Speaker 1 (00:00):
Tato one at h Town.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Good morning, and welcome to a Friday edition of About
Thomas Show with Ross.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
This is Sports Talk seven ninety. If that doesn't get
you ready for the weekend, what possibly could?

Speaker 1 (00:15):
Some dude named Vegas is leading the PGA Championship. Swear
I'm rooted for this guy. I swear you hear this
material of this show. We should be beating Sonny. We
should be number one in the market. Let me ask
you all a question. Why do we have no listeners?
That's not wanting to say, hey, that's not true. We
appreciate actually our mini listeners. Actually it is so nice. Uh.

(00:37):
We we have have amazing listeners. Uh huh uh. Very
rarely do I go Do I not go somewhere worse?
And we're not on television like I mean, Adam Adams
should be much more well known than I mean, they
have the Damn's TV network. We don't have a TV network,
that's true. I don't even do the television for the Rockets.
I do the radio for the Rockets. So I'm a
face for radio since when it's been nine years. Thanks

(00:59):
for asking, But I was my daughter's volleyball event this
past weekend and Georgia. R Brian some great listeners came
up and said, hello, Yeah, they stumped your feet and
spin in your face. I thought, was it's not great? No,
I'm just kidding.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
Was it?

Speaker 3 (01:12):
Draymond Green? He could have been kicked in the nads?

Speaker 1 (01:14):
He could have been but yeah, we it's Please never
be afraid it comes say hi to us, because for
the most part of ours, I'm very friendly, Ross, not
very approachable. Matt will big time you. No, it's not
true that that is far from the truth. Matter of fact,
I might even buy you a beer or some day
you never know, all right, at the volleyball game, Well
no I can't.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
I'm good.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
You cannot bring coolers. I've told you that before. This
is a little igloo, playmate. Can I give you a
little advice? On six now, last week in June, I'm
going to be up in Dallas the National Championships, the
National Chip National Championship, Moms, that's that's gonna be. That's
about five to six downtown hotels. Ross, you can rotate, okay,
and we're talking high end hotels. All right, money here,

(01:55):
I'll start stretching out my hamstrings. Now, good for you.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
It isn't anything. It goes for Friday. What for all
the walking, Jonathan?

Speaker 1 (02:04):
What are you why? Don't shake your head? He said,
walking all the hotel? What were you thinking about? Jonathan?

Speaker 4 (02:10):
You know, I didn't know what miles we were running.
I don't know what was going on.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Can I tell you that would be a fantastic movie.
A couple of singles, you know, like what crash like
wedding crashers, but but older volleyball dadders crashers. What can
we name the movie? Two bros milf money going to
volleyball events looking for single ma or divorces at volleyball

(02:34):
events or at the bar at the hotel, because that's
what it's gonna be for a week in Dallas. ROSSI. Yeah,
they're trying to secure in ideal deals with the moms.
And you call it milf money. You know, you could
pretend you're a nil agent. You know, I saw your
daughter playing. She's really good, and we'd like to But
that has to be a redemption art because it's obviously
very bad behavior.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
Wasn't When I get the end of wedding crashers get.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Married, they'll become a coach and win the time ship
that's the Wait a second, I'm liking this idea. Yeah, Matt,
you get us a treatment within the next two weeks
and then we'll get there. Right now.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
What about just true love? What if?

Speaker 1 (03:10):
What if Monday you go to the Balladay Ben and
go find a girl there the what the Balladay Bin
is that in Bali, No, it's it's the it's the
it's a hotel chain. And then you go to the
Rariat on Tuesday, and then you go to the Rilton
on Wednesday, and then Thursday you go to the Embassy
meets and you meet that girl and that is the
one with the free happy all right and the breakfast too.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
Don't don't don't sit on that breakfast. I'll see it at
the movie.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
You cannot. I mean, you're gonna be able. You're gonna
probably find like some Baytown love there if you want that. Hey,
Bytown girls and you love too, but they have teeth,
so some of them teeth necessary, I guess they are. Yeah,
for a first date, you can bring them some crests.
You're bringing toothpaste of a date. Okay, that feels not

(03:59):
the sexiest thing you can do, but it goes Friday.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
You know what I mean, we can't.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
It's not like we can do a full an a
little go breakdown of what happened in the last night.
How in the hell are we going to talk four
hours about a one nothing game that lasted two hours.
You cannot talk about a sporting event that last that
lasted lost than their show. It was two hours in
one minute, great post game show. How are your calls
on the old ten Tony Well?

Speaker 3 (04:27):
I pulled it old Matt Thomas trick.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
Eric in Bay City was the only one on hold,
and I didn't want to talk to him, so I
just said, anybody who calls in can get ahead of him.
And for those of you who don't know, Eric in
Bay City is a top five worst caller because all
he calls about is a Zach grinky. Now, he may
have a screw loose, and that's fine. We can all
have screw loose. Yeah, screws loose. But he it's just
it was funny once and then it's a stupid now. Yeah,

(04:49):
but at least he's somewhat nice, like for example, Alex
and garden Oaks calls Joe spotty idiot. He's very rude
and arrogant about it. Alex and Eric knows he's the psychopath.
We believe that ninety percent of you you are amazing
human people, yes, nine, but there's ten of you that
are percent of you that are whack jobs. Yeah, terrible calls,
terrible takes. You're not watching the same game or watching

(05:11):
and you bring up stupid stuff that is not relevant
and you bring the show down. Yeah, it's our job
to love on the ninety percent of you, to do
a great job and add things to this show and
rip the crap out of the ten percent that bring
the show down. Yeah. Like a guy was I put
a post when I went to the Negro League Museum
in Kansas City, and this guy found my Instagram and
started post which just woke the ass stuff over here

(05:34):
with the Negro League Museum.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
Like, brother, that you sounded, That's how it sounded. That's
how I read it.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Okay, it's like this guy's a jackass.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
Shut your bomb ass up, stop.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
Ruining it for everyone. I don't want to block them
because I'm trying to build the followers up. How is
that list going, by the way, or we're approaching seven hundred,
seven hundred, trying to get over one thousand? Why don't
you just accept every bod and you'll be at the
three thousand before you know? Trying at sports RV on Instagram?
I mean I think the proof's in the pudding. I mean,
what does that mean? I've hardly posted on there? Well,

(06:06):
then then why would we want to go look at
your stuff?

Speaker 3 (06:08):
I'm trying to post more.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
I like social medium. I'm trying right because then you
get you know, I don't like social media because of
that guy.

Speaker 5 (06:18):
Look at it?

Speaker 1 (06:19):
Woke D.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
Yeah, whow would you go there?

Speaker 1 (06:23):
I don't know to educate myself. Why don't you learn
a little something? Jack asked, say up, do that voice
one more time? Hey, why are you posting his own
your Instagram is woke D? You know who that is?
That's that's the character in Ozark.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
I can't do it anymore though, because my throat is
a rude and we got four more hours of the show. Yeah,
I'm gonna coll at that guy right there, whatever I
forgot his saying. That's the guy in Ozark that was
raising the heroin Farms who got killed by his wife.
Sorry to miss Sporter, but it's been three or four
years all come on, man?

Speaker 3 (06:58):
Oh stop on episode three. You are not that's a lie,
I am.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
I just I haven't picked up an episode like four years. Yeah,
you've been an episode three for five years.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
Well I did.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
I thought it was good, but I don't know. So
I just watched too much sports. Yeah, I've picked I
told you, I picked up on the file. I'm not
gonna do this is literally I'm sorry, I don't know.
Here is real quick. I have one episode in on
the final season of You, and I'm gonna do the
second episode tonight. Okay, don't do it, don't don't hang
I'm not going and costello on you.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
It makes me laugh. I don't care if it makes
anyone else laugh.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
It makes me. I have firm feelings that there is
no one else laughing about it. That's not true. It's
gotta be one person. It's fine, all right. Uh so
here's the radio show today. We're gonna have to manufacture
some astros conversation because yesterday the astros didn't manufacture any runs.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
No, well, that's true, but we can talk about that.
We can talk about the fact that they didn't get
hey hits. They're zero for three with runners in scoring position.
Jake de Gram is a dude.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
And Hunter Brown recording his first out in an eighth
inning in his career, which is the final step to
him becoming a full fledged ace. And he will be
your opening day starter for the Astros in twenty twenty six.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
That's a given unless he gets elbowed discomfort or something.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
No, but I mean the Fromber. I even though Fromber
was two starts ago was good, he's great now he
will be somebody else's great next year. He's gone. He's
he's got as much chance of staying with the Astros
as Kyle Tucker did. He's got as much as chance
as you do have him in the twenty six Man
of Me next year. Well, that's nice to say that.

(08:35):
Here's the question, knowing what you know about Dana moving
to Kyle Tucker year before it was time, do the
Astros kick the tires on moving Fromber at the deadline?
I don't think you do it because you do want
to win. It is an utterly winnable division. I don't
think there's gonna be much separation between the top three teams,

(08:55):
whether it's Seattle, Houston, Texas or whatever combination it is.
So I would be more than okay with keeping fromber
the rest the way to giving this this current collection
of guys one more chance. So I would be against
moving Fromer. But if things get a little surly five six,
seven games back, knowing it's only going to be a

(09:17):
one team, one playoff team in the division, maybe you
then would explore maybe moving from before the deadline to
get something back in return, because I guarantee you fromber
Valdez at the deadline would get you a pretty significant haul,
even though it's a two month thing. Okay, we will
mull that over on the show, not necessarily today, but
just think, just think about that down the road, something
to monitor, keep an eye on.

Speaker 3 (09:39):
You're monitoring the situation.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
Yeah, eleven thirty today, we're going to ask you to
say you're sorry. Okay, I'm I am mulling over whether
I are you to actually apologize for something you actually did.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
I'm mulling in your non apology.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
I'm mulling over something I did in the park light
here at the office yesterday, whether I should say I'm sorry,
you need to apologize. We got a memo about that
security guard had to come knock on your door.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
You can't do that in the parking lot. Okay, get
do that at home.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
We will wake the strippers up at twelve noon today
and today's edition of Helly Air Now we got non
floora stories at one thirty. By the way, today's edition
of Helly Are or Not all things about Jaws. Fifty
years ago today, Jaws one came out. Okay, I will
I'm going to need a bigger boat. I will credit
Jaws for the reason why I don't like scary movies. Really,

(10:37):
because I sold my pants at the age of three
multiple times watching Jaws. I didn't see it when it
was the movies. I obviously saw it on mini disk
or whatever, the laser disc, whatever it was. But man,
scare the crap out of me. Jaws three D scraped
the caras crap out. He was terrifying. So thank you
Jaws for allowing me to be scared of movies for

(10:58):
fifty five fifty years later. Well, for me, it's it
in clowns. You know, are you really heard of that?
Terrified of clowns? I just don't want to It's not
that bad though, It's not really that scary. Oh, I
didn't even watch it because see, when I was a kid,
the the original it was a like a mini series
on TV, and it scared the crap out of me.
So that was creepy. I was yeah, I was probably
like eight years old and real fast. We got one

(11:20):
second here and wait my scariest movies of all time.
The reason why I don't like scary movies, I've got
just a very few of them I've seen. Uh huh.
So the reason why I don't like them is, I'll
give you the list of what coming back, Okay, alight.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
I have a very briefless it's mute, it's it, and
one more.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
But you like you like scary movies in general from
the nineties, I think most of them aren't good. Like Jump, Scare,
The Ring, the Grudge type of movies. I don't like those, Okay,
Fairhoe like real true horror films like I don't know
they're shining. It's good stuff. Never saw the scene I've
seen with Shelley Duball and with Jat Nicholson. Here's Johnny

(11:55):
seven one three two one two five seven, ninety seven
one three two one two five seven nine of years
Astros drop a one nothing game with the Rangers. Rangers
have a one nothing lead in the potential tiebreaker if
the Astros and Rangers, All right, real quick, it's anything
goes Friday. And by the way, you want to we
explained the essence of anything goes Friday Ross's seven one
three two one two five seven nine zero seven one

(12:15):
three two one two five seven ninety.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
Sorry say that again?

Speaker 1 (12:21):
What were you doing?

Speaker 3 (12:22):
You really want me to tell you?

Speaker 1 (12:23):
I was responding to this guy on Instagram, But I'm
writing a I'm writing a dissertation at this point. Oh okay.
I asked if you could explain what the essence of
anything Goes Friday is? All zoning out on Matt is
the essence of anything goes Friday? Anything you want to
talk about seven one three two one two five seven ninety,
phone lines are wide open. If you want to talk
about the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow, Matt Thomas is

(12:47):
all in. He wants to hear about it. Oh, we
got Columbia versus Wake Forest tennis. That's actually happening. Anything
you want, well, if you want to break down Columbia
versus Wake Forest tennis, Matt Thomas is ready and available
screens on this.

Speaker 3 (12:59):
Yeah, they're not men thing around. Huh uh.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
Matt Thomas is ready and available to take your phone
calls about that if you want to ask when will
Christian Walker get another hit? As Oh geez, he's on
quite the poor Has he had a hit since I
talked to him Monday? I'm not going to answer that.
But McTaggart went first, and then I waited. By way,

(13:22):
this was a little etiquette. If you see a print
reporter talking, and for that matter, anybody reporter talking to
an athlete, you have to wait your turn.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
Yeah, I did some people.

Speaker 1 (13:30):
Some people don't do it, taking all this credit like
you were chasing down Christian Walker.

Speaker 3 (13:33):
I didn't know. You just piggybacked off of Brian Taggart.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
Christian Walker was only guy in the clubhouse, so I.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
Was supposed to do. I didn't know. You're just basking
his wake.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
Excuse me, by the way, uh, real fast, before I
go to my movies, that scare me, that made me
not want to watch Scarecase.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
Anything goes Friday, c JA.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
People are asking why the Little D did not make
the opening sound by you said it for a future
week or maybe.

Speaker 3 (13:57):
He didn't get it.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (13:57):
It's at the end of the day yesterday a Little
D clip yeah, yeah, gotta say the man. Oh he's
saying I had, I had, I had to be exact.

Speaker 4 (14:05):
I had twenty clips to all.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
Good, keep them going just in case some off time.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
Oh for sixteen, Christian Walker is banging average two oh three,
slugging to seventy four ops altogether will give member seven elite. Yeah,
ops of six ten. Six ten is a horrible number.

(14:30):
Six ten socks as a number, it's not good.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
Seven nineties a little better.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
I would take a seven ninety at this point, I
would take a seven forty. Yeah, I'd take a nine
to nine point one. Miles Prower off the bat exit
average exit v low. By the way, Ross, what's his XBA?
You want to give us that and make us feel
better about ourselves? Yeah? Absolutely, Just like I told you,
some people were saying that I'm making a judgment that

(14:56):
Jeremy Peney was just mid But if you looked at
his XBAS you could tell that he he was gonna
have a good season. And so far as XBA has
done that, so good. I think it can be a
helpful tool for something good. But as far as Christian Walker,
I'll have to pull up his don't do it my
WiFi is that's fine, all right? Struggling? So movies that
scared me? All the Jaws has scared me. Oh, his
xba's two twenty one. That means he's not he's just

(15:20):
having bad luck. This is not good. He's just hitting
it outs. Let's see what's worse from last year XBA
worse launch angle, worse average exit velocity, worse barrel percentage,
way worse. Don't why are the Astros having a difficult

(15:44):
time filling first base? Let's look at the old bat speed. Oh,
it's down, like down considerably or down a tinge. So
seventy five miles an hour is considered a fast swing.
That's been his average the last two years. This year
seventy three point eight, so down a mile one point
two miles per hour.

Speaker 3 (16:03):
That doesn't feel significant? Is that he kind of is?
Is it on an average? It's not good?

Speaker 1 (16:09):
Yeah, I mean it doesn't mean he should be this bad.
And you have to ask yourself about the oblique injury?
Is he one hundred percent? Does he need some time off?
What's going on with that? He does like to play
every day, He's the first one to tell you that does.
But that time he got the day off, he came
back and he was getting hits. Yeah, okay, back to
my scary movies really quick. All the Jaws movies scared
the crap out of me. Uh huh, Halloween, Oh my god? Uh,

(16:33):
silence of the lambs terrifying.

Speaker 3 (16:35):
Hello, Cladies, weren't you like twenty when they came out? Wait? Halloween?

Speaker 4 (16:39):
Fun fact, Western Kentucky on Bowling Green is where they
filmed it. And really those neighborhoods are like eerily creepy, Like, Matt,
you'd be scared like to death, thank you?

Speaker 1 (16:49):
And are you ready for this? In a non scary movie,
but a scary scene. When I was a super young child,
when the uh in the Wizard of Oz, when Margaret
Hamilton turn got on the bike and turned into a witch,
I was scared so much I would run into my
bedroom or my bathroom and shut the door and scream
because I hated when the witch turned into the witch.

