with was one off. It's a one offie shure. Yes,
you tried it once and you won't do it again.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
No.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
I've only had soak scort it in me once. I
thought you did after the Rockets Championship. Oh no, that
was before I got on the air. Oh okay, and
I did dry heat three times so, but never in

(00:58):
the studio. Drive head a studio No. Seven one three
two one two. I don't want today. You've been in

(01:20):
eighteen bar You've been in nineteen bar fights, and they're
all by accident. You didn't start one of them.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
Sure, I said, jail.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Wait, you got an eighteen fights in jail. Yeah, that's
that happens in jail. Okay, are you inebriated right now? George?
I want Jonathan to Johnthan knows who Bill Cosby is, right,
I gotta hear this. I know who Bill Cosby is.

(01:51):
Well I don't know, you're like, you're like seventeen. Man. Here,
hold on, he's been bling, he's been bluing. Sorry, go ahead,
go ahead, Bill Cosmo, get me some of them deeble
pudding bobs. What do you say that you don't have
to remember him just for that? Can you say that
one more time? I don't O think I heard you correctly.

(02:12):
Go ahead, Matt Jonathan Uh. Former Astros player Kasmet Sewing
had to go on the UH at that time, it
was called the disabled list because of anal fishers.

Speaker 5 (02:29):
My healthy hid?

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Would you deal with? You have some more fries?

Speaker 6 (02:33):
No?

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Yeah, well you basically said, I gotta fill these fries up. Yes,
y'all gonna f this some more? I did.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Don't you shot me on the fries?

Speaker 2 (02:49):
And I am the king of short frying? You what
does that mean? When I was at mcdonald'shen I was
working in high school. Wait a minute, so you're a hypocrite. Yes,
that's what Igar came from. But but I was also seventeen.
I'm now an adult now and I would not do that.
If I was serving you fries, I would not chart
you unless you're rude to me. But let me tell

(03:09):
you something back in the day, and I'm sure they
do it today. It's a McDonald's world. If you're rude
at the counter, you order that large fry, you're gonna
probably get the small fry. We're just gonna stuff the
fries and uh yeah, that's probably what happens strategically, and
you're gonna it's gonna look like a large frib. It's
really gonna be small. They shorted you all three, all
the other two of you were like, yeah short, and

(03:31):
it was all like and I was at least at
the stones to say something. This commarcit is going, oh,
what did you accomplish though? What Stones? What did your
stones get you? Mister Stone? A kid's burger you got?
So maybe it was because yeah, you did get a
kids burger. They probably try to give you kids fries.
You don't what, No, I got a single patty? Okay,
what are you? They were like, that's for children. You

(03:53):
We wanted to light meal because you're gonna eat the
rockets correct? Correct? Yeah? Yeah, good act, Good morning, everybody. Hey,
happy right everybody. This is the Matt Thomas Show, Ross
and we are with you today on Anything Goes Friday
is in the case. In the first ninety seconds of
the goes h yeah, pretty much pretty much almost in me.
There are some things that don't go just poking that

(04:15):
bear an't your big baby. I'm not doing anything you are.
I'm just talking about in general life in general. Yeah,
FCC rules. Yeah, okay, speaking of that, may I you
may There is a webs an email service that they
got ahold of our email address. I certainly didn't subscribe to.
I'm on a bunch of lists of stuff like that.
I'm like, I don't know if I should be on this. Well,

(04:37):
this is nothing dangerous, but it's just stupid. So this
is an email that they send out prop bets, and
they send out who's the favorite for this, who's the
favorite for that? YadA, YadA, YadA. And this guy his
name is Josh. I'm sure I believe you're probably on
the email distribution to he's The subject line of this

(04:58):
was NBA slash FBI props for sentencing and next arrested
really the whole problem to begin with. So I I
read down on this email and it says the following,
you didn't think we were going to let one of
the biggest stories in NBA history pass without a betting angle,
did you well, frankly, Josh, yes, I don't think about you.

(05:18):
I'm not going to promote your website. And this is
a completely bogus list of uh like. The questions are
who receives a longer sentence? Will Billups and Rosier receive
lifetime bands?

Speaker 5 (05:29):
Next?

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Yes? And then they have a bunch of players they've
listed as the next player coach arrested for illegal gambling.
If but if I saw my name on this list,
I'd be like, you get my damn get your name
off mys on there. Third. I don't think he'll be arrested,

(05:54):
but apparently they got information on his injuries, thankfully from
Damon Jones. On this list, there is not a Houston rocket.
There are former rocket. Oh no, that's not true. There's
actually a rocket on there, the current rocket. Hold on again,
I guess. I don't want you to guess, because it's
in the current rocket. Posterous and it was odds on
this person. No, it's Kevin Durant. Kevin Durant. Yeah, I

(06:18):
mean it's stupid. It's just stupid. So you know what,
shame on you shut my own bumb ass up. I'm sorry,
ladies gentlemen, speaking of I'm sorry we have that coming
up at eleven thirty today. I'm sorry that we're not
having Frank Gore. And I was told we were gonna
have him, and then I sent out two emails and
no response back as to what time. So if he
shows up, he shows up, but chances are he's not.
And women had him the coll In line on a

(06:39):
recorder line. Yeah, anything goes Friday, including maybe Frank Gore.
I would say probably the chance of Frank Gore is
one in ten, okay, And thankful to promote Warre he
was going, because it doesn't do them any good to me.
Just say Frank's gonna be around. He might be. I
mean maybe he won't, maybe he won't make it, but
he comes on the show, I'll be happening to promote Warriot,
all right, But yeah we're there. Stress about it, man,

(06:59):
that's all right, Do you get it? You know, a
great show without Frank scratch yours. I'm not gonna be
anywhere near your back, that's true.

Speaker 7 (07:09):
All right.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
Let me set the show for you to yes eleven o'clock.
Greg Silver from KMBR, the sports leader in San Francisco's
gonna join us for a little forty hinder chatter eleven
thirty week. I'm sorry, So we're gonna wake the strippers
up at twelve noon today, at one o'clock, we're going
to have Doctor Rode for the fastest thirty minutes of
major market radio and got non Florida stories and helly,
a're not a very busy Friday edition of the show,
But as is the case every Friday, almost it feels

(07:34):
like since the inception of this show, I think close,
pretty close. I mean, I don't know, this show is
almost gonna about it. It's gonna be sixteen years in January.
What do you always? Oh, do you understand how lucky
we are? That's not that's not a oh, that's a
oh here. Yeah, I used to feel like I was

(07:54):
gonna do something in my life. We can get your
job in Omaha, that's what you want. I mean, I
can break down corn Husker volleyball. May're good, might do
that they're not bad, almost lovely. I mean, it's not
like a vacation destination, uh huh, but it's certainly it's
a nice Midwest destination, great food city, nice people, awesome

(08:17):
downtown steaks or freezer burned. You don't know that. If
you go with that company that pretends are from Omaha,
that's a different issue. Sure, not from Omaha. I wouldn't
say I've been misled. Okay, anything goes Friday seven one
three two point two five seven ninety Ross explain the
essence if anything goes Friday. Well, let's see Oma steaks.
We've talked about fries burgers, and of course some sports

(08:42):
anything you want to get to phone lines or open
at seven one three two one two five seven ninety
seven one three two one two five seven ninety where
you're getting continuing fallout with this whole betting thing with
the NBA, the biggest story in sports, one of the
biggest scandals I would say sports history. You have the
Texans continuing to hold as favorite. I don't get it.

