Speaker 1 (00:00):
Oh Wicks get away Guru and fresh home from Europe. Yes,
I visited with a wonderful group of travel show listeners Iceland,
the Fjords of Norway. Well, I'll be Amsterdam down to BRUEs, Belgium,
perhaps the most beautiful city in all of Europe, and
then England and London. We've got a great show lined
(00:20):
up for you today. We will be welcoming in this
Tuesday July. Where has a month of June gone? And
of course July fourth we'll be talking about that. The
business development manager from Princess Cruises. Yes, the love boat
will be joining us. And you know a big question
out there right now, folks, is travel safe? Do I
(00:43):
feel okay traveling the world, sailing the seven Seas and
visiting the four corners of the globe? An insider tip
on what is happening in Hawaii? This one will be
a shocker. Don't forget the fall travel Expo. And there
is a new scam that is absolutely hammering people. I'm
(01:04):
going to tell you how to recognize, how to avoid it.
We'll be visiting the castles of Ireland and plan now
for a total eclipse in twenty twenty six and some
very special cruise discounts for military both active and retired,
and for our teachers well. As I mentioned, I just
(01:24):
flew in from London what four days ago on Tuesday,
had a great group, and I would invite any of
our well any of our listeners to call into the show,
but a special invitation to anyone who was with Kathy
and I on our Iceland to London cruise.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
You know.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
We spent a couple of days in Iceland seeing all
the great sites, what a wonderful country, then made two
then jumped on a beautiful cruise ship, the Norwegian Prima,
one of their news ships. Couple of stops in Iceland,
then to Norway, not only the Feords, but we visited
Ulisond and Bergun, two beautiful cities. Then down to Amsterdam
(02:06):
in the Netherlands. Bruges, Belgium, as I said, one of
the most beautiful cities. It was just named by Travel
and Leisure magazine, which is one of the bibles of
travel magazines, as the most photogenic city in all of Europe.
Bruce Belgium, where we were on oh just a few
(02:30):
days ago, a week ago. Today we're in Bruges and
then to Southampton, England and into London for a few days.
You know Samuel Johnson, perhaps Britain's greatest man of letters,
who made a statement that is often credited to Sir
Winston Churchill, but Churchill didn't say it. Samuel Johnson did.
(02:51):
He said, when a man, I would add a woman too.
When a man is tired of London, he is tired
of life. We saw the Changing of the Guard, went
to the Tower of London, saw the Crown Jewels. Later
in the show we'll be talking about that trip. But
anytime during the show, I invite our listeners who were
(03:15):
with me to call into the show and just very
briefly give us a highlight. Maybe it's not your number one,
but a highlight. You can call in at Triple eight
five seven oh eighth one. Oh that's eight eight eight
five seventy eighty ten. Well, as I mentioned, we welcome
(03:35):
July in what three days?
Speaker 3 (03:38):
On Tuesday July? First? Where has the month of June gone?
Speaker 1 (03:42):
And I promise July is going to go very quickly also,
and then July fourth, Independence Day Patriots Day on Friday.
You know, I travel internationally every month, literally every month.
I'll be overseas again in July fact flying back to London.
Got a great group of travel show listeners and we'll
(04:05):
be spending three days in London and then jumping on
a cruise ship with Princess Cruises the Love Boat and
sail the British Isles. We'll be visiting England and Scotland, Ireland,
Northern Ireland, and then over to France. We'll be stopping
in LaHave, France to visit Normandy, the d Day Beaches,
(04:27):
and I will simply tell you that visiting the American
Cemetery will bring tears to your eyes, mostly young men
who gave it all in the defense of freedom, but
just a little you know, I have this emotion every
time I fly back to the United States. It's like
(04:47):
I want to get down and kiss the ground that
I live in this country. And I hope all people
love their country, but I love this country. I love
our flag, I love when it represents and you know,
we're seeing a lot of demonstrations and political dialogue going on.
(05:08):
My kids once asked me where I call a bunch
of folks who I think were crazy but just deriding
the United States, And they said, Dad, doesn't that bother you?
My response was I am so grateful that I live
in a country where people can disagree and can peacefully protest.
(05:31):
I got no use for violent demonstrations. You know, in London,
at Hyde Park there's a area of the park called
Speaker's Corner and you can say anything you want. This
goes back hundreds and hundreds of hundreds of years. It
was kind of the birth of free speech, where you
can get up and say anything, tell the truth, tell
(05:55):
a lie, tell your story, whatever it is, and there
is no era. Yes, there is no prosecution for slander.
You can literally say anything you want. But right now
it's the crazies, I mean the absolute crazies that go
to Speaker's Corner and deride everything, critics and especially the
(06:16):
United States. So I was in there a few years ago.
