Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, I mean, you've got the division leaders right now.
You got Buffalo as well as New England. They're both
tied right now at four and two. But then you
look at the wild card standings. You got Jacksonville at
four and two, You've got Denver at foreign two, you
got New England at four and two, and then Texans
at two and three, and in the middle between them
at number eight is the Kansas City Chiefs. You play

(00:20):
Kansas City later on the season, but in terms of
the teams, they can overtake. You can beat Jacksonville at
home easily. You can beat Jacksonville at home. You should
have beat him at their place. But you play just
slightly better. You beat the Jags this time around. What
I saw this last week from Denver and bo Nicks.
He's fine, he's not great. You get into a quarterback battle,

(00:42):
who do I trust more?

Speaker 2 (00:43):
CJ.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Stroud or that guy? I trust that guy. Defense is awesome, though,
Benito is really good. And yes, I mean against this
Texans offensive line, who is improved. We went over that yesterday,
but still at home. I really do like your chances
of being able to beat Denver. So now it comes
down to for the Texans. These two that you have
coming up where the Monday night at Seattle, that could
be tough. But then you come back home for San

(01:04):
Francisco San Francisco four and two as well. I still
if it's Mac Jones, feel like you've got a good
shot in that game. And we've said that probably three
and one. We had Aaron Wilson on with us last
week and he said that very thing he said three
and one is probably what you're gonna need to be
able to be serious about a playoff. Push two and

(01:25):
two is the absolute minimum that you can do.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
To shit you. That's it. You're at five and four
and five.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
If you do that, I just okay, you come back
home and beat or you come out of that, you
go to Tennessee, you win that one. You're five and five.
I mean, it's just you. You really dug yourself a
hole here and losing those first three. But that's where
the tie breakers come into play. Of beat Jacksonville one
and one, then what comes down to divisional record, there's

(01:52):
some other tiebreaker. But Denver, I mean, have a chance
to be able to effectively knock them out.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Of that game against Denver is almost a must win.
Like you put yourself in.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
That's not almost it is, especially if you go one
and one and anythinga's next to Let's say you lose
in Seattle next Monday night and you're two and four.
I mean, then you're saying you have to come back
home and beat sand Fran, you have to beat Deadver
at home, and you have to beat Jacksonville. I mean
you basically say you gotta go three and oh on
that homestand and then at Tennessee is winnable. But Buffalo

(02:24):
is gonna be tough, at Kansas City's gonna be tough.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
At the Chargers are all gonna be tough.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
Those are those a brutal And we're not even counting
the two games against the Colts here and there. So yeah, man,
this is this is a big game. I mean, look,
the offenses look competent ever since the second half against
Tennessee and then obviously what they did the Baltimore last
time out. But we're gonna have to have that competent
offense in Seattle on Monday night.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
You're just gonna have to.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
And to your point about the early on the season
falling behind oh and three, I mean losing to La Okay,
it's not great losing the Tampa Bay same deal both
the NFC teams.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Tampa game, aphel it. You feel you should have won
Tampa game, You should have won the jackson.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
You should have been You honestly, very easily could be
four and one right now, because I mean, I understand
those are close games, and it's Demiko Ryans afterwards.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
We're close.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Well, you're not close enough because you're zero and three,
so I'm not really sure that that's gonna fly with
your fan base. But yeah, Tampa, your defense holds on
right there. You gotta win Jacksonville. Your offense played awful.
Your offense was non existent except for one deep pass
play to Nico Collins. Aside from that, you were a
non factor in that game. And you still had a
chance to win that game. So those things hopefully improving

(03:36):
for you lead you to believe that, yeah, going through
this stretch, three and one should be doable for you.
And if you do that, you're a playoff team. If
you don't, if you're anything less than two and two
in these next four games, then it is going to
be an even larger uphill climb for you.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Anthony, just John Denny said, you know, Buffalo doesn't really
scare me.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
They haven't shown me anything.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
I mean, look, Buffalo kids in Sidi are both in
concer stint right now.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
But do you really want to bank on Yeah, this
will be easy wins.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Like Josh freaking Alley could golf at any given moment,
Pat Maholmes could do Pat mahomes.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Things any given moment.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
Alan up until that interception, until you know, at the
end of the game last night, it looked like it was,
oh my gosh, he's gonna be able to find a
way to get them into the end zone. And then
watch they recover the on side kick here, and then
it gets really nervous there inside the building. But then
Falcons able to get that tip pass, and then I
just look at quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
The next four quarterbacks you Facer, Sam Darnold, likely Mac Jones.
I don't know if brock Party's gonna be back in
two weeks, Bo Nicks and Trevor Lawrence, like these should
be you have.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
The advantage at all four of these games.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
I mean, I mentioned with with Denver and Nick showed
some good things last year, but I mean this year
he's been mid at best. I mean in last week.
He was not good whatsoever the game. That game was
an utter disgrace to watch. And you know that San
frank game is gonna mean a little bit something extra. Tamiko,
Well both, he's gonna want to stick it to them. Yeah, both,

(05:04):
and then the head coach and the DC on their side,
they used to be inside this building too, So yeah,
I'm sure there's probably a little bit of that involved.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
I would just say, you want to get to mid
no if you could be a game or two above
five hundred mid November.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
You're feeling really good.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
But I mean the motivation is already there though, even
for that San Francisco game is Yeah, you're in the
point right now where losses are no longer.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Something that you can stomach as much.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
I mean, you with that zero to three start, losses
really start to stack up for you.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
Now where then you look at it, Oh, we're at four,
we're at five.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Six, I mean seven, seems like it's probably the base
layer that you can fall down to. You get to
nine and eight, then you start needing some help. You're
ten and seven. You're probably in a good position.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
Do you feel pretty good about the teams behind the
Texans that they're not gonna do anything. The Bengals are
two and four, Raiders are two and four. I don't
feel like that we're gonna do anything. The Ravens that
won in five, they keep saying, well, we get Lamar back,
but John Harbaugh's that's not gonna happen. The Dolphins are
going nowhere fats and one in five. The Browns are

