Speaker 1 (00:02):
Lunchtimers. This is the Matt Thomas.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Show ten oh one at Age Town. Good morning, everyone,
and welcome to a Wednesday edition of The Matt Thomas
Show with Ross. This is Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Wagner gets to strike out, That's why he just kept
pumping fastball after fastball after time a mile to meet
him of one hundred mile an hour heater out over
the outside corner.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
Bagwell to Wagner and.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
The unknown hitter for the Astros with six different pitchers combining.

Speaker 4 (00:44):
Their first ever win.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
In Yankee Stadium when their starter, Roy Oldswall but't make
it one hitter into the second inning left with an injury.

Speaker 4 (00:59):
Oh yeah, O dam, I'll have to throw down the.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
First two up and two down, airing it out tonight.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
One stripe from four hundred stages thirty its.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Man, did he do it in style?

Speaker 5 (01:25):
And it's crazy that Billy Wagner left with something left
in the tank. Normally, guys alike, I can barely throw
seventy six mile an hour puss. He left with his
left arm still a blazon the Billy the Kid into
the Baseball Hall of Fame. Good morning, It is the
Matt Thomas Showood Ross here on sports talks, haven't he

(01:46):
It's not a topic gay, but it's certainly a congratulatory topic.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Yes, Houston Astro's legend.

Speaker 5 (01:52):
Billy Wagner last year of eligibility, I think eighth player
they said to ever make it in in their last
year of eligibility on the ball.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Ironically enough, his stats have not changed the previous nine times.

Speaker 5 (02:03):
He went from nineteen percent all the way to whatever
it was and got in, So good for him. Is
It's crazy how that works. And I wonder if you
and I had a vote for the Hall of Fame,
would we tend to say, Yeah, this guy is somebody
I'm thinking about, but he needs to wait five years.
And it's sometimes luck because you can only vote for
what is it, ten guys or something like that, So

(02:23):
some guys get squeezed off the ballot because other people
maybe are more deserving or whatever. So eighty two and
a half percent, of course, you have to get over
seventy five percent, so and it has been close the
last couple of years. It is interesting that one of
the biggest douchebags in Baseball Writers Hall of Fame would

(02:44):
be John Hayman put Tory Hunter in the Hall of
Fame with his vote, but did not select Billy Wagon Interesting.
I would also say for Billy Wagner he was helped
by I mean, in the old days we talked about closers,
and we talked about save totals, and his save totals
aren't his highest, say Trevor Hoffman or Mariana Rivera, but
numbers that have come in vogue, like Era plus whip

(03:07):
those things. He has great numbers for those, right, and
I think that's also helped his case the last couple
of years. You can, obviously, if you're a very good pitcher,
you can find numbers that will skew you towards the
this is a camp miss and you can find people
that are detractors and say, well, he didn't do this
and didn't do that. For me, he was one of
my all time favorite players, not only as a player,
but as a young man in the media. I had

(03:28):
no relationship with him, but just wanted to go in
the clubhouse once in a while and get some postgame
audio here and there.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
He was the king of when we.

Speaker 5 (03:36):
Kicked ass, we being the Astros, we're gonna tell you
how good we are, and if we sucked and I
gave up a three run bomb in the ninth inning
and lost the game. I'm gonna tell you how I sucked,
and I'm not gonna make excuse to the I'm not
gonna avoid not talking to the media. I'm not gonna
go hide in the shower, in the in the meal room.
I'm gonna talk to you guys and get it over with.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
Yeah. So the opposite of Ken Giles is what you're saying.

Speaker 5 (03:54):
And I'm also the guy that's gonna say that when
I think Drake McClain is penny pinching and not trying
to win baseball games, I'm gonna say that, and I'm
gonna get.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
My ass traded shortly after that.

Speaker 5 (04:03):
His last year in the Major leagues seventy one games,
he had a war of two point five. Ryan Presley
in his career has not had a war of two
point five in a season in his career. Yeah, he
I think you're retired. What a thirty eight I think
is what he was. Thirty eight one point four to
three ERA in seventy one games. Yeah, thirty seven save.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (04:21):
He did have some injury issues throughout his career, which
I think was one of the things that detracted him
from wreaking up totals five hundred saves or something like that.
Another thing is it's awfully hard for closers to get in.
There have not been a lot of them. What has
it been, Mariano, there has been uh, Trevor Hoffer goose
believe it's been like it's been under ten guys.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
I think it's not a real big list. So you
heavily was kind of both right, same thing with Johnson Moltz.

Speaker 5 (04:47):
Yeah, so you have to really be you have to
do the old closing eye, close your eye, seeing eyed,
a non seeing eye, list of exactly who you want
out there. And I'll say this and maybe the it's
just some bias for me. I need three outs from
a left handed reliever in the ninth inning of a game.
Who's gonna throw one on one, one o two, and

(05:08):
not think twice about it's gonna be Billy Wagner, Josh Hater. Well,
I mean Josh might get there. He's going he's gonna
give up a couple solo bombs. He'll get you out
of there. Oh say God, you're.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
Saying them two run leaders that you're saying that's terrible
you're such a hater of a hater hater, you're a
h A T E r A. You're defending the guy
you've actually spent a lot of time defending. So yeah,
And I don't know if if if I'm a fan of,
say the Giants or the Reds, I'm thinking about, you know,

(05:38):
Billy Wagner's on my close my eyes, that's my closer guy.

Speaker 5 (05:40):
But we saw him for a lot of his career.
Now he went on to the places and went to
I didn't realize how well traveled he was, Atlanta, the Mets.
I remember him as a Philly and as I did
not remember him at all as a Red Sox, and
I don't doesn't really sock right in the thing. I
think you still say Red Sox. Hum, that is weird

(06:03):
how you do it? I know it's an X. Yeah,
I'm gonna go thunder, you go Red Stocking like a
thunderbolt Oklahoma City thunder.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (06:11):
He moved around a bunch towards the end of his career,
but again he did okay from stuff.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
He didn't embarrass himself anywhere. I don't think everyone.

Speaker 5 (06:19):
I mean, I spent a lot of time looking in
the hotels we had nothing to do last night because
we were kind of iced in. But I kept trying
to find lots of astro highlights of Billy over the years,
and it was harder because frankly, twenty years ago, they
weren't YouTube wasn't putting ever highlight of every player on there.
But I could find plenty of highlights of him being
as a brave, as a met, as a Philly didn't
find it as a Red Sox. But yeah, he carved

(06:40):
out a very successful career and again he probably could
have pitched ross at least one or two more years. Yeah,
and maybe amped up my gas is well. And if
we ever get talked to Billy while asking about this,
would he have, knowing what he knows now that took
him a full ten to get into the into the
Hall of Fame? Would he have tried to go a
couple more years or did he just know? His arm
was like, you know what, I'm gonna leave on top,

(07:01):
and I don't want to. I don't want to ruin
my cause, my case for a Hall of Fame by
having a blow to dry the last two one or
two years of my major league career. Yeah I want, Yeah,
I'll be curious, but he made it in. So all's well.
That ends well. On the tenth time. Yet his stats
never changed, No, they did not. And yeah, he went
from he started ten percent, yeah, ten point five percent

(07:25):
in twenty sixteen eighty two and a half percent twenty
twenty five. So good for him, Good for him. Nice
to have all of you with us today on the show.
I hope you are getting back to normalcy a little
bit again. We would still strongly suggest, and I don't
think many people are agreeing with us, do not go
on the roads. It's still not above freezing, at least
the last time I checked, it's not, which means the

(07:47):
sludge that was the ice of the snow of yesterday's
now ice and walking around a hotel parking lot this morning,
we could have played a little game.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
Of hockey if you wanted. It was icy, it was.

Speaker 5 (07:58):
And you know, you're carrying luggage and you had a
cup of cough in your hand. I mean I was
taking the uber small steps, Yeah you were. I felt
like I was walking like I was eighty five years old.
I was a little worried about you. You shouldn't have been.
It was fine, You're doing great, but I got us
here two days in a row in the drive and
so Grandam was also four tenths of a mile.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
So we're very happy.

Speaker 5 (08:15):
Yes, but yeah, the at least some of the streets,
at least where we are by our offices, have been
completely cleared. So there are gonna be some spots in
the city. You're gonna be fine, but I would think
probably in the suburbs it could be a little more
of a dicey situation. So if your kids are not
going to school day, which I only anybody's in school,
just relax, spend some time with the family.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Take the Christmas tree. It was fun.

Speaker 5 (08:33):
Take your Christmas tree down. Why you're still saying Happy
New Year? I means I can still have my Christmas tree. Oh,
I forgot about that. I want to wish all of
you happy New Year.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
Take ten. It's too much.

Speaker 5 (08:43):
Why I told you I would have a natural feeling
of when it's too late. We are past that threshold.
I think about this, I think about the fourteenth. I'm
going February fifteenth. You of all people should know the
statue to limitate knows I know it's a bit damn.
Oh that's Dand by the way, Hey, Dan's here. Hi, guys,
where's Connor?

Speaker 6 (09:00):
Connor?

Speaker 5 (09:00):
We got very busy. No, he's shacking up with his lady.
You went from very iron whoa, whoa. You don't know
if they're having if they're shacking up. You remember asking
that question, what do you mean?

Speaker 2 (09:11):
And what do you mean? What I mean? I remember
we've never said, hey, are you shacking up with the
girl yet?

Speaker 7 (09:14):
No?

Speaker 5 (09:14):
I mean maybe they're at the maybe they're having a
snow day, building a snowman.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
There's no, no, you can't be building. There's no more
snow left. There's some left. It will mush, it's gonna
it's mush.

Speaker 4 (09:23):
Now, you can't.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
You can't do that.

Speaker 5 (09:25):
Okay, So basically we've talked about Connor's shacking up with
this girl and not being here with us today.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
That's fine. Would you rather be here or shacking up
with a lady? Bye?

Speaker 5 (09:34):
Yeah, all right, Well went out the rails at eight
minutes into the show.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
That's fine, that's not a record. Why I'm here?

Speaker 5 (09:43):
No, it's not all right. We are busy today until
two o'clock. We will have at eleven thirty. Shut your
ball mass up at twelve, noom of the news at
noon at one o'clock will have em Adoka and believe.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
It or not, today at one fifty, Oh, you gonna
go Billy Wanger? Can we do a full Billy Winder?
Do you want to go with? We'll sprinkle a little
CC Sabbathia. It's hard. Have you seen he's portly? You
can't sprinkle cec all right? Not anymore? Is he thin? Now?

Speaker 5 (10:11):
Yeah, he's he's lost a tone. Maybe he got on
the moon Jarro he gave up the boot. I'm sorry
the Moonmorrow the moon Garo.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
Rather rhyme that one.

Speaker 5 (10:21):
That's an uneasy one. I appreciate the effort those mimpic.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
We we got it ross, Thanks buddy.

Speaker 5 (10:30):
Seven one three two one two five seven nine. If
you like the Joners today seven one three two one
two five seven nine zero.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
Uh So what did y'all do?

Speaker 4 (10:40):
List?

Speaker 2 (10:40):
Did we did? Y'all bond? Family time?

Speaker 5 (10:42):
I mean there wasn't a lot of sports on. There
was a couple of lousy NBA games. We had limited
channels where we were. Yeah, half our channels weren't working
at the hotel. Won't mention which hotel it was. That's fine.

Speaker 2 (10:53):
Couldn't watch your beloved Texas Longhorns beat Missouri last year.

Speaker 5 (10:56):
Let's go Yeah, Connor, that's why Connor's not here. He's
more I want to hear trash suck at Miszoo Tigers.
If there is a radio show that's blank talking Missouri
versus Texas basketball, our pipe should be off the air.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
That's what we're not going to go out here.

Speaker 5 (11:10):
We're gonna do a full podcast on it. Oh my god,
what is NAT's see hoops?

Speaker 2 (11:14):
Okay? Locked in?

Speaker 5 (11:15):
I Gordy on hoops seven one three? Where's Gordy? By
the way, I haven't seen him a couple of days.
He's working from home.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (11:21):
I believe our entire sales staff is also working from
homo sides. They're on calls, they're probably a meetings. They're
probably in pitch meetings for the Matt Thomas Show.

Speaker 4 (11:28):
Guy.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
I texta sales guy here every day and helping. He responds,
and he never does. I've sent one email to multiple
the one guy for multiple emails and he hasn't responded. Again.

Speaker 5 (11:39):
I say, I'm turning my microphone off. Some of them
double his Instagram influencers too, seven one three two one
two five seven doty seven one three two one two, five,
seven nine zero Big NBA game tonight, And I don't
use that term very often, but we got one here
in our market. We'll discuss that coming up in a
little but as well. Seven one three two one two

(12:02):
five seven.

Speaker 8 (12:02):
Ninety This is the Matt Thomas Show with ross On
four o'coe.

Speaker 5 (12:14):
Our producer Connor just texted me. He says, if you
had to let me stay in your hotel room in the
last couple of days, we would have been shacking up.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
That's true. He had to sleep at the foot of
the door after the sock would be on the door.

Speaker 5 (12:26):
Okay, first of all, I don't know why Connor didn't
say with me. I mean, I didn't say he couldn't.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
Did you offer? I didn't think I needed to, and
no one I didn't know what a situation was, probably
should have. I mean.

Speaker 5 (12:39):
So then it is very rude grumpy Dan. Would I've
been one of all those hours in yesterday, poor Dan.
He was running on fumes, so surly yesterday he was
running on empty. He was Jackson Brown would say, he
would Jackson Brown stop properly rated properly? Probably rated, yeah,
properly because two hit wonder three more than that. Basically

(13:01):
the Forrest Gumps soundtrack games.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
That's true, that's true.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (13:06):
Uh, and then anything movie like Fast Times, Richemont High
and Valley Girls.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
And he had songs and those movies too. It's he
had one of those songs in one of those movies. Whatever.

Speaker 5 (13:15):
All right, It is the Mad Tom Show with Ross
seven where we go through the Jackson Brown discography.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
Love it. Yeah, it's fine, that's great. I mean four hours.

Speaker 5 (13:25):
We can tell because it's because some Texans off season. Dude,
we have no you know what the Texans want from us?
They want us to give them a break. I don't
think they do.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
Do you think?

Speaker 5 (13:34):
Do you think they want to be talked about over
and over again every single day for hours on end.
Have you met these PR departments of these teams. Yeah,
but at some point you kind of want to say,
give it a rest, don't you. Maybe, So we're gonna
give the Texans a rest for a week. Okay, Texans
rest week. I mean I know that other you forget
Uh yeah, I just there's nothing proud of you.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
You stopped yourself. I just stopped myself because Demiko wants
a rest. Did he not say that anything?

Speaker 5 (13:58):
To take time to evaluate when when you figure out
the offensive coaching.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
Changes, then we'll get into a deep dive on that.
But we can move other things we do.

Speaker 5 (14:04):
As I mentioned before, but I think it's a very
intriguing basketball game coming up tonight. It is, and I
do believe there's a slight uptick in rocket vibe in
the community. It's not full board. It's not to playoff level,
and hopefully will be at some point. But the team
of the best record in the NBA at least is

(14:26):
at Eastern Conference wise, with the whole NBA, I can't
I know, hit them in Oklahoma City back and four.
I think it's the whole NBA for them. Okay, thirty
six and six. The Cleveland Cavaliers are in Okay, that's
the best record.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
In the NBA. A team of Cleveland, Ohio has up
the thirty six and six and Lebron James is not
on the team.

Speaker 8 (14:51):
No.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
Fifteen and four on the there are eleven games about
five hundred on the road. They've lost pretty good times
since it started.

Speaker 5 (14:59):
They open up the you are fifteen and oh I know,
and this is the battle of number two versus Number three.
Jalen Green and Evan Mobley. Evan Mobley's been playing great
for them. I believe Evan Mobley is not going to play.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
Oh he's not. He's hurt. No, Evan Mobley had uh
missed the last Yeah, he missed. He's got calf's soreness.
Oh is his calf gonna be all right? He's he's
already out.

Speaker 5 (15:20):
He played eighteen minutes against Oklahoma City last Thursday, and
I don't think he's going to play. I think he's
listed his out, but I'll double check on that. But yeah,
Tristan Thompson is one of your favorites. So Evin Mobley
is ducking. Yes, Jalen Green is what you're saying. We
got all these Texas centers on one. See Thompson doesn't play,
Jared Allen doesn't Jared Yeah, Longhorn legend, Jared Allen, a

(15:41):
lot of that out there.

Speaker 2 (15:42):
He's really good, good defensively, And.

Speaker 5 (15:45):
I think by seven o'clock to night, Ross, there's gonna
be a lot of people in Houston, Texas with a
little bit of Cavin. If you ever want to go
out and do something, Okay, come on to the game. Yeah,
but be safe. Yeah, please be careful. Donovan Mitchell's playing great.
Darius Garland is one of the better players that nobody
ever talks about a couple of years ago. Yeah, largely
the unknown. Yeah, Mitchell has been great. Carrisel Vert, who

(16:06):
didn't play there night, is really good for them too.
I mean Sam Merrill, I mean George n I mean
these are not House Merrill. They're great, with a lot
of with a large amount of unknowns. Donovan Mitchell, would
you call him not a superstar? I guess people know
who he is. Yeah, yeah, for sure, for sure. All right,

(16:28):
so that's going on tonight. We'll have you made join
us at one o'clock today to give us a little
rundown of that. Let's see, we got Billy Wagner in
the Hall of Fame after the tenth time. I do
have a couple of things. You know, when you're in
a hotel room by yourself and you are bored, like
I was, I.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
Peru five minutes later, then what are you doing?

Speaker 5 (16:46):
I perused the four you tab, which is dangerous in
large mons. But I did find two interesting little show
things to throw in and we'll mix them in coming up.

Speaker 2 (16:54):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (16:54):
One is about the NCAA basketball tournament, and one is
about the college football playoff tournament.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
Trist is peaked. Okase, we got that for you.

Speaker 5 (17:02):
Also, there continues to be lots of rumors in the
window that Roger Goodell is going to force the eighteen
game schedule, maybe not next year, but the year after.
He's basically called it inevitable, correct, Yeah, and I think
he could have called it an inevitable five years ago.

Speaker 4 (17:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
What about all the player safety initiatives. They don't care
about that.

Speaker 5 (17:21):
You play. The Texans played three games in eleven days.
The whole bit of player safety is is just protecting
our players. Priority one is just taking care of our
guys the product.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
But in reality, if you bump it down to two
preseason games in eighteen games, you're playing the same amount
of games. No, you're not. Well, Larry Tensil doesn't care
about playing in a month of August period, So that's
that's you know, CD Stroud's not playing three preseason games.

Speaker 4 (17:47):
You know.

Speaker 5 (17:47):
Honestly, Rossie, when I saw that story just a couple
of days ago, I think it's false anger towards from
the players.

Speaker 2 (17:54):
They're gonna they're gonna see revenues bump up again.

Speaker 5 (17:56):
And everything is driven in every walk of life buy money.
There was real resistance to the seventeen If you remember
JJ Watt was banging the drum. I think didn't it
go into I'd have to look this up. We banged
the drum on a lot of things about there was
went to multiple votes. I think there was real resistance
from the players to go to seventeen games. It's just
at the event at the end of it, I think

(18:16):
it was like a fifty one to forty nine vote.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
I feel that could be the same thing. There'll be
a bunch of.

Speaker 5 (18:21):
Probably screaming and yelling on the TV talk shows, and
then they're going to put it in there and they're
gonna wind up getting the SOTURN CAP's going to be raised,
and you're going to have the quarterbacks going from making
fifty two million dollars a year to fifty six million
dollars a year. You're gonna wide receivers going from nineteen
to twenty five. I mean everybody. The eighteenth game is
going to put extra money. It's going to open up
probably another TV package or expansion of what's.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
Going on right now.

Speaker 5 (18:43):
Everything is generating ROSSI we had two games on Netflix
on Christmas Day bringing one hundred and fifty million dollars
to the league. Imagine what another slight of games would bring. Yeah,
I'm sure they're going to go for it. And at
the end of the season product. You even said it,
and I said it in America said Week eighteen, we
weren't even really paying attention, right, those games are terrible

(19:03):
and none of the starters plays. So I don't know
if we're gonna get two weeks of that, if teams
are up enough on the on the standings and stuff
like that.

Speaker 2 (19:09):
So we'll see how good the product actually is.

Speaker 5 (19:11):
But it is going to happen in all likelihood, and
you're right that it probably will get voted through because
just the NFL players Union, for whatever reason, of the
three major American sports, it just seems to be the
weakest as far as the owners have the most. I'll
put it the other way. The owners have the most
control in the NFL to me relative to the NBA,
a major league base But if and conversely to the

(19:32):
play baseball and the basketball.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
If I'm the owners and I go to the Union and.

Speaker 5 (19:37):
Say here, see this, check right here, Netflix wants to
buy the entire week eighteen schedule from US for whatever
they're out, the players go Okay, I think they don't.
They may they may be the weakest because they don't
necessarily argue.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
About it that hardly about it.

Speaker 5 (19:52):
I think it's also they have they are the least
protected in the event of a strike NBA player. There's
only you know, even the last guy on the bench
in the NBA is making well enough to live for
for a long long time. It's not necessarily the case
on the on a fifty three man, the top ten
guys are making a ton of money, the fifty third

(20:13):
man's not making as much like to hold down in
a strike for as long like John Weeks now granted
making a million a year, he's been.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
In around a million, million and a half his entire.

