Speaker 1 (00:00):
And a Happy Wednesday. Friend. Welcome to the thoughts Shower.
Intern John is my name. Tickets officially on sale my
Chewy Forever. I want to say comedy tour because it's
not a tour. My Chewy Forever weekend of shows is
on sale right now, June twentieth, June twenty first, Arlington

(00:24):
Draft House, Arlington, VA. These are the only shows I'm doing.
It's gonna be It's gonna be a lot of fun, certainly,
but the reason for the reduced schedule is it's kind
of twofold. Number One, Touring is exhausting, especially when it's
me who plans it, books at hotels, airfare, all that

(00:47):
stuff is exhausting. Number Two, this particular set of shows
is gonna be very emotionally draining, and I know that
kind of talking about the last couple of months and
navigating losing my best friend. But it's for an amazing cause,
the Warrior Canine Connection. As I mentioned before, they raise

(01:10):
puppies to be service dogs for veterans. And the unique
thing about this group is they train the dogs for
that specific veteran. So, for instance, in the Sad truth
is this is reality. If a veteran has you know,
lost their right arm in combat. They will train the
dog to be able to help a veteran who is

(01:32):
missing a right arms. That is to say, maybe the
dog is trained to bring objects to the left side
or only walk on the left side because that's where
the leash will be. So each dog is specifically catered
for the veteran. That's step one. Step two is they
have veterans training the dogs. And the unique thing that
I thought was very cool they talked about was, you know,

(01:55):
sometimes veterans aren't the best at expressing emotion, and it
makes sense given the things they've seen. So if you
were a veteran training a dog, they'll be like, hey, Tim,
I know that you don't feel sad, happy, anger, or anything. Ever.
I know you don't. However, the veteran that this dog

(02:16):
is going to might feel those things. So can you
pretend while you have this dog to be sad and
angry and happy, and in that way, you're training the
dog to help a veteran. And what they found is
by telling veterans that it's helped those veterans express their
emotions more too. They're an amazing group. It's gonna be

(02:37):
an amazing weekend June twentieth. June twenty first Arlington Draft
House tickets at fifteen bucks. Now, listen, I know things
are expensive now and I've always tried to be as
cognizant of that as possible. So fifteen dollar tickets Internjooncomedy
dot com. Once these shows sell out, there's not gonna

(02:57):
be any other shows. And it's not because I don't
want to. This is gonna be very difficult weekend, you know,
but a very positive weekend. You know. The whole goal
once I want to say once I recover, because I haven't.

(03:19):
The whole goal was to carry on Chewy's legacy and
I know that he can help a lot of people.
He helped me. And so the goal is we can
raise a lot of money for the Warrior Canine Connection
so they can raise more dogs to help veterans. So
if you give a chance Internsoncomedy dot com the buy tickets,
you can also donate right to Warrior Knine Connection. I

(03:40):
can't wait to see you. It's gonna be a lot
of fun and uh, I'm gonna be funny. I'm really funny, dude.
I've got allergy. Excuse me, I've gotten really funny recently,
I don't know. It is probably the trauma. So Internshohncomedy
dot com, let me get to this for your Wednesdays.

(04:00):
You're just checking boxes in life, not actually living it. Now.
I do feel like me personally, I have phone in
this trap and you know, I have a therapist one
to tell me told me that, you know, there's a
time where I guess kind of. So currently, I've been
blessed that a lot of things that I do do

(04:23):
extremely well. You know, coaching hockey. The boys have won
three championships, This podcast has had millions of listenings and
won awards. This show The Same Thing Comedy Tour has
raised one hundred thousand dollars for Fisher House, and it's
an amazing thing. You have number one comedy album this
past year. And there have been times where I haven't
fully enjoyed that. And Morris have been like, Okay, well

(04:46):
that's done. What's next. And I was talking to a
boss recently who I was like, oh, you know, I
want to do this, this and this, and she goes, John,
you don't you don't take enough time to appreciate your accomplishments.
And I was like, what do you mean, and she's like,
didn't your comedy album go number one this year? And
like I had kind of forgotten that, which is crazy

(05:08):
in hindsight, which is crazy. It's like, oh yeah, I can, actually,
you know, enjoy the fact that this happened. Number one
sign they start with is you're busy climbing the impress ladder.
When you're achievements mirror with society deemed successful, it might
be time to question whose goals you're really pursuing. They
say lava chase after the traditional script of success, getting

