Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ten oh two in h Town.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Good morning, everyone, and welcome to a Monday edition of
The Matt Thomas Show with Ross Or. Pretty soon will
be the Ross Rilla Reale Show with this other scrub
guys on television.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
Anyways, time you got your trim bearded.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Uh, yeah, I did put in a ponytail straight razor.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Of course the suit was a little small, but that's
a different and different I'm just kidding.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
I just know i' fit perfectly. Did it didn't a snug?

Speaker 4 (00:29):
Huh huh?

Speaker 1 (00:30):
No, I was happy.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Yeah, you were on For those who don't know, you
were on Channel two last night, the Sports Sunday program. Yeah,
that was a good time. To shout out to Randy
mcklvoy for having me out. Yeah, and again, the key
to going on that show is to make sure you
go during the non football season, because one, if you're
in football season and you have to wait for the
end of the NFL Sunday night game then the.

Speaker 5 (00:51):
News, you're just wasting your time. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
So this you were in the sweet spot of the
Sports Sunday schedule. It was a good time. Happy to
be out there. Yeah, and you I into the board
and started looking that it was a bunch of numbers
and stuff. He's going on talking about Jalen Green, im
and Thompson rocket stuff. It was good, yeah, good, good good.
So you did well for yourself. I'm proud of you.

(01:13):
Thank you, Matt.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
We are here today until two o'clock.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Well we have got I mean, we had a few
things to get to, but we really have some things
to get to. When it comes to I would say
not her shadowing news, but it's getting closer. There is
one of the three best players in the NBA wants
to go play maybe somewhere else, So.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
We'll get into that a little bit. That is the
show progresses.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
I know we are not a sizzling hot non NBA
town and doesn't involve our Rockets, but there is a.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
What it's not Bucks Talk seven ideo over here.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
No it's not, and we've tried and that's the research
says stop so but there could be a rockets angle
to it, And obviously there's a lot of folks around
the NBA that are attaching the Rockets to the.

Speaker 5 (02:01):
News of the day, which we'll get to in just
a couple of minutes.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
We had the astros with a uber bizarre weekend crushed
on Friday, Yes, got crushed on Saturday, and then that
same back though, well, okay, the damage was done. The
damage was done. But it was nice to see him
see some fight from the lads. The lads, the lads.

(02:24):
I'm sorry, that's a European soccer term. I was gonna say,
what do we are we doing this week? In your
And then Sunday they a couple of.

Speaker 5 (02:31):
Hits for the Reds.

Speaker 6 (02:32):
That was it double They scored ten in the first
and then don't score any all on Sunday.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
As they say, that's that's baseball, that's the crazy game
of baseball. So we got that to get to we
have to tell the truth today at eleven thirty we excited,
believe it or not. I'm gonna have to go with
Derek Carr retiring out of nowhere. Huh.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
I thought it was some wrestling. Somebody tagged me in
a tweet some wrestling not. I mean, I'm sure his
family it was.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
But to me, family cares.

Speaker 5 (03:06):
Let me, I'm gonna send this tape. What was his name?

Speaker 2 (03:09):
I don't even know. Yeah, tongeraft and Marauder point being
is this no? I mean, let's just be brutally honest.
All deaths are not created equal. That's true, Matt. Some
are more impactful than others. If I have my relatives
that live in Dallas passed away, it's gonna be hurtful
to me. Okay, you're gonna feel bad, but but you're
gonna go with your day. No, I'm gonna feel for you.

Speaker 4 (03:30):
You're not.

Speaker 5 (03:30):
It's called empathy.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
I know.

Speaker 5 (03:32):
I'm gonna give you home just checking. No, I want you.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
I want you know, Matt.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
I'm gonna be available twenty four to seven whatever you need.
If all deaths, let me just put it this way,
if all deaths are creat equal, you're never gonna be
happy the rest of your life. That's true. That's anything
in this world, Matt. We choose what to plug into.
How many thing different things to plug into. It's like
yesterday on Facebook, I have the best wife. I have

(03:59):
the best mother.

Speaker 5 (04:00):
I don't think you did.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Yeah, you're all wrong. My mom's the best.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
I mean yesterday, my timeline was five hundred. This is
the greatest mother of them all. This is the greatest wife.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
Of them all.

Speaker 5 (04:14):
I am.

Speaker 6 (04:15):
I am the luckiest man on earth. You know, to
have evidence of that, you might think it, but I
got news for you. I got the greatest mother. I've
got the greatest wife, So the rest of you can
suck it. I mean, if there was an unlike button
on Facebook, got.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
Unlike it because you're wrong. You don't go on Facebook
to tell half truth.

Speaker 5 (04:36):
You might think it's.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
The greatest woman of all time. You are so weird.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Hell, you're upset that people are calling their wives and
mothers the best of all time.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
That's fine, tell them their face. Don't run the Facebook
because I ain't donating it.

Speaker 5 (04:49):
Sorry, I should go on ever, and.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
It's like one of one, Matt, you are one one.
Just put other with all idiots.

Speaker 5 (04:56):
Look at these idiots are the best.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
You probably would call him worse if we're off air.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
Here's with all due respect, I would have to disagree
and just live at that. Yeah, you should do that. Actually,
you know what, I'm gonna post a picture of me
and my mom. I'm gonna say you're all your moms
are trash. My mom is number one. I I'm gonno
the day after I've looked at all your photos yesterday
and I've come to the consensus.

Speaker 5 (05:21):
I'm right.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
My wife is the best. My mother is the best.
Sorry y'all, y'all can fight for second boom, Okay.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Anything goes my day.

Speaker 5 (05:33):
I'm just saying.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
I got father's side. This is one of your takes.
You don't believe for uh, you don't know that. Coming
up at eleven thirty, I can tell you Lauren Jahida
or whatever her name is, that she's one of whatever,
she's one of my favors.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
And that's to tell that name.

Speaker 5 (05:50):
Telling the truth.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Okay, we have MLB Network on here and then Matt
admires Lauren every morning and her analysis and Rofly i'd
rather have.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
I don't respect roll the rest of them.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
I do.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
That's fine, all right? Uh it is ten oh eight again.
I'm right about the Facebook thing.

Speaker 5 (06:07):
No you're not.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
Why can't people say their mothers are great on Facebook?

Speaker 2 (06:11):
Tell them their face? Why don't they do both? Because
I don't, because I don't believe you. No one goes
no one's on Facebook girls and goes, oh that don
says that his mom's the best.

Speaker 5 (06:23):
I guess she is.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
I lost at least. It's it's not really for you,
it's more for them.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
So I should call my mom and say, I gotta
tell you something my friend Don says his mom's the
best of mom. You're really going to be only about
second or third? Yeah, that's social media. Social media is
about talking about your your regular life.

Speaker 5 (06:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
Like, I don't say I have the greatest daughter of
all time with the greatest sons. I don't do that.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
I brag about them, but I don't. I don't sit
there and say they're the greatest of all time. This
is to me they are, but not everybody else I have.
I allow you to have your own opinion. I am
flummox that you are upset about that. Says it's just good.
Every year at this time. It makes me laugh. I go,
my mom is the Yeah, I'm gonna you know what,
I'm posting every social media I got.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
I'm gonna find a picture of me and my mom.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
Are you really? Yeah, and you're gonna say hers the
best and say yeah, and now I'm gonna tag you
in it. Here's the problem. If I say I don't
know if she's the best, No, she's really good, to
people gonna think you're serious, People think you're seriously what
are you talking about? No, Happy Mother's Day to all
everybody out there, all the best moms all the best moms.

(07:27):
We spent it with the volleyball court. We wouldn't be
here without them, literally, and.

Speaker 5 (07:31):
Then we wouldn't got to take out pizza.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
That's how, That's how how would the volleyball weekend go?

Speaker 5 (07:35):
It was fine.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
It was fine. It wasn't great, but it was fine.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
I thought you gotta I thought you got to commit
in your house. We do have a commit we hang
them up. No, I don't disagree. It's trying to get
on ice, man. Can I have We don't want any
torn a c ls, pulled hammies. Can I a little downtime,
like take a tournament off? That's what I'm saying. Can
we do the what are they calling the NBA? Uh
load manage management on my daughter? I mean she's already got.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
The scholar what I'm saying, Yeah, she's going to be
a senior.

Speaker 5 (08:00):
She is a junior.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
Store Now I'm saying next year, yeah, next year, okay, yeah,
take take half the time off, stay healthy, rest up
those hamis.

Speaker 5 (08:10):
Yeah. I don't disagree with you at all. I'm in
saving a little money.

Speaker 6 (08:15):
Bob.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
You'd have liked the.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
Event, you know why, you know what a special, extra
special thank you to all the volleyball moms out there,
especially the ones that are divorced.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
Happy volleyball Mother's Day to all of you.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
Or we're taking a break moms, especially yes, especially the
the divorced ones dreaming a lot of sutters home wine.
When you bring box wine to the hotel, you know
they were ready to party.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
Anyway. All right, where are we going for this?

Speaker 5 (08:49):
No, it's anything.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
It's totally my fault. Take some of the boys.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
We could have done some text and schedule release predictions,
but we're not doing that. We'll set that for Actually,
we'll have a wedd I don't act like this when
you're not here. We're like the kids that they have
to separate us in class because if they put us
together in a project, we're gonna get.

Speaker 5 (09:07):
Nothing like that.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
You would watch it on the show. It's very serious.
We just talk sports like dance. Here, we're talking sports
and you get here and then we just cut up
like we're to the two bad kids at the back
of the class.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
I mean, we're not. We're not breaking down the economy here,
you know, we're not.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
We got that serious right when not get into the
international troubles that are our world and World War three
coming up?

Speaker 1 (09:29):
All right?

Speaker 7 (09:29):
Uh?

Speaker 5 (09:30):
Would you didn't get.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
To the astros Obviously, a lot of the conversations about that,
a lot of the conversation about Gianni's Attenthakumpo, a story
that came down about two hours ago. And if you've
not heard, he is open to playing somewhere else besides Milwaukee. Now,
he has not flat out said I must be traded.
He's just saying he is quote unquote this is from
Sean Sharani BSPN that he's open minded to it. We

(09:53):
do have the NBA Draft lottery today where Kim Olisha
Wan will represent the Houston Rockets.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
Let's go very excited about that.

Speaker 5 (09:59):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
We had an interesting weekend in the NBA. We had
a really unfortunate situation involving Lance mcculors on the mound
and perhaps more importantly, off the mound. I don't think
there's a whole lot to be said, except that I've
told y'all and I've said this before, and it's when
I when I speak of this in generalities, I don't

(10:20):
mean to do so, but Ross and I always seem
to gather who is the most destructive of Twitter out there?

Speaker 1 (10:28):
And we kind of do a peggan order.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Yes, it's been asked for, of Twitter in it for
a long time, and they have been on that top
spot forever. If you've not heard, and I guess you haven't,
it's maybe even busy doing the mother's as stuff. But
he got a lot of death threats, harassment, terrible things
said about him and his family after Saturday's performance. And
that's probably one, two, three people the police are handling

(10:50):
MLB's investigating it. I'm not gonna I'm not gonna paint
with a broad brush and say that three people would
necessarily describe a fan base, but they know who they are.
They'll be caught, they'll be I don't know what if
it's gonna be. I guess you could be arrested for
serias threats, threats. Yeah, but that doesn't describe who the
fan base is.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
But buy and large again, astros.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
Twitter can do some really wacky things like fire Joe
a spot after five games, or say that Josh Hater's
a bum, or say that uh uh, Christian Walker is
another first base reach out. I mean, you're just the
worst group and it's gonna take a while for somebody
to unseat you and Unfortunately this gets attached to social media.

(11:29):
But this is gonna be life itself. I mean you
could have book authors that happen this too. This could
be the famous actor. I mean, we've what happens. Yes,
social media just creates a very small, anonymous segment of
the population that gets UH an opportunity to think that
they can use their their their keyboard to say things
that they would never say or do in front of
the person.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
They're in front of their face. So it's the anonymity exactly.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
Yeah, all right, seven one three two one two five,
seven ninety. If you want to get in seven one
three two one two five seven ninety, we have to
tell the truth at eleven thirty, the news at noon,
believe it or not. Today, are we gonna go NBA
Draft lottery or do you want to go with Derek
Carr retiring from the Saints you won, I don't.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
We got time.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
We got to we do both. We're with you through
Derek Carr at the NBA lottery. I don't think that's
the case. Fourteen on Sports Talk seven ninety ten twenty
on Sports Talk seven ninety It is a Monday edition
of the show, And I know it's kind of hard
to get going in terms of waking up and getting
to work. Or today's drive wasn't terrible. I got here
in less than an hour, so I was kind of
pleased about that. I walked in here, I thought it

(12:29):
was a holiday.

Speaker 5 (12:31):
What's today?

Speaker 1 (12:32):
So you went to the salespit? How many people were
back there?

Speaker 2 (12:36):
Seven one three, two two, five seven ninety. I just
pulled the Matt Thomas seven one three to two too,
just asking five seven ninety is the phone number everybody's
out on calls. Working hard baby, trying to sell the
Matt Thomas show with a coworkers. We heard this show.
You're doing all right. I don't want to hear a
word out of you.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
I didn't say anything.

Speaker 8 (12:53):
Yeah, have you rome.

Speaker 5 (12:58):
Out, dude?

Speaker 1 (12:59):
I have enough live in Horsement's on the show? Oh
my gosh, can I do five lives?

Speaker 2 (13:03):
And in one break and just plum myself talking endlessly?

Speaker 1 (13:06):
You were in rare for beforeim in the first two
segments of this show.

Speaker 5 (13:09):
Matt. That's fine.

Speaker 4 (13:10):
I know.

Speaker 3 (13:11):
I know.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
If you give it, he must take it, alright.

Speaker 5 (13:17):
That feels like a clip.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
That does not feel like I feel like we gave
you a bunch of clip stuff late on Friday. I
think I think we're already set for the like four,
sit her down back there, Calm down, let's go. He's
working hard. Appreciate you, Jonathan.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
You're still on a probationary basis.

Speaker 5 (13:35):
Seven one three. How long you know this? Two months?

Speaker 2 (13:37):
That's probably, but that's pretty much pretty much close. With
that resume builder out there, Hey, let's go, got it
on the resume doing. Hey, put me down for recommendation.
You're doing a great job. Yeah, I appreciate that you
made your two. You can go to a show and
like Lubbock together, call it raider talk. I like that
raider rash talk. I knew you were going to say that.

Speaker 5 (13:56):
I just knew it.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
Uh seven one three five seven zero if you want
to jump into the conversation, seven one three two one
two five seven out eies. So I was volleyballing with
my daughter and doing that. I did not Did you
work Saturday? Or you were on the on decker? Who
did Saturday? I did Friday? Could you imagine say if
you would, and let me ask you for those of

(14:18):
you who went on Saturday, and they look the crowds
have been fantastic.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
There's a great basic packed on Friday. I can't speak
to the other days.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
I'm going tonight. I don't know if it's gonna be packed.
For Kansas City on a Monday is a city on
a Monday, probably night. But could you imagine you're going
to get your hot dogs or your hot are your
burgers or your chicken strips? And look, you try to
get there early, but maybe you've got volleyball or maybe
you uh traffic, there's construction around the between the B

(14:47):
and S lot right now.

Speaker 5 (14:48):
It's a mess. Yeah, it's a mess. And you got
to your seat.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
I don't know first pitch of six ten, you got
to your seat at say six fifteen. I mean stuff
happened nine in game, You're there for two and a
half hours. And by the time you settle down and
you've gotten that picked up that fifteen dollar beer and
that nine dollars nachos and that six dollar dog, and
you yeah, about sixty seventy dollars uh in the in
the check book already and your squad is down ten nothing.

(15:17):
I was thinking of the exact same thing, because I
almost went to the game. Somebody I knew offered me
tickets and I was going to go, yeah, well.

Speaker 5 (15:24):
My mom with you.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
My mom tost three tickets. Yeah, she goes to a
lot of games. Ten nothing. Your starter gave you one
third of an inning.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
That of course was Lance, And I know yesterday Renewe
Blanco saved the team's bacon by going as deep as
he did in the game, and.

Speaker 5 (15:44):
Thank you he did.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
That was I mean, you talk about a necessary man,
much needed, much needed performance from your astro starter. But
this rotation, which is six deep because of the nine
off days, I think there's seven a stretch of seventeen
consecutive games. You can't have very many of those, and

(16:06):
it feels like to me, unfortunately with Lance two times
through the rotation, I mean, he's not the only one.
It's you got other guys too. I mean you've had
blue Ball and other guys getting there. Who's the other one?
Uh Dreks the last name Gusto? Yeah, yeay, Well, I
mean it's not a common it's not Smith, No, it's
not You're You're really gonna have to be very careful

(16:29):
about the bullpen. And then obviously the bullpen got beat
up pretty bad on Saturday. Thankfully did not get beat
up yesterday, so you get a huge break on that.

Speaker 5 (16:37):
But man, just sitting down and ten nothing.

Speaker 1 (16:41):
What do you do do you do? You go, well,
we wasted our time. Do you go with, Hey, it's
a nine and in game you got nine swings at it,
twenty seven outs. We can make this up.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
And the Astros, to their credit, did make it a
ball game a little bit. Yeah, they had six and
the third, so at least you're feeling like, Okay, this
isn't a.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
Complete right disaster.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
Down four runs twelve fun, but yeah, twelve to seven
feels better than ten to zero after one third, after
one half a minuting.

Speaker 1 (17:07):
It absolutely does. So that was good. At least they
gave you. It was like a sliver of hope.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
It's like, yeah, they're still gonna lose this one, but
at least there was a sliver of hope something to
cheer about. The comp on that is being down twenty
one five minutes into a football game, yeah, or being
down in a basketball game twenty two twenty two points.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
Because that's the thing ten to nothing is, it's over based.

Speaker 5 (17:28):
I just checked. I didn't know they got down in
the first inning. Oh my god.

Speaker 1 (17:31):
Yeah, yes, Jonathan, where have you been, johnthan Well, I
knew they.

Speaker 5 (17:35):
Were losing that, I just didn't. I thought you guys
were for the pit, but I didn't realize it was
that bad. We don't do things for the bit. We
speak of accuracies. It was ten zero after one half inning.
We would make these things up. Yeah, this is the thing. Yeah,
ten zero the win probably already and.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
Before the Astros have come to bat is ninety eight
point six. So that's like feels like a thirty five
did nothing football game.

Speaker 1 (18:01):
Yeah, oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:01):
I would think, of of all the heavy deficits, to
be down ten nothing would have to be the worst
of all the major sports, right, Yeah, because look, we've
seen teams in NBA down twenty in the first half
and they come back in two. Thirty is rare, and
football twenty one nothing is hard thirty. I mean we've
seen Buffalo obviously came back from thirty thirty. Come on, man,

(18:24):
come on man. But you spend the money, the parking,
the tickets cheap, you get the gear on, and you
sit down and you're down ten zero. Yeah, thirty two
thousand attendants? What goes more of that? Froudust, This is
prior to the reports of the terrible threats on Twitter. Yes,

(18:47):
there were people booing. What's your take on booing a
guy that gets ten I wouldn't have.

Speaker 5 (18:55):
I didn't like it.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
I didn't like it because I like lance, so but
I also will say it's not an expected and I
also say this, it's your right. It's your right if
you pay, and if you pay and it's ten to
nothing and you want to boo, like you said, you've
taken one bite of your chicken tender and it's nothing,
you can be upset.

Speaker 1 (19:10):
You can be upset. I don't want foul language.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
I don't want derogatory terms, and threats is certainly over
the line, obviously. Yeah, that goes really without saying. But
if you get chilled, you get shelled. The only reason
why I would temper more towards your side of it
is because it is a guy that's making just his
second start. He has been hurt much of his major

(19:35):
league career. It takes a lot of work to get
back to where he was, and has also been a
guy that has had a truck record when he was
healthy of helping this team do really, really amazing things,
and no one in the building felt worse than him,
So to me to make that worse by booing him,
I wouldn't have done it, but I was also gonna
say it's your right, right. I'm not a typical booer

(19:56):
except for Dreamond Green. But I'm calling the game so
that it's hard me to boot.

Speaker 1 (20:02):
And another.

Speaker 2 (20:05):
Wexern Clanton a off, Mike, Matt, what are you doing
over there? Nothing? Looking at some stats, Draymond. You suck
at the line for two more and one more shot?
Come it up here?

Speaker 1 (20:16):
It is, No, that'd be great. So hey, you go viral.
You've been looking to go viral?

Speaker 2 (20:22):
I mean we're looking at Yeah, I'm not looking to
go viral that direction, that's for sure. By the way,
if you speaking at Draymond, have you seen the number
of Draymond Green. AI created photos of what Draymond Green
would be if he was not in a Golden State Warrior. No,
there's been one. There's one of them in a Popeyes shirt.
There's one with him in a Walmart a Greener shirt.

Speaker 1 (20:42):
Oh come on, no, that's stop.

Speaker 5 (20:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (20:46):
So he might not be a Hall of Famer honestly,
Oh no, no, No, he's going to the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 5 (20:50):
No, I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (20:50):
I'm saying if he were in another organization.

Speaker 2 (20:52):
Yea, because he fit he fit the skill sets of
of Clay and Steph like a glove.

Speaker 1 (20:57):
Yeah, I get you.

