Is The Matt Thomas Show with Ross ten oh.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
One an Age Town.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
Good morning, and welcome to a Friday edition of The
Matt Thomas Show with Ross. This sis Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Oh yeah, that's a jam. He's the one that's going
on yourself one on whopper two run rings. Then you
get it four or five dollars, then you shove it
in your mouth, then you get sick. Big kay. Oh
hell no, I don't want to meet that guy.

Speaker 4 (00:50):
You know, I'd rather look at you have a conversation.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Didn't have it to like, you know, how are you
gonna get neck kisses in though you're sitting next to you?

Speaker 4 (00:57):
Why are you at Really's having next?

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Why are you not? What do you mean you you
neck kiss at Bapplebee's. I don't know if you know
this or not. We mentioned it very briefly on the
show yesterday, the w w E raw was it Tota
Center last night? Oh man, it was a great one.

(01:21):
It was a fair part of it when that guy
oiled up guy pinned the other oiled up guy in
his underwear.

Speaker 5 (01:34):
But this thing has brought a lot of joy to
the rest of us, so that it was hilarious, Like
if you and I were to caress like that, take
a photo of it.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Why would you go in this direction? It would we
just swarved so far off the path. Why they putting
Meghane Stallion from the Astros game on. Wait a minute, wait,
you're crushing me earlier. All okay, hey Megan, thee stallion
that you're around, It's like I could eat ribs twice

(02:13):
a week comfortably.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
I could eat sausage twice a week.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
Oh jeez, you know what.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Don't ever listen to me. Ever, I'm wrong too often?
Can you clip that for future purpose? And you're gonna
say that it's time for four hours.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
Of Texans traraining cap news.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
Maybe not.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Let's go, baby, No, I'm built for this. That's boring.
Oh that is. It's not entertaining. We got other things
to get to. We're way more entertaining than guys inside
the bubble working on Texan training camp with the rain
over there and over NRG. Well, uh, football is king, Matt,
it is king. Well, it's king with cities that go

(03:01):
to the Super Bowl, and the Texans are the sleeping giant.
They have been heavily sedated for a while. They're like
send her away for the prince to kiss them. I
think that's whatever. Robert McNair ate a bad apple, a
poisoned apple. Fortunately, all the things snow White's been kissing.
It was one of those Dwarfs. I can say, Dwarfs,
it's Matt No, no, I can say it's not No,

(03:25):
it's snow White in the Seven Little Person. No, no, no, no,
it's snow White the Seven Dwarfs. Doc is gonna come
knock you out as long as sleep he's available. But okay,
Grumpy's gonna come knock you out. I guess would have
been the battle. I think I've been working with Grumpy. Start. Yeah,
good morning everybody, ten o five on this kind of
what's the weather's not gonna be good? Today's supposed to

(03:45):
run like a mudda. Oh the weather's bad in Houston, Texas. No,
you need your general stand by generator to listen to
this radio, just saying throwing that out there. Uh, we
have a interesting show for you today. I feel like
we're inching. I've never come in here and go what
the hell we're gonna talk about?

Speaker 6 (04:01):
Now?

Speaker 1 (04:01):
There are some days that are media and others. You
have an intimate knowledge and breakdown of everything in last
night's A's Astros game. Yeah, you want the full breakdown,
I'll let you know. Well, I mean the Jason Alexander
stuff wasn't great. He got beat up a little bit. Yes,
and Mason Miller threw I think a pitch one hundred

(04:23):
and sixty four miles an hour last night one hundred
and four point one, the fastest in the stat cast
era at dyk In Park that began in two thousand
and eight. Do you think and I think I know
the answer to this. I'll go ahead and say the answer,
like on Jeopardy. The answer is no, are all speed
guns calibrated the same? I say, no, they are. It's
since statcast. Really before it's not speed guns. Yeah, I'm sorry.

(04:47):
Before it was different. Yeah, people would have the gun
behind home play or somewhere else or whatever. So yes,
it was much more inconsistent in the seventies, eighties, and nineties.
This is actually a big baseball nerd argument. Actually, really,
what are they arguing about. I don't know, just vlos
and whether or not they've gone up and stuff like that.
But a lot of people agree that that people do

(05:09):
throw harder now. But then some people argue, well, Uh,
Robin Hummel in the nineteen forties, he threw as fast
as a bullet train. I saw him throw faster than Secretariat.
I don't know. You know, it's funny. You should have
taken John Lovetz's role in a league of their own
because the phrasing that you use John Lovett's basically got

(05:32):
ten minutes of a movie out of it. Uh huh,
So that was you, That was your miscalling there. Uh,
when I was a kid. You know, I don't want
to say way back in the day because that makes
you sound like, oh, but honestly, I was a kid.
We were all kids at some point. You could watch
Dodger games. Why did I say Robert Humble? They don't
think of Cooper Humble meant Bob Feller. But anyways, good

(05:55):
you said. Lefty Grove could have said that too. There
was a guy at Dodger games that were a white
hat in a suit, and he would point the gun
every time somebody would pitch from a team.

Speaker 4 (06:06):
And if you.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Watch Dodger games in the seventies and eighties, I don't
know if he did it much in the nineties, but
you would never not see a Dodger game without that
guy pointing guy, and he had like a super expensive,
like right now, five hundred dollars seat doing that. So
maybe that's part of the reason why I was like, yeah,
we can't have speed gun guy getting good seats. Yeah,
they don't. They don't use speed guns anymore to my
knowledge or at least everything is consistent.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
I'll put it that way.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
We'll put it this way. How about do they think
they use stack cast in the monor leagues. I mean,
you're telling you now they didn't used to. So there's
no So I can't buy a speed gun if I
wanted to, Oh you can, I guess I gonna go
to the thrift shop. Got a nice estate sale coming up,
I want to think, go on eBay and get one. Sure,
and just you know, radar gun. I don't know to
police use them anymore, I don't think so maybe well

(06:50):
they're doing fifty nine apparently not where I'm driving home,
but we'll come and get you.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
They should, all right.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
Ten o eight on Sports Talk seven ninety it is
the Matt thomashel Ross. We are with you today until
two o'clock. Brian Mcanow, who didn't tell me he wasn't
available yesterday. I had to find out through the United app.
I saw him at the game. Yeah, and he will
join us today at eleven o'clock. Do you guys break
bread last night?

Speaker 7 (07:11):
No?

Speaker 1 (07:12):
Why not? All the Beat reporters were complaining about how
tired they were because they flew in this morning and
then they had to work again.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
Poor guys.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
How was media dining last night? It is funny you
asked that it was one of the worst nights of
the year. What was on the It was like grilled
drumsticks and stewed cauliflower.

Speaker 4 (07:31):
Really, and now they had a baked potato station.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
But I didn't want to do all that. It's funny
because we've been ordering these meals. I don't want a
gut bomb. We've been prepackaging these meals. Uh huh, who's
we Thomas fam. A matter of fact, all of us
have it. And one of the main stays they put
in these meals, which I do not like, is califlower rice.
Oh it's not that it's better for you. Oh, it's

(07:57):
for sure better for you. But there are some things
in life that I would rather have none of it
than have the faue. I understand, and I don't think.
There's a lot of things. But cauliflower rice to me
is it's just, first of all, is flavorless. And I
guess you could put salt and pepper on it. What
you can flavor it, Matt. Yeah, it's still a tough eat.
Don't don't even clip that. No, that's fine. Don't say

(08:20):
yeah because I agree, because I mean, like, for instance,
I like in theory, I think brown rice is probably
a little bit better than you, for you than what rice.
I can eat brown rice without a problem. Yeah, I
think cauliflower rice is still better. I'm sure. Yeah, it's
just there's it's just not very delicious. And my life

(08:40):
at fifty whatever I am, I'm gonna eat delicious cauliflower.
Cauliflower rice. Stir fries not bad because, as you said,
you flavor it, you get a little. I have lots
of protein, soy sauce, some hoists and sauce.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Perhaps you stir fries, some broccoli.

Speaker 4 (08:52):
But the problem is put a lot of put a
lot of that soy sauce in it, and then your
sodium and.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
Take the low sodium soy sauce and don't put that much. Matt. Sorry,
you got to take care of yourself. You know what, No,
actually go to the high sodio.

Speaker 6 (09:03):
Matt.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
You always want to make you illness die, but you
just want me to have it. I'd be really sad
if he died for a few minutes. Yeah, you know
what that brings me to. Are sorry?

Speaker 4 (09:15):
It's coming up at eleven eleven thirty. Of god, I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
I have to apologize and not to you to something
had happened then? When did it happened recently? Oh it's
involving this show. We'll find out, all right, So eleven o'clock.
Brian McTaggart, eleven thirty your chance to apologize.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
For the week that you were. I'm sorry.

Speaker 5 (09:34):
Uh, I'm sorry for telling you to get high sodium.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
Maybe maybe you should be sorry for all the Hulk
Hogan hate you had out there. Man, maybe you're onto something,
because look, nobody's perfect and the things that he got
fired for were horrendous.

Speaker 4 (09:55):
I mean horrendous. There was a lot of grave dancing
on it.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
There. There was actually a fair amount of both. Oh,
there's a ton of there was there was there was
the combination last on the Hulk Hogan was Oh my god,
amember my childhood I grew up watching his dad. There
was a section of this guy said all terrible, horrible things,
which he absolutely did, go to hell, and then there
was I'm really sorry that he said what he said,

(10:23):
but he tried to atone for it, and blah blah blah,
God resth. So it was it's just like.

Speaker 4 (10:27):
With anybody's death.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
I mean, the only person that's going that ultimately is
going to die that no one's gonna say aything bad
about is Adam Wexer.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
Everybody else is going to have something bad to say.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
Well, we'd have to talk to his family for that.
I think even people were trying to cancel Mother Teresa,
weren't they. Like when the Pope died, nobody said anything
bad about the pope. So people are anti Catholic, you know,
the whole abuse cover up thing for a while. Yeah,
But but that pope wasn't attached to that that I
know of. That's true, all right. It isn't anything goes
Friday here on the radio show, as you can clearly

(10:57):
tell in the opening moments of the program seven one two,
one two five seven, Auntie, We'll get to the astros yesterday.
I mean, honestly, ross A Blase game to say, the
very least kind of expected. You play the day game,
you finish the sweep, you got the lowly as coming in.
You can't play that. You can't win every game was

(11:18):
was it was it on the tee that kind of
get a little bit of a kick in the you
know what, Yeah, the full one sixty two. As you know, Matt,
you'll get some thrillers, you'll get some stinkers, You'll get
some blah. That was blah, It was black last night.
Are we a little worried about Cam Smith at all?
I'll tell you when we come back ten thirteen The
Matt Thomas Show with Ross seven one three two one

(11:40):
two five seven untie And oh, by the way, the
trade winds are flown in the American League West? Does
that give Dana Brown calls for concern? Seven one three
two one two five seven NUNTI all right, I brought
a question up to you about, uh, our favorite right

(12:00):
fielder who's having a very productive rookie out. No, he's
with the Chicago Cubs, Okay, and you're gonna lose a
bet on how much money he's going to Uh how
many years?

Speaker 6 (12:12):
Lunch?

Speaker 2 (12:12):
How many years are gonna get.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
Seven and a half. Yeah, you're still taking the under.
I mean it could be seven. Okay, you want to
still be a win. Okay, you want up from home?
We get bachi. The problem is what do you do
from bachi? Do you go frozen yogurt for a dessert after?

Speaker 2 (12:26):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (12:27):
Okay, you want to go to the creamery after. I
know there's a couple of nice ones around town. Hmm, yeah,
have a little cherry on top of that. Bet let's go.
We're gonna be so full that I think. Well, okay,
let's let's do a drive through before the show starts. Breakfast.

(12:51):
We already did drive through bet On. We have a
drive through bet On yrdne ever plays one hundred and
thirty games. Yeah, that's drive through and includes Jonathan. We'll
get him breakfast too, because we don't even go to McDonald's.
Apparently pisses people off when he goes to that's true,
and he's very confrontational. We had to work on your
anger issues. Very mellow guy. That doesn't sound like it.
But if you mess with me, I'm I'm just going

(13:12):
to make sure you know.

Speaker 4 (13:14):
Okay, all right, So it's three combo meals on the
line for the edit.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
We're going to add the to the to the uh
the to the Kyle Tucker bat three combo meals. That's
that's an extra twenty three. Okay, nobody's that we First
of all, we hardly ever even pay off on these things.
It takes hours and I mean years and months because
you're always busy and try to especially when you win. Somehow,
it's always hung over my.

Speaker 4 (13:38):
Head longer.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
Stay with me, Sorry, we're gonna up it or no, yes,
additional Okay, so how about just one drive through? You
would do three for three of us for the breakfast.
Three of us sounds like three drive through meals. It's
a lot, I see.

Speaker 4 (13:58):
No, no, no, no, no, okay, let's do it all right,
the deal.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
Let's drive through for whoever our producer is at the time. Yeah,
provided you're still with us. We want you here. We
don't think you're gonna die, but you probably could spend
a better job benefits in a way that got dark
you trying to get him whok Cogan, f wa hold
on thousand and nine with him yesterday. I've been down there.
You've lost a lot of weight. I have lost good. Yeah,

(14:23):
somebody's like you look like you were because the Hulk
is six eight. We were actually sitting on a six eight.
Yeah he is, Yeah, he's six eight. Was okay, you
were standing on something. We were sitting on a table. Okay,
So there's no way I was like somebody said you
like six three. No, I'm I'm six one, and that
may be even a tinge generous. Was he build at
six eight or was he actually six eight? I think

(14:43):
he was really six eight. I've never I only talked
to him one time in person, and he was obviously
a hulking figure.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
That's the name, okay, okay?

Speaker 1 (14:53):
And then Holgan for Vince McMahon. Is it a nice
io in wwe? Uh yeah, he said six to seven.
But yeah, okay, I'll give him six eight. Was he
build at nine foot No? I think he was build
at six aight? All right?

Speaker 4 (15:05):
So going to cam Smith, what are you thinking? Is
he going through the man?

Speaker 1 (15:10):
It's a lot of AB's. He's hitting the rookie wall. Yeah,
he's gonna be fine. Hopefully he can power through it.
Chandler Rome put out a good article about how the
Astros try to limit him. He is a gym rat.
He wants to be in the cage. He wants to
take the first game. You know how they do this
in the NBA as well. There's first bus, second bus,
third bus, right, so they put him on the later
bus because he wants to take the first one to

(15:32):
get out there and work and do everything. He's a perfectionist,
all this stuff, and it's kind of wearing on him.
They're working on it, they're aware of it. He got
the All Star break for a little bit of rest.
He's never played. I mean, the step up is insane,
and it is the same in the NBA. You go
from playing twenty five thirty college games whatever it is,

(15:52):
to eighty two games, and we see it with NBA players. Well,
it's almost like being in the gym too early or
going or like during the summertime. There are some parts
of an NBA season or off season where you shouldn't
be shooting a basketball. Yeah, exactly. He shouldn't be working
as hard as he has. The astros are aware of it,
they're working on it. He's never played. I can't remember

(16:14):
what the number was, but it was something like fifty
games with Florida State, and you know they get a
bunch of days off in between yeah, they only playing
on Thursdays or play with midwe the weekend exactly exactly,
So I mean the krind of one hundred and sixty
two game season is just something else. So he'll be fine.
I think he can push through the rookie wall. But
that's what's happening to him right now. I think, yeah,

(16:36):
so that third I'm a third bus guy myself, so
I totally you don't get those early shots that Matt.
Come on, man, you're not putting up, You're not putting
in network. That's what your free throw percentage is suffering.
I've given you what my life is like on the road,
right Yay. You could say at a fancy hotels, don't
really go and see the sites of the city and
then you go to the games. I've been to Denver

(16:56):
thirty five times in nine years? Can I can I
not go to the same I mean to go I
mean there's one place I normally go.

Speaker 4 (17:01):
But that's how many hikes have you been on?

Speaker 1 (17:04):
Zero? Okay, but I'm in a hiker go on a
little three mile hike. How about I go for a
walking downtown at your legs?

Speaker 4 (17:12):
Nido?

Speaker 2 (17:12):
Is that good?

Speaker 6 (17:13):
That?

Speaker 4 (17:13):
Don't take care of it. Okay, I walk up the
mountain of the casino. I do that.

Speaker 1 (17:18):
How many times you been the casino?

Speaker 4 (17:21):
Three or four?

Speaker 2 (17:22):
Yeah, exactly, that number.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
Shouldn't be that skewed. The seesaw shouldn't be that high
the casino side there it is.

Speaker 4 (17:30):
It is in the mountains. You have to walk up
to the casino.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
So it is what it is.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
Okay, where are we going with this, Craig? Okay, so
the last So my routine is this. If I'm in
the Central time zone ten to two the show m hmm,
I will try to either eat something or take a
nap right at at two o'clock, get up at three thirty, prepare,
and then we usually the bust will probably leave at
four forty five, five o'clock. We have to get the

(17:55):
arena coach and I talk at five thirty. In the
games at seven, So you know, it's a year. It's
a pattern of routine, okay. And I might go on
one hike, but he's he's a he goes in that
eleven twelve mile range. Just tell him to be you know,
when you're hiking with people who aren't experienced, you just
go out there pace.

Speaker 4 (18:15):
But he doesn't work except the games. I have to
do the four hour show.

Speaker 1 (18:18):
That's true. So we were just talking about that last night.
I don't know what how kind of TV money he's getting,
but it's crazy. That's something here nor there. Luis Savarino,
he was good yesterday. Try such break the money full
and I'm full of jealousy, is what I am. So yeah,
there was just not a lot of sizzles of the

(18:40):
game yesterday. To be honest with you, there was very
little to no sizzle. And yesterday was Christmas in July. Yeah,
you got worn out on Twitter, and you shouldn't have
gotten worn out. I like Christmas music. The week of Christmas.
I like it, even day after thanks Giving, I'm good.
I like Christmas. I love the Christmas season because also

(19:00):
my birthdays are around then. So it's like, hey, it's
time to celebrate some ross. And then that guy, what
did you just say? What did you just celebrate yourself?
A third person? I said, it's time to celebrate some ross.
So it's a one day year where you know, madam,
I'm giving all year, what are you giving? I let you,
I let you say all these crazy things, and I'm
helping others and you know, then you know, for one

(19:22):
day a year, though, it's it's me. I get to
choose what's going down. See, I get a day and
a half. Okay, I get half Father's Day. No, no,
no half a Father's Day half. I gotta split it
with my father in law. Oh, I'm sorry.

Speaker 4 (19:35):
So I get, I get. I get a day and
a half.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
Okay. So yeah, to the Christmas in July. To me,
I think some people find an intriguing. I don't like
I said. I love Christmas lights. I'll even put a
Christmas movie on Christmas vacation is an absolute must in
our house. Multiple times over you about regular Christmas, not
Christmas Christmas, but Christmas in July.

Speaker 4 (19:59):
For me, not really.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
I love the music, I love the spirit of the season.
I think it's great. The weather gets well somewhat colder,
and I was open minded going into Christmas in July.
Got that game last night and the Christis music started,
and I was like, this ain't right. It's way too
hot for this. BS. It didn't feel right. It was
making me angry. I couldn't know, and I couldn't I
couldn't tell you why it was making me angry. It

(20:23):
was some kind of like something in the recesses of
my brain was getting triggered. The best tweet of the
day was some dumb ass that said, Hey, Ross, why
don't you go check out the calendar. You can figure out, yea,
what day is, what's going on? And obviously the guy
was on a listener and I don't know who he was.

Speaker 4 (20:38):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
I muted him right after He's like, uh, you can
figure out when you want to go, Ross, And you've responded, Bro,
I'm working, brother, I am working the game. He said,
only they listed team nights on a thing on the website.
You could avoid them, so they aren't if they aren't
your taste.

