Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, we ain't done this in a minute, and
the powers that be like, heyo, do one of those
podcasts things y'all do, get on it right, So we
decided to go ahead and sit down and chop it
up sonacast times.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
She girl, SONA, what's up?
Speaker 3 (00:12):
Hey? You play it the gbiz.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
So the holiday, I didn't really talk about everything that
we did because there was.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Some craziness that went on.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
Tell me why I saw my daughter's BB at Target.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
We don't talk at all.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
So so so herd got you. So her the sperm.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Donor, Yes, was there randomly? Wow, and I just went
funny and walking. So that was a highlight.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
And it was on her birthday too.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
It was a beautiful time because we kicked it at
Benny Hannah her friends came out.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
Look at that.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Yeah, and so we had a good time. That ran
up my bill a little bit. You know. We had
the whole hibachi thing. I think my our cook's name
was James, So that was dope. And then we sticked.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
We stuck around for some volleyball and then we headed
to Fresno.
Speaker 4 (01:01):
Okay, how was life in the five five to nine?
Speaker 1 (01:05):
I didn't even get a chance to hit the casinos.
They're saying Table Mountain Casino up there is like Vegas. Now. Really,
I did not even get a chance to get up there,
and I asked my dad, but you know, he's pushing
like eighties, so you know, for him to get around.
And we did get around a bit. Yeah, we spent
a whole two and a half hours at the gosh
damn a second hand store. I would have rather spent
(01:27):
that kicking around the slots over there Table Mount and
Chuck Johnson at.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Least getting some drinks and throwing some money around.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
Damn it, because I did not want anything in there.
I did.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Look, It's not like I'm above doing secondhand thing. Matter
of fact, it's pretty popular right now to go in
there and try to find something. I remember one time
I found this like train conductor watch, like a stopwatch,
a pocket watch for my dad, and I gave it
to him. I went home and he had it on
his chair and he thought my sister gave it to him.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
So that's that's where we're at.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
Oh okay.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
I was like, nah, I gave that to you. But
it's cool.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
So I know he can push around a bit. But
we just didn't get a chance to hit the casinos.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
We did what.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Pops wanted to do, man, And it was just about
hanging out with family and eating some good food. And
my daughter got to kick it with her cousin. She
loved that time. Yeah, and that's about it. And I
know your pops is in Fresno, but you didn't head
out that way.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
I did not, you know.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
Actually, the day before Thanksgiving, his wife actually had surgery
on her knee. Heel up quickly, Janis yes, sending love
and prayers.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
Janna thinks everybody wants Andrew. Oh God, don't know. And
his wife's.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
Always like, yeah, they always hitting on Drew. She won't.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
She tell us stories all the time, like you can
just see you kid, I gotta give him away, beat
him off of the stick. But yeah, so she's recovering.
So my dad was out there focusing on that. So
I stayed at home, man, really, And I didn't even
go like rock with none of my aunties and nothing
like that like I typically do.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
I stayed my ass at home. Man.
Speaker 4 (02:55):
I'm just tired, like this year has just gosh, it's
drag on so long. I feel like we've all had
so many things that have happened not only just in
society but just daily life. You know, fucking inflation and
everything else is beating us over the head.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
So I was like, bro, you know what, I.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
Made some food at home and stayed my ass in
the crib and I was like, that's what I pay
rent for, so I'm gonna do that.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Ain't nothing better than that, no, you know.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
And funny you say you saw yo.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Whatever X whatever, just there is.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
Do you know?
Speaker 4 (03:29):
I was shopping and I saw mine in the store
as well while I was with my little lady friend,
So I had to do my best avoiding job.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Hopefully she doesn't listen to this and she'd be.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
Like, oh, oh, did you really for sure saw her
in the store eyeballing me, And I'm like, you.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
Know what, I'm just go wait outside, ran bro I
had already No, I didn't pay.