(05:31):
high paying jobs, buying a house, ticking off those milestones
without stopping to ask. These things generally bring them joy.
I think that's fair. Or you feel the pressure too,
like the pressure to buy a house or get a
new car, or you know, do the beach vacation. I
think that's true. I think the the pressure spend money

(05:52):
and to make it feel like you have money can
be a bad one. Yeah, where it is like, if
doing that is just going to add stress to you,
is it really work? I would offer no. If your
life feels like a loop, when your daily routine leaves
you feeling more drained than fulfilled, it might be a
sign of box checking. They say that breaking free from

(06:13):
monotony can spark creativity and renew our zest for life.
I think that's true. To this is a little bit
hard though, you know, this is like you gotta do
your job, you gotta do I mean, for me, I
have a hard time where I don't do well breaking
away from the routine. Like even like today, like I'm
doing the show, doing the podcast, Gonna go to the

(06:36):
gym after the show, And usually my day is kind
of like, you know, wake up two two forty, get
to the station by three thirty, start recording stuff, start
doing stuff by like four fifteen, have all my stuff
praying ready to go. By five point fifteen, have done
most of my recordings myself, start recording with the show,

(06:56):
you know, and then by like ten oh five, I
try to get out of here, and my good friend
Chuck Lee will say for our workday, no sir. But
then it's like I try to go to the gym
right away and then take a nap and work on
the next day's show. However, like today, I'm going to
the Caps game and I'm already planning like okay, but
I have to leave this game by this time and
that is tough, but it is also like I know

(07:18):
the consequences and not following the routine, But I, dude,
try to be more living in the moment now than
I ever was before. It used to be like when
I first started getting busy, was like, well, if I
leave the house now, it'll take this amount of time.
I'll be there for this amount of time. If I
leave then I'll be back at this time, And like
kind of so far going on, which leads to the
next thing. You're so busy planning, you're missing the moment. Yeah,

(07:43):
are you so busy planning the future? You forget to
live in the present. It's easy to fall in the
traffic planning, always preparing for the future as yet to come.
I do think that's fair. I mean, obviously, like you
need the right balance, right, you need the balance of
someonet planning things out, but also kind of living life.

(08:04):
It's kind of like the vacation thing where if you
have a vacation that is playing to the tee, it
can go horribly. It can feel like things are going bad.
I'm lucky to my dad and I We're gonna be
going to Europe next week. Very exciting, going to see
a Manchester United soccer game. Going to Milan to see
where they film Star Wars is thank god I plan

(08:25):
the trip to where we had buffer days because I
got an email last week the man You game is
on a Saturday. Got an email last week. Hey games
moved to Sunday, which is crazy, which is crazy, but
thank god I had buffer days. If I had sacked
the days like we would have missed the game, which,
like that would have sucked because that was the whole,

(08:48):
the whole point of the trip, you know what I mean.
Got very lucky there. Well, do you one more? If
your relationships feel surface level, if your connections feel shot
or transactional, you might be missing out on the depth
of meaningful relationships. Close bonds required effort and vulnerability. Without them,

(09:08):
relationships can feel empty. I think that's true. You know.
I think I'd rather have three good friends than one
hundred bad friends. And I'm lucky, man. I have a
very good group of people, good group of friends, and
I realize that when it comes to like events and
stuff like having you know, the the adoption event this
past weekend, having all my friends come is very excited

(09:30):
and I'm very lucky that way. I think. You know,
my Christmas party is also kind of like that, where
it's the most hodgepodge group of people that you never
expect to be in the same room, but there they
are now. To be fair though, too, like I've had
friends where maybe we've grown apart and it's not anybody's fault.
It's not a bad thing, but it does kind of

(09:51):
feel like now we're just checking boxes off instead of
actually being friends. And that is like a huge thing
where it's like, well, I can't especially like child friends,
like well, can't not talk to them because we've been
friends for so long. It's like, yeah, but people can
grow apart and doesn't have to be a bad thing.
It's gonna be like, hey, I still wish you well,
but we've grown apart a little bit, you know. I

(10:14):
hope you have a great day. By the way, very exciting.
