Speaker 2 (00:40):
These hands are gonna find that wig. You need to
You need to give a Friday sorry to that poor
young lady.

Speaker 4 (00:46):
Poor.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
First of all, she ain't young. Second of all of
that blue hair. Third, don't be hitting a fourteen against
four and we'll be fine. Terrible. I actually want to
apologize in advance. This is a little I'm sorry before that.
I'm sorry you because we'll be back on Monday and
I will be discussing something that went wrong this weekend.
Yes you're already, Yes, I'm anticipating the time we go

(01:09):
and play black check. Nobody plays perfectly. It's just as
likely to help us hurt you. You need to get
over it. Never I play the odds and you as
a stat guy should understand these yea, oh, I understand
that it's just as likely to help is hurt. Now now, yeah,
when then you and I need to get on a table,

(01:30):
and I will go against the rules every single time.
We'll see how we do. Okay, it's simple mathematic Google
dot com.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
I ain't googling it.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
I know because I've played forty nine million hands of
black chack. All right, I'm gonna bring it. I'm gonna
bring a notepad. Do they let you do that. I'm
gonna bring a notepad and the I'm gonna write down
as much as it helps its hurts. Okay, So let's
we'll do. I do get mad when I need a
ten and someone takes my ten. Yeah, okay, just feel
my pain. It's all I'm asking.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
Everybody doesn't like it. Everybody hurts sometimes, but sometimes they
take a six that that you didn't need. Okay, I
would say to back up your otherwise flawed idea, I
would say of the times that I go, oh my god,
what the hell are you doing? We went about twenty
five percent of the time, So there is a percentage,

(02:17):
and I won't deny. Okay, well, your percentage is made
up my percentage is real. I think you're making yours
up to I've talked to Oil about these things. Good morning, everybody,
ten o five on a Monday Friday edition of the show,
It goes Friday Editing goes for Friday. By the way,
what it makes people are out there? You all right?

Speaker 4 (02:38):
Do good?

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Okay, we got a busy show today. I thought you're
just blown some food off your microphone. Well that's gonna
happen too. Although today, let me tell you something. I
was gonna bring my lunch today and I forgot it,
and I went and got I went to a Rick
Ronalds and I got the steak egg bagel meal who
was classic, and I put the hash brown in the
middle of it. It's a huge meal. Put a hash

(03:00):
run in the middle of the sound. Yeah, oh yeah, wow,
that's a boss move. Actually, it's outstanding, and I actually impressed,
and I'm super full. You should will not be worrying
about yeah something at twelve thirty. It's just down about
twenty six calories. I don't even want to know. But Jonathan,
you're a Rick Ronold's fan too. I'm telling you. Do
you like steak? You like the thin stake They make there. No,
I've never tried it. You haven't had the steak bagel.

(03:21):
It can be the best thing they serve. Most of
the time, it is, but sometimes it can be the
worst thing. If you get one of those pieces of
steak with like the big calvan in the middle. They
give me extra onions and didn't even ask for them.
Love that, oh wow. Love the sauce. The bagel's a
little chewy. I'd rather than toast the bagel. But you know,
he can't be beggars here on this.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
No.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
I like it. I like it. Yeah, I understand what
you're saying, but I like the way it is too. Yeah,
it's It's just a lot of food, and I am
I'm gonna have to take a nap in between the
middle of the show, Okay, So can I take like
a half hour off? You go ahead, that's fine. Twelve
does like twelve thirty?

Speaker 4 (03:56):
Sure?

Speaker 2 (03:56):
No, no, no, I'm not going anywhere, no sha, any
of you because we're gonna excite We have a very
busy show today, we do. I'm very excited about it
me too. Rick Blue ten ten XL Radio in Jacksonville
will be on this program at eleven o'clock today, give
us a thought or two about the Jaguars. A vet
her in friend of the show. Oh, he he is
an I think that's been coming on literally for fifteen years.
I don't always an og, but he's pretty close. Yeah,

(04:18):
and it's funny you and I have never been on
their station. No reciprocate, No, what's that about? Um screwed
these guys whatever? So we got that. Okay, eleven thirty,
we're gonna apologize to people. You know what, I have
a sincere apology for you. Oh my god, this is
so exciting. We'll wake the strippers up today at twelve
o'clock twelve thirty. Dick Fane from KJUR Radio in siamtray,

(04:43):
Dick Faine, Okay, long time, you've better get all this
out of your chest. Off your chest really quick. Pepellari's arteries. Sorry,
go ahead. So Dick has been with KJR for a
long period of time. He's Softy's co host. Yeah, Saftie's
at a golf tournament. I'm sure he heard all the jokes.
So and we're not going to add to them because no,
I'm not. We're we haven't maturity have made one yet.

(05:06):
You've been thinking about half one when I just made sorry.
You know what, I'm sorry? Okay, good, because I don't
want to embarrass him or us. Oh, I'm writing down
what I'm apologizing to you about, so I don't forget okay. Uh.
And then we got Doctor Royal at one o'clock today,
plus non Florida stories and hell garon, how did you
hear a little bit of the uh Sean Salisbury Show

(05:27):
without Sean Salisbury today? Didn't catch us? So did you
guys hear who the potential and the lead dog is
for the halftime act? That's the next super Bowl, which
will be in Santa Clara Taylor Swift?

Speaker 4 (05:37):
Right?

Speaker 2 (05:38):
No, okay? Who I honest? If you can figure this
as you didn't hear it? Okay, female crooner crooner? Like uh,
you mean like from She's She's modern or she's nineties
two thousand, very modern, Ariana Grande way more in a

(05:58):
partner Carpenter noon. You know you're you're very cold. Adele Bingo, whoa, Okay,
what's wrong with that? That's fire at. Adele is a megastar, Maddie.
Adele's got them hits. Maddie, she can sing. She's not
a crooner. She's a powerhouse like Adele Matt. I'm not

(06:19):
on Adele. No, it's after nineteen seventy nine.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
Okay, okay.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
Who is Who is a current artist who released an
album this year? Who you like this year? Probably nobody,
but I will say I like the last three year.
Like I like listening to Miley Cyrus. I think she's
got a good voice. Okay, okay, I like Ariana Grande.
Some of Taylor swift songs I do like. I guess
I'm like, ladies, I'm infiltrated. You're talking about your daughter.

(06:45):
Oh man, my daughter and my wife are are major
Taylor or whatever they call swifties. So I'm i'm by default.
But I mean there's probably five or six songs cars.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
I like.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
That's good. I'll tell you this. My favorite Taylor song
is when she was a star but not a meg stars,
when she sang with Tim McGraw that duet, when she
was a country star and then she went pop. Yeah,
that's my probably my favorite tale. Yeah, country tailor. Now
it's time for pop music to make more money. Now
she's worth two billion. It was probably a good transition.

(07:15):
Uh yeah, the biggest pop star of the planet and
will be safely the most the biggest star in the
history of music when it's all said and done. Who
is it now? I have one name that popped in
my head of all time still Eve or no Dead,

(07:38):
Michael Jackson. That's who popped in my head. Michael Jackson, Elvis,
Michael Jackson, Elvis. I'm going to put her in that
category right now. I mean, I'm not saying I'm really
not going I would agree with I'm not saying you're wrong.
I'm just saying that's crazy. I think when when, when
the earth, when the sun burns out and we're done?

(08:00):
Uh huh, it be sooner than that. Son's got a
couple more billion. Okay, here we go. Jackson, who we're
talking about before, Elvis, Elvis, Taylor. I mean the Beatles
as a group, theout individuals. Yeah, I don't know if
I can put Paul by himself. I don't think I can.

(08:21):
I don't think I can. John was better. Shut up.
I don't think I can put Elton John or Billy
Joel No, maybe Prince No, even Princes Prince mad Prince
Prince is a better musician Michael Jackson. But Michael Jackson
was a more world famous. I think we're gonna keep
it three dude. Michael Jackson came out in the Super Bowl,
didn't say a word for like eight minutes, and then

(08:41):
people could. People wouldn't shut up. That's power, star power.
I really don't think I can ad anymore. I think
those three are just in that. I still got Michael one.
But yeah, Taylor's on the list. Maybe Shakira, no, you
go worldwide if he's that's actually not the craziest thing.
She's huge worldwide. She's not as big an as in
America anymore, but like South America and Europe, she's huge.

(09:04):
That said, maybe that's all I may like, you know
you maybe okay, So me not living around the world,
I can't necessarily argue, I mean whether or not. But
those hipstone line Maddy oh no, no, no, But Michael Jackson. Yeah,
Elvis has been dead for fifty years and people still
can't get enough of him. That's true. Michael Jackson's they're

(09:25):
never gonna stop waring playing Michael Jackson and Barry Manilow
Berry Manilo, I mean very he's a one A but
not on the one kind of No. I don't know.
I think it's I would not put I would not
even put close to Shakira. Well, you know who just
had a sold out worldwide European and American tour stadium tour,
Hedrick Lamar. Let me guess Hedrick Lamar, God's gifts the weekend.

(09:45):
I was gonna say, the weekend. Who are you talking about? Well,
Kendrick Lamar had one of those two. Okay, So if
we're gonna do groups, and this is very sports, He's
got a lot of sports going on here. Groups. I
would put the Beatles, of course, Rolling Stones, you you'd
put with the on that one on that one line. Yeah,
they've been doing stadium tours for the last sixty years. Yeah, Stones, Yeah, okay,

(10:08):
so Stones, the Beatles on the one line, and I
mean you have to be so awesome to be on
that one line. Yeah. That Eagle's a slight bit down
on that. I would say the Eagles down. I would
say led Zeppelin, No, because they broke up when John
Bonham died in nineteen eighty. Yeah, even tho. Led Zeppelin's

(10:29):
a better band than Maybe it's just those two. Maybe
just those two unless you want to put Queen but no, see, yeah,
because Freddie Mercury yeah, No, I don't think I can
put Queen on there. He died, but I mean I
don't think. Yeah, I mean, Queen's done well for himself.
All right, all right, there you go. Everything goes Friday,
eythink goes Friday. There it is all right. Hey, we
have a huge, huge sports weekend. Yes, and it works

(10:52):
out perfect. Like I said, Sunday, the Texans play at
twelve noon against Jacksonville, and then the six o'clock you
and I will be in the car coming back from
like we'll be a listening to Robert and Steve called
Game three of hopefully an Astrois sweep against the Mariners.
I don't even want to call it underrated. I don't
just don't know if maybe some people underrated road trip
baseball is amazing, you know why just listen to the
game on the road trip. The reality is we're gonna

(11:13):
be tired. Yes, we're not gonna want to have a
deep conversation between the four of us that are going No,
we're all gonna be mad because we lost money. Correct,
and I will be discussing the blue hairs that cost
me money on the side. Take a deep, deep breath
to Matthew Okay, I'm gonna make this solemn promise to you.
On Monday show, there will be no conversation about some
blue haired biddy that cost me money. And we will
wait till Wednesday for shut your bumbassa up, write that

(11:34):
down that that might be a possibility. Okay. Seven one
three two one two five seven on either there's anything
you want to get? You ross explaining really quick with
the essence if anything goes fine. Did you hear the
first segment we get the astros of the Big Series?
The Mariners were talking greatest all time artists. What else
we were talking? Anything you want to get to? Phone
lines wide open. You also all got Texans game number three. Uh,

(11:56):
teams don't normally start zing three and make the playoffs.
Big weekend for the Texans. Seven one three two one
two five seven ninety is the phone number seven one
three two one two five seven ninety Back on it.
This will get forty thousand people energized inside dyking Parks

(12:19):
downtown Houston. Always survive. Now listen to this, Jonathan. You
get to the crescendo. Guys, leave the dugout, run out
of the field. This song is being played in the
background m hm, it'll be a seven run day for
the local nine eleven. You shouldet shi hot if you

(12:43):
come down here and cover the series. It's not over,
is it? Ross Sports RV? And it will not be over.
I don't want to have to rock up anymore. Sorries.
There comes everybody, Get ready, get excited, Eggs Town. What

(13:11):
year is this? Eighty?

Speaker 4 (13:16):
This?

Speaker 2 (13:16):
Jamin and Johnathan? You kind of like it? That's kind
I want to hate on the pubble. You can't hate
on it. You can't hate on it. That's fine, all right,
anything goes Friday Sports Talk seven. Ettie Ross is holding
I mean literally holding the anger and disappointment in his.

Speaker 5 (13:35):
Core.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
His veins is a great song, Matten, and you have
great music choices like jazz Ross. That's kind of jazzy, right,
it was kind of jazzy. It's kind of janky. It's
yacht rock, the greatest genre. My god, Now that's rock.
It's so made up. There's no rules. Don't now you're
really trying to get me angry. I wouldn't do that,

(13:55):
all right. So how are we feeling about the series.
I'm a feeling Seattle, by the way, won two nothing
yesterday and can't to say. I listen to the radio
when I was in the car going to see my
mom yesterday, and I was getting aggravated lots of strike
threes taken by Kansas City hitters, lating games. Hitting coaches
did not do a good job. I am. If you

(14:15):
really want to get mad at somebody, get mad at
the Royals hitting coaches. That anger should go. H Okay,
so Vegas has today is a toss up. Brian Woo
versus Hunter Brown one minus one ten apiece. That's a
toss up. So let me ask you this and now again,
I don't want to read the minds of Vegas, but okay,
the Astros are a good home team, the Mariners are
a below average road team, and Hunter Brown's the ace.

(14:38):
That surprised me that there is so much lean if
you want to call it that. Towards the Seattle game, well,
Brian Woo has been their ace and they have a
better lineup. I mean, the fact of the matter is, yeah,
but they don't play as well. I mean they're they're
a porous road team. You know what they say, come
on down, come on down to the window. You disagree,

(14:59):
I'm not, you know, said, uh yeah, I'm with you,
I would have fail. I would have thought the Astro
would be favored too. They're saying, come down to the window.
If you think the Estros should be favored more so. Uh,
either way, it's a toss up. Uh, it would be.
I think it's it's important in a number of ways
to get this win. Because it's Hunter Brown, because it's
your ace, because it's the first game of the series.
You can set the tone. And tomorrow is just gonna

(15:22):
be a box of chocolates? Which fromber are you gonna get? Hey? Tomorrow?
We're betting the game tomorrow, right, don't you vants for
the second betting? Who put his head down with his son?
How did you see that? He is kicking see you? Now? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (15:41):
Damn it?

Speaker 2 (15:44):
We have to bet the Astros tomorrow. Well I know
I don't. Okay, Yes, good gambler knows when to stay away.
ESPN Predictor has the Astros at a fifty six point
fifty six percent favor to win the game tomorrow. No,
because I look if they if they if I bet
them and they and they win, I'll be happy. But
I'm gonna really be mad if I bet them and

(16:04):
Frommer blows up all right, here's what I'm gonna do.
You not yourself, what I'm gonna do in Houston, Texas
because I love you. I am betting the Astros to win.
And I'm going to spend one hundred dollars on the bet.
Uh to win one or to spend one hundred well, no,
to win one. So if I got to do one, ten,
I'll do that too. Whatever Jesus Christ. And they're not

(16:28):
gonna be that big of a favorite versus George. George
Carby has been struggling, but he also has owned the
Astros multiple times. Yeah, I'm just telling you I will
make I will print, I will get the copy of
the ticket, and I will put it on on Twitter.
So you know I have a financial interest in the game.
I think the first two are toss ups, and then
the third game you might give a slight edge to
Logan Gilbert over Jason Alexander. And so I say the

(16:53):
Astros win to ed of three. What's up? Okay, I'm
putting my money where my mouth is tomorrow night, one
hundred dollars win bet on rom Raveld does how we're feeling,
Let me taste something if he doesn't win for me,
tomorrow night and for us or Brian Brew or Brian
King or Steven Okert or who else we got left.

(17:17):
See you see who you're met. Now you know what
I don't care. Seven seven and two thirds strong for
Robert tomorrow. Well, okay, now you're getting crazy seven and
two thirds money money line win. That'll be a bunch
of props. You can bet any kind of fromber props
you want. I'm okay with that them, I'm stay away
from Okay. Well, yeah, I think his last eight starts
there Astros are one and seven and it's like a

(17:39):
six point four to one e R or something like
that to your Singer's a chance. Yeah, he's due for
a bounce back. Doug on seven Naughty and anything goes Friday, Doug,
what do you have today?

Speaker 6 (17:50):
This is it?

Speaker 7 (17:51):
Man, that's what That's what you got.

Speaker 4 (17:53):
Yep, that's the song that came to bring your mind
whenever you were thinking.

Speaker 8 (17:57):
About the astros.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
Oh, hell yeah, this is We got more songs to
get to it. We got we got about a little
van Halen right now, Oh we're gonna go with right now,
we're gonna play a little what else did you say
this minute ago? I don't count. We'll do that all that,
We'll have it, all of it knocked out between two o'clock.

Speaker 9 (18:14):
Okay, I just want to make sure in the air
tonight is in the in the in the playlist, duh.

Speaker 2 (18:19):
All of those are superior choices to this is it?
By the way, Aggie, Doug.

Speaker 10 (18:22):
Yeah, I mean like, I mean, you've got it.

Speaker 2 (18:25):
I mean I realized it.

Speaker 9 (18:27):
That rosy, artistic, creative.

Speaker 2 (18:32):
Here's the thing. Though I criticized his food choices, I
criticize the sports takes, I criticize the music takes, and
sometimes I just try to take it easy on him, Doug.
I can't criticize every every move the man makes. I
just feel bad.

Speaker 4 (18:44):
I get it.

Speaker 7 (18:45):
You got to moon lick a little bit to stay
where you are.

Speaker 9 (18:47):
But you know it is what it is. You know.