Speaker 5 (20:23):
Career, you should be able to live a ridiculously comfortable
But that's that's that. You're talking about the fifty third
guys making a million dollars and they're on non guaranteed
contracts as well, So I mean it's a little bit
of a different yeah, But point being is that I
just think the NFL Players Association and it's players can
huff and puff, but when that check comes in and

(20:44):
they look at the dollar amount and they go total
revenue for the league, and we get a what you're
telling me, we get a certain percentage guarantee to that
league revenue.

Speaker 2 (20:51):
Oh, we'll take the eighteenth game. Yeah. So, but it will.

Speaker 5 (20:58):
Well, it will hurt the early games because the early
games have been so poorous the last couple of years,
because the guys don't play in the preseason. O hurt
we have more dog games like we had this year towards.

Speaker 2 (21:08):
The month of December. M I don't know.

Speaker 5 (21:13):
I mean I have to go through like the week
one schedule. I don't remember it being too sloppy. I
think the last couple of years we've we've seen defenses dominate.
It's almost like like like pitchers and catchers with twenty
nine twenty seven. The pitchers have more success against batters
because they have they're the ones that are getting themselves
ready or one of the anything in baseball, you have
games that are lopsided more in the first month of

(21:34):
the year than you win in the second half. The
Eagles Packers was a shootout Week one. Let's see Texans
Colts is twenty nine to twenty seven. Yeah, there's a
mixed bag. Though it was a Vikings Giants was a
dog game twenty eight to six. It looks like about
a regular week to me. Okay, I'm just saying.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
I think the Christmas I remember the Saints had forty
seven against the Panthers and then they beat up the
cow always after that, right, Yeah, and then the Super
Bowl and then they lost like eight games in a
row after that.

Speaker 4 (22:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (22:06):

Show with Ross.

Speaker 2 (23:57):
We thank you for listening.

Speaker 5 (23:59):
If you're out there, stay home, stay safe, relax, send
a tweet to add supports HMT.

Speaker 2 (24:10):
All right, guys, and we'll get Dan involved in this.

Speaker 9 (24:13):
Dan.

Speaker 5 (24:13):
You're not cranking out right now, are you. You're just
some normal emotions feelings. I feel like a brand new man.
Oh nice, got a lot of sleep, feeling good?

Speaker 2 (24:21):
All right.

Speaker 5 (24:22):
Two things I saw on Twitter last night, and the
for you tab largely involves women with barely any clothes on.

Speaker 2 (24:27):
That's your for you tab. Don't don't assume algorithms around here.

Speaker 5 (24:33):
Brother, They got the they got you out of bullseye pal.
I don't believe it to be accurate at all, nailed
to a t, so get back to me. So I
did find some sports things on there. One is from
John Rothstein, basketball guy. Okay, we've had him on the
show once. It was kind of a little off pudding.
But why what do you mean? It was very pleasant?
What do you he called you an ahole or something.

(24:55):
He was just kind of a little little smug. I mean,
like he can be that way. In My response is, dude,
you're you're not big enough to be there, John Rostein,
who the hell are you pointing? Is just be nice,
right John Rostein? So he had one thing about the
NCAA basketball tournament, and I have another thing from uh

(25:17):
Ross Dellinger.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
Is he an athoughtic guy for football? He's college football.

Speaker 5 (25:22):
I don't remember where he's from now Yahoo now he
used to be ESPN. Right, let me give you the
scenario that Rostein has for basketball. This is something he
thought of, and then this is what Dellinger heard about
college football. This is basketball first, he would like to say.
He first of fall said he never wants the tournament
to expand from where it is right now. It's sixty
eight teams. That feels right to me. If you get

(25:44):
the ninety six, I think it's kind of hoky, and
it's only for more money, right. He believes the final
eight at large teams should be the ones that play
the first four games in Dayton. Yeah, and that all
thirty one automatic qualifiers should automatically get to the round
of sixty four. So if you win the SWACK or
the Sun Belt or the MIAC or the IVY League

(26:08):
or the Patriot, any of those super small leagues that
you did compete, you did something to win your championship.
The rightful prize is not having to go to play
to Dayton in a short period of time and have
to work your way into the big field. He thinks
if you win your conference championship, whether it's through a
tournament or the regular season title, and most teams are
now in tournaments, even the Ivyleague as a tournament, I

(26:29):
think now you win your conference erment, you deserve the
automatic bid. The eight at large team at the last
eight should go to Dayton to go compete. Agreer disagree.

Speaker 2 (26:39):
I'm with it. I disagree.

Speaker 5 (26:43):
You can get You're throwing away a whole season's resume
because what if some team with like a losing record
in their conference happens to get hot and wins the
conference championship. It happens, doesn't mean they're more deserving than
some other team with a better resume. I would stick
to doing it on resumes which they don't do necessarily.
They usually have what twelves play each other in sixteen's,

(27:04):
you know, it's a couple of sixteen matchups and a
couple twelve or ten or whatever matchups. I honestly, I
don't mean to be fence setting on this because we
don't believe in it.

Speaker 2 (27:12):
I can see it both ways, okay, because.

Speaker 5 (27:15):
Again, you're if you are in let's say you are there,
George Mason, you play in the eight ten.

Speaker 2 (27:21):
The SEC is never gonna invite you to the play
in the in the a tent, so you have to
play in the league in what you're in. So you
should be rewarded for if you are in a league
and you play a conference tournament to determinate champion, if
that's if that's the ultimate goal for you, because you
can't play with the other big boys, you should get
a reward for it.

Speaker 5 (27:37):
And also, I mean to push back on Ross's point,
the U of H run what was that twenty twenty
eleven when they were under five hundred and so now
made a run in the tournament and made the tournament
and got bounced in the first round. That's the exception.
That's not the rule. Like that very rarely happens. It
does happen though, where teams go on. Teams that probably
wouldn't have gotten into the tournament do all in their

(27:57):
conference tournaments. They're not talking ab a full he's in
resume rather than I got hot for one weekend. Okay,
I mean, as I'm saying, I could see it that way.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
I could. Honestly, I could see it both ways.

Speaker 5 (28:06):
It wouldn't be one of those situations that I go, wow,
I don't know. I I do want to play for something.
I want to be able to have a second life,
and tournaments do do that. Now, nine and twenty two
teams don't typically win tournaments, but you could. Guys, you
could see a seventeen and fifteen team get hot for
a few days. I got a writer for you on
John Rothian's what if you win? If you win your conferences,
regular season and the tournament, then you don't have to

(28:28):
go in to play it.

Speaker 2 (28:31):
Okay, I'll like GET two. I like all three of
the cereals. But it's also though too.

Speaker 5 (28:36):
I mean, the reason why I think this would be
great is for the most part the dating games they
scratched the itch. But aside from that, you're waiting until
Thursday anyway. Yeah, but that's excitement. Well, the negative towards
agreeing with John would be if I'm in a ridiculously
hard conference. I mean, if I'm in the SEC, how

(28:57):
many you say nine teams right now are in the top
twenty fives?

Speaker 2 (29:00):
Crazy like that.

Speaker 5 (29:01):
Yeah, there's only been one of those nine teams that
are gonna get in. And if I'm if I'm ten
and eight in my league and all of a sudden,
I'm a bottom feeder team, why should I be penalized
because I plan a super difficult conference. So honestly, I
can see it both ways on this, I just thought
I would throw it out there. Now, what Ross Dellinger
is reporting? It's Dellinger or Dellinger, I don't know what tellinger.
He must have gotten something wrong before because I have

(29:22):
him muted. He must have misreported something. This is something
that he is hearing now. I don't know if you
guys know what's he hearing. He is hearing now there's
supposed to be a meeting of the athletic directors of
the SEC and the Big ten. This is just those
two conferences big money. Now, you know, in those two
conference eight e's meet. There's something. Can I even going

(29:42):
down out for number one? They're not doing this to say,
how can we get the Big twelve more money? No,
they're not caring about the ACC. No, oh, the resurrection
of the PAC twelve. They don't care about these things.
Here's what he's hearing. Taking the twelve team college football
playoff and expanding it to fourteen teams?

Speaker 2 (30:06):
What it gets worse? Huh in this fourteen team field? Oh?
Can I guess without I haven't looked.

Speaker 5 (30:19):
Big ten and Big SEC get two automatic bids, try
four four.

Speaker 2 (30:24):
Here's how they say it.

Speaker 5 (30:26):
Four automatic bids for the Big Ten, four for the SEC,
two bids for the Big twelve, two bids for the ACC,
one for the Group of five one and one for
an at large, which likely would be Notre Dame, provided
they stay out of a Notre Dame.

Speaker 2 (30:44):
If you're good enough, you're in.

Speaker 4 (30:47):
Now.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
This couldn't happen for next year, but it certainly could
happen in two year. Teen team what's the format? Then
you probably you'd have a double by situation somewhere along.

Speaker 5 (30:55):
Yeah, now I have heard for next year they are
kicking around the idea of getting rid of the highest
group of five automatically as a top four, but they
do need to get rid of it. I think it's
gonna happen too. But Dan, listen to me. You are
taking the two most powerful conferences in saying we are
so good we automatically take up eight spots whether we

(31:19):
deserve them or not. Wow, that's pretty damn ballsy. Actually,
I think you're looking at the wrong way. It's the
two conferences that have the fu money of the power
four and saying what are you gonna do about it?

Speaker 2 (31:30):
Big twelve?

Speaker 5 (31:30):
What are you gonna do about it? Acc you can't
move us off this spot. If we ask for it,
likely we're going to get it. And two of the
teams out of one of these two leagues were the
ones who are the loudest of way, wait a minute,
why weren't we one of the final twelve? Ole miss
in South Carolina?

Speaker 2 (31:48):
Alabama? Alabama? Alabama?

Speaker 5 (31:51):
Who got you gotta be thinking Alabama's pushing this really hard?
This this is Alabama, druid. That's a good point by you, guys.
This has got Greg Burn written all over it, because yeah,
they were like, oh hey, you know that's what we
get for scheduling a tough conference schedule, and it's like
you lost in conference. Ingo, that's what it was. Yes, okay,
so don't schedule mark you know't me. I can't analogize

(32:11):
very well. Oh oh, but help me out. Let's think
of an analogy in this. Okay, you are, you have
a party, and there's fourteen people in bie of the party,
but we've already predetermined eight of the people going in
whether they deserve it or not to get into the party.
I mean, they're by far the two best leagues right now,

(32:31):
and generally speaking, if you probably did it that way,
I mean, and it's at its face value, he's they're
probably right. But I just hate in title groups of
people demanding something four autobids is stupid, It's ridiculous. In
each conference now, in any given year, probably four SEC
teams and four big teams teams are deserted.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
Any given year, it's probably gonna happen.

Speaker 5 (32:55):
It's probably gonna happen, but I mean, things can change
year toy and you guys might scoff, but I mean,
just follow the money and follow the TV numbers of
the markets that are in both of these conferences. They're
top five every single year Columbus and the Southeast, that's
where the largest television numbers are. And also too, they're

(33:15):
the ones that far and away out earn the Big
twelve in the ACCS. So if they're the ones coming
to the table with this, I guarantee you the rest
of the College Football Playoffs Committee fun is going to
listen to it and say they got a point. Also
not a question of David point I says, what if
they say no, what does SECN? They're gonna go like, well,
then we're gonna cut you out of there. Guess what
zero Auto bids for you. They'll be the good guys

(33:37):
and say, hey, why don't we start our own thing?
Then if you guys can join us. I don't know, man,
this is pretty cool a power play. If this gets
past well, this is also, by the way, why I
never care about the players getting as much money as possible,
because the conferences of these schools are doing the same thing.

Speaker 2 (33:54):
Seriously, that is as about as ballsy as it gets.
Right there. And by the way, telling your fellow power.

Speaker 5 (33:58):
For schools, ACC, we don't think you can put together
four automatics Big twelve.

Speaker 2 (34:04):
We don't think you can get four automatics.

Speaker 5 (34:06):
Well, the playoff Committee in fairness two years ago did
the dirty work for him with Florida State of Saint Jordan.

Speaker 2 (34:11):
Travis is hurt. You're not the same team. You're out.
But think about this though. Let's say the Big Twelve
had four awesome teams. Yes, yes, wown happen. Stop, I'm
just kidding.

Speaker 5 (34:22):
You could have four. You're limiting four. You're limiting the
Big twelve in the ACC from having four teams. Let's
say you put in a ranking and they put in Yeah,
BYU is team number twelve in the rankings. In Alabama
is team number thirteen, But they happen to be the
fourth best SEC team, so they get in over the
YU team.

Speaker 2 (34:39):
There would be outrage, outrage. That's why this can this
can't have this.

Speaker 5 (34:43):
Yeah, you know I'm calling bs and Ross Dellinger In
the first place, it gets back to no, I'm not
if it's the If he's reporting something that's regarding the SEC,
I'm one hundred percent on it because he's aces when
it comes to covering that league. But it also gets
back to tying it into the John Ross thing of
the NCAA tournament. People might say, hey, upsets are awesome.

(35:05):
People love upsets in the first two rounds. Once you
get to the sweet sixteen in the Elite eight, then
whoever's hosting the Final four that year says, hey, you
know what, Butler, nice story, but please don't win. We
want more people coming to our games. We want more
people watching. I just I mean, haven't helped it a
year where the ACC would have Miami, Florida State, Clemson,

(35:29):
and give me somebody else, Boston College, Syracuse, who else
would be a decent accus I guess, lorda State. I mean,
there's a year we're flooring Louisville could have. Yeah, you're
basically telling the big twelves in the SEC and the
ACC you're never gonna have more than two teams in
unless you get to grab that at large spot.

Speaker 2 (35:48):
Good luck with that.

Speaker 5 (35:49):
Well, I mean SMU is a great example of that
of you know, people wondering is it gonna be them
or is it gonna be Alabama? And then of course
they went with SMU, which was the right choice. But
I guarantee you in that committee room, not a single
person wanted them to beat Penn State and they got
their wish. Yep, all right, ten forty six Sports Talk

This song on itself explains twenty decade of the eighties
is one of the worst music decades of all time.

Speaker 2 (37:47):
Hold your tongue. This song is horrible. Number one hits.
I catchy, but it's not a great no great lyrics.
Voice is average.

Speaker 5 (38:05):
It was like this show, all right, it is the
Matt Thomas Show with Ross seven to one three top
and wrote this no way, not front of the show.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
His uncle, his brother is a friend of the show
make scones by the way, Kit, shout out to you kid,
if you're out there bringing some scones. You like a scone?

Speaker 5 (38:27):
I can dig in on scone like scones, as long
as they're not too dry. I go to Mocha Joe's. Yeah,
the too dry voice scone. Yeah.

If the coffee is not hot enough either, Moka Joe's.
You can't get though. You guys are making references that
I assume we're going over there.

All right.

Speaker 5 (38:51):
Ten fifty four on Sports Talk seven on It is
The Matt Thomas Show with Ross. I got the Rockets
game tonight against Cleveland. Uh, and then we go on
the road Friday to play Cleveland again. Well, the NBA
are doing this deal. No schedule favors here Cleveland, Boston, Atlanta,
Memphis of the next road trip.

Speaker 2 (39:06):
Dang. Now the Atlanta game was rescheduled, but still that's
a that's a heavy lifting road trip there. Then we
got a piece of cake Brooklyn coming in after that,
so we're hopefully a piece of cake. And they lost
last night to the Knicks. I was watching that you were.
I mean, then wasn't else? I only what do you
think about the Knicks frontcourt player Karlity Towns has been
really good for them, Thanks for asking. Miles McBride. Miles McBride,

(39:31):
that sounds made up. No, he's definitely a player, Okay,
definitely play.

Speaker 5 (39:35):
By the way, there's a video going on and I
don't know what it is because I got to figure
out the context of it. The Rockets played the Pistons
on Monday and beat them, and then after the game
they were supposed to fly to Birmingham, but I don't
think they left for Birmingham until late at night, so
they had some hours to kill. So the Detroit Pistons

(39:58):
went to a Bucky's. Oh I'm assuming they went to
the one in Perland. That'd be the closest one to
Hobby Airport, right, Yeah, I don't know. And it's a
TikTok video.

Speaker 2 (40:08):
O thought that. By way, TikTok is available once again
to your friends and family. Okay, we're good, thank god.

Speaker 5 (40:13):
And it was only about a twenty second clip. But
these kids, these kid, these.

Speaker 2 (40:16):
Kids, these young adults were like mesmerized by this place. Yeah,
BUCkies is great. I'm sorry rookies.

Speaker 5 (40:23):
Could you imagine going to a rookies and having fifteen
NBA players come in?

Speaker 2 (40:27):
That'd be cool.

Speaker 5 (40:28):
It's the kind of pretty. And they have mm hm
had a lot of beaver nuggets for one hundred and
twenty five dollars a day, all the jerky oh yeah,
cake balls, fudge, Southwest Trail Mix, brisket sandwich. Probably not
nutritionists was probably keeping them all away from the brisket sandwiches,
strawberry sour belts.

Speaker 2 (40:45):
You know what I like is the red spicy peanuts bingo.
Really huh? What about the chocolate covered all and the
candy peanuts are good too.

Speaker 5 (40:52):
The Yeah, by the way, though that place has gotten
smega expensive, it used to be quite affordable. No, you
can't know. I told you why you drop it? You
blink and drop one hundred bucks in there.

Speaker 2 (41:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (41:02):
I got in a fight with Kim over this. I
say a couple years back. She's like, she spent sixty
two dollars.

Speaker 2 (41:07):
Her in Carly. I said, what the hell are you doing?

Speaker 5 (41:10):
Half the place you need like one bag of almonds
and a couple of sandwiches. You can spend sixty bucks. Crazy crazy,
it is absolutely crazy. But you know what, there are
people that are making great money working there.

Speaker 2 (41:21):
That's true. You right. They still haven't called me back.
Did you apply? Yeah, I'm waiting.

Speaker 5 (41:27):
You know, overnight managers make like twenty six dollars an hour.
That sounds great, just throwing it out there. Yeah, that's
the rule of thumb.

Speaker 2 (41:35):
You double it. That's about fifty two a yearish, fifty
five ish.

Speaker 5 (41:38):
Next time we go to a rokies we see Ross
in the red collar man. Yeah, man, I'll hook you
guys atys. Yeah, what do you want some fudge?

Speaker 2 (41:45):
Many and playing? No, I don't. I don't like fudge.
You don't what a peanut butter fudge? Delicious?

Speaker 10 (41:50):
No?

Speaker 2 (41:51):
Too rich? Okay, I'm not a fudge guy. You can
klatchimina death if you want to chocolate covered cons that
they have, Yeah, sugar free. I'll bake you up a class,
spin in a clots and bake it up for you.
All right.

Speaker 5 (42:05):
That'll take care of the rookies. Talk for the day
on the show. Now we're all hungry thinking about trying
to go to a to a stop. Poor loves just sitting.
We were popular back then. I mean, they're fine if
you can't find. If you can't find a rookies you've heard,
you got to go to Russ Ryan J. I like
a Ryan Jay and Ryan Ja. It's got a Denny
usually attached to it. You can take a shower and

(42:26):
get your clothes clean while you're there.

Speaker 4 (42:29):
A mick rip.

Speaker 2 (42:30):
Those are nice. Oh yeah, those are nice too.

Speaker 5 (42:33):
I just realized that people like truck stops, just not
the truckers.

Speaker 2 (42:40):
We picked you up a lot lizard at the Loves
when I was a freshman in college in North Texas
and we stayed the best western Oklahoma city. When you
go at the racetrack and there was a there was
a truck stop. And that's where we can say a
wreck dopp or Now this is rhyming out. What did
you say? Would you call him lizards? Would you call him?

Speaker 4 (42:58):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (42:58):
Lot lizards?

Speaker 5 (42:58):
A lot lizards? I saw my first lot lizard there. Really,
how much you charge you?

Speaker 2 (43:03):
I know I didn't pay? Are you kidding me? I
was years money for that. I wasn't making the immense
of wealth that I'm making now.

Speaker 5 (43:11):
Fifty bucks in a pack of jerky. But they literally
go from eighteen eighteen wheeler. Huh, good for them.

Speaker 4 (43:18):
They don't.

Speaker 2 (43:21):
Uh shower that learned about the other side of life
that day.

Speaker 5 (43:25):
Yeah, hmmm, well it's a honest living single truck drivers
you love too ross It gets lonely out of there
in the road bad.

Speaker 2 (43:33):
Yeah, you can't only be on your walkie talking for
so long. Yeah, the nine the world's oldest profession. Yeah,
lot of lizards? Did you think of that phrase?

Speaker 5 (43:48):
Is something that's that's like, Yeah, that's a common Okay,
I got you check the Urban Dictionary. I believe the
act itself is called excuse me, what did you say?
I said, I believe the act itself is called road beef.
Road road beef. That's what I believe.

Speaker 2 (44:06):
It's called dance.

Speaker 5 (44:08):
Seems to know a lot about this. Matt seen movies, No, Dan,
I think now, of course you've seen movies. Your Your
life is a movie. What about me tells you that
I have ever even gotten close to dabbling into this world?

Speaker 2 (44:23):
Do you pull the bullharn when you're done? To let
everybody else know? The best part of that was a sound.

Speaker 5 (44:33):
Who needs to Well, you know, they do have beds
in the back of their trucks so they don't have
to spend the night.

Speaker 2 (44:37):
Yeah. Not that I know for any firsthand. But it's
on TikTok. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (44:41):
Thanks, TikTok tells you a lot of things, all right,
Time for a break. The talk is huge in the
trucker world. Yeah, I'm not interested in doing that. I
only to drive periods. So when I want to become
up profresh truck like I might, I might uber for it.

(45:02):
It'd be fun, But I don't think I want to
do that for a long term either, Especially he was
lyfting uber, taking such big chunks of the people's money
for driving. I don't know why it's even worth it anymore.
So I got to tip nicely ross talking in the
uber or not talking. Mostly time not talking, you can go.
I like to close my eyes and relax, all right.
Eleven o'clock Sports talks them in a second hour of four.