Speaker 4 (20:53):
Don't be snarky on Twitter. This miserable people.

Speaker 1 (20:55):
Just stop being snarky or or you can take five
seconds to look at my prof file, says Astros on
Deck and tenth Inning on it. How about this one
the other day? This guy knows who I am. I've
seen this guy. He had some other Twitter account with
some podcasts. I think he's a weirdo. But anyways, how
about this the other day when I was talking about
how Bryce Matthews should not keep keep Scott Boris away

(21:19):
from Bryce Matthews. It was a would you humorous?

Speaker 6 (21:22):
Right?

Speaker 1 (21:23):
Uh? Did you take it as a humorous thing or
do you take it as some douchebag?

Speaker 4 (21:28):
On Twitter added that Boris Corp.

Speaker 1 (21:30):
And I'm like, first of all, I don't care, but seriously,
you did that because you wanted someone to see that? Yeah,
did you not understand the gist of what I was saying?
People are stupid? Well, they're just trying to be a gotcha. Hey,
I know what you did. He I got I got
a bookmark for this. We have to try to remember
that you got like thirty five thousand views or whatever
on that tweet and it was one guy that did that.

(21:51):
That's true, that exactly, but it's just it was just like,
are you really doing that? I know I'm with you
because let me tell you something. If Bryce Matthews wants
a Scott signed with Scott Boris, there's two things. One,
he's gonna get the best possible agentia humanly can a
big smile on my face. And number two, he's probably
so good that Scott Bors's like, yeah, I'm gonna get
you some big money, which means Bryce Matthews done a
lot of good things for.

Speaker 4 (22:12):
The astrosk exactly a nega thing.

Speaker 1 (22:14):
It was just me being on a very small attempt
in humor and people just don't get it. Yeah, Bryce
Matthews signs of Scott Boris, that means he's the truth
and I'm.

Speaker 4 (22:24):
All on board with it.

Speaker 1 (22:26):
Now.

Speaker 4 (22:26):
Do i want to leave in six years? No?

Speaker 1 (22:28):
No, but again, uh, if he's got if he went
to to the U, if he went to Craigsils for
his agency, that means as bad about one sixty five.
I'm gonna tell you something crazy. If he does sign
with Scott Boris, the Astros can have him for life.
It's not a death knell. I think. Well, as far
as I'm going, no, it doesn't have to be. I'm

(22:50):
gonna tell you something crazy. Jim Crane can sign these people,
and he's gonna sign some people rather than giving Lance
mccullors a big deal. We'll see what happens there, and
signing jose A Brady and Rafael Montero.

Speaker 4 (23:03):
Yeah, it is possible. I get it all right, seven
one three, two, one two five seven nine.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
If you want to jump in and anything goes Friday meeting,
anything you'd like to get to in terms of conversation.

Speaker 4 (23:14):
We will discuss it.

Speaker 1 (23:17):
All right. Gordy just came in at ten fifty. He
will be giving you a review of Happy Gilmore two. Now.
He said he will watch it this morning. I'm assuming
that's because he saw it online. Is it's not movie
theaters or is it online or.

Speaker 2 (23:32):
Is it both?

Speaker 1 (23:34):
I don't know. I think it's online. I think this
was on Netflix. So he won.

Speaker 4 (23:37):
He woke up that early and did that. That's kind
of weird, right, he's.

Speaker 1 (23:41):
A huge Adam Sandler fan, huge h Okay, Oh yeah,
I came out today, so yeah, we will get a
the first review coming up in fifteen minutes of Happy
Gilmore two.

Speaker 4 (23:54):
Okay, Happy Gilmore one, amazing, all.

Speaker 1 (23:57):
Time great, one of my top I will say, I'll
even say top three comedies of all.

Speaker 4 (24:02):
Time for me?

Speaker 1 (24:03):
What's up?

Speaker 4 (24:06):
Top three comedies?

Speaker 1 (24:10):
Uh Friday and Happy Gilmore inflexible and then then the
debate starts for me. Okay, Airplane one that will never
be dethroned, Caddy Shack two, No, Caddy Check will be
number not Caddy Chick. And then I got a muddled

(24:31):
mess at three. Yeah, let me just throw a bunch
of them out there. Oh no, I'm kidding. I'll throw mine,
hold hold on, let me think. Okay, okay, Well, wedding
crashers sit in silence. Well, I'm doing my top three.
I'll give you weet weet. We have four hours, bro,
We're plenty of time. Whatdding crashers? Step Brothers, the Christian

(24:58):
Wing movie When a Bride's Maid? Those are right, three
at the top, aren't there?

Speaker 2 (25:02):
Okay? Anchorman?

Speaker 1 (25:06):
Anchorman step Brothers mentioned step brother played step Birds three? Sorry,
that would be right. And I'm sure I'm missing ten
or fifteen other ones. But that's walk hard. You have
to walk had walk hard, watch walk hard. Oh, the
First Naked Gum was really fun. What what movie did
you say? We were we were begging you to watch
and you said you were gonna watch recently, oh Friday. Okay,

(25:27):
I need you to do a double bill? No, actually
just one bill. Your your own planes all the time. Yeah,
kind of download off, I download, I'll watch it. I
think I don't know what services all right? You want
a legal one? No driving it on that. I believe
people can get us hooked up. These young kids and
they're they're they're computer whizzes. Se that helps you look

(25:51):
at that look on his face. So you can do
a legal streams you need for the right price. It's
gonna cost you, McMuffin. So what's your what's your battle
for three? Then I'm gonna you know what, I'm just
gonna I'm gonna go step brothers. I think if I
need a website, I got one. Okay, that's enough for you.
We don't need the FCC coming after us. Old school.

Speaker 2 (26:13):
Old school is funny too.

Speaker 1 (26:14):
Jesus Ross coming to America, coming to America.

Speaker 2 (26:18):
Fantastic.

Speaker 1 (26:19):
Oh oh god, yeah, I mean there's there's so many actually, oh,
doctor Strange love funny, really funny. Oh that's great. My son,
my middle son blazing. He's Blazing Saddles in his top three.
Really yeah. He he sends my clips constantly blazing. That's hilarious.

(26:42):
I liked Blazing Saddles a lot. I'll tell you this.
I didn't like Cat and most of these I've watched
within the last seven eight years. Caddyshack was kind of
mad to me. I'm sorry to say that. I didn't
really hold up Animal House. I would say the same thing.
But Blazing Saddles was frigging hilarious. As that was the
most time two. Never saw Strike Drives is really funny.

(27:02):
Hate me, but I never Oh vacation hysterical. You know what,
I got to forget this list. I can't do it.

Speaker 4 (27:08):
I can't narrow it down to three. I just can't.

Speaker 1 (27:09):
Okay, I'm going Happy Gomar Friday. Yeah, happy to go more.
Not in my top three or my probably my top ten,
but still a very funny movie.

Speaker 4 (27:18):
Okay, all right, where are we going with this?

Speaker 1 (27:22):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (27:22):
The movie of you coming up in about ten minutes
from now.

Speaker 1 (27:25):
Uh, all right, So the Astros played game two of
a series you'll once again on the Indeck Show again. Yes,
I guess Clanton and Wax were unavailable to do the
Index Show in ten then time. It's okay. And I
don't know if from the Ballpark were having some equipment
issues yesterday, but you sound like you were doing it
from a phonograph. In nineteen sixty three, somebody tweeted me

(27:47):
some guy on his computer underwater and said, this is
Ross doing the pregame. What was it were you on
the Did you use the hardwire? I use the new one? Yes, huh,
I don't know. Sounded great on my end.

Speaker 4 (27:58):
Let me just tell you Buil the curtain back on
the industry.

Speaker 2 (28:01):
Go ahead.

Speaker 1 (28:02):
We have we use voice over IP for our remote broadcast,
whether that's me on the road with the rockets or
that's at a location. But we're gonna be a tiger
ruing in August. We just found that out today, So
looking forward to that.

Speaker 4 (28:13):
Yeah, we'll take care of. We don't worry.

Speaker 2 (28:14):
We got you.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
We got you taking care of. And the hard wire
is the is the perfect connection. And then you have
a four or five G car which we use primarily,
which is just about its perfect, but the hard wire
is the absolute best. And that's surprised because if you
used hardwire and it was giving you crackles, you know
that's not a good sign at all. No, probably the
equipment more so than the connection exactly, or we'll get

(28:37):
you cracking it open. Oh there's no chance, zero all right.
Seven one three two one two five seven, nine eighty
and anything goes Friday seven one three two one two
five seven eight. We're gonna get to at eleven twenty
because we don't have enough time to really dig into it. Now.
You see poetics is getting involved in the nil game. Yeah,
so I read the story and again, you know we'll
do it. We got time here now as well. So

(28:58):
I read the story in esp in, okay, and I
have had and I'm going to be brutally honest with you, Ross.

Speaker 4 (29:06):
I'm having a hard time comprehending this.

Speaker 2 (29:09):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (29:11):
So President Trump yesterday issues an executive order, and it's
basically to clarify employment status for nc athletes. And he
says that schools should not permit athletes to accept third
party pay for play payments.

Speaker 4 (29:33):
That's nil, essentially.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
So the order states that they should use future federal
funding decisions, among other tools, to force schools to abide
by the administration policy. The NCAA has always prohibited pay
for play payments from third parties. Well, that's not really
true anymore, because nil is that? I mean? And you
are technically supposed to give something away like your name, image,

(30:00):
You're supposed to you're supposed to do something to commercially appearance.
But in reality that's just been swept under the rug.
So he's basically looking he wants he wants, he says.
Here's The executive order states that endorsement deals from third
parties should continue to be permitted so long as they
reflect quote a fair market value. So isn't that confusing

(30:23):
to me that he's saying, don't flat out pay them,
but if you will, let you pay them as long
as they give you something in return.

Speaker 4 (30:35):
Am I reading that right? That's what I'm confused?

Speaker 2 (30:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (30:41):
The College Sports Commission was created this month in an
effort to vet all third party deal athletes sign to
make sure they are reasonable payments for endorsements rather than
a veiled pay for play arrangement. Every single one of
these deals is pay for play. They I mean, we
can't be naive to this. When you're giving a an

(31:02):
athlete nine million dollars over three years. There's no way
that Texas Tech, Texas A, and m Alabama in the
Power schools need to pay somebody three million dollars for
a name, image and likeness deal. They're paying it because
they're playing for the school. That's that's why I'm confused
by it. Again, I pardon my ignorance to this or
my nativity on this, but you're not signing autographs and

(31:29):
putting your face on a car dealership in Tuscaloosa is
not worth three million dollars. If you took that in
front of a commission and said what does that? What
is that worth? That's not worth three million dollars a year.
So that's why I'm I'm having a hard time connecting
the dollars. I'll say worth whatever wants anybody wants to pay. Well,
that's what this commission is saying. That's not right. I'm

(31:50):
not trying to argue if you, I'm just telling you
that's what they're saying. That's what they're saying.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
This is just a huge mess. This is just a huge,
huge mess.

Speaker 4 (31:59):
So what is so essentially what it is? I mean,
what if there's no real law right?

Speaker 1 (32:03):
This is that? What is it?

Speaker 4 (32:04):
What is enforceable from this?

Speaker 8 (32:06):
Well?

Speaker 1 (32:06):
I don't know what do I understand? And executive order
can establish I don't know whatever. Oh I mean, I'm
sure executive order can do your government and whatever that
I don't know. But it's what he's saying is he
doesn't want a school to say you come play for us,
we'll give you eight million dollars over three years. Well
that's exactly what's going on, and you can hide it

(32:27):
under the nil, but that's really I mean again, it's
I mean, any logical person, let's say that you were
at Texas Tech any logical person said, all right, uh,
John Smith Automotive in Lubbock is going to pay a
softball player a million dollars. John Smith would never pay
a million dollars to market his dealership. It's just it

(32:50):
just wouldn't make any sense to do that. Now, if
the Ford Motor Company wanted to do it, the entire company,
then you could justify saying this athlete is worth one
million dollars, because you do pay athletes millions of dollars
for national brands. But why is anybody Why does anybody
have to step in and be the judge of that.

(33:10):
We're talking about a free micro, we're talking about a
free market. And then if somebody nobody else can be
the judge of that, some people might say sponsorship dollars
are wasted here or there whatever. Here's what the order
says to answer your question, Greer, disagree. A national solution
is urgently needed to prevent this situation from deteriorating beyond

(33:30):
repair and to protect non revenue sports, including many women's sports,
that compromise the backbone of intercollegiate athletics. So you're trying
to protect the backbone of intercollegi athics what's what's compromised.
They're saying, it's it's a a system of just paying
athletes straight. The TV deals are getting bigger than ever.
It's ticket sales and sponsorships and everything that's all growing.

(33:53):
What's compromised, Well, I mean he believes its compromised by
the statement. He's saying, this is a system that is
broke that I'm sure that you know. Again, the athletes
are gonna be starting being are gonna start getting paid
by the schools that that are in part of this plan,
but just to pay them just to go play there
from a third party.

Speaker 4 (34:14):
It's unacceptable. Again, I don't know how the hell you
you uh.

Speaker 1 (34:18):
Because again, if all of a sudden you say no,
you can't have these NL deals, you're gonna get more lawsuits.
Then if you say I we're gonna watch over these
things and we're gonna have these people judge whether or
not your deals are fair, then they're gonna start me
under the table again. I mean, you and I five
years ago had this argument about how crazy this was
going to get, and you kept promising me things were
gonna settle down. I promise you that there we're gonna
be people getting the donor fatigues, and it's happening someplaces. Yeah,

(34:41):
but it's been It's like a whack a mole. Texas
A and M. They had that huge class where there
were is eight five star players, was the most all time.
They all transferred out, and then for a few years
they were they're quiet. Mule got whacked and then they
popped that back up. They spent like fifty million dollars
this last year. I do think they can continue to
do this year year by year by year maybe And

(35:03):
even if the money doesn't calm down, then who cares?
Oh no, college players are getting millions of dollars. This
is ruining my life. I don't understand. I don't understand
the medal, the meddling. It doesn't make any sense. Sorry,
what they just won't control out of it?

Speaker 6 (35:20):
Right?

Speaker 1 (35:22):
I guess why don't they go to the sponsors and
talk to them? Yeah, I mean, I don't know, go
to the go to the sponsor, go to the alums
and say don't pay as much. It's definitely a broken system,
but this is what we've got, especially if the NC
DOUBLEA is going to dig in their heels despite losing
the Supreme Court decision after Supreme Court decision that they

(35:44):
are amateur athletics. It should have been it should have
never got to this point. Basically, the second TV money
got involved is where it.

Speaker 4 (35:53):
Needed to go away from amateurism.

Speaker 1 (35:54):
But that was never gonna happen because they want to
keep their tax exempt status and keep all of their
money the NC double A and so then it became
this under the table deal. Then it became okay, there
is no way to get in front of a judge
and sell that they are taking in these billions of
dollars of revenue and giving a scholarship an academic scholarship

(36:15):
is anywhere close to fair value. It's not.

Speaker 4 (36:19):
So this is the workaround.

Speaker 1 (36:21):
And it's sure, you got a big leak right now
and you're putting a piece of duct tape on it.
But the only other solution is to completely blow the
dam up. To me, and that's what I've always said.
I've always said that the system is way too broken.
It needs to be blown up. It needs to be
a completely pay for play professional league, a minor league essentially,

(36:47):
maybe even partner through the NFL. Or this is what's
gonna happen. You're gonna have a complete mess on your hands.
But at least now players are getting paid, so I'm
happy about that. It's a compromise and it's like the
the worst compromise ever, but at least players are getting
paid now. Yeah. I had a meeting yesterday with a
friend of mine who was in this business, and we
are due for brake. We were way late, he says.

(37:10):
It's we're too far gone. We're too far that this
is out of control, and that you can put any
executive where you want to if you're rich, alum and
you want to get that player to come.

Speaker 4 (37:20):
Yeah, the under the table deals are back.

Speaker 1 (37:23):
We're in a little I keep making this argument, honestly,
with our governmental systems and other things going on, we're
at that. We're at the We're at a little log
cabin at the bottom of a mountain and there's an
avalanche coming our way and we're saying, how do we
stop the snow? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (37:35):
Ooh, you had snow reference. Okay, all right, as promised.

Speaker 1 (37:39):
The update on Billy Madison is a Billy Madison too
happy Gilmore too. We're gonna get Billy Madison to eventually
right ten forty seven seven uinety Okay, Gordy's here with
an update and a review of Happy Gilmore Too. You
woke up this morning early? When when did it drop?
Do movies stay up now on Netflix? Netflix only? You

(38:01):
watch it right at two am?

Speaker 9 (38:02):
No, we woke up early this morning, Like what are
you and the lady like six or seven?

Speaker 1 (38:07):
Y'all snuggle during this or just to watch a movie
in college? Well, she had to do work, so we
went in the living room. In the living room, but
that's a different issue for a different time, all right,
So seven am, sitting on any of your couches, did
you have coffee breakfast and you watched Yeah, and you
sat back and you said, I love the first one.
And now you tell us here that number two is
the first one is at all timer? For me? It's
all time.

Speaker 9 (38:27):
Probably that and Billy Mattis are my two favorite comedies
of all time, up there with The Big Lebowski.

Speaker 4 (38:32):
Extremely quotable, Yes, all timer, very quotable.

Speaker 1 (38:37):
M hmm.

Speaker 9 (38:38):
I thought they did as good a job as you
could do with a sequel.

Speaker 4 (38:41):
Thirty years later.

Speaker 9 (38:44):
I actually heard saidlor in an interview, said they originally
had the script twenty years ago or ten years ago
that was going to be a sequel that was going
to focus on Chubbs played by Carl Weathers, who dies
in the first one. It was going to be about
Chubbs's son and acting revenge on Happy Gilmour, and Chubbs
was going to make appearances throughout in dream sequences. Well,

(39:04):
Carl Weather Carl Weather's guide. Yeah, so they couldn't use him,
so they had to re write a whole new story.

Speaker 1 (39:10):
That's good.

Speaker 9 (39:11):
It's enough cameos, it's enough callbacks. They used clips from
the original to like kind of remind you.

Speaker 1 (39:16):
Of different things.

Speaker 4 (39:17):
That's saving money.

Speaker 9 (39:18):
Well yeah, but it's kind of cool. It's a cool
ode and tribute to the original. So I liked it.
The storyline's kind of cheesy. It's there's some great shots
at the Live Live Golf Tour because there was a
whole new rival golf replacement.

Speaker 1 (39:33):
Well it's but it's not. It's it's mocking live.

Speaker 9 (39:36):
But they got a ton of golfers in this, and
I'm surprised, Like they've got legends, they've got new golfers,
and the new golfers played pretty big roles. Rory McElroy, Scotti, Shuffler,
like they're all in it. So that was kind of cool.
If you're a golf fan, I think you'll like it.

Speaker 4 (39:50):
Okay, would you be did you better laugh at any
point or in the movie?

Speaker 1 (39:53):
It was a few There was a few moments.

Speaker 4 (39:55):
Okay, well that I mean, I've heard worst reviews of
of sequels.

Speaker 1 (39:59):
Yeah, of ten, what do we got? I give it
a seven and a half. What's rotten tomatoes hanging on?
Rotten Tomato's yet on it? You want to know how
fresh it is? I'll go look, I think I want
to watch it again. You know what I think the
comedies you gotta watch twice for sure, well, almost anything
to really truly evaluate.

Speaker 4 (40:16):
At least with low expect that's what nobody wants to
do that.

Speaker 1 (40:20):
You wants to go hold on. You just said seven
and a half.

