Speaker 1 (00:00):
Next week they've been extended.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
The business development manager for Princess Cruises will be joining us,
and there's just twenty six days left till Christmas. I
know you're out shopping for my Christmas present and we're
going to be talking about that. Okay, Hawaii is getting
more and more expensive. There is a new fee that
you will absolutely fall over crazy, it's so stupid. And

(00:28):
which airport in the United States is going to have
you walk forever from gate to gate? Well, we do
have some Hawaii and Mexico specials. What is your favorite
travel destination, I'll tell you about mine. And what about
favorite sites in the Holy Land. Yes, the Holy Land
is back. We have groups there right now and coming

(00:51):
up in December.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
It's going to be a lot of fun.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Well, first of all, I want to apologize major apology
for last I don't know what happened, but we had
a engineering problem on the network originating in New York.
We'll blame them because they're so far away, but it's
absolutely true and we were dead air now on some

(01:16):
of our stations were syndicated on nineteen stations. Some of
the stations picked up part of the show I Believe
with k NRS where we originate. It's a mega station
here in Salt Lake City. I think we were dead Air,
Is that right, Denny? Yeah, he's shaking his head or

(01:38):
that he's keeping the beat of the music. I don't
know what's going on with him, crazy kid that runs
the board over here. But I love you Denny anyway.
I want to apologize because it was dead Air. It
was awful, and you know, things happen in technology. But
we're back today and the good news is that Black

(02:03):
Friday specials are still available now. Morris Columbus Travel which
is the sponsor of the Travel show, and it's just
a great travel agency. Morris Columbus Travel is the largest
seller of travel in the entire Inner Mountain area and

(02:24):
as such, they not only have some special deals, but
some are even exclusive deals. Here are some of the
Black Friday specials, and keep in mind that all promotions,
discounts and specials are subject to change and availability at
the time of booking.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
How about with Royal Caribbean by.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
One second Guest is sixty percent off Kids sale free
Princess cruises save up to six hundred dollars often already
disc counted fare fifty percent reduced deposits, fifty percent off
cruise fares with NCL and Virgin Voyages eighty percent off

(03:11):
the second guests. If you like land tours, Trafalgar and
Collett Tours, those are land based tours, not cruises. Trafalgar's
fifty percent off the second guests, Collette twenty five percent
off all tours.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
You know, one of the.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Best promotions that Morris Columbus offers, They've teamed up with
Norwegian Cruise Line for a free air promotion. Now this
is a legitimate free air promotion. It's it's really a
bogo bog buy one, get one and with qualifying cruises,

(03:48):
which is just about every cruise that they offer, the
first person pays a heavily discounted airfare. The seconderson goes
absolutely free, including the taxes and fees. Now the devils
are already in the details. I love this promotion and

(04:09):
I have used at time and time again.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
I'll give you an example.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Last summer we did a Iceland and to England cruise Iceland, Norway, Netherlands,
Belgium and England and a wonderful group of travel show listeners.
My airfare was from Salt Lake to Iceland, home from

(04:37):
London was about fifteen hundred dollars.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
Kathy, my wife, went free.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
That gave us an effective fare of about what seven.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
Hundred and fifty dollars per person.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
I priced it out on United and Delta, and to
fly into recuvic Iceland home from London was over two
thousand dollars. It's about twenty two hundred bucks. Yet I
paid fifteen hundred Kathy went free. Effectively we each paid
seven hundred and fifty dollars. Now that was just that
one example, But what I found with the NCL promotion

(05:16):
is the first person is getting a legitimate discount. Now,
I've seen some of these buy one, get one free offers.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
And it's scam.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
Because they jack up the price of whatever they're selling. First,
you're really paying for the second one. Not so with
Norwegian Cruise Line that it's a legitimate airfare. Now my
next NCL cruise i'd love to have you come with me.
We have a wonderful group of travel show listeners. Is

(05:46):
Tahiti to Hawaii. You've always wanted to go to the
South Pacific Avenue. It's May fifteenth to the twenty seventh.
We visit Tahiti morea bora bora rightI ta the Society Islands,
French Polynesia, cruised the Tuamotu Archipelago of islands, crossed the

(06:07):
Equator and then sail the Hawaiian Islands. To think about
that with a free airfare Tahiti to Hawaii May fifteen
to twenty seven. Next year twenty twenty six, and can
you believe the twenty twenty six is just a month away. Hey,
I'd love to have you join me here on the

(06:27):
Travel show one triple eight five sevenho eight oh one
oh triple eight five seven eighth one oh. Later in
the show, I'm going to briefly mention some highlights of
my recently completed Thailand and Vietnam.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Just got home.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
What a couple of weeks ago, less than two weeks
ago from Vietnam. We had a wonderful group of Travel
show listeners and we were there for the Loyd Cratong Festival,
the biggest, most colorful, most exciting festival in all of
the Kingdom of Thailand. Yes, I said kingdom because they
have a king and a queen, hence a kingdom.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
I'm going to talk briefly.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
I'm going to have a major a description of that
next Saturday. I know people are all tied up here
on the weekend with the holidays. So next Saturday, December
the seventh, I'll actually be in Disneyland that day and
I'll give you all the highlights of Disneyland.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
You know what I'm going to do next week?

Speaker 2 (07:35):
You know John Potter, who is the ultimate authority on
all things Disney. I mean, the guy is growing mouse ears,
I think in a tale, or maybe he's Goofy. I
don't know, he is goofy. But John will be in
studio and I will be in Disneyland. I'm going to

(07:56):
have him guide me through. You don't want to miss
next week where we'll have a guiding tour of Disneyland. John,
what should I do today? I'll be there with some grandchildren,
have a lot of fun. But I also want to
do a deep dive into what we saw in Thailand

(08:17):
and Vietnam.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
Next week? What is that?

Speaker 2 (08:20):
December the seventh? Absolutely crazy? Hey, listen, I've got a
email I want to read to you. This is from
Rayleigh Myers, who is the manager and excellent travel advisor
in our bountiful office at Morris Columbus Travel. Let me

(08:42):
just read you the email she sent you. She says, Hi, Larry,
I just got off the phone with the lady that
called regarding the Travel Show. She was concerned happened since
it did not air on Saturday. All right, time out.
I already talked to you about the dead air anyway.
She went on to tell me that she can't travel anymore.

