Speaker 1 (00:00):
Morning, and welcome to a Thursday edition of The Matt
Thomas Show at Ross. This is Sports Talk seven at
(00:23):
these Little Time. Oh God, love you all, blue Eyes,
and I feel like we do this at least once
a year, but it's just never gonna change. The greatest
song ever about a city period, end of story, not
(00:45):
even debatable. I'll go with a fuggy day in London Town.
Oh my god, I'm kidding. We got Jonathan Baggs got
a fresh haircuts. It's good to see a smiling face.
Back looks for fresh. Yeah, it's from them. He's ready
for you to yell at him again. His testicles are
in regular size today. Well, we don't know how that. Well,
(01:06):
they're probably all right, right. Are you checking? No, he's
the one who admits it frequently. Why are you checking
another man's hog net? This is weird into the show. No,
rather not, rather not? You go in there and do
that privately. Yeah, suck at Yankees, key sucking Yankees. He
went to the game, didn't He suck at James and
(01:27):
guard Noaks w FA in sixty six on your day. Okay,
so we have to go through a pluthor. Oh god,
she's amazing today. All right, Matt. See, Matt tricked me.
He was like, put it on able to be network.
It's not like you we're gonna watch some baseball stuff.
He really watching some shi hoti and I like it. Shihati?
Speaker 2 (01:50):
All right?
Speaker 1 (01:51):
And what position does she play? Anywhere she wants to play? Yeah,
I thought you were gonna say catch it all right? Anyways,
all right, Uh, first of all, outstanding come back. It
does make a difference when you have the greatest hitter
in your lineup available to you.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
So funny how that works. It does work out that way.
The homeplate umpire is the greatest of all time. Apparently.
You could do a Google search on him and you
can find a plethora of strike calls that are missed.
I mean game after game, team after team, and honestly, man,
(02:29):
I listened to Aaron Boone's postgame press conference and is
in there. In there he got tossed, He got tossed,
but he was much more. He was reserved talking about
whether it's a call. Mister two here and again, heat
of the moment, you're gonna say a lot of things,
but that homeploate umpire last night was clearly team Astro.
Brian Walsh is his name. Hey, that last call was
(02:50):
on the edge of the edge of the edge, And
I brought this up on the tenth Inning Show with you,
and I want to get your honest opinion. I know
you weren't listening.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
I was.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
By the way, you would have loved three clus hour game.
Had a decent number of calls. That's good. Let me
get to the umpire scorecard first. Brian Walsh is the
gumpire's name. Okay, Overall accuracy ninety percent, that's not good.
That's not great. Overall favor plus one point four runs
for Houston. That's they want to devastating one by one.
(03:22):
Overall consistency ninety percent, that's also not good. Three most
impactful calls. Bottom of the eighth Williams Sir tremail two outs,
bases loaded, two oher count. Strike is called a ball
Tremail wound up walking. That was the lead uh that
gave the Astros a lead. On that bottom of the
first warnedel two of a one out runner at first
(03:44):
one two count strike is called a ball that did
make a difference. Top of the fourth, Alexander to Stanton,
no outspaces empty two zero count ball that is called
a strike. Cold ball accuracy ninety three percent at average
seven called strike accuracy eighty five percent is the average
excuse me, hey his eighty five The averages eighty eight percent,
so well below average. Yeah, so I don't ever want
(04:08):
to hear from people, and I won't mention names. Adam Claymon,
this stuff evens out. I tell you this over and
over and over again. The astros caught I don't know,
at least four to five calls yesterday that wereked that
would have been reviewed and changed if for the ABS.
But let me ask you this, and I brought this
up on the tenth Thonic Show last night. The box hurts.
(04:32):
And we've talked about this many times. Yes, when you
take it away it's hard, or when they make it,
you know, like More's special single time stadiums Ross he
missed a bunch of calls, but they weren't atrociously missed. No,
And so I think if you were to say human
(04:52):
element stays in the sport, you could say how many
true true calls are like the embarrassing you shouldn't be
behind home plate calls now there and if you go
look on, if you go Google, or go on on
Twitter to find Brian Walsh. You can find some heart
of the plate strikes that were not called in other games.
(05:14):
And I don't remember if there was one per se
last night that was so blatantly off the zone. Yes,
that's why you're gonna get mad at me. But but
my point is this, and I'll let you finish. There
were miss calls, a lot of them benefit the Astros,
but they weren't so bad off that I'm thinking this
(05:36):
guy needs to be fired from his job. That's why
they do the umpscorecard you were reading has expected accuracy
because calls in the edge, if somebody's missing, If every
ball goes down the middle, you're expected accuracies one hundred percent.
If everything's on the edge, you're expected actually goes down.
So his accuracy was ninety percent. Has expected accuracy's only
ninety one. There's a lot of calls on the edge.
(05:57):
There was a lot of edge calls. Yes, So it's
to your point. So as much as I want to say,
my god, that was a horrifically called game that I've
seen Brian Walsh do way worse. He had a lot
of difficult decisions to make, and yeah, you have a
ball coming in with movement at ninety five miles an
hour or whatever, and you're judging an imaginary box. It's tough.
(06:22):
It's a hard job. It is a very hard job.
That's why when you say you can give to the machine,
let's help, the machines can help you. Yes, let's now
let the help. Let the machines help out, rather than
using an imaginary box that could actually get every call right.
But I refused to because the box doesn't lie. And look,
we've argued about how much we love box. We love
(06:45):
the box because it does absolutely give you what you want.
I'm more of a beat guy. Oh you are, yeah,
beat over the box for sure. Oh, I'm definitely team
Box seven one or two one two five seven ninety
seven one three two one two five seven untie huge win,
(07:07):
must win. And just what we have today debuting at
ten thirty. Oh, we might have done this before, actually, MS,
I think we might have. We did a couple of
years ago. Oh, I don't forget. I barely recorded last
week last year. We're gonna do I'm not saying we did.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
For sure.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
We're gonna do MS at ten thirty. We're gonna go
to the Mariner's Twitter account and see how they're feeling
because they were down as you sat down to watch
the Astros game, or listen to it here on seven
ninety the Mariners were down eight nothing after the first
second inning. They scored the race, scored four a piece
in both the first and second inning. God bless first
of all, God bless the Rays. And secondly, God bless
(07:46):
the fact the Mariners just blank the bet on the road.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
They just do.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
And thirdly, God blessed CJ. Stroud. Oh my god, he
won the Mariners the best, hardly winning, just the best.
They're playing like two seventy five balls since he put
the uniform, he put the hat on. You're welcome, Houston.
And look, if he survives this week, we'll really want
to thank him next week. But my thought is he
could be breaking his leg this Sunday against the Rams.
(08:10):
And also, congratulations the hitting coaches doing a great job
with you. Ord On Alvaris, Well, it's funny because you
know he got four for five. Yeah, he was going
for five hit games, something that Hosale two has never done.
He swung at a pitch about one inch off the
ground trying to get that fifth hit. Groundball to second base.
(08:30):
But the reality is this, people are like, no, this
gives further indictment against sitting order ol Ray's what if
the day off freshened him up exactly, That's what I'm saying.
That's what I'm saying. If his hand was sore two
days ago and yesterday he was fresh, so we got
four hits.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
Yeah, you don't know.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
I don't know. We don't know these things. I don't
want to I don't want to talk about it right now.
We do know, however, that it's universal. There ain't anybody
buying this cross up thing anymore. You're a aw roh,
my annihilated. Every baseball content creator on the planet is
wayed in yep. And you know what's funny, Like ninety
(09:13):
nine percent of them are ex players that are like, Man,
I know these wars. I've been the major league dugout before.
I've been in a major league field. I know what
I see as a cross up or I see somebody
being a douche, and Framber's that.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
I mean.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
The question is gonna be how much did Fromber cost him?
Now does one start making situation? No, but his reputation
for the last two months which was already sketchy to
begin with, is further on ever since he opened his Twitter.
You know what getting on social media poisons your mind? Yeah,
I mean again because whoever's running the account, and I
know somebody says, oh, it's going to be Fromer. There's
no chances fromber very fuch.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
He says it is now.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
Of course, it doesn't mean he's running it correct. All right,
we have a very busy show today. We have Brian
McTaggart at eleven o'clock today. Oh, wonderful, eleven thirty. I
just don't get it. We're going to check in in
Los Angeles with the host of the Sean McVay TV
show for ABC seven is going to join us today.
Not Sean McVay, but the host. Okay, and he'll join us,
(10:07):
I think either twelve or twelve twenty, depending on what
time works best for him. Wonderful. We have believe it
or not? Today? Oh great? And uh just soon news
at noon. You and Jonathan's back. Jonathan is back and
Nuts is back, and we have an NFL opener tonight.
That's right, Cowboys Eagles. Yeah, eight and a half points.
(10:30):
I don't know if the NFL i don't know. If
the NFL folks said, you know, let's put a game one,
the very first game on the season where one I'm not.
I haven't either. It's got to be at least fifty, right,
I wanted this man, Maybe I heard forty six and
a half from my making that really you, I'm just
throwing a number again. I'm just guessing me too. Yeah,
that's gonna be some points. I feel like tonight, oh,
(10:51):
forty eight and a half. Okay, So I can we
split the difference on that. By the way, Jordan, with
that four hit day yesterday, still sticking at one home run,
which means in theory, if we're playing the price is right,
my gut feeling is better than your gut field. Okay,
so you think he's not. It's it's September fourth. He
ain't gonna get one more. No, I'm just saying, for now,
I take wins. I had to. Well, you took it
(11:12):
the loss. You said he wasn't gonna hit any You
thought he wasn't gonna play the rest of the season.
Your money, now what money? You know, when you tie
a parlay, you gotta save your money. You tie it,
you don't you know you get like a cash out.
Nobody already lost. He said zero, and it's going over zero, Jonathan,
we're playing the prices, right, okay, Oh yeah, okay, okay,
(11:32):
it's a lesson for you. Injuries aren't predictive. Yeah, all right,
here's some exciting news, is all right? So last night
Devin Williams pitches for the Yankees, and that's a godsend
because he sucks, and he has sucked all year long.
All my Yankee buddies hate Devin Williams. He got tossed,
Aaron Boone got tossed, and then Chazz Jazz Chisholm got
(11:53):
called out in the game yesterday, so he wasn't happy.
And then he was telling people on oh, I'm sorry
you pull to me. You just pulled to Jonathan. I
don't know, so I'm gonna just forget race. Would Ross
just said you delete that soups. A guy named Damon
ninety eight goes, this is absolutely uncalled for and disgusting
(12:15):
behavior by Jazz Chisholm, a gross representation of our great sport.
A suspension of ten games feels like the appropriate course
of action. Jazz chishom goes to his Twitter account and
says s MD. So he's having a sound mind to
day on what does that mean? It's uh, it's actually
it's a barbecue term. It's a sizzle meat delicately. M Okay,
(12:43):
I gotta be honest with you. And I've been on
Twitter since two thousand and eight. I want to say
two different account, three different accounts won my account in Minneapolis.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
I had the.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
Bernard Thomas over here. Well I got I got the
wait busses h ou, which is good. The media will
in the dining room with they asked for is like,
you're going to break that way, break up the way
of the night. I said, God willing, I'm going to
Oh yeah, she's nice, she's nice.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
And then I had, ah, what was the one when
my when I account blessings, blessing something like that. So
I've had I've had three or four. But point being
is this, I've never I've been rude to people on
Twitter before, and I've told them what they can do
it themselves, but I've never sworn at them like I
don't like to swear on them. I may have done
it like once, it is what it is. You got
(13:28):
in a fight with some man on Twitter, yesterday. No, Well,
I did have violence threatened against me. That's every day
on Ross's I didn't realize. I guess I'm looking at
your timeline. More off, I'm making jokes about the hitting coaches.
Uh huh, and then people are getting taken it way
too seriously, calling me a narcissist and threatening violence. Well
one of those is true. Oh come on, what you know, Jonathan?
(13:56):
How does Ross here we go? Here comes the biggest
projection in the history of radio. I said, when he
lives on to tell the truth is does he take
it like a man? Or does he piss am one
about it? You know, because generally you have bad takes
when I lose. See, that's the reaction we get. It's perfect,
it fits all right? Uh seven one three two, one
two five. But I've never told anybody SMD You've thought it, Oh,
(14:21):
no question. I mean my difference is he hit post?
And you know my favorite is is what I tell people,
Hope you don't get in a car accident. Yes, but
if you do, hope your injuries are minimal. Yes, and
I think way worse like my tech if you if
we were ever super close friends and I gave you
my number, you would be amazed and disappointed at me
(14:44):
at the same time about how rude I can be.
I would say amazing disappointed is about accurate. I mean
it's fair. I can't argue that at all. Seven one
three two one two five seven Nintie seven one three
two one two five Sevenatti Brian is with us at
ten twenty five four of them. Matt Thomas showed Ross
Brian good morning.
Speaker 5 (15:03):
I an't good morning, guys.
Speaker 6 (15:04):
I've got a couple of questions for you, but a
quick just point on last night's game. When you start
to see this offensive what it can be. I think
last night was a better indication and hopefully we see
a little bit more of that.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
You ord to just makes such a difference.
Speaker 6 (15:18):
If you can get myers back, it just Lengthen's outline
up one more spot, one more spot, so that that helps.
I was encouraged to see Paradus actually taking ground balls.
Speaker 7 (15:27):
And man, if you could somehow get.
Speaker 6 (15:29):
That back, even if in a DA troll and figuring
out how to maybe incorporate him with some days off
for some other guys, that'd be huge, because I think
a lot of these struggles started when when he left,
but then a couple of questions and one thing I
don't get.
Speaker 8 (15:48):
And you know, it happened mainly.
Speaker 7 (15:50):
Because Luis Garcia started it.
Speaker 6 (15:51):
But I know a couple of years ago MLB sent Hima,
I guess a note saying he had to change the
rock the baby, otherwise it would be considered a But
I wonder if they said the same thing. If you
guys have ever watched like Johnny Queto, he used to
do like a deal where you're like shucked and jugged
and I dropped his shoulders, and Nestor Cortez looks like
(16:12):
sometimes when he throws, he's having a seizure.
Speaker 8 (16:15):
Uh, you know, he'll like, what's that leg around and
do all of that.
Speaker 7 (16:19):
And so I wonder if I guess, what.
Speaker 9 (16:21):
I don't get is.
Speaker 10 (16:24):
How they can call that and say what Garcia was
doing was a balk. But they still allowed Nestor Cortez
to get away with the uh some of the stuff
he's doing because like he'll lift his leg and kind
of make a move, but that leg won't crossed, so, uh, pologize,
I'm going through the car washing here's some access.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
No, that's okay, We'll let you go.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
We got you.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
Thank you, thank you for a phone call.
Speaker 11 (16:46):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (16:47):
In fact, was it he rocked the baby fully from
the wind up? Yeah, of course nobody on babes. Hold up?
Hold up? Who was the uh who got the balks?
There was a balk last night that uh your when
Albarez saw coming he matter of fact, he whispered it
to the umpire and the UI. That was a balk.
I'm trying to think it was a duval Orvall or
(17:07):
was it wasn't Williams. I'm trying to look at the
box score helped me out here, Houston, Texas? Who was
the there was a there was a balk? Oh it
was Dovall. Yeah, he was rocking. He was rocking. Will No,
it's Deval. I'm looking at the box score in the
eighth Uh yeah, it was a nath inning.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
So I don't know if you saw it, but Jordan
saw Dovall do what he did, and he basically stepped
in front of the bag and the in front of
the plate and said man and then part like oh yeah, yeah,
that guy came around and said, oh, it's a ball.
Everybody went crazy. So here's what I was told about Garcia.
They told him along ahead of time. We've been watching
you and it's not legal, So I think it's going
(17:49):
to be questioned out of if. But when there's if,
there are questionable deliveries being made in baseball, the umpires
will go to the union and say, we've got you
got a picture of yours that we believe is balking
at time. So you're getting away with it now, that's good.
I don't think they're being selective about who they're saying,
don't use this delivery and don't who's not so dove
(18:09):
All was a great example of that last night. He's
a rocker, and one of the reasons they wanted to
not rock the baby is because of the pitch clock.
So I don't know how much of it was about
a bock or his movement, or how much of it
was the pitch clock. It could be both.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (18:28):
By the way, I did get a very interesting real
quick forget to and Mariner's overactions. I did get a
caller yesterday, elderly gentlemen. His name was doctor something. I
forgot his name. He doesn't go by his first name. No,
he's dead. Thanks for asking, uh, doctor whatever. And he said,
I'm trying to think of the exact phrasing he said.
(18:49):
So he calls the show and he says, I know
I'm about to give you a very unpopular tape. And
I was setting myself up now. Granted I was also
signed Billy Wagner. I was very tired yesterday. He said,
the moral thing to do would be to release from
ber Valdez. What the things are more important in life
(19:10):
than the way he acted two days ago? Okay? And
I said, I said, honestly, sir doctor whatever his name was,
I said, I would treat that just the opposite. If
you released him with a month left to go in
the season, you would be, I think, significantly hurting the
(19:30):
astros chances to win the division. I still think Romer
is going to have something left in the tank. And
he just like some things are more important life than winning.
And I'm like, that is actually not accurate. In baseball,
the most in any team sports you play, the most
important thing is winning. It's not like he pulled out
a pistol and shot him. Well, some felt that way.
He was angry and frustrated and well crossed up his catcher.
(19:53):
All right, let me ask you boys this do we
go with a Seattle based song, for ms. Okay, what
do you mean like? Uh Stonetan Pilots, Pearl Jam, Nirvana,
Uh Sir mix a lot, Jimmy Hendrick, I'm kidding, Jimmy Hendrix.
I'm gonna let you two of you figure out which
song you want to come back with.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
Now.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
I remember, I'm gonna be reading things over these this songs,
so let's not make sure it's it's something so crazy
that nobody will understand the message we have. M's Mariner
over reactions next ten to twenty nine Sports Talk seven
ninety way, decide to go against the grunge and go
to the good old fashioned song that just hits. Get ready,
(20:37):
relax and by the way, for the honor of Fromber,
he's gonna stay. It'd be dishonorable to release him. As
we present to you something we like to call Mariners
over reaction. M oh, let's go Mariners over reaction right
here on seven ninety all right, The Mariner's Twitter account
(21:02):
last night says headed to Atlanta for a three game set,
no no final Tampa Bay nine Seattle four sure flight
about an hour, how many likes and fifty nine likes,
ten book marks, one hundred and twenty three retweets. I'll
let you have the retweets. Side quotes, Yeah, four hundred
(21:25):
nineteen comments, four hundred nights, four hundred nineteen. Here we
go a picture of a guy choking that says, that's
a choke job. That coming from at Justice Sparky. Next
fate is Crypto three team only meeting tomorrow and then
go do something fun. Okay, I guess a little relaxed
(21:49):
team building exercise. Red Raiderman says, Raiders catching you by midnight.
