Speaker 1 (00:09):
Astros fans cheers, rocking Luckey.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Welcome to the Crawford Bucks Cast, Houston Astros.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
Proudly poured for you by Crawford. Back from Carmack Brewey.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
You're getting down bear, Oh my goodness.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
The Crawford Bucks Cast starts.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
Now here we go.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Here's Chris Gordy and Ross viareal.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
To two again, and that's a ground ball up the middle.
Diving per Domo can't get it.

Speaker 4 (00:42):
It's in the center for a facin around third short
he will score in the third base coast Tramel. Christian
Walker comes through against his former club and the Astros
lead four to three, and.

Speaker 5 (00:54):
A very excited Vince Christian Walker clapping his hands, popping
his fist toward his team's dugout one of his biggest
hits of the year right there, right there, and it
comes against Arizona.

Speaker 6 (01:07):
Right that.

Speaker 7 (01:12):
We are live from Carbock Brewing here.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Pizza and piz and pints, yes.

Speaker 8 (01:18):
Inside the pizza place right here at Carbock Brewing, Ross
Virile and myself and it's a live edition of a
tenth inning show slash Crawford Box cast and Ross and
I are hanging out here watching the game, Yes, and
join a Crawford Bach and had the delicious pizza, had
some delicious pizza, had some great camaraderie in fun with
the folks here, and then had a little technical staff

(01:40):
of this.

Speaker 7 (01:40):
So we seem to have gotten that figured out.

Speaker 8 (01:41):
Now we are back on the air and good to go,
and we're with you guys for the next hour taking
your phone calls reacting to the game that was. As
you're Houston Astros, let's just call it a miracle. Ross
pulled off a miracle today in winning with that lineup.
Any lineup that starts with Taylor Tremmel and Victor Kartini
didn't have that on my Bengo card back at West

(02:02):
Palm in February, going, you know, Ross, mid July, We're
late July. We're gonna have a game where Taylor Trebelle
and Victor Carrottini bat one and two.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Yeah. The beauty of baseball is that you can be
the best team one through nine with the best pitcher
and lose. And you can also be Joe Aspatta who's
punting on a getaway day and you already won the series.
You had some scheduled days off for a couple of guys.
You give Christian Walker the half day and somehow, some

(02:31):
way you scratch claw and get the win and get
the sweep against the Arizona Diamondbacks. How do the twenty
twenty five Euston Astros keep doing this? It's beyond me.
I don't know if we're gonna bring in like wizardry
into the equation or some sort of demon magic. I
don't know exactly what they're doing, but the fact that

(02:51):
they just continue to win with seventeen players on the
il you mentioned. I mean, Victor Carrottini is a major leaguer,
but the dude's been like, uh a switch hitting like
prime Hip Chipper Jones, like he he's he's swinging a
hot bat. I mean, Altuve had been having a hot
July and he had not even been in the lineup.

(03:12):
You give Cam Smith the day off, even though he
came in with a pinch hit opportunity, and you're starting
a guy named Brandon Walter who none of us had
had on the Astros radar at all. Dude is like
twenty eight years old and barely pitched it all in
the major leagues, and he comes up here and he's
looking like a real, the real deal. With his strikeout

(03:32):
to walk ratio, with his low era, he continues to
get out seven innings of one run ball by some
guy named Brandon Walter. You mentioned, yeah, Trammell and Carratini.
As you're one two, then we're going Bryce Matthews, Cooper Hummel,
I mean, Shay Whitcam How how Cordy? How do they

(03:53):
continue to do this?

Speaker 8 (03:54):
We'll give our astros player the game brought to you
by Twin Peaks. We're gonna give it to Brandon Walter.
He was outstanding. Like I said, eighty two pitches. Probably
could have gone out there for the eighth if you
really wanted to. But when you have a bullpen such
as good as this, you don't need to stretch starters.
You don't need to press your luck. But say that
knowing BENNETTSUSA was not great in the eighth, but and

(04:16):
have two fifty nine still on the season. I mean,
he's overall been really solid.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
But I got him at three thirty five. I don't
know if that's well something else, we got a different
page or something.

Speaker 7 (04:25):
Either way, it's.

Speaker 8 (04:27):
He, you know, again for him to give it up
and you're tied three to three, just to hurry up
and take the lead in the Have you ever seen
anything like that?

Speaker 3 (04:34):
And no, Susan, you're talking about Suso.

Speaker 8 (04:36):
Yeah, sorry, But to come back in the ninth, dude,
with leadoff bunts.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
You're doing back to back leadoff bunch. You've got all
these guys who are like, uh, triple A players on
your team, and you somehow just go out there and
continue to win. I can't even I can't even figure.

Speaker 8 (04:54):
As Chayler Room said it, a lineup that did not
feature al Tuve alvarettz Paradi Tanya still managed to rack
up eleven hits and took fifteen at bats with runners
in scoring position. Absolutely incredible stuff. You gotta play the game.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
I oh, play of the game. Yeah, let's just go
with the go ahead single from Christian Walker, Yeah the
ninth Walker.

Speaker 8 (05:23):
Walker was was solid today. Man, he again outside of
the strikeouts. But we'll call that your play of the game,
presented by moral mechanical cooling and hating Christian Walker singling
there in the ninth to score. Zach Short just got
past the infielder and that's all you need.

Speaker 7 (05:38):
Sometimes I was.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
Thinking and hitting my crazy last five games just.

Speaker 8 (05:44):
Saying I was thinking of giving the play of the
game to the home played umpire Brian Walsh.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
Oh my god, that was my final pitch of the
game with little help for your friends. Everything that can
go right is going right for the Astros except for
the injury line.

Speaker 8 (05:56):
Right, I will say, though he called, Brian Walsh called
at a strike a few pitches earlier, and it was outside.

Speaker 7 (06:03):
This so at least consistently. Okay, he called that strike prior.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
Uh. Even then, umpires are not consistent, even though people
try to say, well, that was an outside pitch last time.

Speaker 7 (06:12):
You got to be.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
Ready for that.

Speaker 9 (06:13):
No, you gotta.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
How about he calls, he makes the right call. But
any when the Astros famous, so, I guess I'm not
gonna I'm about.

Speaker 8 (06:18):
Go sit your ass down. I could tell Martine, let's uh,
that's an Astros dub.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
And that's a sweep.

Speaker 7 (06:25):
Let's get back out the phone.

Speaker 8 (06:26):
Line seven one, seven nineties and number seven one three
five seven ninety is the seven ninety listener line presented
by Daily and Black. Don't settle. Fight back with Daily
and Black. Let's talk to JB out in Seattle. JB
what's on your mind?

Speaker 1 (06:40):
Hey, guys.