Speaker 4 (18:50):
Thank you, Doug.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
I have a wonderful weekend. I hope you're Aggie Solders.
But two touchdowns Auburn next week, Ray and Miami on
seven HOI, Ray, thank you for holding in. Good morning.

Speaker 4 (19:01):
It's got a good morning. I just want to say
about the Texans.

Speaker 11 (19:05):
I understand people keep bringing up the division record like
eleven and one or something on the road. I would
want them to look at just like one game, like
they're trying to at least get their first win of
the year. And I think a missing puzzle piece of
the puzzle with the It was the guy that he
hasn't played so much. I forgot his name.

Speaker 4 (19:25):
He broke his leg very much.

Speaker 11 (19:29):
We had him, We had him for the speed. You know,
they say, hey, no, the ride receiver that broke his leg.

Speaker 2 (19:39):
About Tank Dell, Yeah, Dell actually should be an It's possible.
He's the missing feel.

Speaker 11 (19:45):
Yes, he opened the feel like when we beat him
forty five or seventeen, there was tang Dale opening up
the field everywhere, and we don't have that. And you know,
Nico reminds me of Andre Johnson. He's big, but he's
not he can't open it up, you know, Tarik and
guys like that, And we lost step On. He can
open it up. But I think we may struggle, but

(20:06):
I think we're gonna get the first win in a
close game. And I'll hang up and cry, hang up
and cry, you got that right?

Speaker 2 (20:13):
All right? There you go?

Speaker 4 (20:14):
I like that.

Speaker 2 (20:16):
Oh man, Tank Dell is is is possible? I mean
it's not possible, it is he's he's a missing X factor.
But it's also like we don't know if and when
he's coming back and how effective he's gonna be when
he does. Didn't he like snap his females?

Speaker 4 (20:32):
I mean.

Speaker 2 (20:34):
It was like it was ligaments I never heard of.
Let me tell y'all you know how I feel about this.
Tank Dell is a Houston Cougar and he'll be a
Houston Cougar for life. That's right for life. Don't don't
count on Tankdale for NFL career. I'm sorry, he's just
the bill is not going to allow him to stay healthy.
It's just not And that's why he was a third
round pick. Maybe he was drafted a little higher than

(20:56):
he should have been. Well, somebody ran into his knee
when he was running full speed. Anybody's he would have exploded, understands.
But I'm just saying dislocated kneecap and torn acl who
I mean, God, God love him for his rehab. God
love him for the ability to get back out there
and not want to quit. But don't just trust me
on these things. And by the way, I have a

(21:17):
ridiculously hot take about the Texans coming out of the
break here ridiculously super sizzling, spitting hot, fighty hot fire
seven one, three, two, five, seven ninety, Ryan Davis and
James will be joining us along the way as well.
We will be talking to Rick Blue. I would say
a seven to eight guests og coming up yet eleven o'clock.

(21:39):
We'll do that after I tell you about what's happening
at Quality Home Products of Texas. All right, super hot,
take the time. Are you ready?

Speaker 4 (21:51):
ROSSI?

Speaker 2 (21:51):
This is as fiery as it gets. Hey, Ray, no,
here it is. If Indianapolis beats Tennessee, oh and Houston
loses to Jacksonville. Okay, there will be a new AFC
South champion week three of seventeen. Yep, okay, you're declaring

(22:19):
the now. By the way. Speaking of which, by the way,
how you feeling about you put your name on Astros
or Aos champs? Confident? Really confident?

Speaker 4 (22:31):
All right?

Speaker 2 (22:33):
I'm gonna p one hundred dollars behind it, Saturday, bitches,
so someth gonna do. I'm not just a fan. I'm
putting my money where my mouth is. What it sounds reckless?
It does sound reckless, all right, as so you I'm
gonna write this down, write it down. Okay, this is you,
are you not? Both things have a feeling. I don't
know what you want to You've put it in your
own category. I don't care, and I don't think. I

(22:54):
don't think I'm buy myself on this, Okay, I mean
I understand the odds will not be in their favor.
We play the odds here on the show. No speaking. Okay, literally,
one segment ago or two segments ago, you're telling me
about your own black jack. You're made up blackjack odds.
So let me ask you this. Okay, it's not the
crazies thing you ever heard in your life. Oh it's
not crazy. Okay, it's hot takey. It is hot takey.

(23:16):
That's what you would go on a first take. The
Texans had no chance of winning the AFC South now
that they're owing three. I didn't say they were going
to make the playoffs, although that would also be in
doubt as well. But you're not coming back from a
three game deficit. So by that logic, you're calling this
weekend a must win game for the Houston Texas. If
it's a must win that they want to win the

(23:37):
AFC South, Yes, I'm saying that. Okay. By the way
Molly Karen is off that first take show. Yeah, it's
a loss. That's probably the reason why I woke up.
Sometimes you only got up to look at Molly Karen. Yes, okay,
you don't think she's attractive. I didn't say she wasn't.

(23:58):
I just don't watch the show. I don't either, But
I mean, if I'm going to watch this because of her,
I mean, I don't care how nuclear hot someone is.
It's not gonna make me watch Steven A. And I
don't even know who he's barking at these days. Probably
Shandrick Perkins, the Shannon Sharp's off. He's off. It's not
who Kendrick Perkins, Kendrick Perkins and Cam Newton. He only
brings the hot takes during basketballs. Again, I'm good, Okay.

(24:19):
On the phones, we go on Anything Goes Friday at
seven one three, two, one two, five seventy. We will
check in with Rick Blue of ten ten XL Radio
in Jacksonville in about twenty minutes. Ryan on seven Honey, Ryan, Hello, Ryan.

Speaker 8 (24:32):
Heyyay, Oh yeah, I just want to start again. I
was I wanted to talk about this, but I'm going
to change gears here. But I'm gonna bring it up.
Kenny Loggins is an S tier level performer and he
deserves the respect that comes with that. Kenny Logins is awesome,
and I bet that'd be a wonderful super Bowl halftime performance.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
I let me take something I watched. Zero points zero
percent chance there is never it's never going to happen.

Speaker 8 (24:55):
I know zero.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
He you know what the thing is. One of my
greatest regrets, regrets in life was he was here first
farewell tour about six months ago, and I did not go.
That's what your grace life? Reds among them? Yeah, I've
got quite a few of them, actually he is. He's
seventy seven years old and a still can jam. I
mean he's got Kenny Longins has fifteen top ten hits.
I would think he's got some hits. He had all

(25:16):
the movie hits in the eighties. Right, he did, right,
he did, He knew what to do. He did all
right for himself. I mean, Logons and Messina was me
doing these, probably not financially a successful scanning loggage to
be honest with you, all.

Speaker 8 (25:29):
Right, Yes, the second part of this second part of this, Matt,
I believe in He got me ready to run through
a brick wall. Send me your vimo. I want to
match your best for the Astros tomorrow night.

Speaker 2 (25:40):
At Sports MT. You know where to find me.

Speaker 8 (25:44):
You got it, It's coming your way.

Speaker 2 (25:45):
Okay, good because I'll I mean, I'll you know, I'll
find you. I know, I know where you are, so
I'll find If anybody wants to do that, send it
to me. I'm putting.

Speaker 4 (25:51):
I'm putting my money where my mouth is.

Speaker 12 (25:53):
Let's go from bad from later.

Speaker 4 (25:57):
He does, gonna get us some money on Saturday night? Baby,
how I go?

Speaker 2 (26:04):
Sorry? What got into you today? I'm just feeling good.
I had the biggest risky. I had the big ass
bagel from Rick Ronalds. Yeah. Yeah, by the way, the
pressure went up for sure. Cholesterol everything's up. What by
the way, speaking of breakfast, uh So I landed late

(26:25):
on Wednesday from New York and guess what I saw
on will Clayton Bulevard headed back to the house. Homeless people,
Oh almost people buy the airport, that's all. Dean A.
Rim Rortins is opening up over there. There's a few
of them in here soon now there are, yeah, But
to have one as close as getting off the air

(26:46):
leaving the airport. I mean, isn't it just like a duncan.
It's exactly like a duncan, but it's just better.

Speaker 4 (26:51):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
Is it better because it's better? Is it better because
you don't have access to it? Probably? Yes? Okay, but
I'll say this, did you stop there or you say
it's being built? I don't know. I don't even know
if it's I saw the sign up, I don't know
if it was not. It was ten o'clock and ice
I may have been closed, but it's definitely there. So
if anybody's going to the airport and gone to rim Mortons,
let it let me know, because that coffee is m

(27:13):
You know, you're as trying to get me away from
raw Rocks that rim Mortens will get me away from rocks.
I'm not trying to get you away from it. I
just say it's mid. No, rim Mortons is not mid, okay,
just saying, let's talk to Davis and laugh.

Speaker 3 (27:27):
I had yo eviny laugh Davis, Budo, you're on seven
niney good buddy.

Speaker 7 (27:34):
Hey, I'm not Lafi yet.

Speaker 2 (27:38):
Oh well, so it says on the screen, so you
must be. You are Lafayette in my mind.

Speaker 7 (27:44):
Well, I wish I was there at the burge, but anyway,
I was wondering why no one's talking about every time
between innings Carlos Kreis has got a back bright song.

Speaker 2 (27:59):
I have not seen that. I have not seen it.
I don't deny that he doesn't or does not have it.
But my guess is, when you're a little bit older
and you want some support, the back brace is there
and playing.

Speaker 4 (28:10):
I got something problem. I don't.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
I don't get it. Like in the dugout he's putting
on like a corset.

Speaker 7 (28:16):
Yes, yes, every game if you watch him when they
turned to him, he's got a full course at on.

Speaker 2 (28:26):
I have not noticed that. I mean it would be
like maybe maybe uh you know an icing. You know
how baseball pitchers ice their arms during the game, maybe
the same kind of thing. I don't know. I mean
that is concerning. I mean he plays every day, Davis.
I mean I don't.

Speaker 4 (28:38):
I'm not.

Speaker 2 (28:39):
I don't feel like I should be worried about it.
It's been good at the play, yeah.

Speaker 7 (28:42):
But I've never seen that.

Speaker 4 (28:45):
Well, he just gets me worried.

Speaker 7 (28:47):
The way they hide our injuries.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
Well, if he was injured, he wouldn't be playing, so obviously,
it's not holding him back.

Speaker 7 (28:55):
Yeah, well check it out next time. Take a look.

Speaker 2 (28:57):
Thank you, Davis. We will wherever you are. David calling
from parts unknown, didn't want to call and talk rage
and Cajun football with us. Harold Austin O. First down
in ten, gonna throw nineteen yard? I oh baby, caught
that at the twenty seven. Get him a free bottle,
a bag of cracklings over there at Boodros Crackling Farm
right off I ten and the Highway forty four near

(29:22):
south of Fush. We play South of Fush pregame show
six forty five here on k Tibadeaux KTBD. Y Oh,
you know what, I Am going to do some small
town high school football before my career is done. They
have it here, I mean, I mean I We used
to carry games, remember I you know in my first

(29:43):
play by played job was in nineteen ninety one. Yes,
I did Tomball high school football. You were the voice
of Tomas, voice of Tombohoo. What's their mascot? The Cougars?
Oh wow? And we had very inventive guys, and we
had a bunch of local sponsors. One of them was
a barbecue restaurant that would give us free food, so

(30:04):
on the way for tom Ball home games, we would
drive by the place and then bring us a bunch
of food. We take up to the booth with us
and eat before the game. It was very, very nice.
And I remember we had one road game ian Nacadochis.
I thought it was a big deal. I get to
travel to go to a road game. And that's that's
end of my story. Okay, I was googling Carlo's Curry
back brace. I mean, I hope he's okay, mm yeah,

(30:32):
apparently the Twins were talking Twins. The Twins reddit was
upset about this four months ago, and and the Astro
are still trading for him. Yeah, and he's been good
since he's been since jowing the team. I don't I
guess I'm not concerned, but maybe I should be. Okay,
he's wearing a back brace in the dugout there. This
is five months ago from from Twins reddit. Okay, don't

(30:52):
go to Twins reddit. That could be a dangerous group.
I'm sure they're doing great. Seven one three two one
two five seven natis seven one three two one two
five seven audience and anything goes Friday. Those of you
on hold, please do not go anywhere. We will get
to you. It's anything goes Friday. We get you an
update on the Jaguars. We'll get you an update today
on the Mariners. We say our sories at eleven thirty day.
Oh yeah, we got these songs going for you. A

(31:15):
little van Haling for you. Hey man, he fast forwarded
the piano intro. It's the best part. Nobody wants to
I will say again, that's that's what makes the song dramatic.
I understand you fast forwarding in general, no production by it,

(31:36):
but I get you. But for this particular song, that's
what makes a song like a who used to use
this for everybody? For intros? Everyone, everybody big. It's a
very sportsy song. Yeah, here comes the chorus. Let the chorus. Okay,
near man, this is good right here singing there's there's

(32:02):
no tomorrow, Well yeah there is, and a Sunday good
trivia question. Okay, I have met Sammy Hagar or I
have met David Lee Roth. Which one of those is
to tell the truth? Sammy Hagar, what do you think, Jonathan?

Speaker 13 (32:20):
I have no idea who these two people are. Okay,
it's gonna be transparent. That's it, and you know what,
I'd rather be honest people.

Speaker 2 (32:26):
One, they're both different frontmen for Van Halen. One was
the original and then when it took over, then well
it took over.

Speaker 4 (32:34):
No.

Speaker 2 (32:35):
I met with Sammy Hangar at his bar. He's the
one that took over the original with David Lee Roth.
I thought it was Sammy Hagar first and came back. Oh,
now we're gonna be trivializing it. I don't know Van
Halen very well. I thought I thought David Roth was
the original. I thought it was Sammy Hankar, who's Now
we're gonna figure this out. Jesus, what's wrong with that?
Now I'm about to have three different callers coming. I
know they're like, oh, you guys are know, by the way,

(32:57):
what was I gonna tell you? Oh?

Speaker 4 (33:00):
Uh oh?

Speaker 2 (33:02):
The people are sending us. The back brace might not
initially a brace. It's probably just a back heater keeps
it warm. Whatever. He's staying loose. Yeah, I mean again,
it hasn't affected him, so why would we got another
We got enough fishies with people that have been affected
by injuries. Yeah, he's just you know, he's in his
thirties and you're sometimes your back hurts, especially when you
lifting people and carrying shows for song. Oh, then I

(33:24):
said out loud, my bad, And now I'm looking this
up with were we on this?

Speaker 4 (33:28):
I'm right.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
It's David Lee Roth. He was the first one, really okay,
So then he left and then came back. Oh that's right.
Eighty five Roth left the band, and then Sammy Hagar
came to replaced Montrose lead vocalist at the time. Yeah,
it's got Joe tell me this back in the back
of the head that you should know this. I don't know.
I don't think I should know anything. I mean, I
like the song, but I don't know histories of songs

(33:49):
of groups that was the case, I'd be very confused.
What I'd saying a word. I'm just hanging out and
replace music Jeopardy on the show.

Speaker 4 (34:04):
See I'm staying out of this.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
Yeah, I really, I really thought Sammy was the first. Okay,
but I saying corrected. I mean, you know what, speaking
my mistakes because guess what, I'm gonna come to your
work and I'm gonna see what you say to your friends,
and I'm gonna correct your mistakes. We talked for four hours.
We don't get everything right, But if you we were
all fair out of thought. I really did think Sam
was first.

Speaker 4 (34:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (34:27):
I mean sometimes you know, you get something wrong at home,
they don't have people call in. Yeah, but if you
want to come to my house and tell me I'm wrong,
I am. I Well, actually my wife can handle that
for me. Uh, James on Stevenatty, Hello, James, Yeah, we're still.

Speaker 9 (34:42):
Gonna have the three segments that Ross created while you
gave him the keys to the kingdom?

Speaker 2 (34:48):
What what?

Speaker 1 (34:49):
What?

Speaker 9 (34:53):
He created three segments while you were gone?

Speaker 4 (34:55):
He's living.

Speaker 7 (34:56):
You shut up forever, Matt Uh.

Speaker 9 (34:59):
He created take a chance on mock with Longhorn talk
it might be whack, but I'd bet on the mac
Holy Toledo another win, and in my favorite, he created
a road trip where we load up to Sports RV
and we go around to different college campuses. One segment was.

Speaker 7 (35:19):
Rouge did you really do that?

Speaker 9 (35:24):
There's a fat tat down on Cuhing with three and
oh but let's drive because they're not in the top
twenty five.

Speaker 2 (35:32):
You take your meds today, James, No, this is.

Speaker 9 (35:37):
Shadow forever.

Speaker 2 (35:38):
All right, We're done. I want to apologize for whatever
that trend wreck was.

Speaker 4 (35:43):
You know, what.

Speaker 2 (35:44):
I don't know where else with me and James had
beef like a couple of years ago, and uh now
he's being nice. So I appreciate you, James. James, that
was a horrific call. It wasn't good, but I'm glad
that we don't have beef anymore. Right, it was smooth
things over. You know what, I might have to apologize
of James coming up because we had beef. He was
talking about water, the Longhorn is going to make the playoff,

(36:05):
and then they made the playoff. Love you, James, great call, James.
You're completely different to me, Alan and Tomball. Hi. Alan, Yes,
I mean if you could get us off to be better.
I mean, you don't be like selfish or anything. And
it sounds like you're in a helicopter. Go ahead, right,

(36:30):
you know what you say? That's most important.

Speaker 14 (36:33):
So when y'all go to the Nuggets, do y'all play
mostly table or slot?

Speaker 2 (36:37):
I am zero percent slots. I will play slots if
I've had a few.

