Speaker 1 (00:00):
In a happy Wednesday. Friends. Welcome to the thoughts Shower.
Intern Gihon is my name. Feeling better, feeling good, got
the voice back, the bug that I had basically gone.
I feel like still having a hard time swallowing pause,
but doing well, although this week turn out to be

(00:21):
a stressful one. So it is the conference championships for hockey.
Been coaching hockey George Sean Prepp. And the our conference
is interesting because we're a very small school. I think
there's maybe less than one hundred kids per class. So

(00:41):
the winter season conference rules say ends. I believe on Thursday.
All winter sports have to end Thursday. That way kids
can play spring sports because we need kids to play
two sports. That's because the school small is what it is.
I kind of like it means the kids don't just
focus on one sport. They get to have fun. So
season ninety on Thursday means championship game is on Thursday. Well,

(01:05):
playoffs sorted on Monday, and there was supposed to be
a Monday for us. If you win Monday, play Tuesday.
If you win Tuesday, you play Thursday. Tuesday was canceled.
Today was canceled, So we'll see, we'll see what happens.
You know, it's unfortunate. There's not much you can do.

(01:26):
Feel bad for the kids. Certainly, hopefully they give us
like an extension. It'd be nice to do that, like
a Thursday, Friday something like that. But it's tough, you know.
I think of the COVID year where those seniors that
year and not just my seniors, obviously every senior group
out there didn't get to play their senior season, and

(01:46):
how heartbreaking that was because when COVID happened, we were
still having like somewhat practices and with the hope that like,
you know, we're gonna quote unquote flat the curve and
like trying to convince those guys like, hey, you know,
we might get this thing back up and going, and
then slowly the realization of like it's not gonna happen.
It's one of the most heartbreaking things I think I've

(02:08):
ever had to deal with as a coach. So I'm
really hoping this works out. We shall see. Tattoo looks good.
Tattoo looks good. I like it. It's and it's like
not doing anything. The peeling. I've been very diligent about
cleaning it, and I'm like do I get more. I
don't know. I think that I I'm not a fan

(02:30):
of pain, so it had to be something very meaningful.
I think, you know, like one day, decades from now,
I'll get skittles paw on the other side of showy,
so it'll be like paw music note music section if
you will, other paw. But like I think, I don't
know if I'm getting tattoos for the stake of getting

(02:52):
tattoos guy only because friend of the show Pete Davidson
had to get all of his burned off, and like
that sounds worse than getting a tattoo. That sounds like
an absolute nightmare. So I don't know. I do feel
more badass, I think give off that edge. You know,
yesterday had a regular coke instead of die coke mixed
in the ghetter. Even I took a half die coke

(03:14):
half regular coke, put them together because I just don't
give a dang. I have a pepsi glass. You know.
That's how I'm rolling recently. It's just it's I want
to say it's scary, but it's it's a new me
for sure. I set up until nine o'clock the other
day on a weekday. So I'm saying is if you
see me at the gym, better watch out, mainly because

(03:38):
I've only been in the gym like four times this year.
It's been a bad year for the gym. I gotta
get that back on track. And I was and I
got six. That sucks. So I'm trying to better of
like not forcing it to like not being like, well,
gotta get back in the gym today. It's like, well,
if you're sick, it's probably not a good idea. So anyway,
here we are, happy Wednesday. These are the things to

(03:59):
stop putting off because they're making you miserable. Starting off
the bat with telling somebody you love them, they say,
we assume the people in our lives know how much
we love them, but do they Love isn't just about
grand gestures. It's the small, everyday things. Expressing love is
training things. Relationships improves mental health. I've realized this with

(04:19):
my friends, and my friends say we love each other more.
I think it's just like a yeah, it's good to know,
it's good to hear, it's good to to have. I
get I think that, you know, the last six weeks
have been an absolute nightmare. Yeah, there's no other way
quite to put it. It's absolute nightmare. I mean even