(17:11):
Why do you think you felt that way, Matt? Because
Margaret Hamilton was the wicked witch of the West East
or whatever she was. And how does that make you
feel now when you think about it.

Speaker 3 (17:19):
I'm scared of her right now.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
I don't know there's part of me that doesn't watch
The Wizard of oz the first fifteen minutes because of that.
I think you need to address and confront some of
these feelings you've been harboring for all these years. I'm
okay with that. Yeah, sure, what we're going lunch? What
about the flying monkeys? They didn't bother me?

Speaker 3 (17:34):
Oh really, I feel like a lot of people got
scared by the flying monkeys.

Speaker 1 (17:37):
I don't disagree. Uh, And then what happened? How do
you get rid of the witch?

Speaker 3 (17:40):
You pour water? Runners?

Speaker 1 (17:41):
That what it was? Yeah, it seemed pretty simple. So
the of the worlds, you're telling me a bottle of
ozark and can fix all that? And that's what I'm saying.
War are the worlds the aliens came from, Like they
can time travel and manipulate space time, and they came
from billions of miles away, and then you give them
a little aquafina and they start freaking out. I get
another one. King Kong scared me when he when King

(18:01):
Kong would take people and grab them and then throw them.
That was scared made a scare of giant gorillas. Correct, Okay,
basically my wors That's fine. Matt I don't like I
don't like violence. Yeah, I love love and tend moving comedy.
You make drama and I do like dro I live
in drama. Seven one three two one two five seven

(18:22):
hoy on of the Astros, do we need a lineup change?

Speaker 3 (18:26):
I think it's man.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
I think we're Christian Walker, but for who I think
we're the last ones to bring this up? Lineup change
talk is next seven? What I mean, it's not that
big of a deal. Wherever you put people that got
to hit what we get. I'm sorry, I don't I'm
spoiling it. You try to set things up and I'm
just peeing all over it. Hmm okay. Ten twenty eight

(18:47):
on Anything Goes Friday? Seven one three two one two
five seven ninety is it?

Speaker 3 (18:54):
Anything Goes Friday?

Speaker 1 (18:55):
Here? On the radio program we call the Matt Thomas
should ross a reminder. In one hour from now, you
are to call and apologize for the things you've done
and said and they were wrong. The question is do
I bring up what happened in the office garage yesterday? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (19:10):
You should apologize.

Speaker 1 (19:11):
Okay, everybody's heard about that. We're all all right, what
do I do?

Speaker 5 (19:15):
Then?

Speaker 1 (19:16):
You know, you're setting it for eleven thirty. It's a
forward tease. So I love you. So you're such a professional.
As many words I would use to describe myself, I'm
not sure if that's one yes, seven one three two
one two five seven ninety seven one three two one
two five seven ninety Do we change the astros lineup?
And at what point? Who goes where? And who's in

(19:38):
the test of thing?

Speaker 3 (19:39):
Look?

Speaker 1 (19:41):
Hey, yeah, get Christian Walker out of the cleanup spot.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
He's terrible, all right?

Speaker 1 (19:45):
For who Daz can't hit Kartin He's not the lineup
every day, Sach Zenzo's okay, I guess if you want
to do that. Jake Myers, sure, why not? Mary Dumont.
This is everybody after Christian Walker, Victor Kartini, Zenzo, Jake Myers,
Maurice U Dubon. Sometimes it's Brendan Rodgers or Cam Smith
in there? What are we doing? Who are we putting

(20:07):
in there?

Speaker 3 (20:08):
You tell me.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
I got a revelation for you about the Astros in
twenty twenty five. I'll tell you after we talked to Roder,
Because I just feel like we're gonna say something that
we're all afraid to say.

Speaker 3 (20:18):
Roger on seven ninety good morning.

Speaker 6 (20:22):
Yeah, I think you. I think you're onest something there
than Matt. I don't want to believe my Astros are
just not good enough. Their pitching is definitely good enough.
I just don't think they put enough pieces on the
field this year. And uh, you know, Walker hits the
ball hard. I just think he's batting in the wrong spot.
That's too much of a get too much of a

(20:43):
strike out rate of being a fool. I think I
don't know if you took off people around. I mean,
you know, pious driving in the leadoff spot. Our TV
rates hasn't drived in the second spot. I don't even
know how to fix this thing. It's just oh franky.
I don't I don't know what's going on with these guys.
I just maybe, I mean, I don't want to get

(21:05):
the desperation that maybe you can just also line up
for you guys. I'm not sure who how I didn't
know it's not working out.

Speaker 3 (21:14):
Yeah, thank you for the phone call, Roger, appreciate it.
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (21:19):
To balance your point, Ross and to basically back it up.
This is the Astros offense this year. It's just gonna
it's just gonna be I mean, when you have thirty teams,
you've got ten that can really hit, you got ten
that are mad, and you've got ten that are lousy.
And the Astros are gonna have a lousy offense this
year unless they make a significant trade at the deadline,
which I don't know if they're going to do. This team,

(21:41):
the sample size is big enough for me to say
they just can't hit. I I I all of a sudden,
I don't believe the Dubond's gonna get a slugging of
ops of eighteen hundred uh. Yan Air Diez can get
in some hot spells. Christian Walker can get in some
hot spells. But man, we're talking at reaching up where
how many games are we at now? Close to fifty

(22:03):
uh forty five I think, or forty four, forty three. Yeah,
they're twenty two and twenty one. I mean, we got
a pretty decent sample size, now the complete sample size
on a halfway, but we haven't good enough.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
This is worth the quarter poll of the season. This
is who they are.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
We're gonna be watching a team that's gonna have to
rely on really good relief corps, hopefully good enough starting
pitching with enough candidates out there and somebody to maybe
you know, you know, these games, like the Astros won
the game two to one a couple nights back with
Jeremy Panna and and eatsek prete Is hitting the home runs.

(22:38):
Then they made you can No, you can win some
two one games. You'd like to be able to go
to the Arsenal and go to a nine to three
game once in a while, but that may not just
be the twenty twenty five Astros.

Speaker 3 (22:47):
They just can't hit collectively.

Speaker 1 (22:49):
Uh do you see the team ops going up forty
points in the next fifty games. I don't see it.
I think Jordone can come back and be healthy and
be good. I think I still believe Christian Walker is
not going to hit like this the rest of this season.

Speaker 3 (23:02):
I would hope.

Speaker 1 (23:02):
The counter argument to this is that Jeremy Panya will
cool off at some point. Dude's hitting four hundred for
like thirty games. That's and Jake Myers unfortunately will cool
off his way. I'm sorry, right, I know I don't
know that, but we don't have to say it out loud.
That's rude, that's true, Yeah, exactly, And I was gonna
bring him up. Jake Myers isn't always going to hit
like this uh and Jeremy Pania, but those are the
two guys that are really hitting over their head relative

(23:24):
to their careers. Everybody else is basically under well. East
I Paratus, I should say, is probably ahead, but he can.

Speaker 3 (23:30):
I think he can.

Speaker 1 (23:31):
Still ops eight hundred, jose L two, He's got to
wake up at some point. Christian Walker will wake up
at some point. The Ordon's gonna come back and be
healthy once he can finally swing a bat. I think
you on your das isn't going to improve. I think
they are going to be a team. And with all
that that I just said, by the way, they are
sixteenth and team ops. They are below, of course below

(23:54):
average right now in terms of ops plus averages one hundred, they're.

Speaker 3 (23:57):
At ninety eight.

Speaker 1 (23:58):
They can get above ava, I believe. But see, I
think that's where the numbers just don't match the storyline.
And I think if they yeah, because we're also there's
so many bad teams and our expectation level is so high,
like they're way better offensively than the Rockies, Pirates, White Sox, Angels,
those types of teams. We want them to be dodged

(24:20):
because that's what we're used to. We're used to the
company that they keep being the Dodgers and the Yankees
and the Cubs or whoever Red Sox, and right now
the company that they're keeping is like the Guardians and Rays.
So it does feel like it feels like an even
bigger drop off because of relative to what we're used to,
where they're they're contending for basically top five offense every

(24:41):
single year. And meanwhile, as I say these things, I'm
telling you that even with this team being a bottom
third offensive team, you can still win the division.

Speaker 3 (24:52):
You should win the division.

Speaker 1 (24:54):
And again, I'm not trying to say that this is
gonna be a tough summer to watch. It's gonna be
a different summer to watch. It may be significantly more
frustrating than in years past. Clearly when you don't feel
like you can, you can when you when you have
the heart of the order. Going back even three years
or two years with Alvarez, the good Jose Altuve in

(25:15):
terms of his ops being in the nine hundreds, having
Kyle Tucker, having Alex Spragman, I mean you walked into
five runs a game. It felt like a lot of Knights.
That won't be the case in twenty twenty five unless
something is done via trade and acquisition, or as you
mentioned earlier, somebody starts to get super hot. I keep

(25:35):
waiting for that. I think the Astros are waiting for it.
And the Astros, I think, are blessed that the starting
pitching has been good. I think they have been blessed
that the relief pitching has been amazing, has been incredible.
I think the defense has helped this team out significantly.
Jake says, hello, so he made a great grab last night.
As a matter of fact, Peanya with a grab out
in short, shallow center field yesterday was amazing. So, as

(26:00):
I say, this Astro offense is who they are and
they're gonna be that way. My prediction hold, I'm wrong.
It doesn't mean you can't win eighty six games, and
it doesn't mean you can't beat up a rather pedestrian
America League West. And that's what we're finding ourselves in
right now. Yeah, the Astros in you know, seventeen nineteen
eighteen around then, you know they they won with one
of the best offenses in baseball. But in twenty twenty

(26:22):
two they won the World Series on the backs of
their pitching. Now they also had a really good lineup
and performing better than they are now. But you there
is a formula, especially just to win the division and
then get into the playoffs and have Hunter Brown from
bra as a one two. We'll see what happens with
Spencer Arraghetty when he comes back. Were now Blanco's been

(26:43):
pretty good n now stay three right now, He's been
stabilizing for sure. So yeah, if you get into the
playoffs and the rotation shortens, and you get enough from
your guys offensively and your pitching is dominant, dominant, that
would be the formula.

Speaker 3 (26:56):
To make another World Series. It can happen, but you can't.

Speaker 1 (27:00):
They have to hit better than they are now, and
I still do believe that they will.

Speaker 3 (27:05):
It's getting harder and harder to say it's early.

Speaker 1 (27:07):
We're into what May sixteenth now today yesterday.

Speaker 3 (27:10):
For me was the end of its early.

Speaker 1 (27:12):
It's I think's who they are and like I said,
this could this take of mine could be changed in
seven to ten days. They start getting six runs per game.
But they had to come back twice against the Kansas
City team that struggled offensively. Thank god they did it.
You mentioned the Rangers yesterday aren't stroking it like they
have in years past. It was a one nothing game yesterday.
You I mean poor Hunter Brown, I mean just dealing

(27:33):
all night long again. And de Gram was good too,
with a little d and he was fantastic. Yes, tem ops.
Right now they are sixteenth out of thirty. It doesn't
feel that way, doesn't not to me. It doesn't. No,
I understand, And like I said, I think a lot
of that has been because some of the run production
has been hidden by the bad starts from Ryan Gusto

(27:55):
and Lanson Collors Junior. They scored nine and five runs
in those games, but they lost early, and so we
kind of forget and erase at. I mean, the counter
argument could be that, oh, the other pitchers weren't trying
because they had such a big lead. But we'll see,
right Lance mccullar's junior will start tonight. It is a
non televised game. Well the radio, you know where to
find a sports Talk seven ninety three on the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 3 (28:17):
Make us your number one preset. Please you sell like
a terrible pitch man. Thank you, Matt? Do I do that?

Speaker 1 (28:27):
Do I all of a sudden. Just go into this
game show voice when I'm promoting a non televised game. No,
I'm here, I am. I'm just matter of fact Thomas.
I'm not like you met matter of fact Thomas. You're
an American's pitchman, all right, I mean I pitched like
a mon up. But yeah, just again, there's no TV
of the game. You're a whore. I'll take that personally.

(28:49):
Seven one three two one two five seven ninety seven
one three two one two five seven nine zero. Did
you see the story the podcast that showed up about
an astro legend, the greatest of them all that may
not have never been the greatest of them all? For
the astros, we'll discuss that you were gonna trade away

(29:10):
Jeff Bagwell, nope, we're gonna trade it. We could have
traded away the world's worst space runner. How about that?
But everything else awesome. It's a Gordy Friday drop in.
You could uh, we used to say drive by, but

(29:32):
I think the drive by has a negative connotation to it.
Don't you think when you hear drive by, what's the
next word that typically comes out of your mouth?

Speaker 3 (29:38):
Sonic? No, I think shooting, oh oh? Drive in drive
by it.

Speaker 1 (29:45):
When you say drive by, I think of the movie
Minace to Society, good movie.

Speaker 3 (29:50):
Or Boys in the Hood. Yeah, I think of the
movie Misses Doubt five.

Speaker 1 (29:53):
It was a run drive by fruiting, a run by fruiting.
Good movie. Pierce Brosnan, how's he doing these days? He's
in some new series new Okay, he's like a boss
or something.

Speaker 3 (30:07):
Right, Yeah, he's like an Irish my boss. Good for him.

Speaker 1 (30:11):
Does he have an iHeartMedia podcast yet? Probably soon? Did
you see who's got one now for us? Sarah Jessica Parker?
Oh god, we get her on horse face? Hey, it's
a pretty horse. All the horses, Cormack McCarthy, she face

(30:33):
does the little horse?

Speaker 3 (30:34):
Okay? John, John than get out. You didn't ask your opinion.
What's her name? Kristen Stewart? Is that the one on
the Oh?

Speaker 1 (30:41):
I don't know.

Speaker 7 (30:42):
She's the pretty she has? She has an I heart
podcast too? You mean the one from Samantha.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
Was it Samantha?

Speaker 1 (30:49):
No, no, no, no, no, benevolent corporate master Samantha was
Kim Cattrell. Yeah, it's the dark haired one.

Speaker 7 (30:59):
Yeah, alright, can we talk base walk? Yeah, here's the
highlight let's let's play all the astros highlights.

Speaker 3 (31:06):
From last night.

Speaker 1 (31:07):
We actually have a lot of them, but continue on. Yeah,
Jeremy Pania and and Jake Myers making plays in the field.

Speaker 3 (31:11):
How you doing free gamers? Damn And I'm off today.
Who that Astro's rewind segment gonna be very quick, very
quick game rewind.

Speaker 1 (31:19):
No, no, no, no. Behind the scenes are highlight man, Josh,
He gives us twenty four highlights of actually.

Speaker 3 (31:25):
For partis made this defensive grab.

Speaker 1 (31:27):
Yeah, but you get ten minutes with Brian McTaggart. It's
breeze and by the way, they start at seven oh five,
so you knock off five minutes.

Speaker 3 (31:33):
Dan's gonna be fine. And in the six Jake Myers
worked this walk.

Speaker 1 (31:37):
Yeah, Jake Myers got robbed of a hit by Evan Cotta.
He did so Gordy all out of the talk has
been Christian Walker batting forth move him down.

Speaker 3 (31:47):
But then if you move him down.

Speaker 1 (31:48):
It's for who I mean? I said that last segment
you were busy doing. I said this this, This is
the Astro's offense in twenty twenty five.

Speaker 3 (31:56):
I don't think we're all gonna change thing.

Speaker 7 (31:58):
I believe when you're not gets back, Yeah, hopefully gets
guy was a great when he because his hands hurting,
but a hand now he's fine.

Speaker 1 (32:08):
Ash just kind of just ruined exactly headed.

Speaker 3 (32:10):
He just missed ten twelve games.

Speaker 1 (32:11):
He's fine.

Speaker 7 (32:12):
But sending Walker out there every every day in the
in the four time off, that's like the a brave thing.
When they kept put him in the four or five,
it's like, no, stop, like it's not doing anything.

Speaker 1 (32:22):
Oh, people were like, oh, yay, had ninety RBIs. Yeah,
he met fourth for one hundred and sixty two games.
He better have that many he can.

Speaker 7 (32:29):
And Walker continues to come up, like how many times
guys who were watching game and there's two men all
with one out and Christian Walker, nothing's gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (32:38):
Product, your little dry bys was supposed to be light
and airy. You're just you'd make us to further depressed.
This is stat given to me by producer Josh c
last night. Forty one abs for Christian Walker with runners
in scoring position, twenty strikeouts. That's not so he doesn't
even move the runners over.

Speaker 3 (32:55):
Oh lord, how's your bunting. Let's work on some bunting.

Speaker 1 (32:59):
No, let's get in hitting, swinging, the bat or maybe
his oblique is still not I don't know.

Speaker 3 (33:04):
If they keep hitting like this thing, you can't go
to the.

Speaker 1 (33:06):
Blee car when the previous three or four games for
that he was crushing the ball, right.

