Speaker 1 (00:15):
You're like an American graffiti movie, you know, on Friday night,
she's just so excited. You want to go cruise the
boulevard or something, and you're hot rod, You're just as
so you were you get so excited?

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Did you cruise the boulevard? Did you drive Main?

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Never did, although when I moved to Utah, there was
there were still people in American Fork that like to
go up and.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Down Dragon Maine, Maine, Yeah, Dragon Maine. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Well Queen bees a a f chick. You know, she
was a little Did she drive Main? Oh yeah?

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Oh well, well she probably doesn't want the world to
know that.

Speaker 4 (00:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
I probably busted around it.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Probably he probably did. That's good for Friday. The President
held a news conference today and he was giddy. Yeah,
he was in a good mood.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Did you are so right? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (00:55):
That was.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
There was some funny moments today, There really was.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
He was in a good mood today. And then you
just got to say it's a good day for America's children.
Thank you to the Supreme Court today.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Absolutely some big I mean you called it, you said yesterday.
There's gonna be some very important rulings that going to
come out today. They didn't have to barricade the place,
they have to put up fences. People didn't lose their
collective minds. Common sense, I guess, is becoming more acceptable
in terms of rulings and so, uh, yeah, we have
some and we're going to break them down. We're going
to talk to you about them today. But yeah, we've

(01:27):
got some great rulings that again, common sense seems to
be prevailing more and more.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
Yeah, it is. We've got a great show today. Here's
what we're going to be talking about, and hopefully you'll
be joining us as well. Clark Oposian, Utah Shooting Sports Council,
he'll be joining us. A real debate about outdated suppressor regulations.
They're part of the big beautiful bill. Oh hell that
got in there, but apparently it did. Hans Von's because.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Welcome to the party.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Hans is going to be joining us. He'll break down
the rulings. Alan Dershowitz, well known attorney. He's got a
brand new book out. He'll join us. He'll talk about
the Supreme Court rulings as well. So we've got a
lot to get to today, and as always, we invite
you to be a part of the program. Eight eight
eight five seven O eight zero one zero eight eight
eight five seven o eight zero one zero on your
cell phone. All you do is have to dial Pound

(02:13):
two fifteen and say hey Rod, or make sure you
use the talkback line, which is easy to do as well.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
Talk talkback line has been very popular. Love it. Great
takes come up so that we always enjoyed to hear
from you, our listening audience.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
Now we could we we I think we'll both confess
to this and we probably do this every day, Greg,
But have you ever said something stupid that you should
take back?

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Once? I can't recalls real time.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
No, you've never said something on this show or in
your years as a law ancher. You've never said something
just stupid. And you go, that was kind of.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
Just people misinterpret my my. You know you're intelligent, Yes, thanks, Ray, Yeah,
my my observations are sometimes misunderstood or missing. But no,
it was all always well, it was always true.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Well, okay, sure, okay, now, see it's been a rough way.
Let me hear what you why? Yeah, I say stupid
things all the time, and I read a no no,
no no. I it is a confessional because I say
him all the time. Jake, it's been a rough week
for CNN. Would you agree?

Speaker 1 (03:20):
Self inflicted?

Speaker 2 (03:21):
Yeah, self inflicted? Of course.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
Justice.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
They come out and they say there was little or
no damage done to the Iranian nuclear sites based on
a very preliminary low confidence report. Right, yes, now, CNN
all this last several days, been trying to defend itself. Okay,
you wished me on this. I am trying to explain, Okay.
Jake Tapper said, one of the stupid he must think

(03:47):
the American people are stupid.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
Yeah, the irony of this man, he doesn't even understand. Yeah,
he does set no self awareness. He's not a self
aware The network's not a self aware. Now, a lot
of people are being critical to see in and their
coverage of all of this, And this is Jake Tapper's
defense of this. And then I've got a thought on it.

Speaker 6 (04:05):
Asking questions is literally our job, demanding facts and answers
instead of just taking a president's word for it well.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
I think he wrote a book that suggests that you
did otherwise. Yeah, and then the reporting they did on
the bombing attack was not They were not framed in questions.
Were they were not formed in questions. They were reporting
a failure of a mission. They didn't say that this
was stamped low confidence, that it was not, you know

(04:37):
it was. They misstated that that intelligence report clearly misleading
people reporting it as what they believed was the case.
At least right now, even that's not accurate. It's low confidence.
They were it was. It shouldn't even have been. One
retired intelligence person said you couldn't even use it in
the bathroom in an emergency. I'll just say it that way.

(04:58):
But but no, they did asked questions, they made statements
that were erroneous and verifiably false.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
Yeah. So Jake says, it's our job to ask questions. Yes,
and they've been asking a lot of questions of Donald Trump.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
Did they ever ask any questions about Joe Biden's mental decline? No, No,
because the President told him I'm doing fine, and all
his surrogates told the press, Oh, he's doing fine, he's
as sharp as attack. And they didn't ask any questions.
So are there a contradiction here? Do you think right
there is?

Speaker 1 (05:26):
In fact, you could take some of the coverage today,
was it was it a year ago today of the debate. Yes,
So if you listen to the media, you and I
were just I don't even know if we have a clip,
but it was just fun to listen to the media
so excited about this debate and they're like, you know,
he's gonna just beat Trump. He's gonna be so he's
so prepared. This guy is just so unbelievably prepared. They've

(05:47):
gained Trump, They've really schooled him, they really out negotiated him,
on and on and on and on. So as they're
reporting all this, and they're reporting that this superior position
that Biden is in in this debate coming up because
it was on CNN and they took the crowd out
of it, and they made all these they made Trump
concede all these different provisions that they thought would undermine
his ability to have a successful debate. But Trump set

(06:10):
probably thought to himself, well, he can't speak, so I
think I'm gonna be okay.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
Anyway, here here, let's go back a year. This was
the debate and I think the telling moment of the debate.

Speaker 7 (06:20):
He was taking separating babies from my mother's put him
in cages, making sure that the families are separated. That's
not the right way to go. What I've done since
I've changed the law, what's happened. I've changed it in
the way that now you're in a situation where there
are forty fewer people coming across the border illegally.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
It's better than.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
When he left office.

Speaker 7 (06:42):
And I'm going to continue to move until we get
the total ban on the total initiative relative to what
we're going to do with more border patrol and more
assign officers.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
Wasn't it Trump.

Speaker 5 (06:55):
I really don't know what he said at the end
of this, and I don't think he knows what he said.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
Either that I think, in my opinion, Craig, that was
the telling point of the debate. I don't know if
he knows. I don't know what he said, and I
don't know if he knows what he said.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
It's true, and even the part I forgot, he was
bragging that he had somehow reduced the number of border crossings,
but they had not. I mean, we know now as
we see what that looks like when a president actually
does that, what that looks like.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
So well, here was the media's reaction after the debate,
because everybody knew he just blew it. We we're in
DFG right. Here was the CNN.

Speaker 8 (07:30):
Reaction, and the universal reaction was somewhere approaching panic.

