Speaker 1 (00:00):
And Happy Wednesday friends. Welcome to the Thought Shower. Intern
John is my name. It was a weekend. I apologize
for not having a podcast on Monday, kind of took
it off. This past weekend. The bar I'm involved with
had our small friends and family opening and it was

(00:20):
it was a lot, a lot good though. We did Thursday, Friday, Saturday,
and Sunday, and you know, it's it's interesting being involved
in this business now and never done anything like this before,
and so you have an idea, you kind of build
it out solely over the course of some months, you
do a bunch of tests of food and drinks, and

(00:42):
then you kind of open your doors and see how
it goes. And it is a fantastic spot. Fantastic food,
fantastic drinks.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
It was.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
It was very fun to have the small opening and
to be there for it. So that was the majority
of the weekend. All the day is kind of like
mesh into one because I stayed out in a hotel
near the bar for two days. Then I commuted two
days because again, this is like a test weekend for
me to see how it works best with the dogs,

(01:12):
how works best of my timing. All I know is
your boy is tired. Your boy is we consato. However,
this weekend is the grand opening of the bar, so
gonna be a little bit more not a little bit more,
but a little bit more of that, a little more
of the going out, seeing how things go, and then

(01:34):
hopefully we pull back a little bit, you know, hopefully
then we can get a little bit of a rest.
But so far, so good. It's been absolutely fantastic. It's
kind of a fun experience. It's a really fun experience.
I don't think I talked about seeing The Joker on here.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
I hope not. I saw The Joker too, like two
weeks ago. The movie sucks. It's bad. It's bad.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
I think it's lost something like seventy million dollars, which
makes sense. I mentioned this to friends that But it's
almost like I really enjoyed the first one, first Choker movie.
It's like with this one, they were like, hey, we could,
you know, write a new movie, or we could write
twenty five percent of a movie and just add music,

(02:21):
And that's basically what they did, to the point where
you know, you kept kind of rolling your eyes, like.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
I got another one, another one.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
I've heard two people walking out of the theater and
actually getting refunds, which is kind of crazy. I didn't
know that was a thing. I ain't they can walk
out of a theater and get a refund of a movie. Anyway,
it was trash. We are, by the way, two weeks
away my debut comedy album, Internsohn. The album drops raising

(02:53):
money for the Fisherrass Foundation. The album itself is about
six bucks. Internshioncomedy dot com. That's Internjooncomedy dot com.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
Again.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
The goal is to go number one, which the pre
sales help with that. So if we get a lot
of pre sales, hopefully kind of pushes us over the edge.
So you go to Internjohncomedy dot com, you click the
iTunes button, you pre order the album there and then
on November one, instantly it's on your phone again benefiting
the Fisherouse Foundation. And if the album goes number one,

(03:26):
my dad's getting seven minutes of free time on the show,
which is about how much he had and the comedy
show I will allow him so on the radio show.
I'm excited, you know, especially when you see the names
ahead of me right now, right now, my album isn't
on the charts per se, but like weird Al, Nate Bargatsi,

(03:47):
Adam Sandler, Matt Rife, some pretty you know, big heavyweights
involved here. So to get a chance to go number
one to raise money for the Fisherouse would be quite
the honor. Interns John Comedy let me get to this
too for your Wednesday. The friends to keep in the
ones ditch, inside of the inner circle, inside of your

(04:09):
social circle. This is so important. I always say life
is too short for cheap liquor and bad friends. Starting
with the guy. Keep the brutally honest friend. This is
the friend who tells it like it is, even when
it's hard to hear. Someone who's willing to give you
tough love and instructive criticism when necessary. Their advice always
might not always be sugarcoated, but it's rude and care

(04:29):
and wanting the best for you. I mean, for me,
I think that'd be Sauce, no doubt, I've always said
about Sauce, she can't help it, can't help herself when
she feels a certain way, when she sees something, she's
gonna say something.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
That's just how she is.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
You definitely need that, though, because it is that one
person who, even if you don't like their answer. At
least you know they're telling you the truth, which is
such a valuable thing. You don't need the drama magnet.
Drama seems to follow this friend everywhere. They tend to
pull you into it too. Constantly deal with their problems
can be exhausting and stressful, no doubt. Yeah, the person

(05:10):
I've always mentioned this, like when they call you, go,
oh God, like do I have to answer for this person?

