(00:33):
whirlwind of a week for me, just to kind of recap.
So last Wednesday at ten forty pm, my father and
I flew to Europe.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Had this plan for a little bit.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
It was a long day too, so I did the
show and then my dad flew in from Nashville, landa dullas.
I think he landed around like three o'clock. Our flight
wasn't until ten, so I had the tough decision of
do I stay at home and play Xbox or hang
with my father? And uh, it's tough my Xbox. The
batteries are dead in the controller. So went to the airport.
(01:11):
I'm kidding. I went to the airport hung my dad.
Our first flight was to London, and the way it
was set up was take off at like ten forty pm,
laying at like eleven am London time, so kind of
ideal situation of we could sleep in the flight, be
good to go. However, this flight had the oddest seats
set up I've ever seen, and you never quite know
(01:32):
with like an overseas flight, and this was on a
European airline, they do things differently. This layout was such
that we were in the middle section and there was
one seat like I was on the outside seat the
aisle seat facing forward to my right were two seats
facing backwards, so we're facing the opposite way. Then another
(01:53):
seat facing forward on the other aisles. So of the
four there's two facing forward, two facing backwards. And to
get to the next group of seats, somebody had to
climb over me. It was a very bizarre kind of layout.
But landed in London. I haven't been in London in years.
This is gonna like a flex, but it is what
it is. I played baseball for a team USA when
(02:14):
I was a sophomore in high school, so I haven't
been in London since I was like fifteen, and it's
a very cool city. It's in a way this is
gonna sound dumb, but it does kind of remind me
of like some of the streets remind me of Philly
and of Baltimore, just because of obviously those cities are
influenced by the British. So Thursday in London we do
(02:37):
too much, this kind of hung out, got used to
how things are gonna be, and then Friday was very
exciting for me because being a radio NERD went to
the radio station in London, Capital FM, and was blown away.
First of all, the people were very nice, like that
the whole show. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating,
(02:57):
couldn't have been nicer, very cool people. But their studio
is in like downtown London, and the there's a rooftop
that overlooks downtown London, so you could see like Big
Ben in the giant ferris wheel and you could see
Buckingham Palace.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
Was very cool. It's also cool for me.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
I think, you know, I don't particularly like listening to
other radio shows just because I don't know it just
it's not that as boring. But I don't also like
listening to podcast much after the show. I think it's
because I need to get out of the talking space.
But the scene of the show, to see how they
do things, it's exciting. It makes you like, you get
(03:38):
new ideas. You good to go. So that was on
Friday Friday Night. Whatever reason that my TikTok. The last
couple of months, like Fam of the Opera been popping
up and so I was like, oh, we should see
fam of the Opera while we're in London. And we
did that at His Majesty's Theater and the staff they
were fantastic, and I'm sure they thought my dad and
I were dignitaries because the security staff was like, hey,
(04:03):
you know, my dad has a cane, you know, a
Vietnam veteran. And so we had this woman who was
I think, like it's a hospitality like an usher type person,
and she was like with ust the entire night. It
would stop other rows from leaving if we had to
get up to use the bathroom. So they must have thought,
like my dad was, you know King Charles's brother, Billy Charles.
(04:27):
I don't know why I have the same last name,
but you get the idea and so we saw that
that was really cool. I do think I'm not not
necessarily a theater guy, but it is cool to see
people who are really good at their craft, and obviously
these folks you know London, very good at their craft.
So that was on Friday. Saturday morning, we did a
(04:50):
tour of the Winston Churchill Museum, which is very cool
World War two stuff. Then we took the train to Manchester,
England and Manchester very cool as well. And never been
to Manchester. Never thought my life I'd go to Manchester.
Went to the hotel. Hotel was amaze where it was
like an old insurance building and like each elevator went
(05:11):
to a different floor, so like there was no real
way to know where you're going.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
And so we did that. Went to the.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
Manchester United soccer game football if you will, on Sunday,
and I'll say this, the stadium's a dump. I mean
it's been around since like nineteen oh four, when I've
gathered the current owners put zero dollars into it. It's
kind of one of those vibes, but it is, oh
got to my brick control. It is one of those
things where like they're tearing down the stadium in a
(05:36):
couple of years. It was very cool to see staff
was amazing. So then we flew to Italy because I
wanted to go to Lake Como and I wish I
had more time in Milan. Sadly we didn't, but seeing
Lake Como where they filled Star Wars Attack of the
Clones was fantastic.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
Overall, was a great trip.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
It was great My dad and I haven't really had
a one on one trip since I was probably fifteen
for a hockey tournament, and so getting the chance at
that with him it was very exciting. It was a
very cool, certainly once in a lifetime. How it all
worked out, I think the goals hopefully do something with
that again. But all this kind of worked out and
fell into place. It was a very cool, very cool time.
(06:14):
So if you get a chance, I say, do it.
Well then of course though flying back, I hate layovers,
hate layovers. If I can avoid layovers, I will do so.
I think as I get antsy into a lot can
go wrong. So we flew from Milan to JFK in
New York City and we landed at We're supposed to
(06:35):
land on one, landed at twelve, which is kind of crazy.
Then our flight to DC is supposed to be a
five to forty five. So we land and all of
a sudden, the first hey, your flight's gonna be delayed
not vacation comes up. I'm like, all right, yeah, delayed
thirty minutes. All good, What can you do? I am
getting delayed like ten more times, and it was annoying
because it kept them being delayed by like five minutes.
I'm like, yo, just like just tell us what's going on.
(06:58):
It's one of those things where on the app for
the flight you can see where your plane is at,
and it kept stating our plane was still in Cleveland.
I was like, all right, if it's in Cleveland, odds
are we're not taking off on time? I think that's
probably safe to say. And so I was getting a
little bit anxious because my dad had a flight to
Nashville at they're supposed to be We're supposed to land
at seven. His flight was gonna be eight thirty, and
(07:20):
then thank got his flight out delayed till nine thirty.
Although by the time we landed. It was one of
the oddest things where I texted saus a photo because
when we were about to take off, there were literally
thirteen planes in front of us on the runway, like
they must have been a bunch of other flights. Delay too,
didn't land until nine to fifteen. My dad missed his flight,
but he got to crash in my place, which was
(07:41):
very exciting. One last little sleepover, and we had a
great time. Although I was like I had missed Skittles.
I hadn't seen Skittles, you know, in a week. Sauce
had washed him and then saw shocked him off in
my house on Wednesday. I missing my days now and then,
so I like that. My dad sat up at a
bit late. I went to bed right away. In the morning,
(08:03):
I realized my dad slept with Skittles, but he locked
the bedroom door.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
So I couldn't get my squites, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
So great week although like the last twenty four hours
I've had like what I've met last forty some hours,
I've had maybe six hours of sleep. So the goal
I was gonna say, the goal this weekend is to
catch up on sleep. However, we're doing Sauce's birthday party
at the bar. I'm involved with Hide socials, so I
know that's not gonna be the case, but it could
(08:32):
be worse, very blessed to have that trip. It was amazing. Yeah,
I'm gonna talk more about it in my comedy shows.
