Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's talk some Textans with Aaron Wilson here and a
dub Let's go ahead and get it started up. I
know that you guys talked with Dimiko and CJ yesterday.
The offense, I mean, let's just start with the last
few weeks. Is it one of those that it looks
like it can, you know, carry on for the rest
of the season or is it kind of going to
be a week to week thing with this team.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
I think we don't know enough yet because we haven't
seen them tested. That is kind of the junior varsity
the Titans and the Ravens, So I think against a
outstanding defense with a creative front where they do a
lot of stunts like the seahawkss is kind of more
of a limus test or truly see what's the offense,
(00:42):
what's the general expectation is going to kind of come
down to earth? Or is that the Texans standard that
we can expect. So I really feel like it's hard
to judge based on what the Ravens put out there
that did not look like an NFL defense, the Titans
basically Jeffrey Simmons and not a lot else. So yeah,
(01:03):
I feel like we do need to see this game,
and I think this will be the next few weeks
kind of approving ground for the Texans and kind of
defining are they going to be a contender? They gonna
be kind of a five hundred team if they're like
a win one, lose one. The next few weeks, yeah,
we'll know a lot more and we're going to kind
of like, Okay, well, playoffs are very unlikely scenario for
(01:23):
the Texans. They catch fire, if they continue, if they
make this a three game winning streak and even their
record and get out of the losing column, I think
we got to take them a lot more seriously. But yeah,
right now, I just don't think the jury is out
a little bit. Dolphense couldn't look better in the last
five quarters of football, But I think it's a small
(01:44):
sample size. I just feel like we need a little
more information. I want to see how they look on
Monday Night football against the Seahawks. I'm really curious to find.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
Out Aaron, when you look currently, everyone's been talking about
the running back position Nick Chubb Woody marks when it
comes to carries. We saw in Week four seventeen carries
sixty nine yards. One rushing touchdown? How to passing touchdown?
From what he marks two weeks ago against Baltimore seven carries,
twenty four yards. He was in there for I think
thirty one total snaps. It was more so back to
Nick Chubb. There's a frustration because of people are wondering,
(02:14):
if there's a trade deadline coming on up, do you
have to add in a running back? Is this one
of those games where you kind of have to figure out,
what do we have in Windy Marx, what do we
have in Nick Chubb? And if neither one is going
to be able to be the lead back, do we
start making some phone calls to guys like New York
and New Orleans for maybe an Alvin Kamara or a
Breasee Hall Right.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
I don't anticipate that scenario. I think that, well, it's
popular to kind of make that leap to say, oh, well,
they're running back away. I don't think they are. I
think that this tandem can work, and I just don't
see them burning through more draft capital to make those
(02:55):
kind of moves. You know, maybe if there was a
player for player situation, I'm just not sure. Looking at
the text, you know that they're going to get that
much for say like a Christian Harris. I'm just not
saying that he's on the blox, just saying if he was,
I don't see them getting a lot in return. You're
not going straight up. And then it consider likes to
make trades the thing that he won't, But I'm not
(03:16):
sure that those are the guys that he's going to
make a move for. They were also got to kind
of see what's their record, you know, if they lose
a few more games, I can't see to me like, okay,
let's do it. I can also see them wanting to
get some picks back. Maybe if they could dump a
player for a pick, that to me feels a little
(03:37):
more like in the Caceio kind of move.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
When you look currently at CJ. Stroud good game last week,
four touchdowns over two hundred passing yards. He has a
passer rating has last two appearances over one hundred and
thirty six. The weak point for Seattle, if there was one, defensively,
is their pass coverage.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
What do you think is.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
Going to be the game plan going into this matchup?
And how do you see maybe a wider if you're
outside of Nico Collins having a bigger performance in this matchup.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
Yeah, Christian Kirk, he started to pick up a bit
this pass game. I could see them doing some quick
games things. I can see them trying to get the
football out the Shultze could see picking up a little bit.
One of the things about the Seahawks, They're going to
run these line stunts and you have to stop the
fast penetration they're capable of, especially up the middle with
Byron Murphy and Leonard Williams. So what you do to
(04:27):
counteract that? You want to run outside? You get to
run some outside zone, You run some of the gap players.