Speaker 14 (36:45):
Is there a particular one you like? Because I'm trying
to figure this out.

Speaker 4 (36:48):
Yes, will of Fortune.

Speaker 2 (36:52):
Let me tell you, Alan, if I was a slots player,
I would play wheel of Fortune. I love that game.
I am like a six year old and that the.

Speaker 4 (37:01):
Way the wheel spinning wheel spinny.

Speaker 2 (37:03):
Cause that's what I do when I'm at a slot machet.

Speaker 14 (37:08):
For the last time I played Black Jepher with my daughter,
I lost two about five seconds.

Speaker 2 (37:14):
That's it because you probably didn't play the rules right,
that's light work. Maybe I could do that in five
seconds too. By the way, you really want to lose
some money, out, bring ROSSI to throw dice at the cracks.
There's such a liar.

Speaker 4 (37:24):
You're wrong.

Speaker 2 (37:25):
He will lose you big money. Okay, I didn't play
crabs for you. That with you the last like twenty
five times you played crabs and then what'd you do?
Stop playing craps? Yes, so you're gonna blame me or
maybe you're the mush. I'm not the mush. Yeah, I'm
not playing that. You literally retired because you were losing
so much money and I did not play with you.

Speaker 4 (37:44):
So is it me or is it you?

Speaker 1 (37:45):
Maddie?

Speaker 2 (37:46):
Could could be a combination of both. Before the top
of the Armor coffee hitting man, I'm gonna get me
cut myself some Bring Warton's mike on seven OUTI hi Mike.

Speaker 4 (37:57):
Ti, guys, you don't happy Friday, same to you, Hey,
I got.

Speaker 15 (38:01):
I want to talk about pitching a contracts thickly Hunter.
So Hunter just turned twenty seven here in August, like
August twenty ninth, so he's a fresh twenty seven. Farmer
turns thirty two. He's thirty one right now. He turns
thirty two in November. Hopefully we'll be hab a world
serison on our belt by then. So there are full
five years apart, almost exactly four years, nine months or so.

(38:22):
So I was talking a buddy to mine, and one
one's got a picture, his son's a picture which I
don't want to vault right now. But he's talking about contracts.
We think Farmer is worth about three years hundred million,
no chance, and Hunter hold on here, and Hunter is
worth five years two hundred million, and we should get

(38:42):
Hunter like right now. So he'll be turning thirty two
when he got his contract. And the only reason we
wanted to keep Farmer around is because he's durable as hell.
I mean he yeah, he's had case.

Speaker 4 (38:52):
I agree.

Speaker 15 (38:52):
I know all the problems with Hunter, sorry Farmer, but
far far.

Speaker 4 (38:56):
Is durable as hell.

Speaker 2 (39:00):
He's a mental head case.

Speaker 15 (39:03):
I agree, But do you want a durable guy or
a head case over the Yeah, do you want a
durable guy that's reads the ball. I mean he's in
a funk right now.

Speaker 4 (39:14):
Put it this way.

Speaker 15 (39:14):
If he goes out in late to day Saturday night,
that's gonna be a huge problem. But what are you
gonna say come Monday morning? If he goes out and
you know, pitches two hit, one run ball and we win.

Speaker 2 (39:25):
I'll be very happy. But I'm not investing any money
in him. Thank you for the phone call fromber is
not getting thirty five million dollars a year. It ain't happening.
I'm not even good on math. It ain't happening. No,
he's a good thing. When the jose Ah Gentleman's bet
we made on his length.

Speaker 1 (39:41):
Of his Deal's The Matt Thomas Show with Ross Helloven No.

Speaker 2 (39:55):
Three in the morning here on Sports Talk seven to
ninety on The Matt Thomas Show with Ross, Matt Thomas
and Ross Veria with you until two o'clock. We got
a lot of stuff to get to big series with
the Houston Astros taking on the Seattle Mariners, tied atop
the American League West and also a big, a big

(40:18):
game coming up this weekend. You're Houston Texans taking on
the hated AFC South rival Jacksonville Jaguars. Right now, Rick Blue,
long time guest of the program. We appreciate him joining us,
always ready and willing to talk some Texans and Jaggs.
Rick Howard thinks, Matt, everything's great.

Speaker 16 (40:41):
I'm wondering why though you folks would hate Jacksonville if
you come here yearly and win.

Speaker 2 (40:47):
Okay, First and foremost, that was Ross. Okay, So Matt
was getting coffee. I was getting Rick, Rick, I was
getting coffee. First of all, you are always welcome on
the show. You are an og guest of ours. You've
been one of us probably at least ten years, and
for that we thank you. Listen back in the day
when you're doing national radios. That's such you respect I
have for you. So and then secondly, you're right, the
Texans love coming to Jacksonville. So let me ask you this.

(41:09):
Does your audience are they grumpy when the Texans come
to town they know that there's such a long streak
in favor of the Texans in this series.

Speaker 16 (41:16):
Well, first of all, my audience is grumpy to begin
with Okay, that's fair.

Speaker 2 (41:21):
Is this is the losing is.

Speaker 16 (41:22):
Franchise and team athletics over the last ten years. If
you look at the NFL, Major League Baseball, the NHL,
in the NBA, and you know, they go through coaching changes,
they go through front office changes, and you know, this year,
notwithstanding the roster, I think they had fifty four.

Speaker 2 (41:42):
Out of their ninety was new.

Speaker 16 (41:44):
And right now I want to say unofficially they have
twenty eight new players on their fifty three man roster.

Speaker 2 (41:50):
So yes, they're grumpy.

Speaker 16 (41:52):
They're extra grumpy the week here of Houston, and you know,
these stands are great, but I've described it as Houston
rolls in the dow ball. They beat the living tar
out of the man, and they steal the woman and
they drive back down to Houston or back over to Houston.

(42:12):
I guess I should say it's not down from here.
But you know, you catch my drift, and you know,
it's tough to separate fandom from players and coaches, because
players and coaches, when you change that fast, they're not
aware of nine of ten, but certainly the fans are.

Speaker 2 (42:30):
So you know, it's really somewhat of a conflict. If
you look at it that way. Well, I will say this,
I spent a lot of time and I'm Ross and
I are both big red zone guys and we love
watching it. And for some reason, your game was on
the red zone more than perhaps others was there today
Brinan kept throwing interceptions. I'm like, Jackson's gonna win this game.
They're you're really gonna win this game. And then the

(42:52):
receiving corps just dropped one pass after the other. How
How did the Jaguars lose that game in the night
last Sunday.

Speaker 16 (43:02):
Well, you know, it was really interesting being there watching
this game because you pointed it out. I mean, you
have a backup quarterback, you knock out Browning, and if
you just say your backup comes and he throws three picks,
I mean you win the football game. And that wasn't
the case. I mean, there were so many things that
went wrong for Jacksonville. I thought they should have taken

(43:26):
the three points to go up six.

Speaker 2 (43:28):
They didn't.

Speaker 16 (43:29):
They went for it on fourth down, Trevor Lawrence made
the right pass. Brian Thomas Junior dropped it. That's a
huge issue here in town. Brian Thomas Junior looks scared
there's something going on with him.

Speaker 2 (43:40):
We don't know if it's a personal situation.

Speaker 16 (43:43):
We don't know if he's jealous of all the attention
Travis Hunter is getting. We don't know if he does
not just like playing with Trevor Lawrence. He had much
better numbers a year ago with Mac Jones. But you know,
Jacksonville's defense has played some pretty decent football. Well then
all of a sudden, with three forty two to go,
they allow a fifteen play ninety two yard drive and

(44:07):
you know, it totally changed the outcome of the game.
When you needed it most, it didn't happen for Jacksonville.

Speaker 2 (44:16):
And that's been a huge.

Speaker 16 (44:17):
Problem for years here complementary football. At times the offense
does its job. At times the defense does its job.
They lost ten games last year by seven points or more,
and if you look at it, when the defense would
step up, the offense would fall. When the offense would
step up, the defense would fall. So that's something that

(44:38):
Liam Cohen's going to try to change. But yeah, it
was a very difficult loss. That is a game that
they flat out gave away. They outplayed Cincinnati, they should
have won it, and you know they had a ton
of penalties and made some mistakes and now they're one
and one on the year.

Speaker 2 (44:54):
You mentioned Liam Cohen who was supposed to come in
and kind of nurture Trevor Lawrence and help him reach
his full potential. What was your thoughts of the higher
when it was made in the now through training camp
and seeing a couple of games on the field on
the field, of how he's doing with Trevor Lawrence on
that offense. It's better than I expected.

Speaker 16 (45:15):
I mean, I had heard a lot about Liam Cohen,
but I really wondered about his you know, stability, and
he never stays in one place too long. He went
back and forth to la and Kentucky, then took over
a Tampa Bay offense, and you know, it was just fantastic.
They would number one in red zone, they were lasting
rushing three years ago. He came in there and put

(45:37):
him in the top four in rushing. But when they
got here, they totally you know, redid Trevor Lawrence. You
give a guy two hundred and seventy five million dollars
and then all of a sudden you hear that they're
working on changing his footwork and everything from literally you know,
top the bottom changed for Trevor Lawrence. Now, I really

(45:59):
think this offense is going to benefit him, and the
key is will they be able to still run the football?
But I mean, this just feels like they started from
ground zero with everything here in Jacksonville.

Speaker 2 (46:13):
And that includes Trevor Lawrence, who you.

Speaker 16 (46:15):
Know, once again you look at his numbers, he's twenty
eighth and completion percentage, he's twenty seventh in quarterback rating. Granted,
there's been nine drops, and I think that's kind I
think they're double digits into the drops.

Speaker 2 (46:31):
I still think that this is going to work.

Speaker 16 (46:35):
I believe that Liam Cohen is the right guy for
Trevor Lawrence, and it's going to take a little bit
of time, but you know, we'll be here to see
what actually does happen. But yes, I'm impressed totally with
what I've seen with Liam Cohen. But you know, the
other side of it was no one else was interviewing

(46:56):
Liam Cohen, no one else was interviewing James glad Stone.
You know, they were guys that were certainly lured here
and wanted here, but they weren't wanted with those other
vacancies across the NFL.

Speaker 2 (47:11):
Rick Blue tinton XL in Jacksonville with us here on
Sports Talk seven to ninety here in Houston. Obviously, the
offensive line has been much maligned and talked about in
the pressures on CJ. Streu, but the defensive line is
one of the best units in football. How would you
assess the trenches on both sides for the Jaguars.

Speaker 16 (47:31):
Yeah, it's gonna be a lot of fun there. I
think this game is won in the ditch. You know,
they brought in six new offensive linemen here, Tony Bucelli
taking things over with James Gladstone. They played really well
so far. They lead the league in rushing. They've only
allowed one sack, and you know it's the passing offense
that really needs to pick up a little bit. Defensively,

(47:54):
Anthony campaneily has come in and really changed a lot
of things.

Speaker 2 (47:57):
You're told you can't it's Joe Burrow.

Speaker 16 (47:59):
Well they did last week and their blitz rate is
has really gone up. I think every layer certainly does
have a playmaker. The concern for Jacksonville would be the
middle of the field safety. They say goodbye to Darnell Savage,
so you know, Anthony campan neeally's played an awful lot
of three safety looks more than twenty plays a game,

(48:22):
and you know, he got rid of a guy who
played twenty eight plays against Carolina and twenty plays against Cincinnati.
And now all of a sudden, you're gonna put in
Antonio Johnson, who's taken one snap in two games there
at safety. So you know, I think it's gonna be intriguing.
I think the Jaguars will have some success against Houston's

(48:42):
offensive line with Walker and heinz Allen, and you know,
I really think the key to the game will be
who's able to run. I know Houston struggled so far
this year without Joe Mixon and Jacksonville's done very well.
It could come down to that. I mean, forever I
covered Florida State, Miami was something like thirty two out

(49:06):
of thirty three years and that rivalry, who ever rushed
for the most yardage won the game. And I kind
of look at this one on Sunday as that statistic
being huge. Whoever was able to rush the football more
I think's going to win this contest.

Speaker 2 (49:24):
Last question, how much is on the east side of the
ball as Travis Hunter playing right now? And what do
you think if we were to visit you in late December,
what do you think that the split would be?

Speaker 16 (49:34):
Forty two plays on offense both weeks. He only played
six plays on defense against Carolina, Jarion Jones went out
with a back injury. He played forty three snaps against Cincinnati,
so he went from six to forty three on the
defensive side. Parker Washington has had an incredible camp and

(49:54):
they did not target him against the Panthers. They did
so five times on Sunday against the Bengals, five for
five for seventy six yards.

Speaker 2 (50:02):
Parkner Washington has earned more snaps.

Speaker 16 (50:05):
I think this game with the Jones injury, Buster Brown
looks like he's going to come back, but he hasn't
played at all this year. I think this is a
Sunday where we see more snaps for Travis Hunter on
defense and less snaps for Travis Hunter on offense. That
would be intriguing because they said from day one that

(50:26):
it was going to be seventy five percent offense twenty
five percent defense for Hunter. But I think it's a
fluid situation and this would be the week that I
expect him to play more on the defensive side.

Speaker 2 (50:38):
Great stuff, My friend. Thank you Rick for joining us
this year in previous years. I hope to bother you
again down the road and uh we enjoy hit you
having on the show and have a great weekend. Thanks
for joining us, never to bother have a great weekend.
Thank you again, Rick Blue ten ten XL in Jacksonville
appreciate the time as always. I wonder how Jackson I've
never asked this. Do they Their Jaguar is ninety percent

(50:59):
of time? Right? Maybe? So, I wonder if it's a
big Gator Florida GA. It's closer to Florida, okay, because
Tallahassee is closer to the PANHANDLEKA. But I mean, I
wonder what it's gotta be big Florida country. I would imagine, Yeah,
I don't know. I guess we could have asked him.

(51:21):
We're more than we are Texas, right, but we're not
really a whole lot of anything, what you know what
I mean. We don't get into deep dives into college
football stuff. We just don't. I don't think any show
in town does.

Speaker 10 (51:32):
Now.

Speaker 2 (51:33):
Dallas is more of a Texas town. And then I
guess I think we're more of a huge or any
I think it's pretty close. I think it's for example,
I think wow, but I don't know.

Speaker 4 (51:40):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (51:41):
I just guess him. That's fine. All right, Hey, we're
gonna say some Sorry, he's coming up a bottom of
a people like futility and losing. They don't have that
with University of Houston. Off to a three and oh,
start baby, going crush Oregon State four and oh, it'll
gonna be text tech you five and oh, and then
we're gonna start thinking about the c FP. Baby, let's
go eleven fifteen, Sports Talk seven eight. I'm sorry, in

(52:02):
just fifteen minutes, right on time, great job, all right
seven one three, two one two five seven ninety It
is the Astros and Americas will get more on that.
Dick Fane's gonna join us from kJ R, Seattle in
one hour from now, working with a seven year old

(52:26):
over here. I didn't do anything, you smirked. No, I didn't.
If we were on TV, people would see your smirk.
That's not true. I didn't do anything. I'm just sitting here.
I'm sitting here talking on the radio. Yes you are.
We're doing a very effective job, at least the first hour.
I'm trying. All right. Uh, well, sir cal Rawley, head hand,

(52:54):
slow down. Yeah, probably, I'm going to get rid of
a misnomer out something that happened at the All Star Break.
You know what, you want to be in the All
Star home run competition. It's okay because cal Rawley was
in it, and he's doing just fine. See what did
I tell you? You're not running apt everything. But there
have been some guys that have gone in sums. But

(53:15):
we have seen a tray. There's no causation. There can
be correlation. And I'm saying that I'm going, okay, I
buy it, now, buy it. I'm not okay. I wasn't
like saying I've got no doubt in my mind proof.
I'm just saying that I didn't like it. I'm turning.
I'm kind of changing opinion. Rally doesn't seem to mind.
He's doing all right. Maybe it even sharpened him up.
I don't believe that. I just don't think it hurt him. Yeah,

(53:36):
a couple guys slumped once, like I don't know, ten
fifteen years ago or whatever, and then became a narrative.
He's doing okay. He's got one hundred and eighteen runs
back in and fifty six homers. He's the MVP of
the league. Don't you say that to Yankees fans? O
Aaron Judge? Uh, how's Aaron Judge doing?

Speaker 4 (53:57):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (53:57):
Wait, I think it's voter fatigue. I think Aaron Judge
is the better player overall and having the better season.
He doesn't have as many home runs, but he's Okay,
what you want me to do? Player comparisons to ops
and that's about it. You already mentioned one hundred and
eighteen r old war nine five ops for cal Raley.

(54:19):
Aaron Judges is over eleven hundred. Ooh, maybe then it
isn't It isn't a eleven twenty nine forty eight home
runs to fifty six advantage rally one hundred and four
runs batted into one to eighteen wins above replacement eight
point seven for Judge, six point seven for Rally. So

(54:42):
the question is going to be the among the voters,
how metrically driven will they be? And my guess is
today's voters are significantly more metrically driven than they were
so they have been twenty years ago. That's how Mike
Trout kept winning MVPs on bad teams, and deservedly so.
The best player in Baseball ops plus Matt of course,

(55:02):
you know, one hundred is league average one at sixty
eight for cal Raley, two hundred and ten for Aaron Judge.
It's Aaron Judge. I'm sorry, Carl Rally is a great story,
but you know what you've given the numbers that make
it not even. I mean it's close, but it's not
that close. Yes, but we also know writers like narratives literally.

