Speaker 1 (00:00):
Alrighty, Labor Day weekend.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
It is Labor Day weekend. It is, and it's about time.
We got papers all over this desk. I got so
many things I want to talk about today. That goes
to the back of this list. This goes to the front,
and that piece of paper comes right out here.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
We have a lot to unpack.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Opening day of dove season coming up coincides with Labor Day. First, well,
dove season, let me put this piece of paper over here.
A dove season is September one, traditionally has been for
as long as I've been around, and that will be
the North and Central zones, and then everything else between

(00:47):
now in February or March is gonna just fall into line,
and we're all gonna have a great time and a
safe time in the outdoors. We are gonna be talking
about safety. It's a holiday weekend, and holiday weekends sadly
tend to be problematic because it's kind of like holidays

(01:11):
in the in the food and beverage business, especially the
bar business, in that it's it's amateur hour. We used
to call back in the one hundred years ago when
I was a bartender serving grog in the in I'm
trying to think of someplace where they would have served

(01:33):
grog a thousand years ago, but I can't think of
one off hand, Frankie, can you help me with that?
Where would where would a bartender have been pouring wine
out of a cask out of a big barrel medieval times?
That's where I'm going.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Yeah, that's the best I can do off hand.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
So the the amateurs come out on New Year's Eve,
they're out in the outdoors. That's in the bar business.
In the outdoors. Fourth of July, Memorial Day weekend, Labor
Day weekend, any opportunity where people who don't who aren't

(02:20):
just addicted to the outdoors find it a great idea
to go out. And let's just go start up the boat.
It's been sitting up there at the lake house all
summer long and we haven't used it yet. Why do
we even have it. Somebody in the family's going to
say that, and the other person in the family's going
to say, who's running the family anyway, is going to say,

(02:41):
because we need it, because we want to be on it.
We want to go have fun at the lake or
down at the bay. And so they hop on the
boat and they haven't been on it in months, if
not years, and they mess up. They get do a
little drinking. Oh one or two beers isn't going to
bother me at all. Look back in the afternoon, they're

(03:01):
about a six pack in and one thing after another happens.
This past Labor Day one year ago, Wardens according to
the Texas Parks and Wildlife Departments newsletter that I got
a press release. Get these twice a year. I get
them on Labor Day weekend, and I get them on

(03:22):
Memorial Day weekend. This one last year during Labor Day weekend,
Wardens reported nine boating accidents, one boating related fatality, and
one open water drowning, five arrests by the way for
bwy and one minor for boating under the influence.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Now, with all the boats on the water.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
In Texas, five hundred and sixty thousand registered boats, that's
the ones with the motors and big enough to have
to have the TX letters on them, and then there's
another three hundred and fifty nine thousand that says here
estimated because they're not registered, unregistered paddle craft navigating Texas waters.

(04:14):
You would think that those numbers are pretty dog on
low oh, well, they only had They only had nine
boating accidents all over the entire state of Texas. They
only had one boating related fatality, one open water drowning.
That sounds pretty good to me. I'm not me. To

(04:36):
somebody else, it doesn't sound good to me at all,
because somebody died.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
Somebody died.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
At least nine boating accidents mean that people probably got
banged around a little bit. Maybe their boats were the
only things that took damage. But there's just no reason
for that. There's just no reason for any of that
to happen. And I would be willing to bet than
in those boating accidents and probably in that fatality. Maybe

(05:08):
not so much in the open water drowning, but I
would bet that alcohol was involved in in those accidents,
in that fatality. The good news is for hunters, since
we got dove season opening up on Monday, the good
news for hunters is that our former reputation as whiskey

(05:32):
swigging rowdies who are out there and the just walking
around in the in the woods with guns over our
shoulders or at the ready worse, that's not how it
is anymore. And I got into hunting when there were
quite a few people who still did see nothing wrong

(05:53):
with having a couple of having a couple of pops
out there in the dove field, or having a having
a little flask up in the deer stay. Well, either
either that's been remedied by education, or I'm just not
hunting with those people anymore. And I can assure you
I'm not gonna hang around and hunt with people who

(06:15):
do a lot do any drinking while the guns are out.
It just makes no sense at all. I can't I
can't see putting myself in that position to where I
might be the unwitting victim of somebody who just felt
like guns and hunting go go hand in hand. They don't.

(06:37):
They don't, and there's no reason whatsoever for anybody to
get hurt. I don't have the hunting accident statistics in
front of me here, but as I've said for a
very long time, I'm aiming for no hunting fatalities and
no hunting accidents. The hunting accident thinks hard, because there
are occasional catastrophic failures of weapons. Sometimes that happens, but

(07:03):
let's just how about just no accidents caused by something stupid,
caused by user error? And not mechanical failure and hopefully
no fatalities and hopefully no fatalities over the weekend. With
the boaters, it's that's a lot to ask when you
when you the odds are overwhelmingly against you getting hurt

(07:28):
out there, But they go up. If you add alcohol,
they go up, if you had if you add inattention,
they go up. If you add any other mitigating factor
that might that might cause somebody to look the other
way for a second, or wait, what was that over there,

(07:49):
to get distracted. You don't need to be distracted. If
you're by yourself in a boat, then you're on your
own and hopefully you're smart enough and seasoned enough, anderience
enough to get out to where you're going and then
get back. If you have other people on the boat
with you, put them to work watching. Put them to

(08:10):
work watching what's going on around you, so that you
can focus on what's in front of you a little
more comfortably without having to keep your head on a swivel.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
It's just so hard in it. Things happen so fast.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
In the water. You might be looking over if you're
running the boat and everybody else is looking back behind
the boat at the kids on the float or or
whatever one of those flying things I've been seeing advertised
in the last few years, if everybody else is looking
back and you're looking forward, And by the way, if

(08:47):
you're the person driving the boat when there's a bunch
of kids behind you on skis or wakeboards or any floataatee,
floating crazy thing, you better not be looking at them.
You better be looking what's in front of you, because
if you blink, there may be a log in the water,
there may be a kayak in the water in front

(09:08):
of you, and running into any of those is not
gonna turn out well. Seven one three two one two
five seven ninety Email me Dugpike at iHeartMedia dot com.
I will go over briefly because I presume when I
when I turn on this microphone, I presume that my
audience is smart enough to not get themselves in trouble,

(09:32):
to not do the wrong thing. But just so you
can remind the people around you over the weekend, if
you're in that.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
Situation, here's what you's supposed to be doing.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
First of all, kids thirteen and younger, what it says
under thirteen, I hate it when they do that. First
of all, under is not the right word. It's younger
than it says. Children younger than thirteen have to wear PFDs,
which is great. Hey, And if you're not a great
I don't care how embarrassed you might feel putting on

(10:03):
a life jacket, But why don't you do that instead
of drowning? Do us all that favor, instead of having
to call out the authorities to come look for you
on the bottom of the lake. Put it in that perspective.
Your family's going to be back on the dock, standing
at the ramp whatever, wringing their hands, crying, watching the operation,

(10:29):
hoping that they find you because you were too proud
to wear a life jacket and you fell off the boat. Well,
you don't think about if I were just to step
off of a boat in the middle of a lake,
I could just sit there and tread water for a
little while. I think I probably until somebody'd roll up
on my back and float and just be that big

(10:51):
blob in the water. But most times that people get
ejected from boats, they're not just gently stepping off the side.
There's been some sort of sudden movement. They've lost their
balance and on the way out you got a pretty
good chance of hitting your head on something. Hitting your
head on something hard. Unless you're in a half inflated

(11:13):
inflatable raft, you're gonna hit your head on something hard.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
It's gonna knock you silly for a little bit.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
And being silly knocked out, semi semi knocked out in
the water. Not gonna turn off, not gonna turn out. Well,
use your engine cut off switch. Never operate a boat
under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Well, that's I
just covered most of that. And please, just if you
haven't done it yet, take a safety course. Take a

(11:39):
safety course. That now that's mandatory. If you were born
after September one, nineteen ninety three, that's when that went
into effect.

Speaker 3 (11:49):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
But if you're older than that, you were born before
September one, nineteen ninety three, and you've never had a
boat or safety course and you just bought a boat,
go take of course and then follow all the personal
watercraft rules. Said the life checket required a bay fifty
foot rules. Stay off the water after sunset. There's a
good tip.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
Check the weather, even better tip check the weather conditions.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Yeah, we'll do that, don't you worry. Oh, it even
has a Vibrio warning avoids avoid salt water if you
have open wounds. As Vibrio bacteria occur naturally in Texas
coastal waters, yes they do, Yes they do. And I've
lost one friend to it. I have seen other friends

(12:37):
suffer horribly. I have seen other friends be subjected to
amputations to varying degrees because of Vibrio. Now bear in
mind that it's not something that's gonna happen just because
you went to the beach and sat on the sea wall.
This is something that you there. It has to have
a way to get into your system, and that's why

(12:57):
it says if you have open wounds. If you have
open wounds, you can do yourself a big favor and
use some of that liquid bandage to block that entry
into your into your system. But that Bibrio vulnificus bacteria
is is deadly if you get it. There are but

(13:18):
a few dozen cases around the entire Gulf Coast every year,
and that that's for all, for the billions of exposure.
Thinking of how many people are already in the water
at Galveston right now, and at Surfside and at Corpus,
and it's South Padre and over to the east wherever
they get in the water, it's it's there, but it's