(09:04):
She's older and blind and looks forward to the show
every Saturday. She has listened for decades. She traveled a
lot in the eighties and nineties to many of the
places that you described. She says, listening to your joy
brings her so much joy. She told me about her

(09:25):
experiences in Africa and wish she could go again. Such
a sweet lady. I love that she took the time
out to call me. Her name is Susan Kuall, and Susan,
thank you for reaching out to Ray Lean. Thank you
for listening to the Travel Show. We're going to dedicate

(09:46):
this show today to Susan Kuall, who is one of
our faithful listeners for decades. You know, I'm going into
my thirty fifth year of hosting the Travel Show. Thirty
five years. I started as a young man, Now I'm
an old man. But you know I'm traveling more now

(10:07):
than I ever have in my life. I'll have to
tell you about our philosophy. Whatever does you want to do,
do it while you can. Hey, when we come back,
Data McCullough, business development manager for a Princess Cruisers, will
be joining us on the love boat.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
We have today.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
You know we're syndicated on nineteen stations, including stations all
the way to the East coast.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
So thank you for joining us. Have so much fun.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
I look forward to every weekend of spending this time
with you, and I am particularly excited to introduce you
or reintroduce you to one of my really good friends.
Data McCullough, business development manager with Princess Cruises. Yes, it's
the love boat. Data, welcome back to the travel show.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
Thank you so much, Larry. I hope you had a
lovely holiday and it's wonderful to be here on this
nice Saturday morning. How's everything going for you?

Speaker 2 (11:08):
I know it's going well. We had a great time
with our kids and grandkids. But I kept thinking I
should be on the love boat somewhere celebrating Thanksgiving.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
What do you think?

Speaker 3 (11:20):
You know?

Speaker 1 (11:20):
I thought?

Speaker 3 (11:20):
My husband and I discussed the same game. We went
out to dinner so I didn't have to cook, and
both of us said, next year we're going to be.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
On a ship.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
We should just go on a cruise summer.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
All right, My wife Kathy and I'll join the two
of you somewhere. We're going.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
Hey, listen, thank you for joining us, and we look
forward to having Princess Cruises at the Utah Travel Expo
and of course the big one in Salt Lake is
January twenty third and twenty fourth at the Mountain America
expos Center. Are you going to be in Saint George
on that Wednesday? Yes, I am.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
I'm doing both shows.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
I thought you were.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
That's Wednesday, January twenty one at the hill Elton Garden
in Saint George. And Dana will have some real specials
for you. Hey, listen, you've got some really cool, great
current promotions.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
Can you review that with us?

Speaker 3 (12:14):
Absolutely, we have several actually going on right now. I
was quite surprised to see how many. So we just
recently opened twenty seven and twenty eight Australia, New Zealand,
so we have a special going on there until December eighth,
which is our free room upgrade up to two hundred
and fifty savings up to fifty percent off. I also

(12:34):
have Denali on sale which is twenty twenty sixth Alaska
Cruise Tour pricing through the eighth of December, which is
up to four hundred dollars savings up to fifty percent off.
And then we also have continuing of the Blue Friday
Cyber Weekend which is through December one, which gives up
to eight hundred dollars in instant savings, and some voyages

(12:54):
have third and fourth guests free. So there is a
lot going on at Princess. You really need to contact
your Columbus agent and get that stuff booked.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
You know that Blue Friday special is again good through
December first, which is Monday. You want to be sure
and give Lris Columbus a call for that. You mentioned Denali.
You'll remember that this year. This past summer, I did
my annual Alaska with who.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
Princess Cruise is.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
Of course you guys like own Alaska, but we did
Denali as an option. You can take just a cruise
and that's what I call the North South Vancouver to
Anchorage or vice versa, and then Denali pre or post cruise.
I got to tell you that I loved Denali. You know,
we took they transferred us from I call it Anchorage

(13:46):
is actually you know, down on the coast, and uh,
the scenery you get inland and some of our travel
was by dome train dome meaning glass top, but Danali
itself hearkens back to a different era. We went into
the park and yeah, we saw grizzly bears. We saw

(14:11):
that was a real highlight up close with a grizzly
fortune that we were in the bus.

Speaker 3 (14:16):
You know, it's a huge highlight. And as you mentioned,
the train, So I always tell people. They say, oh,
I'll just do it myself, and I'll you know, I'll
do the Great As Highway and all that, and I said,
you're missing the point. The point is the train takes
you where there are no public roads. What you're seeing
is absolute spectacular beauty that you will not see anywhere else.

(14:38):
And our train cars are spectacular, as you mentioned, their
glass domes. And it's a wonderful, wonderful trip. I recommend
it to everyone. You've not seen Alaska fully until you've
gone up to Danali and done the land tour.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
You know, I have two Alaska cruises booked with Princess
for twenty twenty six. We'll be sailing round for from
Seattle July twelve to nineteen, and then in twenty twenty
seven we're doing the North South Vancouver to Anchorage and
with the Dinali option, and that's both of those are

(15:13):
available for sale. Let's turn to more Princess globally. Where
do you sail? How many ships do you have?

Speaker 3 (15:23):
Well, we pretty much sail everywhere. I always favored there's
a body of water, you're going to see a Princess
ship with a seawitch on the front. And we're currently
with the release of the Star Princess. Recently we have
seventeen ships in our fleet.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
Wow, hey, you know you have a Princess vacation protection.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
Could you explain that to us?

Speaker 3 (15:40):
So my feeling on this is you should never travel
without insurance. And I because yeah, because my parents, God
bless them both. They are no longer with us. But
my dad was one of those who always bought insurance
and one year he said, I'm not buying it. I
never use it. It's a waste of money. And my

(16:01):
mom fell getting off a motor coach in it. In Australia,
and she had to go to the hospital. She had to
have a cast put on her leg. It was thousands
of dollars out of his pocket. And he told me
after that, he said, I will never say no to insurance.
You never know what's going to happen. They also had
to cancel a trip one time due to an illness
right before they left, and they would have been out

(16:21):
about ten grand. So I'm sorry. I am a former
travel advisor. I recommend it highly to everyone.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
Well, you can speak to your Morris Columbus travel advisor
about the Princess vacation package. We're speaking with Dana McCullough,
business development manager with Princess Cruises. Dana, we have about
a minute left and let me ask you this question.
There's a lot of good cruise options out there. Princess

(16:52):
is one of my favorite cruise lines. You already know
that I had four groups this year with Princess. And
by the way, I love the pizza. Oh my gosh, it's.

Speaker 1 (17:01):
A really yeah, it's surreal.

Speaker 2 (17:03):
But yeah, there's other good cruise lines. Why Princess other
than the pizza.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
Yeah, other than the pizza. I love the pizza. So
with our juniorships, we have so much to offer. We
have the ship within a ship with our Sanctuary collection.
We also have the medallion, which we're the only one
that has this. And my feeling, I've been in the
business forty years. I was an advisor thirty years prior
to joining Princess. You just you know what you're getting.

(17:32):
It's an amazing value for what you get. It's consistently excellent.
Most of the time. The crew on board exceed your expectations.
I've never had a problem with a meal, and of
course the pizza. I have to get at pizza in
at least twice. Every time I fail.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
I go for four or five times a day.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
Hey, Data McCullough, business development Manager, Princess Cruises, thank you
for joining us here on the travel show here on
KUTV Channel two in the Salt Well, Utah and southern Idaho.
It's the CBS affiliate affiliate television for this area on

(18:10):
the new news as a travel reporter.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
Now, what's interesting about this.

