Speaker 1 (00:02):
Lunchtimers. This is the Matt Thomas Show ten oh one
in ahe town.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Good morning, everyone, and welcome a two way Tuesday edition
of The Matt Thomas Show with Ross here on Sports
Talk seven ninety Where your.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
Team, My team. America's college basketball team knocked off the
Texas Tech Red Raiders last sign in Loubock, even.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
Though they're not America's college basketball team.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
That would be Duke. No no, no, no, no no,
America's gonna fall in love. Fran Fichella loves the Cougar.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
As a matter of fact, I think fran Fachella wants
to make sweet love to the Houston Cougars.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
That's how much he loves the Houston.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
Probably always great informed cliche analysis from fran Fachilla.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
Oh man, if.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
We ever got him on the show, I'll make sure
you'll take a break or something work, I believe it
or not.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Yike sports RV. He's not listening now, is he. Well?
Speaker 2 (01:00):
I mean we've tried to get him on before. I'm sorry,
we tried to be honest on this show.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Matt. You really think he's a cliche machine? Huh? You
think he's not.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
I've never really paid a whole lot of attention. I
just know he's just a huge Calvin Sampson fan.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
For that, he's not good in my book, Well, who
couldn't love Calvin Sampson. Despite his career being marred by
several cheating scandals, he's just done a really great job
and really built up this Cougar's probe that was.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
A one time thing.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
And by the way, what he got a five year
ban for basically not basically it's one hundred percent legal mass.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Well that's okay. It still was a completely illegal then.
So Matt, just because you break a marijuana law when
it was actually on the books doesn't.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Mean that you know what you didn't break. You locked,
you're about to get blocked like that guy blocked.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
Me this morning.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
I mean, completely disgraceful NCAA sanctions.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
But other than that, I.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
Mean, it's just been great, fantastic stuff from Kelvin Sampson.
One of the great all time college coaches.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
First ballot probat my brother pro, first ballot Basketball Hall
of Fame m hmm, one of the goats. Absolutely, By
the way, shout out to Texas Tech. That place was
rocking last night. Fifteen thousand people at the Wow, schmited
supermarkets arena not to be confused with the airline.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
I'm very confused. Yeah, is the supermarkets.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
Like the airline? Yeah, then not owned by the air
There's delays in every single line.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
Oh, they lose your grocery bags.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
I mean, this is great material, but I want to
know the foundation of why this is coming in so quick.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
I'm feeling great, Matt. I can tell my gosh, you
have come in. I mean all kinds of blazing.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
So I did tweet yesterday sorry for your loss at
Pat Mahomes, who was at the game yesterday.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
That's a shame. I actually dropped a like on.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Somebody put that AI picture of Pat Mahomes crying with
Kelvin Samson.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
That was the way I saw that too. That was
very fun.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
You know, I'm look an eight year old when it
comes to these AI pictures.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
They always make me laugh.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
Well, the problem is, as much as I want to laugh,
there are sometimes that makes me very scared because I
get fooled about what is being said or what is
being shown. So as long as we I would give
this advice to you and anybody out there, let's just
be super careful what we consume. And what we believe
to be AI and what is you know, because it
very well could be AI and it's completely false. But
there is a photo of Pat Mahomes in a in
(03:28):
a Chiefs uniform shaking Kelvin.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
Samson's hands, and that is pretty funny. So and Ross,
you and I have talked about this before.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
You and I in particular, we smack talk each other's university, right,
I mean, it.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
Is unbelievable we've been doing We've.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Been talking smack about University Houston, University of Texas for
fifteen years.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
Yeah, it is unbelievable that you continue to talk smack
about you of h when they've really just done nothing.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
Well, all I can tell you is we're gonna win
another big twelve regular season championship. It's gonna be a
worst case of two seed in the NCAA Tournament's get
that one. See, maybe let's go. I'm ready.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
And next week when I go to New Orleans, I'll
be taking some VENMO money from you and we'll be
putting down a certain wageer towards our beloved to Houston Cougar.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Yeah. I'm feeling much better that now.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
I felt better when it was twelve to one, and
now that they keep winning, it might keep going whittling down.
But it was nine to one last week checked.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Now, Remember my gut feeling was the Cougar is only
gonna lose one conference game.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Yes they have. Yes, you tried to say zero, and
I backed you off of that.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
I know I almost went back to two, but I'm like,
you know, I gotta stand on my staying firm on this.
So they're sixteen and one in the conference. They have
three conference games left.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
But what are do you know what they are? You know,
I'd have to look it up. Okay, I got it.
I got it.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Home for Cincinnati, dub home for Kansas, dub at Baylor. Duh,
you're all good.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
Those last two could be kind of tricky. You have though.
Kansas is in the same team.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
They were the last couple of Baylor's five hundred and
the big twelve. Okay, that may be one of my
five best gut feelings.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
Yeah, because normally they're really bad.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
Thank you very much for Ross. That's strike three so
far on the insulting people today.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
I told you I think I think I'm like twenty
percent meaner to you when you're on the road. Maybe
it's subconscious.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
Some of it.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
I think it's fully conscious, ondred percent of it it's subconscious.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
Are you kidding me?
Speaker 2 (05:17):
By the way, we are with you today until eleven fifty,
We've got astrospring training, baseball, and ross.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
They're gonna play today. The weather is much better and
were than it was yesterday.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
Yeah, do we have anybody and we can get a
West Palm weather report.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Well, the forecast yesterday was deluge.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
And it was like the game was called like it's
seven thirty in the morning, like we're not playing this game.
I think the entire state of Florida was under a
severe thunderstorm. I think games all across the state were
basically canceled.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Okay, so I want to go.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
Back to my central port of this so uh. And
maybe I'm just built differently, but I think smack talk
among your buddies in college is absolutely of one available
to us.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
We should do it.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
As long as we're not taking really really bad cheap shots,
you know, insulting your heritage or insulting your family or insulting.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
I mean, you know, there's a line, and.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
I did, by no means that I crossed the line
yesterday when I said sorry, if your lost Pat Mahomes,
that's just regular old smack talk. He's not gonna respond
to it. He doesn't care. He gets nine million tweets.
He's also worth five hundred million.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Dollars at least.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
If a's anybody who's not gonna worry about a little
old radio host in Houston announcer, it's gonna be me.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
It's gonna be Pat Mahomes. But I had one guy
not only unfollowed me ROSSI, but he blocked me. Love
it blocked me. That's good. You don't want him in
your life. I don't want And he's a Texas Tech guy,
and he's a six nineteen sixties music connoisseur, which probably
puts him out a demo which you know by but
(07:00):
it's not the here nor there.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
But then this morning, when I woke up, and I
know I was sporadic sleeping habits, but I put a
tweet out this morning, I said, look, my son went
to Texas Tech.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
I love Lubbock. And you know, if you've listened to
the show for any length of time how much I
love Lubbock.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
You didn't have to send this, Matt just because people
are being soft.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
But I was gonna do it regardless of that guy
or not. I was like, because you know, I mean,
this is the thing, is that you wish that everybody
that followed you on Twitter listened to your show every day.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
No, but they don't. So I'm just saying I am
very pro Texas Tech. I absolutely love it.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
And if I would have known more about Lubbock when
I was in younger, I might have gone there. They
don't have much of a communications school, so it was
not really on the top of my list. But I
loved going there. I love when Uveh plays there. I
wish it could have gone last night.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
But at a Rockets game here today, plus the show,
I think Lubbock's fantastic. It's a great college town now.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
Basically people that have told me for generations, including my son,
my wife too, she went to Texa Tech.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
For a while.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
Either you love Lubbock and you want you want to
spend as much time there, or you want to get
home as fast as possible because you're largely homesick and
you don't like West Texas. It's there's no middle ground.
It's either you love Lubbock or you hate it.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
So I love it. But this JIBEBRONI I was like,
are you kidding me?
Speaker 2 (08:17):
Not only did he unfollow me, which again on people
unfollow things for bad tweets or they don't like him
and you argue, but to block me, I would say,
one small thing, ross and please excuse my French on
this bitch, please, and I'm done.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
Thank you, Matt. He's very obviously very upset about the
loss last night.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
Great crowd. Do you know what the most impressive thing
about the entire night was?
Speaker 3 (08:41):
What was the most impressive thing about the entire night?
Speaker 4 (08:43):
That?
Speaker 1 (08:44):
Dude? Did you see the putt? I did not. You
didn't watch the game? Did you? Next?
Speaker 3 (08:49):
I had it on in the background. I I was,
you know, looking up every now and then checking the score.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
There is a guy college kid that put a bug
golf ball on the base line on one another floor
on the floor and rolled a putt ninety four feet
to the other side of the baseline and it went
through the hole to win the prize. Oh wow, nice impressed.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
So so, first of all, we do that all the
time at Tota Center. Yeah, for the Rockets games, and
people generally speaking aren't very close.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
The last guy was close.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
Yeah, but I mean it's it's been it's been rough
watching honestly.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
So.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
And the thing is I can't figure it out. Maybe
somebody can help me out with this.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
I don't know what the guy won, but it better
be a damn good prize. That's a hard ass thing
to accomplish.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
Four foot on hardwood on hardwood, pretty.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
Tough, Tota Center. At least they put it on like
a green Felter or something.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Yeah, they put the felt out that was and then
as soon as he won, and I mean, give the
guy the kid props he were a no vettern and
bumped hips with Pat Mahomes. Oh really, Yeah, that's cool.