Speaker 2 (21:00):
So back to my point, oh uh so, Yeah, I
would not myself boo him. I can't crush, but I
would so on the under the category of I wouldn't do it,
but I understand why some did. Does that make any sense?
I will still say it's bad and you shouldn't have
done it. Yeah, I still I would lean that direction
as well. Because again, if if Lance was a cocky guy,

(21:21):
bad dude had never done anything, taking them the team
for a financial ride created some disharmony because of tough
contrent negotiations, then there's an expectation. But this is the
second start in three years. I just I'm gonna give
him a little bit more slack. I think you have
to give the guy credit for because he's you know,

(21:42):
let me tell you here's here's the real gist of
its funds. He could have just said, look, I've had
two three major arm elbow situate forearm situations. I can
call it a career. He probably made fifty million plus
dollars in his career, not more so. He wanted to
come back and do it ten thirty Sports Talk seven
and he would take more of your phone calls coming
up with Bob and Brian and the rest of you
join us, please seven one three two one two five

(22:03):
seven ninety. If you're at the game on Saturday, how
did you handle Saturday? That's an easy question. How did
you handle Saturday? Here on Sports Talk seven ninety. Well,
thank you for being a part of this radio show today.
We want you here till two o'clock. You may have
appointments or calls to make, but come on back. We're
gonna be here every single day ten o'clock until two,
and we thank you very much for spending part of
your day with us here on Sports Talk seven ninety.

(22:25):
Seven one three two one two five seven ninety is
how you reach the show. If you want to jump
in the conversation, that's seven one three two one two
five seven ninety. Bob is in Texas City. Bob, you're
at the game on Saturday. Tell us about your night.

Speaker 3 (22:38):
It can't get any better. Let me just preface this.
Me and my buddy, we're both seventy years old. We're
big sports fam we're going to go in the games.
For years, wives usually weren't interested until they met, uh,
Jeremy Payne you up at the galleria, like a year
and a half ago. Now they're experts. So we end
up the game Saturday after we take their picture, the

(23:00):
Hall of Fame wall, the gap, all the stuff hitded
our seats, get all the can't get all the popcorn
and everything ready, game starts. They can't wait because the
color is just cute. They love him three batters in.
Don't want him go to the farm system. Want to
know how he ever got pulled up? Want to know
why we don't bring in Hannard Brown because he had

(23:21):
a couple of innings reft he could have pitched nine
last night. I had answered those kinds of questions for ten, well,
for nine innings, because these gals adn't leave until the
last pitch of the last inning. And so I just
I can't imagine anybody enjoying the game more than me
and Danny did.

Speaker 2 (23:36):
All right, So Bob, first of all, I empathize with you, okay,
And second, I'm gonna ask you a lot of questioning
that is not meant to be derogatory.

Speaker 1 (23:45):
Towards your wife. So please stay with me on this. Okay,
are you ready?

Speaker 3 (23:48):
Okay, yes, sir.

Speaker 1 (23:50):
So your wife.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
Asked you why Hunter Brown could not replace Lance mccullors
during the game.

Speaker 5 (23:58):
Is that accurate? Yes or no?

Speaker 3 (24:00):
Yes, in the first inning because he did so good
last night that you ought to come in and do
it again today.

Speaker 1 (24:08):
I mean, it makes sense.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
I mean, did you want to hit her? Did you
want to hit her gently?

Speaker 5 (24:13):
I mean like no, no.

Speaker 3 (24:15):
By then, I'm trying to roll up my popcorn thing
sharp enough to cut my throat because I knew that
I never had another eight and a half innings question.

Speaker 1 (24:24):
Okay, so that might be.

Speaker 2 (24:26):
And again, Bob, you probably have a beautiful wife and
marrying a long time and for that I congratuate.

Speaker 5 (24:29):
But that's what.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
But that's really that's about as.

Speaker 2 (24:33):
I mean, I don't know if the if the term
of elementary baseball analysis could be put into play, But
that's Did it get any worse than that? Or is
that the was that the crescendo? Was that the number
one thing that you'd shut your head at.

Speaker 3 (24:44):
No, I mean, I mean there's so many of them.
I tell people, tell real life, it's better than stuff
you can make up. There were there were questions. I
hope they take him. This is what she did with Lance.
They wanted him just taking taking back the farm system.
I can't believe they let him pitch. Okay, got all
all the stuff that goes on. Then we get in
the car. We had no idea that the death threat
thing came through. Yeah, and then it was, oh my gosh,

(25:07):
I can't believe he was out there trying so hard
and they ought to give that man. You know, all
his props were trying. He wasn't trying to throw balls
and give up home month. And for the whole time
he was in the game, she hated me, and then
if we tried to talk good about him, we got hammered.
Then then on the way home, it's just one game.
They're trying to save innings and that doesn't matter. You know,

(25:29):
if they would have brought somebody in that could have
you know, you know, Hunter Brown could have got him out. Well,
that's not the way it works. Well, I'm wrong. I mean,
I've been married that long to know that I'm wrong
about other things. But I never realized I sold wrong
about sports til she met Jeremy Payna. So that's my
baseball life from here on that.

Speaker 2 (25:49):
Let me tell you, Bob, this is the caller of
the months and we're only into May, and so you're.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
Off to a fantastic start. Congratulations because I appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (25:58):
But I don't know what to tell you.

Speaker 1 (25:59):
Guys.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
All I do is section one. We're in section one thirteen.
If you ever want to learn.

Speaker 7 (26:04):
Baseball on the road, thirty thirteen fourteen.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
Let me tell you some I'm going to avoid section
one thirteen and one twelve and one fourteen just to
make sure I don't get to hear her talk baseball,
even from a section over.

Speaker 3 (26:15):
Okay, now here's the kicker. Section one twelve is usually
the visitors section. So we had all the Cincinnati fans
there and she was mad at damn. So you know
how well, it was just a joyful night. I can't
wait till we go back.

Speaker 1 (26:29):
Thank you, Thank you, Bob. I have one recommendation for you.

Speaker 9 (26:34):
Just uh.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
Make it a bros night, right. I know you're good
to take my wife, please material on this show today.

Speaker 2 (26:47):
Let me tell it. Let me tell you about Bob.
After Mother's Day, let me tell you about Bob. And
I never met Bob Bob loves his wife, Bob, he
adores her. He adores her, and it's cool that a
couple of guys in their seventies are still double dating
and going to baseball games. But there was a conversation
between Bob and his buddy that were like, why we

(27:07):
bringing these bitches with us? He didn't say bitches per se,
but he was. They were thinking it. Yeah, he might
have said broads.

Speaker 5 (27:15):
Ladies.

Speaker 2 (27:16):
No, it was there wasn't ladies brought up with the conversation.
They were now it was much more of a derogatory phrasing.

Speaker 1 (27:22):
Skeezers. No, I called him skeezers. I think his bitches
was bad as bad as a gout. He said, what
are these boppers doing up in here?

Speaker 5 (27:29):
I mean.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
It would be like, oh god, I don't even know
what the reversal that would be like, would be like
trying to die. You know, watch them watch one of
their TV shows on Bravo or something, having to disect
what's going on with their relationships. You know, Like I
will sit in with my wife sometimes and she's watching
these real Housewives of said city and I'm like, that
makes no sense. Why is why doesn't she just do
this and she's like, I don't need your commentary.

Speaker 5 (27:55):
I know this show.

Speaker 1 (27:56):
You don't know it.

Speaker 2 (28:01):
Oh, man, that was pretty funny stuff. Poor Big Bob,
Poor Bob. That's in prayers, that's and prayers out to Bob.
Shout out to Bob. You know we had to do
one to bring Hunter Brown, And I mean it makes
logical sense. We should call We should have been married
with children night. Remember I remember how much Al hated Peg. Yes,
we should have felt like, we know the what do
they call that?

Speaker 5 (28:20):
The club?

Speaker 2 (28:20):
They had no ma'am No, It's like they're in no. Man,
we should have a no maam night No girls come
to our game. Dude's night out, bros night out. Yeah,
all right, let's talk to I think why is Bob
trying to call back?

Speaker 1 (28:36):
I think is Bob in trouble?

Speaker 2 (28:37):
Yeah, Bob's are probably already in hot water, despite his
wife calling under a different phone number.

Speaker 1 (28:41):
Hi, Brian, you're on seven ninety. How was the game
on Saturday?

Speaker 9 (28:45):
Well, my experience clearly wasn't as bad as Bob, So
now I feel a little bit better about it.

Speaker 1 (28:49):
All.

Speaker 4 (28:50):
Hi.

Speaker 9 (28:52):
We even in the afternoon and we're like, oh, let's
see what my son who play high school baseball. So
at least I had some decent conversation during the game.
But we got Crawford Bob seats, They're like, oh perfect,
we sit down literally burger beer. Ten runs and the
only thing that kept us there because we're in a
copper boxes. We're like, well, at least we might get
a home run this way. That's only them we got

(29:12):
saving us. But we had two worse than Bob. I
guess in a way, two guys around us who are
clearly the experts of baseball, who were rattling off, rattling
off the batting averages from the scoreboard and telling their
kids and this is what a era is.

Speaker 4 (29:30):
It was pretty brutal, but.

Speaker 9 (29:32):
After Bob's saying, I feel like I'm a pretty lucky guy.
So I thanks the Bos for the Monday morning Bob.

Speaker 2 (29:38):
I don't know if Bob, you could, if anybody's gonna
be able to top your phone call, because going to the
Hunter Brown pitch weall last night bringing back out there
is that's really gonna be hard to meet.

Speaker 5 (29:47):
Now, I'm me ask you this, Brian.

Speaker 2 (29:49):
I don't mean to pocket watch you here, but how
much money did you spend on Saturday night between your
group of people that you were with.

Speaker 9 (29:56):
Well, fifty dollars in just me and my sons, about
fifty dollars in with a gold medal light in a
in a cheeburger and ten nothing. Well that just makes
you drink a little bit more. So it was a
it was a solid three hundred.

Speaker 1 (30:12):
Oh god, be poor man. And next day, you know what,
they should issue refunds.

Speaker 2 (30:18):
They should issue refunds if it's ten to nothing after
one third of an inning or what one inning?

Speaker 9 (30:24):
There was a group behind us that walked in, uh
like I don't know, third inning right when we were
scoring those six runs, and they're all excited. I'm like,
did you see the rest of the store, Like, oh god.
So anyway, the six runs in that third inning, I
think that didn't make it like, okay, we may have
a shot here. So and it was the red.

Speaker 5 (30:40):
So it was the red.

Speaker 1 (30:42):
Thank you Brian for the phone call. You know, it's funny.

Speaker 2 (30:44):
You know when you hit the foul pole, you get
the free chicken or something. Somebody strikes out. I mean,
it's a different contest. Yeah, so Bob called back. Just
let me tell you guys that and you said I
said to be word on here.

Speaker 5 (30:56):
Yeah you can't. I don't say it a lot, all right,
But he said that was the mostly his word out
of the six. Oh so he mis it. Yeah, he
was calling his wife and the girl bitch. That was
the most thing. Yeah, yeah, I.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
Mean Bob's Bob's and warm blooded man. He understands these things.
Thank you very much for that. So back to my point.
If you if you get if your team gets your
ass kicked early, yeah, you should get some sort of
retention bonus, I agree you, or at least half off
on a beer or a burger, some kind of coupon.
You know how to get five free wings from a
place that shall not be named a base?

Speaker 1 (31:29):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (31:29):
Yeah, how about if you're down ten zero you get
a free chicken sandwich or something, or or the longer.

Speaker 1 (31:35):
You stay, the cheaper the food is. Now you don't
want to do beer. That's a good idea.

Speaker 2 (31:39):
Like if you stay and it's twelve not your team
is down twelve or more runs, you get to eat,
like the burgers are half rice. Or for every inning
it goes down ten percent or five percent. So if
you stay all nine innings, it's forty five percent off.
So at least if you like your team, get your
ass kick. You're just getting a decent meal out of
araisonable price.

Speaker 1 (31:58):
That's funny, and you could wait. But if they score
runs and they're not down ten anymore, you missed out
on the discount.

Speaker 5 (32:03):
Oh, this is a genius.

Speaker 1 (32:04):
It's dynamic pricing. Yes it is.

Speaker 2 (32:06):
It is in game dynamic price trademark. This for the
for the Astros marketing department hops on it like this.

Speaker 5 (32:12):
This is a good idea.

Speaker 2 (32:14):
You know, I'm tired of ideas being taken from me.
I'm gonna I'm gonna take the rest of the day
off and go get this trademark somehow, some way, all right.
Seven one three two one two five seven nine if
you want to get in seven one three two one
two five seven nine zero. If you want to follow
us on Twitter. By the way, I've lost a lot
of followers, not because of my bad takes, although.

Speaker 1 (32:33):
You could probably say it's probably the why I don't
followed you.

Speaker 6 (32:36):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (32:37):
Inactive accounts are growing, they're Twitter's getting in there, getting
in there, knocking them out. So well, they were gonna
do that, but then people were upset because, like let's say,
you're somebody you knew past and you people like to
have the tweet still up in remembrance. Correct, So people
were mad about that. But I don't know.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
Okay, yeah, I don't know what Elon's doing, but that's fine. Yeah,
So I think I think they're trying to do it.
Sounds like to me like a yearly cleansing of if
you're not because there's some people that also follow you
on Twitter that just don't ever tweet. They just like
to see what you're doing, but they have nothing to say.
But if they don't, if they don't tweet, they think.
I think Twitter thinks that that's inactive too. Maybe ones
that haven't been logged in, maybe they can. Yeah, there's

(33:13):
gonna be so long in. I don't because I would
say the people that I've lost, I'm like, who these
like they have? I went and looked them like they
haven't tweeted since like twenty fifteen. I mean we're talking
about like ten nine, ten years ago. They haven't tweeted
in Okay, So it.

Speaker 1 (33:25):
Is what it is.

Speaker 5 (33:25):
If you want to follow me, come on in.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
We don't bite, I don't overtweet, I don't send out
minutia that you don't care about Oh I do should
do that sometimes, Well you're not the worst one seven
one three two one two five seven ninety seven to
one three two one two five seven ninety This is
the Matt Thomas shild Ross. Whenever Gordy was not with
us on Friday, he was at some of swingers convention.
Now he's back with us here at ten fifty one

(33:48):
on a Monday for a Gordy drive by.

Speaker 10 (33:52):
Good to see you. Yeah, it was a sports talk
convention and my biggest problem is much a heady blowhard
taling how great they are in the program. I was like,
I got this midday host who was just I got
to find a way to deal with them.

Speaker 5 (34:04):
Got any advice? You know what?

Speaker 1 (34:06):
They said, Let him do his thing. He's been doing
it for thirty years. I think he knows what he's
doing right. You know what, I could have loved that convention.

Speaker 5 (34:12):
You suck ass PD.

Speaker 2 (34:13):
You think you know everything, you don't know, squad, put
the damn microphone in front of your face and talk
for twenty hours a week.

Speaker 1 (34:18):
Didn't come back at you know what?

Speaker 5 (34:19):
They did.

Speaker 10 (34:19):
What they did press though, was they said, you know
now more than ever you got to get out more
and do more station events. We're gonna put together the
event later this year. It's gonna be a lot of fun.
I can't wait. Yeah, twenty years of sports talks of
an ninety twenty years and a.

Speaker 2 (34:34):
Verse twenty years. Those early days horrific. Disagree the sports animal. Oh,
I listened, trust me when I was trying fantastic stuff.
When I try to side which station I was going to,
I'm like, I know, I know what station needs more help.

Speaker 1 (34:50):
You said the bars low. I could mail it in
on this point.

Speaker 10 (34:54):
You were here first, then you left in Utah and Minnesota,
and then you came back.

Speaker 2 (34:58):
Yes, I was never here when seven hinety. It's a
sports station, Okay. I worked on k TRH. I used
to do sports beat at night. We used to have
a sports show on kt ACH at night, and then
I would I would actually and then I would do
morning sports. Sometimes I didn't everything and every find those
I want that audio. I want to hear those shows.
O sports Beat, who was on that with you?

Speaker 5 (35:18):
I don't want to talk about it.

Speaker 1 (35:22):
You don't want to talk about it?

Speaker 2 (35:24):
I mean no, no, I usually I'm gonna open a
can of information, but I'm gonna stay back on that.
But point being, it was just, yeah, it's not great.
So yeah, I d December of two thousand and nine,
or no, October two thousand and nine. My wife are like,
let's come back to Houston. So I kicked the tires

(35:45):
that I had two offers here in town, and I said,
I need to listen to each one of the stations
to see what the vibe is. And this station was
replaying segments from earlier in the show of verbatim, which
I could not believe.

Speaker 1 (35:59):
I'm like, guess what I think. I know where I'm
gonna go.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
And then Barry's called me, Matt, I want to have
you do the morning sports on kt R H and
then I'm gonna have you do the Astros postgame shows,
and then I'm gonna have you do a three hour
midday show and I'm gonna pay you this.

Speaker 1 (36:12):
And I said, do I get endorsements. No, I'll take
all of them from me.

Speaker 2 (36:15):
I'm like, okay, that's no, it was not true, but
that Michael Barry was actually the one that hired me.

Speaker 1 (36:19):
And that was December two thousand and nine. Wait, so
you've been but then you left.

Speaker 2 (36:25):
No, I came back, and I came in January, came
back in January twenty tensh So.

Speaker 10 (36:29):
You've been on this station since January two thousand two. Correct,
Good god.

Speaker 2 (36:33):
I know you were here shortly thereafter, right, well even
here a long time eleven.

Speaker 5 (36:36):
Twelve twelve February twenty twelve. Yeah. How long were you
the his day one producer? Yes? I was.

Speaker 2 (36:43):
We always I always tell you this. I was their
day one. But I was a floater. I was a
rotating floater. So I became full time about a month
in February.

Speaker 1 (36:52):
You were starting in January.

Speaker 2 (36:54):
By February, I was full time and you were full
time guy because it was a transitional period they were
doing hiring, but I was next up, so I was
going to.

Speaker 1 (37:01):
Be your guy.

Speaker 2 (37:03):
If you worked the first show with me, yes, And
did you do the second show with me? I don't
think I did, And then it was then it was floating.
I probably worked half the shows for the first month.

Speaker 5 (37:11):
Didn't you fold the show your mic open? You know?

Speaker 2 (37:14):
I used to say stuff in his ear because Charlie
Pililo wouldn't let me talk on air, and so I
would just say stuff into Charlie's ear, and I did
it to Matt and he was like, are you saying
that on air or because that's just how I thought
things went. And he was like, open your mic, stay
it on air, and then the rest is history. Sorry, Matt,
my fault is your fault. How you handcuffed yourself? This
silver tongue over hair is got silver cuz of me? Well,

(37:35):
I told him. I said, look, I said, I'm gonna
call apternity. I'm gonna bust your balls.

Speaker 5 (37:38):
You can. You must come after me.

Speaker 1 (37:40):
Because you told me I was funny, and you said
for a minute to talk about and I was it was.

Speaker 5 (37:43):
A bad judge, bad chapter judgment.

Speaker 2 (37:45):
There now, not fifteen years of this now now I
pride and scratched and clawed my way into studio with you.

Speaker 5 (37:53):
It wasn't even born back then. That's how long you
cop do it? Right now, someone was gonna do that.

Speaker 1 (37:56):
Yeah, yeah, well you even third grade when the show started.

Speaker 2 (37:59):
He picking I was in fifth grade. He was picking
his nose watching SpongeBob. I was eight and this was
two weeks ago. All right, Uh, okay, we were talking
about the astros. We're gonna get to be honest. I
this is and this I know this is such a
minutia question. But do you know my son, my middle son,
who graduated MA and M on Thursday, who spent last night,

(38:21):
spent last night looking at the contract of the A
and baseball coach.

Speaker 1 (38:26):
He's looking for for those of you that don't know,
and in baseball has been disappointing this year now twos.

Speaker 2 (38:33):
They were getting better. Two weeks ago they took two
out of three from L s U. That was a big,
big deal, in a huge So this past weekend they
had he's rost.

Speaker 5 (38:43):
You don't know this.

Speaker 1 (38:44):
They had Missouri come in winless missoo Missouri and not
one a conference game.

Speaker 2 (38:48):
They were in twenty four Missouri Ross went to College
Station and swept the.

Speaker 1 (38:52):
Aggies, oh three straight times, and I mean three blowouts too.

Speaker 11 (38:57):
Man.

Speaker 10 (38:58):
Friday night, it was like, oh my god, they actually won.
But you thought and I was gonna come back and
win the next two they got swept.

Speaker 1 (39:03):
That's a shame.

Speaker 10 (39:04):
They also in Austin they are now going to They're
going to make history, guys, as the first team ever
to start the season as a preseason number one and
not make the postseason.

Speaker 5 (39:14):
Historically bad. That's a shame.

Speaker 2 (39:16):
They would have to go sweep Georgia's sweet, all kind
all paint. You know, Painton's been home with us for days.
He's running in like I'm trying to now, like you know,
a long weekend Dad. The buyouts only this.

Speaker 1 (39:26):
I'm like, Son, I don't need this right now.

Speaker 5 (39:28):
Yeah, make a little.

Speaker 2 (39:29):
Donation, Pops, but let's go. Trv Aberts is gonna let
him go. I mean, I don't know, it's a lot
of money. It's only two point nine million or something,
but I think it's a baseball.

Speaker 5 (39:39):
Maybe he didn't miss.

Speaker 10 (39:39):
It, you miss Jimbo Fishery, Yeah, dropped story a few
months ago. They were cutting back on on supplot like
pens and paper supplies to save every dollar set they could.

Speaker 5 (39:51):
Really.