Speaker 2 (18:15):
I've been doing it for about sixteen years and pre pandemic,
I would go into the KUTV studio, Channel two in
downtown Salt Lake City and I would go on the
set with the anchors. Now they're dressed. Ron's in a
nice suit. Mary wears a beautiful dress. And I always

(18:36):
went in with the loudest Aloha shirts. I have about
fifteen Aloha shirts and would sit on the set with
the anchors. So they're dressed so nicely, and I'm in
this Aloha shirt. It's branding. I've had people say to me, Hey,
I recognize I'm wearing an Aloha shirt out in public.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
Day Oh.

Speaker 2 (18:58):
I recognize that shirt from tell Tsion. But it's a
travel news. It's not a commercialal I do TV commercials,
but the new news. Every Monday, I do a travel
report now pre pandemic. As I mentioned, I'd go into
the studio during the COVID pandemic and lockdown. Channel two

(19:20):
wanted to reduce the foot traffic in the studio because
of COVID, and so they said, Larry, film the get
It's called the Getaway Guru, my radio nickname. Film the
Getaway Guru. Travel news. It could be something your passport
requirements have changed. Princess Cruise is having a new sale,

(19:43):
Delta Airlines has a new sale.

Speaker 1 (19:46):
You know, it's travel news.

Speaker 2 (19:49):
And they said film it outside the studio and just
email it into us. They want to keep people out
of the studio because of COVID, so I did that.
The pandemic is over and they said, okay, Larry, come
back back in the studio, and I said, no, this
is fantastic. I can be anywhere in the world and

(20:11):
shoot the segment now and then email it in. And
so that's what that's what I've been doing last Saturday,
or excuse me, last this past Monday. It was filmed
in my office at home, but the Sunday before it
was filmed in Vietnam.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
And so it's a lot of fun.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
Now it can play any time between twelve noon and
one pm. Usually it's about twelve forty to twelve fifty,
So tune in to KUTV Channel two noon news. They're
great news anyway, Ron and Mary and others are there.
But between twelve forty and twelve fifty you'll see my

(20:56):
mug on the television. My grandkid. The young ones get
a big, big kick out of that. Well, we just
celebrated Thanksgiving, what two days ago. I hope you had
a good time. I hope you went into calorie overload.
You know, the average person on Thanksgiving, the average American
consumes four thousand, five hundred calories. Now, our crack producer, Denny,

(21:23):
not our producer on crack, he consumed ten thousand calories.
He was in He actually told me he was in
total food overload. Is that right, Denny? He's shaking his
head and he in fact, because of that, he had
to waddle into the studio this morning. Okay, here's this
some fun facts. Oh, by the way, I want to

(21:43):
give that number again if you'd like to join me
on the show triple eight five seven eighth one. Oh,
here to the studio. Some fun facts on Thanksgiving? Now,
did you know that one of the most pop repueler
Christmas songs was not originally written as a Christmas song?

(22:06):
Jingle Bells? It was originally written as a Thanksgiving song.
It was composed by James Lord Pierpoint in eighteen fifty
seven and was initially entitled one Horse, Open Sleigh And
it was intended for a Thanksgiving Sunday school class. And

(22:27):
you know, the song's cheerful melody and references to sleigh
rides continued or contributed to its association.

Speaker 1 (22:36):
With a holiday season over time.

Speaker 2 (22:38):
Yes, jingle Bells was originally written for Thanksgiving not for Christmas.
Now here's another shocker. Joy to the World. Did you
know that Joy to the World was not written for Christmas.
It's not about the birth of Christ. It was originally
written in seventeen nineteen by Isaac Watts as part of

(23:01):
a collection of poems, and it was then in eighteen
forty eight it was set to an arrangement by an
American composer, Lowell Mason, and it's really the hymn's lyrics
are a Christian interpretation of Psalm ninety eight and Genesis three.

(23:23):
It was intended for an It was written for an
Easter service to poem Joy to the World. And so
every time in church when we sing Joy to the
World at Christmas, I think we should be talking about
the Second Coming, not the First Coming.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
Well, anyway, for the first excuse me.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
The first Thanksgiving feast was in the fall of sixteen
twenty one and there were fifty pilgrims ninety members of
the Wampanog Indian or Native American tribe, including their chief.
As it was a three day harvest. Now, Denny, jump

(24:06):
on the jump on the show. No, no, no, Denny,
just go so that you can talk on the show.
Can you talk from where you are? He cannot. Anyway,
It's gonna say, Denny, how would you how would it
affect you if you had three days of feasting like
you did on Thanksgiving?

Speaker 1 (24:26):
He just keeled over dead. Uh. Oh, we don't have
a producer anymore. Anyway.

Speaker 2 (24:32):
The first Thanksgiving turkey was not on the menu. It
was venison, duck, goose, shellfish, and fish. And two days ago,
over fifty million pumpkin pies were eaten, not pumpkin slices pies.
And what's really interesting is the first TV dinner was

(24:52):
invented after a Thanksgiving food company miscalculated a turkey order. Well,
Thanksgiving was declared a national holiday by Abraham Lincoln in
eighteen sixty three, after seventeen years of campaigning by Sarah Hale,

(25:13):
the author of Mary Had a Little Lamb and Thanksgiving
is the fourth Thursday in November because of a nineteen
forty one congressional resolution signed by FDR One. Last thing
that Macy's preyed, you know, we watched that with our
grandkids on Thursday.

Speaker 1 (25:33):
Oh, that is so much fun.

Speaker 2 (25:34):
But the original Macy's Day parade in nineteen twenty four
did not have the large balloons that we see today. No,
it had live zoo animals. Anyway, I hope you had
a great Thanksgiving. We sure did. Many thanks to my

(25:55):
family for getting together on that. Okay, now there are
just twenty six days left till Christmas. Are you out
shopping for my present yet?

Speaker 1 (26:09):
Are you? Actually?

Speaker 2 (26:10):
I think it's twenty seven days? As my high school
math never as much as that. Twenty seven days till Christmas.
Let me tell you the absolute best Christmas present, and
that is a Morris Columbus travel gift card. Now, I'm
going to let me ask you two questions. Have This
is what's called top of mind awareness. You have two

(26:31):
seconds to answer these questions. Two seconds. First question, tell
me a gift that you got two years ago for Christmas.

Speaker 1 (26:43):
Can't do it? Can you? Now? Try this? You have
two seconds.

Speaker 2 (26:47):
I want you to tell me, simply the destination of
a place that you went on for a vacation when
you were a child with your family. Bingo, you've come
up with something heavy. Why is it that you can
reach all the way back to your childhood? And Dale Anderson,
I know you're listening. That goes back a century? Doesn't

(27:09):
it to your childhood. Thank you very much, Dale, But
why do we go back to our childhood. We can
remember a family vacation, but we can't remember a gift
from one or two years ago. Now, this does not
diminish Christmas gifts. A book, a sweater, a basketball, a
new bicycle, something. But these things are things. Nothing wrong

(27:35):
with that. I love things, but they don't create emotional memories.
But a trip with your family. You have reached back
in two seconds to a family trip that you took
as a child. Why because it is an experience. An
experience generates these lifelong memories and wonderful memories. They are well,

(27:58):
give the gift of travel. Give the gift of a
travel experience with a Morris Columbus gift card and they
I mean it's applicable to just about anything you want
to purchase. Contact your favorite Morris Columbus Travel advisor for
the greatest Christmas gift of all, the Morris Columbus Travel

(28:19):
Gift Card.