Speaker 10 (06:40):
Yeah, Actually I live in Arizona, but I went after
that Seattle series, I'm back in Arizona, and you know
here we can sports bet legally. And when I saw
the lineup for today, like you guys were saying, how
ragtag it was, I said, I'm going to bet on
my first Major League Baseball game of the year, and
I'm going to bet the under the Astros at three

(07:01):
and a half and so I cannot believe they scored
four runs with that lineup, and fat he's pretty good,
and so it's a bet. I don't do, not mind
losing at all, especially if we win. If we lost
the game and they'd scored four or more, that would
have sucked. But one thing I wanted to bring up

(07:22):
was you're just talking about it that Josh Hader strike
three on Catel Marte. So I posted on my Twitter
handle some photos and still shots where Diaz caught that ball.
It was over the plate, but the where it crossed
the plate according to the strike zone thing is it

(07:44):
was like five inches off the plate, right. I mean,
there's no way that ball could have moved six inches
into Diaz's glove. So I wanted to ask you guys,
is data trustworthy or the right the own thing's trustworthy?
Because just take a look at you know, my Twitter's
ball club and you can see the still shots I posted.

(08:07):
It's just there's no way a backdoor slider could move
six inches from the stripe zone into diaz Is glove.
So have you seen these have you seen these kinds
of things before? It was a huge play of course
where it's really not that accurate.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
Really that's pretty reliable. I haven't seen exactly what you're
talking about. I mean I watched it live. I haven't
seen a replay or anything like that. But yeah, I
mean I don't know if it's as if the pitch
is getting framed or if there was some late movement,
but they take it. Yeah, when the ball crosses the plate.

Speaker 10 (08:39):
Okay, yeah, just take a look at it. I mean,
it's just crazy that how good Josh Hader is on
a back door slider to go from off the plate
into Diaz because that can fool the ump. Diaz definitely
catches the ball on the corner of the plate. You
can see it, and so I can see why umps
would get full by where the catcher catches it and

(09:03):
where it crosses the platee I mean, what is it?
Maybe a foot difference between where the strike zone is
and where the catcher catches it. So, uh, that's the
center play it.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
I'm watching it. So, yeah, thank you for the call.
We appreciate it. But it keeps it does keep breaking
in and obviously Josh Hater throws a slider with a
lot of movement, but it looks pretty well out of
the box. And I will also say this that the
the TV broadcast is always a little bit off. If
you go to MLB dot com, that's the more official

(09:36):
and it's a little bit closer there. It's not as
far off as it is on the TV broadcast. So
it's definitely closer than the TV broadcast. If you go
look at MLB dot com, you can do Game Day
or you can do the MLB app as well, which
is what I like to use. So yeah, it wasn't
like the most egregious call in the history of the world,
but it was off the plate. It just was. And
Astro's got a gift ball game over they get to win.

(09:58):
I think that they should take the human element out
because literally you have a game decided on bad calls.
But hey, it is what it is. Guess what this
is for all the pitchers and hitters who say they
love the human element. How's gonna tell Marte feeling about
the human element today?

Speaker 8 (10:11):
Well, we all know you're a big time in backs
fan Ross, so we all know you're you wanted to
see a different than God.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
But sorry, I have to be objected.

Speaker 8 (10:19):
Thinking of Josh Hater relief pitch of the Game presented
by Trajan Wealth Management. Not going with sus So, going
with Hater who goes shutout in and gives up a hit,
two strikeouts on eighteen pitches, twenty seventh save of the season,
at his second most behind Suarez of the Padres shut
out Josh Hater.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
Well, why can't it be Spinet's susa? He picked up
the win?

Speaker 8 (10:41):
Yeah, one of the dumbest rules of baseball. Hey, I
sucked so stupid, I got a win.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
I spent I spent a little bit.

Speaker 11 (10:48):
Sorry it's you blew it, but you get a win.
He's four and oh on the season. He got a
blown save and the win, and when he left the
game it was tied. That is so dumb.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
Have Brandon Walter the win? He threw seven innings a
one run ball. They do not win the game without him.
Change the freaking rule.

Speaker 8 (11:07):
Well, did you see the game last night? Like Fromber
was straight up tell him the guys in the dugout
and go get me my win, like I pitched my
butt off. It's a tie, get like, go get the
lead right now and get me my eleventh win.

Speaker 7 (11:18):
And that's what they did for Frober last night.

Speaker 3 (11:20):
Yeah, Bryce Matthews shout out to him.

Speaker 7 (11:21):
Shout out. I mean it uh outstanding.

Speaker 8 (11:24):
Joe on by the way, seven seven ninety. If you
guys want to jump in here, we're talking Astros with
you this entire hour. Joe on Twitter says, ross sixty
two games left. What's the Astros final record? He said,
if we get everyone back, I say they win forty
more or more of.

Speaker 7 (11:43):
These last sixty two And that's that's a little high.

Speaker 8 (11:46):
It's a little high, but again not crazy wishful thinking,
like if they get ever Getty back, if they get.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
One of Xavier or Xavier is getting closed or JP France,
well okay, g P Francis Son. But I'm saying like
France and Enjoyce sugar Lands France.

Speaker 8 (12:02):
And Luis Garcia, if they come back. I think will
be like long relief guys. Okay, I don't think they'll
be in the rotation.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
Well, yeah, I don't. You're just gonna have so many guys.
I think somebody is gonna end up with the Space Cowboys.
So I don't know. We'll see, especially what happens with
these paratus. I mean, my fear is that he's out
for the season.

Speaker 7 (12:22):
They keep saying it's it's really serious, it's real, it's.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
Really significant, and they're not getting deadlines, and he was
immediately eyeled. I'm guessing and this is just me guessing.
It feels like he's out at least for the regular season.

Speaker 8 (12:32):
I'm not ready to go there yet because it is
a hamstring. They didn't say like there's a rip there,
and it's.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
I mean, hamstrings can rip, ham strings can go off
the bone.

Speaker 8 (12:41):
Yeah, I just I'm gonna hold firm too. He's back
sometime in September. I'm gonna I'm gonna hold that hope
hope out.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
Okay, I'm gonna keep my hopes low. We'll see what
happens to Jordan on At least he's swinging a bat.
But I don't think this is one hundred win team.

Speaker 8 (12:55):
And Panya's doing baseball activities down in Florida.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
What does that even mean?

Speaker 7 (12:59):
They said, running, throwing, and hitting progression.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
Whatever. That's good, I guess. So, yeah, I'm gonna keep
my hopes low. Look, if they win forty of the
next sixty games, I'm not gonna tell you you're crazy,
because they've just been winning these games. I mean just
just with duct tape and vibes in black magic. It's
just insane what they continue to do. But I do expect,

(13:23):
and we do have to remember before this sweep, they
were in a scenario. I'm sorry, but the sweep in
the last win of the Mariners. They had lost seven
of eight, So they can go on some bad spells.

Speaker 8 (13:34):
Yeah, what if I told you Saturday night when they
lost two in a row to Seattle. Yeah, hey, Ross
Wednesday afternoon, they're gonna have the best record in the
American League.

Speaker 3 (13:41):
I mean literally five that's the beauty, one hundred and
sixty two games. Yeah, literally four games ago, We're like,
oh god, the wheels have come off. Look, they held
it together as quickly as well as they could with
all these injuries. But now they're in between it's catching
up to them, fatigue the young guys. Well, they've won
four in a row, so but.

Speaker 7 (14:01):
Look look at how they've done it. It's pitching. This
four game streak.

Speaker 8 (14:05):
Look at what they've given up three runs, three runs,
one run, three runs.

Speaker 7 (14:10):
That's the bottom line.