They like to run, but I feel like you need
to hit them at the edges, and you also need
to just have some things that are almost like a
handoff in terms of a short pass. I think that
you can set up some things, you can get your
play action going, and you can have some of the
(04:48):
mistirection players that obviously Nick Kylee likes to employ. We're
seeing quite a few of them in recent weeks. Some
wrinkles in the offense. I think that's how you attack
the Seahawks. But it all starts with blocking. And this
is an offensive line's growing in confidence. You've seen that
from kind of the interviews with Ed Ingram Titus Howard
(05:08):
this week. I think they're coming together here, but it just,
you know, what the Ravens put out there, you just
can't really look at that. I mean, their pass rush
is extremely disorganized right now, lacking a lot of talent.
So it's different what you're going to see this game
and the interior lines. We really tested what the Seahawks
(05:33):
have out there. They've put together a really good group
and they're well coached. With Mike McDonald running the show,
I think, you know, the game plan has got to
be protect the quarterback first, and as Miko said, they're
going to try to establish the run, so they'll try
to run the ball.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
His is the voice of our seven ninety Insider for
the Texans. He is Aaron Wilson. He also does some
work with kPr C too. You can find them on Twitter.
Ad Aaron Wilson underscore NFL and I mean it is
kind of a twofold to what you're just talking about
with Cole right there, Aaron, of those twists and stunts
and how stout they are defensively upfront, and I mean
(06:13):
just kind of ways to counteract that with the Texans
D If they come out of Monday Night scheme and
they lose offensively, what do you think is going to
be the storyline?
Speaker 2 (06:23):
That they couldn't stop the penetration, that they weren't able
to have a high completion percentage, they got into long
down to distance, they fall back on penalties, if they
have a turnover. Those are the things if they lose,
it'll it'll be because of those reasons. It's not going
to be because they're just better. You know, the Seahawks
(06:44):
are overwhelming to them. I think it's going to be
about self inflict to theirs if the Texans can't win
this game or be competitive. In my opinion, you know,
we're seeing them, you know, kind of maybe finding some
kind of formula and it's just going to be a
man of can you keep it up? Like you can
kind of tell from listening to CJ, listening to Tomko.
(07:06):
They think they've got a plan. And you know, J
wouldn't refer what they're throwing out, but he made some
references to you know, his analysis and what works, what
doesn't work, and shelving some things, so y sothing. He's
intrigally involved in how they're building the game plan for
this game and going forward to the rest of the season.
(07:29):
It's interesting to kind of be between the linpus on
this comments.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
Got about a minute left, Aaron and Jackson Smith and
Jigba is putting together a pretty nice little season. Do
you think it's more about him or do you think that,
I mean, we found out last year. Sam Darnold is
actually a capable good NFL quarterback.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
I mean, this is a really real, legitimate talent and
number one wide receiver, one of the best receivers, the
leading yardage guy in the NFL. And you know he
saw what do you in Ohio State, especially that Rose
game when he was catching pass from CJ. I look
at him and I think he's bigger, stronger, He does
a lot of things. He's a great route runner. He's
(08:09):
very well coached, coming from the Buckeye program. You know,
I think Donald is a pretty good quarterback. He puts
up some numbers at times, a rhythm passer, pocket guy
for the most part, and this guy really suits him.
But you know, it doesn't surprise me. I mean, you've
seen him feed Justin Jefferson before. So when you have
a receiver like that, it's like a off the charts
(08:31):
guy that's you know, all pro type of material. Then
Donald he's more than capable of taking advantage of that.
But yeah, it's mostly about JSN. He's the talent and
Donald he's the vehicle for getting him the football. Donald's
not going to the Hall of Fame, but maybe JSM
Well one day. This guy is a special receiver and
(08:55):
I would put Derrick Stingley Jr. And On him and
have him follow him all over the field. I think
that's their recipe for this one. We'll see if they
choose to do that. And we've talked to Stingley yesterday.
Looks think he's excited for the matchup. There you go.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
We'll be staying up late watching that matchup and this
game as a whole on Monday night when the Texans
take on the Seahawks in Seattle. He is again our
seven to ninety Texans insider, also doing work with KPRC two.
He's Aaron Wilson. You can find him on Twitter at
Aaron Wilson underscore nfl ap. Appreciate it always.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
Man.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
We'll catch up with you again next week to recap
this one and then get ready for the first of
three at NRG Stadium for the Texans.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
Thanks guys, have a great weekend.