At speakers Corner, we go for entertainment and heckling and
talk back is encourage. It's part of the whole entertainment.
So someone can be speaking, you can be yelling back
at him, no violence, no physical contact, but say whatever
you want. So this guy was going off on how
(06:36):
awful the United States was and every problem in the
world is the fault of America. I finally spoke up
I couldn't take it any longer, and I shouted out.
I said, say what you want about my country, the
United States of America. Say whatever you want, but you
(06:56):
be grateful for the US, because if it weren't for
the United States, you would be speaking German right now.
And the crowd went absolutely wild. Yeah, you'd be speaking
German right now if it weren't for America. You know,
a little bit of background on our Independence Day, as
we'll celebrate it this coming week. It was on July second,
(07:19):
seventeen seventy six, that the Continental Congress voted in favor
of independence. Remember that date, July second. It was two
days later, on July fourth, that delegates from the thirteen
Colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence, which of course was
drafted by Thomas Jefferson.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
From seventeen seventy six.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
To the present day, July the fourth, that day, this day,
the fourth, has been celebrated as the birth of American
independence and lots of festivities from fireworks to parades, parties, barbecues,
family gatherings. It's also interesting and the initial battles in
the Revolutionary War broke out in April of seventeen seventy
(08:06):
five very few people. Few of the colonists really wanted
complete independence from Great Britain, and those who did were
considered radical. But by the middle of the following year,
seventeen seventy six, many more colonists had come to favor independence,
growing in thanks to the hostility against Britain and the
(08:31):
spread of revolutionary sentiments such as those expressed in the
best selling pamphlet Common Sense, which was published by Thomas
Paine in early seventeen seventy six. George Washington celebrated July
fourth by issuing double rations of rum to all of
(08:51):
his soldiers to mark the anniversary of independence in seventeen
seventy eight, and then in seventeen eighty one, months before
the key American victory at the Battle of Yorktown, Massachusetts
became the first state to make July fourth an official
(09:11):
state holiday. Now may I said, remember July second.
Speaker 4 (09:15):
It was.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
John Adams believed that July second was the correct date
on which to celebrate the birth of American independence, and
would reportedly turn down invitations to appear at July fourth
events in protests. Now Adams and Thomas Jefferson both died
on July fourth, eighteen twenty six. You know some things
(09:40):
that go on. Now, how do you celebrate July fourth? Well,
it was in seventeen seventy seven, was the first year
fireworks were actually used in an official.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
July fourth celebration.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
Congress authorized using fireworks to help mark the first anniversary
of the Declaration of Independence. That was seventeen seventy seven,
and there were an estimated two and a half million
people living in the thirteen colonies on July fourth, seventeen
seventy six. Well, today, sixty one percent of Americans will
(10:15):
attend a July fourth picnic. One hundred and fifty million
hot dogs are consumed each July fourth. Sixty five percent
of Americans say that fireworks are their favorite July fourth activity,
followed by thirty two percent safe and twenty eight percent
saying God to the beach, will more come back? We're
(10:38):
going to hit the seven says with Princess Crusis. You're
listening to the Travel Show and I'm Larry Gelwicks.
Speaker 3 (10:53):
The Getaway Gurrum.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
The travel show is sponsored by Morris Columbus Travel, where
you always travel, And Hey, let's talk to the good
folks at Morris Columbus Travel at their website Morris Coolumbus
dot com, Morriscolumbus dot com, or give them a call
at eight hundred triple nine forty six forty six. That's
eight hundred triple nine forty six forty six. I just
(11:20):
love cruising. There's everything about it. And I'm pleased to
welcome my very good friend Dana mccullob, business development manager
with Princess Cruises. Dana, welcome back to the Travel Show.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
Thank you so much, Larry.
Speaker 5 (11:36):
How are you?
Speaker 4 (11:37):
You know?
Speaker 1 (11:37):
I am doing quite well, but I've got to tell
you I'm I haven't seen it arrive in the mail yet.
I was expecting maybe a medal, an award from Princess
Cruises because this year I am hosting four Princess cruises.
I'm just joking about the medal, of course, but Princess cruises,
(12:01):
why no, No, I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. You
can you can buy me a diet coke and we'll
call it even. But in February we had that wonderful
Sydney to Auckland cruise group.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
In May we had.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
A cruise group all of these I host with Travel
Show listeners to Japan and next week We'll be in
the British Isles with Princess, and then I have a
group going to Alaska in August, and I've.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
Got some Princess lined up for next year. So what
is it?
Speaker 1 (12:35):
I mean, Dana, Princess does such a good job. What
is the appeal of Princess cruises?
