Speaker 1 (00:00):
The New York Giants three and fourteen last year. Looking
to improve, they go ahead and sign Jameis Winston, Russell Wilson,
and then they bring back mister Tommy Cutlets himself, Tommy DeVito.
So they have three quarterbacks already on the staff. That's
not to say that they can't move on from a
(00:21):
guy like Tommy DeVito. Tommy Cutlets could be cut. You
could have Jamis Winston that might be traded or cut
during before the season starts. So this doesn't prohibit the
New York Giants from taking eight quarterback in this draft. Now,
there's been rumors swirling the headlines Shador Sanders private workout
(00:45):
with the New York Giants, Eh, whatever, you know, that's
the rab attention, clickbait kind of headline that you want
to see. But to be honest with you, the New
York Giants met with three quarterbacks yesterday or in a
week leading up to the draft. They met with Jalen Milroe,
they met with Tyler Schuck out of Louisville in Louisville,
(01:09):
and they met with Shador Sanders out of Colorado. Now,
the New York Giants, you take a look at their
draft picks, they have four premium picks, and what I
mean by four premium picks is four picks within the
first three rounds. This is a New York Giants team
(01:32):
that isn't in the business of adding a particular spot.
So the Giants need a quarterback. It doesn't matter if
they have Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, and Tommy Colltz. They
need a quarterback. They have decent wide receivers outside of
Malik Neighbors. They have solid guys, but they still need
(01:55):
a wide receiver, defensive tackle, offensive guard, linebacker, and I
would even throw in there maybe a defensive back. But
the New York Giants have four picks within the first
three rounds. Ultimately, what they do at number three is
(02:21):
probably the smartest move that they'll have. Is there's three
guys for the top three picks, and none of them
are Shadoor Sanders, Abdul Carter, cam Ward, Travis Hunter. And
what the New York Giants get the luxury of doing
(02:42):
is taking whatever one falls to them. Now, I could
say for certain, while not one hundred percent guaranteed, I
could say for certain that the Tennessee Titans are going
to select cam Ward. He's a proto typical quarterback. He's
got all the making of being in NFL quarterback at
(03:02):
a high level. Tennessee Titans have Will Levis on their
team and that's it. So they kind of showed their
hand on what they're doing with the number one pick.
The number two pick in the NFL draft is a
little more wavering. They could take a quarterback there, but again,
(03:25):
Shador Sanders, he's not lighting the world on fire in
terms of his physical tools and traits. Now, for whatever reason,
they always seem to move the goalpost for this kid.
Talking about arm strength and intelligence and holding on to
the ball too long. I'll be honest with you, every
(03:48):
young quarterback tends to hold on to the ball just
a little too long. And you want to talk about
his arm strength, remember that touchdown pass that he made
scrambling to his left and throwing it downfield for a
(04:10):
touchdown fifty yards in air while scrambling while on the run.
I don't want to hear about his arm strength. Does
he have a cannon? No, but his arm strength is
good enough to play quarterback in this league. But that
being said, the NFL Draft, they're gonna take guys on
(04:37):
not who they think you could be, but rather the
talent in the ceiling that you have and where they
think that they can get you. So a guy like
cam Ward or a couple of years ago when it
was the argument of Tua Tongue of the Loa and
Justin Herbert. Yeah, Tua was in a the level passer,
(05:03):
but you had a guy like Justin Herbert, big, strong,
great arm, prototypical quarterback that you have a head coach
salivating over saying, if you get me that guy, I
know I can turn him into an elite level quarterback.
(05:23):
And that's just not what shows when you look at
Sir Door Sanders. So ultimately, the Brown's probably going to
take Travis Hunter, leaving abdual Carter to be drafted by
the New York Giants at three, which is great because
they had a good pass rush last year. But in
a division, in a division where you have a veteran
(05:48):
quarterback like Dak Prescott, a mobile quarterback like Jalen Hurts
in the reigning offensive rookie of the Year in Jaden Daniels,
you're gonna need all the pass rush that you can get.