Speaker 9 (07:36):
The panic that I am hearing from Democrats is not
like anything that I have heard in this campaign so far.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
Panic, panic, panic, Yes, that's what happened a year ago tonight.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
Well, they didn't ask enough questions, now did they, Jake Tapper,
to know that the trouble was looming. They didn't ask enough.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
They did not. All right, we've got a lot to
get to today. Great to be with you here on
the Rod and Greg Show in Utah's Talk Radio one
oh five nine. kN Rs Clark Opposition will be joining
us neck we'll talk about suppressor regulation in the One
Big Beautiful Bill. All right, Well, a voter is set
tomorrow in the Senate on the One Big Beautiful Bill.
We'll see how that goes. But included in that bill

(08:15):
is dealing with suppressor regulations, outdated suppressor regulations. And joining
us on our Nuwsmager line to talk all about that
is a guy who would know, a guy who we
love to have on this show and has his own
Do you know he has his own show on this.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
Yes, sir, Gun Radio on Stay Sturday Afternoon. Pretty Big
dam podcast on our iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
Pretty big Deal. Clark Oposion. How are you welcome to
the Rod and Greg Show?

Speaker 5 (08:38):
I am well so glad to have you back road.
You know Greg was while you were gone. Greg was
calling it the Greg and Rod Show. You said it,
He said it had a better ring to it or whatever.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
CNN. Wow, Clark opposion Clark NN.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Yeah, Now, Clark, tell us about this, this oppress the
suppressor regulations. They're in the Big Beautiful Bill. What are
they all about? What are they trying to do? Clark?

Speaker 5 (09:01):
So, what this is doing? It's in the BBB because
it has to do with money. It has to do
with a tax, and a tax that originated in nineteen
thirty four under what they call the NFA, the National
Firearms Act, and it required rather than just going to
the store and purchasing a short reild rifle, a short
world shotgun, a suppressor machine gun. You could do that,

(09:25):
but then you had to register it. You had to
get your fingerprints in your photographs and pay in nineteen
thirty four two hundred dollars to transfer, and it was
a tax. And this is literally found in the IRS Code,
in the Internal Revenue Code, the regulations for this. So
it's you don't be confused, it's not guns. It's about money.

(09:45):
And that's why they're able to put it in the
BBB for reconciliation because it has to do with money. Well, anyways,
the parliamentarian is now freaking out about it and they
don't like it, even though even though this is nothing new,
this is absolutely nothing new along these lines. Just has
to do with firearms anyway. So it's a suppressor, it's

(10:08):
a muffler. Some people you know, literally Henry Maxim back
in nineteen hundred or no iron Maxim he invented this thing.
He was also the inventor of one of the first
machine guns or commercially available machine guns, and he called
it a silencer, and we called a suppressor because it
really it drops it about twenty to thirty decimals. To

(10:31):
give you an idea what that's like. When you go
to a shooting range and you put your ear plugs in,
you can still hear. You absolutely can hear the gunfire,
but it drops it about that much, about as much
as putting ear plugs in or hearing protection. It in
no way makes it silent, and no way makes it
movie silent and anyway, but it just protects your hearing.

(10:52):
And I literally am talking to you right now with
hearing age in because of primarily one event in a
distant land that messed up my hearing. So because there
were no suppressors being used.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
So Clark helped me out because I you know, I
don't see a lot of suppressors on firearms, but I'm
not you, and I'm not around them as much. I
The only time I've ever seen suppressors are in the movies,
and it's always some like you know, Assassin with black
gloves on and he's got it, and I've never seen this.
Here's a guy, he's got black glens, he's got a handguy,
he's got a suppressor because he's hard of hearing, because

(11:24):
he's got hearing aids on his eye. So, you know,
my ignorance on this tell tell us how how prevalent
are these suppressors and how do they help people?

Speaker 5 (11:33):
Well? They you know, up until I don't know. You know,
five years ago, ten years ago, there was about two million,
and then it started increasing. Hey, Utah has the biggest
market share of suppressor manufacturers in the nation by the way,
Silence or Co and Huck's Works and dead Air and
Amtak and all that. So big big market share here.

(11:56):
And so we're at about three and a half million
suppressors out there right now. And so with three and
a half million suppressors, I mean yeah, and you don't
see them. I mean they use them in the movies,
not for hunting, not for sporting or target shooting, but
you know, for the assassins and that even and they
and then they drop the sound level down so it
sounds like a mouse farting or something. Anyway, Sorry, don't

(12:18):
bleeve them anyway. So hey, there's no apologies on my end.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
That's what I used. Yeah, I know.

Speaker 5 (12:27):
So so and and you know, with these three and
a half million suppressors out there, how many how many
prosecutions are there for suppress suppressor you know, about forty
a year, uh the ATF And and we don't know
how many convictions. I don't know how many convictions there are,

(12:49):
but it certainly isn't a pattern of problems whatsoever. You
do not hear about drive by shootings with suppressors. You
don't hear about these kind of things, even though technically
there's nothing more than a muffler. You cut one of
these things in half and it's just a bunch of baffles.
There's no super secret science. Yes, there's a lot of

(13:09):
engineering that goes into where to put these baffles. But
you can you can literally make these things if you
have a you know, a harbor freight you know workshop.

Speaker 9 (13:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
Yeah, Hey Clark, we've got to go, but I want
to let you what have you coming up on the
show tomorrow afternoon.

Speaker 5 (13:26):
Hey, we're gonna be live. We're gonna be live from
the Davis Range, Davis Shooting Range grand opening in Kaysville.
So it's gonna be a lot of fun. They're gonna
have a ribbing cutting. We're gonna be there broadcasting live.
And and we've got the interview with Brad Thor on
his latest book, Edge of Bonnor fantastic book. It comes
out July first, and so we're doing that interview tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
All right, Clark, always great, Chatty, what's your park evosion?
Gun Radio Utah hosts also Utah Shooting Sports Council. It's
right to I don't think that's very far from my home.
I'm af run up there. Yeah, go check it out
of the guys. Yeah all right too, Yeah, Brad Thor
good author. Yes, all right, more coming up. It is
the Rod and Greig Show on this thank rodin Greg.
It is Friday and Talk Radio one oh five nine

(14:10):
k n rs.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
It's great timing to the book and what's going on
in the world. Really do come together and so it's
it's and I think it's the first time you've seen
a legal argument for the work that a president does
in terms of narrow strikes, like we saw that with Iran.

Speaker 5 (14:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
Yeah, well, let's dig in. This was a big day
for the court, a victory for President Trump on a
couple of issues there didn't win on a few others,
but those I don't think are that as important as
we have here in joining us. We love having this
guy in their happy trails.

Speaker 7 (14:40):
Hans.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
Welcome to the party.

Speaker 5 (14:42):
Hans.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
We're talking about Hans von Pascott Spakowsky. It's a hard
name to say, senior legal fellow, Hans. Great have you
on the show. Your reaction to the rulings today and
what do you make of them?

Speaker 10 (14:54):
I predicted it exactly.

Speaker 4 (14:56):
This has been a very I would consider successful Supreme
Court term. In fact, the last four years have been
great Supreme Court terms for folks who care about the
constitution of the rule of law. Today was no exception
to that. They released a number of decisions. Two of
them were really important because they're decisions that protect children,

(15:22):
protect parental rights over the education of children. And then
a third one dealing with the frankly judicial warfare that's
been going on all over the country, which has is
a threat to the way our system works.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
Hans, I have not read as thoroughly the decision, particularly
around the jurisdiction that these judges have, and that it
isn't the effect of touching on three hundred and fifty
plus million Americans when they make it a ruling. They
have a jurisdiction. But I've heard some comment, at least
tracked on social media, some people think that the opinion
written by Justice only Amy Cony Barrett really goes after

(16:03):
Justice Jackson did. It's a it's a pretty forceful opinion
where just the force of her opinion is being commented
on by itself. What is it that she said that
was so that seems to be so apparent and almost
embarrassing to the dissenters.

