Speaker 1 (00:00):
And a happy Wednesday friend. Welcome to the Thought Shower.
Intern John is my name? What a week, busy week,
A lot of memories this week. It was eight years
ago yesterday that we started the comedy tour. The very
first comedy show was eight years ago yesterday in Bethesda,
(00:21):
which is crazy to think about. Yeah, that's why I
first met d first met Kyle. Was supposed to be
a show. Here we are eight years later, over one
hundred thousand dollars raised to the Fisher House, which is crazy. Crazy.
If you had told me everything that would have happened,
like go back in time eight years ago and tell
(00:42):
me everything that's going to happen in my life, I
would not believe it. Would not believe the comedy stuff certainly,
you know, because again that was supposed to be just
like a day of shows. We had two shows, and
then like the next month we did some shows in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania,
and then I kind of sat back. I was like, Okay,
obviously people will try to, you know, book the show
(01:03):
that didn't happen. So then beginning of that following January
sorry booking the tour, myself took it on the road Tampa, Louisville,
Harrisburg and everywhere, which is crazy. It's just crazy to
think about that. In kind of wrong. I guess that
you know. Eight years ago is the first show. This week,
(01:24):
I dropped the album, the stand Up Album, which is wild.
If you've gotten it, thank you. If you haven't brought,
you still got time. Internshooncomedy dot com. You click the
buy button right there to pre order my stand up
album intern John the album. I have said that the
album goes number one across the charts. I will give
(01:45):
my dad seven minutes of unwell guided stand up time
on the radio show, so it's like five bucks the
whole album. You get some bonus stuff from there as well,
like the my dad's jokes about dating. Plus you get
the Chewy and skitt song, which is my absolute favorite
as well, very very easy to do. So so interns
(02:08):
John Comedy dot Com benefits the Fisheriss Foundation. I'm also
excited because tomorrow is the soft opening of the restaurant
that I'm involved with, which is very interesting, it's very scary.
So tomorrow, so Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday we're doing
like a soft launch of the restaurant bar that I'm
(02:29):
a part owner of and it's gonna be exciting. Now
I'm a little bit bit worried because tomorrow Thursday, Sauce
is coming and she'll tell me exactly what she's thinking,
so I'll know in the first couple of seconds if
it's up to power or not. It's just kind of
cool because you know, the space itself was a restaurant
(02:49):
in the past, and then you know, that restaurant closed
and we kind of took it over, and then it's
gonna be just kind of like, you know, putting some
new paint on it, but turned into gutting the whole thing,
kind of starting from scratch, and now it looks so
good on the inside. Oh my god, looks so freaking good.
It's kind of like a a great place to get
(03:11):
a cocktail with your friends, to be able to actually
sit down and have a conversation with somebody without there
being loud music in the background, like to a lot
of music, without worrying about somebody stepping on your shoe
or trying to fight you. Just kind of a good vibe.
Is called Hide Social, Hyde Social and Clarendon. So these
soft launches this weekend next weekend we do the grand opening.
(03:32):
I'm just excited. It's very cool. The food's so good too.
Oh my god, our food's really good. We got these
chicken tendees and they're like ham breaded, so they're like
they're made with love. DM I'm saying. We have these
sandwiches called Monte Cristo's. I believe that's what they're called.
It's like ham, cheese and powdered sugar. So good. We
got steak that's really good, got burger. I mean, all
(03:53):
the food is really good. The cocktails are as well.
I'm just excited. Man. There's a lot of good stuff
going on right now. You know, I always try to
embrace myself. You know, there's a there's a quote by
Tom Hanks that I saw. He's talking about this too
shell pass and that's for the good and a bad.
Like if things are going really good, that's gonna pass.
Things are going really bad, that's gonna pass. So it
(04:15):
certainly feels like right now if things are on an
upward climb, which I'm very grateful for, but always you know,
keeping the eye out, you know what I mean. Hockey
starting soon as well, and I'm just excited. There's a
lot going on. It's just it's it's unique for me
because it's two pretty big projects that I have putting out,
(04:37):
and two very big projects that I obviously care a
lot about. And now it's like, you know, with the album, certainly,
it's like you you write the material and you get
it to where you think it's perfect, and it's a
very personal thing. Like the comedy is a very personal thing.
Obviously I went through, you know, a bit of a
stuff this past twelve months, and so it's a very
(04:58):
personal thing to write that and then performing. But now
to put it out in the open, and it's like
it's gonna be yours forever. It's it's no longer mine,
if that makes sense. It's a very scary thing saying.
With the restaurants, like we put a lot of work
into it. My buddy Chuck had been the spearhead certainly,
and now it's like here we come to the open.