(04:41):
today I was getting up and I was getting in
my closet. In my head, I was like, oh, I
turn around, chew, He's gonna be on the bed looking
at me. And he wasn't. Obviously what if he was?
WHOA I guess I bring up to say, Yeah, it's
been nice having people reach out, you know. So that's
been very nice. And I know that people can about me.
My friend Justin who works for NBC sends me a

(05:04):
voice notes, a checking in, and that's it's very nice,
as as somebody who doesn't tend to ask for that
kind of stuff as never, it's nice to get it.
It's nice to know that the good you put out
in the world you get back, if that makes sense.
So yeah, I think that makes that makes all the
sense in the world. Breaking up with a toxic friend, Yes,

(05:26):
I preach this, life's too short for cheap liquor and
bad friends. Letting go of a toxic friendship isn't cruel,
it's self care. You deserve relations to uplift, inspire and
make you feel valued. Yeah, if you leave hanging out
with your friend and you feel like you aren't having
a good time or you feel bad about yourself, get
rid of them taking the dream trip. See, this is

(05:49):
something that I've tried to do better of. It's for me.
It started probably six years ago. I went to Puntakana
and was drunk, booked it on a whim, went by myself,
had an amazing time, and then I started to get
better at that my last relationship, Like we went to

(06:10):
Puntakana and Jamaica. That was lovely. And then last year
I went to Toronto. I got a really cool trip
coming up with my brother and my dad in April.
We're going to New Orleans for a cigar function, cigar conference.
But then I think my dad and I have a
really cool trip that we Uh, it's almost fully planned.

(06:33):
I don't want to say anything yet and jinx it,
but it's nearly fully planned that I think. I mean,
it's certainly gonna be a once in a lifetime opportunity,
uh for mee and him, which would be cool. And
for my mom it'll be her own vacation because I'll
be traveling with him, so all I'll have a greater
appreciation for the strength and patience of my mother. As
I traveled my father on the international waters, so that's

(06:56):
going to be exciting. Their point is there's no perfect
time to travel. Well, there's always any reasons to delay money,
job responsibilities, YadA, YadA. They say people who invest in
experiences over over possessions report higher level of long term happiness.
I do think that, yeah, And like there's so many
cool places you can go, even the United States, where

(07:18):
like you can go to the beach and like feel
like you're away. I think it's so important to do.
I mean, I like going to the woods. That's always
in my kind of like getaway. But yeah, treat yourself go.
I think with vacations too, it's like, rarely will you
regret spending the money. You know, in the moment where
you book the trip, you might, but when you're there,

(07:40):
rarely will you go I probably shouldn't have spent this much.
I don't think that really happens. You know, you deserve
the experience, and hey, my dad always said you can
always make more money. So I have a feet picks
ready to go, and they are nasty. Last one is
making that long overdue apology. They say, you're not too busy.
Your prize isn't worth more than relationships. If you owe

(08:02):
somebody in apology, delaying it only deepens the damage. As
sincere I'm sorry. I can repair bridges. He didn't even
realize we're burning. I think that's fair. I do think
that this is something I've been trying to teach my
kids that coach. It's like we kind of live in
like a gotcha society in which I don't think is good.
I think that's like, yeah, we almost punish people who

(08:24):
do apologize. It seems like sometimes, but there's nothing wrong
with with apologizing doesn't show weakness. I think it shows strength.
I really do. There's nothing to me it's more weak
than when somebody is wrong and they can't ammit they're wrong.
That to me is the greatest sign of weakness. It's like, yo,
what are you afraid of? Like how insecure you They

(08:44):
can't just say, hey, I was wrong. You know. I
think it's far easier like I'll I williingly admit, especially
with coaching guys. I make mistakes all time, all time.
Listen to the radio show The whole Show's a mistake,
start to finish. I think I do writers end the show.
That's about it. Look. I'd be of a great Wednesday.
If you want to see my tattoo, I would love

(09:06):
your thoughts on Instagram, at intern Gen Radio. I'll see
you Friday,