(09:08):
How are they favored? Seriously, it's up to two and
a half. Okay, let's get respect the defense. Yes, that
that goes without saying it's Mac Jones. But he's there.
He's four and one since taking over a starter. Yes,
that's true, and they have played that. It's not a
run of the Jets, you know what I mean. They've
they've actually been. I mean they beat the Falcons, they

(09:28):
beat the Rams, good good, the Cardinals and the Saints. Okay,
two terribles and two good midst of good, but I
mean it's not for in a row. Correct and brock
Party was a limited participant at practice yesterdays. I will
tell you this. You do need to say what am
I missing here? It is one of those what am
I missing here? Lines? And I will also say two

(09:48):
things are happening that always make me think, Okay, I'm
missing something here. I'm surprised that the Texans are holding. Also,
I saw that the books are getting eighty percent of
the money on the Niners and they're still holding. So
they like their line. Sometimes when all the money pours
in one side, they'll move and be like, all right,
maybe we made a mistake. Let's go ahead and had
our bets here. They're like, no, we're good. They said,

(10:09):
let's go. Well, they said, bring it on. Christian McCaffrey's
having a great season. Yes, Texans can't cover tight ends.
We already know those things. And the Texans are without
their number one pass threat, Dalton Schultz, I think was
a limited participant practice yesterday, So he's banked with you.
I mean no running game, I got news, I got

(10:29):
terrible and usually don't make we don't. We don't do
a lot of predicting on the show because I think
largely when people make predictions on radio shows, it just
goes in in one or not the other. You gotta
make your pick, man. I'm put your name on it.
My name, Niners beat the Texans as weech. Oh you're
putting your name on it. Well, I mean that's your
gut feeling. It's gout, yeah, okay, gut feeling. Twenty one thirteen,

(10:50):
I'm gonna believe the books baby, twenty to sixteen. Texas.
You were trying to add it together, weren't you. No,
you were about the points given the Niners the points.
Oh you would, yeah, you do know this on the line,
I wouldn't run to Lake Charles with this stay away,
but I would. I would, you know what a brisk
walk if we were in Lake Charles, I'd be better

(11:11):
on than Texans, because, as I said, when when I
don't understand and I'm like, what the heck is going
on here and they're holding the line, I'm like, Okay,
they know something I don't know. I'm gonna go ahead
and do I'm gonna go ahead and well stick with
the Texans. Here's what they're probably thinking, and I got
I'm just guesstimating here. You give the Texans points at
home m number one, number two. Uh, you respect the

(11:33):
hell out of the Texans defense. As poorly as they
played against Seattle, they were still at a chance in
the final two minutes of Yeah, as Dimiko said, it
was a one possession game. I mean credit for him
for that. I guess mac Jones was bad against the
Falcone And is it a matter of time before Christian
McCaffery gets hurt. Hey, No, I don't think they're not
factoring that the line. No, but if he's gonna get

(11:55):
hurt againstnybody wouldn't be against a ferocious defense. I don't think,
I think, I think. I think to me, it's more
about mac Jones is due for another dud against a
good defense.

Speaker 4 (12:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
The last like he was winning games with them, and
in the last two games he's played, he's got no
touchdowns and three picks. So the blooms off that rose
a little bit. So that's if to answer our question,
it's there's very little trust in the book line about
Mac Jones would be make correct. Okay, So with that
being said, I think the Niners win. I think it's

(12:27):
it's not a question of the Texans defense keeping it close.
It's a question of how the hell they're going to score.
That's always a question. It's just it's just around it. I mean,
no Christian Kirk goes in practice all week. No Nico
Collins was a practice all week. The Marks Chubb combination
was not in me. When Dalton Schultz was the was
the part of the offense that moved? You're scared? I

(12:47):
would be. Yeah, the Niners are. I mean they're without
Nick Bosa and Fred Warner. But that was the same
thing last week and the Falcons only scored ten points. Yep,
Bjon Robinson was bottle there. I'll say this, the Texans
need to win this one. I mean, I know that
it's not a it's an AMC game, and but look,
the Chargers won yesterday. You know me, I'm standing is obsessed.

(13:09):
Yeah you are, and the Chargers will be clearly a
team that you're fighting with for a wald cartspot because
I think I think the division race is over. I
think you're gonna if you're gonna get in the postseason.
It's gonna have to be as a wild card, I
would agree. So everything so far is not helping out,
with the fact that the Chargers won yesterday not helping out.
Last week the Denver one against the Giants in the

(13:30):
final play did you see that? You see in that game?
By the way Denver and the yeah, I was on
on red zone. Oh my god, the wildest games, thirty
three in the fourth quarter, only zero points in three
quarters and thirty three and the fourth yeah yeah. Uh
So the last night the Chargers did win thirty seven
of the ten I was going against Justin Herberts. I'm
not happy about that. Come through for me. I gotta

(13:53):
maintain my six and one record. I'm one in six
and I and I had Quentin Johnson who didn't get
a point. It's over. Sorry for your loss, that's fine, Okay,
I'm starting. This is bad. I'm starting. What he marks?
Are you really? What is? What is the ESPN's point
party is not gonna play? What do they have for
Woody marks? Nine point seven? Okay? Now, remember in our league,

(14:16):
you get a half point for every hour sec half
PPR and you get one point for every ten yards
and then it's standard. It's standard where they have PPR.
So nine point nine seven means you're literally going to
be picking up like Tyrod Taylor. Aaron Rodgers, this is
bad Aaron Rodgers against Green Bay. That's not a horrible call.

(14:36):
Chance to do it against his old team. Did you see,
by the way what he said. I guess yesterday He's
like I when I retire, I'm retiring as a packer,
Joe Flacco, like a one day contract, you know, like
goofy stuff that cares whatever. We have the Rockets home
debut tonight, Yes we do. We gotta talk about that today.
You want to, uh huh watch bad coming your way
at six o'clock. Who's hosting it? That'd be me? Okay,

(14:58):
you know what I might listen. I'm battling through right now.
I don't know the allergies are cold or what? Well
you look like? Hell, thank you're looking at you running feet.
I'm gonna ta I'm gonna take a nap in between
this and that. Okay, me too, I want to take
a nap. You want to sleep together? No? Okay, good,
I was hoping you weren't. Seven one three two one
two five seven Natti seven one three two one two
five seven Natti, it's a Matt Thomas Show with Ross.

(15:19):
It's and Anything Goes Friday. If you want to chime
in seven one three two one two five seven naughty
with Anything Goes Friday on the Matt Thomas Show and

(15:47):
Ross seven one three two one two five seven ninety.
All right, again, there's gonna be so many more days
of this story revolve around the alleged poker game and
the and the price and game fixing and whatnot that
this could be. This is going to go on for

(16:08):
public year, so right, I mean, I don't think it's
gonna be solved anytime soon. Yeah, even more maybe quick
question because this is I was just thinven this last
night talking about this with my girl, and I was like,
is this how you guys felt when this all happened
with MJ and all the gambling stuff was going on
back in the nineties and stuff. Oh that's more of
a question for Matt. How much was that even public

(16:29):
the whole gambling and then with his when his father
got shot and all that. I would say it would
when he retired. The reason why people thought when Michael
retired the first time was because he was so devastated
about his father's murder. Some people thought it was because
if he had gambling. Yeah, and that's what's going on,

(16:49):
that's what's resurfacing now. Yeah, I would not say gambling
was a tied to the immediate Michael Jordan retirement. Number one.
I would say, if you were too, could a timeline.
Maybe it took Jonathan four or five years and maybe
after his retirement to connect the dots. And I am
of the belief that Michael Jordan had a gambling issue
in the NBA told him to take a year off.

(17:11):
I have no evidence of that. I'm just this just
one man's opinion. I wouldn't go to my grave with
it or I wouldn't put my life's savings on it.
But Michael Jordan is extra about everything in his life,
from his competition, to his desire to win, to a
desire to win into every level, whether it be on
a golf course, whether it be in a pool hall,
whether it be in at a casino, whether it be

(17:32):
on a basketball court, whether it be in business. And
so I think when things, you know, that's the one
thing gambling he can't control. Gambling you can't and if
you have an addiction to winning and being successful, you're
going to continue to compensate and get to get to
that level winning. And sometimes gamblers can't do that. So yeah,
I am of belief that there is something the NBA said, Hey,

(17:53):
let's go away for a little while. But no, it
was not immediately thought of as why is Michael Jordan
retiring in the height of his NBA career. It was
presumed it was because of his uh mourning and sorrow
and despair for losing his father because even they were
very tight and then you remember about that, Yeah, not really,

(18:14):
So that's how I kind of saw it. Uh seven
one three two one two five seven ninety seven one
three two one two five seven ninety's and anything goes
Friday Here on the Matt Thomas Hill. Ross Patrick is
first up in West University on seven. Nunty Patrick, good morning, Hey,
good morning guys.

Speaker 8 (18:30):
H three lane.