Speaker 4 (03:53):
I bought all the running, bought all the groceries, and
I was like, you know what, I'm gonna just go
start loading.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Up the car. You know, uh yeah, it was in
the safe route. It was time to go.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
So what would you have done if she came up
and was like, huh, this is your new lady friend.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
What we doing walked away. Okay, I would have walked away,
as you know. It's just the energy, you know, I
definitely don't need it, you know. I just feel like
right now, just I'm in a good space. You stay
wherever the hell you at right hopefully it's far far
from me. So I'm yeah, for sure it was just
mobbed off. I'll for show what have but you know,
(04:29):
but outside of that, I think the holiday was cool.
I feel like Les probably had the best one out
of all of us. I mean, you can't go wrong
in Vegas.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Man, he looked like he had a good time. He
needed a break, that guy.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
If you don't know, and you listen to our show
every day of the week, man, he writes in from Oakley, right,
which for you Bay.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
Area folks, you know that's a dip.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
Literally one hundred and twenty miles round trip every day, wow,
every day to come here and be in the mix,
like you guys think it's all like Wizard of Allz
magic smoke and puffs, like we're real people in here
and just trying to get a job done and lex
like for sure, Above and beyond gets here like before you.
So most days and just you know, sticks around and
(05:12):
earns his check and then you know, does whatever else
he has to do for other radio stations and whatnot.
So shout out to that guy Lex. He definitely needed it.
Got blessed him with a little chit chinghing when he
got to Vegas put in an want a hundred. So
you know, shoot, the house always wins at least, you know,
sometimes you just break even.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
You're happy for that, but he actually won, so he
was happy.
Speaker 4 (05:32):
Yeah, it was a beautiful thing man. Also, I will
say we got to send some love to some of
our Bay area family who didn't have such a good holiday,
you know. Seeing what happened with those kids over there
in Pea, my man, was heartbreaking.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
Yeah, Kristen, Soren and Jack I believe we're the three
Piedmont High school kids who it was all over the news.
I mean it was what three am Thanksgiving morning. They
were in a cyber truck. I guess they don't really
know how the story went. Could have been speeding involved,
there could have been drinking involved. There could have been
(06:04):
a number of things, but they still don't know obviously,
because the cyber truck immediately burst into flames and only
one kid I believe his name was Jordan's survived because
there was a car of kids coming from the same
function behind him, or one dude at least that was
actually able to pull him out of the back. But
the front whoever was up there like they got, you know,
(06:25):
crushed between the tree and that divider wall. So can
you imagine like waking up the you know, shoot, they
probably didn't sleep and there was Thanksgiving canceled, Like how
could you even move forward? You got some freshman college
freshmen that didn't even make it home that morning to
celebrate with their family. So that was really sad.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
Man.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
There was a lot going on for Thanksgiving, including football.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
Oh man, I'm gonna.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
Switch it up because I was happy.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
We watched Shout out to my guy Mike Washington out
there in sacrament He is a New York Giants fan.
He swears he's from New York. I was like, Mike,
you left before you were even one years old. Okay,
you're from where you went to high school.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
Man, that still counts, so you're from Sack.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
But he's a huge Giants fan and we seem to
beat them all the time. We got the Giants number,
I guess the Cowboys, So yeah, we won and I
saw my turn duccin. He kicked it big with the fam.
You know, my dad was happy about that win. Yeah,
I mean it was a beautiful one, I'll tell you that.
Much certainly better than the lost the Raiders took. You
know it, we always play Kansas City. I feel like hard,
(07:36):
you know what I mean. But damn man, that game
was heartbreaking. I'm sitting there and I'm trying my best
not to let them drive me to drink. Oh, it
doesn't take much, you know, it definitely doesn't doesn't take much.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
But as I'm watching the game and receiving voice notes
from my brother, just back and forth, he's elated in one,
the next one he's cursing.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
And then it went all the.
Speaker 4 (08:04):
Way down to the wire, like literally the last couple
of seconds, and then what happens. We're driving. You got
the chance to win the game, you only down two points.
One field goal will do it. You're in damnar field
goal range, and instead of just saying, you know what,
we'll kick it here, you try to go for another
another play. Center snaps the ball, instant fumble, and boom
(08:26):
they lose in true Raider fashion.