Speaker 3 (33:09):
That's true.

Speaker 1 (33:10):
Well, maybe it's a maybe it's a fluid situation, Matt.
You know, sometimes you wake up, your back hurts, and
sometimes it's feeling good.

Speaker 7 (33:15):
If they continue to not hit, though, I'm gonna go.
I'm going team bunt. Some guys, shut up, we're getting
worse base hit them over.

Speaker 1 (33:23):
There's a reason bunting has gotten a race out of
the games because we have the numbers. It doesn't work
because we don't. We lack the fundamental all right. That's
why that's why college baseball sucks. When you see the
cleanup ter with runners in second and third and nobody
out bunting, nobody does.

Speaker 3 (33:36):
They don't do it as much anymore.

Speaker 7 (33:41):
Now he's gone, He's yeah, right, Cal State Fullerton, like
those are the teams that do it.

Speaker 1 (33:47):
How about speaking of which SEC champion? You know, SEC
baseball toughest in the land. Oh, nobody can beat SEC baseball.

Speaker 7 (33:54):
SEC champions and SEC coach from the ages who were
kicking ass.

Speaker 3 (33:58):
Very nice, he's going steel. You get called up to
the big leagues.

Speaker 1 (34:02):
Maybe most college World Series appearances, six championships, looking good
in a world class douche according to some, according to
probably most of America.

Speaker 3 (34:12):
I don't know. It seems like a nice guy to me.

Speaker 7 (34:14):
I will say, though, Texas are their their toughest road trip.
They finally got a tough road trip in baseball and
went to Arkansas two weeks ago and got sweat. Well,
that's all right, they took care of they w l
s U. Sorry, well they played him in Austin. I
have seen that game in battle.

Speaker 3 (34:27):
I'm sorry that the bats don't work.

Speaker 1 (34:29):
It so funny.

Speaker 7 (34:32):
The SEC office is cowtown to Texas in baseball with
a schedule and football the soft schedule.

Speaker 3 (34:39):
Yeah, they said, let the big dogs eat.

Speaker 1 (34:40):
Maybe they you how to run a college program.

Speaker 3 (34:44):
Up the rowing team out with a busy schedule.

Speaker 1 (34:47):
Nobody wants to see these backwoods Louisiana people on fan boats.

Speaker 3 (34:51):
And some real sports.

Speaker 1 (34:52):
You know.

Speaker 3 (34:52):
It's all sickle cool.

Speaker 7 (34:53):
Though, one day Texas will have to play a tough
schedule in a sport and they're gonna get their ass.

Speaker 1 (34:57):
Beats, and we see SEC champs. A getting this your
football schedules tough this year?

Speaker 3 (35:01):
No, because they come to the same schedule you played
last year.

Speaker 1 (35:05):
You play played Georgia. Okay, one there play Uh that
probably LSU is probably a gimme.

Speaker 3 (35:11):
I can't remember. They go out Ohio State.

Speaker 1 (35:14):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (35:14):
You got to go out of the conference and actually
find a good opponents. Texas avoids Alabama tenn L. When's
the last time they were relevant? Like they said, let's
give Oklahoma all the tough teams in the conference. Lis,
you needs to focus on beating the Aggies first. They
can't even do that. Aggies are good, They're not.

Speaker 1 (35:34):
Where's the SEC media day this year, Atlanta? Are you going? Yeah?
You are here? Are you going for yourself or you're
going for the station?

Speaker 3 (35:43):
We do a little bit.

Speaker 1 (35:45):
Yeah, they ask you when you're flying up business or pleasure?

Speaker 3 (35:48):
He says both. We are the flagship for the Longhorn. Yes,
a Longhorn. Maybe I'll go with you.

Speaker 1 (35:53):
You know what, how about all three of us.

Speaker 3 (35:55):
Go all right, and we need to Crawford box cast.
By the way, we will just clip this.

Speaker 7 (36:00):
But uh, you wan get you some like a South
Carolina wide receiver you want, like, you know, the Big
twelve Meets is going to be at the in Frisco
this year.

Speaker 1 (36:06):
They're not going to Vegas. And I was looking like
the first day, you know, they split the league in
half half the coach is one day half the next time,
I was like the first day, there isn't a single
coach or a player that our station would be any
we're close to being interested in. It's like Arizona, Arizona State,
Utah and Kansas Alley.

Speaker 7 (36:22):
It's not gonna work. Kenny Dollingham, good interview and him
on it, the Bear, Brian Orts. Okay, well name drop there.
That's fine, thank you. All right, let's see what else
we got.

Speaker 1 (36:32):
Uh, we're gonna talk about this podcast because you raw,
because Gordy's a big podcast guy. Huge. Eric Hosmer former
Kansasity Royal. Yes, apparently Dayton Moore, the general manager, got
a phone call and this is when he was a
general manager of the Kandasy Royals, got a phone call
from Jeff Leno and said, Hey, would you like to
trade would like Eric Hosman to be a Houston astro

(36:54):
and would you like hose L two B be a
Kandasy royal date.

Speaker 7 (36:57):
Moore said, no, that's that's not the craziest thing though.
In twenty thirteen, we didn't know how two was. First
of all, when you have the story is goofy, that
is so far away. Second of all, you didn't know
who helseeo Tuve was in twenty twenty thirteen. Nice player, yeah,
but remember remember twenty thirteen jillsal Tuve never drew walks,
swung at everything, swung in everything. Yeah, uh bat the

(37:19):
hits were good, but he wasn't the prolific to hit
that he was saying during the heart of.

Speaker 1 (37:22):
The Champions body was for sale. And I just I
find it to be frankly a non story. It's just
kind of a goofy anecdotal thing. But I to say
that the Jeff Leno didn't have a keen eye for
the Astros in twenty thirteen. He was trying to figure
out what the hell he had. I think it does
highlight how just inexact science being a general manager is
to where you never know what's going to happen and
how players are going to grow and get better, and

(37:44):
we can see it year by year with Al two V.
I mean if Jeremy Paine is his breakout is is real?
You know, he he felt very tradable of this offseason
into last year as well. If he continues this up
and players continue and grow and blossom.

Speaker 7 (37:56):
Flippant flippan what if we what if this trade never
happens and we hear fully don't on a podcast going
you know, years ago, the Dodgers called me and they
wanted Josh Fields and they were gonna give us this
guy named going on Alvarez, and.

Speaker 3 (38:07):
I said, no, who do you want the Cuban outfielder for?

Speaker 1 (38:10):
You know?

Speaker 7 (38:10):
And so and now he's won multiple World Series for
the Dodgers and we could have had him.

Speaker 3 (38:14):
You know, I think that's I.

Speaker 1 (38:15):
Think every general manager could go on a podcast or
radio show and go over twenty trades that are made
or not made. I you just don't want the ugly
ones that come out puff.

Speaker 7 (38:24):
Daryl Morey could do two hours on the trades that
never work for the Rockets, okay, and Chris Bosh the
Rockets gonna have his own series, got him an iPad?

Speaker 1 (38:34):
All right, So what are you doing this weekend?

Speaker 7 (38:37):
We're going to a comedy show tonight and then uh
be watching the watching the Astros and joined some ice
cool cruft.

Speaker 3 (38:43):
What do they have in the Global Life Field Park Cordy.

Speaker 7 (38:46):
They actually have Carbot beers over I don't think they
have the Crawford Bock there because that's, you know, the
Astros beer.

Speaker 3 (38:52):
They can't serve that at Mimic just rip it off
like they Doah, Mimic made park over there in Arlington,
but uh no.

Speaker 7 (38:58):
And then this Sunday we'll be doing a watch party
over at at Carbock Burring out there in the Beer Garden,
Official Astros watch party with plenty of fun, family fun
out there and have beer specialist Believer there doing the
five dollars Crawford Box again.

Speaker 3 (39:13):
And it's an early game.

Speaker 7 (39:14):
It's a noon game on Sunday, it's a Roku game,
So I'll be out there to eleven doing the pregame show,
getting your guys set coming out there. They get the
new pizza and pints out there at car Box. You
can get a pizza, you can get a brew and
enjoy watching the Houston Astros with your family and have
a little bit of fun.

Speaker 3 (39:29):
By the way, tonight Apple TV game so not on
no local television.

Speaker 7 (39:33):
That's right Sunday Roku game, no local television Space City,
So I know the one place you can get all
the games right here at Sports Talks of.

Speaker 1 (39:40):
It now, don't We're here every day and I'll be
doing the on Deck show and tenth Inning show tomorrow night.
So busy Saturday night with me. I mean, what else
could you want to possibly do on a Saturday night?
Movies now show, no jazz, no listen to me to
a pre and post game shows. Of course, that's how
you spend your weekends. Sounds great.

Speaker 3 (39:56):
I like to usually go to the club and dance
to some Beji's music on a SAT.

Speaker 1 (40:00):
I would be there too. Matter in fact the game
starts at six, I could be there by ten thirty.
All right, Uh, thank you Gordy, Daddy, Sir Chris Gordy.
Of course, lockdown whatever it is these days, and of
course uh our man comes in and hangs out with
us Mondays and Fridays. For a few minutes. Here on
Sports Talk seven ninety, they're speaking of trades. The rumor
mill is out about the Rockets. Did you see this? Hmm?

(40:21):
Now I want to talk about why names get brought
up and if they really are just somebody just throwing
stuff against the board or if it's legit. We'll discuss
that next starting second hour the Matt Thomas Show with Ross.
I'm sorry he's coming up in thirty minutes here on
seven ninety Talk seven ninety. We're here every day, Monday
through Friday, ten o'clock until two. Ross did the on

(40:41):
Deck in tenth any last night. I'll hand the duties
on Sunday. We all do is collectiveleakscept Adam and Adam
they don't think they need to do it, and that's fine.
Uh seven one three two two five seven ninety is
how you reach the show, Rossie seven one three two
one two five seven ainety. We had the Astros with
the one nothing step back last night to the Royals
in a game that took how long? Two hours? And
what one minute? It was nice? Two o one it

(41:03):
was nice. Let me ask you, this would the automatic
strike after every pitch? How much do you think that
would delay things? Have they have they timed it out
that way? Have they done anything to say this could
add automatic I think it adds seconds and you save
time guys don't have to hem and haw and all
that stuff. Or a challenge system as well, and you
nobody's arguing, and you don't have managers, and you don't

(41:26):
have a pictures huffing and puffing and taking an extra
time out to stare down the umpires. So it's probably
about a wash. Yeah, you're gonna you know what, Uh,
I could buy your argument. I have bought your argument before,
but it's can you sell it back? Well, you're gonna
fall on your sword on it. I'm gonna it's I
don't have to fall on anything. You're falling on it
because logic, and I'm right, no, but I'm saying it's

(41:48):
never going to happen. Maybe m m I when you're
visiting me in the home. How stupid does this sound?
Go ahead? Sorry, they're they're not going to eminate the
complete human element of the sport. I think the Challenge
system is coming in. I think the Challenge system I
don't want to say it's a happy medium, because no,
pid the perfect medium is the perfect answer is to

(42:11):
have an automatic ball strike. I just don't think it's
going to get past because I don't even think all
the players want the automatic ball strike. The Challenge system
says we have the ability to get every single call right,
but we're not going.

Speaker 3 (42:21):
To there's stupid about this.

Speaker 1 (42:23):
The other side of it, there are some pictures that
are getting strike calls. I understand what the pictures don't.

Speaker 3 (42:28):
I don't.

Speaker 1 (42:29):
We sat in front of Spencer Arraghetti. He talked about it,
and I even said to him, so you're telling me
we can get every call right, and you don't want
to do it. He's like, I know, it sounds dumb,
because I think perhaps a slight expansion, a very slight
expansion of the strike zone would be in order, because
the pictures do get the benefit of more calls, and

(42:50):
maybe it would be just a little bit of a
modification of where the strike zone is. But also if
you do also if you go with automatic ball strikes
and then the pictures aren't getting more calls, that means
more walks. That needs more offense. That means they got
to throw more strikes. That would be good for the
game as well. Do you. I don't even think though,
that Major League Baseball is complaining about offense at this point. Now,
if you're an Astros fan, you are, but generally speaking,

(43:10):
you put a game on, you get a nine to
three game with the best of them, You watch the Dodgers,
you watch the if you are a Mets fan, if
you're a Yankees fan, you're getting plenty of offense like.

Speaker 3 (43:20):
A good picture's duel, for sure.

Speaker 1 (43:22):
And I'm not saying it's bad, and I'm not saying
the sport is horrible, but it just makes a zero
sense to say we have the technology to get every
single call right and we're not going to do it well.
I don't want to be hypocritical. I want to I
do believe in your argument. I just don't think it's
gonna happen. I do believe that we need more instant replay.
I do believe in the NBA, especially because that's the
sport I call. I do believe you should be deserving

(43:44):
of more replay options. If television replay and video replay
can help you get calls right, why would anyone be
against it? And the number one thing I hear about
is time. I hear about time, to a lesser extent
in Major League Baseball, I hear the term human element
A lot. Problem is sometimes we just don't trust our humans. Yeah,
and then these guys like we had Alex Bregman with

(44:06):
spring training again, he's like, oh, I I like the
human element. You guys don't and then it's like, no,
but that's the guy. He was like the first one
arguing with umpires all season long.

Speaker 3 (44:13):
We'll see.

Speaker 1 (44:13):
That's why I've been resolved because I've talked to enough
players we have and I also believe they do want
to value in debolvement. It's also going to be a
differy difficult to get to pass by the Umpire's Union
and whatnot. The challenge system is going to be closer
to what you want better than what we have. And
I know that's not the answer you want, but that's

(44:35):
just the reality. What I wonder I would like somebody
to speak on this because I just don't know. If
you say we're going to do balls and strikes automatically,
and and baseball is instituting this, why does the Umpire's
Union have a say?

Speaker 3 (44:50):
Because they're not modifying their pay No, but.

Speaker 1 (44:53):
They're modifying their like for instance, when you had to
add the clock to the sport, when you had to
did they.

Speaker 3 (45:00):
Have to talk to time out everything?

Speaker 1 (45:02):
Everything's collectively barking. Responsibilities of the game would be collectively borrowing.
That would be with the players and the UH and
the owners. But what are the well, the umpires have
to do with the rules of the game. They don't
set the rules of the game. But I'm I absolutely
one hun a percent feel like they have a there's
some sort of say. I think everything when it comes
to rule changes has to run by the Empire's Union because, frankly,

(45:22):
I have to know more about that. Yeah, I don't know.
You'd have to ask. I guess you'd have to ask
an umpire. I have a friend. I don't have a friend.
I know someone that is an umpire in Major League Baseball. Okay,
when he comes around next time, I'll ask, don't you
text him? I don't have his number. Oh so you're
not you're not real friends? Then no, But I bought
a lunch with him in a very expensive Mexican restaurant
downtown Houston.

Speaker 3 (45:43):
Shoot him a DM. I don't want to incide up
in there.

Speaker 1 (45:46):
I'm not signing into a man's d MS. Why not? Yeah?
All right? Seven one three two one two five seven
nine zero seven one three two one two five seven
and anything goes Friday we got I'm sorry, it's coming
up at bottom of the hour. You need to apologize
for things that you've done this week. Okay, I was
looking at you, and I'm like, man, your list has
got to be long. Why because I just know you're

(46:07):
I'm a saint, You're a scoundrel. I'm a saint. You're
not a saint at all. You're far from it. All Right,
So the rumor here's where I don't buy rumors. The
number one what you said more so than Durant, is
you honest his future in Milwaukee, Right, that'd be the
number one, especially because of the fact that Damian Lillard

(46:27):
is going to be out probably all the next season.
Milwaukee's way over the cap, they don't have their draft picks,
blah blah blah, they're in a reorganization. And when you
have Giannis and two years left of a contract, it
makes it a fairly good acquisition to make because he
won't threaten to go somewhere else or stop playing.

Speaker 3 (46:44):
I mean two years is two years and he onces
win a championship.

Speaker 1 (46:47):
And the relationship between the Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis is
very very good, so they'll cooperate with each other. Right
if if he finds a deal that makes sense, you
honest like, oh yeah, I'll go play there. So yesterday
the Twitter streets Kurt healing. H E l I n
Basketball hoops is his uh I believe is his moniker

(47:08):
on Twitter Basketball Talk Basketball? Who's basketball hoops? There's such
as there is a talk hoops. Okay, Zach stopped responding
to our text and stopped coming on when he got
big time. But that's okay. Yeah, it's like the Sam
Vasisi guy. He never responds to my tweets for tech Vassini.
He's yeah, he's on my list too, but that's a
different issue. He's a big Iman Thompson fan though, so appreciate.