(55:26):
But Judge's not a bad guy, no, but I mean
cal Raley's the better narrative. Aaron Judge being excellent. We're
used to. He's won multiple MVPs, Kyle Rally not necessarily
coming out of nowhere. He's been good, but he hadn't
been this good, and he's having an historic season from
the catcher position. If you want to give him the
extra benefit of the doubt because of that position that

(55:47):
he plays, and how er is on your legs, I
think you can do that. I don't I if you
want to, because it's the MVP. It's he's playing a
more difficult position he doesn't have I mean, does he
I mean Suarez is added to the team. Uh, they
had a new first. Taylor has been add Luodriguez is
one of the best center fielders in baseball. Randy Rose Arena,

(56:10):
I got great pitching, and they're not well, they're not
alone in first place right now, but neither are the Yankees.
Yankees aren't going to finish in first place. They're three
back of.

Speaker 4 (56:18):
The Toronto.

Speaker 2 (56:23):
I would hope if I had a vote, I wouldn't
vote for somebody just because I was tired of him
and or I didn't like the team. But frankly, it
does happen because here's the thing, you and the NBA.
You could have given Lebron James seven or eight MVPs
in a row, and I thought twice about it. He
should have won ten in a row. Michael Jordan should
have won about twelve in a row, and you just
get voter fatigue and like, you know what, this guy's

(56:45):
got his MVP, so, oh wow, this guy's a new story.
Let's say, for example, I'll give you one Derek Rose
winning in like twenty eleven. Lebron James was better than
Dereck Rose.

Speaker 11 (56:54):
Was that?

Speaker 2 (56:54):
And honestly, who has gathered more headlines in baseball? Caro
Ralely or Aaron Judge And the answer is Caroraly. The
answers probably cal Raley. But yeah, it's it's close ish,
I mean forty eight home runs and eleven hundred he is.
I mean, Aaron Judge is going for a batting title
right now. He's hitting three twenty eight with power. I'm
gonna assume his strikeout numbers have dramatically decreased. Am I

(57:16):
right about that? I thinks, Well, let me look, I'm sorry,
I'm just trying to look at cal Rally's now. Batting average,
of course is a little archaic, but cal Rally's hitting
two forty seven. Aaron Judge is hitting three twenty eight. Yeah,
I mean, it is what it is. It's it's Aaron Joe.
She's still striking out a ton hundred and fifty four
strikeouts for Aaron Judge. So basically, if Aaron Judge doesn't

(57:39):
get on base, it's because he's not getting past home plate.
But one hundred and seventy four strikeouts for Kyle Rally
so and sluckers are and sluckers arena actually gona have
a high strike jack count twenty six percent for Caylelly,
strikeout twenty four percent for Judge. Aaron Judge. John On
seven eleven, twenty eight. Hi, John, Hey, are you doing good?

Speaker 4 (58:02):
Hey?

Speaker 10 (58:03):
You gotta you gotta.

Speaker 17 (58:04):
Consider Aaron Judge in the playoffs before you jump to
these conclusions.

Speaker 2 (58:08):
No, it's a regular season awards, John, it's a regular
season award.

Speaker 4 (58:15):
Wow.

Speaker 17 (58:17):
Okay, But I would not take Jaron Judge over your
your catcher that you're talking about. I mean a lot
of extraordinary there. Rally.

Speaker 2 (58:28):
Yeah, okay, yeah.

Speaker 4 (58:30):
No, we're talking.

Speaker 2 (58:31):
We're debating two guys. We're debating two guys for a
twenty twenty five regular season award. That's what we're discussing.

Speaker 17 (58:39):
Yeah, okay, Well, you know, I don't know. I guess
playoff appearances in the past don't count.

Speaker 2 (58:44):
They do not. And you're right, Aaron Judge has been
great postseason. How ear is hitting two twenty seven in
his playoff career. Yeah mean yeah, I was gonna say no.
Mariner has been worrying about their playoff numbers and they
had much of it.

Speaker 4 (58:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 17 (58:58):
I don't worry about Judge of the player, I really don't.
I mean, he's just every year he just he bombs
and I don't know, you know, maybe one time he'll
have a breakout or something. But I mean, so far,
it's been pretty pretty hard to watch.

Speaker 2 (59:13):
Yeah, well, John, we're not and thank you for the funk.
We're not trying to decide which player we want on
our team. We were discussing literally the MVP race. Aaron
Judge does strike out a lot, and when he's going
up against the best pitchers in baseball, he does strike out.
It seems like the strikeout numbers go up, especially we've
seen that in the playoffs. And my guess is Aaron
I don't know Aaron Judge's per numbers. It would take
me one second to figure it out. But if you
were to say, in your mind, do you think of

(59:35):
Aaron Judge being a clutch postseason hitter, my answer would
be no to that. And he's come through clutch some
but not a ton. He does have sixteen home runs
in the postseason, but they've been in the postseason a
lot of reasons. That is in fifty eight games. Sixteen
home runs in fifty eight games.

Speaker 4 (59:51):
It's still prety good.

Speaker 2 (59:52):
But okay, if you played it over one hundred and
sixty two, he'd be at about or forty I get
you the exact number, forty four point seven. That's but
a two zero five average with a seven to sixty
eight OPS. But breaking news numbers. Overall numbers generally go
down to the playoffs because you're you're playing up against
the best pitchers in baseball, and Jeff Bagwon Cuigbijio did

(01:00:12):
not argue with that at all. And Jose al Twove's
career OPS is lower in the in the postseason than
it is in its regular season, but again because Jose
has been so awesome in a postseason. Generally speaking, he
is the best greatest aster of all time yet being
the worst run base runner of all time. And sometimes,
like in twenty twenty two, he's completely horrible and it's
a team game and then they win a World Series. Yeah,
but most time it's been he's been a big help,

(01:00:33):
all right. Eleven thirty one. Time for us to say
you're sorry, Ross is gonna apologize to me now for what?
Oh you said? You wrote it down. You're right, I forgot.
If there's anything you want to apologize for, it like
being forgetful or like Jonathan forgetting to give away Little
Wyne tickets. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday on the show, That Was Me,
That Was Me, That was Me. By the way, I
lied career ops eight forty one for Josel Twova in

(01:00:56):
the postseason eight twenty six. In his regular career, he's
been great. Sometimes he's not, though, the greatest of them all,
but by far the worst place runer I've ever seen
of a future Hall of Famer seven one, three, two,
one two five, seven nineties. Say some sorries. You apologize people.
We're doing it next year on seven ninety before we

(01:01:18):
get time. Sorryes we got some breaking news. Now I
don't even know what I get news. Okay, it's definitely
at least two. Is at least another one.

Speaker 4 (01:01:26):
That's two.

Speaker 12 (01:01:28):
You know what, It's a huge weekend for the Astros.
Let's go three, baby, man. Guess what it is? Yeah,
you could probably guess it. I think you saw it.
You're on your phone the whole break. No, I don't
know you. Peris is back. Yeah, it's correct.

Speaker 2 (01:01:40):
Brian McTaggart veran McTaggart to a million McTaggart. He will
join me on the Astros on Deck program around six
fifteen tonight. He is first on the scene. I believe
Esak paradis expected to be reinstated from the IL tonight
by the Astros and be available for a huge series

(01:02:00):
against the Mariners. And I'm gonna presume that at that
point it would be uh jord, I'm going on the ael.
I would imagine there is no corresponding move related at
the moment, but Essik paratus reinstated and available for the Astros.
This is insane, Okay, so I gotta take an l

(01:02:22):
on this. I thought there was no chance. So let
me put it this way. We sometimes say, as sports hawk,
I'd rather sports talk host. I'd rather have something percent
of somebody than one hundred percent of somebody else. Yes,
we are literally getting sixty percent of escik Priadi's bank.
He's he's gonna be instructed to jog on the base pass.

(01:02:44):
They're gonna put a governor on him. I'm getting worried
from Major League Baseball. Dana Brown is asked if there's
a designate runner rule gonna put in place for this weekend.
I think he's gonna be wearing. Also, sources say he's
gonna be wearing Forest Gump leg braces. That's messed up.
Hold on, I'm getting more word from my I'm in
for it. No, he's not allowed to use a crutch
of the plate. It's only bad and bad only. Okay,

(01:03:07):
I mean, I am, I get, I'm certainly excited, but
I'm very my expectations are minimal, and I'm saying that
at the very least. Can I tell you another angle
of this too, that's potentially worries. I remember his hamstring

(01:03:27):
probably torn off the bone. We don't know that for
a fact, that they never told us that. But when
he pulled up lame in that series months ago and
was like I can't move, I can't walk. Get me
to a hospital fast, and then all of a sudden
a shot was supposed to fix this and in time. Okay,
let's go Ross. What are you thinking? Well, shots do work.

Speaker 13 (01:03:48):
Though I will say those those shots they did take
does help a lot with the recovery.

Speaker 2 (01:03:53):
What I would I would say, faction entity or I
guess staff of the Houston Astros has been under a
lot of fire in the twenty twenty five. So that
of course would be the marketing team. No, that of
course would be the tickets to the hitting coaches. Yes,
but as far as you know what you know where
I'm going with this, finish the training staff, the medical staff.

(01:04:16):
If he gets re injured, and all these players have
come back and gotten hurt, and the every pitcher's got
elbow inflammation and everyone. And I'm not talking about us necessarily.
I'm just talking about the fans and how the training
to medical staff has been under fire basically all year long.
If he comes back years, by the way, and if

(01:04:36):
he comes back and he gets he re injures himself,
is going to be like pitchforks storming Crawford in Texas.
All right, mag give you the opposite angle of this. Okay,
If he comes back and is somewhat successful and can
be that DH pinch hitter whatever he's going to be, well,

(01:05:00):
then we hear thank you to the medical staff for
bringing him back and getting him back on the field
and competing when most people said he would be unavailable
to play the rest of the season. I don't think
we'll hear that. I don't think either. You know how
it is, you don't get credit when you do your job.
But if the training staff's like in front of Jim Cranling,
Jim's like, why should I keep your asses right here?

(01:05:21):
Well look what I did, freesyc Paratis, This is interesting.
This is real interesting and I hope that it just
popped into my mind. I'm not all right. I'm I
want East Parades to be good, good to go, don't
get re injured, everything work out, hit a couple of
home runs, We're all good, right, right right, I'm going
to ask the medical staff, and I've never met any

(01:05:42):
of them before in my life. Yeah, they probably should
put for you for sale signs in front of their home.
They brush up to LinkedIn, They they need to be
cleaned out. It's it's there's too many things, too many issues,
too much to go. Oh my gosh, this has been
such a terrible coincidence of a season. The optics look horrific.

(01:06:07):
And Jim Crane is he's a salesman and his sales
and if he doesn't do anything, it gives off the
impression that quote unquote, this is fine, we're doing maintaining
the status quo is okay. You don't have how many
players have been the Andre Loos this year up to
nineteen nineteen, how many season enders? A half dozen, seven,

(01:06:29):
eight nine. I mean, are you really going to tell
me that everything was done as precautions to make sure
these players were never going to go through this now
again there are season enders in sports. There are, but
it just feels like it's been a terrible, terrible two
year stretch that even a Parretta's return cannot save their bacon.

(01:06:49):
I mean, they didn't put Paradus's hamstring off his bone.
Jeremy Panny got hit by a pitch and he got
a rib injury. I mean, the hand thing for jord
On is certainly questionable, but he was fine, and then
he twists his ankles sliding on home plate. That's a
freak accident. If I'm if if the trainers are losing
their job, they're losing it because of the Kyle Tucker

(01:07:10):
whatever the hell that was, and they're losing it. I
think in part because of the Ordon Avarez situation. They're
losing it in part because of the Jake Myers long return.
Now Grant that was also a previous general manager. So
maybe I don't know. I just I think sometimes you
I just can't. I can't, Rossie. I cannot believe that

(01:07:32):
everything was done by the book when you have so
many different players, of so many severe injuries the last
couple of years. Yeah, I'm just gonna say I don't
have a medical degree. I wasn't looking anybody's chart, so
I don't know, but you're you are correct. You are
correct to say that there have been questionable handling of injuries,
and there have been a lot of injuries piling up. Now, Brenda,

(01:07:52):
you were singing us a very lovely song, were you not? Brenda?
Kind of here she goes just you know, Brenda is there,
she is. Okay, we're gonna go to break. But Ross,
I want you to tease what you're sorry about?

Speaker 4 (01:08:08):
What do you mean?

Speaker 2 (01:08:09):
I gotta I gotta say multiple sories, and one of
them is directed towards you. That's next. Yeah, one, sem,
we got a shorter segment here to do. I'm sorry.
We had to bring up the party's news, which is big. Yeah.
Seven one three seven ninety seven one three seven. If
you want to say sorry to somebody, let's hear from
you right now. You got one seven. So get in
here right now and apologize quickly as possible. Eleven forty

(01:08:37):
on Sports Talk seven ninety Ross, you've got some apologies,
so let's go. You know what, Matt, you did Robert Redford,
believe it or not, yesterday? Yeah, and.

Speaker 4 (01:08:51):
I uh, I.

Speaker 2 (01:08:52):
I wasn't as a glowing in my praise for your
questions as I should have been. Mm hmm. You wrote
some nice ones, yeah, and I tried to downgrade him,
especially the ones that I got wrong correct, because I
can be competitive, Yes, like it isn't to tell the truth,
johnn bite me up on that. Well, usually your takes
are bad when I get that wrong. A different story
for a different time point, well taken, but anyways, and

(01:09:16):
oftentimes proved wrong. Yeah, when I disagree. But anyways, you
know what, I'm sorry about that too now, and I'm
sorry for not heaping as much praise as I could
have on your wonderful believe it or Not questions. I
will tell you this, thank you very much for the apology.
I went to see my mother yesterday. She's had some
more surgery yesterday a couple of days ago, and we

(01:09:38):
went and played Believe It or Not and it was
quite a hit. And then went to dinner with my
family after that and we played Believing or Not on
that too. They thought the Robert Redford questions were good
and I got they got them wrong eighty percent of
the time, which means a win for me and for you.
It's great. By the way, Hell y're out today all
things about Clayton Kershaw today. At one point me, yeah,
he's retiring. Okay, you're right in that. No, what do

(01:09:58):
you mean you did so great? I'm busy, Matt. I
just said you do so great. You should write some
more if you want me Tovo. Yes, John, I'm not
gonna do it, though, you'll do it today. Uh, Jonathan,
what are you apologizing for? Come back to me? Hold on,
all right, you know I'm gonna apologize to us an
Astros please. I literally made I've been making more videos

(01:10:21):
Matt on my Instagram at sports RV where you can
check them out. Yeah, if you want to see Ross's
head in eight different shots at sports V, it's one.
But I understand how that confuses you with your blurry vision.
At sports RV on Instagram. Literally last week this was
Jordon went down or was it Jordon had gone down? No,

(01:10:44):
ordn't even go down there after that, it just everybody
was getting hurt. Everybody had elbow inflammation. And I was
just sitting there at Brian a bray was falling apart
at that time, and I was like, it just doesn't
feel like it's the Astros year. And it still kind
of doesn't as far as making the World Series and
stuff like that. But since that time, they've won five
out of six games. So I want to apologize to
the Astros. So Soudy, I didn't think they would be

(01:11:10):
able to sweep the Rangers the way that they did.
You face Kelly and de Gram and you sweep that series.
Impressive stuff, you Ston Astros. Sorry for doubting you. I
got news for you. I have been a gentleman this week,
so I will not apologize. First of all, you're calling
a nice old lady a B word multiple times and
sick her wig off. I think he said right, you

(01:11:31):
said you wanted to split her wig Now I might
have to do double sorry's next Friday. If the bitch
is at the at the UH at the casino this week,
you know what, I'm gonna find her and call her
and I'm gonna bring her to your table. No, you're not.
You canna apologize to her. Not gonna happen. You need
to apologize to math for believing it's not as likely

(01:11:52):
as they're gonna hurt hurt as help you? Then why
have the car to begin with? Then why play the odds?
You help yourself. You're helping yourself. It doesn't affect other people.
She not hitting a fourteen against a four where I
would have been tending to get me twenty would have
helped me. Shut your boss up, not you her. Sorry,

(01:12:12):
thank you, that's what you meant to say, exactly. I'm sorry.
Tell you're not listen to me. This is a this
is not even it's not even rowan. I'm sorry to
all of you that waste your time with fake media,
that have YouTube pages that were telling you how awesome
Nick Haley is going to be and that Bobby's look
was the anti Christ. Those people owe you, and I'm sorry,

(01:12:35):
I'm sorry, but they're out of work and have no talent,
so it's not that big of a deal. Continue on,
you know what. I am sorry to those people. Of course,
yes they're not as famous, talented, or celebrated as Matt Thomas,
but they're trying to carve out a career for themselves. No,
they're losers training off of something they have no talent for,
and so you know, they're shooting their shot and they're missing.

(01:12:58):
They're chasing their dream, they're getting eleven dollars checks from you,
they're they're trying their hardest, and they're there and they
want interviews with Hannah and Indian Hamburgers with cal Big
BFD and they want to make a name for themselves,
and they're not going to do it because they're giving
you bad information because I wanted they want to be
their chier leaders. Let me tell you something. I give
you Texans analysis. I break news first and foremost. Secondly,

(01:13:20):
I told you that Miami was going to cover the
eleven and a half, and they did yesterday. I am
an NFL analyst and a Texans insider that they did.
So I'm sorry those people who are just trying to
live their lives and chase their media dreams, and then
you can just get downgraded on this show because they're
not doing the right way, so we all can't. How's

(01:13:43):
the right way? Matt Thomas working hard and actually being
objective and fair, not being water carriers for teams. Just
like that. That's it. You see you see you see
the mic drop harras, what's that that? Seven on three

(01:14:04):
seven ninety Oh. By the way, I need to own apologize.
I took a picture of myself on the plane the
other day and the woman behind me was sleeping. I
didn't realize it until after I took the photo, but
I still posted on Twitter.

