Speaker 1 (00:00):
And a happy Monday friend. Welcome to the Thought Shower.
Intern John is my name. It was indeed a weekend
where to even begin, honestly, so my birthday was last Wednesday.
Didn't really do anything on Wednesday, kind of relaxed. Friday,
went and played golf my good friend Dj Rise. Probably
(00:23):
the worst game of golf in my life. Now again,
as far as golf goes me, I'm just there for
a good time. I'm just there to have some cigars, relax,
drive the cart. I lost more balls pause than I
have ever lost before. The course itself was really hard,
and Brandon said that before we started golfing, and when
(00:46):
the guy we golf with Eric did as well, hey,
this course is very difficult. They were correct. Then I
went and saw Weapons in theaters with my buddy Shane.
Pretty good movie. Pretty good movie. Interesting for sure, was
probably the most full I've seen the theater in a
long time. It was interesting because there was this the
way the seats worked. It's like it's one of those
(01:08):
reclining seats theaters, and so they do it based on
you know twos. There's two seats where it's the arm
rest of the million pulled up and then they have
like the one off seats that make sense, like one
two two two two two one, So if you're a
single person, you can sit by yourself. And I've done
it before. It's lovely. So I picked a seat where
it's the one the two, thinking nobody's gonna take the one.
(01:30):
This guy sat down. I think he had just gotten
like in trouble with his wife because he was on
his phone in the beginning of the previews, and uh,
it was like, I just want to come back. I'm sorry.
He leaves about two minutes for the movie, starts on
his phone and taking a call, comes back about thirty
minutes in the movie. I'm like, dude, there was a
(01:51):
zero percent chance you know what's happening right now.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
None.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Uh don't know if he went home. Don't know if
you enjoy the film, but uh, it was good. I
liked it. It was good. I think I'll say this.
I do like the theme of the movie theaters being
updated now where it's like reclining seats and you can
order food and drink. However, I think the problem is
with those theaters that maybe they didn't realize it's harder
(02:19):
to hide the wear and tear on those theaters, like
the old school theaters, whereas the regular seats or whatever,
it's like, yeah, you expect those of you have beaten up.
But these new school theaters where it's like reclining seats
and all that stuff, that leather gets beaten up pretty
easily because like the one I go to probably has
been open for like five six years, it's like starting
(02:39):
to break down. I'm like, damn, you guys, need to
fix this. Then on Saturday was my birthday party at
Hide Social, the bar I'm involved with, and so Saturday
basically is rested all day and I drank a lot
of water because I knew Saturday was gonna be in
a word, a lot.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
You know.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
My aunt's were in town, which was very exciting, so
Saturday picked them up when got dinner at the restaurant,
which was cool for them to see it because that
they've seen it online before, and I think they really
enjoyed it.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
We got a new cook, new chef rather and he
was fantastic.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
And so my plan on Saturday was like I didn't
want to get like hungover wasted. So this has the
potential to be shot shot shot, hungover wasted. So I
was drinking soda, water and lime for the beginning of
the evening. Then a period of about six minutes, I
did four shots of green tea and that's kind of
where the night went sideways. At one point my aunts
(03:37):
from the DJ booth, Crazy Antaileen brought a giant bag
of marshmallows from Lucky Charms. People were loving those at
the party and it was a fun time. It was
a great time. A lot of folks came out, a
lot of listeners.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Was great. And then Sunday didn't feel that bad when
got brunch months and then went home. And here we are.
This week's me busy, busy week.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
This week we're doing some work at the Jonas Brothers
concert tomorrow. That'll be fun. Them doing a TV on
a Wednesday night on a Fox, which means a little
bit tie tie on Thursday. But it's good. We're doing good.
