Speaker 1 (00:00):
Gordy.
Speaker 2 (00:00):
Final fifteen minutes of the game, you're down by nineteen.
Texans score a touchdown two point conversion. As you just heard,
I need to explain it all right there, All right, okay, fine,
you're down at that point by eleven. That's that's all good.
Another touchdown, but you missed the two points. So then
you're like, all right, well, the field goal is not
going to tie this thing up, so you're gonna have
(00:22):
to get in the end zone if you're gonna do
it again. And then final drive of the game. I
think there's like six minutes left or something like that,
and on a third and ten, Davis Mills finding Dalton
Schultz to keep the drive alive. Then you start running
the football, and you start running the football well, and
you get into the red zone again. And then a
(00:45):
false start on Trent Brown and then another one which
I believe was on the left guard. It was not
on Ursery. I thought that it was on Ursery, but
I think it was Aaron Wilson. I pointed it out
to me afterwards that wasn't the case. But moral of
the story is two false starts right there, and then
Davis Mills with Wex sitting right next to me and
we's going get rid of the football and I was like, no, no, no, no, no,
(01:07):
let them cook, let him, let let him go. Wes
come on and he dives and gets in and You're
just like, oh my god. Like it seriously was one
of those as we're riding the elevator to go into
the locker room, I'm just like, did we just see
what we saw? Like it seriously seemed unbelievable. Yeah, it certainly.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
I mean the way that game played out yesterday, at
least for the first three quarters, basically.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
You Texans were not gonna win that game.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
I mean, Jacksonville came out like the hungrier team, and
they were executing early and making all the plays they
needed to and you just it did it didn't feel good.
And if you'd asked me, did they have any chance
to come back in this with Davis Mills, I mean,
didn't he let me start the game with an interception?
Speaker 1 (01:58):
Like third past the game? Third play the game? I
didn't play of the game.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
I was just like, they have no chance today, this
is this isn't gonna happen. And you know they tear
it over on downs the end of the third quarter,
Jacksonville goes and scores a touchdown. It's twenty nine to ten.
I mean, you were like, this is it. But when
they put together that fourth that touchdown drive to start
the fourth quarter and they make it twenty nine to eighteen,
(02:24):
You're like, Okay, maybe maybe they have an outside chance.
Thirty it out for Jacksonville. Another touchdown drive. You're like,
oh my god, they're going to have a chance in this.
Another three it out for Jacksonville. And you go on
that fourteen play ninety three, I mean they they punt
it to your what the seven yard line? I mean, yeah,
you have to go ninety three yards again. I'm like,
(02:45):
the improbability of this With Davis Mills a quarterback, they're
not gonna get this done. Absolutely unbelievable. Credit the defense
for turning it up a notch. They did something in
the fourth quarter they adn't done all game. They got
stops and it just was, you know, it was exactly
it was exactly what you needed to keep the season alive.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
But I'm still in shock.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
At what we saw now, and I think there's a
lot of people that are. I mean, Davis Mills yesterday
twenty seven to forty five two hundred and ninety two yards.
He does have that interception, as he mentioned. I mean
that's the other part of it, too, is that this
game started about as poorly as it could possibly start.
Then you get the punt return touchdown to where Parker
Washington decides I'm gonna stop at the one and then
(03:30):
fall backward into the end zone because there's just nobody
near me that you're just like, oh god, And I
mean you want to talk about boo birds flying in
that building with the way that the offense was operating
in that first half, I mean, it is exactly why
I threw it on Twitter. I was like, you're going
to run out of things to boo about, like there's
nothing more to boo about, and it almost it's kind
(03:52):
of one of those as a fan, like you get
to a point where you're like, why am I even
still booing? Like they're just not good enough? R What
does it matter at this point? And look, credit to
a lot of the fans there. I mean you did
see a good amount of people there when Jacksonville got
their final score there in the third quarter that we're like,
all right, I'm calling it.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
This is enough. This is good. But then I threw
it out on Twitter.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
I go, does the day man himself, Charlie O'Day, he's
look like as the Texans offensive coordinator, bless you by
the way, as the Texans offensive coordinators is you have
twenty points in them?
Speaker 1 (04:30):
Oh he did.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
He had exactly twenty points in them, and so did
Davis Mills and the Texans able to pull this off.
And oh, by the way, too, you were a point
and a half favorite, I believe heading into that game.
So if you were on the Texans side of things yesterday,
thanks Sheldon Rankins for helping you out with that too,
(04:52):
because it was not only a Texans win, it was
also a Texans cover.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
That was a little bit of an exclamation point there
on the end, but it Yeah, I just like again,
credit credit the guys for not quittingit. Credit the defense
for waking the hell up. Daniel Hunter having three and
a half sacks, He's been a god, said Will Anderson.
Another game, another sack. It's like he does this every
(05:18):
every single week he gets one. But d Dale Hunter,
I mean, he was the he was the player of
the game there in the fourth quarter, getting getting those
big sacks on Trevor Lawrence. But I also think you
gotta you gotta blame Jacksonville a little bit. They got
away from what they were doing. They got comfy, they went, ah,
nineteen points, we got this, and then they just kind
of went into a cocoon and it was like, if
(05:41):
you guys want to win, I want to hang on
and win this, you gotta do something to move the football.