Speaker 9 (40:23):
Well, I'll put it this way, like the New Superman.
Everybody and our brother's like, oh, don't see it. Oh
it's tresh.

Speaker 1 (40:28):
I went in with low expectations. I liked it.

Speaker 9 (40:31):
Had I gone in with like, I all, this better
be the best superhero move I've ever seen.

Speaker 1 (40:35):
Got a seven. It's got a seven point seven on
MDB does the thing? But not No, I'm sorry, not happy.
Go more I'm talking about Superman. Oh okay, it doesn't
it's not on rotten to me or what the hell? Maybe?
I mean, it's just.

Speaker 4 (40:47):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (40:47):
So it is definitely worth one percent I think so
sixty four percent fresh by critics, but some people value
the popcorn meter, which is people weren't credits.

Speaker 4 (40:58):
She's regular people seventy two percent.

Speaker 9 (40:59):
See I'm a golf fan, though, do you can you
would you recognize Colin mar Recall if you saw him?

Speaker 2 (41:04):
No?

Speaker 1 (41:04):
Okay, So like if you're a big golf fan.

Speaker 9 (41:06):
You like Scotty Scheffer and not he's dead. And Jack Nicholas,
Jack Nicholas, Okay, Jack Nicholson. Travis Kelcey's in it.

Speaker 1 (41:22):
Oh geez, it's his fifteen minutes over Worth. By the way,
he's a very small role and he's good. Okay, he
was funny on SNL. I will give him that he's
been in the league for like twelve years.

Speaker 9 (41:32):
They do use some AI stuff that's pretty funny too.
At the very beginning.

Speaker 1 (41:36):
You know what, you've You've done a pretty decent job
that I'm gonna watch it now it's on. I aren't
even subscribe to Netflix. I'm like, I'm a painting thing
for it, extra right.

Speaker 9 (41:44):
I'm just surprised they wouldn't do it, because didn't they
do early Netflix movies they would do in the theater too.

Speaker 1 (41:50):
I'm surprised they didn't put this in the theater. It
would have It would have crushed in the theater.

Speaker 4 (41:53):
I think we're done with movies in theaters, aren't we.

Speaker 1 (41:55):
Basically, no, they'll never die, I know, but they're not
any closer to what they used to.

Speaker 9 (42:00):
The New f one movie, somebody told me it's really good,
but see it in the theater.

Speaker 1 (42:03):
Yes, you're not appreciate exactly. There are certain experiences you
can't pass up in the theater.

Speaker 9 (42:08):
Now, wow, the one that did die three D? I
think we're done with that. Remember you had to go
to the movies and put the glass.

Speaker 1 (42:14):
Jo, I saw Super three D last week. You put
the glasses onto an earlier Yeah, but it wasn't really
made for three D, so it was kind of a way.
I think those are dying. Yeah, eighty four percent for
Superman on Tomato meter. Yeah, audience score happy Gilmore sixty
seventy two.

Speaker 4 (42:32):
Okay, sorry, there you go. You're going the Astros game tonight?

Speaker 1 (42:35):
Yes, I will be and.

Speaker 9 (42:36):
I'll be grabbing a Crawford box from our friends at
car Bock Brewing. I believe do they still do the
Friday happy hours. I have to get up there, so,
like you have to get up there in the upper
deck and enjoy a couple.

Speaker 5 (42:46):
Of some fireworks in your mouth. What does the upper
deck you speak of? You know, the the fancy right
field upper area. Forget what they call it. It's it's
the party deck or whatever it is. But oh, I
don't remember. Here's the here's the tough part they offer.
I think it's like five dollars discounted beers. But the
line gets so long you better double fist when you

(43:07):
go up there. But anyway, make sure you get a
Crawford block from our friends at Carbock Brewing. Maybe that
was the problem last night. Maybe not enough people had
Crawford box watching the Astros game. That's why they lost.

Speaker 9 (43:16):
So let's hope, let's hope you get the Crawford bok
flowing tonight out there Carbock Brewing and get an Astros win.

Speaker 1 (43:22):
And by the way, we were out of car Bock
the other day.

Speaker 9 (43:24):
They are starting to mail out those the Hill Country
t shirts for those who donated to the flood relief
fund out there, and thanks to all who donated and
tremendous cause and support from our friends there Carbock.

Speaker 4 (43:35):
Thank you, Gordy. We'll talk to you on Monday.

Speaker 1 (43:37):
Up next. McTaggart's on the astros beat ten to fifty
nine on seven ninety Sports Talk seven ninety. We normally
get a chance to visit with Brian McTaggart every Thursday
on the radio show, but you had a flight, did
not get the upgrade from Phoenix to Houston and is
joining us here today on the Matt.

Speaker 4 (43:54):
Thomas shol Ross on a Friday tags, how are things?

Speaker 2 (43:58):
Things are going well?

Speaker 4 (43:59):
Going on? How are you guys doing? We're fine, It's Friday.

Speaker 2 (44:02):
What are you gonna do?

Speaker 1 (44:02):
Hey? Last night to me was one of those. We
just finished the three games, sweep, we flew home. We're tired.
The A's don't necessarily present a huge challenge. Just I mean,
I hate to use an ego song, but one of
those nights, basically for the local nine, Yeah, I.

Speaker 2 (44:21):
Think you hit the nail on the head, just just
one of those nights. I mean, you know you're not
gonna win every game, and uh, you know, Severarino picks
really well against underman lineup. That's you know. You know,
they've had to kind of scratch and claw for everyone
of their wins on the road trip, and they just
weren't able to do it. Yesterday they still had to
tie and run at the plate in eighth inning. But

(44:41):
uh yeah, I mean they you know, try to catch
lightning in a bottle again with Jason Alexander and it
didn't work.

Speaker 4 (44:47):
So I mean, it's just where they are.

Speaker 2 (44:48):
I mean, when you were, when you're relying on on
some guys who you know probably wouldn't be here because
of injuries. It's just not gonna work out some night.
So it's just yeah, but you know, you got to
come back and if you're the Astros, try to get
these next three and at least got a split in
this series. But yeah, you could try to win the series. Now,
that's probably the goal.

Speaker 1 (45:07):
I'll be honest with you. As I was following the
game on television and radio and then watching your tweets,
I was more frankly intrigued to what was happening in
the minor leagues.

Speaker 4 (45:15):
How about you. I mean, we've got some.

Speaker 1 (45:16):
Guys that are double a triple A and and again
my philosophy has been on this show since all these
injuries is when they wear the word Astros or Houston
in the uniform, I will really really care. But at
least we saw some tangible minor league competition for some
guys that were hurt for quite some time.

Speaker 4 (45:34):
Yeah, I'm right with you.

Speaker 2 (45:35):
About the third inning, I called up the sugar Land
box score and was sort of falling along and seeing
what was going on with Christian Hobvier making a rehab
start yesterday and through forty nine pitches in two and
two thirds inning. So that's a pretty good amount through
a lot of strikes, through thirty strikes, give up.

Speaker 4 (45:52):
One run on a sack.

Speaker 2 (45:53):
Fly was touched ninety five with the fastball, so I
think he averaged like ninety three something with the fast
Also that the velo was there, only had three swings
and misses from twenty twenty swings, so you know, it
didn't miss a lot of bats, but still looked like
a good amount of volume. It looked like he was,
you know, getting closer to returning. And then Jacob Melton

(46:15):
also played in that game and absolutely crushed two balls.
One of the hit off the wall for a double
that was over one hundred and eleven miles an hour.
So you know, he's still a rookie, but I think
he's a guy who can come up here and help
you a little bit. So, and then over the weekend,
now we got Spencer Arighetti pitching tonight at Corpus Christie.
You have Luis Garcia tomorrow on Corpus Christi and JP

(46:37):
Franz tomorrow Corpus Christi. So hey, look, I mean these
guys are on rehabs at the upper minor leagues. Within
a week or two we're going to start seeing some
guys activated.

Speaker 4 (46:47):
And then the help was on its way.

Speaker 1 (46:50):
So look, Jason Alexander knows he's probably headed back to
Triple A.

Speaker 2 (46:54):
That's an easy one.

Speaker 1 (46:56):
Give me where you think there is not necessarily huge debate,
but a little uneasiness with some guys that are in
the rotation right now that might lose their spots.

Speaker 2 (47:08):
Yeah, well you have a couple of sure things. Of course,
in Fromber and Hunter Brown. I was looking yesterday, and
those two guys are vastars, are twenty nine and eleven.
When those guys start and when anybody else starts, they're
thirty one and thirty two, so they're under five hundred.
And they've also thrown i think forty three percent of
the innings by starters this year, so they've they've carried
the biggest part of the workload. I think Brandon Walter

(47:30):
has put himself in good position. I mean, he's just
he's stacked good starts. He's had a couple of ones
here and there that aren't so good. But you know,
he's a guy that's you know, he's a lefty, he's deceptive,
he's got that cutter that he spots really well. So
I think he's put himself in a good spot. You know,
Colton Gordon has done a nice job as well. You know,
Ryan Gusta, who pitches tonight, is a guy who can

(47:53):
go to the bullpen.

Speaker 4 (47:53):
We've seen that in the past.

Speaker 2 (47:54):
So I was suspected to get a reliever or two
back here. You know, we could see Gusta go back
to the bullpen and sort of be that swing man guy.
But you know, if they get if they get like
three or four starters back, it's just gonna come down
to who's pitching better. I mean, if Walter is out pitching,
somebody else then you know he's gonna pitch and.

Speaker 4 (48:13):
But this is, uh, this is this is good.

Speaker 2 (48:15):
News for the Astros that, you know, all these guys,
they seem so far away when they got sent to
Florida and they're you know, they're throwing bullpens and live bps.
But now they're now they're double A, triple A and
rehab games. You just start to feel they're just around
the corner. And it's got to be pretty exciting for
the Astros.

Speaker 1 (48:32):
The mccolor situation just seems extremely unpredictable. Feels like it's
easier to get rid of him if he just can't
turn any corner, easy to keep him if he does
turn the corner. But what if he continues to be
up and down and you have all these guys getting healthy.
Of course he's on the ion now with the blister issue,
but I am extremely interested to see how that unfolds.

Speaker 2 (48:54):
Yeah, with Ross, I think it's gonna be really interesting.
Uh you know, if he's gonna come up and not
get deep in the ball games and they have other options,
I mean, they have to go with the other options.
It's just the way it is. I mean, it's you know,
Lance has done a lot of great things for this team,
and he's you know, he's got a big contract through
next year. But this is still a performance based business
and they need pitchers who are going to go deep

(49:16):
in the game. So yeah, the whole deal is a
weird deal because you know what he when he got
done with the start the other night in uh in Seattle,
he didn't say anything about a blister. He just said
he you know, he's got a pitch better, and you
could tell he was frustrated, but there was no talk
of a blister. I didn't see him looking at a blister,
you know, at any point in that game. And and
then we find out, you know, he flies back to

(49:37):
Houston because he's got a blister, so he wasn't there yesterday.
He didn't get a chance to talk to him. So
kind of a weird deal. You know, not not sure
where you go with Lance or or what you do
at this point, but I guess, first of all, you
got to figure out what's going on with this blister,
and then uh, you know, see if see if you
can run him back out there and what he's got.

Speaker 1 (49:57):
Brian McTaggart with us here on Sports Talk seven ninety
Josh Naylor to the Mariners yesterday, So the arms race
has kicked off for the deadline. What do you think
about what the Mariners gave up for him and kind
of where that puts the Astros in their search for help.

Speaker 2 (50:16):
Yeah, I think this is sort of the one that's
gonna get things going. I mean, this is the big
first big Domino to fall, a great addition to their lineup.
I mean, they had, you know, Luke Rayley playing first,
who isn't very good frankly, So you know, Naylor's a
guy who doesn't strike out, who's got some power. He's
gonna fit in really well in that lineup. He's gonna
make the Mariners a lot better. I believe they give

(50:36):
up their their number thirteen and sixteen prospects, and their
prospect list is much deeper than the Astros. So those
are those are two guys that are probably if they
were in the Astro system, or probably top seven or
eight prospects. So they give up some good prospects. But
I don't think anything that at the end of the day,
you know, they're gonna be kicking themselves down the road.

(50:57):
Who knows, But I mean I think all in all
was a good trade for them. And now there's still
very much after you hate Io Suarez. We saw him
over the weekend in Arizona. He played with Seattle before.
They would love to get him back if and they
have the prospects to do it. I think they had
nine of the top one hundred prospects on MLB dot
COM's pipeline list.

Speaker 4 (51:17):
The Astros had one, which is Bryce Matthews.

Speaker 2 (51:19):
So there the mirrors are much better positioned to you know,
make the other impact deal that. That's not to say
the Astros can't, and I think they will make some deals.
They definitely need a bat, a left handed bat. They
are interested in Suarez, uh just with it looks like
Peretis is going to be out a while. So whoever,
whoever swore as wherever he goes, he's gonna make that

(51:40):
team a lot better. He's this is a guy who
could hit fifty home runs, so it's gonna be really
interested that Astros also need a right handed reliever they
could put in the that that that high leverage pocket
with uh, Brian King and and Bennett is a guy like,
you know, just a right hander they could mix in there.
If they have a you know, a pocket of right
handed hitters. I wonder if they're if they're going to

(52:03):
push hard for starting pitching at this point, just with
like we said earlier, they got guys coming back that
you feel pretty good about and maybe you know, you
shift your focus now to getting a bat and a reliever.
But definitely going to be a very very interesting uh
next week. But Astros will make a trade or two
and this team could look a lot different in Boston
next week.

Speaker 1 (52:23):
Clearly Suarez would be a huge addition, especially because if
Parentis's hammy is as bad as it looked when he
limped off field, it could be a while. And we've
spent time and you have and all the writers and
the people that follow this team, but grudging the minor
league system and how that Danis had to go to
that system so many times when it was trying to stockpile.

(52:45):
So let's let's put the cards on the table. What
could the Astros possibly offer that other teams wouldn't offer,
they would offer less that would make the Astros a
spot that Arizona would like to talk to.

Speaker 2 (52:58):
Well, I mean, they have some intreating arms in the
in the minor leagues. Uh, Miguel Uola is uh, you know,
one of their best strikeout minor league pitchers. I mean
there are a lot of teams would love to you know,
slot him in the Triple A lineup and think maybe
he could help them down down the road. Aj blue
Ball is a guy who's who's got some value. They

(53:19):
have some up and coming outfielders like Joseph Sullivan, who's
a Pat Sullivan, the former Heisman Trophy winner, that's his grandson.

Speaker 1 (53:27):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (53:27):
I mean, look, they got players in the minor leagues.
Do they have is the top end players of a
lot of teams. No. But if if they're going to
trade for Suarez and you're gonna send two or three prospects, uh,
they have enough to get it done. It will be
a little more challenged thing. You're right, because other teams
have probably better prospects to offer.

Speaker 4 (53:44):
But they're also.

Speaker 2 (53:46):
You know, are they're gonna be willing to part with
some of these prospects as well. So it's tricky. It's uh,
it's it's a delicate time of year. It's a it's
a chess match here for the next six days. But
you know, you know, look at all the like I've
said before, look at all the prospects the Astros have
dealt year after year, and none of those guys really
have come back to bite them. You know, maybe Taeoscar

(54:08):
Hernandez when they traded him to Toronto for Aoki.

Speaker 4 (54:11):
That's that's one you want back.

Speaker 2 (54:13):
But the four guys they sent to Verlander, you know,
you know so far, the three guys they sent to
Toronto or their low berfeedo homeward last.

Speaker 4 (54:20):
Night, and it's still early for those guys.

Speaker 2 (54:23):
But you know, Jim Crane's very much of the philosophy, Hey,
we're here to win now, prospects, you know, deal them.
Let's let's get players that can help us win. And
they're gonna get some players.

Speaker 1 (54:32):
Last question, could the Astros dangle one of their left
handed relievers out there, because teams, you know, this time
of time of year, are always looking for situational lefties
to get just an out, maybe two batters. Could one
of them be expendable in order to help make a
trade of some sort.

Speaker 4 (54:51):
Yes, I think so.

Speaker 2 (54:52):
I know Dana is not a fan of trading from
the major league roster, but they do have a surplus
there and if they if they do, you at a
right handed reliever.

Speaker 4 (55:02):
I think the one.

Speaker 2 (55:03):
Guy that that is probably the most likely to be
traded would be Steven Okirt.

Speaker 4 (55:07):
We saw him pitch a little last night.

Speaker 2 (55:10):
I think Brian King and Bennett Susa have just been
too valuable. I think those are the two guys they
would want to keep, But I could definitely see them
trading o Kurt If if another team wants a lefty
reliever as part of a package, then I think they
would be willing to do that. You know, Dan is
hesitant to take away from a team that's already pretty

(55:30):
under man, but you know that is a They got
three lefty relievers they can put in a latent games.
So yeah, I think there's a chance, but probably unlikely
at this point.

Speaker 1 (55:39):
If you love Brian mctagger, now imagine with him and
Ross tonight at six o'clock as part of the on
Deck show. M I got rehash these questions somehow, Brian.

Speaker 2 (55:50):
Okay, I'll come up with different answers.

Speaker 4 (55:52):
Maybe to make a trade between now and then.

Speaker 1 (55:55):
Yes, no, no, no trade six o'clock. If you're gonna
make a trade, don't do it until six o'clock because
I don't want the eight team to get up any
part of that love. That's ridiculous. If I'm feeling lazy,
I'll be a home. If I'm not, I'll be at
the ballpark. I'll let you know he's gonna be lazy.

Speaker 4 (56:09):
Tags.

Speaker 1 (56:10):
We'll talk to you.

Speaker 2 (56:10):
I'll talk I'll talk to you from your.

Speaker 1 (56:14):
Thanks. Thanks, We'll see you later. Brian McTaggert, Brian will
be the game. He'll be lazy like you. That's his job.
He's on the beat.

Speaker 4 (56:21):
Oh okay, fair enough.

Speaker 1 (56:23):
Eleven fifteen of The Bat Thomas Show with Ross seven
one three two one two five seven ninety I just
don't get it was yesterday. Today we say I'm sorry
to some people, and we'll do that in fifteen minutes
here on Sports Talk seven Natties. Eleven twenty one on

(56:43):
The Matt Thomas Show with Ross seven one three two
one two five seven ninety seven one three two one
two five seven nine zero. I'm sorry, as you're coming
up at the bottom of the hour. I don't like
playing assistant coach Audio.

Speaker 2 (57:01):
I just don't.

Speaker 1 (57:02):
But I'm going to hear because it's training camp. Okay,
it's we're on the precipice of a new season, and
clearly this team all we.

Speaker 4 (57:15):
Have to really worry about.

Speaker 1 (57:17):
I think we're talking about the Texans secondary should be solid.
Linebacking corps hopefully will be improved. The defensive lines. Get
Will Anderson, you got your quarterback, You got a couple
of running backs be out of their healthy, you got
your receiving court. I mean, there's plenty of bright spots,
but there is one that's just got a lot of angst,
and it's the offensive line. The f Texans fired their

(57:40):
offensive line coach last year, took the assistant and made
him the number one guy. So I want to introduce
to you Cole Popovich, Core Popovich. I mean, we ain't
gonna cousin discuss him for four hours, but we're gonna
play a SoundBite. Okay, Okay, were you seizing for a second?
I was for a little bit. I don't know what's
wrong with me.

Speaker 4 (58:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (58:01):
Well so, well there's a lot of things, but point
being is this, Yeah, we're not gonna play a lot
of him. Okay, but today then not being a the
Astros game doesn't move the needle.

Speaker 4 (58:11):
There hasn't been a trade.

Speaker 2 (58:12):
Man, It's totally.