Speaker 4 (01:14:19):
You did?

Speaker 2 (01:14:19):
Did you delete it?

Speaker 6 (01:14:20):
No?

Speaker 2 (01:14:21):
I didn't see that.

Speaker 9 (01:14:21):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:14:21):
It's not against the WAW to sleep on a plane.
I think you got I got you mostly weeded out
of my algorithm. That's fine. Let's uh talk to uh
Gary in Spring. Gary. Man, this lady is knocked out.
She is sleepy. I was just putting the work in
ROSSI Hi Gary.

Speaker 7 (01:14:39):
Oh, hey guys, a great show.

Speaker 18 (01:14:41):
You guys were very well together.

Speaker 4 (01:14:43):
Thank you very much, real good INRT thing.

Speaker 18 (01:14:45):
Uh My apologies is going to be to the city
of Houston for all the hard working people that work
all week long and they buy Astros tickets and they
want to go have a good time of cold beer
and everything, even though they have Marlboroughs rolled up in
their sleep and they probably live in trailers like Matt
Thomas accuses you guys are all doing. When you get

(01:15:06):
to the game tonight, please whatever you do from the
first inning forward, don't let Matt Thomas piss on your
fun fund parade. Start the wave the first inning through
the end of the game, and do what you want
to do to have fun. So don't let any radio
hosts tell you what to do. And last, but not least,
I hope you guys have a great time next week
at uh uh at the casinos and both of you

(01:15:28):
hit the mother lows.

Speaker 2 (01:15:29):
All right, thank you Garrett. Real quick, Gary, though, real quick?
Did you see that the as the Astros fans were
doing the wave when Aeniodela Santos gave up that two
run shot to Jonah Hym and they almost came back
in the game. Okay, I'm just asking if you saw it?

Speaker 17 (01:15:44):
Was that?

Speaker 4 (01:15:44):
Alick?

Speaker 10 (01:15:46):
Was that a question?

Speaker 7 (01:15:46):
I'm sorry?

Speaker 2 (01:15:47):
Yeah, did you see it?

Speaker 4 (01:15:49):
Yes?

Speaker 18 (01:15:50):
Well that's all it on TV.

Speaker 2 (01:15:52):
Okay, we've got a lot of tweets and wave Busters people. Oh,
Wavebusters did not like it. Thank you Gary for the
phone call. I appreciate it. It's it's six to one
and then all of a sudden, the wave breaks out
and then it's six to five. Yeah, please, please please,
If the wave is important to you, do not go
to this weekend's games. We don't need you there, We

(01:16:14):
don't want you there. Stay in Baytown in your double wide,
have your smokes, don't worry about your hair and putting
color in it or whatever and letting it grow longer.
Just stay in your jorts and watch the game on
your intenna TV. Actually, can't you have to have cable,
don't you Well, you're not gonna to watch the game.
Listen to on seven ninety Sports Talk seven ninety Yeah

(01:16:37):
Astros on Dick come on your way at six pm.
Sean on seven ninety, Sean, what are you apologizing for?

Speaker 4 (01:16:45):
I'm not apologizing. I need to tell your last to
shut his bum ass up.

Speaker 2 (01:16:49):
Yeah, that's my boy, that's my boy. Thank you, Sean,
Thank you, Sean, Thank you Sean. Bless you, Sean. I
got a crazy idea, Matt. You go to the baseball game,
you watch the baseball game. That's what I think. And
if you want to cheer and boom, I'm okay with them.
There's some people to do believe in booing. I'm okay,
I'm booing. Yeah, but just don't do the wave. Don't
don't act like you've never been to a game before.

(01:17:09):
You have no idea what you're talking about now Again,
I think, frankly, people that do the wave are part
of astros Twitter. I think they're one of the same.
And I want that. I want that. I want that
group minimized. What's the burner kind of again, it's not
a burner, it's a real logistical account wavebusters h o U.
Let's check. Wait, y'all need to follow it because we
will we will fly. It doesn't follow back. Nope, I've

(01:17:30):
got how people got now one fifty nine? Okay, you
know I have it. I'm sorry.

Speaker 13 (01:17:35):
I'm sorry for all the listeners that want to, you know,
join in the conversations and join into the polls on
sports in stage and when you guys reply, you guys
get hit with the at follow at sports empty instead
of an actual response. And I want to say, I'm sorry,
you know, because those people don't follow me. I'm so sorry,
and I'm not gonna follow I'm not gonna respond to
people don't follow me. If you want to follow me,

(01:17:56):
we'll have a good conversation. You don't follow me, you can
shut your bomb mess up.

Speaker 2 (01:17:59):
That's the other day, you know what, Come on, Matt, No, no, no,
you have If you want to have a conversation with me,
you got to follow me. That's that's just simple rule.
Is you guess a good simple role sports Harvey Dave
on Sevenati, Hello Dave.

Speaker 7 (01:18:15):
Yeah, I'm sorry to have to listen to Matt Thomas
not know that.

Speaker 2 (01:18:20):
You know what, Dave, You're absolutely right. I know, Hey, Dave,
you know what? You know what, Dave, You're absolutely right.
Thank you for the phone call. I'm sorry that I
did not know that David Lee Roth was the original one.
I apologize. Hey, hit the sounder here because I'm sorry. Oh,

(01:18:41):
I'm sorry. See I can make mistakes. Oh yeah, I'm
not immune from from criticism. I can handle. Let's see
that was good. Felipe Sevenaintie Felipe, What's what are you
apologizing for?

Speaker 6 (01:18:54):
I'm sorry to the people are using the Matt Thomas
Show or an idiot calling in promoting the wave and
the wave nobody loved the way it should be outlawed.
It should be a fallowly.

Speaker 4 (01:19:09):
Us the way the.

Speaker 2 (01:19:10):
Wave I like it. Sorry, Wow, this is the Matt
Thomas Show.

Speaker 3 (01:19:17):
With Ross twelve O five in Age Town.

Speaker 19 (01:19:27):
Good morning, Star Bars and.

Speaker 4 (01:19:48):
Walk over to the third hour. I'm the Man Thomas
Show and Ross.

Speaker 3 (01:19:51):
That's since Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 2 (01:19:58):
To hit that wig off that. Don't you shake your
head at me? Terrible, should be ashamed of yourself. Don't
hit fourteens against the four will be fine that you're
a sweet old lady. Next time you do, you'll see
these hands. She got a few five dollars chips out
of her little coin purse, placed them slowly on the felt,

(01:20:19):
and she was trying her hardest. She wasn't trying to lose, Matt, No,
she was trying not to play by the rules. And
she got her ass. But she don't know the whole table,
the whole table that somebody for some help. I want
the entire table to win. I want to play the
best chance I have. Odds are not perfect, black check.
Still the house is a distinctive advantage. I get it.

(01:20:40):
But we got a chance. Let's go the worst. Let's
let's play as a team. No iron team embarrassing and
there's no blue and blue hair. Twelve o nine. Time
now for the news at noon.

Speaker 4 (01:20:54):
All right, Matt, you know the use of ash rolls.

Speaker 2 (01:20:56):
Have a huge series with the Seattle Mariners this weekend.
Every games set as the matchups will be Hunter Brown
versus Brian wu from Bravaldez versus George Kirby, Jason Alexander
versus Logan Gilbert, And we got the news earlier today,
e sac Paradus expected to be reinstated from the IL

(01:21:20):
according to Brian McTaggert, who will join us in the
Astros on Deck program coming up around six o'clock. What
capacity will he be used? We do not know. What
is the corresponding move. We do not know, but each
paradis reinstated from the IL. FO your Houston Astros. Let's
make a little uh side gut feeling on this. Okay,

(01:21:42):
there are nine games left to go in the season. Okay,
how manny hits? Do you think he gets a nine
games hits all? I though you gonna say how many
games as he play? Do you think he plays all
of them? No? No chicks, six games all at DH,
five games at DH. I mean because also he could
come back for one game and get hurt if I
set the number for you at five hits, five point

(01:22:06):
five hits, five point five hits in nine games under Okay,
so basically you're saying minimal return. By the way, how
many how many home runs did you ord on Alvarez
hit when he came back? I means he have three?
I'm was it three? I think it's three?

Speaker 4 (01:22:23):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (01:22:24):
My two number is pretty close. I know you win,
but yeah you didn't go over, so yeah you did win.
I did zero, so I was only three off. It's
not bad. He's been an asset though for sure. Well
now he's hurt and actually playing quite a bit of
left field, honestly, And now he's hurt. ESTAK Parade has
five hits. I'll go under Autama. I have no clue.
I have no clue. I could see him coming back,

(01:22:46):
and I mean somehow being if they're putt if they're reinstatingum,
he's got to have he's got to be effective to
some degree. This is insane. What's happening right now with
the ESTOC Parade's okay, so we don't know how many
hits he's gonna get, how many wins for the Astros
this weekend. Matthew Vegas has tonight's matchup. By the way,

(01:23:06):
now a slight uh Seattle lean minus one fifteen to
minus one oh five for Houston. I'm only caring about carry.
I care about the whole series, but I really care
about my big bet I'm making Saturday night at the casino.
Let's go from bart watching the best. I will be
staying away. Well, if I have a good Friday night.
I'll put a taste. Come come hang with me, I know,

(01:23:27):
for camaraderie. When you go on a gambling trip together,
you tell you tail for brother brotherhood. Interesting, I'll put
a little taste on it, our buddy, and Montgomery is
gonna put it's a it's already been on me some money. Yeah,
we're calling it a little taste. Don't look like that.
It's a gambling term, Jonathan. I know, by the way, Jonathan,
he's tasting things in Louisiana. Trust me, I've seen it firsthand.

(01:23:49):
Why wouldn't you. It's delicious, except they were kind of older,
a black blue hair, no, just short hair and old portly.
What's the rich? What's then? I don't know? These are
These are falsehoods you continue to perpetrate on me. First

(01:24:10):
of all, you heard the story secondhand. You were not there.
Second of all, they were completely falsehoods. Your brother told me.
See that's not true. Actually, who told me? Who told you?
Who told me? Doesn't work here anymore? Ooh, continue on
with the news at noon and it was a lie anyways,
But I digress. What were we talking about? Yeah, Astros Mariners. Yeah,

(01:24:35):
let's go to your Miami Dolphins. Matt, I don't know
why I keep saying you were Miami Dolphins last two days?
You did you have them covering the spread eleven and
a half. I certainly didn't look at you. Miami Dolphins
did cover the spread. They as thirty one to twenty one.
Win's a wind, baby, Dub dub baby. You take that
back to the window to a tongue of a loo
with a crucial iron t at the end of the

(01:24:56):
game and Mike McDaniel's Dolph lose thirty one to twenty one.
Some arguments on Twitter, by the way, of whose fault
that interception was? But I digress. Anyways, Uh, you have
the owner of the Miami Dolphins, whose name is.

Speaker 4 (01:25:14):
It used to be?

Speaker 2 (01:25:14):
Wayne? Has I think about it was a long time ago.
Steven Ross? Oh yeah, yeah, I was waiting for the page.
Look Steven Ross saying he would only fire Mike McDaniel
if two things happened, if the fans stopped going to
the games, or if the players have quit on Mike McDaniel.
But so far an zero to three start for the
Miami Dolphins, could Mike McDaniel be fired at some point
this season? I'll say that for Tuesday. Oh, I think

(01:25:37):
we got a gut feeling.

Speaker 4 (01:25:38):
Oh, I don't know why I did that.

Speaker 2 (01:25:40):
You know it's national talcolic A pirate day? Is it
really r Maybe like a fish plank? The Houston Texans
be pundering the Jaguars for old. Have we been a
predictions in the game this week?

Speaker 4 (01:25:54):
But have not? Quick?

Speaker 2 (01:25:57):
Next one more quick NFL note the Commanders have ruled
out Jaden Daniels. Starting for the Commanders is Oh, Marcus Mariota.
Marcus Mariota, And we'll have doctor Roto coming up in
forty five minutes. He's gonna give us the news. This
is a good show in it unbelievable. We got Dick
Fane coming up at the bottom of the hour for
all things Mariners here on Sports Talk seven ninety and

(01:26:20):
that's your news at noon twelve fourteen. You already I
got some more news for you. Want to have some
lunch today somewhere we will get the perspective of how
the Mariners feel. This series is going to go. Dick
Fane of k j R, Seattle in about ten minutes
here on the radio program. Now, earlier in the show today,
I brought up a semi hot take, and Ross is

(01:26:41):
not believed. It was one of my hotter ones. It
was hot, but it wasn't sizzling. It wasn't an inferno.
Is that a simmer? I said a simmer? If the
that's what I said? If the Texans lose this game
to the Jaguars on Sunday, and what is it?

Speaker 4 (01:26:55):
Now?

Speaker 2 (01:26:55):
I think what the Texas have won what seven straight
years in Jacksonville? Something crazy like that as a long street.
If the Texans lose the Jaguars and the Colts beat
the Titans this week, the Texans will not win the
AFC South. The Texans are underdogs, okay, slight and the

(01:27:16):
Colts are favorites. Okay, here's why. I will not say
it's a guarantee, but my name on all that kind
of good stuff. Daniel Jones has had two really good weeks,
but the Colts should be one and one. It's not
like the Colts dominant now. They dominated Miami in Week one,
but Miami has turned out to be a hot mess.

(01:27:38):
And if not for the launching personal foul call against
the Broncos on that missfield goal that gave the Colts
an opportunity to kick again, the Colts would have been
one and one. So while they're playing better than expected,
and Daniel Jones has certainly made everybody forget about Anthony
Richardson and Jonathan Taylor has been normal Jonathan Taylor sell.

(01:28:01):
They've been good but not great Tech. This is more
on me about the Texans what's ahead of them, than
I'm more worried about how great Indianapolis is. You still
have Kansas City, you still have Buffalo, you still have
Baltimore on the schedule. That's what worries me more than
anything what the Colts would do. And maybe at the

(01:28:22):
end of the day it will still only take nine
wins to win the AFC South. Yeah, I'm not really
familiar with the Colts schedule, but you're already at a
two game deficit and three games is going to be
much more difficult to climb out of. And I kind
of pulling up the Colt schedule. I mean, they have
to go at the Chiefs. But other than that, I
mean it's not a murder's rod and they're not playing

(01:28:42):
a first place schedule.

Speaker 14 (01:28:43):
Like you are.

Speaker 2 (01:28:44):
That's right, So again to me, it's not about what
the culture doing that are so exemplary it's the Texans defense.
I thought against Rams was pretty good. I thought it
was just okay against the Buccaneers. I mean, the point
total is still low. Twenty points should get you some
wins in the NFL. But Baker Mayfield made all the

(01:29:05):
key conversions third down, like like like Matthew Stafford. In
Week one, the running backs for the Buccaneers were getting
five yards to carry ross. They just were more. Yeah. Yeah,
I would say a concern, to say the least about
the way that they were gashed in the run game.

(01:29:25):
And we had Rick Blue on he talked about how
good the Jaguars have been in the run game. In
Travis atn has been one of the better running backs
by yards per carry this season and seven point one
per carry for Travis et in this year. And frankly,
if you listen to what Rick Blu said earlier from
our station in Jacksonville, it's not been really Trevor Lawrence's fault.
The Jaguars have struggled. That's been the receivers have had

(01:29:47):
the inability to make the key, key, key receptions. The
Texans are a middling team. They're they're basically smacked to
me that they can they're playing it. They're a mid team.
They're playing a mid team on the road. That's why
the Jaguars are favored by a point and a half.
So let me let's let me go macro on you
here for just a second. Like I said, we're gonna
get back to the Astros in just a minute.

Speaker 4 (01:30:06):
Here.

Speaker 2 (01:30:08):
If you're ten and seven and you have Will Anderson
and c. J. Stroud, and you had daneil Hunter and
you have Nico Collins, now you can you were going
to say you have Joe Mixon because you didn't realize
how severe the Joe Mixon situation was. You make a
change at offensive coordinator. Did this team looking back and again,

(01:30:29):
it's easy to do this after an zero and two start,
did this team do enough to really improve themselves in
the offseason, because it feels like some of the same
issues were worried about. Clearly, the offensive line has been
number one all the way through, but the nose tackle spot,
the defensive tackles were mid, Your linebackers were. I mean,
Henry Toatoa did not play well this past week. He

(01:30:53):
had a lot of tackles, but he had a lot
of mistaxles. Zir Ausha ear just a mid again. He
had a lot of tackles, but he had a lot
of mistackles. I mean, I know Jimmy Ward might be
coming back now that he's been cleared of all his issues,
but your safeties have been just okay. Peacher's been dinged
up a little bit. Did the Texans under the radar

(01:31:14):
for us just not do enough to go? Oh, that's
gonna take you guys to the very next level. I mean,
it's possible. This is where we are. We're two weeks in.
There is a world where arianta ursery gets better, which
he had better week two. The pockets were cleaner in
week two, and unfortunately c J. Stroud just wasn't making
the throws. So if you have cleaner pockets and he
makes the throws, I don't know what's gonna happen. Maybe

(01:31:36):
Woody Marks will play a little bit more and they
can get some juice there. Because I'm still not a
big believer in Nick Chubb and and him being an
effective running especially for pass pro. You need Woody out
there because nobody else can do it as good as
he has, at least from the current running back corps. Yeah,
they just haven't been picking up runners, and that's been
a problem for a couple of years. Now. How long

(01:31:57):
is Joe Mixon going to be out? Because I think
he he's obvious one of the he's one of the
pillars of this offense. He just is. But I can't
count him. I mean, even ROSSI if he's ready to go.
He hasn't been hit by anybody in months.