Speaker 2 (39:52):
Yes, well they played off a bunch of people too.
I mean, I think the preman is smaller today than
when Trev Alberts got there.

Speaker 10 (39:57):
That's the sacrifice they made. The bio intuition keeps go
gowing up. Great job, guys.

Speaker 2 (40:03):
So I just wanted to bring that up because my
son is just he is, and he's out on alum.
He's got the ring is turning the other direction. Now
he's all let it be.

Speaker 10 (40:10):
In a lesson. You never hire the guy. The interiom
that everybody rallies around. That never works.

Speaker 1 (40:16):
Rodney Terry says, it's not Rodney Terry. How'd that one
work out?

Speaker 10 (40:19):
Come on?

Speaker 5 (40:20):
How do you all feel?

Speaker 1 (40:20):
My coaches and waiting?

Speaker 5 (40:22):
They don't do this? Anyone want to work out? It's
still happening at you of h Who was? Who is
my guy? The defense quarter of Texas?

Speaker 4 (40:28):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (40:29):
Welling under black Brown?

Speaker 5 (40:33):
He was? And then that didn't work out?

Speaker 4 (40:35):
All right?

Speaker 1 (40:35):
So what else you get?

Speaker 12 (40:37):
Got?

Speaker 10 (40:37):
Astros? Oh, we got a big car bock this Sunday
doing a watch party. You want to come out, I'm busy.
It's early too. It was supposed to be. It's it
was a one o'clock game in Dallas. It's gonna be
a it's going to be a noon game on Rocude eighteenth,
so make sure.

Speaker 5 (40:56):
Look.

Speaker 10 (40:56):
Let me tell you guys. This weekend, you got games
this weekend Astros games. She got an MLB Network game,
you got an Apple TV game, and you got.

Speaker 5 (41:04):
A Roku game.

Speaker 10 (41:05):
Seven to ninety is free stream the games right beyond
Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 5 (41:09):
Yes, forget watching him on TV. Listen on seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (41:12):
I plan on being hungover that morning, so we'll see. Okay,
make it out there, roku Is. Those games are at
eleven o'clock.

Speaker 10 (41:17):
It's noon New Central, Okay, so that means at eleven
am pregame, I will have you out there carbox.

Speaker 5 (41:22):
Thank you. They'll have five dollars Crawford box ross.

Speaker 1 (41:25):
So you know, if I'm hung over, a Crawford five
dollars Crawford block might do me right.

Speaker 5 (41:28):
This is gonna be our last.

Speaker 10 (41:29):
Now it's gonna get a little bit hotter this weekend,
but every weather person's been saying this is probably gonna
be the last like bearable weekend outside. After this, it's
going to be, you know, an inferno every weekend. So
come on out to the car bock this Sunday. We'll
be doing a watch party and grab you a nice
cold Crawford Block while you're watching the Astros.

Speaker 5 (41:45):
It just goes perfect, all right.

Speaker 1 (41:47):
Last thing for a your role.

Speaker 2 (41:48):
How about the fact that if the president does gets
what he wants, he's going to create this nil subcommittee
that's gonna be led by Nick Saban and the guy
that sold his ail and gas company in Lubbock who's
a big red raider, anil guy for four million dollars.

Speaker 1 (42:02):
He's going to be co charing this with Nick Saban.

Speaker 5 (42:04):
I hate it.

Speaker 10 (42:04):
Tommy Tulberville has been one of the big ones pushing this.
I look, I just I think there there's a line
on like somewhere along the line, we've created this narrative that,
oh my god, college.

Speaker 5 (42:15):
Sports is just in a terrible spot right now. It's
in an awful spot.

Speaker 10 (42:19):
I'm going you guys are watching the games right like
we got to expanded playoff, We've got you know, NCAA
tournament was awesome, like everything is Actually the product is
good right now. I understand people are angry that kids
are getting millions of dollars, and Niko Yamliavo like, I
think we should look at it as it's a learning experience.
But I don't know why old people are so mad

(42:40):
that kids are getting paid money. Because this and grab
you a nice col Crawford back while you're watching the Astros.

Speaker 5 (42:45):
It just goes perfect, all right.

Speaker 2 (42:47):
Last thing for a LICHR role, how about the fact
that if the president does gets what he wants, he's
going to create this nil subcommittee that's gonna be led
by Nick Saban and the guy that sold his oil
and gas company in Lubbock, who's a big raider and
il guy, for four million dollars.

Speaker 1 (43:02):
He's gonna be co charing this with Nick Saban.

Speaker 5 (43:04):
I hate it.

Speaker 10 (43:04):
Tommy Tubberville has been one of the big ones pushing this.
I look, I just I think there there's a line
on like somewhere along the line, we've created this narrative that,
oh my god, college.

Speaker 5 (43:15):
Sports is just in a terrible spot right now. It's
in an awful spot.

Speaker 10 (43:19):
I'm going you guys are watching the games right like
we got to expanded playoff, We've got you know, NCAA
tournament was awesome, like everything is Actually the product is
good right now.

Speaker 5 (43:29):
I understand people are angry that kids are getting millions.

Speaker 10 (43:31):
Of dollars, and Niko Yamaliava like, I think we should
look at it as it's a learning experience. But I
don't know why old people are so mad that kids
are getting paid money because this college sports was a
million dollar business that became a billion dollar business, and
all we expected the kids to go, oh, well, you
get a scholarship, that's good enough, right, No, the billionaires
are stuff in their pockets. So I don't I don't

(43:53):
like this whole thing on Trump and everybody coming, and
he's going, oh, we need to we need to get
a wrangle on this nil Why why do you care
if somebody wants to write a check to a player
and waste their millions of dollars. Let them it's America.
It's right out of the SEC playbook. Tell them it's
you're right, your play market accounts. Let go to give
a kid a duffel bag of cash. Now, it's just
out in the open, like, this isn't gonna stop it,

(44:15):
It's not gonna prevent it.

Speaker 2 (44:17):
I'll have to tell the truth. Take on this come
up in a half an hour. Thank you very much, Gore.
Now we know that you hate the kids and you
don't want them to get paid. So how want the
kids get paid? Especially volleyball players in an Atlantic ten
school rhymes with boul Ryland.

Speaker 1 (44:30):
Yeah, the crit volleyball carlowns. Take a break.

Speaker 2 (44:39):
We're way over Airline Resimond, Airline Miles for Dad eleven O.

Speaker 1 (44:44):
Five Sports Talk seven ninety. We are here at our
number two of four.

Speaker 2 (44:50):
You know what, if we ever I had an open
mic night, I think I'm gonna take the material I
used about Mother's Day and use it. I think people
would be like, that's pretty damn funny because I'm not
a right comedic writers.

Speaker 1 (45:01):
Yeah, Matt, mothers suck great stuff. Yeah, they're the worst.
We all want our mother.

Speaker 5 (45:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (45:06):
You know, if you missed, is that the reaction you
think you're getting. No, if that's if that's if you
go back and listen to the show.

Speaker 5 (45:13):
Damn it.

Speaker 2 (45:17):
I'm just saying that, go back and listen to the podcasts.

Speaker 5 (45:40):
It's a company. If you'd really help us out, thank you.

Speaker 1 (45:43):
I'll buy you some beer.

Speaker 5 (45:44):
Yeah you're brewing.

Speaker 8 (45:46):
We need to get our number.

Speaker 2 (45:47):
We're getting our ass kicked by Minneapolis. I mean, come on, please,
please just make us. There are different animals. Lease, just
make us at number one sports station.

Speaker 5 (45:55):
We're trying to.

Speaker 1 (45:56):
Yeah, but I mean a little Minneapolis. Let's go Houston,
Minneapple a little more. That's true.

Speaker 2 (46:04):
They're fierce. They're also on the NFM dial too. Imagine
how powerful we'd be if we were on the FM
dial Sports ninety Sports Talk ninety seven something.

Speaker 1 (46:15):
No, we would knock off. Don't you buy a frequency
for us?

Speaker 2 (46:17):
Sunny Sports nine point one, We'd only speaking positive and
Tyson will cut you watch out.

Speaker 1 (46:24):
I don't need that Dana comention doing Dana do him
mid days? Everybody, it's me light and every show today. Yeah,
you know the Astros on Saturday they lost ten nothing,
but they came back Sunny. Really, they really tried Sports.

Speaker 5 (46:39):
Ninety nine points.

Speaker 1 (46:40):
Or Delilah Delilah breaking down Jalen Green or the Texans
Christ Jalen Green really tried hard, important folks.

Speaker 2 (46:47):
The Texans got there. Ask this past Christmas, but it
was the spirit of the season. At least the players
got home to their families in time to have hard
life lessons.

Speaker 5 (46:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (46:59):
Sometimes the time they really make you appreciate the good time.
Could we do an entire four hour show with nothing
but positive takes? You know what I was saying that
last week. We kind of talked about this and we
never did it because we do like shut your bum
mess up slash eight.

Speaker 1 (47:10):
Nobody get time for that?

Speaker 2 (47:11):
Why can't we do? I've got time for that or something.
You know, we were talking about this last week. Why
don't we do?

Speaker 5 (47:17):
Is is that?

Speaker 2 (47:17):
What was the opposite of shut your bomb ass up?
Please tell us much about it? Please tell me more,
Please keep going. I don't know, we'll we'll have to
brainstorm this. We have got two days. This Wednesday will.

Speaker 1 (47:30):
Be the debut of the opposite of shut your bomb
ass up. How about we need more of this?

Speaker 5 (47:38):
Give me more.

Speaker 2 (47:40):
That's kind of kind of gave me some mo we
can play. James Brown gave me some mo We we
get show show meetings. Yeah, we have show meeting for
the first one in fifteen years. Mike was at the
Astros game. It was it was a pleasant experience. You
got to spend time with family and friends, correct, Mike.

Speaker 3 (47:57):
Yeah, I did.

Speaker 7 (47:58):
I did my son to the game, and of course
then the nothing.

Speaker 3 (48:02):
Was it very helpful.

Speaker 7 (48:04):
But the guys behind me had some pregame drinks and
they were hollering at Cam Smith asking him he could
if he could pitch.

Speaker 5 (48:14):
Asking who.

Speaker 7 (48:16):
Smith in the right field?

Speaker 2 (48:18):
Oh, Cam Smith, if he could pitch. He's got a
good arm out there. He had hit ninety three. He
is a good athlete. I mean, I'm not going to
dot him.

Speaker 7 (48:26):
Yeah, And then they started on the ball boy asking
him if he could pitch, and then he got kind
of boring towards the middle innings, and then the girl
sitting next to my son started asking him, since you're
not interested in the game, can you take pictures of us?
That's how he spent the rest of the game.

Speaker 1 (48:44):
Now, how old is your son?

Speaker 7 (48:46):
He's twenty four.

Speaker 1 (48:47):
And how old the girls at taking pictures?

Speaker 7 (48:50):
They were probably in their twenties. Twenty five.

Speaker 5 (48:53):
Is your son single?

Speaker 7 (48:55):
Yes, he was, and he didn't get a digit.

Speaker 1 (48:58):
That's a good game.

Speaker 5 (49:00):
Let's be honest. It's not.

Speaker 1 (49:00):
Your son didn't call and have a bad time. You
had a bad time. He had a great time. Don't
don't ruin his joy.

Speaker 12 (49:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (49:07):
He told me don't rain on his parade. And I
was like, really, dude, I spent three hundred dollars on tickets.

Speaker 1 (49:12):
Yeah, you've got a number. He should be thanking you, right, Okay, Well, yeah,
give us.

Speaker 7 (49:20):
That's how that went.

Speaker 1 (49:21):
On on Saturday, so he got he was taking pictures
of girls. He got a number. You spent three hundred dollars.
You left with a frown. He left with a smile
on his face.

Speaker 4 (49:30):
Pretty much.

Speaker 7 (49:31):
But we're going to Arlington this weekend, so we're gonna
it is gonna be our first experience over there. So
we're gonna wear Astros gear and hopefully they'll show up.

Speaker 2 (49:39):
Well, hopefully you don't get hit by people too. It'd
be very careful when you're up there.

Speaker 7 (49:43):
Yeah, we've never been there before. I've heard bad things
about that play Well, you.

Speaker 2 (49:47):
Know, it's just a It's Arlington. Thank you for the phone.
Come on, man, Arlington is just a home of I mean,
it's just pawn shops and grime. It's low end fast food.

Speaker 5 (49:58):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 2 (50:01):
I mean I can't really understand. I mean it really
it's I'm not trying to stereotype, it's that's what it is. Yeah,
when Gordon and I went for the playoffs, I think
the nicest meal we had was at the Bendi's. Is
that yeah, I mean it's true. And when they put
up Mayonnai's on my burger when I asked for Mustard
and we and we teased about the parade going right
through a Walmart and a Target and all that, and they.

Speaker 1 (50:21):
Literally did that.

Speaker 2 (50:23):
They didn't They didn't even go to Dallas to do it,
which would have been weird because it's not even close
to Dallas.

Speaker 1 (50:27):
It's by forty five minutes.

Speaker 2 (50:29):
Get ready, folks, suburban sports life, it's coming, at least
for the football team. I think you're onto something there. Yeah,
because I was watching Sports Sunday. Oh yeah, Aaron Wilson
was talking about it. He was saying that basically pretty
much that the team does want to explore a suburban

(50:51):
type of basically everything you've been saying, yeah, Texas Live
type of because these sports owners, they see what other
cities are doing, like this is good, this is fun.
Give me the land, give me a good sweetheart deal Bill,
My and I get to collect everything.

Speaker 5 (51:07):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 2 (51:08):
I mean, Hannah knows. I don't think cow really particularly cares.
I just think he doesn't know. Well, he looks at
his chair, he looks in his debit card amount, and
there's like you know when you look at your debit
and you're like, man, I got an extra fifty dollars
and after like when when you run out of zero's
and fives and sevens to put on the pay day
when you're when your little debit card when you get

(51:28):
forty dollars out and it gives you the receipt when
it comes out to a third receipt as all the
zeros are on there, do you think it really Col's
overly concerned about what's gonna happen. I mean for his kids,
kids kids. You know, it's above his understanding. That's okay.
It's like try to try and teach your dog astrophysics.
It's just some things are above some people's understandings. Yeah,
and that's why Hannah's always within two steps of him,

(51:49):
just to make sure everything gets taken care of and
comments don't get over discussed or misconstrued.

Speaker 5 (51:57):
Or that kind of thing. You misspeak.

Speaker 1 (51:58):
Yeah, yeah, I it's gonna be I'm gonna be very
curious who's going to carry the water for this campaign.

Speaker 5 (52:08):
They need to go to a super Bowl and then
they'll get whatever they want.

Speaker 2 (52:12):
That's the easiest thing. You lose again in the divisional playoff.
I wish you luck because you brought you brought a
new president who's not from here. Who has no Houston connections.
All he does is build stadiums. I mean the hand
running was on.

Speaker 5 (52:27):
The wall.

Speaker 2 (52:29):
And you you can't you don't have a Andre Johnson
is is soft spoken.

Speaker 1 (52:34):
He's not gonna be able to carry the.

Speaker 2 (52:35):
We need this, and they're doing a good job of
kind of like a soft opening, like talking about this publicly.

Speaker 1 (52:41):
Now nothing happening.

Speaker 2 (52:42):
We're always bringing up practice facility first, exploratory. Yeah, we're
not sure. You see it's coming, you better be ready.
Stadium talk took over five years of my young broadcast career.
Ross may be in that too. The difference is the
NFL is not lying Houston.

Speaker 3 (53:01):
Leave that.

Speaker 2 (53:02):
And but Adams, the city hated him and what they
were asking. He kept asking for more and more and
more and more, and then the city hit hit a limit.
Here's gonna happen. This is happening in a lot of
sports these cities in the last ten years. In a nutshell. Uh,
these these sports teams go to the city and the
city says, shut your bomb ass up, and they want
up paying it for themselves.

Speaker 1 (53:22):
Not every situation like for instance, who do who do?

Speaker 5 (53:24):
I got?

Speaker 1 (53:24):
I got a text from somebody that said somebody just
built it themselves. Oh god, oh it hurts. What I
can't think of the city.

Speaker 2 (53:31):
There's a city that that is building a new facility
and they're paying it for themselves.

Speaker 1 (53:37):
M hmm, you have to look it up, Gary Spring, NFL.
I'm not a half percent sure. God, it hurts when
I get don't know these things. But there's somebody that's paying.
There's a new DC stadium and there's a little what
it was. I think DC is paying for everything. I
don't think they are.

Speaker 2 (53:54):
No, no, no, they're they're paying two thirds, I think,
but somebody is paying for it all I got. Oh
this is gonna bother me. Oh well, garyan Spring, hangtime,
we'll get you to come a minute.

Speaker 5 (54:03):
The bears. No, I don't you know.

Speaker 1 (54:05):
Yeah, sorry, Well that's right, we'll figure it out. Seven
one three two one two five seven ninety eleven nineteen
on the Matt Thomas Shoe Ross.

Speaker 2 (54:14):
Now, boys, we have to tell the truth coming up
in ten minutes. I only believe one of the four things.

Speaker 1 (54:21):
Okay, so that's three falsehoods. Three falsehoods. I think it's harder, right,
more falsehoods that are believable that you believe. If that
makes sense to that three times fast that it's believable
that you believe them. Correct, So three of the four
I don't believe.

Speaker 2 (54:36):
One I do believe, okay, and that's coming up today
in about ten minutes from now. Seven one three two
one two five seven ninety is the way you reach
our program that if you want to join us, we've
got to tell the truth we have. Uh, if you
go on a great out how ross did on Sports
Sunday last night, You're more than welcome to do that. Okay,
thank you, and follow me on Instagram at sports RVY

(54:56):
trying to build it up. Trying to build it up
at Sports RV.

Speaker 1 (55:00):
It's not really worth it. It's just more regrititiated stuff. Hey,
look at me, I'm on television. I'm a star now.
Who needs that influencer initiatives at iHeartMedia. Please follow me
at Sports RV on and you thaw just adding your
name make all the difference in the world into that.

Speaker 2 (55:16):
What do you mean, Yeah, Matt Toms show Rosses. No,
I don't think it, But no, I didn't think it
wouldn't make much.

Speaker 5 (55:23):
But at least, you know, we had to try.

Speaker 1 (55:25):
We had to give it a college. Try think it's
been better. Things have been better. Let's get there. Seven
one three two one two five seven ninety seven three
two one two. I got to restart this thing. Are
equipment's not working? Are you shocked?

Speaker 5 (55:40):
All right?

Speaker 12 (55:41):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (55:41):
I cannot aye?

Speaker 2 (55:42):
Alays try Gary in spring on seven ninety Gary, thanks
for holding Good morning, Hey.

Speaker 13 (55:46):
Good morning guys. A great show is HUESU. Well, I
have two topics here. At one is the I forget
the three letters, but it's the college kids are getting paid.

Speaker 1 (55:54):
N I L I L name, image and likeness.

Speaker 4 (55:58):
Yeah okay. And the one is the volleyball. I'll get
to the second one second, the volleyball second.

Speaker 13 (56:04):
But now I listen to your opinion there, and I
respect your opinion.

Speaker 4 (56:10):
The younger of the two there and but I have
the opposite opinion.

Speaker 13 (56:14):
So I can have my opinion and be right in
my mind as well as you. I take it when
you said it that yours is the only right opinion.

Speaker 4 (56:21):
But it's not.

Speaker 13 (56:22):
I don't believe in the in the athletes getting paid
and getting a free college tuition. I figure if to
get paid, they should have to pay for their own tuition,
while somebody less fortunate not getting paid can get that scholarship.

Speaker 4 (56:40):
So I just don't.

Speaker 13 (56:41):
Believe in the in the getting paid and a free
college tuition, and I feel firmly about that. So hopefully
you can respect my opinion on that as well as
I I respect your opinion on the opposite.

Speaker 1 (56:56):
Thank you, Gary. So, yeah, I have no issue with that.

Speaker 2 (56:59):
I understand that to where you're saying it's a different
thing and they're not college. But also if the school
is going to offer it and give it to them,
then that's well within their right to take it. You know,
I don't think it's a one for one them beginning
a scholarship does not prevent anybody else from getting a scholarship.

Speaker 13 (57:14):
Well, if they don't get one, getting that money and
they don't get that, well then there's a scholarship.

Speaker 2 (57:19):
Yeah, but they're also providing they're providing the Yeah, but
the money and the revenues that are providing more than
give up for make up for that value. And that's
why they do get the scholarships. And they also get
the name, image and likeness money. It's two different things
because it's not tied into the school. The money that
they're getting from the nil collectives is basically what what
you would call advertisings appearmids names, images, and likeness.

Speaker 1 (57:41):
It's separate from the school.

Speaker 2 (57:43):
Yeah, the school put it this way, Gary, The school
is not the scholarship limits are not being reduced because
nil money is increasing. Nil money is coming from frankly
rich alums that just want a sidepocket the money to
give the kids. This is just circumventing because the money
cannot directly come from the school. The NIM money at
this point has to come from it what.

Speaker 1 (58:02):
They call it collective, which is basically a group of
rich people that want to take care of athletes. So
they go ahead.

Speaker 4 (58:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 13 (58:10):
My question is, so they take this money, do they
lose their amateur status?

Speaker 4 (58:14):
Are they now professionals?

Speaker 2 (58:15):
They have to file taxes, but they're still considered amateur athletics.

Speaker 7 (58:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (58:19):
See, I don't agree with that too.

Speaker 13 (58:20):
But anyway, I'm just like you said, like you said earlier,
it's the older people.