Speaker 2 (12:42):
Oh well, my my, my line on that. The appeal
is the product is just fantastic and everybody knows it
because of the love Boat. We've got a huge variety
of food on board. We have the Medallions going on,
which is just next level of cruising. The staff is
always phenomenal, The destinations are amazing. I mean you're doing
(13:06):
four groups. You know. We've got some itinerates that I'm
looking at now for twenty six and twenty seven that
are absolutely phenomenal.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
Send them to me, Danas, send them to me.
Speaker 4 (13:16):
Sure.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
Oh yeah. The draws consistency, I mean, you know what
you're getting when you go on a Princess cruise, and
you will always be happy.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
What I've found with Princess is is a high level
of satisfaction consistency.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
But now I'm a simple man. I got to tell you.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
One of my favorite things about Princess is your pizza.
It is a real pizzeria, always out on the deck.
It's like an eighteen inch You pick up a slice,
no offense to other cruise lines, and they're really good,
but they're pizza sucks, and it is a I think
I'm down in the village in New York or something
(13:58):
picking up a slice. You've got some specials coming up
that are just fantastic.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
Why don't you review those with our listeners.
Speaker 2 (14:07):
Absolutely, we have a special going on right now which
ends on the thirtieth, which is Monday, and it is
up to seven hundred dollars an instant savings in addition
to forty percent off or reduce deposit. That is for
specific voyages. So when you're working with your Morris Columbus advisor,
they can look up the voyage list and make sure
that the voyage you want is on that list.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
Right now, you said, excuse me, you said June thirtieth.
You simply have to book it by Monday. You don't
obviously have to sale, and you can get up to
seven hundred dollars instance discount up to forty percent off
your cruise fare reduced deposits in the course.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
Great pizza, All right? What else you got from pizza?
Speaker 2 (14:49):
So we also are doing a special for the Independence
Day holiday, so that will be July third through July sixth,
and that's a dollar deposit, so that again would have
a specific voyage list. But the cool part about this
is if you want to go to multiple places, you
can make a couple of bookings, make your deposits during
those days, and then decide, like let's say you know,
(15:10):
you go I want to go to the British Isles,
Alaska in Europe. You can make those bookings and it's
a dollar deposit each time, and then you go ahead
and decide later. So that's crazy, really out a bunch
of money.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
So I know, if I understand you, you you don't
have to make a pick a specific date. You could
just put a general deposit or did I misunderstand that?
Speaker 2 (15:34):
No, it would be a specific specific would pick a
specific voyage?
Speaker 3 (15:38):
Very good?
Speaker 1 (15:39):
Hey, you know the Mediterranean is so popular? What do
you got going.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
Down the med.
Speaker 2 (15:46):
So we have an amazing trip called the Grand Mediterranean Odyssey,
which goes October of this year. And the cool part
about this is you can do the full fifty days
or you can split it up into two twenty five days,
so the full fifty days is around tru Fort Lauderdale,
and you're going to say in France, Italy, Montenegro, Croatia, Turkey, Sicily,
(16:07):
I'm all over the place. Or you can split it
up Fort Lauderdale to Athens for twenty five days or
Athens to Fort Lauderdale for twenty five I would say
you the full fifty to the thing we're speaking.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
We're speaking to Dana McCullough, business development manager with Princess Cruises,
and we have about two minutes left. Something I would
like to do someday is a Pacific World cruise. Very
briefly tell me about that. Then I have another question
for you.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
Sure, so that is something I want to do too.
I completely agree with you.
Speaker 3 (16:42):
I see you on BORD.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
You can do that. Absolutely, you can do that in
several different options. And it's called the Grand Circle Pacific
and we have it for twenty six and twenty seven
and it's up to one hundred and twenty nine days
and it's over sixty destinations that you're going to twenty
three world sites, which is amazing. You cross the equator
twice and you're going to three continents. So it's a phenomenal,
(17:07):
phenomenal itinerate and Larry, you could have pizza for three
months every day.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
I would do that now.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
The full cruise, I believe is about one hundred and
twenty nine days. Can you buy segments of it if
you can't be gone for four months?
Speaker 2 (17:21):
Yes? Yes, And on the website there are different segments,
or with your Morris Columbus advisor they can tell you
the different segments. Very common is one hundred and twenty
nine days. Obviously Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles is the
full one one hundred and ten days Los Angeles Vancouver.
There also are some smaller segments that can be done
(17:42):
as well, and your advisor can give you those details.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
We've got about thirty seconds.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
I want you to tell me about the ship, the
Discovery Princess, and then I'll tell you why.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
So I have not been on the Discovery. I'm living
in Arizona. I'm a little landlocked, so I don't get
to see all the vessels. But everybody that has been
on her said she is absolutely stunning. I hope to
get on her soon. You tell me why, I want
to hear me.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
I will be taking a travel Show listeners group next
year twenty twenty six to one of my favorite destinations.