(13:39):
but it's just something to It's kind of like snakes
and sharks. Something to respect. You don't be you don't
need to be scared of it. Just respect it and
do the best you can to stay away from it.
All Right, We're gonna take this first break, and when
I get back, I'll get to the phone calls. I
went a little long on this tee it up segment,
but I wanted to make sure that I got my
safety speech out and you might hear a little bit
more about it. On the way out. I'll tell you

(14:01):
about Shooter's corner down there at Palmer how I win
twenty Night Street in Texas City. I need to get
back down there and go buy my license. That's where
I bought it last year. As far I probably get
it this year. Owners Jerry and JTK father and son team,
two of the best gunsmiths I've ever met. One learned
from the other, and believe me, whatever Jay learned, Jay

(14:22):
learned from the best Therey. As far as I'm concerned,
that man has helped more of my listeners with more weird,
crazy gun problems. Than anybody has so far, and it's
pretty easy to get to them too. Just make it
a trip to the beach, drop the gun off at
Shooter's Corner, let them fix it for you, and then
a couple of days later you get a second opportunity

(14:42):
to have an excuse to drive toward Galveston. It's a
pretty good way to think of it, really, Right there guns,
brand new guns, pre owned guns, plenty of AMMO. They
Jerry buys it by the palette of shotgun shells, rifle ammo.
They have all the boutique calibers off there, plenty of optics,
plenty of camo, plenty of reloading supplies. The shooters Corner,

(15:05):
TX dot com is a website Palmer High Wet twenty
ninth Street in Texas City. Been in business forty something
years and if you wear a badge for a living,
you get a discount, which is pretty cool. The Shooters Corner,
TX dot com. If you happen to be on fifty
nine this afternoon Southwest Freeway out towards Sugarland, and you
happen to be hungry, and you happen to have the

(15:26):
family with you, get off at the Sugar Creek exit.
Go north on the feeder there and you will see
Berry Hill Baja Grill. I don't know exactly what the
sign says outside the Big Sun, because by the time
I get there, I'm usually just salivating going in to
pick up dinner and take it home or sit there

(15:47):
and have it myself. Barry Hill's been there thirty something
years since I moved into sugar Land. At least I
know that they were there. I'm pretty sure when I
got there, and I'm so glad I'm in there. I
was in there twice last week and just picking up
delicious traditional.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
Tex mex food made by the same people.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
By the way, in the kitchen, the two primary cooks
in the kitchen right now each have more than a
decade of experience in that kitchen doing what they do,
grinding out the best fish tacos you'll ever eat, grinding
out seafood enchiladas. That's one of my favorites, and then
everything else. You can imagine the enchiladas, the tamaies, all

(16:26):
of that stuff coming out of that kitchen for thirty
something years and outstanding. Now, if you can't get to
Burry Hills over there at fifty nine and Sugar Creek Boulevard.
That's okay. They'll cater to any big event you want
to put on anywhere. You don't have to drag your
whole crew down there. They'll bring the food to you.
If you do go in there, what you'll find is

(16:48):
to your left as you walk in the door is
very family style tables and booths that kind of thing,
and to the right is more of a sports bar feel.
And then as you walk in you'll see that they
have some outdoor dining too, which is going to be
really really comfortable coming up in about the next month
or so, hopefully at least.

Speaker 4 (17:04):
Huh.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
Berryhill sugar Land dot com is a website family owned
and operated, has been since they opened the doors a
long time ago. Berryhillsugar Land dot com seven on Sports
Talk seven ninety The Dugpike Show. Thank you for listening
on this Labor Day weekend. I have three calls to
get to Dave, David, and Rick. I'll get to him

(17:27):
in that order, because that's who that's who's been holding
on the longest. Stand by one second. I got him,
friggy Dave, what's up?

Speaker 5 (17:33):
Man?

Speaker 6 (17:35):
Oh man, I'll tell you what. Uh. I'm not perfect,
but where did that line come from stupid? Is that
stupid does?

Speaker 1 (17:44):
Oh gosh, I don't know. Wow what you do?

Speaker 6 (17:48):
Oh no, no, okay, when people miss up, you know,
you know, sometimes you can prevent it, all right. With
my wife or my mom, they would say like, don't
step up there. When you're stepping up there and then
you follow off.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
Really, you know, that's when you're young. That's good for you, though,
it really is.

Speaker 6 (18:08):
Go ahead, Oh, I hear you. Hey. So now I
was sitting there kind of writing some notes, and my
wind shows all followed up. I got three of my
buddy fishes behind me over here in my spot. But
that's fine. I told him to get over here. In
any way, I had my head down writing notes and
I didn't notice. I had my door open, and game

(18:30):
more than Markowski comes up to the door. Well, I
was sitting here writing notes. No checking our license and
I got my license and everything. So I stepped out
of the car, you know, I said, hey, I'm David Prior.
Here's my license and everything. And so he checked my
license and he went on down the line and checked

(18:51):
everybody's fish and everything. Everybody was clean, everybody.

Speaker 1 (18:55):
Was good, fantastic. That's how it's supposed to be.

Speaker 6 (18:59):
I'm well, yeah, that's what I'm saying. And he and yeah,
And I told him, yeah, I know officers game Warden,
Shorty Price and he's like, oh yeah. He started laughing.
But anyway, hey, on the oh, did you get that
deal on that deal on the Lion's Club deal on

(19:20):
September thirteenth, I sent you on your Facebook.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
I probably have I probably have it, but I haven't
printed it out yet. When did you say it? Just
a couple of days ago?

Speaker 6 (19:31):
Now it was whenever I when I talked to you, Yeah, okay,
that we got it? Okay, anyway, No, everything's going good.
Uh when my when that dog cage little way, we're
working on the on the gate on the side now

(19:52):
it's about five foot wide and everything. So to get
old A guy I met man he had a Candy
Apple red truck with a no it was it was
a truck with a Candy Apple red front loader in
a back till or loaded down. Yeah, he had it
loaded down with corn man near corn.

Speaker 5 (20:17):
I know.

Speaker 6 (20:18):
I said, are you going on? And we got talking
and I was wearing my hat, you know, with my
name on it. Anyway, we got talking and he goes,
I recognize your boys, ben tyco.

Speaker 2 (20:31):
Hey, David speaking up. I gotta go catch up with
David and Rick before I get to this break because
they've been holding long as you.

Speaker 6 (20:35):
Get I'm sorry, but let's okay to that guy and
I got his phone number and called me.

Speaker 2 (20:40):
All right, yeah, all right man, thanks, we'll see.

Speaker 1 (20:44):
All right, Let's get David in here and I'll try
to grab Rick too. What's up, David?

Speaker 7 (20:48):
Yeah, dog got big brakes.

Speaker 8 (20:49):
I was already there. There's already been a drowning on
Lake Conrod and uh. When I teached the hunter hunter education,
I always try to say, don't be a victim of circumstance.
You know, you lead, You don't carry a gun loaded
when you don't need it, and you're not gonna have
the circumstances of all those other things that happened that

(21:12):
lead to an accidental shooting.

Speaker 6 (21:14):
But who would who would.

Speaker 8 (21:15):
Think, Doug that not making sure your hat is on
or taking your hat off, well, we'd keep someone from drowning.
And I'll let you take it from there. It's the
craziest story I've ever heard that led to a drowning.

Speaker 6 (21:31):
And I'll leave it to h to Rick, come.

Speaker 2 (21:33):
On, okay, what I have to go find the story
I sent you the link. Oh okay, good thank goodness man,
because that was going to be a major fishing.

Speaker 1 (21:43):
Expedition for me.

Speaker 2 (21:44):
I'm great. I haven't had a chance to look at that.
I'll look at it during the break, for sure. Thanks,
I will. All right, let's tap up Rick here, we'll
take Kim before we get to the break, Rick byce,
what is going on.

Speaker 1 (21:58):
Land man?

Speaker 5 (22:00):
Man? I got a couple of things on observation and
one dove hunting related thing if I have time observation. Okay,
summertime is the worst time for my when I do
how I make a live in farming ranch real estate brokerage,
as you know. But this is the time of year

(22:20):
that labor day it starts ticking up. There's lots of
reasons why we won't go into, but this is also
the time of year I'm gonna recommend people that have
leases for hunting or fishing purposes. You might want to
go make a visit to your landowner and maybe hand
them a gift certificate to Belleville Meat Market or make

(22:45):
them a homemade pie or something. Because there's some changing
wind on leasing land in Texas. And here I'm gonna
try to quickly say what it is. And this is
my observation. Texas is the fastest state in the United States,
growing state. We all read it, we hear it, see
it right, yes, sir. People coming from other places right,

(23:11):
a lot of them are outdoorsmen, and when they get
to Texas, they don't understand until they get here that
they've died and gone to heaven and the privileges that
are outdoorsman has in this state. Okay, And so what's
happening is we have more, we have less people nowadays
willing to lease their land for different reasons, and so

(23:33):
the supplying demand is making a big swing here. And
these people coming from California and Wisconsin and in the
Northeast that are outdoorsmen, they're willing to pay more than
we're used to. So and we're seeing a big change
in ownership of property, especially the large properties. And so

(23:56):
what I'm seeing is what we can expect, I think
is come when your lease is up, don't be surprised,
especially if you've had a landowner change, that your lease
fee is going to increase your privileges to what you
can do is going to decrease. And we're also gonna

(24:20):
see leases that we're so used to of having a
year round lease not be year round anymore. So I would,
I would really keep that back of my mind if
I had any concern of an ownership change. Number one
and number two. If you haven't unless you have a
longtime friendly relationship with your landowner, I would be a

(24:42):
little concerned about it. If you just write a guy
check you never met, I would, I would, I would
have some. I have some keep that communication line with
them on real, real, real tip. Last thing, last thing
on the dove hunting seat of opening day exciting. Anything
about dove hunting's fun to talk about. Right, I'm just

(25:05):
gonna share my personal preference of what kind of field
did I like to hunt over?

