It's Lovak and gaz on the voiceof the Capitol Regions sports fan Fox Sports
ninety five to nine and nine eighty. Hello, everyone, and welcome back

(00:23):
to Lovak and Goz here on FoxSports ninety five nine. And we are
here going through all the hottest sportstopics right now, and we are not
stopping but starting off this segment.Zach, I need you take a moment.
Okay, I'm gonna recall a visuallisteners. You can also do this

(00:44):
close my eyes, yep, Okaydone. This is for the start of
last year's NFL season. Stadium lightsgo black, so o my eye,
let's smoke bellowing out of the player'stunnel. Lights start lashing, music starts
playing. Green jerseys and helmets cance be seen coming out shining reflecting the

(01:07):
flickering lights. You see the Americanflag in Aaron Rodgers hands as he's running
out of the tent. He's comingout, everyone's excited, crowds roaring yep.
And then also recall how fast thathype was ripped away when on the
first play of the game you seeAaron Rodgers go down and that was it.

(01:32):
That was it, all right, folks, pack it up wrap it
up. We're gonna call it rightthere. That's it. That was That
was it? Aaron Rodgers and sceneand scene that was what was it?
A thirty second NFL season right there? Yeah, going in thirty seconds,
So he could have made a movieafter it. Yeah, someone said they
did a long time ago something aboutwind. But with that and speaking of

(01:57):
things just blowing, the Jets, you know they were coming with you.
Oh yeah, don't worry about that. The Jets were known as borderline super
Bowl contenders going into last season. Now after everyone has had their doubts shaken,
they haven't been restored as we're cominginto this season right now. You

(02:23):
know, there's there's a lot withwhether it's putting Sala on the hot seat,
where whether it's putting Rogers on thehot seat. You know, obviously
you can't knock the guy's play. Can we put Rogers on the hot seat?
Is that a possibility? I thinkwe can, but it's not for
his play but his conduct. Andthis is something I think you wanted to

(02:43):
touch a little on as we wentinto the Jets and how they're starting the
season right So mandatory mini camp, mandatory being the key word is pretty important.
When you've done this job long enough, it's understandable. Hey, I
know how to do this job.Why do I got to come in and

(03:05):
train working the board. I've donethe board long enough where I can come
in just waking up. Boom, got the board. Now for you still
learning, you may need that mandatoryminicamp. So from that standpoint, I
understand Aaron Rodgers, still healing fromthe injury, still healing from his self.

(03:28):
We're gonna say, decided that hedidn't need to be at mandatory minicamp.
He's going to take his vacation, his stay away whatever. What really
is so dysfunctional is that Robert Salah, instead of just kicking it down the
road, says that his absence wasunexcused unexcused absence. On top of that,

(03:58):
Hassan Raddick gets traded from the Eaglesto the Jets with the understanding that
he's going to be there at minicamp and training camp and all this other
stuff. Hassan Reddick made it nosecret for the Philadelphia Eagles that he wanted
to be paid, and he wantedto be paid big, big time pass
rusher, big time paycheck. Eaglesend up stealing one of the Jets free

(04:23):
agent pass rushers, putting the Jetsinto a situation where they have to pay
Hassan, and Hassan puts down themask, pulls out the gun and says
pay me. Understandable, but thisis typical Jets behavior where they can't figure

(04:46):
out how to talk about the situation, they can't figure out how to solve
the situation. And it's just toughbecause especially with how I'm going to kind
of go out of the way youwere saying it, where Robert sala is
saying, you know, it's unexcusedand that this isn't okay, And part
of me wonders, how much isthat him? How much of that is

(05:08):
the players, because how do youfeel if you're a player on that team
and you're like, you know, dang, you know last year obviously we
had these high expectations and we couldn'tmeet that. And you know, we're
gonna we're gonna go to training campand you know, we're gonna rally together
and we're gonna figure what we're doing. And wait, where's Aaron, Where's

(05:30):
where's our leader, where's our quarterback? You know, Tom Brady barely ever
skipped training camp and mainly because healways was saying, this is our environment,
this is where we have all thecontrol, this is where we learn
how to be champions. Now,I know Rogers, you're years in,

(05:53):
you're a veteran, and all ofthat is very well noted. But at
the same time, blatantly not beingthere for your team and for your teammates,
that's got to do something to themorale. Especially after he brought it
up so much and kind of showedthat he was there to re energize the
Aaron Rodgers of old, it justseems like now we're seeing a different side

(06:15):
of that. I'm so glad youbrought that up because I thought New York
Aaron was going to be different.I, for one, not being a
Jets fan, was excited last yearbecause they did the hard docks and he
looked re energized. He was goingto Knicks games and Rangers games. I

(06:36):
was excited. He was out there, he was talking with teammates, he
looked re energized, reinvigorated, hewas in love with the game. And
then the injury happened. Now itfeels like we're getting in this game of
I'm playing hooky again. I amthe management the management is not me.