Speaker 9 (18:32):
Sorry about that, Uh, Ross, I got whatever you got to.
I just flew back in from Europe and my science
is all crazy messed up and I just called in
to complain about my sports teams. Uh, Lsu. I'm an
LSU guy. I went to school there. I'm getting my
second degree at you of age. But I'm an LU
guy through and Drew and I just don't know. I mean,

(18:54):
I normally love this week because I love talking. It's
back to eight and m fans. Yeah, you'll probably gonna
win by a least seventeen points, and so I have
no no typing about this game. My Saints suck and
Bullham's about to get relegated, so hopefully the Rockets can
pull through the far mate. You'll have a good one.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
Guy, Thanks very much. You know what Patrick just did.
He just called us and was just sad and said,
I got to talk to somebody. I'm in my car,
I have my GPS talking to me. I appreciate him. Yeah, well,
full of FC. That's a tough one. Are there are
other the relegation zone sitting pretty on eight points? It's
all good right now. Okay, back to the other stuff,

(19:38):
you know, Matt, The bottom three teams in the Premier
League get relegated to the to the what's called the Championship, yes,
and the Second League.

Speaker 7 (19:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (19:45):
I hear relegation in my house all the time, and
it's usually about me to the backyard. Well, Tottenham's in
sixth they're doing good. Okay, that's nice. Were talking about
your house my wife, Oh, because I'm gonna relegate you
to the back to the garage. Yeah, she's really getting
you to certain duties. M hmm, makes sense. Yeah. The
Saints suck.

Speaker 10 (20:02):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (20:03):
Rattler's not been terribly. He just hasn't been great. I
mean they've got issues. They don't tackle very well. That good.
They have no running game, they have secondary is a
hot mess. Yeah. I was gonna say if he brought
up the Pelicans, that would have been even worse. But
he's a Rocket fan, so I'll give him some hope.
LSU is only two and a half point dogs to
A and M at home Beton Rouge Death Valley at Night,

(20:24):
Let's go. My middle is scared to death about a
trap game because A and M has You know, how
is it a trap game? They're number twenty in the country,
they're five and two. But I mean just the A
and M football has not achieved this sort of success
in a very long period. I think somebody said this
is the first time they're seven and oh since nineteen
ninety four. I mean, this is I mean, think about

(20:47):
where this program was two years ago, about Hey, we're
lucky to be seven and five, and you're paying Jimbo
Fisher all this money and oh, by the way, you
can't possibly pay Jimbo Fisher all this money firing because
you all all the money. Well they did, you know
what's funny to me? And that kind of ties into
what Mike Elko was talking about, is how Mike Elko
is his hot name and people are talking about him

(21:07):
with the Penn State job and and he might have
been off base saying three weeks ago, I was fired.
But if they lose at LSU, which would not be
the craziest thing in the world, and at Missouri the
next week, two games on the road against top twenty
five competition, then all of a sudden, he won't be
as hot of a name in two weeks. In two weeks,
so they play next week, they're at Missouri. Oh I coopedia. Yeah,

(21:30):
Mike drink was, by the way, is a hot name
for a variety of different jobs, or as the kids
are calling him, drink was original. I know that's six
seven seven one three two seven ninety seven one three.
I don't know what that means that I don't want
to know. That's fine, you're not you're not in with
the local jingo uh h jing local jing jingo jing

(21:52):
jing jing jing. Oh is that what the kids are
staying Matt? Yeah, the logo jingo. So I did ask
what six seven was and they're like, we really don't know,
but people or just saying it, I actually know what
it is. But okay, so uh yeah, uh nussmer I
mean ridiculously highly touted, ridiculously average. Oh oh, highly touted

(22:15):
quarterbacks not playing up to par. I mean, so you're
familiar with these things. Hm, sixty six percent completion percentage
this year, eleven touchdowns, five interceptions. Well, the reality is
sixty six percent good. But I mean I'm going to
presume that that LSU played again, I mean the scallot.
The schedule's not balanced, so it depends on who you play.

(22:36):
Uh huh, Like, let's take a let's take a look
at his game log and that that's the quarterback. I
mean it was nineteen of twenty eight for two twenty
five in which directional Louisiana was he beaten up on? Yeah,
I mean early in the year they played La Tech
in Southeast Louisiana. Yeah, they lost a Monsoura it's like
a barnstorming tour of the state, so they have to
come home. That's what LSU does. Yeah, I know, you

(22:58):
know what is very charitable of them. They're cutting checks
to all these underprivileged programs in the state. It's very nice,
like Texas with Sam Houston and you tip. So really,
you guys are a gift that keeps on giving. Absolutely. Okay,
that makes sense. You know you discount when you do
it within your system. If you play ut L passo
and you got to cut a check, I mean you
are paying Peter to pay Paul or Mary hey your

(23:21):
little tax break on that, that'd be nice. Yeah. Seven
one three two one two five seven. How did we
Peter Paul Mery get in the show? I don't know.
I don't know. I think I put it in there.
Seven one three two one two five seven outy. Look,
I told Payton, I said, you gotta be nervous. Ls
use first of ball is an excellent football team. General mean,
they're they're not chopped liver.

Speaker 7 (23:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (23:40):
Their losses are by one score to Ole Miss and
Vanderbilt on the road. Yeah, so that Clemson win is
not looking as impressive. But Clemson's rounding in a form, right,
and they then they turn things around. By the way,
we got confidation in that there will be no uh
mister Gordon, no Frank Gore nor see all right, see

(24:04):
in the hospital maybe next week, mat family emergency. Next
week is the family emergency? Was it was his daughter's
birthday yesterday? Oh of course he's mismatale. Yeah, you had
to go get her some cake, you know, out of
the category of I just don't get it. I've talked
about this before. Go ahead, people take their days off
of their banking for their birthdays. If it's if your
birthday's on a Tuesday or a Thursday, Well, why would
you do that? Now you can make a birthday weekend

(24:25):
out of it. I get, but it's Wednesday again. I
will be off for my birthday this year. Yeah, but
you're taking an entire week. Yeah. I normally will normal Okay,
I will say it this way. I don't normally take
a lot of vacation early in the year, and generally
I have some at the end of the year that
I need to take. And my birthday is December nineteenth,
so so normally it's like, hey, I got vacation days

(24:46):
to use I'll use them around my birthday. Yeah, but
I mean I have worked with so many people and
have friends that like it's a it's a Wednesday, August ninth.
I'm taking that, but I'll see on Thursday. Okay, yeah, no,
I'll take it off. See I am, I I am
a big point of working on my birthday. And here
you go because you want everyone to shower you with
gifts and adulation. I don't care about that. Not only gifts.

(25:09):
A cake would be nice, Okay. I got a forty
when I was I turned forty. Here I got a
cake with a picture of my face on. This is
the way I see. It's my birthday. It's the one
day where it's all about me. I ain't gonna be
sitting here next to you. I'm gonna be on vacation.
I'm gonna be doing whatever I want. I'm gonna be
on a beach, I'm gonna be at a national park
and be camping. I'm gonna be doing something I want
to do. So it's torture to be with me on
your birthday. I didn't say that, okay, but if that's

(25:31):
what you took out of it, I mean it is
what it is. Well, I'm gonna promise you next June fifth,
I'll maybe be with you, hopefully in an NBA shut up. Hey,
remember when I told you I was gonna get to
you the other day? Suddenly unavailable? Seventy three two five seven,

(25:55):
Speaking of which, I need to get on that. You
get away from me, both of you, Matt and Ross.
It's ten thirty seven on Anything Goes Friday. We got
a game one of the World Series tonight, so you

(26:17):
and I will not be watching it because we're going
to be busy with our Rockets responsibilities.

Speaker 7 (26:20):
I have it open.

Speaker 2 (26:22):
I can't. I mean, I guess I have a shab open.
Check you can't. That's good. But yeah, I've seen a
variety of memes on the social media streets that all
of America except a small quadrant of southern California is
rooting for the Toronto Blue Jays. I would say that's
probably accurate. They are the Dodgers are the evil Empire. Now,

(26:45):
my good friend and the Spanish announcer for the Rockets,
Adrian Trevory, is a dinehard Dodger fan. Would you go
poke it poke him today? Because if he does, he's
gonna swear it me and we travel together, so he'll
swear at me too. Yeah, it's true, but it's easy
for you to absorb it than me. Oh okay, why
don't your trash talk them? Don Why don't mister Stones?