Good for him. The thrill of a lifetime that may
be in itself was the award that he should.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
You know, they get a one dollars gift card to
that supermarket.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
By the way, best.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
Name of the night last night for Texas Tech. They're
starting center ROSSI. His name is Federico Federico.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
I like that. That sounds like an opera singer. Hey,
did you know Federico Federico. So he's going to be
at the hobby center.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
Would you like to do a Federico and Federico impersonation?
We come back.
Speaker 3 (10:36):
No, I think we're good. I don't think I'm up
to part my opera singing.
Speaker 5 (10:40):
Man.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
I could do it if you want me to. Now
let's have Connor do it. Connor, you wanna do a
little opera Federico Federico. Uh sure, I'll give him my best.
Go all right, ladyship.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
When we come back, Connor d McGovern is going to
sing in prisoning Federico Federco coongarer is from Finland?
Speaker 1 (10:58):
Is he really? Now?
Speaker 2 (11:00):
I will say this, what was missus Federico thinking which
she named her son Federico. There's probably a family name
of some sort.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
I don't know now.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
My uncle that he rest was named by my my
dad was Jerry. It's twin and his brother Thomas. My
last name is Thomas, So it does happen occasionally that
my uncle Tom was Tom Thomas, Tom Thomas.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
Yeah, that's pretty funny. I don't think he was a
big fan of it.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
Honestly, do you think Lori markin and is scared about
being the seven time finished player of the Year. Now
with Federico Federrico into the fold.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
Federico Federico was two for two of the slam dunk
last night, played twenty nine minutes.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
Just climbing the ranks of all time great finish players.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
Can you all right?
Speaker 2 (11:47):
I'll start, I'll go with Federico, Federico, I'll go LORI
market in and I give up.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
Oh look, you should have made me he's slogan.
Speaker 2 (11:58):
No, I think I think he's got a uh nationalization there. Yeah,
all right, if you'd like to join us today, let
me ask you all a question. When you smack talk
with your buddies, can you basically that'll get away with
college stuff more than you can anything else, Like you're
not gonna make fun of your wife or your girlfriend,
or your job, or your hair, or your stomach or
(12:22):
your facial hair or your clothes.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
You have boundaries on that.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
For me and my bros, college smack talk is just
a rite of passage, and I just there's like I hear.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
Ross and I gotta get your break here. I hear
cougar high all the time, all the freaking time. It
does not bother me.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
I hope you noticed that. I don't use that one, Matt.
It's low hanging fruit.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
It's the low hanging fruit. I mean, if you're gonna
insult me and tell me you got if you're you
wing to bash on you, of EG, you got much
better material like I'll give you. I'll give you if
i'll help you. All out Conference USA, the American Rappers
and Stadium Half Faiins Pavilion Crime. I'll give you. I'll
(13:13):
give it to you. Most of that has been resolved,
not all of it.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
Seven one three two one two five seven ninety seven

Speaker 1 (14:59):
Fire on the Mounts Brier.
Speaker 6 (15:00):
The leader lost the ball, bounces around, Cryer has a
kickout using left wing three.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
Got it Mi Low's use and with a.
Speaker 6 (15:09):
Massive left wing three to put the Cougars in front
by six, Walton on the bounce top of the key
launches the three in and out.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
There's the horn and.
Speaker 6 (15:20):
The Cougars win for the second season in a row.
The Cougars are the Big twelve champions sixty nine sixty one.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
The Final and America rejoices record ratings for that game yesterday.
I believe seventeen million people watched that game yesterday between
Texas Tech and Houston. Is that accurate? No, I'm trying
(15:53):
to catch you off guard.
Speaker 3 (15:54):
I was like, there's no way, yeah, but I mean no,
there's nothing else going going on.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
Monday night. Raw was one. Like I said, well then
you know why. You know, the rest of networks did
said we can't put a game on the night. We
can't think it true.
Speaker 3 (16:12):
It was like the Super Bowl exactly, and nobody could
put anything on but reruns.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
That's exactly right, by the way.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
Today's tweet of the Day UH is brought to you
by out south Side rich sixty four Rossie. He says,
when that kid hit at Tech, hit the putt and
won the prize, I was shocked he didn't get a
flag for hitting Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 3 (16:31):
Hmmm, unnecessary roughness. It's funny, it's a chuckler.
Speaker 1 (16:39):
It's a chuckler. It's it's a tweet today. So I
got the block of the day and the tweeted to
day right there. We're proud of you. I didn't do
anything seven one three two one two five seven.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
All right, So Ross, you and I go at each
other with Texas and Houston generally, speaking with your friends
and your life, how far can you take college s mac.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
Uh, I don't do it that much.
Speaker 3 (16:59):
You're You're the one more obsessed about it with any
than anybody I probably know, which again is crazy considering you.
You represent a program that hasn't won a national championship
in any major sport ever and golf. Yeah, like I said,
major sport.
Speaker 1 (17:15):
Mmm. Well, I'm gonna tell you this right now, and
I mean this in all sincerity. Mm hm. And you
can't You're not supposed to think this way, but this
is just the reality of it.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
If they don't win the national championship, or least I
should said to may check that if they don't get
to the final four, I will be devastated. They're getting
to the final four, I think, and that means aeron
anybody that hates me or anybody wants to tease me.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
If you're gonna send me sorry for your loss, I
fully expect that you will have earned it. I will
have absolutely earned it.
Speaker 2 (17:55):
But if they do go to the final four, I
will be even more insufferable.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
That I know I'm.
Speaker 3 (18:01):
Yeah, what if they win it all?
Speaker 2 (18:02):
Though, then you're probably going to have to I don't
know what I'm going to do because I don't know
what that's you understand, Ross, And I don't mean to.
I don't want to go show age here, but I'm
going to tell you. I'm fifty two years old, Okay.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
I have been a Houston Cougar fan since nineteen eighty two.
I have been a Cougar fan for forty two years
of my life. I went to college at the University Houston.
I met my wife at the University Houston.
Speaker 2 (18:35):
I have called their basketball and their football games on
two separate occasions.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
I do some television for them. Right now. I am
as Cougar as it it gets Cougar. Okay.
Speaker 2 (18:47):
I can't handle a well we competed hard and loss
to the sweet sixteen level.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
I can't handle that. I don't want that. It's not fair.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
Okay, So there is no could uh, hard fought season, damn,
but breaks when you didn't go your way?
Speaker 1 (19:12):
What else? Good job? Huh? It's hard. It's about winning now.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
If you're a little if you're Texas, that just gets
in the tournament as the last four team going in
win a game or two.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
Hey, fine, if you're I just don't expect more.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
Yeah, I mean if you're like, who's a uh, if
you're Iowa State or if you're a I don't know.
Speaker 3 (19:38):
I would state it's probably got some expectations. Okay, but
I mean give me give me a missouf you're if
you're Missouri, I mean no, nobody in Missouri is thinking
they're going to the final four.
Speaker 1 (19:49):
No, So if you win a tournament game or two, Man,
this was a fun season. I I don't have time
for that. An'ybody got time for not winning the day.
I'm going to the final four. And I can't tell
the coach Sampson because they get mad at me. He
will get very I mean, let me ask you this.
You're you're you, You're an alum.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
You didn't finish schoolbody, but you went there and you
still probably represent the University of Texas.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
I don't represent anything there. Now. For their teams, you're ruin.
Excuse me? You like them? Is that is that better? Yeah?
Not an ambassador? Well, god knows, I wouldn't. I wouldn't
expect them to.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
I still get emails asking for donations.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
I bet you do say a new address? Who is?
Speaker 3 (20:33):
They don't mind me cutting the checks if they want them.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
So you have been a bridesmaid two.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
Straight years, not even a bridesmaid.
Speaker 2 (20:42):
Well you were a bridesmaid one year, and you were like,
you were like a groomsman. Uh no, you were an
usher one year.
Speaker 7 (20:48):
No.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
I mean they didn't even make the final either year.
Speaker 1 (20:51):
Okay, so aren't you ready for them to win the
whole thing now, aren't you? You're just like, be nice.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
I've drinken from the Championship Cup.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
Yeah, I was on campus when they won. You know
what it's like. I don't know what it's like. It
was great.
Speaker 3 (21:07):
I got three final fours back to back to back
with maybe the greatest college ship of all time, and
I got buppus for a national championship.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
I need more.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
Not only that, but Texas beat the greatest team of
all time. If people forget. ESPN was literally running a
series of that USA C team going up against like
the Four Horsemen and great teams, not the Detroit Lions,
but like the oh one Miami. It was like, here's
how we break down the hypo they had, like Kirk
(21:36):
Kurbstreet on there breaking down hypothetical matchups against like nineteen
forty one Army. They're the greatest team of all time
and they were gonna beat every team throughout history, and
Vince Young and Texas beat them. Oh it's beautiful.
Speaker 2 (21:51):
Drew and west Chase at ten twenty seven on seven
Hointy Drew, good morning.
Speaker 5 (21:56):
Good morning, Good morning. Kemp Folk solo Thomas here. Uh
just got to say, see.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
Careful, careful, be careful, be careful. Brother, all right here
you go, keep it family friendly. Drew, gotta be careful.
Speaker 5 (22:16):
Oh yeah, yeah, this is uh, this is a Christian
job already. But uh no, it's all good. Man. What
a team, what a city, what a coach? So proud
of him man. And to get to your question of
the day, I think you can. I think you can
take it pretty far. I mean it's really no hard feelings.
I mean it's not something to be sensitive about. It's
(22:38):
all in good fun. Like I could say, you know, uh,
ut is a culture full of brats that throw trash
on the field when they don't way you know something
that you know it.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
Only happened that one time.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
I mean, Texas, Texas, Let's make it honest, Texas tack
is known for being in b f E.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
Texas number two. It smells their half the year, which
I don't mind. It is what it is.