Speaker 3 (08:27):
It was so bad. I ain't even gonna lie. Bro.
My litt lady friend was sitting there trying to hang on.
Speaker 4 (08:31):
She's absolutely not a Raiders fan, but she was like,
I'm gonna be with you in this in spirit, Bro.
By the end of the game, she was the one
drinking and walking around the house custod.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
She was like, I never.
Speaker 4 (08:40):
Again am I watching a full Raider game and start
to finish if this is how you end, Like, how
do you live like this? I said, Well, at least
you know I'm loyal.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
Yeah, at least you know, And now you know why
I'm a drunkard?
Speaker 3 (08:49):
Right they take me there every right, bro?
Speaker 1 (08:53):
Right? And then of course watching my guy from Fireball.
So that's where I grew up. That's where I want
to high school. I think when I meet strangers, I'm like,
I'm from Fresno because I went to college there, But
really I went to Fireball High the same high school
that Josh Allen went to.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
Was the QB for those Buffalo Bills.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
And even in that knee deep snow or ankle deep
at least man he went out there and bawled out
against the San Francisco forty nine ers. So that franchise
is just crumbling too. Man, It's been a weird football season.
Speaker 4 (09:23):
A lot of injuries, definitely has been you know, the
Niners honestly probably gonna go into rebuilding mode after this.
I would be shocked if they didn't go ahead and
give Rock pretty another contract because he definitely needs it
at the end of the year. But they're probably gonna
start moving some pieces around.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
Man. To be honest, you know, I'm.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
Gonna say it's gonna be Bills and Chiefs at the
Super Bowl this year.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
Really, you know what, well, well, they'll they'll play in
the AFC Championship Game.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
I think I think the Lions actually have a really
good chance of getting to the ball.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
These fans are good too, because last year, you know,
they lost those Niners in the NFC Championship Game, so
they could have been there. But I think I think
the Lions will probably be there. And I'm I can't
wait to see the Bills take the Chiefs because that's
gonna be a hell of a game show. We'll see
one of them will be there.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
Yeah, that's gonna be a who's who. And I went
and made time. I saw every damn movie that people
were talking about. Yes, so the big hitters for the
holiday weekend were Gladiator, Muwana two, and Wicked.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Yeah, and all three of them. I saw all three,
Damn yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
I was on it because what else, you know, We
got home a little early from Fresno on Friday, and
I was like, shoot, let's just go to the movies, right,
aside from finishing my house decorations or whatever for Christmas.
And so I walked out on Gladiator. Why so, I
didn't elaborate that much on the air because we only
got so much time when I play music and whatever.
But I was just really disappointed on the storyline, the
(10:51):
filmography of it, the cinemography of it, how they shot it,
and I didn't see the purpose and having Denzel Washington
in it aside from star power, right, because everybody was keeked.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
They kept putting Denzel out there. Denzel's in this Denzel Denzel, And.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
I'm like, okay, and you really got Denzel from Training
Day in this movie because it just looked like he
was at Dirty Cop, but in some robes.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
In this movie because he kind of played a villain
or whatever.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
You know, he replaced I forgot who played the original
yeah villain from the first one.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
Yeah, well not villain, but he was the.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
I don't know the best I could describe h as
Ringmaster because it kind of had like a traveling entertainment
thing and like sales thing of people and animals and whatever.
But he replaced that role and I just felt like
it wasn't necessary. And aside from him, the actors in it, yeah,
a little spar huh kind of sopar.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
Well, you know he does.
Speaker 4 (11:54):
He definitely I say he sat into that antagonist role absolutely.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
And yeah, it did.
Speaker 4 (12:01):
He felt like it was definitely points in it because
I did watch it as well.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
Definitely was points in it where he was giving.
Speaker 4 (12:06):
Officer a Lonzo from training day, so I see where
you at with it, just you know, with the Veneers
in now, he's just trying to hold on to his teeth.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
And there was some extra overacting. I think that he
did too, which is normal for him. And I remember
when him and Pedro they were doing like a red
carpet or something. He was like, oh, I'm so happy
to be getting the trilogy, so I guess there's gonna
be another one. And Denzel was like, that's cool, I'm
not gonna be in it, and I thank you for
that Denzel, because you know, he's a.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
He's an artist.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
He's like, you know, he respects his craft, and I couldn't.