Speaker 1 (58:13):
You don't have to yeah, bet this, no you don't.
It's okay, all right, we can talk a little football.
We could play something from the old line. Coach, it's
all right, we don't need to think maybe it's uber dorky,
but today it's not uber do Okay, it's just regular dorky.
Here's Cole Popovich and what he expects from his team's
offensive line this season. Line that plays the game in
a way that like, uh.

Speaker 10 (58:35):
The whole team can kind of see. There's there's a
toughness established from our group there, right, we're not we're
not shying away from any kind of contact. And then
you know, really the other thing would be just a
smart groom. I don't want missed assignment. So that's like
the biggest thing is we're trying to play clean football,
trying to eliminate bad football, play very tough, be assignment sound,

(58:56):
and I think we'll be okay if we do those.

Speaker 1 (58:58):
Like okay, there you go, all right, sounds good to me,
Mamley Simon's was a huge part of why. Now. Of course,
you had a bunch of bodies rotating, you had a
reshuffling of the offensive line a bunch of times. You
didn't have a whole lot of continuity, whether it be
be underperformance, or injury. But he's absolutely right. And people
were talking about c. J. Stroud. He making the calls,

(59:21):
but he doesn't make the calls in the in Bobby's
slow system. I don't know how it is exactly with
Nick Kyley, uh, but in the slow system, the center
is making the calls and then they were changing centers
all the time. Let me ask you this, and I
know that Bill O'Brien had this originally. He was always
very braggadocious about the ability to have guys playing multiple positions.
M hm. Do you think that was a little falling

(59:42):
on deaf ears on that a little bit? Because if
you have people that are moving around the quote unquote
swing positions, does that mean they're just not particularly good
at anything. I definitely think there was there's something to that,
and I definitely think it frustrated me when Brian I
would pill O'Brien's said that, when they would prioritize versatility.

(01:00:04):
Nobody's saying, let's kick uh Anthony Munoz into into guard.
Nobody's saying, now, of course he Anthony munjos is don't
grow on trees. But you get my point. Nobody say,
if you're a great left tackle, be a great left tackle,
that's what you need. And yeah, it's okay to have
guys who can swing out to tackle, especially when they're
in the interior. But if we got this guy might

(01:00:25):
be a guard, this guy to get a tackle. That
usually means when you're a great tackle come out of
college and they're trying to put you at guard, that
means you're not that great. Like tatas toward let's let's
let's let's let's be honest here. Titus Howard's played four
positions m H in his young NFL career. Titus Howard
hasn't been an exemper in any of them, but he's
been when healthy, he's been able to help. But there's

(01:00:47):
a reason why they're bouncing around. It's because they can't
find that spot. Like for all the things that I
was one hundred percent right about Laramie Tunsel not being
a team guy, being an eye guy. You you could
pencil him at left tackle and it was done. You
can not be able to do that with Titus Howard
over his NFL career. And I'm not saying and Titus
Howard will never be Laromy Tunsil. Yeah, that's another thing too.

(01:01:08):
I mean guys have certain limitations. You'll cook him in
the guard because they don't have the right arm length,
or they're not strong enough or what certain size. Yes,
there are reasons to do that, but it's like, why
don't you just draft a guy who's gonna be a
good tackle, Because if you're drafting a guy who is
tackle and guard, that means he's not a good tackle,
and that's the most difficult position in the most the premium.

(01:01:28):
Not to say interior guys don't matter, of course. Yeah,
so we'll get you a little bit more withaovich, but yeah,
I think today was a good day to play it.
We'll mix some more sound bites and other kind of stuff.
But I just because I think all of us, and
I'm willing to put myself included, I need to know
who this offensive line is. I need to be able
to say one position guy is better at this position

(01:01:48):
because I don't follow that kind of stuff, and I
don't think most of our audience does. But we can
sometimes go into a little bit more of a deeper dive,
and so we're gonna try to do that a little bit.
Their biggest issue was the miss assignments and letting free
runner last year, and he mentioned that multiple times. That's good.
Address it short up, figure something out with Nick Kayley
and how they're doing calls and whatever, because I think, honestly,

(01:02:10):
in again with these untrained eyes of mine, I think
Joe Mixon's exemporary season was in part because he was
able to get some things done even though his offensive
line did not give him a great run protection his vision.
He made something out of nothing and when he went
down and it was that's why they were turning to
guys like Dario Gunbowale and stuff like that, where you

(01:02:31):
couldn't really go to Damian Pierce. Look, Damian Pierce had
a great season couple of years ago, but he's basically
gonna get up field and then he can go a
long way the patients and vision isn't there. And absolutely
Joe Mixon has this great feel of where the flow
of linebackers and linemen are going, where blocks are getting
blown up, and then going the other way and making

(01:02:52):
something out of nothing. But guess what younger running backs
slower running backs in which the Texans have both of
those have got a rookie running back coming out what
he marks, I don't know what he's vision's looking like
but but I mean name Nick Chubb. My guess is
not going to have that kind of zip that Joe
Mixon has. Yeah, I'm not feeling great about Nick Chubb.

Speaker 2 (01:03:12):
But we'll see.

Speaker 1 (01:03:13):
Were getting the camp report today? Text WEX, I don't
want to ask two days in a row, you asked WEX. Okay,
siavoll join us at twelve twenty. He is he is scary.

Speaker 2 (01:03:22):
That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (01:03:23):
I don't want to.

Speaker 4 (01:03:23):
I don't want to over I don't want to overtext him.
You got you sex him?

Speaker 1 (01:03:27):
Say?

Speaker 4 (01:03:27):
Can you come on twelve twenty today asking for a friend?

Speaker 3 (01:03:29):
Hey.

Sorry, so sorry.

Speaker 1 (01:04:55):
And I love it that Ross already knows what he's
going to say, what he needs to do to tell
that certain group of people, or maybe someone in particular,
that they're sorry. Ross the floor is yours. Yes, I
have to apologize to hul Cogan, his legacy, his fans,

(01:05:19):
and people around the world who were crushed yesterday by
the passing. Yes, of course he was a braggart and
a liar and a racist, but.

Speaker 2 (01:05:33):
He was also a human being and we're all not.

Speaker 1 (01:05:35):
Perfect, and maybe I danced on the grave a little
bit more than I should have. Adam Clanton was especially affected.
He was crushed. He asked for multiple hugs yesterday, and
you know what, in those moments, I was like, you know,
people around the world are hurting, and I'm sorry for

(01:05:56):
bringing up and incessantly using the inn and lying.

Speaker 4 (01:06:02):
This feels very half hearted, so I'm sorry. I shouldn't have.

Speaker 1 (01:06:06):
Brought it up. I'm sorry. I didn't mean it that much.
I'm sorry for putting his false claims and believe it
or not, you know what, they won't ever listen to me.
I'm gonna said it better myself, so I didn't have to.
So I'm sorry. I do. I do feel some remorse.
I'm sorry.

Speaker 4 (01:06:25):
Well, uh, what he said was awful.

Speaker 1 (01:06:30):
He got fired for it, but he was able to
make amends and was walking back by the WWE. So
something must have happened that he was able to.

Speaker 2 (01:06:39):
Repair the damage. That he had with the things.

Speaker 4 (01:06:41):
He said, so again, there are some mistakes that you know,
I saw.

Speaker 1 (01:06:48):
Is this true that Rick Flair put out like a
heartfelt tribute He started crying, yeah, and then said he
wasn't as good as Ricky Steamboat. No, he was talking
about the greatest match that Rick Flair ever had was
with Ricky Steak. Okay, but he's like, my match with
Ricky wasn't was the best. My matches with Hulk weren't

(01:07:08):
the best, but they were still very special. It'd be like,
I'm kind of a backhanded complimt No, no, no, I
saw it exactly what he said. Okay, I didn't watch it.
I didn't want to be.

Speaker 4 (01:07:18):
Like, oh god, ass, you're asking me to do an
analogy and this is terrible.

Speaker 1 (01:07:23):
Oh okay, well you're other co hosts they were great,
but they just weren't as good as Ross. You have
been my favorite co host of my entire life. It
doesn't mean I mean other people that I have not
worked with I didn't enjoy working with.

Speaker 2 (01:07:37):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (01:07:37):
Does that make sense? Yes, man, that's exactly what you're saying.
Is that so I'm your Ricky Steamboat. I guess it
was a Ricky. I don't really even know Ricky Steamboat
very good, okay, well hall of Famer all the timer,
uh for sure? Dead alive? Really yes, good for him? Yeah, okay. Anyways,

(01:07:59):
I wanted to apologize to Hulk Hogan his estate in
his fans. All right, there you go, Johnathan, I'm gonna
go to you because I'm trying to think. I'm gonna
try to rewind my week to see if I did
something that I should apologize for. Some I thinking, as
you think, do you have something you want to apologize for?
I got something. I use my points at the McDonalds
all the time. That's why I'm always there. Yeah, and

(01:08:20):
you never bring us anything. You should apologize for that
if you I all get his has brown a little
sausage but okay with some jelly, but all I'm always
have a constant thing of saying yes sir, yes, ma'am,
you know, grooving this au huh.

Speaker 4 (01:08:33):
Yeah, you're very nice.

Speaker 11 (01:08:34):
And then the guy out of the speaker, he had
a very high pitched voice.

Speaker 1 (01:08:40):
So and I just I say.

Speaker 8 (01:08:45):
Like three times and you said to the window he
said yes ma'am, and he gave me the most like
I just wanted to apologize listening, but I felt real bad.

Speaker 1 (01:08:59):
So you heard heard somebody thought I was a girl, Yes,
but it was really a guy. And you give me yes,
You gave him yes, ma'ams and I polite yes ma'ams too.
You know like that used to happen to me when
I was like thirteen. I would pick up with the
phone and people would think I was with my mom.
That's happened me all the time for sure when I
was younger. Well, Jonathan, you don't you don't know this story.

(01:09:22):
And I have time to tell out or other talk
to people. What okaytball story? Okay, I told you about that.
I thought you're going to tell another story. No, there's
other that I'm not talking about it there and that's
not happening. Uh seve one three two one two five
seven And if you want apologize, seid one three two
one two five seven nine zero. So Jonathan, when I

(01:09:43):
was in college at the University of North Texas used
to umpire softball games.

Speaker 4 (01:09:47):
Oh yeah, all right, stay with me on this focus.

Speaker 1 (01:09:50):
And when you play CORECT you had to have a
male at third uh, female at shortstop. You had to alternate.
You couldn't have two consecut same position. So, oh God,
I'm umpiring this game, and I'm watching the game and
there was a play at shortstop made throw over to

(01:10:12):
first base, and I'm like, uh, oh, we got a
problem here because there a guy's a guy at third
and a guy at second. There can't be a guy
at shortstop. So I stopped the game. I walked towards
the picture's mound. I put my hands up, time out,
time out. I point at her, eventually realizing it was.

Speaker 4 (01:10:41):
A her, not a him.

Speaker 1 (01:10:44):
Matt, No, Matt, Yes, it absolutely happened, And instead of
embarrassing her any more than I did, I chuckled a
little bit.

Speaker 4 (01:10:55):
I turned around and walked back to the plate.

Speaker 1 (01:10:59):
So sorry, And everyone's like, why did you stop the
game and point at our shortstop?

Speaker 4 (01:11:05):
God, I had no answer. I was nineteen years old.

Speaker 1 (01:11:10):
My ad lib skills are significantly better today than they
were in nineteen ninety one.

Speaker 4 (01:11:15):
Point being is this. I didn't want to embarrass her.

Speaker 1 (01:11:18):
I didn't say it out loud, but the Monday after
the Saturday game, I got a call from the wreck
department asking me to come in and explain myself, and
that there was some sexual harassment charges going against me
because of that. They said, oh, no way, o man.
I mean, it was an honest mistake in fairness to me,

(01:11:39):
she was Butcher, you didn't have to say that. You
didn't have to say that at all. So I'm sorry
to that Butch shortstop for me thinking you were a dude.

Speaker 4 (01:11:54):
Oh that's horrible. I'm so sorry, man.

Speaker 1 (01:11:56):
I know you. That keeps the other night. So they
don't think it does. It doesn't the worst part was
it was the Crusaders for Christ campus team, and you're
going to Hell.

Speaker 2 (01:12:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:12:14):
I told that to Mark Sherman, are a programming guy
in the infant side. I said, you get a I
told Marcus you get a straight shot to heaven. I
had to stop in purgatory, and I may be there
for a while, may be hanging out for a bit.
I'll I mean, I'm living there. Yeah, you might want
to buy the real estate. I'm like the paigor Leon.
I'm gonna stay in Purgatory and never get to the
big the big time. I think the interest rates are good,

(01:12:35):
all right. So I've never really firmly apologized to that
campus Crusaders for Christ.

Speaker 4 (01:12:41):
Butcher Short and.

Speaker 1 (01:12:44):
I don't like, I don't think I ever had to
apologize to her directly, but once I explained myself, They're like, okay, you.

Speaker 4 (01:12:49):
Do obviously sexual harassed.

Speaker 6 (01:12:51):
But it was.

Speaker 1 (01:12:51):
It was quite embarrassing, and I could have made it
worse by saying, excuse me, everybody, I thought your short
stop was a guy. But I mean said that I
did have the least of the smart The intelligence is
not standing up publicly.

Speaker 2 (01:13:04):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 4 (01:13:07):
Can we have somebody call? I don't because I think
I've done enough.

Speaker 1 (01:13:09):
That was a place scape. All right. I'm seven one
three two one two five seven ninety. If you want
to apologize to somebody, somebody you hurt their feelings back
in college seven one three two one two five seven ninety,
we'll talk. Is this our buddy J in line three?
The young man on line three that was the U
that called you while I was going Rossie? Is that
is that really who it is?

Speaker 2 (01:13:31):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:13:31):
Maybe you want to talk to confirm that. Maybe it
talks from trade deadline with Jay seventh one. He knows
ball more than JE knows better, and more than about.

Speaker 4 (01:13:37):
A lot of things.

Speaker 1 (01:13:38):
Seven one three two one two five seven night all right,
eleven forty eight. If you have something you want to
apologize for.

Speaker 4 (01:13:45):
Let your voice be heard.

Speaker 1 (01:13:46):
It's seven one three two one two five seven. How
I'd like to apologize on behalf of the person that's
in our building that can't urinate in the urine all
There was urine all over the floor when I went
to go to the bathroom about two mites ago. It's ridiculous.
It's a huge bull, Jonathan. You got a wide area
to just do your thing spray. How do you miss?

(01:14:10):
How do you miss? It's it's not even a bowl.
It's a toil.

Speaker 4 (01:14:14):
I'm talking about the urinal and it's good size.

Speaker 1 (01:14:17):
Journal. It's not like a little small one. It's a
big one. Sorry, guys, I was in a hurry.

Speaker 4 (01:14:21):
God, Ross, how.

Speaker 1 (01:14:23):
Do you yeurnate on a floor as you're an adult
in a major office building in the heart of the galleria,
Go on the go. I mean, if you're a golf
game mall, I kind of get it. I mean mine, God,
but come on, men, drop trasshere and just hit the

(01:14:46):
damn bowl. Hash ta hit the bowl. Hit the bowl.
You just start a campaign and do PSA. S Hi
it's Matt Thomas, Hi friends, Matt Thomas, Voice of the
Houston Rockets, host of the Matt Thomas Show a ten
o'clock until two on Sports Talk seven ninety. All of
us here understand the needs of what men have to

(01:15:06):
go through, and that means you're a nation. It could
be once a day, it could be twice a day,
could be once at four o'clock in the morning, could
be twice between two and six pm. And the least
you can do, especially if you're in an office building
in a high end area of the Galleria, is unzip
your pants, pull them down to your knees, pull it out,
and hit the ball. So on, behalf of all of

(01:15:29):
us here at iHeartMedia, the Houston Rockets, and Sports Talk
seven ninety, the Matt Thomas Show at Ross. Really it's
just Math, Thomas and Ross tend to two hashtag hit
the ball, thank you. That's all I'm asking. Just hit
the damn ball. Hit the ball, thank you. Matt.

Speaker 4 (01:15:47):
All right, this is gonna get awkward.

Speaker 1 (01:15:50):
Jay, my name is Matt. You talked to Ross a
few weeks ago.

Speaker 12 (01:15:53):
Jay.

Speaker 4 (01:15:53):
How are you okay?

Speaker 1 (01:15:56):
Jay? All right? How's your summer treating you?

Speaker 13 (01:16:00):
It's good, it's good.

Speaker 1 (01:16:02):
Has your dad or mom taken you to some Astros
games this year.

Speaker 14 (01:16:06):
Yes, a lot, that's good.

Speaker 6 (01:16:09):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:16:09):
What's your favorite thing to eat at the Astros game?
Probably like chack oh, shake shack. Yeah, ok, yeah, I
got your respect for that, all right, And let me
ask what else? Uh do you do the wave?

Speaker 13 (01:16:27):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (01:16:29):
Ross. The rest of the conversation is yours. Hey, Jay,
why'd you call us today?

Speaker 13 (01:16:33):
Because so it is almost a Shade deadline? So I
want to talk about the Shade deadline? Yes, And when
I was the last time on the call, I told
you about Bliss Matthews.

Speaker 1 (01:16:45):
You did, Jay, You came in to brag about how
you said Bryce Matthews didn't need a whole lot of
season in Triple A and he was ready.

Speaker 13 (01:16:52):
Yes, he was ready.

Speaker 1 (01:16:54):
Yeah, he's got three home runs. Now he's hit he's
got three home runs. He is hitting under two hundred.
But he does have a lot of power, doesn't he? Yes?

Speaker 13 (01:17:02):
Ah h.

Speaker 1 (01:17:04):
So what are you thinking about for the deadline for
the Astros?

Speaker 3 (01:17:08):
Now?

Speaker 13 (01:17:08):
People are saying, like anybody so west from the Diamondbacks
to the basement because but it is injured. There's no
news on it, but it is so maybe talking that
the basement a resty bat like a line on home,
the lands on the wet socks maybe and it starting

(01:17:32):
to push you.

Speaker 3 (01:17:35):
And that's it.

Speaker 4 (01:17:35):
Are you concerned about lands of Colors?

Speaker 1 (01:17:39):
Yes? What?

Speaker 4 (01:17:41):
What? What unnerves you about him right now?

Speaker 13 (01:17:45):
I mean he's always in every time. I mean he
did bad against the Mayness, he always did good against
the Dodgers. He didn't good, he didn't diet good at home,
he soaks at home. But at the world he's good.

Speaker 1 (01:18:05):
Yeah, that's true. Do you uh so, what what kind
of prospects do you think the Astros are gonna have
to give up? Because you know Josh Naylor is a Mariner.
I know you know that.

Speaker 13 (01:18:14):
Yes, yoss nails got treating to the mailing news.

Speaker 1 (01:18:20):
All right, so let's let's put things in priority. You're
wrapping up our phone. Call Jay, you want a left
handed bat? You want a right hand and reliever? Do
you do you want a starting picture? The starting picture?

Speaker 4 (01:18:34):
Are you worried about Jake Myers and his potential return?

Speaker 13 (01:18:39):
I mean I think he would call baby, but I
don't know. Maybe the doctor's are they're gonna do an
albus I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:18:49):
Okay, that seems fair, Jay. I want you to have
a wonderful one. Are you going back to school.

Speaker 13 (01:18:56):
The August twelfth?

Speaker 4 (01:18:57):
August twelfth? And what school is that.

Speaker 13 (01:19:01):
God is?

Speaker 1 (01:19:02):
And what great will you be entering? Fifth? You said? Wow, Well,
I'm so proud that you called the show. Jay, have
a great rest of your summer. You know you can
always call us, and you cannot call during recess or lunch.
Your teachers will be mad at you.

Speaker 2 (01:19:21):
Okay, all right, thank you, bye.