Speaker 6 (25:10):
Okay, I like to hunt.

Speaker 5 (25:12):
Over like the one I'm looking at if any birds
would show up, I like a freshly cut, seeded goat
weed field.

Speaker 2 (25:21):
I'm in. I'm in at.

Speaker 5 (25:24):
Least I can find them, you know. But I need
to cut it anyway, So I cut it too about
ten twelve days ago, had it cut, and but because
I need to drass and row hundred for grazing purposes.
But anyway I wanted to share to that observation, just
might want to double down because the times it's changing
in the state of Texas.

Speaker 2 (25:44):
Uh. Yeah, I didn't thought about that much, Rick, But
that's that's a really good point to bring up. Really good.
I'm gonna make a note. We're going to talk about that.

Speaker 6 (25:54):
I have a great weekend.

Speaker 5 (25:55):
Aug everybody be safe out there through Labor Day and
in beyond.

Speaker 2 (26:02):
Yeah, thank you, Rick, Good I see men. Wow, And
think about that. Some of these out of state property
owners coming in. Uh. Property buyers coming in may have
a different way of looking at traditional Texas hunting values,
may have a different way of pricing their land for

(26:24):
a hunter who might want to use it. A lot
of these people are coming from places that have where
they've got good incomes, they've got good money coming in.
They'll buy a nice piece of property over here, and
the people who owned it before releasing it for X
and now these people come in and go, you know what,

(26:46):
is this all pay for a hunting lease? These people
will pay to do that. Huh that's interesting. Yeah, Okay,
let's just let's just throw it out there for two
acts or three acts and see if they still want it,
and if they don't, who cares. We've already bought it,
so already paid for. That's an interesting thing, it kind
of boy, It sure goes against the grain of Texas

(27:06):
values and traditions, doesn't it. To look into that a
little bit more. On the way out here, let me
tell you about a black Horse Golf Club. Black Horse
is off. You have two ninety to Fry Road. Go
south south on Fry Road about three miles or so.
You'll see golf course on your right, and then before
you can blink, you're going to see golf course on
both sides of the road. And then you put on

(27:29):
your blink err and make a west and that'll take
you right into the gate at black Horse. Go up
to the clubhouse. Everybody in there is going to be
happy to see you. They're glad you're there because it
keeps them in their job, and they want to make
sure you have a good time in the grill. They
want to make sure you got a nice happy belly.
On your way out. As you're playing, the cart attendants

(27:53):
or the beverage cart attendants will be coming around there
to make sure you're having a good time and offer
you up a little swing fluid if you and just
the whole experience is going to be good. It always
has been for me, and I've played out there for
close to thirty years now. Absolutely love the place, Absolutely
love the place. I've played a lot of big tournaments.
Two courses, the North and the South North daily fee,

(28:15):
South Private. You got options at both of them, and
all you got to do is go in the clubhouse
and ask say, hey, by the way, what's the deal
on the South course going private? Tell me about my options,
and one of those is going to be kind of
a five for one. If you become a full fledged
member of that golf course, the South Course at black Horse,

(28:37):
you also are going to get there's one option that
gets you access also to Blackhawk Country Club and both
courses up at Golf Club of Houston in Humble. Fantastic facility.
Great play on behalf of Craig Hicks, the general manager
at black Horse, to get all that stuff going on
through his management team, and it's turning out really well

(28:59):
for everybody, including the guys who are still playing the
North course because it's not quite as crowd as it
used to be. Black Horse Golf Club dot Com is
a website. You can make yourself tea time right now,
or get yourself some more information black Horse goolf Club
dot com. Case you haven't been paying attention, we are really,
really really closed to duck season, well the teal season anyway.

Speaker 1 (29:22):
And with teal season, you know what's gonna happen.

Speaker 2 (29:23):
Teal season is gonna come and go, and then you're
gonna blink and it's gonna be duck season. And if
you blink twice, you may not have a place to go.
There were a lot of places across Southeast Texas last
year where the duck hunting wasn't so great. Riceland Waterfowl
Club had good duck hunting, really good duck hunting most days.
And it's because the guy who owns it, David Pruett,

(29:44):
has been doing this for fifty plus years. He's owned
and operated Riceland Water for Foul Club for fifty years.
This is his golden anniversary from when he broke out
and said, you know what, Mom and Dad, I don't
know what you wanted from me, but here's what I'm
gonna do.

Speaker 1 (30:02):
I am gonna run the.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
Bye gosh best waterfowl club I can run, because I
love doing that. He's a champion duck caller, champion goose caller.
He knows what, he knows what he's dealing with. He
knows how to talk to these birds. I don't want
to go so far as to call him a duck whisperer,
but maybe you could. And the way he sets it
up for his club members, which by the way, it's
only club members and their guests who hunt get to

(30:24):
hunt all. This property has a couple thousand acres water here, there,
and everywhere across that prairie, plenty of blinds. They're all
at least a quarter mile apart. And just in there's,
like I said, no guided hunting on club Land at all.
So all those ducks, all that water, all those blinds,
it's just you and your guests getting to hunt those things.

(30:45):
Great place to get off to a good start and
get back to shooting a lot more birds and seeing
a lot more birds. Rice Landwaterfowl Club dot Com. Hey,
time's running out. There's only a few spots left. I
talked to him last week on the show. Here go
listen to the podcast. He'll hear it. It's just he's
in his voice. He's ready, He's he's ready. To just say, Okay,

(31:07):
that's all the people we're gonna take this year. He
wants to make sure everybody who's in gets good opportunities
to get some great honey. Rice Land Waterfowl Club dot com.
Check it out on Sports Talk seven ninety. By the way,
we have early dismissal today. I will be checking out

(31:29):
at nine, So listen closely if I start talking real fast,
because I had a lot to unpack in two hours
as opposed to the traditional three that we get. Oh,
i'd something remind me Frankie when we get past this
next break, which won't take long, Uh to U upgrade
you on something or update you on something done?

Speaker 5 (31:51):
Dan?

Speaker 2 (31:52):
What's up? Man?

Speaker 6 (31:55):
I'm glad I'm not the only one that today.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
Oh. No, man, Yeah, and you know it's funny. Uh,
Frankie doesn't know you from a hole in the wall.
And what he wrote up here when you told him
who you were is dove truck Dan. Dove truck Dan.
I like that he doesn't know that it's dump truck Dan.
Or did you tell you.

Speaker 6 (32:14):
Well, you know my hip.

Speaker 7 (32:16):
No, he may have just misunderstood my hill build girl.

Speaker 2 (32:19):
No, it's because we're opening up dumb season on Monday,
he's I've gotten him thinking about hunting season and that's outstanding.

Speaker 6 (32:26):
Oh oh, well, that's cool.

Speaker 1 (32:28):
You know today it works today?

Speaker 2 (32:30):
Right?

Speaker 5 (32:31):
Well, as of nine seventeen last night, uh.

Speaker 8 (32:34):
I became eligible for medicare.

Speaker 2 (32:37):
Did you no good for you?

Speaker 3 (32:39):
Man?

Speaker 2 (32:40):
Oh ma, yeah, Frankie just changed. Frankie just changed your
name on the thing to dump truck Dan again.

Speaker 3 (32:48):
It is.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
He's a good game. So what's going on with you?

Speaker 6 (32:52):
Man? I'm just having to work, and you know, sitting
here waiting to go clock in, and thought i'd wave
a hand.

Speaker 2 (32:59):
Well, I appreciate that. Man. I certainly do any plans
for the weekend except for where I guess work. Never mind.

Speaker 6 (33:07):
Sorry, well I'm working today and tomorrow I'll probably both
the hard since I got my lawnmower runner again, that's good.

Speaker 2 (33:17):
Your life's almost a sight in his mind.

Speaker 6 (33:21):
Yeah. We don't do much. We just kind of go
to work.

Speaker 2 (33:23):
And go home.

Speaker 6 (33:25):
That's all right.

Speaker 2 (33:25):
Hey, there's nothing wrong with that, man. A lot of
people try to put ten pounds of sugar in a
five pound sack and it rarely works out.

Speaker 5 (33:34):
Well, we got two German shepherds, too many doctions and
two cats, so we stay pretty busy.

Speaker 1 (33:38):
You got too many animals, is what you've got.

Speaker 6 (33:43):
Yeah, but we love every one.

Speaker 2 (33:45):
Oh, I'm sure I know you do, man, I know
you do it. It's great to hear from you.

Speaker 4 (33:50):
Well, it's good talk to you too, all right for anyway.

Speaker 2 (33:53):
Stay in touch man, anyway, So we'll see that. Well,
all right, happy Labor Day, I'll see it. Then. I
hate to shake him off, but I want to get
Brandon here before we get to the break.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
Brandon, what's up, buddy?

Speaker 6 (34:06):
Good morning?

Speaker 2 (34:07):
Miss I'm very well.

Speaker 6 (34:09):
Thank you good. Yeah, we get a lot of DEAs
coming into Wood County. Looks pretty good.

