We're recording this in the middle of a VERY heated debate (warning for some extra swearing) - Clint and Producer Claud are both laying claim to coming up with the idea for a segment in the show, but who really came up with it? We're trying to figure that out by yelling and talking over each other.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Is a furious is a furious debate which which leaked
onto the show today, which was embarrassing for us, around
who invented a segment that we haven't done for a
long time, but now that it's back. Claudia is claiming
that she created the segment that I created, Literally.

Speaker 4 (00:43):
Did I named it. I came up with the theme song,
I made the intro beute, and I came up with.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
The illusion in the show plan.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
In the show plan, where have you come from?

Speaker 1 (00:56):
Ella's picked her aside. She's team Claudia.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
You weren't even she was.

Speaker 4 (01:01):
Okay, I've been here in the truth, and then there's
the fiction that we were in the show Clint lives.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
Sometimes you gotta let him go.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Okay, let me talk. I will not scream. It was
in the show planing.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
Cordia bras Ella's so angry.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Claudia brings up a fun game her and Becker played
in the car. I was a road trip.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Claudia told you this story and now you're just retelling it.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
No, I remember, and then you, Clint Roberts go, oh,
that's a great idea.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
You take credit for so many things that I do,
but I am not letting this one. Last week when
we got the noodles and you were like, I found
these noodles, and I was like, literally, I does.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
And I let it slide because it sounded better on air.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
It was good for the story. I found the noodles
and I sent you to get them.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Oh that is kind of fair. He did send you
the link.

Speaker 5 (01:54):
But I didn't get them from the link, so both
I could see both of your sides.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
In that one.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
So let's bring it down. The reason I think the
podcast listeners, I'm just trying to bring a bit of listenability.

Speaker 5 (02:08):
I want to hear how you came up with the Well,
let's say what the game is to start?

Speaker 3 (02:20):
Think they are?

Speaker 2 (02:24):
So that's the game. Oh that's another question. Does it
go once or.

Speaker 6 (02:28):
Does it twice?

Speaker 1 (02:30):
See, you are one hundred percent wrong on that one.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Now tell us particularly triggered by me today.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
I would like to hear how you came up with it.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
I believe that I came up with it because it
feels like something I would have come.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Up with you, that is, I think, do you think
everything feels like something.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
Comes with a good game, I must have made it.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Sorry when you come up with good ideas. But this
one was mine.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
And is hearing that backstory, I feel like it could
have been her this one.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
I just feel ganged up one up.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
I was listening to everyone and I wasn't inside. I'm
just shame.

Speaker 5 (03:11):
I feel like, Okay, so Claudia has a fullback story
and a full memory, do you yeah?

Speaker 2 (03:17):
Look that that does count against me. Mine's more of
a gut feel, so can I. And I'm willing to
be wrong, by the way, I'm just not willing. I am.
I'm always willing to be wrong. I just I just
never think he is.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
It's never happened yet.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
So someone presents the evidence, I will accept that. Oh
my god, sorry the podcast I made them.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
W fairness, we did that to her today.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
There are people, there are people who listen to every
episode of that. Some people are on the sick and
listen through of this podcast. Do you know the moment
this game was invented? Could you find it in one
of the I.

Speaker 5 (04:01):
Can find Yeah, the first time we played it, I
bet we would discuss came up with it?

Speaker 1 (04:08):
Surely that would be discussed.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
And should I be proven wrong, I want to freak apology.

Speaker 5 (04:15):
I want to take ownership of something I invented on
the show. You know what I invented? I invented Friday Oki.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
Oh it's a big clay and I did.

Speaker 5 (04:26):
I invented it, and I could prove it because you
know where I know that I invented it in a
podcast intro. I pitched the exact concept and I think
I called it Friday Oki.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
Well, there you go, and I believe you.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
I'm pretty sure my memory is right. I'm pretty sure.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
Who made Birthday Banker?

Speaker 1 (04:47):
That's come from?

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Yeah, good one.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
I like that one.

