Speaker 1 (00:00):
And a happy Wednesday friend. Welcome to the Thought Shower
intern John is my name. Appreciate you listening. By the way,
voting ends Friday Baltimore's Sun they're having their Best of
Baltimore issue. Myself in sauce up for Radio Hosts of
the Year, which is very exciting. You have my thoughts
(00:20):
Shower podcast, which is this podcast for podcasts of the
Year against Hoodies Crisis podcast. I'm up for a few
social media awards. The station up for Station of the Year.
If you give chants to vote, vote y ms dot com,
and it means a lot to us. It's one of
those things where and this is not to sound woe
(00:41):
is me, we don't get a lot of recognition. I
don't know if that's deservedly so or not. So this
is very cool be nominated, but it's also cool for
us to win, like it helps us out, It helps
us get on some radars within our company. And so
if you gives chance today and tomorrow and Friday, vote
(01:01):
yms dot com. That's vote yms dot com. Now, as
this podcast comes out, my dad and I will be
flying back from Milan to New York then back to
the district of Columbia. This the end of the trip
will be fun because that is the trip to Italy,
and originally wanted to do some more time in Italy.
(01:23):
I had looked at doing some things, but I guess
you know, I'm kind of glad we didn't do Italy
for one thing, I mean not well, we're doing Italy,
but not like Rome and Florins and things in Venice
because two reasons. Number one, it's like Italy's bi centennial.
I know it's not a bi centennial because it's older
than two hundred years, but it's some big celebration of
(01:46):
how old they are. Number one. Number two, they're trying
to find new pope. So like, I can't think of
a worse time to be in Rome than when they're
trying to find new pope. That would have been a disaster.
So when this comes out yesterday, we have done a
Lake Como trip. That sole reason for that part of
the trip was to see where they filmed Star Wars.
(02:10):
So I'm excited. My dad has not seen Star Wars
Attack of the Clones. I would bet my entire salary
on that he has not done that. But it'll still
be fun. It'll still be a cool place to see.
Then the lovely fight back. So knock on wood, everything
goes well, that sounds darker than it's meant to. I
(02:30):
meant like delays, not like I'm not even gonna say
it out loud because that'd be the worst way to
end this podcast. So anyway, make sure your phone along
on the Instagram at wymus Radio. Let me get to
this for your Wednesday. The reasons men walk away from
relationships and what it really means. Now I've done this,
(02:51):
so that meant to be a flex But as far
as I know, I've never been dumped, and I do
think that as I was going through these, some of
them like, yeah, that kind of makes sense. Starting with
he doesn't feel appreciated. Now again, I know this goes
both ways. Let me just say that I know this
goes both ways. However, this particular article is just talking
(03:13):
about dude's reasons for leaving.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
So they say everyone likes to feel valued. Men are
no different.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
If he feels like everything he's doing is going unnoticed,
where he's taking for granted, it can start to wear
him down. Yeah, I think at that point, dudes like
to feel valued. They're saying, right, that's kind of like
the whole thing that little boys are raised on is
you need to bring value. You have to bring value
to everything. You need to be valuable to your coworkers,
(03:39):
to your friends, everything. So but dude doesn't feel like
that what he does is valued. He's gonna take it
elsewhere because at that point, it's like it doesn't really
matter if I'm here or not, you know, it doesn't
quite matter.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
And I've been there before.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
Where it's just like I don't think, yeah, that person
realized everything I.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Did not even just like mainly it's like showing up.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
I didn't realize how I was shown up for them,
And so it's like, yeah, I'm just gonna it's gonna
go show up for me, you know.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
And that was the right decision.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
If the emotional connection is fading, they see emotional into
intimacy is the glue that holds relationships together. Is he
starts to feel distance from you, it can leave him
feeling empty without that deeper emotional bond, it's harder for
him to stay invested. I had that with an X
as well, where it didn't feel like and I remember
saying this to her, It's like, hey, we're barely friends
(04:35):
at this point. You know, it just didn't feel like
not even we were connecting. It just kind of felt like, again,
we're barely friends. Like I don't like being around you.