I don't know, and maybe I'm being too harsh. Y'all
tell me comment below. Whatever would you think a Gladiator too?
I just felt like it didn't it didn't do the
first one any justice. And I watched the first one
with my daughter the day before we went to go
watch that.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
It was just like a build up.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
I shouldn't have done that, you know, because.
Speaker 1 (12:54):
The expectation is like when I watched Top Gun, the
new one that Tom Cruise did, I.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
Was like, Okay, y'all did justice.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
Yeah to the other one in that Maverage point, yeah, exactly.
But for Gladiator, I just had really high hopes and
it was I walked out. I walked out of the
movie theater and I paid thirty seven dollars for some
mattin ae te guess.
Speaker 4 (13:13):
That's crazy, you know, I will say. By the end
of it, though, the guy who's playing the main character,
he I.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
Think he he Demacamus the Sun, yeah, by the Queen's sister.
Speaker 3 (13:24):
Yeah, he definitely.
Speaker 4 (13:25):
He gets to a point where I think he gets
you excited to see if they do have another one.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
I could see where it could actually do. Well.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
Well, you watched it for free? Yeah yeah, I did
not I paid, so I was hot. So then so
then out of all the ones that you watch, which
one was your pa was moving on Somana to uh huh?
I guess my daughter read something online about how Mwana
was going to be the first transgender Disney princess.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
Really, and I don't you know, they create.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
All kinds of fluff and bs on TikTok and untrue whatever,
And I don't know if that's the case.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
Great whatever you guys decide. I don't care.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
So we kind of went into it thinking there might
be some kind of there's nothing in thereabout it. It's just
her with MAUI, just battling to save their people and
actually join people all together.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
I thought it was great, Like I got.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
Last minute tickets at nine am on a Saturday, and
so we were sitting in the front, like in the
disabled row.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
All the way in the.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
Front, you gotta binge your neck all the way back,
like your shoulders hurt.
Speaker 2 (14:32):
You try to shug your shoulders, but like you know,
one row back with a little walkway.
Speaker 1 (14:36):
In between so we laid all the way back so
we weren't straining or looking at it weird, and I
just just dripping, just running.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
Down my face almost the entire time. I'm like, where
are these coming from?
Speaker 1 (14:48):
At some point I think I lost control of my
body just wanted to do what it wanted to do.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
I just was rolling tears down my eyes. But I
don't know.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
It's all those you know, empowerment shows, and I'm thinking
about the young girls who see it, and like my
connection to my mom and my grandma and you know,
all the things that Disney always brings to light in
their films that just touch your heart in your own way.
And I think that's why they're always so successful, is
that they just relate to you. And if it doesn't immediately,
(15:16):
somehow you find a way to be like, oh, you know,
like I still feel like I see my grandma or
like whatever the case may be, so.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
I can dig that it was dope.
Speaker 4 (15:24):
Yeah, you know, I'll certainly say, you know, like you mentioned,
Disney's great for that. I mean, hell, I can't watch
Cocoa without getting you a thug tear here and there.
Speaker 1 (15:31):
Oh my god, I'm talking about remember me, man, Jesus,
I'm welling up now, young Miguel. But then wicked. Yeah,
so how was that two hours and fifty minutes?
Speaker 3 (15:43):
Damns?
Speaker 1 (15:45):
And I made the mistake of having buttered popcorn okay
for lunch with no meal before that. Historically, that turns
my stomach into fight night. Oh no, I don't know
why I didn't revert back to what I already knew.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
You'd just be thinking I'm gonna.
Speaker 3 (16:05):
Beat it today. Hell no, didn't happen.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
That fake butter and that deliciousness just ran through me.
Speaker 3 (16:13):
Damn.
Speaker 1 (16:13):
So me and I hate so. My daughter and we
were watching the movie. It was a lot of music, as.