Speaker 4 (16:20):
Well, you know what's interesting is that it was a
six three decision. Justice Soto Mayor Or wrote a dissent,
and even though I disagree with it, Sonomher's descent was
based on her analysis of the law, historical precedent, the
kind of things that you're supposed to. Justice Jackson wrote

(16:45):
a separate descent, which her two liberal colleagues did not join,
and that tells you something about it. And if you
go through her descent, it is just an emotional diatribe.
It's I mean, at one point she talks about how
that there's no point in going through boring legal elites. Well,

(17:09):
that's her job, and instead she basically is saying that,
you know, she warns about an imperial presidency, but she's
adopting the idea of an imperial judiciary where one federal judge,
and remember there are almost seven hundred federal district court

(17:30):
judges across the country, where one federal judge can tell
the president what to do and can stop a policy
being implemented into Washington. That is, I don't care whether
you're a liberal or conservative, a Democrat, an impet or Republican.
That is not the way our system works, and that
is a great danger separation post. But what they went

(17:53):
after her for was the fact that it was just
an emotional argument one not based on the actual law, history, precedents,
or anything like that.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
As you mentioned just a moment ago in your analysis
that these rulings, it is a great day for children
in America. You have the ruling concern you know, the
access to pornography. You have the ruling concerning what children
can have to listen to in schools. I mean, to me,
both those rulings simply made common sense. I mean, and
the judges is obviously realized that.

Speaker 4 (18:26):
Oh no, look, I agree. The case out of Texas was, Look,
it was very simple. Texas passed the law that said
that if you run a pornographic website. You know, we're
not telling you you can't do that, but if you
run a site like that, you have to verify that
somebody is an adult before you allow them into the site.

(18:48):
And you know, what shocks me about that case is
that it was a six to three decisions. I mean,
the three liberal justices thought that was too much trouble
to require pornographic sites to verify citizenship. And then the
second decision again, I'm just amazed. The second decision was

(19:11):
a school board out of Maryland. It is a very
liberal school board, and they until twenty twenty three, they
allow parents to opt out, opt out of classes that
use very sexually explicit materials about transgenderism, gender ideology, homosexuality.

(19:37):
And look, we're not talking about high school kids here.
They started with this stuff in the pre kindergarten classes,
if you can believe that, woo. And then in twenty
twenty three they suddenly said we're not We're not going
to allow parents to opt out of this anymore, which
again makes absolutely no sense unless you are so intense

(20:01):
on normalizing these concepts brainwashing kids that you don't want
parents to be able to stop their kids from getting
this kind of propaganda. Again a six' three. Decision, AGAIN
i just astonished that the three liberal justices thought there
was not a problem with. This and, listen during the

(20:24):
oral arguments they talked about some of the stuff that
was in these elementary school. Books you guys wouldn't believe It.

Speaker 1 (20:32):
Wow you, know so let me ask you. This so
we also wanted to speak with you about the article
you wrote ABOUT usaid the fraud case that came. Out,
now this is an eye, Opener, Fred we've all wanted
we've seen that this is almost like a shadow. Government
this is this is outside money that's outside the purview Of.
Congress it's budgets are, unknown it's it's the receipts are

(20:54):
unknown or have been. Unknown but it turns out and
you're reporting that this gentleman who works FOR, usaid The Roderick,
WATSON i want this. Gig well MAYBE i don't because
Maybe i'll get thrown in the. Clink but this guy
was receiving a million dollars in, cash, laptops tickets to
suites AT nba, games a country, club wedding down payment
not for not one but two different, houses get cell,

(21:16):
phones vacations On mars's, vineyard and he gets to hook
up all his family with. Jobs is THAT i? Mean
so that's WHAT usaid is allowing to happen to the,
TUNE i think you reported of over a decade of
like a half a billion, Dollars is that?

Speaker 5 (21:29):
Right?

Speaker 4 (21:30):
Yes, yeah, yeah he was bribed a million dollars in
cash and all those other things in order to steer.
Contracts these were contracts that were not subject to competitive,
bidding but could be steered to businesses that met the
so called socially and economically disadvantaged. Category and so, yeah

(21:56):
he steered five hundred and fifty million dollars and contracts, to,
uh these three other businessmen who took advantage of the
fact that they Are African american and, said, oh we're just, advantage,
yeah DISADVANTAGE i half a billion dollars in. Contracts and,

(22:17):
look these aren't just. Accusations all four of them have
agreed to plead guilty to accepting bribes and paying bribes
and tell what tells you. Something it went on for
a decade before it was finally. Discovered in, fact this
is so bad THAT i don't know if you saw the,

(22:37):
news but just within the day or last day or, two.

Speaker 5 (22:41):
They're they're they're.

Speaker 4 (22:42):
Now going to, audit audit all all the contracts that
were sent like. This it issued like this non competitive
bidding to try to see if there were other problems
like this.

Speaker 2 (22:53):
On our newsmaker. Line Hans Van's, platkowski he's with The
Heritage foundation reacting to The Supreme court. Today we, love,
yep happy, trails, trails but they'll be.

Speaker 1 (23:05):
More they'll be. More they'll find. More if they look for,
more they'll find. More.

Speaker 2 (23:08):
Fraud you, know we always have Stories greg of a
nutty tourist up A yellowstone taking pictures of, wildlife they
get too, close they get.

Speaker 11 (23:16):
To ord or.

Speaker 2 (23:17):
Whatever we have Those darwinian something like. That But i've
never heard a story like. This but apparently this happened
over the weekend where a bison fell into one of
the parts hot springs. Died that's. Sad that's actually really
isn't that's. Sad, YEAH i saw that story this. MORNING
i mean it happened like Early saturday morning and apparently

(23:39):
a bull got too close stepped in films and.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
Story yeah that's too. Bad, YEAH i don't know how
they get the memo all those but they never WHEN
i went up, there they never seem to get too
close to those. Things So i'm shocked at one slipped
in film and our barbarian of a producer just like
it's like The Hannibal lecter of. Animals he's just ready

(24:03):
to eat them.

Speaker 2 (24:04):
All he just chimed. In have you ever had a buffalo?
STEAK i, have, actually, yeah you can get it up At. Maddix,
yeah buffalo is higher. Protein it's very more. Leaner it's
not as fatty. EITHER i like Their New york style
buffalo steak up there At. Maddis it's.

Speaker 1 (24:18):
Good it's good. Food, yeah they's good. Too but we
start to talk about that on a topic about this
poor buffalo falling in the hot, spring it's very it's
actually kind of.

Speaker 2 (24:28):
Heartless that is, Sorry. Alwitz it's going to join The
rod And Greg show coming up next stay with.

Speaker 12 (24:35):
Us.

Speaker 1 (24:38):
Alan. Dershowitz he's been on the scene for a long long.
Time HE'S i think he's been. FAIR i think HE
i think he's been A, democrat BUT i think he's
called balls and. STRIKES i know he's a contributor On Fox.
News he likes to point out where the law applies
to both parties and people In america, generally AND i
think he's done the fair job of that for the most.
Part so excited to have him on the.

Speaker 2 (24:59):
Program he's joining us right. Now of, course a lot
of reaction today to the rulings coming out of The
Supreme Court allen also has a brand new book out
Called The Preventive. State we'll talk about that as. Well But,
ellen thanks for joining us on Our Any Hour newsmaker.
Line your reaction to the rulings, today especially the ones
on judicial power and birthright.

