Speaker 1 (00:00):
I don't know how would you describe the programs A
bunch of guys hanging out.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Let's sell dude stuff. I like dude stuff.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
You're listening for the Rob Gibble Show.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Back here live at Murphy's Puppin's Forest Bar in Manchester.
We got plenty of tickets f iu yukon three point
thirty kickoff tomorrow. You want to go to the game,
come down here. See my friends Jordan and Alec. They're
sitting at the Fox Sports table. They're just taking your name,
putting it in the system. They're running in to our
friend Eric, who's got the tickets in this computer. By
blah bl la la la la la la. Pops up

(00:33):
on your phone. You got your tickets before you even
walk out the door, Manchester, Murphy's Pub. Be here. We
got so many tickets. I thought they were going to
run out. I dare you, I dare you listeners to
take all our tickets. I doubt it. I think we
have such a huge pilot tickets. Bob, I don't think
we're ever going to run out.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Well, get your butts down here and get some tickets.
It's gonna beautiful day tomorrow, come weekend. It's also crucial
Catch weekend, which means it's it's the cancer game for
the Husky So there were the ribbon of remember that.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Yeah, I gets to they're on.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Their ribbon depending on what kind of cancer affects you, friends, family,
whatever it is with the Husky dog logo. So yeah,
it's it's a big day and it's homecoming week.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
I know our Yankee is going to be blocked out
of the iHeartRadio app, but we're going to have it
on fourteen ten am uh one hundred point nine FM,
which I do believe that signal gets to the rent.
But if you can go old school tomorrow, I would
love to see the gentleman who's going old school with
the headphones listening to the Yankees game while they're at

(01:36):
the Yukon football game. So I'll tell your funny story.
You've done this nineteen eighty six, love it.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
I knew you had Whaler's Flames opening day night.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
So you got to be there. You're working at Whale No.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
I I wasn't even working for the Whalers yet.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
I was a fan, okay, and I had the.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Little transition listening to Red Sox Angels in the American
League Championship Series.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
I wish Michelle with you on this trip. We were
not married yet. It's probably very My friend Greg and
my friend Matt were your friend Greg and Matt doing
Were they trying to talk to you? And you were
just okay?

Speaker 3 (02:06):
So everybody up to date, did you.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Go one ear? Yes, and then listening to the rest
of the action with the other ear. That's what I'm
talking about. We get a couple of those guys' day,
so we got tickets for you come on out here.
We lost another one today, Bob. It wasn't the first
time that we've had a major recruit from this area,
not select Yukon abdu Tory tells the world today he
will be going to Arkansas. His quote this afternoon was

(02:33):
that it's going to be something different and also quote
coach Calipari gets guys to the NBA. Now, we lost
Cooper Flag a couple of years ago to Duke John Shire,
the coach of Duke, which, by the way, they just
gave a five year extension to. I can't Cooper Flag
as being local. He was from Maine. It's New England.

(02:56):
I guess you could put on that. Diamon Klingon's mom
and his mom played basketball together. I thought that this was,
you know, a foregone conclusion. Cooper Flag is going to
be coming to Yukon and then all of a sudden,
ball drops and he's going to Duke.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
It's all about the Benjamins.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
Now I'm wondering about that, like is it all about
the Benjamins? And if it is, I don't blame these
kids whatsoever. I don't like if it's close, if we're talking,
you know, Yukon offered five hundred thousand, Arkansas offered five
hundred and fifty thousand. To me, that's the same. It's

(03:32):
really the fifty thousand dollars, I'd sacrifice that from going
to the program that I want to go to. I
think it's a lot different than that. And I don't know,
I'm speculating here of what the real numbers are and
what the real reasons are. Cooper Flag and Abdu Torre
do not pick Yukon. I have to think it's a
lot to do with money, or at least that's a

(03:52):
top three factor. And I have to think, Bob that
these schools Duke, Arkansas, Duke. You can put them in
the ACC or not. They're a private university that's going
to spend everything they need to spend for their basketball team. Arkansas,
they're in the SEC. They get a ninety million dollar
check for just existing. They've spent a lot of money