That didn't happen because the Rangers lost yesterday. Joe from
Seattle says, bro did the Mariners lose? Says try and
ince up my ass. Cyrex says seventy three sixty seven,
(22:10):
goodbye playoffs, and it says sell the send the Seattle logo.
Oh Man at Tarzan one two one one nine says
this team needs Jesus. Let's see here. Uh At Jeffrey
with a bunch of numbers says Atlanta's excited to see
a well playing, well managed team. Yikes, that feels personal.
(22:32):
At Juhiniosarez multi colored whatever, lou Panella curses again. Oh
and two since meeting, I guess he was at a
game Earlier this week, at b j Elferson says, sell
the team and fire everyone. I'm tired of this poverty
franchise at Kevin R. Burnett says they need a rainout
or three. Let's see here at Eddie Lindenstein says they
(23:02):
haven't won a road serious since I opted back into
my season tickets. Sorry everyone, So guys like I'm committing
and now they've lost. Let's see here. Oh at Paul
Underscore dB says Mariners are who we thought they were. Okay,
(23:22):
let's see here, oh at loss underscore Jayden, I speak
for everyone in all caps when I say that we
are done with you. The NFL starts tomorrow and we
are no longer watching at Coco's crazy Card says, well,
maybe we will make the playoffs another year. Liz Buck
(23:43):
just says please win. Oh at Ryot the Mute says,
so we're just giving up on this season, right, Let's
see atch collectibles, Dan Wilson out, that's our manager. Let's
see oh, sticks and home fries. Bruh, what are you doing?
Speaker 2 (24:03):
Why? Why is the.
Speaker 1 (24:04):
Annual breakdown so on point? And let's do a couple
more here. Anything on the retweet side that you want
to mention. Oh no, I was still looking at the
replies as well. I like this flask with the Mariners
logo on it. Let's see that's true. Paperback rider Tim
Brindle says, don't worry. A lot of teams break their slump.
(24:25):
Versus the Braves at Rocky with a bunch of numbers
as the team finally trades for bats and the whole
team lays an egg. And let's see a couple more here.
This is pathetic. It feels like we just never will
get over the hump and actually have a legitimate World
Series contender. And oneah, go ahead, says Mariners forgot how
(24:49):
to play baseball. Let's see another Mariner's loss, and it's
a oh, here's one for you meet him of Trump
looking at something. Keep going past Atlanta to Cancun, Thanks prayer, Sidnes,
And that, my friends, is mos Oh, let's go m oh,
(25:13):
let's go Mariners. Over reaction right here in seven ninety
just good when somebody else has those reactions. Yeah, see everyone,
not everyone. Certain sectors of the fan base who like
to be miserable every single day could be worse. My
guy Mike's sent me ten emails yesterday are you serious?
(25:34):
Ur in the game? Yeah, what did he say when
they won? He didn't. Oh, you didn't say anything when
they won the freaking game. I was like, these are
the jackasses I hate. I'm sorry, Mike, You're a miserable
human being. I was thinking about foreigning to you. I
don't want them. I told you block his email. Please
you can do it. No, no, it pisses me off.
(25:54):
They the game, you don't say, Hey, nice Rally, great
job yord On. What a wonderful win by the Astros,
Briana Bray. You gave up a three run shot and
they still won the game. Congratulations Stros four games up
in first place. Let's go. Can I read him? How
(26:15):
about we do this? Let's read them to a song.
Let's read them while I take it like deep breadths. Okay,
try to focus on positive things, you know what? Okay,
what's a good what's a song? What's your happiest song?
When you need a song? And I'll let you want
to uh feel good? Oh no, no, no, no no, no,
I mean let's get you. How about Marvin Gaye, Let's
(26:36):
get it on. That's no, that's a that's a sexual song. Okay,
how about lovely day, Bill withers. That's that's good and
that's not yacht rock.
Speaker 2 (26:45):
All right?
Speaker 1 (26:45):
Hit all right, Jonathan, Let's get some lovely day going here,
because I want to read Mike about this. You read
a couple of sentences of him, and then I will
talk about something that's positive and good.
Speaker 2 (26:54):
Can we do that?
Speaker 1 (26:55):
Mike sends me an email, I don't have the time
seven to fifty three. Can any one on this effing
team hit fire? The hitting coach? Turn it up? They
scored eight runs? Then he sends me an email at
eight sixteen, Why do you think I'm crazy? They've all
been ruined by Cintron. There are major internal problems going
on too. I told you our nerd the third burisment
(27:15):
could get some blanks started. Well, it's a mess right now.
Speaker 2 (27:19):
You know.
Speaker 1 (27:20):
We all woke up this morning and every day is
a gift in this life of ours, and an opportunity
to put smiles on our face and smiles on the
faces of others. Eight twenty three. God, this team frustrates me.
Some of my favorite things in life are puppies. Our
young children are toddlers. A child's laugh. Getting a wonderful,
(27:41):
loving text from someone that you care about. Eight thirty
one mile on your face. My eyeballs are burning watching this.
I'm so glad I don't have a show tomorrow and
have to talk to people like me. Turn it up,
Mike Snell at eight fifty nine, killing it today, No
more effing days off. That's some about Alvarez. Then he
(28:02):
comes in around at ten oh two and says, okay,
I never saw this comeback coming. Okay, at least he
said something positive. Then he follows it at ten twenty eight,
almost blew it gift third stripe. Oh my god, that's it.
I needed to block. I needed to block this person.
I don't know. It's a good bit. It's a good bit.
Mike the unhappy astro fan. Hmmm. We always like a
(28:28):
little Bill Wethers man. I'm so sorry he passed. I mean,
everybody's gonna pass. But damn that getting. What a magical
voice you got to see when when sometimes I'm in
a bad mood on the way home from work after
my ninety mile drive or a running minute drive, I
put Bill Withers on it. I rolled the windows and
I yelled a song lovely day. It gets people going,
it does I love that people are like, who's that
really attractive ballman in the car singing Bill Withers. One
(28:49):
person has ever thought or said that there's not many,
many many single there are women in this town. Like
are you married? I'm like, yes, very happily married. Thanks
for asking, though I'm here. But you know I can't.
I can't. I can't satisfy all of you. You know what,
Matt where I'm trying to be positive. Yeah, you're great,
You're extremely I don't think I need you desirable. I
(29:11):
don't think you and you're the pick. Yeah, you heard him.
He likes me. You know, everybody's gonna like me. That's fine,
you look great, Matt. All right. Brian McTaggart in seventeen
minutes now, apparently he's on a boat, what like a cruise? No,
he's like, he's gonna get service. He's That's what I'm saying,
Colin is from a satellite phone. How many times it
(29:32):
is the feed going to be interrupted during that?
Speaker 8 (29:34):
Great?
Speaker 1 (29:35):
I'm really looking forward to this. I'm just throwing it
out there as a possibility. Or does he get off
the boat, come in and do a nice commercial visit
with us without having no word about ay, that kind
of stuff, all right, Well the way forgot to Berention
Spirits su Spencer Urraghetti is uh on the injury list
with elbow, so we didn't have to mention that elbow
(29:56):
inflammation Matty, oh excuse me, which is what Brandon Walters
had for like a month plus and then he got
shut John, you suck paratus is taking ground balls. We
didn't hear the way. Did we hear anything about Josh
Hater He was supposed to follow up imaging by the way,
I would not be I'm sorry he's not playing this year.
(30:18):
I mean, I don't think so either. I give him
plenty of support for trying to do it, but it's
just not happening. Well, one step in his recovery was
getting some good news from the imaging and trying to
resume baseball activities, and he's doing that, So I'm with you,
it's probably not going to be. I could probably be
an impact player for the Astros down the stretch. At
(30:39):
least he's out there. At least he feels good enough
to be running at fifty percent. He's at that that
is seven one three two one two, and he's given
a lease a try seven one three, two, one two,
five seven nine zero.
Speaker 2 (30:51):
Let me tell you.
Speaker 1 (30:52):
If you're threatening violence against my pal here sports RV,
you have to answer to me and let me let
me tell you something. I'm not going to physically fight
you that'll get them. I'm going to ruin you in
other ways. I everybody needs to relax. We're just talking
(31:15):
baseball on Twitter, folks. I know people. I don't know
as many people as Michael Barrett.
Speaker 2 (31:21):
But I know people.
Speaker 1 (31:22):
No or Tilman for Tito, I know people.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
John.
Speaker 1 (31:28):
You stay away from sports harps. All right, I think
I should be okay. I guess eleven o'clock McTaggart, eleven thirty.
I just don't get it. Telve o'clock News at noon.
We'll go to LA at twelve twenty. Man, what a
jam packed show. Yeah, it should be great. By the way,
one week from today the season debut up. Oh is
(31:52):
it Ross's Rotten five? Rotten five? Now, I've decided to
never do the Rotten five? When did you start with us?
I haven't done it, though, Okay, I've made an executi
decision with the Rotten five. First Floa. It's so good,
but it takes a lot of work on days where
you have to do the Rotten five, I will be doing.
Believe it or not, this makes a lot of sense. Yeah,
I want to be like Tea. Yeah, it's finally time
you shoulder some of the load on the show. Mister
(32:13):
Texas says, hey, I'm willing to contribute as much as
I can at the show.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
Who is that me?
Speaker 1 (32:17):
No, it's not you again the Jonathan. We had free
barbeue here from Del jbar m, sponsor of this station.
Free barbecue and some ribs, a lot of ribs, brisket, beans,
potato saile. Did I have potato salad? Yes? I have beans.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (32:34):
My sentence here all for Dan Matthews's birthday. And matt
got a plate of everything except you fraud? Why am
I fraud? I'd free delicious well smoked brisket. And he
calls himself, mister Texas. When you go to a Chinese
BFFETI you eat every item on the buffet line. No, no,
(32:54):
it was literally ribs and brisket. That's it. There was
no general chicken, there's no pepper stay, there's none of that.
I have two items of meat and you only got one.
You skip brisket. You're not mister Texas, I'm team Ribs
and when you think of Texas, you think of Ribs
and you think of me, and I don't think of you.
You were the worst, the worst. Doug on seven ninty,
(33:17):
Good morning, Hi guys, how are we all? Wonderful?
Speaker 2 (33:21):
Great? Excellent?
Speaker 9 (33:23):
Hey man, this might be a little bit early for
for the take about the whole situation was like, what's
the what's the segment that y'all have?
Speaker 1 (33:33):
I just don't get it? Eleven thirty, don't, don't, don't
start early, We don't, we won't. We don't do anything
premature on this show.
Speaker 9 (33:39):
Okay, So I would like to just say, never have
I ever? So maybe that's another good segment that you guys.
Speaker 1 (33:45):
Yeah, sounds great. We're not trying to get girls drunk
in the dorm room. Why don't you do that on
your podcast, Aggie Doug.
Speaker 9 (33:51):
Yeah, we can, we can. But but if y'all want it,
I'll be more than happy to let you have it.
You've been doing this for fifteen years, long than I have.
But guys, so you look at Astros Twitter last night
and never have I ever wanted to have Astros fans
Channel Yankee fans or even Patriot fans. I mean, can
(34:12):
we just act like we've been there before and just say, hey,
we'll pay attention when we get to the playoffs and
this going through this whole emotions of up and down.
Speaker 8 (34:22):
We're gonna lose.
Speaker 9 (34:23):
I mean, I mean Michael Michael was saying last Mike
Schwab was saying that, you know, we're gonna lose the
whole series. It's gonna get and then all of a
sudden we're back in the win column again. And we
not only do that, but we pick up a game
on Seattle and we pick up a game on Texas.
It's baseball, people, It's the way that it works. It's
up and it's down, it's back in its forth, it's
(34:44):
left and it's right. I mean, the whole situation with
baseball is I mean, Bull Durham is one of the
best movies of all time. And I think that a
lot of people need to understand Bull Durham, especially after
what happened with Framberg and Sala's art, because if Seala's ore,
if sellers are catches forever next time, I wouldn't be
shocked to see two to three home runs happening.
Speaker 8 (35:07):
And it's like a sure both.
Speaker 1 (35:09):
Oh, he's gonna pull He's gonna pull a He's gonna
pull a a. Uh, let's what was Kevin Cottzer's name
in the movie Crash Crash Davis. Crash Davis.
Speaker 9 (35:18):
Yes, sir, crash Davis. When you speak of me, speak, well,
there you go.
Speaker 8 (35:21):
But no, guys, I just think that.
Speaker 9 (35:23):
Astro Twitter needs to really really take a chill pill,
maybe some Santax something to calm everybody down, because I
have a really good feeling now that the numbers are
starting to turn a little bit. I realize that we're
going to Arlington, but I don't know, guys, that it's
starting to feel like that this is gonna be a
little bit of a playoff run.
Speaker 1 (35:41):
Well it's four games. Thank thank Adie for the phone call.
Astro's Twitter has always been the worst in the marketplace,
but it's at its all time worst this year, and
and god forbid how bad it's gonna be when they
don't make the playoffs. Because guess what this run is
going to ultimately end is the Atlanta Braves great run
(36:02):
of all those years it came to an end. Okay,
I'm glad It's just not just me. No, no, Astros, Twitter,
you are the worst by far and not even close
even over Texans. We're gonna win the Super Bowl. Goofy
ass Twitter. That's stupid too, because that's not has Mills
of the truth, right. I want to see more Graham Mertz.
Speaker 2 (36:20):
What what?
Speaker 1 (36:22):
Stop cussing discussing Graham Mertz? Okay, uh and then uh.
The worst part of Astros for the last forty eight
hours is I want this season to end. This isn't
worth it. There's seventy or fourteen games above five hundred
and four above Seattle. Brian mctagger, Brian mctaggler, Brian mctager,
can you find the Scott's Irishman? I want you to
(36:43):
come back with the Gilligans Island team because I believe
he's on a boat.
Speaker 2 (36:48):
He does.
Speaker 1 (36:49):
Right, then you hear bull check that started from this topic.
You're for a team. It's a strenuous schedule. Get to
the ballpark at three every day. You're writing to eleven
eleven thirty. Game went late last night to grind and
(37:09):
you're thinking yourself, well, the average beat reporters probably just
at his house taking a nap, maybe watching some of
his stories or the prices, right, now, Brian Mctackard's apparently
I've been selling this morning. Brian, where the hell are you?
Speaker 12 (37:25):
I'm at my house. Well, I was not on a boat.
I I live very close to water, so I can
make my morning walk. I have access to different water areas.
So yeah, at MLB dot Com money, I didn't realize
how much.
Speaker 1 (37:40):
Money you made. I spend some time in thought at
the water every day.
Speaker 2 (37:45):
It's great.
Speaker 1 (37:46):
You know, that's beautiful. You know we needed to Astros
twitter to do that, Brian, Yeah, it clears your mind.
Speaker 12 (37:52):
I went down there and I looked at the calm water,
and I started wondering about c J. Stroud wearing the
mariner's hat. Oh yeah, this is brilliant. He cursed the mariners,
God blessed. That's what That's what the water can do
for you.
Speaker 1 (38:06):
That's what the water can do for it all right, Now,
what can the baseball knowledge do for you as what
Brian mctiger does for us every Thursday here on the show.
First of all, great win last night. They the Astros,
I think, were beneficiary of a few calls. Clearly the
Yankees would agree with me on such a notion, but
it also underscores the value of Jordan Alvarez and what
(38:27):
he does the links in this lineup, and by the way,
he just strikes fear in opposing teams. And it's so
nice to have him back. And I don't care if
he takes a day off here and there, whatever the
case may be, because obviously, in my mind, Brian the
day off work because he came out with all guns
of blazing to that victory against the Yankees last night.
Speaker 12 (38:45):
Yeah, the swings on the five balls he put in
play were I mean, he crushed all five of those balls.
I mean, and you don't hear much about it because
the balls weren't in the air generally didn't hit any
home runs. But all five balls he hit, we're one
hundred three point five x velocity or higher. The only
other person to do that is since they started tracking
(39:09):
the x of velocities in twenty fifteen, is Sho hal Tani.
He did it last year and Alrez has done it twice. Now,
I mean that that was impressive. Yeah, he he just
adds a total different element in there. I mean, even
when he came back the first couple of games, they're
pitching around him already, even though he missed one hundred games.
They want no part of him. You know, he draws
four wats his first eight played appearances. He changes everything
(39:32):
in that lineup, and I think he's going to start,
you know, hitting the ball in the air eventually and
doing some serious damage. I mean, he's played in what
eight games, He's slashing four point thirty five is on
base is over five sixteen, he's slugging six on nine,
He's only hit one home run.
Speaker 1 (39:48):
So I think the best is still yet to come.
You know, the argument is are the Astros being patient enough?
Are they being too patient? There have been a lot
of single digit number innings by opposing pitchers of the
last probably the last month or so. Carlos Kray was
asked about that in the clubhouse a couple of days ago.
He says, look, we're aggressive. Where a type of team
(40:11):
that's going to try to get out in front of
these things. I didn't find it ironic at all. Tag
yesterday at the Astros started to make their move with
a lot of first pitch swinging.
Speaker 12 (40:23):
Yeah, I mean, I think, you know, facing a tough picture,
they kind of wanted to set the tone a little bit,
but especially when they got to that bullpen. They I
think they heaven Devin Williams was just like putting meat
in the water and they were sharks. They know he
can struggle at times, and you got to get him
up on the zone. And so I think they went
there with the mindset anything up in the zone, you know,
(40:45):
we're gonna we're gonna take or swing at. And he
proved to be a little bit wild. So the approach
against the relievers was was really good. You know, took
advantage from wildness and drew some walks and they got
a couple of big hits on that eighth inning.
Speaker 1 (40:58):
But yeah, right, I mean they can't go out and
just change their approach. I mean they do. Miss peretis
a lot, just with the amount of pitches he takes.
Speaker 12 (41:06):
But I don't think guys like Jiner or Altuve are
suddenly gonna start working counts deep. I mean, Yaner did
have a really good at batt late in the game.
I think he went nine pitches, ended up striking out.
He fouled a bunch of pitches off. But this team
is what it is, and uh, hey they got they
got Alvarez back, and you know, we saw how much
that can that can change the whole line.