Speaker 3 (18:15):
Alaska, July twelve to nineteen.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
Dana, thank you for joining us on the Travel Show
and go Princess more when we come back. Welcome back
(18:39):
to the Travel Show. I'm Larry Gelwick's the getaway Guru.
Join me here on the Travel Show every weekend at
this time off this very station.
Speaker 3 (18:47):
Wretch that carried by nineteen radio stations.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
And we welcome all of you to the Worst Columbus
Travel Show family. You know, one of the questions that
I get a lot, it's on people's mind, is it
safe to travel. We've even seen some people cancel going
to Mexico to portovartr can Kun for next year because
(19:12):
you know, with the war in Ukraine and Iran situation
and the Gaza, they say they don't feel safe. And
I don't criticize anybody's feelings or emotions, but I've often said,
and if you don't feel safe, don't go. But I've
often said when emotion butts up against reality or facts,
(19:36):
emotion always wins. I get that you don't want to
go on a vacation feeling nervous. About your safety, which means,
you know, stay away from La Seattle, Portland, Baltimore, New York,
and Chicago and other places if you want to stay safe.
Speaker 3 (19:52):
But I think you just have to look it out.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
And if you're looking at traveling over a great website
I've told you about this before is travel dot State
dot gov. Travel dot state dot gov. Now on the
home page, click on find international travel Information. You click
on that, and then on the follow up page over
(20:19):
on the right hand side, you'll type in the country.
You can do one country at a time. I mean,
you can end up doing all countries you want. But
you type in one country at a time, a little
drop down menu comes you click on that country and
a wealth of information comes up, including health advisories, currency exchange,
(20:40):
visa requirements, passport validity, consulate general embassy contacts. There's even
information there about adopting overseas children. There's information for LBGTQ travelers.
I mean, there really is a lot of info, but
one of the most important is safety in health and
(21:01):
the US State Department, which maintains the website, will rate
countries one, two, three, and four one. I'm always exercised caution,
even to a number one, But a number one would
be like New Zealand, Fiji, Thailand, Australia, Tahiti, just a
(21:21):
lot of countries that you know, always exercise good sense,
don't be stupid. As I've told before, there's no law
against stupid, but there are consequences of stupid, so don't
be stupid. A Number two is you know you're really
okay to go, just exercise a little bit more caution.
(21:42):
This is most of Western Europe. A Level three is
well reconsider it. Do you really need to go? Maybe
postpone the trip, but if you have to go, and
then you have to go. Number four is are you
out of your ever love and mind to even think
(22:03):
about going. That's a level four And out of the
sum two hundred plus countries in the world today, only
nineteen appear on the do.
Speaker 3 (22:15):
Not travel list.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
It may be for crime, civil unrest, terrorism, a war,
many common risk factors for countries to end up on
the state departments do not travel list. Now I'm just
going to tell you it's only like nineteen out of
two hundred. I'm just going to name the countries that
right now are level four and you're gonna laugh because
(22:39):
who would he ever consider going to these places. Afghanistan.
Now there's a place I want to spend my summer holidays. Afghanistan. Belarus,
which is a It shares a western border with Russia
and a southern border with Ukraine. Now there's a great
place to go. Bukina Faso. We never heard of that.
(23:00):
It's a West African nation that has all sorts of
terror attacks. The Central African Republic, me and mar formerly
known as Burma, Israel, and the Gaza, with emphasis on
the Gaza. I would not recommend a Holy Land tour
right now. I hope we're back this fall, you know,
(23:22):
with the ceasefire there, but no Gaza is on the list.
Now there's a shocker. Haiti.
Speaker 3 (23:31):
How about this one? Iran?
Speaker 1 (23:33):
Do you do you know anybody who wants to go
to a bunker buster party in Iran? I don't Iraq, Libya, Mali,
that's a West African landlocked nation. I've actually been to
Mali and probably the only person you know that's ever
has been there. Now, Mexico has thirty two states, six
(23:58):
are Level four.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
And you want to stay away from those?
Speaker 1 (24:05):
Do I have any concerns about Puerto Vayarta or Cabo
or Cancun. Personally, no, I would take my family. I
take my grandkids there. But I wouldn't go to these
six states, including Sineloa and some of the others. North Korea, No,
(24:25):
I wouldn't go there, although I am one, perhaps the
only person you know that has actually been to North Korea.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
Yeah, I've stepped foot in North Korea. That was a
long time ago.