Speaker 10 (25:18):
CITIZENSHIP i predicted it exactly AND i think it's. CORRECT
i think that nationwide injunctions are wrong and, unconstitutional AND
i don't think The court should have reached the issue
of birthright. Citizenship yet it, will and it will probably
strike down as unconstitutional President trump's executive. Order birthright citizenship

(25:41):
is in The constitution and the president really can't do about.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
It what mister, DISHOUTZ i. AGREE i think that the
big issue is it just looks like there's a lot
of judge shopping and judges with a limited jurisdiction we're
having national impact on the president's, agenda WHICH i. WAS
i agree about this BECAUSE i think the timing of your,
Book The Preventive state And how to avoid crisis in

(26:06):
while preserving our. Liberties what a timely moment In american
history and world history for your book to come. Out
so we have a lot of narratives out there That
President trump did not have the right to that narrow
strike And iran that bombing to take out the nuclear.
Facilities maybe you could share with our, listeners why is that?
Constitutional or maybe it's. Not you tell us you're the.

Speaker 10 (26:29):
Scholar, well in my Book The Prevented, STATE i make
the argument that it is. Constitutional The framers initially Gave
congress the power to make, war and Then James, madison
the father of The, constitution took that away and said, no, no,
no that would restrain the president too. Much president has
the power to make. Law congress only has the power

(26:50):
to declare. Law And President trump didn't declare. War he declared.
Peace after he attacked the, reactor he, said now we want,
peace we want a, compromise we want to. Read so
there's no doubt in my mind was.

Speaker 2 (27:03):
Constitutional this talk of him violating The War Powers act
with this, attack it seems to have fizzled fairly. Quickly Mister,
Dershowitz does that surprise you at, all because many people are, saying,
well maybe he didn't violate the.

Speaker 10 (27:16):
Law, well it was made by idiotic ignoramuses LIKE aoc
who don't know what they're talking. About you, know she
was trained as a, bartender and probably at the bar she.
Tended they said it was, unconstitutional but you, know she's
never at the. Constitution she has no idea what she's talking.
About she's the new leader of The Democratic, party and

(27:37):
that is a terrible tragedy for somebody like me who
was a Loyal democrat from nineteen sixty WHEN i voted
For John kennedy until the last convention WHEN i left
The Democratic.

Speaker 1 (27:48):
Party Mister, dershus let me ask you looking. FORWARD i,
mean things seem to be so. Partisan i've always thought
you to be one that calls balls and, strikes and
you can you can advocate or you can argue both.
Sides it doesn't really matter because you're the way you've
studied this and what you. Know so my question is,
this given the times that we're in and the partisan

(28:09):
maybe situational logic or outrage that has, applied where do
you see issues like a president who who wants to
preemptively strike a nation because it is becoming a more dangerous.
World does is the president going to lose power in
the coming years and decades or do you think that

(28:29):
we're going to see this world for what it is
and we're going to give keep this president's constitutional powers in.

Speaker 10 (28:34):
Place no doubt the president's going to gain, power but
they are going to be. Restrictions they're going to be
requirements to do. Process and that's WHAT i try to
do in my. BOOK i try very hard to balance
the need for preventive. Action that's WHY i call my
book The Preventive state against the need to make sure
that individual rights aren't. Violated we don't have the jurisprudence for,

(28:54):
that and this is the first book ever to suggest
the jurisprudence and to lay out what a framework looks
like for how to elect the president do what he
has to do without allowing him to abuse.

Speaker 2 (29:06):
The rights of.

Speaker 10 (29:07):
Individuals that's the BALANCE i tried very hard to strike
in my.

Speaker 2 (29:10):
Book we Have Utah Center Mike lee a frequent guest
on the, show and he expresses concern oftentimes that the
legislative branch of government has basically lost. Power they don't
seem to get anything done. Anymore the president has become more.
Powerful would you agree or disagree with?

Speaker 9 (29:26):
THAT i.

Speaker 10 (29:27):
Do first of, All mike's father was a good friend of, Mine,
rexley who was the dean of the law. School we
will clerks together on The Supreme court, back believe it or,
not in NINETEEN i don't know sixty. ONE i think
it was in.

Speaker 4 (29:40):
Nineteen sixty, two before many of you were.

Speaker 10 (29:42):
Born rex was an incredible constitutional, lawyer And mike is
an incredible. Senator so Although i'm not A, Republican i'm
a big supporter Of Mike. Lee and he got it.
Right he's also an. Intellectual he's a serious scholar and an,
intellectual and the people are, very very very lucky to
have him as a, senator AND i support him.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
Completely final question for, you, Sir we appreciate a few
minutes of your. Time if people buy and hopefully they
will and read your, book what do you hope they
take away from?

Speaker 10 (30:11):
It the need for, balance the need not to speak
in absolute, terms need to understand that we have to
do preventive. Actions if we could have prevented nine to,
eleven If israel could have Prevented october, seventh that would
have been. Wonderful and because they didn't prevent, those they overreacted,
perhaps and so we need a jurisprudence for the preventive.

(30:31):
State AND i really really appreciate your having me on the.
Show AND i wish everybody well and let's move forward
and try to prevent horrible things from happening without, preventing
without allowing diminution of civil. Liberties that's the thesis of my.
Book so thanks for having me. ON i appreciate.

Speaker 2 (30:48):
It Alan dershcherwoitz attorney and an. Author he's got a
brand new book out Called The Preventive. State and it's
great to hear from. Him you, know you see him all.
Over he is a he always has great insight into
all kinds of legal. Issues so it's fun to fun
to have him on the. Show it.

Speaker 1 (31:03):
Is and what a small. World he was a clerk
in The Supreme court When Rex lee was A Supreme
court clerk as, well and he praised his legal acumen
and praised The Senator. Lee that's a good small.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
World did you ever hear On Mike lee tell stories
about sitting around the dinner table with his. FAMILY i
actually have and they talk. CONSTITUTION i, know not what
you do? Today oh do you know section? Ten that's.

Speaker 1 (31:27):
Funny, well, look, Man mike's, brother his Brother Tom, Lee.

Speaker 2 (31:33):
Supreme court.

Speaker 1 (31:34):
Justice yes he, was he's not. Now he, was but
he's No slough. Himself he seems to, know he, knows
he knows what's.

Speaker 2 (31:40):
Up do you Think mike will ever land on The Supreme?

Speaker 1 (31:42):
COURT i would love. IT i think it would be
a GREAT i think it's a perfect. FIT i would
hate to lose him in The, senate BUT i think
he'd be a perfect. FIT i really. DO i think
he'd be something. Else AND i think in the times we're,
IN i think he'd get That senate. Confirmation Those democrats
would vote for him just so he'd leave The. Senate
he's too. Tough on's rid of that? Guy all, right,
boy coming up on The rod And Greg. Show on

(32:03):
this Thank rod And. Greg It's. Friday you normally do

Speaker 2 (33:15):
Judge, yeah that's my, job but would you like To
we were talking about, this but you shared a, story
AND i, said we have got to talk about this
because there are probably other listeners out there who have
done similar. THINGS i don't know IF.

Speaker 1 (33:31):

Well this.

Speaker 17 (45:15):
Happened i'm in my seventies. NOW i grew up in
Southern california and this memory has stuck with me for sixty.
YEARS i was about ten years. Old took her treating
with my friends in the. Neighborhood and there's a little
grandma lady in the. Neighborhood she came to the. Door
she always made cookies for. Everybody came to the door
of the big plate of, hot fresh. Cookies there's about

(45:38):
five of, us and her cat jumped up on the
tray and knocked the cookies all over the. Ground and
we were, like she was crying.