Speaker 1 (41:27):
Continuing with Brian McTaggart here on Sports Talk seven ninety
and Brian, every season is kind of its own story,
and Jason Alexander has been a good part of that
story lately. I mean, how about him coming out of
nowhere and how long do you think that he can
just keep this up. He wasn't spectacular last night, gave
up a couple of runs, but he has been a
very important part of the Asher is trying to keep
(41:48):
this Boata float. Yeah, and I don't think he is
going to be spectacular. He's going to do you know
what he's done.
Speaker 12 (41:54):
I mean they've won the last seven games he started,
which is which is pretty incredible.
Speaker 2 (41:58):
So he's in this.
Speaker 1 (41:59):
Sorts I think through the end of the season. You know,
he doesn't do anything fancy. He just he strikes.
Speaker 12 (42:04):
He keeps him off balance, a sinker, sweeper change up.
He's very prepared. I mean, this Yankees lineup is very dangerous.
You know, I think everybody everybody in the lineup had
hit at least eighteen home runs. You know, they lead
to majors and home runs, so there's power up and
down this lineup. So giving up a couple of home runs.
You know, it's not the end of the world, but
he limited the damage after that, And yeah, I mean
(42:25):
he's you know, there's two or three guys you can say,
where would.
Speaker 1 (42:28):
They be without Blank and Jason Alexander is one of them.
Speaker 12 (42:31):
Considering the injuries they've had to the rotation and another
one they got yesterday with Spencer Arighetti.
Speaker 1 (42:37):
Yeah, that leads me to what my next question was
going to be with Raghetty. Obviously hard to speculate, we
don't know a whole lot, but obviously hard to feel
encouraged by elblow elbow inflammation. Yeah, it doesn't sound good.
Speaker 12 (42:51):
I mean, how many elbow inflammations that we've heard this
year and I don't think any of them have come back,
you know, Quicker very quickly. And the fact that he's
you know, there's three and a half weeks left in
the regular season. He's going to be out two weeks,
so without even knowing what's going on, the chances of
him coming back and pitching at the end of the
regular season, you know, don't look very good. I mean,
(43:12):
so where are they at with the rotation right now? Well,
I mean they had a six man rotation and so
now they had five guys in the rotation, Javier Brown, Garcia,
Valdez and Alexander and they have some days off coming up,
So I mean, you can stick with a five man rotation.
Speaker 1 (43:27):
That doesn't mean that.
Speaker 12 (43:30):
That Brown, Garcia, and Valdez are gonna have to pitch
on on four days rest. Uh, you know this weekend
the Astros, you know, going to be comfortable with that
or do they want to maybe slot aj Blueball in
there just to slide everybody.
Speaker 2 (43:43):
Down a day.
Speaker 12 (43:43):
But they have a day off Monday, and then you know,
all those guys could continue to pitch on five days
of rest. So not good news, certainly, but they the
fact that they did get Garcia back in Javy Air back,
they do have five guys now on the rotation, and
that might be the five.
Speaker 1 (44:02):
Guys they have to march forward with the end of
the season and end of the playoffs. Did you get
any recoon and all on Jake Myers. I know he
left the game early last night in Sugar Lane.
Speaker 2 (44:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 12 (44:12):
I got someone that at Suggerland told me that he
fouled the ball off his leg or shin or something
and left. So it doesn't appear it was Caps related,
so it might have just been precautionary.
Speaker 1 (44:24):
So I don't know him more than that. I mean,
he was scheduled to play.
Speaker 12 (44:29):
Again today, take Tomorrow off, and then join the Astros
in Arlington on Saturday, So I don't know if this
changes that or not. You know, the fact that they
have a four game lead, if they have to give
him a couple extra days, I think they'd be willing
to do that at this point.
Speaker 1 (44:41):
But we should get more information on him later today.
You know, we have not talked to you on air
since the whole Fromber situation. It has been universal in
terms of the national perspective. And I know that Joe
a spot a minute a point yesterday to say, you
know what, I don't look at social media, but people
have told me that social media has attacked the from
(45:02):
Ber Valdez situation, and hopefully it is something that will
not linger for this team. But the amount of major
league players that are now analysts that have come to
the defense of Caesar Salazar and not to from Burvaldez,
it certainly has hurt Fromber when it comes to his
(45:24):
national appeal. I don't know if one start or one
act would cost him a contract of any length in
terms of dollars or cents. But it is interesting there
is very little benefit of the doubt coming from the
farm Bervaldez side of things.
Speaker 12 (45:39):
Yeah, and you know, I think for good reason. I mean,
you know, watching it, it didn't look good, especially the
way you know Frombert just took the ball and turned around,
and it didn't seem to show you know much reborse
or put his hand up and say my bad.
Speaker 1 (45:55):
You know, I'm not gonna sit here and say it
was intentional.
Speaker 12 (45:58):
Salzar didn't seem to think it was intentional, and the
spot has seemed to think that. You know, Salazar's explanation
of it was pretty plausible, but you definitely sense that
that he was frustrated. I mean, you maybe he threw
the pitch he wanted to pitch that Salazar didn't call,
and you know, Salsar clearly wasn't expecting it couldn't catch it,
and maybe he didn't expect to hit him.
Speaker 1 (46:19):
But whatever the case, you're right, it didn't look good.
And you know, from Burgh a couple of.
Speaker 12 (46:23):
Times this year is you know, questioned, you know, the
positioning of the defenders. The one game that ball hit
the right field that was extra bases. He wondered what
Tremuel was playing where he was playing, And you know,
there's been a couple of other things here, and there
were some of the things he says that you know about,
you know, some of the other plays. Things he can't control,
things like that. So yeah, it's gonna be interesting to
(46:46):
see if he can get it together over here for
his last you know, three or four starts, because like
it or not, he's your number two star on the
playoffs and they need him to pitch like he did
in the playoffs in twenty twenty two for them to
have a shot behind Hunter Brown.
Speaker 1 (46:59):
So uh, with Fromber, you take the good and the bad.
Speaker 12 (47:02):
I mean, he was really good for three months and
they what thirteen starts in a row they won, and
now they they're struggling every time he's on the mound.
So he's got to get it turned around between the ears,
get it turned around on the mount and quick.
Speaker 1 (47:15):
And there's been a lot of talk about, I don't
possible disciplinary action for him or whatever, and we know
that Joe Spotta took him into the manager and talked
to him. I mean, is there is there anything I mean,
is it just one of those situations where he's gonna
do what he's gonna do and you just gotta roll
with it. I mean, clubhouse wise, or with the manager
or with anybody.
Speaker 12 (47:33):
Yeah, I mean Joe said, you know, they put it
behind him and so over. I mean, there's nothing really
they can do. I mean Joe, you know, talked to
both guys in the clubhouse together after the game. I
mean the reporters that were in the clubhouse when we
got in there. Uh Salazar with his locker, with his
clothes on, uh, with his uniform on alert.
Speaker 4 (47:49):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (47:50):
Fromer was standing uh standing up and talking to him
in Spanish.
Speaker 2 (47:53):
It was a.
Speaker 12 (47:55):
You know, a pretty uh emphatic conversation. And then Omar Lopez,
the bench coach, came in and it seemed to take
them into the manager's office where they continue there. And
Joe a spot has said, the conversation continued there and
and that you know, Joe said what he had to say,
probably to Fromber and we don't know what that is,
and you know, that's probably the end of it. So
Robert's going to get the ball here in a few days,
and if he goes out there and pitches, well.
Speaker 1 (48:17):
Salt water under the bridge, and I think everyone moves
forward tags great stuff. Is always looking forward to reading
your work this weekend.
Speaker 3 (48:24):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (48:24):
What parts of the travel trip are you going on
next week?
Speaker 12 (48:28):
Yeah, I am will be in Arlington, of course, which
is a pretty big series. I am skipping Toronto, Uh
because a lot of reasons. The number one are on
a passport right now, and then I'll h I'll be
in Atlanta, so then i'll be I'll.
Speaker 1 (48:41):
Be with with the with the boys the rest of
the way. So I got some terrible news for you.
I got my passport online renewed in like two weeks.
Speaker 12 (48:51):
Well, I started doing that, then I realized it was
like double the price, and I canceled it. Then I
went to the post office like three weeks ago, and
it's supposed to be here in the mail on Monday.
Speaker 2 (49:00):
So I'll be good.
Speaker 1 (49:01):
I'll be good for the playoffs if they go to Toronto.
Don't worry. You don't need him because it's gonna be
maybe Astros Blue Jays in the second round Division series.
You never know. Hey, thank you for the visit. As always,
we look forward to hearing you tomorrow. I on the
on Deck show before the Astros game against the Rangers
in Arlington. Thanks for the time as always. All right,
thanks guys. Its Brian McTaggart. Not on a boat, just
walking around. You know, you know what he's doing. He's
(49:23):
sitting in the dock of the bay. Was getting some
perspective watching the tides roll away. But Jonathan, is he
wasting time? I'd say no, No, I think he's reflecting. Yeah,
well that's very important time. You've reflected last weekend in
the middle of a lot of reflecting, it was great
and I want to go back. I need to reflect
(49:43):
at a five star hotel eleven sixteen next to this
guy calling himself mister Texas. Every five minutes, John and
passaget down in a boat. I like Pasadena too. You
can have Baytown, but I like John in Pasadena. Seven
to one, three, two one Your favorite thing? What are
your three favorite things about Pasadena? Uh, there is a
Rex's Roadhouse there that has great roles. Okay, so they
(50:07):
have a chain restaurant from Indiana there. Yes, the is
your number one thing about it. The toll road is
easy to navigate around. It's a toll road now, Yeah,
I think it's the same Houston over there. Oh yeah,
I guess, and it's and there's some nice bridges hitting
the two twenty five nice bridges. Yeah, wow, lovely town.
(50:27):
Mister Texas goes to Pasadena. You've never been in Pasadena forever?
What are you talking about? There was a last time
we've been in passive good down, Dina. I don't know
when's the last time you went to Pasadena at least, yeah,
maybe ten months seven one no seven, one three. I
talked you about Rex's road rouse love of twenty one
Sports Talk seven on we got I just don't get
it coming up at the bottom of the hour, and
(50:51):
we've got the news at noon coming up. Or we're
gonna play some more great astro highlights with the greatest
New York song ever, right, greatest city song. We've already
discussed this before, if not, and then we're going to
have joining us today at twelve twenty a reporter from
Los Angeles. His name is Kurt Sandoval. He's been working
(51:12):
at Channel seven in LA for twenty five years. He
hosted a Sean McVay show. Wonderful. Yeah, I assume with
Sean McVay, well, I would think so. I mean, he's
a legit member of the media, which they probably have
more legit media in LA than we have in Houston.
So looking forward to getting an LA perspective. By the way,
the college games this weekend absolutely suck. Some dog games
(51:37):
there are there are probably and I'm not you got
a big rivalry game here in Houston. Please, I guarantee
Houston beats Rice garon tea. I think I thought it
was only like twelve and a half last night. Looked
I didn't stutter. All right, you go, buddy, that lad,
that bad boy. I mean, he should be fine. San
(52:01):
Jose State Texas thirteen and a half. What's a line
total of thirty nine and a half?
Speaker 4 (52:05):
You know why?
Speaker 1 (52:06):
You know Rice rushed the ball fifty five times against
ou La LA. Really Yeah, they're back to the triple options.
So I guess the game will be over in by
two hours and six minutes. That's good for you. I'm
okay with that. Let's see Texas thirty six and a
half over San Jose State. Like, here's a Seriously, I
want to run to the top twenty five in college
football this weekend. Here we go FIU versus Penn State. Huge.
(52:28):
Penn State is a forty two and a half point
favorite in that game. God East Texas A and M
against Florida State, there's not even a line. There's no
a line on that game. There's not a line for
Ohio State, Grambling, Kenesaw State and Indiana. Indiana is a
thirty six and a half point favorite. Wow, look at
this one. I don't think I've ever seen this one
(52:50):
ever bigger in my entire life. Texas Tech is a
forty eight and a half point favorite at home against
Kent State.
Speaker 2 (53:01):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (53:03):
I think Can't State won last week? I think they
had snapped like a twenty one or a twenty two
golden losing streak. Yeah, they beat Mary mack roll. Seriously,
have you ever seen a forty eight and a half
point spread. I want to say there was a huge
one when Oklahoma State played Savannah State. That's popping into
(53:23):
my head for sure. That's also that was also an
FBS two FCS. The Aggies are thirty one and a
half point favorites against Utah State. I mean, Jesus Oregon
twenty eight and a half point favorite over Oklahoma State.
Clemson thirty three and a half point favorite over Troy. Yeah,
(53:44):
they beat Savannah This is twenty twelve, they beat Savannah
State eighty four to zhering, covering the sixty seven and
a half points.
Speaker 2 (53:51):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (53:52):
LSU is a thirty seven and a half point favorite
over Louisiana Tech. These are embarrassingly bad. Alabama thirty six
and a half point favorite over you on Monroe. You
know what, Let me just tell you. Let me give
you a little advice. For mister Texas here, spend time
with your family on Saturdays. Who is mister Texas is
not here? It can't be you. It's me, mister Texas says,
(54:12):
spend time with your family on Saturday. Because NFL Sunday
is all about in the NFL. Let's talk to unless
you want to get a little taste in some of
these spreads. Oklahoma, Michigan's good. That's the only decent one, frankly,
John and pass it. Get down Diana. Good morning, Hey,
good morning, guys.
Speaker 8 (54:28):
Hey, let me tell you about to get down man.
First of all, Gillies, urban.
Speaker 13 (54:32):
Cowboy, all right, petrochemical industry and a contribution to our economy.
Speaker 8 (54:37):
And if you want Mexican food, there's probably more Mexican.
Speaker 13 (54:39):
Restaurants per square mile in Pasadena than anywhere else, So
come on down and get you a little bit of that.
Speaker 1 (54:45):
And how are the Pasadena ladies? Give us a firm
assessment on that.
Speaker 8 (54:49):
Hey, passing ladies ain't bad. I mean, if you want
the high class ones, you might have to venture into
Deer Park. Passing ain't bad.
Speaker 1 (54:56):
All right, that feels fair.
Speaker 13 (55:00):
But look, man, so Sean, you're you're a team guy, right,
I've been a team guy all my life and.
Speaker 8 (55:06):
Team sports and stuff.
Speaker 1 (55:07):
This Froger deal man, let.
Speaker 2 (55:09):
Me tell you something.
Speaker 8 (55:10):
You you go back the pitch the guy hit out, right,
if you.
Speaker 13 (55:13):
Remember Sancha Sanchez is telling something's going on between Fromber
and Sanchez because telling.
Speaker 14 (55:20):
Sales he's he's telling him, he's telling them to go
back back on the mound, back on the mountain.
Speaker 8 (55:26):
I don't know what was going on there. That was
before the pitch that the guy hit out. So something
was going on there Frombert clearly. Look you know how
Frombert is a head case.
Speaker 14 (55:36):
Right, he starts getting things start going bad for him,
he makes it even worse on himself.
Speaker 8 (55:42):
So when he gives up that.
Speaker 13 (55:43):
Home run, and I don't know if maybe uh they
called the wrong pitch or what was going on, but
he laid.
Speaker 8 (55:49):
That baby right down the middle and he got taken out.
Speaker 13 (55:51):
So but the next the very next pitch when when
he when he crosses him up, that was on purpose. Man,
I'm sorry, that was on purpose. The minute he through
the pitch, crossed him up, turned around and walked to
the back of the mound without saying my bad or whatever.
Speaker 8 (56:06):
Man, that's one hundred percent. That's on farmer. Man, that's
on Promer, and that's a problem.
Speaker 2 (56:11):
Yep, that's a.
Speaker 1 (56:11):
Problem to me, I John, I can't.
Speaker 8 (56:14):
Yeah, I understand saying, you know, worth firing or getting
rid of him going into the playoffs or whatever. But
when it comes, when it comes contract time or whatever,
that's a problem to me.
Speaker 1 (56:23):
Well, don't worry about it, John, because he can't getting
the contract here. He will get his qualifying offer and
he will take that offer and he will say shut
Joebam mass up Astros. Question is going to be how
much of this season that this last two months hurt him?
And again it's it's there's no defect definition of all
that cost him five or it cost him a year
across him ten. There's no it's not a good look.
(56:44):
It's not when every single baseball creator on the planet
is talking about how you intentionally hit your catcher that hurts,
and and let's he cares about pr or they do
or his team does. That's the only reason they made
that Twitter account. He's about putting a bunch of positive
daily affirmations. Thanks, Thanks, They're trying to build the brand.
They're trying to make him look good. They're trying to
(57:05):
build awareness about him and who he is. And this
is about as bad as a turn as it could
have taken for whoever is behind those efforts. They haven't
even tweeting like a month. I don't think, right, Yeah,
because you don't want he's been giving up four or
five runs almost every time he's been getting out there.
You're telling me the only time I ever tweet is
when I do a good show. Well, I thought was
(57:25):
the case. I'll never be tweeting. Ever, it's different, Matt.
Speaker 2 (57:29):
You are.
Speaker 1 (57:30):
I'm sorry. I don't mean to just say it from
bers more important than no, not the big picture. He
just throws a baseball. I'm a communicator. Okay, he's so bigger,
he's more famous, makes more money. This makes more money.
I'm more attractive, I got better hair, I don't think so.
Speaker 2 (57:52):
His hair.
Speaker 1 (57:52):
You have better hair than him. Yeah, you have that
whatever he's got, like making bald references on this show
because it's low hanging fruit, but you have no hair.
Kenny on Seminati, Hello, Kenny.
Speaker 2 (58:03):
Hey, how's it going good?
Speaker 15 (58:07):
I have my question to all the people out there
that are down on the ass right now? Are you
not paying attention to the fact that most of the
season we've been fielding trimple A and Rookers and we're
still in park place?
Speaker 2 (58:27):
So what what?
Speaker 8 (58:29):
What's the complainant?
Speaker 1 (58:32):
We found ourselves answering that question. Many times. People are
complaining about the lineup every day, complaining about pinch hit decisions,
complaining about the hitting coaches, complaining it's it's a lot. Yeah,
there's a lot to complain about for these people, lots
of people. By the way, texta Tech was a fifty
two point spread versus Arkansas Pine Bluff and beat the
(58:54):
spread good for them, and the game was short and
eight minute quarters because of that weather. Very America. Yeah,
oh lordy, all right, and they still covered, They still covered. Ross.
I got a question for you, what don't.
Speaker 2 (59:06):
You get a lot?