Speaker 1 (28:20):
And they got a nice little the way they put
it together.

Speaker 2 (28:25):
Now, if you have already a favorite Morris Columbus travel advisor,
you have his or her travel travel number direct line.
But if you don't have a favorite Advisor call eight hundred,

(28:48):
triple nine forty six forty six. Hey, I do want
to remind you of the Utah Travel Expo. Now, that'll
be Wednesday, January twenty first at the Hilton Garden In
in Saint George. Now we'll have about fifty sixty travel
vendors at that one, because that's all we can fit
into the ballroom at the Hilton Garden Inn.

Speaker 1 (29:11):
And you're going to.

Speaker 2 (29:12):
Get exclusive travel expo discounts you can't find anywhere else. Now,
that is Wednesday, January twenty first, Saint George, the Hilton
Garden Inn in the Salt Lake area. It will be
Friday and Saturday, January twenty third and twenty fourth at
the Mountain America Expost Center in Sandy. Now, this one

(29:37):
will have over a hundred travel vendors. Last year we
had one hundred and seven. These are airlines, cruise lines,
safari companies, resorts, hotels, tour companies, all things travel. And
you well, you know what's nice about this is you
can sit down one on one with representatives of airlines,

(30:00):
cruise lines, safari companies, tour companies, all of these and
ask question. You know, people come with written questions and
you can find out is this vacation idea the perfect
one for my family? And what exclusive discounts can I
take advantage of? Well, listen more when we come back

(30:21):
on the Travel Show.

Speaker 1 (30:29):
Pay Less.

Speaker 2 (30:30):
Check out their website at Morriscolumbus dot com. That's Morriscolumbus
dot com, or give them a call at eight hundred
triple nine forty six forty six. Let's go to the
phone lines. Brenda is calling Brenda. Welcome to the Travel Show.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
Thanks for having me, and.

Speaker 1 (30:50):
How can I help you today?

Speaker 3 (30:53):
Oh? My earlier you were talking about a Thailand and
Vietnam tour and my Husbin and I are really interested
in something like that and we were just wondering if
you were playing.

Speaker 1 (31:04):
On doing that or something like that. Again, Well, thank you.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
You know you've heard me say Brenda that if it
weren't for my kids and grandkids, I would live in Thailand.
You know, it's the people, the culture, it's world class
medical care, great value. This recent Vietnam Thailand trip that
you referenced, we had a wonderful group of listeners and

(31:30):
we timed it so that we could celebrate Loy Kratong,
which is the most fantastic, colorful holiday in all of
the Kingdom of Thailand. Loy Kratong is kind of a
combination of New Year's, Christmas, Easter, Ramadan, the Day of Atonement,

(31:53):
Pioneer Day, Valentine, everything, and it's a very it's the
biggest celebration in in the country. But a kretong is
a banana leaf and as part of that, you put
a candle, some incense, some little food offering. You push
it out on a body of water, and what you're

(32:15):
doing symbolically is releasing all of your bad feelings, bad luck,
hurt feelings, anything negative, and you push it out and
it's a day of renewal. You push all your mistakes,
your sins if you will out there. I've said, well,
if it's going to take our mistakes and sins, I

(32:37):
don't need a banana leaf.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
I need a freighter to take care of all of that.
But that was just part of it.

Speaker 2 (32:46):
So we enjoyed Bangkok fitzen Uluk, Sukkotai, the ancient capital
of the Lantic Kingdom, enough to chang Mai, which is
just elephant camp, and my favorite temple, what Dousu Tep.
It's the gold temple way up in the Mountains inter

(33:07):
National Park. It's interesting how centuries ago they they picked
the site of this. They had the elephants are considered sacred,
and they had an albino white elephant, very rare, and
they they had a part of a collarbone bone of

(33:29):
Lord Buddha which they have fastened to the back, and
they said with that the elephant will pick the.

Speaker 1 (33:37):
Site of the temple.

Speaker 2 (33:38):
What wat is the word for temple like in Salt Lake,
the LDS temple would be called what salt lake. This
is what doussu tep and meaning the temple on the
top of the mountain. And the for days, the elephant
wandered and went to the top of the mountain and
trumpeted three times and then keeled over dead. Well, this

(34:03):
has to be the side of the temple. Then we
flew on to Vietnam. I love Vietnam, and we spent
some time in Hanoi, visited the prison where John McCain
was held as a pow for five five years, out
to Hallong Bay three times named as a UNESCO World

(34:25):
Heritage Site, and we had called it's a liver board
Ultra Deluxe liver board for our group we charted it.
We took the whole thing for our group, which I
keep to about thirty eight people. This liverboard has twenty
cabins on Wow and then down to Saigon to the
Kuchi tunnels, which are those tunnel rats from Vietnam. Now

(34:48):
they're not animals, they're the men that would go down
there anyway, and then all over Saigon which is now
called Hochi. It was a fabulous tour and I think
next week, because of your call, I'm going to invite
someone from the tour to.

Speaker 1 (35:05):
Talk about it. Now.

Speaker 2 (35:07):
Yes, I will be doing it again. The Loi Cretong
Festival is set by the lunar calendar, so and it's
next year in November. I've got the Maykng cruise, so
I can't do it, but twenty twenty seven November I
will be doing it. Now, do me a favor, Brenda.

(35:28):
Don't call Morris Columbus Travel on Monday. The agents go
crazy at me, throwing things, kicking me out of the office.
If I mention a tour that they don't know anything about,
it's not in our system. I will tell you I've
already sent request to hotels and that liverboard boat for

(35:56):
twenty twenty seven. I know the dates. It'll be early November,
but the agents don't. They will kill me if you say, hey,
I want to book Larry's November Loi Cratong, Thailand, Vietnam.

Speaker 1 (36:08):
Don't do it.

Speaker 2 (36:09):
I will announce on this show when it's open for sale, okay, Brenda.

Speaker 3 (36:16):
Will it also be on your website?

Speaker 2 (36:18):
It will be when I announce, It'll be on the
website and you'll hear it here first. But anyway, I'm
going to send out an email to the agent said
I have a caller asked this, but I suppose you
could call and say, hey, when it comes out, call me.

Speaker 1 (36:37):
First my Thailand or the last two and so loud
three day, say more and I'll the number two. Thank you, Brenda.

Speaker 2 (36:51):
Give me your recommendations, your exciting travel experiences, your advice
questions that you may have now. I mentioned that Hawaii
has never met a fee.

Speaker 1 (37:06):
They didn't like.

Speaker 2 (37:07):
Something you have to look at when you book a
hotel or an air and sea package is what are
the resort fees which are mandatory? To me, it's nothing
more than a deceptive excuse to pick our pockets.

Speaker 1 (37:23):
And yes we love Hawaii. And it's not just Hawaii.

