Speaker 1 (00:00):
And a happy Wednesday. Friend.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
Welcome to the thought Shower intern. John is my name.
Big day today, my birthday. Very exciting grown man celebrating
his birthday. If you're in the DMV area this Saturday,
will be at Hide Social. That's the bar that I'm
involved with. Love to see you. I think the whole
show's coming out. G gonna be a lot of fun,
(00:23):
very exciting for this weekend. Today not so much. I mean,
it's gonna be a good day. I'm excited. I'm alive.
That's good. It's a little bit weird, first birthday without
Chewy since I was I don't know, twenty, I guess,
so that's a little bit different. He usually went all
out for me. You know, he was very big on
gift giving, so it's weird to not have him here,
(00:44):
not to wake up to fresh waffles and bacon and
all those things.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
A house. The plan today is do the show.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
I mean, can I be honest, I'm not very good
at celebrating things. I know that sounds weird, especially not
during the week because I have a hard time stopping
the work. So I had somebody asked me, yes, what
are you doing for your birthday? On Wednesday, I'm like, well,
I'm gonna go to work, I'm gonna do the show,
gonna go to the gym, gonna walk skittles, gonna work
(01:14):
on the show for Thursday, and might get Crabs food
not my god stop John. So yeah, that's kind of
like it's gonna be a normal day. You know, Crabs
might be a little bit out there asking my you
know whatever. I am excited this week there's an eminem
movie coming out called Stands that hears me about his
(01:34):
writing process. But also like super fans, problem is it's
not showing the movie by my house. I was kind
of bummed showing the movie down the street not the
one by my house. I mean, you can't imagine having
to drive down the street and sev going across to
my house.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Not great.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
So that's kind of the plan today. It's kind of
relaxed and chill. What do I think of this past year? Well,
let's see in the past year, what has happened. The
I put my first comedy album last year last November
went number one in the world.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
That was very exciting.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
That was I remember, for whatever reason I was at
like my bar like just opened and whatever reason I
was at the hotel because I remember waking up in
the morning walking chewing skittles, and I think the album
was I got like three or four and then by
the time I got to work was number one. And
that was one of the coolest feelings I've ever probably felt.
(02:30):
So that happened this year. Hockey, the hockey team that coach,
they won the league championship, which is very exciting. Started
the season one and eleven, but the boys pulled it out.
That was very exciting. Obviously, Chewy pass on New Year's
that was the lowest of the lows, certainly, but also
I think it's been it hasn't been a good thing.
(02:52):
But to just kind of realize how lucky I was
to have something that I cared about so much, and
I also cared about me as much as he did,
and you just kind of see the impact that he made.
They did trip my dad to Europe. That was very exciting.
We went to England, went to Italy. Once in a
(03:13):
lifetime experience on both those fronts certainly, So pretty big
year overall, you know, on to see the show grow
and oh I won Baltimore's Radio Host of the Year.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
That was exciting. So yeah, how do you top it?
I don't know. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
Mike, ice cream cake today, that's probably gonna be how
I top it. But hey, listen, all off. My birthday
honestly is people will be happy. And then the follow
me on Instagram. I think they're both related. I really do.
At Intern Gohn Radio, let me get to this for
your Wednesday. The types of people you can always trust.
I think I'm fairly good at picking out people I
(03:53):
can trust, although but I guess like that might also
to be because I don't trust right away. I'm very guarded,
Like I believe that your trust is something people should earn,
like it is a commodity. I think there are some
folks who throw their trust around a little bit too
willy nilly, and I'm not like that. They also they
(04:17):
not clowned me by they joking the show that I'll
cut somebody off. It's like, yeah, I don't think people
deserve to be in your orbit. That they don't deserve to,
you know, not family, friends, whomever. They don't deserve to
be able to just kind of be in your orbit.
It's like, no, you are. You should be trusting these
folks around you. The straight Shooter they're the person always
(04:37):
tells it like it is. You can count them for
honesty even when it's uncomfortable. I would say, for me,
Sauce is probably the straight shooter, no doubt. If I
ask her for advice, she's pretty straightforward. I have a
couple of radio friends too. I would say my friend
Big D, my friend Buster, my mentor Chance for sure.