Speaker 1 (59:10):
You ready to tell us? Jonathan you've been going a
couple of days. We don't even know where you've been.
Have you been in hiding a year? What's going on
with you? I think something I said last week I
about to say again this week. Well, you know, you know,
when you turn twenty three, you guys all been my age,
it's time to point, take a deep breath, take a
little roundings, and figure out what you're gonna move forward. Yeah, yeah,
I have a little motivational productive time. That's good time
marches forward, time away from us. Huh clingsed you? Yeah,
(59:33):
you know what I'm saying. You know, I'll be very clean.
Look at the skin. It's good, it's gone, I know. Yeah, yeah,
you're you've got great, great skin. Actually, no, it looks great.
You look you look a fresh all right. What don't
you get if there's something in your life, whether it
be sportulated or your life. We have three different generations
of this show. Ross is significantly closer to my age
than he is to uh Jonathan's put that time here
(59:54):
or there? Seven one three two one two. No, I'm
fifty three by I look thirty seven seven one three
two one two five seven ninety seven years Sorry SMD
eleven thirty on Sports Talk seven, Natty, do you have
(01:00:17):
something in.
Speaker 16 (01:00:17):
Your life that you just don't get No need to worry,
no need to We will just do the topics to
see if we comprehend the things that make can use
our brands.
Speaker 1 (01:00:29):
It's time to say I just don't get it. Eleven
thirty five on Sports Talk seven. Ninety Uh. Mine is
very a difficult one not to like topic wise. But
(01:00:51):
you know, the NFL Red Zone is God's gift at
sports television, right. I mean, you have the greatest all
time things that come to sports television. That mean, it's
instant replay, that's HD, that's College Game Day, and the
red zones right up there among the greatest sports things ever. Well,
this year they're adding commercials to it. Mm hmm, and
(01:01:15):
people are losing their minds. Yes they are. And while
I don't want commercials, and part of the charm of
red Zone was not having commercials, the NFL is always
trying to squeeze one more dollars out of potential. NFL
advertise just got to go up and up and up
and up and up. And when the everything's go up,
they gotta go up more, and they gotta go up
some more, and they got to keep going some more.
We gotta go. Let's got's go keep happy. I will
(01:01:36):
just say the angst is I just don't get it
because let me take you something. Y'all pay for a
lot of paid networks like Hulus. I have Hulu account
that's got commercials on it. My Apple's got commercials on it.
I'm not thrilled about it. And you can also say
I'm not going to buy it, but we know that's
not the truth. If you are a red zone aholic
(01:01:57):
and they put a couple of commercials in in the
you know, look, it's how they placed them. If there
is a first in goal for the Bengals at the
Cleveland nine yard line this week, they're not putting a
thirty second Reray Burger and you know, having your Way commercial,
they're gonna they're gonna wait to do it. That it
makes sense. So I think it's frankly much to do
(01:02:18):
about nothing. And I just don't get the intense anger
over the commercials. You don't get it at all. I'm
not thrown about it. I'm not surprised by I don't
get that people are surprised about it. I'd be with
you on that, but I get what people are upset.
It's seth Literally, Scott Hansen when he opens up the
program says, get ready for seven hours of commercial free football,
(01:02:40):
past tense. That's what he said every single week, and
that's what it was. Yeah, things change. We have advertising
creeping into every little part of everything we do. And
it was it was a sanctuary. It was a safe place.
And now, of course they did have sponsored segments X
Carry the Day or whatever, Amazon Package Delivery whatever. I'm
(01:03:05):
just saying, and hopefully I'm correct when I say this.
I think these spots will be minimal and you people
will not be nearly as angry. I mean again, if
they do it in a very crucial moment and say, hey,
we want to show you what Jalen Hurts just did
after we play this commercial for this, then I can
see the anger. There's a lot of downtime, especially in
the three o'clock window when there's only two or three
(01:03:26):
games being played. But no, but I totally get white
people are upset that that something that had no advertisements
and there was this great football sanctuary is now being
well we'll see to what level, but gonna have advertisements
on it. I'm not again, I want to make sure
and clear. I'm not thrilled about it, but I work
in an industry where advertising mikes will go around and
(01:03:47):
I get it. I get it.
Speaker 2 (01:03:48):
M h.
Speaker 1 (01:03:50):
Yeah, make sure you use code nine eighty seven and
you sign up for DraftKings pick six.
Speaker 3 (01:03:57):
Ross.
Speaker 1 (01:03:57):
What don't you get? I don't want to do that.
I'm not a huge fan of bringing up things pundits
say on this show and discussing, but I don't get
Ryan Clark is going viral right now for talking NFL
with Steven A. Smith on whatever program. This is talking
(01:04:18):
head program. This is talking about Arch Manning as a
generational quarterback? Is a generational prospect? Is he a generational
quarterback that remains to be seen? Obviously, and well didn't
get off to a good start at the shoe But anyways,
he says, I don't think Tom Brady, I don't think
Drew Brees, I don't think Peyton Manning are generational talents.
(01:04:41):
I don't get that you even bringing this up. Yeah,
you're right, but I was also the one that said
yesterday that he believes in the day that Arch Manning
is not gonna be a great quarterback. That's fun. That's
his opinion. That's okay. And you know what, that actually
makes more sense of what he said today because again
we already know what those guys have done. His play. Yeah,
Drew Brees was what a second round pick?
Speaker 4 (01:05:03):
Uh?
Speaker 15 (01:05:03):
Pay?
Speaker 1 (01:05:03):
I mean Tom Brady was one six round pick. Yes,
but Peyton Manning six foot five, dad played in the
league number one. When Polish as they come number one,
number one, it lived up to it. That's generational when
you make when you live up to being one dash
one your generational How is he not a generational talent? Look?
(01:05:26):
Ryan Clark just you know what, you know you're mad
at me for putting Mike's emails out there when you pick,
when you put Ryan Clark's takes out, that makes me made.
I just don't get how that could come out of
somebody's mouth and they get paid money to talk about football.
Are you stunned by that by the folks at ESPN?
I actually am I mean that that they they h
Kendrick Uh Kendrick Perkins is Lamar Kenna Lamar probably gives
(01:05:52):
you better NBA takes Ken. There's actually no doubt on that.
I'm still trying to get Drake on the right radio
broadcast for a Rockets raptors are, Yeah, how's that going,
I'd say, mister Drake. Apparently, mister Drake, apparently you have
beef with mister Lamar, mister Aubrey Graham. All right, wishing
him the best. Jonlyn. We've missed you the last couple
(01:06:13):
of days. We have one simple question for you. What
don't you get I just don't get this, and I
think y'all can explain it to me. With all this
Kawhi Leonard and fraudulent company, I have no idea, Like
I totally get it. It's called circumventing a system. Is
it like how they do it baseball with Otani and
take the like you know, so the money doesn't go
(01:06:33):
to the salar cap or what's going on with you know,
because there's no salary cap in baseball. They deferred the
money that you can defer money. This is opening up
a w company allegedly and paying this guy twenty eight
million dollars paying him side money, side money. But yeah,
well yeah, there's a competitive balanced text threshold which is
kind of like a soft houas salary cap, which does
save the Dodgers' money. There but m hm, and so
(01:07:00):
Mark Cuban is so apparently the company, this aspiration company
has lost some huge fraud case and the people were scammers.
Steve Bamer's claiming ignorance and Mark Cuban's backing them up. Yes,
And Mark Cuban went at Pablo Tory on Twitter and said,
you don't know what you're talking about. Pablo's like, can
you come on? I want to talk to you, and
on the podcast like they're gonna talk, They're gonna talk.
(01:07:22):
It's great. I think Pablotory smart. I think Mark Cuban
is smart. I'd like to see what they have to say.
Did you see the next thing that Pablo's going after?
I saw it with Are you talking about the New
York correct? Jalen Brunson signed a new contract a couple
of years back, maybe it was just a year ago
(01:07:43):
that paid him over one hundred million dollars less than
he would he could have made if he'd hit free
agency or something like that. Right, I don't know, but
I mean he was set to make and uh, Everyone's like,
what's going on here? And it sounds like that maybe
(01:08:03):
there's a similar situation, could be maybe he's getting unlimited
sphere tickets. That's a lot bell Way. Are you proud
of me for saying I really am proud of you.
Actually I am pronounced with it. Thank you. Let's talk
to our buddy. I have it on seven on it.
Don't you get eleven forty three?
Speaker 17 (01:08:22):
What I don't get is I gotta ask ROSSI, why
don't you acknowledge our tribal chief?
Speaker 2 (01:08:29):
Miss Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:08:31):
What makes Okay?
Speaker 2 (01:08:32):
I even.
Speaker 1 (01:08:34):
What makes mister Texas.
Speaker 2 (01:08:37):
Well? I mean he is the voice of the Rockets.
Speaker 1 (01:08:40):
Yeah, there's also a voice of the Spurs. There's a
voice of the Mavericks, there's a voice of the I
don't know the Astros.
Speaker 2 (01:08:47):
He goes everywhere in Texas and promote.
Speaker 1 (01:08:50):
Where Yeah, I mean he's never been to the Capitol Building.
He's never been. He's never been a single state park.
I'm not an outdoorsy type, but I go to the
I go to the big cities. I go I've been
to I've been to wake Up and been a riddle.
I've been in the Middle Corpus, Brownsville, McCallan, I've been
to them all. When did you go to Brownsville? I
don't remember a couple of years back thank you, thank you,
thank you Ivan, talk about this here we go. No,
(01:09:13):
I'll let him finish you hung up, I am thank
you for having my bag, Thanks for thanks being literally
the only person that has your back. Thank you for
being part of the lone star nation. Yeah, embarrassing seven
one three two one two five seven ninety. What don't
you get? I have a simple question for you? Why
(01:09:33):
you continue to push this ridiculous mister Texas a negative?
You don't like it? You us more Sweety or doctor Bert.
You're the worst. Oh doctor prefers a bad one. Ugh, seriously,
that's right right next time, right now? Say that again?
That us Sprite right next to you. Yes, Sprye zero. Thanks,
(01:09:54):
you don't like Sprite? Se Zero's fine? Well what do
you what? What's the what's what's the?
Speaker 2 (01:09:59):
Hey? Could you got?
Speaker 1 (01:10:01):
I said, yikes? Because you don't like doctor pepper and
and drinking apie right now, trying to claim miss to Texas.
Sprite his main here in Texas. Don't you prefer Pepsi
to coke? Do you own a cowboy hat? Don't you
prefer pepsy to coke? Matt I like coke? Mat I
like pepsi Matt which do you prefer to be honest?
Because that's not where he textan like. No, No, coke
(01:10:22):
is an Atlanta thing. It's not a Texas okay, but
who what is preferred in Texas? Coke is preferred in
every state in this country over pepsi. That's not true.
Oh stop, some some states up north, Oh, Montana probably
likes pepsi more.
Speaker 2 (01:10:35):
You know what it is?
Speaker 1 (01:10:36):
What mister Texas does for you is he likes everyone
and everything. I don't have to play favorite hate everyone.
What are you talking about? Mister Texas took it easy
on CFA fans last week. Mister mister Texas did not
pick up delicious free brisket and put it on his
plate because plate, because he enjoys ribs more. You put
(01:11:00):
et Lewis ribs on your plate, but you did not
put put put ribs on my plate. All right, Hey,
gotta tell you about the Shell Federal Credit Union. You
know they're all about Texas.
Speaker 14 (01:11:12):
All right.
Speaker 1 (01:11:13):
So I'm getting called off and not liking biscuits and gravy.
So here what I'm gonna do. First of all, I
like biscuits and I like gravy. I don't like them
on top because it's gooeying gross. Let me ask you this,
may I, when next time I got a hotel, get
a biscuit, put up sausage patty on it, and put
(01:11:33):
gravy on top of that. Will that be considered sausage
and gray biscuits and gravy. Don't just do it at
a hotel. I don't want a gravy at home. I
don't need to hotel to a good breakfast cafe and
get some biscuits and gravy. What am I getting at
the mayor field end? You're eating it. You're eating at
the mayor meal and saying you don't like it. That's
your problem, just like you're eating you're eating brisket at
(01:11:56):
the at the place on the side of the road
and saying it's not good. You go to the good places.
It's good, all right? Next time we go have breakfast,
which is never you know what we're going to like,
Charles next month, okayis gonna be some good breakfast and
krauk uh yeah, biscuits and gravy. There somewhere we'll go.
We'll stop going to the rock orail. You always want
to go to over there. That's because Danny's been losing
(01:12:18):
money there, went to Darryl's. Did go to Darryls get
fat and happy? Daryl's back in that order, fat and happy, yes,
but they don't have fries. By the way, you're only
chip sit there at That's true. I don't remember. Yeah,
they don't. They don't find anything from where I was
worried about Poe Boy.
Speaker 2 (01:12:38):
I got that.
Speaker 1 (01:12:38):
I got the meat and the shrimp in the surf
and turf.
Speaker 2 (01:12:43):
Gracious.
Speaker 1 (01:12:45):
Uh Chris on seven ninety Chris, what don't you get?
Speaker 2 (01:12:50):
Well?
Speaker 5 (01:12:50):
First of all, I will tell you that if you
do put sausage on the bray, yes considered, I never
have it without.
Speaker 9 (01:13:01):
Uh, So that's fine. But what I don't get is
why you had to tell me about that silly bommy
to hollish you eight shirt lesson. Now, I'm a proud
over of one, but I can't tell my wife how
much he.
Speaker 1 (01:13:13):
Cast Oh my god, do not tell her. She will
hate you. She will hate you because I hated my
son when I found out how much he spent on it.
He got it at that. Yeah. Now, dunt dunt dwna
know I can sing the song because they're really expensive
shirts done, No, thank you, Coger, Chris, Sorry, man, these
(01:13:35):
are one fitty I want to say it was more
than that. Now, it was timing Mouhammad and u H
logo on it, which obviously makes it additional value too.
I think that actually puts it down twenty six percent.
That's false, Greg on seven ninety Greg, what don't you get?
Speaker 2 (01:13:52):
Hey, guys?
Speaker 18 (01:13:52):
I was watching the A and M game on Saturday,
and Andre Ware was the color commentator, and so he
was talking about Darry Noka, the studio host, and how
he's an okay See fan, and they go back and
forth because andre and he said this because his NBA
team is the Dallas Mavericks. I just don't get how
(01:14:13):
Dickinson native U of HLM Texans color commentator Andre Ware
as his favorite.
Speaker 2 (01:14:20):
NBA team Dallas.
Speaker 1 (01:14:24):
Now I will see Dre and so please confirm with him. Yeah,
I will say. I can't believe that he's doing the
Colorado Houston game next Friday on ESPN. So I will
find him and I will find out the answer to
that issue, because that is ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (01:14:38):
It's greazy.
Speaker 18 (01:14:38):
And they talked about the Lucas because I was like,
I didn't hear that right, And then I was like,
that can't be Andre, And they talked about the Luca
trade and how he was good with it.
Speaker 1 (01:14:46):
And I was like, come on, man, because Andre Andre
is a couple of years older than I am. Okay, right,
So I know what the Mavericks were like back in
like nineteen eighty two eighty three. They sucked. It was
Brad Davis and Roy Tarpley and Jay Vincent and Marc
Guire and there were some teams that were all right,
(01:15:06):
but they also got into trouble drugs and whatnot, but
larger than the Mavericks sucked back then.
Speaker 18 (01:15:13):
Uy, with the team and the Rockets being good.
Speaker 1 (01:15:16):
In the eighties, it makes zeros. All right. I swear
to God, you gotta call me like, give me, give
me two weeks because we play them Colorado. He's doing
the game. That's that's that's embarrassing. That's just absolutely embarrassing.
He also wanted to go to the University of Texas,
but he settled for you of h No, he didn't.
He said university he's rude and obnoxious. They told him
(01:15:39):
to play defense. Well, that's that'd be Freddy Aker's problem, right,
was it probably around there?
Speaker 2 (01:15:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:15:45):
All right? Last one Roger on seven ninety Roger, what
don't you get?
Speaker 7 (01:15:52):
Uh, I don't get bombers eighty gents. I guess he's
protecting him, But I still don't get what he said
about Uh yeah, that was.
Speaker 1 (01:16:01):
Damage control, Yeah, Roger, I totally I didn't see it.
He basically said, how dare anyone think that Frobert would
throw a teammate? Roger, You're absolutely right that one hundred
percent team. That was damage control.
Speaker 3 (01:16:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:16:15):
So yeah, that that that was it. And uh yeah,
there's a place, there's a place to go go with Charles.
I can't really say anything because it's not you don't
make money with that place? Is it's going risk its
and rams? And it's not very far from the casino.
But then live now you know when local local first
responders are there, you know it's a good place.
Speaker 1 (01:16:37):
What is it called?
Speaker 19 (01:16:37):
What is it?
Speaker 1 (01:16:38):
What is the rhyme called risk its and ram riskins ram?
Huh look it up? M Okay, where is this, Charles?
It's on a market, we can say it, right, yeah,
say it on a market. Well, they can't spend money here.
Speaker 2 (01:16:54):
What is it?
Speaker 7 (01:16:55):
Okay?
Speaker 1 (01:16:55):
Biscuits and jam, biscuits and jam that sounds good. Let's
go get some biscuits and jam. But it's more than that.
Speaker 7 (01:17:01):
And it's a local, family run breakfast eatery. And you
know what, the it's awesome.
Speaker 1 (01:17:09):
Thanks for the heads up on that, Roger, and I'm
gonna get. I'm gonna git gravy with bacon. Did look good?
And I'm gonna get I'm gonna get a bacon, egg
and cheese biscuit for Ross. And he's gonna put some
jelly on it too, because that makes it a perfect
It's like a psychopath. What are the people to the deli?
Ask you next door? You want jelly with your biscuit?
(01:17:29):
And what did I tell them? Shut your mom? Man,
that's up, man, that's exact. That's exactly what you do.
That's why you're rude. And they hate you in there
and they spit on your food. They love me. They
smile at me, wave right, and all the faces brightened
up when I get in there. Yeah, because that's what
I do. I bring cheer to pep because then you're rude.
They messed your food up. So what they did? All right? Uh?
New York, New York, you suffered a loss yesterday. The
(01:17:50):
highlights of that next plus the News at Noon and
a Texans injury port update that I got to ask
better at a Ross if he's concerned about We'll get
to that next eleven fifty eight on Sports Talk seven nineties,
He's the Matt Thomas Show with Ross. This little town,
(01:18:22):
Blue Houston, A little town is a sports RB. We're
a big metropolis. We smacked that Yankee ass around for
three hours, well not it was like four innings, and
then I got dicey are we are? We worried about
Brian and bray you in the ninth inning? He needs
a clean inning here. That was far from the cleaning yesterday.