Speaker 1 (24:36):
Russia, Somalia, the South Sudan and Sudan, Syria. I've been
to Syria, the Ukraine, Venezuela. Yeah, I've been there too,
and Yemen. So you know, you just want to use
your good sense. Don't overreact look into it. If it's
a level four country, no, don't go. There's so many
(25:00):
wonderful places. And let me tell you about a couple
of places that I love. Let's start with Hawaii. Now
this is a real number. I don't say this to
pat myself on the back, just you know, if it's true,
it ain't bragging. I have been to Hawaii one hundred
and seventy times. That's a true number. My very first
(25:20):
trip I was sixteen. I was a surfer boy growing
up in California on the coast there and I went
surfing in Hawaii and had a just a grand time,
fell in love with it.
Speaker 3 (25:34):
If I'm over in.
Speaker 1 (25:35):
Hawaii and I visit the islands of o Wahu Maui
in Kawaii, that's not three trips, that's one trip. The
shortest trip I ever took to Hawaii, and I was
just beaten myself to death because I wasn't staying was
five hours. I had a reception, one of those receptions
that you have to go to. I landed at Honolulu
(25:56):
on Delta Airlines at about five pm. This before the NonStop,
so I had to change planes on the West coast,
and I you know, I dressed in shorts and flip
flops and all that, but I had a garment bag
with me, and I ducked into the men's room at
the airport and put on really nice clothes to go
to this reception. Went to the reception, wished everybody well,
(26:19):
went back to the airport, put my flip flops and
shorts and T shirt back on, and flew home.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
At ten o'clock.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
I was in Hawaii five hours, and I remember taking
off and seeing the lights of Waikiki below me, thinking
Gilwick's you're an idiot.
Speaker 3 (26:37):
Why didn't you stay a few days? But I couldn't.
Speaker 1 (26:39):
Actually had a meeting the next day back in Salt
Lake City. Well, did you know there are one hundred
and fifty two islands and atolls in Hawaii, But there
are eight major islands. Seven are populated, two or excuse me,
one is uninhabited. Can you name the eight major islands
where it is? Say, well, let's start with the easy ones.
(27:01):
O Wahu, Maui, Kawaii, Molokai, the big island, now Lenai.
Now here comes the last two. How about Kaho Lave.
It's uninhabited. It was a bombing range even through World
War two and even up to the Vietnam conflict, but
(27:23):
no bombs going off that. But there are unexploded bombs
or ordinances on the island, so nobody goes there unless
you want to get bombed. But that's another way to
get bombed. Then Nihihau, the so called forbidden island, and
I've talked about this.
Speaker 3 (27:41):
Before.
Speaker 1 (27:42):
It's a private island where the Hawaiian language is the
first language. There's no electricity, no paved roads. There are
solar panels on the school, but it's a small population
and they lived kind of like they must have fifty
(28:04):
sixty seventy years ago. But Hawaiian is the first language
I remember when Hawaii became the fiftieth state. Yeah, I'm
that old. August twentieth, nineteen fifty eight. The very first
European to set foot you can't say discover Hawaii because
there were indigenous people living there, was Captain James Cook.
(28:26):
It was on January eighteenth, seventeen seventy eight. He sailed
right past Owahu and landed two days later at Waya Maya, Kawaii.
He then named the Hawaiian group the Sandwich Islands, named
after John Montague, the fourth Earl of Sandwich back in England,
(28:50):
who was his mentor and financier. So he named him
after John Montague, the Earl of Sandwich. Did you know
that pineapple is not native Hawaii? Neither is coconut. Both
were brought by well, the pineapple probably by the Portuguese,
but the coconuts by the early settlers who came in
the ninth and the fourteenth century, were the two waves
(29:13):
for that. Well, here is what's happening in Hawaii right now.
You know, summertime is peak season for Waii. Really June
through August. But the month of June, which is almost
over in a couple of days, has shown a decrease
in the daily passenger counts compared to last year, and
(29:34):
it mirrors what the Hawaii tourism industry believe. It's going
to be a slower summer with less travelers and fewer bookings.
Hawaii has gotten flat out expensive and a lot of
people are saying, I'm looking elsewhere. You know, the two
best travel values are Mexico all inclusive resorts and I
got some fantastic deals for you and cruises. You cannot
(29:58):
beat the value of a RUS. But because tourism is down,
I have found and our staff at Morris Columbus has
found some pretty good deals. I'll give you just one
in Waikiki Beach, Honolulu, a four star first class hotel
at the Romerhouse Waikiki. That's rom E r House Waikiki
(30:21):
Hotel's a four star hotel. It's situated between the Ali
Yknel and Waikiki Beach, so you're a couple a few
blocks off the beach right there.
Speaker 4 (30:31):
Now.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
Rates vary by departure date, are subject to change and availability.