Speaker 4 (58:24):
I'm old school. So that's funny anyway.

Speaker 1 (58:27):
But that was Gordy that said that, by the way,
that is Gordy.

Speaker 13 (58:30):
Yeah, I know, Hey, Matt, I regret I don't regret
it because I'm gonna bring it up.

Speaker 4 (58:37):
But anyway, Matt, do you do you ever look at Facebook?

Speaker 2 (58:41):
I just talked about it earlier today as a matter
of fact, about everybody hit there. Everybody's got the greatest
mothers of all time, and I disagree. I think my
mother is the greatest of all time. But my wife's
the greatest mother of all time. So for those of
you that say you've got the greatest mothers, you're wrong.

Speaker 13 (58:54):
And the reason I asked, Matt, and you have a
daughter playing volleyball at I do.

Speaker 1 (59:00):
She's got she's a junior in high.

Speaker 4 (59:01):
School, okay, and she's going to get a scholarship. It
sounds like, yes she is. Yes, Okay. So you see
some of the uh uh.

Speaker 13 (59:11):
Uh pictures of the volleyball players are pokeding on Facebook?

Speaker 5 (59:14):
Now, yes I do, Yes, I do.

Speaker 4 (59:16):
Good Lord, that's pornography or.

Speaker 1 (59:19):
So well, that's you're talking about.

Speaker 5 (59:21):
NL.

Speaker 1 (59:21):
Thank you for the phone call. Gary. Let's be brutally honest.

Speaker 2 (59:26):
The women, the young ladies, I should say, young women
that are getting money that are from Nil rosses because
they're spectacularly beautiful women.

Speaker 1 (59:36):
That's just arouality of it.

Speaker 5 (59:38):
Mm hmm cavn or twins.

Speaker 2 (59:40):
Livy, you've done you done, do you any I would say,
of the top ten female athletes that are getting nil,
my guess is safely eight or nine of them are
because of their looks. But that goes anything. I mean, well,
model ugly, but they're no suching as ugly models. Your

(01:00:00):
model because you're attractive. You're using your eyes, would say,
even male athletes, while of course a lot of his
athletic achievements, I think it's beneficial for Tom Brady, do
you know to be to be handsome and be more marketable,
that's part of the charm.

Speaker 5 (01:00:14):
I think. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:00:17):
You know, somebody was talking about Jeremy Paine earlier, like
Jeremy Payne is on more stuff than than anybody else
in Houston as far as astros athletes to me or
just about the handsome dude, and that helps. It makes
you more market of absolutely and charismatic. And you know,
you can smile and can say.

Speaker 1 (01:00:32):
A few things. I mean, if you're spoken, you're not
gonna happen.

Speaker 2 (01:00:35):
But I would say, also, those women that are very
attractive are not afraid to get on their Instagram and post,
afraid to get on their snap.

Speaker 5 (01:00:42):
She's gonna make you some cash.

Speaker 2 (01:00:44):
Go ahead, Yeah, now, my wife, my daughter unfortunately is
very active at Instagram and snapchat not and that kind
of thing. But she's got a lot of friends and
she snaps and does all the things, and so it's
gonna be a difficult run for me the next four
or five years. I'm sorry, Matt, be checking that out
a lot. Stay off, that's a stay away. Feels like
a stay away.

Speaker 5 (01:01:03):
Don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:01:05):
I'm not a father, so I can't tell you how
to father, So I don't know, but he feels like
a stay away. Trying to stay with me for a second. Here,
we'll hang on put well on hold for a second
and we'll screen and call in a second. Let me
just stay her something real quick. So Jonathan, my wife
and my daughter and I are having these conversations about
what her life is going to be like when she
leaves us in a couple of years ago to Rhode Island.
She wants to do this, she wants to go to

(01:01:26):
Boston the weekend. She wants to go to New York
on the trains. And I'm like, slow your roll down, girl,
just get into college and do that first, then do
all your little adventuress. But she's already trying to test
the waters of what she can get away with without
mom and dad or spent her whole life in Kingwood. Man,
you gotta let her spread her wings, fly car or
she's gonna be by her now her freshman year, she
will not have a car. How easy is it to

(01:01:48):
get to Like you can just train like Amtrak or
that type of thing.

Speaker 5 (01:01:53):
Okay, you know what I'll say, she won't have time
to I.

Speaker 1 (01:01:57):
Would agree with you on that.

Speaker 5 (01:01:58):
Like you she's an a. Yeah, I don't have to
worry too bad. Even in volleyball and spring ball, like
the off season, they still that tribals I will they do.
But like in Flu's like for I know, for SFA,
they had a rule, the team rule. You can't leave
the city on like certain days, and like, oh, I
like that idea.

Speaker 2 (01:02:14):
So like the problem is we want to we want
up for her recruiting trip. And all the girls are like,
they're like, hey, Carly Camp, you should come here.

Speaker 5 (01:02:20):
Play here.

Speaker 2 (01:02:21):
We hang out with all the Brown boys, the Harvard boys.
We hang out with you because there's a lot of
great schools. Oh no, she's gonna marry a Harvard boys.
And then I thought to myself, well, it's better than
saying like SFA.

Speaker 1 (01:02:32):
I mean, I'm sorry, I mean SFA. But if she's
gonna be someone's Brown or Harvard, K I'm okay with that.

Speaker 5 (01:02:40):
Okay, look, you know what Harvard. Yeah, yeah, we're going
to Harvard, and you know I'll take any ivy league.

Speaker 1 (01:02:47):
Bill O'Brien graduated Brown. Can't be that hard.

Speaker 8 (01:02:50):
Oh snap, she just she just wants to have two adventures,
something like, oh, you're seventeen years old, relaxed, and she's
a junior now and you're junior high junior in high school.

Speaker 2 (01:03:03):
Yeah, she's been caging up in the depths of Kingwood,
letter caged.

Speaker 5 (01:03:06):
You've been driving around and fly perfect. Let her senior
year just be free. She's going on a cruise this summer.
She's already been down the gap was in a couple
of times.

Speaker 1 (01:03:16):
She loves.

Speaker 5 (01:03:19):
She don't know no better. Well, stop, it's wrong with you.
I tell you right now.

Speaker 2 (01:03:27):
She ain't being around Uncle Ross, and I'm telling her
to send here to right wrong directions.

Speaker 1 (01:03:31):
I got some life advice for her, all right.

Speaker 2 (01:03:33):
To tell the truth is up next three of the
four sports sakes. I'm gonna give you the next segment.
I don't believe it's up to Ross and John to
decide which ones.

Speaker 1 (01:03:41):
I do believe. I never know why, but I actually do.

Speaker 2 (01:04:02):
Ladies and gentlemen, Remember, I think the easiest thing to
do in life is to lie. The average person lies
at least four times a day. I'm probably above that.

Speaker 1 (01:04:08):
Yeah, I got you clocked at seventeen a day. I think,
I mean, I probably I probably have lied seventeen times
in a day.

Speaker 5 (01:04:16):
I don't know the last time I did it, but
it's been a while.

Speaker 2 (01:04:19):
All Right, ladies and gentlemen, I've got four sports takes.
It's up to Jonathan and Ross. Now, Jonathan, I don't
think you've even hit one to tell the truth.

Speaker 5 (01:04:25):
Yet.

Speaker 1 (01:04:25):
You've got every single one of these wrongs.

Speaker 5 (01:04:27):
Is that true?

Speaker 1 (01:04:28):
Yeah, he's a goose, he's got a goose egg, he's dode.
You got a one in four shot. Come on, Jonathan, alright,
turn on music. I told you got to get into
the mind of a madman.

Speaker 5 (01:04:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:04:40):
Remember these This is because these are my takes. I mean,
they're good takes.

Speaker 2 (01:04:42):
Yeah, he doesn't he exactly like no game sevens and
stuff like that. Right, all right, there are four takes
I only believe one of them. Only believe one one.
Let me get let me write this down all right.
Tonight is the NBA Draft lottery. If San Antonio or
Hughes lands in the one, two, three, or four spot,

(01:05:06):
that pick will be used to help acquire jiannisin the.

Speaker 1 (01:05:08):
GUPO from the Milwaukee Bucks. That's what it's gonna take
for Milwaukee to go.

Speaker 2 (01:05:14):
Okay, I need some of the parts of it, but
I think part of what will be a trade of
a top three NBA player will have to involve a
top four.

Speaker 5 (01:05:22):
NBA draft pick.

Speaker 2 (01:05:23):
Okay, Okay, So I think Yannis ends up with one
of the two teams. If so, make sure I make
sure Giannis ends up with one of these two teams
if either San Antonio and or Houston end.

Speaker 5 (01:05:36):
Up in the top four.

Speaker 1 (01:05:37):
Okay, okay, Number two. I want you to need not worry.

Speaker 2 (01:05:42):
Oklahoma City the heavy favorite, Boston the heavy favorite. They're
still going to win their series. I know these things
are competitive. Right now, back and forth to one. Right now,
the Knicks are up, and you got to tow two.
Oklahoma City, Denver, need not worry. The Thunder and the
Celtics are still going with these series. Okay, Number three,

(01:06:05):
I'm afraid we're going to have to have an uncomfortable
conversation about Lance mccultors pretty soon. Whatef that's a go
down and get his mojo at the minor league, skip
a turn in the start, maybe a thought of the
bullpens got to be out of options. I'm just saying
an uncomfortable conversation could be coming up about Lance mcculors. Okay,

(01:06:31):
And number four, we're gonna have this new committee that
this subcommittee is going to ultimately be created by President
Trump with his buddy Nick Saban. We're gonna have a
salary cap in the NL within the next five years.
They're gonna say, look, we understand the NIL, We understand
you guys gotta get paid, but this rampant just pay
just to pay and out budget everybody. There's gonna be

(01:06:51):
some sort of salary cap that's going to be applied
on players per.

Speaker 5 (01:06:55):
Year for NIL.

Speaker 2 (01:06:57):
Okay, those are my four takes. I only believe one
of them, and I'll recap them for you again. One
Giannis ends up with either San Antonio or the Rockets.
If either one of the two teams ends up with
the one, two, three, or four in tonight's draft lottery.
Number two, need not worry. Oklahoma City and Boston are
soone in their series. Number three, I'm worried. We're gonna
have to have an uncomfortable conversation about Lance mcculors shortly.

(01:07:20):
And number four, we're gonna have to have an n
I L. We're gonna need ANIL salary cap within the
next five years. Which one of the four takes? Do
I actually tell you the truth?

Speaker 5 (01:07:31):
Okay, Ross, I don't said Boston and Okac is who
you said?

Speaker 3 (01:07:35):
Right?

Speaker 5 (01:07:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:07:36):
In Cleveland? Nope, Boston and New k Olkahoma City? Okay,
go ahead, what do you think of John?

Speaker 5 (01:07:42):
I'm just I'm gonna taco number three with Lance mcculor is.

Speaker 3 (01:07:45):
I don't.

Speaker 5 (01:07:45):
Matt is a harsh person, but I don't think it's
gonna be that hardh So he just got back.

Speaker 1 (01:07:50):
Matt's been doubting Lance for a long time.

Speaker 5 (01:07:51):
Really, that one's in play. That one's in play. M
HM hates Lance mc color. That's not true.

Speaker 2 (01:07:56):
I heard he was sending death threats. That's not definitely
not to say. Yeah, I'm sorry, that's not true. To
my name is Rossett's not true.

Speaker 5 (01:08:03):
Matt wasn't doing that.

Speaker 1 (01:08:04):
Okay, Uh, there's I don't agree.

Speaker 2 (01:08:09):
No, there's no salary cap with any Now this is
actually pretty good because all these are kind of flimsy.

Speaker 5 (01:08:14):
In five years, he said, though, right, But.

Speaker 2 (01:08:16):
I mean Boston and a Key Okay, see, are gonna
win there?

Speaker 1 (01:08:19):
Serious?

Speaker 2 (01:08:19):
You know what, I'm just gonna keep it simp. I'm
gonna go with that one, I think, but I think
it's two or three, maybe.

Speaker 5 (01:08:28):
Two or three. Let's go. Since I'm hearing this, let's go.
I'm gonna go with three of win lansa colors.

Speaker 2 (01:08:34):
Okay, Well, I think San Antonio and Houston would be
in a much better spot.

Speaker 1 (01:08:40):
I ended up in the top four. I can't guarantee
that Giannis is gonna go there even with that. I mean,
it depends if New York gets involved, Brooklyn gets involved,
Golden State Orders get involved, a team they're not even
talking about gets involved.

Speaker 5 (01:08:53):
I can't.

Speaker 1 (01:08:53):
I can't tell you that for sure.

Speaker 2 (01:08:55):
I believe it if the Rockets or Spurs get a two,
three or four in the pick, that they're gonna wint
up getting honest as part of it. So I can't
say that Okay, number two, I don't ever really see
nil being under control under any circumstance. It's gonna be
too They're just gonna have to lose amateur status.

Speaker 1 (01:09:13):
So short of that, I can't imagine them putting a
salary cap on this. They probably should, but I can't
imagine anybody being able to have the governmental power to
tell these league commissioners and these college presidents that you're
gonna have a cap on this sort of collective, especially
because the money right now still ross isn't going through
the school, it's going from a lums to the players.

(01:09:35):
You're gonna tell Rich and Lums to not spend money? Yeah,
I don't think so.

Speaker 5 (01:09:38):
I don't think so either.

Speaker 2 (01:09:41):
What I do believe is I believe we're gonna have
an uncomfortable conversation about Lance mccullors.

Speaker 1 (01:09:47):
By the way, how are Boston and OKAC not winning
their series?

Speaker 2 (01:09:51):
I said, need now? Where I I could see Denver
still being in Oklahoma City?

Speaker 1 (01:09:54):
I really can't.

Speaker 2 (01:09:56):
It's now now. Did Denver look tired yesterday and look
worn out? And the thirty six hours between games certainly
didn't help. But they still have too much. They have
a lot of firepower. They really do. All you need
is one Michael Porter game, just jump out. Christian Brown
hits threes, two of them are nOkc Okayse's gonna win
the series.

Speaker 5 (01:10:16):
What about the Celtics, Jalen They Brown and Tata have
been horrible.

Speaker 1 (01:10:21):
Okay, I figured it could be two or three. Like
I said, But.

Speaker 2 (01:10:24):
I don't want the I don't want to have I
don't want to have the I don't want to have
that uncomfortable conversation because he's worked his ass to get back.
But if he continues to again, we're looking at a
very small sample size. But there's just a part of
me that says that sometimes these players, and I'm going
off a history ross of guys have taken two, three
years off, they just don't come back to where they were.

(01:10:46):
And if you if he can't give you links and
you're putting him out there every fifth day, that's going
to ultimately crush your bullpen.

Speaker 1 (01:10:54):
Yes, So that's what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (01:10:55):
There's a I'm worried that we're gonna haven uncomfable conversation.

Speaker 1 (01:10:59):
But with lam about Lance Colors. No, but you're saying
it's coming. This isn't worried about. Yeah, you said it
was coming. Okay, I'll say it's coming. They're always they're
always changing things up on the set.

Speaker 5 (01:11:12):
No, no, no, I'll stay with it.

Speaker 2 (01:11:13):
So congratulations, Jonathan, you finally got one two months and well,
and because it's a bad take, Oklahoma City is fine
in that series. They're ten and a half point favorites
at home. They're gonna be five and a half point
favorites on the road, and they're gonna be ten and
a half point favorites at home in a game seven.

Speaker 5 (01:11:26):
They're winning that series.

Speaker 2 (01:11:27):
Okay, that's one on two. And I said both Oklahoma
City and Boston. I said, that's all. Boston's gonna be
fine too.

Speaker 5 (01:11:33):
Do you think bosses can be fine?

Speaker 2 (01:11:34):
Okay, yeah, Celtics Celtics on the road in the Nicks.
What's the spread Celtics minus six and a half.

Speaker 5 (01:11:41):
They'll be fine.

Speaker 2 (01:11:42):
Okay, Well, weren't the Celtics favorite at home in those
two New York guess they were? They had twenty point leads.
They're gonna be fine. Okay, that could be wrong. Okay,
that's not your take. My take is both of them
are gonna be right.

Speaker 1 (01:11:53):
My take is I think I think both are in
a little bit of trouble.

Speaker 5 (01:11:57):
Not saying that they can't win, but I said, need.

Speaker 2 (01:12:00):
Not worry, and I'm saying I'd be worried. So technically
listen to me not telling you the truth.

Speaker 5 (01:12:06):
Whatever. There you go.

Speaker 1 (01:12:09):
You ever noticed, Jonathan and you haven't noticed, because you
will in this a couple months that whenever he losing this,
he always makes.

Speaker 2 (01:12:13):
You always have bad takes. It turn out to be
wrong on this segment. Huh uh, I'm out here.

Speaker 1 (01:12:19):
He's bruised. All right, He's taking a quick time outbe
a little longer than not necessary, not feeling well. Eleven
forty three is our time.

Speaker 2 (01:12:26):
The news at noon is coming up in fifteen short
minutes here on Sports Talk seven NAUTI seven one three
two one two five seven one. If you want to
jump in seven one three two one two five sevenini. Yes,
the NBA Draft lotteries tonight, we'll talk about that next
here on Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (01:12:43):
All right, tonight is the NBA Draft lottery. I will
be at Mini mad Park, so you hear me yelling
at about I don't know, yelling at about what. Uh No,
I think it's gonna be yelling about the Rockets getting
the number one overall draft pick. Oh, okay, screaming and yelping.

(01:13:04):
Four percent?

Speaker 5 (01:13:05):
What is it?

Speaker 2 (01:13:05):
Three point eight? I forget what is the exactly? They
can either be one through four or keep their nine ten.
They can actually drop a couple of spots too. They
can't be five through eight. Okay, three point eight percent chance?
Seventeen point three percent chance at the top four by interesting,

(01:13:32):
it's the lottery? Has it always been to fourteen? I
thought it was thirteen back in the day. No, it's
any team that has to make the playoffs. There's thirty
teen sixteen, it is fourteen.

Speaker 5 (01:13:40):
Well, I guess I'm dumb. Well I wouldn't say that,
thank you foolish? Maybe be not dumb?

Speaker 1 (01:13:45):
What a fool believe? Yeah, what a full believe in
the two?

Speaker 2 (01:13:47):
So uh, Elijah one's gonna represent the Rockets?

Speaker 5 (01:13:51):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (01:13:51):
Can we send Stevie Franchise back? Didn't he get the
number one pick? Well, you know Andrew has gone before. Okay,
who elses represent the Rockets over the years? I think
Katino Mobley, you mentioned Steve Elijah Onan.

Speaker 5 (01:14:05):
Has he done it more than once? I think Elijah's
done it before. I'm pretty sure, I'm ninety nine percent.

Speaker 2 (01:14:10):
So I'm gonna I'm gonna give you somebody that should
be kind of off the radar.

Speaker 5 (01:14:14):
Then, I think would kind of fit.

Speaker 1 (01:14:17):
Are they on tend to Sports Talk seven ninety?

Speaker 5 (01:14:20):
It might be? Is it rhyme with rat Ramis it might?

Speaker 2 (01:14:27):
I mean, look, I've been with the organization for ten years,
oh longer than that. Matt Thomas or achem Olajah one. Hmmm,
who should we send the lottery? The greatest block shot
sem Elija one, the block shot leader with like thirty
eight hundred and thirty blocks or something.

Speaker 1 (01:14:44):
Or a mid radio host and decent plupboup play.

Speaker 2 (01:14:47):
Guy mid day Matt Now mid okay, mid day, You're
not mid Matt.

Speaker 1 (01:14:51):
You're excellent. You're finishing by live. I like that, Thank
you very much.

Speaker 2 (01:14:59):
All right, Well we'll see what happens. What time is
it they do it before the games?

Speaker 5 (01:15:03):
Between?

Speaker 2 (01:15:04):
Is it between the games? I can't remember, I don't
I don't want the answer. Yeah, Celtics Knicks is six
thirty and then Timberwolves Warriors is nine, and I think, yeah,
I think do they do it between the games?

Speaker 1 (01:15:20):
And let's not let's not get a benefit.

Speaker 5 (01:15:21):
What just tonight?

Speaker 1 (01:15:22):
What time is the NBA? This is where I need
SERI to come through. Yeah, draft lottery, I want to
say it was This says seven pm? Is it independent
of the games?

Speaker 5 (01:15:31):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (01:15:32):
Well this seven a pm?

Speaker 5 (01:15:33):
No matter what?

Speaker 2 (01:15:33):
Yeah, six o'clock our time. So they'll do some before Okay,
they'll do some popping circumstance. Hi, how are you here
are the people? My Google says seven pm Central. Mine
says seven o'clock Eastern May twelve, twenty twenty. Google's I've
been ever since they added this Gemini AI thing. They
get stuff wrong. It feels like way more off the Yeah,
seven eastern is correct, Thanks Google. I showed it to

(01:15:55):
you jerks, trillion dollar company and they can't even get
a time zone.

Speaker 5 (01:16:01):
Right.

Speaker 2 (01:16:02):
Oh, I'm bothered by a I told you that already.

Speaker 1 (01:16:05):
Oh wait, it's the draft. Time is what I put?

Speaker 5 (01:16:08):
What time? NBA lottery and they put the draft? Sorry?

Speaker 4 (01:16:13):
Go ahead?

Speaker 1 (01:16:14):
Yeah, so they do it before of the games?

Speaker 2 (01:16:15):
Yes, okay, I want to say in the past, they
did in between I think maybe.