Speaker 4 (01:18:45):
Three.
Speaker 1 (01:18:45):
It was hard to expect him to have an era
of like one thirty all season long. I was expecting it. Okay,
well you shouldn't have been. You're probably right. All right,
there you go, Thank you, blue Eyes. We appreciate that
the chairman of the board giving us the innection to
the second third hour of The Matt Thomas Show with Ross.
Twelve six is our time. It's time for us to
give you what you've been thirsting for all day long,
(01:19:07):
the News at noon, and we do that with the
Scott van peld Of Houston Sports. It's Rossfildrew. Hey, that
how are you? I'm Gonnama. Look at Lauren for a
minute while you run through the news. All rights. I
think I might have another. I just don't get it,
even though we're late. That's okay, I can do it anyways.
But let's talk about the act.
Speaker 2 (01:19:27):
Get laur.
Speaker 1 (01:19:30):
Will you relax? Good God, eight to seven Astros to
beat the Yankees. Yes, Brian Obre, you gave up a
three run home run, but the headline story the hitting
coach is doing a fantastic job with your Don Alvarez.
Four balls hit one hundred and three miles an hour
or more.
Speaker 2 (01:19:50):
We had.
Speaker 1 (01:19:50):
Brian McTaggart on last hour said in the stat cast
era that starts in twenty fifteen, only other hitter to
ever do that is show halotonic. We're talking about one
of the best and most dangerous hitters on the planet.
Back in the lineup, getting four hits for you yesterday,
also driving in a run. He was great. The offense
(01:20:10):
came up enough in teams and for the team in
runners in scoring position three for eight. There also had
a walk or two. There was a balk mixed in
there somewhere as well, they get to win very nice
bounce back, and most importantly, the Mariners continue to lose.
Astros four games up on the Seattle Mariners in the
(01:20:33):
American League West mat if they just play five hundred ball,
the Mariners have to go sixteen and six the rest
of the way to clinch the division. How we feeling?
Speaker 2 (01:20:44):
You know what?
Speaker 1 (01:20:45):
Am I gonna be right about them one of the
West by five games? You might at this point now
the easiest way for that to happen is that the
Astros can win the series against the ms here. Yes weeks, yes,
I'd be that looms large. Yep, I would say even
at the very least, you just don't get swept. Well,
you still have six with the Rangers. You can dispose
(01:21:05):
of the Rangers here in the next week or so.
Six with the Rangers, three with the Mariners left also
three with the Toronto Blue Jays. Those are the most
difficult series. And then the A's, A's and Angels three apiece.
With those guys. Right now you have the sixteenth most
difficult schedule remaining. Seattle has the twenty eighth because they
still have the Rockies, Braves, Angels and Cardinals left on
(01:21:28):
their schedule all right. Elsewhere in the news at noon,
Matt we talked about the big Pablo story Tory story
that broke yesterday. He is alleging via his reporting that
the Clippers circumvented the salary cap by giving him twenty
eight million dollars in an endorsement deal from basically a
(01:21:50):
dummy company or a no show job is what they
were calling it. But Mark Cuban, former owner owner of
the Day Alice Mavericks, called Pablo torris reporting out on
Twitter yesterday saying, I'm on team ballmer as much as
I wish the he circumvented the salary cap, Steve, Isn't
(01:22:11):
that dumb? Why would he let the company go bankrupt
knowing all credits would be visible to the world, basically
saying that scammed by the company called Aspiration who had
a three hundred million dollar sponsorship deal with the Clippers
and then were convicted or pleaded guilty to some crimes
well relating to fraud and some other issues. I think
(01:22:34):
it was like two undred and sixty million dollars worth
of fraud or something like that. So Mark Cuban, pushing
back on Pablo Tory's reporting, Pablo Tory standing by his
reporting inviting Mark Cuban on his podcast, and it looks
like Mark Cuban has accepted. And if Mark Cuban would
have said no, Pablo's like, I'm coming after you next, yetch.
I mean, if you're going to call out see, I'm
(01:22:55):
imagine Mark Cuban's ready to back up what he's saying
if he's going public with it, which he said he
do you watch Shark Tank by the way, No, I'm out.
I feel like if I got into a Shark Tank
rabbit hole, I'd be there for a long time.
Speaker 2 (01:23:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:23:09):
I just don't want it to spend my time watching it.
That's fine. Yeah, everybody's got choices. I just don't want
to feel like I'm gonna be on my deathbed saying
I wish I watched more Shark Tank. I get in
a Judge Judy rabbit hole in it. No, I'm saying
I wish I watched more Judge Judy. That's entertainment right there.
Texans Injury Port, what do you got?
Speaker 2 (01:23:28):
Uh? You tell me?
Speaker 1 (01:23:29):
Brax and Burios Christian Hamps Christian Kirk both did not
participate yesterday because the hamstrings are on the practice field
right now. Cam Robinson, a backup left tackle, the starting
left tackle out due to illness. Blake Fisher limited participant
with a bad ankle. They're on the practice field right now.
We'll get you an update from Texans WEX as soon
as he sends a tweet out to us. Okay, we're
(01:23:52):
going to La by the way in ten minutes. We're
fine if you can figure out there. No but by
Burbank John Wayne, Oh, Orange Counting, Okay, yeah, I can.
I can airport Cody to the desk. Well, LGB, LGB
Long Beach, Baby, let's go. What's the G in Long
Beach Airport? L O n G long Oh, but I
(01:24:15):
thought it was the LBC. That's what Snoop told me.
Speaker 2 (01:24:17):
It was.
Speaker 1 (01:24:18):
No, no, Yeah, it's hard being Snoop deal double G
because there's so much drama in the LBC name the
airport code. It's E A D. That's that's actually at
your house in Kingwood. That's a jazz just an international Okay,
our SMD is what it was. I think, all right,
and anything else from you, no, what you're doing. What
you're just said, No, don't get it. You just had
(01:24:38):
something that popped up go ahead and say it quickly everybody,
and I honestly think I kind of maybe get it.
I'll give you my theory in a second. There's a
lot of people like, why are you watching red zone?
Red Zone's are not real football. It doesn't give you
the context of the whole game. Same it's these high
and mighty NFL pundits. First of all, you put red
(01:25:00):
zone on TV number two. You don't just watch all
red zone. Second of all, saying that red zone gives
you no actual context of the game that's going on
is just patently false. They often update you with drives
and scores, and you get a lot of what's going on.
It's not all just so. It's not a seven hour
highlight package. There are drives, there are people. Just because
(01:25:22):
it's called red zone doesn't mean they only show red
zone plays. There are times where people are starting drives,
or it's in the they're at midfield or whatever because
nothing else is going on, or other games are on.
In commercial you do get full context of games. I
don't get why everybody's having this backlash. You're trying to
act like red zone isn't one of the most amazing
inventions in the history of time. I absolutely love it,
(01:25:43):
and I'm not thrilled about commercials being a part of it,
but I get it. My theory is it's people who
pay for Sunday ticket and they get mad that you
can get so much. You can get closed. You don't
get Sunday ticket with red zone, but you get as
close as you can for a fraction of the price. Yea,
all right, that's the news. And noon. By the way,
we go to Los Angeles. Check on the Rams. Next
here on the program seven one three two one two
(01:26:04):
five seven ninety seven one three two, one two, five,
seven and eight. Also quickly on the Astro if you
did not catch it, Spencer Arraghetty, elbow inflammation is that
we're calling it? Is that what the team is calling it?
Elbow inflammation? Fantastic? And the Seattle Mariners lost the Rais
yesterday nine to four, which means the Astros lead over
Seattle is now four games. Nothing big good news on
(01:26:24):
the local nine front. Nothing well, I mean, the Araghetty
things kind of sucks. Seven one three two one two
five seveny Kurt ten of all ABC seven. Next on
the Rams side of things here on seven ninety Thomas
showed Ross, we really appreciate our next guest joining in.
We'd like to check in on the enemy. Oh man, enemy,
I mean, how can you hate? You can't hate the
(01:26:45):
Rams right in nice stadium southern California. Uniforms look good.
They're in Los Angeles compared to being in Saint Louis
And I guess can you can?
Speaker 2 (01:26:55):
You?
Speaker 1 (01:26:55):
Can you name me a Ram you hate?
Speaker 3 (01:26:57):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (01:26:58):
Roman Gabriel? You really hate Rome Gaby?
Speaker 2 (01:27:01):
What do to you?
Speaker 1 (01:27:03):
I don't know, I don't I was not prepared for
Roman Gabriel hate.
Speaker 2 (01:27:10):
You were.
Speaker 1 (01:27:14):
All right, I'm sure. I'm sure our next guest is like,
what the hell have I just signed myself up? Sorry?
Apologies in advance. Kurt sent of all ABC seven on
the bad top of the show, Ross, Kurt, how are you?
Thanks for joining us?
Speaker 2 (01:27:26):
Roman Gabriel?
Speaker 1 (01:27:27):
Come on, man, okay, since you since you've been in
l all your life, who is your least favorite Ram?
And we won't tell anybody. I swear to God, it'll
be just between us.
Speaker 4 (01:27:39):
I don't have a least favorite Ram, you know I
have a least favorite Dodger. We could talk Dodgers Oustros.
That would bring out the hate, right.
Speaker 1 (01:27:46):
Oh, well, you know what we'll call you in October?
Don't you don't you think what we won't be calling
you for that?
Speaker 2 (01:27:53):
I would love it.
Speaker 1 (01:27:54):
Kurt Is with ABC seven Eye Witness News. I watched
that channel all the time and I'm out there with
the Akers and the Clippers. Bollway, real quick, before we
get to the Rams. How is the split among fan
base Chargers to Rams in Los Angeles? With both teams
being there though within the last decade, I.
Speaker 4 (01:28:12):
Would say eight to one Rams. It really is a
lot of it stems from the Roman Gabriel days. You
know the fact that the Rams were here before. For one,
right and two, Southern California has a love hate relationship
with San Diego. They consider them a little brother, and
you know the Chargers are are people still think it's
(01:28:34):
San Diego's team, so San Diego doesn't ever since they moved.
You know, Dean Spamos is a horrible, you know, four
letter word, the owner of the Chargers. But I'll tell you,
with Harbaugh and Justin Herbert, that team's going to be
pretty darn good this year. So that's that's the best
marketing tool, as you guys will know.
Speaker 1 (01:28:53):
So you as a longtime sports reporter there. You have
to cover a variety of professional teams. You've got Clippers likes,
You've got Ram. I mean, you as a station have
to decide what people care about, right, I mean, you're
you're you're not really, frankly giving it all equal treatment,
are you?
Speaker 2 (01:29:09):
No? Not at all?
Speaker 4 (01:29:10):
And in fact, it's it's really a unique situation. I've
been here at KBC twenty six years. I spent four
years in San Diego. I'm from Denver. Actually worked for
the Broncos, and that's probably more similar to Houston or Dallas.
Speaker 2 (01:29:26):
You know, it's it's if the Cowboys or.
Speaker 4 (01:29:29):
The Broncos by a file cabinet, it's front page news
right out here. It's really a Laker town, really Dodger town.
Right now there as the world champions and the sky
is falling right now, and then it's Lakers, and then
you could say Rams are third, USC three A, and
(01:29:50):
then everybody else. You know, every every team has its
die Hard, but that's kind of the Big Three.
Speaker 1 (01:29:56):
You're not leading with Anaheim, Money Ducks. Highlights of what
you're trying to tell me that basically.
Speaker 4 (01:30:01):
But when they went to the when they went to
the You know Stanley Cup, everybody loved the duck with
that two thousand and five.
Speaker 1 (01:30:08):
So you're asking me, I have not If you said, Kurt,
if you said, I'll give you one thousand dollars for
every duck, I couldn't I give you Donald Daffie to
be a bu as far as we go, I couldn't
name you a duck. All right, let's get to the rams.
There has been one storyline, period into story for this
entire training camp, and that has been Matthew Stafford's back.
How is it right now in your in your best estimation?
Speaker 4 (01:30:30):
Well, my best estimation is it's it's doable. I mean,
he slings it at practice. He looks good. But when
you watch him stretching, he's the one guy who's not
going to get on the ground. So when he gets
hit to the ground, what's that going to entail? That's
the elephant in the room. Anybody with a bad back knows,
you know, he's it's tough. It can It's a very
(01:30:52):
iffy situation at best. That being said, Man, the dude's
not to be cliche. He is as tough as nails.
Speaker 2 (01:30:58):
He is.
Speaker 4 (01:30:59):
He's dealt with injuries, his whole life. He's been sacked,
you know, going back to the Detroit Days, over five
hundred times.
Speaker 2 (01:31:04):
In his career.
Speaker 4 (01:31:06):
But he's he's a coach on the field. He is
the most cerebral player I have ever met. I mean,
he's right there with Peyton Manning in terms of cerebral
knowledge of the game and quarterback on the field. But man,
that is such the elephant in the room. What will
it be when he gets hit and hit hard?
Speaker 1 (01:31:25):
What about Davante Adams? How has he looked and how
do you think he fits in as getting a little
bit older. We know how great he has been in
the past, but age thirty two can be a tricky
season for wide receivers, no question, I.
Speaker 4 (01:31:38):
Will say he has looked sensational and so you kind
of go back to, you know, the timing and the
connection with quarterback and wide receiver, and they were, you know,
it was like a passing league in the offseason. And
both those two guys are great leaders, incredibly cerebral, really
smart read defense as well. And Vante when they scrimmaged
(01:32:01):
the Cowboys, man, it was it was jaw dropping how
good he looked. You put him in a Sean McVay system.
I think he's you know, if you haven't had your
fantasy draft pick, you know draft yet, I would highly
go all in on Davonte Adams. I think he's going
to have a really big year. You match him with
Puka Nakua and this wide receiver corps and a good
(01:32:24):
offensive line if Stafford stays healthy. It's this is a
team that you know, won a Super Bowl a few
years ago, and that season was the last year that
they saw the Texans right back in October in Houston,
and this team offensively is better than that team on paper.
Speaker 2 (01:32:42):
Will they do it? We'll see.
Speaker 4 (01:32:44):
Obviously they lose a great leader in Cooper Cup. But
Davonte is my goodness, guys, I mean, former basketball player
in high school. He can still get up, he still
reads routes.
Speaker 2 (01:32:57):
He's she looks incredible. But you know they haven't hit
anybody yet, right, So it's you say that with an asterisk.
Speaker 1 (01:33:05):
Kurt Sandoval ABC seven in Los Angeles with us here
on Sports Talk seven ninety we can you tell us
about Nick Kyley? What was he thought of over there
in LA? What do we expect and do you think
there's any sort of advantage gained on either side with
the familiarity of Nick Keley and his offense and what
(01:33:26):
he wants to do, and with his familiarity with the Rams.
Speaker 2 (01:33:31):
Boy, that's that's a million dollar question. You know.
Speaker 4 (01:33:35):
Sean alluded to that yesterday, that this is the one
week right that there's no you kind of know what
guys are gonna do, but you kind of don't.
Speaker 2 (01:33:45):
And I think that's gonna be a big thing that's
going to play.
Speaker 4 (01:33:48):
Out along that exact same line, you know, out here,
a small pivot c J. Stroud from Rancho Cucamonga. Just personally,
I think the world of him as a human being
for what he did. You guys, I've never even talked
to him. I've seen him at Laker games, but you know,
(01:34:09):
the coordinators on both sides are saying, you know, we
need to play rules football. We need to play rules football.
That to me is the wild card in this game Sunday.
Speaker 2 (01:34:18):
You know, you talk about.
Speaker 4 (01:34:20):
Coordinators and teams knowing each other, they know the inside.
But Sean McVay is really, really, really good in opening games.
This is his ninth season. He's eight and six and
two in his eight games. These two losses. One was
the year after they won the Super Bowl, came out
flat against the Bills. The other loss was last year
(01:34:41):
in Detroit in just a fabulous game. So I think
it's a little bit.
Speaker 2 (01:34:46):
Of hide and go seek too, it would be.
Speaker 1 (01:34:48):
To answer your question, Kurt, the number one concern for
the Texans going in and it's going to be this
way the entire season is the offensive line. The Rams
have a very stout defensive three fourths assessment, and how
good are they going to be this week? How good
are they going to be this year? And are they
going to be good enough? Ultimately? I think the NFC
is wide open, I really do. Is it just about
(01:35:09):
keeping stafford a healthy? Is it about the defensive performance
to expectations? I think a lot of people are very
nervous around here whether this defensive front is going to
call CJ in the offensive lines of issues this week.
Speaker 2 (01:35:22):
Yeah, that's a great point.
Speaker 4 (01:35:24):
And man, I just love week one because hey, there's excitement,
b there's let's let's call.
Speaker 2 (01:35:30):
What it is. There's overreaction on both sides.
Speaker 4 (01:35:33):
So to answer your question, the Rams defensive line really
finished strong, really finished strong.
Speaker 2 (01:35:40):
Last year.
Speaker 4 (01:35:40):
Statistically they weren't that good top to bottom because they
started horrible.
Speaker 2 (01:35:46):
I mean, and.
Speaker 4 (01:35:48):
Chris Shula would would say as much, their defensive coordinator.
This team was one and four last year, they were
getting beat pretty bad. But boy did they flip the switch.
And again last year ridiculously young, starting two rookies in
Jared Verse and I'm just John a blank fifty five. Anyway,
(01:36:13):
my brain will wake up here in just a minute.
But defensive line wise, they're young, and they're strong.
Speaker 1 (01:36:22):
Braidon fisk yeahs though, go ahead, continue on.
Speaker 4 (01:36:29):
And Braidon fisk Is is coming off a knee injury
that he hurt in the in the playoff loss to
the Eagles, but completely healthy. Kobe Turner sensational, Byron Young sensational.
Speaker 2 (01:36:42):
I mean, they're really still young.
Speaker 4 (01:36:44):
Third year team, but oh my god, you guys, Jared Verse,
if you're not, if you're watching the game, you know,
just watch number eight on defense. He will talk talk
talk talk talk, uh and then at the end of
the game he'll say, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:37:00):
To the opposing player that he's been going up against Houston.
Speaker 4 (01:37:03):
He'll go, man, you made me better today. You know,
he's that kind of guy. But I think that's, you know,
not to get into the x's and o's. That's one
of the you know it's It really is going to
come down to the two line. On the other side,
when you asked about Stafford, Stafford has to stay healthy.