(45:24):
If you have the first hours, agree, you can't wait
for the next half hour. Rockets, Cavaliers, Billy Wagner in
the Hall of Fame. Eleven different astros now found themselves
in the Hall of Fame. It's pretty good number, right.
It's not Yankee Dodger good, but it's pretty damn good. Yeah,
we'll talk more about it next here on seven ninety
after I tell you about the Shell Federal Credit Union

(45:46):
shell FCU dot org. Shellfcu dot org for the incredible folks.
At the Shell Federal Credit Union, auto loan rates as
low as three point nine to nine percent are available
for you. Skip A pays are available. You also have
the opportunity for deferred payments, and you have two hundred
and fifty dollars in cash back, all from the Shell
Federal Credit Union online at shellpcu dot org. Shellfsu dot org.

(46:08):
I got a car refinanced through Shell FSU. The process
was easy. In fact, I'm so happy with the service
I received from Shell that I'm still a member of
their credit union and will be for the duration. Amazing
customer service. Branch locations all over the place, and if
you live, work, conduct business, to do anything in Harrison County,
you can join the Shell EPSU family.

Speaker 2 (46:26):
So if you're.

Speaker 5 (46:27):
Unhappy with the auto owned rates you're getting from the
dealer that you're about to purchase a vehicle from, think
of the alternative. The Shell Federal Credit Union online at
shell fsu dot org. At shell fcu dot org.

Speaker 1 (46:40):
Lunchtimers, this is the Matt Thomas Show.

Speaker 5 (46:44):
Love and five on Sports Talk seven. I know we
got to hut you of all my ass up coming
up in twenty five minutes from now. I want to
say honestly that everybody in Houston, you did a really
good job. Very few accidents. I know there's some people
that were startled. There were people on the freeways yesterday.
It's hard to tell six million people not to do something.
It's hard to tell said something is to stay home
and chill. Yeah, it's easier, that's true. But I mean,

(47:07):
generally speaking, y'all didn't do anything yesterday. Now today, the
streets and freeways are much more active. Airports are open.
People gotta get out of town, whatnot for business. But
just be super careful as you drive around, and please
listen to us, and we will give you zero other reports.

Speaker 2 (47:20):
We'll just talk sports and live life. What do you mean?
How's it going on there? Is it nice and sunny?

Speaker 5 (47:24):
It looked great this morning. Again, if you're if you're
in the shade, you're gonna have a harder time getting
rid of the ice. But if you've got sun, it's
it's gonna be. What's it's thirty six degrees now, so
it's above freezing, it's gonna get in the thirty six
and Sonny right now, Yeah, in Houston. So again, if
you if you have flights today, you're gonna be de late.
I mean, you got thousands of people trying to scram
onto every single seat available on flights. But generally speaking,

(47:45):
it's uh, you know, we're back to normal, and I
think we're gonna be in the high sixties in a
couple of days. So all go back to seventy by
the weekend. Yeah, all the slush is gonna be gone.

Speaker 2 (47:54):
All right?

Speaker 5 (47:55):
What else we got going on today? We mentioned rockets?
Tonight we've got no one person didn't vote for Ichiro
Suzuki didn't get into the Hall of Fame, the ten
time gold Glover with three thousand hits who started his
career late.

Speaker 2 (48:12):
Do you think it was.

Speaker 5 (48:12):
Somebody just forgot unintentionally or do you think it.

Speaker 2 (48:18):
I'm with Ross and the and the and them.

Speaker 5 (48:22):
And by the way, those that don't know the Major
League Baseball Writers Association, uh not Major Major League Baseball
Writer mlb AA something, it's something what is it called
Dan Baseball Writers BBW as what it's called. They they're
the only ones that get to vote for it. Broadcasters,

(48:43):
television radio broadcasters, National radio television broadcasters do not get
to vote.

Speaker 2 (48:47):
It's only based on the print media to do it.

Speaker 5 (48:49):
So that's Athletic, that's ESPN, that's local reporters from different markets.

Speaker 2 (48:54):
They all get a mix of who gets to get
in there. B BW A A, BBW A A.

Speaker 5 (49:00):
That's also a group that has age range of people
that are currently in the industry to people that have
been long out of the industry.

Speaker 2 (49:07):
Yes, so it could be a variety of different folks.
So's to even try to guess as to who it
was would be moot because there's so many different people
doing it.

Speaker 5 (49:15):
The gatekeepers of the game, if you will, Gosh, Rookie
of the Year, MVP, multiple batting titles, ten Gold Gloves,
and three thousand hits, but yet it has to wait
a year.

Speaker 2 (49:26):
According to one person, Yeah.

Speaker 5 (49:31):
It's almost like you know, but I mean, honestly, I
mentioned John Hayman earlier. John Hayman voted for Tory Hunter
and did not vote for Billy Wagner. Yeah, that's what
cracks me up that he had the nerve to go
on Twitter and say, I want to know who that
one person is bruh, bruh.

Speaker 2 (49:46):
He is seriously ugh. And I don't mean to. Look.

Speaker 5 (49:50):
I've never said one word to John Hayman because I
don't need to. But there's a lot of people I've
never said one word to in journalism, in sports, in
our business that I've hadremendous amount of respect for.

Speaker 2 (50:03):
But man, I just he makes me cringe. It's the
self importance, that's That's what makes you feel that way.

Speaker 5 (50:12):
But I'm working with a lot of self important people
around here too, and I worker client and I talked
to him every day.

Speaker 2 (50:16):
That's true.

Speaker 5 (50:18):
Take it easy on him. He deserves it. My point
is that, aw, what what is it with me? Ross
that I have such disdain for national people?

Speaker 2 (50:30):
You're just a hater natural? Maybe that's what it is.

Speaker 5 (50:33):
Like, Let's go to the list of people I don't like.
I feel like I'm Clinton here, Okay, here we go.
Zero less is the longest in history. No respect for
Mike Florio whatsoever. Jeff Passon, zero respect, zero respy away
the way he is just globbing all over the Los
Angeles doctor. I mean he's been I was trying to

(50:53):
decide if this phrase is FCC friendly, So I'm not going.

Speaker 2 (50:56):
To say it. Okay, that's some inspects for smart Now
I think mine went d t Mmm.

Speaker 5 (51:06):
I've lost a lot of respect for Buster Olning. I
do like Rosenthal, Jack Morosi, No, Chandler Rome, We love Love.
Chandler reported earlier by the way that Cubs are interested,
possibly interested in acquiring Ryan Presley. Okay, Ryan Presley with
this team at camp, No, I think they're gonna pull
the trigger to They're gonna try to They're gonna have

(51:28):
to send money.

Speaker 2 (51:28):
Though.

Speaker 5 (51:29):
If Chandler's throwing that out there, I think he feels
comfortable enough that it's someone they're gonna have to send
money or just get nothing in return. We don't want
to He was gonna have to pay fourteen million dollars
to a thirty six year old who's had two of
his worst years, and we have to convince Ryan to
go somewhere else, which my guess is for the for
the talent of his career.

Speaker 2 (51:47):
He probably thinking this is probably not a bad idea.

Speaker 5 (51:49):
Yeah, all right, So again, I like Tom Berducci a lot.
He does not ever want to come on the show anymore,
but I just I don't hold that against him.

Speaker 2 (51:58):
He says it always busy, is like you might bring it.
He's always brazy busy traveling. Apparently you can get me
on the field.

Speaker 5 (52:03):
Yeah, get him on the field, Matt, And I'm okay,
uh yeah, that's just the next I think. Maybe do
you just when you become national guy, you just become
uber smarmy and two.

Speaker 2 (52:13):
Rise to those heights. You do have to uh hmm.

Speaker 5 (52:18):
You step on a few people along the way, sometimes
sometimes not everyone. I understand you can't make everybody happy,
but like if you're not being called upon a ton
throw a bone every once in a while, like you're
not that busy.

Speaker 2 (52:31):
No, I'm not caring.

Speaker 5 (52:32):
I don't care about the talk show part. I mean
because I will never have Floring on again. I mean,
I just think the way he conducts his business as
a report, well he's an angry and not a reporter. Yeah,
the way that Haymon just I mean, he took a
he took a tweet yesterday to make sure he that
whoever what he called my knucklehead that didn't take us
something along. Now, Yeah, I tried not to focus.

Speaker 2 (52:53):
But Tory Hunt.

Speaker 5 (52:54):
Look, Tory Hunter is one of the most is one
of the most likable people I've ever covered in sports.
I mean, just outstanding, fun, interesting person and was very
good for a Laarna Harvy's career. But there's no way,
no how in the world the Tory Hunters ever get
in the Hall of Fame. Not in front of Andrew Jones.

Speaker 2 (53:12):
I don't care.

Speaker 5 (53:12):
It's in front of anybody. Tory Hunter's not getting the
Hall of Fame. It's just not happening. But to vote
Tory Hunter in and Billy Wagner not in is you
should get your card pulled. It's just ridiculous. Don't remind
him about the Arson Judge tweet. You get very upset
with you and refuse to come on.

Speaker 2 (53:31):
Your show, this show ever again. I just want to
let you know that.

Speaker 5 (53:36):
Is that your John Haymen impersonation? But that wasn't terrible.
I've heard worse.

Speaker 2 (53:42):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (53:42):
I just if I ever get to the national front,
let me be as affable as I am now. Ross,
I've got to bring more news, Matt ms go. I'm
just gonna do this sidey stuff. A lot more people
think I'm going on didn't you do that? And people
got upset with.

Speaker 2 (53:57):
Lebron James Man, tell me f off go to hell.
I can't take that kind of payment. Yeah, you know what,
I was partially responsible if your idea, and I was
terrible partially responsible. I didn't hit the tweets and tweet
button for you, all right?

Speaker 5 (54:13):
I love in twelve on Sports Talk seven NAUTIY. This
is the Matt Tommys Show with Ross. We'd love to
have you as part of our radio program today if
you want to get in not a lot of piping
hot sports topics. We could go through the fifty three
man roster for next year for the Texans if you want.
Although I think we should give him a break. But
remember Ross, you're as part of the show as much
as I am. So if you feel like we need
to get into a deep cut, deep dive on that,
I'll be happy to do that.

Speaker 2 (54:33):
Why don't we leave that to the YouTube shows today?
M poor YouTube numbers are gonna drop for those folks.
I need to hear that.

Speaker 5 (54:41):
Seven one three two one two five seven Nauty seven
one three two one two five seven ninety. If you're
on Twitter, want to follow us there? It's at Sports MT,
at Sports RV and at Dan Matthews.

Speaker 2 (54:55):

Speaker 5 (54:56):
That's Chris Matthews with one t go and it's on
all which makes it a little Hey, you got to
set yourself apart.

Speaker 2 (55:03):
Man, you didn't set yourself apart. Let me tell you
about the folks at Scott Callahan and Associates. They have
set themselves apart.

Speaker 5 (55:09):
They are one of Texas Super Lawyers by Thompson Reuters
every year and they've been that way since twenty eleven.
Only the top five percent of Texas attorneys are selected
each year to be a Texas Super Lawyer. That are
also Boards certified and personal injury trial law by the
Texas Board of Legal Specialization. That's why I've been happy
to represent them, and that's why Scott Callahan would be

(55:30):
happy to represent you. If you have been involved in
some sort of unexpected accident. We're talking about whether it
be a car accident, eighteen winter wreck, work injuries, construction
or oil field accidents, or unfortunately, in some cases, a
wrongful death. You'll pay no money up front or out
of pocket. There's no travel to an office required. They
put you first, they'll listen to you, they'll fight hard

(55:51):
and give you a voice.

Speaker 2 (55:52):
And the folks at Scott Callahan.

Speaker 5 (55:54):
And Associates want to help you get back on your
feet and will fight the insurance companies if necessary. Seven
to one three eight eight eight nine thousand is their
phone number. That's seven one three eight eight eight nine thousand.
They have a website. It's called we Help Texas dot Com.
We help Texas dot Com get back on your feet.

(56:15):
Don't worry about leaving your house. Let the folks at
Scott Callahan and Associates get you on the road to recovery.

Speaker 2 (56:20):
Seven one three eight eight eight nine thousand.

Speaker 5 (56:22):
We Help Texas dot Com for Scott callahanon Associates Principal Office,
Katie Texas.

Speaker 8 (56:29):
The Matt Tammas Show with Ross continues on Sports Talk
seven ninety.

Speaker 2 (56:36):
They can't even believe it. That was more Dan doing
John haymanpersonation.

Speaker 4 (56:45):
There.

Speaker 2 (56:50):
I like this music.

Speaker 5 (56:50):
We've been playing as good. I won't talk about it,
but it's been a good Dame, but you've been talking
about it almost everybody. No, I'm done. You talked about this.
We built the city.

Speaker 2 (56:58):
It's a Matt Thomas shoe. Ross talk sports something but sports,
sports and more sports. Either this or the heat is
on by Glenn Frye.

Speaker 5 (57:05):
Ay rest Really yeah, oh, man, I wouldn't have gotten
that one too soon. You knew he was dead, right,
I did, Actually I did not, honestly. Yeah, it was
a few years ago, right, Oh my god?

Speaker 2 (57:19):
Or fifteen I think, says twenty sixteen. Yeah, the hell
have I been? I don't know who knows? All right,
I'm we're not talking about music. Okay, go ahead, Rockets
capitaliers tonight. You're interested? Pumped up?

Speaker 4 (57:37):
Fire up?

Speaker 2 (57:38):
I'm fired up? Now? Is Dan doing Dan? You're doing
the Rockets lunch batter right? Yeah, you gotta get some
nice mailing in for you. Are you producing two to
six too?

Speaker 4 (57:46):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (57:46):
Oh my god, Wait a minute. This is the hardest
working man in radio. Okay, that's yeah. Yeah, I'll give
it to you. He's working harder than I am. Yeah,
he is. I've seen you in action, working right now,
reading for the Rockets game as we speak.

Speaker 5 (58:01):
Yeah, I got to call the two and a half
hours of magistry magistrate.

Speaker 2 (58:07):
Yeah, it's not a word, Matt, it is.

Speaker 5 (58:09):
Let's go no, And I believe magic, majesty, majesty may
stream majestically magistry a word I believe.

Speaker 2 (58:17):
So okay, good, thank you, You're welcome.

Speaker 5 (58:20):
And I believe the eighteam are going to be over
at the post Ho Hotel for the Bear Bryan Hoards.
What about eighteen? What about the TV show? I don't
know if we're gonna be doing the TV show. Magistrate.
A principle of nature having transmuting or curative powers.

Speaker 2 (58:35):
That's Rockets Radio right there, that's you right there. You're
probably welcome. I don't think you're properly using the.

Speaker 5 (58:41):
Words, especially you know, the nothing but nylons and left
hand hammers?

Speaker 2 (58:45):
Yeap?

Speaker 5 (58:47):
What about right hand hammers? Right hand hammers. I've caught
a lot of left hands. Yeah, you gotta switch.

Speaker 2 (58:54):
I just want to hell to care, That's all I'm
not asking for. People are caring. One you think it's
a snow.

Speaker 5 (59:02):
Day lags, but you get a full arena tonight. Okay,
Well now he's a little crazy. I don't know about that.
And the ones who will go and buy their jerseys
from certain sporting good stores. They're gonna have their old
Lebron James jerseys, you know, throwbacks. No, nobody's going No,
that's the thing. I completely disagree with you. I think
you might see all that crowd. There are people who
just for the sake of being contrarians or just thinking that.

(59:24):
Oh you know, I've always been a Cavaliers fan. Really,
if I hold up a picture of Mark Price, you
gonna know who that is. You know what if you
if you're if you're a true Cavalier fan, you'll go
to the game tonight with a Craig Elo jersey on
Brad Dorty. Wrong, Brad Doherty, I'm going with my Ironwble jersey.
That drunasilgsks. Somebody shows up and as the Dunas asks

(59:46):
John Williams, you will go back. That's really going about
Booby Gibson hees TV. It's like he's like Cavin Murphy.
You know, Jesse Jones high school grad Delante West at
one time a Cleveland Cavalier.

Speaker 2 (59:58):
Oh yeah again, you don't remember. Yeah, the glorious story. Yeah,
Glory and James and Don Lante.

Speaker 5 (01:00:06):
Dalante back in prison, was rescued off the street, tried
to save his life, but I think he went I mean,
you think he's just crazy. Unfortunately, that's too bad. That's
too bad. All right, So there's your Cleveland Cavalier preview tonight.
Thank you, Matt severyone, and we'll talk Tom dok coming
up in about.

Speaker 2 (01:00:23):
That's the preview.

Speaker 5 (01:00:24):
Yeah, so basically it's going to be a mailing in
addition of the launch pad, because it'll be primarily Dann Matthews.

Speaker 2 (01:00:29):
It's not a mailing in edition matt.

Speaker 3 (01:00:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:00:33):
Yeah, good relevant interviews. I've got the starting.

Speaker 2 (01:00:36):
Lineups, Toko the Yeah Keys to a Victory brought to
you by Fred has Toyota World.

Speaker 5 (01:00:43):
I'm sure it's gonna be great. Okay, don't forget about
rockets rap. I've heard that too. Player of the game. Yeah,
postgame audio. Yeah, not enough of my call so let's
get more. Let's get more of my calls on on
the West side. Yeah, Biscuit hopefully, mick Ki. I haven't
haven't had too many of Biscuit this year. And there's
there's your two calls shows all locked up and loaded.

(01:01:05):
That's what you're gonna get ready to show it be great?

Speaker 2 (01:01:07):
All right? Seven one three two one two five seven
nine zero? What else were gonna get to today? I
was thinking there was something I wanted to get to you.
You had a little topic list of things. Let me
sick and look for something else. Yeah, this is you've
rarely done this, so you know, I'm just giving. That's
not I used to do it almost every day. Used
to be adjusting. I was out of the country. We

(01:01:28):
had the holidays, there's been snow days.

Speaker 5 (01:01:31):
All right, Okay, you have uh mock draft of the
Texans Josh Simmons offensive tackle Ohio State. This is according
to mel Kiper. Yes, a number twenty five mm hmm.
Your thoughts on that, Matt.

Speaker 2 (01:01:42):
My thoughts is, does a number twenty five pick come
in and immediately help the Texans offensive liner?

Speaker 5 (01:01:46):
Does it take a season or two to make that happen?
That's an immediate impact from a tackle. It's possible. But
all you're looking for is an upgrade what you've had,
didn't Bill O'Brien like, give you guys a whole like
crash course on where you draft in the first round,
and these guys will be for sure stars. These guys
are fringe second rounders, So I guess this would be

(01:02:07):
kind of a French second rounder, right, m.

Speaker 2 (01:02:09):
I don't I don't know if I don't know enough
about him. I mean, we need to get an offensive
line of valuator on soon. Do you know any No,
I don't believe there's even one in the market. I
don't know, Okay, I don't know. Maybe there's one.

Speaker 4 (01:02:19):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:02:21):
I tried to get name on anything. Kmas oh go through.

Speaker 5 (01:02:25):
He listens. He's a big SEC locked on SEC listener.
Cole cuberlic is Yeah, I think so. Yeah, I know
Col Gordy. Yeah, look we got connections. Not today though,
he's got it.

Speaker 2 (01:02:34):
He's he is. He still on a radio show in Birmingham.

Speaker 9 (01:02:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:02:36):
He and Greg mclroy. Greg mcoy is really good on
the he's the number two guy on ABC. It's good
for him.

Speaker 4 (01:02:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:02:42):
They tried to do a prize all on that station
of you know, an Alabama and an Auburn guy because
they used to have Aldol Greco and Jay got Jabers
legend Aldo Greco Yeah kicked at Auburn. I didn't know that.
Now the golf coast at Samford University there in Birmingham,
SAMD sam Ford Sanford. Yeah, it usually on Alabama's schedule. Well,

(01:03:06):
I mean we just somebody, look, I we can repeat
this over and over again. The Texans absolutely one must
go for offensive line in the draft, yes, right away.
And then the question is do we trust Nick Cassario
to make offensive line draft picks Kenyon Green.

Speaker 2 (01:03:20):
Will he try to trade up for a higher graded out?

Speaker 4 (01:03:23):
He does?

Speaker 2 (01:03:24):
Trade he does. He's got an itchy trigger finger. The
trade up for a Kelvin Banks out of Texas if
you will, you tell me you've seen him play, you
like that.

Speaker 5 (01:03:34):
There's people that think he's not big enough to be
a tackle at the next level. There there's some some
the draft people I trust, say he's not a top
ten pick. He's in that next group and might have
to move into guard because he's six ' four. Normally
you like your tackles to be about six six by
sixty six. So see see Shack Mason and welcome in

(01:03:57):
Kelvin Banks right guard, bingo.

Speaker 2 (01:03:59):
Shack Mason can't play any more for this team, right?
I don't think so.

Speaker 5 (01:04:03):
I mean that was he had a good first year
this past year. I mean follow the time is undefeated,
especially when it comes to that petition position, is it not. Yeah,
he is thirty one years old. It's good feet, it's
good hands, it's strength.

Speaker 2 (01:04:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:04:20):
The Texans got wrecked by good defensive interiors all season long.

Speaker 2 (01:04:24):
It was a problem all year long. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:04:26):
Yeah, But and to me, getsch get the best offensive
tackle on the board and then we gotta, we gotta,
But we're kind of locked in, aren't we not. Townsill
still got some time left. Townsel's got a couple of
years left. I mean, you're you're and he's good. You
don't want to get rid of I know you had him.
I don't like him, but he's your best of your worst.