Speaker 2 (37:27):
Hotels are charging a resort or destination fee separate from
the hotel rate and taxes. It's just a tack on
now in Hawaii, at the lower end hotels, it's usually
about thirty bucks a day. At the higher end hotels,
it's fifty or even sixty bucks a day plus taxes.

(37:51):
And what do you get for it? It's awful. They
one hotel said, well, we'll let you use a towel
at the pool. Well, thank you. Where do I send
the thank you note? You know, we'll give you a newspaper,
We'll give you unlimited local telephone calls. It's an excuse
to pick our pockets. Now under the Biden administration, President

(38:12):
Biden had repeatedly stated, even in his State of the
Union addresses twice said that he was going to get
rid of these call him junk fees and make the
hotel include it in the room rate. You can all
mandatory fees.

Speaker 1 (38:31):
Now.

Speaker 2 (38:31):
They did this with airlines. Airlines used to come out
with a I remember one discount airline offering one dollar
fares with taxes of two hundred and fifty to three
hundred dollars taxes and fees. Now, one thing, the airlines
don't they have to pay tax. They pay the tax
on the fare. They don't pay any tax on these

(38:52):
ancillary charges, these extra like airline imposed fees, fuel searchcharges.
And the government said, no, whatever you advertise must include
all taxes and fees. Cruise lines are doing that now too.
I'll give you an example I mentioned earlier when we

(39:15):
had the business development manager Dana mcculloughf from Princess Cruises
on the show that I will be doing an Alaska
cruise next year twenty twenty six, July twelve to nineteen,
round trip Seattle on the Star Princess Juno, Ketchikan, Skagway,
Glaciers galore. And we do our own private short esc

(39:39):
For example, we charter a boat to go well watching.
We don't follow the others. We can go anywhere we want.
We have an excursion to Mendenhall Glacier Land Glacier. It's
not off the cruise ship. We do the Totem parks
in Ketchikan, Creek Street City tour.

Speaker 1 (39:58):
Out to wildlife viewing.

Speaker 2 (40:01):
We're looking for bears there in Ketchikan. I hope you'll
join me. Now, let me give you an example. People
have said they believe it just seems that cruises are
more expensive than last year.

Speaker 1 (40:16):
I'll tell you why.

Speaker 2 (40:17):
Starting this year, the taxes and fees are included in
the price that you see. Last year twenty twenty four,
they were separate. Now let me show you the difference
the lead price on my Alaska July twelve to nineteen.
I hope you'll join, and we have private, exclusive onboard activities.

(40:41):
I'll be your host and tour guide and our own
exclusive private shore excursions which I just mentioned.

Speaker 1 (40:48):
Now the lead price.

Speaker 2 (40:51):
Is just twelve nineteen one two hundred and nineteen, And
people are saying, Larry, it's like I saw nine hundred
and one thousand dollars last year. Yeah, you did, but
that did not include the taxes. So that typically taxes
are running three hundred to three hundred and fifty dollars.
Some of that is cruise line in post surcharges. The

(41:16):
taxes on the twelve nineteen, which were not included last year,
are three hundred and thirty bucks. So let's take three
hundred and thirty bucks from the twelve nineteen and the
actual cruise fair is just eight hundred and eighty nine
dollars plus tax which is added in last year. You

(41:37):
would have not seen that this is one of the
greatest prices on Alaska. You're paying eight hundred and eighty
nine dollars plus the taxes of three point thirty. Hence
the advertised price starts at just twelve nineteen. Uh. That
is that I think is truth in advertising. Well, hotels

(41:59):
haven't done that. Biden twice said he was going to
force them to include it.

Speaker 1 (42:04):
He didn't.

Speaker 2 (42:05):
I guess he forgot about it, but he mentioned in
his State of the Union. I'm not expecting President Trump
to do that. Why because he owns hotels and he
collects these fees or his company does I know he
stepped out of the business operations. So here is the

(42:26):
new Hawaii junk fee is optional out on the Kailua
Kona coast, the way Coloa Coast there on the big
outand Hawaii, which gets almost no rain, the hotels are
offering do you want rain insurance? Now this would be

(42:49):
almost like it's not exactly. If it's like you want
rain insurance for Death Valley and to they will give
you a It's about two hundred bucks back day when
there's been five hours of rain from eight am to
five pm. Five hours. Well that just like never happens

(43:11):
on the Wye Koloa coast. It is dry, it's the
dry side of the Big Island.

Speaker 1 (43:16):
Now it is.

Speaker 2 (43:17):
Optional, but what happens the hotels don't hotels collect the
fee and another company.

Speaker 1 (43:26):
Is the one that collects it.

Speaker 2 (43:32):
Danny, Do we have a caller on the line. Okay,
I don't see a name there, but let's go. So
welcome to the Travel Show. And who am I speaking with?

Speaker 3 (43:42):
And this is Jennifer Linnyman.

Speaker 2 (43:44):
Hello, Jennifer, thank you for joining me on the Travel Show.
And how can I help you today? Jennifer? Are you there?
Hello Jennifer. Oh, we lost to Jennifer. Please call back.
That's triple eight five seven oh eight oh one oh,

(44:07):
triple eight five seven oh eight oh one.

Speaker 1 (44:11):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (44:12):
We have about two minutes to the break, so if
we don't get you before, if you call back and
we don't have time, hold over and we'll take you
in the next segment. Thank you Jennifer for calling anyway,
So I think to me it's a legal scam. It
is optional, you don't have to take it, but some people,
Oh yes, oh yes, and it runs seventeen bucks a

(44:32):
day a day for a place that hardly ever rains.
I've mentioned a spring break cruise. Uh, that is just fabulous.
It's a five day, four night cruise. Kathy and I
gave this cruise to our family, all of our kids,

(44:53):
all of our grandkids. We gave this to That was
Christmas of twenty twenty four. It's about a year ago.
We said we're going to take you on a cruise.
We're gonna pay for the cruise and the taxes. You
pay the gratuities, you get yourself to the Port of
Los Angeles, which is really in San Pedro, closer to
Long Beach Airport than to LAX, but you can use

(45:17):
LAX and they have transfers available.

Speaker 1 (45:21):
Now. I love this cruise.

Speaker 2 (45:22):
It's with Royal Caribbean on one of my favorite ships,
the Navigator of the Seas. I've sailed on it three
or four times. And our whole family is going to
be on this cruise. Could it doesn't have to be
a family. You can take it as a couple, as
a single, but it is. The dates are April six
to ten. Now that's significant for most of Utah. It's

(45:44):
a Monday to Friday, because for most of Utah that
is spring break. Not all school districts, but most school districts.

Speaker 1 (45:52):
I know that Salt Lake.

Speaker 2 (45:53):
District and the Granite District is that particular week and
then you have the weekends, you know, Friday, Saturday, before
and after. It's a five day cruise with sailing from
the Port of la We have a sail on Monday afternoon.
On Tuesday, we're on Catalina Island. Do I love Catalina Islands.