(47:30):
So I could drop that in there and didn't help
me out last time. Well okay, so Kurt Heal, that
is that how you pronounce it? I don't know this.
Kurry h suggested that the Milwaukee Bucks and the Rockets
would be ultimately talking about a trade and that his

(47:50):
sources say the Rockets would be willing to part with
Alpera and Shngoon and Jabari Smith is part of the package.
From his article, Houston would be open to trade Alprinchengoon,
League sources told NBC Sports, but the Bucks may be
higher on a Jalen Green based trade depending on how
they rate Green. Jabari Smith junior likely to be part
of any deal. Rockets have a lot of first picks,

(48:14):
first round picks. So let me ask you this. We
are so early in the trade game, right, we have
all summer Frankly, hmm. If you're the Rockets, why would
you get that? Why would they you let that out?

Speaker 8 (48:28):
No?

Speaker 3 (48:28):
This is he's got to be getting that from the
Buck side.

Speaker 9 (48:31):
Why.

Speaker 1 (48:31):
Okay, So that's question number two if you're trying to
consummate a deal with one of the most important players
in Milwaukee Bucks history, probably more so than Lewell Cender Frankly,
because Kareem is more known as a Laker than he
is a Buck. We only know one thing of Giannis,

(48:51):
and he's a Milwaukee Buck, brought him a championship. Mm hmm,
top seventy five player. Why would you if you're just
shut your mouth? Two things here? Three things here again,
So let me ask you this. Do you believe what
Kurt is saying? And if you do, why would the
Bucks want to put that out there? That's the third
thing I was going to add is that he could

(49:12):
be making this up. Number One, I don't know this guy.
I'm not saying he is. I'm saying he could be
number one.

Speaker 3 (49:19):
Number two.

Speaker 1 (49:20):
It could be to drum up interest and market from
other teams, other teams who are possibly interested in the
honest and say, wow, okay, Rockets are willing to give
up a twenty two year old All.

Speaker 3 (49:30):
Star, We got to up our Annie.

Speaker 1 (49:32):
It could be for to not just between the Rockets
and the Bucks, but to make a bigger market elsewhere.

Speaker 3 (49:40):
So then if you're the Rockets, do you call the
Bucks and say what are you doing? That's correct? That's
another thing. And then that's my third point is that
we don't know who Kurt.

Speaker 1 (49:49):
If Kurt did talk to somebody, we don't know who
he talked to, probably could have been a lower level
official graph manager, something that eleaked something they shouldn't have, right,
right right. I just believe when you are trying to
acquire things, whether it's a trade, whether it's free agency,
whether it's at your workplace, if you're trying to get

(50:10):
an employee to come over from another company, shut up.
Don't first of all, know who your inner group is.
Tell them to keep their mouths shut and don't get
it out there. Because I would hate if the Rockets
really were going to go after Yannis to all of
a sudden have to deal with interference from either Jabbari

(50:31):
side or oupre Inch side. What if the deal doesn't
come into play? What is Alpur and Jabbar are going
to think about coming into the season if they if
they don't make the move for Operan Chinku or for
Gyani's I just in two doubts. The only thing I
give credit for the Dallas and the Lakers deal was
ross is that no one knew this was coming. Sometimes
you just keep your mouth shut.

Speaker 3 (50:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (50:52):
But also Nicko Harrison, if he would have leaked out
that they were looking for Luca, they would have got
probably something better in return. That is true. So maybe
that's what they're going with, is that if if you
only deal with one team, you're not getting a great return.
I'm gonna tell you right now, Giannis for Apron Shngoon,
Jabari Smith and maybe two to three first round picks
and maybe Cam wentmore as part of it. I mean,

(51:16):
if you're Milwaukee, you gotta think about it. Apron's an
All Star whatever you want to describe the All Star is,
but he's a twenty ten guy. My guess is Jabari
Smith becomes an automatic starting member of the starting five.
He's probably a fifteen to eight guy. Cam Witmore might
be just your explosive off the bench. Guys, just volume shooting,
you're gonna get probably at least two round first round picks.

(51:37):
I mean again, I'm not a great surveyor of what
if fair trade is or what not a fair trade is,
but that sounds like it's a pretty good starting point,
does it not? I think so.

Speaker 3 (51:49):
And just on improving the team.

Speaker 1 (51:51):
I've kind of been watching these playoffs and thinking, I
don't know, if the Rockets are close to the Nuggets
and Thunder, they will, by the way, go to a
game seven. I will disagree because maybe I have the
Homer glasses on. I think they're closer than you think,
because I think they both have shown Wartz Denver looks fatigued.
Denver has zero bench. When Yokich is on and Jamal

(52:13):
Murray is on, they're awesome, but they don't have much
they're on in game six. I mean they went to
Strather last night. He helped out a little bit. Yeah,
Julian strol Yon, he's from here, from Lyon. I don't
know where he's from. All right, seven, you know what,

(52:33):
I'm sorry that's fine. I'm gonna save that for in
fifteen minutes. I'm gonna apologize for that again for horrifica impersonations. Yes,
okay about every day seven one three two one two
five seven Auntie Matthew wants to talk about Alex Bregman.
We'll get to that in some astros and of course
bottom of the hour. What do you need to apologize for?
You know you've done And I'm gonna apologize for something

(52:55):
I did in the parking lot at the office yesterday. Good.

Speaker 3 (52:58):
But I think since you work in this building, you'll
kind of understand why I did it.

Speaker 1 (53:03):
Okay. Seven one three two one two five seven ninety
seven one three two one two five seven ninety eleven
twenty Sports Talk seven ninety It is the Matt Thomas
Show with Ross. We know what we were talking about
Instagram in it ago, Uh, we have a poll question
on our Instagram account. The Sports Talks sad and said
would you want Pete Rose in the Hall of Fame?
Eighty nine percent of the people that punched said yes.

(53:26):
I'm stunned the number is so high. Hmm and a
lot of it the button well, no, there was it
was either yes, or no, Okay, you didn't get that
was not an option. Where's that he's dead? It doesn't
matter to me. Button Well maybe that's what that's what
the Rose family might be thinking. You never know. No,
the Rose family, I'm sure would want it. I mean,
wouldn't you want your dad in the Hall of Fame

(53:47):
if he was black bolled for fifty years? It's been
that long, what was it? I mean, it's been forty
forty Why bother at this point? I mean, I don't know. Yeah,
I mean he's the all time hit king, as people
have been mentioning he's in the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 3 (54:02):
They mentioned him and his story and him being the hit.

Speaker 1 (54:04):
King, right. I believe he just doesn't have effect. He
just didn't have a plaque, Yeah, and didn't have a ceremony.
So put a plaque in a ceremony and that's see.

Speaker 3 (54:12):
I don't need that. I don't need the National Baseball
Hall of Fame telling me that Pete Rose want all
the time.

Speaker 1 (54:16):
Yeah. Yeah. Let's go to Matthew at eleven twenty one
on The Matt Thomas Show with Ross Matthew, thanks for
holding and good morning to you.

Speaker 3 (54:24):
Good morning sir. First off, Charlie Hustle is the first ballot,
hands down. But about Bregman, so I.

Speaker 1 (54:33):
Read like a little uh.

Speaker 10 (54:36):
I guess it was a post from Houston Astros Nation
on Facebook that said as soon as Bregman agreed to
that contract with Boston that the coaches immediately contacted him
and said they saw a bunch of flaws in his swing.
He was loading his hands too late, and now all
of a sudden he's raking at Boston. So I just
wanted to hear if do you all feel like that

(54:59):
was a valid the post I saw on Facebook.

Speaker 1 (55:02):
Or or was it from the this is the problem
the Facebook has a was it from the Jeff Passon article?
So I didn't see that in the Jeff Pattison article
that they were immediately contacted. But yeah, he's working with
a couple of things here. He's working with the Red
Sox guys and changed his handload. But Alex Bregman, over
the years here in Houston, he would go on a

(55:22):
hot streak and then talk about all these thirty different
things that he was doing. We had Brian McTaggart on
yesterday and he mentioned it that Alex Bregman talked about Yeah,
I'm get the nbob with the bat in front of
the ball, and he said that literally last year when
he went in a hot streak here. Yeah, so I
guess you're asking if this is an indictment of the
Astros hitting coaches here, Matthew. The answer is, it's not

(55:42):
all Alex Bregman does. All he does is change his swing.
Now sometimes if you have a different set of eyes
on him, I can understand that. But to say that
the Astros as an organization, with hitting coaches and Bregman
and video coordinators completely missed something that the red side
did see, I don't buy that. And also Alex Berman,

(56:03):
while he was here, he had his own personal hitting coach.

Speaker 3 (56:06):
He didn't he didn't work with Troy Snicker.

Speaker 10 (56:09):
He also said that. It also said that, uh Bregman,
he was making tweaks with his swing constantly, which sometimes
would work and sometimes it wouldn't. So yeah, it's not
necessarily an indictment on our hitting coaches.

Speaker 1 (56:23):
But yeah, I mean, I feel like it's a decent
question to ask. Yeah, it's a decent question. Thank you
Matthew for the phone call. I appreciate you listening. It
was a passing attempt to go a little gotcha. It
just was I probably and you know when when oh,
he's he's that's what he is, he's a some reporters
want to say, all I've uncovered his great story goes

(56:46):
to Boston new people watching him found out that they
were doing something the astros couldn't mean, couldn't see.

Speaker 3 (56:52):
Yeah, and it's it's funny.

Speaker 1 (56:54):
You know, when Alex Bregman had his best career of
his year offensively, you know who the hitting coaches were,
Troy Snicker and Alex in And you know, people are like.

Speaker 3 (57:01):
Oh, hell Tuvey, he can't hit. Firing the hitting coaches.

Speaker 1 (57:05):
Jose L Tuve has been one of the best hitters
on the planet under the tutelage of Troyce Nicker and
Alex Sindrome.

Speaker 3 (57:11):
Same thing with Jordon Alvarez. Oh he can't hit. It's
the hitting coaches.

Speaker 1 (57:14):
When he's been one of the most devastating hitters on
the planet, it's been these guys here, Well, can we
have some logic, folks, I'll have another example, several examples.
I mean, Charlie Martin reinvented his career. Here you say,
Kakucci reinvented Garrett Cole found some things. You do gain
some knowledge from different people, but it doesn't mean that

(57:36):
you say Kakuci was.

Speaker 3 (57:37):
This garbage instruction when he was pitching elsewhere.

Speaker 1 (57:40):
I don't tend to believe that unless the player says,
I can't believe I was with this organization for this
many years and they found a blemish in my game
and the way I throw the base through the baseball
gripped it, and I can't believe nobody figured that out
while I was there. And another thing, nobody's mentioned Kyle
Tucker in a couple of weeks. You know why he's
been slumping mightily. Them's all hard hitting coaches are idiots.

(58:03):
Look at Kyle Tucker. Dude is under nine hundred ops.
He was opsing over one thousand. He's under where he
was last year for the Astros when he was almost
at a thousand. Nobody's mentioning that now. And another thing,
Fregman's numbers are going to go down. There's a man.
I don't want to get too deep in the analytic
weeds with you. Here we go, but batting average balls

(58:24):
in play can can highlight if you're having a lot
of luck. His career number there is two eighty two
like batting average, balls and play he's at three forty four. Generally,
he's going to stay around his career unless he just
up and became the fastest player on the planet. So
his numbers are going to come down. You have my
personal guarantee he's not going to ops over nine to

(58:46):
fifty this year. He's not.

Speaker 3 (58:48):
And then we can revisit on this topic again.

Speaker 1 (58:50):
Yeah, I just to me neglecting or taking shots of
the former team for something. We never did it here,
we ever go. Man, those those pitching coaches in Toronto,
they were got garbage. They didn't see what you say
Kakuchi was doing here the he's doing there. Again, I
will chalk it up to different set of eyes see
some different things. But Alex Bregman would say numerous times

(59:12):
I've tried this, I'm gonna do this. He he's a tinkerer.
He is a Yeah, he's a he's a tinker tinkerer
and is that a word?

Speaker 3 (59:20):
I think we're gonna make it.

Speaker 1 (59:22):
He's a video guy. Yeah, he's always in. He lives
in Breeze Baseball. He had his own personal hitting coach
when he was here. Anyways, and and Troy Stinker would help.
According to Shanla Rome, who was extremely reliable on these things.
Yeah so yeah, I mean.

Speaker 3 (59:42):
It's low hanging fruit, but it's passing. It's fan fodder.

Speaker 1 (59:47):
Well, Jeff Passon didn't mention anything about the Astros hitting
coaches in the article. Well, but there was an insinuation
that all of a sudden, thankfully that he got with
the coaches the Boston Red Sox and things change.

Speaker 3 (59:56):
I didn't feel that that way, but that's a how
a lot of Astros fans took it.

Speaker 5 (59:59):
Well.

Speaker 3 (59:59):
I reading the article, I took it.

Speaker 1 (01:00:01):
In some respects of that because I don't give Jeff
Passing the benon for the down. Okay, maybe, and then
you know what. That may be short suted on my part,
but that's just who I am. All Right, I have
to apologize for something. Oh I bet.

Speaker 3 (01:00:14):
Twelve two in h Town.

Speaker 11 (01:00:20):
Good morn Exterribars and welcome to the third hour of

(01:00:47):
the Mount Thomas Show in Ross.

Speaker 3 (01:00:49):
There's this sports Talk seven.

Speaker 1 (01:00:52):
We think the calls show. Sometimes you get inspired different
reactions after calls. What's that guy's name the call the
show is his name?

Speaker 7 (01:01:01):
Bob No.

Speaker 3 (01:01:03):
It was a regular name, Gary No. I think it's bad.

Speaker 4 (01:01:06):
By the way, everybody, that's that second, that's clip was
twenty more seconds longer than it was.

Speaker 1 (01:01:11):
Oh, you could have played it, you could have played
all of it. I think I insulted it. I think
I insulted his heritage and everything. Oh, do you have
the full one somewhere? I can get it real quick? Yeah,
fine it. Well, this is what happens when we got
four hours to fill. So yeah, remember link is our specialty.
Go in the distance, full four hour radio show today.

(01:01:32):
Can't help yourself, can you? We're talking about geez, well
we can hear that one next week. You're still looking
for more material? Goodness? Great, well, I'm banking this up
when I go to that volleyball event. I think you
should maybe we should do the show from Dallas.

Speaker 3 (01:01:43):
You want to for a week. Yeah, you got my hotel.

Speaker 1 (01:01:46):
You can stay with us. Where are you else staying?
It's downtown Dallas. That's wherever you're getting points. I understand,
well earning them you have to. You can't get points
unless you pay for them. Yeah, and then then expense
it to who is it the same family of properties
as we went to for spring training?

Speaker 12 (01:02:04):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (01:02:05):
Did you pay for that hotel room. Nope, did you
get points off that hotel room? Maybe? All right?

Speaker 1 (01:02:12):
Did you sleep well?

Speaker 3 (01:02:13):
I slept great?

Speaker 1 (01:02:14):
Well?

Speaker 3 (01:02:14):
Then breakfast was good too, Yeah, so shut up.

Speaker 1 (01:02:18):
Twelve o five, it's time for us to give you
the big headlines the day while I had a partaking
maybe a bite or two of my life. Oh my god,
take your time, Ross, because it's your time to give
us the news at noon.

Speaker 3 (01:02:32):
Yees, Matthew.

Speaker 1 (01:02:33):
A number of things you get to here on the
news at dude, the Sports Talk seven Idy a little
mat Tommy's show with Ross. Let's go ahead and start
with you're a Houston Astros dropping the series opener to
the Texas Rangers.

Speaker 13 (01:02:47):
First pitch and that's popped up third base side tore
at the line in the foul territory. Paradus makes the
catch between the back and the coaches box, and the
side is retired. Eight innings of one run ball for
a Hunter Brown, his longest outing as a professional, best
start of his career, just.

Speaker 1 (01:03:07):
Three hits, allowed eight innings, a complete game because of
the loss one earned run. Jake Burger, Jake Berger. Yeah,
Astros had five hits to just the Rangers three, but
Jake de Grom was great as well. Eight innings of
five hit shutout ball for him. He also had seven strikeouts.

(01:03:28):
Interesting factoid from this one, Matthew from our friends over
at opti stats. Since pitches first began track in nineteen
eighty eight, is the first major league game where both
starters pitched eight innings, allowed one or fewer runs, and
struck out seven or more batters on fewer than one
hundred pitches. That was an all time pitchers jewel is
what I'm saying. You know threason why the game went

(01:03:49):
two hours in one minute? It was nice, you had
plenty of action. Well you didn't have enough action. You
were done two hours in one minute, zero for three
with runners in scoring position. But so oh, where the
Texas Rangers. How much do we say, Hey, these bats
need to work, need to work this out, or Jake,
the ground will give you a pass.

Speaker 3 (01:04:09):
No, the Astro bats are what the Astro bats are.