Speaker 2 (23:04):
Three they throw tortillas, which is one of the dumbest
bits I've ever heard of my entire life.
Speaker 1 (23:08):
Yeah, yeah, there's Raider Rash. I mean, anybody knows the
Raider rashes?
Speaker 5 (23:13):
Yeah, yeah, right, I mean yeah. And you know, I
was listening to the show since started, and I noticed
Ross was in a little bit of a mood, and
so I was like, wondering why. Then I scoured the
top twenty five of the college basketball rankings on man
and then I was like, no, that can't be right.
(23:34):
So I double with Triple Chick. No, and then I
went and looked at the records. What's sixteen and eleven?
Speaker 1 (23:43):
A man, that's the way, No, Drew, you're checking the
wrong rankings.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
Texas is number one Texas, hey, Drew, Actually number one.
Texas is number one in basketball. Texas is number one
in college basketball.
Speaker 1 (23:56):
Fact, yeah, there's no argument to that.
Speaker 2 (23:59):
Of course, it's the all or basketball and it's the
women's game, which is fine.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
Yeah, Matt, it's great. Don't be chauvinist. Texas is one
I'm respecting number one in the country.
Speaker 1 (24:10):
Maybe for respecting you. T is greatness in women's basketball,
all right.
Speaker 2 (24:15):
Astro's update Joe spot Of giving us the daily update
on what's happening with the Local nine, his spring training
squad taking on the Are they taking on the Mets?
I don't know who there, doesn't really matter. I think
it is all right. We've got the broad we really should.
But we know who renew BLOCKO is going to pitch today.
Speaker 1 (24:32):
How about that? Love it? There's a breaking news for you.
Just stay healthy. I don't care how many runs again,
just give us seven runs and two winnings.
Speaker 2 (24:38):
We no discomfort, yeah, no, absolutely zero to comfort, discomfort
all comfort seven one three two one two five seven

By the way, I got worried from an Instagram buddy
that the winner of that ninety four foot putt gon ross.
I'm gonna have to give you a guess here what
he won. Let's just say it's less than about three
hundred bucks uh A two hundred old gift card to
(26:04):
the tractor supply. That's actually not a terrible guess uh.
Free tumbleweed removal.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
Ooh, he spun a wheel before the putt and he
won a pair of AirPods.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
Are you serious that is that's weak.
Speaker 3 (26:22):
I mean, I guess college basketball budget's probably limited for
Texas Tech college basketball sponsors also limited.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
That's pretty bad. I mean, come on, give the Pat mahomes,
cut the kid a check, pay for a semester of
tuition or something. Oh my gosh, that's terrible, absolutely terrible.
All right?
Speaker 2 (26:47):
Uh seven one three two one two five seven ninti.
Seven one three two one two five seven NINTI. Is
how you reach our show if you want to get
in today, we are having a shorter show today. We
got gut feelings at eleven twenty this afternoon this morning,
I should say eleven twenty this morning. So if you
want to partake in set event that is coming up
in about forty five minutes from now.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
From Brian McTaggart, real quick for we go back on
the phones.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
Pedro leone is a Grade one at mcl strain and
is out for quote a while.
Speaker 3 (27:18):
I was gonna do all this at the news at noon, Matt.
We don't have the news at eleven o'clock.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
Nope, nope, nope, nope, none of that today. Sean Duban
has shoulder inflammation and to shut down.
Speaker 1 (27:29):
M that does not sound good.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
Something called Otto and then Gaither have been reassigned to
minor league camp. Okay, that's fine. Your and Alvarez and
Jeremy Panea will play on Thursday, okay, and Josel Tuove
will get in a game in left field later this week.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
Leut's go, baby, the left field Experiment.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
Do you feel like we need to record some of
our shows now and play them back later this year? No,
I don't want to hear any of this. I sure, yeah,
because right now your glass is externally full.
Speaker 3 (28:03):
So fu yeah, we don't want to hear I don't
want to hear any of this. When he starts butchering walls.
Oh and like Chas McCormick strikes out seventy six times.
Speaker 8 (28:11):
In a row.
Speaker 3 (28:11):
Oh, oh god, when like three pitchers get hurt. I
don't want to hear any of my optimism from spring.
It's gonna make me even more sad.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
I do think we should record, so I told you.
Speaker 3 (28:22):
Every year we go to spring training. Every year I
come out of there like, yeah, let's go baby, one
hundred wins. You were feeling good?
Speaker 2 (28:29):
Yeah, Kyle and Parland at ten thirty eight on seven
Ounty Kyle good morning to you.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
Good morning Matt Ross. Hope you guys are doing well.
Thank you.
Speaker 9 (28:38):
UH got to comment, you know you talk about these schools,
you know you of h and Texas has pretty classy
fans compared to the Arizona fans.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
I don't know if you saw.
Speaker 9 (28:50):
What they did the other day at the BYU game
that that's uncalled for. I know by you had some
bad fans up in Utah with the Utah Jazz Special,
but I don't know if you heard what they did.
But there's no room for that in the sport. That
it was kids around and stuff, how you felt.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
No religion, The religion is off limits. It's one hundred
percent off limits. And unfortunately it is low hanging fruit
for people that play BYU to do that, and it's
uncalled for. Now, that's not my religion. I don't quite
understand their religion, but that's not that's not my place
(29:28):
to judge that.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
So you can't do that.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
You can't talk about ethnicity, You can't talk about somebody's kids,
somebody's wife. The smack talk we're talking about is I
mean again, if you're gonna smack talk me, you're gonna
make fun of the Cougar high bit. You're gonna make
fun of the fact that our fans don't fill the building,
that we've had a bunch of different coaches. Our facilities
weren't great until about five or six years ago. There's
plenty of good old fashioned smack talk you can get in,
(29:55):
Like when I like Texas State, I mean basically ross
and we've talked about before. It's basically enrollment in Texas eate, right,
I mean, let's give it, let's call it, let's call it.
Speaker 3 (30:03):
As we see, except for since Rady is close to
ninety nine percent.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
I mean, it is what it is. So you're not
gonna you know, we're not judging too much. But it
is happening.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
To your point, Yeah, to your point, Kyle, it is
happening way too much. And all we're getting from these
institutions is I'm sorry. And uh if I was that
that faith, I would be offended by that.
Speaker 1 (30:25):
And uh, I think it's uncalled for. But it's happening
a lot. And the only thing that, first.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
Of all, there's no justification for it. But BYU fans
have been rather boisterous over the years, and certainly when
they grow up, they become Jazz fans, and they're crumb
and the Jazz fans are typically some of the worst
in the NBA with their blank talking back to NBA
players that do insult their ethnicity, that do insult their relationships,
that do insult things. So I'm not saying that an
(30:55):
eye for an eye because it's not the case. Because
what they did the other day, and it's happened to
a lot of b games, it's pathetic.
Speaker 1 (31:01):
Frankly, Yes, I just wanted to see how you felt
about it.
Speaker 9 (31:06):
Man, Oh my god, I know, so I appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (31:08):
Yeah, yeah, there's it's just get out. The religion is
completely off limits. Thanks cough of the phone call. I
can't imagine anybody going, oh man, I mean, seriously, Ross,
would you imagine attacking and ethnicity or religion?
Speaker 7 (31:19):
Go?
Speaker 1 (31:20):
That was a really good line. I'm really proud of
myself on that one.
Speaker 3 (31:22):
Uh yeah, maybe off air in private with people, you know,
you know what I'm saying, like, of that's that religion
or of that Yeah, eas you had a Mormon buddy,
might make a Mormon joke.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
It depends, but it depends on who.
Speaker 3 (31:35):
That you're friends, right, If your friends is what I'm
saying you don't go up to the Mormon church and
start shouting stuff.
Speaker 5 (31:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
I have a Mormon friend who we tease each other
about the food that Mormons like to eat.
Speaker 3 (31:43):
And it's a joke, but it's but it's very very
if you're close friends with somebody, nothing is nothing is
off limits with the real bros.
Speaker 1 (31:50):
Yes, I mean Ross for years in this show would
play gunfire when bring up the University of Houston.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
I'm sad I don't have that instant replay machine anymore.
Those good times.
Speaker 2 (32:03):
Thankfully, Connor has some tact and will never do such
a thing like that here on the radio show, and
for that we thank him very much. Uh seven one
three two one two five seven ninety seven one three
two one two five seven onty uh Ross. The NFL
Combine begins tonight.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
Excited, huge, can't wait. It is such a big deal
that they're doing it at night now really, Yeah, makes
kind of sense. Anything NFL does put on in primetime
be fine. I guess well, she dur Sanders won't be there. Hellbody,
(32:39):
Ashton gent the Yesterday is not going to compete at
all either.
Speaker 3 (32:43):
He will not be said, I've heard he will. He
has refused to sign with Sports Thomas Sports Enterprises.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
Thomas Sports Enterprises. Beef is not bullish on as Ashton genty, but.
Speaker 1 (32:53):
They're bullish on Will Levis. Let me tell you, you
can't wait for me to be wrong. Oh this creat
I'm kind of scared. Actually you should be. I mean,
I've never prayed for a man to get hurt. But
oh no, that's too much.
