Speaker 1 (00:00):
And a happy Friday friend. Welcome to the Thought Shower.
Intern John is my name was a lovely week, busy weekend, ahead,
busy day today. The first game of the twenty twenty
five twenty six high school hockey season starts today with
George Sean Prepp. Cannot freaking wait for that. It's ironic
(00:21):
because I was talking on the show I think yesterday
about how like youth sports is being ruined. Yesterday the
oddest thing we had coaches watching our practice that was weird.
And then the team we're playing today they were caught
filming our practice. That is so bizarre because that it's
(00:43):
always like a kind of unspoken rule in athletics. You
don't film somebody's practice, you don't watch somebody's practice. But
again it goes back to y know, this is Maryland
high school hockey, right, like we all want to do well,
but it isn't that serious. You know, this isn't the
Stanley Cup Finals. There isn't millions of dollars on the line.
(01:05):
This is high school hockey. What are we doing like
into the adults that stay and watch, like go home
to your family, you know what I mean. Just the
most bizarre thing but hey, you know, we love coaching.
I mean I do, I really do love coaching. It's
a lot of fun. This year. I think we have
like five alum who are on the coaching staff. It's
(01:25):
very exciting. And we're two wins away from one hundred,
which is also dope, so excited for that. Doing the
Caps game on Saturday Sunday, it's the Commanders doing their
their their game, but doing it from hide the bar,
having a buffet for that, which is very exciting. And
then guy, you're ready because next weekend going out of town,
(01:48):
nephews getting baptized. Look at that baby. We're back. It's
been up and downs this year. Certainly we have about
six weeks left in the year to make it the
best we can. And uh, I'm gonna be honest, that's
the goal, the goals. Make this the best we can.
So let's do it. I want to get to this
Fear Friday if I can. The things around your place
(02:09):
that make you unhappy, Now, let me just say this,
I have not really updated my place since I moved
in ten years ago. I moved in ten years ago,
had a girlfriend at the time, didn't let her decorate
per se because her tastes a little bit more expensive
than within the budget, but certainly had her input. And
(02:31):
then I had another girlfriend who didn't really have any input.
Never rebody said anything. Also, I guess I didn't ask.
So there's that. And so I just kind of lived by,
like the stuff I have works. I never really have
guests over, Like, yeah, I moved into my place. I'm like, oh,
I need all these wine glasses for all these dinner parties.
I'm gonna have, bro, I don't have dinner parties. How
(02:52):
are we talking about? I mean my Christmas party? There's that.
So like my place, I'm just kind of waiting for,
like to get this serious relationship and ask her like, hey,
can you figure out what looks good? You know, the
couch in my main level. Uh, if you sit at
the wrong angle, it's gonna break through. So that's kind
of one of those things where it's like, all right,
we need to get some a touch in here, if
(03:15):
you would. The first thing is cluttered closets. They say
they're more than just an organizational nightmare. It's a source
of stress and decision fatigue. I do think that's fair.
They say, clothes spilling out in the jumbo shoes at
the bottom. You start your day sifting through chaos. Yeah,
especially if two like you have a bunch of shirts,
like I have a bunch of shirts that basically the
(03:35):
exact same black shirt guy, you know what I mean.
And then it's like what shirts fit better? What shirts
don't fit better? You know? So I do think that.
And there's also like the anxiety of you open up
the closet door and you're like, please don't let anything
fall out. You to get home alone. They open the
closet door and like it all falls out, kind of
(03:56):
like that. Dim Lighting made the list. They say it
might seem cozy first glance, but it can dampen your
mood and energy levels. I'll say this, nothing worse than
when you have a light bulb burnout in like an
overhead ceiling lamp. You put a new ball in different
color than the other one. See twofferent Babs. Because I
have that problem right now, and it's like I'm not
fixing that now. It's not gonna turn the light on,
(04:19):
you know what I mean, Just not gonna turn the
light on. That's my solution. Silent spaces made the list.
They say, while peace and quiet are desirable, too much
silence can be unervy and contribute to feelings of isolation.
Completely silent home can amplify feelings a loneliness, especially if
you live alone. That to me makes sense because if
it feels like your place is like a stager, right, like,
(04:41):
it feels like it's more so, Yeah, you're set for
like the real that to come in. I get that
you need to have it seem like it's lived in,
you know. I feel like sometimes hotels are kind of
like that. I've spent a lot of time in hotels,
especially with the comedy tour stuff, and like it can
be lonely on the road when it feels like you're
not in a place as yours, you know, when it
feels like you shouldn't be touching anything because it's not yours.