Speaker 1 (01:04:11):
They're gonna largely struggle and they're gonna have to win
a lot of four three three one type ball games
this year. So so prayers to all the members of
the Astros pitching staff, including the bullpen, which probably will
be quite a bit worked. If indeed Lance mccullors does
not go deep in the game again tonight, Well, I
was gonna ask you that we can get to it
later on the show. But yeah, what are we feeling?

(01:04:31):
Just get feeling for Lance mccullor's junior and his start
tonight against Nate of vol Why are you clinching your
teeth so I'm nervous, I'm scared. Okay, let's just because
he's on one with a fifteen point seventy five era,
that's why.

Speaker 3 (01:04:47):
So let's let's go to the positives.

Speaker 1 (01:04:50):
If he gives you five innings tonight, that's a super
big win and under and and uh, you get the
Lance mcclors thought you were getting back now. I think
tonight the hook will be very quick on him because
the bullpen has rested. Everybody get the day off yesterday. Yeah,
how much of a leash do you give him? We'll see,

(01:05:11):
I mean just hopefully, hopefully it's we don't have to
worry about it. I come struggles again tonight. We're gonna
have a lot of conversation next week about it.

Speaker 3 (01:05:20):
I'm gonna be freaking out quite frankly.

Speaker 1 (01:05:23):
Remember we I'm on Monday, and to tell the truth
that so we're gonna have an uncomfortable conversation. I hope
we don't. But a sluggish performance today against a what
would you call a underperforming Ranger offense, They're okay. Yeah,
I don't know where they are as far as team ranks,
but I don't think of them. You know, they're not
as fearsome as they were a couple of years ago.
Marcus Simian's having a down year. Number those guys are

(01:05:45):
having some down years. I don't know what was their
secret sauce in twenty twenty three, they're all having careers
at the same time. That's quite suspicious. But anyways, Matt,
let's keep it with the Astros. Were talking about some
Astros past history, all right, and apparently in twenty thirteen,
Jeff Luno considering trading away a future Hall of Famer.

(01:06:09):
This is former Royals general manager Dayton Moore on the
Digging a Deep podcast.

Speaker 8 (01:06:16):
We're in Houston in thirteen and I got a call
from Jeff Luneaw. I was setting up the Starbucks coffee
and he said, I got a deal for you. I said, okay,
he said, I'll trade you out to for Eric.

Speaker 9 (01:06:30):
Hosmer, that's one.

Speaker 1 (01:06:33):
Is that real? That's real?

Speaker 8 (01:06:35):
Well, I said, nope, I didn't like trading. I didn't
like trading major league players.

Speaker 1 (01:06:49):
With Eric Osmer on the podcast by in the major
leagues at the time, yes, saying you're an idiot, Eric
Osmer saying that for him not trading him right for trading. Yeah, yeah,
I think it's a funny anecdotal story. But I think
there are five million similar stories about really nice young

(01:07:10):
players trying to be superstars at Wind, not not getting
traded or getting traded for that matter. I mean, if
you I'm not going to crush Luno for that because
the some of the work was outstanding, from trades to
drafts to acquisitions. I mean, the greatest general manager in
Houston sports history. I don't think I can argue with that. No,

(01:07:33):
I don't think you can unless you're a Carol Dolphin guy.
I don't know. Hey, he signed Calvin Cato. That was
not a great deal. Nobody's perfect, Matt right, Uh yeah,
Jeff Luno traded away Josh Hater. He also got Jornan
Alvarez for uh what's his face? Josh Fields. He also
traded for Mike Fires and he also got Zach Greenkey.

(01:07:54):
He also traded away Tascar Hernandez for Francisco Loriano.

Speaker 3 (01:07:58):
Who Leriano?

Speaker 1 (01:08:00):
We all got a obvious Anyways, Matt, let's up moving
along in the news at noon. Uh, we'll keep it
with the sports, but kind of off the beaten paths.
Are you familiar with the Magic Johnson Award given up
by the Pro Basketball Writers Association, Man, I am not.
The Magic Johnson Award honors the NBA player who best

(01:08:22):
combines excellence on the court with cooperation and grace and
dealing with the media and fans. Well, this week that
award was given to Kevin Durant. They might want it
back because he came at Emmanuel Acho, who did have
a hot take on some FS one show I don't
watch talking about how the Celtics are better without All

(01:08:45):
Star Jason Tatum forty points. Yeah, first of ball, Manualaca
has no business talking about the NBA. Sorry, Longhorned legend. Well,
I'm glad you brought that up. Kevin Durant's response to
a tweet with that video hot take artists have ruined
the sport football guys, no disrespect, but y'all boys need
to stay in your lanes. You don't know what it's

(01:09:06):
like between these lines. Man, give it a break. Do
to quit football earlier, to pursue media talking toughness, cut
it out. I will say this, and I don't want
to stereotype a particular group of media people because there
have been some that have been able to do it
very effectively. But generally speaking, especially in the national side

(01:09:27):
of things, if you step out of your sport, you
don't know your sport. Does that make sense to you?
When you have football people doing a general talk show,
them talking about baseball and basketball is painful. Just like
if I heard a basketball person like Charles Barkley trying

(01:09:48):
to break down the MLB or the NHL, it's painful,
I would say not in every case. The really good
ones can do it in all the sports, but it
takes work. And most times when I will hear a
football guy trying to talk about the NBA, I laugh
at it's just rather. I think that's putting takes. I

(01:10:09):
think that's not even it. I think it's not Emmanuelaccho
knows that's a hot take. Emmanuel Oto knows what he's doing.
And you know Longhorn legend played briefly in the NFL.
Smart guy, I believe. But I also believe he knows
what he's doing, and he is being a hot take artist.
Well that's embarrassing for him because he doesn't need to
do mean, had Joy Taylor's played out on his couch.
Nice guy, I'm sure great?

Speaker 3 (01:10:29):
What does he does?

Speaker 1 (01:10:29):
He has he seen George Taylor naked? Absolutely? Yeah, I
appreciate Emmanuelacho respect the game.

Speaker 3 (01:10:34):
Does she does? She the peanut butter and chocolate.

Speaker 1 (01:10:37):
But he knows what he's doing when he says this, well,
that's embarrassing. He knows the reaction he's gonna get.

Speaker 3 (01:10:41):
And this is the media.

Speaker 1 (01:10:42):
I guess who's not gonna watch a shit? You know
it's what he's doing. Skip Bayless, steven A. Smith, all
these guys, they know what they're doing. I truly believe
Emmanuelacco is a smart guy who knows he's making hot
takes and is gonna make ways. And he should call
next Friday eleven thirty and say you sorry. Okay, And
good for Kevin Durant for calling him out. That's what
I'm talking about, Matt and After News and noon. Nicely done,

(01:11:03):
Thank you very much. All right, Astros fall one nothing.
We'll get to that. We will get to a very
interesting tweet. I saw of players in the NBA that
have never won a championship. I'm gonna give you nine players.
You're gonna tell me the best three of the nine
that have never won a championship. We talked about this

(01:11:24):
as a fantasy five. I believe we have yes, non
championship winning players starting five. Your's versus mine. Yeah, but
I think it's such it's there's so little argument too.
Now you don't want to get crushed whatever. And then
I also want to tell you that Dove Kleiman, who's
an aggregator who you don't like. Mute him, Please mute him, Please,

(01:11:45):
had a jet got a chat GPT out of future
super Bowls, like you know, because Chad GPT is the thing?

Speaker 4 (01:11:53):
God?

Speaker 1 (01:11:55):
Can I read you who the Super Bowls are going?
To be sure? We've got those two things coming up.
Florida stories at one point thirty believe it or not,
all things about the the Jaws series on helly or
not and your phone calls. That's a radio program for
the next hour forty five? Why would you go anywhere else?
We want to go? You want to cuss and it's
goods a Texan schedule again?

Speaker 3 (01:12:12):
That what you want?

Speaker 7 (01:12:13):
Ross?

Speaker 1 (01:12:14):
You want four hours more of Texan schedule breakdown? I'm good.
Are you sure you don't want to got a win
forecast out of the Texan jet not having seen a
complete draft pick?

Speaker 14 (01:12:22):
Go yet?

Speaker 1 (01:12:23):
Are you sure we could do that? Backup linebacker talk,
third string tight end? Go to break seven one three
two one two five, seven ninety they have a game six.

Speaker 14 (01:12:35):
Uh, Matt Thomas, you know you are the clown that
said arch Manning was gonna be leaving after year one.

Speaker 9 (01:12:42):
He's gonna transform.

Speaker 1 (01:12:43):
What's yours up?

Speaker 11 (01:12:45):
You are the dumbest rocket man I've ever heard.

Speaker 1 (01:12:47):
Of my life.

Speaker 2 (01:12:48):
You ought to be embarrassed. Never call my radio show.
You are embarrassing Houston sports. You know nothing about sports period.
In the story, you ought to be embarrassed.

Speaker 1 (01:12:57):
Matter of fact, why didn't.

Speaker 2 (01:12:58):
You go to Pravos I want to Housewife series? Because
you're no squad about sports.

Speaker 1 (01:13:04):
Not more than you the hell you do?

Speaker 6 (01:13:08):
You know what you are? Old?

Speaker 2 (01:13:10):
You are now you're a squad about sports.

Speaker 3 (01:13:13):
You don't know the hell you're talking about.

Speaker 1 (01:13:15):
You're one of the five Deuviest cars I've.

Speaker 2 (01:13:17):
Ever had in my thirty year broadcast career, So you
can suck it.

Speaker 1 (01:13:23):
Another create listener is Sports Socks seven Daddy Chiming in
twelve twenty two is our time. Thanks Bob for calling.
You always feel it for you to call the show.

Speaker 3 (01:13:39):
This is what you're missing out on Space City Home Network. Yeah,
Space City. Do you want Adam and Adam being nice?

Speaker 13 (01:13:48):
No?

Speaker 3 (01:13:49):
I want Matt Thomas or do you want to keep
it reels.

Speaker 5 (01:13:53):
Man?

Speaker 3 (01:13:54):
That is that is pure.

Speaker 5 (01:13:59):
That gold?

Speaker 1 (01:14:00):
Yeah? Yeah, sometimes you got to tell it the way
it is. That's what we do here every year Monday,
you know where to do?

Speaker 6 (01:14:05):
This?

Speaker 1 (01:14:05):
Is this bad radio?

Speaker 3 (01:14:06):
I want to hear that again? Can I hear that
one more time? One more time?

Speaker 4 (01:14:10):
Please?

Speaker 14 (01:14:11):
And you know, uh, Matt Thomas, you know you are
the clown that said arch Manning was gonna be leaving
after year one.

Speaker 1 (01:14:20):
He's gonna trans shoot your mass up.

Speaker 3 (01:14:23):
You are the dumbest rocket man I've never heard of
my life.

Speaker 2 (01:14:25):
You ought to be embarrassed. Never call my radio show.
You are embarrassing Houston Sports. You know nothing about sports
fared in the story. You gotta be embarrassed. Matter of fact,
why don't you go to Bravo start watching a Real
Housewives series.

Speaker 1 (01:14:38):
Because you don't know squad about sports, no more than
you the hell you do.

Speaker 3 (01:14:45):
You know what you are, old, you are now, you
don't know squad about sports. You don't know the hell
you're talking about.

Speaker 1 (01:14:52):
You're one of the five daviest colors I've ever had in.

Speaker 3 (01:14:55):
My thirty year broadcast career.

Speaker 1 (01:14:56):
So you can stuck. You can suck it.

Speaker 3 (01:15:01):
That is perfect.

Speaker 4 (01:15:05):
Okay, let's play at the second time.

Speaker 1 (01:15:07):
You all right?

Speaker 3 (01:15:09):
No, oh, it just gets better. It's aging like wine.
It's just getting better and better.

Speaker 1 (01:15:15):
We don't do a best of during the year, do we, No,
we don't. It's gonna say we got forty seconds and
we've got three hours and fifty minutes and twenty seconds
off ago. We're getting there, all right, real quick. Not
that NBA playoff chatter. It's gonna be a huge conversation
piece around here. But if you would like to go
to Game six of tonight's game between the Knicks and
the Celtics, no, I'm good. Well, if you were thinking

(01:15:37):
about it, Okay, get in price, can I guess please?
Five hundred, five hundred and seventy two dollars yes, it's close.
Now if you would like to go to tomorrow's Is
it tomorrow or Sunday for Game seven of the Thunder
and Nuggets. I think it's tomorrow whenever that is. Would
you like to get in for that game? M Oklahoma City?

(01:15:59):
Nothing else to do? Sunday, by the way, Okay, Sunday,
so there's some time left.

Speaker 5 (01:16:05):
You know.

Speaker 1 (01:16:06):
The next game is tonight. The thunder Nuggets game is
on Sunday, so there is I'll stick around. I'll say
six hundred dollars. Try again.

Speaker 3 (01:16:18):
It's way more.

Speaker 1 (01:16:19):
I'm gonna just say try again because you're way off thousand,
one and seventy three dollars. Oh, okay, it is game seven.
It's also Friday. I understand it's Oklahoma City. There will
I bet you seven. I bet you can get in
the next tonight. Are right now at five seventy two

(01:16:40):
to walk in? I bet you doesn't get to four hundred. Okay,
I don't think. I don't think it's gonna go up
another one hundred. I know I should have went lower
for a cowtown like Oklahoma City. You're right, I do,
I do like don't sit there like Alex Trebek All
smug because you've got the ans is in front of you.

Speaker 3 (01:17:01):
Sorry, my favorite one was he a loser?

Speaker 1 (01:17:06):
In other words, losers someone woman's talking about some nerd
rap they do. Yeah, that's true, that's true. They he
doesn't make he did make you feel bad. I don't
think Ken Jennings does that, now get I don't watch
jeopard of Ken Jennings. I don't watch Jeopardy all because
I always feels so dumb because I never know any
of the answer watching learn something, Matt but learning or

(01:17:26):
or is it retention?

Speaker 3 (01:17:28):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:17:28):
Yeah, that's true. You got issues? Okay, your brain's all
packed up with trivia from game shows that is actually accurate.
It is a game show, that's and it's true, but
it's just too smart for me. Like Will of Fortune,
I don't think Ryan what's his face? Doing very good job?
Ryan Seacrest's just he's just there. I'm not watching it.

(01:17:49):
I don't know. And by the way, Martin Short, hosting
match game is just pissing me off too. Why is
it because I should be hosting match game? I get
so mad about it. Who's more famous?

Speaker 15 (01:18:01):
You are?

Speaker 3 (01:18:01):
Martin Schure.

Speaker 1 (01:18:02):
I get so mad about it that I went on
the match game fan page on Facebook and put on
there I should be the host of the show. You
did absolutely get They're like, person said, who are you?
I said, hidden replies they put you in hidden. I said,
I am a radio professional. I have been a game
show kind of survived all my life. I absolutely did.
I said I would do a much better.

Speaker 5 (01:18:23):
Was this?

Speaker 1 (01:18:23):
I want to find this, so I'll find it for you.
It was probably probably two or three weeks ago when
it was first announced. Okay, okay, let's go back to
sports here because we are into anything goes Friday at
seven one three, two, one two.

Speaker 3 (01:18:33):
Five, seven ninety. I want to give you nine players.

Speaker 1 (01:18:37):
Okay, okay, this will be good for this is this
is historical NBA when people on our audience actually like
the NBA, except for the Rockets, obviously. Can I try
to name them off? I don't have anything pulled up
and just okay, uh, there are others that have not
won a title before. But there are nine. There are
actually eight on this list that I've been given, but

(01:18:58):
there's one Grand Ole mission, so I'm gonna add ninth myself.

Speaker 3 (01:19:01):
Okay, can you name?

Speaker 1 (01:19:02):
In my opinion? These eight are obviously I think my
top eight plus one. Well, can you name the nine
greatest players that have never won an NBA champion All right, well,
stock let's start with Stockton and Malone. That's two, Barkley three,
that's the one I added. By the way, they did
not put on the list. Really strange. Let's go with
Chris Paul not on there, Allen iverson on there. I

(01:19:26):
didn't cep would make it ten. Okay, let's let's make
it CP for ten. Patrick Ewing not on there?

Speaker 5 (01:19:32):
What?

Speaker 1 (01:19:33):
Let me give you the list? Okay, Reggie Miller, Steve
Nash please, James Harden, Stockton, AI, Damian Lillard, Karl Malone,
Russell Westbrook. This is a very recently biased to recent times.

Speaker 3 (01:19:52):
No Chris Paul, No Chris Paul. Do you say Chris
Weber's on there?

Speaker 1 (01:19:55):
No Chris Webber, No Chris Weber, No Patrick Patrick You
young would have had to be on the list for
me too, and Paul. I don't know if I could
put Chris Webber as a What about Tam mac He
was on that championship team, but he didn't play the
Spurs one and they won in fourteen. I guess, or
was he on that team? I don't think he's got
a ring.

Speaker 7 (01:20:14):
Does he have a ring?