Speaker 2 (05:16):
You don't want that. Drama's not fun.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
Why don't you get a certain age where it's like, oh,
you have real life problems.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
You don't want to be involved in drama.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
That's why I think I stay clear of adults who
love drama because it's like, hey, don't you want to
have like, I don't know, peace. Don't you want to
be able to like relax you know what I mean,
enjoy life without having to be worrying all the time.
I don't know, just throwing it out there. You need
the support of cheerleader. Absolutely. I would say my friend

(05:48):
Justin is this the friend that celebrates your wings and
lifts you up when you're feeling down. They're your biggest fan,
always sharing you on, believing in your dreams, Yeah, I
think that's everybody needs that friend because you know me,
I'm an idea man, so like I need that like
person who's gonna hype up the idea, who maybe doesn't
see the vision, but at least trust me. It makes

(06:10):
it easier that way, no doubt. You don't need the
negative naysayer. Yeah, and it's completely opposite, right, I hate
like the type of people. This is in workplaces too,
Where so can we do this? The answer is no.
It's never like oh we can figure it out, nothing
like that. It's always here's why we can't do that.
It's like, well, why don't we just try?

Speaker 2 (06:33):
You know?

Speaker 1 (06:34):
So I tend to stay away with negative naysayers because
a lot of times my ideas are obtuse, like pretty big,
and I don't want somebody to turn me the wrong way.
You need the listener, Yoh, absolutely, the one friend is
a great listener. They don't interrupt or judge. They simply

(06:54):
offer a safe space for you and want to vent
and share your feelings. So I had to cough for
a second. Yeah, of course, that's like almost like the
friend that's a therapist. You can tell anything too. Absolutely,
you don't need the competitor, say, a little friendly competition
is fun, but a friend who constantly competes with you
is draining. True friends should try to lift each other up,

(07:17):
not outdo another. Yeah, I would. I mentioned this my
friend Dante before too. We aren't competitors in the sense
of like it's me versus him in a a guy
beat him. We're competitors in ay, he's doing this, how
can I set my game up?

Speaker 2 (07:33):
And we go back and forth that way.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
I have had friends where it felt like we were
in a silent competition that I wasn't aware of, and
it's like one odd thing, especially if it's like we're
not even the same industry, why are we competing? You
need the adventure buddy, the friend who's always out for
trying new things and having fun, whether it's exploring new
places or picking up a new hobby. Yeah, that one

(07:57):
friend that says yes to anything, calm like today, go hey,
do you want to go?

Speaker 2 (08:01):
Yes? Absolutely? Absolutely? Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
That one friend you know is always down, like if
you want to get out of the house, they're there
for you. You don't need the flaky friend kind of goes.
I think for all the above reasons. You know the
friend who cancels plans is unreliable when life happens. Consistent
flakiness can make you feel unimportant. A lack of liability
of roads trusts make it hard to build a solve connection. Yeah,

(08:29):
because if they're not their feet your weakest moments, are
they even your friend? I would argue, No, you know
what I mean. It's easy to be there when things
are good. When things are bad, though, are they still
there doing one more? You need the problem solver when
life gets tough. The problem solver is a friend you
turn to. They offer practical advice and help you find

(08:52):
solutions rather than just listening to your problems. I like
this friend too, obviously. Do you need this front all
the time? Probably not, because every now and then you
just want to complain. You just want a vent and
you have to be careful you do it too, because
there is nothing worse than the friend who just wants
to be logical. You know It's like, Hey, sometimes I

(09:13):
don't want to be logical. I just want to whine
and complain. Nothing wrong with that makes me feel good,
makes me feel see, makes me feel heard. I think
all these is bottom. I'd rather have one okay friend
than five thousand bad friends. You need that one really,
really really good friend again if you don't have that.

(09:37):
I've always said one of the things I've made some
friends more recently is joining Facebook groups, like there's a
Facebook group for Bourbon and the DMV join that met
my friend Bourbon Ryan off of that. I think that's
a very underutilized thing, especially with how local can be.
Facebook got you covered. I hope you have a great Wednesday.

(09:57):
He gave you good chance. Please please please pre order
my album internjoncomedy dot com. We got two weeks to
get this thing to number one. I'll see you Friday.