(27:07):
Come on? I trash talked him one time already and
it didn't go well. What happened? He called me names? Okay,
Well then it went well, would you expect. That's how
trash talk works. They weren't the they weren't the nice names.
You know, tracks trash talk somebody and say, oh, he
didn't compliment me after I trash talked to him, But
they were the rude, like, get the f away from you,
a U fing a and goes work a series. Baby,

(27:29):
it's a big time. And he calls the Astros cheaters.
He never calls them just the Astros, he calls them
the cheating astros. Okay, he he's the worst part of America.
That's why to Toronto, we in North America are rooting
for North America's team. He needs to read Evandrelic's book
and read how they talked about the Dodgers cheating in
that book. Nobody wants to do that. Hello, nobody wants

(27:49):
to Look, it's so funny this this misinformation in the
in the in twenty twenty five, and see it's been
for years and people who just bury their heads in
the sand. And I think I will repeat this, you
know how we have the uh why what's his name?
Trevor Bauer should ever be here here? It is everybody cheated.

(28:10):
The Astros just got caught. They had a snitch, they
had a rat. They got caught and admitted it. Yeah,
other teams didn't get caught, certainly wouldn't have admitted it
and didn't have an inside guy like a rat like
Mike Fires. Mike Fires, and of course the players were
granted immunity. But anyways, not that we didn't keep this

(28:31):
on a record, That's what I'm saying. We could, we could.
You know, we're doing the best of the Matt Ross Show.
We can just play that over and over again. And
why Trevor Bauer, we got the best of We can't
do a best stop? Yeah, sure, sports can't be done
that way, although it has been week I know, but
that's not great. It's not the way you do it.
But we could, we could, actually, you know, if we
wanted to one day, I mean we really could. We

(28:53):
could do a three hour Evergreen, four hour recorded show
and just take ten since you and I've been together
for Fifth Team viewers, we could do. There are plenty
of things we can get to paying athletes and I
L and I L Barry Bonds and Hall of Fame,
gambling and old Barry Bonds in Hall of Fame, Roger
Clemens in Hall of Fame. Should Pete Rose get into
the Hall of Fame now that he's dead? We had

(29:14):
on when it's alive, but now he's dead, we got reinstated. Right,
He's not eligible for the Veterans Committee? Okay? Is Matt was?
Matt was not past that currenttents? Was Matt shobbing elite quarterback?
You know what's Evergreen is Joe Flacco and the le
local elite quarterback. Still I'm playing. He never would have
thought these things. Oh I got one of the cover
a whole hour. What do you do with the astrodome? Oh? God,

(29:39):
dismantle it. You can't blow it up because save this
for the Evergreen show. My friend, ye, that'd be I'd
be five seconds on that. Dismantle it. And you and
I are houstoniansur and through, and we agree on this Wait, correct,
you're not from Houston? You don't know? Like when I
came up with that video with oilers and people like,
you're not from here, bro, you don't know. I'm like
what people are so stupid? How do you come in

(30:04):
and tax somebody and say I'm not from here and
I've I've lived here my entire life except for six
years in Austin and I'm born in Houston, Texas. Dom asses. Sorry,
strangers on the internet the worst. Yeah, face to face,
they're not so brave. Well how do you how do
you type that out and hit post to somebody and
you don't know where they were born? Yeah? I was

(30:25):
born in Detroit. I moved here in nineteen seventy nine.
I yes from here from nineteen seventy nine to two thousand.
I guess it could be a Candian shut the border
down Detroit teams. Matt, you don't know seven. He's a
heat as they say. I wasn't born in Texas, but
I got here as fast as I could. One of
those guys I would go with the weather was warmer,

(30:48):
my mom got a good job here. Yeah, not mister Texas. No,
you know, you know why I am mister Texas because
one of the most Texas movies of all time is
Urban Cowboy, right, I mean you you when you think
of Texas and movies, you think of urban Cowboys. Okay.

(31:10):
My mom used to sell cigarette lighters in the machines
at Gillies and she was one of our places. She
had to stop. Gillies is Texas. She had a son
named me, Matt. M We live smoking sig We lived
off the big lighters that were sold at Gillies. That
makes us, mister, that makes us the Texas family. Okay, Matt,

(31:31):
you're the Texas family. Profit carpetbagger's coming down here and
profiting off the locals. And now I remember his son
is in a sales job. My oldest son who was
in a deaths over the last couple of days. You
know what he did yesterday? He took a picture of
Odessa Premier in high school. The most Texas of Texas
high schools, and the most Texas of Texas high schools
is all the mnimics. Now, that's the most prison esque

(31:52):
types of Texas. That's not true, that's the most That's
where the that's where the detectors came in first. For
anybody else shout out in Nimtz love y'all. Ten forty
three on The Matt Thomas Show Ross seven one three,
two one two five, seven ninety we're gonna go to
San Francisco coming up at eleven o'clock, and we're gonna
ask Greg Silver if canbr what Greg Silver? When's this

(32:15):
at eleven o'clock? Okay? I sent this out time on Sunday, Yes,
eleven o'clock Hawaiian. Oh way, yeah, I'm gonna be here. No,
I on't either, but I'm gonna talk to him at
eleven o'clock, et cetera. You can do what you want
to do. You work on believing or not if you
want to. How was Thecriraatic plan? Very often? I was
stunned when I asked you if we had ever done
a uh believe it or not in George Springer, and
we never did. I just did a quick search of

(32:37):
my Google drive and I didn't see it. So okay, Well,
I was pretty good. Oh you know what, we can
do a really fast version of it.

Speaker 7 (32:43):
It was.

Speaker 2 (32:44):
I was pretty impressed with it. Except seven one three,
two one two five seven ninety seven one three two
one two five seven eight you knew was impressed last night?
Who my daughter's the Kingwood volleyball team at Big City
Wings with it seven ninety. There's a Matt Thomas show
with Ross seven one three two one two five seven ninety.
If you want to chime into the conference station, step
it won three two one two five ninety. You see
Steph Curry hitting like a thirty five footter Dex sending

(33:06):
Warriors overtown last night. Beat the Nuggets. Didn't start to
the NBA season. It's been good. The script writers are
our own one. Uh NBC's double header, and I didn't
I didn't do the due diligence on them. Okay, so
I guess we should go. I need to go look
before I brag or go. Uh oh had five point
six million viewers for opening I think that's pretty good.

(33:28):
It sounds pretty good right now. It's never gonna hurt
the NBA. It's the NFL, I think would be your
NFL's like, we got to renegotiate. This sucks, you know,
but yeah, it sounds like to me, that's a pretty
good number for an NBA game on a Rando Tuesday night. Now. Granted,
they also did an amazing job of promoting it. They
were on the Today Show, they were on all the
NBC shows. Up eighty seven percent from last year, biggest

(33:50):
audience in more than ten years. So there you go.
A lot they've changed the way I don't know exactly
what Nielsen has done, but numbers are up kind of
across the board. Yeah, because they've changed the way that
they do. I think they they're integrating streaming numbers. So
when you're seeing that a lot, like every week, you're
like most in ten years, most in ten years, and

(34:12):
a lot of it's like, yeah, the last ten years
people have been streaming, and now they're counting streaming numbers,
I think, or something like that, right, right, but so
pretty good? Oh wow, this is the Lakers Warriors game
was was higher rated? Oh come on, I guess that
makes sense. But a that in a game BA late
at night? Hold on, I'm getting pop ups, forget it,

(34:36):
talk about Okay, we'll go to a phone call. Yeah, yeah,
the ratings were good, highest in ten years, basically, that's
what the headline says. So well, here's the thing with that.
The NBA frankly is going to be able to not
have to guess them anymore because don't. Don't Netflix, Well
it's not on Netflix, but does an Amazon Prime literally
contain the number of the house? I believe so because
these these ratings, and this is the same thing in

(34:57):
radio radio as it is intellivision. These are just estimates.
This is this is taking one person watching something and
giving them credit for a representation of fifteen, twenty, twenty
five thousand people, which isn't fair because that's that's a
lot of pressure to put on one person to tell
me what twenty thousand people are watching. When you're doing
the stuff on Netflix or Amazon or Paramount or what

(35:22):
else says Hulu or anything, they can exactly know how
many people are downloading a particular event, So that and
I guess they're counting those numbers now. Yeah, but there's
no rebates. The NBA is gonna has its money, and honestly,
they can tell you they care about the ratings. They
just don't mean they're already out the money. It's eleven

(35:42):
year deal, locked and loaded. You know, do you have this?
I kind of just have this sense that there was
a major, major gambling scandal that broke, and I just
don't know that it's gonna have much of any impact
on NBA ratings or am I off base on that.