I don't feel like we're like emotionally connected. Yeah, he
doesn't feel heard. It's a communication is big deal in relationships,
and he feels like his thoughts and concerns or feelings
(04:57):
of being ignored. It can lead him second guess in
a relationship. Let me just say this, and this might
be the most important point.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
Dudes.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
My generation of dudes and I would say the generation
after me, were raised that nobody really cares what we
think reality, nobody cares about our feelings, nobody cares what
we think.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Be a man, Suck it up. That's how we were raised.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
So for a dude to open up and express what
he needs is a huge thing.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
Is a huge thing.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
So if a dude does that and it feels like
it was falling on deaf ears, that's like it.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
You know.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
There's a video on TikTok that went viral about two
months ago. It was this fella outside who was crying
because he had like a long line of like steel
cable and he had bought it as a giant ball
of cable, you know, thirty years before, and like how
much of it was gone. He was crying and his
wife was kind of making fun of him, and he's
just like, why are you crying and he's like, well,
(05:57):
you know, I had this as a young man and
this is all it's left. And she kept crying at him,
or she kept laughing at him, and it was like
the comments like, yo, he's just opening up to you
about like you know, his life flying by and you're
laughing at him. It's like, don't expect him to ever
do that again. And I think that's true again, Like
(06:17):
if you want a dude to open up and he
does and you reject him opening up, good luck having
it happen again. Like that took a lot of courage
him to do that, and so yeah, he doesn't feel heard,
it does won't happen again if the physical intimacy has
faded now again. I know I've seen people say, well,
that's because you know she doesn't feel X Y and Z.
(06:40):
I understand understanding completely again, but this is just from
the lens of the guy's perspectives. I'm not like, obviously
a dude sill has to be doing his own thing, like,
you know, helping out, keeping hup his end of the bargain. Yes,
but just on behalf of dude's physical intimacy, according the experts,
is important romantic relationships. If the spark starts to fizzle out,
(07:02):
he might feel like something essentials missing. Lack of physic
physical connection lead him feeling disconnected or like he's doing
something wrong, especially if his attempts to reading it the
spark haven't worked.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
Again at that point, like I've been in relationships, mainly
this one. I'm thinking of a long time ago where
like that kind of faded and it was like, hey,
we're like so we're not really romantic, we don't really
like each other.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
What are we doing? What are we doing? And that
didn't help too.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
At that point, that girlfriend's best friend said to her,
once you know, and she was trying to be helpful
to me, but like, golly didn't come off that way.
She's like, you know, if John wanted to, he could
this cheat on you. I was like, my god, why
would you say that? And she's like, well, I was
trying to help him, Like I don't think that. I
don't think that's gonna help. I'm gonna be honest, I don't.
(07:53):
The next one is the reason dudes leave. He feels
drained by constant drama or conflict. They say, No one
likes fighting all time. If the relationship has more drama
or conflict than peace and joy, it can take a
toll over time. Yes, and I read this a long
time ago. I wish I knew where I found it
because it's so true. Men's brains were hardwired to fix
(08:15):
conflict because we know another battle's coming. It goes back
to the caveman days. It goes back to you know,
crusades if you will. But like, our brains are so that,
like we want to fix the battles because we know
the war is coming. And it does feel like it
doesn't quite matter what you do, that everything kind of
(08:35):
goes wrong. Yeah, that's gonna be a bit of a problem.
That's gonna be a bit of like a why am
I putting my energy into this if it doesn't make
sense if it always goes bad. Yeah, I think that's
beyond Drew if he's getting emotional support elsewhere. I mean,
this goes both ways, certainly, right. They say, sometimes man
(08:56):
walk away because they're emotionally checked out and they're getting
their support somewhere else. Again, I know that this goes
both ways. I understand that. I'm not saying it's not,
but dudes need to feel appreciated as well. Like that's
just the reality.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
I think I wrote this down.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
I don't know if I ever said in the podcast
I wrote down in louisvillecause it's like, oh my god,
this is makes sense. It's like, if you want him
to treat you like the princess you are, you gotta
treat him like the Knight and shining Armor.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
Like that's it. That's do you know.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
Uh, that goes both ways, certainly, but like, yeah, you
gotta treat him like the night and shining Armor and
he'll treat you like the princess. Dudes want to be
the hero of their story. They do for you, for
your family, for whatever. Dudes want to be the hero.
We've been raised to be the hero. We want to
be the hero. And uh yeah, obviously, happy healthy relationships.
(09:49):
That's been the goal of the show. That's been the
model of the show. By the way, speaking of shows.