Speaker 3 (33:15):
I kid, I kid, I really knew you can hear
you grit in your teeth.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
Seven one three two one two. I'm not gonna say
any more than a segment. Yeah, seven one three two
one two five seven outy seven one three two one
two five seven einty. We're with you today until eleven fifty,
so please come in and say hello to us. We've
got gut feelings coming up at eleven twenty. We have
Rockets basketball tonight against the Milliwaukee Bucks. We'll discuss that
(33:41):
among the things, plus Astros baseball spring training. Back in

ten forty three, and back to me telling you to
go to look put it in your browser. You've heard
me talk about Center Genics Center genicshealth dot com. They
are the true TRT experts. You got a lot of options.
I understand when it comes to testosterone clinics, So I
go here? Should I go there?
Speaker 3 (34:02):

places there's just gonna take your levels and probably not
even look at it and give you some stuff sen
you on your way, or they're gonna give you stuff
out of a bottle that's not tailored to you. You
have types of testosterones in your body at different levels.
You want tailored treatments that are specifically for you the individual.
That's why you go to Cynergenics Health dot Com. Synergenics

jen Xhealth dot com. Centergenics Health dot Com.
Speaker 2 (34:42):
Mattin Ross return return on Sports Talk seven ninety ten
forty nine The Matt Thomas Show with Ross. It's very
nice to have all of you with us on these
Tuesday Astros. Baseball coming up at eleven fifty and we'll
have an old show ten to eleven fifty tomorrow as well.
(35:03):
Got feelings coming up in a half an hour from now.
Rockets against the Bucks Tonight. We'll have it for you
here on seven on the beginning with the launch pad
at six.
Speaker 3 (35:10):
O'clock, hosted by sports RB Ross Villarial. That is correct,
Matt live from the Toyota Center.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
So I'll see you letter tonight. Looking forward to it.
Speaker 2 (35:20):
Yeah, six thirty the network pregame, and then we'll have
the tip time little past seven o'clock San Antonio.
Speaker 1 (35:25):
After that Tomorrow night, we'll I tell.
Speaker 3 (35:29):
You, Oh, Fred van Vlitt listed is questionable for today's game.
Speaker 1 (35:33):
That's good, better than doubtfo or out put it that way.
Speaker 2 (35:37):
Yes, he has missed let's see how many eight straight games?
M Let me ask you this real quickly before before
we get back to the NFL talk. Do you think
Fred has done enough by being out to basically tell
the Rockets man you really need me.
Speaker 3 (35:54):
You might want to opt in on that Rockets, you.
Speaker 1 (35:57):
Know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (35:58):
Yeah, I don't know if they will go with a
opt out and have him a renegotiation, maybe a longer contract.
Speaker 1 (36:05):
I guess dollars.
Speaker 3 (36:06):
But he's only I keep thinking he's older than he is.
He's only thirty.
Speaker 1 (36:10):
Yeah, I mean, I don't know if I don't know
how he would take to being a reserve or.
Speaker 3 (36:16):
I'm sorry, thirty one Today his birthday, Happy birthday. So
he's thirty one.
Speaker 1 (36:20):
Let's get him a gift. How about the get I
think he's doing. Okay, he's making forty million dollars a year.
And by the way, he's a good dude. Okay, I
want to make sure I'm very clear on this, but
this shows you how crazy the NBA is.
Speaker 2 (36:34):
Fred's a nice player, right, Yes, one time All Star,
one time All Star, part of a world champion Toronto
team a handful of years back. Yes, and has been
a huge part of the reason why they asked the
Rockets are now relevant. It's compared to a couple of
years ago when they were not and you had to
take a flying guys, and you had to you know,
and in this case, when the Rockets were with three
(36:54):
straight sixty loss seasons, you got to overpay.
Speaker 1 (36:56):
Sometimes get back on the map. And so he's done
quite well for himself.
Speaker 3 (37:00):
They needed to get to the cap floor. They also
needed to spend the money to attract a veteran like
Fred van Vliet. So it wasn't overpay, but it's I mean,
it's worked wonders here in my opinion.
Speaker 2 (37:10):
Yeah, I mean, no one ever goes if you're an
anti Fred guys because you just don't like Fred's game.
Speaker 1 (37:16):
But you're not going. You're not saying you're anti Fred
because he makes forty million dollars. Yeah, I'm cutting I
ain't cutting the check. I don't care. I'm happy Fred's
here again.
Speaker 2 (37:24):
I like him a lot. I think if you all
get to know him a little bit, you'd like him
a lot. And I think he likes it here so
much that I think he would actually take less money
to stay here.
Speaker 1 (37:33):
Hmm. No, he and I've never had this conversation because
that's not my business.
Speaker 3 (37:37):
Come on, Matt, you're supposed to be a Rockets insider.
Speaker 1 (37:39):
Oh so you want me to go to a guy
and say, hey, would you take Lex money please? Mm hmm, Okay,
I'll do that.
Speaker 2 (37:45):
You know, if they win tonight and I talked to
him in the post game, Sho'll be the first question?
Hey Fred, how good was it good? I know you
want to talk about getting back on the floor. But
let's be honest, what's your contract situation?
Speaker 3 (37:53):
Yeah, now that sounds great.
Speaker 1 (37:56):
Those are probably questions you'll get nowhere else in here
on Rockets Radio.
Speaker 2 (37:59):
But uh again, I like him. I hope he's around.
I think he's a really good influence. I think he's
really good influence on the younger basketball players in his team.
Speaker 1 (38:07):
And then the look the Rockets haven't been as good.
Speaker 2 (38:09):
They haven't they've been missing a clutch factor since he's
been out these eight games.
Speaker 3 (38:13):
I think the word that continues to be used by
e Mudoka is organized. He gets them organized. That's absolutely
he works. Yep, it's right, all.
Speaker 1 (38:21):
Right, NFL combined is tonight.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
By the way, Dimiko Ryans is going to speak later today,
and you and I have not talked about this, honestly,
and and it'll be up to Nick Asero to speak tomorrow.
In all seriously, is there.
Speaker 1 (38:35):
Anything you want to hear from Jamaico or are we
just looking for the typical Dimiko cliche stuff that he's
given us the last couple of years. Is there anything
that to me? I'll give you one thing, and he's
not going to give away company secrets here. But how how.
Speaker 2 (38:50):
Much do they want to bring Stefan Diggs back wrong
side of thirty ROSSI coming off in ACL would he
take a discount? And more import I guess the bigger
question would be is how much interest around the NFL
right now is there in Stefan Dicks?
Speaker 1 (39:08):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (39:08):
I mean have they talked about how they loved him
here he was voted to captain. Stefan Diggs talked about
loving it here yep. And if it's I think, if
it's the right deal. Another he was here basically on
a prove it deal.
Speaker 5 (39:21):
Right.
Speaker 1 (39:21):
Nick Caterario loves him improve it deals, loves those deals.
Speaker 2 (39:25):
So honestly, Ross, this would be a gut feeling I
would get wrong.
Speaker 3 (39:29):
But now you should put your name on it.
Speaker 1 (39:31):
No way? Know how By the way, Oh did I
really Okay?
Speaker 2 (39:35):
Well, I'll stick with that, But I will say this,
I will take the l on that one, and I'm
okay with that. That's okay because the reality is this,
I don't unless they go after a wide receiver in
the first round of the draft. They are Remember how
two years ago we were worried about how bad their
wide receiver room was.
Speaker 1 (39:52):
It will be worse if they don't.
Speaker 2 (39:56):
Discuss bringing in a legitimate number two receiver to compliment
Niko College.
Speaker 3 (40:00):
Even then, he's kind of just a possession guy. He's
not a game breaker. You're missing that element big time
with Tank Dell, so they're gonna have to dress otherwise.
Speaker 1 (40:07):
Yep. And I would likely via the draft.
Speaker 2 (40:10):
Because I don't think I don't think they would go
first round with the receiver and then bring him back to.
Speaker 1 (40:20):
Again. I don't know what you know.
Speaker 2 (40:21):
Look, no one's giving us the intel inside there, but
I I can't imagine spending an out of money on
a number two if or maybe Stefon Diggs is a
number three, unless Stefan thinks, unless Dick thinks he's a
number two. I mean, who's to say, I don't know.
That's why to me, and I want you for the
last time to walk me through this.
Speaker 1 (40:39):
Okay, okay.
Speaker 2 (40:41):
Why weren't you not bothered by the fact that Texans
just cut the contract up and said we're just going
to cut it down to a year because at least
if he's hurt and he comes back and he likes
it here, you you would have had two more years
of this.
Speaker 1 (40:54):
Why I wasn't bothered?
Speaker 3 (40:56):
Yeah, when did I say I was on board with it,
and I thought it was a great idea. The feeling it, No,
it was curious to me. I didn't understand it. I
still don't understand it. I said it at the time, Matt.
Speaker 1 (41:09):
I don't think I think you were doing a different show.
Oh my god, I said, I didn't understand it.
Speaker 3 (41:13):
But I guess, you know, I always try to see
the lens of why, because I don't think Nick Cassari
was stupid. So the only reason it made sense to me,
I guess, is because he thought he was going to
get his best effort if he was on a proven deal.
I don't know what the cap implications were. I didn't
understand it.
Speaker 1 (41:29):
So at its core, though, why would you give up
a second round pick? An extra one?
Speaker 2 (41:33):
But why would you give up a second round pick
for a guy that was only guaranteed to play for
you one year? That's the thing that struck me at
the moment, those last two years of boy.
Speaker 3 (41:41):
I think it was a he would there was a
pushing of the chips of all.
Speaker 1 (41:44):
I think it was.
Speaker 3 (41:47):
We we we don't know that it's gonna The goal
was super Bowl last year. That's what it was they
got the division round again, and if Digs and Dell
were healthy, I mean they would have at least been
better off.
