Great things are brewing at mcafe, the perfect start to
every day.

Welcome to a little bit of pond. Now.

Recently it was my daughter's cross country day. This is
a nice way to tell us a funny story but
also brag that they both came second in the year.

Because I just thinking back to primary school, it seemed
like it was I don't know, four hundred kilometers how many?

Yeah, I always felt forever we went across country, we
went through pads and stuff.

it a cross country No, that's a park job. I
should call it the annual school park job.

We were in eastpot We used to run up the

Sometimes with Pa would have to run around Pooky Cutter
Park and you plumber. But that's that's got so many
entrances that you could just cut right through and go
straight back to school. Stump of the dairy. Yeah, get

Cute. Well that was what I was very much that
just keep running, don't stop. You've said it to them before.
I've watched enough years to note you don't need to
sprint to win, you just need to not stop running.
It's a turtle in the hair. Yeah, classic turtle in
the hair story. Yeah, that's that, right, is it?

it was a second. But they're telling me third and
so sore loser. Then we were like, she can't take bad.

So then we're like, sweet, go back to school. They
spend the last half of the day school, go pick
her up. She's like, I actually came sick, and I
was like, so what happened? And so the curl course
because I said, park jog, Oh there's been a doping elimination.

Oh yeah, man, that's right. Yeah, Year in the bush, Yeah,
year eight.
Speaker 5 (02:22):
Juicy, that juicy doing cross country. So I kind of
wove around on itself, this path and the track they ran,
and at one stage it kind of came close to
the finish line and then went way away again.

Right. It turns out the girl that the teachers were
like wow, she came first, was coming dead last and
just got to that point was like, I don't see
the point of running all that way. I'm just going
to cut across. Sure, cut and she sure kind of
short bigger, pardon do you cut it? And ran through
the finish line and the teachers are like wow first
and then apparent of this girl didn't know how to
tell them. She was just like, no, I had enough.

So she's like yeah, she.

Was getting the adulation and she's like she get exposed.
She loved it.

Later on someone said, oh, but she can't come first
because she just kind of gave up and cut across.

They were all late. Yeah, so what was she disqualified? Yeah,
she fucking cheated.

She literally cut out like two thirds of the cross country.

You can't be mean to kids anymore. I'm surprised they

I might have done something like this as a kid.
I have a vague memory of doing a triathlon. You'd
swim at the pole and run, or maybe it was
just a bike race, but I remember being on my
purple bike from the warehouse and I remem becoming third
in the bike part of this thing, right, and me
being like, how did that happen? And then people talking

about it later about this bit that I definitely hadn't done.
And I feel because a bike around eat One because
was just like a small little town, and I remember
being like, I don't think I did all of that,
but I just think I didn't mention it.

tear drop at the bottom.

of being like and I think I just like never
told anyone that I didn't pass Jamie's dad, who was
at the point that turned you around or something I
didn't see Colin.

I was just got my blankets on and concentrating what.

Well, both for girls, I don't and then they get
to get They was talking about going to zones, but
then they were both like, we don't want to do that.
I was like your zhone. That's where you go to
race against. You know, when you're at My primary school
was small. If you were good at something in my
primary school, you'd be like, maybe I'm the best in
the world of this yea seven kids I compete against,
Maybe I'm the best. And then you go to like

mal which was very small, like regionals, and you just
get fucking placid.

It was so bad for yourself, as.

Seem because when you believed you could have been the
best in the world, you're a cloud night when you
found out you weren't even like in the top fifty
in Marinsville kicking the balls. Yeah, so I don't go