I was looking at September fourth to the sixth, six days,
five nights. You can certainly add on to that, but
on this one, including air, hotel and taxis nine hundred
and sixty bucks per person nine to sixty. I mean,
that's absolutely insane for what the prices have been. There's
(30:56):
some good rates on the deluxe five star hotels and
and you know, Mexico is another place we.
Speaker 3 (31:03):
Need to be looking at when we come back.
Speaker 1 (31:05):
I have got a some Mexico specials and two crew
specials that will explode your brain like.
Speaker 3 (31:13):
Nothing that you've ever seen before with free airfare.
Speaker 6 (31:17):
Here on the Travel show.
Speaker 3 (31:30):
We're talking travel today, I'll get travel show.
Speaker 1 (31:32):
I'm Larry Gelwicks to get away do room the travel
shows sponsored by Morris Columbus Travel.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
We're Young, Hollis, Travel More and payless key.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
Look at their website Morris Columbus dot com. That's Morris
Columbus dot Give them a call a.
Speaker 3 (31:48):
Triple ninety six forty six.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
You know, just before we took that break, I was
mentioning that Hawaii really did get expensive, but I think
we're seeing some p ice stability in the market. I
mentioned a four star first class hotel, the Roamerhouse, Waikiki Resort.
I looked at some September dates. Nine hundred and sixty bucks.
(32:12):
That's air, hotel and taxes. What's not included are the
resort fees, which have to be collected right at the hotel.
There are no additional resort fees. If you're headed to
sunny Mexico. Here's just two examples. Cancun a four star
first class at the Catalonia Yucatan Beach all inclusive. That's
(32:33):
air beach resort. The transfers round trip from the airport
to the hotel, all your meals, all your drinks, you've
got activities. Even the tips, gratuities and taxes are included. Now,
I just looked at arbitrary dates, as looking at late September.
I looked at the twenty fifth of the thirtieth against
(32:53):
six days, five nights.
Speaker 3 (32:55):
You can go for longer or shorter if you want.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
Nine hundred and thirteen dollars For Cankun and Porto Wyata.
I looked at August the seventh to the twelfth. You
can get there before the fall starts. Nine hundred and
forty six dollars. Now keep in mind that all prices, rates,
terms and conditions are subject to availability and change at
(33:18):
the time of booking. Those are the prices that we
have today. Now I promised you a couple super duper
cruise deals. This is this first one is not a
group cruise. You would go individually. But listen to this.
You say it's this year. By the way, in October,
you sail from Honolulu, so you're going to fly to Honolulu.
(33:42):
You will visit Hawaii, Alaska and Canada. You're going to
visit the Hawaiian Islands, You're going to sail to Alaska,
and you're visiting Juno and Skagway and Icy Straits, visit
Alaska and then down to Vancouver, Canada, British Columbia. It's
(34:06):
a sixteen day excuse me, seventeen day cruise August first
to the seventeenth, So it's like two and a half
weeks perfect October one to the seventeenth this year with
Norwegian Cruise Line. Now what makes this extraordinary is we've
talked before about the Norwegian Cruise Line free airfare promotion
on just about all their cruises of three days or more,
(34:28):
and certainly here it's really a bogo bogo, buy one,
get one where the first person pays a discounted airfare
and the second person flies absolutely free. That would be
over to Honolulu and home from Vancouver. Now, the one
thing you have to understand of this promotion is if
(34:50):
you take it, you're going to get a free airline
ticket for the second passenger in a discount for the
first one. But you don't pick the airline. Norwegian Cruise
We'll put you there on of course, a certified major airline.
They picked the airline, the flight times, all of that.
They promised to get you there on the right day
and bring you home. Now, with the air promotion with
(35:13):
Norwegian Cruise Lines, you can fly and get on the
ship that very day, or go one or two days early,
or come home one or two days late, or just
fly home the day you get off the boat. And
if you're going to go to Hawaii, why not go
a couple of days early, enjoy Honolulu, enjoy Waikiki, and
(35:34):
then jump on the ship. Can you imagine cruising Hawaii,
Alaska and Canada rate start, including all taxes and fees
for a seventeen I guess it's a seventeen day cruise,
just sixteen oh one. Now put that into perspective, if
(35:55):
you were to cut that in half, this is this
is a two and a half week cruise, but six'
teen oh one for an inside cabin and ocean view currently.
Speaker 3 (36:04):
Is just sixteen sixty.
Speaker 1 (36:05):
Eight about another what sixty seven dollars to go from
an inside cabin to an ocean view with a porthole
or pitcher window balconies are just twenty six oh. Eight
now these rates are per person based upon two in a.
Speaker 3 (36:21):
Room this is just a great One.