Speaker 8 (14:12):
Like, this offense isn't gonna be one of the best
in baseball, but it's strong enough that the pitching has
been so damn good. You know when when they get
when they give up three runs or less, this team
is winning.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
It feels like, yeah, uh, it's been incredible to watch
for sure.

Speaker 8 (14:27):
Seven five, seven ninety is the number. Let's grab another
phone call here before we grab our next time. Let's
get uh, let's get Ross calling from Pensacola in here.

Speaker 7 (14:38):
Ross, what's up?

Speaker 3 (14:38):
That's my dog? What up?

Speaker 12 (14:41):
Ross?

Speaker 1 (14:42):
And Yeah? What up?

Speaker 9 (14:45):
Hey?

Speaker 13 (14:46):
Hey?

Speaker 1 (14:46):
No Ross?

Speaker 12 (14:47):
You remember when that I think the little the young
man's name was Jay.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
Remember he called you in June? Remember what he told me?
Ready to go? Yeah? Oh man, I love it. He
called it. He said, bring him up. I mean dag good.

Speaker 12 (15:05):
I think he didn't have a hit today, but he
had another RBI and he flashed the leather last night.

Speaker 1 (15:13):
And he gets on base. Yeah, like he's you know,
he's getting on base.

Speaker 12 (15:19):
I'm not gonna lie like everyone's saying like these are
the no name Astros.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
These are the mastros.

Speaker 6 (15:26):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
But I love that they're grinding. I love it.

Speaker 12 (15:30):
It's a lot of fun to watch. Yeah, and y'all,
y'all just said it. I mean, they're getting a done
with pitching. They're getting done with pitching, getting it done
with these these no name folks.

Speaker 1 (15:41):
It's a lot of fun, y'all.

Speaker 7 (15:43):
Take care of Thanks, thanks for Carl Ross. Appreciate it, man.

Speaker 8 (15:46):
Yeah, it's uh, this has been a fun ride, man.
I mean this season is because, let's let's be honest,
you had these seasons where you had like Bregman and
Tucker and yourd on and it was like you're going
autopilot and you go, yeah with me. Up in September,
I mean, in the play playoffs are almost here. This team
you really didn't know coming into the year if we
felt like they were a playoff team, but you really

(16:07):
didn't know. And then once they got into it, it's like, oh, yeah,
it's the same same old simol. They're gonna they're gonna, yeah,
get in the first place of the AO West and
done this thing.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
The funny thing to me is that over the years
you realize every one hundred and sixty two game season
is its own story, like it's its own book in
a way, and their chapters and their trials and tribulations
and ups and downs. And with these astros, it doesn't matter.
They continue to just continue to win the AO West
and win them and make the playoffs. But yeah, you
mentioned JP France. Remember a couple of years ago he

(16:39):
was holding the rotation together out of nowhere. I mean
of different guys step up at different times. Jake Myers.
Early in the season, you had as somebody one of
those gonna end up maybe as one of those unsung heroes.
Right now it's been Taylor Tremmell, randomly Zach Like in
ten years I ask you about the Zach Short walk
off and you'd be like, what who is that? You know,

(17:01):
it's been all these little interesting things with the ups
and downs and the injuries, and you know, as I said,
every season is its own story. This has been one
of the more wild ones for sure.

Speaker 8 (17:12):
Yeah, let's get Andy in here real quick. Andy, welcome in.

Speaker 13 (17:16):
Then, Hey, gentlemen, I want to talk about a rule
change that whose time has come, the vulture win needs
to go.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
Walter.

Speaker 13 (17:28):
Walter deserved the win tonight. Dussa only got the win
because he blew the league. And with starting pitchers getting
fewer and fewer and fewer wins every year, that it's
time to recalculate how we administer the scoring of who
gets the wins.

Speaker 7 (17:50):
Yeah. I there was that game a couple of weeks ago.

Speaker 8 (17:53):
What they were I think it was a Dodger game
where they were blowing somebody out and one of the
relievers came in to pitch the last three innings and
he got a save.

Speaker 7 (18:01):
And it was one of those stupid games where they
were where they.

Speaker 8 (18:03):
Won like nineteen to one or whatever the hell it
was because three innings and he got to say and one,
that's one of the dumbest rules they know. You have
no business getting a save, uh in a blowout win
when when your team's up a million, all because you
pitched the last three innings.

Speaker 13 (18:17):
So I would he have gotten Would he have gotten
the win if he'd have given up sixteen runs?

Speaker 7 (18:26):
Well, I don't know, that's a sixteen pitched five innings?

Speaker 3 (18:30):
What you got to save? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (18:32):
Yeah, it's right, it's it's just crazy.

Speaker 8 (18:35):
I mean, there's some stuff in baseball that we're changing
things as we go that those are two things I
think should change, right.

Speaker 13 (18:42):
And I thought that the play of the game tonight
was that double play to end the eighth inning.

Speaker 7 (18:50):
Yeah, that was huge.

Speaker 3 (18:51):
Yeah, it wasn't a particularly difficult play to make. But yeah,
as far as a key moment, for sure.

Speaker 14 (18:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 13 (18:57):
But two young guys who barely well, I guess they
did play together in the miners, right, Short and Uh,
I mean Strong and uh the new kid the second
basement Matthews.

Speaker 7 (19:07):
Yeah, yeah, Short appreciate.

Speaker 3 (19:10):
Bond was well, did any of the third I don't remember.

Speaker 8 (19:13):
Yeah, who can keep track? They're moving guys around every night. Yeah,
Whitcombe was at third, Waitcomb at third, Bryson, but then
Bond play, then Short, Bony started, Short moved a second, Yes,
Zach Short came in a short Whatever the hell was
in the game, I think it was short. All right,
let's see this. We'll grab a quick break. We will

(19:33):
come back. We'll grab more of you guys in the
fall lines. Michael Paul, I see you. We'll get to
you guys. Seven one three, seven, This is the Astros
tenth Inning Show presented by Daiian Black Cacabo with the
Crawford Box Cast coming to you from Carbox Brewing.

Speaker 3 (19:54):
Webb Back to the tenth Inning Show slash Profit Box

seven o'clock program presented by Dailian Black, Don't Settle Fight
back with Daily and Black Phone lines open at seven

(20:17):
one two five seven ninety I ask you this, Gordy, Uh,
how's fire? Joe spot a guy doing right now?

Speaker 7 (20:25):
Not great?

Speaker 8 (20:26):
But you know he was living in his glory on
Friday and Saturday, so you know it is what it is.
It's every day brings a new adventure. But uh, I again,
I cannot stress enough how Joe Spott has been able
to piece this thing together and manage his roster and
have this team here. They are on July twenty third
best record in the American League.

Speaker 7 (20:48):
I feel like I need to.

Speaker 8 (20:49):
Keep saying it because it just doesn't even seem right
with the heat of the top.

Speaker 7 (20:53):
I mean, like you re lease.

Speaker 8 (20:53):
They're better than the Detroit Tigers, who've led the American
League for much of the season. Yes, better than the Yankees,
better than Mariners, the Red Sox. I mean, the list
goes on and on. Absolutely incredible what they've been able
to do.