Speaker 1 (01:19:23):
Jay, We'll see you later. All right, Jay's got his
party sled up, set up. We got your replacement lined
up all day? Why is he replacing me? You hear that?
What do you mean? I mean, Jonathan, you're the first,
You're you're the favorite of the board to leave next.

(01:19:43):
All wrong.

Speaker 4 (01:19:45):
We gotta get you to retirement each Look, I will
leave you in twelve years. Does that seem fair?

Speaker 1 (01:19:51):
No, that's that's only about That's only four thousand plus days,
twelve more years of this. I'm not holding you back.
You know where you know I'm tasting.

Speaker 4 (01:20:05):
Let me see what's going on?

Speaker 1 (01:20:06):
Do you go? I'm looking right now. Go around to Tulsa,
get that dream job of yours. Twelve two in h Town.

Speaker 15 (01:20:19):
Good morning, Stern, Bars.

Speaker 3 (01:20:39):
And Welcome downur and three of about Tommy showing Ross
there's his Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 5 (01:20:54):
But this thing has brought a lot of joy to
the rest of us. So it was hilarious.

Speaker 1 (01:20:59):
Like if you and I were caress like that, take
a photo of it, Why would you go in this direction?
It would We just swerved so far off the path.
I don't know you know this or not. We mentioned

(01:21:19):
it very briefly on the show yesterday. The w W
E Raw was a Tota Center last night. Oh man,
it was great one. What was your fair part of it?
When that guy oiled up guy pinned the other oiled
up guy in his underwear? Chad, Chad is I just

(01:21:47):
got back. Matt has me to leave, so I really
would and got some coffee. I'm back now chat h.

Speaker 2 (01:22:01):
Yeah, that's a jam.

Speaker 1 (01:22:02):
He's the one on old Whopper two running rings. Then
you get it four or five dollars, then you shove
it in your mouth, then you get sick. Bigkay. Oh
hell no, I don't want to meet that guy. Why
they put Meghan thee Stallions in the intros game up,

(01:22:25):
Wait a minute, but you're crushing me earlier. Alright, Okay,
Megan thee stallions that you're around.

Speaker 4 (01:22:31):
I'm furacious. I don't know. I'd rather look at you
have a conversation. Didn't have it to like?

Speaker 1 (01:22:38):
You know, how are you gonna get neck kisses in
though you're sitting next to you?

Speaker 4 (01:22:42):
Why are you at really'es have a neck kiss Why
are you not?

Speaker 1 (01:22:45):
What do you mean? You you neck kiss at Bapplebee's
Like I could eat ridge twice a week comfortably. I
could eat sausage twice a week. But you don't ever
listen to me. Ever, I'm wrong too often? Yes, hoop

(01:23:07):
that for future purpose?

Speaker 2 (01:23:09):
That a right.

Speaker 1 (01:23:12):
Sports talk seventy. We are down the home switch. We
have an hour fifty five left of this show. That's
it flying by, Maddie. It is flying by. Uh, those
of you are peeling the curtain back. Eric in Bay
City has been waiting to talk to us for an
hour and eight minutes and we've.

Speaker 4 (01:23:27):
Yet to take his call.

Speaker 1 (01:23:28):
We appreciate his patience, and there's a chance to make
get his call him before the the show. I mean,
it's not going to be good as a ten year
old whose calls are better Jay the Kid Jay or
Eric in Base City. Jay?

Speaker 4 (01:23:42):
Now, how long are you going to wait, let Eric
wait how much longer?

Speaker 1 (01:23:44):
Well, I'm not I don't know what's up to you.
It's your show.

Speaker 4 (01:23:47):
No, it's our show.

Speaker 1 (01:23:48):
Well we can take him after and then the beginning
of the next segment. All right, but we got to
get to the news. And you texted wax City respond. Oh,
I forgot you forgot the text again. I texted my text.
Look at respond Geez. You know I'm a bad texter.
You are the worst texter. Gosh. Remember the rule is
if you have if someone texts you and it's before

(01:24:08):
ten pm, you have two hours to respond to that
text or your phone gets locked in sleep. You do
what I want. I don't mean you know what. I
should apologize for that. I'll apologize for it next segment
next Friday. Because there was man, Yeah, there were some
big ones I missed. I should have responded to you.

(01:24:29):
Don't ever listen to me with that gospel. It's time
for the news. Get wrong everything all right, Matt, You
do got the news at now here? Old sports sucks
seven idy A lot of stuff to get to here,
all the docket. Unfortunately, last night the Astros had to

(01:24:54):
deal with the fastest fastball in Dykin Park history. Oh
one a smith and that is off the plate away four.
By the way, that last bitch, I don't think I've
ever seen that here.

Speaker 2 (01:25:08):
One oh four point one.

Speaker 1 (01:25:09):
Yeah, that may be the fastest pitch ever thrown in
this ballpark. Mason Miller is a friggin Lamborghini on the
A's playing with a bunch of Honta Civics, but he
was awesome last night. He got four outs. Civics, cut
the job done, exactly gets you from pointy eight to
point there are major league players. Yeah, now you're not

(01:25:31):
gonna go turbo. I didn't call him broken down, jeloppes, jelopies. Okay,
continue on the A's QL. Hey, those Hona Civics were
rumin five and two over the Astros as they got
the victory. Unfortunately, Jason Alexander was not very good. He
gave up eleven hits, five earned runs. Hector Narris were
two scoreless, but Astros zero for five with the runners

(01:25:53):
in scoring position of the one sixty two. We talked
about this Matt mostly a black game yesterday, but the
Astro is the loss. They look to bounce back today
with my guy Ryan Gusto on the Hill. Yeah, we
are Gusta Hollocks. We're calling it quality start for Ryan
Gustow today. By the way, the Astros leader has been

(01:26:14):
shaved to five because the Mariners last night one I
got news for a Gang Angels. Seattle has won seven
of ten, the Rangers have won eight of ten. The
Rangers are seven back, and Seattle just got Josh Naylor. Yeah.
I might be wrong. This might be a three teamer
after I was thinking about it being a two team. Well,

(01:26:36):
you've already declared them champs. They're gonna win the division.
But it's just it may not be as silky smooth
and easy as I thought it was going to be. Okay,
the Rangers are playing here, right, maybe this is going
to four. I wonder if the Josh Naylor move as
all of a sudden perked up the ash Dana Brown
in terms I think it should, because I will bet
you this that's not the last move the Mariners make,

(01:26:58):
at least one would.

Speaker 4 (01:26:59):
Be so out of their comfort zone to do that.

Speaker 1 (01:27:00):
By the way, why they're not big spenders and free
agent spenders, but they got prospects. They can make moves. Well,
apparently the Asters are gonna have some prospects are gonna
get give up. They want to make these moves too.
It's a big your report, you Heineo Suarez a heneo
A heel. I don't know if I believe that, dude.

(01:27:25):
Do I believe that there was a phone call made?
Of course there was. Man interesting phone calls are He's
on the radar, Sidney Sweeney's on my radar, Sidney Sweeney.

Speaker 4 (01:27:38):
I'll fall for it. Don't fall for it? Sorry, what
were we doing?

Speaker 1 (01:27:46):
Oh nows at noon? Yes, Matt speaking of that, Yes,
John Sidney Sweeney moment, Josh Naylor traded for two of
the top thirty. I think I believe it was the
number ninth and somewhere in the top thirty. Another prospect
for they say Aramners. Yes, I know, I know this
information for the News at noon, but I forgot. But
Josh Naylor, most importantly is a Seattle Mariner bolstering the lineup.

(01:28:08):
They've already got good pitching. They are coming for the
Houston astros Man, how we feeling uh confident? Yet? Still
it's you know what it's like. It's like it's like
a tropical wave of moisture out way way out in h.

Speaker 4 (01:28:24):
It's not even a name, not a name Storm System.

Speaker 1 (01:28:28):
Yet it's like it's like, uh, southeast of Cuba. I've
still got to pay attention to Okay ops plus a
one to twenty three for Josh Naylor. He's got eleven
home runs on the season in ninety three games and
a lefty first baseman much needed for the Seattle Marriers.
What does that mean for the Houston Astros and their

(01:28:48):
trade prospects? We shall see, all right, all right, elsewhere
in the news at noon, Matt, you have uh President
Trump putting out an executive order for college sports with
regards to nil and pay for play. M m. Trump's

(01:29:10):
order sets out specific guidelines for preserving athletic scholarships based
on an athletic department's annual revenue. Also declares that schools
could not permit athletes to accept quote third party pay
for play payments into quote future federal funding can be used,
among other tools to force schools to abide by the
administration's policy. Well, you're talking about this with Gordiafair. The

(01:29:34):
only way you really do this, and again this is
an overly simplistic view, is you just basically make it
a professional organization. Correct players, what a feeling. This order
is not constitutional, as many executive orders. I'm not even
just talking about this guy. It may be just done
in theory to say, hey, I'm at least trying to
do something to put some sort of regulation behind it.

(01:29:57):
Scarlett Trhansson or the other girl, Sydney Yeah, you can't
even remember her name. There's your answer, brother, Sidney swing
on now, Scarlett Johansson, Come on now, answer is come
on now, just say the answer. The hips don't lie.
Scarjoe all Timer, even though you know she's passed her

(01:30:19):
prime and she can still get somebody. All right, young
en Sidney Swingey or Scarlett Johansson, is your girl listening?

Speaker 11 (01:30:27):
Scarlett Joan, Scarlet Johansson sitting, don't full with this, Sydney sweeneyhead.

Speaker 1 (01:30:31):
Dude, Yeah, I know what he's saying. A little flattened back.
I've seen too many of those. Is that the issue
that she's flatten the back?

Speaker 4 (01:30:40):
No, she, Scarlett Johansson has class shots fired.

Speaker 1 (01:30:47):
Oh snap, Any guys, don't tell you that. Sidney Sweeney
just like you just saw that. She just had an
American Eagle.

Speaker 4 (01:30:53):
Commercial with just straight breast. That's all it was.

Speaker 1 (01:30:56):
But I'm sure I AMDB hated it. You're seeing that
she's never mind. Uh, all right, that's the I'm walking
out of here. Okay, nless you want something else. Maybe
WEX calls at twelve thirty.

Speaker 9 (01:31:10):
We don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:31:10):
He has not responded. Oh geez, all right up next,
We've got some NC double A interesting things I want
to talk to you about. Okay. We've got a commissioner
of a sport that has got his head in the sand,
and we have one school that may be wanting to
jet from one conference to the other.

Speaker 4 (01:31:26):
We'll get to that.

Speaker 1 (01:31:27):
Okay. Maybe a WEX update at the bottom of the
ar if he if he pays attention. He's not a
great texture either. He's not. He's better than you, but
he's not. He's not a great one. It's a little
bar Adam Klant is the best text at this station.

Speaker 2 (01:31:37):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (01:31:38):
Bottom line for the things he doesn't do. The one
thing he does do properly is text seven one three
two one two five seven outy seven one three two
one two five seven ninty with a word for Affordable
Tree Service twelve nineteen, Sports Talk seven ounty and is
Matt and Ross with do you want anything goes Friday?

Speaker 4 (01:31:55):
Ross, do you if you just wond the essence if
anything goes Friday to the audience.

Speaker 1 (01:31:57):
Today, you know you never Matt Hey Ross, what's the
essence if anything goes Friday? Hitting us Friday? Anything you
want to talk about? Phone lines are wide open and available,
whether you are ten years old and no ball or
you're Eric in basity and you don't. Seven one three
two one two five seven ninety is the phone number.

(01:32:18):
Seven one three two one two five seven ninety wide
ranging of topics. We can talk about the astros, the
trade deadline, needs, what you would like to see happen,
CORSEI Texans into training camp as well, and uh Also
the summer heat is hitting. If you want some tips
on how to cool off from Matt Thomas, we can

(01:32:39):
get those as well. My number one is dip, dip
your toes, your entire body in the pool. What if
you don't have a pool, go to your neighbor's house
or a cold shower. Cold showers, Yeah, seems too short lived.
And al Vera, if you burn yourself Alberta and put
it in the refrigerator, cools you off. Molasfrad Alivera absolutely

(01:33:01):
what yeah, I've never heard of this. Yeah, we have
Alvera and the refrigerator, the freezer of the refrigerator not
next to cheeks.

Speaker 4 (01:33:09):
He's still in the freezer.

Speaker 1 (01:33:10):
He checked. That's sickening. It's fine, all right. Uh did
you don't look? Did you see who's thinking about leaving
their conference? I did not. North Carolina wants to go
to the SEC. Now see is that a real report
you get? Okay? No, I'm asking Usually On three is

(01:33:32):
pretty much on brand, right, Okay, cool? I saw the
executive order thing from then, it was like, is this real?
Donny T's getting involved in the in the sports. And
actually there's another story from on three that we need
to talk about as well. Did you see the the
Memphis dB was giving defensive signals? So the UTSA quarterback?

Speaker 2 (01:33:51):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (01:33:51):
So first of all, okay, you bring up is North
Carolina would like to kick the tires and go in
the SEC. It's just basically what the Aggies did many
years ago. They didn't care about playing Texas, they didn't
care about playing Baylor or Texas Tech on a regular
Oklahoma at the time.

Speaker 2 (01:34:11):
They wanted to go.

Speaker 4 (01:34:11):
To greener pastures.

Speaker 1 (01:34:13):
North Carolina has been entrenched in playing duke in North
Carolina State and Miami and all those easy Wake Forest
and UH Virginia for all those years, and they're ready
to give it up. Now does the SEC want to expand?

Speaker 2 (01:34:28):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:34:29):
It comes across.

Speaker 1 (01:34:30):
The the report is from inside Carolina. Yeah, whatever that is,
that's that's Bro's talking to bros. I. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:34:38):
I don't think there's.

Speaker 1 (01:34:39):
Serious legs to it. But it doesn't startle me. The
problem is North Carolina's football brand is right now pretty
high because of Belichick. Yes, but would you characterize North
Klina's football brand is good enough to carry in the
SEC ten years from now? It's Tier two to Tier three.
You got to think about the others for well, no,

(01:35:01):
that's sorry, I disagree with you. I think about it all. Yeah,
they don't care. If that was the case, Kansas would
have gone to the SEC.

Speaker 4 (01:35:08):
Yeah. Football, it's all about football. It's all about football.

Speaker 1 (01:35:11):
So I just thought it was curious that North Carolina
was at least whispering out there.

Speaker 4 (01:35:15):
That's no surprise they were.

Speaker 1 (01:35:17):
But you cannot have a great basketball program and drive
yourself to a different league.

Speaker 4 (01:35:22):
It requires football to be good, all right.

Speaker 1 (01:35:25):
Story number two, Memphis had a player, a defensive back
who sent text messages to the quarter Is it the
quarterback at UTSC has looked like ig dms well from
the screenshots? Is it a quarterback at UTSA did what
it was? Yes, UTSA played Memphis last year and UTSA

(01:35:45):
won forty four to thirty six I think was a
final score in that game. A Memphis safety taj ra El,
who was transferring by the way, leaked elements of Memphis
defensive playbook to UTSA ahead of the teams November second showdown.
Roadrunners won that game forty four to thirty six. UTSA

(01:36:06):
quarterback Owen McCown and the deck. The direct messages between
the two were obtained by something called Tiger Sports Report.
That'd be Memphis, not LSU. Here's the Tim Pernanti. We're
gonna bring up Tim tim As, a commissioner of the
American Athletic Conference.

Speaker 4 (01:36:24):
He says the following.

Speaker 1 (01:36:26):
I think a lot of it has been sensationalized, and
some of it, quite frankly, is clickbait. Okay, He says,
I'm aware of the situation. I've had very open dialogue
with Coach Trailer and Coach Silverfield about it.

Speaker 2 (01:36:38):
Those are the two coaches.

Speaker 1 (01:36:40):
They're going to address it. There's not really much the story.
I think a lot of it again has been sensationalized
and as much ado about it. There's little rey screenshots
of like this clipboard or notebook, and he says, far
left is coverages. I'll send you a better list showing
you the calls they run quarters and none of the
safeties can cover. By the way, sensationalize the wrong word.

(01:37:02):
If you want to say photoshopped, that's different. Sensationalized means
you've embellished something that may or may not have happened,
if there was any communication between those two players, whether
it was minutia or anything beyond Hey, I like my team. Hey,
I like my team. That's not sensational that's frankly, that's
openly one person helping another team.

Speaker 8 (01:37:24):
This.

Speaker 1 (01:37:25):
Yeah, this doesn't look like clickbait. Literally. The message says,
no reroutes on the slot in the field. Safety is
the weakest link in the defense. His hamstring is hurting.
But if you run out of eligibility when you play him,
the numb when you play him, he's number zero. He's
talking about a safety with a hurt hamstring and how

(01:37:45):
they can't cover Okay, this is okay, this is Tim Pernetti.
This is the commissioner talking Tim tim Bernetti is Scott
is uh not Betty Bright.

Speaker 4 (01:37:54):
I'm gonna give you example.

Speaker 1 (01:37:54):
I'm two. You're ready for this?

Speaker 16 (01:37:55):
Sure?

Speaker 1 (01:37:56):
He was asked today about bringing all college sports media
rights deals together like pro leagues. He says revenue could triple. Quote,
I've seen the potential upside of consolidation. You're saying, Matt,
what is he's trying to say? He is trying to
say he believes the American Conference should take their media

(01:38:19):
rights deal and combine it with the Big Tens media
rights deal, and combine it with the SEC's media rights
deal and the Big twelves media rights deal and the
ACC and just we could all share equally like they
do in the NBA and Major League Baseball and in
the NFL. We do have comment from Greg Sanky on
this matter. Sis Obama, ass up, man.

Speaker 4 (01:38:40):
Damn, you're really stupid.

Speaker 1 (01:38:44):
And I don't like to use that term very often,
but I feel like I do quite a bit. Okay,
I mean, if you're Greg SANKI the commissioner of the SEC,
if you're even the commissioner of the Big twelve.

Speaker 4 (01:38:55):
Brett yourmark. You are, like, what are you saying, you dumbass.

Speaker 1 (01:38:58):
You're going to try to give me the u AB
is going to bring as much the table as any
of my schools. Shut your ball mass up.

Speaker 4 (01:39:04):
It's ridiculous. Now, I understand what I understand.

Speaker 1 (01:39:09):
He'd like to have that happen, but to a microphone
if you want to get everybody to laugh at you.
So let's take a look at what old Twitter had
to say about Oh, let's see here.

Speaker 4 (01:39:23):
I'm trying to think here.

Speaker 1 (01:39:28):
Yeah, it's it's all what I upside for the group
of five. This will not work out the way he
thinks it will. Britt, this guy named Britt, says hard Pass.
He's a big fan of University of Texas. Blah blah blah.
It's sometimes you just have to, you know, the inside voice.
Ross is very popular with them. Like, there's a lot
of things I'd like to say publicly, but I can't
because I can't use the outside voice.

Speaker 4 (01:39:49):
But I can use my inside voice.

Speaker 1 (01:39:50):
I don't keep it to myself. Tim Pernetty should have
kept that to himself. Self awareness is key. You should
know that you're not as big as the SEC in
Big ten. It makes zero, absolutely nothing. The American Conference
can give the Big ten the SEC they don't get already. Yeah,
and combining the deals is gonna make them more money.

(01:40:11):
Make that makes sense?

Speaker 2 (01:40:13):
It's not.

Speaker 4 (01:40:14):
It's stupid, all right?

Speaker 1 (01:40:15):
Eric in Bay City has been waiting one hour and
thirty one minutes.

Speaker 2 (01:40:18):
Do we take his call? Yes?

Speaker 4 (01:40:21):
Or does wexer join us?

Speaker 1 (01:40:22):
Oh? I don't think I have a I don't think
I have an answer from WEX. Let's see what is
he doing?