Speaker 4 (01:04:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:04:49):
And then who's the other guy that just that was
the first round pick that's still hit that you mean
Blake Fisher was a second round now the veteran guy,
Titus Howard. Yeah, Titus Howard is I mean, well, they
kicked him into the guard the last end of the season.
How Like looks like he was a SIEV too. I mean,
there was nothing I liked. Blake Fisher was horrible start
of the season. He got better as the season went along.
He still gets pushed around as far as I think

(01:05:11):
if he can build up his strength and continue to
get stronger, I mean he's twenty one years old.

Speaker 2 (01:05:15):
Yeah, I think Blake Fisher can be a good pick.

Speaker 1 (01:05:17):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (01:05:17):
Yeah, I think to give up on an offensive lineman
after one year would be would be significantly premuch, specially
one that got better as the season went along is Juice.

Speaker 2 (01:05:24):
Scruggs, just a guy by the way. Yeah, he's decent, capable, capable.
I like that. Yeah, let's go to George. We'll get
to shut your ball mass up. Hi George.

Speaker 7 (01:05:35):
Hey guys, definitely listening to what you guys are saying.

Speaker 9 (01:05:39):
I'm just curious.

Speaker 7 (01:05:40):
I'm sure you guys have seen it too.

Speaker 3 (01:05:41):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:05:42):
Some people are saying that we should maybe get the
Ohio State receiver.

Speaker 7 (01:05:45):
I can't say his name, so I don't want to
butcher it, but yes, sir, yes I would, thank you.

Speaker 2 (01:05:52):
We should get.

Speaker 11 (01:05:52):
Him with the first round.

Speaker 7 (01:05:53):
Then we can pick up some old linemen in like
the later round.

Speaker 2 (01:05:57):
Just curious what I'll think. And also for Tunsel, I'm
kind of opened. To me, it's like a like a
high selling salesman who can make the deals but also
drops the biggest ones. There you go.

Speaker 3 (01:06:08):
I'm just curious what you guys think.

Speaker 8 (01:06:09):
And I was always loved the show.

Speaker 2 (01:06:11):
Thank you guys, Thank you George.

Speaker 5 (01:06:12):
Yeah, I'm not a big Tunsil fan at all. I mean,
he's capable, he obviously has built quite a resume, but
I think I think the marquee is.

Speaker 2 (01:06:21):
One thing, and then when you go into the movie,
the show itself. You a little agree.

Speaker 5 (01:06:24):
He's had really good games where he's shut down Miles
Garrett and and some good drushers.

Speaker 2 (01:06:31):
It's too many penalties. It's too many penalties for sure.

Speaker 5 (01:06:33):
Afo the the I think, I think when I look
at this year, was way worse than it was last year. Yeah,
I think he's good, not great. But you know what,
with this offensive line, I'm not replacing him. I'm not
saying you. I am saying getting ready to get rid
of him. You you were locked in his His salary cat
number is astronomical. You couldn't trade him for what his
his worth is in terms of getting dollar for dollar payback. Uh, Rossie,

(01:06:57):
I'm against going after a wide receiver in the first round.
When you go get a wide receiver in the first round,
aren't you that isn't that your WR one? You've already
invested and you've got a WR one already here. Nico
Collins is the main go two guy, Yeah he is,
But no, I have no problem with a wide receiver
in the first round.

Speaker 2 (01:07:15):
Didn't the Bengals do that with Chase and Higgins?

Speaker 5 (01:07:18):
Did they already have Higgins when they took Chase I
think so, yeah, you might.

Speaker 2 (01:07:22):
I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm saying I don't know.
The Bearers took Roma Doonza and they already had DJ
Moore and Keenan Allen. There you go.

Speaker 5 (01:07:32):
I don't disagree that that wide receiver is not an
argument to go early, but.

Speaker 2 (01:07:39):
You gotta start.

Speaker 5 (01:07:39):
You have to start rebranding that offensive line, and I
think you want to do it with guys that have
been that are the top three in their positions. If
we're looking to help out CJ shout as much as possible,
it's offensive line, it's wide receiver. I don't think it's
an accident that the last two years Pat Mahomes has
looked like just a guy. When he has and when
he lost Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelsey has gotten a

(01:08:01):
lot older. You have this guy, who I mean has
won three Super Bowls and are already going to be
one of the greatest of all time if you look
at his his interceptions have been around ten to fifteen
the last two years, with touchdowns being around twenty five
to twenty six. But who's offensive line? And I don't
know the answer this whose offensive line has been more
highly regarded the Texans.

Speaker 2 (01:08:19):
Offensive line of the Chiefs the Chiefs, that's not even close.

Speaker 5 (01:08:22):
So if the Chiefs didn't have as big of an
issue at offensive line, well, the Texas. I think the
bigger issue is protecting quarterback.

Speaker 2 (01:08:28):
I think c J.

Speaker 5 (01:08:29):
Stroud lost his mojo because he didn't trust his offensive line.
And to Ross's point too, I mean that's where you
go younger and cheaper is at the skills for the
reason that he just mentioned. Because you've got CJ coming
up that you're going to have to extend. You've got
Willie Anderson junior, You're probably gonna have to do Derek
Stingley junior this offseason. So soon enough you'd be getting
into hard decision territory in terms of, oh, man, we had.

Speaker 2 (01:08:53):
To cut that guy. That sucks.

Speaker 5 (01:08:54):
Yeah, I'd just say it all needs to be addressed.
If they took a wide receiver at twenty five, it
wouldn't be Now. I just would prefer them going offensive lineman.
I would prefer as well.

Speaker 2 (01:09:03):
It's of course, stay true to the board, Nick Casario, No,
that was actually that was Rick Smith that one. You
just did it true to the board. Okay, well, next
day and true to his board too. Yeah, he does
love his dreams. Loved their board. Rick loved his board
more than anybody else's loved. His first round board was
always great. Yeah, second round board was so much Brandon Harris, Hey,
come on, God through the Sam Montgomery's and the Brennan

(01:09:26):
williams Is of the world. We have to go through those.
Was that receiver that broke down multiple times before going
to Miami, and then we broke down there? Helped me
out receiver.

Speaker 5 (01:09:36):
Oh you're talking about will uh well, well Fisher, No, no,
we'll Fuller, We'll Fuller Fuller.

Speaker 2 (01:09:40):
Yeah, but I don't know what happened to him, By
the way, was Fuller a Brian Gain.

Speaker 5 (01:09:47):
Will Fuller is only thirty and he's been out of
the league for four years.

Speaker 2 (01:09:51):
Will Fuller serving Cuban sandwiches in Miami.

Speaker 5 (01:09:53):
He also got Yeah, he got ped suspension right then
he broke down. Yeah, text, I'm not a great run
with receivers that are breaking down. Digs Fuller, Dell, Hey,
Dell was a freak accident to Sharrow.

Speaker 2 (01:10:12):
I know so all he had to run into his knee.

Speaker 4 (01:10:15):
Man.

Speaker 5 (01:10:15):
Yeah, then for whatever reason, they had him blocking a
defensive end on the goal.

Speaker 2 (01:10:19):
One m it's a bad mistakes happened. Would you like tell?

Speaker 5 (01:10:23):
Would you like to tell somebody to shut their bow

like no ours was. My room was way too hot.

(01:11:21):
It's seventy four and felt good.

Speaker 2 (01:11:23):
Are you serious?

Speaker 5 (01:11:24):
It was like having a warm fing in there. And
I finally had to get venty four. I finally had
to get up and kick on the AC Well, yeah,
it was seventy two and.

Speaker 2 (01:11:33):
That was too much.

Speaker 5 (01:11:34):
Don't have as much body faed as I used to.
I need to keep myself warm. Okay, cuddle up. You

Speaker 4 (01:11:41):
Number on you.

Speaker 5 (01:11:41):
Seven one three two one two five seven out seven

life is irritating the hell out of your ross. Okay,
you tell them to shut their bumb asses up here
on the Matt Thomas Show at.

Speaker 2 (01:11:53):
Ross as up man.

Speaker 5 (01:11:55):
And then let's say somebody is telling you about how
difficult they're alive is where they couldn't get to the office,
so they couldn't get to this, they couldn't go shop,
and they couldn't go to the store because of the ice.
When the entire city told you to sit down and
relax and stay home with your family for a couple
of days, you can say any nobody got.

Speaker 2 (01:12:12):
Time for that either.

Speaker 5 (01:12:14):
Dan, you are a guest of the show today, would
you like to go first on shut your ball mass up?

Speaker 7 (01:12:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:12:18):
I mean this one's gonna be a personal one because well,
my fiance fell into this. She was legit depressed for
the less than twenty four hours that the popular social
media medium TikTok.

Speaker 2 (01:12:31):
Was shut down. So Megan with love, I say.

Speaker 5 (01:12:37):
That is that is, by the way, one of your
best works ever, because you're not married to her yet
and if you're gonna have relations, it's gonna probably be
with her the rest of your life. And you've put
yourself in serious danger.

Speaker 4 (01:12:47):
Hey.

Speaker 5 (01:12:47):
You know how like people say no disrespect or no offense,
I means somebody's about to be disrespectab or offended. With love,
it's in the same category. It's not offensive as long
as you preface right. Uh to Channel eleven. You spent
all day yesterday every channel at the damn Miller Park

(01:13:08):
going down the ski slopes when you could have put
on the Young Darrestles and god, so.

Speaker 2 (01:13:13):
The Channel eleven. Ain't nobody got time your your ski
slope coverage. Ain't nobody got time? Hey, I'd rather have
ski slope coverage and stupid uh soap operas. Shut Jobo
mess up?

Speaker 4 (01:13:24):
What man?

Speaker 2 (01:13:27):
If Phyllis is gonna hook up a billy again, I
gotta know about it, So shut your bom mess up.
Philips is gonna hook up with Billy again?

Speaker 8 (01:13:33):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:13:33):
Shot Tobam mass up Man, I mean, we gotta.

Speaker 5 (01:13:36):
Find if we gotta find who out who is kidnapped?
Sharing Poor Nick's worried about this. We don't need endless coverage.
It's cold outside, bur, don't go on the streets.

Speaker 3 (01:13:46):
Bur.

Speaker 5 (01:13:47):
Then Zach from Khou and Sherman show, they finally wanted
to the record of the news journalist. Let's get on
one of these slides. I want to hear you tell
Sherman Chow shut her up. No, Sherman and I are close.
She's very nice, Ross, very nice.

Speaker 8 (01:14:05):
I know.

Speaker 5 (01:14:05):
That's why I wanted Mad to say. It'd be not
doing I'm not telling her that telling the news director
to shut his bumb ass up. Though in the ifb hey, hey,
get a tube, go down the hill.

Speaker 2 (01:14:17):
Yeah, I guess so.

Speaker 5 (01:14:18):
By the way, Jim Cantori, Oh, I offered you, I
got you a chance to get you on the floor
to and I for the Rockets Cavaliers, and you don't
even respond.

Speaker 2 (01:14:28):
Ain't nobody got time for that, Jim CANTOORI nobody got
to guess what I'm gonna do next time I see
you on stump coverage. I almost say I'm gonna look
at the TV I'm gonna say, Jim Cantoory, shut your
bumb ass on that. I'm gonna go to the one anonymous.

Speaker 5 (01:14:43):
AA writer who did not vote for Ichi ro Suzuki
for the Hall of Fame ten time Gold Glover ten.

Speaker 2 (01:14:50):
I think it's a ten time All Star, two time
batting Champion, MVP Rookie of the Year.

Speaker 5 (01:14:55):
Shut j obumass up, shit Jo bum ass up man
to manage League Baseball for allowing the cranky ass baseball
writers to only have a vote.

Speaker 2 (01:15:03):
Shut your bumass up.

Speaker 5 (01:15:06):
You can tell me that the respected television broadcasters that
broadcast these games, the Brian Anderson's, the Joe Davis's, the
John Smoltz can't have a vote. Would you call the
cranky guy from the Rochester Gazette gets a vote?

Speaker 2 (01:15:20):
Nobody got time for that.

Speaker 5 (01:15:22):
Yeah, I would say the play by play guys who
call one hundred and sixty two games and see every team,
you should definitely, and the color guys that are with them,
definitely they should have vote. Finn Scully and Mile Hamilton
never voted for anybody in the Hall of Fame. That's atrocious.
Per our conversation last night, Matt, I mean, you know,
maybe just go with the Heisman Trophy voting way, because
I mean, seemingly everybody gets one.

Speaker 2 (01:15:43):
So hey, nobody got it. Open it up. Don't want
the cranky baseball writers.

Speaker 4 (01:15:48):
Now.

Speaker 5 (01:15:48):
Thankfully they've allowed some MLB writers to get in. Like
people used to work for MLB dot Com could not vote,
I think they really can.

Speaker 2 (01:15:54):
So does tags vote? I guess he does?

Speaker 4 (01:15:58):
Does he?

Speaker 2 (01:15:59):
Okay? I don't. I didn't have answer for that.

Speaker 5 (01:16:00):
I think he does because I think he put on
his He put his ballot out once, and some people
on Twitter weren't happy with him. I think imagine people
on Twitter not happy with something. Okay, that seems fair?
Seven one three two one two five seven on and
we go to Aggie Land one one.

Speaker 2 (01:16:15):
What's the matter with you?

Speaker 9 (01:16:18):
Hey, good morning, guys.

Speaker 2 (01:16:19):
I love the show.

Speaker 9 (01:16:21):
I've been holding half the football season. Whenever you're losing
by three touchdowns and you happen to catch or run
for a first down, quit jumping up and pointing first down.

Speaker 1 (01:16:35):
You're losing.

Speaker 2 (01:16:36):
You're doing your job. Stop it. Bless you.

Speaker 5 (01:16:40):
Everybody get one. I've said that myself, but thank you
for backing me up on that. A few weeks later,
it's an I'm so annoyed with the damn first down
catch and run. Just give the ball the official and
get back to your spot. Correct, Thank you one, thank
you one.

Speaker 2 (01:16:57):
Bless you. That was great.

Speaker 5 (01:16:58):
Yeah, they ROSSI, they do it every single time. It's
so annoying, single, so annoying. They're trying to have fun
on the football field playing a game.

Speaker 2 (01:17:05):
Stupid. Oh it's so bad. Fun is celebrating a touchdown.
I'll get off your lawn too. Oh whatever, I'm down
thirty one to two to the Ravens.

Speaker 8 (01:17:16):
I got it.

Speaker 5 (01:17:17):
First down, first down here. Yeah, you don't get back
to the huddle and get and get going here. Ross
is the same in baseball. You're down seventy to two,
don't pimp a home run?

Speaker 2 (01:17:25):
You can do that too, Why not? So what what's
that bug all over the fence? Baby? What's his first down?
You gotta get the team riled up now.

Speaker 5 (01:17:35):
You don't down seventy two in your ass, kid, sit,
go get in the club, go, get in the clubhouse,
rally down and relax, rallying the troops.

Speaker 2 (01:17:44):
Baby, Oh my god.

Speaker 5 (01:17:46):
Yeah, solo home run to make it seventy three. The
pitcher just says, can I have the ball. People don't
pimp those normally. That's happened in the in the dugout.
They are now Luis val Boyna did he would pimp
a single to left?

Speaker 2 (01:17:57):
May you rest? May he rest? Seriously? Oh I'm down
thirty seven to nineteen. I don't think I'll put my
hand up in the air first down. Great. How about
the four previous drops you had? You didn't do that?
That's that to do ross.

Speaker 5 (01:18:12):
If you drop a football, you should take your left hand,
right hand, bounce them up and down like you're bouncing
these things.

Speaker 2 (01:18:18):
Boom boom boom. That's bouncing what things?

Speaker 1 (01:18:20):
You know?

Speaker 2 (01:18:20):
Football? If a rotation, that's what you do. Look at this,
let's see what I'm doing.

Speaker 5 (01:18:26):
I don't know what you're down. What you're doing with
your left hand up, your right hand down? Up down,
up down, up down. That's that's a bobble.

Speaker 2 (01:18:33):
You don't do that.

Speaker 5 (01:18:34):
Well, Defensive backs do it, even if they didn't necessarily
break up the pass and do the shit.

Speaker 1 (01:18:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:18:40):
Oh when the flag comes out for the pass interference,
Oh we got do that. No, no, you pass interference
and the hands go out?

Speaker 2 (01:18:46):
Man, what are you doing?

Speaker 5 (01:18:48):
Or like when yes, somebody gets a sack and they
do a they're a hole, they do like a full
thirty second sack dance. And then it happened to be
off sides on the other defensive end or up. Then
why would you talk about Antonio Smith that way?

Speaker 4 (01:18:58):
Hey?

Speaker 5 (01:18:58):
Oh, that was one of our first gatories obligatory not wheah,
Yeah it was. It was back of the day, right,
Antonio Smith offside? It's called it was a jazzy yes.

Speaker 2 (01:19:08):
Now, if you have any other shut your ball asses up.
Let's hear from you right now.

Speaker 5 (01:19:11):
We got another segment to get to at seven one three,
two one two five seven ninety Remember our man one
was holding that back for weeks. Don't hold back on this,
let it out and make you feel so much better.
Shut your ball mass up? Anybody got time for that?
Seven one three two one two five seven ninety.

Speaker 8 (01:19:27):
More Matt Thomas Show with Ross now on Sports Talk seven.

Speaker 5 (01:19:32):
Ninety all right, if you more to get to, ain't
nobody got time for that? Shut your bomb ass up?
To CBS? Did Drew Barrymore, who I have secretly had
a rush on for twenty years. You rule in the
Hollywood squares. It's not funny like it's over produced.

Speaker 2 (01:19:52):
Was it on before?

Speaker 5 (01:19:53):
Let's had various different reincarnations. Had you had this, Bruce
Falance still on it? No, Bruce Falanch not on this?
When you had one, had will Be Goldberg in the
Center Square?

Speaker 2 (01:20:02):
That was okay.

Speaker 5 (01:20:02):
I used to watch that back in the day. The
bat the best one of all time was the original
hauled in in the Center Square. One of the funniest
human beings alive. May he rest, I'll take your word
for it. And they had another version with Joan Rivers
in the Center Square back and then after shortly after that.
But this new version, no, thank you, You'll be canceled
before sooner enough so anybody got time for the new
version of the Hollywood Square?

Speaker 2 (01:20:22):
Nobody?

Speaker 5 (01:20:23):
No big game show guy. I used to watch the
tom bergdron version back in the day. You think I
loved it. I mean it was like in high school.
I was watching it after school. Yeah, just certain hotels
that don't have certain channels available because it's scrambled the
satellite bulledouts.

Speaker 2 (01:20:41):
Yeah, hey, nobody get tap it. I just wanted to
watch the tiger Woods little you know, indoor golf. No,
they don't even have the pay per view skin Imax
for Matt. He was very upset.

Speaker 5 (01:20:50):
Hey last channel, the last channel I try to scramble
was I think the Playboy channel in nineteen eighty six.
I thought you were a spice guy. I don't even
know what that is ross AnyWho, AnyWho?

Speaker 2 (01:21:08):
That's seven three.

Speaker 5 (01:21:11):
That the hotel was very nice, but it's that's the
second time I've been there for weather purposes and it's
had the channel problems. You know what they're doing these
these hotels are using Wi Fi for TV.

Speaker 2 (01:21:21):
Is quite nice. Yeah, but if you can't get ries,
we're in.

Speaker 5 (01:21:24):
It's not on pook Slider her Clubs though, fantastic. Yeah,
Acarni and cheese shout out. I felt I felt the
baked beans this morning. All right, Nobody needed to know that.
Not a single person on the planet needed to know
that you broadcast it on air. I did seven one
three two one two five seven eight.

Speaker 2 (01:21:41):
Anything else? Uh, weather covers are taken care of airports closing.
That's not a show. That was a good idea. Let's
see here, anything else that has bothered me in the
last few If it's hard to be relatively bothered about
anything when we had weather to deal with the ice
I love the snow.

Speaker 5 (01:22:01):
People enjoy the snow. That was that was the most
important thing. We've had very few actions. Was you know
what a a reverse Yeah. See, that's what we got
to do, the blessings to you segment. So next week
we will do blessings to you. Okay, right that I
do have time for that. We do have time for that.

Speaker 2 (01:22:21):
I'll text it to Connor. Is he talking to be
with us? Is he all right? Is he gonna be
out for another week?

Speaker 7 (01:22:26):
No?

Speaker 2 (01:22:26):
Hey, tomorrow. I mean, maybe he's scared. Maybe he wants
some man to take one more day to just be
precaution another day. I don't think he all of a
sudden developed agoraphobia. It's fine, all right, that is, shut
your bomb ass up, and ain't nobody got time for that.

Speaker 4 (01:22:38):
Today?

Speaker 2 (01:22:38):
We got the news at noon.

Speaker 5 (01:22:39):
Coming up at about six minutes from now, we have
an intriguing basketball game tonight. This is the thirty six
and six Cavaliers come in. Is the NBA ready ross
for the Cavaliers via Oklahoma City, potential NBA Finals. I
don't think Commission or Silver is rooting for that, or well,
that'll be calls wink wink, that will favor the Boston Celtics.

Speaker 2 (01:22:57):
I tell you it'd be a great finals. America. Probably
you wouldn't pay attention, but that'd be a great finals.

Speaker 5 (01:23:02):
We as basketball diehards would But the rest of America
be like that's something. Yeah, we're good. It's like, who's
the NFL rooting for? I had Chiefs or Bills either way,
honest with probably Chiefs. I was about to tell you
Taylor the Taylor effect. They want the Chiefs, they want
the Chiefs, and then Chiefs Eagles.

