(00:00):
And a Happy Monday friend. Welcometo the thoughts Shower intern John is my
name. Last week of June,Holy schnikes, you know what that means.
August is coming. My birthday thisyear falls on August sixth, so
very excited. Also my parents thirtyseventh wedding anniversary, I believe, also

(00:24):
in August, very exciting. Hada weekend. Had a weekend. It
was actually oddly like relaxing and thena little bit crazy, which is kind
of nice. So Friday stayed inwatched the hockey playoffs, even though I
have no team in the race,no horse in the race so to speak.

(00:45):
Stayed in, watched and I thinkthe game ended at like I don't
remember what time, ten to elevenwhatever, went to bed. Saturday.
Started watching Defending Jacob on Apple TV. Pretty good because I've been watching Presumed
Innocence with Jay Gillenhall. Defending Jacobkind of in that same line. It's
like, I think the the AppleTV category is like law drama. I

(01:11):
think did that was supposed to hangout with my buddy Andrew on Saturday and
he had a show that go overlike four am Saturday morning, so it's
kind of waiting by the phone forhim, and then around like seven o'clock
he's like, hey, man, like I'm not gonna go hang out.
I was kind of like bummed atfirst, but that was also relieved,
Like you want to know what thingsare gonna get crazy here in the next

(01:34):
couple of weeks. There's nothing wrongwith having like a weekend off. So
I went to bed at like eightthirty on Saturday, which is kind of
wild. Didn't mind it though, you know, it's just nice to have
those weekends. And I try totell myself that that, like, you
can have a weekend to do literallynothing. It's almost like I've told myself

(01:55):
to if there's a day where Idon't feel like going to the gym,
right, tell myself, like it'sokay. You know, I'm not training
to be a world class athlete orletting anybody down. It's like every now
and minutes, okay, just listenyour body. Take the day off.
And then Sunday, I was veryexcited, so went to the gym on
Sunday morning, which is exciting.Man. The gym. Now it's in

(02:19):
the summer. It sucks because mygym's got a pool. So it's like
you go in the wrong window.Time you're parking like three cities over if
you even find a spot. ButI had a chance to go my buddy
Doug with salamanders, like, whydon't you come out watch some polo.
And in Minnesota we don't have polo. Polo is a shop of the Mall
of America. So to watch thesefolks get on the horses and do polo.

(02:45):
And it was on actual polo field, which I guess is like nine
football fields long. It's insane towatch, dude, Like I mean,
I've been on horses. Horses tome scary as hell because if they side
they're going some way, they're goingthat way, and there's not much you
can do about it. This though, like they're going fast, they're hitting

(03:07):
the ball, they're doing all thatstuff. It's just something to watch,
man, And be honest, Ifelt out of place, fell us out
of place a little bit. Butit was just cool to watch in this
beautiful scenery as well. My buddyThor who is marine, you know,
four tours of duty. He cameup to watch with me and I called
him as we're pulling in and Iwas like, hey, man, like

(03:28):
I'll be here, come find me. He goes, okay, cool,
like I think I brought good horseriding shoes. I was like, phor,
we're not riding the horses. Hegoes okay, thank God, Like
dude, I know you're a marineand nothing scaries you. There ain't no
way we're playing Polo Brother. Nottoday, maybe one day, but nah.
And then got the news too.The Arlington shows for the comedy shows

This is it. Can now waitto see you. Internjoncomedy dot Com.
I want to hit this just becauseI thought it'd be funny. The
phrases that make you sound classy andintelligent. I'm gonna be honest. I
don't think there's much that I saythat makes me sound intelligent. I think

(04:40):
there's even less that I say thatmakes me sound classy. I'm a simple
kid from Minnesota, you know whatI mean? Like, this is pretty
much what you get. Let's gothrough these though. If somebody says I
see your point and I raise youthis, they say it's respectful and intelligent
way I disagree with somebody and presentinga counter argument. I'm gonna say this.