Speaker 4 (01:40:29):
What could be?

Speaker 1 (01:40:30):
Don't you check your phone like multiple times a half hour? No?
I don't all right, Maybe WEX joins us. Maybe he doesn't.
Maybe Eric in Bay City talks some asters with us.
No response, h Maybe he doesn't think WEX is mad
at us. Well, we've done nothing wrong. I don't think so.
We promoted the A team. We don't. You know, we

(01:40:51):
don't begrudge him for not doing any astros on decks
on the weekends or anything.

Speaker 4 (01:40:56):
You call him out daily. I say he's our Texans insider.

Speaker 1 (01:41:00):
You call him out daily and then ask him for
to be on your show daily. He's been on two
straight days. Can't be a thirdy to be that big
of a deal. You know what I understand WEX. We're
also can comment from WEX. Shit bum ass up man,
WEX please call it seven one three two one two
five seven ETI seven to one three two one two
five seven NINTI and then he goes Friday. The Texans
had a very short walk through today. They actually had

(01:41:23):
to go inside of their bubble to uh practice because
the weather was not great in that area of town.
And we'll get hopefully an update from WEX sometime. We'll
give us an update if anybody was out there. I mean, well,
there's I forget what I said. We want WEX to
call in with the update. With this trained eye. Yeah,
he likes it like there are certain things like what

(01:41:45):
is the I'll throw this out before okay, what is
the number one thing you like about covering sports? Uh?
The big moments like playoff games that I will never
get being a minute made park when at the time
this what was called when Jordan hit that tank, that

(01:42:06):
three run tank to beat the Mariners, being at Game
five in twenty seventeen. Fortunately, the Rockets haven't given me
many great moments, but you were in the Arena for
the Championships. You cannot the the energy it had, the
the amount of human energy packed into one building and
it explodes like that in a big, all time moment.

(01:42:27):
It's unforgettable. And being able to be there for those
moments are are absolutely it's the absolute best. Yeah, being
at the big moment. And again we don't get too
good to a lot of them, but get to get
to some of them, and you've been able to light
well you would did what did you guys.

Speaker 4 (01:42:41):
Go in twenty three to the playoffs? What you went
to Arlington and all that?

Speaker 1 (01:42:44):
Right? Yeah, Oh my god, jose A l two vas
bomb at the end of Game six and then going
on air and doing the postgame show for two hours
talking about just talking to people calling in man, that
was all awesome. Yeah, that was awesome, just for two hours,
like great, my favorite times. We're doing sports radio with

(01:43:05):
it on this station in the middle of the night.
I think I did it like a one to three
am shift. I think at one point during that Yeah. Yeah,
when they won the World Series in twenty two, we
were at a certain hotel that was spending money but
they aren't now, and we were on an Airtel three
a m. And oh, I might have had a couple
of bruskies. That's fine, right, Yeah, those are unforgettable moments.
I will be on my deathbed thinking about how great that.

(01:43:26):
Our favorite parts of being as talk show host and
for me, it's games are different because you get to
call literally what's happening, but it's talk show hosts. The
favorite part of it is being able to just directly
respond and interact with people as soon as because the
callers are better, there's a motion to it. There's yes,
a little bit of second guess, there's a little bit
of elation. There's a little bit of that. So that's

(01:43:47):
the best part. The worst part would be for you.
The worst part for me is anything training camp related.
I okay, I under the all time. I just don't
get it. And JJ Watt that I eloquently on his
on his Twitter yesterday says, the people that paying super
close attention to every single thing that happens at a
training camp, it's just too much. And so I would say,

(01:44:10):
and I used to have the problem when I was
doing Utah Games University Utah Games, when I used to
go cover with the orders as a young guy Texans
a little bit go to Cougar practice. The football training
camp slash practices, to me, are the least.

Speaker 4 (01:44:27):
Fun thing I even like to do. I cut back
on it.

Speaker 2 (01:44:29):
Frankly.

Speaker 1 (01:44:30):
It's just it's just there's note enough benefit for me. Okay,
the training camp doesn't bother me, but also I don't go.
I would say the hardest thing about this job is
the never ending sports calendar. There's always a game. There's
always you got to watch all the Astros games, all
the Rockets games, all the Texans games. And I like
doing that, but it just the train keeps rolling. That's
why I like to go and get out in nature.

(01:44:51):
When I take a vacation, like I'm taking one in August,
I'm not gonna be on my phone. I'm not gonna
be watching games. I'm gonna be get back to Houston
and gotta catch up with your what you lost. Yeah,
but that's fine, especially with like baseball games that happened
a week ago. We're not necessarily talking about it. It's good
to observe at bats, defensive plays, blah blah blah. But
you gotta get away somehow, Jonathan, here's we're gonna get

(01:45:12):
away for some point. Well, you're gonna make up stuff
that happened. Here's what's gonna do, Ross, turn your microphone
off and your head set off. Okay, so Ross is
gonna be gone in August for a few days. Let's
let's just throw a bunch of things at him that
didn't really happen to have him react to it. Yeah,
you see what he says, You.

Speaker 4 (01:45:29):
Guys are rude. It'd be pretty funny. I probably shouldn't
say this in front of you. That the best bit
would be knowing about it.

Speaker 1 (01:45:36):
I mean, I'll occasionally check scores, but especially That's why
I like to go to national parks and when when
the like the the UH tower, the cell towers turn off,
not turn off, but I get out of range. That's
what I'm like, all right now a vacation. How do
you want to leave your legacy on seven ninety? I
don't care. I'll be dead. Yeah, but you want I
guess he's a made up word. It's not real. Okay, Well,

(01:45:58):
I'm I consider legacy words. So in my world for
I want you to say your fine, Pharewell's right now
in case you get eaten by some sort of lion.
I hope people thought that I was first of all,
funny kind oh god to everyone but you, and it
gave intelligent, reasonable takes, Okay, not hot takes, unfortunately, you know,

(01:46:22):
to my detriment, i'd probably free it you.

Speaker 4 (01:46:24):
Frankly, in fifteen years of the show, we've not given
enough hot takes.

Speaker 1 (01:46:28):
I know we'd be doing better we were doing a
low hanging fruit, but I don't care. I can sleep
just great at night, being who I am. All right,
let's talk to Caso at twelve thirty eight. Oh sorry, Eric,
you were supposed to go to you, but Caso's up next. Caso,
good afternoon to you.

Speaker 4 (01:46:44):
Hey guys, what's so up?

Speaker 1 (01:46:45):
Hi?

Speaker 16 (01:46:46):
Yu Yo?

Speaker 7 (01:46:48):
Ross?

Speaker 1 (01:46:48):
Where are you going next month? That's none of your business, bro, Bro,
I'm going to Colorado next month, Okay.

Speaker 16 (01:46:55):
I'm a world traveler like you. I want to last year,
I'm gonna go.

Speaker 1 (01:46:59):
I'll go. I'm gonna want me to tell you the truth.
I have a couple ideas, but I don't have a full, full,
concrete plan. But I will be going somewhere into nature,
and I'm thinking either maybe a long road trip or
somewhere west coast. Colorado's on the table. I'm thinking about
Vegas or Great Basin National Park. I'm thinking about going
back to Big Bend, and I might be going to California.

Speaker 16 (01:47:19):
Dude, Ross, I have done two different road trips from
Houston up into Portland up into Washington, and it is
my favorite drive from here to Sedona, up into the
Grand Canyon, to Lake Las Vegas to Lake Tahoe, all
the way up there. It is my favorite, my favorite time.

(01:47:42):
I love living in Houston, but too, I cannot stand.

Speaker 1 (01:47:46):
Being here all year long.

Speaker 16 (01:47:48):
Yes, it drives me nuts. I went to Japan last year.

Speaker 1 (01:47:51):
Have you been. I know you've been to Korea, Korean Taiwan,
Korean Taiwan. I have not been to Japan, and I
have driven to Montana and back.

Speaker 16 (01:48:01):
My my, my, My two cents is the US dollar
goes so far in Japan. Absolutely, there's they are they
they need tourism. So I took a little lesson two
grand to Japan and came back with like eight hundred bucks.

Speaker 1 (01:48:18):
Dude, I was there for no way what.

Speaker 16 (01:48:20):
Yeah, man, I swear bro alright, anyway.

Speaker 1 (01:48:25):
I booked.

Speaker 16 (01:48:26):
I booked a round trip.

Speaker 6 (01:48:28):
Uh.

Speaker 16 (01:48:28):
It costs me, me and my wife, Miss kso for
both of us twelve hundred dollars.

Speaker 4 (01:48:33):
I booked at a year in advance.

Speaker 1 (01:48:34):
Oh okay, did it's it's so worth it.

Speaker 16 (01:48:38):
I when you heard you were going to be out
next month, I've I'll be out in twenty two days,
headed out to uh Steamboat, Colorado if I've ever heard
of it. Okay, it looks absolutely beautiful. I know me
and you share that love for nature and getting out
of the swamp. But yes, Uh just stoked, uh that
that you get to get out, man. And I know
Matthew is super, super bummed.

Speaker 1 (01:48:59):
I know he's gonna miss me. He won't say he was,
but he will.

Speaker 4 (01:49:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 16 (01:49:03):
Well, anything to get Eric from Baytown out off the
food phone call.

Speaker 1 (01:49:07):
Uh, don't bay City, don't be smirch bay Town.

Speaker 2 (01:49:10):
It's bay City.

Speaker 16 (01:49:11):
What's worse whatever, dude, I don't know. I live downtown
anything outside the sixton Loop as.

Speaker 4 (01:49:16):
Far to me.

Speaker 1 (01:49:17):
See, we're on the same page now, Okay, So I
got to live in the city.

Speaker 16 (01:49:21):
I grew up in Spring, so I'm I know exactly
where Matt's talking about. His little nook of the nook
of the of the city. It's it's far man. But
if it's out of the sixth in loop, I ain't.

Speaker 4 (01:49:32):
I ain't going preach. Thanks case, so thanks for your
chilicking call.

Speaker 1 (01:49:38):
So kay? So what caso? Essentially does he call the
show and he's like, I'm calling in to talk about
vacation stuff and whatever I can bring is better than
Eric in Bay Cities call it. It's anything goes Friday. Now,
Eric in basity has been waiting one hour and forty
four minutes. I'm gonna go look up steamboat come he call?
Did he call it ten o'clock or did he call
it eleven o'clock? That's an hour and forty five now,

(01:49:59):
so it's one forty five. He is waiting, think so
see there, Hey, checking saf he's still there. Oh steamboat springs.
Oh my god, Eric, are you there?

Speaker 7 (01:50:10):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (01:50:10):
Okay, Tanna make sure all right?

Speaker 1 (01:50:12):
Seven one three two one two five seven ninety seven
one three two one two five seven Natti. If you
want to join the phone conversation and it goes Friday,
you are more than welcome to do. So we've got
non Florida stories at one thirty. Is WEX texted back yet? No?
What the hell is he doing? Call way, don't ca't
call WEX life. He's taking in that man, I don't know.
He doesn't now, he doesn't sleep period. He's been a

(01:50:35):
Rando double a stat text at three o'clock in the morning.
You can't be you know, all right, Well, we were
gonna have WEX, so maybe we'll have Eric in Bay
City instead. Seven one three two one two five seven
ninety If you want to join the conversation seven one
three two one two five seven ninety twelve forty two,
it's a Matt Thomas old Ross.

Speaker 6 (01:50:53):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:50:53):
If you missed mec taging from earlier today, we're gonna
play that for a little bit at one twenty non
four stories one thirty hell yeah, not one fifty Here
on seven ninety twelve forty seven. It is the Matt
Thomas Show with Ross. Seven one three two one two
five seven h Let's go to the phones. Do you
want you? Ross?

Speaker 4 (01:51:08):
And then goes Friday.

Speaker 1 (01:51:09):
Appreciate everybody's listening, And we were gonna go to Eric
and Base City.

Speaker 4 (01:51:13):
But first Yankees Keith is with us. Keith, how the
hell are you?

Speaker 6 (01:51:17):
Hey?

Speaker 12 (01:51:17):
Happy Friday there, all.

Speaker 2 (01:51:19):
Of y'all, thank you too.

Speaker 12 (01:51:22):
So I want to give a shout out to my
grandson blazing being cheek.

Speaker 1 (01:51:28):
He's nine years old.

Speaker 12 (01:51:29):
He'd be his third year in a world in the
Junior Olympics. He's ready at the number within the top
twenty of all the nine year olds in the in
the country. At what Also, he's a hell of a
coca place?

Speaker 4 (01:51:46):
What does he do?

Speaker 1 (01:51:47):
Hell?

Speaker 12 (01:51:49):
No, I said he's a runner.

Speaker 1 (01:51:51):
He's a practice runner. Okay, okay, nine years Well, he
said he was blazing, So I kind of figured that
up and blazing Bingji, Blazing Bingji.

Speaker 12 (01:52:00):
You can you can google him.

Speaker 1 (01:52:01):
They called you blazing Maddie in college.

Speaker 12 (01:52:03):
Right, No, blazing Keith when I was in when I
was in college.

Speaker 1 (01:52:08):
Yeah, you're rolling him up, Keith.

Speaker 4 (01:52:11):
Hey, what was that other?

Speaker 1 (01:52:14):
Damn? I forgot what?

Speaker 12 (01:52:17):
Anyway, you don't have a happy Friday. You can google
blazing Benji. The only thing I don't like is his
daddy won't let him play flag football.

Speaker 4 (01:52:28):
That your son that won't him player? Ors? Is that
the son in law?

Speaker 12 (01:52:32):
No, that's my blazing the son in law. Yeah, my
daughter's husband.

Speaker 4 (01:52:39):
Well you probably didn't like him from the job, did you.

Speaker 12 (01:52:42):
No, he's a butthope?

Speaker 2 (01:52:43):
Okay, big time.

Speaker 4 (01:52:45):
Thank you very much, Keith.

Speaker 1 (01:52:47):
You gotta respect his decision. If he doesn't want his
nine year old playing football. You need a fool narrow television.
You gotta understand that. Keith Okay, by the way, speaking
of what he just brought up to end the conversation,
and I'm kind of questioning whether American basicity would have
been a better call than that. Uh, do not go
to your social media today and put the words Dante

(01:53:09):
Jones in who's that former duke basketball player NBA player
Dante d a h n t a y Dante Jones.
Don't do it? D h a n t y n
t y Dante d a h n d a h
n t a y Jones, Dante Jones, don't do it,

(01:53:33):
not discussing what he did. Tell me you look up
and coming. Hmm, I told you not to do it.
All right, let's go to eric and Base City. Oh no,
let's go first to Willa in Parentland at seven ninety

(01:53:55):
twelve fifty Willa.

Speaker 2 (01:53:56):
Good after, dude, A good afternoon, gentlemen.

Speaker 6 (01:54:00):
I was calling, Uh, I didn't get the call earlier
on the Ar'm sorry, but I heard Ross's sorry about uh,
you know Hollywood Hulk Cogan and I heard Adam yesterday.
You know, he was so upset and uh you know,
when I first heard the news on my Facebook, I
was about to write rip hul Cogan because you know,

(01:54:21):
Hollywood Hulk Cogan was like the best thing that happened
to me in like ninety six in high school. That
was that was one of the best times in uh
in in uh in wrestling. But I couldn't do it
because he's a racist, like just like he said, man
and and it tore me and I wanted to say
I'm sorry to the black people that I even thought

(01:54:41):
about writing rip to hol Cogan because he just went
out of such a disgrace. Even though I could separate
that he is still the best heel of all times.
Hollywood Hogan is the best heel of all times. Probably
top five characters of all times.

Speaker 1 (01:54:56):
You know what about this one, like he could be
the best heel of all time and the best baby
face of all time.

Speaker 4 (01:55:05):
Think about it.

Speaker 6 (01:55:05):
You know that's a yeah, that's a little but that's
a little older than me, Hulk Hogan. I was real
young during the Hulkamania.

Speaker 1 (01:55:12):
Well, hulk Comedia was the ultimate baby face decade. I
mean that's he he for for about thirteen years. He
was beloved by every wrestling fan. I mean there was
he was he John Cena's little quasi heel turn is nothing.
Uh Hulk Hogan for thirteen years was I mean, say
your prayers, eat your vitamins, all that kind of good stuff.

(01:55:34):
And then he got he turns to a heel and
saves a company from bankruptcy and put shoe Paulish on
his face. He did not do that. Yeah, he didn't
pick Now, he may have gone for just for men,
but marks a lot he could have. It could have
been a sharpie.

Speaker 6 (01:55:54):
I would say, I will say he is the most
famous wrestler of all time. He's sort of like Snoop
dogg Rep. He's not the best, but he is the
most famous.

Speaker 2 (01:56:04):
Right correct.

Speaker 4 (01:56:04):
That's a that's a good example.

Speaker 6 (01:56:07):
Yeah, so I would say, r I p the whole
Coogan and Resting Hill to Terry Bolivio whatever.

Speaker 4 (01:56:13):
Yeah, thank you, thank you all A good that might
make some more sense.

Speaker 1 (01:56:17):
Hey, Darry Olivia as a black person myself, don't have
the apodize all right, Before we go to Eric in
Bank City, let's go to Soups on the Matt Thomas Show.

Speaker 7 (01:56:28):
Hi Soups, Hey man, I know it's been a minute
I've been listening to you guys. I get Fridays off,
but I have a five horse sports call if you'll
allow me, if you want.

Speaker 1 (01:56:38):
Hey, we have about a minute and a half. Sorry
to be quick, all right, we'll make this quick, all right.

Speaker 7 (01:56:42):
The first one is they need to do a dating
app for sports fans only, because I'm tired of going
on there and trying to explain the Astros and the
Texans said none to none sports Houston girls like, we
need to do that. Second, on my wishless in life,
I need to get a cameo of the nineteen ninety
nine I played our PA announcer Matts with my name
for the Rockets from University Houston. Third, Happy Gyillmore two

(01:57:05):
was actually pretty funny. If you guys haven't checked that out.
It came out today. Fourth, shut your ballb mass up
to the Dodgers, Yankees and everybody else in Rangers especially.

Speaker 1 (01:57:16):
And then last one, I love you guys.

Speaker 7 (01:57:17):

guys hopefully be at the El Tample team. But anyways,
you guys are the greatest. Always Happy Friday, and go
rockets and yeah, that's it.

Speaker 1 (01:57:30):
Thanks soups. Thanks that was on a bad five to
your call. He ran to the gamut and the most
important thing of that group was if you would like
for me to do a cameo for you, go do
my gus. You can go right to my cameo click
right off of my Twitter account at sports mt Oh
you got a well, you got a discount on there
right now. I believe I do what do I cost

(01:57:50):
right now? Sixty percent off? That's what I'm talking Aboutah,
I'm twenty dollars. I'm fifty nine percent off my videos
this week. So it ends it's a limited time home.
Are you kidding me? I'm doing Ryan Holmes for fifteen.
For twenty dollars, you get to get me to do
a cameo for you, whether it's introducing yourself at a game,
whether it's saying hi to your best friend, whether it's

(01:58:13):
wishing somebody a happy birthday. You know what I can
have you? I could tell one of your friends to
shut their by mass up. That'd be actually pretty funny.
That would be funny. So I'm only twenty dollars Ryan
Holmes fifteen. I'm gonna get him. I'm normally forty nine dollars,
but I'm twenty dollars this week. I'll you're a cheap wore. Yeah,
they always send me emails. You want to go cheaper,

(01:58:34):
I said, y'all go cheaper. I've got nothing but five
star reviews. That's great, Matt, and I can actually do
it in twenty four hours if you want to. Now,
it costs a little bit more, but twenty four hour
delivery is available. How much are you Well, normally I'm
forty nine, but right now I'm twenty dollars. Julian Morales
is thirty five. I'm go get her, go good, get
good for her. Yeah, I bet it deserves a little

(01:58:56):
bit of that. But right now I'm twenty dollars on cameo.
So if you'd like to have me do something, I mean,
I'm not doing anything this weekend. Sure, I mean I'm
working Astros Baseball on Saturday. But that's you promise a
quick turnaround. You do birthday parties, No, these are cameo big.