Speaker 2 (01:23:18):
Did you see who Taylor Swift was hanging out with
on Saturday? No, I didn't. Kaitlyn Clark was in her box.
I did see that. Good for her.

Speaker 5 (01:23:31):
Kaitlyn Clark gets an email or a phone call, Taylor
Swift wants you in her private box.

Speaker 4 (01:23:37):
For the game.

Speaker 5 (01:23:37):
She's a Chief fan anyways, right she was. She's from Iowa,
so I would assume she's got to be. Yeah, that's
the closest team there. Oh no, I thought you know
she was a Colts fan. Did she have a Peyton
Manning jersey or something?

Speaker 4 (01:23:47):
We did?

Speaker 2 (01:23:47):
We did or not she did that?

Speaker 5 (01:23:50):
Because she's not a part of the Indiana fever. She
probably moved on. Uh no, I have to believe it
or not? Okay, isn't she too young to be a
Peyton Manning Colts fan.

Speaker 2 (01:23:58):
I don't know. Let me go back to the leave
it or not? I wrote on February of last year.

Speaker 5 (01:24:04):
She is from Des Moines, Iowa. King Clark was a
huge Peyton Manning fan growing up and had a Colt's
number eighteen Jersey Believe as a bullet.

Speaker 2 (01:24:12):
Wow. And then she goes to place with the Indiana Fever.
Ironically enough. Yeah, by the way, they're building a seventy
six million dollar practice facility for the Indiana Fever. What
in Indianapolis? What seventy six? I don't know where that
number came up from, but that's what it is. Wow.

Speaker 5 (01:24:29):
What's the salary cap situation in the WNBA? Can they
free spend because the Fever are going to have all
the cash?

Speaker 2 (01:24:36):
It's like they're the Yankees of the WNBA.

Speaker 5 (01:24:38):
They're the ones making Clark Actually the Dodgers. Yeah, the Dodgers, right.
Both the Dodger memes out there this in the last
week or so have been so good.

Speaker 2 (01:24:47):
I haven't heard it. Has Jeff Passing still been bending
at the knee for the Dodgers.

Speaker 5 (01:24:53):
Blank gobbling. Did I see they got Kirby Yates yesterday? Yeah,
if there's any free agent left like Bregman's going the
Dodgers to The Dodgers apparently are petitioning to manor League
Baseball to carry a thirty five man roster because they
can afford it. A ten man lineup, two dhs with
Bregman as one of them. Yeah, and having multiple third

(01:25:15):
basement on the field at one time seems unfair.

Speaker 2 (01:25:18):
But Rob Manfit said he's gonna let it slide. Do
you think now?

Speaker 5 (01:25:21):
Granted we know the Astros are the most hated team
in baseball still because of all the things. No, it's
gotta be the Dodgers down. But the Dodgers are growing,
are gaining steam on this right, I think so? Because
aren't wouldn't you, as if you're a baseball fan, wouldn't
you want to root for the team that all they
did was spend money?

Speaker 2 (01:25:37):
They just out pocketed use what they did. Yeah, it'll
be interesting. When's the next CBA up?

Speaker 5 (01:25:42):
Although, who is the kid that signed with the left
hander that just signed last week with the Dodgers, what's
his name? The Toronto wanted him to so wanted what's
his name? It was Tanner Scott. Yeah, Tanner Scott. Didn't
Tanner Scott get better offers other places?

Speaker 2 (01:26:01):
I don't. I think somebody. I think the Blue Jays
we're going to give him some sort of additional dollars.
It's the second off season for the Blue Jays where
it's like, hey, we've got tons of money. Yeah, that's
I know.

Speaker 5 (01:26:11):
It was just because I kept seeing these tweets saying,
how does it feel to a finish in second place again?

Speaker 2 (01:26:16):
The same team again?

Speaker 5 (01:26:18):
Toronto's not a bad place to play baseball. They got
great fans, now is it? Does the money situation txes
are bad? I think Corbin Burns went to Arizona because
the taxes in the Blue Jays are so bad.

Speaker 2 (01:26:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:26:30):
I don't know what it is, but I can tell
you that if you win Toronto fans will be there.
But there's a big and I don't know if it's
the travel is a big hass on it. I know
it's my The only thing I don't like going to
Toronto for the Rockets is the fact that the whole
the the passport stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:26:47):
Going with the customs is a pain in the ass. Oh,
mine expires this year.

Speaker 4 (01:26:52):
I got again.

Speaker 2 (01:26:52):
I think mine's expires next June. I can get mine.
You want to go together? Yeah, let's yeah, we can.
I think I think you can do it online.

Speaker 5 (01:26:58):
We can lock arms and skin to the office MT
Show with Ross uh live, take pictures, tip to the
Federal Building.

Speaker 2 (01:27:06):
Love it? Have you got your.

Speaker 6 (01:27:09):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (01:27:10):
What do you call it? The TSA pre check? Then? No,
go to the post office for that? Yeah, Kim and
Kim and Carly got one. How much does that cost?
Like eighty five dollars for five or six years? Easy?
Spent money spent? Okay, Yeah, sometimes the pre check line
is long. Pre check is longer sometimes, but more time
is not. Now Apparently, if you're real travel saying savvy,
you will do the TSA pre with clear.

Speaker 5 (01:27:30):
But no, that clear costs too much. Clear as clear
as very is. But again there's that line is very,
very small.

Speaker 2 (01:27:36):
All right.

Speaker 5 (01:27:36):

Speaker 2 (01:28:55):
Sports Talk seven. Hout ee. What's happening in lunch timers.

Speaker 5 (01:28:58):
This is our three the Matt to Time much Hill
with Ross here on Sports Talk seven Nighty.

Speaker 2 (01:29:04):
Wagner gets to strike out.

Speaker 3 (01:29:07):
That's why he just kept puffing fastball after fastball.

Speaker 2 (01:29:10):
At the sign of finally meet him of one hundred
mile an hour heater out over the outside corner.

Speaker 3 (01:29:22):
Bagwell to work her of the house. Unknown hitterer for
the Astros with six different pitchers combining their first ever
win in Yankee Stadium when their starter Roy Oswald butn't
make it one.

Speaker 2 (01:29:41):
Hitter into the second inning left with an injury.

Speaker 4 (01:29:49):
Oh yeah, but Dan, we'll have to throw down the
first two up and.

Speaker 2 (01:29:54):
Two down, airing it out tonight. One from four hundred changes,
there do it?

Speaker 3 (01:30:09):
Man?

Speaker 2 (01:30:09):
Did he do it in style? All right? Twelve six?
It is a Matt Thomas Show with Ross. Would you
want an entrance song. What do you do for this show?
We have one?

Speaker 5 (01:30:21):
Yeah, but you have the intro. Yeah, we have that one.
That's that's been that from twenty ten. For the most part,
I think would you But a lot of players changers
up and down a lot.

Speaker 2 (01:30:31):
Yeah. I think it's consistencies everything.

Speaker 5 (01:30:35):
Why hmm? What if Bregman changes is a lot. If
he's in a slump, he'll he'll switch it up.

Speaker 4 (01:30:42):
See.

Speaker 5 (01:30:42):
I would want to be identified with one song. Oh, okay, okay, yeah,
I don't know. There's not much to comment on. When
you hear big Time, when you hear you know, you
think of me.

Speaker 2 (01:30:55):
M okay. When I hear nil saidak got laughing in
the rain, I think, oh that's terrible. Ladies and gentlemen,
twelve o six, it is the Matt thomashell Ross And
this time every day we gave you the big headlines
of the very busy world of sports. We present to
you the news at noon.

Speaker 5 (01:31:15):
No didn't tay where it was Matt, so we played
the Billy Wagner highlights to open up this segment, and
he does headline.

Speaker 2 (01:31:26):
News at noon.

Speaker 5 (01:31:28):
Interestingly enough, Matt on the first year of the ballot
and this will be a believe it or not question
coming up later on the show.

Speaker 2 (01:31:34):
So you're welcome.

Speaker 5 (01:31:35):
Ten point five percent of the vote in twenty sixteen.
It actually went down from there to ten point two
percent in twenty seventeen, then continuously climbed up to last
year's seventy four percent, and then this year eighty two
and a half percent for Billy Wagner. So ninety percent

(01:31:55):
of the voters didn't think he deserved it. Ten years ago,
only seventeen and a half percent of the voters voting
against him this year. Would you, if you had to vote,
would you be one of those guys to say, if
I've got to only pick ten, I do like Billy Wagner,
but I feel like I need to wait a while

(01:32:15):
because I've got ten people in front of him.

Speaker 2 (01:32:18):
Is that the reason why you would do it, or
all of a.

Speaker 5 (01:32:20):
Sudden you just feel guilty and going, well, this group
of twenty twenty five is not great. I'll sneak him in.
Is like, because just because you're allowed to put ten in,
I don't think you have to.

Speaker 2 (01:32:29):
Put ten in.

Speaker 8 (01:32:30):
Yeah, I.

Speaker 4 (01:32:32):
Think.

Speaker 2 (01:32:33):
I mean I would have voted him in. I was
on the fit to me. He's a borderline case. I mean,
very very good case.

Speaker 5 (01:32:38):
But if you want to discount relievers with the old
they are failed starters narrative and can't be as impactful
long term as a starter or an everyday position player.
I buy that, But also as relievers go, Billy Wagner,
you look at the numbers we talked about earlier, the era,
plus the strikeout ratio and stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (01:32:57):
He I think.

Speaker 5 (01:32:59):
Deserving nod for him this year. Here's the reality of it.
When you and I were growing up, and we grew
up at different times, the Hall of Fame was the
most un no doubt about, no wiggle room, no debating
on radio or TV shows or newspaper columns. Either you

(01:33:19):
were the greatest of the great or you didn't get in.
And we're seeing a trend in Baseball's Hall of Fame,
in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and I don't
even count the basketball from beause anybody in their.

Speaker 2 (01:33:30):
Mothers in the basketball. Everybody's in there.

Speaker 5 (01:33:32):
It The requirements to enter such halls are not nearly
as stringent as they were, say fifteen or twenty years ago.
With that Matt getting eighty six point eight percent of
the vote see C. Sabbathia. Would you say a deserving recipient.

Speaker 2 (01:33:46):
Of the Hall of Fame honor? One time Cy Young
Award winner, six time All Star, also won the two
thousand and nine World Series with the Yankees. All right,
let me ask you this one question. Did he win
two hundred games and fifty one in nineteen years?

Speaker 5 (01:34:03):
So of all the things you just described in the
world of baseball where getting victories is.

Speaker 2 (01:34:11):
Not nearly as easy as.

Speaker 5 (01:34:12):
It was, say, years ago, it is an overrated stat
to me, wins and losses, No, because I think it
goes to appearances and how long you've been able to
do it, for longevity, longevity, So I would not say
it's overeight. I think it's properly rated. It's overrated. I
would say three hundred used to be the automatic. Maybe

(01:34:32):
now in twenty twenty five, two fifties the automatic. So
I think based on the two fifty number, not only
did he get in ross, but he got in rather comfortably.
In nineteen years. He had one Cy Young Award and
a fourth place, two fourth place, a third and a fifth.

Speaker 2 (01:34:52):
So he finished top five five times with one win.
I'm gonna tell you and again, don't hate me for it.
I'm not gonna hate you. But when you get three.

Speaker 5 (01:35:05):
Thousand hits, you automatically get in. When you get to
two hundred and fifty wins, you probably automatically get in.
He wouldn't have gotten my vote. Something sabath to me.
When I think about it, I think, good, really, really
really good?

Speaker 2 (01:35:20):
Is he? Is he winning a Game seven of the
World Series?

Speaker 4 (01:35:23):
For me?

Speaker 2 (01:35:23):
Probably not?

Speaker 5 (01:35:24):
Hall of Fame picture should be for a long stretch.
You looked at you know, we do this all ways
in baseball, look at the probable pictures. What's the mound
matchup today? Like, all right, we're losing this one. Yeah,
wouldn't feel like that was when Rady Johnson pitched. Yeah,
like you were gonna lose. You're like, we're taking the
all of the day.

Speaker 2 (01:35:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:35:40):
Or how about this you get, you get, you get,
your pitcher gives up one run in the first ending,
You're like, all right, they're lost, this game's over. Greg Maddox, Yeah, exactly,
no doubt Roder Clemens will get in by that point,
is Roger Clemens?

Speaker 2 (01:35:52):
You were gonna take the yell on that.

Speaker 5 (01:35:53):
There either needs to be like an extra Hall of
Fame like Hall of Fame plus or something like that
where we could put the other guys in, because exactly right, C. C.
Sabathia and Pedro Martinez are not of the same existence.

Speaker 2 (01:36:07):
I have the perfect analogy. Oh, here we go, and
when you hear it.

Speaker 5 (01:36:11):
You'll applaud me, because you're like, I'm ready to stand
up and applaud. There are players that are very good,
but you're gonna sit and coach. Sorry, it's what it is. Okay,
you have the next layer of players. I knew you
were gonna go here. Actually, that should get economy plus seats. C.

(01:36:32):
Sabathi is an economy plus passenger. There's only very few
people that should hit in the first class. Yeah, so
Csabathi is the economy plus a baseball pitcher. I think
when Bill Simmons wrote his basketball book he called it
the pantheon. And then there's like the top top top
of the top sea. Bathy is not there, but you
put them behind the velvet rope.

Speaker 2 (01:36:51):
That's fine.

Speaker 5 (01:36:52):
I'm not calling this in a tro Did you let
my analogy? I think it was good, Matt, Thank you, proudy.
I'm so rare that you would say something nice about analogy.
One single person did not vote for each euro Suzuki
one MVP and Rookie of the Year at this in
the same in the same year, ten time All Star,
ten time goal glover, three times Silver Slugger, two time
battling titleist, batting titleist, and somebody said, by the way,

(01:37:14):
over three thousand hits and did not did not hit
the Major league till he was twenty seven and oh,
by the way, he got three thousand. A leadoff guy
for the ultimate winner take all game. Each Roszuki is
my leadoff guy him?

Speaker 2 (01:37:28):
Ricky?

Speaker 4 (01:37:29):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:37:29):
Who else is in my leadoff spot? Josel two two way?

Speaker 5 (01:37:33):
Uh, Craig Bizio maybe middle of his career, one of
the ultimate leadoff guys.

Speaker 2 (01:37:41):
I think of each row and Ricky Henderson to me,
I like that?

Speaker 4 (01:37:44):
All right?

Speaker 2 (01:37:45):
What else is going on in the news? At noon?

Speaker 5 (01:37:47):
You ask, man, how about your Houston Rockets taking on
the Cleveland Cavaliers and a clash of Titans in the NBA,
the team with the best record in the league in
town to take on the Rockets every game important down
the stretch mat the Rockets just half game ahead of
the Grizzlies, although you do have the tiebreaker, but just
one and a half games ahead of the Nuggets. As well,

(01:38:09):
four and a half games is the cushion for the
top six, so you don't have to play in the play.
I'm worried about the Nuggets. I'm worried about the Grizzlies.
Period into story. Now, the Rockets will have the tiebreaker
over the Grizzlies have won three matchups agoin one more
next week. They already have one win against Denver. They'll
play them two times, remaining once in Houston. I think

(01:38:30):
both games actually in Houston, so you split one of those.
You want to start winning tire bregers. Because of those
three teams, it could be a mad scrabble for two, three,
four in the West. And you're not gonna have to
worry about the MAVs, especially with their most recent news.
Oh get it, tell them Derek Lively out two to
three months according to Shams. Wow, they still don't sure.

(01:38:50):
They're a hot mess of injuries right now, very likely
to make the playing game. Health matters, and they are
not healthy. Although Kyrie Irving has been playing, they lost
to the Hornets. Well, the Hornets have been played better,
but anything else, Oh that's different. I'm all disturbed. It's
two straight days of Dan not being able to find
the news at noon music. That's okay, Matt, don't worry
about it. Snow days like communication among people in the company.

(01:39:14):
Have it in a certain place. That's breaking news, bed Yeah, yeah,
it's not breaking news. It's news, news and news, okay.
Twelve fifteen Sports Talk seven hoy Ema a Doka joins
us in forty five minutes seven one three two one

Did you hear the latest rumors about the Dallas Cowboys

(01:39:37):
coaching situation? We'll discuss that coming up in a minute.
Right now, A word for Uptown Appliance Repair. Could you
imagine if your appliances weren't working today, how you would
have had to just be so miserable without having a
washer dry that worked, or the refrigerator or an ice
maker or.

Speaker 2 (01:39:57):
Microwave of it. Whatever.

Speaker 5 (01:39:58):
You need these things replace, you need them fixed. You
don't want to replace them every single time you want them,
You want them repaired. And that's why Uptown Appliants Repair
is the place to go. The website is Uptown Appliance

to go spend thousands of dollars on brand new appliances.
They simply call two eight one seven, five eight nine

you the premiere Appliance Professionals in Houston, and they are

Speaker 8 (01:41:03):
Back to Matt Thomas and Ross Viial fine on Sports
Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 5 (01:41:09):
So the Dallas Cowboys are still searching for their head coach.
Robert Salah got a look Brian Schottenheimer, their offensive coordinator,
apparently is gaining some steam as potentially a head coach there.
He was their offensive assistant two years ago. He's been
well traveled in the NFL circus.

Speaker 2 (01:41:29):
Yes, and it feels like Dallas Cowboy fan note overly
thrilled about the fact that Brian Schottenheimer would be the
head coach because it would once again label this as
a guy that would be a yes man to his
general manager, Jerry Jones.

Speaker 4 (01:41:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:41:42):
I think we've pretty much figured out by the number
of people that have been in that position that you
have if Jerry Jones is your boss, there is not
going to be really a lot of give and take.
It's going to be what Jerry wants and you have
to give. You have to do with what Jerry gives you,
and there's not much flexibility. And the Jerry Jones remains
firm in control that franchise when he probably five or

(01:42:04):
ten years ago should have given up the general manager
spot to a real personnel guy.

Speaker 2 (01:42:08):
Uh, maybe thirty years ago should have given it up.
It's just crazy. I mean, I don't look you do.

Speaker 5 (01:42:17):
What is Jerry Jones's approval rating like among Cowboy fans?
Is it mostly everyone hates him? Or do most of
them say it's his team, we're close and they hate him.
They has to be hate The hate factor has to
be significantly high. They hate him when they first got
when he first got the team and he fired Tom Landry.

Speaker 2 (01:42:33):
Then they won the Super Bowls and they.

Speaker 5 (01:42:35):
Loved him, and they hated him with Jarrett when Jimmy
Johnson didn't got sid raise and they still won with
Barry Switzer. Yes, it's been thirty years of ever since then,
of just mediocrity. They're the only team in the NFC
Championship excuse me, never to win it, never go to
the championship game since they wanted the Super Bowls.

Speaker 2 (01:42:53):
So we're talking about mid nineties.

Speaker 5 (01:42:54):
He's basically like a drug addict hating his drug dealer
because they're addicted to the and the other person is
a person they don't like for that reason, but they
can't stop.

Speaker 2 (01:43:12):
Who's the drug dealer? Yeah, I'm trying to figure that
one out.

Speaker 5 (01:43:14):
In this scenario, it would be Jerry Jones because I
mean they can't stop.

Speaker 2 (01:43:18):
Watching the Cowboys. You want more crap? I mean, think
about it.

Speaker 5 (01:43:24):
It's the same. I've said that there is a cycle
of Cowboys fandom. At twelve o'clock, it's training camp. You're
feeling really good about the season. Yes, get to three o'clock,
maybe there's a little bit of a loll Six o'clock,
you know, it's not great. And then nine o'clock is
they get a huge Sunday night football win, and then
they lose in the playoffs and it starts all over again.

Speaker 2 (01:43:43):
And then the whole time you're hiding a butterfly knife
in your jeorts. How you doing over there, Matt?

Speaker 5 (01:43:55):
I'm perplexed by both of you. Frankly at this point,
do you want a movie reference? As long as you
play the ding?

Speaker 2 (01:44:02):
Yes, I've got the ding.

Speaker 5 (01:44:07):
Whoever the head coach is for the Cowboys is basically
Kevin Pollock's character in Casino. Okay, he just does what
he's told. Yeah, yep, Now that I can understand. The

(01:44:29):
whole alarm clock thing I didn't get and the butter
knife thing I didn't get either. Butterfly knife I didn't
have that one. I'm not playing place playing blame on.
You mean Cowboys fans like to wear joints in their criminals?
What's the how's that flying over your head? They are

(01:44:50):
the number one fan base in sports for what for
television ratings?

Speaker 2 (01:44:54):
Criminal activity? You put on, it's probably Raiders fans. Well,
it used to be Oakland Raiders fans. Now I don't know.
I don't think.

Speaker 5 (01:44:59):
Do you think Lost ve Guess Raider fans nearly has some?
I think there are real Las Vegas Raider fans. That's true,
there are.

Speaker 2 (01:45:04):
I went to a game, but you do have a
lot of people who drive over from California.

Speaker 5 (01:45:09):
Like if the if the Raider fan is no longer
than number one criminal fan base in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (01:45:13):
Who's number one now? Hmm? Eagle fans? Uh yeah? Egle
fans are like mister meanor guy. So that's true.

Speaker 5 (01:45:21):
Well, they're still still crime, the crime, the climb on poles.
I think forty fans have got a wine and cheese group.
They get a lot of scraps over there too. They're
the the fan base chant is Bang Bang Niner gang. Yeah,
they're in the Niner gang. Matt Okay Bill's mafia doesn't

(01:45:41):
get in the trouble. They're just the drunks at the party. Yeah,
they just they just overserved themselve they're more of a
criminal mischief setting stuff on fires. Fans just want to party. Yeah,
Green Bay fans will get in trouble. You just put
some food out in front of the ladies and they'll
get after it.