I mean, Jimmy Garoppolo is if you have to go
(01:37:25):
to your backup, that's a really good backup. He's not
going to throw it deep. But he in the scrimmage
against the Cowboys, guys, he was thirty of thirty three.
Speaker 2 (01:37:33):
I mean, he really knows the offense. But you got
to have Stafford healthy. And that's the million dollar question.
I mean, and if both offensive lines, I'll tell you
the other really really quick, fabulous story.
Speaker 4 (01:37:48):
Alaric Jackson, the offensive lineman for the Rams, get blood
clots in his legs. And you know if you twist
an ankle, okay, I know if my ankle's good. I
got blood class. How do you know if you're really good?
He says, it's a fatigue thing. He gets screened every day.
He's going to start. That's a big that's a big,
(01:38:09):
big story on Sunday as well.
Speaker 1 (01:38:11):
Kurt really appreciate the insight. I look forward to meeting
you and a Rockets Clippers or Rockets Lakers game, and
worst case, we're going to have you on for the
Dodgers Astros World Series.
Speaker 4 (01:38:22):
Well, you know what, there's a lot of great connections
with what the Rockets are going to be this year.
Speaker 2 (01:38:28):
And I'm not from LA.
Speaker 4 (01:38:30):
I just cover that team in blue, and so anytime
we can.
Speaker 2 (01:38:34):
Talk Astros Dodgers, bring me on. I love the conversation.
Speaker 1 (01:38:41):
Do you do you fear for your life when you
go to Dodger games?
Speaker 2 (01:38:46):
I don't listen.
Speaker 4 (01:38:47):
We could spend an hour time I don't want to spot.
Speaker 2 (01:38:52):
Here's the two.
Speaker 4 (01:38:53):
Things Dodger fans, God bless them. They're the most arrogant fans.
And that was before they won the World Series. So
that arrogance, to be very honest, and I'm not saying
anything that I wouldn't say. You know, inside the stadium,
it starts from the front office. There are some great players.
Dave Roberts, love him, Derrick. I'm old enough to say
(01:39:16):
I covered Dave Roberts in high school in San Diego.
Good manager, Show Hey is the greatest pleasure of your career.
Anyone who gets to cover Show Hey. But oh my gosh,
the arrogance, it's tough to stomach. Sometimes so I try
to hit it down the middle of the fairway, so
(01:39:36):
to speak. But I think it's a fabulous, fabulous conversation.
And I don't think the Dodgers are going to go
back to the World Series, but if they did and
they played the Astros, that would be a dream. And
I hope it happens, just so we can all talk
again because Matt John Ireland speaks so highly of you,
and I appreciate you, guys having.
Speaker 1 (01:39:56):
He's a good man, a good friend, and Kurt, you're
now Bessie's because of him. Thank you, friend for the time.
We really appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (01:40:02):
Hey, you bet guys, thanks for having me upright.
Speaker 1 (01:40:04):
Kurtz Hennaval joining us ABC seven got me a new
friend in California.
Speaker 2 (01:40:08):
Proud of you.
Speaker 1 (01:40:09):
John Ireland, by the way, is the longtime voice of
the Los Angeles Lakers on radio. And that's I said, John,
get me a good LA guy to talk rams and
we had come ons great, yeah, and he called his
fans arrogant, one of the most arrogant Houston fans. Now Arrogan.
We we already we were up on your Astros Twitter
for good reason, because after Twitter knows they're the most
(01:40:31):
spoiled arrogant?
Speaker 2 (01:40:33):
Though? Is there?
Speaker 1 (01:40:34):
Do we have an argant team in town? Fan base?
Arrogant meeting you and some of your Cougars fans? You
send them? You got them winning the Big Twelve every year. Yes,
it's gonna happen too. They haven't waned. When's the last
time they won their conference? When it was Conference USA? Hey,
we won when it was American We went and beat
that Florida State ass Oh their third string quarterbacks? Great
(01:40:56):
because the first two were afraid to play us. Hello, okay,
you beat their third stream. We're back in. Your coach
got hired away? Thanks? Yeah, where do you go?
Speaker 4 (01:41:04):
Hey?
Speaker 1 (01:41:04):
You went to go start getting in fights with Mike
Gundy at Texas? All right, enough of that. Maybe we
don't have an arrogant fan base. We hadn't entitled, but
not arrogant? Is it very entitled? The Astros fans can
be arrogant on the Twitter streets. I've seen it. Yeah,
they're out to you. Go Hey, if you're God, if
(01:41:24):
you want to attack Ross, I'm all for it. At
sports RV, keep me hurt, now, go get yourself in
follow me on Instagram at sports RV. Don't do that
you're gonna waste your time because again he called you arrogant.
I think you're nice and friendly at Sports MT twelve
thirty four on seven NY. Welcome back to the Matt
(01:41:45):
Thomas Show with Ross Rosbyria with you. Thanks to Kurt
sendov All ABC seven for joining us talking a little
Texans huge matchup coming up. I like LA at the
Los Angeles Rams. Not a fan of Dodger Stadium. I
mean when I get in the stadium, it's oh No.
When you're in it, it's awesome. But getting in it
(01:42:07):
and out of it, whatever happened to you? No, nothing,
It's just the parking is just in. The traffic flow
is uber. I took the shuttle bus. I was fine.
I mean I don't. I don't have the same I
don't have the same history that you do. And their
Dogorg and the Dodger dogs do. Suckers are expensive. Well
(01:42:28):
thank god I wasn't paying for it. But point being
is that, I see what do you wanted about Man
America's guests logistics hands out Thomas? Hands out? Thomas said,
you know what, let's gifts gift. Let's gift mad things.
People like me, they want to do nice things for me. Yeah,
free b m T. I don't ask for it. They're like,
we'd like to take you all right again. I was
(01:42:49):
more than willing to pay. But when they said no,
we got it, I was like, good, I'm glad that
makes me happy. Anyways, we were there for a game.
It was in April against the Padres. We had a
two hour ring delay. You know, I never I've never
grown up on rain delays. Have you ever grown up
on rain delays?
Speaker 2 (01:43:05):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:43:05):
Not really. I mean maybe a college game once in
a while, or a lightning or something. But that's that
was kind of fun territory. Maybe Texas game was delayed
back when I was in college. Yeah, and then I
just got drunk and then missed the game. Hm. So
it kind of die hard you are. I'd rather drink
myself and not work about the game itself. Could be
the biggest game of a lifetime. You know, sometimes you
(01:43:26):
get too hammered at the tailgate and you missed the game.
We've all been there, I know, Gordy's been there. Oh
my god. If you don't, if you don't, if you
don't go into the arena with the blood alcohol level
of two point zher you're in trouble. He's Louisiana. Yeah,
they do a breathalyzer and they hand you shots of whiskey. Yeah,
they're like you, we do not let you into tigers.
An't even let you hit a certain number exactly. The
put put shots in the stuff, the little plastic ones
(01:43:47):
into your coveralls. So a couple of years ago, I
went to a fantasy football draft. I wasn't even involved
in the draft. I was just there as a friend, okay,
and like, we got a bunch of Cajuns and we're
gonna have this great time and we're gonna make this
amazing gumbo and we're like, oh yeah, we are real
occasions went in there, did the fantasy football draft, waited
(01:44:09):
for like three hours of gumbo. Had two bites like yeah,
it's fine, it's no good. Yeah, dark rue or a
light room. It was dark and it just like dark.
I like a good dark roue my room. I don't
care whatever. They get that dog rub for the fantasy
football draft. Hush probablys were a top shelf. You get
damn hush puppies.
Speaker 2 (01:44:26):
Baby.
Speaker 1 (01:44:28):
I'll say this, I do miss New Orleans food. I
need to go back immediately. It's been too long. You
come with me for a Rockets road game. I did
that once. It was fun, right, good time. Yeah, I
had a good time. Rockets win that game. Rockets, I
don't I don't even know. I think I wanted the casino.
People know me if they find me in New Orleans.
(01:44:49):
Where you at, Man, you're on a French quarter. Nope,
you at the casino, you are rarest yepezers. Now they
built up a bunch of new rooms there too. Yeah,
it's it's a it's a metropolis. Now, that's nice. All right,
on to the phones. Let's talk to our buddy Ryan
and Montgomery twelve forty on The Matt Thomas Show with
Ross Ryan.
Speaker 17 (01:45:07):
Good afternoon, afternoon Sellars. So I wonder how that guy's doing.
I forgot his name. Who had all that stuff to
say about the brooms yesterday?
Speaker 1 (01:45:18):
Oh yankee Keith ahead and called in. That's Funny's busy here,
very very busy right now.
Speaker 17 (01:45:24):
But no, hey, Ross, to make you feel better. One
time Sam Houston was playing Texas Tech when Mahomes was
playing there, and we went and I went to the tailgate.
It was a blowout. We got man, it was bad,
but so thing in love because they have you drink
out of these huge pails and you pass it around
in these circles safe.
Speaker 2 (01:45:43):
I don't know. I don't know.
Speaker 17 (01:45:44):
It's not safe at all. Anyways, that's probably the drunkest
I've ever been. I passed out at halftime, woke up
and the game was over, and.
Speaker 2 (01:45:50):
Had the gnarliest sunburn. Ever.
Speaker 17 (01:45:52):
Oh better serve not going to the game.
Speaker 1 (01:45:56):
So your buddies let you just stay out there and fry.
They didn't go to pick you up or put you
in a safer shade.
Speaker 17 (01:46:02):
Dude, we were all past, they were tailgate.
Speaker 1 (01:46:06):
It was kicked all out of the standium or I
guess that's part for the course in Lubbock, it is.
Speaker 2 (01:46:10):
Part of the course of loving.
Speaker 17 (01:46:11):
But no, I mean a bunch of my fraternity brothers
made the nine hour drive just to get blackout drunk
at the tailgate. Don't remember anything but waiting.
Speaker 1 (01:46:18):
You ever been in love for a game?
Speaker 2 (01:46:20):
No? I haven't.
Speaker 1 (01:46:20):
It's great staius awesome. I'll never go to a Texas game, no,
because they they I mean, I've heard horror stories about
how they treat Texas fans there, so I would never go.
As a Texas team well, it's not going to happen.
They don't play suit anymore. Yeah, yeah, well, I mean
I guess playoff. That's true. Texas at Texas, no Texas Texas,
and it could happen with all that n IL cast
you're spending. Do you agree with me when I say
(01:46:40):
that your dan? If you do Dan, if you don't
on the nil, if you know, if you're Texas Tech
and you win, noverybody's gonna say, well you should have
wanted you spend all this money. If you lose, look
at all the money you spent used to and get in. Yeah,
that's true. People aren't realizing that everybody's spending all the money.
Like if somebody would say it's a massive failure if
you don't win a national championship in three years, it's
in Ohio state spending a ton of money, Alabama, Texas Tech, Oregon.
(01:47:04):
It's hard. Matt. Didn't you just bring up that he
gets salty when he loses. Yeah, that's what did I lose?
To tell the truth, that's what That's where it came from.
Is that what it came from? I remember that. Yeah,
I said it would be a massive disappointment of Texas
him to tell the truth. Absolutely was, I don't even
remember that. We don't still trapped mine back out there
(01:47:27):
with sure, why not? I'm his body and his mind,
the same people who understand everybody's spending money. So it's
still A and M spending a bunch of cash. Miami
spending a bunch of cash. That's how many programs that
I just mentioned. The University of Texas though, Okay, what
does that even mean? Oh, you know it exactly. That
tell me what it means. That means you are you
are the the halves. You are the Ohio States not
(01:47:52):
a half, that's right. Alabama's not a half. It's a half.
Actually Alabama may not be a half. Oregon or have
a lot of Maybe I'll don't have the money takes
to tech have a lot of cash. Text tech is
a half. They have a lot of cash. You're blue blood,
You're in Texas and blue blood. Absolutely so it was
in Michigan. I want Michigan and Ohio State and oil Alabama,
(01:48:14):
Like I said, Miami has a lot of history. Florida State,
Florida almost say, is all these money as spending all
these top flive recruits, you don't win a national championship
three years. I want you to say, oh, gollege, shucks,
darn it. Yeah, we'll see what happens. To be the context.
If they made the final four of the playoffs for
a couple of years and they came down to the
last second drives in both uh in both games, you'll
be like the Buffalo Bills. They're making the playoffs at all. Yeah,
(01:48:36):
that would be a massive disappointment. Right, it's contextualized. Tell
them about it. You get you're in, and we'll see.
I don't see you're gonna be in. Okay, you lose
at Florida could be in trouble, but you're not gonna
lose there. They could, why not? Will they even be
utter dogs in there?
Speaker 3 (01:48:50):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:48:51):
Florida's got his top fifteen. Florida's got eight top twenty
five opponents under schedule left of their remaining eleven. You'd
go on the road in the swamp to the number
fifteen team in the country. Treatment it's gonna be tough.
Never been in a swamp me either. I'm surprised you
don't want to go like the one sec venue. Just
gonta trained. Change face a little bit. I mean you're
making money? What's that draftings code code nine eighty seven?
(01:49:12):
Please help me out? See Man's Making It twelve forty four.
Sports Talk seven ninety. It is the Matt Thomas Show
with Ross seven one three two one two five seven Honey,
coming up at one twenty one thirty today. If you
missed our conversation with Brian mctager will have it for
you coming up at one thirty Ross. What is today's
edition of Believe It or Not? All right? He'll be
(01:49:35):
looking for that topic right now as we speak. Right, Jonathan,
when's the last time you do the Humpty home? Never
in my life have I done the Humpty?
Speaker 2 (01:49:44):
Help?
Speaker 1 (01:49:45):
That's that's way before my time. Just to make you
feel a little old though, you know, two thousand and two,
after the Towers, After the Towers, I have never I
know exactly what that means, but yet I've never heard it.
That's what everybody that here's our a this we all say,
Oh my god, you won't even born. Then, Wow, that's creepy.
(01:50:07):
That's not missing you said, it's just a creepy phrase.
Speaker 2 (01:50:09):
H You never heard that?
Speaker 1 (01:50:11):
You remember? Do you remember where you were?
Speaker 2 (01:50:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:50:13):
I was in was in high school. And they they
rolled into TV every class we went into and we
just watched CNN or yeah, I think it was CNN
every single like every hour. I was, uh, all in disbelief.
I was working at k t r H during morning
sports updates. We would do four hours of news in
the morning, and I did sports updates twice an hour,
(01:50:34):
and I was in the in the newsroom and we
had the very first thing we thought not to get
overly more but here, but I was thinking about it.
Uh was we had thought just a planning crash and
there was a flight control issue or something that just
crashed in the building and we didn't know that. Remember
watching the towers collapse on TV in school. That was
going crazy. Then they talked about, uh, the Pentagon getting
(01:50:56):
hit and then some you know, somebody, some random kid
or somebody started a room or some girl ran in
and was like they're storming the White House, like we
thought there was like a coup happened right right.
Speaker 2 (01:51:07):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (01:51:10):
It was like, Mary'll shut up, that was wrong. Maryl
you dumb bitch. Oh kay, she's very nice. Shut up, Mary.
We love you, Mary, we hate class three minutes. You're
the best, Matt. She's probably in prison. She just heard
a rumor from somebody else. It wasn't her fault. That's
I don't know why it burned in my memory. Well,
(01:51:32):
I guess it was a big day. What if you
see her in arena, you were gonna say thanks to
the thanks on nine eleven assessment, Well the ten year
I got that was when that was twenty thirteen. Texas
was supposed to lose to ou. It was a eleven
am start and they they they upset o you and
I got. They'll say I celebrated too much that day.
(01:51:52):
Do a lot of celebraty and make the tenure. Didn't
make the tenure? When did you graduate?
Speaker 2 (01:51:56):
What year?
Speaker 1 (01:51:56):
Two thousand and three? Twenty year? I think we couldn't
even get it together. You just missed your twenty year. Yeah,
we're gonna have to have it at the prison visitation room.
That previous comment by at sports RV Paul on seven
on a Hill Paul, Hey.
Speaker 5 (01:52:14):
Good afternoon, Good afternoon, Ross and Matt Yo. I wanted
to talk by you by you bucket. What's going on
at U of hre? Is you of H ready for
this one? Are they overlooking Rice?
Speaker 2 (01:52:28):
So they are?
Speaker 5 (01:52:28):
They got the big you know, big britches on now
that they're big twelve.
Speaker 1 (01:52:32):
What's going on?
Speaker 5 (01:52:33):
I'm a Rice fan and I'm gonna call my shot.
I've just boke you of H basketball and respect U
of H football. But I think Rice has kept a
lot of the offense under wraps in that first game.
There's a bunch of stuff in there that they haven't
shown yet. It's gonna be twenty one to seven at halftime.
Rice U H defense is gonna shut Rice down. In
(01:52:55):
the second half, it's gonna be twenty one twenty late
into fourth quarter, you is gonna go for two and
Rice is gonna stop him. Twenty one twenty.
Speaker 1 (01:53:04):
Wow, love it, sir. You're sir. You are not allowed
to drink and drive. Okay, I don't know what you're
doing right now, but it's a highly illegal uh. I mean,
first of all, will you even have a thousand people
at the game?
Speaker 2 (01:53:23):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:53:27):
We at least you're being honest. When did you did
you go to did you go to school at Rice?
You're just a Rice fan.
Speaker 5 (01:53:34):
I graduated in ninety one, so I saw Chuck Weatherspoon
and David Dakas. Oh yeah, all of the U of
AH lamar Lathan all of the U of H five
Beta kappas at that time.
Speaker 1 (01:53:46):
Yes, well, I'm gonna tell you this. We're going to
keep it close because of the fact that Rice is
running this uh not necessarily a triple option, but it's
a it's a it's a it's a vere run style
offense that takes up large amounts of time off the clock,
like they in Louisiana. I think you of H covers,
(01:54:06):
I would say it's going to be along the lines
of twenty four to ten.
Speaker 2 (01:54:14):
That would be a cover.
Speaker 5 (01:54:15):
Yeah, it'll be interesting that they've they've had some really
good games in the past, and I hope, I hope
this one lives up. It's the last by U bucket
for a long time, so hopefully, hopefully it'll be I
hope it'll be fun. Unfortunately, most of the bucket memories
I have are negative. When like and you probably remember
the game and the last Southwest Conference football game. Oh yeah, right,
(01:54:37):
backed it up and Halffield took two knees and backed
up five yards and then we missed the field goal.
That was That was pain point. That air rate fired
back in the late.
Speaker 1 (01:54:49):
Eighties or Roberts over again, yeap hey, a good conversation.