Speaker 4 (01:59:10):
It will get you.

Speaker 1 (01:59:10):
How much I get you in a clown suit at
a birthday party, I'm not going to it. No, not
to put a nylon any the squaky noise. You know
why about this? Why don't we get.

Speaker 4 (01:59:18):
One for your girl?

Speaker 1 (01:59:19):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (01:59:20):
Wow, Matt, what what are you doing?

Speaker 1 (01:59:23):
You going for the throat talking about his lady? No,
happy birthday girl? You're Marion. Are gonna date your your
guy Jonathan and he's gonna hit nothing but not lo
or Actually her birthdays on the she didn't want to
hear from you.

Speaker 4 (01:59:37):
How about she sets fires and hits?

Speaker 1 (01:59:39):
Are he or you? Are you do you don't like todesa?
She's gonna chew you out. I mean I could eat
Teresa for twenty hours on cameo. Actually she called adiva today.
So why am I a diva?

Speaker 17 (01:59:48):
What?

Speaker 1 (01:59:48):
You don't even know me? I'm glad people can picked it.
People picked it up rather quickly. I like this.

Speaker 4 (01:59:55):
Your girl would love me in person? Good diva? That's
not no. I just have a refined I have refined taste.
Doesn't make me a diva.

Speaker 1 (02:00:02):
No, your tastes are not refined, very un I don't
want to sit here if you're only eating caviard, foy
grass or something, yeah, we'd call you refined.

Speaker 4 (02:00:10):
I don't want to sit in there for decond Dike
in Parks Sue me.

Speaker 1 (02:00:12):
Okay, yeah, I don't like flying coach, so it's called
not down to earth. It's called for being refined, so
it's called being stuck up.

Speaker 4 (02:00:20):
All right.

Speaker 1 (02:00:21):
Before the top of the r we'll go to eric
in Bay City. But first Steve is with us on
the Matt Thomas Show. Steve Good Afternoon.

Speaker 18 (02:00:27):
Hey, hey, Matt, Uh, tell me about I like Dunkin
Donuts and yeah you do, yes, yeah, Well do you
remember when they changed the fat they fried the donuts in?
There was a do you recall that that was sometimes? Gosh,
it's been twenty years ago.

Speaker 1 (02:00:45):
No, you know what I am. Uh, their donuts are Okay,
I do love the toast of coconut. That's my favorite
flavor there. But I would not if I'm gonna go
get a glaze in Houston, I'm gonna go to Shipley
because I'm gonna represent Houston. Uh, but the toast of
coconut is one of my favorite donuts. But I don't
know when they change our grease.

Speaker 18 (02:01:01):
Yeah they did, they anyway, It was real animal ar anyway,
but they were just so much in so many and
I complained and lots of lots of other people complained.
Oh yeah, it was a big thing, well for the
people that really liked him. But and you know, I
was thinking about you've been going to like Mouth Barbecue

(02:01:22):
and yes, and uh, what was the other one?

Speaker 4 (02:01:25):
We went to Rinkertons.

Speaker 18 (02:01:27):
That Rinkertons. Yeah, that's it, so I thought, And you know,
we haven't heard from Dale in a while.

Speaker 6 (02:01:33):
Ah.

Speaker 1 (02:01:35):
You know, I make this promise to you, Steve, and
thank you for the phone call. We will hear from
uh Dale from Delicious Barbecue next week, don't you think. Yeah,
it's been a wall training camp report. He's gonna be
feeding Nick Cayley for the first time, feeding Cam Robinson
for the first time.

Speaker 4 (02:01:53):
Okay, yeah, so.

Speaker 1 (02:01:54):
Delicious Biden Dale Brinston will be with us sometime next
week on a Delicious Barbecue. All right. Twelve eight final
hour The Matt Thomas Show of Ross includes a visit
with Brian McTaggart, includes some ball phone calls from you.

Speaker 4 (02:02:06):
Non Florida stories and hell yeah or not? Ross. We're
fifty minutes away from Hell.

Speaker 1 (02:02:11):
You are not.

Speaker 2 (02:02:14):
Five zero?

Speaker 4 (02:02:16):
What's the category? You know we always talk about deaths
on Hell.

Speaker 1 (02:02:21):
Is somebody celebrating a really big birthday? I don't know, Well,
you know a whole How about the fact that Lindsay
Buckingham and uh Stevie Nicks are putting out their first
their album that they had Little Blank is fifty eight today.
You know they're you know, there was a big billboard
in downtown LA and they thought maybe that Fleetwood Mac
was getting back together. No, they're just gonna They're going

(02:02:42):
to They're reprinting their first album together before they were
Fleetwood Mac. I'm just throwing something out there.

Speaker 2 (02:02:50):
I mean, I ain't perfect.

Speaker 1 (02:02:51):
They do Fleetwood Mac's first album. We'll figure something out.
We'll do dunkin Donuts Oils twelve fifty nine on seven
ninety with Ross.

Speaker 19 (02:03:01):
We've got some trades going on, at least one big
trade in Major League Baseball this afternoon, and it involves
a position the Astros might be looking for.

Speaker 1 (02:03:16):
ROSSI. The New York Yankees, who do have prospects, who
do have plenty of money, have made a trade and
they get a third basement from the Colorado Rockies. Yes,
a left hander Ryan McMahon thought of as a possible
target for the Houston Astro, a left handed bat that

(02:03:39):
plays third base. Yes, and the Astros could not get him. No,
they could not number eight prospect of the Yankees and
the number twenty one prospect. Now, I think they have
had a really good system in years past. I don't
think they're thought of as one of the best in
baseball now, but I can go look that up as
far as farm system rankings and the it's all subjected
by the way, yes it is up. Well, I mean,

(02:04:07):
you know, it's funny because we talked earlier in the
week about standing Pat, and how do we feel if
the astro stood Pat. Because you've got so many pictures
coming back, can I shift my argument to maybe they've
got to go get a bat that with if these
guys are at least at double A, maybe in the
next three weeks come to my side, Mattie. I mean,

(02:04:27):
we welcome you with opening, but it's you could be
some you could just cause this situation is obviously fluid.
I wouldn't be saying this if I didn't think that
Spencer Ragetty was getting closer. We had no signs of
it until we actually saw him put a uniform on
and throw pitches.

Speaker 2 (02:04:41):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 1 (02:04:41):
Well, you know he can tell what he's doing side
and rehabn and progressing and not having setbacks. Of course,
setbacks canna happen anytime, and I understand why you're worried
about that.

Speaker 4 (02:04:49):
We've seen a lot of setbacks.

Speaker 1 (02:04:50):
Yeah, I mean, trust me, I wasn't the only one thinking, oh,
wake me again, wake me up when they all show up,
and that's what I'll still say, wake me up when
they all are here, wake me up when go go exactly,
don't lead us hanging on like a yoyo. So we've
seen the Mariners make a move, We've seen the Yankees
make a move.

Speaker 2 (02:05:09):
You know what.

Speaker 1 (02:05:09):
The the overall riding sentiment is this American League is
wide open. We had Jim Bound on the show earlier
this week that said as much, I mean, realistically, let
me know, run other teams. Can Detroit win the American League? Yes?

Speaker 4 (02:05:23):
Can the Yankees win it? Absolutely? Can Toronto win it? Sure?
Can the Astros win it? That's four.

Speaker 1 (02:05:30):
Can Texas somehow continue to continue there high in ways
and get back in this rice? Say? Probably not? Well,
we'll see if they make some moves. I mean, realistically,
there's four teams that would not feel any more confident
over the other teams. Here's the deal with Ryan McMahon though,
at coors Field, Oh, here we go, this is the
best thing. Go ahead to fifty six ops. Eleven home

(02:05:53):
runs in fifty games, eight forty six ops. So, by
the way, when he hits, he hits for power fifty
games at each so it's even split right now. Yeah?

Speaker 2 (02:06:00):
Yah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:06:00):
Eleven home runs at home, five on the road, five
to eighty nine ozh ps on the road, eight fifty
six at Corsfield are what are the demand Yankee Stadium,
it's easier to hit one box. So he's a lefty,
so yeah, you can poke one right. Yeah, I mean

(02:06:22):
the Yankee Stadium is a piece of kicked at a
home run because to the alleys, that'd be about it, right.

Speaker 4 (02:06:28):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (02:06:29):
If I'm a Yankee fan today, I'm pretty happy. And
if I'm the Colorado Rockies, I'm like, yeah, let's move
these guys out. I got two twenty five top twenty
five prospects from the Yankees organization, who's got a reputation
of having a good minor link system, and I think
he's under team ConTroll for this year and next, which
something we talked about that would be very key for

(02:06:49):
the Astros to do.

Speaker 4 (02:06:50):
Is to get somebody with team control.

Speaker 1 (02:06:52):
All right, we will talk more about this with Brian
mctagger coming up in about ten minutes from now here. Oh,
I lied, he's well, he's on a contract until this
until twenty twenty seven, sixteen million a year next. That's
I mean, honestly, that's nothing for the Yankees. Yeah, Yankees. Yeah,
do you think they's toilet paper? Now, if we were
doing Yankee talk, we would know this answer. But my

(02:07:14):
guess is when they hit aprons, they don't necessarily we
got we got about it right, They're not no thresholds,
tax thresholds. I don't think they have they been more
responsible for fiscally since George passed a decade plus. Yeah,
and then they have to. I mean they have. I
think before the Judge deal, because they knew it was coming,
they kind of shed some payroll. I can't remember exactly,
but they know. Yeah, they they spend a lot of money,

(02:07:38):
but they don't try to. They don't do it like
George used to do, or just go get a player
just to just to outspend people. Yeah, they didn't have
luxury tax back in the day and they tried to
get one. So don't couldn't get them. That's true, they
swung and missed. Yeah, so again, probably not a household
name for people, but third basement left handed power at
least in Denver sixteen home run. Hey, he gets to

(02:08:00):
go to Pesky's poem play. That'll be a good spot
for him. Yeah, that thing is like two twenty five
to right field. So yeah, so two teams are in
man and we'll never really know the answer to this,
but that feels like to me a guy that would
really would have fit well here. But remember we just

(02:08:23):
because you have prospects doesn't mean the other teams value
them as much as you do. And when you have
the twenty eighth or twenty ninth or thirtieth ranked minor
league system, your number five prospect may only be a
top fourteen prospect with another organization. I'm a little surprised.
It's not like these have been blockbuster deals. I'm a

(02:08:43):
little surprised to seeing. I mean, Naylor was a pretty
big deal. This big Man deal is not insignificant. And
we are five more days away from the from the deadline,
I'm curious who else wants you, Hineo Suarez besides the Astros,
I mean, any power team would want to a Batlan
and the Yankees were thought of as a suitor. They
needed third base help. I did to just take them

(02:09:04):
off the list, perhaps can you play the words it so? No,
they're not gonna do that, um went, and doubt you
can dh anybody that's true, you know what I mean?
But I think gihen Carlo Stanton's got that locked up
for them, right. Yeah, you could never can tell. Is
Gian Carlo healthy today? We don't know, but I think so. Yeah.
We're gonna pronounce his name Carlo or Jean Carlo, Jean

(02:09:24):
Carlo Stanton. It was Mike early in his career. So
the trade deadline is the thirty first, which is a
week ago yesterday in the evening time, right because I
think Major League Baseball likes to build it up on
their TV network to say, all right, we're standing by
watch just like the NBA does. The NBA puts their

(02:09:45):
trade deadline show on ESPN and they they literally counted
down to.

Speaker 4 (02:09:50):
The very last second.

Speaker 2 (02:09:52):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 1 (02:09:56):
Rossie, I have still a betting man on this.

Speaker 4 (02:09:58):
I would still say very.

Speaker 1 (02:09:59):
Much much a.

Speaker 4 (02:10:02):
Fringe, not going to wile the socks off of people trade.

Speaker 1 (02:10:07):
I think a reliever happens next most likely is a
bat least likely as a starting pitcher. Can't rule them
all out, but that's what I think, and I would
do this. As I talk, you'll hear this from Brian
mctagger I might consider using an active body, especially if
I've got guys in the farm that I don't want

(02:10:27):
to move, which we know Dana doesn't normally want to.
All right, let's hear from Brian McTaggart next one to
twelve on The Matt Thomas Show with Ross seven to
one three two one two five seven Nintie seven one
three two one two five seven Nintie. We talked to
Brian McTaggart earlier today and if you missed that conversation,
here is some of the highlights of it and featuring
what he saw last night. Well maybe you saw last

(02:10:49):
night and off night for the Astros against the A's.

Speaker 2 (02:10:52):
Yeah, I think you hit the nail on the head
just just one of those nights. I mean, you know
you're not gonna win every game, and uh, you know,
several pitched really well against underman lineup. That's you know,
you know, they've had to kind of scratch and claw
for every one of their wins on the road trip,
and they just weren't able to do it. Yesterday they
still had to tie and run at the plate in
eighth inning. But uh yeah, I mean they you know,

(02:11:15):
try to catch lightning in a bottle again with Jason
Alexander and.

Speaker 4 (02:11:18):
It didn't work. So I mean, it's just where they are.

Speaker 2 (02:11:20):
I mean when you were, when you're relying on on
some guys who you know probably wouldn't be here because
of injuries, it's just not going to work out some night.
So it's just yeah, but you know, you got to
come back and if you're the app store is try
to get these next three and at least got a
split in this series. But yeah, you could try to
win the series. Now, that's probably the goal.

Speaker 1 (02:11:39):
I'll be honest with you, is I was following the
game on television and radio and then watching your tweets.
I was more frankly intrigued to what was happening in
the minor leagues, how about you.

Speaker 4 (02:11:47):
I mean, we've got some.

Speaker 1 (02:11:48):
Guys that are double A, triple A and and again
my philosophy has been on this show since all these
injuries is when they wear the word astros or Houston
in the uniform, I will really really care. But at
least we saw awesome, tangible minor league competition for some
guys that were hurt for quite some time.

Speaker 4 (02:12:06):
Yeah, I'm right with you.

Speaker 2 (02:12:07):
About the third inning, I called up the sugar Land
box score and was sort of falling along and seeing
what was going on with Christian Javier making a rehab
start yesterday and through forty nine pitches in two and
two thirds inning. So that's a pretty good amount through
a lot of strikes, through thirty strikes, give up one
run on a sack fly was touched ninety five with

(02:12:27):
the fastball, so I think he averaged like ninety three
something with the fastball, so that the velo was there,
only had three swings and misses from twenty twenty swings,
so you know, it didn't miss a lot of bats,
but still looked like a good amount of volume.

Speaker 4 (02:12:42):
It looked like he was, you know, getting closer to returning.

Speaker 2 (02:12:46):
And then Jacob Melton also played in that game and
absolutely crushed two balls, one of them hit off the
wall for a double that was over one hundred and
eleven miles an hour, So you know, he's still a rookie.
But I think he's a guy who can come up
here and help you a little bit. So, and then
over the weekend. Now we got Spencer Araghetti pitching tonight
at Corpus Christi. You have Luis Garstia tomorrow and Corpus

(02:13:07):
Christi and JP Franz tomorrow Corpus Christi. So hey, look,
I mean these guys are on rehabs at the upper
minor leagues. Within a week or two we're going to
start seeing some guys activated. And then the help was
on its way.

Speaker 1 (02:13:21):
So look, Jason Alexander knows he's probably headed back to
Triple A.

Speaker 4 (02:13:26):
That's an easy one.

Speaker 1 (02:13:28):
Give me where you think there is not necessarily a
huge debate, but a little uneasiness with some guys that
are in the rotation right now that might lose their spots.

Speaker 2 (02:13:40):
Yeah, well you have a couple of sure things, of course,
in Fromber and Hunter Brown. I was looking yesterday and
those two guys or dasslers are twenty nine and eleven
when those guys start, and when anybody else starts, they're
thirty one and thirty two, so they're under five hundred,
and they've also thrown I think forty three percent of
the innings by starters this year, so they've carried the
biggest part of the workload. I think Brandon Walter has

(02:14:01):
put himself in good position. I mean, he's just he's
stacked good starts. He's had a couple of ones here
and there that aren't so good. But you know, he's
a guy that's you know, he's a lefties deceptive. He's
got that cutter that he spots really well. So I
think he's put himself in a good spot. You know,
Colton Gordon has has done a nice job as well.

Speaker 4 (02:14:21):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (02:14:21):
You know, Ryan Gusta, who pitches tonight, is a guy
who can go to the bullpen.

Speaker 4 (02:14:25):
Who've seen that in the past.

Speaker 2 (02:14:26):
So I would suspect if they get a reliever or
two back here, you know, we could see Gusta go
back to the bullpen and sort of be that swing
man guy. But you know, if they get if they
get like three or four starters back, it's just gonna
come down to who's pitching better. I mean, if Walter
is out pitching somebody else, then you know he's gonna pitch.

Speaker 4 (02:14:43):
And but this is uh, this is this is good
news for.

Speaker 2 (02:14:47):
The Astros that you know all these guys, they seem
so far away when they got sent to Florida and
they're you know, they're throwing bullpens and live bps. But
now they're now they're double A, triple A in rehab games.
You you just start to feel they're just around the corner,
and it's got to be pretty exciting, you, Fred Astros.

Speaker 1 (02:15:04):
The mcculor situation just seems extremely unpredictable. Feels like it's
easier to get rid of him if he just can't
turn any corner, easy to keep him if he does
turn the corner. But what if he continues to be
up and down and you have all these guys getting healthy.
Of course he's on the I oon now with the
blister issue, but I am extremely interested to see how
that unfolds.

Speaker 2 (02:15:26):
Yeah, with Ross, I think it's gonna be really interesting.
You know, if he's gonna come up and not get
deep into ballgames and they have other options, I mean,
they have to go with the other options. It's just
the way it is. I mean, it's you know, Lance
has done a lot of great things for this team,
and he's you know, he's got a big contract through
next year. But this is still a performance based business,
and they need pictures who are going to go deep

(02:15:48):
in the game. So yeah, the whole deal is a
weird deal because you know what he when he got
done with the start the other night in Seattle, he
didn't say anything about a blister. He just said he
you know, he's got a pitch better, and you could
tell he was frustrated, but there was no talk of
a blister. I didn't see him looking at a blister,
you know, at any point in that game. And and
then we find out, you know, he flies back to

(02:16:09):
Houston because he's got a blister, so he wasn't there yesterday.
He didn't get a chance to talk to him. So
kind of a weird deal. You know, not not sure
where you go with Lance or what you do at
this point, but I guess first of all, you got
to figure out what's going on with this blister, and
then you know, see see if you can run him
back out there and what he's got.

Speaker 1 (02:16:28):
Brian McTaggart with us here on Sports Talk seven ninety
Josh Naylor to the Mariners yesterday, So the arms race
has kicked off for the deadline. What'd you think about
what the Mariners gave up? For him and kind of
where that puts the Astros in their search for help.

Speaker 2 (02:16:47):
Yeah, I think this is sort of the one that's
going to get things going. I mean, this is the
big first big Domino to fall, great addition to their lineup.
I mean they had you know, Luke Rayley playing first,
who isn't very good frankly, So you know, Naylor's a
guy who doesn't strike out, who's got some power. He's
gonna fit in really well in that lineup. He's gonna
make the Mariners a lot better. I believe they give

(02:17:08):
up their their number thirteen and sixteen prospects, and their
prospect list is much deeper than the Astros. So those
are those are two guys that are probably if they
were in the Astros system, or probably top seven or
eight prospects. So they give up.