Speaker 2 (01:45:55):
What's that mhm.

Speaker 5 (01:45:57):
Green Bay fans they don't get into put a trough
of food in front of the ladies.

Speaker 2 (01:46:02):
That what you're saying, a lot of food in front
of their happy So you're calling them pigs. You put
a lot of brods out there. It's basically seeing their
people with high caloric diets, maybe some Miller high life
as well. Having lived in Minnesota, I know that's all about.
Trust me.

Speaker 5 (01:46:15):
I think we got to go Eagles fans. The Eagle
fans are gonna are gonna climb on poles. They're going
to oh oh, I know they're definitely gonna do. How
about the one Philadelphia fan that called the Green Bay
fan in front of him a sea word?

Speaker 2 (01:46:29):
Yes, lost his job, lost his job with the with
the DEEI of some sort. Yeah, that's who it is.
That's the biggest group of criminals. Right now.

Speaker 5 (01:46:38):
Are Eagle fans you know so much that I mean
they're not Eagle Well maybe they are Eagle fans, but
Justin Verlander flipped them off. Justin Verlander flipped off Eagle fans.
You flipped off Philly fans? Yeah, oh okay, so you're
just saying in general, Philadelphia fan. It became a popular
meme him getting off the bus and saying, hey, Philly,
what's up?

Speaker 2 (01:46:59):
Okay? Yeah number one. Yes, it's my least favorite city
to go to in the NBA.

Speaker 4 (01:47:04):
It just is.

Speaker 2 (01:47:07):
Food is good, the cheese stakes are wonderful.

Speaker 5 (01:47:10):
You don't even eat cheese steaks when you get other gether.
I got a place I can recommend for you there
next time. Yeah, Matt, need some recommendation I want to
take you.

Speaker 2 (01:47:17):
I don't.

Speaker 5 (01:47:17):
I've been to these places twenty five times. I am
zero need of recommendation.

Speaker 2 (01:47:21):
So yeah, come on, Matt. Nope, no recommend I don't
want any recommends many of y'all. No disrespect to any
of you.

Speaker 5 (01:47:29):
It's rescinded. All right, Fine, you don't want have some
some good local fair. This is place called ma Giano's
really good. Let me tell you where I go if
I want to find a tank.

Speaker 2 (01:47:38):
Was he in this town? I go to this place
and their bread stikes are good. Yes, and the salad
is endless as much as you'd like. Yeah, and when
you're there your family, Yes it is, it's yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:47:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:47:49):
I like to take a tour and they let me
bring a pasta home with me if I want to.
That's how good those people are. Twelve twenty eight Sports
Talk seven out of eight is the Matt Thomas Show
with Ross seven three two five seven.

Speaker 2 (01:48:00):
Untie, do you hear?

Speaker 5 (01:48:01):
Why I give the number out is because if I
don't hear from you, I have to talk to Ross
and to Dan. I love them like brothers. The hamster
came off the wheel for me on that one. I'll
I'll go ahead and hold my hand up for the foul.
I'm Dan Marley. In that reo, you said Marley never
objected to a foul call. He just said out, Yeah,

(01:48:22):
it was me. I appreciate yourself reporting seven one three
two one two five seven, Hounty, come in and join me,
at least join me, don't guys, I don't care about
backing it.

Speaker 11 (01:48:33):
Nice stream talking about frog baseball strike one.

Speaker 2 (01:48:38):
Hey, you dummies, listen to Astros baseball and Rockets basketball
games on any device with the free iHeart Radio app.

Speaker 1 (01:48:47):
Time.

Speaker 5 (01:48:47):
Now for Gordy to say the show, we'd have him
play the liner, but I don't think Dan knows where
that is because I couldn't find the news at noon liner.

Speaker 9 (01:48:53):
So God.

Speaker 5 (01:48:56):
Putting in the extra hours. Yeah this saw what do
we need one of these mics? I got your back,
dam damn. We love you up, you know, I'm just
teasing Dan show all right, all right, I'm here to
save the show now.

Speaker 2 (01:49:13):
Yeah, exactly. It is an idiocracy out there, right idiot?
Is that a word?

Speaker 6 (01:49:20):
I believe there's If you're all on the roads right now,
you have an IQ of below ten because it is
people like morons there.

Speaker 2 (01:49:27):
It's ice everywhere.

Speaker 6 (01:49:28):
It's it seems safe enough to drive, at least on
surface streets, but the interstates are still packed with what
we call black ice, which is frozen roads that you
can't see with your eyeballs. And I witnessed four accidents
coming in because people are morons.

Speaker 2 (01:49:43):
Slow the f down.

Speaker 6 (01:49:45):
No reason to be doing eighty on six ' ten
right now, you idiots get them, Gordy. And there's like
another rule. If you're a big the bigger the truck,
the faster you gotta go, doesn't matter if it's ice.
Oh yeah, and yeah you f one fifty with a
double cab and all this extra stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:50:03):
Florid, Buddy, Florid.

Speaker 5 (01:50:05):
I'm going to Tota Center for the Rockets game tonight
and I got to be there at five o'clock to
listen to coach and talk to him after this pregame interview.

Speaker 2 (01:50:12):
I'm leaving here at two five.

Speaker 5 (01:50:14):
I'm gonna take momro on to give myself two and
a half hours sleep in the garage.

Speaker 2 (01:50:19):
I'll do it.

Speaker 6 (01:50:19):
And if there's a car in front of you, slow down,
leaky exactly, that's right.

Speaker 5 (01:50:26):
So Guardy made it in. Yeah, I see people stopped up.
This is six ten and two eighty eight that live
Is that a live cam? No, it's from I don't know. Yeah,
it's an hour.

Speaker 6 (01:50:35):
It goes down the one lane and you but you
can clearly see the path that's been formed by other cars,
and so you just go in that. But have idiots
trying to pass me. They go on ice like okay, hey,
play stupid games, win stupid prices. Can't wait till your
car is crushed up against that wall like a moron,
and someone has to come save your life.

Speaker 2 (01:50:52):
Get these guardy drive bys are amazing. I love this mastery.
Like maybe it's just mat Maybe these kids these days
have never driven. Maybe you brought up in Houston and
you're eighteen, you've never driven on ice housing orlands handling things.
They canceled the Pelicans game time.

Speaker 6 (01:51:06):
Yeah, they were winter Wonderland. Still, my buddy sent me
video from Deston. Deston had snow. Never in a million
years would have thought that was possible.

Speaker 5 (01:51:15):
Yeah, and the once in one state this year a
hurricane in snow, well, actually two states, Texas and Florida.

Speaker 2 (01:51:22):
All right, real quicks, we got you here. I believe
that we got to talk about two things. He's your
college football game.

Speaker 5 (01:51:30):
I believe the college football National Championship Game should be
played the Friday night before the divisional playoff games.

Speaker 2 (01:51:37):
Agree or disagree?

Speaker 6 (01:51:38):
Yeah, the Monday the Monday thing was a debacle. And
it wasn't just it wasn't just being on a Monday,
but the fact it was Martin Luther King Day. You
had NBA games all day, you had the inauguration for
Donald Trump, you had all this stuff going on that
just had everybody else, and then we had here locally
and in the.

Speaker 2 (01:51:55):
South we were all worried about preparing for the winter weather.
But you could have that for any better part of
the country too.

Speaker 5 (01:52:00):
So I just think it's about sexiness and giving yourself
the front, the marquee, and you don't get the marque
when you just finished four games of NFL Divisional playoffs.

Speaker 6 (01:52:10):
Well, I think people have brought up taking that weekend
off of Army Navy. I think needs to be considered.
And there's there's a bunch of these purists who are like, no,
it's got to be its own weekend.

Speaker 2 (01:52:21):
It is Army Navy. I get all that we could
still play it and play the playoff games that week.

Speaker 5 (01:52:26):
It will be okay, Army Navy should be played in September,
early September, like the first, like week zero. Yeah, I
mean I don't I think I don't care where it is.
It's it's cute in December, but it's a throwaway weekend.

Speaker 2 (01:52:39):
But we took a week off before conference championship weekend
this year, Like that's stupid. Is all these weeks off? Yeah?

Speaker 6 (01:52:44):
Yeah, go play your conference championship and then let's play
playoff games the next weekend.

Speaker 4 (01:52:47):
All right?

Speaker 5 (01:52:48):
So uh yeah, I just think put it before the playoffs,
you get your chance to be the star.

Speaker 2 (01:52:53):
Now.

Speaker 5 (01:52:53):
Something I brought up earlier today and if you heard it,
uh Ross Dellinger, we don't like him, or we do
like him?

Speaker 2 (01:52:58):
How do you feel about some stuff wrong? He covered?
He was on the LSU beat for a while.

Speaker 5 (01:53:01):
He says, the SEC and the Big ten ads are
meeting where they would like to maybe push an agenda
of expanding the college football playoff from twelve to fourteen
teams and giving the SEC and the Big Ten four
automatic spots. The other two then the ACC and the
Big twelve would get two. So that's two four, eight, twelve.

(01:53:24):
Group of five would get the thirteenth spot, and then
one at large spot would get the fourteenth spot.

Speaker 2 (01:53:29):
When I tell you that, you say I don't like.

Speaker 6 (01:53:31):
It, but also take a step back and realize it's deserved.
I mean, it is the two premier conferences where the
best football is played. Look, I'm not I think twelve
is fine, but they said this from the get go,
before they even expanded to twelve. They said fourteen and
sixteen are in play and it's all about money. It's
more money, so let's do it, and so that's where

(01:53:54):
they're looking at. I do think they did come out
and say that the Committee said they are willing to
look at some changes this offseason. I do think I
don't know if they'll do it for next year, but
I hope they do. Will change the stupidity of the
automatic bid for the conference chan the four highest ranked
conference champions moving to the front of the line. I
think they will change that. When the Committee does their
final rankings, they list won through twenty five. One through

(01:54:15):
four should be the first the first round buys no
matter what conference they are. If their four Big ten teams,
so be it, and Notre Dame is the top four
the tough so be it. Like if you are a
top four team in this country at the end of
the year, you should get a first round by I
just Boise and Arizona State jumping.

Speaker 2 (01:54:31):
Everybody was stupid to.

Speaker 5 (01:54:32):
My original point, though, that's awful presumptuous. Now granted, more
times than not, the Big Ten is gonna get you four,
the SEC is gonna get you four. But on a
year where the ACC is four deep, or maybe some
case the Big twelve is four deep. That means you're
gonna you're gonna potentially knock out an ACC or a
Big twelve school in order to squeeze in a fourth

(01:54:53):
SEC or a fourth Big ten school that may not
be deserving of being in that.

Speaker 6 (01:54:56):
I think this year was an interesting year because there
was a lot of parody in the SEC. But if
we're still if we're being real with ourselves, Ole Miss
finished with three losses, were they still one of the
four best teams in the SEC? Could they still have
been in this field of twelve?

Speaker 4 (01:55:10):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (01:55:10):
Probably People were making a case for Alabama. Three loss Alabama,
I didn't think they deserve to be in, but you know,
are they? The problem I have is the four the
Big Ten getting for automatic four bids. We've seen the
last couple of years. There's Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State.
I mean, great story, Indiana, but we we saw from
the get go you didn't belong there. Who's the who's

(01:55:30):
the fourth and fifth best teams of the Big Ten?
Is a monster dropoff Purdue and you know all these
other crappy teams ruggers Like I'm sorry, I think the
Big Ten is way more top heavy than the SEC.

Speaker 5 (01:55:42):
Well, I just think we're having a difficult time essentially
telling the committee. We think we're giving you the responsibility
of giving us the twelve or four team best teams,
but we're trying to create some different scheduling courts.

Speaker 6 (01:55:54):
Fairness because the conference is the big twelve. Commissioners like,
I'm not signed off on this. Un Listen, we get
we get a fair shot. It's like, can't do it
that way. It's just got to be whoever's ranked one
through twelve, that's who it should be in.

Speaker 2 (01:56:04):
All right here, it is anything else for Gordy, he's looked.

Speaker 6 (01:56:07):
On Texas by the way, ESPN put out there way
too early, top twenty five.

Speaker 2 (01:56:11):
Yes, Texas Longhorns number two. I think I think Brent
McMurphy put him one. It's a lot of faith in
arch Manning because they lose a ton.

Speaker 5 (01:56:20):
Yeah, I know, I don't have them number one and
have them number one, I don't make the poll.

Speaker 6 (01:56:25):
Michael taff and Archie Manning. Yeah, let's go baby, new
new old line.

Speaker 2 (01:56:32):
A couple of a couple of corners came back. No,
Anthony Hill's back. Uh. Yeah, they got some.

Speaker 6 (01:56:38):
They got some of the defensive pieces back Colin Simmons. Yeah,
but yeah, it's it's a lot of rebuilding. Matthew Golden,
by the way, is jumping up draft boards. I've been
told by multiple people number one one receiver in the
clan wide receiver.

Speaker 2 (01:56:50):
If I could put a hex on somebody, it would
be him. Why why would you put a hecks on Matthew,
this young man who went to go better his life
and play in the playoff rather than to lose a
bunch of games with Willie Fritz. You wouldn't have lost
a log a game. Well, Matthew Golden was here, we
would have been like a nine win team, was firing
every pass into the dirt? Is he going to the
Senior Bowl?

Speaker 4 (01:57:11):
I haven't seen that yet.

Speaker 2 (01:57:12):
Matthew Golden might jump down there next week. Oh well,
can you stay in town for more than one day? Jesus?
For day I drive down the mobile. We'll get a
mobile report. Are you you're not going to drive? That's
too far for you to drive? Drive? No, it's not easy.
Drive how many what's it? Eight hours?

Speaker 4 (01:57:28):
It's about that.

Speaker 2 (01:57:30):
No, it's longer than that. Seven if you put pedal
to them. I don't need no, I don't.

Speaker 5 (01:57:33):
Want you being your wife wants you to be at
home and maybe or maybe this is the opposite, she
wants you out of town.

Speaker 6 (01:57:39):
Two years ago I got on one on one with
a little kid out of Houston named Tank Dell Long Beholden.

Speaker 5 (01:57:44):
That's the reason why I mean, you mean, that's is
why he's been hurt so much. It's a Gordy curse.
Good until he got hurt. It's good, mate, Golden.

Speaker 2 (01:57:54):
If he had stayed at you probably would have been
hurt all year. That's not true. We have the best
sports medicine in America and Wegman, we trust go ask
d J. Hayden. So we saved his life. Yeah, okay, right, Yeah,
he was minutes from dying and we said it got
him to the hospital.

Speaker 5 (01:58:11):
I thought if Tank was Tank Dell was so you
of h instead of being in the NFL, he'd be
back on his feet playing Matthew.

Speaker 2 (01:58:18):
Yeah exactly.

Speaker 5 (01:58:19):
Okay, So you of aged Football's athletic department, as far
as their medicine is better than the Texans, Yeah, would
put us Johns Hopkins uh, Sedar Sinai was.

Speaker 6 (01:58:29):
Over under games played this year for Connor Wegman. I'm
gonna sit the line at eight and a half.

Speaker 2 (01:58:33):
Why why are you saying we're gonna get hurt over?
I guess why wouldn't we start? I don't know.

Speaker 5 (01:58:38):
You tell me is he is he in danger of
losing his job? Or he'll just go tell tell Gordy
how good our recruiting has been. Oh, the basketball was
basketball football? Damn it, I thought you thought I was
saying number two classes. We were talking about football basketball
teams on a roll. Yeah, be a shame if they
lost in the tournament unexpectedly. By the way, that game
is five o'clock with Utah. So if you're going to

(01:59:02):
the cop game this afternoon on at five o'clock, you
could go, I'm busy. If they serve Frenchies for pregames, delicious?
Wait what okay? Now I want to I'm not gonna eat.
I believe I'm not going to out Ryan Hounds, but
I'm going to anyway. He had never had Frenchies until
he and I worked together. He might have had eight pieces.

Speaker 2 (01:59:20):
It's good Wex has got the hook up for sideline
court side seats. I still care for the rules. But
the chicken is excellent. Chicken and red beans and Rice.
Oh yeah, oh so good. Has a nice environment too. Yeah,
once you come check it out. Hose to the court.
I think I was there when it was the old building.
I was there for the CB. I was it.

Speaker 5 (01:59:40):
The last time I was in there was the CBI game.
It's way nicer when Prince eBay missed like eight free throws.
If I get some decen seat, you come sit with
me for a game, absolutely, and we'll eat and drink
and be merry and watch.

Speaker 2 (01:59:51):
You'll actually see a real college basketball team kick some ass. Yeah,
speak of CBI, Rodney Terry, how's that going? Maybe I
got the just beat twenty five ranked, twenty fifth ranked
Miszoo last night? What four five? Yeah, they got crushed
by like all the top teams in the country. Official
lost any remaining audience.

Speaker 5 (02:00:13):
What are you on the road that's back to back
quad to a quad one wins. Okay, maybe not back
to back. I think we trust there you go, Couchs,
just don't lose anymore. Saving him for the tournament. That
was Gordy's update twelve forty four Sports Talk Semounty. He
says that all of you in pairlane can't drive worth crap.

Speaker 5 (02:02:17):
Let's see, we've got the Hall of Fame announcement Billy
Wagner in congratulations to him.

Speaker 7 (02:02:22):
C C.

Speaker 5 (02:02:23):
Sabathia, You Chirosa Zuki. Somebody sent me a and you
were talking about this before one on the air. The
class of twenty six. Oh my god, it's not great
here it is Ryan Brawn is no chance we just
go through? Yeah, go there can shoot Chew. I'm good

(02:02:43):
Edwin and Carnacion. No Geo Gonzalez, no, Howie Kendrick, no,
Matt Kemp no Cole Hammils.

Speaker 2 (02:02:53):
Oh wait yeah maybe.

Speaker 5 (02:02:56):
Alex Gordon no Nick Markkus no, Daniel Murphy, no Hunter Pence, no,
Rick Porcello, no Neil Walker.

Speaker 7 (02:03:08):
No.

Speaker 5 (02:03:09):
I got news from Major League Baseball's Hall of Fame.
Now that's not just the only people on. There're some
some of the people that will carry over. If you're
one of those carryover groups, do you have the list
from yesterday? I have who got what the votes? Yeah,
because the whole ballot. Yeah, if you're if you're a
part of that carryover group from last Andrew Jones is
looking good. Maybe Tory Hunter gets in after all.

Speaker 4 (02:03:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:03:30):
I think Carlos Beltram Maybe it was close. Carlos. Yeah
that if that's what.

Speaker 5 (02:03:34):
You're competing against from twenty twenty six, if you've gotten
that sixty to seventy percent category, you're gonna be pretty
close to getting in. Belle Tram's at seventy percent, he's
in Andrew Jones at sixty six. He's in Chase Utley
thirty nine percent. Nope, Alex Rodriguez thirty four percent. Nope,
his ninethy year on the ballot, by the way, Andy
Pettitt twenty eight percent, Andy Pettit by way has been

(02:03:56):
a huge debate point on Twitter, Andy pett It's all
very good.

Speaker 2 (02:04:01):
Agree, totally agree, and am admitted juicer. Yeah. I if
you admit you don't get in, it's unfortunate, or you
don't get more juicing get caught. Still you don't get it.
I mean also, I mean, are you gonna tell me
there isn't anybody that was juicing and just didn't get
caught or didn't admit it, saying they're very lucky if
they if they didn't get caught.

Speaker 5 (02:04:23):
Two hundred and fifty six wins. Andy Pettitt, three time
All Star now five World Series.

Speaker 2 (02:04:29):
Hold on, you said two fifty six for Pennant, Yes,
Oh that's your threshold. Man. You gotta put him in.
You gotta put him in.

Speaker 5 (02:04:37):
Matthew five time World Series champion, zero time Sideenet's numbers percentage.
Uh oh, I'd have to go back. Hold on, Oh,
how many years? See he's been in. This's gotta be
several years for him as a this is his seventh year.

(02:05:00):
Can you go from twenty nine to seventy five and
three years, I guess you could top five in the
cy Young four times. It's as many as Sabbathia, but
never won it. I'll al will say, is this. There's
nobody from the class of twenty six that's gonna get in,
not even close, frankly, except maybe Cole Hamil's. But he
I still think he's going to be distancing so far

(02:05:21):
away that maybe a guy like an Andy Peennitt gets
the bump up beltrans get again.

Speaker 2 (02:05:26):
I'm just going with no, I wouldn't put him in. No,
and I like and I like Andy, but I would,
but I wouldn't put him in. Dear Park legend.

Speaker 4 (02:05:35):
It was so weird.

Speaker 2 (02:05:36):
We used to have an a whole p D. It's like,
you gotta go sit in front of his house. When
he comes out, you can talk to him like I'm
not doing that, Yeah you are, like, Okay, I need
to get another job, and that's why I did. It's
ridiculous not stalking people at people's houses for stupid sports
for a twelve second SoundBite. Third, get a mat, proud
of you. I got him. I looking ahere. I'm now
hanging out with you, I win, you lose. That guy's

(02:05:58):
had four jobs day. There you go.

Speaker 5 (02:06:02):
Yeah, so I guess Beltran's gonna get in there, So
Clements is Clemens off the list?

Speaker 4 (02:06:05):
Now?

Speaker 5 (02:06:07):
Yes, players get it that are going to be off
the ballot because they didn't eat five percent include Troy Tulowitzki,
Curtis Granderson, Oh.

Speaker 2 (02:06:21):
Ben Zebras didn't get any votes. No zero votes.

Speaker 5 (02:06:24):
Oh that's too bad, Hanley Ramirez, Fernando Rodney, all zero
v You know, Jim Desha's.