Speaker 5 (04:50):
That's that That's a game I came up with, Like
I reckon one of the first ever GAT radio games
that came up.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
With Get Fucked. I found it, Okay. I tell the
entire backstory on air.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
On the twelfth of April twenty twenty three, at four
point fifty.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
One PM reintroduces it. She said, Coaudius come up with
this idea? Where did it come from? Claudia? And then
Claudia explains it.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
You owe Claudia an apology.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
Well, I haven't heard the audio yet, but i'll take
you know, I'm willing to take Cordia's word for.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
It playing it. She's going to play it now.

Speaker 5 (05:29):
Producer Claude, you were playing a game on the weekend
with your partner because of something that happened on this show.

Speaker 7 (05:37):
Right, Yeah, so we came up with a new road
trip game because we hate ice by hate it fair enough.
So I was telling her about the time that Ella
was talking about John Travolta and said that he was
the mom from Hairspray.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
So we were kind of and that's how that's her
frame of reference.

Speaker 7 (05:53):
It's pretty good about how we know John Travolta, and
of course we come up with like pulp fiction, grease,
all these other ones, and then we just kind of
started listing other celebrities to see if the reason we
knew them matched up.

Speaker 5 (06:05):
Yes, yeah, so it's kind of like this idea has
got mirrit this has got or depends.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
On how old you are comes into it a little bit.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
You know, we're kind of talking about before we were like,
who is Spider Man to you? Who is Batman to you?
Who is James Bond?

Speaker 1 (06:21):
And it depends, you know how we're in a courtroom. Okay,
we've heard of that.

Speaker 5 (06:25):
If we're in a courtroom, that's pretty damning evidence actual evidence.
No wait wait, wait wait Cordia, Claudia, what did we wait?

Speaker 1 (06:34):
I want to see Clint. Do you have anything you'd
like to say to Claudia?

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Look? Look, can I just say there's a there's an
apology coming. It does kind of sound like you had
a cool story which I might have been transformed into
a usable game for our show.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
You are your delusion.

Speaker 5 (06:57):
I'm so on Team Cordia's side down, You're actually delusion.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
They said that they played the exact game in the car.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
And I said it's got merrit.

Speaker 4 (07:08):
You liked the game and you were like, I'm going,
oh god, I named it, I made it around it.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
I Clint Robert, who is the most delusional on this show.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
It's got to be him.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
I Clint Robert delusion And wait wait wait, brod Quiet
hereby formally apologized to Claudia sychs name, what's my middle name?
Penelope for laying claim to Ip that she one hundred

(07:41):
percent brought to the table. I in no way apologized
to Ella Shepherd whatsoever, who merely joined what she thought
was the winning team. Later on in the argument, it
was about to start screaming, agin about it.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
You were joking, That's how crazy it was. She into this.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
She is a she is a bandwagon supporter.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
Your face.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
She's the sort of person who shows up to the
court trial.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
Stop giving him what he wants. If you stop it,
he will stop.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
And to be honest, and to be honest, she was
a hindrance on Claudia's case from the start, like it
made your Claudia, made your case sound way more chaoic
and frantic than it needed to be even.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
Have a case. We did sound I'm gonna start screaming now.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
It did sound a little bit like a.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
Yorkshire terrier, didn't she.

Speaker 4 (08:32):
I'm sorry you wish you had a friend like Ella.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
How were you shocked? You know Clint well enough where.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
I literally thought he was joking.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
It was that ridiculed.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
Remember the idea, speak to my friend.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Why are you telling me to have a Claudia's apology. Okay,
Jesus has to be all about you, doesn't it.

Speaker 6 (08:54):
She always does that, Claudia.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
Ye call it fallen frank apology, unreserved apology.

Speaker 3 (09:08):
Do you believe it?

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Though? I believe it.

Speaker 5 (09:11):
Only because there was an audio, only because there was
audio evidence.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
Imagine if there wasn't, you would you would have went.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
Through and it would have been one of life's great mysteries,
didn't it.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
And you don't mean to me. You mean to Ella.
You were probably mean to bre and you know you
mean to yourself. So I do not forgive you.

Speaker 4 (09:30):
You can apologize again tomorrow and when you're calm, when
you've had a moment to think about it.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
You need to pay for my go sit on the stage.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
Please, do you apologize?

Speaker 2 (09:38):
You get some therapy and I'll pay for it.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
Can you pay for my therapy? It's expensive? Can you
pay for my I would love that as Okay, I'll take.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
That, all right, Guys, hang it out?

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