Speaker 7 (34:16):
But I want to come.

Speaker 9 (34:18):
I want her to talk about it on down safety
and I mean, I think I'm pretty point blank on this,
and my dad raised me on this. As an open chamber,
you can trust the safety all you want to, but
when you walk to the blind there's no deer, there's
no dove, there's no duck. Whatever you want to shoot at,

(34:38):
it's not worth. It's not worth the risk of having
a loaded chamber as you drive out. And I feel,
I mean, as you as a guide back in your
younger days, you would honestly have to sit there and
say that's a big safety issue because the adrenaline rush

(35:00):
of the hunt, uh with the dad and the kids
or grandkids or whatever, everybody's on a high. And I
mean you when I went on a hunt. The more
I grew up and the older I got, I mean,
we always double triple checked. Even as much as I

(35:23):
mean I hunted around friends, we double triple checked and
said nope, and we threw our double barrel shotguns over
our shoulder. That way we knew there was nothing in
the chamber. An open chamber is the biggest safety.

Speaker 2 (35:40):
Yeah, that's probably the first thing right there. If the
gun is unloaded and you know it's unloaded. I've said
it on a hundred times on this show. If you
show me that the gun that you're about to hand
me because you want me to look at it, or
I wanted to look at it, whatever, if you show
me that it's empty when you hand it to me,
I'm gonna check it again myself. And nobody should feel
insulted by that. Nobody should feel like they're not trusted.

(36:04):
But it's just that extra layer of safety that I
have put on myself my whole life to make sure
that nothing like you're talking about happens exactly.

Speaker 9 (36:17):
Whether it's whether it's an automatic or whatever it is.
I mean, it's just if you show an open chamber, well,
there should be no mistakes at all.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
It would be no mistakes. And with rifles, all you
got to do open a bolt action rifle. It's kind
of hard sometimes to see around up in there and whatnot.
Just take your little pinky finger and run it up.
Unless you're shooting at twenty two, but take your pinky
finger and shove it up in there. And if you don't,
if you don't run into the back end of a cartridge,
you should be good.

Speaker 6 (36:47):
To go, yes, sir.

Speaker 9 (36:49):
And my dad instilled that in me from a very
young age. Sir, and he always shut double check me
before I walked in the house.

Speaker 2 (36:58):
He should and you know it wasn't doing it because
he didn't trust you. It's just that's how he was raised.
He was just that's that's the way I do it.
That's the way you do it, all right. I got
a bounce, man, I'm really late. Holy cow, Thanks David H.
Thank Brandy. Any Yes, sir, oh, I gotta bounce out
here real quick.

Speaker 1 (37:17):
By the way. Nine o'clock ut football.

Speaker 2 (37:19):
I'm gonna keep saying that, I'm making sure I remember
because we got a lot to do in a short
period of time. All the way out by all means,
I would love to tell you about Champions Tree Preservation.
Remember the damage from Hurricane Barrel last year. Well, here
we are right in the middle of storm season again.
Nothing happening right now, thank goodness, and I hope it doesn't.
But if it does, your trees need to be healthy

(37:42):
enough to withstand that blow. Healthy trees can take a hurricane,
they have all all through history. But if that tree
is weakened for any reason and you don't know it,
it may wind up on your house. It may wind
up on your car, or on your neighbor's house or wherever,
but it'll be tipped overside way and that's never good.

(38:02):
If you want to make sure they're ready, get somebody
from Champions Tree Preservation out there. They'll send an arborist
to professional arborist to your house to make sure those
trees are ready. If the diagnosis comes up where they
need feeding, they can send crews out there to do that.
If they need pruning crews to do that, And they
own all the equipment they used to do it too,
so there's never any backlog or I gotta wait till

(38:25):
I can get a whatever. They have all the whatever's
for tree work. If they have to take the entire
tree out because it's just gone and unsavable. They own
a tree farm that grows native Texas trees and they'll
take care of that for you. Two eight one three

Stevens golf apparel, golf and outdoors apparel. By the way,
he is moving into that space, and why not. He's
already made such a big splash in the golf apparel space.
I wore one of his shirts yesterday. As a matter
of fact, I was out at the club working on
a short game. Kobe Stevens is also in addition to

(39:12):
having one of the coolest, most most wearable lines I've
ever had of golf shirts, I really do like his stuff.
I like the patterns they have. I like the prints
they have, I like the fit of the shirts. I
like the way they feel. I also like the way
Kobe himself, Kobe Gallick, the half of the Kobe Stephens team.

(39:34):
I like the way Kobe goes into the community and
goes to almost every seems like every time I call
the guy, he's going to another charity event, donating a
bunch of stuff, giving up his time to go out there.
And that's just the way he is. That's every time
I try to get me to go play golf with me,
probably half the times, maybe more, Well, I can't. I've

(39:56):
already got a tournament I have to go to that day.
Great people, they got a store up on the North

don't unless you're a tour player. If you're wearing Kobe

So just walk around a lot. People will think you're
a pro. Just don't let them see you swing. Kobe

Holy cow, where did this hour go? It's so I
so enjoy talking to all of you, I really do.
I so enjoy the phone calls and the emails, which

(40:40):
I haven't checked actually in a few minutes. Boy, I'm
having to lean into this screen more and more. I
just don't know what's going on with my poor old eyeballs,
except that they're getting a little older, that's all. Um.
Oh yeah, I'm gonna have to get into that. That
story that David talked about. I did go and read

(41:00):
it up on Lake Conroe, three o'clock Friday afternoon, just yesterday,
not even twenty four hours ago. A couple of people
riding around in a boat heading back to the marina.

Speaker 1 (41:13):
Forty something year old man, I think it was.

Speaker 2 (41:15):
Let me see if I can get this store to
tee up completely so I could tell you the details.

Speaker 1 (41:20):
This guy, thirty four year old guy.

Speaker 2 (41:22):
They're riding back, probably doing a pretty good clip across
the bay, and this guy's hat blows off, so they
spin around. They go back over there, two men and
a woman in the boat. Thirty four year old guys
hat blows off. They turned the boat around to retrieve it,
and that's when the thirty four year old man jumped

(41:43):
into the lake some for some reason. Then it's it's
really nobody's It's not explained here anyway, And I'm sure
that the people, the other people in the boat have
talked about it with officials, but it's not our business.
But anyway, the man had some sort of issues when
he was in the water, and another guy jumps in

(42:08):
to try to help him and wasn't able to help
for whatever reasons, And about two hours later they recovered
that man's body on the bottom of the lake. That
is so sad we didn't even get to the weekend
before we had a boating related fatality on Lake Conrad.

(42:31):
Well maybe next year. That's so unnecessary. Why on earth
would you leave the boat to pick up a cap. Now,
I know some boats it's very difficult. The gunles may
be so high that you can't reach down to the
water even but surely in every boat there ought to

(42:53):
be some sort of little boat hook or something you
could use if you've got a fish on board, hook
the cap with your lure and bring it into the boat.

Speaker 1 (43:05):
But don't just bail off into the water.

Speaker 2 (43:08):
And I'm well, it's almost certain that the man didn't
have on a PFD, otherwise he would have floated and
not sunk. When he passed. Oh, that's so bad. That's
so disappointing, it really is. I'm so sorry for the
whole that just messed up everybody's weekend. Everybody in his circle,

(43:28):
everybody in his circle. And even if you're even if
you don't care about your circle, just do it for yourself.
Don't don't make a mistake like that. Oh, it just
just shakes me to my core to know that we've
already had a boating fatality and it's not even not
even eight o'clock yet on Saturday, which it's almost though,

(43:51):
holy cow, it's almost. Let me let me take this
opportunity very quickly to tell you about El Kubano Cigars.
Manny Lopez has been rolling cigars down in Texas City
at one of the only, well of only four dozen
cigar manufacturing facilities in the whole United States, quietly rolling
down there in Texas City for a long long time, uh,

(44:12):
at his Texas City smoking lounge. And he has another
one in League City not far away, but that one's
kind of more of a van of feel because that's
pretty much where Manny and his dad came from back
in the I think, like I don't know many many
years ago. I'm not sure how long. Two thousand and six,
there's my number I'm looking for. That's when they came

(44:33):
over here from Cuba, where they had been working in
cigar factories and started one of their own. They have
a couple of more Cuban people in there rolling cigars
for them and they send out I don't know, hundreds
every week all over the country. But it's really cool
experience to go down there and just see kind of
how it works. Lcubano Cigars dot com. They will come

(44:56):
to your event, by the way, with custom bandit custom
boxed cigars one hundred and fifty different varieties. They will
hand roll cigars for your guests at a wedding reception,
a golf tournament, whatever, it's a it's a really kind
of a cool experience. They made some for us over
here with the iheartlogo on them, and that's that's a

(45:19):
sharp looking box of cigars. I can tell you that.

(45:40):
has been around for a very long time, since nineteen
seventy nine out there in Belleville, and it was only
what about a year and a half ago.

Speaker 1 (45:47):
Now maybe that Cowboys Lemanski decided.

Speaker 2 (45:50):
I got to have more space, I want to do
more and he found that same space, well not the
same space, but he found that larger space right there,
still on Main Street in the middle of the little
town of Bellville, a great place where he now has
more people working with him. He's teaching them how to
become expert knife makers, and that means they're churning out

(46:12):
more knives. And I'm talking about everything from pairing knives
to butcher knives, to hunting knives.

Speaker 1 (46:18):
To machetes, to axes, to hatchets.