Speaker 2 (02:06:31):
Said he voted. I don't know. Did Chase had a
vote or something at some point? Why would he remember
the member of bb somebody got somebody voted. Oh no, see,
I know what it is.

Speaker 5 (02:06:40):
Somebody voted Jim to Shay's in because he didn't want
to be He didn't want to get Jim to Shay
to be embarrassed.

Speaker 2 (02:06:46):
He didn't get a vote.

Speaker 5 (02:06:47):
Okay, Yeah, this is what these writers are doing with
their votes, not voting for each hero. And to be fair,
the Major League, the BBAA wanted to have an edict
in where they would display their votes. But the bait

(02:07:07):
but the Hall of Fame said no one, I'll let
you do it and that you cat option that if
you want to do it, it's on your own Acca.
I'm okay with that. I think all right, let's get
to Emay Adoky. He'll start the final hour of the
Matt Thomas Show with Ross. We've got to Believe it
or not today about the Hall of Famers.

Speaker 2 (02:07:23):
Email is with us. After I tell you about Two
Creeks Crossing Resorts starting to warm up in the next
couple of days, that means you should start making some
plans for spending some time outdoors when it's refreshing and
crisp and enjoyable. That's what you can do when you
get to Two Creeks Crossing Resort.

Speaker 5 (02:07:37):
It's a r V site and a site with plenty
of amazing waterfront cabins and glamping tents in yurts, all
on their beautiful property very close to Lake Livingston, about
ninety minutes from downtown Houston, where they are offering forty
percent off I repeat, forty percent off those cabins, twenty
percent off of r V sites. So if you got
an RV, get up there about ninety minutes from downtown,

(02:07:59):
as I mentioned. If you don't have an RV, no worries.
They've got these amazing cabins that have kitchens. Uh, they
have full ovens, they've got stoves, they've got refrigerators, microwaves,
lots of nice treats, Wi Fi, color televisions with cable
and satellite, all the good stuff at two Creeks Crossingresort
dot com. Forty percent off those cabin rentals, twenty percent

(02:08:22):
off on RV site for you. Take a look at
the website for yourself and you'll say, yeah, Matt, it's
good chance to get away for a couple days. The
friends and family at two two Creeks Crossingresort dot com.

Speaker 1 (02:08:34):
Launchtimers, this is the Matt Thomas Show.

Speaker 2 (02:08:38):
All right.

Speaker 5 (02:08:38):
Our time is one o one. It is the Matt
Thomas Show with Ross. We're expecting to be joined by
em A Dook of the Rockets Coach here in just
a couple of minutes. We uh, we look forward to
having you with us all hour long, whether it's on
the phones at seven one three seven ninety or perhaps
on Twitter if you want to follow us there at
Sports Empty, at Sports RV and at Damn Matthew's h

(02:09:01):
ou This's with one tea and it's in all caps
because he's just a loud personality.

Speaker 2 (02:09:05):
You don't have to put it in all caps. He'll
find it, that's sure. You could.

Speaker 5 (02:09:10):
Uh, we got to believe it or not. Today coming
up at one fifty about the Hall of Fame. You
know what's funny though, when we will get to image second,
that's funny. Hall of Fame used to really really be
a big, unbelievable event. And clearly when if you saw
the video of Billy Wagner getting in, he uh, he
was quite emotional. It's a huge accomplishment. Is also his

(02:09:30):
last year is extra emotional.

Speaker 2 (02:09:32):
Yeah. I wonder if.

Speaker 5 (02:09:34):
Somebody set him up and said you want to shoot
this or did somebody shoot that video? And like he
hit the ERASEKI for you had to come up just short.

Speaker 2 (02:09:41):
I thought it was because his wife was there.

Speaker 5 (02:09:46):
Ortiz kicks. What's his full name, Hazeus, Yeah, that's Haysus Ortiz.
Was he there at the at Billy Wigner's house. I
thought it was his video that he posted, but I
could be wrong.

Speaker 2 (02:10:00):
The point being is that you'd hate to come over
to Billy's house and then he you know, you're just
shy and then you have to turn the video off
and say I'm sorry to bother, didn't mean it. You
can post that one you didn't want to post that.

Speaker 5 (02:10:15):
Yeah, I think it's Hayeseus's Hayes Jose Dejezeu's hortis.

Speaker 2 (02:10:19):
Excuse me, Okay, yes, but they call him Jesus. Okay,
so there you go. Uh yeah, so he must have.

Speaker 5 (02:10:24):
He must have come over and maybe maybe somebody from
the Baseball Hall of Fames that you can go over there,
because if Hazu's hortis wants you to come over and
shoot video of you getting the phone call, isn't it
a good sign?

Speaker 7 (02:10:38):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (02:10:38):
I guess? So?

Speaker 5 (02:10:40):
So how much that was rehearsed? And sometimes that was
I think it was authentic, Matt, all right? Like when
I get in the Texas Radio Hall of Fame, if
it ever.

Speaker 2 (02:10:47):
Happens, I want a video that you do. Yeah, why not?
Why don't you pay the enrollment fee first for me?

Speaker 5 (02:10:52):
You're supposed to pay it for me. Oh so basically
I'm paying for you to help me. The only way
I can nominate you is if I'm a member, and
I'm not. You gotta pay from a membership, Matt, all right,
So if anybody sobs and Texas Radio Hall of Fame
once to nominate me. Let's pay Look at Texas. I
believe their website is still based off of a copy
serve account. That's not true, Matt, it doesn't it's not

(02:11:13):
real professional. What do you mean t R H O
F dot net? All right, well, let's give him a breakdown.
You've already called four time. We'll give them a couple
of minutes texts. Yeah, yeah, uh seven one three two
one two five seven ninety seven one three two one
two five seventy Is it look.

Speaker 2 (02:11:30):
Does it look good?

Speaker 5 (02:11:31):
Uh? Fifty dollars for first year membership to the Hall
of Fame or Matt, just give me five hundred bones
and I'm a lifetime member.

Speaker 2 (02:11:38):
It costs five hundred bucks. So what would you get
to be in the Texas Radio Hall of Fame? What
does it get you? No, it's just for voting, being
a voting member. That's it.

Speaker 5 (02:11:47):
You don't get like it discounts at various hotels, restaurants,
and runner car agencies. Yeah, I think you get half
off xl R cables. It's so baseball. One great line,
but so inside baseball. I don't know what you get Matt,
I think you get first right to be cranky about

(02:12:07):
the industry turning into uh hub and spokes systems.

Speaker 2 (02:12:10):
Oh here we go, and you're not gonna go real
to reel on us. No, no, no, no, all right.

Speaker 5 (02:12:17):
Uh so, congratulations to Billy. It'll be cool to see
another app. I mean we've had a good run Bagwell, yeah,
Bigio deserved.

Speaker 2 (02:12:26):
Uh Wagner.

Speaker 5 (02:12:27):
Is there anybody else on the astro front that needs
to get in that we have not talked about? Unfortunately,
Berkman's off the ballot. Yeah, Berkman again is economy plus?

Speaker 7 (02:12:39):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (02:12:39):
I like Berkman, but it was crazy. I think he
was off the ballot in like one year. It's like
the dude couldn't even get five percent. Well, the problem
was he didn't have any much national cachet. He got
one point two percent. He's at least more deserving of
one point two percent.

Speaker 2 (02:12:52):
Yeah, yeah, but holl o, are you good?

Speaker 5 (02:12:55):
I mean, let's face it, part of being a New
York LA Chicago players, You're gonna get a lot more
attent in Boston too.

Speaker 4 (02:13:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:13:02):
If you're on askabat that he played his entire career Milwaukee.
Is he in maybe probably it would take quite a
bit of work. I mean, you gotta think of the
super molitor in youn or in from Milwaukee. Roley Fingers
is in HM, but that's not a real deep group
of Milwaukee brewers that have been in the Hall of Fame.
Ryan Bront no chance, No, no, he was. He was

(02:13:22):
the convicted on the steroids. No, the steroid guys are
not getting in, even though it felt like we've had
quite a bit of separation between that steroid aaron where
we are now.

Speaker 2 (02:13:31):
Yes, but yeah, he's not getting in. It was Was
he a biogenesis guy? Ryan Brown?

Speaker 5 (02:13:38):
Was he a I didn't do it and get caught
guy later got caught. I think he got caught and
then he did he win? It was the chain of custody, right,
he won his He won his case on a technicality
because the chain of custody was briefly broken or something.
And then he was in the biogenesis scandal. I think
he basically threw the person who ran the sample under

(02:13:59):
the buff. He actually saying that they did weird things.
That was the first time I remember hearing chain of custody.
But isn't that what we do in generally in life?

Speaker 2 (02:14:07):
Boys?

Speaker 5 (02:14:07):
Is that if we're accused of something, we admit, we
say no, that can't be us, and then we come
back and apologize and say, well it was a by accident.
It's like all these NFL guys they get dinged for
when they take these suppressants and stuff to make weight
or something and they have illegal narcotics that are against
NFL rules.

Speaker 2 (02:14:23):
They go, oh, no, that wasn't me.

Speaker 5 (02:14:24):
I never would have. I don't use that stuff for
performance enhancement. Oh, but I took something because a friend
of mine says I can lose a couple of pounds
this way.

Speaker 4 (02:14:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:14:33):
Twenty eleven was his testosterone test failed. And then twenty
twelve was when the biogenesis thing broke, which that was
the Alex Rodriguez, Ryan Braun and some other guys.

Speaker 2 (02:14:43):
And he wore it. I mean, Ryan Braun was a
I mean the Scarlett letter was.

Speaker 5 (02:14:48):
On him, Nelson Cruz, Johnny Parole to Everis Cabrera and
then some lesser known guys. Still Ryan Bron still beloved
in Milwaukee. But a couple of years where you couldn't.

Speaker 2 (02:15:01):
You didn't want to. He wanted to.

Speaker 5 (02:15:02):
He wanted to hide his hide himself. He didn't want
to be out there in the public because people were
pretty mad at him. He's got a borderline case as
it would be six time All Star, three hundred and
fifty home runs because Rafael Palmayer. I don't have his
numbers in front of me, but Rafael Palmas to me
he was five hundred home runs and three thousand hits.

Speaker 2 (02:15:20):
Yeah, I mean it shouldn't be a no brainer.

Speaker 5 (02:15:22):
Yeah, but when you lied and you suck your index
finger out and said I didn't do this, and then
they cut your right handed I did not ever use stereo, period.

Speaker 2 (02:15:33):
Yeah he did. We had a lot of guys in
front of then we had Mark McGuire's uncomfortable who was
using his child as a human shield.

Speaker 5 (02:15:43):
Yeah he was.

Speaker 2 (02:15:45):
I've never seen a guy sweat as much as he
did on in front of him talking about it. Right, buddy,
look at my child. I'm a father, I'm a father
of children. Please don't ask me all these hard questions. Well, Ross,
we talked about this morning though, too. I mean a
lot of that can be forgiven if you were a
nice guy. True. Does anybody talk about David Ortiz in
this way? M not really?

Speaker 5 (02:16:04):
He was what you call it report right, Mitchell Report
with the Yeah, people love him because he's so gregarious
on television. Yeah, he's nice. He throws money at everyone,
says the Astros of the Yankees. Daddy, Well, Pedro did that.
I mean he does s talk Derek Jeeter a lot,
and I have zero problem with that. It's fun and
alexand Rings for that matter too. I mean, it's it's

(02:16:28):
not ironic that the baseball Fox posts and coverage has
Yankees and Red.

Speaker 2 (02:16:32):
Sox on it all over the place. Oh, because that's
who they're playing. That's usually the teams they want to show.
They're all like, I think I like the Astros to
win this one. There.

Speaker 5 (02:16:40):
Saturday Night Baseball, it's Yankees Red Sox on Fox. Sunday
Night Baseball, it's Yankees Red Sox on ESPN. Like, if
you were a fan of the Yankees hearing talent, our
friend is our garden Oaks buddy, Uh, you wouldn't have
to pay for the for the extra innings package because
you get every Yankees game on television as it is true.

Speaker 2 (02:16:57):
Actually that's a good point.

Speaker 5 (02:16:58):
By the way, the Astros will be on Sunday Night
Baseball early on in the year. Yes, we found that
out when the times came out, So there's a little
bit of run for the Astros. Also, by the way,
coming up, we will be Astros fan Fest this Saturday,
and you'll have some great guess you'll have Erlander on
the show.

Speaker 2 (02:17:14):
No, he's not on the team. He's he's with the Giants.

Speaker 5 (02:17:17):
But we'll have a great lineup of guests this weekend
Astros fan Fest.

Speaker 2 (02:17:22):
I think it's eleven to four.

Speaker 1 (02:17:23):
We're on.

Speaker 2 (02:17:25):
Me, you and Wex eleven to two. Two to four
is li Liima and Sean? What's up Clinton doing? He's big,
he's busy. He's a running cables for us. Actually is
he No, because Wex is on the Rockets at night.

Speaker 4 (02:17:40):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (02:17:41):
I'm also on pre and post three hours on Saturday
plus pre and post, so you're working a lot of hours.
Dan will be out Dan's out there. Yeah, yeah, Liima
and Sean are out there. You'll be calling the game.
I'm doing the game in Cleveland. I would be with
you guys. Yes, you know I've done it before.

Speaker 5 (02:17:58):
It's the other thing I will say is a little
bit advice for those who go into Astros fan Fest.
There's no heat inside in the Main Park, Dakon Park,
dk In Park, whatever, Dacon or dyke it Diking. I've
seen both, so both so dress warmly, yeah, depending, I
think it's supposed to be like sixties. Still, I was
gonna wear a scarf, bundle up. By the way you
wore the scarf yesterday, and so what you were like?

(02:18:20):
I took it off fast because hot. You can't take
it off fast off. It's because it's so effective.

Speaker 2 (02:18:24):
It looks so metro. It was just weird. I don't care.
It's utilitarian. It keeps me warm. You kept you kept
on for thirty seconds.

Speaker 5 (02:18:32):
Again, we're not taking fashion advice from Matten good literally
with the cold. Usually if you go hands, ears, neck
and feet, you're good. Ninety seven percent of the time
you're wearing something you got free from the rockets.

Speaker 9 (02:18:43):
Or you of h.

Speaker 5 (02:18:45):
It's closer than ninety eight. It's like I I put
my scarf on right now. It's gonna make me uncomfortable.

Speaker 2 (02:18:54):
No, it's not.

Speaker 5 (02:18:54):
It's gonna make UNCOMFORTACA. It's gonna be too hot. Mater
fac I'm gonna turn to heat up to seventy five.
You're gonna put on my head. But I aired for
a segment.

Speaker 2 (02:19:01):
Have you washed it lately?

Speaker 5 (02:19:03):
It's clean, it's brand new, actually, yeah, but it's got's
got some of your beard dust on it.

Speaker 2 (02:19:06):
That's fine. Oh, it's warm either Texans hoodie on. I'm
so proud of you. Oh, I've had this battle battle
Road back in the day. Battle Red is out there.

Speaker 5 (02:19:17):
Battle Red's looking for offensive line improvement and pass cat
still mad out that the defensive interior. By the way,
battle Read is still mad that Pat Mahomes didn't get
called for a foul for flopping. Yeah, they need to
be fine flops for flopping fines for the NFL. Are
there has there ever been an NFL players have been
fine for a flop? No, they need to put that in. Yeah, now,

(02:19:39):
they never do in the NBA has seventy five flops
a game, and they don't.

Speaker 2 (02:19:42):
They don't find their players either.

Speaker 5 (02:19:44):
But all right seven one three two one two five
seven ninety seven one three two one two five seven
nine zero.

Speaker 2 (02:19:52):
We hope to catch up with Emandoka here in the
next few minutes. Here on Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 8 (02:19:59):
Matt Tom Ross VIIEL It's a Matt Thomas Show with
Ross on Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 5 (02:20:07):
One eighteen on Sports Talk seven ninety. It is a
Matt Thomas show with Ross seven one three two one
two five seven nineties. The number you can call us anytime.
We'll believe it or not. Coming up in about thirty
minutes from now, and is all things about the three
new members of the twenty twenty five Baseball Hall of
Fame tomorrow and the radio show we'll have.

Speaker 2 (02:20:28):
I just don't get it.

Speaker 5 (02:20:29):
We'll have a recap of the Rockets and Cavaliers, but
right now we preview the Rockets and Cavaliers with Emi Adoka,
who joins us here.

Speaker 2 (02:20:36):
Coach. I'm sorry about this. Whether I knew when you
took the job in Houston you were thinking about eighty
five degrees every single day, but you know what's gonna
happen once every twenty five or thirty years. That's why
you're late, right.

Speaker 7 (02:20:46):
Yeah, got caught up in the snow store. No, it
was it was interesting. I've never seen this in my
time in Texas, but it was kind of pretty. I
must admit it was pretty.

Speaker 2 (02:20:58):
But how did you do in Boston? Damn? I mean
that's happened all the time. And did you have a
good snowblowers?

Speaker 5 (02:21:04):
That was the key to my success in living in Minneapolis,
as I had a high end snow blower to get
rid of all that crap on the sidewalks.

Speaker 7 (02:21:11):
Yeah, some practice after my years in San Antonio and
from Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Boston, so I had quite a bit
of snow, but lived in a high rise so didn't
have to do the Oh.

Speaker 5 (02:21:21):
Oh, I'm so jealous, so jealous. All right, email, let's
get to first things first. The game against Detroit stunned,
the forty point first core. That had to surprise you
a little bit as well. And I gotta get the
sense from the guys in the locker room and certainly
listened to you after the game that there was just
a little more fire in the belly from the Pistons
a couple nights ago, and that hasn't happened a lot
for your squad this year.

Speaker 4 (02:21:42):
Yeah, that's exactly what it was. I think there's a
few things. Obviously.

Speaker 7 (02:21:46):
I called the time out halfway through the quarter when
it was nineteen to nineteen and both teams were kind
of scoring at will, and I said, brom pace for
a forty point quarter, given up, in which we never
do and so or rarely do. But it felt like
we were scoring well enough and weren't giving any resistance
on the other end. So you know, we gave that up,
got back in it, obviously down fifteen, and to take

(02:22:09):
a lead and then be tied at halftime. So we
felt like we woke up a little bit late, coming
off the West Coast trip early game, all those things.
But yeah, bottom line, was out played us, out hustled us.
We're more aggressive and that has rarely happened this year.
So looking forward to getting back to who we are tonight.

Speaker 5 (02:22:23):
Yeah, thirty nine points in the second half obviously was
not what you wanted to see from your squad, though
the defense did settle down. Was it just a night
of offshooting where there's some spots on the floor that
maybe some better shots could have been taken.

Speaker 4 (02:22:36):
A little bit of both. I think we guarded well enough.

Speaker 7 (02:22:38):
Obviously, they had seventeen in the fourth quarter where we
only scored sixteen, and so other than those six or
seven freet throws late in that quarter, we really guarded well.
But to your point, weren't scoring enough. I think they
mixed it up with some zone and going after Jaleno
quite a bit. They guarded, I'll be one on one,
and we just didn't make him pay. I thought we
saw a lot of blitzes on Jalen earlier in the

(02:23:00):
season where we got some practice and we managed it well,
but didn't really take advantage of that there.

Speaker 4 (02:23:06):
And then some of our other guys just missed shots.

Speaker 7 (02:23:09):
That they usually make one on one situations, and so
it was a rare off night for a lot of people.
And then once our defense did settle down, we just
didn't score at the rate that we needed to.

Speaker 5 (02:23:18):
Yeah, outp Be with a little bit of a difficult
scoring knight for himself with eleven points, and mi Aoi's
philosophy on him is this, I don't know what you
tell him in between games and practice and whatnot, is
I don't mind it. I'd rather him go to the
basket and take his chances against some rim protectors. And
Darren's obviously a different kind of player, but he's gone
against Gobert and Giannis and some other folks Yokic in
the past. That's when I find my most impressive times

(02:23:41):
watching Alpi is you know what I'll see what I
can do is compared to maybe taking the fade away
and making him maybe a more difficult two point attempt.
How much do you talk about him going against an
individual defender as the game is progressing.

Speaker 7 (02:23:55):
Yeah, I think for him it's if teams are gonna
guard in one on one, we have the belief that
he's going to score more often than not. And so
you've seen it done obviously against some of the best
post defenders in the league. And the thing is to
be aggressive and not be hesitant, whether that's in the
pick and roll, you know, the half role where you
kind of stop halfway instead of going all the way
to basket, or in the post taking some of those
fadeaways like you mentioned as well. So the rhythm guy

(02:24:17):
that gets you know, he sees one or two go
down and gets into a rhythm obviously has all the
footwork and moves down there. But first and foremost should
be to be aggressive and go score, especially when they're
guarding you one on one, and so it's.

Speaker 4 (02:24:28):
Some easy ones that he would usually make.

Speaker 7 (02:24:31):
Obviously, five for fourteen is a tough night for him
with a lot of those coming inside, But like I said,
a lot of guys at off nights as well. But
we want all the guys to be aggressive, you know,
not give a defender or a scheme any credit there
or too much credit. Attack those like we have and
that's when we're at our best.

Speaker 5 (02:24:46):
You mentioned the five of fourteen and a shooting percentage
is down from where it's been last couple of years
and his career.

Speaker 2 (02:24:52):
What do you attribute that to.

Speaker 4 (02:24:55):
I had? I mean him and Jalen.

Speaker 7 (02:24:57):
They both had slow starts offensively, you know, from a
percentage standpoint, I think we saw those both guys come
out of those fairly quickly.

Speaker 4 (02:25:05):
It was just a lot of mishots early in the
season that we talked about.