Speaker 1 (01:20:15):
I think he might have been like on the roster
for the fourteen. OK, take the ten guys we thought about.
Let's add Chris Paul to our list, let's add Patrick
Ewing to our list, and let's add Charles Barkley. Makes
it eleven.

Speaker 3 (01:20:26):
No, he was not, so no championships for McGrady.

Speaker 1 (01:20:29):
So the eleven players that we just listed, give me
the top three that absolutely you think if you could
give them a body of work, you're so awesome. You
deserve a championship, bringer deserve to be on an NBA
championship team. Who would you have given? Who are the
three best of that eleven? Go stock him alone, Chris
Paul or Charles Berkley. I don't know it's a good list.

(01:20:55):
I can knock off Steve Nash, I can knock off
two time. I can knock off AI. I can name off,
knockoff Damian. I can certainly knock off James Harden one
time MVP. To me, it's Stockton Malone and then the
third one is up for grabs. I'd have to look
at Ewing's career. How many time at an All Star
was he just throw I'm just throwing it out there.

(01:21:19):
We're talking about I mean, Orlando Magic legend, Patrick Ewing,
former Rocket assistant coach, Patrick Ewing, eleven time All Star. Yeah,
we can name right, we can take Ross off this list. Correct.
Russ's career is interesting in the scope of history. I
would never shoot I would take Chris Paul's career over

(01:21:41):
Russell Westbrook's career.

Speaker 3 (01:21:42):
I agree, So I want to go with Russe Dame
Russ by a smidge.

Speaker 5 (01:21:54):
Of them.

Speaker 1 (01:21:55):
Why we why? Why are we knocking off? Why are
we not including Reggie Miller in our group? One of
the I mean was the all time three point shot
leader until Steph took over. He's a great player, never
averaged twenty five points per game in a season, and
he didn't create his own shots. He had to come
around like seventy six curls. But he was a great shooter. Yeah, okay,

(01:22:16):
but all right, so I gotta give you definitive answer
rate for break. I'm gonna go Ewing, and I'm gonna
go Malone, Stockton, Stockton, and I'm probably gonna go Chris Paul.

Speaker 3 (01:22:29):
Who's Dominique? Did we say Dominique?

Speaker 1 (01:22:31):
Well, no, Dominica on this list either was great one
won the Spurs as a reserve. No, I think so
I can go look it up. This shows you there's
there's so many great players, but this, this was the
list that this Hoops makes only put together.

Speaker 3 (01:22:46):
I'm guessing the Hoops. He was the Spurs in ninety seven.

Speaker 7 (01:22:48):
They won.

Speaker 1 (01:22:48):
In ninety nine, he was on Orlando. Okay, all right?
Twelve thirty two Sports Talk seven to ninety Are we
seeing the Astro bats for what they really are? Doesn't
open ending question seven one three seven. I think we
are seeing what we think they're going to be the
rest of the year. Twelve thirty two, Sports Talk seven

(01:23:09):
ninety boss, are we ready to announce the Astros offense
and what we're seeing? And it's not gonna change? I
choose to be positive they will get better. Jordon will
come back. First of all, Ordn's out of the lineup.
He's one of the best hitters on the planet. It's
gonna be healthy, ready to go, hands all healed up.

(01:23:29):
He's gonna be matching.

Speaker 3 (01:23:30):
Okay, Christian Walker's not gonna hit two oh three the
whole season.

Speaker 4 (01:23:35):
Now.

Speaker 1 (01:23:35):
I also said the same thing with Jose bradyw and
we even got into a bat, we even got a
bet on it, and yeah, that was one of my great,
great great victories.

Speaker 3 (01:23:43):
I mean you you were a dog in that bet.

Speaker 1 (01:23:45):
Quite frankly, he's a two ninety career hitter and he
couldn't get to two fifty. Jerk, thanks for nothing, Jose.
But anyways, yeah, I believed that Jose Brayward will bounce
back to an extent and he did not. He got
to two forty seven.

Speaker 3 (01:24:00):
Close.

Speaker 1 (01:24:00):
So in a brave us case, to me, he looks
he looked like it was slow, looked like he couldn't
recognize the ball coming out of the hand. It looked
like when you'd rapidly decline, there's nothing you can do
to stop the downfall.

Speaker 3 (01:24:19):
Are are you seeing the same sort of downfall with
I mean.

Speaker 1 (01:24:23):
Christian Walker just this Monday before the start of the
series for Kansas City had a huge weekend against Cincinnati Ross.
So I choose not to send that Christian Walker down
the same plight because at least there have been some moments.
But man, when Christian Walker slumps, he really does slump.

(01:24:44):
Oh for sixteen right now, A lot of strikeouts and uh,
a lot of men left on base in scoring position.
And if that's what Christian Walker is going to do
this year, and he is trying to help you supplant
what Kyle Tucker in and Alex Bregman too a lesser
extent did last year, your offense can't be even with

(01:25:04):
the Alboys coming back, it's not going to be as
good as it was last year, and it may not
even be close to as good as it was last year.
There're gonna be very few nights where the Astros are
going to outslug somebody seven to six. That's what I'm saying.
They can still win the division. They can still make
a deep playoff run, because it all takes a special series.
Doesn't take a special fifty. You don't have to win
fifty games to win a World Series. But I am

(01:25:27):
of the belief that who the Astros are offensively isn't
going to dramatically change. Thirty days from now. They're going
to be a bottom third ops team. They're gonna be
a bottom third. I mean they are like bottom seven.
And home runs, now that that's a huge indicator. A
lot of teams a lot of home runs still lose
at least going into last night they were tied with
the Rockies. Pitching has been really good. Relief pitching, especially

(01:25:51):
starting pitching, has been good. The defense has been phenomenal.
Two cases in point last night with one with Pinion
and one with Myers. So you need the need them,
so you need the intangibles, and the Astros are winning
in the intangible category. The most painful and obvious thing
is seeing runners not advance, guys striking out lazy pop

(01:26:13):
flies and unfortunately way too many one nothing to one
ball games. I do think Christian Walker is going to
hit better, Jordan's going to get back in the lineup.
He's going to be fine. Ander Diaz is going to
turn around to an extent and interesting one. We haven't
really talked about Matt and sometimes in life and in sports,
we have to have uncomfortable conversation. Now I remember, I'm

(01:26:33):
prepared to have an uncomfortable conversation about Lance that things
don't go well tonight, which hopefully they do. Where's jose
L two v at in his career downside thirty five
years old. Yes, started the season hot DDE hitting like
three fifty nine hundred for a lot of the season
first month, at least he's at six to fifty five.

(01:26:58):
I feel like he's still getting you one hit a game,
but one for four is still two fifty. He's been
zero for four in the last two games. I said,
I feel like, let me I guarantee. His last home
run was April twenty eighth. Before that, April seventh, So

(01:27:18):
two home runs since April seventh. Okay, basic, So I'm
gonna ask an even more uncomfortable question. Beyond that, we
saw him drop from one to two. Where is he stay?
With my question here in twenty twenty five, he is
where he's going to stay. If you were to look

(01:27:42):
in your deep crystal ball right now, sports RV for
an astro team to be successful and to win, where's
jose al Tube in your batting lineup? The book is
not written on this year. Let's say that he can
improve baseball players can fish. Anybody that's on a team

(01:28:02):
that can absolutely get into a six hit series or
a twelve or twenty nine kind of thing. It's Joseel
two ba.

Speaker 3 (01:28:09):
He's been an outlier his entire career.

Speaker 1 (01:28:11):
He's been beating projections and blah blah blah anything as
far as like analytics and stuff, he's been toasting those
his whole career. Yes, made a Hall of Fame career
out of it. Yep, Yeah, you gonna have to move
into like six or seven next year. If this continues
the way it is, the Astros will not be built

(01:28:35):
for a continued run back half of this decade. If
Josel two bay on this current pace remains in the
top three in the lineup, and that's very hard for
me to say, because he is the greatest Astro of
them all. It doesn't mean that Josel twobe can't change
things around the rest of this year so he comfortably

(01:28:57):
can be a part of the top three. It doesn't
mean that he can't continue to pursue a thought of
getting to three thousand hits. It doesn't mean that he
necessarily has to have a steep progression downwards. But the
last two years have taken its toll clearly at second base.
It did because the decision to put him out in

(01:29:17):
left field. And here's the one thing we still don't
have second base resolved. But yeah, if on pace guy,
in terms of what jose Al tuv has done offensively
continues with his with his current pace, he needs to
be nothing more than any higher than a sixth place
hitter in the lineup next year, and that's gonna be

(01:29:38):
hard to watch because Josel Tuva has lived in the
top three for nine to nine percent of his Astros career.

Speaker 3 (01:29:45):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 1 (01:29:47):
Not ready to close. I'm not ready to say that,
Jess yet, because we're not looking were we are not
even at the halfway mark of the twenty twenty five.
But just thinking ahead a little bit. He's never been
a super high exit so, but he is worse than
where he was. He's in the bottom one percent of
average exit velocity. That's not good at batspeed. Everything's down

(01:30:09):
across the board and it's concerning. Especially two years ago,
he was still one of the best hitters on the planet.
Last year there was a decline. This year he is
well below average. It needs to stick up. It needs
to He knows that, the Astros know it. But right now,

(01:30:33):
with second base not being a huge hitting spot, Roger's
done okay for himself. Duban is Duban from an offensive standpoint?
Is he your best second baseman al Tuve? Yeah, no,
he's not hitting and he's not good there defensively. So,

(01:30:53):
but if you continue to put him out in left field.
He's not good out there. You're paying him thirty million
dollars a year. He is an all time tea team legend,
organizational legend. He's got to play somewhere. Yeah, and leftfield's
probably the best way to hide him. But the does
that does that curtailed Zach Decenzo playing more, cam Smith
playing more in your and Alvarez getting some spots in

(01:31:14):
left field. I honestly, to me, he's playing more second
base than I thought he was going to at this point.
He TV, Yeah, I would agree with that. It's been
a smattering. I don't know what you would call it. Occasional,
occasional it works. Twelve forty four. We've got non Flora
stories coming up in forty five minutes. Charles Willie, Dan
Hank Tight will get to all of you next as
the Matt Thomas should ross continues. If you want to

(01:31:35):
jump aboard, get behind those nice folks. Seven one three, two,
one two five seven nine. Non Florida stories are coming
up in forty minutes from now. This is where we
peruse the World Wide Web to find most interesting stories
that pass along to use long as they're not from
the State of Florida. Twelve fifty seven ninety is the station.
The program is the Matt Thomas should ross and let's

(01:31:56):
talk to Charles at twelve fifty high. Charles, thanks for holding.

Speaker 9 (01:32:00):
Hey, how y'all doing good? I agree with that too.
I think they ought to move him in the line
up now.

Speaker 16 (01:32:07):
That's you know, And if I was a hitting coach
for the Astros, that'd start getting a little worried. But
here's here's my biggest issue. The how many times do
you see a picture come out who's for an opposing
pitcher come out, who's obviously doing a great job and
having a great night, get through a six and seven

(01:32:30):
pitch inning.

Speaker 9 (01:32:32):
Ye know, these guys never take a pitch.

Speaker 16 (01:32:34):
And try to do anything to add to get these
guys out of game. Earlier they used to be known for.
You know, during the fifth inning the pitcher has already
got sixty or seventy pitches.

Speaker 9 (01:32:46):
You don't see that anymore.

Speaker 5 (01:32:52):
There.

Speaker 1 (01:32:53):
I mean, they're I don't think. I don't think drawing out.
If they're throwing strikes, it doesn't matter how many pitches
you throw, isn't Don't you believe that?

Speaker 16 (01:33:00):
I mean what I do believe if you swing at
the first strike, you know, then you know, just when
you know, sometimes you got to change your game plan
a little bit.

Speaker 9 (01:33:10):
And honestly, it kind of feels like the Astros don't.

Speaker 1 (01:33:13):
Have a plan.

Speaker 3 (01:33:15):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:33:15):
They have a lineup with a lot of Look, they
did have a lot better walk rights. They had guys
like Michael Brantley, Alex Bregman, those types of guys who
are known for for drawing walks and not striking out.
But right now you look at this lineup, it's a
lot of aggressive guys. Jose al Tuova has always been aggressive.
Jose has never been a guy to drawn a lot
of swings at everything. Uh. I mean, Jake Myers is
trying to get his walk right up to like league average,

(01:33:37):
but he's never been a guy who draws a bunch
of walks. Jordon's pretty good at it, but he's been
out of the lineup right now. Jeremy Payne doesn't take
a lot of walks, Yeah he doesn't, but he's been
doing better this year, so there has been some improvement
in and uptick there. I think it's just a lot
of the guys of the lineup. You know, we talk about, oh,
the lineup back in the day. He used to do this, this,
and this. Well, yeah, you had Kyle Tucker, you had
Alex Bregman, you had Michael Brandley, you had George Springer,

(01:33:59):
you had Carlos correct.

Speaker 3 (01:34:00):
Yeah, I mean, Charles, I just think it's just the
line up.

Speaker 1 (01:34:02):
I just think that these are human beings that just
aren't as good as the previous human beings that were.
I don't I don't necessarily think extending it was an
aficial traphical change. Yeah, there wasn't everybody. It wasn't like
the hitting coaches all said go yeah, guys, go ahead
and swing and everything. It also has to do with
the individuals who were on this team. Yep.

Speaker 9 (01:34:18):
Well let's talk about Bregman.

Speaker 16 (01:34:19):
Okay, Bregman here is a two sixty two seventy hit
or look what he's doing in Boston.

Speaker 1 (01:34:26):
Yes, that's right now. I'm gonna I'm gonna bet you
his numbers come down, Charles number one thing.

Speaker 16 (01:34:32):
I've been been thinking that all year. But he's having
the best start to a season he's ever had. Yeah,
And the only thing is who He's got a different
hitting coach this year.

Speaker 1 (01:34:43):
He's he's Yeah, we addressed this earlier. When he was here,
he had his own personal hitting coach, and I don't
know if that guy is still with him or what
they've changed the way that he's hand loaded his hands
and when he had his his career years that he
had were in eighteen and ninety he was here with
Troy Sniker has been here since, and I know, I

(01:35:03):
think one of them started in nineteen.

Speaker 3 (01:35:04):
I think it was maybe Centron. Yeah, Centrol's the older
of the two.

Speaker 1 (01:35:08):
Both of them have been here since nineteen and that's
when Alex Brigman had his best career of his year
of his career.

Speaker 16 (01:35:16):
All right, I agree, I mean just just but at
some point you got to start looking around saying where's
the problem.

Speaker 9 (01:35:23):
And it can't be totally that you got nine free
swingers on the team.

Speaker 1 (01:35:28):
Well, I mean, let's put in perspective here, would you
rather have had you rather have Kyle Tucker and Alex
Brayman your line up every day or Cam Smith and
Sack Desenzo.

Speaker 9 (01:35:37):
Well, there's no question about that. It's just you know,
you know that's it doesn't matter because that's not gonna happen.

Speaker 16 (01:35:46):
But at the same time, yeah, I don't know, I
just I think if they take a pitch here and there,
you know, you get to the fifth inning, you put
ten or twelve extra pitches on the kind of guy
he's going to get out of the game a little
bit earlier. And right now the Astros pitch the hitters.
There's no nice way to say this. They're just being outclassed.

Speaker 2 (01:36:09):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:36:09):
That's that's That's been the way since the beginning of
the season. Specifically last night, Jacob de Gram is throwing
strikes everywhere, and the Astro's worst swinging early in counts.
It was his pitch count last night, ninety six and
eight innings. Okay, so to the previous call, ninety six
and eight innings. I mean, pretty efficient. That's but it's

(01:36:30):
not overwhelming. It's not like that. It's it's not like
you like, for instance, uh, the previous night, Frober throws
less than ninety over eight, ninety six over anything. If
he was a pitcher, come, if the Gram had to
throw nine, he would have been in the one ten,
one fifteen range to get outs.

Speaker 3 (01:36:46):
That's not overly efficient.

Speaker 1 (01:36:48):
Yeah, Generally, I think of like ten to fifteen pitches
per inning is fairly efficient for a pitcher. Uh, that
would be an eight though, No, fifteen would not be
aficialing because I met efficient but around average now, because
that's one hundred and twenty over eight, that wouldn't I
wouldn't do that. Yeah, so most guys aren't going eight. Yeah,
so yeah, I I I don't think yesterday's example would

(01:37:11):
be one that I would use. I get concerned with
the four pitch at bats, the five pitch it but
you gotta but Altove is gonna free swings, Pain is
gonna free swing Paritis Love's first pitch as well. I mean, yeah,
you kind of you have a built team that way.
A maddox is known as a complete game nine innings

(01:37:32):
under one hundred pitches. That's eleven per inning. And that's
that's thought of his hyper efficient. Yes, so yeah, he
was very efficient last night? Was was Jake? How many
strikes did you throw those those pitchers? You said, I'll
pull it back up, but it was not. I think
it was sixty nine. Yeah, he's out there. If you
can spit on as many pitches as you want, but

(01:37:52):
you do it twice in you're down oh two, you're
in a bad spot against Jake de Grom.