(04:12):
over the last couple of years. Cal Pari himself, bringing
cal Pari over from Kentucky was a huge investment for
this basketball program. And I'm not trying to say Yukon
doesn't invest in their basketball program, as I would say
their men's basketball program is top dog, top of the
list as far as where money is going to be
spent on campus. I just think this is another example

(04:34):
of us getting outspent Yukon that is getting outspent by
SEC schools and ACC schools somehow, some way. This time,
once again it's one of our local kids not coming
to the school.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
Let's see here, six can make a product.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Chris John Calipari's razorbacks or Province and Yukon, the latter
of which offered him a massive nil deal that he declined.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
According to a gentleman by the name.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Of Rob r who is how much did Arkansas? You
can't tell me that Yukon offered him a massive one?
And he said, nah, I'm going to take a lesser
deal at Arkansas. Maybe no way, There's no way. Yeah,
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
I'm trying to try to find out if there's any
number of totals in there.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
But I think it is interesting to know not only
from I do it, but also Cooper of like some
reasons of why they chose and something else. Well, you
may never.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
Get that in Yukon, Duke, in far and hoops, you
can't go wrong either way from you kind Duke, if
we're just.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
That, and I would say Yukon Arkansas, you can't. I
would if I'm just talking basketball here and I'm just
talking your progression in the sport. I want you to
play for coach Hurley. I want you to play for
this team that's been doing it a certain kind of way.
He has put guys in the NBA. In fact, you know,
regular the year I there's a bunch of guys kind

(05:51):
of have been named in the last couple of years
in that first round of the draft. I wish I'd
do the best. I just I want to know some
more of these answers because I fear that Yukon is
not in the same realm of some of these schools.
When it comes to money being offered.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Yeah, good question, and how you kind of has to
use it. But when you have that conference backing in
the TV contracts right the SEC and the Big ten have,
it's hard to car to compete with them. You But
also if you're going to come here to play for Dan,
you know he's maniacal and you know you know what
you're getting very It's a very different culture.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
Here and you really.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
Have to buy into it.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
I mean, the results speak for themselves over the last decade,
over the last five years with Dan, But you've got
to be a certain mindset to want to come here
and really get after it because they get.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
After you, but you also paid. It also pays off
at the end.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
So I've got a lot of friends out Wes that
are involved in basketball and know the recruiting circuits and
texted me yesterday what kind of bag did you give
Junior County to end it him at a Yukon Because
that was a big for coach Hurley in the last
forty eight hours. Junior County, Junior nickname, County, last name.

(07:08):
I've watched him on film now for the last twenty
four hours, seen a bunch of you know, I'm getting
a lot of AAU highlights. I'm not getting full game
film reminds me of Solo ball. Jumps off the screen
at Solo Ball, and like Solo Ball, I didn't see
many defensive highlights out there. Now, Solo got better at
the end of the year last year, But Solo can
be a liability sometimes when it's that style of chest

(07:29):
to chess man up defense full court. This kid, though,
likes Solo, can shoot the lights out anywhere on the court,
spot up, dribble, square shoulders, picture perfect shooting form, just
like Solo. I think Junior County is going to be
hanging out the three point line and people at PBA
are going to fall in love with him when he
knocks down Big three.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
It should be you know what.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
And this class he's got in, he's got some size
with this class. I mean, I'm excited to see what
the kid from Australia can do in Australia, New Zealand,
in Australia, Australia. Yeah, they got a good class coming
in and it's gonna be fun to watch.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
The other person I wanted to talk to you specifically
about we talked a little bit about. Now you said Bianca,
but I think it's blanco blanca. Yes, blanco lanca. Now
it's that's. I say that because it's been pronounced a
bunch of different ways. There's Blanca casita as well. Before
she went to Italy. When she was playing in the
Italy leagues, they just called her Blanca blanca. Keyonez is

(08:29):
six to two, listed as a forward here, but played
a lot of guard as well. And like she runs
the flour so well, and you brought this up. This
is picture perfect for Gino's transition offense.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
Yeah, the way she gets out on the wings and
can do that. He's he's excited to have her on board. Yeah,
I mean, and you can't say enough about the international
experience that.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
She has at the pro level. Yeah it's Italy, it
may not be.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
These gyms are packed. Yeah, these players are six to
two and above. Like she's playing amongst people that are
big as her. She's faster than people in the court.
Her basketball IQ's better than everybody on the court. But
I wonder about that as well, with especially our international
NBA players. But watching these games that I saw Blanca in,
this is real deal basketball man, no pushover people that