Speaker 10 (45:47):
My, cookies my, cookies and it.

Speaker 9 (45:50):
Made me feel so.

Speaker 17 (45:51):
Bad, Oh grandma knocked all her cookies on the. Ground
this dang big old cat jumped up on the tray.

Speaker 14 (46:01):
THAT i never forgot.

Speaker 17 (46:02):
That, wow, CRAZY i still tearing about.

Speaker 10 (46:05):
It.

Speaker 1 (46:05):
Wow you don't even see it.

Speaker 2 (46:11):
Coming.

Speaker 1 (46:12):
Yeah, yeah how about let's go To sharon and North. Ogden,
sharon welcome to the. Program thank.

Speaker 18 (46:19):

Speaker 3 (46:20):

Speaker 18 (46:20):
Okay we?

Speaker 1 (46:21):
Can.

Speaker 18 (46:24):
OKAY i was watching the Movie, warhorse AND i the
horse had been through so much and he began to
run in the barb wire was running around. Him, yeah
AND i just yelled out in the theater, no, no stop.
Stop everybody in the theater looked at.

Speaker 1 (46:39):
Me, no that's a sad. MOMENT i have to see that.
Movie that's a. Movie see that's a good, movie isn't, It, Sharon,
warhorse that's a good.

Speaker 14 (46:49):
Movie it's a wonderful.

Speaker 2 (46:51):
Movie, yeah, yeah wonderful. Movie, well thank you for, Sharing.
Sharon matter of, FACT i think that was a movie
that was very successful or a play that was very
successful On broadway that they turned into a. Movie, GREG
i Think i've got that. Right, Yeah and it is
a good, movie very emotional.

Speaker 1 (47:06):
Movie so one of our great, smart, smart, smart smart
smart smart listeners sent a scripture From, genesis chapter, one
verse twenty. One And god created great whales and every
living creature that moveth which the water's brought forth abundantly
after their, kind and every wing fowl after their, kind

(47:26):
after and foul after his. Kind And god saw that
it was. Good so, yeah there was Not Queen. Bee
this is a, listener AND i think that is a
very Appropriate. Genesis so you're.

Speaker 2 (47:38):
Defending yourself now with.

Speaker 1 (47:39):
Scriptures it's kind of, biblical is What i'm.

Speaker 2 (47:41):
Trying you're defending yourself with.

Speaker 1 (47:42):
Scripture, Yes i'm kind of that. Guy you know that
you see that? Coming did?

Speaker 5 (47:46):
You?

Speaker 2 (47:46):
NO i did not?

Speaker 1 (47:47):
Know, wow thanks to our, LISTENER i didn't. Either, yeah
help you out now Now i'm. Backed i'm backed by
you know the good. Word how do you like?

Speaker 10 (47:56):
Me?

Speaker 3 (47:56):
Now?

Speaker 2 (47:56):
Ah? Okay all? Right WELL i love that you've got the.
Baits you ever that one you rubb that in my? Face? Whatever,
yeah you show my, kids, well mock, me you, know
if people get. HIM i think a good emotional thing
occasionally is good for men and. Women it's good, yeah,
no it's not. True of course it.

Speaker 1 (48:17):
IS i, mean look.

Speaker 2 (48:18):
GOOD i need.

Speaker 1 (48:19):
IT i think for me AS i get older. Too
i'm a, dad and you know my kids are adults.
That but you do you start to things start to
hit you a little differently. Too you, know it's, like, okay,
one you brought up.

Speaker 2 (48:30):
Kids, okay what one of my little. Granddaughters, yes was
in a? Parade, yes choked?

Speaker 1 (48:34):
Up.

Speaker 2 (48:36):
Falls it wasn't, falls BUT i just choked. Up and
you know. WHAT i looked next to my son and
he was he was joking up.

Speaker 1 (48:43):
Too, yeah that's.

Speaker 2 (48:44):
Sweet she was was sitting on a little, trailer was
doing but a on a trailer and a.

Speaker 1 (48:50):
Parade that might be a little low. BAR i don't love.
THAT i think My shae's at least better than. That,
yeah it's a. Grandchild, yeah it's. TRUE i don't have any,
grandchilds SO i don't. KNOW i can't speak from that.

Speaker 2 (49:00):
Part they do get to all, Right we've got a
lot to. Come it's been kind of a dany show.
Today you had me flying by the seat of from the.

Speaker 1 (49:09):
Crosshairs SINCE i told you this, YESTERDAY i knew this was.

Speaker 2 (49:12):
OKAY i wanted to bring this. UP i wait until
The Queen bee said it's.

Speaker 1 (49:16):
Okay good company though great listeners contributed.

Speaker 2 (49:21):
Mightily another, exciting stimulating hour of The Rotting Greg show
coming up to stay with. Us we have been talking
a lot today about The Supreme court. Rulings but yesterday
the nation's highest court made a significant ruling on, abortions planned,
parenthood and, medicaid and Most americans do not want their

(49:44):
taxpayer dollars going to help pay for. Abortions in The
Supreme court basically said yesterday it doesn't have.

Speaker 1 (49:49):
To it's a massive, ruling and it was going to
be massive either way it, went because it was going
to have really negative ramifications if they voted to allow
For medicaid funding planned parent and abortion. Clinics but it's
the other ruling that we've, got the one that they
can't that you can't you can restrict those funds from
the clinics like, That AND i think that is if

(50:09):
you hate, abortions this was the ruling you were looking.

Speaker 5 (50:11):
For.

Speaker 2 (50:12):
Yeah, well joining us on our any Hour newsmaker line
to talk more about that Is merrily Boyakt merrily as
part of the pro LIFE utah. Effort here in the
state Of. Utah. Merrily thanks for joining us tonight your
reaction to The court's ruling yesterday when it comes to
medicaid and.

Speaker 8 (50:25):
Abortions, actually we are are so happy it continues to
show the direction that The court is. Taking this was
a very technical, ruling you, KNOW i will credit that
that it was a very technical. Ruling, however the overall
end result will be reduced funding for planned, parenthood and

(50:48):
that just makes us no end up.

Speaker 1 (50:49):
Happy so we've talked about this broadly on the, show
but specifically to the state Of. UTAH i don't know
IF i, mean because this whole idea that they're doing
cancer screenings and other things that might qualify For medicaid,
funding it just. Doesn't it seems like the tail that
wags a. Dog it doesn't seem to be the point
of planned. Parenthood was it the case that they could
legally get medicaid funds here in the state Of utah

(51:10):
at planned parenthood for things other than, Abortion and does
this change it on its own or does it require some?

Speaker 8 (51:15):
Legislation, so, yes they could and have received reimbursement for other.
Things and what that does is it allows them to
shift their, dollars you, know cover those costs with the
medicaid things and then provide more. Abortions so, really then
that effect is that taxpayers are subsidizing abortion. Clinics AND

(51:36):
i think that really flies in the face of what
the majority Of utah you, know voters feel and, believe you,
know in their opinion now right now In, utah that
is the case that they can do. That, However Representative
kerry And, lismbee who is a champion for, life has

(51:57):
already opened up a bill file to correct that.

Speaker 14 (51:59):
Situation, wait, however.

Speaker 2 (52:01):
Yeah, however, okay go.

Speaker 14 (52:03):
Ahead, however.

Speaker 8 (52:06):
This was done In South carolina by their, Governor Governor governor.