(04:59):
If I call the up, I'm like, hey, is this normal,
and they'll be like, yes, no whatever. I'm lucky to
have those friends too, where it's like yeah, I think
I've always said that I tend to follow my own
gut instinct, right, I could have one hundred or let
me phrase this, I caldd ninety nine people tell me
something is wrong. But if one of those trusted tribal folks,
(05:22):
if you will, like when I trusted Circle, if they
tell me it's right, I'll go for it. If that
makes sense, you know what I mean. I rarely want
to go against them, but if they say it's wrong too,
I'll believe them more than ninety nine, if that makes sense.
The keeper of secrets, no doubt. We all need somebody
(05:42):
can keep our secrets safe. A vault of personal information
never spills. They understand the way of trust and never
betray your confidence. I would say my friend Shane for sure,
my friend Andrew Day for sure, my friend Dante for shure,
Me's Sauce certainly too. But I think, yeah, that's important
because with those friends, I feel like they know more
(06:03):
about you because you trust them with your stuff and
not even just like secrets. But I think sometimes it's
trusting a friend if you're going through something you know,
or if you have a thought on something, trusting them
to like just be a vessel to listen to. I
think that's one of the most important things and one
of the best things friends can be.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
The empathetic listener.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
They have a profound ability to tune into your motions,
provide a safe space for you to express yourself. They
don't just hear your words, to understand the feelings behind them.
I think that's obviously important because you need to feel
like you're being heard. I hate when I feel like
I'm being listened to but not heard, because it's like
it's not as fl feeling. It's like you're almost getting
it but not quite you know, if you need somebody
(06:45):
to feel like they're actually listening to you, they're actually
hearing you out.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
The loyal advocate. They're the ones who will stand by you.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
You're thick and thin, the loyalties on wavering regardless of
the situation or challenge you might face. You can count
them to defend you and look for your best intro again,
not to keep blowing sauce up. I would say, that's
sauce for sure for me. Yeah, I think that girl would.
I know she would should go to wharf me vice versa.
I know if I'm not in the room and I'm
(07:13):
being talked about, she's the first one to step up
and be like nah, I would say my friend thor
also this way another great person. You need the non
judgmental friend. They say, having so of your life will
offers a judgment free zone is incredible feeling. These friends
accept you for who you are, imperfections and all make
it easy to be yourself without fear of criticism or ridicule.
(07:34):
I think that's important mainly too, because you need to
have somebody you feel like you can be let your
guard down with right, let your guard down, not be
as like uptight and just kind of you know, enjoy
enjoy life. So to speak, you need the humble expert. Yes,
the humble experts someone who, despite being highly knowledgeable, doesn't
(07:57):
flaunt it. Their expertise is not a tool for boost
go rather than a resource they willingly share it. This
is obviously hugely important, right because you want somebody where
if you go to them for advice or if you're struggling,
they'll help you out, but not make you feel stupid
for helping you out. You know, like, they will gladly
give you advice, they gladly give you, you know, the tools
(08:20):
if you will, but not make you feel dumb in
the process. I think that is absolutely massive. I'll do
one more, the responsible planner. The responsible planner are the
people who keep everything running smoothly. They're organized, dependab'll always
have a plan in place. You need this for everything,
whether it be just like a gathering, whether it be
(08:44):
a giant party, if it's a group trip something like that.
You need that one person who can also find everybody
when they're out.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
I feel like that person almost in a way makes
you feel safe because you know they haven't taken care
of you know, and you know, like I would also say,
you tend to follow the planner's advice. Like if the
planner says, hey, we're going now, we're doing this, that's nice.
It's also fun because not having to worry about Although
I think I am the planner friend, I need a plan.
(09:18):
I need to know time wise, I need to know
where we're going logistics. I'm not so great at winging
it because I don't want to wing it and then
have things be not work out, have things be not as.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
Good as it could be. You know.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
Anyway, hope you have a fantastic Wednesday. I'm looking forward today.
It's gonna be a fun day. GIF you get a
chance to follow me. That's honestly, the best birthday gift
you can give me is to follow me at intern
gin Radio and to follow the show at YMS Radio,
but mainly follow me because one day I might disappear,
you know when it happens. At least know where to
(09:53):
find me on the socials at internjot Radio. Again, have
a fantastic Wednesday. This is the thought Shower