(36:02):
I guess what time will tell. But I just feel
like in twenty twenty five, we're used to like some
crazy major scandal rocking the world like about every week,
and it's almost like and then we just move on.
I feel like if this happened in like like nineteen
ninety five, this would be on every news, it would
be on every everything, every newspaper, every magazine, every news item,

(36:26):
every everything. It was just everything we're looking at and consuming.
It would be talked about, and it would make you
feel sad about the integrity of the game. I I'm
just weirdly not feeling that. Let me tell you the
two reasons why I think you may not be off. One,
we're talking about two people out of a fraternity of
coaches and players that are active about Well, you've got

(36:48):
four hundred and fifty players, and you've got about two hundred.
You got about two hundred coach So six hundred and
fifty people, maybe seven hundred include trainers. Okay, so the
intimate basketball operations fraternity's about seven hundred people, Okay, not
number one and number two terros here, not a household
name true, Chauncey Billups preciated Chauncey Billups a bigger name,

(37:11):
but by no means household. Yeah, and he's coaching Jones
and Damon Jones Jonathan, and you heard of Damon Jones
before the scandal.

Speaker 11 (37:19):
After yesterday, I didn't know who Chancey Billups was.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
Or Damon Oh wow. So I was so, I was like,
I don't know these people with these kids today. But
I knew Taylor Rozier had some scandal because back in college,
everybody was like, he's throwing games like just parlay streets.
The Parlay streets were already talking about it. And that's
another thing. These people people have been calling out Chauncey
on like gambling Twitter for a couple of years. And

(37:45):
then I'm I told you we had that audio of
that guy that that professional poker player on the podcast
in twenty twenty three talking about in twenty nineteen, Chauncey
Billups is part of these sketchy poker games. So clearly
what happened was these names, his name got out there
on the social media streets and somebody at the FBI
said we need to do some investigating. Yeah, people, it
takes a long time. Just because you see something on

(38:06):
Twitter first fall doesn't mean it's accurate morn times and
that it's not. Yeah, but if you're the FBI and
you're going to go after somebody that's with an active
team and as a recognizable professional athlete, you got to
make sure you're all locked and loaded with all the
evidence and sounds like you Again, three or four year
investigations tend to do that normally. Dude, they think these
guys are going to jail for a while. I think

(38:29):
if you're the Hall of Fame, this is not the
NBA Hall of Fame, it's the Basketball Hall of Fame. Smith.
I think if you're the Hall of Fame, you you
you take him out of there. You can't have somebody
that is fixing games in the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 4 (38:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (38:42):
I guess it's just semantics, but I guess he was.
He he didn't fix the game, but he was giving
on information that he was going to sit players. So
insider and insider trade, Yeah what call? Yeah? Yeah, let's
uh talk to Gil on seven nine. You get to
ten fifty five before we go to San Francisco. Hello, Gil, Hey,
what's who?

Speaker 10 (39:02):
Which one is? You all have mister Texan.

Speaker 2 (39:04):
I'm Matt, I'm mister Texas. Okay, he's not mister Texas.
He's the worst mister Texas.

Speaker 12 (39:10):
Well.

Speaker 10 (39:10):
A little while are talking about Pasadena. So there's a
little place that me and my cousin used to frequent
right down the street. Uh a drive in. Do you
remember that, mister Texas.

Speaker 2 (39:23):
Uh, I was too young. I was. I was junior Texas,
but I was not driving with my mom to Gillies
back then, So I was I was a little boy
Texas at that point.

Speaker 10 (39:32):
Oh, so you don't remember the drive in that people
would have rex on the freeway taking a right look
or a left look.

Speaker 2 (39:41):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 10 (39:42):
The Red Bluff drive in.

Speaker 2 (39:44):
Nope, I mean it sounds like the hold on, hold on.
It sounds like the tend of your voice of seeing
they were ced behavior over there? Is that? Is that
fair to.

Speaker 10 (39:51):
Say a little bit, a little bit with a girl?

Speaker 2 (39:56):
Yes?

Speaker 7 (39:56):
What's that?

Speaker 2 (39:57):
You went with a girl?

Speaker 10 (39:57):
Or or the bunch of guys and a lot two
or three will be in the trunk because they were
going to being there.

Speaker 2 (40:06):
You'd sneak people into the drive in.

Speaker 10 (40:09):
Yeah, red Bluff x rayed.

Speaker 2 (40:13):
There's an x rayed drive in.

Speaker 10 (40:15):
Absolutely, red Bluff drive in.

Speaker 2 (40:18):
Yeah, that seems like a hazard's called. Now, Gail, how old?
How old were you, Gill? How old were you Gill?

Speaker 7 (40:24):
When you were sixty four? Now?

Speaker 10 (40:26):
I was probably eighteen.

Speaker 2 (40:29):
I was old enough.

Speaker 10 (40:29):
But a few of my cousin works and we would
just hit hide them in the You.

Speaker 2 (40:33):
Are an eighteen year old looking at pornographic material. How
shameful is that? Yep?

Speaker 8 (40:37):
Yep?

Speaker 10 (40:39):
In Pasadena? Yep, red Bluff driving. You never heard of that?

Speaker 2 (40:43):
No, sir, I never have it, never will. Nope, mister
Texas was only walking down the narrow roads of freedom
and good choices. That sounds fair. The red Bluff X
rayed driving sounds like a very Pasadena thing, it does.
Thank you Gil for the phone call, he said, A
group of guys go to I don't know, it's a
different time.

Speaker 3 (41:06):
I've got.

Speaker 13 (41:08):
A break.

Speaker 2 (41:08):
Yeah, I guess it will not be an advantageous to me.
What I would say? How do you feel about sweet tea?
I don't like it? Okay, why did you ask ductor pepper? Nope,
that's going to break You're right. Look, you're not, mister Texas,
just because you don't you didn't go to the Red

(41:28):
Bluff to watch porn on the on the on the
first of all, you didn't even go to the Red
Bluff porn with you and the boys. I don't know
if twenty year olds will be said, hey guy, what
are on tonight? Let's go watch some porn and a
drive in. I don't know if that's the probably dudes
were well him and Gill and his Broskies were doing it.
Hit him in the trunk, like, what's that knocking on

(41:49):
the trunk? It's not his legs or his arms. Greig
Silver can be al Radio San Francisco. Next on seven
ninety is.

Speaker 1 (42:09):
The Mac Thomas Show with Ross.

Speaker 2 (42:16):
And then goes. Friday continues on Sports Talk seven ninety. Please,
I love all of you that listen to the show,
but I don't need to know if you went to
the Red Bluff drive in or not. I'm getting tweets
in that. Yeah, I was there when I was a kid,
and I don't care what you did there. I don't
care who you went with. I don't care what you
did when you were there before you were stun stuck
in the trunk or not who you went with you. Yeah,

(42:38):
I mean if you went with a girl. I mean,
that's good for you. But all right, it's kind of
kind of being forward for that first date. Right, let's
snap out of this. I'm gonna get it back to
Sports one half of the morning a midday show on
k NBR, the Sports Leader the leg legendary station six

(42:59):
p' eighty in San Francisco as Greg Silver. Uh. Greg
would call me Rossi when the Rockets and Warriors were
playing all the time, So I thought it was only
fair that Greg came on the show today. It's beautiful,
the nice symbiosis. Yes, we are the bay we are
the ba arias sports Leader in the Houston Sports Leader.
All on one Greg, how are things. Hey, good to
talk to you guys.

Speaker 5 (43:18):
And yeah, I certainly am overdue for this home and
home So I'm glad we get to chop it up
about the Texans, the Rockets, and any other intersection between
Bay Area and Houston.

Speaker 2 (43:28):
Yeah, real quick, forget the Niners. Uh. What is the
reaction of Tony DeVito as the Giants new manager. I'm
just curious. Vittello. Is he one of the crime family
members of the Tony Tony Miello? Tell me about him?
What do you like? What do you like.