(05:04):
If I was talking to somebody andthey were like, I see your
point and I raise you this, instantly, I'm gonna stop listening because I
know you're about to say something Idon't want to hear. You know what
I mean? Because that is becauseyou know when you raise something like you're
raising mistakes, it's like you're addingmoney. You know, you're you're calling
somebody out on poker. It's like, I heard what you have to say,

(05:28):
but what I have to say ishigher value. That's what I take
that as. You know what Imean. I'm not gonna be like sick,
let me hear this. I'm gonnabe like, hmm, no,
best not. If somebody says, let's look at this from a different angle,
I'm Okay with that they're saying, saying something along these lines, jes,

(05:50):
you're opening a different perspectives and thatyou're willing to explore a problem from
various viewpoints. I think that's probablyfair. Okay. If they say,
or you say, I concur withyour sentiments, No, do not say
that to me, please, pleasedon't. That just sounds I don't know,

(06:13):
like to me. Sometimes there's peoplewho who is almost like they're speaking
to be intelligent, and I thinkit makes you sound less intelligent in a
way, like no human talks thatway. That to me is like the
AI is trying to talk and soundhuman, you know what I mean.
If somebody says that's an astute observation, that is I think Will Ferrells is

(06:38):
that in a blooper somewhere, andlike maybe some Stepbrothers he goes, that's
an astute observation, But in Stepbrothershe's trying to sound like an adult,
you know what I mean. Likethat to me is kind of the whole
point. They say. Appraising someoneelse's insight with this phrase not only shows
your appreciation for their thoughts, butalso demonstrates your own understanding the topic of

(06:59):
hand. Again, I don't know. I just feel like if I said
that to somebody, they wouldn't thinkI was being serious in conversation. If
I was like, that isn't astuteobservation. To me, it's like,
just say it's a good point, you know, just say like, oh,
it's a good it's a good lookright there. Something like that.
Tell me, like John, thatis in a stute observation. I'm just

(07:20):
gonna assume you don't care. Again, maybe it's just me. Maybe this
says something more about me than anybodyelse, But I don't know. If
they say, I appreciate your perspectiveaccording the experts, so it's a respectful
way to acknowledge someone else's opinion evenif we not agree. That's probably fair.

(07:42):
I mean again, I read thatas I don't agree with you,
But I do think that's important becausethat's the one thing I've learned. I
don't consider myself a boss necessarily,However, I do. I am the
decision maker in a lot of thethings I'm involved with, certainly the show

(08:03):
and the podcast and the comedy stuff. So there is times I've learned to
try to explain this better where it'slike I'll take other people's inputs but don't
necessarily agree with it. But Iappreciate their view on things because it's a
good way to look at something else, you know what I mean. So
it's like I'll still still listen, still value the opinion that I'll still probably

(08:24):
go up my gut a lot oftime, but I still do. So
this one I kind of agree with, Like I do appreciate somebody's opinion in
some If somebody says in light ofthis evidence, I don't know. Man,
Again, I just talk to melike a human, you know what
I mean, Like, talk tome like I'm a person, because sometimes

(08:46):
too, I feel like is somebodyspeaking like very proper? I always get
the feeling too. It's like they'retrying to cover their own ass, you
know what I mean, Like they'retrying to make it so they they don't
slip up and nothing can have anddown the line. Again, does that
say more about me than the otherperson? Probably? Probably? Uh.

(09:07):
If somebody says that's a compelling argument, I think that's fair. But again
I would just rather that you saythat's a good point, that's valid,
Like I'll I say, that's alot the valid one A lot somebody says
something, Oh, that's valid, but that's fair. That kind of like,
to me, that's fair. It'sa good point, that's valid.
That to me works better than thisbecause again I don't know. I feel

(09:30):
like you're trying to sound smarter thanyou are. But then again, what
do I know? Simple Kiff Minnesotawho happened to stumble across a career radio.