Speaker 1 (36:24):
October, One october one to the seventeenth this year aboard

The Salt Lake event has over one hundred travel, vendors
again with hourly price. Giveaways mark The fall date on your. Calendar,
Saturday october eighteenth at The Davis Conference center In. Leyton last,
(41:23):
HOUR i mentioned that there are so many travel scams out.
There you've won a free, vacation a phony call to
your hotel. Room, oh we have to verify your credit card,
number and we're the front.
Speaker 3 (41:38):
Desk they're not they're.
Speaker 1 (41:39):
Scammers here is one of the most common travel. Scams
it deals with mostly well with cruises and airline. Tickets
you've booked your, ticket you've booked your, cruise but you
want to ask a question or you want to add.
(41:59):
Something you want to add a shore, excursion and so
you go On google and Put i'll just call it
x Y Z cruises and a number comes. Up you
call that. Number they answered as x Y z and they, say, oh,
yes we see your. Reservation now these are. Scammers they
don't see. Anything oh because you you know what day
(42:22):
are you leaving and they got all your. Details you, say,
well this just happened to one of our clients a
week or two. Ago she decided she wanted to add
some something on her, reservation a shore excursion or, transfer
and they, said, oh, yes but the and that'll be you,
(42:42):
know one hundred. Bucks, oh the port charges and taxes
have changed let's take care of. It, now what credit
card you want to put it? On now you think
you're speaking TO x Y z Cruise, lines but it's a.
Scammer they simply have they have bought a. Position so
here's what you want to. Do when you want to
(43:04):
make talk to your cruise line and Then i'll get to.
Airlines call your travel advisor and verify the. Number, Now
Royal caribbean is doing something where you can set up
a one word password that only you and your travel advisor,
know and so anytime you talk you have to give
(43:26):
this password to protect. You i'm telling you thousands of
people are getting. Scammed they go online and simply say
look UP Xyz cruises and a website pops. Up it
has the cruise line logo and it looks. Legit it's.
Not it's a, scam and so you want to look
for the official. Site but talk to your travel. Advisor.
(43:50):
Now the airline scam Is i'll give you an. Example Singapore,
airlines one of the great airlines in the, world had
a number and they changed numbers and it was an
eight hundred, number and another scammer bought that number and
then bought a position online so when you Googled Singapore
(44:13):
airlines it came. Up it had their. Logo it's all of.
This you think it's, legit but it. With the scammers
were using the old telephone, number and people, say Well
i'd like to change the. Date, fine that'll be another
two hundred dollars, here put it on this. Card they
don't do, anything and then they start hitting your card
for all sorts of. Purchases now that was they bought
(44:35):
an old telephone. Number scammers also just get a toll
free number and Say I'm Delta, Airlines I'm United. Airlines
buy a top sponsored position On google or something, else
and scam. People always if you're going To Google google
official site and look at the website for, Examp delta
(45:01):
is Simply delta dot. Com it's not Fly, delta it's
Not delta dot Com Flash, reservations It's delta dot.
Speaker 3 (45:09):
Com so just be very very.
Speaker 1 (45:11):
Careful there are so many scams out there right. Now
now here's something for you big. Spenders sometimes people have,
said can you highlight some luxury you, know, cruises luxury,
vacations which we have done for you big. SPENDERS i
(45:33):
have got one for. You when you think of luxury,
cruises you probably imagine fine gourmet, dining personalized, service perhaps a, butler,
sunset views from a private suite on the, ship fine
wines on, demand a world spanning. Itinerary AM i painting
(45:54):
a nice picture for? You one of the great luxury
cruise lines Is regent Seven Sees. Cruises it's taking things
up a notch With it's an announcement of world's most
expensive cruise. Ever all, right this is twenty twenty, seven
The World, Splendor world Of Splendor. Voids it's one hundred
(46:16):
and forty day. Cruise now you can buy segments of it.
Too but let's go to the. Top let's say you're
going for one hundred and forty days and you want
the ultimate. Suite by this ultimate, suite The regent's. Suite
this is bigger than your. House it's four, thousand four
hundred and forty three square. Feet now think about. That
(46:41):
it's bigger than your. House, well it goes based on
two people sharing the same. Suite it goes for eight
hundred and forty thousand dollars per. Person that's a million
seven per couple for.
Speaker 3 (46:57):
This now you.
Speaker 1 (46:58):
Wanted, luxury wanted something Big i've given you something bigs
well for. You cheap skates out. There if you just
want to take a regular suite now you can get
by for ninety one thousand dollars a. Person you, know
that's a little rich for my, budget but it's, yeah
(47:20):
it's pretty good.
Speaker 3 (47:21):
There hey.