It's like we had a vision, we've done everything we can,
(05:20):
and now it's up to you. It's a very scary thing.
Did though. I'm excited though at the same time, so
hopefully you get a chance to come to the restaurant
or a chance to get the album. The album it's
really good. The restaurant also really good. Let me get
to this too for your Wednesday. The sign your partner
might not see you as an equal man. I have
(05:41):
been in relationships before where I think this was the
case where it was just like, I think they thought
they were doing me a favor. Told the story before.
But I had an ex who once told my mom, like,
the reason that we broke up was because we didn't
go on enough vacations. I don't know quite what she
thought my mom's reaction was gonna be. My mom just said, though, well,
maybe you should pay for them then, which I yeah,
(06:04):
kudos to Peggy. Uh. Starting with they're always right, even
when they're clearly wrong, they say. If they act like
being wrong, it's not an option for them. If they
never admit their mistakes, that is a sign they see
their relationship as not being equal. Again, that same ex,
I remember, she could never admit she was wrong. It
was always one of those things where it's like, hey,
if you just admit that you're wrong, we can move on,
(06:26):
you know what I mean. And it was a case
where it was like, uh, it was such an obvious
she was in the wrong situation that like, by her
just not omitting it, it made it worse, if that
makes sense, Where it's like, if you just admitted you
were wrong, we can move on, things would be fine.
But Nah couldn't do it. If they're more excited about
their wins than yours, Now this is tough. Obviously, you
(06:52):
know you gotta be excited about your own wins, no doubt,
but if they aren't seen my just as close. I
mean with my most recent act, she got like a promotion,
she has some work stuff I was thrilled for. I
thought it was great because I do think it was
kind of like, you know, teamwork. You know, certainly she
did the work obviously, but I was maybe more still
(07:12):
like I was just a fan. It's like cheer on
your favorite team, where it's like your team won the championship.
I was very excited for and vice versa. She's excited
for me for stuff too. But yeah, I think that
would be if they interrupt you like it's their job. Oh,
if you ever notice how your partner talks over you
or cuts you off, like they can't wait for you
finish your thought, constantly being interrupted as a huge flag,
(07:34):
it means they don't see what you have to say,
it's worth listening to, damn especially in public too. Like,
I think that's one of the most awkward things ever,
is when you're with a couple and one always talks
over the other one, because it is like, why would
you not let them speak for themselves? You know, why
would you let them get their opinion if you're the
punchline of their jokes? Yeah, dude, I mean this goes
(07:56):
back to like, when you're in a relationship, you're supposed
to be on the same team. Yeah. Again, I go
back to you if you're doing it in public, where
it just feels like this is a roast session, it's
awkward for everybody. Oh my god. I mean I used
to be a couple friends in a past relationship where
one of the couples she was very upset she hadn't
been proposed to yet, and she brought it up all
(08:20):
the time all the time with say things like well
if I had a ring on my finger over and over.
I was like, God, I cannot stand to hang out
with these people because it's just awkward all the time.
And she's always belittling him, like almost trying to bully
him in proposing. Yeah, if all the emotional workfalls on you,
(08:41):
Oh yeah, if you're the one always organizing plans, checking
out people are feeling, keeping the relationship running smoothly. If
all the emotional labors on your plate, it shows your
partner thinks are above doing the hard work to keep
a relationship going one thousand percent, because again, they just
see it as like you're lucky to have me, you
know what I mean? Why would I put the work
in if you're the one who is lucky to have me.
(09:02):
Don't like that? Let me do one more here, it's
a really good one. Hold if they wait two more, Okay.
They dominate conversations like it's a monologue. This I hate
just in general, as somebody who's talks and talks and
talks and it's like, hey, do you need me in
this conversation or not, because it feels like you kind
(09:24):
of got it by yourself, you know what I mean.
And finally, if they keep score every little thing they
do for you, Yeah, if you haven't hear after all
I've done for you in arguments, Partners who keep score
aren't doing things out of love. They're doing it for leverage.
Hot damn hot, damn. I once on the flip side,
had an argument with the next girlfriend. When I asked through,
I was like, Hey, what do you think you do
(09:46):
for me? Like what do you think you do? And
not in a bad way, but the way she kind
of acted herself was like I pay the bills, I
for both of us, you know what I mean? Like
you don't I do the cleaning, I do everything, Like
what do you think you at And that was a huge,
I think OS moment for her where she's like oh,
because I was like, yeah, if you if we broke
up today, my life would be okay, so like it
(10:10):
wouldn't be extra damage on my plate. That was a long,
long time ago, friends. I hope you have a great
week again to get a chance to get the album.
I greatly appreciate internshoncomedy dot Com.