Speaker 7 (02:25:08):
You know, our record would have been a little bit
different early on if we scored, and you know now
we're scoring at a high enough clip and a big
part is our aggressiveness. And so just continue to be
aggressive and take the shots that are there. Like I said,
don't second guess and give a defender or anybody too
much credit. Go do what you do, especially if they're
going to guard you one on one. You know, we
invite the double teams that he attracts to garner a

(02:25:31):
bunch of free shots for everybody else.

Speaker 4 (02:25:33):
But when they do guard you one on one, go
make them pay. And so we have.

Speaker 7 (02:25:36):
Motivated guys that are obviously very confident, and so look
back to getting to what we do.

Speaker 4 (02:25:41):
Tonight.

Speaker 5 (02:25:42):
Rockets head coach Emo Adoko with us here on Sports
Talk seven ninety after tonight. Eight of nine games on
the road, two sets of four games and six nights.
Is there any sort of conversations about altering or rotations
or keeping guys fresh or is it going to be
business as usual?

Speaker 4 (02:26:00):
We're looking at both.

Speaker 7 (02:26:01):
I mean, obviously the makeup game in Atlanta adds one,
adds it back to back after Boston there. And so
for us, you know, we talk about our depth all
the time and how we have very reliable guys and
so you know.

Speaker 4 (02:26:12):
Tari coming off some things and different guys feeling things.

Speaker 7 (02:26:15):
Stephen was out with the migraine obviously, and so we
rely on the guys that we have at hand. But no,
we can go deeper if we need to. And so yeah,
for us, it's business as usual. I you know, I
don't mind the road schedule at all. I think it
builds character and toughness. And then we've obviously done much
better job this year than last year. So let's get
on the road and it doesn't matter who we're playing

(02:26:35):
or whatever the case is, we want to hold ourselves
to a certain standard and attack it with the same
mentality like we do at home.

Speaker 5 (02:26:41):
Yeah, it certainly has been a tail of two seasons
for this squad fourteen and seven away from totisener this year,
which has been a lot of fun to watch and
call this Cleveland team. I mean, my goodness, six losses
on the year, they shoot at almost fifty percent, they're
making forty percent of their threes.

Speaker 2 (02:26:58):
Now, you're not going to give us any companies secrets, but.

Speaker 5 (02:27:01):
Have you been able to find something that you kind
of say, all right, if we take advantage of this,
we can get at least one or may hopefully both
these games against the Cavaliers coming up.

Speaker 7 (02:27:11):
Yeah, I mean our thing is be who we are,
and so a lot of teams don't defend at the
level we do with the physicality that we do, and
so we're one of the best at taking away three pointers,
they're one of the best in making them. So it's
always a battle as far as that, and we've seen
that throughout the year against certain teams.

Speaker 4 (02:27:26):
And so what we want to do is be aggressive
and pose our will and play our.

Speaker 7 (02:27:30):
Style of basketball, and so a lot of teams get
taken aback by that, by our physicality. I think Detroit
did a good job against us with the blitzes and
the physicality they used last game. And so we understand
what works for us regardless of the opponent. We know
a lot of people don't play the way we do,
and so we could present some challenges as far as that.
Other than that, it's we don't look at the record.
We look at how we want to play where we're
trying to get to, and we've beaten a lot of

(02:27:53):
great opponents this year, and so Cleveland will present that
same challenge.

Speaker 2 (02:27:56):
Yeah, they score one hundred and twenty two points a game.

Speaker 5 (02:27:58):
I'm going to assume that you do you want to
slow things down or do you just want to make
sure that everything in terms of defense is short up
and that the good defense will turn into and we've
seen it so much this year coach better offense.

Speaker 2 (02:28:12):
For you guys.

Speaker 7 (02:28:13):
Yeah, we're not going to change the way we play,
and what we rely on is, like I said, our
defense and our toughness and the things that we can
try to take away from them. But as you said,
we've been our best, and we could turn defense offense,
get down in transition to have those high fast break
numbers and let our guys get out and run and
so get the stops, get out and run where most
teams are not great and transition defense. And that's what

(02:28:34):
we've had a good success with this year, getting the steals,
getting in the open court and everybody kind of being
having eco opportunity as far as that.

Speaker 4 (02:28:43):
So we'll do that. We'll be aggressive there.

Speaker 7 (02:28:45):
And then obviously you got some guys to worry about
Donald Mitchell and Garland.

Speaker 4 (02:28:48):
They're playing a high level.

Speaker 7 (02:28:49):
They got some athletic mobile bigs, even though mobile's out tonight,
so that's why they're so good. They present a lot
of challenges and have a lot of balance.

Speaker 5 (02:28:57):
Despite the loss of the tree at eighteen steals in
that con tests and a lot of them in Freddy
out on guards just poking the ball away. And how
much is that is that's basketball one on one for
these guys. Is that a little bit of taking their
chances and hoping that they can go in there and
not hopefully steal, you know, steal the ball away and
not commit a foul. What makes a team and an
individual player in your mind, a good guy that oh

(02:29:19):
and Tari does is too just poking the ball away
and forcing turnovers, but just just a guy just dribbling.

Speaker 7 (02:29:26):
Yeah, I mean we have guys are really good hands
and instincts, and so Fred is as tough as they come.
As far as that I think I'm in and Taria
through the best in the league and then dealing with
his body position and physicality. We also will go after
guys at certain points, and so we give our guys
freedom to make plays and be aggressive and well, like
I said, when our steel numbers are high and their
turnovers high and we can convert those in transition, we're

(02:29:48):
in good shape. But a lot has to do with instincts.
Their natural ability is something that's hard to teach, but
you know Fred does that well and obviously the other
guys as well.

Speaker 5 (02:29:57):
Coach, thanks for visiness always. We'll see a letter tonight
at the arena and the luck against the Cavaliers.

Speaker 4 (02:30:02):
Thank you.

Speaker 5 (02:30:02):
You got it Emay Dooka with us here on Sports

No need for a roadmap win All roads lead to
as sweet iHeartRadio app, Astros and Rockets games plus legendary
Houston Sports Talks seven ninety on any device with the
free iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (02:31:39):
Now that's the art of living a couple. News and
Notes from the NFL.

Speaker 5 (02:31:45):
Patrick Mahomes speaking to the Kansas City media, basically apologizing
for saying you shouldn't have tried to dec the couple
the Texans defensive guys chasing after him and potentially flopping.
Well one potential it was definitely a flop and did
not get a penalty for it. But he's like, I
gotta stop doing that. The officials were to correct not

(02:32:06):
to throw a flag on that play, he said, quote.
I would say the only one I felt like I
probably did too much was the one on the sideline
where I didn't get the flag.

Speaker 2 (02:32:14):
The ref saw it and I didn't get the flag.
I understood it immediately and know that I probably shouldn't
have done that. I've learned that no matter what happens
during the game, something is going to come out about it.
If you win, you can continue to win. I don't
want to pay attention to it, basically saying that he
hears the same noise that Mahomes gets, calls that other
quarterbacks don't get.

Speaker 5 (02:32:33):
So that's issue number one. Issue number two is that
former Nimmit's great? Is that once your Nymme's great? Aren't
you always?

Speaker 2 (02:32:40):
Anima always? Matt Cougars for life, Hail to Nimmits high,
Nimmet's high. Congrat Aaron Glenn is the new coach to
the Jetropolitans, the Jets hiring him today.

Speaker 5 (02:32:49):
M hm, well, the tris coach would have gone to
a better organization quite frankly, thanks kind of dysfunctional over
there in Jetsville.

Speaker 2 (02:32:58):
I think Aaron Rodgers goes back to them.

Speaker 3 (02:33:00):
Mmm.

Speaker 2 (02:33:02):
No, okay, so that's a lot of work there.

Speaker 5 (02:33:11):
Does he pass Michael Bourne as the greatest Nimts notable
alumni Britney Grinder?

Speaker 2 (02:33:18):
Grinder Glenn? Who's the other one born?

Speaker 5 (02:33:21):
Jason Glenn, Jason Glenn, Michael Bourne, Dante Hall, Dante Hall.
I mean, obviously I'm the last place, not so of
that group you just of that groove you mentioned Aaron
Glen number one, I think so, I don't know they
gave away a war criminal for Britney Grinder.

Speaker 2 (02:33:40):
Did it a what they traded a war criminal for
Britney Grinder to get her out? That's you put that.

Speaker 5 (02:33:46):
You put that on your resume, your so important. They
traded a war criminal arms dealer for me on your Twitter?
Biody put that on there. I don't know, all right,
So congratulations or maybe not congratulations to himybe he's getting
getting hey, coach.

Speaker 2 (02:34:00):
Money getting money. I mean it's the Jets. And then
if it's if he's terrible, it's like, well, it's not
my fault to Jets. Jets.

Speaker 5 (02:34:07):
Yeah, Robert sala is getting played from other organizations after
getting fired from the Jets.

Speaker 2 (02:34:12):
That's right, that's right.

Speaker 5 (02:34:13):
And then number three, So a lot of people around
the NFL have taken their shots at the officiating from
the Texans game against the Chiefs on Saturday. I think
Will Anderson wasn't afraid to say a couple of things.
I don't think Dimico tried to be as bombassic as

(02:34:33):
he can, but he's never going to be that much
of a referee comment Baier kind of thing.

Speaker 2 (02:34:39):
Yeah, he that was.

Speaker 5 (02:34:40):
Pretty strong from him. If you get anything from taking
anything strong anything like outside of we play well, we
respect everybody is pretty strong. The NFL, apparently it's coming
from Pro Football Talk, has fined Joe Mixon for twenty
five thousand dollars for saying, why play the Chiefs? Why

(02:35:02):
play the game of every fifty to fifty call goes
with the Chiefs. These officials are trash and bias.

Speaker 2 (02:35:08):
Ross. There's only one problem. Apparently, Joe Mixon didn't say this.

Speaker 5 (02:35:13):
According to the Pro Football Talk article, the quote is
from a tweet included in an SI story regarding Mixon's
actual comments after the game said, Mixon, everybody know how
it is playing up here. You can never leave it
into the ref's hands. The whole world Seaman. The same
article attributes the comment for which Mixon was fined not

(02:35:33):
to Mixon but to his former Bengals receiver TJ. Housman
Shada Wow. Mixon's actual quote wasn't mentioned in the fine letter,
presumably it wasn't enough to trigger the punishment. Mixon's agent,
gentleman by the name of Peter Schaffer, tells Pro Football
Talk he will quote, defend and appeal to fine, and
will explore all other legal avenues directify the situation.

Speaker 2 (02:35:58):
That's bizarre.

Speaker 5 (02:36:02):
So basically where they like your teammates said it, you
kind of agree with him, and then you said your
own little sort of version of what TJ said, We're
gonna find you twenty Now, if he's not, if he
doesn't say, why play the Chiefs, if every fifty to
fifty call goes with the Chiefs, He's officials are trash
and biased. If he didn't say that, then he shouldn't

(02:36:26):
be fined. Yeah, that has to be some sort of clarity.
There's got to be something, And my guess is the
NFL will figure this out. I think it'll be risky. Yeah,
it's got to be rescinded. There's no way that isn't
embarrassing the NFL with you get the players Association involved
in this. There's no way now granted for Joe mixing,
twenty five thousand dollars is a drop in the half.
In fact, in fact, I'll give you I'll flip the

(02:36:46):
other side of this. If I'm making several million dollars
a year and I get a chance to tell the
NFL their officials are trash, tell them shut their bump
ass up for twenty five geez that's that's actually not
bad value.

Speaker 2 (02:36:59):
That's fine, that's a trip to Cobo. Matt okay, but
he can.

Speaker 5 (02:37:05):
But he's gonna make that up. I mean, twenty five
thousand to him is twenty five bucks to you and me. Okay, Well,
then go asking for twenty five thousand dollars to see
if he agrees he's not gonna give me twenty five
thousand dollars. You said it's nothing to him. Yeah, but
just because something's nothing and it doesn't mean you have
to go ask for it's not my right to get
it from him.

Speaker 4 (02:37:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:37:21):
I look, Rossie, I travel with people that are making
thirty five and forty million dollars a year. Yes, I'll
ask them for money. Well you should if it's nothing
to them. Okay, So let's let's roll play this. Say, okay,
you be Matt okay, and I'll be said NBA player.

Speaker 7 (02:37:36):
Go for it.

Speaker 5 (02:37:37):
Hey, it's Matt Tomas, some of the greatest play by
play man in the history of the world. What do
you do again, I'm I'm your play by play voice. Yeah,
I've seen you around seven years. I've seen you around.

Speaker 2 (02:37:48):
I don't really know what you can I'm obsessed with
various women on Twitter and they're walking bets all that girl.
I like her?

Speaker 4 (02:37:55):
What's up?

Speaker 2 (02:37:55):
Anyways? Can I have twenty five gees?

Speaker 8 (02:37:57):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (02:37:58):
Yeah, you cann't pay me back with interest? Interest? How much?

Speaker 5 (02:38:02):
How many point? What's the what's the rate? What is
an APR for asking professional players for money?

Speaker 4 (02:38:08):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (02:38:08):
That would kick It would get me kicked off the
team like yesterday. Now somebody wants to hand me ten
gs and say, don't worry about it.

Speaker 2 (02:38:14):
They could do that. Yeah, your personal donation. I wonder
how many times professional atheletes get hit up for money
like their friends and stuff daily. My guess yes.

Speaker 5 (02:38:27):
Like the biggest group of people that hung around while
I was calling, while I've been calling games is James
Harden's group is immense, the posse, the peeps, the peeps,
the bros, the brothers, the number two.

Speaker 2 (02:38:45):
James is one. That's a good question.

Speaker 5 (02:38:50):
Now there's a difference because some guys travel their strength coaches.
Some guys travel their own personal security.

Speaker 2 (02:39:01):
Side pieces. Hmm, well, I don't see that. Life. You
can get a whole roster.

Speaker 5 (02:39:07):
I'm trying to think if James has more of his
friends with him, who would be second maybe Russ, but
it's such a it's such a like Harden's crew was
like five and six deep. I think maybe Russ had
his one or two. Maybe I don't know, but it's

(02:39:27):
been would nothing comes to mind.

Speaker 2 (02:39:29):
Put it that way.

Speaker 5 (02:39:29):
Plus the side pieces you recruit on the road to
avoid the jam up, Well, it depends. And by the way,
if I told you this, dame, when you have a
side piece, you do it. You get them in their
own room on the road, just in case the wife
surprises you with a little trip. I was told by
it by a former NBA player. Yeah, where it's to live?
Who shall remain namelessless.

Speaker 2 (02:39:48):
Or we're not going that road? Okay, thank you, Matt.
It makes sense.

Speaker 5 (02:39:55):
Yeah, you got to be practical about these things. You'd
be the one getting the text message, not any of us. No,
I mean, I'm not doing him a singing. But think
about this, if you're if you're an athlete and you
are unfortunately not staying faithful, professional athlete, not staying faithful.
If your wife says, hey, babe, I'm surprising you here

(02:40:15):
in Chicago. What roomy and I'm coming upstairs, that could
potentially cause some issues.

Speaker 2 (02:40:22):
Mm hmmm.

Speaker 5 (02:40:23):
So we saw that, and for love of the game.
I mean, Kelly Preston wasn't his wife, but she did
that to him at spring training.

Speaker 2 (02:40:32):
Perfectly done, my friend, just perfectly done. Proud of you
at least stands catching on. Mm hm, are getting Connor
back tomorrow? I believe so. I think hockey parlances were
full string. Is he gonna skate? He's gonna skate up here?
Anybody would have known how to deal with this? Would
it have been Connor? Yeah? Missourian, and.

Speaker 5 (02:40:55):
Yeah he plays hockey. Yeah, and his family's from Canada.
So he's the weakest one for not being here him
one Clinton two Wexford three.

Speaker 2 (02:41:04):
One three.

Speaker 5 (02:41:05):
Let's play Believe it or Not next seven one three
two one two five seven ninety seven one three two
one two five seven ninety Believe it or Not on
the candidates, not the candidates, the new and shrines in
the Baseball's Hall of Fame. If you would like to
play seven one three two one two five seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (02:41:25):
Now Matt Thomas Show continues.

Speaker 2 (02:41:29):
On your smart speaker.

Speaker 8 (02:41:31):
Listen to Sports Talk seven ninety on any device with
our free iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 5 (02:41:44):
Bobby Slowick has been requested by the Jacksonville Jaguars to
interview for their head coaching spot. I mean, Bobby's gonna
get a head coaching job. And by the way, it's funny,
ladies and gentlemen, all the haters of Bobby Slowick, it's
they you're kind of on phone on deaf.

Speaker 2 (02:42:04):
Ears on this. I don't think he'd be interviewed by
two different organizations if he was so bad.

Speaker 5 (02:42:09):
Now do I think he's gonna be a head coach
this year? I mean, it only takes one person's mind
to be made up. It's general manager too, of the owner.
But it's seeming like people don't want that Jaguars job.
It's Arrent Balky, who has not been a good general man.
And look, I was a Doug Peterson guy. I think
I thought it was a great hire by them. I
thought that he would have gone up there and be

(02:42:30):
able to resurrect that. And he had receivers, they had
spent money. Lawrence I thought was going to be one
of those operational in quarterbacks.

Speaker 7 (02:42:39):
He is?

Speaker 2 (02:42:40):
He just a definition of mid for being number one pick. Yes,
I can't think of any other way to describe him
as mid.

Speaker 5 (02:42:47):
There are sometimes that I watch him I go, man,
this guy is amazing, and then I watch him overthrow
receivers by seven to ten yards long. Any of the
playoff win he got, wasn't it four interceptions the first
half and for touchdowns a second like?

Speaker 2 (02:42:58):
That's Trevor Lawrence. I was gonna say.

Speaker 5 (02:43:00):
I mean, I'd say his second season was the one
that puts him in that category, because outside of that
he's not been good.

Speaker 2 (02:43:06):
But for being a one dash one mm hm. Not
a bust. But what's the next level above bust? Disappointment?

Speaker 5 (02:43:15):
Yeah, I think it's very easy to say that. Five
minutes up to go on the show, what should we do?

Speaker 2 (02:43:22):
We should play umcus fastest growing sports radio game show.
We simply call it be Believe It or Not?

Speaker 5 (02:43:30):
And here's hot work should call seven one three two
one two five seven NINTI seven one three two one
two five SEVENATI. Today's edition of Believe It or Not
is all things about the gentlemen that are in the
Baseball Hall of Fame Class of twenty twenty five. We'll
reduce statement about one of these three gentlemen statements completely
and utterly accurate.

Speaker 2 (02:43:47):
You'll say this believe it the same as Iernius Full
of ball come made up? You'll say this Nott who
believe it or not in a row win a prize.
Dan Matthews in the studio tells us what they win. Today.

Speaker 5 (02:43:57):
We are playing for Bunbee at the Houston Livestock Show
in Rodeo four pack plus pit passes to Monster GM
at NRG Stadium and the Great and Illustrious seven ninety
T shirt. Let's play Believe It or Not seven one

Speaker 4 (02:44:22):

Speaker 5 (02:44:23):
His first year on the Hall of Fame ballot was
in twenty sixteen, and Billy Wagner received ten point five
percent of the vote that year.

Speaker 2 (02:44:31):
Believe it or not?

Speaker 4 (02:44:32):
Believe it?

Speaker 5 (02:44:33):
That's why I leave it statement number two for the wind.
Billy Wagner was actually naturally right handed, but broke his
right arm twice as a youth and then went left handed.

Speaker 2 (02:44:42):
Believe it or not?

Speaker 4 (02:44:45):

to play. Believe it or not.

Speaker 5 (02:45:09):
Billy Wagner started three games his rookie year in the
major leagues and had zero starts thereafter. Believe it or
not not, that's right, never started a game. Statement number
two for the win. In two thousand and one, C. C.
Sabathia recorded his first major league baseball strikeout. It was
against Cal Ripken Junior, who was in his final major
league season.

Speaker 2 (02:45:28):
Believe it or not? Believe it No, you can scream
all you want, but you're wrong.

Speaker 5 (02:45:47):

offers from schools like UCLA and others.

Speaker 2 (02:45:53):
Believe it or not? Not, Believe it I'm sorry, Sharon.
If I've said it one said a thousand times.

Speaker 5 (02:46:00):
You gotta know which former baseball players were Division one
recruited tight ends. Let's go to Broderick on seven ninety
at seven one three two one two five Sevenani Brodrick,
you're ready to play?

Speaker 2 (02:46:12):
Believe it or not? C. C.

Speaker 5 (02:46:15):
Sabathi was the cover athlete for the Xbox game Major
League Baseball two K ten Believe it or Not?

Speaker 4 (02:46:23):
Believe no?

Speaker 2 (02:46:24):
Are you kidding me? No chance?

Speaker 5 (02:46:29):
Hall of good Actually no, he's a Hall of Fame.
The fact check that just to be sure. By the way,
why didn't you just made that up? Your No, he
wasn't the cover of it.

Speaker 4 (02:46:37):
Alright?

Speaker 2 (02:46:38):
Who was covered?

Speaker 4 (02:46:38):
You know?

Speaker 2 (02:46:39):
Twenty ten?

Speaker 5 (02:46:40):
That's got to be what it would be too late
for Jeter? Yes, Evan Longoria, Evan Longoria?

Speaker 2 (02:46:45):
How about that?

Speaker 9 (02:46:46):
Dave?

Speaker 2 (02:46:47):
On seven ninety day? Have you ready to play? Believe
it or not?

Speaker 4 (02:46:50):
I was born that way, let me go.

Speaker 5 (02:46:51):
Early in his major league baseball career, Ichiro was sure
to learn Spanish so that he could banter with Latin