(46:14):
It's a bit like Oh, Santa Cruz, Newport Beach, Santa
Monica Wednesday, a full day at sea on Thursday, stop
in Mexico Friday, sailing back. A passport is not required,
although always recommended proof of citizenships. Let me give you
the prices for two people. These are the lead prices,

(46:37):
including all taxes and fees, four hundred and sixty nine
bucks per person for a five day cruise.

Speaker 1 (46:43):
But how about four people.

Speaker 2 (46:46):
It's sharing a cabin three hundred and ninety three dollars
per person quad occupancy. Keep in mind all rates and
promotions are subject to change and available today.

Speaker 1 (46:58):
I'd love to have you join me. I'll be on
on board. We'll be doing some special things.

Speaker 2 (47:02):
April six to ten, twenty twenty six, rates for a
quad three hundred and ninety three dollars for a five
acres for syndicated on nineteen stations. And I want to
thank you from the bottom of my heart. I don't

(47:22):
take the show lightly, or you're joining us lightly. And
you know what happens probably at least a half a
dozen times every week, and it's very flattering, is that
I will be somewhere. It happened actually yesterday at a
store and someone says, I recognize your voice. You're the

(47:44):
travel guy, You're the Getaway Guru, You're the travel show host.
And I always spend a minute and chat with them.
You know, where's your favorite place to go?

Speaker 1 (47:56):
Tell me?

Speaker 2 (47:57):
And I get some great suggestions of the travel show too.
So I told talk to you earlier about the KUTV
Monday noon News that's every Monday. It's been for like
sixteen years. I'm their travel reporter on the Getaway Guru segment.
Every other Tuesday, I appear on Fresh Living, which is

(48:19):
a kind of a talk show, and usually David is
the one that I David Osmond is one of the
hosts there and anyway, It's just so much fun. If
you see me, if you hear a familiar voice, please

(48:39):
please please say hello. This chat for a minute. I
love meeting you, and I appreciate all of that. Now
we talked earlier about Hawaii. I love Hawaii. Now this
is a real number. I'm not bragging. I'm just saying it.
I've been to Hawaii one hundred and seventy times. My

(48:59):
first time was in nineteen sixty six. I was sixteen
years old. I grew up as a kind of a
surfer boy in California. I was never really that good,
but I could get up and I could ride the waves.
I didn't do any of these monster waves, but I
enjoyed it. I enjoyed hanging out with the surfer crowd.

(49:21):
I used to cut school there. I grew up in
San Francisco, and I used to cut school and my
buddies and I would head down to Santa Cruz. Steamer's
Lane is where we'd go surfing. I had a perfect
forgery of my father's signature, which would get me into
school the next day. Yes, I'm guilty, I'm a forger.

Speaker 1 (49:42):
You know.

Speaker 2 (49:44):
But as a senior, I was one of the student
body officers, setting a very poor example forging my father's
signature about how ill I was the day before we
went surfing, and you know, the surf spray and the saltwater,
the sun I think was tremendous for my health. I
had a miraculous recovery for the next day of school. Anyway,

(50:07):
that started my love of Hawaii. And I have this
great picture of me playing the guitar, or attempting to.
I wasn't any good at the guitar, but I like
to strum a little bit, sitting on the beach, shirtless,
just playing it. That was back at a time when
I looked really, really good in a bathing suit.

Speaker 1 (50:26):
That has been decades ago.

Speaker 2 (50:28):
Now did I tell you why I don't wear a
black bathing suit anymore? Yeah, someone yelled their she blows
as I was swimming in Waikiki, dodged the harpoons. I
fell asleep on the Waikiki beach, I really did, and
I was awoken by the green piece workers dumping buckets
of water on me, trying to push me back into

(50:50):
the ocean. So yeah, anyway, age sixteen, Yeah, looking good.

Speaker 1 (50:56):
Anyway, I love Hawaii.

Speaker 2 (50:58):
Now here's some questions the way you always get the
best price if you buy an air and hotel package.
There are what I call secret airfares. The actual legal
name is tour operator fair where airlines will contract with
a handful of tour companies, Morris Columbus Travel being one

(51:21):
of them. Very few say we will give you these
ridiculous airfares. But you can't sell air only. You got
to package. It was something. It can be a car rental,
it can be a hotel. It has to be something
to hide the price. And in some cases the bundled
price is less than airfare only in some cases. Anyway,

(51:46):
here are the questions that you should ask yourself when
booking an air and hotel package to Hawaii, for that matter,
just about anywhere. First of all, what is the quality
of the hotel? Am I looking for the cheap cheap
You know where college students go on a liquid diet

(52:07):
for spring break? I hope not, But Denny, I don't
want you going there. Where What is the hotel that
I typically stay at? For Hawaii? A three, four or
five star can work? Three being now there's one and two,
but don't go to them. They're dumps. The three stars

(52:28):
more of the budget. In Mexico, I would never go
below a four star. So what is the quality of
the hotel? What are the services at the hotel on property?
Does it have a gym, a spa, a restaurant? Now
these may or may not be important to you, but
at least asked the question. Oh, here are the nasty,

(52:48):
evil satanic resort fees? What are the resort fees and
parking fees? What is really included in my package? Does
it have a pool? Is a pool important? What about
the size or location? What the distance from the hotel
to the beach, if the beach is important?

Speaker 1 (53:10):
What are the.

Speaker 2 (53:10):
Nearby shopping and attractions and restaurants? Are they within easy
walking distance? And what about public transportation if I'm going
to use it? Let me give you some current Hawaii
and Mexico air specials. First, let's head to Oahu in Hawaii.
Honolulu for the fourth star at the Hotel Twin Fin,

(53:33):
which actually not a bad place one thousand and seventy
six per person. Yes, Hawaii is plus resort fees. Mexico
is not five star. I love the Hilton Hawaiian Village.
Just twelve thirty four that's six days, five nights. You
can extend it and the price is adjusted. Let's head
down to Cankun, Oh. By the way, that Honolulu was

(53:56):
I looked at early February.

Speaker 1 (53:58):
February five to ten.

Speaker 2 (54:00):
In can Kun early March the fifth to the tenth,
the A four star starts at just one thousand and
eight dollars at the Sandos Nature Resort and the Dreams
Dreams is a great hotel. Change the dream Sapphire in
Cancun one thousand and sixty for a five star resort.

(54:21):
Puerto Viyarta the Crystal Porto Aayarta four star early March
just eleven thirty seven.

Speaker 1 (54:28):
Live star start at eleven ninety eight and.

Speaker 2 (54:31):
That's air, hotel, neils, drinks, transfers, activities.

Speaker 1 (54:35):
More when we come back here on the Travel show
now already talks to you about it more Columbus Travel
the gift card and check out.