Speaker 5 (01:16:19):
Yeah, I think he's correct.

Speaker 1 (01:16:21):
That's not wrong.

Speaker 5 (01:16:22):
That's not wrong. So what was I gonna say? Oh?

Speaker 2 (01:16:27):
Uh, so ye do we need to send them? It's
kind of too late to send him a lucky charm?
But what will we send? We can't send anything. It's
up to the basketball gods. Hopefully they smile upon us.
They didn't let us pray for Victor. So Jonathan Fagan,
who used to cover the team with the Chronicle, told
me about what it was like, and then he was
on this book with a last year's matter of fact,
they take your phones so you can't report their results.

(01:16:52):
You watch the whole process go through. You can't go
to the bathroom, You can't leave when once you're in there,
you better make sure your blader's empty. That always wigs
me out about my life. Tell me I can't go
to the bathroom and I have to go to the
bathroom right away. Interesting, isn't that?

Speaker 5 (01:17:07):
Doesn't that always happen? Not to me?

Speaker 2 (01:17:10):
But when are you in a situation where they tell
you can't go to the bathroom. Well, you've been I've
been on I've been on planes before. They don't have bathrooms.
You have like puddle jumpers or right pedal jumpers. Yeah,
you should go out the side or what, No, you know,
nobody's going out the side. No, you go out the side,
you're probably gonna drop of a ten thousand feet chances
of survival will be a zero percent.

Speaker 1 (01:17:29):
Give you a folders can or nothing. I mean, I guess.

Speaker 2 (01:17:34):
I was on a plane, a commercial plane. It was
a puddle jumper, so so tiny that the air conditioning
for the plane was opening up the vents and the
air from the from the outside was was your cool air?

Speaker 1 (01:17:46):
Yeah. I flew one time from Fort Rodardale to Key West.

Speaker 2 (01:17:49):
I happened on the when I was on the bus
in Kansas City, the shuttle at the airport shuttle. It
was hot and then they were like, yeah, we just
put the windows down, Like what is wrong with you?

Speaker 5 (01:17:57):
People?

Speaker 1 (01:17:57):
Get some ac Kansas City? No thank you, no, thank you?

Speaker 5 (01:18:00):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (01:18:01):
So how this incorporates today? Giannis was told said a
couple of hours ago, at least as Sham's reported that
Shams sh running from ESPN that uh that uh, he's
willing to contemplate a life outside of Milwaukee.

Speaker 5 (01:18:15):
Mm hmmm uh.

Speaker 2 (01:18:17):
And there are obviously teams that came into play. San
Antonio was talked about a lot today in the morning
TV shows. Houston was talked about because of draft commodity.

Speaker 1 (01:18:26):
Also, things were talked about in terms of Brooklyn because
the Nets are trying to get some little cache back
in New York area.

Speaker 2 (01:18:35):
How many times have they failed to me that the
Clippers with the Paul Pierce Kevin Garnett, no thanks, they
went with the James Harden. They had James Harden, Kevin
Durant and Kyrie Irving on the same team and couldn't
get any tracks that didn't work out.

Speaker 5 (01:18:47):
That's crazy.

Speaker 2 (01:18:48):
Yeah, yeah, I mean the the Brooklyn Nets and the
Los Angeles Clippers will always have to fight being second tier.
I mean it will have to take a championship of
those teams in order for people to start thinking about
them otherwise and being the second squad in New York
A yeah, White Sox in Chicago New Orleans has talked
about as a potential spot. What Well, here's a thing
that was brought up yesterday on show Colt Sports Sunday.

(01:19:09):
I was watching, Okay, somebody brought up and said, hey,
if you give if the Rockets were to really pull
a trigger for you, honest and you gave him all
those parts, then Giannis to be trading one Saturday Nightmares
for the other not having a great surrounding cast behind him.
I'm gonna telling I should have saved this for to
tell the truth, but it would have been so painfully
obvious that you wouldn't know I was telling the truth
on this. You and I talked about this a few

(01:19:31):
weeks ago. I still and I know that you're gonna
be mad at me about this. Amen Thompson is untouchable
in any trade. I'm not mad at you, okay, So
make sure I understand that's reasonable. I think if you're
getting a if you're getting Devin Booker or Jannis, those
guys are better than Amen Thompson right now, now, Men,

(01:19:51):
Thompson has ceiling. He has a potential. He's only two
years in and he's been great. But if I told
you in five years from now, he's still not a
good three point shooter, and he he's gonna be like
he already finished fourth in Defensive Player of the Year,
like he's gonna be Defensive Player of the Year candidate,
first team All NBA. There are a dynamic NBA players
that are not eight three point shooters.

Speaker 5 (01:20:14):
One of them.

Speaker 2 (01:20:14):
But also he doesn't he doesn't have the wingspan of
Beannest he doesn't have the size of Giannis.

Speaker 1 (01:20:18):
He's not the down he Yannis.

Speaker 2 (01:20:20):
You're hoping, you're hoping that Amn Thompson is a defensive
Player of the Year. You're hoping that maybe it's I
don't know if you think he's got MVP candidate written
all over. I don't see that right now. It could happen.
I think he won't score enough to be an MVP.
kN but he right all defensive team Defensive player of
the year absolutely, Yiannis average thirty and twelve and he's

(01:20:40):
thirty points, twelve rebounds like six seven assists, and he's
Defensive Player of the Year candidate every year. Yeah, his ceiling,
he's already hit his ceiling. And to me, it's higher
than what a men can do. Okay, So I understand
what you're saying. And if it's gonna be part of
a package, it's not just gonna be a men. It's
probably one of Shangoun or Green as well, and and
a bunch of picks and probably guy good rotational. My

(01:21:01):
guess is Taris would be put out there on a chip.
I believe Jabari Smith would be put out there in
a chip because those two guys are a year away
from their new contracts. And I mean, and I'm not
saying I don't want those guys gone. I'm just saying that,
you again, trades have to hurt, and a mind has
great value as well. Because he's on a rookie deal,
You honest would be coming here making fifty whatever million dollars.

(01:21:22):
He's making real quick, Athletic reported today in a story
Kelly Eco and Sam Ameck I read it this morning,
coming into work, probably getting to work. That again, according
to them, doesn't mean it's a gospel that the Rockets
will not be pursuing a Devin Booker because they feel
like that they saw Devin Booker being the alpha this

(01:21:43):
past year and it didn't necessarily work out for Phoenix.
And they remain bullish on Jalen Green.

Speaker 1 (01:21:49):
Okay, that's good, Jaillen Green can get better. They would not, however,
dismiss Kevin Durant.

Speaker 2 (01:21:57):
Now, Durant's got one year left on a contract, right,
I know Jannis has got two million.

Speaker 1 (01:22:03):
I know Jannis has got two She gott you're you're
not gonna be married to him.

Speaker 2 (01:22:07):
For long term if it doesn't work out, make this
championship chase it doesn't work out, but Durance got I
think one year left.

Speaker 1 (01:22:16):
I'm trying hold on. It's taken a lot to scroll
through all of his accolades in career. I can't get
done in the contract. You're such a fan, you're such
a fan boy. You're like, no, I'm just serious.

Speaker 2 (01:22:25):
Forty seven million, Yeah, he's got he makes fifty four million. No,
this is two more years. Oh okay, I'm stupid. It's
twenty four, twenty six, one more year, fifty four point.

Speaker 1 (01:22:34):
Seven million dollars. Woo we did at the exact same time. Yeah,
it's like, uh, thank you for that. Fifty four point
seven million dollars.

Speaker 4 (01:22:44):
WHOA?

Speaker 5 (01:22:47):
What it?

Speaker 1 (01:22:47):
What's wrong with teams?

Speaker 2 (01:22:48):
I mean, I love these players, but when you sign
these guys for over forty five to fifty million dollars,
you are just opening up yourself up to a lot
of win or worst screw kind of conversation.

Speaker 1 (01:23:01):
Look look at the teams.

Speaker 2 (01:23:02):
Extra Kevin Durant's contract, not by himself, but when you
have him and Booker and Bill together have ruined the
Phoenix Suns. Yeah, but we knew that it was gonna
have that. That was the owner Mattasba. He went nuts.
But he just bought the team. And we didn't think
Milwaukee went nuts until all a sudden they paid me and
they're paying to me a little.

Speaker 1 (01:23:17):
Fifty million dollars a year. Yeah, but that made sense too.

Speaker 2 (01:23:19):
I mean they were trying to do something and trying
to I mean they ran into cap issues as well.

Speaker 1 (01:23:23):
But Matdashiba just went nuts. He was like, I'm gonna
I'm going to buy.

Speaker 2 (01:23:26):
He tried to buy a championship and he found out,
like Steven Cohen did in his first couple of years
of the Mets, it's not that easy.

Speaker 5 (01:23:34):
It may be just practical.

Speaker 2 (01:23:36):
Just be very careful who you're spending that insane amount
of money on, because these teams with multiple forty to
fifty million dollars players wind up hurting you wind up
unless you win it.

Speaker 5 (01:23:45):
All well, nobody held the gun to their heads.

Speaker 2 (01:23:48):
And if they're they're paying all that money Philadelphia, they're
paying all that money to the players because all the
money they're making. Golden State Warriors went well over the
cap and spent so much in the luxury a tax
over the last ten years.

Speaker 5 (01:23:57):
They don't regret a penny.

Speaker 2 (01:23:59):
It's true, all right, let's get the news at noon
coming in in a matter of moments if you want
to join our conversation seven one three two one two
five seven HOI the Astros with a very impressive win
yesterday did take even though Saturday's game sucked.

Speaker 1 (01:24:12):
They did take two out of three against the Reds.
That open up a series tonight with Canvas Any and
I will be on the on Deck show at two
o'clock today or at the six o'clock today.

Speaker 2 (01:24:20):
We got four I'm gonna say four and a half
hours of coverage.

Speaker 5 (01:24:24):
We have but two hours what to.

Speaker 2 (01:24:26):
Go on today's edition of the Matt Thomas Show at Ross.
We want you to be a part of the program.
If you went to Saturday's Astro game, we'll fill your
pain tickets, parking, beer, soda, popcorn, cotton candy, hot dog.
How much did you spend and how many people in

(01:24:48):
your conversation were knowing you about the fact that Hunter
Browns should have pitched the day before, day after that,
should have pitched two days in a row, two days
in a row. We had a caller say that his
wife was asked, if you went to Saturday's game, take
us through your night, because by the time you sat
down or comfortable in your chair.

Speaker 1 (01:25:04):
In the first half inning, your squad was down ten nothing.

Speaker 5 (01:25:07):
You know what they did for you.

Speaker 2 (01:25:08):
They came back and gave you her now Blanca on Sunday. Yeah,
it all worked out. A series win is a series win,
Yes he did. Let's get you the news at noon
twelve o five of Sports Talk and let's get to
the Randy McAboy of Sports Journal. Wow, what a compliment, man,
We're just dropping Channel two all over the place. Yeah,

(01:25:28):
I'm gonna get you.

Speaker 5 (01:25:29):
On one time last night. I assumed the check is
in the mail.

Speaker 1 (01:25:32):
Got them money, Yes, Matt, I'm glad you mentioned Reel Blanco.
What a start for him yesterday against the Cincinnati Reds.

Speaker 2 (01:25:41):
I meant to test this earlier. We'll see if it works.
I did restart my computer, Jonathan, Let's see if it works.

Speaker 11 (01:25:45):
Oh two, hey, going out on the pitch away, Yeah
he did, says had up back at first aspen all
strikes out as Reel Blanco premarre high eleven strikeouts over
eight shut out in as as give it up just
two hits and we head now to the bottom of
the eight.

Speaker 2 (01:26:05):
How about eleven strikeouts career high for Renald Blanco, Sean
Dubin doing his thing, so just the way you would
have scripted it out, a six to nothing shutout, and
matt Is Christian Walker waking up a couple of hits
for him three runs, bat it in Ianer Diaz with
a three run shot as well. Both those guys could
start producing him in a lineup. That would be huge. Look,

(01:26:27):
they're hanging around. The division is purely average. I feel
like we're repeating ourselves. All they need is a seven
out of ten and that'll be back in first place.

Speaker 1 (01:26:34):
It's crazy. Just somebody in this division do something. Yankees
went and beat the A's badly yesterday. They're gaining ground.
The division is purely average.

Speaker 2 (01:26:43):
Yeah, just last week I was talking about how good
the Mariners had been, looking at if they could keep
it up. Well, they lost three in a row. Only
two games back. Your Astros. We mentioned Lance mccullor's junior
getting shelled on this Saturday. Now we have to figure out,
with Hayden Wiznsky going down with elbow discomfort, what will
have been in the rotation. With the Astros still wanting
to stick with a six man. Here is Dana Brown

(01:27:05):
with the Ashros Radio Network yesterday talking about candidates for
that sixth spot in the rotation.

Speaker 14 (01:27:11):
Yeah, I'm in particularly Gordon could becoming get in the mix.
He's been throwing the ball well in triple A. Uh
you know Gusta of course, Uh, it's got a chance
to be really good. You know, we we've liked what
we've seen from him earlier on this season, and so
you know we're looking for him to really step it up,
particularly with the two.

Speaker 15 (01:27:30):
Guys being hurt right now. But look, we we we
really feel good about Gusta and good things. We didn't
have to use him yesterday or are big boys in
the back end, and so you know we're set up
pretty good for today.

Speaker 1 (01:27:48):
Who could be that six spot? Sounds like Colton Gordon.

Speaker 2 (01:27:51):
I just love the fact every time I listen to
Dana he makes me feel optimistic. A channel of Rome
pointing out over the week in Colton Gordon would be
on regular rest to pitch for the Astros Wednesday, So
I figured that would be your odds on a favorite.
Gusto is supposed to pitch tonight for the Houston Astros
on your Mound matchup, which you'll have for us later
on about six hours from now, Matt Thomas.

Speaker 1 (01:28:12):
Seriously, Mike, they have to climb overtime on this today.

Speaker 2 (01:28:15):
Oh like you, It's all right, geez, don't dissocate your shoulder,
patting yourself on the back, all right, Moving along on
the news at noon.

Speaker 1 (01:28:24):
Hear when's Watson Clinton's next on deck? Contenthening show? Uh,
you know what's something we didn't mention, Matt. We did mention.

Speaker 2 (01:28:29):
I'll get to some of the other stuff we have
mentioned later, but we haven't mentioned the opener for the
NFL season this year.

Speaker 5 (01:28:35):
Yes, please do.

Speaker 2 (01:28:36):
It is the Eagles hosting the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (01:28:41):
The Dallas Cowboys are opening up a season on national television.
Stop me, what would you say?

Speaker 2 (01:28:46):
The quote was from Chris Collinsworth was if they could
put the Cowboys on seventeen times a year, they would
do it. Yes, on Sunday Night Football on NBC. So
it will be on NBC Thursday night, September fourth. The
season opener will be the Eagles and the Cowboys. And
we always make fun of the Cowboys always being on,
but the ratings are always good. And this is a
classic NFL rivalry. It's a great rivalry. The Cowboys draw fly.

(01:29:08):
I mean, you can put the Cowboys against an XFL
team and they would draw. Yeah. I don't know how
or why. I think it's I think it's because people
who love them and then people who hate them want
to hate watch for a team that, by the way,
has not won a Super Bowl in thirty years, they
carry incredible national cachet. Speaking of which, Matt, I've been
the hate watching the Golden State Warriors. They take on
the Timberwolves at home. T Wolves minus five and a

(01:29:31):
half in this one, with Steph Curry still out. Also
in other playoff action, the Celtics and Knicks. That'll be
a six to thirty tip Celtics six and a half
point favors, and that one. Is it a must win
game for the Celtics down two to one in the series,
of course not Ross. You can't be a must win
until you have three losses.

Speaker 5 (01:29:50):
Ah, I love you your career.

Speaker 2 (01:29:52):
You know what that's that's very smart and sisive analysis, Matt.
I'm glad you would bring that to the tag.

Speaker 1 (01:29:56):
All learned it from the best well, of course, before
tonight's action at six o'clock our time, it will be
the end be a lottery Rockets hold a three point
eight percent chance to get Cooper Flag and the number
one pick seventeen point three percent chance to get into
the top four. My gut tells me, and this is

(01:30:17):
just because I'm playing the odds. I think the Rockets
gonna be right where they are at number nine.

Speaker 5 (01:30:20):
Yeah, which is my way pick.

Speaker 1 (01:30:24):
You know what I can I do have a gut feeling, please,
I got a top four jump feeling my gut this.

Speaker 2 (01:30:30):
Now, let me tell you some if a top four
jump comes into point, it does help when a're trying
to perhaps improve the team of the veteran player, whether
it be honest, whether it be Kevin Durant or somebody else. Yes,
top four seems really sexy by the way this draft,
and we will obviously get a look into a little
bit more when we get closer to the late j
your break down tip. Now, I'm not doing it right now, no,

(01:30:51):
but we'll have it. Somebody on that does, and they'll public.
From what I understand, this is a significantly better draft
this year than it was last year.

Speaker 1 (01:30:58):
Last year may have been one of the worst in
NBA hist.

Speaker 2 (01:31:01):
Okay, Matt one quick off the beaten pass story for
you online sports betting you know, has taken over the world. Apparently,
over forty million dollars was spent gambling on the identity
of who will be the next Pope? One winner, making
fifty two thousand dollars on the long shot Robert Prevost,

(01:31:24):
who became Pope Leo the fourteenth.

Speaker 5 (01:31:28):
Did you bet on the the Pope?

Speaker 3 (01:31:30):
No.

Speaker 2 (01:31:31):
I was looking for the smoke and I wanted to
being a brisket sandwich at BUCkies.

Speaker 1 (01:31:34):
I believe that Pietro Powellin was the favorite alongside Luis
Antonio Tadle. But of course Robert Privos was chosen. Forty
million dollars spent on betting on who the next Pope
would be.

Speaker 2 (01:31:45):
And Pope Leo averaged four points a game on the
eighty five National Championship team.

Speaker 1 (01:31:49):
That's not true that he was now. He was at
He graduated in seventy seven.

Speaker 5 (01:31:53):
Oh all right, real.

Speaker 2 (01:31:55):
Quick, let's turn to music off here Jon. Then I
sent you a SoundBite. This is from the game yesterday.
Ellie Elie de la Cruz got called out on strikes yesterday.

Speaker 1 (01:32:08):
CB Butckner was behind the plane.

Speaker 2 (01:32:10):
It was a bad call and c B Butckner's probably
pound for pound your wars umpire not named Angel Hornandez
and Angels retired. So I have a SoundBite here from
I believe the Red's TV crew now Gavin Locks is
their second baseman.

Speaker 5 (01:32:22):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 2 (01:32:23):
Apparently he says something in the background, so if he
winds up swearing, we need to hit the delay button
because I've not heard it myself. Jesus, but Jonathan, go
ahead and play this sound bite of this is this
is Red's TV with Ellie de la Cruz being called
out on strikes to.

Speaker 5 (01:32:36):
Two called struck three.

Speaker 2 (01:32:41):
That's a bull c B Buckner U bulls and strikes
Blancos strikes out beside. Okay, there was so we were
safe on that. Yeah, I'm ping folks ain't getting any better.

(01:33:02):
That was a horrible call. By the way, challenge just
means getting ino place like tomorrow. I got a crazy idea.
Shut up twelve fourteen your crazy ideas. It's gonnamn stare
at Michihiiti or whatever.

Speaker 1 (01:33:14):
What if you could get every call right, would they
be crazy? Well, I mean it'd be nice, but that's
never gonna happen. So nope, by the way, put my
name on it.

Speaker 2 (01:33:22):
We're never getting every pitched ball striking never ever, ever, ever, ever,
ever ever.

Speaker 5 (01:33:28):
Only a fool speaks in absolutes. Oh so what is it?

Speaker 1 (01:33:30):
Only a sith speaks in absolutes? Okay, ever ever put.

Speaker 5 (01:33:33):
My name on it.

Speaker 2 (01:33:35):
I'm writing down good seven one three two. We'll get
the challenges them though right away. I think it'll come

on Sports Talk seven, What are you laughing over there?

Speaker 5 (01:35:07):
For nothing?

Speaker 2 (01:35:09):
It's the things I didn't say but you were thinking.
All right, So the Astros won two out of three. Yes,
that's all you can ask for. I'm telling you, maybe
this team just won't give a streaks. They will long
losing or long winnings. Say, well, it's gonna take the
batting now. First of all, thing's got a spencer, are
gedty is probably gonna well hopefully. I think June is
the earliest we've been talking talked about for him coming

(01:35:31):
out terrible injury. For that to begond, that just terrible
for him to fracture his throwing hand, So hopefully he
can be back, and then of course he's gonna have
to build back up and do rehab and all that.

Speaker 5 (01:35:41):
So I think.

Speaker 1 (01:35:43):
Lancemacolor Junior is a huge if. Obviously mm hmm, there's
no way around that after Saturday. But I still think
even if he doesn't turn work out, Ryan Gusto has
been good.

Speaker 2 (01:35:54):
You get Eric Gedty back and then you just get
a little bit of hitting. We're not asking like yesterday
six runs.

Speaker 1 (01:36:00):
Is that too much to ask for? Is that some
crazy thing like you just get it. You're just asking
for not to be under three runs. Brian mctagger tweeted
it out the other day. It's like their record when
they score above three runs, it's like, well, well, well
above five hundred. All they have to do with this
pitching in the way that it's been in the bullpen,
which has been nails, is just score some runs. So

(01:36:21):
I do believe they can.