Birthday went fantastic and here we go. You know, school's
back like next week. I think for a lot of folks,
so very excited. Let me get to this via Monday,
(04:21):
the signs you found a truly loyal friend. I will
say this, Yeah, I've been I realizing this recently. I'm
very blessed to have a lot of good friends, like
really genuinely good people, and I would like to think
that's a reflection of me selfishly, I suppose, but very
blessed for that. Starting with they keep your secrets. Yes,
(04:43):
a loyal friend knows how I keep things private. When
you share your darpest secrets, they're as good as locked
away in a vault. I have several friends like that, right,
I know, Like I don't even have to say them, like, hey,
don't tell anybody, because they won't do it anyway, if
that makes sense, Like they just know, like, Okay, this
is clearly a topic that he wouldn't want anybody else
(05:04):
to know.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
I'm gonna keep it to myself. That's a friend, I
would say.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
A friendly that you can't trust your secrets to isn't
a friend at all, you know what I mean? Because
you can tell when somebody tells you something and it's
like of the nature where they probably don't want anybody
else to know.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
You can tell that.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
So to get that and then be like, yeah, I'm
gonna do it anyway, it's not good. I've talked about
this one at nauseum. They celebrate your success. Yeah, well,
from always shret young. No matter what, they celebrate you
accomplishments with that hint of jealousy or resentment. I've said
this so much and I believe it. Even within the
radio field. I have friends in radio that I love
(05:47):
their success. My friend Billy the Kid in Texas, my
friend e J of course, friend uh Ricky and Nashville,
my friend Wayne and Nashville Folcus in Minnesota, where it's.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
Like, yeah, they just serve it.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
They work hard, and a lot of times too, it's
not like they're taking food off my plate, you know
what I mean. So it's kind of like, Yeah, my
buddy Dante who is starting the hockey program at Tennessee State,
It's like I'm excited for him because to me, it's
like I it's like a teamy rooting for winning, if
that makes sense, where it's like, yeah, I'm pumped. I'm
(06:20):
pumped in their behalf they shove in tough times. True
loyalty shines brice during challenging times when life gets tough,
a loyal friend doesn't vanish or make excuses. Yeah, I
think that's fair. They're there for you, and even if
it's just like a they will sit down not say
(06:41):
anything and just kind of be there. That's a huge thing,
you know obviously with you know Chewy passing this year,
talked about that before. It wasn't great times, It wasn't
a fun time to be around me, you know, especially
because I didn't go out for a long time. I
would and doing like the fun stubs. So it's like, yeah,
(07:02):
those folks that know it's gonna be probably burdensome for
them as well, but still do it because they care,
no doubt. They're reliable, reliability, corner stent of loyalty. A
loyal friend is someone you can count on the matter
the circumstance, they follow through their promises and commitments. Yeah,
that's kind of obvious. I would also say too, they're
(07:23):
reliable going back to the previous one. Even in bad times,
you know they're gonna be there. I have friends where
it's like not that I can done physical violence, but
f I was like, hey, I need you going back
to middle school to meet me on the corner at
this time we got to fight somebody. I have friends
that be like, yeah, we're going. We're going right now,
(07:44):
no questions asked here we are. Yeah, they forgive your
mistakes Yes, everyone makes mistakes. The loyal friend knows how
to forgive. They understand nobody is perfect and mishaps are
part of life.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
I also think too that they keep going. I think
because they know who you are as a person and
they know you're good, they just kind of keep going.
I think, not friends, what's well on the mistake. Real friends.
It's like the train's not slowing down, or maybe it's
slowing down, but it's not stopping, and that's huge. Some
of my favorite ones. Real friends will defend you in
(08:19):
your absence. Yeah, a loyal friend stands up for you
even when you're not around. They don't tolerate the nitpicking
or negative talk about you. If someone tries to undermine you,
they step in and set the record straight. Yes, I
was talking to somebody recently about a friend.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
I said to.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
Them, Hey, if this person's willing to talk this way
in front of you, imagine what they're saying behind your back.
And that's one of the realist lessons I think you'll
learn life. If there's somebody who's saying things they shouldn't
say when you're there, imagine what they say when you're
not there. And it's crazy it's not a fun thing
to think. It's not a fun thing to have in
(08:58):
your mind, but it's I do think that people get
a little bit too comfortable, sometimes a little bit overestimate
their place. You know, what they can say with them
and get away with I think that's no doubt. But
you want to know you have a friend that can
defend you when you're out there, because also you need
friends that speak positively of positively of you when you're
(09:21):
in different rooms.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
You know.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
I'd like to think that's like part of my career
has been with that, where I've had folks that I
enjoy like me, who have talked about me in a
positive way, and that's helped me out. Look, I hope
you have a fantastic Monday. Thank you for listening. It
would mean a lot if you followed me. If you