Speaker 2 (54:47):
All the offerings at Morriscolumbus dot com. But that gift
card is fantastic. And we're going to be talking starting
next Saturday about Christmas traditions, and I'll share some of
the family Christmas traditions that I had growing up that
I have continued on to my kids. You know a question,

(55:07):
perhaps the number one question I get as I meet
people is Larry, you have been everywhere, So what's your
favorite place. I've been to one hundred and seventeen countries,
got some new ones coming up. I'd like to hit
one hundred and fifty. I think that'd be kind of

(55:28):
cool here. But here's how I answer that question. What's
your favorite place? What's your favorite travel destination? Well, my
question back to the individual is what is the purpose
of the trip? You see for sheer, absolute physical beauty

(55:48):
that overloads the census. French Polynesia, that's an easy one.
The island of Tahiti, Bora Bora, which James Mishner, the
famous author, said was the most beautiful island of the world.
Open Nohu Bay on the island of Moorea, which I
think is the most beautiful single spot on earth. Do

(56:11):
you remember that nineteen fifty eight movie with Mitzi Gainer,
I'm going to wash that man right out of my hair?
South Pacific. You remember the legendary island of bally High. Well,
the real bally High Mountain that was used as the
inspiration in the movie is right there at Openo Hube.

Speaker 1 (56:30):
Now here's what doesn't make any sense.

Speaker 2 (56:33):
Captain Cook of the British Admiralty and all of that
was the first European I won't say the one the
discovered because people were living there, the indigenous people with
the first European. And there are two bays side by side,
Cooks what's called today Cook's Bay and Openohu Bay. Captain

(56:55):
Cook dropped anchor and open o Hubay, but they named
the other one after him. I've never figured that one out.
But open Ahube on three sides. On the backside is surrounded.
On the backside is the Bali High Mountain. On the
on the two side wings these sheer walls mountains.

Speaker 1 (57:17):
They go straight up.

Speaker 2 (57:18):
They don't cascade up, they go straight up, covered in
vegetation thousand feet or more. And then to the open
side is the Pacific Ocean. That is the most beautiful
spot on earth. French Polynesia. And then so for sheer
physical beauty, French Polynesia for something exciting, exotic, perfectly safe.

(57:46):
But everything from the foothills of the Himalayas down to
the most beautiful beaches on earth, the people, the culture.
You know what I'm going to say, Where I would
live if it weren't for my kids and grandkids. And
that is Thailand, Yes, the foothills in Himalaysian. I don't
know if you ever saw that movie with Leonardo DiCaprio

(58:09):
called Beaches or Beach that was filmed in Thailand. And
in the theater when that movie came out, they would
show a beach scene of one of the islands in
the south of Thailand and you would hear an audible
gasp in the theater because of the beauty. So for

(58:29):
physical beauty, French Polynesia, for something exciting, exotic, wonderful, all
the activities from elephant rides to beaches, great food, that's
Thailand where I go every year with the group. Now
for history, it's hard to beat Europe and the Middle East,

(58:49):
isn't it.

Speaker 1 (58:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (58:50):
And by the way, speaking of the Middle East, now
is a great time to go to the Holy Land
and to Egypt. By the way, next Saturday, I'll be
having Dan Homme, who I actually lead Holyland tours with.
He's got some lined up for March early next year.
It's a great time to go. I would take my

(59:12):
kids there right now. I feel safe there and we'll
talk more about that next setting. You want to be
sure and hear what Dan, the ultimate authority on the
Holy Land has to say. And for adventure, a great
migration Safari in Kenya which only happens in July, August

(59:34):
and September. So that's how I answer that question. I
do want to share with you and invite you to
join me on two of my adventures. Both are river
cruises with Alma Waterways, the ultimate deluxe river cruise company.
They are just in a league by themselves. Here is

(59:57):
one in November of twenty twenty six. Now, I like
to go to Thailand and Southeast Asia November to early
March because that's when the best weather.

Speaker 1 (01:00:09):
It's just delightful weather.

Speaker 2 (01:00:11):
Sure you're still in the tropics, but it's a great
time to go. So we are going to sail the
Mighty Maykong River, Cambodian Vietnam. You can visit Thailand beforehand
if you want, and we'll set that up on an
individual basis. Anyway, we're going to be sailing from Sien Reap,

(01:00:32):
that is the city of anchor Wat, dating back to
the twelfth century. From the twelfth to fourteenth century, anchor
Wat was the most enlightened educated population on Earth. And
you'll have a chance to see that in a pre
cruise tour of Anchor Wat and the Kimmer Kingdom. And

(01:00:55):
then we're sailing on the Maykong through Cambodia. Yes, we'll
stop in Panna, And I gotta tell you you remember
this story I told a long time ago about having
a group in PanAm Pin. And they have what they
call a cyclo. It's a three wheeled rickshaw with the
two wheels in the back, one in the front, and

(01:01:17):
the person pedaling is in the back and they're peddling
like a bicycle, a tricycle, and you sit in the front. Well,
we get to old town panom Pen. Remember that's French
colonial architecture. The streets tree lined with French architecture. You
could be in Paris, you could be in France, you

(01:01:39):
could be in Provence, but you're in Cambodia.

Speaker 1 (01:01:44):
And so we're going to take.

Speaker 2 (01:01:46):
A cyclo ride through old town past the royal Palace.
Yes they have a king there in Cambodia, and we're
going to make our way through old town French colonial
architect texture. So I got the group there and I've
got arranged for all the cyclothes there and I talked
to the man in charge. I say, now, is it

(01:02:07):
one or two people per cyclone? He looks at the cyclothes.
He then looks at the group. He looks back at
the cyclothes, looks back at the group, looks back at
the cyclothes, looks at me, and says, two Cambodians, one American. Yes,

(01:02:30):
we had been eating very well. Maybe that's did we
go after Thanksgiving? We were feeling anyway, I always remember that.
So we're going to go through Cambodia PanAm Pen and
we will go down to Oudong, which is Cambodia's former
royal capital from the early seventeenth century till eighteen sixty six.

(01:02:55):
And then we crossed the border into Vietnam. And I
told you I just got back less than two weeks ago,
about twelve days ago from Vietnam. What a great the food,
Oh my gosh, the food is so good there. And
we'll do a tuk tuk ride. One of my favorite
stops is Tan Choo, which is an unspoiled area. See

(01:03:19):
what we're doing on the Maykong is Yes, we'll visit
Saigon Ho Chi Min city, but we're going to the backwater.
The village is some of them untouched by tourism, seeing
daily life, and what is really exciting is in Tanchoo

(01:03:41):
is the silk making capital, I think, and the Ratan
met workshops. So we see all of these places, and
then we have an option afterwards to spend a few
days with me in Saigon seeing all of that. The
dates next year are November nine to six, Team twenty
twenty six. Now remember all of your short excursions are included. Beer, wine,

(01:04:06):
soft drinks are included with lunch and dinner, although I
always order my diet coke with a lime for breakfast too.

Speaker 1 (01:04:14):
Yes, I'm a cocaholic. Thank you Kathy, my wife. I
never drank.

Speaker 2 (01:04:18):
Much soda until I fell in love with Kathy, and
she loves diet coke, so I love her. I love
diet coke. Now here's what we did. We bought half
the ship. We own half the ship, and I think
we have only about seven cabins left. But by buying

(01:04:40):
half the ship, our prices are dramatically less. You could
book this cruise directly with Almah Waterways or any other
travel agency in the country, and you're going to pay
the published trait which I'm about to give you. You
booked the same date, the same cruise.