I will say this, you're one of the only Rice
fans ever called me in the history of my doing
my care, so so the only ones that exists. Yeah,
and you don't. Only he's ninety either, so that's you
may be older, but that's fine. Uh, yeah, I don't.
(01:55:09):
We rushed the ball for two or nine yards ourselves
against SFA, so yeah, that was there was a lot
of that was running out here like wegman, was that good?
Speaker 2 (01:55:17):
Okay?
Speaker 1 (01:55:18):
I didn't say we ran for nine yards. We average
ran Yeah, four yards of carry. Yeah, saying like you know,
total of thirty nine half in the college football game.
That's bad. It was zero zero to what the second
quarter in like seven minutes, women through for one hundred
and fifty nine yards, three touchdowns. We should have had
(01:55:40):
at least two pick sixes in the game. I'm telling you,
when Rice decides to throw the five times they do
to them. We picked in the University of Houston's hands.
We're going pick six the house, I mean, in front
of three thousand people over at Rice Stadium this Saturday. Well,
the games in Houston, shouldn't it be full of Houston fans? Well,
they're not letting us in. That's such a lie. You
don't know that. You can't even say that with a
(01:56:01):
straight face. I can't say it with an extremely straight face.
Thirty nine and a half in a college football game.
That is gross. Yeah, that's gotta be twenty four to ten.
I took the hunder in the game for sure. Yeah,
it should be a real barn burner. Willy on seven
ninety high Willie.
Speaker 19 (01:56:17):
Hi, Yeah, this is Willy from Friendswood.
Speaker 1 (01:56:20):
Hey, Willie, I have a cold.
Speaker 19 (01:56:21):
Yeah, I have a cold. So I sound kind of horse,
But I'm going to tell you rosstet me off again.
Speaker 1 (01:56:27):
Oh good, get him?
Speaker 19 (01:56:30):
Yeah without slams on the Cougars all the time on
what cut West, the last conference they've ever won. You
know what ross. When the Cougars went into the Southwest
Conference in the seventies, we were a powerhouse and we
blew almost everybody off the football field. We had a
bunch of cotton bowls. I don't let me tell you
(01:56:52):
it was fun football. It was in the Astrodome.
Speaker 1 (01:56:55):
No, okay, like forty five years ago has a good run.
Speaker 19 (01:56:58):
Oh yeah, I'm gonna tell you you weren't even born.
Speaker 1 (01:57:02):
I'm so it's been a while.
Speaker 19 (01:57:04):
No, yeah, well maybe you are to look up to history.
Speaker 1 (01:57:08):
Yeah, I gotta dust off that I'm talking about, dust
off that Cougar's book. It's been a minute. Will you
get national? They were running football?
Speaker 2 (01:57:15):
Then?
Speaker 1 (01:57:15):
How many national championships they win? They should have had
at least too, Willie, thank you for the funk. We're
going to save you for your voice there. And how
many of those how many of those wins were vacated
due to n C double A infractions? Just wondering. None.
We have been, We have been. We have been a
pristine program since day one. I'm telling you, I don't remember.
Guy wasn't born. We we've got banners, we've got trophies,
(01:57:39):
we've got bowl championships. We've got cool people. We have
nice successful people in business. You got broken promises and arrogance.
Cool people is the fact there. Okay, cool please, cool people.
Your s FA people had the best time in Houston Internet.
They're actually able to get out of their wagons and
actually have a real and have to put shoes on.
(01:58:01):
I mean, it was all good. Don't you live in
South Nakadosis? I do, I do live in some Yeah,
this Loverjack Cayman. I live in the Liverpool Forest. Willie,
don't take it that seriously. Was having fun and it's
only because Matts here's out. We don't talk about you
of age football at all like most people. Willy get him.
Next time you you have Carte Blanche to destroy that man.
(01:58:21):
Carte Blunt talk about the great history of the never
won a championship and then when they had their best
run of football ever, they were getting massive NCAA infractions. Hey,
great job, guys, but we went to the Peach Bowl
and destroyed Florida State because nobody else will want to play.
Go to your school. Is the Matt Thomas Show with
Ross one six on Sports Talk seven ninety. It is
(01:58:46):
a Matt Thomas Show with Ross. Astro is a chance
to win another series and the Astros have a four
game lead. They're playing the Yankees a wrap up the
series and a trip to Arlington tonight to take on
the Rangers for a three game series Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Meanwhile,
on the MLB Scorecard tonight it will be the Mariners.
(01:59:10):
With an off day, they'll have a weekend series against
the Braves. The Braves are sixty three and seventy seven.
The Astros will see the Braves a week from Friday.
Speaker 2 (01:59:21):
Big.
Speaker 1 (01:59:21):
I think it's this big trip coming up first, Like,
of the one game against the Inkings, you've got three
with the Rangers, You've got three in Toronto against the
first place team that's trying to hold out of the
top spot or at least one of the top spots
in the American League. And then get Atlanta wants to
be frisky, maybe be a sporter, because if they could
do that for the Mariners, it would be a big
help for the Astros. So we're down the home stretch, friends,
(01:59:42):
we really are, and this is exciting. And the most
important thing is as bad as the Astros the perceptions
they've played, they're still fourteen games about five hundred and
a four game lead in the division, thirty two games
up to go. They're not gonna win one hundred games.
They're not that tight. Tw they're not one of the
world beating teams of Major League Baseball. But there's still
(02:00:05):
four games in first place. I think the fan base
should act like it. Also, by the way, the Mariners
have to face Chris Sayle, who's been fantastic this year,
and Spencer Strider, So let's go Braves. So if that happens,
would they see them? They would probably see them next
weekend too. Yeah, I'm assuming the Braves an off day.
(02:00:27):
Somewhere in the mix that right, Cardinals. Rondon's gonna throw
today for the Yankees, Oh rossy fifteen and seven with
an ERA of three eight.
Speaker 2 (02:00:37):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (02:00:37):
And also in the middle of that is some guy
named Heirston wald Trip who's got fast in He's got
five starts on the season and he's four and oh
with a one point oh one e. R. Let's go Braves,
Let's go bravessers have to play these same braves probabitations
looking good? Why are they so bad? Yeah? Injuries?
Speaker 2 (02:00:57):
I hit them hard. Uh.
Speaker 1 (02:00:59):
Javier goes to today, let's go sixteen innings? What do
he throw six in his last start after throwing ten
in the first three starts? Something like that, So hopefully
the Astros can get a win. It is a little
bit of an earlier start tonight. So if you're going
to the game, it's a six forty first pitch, yes,
and a seven to ten first pitch. Oh, No, six
to forty first pitch five point thirty on deck with
(02:01:21):
Adam and Adam here on Sports Talk seven ninety Rangers
will be the Astros opponent and the Yankees. Boy, they
didn't do anything favors the Yankees. The Yankees said, all
the way back to New York to play our game tomorrow.
It's a long trip after a night game. That's a shame.
I like more day games. Row some about you how
you find this is not bad? I mean, I'm not
one to ten starting very nice. I would like to see,
(02:01:42):
you know, ten to fifteen first pitches occasional. What did
when I went on vacation, where were they the game started?
Like eleven thirty Detroit, Detroit. That's good?
Speaker 2 (02:01:52):
All right?
Speaker 1 (02:01:52):
So I want to bring up that you marched up
the Astro fan base. And remember when we do tease
because we care. Most of y'all are cool. I would
say eighty percent, Yeah, maybe more eighty five and not
more than that. Okay, So there's that fifteen percent of India. Look,
it's it's people you go at the games. It's your
co workers, it's your buddies on Twitter, it's in your igs,
(02:02:17):
it's in your dms, and your people who you think
otherwise are relatively intelligent. Yeah, I mean, you have stockbrokers,
you've got attorneys, lawyers, airplane pilots, people that run grocery stores.
It's all economics, all societies, all demographics. Eighty five percent
of y'all as salt of the earth. Fifteen percent of
(02:02:37):
you you're bad, blank crazy and stop sending that emails. Yeah,
well that's not gonna happen. I can't look block to them. NAM,
I'm not a blocker. I'm a lover. You block. You've
blocked thousands of people. Yeah, but usually they're bots or douchebags.
If you're a bodder of douchebag, you're getting blocked my
Twitter account. Okay, you're in one of those two categories. Uh,
(02:03:02):
what was I going with this? Oh, we're talking about
the astro base. I've gotten probably a lot of tweets
that say, I can't wait for the season to be
oble with.
Speaker 2 (02:03:13):
Spoiled.
Speaker 1 (02:03:14):
If if that was If that was the case, every
Texan fan would say, why bother playing the seventeen because
I know what the texts are gonna do. They're gonna
win ten games, eleven games. They're going to play a
first round playoff opponent at three o'clock on a Saturday.
They're gonna win that game at Energy Stadium. They're gonna
go on the road and lose. Now, I think that's
(02:03:34):
the favorite pick again this year, but things can obviously change.
If all of a sudden, Pat Mahomes breaks his ankle
in Week one, you gotta punch a chance. If Lamar
Jackson has a terrible season or Josh Allen, Josh Allen regresses,
it's called a deep list. I mean, I've been but
Joe Burrow get hurt. I'm feeling good about the Texas chances.
(02:03:56):
Point thing is this, You are a fan of a
team to watch it play out, whether it's in good
times or in bad. And I you're four up, You're
in first place. You're not Atlanta, You're not playing out
the street, You're not Baltimore. Do you know Baltimore? One
what one hundred games back to back seasons, and they're
gonna sit there and finish in fourth or last place
(02:04:18):
in America League East. They won't even be tasting a
playoff spot. It could be worse. And I just want
to know when did baseball become mature? On your life?
Speaker 2 (02:04:31):
Now?
Speaker 1 (02:04:31):
If you want to say, wake me up when the
playoffs begin I'm not a huge fan of that, but
I kind of get it. I get that. But yeah,
if you're getting fully invested in the team and it's
making you miserable, which it seems like there's a lot
of you it is. This is not an obligation. This
is not something you have to do. Yeah, your livelihood
(02:04:52):
and your health does not depend on whether or not
you fan the Astros or not. So when you run
to Twitter and tell me or tell in the for
you tab, I can't wait for this season to be
oble with. I mean, it's it's it's not like you're
going through a flu bug and they won the game. Yeah,
you got your guy Mike telling you the game is over.
The game is over. It's over. They lost three nothing
(02:05:13):
games over. I'm looking at it like Childer Roumes mentions
like are they Childer Roam's just putting out the lineup
over under one and a half runs every single reply,
under every single reply, like who are these miserable people?
Sports are not supposed to make you miserable? No, Now
you know, these astros and running scoring position can sometimes
(02:05:35):
make I mean, there are some things. I mean, watching
watching Fromber be bad Fromber makes you miserable. I can
say these things as I'm an Astro fan. You can
even say you of eighths, you know, yeah football, Yeah,
investing time in their football has been a futile experience
for like eight years. And I understand where you're coming from.
And you're suspended without pay for saying what you just said.
(02:05:56):
But it's fair. I like how the Lumberjacks get the snipes.
That's why I'm not a Texans fan. I've got plenty
of unhappiness in my life to carry me over for
other team. Hey, what do you mean? Division A round?
Two years in a row, baby, AFC South Champs, Brian.
You know what, if that's I think it's gonna happen again.
(02:06:17):
If that's the crescendo, then I hope you as battle
Red Ross, enjoy that. I don't need it. I mean,
I've been enjoying the season. I haven't been miserable being
battle Red Ross for two season. You know what I can't.
It's actually, I'm gonna be honest with you. I am
not a big enough fan of baseball to watch a
Rando game between the Marriag's bad choice between the Red
(02:06:37):
Sox and the Tigers. I'll put it on, but you're
not gonna pay super Bowl crochet or something good match.
So if you don't have that and you're looking elsewhere,
point being, is this what else you gonna watch? The NFL?
You can put two random games on and I'm vested.
That's mostly because I got fantasy football. Still I don't
always have that, But I'm just telling you it's a
(02:06:58):
little it's a it's a little bit of a nice
breathing spot. I have a fan of a football team. Okay, Now,
if the Texans want to prove to me that there
are gonna be something they're not they're ready, then I
will not only will I become a Texans fan, I
will be donned and head to togear. I'll be an
Adam Clinton. We will gravy train off of a team
that I barely cover and talk about, and I will
(02:07:19):
love on them. We will order a sauteed crow, yes
for you to eat, Yes, live on air, lots of garlic.
I gotta put something on there. But me not being
a fan, it's kind of you know, like like there
are people that are listening to our show that will
live and die on the Texans and if they lose
this game on Sunday against the Rams. They're gonna be
(02:07:40):
really pissed off. Everybody in life has a certain amount
of things that they want to check into, and that's okay,
yeah you check in. For example, I have a root
for a Premier League team. You don't, and so that's
everybody's choice and you can you live and die by that.
I choose not to do so I would say live
and die. But yeah, I get up at like six
thirty to watch them lose two nothing. That's always fun, know,
you just be pleased they had two goals scored in
(02:08:01):
the game six thirty in the morning.
Speaker 2 (02:08:03):
US.
Speaker 1 (02:08:03):
Sometimes their games are at six thirty. I don't always
get up for the six thirties or depends on how
big the game is. I'll record it. That's that's good
enough because it yeah, yeah, all right, don't watch a
soccer game. I'm just curious when when it became I
can't wait for the season to be over. Talk why
that it became a thing in twenty twenty five. I
(02:08:24):
don't know what's going on, because let me tell you something.
You do not want to be Rockyes fan. You don't
want to be Reds fan?
Speaker 4 (02:08:31):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (02:08:31):
Is this too? General. I think we have like a
big mental health crisis in America in general. Anyways. Oh,
I'm mentally unstable. It's the pandemics. Yeah, man, we know.
Thank thanks Charvin, he said it. Not me all right,
trying to be nice. I'm sure to be measured in nice.
Brian mctagger to the bottom of the hour here on
Sports Talk seven ninety twenty one Sports Talk seven, and
(02:08:57):
we'll get back to the baseball chatter a little bit.
But I do want to tell you that. But at
Texans practice today, not more non sightings of two wide
receivers that I think would have been a part of
the opening day roster, including Christian Kirk, who I thought
it would be kind of a sneaky Did I have
Christian Kirk in the ends on a week one I
think I did for gut feeling on the Texans had
(02:09:20):
him over fifty catches and forty nine. Well, that could
still happen too, Yeah. Not if he's missing Week one,
it's not over to a good start. Cracks and Barrios,
by the way, I guess is perceived one of the
kicker slash punt returners, also not available today. They were
both listed as hamstring injuries on the injury report, and
then Cam Robinson was out today, was practicing today, did
(02:09:42):
not practice yesterday because of an illness. So we got
Dallas felt off you tonight. Yeah, should be great looking
forward to It should be a high scoring game. Close,
it'll be eight and a half's kind of a meaty spread.
Speaker 2 (02:09:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:09:58):
And then the game tomorrow is in zill Yeah. They
did that last year. The turf was terrible, right. Well,
the thing I kept hearing about last year was they
told the players do not leave the hotel.
Speaker 2 (02:10:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:10:10):
I don't know if you want to necessarily be promoting
a game in which your league has been telling its
players do not leave the hotel because of violence potential violence?
Is everybody good? Nobody got hurt, right, I don't tell you.
So maybe some people got robbed. I can't remember a
couple things stolen. That's why the game will never be
putting Aldens for sure. WoT I mean they're doing all
right over there. I mean that Okay, did get robbed
(02:10:32):
a few times, but I mean, yeah, hood hasn't broke
into the car a couple of times. Yeah, the International
games will be good, and then Sunday, Sunday will be
the three twenty five. We don't. We don't get a
whole lot of three twenty fives. We're getting three twenty
fives this year because we're playing West Coast teams, but
firing up the red zone at noon, full day of football.
I'm excited. They're saying four fifteen second commercials to be
played during the course of that during seven hours. Yeah,
(02:10:55):
if I'm correct on that, I want to double chicks
one minute of spots. It's nothing that'll grow. Oh, it'll grow,
that's right, don't don't worry. It'll be plenty and plenty
of there do Yeah. This streaming service. Oh yeah, it's
four ninety nine. Oh okay, sorry, it's six ninety nine now.
Oh it's nine ninety nine. And its ads. They know
how to slow dose you. They know what they're doing,
(02:11:17):
very calculated. Yeah, I'm trying to see if I if
I was just reading that out of my if I
made that up, or I thought I saw that it
was going to be it was a reliable source. Or
you're probably going on someone for you. You know, you
can't trust those people.
Speaker 2 (02:11:29):
No, you can't.
Speaker 1 (02:11:31):
You spend all your time there still, Okay, c j
S drop back in Los Angeles's home area. That doesn't
play much to me one way or the other. I
mean not really. No, I'm more worried about Christian Kirk
being out. So d that's a D n P on
a Thursday. That's alway good. Tomorrow we are make we
are making our predictions in the NFL season. Yeah, not tonight,
not today. No, it's we're we're good. No, we're almost
(02:11:53):
out of time. Okay, what if the Eagles lose by thirty,
it's going to change my perspective on the NFC. Do
you think they're gonna lose by thirty? I don't coins
with us tomorrow too. Friday, so it start off Friday,
Roto visits. It's gonna be every Friday. Every Friday a Thursday.
He it's easier for him to do on Friday. I'm
not gonna argue with him on Thursday night football, I know.
I mean, I can't.
Speaker 2 (02:12:12):
I can't.
Speaker 1 (02:12:12):
I can't. I don't even talk to this guy. Why
don't you do that? You'll probably stick of talking to you.
He loves me, though, you do is ask him seventeen
questions about the Toros? Yeah, I can't. Can we get
to other things that are happening in fantasy football rather
than just trust me trying to assess it. State your team.
Tomorrow's rotal visits about ninety percent about the Toros and
ten percent about you all squad. So, oh yeah, we're
playing you and I are playing a matchup this week,
(02:12:33):
and you are a four and a half point favorite.
Is that true? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (02:12:36):
Okay?
Speaker 1 (02:12:37):
Or most of what happens. I think within if you're
within five, you're finding the way right. Who's my quarterback?
I got colder Murray going against New Orleans defense? Okay,
brock Perty, I'm ready at Seattle too. I kind of
like my matchup more than yours. How did you guys?
Let me get Sequon and Neighborsquon. I always say Sequon.
(02:12:58):
It's a funny say on. Well, maybe there's a thought
he might be injured this year. Everybody's saying that, but
we'll see now twenty eight. See, I'm not concerned. That
doesn't feel very don't. That's not fair to running backs.