Speaker 3 (21:07):
So every team in baseball ty except for the Brewers
one game behind them and then tied with the Cubs.

Speaker 7 (21:12):
Look are they gonna win the American League? I don't know.

Speaker 8 (21:15):
There's a long way to go, but just for them
to even be here late July almost August is nothing.

Speaker 7 (21:21):
Short of incredible.

Speaker 8 (21:22):
So uh seven, I let's go back out to the
phone lines presented by Daily and Black. Let's talk to
Michael in downtown. Michael, what's up?

Speaker 12 (21:35):
Hey, guys.

Speaker 15 (21:35):
I'm gonna have to tip my hat to Jim Crane
and Dana Brown, because I'm gonna tell you, First off,
Crane had a lot of balls to fire that general
manager after we had really pretty much went to the
World Series, okay, and then number two, I think what
Dana's Brown has brought to our club has brought I'm
sorry brought to our club is the ability to just

(21:58):
let people have a shot. I mean, I mean, even
the picture today he just signs a guy from the
Red Sox for about FO one to seven thousand thows
of them. You know, this guy has a three point
six y six earned run average. Now, he's not going
to start for us all the time. He may not
be a great starter in the in the whole scheme
of things, but he's sitting there in case we have
the injuries in Lo and behowd we have the injuries?

(22:20):
You know, he just seems to be more of a
baseball guy that gives some people a shot that other
people may not. And then he also has extra people
just sort of around and with an almost in an
atmosphere of everybody on the team saying, you know what,
I wasn't always great when I started a kid, get

(22:41):
out there and see what you can do. And I
think it brings an extra level of confidence when the
general manager basically doesn't give a damn who the hell
you were, how much you failed at the previous club.
He's just going to bring you in and see what
the hell you got going on. And the owner allowing
him to spend that money. I mean, think about that's
five undred thousand dollars for somebody that didn't work out

(23:02):
with the Red Sox just sitting there. That's a lot
of money for owning the letter the general managers then
for somebody just to sit around until you need them.
So I just want to tip my hat to both
of them, because I think they're giving us a hell
of a ball club that the everyday man. I mean,
I think we're all watching the games more often because
we're just like, who the hell going to do it today?

(23:24):
Who's gonna help gonna do it tomorrow? I think this
is an exciting club for just the everyday damn man
because there's a lot of people to root for cause,
you know, even if they don't play for us next year,
I just like the way they got their damn start.
I really do. And that's all I've got to say.

Speaker 7 (23:41):
I got you. Thanks for the call, Michael, appreciate it. Yeah,
I forget who it is.

Speaker 8 (23:45):
Dana Brown was all with Sean Salisbury a few weeks ago,
and Sean had brought up some signing and Danny gave
credit to he goes, oh, yeah, that's so and so
our organization.

Speaker 7 (23:54):
I don't know if it's Andrew.

Speaker 8 (23:55):
Ball, the assistant GM, but there's a lot of guys
under him, so Dana does deserve a lot of credit,
but I just wanted to point that out that like,
there's certain guys that, like, again, like one of these guys,
Gavin Dickie or Charles Cook as an assistant GM will go, hey, Dana,
is this guy that the Red Sox just cut Brandon Walter.
I think we should give him a look, And Dan
and goes, yeah, okay, sign and put him in the system.

(24:16):
And so it is.

Speaker 7 (24:17):
It is a group efforts sometimes and.

Speaker 3 (24:19):
Was pretty solid Dana.

Speaker 8 (24:20):
Actually sometimes there's a yeah, hey, hey, you know, Astros fans,
we're coming. But you know, there's certain guys that that
Scott my look at. Branda Walter was actually signed to
a minor league deal by the Astros almost a year
ago August fifteenth of last year, and they stuffed him
in the minor league system and he started the season
with Triple A sugar Land and just got red hot.

(24:41):
He went started three to one with a one ninety
four ERA in ten appearances and May twenty if they
called him up.

Speaker 7 (24:47):
And he has been he's been great.

Speaker 3 (24:50):
Go Blue Hens twenty sixth round pick out of the
University of Delaware.

Speaker 8 (24:53):
Yeah, for for what you're asking out of a guy
to be your basically number five pitcher.

Speaker 7 (24:57):
Brandon Walter has been great. So is it gonna last
all year?

Speaker 8 (25:01):
I don't know, but you just you thank him for
what he's giving you right now and hope that hope
that it continues.

Speaker 3 (25:07):
So it's been Yeah, like I said, he's he's separated
himself from you know, we kind of lumped him in
with Colden Gordon and Royn Gusta, who are very good
coming up. But yeah, a lot of times pitchers have
the advantage when they first come up. Then guys kind
of figure out how they're gonna be pitched, and then
you have to readjust and Brandon Walter just continues to

(25:29):
plug away. Not like he's put a full season of
this together, but now nine starts in and he had
that bad hiccup in Colorado, but since then has been
pitching much better, including seven innings of one run ball today.
It's been impressive. Like we didn't know who Brandon Walter was,
and honestly, it's like, do we bother learn about this
guy who might be sent back down? He is certainly

(25:52):
making a name for himself as he continues to turn
in these great starts and keep his era down a
three thirty five now in the season, and also impressively
mentioned the walks had been limited. A whip of point
ninety three is elite. I mean, that's just that's great.

Speaker 7 (26:06):
Matt.

Speaker 8 (26:06):
Matt Hogan might have been the name I was thinking of.
He's their directive player personnel. So whoever it was, give
that guy props real quick, Ross, do you want to
get to our postgame Al West standings brought to by
Hondov clear Like and Hondoff Clearlike dot Com. The Astros
sit six games up on the Mariners. You'd realize as
great as it was, they took two out of you know,

(26:27):
first two out of two against the Astros out of
the All Star break, the Mariners have not lost three
out of their last four. They lost to the Brewers
today to lose that series.

Speaker 3 (26:35):
Shout out to brew crew.

Speaker 7 (26:37):
You know, it's just crazy how quick that thing can
turn on a dime.

Speaker 3 (26:40):
Yeah, that's great because I was worried. I mean, you
could have if they had got swept on Sunday. You're
talking about a two game deficit and you're really feeling
them breathing down your neck. And now, as you said,
it's funny the Ebbs and the Flows. Six game lead
now for the Astros over the Seattle Mariners, eight games
over the Rangers, eleven over the Los Angeles Angels at

(27:01):
forty nine to fifty three, and eighteen and a half
ahead of the Athletics. Those are some postgame aos standings
there for you. Chris Cordy.

Speaker 7 (27:08):
There you go. Let's get back up to the fall.

Speaker 3 (27:10):
Z presented to you by dnm WE.

Speaker 8 (27:11):
Seven ninety seven one three two on two five seven.
It sucked to Doug in Cyprus. Doug, what's up, hey, guys, Gordian.
I know it's been a long day for you. I
heard you this morning on Salisbury's show. But uh in
the studio, Yeah, yeah, I know I was up early

(27:33):
working up.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
Oh that my first spot, and you know early this morning.
But my point is what I wanted to say was that,
you know, everybody's saying, like, you know.

Speaker 7 (27:44):
How how are these.

Speaker 16 (27:45):
Guys doing this?