Speaker 1 (41:59):
But I think.
Speaker 3 (42:00):
It was Nick Cassario first of all, Again he loves
proved deals for whatever reason. He thinks he gets best
effort from guys in general. He has We've seen that
with some other people. But it was that, and then
it was it was pushing all in for this year
as far as the cap implications or this year being
twenty twenty four.
Speaker 2 (42:19):
Because right now, as it stands, give me the characteristics
of Stefan Diggs and needs to come back. Unless you
give it, you get a sweetheart friendly deal back, because
most NFL general managers would how old as Dick's thirty one,
I think he's thirty thirty one somewhere in that neighborhood
coming off in acl which is not a devastating injury anymore. Yeah,
(42:41):
he'll be thirty two starting next season. He's thirty one
right now.
Speaker 1 (42:45):
November.
Speaker 3 (42:47):
Take the loss if it's a minimal deal.
Speaker 1 (42:50):
Well, I have some good news for you.
Speaker 3 (42:52):
The no way know how that you said was actually
just for a franchise tag, which that's not happening.
Speaker 1 (42:58):
Oh yeah, Okay, so I have a little bit of
a wiggle room.
Speaker 3 (43:00):
Yeah, you're good for people who don't know that Matt
puts his name on it, and then the no way
know how is like the Mega guarantee.
Speaker 1 (43:07):

Speaker 1 (45:19):
Renelle Blanco's gonna throw for the local nine.
Speaker 2 (45:21):
We'll have it for you today here on seven ninety
Rockets tonight against the Milwaukee Bucks. Houston holding on or
asso that fifth spot in the Western Conference, getting a
couple of breaks.
Speaker 1 (45:31):
The last day or so, the Clippers have lost two straight,
so they've gained a game on them. Tonight.
Speaker 2 (45:35):
It's Milwaukee Tomorrow, it is San Antonio. NFL combin gets
under way tonight in Indianapolis. I'll do it for a
couple of days. And I mentioned I meant to ask
us to you, and I think I asked him, didn't
get an answer. Is there anything from Dimico you want
to hear today? For me, it was about the future
of the wide receiving position wide receiver position with Steffon.
Speaker 1 (45:54):
Did anything else you want to hear from him specifically?
Speaker 3 (45:57):
Not really, And I don't think we're going to get
a whole lot from him. That's his right, that's fine. Yeah,
he's a lot of great players. We're looking to improve
all facets of the team, stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (46:09):
Yeah, he got some great advice from somebody that said,
don't speak about much when you when you ask questions.
Speaker 3 (46:14):
The problems from being a player all those years too. Yeah,
he spent a lot of time in front of microphones.
Speaker 1 (46:19):
Yeah. I wonder how red ass he gets, because I
can tell you this Ross.
Speaker 2 (46:24):
I don't think it takes any imagination to figure out
how pissed off Ema Doka gets when the Rockets don't
play well.
Speaker 3 (46:29):
He does it on the floor. She choose him out
on the floor.
Speaker 2 (46:32):
Yeah, and then he and then he has some well
placed not barbs, but brutal honesty in the postgame VI
even the.
Speaker 1 (46:41):
Eye did you see the recent eye rolls?
Speaker 3 (46:43):
There was a reporter saying, yes, you have such a
young and talented team, and and then he kind of
rolled his eyes.
Speaker 2 (46:52):
I'm telling you he's Dantonicu is my favorite Rockets coach
of all times. We got along so well, and he
was joked with me and we back and forth. I
have a different respect level for Imay because of the
fact that he can command a locker room and granted
it's nuts fifty three, man, it's twelve to fifteen depending
on the night. But he can get away with stuff
(47:15):
that most NBA coaches ross can't get away with.
Speaker 3 (47:18):
Yeah, And I would say as far as media wise,
D'Antoni would let loose every now and then. He really would,
because he especially towards the end.
Speaker 1 (47:26):
He was like, I don't care.
Speaker 3 (47:27):
I'm a maid man in the NBA. It's whatever. But
I mean, Dooka does that every day.
Speaker 1 (47:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (47:34):
And the reality is also is that you know, Mike
D'Antoni never hid the fact that he had to make
sure James Harten was happy.
Speaker 1 (47:41):
That's true. He's like, man, he would tell me this
on multiple ocasions. He said, Man, if James isn't happy,
I'm out. Yeah, that's true.
Speaker 2 (47:49):
And that's kind of sobering, isn't it that you have
to rely on you have to keep one guy happy
in order to keep your job for a guy that
was as accomplished as as Mike D'Antoni was. Because Mike knew.
You get sideways with Camarao Anthony, you're gone. You get
sideways with Kobe Bryant, you're gone.
Speaker 1 (48:09):
That's true.
Speaker 3 (48:10):
Unless they just have your upmost for striking like you
had to respect Phil Jackson no matter what he said.
Speaker 2 (48:14):
Yeah, yeah, but you know, look, I love D'Antoni. Great,
one of the best offensive mines in the history of
the NBA period into story and won a lot of
basketball games, but was unable to get over the hump.
And you know, look e May and his first year
in Boston. I mean, Granty had a great team around him.
But to get the NBA Finals in your first year
to head coach not bad. And again he's got this
Rockets basketball team right now at the fifth spot in
(48:38):
the Western Conference and hopefully you can get that back
up of the number two spot. I think did see
Memphis didn't play last night, but Denver did win Minnesota.
How about this, I don't know if you caught this
or not. Ross Minnesota beat Oklahoma City in overtime in Okay.
See last night the thunder were up twenty five points
in the fourth quarter. Wow, or at least the second
(49:00):
late second half they I think they were outscored forty
one to nineteen in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 3 (49:05):
Hmmm, crazy, Yeah, it's the second half the recap, I see. Yeah,
But yeah, either way, that's that's incredible because especially because
of who it was.
Speaker 1 (49:16):
Yeah, Thunder.
Speaker 3 (49:17):
So the Timberwolves of the rally team. What were they
down fifteen or seventeen to the Rockets? And then in
the fourth quarter.
Speaker 7 (49:22):
I know.
Speaker 1 (49:25):
It's fine, they're really good. But are they unbeatable? Are they?
I should say, are they beatable? Uh?
Speaker 3 (49:32):
Yeah, the Thunder? Not by the Rockets but by somebody?
Speaker 1 (49:36):
Maybe?
Speaker 8 (49:41):
What?
Speaker 1 (49:42):
Nothing? What nothing to you?
Speaker 7 (49:46):
No?
Speaker 1 (49:46):
I mean I wish you would lie. You lie about
other things to me.
Speaker 3 (49:49):
That's true. You're doing great, Matt, say.
Speaker 1 (49:52):
There's lie one and we're only seven minutes into the
second hour of the show.
Speaker 2 (49:58):
Uh gut feelings coming up in a back to Team
Nits here on Sports Talk Center, and if you're new
to the program, a where the hell have you been?
Be Dan glad to have you and see gouple things
where you call and make sports predictions. It's very simple.
Seven one three, two, one two five seven on Dwain's
with us on the Matt Thomas Show.
Speaker 1 (50:13):
Dwayne, good morning to.
Speaker 7 (50:13):
You, Good morning gentlemen. I've got a couple of comments
and a couple of questions for you guys. That Shouday
Andrews is not going to go to the combine, but
the most important things are in that combine are the
medical and the tests that they have to go through
(50:34):
to get, you know, whatever it is they have to get.
But because he doesn't go to the performance and stuff
like that, he can be picked up after the combine
is over.
Speaker 8 (50:47):
But will that hurt his uh his uh when when
they have to choose the draft and stuff. And the
other comment I wanted to make was, at this time,
the Lakers are playing some really good basketball. They actually
got a defense now. And not only am I going
by what the Denver Nuggets when they played them and
(51:11):
stuff like that, but do you think that they can
continue to play this same defense man and man and
then the other one? But do you think they have
a possibility to do good this year in the NBA playoffs?
And I just want to ask you guys that and
(51:32):
God bless y'all and take care.
Speaker 1 (51:34):
Thank you. Two Randall questions are ROUSSI? How about that?
Speaker 3 (51:38):
Yeah, your thoughts on now sdor centers will be at
the combine. He's not going to throw.
Speaker 2 (51:43):
Yeah, if you hide medicals your toast doesn't mean you're
not going to be get drafted. But it doesn't mean
but you are going to be you're gonna have question
marks all over the place.
Speaker 1 (51:56):
So I don't know exactly. Yeah, is he getting measured
and weighed? I don't think so. No, I think he's
not doing anything.
Speaker 3 (52:01):
I think he's just only meeting with teams, right, yep.
And then he's supposed to throw it at the Colorado
pro dain believed.
Speaker 2 (52:07):
Right, Yeah, I mean yeah, no team is going to
take a first round player without looking at medicals.
Speaker 1 (52:15):
Now. I don't know how far that how how far
that goes ross? Again, that's not my world I live in.
Speaker 2 (52:20):
I mean, do you take a six round flyer and
a guy that's had injuries with his knee and you
know one hundred percent sure he's there?
Speaker 8 (52:25):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (52:25):
I don't know. Yeah that I can't give you an
answer on that.
Speaker 2 (52:30):
And as far as the Lakers are concerned, I have
not seen them play yet in person or not in person,
but on TV. Since the Luca trade, I've.
Speaker 1 (52:39):
Been winning a lot.
Speaker 2 (52:40):
They're winning a lot. But lucas a minus defender, so
I can't imagine him playing better.