That's why their money has been so bad the last
few years in the NFL is because everybody in their
(02:13:20):
pundits mothers are saying, well, NFL running backs once they
get to twenty eight or pass their prime. Yeah, twenty
eight is I get it, and it's coming. He's coming
off with a bunch of carries. And then, funny enough,
somebody was like, after you know, you look at the numbers.
After two thousand yard seasons, the production goes down. Oh yeah, no, no, no,
pleak genius. People don't normally get back to back two
thousand yard rushing seasons. Who could have seen that coming.
(02:13:42):
It's like, are the Chiefs set for a downfall? Well,
they went sixteen to one. I guess they're gonna have
them in fifteen to two. They made the Super Bowl,
they might go thirteen and four. Oh. People's kind of
like Astros fans. I'm hoping for Travis kelcey big season
because he doing it first bride and doing it for
the Troughs checked out. You know, it is funny that
(02:14:06):
he's going to be swiping through wedding dresses in the
middle of the updated app still has him in the
leagues on ESPN apps being plat I think an eighty
eight percent of uh starting in eighty eight percent of leagues. Yeah,
tight ends of wasteland. It is unless you got training
bride baby, let's go feeling good this weekend?
Speaker 2 (02:14:24):
Make a bet? No, why not?
Speaker 1 (02:14:25):
Because I hate my team. It's only got me a
fifty generally, Honestly, in my experience, when you hate your team,
those are the teams that do the Yeah, I've loved
my team in years past. Man, I smashes draft. You
go like four and eleven. Mike, you're on seven ninety.
Good afternoon, Matt.
Speaker 2 (02:14:43):
Did you enjoy my emails last night?
Speaker 3 (02:14:45):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (02:14:45):
I did not, but Ross did talk to Ross? Mike, Mike,
what does your therapists have to say about all this?
I still think the batting coach has got to go.
Speaker 2 (02:14:55):
He's the worst.
Speaker 1 (02:14:56):
Who is what's his name?
Speaker 2 (02:14:59):
Sit train?
Speaker 1 (02:15:01):
What about Troy Snicker? Let us sind trum get all
of the hate be terrible? What about Troy Snicker? Is
he good?
Speaker 11 (02:15:09):
I don't know about him?
Speaker 1 (02:15:10):
Okay, so you wanted to fire him now?
Speaker 11 (02:15:13):
Yeah, I think the whole front office manager, everybody's gotta go.
Speaker 8 (02:15:16):
I think there's.
Speaker 1 (02:15:19):
Uh okay, So who should they hire for hitting coach?
Speaker 2 (02:15:23):
For hitting coach?
Speaker 11 (02:15:23):
I think Michael Brantley would be beautiful.
Speaker 1 (02:15:26):
Michael Brantley for hitting coach? What's he doing right now?
Speaker 11 (02:15:30):
Well, if he would take the job, he would be
the best in.
Speaker 2 (02:15:33):
The league based off of what I mean.
Speaker 11 (02:15:36):
I never saw anybody more discipline, just work. The pictures
they got nobody that that can.
Speaker 2 (02:15:46):
There.
Speaker 11 (02:15:47):
Well yeah, if he's not rested, Yeah, I think that's
the worst there is. The guy rest him way the
hell too much. He's knocking the cover off the ball,
and they, oh, it's time for a rest.
Speaker 8 (02:15:59):
Oh needs arrest?
Speaker 2 (02:16:01):
What the hell?
Speaker 8 (02:16:02):
I agree with Sean.
Speaker 1 (02:16:04):
You know on that how long you've been watching How
long you've been watching Astros baseball?
Speaker 11 (02:16:09):
Mike, nobody, nobody rested Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Mickey Mann.
Speaker 1 (02:16:14):
In the nineteen sixties. So what they play this different time?
Speaker 4 (02:16:20):
We will?
Speaker 2 (02:16:21):
We know what Mike. We need.
Speaker 1 (02:16:22):
We need more and more cal upkens than this sport.
Speaker 11 (02:16:24):
I don't disagree with you, friend, I would trade anybody
on their Astros for Matt Chapman.
Speaker 1 (02:16:30):
Matt Chapman every single day. No, you mean Matt Olsen.
Speaker 11 (02:16:35):
No, the guy in Atlanta, Yes, that has like eight
hundred great.
Speaker 1 (02:16:39):
Guess Matt, you'll see him in a week. Not Chapman.
Speaker 11 (02:16:44):
Well, that's the guys, that's the kind of people we need.
Speaker 1 (02:16:48):
Well, Matt, Well, the Braves are losing the Braves. The
Bras are losing.
Speaker 8 (02:16:55):
We know, okay, I my guys know what I think.
Speaker 1 (02:16:59):
Keep saying those emails and copyrights on you. You'd like
to see him as well, I think, Mike, thank you
very much? All right, there you go, but that thank
you Mike? Who that's a real barrel of laughs that guy.
Look are you real fun going to dinner with Mike?
This food's terrible. They have Rabi is overcooked. They have
(02:17:19):
had at one point eight starting pitchers on the IL
at one point, what was it? Got up to eighteen
players on the IL at one time. They are fourteen
games above five hundred. There are four games in first place.
And he wants the hitting coaches, the manager and Watson
and the general manager fired. Yeah okay, yeah, sen mathose emails.
Speaker 2 (02:17:44):
Oh he does.
Speaker 1 (02:17:44):
He sends me to today and I'm gonna ford him
to you don't afford those to me, please, but I
will say I will block you. You can't block me.
You can block email dresses pretty sure. Now, look you'll
figure it away, right.
Speaker 3 (02:17:59):
Right.
Speaker 1 (02:18:00):
Brian McTaggart is up next on the what do you
saw last night?
Speaker 2 (02:18:04):
Mail?
Speaker 1 (02:18:05):
I'm sending you straight to the drunk to not do
not send me to junk. I'm the best emailer. You
know you're a junk email.
Speaker 3 (02:18:20):
God.
Speaker 20 (02:18:20):
Have the U of the Kariokey steak. What you're going
to the shrimp? Yeah, I appreciate that. Well, Fried Rice.
Speaker 1 (02:18:32):
Oh yeah, I'll take some of those peppers and onions too.
Speaker 2 (02:18:36):
Uh huh.
Speaker 1 (02:18:38):
Yeah, okay, thank you. Hey, Matt, open your open your mouth,
catch a shrimp, Maddie. So the reason why he's doing
this is because he is uh it's a little f boy.
What's his face? Excuse me? Jeff Passon says, but Kyle
(02:19:03):
Tucker is going to get a twelve year contract. I'm
just checking browsing ESPN dot com and some predictions from
Jeff Passing about guys like Kyle Tucker, Kyle Schwarber, others
speculating about his possible contract. Matt, that's all, and it says,
(02:19:24):
what go ahead say? He says the most obvious deal
to compare Tucker to would be the twelve year, three
hundred and sixty five million dollar deal that Mookie Betts
got at his age twenty eight. Season says the contract
Kyle Tucker will likely be in the five hundred million
dollar range. Of course, he talked about how end of
June we're talking about vlag Gallerero's five hundred million dollar deal,
(02:19:46):
so things can go down to see. Okay, I know
he was lifted from the game after hitting a three
run homer, was Kyle Tucker. Yeah, he's got a bad calf. Oh,
I believe it's going to be amputated. Here is Brian mctagger.
Enough with you and your stupid bet. Here a little
bit of Brian mctagger talking about the win last night
with the Astros were down for one, came back to
win at eight to seven.
Speaker 12 (02:20:07):
Yeah, the swings on the five balls he put in
play were I mean, he crushed all five of those balls.
I mean, and you don't hear much about it because
the balls weren't in the air. Generally didn't hit any
home runs, but all five balls he hit were one
hundred and three point five x of velocity are higher.
The only other person to do that is since they
(02:20:29):
started tracking the X of velocities in twenty fifteen, is
Sho hal Tana.
Speaker 1 (02:20:34):
He did it last year and.
Speaker 12 (02:20:37):
Alrez has done it twice. Now, I mean that that
was impressive. Yeah, he he just adds a total different
element in there. I mean even when he came back
the first couple of games, they're pitching around him already,
even though he missed one hundred games.
Speaker 1 (02:20:48):
They want no part of him.
Speaker 12 (02:20:49):
You know, he draws four walks his first date played appearances,
He changes everything in that lineup, and I think he's
going to start, you know, hitting the ball in the
air eventually and doing some serious damage.
Speaker 1 (02:20:58):
I mean he's played in.
Speaker 12 (02:21:00):
What eight games, he's slashing four thirty five is on
bass over five sixty and he's slugging six on nine.
Speaker 1 (02:21:08):
He's only hit one home run. So I think the
best is still yet to come. You know, the argument
is are the Astros being patient enough? Are they being
too patient? There have been a lot of single digit
number innings by opposing pitchers the last probably the last
month or so. Carlos Kray was asked about that in
the clubhouse a couple of days ago. He says, look,
(02:21:30):
we're aggressive. Where a type of team that's going to
try to get out in front of these things. I
didn't find it ironic at all. Tag yesterday at the
Astro started to make their move with a lot of
first pitch swinging.
Speaker 12 (02:21:45):
Yeah, I mean, I think you know, facing a tough picture,
they kind of wanted to set the tone a little bit.
But especially when they got to that bullpen, they I
think they having Devin Williams was just like putting meat
in the water and they were sharks. They know he
can struggle of times, and you got to get him
up on the zone, and so I think they went
there with the mindset anything up in the zone, you know,
(02:22:06):
we're gonna we're gonna take or swing at.
Speaker 1 (02:22:08):
And he proved to be a little bit wild. So
the approach against the relievers was was really good.
Speaker 12 (02:22:14):
H you know, took advantage from wildness and drew some
walks and then got a couple of big hits.
Speaker 1 (02:22:19):
On that eighth inning. But uh yeah, Korea is right.
I mean, they can't go out and just change their approach.
I mean they do.
Speaker 12 (02:22:24):
Miss peretis a lot, just with the amount of pitches
he takes. But I don't think guys like Jiner or
Altuve are suddenly gonna start working counts deep. I mean,
Yanner did have a really good at batt late in
the game. I think he went nine pitches, ended up
striking out. He fouled a bunch of pitches off but
this team is what it is, and uh, hey they
(02:22:44):
got they got Alvarez back, and you know, we saw
how much that can that can change the whole line.
Speaker 1 (02:22:49):
Continue with Brian McTaggart here on Sports Talk seven ninety
and Brian, every season is kind of its own story,
and Jason Alexander has been a good part of that
story lately. I mean, how about him coming out of
nowhere and how long do you think he can just
keep this up? He wasn't spectacular last night, gave up
a couple of runs, but he has been a very
important part of the Asher is trying to keep this
(02:23:10):
Boata float.
Speaker 12 (02:23:12):
Yeah, and I don't think he is going to be spectacular.
He's going to do you know what he's done. I
mean they've won the last seven games he started, which
is which is pretty incredible. So he's in this rotation
I think through the end of the season. You know,
he doesn't do anything fancy.
Speaker 1 (02:23:25):
He just he strikes, He keeps him off balance of
sinker sweeper change up. He's very prepared. I mean, this
Yankees lineup is very dangerous.
Speaker 2 (02:23:33):
You know.
Speaker 12 (02:23:33):
I think everybody, everybody in the lineup had hit at
least eighteen home runs. You know, they lead to majors
and home runs, so there's power up and down this lineup.
So giving up a couple of home runs, you know,
it's not the end of the world, but he limited
the damage after that, and yeah, I mean he's you know,
there's two or three guys you can say, where would
they be without Blank and Jason Alexander is one of them.
Considering the injuries they've had to the rotation and another
(02:23:57):
one they got yesterday with Spencer Arigetti.
Speaker 1 (02:23:59):
Yeah, it leads me to my next question, was going
to be with Raghetty. Obviously hard to speculate, we don't
know a whole lot, but obviously hard to feel encouraged
by elblow elbow inflammation. Yeah, it doesn't sound good.
Speaker 12 (02:24:12):
I mean, how many elbow inflammations that we heard this
year and I don't think any of them have come back.
You know, quicker very quickly, and the fact that he's
you know, there's three and a half weeks left in
the regular season, he's going to be out two weeks,
so without even knowing what's going on, the chances of
him coming back and pitching at the end of the
regular season, you know, don't look very good.
Speaker 1 (02:24:32):
I mean, so where are they at with the rotation
right now?
Speaker 12 (02:24:35):
Well, I mean they had a six man rotation and
so now they had five guys in the rotation, Javier Brown, Garcia,
Valdez and Alexander and they have some days off coming up,
So I mean, you can stick with a five man rotation.
Speaker 1 (02:24:48):
That doesn't mean that.
Speaker 12 (02:24:51):
That Brown, Garcia, and Valdez are gonna have to pitch
on on four day's rest, you know, this weekend. The Astros,
you know, going to be comfortable with that or do
they want to maybe slid aj Blueball in there just
to slide everybody down a day. But they have a
day off Monday, and then you know, all those guys
could continue to pitch on five days of rest. So
(02:25:13):
not good news, certainly, but they the fact that they
did get Garcia back in Hobvy Air back. They do
have five guys now on the rotation, and that might
be the five guys they have to march forward with
the end of the season and into the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (02:25:27):
Did you get any recon and all on Jake Myers,
I know he left the game early last night in
sugar Land.
Speaker 2 (02:25:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 12 (02:25:34):
I got someone that at sugar Land told me that
he fouled a ball off his leg or shin or
something and left, so it doesn't appear it was CAS related,
so he might have just been precautionary.
Speaker 1 (02:25:45):
So I don't know him more than that. I mean,
he was scheduled to play.
Speaker 12 (02:25:50):
Again today, take tomorrow off, and then join the Astros
in Arlington on Saturday, So I don't know if this
changes that or not. You know, the fact that they
have a four game lead, if they have to get
him a couple extra days, I think they'd be willing
to do that at this point.
Speaker 1 (02:26:02):
But we should get more information on him later today.
You know, we have not talked to you on air
since the whole fromber situation. It has been universal in
terms of the national perspective. And I know that Joe
a spot a minute a point yesterday to say, you
know what, I don't look at social media, but people
have told me that social media has attacked the from
(02:26:24):
ber Valde situation, and hopefully it is something that will
not linger for this team. But the amount of major
league players that are now analysts that have come to
the defense of Caesar Salazar and not to fromn Burvaldez,
it certainly has hurt Fromber when it comes to his
(02:26:46):
national appeal. I don't know if one start or one
act would cost him a contract of any length in
terms of dollars or cents, but it is interesting there
is very little benefit of the doubt coming from the
farm ber Valdez side of things. Yeah, and you know,
I think for a good reason. I mean, you know,
watching it, it didn't look good, especially the way.
Speaker 12 (02:27:07):
You know Fromber just took the ball and turned around,
and he didn't seem to show you know much reborse
or put his hand up and say my bad. You know,
I'm not gonna sit here and say it was intentional.
Salsar didn't seem to think it was intentional, and the
spot has seemed to think you know, Salazar's explanation of
it was pretty plausible, but you definitely sense that that
(02:27:29):
he was frustrated. I mean, you maybe he threw the
pitch he wanted to pitch that Salzar didn't call, and
you know, Salzar clearly wasn't expecting it couldn't catch it,
and maybe he didn't expect to hit him.
Speaker 1 (02:27:40):
But whatever the case, you're right, it didn't look good.
Speaker 12 (02:27:43):
And you know, Fromberg, a couple of times this year
is you know, questioned, you know, the positioning, the defenders.
Speaker 1 (02:27:49):
The one game that ball hit the right field, it
was extra basies. He wondered what Tremuel was playing, where
he was playing, and.
Speaker 12 (02:27:56):
You know, there's been a couple of other things here,
and there were some of the things he says that
uh you know about you know, some of the other plays.
Speaker 1 (02:28:03):
Things he can't control, things like that. So uh, yeah,
it's gonna be uh interesting to see if he.
Speaker 12 (02:28:08):
Can get it together over here for his last you know,
three or four starts, because uh, like it or not,
he's your number two star on the playoffs and and
they need him to pitch like he did in the
playoffs in twenty twenty two for them to have a
shot behind a Hunter Brown.
Speaker 1 (02:28:20):
So uh with Fromber, you take the good and the bad.
Speaker 12 (02:28:23):
I mean, he was really good for three months and
they what thirteen starts in a row they won, and
now they they're struggling every time he's on the mound.
Speaker 1 (02:28:31):
So he's got to get it turned around. Uh that
was a little premiant pause because mctagger was so good.
I was speechless or we alls, our microphones weren't working
very well. So all right, you already play Believe It
or Not? What's the category? At least tell me it's
the Eagles filled Off the Bowl champs. Yeah, how about
the music group I know, one of the greatest bands
of all time. Okay, just Eagles filled off? Eagles up next,
(02:28:54):
Believe it or Not? Seven one three two one two
five seven Nunny? All right, tomorrow on the radio show,
we will have I'm Sorries, We'll have doctor Roto Jonathan.
We're gonna let you join Rossa myself. We're gonna make

our NFL predictions. They're gonna pick all the division winners,
the wild cards in both the NFC and the AFC.
We will make the Texans prediction on the season record,
and we'll have our two championship teams in our one
super Bowl team ten and seven, AFC South Champs Brian
ten and seven. Book it, and I will not back
(02:29:38):
away from my assessment many moons ago, which remains very
honest and true from years ago. As long as cal
mcnar's o one of the Texans, you will not be
going to the super Bowl. Never go to the super Bowl. Yep, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever.
The reality is this is it's not leaving mcnair' because
you know, Hannah's not not pulling that cord. She's got
the the strings they're taking. Yeah, she loves being the
(02:29:59):
on of the Texans, loves it. She's not the owner, Matt,
he's vice president of the Texans or what. She's the
owner of the team. Bale's just kind of innocent bystanders
out the way and then we am the owner. It
is not handled. Oh, he's got six kids, all right.
I think at least he has more than that. I
(02:30:20):
thought you'd like five with her, and like I think,
is that he's pulling like Calvin Murphy numbers. Well, but
I mean they're going to be fighting for that team eventually,
all the kids. Yeah, like a power Struggle. It's like
a succession show just about the Texans. Like which one
of the McNair kids the family number one or the
second family? It serves it, you know, handed to be
like my kids is more over your previous kid. Game
(02:30:40):
of Thrones gets over my head. So, I don't know,
Power Struggle. Succession is a great example. Okay, War of
the Roses, I don't know. That wasn't bad either. Succession
was better though, all Right, five minutes up to go
on the show. What should we do? We should play