Speaker 6 (27:46):
How?

Speaker 2 (27:46):
You know, if you look at their background last year,
most of the guys that are playing for the Astros
right now were you know, on a championship team last year.
And I think, you know, when these guys play together
and they win a championship and now. I mean, I
don't know how many of them are actually up they

(28:07):
won the championship last year, but I know it was.
It's a bunch of them. And when you got that
championship as as a group, and now you guys are
up there in the league that you know, you're not
supposed to just be outstanding at, but they're doing enough
to get it done. I think having that, having that
background of winning a championship and now playing for the

(28:31):
Strows now and doing what they're doing, I don't look
at it past, you know, I mean, where's all of
our big, big league guys right now? These guys, these
young guys are doing it because they did it together
last year, and I think that really carries over and
I just want to get you guys thoughts on that.

Speaker 3 (28:56):
Thanks appreciate the call. Yeah, it's it's just I mean
some of it. Of course, we can give credit to
the you know, the championship attitude and the winning and
all that type of stuff, and that's cool, but I
alstill think that's kind of just putting a label on
something that we number one, can't put our fingers on,
and number two maybe even a bit of a service

(29:16):
to guys who have been putting in the work and
who are doing some things. It is, you know, the
couple of swings from Bryce Matthews here and there from
Taylor Trammell who's worked hard to come back from the
injuries that he's had as well, and you're getting all
these kind of mismash of players. We're making plays at
the right time. And then Brandon Walter as well, did
he go out there and throw seven innings a one

(29:37):
run ball because quote unquote championship success or did the
Astros help him find something? And he's out there pitching
well and doing something well within himself. So a lot
of credit to go around, maybe even putting a little
bit of a luck factor in there as well with
the one run ball games that they continue to win
and have had a great success in this year. But

(30:00):
anything you want to point to, whatever it is, they
just keep on winning ball games despite all these injuries.
I don't know what's gonna happen at the end of
this year, Gordy, but I'm gonna say this, this is
already to me a special season. The storylines that we've given,
the unbelievable moments with all these guys who have been down,
and they just continue to plug away and win games.

Speaker 7 (30:21):
No doubt.

Speaker 8 (30:21):
Let's squeeze Cassie in here real quick before we grab
our next break.

Speaker 7 (30:25):
Cassie, what's up?

Speaker 2 (30:27):
Hi?

Speaker 6 (30:28):
Thank you well. First of all, I love listening to
your station and your show, and I heard you this
morning too.

Speaker 15 (30:35):
Before I just say a Spot.

Speaker 6 (30:37):
Is like a miracle worker. If he was like a physician,
nobody he would have no mortality in his clinic. And
I think we should also make sure that we don't
let any other teams talk down. Thanks.

Speaker 7 (30:53):
Thanks for the call, Cassie.

Speaker 3 (30:54):
No, he's here. I don't know where you go and
find this stat Gordy, But like she's saying, it feels
like he's just got that magic touch, especially when it
comes to like pinch hit situations and stuff like that.
I know, of course he's going on numbers and not uh,
I mean, you know, the old school. I got a
good feeling about this, but it just feels like when
he pulls the string and he's the puppet master. When

(31:17):
it comes to like pinch hit situations and stuff like that,
he's very good. And the use of the bullpen, I
would say, has been very very good as well. Now,
You've got guys out there who are going there, out
there and getting out, but also being put in positions
to succeed. And that's all a manager can do. He
can fill out a lineup card, they have to go play.
He can put pictures on the mound, they have to

(31:39):
go get out, but you put them in in situations
where they can thrive. And and Joe's body does that.

Speaker 8 (31:46):
Yeah, no doubt. Let's uh, let's do this. We grab
a quick break. We will come back. We'll get to
you guys on the fall lines. Chris Paul Damian I
see you seven seven ninety quick break, will come back.
Continue on here on a hybrid edition of The Tenth
Inning Show, uh Slash Crawford box Cast live from Pizza
and Pints here a Carbock Brewing. It is the Astro

(32:11):
seven Innings Show, Sportstocks seven ninety for Scordy Ross Viriel,
the team on here from PiZZ and Pints over here
at car Bock Brewing. Taking your phone calls at seven
one three, seven ninety seven, seven ninety reacting to the
Astro sweeping the Arizona Diamondbacks winning today four to three,

(32:32):
and an afternoon affair. They'll come back home for a
seven game homestand starting tomorrow night at dyk In Park,
the A's come in for four, the Nats come in
for three, and then you're on the road up to Boston.

Speaker 7 (32:44):
So, uh, seven games against two crappy.

Speaker 3 (32:48):
Teams, which makes me terrified. Actually, yeah, so we'll see
how that goes.

Speaker 7 (32:53):
Because they've played down to their competitions.

Speaker 3 (32:55):
H Well, you know that's a little overblown when you
look at the win percentages against teams below five hundred.
But I get what you're saying. Every loss against the
White Sox or the A's feels like two.

Speaker 8 (33:05):
Well, you know, like take it two out of three
in Colorado? What it should have been a sweep?

Speaker 3 (33:10):
Things I should have been okay, Colorado. You know if
if two out of three, that's fifty wins for them.
Now they're not going to get to that. But you know,
you're not can't assume a sweep, certainly not in baseball.

Speaker 8 (33:19):
You're not selling the other Rockies. Let's get back out
of the fall lines in order of the longest wait.
Let's talk to you Chris up at spring Chris, what's
up in.

Speaker 1 (33:29):
How are you all doing?

Speaker 7 (33:31):
Good man? What you got?

Speaker 1 (33:33):
Yes?

Speaker 14 (33:34):
I thought after running out of lineup like this today,
we could come up with an alternative jersey for the
team to wear. They would spell Astros a A A
S t r O S and maybe put a little
face cowboys at a bug.

Speaker 3 (33:52):
Triple A Astros. I like it.

Speaker 14 (33:56):
Exactly, And they went out of line.

Speaker 3 (34:00):
And then that other guy who has two ways sal
Frank the thought, thank you, Chris. Chris Gordyo is our
resident logo maker. We'll get him right on that.

Speaker 8 (34:13):
I think I'm also the resident uh everything as a
former stand up comedian.

Speaker 7 (34:17):
I'll judge. I'll judge that joke. I'll give you a
three out of ten.

Speaker 3 (34:21):
So have you put triple A Astros on Twitter? You
might get a few likes.

Speaker 8 (34:27):
Wellyo, what the hell was the deal with those pictures
pitching today? Ginkle fought and sell Frunk.

Speaker 3 (34:33):
Yeah, I guess I think they're representing uh, Norway and
Sweden in the upcoming upcoming World Baseball Classic.

Speaker 8 (34:39):
Something going on over there in Arizona. But yeah, that
was fun. I mean they was good, good on, good
on Christian Walker to go back to you know the
place where he spent all his all his years there
and perform. Well, you know, I was joking yesterday that
you know, if you can get one of those VR
headsets and make him think that he's either a Dodger

(34:59):
Stadium more is it Chase Field?

Speaker 3 (35:01):
What's the film Chase Field? The app?

Speaker 7 (35:03):
Yeah, ma, think he's in one of those places.