Speaker 1 (52:43):
Defense with Luca on there out there than with him.
Speaker 3 (52:47):
Maybe he's actually engaged now not he's a Laker, did.
Speaker 1 (52:51):
You but say, the thing is you said that though
I never thought he was disengaged as a mavericke. Oh yeah,
what do you mean? I thought he just bitching moment
officials a lot.
Speaker 3 (52:59):
You didn't see him popcorn and the stands whenever they're
on defense. You mean he went in the stands, sat
down to somebody and said, Hi, how are you let
me have a couple of popcorn bites?
Speaker 1 (53:08):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (53:10):
No, I just think I think from a from an
athleticism standpoint, he can't defend anybody.
Speaker 1 (53:17):
That's that's him. That's that's a different thing. That's big.
But yeah, he's in.
Speaker 3 (53:20):
It's crazy because he's he's quick. I don't even know
how to explain it. But he's not super fast kind
of like honestly, I mean the comparisons early in his
career to James Harden or James Harden didn't have like
super great lateral quickness, but he had great stop and
start so he could get he could get some he
could get open on anybody.
Speaker 2 (53:41):
Yeah, if you're bringing Luca to your basketball team, you're
looking for him to wake up with thirty points, fourteen
rebounds in four or five.
Speaker 3 (53:49):
So so he's already like a seventh on the All
time triple double list. He's twenty five.
Speaker 1 (53:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (53:54):
To me, I'm not even thinking about what he brings
defensively and on. All Lebron has to do is say
give a professional effort. But Lebron at this point in
his career can't give you the defensive work that he
did back early in his career. No again, Dwayne, I
hope you all understand. I need to I need to
look at the Lakers for a game.
Speaker 1 (54:13):
Matter of fact, are they playing the Mavericks tonight or tomorrow?
What's going on?
Speaker 3 (54:17):
I look at the NBA schedule, Uh, Lakers play Mavericks
Lakers tonight, nine o'clock.
Speaker 1 (54:28):
You can catch that. Oh Comebeck, watch second half of
the house. There you go, so Ross, I want.
Speaker 3 (54:36):
You there on you look this is this is going
to shock you, Matt. A lot of national games for
the Lakers. TNT tonight, yeah, NBA TV, tomorrow on Thursday, Yeah, ESPN, Friday, Yeah,
the next Thursday, T and T, next Saturday, ABC, ESPN like,
uh TN T the next Thursday, Friday, NBA TV, the
(54:57):
next Sunday, ABC. Yeah, you'll you have time to catch him.
Speaker 1 (55:00):
Mat, Yeah, So call back to tomorrow Dwayne, or we'll
give you a reminder of how.
Speaker 3 (55:05):
You're gonna give us the Lakers scouting report.
Speaker 2 (55:07):
Yo, we we're gonna put our defensive goggles on and
good after it ross Okay, we're gonna cut up the tape.
By the way, the Rockets Lakers game in April got
moved to TNT.
Speaker 1 (55:17):
Funny how that works.
Speaker 2 (55:19):
And it's funny. It was on a night where they
don't even broadcast NBA games on tn T. It's on
a Monday night during you know, they always put them
on EARLYI the week because of the incitabil a tournament
at ESPN.
Speaker 1 (55:29):
Do that for Luca's debut. Yeah, they went up bumping
the Cougar games, like all.
Speaker 2 (55:34):
Right, bye bye Cooks, you Cougar fans. So ESPN nine
will hype the rest of your game on.
Speaker 1 (55:39):
It's Luca time. You guys are right.
Speaker 3 (55:42):
You were guys with the lead into uh two Cornhole Championships.
Speaker 1 (55:47):
We used to be on the U all the time.
Now that was just like that was a one off
and now it's just the ESPN plus. No, we're on ESPN.
The game is on ESPN. It had like twenty three
million viewers. Now you're making it up. You don't know that.
I do know that.
Speaker 2 (56:00):
Seven one three two one two five seven Ninety's how
you reach a radio program if you want to get
in seven one three, two one two five seven nine zero.
Now we are looking for gut feelings. Do you have
a sports prediction you would like to brag about you
think you're gonna be right about Let us know right
now at seven one three two one two five seven
(56:21):
ninety seven one three two one two five seven ninety.
Gut feelings are up next eleven thirteen on Sports Talk
seven ninety.
Speaker 3 (56:28):
The Matt Tamas Show with Ross continues on Sports Talk
seven ninety.
Speaker 1 (56:35):
Listen up a segment so appeal.
Speaker 6 (56:38):
Listen to Tomas Yo, they got a gut dealing.
Speaker 3 (56:42):
This is their gut feeling on The Matt Thomas Show.
Speaker 1 (56:46):
Seven one three two one two five, seven ninety.
Speaker 2 (56:49):
You have a gut feeling about a sports prediction anything
in the world of football, basketball, baseball, hockey, pro wrestling.
I don't care what it is. We need your gut
feelings and we'll do that right now here. At eleven
eighteen of Sports Talk seven ninety. Before we get to
this week's got Feelings, Ross recaps how we did from.
Speaker 1 (57:07):
One week ago. Oh right, now, yeah, what do you win?
Speaker 7 (57:14):
You no?
Speaker 1 (57:15):
In twelve minutes.
Speaker 3 (57:16):
I'm sorry my computer. I had to restart my computer,
so I wasn't paying attention.
Speaker 1 (57:25):
I'm sorry. It is he needed dire updates. Dire it'
said dire on your screen.
Speaker 3 (57:30):
I believe that downloaded a virus or something.
Speaker 1 (57:34):
It was.
Speaker 3 (57:34):
I needed to restart now, so I did it during
the break, and then I forgot to bring up the light.
Speaker 1 (57:38):
I did see though, you're looking at all? Right, I
got it knowing wesites we were in West Palm Beach.
Shut up, all right, here we go. You got Jelly
Roll doing the halftime. Yep.
Speaker 3 (57:49):
You have Lorne Michael's retiring after the twenty twenty sixth
season of SNL.
Speaker 1 (57:53):
Yep, it's all really timely.
Speaker 10 (57:56):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (57:56):
You got the Cougars covering the eleven and a half
or Arizona State, which they did do that.
Speaker 1 (58:00):
You have a no, no excuse me. They did do that, Yes,
yeah they did. They did.
Speaker 3 (58:03):
They didn't cover I can't say yeah, but they did
cover Arizona State. And then you have Bregman not opting
out after this next season.
Speaker 1 (58:14):
Feel good about all those still on the board.
Speaker 3 (58:16):
Okay, Uh, the only one I wrote down for me
was the Red Sox everyday third basement will be Alex Bregman.
Speaker 2 (58:25):
You know what I didn't do yesterday and I that's
a that's a big fail on me, is I didn't
see where it positioned he played O day. Do we
even let me look at se if I can look
at the Sunday box let me look at the box
score here.
Speaker 3 (58:38):
I think we would have heard about it if he
wasn't playing third. So I'm gonna say third, all right,
I'm looking at the box score and for the Boston
Red Sox when he went three for three, he played
third base. Uh, Connor McGovern. The only thing I wrote
down for him was the Rockets win their next two,
which they did not.
Speaker 1 (58:57):
They lost to the Jazz. Don't bring that up serious, Utah.
Speaker 3 (59:02):
Yeahs unbelievable, except I believe it.
Speaker 1 (59:05):
And those are all got feelings. All right? Who wants
to go first this week? I think you do? All right? Uh,
I'm going to tell you that the Rockets win the
next two games. We a little a little bit of
a some positive, some positive mojo.
Speaker 2 (59:24):
We need to win some games and further supplant our
spot and hopefully getting back to the top four in
the Western Conference. No better way to do that than
taking on a mid Milwaukee team and a teammate's mailed
it in the San Antonio Spurs Rockets.
Speaker 1 (59:35):
Which one does Fred Van Vlieb play it.
Speaker 2 (59:38):
If I was a betting man, would skip tomorrow. That
makes sense if he if he's healthy enough to do that.
Speaker 3 (59:44):
You know, I'm gonna I'm gonna follow you on that
tail it as they say, Okay, Rockets win next two.
Speaker 1 (59:49):
I'm with you on that. Okay, I'm going to tell
you that.
Speaker 2 (59:57):
The rock the uh Nick area is going to make
another significant draft trade before the draft next month.
Speaker 1 (01:00:09):
Okay. He has a very itchy trigger finger, and I
think he likes to make those deals and move up
and down. I would not be surprised if he tries
to move up from where the Texans are right now
late twenties. Get you know, I don't know how far
he moves up. Yeah, I think he moves up. I
could see that.
Speaker 2 (01:00:26):
I think there is too much work to be done
at two particular positions wide receiver and offensive line and
probably ROSSI.
Speaker 3 (01:00:34):
Then wouldn't you stay pat keep your picks, use as
many possible.
Speaker 2 (01:00:37):
Be sneaky and trying to get some work in the
I think they're gonna to work on their on their
linebacking core too.
Speaker 3 (01:00:44):
Uh Okay, I will say this defensive interior taken. Now,
the draft isn't for months, right, defensive taking the interior
taken at some point, maybe even two. Apparently it's supposed
to be a really deep defensive interior draft.
Speaker 2 (01:01:00):
Out with the NFL experts are saying, Okay, present in
your draft study is in my draft study.
Speaker 1 (01:01:05):
Its my tape.
Speaker 3 (01:01:05):
I've been breaking down tape like nobody's business. I'm glad
you you said Texans Texans trade up in first round?
Is that what you're saying, I'm going y trade up
in the first round?