Speaker 2 (01:36:22):
And as you mentioned, the Mariners on a three game
losing streak, So that's a good thing that the division
still isn't very good and then your hope is to
just get in the playoffs is around eighty five hopefully
close to ninety one team and then go from there.
Now things can change in the American League, but the
standings right now have in the Central you have three

(01:36:45):
teams that have better records than you do you've got
in the American League East, you have two teams at
a better record. So it feels like to me, not
that you can't squeeze a wild card out of this,
but in years past you've been able to at least
and not win the division when the wald card. It
feels like this is going to be a one playoff
team out of the America League West this year. Case
reason for that Astros are a game of a five hundred.

(01:37:08):
They're only two out of first place. It's a very
but how did we get so lucky? Texans AMC South,
so mid of a division. Astros in America League West
so mid of a division. Any sort of streak, and
probably my guess is Mariner Radio is doing the exact
same thing. There's no such thing as Athletics radio Ranger

(01:37:31):
radios talk about. Nobody's talking about that Arranger radio either.

Speaker 1 (01:37:36):
Talking about on Sacramento's Sports later today, the King the Lottery,
Doug Christy being named as a coach.

Speaker 2 (01:37:42):
Yeah, what about in a month Niners training camp. Okay,
they're big to Niners town big. It's it's nothing close
to San Francisco, but it's pretty. It's for a for
a city that doesn't have a team, it's really big,
kind of like San Antonio and the Cowboys. I never
listened to San Antonio sports radio, so I can't they

(01:38:03):
love the Cowboys in San Antonio. Oh, I don't doubt that.
But they've had training camps there before in the past.
But yeah, they're huge there. But I know I've asked
people that have worked in Sacramo. They talked Kings probably
nine months of the year comfortably. It's a one sport protown.
I mean, I kind of get it.

Speaker 5 (01:38:21):
Dearon Fox is Gone, they talking about zacly Bean. Well,
good thing.

Speaker 2 (01:38:30):
We're here in Houston talking about your astros taking two
out of three from the Royals. We have nice diversa.
We have the Texans and NFL schedule come out on
a Wednesday. I may take Thursday off just so I
can break it down multiple times. I'm so excited about it.
I got a key to victory for you tonight. Pray
whenever Bobby Junior comes to the plate, they can't get him.

(01:38:50):
They couldn't get him out last series they played.

Speaker 1 (01:38:53):
Yeah, they have going to Kansas City hasn't been their
friend of the last few years.

Speaker 2 (01:38:58):
I mean, and Bobby WIT's a PHOENI obviously right. And
Kansasity is one of those teams fighting for the American
League Central, aren't they. Let me take a look. Yeah,
Kansas City's they're two and a half out of first place.
Detroit still in first place, the Detroit Tigers aj Hinches
Detroit Tigers ROSSI have the best record in the American
League and they have the third best record in Major

(01:39:23):
League Baseball. There are eleven games above five hundred, and
they are crushing the Yankees because they're only the Yankees
are only six over five hundred. Is that because they're
just missing Garrett Cole that much?

Speaker 5 (01:39:33):
Is that the reason why?

Speaker 1 (01:39:35):
Yeah, for Pete's sakes, it's been tough for them. Aaron
Judge is hitting four hundred and hit a home run
every other plate appearance, and then they're still twenty three
and seventeen.

Speaker 2 (01:39:44):
By the way, did you see over the weekend the
rumor mail is out about another formarass We're talking about Boston,
obviously bregnant conversation.

Speaker 1 (01:39:51):
There is a team that is whispering out there.

Speaker 2 (01:39:54):
We will kick the tires on making sure Kyle Tucker's
financial dreams come true.

Speaker 1 (01:39:59):
Did you see who that team?

Speaker 8 (01:39:59):
Wan?

Speaker 1 (01:40:00):
I did not the Los Angeles Dodgers. Are you serious?

Speaker 2 (01:40:07):
I mean, I could make it up, but I'm not. Man,
know what's it gonna defer another billion dollars?

Speaker 1 (01:40:16):
How are they getting everybody if Kyle Tucker want to
be investigated? No, this needs to stop. This is ridiculous.
But I'm skirming little Jeff Passing. I think they're doing
it right. Any other team can do exactly what the
Dodgers get that damned medium's coat off. Actually, grown ass man,

(01:40:40):
this is terrible. What I do need Kyle Tucker to
do is wherever he signs ross, you need to make
sure it's in the National League. I don't want to
see him multiple times this season.

Speaker 2 (01:40:48):
Well yeah, well, I mean there's also you can make
the World Series and then Dodgers can carve your face
in with a super team.

Speaker 5 (01:41:00):
Who plays right.

Speaker 2 (01:41:00):
I don't even know who plays right fell of the
Dodgers right now. That doesn't matter, It doesn't matter. But
if they seriously get him, don't even play the season.
But I'm little Jeff passing. I wear women's underwear, and
I think that, But and then I think that the
Dodgers are doing it right, and everybody was taking a
lesson from them. Jeez, Matt, maybe he doesn't. Maybe he

(01:41:25):
doesn't wear women's underwear. I just said maybe.

Speaker 1 (01:41:31):
I'm not responding to any My name is Ross.

Speaker 5 (01:41:34):
I didn't.

Speaker 1 (01:41:34):
I don't have anything to do with anything. Matt just
said the last thirty I heard what Ross said about
other people earlier today. What I didn't say anything. You
were talking about Lance mccullors and all that stuff. Throw
me under the bus for no reason whatsoever.

Speaker 4 (01:41:50):
You know what that was?

Speaker 2 (01:41:51):
Andy PAHs has been playing right field for the Dodgers.
He's it in two eighty six or six homers, eight opus,
eight hundred. Okay, still replaceable, Yeah, Wild Tucker, very much replaceable.

Speaker 5 (01:42:03):
All right?

Speaker 2 (01:42:03):
Seven one three, two one two five seven day We
asked a question the very early portion of the show
today worthy of repeating, Uh, if you went to Saturday's
game and you sat down, were you there at first pitch?
And if you did get there late, when did you
sit down? And what was the score when you sat down?

(01:42:24):
And how much of that money did you realize when
you were eating that hot dog you were never going
to get back? Can you scratch your nose? And they
were down ten to nothing?

Speaker 1 (01:42:31):
I'm trying to think if it's ever happened to me.
I've been in the games where they've been down like
six or seven, of course, never ten.

Speaker 5 (01:42:37):
I mean it was the worst.

Speaker 2 (01:42:38):
Didn't they say it was the worst first inning since
the eighties or something like that. I have been to
Texans games they've been down fourteen nothing quickly. But that's
not that's not you can overcome that. Oh yeah, if
you were there in the David coley E rah that
was every week?

Speaker 5 (01:42:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:42:53):
I mean if you went to a wild card game
with three thirty you had a kickoff return for tesshow
you were used to that?

Speaker 3 (01:42:58):
Right?

Speaker 5 (01:42:59):
Wasn't there one?

Speaker 1 (01:43:00):
Weren't we at a bar where there was a kickoff return?

Speaker 5 (01:43:02):
Think?

Speaker 3 (01:43:03):
So?

Speaker 1 (01:43:04):
Oh that was the Saints Monday Night?

Speaker 5 (01:43:06):
Was that the No?

Speaker 1 (01:43:07):
No, this was like a wild card game I was
with up with my family.

Speaker 2 (01:43:11):
We sat and say they played somebody and the team
returned to kickoff for a touchdown.

Speaker 1 (01:43:14):
I thought, yeah, I think you're right. I can't recall
when that was. No, you just I'm not a Texans expert.
We'll get call Adam Lexer. Where's whax tic can tell
us of this?

Speaker 3 (01:43:23):
You know?

Speaker 2 (01:43:23):
You all these wild car losses kind of get they do,
and they mix up a little bit there for you
seven one three two one two five seven ninety seven
one three two one two five seven ninety Some details
of the NFL's International Games Opening week.

Speaker 1 (01:43:37):
Games are slowly trickling out. I don't get into schedule
talk like others.

Speaker 2 (01:43:45):
I guess, oh yeah, breaking down the schedule. Don't people
do mock schedules? Hey, why don't you come to my
YouTube show and tell me how many national games the
Textans are going to get. I have seen people do
mock schedules, which to me is the biggest waste of
time in the sistory of sports media.

Speaker 1 (01:43:59):
That is absolutely ar Why would you mock schedule?

Speaker 2 (01:44:03):
I mean, do you have nothing going on in your life?
Do you not know what it's like to touch a woman?
If you do a mox cheduterer. You do have no
idea what that You have no life, you have no friends,
no one likes you, and you're not touching a woman
or a man for that matter.

Speaker 5 (01:44:16):
H We're not here to judge.

Speaker 1 (01:44:19):
Oh I am If you're mock scheduling, you're a loser.

Speaker 5 (01:44:26):
You don't have to say a thing. I got nothing.

Speaker 1 (01:44:29):
Let me tell you something. I do a lot of
things that are making me a loser.

Speaker 8 (01:44:31):
I'm not.

Speaker 1 (01:44:31):
I'm just I'm just putting myself in a different category
of being a loser.

Speaker 5 (01:44:34):
You're a different loser. You're a winning loser.

Speaker 2 (01:44:36):
Oh my god, I watched sports and soap operas. That
makes me a loser. I fully understand this. But I
like I like music prior to nineteen eighty. I mean,
that makes me a loser.

Speaker 5 (01:44:45):
It just does. I get it.

Speaker 8 (01:44:46):
You know what.

Speaker 5 (01:44:47):
I thought of you some song. But at least I
admit it.

Speaker 1 (01:44:50):
That's the thing is other people don't admit it.

Speaker 5 (01:44:54):
You're not.

Speaker 2 (01:44:55):
Randomly, some America song came on and it was kind
of a jam, and I thought of you. You should
have because jam. I think it was ten Man, Oh,
Tim Man's a good one. I was like This is
a Matt Thomas song, but it's kind of a jam.

Speaker 1 (01:45:05):
It wasn't bad. Matter of fact, we're gonna hear some
tim Man when we come back.

Speaker 2 (01:45:09):
Seven one three two one two five seven Dowty seven
one three two one two five seven nine zero.

Speaker 1 (01:45:16):
We will give you the text and schedule based off
of the schedule.

Speaker 5 (01:45:18):
Oh we got to run through through.

Speaker 1 (01:45:20):
Yeah, it's a classic. It's a bit for ten ten
plus years.

Speaker 8 (01:45:23):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 2 (01:45:24):
All right, I got any text from a friend of mine,
and you can choose not to answer this. This is
directly strictly to you.

Speaker 5 (01:45:31):
Oh really, h.

Speaker 1 (01:45:34):
It says, so Ross is okay the Dodgers. He's upset
the Dodgers by everyone, but he's not upset about NL
big teams buying best players.

Speaker 2 (01:45:45):
Explain what Yeah, okay, well let's let's uh. I'm talking
about the Dodgers deferring all this money. And that's a loophole.
So they're they're paying, they're deferring sixty eight million dollars
of show Hail Tani's seventy million dollar salary. So you're
upset with a deferment, they can spend all their money
they want. I think the loophole with the and being

(01:46:07):
able to outspend other owners because they're getting other people
to agree to deferments.

Speaker 1 (01:46:11):
It's helping them out. And yeah, it's unfair.

Speaker 2 (01:46:13):
Anyways, there should be a hard cap in baseball, if
you ask me, because it's a professional league. But also
I'm okay with not being what with a staying free market,
but in a competitive league you want balance, don't want
I get that argument in college sports.

Speaker 1 (01:46:29):
So you I'm not trying about org. I'm not trying
to argue.

Speaker 3 (01:46:31):
Hear you there?

Speaker 2 (01:46:32):
Okay, so you don't believe that colleges are a competitive league. No, okay,
well they shouldn't be, but that's what they I guess
that's what they have been. But also, yeah, I'm not
mad at shoe Otani for sign all that money. I
just think this this loophole deferment stuff where they have
mookie bets deferring money. Otani's deferring money, who else a
bunch of other people. They've got almost a billion dollars deferred.

(01:46:55):
And because what happens is if if that's seventy million
dollars that that Shoeotani was getting defer stayed on the
books as a full salary towards the luxury tax threshold.
I would have no issue with it. The problem is
when he defers all that money, they get a discount.
I don't remember how much the discount is. It's not full.
But if you're skirting the system, it's a loophole that

(01:47:17):
they need to close, in my opinion, to where they
get to pay everybody just because they defer money. I
think deferments is absolutely criminal, and that if you're going
to sign somebody and you're willing to pay the tax
threshold because of that, then pay it. Then just say
all right, we're gonna go well over the cap or
whatever our competitive balance is, and we'll pay the fine

(01:47:37):
for it. And we're wanting to take on that penalty
because we think overspending is still gonna help us win
a championship.

Speaker 1 (01:47:44):
So that's what I would do.

Speaker 2 (01:47:45):
Would I don't begrudge the Yankees in New York and
the Mets outs overspending, but punish them by doing that,
making sure there's a tax that goes towards other teams.
They get them hopefully closer to what those other teams
are spending. But yeah, the deferment is just a it's
a layaway process, and I just think it's yeah, And
it's a different animal than a professional league where everybody
has the same TV contract.

Speaker 1 (01:48:06):
Everybody gets that. It's like one league that all the
owners vote and.

Speaker 2 (01:48:12):
Get together and they collectively bargain with the players and
all that type of stuff. That's why I like a
hardcap league, and it would be totally different with the college.
Now me, you can't expect Kansas Jayhawks football to invest
and spend and bring the same amount of stuff to
the table that Texas football or Georgia or whoever would.
Now I know, and you and I have discussed this
for many years on this. It's the same ten teams
every year, essentially Ohio State, Texas, Georgia, LSU, Alabama, Notre Dame.

(01:48:37):
And your evidence is well on your side for that.
But I don't mind once in a while Kansas football
running the table. I don't mind one if UNLV was
to make a magical year or Boise State or Boise.

Speaker 1 (01:48:51):
State was in the playoff they were a top three seed.

Speaker 2 (01:48:53):
But I think this the nil lack of regulation is
never going to give it one of those ones in
a while.

Speaker 5 (01:49:01):
I think it.

Speaker 2 (01:49:02):
It definitely to me, makes it harder because and I'm
not trying to be carry carry the flag for the
small teams like Monroe is not gonna do anything, uh
your Arkansas States, you'll.

Speaker 1 (01:49:15):
It doesn't drive zeroship. You're not gonna know about it.
You're you're less likely.

Speaker 2 (01:49:18):
I'm less likely to watch a big game if it's Lewis,
like you said, Louisiana Monroe or Boise State or whatever.
What's what's gonna get more ratings and revenue and interest.
It's gonna be Ohio State versus Georgia over you know,
Arizona State versus Boise State. That's just the fact of
the matter. But Arizona State was in the playoff, they
had a shot. They should have won that game against Texas.
They choked it. And and Boise State was in the

(01:49:39):
playoffs as well, so they're they're getting in in the game.
But I I do think the thing that makes it
harder now is the transfer portal for sure, to where
if you're a really good player on Arizona State or
or a smaller school and you have a good season,
you're in the portal and you're trying to go to Georgia.
You're trying to go to like uh Texas last year,
added Sie Rusher from UTSA let me, let me give

(01:50:01):
you a and it's most simplistic form. We gotta get
to ponder here in a second. I am a football
coach that took a chance on a kid that was
not getting recruited by high end scots. Yes, I am
a coach at say, let's throw a small division ball state.
And I saw this wide receiver who may have had

(01:50:22):
some issues in high school. The grades weren't great, attitude
wasn't spectacular, Maybe he had a little petty theft in
his life.

Speaker 5 (01:50:28):
Yeah, but I said, you know what I'm gonna ge.

Speaker 2 (01:50:30):
I'm gonna take a chance on this kid because I
think he's gonna have me win some football games. And
I think he's gonna I can put him under my
program and he goes there and he kicks, but he
catches fifteen touchdowns, has a thousand yards in receiving. I
should be rewarded by that I took a chance in
a kid. What is that kid gonna do? Nine times
out of ten, He's gonna enter the portal and go
somewhere else bigger. And that in itself is a fundamental

(01:50:53):
problem I have with it.

Speaker 1 (01:50:54):
That doesn't to do with that. Now that's just transferred.

Speaker 2 (01:50:56):
Well, you are, if you're a good coach who's finding
all these good players in these in the rough, you're
probably gonna have you're gonna be successful, and then you're
going to You're going to go from UTSA to Texas
to LSU to Oklahoma or whatever, so you have a
chance to move up too.

Speaker 1 (01:51:10):
So basically we have to understand is this.

Speaker 2 (01:51:11):
If you're a ball state, or you're anybody in the
MAC or the Mountain West or any what else is there,
you've got no shot. Just like the before system, you've
got no shot. You you have a tough time keeping
coaches and a tough time keeping player. The last who's
the last mid major to win a college football playoff
or or BCS or to our champions Shaplahoma many years ago?

(01:51:33):
Yeah it was in a Yeah that wasn't for a championship. No,
I have a crazy crackpot idea for you. European soccer,
If if I have a they have their academies where
they get players in when they're like seven eight years old,
and they cultivate this talent and they put them on
their team and whatever say, I'm the smaller team and
I found this diamond in the rough and it turns

(01:51:54):
out they're a world class player. If you want him,
you have to pay me. You have to pay a
transfer fee that goes into my pocket that I can
reinvest into player development and stuff like that. What if
a player went from UTSA to Texas and Texas had
to pay a little bit of money, some of that
nil money had to go to the UTSA and some
kind of fund where Yeah, I know nobody. That's why

(01:52:15):
I said it's a crack ni President Trump, what do
you think about that? As an idea though? To where
the smaller school that is losing the player that developed them.
Like you said, you took a chance, you developed them.
They hold their skills and the European soccer, well not
even soccer everywhere where you have to pay if you
want that player. You they have to pay their salary,
and they have to pay their agent fees, and they
have to pay the team that they get them.

Speaker 1 (01:52:36):
You have a little bit of that right now. Guess
what you have buyouts?

Speaker 2 (01:52:39):
Yeah, if somebody wants to come by a player out,
what about NILST excuse me, yeah, coach out.

Speaker 1 (01:52:45):
You got to buy out the contract and that money
goes to the school. Again, there's no way to enforce this.
This is kind of fantasy land.

Speaker 2 (01:52:49):
But I think, I absolutely think that the small school
who discovered and took a chance on that player should
get something somehow.

Speaker 1 (01:52:56):
Ponder and Banktown wants to talk about uhout.

Speaker 2 (01:52:59):
Oh he went to the Astros game on Saturday. How
did your experience go? I think we know the answer. Proindu,
We'll get to you in a minute. Seven one three
two one two five seven ninety seven one three two

Speaker 5 (01:53:13):

Speaker 1 (01:53:13):
Follow me on Instagram, Ross got three new people on
Instagram today?

Speaker 8 (01:53:17):

pictures of like volleyball stuff, that's fine. Now I need
seven new Instagram followers. Oh my god, just seven, just

(01:53:39):
seven seven people. Listen to me right now.

Speaker 1 (01:53:42):
I If I don't get seven new Instagram followers, I'll
know that we've got less than seven.

Speaker 2 (01:53:45):
People listening, and I'll hurt my feelings a little bit.
At sports Empt on Instagram twelve forty three on seven,
I just want to say I love you, thank you
for following on Instagram's sports Empt.

Speaker 5 (01:54:00):

all of you back, Matt probably didn't. Damn you call
me out like that. So I'm more of a man
of the people.

at sports mt on IG, let's go and I'll follow
you back.

Speaker 5 (01:54:41):
Oh my god, you're you're great.

Speaker 1 (01:54:45):
I just I've uh look at this count, man, I'm
about hit twenty six hundred here pretty soon pissed.

Speaker 2 (01:54:50):
I'm really pissed. Is instant we were talking about during
the break? Is Instagram becoming the new Twitter?

Speaker 5 (01:54:55):
Promise?

Speaker 2 (01:54:56):
Twitter is information for the most part, It's rapid and
information and sports news. Yeah, but I would say yeah,
if I just had to guess, there's way more people
on Instagram. Yeah, all right, A couple quick one quick thing,
uh report today out of NBA Central, not NBA Sentel.
That's the fake account. And don't I don't fall for that.

(01:55:17):
I blocked that account. I don't want to get caught
that Joannis.

Speaker 1 (01:55:20):
Is perhaps interested in a team that has plays in
estate with no uh stand com text. Look, I'm putting
us on our story Matt on Instagram.

Speaker 5 (01:55:27):
Let's go. God, I'm handsome. I got to block some
of this out.

Speaker 2 (01:55:31):
By the way, nice job by you getting that beard
all trimmed up. Thank you all took us you getting
on TV. Yeah, well it wasn't mine.

Speaker 1 (01:55:38):
Just correct.

Speaker 5 (01:55:38):
Oh somebody told you to get a did mom tell
you to?

Speaker 1 (01:55:40):
Mom paid for it. She got me a straight razor.
Appreciate your mama?

Speaker 2 (01:55:45):
What your mom is the second greatest mom. No, she's
the greatest mind. Mine's the Greatest's not even close. You know,
I'm spend all Astros game men in Mad Park going
to people's Facebook posting your mom's kind of cool and everything,
But my mom's been butt.

Speaker 1 (01:56:00):
I stick a tongue out, that'd be weird. I'm saying's
the best. You know that's that's not true, sir. I'm
putting this on my Instagram story now at sports Survey.

Speaker 5 (01:56:09):
I wouldn't do that. Ponder.