Speaker 3 (35:04):
Can we hypnotize him? Yeah, something like that. I mean,
didn't that it worked in office space. They would get
to get him hypnotized to where he thinks he's at
Dodger Stadium every single game, and he'll be fine.

Speaker 8 (35:13):
It's just it's it's look, Christian Walker, if you could
start hitting me, can we just get you above two fifty.

Speaker 7 (35:20):
We'll get you above two fifty. I'll feel okay.

Speaker 3 (35:22):
I mean he hit like two forty seven last year,
so we just need the power. Not even about it,
and that's true.

Speaker 7 (35:28):
Let me, he'd be like forty home runs. I don't
care what you hit.

Speaker 3 (35:32):
Let's see last year he hit two fifty one. Sorry, uh,
I think his career was two forty seven. Now he's
up to two forty eight for a career. Two fifty
one last year he hit, but he had twenty six
home runs ops over eight hundred, So it's it's been
creeping up for him. Now six eighty one is gone
from He's gone from a complete embarrassment to just really
bad for a for a slugging first basement.

Speaker 8 (35:55):
Yeah, let's get Paul in Myrland in here. Paul, what's
up in Hey?

Speaker 6 (36:00):
Man?

Speaker 10 (36:01):
You know what I like?

Speaker 17 (36:02):
I like pizza and I like paints.

Speaker 1 (36:05):
So I'm kind of endious.

Speaker 3 (36:06):
You guys in luck.

Speaker 17 (36:09):
I'm the family man now, you know, so I gotta
be here. But hey, man, I am so glad the
Astros are starting to get the Tom Glavin Greg Maddock
strike zone.

Speaker 1 (36:20):
Isn't that cool?

Speaker 17 (36:23):
I'll take it, hey, I'll take it to you man,
and to all the small ball haters that don't like bunts.

Speaker 3 (36:32):
Shut chill, bum ass up, No, you shut up. It's
come on. When it's like when it's Taylor Troummel and
Zach Short, I have less with it. But when it's
like two guys are on and Josel two bays trying
to bunt guys over, I want him to get hits.
I want him to get extra base hits.

Speaker 1 (36:52):
Here, man.

Speaker 17 (36:53):
But hey, I want to tip my hat to Matt's
story and the sters, I mean Space Cowboys coaching staff
forgetting these guys, Brady to play in egg Baseball Mickey story,
Mickey story, Matt story and Mickey story. Okay, my bad,
but man, this player developed.

Speaker 3 (37:13):
We got Paul.

Speaker 1 (37:16):
Well, I got four shots and one shiner.

Speaker 3 (37:18):
Oh so only one shiner, but four shots not a
good algorithm. You are You are not in triple A, sir.
You were in the majors.

Speaker 17 (37:29):
Oh I am I earlier for a long time.

Speaker 2 (37:34):
Hey, you guys take care.

Speaker 17 (37:35):
I want you to go up to the bar there
and get you a car bock.

Speaker 1 (37:38):
Blood street blonde on me.

Speaker 17 (37:41):
And I want to tip my hat again to uh
Ozzy Osbourne car ride after I stepped on the old poop.

Speaker 3 (37:51):
Thanks for the call, Paul, appreciate you entertaining as always
the one and only Paul in my Ireland.

Speaker 8 (37:56):
Folks, great, uh great spot to grab a Crawford Balk
when you're out here at Carbox. There's a there's some
folks in here having a few paradom Astros baseballs. So yes,
make sure you guys are loaded up. Good news is
After's back at the ballpark tomorrow night. I'll be out
there Friday night. I'll have a couple of Crawford Box
out there watching. Yeah, it's not working the game. But no, no,

(38:17):
it's a fan on Friday.

Speaker 3 (38:18):
That's good. That's the best way to go. Although they're working.

Speaker 8 (38:22):
Although you could argue during during some of the one
hundred lost seasons, it might have been more fun doing
some of those postgame shows loaded up.

Speaker 3 (38:28):
Now Crawford buck, No, it wasn't fun. He's trying to
figure out five different ways to monologue about one game.

Speaker 7 (38:35):
Seven seven ninety.

Speaker 8 (38:37):
It is our seven ninety listener line presented by Daily
and Black. Let's talk to Damian and a Taska sea
of Damian.

Speaker 7 (38:43):
What's up?

Speaker 16 (38:46):
Ross and Bory?

Speaker 9 (38:47):
Hey, I want to hey, real quick before I say
it is bros. I'm like you, man, I'm terrified of
these next couple of series because this seemed like it'd
be a great opportunity for us to push that league
up and then push that lead we have up a
little bit more of these are the kind of games
that we you know, we kind of falter a little bit.
But hey, I'm optimistic, but real quick, Hey.

Speaker 16 (39:07):
Gordy, do you think are we concerned at all or
should we be concerned at all with with how remarkable
or we've been playing that that coach Uh and Dana Brown.
Are we gonna stand pat or with the trade deadline
coming in, are we gonna make any moves? Or do
you think they're just gonna continue to let these guys
grow and jail together and and just keep it if

(39:30):
I guess with the mentality, if it's not broke, don't
fix it and not hang up and listening to that thanks.

Speaker 7 (39:36):
Sort of called Damian. Here's the problem.

Speaker 8 (39:38):
The astros have said publicly they'd love to add another arm,
they'd love to add another bat. Well, that's great, I'd
love to have a Lexus outside the garage.

Speaker 7 (39:48):
It's what's the price? What's the cost?

Speaker 3 (39:51):
Correct?

Speaker 8 (39:51):
And the problem is ross when you look at the
Walt Cart race there again, I say this whole time.
I love it that we added more walk, more playoff spots.
But as a result, you still currently have way more
buyers than you have sellers. So when you have way
more buyers and you have sellers, what does that mean
an inflated market? It means asking prices are astronomical. And

(40:15):
for you who already have a farm system that's not
very highly rated, you've got I.

Speaker 7 (40:20):
Mean, what's crazy? You want to talk about the rich
get richer?

Speaker 8 (40:23):
The Dodgers actually have a pretty loaded farm system, and
they have the largest payroll in baseball. Like they have
the luxury if they could go buy players at the
deadline if they want, because they can give up prospects.
When Dana Brown was brought in here under Jim Craney,
you know what the number one goal was, help data,
help us build back this farm system. You know, one
of the first moves Jim Crane made Dana Brown do

(40:43):
giveaway Drew Gilbert to bring back Justin Verlander. So Daana's like,
I'm trying to build this thing back, and you're trading
prospects away. So I say all that to say, look
at where they are with Bryce Matthews up here, with
Jacob Melton. He's hurt, but he got called up here
with you, all these Cam Smith up here, like you
don't have a ton of people like those are the

(41:04):
pieces that because remember the top one hundred prospect lists
before the season, Kes Smith was the only one in there.
So when you look at Bryce Matthews and you go, oh,
he's untouchable. Other teams go, bro, he's not even a
top one hundred prospect.

Speaker 3 (41:17):
Yeah, you want Seth Lugo from the Royals.

Speaker 8 (41:19):
That's gonna start with Bryce Matthews and we're gonna go
down the line.

Speaker 7 (41:22):
Colton Gordon, not on, I want another Walter.