Speaker 5 (43:46):
Yeah. Interestingly enough, we actually had Tony Battello on with
us in the middle of July just because the Giants
had drafted Gavin keel And as the first round pick.
And this was even before Drew Gilbert and Blake Tidwell
other former Tennessee volunteers came over to the organization at
the trade deadline, so there's a little bit of a
slower time a year. We're looking for ways to shake
up the content and Tony was gracious enough to give

(44:08):
us fifteen minutes of his time, and I loved it.
I mean, you could see the energy, the passion the
baseball IQ and it is certainly a massive swing and
a roll of the dice by Buster Posey. Now, I
think it's fair to acknowledge that maybe not everybody gets
the leisure in the leeway of getting to roll the

(44:29):
dice like this. But if you're Buster Posey and you're
a three time champion with San Francisco and now you're
taking over as president of the baseball operations, I didn't
expect the first year and a month to be this
active for his tenure on the job. But here he
is hiring a coach who has no prior major league
managing experience coming from the college level. He made a

(44:51):
massive trade to get Rafael Devers and take on all
of that salary as well. So, I mean, now that
we've got the Dodgers in the World Series tonight, I
think it's pretty clear that Buster Posey hates losing. He
wants to do what he can to turn the Giants
back into a contender and the type of team that
he won three World Series with, but Lee doing it
in a very very different way. And I'm really excited

(45:14):
for what it brings because I think at the very least,
it's gonna be a fascinating story to follow. But yeah,
there's no question that this is a major risk here
for the Giants.

Speaker 2 (45:22):
And is Verlinder coming back, by the way in twenty
twenty six, do you know?

Speaker 5 (45:27):
I don't know for sure, I would venture to guess not.
I mean, you know, I think the way he pitched
in the second half, he's probably gonna get a deal,
maybe a multi year deal elsewhere. He'll probably want to
be a little bit closer to home. And as we
sort of half jokingly said too on the station, look,
Verlander was probably due for a lot more wins and

(45:48):
for a lot more help on the starts he had,
and in the second half of the year it picked
it up a little bit, but he got a lot
of bad luck here too, So no. On top of that,
I'll also just throw in that Tony Vaitello his most
successful pupil back when he was on the staff of
Missouri is Max Schurzer. So I think we're all expecting
somebody like Max Schurzer, depending on what happens here in

(46:09):
the World Series, to maybecome untill that Erlander void in
San Francisco.

Speaker 2 (46:13):
That makes a lot of sense. Greg Silver canb are
in San Francisco joining us here on the Matt Thomas Show.
At Ross all right, look, Ross and I my partner.
We always argue about Vegas and how it's only a metric,
but it's not the most important metric, as Vegas can
be wrong just as much as they can be right.
We are still stunned, and I don't mean to go
to this Vegas card here, but the Texans are favored.

(46:34):
How in the hell are they favored? Is it because
Mac Jones was so porous last week against the Falcons.
Explain to me why you think that those folks that
do watch these things very closely. Have the Texans as
a small favorite, especially because of the fact that Texans
have many of their offensive threats unavailable to them. There's
no ground game to speak of. And oh, by the way,
out a short week, they got beat up in Seattle

(46:55):
last Monday night.

Speaker 5 (46:58):
It's a great question. I was stunned to see the
Lion as well. But what I will say is that
as frustrating as it's looked for the Texans this year,
and particularly on the offensive side of the ball, and
now maybe not having Nico Collins, I don't know if
there's an official ruling, but.

Speaker 9 (47:11):
I know he hasn't practiced in the last two days.

Speaker 5 (47:14):
I would just say that even though it's a cross
conference matchup, you can make the case that this is
a little bit more similar to a povision type of game,
just because of the familiarity between these coaching staffs. Now,
Robert Sala originally was the defensive coordinator when Shanahan came
over here in twenty seventeen. Then he went off to
be the head coach of the Jets. To meet goo

(47:35):
Ryans fills in does a fantastic job. He earns this
opportunity in Houston, and so Shanahan is seeing one of
his old assistants. Now, Shanahan, when it comes to his
old assistance, he hasn't had a ton of experience with
it as a head coach, but I would venture to
think that he still probably has the coaching advantage in this.
So maybe it's got to be something to do with

(47:57):
a lot of the injuries the forty nine ers are
faith I mean, if we're just speaking about it logically,
logic shouldn't be a five to two team here in
San Francisco with the injuries to Brock Proty, Fred Warner,
Nick both, Ricky Piersoll now missing time, Brandon Iuk has
not played a snap, George Kittle just came back after
missing essentially the whole season minus a quarter and a

(48:18):
half leading into Sunday Night football. So I think with
San Francisco, maybe there's a thought that kind of like
we saw with Tampa Bay, at some point it just
catches up to you. But I do expect this to
be a fairly low scoring game.

Speaker 2 (48:30):
So I don't know.

Speaker 5 (48:31):
About the spread in terms of the Texans being favored,
but I feel pretty comfortable with an underplay here.

Speaker 2 (48:38):
Ross with you here as well. Greg, and you mentioned
all the injuries that are piled up, and then we
talked about Mac Jones as well. How do you assess
him the last couple of weeks hasn't been as good,
just as at least numbers wise, looked really good earlier
on in the season. What do you think about the
way that he's played. Is it the book has gotten
out on him and how they want to run the
offense with Mac Jones in San Francisco or do you

(48:59):
think it's just a bad couple of games that he
can bounce back this week?

Speaker 5 (49:03):
I think Max has been spectacular for the most part. Again,
they're not five and two without having two capable quarterbacks
to run this team. And as far as Jones and
the numbers, I mean this last week, guys, this was
the first time the forty nine ers were able to
run the ball effectively. And they got Christian McCaffrey on
this team, and even well before Christian McCaffrey, that's always
been the cornerstone of the Kyle Shanahan offense is that, hey,

(49:25):
at the very least they're going to be able to
run the football effectively. So it was a really strange
sight to see for a good six weeks where the
Niners just couldn't find a way to crack the run game.
Kittle comes back and mac Jones just didn't have to
do as much this last week. As far as the
other games, I think he's been getting beat up a
little bit too much, and both Purdy and Jones have

(49:46):
been getting hit way too much when they've been on
the field, so the offensive line has been a little
bit shaky. I do worry about Will Anderson, Danil Hunter
and this Texans defense that they got to go against
because Mac Jones, for the first time this US week,
finally seemed to have a game to where he didn't
sustain any new injury or find himself not really mobile

(50:08):
at the end of the game, when by the way
to begin, he's not the most mobile quarterback in the
first place. So I think Mac, as long as he
can stay upright, goes a long way in terms of
the trust with Kyle Fanahan being able to run the
offenses to get reinforcements. But as far as mac Jones,
it's not to me as much about the numbers as
it is being able to protect him and keep him

(50:28):
on his feet, because that's exactly what they did against Atlanta,
and he had his easiest outing by far.

Speaker 2 (50:35):
And you mentioned all the defensive injuries that are piled up,
but only ten points surrendered to the Falcons. Have you seen,
Robert sala Is there any sort of changing in philosophy,
maybe blitzing more, mixing things up or or how are
you seeing and how does the defense continue to win
this way?

Speaker 5 (50:50):
It's a great question because I think we're asking ourselves
the same thing every time we watch this unit play.
But they're certainly blitting more because when you have Nick Bosa,
you have the luxury of being able to generate pressure
without having the blitz. When Nick Bosa was healthy, this
team really has never been much of a blitzing team.
So that right there changes it up in a lot
of ways. And then Fred Warner, I mean, for all

(51:12):
the injuries that the forty nine ers have had over
the last five six years, and looking at the stats
of most injured teams in the league, Fred Warner was
still that one constant. He'd only missed one of his
one hundred and twenty two starts prior to that ankle
injury he suffered in Tampa Bay, which ended his season.
So Tatum Bethun did a great job stepping in at

(51:33):
the mike linebacker position. You might see a little bit
of Curtis Robinson take on that role. He also is
just coming back from a torn acl So it's a
lot of new faces and they got young guys that
are coached up. They've got good energy. Chase Lucas is
another corner who spent some time with the Lions. He
was on the forty nine ers practice squad and he

(51:53):
was sort of their preseason hero. He made this incredible
fourth down breakup play to get in front of the
ball and under cut one that was intended for Drake London.
So yeah, anytime you have the defense that's this young,
it's a bit of a wild card. I know that
Houston's offense has really struggled for the most part this year,
but no, Robert Sala has done a terrific job. He's

(52:13):
obviously got the comfort in the chemistry with Shanahan. But
I really do feel like every week is kind of
its own adventure, because, yeah, you held that Atlanta offense
and all those top ten picks in that talent to
ten points, but every single week presents a new challenge
and These are guys that are not only learning how
to keep up physically, but also all the mental edges
of the game. And that's where I think Robert Sala

(52:36):
Gus Bradley in this defensive staff has been irreplaceable, all right.