Speaker 1 (01:01:13):
Interesting? Okay, Okay, we appreciate you.
Speaker 3 (01:01:18):
I'm gonna say, unfortunately, I have to agree with you.
I think it's gonna be wide receiver in first round.
Speaker 1 (01:01:24):
Yeah? Did that?
Speaker 2 (01:01:25):
Did I back off of that and I and re
engage in the wide receiver first? I don't know, because
I'm I can't why I was thinking about this. It's
because Casario has spent a lot of draft capital on
the offensive line. I mean, there's it's littered with upward
first day and second day draft picks. Yes, he just
hasn't been alible for guys to find and hit on
one that are being successful long term.
Speaker 1 (01:01:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:01:46):
And I think also it's not like there's a bunch
of guys in the free agent market.
Speaker 1 (01:01:52):
So yeah, okay, Uh, Connor, what do you got this week?
Speaker 8 (01:01:58):
Uh?
Speaker 11 (01:01:59):
You guys were trash talk in MISSOI a little bit.
He came to the studio and was trying to talk
to me, so I didn't have a chance to respond.
I'll say, ma, zoom makes the Sweet sixteen, let's go.
I want to say Final four, but I'll say sweet sixteen.
Speaker 1 (01:02:12):
You know what the key to that success is is
wearing those old school Missouri jerseys, those block ms on them. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:02:19):
Those That's when Derek Cheeves, former Missouri great, was warning
him before the before he became a Houston Rocket. We
did it before Michigan too, So really it's ours.
Speaker 2 (01:02:27):
But you know Ross that Missouri did not win an
SEC game last year. They went over in the conference.
Speaker 1 (01:02:32):
I did not know.
Speaker 11 (01:02:33):
Now they're fourteenth in the country and he beat Alabama.
They put one hundred and ten points up in Alabama.
Speaker 1 (01:02:38):
Oh. He raised his voice like Gordy raised his voice.
One hundred and ten points. Matt, let's go. Let's go
U of H Missouri in a round two matchup. What
do you think? Ooh, that'd be cool. You want you
want to get lost that early? Okay, that's fine.
Speaker 3 (01:02:55):
Well they're not gonna be a nine. They're not going
to be an eight nine. It would have to be
this further down. I wouldn't my chances.
Speaker 1 (01:03:00):
But what is what is Missouri? Where? What is our
friend Joe the Naughty have him? Oh? I'm not sure.
Speaker 11 (01:03:08):
I'd have to look that up, all right, And then
I'll say the Rockets beat Bucks, Spurs and Kings, but
then lose to the thunder Oh god. And then Texans
resigned Stefan Diggs.
Speaker 1 (01:03:22):
I'm still saying Stefon Diggs is not resigned. They have
Missouri as a five. Okay, so that would not be
until what sweet round of thirty two? No, be around
of sixteen?
Speaker 3 (01:03:33):
Rex's as an eleven?
Speaker 1 (01:03:34):
How how was the Hey, let me tell you ross.
Speaker 3 (01:03:38):
If you want to if if the if they make
a if they make the final four tonight the Mottle four,
the last four in you can go to dating.
Speaker 1 (01:03:45):
On my on my dimeka. I'll take your word on that.
Don't run it down.
Speaker 3 (01:03:49):
Anybody false promises the Matt Thomas way.
Speaker 1 (01:03:54):
I mean it's it's it sounds good for the show.
Mm hmmm for you to lie. But do you want
to go to Dayton, Ohio? What about going to Daton, Ohio?
Speaker 3 (01:04:03):
What's going on to see some basketball? If it's the
Longhorns playing?
Speaker 1 (01:04:08):
Can I can?
Speaker 3 (01:04:08):
I use miles and points? I know you are your
America's miles whore, no miles efficient.
Speaker 1 (01:04:15):
Why would you not? Why would you not take advantage
of of a system that allows you to get benefits
of a reward? That's true? Like? How many rewards programs
are you a part of?
Speaker 8 (01:04:26):
Me?
Speaker 1 (01:04:27):
Yes? In your life zero? I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:04:29):
Yeah, many of them, but I just don't. I don't
fly enough to get any.
Speaker 1 (01:04:32):
Rock general Like are you a member of a certain like?
Are you a McDonald's app guy? Yeah? I mean I
use most of them, Yeah, I just don't rack up
stuff on them. Okay, Like I am a uh let's
see a Roguer plus member. Everybody is.
Speaker 2 (01:04:50):
Yes, it's gonna say now that just charges double the amount.
I don't have any fast food apps. I thought I
have Rick Roley as I have. I have a Rick
Rolay app.
Speaker 1 (01:04:59):
Don't you have mar Bucks?
Speaker 2 (01:05:01):
Well I have bar Bucks that's too and then I
have Milton Burry of Dark Breast and Realta.
Speaker 1 (01:05:12):
You're out of control with the rhyming.
Speaker 4 (01:05:16):
You know what?
Speaker 1 (01:05:16):
They want to spend money ross on the show. I
got another one.
Speaker 3 (01:05:19):
Matt Lancelkeller Junior contributes to the twenty twenty five Houston Astros.
Does that mean throws or you mean like he contributes
plus player, he contributes on the field.
Speaker 1 (01:05:30):
Okay, do you want me to reply to that or
just let do whatever you want? I don't care. Let's
go I choose to be optimistic. Let's go on. I
don't know how he's gonna do, but we're not gonna
see him until May.
Speaker 3 (01:05:48):
That's probably accurate. So what he's throwing bullies, he's feeling good.
He's supposed to have live VP later this week.
Speaker 1 (01:05:55):
What if he said he was feeling bad? Would you
have flipped out? Yes? Yeah, I would have flipped out.
Speaker 5 (01:05:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:06:00):
Wo.
Speaker 1 (01:06:00):
He continues to throw. Every fifth day. He continues to throw.
That's good. So because the AD shut down yet you know,
I'm I'm gonna give you a more specific date. He
doesn't throw until May fifteenth, at least in a major
league game. Okay, just call me the calendar man.
Speaker 2 (01:06:21):

Lunchtimer's gut Feelings continue now on the Matt Thomas Show.
Speaker 1 (01:07:56):
We got a nice long segment here. Let's go.
Speaker 2 (01:07:58):
We want your gut feeling. Put your name on some
things if you want to do it as well. Seven
one three.
Speaker 1 (01:08:03):
Two one two five seven ninety seven one three two
one two five seven Nintie Ryan at eleven thirty three
on The Matt Thomas Show with Ross Ryan. What's in
your gut this week, Philly?
Speaker 4 (01:08:16):
Is that Kevin Durant will be a he'still rocket. Okayc
will get bounced out. I'm thinking second round and Bragman
will be a runner up or in in line for
MVP next MB season.
Speaker 1 (01:08:32):
How thank you, Philip, you got a right all that
stuff down ross MVP Seasle. Yeah, he's putting him MVP.
Speaker 2 (01:08:39):
Could the Green Monster reinject the ops of above one
thousand for one?
Speaker 1 (01:08:44):
Alex P. Bregman Hm, hm, you brought it up yesterday
and it's worth repeating. Okay, if he beats three hundred
in April, this he's gonna lose its mind. Be pretty funny, No,
well to be, We'll be pissed off. What are you
talking about? Nobody be laughing about it.
Speaker 3 (01:09:06):
He can't do anything about it, Matt. Just to just
sit back and enjoy life. It's out of your control.
Speaker 1 (01:09:11):
Okay, I got you. You want to make a prediction
about his ops in the first month, I don't.
Speaker 3 (01:09:20):
Say slow start. He always starts slow. Why would it
be any different.
Speaker 1 (01:09:23):
There's there's too much history to say that he's April
numbers aren't great.
Speaker 3 (01:09:28):
Maybe he's finally learned though, because he always comes in
in like incredible shape and it's almost like he's got
to lose the weight to gain some flexibility in his
swing or something.
Speaker 1 (01:09:36):
Maybe he's coming into camp a little dowe. You never know. Yeah,
I mean he's going down that he's on the dungets diet.
Speaker 2 (01:09:41):
Yeah, he's eating really well. Let's go to uh, Seth
over by minute May Park at eleven thirty five. Seth,
what is in your gut?
Speaker 1 (01:09:50):
My friend bud up. Guys, I'm gonna throw two of
them out.
Speaker 10 (01:09:54):
They all first one is gonna be I don't know
if the Nola and Arnatto thing's gonna happen, but I
think one more acquisition gets made with the Astros before
opening day. Who knows, but I'm optimistically that one more
move gets made and then the second. With what we're
seeing so far with the ABS system, mark this out
(01:10:14):
on the Automated Ball Strike system will be in the
Major's next season.
Speaker 1 (01:10:20):
Uh okay, you know what, We'll write those down, Seth.
Thank you very much. Remember if you get these right,
call back and brag. Now. I did see something weird
ross on the ABS the other day.
Speaker 2 (01:10:29):
Okay, there was a game that ended with a strike
call HM that was challenged. Yes, the ABS system overturned
the call. It put the runner at first on a walk.
Then the picture got pulled so and then they had
(01:10:50):
to go through, So it was like an eight minute
sequence between the ABS calling it a ball, the picture
then getting removed, the other picture going back in to
get the final out of the game. Now, that's just semantics.
That's what's gonna happen with games. But it was an
awkward finish to the game. Uh in that spring training
game they were testing it on.
Speaker 3 (01:11:10):
That sounds great. The game should have ended.
Speaker 1 (01:11:12):
On a bad call. No, no, I'm not saying it. No,
I think it's no. This is the right thing.