Speaker 8 (41:25):
Janik Yanick whatever, like that's the price of playing poker.
And you're us an Astros fan, are gonna go well,
hell no, I'm not giving all that up. Okay, great,
You're not making a trade then, because that's what it's
gonna take. It's going to take something big to move
because the asking prices too high.

Speaker 7 (41:41):
There's too many buyers.

Speaker 3 (41:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (41:42):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (41:43):
And Bryce Matthews was MLB Pipeline did their mid season
less and he was ninety eighth, So even like a bringe, fringe,
top one hundred guy who was even thought of when
he first came up here as an unfinished product, especially defensively.
So yeah, it's gonna be difficult. And then, as you mentioned,
you want a starting pitcher, you want a bat, you

(42:06):
want a leverage reliever right hander. I mean, you've got
all these lefties, which is great when you're piled up
against a lefty heavy lineup, but you're gonna need a
leverage righty besides just Brian A Bray you as well. So,
especially if you want to go deep into the playoffs.
So there there are a number of needs that the
Astros have with finite resources. As you said, that's why

(42:28):
I keep going back to. I understand it might be
foolhardy to trust that Javier Arraghetti Garcia and France a
couple of those guys are gonna be good, but you
might not have any other choice to try to bank
all that.

Speaker 8 (42:42):
And that's the thing is it look in a perfect
world if you get Jake Myers, Jeremy Panny and Jordan
Alvarez back, I mean, do you really need to go
get another back? Because that's the problem they were. One
of the names Chandler put in his article was the
guy who's a third baseman for the Colorado Rockies. You know,
it's like mcmay and something right, But he's got years

(43:03):
left on his deal. So what happens next year when
he sacked? Paratus is back, you know what I mean? Like,
where does he go?

Speaker 16 (43:08):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (43:08):
Maybe he can play somewhere else, Maybe you try to
flip him again. And also, by the way, he's got
decent numbers like seven twenty one ops, sixteen home runs,
but that's coors Field inflated because his ops plus one
hundred is league average. He's ninety three.

Speaker 8 (43:21):
Yeah, So again I say, I'll have to say I'm
not trying to defend Dana Brown or anything. I'm just saying,
like I think, at the end of the day, your
best bet may be just to stand pat and try
to get.

Speaker 3 (43:30):
Healthy expectations, keep him low for the deadline, and like, yeah, if.

Speaker 8 (43:34):
The if the asking price for Seth Lugo or one
of these other guys is astronomical, you know what, I'm
gonna take my shot that Spencer Arraghatty and Christian Hobbyer
come back, because remember Hobbyer is making what sixteen seventeen
million a year. He's yeah, he is, you know, on
his peak is a top line starting pitcher like your
number two or whatever.

Speaker 7 (43:54):
This is a guy who's throwing no hitters a couple
years ago. So if he can get back to some
semblance of what he was, to me.

Speaker 8 (43:59):
That's that's better than going and selling the farm again
to go get another arm.

Speaker 7 (44:05):
That's maybe a rental way.

Speaker 3 (44:06):
And I mean, if you can get lancea Collor' junior
off life support, that'd be nice. But he just sit
the ale again, I know, I know, don't expect any
but no.

Speaker 8 (44:16):
Look at the guy we saw Dodger Stadium two weeks ago. Yeah,
I mean that guy's in there some way. I just
need to hit that guy to be there every time
he goes out there. That guy can be there every
time he goes out there would be great.

Speaker 3 (44:27):
Yeah, but yeah. Ryan McMahon was mentioned by Chandler Rome
Brandon Lowe hit the I l he's for the Rays,
who are looking like a contender now, so I don't
know if they're gonna settle and also mentioned by channeler
Rome if you read his Paradis article in The Athletic,
mentioned Brent Batty and Ryan O'Hearn and Willie cashro the
Minnesota Twins.

Speaker 8 (44:46):
The problem with oh hearn isn't he first person basic?
Christian Walker goes.

Speaker 3 (44:52):
I'm dh. I don't know Christian Walker wants to. I
know Hearn. I think has played some outfield. I'll go
and look exactly where I think it's. Yeah, let me look,
he's played a little left. He's played two games and
left this year, sixteen games in right, thirty at DH
and forty two. At first, you're talking about first slash

(45:12):
outfields last year.

Speaker 8 (45:13):
I'm just saying you get Jake, Paynya and jord On back.
Where where's this new addition to back?

Speaker 3 (45:18):
Do we have any timeline him? Have we heard anything?
You know, it's exact.

Speaker 7 (45:22):
Dana did say today. It's not Achilles, it's Calf.

Speaker 3 (45:25):
Yes, that's good. He at least said that explicitly. But Penya,
of course, I'm banking on coming back next most reliably
coming back. I guess I would go yord On and
then maybe Jake and then Paradus, but the last three
of those I'm keeping my expectations.

Speaker 8 (45:41):
Sounds were asked Dana this morning on those guys, and
He's like, is August realistic?

Speaker 7 (45:45):
And Dane was like, oh yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (45:48):
Well okay, Well, Dana Brown has one drop in his
glass and the glasses at full. So I'm not trying
to say to completely dismiss what he says. I'm saying
take it with a grain AsSalt.

Speaker 8 (45:57):
I'm telling you, Paya's back next week, and you're runs
back somewhere in the next two weeks.

Speaker 7 (46:01):
That's what I'm.

Speaker 3 (46:02):
Gonna Okay, Well, you know what, sign me up, Sign
me up, doctor Gordon.

Speaker 8 (46:05):
I went to the stand Brown School for let's let's
get a couple more of your here in here before
you call it a show. This hour's flown by. Let's
get Mike tom Ball, Mike, what's up in.

Speaker 14 (46:18):
What's going on?

Speaker 16 (46:18):
Though? I was going to try to drop in on
what you are talking about. When everybody gets healthy, who's.

Speaker 15 (46:24):
Gonna be the odd man out?

Speaker 16 (46:27):
Are you gonna hopefully the Brandon Rodgers deal is gone?

Speaker 3 (46:31):
Yeah, Brendan Rodgers probably out. I mean, Shay Wickham is
an easy send down, easy send down to Jormy. You
or may I mean Taylor Tremmell will see. He's been
hitting some, but it's not like he's a future All Star.
Bryce Matthews, I would say, looks like he was here
to stay. Would you agree, Gordy, Yeah, give it more.
Unless you really get.

Speaker 7 (46:50):
To hits like a wall, Yeah, then you're sending him down.

Speaker 8 (46:52):
But if if not, I mean and and honestly, the
the infield spot is open right now and no.

Speaker 3 (46:59):
Even fully healthy. You need a second basement and Bryce
Matthews can fill that role.

Speaker 5 (47:03):
Now.

Speaker 8 (47:03):
If we find out at some point East Soak is done,
is done for the year, yeah, you know, are we
cool with just rolling with Dubon at third base every game?

Speaker 7 (47:10):
I mean, I don't know.

Speaker 8 (47:11):
Zach Short feels like that's a temporary fix. Zach Short's
not gonna hang around, right.