Speaker 14 (52:11):
McMullen uh bless.

Speaker 8 (52:13):
That, man AND i would call on our, Governor Governor,
cox who has stated many times that he is pro,
life to do the same. Thing he can do this
with a stroke of a pen and change the way
things are done In utah and the net result will
be more lives saved in our.

Speaker 2 (52:30):
State, so, merrily are you saying it may not even
take legislative, action that that that this could be done
with uh an order from the? Governor could he change
it without legislative? Approval, merrily it is.

Speaker 14 (52:42):
My understanding that's how it's.

Speaker 8 (52:44):
Done you know how how it was done In South
carolina that it was done with order of the governor
and it.

Speaker 14 (52:51):
Was just approved by The Supreme.

Speaker 8 (52:52):
Court SO I i, say, why, uh you, know take
all the time that it would take to run through
the legislative Pross this could be done quickly and, immediately
AND i think that would just be fabulous for our.

Speaker 1 (53:05):
State so sometimes you read these articles or you see these,
things you're not quite. Certain utons might not be. Certain
what's the political temperature In utah? Specifically we know we're
a republican. State but is this issue if it's not
if the governor were not to do, this which we
makes every sense why he, Would but if he didn't
and it required a bill in the, legislature is this
a hard legislative fight or is this an intuitive one

(53:27):
now that The supreme courts? Ruled what would you how
would you describe the political hurdles or are there any
to getting this?

Speaker 8 (53:34):
Done you, know, honestly we have been so incredibly successful
in our state with our. Legislature they have been so
supportive of pro life measures and have passed. Them to,
me this one would be a slam. Dunk it's already
been approved by The Supreme, court you. Know and one
of the hesitations that our legislature has, had and rightly,
so is That Planned parenthood sues over and over and

(53:58):
over again to stop the will of the people as
expressed by their elected, officials and they do that.

Speaker 14 (54:04):
Routinely and so but this.

Speaker 8 (54:07):
One having already passed to The Supreme, COURT i think
this one would sail.

Speaker 14 (54:11):
THROUGH i just would love to see it be done even.

Speaker 2 (54:14):
Faster what DID i, have e merily a? Thought what
does this do for the future Of Planned parenthood in this?
STATE i, mean could we see a point where it
may not even exist in this state? Anymore?

Speaker 14 (54:25):
Oh would we not? Pray and we do that that
would someday happen in our.

Speaker 8 (54:30):
State they've already had to close down to their, facilities
and you, know right now they're looking at the looming,
big beautiful bill that would cut federal funding even. Further
so you, know we would we would love for them
to just leave our state. Entirely they have slaughtered way
too Many utah citizens to be make anybody comfortable with

(54:54):
them staying.

Speaker 2 (54:54):
Here on our news maker, line and that was Merri
Lee boyak From Pro Life. Utah i'm talking about A
Supreme court ruling on abortions and medicaid funding and planned.
Parented all, right more coming, up we'll talk about leaving
pride behind as The rod And Greg show continues here
On Utah's Talk radio one oh five nine can. Arrests
But i'm so.

Speaker 1 (55:12):
CONFUSED i thought walking away from. PRIDE i thought this
is like a self help book for you to walk
away from your pride and your. Hubris that's not what this. Is, no,
no oh, oh all, right well now my. QUESTIONS i
got a whole different list of.

Speaker 2 (55:24):
Questions you kind of had a focus. Today is that
it because It's, friday we.

Speaker 1 (55:28):
Walk away from your? Pride, rod leaving your pride Behind,
row it's.

Speaker 2 (55:33):
A different time kind of. Pride. Okay, well AS i,
Mentioned Pride month is almost gone afore yet another. Year
but if you Notice greg over, time yet less corporations
getting involved in it this. Year the advertising was there this,
year public perceptions about all of this starting to change it.

Speaker 1 (55:50):
Is and wars and calamities didn't cooperate, either so there's
been a lot of attention.

Speaker 2 (55:55):
Everywhere but, well joining us on our Any. Hour newsmaker
line Is jennifer Robe. More orshi is the founder Of Ruth.
Institute Doctor, morris thanks for joining us on the show this.
Afternoon we talked about how This Pride month there's a
different feel this year to. It what's your reaction to.
That why do you think that's?

Speaker 11 (56:12):
Happening, WELL i think that a lot of people who
in a good hearted way approved of same sex marriage
did not see how it was going to open the
door to the craziness of. Transgenderism and a lot of
people are freaked out over, transgenderism As i'm sure you,
know and so one of the things that's happening is
that people are kind of rethinking some of their fundamental.

(56:32):
Premises and one of the things we've seen at The
Ruth institute is that there are really many many men
and women who have been at one point part of
THE lgbt movement and had embraced an identity of lesbian
or gay or transgender and have left that. Behind and
one of my colleagues found the statistics on, it and

(56:55):
the stats blew me, away AND i, Said, gee the
factty millions of these, People let's go talk to. Them
and so we at The Ruth institute have produced a
whole series of interviews with that are me talking to?
People what would tell me about? It what makes? You
why did you become? Gay what do you think went into?
It do you think you were born that? Way and

(57:15):
how what was your journey like when you left pride?
Behind and their stories are amazing and inspiring all over the.

Speaker 2 (57:23):
Place but beautiful you mentioned Doctor, morris the craziness of
what has taken place over the last few. YEARS i,
mean how much of an impact do you think that has?
HAD i mean talking about boys and, girls, sports talking
about you, know, drag queen, presentations all these. Events did
The american people look at this say wait a, minute
this is going way too. FAR a common sense tells

(57:44):
me this isn't. Right do you think that that's what's?
HAPPENED a little?

Speaker 11 (57:47):
Bit one hundred? Percent one hundred percent think that's what's.
HAPPENING i was very involved in the campaign over the
definition of. MARRIAGE i was a campaign spokeswoman For PROPOSITION
aid In california back in two thousand and, eight AND
i testified a numerous state legislatures explaining WHY i thought
that the definition of man and woman of marriage as

(58:09):
the union of a man and a woman is good
public policy and should be, retained and of course The
Supreme court wiped that. Out, well you may, remember during
those years when all that discussion was going, on whenever
you would see ADVERTISING tv advertising in favor of redefining,
marriage they would always show you images of two women
and their. Children that's always what you. Saw you very

(58:30):
seldom saw a male. Couple and you certainly didn't see
drag queens on the, stage you. Know and so, right, yeah,
right so you know they got that one thing, passed
AND i did a little. Checking it turns, out you,
know this is the tenth anniversary of The obergafeld. Decision
it turns out the very day before the court.

Speaker 3 (58:49):
Handed down its.

Speaker 11 (58:50):
Decision was that was the day That Vanity fair published
its issue that Had Bruce jenner on the, cover all
dulled up like a.

Speaker 3 (58:59):
Woman.

Speaker 11 (59:00):
Okay and then two weeks after the decision came down
was the first episode OF I Am, jazz the REALITY
tv show that showed a family where the mother thought
the little, boy the little three year old, boy was
really a girl and they're going to transition in and
the whole society is watching this family do. This but
now you tell me that those things happening that close

(59:24):
to each other in, time you're telling me that was a.
COINCIDENCE i don't think that was a. COINCIDENCE i think
the people who are driving the ideological, CAMPAIGN i think
they had that. Planned you, know that they knew they
weren't telling, us but they knew the transgenderism was the
next step on the. Train and now we have, it

(59:45):
and people can really see that's not what they voted,
for not what they, wanted and so a lot of
people are rethinking, that especially as they're seeing young people
make decisions that are really. Irrevocable you, know some of
the medical interventions that are being done really. Irrevocable it's
not like when we did stupid stuff WHEN i was you,
know WHEN i was a young person moving with your.