Speaker 1 (01:04:56):
You're with me.

Speaker 2 (01:04:57):
I'll be your personal host and tour guide, and you
pay a much lower price. Now, let me give you
the published rate and the Morris Columbus right now. This
is November nine to sixteen, folks, you don't want to
miss this. On a river cruise down the Maekong River
from Anchor Watt to Saigon. The lead cabin a Category

(01:05:21):
six is the published rate that you pay anywhere else
is forty one forty nine, as in four thousand, four
hundred and forty nine dollars. Now, you do have to
add taxes of two hundred and fifty bucks port taxes.
River cruise companies don't always include them. The Morris Columbus

(01:05:43):
rate for the same cabin is not forty one forty nine,
is twenty nine ninety nine plus the port charges of
two hundred and fifty bucks. You're saving one thousand, one
hundred and fifty dollars per person, or twenty three hundred
bucks for the two of you. Now, I will tell
you that I think there's only about three Category C cabins.

(01:06:09):
I can't tell you if there's any still available. They
tend to go quickly, but that gives you what I
really like are a outside of balcony, and so the
outside balconies. The published rate starts at almost forty nine
hundred dollars for the same cabin. The Columbus Travel Morris

(01:06:32):
Columbus Travel price is thirty five forty nine. That's a
savings of about twenty six hundred dollars per couple.

Speaker 1 (01:06:41):
Well all the time.

Speaker 2 (01:06:43):
All the details are available at Morriscolumbus dot com. Morriscolumbus
dot com. Click on cruises, well you go to Morris
Columbus dot com. You have to scroll down to the
Morris Murdoch Escorted Tours and then click on cruises. Go
to twenty twenty six November. I've got about seven cabins

(01:07:04):
left and we're a year away.

Speaker 1 (01:07:07):
November nine to sixteen.

Speaker 2 (01:07:09):
Join me on the Mighty matalk More when we come
back on the travel ship. Hey do check out the
Morris Columbus website Morris Coolumbus dot com. That's Morriscolumbus dot com.
And if you're interested in one of the Morris Columbus

(01:07:32):
Escorted tours on the homepage, scroll down to Morris Murdoch
Escorted tours. Now the company name is Morris Columbus Travel,
but the brand name for the Morris Columbus escorted tours

(01:07:52):
is Morris Murdoch Escorted Tours. You know, Murdoch Travel has
a law history. They are no more, but they were
the travel company that did all the travel for the
Olds Church. They sent me on a mission a million
years ago as a young nineteen year old, and they

(01:08:14):
merged with Morris Travel quite some years ago. And then
the most recent merger is Morris Murdoch Travel merging with
Columbus Travel Hens. Yeah, it gets a little confusing, Morris
Columbus Travel, but the brand name for the escorted tours

(01:08:36):
is Morris Murdock's. Kind of like General Motors sell Chevrolet.
All right, there's a company name and a brand name.
So on the homepage of Morriscolumbus dot com, scroll down,
I think it's the third item to Morris Murdoch Escorted
Tours and click on that and then check either cruises

(01:08:59):
if you're looking at a cruise program that's hosted by
Morris Columbus Travel, or you click on a geographic destination.
It could be Europe, holy Lands, Asia, Africa, Faith based tourists.
I mean, whatever you're looking for and take a look.

Speaker 1 (01:09:17):
At what is offered now.

Speaker 2 (01:09:19):
I mentioned in the last segment that I'll be hosting
the Maykong River from Anchor Watt, Cambodia to Ho Chi
Minh City we know as Saigon, Vietnam, but it's the backwoods,
the backwater places that are untouched by tourism and you
see authentic lifestyle. I'll be on board, Kathy'll be with me,

(01:09:43):
my lovely wife, and we'd love to have you join me.
As I mentioned, we got seven cabins stuff. We bought
half the ship. We have a wonderful group of travel
show listeners going, but at significant discounts. Rate start subject
to available at just twenty nine ninety nine plus your

(01:10:04):
port taxes where the published trade is forty one forty nine.
That's savings, you know, twenty three hundred dollars a couple,
and you can do some other travel. Maybe you have
some travel that you want to do that Morris Columbus
can set up in Southeast Asia or wherever that you
may want to go.

Speaker 1 (01:10:23):
But do join me.

Speaker 2 (01:10:24):
On the Mekong River November nine to sixteen. We have
a pre cruise option to anchor WATT and a post
cruise option to Sigon. If you're going to be using
the Salt Lake Airport, I recommend parking Jet. It's the
only large or major off airport parking that is locally owned,

(01:10:49):
and they're so nice. As you pull in, do ask
for a free car wash coupon. You have to get
it as you drive into not all the drivers have them,
but they have premium parking, economy parking, covered parking. I
always go for the covered, especially during the winter, but
park wherever you want and I can get you a

(01:11:11):
twenty percent discount at parking Jet. Now, nothing wrong with
these other off airport parking lots, but they're not locally owned.
Do you believe in shopping local?

Speaker 1 (01:11:22):
I sure do.

Speaker 2 (01:11:23):
But I can get a free car wash. They have
detailing services that is an additional cost depending on what
detail you want done. But they pick you up right
at where you park. Now, the on airport parking, nothing
wrong with that, but you're in a big lot and
you have to slap your own bags, particularly through the rain,

(01:11:44):
sleet and snow, to a centralized pickup point. With parking Jet,
they pick you up at your car and drop you're
right there at the front door on the ground level
to get into the airport now twenty percent discount. Go
to Morriscolumbus dot com Morriscolumbus dot com. On the homepage,

(01:12:05):
click on resources, and then just look for the icon
for the Salt Lake parking discount. Why didn't you print
five or six of them? Keep them in your car?
Even better, you want to save some money at Christmas,
give that as the Christmas gift to your family a
parking jet coupon. Hey you remember, Oh, it was must

(01:12:27):
have been a month or so or more ago. We
had one of my favorite people on Earth, Abby Banell,
a well known radio host personality here in Utah. She's
a native of England and she will be hosting an England,
Wales and Scotland Land tour September nine to nineteen next year,

(01:12:50):
twenty twenty six, eleven days, ten nights of actual touring.

Speaker 1 (01:12:56):
Then you had your travel on England, Wales in Scotland.

Speaker 2 (01:13:00):
In taking you to her Wee village where she grew up,
where the town the village celebrates the arrival of the Americans.
You'll see American flags everywhere. Check out the itinerary at
morriscolumbus dot com. Scroll down to Morris Murdoch Escorted Tourist,
Click on Europe and look date wise. September twenty twenty six, England,

(01:13:26):
Wales and Scotland with Abby Panel. Well, that brings us
to the end of another travel show IVY Thanksgiving weekend
and I'll be talking to.

Speaker 1 (01:13:36):
You next week.

Speaker 2 (01:13:37):
I'll be in Disneyland travel show god Less