(06:14):
one and five, the Titans one and five, and the
Jets o and six. So it will feel good all
those teams.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
The Texans are the last one that really have a
serious chance here. You you've pretty much got nine teams
that are playing for anything. Because yeah, I mean, I
think the Raiders will win some games, but I'm not
looking to Gino Smith and the Raiders to be a
team that's going to be able to do much in
terms of overtaking you.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
No.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
I just saw the Titans. I guess they had a
press conference with their president and GM. We are looking
for growth right now. We did not see that at
this point. It's wild that it's wild that you have
a coach comes in has a rough first year, you
suck so bad to get a top pick in the draft,
and you take your franchise quarterback, and then you even
give that guy a whole year to work with that

(07:02):
new quarterback.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
It's kind of like the offensive coordinator who says, we're
not very good at running this offense right now, Well,
then that must mean you're not very good chief. Yeah,
that's always my favorite. Well it's like, isn't that what
you are? So your horse bleep.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
It's like David Cully and who is the that poor
guy was in a hostage situation and love smith that
you shake both their hands. You go, hey, guys, thank
you all for sucking so we could get CJ.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
Stroud.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
But unfortunately you won't be a part of the CJ.
Stroud era, but we thank you guys for getting us
to David Strowdery.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
I mean, obviously I wasn't here for that, but I
saw it from a distance and it's just every single
one of his press conferences. I was like, seriously, like,
is this guy gonna like start reading off hostage demands?

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Like it's seriously what it looks like?

Speaker 3 (07:46):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (07:46):
Jackson g I mean, Nick's the GM, you know, so
he brought a positive at it. Dude.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
That's the one thing you could say about David Cully.
He came every day. He was like, I am just
so happy to be here. They were like, yeah, because
you've never no one else would have ever you it's.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
To be a head coach.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
So a buddy of mine was a player on the
Chiefs when he was there, so I asked him. I said, hey,
I see this Culleigue guy came from there. He goes,
I can't believe he's a head coach. Kind of like
what you're saying about your buddy about Brian cally in
with the Bengals. Yeah, we don't really know what this
guy does. So good luck Tennessee, I guess.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
So.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
Yeah, I mean, look, sometimes it works out. I mean,
you know, you get certain coaches hired and like, I'm
sure when John Harball got hired in Baltimore special teams guy,
I mean, I understand he's got a Harrorball name, but really.

Speaker 3 (08:32):
Years David Cully say it was his dream to be
the head coach of his high school when he was
like growing up, Like, oh, okay, dude, if that's where
your dreams and aspirations are, then I don't know if
the NFL is for you.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
What an NFL head coach?

Speaker 1 (08:46):
What a time in this organization's History's Deshawn's our franchise quarterback.
He doesn't want to be here, Well we'll make him
be here. Well, we'll put him out there a scout
team as a safety.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
I swear to David Cully better write a book like
I would love to read that book about like well,
I was dealing with I was dealing with the ownership
that didn't really seem to support me much. And then
I was also dealing with the team chaplain that came
in and he was calimbing his way up behind the scenes,
basically a team president. It's like a youth pastor. And

(09:21):
I had a quarterback running out getting massages And.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
Is that what you're calling him? That's what you're going
with massages? Well, inappropriate massage. There you go, there you go.
But it's just like I want to hear his side
of that story.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
Well, I mean you did kind of try to get
into it with them when we ran into him ad
sec media days.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
Nice guy. He took the high road with it, which
I mean he should what because.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
He got his payday and he sets on the beach
every day enjoying retired.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
Life and look getting fired from certain jobs and get
like getting fired from others, and coaching is one of them.
You know, hey, we didn't like the job he did.
All right, what's my buyout? Seventeen million?

Speaker 2 (09:55):
Can I see?

Speaker 3 (09:56):
Can I tell you the people in this across this
country that are anti billionaires and protesting and all this
kind of stuff, Oh we hate the billionaires. Where are
you when these coaches are getting fifty million dollar buyouts?
Go storm James Franklin's law and go, how dare you,
sir taking that money? Let's say that too loud. I'm
sure that's probably next.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
I just it's insane. You get seventy money away?

Speaker 3 (10:22):
Yeah, what are these eighties thinking? Mark Steudsai Kentucky's doing
a terrible job right now. He has a thirty eight
million dollar buyout and he's probably gonna get it.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
Representation works, brother, That is insane, insane.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
Look, we do it all the time, and we do
it especially with athletes where it's you know, oh, we're
over paying this guy. You did pay him, I mean
nobody made you do it. You did it, nobody did
Oh no, But you know what, screw the athlete for
taking that money. It's because he knew that he was
going to become a declining player. No, you offer the
medium money. I look at it and I'm like, hey,

(10:56):
this is much more than I could have even imagined. Yeah, sure,
I'll take your money.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
If somebody asks you, what's your dream job, my dream
job is to be a fired college football coach.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
That's my dream job.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
Well, stick to those aspirations, Cordy. Maybe one day it'll
pan out for you. All right, speaking of coaches getting fired,
I mean touched on a little bit, but let's explain
on a little bit more. If you want to get fired,
I would say that this is the easiest way to
do it. We'll discuss right here as it is a