Speaker 3 (01:37:56):
But I think he's talking about the season as a whole.

Speaker 1 (01:37:58):
I agree the walk rate has been there, and also
you need guys who judge the strike zone better. Jake
Myers has been judging the strike zone better. Jeremy pana Man,
he got he he got squeezed on a It was
a down and in on the corner slider from Jake
de Gram That was not a strike. I was. I
was so happy. It's like Jeremy Payne. There was a

(01:38:19):
low and outside slider on the corner and he didn't flint.
He didn't he he didn't swing at it. Unfortunately, he
got called a strike and he struck out. Because I
remember this, but pay he was better for years. You
could throw a slider Jeremy and he wasn't hitting it.
I was very impressed with him laying off of that
specific pitch in that moment. So he has been getting
his walk right up east I Paratus has been walking

(01:38:42):
like crazy. I don't know where the astros and and
what their walk rate is relative to to the major leagues,
but yeah, and then you gotta got it. Yeah, these
these guys aren't turning Zach Deznzo and Mariso Dubon into
Hall of Famers. Oh no, I mean it's also what's
in the lineup. We used to talk about how how
the length of the lineup going seven deep? Right now

(01:39:02):
it's paina and Paradus and a lot of questions. I mean,
you throw Jake Myers in there, that's three. Everybody else
has been bad and worse. And to go back to
the bragmant example, which the previous caller did. And this
is just again, this is what cyclical baseball is. In
the month of April, Alex Bregman batted three point fifty
with an OPS of eleven hundred.

Speaker 3 (01:39:21):
Okay, in the month of May. Granted it's half as long.

Speaker 1 (01:39:27):
Ops is still really good, but it's down nine to
sixty eight, and it's batting average down to two eighty
still again outstting numbers. Yeah, but there is a slight
regression to closer to the norm. His career average of
balls in play is two eighty two. Right now it's
three forty four. That's gonna go down. His numbers are
going to go down. I feel very comfortable. I want

(01:39:48):
him to have all the ls ont too, But also,
I mean, yeah, and Kyle Tucker's numbers you brought up
earlier in the show, there have been crater and huge
usually so you know it did the storyline didn't fit well,
Ragman crushing Tucker crushing Astro a story out of the
gate offensively, I'm just telling you it sometimes comes down
to the talent in which you have. You put a

(01:40:09):
brand new right fielder out there with limited, not limited,
no major league experience, Zach Desnzo, very limited major league experience. Uh,
you moved. You don't have a real second basement offensively, right, No,
Rogers Dubond do not very the load for second base
offensive numbers. They just don't. Rogers is he's got some

(01:40:30):
percent and like hard hit percentages and stuff that hopefully
there there can be some hope there.

Speaker 3 (01:40:35):
But yeah, second base has been a singh hole.

Speaker 1 (01:40:38):
I think the Astros offense improves if they go get
a legitimate second baser and maybe a left handed bat.
I think Dana Brown hasn't hitten the fact he'd let
to get one. All right, final hour of the Matt
Thomas shold Ross will start things off with Willie. We'll
get to the rest of you at seven one three,
two one two five seven nine zero seven one three
two one two five seven ninety astros fall Well nothing

(01:41:01):
Game two with Lance mcculors. How confident Ross are you
and Lance mccullors getting you four innings tonight? Don't answer
that question just yet. Seven one three, two, one two
five seven Inty non flora stories coming up as well,
plus Helly Aaron out all things about the Jaws movie

(01:41:23):
series fifty years ago. This week Jaws hits the movie theaters.
All right, here we go. It is the final hour
of the week. Ross you ready we have done nineteen
hours of amazing major market radio.

Speaker 3 (01:41:36):
We down to fifty five minutes.

Speaker 1 (01:41:38):
Can we make this the most special hour of the
week right here on Sports Talk seventy. I hope you'll
join me for it.

Speaker 3 (01:41:43):
I'm mailing it.

Speaker 1 (01:41:44):
I'll see. I don't think so.

Speaker 3 (01:41:45):
I think you don't.

Speaker 1 (01:41:46):
Come on now, Rossie. We're down the home stretch, baby,
But down the stretch we go. Non flora stories coming up.
Where's your non flora story from from Thailand? It's always
from Thailand. I just made it up. Yeah, I'm trying
to look for I'm trying to find these. My little
bank of stories is good this week, it's not great.
I'm trying to find the definitive great one. Okay, all right,

(01:42:08):
so we got non Florida stories, hell yeah or not?
And your phone call seven one three two one two
five seven Auntie. I threw a question at you. We're
gonnaet to Willie in just one second. So ROSSI, Lance mcculors,
Lance mccullor, Julie. If there was a bet which you
obviously could make on four innings, come on for innings.

Speaker 3 (01:42:32):
Now you're you're mister glass half full guy, and I
appreciate that.

Speaker 1 (01:42:37):
Over over, Okay, if I'm at the actual betting window,
yes you are.

Speaker 3 (01:42:46):
It's a stay away.

Speaker 1 (01:42:47):
No no, no, no no no.

Speaker 3 (01:42:49):
I've given you twenty five dollars.

Speaker 1 (01:42:51):
Twenty five is a kid on the over if you
give you twenty five hundred and we might h into disiness.
I mean, okay, here's the problem. If he doesn't give
you four, which is again, that's not good. It's not
him close to quality and it's not even good. Now.
Granted the bullpen's rested, so that's a big help. But

(01:43:13):
my confidence is low. The confidence would really start to win.
How can my confidence be high? He was okay against
the White Sox, who are one of the worst offensive
teams in baseball.

Speaker 3 (01:43:23):
He was wild, and then he couldn't throw strikes.

Speaker 1 (01:43:25):
The second time he went out there, it was a
disaster and he got completely shelled by the Cincinnati Reds.

Speaker 3 (01:43:29):
Yeah, and he only threw an inning.

Speaker 1 (01:43:31):
I mean, I got one out, not even an inning,
in thirty six pitches.

Speaker 3 (01:43:35):
His arm should be fresh.

Speaker 1 (01:43:39):
I will say this, I'm not gonna be shocked if
he bounces back completely shocked, I'll be surprised. But confidence,
there's no way to have a high level of confidence
in him right now. Yeah, I don't think. I mean,
I don't think people are getting ready to run home
and listen to the game. Obviously goes no local TV
on set. Well, you should be.

Speaker 3 (01:44:00):
I'm curious.

Speaker 1 (01:44:01):
I'll be in my seat watching or listening. I'm because
I'm curious. I'm very curious to see what happens. I
would love I want to There's a difference between curious
and excited five innings people. I think if people are curious,
borderline nervous, he's not gonna go, you know, throw seven
shut out. But if you can give you like five
innings a two run ball, tho would be they be

(01:44:22):
such a stride in the right direction for not only
him personally, but for this team, who needs starting pitching
right now. Gusta was bad the last time out was nesky.
We haven't heard the word yet, but we think it's
gonna be Rhyn with Romi Ron and you need starting pitching,
and you need some offense. And I just think the

(01:44:43):
body of work the forty what forty three games we've
seen so far, that's the thing too. That's gonna make
his leash longer if you can go out there and
score some runs on Native Vald who was very good.
Confidence is low. Confidence is low if you haven't But
if you had me at the bedding win window, I'd
go under Willie on seven on Willie, thanks for holding

(01:45:04):
what's up?

Speaker 15 (01:45:06):
My husband's turning the radio down.

Speaker 1 (01:45:08):
Listen.

Speaker 15 (01:45:09):
I have just rubbed me the wrong way from the
very beginning. And I don't want to be sour grapes.

Speaker 9 (01:45:15):
I mean a lot of this is so our.

Speaker 15 (01:45:17):
But what was wrong with Singleton at first base? We
didn't have to pay him a lot of money to
keep him, and he was a decent replacement. And when
not Bray who went out on the iol, I felt
bad for him. Cut him right before the first game,
and I know he's with the mess in the minor leagues.
I think number two, why is Mac always being benched?

(01:45:38):
They bring him in my pitch runner?

Speaker 1 (01:45:41):
Why is he on the bench?

Speaker 13 (01:45:42):
Why?

Speaker 15 (01:45:43):
And number three, who's Mac McCormick.

Speaker 1 (01:45:47):
Oh, oh, okay, okay, Chaz McCormick, I got you, okay, yeah?

Speaker 15 (01:45:52):
And then and then when when Diaz is not catching,
to have him out as the date And then when
paratiens catching, I mean when Dan is a catching parat DH.
Diaz is not a DH batter. Why why had him
back in again batting? I don't understand.

Speaker 3 (01:46:13):
Who do you want there? Who does a better DH candidate?

Speaker 15 (01:46:17):
Well, you can put Chads in there and try and
not give him some batting time. What's wrong with that?
When Diaz is really you're saying, you know, he's not
really seeing the ball. He can't count on him to hit.

Speaker 1 (01:46:29):
Over their major league careers, he's been the superior hitter.
They're both struggling right now. I don't even know what
is Chas McCormick even hitting at all. I mean, when's
the last time Chas had three at bats in a game?
I don't know. He's been buried on the bench unfortunately,
because well he just hasn't been good. Yeah, thanks Willy
Uh To the second point, Johnson, you knew who John
Singleton was. John Singleton's the foty player. Who's to answer

(01:46:51):
your question? He got he's on the Mats. Amount has
he played on the major league team?

Speaker 6 (01:46:55):
No?

Speaker 1 (01:46:56):
Okay, so was he some hot commodity that that I
can't believe the astra got rid of johnsonles I just
in this particular, I know where Willie's coming from in this.
I think she's going hindsight of this a little bit.
She's going, you're spending all this money on Christian Walker.
He's not doing anything.

Speaker 3 (01:47:09):
Yeah, but it was a great deal on a sign.

Speaker 1 (01:47:10):
But everybody wanted improvement at first base.

Speaker 3 (01:47:14):
Everybody.

Speaker 1 (01:47:15):
Nobody was like, I think John Singleton can carry the
load at first base. He just couldn't and it can't
because he's not doing Nobody picked him up on a
major league rosters on a minor league team, and look,
he did provide some pop and his glove work was
a little bit better last year. But John Singleton's about
a two twenty hitter. Granny, it's been a lot cheaper
if he'd kept him around. You didn't. But you thought

(01:47:37):
Christian Walker, coming off of three straight goal gloves, great
defense and a guy that walked into twenty five home
runs every year, was gonna come in here and do
a nice job. Yeah, you don't have a crystal ball.
You had to replace the production of Tucker and Bregman somewhere.
They did that with Christian Walker at first, rather than
replace one for one and where they were. Yeah, he

(01:47:58):
wasn't supposed to be like this with Jose Brao. Deal
was supposed to be like that. Now there are two
different animals. Christian Walker is younger than Jose Brady was
when he was signed here, and I have more optimism
that he's going to be able to turn this thing around.
Christian Walker has just tremendous more ability. He's struggling minally,

(01:48:18):
but remember four days ago we just talked to Christian
Walker about how he had had a great series against
Cincinnati and oh, by the way, he's a gold Glover.
He's already made He's saved run multiple runs at first base.
And John Singleton was just a guy defensively. Yeah, I'm
I'm just I will there's never an argument in my world,

(01:48:41):
and not that John was a nice young man, but
there's never an argument. I ever thought to myself, man,
John Singleton would have been a better alternative. And Jazz
and Chazz is the last guy on the roster, last
position player on the roster. Well maybe not, Saysars Salazaris.
Oh yeah, that's and Saysar's kind of and then says AR.
Go back to the minor league's one alvarezk it's cleared
off the inter list what or oh what or a

(01:49:09):
young player out of Florida's Florida State who hasn't been playing.
I'm not saying, I'm just saying the only reason why
you would do that is because you do like dhing
Diaz and putting Kratini behind the dish. But with your
when Yourdon's back, you're probably you're trying to dhim five
times a week. So that's why you probably wouldn't do that.

(01:49:33):
You My guess is that you would send Salazar back. Yeah,
I think so. But I think they are mulling over
camp Smith, especially if Decenzo is certain to play on
the team. You've already got one outfooter who already plays.
Decenzo's out playing him right now. Cam Smith has been
great defense but it's not like Descends is doing enough
to necessarily win the job six days a week. Correct, Hm,

(01:49:56):
we need the Astros offense get gone gang, we just.

Speaker 3 (01:49:58):
Do it really helped me out.

Speaker 1 (01:50:01):
I'm not asking for like Aaron Judge numbers or pre
or Yankee one Sodo numbers, but give me something here. Hmmm.
I thought one Soda is getting a little better with
the Mets, and he had a couple of home runs recently.
By the way, they'll be playing at Yankee Stadium tonight.
How do think the the applause will be for one

(01:50:22):
so to one so so has an op ops a
eight forty five? Wow, take are you kidding me?

Speaker 3 (01:50:29):
It's so so for him. We'll retires Jersey after that.

Speaker 1 (01:50:33):

on the Astros is a play game two of it?

Speaker 4 (01:50:45):
What is gonna be?

Speaker 1 (01:50:46):
I think a fairly important series because again, if the
Astros and Rangers are back and forth first place, second place,
hopefully that's the case in the second half of the year,
these individual games could be a huge difference makers when
it comes to the wild Card seven to one three

Speaker 3 (01:51:13):
All right, non.

Speaker 1 (01:51:15):
Florida stories are coming up in ten minutes. Ross Mine,
it's coming to you from Virginia. Where is yours from today?

Speaker 3 (01:51:21):
I told you Thailand?

Speaker 1 (01:51:23):
All right? I always feel like Thailand's acountaby. I might
have to do a late swap though. We'll see. Yeah,
we're we're nine minues away from the segment. We prep
like a mota, and uh, you don't have it ready
to go. I've been very busy doing what believe it
or not? Okay, well that's right it is and yelling
at people on Instagram? Are you still fighting with that count?

(01:51:44):
On that fight?

Speaker 3 (01:51:45):
Can I go look if you want? Is it worthy
of an sports empty theater?

Speaker 4 (01:51:51):
No?

Speaker 1 (01:51:51):
I don't think so, Okay, I'm gonna go look while
we talk to you. Go look at sports RV on Instagram.
George and Cyprus on seven ninety Hello George, George, Hey Georgie, Porgie?

Speaker 15 (01:52:03):
How they go?

Speaker 1 (01:52:04):
How you doing?

Speaker 3 (01:52:05):
How good?

Speaker 1 (01:52:06):
How are you?

Speaker 5 (01:52:07):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (01:52:08):
Not too bad? I already talked to Jonathan, so we're
good to go.

Speaker 3 (01:52:11):
All right, all right, we'll talk to you later.

Speaker 5 (01:52:15):
Hey, I want to bring something up man, Please, why
why is uh? Why is Lance mccullors being a starter?
He should be like middle reliever, maybe before the eighth inning,
guy seventh inning.

Speaker 1 (01:52:30):
He shouldn't be.

Speaker 5 (01:52:30):
Starting, man, because then you gotta you have to Like
now Joe Spotta is forced to use this boatpen and
go deep Like why, I don't understand why.

Speaker 1 (01:52:41):
Well, the plan normally isn't for him to just get
one out. He's making eighteen million dollars a year. They
need starting pitching help. But he's not a starter anymore.

Speaker 5 (01:52:51):
He's been a starter his whole career. I understand, but
I mean he doesn't look like that anymore. Well, we
know that, I mean to the same.

Speaker 1 (01:53:00):
Game as you are. We can come out of the
bullpen and give up one run in seven innings. I mean,
excusey seven innings, seven runs in a third of an inning.

Speaker 3 (01:53:07):
He can do that in the bullpen too.

Speaker 1 (01:53:08):
I mean, I'm not going to argue with you that
I think his future still is in the bullpen is
perhaps a one any guy, but they're trying to do
everything they can to bring him back to what he
was at the starting pitcher. And I don't think when
he first came back two starts ago. We were thinking
he was gonna be an Indy and guy to begin with.
I think he's gonna be in a pitch count. I
think getting to five innings at this point would be
a nice part of his resurrection and coming back from injury.

(01:53:28):
But yeah, he's not done so far. It had been
two first of all, one off performance and one below
average performance. That's right. I mean I can't argue that.

Speaker 5 (01:53:37):
Well, it's like it's like the Rockets bringing in Jeff
Green as a starter.