(01:00:06):
Boyfriend that was bad, enough that was dumb enough right,
there but you could recover from. It and SO i
think people are are alarmed enough to go back and start, rethinking,
well wait a, minute maybe the sex of the body
is really, important and we really shouldn't have redefined marriage
because there's something important about men and women coming together

(01:00:29):
that's not the same as two men or to, women
and that the law should be aware of that and
make provision for it and so. On so that's WHAT
i think is going. On but the people That i'm
seeing that we're interviewing at The Root institute former transgender,
people people who lived as gay men for years and

(01:00:50):
years and then came out of that way of. Life you,
know many of them had traumatic things happened to them
in their. Childhood it might my personal, theory wrong person
theory is that people that that growing from an infant
where you really are not a sexual, Being you don't
you don't have an arousal. Template you, know you don't

(01:01:11):
get sexually aroused from your. Baby right to get from
infancy to, adulthood there's as a developmental, process AND i
think what happens to people is something disrupts the developmental
process of going from infancy to mature adulthood where you
are naturally dare we say, THIS i make it you

(01:01:32):
in trouble for saying, This but the hats on. Me
we naturally are attracted to person of the opposite. Sex
that's what's normal in all mammal. Species that's what's.

Speaker 3 (01:01:44):
Normal you.

Speaker 11 (01:01:45):
Know but something happens to derail or disrupt the developmental,
process and people find themselves in a you, know in
a position where they're they didn't exactly choose, it that
they experience and the experience and in a powerful, way
and they they think maybe they were born that, way
but the it's almost like a statement of. Faith people

(01:02:09):
are born that, way and they can never change what
we already. Know we already know it's not genetic rod
you know that that really we really do have the
evidence on. That there's no basis for the born, gay
immutable trait view of the. Thing but the psychological professions
do not seem to be very interesting in exploring alternative,

(01:02:31):
explanations you. Know but PEOPLE i talk to who have
made that, trip you know who who found themselves in
with the same sex attraction and then journeyed away from,
It they're given me a lot of very interesting insight
about how that happened and how they got out of.
It AND i think a lot of your listeners will

(01:02:52):
be interested to know. That one of the things that
they say, Consistently i'm so glad my mom didn't change her.

Speaker 3 (01:03:00):
Views i'm so.

Speaker 11 (01:03:01):
Glad my mom didn't just affirm me and give up
her religion in order to do. That they Didn't my
mom and dad didn't, approve BUT i always knew they loved,
me AND i had a place to come home.

Speaker 2 (01:03:14):
Too on our newsmaker, line Doctor Jennifer, morris she is
founder of The Ruth, institute talking About Pride. Month all,
right our list Back friday segment's coming up next right
here on The rod And Greg show And Talk radio
ONE o five to NINE. Knrs we do this Every
friday where we look at the newsmakers and the issues
That greg AND i have talked about all week and
select a couple that we know you may have, missed

(01:03:35):
but we had a fascinating interview the other day with
Someone greg we have really looked forward to getting on the.

Speaker 1 (01:03:40):
Show, yes she's the congresswoman From. Wyoming she Defeated Liz
cheney and they have one member Of. Congress, yes, yeah, applause.
Applause she is now that congresswoman and she's been a landy's.
Attorney she knows issues about the public lands and all of.
It she's just very, good very skilled public. Servant.

Speaker 2 (01:03:59):
Yeah her name Is Harriet. Hageman she joined us on
our show earlier this week and we talked about the
controversy Surrounding Mike leed's Lands, bill and as we had
around the, show we asked, her first of, all what
is the one thing that people don't understand about what
Mike lee is trying to.

Speaker 3 (01:04:14):
Do they do not understand that it is, very very
targeted to specific lands to address housing problems in states Like, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Arizona,
California New. Mexico what they're true doing AND i think
that this is. Intentional the intentional misdirection and misinformation is
to get people all worked up that we're going to

(01:04:34):
Sell Titan National. Park we're going to pay paradise and
put up a parking lot In Yellowstone National. Park we're
going to take away all the national. Monuments we're going
to sell us to the highest. Bidder we're going to
take away all your fishing, Spots we're going to take
away all of the. Land and that is absolute, misinformation
and the people who are spreading it know. That but

(01:04:55):
they are doing it intentionally because they realize that most
people will not go look at the bill.

Speaker 1 (01:05:00):
Itself So, HARRIET i was gonna call You, congressoman But,
harriet here you know you are a land used. Attorney
you know. This you Beat Liz, Cheney thank you very,
much and you are a member of the lone member
Of congress And. Wyoming but you know land, ISSUES i
think better than. ANYONE i have been arguing for. Years
many In utah who know this issue have been arguing

(01:05:20):
for years that when the state when this when you
become a, state but the federal government continues to own
most of your, land there's no, revenue there's no taxes
for property, taxes there's nowhere to grow as a. State
it's like a form of jerry. Mandering depend you into
these small. Areas the federal government gives you pennies in
lieu of. Trillions they give you some amount for that
land by way of because you're not getting a. Tax

(01:05:42):
but how does that impact because WE i Think wyoming
would be the. Same we have limited. Land if there's
low supply and there's high, demand everything gets more expensive.

Speaker 3 (01:05:52):
There it's more, expensive but its every aspects of your.
Government as you are pointing, Out So, wyoming our, surface
the state is forty eight percent of our. Surface the
state is owned by the. Fence In utah at sixty three,
percent and so what ends up happening is that we
are not brought into The we were not brought into
The union under the equal footing clause of The United States,

(01:06:15):
constitution which says every new state that comes into The
union comes in on an equal footing as essentially every
other state in the. Nation but as we moved, west
and the reality is that there are some lands that
were not suitable for, homesteading that it's not suitable for,
farming not suitable for. That AND i get that that's
what's largely become THE blm. Lands and then under the
eighteen ninety Seven Organic, act we created The National Forest service.

(01:06:39):
Lands but it was never intended when you look at
our constitution and you look at our, history it was
never intended that the federal government would own six hundred
and forty million. Acres but even setting aside the constitutional
aspect of, this let's just look at the reality of the.
Situation so the examples THAT i keep using to try
to explain What Mike lee is doing is if you

(01:06:59):
go To Las, vegas you'll see quite a few open.
Lots AND i have always, wondered As i've driven Around Las,
vegas why in the world are all of the do
they have all these open lots and it's full of blow,
dirt surrounded by chain league, fences, homelessness you, know, trash
that sort of. Thing AND i, think my, gots these
lands must be worth. Millions why are that they not? Developed,

(01:07:19):
well they're not developed because they're owned by THE. Blm
but the B alum does not manage urban, resources nor should.
They they were never intended to and they don't have
the skills and the resources to do. It so for,
ME i look at those lands AND i think these
are a classic example of the type of lands that
should be easily conveyed to the developers and the city
Of Las vegas so that they can infill rather than build.

(01:07:42):
Outwards you've got the infrastructure, there you have the, streets
you have all of. That this makes sense for THE
blm to dispose of these kinds of isolated, parcels and
they make sense for the city Of Las. Vegas you
taught you just mentioned that you have what eighty percent
of your population in a couple accounts?

Speaker 2 (01:08:01):
Counties, yeah four counties out of twenty.