(05:04):
Stagged in air, they say, stale air is more than
just uninviting, cause of adverse effects in your health and mood.
Poor ventilation contributes to indoor air pollution, wishing, aggravate allergies,
all that stuff. Yeah, I also think it's again, it's
like if you go to a cabin for the first
time in a while and you can you open the door,
you get in the cabin and it smells like it's old.
(05:25):
You know what I mean. It smells like it hasn't
been lived in no doubt, uncomfortable furniture. Sauce has the
worst couch of all time. She thinks it's a cloud.
This cloud could take down Titanic. I'm just saying it is.
If you were to run and jump on Sauce's couch,
you will break your hip. They say, your sheet couch
(05:47):
might be a site for surries, but if it's uncomfortable,
it's doing you more harm than good. I think that's fair.
Nothing worse than a couch is not comfortable. There really is.
You talk about betrayal and not being able to trust somebody.
Couch is uncomfortable. It's like, what is your purpose? You're
supposed to be relaxing outday technology? Uh yeah, they say
(06:08):
the old laptop takes over to boot up, or the
phone or the battery that dies quickly can disrupt your
Workful impatience, constant technic ups can lead to stress, especially
when you're in a rush. I think that's true. Yeah,
I mean it's kind of an obvious one. Especially it's
because like technology is supposed to make your life easier
so if it doesn't. If it does as stress, that's
(06:29):
not good. I've started to upgrade to more of the
smart lights and like that can be a bit of
pay in the ass too, because it's like getting all
the work properly and you know, is the Wi Fi
work and that kind of stuff. Agreed. Unfinished projects, Yes,
unfinished projects scattered around your home can become psychological burdens,
serving as a constant minders of incomplete tasks. Whether it's
(06:50):
a DIY project or a book you promise to read.
These loose ends create stress and guilt, especially if it's obvious, right,
especially if it's like you are walking by it every
single day. That to me is like a concert mind
of like oh okay, yep, meant to fix this. Luckily
I don't really have any oh thanky, it's not the house.
(07:12):
It's more so like for me when I was doing
the comedy stuff, like I would have a workstation if
you will, with the video stuff on a certain computer
and knowing walking by like oh, it's because I need
to do that, like that kind of like I'm just
gonna avoid this. I don't want to look at that.
There we go. High maintenance, the core they say, well, stylish,
high maintenance decor can seal precious time energy items are acquired.
(07:36):
Constant cleaning, dusting, and rearranging can become more mature than enjoyment.
I think that's true. I don't really have anything like that.
I mean, I guess like I have like a memorial
like shelf for chewy, and that is I don't know
if it's enjoyment, but it's more so like constant making
(07:57):
sure it's dusted and like looks good. It is chore
obviously a shore that I don't mind doing, but I
would say, yeah, that's a little bit high maintenance for sure.
I think that's fair. Noisy neighbors, this is the worst. Man.
Oh golly. Noisy neighbors can be more than just nuisance.
They can significantly impact your peace of mind. Persistent noise
(08:19):
and trusing can lead a stress, sleep disruption, even health issues.
My neighbors when I first moved in, there was like
ten people in their place, which was obviously against the rules,
and they were loud, like loud loud, and me yeah,
but two forty was like hey, uh nah, and they'd
be hey, come over and party. I was like, dude, no,
it's a Tuesday at like midnight. I had an next
(08:42):
girlfriend who get so annoyed with them. She would take
pots and pans and bang them together to try to
get them to stop, because maybe noisy inside and outside.
And it's one of those things where I think, as
a dude, at least, it's like yo, like, it's not
even worth provoking them because if they're so oblivious to
the fact they're being so loudud Like, those are people
you generally don't want to mess with because they clearly
(09:05):
don't follow the normal like rules of society, you know
what I mean. They clearly don't follow these social norms,
So it's like, why would I want to be involved
with that? You know. The last one is in personal touches, Say,
at home without personal touches can feel like a showroom
more than a sanctuary. Generic decor might look picture perfect,
but can lack warmth and personality and makes the space
(09:27):
truly yours. I do think that with impersonal touches, Yeah,
it goes back to the hotel. If it feels like
a hotel in less like your place, that's not fun,
that's not a vibe. You know, you want a place
that can feels like yours where you can let your
guard down, be yourself and just kind of relax. The
hotel vibe or like the stage shutroom vibe, it gives
(09:48):
the gives off the vibe that I shouldn't be touching things.
I should get my fee uf the couch. I'm gonna
make a mess out to pay for it, you know
what I mean. Hope you have a fantastic weekend. Appreciate you.
Scene is always this is the thought shower.