So I don't care that you have dexter Lawrence Brian
Burns and Keevon Thibodeau. If you have the option to
(06:10):
adding one of not only one of the best pass rushers,
but one of the best players in a draft that
very well could go number one if not for a
QB needy team, I'm taking them with the third overall pick.
That's a done deal. And if he goes to Cleveland
(06:32):
to go opposite of Miles Garrett, then guess what I'm
taking Travis Hunter. Now I got Malik Dabers and Travis Hunter. Yeah,
we can have a stopgap quarterback for one year. We'll
worry about quarterback down the road next year. Let's build
the team, get the team right, bring in the quarterback.
(06:57):
New York Giants had private meeting with Jalen Shardor Sanders
and Tyler Schuck. So what that tells me is they're
not opposed to taking a quarterback in this draft. But
what it does tell me is that there's probably more
conversation coming withinside that office. Maybe John Marra's hand in
the cookie jar after seeing what happened with Saquon Barkley
(07:21):
leaving the Giants, going to the Eagles and winning a
Super Bowl. Mar's probably not happy and he's looking at
this team knowing that they need a quarterback, so he's
probably putting a little bit of pressure on this GM
and head coach to evaluate and make sure that they
(07:43):
don't miss on a quarterback. And by don't miss I
mean if the Giants don't end up taking one this year,
that one of these guys that they pass on don't
become a stud for me. If I'm the New York Giants,
I already told you at the beginning of the segment.
(08:05):
They have four four picks in the top three rounds
for a team that went three and fourteen. They have
a good roster. They don't have a great roster. They
need to add talent. They are in the business of
adding talent. Yes, they still need a quarterback, but they
are in the division of mobile quarterbacks. So if they
(08:27):
get pass rushers, defensive backs, whatever the case may be,
work on that offensive line, bring in bring in a
quarterback later in the draft. For me, I need my
valuable picks. Now, you build a roster with your late
round picks, but you build your starters with your top
(08:49):
end picks. You need to add talent in the premium picks.
I'm talking round one, round two, round three. Those are
premium picks. Now on the back end of the roster
is where you can take some flyers on some guys
where you can build out your depth on your team
for cheap. But ultimately the first three rounds you want
to hit on every round, But the first three rounds
(09:11):
are premium picks. What the New York Giants need to
do is focus on not only best available at the
time that they pick, but what their needs are in
that particular moment and when they evaluate the quarterback. This
(09:31):
is a good draft class. I don't think it's getting
as much love as me personally expected. There's a lot
of quarterbacks in this draft that I really am high on.
I love Jackson Dart potentially could be there at the
end of first round. That's another thing. If Jackson Dart
(09:57):
somehow pushes ahead of Shador, say in chaudor falls, the
New York Giants could be sitting there in the second
round with the number two pick in the second round
and saying, ed Shadoor Sanders is dropping, He's coming close
to the twenties. Should we trade back in first round
and get him. That is a potential scenario in which
(10:22):
the New York Giants end up with Abdul Carter or
Travis Hunter and then Shador Sanders. It wouldn't be unheard of.
In a dream world. I'm sure the Giants would love
to have Shador Sanders at three or Travis Hunter at three,
and then Shador Sanders slide down to draft boards and
be able to go back in to the first round
(10:43):
and get Shador Sanders and bring back that duo that
we've seen in college at the jugo level and then
with Colorado and now in the NFL. They would love that.
But for me, I'm gonna plead with the Giants right now.
You are a team that needs a quarterback. But what
you need to find is the value that you get
(11:06):
for the pick that you get, whether that means quarterback.
If you fall in love with Shador Sanders and you
want to take them at three, by all means take them.
But this isn't This is a team that is in
the business of needing talent. So I would take the
best available out of Cammore, Travis Hunter, and Abdul Carter,
(11:27):
whoever falls to number three. If you're going to take
a quarterback, I'm not gonna go with Tyler Schuck out
of Louisville. The kid's gonna be twenty six by the
time the season starts. He's had one good year under
his belt. He's been in college so long that I'm
surprised that he doesn't have his master's degree or pH degree.
(11:48):
They're gonna start calling him doctor Shuck and now starting
for your New York Giants, doctor Shuck out of Louisville.