(09:16):
she's playing again.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
Now, if you're playing in Europe here, it's a kind
of a it's a physical game. It's more physical than
it is here. Yeah, but I think she'll flourish here.
She'll be a big part of this of this rotation
for Yukon. They brought in a couple Kellis Fisher, I'm sorry,
Kalise Fisher is freshman guard.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
You know she'll back up.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
And then they brought in a couple of transfers, Kaylie Heckel.
You know, I'm gonna be intrigued to see how Kaylee
fits into the role at Yukon Wisconsin. No, that's Sarah.
That's Sarah Williams. Where was els was that usc U? Right,
she's a New York girl, She's a New York state girls.
Was she on the team that beat us at the

(09:57):
EXL And she was also on the team that we
beat and Spokane we got out?

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Juju wat we got back.

Speaker 1 (10:03):
And if anyone is shocked that Juju is not gonna
play this year, don't be. I mean she injured her
knee and march so there's no reason to rush backs.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
Sucks. Yeah, it does suck for the game.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
And by the way, Yukon USC we go to LA
this year, we go to the Galen Center January December thirteenth,
five thirty.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
Cool.

Speaker 1 (10:22):
All the TV schedules came out this week. And one
thing that you all better get used to with all
this package, men and women, there are so many platforms
that these games are on. You your head's gonna spin, especially
the women's fan. I mean, the women's fan had it
relatively easy. If the game wasn't on SNY, it was
either on ESPN or Fox.

Speaker 3 (10:40):
Well that's not the case this year. It's all over
the place.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
Hear that, Kurt All It's more channels, good buy, So
you know you're gonna have to get peacock. I've seen
some True TV. I've seen some TNT. I think there's
even a game on it. I know men's games are
on NBC. I don't think the women are, but yeah,
they're all over the place. You cut women's fans on TV,
their heads are going to be spinning. Where are our

(11:02):
girls playing? But you know whats You know where? There's
one place you can find it all the time, right here.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
On this radio. And to say, put on like a
sleeping mask and put on some headphones and listen to
the sweet sweet sounds of Bob Joyce and Debbie Fisk
all season long. Now Blanca she's there this year. She's
a freshman. She's ready to play junior counties. Coming next
year for the men's team. Abdu, Maybe we get a
transfer in a couple of years, my man, but he's
going to be going to Arkansas. Now, you're going to Germany, right?

(11:30):
So you said right after Halloween or during the Halloween
time Halloween to be in Germany on Halloween.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
No, No, we fly out. I think it's a late
afternoon Halloween flight. We get into Frankfurt, like at five
point thirty.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
In the morning on November first. All right, what are
you expecting here? Who are we playing? What's way in Louisville?
Why are we doing? All right?

Speaker 1 (11:49):
They're playing at Ramsdeen Air Force Base in Germany. The
guys played there in twenty twelve. It was Kevin Allie's
first game. They played Michigan State and they beat him
something like that. So they're gonna play in front of
an air be all air force people. The Armed Forces
is classic, is what they're calling it. And I guess
they've done it for the men for a while. This
might be the first women's game that they've played out there,

(12:12):
and I guess they've talked about it for a number
of years. But the team is staying on the base
the entire time. And it's an active military base with
everything going on in the world, right, so if they're
on the base, they can't leave. We're staying, just staying
off base. So they're gonna turn around for a few days.
We might do a little sight seeing, you know ourselves.
You know you're in Germany. It'll be be the right

(12:34):
thing to do. But also I'll be paying attention to
the football game on the first right while getting sleeping.
But the game, and I think if I remember right,
the game will be played at midnight local times Great Germany.
It'll be a late night in Germany, so which equates
to I think there's six or seven hours, so it'll

(12:54):
be like five six o'clock.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
Interesting Eastern time that will play this game.

Speaker 2 (12:59):
Interesting, Okay, I can't wait for that