Speaker 3 (01:08:03):
Nine SO i get asked the question all the, time
how do we keep our young people In? Wyoming how
do we make SURE i want my children and grandchildren
to be able to live. Here and my response, is,
well you have to have jobs in, housing but when
we are so landlocked because of either Forest service OR blm,
lands it becomes very difficult to do. So over in Western,

(01:08:24):
wyoming we have a town Called, kemera And kemera is
Where Bill gates is building his natrium. Reactor, okay we
desperately need housing in that, community but it's entirely surrounded BY.
Blm why wouldn't we identify forty acre sixty acres thirty seven,
acres one hundred and twenty acres right there next to

(01:08:44):
contiguous town to the town Of kemeer to be able
to convey to the city to developers again whomever it might,
be the state Of, wyoming so that people can come
in and they can buy affordable housing in that, area
so that they can work where they live and live
where they. Work right, now we have people coming From Salt,
lake we have people coming From evanston to go to

(01:09:06):
work in that community because there's no affordable housing because it's.
Landlocked that is exactly What Mike lee is. Targeting so
if you look at his, bill it is very specific
to affordable, housing And i'm not talking low income. Housing
affordable housing and temera is different than affordable, housing And,
sheridan it's different Than we're not trying to jerrymander the.

(01:09:29):
Market we're trying to, say free up some lands so
they can be sold and we can develop. It that
is common sense and that's What Mike lee has. Done.

Speaker 2 (01:09:37):
Well continue our conversation with congress woman From wyoming coming
up right here on The rod And Greg show And
Utah's Talk radio One all five nine. Knrs all, right
let's continue our conversation now With wyoming Congress Woman Harriet.
Hageman we're talking About Mike lee's lands. BILL i noticed
today there's a very large hunting and fishing ORGANIZATION i
think In montana who is slamming this. Bill Other hearing

(01:10:00):
And utah have done it as. Well and as we
continue our conversation with the, congressman WHEN i asked, her
how should you respond to hunters and fishermen concerned about
what this bill will mean to their access to public?

Speaker 3 (01:10:12):
Lands please read the bill and don't shoot your guns
next to people who are living in camera right. Now
you're not hunting and fishing on those lands that are
contiguous to. Camera this is exactly the kind of LAND
i am not Talking Mike. Is Senator lee is not
talking about developing lands up in The. Bayhorns last, WEEK
i was doing town halls Around wyoming AND i was

(01:10:33):
talking about how beautiful it was to drive From level
over to Share it and across The, bakehorns and somebody
started screaming at, me you're trying to sell those. Lands
AND i, said why in the world WOULD i sell those?
Lands do you honestly believe that that would be affordable?
Housing to try to do a housing development on top
of The, bayhorns that'd be the dumbest thing in. History my,
gosh it would cost you one hundred million dollars just

(01:10:53):
to build the infrastructure out there for the pipelines and
everything else you. Need that is the. Point please read the,
bill and when you read the, bill you will recognize
that this is not the threat that you claim that it,
is or that people claim that it. Is it, again
is very targeted primarily around urban. AREAS i believe that
the latest iteration of his bill keeps THE blm lands

(01:11:14):
that would be subject to this within five miles of
the boundary of an urban, area AND i have people, say,
well show us the MOUs what lands are you talking?
About AND i, said there aren't. Maps the mouths that
are out there are again a part of the misinformation
campaign about. This BUT i, SAID i don't want to
be the one that is producing the. Maps we want

(01:11:36):
the local, community we want the, States we want the
people who live there to identify the band of lands
that would be subject to this kind of a. Bill
and SOMEBODY i was taking to, YESTERDAY i told them
about the challenges we have With kemera And Las vegas
and she, said, well that makes perfect. SENSE i, mean
why wouldn't we sell those? Lands you think about those

(01:11:58):
lands In Las. Vegas can you imagine the amount of
money that that would generate for our treasury with thirty
seven trillion dollars in debt number?

Speaker 10 (01:12:05):
One but she, said.

Speaker 3 (01:12:07):
Well that makes. Sense why don't You why don't you do?
That we should sell THOSE i agree with, that AND
i said that's what this bill.

Speaker 1 (01:12:14):
Does So, harriet here's. YES i know the aha. Moment
so our rural counties every, census they are losing representation
because they're losing. Population the young people grow up and
to your, point they don't have any there's no, job
there's no, industry there's no. Growth why because when you
get to those, states those, counties it's eighty percent federal.
Land it's it's it's quite. High so would this Would

(01:12:36):
Center lee's bill allow for the rural communities to keep
their young, people find industry and actually be able to
sustain themselves so that their population doesn't continue to shrink
and stay in counties that aren't the four that everybody
lives in right.

Speaker 3 (01:12:50):
Now that is Why Senator lee's bill is so, brilliant
because that's the very intent of. It what is the
debate and discussion we're having in The United State states right?
Now how do we re onshore. Manufacturing how do we
bring back businesses that we have let go To china
and various other. Countries how do we bring back the

(01:13:10):
manufacturing that we, need whether it's, pharmaceuticals or it is
automobile parts or whatever it may. Be how do we do?
That i'm going to tell you what. Happens is any
type of a manufacturing business or any type of a
corporation that is looking at building in a particular look
in a particular, location one of the first things we're
going to look at is do we have adequate housing
for our. Workers that has to be one of the

(01:13:33):
primary things that they look. At what is the quality of?
Life what is the cost of? HOUSING i, mean do
we have manufacturing In Teton county And, Jackson. Wyoming of course,
not and you wouldn't you want to know part of
the reason. Why Because Teton county is ninety seven percent federally.
Owned it is the most defensive county in the Entire
United states for. Housing our billionaires have moved, out our.

(01:13:56):
Millionaires so are you going to come in and bring
in Manufacturing Teton? County of course. Not that isn't the
target of this at. All it never would. Be but
there are areas Of utah in Southwestern wyoming and Central
wyoming and south Central wyoming that are ideal for manufacturing
in terms of our, weather our, skill our, skills, employees.

(01:14:17):
Workforce we've got the access to our community colleges where
we can do programs that are specific through individual. Industries
and yet the manufacturing company comes in and, says, LOOK
i need seven hundred. Employees you don't have the housing for.
It we're going to go To New. Mexico we're going
to go To. Nebraska we're going to go To. Kansas

(01:14:39):
we're going to go. Somewhere this is something else that's
important about. This we're going to go somewhere where we're
going to take private productive farm and ranch land out
of development for housing because we can buy, that we
can develop, that we can create housing. There But god,
forbid we touched that forty acre lot of blm land

(01:15:00):
next To. Kemeerer so this is it even skews the
market because we are looking at taking private property out of,
production ranch, land firm land out of production because we
refuse to let the scrub brush next To keimeraer be
used for affordable.

Speaker 2 (01:15:18):
House by our conversation With Congresswoman Harriet hageman and From,
wyoming we've wanted to get her on the. Show she is.

Speaker 1 (01:15:23):
Great she IS i think very. ARTICULATE i think she
lays it out very AND i THINK i like the
real world examples so that you can kind of get
your head around something as big that language is. Big
it's big to put get your head. AROUND i think
she does a very good.

Speaker 2 (01:15:35):
Job, well last story about camera And wyoming and what
they're going to do up. There interesting, story.

Speaker 1 (01:15:39):
Absolutely, yeah and it puts a real, life practical application to.

Speaker 2 (01:15:42):
It, well have a good, WEEKEND i will say you. Too,