Speaker 2 (52:39):
So to put things in perspective, to wrap up our
conversation here with Greg Silver at camb are starting quarterback
for the Sunday Woman mac Jones. Is that correct? I
believe so.

Speaker 5 (52:50):
I haven't seen an official designation on Braka, but I
just got into the studio and I think it's very
likely that we're going to see mac joseph sixth time.

Speaker 2 (52:57):
Yeah, Okay, Now, Christian mcac yeffort, we've have certainly appreciated
him from AFAR. A lot of us have him been
Fantasy football. The number one thing about him is when
he's on the field, he's dangerous as a runner. He's
been an excellent pass catcher out of the backfield, but
attendance is part of the grade. Does that always scare
Niner fans about really wanting to make a deep run
knowing that McCaffrey's had these injury bug hits about once

(53:20):
per year.

Speaker 5 (53:22):
Oh one hundred percent. Matt I mean, this is where
the forty nine ers. When we had all these conversations
obvious leading up to the season, we're getting ready for football.
This was a team we knew was going to rely
on youth, and a lot of these draft picks also
had so much invested in their top seven eight players.
And now I've seen a couple of these guys go down.

(53:44):
But all the while, before they'd even played a snap,
it said repeatedly over the air, the most irreplaceable piece
on this team is number twenty three. It is Christian McCaffrey.
And losing Fred Warner hurts in a major way. Losing
Nick Bosa hurts in a major away. But McCaffrey, as
long as he's out there and available, it's been able

(54:04):
to provide some coverage in the receiving game. It's been
able to get you that extra couple of yards even
when the team is not running the ball that well.
So yeah, this team is gonna go as far as
Christian McCaffrey could take him. And that was the case
with or without all these injuries they've suffered. Now, it
certainly hurts to lose some of these other top guys,
but I will always stand by that the most irreplaceable

(54:27):
team number one, sorry, most irreplaceable player on the team
number one is Christian McCaffrey, and so if he has
even a slight injury, all of a sudden, the narrative
completely flips out at sack of San Francisco.

Speaker 2 (54:41):
Well, that will let you go. I saw Steph Curry
last night. I hit a long range bomb. So Warriors
off to a great start. Congratulations on that. Really happy
for you. Jeez, Jesus, why did you bring that up?

Speaker 3 (54:53):
One?

Speaker 2 (54:53):
Are the Warriors gonna get old and get go out
to pasture? For the love of God, Please, it's my time, Greg,
It's my time, not yours.

Speaker 5 (55:01):
I mean, I was there last night in the building,
and that felt like the opposite of many times that
the Warriors have faced Denver, where the Warriors seem to
have a lot of control in the fourth quarter and
then Jokich and Denver kind of hang around and end
up doing just enough to take it in regulation or
force overtime. But no, he is the greatest showman in
all of sports. He's an alien, and all I would

(55:24):
say to people out here on the West Coast is
to never atver take watching him for granted. Because I
can understand why anybody else is driven crazy by it.
I don't even understand it. I can't put it into words.
But doesn't mean we get tired of watching it.

Speaker 2 (55:37):
Yeah, yeah, all right, Greg, thank you for the time.
As always, you know where to find me. I appreciate
your conversation, great guest, and we hope to catch up
with you down the road front. Thank you absolutely, Matt,
thank you. We'll see let Greg Silver k NBR Radio.
Did you see the shot last night for Steph? Yeah?
I mean, Jesus, he's the greatest shooter ever walked the planet.
I mean all he does is I'll chuck it up

(55:59):
for my midsection, I'll close my eyes, I'll say a
small prayer, I'll turn around and make the shot, and
nineteen thousand people lose their damn minds. Unreal hand eye
coordination and strength. Thousands and thousands of jump shots he
puts up every year and he still makes them. And
he's a great golfer too. He's just got hand eye coordinator.

(56:20):
He's blessed. Very happy for him. By the way, y'all
need to stop sending me captions of what was at
the Red Bluff back in the day. I didn't even
know by That's why, I mean, I really didn't know
about it. Why are you winking? By the way, I
have a friend of ours that listens to the show online.
I will not mention who it is and says the following, Okay,

(56:43):
I can verify the Red Bluff drive in My parents
always visited an uncle in Houston, and we passed by
once a week. For some reason, I was always attentive
and looking out the windows near the intersection. I was
about ten years old. HM, Okay, have you ever seen
porn on a drive in? No? What kind of question
is that? All you gotta say is no? I say no, John,

(57:06):
that you never been no driving? Have you at all?

Speaker 7 (57:07):
That?

Speaker 3 (57:08):
Never?

Speaker 2 (57:09):
Yeah, I would assume that porn would not be the
category'd go to choose. You just go to the driving.
Back in the day, I was a driving guy by
five in like kind of west road, and then they
tore it down and made a Builder square, made Builder square,
rest in peace. That's many companies out to Mo's. Yeah, uh,
I asked, Ron said question. I'm by no means asking

(57:31):
you that question, so do not call in with your
Remember I remember being a kid and going there and
she took me in the you know you were you
got to take your your young ones to the women's bathroom.
I was mad. I was like, I don't want to
go to the women's bathroom. The first driving movie I
remember ever seeing it was in Detroit. Got to be
about nineteen seventy six or seventy seven. I thought I
saw Freaky Friday with Jody Foster, who was a kid.

(57:53):
Uh huh, that's all I remember. Okay, I remember the
cartoon captions come to come to the snack bar to
get cocin and popular. Let's go out of the move
the lobby. That's what it is, right, get ourselves a treat.
I've been sa driving a movie theater. I think it's
about driving with you know, like he's with what seven
one three two one two? Files are tougher. You didn't

(58:15):
have everything at your fingertips. Now you got the you
get the phone and other things at your fingertips. Okay,
uh seven one three two one two five seven, And
we'll try to get back on the clock and figure
out what the hell this show is gonna do between now.
Oh yeah, I'm sorry, it's coming up. You know, I'm
gonna should I should apologize for accepting that call about
the rest, you apologize for being off the clock, Mike,
I'm way off the clock eleven nineteen and seven ninety all.

Speaker 7 (58:37):
Right, I'm sorry.

Speaker 2 (58:38):
They're coming up in about ten minutes from now on
the Sports Talk seven ninety seven one three two one
two five seven ninety seven one three two one two
five seven nine zero ross uh. Instagram, I am fifteen
away from the magical. Now here's the thing. If I
get to three thousand in the next day or so,
we'll have a party. Where are we going? I can't

(59:02):
can't create a party unless there was a reason to celebrate. Okay,
so let's do this, everybody. Let's let's do this. Let's
do Let's get me to three thousand right now, everybody,
get to your Instagram accounts right now. At sports empty
I mean fifteen really nice peoples, fifteen nice people to

(59:25):
say you'll follow them back? You them today. It can
happen today. You know what, I will follow you back
at sports RV. If you want to follow me at
sports RV. You know I've been meaning to post. I
haven't even posted my big beIN pictures, post my big
beIN pictures today. Wait a minute.

Speaker 13 (59:40):
You know I.

Speaker 2 (59:42):
She was like two months ago. Wait, you are so late.
I've been dosing them out slowly. Slowly is an understatement.

Speaker 4 (59:48):
You know what.

Speaker 2 (59:48):
I'm a new ross. I'm gonna take a picture. I'm
gonna fit those pictures. If I follow you back at
sports RV and I also ran into a bear, I'll
be posting those today. Yeah, I'm photos. I'm gonna put
up pictures on my kids were born. You want to
see a greasy newborns, No, like when they were one
month or two month old. Make camrage only twenty five. Okay.