The kid's been in college seven years. He has had
one good year. Granted, he dealt with a lot of injuries.
That's why he's been in college for seven years. And yeah,
I like the attributes of Tyler Schuck, but this isn't
(12:11):
a team that can bring in a twenty six year
old quarterback and expect to be a playoff contender, an
NFC East contender in a realistic world. My premium picks.
I'm adding premium talent, and then on the back end,
you know you don't need Tommy cutlets on your team.
I know a lot of Giants fans out there are like,
(12:33):
but big Ragu Tommy Cutlletz, we need them. I would
bring in a guy mid to later rounds, maybe a
Jalen Milroe who's raw but talented, can throw the deep
ball with extreme accuracy. Very inconsistent when it comes to
(12:54):
intermediate level throwing the ball, but there is a load
of talent there with Jalen. Last year he had a
new head coach, new offensive system. It's tough to kind
of get into that groove quickly. But maybe you take
a Jalen Milroe. Maybe you take a flyer on a
guy like Quinn Eewers who has shown inconsistencies at the
(13:19):
college level. But if you want to look at a
guy that's a prototypical quarterback, he can really spin the
wall the ball. He throws the ball down the field
as well as anybody in the draft. My three favorite
deep ball throwers in this draft are probably cam Ward,
Jalen Milroe, and Quinn Youewers. He has enough touch on
(13:44):
his passes to drop him into tight windows. He can
make the difficult throws. He's tough in the pocket. He's
shown that leadership ability. He's shown the ability to stand
tall in a pocket and deliver a pass while the
defenders are bearing down him. He's an above average pocket
(14:05):
mobility type of quarterback. He can make those occasional scrambles,
those backbreaking scrambles on a third and nine where the
defensive backs are turned to him. He's effective when he
gets outside of the pocket. He can scramble for the
first downs. He can throw on the run. Like I said,
(14:26):
he's been inconsistent. A lot of things at college were
similar to Shador Sanders, where a lot of the passes
that he threw were check downs. But ultimately, this is
a guy that I believe can throw people open at
the next level. He can throw it downfield and thread
the needle as good as anybody in this draft. For me,
(14:51):
I know I'm not a general manager, but that's a
guy worth taking a look at, especially if the draft
falls where maybe you get him at the end of
the third or the fourth round. If Jalen Milroe and
Quinn Ewers are there, I'm definitely looking into one of
those guys at the end of the third, fourth round.
You get your premium picks, your top three picks in
(15:11):
the first, second, third round. You add talent there, whether
it's offensive guard, whether it's pass rush. And remember, Abdul
Carter can play inside linebacker, he can play edge, he
can play all over that field. You can move him
around like Mika Parsons, who the Giants missed out on
when they decided to trade back in a draft in
(15:32):
draft Cadarius Tony Tony. But ultimately, what this team needs
to do is they need to add talent and then
look at how the quarterback draft class falls in that draft,
because there's a lot of inconsistencies coming out of these quarterbacks.
But ultimately, I like the quarterback draft class right now
(15:56):
as we stand today on Easter Sunday, more than I
like next year's draft class. Now, there are some guys
that could show up. You know Drew Allar, you have
Arch Manning, you have Nico from Tennessee that's going to
USC or ulc uc LA. There are quarterbacks out there
(16:18):
that I do like for the twenty twenty six class.
But I am I find a lot of these guys
are tough, grady players that, if not starters for your teams,
could be valuable backups. I'm talkinging Tyler Schuck, Jaln Milroe,
Will Howard quin Ewers, Dylan Gabriel, Kyle McCord, just to
(16:42):
name some of them that I believe can solidify at
least your backup position and potentially fight for a starting position.
And if you're the New York Giants. You have Jamis Winston,
you have Russell Wilson. You don't need to force a
guy to play in year one drive. If the guy
like Jalen Milroe or Quinn youwers and you bring him
in in the late rounds, mid to late rounds and
(17:05):
the third, fourth round and ultimately he doesn't end up
being the guy. You can go into the twenty twenty
sixth class and take another swing, because the more swings
you take, the more likely you're gonna make contact and
hit a home run