Speaker 2 (46:23):
If it has a swords, if it has a blade
and a sharpened edge, pretty good chance Cowboys and Manski's
made I don't know, one hundred of them, maybe a
thousand in his career.

Speaker 1 (46:35):
It's a fascinating thing too.

Speaker 2 (46:36):
You can take the whole family out there and on
a first come, first serve basis, they'll take you in
there where the forge is. Take you in there and
let you hammer out a knife of your own out
of hot steel. It's a fantastic experience, it really is,
and it's available to anybody who wants to have it.

Speaker 3 (46:53):
You can.

Speaker 2 (46:53):
Actually, there's another date thing you can do where you
follow cowboy around for a day or maybe two days.
I think there's a price attached to that, because his
time is valuable. And in any event, you're gonna learn
more about custom knife making than you could ever dream
in that short period of time because you'll be learning
it all from one of the best ever in the business,

and final thanks to ut football, second and final hour
of the Doug Pike Show starts right now. I'm gonna
put this up here, trying to put you on that

(47:34):
top screen. Frankie, there we go. You weren't even on
in here for a minute, for a hot minute. Oh
where'd my phones go?

Speaker 3 (47:43):
Now?

Speaker 2 (47:44):
Oh?

Speaker 6 (47:44):
Man?

Speaker 2 (47:45):
Oh, so proud of myself. I got this all done
without having to bother you. Oh there we go, man,
I need my little technical Proficiency merit badge from the
official wood Chuck want to be engineer. Man, I have
no business touching any of these buttons. They don't know

(48:09):
what they did when they gave me permission to touch
these buttons. It was like when the Houston Grand Prix
came to town a couple of years, many years ago,
many many years ago. Now still working at the paper
and covering a lot of stuff, and the sports editor
knew that my grandfather. We talked about a lot of
things over the years I was there, knew my grandfather

(48:30):
was into racing, and that I liked racing and boats
and cars and whatnot. And he said, hey, you want
to cover those races? I said sure, he goes okay,
here's the three three options they gave us. You can
hang out with the team chef, who has to prepare
more than he's reading, preparing more than a thousand meals
that week for all the team and the the driver,

(48:51):
the family, whoever's there. Or you can spend the day
with one of the driver's wives and see what they
do while their husbands are out racing around town. And
it pass. I don't want to go shopping. I don't
want to go to the galleria. I've been to the galleria.
I don't care who I'm with. The third option, by

(49:12):
the way, Doug would be working the pits, like, yeah, yeah,
that's me. I got the uniform, I got the headset,
I got all that stuff. And I even got to
be the guy on race day. On race day who
holds that little flag out there over the front of
the pit pit area so the driver knows where to stop.

(49:34):
Which after about one or two times during warm ups
and stuff, I realize that they already know where to stop.
That's for decoration, that's all that is. That's to make
somebody feel like they're important. And it just is very
humbling because like, those guys don't care. They're out there
doing a four tire change in ten seconds and fueling up.

(49:58):
On top of that, the guys knows where to stop.
It's okay. But it was fun, man, that was really
really fun. I gotta tell you seven one three two
one two. I don't even know where I was going
when I got to that, uh two one two five
seven ninety Email me Dougpike at iHeartMedia dot com. I'm
moving pretty quickly because we've got this early dismissal at

(50:20):
nine to accommodate UT football, which We're glad to do.
And by the way, at nine o'clock, what you're going
to hear is the first of this season's episodes of
Taking Vegas, which is back to help all of you
who are trying to get an edge on your buddies,
give you guys some information maybe they don't have. So

(50:43):
Taking Vegas at nine. UT football coverage actually starts at ten.
But I'm going to accommodate my buddy Chris Hodge because
he's I've been working with that guy for sixteen years
now and I trust him, I really do. He'll take
care of you guys. He'll do the best he can
hook you up. What else do I want to tell

(51:03):
you about Ryder cup picks? By the way, and at
eight thirty, yeah, twenty minutes from now, at eight thirty,
I'm going to interview on Renee ring Gell. I'm pretty
sure that's how he says. It might be roun Hell,
I'm not sure. But Renee's last name Rene. I'll just
call him Renee. Introduce him that and I'll call him Renee.

(51:23):
He's a gym at Golf Crest Country Club, which not
this weekend but next weekend is hosting the Aramco Houston Championship,
which is one of the PIF Global Series at one
of the women's golf events, and they do five of
these things around the world each season, and this time

(51:43):
they're here from September fifth through seven. It's a three
day event over at Golf Crest Country Club down there
in Pearland. Going to be one hundred and four professionals
coming in from lillary from around the world. There's one
woman coming in from Sweden. She's really hot. She won
last week. I'll get on held or Renda talk about

(52:04):
all of that with us at eight thirty, but that's
coming up then. And now we're just gonna squeeze everything
we can into the little sack we got us. Ryder
Cup captain Keegan Bradley finally announced his full team. That
would be Sam Burns, Patrick Cantley, Ben Griffin, Colin Morecawa,

(52:24):
Justin Thomas, and Cam Young is Six captains picks almost
as many as players for this year's event. Oh, it
doesn't even say who they are here. I've got an
incomplete story the euro too. I'll figure it out between
now and tomorrow, I promise the European Writer Cup, but

(52:45):
certainly before they tee it up up there at Bethpage Black,
which is, by the way, we're up close to where
Chris Hodge lives. The European Ryder Cup team currently includes
automatic qualifiers. According to AI, Rory mc roy, Robert McIntyre,
Tommy Fleetwood, there's a pretty good pick Justin Rose, Rasmus

(53:05):
Hoyguard and Terrell Hatton, and Luke Donald said he's gonna
announce his six captains picks on September one to complete
the twelve player team at Bethpage Black. And that's that's
not for another month. We've got until the end of September,
not the beginning of September. We've got till the twenty

(53:27):
sixth through the twenty eighth to get to there. Seven
one three two one two five seven ninety Email me
Dougpike at iHeartMedia dot Com. I'm gonna go ahead and
jump out for this break a little bit early so
we can stay on track here and make sure I
can get as much time as I can with Renee.
On the way out, I'll tell you about American shooting
centers out there West Timer Parkway between Katie and Highway six.

(53:48):
You can't miss those giant burms on the north side
of that little windy West Timber Parkway. Going through the
park there, it's a it's actually a flood zone if
you didn't know that. That's why everything out there is
on stilts and.

Speaker 1 (54:00):
The big new pro shop.

Speaker 2 (54:03):
The old one was kind of down at ground level
when they first opened the American Shooting Centers. The new
one is up on top of a hill for good reason,
because everything stays dry even in rough weather. And around
that property you will find three complete sporting place courses,
ten trap and skeet fields, five stands, setups.

Speaker 1 (54:23):
A beginner's wing shooting area.

Speaker 2 (54:26):
The rifle and Pistol rang starts at five yards and
goes all the way to six hundred yards. They even
have a nice selection of finer shotguns and rifles in
the pro shop up there, plus all the ammo you
could ever want and be able to shoot. All you
got to do is show up out there with a
good attitude and a safety attitude. They're very big on

(54:47):
safety out there. There's range officers out there, and anybody
and everybody who's there and works there is safety first,
and then everything else comes second. It's a really one
place to enjoy the shooting sports and to get a

All these pop up showers are essentially daily reminders of
what could happen if your trees are poorly maintained, if
your trees are sick. They're just precursors to some real nastiness.
If we get a big blow through here and you

(55:30):
who knows, your house, your car, all potential collateral damage.
If you don't take care of those trees, get Champions
Tree Preservation out to your house. They'll send an arborius
to make sure your trees are ready, and if they
need work, they own all the equipment they'll need to
do that work for anything from deep root feeding all

(55:51):
the way to taking out a giant, sick or well
dead tree. Champions Tree Preservation they don't want to have
to take out a whole tree, but if they have to,
they can, and they own a tree farm that grows
native Texas trees so they can replace whatever they have
to take out. Championstree dot Com is a website. Check

(56:15):
on Sports Talk seven ninety. This is I'm not gonna
know what to do with myself. At nine o'clock, I'm
really not a Frankie. We're gonna make room for Chris
Hodge and taking Vegas then and then at ten o'clock,
my usual jettison time, we will jump in for coverage
of UT's football game. Is that Ohio State they play today?

Speaker 6 (56:38):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (56:38):
I believe that's right. Yeah, Look and see what you're
wearing in there. Yeah, you better know who they're playing.
Who's a quarterback? I don't even know that. Who's your quarterback?

Speaker 4 (56:46):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (56:46):
I don't know? All right, fair enough, you're wearing their gear.
That's that should be good enough for them. I'm sure
it is seven one three two one two five, seven ninety.
Email me Doug Pike at iHeartMedia dot com. I got
any I'm trying to get my little mouse over here.
Here we go, bill ways in and this just from

(57:06):
partially seeing this, Oh my lord, I didn't need to
see that. Right now, he's showing me photographs from a
hospital stay. I'm sure after he got a vibrio infection.
Oh they're Oh great, there's a movie too. I'm not

(57:28):
even gonna look at that right now. Uh, this is
kind of funny, uh, he says. And I never went
near the water, so why, why and where did you
pick it up? That's interesting, It also says here, and
I also had a different strip infection in my bloodstream.

(57:49):
I'm pretty sure I can't die, and I'll be listening
until I do.

Speaker 1 (57:54):
Thank you, kind of Bill, I guess man.