And like I said, credit the Texans defense. They turned
it up a notch and and got after it. But Jacksonville, really,
I mean, they're they're gonna be watching a film today
going how did we lose this game?
Speaker 1 (05:59):
I mean, it's almost to a point.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
And you hope that this is the case with Texans
because you go on the road, you take on the
Titans next week, you should be good in that one.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
I think even with Davis.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Mills as as your starter, which I would probably guess
with a short week turn around against the Bills, that
they're probably going to slow play this thing with CJ
coming back, maybe even Jalen Petrie, Titus Howard two. But
I mean, you sack Trevor Lawrence five times yesterday. Daniel
Hunter was absolutely unbelievable and at the height too, because
(06:32):
you now, like, we love to do the win probability game.
I was just looking at it right here on ESPN
at the height for Jacksonville thirteen oh four left to go.
I think the Texans at the time were facing a
third and two. It was a ninety eight point four
win probability for the Jaguars at that point. And then
you start to see the markets start to correct itself
(06:56):
and it's going down and down and down and down,
and then finally Davis Mills runs it in the d
N zone and you're like, oh my god, the Texans
are gonna win this game, although you weren't completely out
of the woods yet because of all of the things
that went well for you in the second half. Special
teams coverage was just a little bit of an issue
yesterday for the Texans, just a little bit, And you're
(07:18):
thinking to yourself, You're like, if they get this ball
to the fifty yard line, they're gonna run Cam Little
out there and he's gonna try the game winner. And
he was, by the way, four for four in his
career on game winning field goals.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
Yeah, oh yeah, he scared the hell out of me.
They say, they're like in the preseason, he made a
seventy yarder. I'm like, oh my god, Like, if they
even get near midfield, he's got a chance to do this.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
So he had the field goal wiped away because of
the Deniko Uchery personal foul, which I think it was
trying to leverage on the snapper, and I mean, I
want to say it was like a fifty three yarder
that he nailed hit the net like halfway up the net.
I was like, okay, you know this this this guy's
got quite a leg on him.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
So he was really good at Arkansas and he's he's
gotten even better in the in the pros.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
So it's will to across.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
You know, I'm watching these college games over the weekend
and these kickers are missing thirty yarders and stuff. The
NFL is just they have up the level of what
you what you got to be to kick in the NFL.
Remember it was always like, Eh, told my son to
go go kick a football. You know how much money
you can make this kicker in the NFL. Well, now
you got to be like awesome. You got to be
able to like regularly make forty five plus fifty yard
(08:32):
field goals and uh yeah, that was that was. It
was a little bit of a scary moment. But again,
Texans defense just getting after it. Yes, they were the
edges again.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
Willie Anderson Junior and Daneil Hunter both outstanding for the
Texans yesterday. And I mean, you know another thing is
too is uh Jag fans are in their feelings, man,
they are. They are deep in their feelings. I almost
kind of feel like they're Seattle Mariner fan like on Twitter,
and they were firing right there at the half and
(09:04):
even when they're up by nineteen. I mean I even
saw one guy that freezing Cold takes called out this
morning about what a great win you sweep the series
against those Texans, and then it's just say, hmm, not so.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
Fast, my friend.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
Sorry, you get outscored twenty six to nothing in the
final fifteen minutes of the game.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
Take the l enjoy it, and really all it does
for the Texans at this point it just keeps your
season alive. I think a loss would have, you know,
three and six you're all but done. So at least
four and five you're still alive, but still a lot
of work to do. And you could sider I mean
(09:44):
the Baltimore Ravens are four and five. Now the Chiefs
are five and four, the Jags are five and four.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
So you ain't out of the woods yet.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
You still got a lot of work to do with
you know, some tough games ahead and a road trip
to Tennessee this week isn't doesn't look scary.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
But again C J.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
Strang is going to be back, Aaron Wilson said last
week it could be multiple weeks. So celebrate the win, certainly,
but this does not mean by any means your season
is is not over.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
It's you still got a lot of work to do
that you do.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
So, as mentioned, you get the Tennessee Titans this weekend,
and then you've got the short turnaround against the Buffalo Bills,
who boy looked bad like you getting them. That could
be the possibility. So hopefully that is the case for
the Texans. But they pick up the win. Four and
five now on this season, much better than three and six.
(10:41):
They were staring it right in the face yesterday and
able to say not four and five sounds better, and
that's exactly what they do, thirty six to twenty nine
the final over there at NRG Stadium yesterday. You also
got the Rockets picking up a nice win over the weekend.
We'll get into them as the show goes along in
Texas Tech and texts Am. They are legit. I don't
(11:03):
think there's any question about that. So we'll get into
a little bit of college football too later on as
the show goes along. But seven one three, two one
two five, seven ninety is the number to get in.
You've been waiting to brag on these Texans. Once you
start bragging on them today, we'll allow it for sure. Absolutely,
you should be bragging today. You should feel good about
this one because that is a very very nice finish
(11:26):
to that one, and a reason to feel at least
a little bit better about this team this season. So
we'll discuss all of that here. But credit given credit
earned yesterday for these group of Texans, we'll discuss right here.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
As we're just getting going.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
On a Monday edition of the seven ninety morning show