Speaker 1 (01:56:11):
Thanks for waiting. Ponder what you been pondering? Oh man, uh,
I never heard that one before that.

Speaker 2 (01:56:18):
That was the worst dad joke I've given in quite
some time. And for that, ponder, I do apologize.

Speaker 1 (01:56:23):
Hey, it's okay.

Speaker 5 (01:56:23):
I got four daughters.

Speaker 1 (01:56:24):
I'm the king of bad dad jokes.

Speaker 16 (01:56:26):
Hey uh uh, y'all had a couple of other topics too.
I wanted to jump in on and and I will
tell you before I get to the Astros game.

Speaker 5 (01:56:37):
Is uh you know I have a daughter that she
is a sophomore.

Speaker 17 (01:56:40):
She'll be a sophomore this next year, and we're already
getting letters and stuff and talked.

Speaker 1 (01:56:45):
To by some of the smaller colleges.

Speaker 17 (01:56:47):
And y'all mentioned a school and your examples with UTSA
which is a target school that in Sam Houston is
a target school for us. And uh, long story short,
you know, that's kind of where we're at. And because
I do, I do head coach to high end select
softball organizations in the Houston area and we we focus
on the sixteen and eighteen you girls, because recruitments right

(01:57:09):
around the quarner and and we play a lot of
showcase things and a lot of these colleges are there,
and so you you do a lot of talking with
these college coaches on how all of this truly works
or a sport that's not nearly as high high scale
as a football, but but it's it's the money that
these kids stand to make. And and Ross, I love
your point on the on the tax of or doing

(01:57:31):
doing some kind of transferral reward to these players that
find these kids. And they're small schools like a Sam Houston,
like a UTSA. They're I won't say that we're praying,
but they're trying to get these kids to honor their
commitment early and they do get good players because of it,
but now it's impossible for them to keep them. And

(01:57:52):
and as a dad of a player who may have
that potential, for d one. I tell her, I say, hey,
you you know, there is no level of commit It's
all about money, you know. And that's hard for me
because I'm all about team commitment and I grew up
with the Vigio and Bagwell era and all that stuff.
And long story short, I just at the end of
the day, you got to go where the money stay

(01:58:13):
sh because you might there is nothing else for you.
And for these football players, they may there may not
be a professional career for them. So I don't I understand,
but they should have something to stop all this transferring
or we're just going to be watching the same big
dogs play with all the best players all across.

Speaker 5 (01:58:30):
But yeah, sir, now, as I.

Speaker 2 (01:58:32):
Say, but that's been the problem, is Ponnard. We've been
watching the same big big dogs for thirty years. I mean,
even though you've got some smaller schools, and we'll just
use football as an example, Boise State's been relevant lately.
You've had Northern only one year, you had Utah before
they joined the pack, the Big twelve in the Pac twelve.
But generally speaking, the big dogs are the ones that
are around every year that the big dogs that are

(01:58:54):
filling up stadiums are the big dogs that fell at
the television contracts, and ESPN and ABC and NBC aren't
paying significantly large amounts of money to watch the Battle
wolf Pack football. They're doing it because they want to
grab Notre Dame and Georgia and LSU and in Alabama.

Speaker 1 (01:59:07):
That's that's how it goes, agreed.

Speaker 17 (01:59:09):
But but where I disagree with you on And of
course you've got that Notre Dame lifelong contract with all
the with with all.

Speaker 5 (01:59:14):
The incentives that come with it.

Speaker 17 (01:59:16):
But here here's where destination I believe will will end
up taking a front seat to this where University of
Miami may and I know cam Ward's in there this
year and all that stuff, but they're going to be
relevant again, I mean relevant to the point back in
the nineties when they were powerhouses.

Speaker 5 (01:59:33):
I think cal U, c l A, schools like that
that have.

Speaker 17 (01:59:37):
Been on the back burner. I think they will be
able to pay these players. And and let's let's let's
take like an Iowah Hawkeye or or a Penn State.
All right, what kid wants to go to Penn State
when they go to you very city in Miami or
go to California so so I know as early as
all this is, and I could be dead wrong on this,
but I truly believe we will see a change in

(01:59:59):
the quality teams. We may still see all those teams
up there competing, but I do think we'll have additional teams.

Speaker 1 (02:00:07):
Is it ever gonna be University of Louisia Monroe, No,
it's not.

Speaker 4 (02:00:10):
Is it gonna be Team Houston.

Speaker 17 (02:00:11):
Is it gonna be Utstate, No it's not. But I
think those schools can get rewarded and give kids the
opportunity to be better, to be better paid, and be
better sports or be better athletes. And they're gonna train hard,
they're gonna try to make that money.

Speaker 5 (02:00:24):
They're gonna do it at an earlier age.

Speaker 17 (02:00:26):
But that's that's my opinion on that is where we
will see more teams be more competitive within that top
tier of players, just because our top tier of schools,
just because players are gonna want to go to some
of these destinations and you're gonna stop seeing Arizona States
and you're gonna, you know, as as the schools that
kind of snuck their way in there and kind of
we're sleepers and things like that. That's gonna all go away,

(02:00:47):
and you're gonna have coastal teams, whether it's West, East, southeast, whatever.
Those destination schools I believe will become relevant because.

Speaker 1 (02:00:57):
Who doesn't want to go there versus on Iowa or
a Penn state or something like that.

Speaker 5 (02:01:02):
But yeah, they did.

Speaker 2 (02:01:04):
Yeah they have limited I mean, they only have a
certain amount of scholarships they can give out. And I'll
give you an example. And Oregon is on the coast,
but there's not a whole lot of cachet in Oregon.
But Phil Knight is forking off a bunch of money
and Oregon is getting built up. This guy over at
Texas Tech you mentioned Matt Now you know, haven't seen
any dividends paid for that. But that's the thing is too,
is this this and il thing we said before you
had no shot. Now I mean you have a shot.

(02:01:25):
You just got to cut the check. You just got
to put put the money up there. And Phil Knight
did that. Oregon hasn't been a national powerhouse until Phil
Knight got involved with the with the program. And now
it's just accepted that there are going to be a
college football playoff contender, as in getting into the top twelve.
Every single year because of what he's done in his contributions.

Speaker 1 (02:01:44):
Well, and in your conference. In your conference will matter too.

Speaker 17 (02:01:47):
And I think one of the biggest killers for college
sports more than this ni on and transfer portal and
all these things, and then taking away some of the
penalties for the transfer because I believe they used to
have a you had to set out a year after
you trans for corrects you're right, And so they've taken
some of that stuff out and now what they calls
the Power four now instead of the Power five. Right,

(02:02:08):
they're completely they're grading these conferences. That what made college
football so exciting. And I think the base thing why
people hate this so much, and I and I agree
with it. It is what it is, and there's nothing
you can do about it, so you can either go
along or get out of the way. But it is
one of those things where I love the competition. These
kids are trying, you know, they're getting a free education.

(02:02:29):
That's how they're getting paid. They are trying to make
a name for themselves to go get paid. And it's
why college football forever until fantasy football, you know, I mean,
I know the NFL has been huge, but I can
tell you as much as I love watching football. Give
me a give me a good college matchup over a
professional matchup all day long, and yeah that's just me.

Speaker 1 (02:02:50):
Yeah, Pina, I got a roll on that.

Speaker 5 (02:02:52):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (02:02:52):
Unfortunately you're probably in not probably, you are in the minority.
NFL football rando. Jacksonville Sinsanna game is going to outdraw
even a top ten college football match.

Speaker 1 (02:03:01):
There are a lot of people with it. Field, more
coarantry and all that. Yeah of college.

Speaker 5 (02:03:05):
Yeah, pageantry of colleges is unsurpassed.

Speaker 2 (02:03:07):
I will also say this. They tried to institute a
rule where you only get one free pass in the
transfer portal. Then your second transfer you do have to
sit out. I want a time it's not time out
time in. It's because of COVID. Why it is not
a thing anymore?

Speaker 5 (02:03:17):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (02:03:18):
Oh not is that when it started?

Speaker 5 (02:03:20):
Then sitting up? I joined college? Why I when I
had been twenty twenty. It's because of the COVID wide
I took the band out of a different conferences.

Speaker 1 (02:03:26):
But also they also have to treat you like students.

Speaker 2 (02:03:28):
If I'm a student and I'm going to you know, HCC,
and my grades are really good and I get into Rice,
I don't have to sit out a year, right, if
I'm going to some other college and you want to transfer,
I mean so I kind of get it. I understand
why people don't want that and they want to out
sit out year so that people can't just free transfer
every single year. But if we're selling that they're student

(02:03:50):
athletes and a student can transfer schools every year without
sitting out.

Speaker 1 (02:03:54):
I get that argument too.

Speaker 2 (02:03:55):
And Darry, if you're in biology manager, you want to
go to four different schools, yeah, you can get the schools.

Speaker 1 (02:04:00):
Yeah that Thomas want to come home from your North Texas.
You didn't have to sit out of here.

Speaker 2 (02:04:05):
No, I didn't went back then. I went to the
Harvard of Southeast Texas. Look look how it turned out.

Speaker 5 (02:04:09):
Are transfer?

Speaker 1 (02:04:12):
What are you gonna your daughter transfer? I talked too fast? Yeah,
I can't.

Speaker 5 (02:04:16):
Are you gonna.

Speaker 1 (02:04:18):
Let your daughter transfer? I'm gonna let your daughter transfer?
Whoa man, you're on hyper speed right there, John.

Speaker 5 (02:04:23):
It was a quick question. She didn't even she had
been way to run on yet. What am I I
just wanted to ask you, you very opinion. I just
want to know the place.

Speaker 1 (02:04:30):
She's like, Oh, that's up, that's up to her. I
mean I'm not I'm not consult I'm not against transferring.
I mean, if she's if she misses home or there's
a coaching change or something like that.

Speaker 2 (02:04:39):
You know, I can't control with how she feels. But
she right now, it's funny you bring that up and
I got ten seconds here she is like, Dad, I'm
not transferring. NBA Draft Lottery tonight Astros open up a
series with the hated Kansas City Royals. There are four
team members of the NBA media that are in the

(02:05:01):
lottery drawing room. Why I need to be there? They're
all newspaper guys. Somebody looks these people. Anyway, What do
you want to be there for?

Speaker 5 (02:05:07):
You go fall asleep. There's nothing to see. I want.

Speaker 1 (02:05:09):
I kind of want to be there for that. I
mean behind the scenes stuff. Okay, oh well, you're busy.
You're on Astros on deck. I am putting in a
I mean, my day started. I left the house at
eight thirty. I won't be done U till by ten
thirty tonight. Damn.

Speaker 2 (02:05:24):
I'm a model of consistency around. You're a great Matt,
and you know you're so humble about it too. You
never pat yourself on the back. I never bring it up.

Speaker 1 (02:05:32):
I believe it's correct.

Speaker 5 (02:05:34):
Call you mister Modesty's what we call you.

Speaker 2 (02:05:36):
Meanwhile, Clanton, there's a four hour show, and I'll go
home and say very tired, very busy, and happy Mother's Day.
All the number one mother's out there. Yeah, so which
mine's number one? And the rest of you all are
fighting for a second?

Speaker 5 (02:05:53):
You all right?

Speaker 4 (02:05:54):
No?

Speaker 2 (02:05:55):
Not really seriously, I'm so that is what a great
take of mine. All I did was spend this those
who don't know. Ten o'clock this morning, we opened the
show with but we went on We've been on the
air for three hours. Damn, it's just flying by here.
Rosson we were talking about how everybody on Facebook said
I have the best mother everywhere, My wife's the best mother.

Speaker 1 (02:06:15):
I mean they're probably pretty good. M hmm, but you're wrong. No,
my mom's literally the best mom. No, my mom's the best.

Speaker 5 (02:06:25):
No, min's literally.

Speaker 2 (02:06:26):
What I'm going to do is that the well at
the Astros game today, I'm gonna go on everybody's Facebook
and say this is not entirely a true statement. Your
mom may be an opper echelon mom, You're you're going
to attack people and their mothers on Facebook all night.
I mean it feels like at least an hour's worth
of work. How you want to spend your time like friends?
Let me just run to Facebook really quick and I'll
get back to sports here. God, this is from yesterday.

(02:06:48):
Let's see here, picture you all over the point? Why
are you showing up at sports r V?

Speaker 5 (02:06:57):
See this? I should have?

Speaker 3 (02:06:58):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (02:06:58):
Here we go.

Speaker 1 (02:07:00):
Talk for a second. Rows there we go? Yeah, follow
me at sports RV on Instagram.

Speaker 5 (02:07:05):
I you know what I said.

Speaker 2 (02:07:06):
I was falling back everyone till one o'clock. I extended
it to one fifteen. I'm just trying to get my
numbers up. Oh wa, I just followed a bunch of
people too, So hope it worked out for me.

Speaker 5 (02:07:14):
Thank you, y'all.

Speaker 1 (02:07:15):
It'll be all to be weird or anything. Yeah, I
mean you can unfollow or mute them.

Speaker 5 (02:07:18):
It's fine.

Speaker 1 (02:07:18):
I'm not gonna do that once I stay.

Speaker 2 (02:07:20):
I don't unfollow, just unless you put something derogatory or
you follow people I don't like. So if somebody follows
somebody you don't like, you're gonna unfollow them. Correct, That
makes sense. Yeah, this is a bunch of.

Speaker 5 (02:07:35):
What doesn't doesn't Just let me be my live my life.

Speaker 8 (02:07:38):
It's okay.

Speaker 2 (02:07:39):
I know you're one of a kind man I am.
We love you for who you are and I would
never ask you to change uh hair on your head.
Thank you very much. It's too late. I got the
other non Mother's Day stuff in there just for next you.
We need to Mother's Day. Happy Mother's Day to my
great mother. And Michael, you call her number one? What
if you think she's the best. You think your mother's

(02:07:59):
the best. I think my mother's best.

Speaker 5 (02:08:00):
Why can't I.

Speaker 1 (02:08:01):
Say she's the best?

Speaker 2 (02:08:02):
Because I always so hung up on I will go
to your Twitter. I will go to your Facebook, gud
and say that you're wrong, but you'll be wrong. You
don't know that, Yes I do, all right? Hey, uh
somebody on Twitter a few minutes ago, speaking of Twitter, uh,
said that if you want to watch an NFL game
this year, here's what you're You're gonna watch them on ABC,
of course, CBS, NBC, ESPN, Fox, I already mentioned Fox, right, Fox,

(02:08:30):
ESPN plus, YouTube, Google, Amazon, Prime, Netflix, that's nine networks.
Everybody wants a piece of the NFL pie. Yeah, that's
that is impressive. The the wasn't there something They had

(02:08:50):
like fifty million viewers on Netflix for the Texans Ravens game,
and it was that was a complete blowout. Both of
them were lousy, right, Yeah, it was what Baltimore Pittsburgh up, No,
it was Pittsburgh, Kansas City.

Speaker 1 (02:09:02):
I think it's everybody's just trying to get their parlays,
you know.

Speaker 2 (02:09:04):
I think I think gambling and fantasy football helps NFL
ratings in a huge way.

Speaker 1 (02:09:08):
Toll Us on Sundays. I mean, I love the NBA.
You love the NBA.

Speaker 5 (02:09:12):
Most people just it's fine, neither football fix.

Speaker 2 (02:09:17):
This second round has been great. I've enjoyed the second round.
Most of the first round has been great too. Yeah,
maybe a playoff, I've been spectacular. I know, like you said,
Houston's not tuning in.

Speaker 5 (02:09:26):
Nope, and that's fine.

Speaker 1 (02:09:27):
We'll move on.

Speaker 2 (02:09:28):
But I will say this, speaking of tuning in, so
we mentioned last week about you know, NBC is going
to get the NBA back, and they got John Teshen.
He's gonna I don't know if he's gonna update round
Ball Rock the song, but he's giving his blessing to it.
And they've hired a bunch of different people to do analysis.
They have hired a special contributor.

Speaker 6 (02:09:50):
This is.

Speaker 2 (02:09:52):
Unbelievable, frankly, and that means whether he's on four or
five times, six times weekly, once a year, whatever.

Speaker 1 (02:10:00):
I want you to try to guess and you get.
Did you see it yet? Know who is this person?

Speaker 2 (02:10:05):
Okay, you're gonna former nb okay, a former NBA player
on the as a guest, be called a special contributor
on the NBC version of the NBA Games, and I'll
give you. I'll even give you three guesses. Nicholas Schiavili,
I'm gonna try to give you this again. Try this again,
three guesses, Michael Jordan, that's.

Speaker 1 (02:10:23):
Correct, See because you I just guess that because you
sounded it sounds crazy that he would be involved.

Speaker 5 (02:10:31):
M hm.

Speaker 2 (02:10:32):
He's never done anything in television since he left the
cash he sold every he's any multi billionaire, and what's
he spending his.

Speaker 5 (02:10:39):
Time doing this for?

Speaker 2 (02:10:40):
When we find out how much he's gonna get paid for,
which we will, I'm sure we will be dumbfounded by it.
You're probably right, And do you think like, for example,
that Last Dance documentary came out after Lebron won his
championship and he was like you al must have forgot.

(02:11:00):
Let me remind you a little something, and let me
remind you who I am, and I'm still the go right.
Do you think there's a little bit of that too.
I think it's like I think it's a combination of, Hey,
this all this Lebron stuff. I can tell you who
the greatest is. It's me because I believe NBC is
giving him a lot of money because they're putting a
lot of money into this product. They think the NBA
is where it's at and they're putting a lot of

(02:11:20):
money behind it. And third, my guess is it's probably
not a huge commitment. It's probably four to five times
a year. It'd be interesting it is. I'll tell you
one unintended benefit, and I know that ninety nine percent
audience won't care. I bet we get the schedule out
a lot earlier because I know that NBC is going
to want to spend the fall promoting their NBA coverage

(02:11:43):
on their football stuff, and when you put the schedule
out in late August, it doesn't give you a whole
lot of time to do that. So I think it's
a positive for me because I like to kind of
know what my life is can be like for the
next nine months, you do two to a certain extent.
So the NBA has always been very late with releasing
the schedule. I think it's gonna be all that's just
a guess of mine feeling.

Speaker 5 (02:12:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:12:03):
Yeah, So Michael Jordan's gonna join NBC Sports. You got
Charles Barkley staying with inside the NBA even though it's
gonna be on ESPN, And Charles Barkley has been going
on every show he possibly can to crush TNT and
crush ESPN. He's like, if you want to fire me,
fire me, I don't care. I'll do my I'll commit

(02:12:24):
I'll do my commitment. But I'm not gonna I'm not
I don't want to. He He basically annihilates Kendrick Perkins
whenever he can. He doesn't respect Stewart Scott not so
Scott stephen A.

Speaker 8 (02:12:35):
Smith.

Speaker 1 (02:12:36):
Yeah, He's like, I'm not going on every week. I'm
not going on every where every one of the shows
because what ESPN does. They pay their people a lot,
but they also put them on every show, so it's
too much of everybody. I mean, as great as this
show is, which you want to be on, it's seven
thirty nine thirty one o'clock two thirty four forty five
six o'clock nine thirty.

Speaker 5 (02:12:56):
That'd be too much. It'd be too much Ross's and
Ross and Matt how much as Stephen Amy. That's true.
I like the challenge in that.

Speaker 1 (02:13:05):
I'm going to ESPN. Yeah, you get a shot for
thirty minute a year, that's right.

Speaker 2 (02:13:10):
Seven one three two, one two five seven ninety seven
one three two one two five seven nine zero are
the astro bats based off of Ross this weekend starting
to turn the corner. The production against the Natty not
fully woken up, but they kind of open up an eye.

Speaker 5 (02:13:30):
They're a little.

Speaker 1 (02:13:30):
Groggy, are they Are their eyes still dilated? Are they
hitting snooze or are they getting up?

Speaker 5 (02:13:36):
Hmm?

Speaker 1 (02:13:38):
What's waiting for them when they get up? A cup
of coffee?

Speaker 2 (02:13:41):
Victories American League West Championship fresh squeeze, orange juice, m
bacon morning whoop be I knew you were going to
go there, but I'm just gonna step right over that.
Waffles or pancakes or French toast ooh, in order real
quick French toast, waffles, pancakes and pancakes are distant. Third,

(02:14:02):
I'm going pancakes, waffles, French toes. I got you flipped.
You like pancakes of the other two, it's sentimental. I
think for me, my mom used to make pancakes when
I was a kid. I love pancakes, So.

Speaker 1 (02:14:13):
You're going sentimental on the cake. Yeah, it's delicious.

Speaker 4 (02:14:16):
I like one.

Speaker 2 (02:14:17):
Hey, by the way, I love waffles and French toast.
Don't get me wrong.

Speaker 5 (02:14:21):
It's like three.

Speaker 2 (02:14:21):
It's like the Mount rushmore like three goats. Give me
Texas toast made French toast for the win.

Speaker 1 (02:14:28):
What about some holla bread, hollow bread, two stale sourdough
works as well?

Speaker 5 (02:14:33):
Beautifully.

Speaker 2 (02:14:35):
Breakfast talk will continue after we talk about the Astros
two seven one, three seven one.

Speaker 1 (02:14:41):
On Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 2 (02:14:46):
Astros start a weekend series, a week week series, I
should say, three games with the Kansasity. We're else Tonight, Tuesday,
and Wednesday, and then they have a weekend series against
the Texas Rangers. I'm not you know, what, have we
done ourselves a disservice by not going up to Arlington
just yet? That series starts, by the way, on Thursday.