Speaker 4 (01:32:12):
That's so.

Speaker 2 (01:32:13):
I mean, he's a veteran guy. I'm not necessarily worried
about that. He can. He was, didn't He misspractice all
last year and then week one against a Colt he
was spectacular. But father time wins a running back room,
especially well, and it's winning right now with his foot injury.

Speaker 4 (01:32:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:32:25):
Yeah, But I'm saying I'm not worried about him not
being fresh. I'm not saying he's gonna be great.

Speaker 20 (01:32:30):
I'm not.

Speaker 2 (01:32:30):
I wouldn't un say I'm worried about being ready or
I'm worried about him even being ready. Okay, well I'm not.
I mean, just whenever he's out there, I think he's
got to perform. I think the Texans' overly vague philosophy
about his return is not a good sign. That's why
if you get him back, it's great, but if you
don't get him back, then they just didn't want to

(01:32:51):
tell you the truth. Unless they were just huge believers
in Nick Chubb, which is possible. I would have figured
Nick Cassari and the Texans would do something more if
Joe if if they know, let's say they know right
now Joe Mixon's is out for the year. They need
to be on the phones trading for any basically anybody,
and just as far as backup running back. And to
show you what they don't think of their running back corps,

(01:33:14):
they deactivated Damian Pierce for last week's game. So for
in a situation where you could have used another running
back that could have made a difference. They're not carrying
for on game day. And dariagumwala, if he misses one
more block ross one more block, that's it. Okay, gotta
release him a while. They really like him and what
he brings in pass catching and thirty. He's been their

(01:33:36):
third down back for two years. He's the darling of
I don't know who, if it's if it's uh uh
Nick Cassario, or if it's Dimico Ryans or what, but
they like him in a third down role, and Willie
Marx has shown some juice both in the legs and
the and pass catching. I'd like to see some more
of him. All right, let's get back on the Astros
Mariner series. We'll get a Seattle perspective next twelve thirty

(01:33:58):
on Sports Talk seven ETTI twelve thirty three, The Bat
Tom's Show with Ross. One of the legendary sports radio
stations and our iHeart family is kay Jay R Seattle.
We usually visit with Softy, but he's busy playing golf

(01:34:20):
or god knows what he's doing. He was unavailable for us,
so we got his partner on ninety three point three FM.
Dick Fane is with us from kJ rn C. I
don't talk about today's series. At the beginning of the
series with the Mariners, Dick, it's Matt and Ross. How
are things in the Pacific Northwest? Oh?

Speaker 21 (01:34:35):
They're beautiful, beautiful, the best time of year, man, seventy
seventy five every day.

Speaker 4 (01:34:40):
We love September around here.

Speaker 2 (01:34:42):
Yeah, how's that January gonna treat you though?

Speaker 4 (01:34:43):
But forty eight and rain January? Yeah, January sucks.

Speaker 21 (01:34:46):
But you know, I don't mind January because I'd rather
have forty eight and rain than twenty two and six
feet of snow. So I'm okay with the I'm okay
with the forty eight rain.

Speaker 2 (01:34:57):
Bless you on that. Hey, okay, so you we are
in a football craze town, clearly correct, Yes, but you're
also in a town that is starving for a deep
postseason run. Let's go macro view first dick on the
Mariners season. Get out to a very quick lead, the
Astros get chase, get it all the way back, have
a huge seven game lead, You make a couple of

(01:35:18):
trades and the trade deadline to the Mariners, and that
seven game lead is a race going into today series.
Am I missing anything else from the storyline of the
twenty twenty five Seattle Mariners.

Speaker 4 (01:35:28):
No, that sounds about right.

Speaker 21 (01:35:30):
And you know we've kind of seen that before where
the Mariners have blown big leads to Houston. I do
think this is a different, better settle Mariners version than
the one that lost the ten game lead to Houston
not long ago. So I think those trade deadline deals
are really coming to fruition. I mean, to add, Josh Naylor,
you had Gino Suarez. I mean, the Mariners were by

(01:35:50):
far this aggressive team. At deadline, getting too middle of
the order bats, and it's it's really coming to coming
to roost now, and especially when they're at home now.
They have not been as good on the road. It
was good to see them get the two out of
three in Kansas City and hopefully carry some of that
momentum into Houston.

Speaker 2 (01:36:07):
Has Naylor been better than Suarez since the deadline or
is the regret they coming closer to each other now
because I know Naylor was really hot and Suarez wasn't
so early in that trade.

Speaker 21 (01:36:17):
Yeah, definitely, in the first three weeks or so, Naylor
was far out performing Gino Suarez.

Speaker 4 (01:36:21):
But Gino's coming.

Speaker 21 (01:36:22):
Alive, big home run a couple of days ago, and
there I would say that Mariner fans are happy with
both acquisitions at this point.

Speaker 2 (01:36:29):
All right, you brought up the home road splits. So
if you and I are sitting down having a cold
beverage at a home game, we're drawing ourselves because the
pitchforks are out and everybody's having a good time. The
road games have been frankly aggravating when you are seeing
them play poorly. Is it that bullpen that's being exposed
on the road? Perhaps more so than in the home field.

Speaker 4 (01:36:50):
Yes, I would say that.

Speaker 21 (01:36:51):
The starting pitching. And that's why it was so good
to see Luis still come out and have a really
good outing yesterday Kansas City, because he has been miserable
on the road five era on the road going into
that start yesterday, and some of the other Mariner starters
have been hit and miss, and usually they're pretty good
at home, and on the road you never know you
can get. I mean, we've gotten four and a third

(01:37:13):
innings out of George Kirby. We've gotten bad starts from
Logan Gilbert at a time or two Bryce Miller as well.
And this is a starting rotation that was thought to
be and proved last year. I mean, it was arguably
the best starting rotation in all of baseball in twenty
twenty four.

Speaker 4 (01:37:29):
We thought that would carry over.

Speaker 21 (01:37:30):
It has not, but they're starting to mesh a little
bit and starting to pitch better as a unit. It
seems like we've always had one or two guys in
the rotation pitching well and one or two guys in
the rotation not pitching well at any given point in
the season.

Speaker 2 (01:37:45):
And what about that bullpen. We know that Munos has
been one of the best relievers in baseball, But what
about the guys behind him?

Speaker 21 (01:37:51):
Yeah, I mean munos Is second half of the season
has been a little scarier.

Speaker 4 (01:37:56):
Than the first. I mean the first half he was untouchable,
and it's like.

Speaker 21 (01:37:59):
All right, are we really gonna quibble with Andre's Munoz
getting one or two guys on base in the ninth
inning consistently and in July and August because he was
perfect before that. But a Zierra is still sub too,
so he is, yes, a top three closer in baseball.
Matt Brass has been the most reliable guy up until
the last few outings. He's the eighth inning guy with

(01:38:21):
the nasty slider. Hopefully Matt Brass gets back to his
first half of the season self, because if he is,
you can pretty much shut the door on opponents after
the seventh inning.

Speaker 2 (01:38:31):
Dick Fane with us here on a Sports Talk seven ninety.
Kyle Rowley obviously having a huge MVP caliber season. What
has been where did this come from? What has been
the difference from him? How has he been so good?
And me here in Houston, I was even saying this
month ago, like he's got to slow down at some
point and it just hasn't happened.

Speaker 4 (01:38:50):
You know, I lost a big wager to SAFTI.

Speaker 21 (01:38:53):
I mean, we had an over under set like a
month and a half ago, and we set the over
under at fifty two and a half and I felt
like I was safe. I was like, there is no
way cayl Rawley's going to keep this up.

Speaker 4 (01:39:03):
He is a catcher.

Speaker 21 (01:39:05):
There is no way a catcher can keep this pace up.
So I mean, like, you're telling me, Softie that he's
going to break the all time home run record for
catchers by like six or seven home runs.

Speaker 4 (01:39:15):
That's not gonna happen.

Speaker 21 (01:39:16):
And well, here we are, and now he's broken the
all time switch hitter record set by a guy named
Mickey Mantle. He's tied with Ken Griffy Junior for most
home runs as a Mariner.

Speaker 4 (01:39:26):
Is just it's preposterous. I mean, honestly, I've said.

Speaker 21 (01:39:30):
On the air multiple times, I think it's probably the
most improbable individual sports achievement in Seattle sports history.

Speaker 4 (01:39:37):
How do you go.

Speaker 21 (01:39:38):
From a guy that's, you know, in the middle of
his career, it's not like he's a rookie. You go
from a guy that's career high is thirty home runs
to a guy's now going to push sixty home runs.
And I think a big thing had to do with
it that that torpedo bat. As soon as he got
that go back and look at his ops when he
was handed that torpedo bat in late April, his OPS was.

Speaker 4 (01:39:57):
Like five fifty.

Speaker 21 (01:39:59):
And as soon as he got that torpedo bat, he
is just he's taken off.

Speaker 4 (01:40:03):
It's been unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (01:40:04):
So Will Softy's Twitter feed if he doesn't win the
MVP will be, oh my god, this is an outrage.
I can't believe that the New York based media would
once again vote for Aaron Judge. Or is there a
little bit of a philosophical approach from the fan base
saying that while Cal's season is amazing, Aaron Judge doing
some pretty incredible things in New York as.

Speaker 21 (01:40:24):
Well well, Will Will softyse Twitter be off the off
the hands?

Speaker 2 (01:40:30):
I mean, what do you think he's gonna go nuclear?

Speaker 4 (01:40:32):
Is?

Speaker 2 (01:40:32):
What is he gonna do?

Speaker 21 (01:40:33):
Honestly, then I've had a debate with them.

Speaker 2 (01:40:35):
I mean, I've got money on Aaron.

Speaker 4 (01:40:36):
Judge to win the MVP because I just think that I.

Speaker 21 (01:40:39):
Got it when it went down to one to one
when they were basically even.

Speaker 4 (01:40:42):
I was like, you're you're.

Speaker 21 (01:40:43):
Giving me, You're giving me plus like plus one ten
for Aaron Judge, like for a day, and I jumped
all over that.

Speaker 4 (01:40:49):
I was like, come on, it's Aaron Judge.

Speaker 21 (01:40:52):
He's beating Cal Rawly in everything other than home runs
and RBIs by a mile. So while Cal is deserved
of the MVP, Aaron Judge is also very deserved of
the MVP. Mariner fans are going to be ticked off,
but you know what, if you were to trade a
World Series appearance for an MVP, every one hundred out
of one hundred Mariner fans are going to take that trade.

Speaker 2 (01:41:12):
I'm so jealous because I look at y'all show tweets,
and y'all are always doing shows at casinos and talking
about bets. Meanwhile, we got to go to the state
border to make our bets. So I just want to say,
we're very jealous on behalf of you guys. You're lucky
to have ad When did you guys get casino gambling
in Washington State?

Speaker 4 (01:41:28):
All five issues right after COVID. I think COVID pushed
it back a year.

Speaker 21 (01:41:32):
I think was supposed to start in twenty twenty, didn't
start until late twenty twenty one, I.

Speaker 4 (01:41:37):
Believe, So it's been it's been four years.

Speaker 21 (01:41:39):
And so yeah, every Monday afternoon we do our show
literally fifteen feet.

Speaker 4 (01:41:45):
From a sports book. So that's exactly where.

Speaker 21 (01:41:47):
I placed that air Aaron Judge at VP a.

Speaker 2 (01:41:50):
Bet making us upset. Now we're pissed off beyond that, okay.

Speaker 21 (01:41:55):
And we're still ticked off here because we can't do
it on our phones like some states do, like we
still we can't do raft kings, we can't. We can't
bet on our phones. You have to be at a
tribal casino in order to place event.

Speaker 2 (01:42:07):
But you can play blackjack and crabs and all that too.
Is a casino gambling, right.

Speaker 4 (01:42:10):
Yes, yes, yeah, one casino. It's beautiful.

Speaker 2 (01:42:14):
You have a beautiful city, and you don't have NBA,
which I've been every time I come on y'all show.
It is the biggest crime still that the NBA has
not said to expand I don't want to. I don't
want to pour salt in your ruins on that, all right,
So let's get to it. Even if the Mariners do
not win the series, which obviously our audience, and we
personally don't want that to happen. You've got the Mariners,

(01:42:36):
have three with the Rockies and three with the Dodgers.
I would presume you are rooting hard for the Dodgers
to take care of business this weekend, so that series
in Seattle next week weekend means absolutely nothing to them.

Speaker 21 (01:42:48):
Absolutely, and I think it's really going to cut. I
think the division is going to come down to whether
the Dodgers take care of the Padres ahead of time.

Speaker 4 (01:42:54):
I think this.

Speaker 21 (01:42:54):
Series goes to one between Houston and Seattle. I don't
think either team sweeps the other.

Speaker 4 (01:42:59):
And you know, for if I had to.

Speaker 21 (01:43:00):
Put put a lot of money on it that the
Emerald Queen Casino, I'd bet Houston wins two out of three.

Speaker 4 (01:43:06):
So you know, you guys get the home field.

Speaker 21 (01:43:08):
Seattle has not been consistent on the road, and so
you go in to the last six games of the
season really with the two game lead on Seattle, because
you'd have the tie breaker and Seattle would absolutely have
to go five and one, which if the Dodgers weren't
playing for anything, five and one is very doable for

(01:43:28):
Seattle against a terrible Rocky team. Who's mailed it in,
and then a Dodger team was mailed it in. But
I think if the Dodgers are playing for something, it's
going to be tough for Seattle to go five and one.

Speaker 2 (01:43:38):
Well, Dick, you've been very poll out on this show.
I will not be nearly as polite when I joined
your program a little bit later on this afternoon. Just
wanted to I got to bring the fury because we
got East Sich parties back. Even though he's at about
forty percent, he's coming out the injured list. So life
is much more enthusiastic around these parts because they're getting
a player back, one of our thirty players that have
been hurt for about two months now. So there it is.

Speaker 4 (01:43:58):
Well, enjoy talking to soft.

Speaker 21 (01:44:00):
I am taking the day off because I am taking
the family across to the eastern Washington. Go watch my
Washington Huskies absolutely dispatch of the Washington State Cougars in
the Apple Cup tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (01:44:09):
So you enjoy your time with Dave.

Speaker 2 (01:44:11):
All right, Well, good, thanks very much, Dike. Nice to
hear from me. Appreciate you coming on the show very much.
That's tick, Matt, all right, that's tick. Fane k j R.
Radio the Apple Cup? Have you ever been to the
Apple Cup? Rossy, No, me either. To get the people going,
I think probably in Washington State it does, I guess,
so it's not bad, right good? I think Washington's what
a four touchdown favorite? Sounds like a real rivalry. I

(01:44:34):
bet it's been. I go to the often go to
the best rivalry in college sports, Matt. Of course, the
best game would be ou versus Texas split down the
middle at the Cotton Bowl. Will I be going this year?
Only if the Ashros aren't still in the playoffs? What
do you think? I know how much you enjoy it,
and you always come back with a good story. So

(01:44:54):
I'm kind of you're gonna have to miss it this year.
I just I don't. I don't think I want you going.
That would be I think I think that would be
game five of a potential Alds on October eleventh when
they came. Maybe the series ends in four, you never
and then I can go or three and then the Sea.
By the way, the Washington Huskies are twenty and a
half point favorites at Washington State. That's no rivalry about

(01:45:20):
that game, aren't we We could who you got? We'll
do it for Softy. We're gonnake Washington plus twenty Washingam.
I don't know. Yeah, those guys are. He was from
Pullman who it's Washington State is plus nine hundred. You
got the money line, that bad boy lock of a
week on the money line. It's a recorded line. You
gotta call us doctor Ronto. At fifteen here on the
Matt Thomas Show with Ross. This is Sports Talk seven

(01:45:42):
ninety so there were stepping at Ross brought up earlier
today when we were talking about the easternc Predus return
to the Astra lineup or at least on the active roster,
that you absolutely hit it on the head. Astros Twitter
is losing their mind over this. Not because he's coming back.

(01:46:05):
I mean there's general excitement with this, but I went
to the for utab but that's where I see most
of Astros sweater because there's no way I can follow
those people. They're nutjobs. Most of them are like, God,
help this team if he gets hurt again. That's the
thing I'm noticing, and I'm not saying that everybody's saying this,
but I am noticing a trend that people are not

(01:46:27):
predicting or forecasting but just maybe anticipating that this, not
worried about it, anxious about it, and unfortunately it's something
that's creeping on our head and it's something that's continued
to come up with the injuries. It's just continues to happen,
and it's something that popped into my mind. And look,
I'm sure Esi Paratus is given the full one hundred
percent go like, hey, I understand. I'm sure he understands

(01:46:49):
the full risks of where he is, that he could
get reinjured. He wants to contribute to the team, he
wants to be out there. I'm going to tell you
that the the Astros is an organization, had to have said,
here are your two options. We can inject you with

(01:47:09):
something in pray and you can rest or, you can
have surgery. You're done for the rest of the season,
but you should be ready to go in time for
the twenty twenty sixth season. Those are two logical explanations.
I'm sure the Astros made a recommendation. What that recommendation is,

(01:47:31):
I don't know. No one would possibly tell me this,
but the professional athlete and the player probably says, if
you're giving me a shot at playing this year, I'll
take that shot. So in that respect, I do give
him plenty of respect for at least not saying, well,

(01:47:52):
it is what it is. I guess I'll be ready
to go for twenty twenty six because frankly, he may
be brought up in trade conversations for the start of
the twenty twenty six season because there are there is
one too many infielders for next year's team. But we'll
a beut that down the road. So I do give
him his props, his flowers for doing whatever he took
to get back to where this is the only thing

(01:48:15):
that scares me is if he does hurt himself. Now
does he further do if he was to get any
sort of injury, which we don't know that to be
the case. We're not doctors. We don't know if he
does get hurt. But if he does get hurt and
it's severe because of the fact that the hamstring is
not one hundred percent and should not be tested at
a competitive level, is he endangering part of his twenty
twenty sixth season when surgery would have more than likely

(01:48:38):
taken care of it had him ready for spring training
him next season. That's why you're saying that and I've
been thinking, We've been thinking about this since this came down.
I'm starting to think, is he what type of rule
is he going to be in? Is he going to
be tonight in the lineup? Is he going to be
in the lineup at all? Is he going to be daching?
Is he going to dche half the games? Obviously we

(01:48:58):
know he's not going to be in the field, so
you basically have to wonder is he strictly a pinch
hit back that's the basically the lowest of where he
would be. The highest possible would be dhing every day's
is he gonna be somewhere in between?