Speaker 3 (16:19):
You know, yeah, musical rights and.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
The woman in it. God, I gotta look up her name.
Speaker 1 (16:24):
I want to do her justice because she did such
a great job in the movie along with Ariana Grande,
just did an amazing job. And she is actually the
star of the Broadway. She played el fab el Faba,
el Faba. Yeah, that's how you say it, So let
me see. I want to find her name because I
(16:45):
don't want to get it wrong. Let's see, I'm gonna
find it.
Speaker 4 (16:50):
Like because her and Ariana they've definitely been doing a
huge spress. Yeah, you know, absolutely, I'll say that much.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
And Cynthia or Evil Yep, yep, she's amazing.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
She's smaller than Ariana Grande, if you can imagine that,
because there's scenes in the movie where like, damn, Ariana
looks so big to compare to her. But she's amazing vocals. Yeah,
and although there was a lot of music, and I
will tell you you have to be in the mood
for that, because I felt like I was in the
mood to just take in the film. Yeah, in the middle,
(17:24):
it's like back to back songs, okay, but not all
of them are full songs. Some of them are like
they sing one line and then it's over and they
start back into acting or whatever.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
So there's a lot of acting singing in.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
The front, a lot of singing in the middle, and
then at the end when it starts to get action packed,
the singing slows down until the very end. And I
will tell you there's going to be a part two. Okay,
all right, but just a huge production, like the dance
scenes alone, if you like Broadway productions and whatnot. And
obviously this is film level, so the props and everything
(17:55):
are bigger and better and it's not live, so they
take their time to get it right.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
It's pretty amazing some of the stuff that they did.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
Oh, Like, I in my mind as I watched it,
I was like, damn, how many times did they have
takes on this? Probably at least twenty or more because
it was just that difficult of a scene or a
dance routine to do. Yeah, and just you know, changes
your mind about who you perceived to be evil or
really the stories that we've heard through time and how
(18:27):
they may not be true or it may not be
exactly what we were told, and there is another side
to the story, and that's exactly what Wicked is, right.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
I mean, it makes sense, man, you know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (18:36):
I mean, they did a wonderful job on Broadway, and
it's been such a huge play. It only makes sense
that they would bring it to the to the you know,
to the screen. But I'll tell you this much, they didn't.
They didn't miss it. The Blox Office hit for about
one hundred and seventeen million dollars for that opening five days,
you know, and Gladiady did pretty good too, they pulled
in about forty four million. But the big winner absolutely
(18:58):
was Mawana two hundred and twenty one million dollars just domestically, just.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
In the US.
Speaker 4 (19:03):
Wow, So imagine what that what that Boss office was
looking like internationally.
Speaker 3 (19:08):
Yeah, Disney hit on this one and they needed to win,
and they're.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
So smart, like, let's drop it on Thanksgiving weekends and
then put all this merch out, Oh for sure, because
everybody's gonna want like the new whatever characters and whatever
dolls and clothes and super smart.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
Yeah, but it's the holiday season, man.
Speaker 2 (19:28):
It's the holiday season.
Speaker 3 (19:30):
You know, now's the time for you to go ahead
and dive on in.
Speaker 4 (19:32):
There's plenty of I'm so you're sure a lot of
y'all have some off days coming up, you know you
might want to get somebody watching in.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
Yeah, what's your number one on your Christmas list?
Speaker 3 (19:40):
Number one on my Christmas that you.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
Either need I feel like when you're an adult, it's
things you need when you're a kid. It's stuff you
want like back in the day, might have been a
PS five.
Speaker 2 (19:50):
Now you want like a new toilet or oh.
Speaker 3 (19:55):
Like I need some stock for sure. I would love
to get ronment gear.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
Man. Yeah, that's that's where my mother is certainly at
I'm like, man, maybe would love to get some more
meta shout out the game. Stop waiting on this to
go crazy?
Speaker 2 (20:08):
Uh hold on to that man.
Speaker 3 (20:10):
And you know what those has actually been making some moos.