Speaker 1 (01:53:41):
It doesn't make sense. That's not an example at all. No,
he's not forty years old, and he's not one that
he's not one of the highest paid players on the team. Well,
I don't know. We need to do something about that. Good,
all right, thank you the long run. Yeah, George, look,
I understand and Matt, you and I have talked about

(01:54:03):
this and him being in relief. First of all, he
has always walked too many guys to really come in
and be like a leverage guy. He's never been asked
to do it. He wants to be a starter. Your
best return on investment. You've look, it's been a sun
cost the last two years. It just has He's made
eighteen and sixteen million dollars to do nothing. So your
best return to a way to get a return on

(01:54:23):
the investment is to give him every shot to be
a good starting pitcher. And as you mentioned, Matt, it's hard.
Conversations may have to be had and a move to
the bullpen could be on the horizon. But I don't
even know if that's a lot. I mean, either you
get out, so you don't, and he's having a different
time getting out. So would they even trade him away

(01:54:43):
giving paying the vast majority of his salary to try
to get further under the tax and possibly make some
moves at the deadline that could happen the scenario I'm
thinking about. I want to mention on air, what DFA,
we're talking about execution or something?

Speaker 4 (01:54:59):
All right?

Speaker 15 (01:55:00):
No?

Speaker 1 (01:55:00):
No, no, okay seven one three two one two five
seven ninety seven one three No execution, dough.

Speaker 3 (01:55:07):
Let's talk about like something sinister. No, it wasn't, Senator.

Speaker 1 (01:55:10):
I just don't want to put something in the conversation
that I hopefully doesn't come down the ether. Yeah, but
because people will misunderstand it, I just want to say
that he's been given a lead. It's just gonna be
you can't continue to do this for another month or so. Well,
you hit the astro's hand could be forced if he
goes out there and gets shelled three more to two,
three more times or something. You don't have a choice.
You don't have a choice because you've you've given him

(01:55:32):
every opportunity. Like I said, nothing's gonna be determined after tonight.
Just give us five innings a two run by. I
think we can put this off. I think July first
will be an important kind of a check the results card.

Speaker 3 (01:55:45):
June first, Yeah, James on seven ninety, Hello James.

Speaker 9 (01:55:51):
Hey, what's going on?

Speaker 1 (01:55:52):
You tell us?

Speaker 14 (01:55:53):
Hey?

Speaker 1 (01:55:53):
Well, I got a.

Speaker 14 (01:55:55):
Little confession to make to you.

Speaker 3 (01:55:56):
Matt, please do okay?

Speaker 9 (01:55:58):
Well I called.

Speaker 1 (01:56:00):
I called a few.

Speaker 14 (01:56:00):
Days ago, and James is my middle name. My first
name is Paul.

Speaker 1 (01:56:07):
Hi, Paul, Hello Paul, James. Yeah, I called you the
other day.

Speaker 14 (01:56:11):
Man, I got a little out of the line. I
get a little animated sometimes when I talk about sports.

Speaker 3 (01:56:16):
Oh wait a minute, I thought your name is Paul.
We kept calling you something else.

Speaker 14 (01:56:21):
Yeah, well, Paul, my first name, James is my second nine.

Speaker 1 (01:56:26):
You were you were the one screaming at Matt saying
you didn't know what he's talking about, called me an idiot.
I think I called you an idiot. PJ a clown,
a clown.

Speaker 3 (01:56:34):
Okay, I'm a clown.

Speaker 4 (01:56:35):
You know what he is?

Speaker 1 (01:56:36):
A clown? Maybe maybe PJ am I'm gonna call you PJ.

Speaker 3 (01:56:39):
By the way, this is great.

Speaker 1 (01:56:40):
You guys are making it. You guys are because this
is we talk about sports. We ain't talking about reinventing
the wheel here.

Speaker 3 (01:56:45):
We're not talking about microbiotics, no, none of that stuff.

Speaker 14 (01:56:50):
Right, Well, obviously, obviously the Rockets do need to do
a little something, you know. Uh And and I'm sure
they're going to make a play for ns. Matter of fact,
my son heard that there was something out there that
that was Sengoon and Amon Thompson for y'all in the
number ten pick for Jannis.

Speaker 9 (01:57:11):
I mean, they're gonna have to make, you know, some
kind of change.

Speaker 14 (01:57:14):
But I want to just say this about you, of
H I may have I may have a little something
on you, on you, of ahed Do you remember who
the original Twin.

Speaker 9 (01:57:28):
Towers were.

Speaker 1 (01:57:32):
In college? Can you give me the year.

Speaker 9 (01:57:36):
Seventy three?

Speaker 14 (01:57:37):
It was either before If it was before before New
Year's it was seventy three. If it was after, it
was seventy four, they played you of aged played Jacksonville
State at home, and it was artist Gilmore and Pembrook Burroughs.

Speaker 3 (01:57:55):
That played at the university. Played at Jacksonville University.

Speaker 1 (01:57:58):
Yes, and they played at you of a.

Speaker 3 (01:58:00):
H Well, I was only I was only a year
and a half old, so I was not there.

Speaker 15 (01:58:05):
I was.

Speaker 1 (01:58:05):
I was.

Speaker 16 (01:58:06):
I was.

Speaker 9 (01:58:06):
I'm sixty nine, so I was.

Speaker 15 (01:58:08):
I was.

Speaker 9 (01:58:10):
But the story is, you'll never guess who I went
to that game with.

Speaker 1 (01:58:17):
So you're saying I will never guess Lyndon B. Johnson,
I'm gonna say you went with uh sixty. I want
to say you went with Marvin Zindler.

Speaker 9 (01:58:28):
I went with Tilden for Tita.

Speaker 3 (01:58:30):
Oh wow?

Speaker 1 (01:58:31):
Really Paul James Huh?

Speaker 13 (01:58:32):
Now?

Speaker 3 (01:58:33):
Was how old was he?

Speaker 9 (01:58:36):
We're one year apart?

Speaker 3 (01:58:37):
And what y'all school?

Speaker 9 (01:58:40):
Yes, we went to high school together.

Speaker 1 (01:58:42):
We're family friends.

Speaker 14 (01:58:43):
Matter of fact, in nineteen sixty one, when Hurricane Carl
hit Galveston, I spent four days with the Fortitas and
several other families in Houston.

Speaker 3 (01:58:53):
So did you realize back then have you worth ten
billion dollars?

Speaker 1 (01:58:58):
If I did, I wouldn't not probably be talking to
you on the phone, right, that's true. Hey, we gotta
roll over a break, Paul, You're not an idiot. We
love you like a stepbrother or maybe an older grandfather. Uh,

the way, Microbotics is a company that supplements vitamins and
other types of things. So Microbotics, indeed, is a you're

(01:59:18):
trying you're trying to give yourself credit.

Speaker 3 (01:59:20):

Speaker 1 (01:59:21):
Gonna go with antibiotics or microbiology. Uh no, google microbotics,

Speaker 3 (02:00:16):

Speaker 1 (02:00:20):
Okay, thanks Joe Ross. I think it's gonna be fifty
to fifty. I think I don't think they're gonna they're
they're aspiring to do make a deal, but they're gonna
get a deal that they're gonna go. Oh okay when
you think.

Speaker 3 (02:00:33):
About it, I don't think they're gonna rock the boat.
I'll stick with that.

Speaker 1 (02:00:36):
I would lean towards the same thing I think they're gonna.
I think a lot of this is just is just
good off season stargazing, right.

Speaker 7 (02:00:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:00:44):
You know, Matt, when you rock the boat, you could
tip the boat over, and I think they don't want
to do that. Can you go on with your bad
self still? I think so, oh yeah, oh yay, oh yay.
You know what, I want to apologize on a Friday,
I don't Non Florida stories coming up next, Non fat

got okay, Okay, we go. I want to introduce you.

Speaker 3 (02:01:30):
To Carletta Andrews, Boys and Girls.

Speaker 1 (02:01:33):
She was about to take a sip from her margarita
at Petron Mexican Restaurant and Cantina in Sanston, Virginia.

Speaker 3 (02:01:40):
Oh wow, I heard the margaritas are the best over there.

Speaker 1 (02:01:44):
Something struck her on the forehead, reported WRIIC Channel eight News.
Oh no, I looked at my husband like, what was that?
Miss Andrews said. When I turn around, I saw a
snake in my margarita. What the baby snake which had fallen,
which had fallen from the ceiling, wiggled in the glass
and wrapped itself around the straw as restaurant workers.

Speaker 3 (02:02:08):
Attempted to remove it with a stick. This is sick.

Speaker 1 (02:02:11):
Another customer was able to grab the snake and set
it free outside the staff offered to move Andrews to
a booth, but the shaken patron chose to leave instead.
The owner of the restaurant suspects the snake entered to
the ac unit, but Andrews was left to wonder, quote
if that was the baby?

Speaker 3 (02:02:27):
Is the mom there?

Speaker 15 (02:02:29):
So?

Speaker 1 (02:02:29):
Getting a snake in your margarita not preferred. No word
is whether or not she got took home nachos for
dinner or enchiladags.

Speaker 4 (02:02:37):
I would kill your entire buzz, I would.

Speaker 3 (02:02:39):
Think so, Gusty Jonathan vera snake in your margarita?

Speaker 1 (02:02:44):
God forget.

Speaker 3 (02:02:46):
And that's my first non Florida stork. Let me get
one out of the way.

Speaker 1 (02:02:49):
Please do Let me take you to a place that
I know you love, Slidell, Louisiana. Around five pm on
May eleventh, the police were called to a Low's parking lot.

(02:03:14):
Of course, we crack ourselves up. I know, I'm personally
very happy with my snake and my margarita. Stur officers
arrived at the scene after reports of a trespasser in
one of the sheds on display outside of the lows.

(02:03:34):
Witnesses reported a naked mail inside of one of the
stores outdoor tool sheds, which are typically used to show
customers options for purchase.

Speaker 3 (02:03:43):
Oh, you've purchased that, all right?

Speaker 1 (02:03:45):
Around shed four or five, as the officers are going
door to door, they located the suspect lying on his back,
pants around his ankles and using a container of.

Speaker 3 (02:04:01):
Vasolene.

Speaker 1 (02:04:03):
You can probably figure out what he was doing.

Speaker 3 (02:04:06):
Fast forward, fast forward, fast forward.

Speaker 1 (02:04:07):
The police ordered the man to pull up his pants
and to roll onto his stomach. This is key, although
that might have been painful at the moment, and to
be handcuffed. The man thankfully complied without resistance. So he
went to a home depot of you know what, what
was a Lows. So he went to a Low's shed
with vasaline and electronic device as well. And the police

(02:04:37):
did not release his name, but said he was not
a slide down Louisiana native because that would not make
it okay, I was gonna say. The man admitted to
his actions, telling the officers he was watching YouTube. He
was arrested on account of obscenity and booked into jail.
You can get aroused off of YouTube. Oh he wasn't YouTube.

Speaker 3 (02:04:55):
Was you work hard enough?

Speaker 1 (02:04:58):
What did you just say?

Speaker 3 (02:05:01):
If you lock in?

Speaker 5 (02:05:05):
All right?

Speaker 1 (02:05:06):
Jonathan your next and I got one more, all right,
so I'm reporting.

Speaker 4 (02:05:10):
The Guardian reported that Lorona Rook out here in London, England,
was with where coworkers. On May seven, twenty one. Partner
coworkers were asked to Partici to participate in a team
building exercise featuring a Star Wars theme questionnaire that will
reveal which carriedter from the sci fi franchise their personality
most resembled. Okay, Lorena didn't want to participate in it,

(02:05:32):
but later found out her coworkers put it in. Any way,
no big deal, right. The results come up as a
sith Lord due to the quiz described that her as
Bader as very focused individual. Rooke called the comparison highly
unflattering and said it made her super unpilate popular where
she had to quit a month later. So we fast
forward twenty twenty five. She sued them and as a

(02:05:53):
judge rewarded the award of the case and she got
one forty thousand dollars from the company because.

Speaker 1 (02:05:58):
Of this forty thousand dollars calling a sixth.

Speaker 4 (02:06:01):
Rounds because you got called dark Vada at work and
it's heart fields round.

Speaker 3 (02:06:03):
Oh all right, real quick, who's a Darth Vader of
seven ninety?

Speaker 1 (02:06:09):
Well, off the top rope, Off the top rope.

Speaker 3 (02:06:15):
Jonathan, I can't believe you just said it so fast.

Speaker 2 (02:06:20):
Oh that's big one on him coming to honey, whoa
right off the top rope?

Speaker 5 (02:06:29):
Wow? Wow?

Speaker 1 (02:06:35):
Two to six weekdays the Dove Vita of seven ninety

you sure? I mean, come on, where's your head?

Speaker 15 (02:06:51):
Ball?

Speaker 1 (02:06:52):
Sax Sports? Are you sure?

Speaker 13 (02:06:54):
I mean?

Speaker 9 (02:06:54):
Come on, where's your head?

Speaker 1 (02:06:57):
M I believe the nuts will be getting cred to
this weekend. I do not shoot the video from in
front of me and nothing on my chest to jiggles
in that manner.

Speaker 3 (02:07:09):
So it is not a it's not a proprietary issue.
You think your views are is high?

Speaker 1 (02:07:19):
I believe nuts will be getting cracked this weekend. The
Darth Vader of seven ninety. That may stick.

Speaker 3 (02:07:28):
I don't know if he's gonna get that because he's
may not listen to me listening right now?

Speaker 1 (02:07:33):
All right?

Speaker 3 (02:07:34):
My last story, you guys ready, last one.

Speaker 1 (02:07:36):
I don't know what this is.

Speaker 3 (02:07:37):
I'm just looking for a clean, germ free studio for
a few hours. Well, guess what poor wexer.

Speaker 1 (02:07:42):
There's been sucking eye.

Speaker 3 (02:07:44):
I've been wiping it down every day.

Speaker 1 (02:07:49):
A recent Southwest Airlines flight was met by law enforcementor
landing in Chicago. Ross and Jonathan, you say, but what
please remove to passenger who would stripped naked on the
plane and defecated in her seat?

Speaker 4 (02:08:04):
Oh man, where'd you get these ones today?

Speaker 1 (02:08:08):
What's wrong with you?

Speaker 3 (02:08:08):
How come every other story of yours involves defication?

Speaker 1 (02:08:11):
You're sick? When asked about why the woman did it,
she said it was a blanky flight. Put I've made
that part of Southwest issue to statement say quote, nothing
is more important to Southwest than the safety of our

(02:08:31):
customers and deployees, and we appreciate the professionalism of our
flight crew. What professionalism? Could you imagine? You're on your
plane going to Kansas City on Dark Breast Airlines and
somebody gets naked and drops trial right next to you.
I mean, do friends then fly free on this thing?

(02:08:53):
I mean, how many rapid reward points you get off
of that hopefully unlimited? God, yeah, she got arrested. We
can't drop a deuce on the plane and not get arrested.
This's in the bathroom. So the recap we have a
Darth Vader in person characterization at a workplace that costs
the company forty thousand dollars. I got a Southwest Airlines

(02:09:15):
dropping trout on a seat. We got a snake in
a Margarine and Ross. What was yours about?

Speaker 5 (02:09:19):

Speaker 12 (02:09:38):
Oh I don't think I have any nasty stories like that.

Speaker 1 (02:09:41):
Top that one, all right.

Speaker 12 (02:09:42):
I was actually gonna talk about the astros man. I'm
actually on my way to Arlington right now?

Speaker 3 (02:09:47):
Are you driving this exact second?

Speaker 12 (02:09:49):
Actually pulled on the driveway picking up the wife, and
then we're hitting the forty five right after that, So
I should be hitting the saying that AIRBNBB. I should
get there probably around five ish.

Speaker 3 (02:10:00):
Okay. Now is she a baseball fan like yourself or
she just being a good wife.

Speaker 12 (02:10:04):
I've actually made her one man. We've been together for
about six years.

Speaker 3 (02:10:07):
Oh, congratulations.

Speaker 9 (02:10:09):
I think she kind of liked the Dodgers a little
bit what whoa whoa?

Speaker 12 (02:10:13):
Yeah, man, I had to convert her quick man.

Speaker 1 (02:10:16):
She's a big she a California girl.

Speaker 12 (02:10:18):
She lived there for a little bit, grown up, so
that was her whole ties and no one ever took
it her a game, so I started taking her.

Speaker 3 (02:10:24):
And she doesn't believe in violence because she's a Dodger fan.

Speaker 1 (02:10:26):
Correct. No, she's not one of those girls.

Speaker 3 (02:10:29):
Okay, good, good, good, Well, Hey be careful.

Speaker 1 (02:10:32):
I want you to call us back on Monday, Michael,
and give us the most interesting thing in the howling
there for the entire weekend or just for tonight.

Speaker 3 (02:10:38):
Yeah, I'm going to the weekend. I'm going to that
Texas Live.

Speaker 9 (02:10:41):
You were asking about that.

Speaker 12 (02:10:42):
A couple of days ago.

Speaker 1 (02:10:43):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 12 (02:10:45):

to live vicariously through you.

Speaker 4 (02:11:06):
Maybe I'll see some rowdy Ranger fans.

Speaker 3 (02:11:08):