Speaker 4 (01:49:12):
What I do? I don't know. I can't figure this out.

Speaker 2 (01:49:15):
I will let's just do a guess. Guess. Is he
doesn't or a glove at any point this year? Yes,
I would agree with that. I don't think he plays
every single day. I think there could be a pinch
hit role. I would I'll put it this way, I
would think he's probably going to more pinch hit than DH.
I would agree with that, I think, But how we
could be wrong. I'm just we're just throwing out speculating. Well, yeah,

(01:49:37):
we're we're not watching him run and all that type
of stuff. But Joe Spotty did say earlier this week, like, hey,
we're gonna ask him not to run one because here's
what I here's what I think if you, if you
pinch hit him, he gets a hit, you can then
replace him with a pinch runner, just if he was
to DH. You're giving him four chances. Now again, he's

(01:49:59):
been a good hitter, but but you're also gonna be
him four chances to get on base, run first, a
second at less than one hundred percent, and oh, by
the way, second to third, or trying to score on
a sack fly and maybe re injuring himself. I and
I met again. I'm not trying to treat him like
he's some piece of a Christmas ornament where it could break,
but it's gonna be feels like it. It just kind

(01:50:21):
of does. That's why That's why I'm starting to think
maybe it is mostly a pinch just a strictly pinch
hit role. Maybe I think they have in their mind
what they think it's going to be, but what it
turns out to be depending on how he feels once
he gets the adrenaline going and be something different. In theory,
if you're putting him in DH he's top four in
the lineup. I mean, you're gonna put him out there

(01:50:41):
first inning and he could get on base, and you're
telling him not to run. You're costing yourself opportunities it runs. Yeah,
because he'd be the slowest he'll be. He was never
quick to begin with. Correct, he'll be he'll because I
think the Astros is an organization, will say, take it
easy out there, don't try to get don't try to
go first, thurn a base it, don't try to score
from second on a basin unless he's just healthier than

(01:51:05):
we think. Correct, and we'll find that out, not by
what Joe Spotta tells us. Yeah, how we see it
on the field, Tom before we get to doctor rot O.

Speaker 4 (01:51:11):
Hi, Tom, Hey, what's up?

Speaker 22 (01:51:14):
Matt Hey Ross? How you guys doing you listen? Can
I details right to the point with the Astros. I
know you might have a lot of people wait and
I'll be quick. You've got your two piss pitchers going
tonight and tomorrow night. If they can't come through for
us and the Astros can't get more than four runs,
they're finished. You're going into the series against the team

(01:51:35):
that's hot. They've won twelve or fourteen games and they.

Speaker 5 (01:51:39):
Keep that up. I don't know they got to win
on the road. They just won two out of three.
But it's about the pitching for the Astros. These two
games are must wins. Ross don't roll your eye. I did,
but they are I hear you did. But we're in
that territory, guys. These are must wins, especially tonight, draw

(01:51:59):
first flood. I'm hoping that happens. Thanks for letting me in, guys.

Speaker 2 (01:52:03):
Thanks the phone call. All right, let's get to doctor
Rodeo next and we will discuss that non flora story
is coming up, Rossey in thirty five minutes. Where's your
non flora story from? That would be Bangkok Tailand all right,
and Rossie, we also have today's edition of Hell Here
not all things about Clayton Kershaw. Yeah, we're the three
quarters away done. Do you believe that? Folks?

Speaker 4 (01:52:36):
Waiver claims.

Speaker 23 (01:52:39):
Have to be made and I've got trade proposals fly
in my way. My first round pig turned out to
be a big flop. I don't know which wide receiver
I need. Yahoo, Doctor Routo gave me the news.

Speaker 4 (01:53:06):
I really don't know what else you do?

Speaker 23 (01:53:10):
My quarterback keeps getting sacked. I've got a bad Keith
unfair to see blue.

Speaker 2 (01:53:20):
It is the fastest thirty minutes a major market sports radio.
Are good friend, the one the only tut Tuto on
sports talks of and I d R. Howard, Thanks, my friend.

Speaker 4 (01:53:32):
MT had a good week. Well, it was a weird
game last night. Huh. I thought that. I don't know.
I thought the Bills. The Bills receivers are tough because
there's so many guys there, and there were names I'd
never heard of before. Never good sign. If I don't
know your name one, that's not a good thing. So
it's Bills are hard for fantasy because we love Josh Allen,
we love James Cook. And then it's like a cast

(01:53:54):
of guys that we wish we knew more of.

Speaker 2 (01:53:56):
I understand, And uh, are we gonna start banding? Well,
we'll talk about abandoning Miami when they play next. But
Buffalo obviously clearly is an excellent football team and has
plenty of receivers to go to and put together a
late stretch. Let's get to the injuries. The word mister
Daniels is not going to play for Washington this week.
How does that affect the Commanders?

Speaker 4 (01:54:17):
Fisially, it affects the Commanders. But Mario is not terrible.
It's been in the league for a while. Knows how
to run this offense. He ran it last year when
Daniels missed some time. If there was ever a game
to miss, I mean playing the Raiders not probably the
worst case scenario where Teebo Samuel will get some shots.
I don't really love Terry mccluurin this week. I don't
think that works out well. But if you got this
kid Crosskey Merritt, this would be the week to start him.

(01:54:39):
I can't imagine that he doesn't get twenty carriers, all right?

Speaker 2 (01:54:42):
And then we got Cincinnati with a new quarterback as well,
and this goes to part of the Houston Torosho are
off to a two and oh start, Doctor Rotell, Thank
you for your sound advice. As always, mister Higgins. T
Higgins has let me down the last couple of weeks.
Kind of a slow start. How are we anticipating the
position the skill position players for the with a new QB.

Speaker 4 (01:55:02):
Yeah, we don't love T Higgins this week either. I
do like Jake Browning Okay, Jake Browning is imagine Jamis Winston,
guy who's gonna throw for maybe two hundred and fifty
to three hundred yards, gonna throw for one to two touchdowns,
and he's gonna throw two to three interceptions. He's going
to make bad plays, but he's not afraid to throw
the ball, right, He's not afraid to make a play.

(01:55:22):
And I think when when backup quarterbacks get get in there,
you're like, ooh, maybe it's going to hurt my skill players.
I don't think it hurts the skill players a ton.
I think Chase brown gets actually more passes out of
the backfield Jamar. Chase is never going to lose opportunities.
The reason I don't love T Higgins this week is
who they're playing, Minnesota. Minnesota's going to do ball control
because Carson Wentz is their quarterback. You're gonna see a

(01:55:43):
lot of Jordan Mason. So I'm a little scared off
about T Higgins this week, but not in general.

Speaker 2 (01:55:49):
All Right, Well that answered my question. Thank you very
much for that. Let's get to Aaron Rodgers through two weeks.
So we noticed that the significant difference between games one
and two because in that week one game he threw
for four touchdowns.

Speaker 4 (01:56:00):
Yeah, I mean, but look, Rodgers is going to do
exactly what he does. I think the surprise has been
the Steelers defense. They've been horrific. The Jets look great, though,
Sam Darnold and the Seahawks look great. So the question
is now, is he going to make Drake may look great?
The better the opposing team plays offensively, the more Aaron
Rodgers has to do. I think Jalen Warrener is going
to get even more involved. Rogers realizes how good he

(01:56:23):
is out of the backfield catching passes, and DK Metcalf
is always a good start. I mean, Rogers goes to
his top guy, and DK Metcalf is his top guy.

Speaker 2 (01:56:32):
I don't know if a lot of folks had the
Cleveland Browns littered up throughout their fantasy rosters, but the
expectations were minimal, especially with Joe Flacco starting. They've got
green Bay coming in. A lot of folks think this
could be a huge blowout. How do you see this
and how are you concerned? If you are if things
get out of hand in that Packer game.

Speaker 4 (01:56:50):
So look, the Browns run defense has been surprisingly solid.
Josh Jacobs, though seems to score a touchdown every week,
so I like Jacobs to get like sixty yards in
a touchdown. I think where it explodes as Jordan Love.
Jordan Love is gonna have a pretty good week if
the Packers are going to win, which I fully expect
that they will, and Vegas has them scoring about twenty
four points. So if we give one touchdown to Jacobs,

(01:57:12):
that's two to Jordan Love. Now, is it Romeo Dobbs?
It could be? Is it Dantevion Wicks? Very well could
be because they play a lot of Cleveland plays a
ton of man coverage and Wis does very well against
man coverage. So if there's a sneaky guy to catch
a touchdown this week, it should be Dantavian Wicks. On
the other side, Quinn Shawn Judkins is going to ramp

(01:57:33):
up his opportunities. He's a very good player. Look, Joe
Floko is a placeholder. In the next couple of years
have really strong drafts for quarterbacks. I'm sure Cleveland will
have one of those guys, but this year they don't.

Speaker 2 (01:57:45):
All right, let's get to Indianapolis two and all on
this season, frankly should be one in one because of
the launching penalty that was called against Denver. I have
not watched a lot of Daniel Jones. I'm watching red Zone,
but the low that I see it's pretty good. Stunned
are you? And if so, can you do it for
a thursd short week against a very subpar Tennessee team?

Speaker 4 (01:58:08):
I think he can. You Look, Brian Dable never wanted him,
didn't want any part of him. Now he goes to
Indianapolis with Shane Steiken, who has worked with mobile quarterbacks
before like Jalen Hurts, and he's with a team that
actually wants him to be there if they have good
skilled players. Michael Pittman is good, Josh Downs is good,
Tyler Warren is terrific, Jonathan Taylor is great. So Jones
has more than he had in New York. So, plus

(01:58:31):
he's in a division that's much easier now. Denver that
was a lucky win. Like you said, that leverage penalty
was crazy, but playing Tennessee, Tennessee's just not a very
good team. I think cam Morder is doing his best,
but the Colts are better now. I think this game
is going to be close. I do. I think Tony
Pollard will play well, I think Calvin Ridley will play well.
But look, I think this is the Colts game to win.

(01:58:54):
I think Daniel Jones gets about two hundred and twenty
yards passing, maybe one passing touchdown, but he's always a
threat to run, and he could have forty yards in
a touchdown. He does that, you're looking at like a
twenty eight point game from him.

Speaker 2 (01:59:05):
All right, we saw the Buccaneers on Monday night firsthand.
They can run the football. I mean they absolutely can,
and Baker Mayfield can make the throws and he can
actually run occasionally grab first downs. Maybe it was poorest
tackling from the Texans. Buccaneers are home for an zero
to two Jets team. Have we not spent enough time
prioritizing all the different key position players for the Buccaneers

(01:59:26):
so far this year?

Speaker 4 (01:59:28):
Maybe so, But the Buccaneers have tremendous offensive line issues. Okay,
Tristan Wurks is out, Cody Mack was placed in the
ir another guy, Luka Gottakey sees out two. So this
is a make shift offensive line. The crazy thing is
that Baker Mayfield, like you said, is it just makes place.

(01:59:49):
Now what's even crazy here is that Vegas still thinks
the Buccaneer is going to put up twenty five points
even without three offensive linemen. So what does that tell you?
I think it tells you they believe in Irving, which
I do too. And look, we have not seen the
Mike Evans siding. We will see the Mike Evan siding
this week. I think he finally scores a touchdown.

Speaker 2 (02:00:08):
Chargers two to zero, probably going to face their best
defense of the year at home against Denver. Can they
make it a third trat week of putting up some
big points?

Speaker 4 (02:00:15):
I think they can. You know, the way they play,
They're just a very well coached team. They call the
right plays at the right time. Justin Herbert is very athletic,
way more athletic than people give them credit for. Is
this a guy who can run for thirty forty yards
in a game that their receivers Quinton Johnson is actually
holding on to the football. I mean, look at what
happens when a guy doesn't drop the ball. Right now,

(02:00:35):
they have Keenan Allen. I love Keenan Allen this week.
If there was ever a week to play him, this
is it. The Denver is open to slot receivers right,
there a little suspect against slot receivers, So I don't
really like Quenton Johnson or a Lad mccaukeey this week.
I really want to see Omar and Hampton. This guy
hasn't done enough yet for our first round pick. We

(02:00:55):
expect more.

Speaker 2 (02:00:56):
All right, let's get to the Texas and Jaguars. Jaggs
should have beatn the Bengals last week. You forced three
turnovers and not win the game at silly as far
as the Texans are concerned, we saw Nicole Collins reach
the end zone very early in the game against the
Bucks on Monday, but was really silent after that. Are
you getting nervous at all about the receiving corps, especially

(02:01:16):
Nico and CJ's overall performances as the Texans go to
Jacksonville this week?

Speaker 4 (02:01:23):
Yeah? Good point about Jacksonville. Diamy Brown catches that ball
last week in the end zone. I think there's a
different outcome to that game. I think Jacksonville wins. The
Texans have played really well on defense, but Stroud was
so good two years ago, so good that I think
our expectations of him were to only get better and better.
But maybe that wasn't the real c. J. Stroud. Maybe

(02:01:45):
he's just a solid, decent quarterback, but not a star
in this league. But you said it. The best Okay
wide receivers are young. Nicole Collins is a stud. Kirk
hasn't been healthy, hopefully he's back this week. Higgins is
a rookie. Nole's a rookie. Boltz is okay, but he's
limited and they don't have a real running game. Nick
Chubb doesn't look very fast to me. I mean, he's

(02:02:06):
breaking some tackles, but he's not fast. I want to
see more woody marks. I think the more woody marks
we see maybe the better, because it's another person that
a linebacker has to cover. Otherwise they're sitting in. I'm
double covering Nico Collins. If you're the opposing defense, why
wouldn't you do that? So do I think they beat Jacksonville?
I do. I think Trevor Lawrence is going to be

(02:02:26):
in for a tough week because the Texans pass defense
is very good and Lawrence, as we see, just those high,
hard to catch football and you're not going to win
in the league if you do that all right.

Speaker 2 (02:02:36):
Time now for Ross vill Rial's weekly question to Doctor Rono. Yes,
you mentioned to Jake Browning earlier. Just your thoughts overall
on some of the backup quarterbacks because a lot of
people have some guys injured. As far as Waiver Wires
is maybe not the top build quarterback name that you
think can perform this weekend.

Speaker 4 (02:02:55):
All right, So in terms of backup quarterbacks, I'm a
big fan of Browning. I am Mariota is one of
those safe guys. I don't expect much. Same thing with
Tyrod Taylor, right, Tyron Taylor has been around this league forever.
Are you winning with any of those guys? You're probably not.
Carson Wentz is interesting because we know that Kevin O'Connell
always makes his quarterbacks better. I think we haven't seen
anything from TJ. Hockinson, and I think we might this week.

(02:03:18):
So that's a good pickup. I've got to believe that
Daniel Jones is still out there in some leagues. Maybe
people should be picking him up. I would say Daniel
Jones one, Browning two, maybe Michael Pennix also this week
against Carolina, it's a pretty good matchup.

Speaker 2 (02:03:34):
All right. We got questions for doctor roto you call
in right now and get him in seven one three
two one two five seven nineties Mariah Carron. Huh okay,

(02:04:03):
we haven't gone to her in a while, so said
many men. Seven one three two one two five seven
ninety seven one three two one two five seven Nini
for the good doctor here on sports talks. Don't you
have any questions with thoughts? Let's go. Let you get
your questions in for the man who is gonna help
me finally break the Col's rough Riders run of a

(02:04:23):
championships here at the iHeartRadio League fourth straight. Maybe it's ridiculous,
all right, rto let's go. Jonathan put up line two
for us, and let's say hi to Phillip on seven
ninety your question for doctor roto please.

Speaker 4 (02:04:38):
Phil?

Speaker 7 (02:04:38):
So I lost Joe Burrow and uh, yeah, I'm here.
So I lost Joe Burrow And uh I've got Michael
Pinnix or Aaron Rodgers, and I'm trying to decide you
to start.

Speaker 4 (02:04:48):
Yeah, I think I'm gonna go Aaron Rodgers because I
think that's the game that could explode a little bit.
Both defenses have not been spectacular here. You're thinking about Pennis.
I like Pennix, but two guys are really gonna have
a great week. Is going to be Jean Robinson. I
mean against Carolina's own scheme, he should have one hundred
yards in a touchdown. And I think Kyle Pitts. They
run a lot of cover three there and and Pitts

(02:05:10):
does very well against that coverage. So this feels like
a Pennics two hundred and twenty yard and one touchdown
game where this where it could be more for Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 2 (02:05:19):
All right, thanks for the phone call. Let's open the
line up at seven one three two one two five
seven ninety seven to one three two, one two five
seven nine zero. Let's go to Greg and livingson for
doctor Ortal.

Speaker 4 (02:05:29):
Hi.

Speaker 20 (02:05:29):
Greg, Yes, i lost Joe Burrow as well, but right
now I'm picking up between Daniel Jones and Trevor Lawrence.
Now I also have a Texans defense, so kind of curious.