Speaker 1 (47:23):
Listen Mark falmo is hosting an Incredible castles Of Ireland

Speaker 1 (48:26):
Coast that Is October september twenty sixth To october, third
The castles Of Ireland Mark falmo will be your personal
host and tour. Guide, now when we come, BACK i
want to tell you in a most respectful way of
(48:47):
the big problem that is being Called Jack Bridge jesus
to The southwest as.
Speaker 3 (49:03):
Welcome back to The Travel.
Speaker 1 (49:04):
Show I'm Larry, gelwicks The Getaway gourlu and i just
got in From europe this past week And i'll be
sailing again The British, isles flying out To london in
the next month Of. July The travel show is sponsored
By Morris Columbus, travel winner of The best Of state
for five years in a row and named By Mark
(49:28):
travel and the one of the largest travel companies in
the world as one of the top ten travel agencies
in The United. States let's talk about a problem That
southwest Air, Well Southwest airlines having all sorts of, problems
but the one we're going to talk about is the
airline is taking unneeded delays on flights because customers are
(49:56):
asking for wheelchair. Assistance, now don't misunderstand. Me if one
needs a, Wheelchair i'm all in favor of. It but
Remember southwest does not have assigned seats and you have
AN abcd. Boarding but those who need preboarding wheel including,
wheelchairs they get on first and you can pick any
(50:19):
seats you want for. Free others have paid to be
in the first boarding. Group southwest does not have a
rule currently against saving. Seats you can actually save up
to thirteen seats prob'ly putting coats and, bags and all
your friends back in the category at the back of
the line are getting the best premier seats On southwest.
(50:43):
Airlines let me give you an. Example there was a
flight From baltimore To.
Speaker 3 (50:49):
Fort.
Speaker 1 (50:50):
Lauderdale there were thirty pre board wheelchairs thirty so they
get moved to the front of the. Line they get
the best seats before everybody. Else twenty eight of the
thirty when they arrived In Fort lauderdale got up and walked,
off just walked. Off there was a recent flight From
(51:13):
Puerto rico back back To baltimore that had fifty five pre,
boards including twenty five, wheelchairs and of the twenty five,
wheelchairs all but one person got up and walked. Off
(51:35):
Now southwest pays about thirty dollars per person to the
airport services for a. Wheelchair it's not. Free it's free
to the, passenger but not free to the. Airline it
cost them about thirty.
Speaker 3 (51:50):
Bucks.
Speaker 1 (51:50):
Ahead there's another flight just recently From Las vegas To
san jase and the sheer. Number now the somehow they're
miraculously healed in. Flight they couldn't. Walk they had to
have a wheelchair to get on the plane and get
the best seats in the house at the front at no.
(52:11):
Charge others paid to be in the first book boarding,
group and then they just get up and walked.
Speaker 3 (52:17):
Off and so as they walk.
Speaker 1 (52:18):
Off a, nickname the jet bridge is that walkway from
the terminal to the plane has now been nicknamed With
Southwest airlines as Jet. Bridge, jesus that's the nickname that
has been given to These now what do you think about?
THIS i mean it's a. Scam now this problem will
(52:39):
be solved early twenty twenty six When southwest does away
with open seating and goes to assign. SEATING i think
they'll see a dramatic decrease in the number of.
Speaker 3 (52:56):
Preboards you.
Speaker 1 (52:57):
Know one of the things that bothers me, with you,
Know Delta American. UNITED i don't know how they get around,
this but they always have preboarding for those who need
a little extra time and. Assistance i'm all for. That
i'm all for people who legitimately need a, wheelchair go
right in front of. Me you deserve, It but not the,
(53:17):
scammers but those who need a little extra. Time usually
that's someone you, know elderly people or mothers with mothers
and fathers with young. Children i'm all for, That BUT
i see so many, people and Perhaps i'm being, judgmental
that seem perfectly. Healthy they usually have extra carry ons
(53:39):
and they want the overhead.
Speaker 3 (53:41):
Space so they, just in my.
Speaker 1 (53:43):
View scam it and get on and they don't really
need extra, time but they want to get on, boards
get in their assigned, seat and make sure they have
the overhead. Space so what do you think about? That
what do you think about Jet? Bridge jesus to, me
it's just a horrible. Scam people ask me what is
(54:04):
The hot cellar and? Travel right? NOW i mention all
inclusives In. Mexico Red hot such a good value with,
everything including and. Cruises one of the most popular cruises
we're seeing At Morris Columbus travel Is i'll be hosting

The aloha. Spirit we're gonna be sailing From tahiti To

Hawaii it's a great it's a great value for this

taxes and fees for an interior cabin at just nineteen oh.
Nine now that's about nine hundred and fifty bucks a.

(55:50):
beauty of the. World and by the, way we stop

took the. Name but the NEW Lds temple is also
there and you can visit where that will be. Built
this includes the free air excuse, me the free airfare