Speaker 3 (01:11:17):
It's just you're gonna have some clunky endings, and that
was certainly one of them yesterday. Yeah, I don't know
that that makes me happy that a game that would
have ended on a bad call doesn't end. That's beautiful, man.
What if we could get every single call right? You're
gonna die on that vine, a man, what wouldn't that
be crazy?
Speaker 1 (01:11:36):
I know, I know, you're you. You wanted twenty four
to seven.
Speaker 2 (01:11:39):
I know, I know, And I'm tired of fighting you
over it because I in theory you're you're you're right.
Not in theory you are right. But they want the
human elements still in the sport.
Speaker 3 (01:11:51):
The euphemism for for errors, mistakes, human element.
Speaker 2 (01:11:55):
Okay, I'm just I don't mean to be the man news,
but that's just what we're hearing. That's what the streets
are telling us.
Speaker 1 (01:12:03):
But how about this ross, Why don't you keep that
optimistic that if it works so well in the next
two to three years, maybe the little.
Speaker 3 (01:12:08):
Every pitch I think it's eventually happened. I'll say within
the next ten years. Who knows, but you get it.
You got to deal with the umpires union and the players.
And look we were talking about with with not with Lancea,
with Spencer Arraghetty pictures. You might need a slight expansion
of because the zone as it is in the rule
book is kind of tight to where it's called.
Speaker 1 (01:12:28):
It's very tight to where it's called.
Speaker 3 (01:12:30):
Yeah, so a slight expansion, slight percentage, some kind of compromise,
and then fullybous one day at least if I think
it happens before I hit my deathbed. And that's what's
the most important.
Speaker 1 (01:12:42):
Matt.
Speaker 3 (01:12:43):
So you're saying by twenty thirty five, yes, okay, I
mean that we can all hope for things, right, m See,
twenty thirty five will put me in I mean.
Speaker 1 (01:12:52):
I think I'll still be in the business unless they
get kicked out for some reason. That's not what I
was hearing this show. I don't know who whatever you're
in your in your wheedies today, but it's it's uh,
I'm just making jokes, Matt. You know how very personal
Philip and pair land on seven on a Philip puts
(01:13:13):
in your gut.
Speaker 11 (01:13:16):
Oh hey, Matt, Well, I was, I was, well, I
wonder is the ABS zone?
Speaker 6 (01:13:25):
Is that three dimensional?
Speaker 1 (01:13:26):
It's just two dimensional? Three dimensional? It is?
Speaker 3 (01:13:32):
So that reverse call?
Speaker 1 (01:13:34):
How did that work?
Speaker 5 (01:13:35):
So?
Speaker 4 (01:13:35):
What did the ABS call?
Speaker 1 (01:13:38):
Somebody challenged it, called it a right, but challenge?
Speaker 4 (01:13:41):
Was it the umpire's call or the.
Speaker 8 (01:13:44):
The ABS call?
Speaker 1 (01:13:46):
Because you can't challenge the ABS call, you challenge the umpires, right, Okay,
I just wanted to be clear about you know, it's
new to me. I know it from tennis.
Speaker 4 (01:13:56):
Really well that yeah, you can't challenge. I mean, that's
the call.
Speaker 1 (01:13:59):
There's there's nothing but all right, so the umpire made
the call? All right?
Speaker 3 (01:14:06):
Who would we give up for Durant?
Speaker 1 (01:14:11):
Well again, I'm afraid to hear. Well, I don't almost
any of the current players, you know, thank you? Oh yeah,
that had to be current players. I think they want
draft picks to.
Speaker 3 (01:14:22):
Oh, by the way, I lied, it's a two D system.
I don't know why I thought I saw three D recently.
Speaker 1 (01:14:26):
But it's too an extra D is what you're saying? Then?
Speaker 3 (01:14:29):
Yeah, and an accident an extra dimension, Matt, I'm sorry,
it's I don't know why I thought I saw it
in three D.
Speaker 1 (01:14:35):
It's two D. What's the difference between two D and
three D?
Speaker 3 (01:14:39):
Uh? Like it would go through all the way through
the back of the plate. Oh, okay, I think it's
the way I'm seeing it is in the middle of
the plate.
Speaker 1 (01:14:46):
I don't know why. Yeah, it's in the basically the
middle of the plate. Roskin, you guessed the first three
D movie I ever saw my entire life, Jaws. That
is accurate. That is correct? Where do I wait? Nothing
scared a crap out of me? Literally? Really? You really?
You defrecated on yourself?
Speaker 5 (01:15:08):
Yeah I was.
Speaker 1 (01:15:08):
I think I ronated on myself for sure. Hmm.
Speaker 3 (01:15:12):
And then they called you peatpants school the whole rest.
Speaker 1 (01:15:15):
Of the time what they called me?
Speaker 3 (01:15:17):
Okay, everybody remembers that one kid that peed himself, right,
I remember his name. I'm not even gonna say it
out loud. I hope he's doing well.
Speaker 2 (01:15:24):
I'm gonna tell you right now, because I'm an honest person.
I peed myself one time.
Speaker 3 (01:15:28):
In my Oh that's right, you said, weren't you at
the doing the spelling me? Oh my god, that's gotta
be tough.
Speaker 1 (01:15:33):
It was tough. I was embarrassed. The word was bit whack.
I got it wrong, and then I peed myself. And
that's why you hid behind the mascot mask. Matt. Wow,
but I turn out okay, right? That explains a lot. Actually.
Uh And as far if the Rockets really went after Durant,
my guess is they had to give up. You would
have to give up one of their starters. That minimum
(01:15:57):
plus traffics. Jamaris Smith Junior, Come on down.
Speaker 2 (01:16:03):
The reality is durance and early now slowing down. I
mean I am I a little weary of thirty weybe
with thirty seven next year, is that right?
Speaker 1 (01:16:11):
I think? So we'll see him.
Speaker 2 (01:16:14):
They're coming back to Houston one more time before the
end of the year. We go to Phoenix one time,
so two more games of the Suns before the end
of the season.
Speaker 1 (01:16:21):
Just keep that in the back of your hat.
Speaker 2 (01:16:23):
Wrapping things up let's talk to Chris and Jersey Village
on The Matt Thomas Show with Ross.
Speaker 1 (01:16:27):
Chris, what is in your gut this week?
Speaker 5 (01:16:30):
Hey?
Speaker 1 (01:16:30):
This has got feelings right? What was that guy's got
feeling right there? Did he have any feeling? I think
he said. I think he had utter confusion. That's a
segment I'm tomorrow. Oh yeah, yeah. It's easy to get
your days mixed up sometimes.
Speaker 3 (01:16:45):
I've got my guts telling me two things, guys.
Speaker 5 (01:16:48):
First thing is Jordon Albarez will hit more than thirty
five home runs this year.
Speaker 1 (01:16:53):
And secondly, Jose Altuve will win the Gold Glove and
left field. Oh god, okay, you're on crack. I mean,
I'll be honest with you. I hope not. I hope
you should because crack. You know, crack is whack man,
Crack is whack. Is that what Whitney said one time?
Or was it? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:17:10):
Well, well I think it was Whitney. She was saying
she was too classy for crack. I think over thirty
five bombs feels good for jord On.
Speaker 1 (01:17:18):
You know, he's never hit forty. Can you believe that?
Isn't that crazy? You know the thing that troubles me
a little bit by you saying that is that he's
he plays in primarily American league ballparks, and most americanly
ballparks are a can of corn home run. I mean,
if he if he was a Detroit Tiger or Baltimore Oriole,
I'd kind of get that. But now, if he was
(01:17:39):
a right handed hitter, wouldn't you just he could fling
his left.
Speaker 2 (01:17:42):
Forearm mountain hit home runs. But he's a lefty, so
it's a little bit more of a poke to right.
Speaker 1 (01:17:46):
But it's not like it's that what is it three
twenty five to write? In uh a minute? I mean, sorry,
dyk in park.
Speaker 2 (01:17:52):
Yeah, we have the tip jar ready for every one
up the times that one of us says the name
of the ballpark wrong.
Speaker 1 (01:17:59):
Stop myself there at least did, Yeah you did? Can
you not go forty? I'm sorry, it's the it looks
like it's three twenty six to.
Speaker 3 (01:18:10):
Write was a foot when he his home runs right,
like hits the upper decker up their upper deck. Yeah,
his ops career is nine to seventy three. That's insane.
It's better than Bagwell, Berkman, et cetera.
Speaker 2 (01:18:23):
You want to make Jordan Alvarez a uh top five
MVP Cannate, We're like, do that the wrap.
Speaker 1 (01:18:30):
Up the show?
Speaker 3 (01:18:31):
He finished ninth last year, yeah, third and twenty twenty two.
But he doesn't play the field, so that hurts him.
Speaker 7 (01:18:39):
It does.
Speaker 3 (01:18:41):
I will not put him as an MVP. Okay, who
would be the favorite right now?
Speaker 1 (01:18:46):
Judge? Probably American League?
Speaker 2 (01:18:48):
Uh yeah, and then shoheo Tani with a back to
back in the National League. We shuld do a gut
feeling soon on what wan So was gonna do?
Speaker 1 (01:18:56):
Is a met think that'd be fun? Yeah? Oh, Bobby
win Yeah, wit can a small market guy one MVP?
Absolutely yeah, especially the Royals make the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (01:19:07):
I would say, well, it looks like betting ons he's third.
It's Judge witt Alvarez. No, actually, depending on the book,
Gunner Henderson, so he's top four.
Speaker 2 (01:19:18):