Speaker 3 (47:17):
So, I mean you'll have a couple of difficult decisions
to make and then a couple that won't be so difficult.
I think pitching will get really interesting. If Brandon Walter
continues to pitch the way that he does, it's a
good problem to happen. But mccullors continues to struggle.

Speaker 7 (47:30):
Was overall decent.

Speaker 8 (47:31):
I mean, you already moved him to the pens, so
you know it's yea, by the way, uh, Jason Alexander,
George Costanza, He's got another shot.

Speaker 3 (47:39):
Yese be back tomorrow. So and he was. He was
solid in his first start.

Speaker 7 (47:44):
Right, he was great?

Speaker 3 (47:45):
Yeah, all right, Well, we'll see what goes. The pitching
factory continues to roll with the Astros. I'm more concerned
with the hitting side, especially as it relates not to
winning the American League West, which I think they're gonna
do already. When it comes to facing the best pitching
in baseball, can you come up with hits? That's where
I want yord On back. That's where you need Jeremy
Penia back, and that's where I think they need to

(48:07):
to shore up the lineup with another.

Speaker 7 (48:08):
Bat anything else, Mike.

Speaker 13 (48:12):
Yeah, as much as I like Chav McCormick, I think
i'd rather have Tromel.

Speaker 1 (48:17):
All right.

Speaker 7 (48:18):
The good news is you got both of them. I
mean they're both they're both.

Speaker 3 (48:21):
Playing, that's what They're both gonna get big roles right now.

Speaker 7 (48:24):
So we'll Jest hasn't been an absolute.

Speaker 3 (48:27):
He's been pretty good. He's got a few hits. He's
come back.

Speaker 8 (48:30):
So let's uh, let's get Cole in here to wrap
things up.

Speaker 7 (48:35):
Cole, what's up man?

Speaker 18 (48:37):
How you doing today?

Speaker 7 (48:40):
What you got?

Speaker 18 (48:41):
Well, Unfortunately, Mike just stole my question. I was gonna
ask who y'all thinks can get stinted down. So we've
got four starters coming under doing rehab since right now,
and you've got Jake Myers that should be back, Jeremy
Penie should be back soon. I mean, who knows what
jord on. But I mean, Mike kind of just stole
my question right out from under me.

Speaker 3 (49:00):
That's very rude.

Speaker 8 (49:01):
Yeah, I think I think it's an easy ques. It's
an easy question to answer, Cole. I mean, look look
at look at who's on the forty men and who's
on the active roster. I mean to me, it's you know,
it's all the guys that are filling in right now.
I mean, the tougher question will be, yeah, what do
you do with the Colton, Gordon, Ryan Gusto, you know, uh,
Brandon Walter that those when when push comes to shove

(49:23):
on getting some more pictures back. But all the other
ones make sense. I mean, when when Jeremy Penny gets back,
you're gonna send back one of these, absolutely, Zach Short
or whoever you know. I mean, all those are pretty obvious.
I mean, let's not forget we do have John Singleton
sitting up here, not even doing anything.

Speaker 18 (49:41):
I don't know how I feel about that either, though.

Speaker 3 (49:45):
That's it's okay.

Speaker 7 (49:46):
I think you feel exactly how you should feel.

Speaker 3 (49:48):
I would have rather, I would rather have Victor Karattini
at first today than Singleton. When multiple people clamoring for Singleton,
I don't get it. It's not I don't know why
the fan bases acting like the dudes hit four hundred
home run, like what are we doing here?

Speaker 18 (50:02):
And I guess I'll switch up my question and go,
what would y'all realistic ideal game one of the postseason
b if we make it or when we make it,
let me reiterate that.

Speaker 7 (50:14):
Thanks cool. Did who your hand of the ball to?

Speaker 3 (50:17):
Yeah, I would say right now, it's Fromber We'll see
if Hunter can.

Speaker 7 (50:20):
Turn it around Hunter of Fromber over Hunter.

Speaker 3 (50:23):
I would also depend on you know who? If is
it the Tigers that have a bunch of lefties I'm
trying to remember. I mean, it's not like they would
be the facing the Tigers in the first round anyways,
unless you know, I mean who does things could shuffle
around a bit. But depending on who you're facing, who
do you want to to me? It's it. That's exactly
what it had come down to. Actually, if as long
as Hunter Brown turns things around, which I think he can.

(50:46):
I think he showed some flashes in his last dart,
striking out five for five of his first six outs
recorded by strikeout, had a good little bit of bad luck.
So if he can continue to turn it around and
look like an ace, then you.

Speaker 7 (50:57):
I'm going what he's done all seasons.

Speaker 3 (51:00):
Okay, but in the moment that's fine. But well, Frommer
has been better this season overall, and he's got more
playoff experience. Now he also has more playoff bad starts,
and Hunter Brown's start was good and that happened last
year in the playoffs.

Speaker 7 (51:12):
Rob started Game one and and.

Speaker 3 (51:16):
And Fromber has been spotting in the playoffs times before,
that's for sure. But I would, I would honestly go.
But based on matchups, it would come down to, I
have a guy who's one of the most dominant lefties
in baseball, and the guy who's one of the most
dominant right right, he's in baseball. You're the best one
two punch in baseball. Let's go matchup.

Speaker 7 (51:35):
Who has a better right now?

Speaker 3 (51:37):
It's Fromber in it Brown. Okay, it's close though, Okay, shut.

Speaker 8 (51:43):
Up, but still you act you're acting like Robber is
far and away better.

Speaker 3 (51:48):
More strikeouts, Yes he does, and he has a better
walk rate. But I just feel like I I also,
I feel more confident and fromervel does right now. But
I you know, three weeks ago, I would have said.

Speaker 7 (51:59):
Hunter Brown, Yeah, playoff on start July.

Speaker 3 (52:01):
Twenty exactly exactly, So I don't have to make this
decision now.

Speaker 7 (52:04):
All right, Well, we'll see. Astros did this official.

Speaker 8 (52:08):
They did announce their draft class Draft class signings they've
signed eighteen draft picks and eight non drafted free agents
that becoming official. So their first round pick Xavier and
Ninons is in Ethan Fry from LS She was in
and on and so forth. So grandson Grayson Saunier is

(52:28):
a Saunier kid from Texas.

Speaker 7 (52:31):
Yea SI seventeen round pick.

Speaker 3 (52:33):
How do the University of Texas I normally get into
the get into this season about super regionals and well
they didn't make it to the super regionals.

Speaker 8 (52:40):
Well, look, I mean, you know one thing about Texas,
They're gonna be really good to get some seventeenth.

Speaker 7 (52:46):
Round picks in there. So I think, as your guy
in the third though, that might.

Speaker 3 (52:50):
Be a lot of their top guys are staying, you know,
good and call it and their ace their ace had
shoulder surgery.

Speaker 7 (52:56):
Ethan Fry will play in the outfield for the Astros
next year.

Speaker 3 (52:59):
How about oh my god, there's no way I need
an LSU.

Speaker 8 (53:02):
Gap here, come on whatever, Well you're right to, I
mean it's not crazy. Look at all the guys who've
quick guys up. Smith Dave Smith was played at eleven
months ago.

Speaker 3 (53:13):
It's still kind of rare.

Speaker 7 (53:15):
All right, we will leave it.