Speaker 2 (57:59):
I hope you're you're doing way better than it appears
that you're doing in this photograph. And I'm not gonna
watch the movie until after the show. I don't know
if I could take it. Looks like you're in good hands, though,
Holy macaroni. It also looks like that doctor is completely
gloved up and suited up for good reasons. Oh my word, yeah,

(58:23):
you know. And I've seen pictures like that before. I have.
I've seen all of that stuff before from photographs that
other people who have contracted that bacterial infection have have
sent me in, and it's just horrible. Be careful, for
Heaven's sakes, Please be careful when you're out around the

(58:43):
water like that. Oh my word. Uh, Stephen Dean. Let's see,
this is a question that would be better fit for
for cowboys Emanski then for me. But I'll take a
swing for someone This is from Steve, For someone who

(59:04):
hunts every year and maybe kills a couple of diary year.
There's that bragging siren we need to get somehow. What
is a lifespan for a hunting blade? A hunting knife?
I have known people who very proudly would produce the
same knife over and over and maybe even talk about

(59:26):
how their father had given it to them, or how
it had been passed down from somebody else. I think, yeah,
that's definitely a cowboys and ask you question, holy cow,
because it depends on the quality of the steel in
the blade. It depends on how often that knife is sharpened,
because every time it's sharpened, it's gonna lose just a
little tiny bit of metal, no matter how careful you are.

(59:50):
And the best example I can think of is not
a hunting knife, but a little pocket knife that I
inherited from my grandfather, who was he He taught me
how to sharpen knives on just an old fashioned about
three inches long and one inch wide whetstone, and he
said Okay, here's the rough side. This is what you

(01:00:10):
do here. And then here's the smooth side. This is
what you do here. And we sat in his garage
down there on Southeast sixteenth Avenue in Pompino Beach, Florida.
I don't know how many afternoons with him teaching me
how to sharpen knives, which in hindsight, was his way
of getting out of having to sharpen all the knives
in the house, because he knew that when I came

(01:00:33):
down there on vacation, he could he could present it
as a lesson. He could Okay, you're gonna take some
strokes this way, and take some strokes that way, and
then that knife's gonna get sharpened, and there'd be a
whole box up him out there, like, wait a minute,
that was child labor. It didn't dawn on me till
years years after I was down there. He was just

(01:00:53):
getting me to do all the knife sharpening because he
and my grandmother did a lot of cooking. I think
that a good knife can last you many years. I
don't know how many that is.

Speaker 1 (01:01:07):
I might shoot Dum, I might.

Speaker 2 (01:01:08):
Shoot Cowboy note a little bit later in the program.
If I have a chance, and maybe we can talk
about that again tomorrow. But I've the little pocket knife
that I inherited from my grandfather. I can guarantee you
it was just standard issue. It wasn't anything super fancy.
It wasn't custom or anything like that. It was just
something he'd probably bought in a hardware store. And the

(01:01:29):
blade on that knife was probably three inches long, let's
call it. And instead of looking like a normal pocket
knife blade, that blade from from end to end three
inches from top to bottom. When I inherited that thing,
maybe a little maybe three eighths of an inch, it

(01:01:50):
wasn't a half inch wide anymore at all. And it
just looked like somebody had stuck something that didn't belong
where a knife blade used to be. I got new
it would shave the hair off your arm. I can
tell you that it really would. That That grandfather of
mine was an engineer, and he all about what engineers

(01:02:12):
always are. I need to get to this break now,
or have I got a couple of minutes, Frankie were.

Speaker 1 (01:02:16):
Good at eight twenty six.

Speaker 2 (01:02:18):
You'll have one minute, sweet man, I'm gonna be I'm
gonna go out like even a little bit before that
because I want to make sure I can get Renee
on here and talk about that big event coming up
down there, the a Ramco Houston Championship that's just a
week out. Actually it's less than a week now, because
they're gonna play Friday, Saturday, and Sunday down there, and
uh it's a big event coming to Houston, and it's

(01:02:42):
I haven't seen or heard virtually anything about it, and
I wish I had. Honestly, I don't know why I
wasn't on the early memos, but man, all of a sudden,
I saw the headline in the in the emails I
got this week, and I thought, Wow, I wonder when
that's coming. Maybe what November January? Who knows. Turns out

(01:03:04):
it's next week. So we're gonna get an abbreviated lesson
on exactly what this event is and what it's gonna
mean to certainly to the women who are playing, because
they're playing for one of the biggest persons outside of
the majors that they're gonna play for all year, and uh, yeah,
there's a lot of money on the line, and when
you put a lot of money on the line, you
can usually get a good field and that's exactly what

(01:03:26):
they've got coming up seven on three two one two
five seven ninety. Email me Doug Pike at I heartmedia
dot com. Let me see if there's one more email
that I can use to kind of get me to
where I want to be. Well, I'm still reeling over
the pictures that Bill shot me at I'm glad I
wasn't eating my breakfast. That's rough, man. Vibrio is a nasty,

(01:03:47):
nasty thing. You do not want to get it. It's not,
like I said, it's not common. It's not not something
you have to worry about every time you step in
a toe into the water in the Golf of Mexico.
But just be aware that it's there and react if
you do get something you think might be one of
those infections. A surgeon who was on the forefront of
all of the fibrio research that's been done, probably in

(01:04:11):
the last thirty or forty years, told me once, if
you think you might have it, which is flu like symptoms,
a darkening spot at the point of infection, and you
just don't feel worth a darn, go to the hospital.
Don't go to some minute clinic. Go to the hospital.
Tell them you contracted this in salt water somewhere. And

(01:04:36):
if they don't rush you into a room, if they
don't start IVS immediately, just get up and leave because
if you sit there for hours waiting, you're going to
probably lose a limb. If you don't lose your life,
it will get you that fast. That's the emphasis I'm

(01:04:57):
trying to put it. It's a serious infection and if
you even I think you have it, get out of there.
The best defense is just soap and water. You don't
have to use chlorox on your skin. You don't have
to use anything fancy. Soap and water as soon as
you can get to it, which means gallon jug with
a bottle of soap or a bar soap duct tape
to it, so you have everything you need. Gallon, juggle water, soap,

(01:05:21):
clean the wound immediately, and you should be okay. If not,
get the help you need. On the way out here.

Speaker 1 (01:05:29):
I'm gonna tell you all about Bellville meat mark Man.

Speaker 2 (01:05:31):
They got a deal going to this weekend only today
and tomorrow only those stuffed pork tenders. They do buy two,
you get one free. Any flavors you can mix and
match however you want but you buy two, you get
one free, and that's like three good meals for the

course all the Pecon smoke barbecue that's Monday through Sunday

(01:05:54):
ten am to seven pm. They have got homemade hot dogs.
They've got hamburger patties, including those big old chuck Wagon patties.
That's a half pound of beef with seizing and cheddar cheese.
Wild game processing ramping up now as it always does
this time of year. They've got all your grabbing ghostuff too,
the beef jerky and dry sausage, dry stick turkey jerky,

(01:06:15):
all of that, and bolt pricing as always on fresh
ground beef and all what is it? Two three dozen
flavors of gone smoke sausage. Bellville Meat Market Highway thirty six,
fifteen minutes north of Sealy, fifteen minutes south of Hempstead,
or online anytime at Belleville MeetMarket dot com. All right,
timber Creek Golf Club south on forty five south on

(01:06:39):
the Gold Freeway. Somebody got on me years ago about that.
It says not forty five, just say the Gold Freeway.
So I'll say the Gold Freeway. Go to twenty three
fifty one. That's the friends would exit. Hang up west.
About three miles down the road, you're gonna find timber
Creek Golf Well, you'll find the gate the timber Creek
Golf Club and once you get inside of there, you're
in great shape. Twenty having holes they've got at timber Creek,

(01:07:02):
all of them very enjoyable, very playable. This is not
a difficult course. Well there's no easy golf courses, but
it's one that will it'll leave you feeling pretty good
about yourself, unless you just totally stink at golf. And
in that case you need to run over to jj
Woods teaching facility there at timber Creek and get a
lesson or two or ten, and then you'll play good. Golf.

Speaker 1 (01:07:26):
Teaching staff's fantastic.

Speaker 2 (01:07:27):
They've got a great practice area where you can hit
all the balls you want and then do some putting
on a very generous putting green. And then of course
the grill. There's good food inside there, a great pro
shop staff. On and on and on. Everything about timber
Creek that I've ever known, from the GM all the
way down to the beverage card attendants and the bad guys, great,

(01:07:49):
good people, great facility, a lot of fun. Big group,
small group by yourself. Just run over there and get go,
make three new friends. Timbercreek goolf Club dot com. That's
Timbercreekgolf Club dot com. Hey thirty two on Sports Talk
seven to ninety The Doug Pike Show.

Speaker 1 (01:08:06):
Thank you for listening.

Speaker 2 (01:08:07):
As promised, I want to bring in a guy who
I haven't talked. I know I've run into him probably
half a dozen times, but I haven't talked to him.
I know that also in a long time, and that
is Renee Rengel from Golf Crest Country Club. He's a
GM down there. Good morning, Renee. How you doing man?

Speaker 3 (01:08:26):
Good morning Doug. Yeah, it's been a while. We talked
long years ago when I was playing playing the tour
a little bit.

Speaker 6 (01:08:32):
But it's been.

Speaker 2 (01:08:33):
A while back when we were younger and a lot
better at everything we used to do.

Speaker 7 (01:08:37):
Huh isn't that the truth?