(06:57):
I am the management seeing the GreenBay Aaron Rodgers all over again, which
really upsets me because I actually wasslowly starting to like Aaron Rodgers before I
even stepped on the field for theJets last season, and now to be
pulling this stuff now. You saidin the locker room, Yeah, they
definitely got to be feeling some sortof way, especially when you didn't play

(07:23):
much last year because he got hurt. Yeah, you played us snap a
snap which you get hurt. Youget hurt, but you just to then
after being hurt and not contributing tothen not being there for the start of
the following year. Come on,if I'm Garrett Wilson and I'm Mike Williams,

(07:46):
I'm upset. I want to beon the same page as my quarterback.
I know you've done this a milliontimes, but guess what is my
first time working with you for real? This time? I want to get
that connection. And that's what upsetsme the most about this whole situation.
You talked about the locker room. You talk about how there might be some
self doubt, like, hey, this guy didn't show up for mandatory mini

(08:09):
camp. Why I did? Ihad to show up. Why didn't he?
And I'll tell you this way.You take a look at the first
five games forty nine Ers, Titans, Patriots, Broncos, and Minnesota Vikings.

(08:30):
We'll say the first five games Titans, Niners, Patriots. You know
their defensive schemes. They're gonna betough. If these teams starts off two
and three. Is their concern fora downward spiral from there? Because now

(08:54):
you have your teammates looking at you, going, well, damn, Aaron,
if you just show up for mandatorymen in camp, we would have
got those extra time. Because theNFL has always been about now not hitting
each other. You have only acertain amount of padded practices. The training

(09:16):
is less intrusive, so you haveto take advantage of the time that you
have. Nobody plays during training camp, nobody plays during the preseason. You
take this practice time, like yousaid, a controlled environment where you can
control the outcome, where you canlive and die and learn how to play

(09:39):
with your teammates. And he tookthat for granted. And I'm gonna say,
if they start off slowly, Ithink you gotta cut off the snake
out its head. And I'm gonnasay that's Salah, and I can agree
with that as well. I thinkthat Salah was given a lot of leeway
with the city situation he was in. He was kind of given the Jets

(10:01):
in a broken state and told,I want you to fix this to the
best of your ability. They gavehim pieces, they gave him guys,
and they said, now here's theopportunity. Last year, the Jets were
seen as viable contenders, which issomething that over the years is difficult to
say because they had not been good. The fact that last year you became

(10:24):
an instant Super Bowl contender and thenyou bombed as hard as you did bombed,
and I'm talking about I know youlost Aaron Rodgers, but you can't
have one guy be the determining factorin your entire franchise because that one guy,
guess what, he's not at yourmini camp. He's not there.

(10:46):
And that's on you as a coachto say, well, then here are
my other ways to win, becauseI can't bank on one player determining our
franchise. We have to determ ourfranchise. But also don't talk about it
like that. Yes, you alsohave to be aware of the spotlight the

(11:07):
position you're in and how that's goingto relate to the overall scheme of your
fans, your team, and theorganization as a whole. When you're out
there saying, yeah, no ourstar player, no he's he was supposed
to be here. He was supposedto be here. Yeah. I know,
you guys understand a word mandatory, but mandatory means mandatory, and his

(11:28):
absence is an excused So you know, it just feels like same old Jets.
And I would point out that, yeah, Sala was given a broken
home to fix, but also hekind of got saved by this Aaron Rodgers
street. Absolutely, the fact ofAaron Rodgers coming in was supposed to be

(11:50):
that that you know, turnaround momentthat you became a super Bowl caliber team.
But at the same time, thenRogers didn't play, and we still
saw your Jets happen, the Jetsthat you've had now for a little bit,
and we're still seeing the same thing. That's something I can't I also

(12:15):
think that Aaron Rodgers saved him againthey got injured. We didn't get to
see Aaron Rodgers' Sala team. Mh to see another Zach Wilson here.
Aaron z not getting any younger. No, you cannot be wasting these ears.
If they start off with a onein three, two and three record,

(12:37):
you may need to look to cutties. Because this Jets team won
one Super Bowl. They haven't evensniffed a Super Bowl appearance since. And
again, this is where you're inyour primetime, this is your heyday.

(12:58):
You need to find ways to succeed. And if Sala can't do that,
then it's time for the Jets tobegin thinking about other options. But that
has been the Jets, that iswhat is going on in their neck of
the woods. Coming up, wehave a lot to talk about and other
branches, even considering the NFL,considering the preseason, talking about joint practices,

(13:24):
what that's gonna look like. We'llget into all the details next