Speaker 4 (02:05:45):
About that mobile and Trevor Lawrence. Listen, there was some
point last week's game. I don't know if you guys
caught it that Liam Collen was basically screaming at Trevor
Lawrence to throw the ball so the guys can catch it.
Brian Thomas Junior is very upset. He had a great
year with Mac Jones, last year with Trevor Lawrence. He's

(02:06:06):
been struggling. So you don't want Lawrence is not throwing
a catchable ball right now, and that's an issue. Daniel
Jones is confident on a good team. Gimme Daniel Jones
right now. I can't believe I'm saying that, but I am.

Speaker 2 (02:06:20):
By the way, we've had two Joe Burrow calls to
open up the show, and I know Rodo injuries you
cannot predict. And when he's playing, he's awesome. But there's
been a lot of downtime for Joe Burrow. It does
affect our fantasy leagues. It just does.

Speaker 4 (02:06:33):
Yeah, it has to. I mean every year you go
in and you say to yourself, if I have borrowed
to Chase, I have borrow in T Higgins, I'm going
to win my league, and you probably will. But I mean,
how many times has this guy gotten hurt and you'd
think get an offensive line in there, somebody protect him. Right.
It's like David Carr. David Carr could have been a
really good quarterback. We'll never know that because he got

(02:06:54):
back eight hundred and forty seven times a season. Because
they never put an offensive line in front of him.

Speaker 2 (02:06:58):
Yeah, sounds like it could be another team here in Houston, Texas,
just saying, gonna get that line protection for Cdre. Let's
go to Hugh on seven, Honnie, who you're on with?
Dr Roto? Go ahead?

Speaker 10 (02:07:09):
Hey, doctor Roto, I got a question for you. I've
got Xavier Worthy in multiple leagues. What are the chances
he goes because I don't have anybody else on Sunday
night or Monday.

Speaker 4 (02:07:22):
Yeah, no, Worthy's expected to play. I don't think there's
a problem. I've been watching some video from practice. He
should be out there, and they need him. I mean,
who would have thought the Chiefs are zero and two
and they're going to New York on a Sunday night game,
needing this win. They need this win badly. I think
Pacheco is going to play better, and I think Zavy
Worthy is going to help Mahomes play play well, so
you can start him, all right.

Speaker 2 (02:07:43):
Let's go to h Jim in Missouri City on seven,
Anti Hi Jim?

Speaker 4 (02:07:49):
Hello, Yes, okay, Doctor Roto.

Speaker 24 (02:07:53):
I've got three players I need to start two of them,
which one doesn't make it? I've got Latin McConkie Marvin
Harrison Junior and Deebo Samuel out of those three weeks,
do I start.

Speaker 4 (02:08:04):
Yeah, I'm definitely playing Deebo for sure. I'm playing Debo.
Marcus Mariot is gonna throw some short passes to him.
Ladd and Harrison. That's a tough one. It really is, because,
first of all, I don't think Lad's gonna have that
generational game against Denver. Nobody seems to. I guess I'm
gonna go with Marvin Harrison, but I don't really like
that match up either. I think the forty nine ers
are going to control the pace of play. I think

(02:08:25):
you're going to see a lot of Trey McBride. But
if I have to choose between one or two, I'm
clicking the button on Marvin Harrison.

Speaker 2 (02:08:31):
Thanks for the phone call, Rono. Is there any defense
we need to avoid? Our scale position players playing anybody
that's dominating so far through the first two weeks.

Speaker 4 (02:08:40):
Let's see who wouldn't No. I mean, right now, I
haven't seen anything that I'm targeting. I mean, obviously there's
some bad teams, right, I mean, the Cowboys defense bad,
the Bears defense are bad, but the Cards defense are
playing better, right, so certain teams defenses. The Patriots had
a good week last week. I think the Texans are
playing well. So football is a very week to week game.

(02:09:02):
I like the Falcons defense this week. Why they're playing Carolina.
Will I like them next week? Maybe not? So you know,
that's why I always believe in streaming defenses and playing matchups.

Speaker 2 (02:09:12):
Scott on semininty for Doctor Rode Hi Scott.

Speaker 7 (02:09:16):
Hei, I have Wandell Robinson or Jerry Judy on a
flex position.

Speaker 4 (02:09:23):
Yeah, I don't really love either of them, to be
quite honest with you. You've got to think though, that
Packers are going to be winning and Judy is going
to get some garbage time production. Wandale was sensational last week,
but look, the Chiefs are a little bit better than that.
I guess I probably would go with Wandal just for
the Sunday night, you know, mystique and the fact that
the Chiefs have been beaten through the air before and

(02:09:44):
not necessarily on the ground. And the Giants don't run
the ball very well, So if the Giants won't have
any chance of competing, they're going to have to use
neighbors in Wandee.

Speaker 2 (02:09:52):
All right, thanks, thank you, all golf. We appreciate that.
Let's go to let's see Josh on seveniniy hi, Josh.

Speaker 4 (02:10:00):
Hey, how you doing? Sorry?

Speaker 10 (02:10:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (02:10:01):
I got JK.

Speaker 15 (02:10:02):
Dobbins or Jordan Mason, and then another one Chubba Hubbard
or Kenneth Walker.

Speaker 4 (02:10:08):
All right, First of all, you're playing Walker. Walker looks sensational.
Last week. They're getting the Saints at home. I'm not
sure he should have a great chance for one touchdown,
maybe two. I like JK. Dobbins, but we'll be talking
about Mason in just a minute.

Speaker 2 (02:10:23):
Rono sneaky there, all right, Well on seven on you
go ahead. Well, if you're a question for doctor Rodo.

Speaker 7 (02:10:31):
Yeah, I got Jennings or Tyler Warren.

Speaker 4 (02:10:37):
Yeah. I kind of like Jennings. This week. I think
the way to beat the Cardinals is with short passes.
Ricky Piersoll's more of their deep guy and the bigger
play guy, and the Cardinals don't give up a lot
of big plays. So I think this feels like a
lot of short passes to Jennings and to McCaffrey. Look,
Jennings makes good plays and they need him, and it's good.

(02:10:58):
There's a big game for both teams, so I like Jennings.

Speaker 2 (02:11:00):
All right, what's running back of this group? Walker, Pollard,
Pacheco or Dobbins?

Speaker 4 (02:11:07):
WHOA that was some crazy thing I ever heard?

Speaker 10 (02:11:09):
That?

Speaker 4 (02:11:09):
Was it? Pacheck or Dobbins? That my choice? Yes, give
me JK. Dobbins in a revenge narrative. And because we
don't trust Pacheco. By the way, I gave everybody out
here Baseial Tooton last week. I remember talking about him.
Here's a guy you want to know for this week,
Rashard Smith from Kansas City. If Pachecko can't get the
job done this week, Rashad Smith's gonna have a shot

(02:11:32):
at that job. He was really good at SMU last
year and I think that he could actually do pretty well.
So just keep him on your watch list. He's a
guy that you might be very interested in.

Speaker 2 (02:11:41):
All right, Jordan Love or Justin Herbert this week?

Speaker 4 (02:11:44):
Jordan Loved because you can't run on the Browns, and
I think that he's going to throw for at least
two touchdowns.

Speaker 2 (02:11:49):
All right, there are three people here you need in
this PPR group of five. Three Kamara Brown, Thomas Junior,
Warren or Walker.

Speaker 4 (02:12:01):
Let's see, I'm gonna play Camara and Chase Brown in
a PPR. For sure, Seattle gives up the most receptions
still posing running backs, so that makes Kamara interesting. Chase Brown,
I think he's just gonna have a lot of more opportunities.
Hard to trust Brian Thomas Junior, And I think I
got to go with Kenneth Walker at home.

Speaker 2 (02:12:19):
All right? And David Montgomery or Brian Thomas.

Speaker 4 (02:12:25):
Wow, man, I don't I like Montgomery at home. I
don't like him usually on the road. Brian Thomas has
been so annoying that he's gonna play. I'll give him
a shot only because I don't love Montgomery. And I
think that Thomas is capable of having an explosive day
in not Montgomery.

Speaker 2 (02:12:41):
I'm just gonna tell you something right now. Roto this
person to emailed me the question on that. The last
time he sent me an email was November the twentieth,
twenty fourteen, when he asked for you pierrego Soon, Tory Smith,
Keenan Allen, Marcus Colston or Bishop sanke.

Speaker 4 (02:12:58):
Bisher. Thank you that's the name.

Speaker 2 (02:13:00):
That's how long you know it is? Rono twenty fourteen?
People have been asking you questions. Holy smokes, all right,
last one on the phones. Kay, so you're on seven
ninety for Doctor Roal, go ahead, please?

Speaker 6 (02:13:12):
All right?

Speaker 8 (02:13:12):
I got I got alec I am Anora, Matthew Golden,
DeAndre Hopkins, and I picked up this guy, Diani Brown.

Speaker 7 (02:13:20):
Which one would you start in the flex? Thanks?

Speaker 4 (02:13:23):
Yeah, I think I'm gonna start Golden. I love is
saying all the right things about him. See he feels due.
I like I am a Noora, but not this week. Hopkins.
Don't go chasing last week's points. Jommy Brown is interesting.
I mean, look, if Brian Thomas for some reason can't
get his head straight. Brown was on had an opportunity
to have two touchdowns last week. He caught one early
and he should have caught one late. But I think

(02:13:45):
Matthew Golden is the guy would start.

Speaker 2 (02:13:47):
All right, Ladies and gentlemen, we asked Doctor Rodo once
per week to give us a knockdown, drag out, solidified
winner that will help us in our fantasy leagues. We
present to you Dr rod O's lock of the week.

Speaker 4 (02:14:02):
Yeah, we teezed it earlier. Jordan Mason, there's no Aaron Jones.
I can't even tell you the backup from Minnesota. All
I can tell you is that they said they're in
love with Mason. They think he's going to be the
bell cow back against the Cincinnati Bengal defense. That's we
know how mediocre it is at best, good pass rush,
not great anywhere else. Jordan Mason should one hundred yards

(02:14:23):
and a touchdown. Lock him in.

Speaker 2 (02:14:26):
And that, my friends, is dtor Roto's lock of the week.
Where can we find you between now and Sunday?

Speaker 4 (02:14:37):
And I am East six nine in Central and then
of course you can find me at doctor Roto dot
com and if you're on x A d r r
O t O.

Speaker 2 (02:14:45):
All right, Doc d r r ot O for all
of his programming updates and his great service. Good doctor,
enjoy the arrest of the weekend. We'll talk again next week.
I appreciate the time as always.

Speaker 4 (02:14:55):
Take care. I see all right.

Speaker 2 (02:14:56):
It's doctor Roto with us here on Sports Talk seven
ninety one thirty is our time. Non Florida stories are
coming up, and Ada Rossie, I know you're stunned by
these things. We've done it every Friday for about nine
years now, Doctor Rono, then Non Florida and then we've
got Helly Aaron all things about Clayton Kershaw one thirty
one on Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 25 (02:15:18):
We find interesting stories that cur outside the state of
Florida and share.

Speaker 23 (02:15:26):
Them with the people of hust.

Speaker 4 (02:15:31):
It's time for non Florida. I'll time for non.

Speaker 25 (02:15:41):
Florida story on the Coast to coast will bringing strange.

Speaker 19 (02:15:53):
And wild.

Speaker 25 (02:15:57):
No alligator exales that make you smile.

Speaker 4 (02:16:05):
It's time for last for far in this crazy world,
there's no.

Speaker 2 (02:16:19):
Well, unfortunately my story was flagged by the company for
block content, but I was able to get it, so
it's a legit story. Yeah, but it's a little dicey.
Would you like me to go first, second, or third?
Sports Harvey, Uh, go first, Matt, All right, here we go. Essex,
England gentlemen. An Essex woman says her marriage has fallen apart.

(02:16:45):
You're saying, well, what happened? What happened? Bodycams caught police
officers laughing at her sex toys during a raid on
her house. During the raid, Nicola Corp Said officers from
the Suffolk Police were like quote children in a playground,

(02:17:06):
throwing a g string back and forth and pulling out
thousands of dollars with the erotic gadgets. Out of the
box while joking they were quote sticky thousands.

Speaker 9 (02:17:16):
She.

Speaker 2 (02:17:18):
Complained in Suffolk Police have now paid Nicola compensation after
its professional standards department found the officer's behavior to have
been quote unprofessional and unacceptable. Nicola's marriage has fallen apart
since the incident, saying she blames trauma from the incident
for the divorce, saying it diminished the couple's sex life.

(02:17:40):
The raid, which happened back in October twenty twenty three,
was conducted on the suspicion that a member of her
family was allegedly involved in supply of controlled drugs. Nicola
was not arrested and the police investigation with no charges
or prosecutions. Nicola said one of the male officers was
at the bottom of the bed. He picked up a

(02:18:00):
pair of knickers and he threw them to the other
male officer and he looked down and said, did you
just throw them at me? After they threw the underwear,
they found that box of toys. A young female officer
got it down, put it on the bed, started pulling
out all the things, saying, oh, this is sticky, Oh,
this is sticky. There was a blank ring in the
drawer they made a point of going, oh, look there's

(02:18:21):
a blank ring. They were taking the They were taking
the absolute blank. It was like they were children in
the playground. The way they were acting, it was disgusting.
Suffoc Police denied officers ever touched the sex toys. A
box containing sex toys is found, which they is subject

(02:18:42):
to comment with and lapter from the officers, but at
no point do they touch or play with the items.
The underwear appeared to be moved in jest without any
thought given to the upset. Who could cause for the upset?
This could cause any of the owner. Here's a picture
of her. Why are you showing me a picture of her?

(02:19:05):
I just want to let you know that she's very upset.
Look at her. They did make her like did they
ask her to scowl before taking that picture? She has
a scowler? Can you see Jonathan me in the computer? Okay,
I say so. Just be careful if your house is
being raided by any for any reason like a drugs
or anything, or any sort of illegal activity, put the
sex toys away because the officers may play with them.

(02:19:28):
And that is my non Florida story. Okay, thank you, Matt,
You're welcome.

Speaker 4 (02:19:37):
Me to go.

Speaker 2 (02:19:38):
I don't care. Sure, why not, Matt? What's your favorite
strip club? Oh? The Strip House in Las Vegas. It's
an excellent steakhouse.

Speaker 4 (02:19:46):
Right.

Speaker 2 (02:19:47):
No strip club? Oh, I've not been to one in
probably fifteen or twenty years. Have you ever been to Rix?
I have Vivid, No, ONYX, Yes, XTC. No. All these
clubs and more are owned by a company known as
RCI Holdings Incorporated and on Houston. I'm sorry, RCI Hospitality,

(02:20:07):
and yes, they are Houston based. Okay, State, you know
a lot of you know, should listen to whatever that's
coming up because it could be affecting you.

Speaker 1 (02:20:15):
Well.

Speaker 2 (02:20:15):
Unfortunately, some RCI executives are in hot water, as they
have now been charged with bribing a New York official
with free trips to some of the venues, private dances,
and more to avoid paying more than eight million dollars

(02:20:38):
in sales tax. Authorities, have said Tuesday, New York Attorney
General Letitia James, alleging that RCA gave an auditor at
least thirteen complimentary trips to Florida, including hotels, at hotels
and meals, plus up to five thousand dollars per day

(02:20:58):
for private dances. Did strip clubs, including Tutsis Cabaret in Miami.
The auditor also received free dances, free food, free admission
to the clubs in New York. James saying, quote, the
executives shamelessly used their strip clubs to bribe their way
out of paying million millions of dollars in taxes. So

(02:21:23):
you're saying, strip club operator using legal tactics to avoid
tax tactics to avoid taxes. Correct, this is not a
surprising story at all. Seventy nine counts in a grand
jury indictment unsealed on Tuesday, five executives and three clubs
in Manhattan charged with conspiracy, bribery, tax fraud, and other crimes.

(02:21:47):
So the question people were asking is, are driving around town?
Is all those places still open? I would imagine so,
And I'm going to guess more than just dances was
before given out at some of these clubs. Jonathan, and
a ruling from you play if my radio career is
cut off for some reason, hopefully it's not. I got
a long way to GHO. Still, could I make the

(02:22:08):
transition to strip club? DJ announcer M M, yeah, but
you'd be under three months. You'd be kicked out for improper.
You'd be like these guys and could you benefit? Could
you do the hours though? Could you stay up that light?

Speaker 4 (02:22:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (02:22:22):
Man, you'd be falling asleep. Well, if I'm waking up
with the strippers at noon, my ship doesn't start till
three strippers really wake up two? You know, strippers are
open awake at noon. The original the og wake up, Yeah,
good morning Strippers was two pm. Yeah, we just say yeah. Okay,
Oh forget I asked that question. Move along, Jonathan, what
is your not in Florida story this week? Okay?

Speaker 13 (02:22:45):
The RAHAP City of the Seas Cruise ship had pulled
into a port in San Juan, Puerto Rico on September seventh,
as a passenger disembarked in a very unusual way. USA
Today reported Ze Gonzales Diaz jumped ship with this backpack,
a criminal complaint alleges, which contained fourteen thousand, six hundred dollars,

(02:23:05):
two phones, and five IDs. Two passing jets picked him up.
Customs and Border Protection later detained him near the perto
Rical Capital. Gonzales Das told CBP, Customs Border Protection that
he went overboard because he thought he was going to
have to be taxed due for bringing the currency in.
But it turned out he had a sixteen seven hundred

came with the money right, probably had a lot of money,
then had fourteen thousand dollars left and it was six
thousand dollars in debt and try to jump ship.

the boat.