Speaker 6 (01:08:39):
Boy?

Speaker 2 (01:08:39):
So you are hosting a big event man, Golf Crest
country Club, the ram twenty twenty five. It says here
a Ramco Houston Championship. That's a really nice feather in
the Golf Crest cat.

Speaker 3 (01:08:51):
My friend yes, we're very excited. We got a call
about three months ago. They were looking for a site
in South Houston and our name came up. They came
and visited the property, we made an agreement and.

Speaker 6 (01:09:06):
Here we are.

Speaker 3 (01:09:07):
It's it's it's quite a production there. It's a it
has got the full tour feel of it.

Speaker 7 (01:09:13):
They have a beautiful, beautiful.

Speaker 3 (01:09:16):
Hospitality tent behind number eighteen golf courses in great shape.

Speaker 2 (01:09:22):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (01:09:22):
They really treat the ladies coming in to play well.
And uh, obviously, as you know, a big purse for them,
and and uh we got some big names, So we're excited.

Speaker 2 (01:09:33):
Have any any of these afternoon showers gotten in the
way of your prep work? Are you on schedule?

Speaker 1 (01:09:38):
Is everything ready to go?

Speaker 3 (01:09:40):
Everything's ready to go. Actually, some of these afternoon showers,
the ones that that didn't wash away stuff, were really helpful. Obviously,
as you know, mother nature rain is much better than
the irrigation system. So uh, no, all good, We're we're
right on track. Nick Johnson, our director of agronomy and
and the team have done and a may job. I

(01:10:00):
think it's gonna show. Well, it's gonna be live Golf
Channel coverage three days in a row Friday, Saturday, Sunday
next week, and I think it's gonna show well on TV.
And I think that I think the ladies are going
to have a great competition with excellent course conditions.

Speaker 2 (01:10:16):
Yeah, I looked at the little cheat sheet that Lewis
sent over to me. You got one hundred and four
professional women coming in. It's a it's a team event,
twenty six teams of four talk about the format for
this thing, so they do.

Speaker 3 (01:10:30):
It's it's actually split format. It's a two million dollar
perse and half of the purse goes to the team competition.
Happened to the individual So they all play their own ball.

Speaker 8 (01:10:39):
They're in four.

Speaker 3 (01:10:40):
Player teams if you will, and they play their own
ball Friday and Saturday best best kind of a best
ball competition combination for the winners. That's one perse that's
that ends on Saturday. But then there's a cut and
the low players believe it's sixty four and ties move

(01:11:04):
on to the Sunday final round for the individual competition.
And oh, they're they're it's exciting. It's it's really it's
kind of a unique, unique format for them. Trying to
change it up a little bit with with a lot
of prize money.

Speaker 1 (01:11:18):
And it's it's a different tour.

Speaker 2 (01:11:20):
It's this p IF Global Series which is part of
that European Women's Tour.

Speaker 3 (01:11:25):
Right, correct, So it's it's actually an official Ladies European
Tour event. Yeah, it has it has LPGA star power.

Speaker 6 (01:11:35):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (01:11:35):
So there are LPGA players playing in it. Charlie Hole
is coming to play, Alison Lee, some some very talented ladies.
So it's it's it's it's backed by Golf Saudi. Uh.
They're trying to help promote obviously golf around the world. Sure,
so they they help out. They wanted to these ladies

(01:11:58):
who travel all over the world, so uh, you know, uh,
Houston can can witness some of these some these very
talented ladies that are not on the LPGA Tour that
are on the Ladies European Tour. So their next stop
after US is China, So they had to China after.

Speaker 6 (01:12:16):
It's a tournament.

Speaker 3 (01:12:18):
Yeah, it's a five tournament series and one of the.

Speaker 2 (01:12:21):
Stop series in Houston.

Speaker 3 (01:12:23):
Houston this year, and we're very excited.

Speaker 1 (01:12:25):
Didn't Allison Lee just have a baby this year or something?

Speaker 3 (01:12:28):
You know, I don't know think so, No, all I
know is she can play. I looked at a record
when when she was announced. It's like, wow, she could go.

Speaker 1 (01:12:34):
That's all that matters.

Speaker 2 (01:12:35):
Really, if you're in a golf tournament, it doesn't matter
whatever else you got outside of that, right man, old man,
this is gonna be probably I would think the first
and only chance this year for us to see a
lot of these players, especially the ones from Europe and
elsewhere around the world.

Speaker 4 (01:12:49):
Right, yeah, and.

Speaker 3 (01:12:51):
Yeah, and I was told so. So two things here
to note for for your for your listeners is what
you know. We we have I think the entire team
for the Solheim Cup from Europe here. So so the best,
the best players from from the European side are going
to be on property. This does they do get World

(01:13:14):
ranking points uh for this competition and Soheim Cup points.
So uh, there's a lot of steak, a lot of
steak for these ladies to play well. And uh and
obviously along with the purse, it's a it's a big
purse for them. It's basically a standard LPGA purse. But
for the Ladies European Tour, this is this is one
of their bigger.

Speaker 2 (01:13:33):
Personesnnguel GM at Golf Crest at Houston Country Club. Talk
about the Aramco presence out there. What kind of a
sponsor they been for you? Oh, unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (01:13:44):
The entire the the the entire group.

Speaker 6 (01:13:46):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (01:13:47):
Uh there's a there's a group behind the scenes. It's
uh we're uh we are fifty four the l E
T officials, golf Saudi. Uh they they this is they go,
they go all in. This is uh unbelievable. We were
expecting something nice. They have gone above and beyond. Uh
with a field. They have a fan zone for right

(01:14:09):
behind the clubhouse. There's a little putting uh putting track
a Uh, there's gonna be live music, food trucks, Uh, entertainment,
There's gonna be live live music. It's it's really it's
really impressive. I've been I've been so impressed with with
how they conduct their business in their entire team or
nothing but professionals and and.

Speaker 8 (01:14:31):
Uh, it's gonna be a great week.

Speaker 2 (01:14:33):
I think.

Speaker 3 (01:14:33):
I think, I think, Uh, anybody who who has time
to ten should should come out. Uh you can just
google a Ramco Houston Championship and it'll lead you right
to where the tickets can can be uh can be bought.
And I think kids are free. Uh. I don't know
exact age. I think maybe twelve and under kids are free,
and you know, getting to watch these ladies and and

(01:14:56):
they'll be there'll be a lot of spectators, but it's
not gonna be like CJ Tour where you have to
fight the crowds and you can get up up close
and personal and and really watch watch these ladies hitting
and and and go about their business. And I think
it's I think it'd be great, uh for young kids
as well for all golfers who who want to get
a closer field.

Speaker 1 (01:15:15):
Renee rang Gel, I know the club's ready.

Speaker 2 (01:15:18):
I've known you long enough and and well enough even
since it's even despite we hadn't talked in a while.
I know you got the club ready. But it's Pairland
ready to be in the international spotlight.

Speaker 7 (01:15:29):
We've had a lot of meetings with the City of Pirland.

Speaker 3 (01:15:32):
Uh so I believe, I believe we are.

Speaker 7 (01:15:35):
The city has really stepped up as well.

Speaker 3 (01:15:37):
You know, there's gonna there's some off off site parking
with uh some nice uh transportation into the club. But
they they've been very helpful, uh city Uh, you know,
the the mayor, the city manager, everybody has just been
open arms and and and really want uh want want
syst go well as as does the club. So it's

(01:15:59):
it's I think I think we're ready and and uh,
you know, it's it's it's it's it's pretty impressive. You know.
They have a they put up a tent with a
workout and stretch facility right behind the clubhouse, I mean
right behind the driving range for the players, and the
hospitality tent like a like a TOJN and and it's uh,
all the offices they bring on site. It's it's really

(01:16:21):
it's really neat and and the city paril has been
very supportive to make sure this this goes well.

Speaker 2 (01:16:26):
It's like and not in any way derogatory, but it's
like the circus coming to town in that there are
so many people working behind the scenes to get everything ready,
to make it just right so that when these women
come to town they can focus on their golf. And
and you you mentioned something a minute ago, it's not
gonna be an overwhelming crowd. You will be able to

(01:16:49):
get close to the players, you will be able to
to hear the conversations between them and their caddies, and
to to walk not well to walk outside the ropes,
but the you're a little closer and it's a little
more comfortable for these these tournaments, aren't they.

Speaker 3 (01:17:04):
And that's right, and that's the way they want it.
This is this is the way they want it. They
want to interaction. I think if the way they have
it laid out with you know where the ropes are
going to be.

Speaker 7 (01:17:15):
Yes, you get you get up.

Speaker 3 (01:17:16):
Close and personal with them, and and and and being
able to to be able to to walk around and
watch without big crowds and having a having a you know,
weave in and out of crowds. I've done that, you know,
watching the Houston Open and obviously you're in the Majors
and and all that kind of stuff.

Speaker 7 (01:17:33):
This is this is going to be real special for
for those who attend.

Speaker 2 (01:17:37):
Special for prayer Land too for sure. Renee, thank you
so much. U yeah, thank you for your time, man.
I really do appreciate it. I kind of know who
you got your hands full here in a week count man.

Speaker 7 (01:17:48):
A few balls in the air, but we'll get it.

Speaker 1 (01:17:50):
We'll get it going, all right, buddy, go to work.

Speaker 2 (01:17:52):
Thank you so much. Renee.

Speaker 3 (01:17:53):
All right, hey, thank you, good talking to you.