(02:15:07):
It's a four game series Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Speaker 1 (02:15:11):
In Arlington.

Speaker 2 (02:15:12):
Uh, the press box is like you're you're like one
hundred thousand feet in the air.

Speaker 1 (02:15:17):
It's really really it's it's the highest point of the stadium.

Speaker 2 (02:15:20):
You can't want to pop up happens you don't know
where it's going because you've got no depth perception. It's
like you got no if the perspective is not correct.
But ross were not entitled media, we would like to be.
I'm no, I'm entitled media. Yeah good, I'm just kidding.

Speaker 5 (02:15:32):
I'd look.

Speaker 2 (02:15:33):
You can say with the people, yeah, it's probably half empty. Well,
and I'm with the Astros in town. No, I would
like uh, I would probably say a sweet would be fine.

Speaker 1 (02:15:41):
Yeah, Astros are coming into Arlington to boost the economy.
Oh yeah, shout out to those of you them, go
get up.

Speaker 5 (02:15:48):
It was just the A's in town.

Speaker 1 (02:15:49):
There wouldn't be anybody there. Everybody wants to go and
rude against the Astros and Astros frans are gonna go
up there and can give millions of dollars to the
Arlington economy. You're welcome whatever county all are in. What
is Arlington County?

Speaker 3 (02:16:00):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (02:16:01):
Is that?

Speaker 2 (02:16:02):
Are they part of Arrant County? I know that that's
Fort Worth, no idea. Okay, this guy, we call you
County Master. That's what we call you, the county Commissioner,
Matt Terren County.

Speaker 5 (02:16:14):
I like it.

Speaker 2 (02:16:14):
It is correct, Okay. Yeah, I don't mind Arlington. I mean, look,
I can get the it sucks. I can get a
pawn shop. I can get a strip club.

Speaker 5 (02:16:27):
I got.

Speaker 2 (02:16:27):
I got a variety of Sam's and Walmarts and uh
the other places like that.

Speaker 1 (02:16:32):
I mean it's fine. Hotels are reasonable. I mean six
Flags are still there.

Speaker 2 (02:16:39):
Yeah, I want to go see some rusted out roller
coasters and nasty six Flags. I'm done with roller coasters.
By the way, I told you that you got cause
didn't at that place in whatever gardens or whatever. No,
it's in Cleveland.

Speaker 5 (02:16:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:16:52):
What is that place called Cedar, Cedar Point maybe Cedar something. Yeah,
didn't somebody die or get hurt. Somebody got hur piece
of it got hit hit her in the head. We
were just there like three weeks beforehand. Yeah, I'm out.
I'm with you, way out, all right. So to the Astros,

(02:17:13):
they did the offense. I mean, even though they lost
the game over the weekend, the Astros offense did show
up I mean, it wasn't you know, I got there late,
especially after falling behind ten outing.

Speaker 1 (02:17:24):
It wasn't late. They didn't even get a shot. I
did zero before they even came to Bade. But think
about it.

Speaker 2 (02:17:30):
Friday, they win, They score three, which wasn't great, But again,
you shut out the Reds. How about the Red Series?
Zero thirteen and zero. That's that's that's baseball on a nutshell.
That's why if you ever have a team get no
hit on one day, bet them to win the next.

(02:17:52):
It seems like, oh, the Astros score double digits and
then well they have I think they've still only done
that once this year and they scored Dodget It was
back in the year's past. It was yeah that we
used to we used to joke save these for the tomorrow,
when we literally meant that. We entered the weekend within
twentieth in team ops. Now they are fourteenth, bad tore

(02:18:14):
waking up. They're waking up, baby, let's go. And then now,
of course lines with colors are getting sheld and Hayden wizness.
He has elbow discomfort.

Speaker 1 (02:18:23):
So it's crazy how the pendulum can sometimes swing between
you pitch and you can't hit, you hit, and you
can't pitch. I gotta be honest with you.

Speaker 2 (02:18:32):
When the astros tell me something's discomforting, that automatically means
it's long term for me. And that's not always the case.
Because there was discomfort in Jose's hamstring.

Speaker 1 (02:18:43):
Over the weekend.

Speaker 2 (02:18:44):
Yeah, they're not necessarily saying it's a long term thing.
As a matter of fact, it could be back, probably,
but maybe sometime this series or maybe even the Ranger series.

Speaker 5 (02:18:51):
They said twenty four to forty eight hours.

Speaker 1 (02:18:52):
I'm concerned with a soft tissue injury with somebody like
josel Two of it was how hard he plays right
trying to cover tear Torian left field, and how much
he always wants to be out there. I am concerned
with reinjury.

Speaker 5 (02:19:06):
But we'll see. He's thirty was he thirty five? Thirty five?

Speaker 2 (02:19:12):
First soft tissue injury? I think thirty five year olds
with hammy issues. That sounds like that could be something
that could be something watch come back in seventy two hours.
That seems pretty wild, Yeah, but hopefully it's just mild.
We're gonna trust them. The Westnasky thing, to me is
a bigger concern because the two starts ago, there was
a velocity drop. He skips a start and then has

(02:19:33):
to get to fore innings and really tries hard, and
then they're shutting him down for a few days to
let it not cool off. But uh, it was a
term they were using yesterday, calm down. So they're saying
calm down. Yeah, okay, calm down. Each town you know
information can calm down. Yeah, doesn't sound good. Bank God,

(02:19:55):
there's debt some I mean not names you necessarily recognize.
That would be We'll see how Colton Gordon looks on Wednesday,
and likely nothing's been announced. But yeah, uh, and you again,
you need a six starter at least for the next
week and a half.

Speaker 1 (02:20:12):
Astros. I'm gonna look a real quick.

Speaker 2 (02:20:13):
The Astros next home day home, excuse me, next off
day is Stay with me on this, don't leave me.
Let's say they play Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Their next off
day is not until May Memorial Day. Why aren't they
playing a Memorial Day?

Speaker 5 (02:20:32):
That's stupid.

Speaker 2 (02:20:33):
Wait, they're off on Memorial Day off. Oh FM, that's
good man. You get your first Memorial Day off in
like ten years. I will say this not to bragging
myself but I will brag I have worked a lot
of Memorial Days in July fourth, because I know you
guys pick up the load of the stuff during this,
especially before during the Rocket season. Case in point, I
told you I have worked this Saturday, and I will
be working this Saturday's Astros game.

Speaker 1 (02:20:52):
Man, you're the best.

Speaker 2 (02:20:54):
Well, you'll be well, you'll be at the outdoor theater
listening to some light jazz. I'll be working out. I
will be actually think, listen to some blue It's my
dad's birthday coming up, so we'll be going out on Saturday.
Shout out to Pop's birthday tomorrow.

Speaker 5 (02:21:06):
Some birthday.

Speaker 1 (02:21:08):
I didn't understand it.

Speaker 5 (02:21:09):
Word you said, tell him?

Speaker 1 (02:21:10):
He said, have birthday. Talking very fast, Jonathan, I swear
I promise about this. You're so excited about talking, but
it's like I'm working on it day. Yeah, you're day.
It's okay.

Speaker 2 (02:21:20):
Well, for first of all, all three of us talk fast.
Uh you really are going ahead this new breaking next
speed over there. It's impressive.

Speaker 5 (02:21:27):
You talk like you run.

Speaker 1 (02:21:28):
They do fast talking competitions. Yeah, when people do reading.

Speaker 12 (02:21:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:21:33):
Auctions, yeah, yeah you do that.

Speaker 1 (02:21:35):
Yeah, I mean you should be an auctioneer.

Speaker 5 (02:21:37):
Wait that day.

Speaker 2 (02:21:38):
Hold on, I got hold on, I want to try
real quick. Let me see if I can do some auctioning.
But listen and see if I'm gonna good at this
three two one.

Speaker 12 (02:21:49):
Three three forty three and a half a dollar forty
three and a half. I don't think three four forty four,
one hundred and forty four forty four a three and
a half and a full full way a don a
forty three and a half and a half and forty
four seldom one hundred and forty three and a high
one forty three and a half. Put them on number
one O nine on sixteen one oh nine on order sixteen.

Speaker 1 (02:22:06):
Wow, how do you think I did well?

Speaker 5 (02:22:08):
Matt?

Speaker 3 (02:22:08):
That was like that?

Speaker 2 (02:22:11):
Oh my god, that was good. You should be a professional.
By the way, I got to tell you something, and
you have inspired me to do this. I kicked the
tires on doing some ring announcing at for some UFC yes,
and they're like, we don't need you. Oh all right,
we'll save that for Wednesday. We can tell them to
shut their bum asses up. No, no, no, no, no, no,

(02:22:33):
we're not We're doing the opposite on Wednesday.

Speaker 5 (02:22:35):
Oh that's right.

Speaker 11 (02:22:36):
What do we do?

Speaker 5 (02:22:37):
What do we call it.

Speaker 1 (02:22:37):
We had we had a we have to workshop the name.

Speaker 5 (02:22:40):
I had a color of brainstorm and he said, takyo
ish oh, okay, talk here. That's only that's the only here.

Speaker 4 (02:22:46):
Talk.

Speaker 2 (02:22:49):
Somebody else suggest let me find it. What is the
opposite to shut your bob ass up? Meaning we want
to hear more from you?

Speaker 5 (02:22:55):
Mm hm.

Speaker 1 (02:22:58):
Oh you just call it tell us more?

Speaker 5 (02:23:00):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (02:23:01):
Oh.

Speaker 1 (02:23:02):
We had somebody on Twitter say say it from your
chest Wednesday.

Speaker 5 (02:23:06):
Hmm.

Speaker 1 (02:23:07):
I'd like to see Taylor tell me from her chest?

Speaker 5 (02:23:10):
Oh right? Is that you going straight?

Speaker 3 (02:23:12):
There?

Speaker 1 (02:23:17):
Am I lying? If Taylor told you from her chest,
would you argue with it?

Speaker 2 (02:23:22):
I don't know how I host with a fifteen year
old home owner, old boy and an eighty year old
man at the same time with your music tastes and
other tastes. It's incredible. Actually one of a kind. Follow
you know what, follow sports MPT on Instagram. At sports

(02:23:43):
mt I just say things that people think. I wasn't
thinking about Taylor's chest at that moment. There are others
that were, alright, man, I'm getting I got a bunch
of new people. Dang, by the way, some people are

(02:24:05):
I have to be requested to follow that. I just requested,
y'all you better follow me. Let's go, I mean, accept
my request. Now you don't have to.

Speaker 1 (02:24:13):
I'm at twenty five seventy six. Now that's great. I'm okay.

Speaker 2 (02:24:18):
On my Instagram it's something but meaning with a bunch
of rocket photos. If you like rockets, that's fine. There's
me talking to Joe a spot in spring training. Looks
like I'm the true journalist that I am.

Speaker 5 (02:24:30):
Just saying. All right, Uh, I was talking with the
Chest and Taylor and I lost track of the show.
That's okay, that's sound for a break. What are we
doing next?

Speaker 3 (02:24:38):
Oh we are.

Speaker 1 (02:24:40):
You're gonna break down lottery odds for every team.

Speaker 5 (02:24:44):
Let's get to this.

Speaker 2 (02:24:44):
Let's get to Yannis because that is worthy of a conversation. Yes',
honest is contemplating in life Without. Milwaukee we'll discuss that coming.
Up oh you're working our eyes something something going. Down
i'll just give you the tweet THAT i didn't listen
to the, audio but WHAT i read it's Kay adams
on With. Shams they have a very flirtatious. Relationship Is

(02:25:05):
yiannis Kay? Adams?

Speaker 1 (02:25:06):
Yeah, yes is The Pope catholic, Okay.

Speaker 5 (02:25:10):
Yiannis to The.

Speaker 2 (02:25:11):
Lakers, okay well we. Will we'll get into this in
a minute one On Sports talk seven and. Eight so
tonight at six o'clock or, thereabouts we will know The
rockets drafting in the Upcoming june. Draft now, again they
can go right now if they play the percentages they
would have the ninth, pick they could go all the

(02:25:33):
way to. Fourteen but the numbers between nine and fourteen
are significant. Different so my guess is the overriding numbers
they'll stay at. Nine there is a small percent chance
they can go to four into three and to two into.
One they cannot go five to, Eight so it's either
one to four or nine to, twelve nine to. Fourteen excuse, me,
okay as the MORNING tv shows were, saying BECAUSE i

(02:25:58):
was very curious as soon as the whole thing About
giannis is willing to listen to offers to Leave, milwaukee
and IT'S i don't think he's like miserable. THERE i
think they know they got to do a reboot Because
Damian lillard's on the hook for fifty million dollars next
year and will not play a single game for them

(02:26:19):
fifty million. DOLLARS i MEAN i Love Dame, LOLARD i
mean one of the all time. Grades but that's insane.

Speaker 5 (02:26:26):
Money that IS i.

Speaker 1 (02:26:28):
Feel like if you make fifty million dollars in your,
life you should be able to cure cancer.

Speaker 5 (02:26:33):
Or, well you just have to remember how much the
teams and the owners are.

Speaker 4 (02:26:35):
Making that is.

Speaker 5 (02:26:36):
True the only PERSON i.

Speaker 2 (02:26:37):
Forget about, That but let me forget about, it, Please
Dame lollard at all time seventy five? Great, yeah was
he on the? LIST i would put him on my.
LIST i think he makes The hall Of. Fame but,
yeah but The hall Of fame is not nearly as
a students the seventy five to seventy, five he doesn't
make The.

Speaker 5 (02:26:56):
Sports Every hall Of. Fame how about?

Speaker 2 (02:26:58):
That where The sports and The sports R V hall Of,
fame we we reserve it for the greatest of the
greatest of THE rossi for a five or six years
Out tracy, McGrady you're. Out, YEAH i mean you're out
ross for five or six year. Starts Daman lillver was
scoring about thirty five points a game with his eyes. Closed,
yeah let's see how many scoring championships for the Lad?

(02:27:20):
Zero but how many top fives in those probably a.

Speaker 1 (02:27:25):
Lot, yeah uh.

Speaker 2 (02:27:26):
Thirty he averaged thirty two points per game in twenty
three and didn't win a scoring.

Speaker 5 (02:27:30):
Championship was that.

Speaker 1 (02:27:30):
The year that That embiid was averaging like thirty five or?
Something was that the game where he had like eighty
against The? Rockets not eighty but? Sixty he scored. Sixty
let's See rookie of The.

Speaker 5 (02:27:41):
Year nine Time All?

Speaker 2 (02:27:42):
Star, yeah seven all THE. Nba BUT i don't know
which that's that's first third? Team, yeah only one time first,
team four times second? Team Is, Yeah i'm not gonna
say he's gonna make. It you're gonna make. It he's
not on a part of the seventy five and seventy
five or is?

Speaker 1 (02:27:59):
He look that?

Speaker 5 (02:28:00):
Up all? Right back to?

Speaker 2 (02:28:02):
It poipping is that they're a. Mess they need they
need to. Overhaul he, was, okay all, right he's. In,
yeah they need to. Overhaul they know That giannis And
damien take up so. Much Plus Brook lopez makes a
lot of money. TOO i don't know if it's if
it's a contract year for him or, not but he
ties up a lot of. Money i'm Sure Bobby porters
is not. Cheap who, Oh Kyle kusma's not cheap for
then maybe that trade With washington earlier in the.

Speaker 1 (02:28:23):
Year they're a. Mess they're a. Mess they've got no draft.

Speaker 2 (02:28:27):
Picks they need to they need to, reconfigure not necessarily,
reboot but reconfigure their.

Speaker 1 (02:28:32):
TEAM i can't Remember i've read something on how how
bad it.

Speaker 2 (02:28:35):
Was it's, like, yeah, they as you, mentioned no, picks cap,
hell bad, contracts and whatever they get back is going
to be a significant hall.

Speaker 5 (02:28:45):
Whatever whatever.

Speaker 2 (02:28:46):
Yacht if they do pull the trigger And milwaukee makes a,
trade they will strike it rich from a variety of draft.
Picks and BECAUSE i don't Think milwaukee wants to go
twenty four and forty fifty eight next. Year they want
to go they want to make the playoffs next. Year
they're probably thinking we're not close with title. Contender but
they have they have made it abundantly clear they do
not want to be a bottom dweller OR i Think

(02:29:07):
phoenix kind of has to do. That if they Moved,
durant and if they Moved Devin, booker which it sounds
like they may not Move, Booker durant sounds like a.

Speaker 5 (02:29:13):
Possibility, uh they're.

Speaker 1 (02:29:16):
Not they're not ready to do something with The rockets
diead a bunch of years, ago and that was to bottom,
out to start to build from.

Speaker 2 (02:29:21):
Scratch they're. Not they don't think they're built to do.
That so here's the, thing how crazy will it be
tonight on THE nba rumor mill Meaning? Twitter If San
antonio Or houston gets into the top. Four this top
four ross makes.

Speaker 5 (02:29:43):
Things rockets number one intriguing.

Speaker 1 (02:29:47):
For.

Speaker 2 (02:29:48):
Milwaukee doesn't mean it's going to be a. Guarantee AND
i haven't he, Said AS i, Said i'm i to
tell the. TRUTH i didn't think a GUARANT i didn't
think a top four spot Means giannis goes there BECAUSE
i think there's gonna be ten teams that are gonna
be looking For. GIANNESS i think it's gonna be the
Two New york. Teams it's gonna Be houston Sant. Anturnaro that's.
FOUR i Think New orleans will kick the tires on.
It you said, that who was said somebody The lakers

(02:30:10):
a minute? Ago, Yeah shams shot Runnia Oh shamson mentioned The.

Speaker 1 (02:30:14):
Lakers HE i didn't click on the video That the
title of the Tweet betwis K Adams, show and it
Says yiannis to The, Lakers so maybe it's, possible BUT
i don't even. Know they don't have assets for. That
Unless lebron's going, Out well you can send Them Austin.

Speaker 2 (02:30:26):
Reeves let me tell, You Austin reeves is going is
first of, all gonna make a lot of. Money second of,
all whatever team he goes, to he's gonna score twenty
points a game.

Speaker 5 (02:30:35):
For, Them, Jannis luca And lebron if they don't win a, Championship.

Speaker 2 (02:30:44):
How does how do The spurs not become all of
a sudden this team to be worried? About if you
have the back to back rookies of the year With
Victor Webbin yama And Stefan cassel mm, hmm plus The Iron,
fox plus The Iron, fox and be, honest how does
that team not wake up a fifty?

Speaker 5 (02:31:02):
Wins they would.

Speaker 2 (02:31:05):
Easily and you can't see block The spurs by grabbing
your own player by him because whoever has said before
if you're going to Grab jannis who's thirty years, old
who has at least three years of the best of
him left in his, body, YEAH i wonder how concerned

(02:31:26):
you would be with him not ever being not having
a credible jump, shot and how much longer he can
continue to just dive into the paint and be as
effective as he is with no jump. Shot he can
do it with his athleticism that he has right, now
obviously right and his size obviously. Matters he's very hard
to guard any over like sixty percent from the field
around the. Nose they're thirty points per.

Speaker 4 (02:31:48):
Game.

Speaker 1 (02:31:50):
Freak do you know what that?

Speaker 2 (02:31:51):
Was you know that thing is still doesn't. Solve if
you're A rockets, fan where you getting the outside jump
shot from.

Speaker 5 (02:32:01):
Uh Reed? Chipper?

Speaker 1 (02:32:02):
WELL i Would my guess is Read chepper would be
a part of the, trade.

Speaker 2 (02:32:07):
Maybe first round pick under team control for four more,
years especially if somehow you don't have a Men thompson
and you Keep if you have a men's shingoon and
youannis out, there there's just gonna be five dudes hanging
out in the, paint which they couldn't, do by the,
way Against Michael, Jordan can we ask for a jump?

Speaker 5 (02:32:26):
Shooter, yes we.

Speaker 1 (02:32:28):
Tried we thought we got one of the number three overall.

Speaker 5 (02:32:30):
Pick now he's still, young he's just a.

Speaker 1 (02:32:31):
Rookie, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:32:36):
And would it be VERY nba Of Cooper flag While
i'm staying at number, one pick going To. Utah let's
see what odds do they? Have, Hold i'm gonna simulate
a lot of rebat boom. Rockets pick. Tenth, ooh that's not.
Good it's a drop Of portland drops To portland jumped
to one in this SEM i just Did utah has
a fourteen percent. Chance, yees so they're in the top.
Three thinking about the, School think about the teams that

(02:32:58):
had the three. Best help me out with the Zip, Utah, Washington.
Charlotte AM i correct on? That, yes, Uh, Utah, Washington,
charlotte and they all have fourteen? Percent and what's the
fourth team after? That New orleans has twelve and a,
Half philadelphia ten and a. Half, okay so the top
four teams are four of who gives a blank about their?
Franchises are You are you all of a sudden gonna

(02:33:22):
Put utah on NATIONAL tv seven times next?

Speaker 1 (02:33:24):
Year does A cooper? Flying are you gonna Put charlotte
on a bunch of? Times let me tell you, so
THE nba guys ain't Letting Cooper fly go to one
of those. Teams, yeah actually they're going, to cause the
odds are so overwhelmingly in their.

Speaker 2 (02:33:37):
Favor, yeah even then though you add it all, up
what is that forty two? Percent, yeah still over fifty.
Percent it won't be one of those three. Teams gonna be.
Interesting lottery tonight six. O'clock i'll be, Watching, actually won't be.
Ill i'll be the astros on. Deck you want to
do dondee for?