Speaker 4 (02:17:22):
Some good prospects.

Speaker 2 (02:17:23):
But I don't think anything that at the end of
the day, you know they're gonna be kicking themselves down
the road. Who knows, But I mean I think all
in all, was a good trade for them, and now
there's still very much after you he Eo Swarez. We
saw him over the weekend in Arizona. He played with
Seattle before. They would love to get him back if
and they have the prospects to do it. I think

(02:17:44):
they had nine of the top one hundred prospects on
MLB dot COM's pipeline list.

Speaker 4 (02:17:49):
The Astros had one, which is Bryce Matthews.

Speaker 2 (02:17:51):
So they're the mirrors are much better positioned to you know,
make the other impact deal that. That's not to say
the Astros can't, and I think they will make some deals.
They definitely need a bat, a left handed bat. They
are interested in Suarez, uh, just with it looks like
Parrettis is gonna be out a while. So whoever whoever
swore as wherever he goes, he's gonna make that team

(02:18:12):
a lot better. He's this is a guy who could
hit fifty home runs, so it's gonna be really interested that.
Astros also need a right handed reliever they could put
in the that that that high leverage pocket with uh,
Brian King and and Bennett's a guy, like, you know,
just a right hander they could mix in there. If
they have a you know, a pocket of right handed hitters.

(02:18:32):
I wonder if they're if they're gonna push hard for
starting pitching at this point, just with like we said earlier,
they got guys coming back that you feel pretty good about,
and maybe you know you shipped your focus now to
getting a bat and a reliever. But definitely gonna be
a very very interesting uh next week. But Astros will
make a trade or two and this team could look

(02:18:52):
a lot different in Boston next week.

Speaker 1 (02:18:54):
Clearly, Suarez would be a huge addition, especially because if
Parretis is handy as as bad as it looked when
he limped off the field, it could be a while.
And we've spent time and you have and all the
writers and the people that follow this team begrudging the
minor league system and how that Danis had to go
to that system so many times when he was trying

(02:19:15):
to stockpile. So let's let's put the cards on the table.
What could the Astros possibly offer that other teams wouldn't offer,
they would offer less that would make the Astros a
spot that Arizona would like to talk to.

Speaker 2 (02:19:30):
Well, I mean, they have some intriguing arms in the
in the minor leagues. Migueli Uola is you know one
of their best strikeout minor league pitchers. I mean, there
are a lot of teams would love to you know,
slot him in the Triple A lineup and think maybe
he could help him down down the road. Aj blue
Ball is a guy who's who's got some value. They

(02:19:51):
have some up and coming outfielders like Joseph Sullivan, who's
a Pat Sullivan, the former Heisman Trophy winner, that's his grandson.
I mean, look, they they got players in the minor leagues.
Do they have is the top end players of a
lot of teams. No, But if they're going to trade
for Suarez and you're gonna send two three prospects, they
have enough to get it done.

Speaker 4 (02:20:11):
It will be a little more challenging.

Speaker 2 (02:20:12):
You're right, because other teams have probably better prospects to offer.

Speaker 4 (02:20:16):
But they're also.

Speaker 2 (02:20:18):
You know, a they're gonna be willing to part with
some of these prospects as well. So it's tricky. It's
it's it's a delicate time of year. It's it's a
chess match here for the next six days. But you know,
you know, look at all the like I said before,
look at all the prospects the Abstos have dealt year
after year, and none of those guys really have come
back to bite them. You know, maybe Taioscar Hernandez when

(02:20:41):
they traded him to Toronto for Aoki. That's that's one
you want back. But the four guys they sent to Verlander,
you know, you know so far, the three guys they
sent to Toronto or their low berfeedo homeward last night,
and it's still early for those guys. But you know,
Jim Crane's very much of the philosophy, Hey, we're here
to win. Now, prospers, you know, deal them. Let's get

(02:21:01):
players that can help us win, and they're gonna get
some players.

Speaker 4 (02:21:04):
All right. That again is Brian McTaggart.

Speaker 1 (02:21:06):
Every week. We usually with us on Thursdays, but was
with us today. In fact, he will give us a
further update on the Astros when he joins Ross on
the On Deck show coming up later on tonight at
six o'clock. Up next, Non Florida Stories and Eric is
one hour and forty seven minute wait will come to
an end.

Speaker 4 (02:21:22):
We will take his phone call next.

Speaker 1 (02:21:25):
All right, back on the phones we go. We've got
Non Florida Stories as well. And believe it or not,
it's all things helly or not, it's all things Chuck Mangoni.
Because nothing really eventful happened in the last twenty four hours.
We'll go to Eric in Bay City. But first Steven
Huffman on The Matt Thomas Show with Ross Steve, Good afternoon, Oh.

Speaker 20 (02:21:43):
Man, you and I've always said blacktourds, But you know what,
I have nothing to disagree with you about here. It's
been working beautifully. But obviously we've been playing on on
a hope and a prayer, you know, getting getting where
we've got. Now, let me ask you, you like to
go to Vegas and lay money down if we can
get Swarez and if Alvarez and Penya come back and

(02:22:05):
we can pencil them in the rest of the way,
what's your what you're touching us locking this whole baby up.

Speaker 1 (02:22:11):
I would put a significant amount of money Steve on
the Astros winning the American League pennant.

Speaker 4 (02:22:18):
Yeah, yeah, I did too.

Speaker 6 (02:22:20):
But Jim, whatever, you.

Speaker 4 (02:22:21):
Got to do it, I know.

Speaker 1 (02:22:23):
But the problem is you got to get your dam back,
and there's no signs of that being right around the corner.

Speaker 4 (02:22:28):
And you also have to go get.

Speaker 1 (02:22:30):
The best slugging third basement in Major League Baseball right now.
And I don't know what the Astros have to offer that. Unfortunately,
seven one, three two one two five seven ninety seven
one three two one two five seven eighty. We will
go to Eric and baseity. But first we said, how
an aggie dog on the Matt Thomas Show, Ross eighty.
What's a good word?

Speaker 16 (02:22:49):
How do you guys?

Speaker 14 (02:22:50):
Are we all today?

Speaker 1 (02:22:51):
Amazing?

Speaker 4 (02:22:52):
Thanks for asking?

Speaker 14 (02:22:53):
Yeah, I'm they got it Friday.

Speaker 4 (02:22:55):
Right, Yes, and it goes Friday.

Speaker 1 (02:22:58):
Hey man, I was just.

Speaker 14 (02:23:00):
Calling the so let's talk about all four sports teams
in town.

Speaker 1 (02:23:03):
Yeah?

Speaker 14 (02:23:04):
Sure, So let's just kick it off with the Astros.
I'm not super worried, but I was just really interested
with this whole Ryan Attaggart thing. Uh Like, he definitely
thinks we're making a move and maybe maybe a couple so,
but he didn't really say who he can move. So
it's like, are we gonna give up somebody active? I
mean I was just kind of perplex on that.

Speaker 4 (02:23:24):
What are youse?

Speaker 1 (02:23:26):
Uh well, McTaggart said, nobody active. I still think you
could probably give up a left handed reliever if you're
going to go get a right handed reliever. I mean
it makes sense. I think you can do a package deal.
I I know the Astros have a couple of Juliola
is a guy they love. They obviously love Yanich, They're Catcher.

(02:23:47):
There's others some guys at the single A level that
have been highly regarded to and that's what Brian brought
up a minute ago. I just don't know. They don't
have enough bullets in the in the gun to really
pull off a deal to get Sore unless they are
really ready to mortgage off a lot of their future.
And I don't know how much future that's got left,
and even if it's enough to satisfy Arizona well, I mean.

Speaker 14 (02:24:09):
If I'm any GM and the Astros call, I'm like, okay,
Bright's Matthews is probably my jumping off point. I mean,
that's the first guy I asked for, and then possibly
more if you want somebody that's going to be on.

Speaker 4 (02:24:22):
The active roster at this point.

Speaker 14 (02:24:25):
But I mean, I just don't see the Astros. I'm
more in your camp, Matt. I don't see us having
the bullets and the gun to get the people that
we want or the people that can actually contribute, considering
that we possibly have some of these players coming back.
So it's like, dude, I mean, I get it. Jim
Baden was like, yeah, if you get more pitching, all
the pitching you can get. I completely agree with that,

(02:24:46):
but it's like we've got to have a glut of pitching
that's coming back. If not this year, it's definitely happened
next year.

Speaker 1 (02:24:52):
And by the way, oh by the way, you're being
moving and you're moving on from Farm Ravaldez. You've got
at least one spot in the rotation open. You don't
know about Lance mccullor's long term future as an astro
and what has he done, what has he done to
solidify a spot in twenty twenty six. I mean and
ad thanks to the phone call. I appreciate it. I
I want them to do something. I think I think

(02:25:14):
Dana does want to do something. But I want to
say this again, Rossie, I can't kill him if he can't,
because the stars, the injury stars, at least pitching wise,
are starting to align a little bit. And if Painting
comes back soon and at some point Jardan comes back,
then you've got a pretty nice little roster put together.

(02:25:37):
But there's a lot of IFFs, a lot of ifs,
and is in there a part of you that still
thinks that man the astro has been so lucky giving
up all these players for all these years and hasn't
been him in the ass, but maybe once in fifteen years. No,
you don't worry about that, Matt.

Speaker 4 (02:25:52):
I guess you don't. But all right, here we go,
Eric and Bay City.

Speaker 2 (02:26:00):
Hello, it's about time.

Speaker 17 (02:26:02):
I've only held for two hours and forty one minutes.
But I was going to listen to the show anyways,
and I have a speakerphone capability on my flip phone,
so it was fine. Anyways, I'm sitting here seeping quickly
into the creepy sewers of perversion, watching Lauren Sahati rock
this Detroit Tigers jersey on MLB Network, and I gotta say,
I'm quickly becoming a Tiger fan.

Speaker 1 (02:26:24):
And what I'd like.

Speaker 17 (02:26:25):
To say to Ross today is talking about Hulkagan being
dropped on his head a thousand times. He makes up
one make a wish story. He did over two hundred
make of wishes in his career. There's a lot of
athletes and celebrities of his caliber that never do one.
Those two hundred plus are documented.

Speaker 1 (02:26:43):
Get it off him, Okay, well he did that. He
also lied. He also lied about the beacon the Metallica.

Speaker 17 (02:26:51):
I know, but again he was dropped on his head
thousands of times.

Speaker 1 (02:26:53):
Okay, No, he's just a serial liar. Yeah he's okay,
well pathological.

Speaker 17 (02:27:00):
But I mean he did over two hundred make wishes
in his career. That's that says a lot.

Speaker 1 (02:27:04):
Okay, So he imagined that Elvis Presley was a big
fan of his as well.

Speaker 17 (02:27:08):
I understand.

Speaker 1 (02:27:09):
I hear you on all that. Can I try to
give you. It also made him drop a bunch of
in bombs and talking about how he didn't want his daughter.
That's not accepting, Okay, I'm just wondering. I hear you
on that.

Speaker 17 (02:27:20):
But he didn't apologize with tears on like sixty.

Speaker 1 (02:27:22):
Minutes, one of those tearful apology on sixty minutes. That
makes it all okay for a guy.

Speaker 17 (02:27:29):
That didn't need the money, he didn't have to do it,
is all I'm saying.

Speaker 16 (02:27:31):
I sincerely believe he was sorry for it.

Speaker 1 (02:27:34):
Yeah, well, he was an egomaniac and he wanted to
be back in the good public graces. As with my take,
but yeah, you're.

Speaker 17 (02:27:40):
You're possibly right about that too, ross won't.

Speaker 1 (02:27:42):
I won't say you aren't.

Speaker 17 (02:27:43):
But on the last deal, to try to give you
a better analogy, than Matt did about Rick Flair and
Hulkogan and what Rick Blair was saying. It's kind of
like if Baseball was scripted, you'd have to say, the
Dodgers Astros twenty seventeen World Series was a lot better
matchup than the Dodgers Yankees last year. And the Dodgers
Yankees is like Flaiir Hogan. The Dodgers Astros was like

(02:28:04):
Flair Steamboat. It was a great matchup, much better matchup,
much more entertaining to watch the n ring or on
diamond activity to put it from one to the other.
The last thing, if you don't mind, I would like
to say, is I almost threw up yesterday when y'all
listened your rotation for the rest of the year, and
you two agreed that Spencer Aarraghetty is your number three guy,

(02:28:24):
and let me detail why, and I'll be very quick
with it, much quicker than I held for anyways. When
you look at Christian Javier, Luis Garcia, Lance mccullors, Brandon Walters,
Colton Gordon, and JP France and compare them with Spencer Aarraghetty,
all of them have a much higher quality start ratio
than Spencer Araghtty Spencer Araghetty has ten quality starts in

(02:28:47):
thirty games started. That's thirty three percent, the only one.

Speaker 1 (02:28:51):
He's even How those how many of those have come
in as the last twenty Well, I.

Speaker 17 (02:28:56):
Mean he's only had two this year. So to quote you,
it's like he hadn't pitched in two years.

Speaker 1 (02:29:00):
So I mean, no, it's not like he hadn't pitched
in two years. Now, Okay, Javier is coming off that's
the problem. Javier is coming off of elbow injuries, and
those other guys are coming off of elbow injuries. So yes,
if he if they all pitch and one's pitching better
than the other, then we'll go from there. Yes, exactly
what is what is more detrimental to a pitcher of
fractured thumb or our major elbow surgery?

Speaker 17 (02:29:21):
I hear you, But Christian Javier's had plenty can long enough?

Speaker 2 (02:29:26):
Right?

Speaker 1 (02:29:26):
Is this not long enough?

Speaker 4 (02:29:26):
It's fine, Okay, he's not on Florida Stories, thank you.

Speaker 1 (02:29:31):
It doesn't yet. Okay, you gotta hit the song stories
that sure outside in the.

Speaker 8 (02:29:36):
State of Florida and share them with the people abused.

Speaker 1 (02:29:45):
Start for Florida. I'll stand for Florida. Still from coast
to coast, grade strange and wild.

Speaker 8 (02:30:10):
No alligator exhales, but something that will make you smile.

Speaker 1 (02:30:18):
It's time for last from far and in this tracy world,
there's nowhere all right Ross. You were thinking about what
you want to do for your vacation next month, Well,
if you're going to Boise, Idaho, I'm not. Uh, be

(02:30:39):
careful and watch your back. Cops in Boise, Idaho says
there's a serial butt slapper on the loose. He's been
going around on a dirt bike, smacking or grabbing women's
butts as he drives by and rides by. Several women
have fouled reports of the last month. All the butt
slaps have occurred between June eighteenth and July the third

(02:31:01):
describe him as a white man in dark clothing, often
all black. He also wears gloves and a ski mask.
Cops think it's either a skull mask from Call of
Duty or a ven what veneran ven orn mask from
Spider Man? Is that right? Venom? Venom? Okay, I've been
reading it wrong. Venom mask from Spider Man. A security
camera got a shot at him, but his face is
covered and it's too blurred. To see much. They're hoping

(02:31:23):
someone recognizes him and calls it in. So if you're
spending any time in around Boise this summer, maybe tie
a sweater around your waist. And that is my non
Florida story. Uh okay, I'll avoid the cereal butt slapper
is a slap in the grab the same thing. How's

(02:31:44):
Eric getting not the three? Eric's pissing me off? Anyways, Anyways,
my non floor story. Yeah, okay, sorry, and uh so
one of the monuments.

Speaker 2 (02:31:55):
Oh my god.

Speaker 11 (02:31:55):
The Spanish deps have never been intended for motor vehicles
until an eighty year old man drove a com packed
luxury of Mercedes Bens a class of Dan down this
landmark early in Rome. Sorry, I forgot what this is
going before getting stuck part way down. Police had to
come and fire department had to get a crane to
get his car out. Even locals was saying that they
have not don't even know if the car was his.

(02:32:17):
He was completely sober, not on drugs, and they don't
know where he came from.

Speaker 1 (02:32:21):
What happened to the car?

Speaker 4 (02:32:22):
Again, he drove it down to the Spanish steps in Rome.

Speaker 1 (02:32:28):
Wow, that's gotta be a bumpy ride, right, it's got
to be. It's gotta be a felony. Hope his shocks
are okay. I don't know if you get shocks in
that thing, Maddie.

Speaker 4 (02:32:39):
All right, thank you very much for the speed round
of Fars Stories. What do you got?

Speaker 1 (02:32:43):
Do you have anything? Yes, Matt, As you know, Matt,
the twenty twenty five Tour de France is still going on.
It is, yes, you knew that.

Speaker 4 (02:32:54):
No, I didn't even know.

Speaker 6 (02:32:56):
Well.

Speaker 1 (02:32:56):
Unfortunately, the Stage nineteen route had to be and changed
because local farmers are dealing with an outbreak of a
contagious nodular dermatitis affecting cattle in a herd, specifically where
they were going to be going through. In light of
the distress experienced by the farmers, they have to change

(02:33:19):
the course of the Tour de France because cattle are
catching a rare skin disease. How that affect the riders though,
they don't want to be having a bunch of people
coming through there. Apparently it's highly contagious among cattle, but
I don't know that it's contagious France. I think there's

(02:33:40):
six this year. It's a record.

Speaker 4 (02:33:42):
Yeah, I believe the number one leader is Effie.

Speaker 1 (02:33:44):
I think Moor is number one? Is that right? Okay?
Of the three stories I just said, I like mine
the best. That's fine. I've been writing check MANGIONI. I
just pulled this fighting with Eric and Bay City. I'm
not fighting with them. I mean, look, who are you
putting ahead of him? You're not putting Garcia ahead. No,
Javier makes sense. But Javier's got it. He's been gone

(02:34:05):
for a year plus and as I said, an elbow
injury and it's July. You're not setting your rotation right now.
So why you upset about this? And the sage words
I had for yesterday was it takes a probably a
half a year just to get back to what you
were doing. Once you get back on the mountain, play well,
we'll see if he gives your rehabit and you're out

(02:34:26):
there and you've got to be effective, and then we'll
see what happens if anybody has setbacks or how things
are going come September and October, when the Astros are
getting ready for the playoffs with seventeen guys on the
il and Joe a spot among the favorites for Manager
of the Year, who eric in Baskin he wants fired.

Speaker 4 (02:34:43):
Mmm mm.

Speaker 1 (02:34:47):
By the way, Eric our Callas did not like that,
you were depending look that if we can get into
that some other time. But oh he made up one
lie about being with a makeup wish kid. That's about
his bad That is a git. You're lying about some
some make a Wish kid dying and he wrote a
song about it. I didn't even put that. I took
it easy on the oh coget quite frankly, he wrote

(02:35:10):
a song about a make a Wish kid that he
didn't even see talking about wrestling at Wimbley for him
and he wasn't there and yield till years later. Man
Ok had a difficult time telling the truth. He would
not be a good category contesting on Monday at eleven thirty,
pathological liar to me, But I'm sorry, you know what.
I apologize early, I got apologize again. May he rest?

Speaker 4 (02:35:30):
You don't even believe that?

Speaker 1 (02:35:31):
All right? One forty that's a different story. One seven
on Sports Talk seven on five Minutes Up to Go
on the show what should we Do? We should play
America's fastest growing sports radio game show Monday few Thursday.
We called it be leaving out.

Speaker 4 (02:35:52):
But on Friday's we call it a hell Yeah now
and here's how it works.

Speaker 1 (02:35:55):
You call seven one three two one two five seven
on seven one three two one two five seven on
today's edition of Hellyeron, it's about all things about Chuck Mangioni.

Speaker 4 (02:36:04):