Speaker 4 (01:17:55):
And anytime you want to talk.

Speaker 2 (01:17:57):
Give me, Holliver, i'most send you a text. I hadn't
played down there and hundred years. I got to come
see you.

Speaker 6 (01:18:01):
You can come.

Speaker 7 (01:18:02):
Hey.

Speaker 5 (01:18:02):
It's great.

Speaker 7 (01:18:03):
Love to have you bring a group out. We love
to have you.

Speaker 2 (01:18:05):
Thank you.

Speaker 7 (01:18:05):
Man, By bye, thank you, thank you?

Speaker 4 (01:18:07):
Okay, bye bye?

Speaker 2 (01:18:09):
All right.

Speaker 6 (01:18:10):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:18:11):
I knew he was busy, and I appreciate that ten
minutes of his life. When he's got a major international
event coming up in six days. Yeah, he's got a
full plate every day. That's gonna be a good event.
There's no question about it. It's gonna be a good event.
And the women's events, I can say from experience, are
very relatable for the average guy who plays golf.

Speaker 1 (01:18:35):
These women, you got to just swallow your pride.

Speaker 2 (01:18:37):
Okay. They hit it. A lot of those women hit
it a lot farther than you and I do. I
don't care who you are. They hit it.

Speaker 1 (01:18:44):
All of them hit it a lot straight than most
of us do.

Speaker 2 (01:18:48):
But what I like is that they find themselves probably
a little more often than the PGA tour players with
shots into greens. They they miss agreen somewhere and have
little chips and pitches and stuff that you and I
would have playing, and I love watching them and watching

(01:19:09):
how they set up for those shots, watching how they
read their putts, all these things that I'm a little
more comfortable with comparing to my game than that of
Roy McElroy and Scottie Shuffler. They're on another planet. Okay,
everybody who's going to play in the Ryder Cup another planet.

(01:19:30):
But the women's events, really, the professional women are way
better than you and I probably will ever be, but
they hit the ball about the same distance, so they
end up with the same types of shots that you
and I hit. It's really if you could just swallow
your pride and forget that you're a dude and just
go out there and watch these women navigate these courses,

(01:19:54):
watch how they set up, watch where they're aiming. Because
they're professionals, they know not to shoot at every pen.
They know to figure out where's the best place they
can put the ball so that they'll be in good
shape after that ball gets there. I could go on
and on about how interesting it is to compare their
games to ours. We got to take a little break

(01:20:16):
here on the way out Carter's Country. Sixty plus years
I've been talking about well, I have been actually talking
about Carter's Country for fifty years. I know that because
I wasn't that old when I first discovered Carter's Country,
and I was glad I did. They've got three stores
around town and of course a huge online presence now

(01:20:38):
that's come about gradually and really been refined, and they
have well, they're basically selling gunzamo on hunting stuff all
over since Bill Carter opened it a long time ago.
After he passed, his family took the reins and have
continued his legacy by doing the same thing. Gunzamo on
hunting stuff. No football is, no snrakeles, no sneakers, no

(01:21:02):
tennis rackets, just the stuff you need to enjoy hunting
and shooting in the great outdoors. Carter's Country has a
full service range and gunsmithing available at that flagship store
up on trush Wig by the Airport, the Big Airport.
They've got the other two locations around town to make
sure anyone and everything can get what they need before

(01:21:22):
hunting season starts, which is Monday. If you can't get
to the store, go online. Check it all out by
the way right now, Red tag sale time every year
this time of year, right before hunting season, they put
out all these red tags all over the stores and
online where you can get stuff you whether you want
it or need it, you put it in your bag.

(01:21:44):
Why not, because the price you're gonna get it for,
whatever it is, is going to be the best price
you'll ever see on that thing. Flashlights, guns, Ammo, reloadings,
whatever it's on sale, probably something in that whatever you're
looking at is on sale at Carter's Country right now.
Carterscountry dot Com is the website I've known this family for,

(01:22:08):
like I said, fifty years or better, Carterscountry dot Com.
I'm gonna tell you about Champions Tree Preservation once more
before we have to check out of here. Hurricane Barrel,
hurricane anything. If you've lived here long enough, you've been
through a hurricane. And one of the first things you
see when when the wind stops blowing and you can
get outside and drive around a little bit, you're gonna

(01:22:30):
see trees tipped over sideways in the street, in people's yards,
on their cars, on their homes. That's not a good thing.
Champions Tree Preservation can make sure that doesn't happen at
your house by making sure your trees are healthy and strong.
If they are, they can probably take that hurricane blow.
If they're not, they need to either be fed, they

(01:22:53):
may need to be pruned, they may need to be
taken out altogether. And Champions Tree Preservation arborous are gonna
come and tell you what your trees need to survive.
If you need to take a tree out, they hate
doing that. It's called Champions Tree Preservation for a reason.
But if they have to take a tree out, if
it's just not savable, then you can have them pick

(01:23:16):
something from their tree farm which grows native Texas trees,
not any wild exotic thing is gonna come out of
there that can't stand our humidity or our heat, or
our cold or whatever. Champions Tree Preservation will make sure
that your yard and your trees are one hundred percent
ready to go for the storm season. And we're smack
in the middle of that right now. Whether you want

(01:23:37):
to believe it or not. Hope we don't get one,
but if we do, your trees will make it through
championstree dot Com. Call them, get one of their arborists
to come to your house and diagnose your trees. Two
eight one three two zero eighty two zero one two
eight one three two zero eighty two zero one Champions

(01:23:57):
Tree dot Com eight fifty one on Sports Talk seven nine. Ay,
the Doug Pike Show only got about seven more minutes
to go because we're gonna make room four taking Vegas
the first show of the football season for them. I'm
glad to have them back on the air here in Houston.
And when we have to take ut football games at ten,

(01:24:20):
which is normal time for taking Vegas, that means I'm
gonna make room by giving up my third hour on Saturday.
And it's it's all gonna work out just fine. Let's
get to these phone calls before we get to the end, John,
what's up?

Speaker 6 (01:24:35):
Man?

Speaker 7 (01:24:36):
Well, I was about to throw the red flag protest
flag for going to golf before the nine o'clock hour,
but you just sort of explain you get a pass on,
thank you, thanks, Because anyway, the pocket Knights thing, yeah,
I'd like to know that. Did your grandpa or whoever
you gave your play, did he have a tether on

(01:24:57):
that thing? No, because the half life on my pocket
knives is about six months usually, so I buy the Oh.

Speaker 2 (01:25:05):
Yeah, let me tell you what I fell in love
a long time ago with the Leatherman Micra. That's the
one that has a little pair of scissors on it
and the other garbage I only and actually it's got
two little screwdrivers, a flathead, and a Phillip's head.

Speaker 1 (01:25:19):
It's got everything you need.

Speaker 2 (01:25:21):
And the only time you will ever catch me not
with a Leatherman micro in my pocket is if I've
just gone through security at the airport and got out
of my car and ran away two things.

Speaker 7 (01:25:33):
Oh yeah, well exactly, I've left several my go to
It's because I because I lose too many. Is not

pro about eight bucks academy, you get a little gerber.

it never wears a blade down because it's it slides

(01:25:55):

guy the t s a guys at the.

Speaker 6 (01:26:04):

Speaker 7 (01:26:08):
I climb out of the truck and it's in the
grass somewhere, And but I have found a couple in
the grass going back after years up there's that one
I lost back in three I got you, Yeah, gets
it down.

Speaker 6 (01:26:19):
How he got it down to the place.

Speaker 7 (01:26:21):
Where where it's worn down. Mine gets bout two or
three sharpenings and then it's it's.

Speaker 2 (01:26:27):
Where it goes somewhere. Then it's somewhere, all right, John,
straight from you? All right, take this, sir, audios. Let's
go to you up faux pro folk Pro. You're gonna
get the final word probably today, knowing you. What's up?

Speaker 4 (01:26:42):
Hey, No, not much, man, do a little uh do
a little prep work for my my bellfooting trip and
my fishing trip coming up this week. Digging through my
dad's old tackle old hand and built back when people
build their old wooden tackle boxes, I'm sure you've seen them. Yeah,
and uh go through that still living for the right
kind of wire. I'm about to use bailing wire at this.

Speaker 2 (01:27:02):
Point, but you can't.

Speaker 4 (01:27:05):
You can find wire, but I'll wait till I get
like you said, on that side of it. I'm sure
I'll find every.

Speaker 2 (01:27:12):
Yeah, they're not a lot swimming around Lake Livingstone that
requires a wire leader, So you're not going to find
that up there.

Speaker 6 (01:27:19):
Yes, I'm just doing that.

Speaker 4 (01:27:20):
D some old dad's tackle box. I found the old
wine whiggler.

Speaker 2 (01:27:24):
Oh wow, holy cow. Yeah that is old man, I
can remember I was. I'm old enough that I could
buy those brand new in a tackle store.

Speaker 6 (01:27:33):

Speaker 4 (01:27:33):

Speaker 10 (01:27:36):

Speaker 1 (01:28:13):
About it on the air?

Speaker 2 (01:28:14):
You sure?

Speaker 6 (01:28:15):

Speaker 3 (01:28:16):

Speaker 4 (01:28:16):

Speaker 4 (01:28:18):
So, so my neighbor across the street that I fished
with sometimes asked me, because you out there by yourself?
I said yeah, So I called him. I said, man,

for a few croppy for my daughter. I said, if