(01:00:08):
If you want shriveled up, greasy newborns, go to sports MT.
That's ridiculous. If you want one of the most beautiful
play places on the planet and a black bear encounter
at sports RV and I will follow you back. Matt
doesn't follow you back, That's not exactly true. That's not
always true. I will fall back, yeah some of you. Well,
I mean I can't follow everybody. Okay, I'm just saying

(01:00:30):
I will because I'm a man of the people. Yeah,
I know. You know what people do is you say
they follow them back, and then they unfollow you because
they look at you and it's kind of boring. All right,
let's get back to sports. That's true. I got to go.
I gotta unfollow them sports, sports and more sports. Sure,
why not? All right?

Speaker 14 (01:00:43):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (01:00:43):
You watch in the Minnesota Chargers game last night, a
very little Yeah Herbert three touchdown passes, I think yesterday
that was good for them. Quentin Johnson zero catches's great.
Let me Tenan Allen the new squad for me either,
So don't worry. Doctor Rodal was gonna join us at
one that they're looking forward to that. Oh what else
NBA from last night? Oklahoma City's off to Atuno. So

(01:01:05):
they won. They you know, they rematched the finals game
in game two of the season. That's kind of weird
to do it so early. And a lot of it
is because Indiana's just not the same team without Tyrese Haliburton.
And yeah, and I want to say shake gilges Alexander.
He had forty free throw attempts in the first two games,
which is an NBA record. It's sickening because you know

(01:01:26):
what it is, you know it's coming, and you can't
stop it. He had fifty five twenty three to twenty
six from the free throw line. And I want to say.
It's a second straight game that he didn't do squat
in the first half and exploded in the second half. Yeah,
they also went to double overtime, which I think they
said that was a record too. I think ye starting

(01:01:47):
the season with two double overtimes. Hopefully they're super tired
and won't win any more games. I don't think that's
going to happen. Rockets tonight against the Detroit Pistons. The
Pistons lost to the Chicago Bulls couple nights back, auser
versus amen and the twin versus twin match up. To
think I'll switch jerseys, not tell anybody. Haven't they already
done so? And the NBA probably not. What if they

(01:02:08):
change bodies? What like Freaky Friday? They like flip them?
What do you mean like Oucer is a man for
one night? They just say, hey, let's do something fun.
Let's just what I was saying. Yeah, No, I'm just
trying to back out what you were saying. Yeah, I
heard you. No, I don't think you did.

Speaker 8 (01:02:28):
I did.

Speaker 7 (01:02:29):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:02:31):
They shouldn't do that because I'm not going to. I
don't know Acer at all. I know man, A man's
a sweet kid who if you you get sideways with him,
he will throw you. He's like sweet and sour. He'll
hiptosh you. Yeah, he's savory and sweet. He's a savory Yeah,
like you get the peanuts and the m and ms
mixed together and the raisins savory and sweet. He's like

(01:02:53):
a He's like a box of m and ms. You
never know what you're gonna get. Are you hungry? I
haven't got a hungry Actually like this guy. Yeah, you
know what that's A man is A man is a
is a high end trail mix. Okay, we'll go run
that nickname by him. Tom. That's not gonna work at all. Yes,
it's not gonna work at all. I'm still going with
the Boogeyman. I like it. I'm gonna be pushing that narrative.
What you know, what you can do? You can actually

(01:03:13):
go talk to him about this. I know I meant to,
but I forgot. We had him in front of us. Yeah,
but you can tonight. Well you well, you can actually
talk to him before the game if you wanted to
go in the locker room, say hey, I'm Rassman. We
talked before. I want to call you the Boogeyman. See
how it goes. Okay, he's he's such a nice he's
not such a nice kid. He will not be rude
to you back. That doesn't fly. I just make coach
by fifty five to fifteen. I'll be all right. I'll

(01:03:34):
see you then. Okay, six point thirty broadcast time here
on seven ninety and actually six o'clock with you, yeah,
six thirty in the network, and then seven o'clock with
the game call. So why normally sit next to you
during that? Well one seed apart, you can sit next
to me if you want to. The Lakers are in town,
then we got to be next to each other because
the place is full. All right. Now it's time for

(01:03:55):
you to apologize as to people. Oh crud already issued
my apologies for the week, though it's good to repeat
him sometimes if you want to say sorry, if there's
something you've said or done and I'm looking at you,
Rosfield Ryal seven one three two one two five seven
Nati seven one three two one two five seven Nati
time to apologize next here on Sports Talk seven ninety.

(01:04:19):
This is the most cathartic thirty minutes of the week.
All the things you said are nasty, and mean you
get to do this right now, call us and say
these beautiful words.

Speaker 6 (01:04:31):
I'm sorry, so sorry.

Speaker 2 (01:04:42):
No other radio show in the marketplace cares that you've
got a lot of weight on your shoulders. Nobody, you
know what, A lot of other stations in town want
to get into whether or not Alsi's auscheer is going
to be a good covered linebacker. And we can do
that too, But for four hours today, we're twenty hours
a week, and we know the answer that is not.
He just gets late hits all the time. He gets
fined thirteen fourteen thousand dollars in the NFL for rando hits.

(01:05:04):
Hey the whistled and blown according to the disease I'll
share ere. Yeah. And by the way, Sam Darnold was
a runner in that play. No Sam, how SHEESU is
going to get more penalties and more fines based of reputation.
He was bs, he's he's he's got that wrap. Tim
Settle shouldn't have been flagged either, Tim Settle, that was
a terrible call. So you know what, NFL you need

(01:05:25):
to apologize at Tim Settle and say you're sorry. You
should an so sorry.

Speaker 12 (01:05:33):
Damn.

Speaker 2 (01:05:35):
I'm sure there you go. You should be uh Kymie fairbairn.
You old the city of Houston and you're coaching staff
an apology. Your coach told you to kick the ball
out of bounds or kick it way in the back
of the end zone, not kicking so they so the
Seahawks can return and burn six seconds off the clock.
Say you're sorry. Has Kay spoken about that? Yes he has,

(01:05:55):
he said, Okay, he said he said he was told
to do so and did not correct. He's can I execute?
So he said he was sorry, So he you know,
he's good with that. I was wondering about that. I
wonder if he was gonna be like no, and he
told me that if if he had just said, the
planet knew it though, I mean, we're all sitting on
our couches like they got to kick this out abount. Well,
dan Orlovski was losing his damn mind. Did you like

(01:06:16):
I love Danie?

Speaker 4 (01:06:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:06:18):
I thought Louis good. I thought he and Lewis Ridick
were both good. Like he could call him lou That's
when you're a good friend. We can call somebody Lewis
lou Lin Riddick. Yeah, because I think most people when
they want to go with their full name. That's for
there's for a reason, sweet Lou. Not everybody has to
be sweet Lou. Why not? I just don't think it
fits every single time. It's not sweet Lewis Riddick. It's

(01:06:40):
Lewis Riddick, sweet Lou rawls. Okay, sorry, he wants to
be he He's not Lou. If Louis Verdick came in
the studio, sat down with us and we'd say, hey, Lou,
what's going on? And we would say Lewis s nance
heavy on the show, I would say, mister Ritick, that's true.
Was Lewis Ridick a guy wanted to be the gem
of the Texans? Was that was he that? I think

(01:07:00):
he might have been one of the candidates, or he
was he in Pittsburgh or something, or I think it
was us. I think he wanted at least an opportunity
to talk to him about And I said, no, Hannah's like,
now we got this guy Cassero because we love the
New England Ties. Seriously, we've got Remember we used to
go get Colorado State coaches and players the Texans day

(01:07:21):
with all the kooby Aks. Remember there was always it
was always a Kobiak or or a Colorado State player
involved for sure. And now we've got this insatiable thirst
for mid level small Division three schools. General John Carroll,
I want it whereas John Carrow is it Is it
in the Boston Northeast? I thought, yeah, you know how
to do next time I go to see if my
daughter goes to college. When she goes to college, I'll

(01:07:42):
go to John Carroll take some pictures. I'm sorry. It's
in Ohio, same difference, so you know why it's It's
because they were there for training. You remember they went
to play the Cleveland Browns or something else outside of Cleveland. Okay, whatever,
it's goofing up the organization. Oh, it's right next to
Ben and Jerry's John carroll is. I'm sure there's a
food court right close to it, right all right? Seven

(01:08:06):
one three two seven one three. Jonathan Wan, you don't
need to apologize for this week. You know, I'm thinking,
look at it, you're looky what look at a good week?
I don't know. You got nothing to nobody. You didn't
cut anybody off, no getting angry. I you can snap.
You got a temper on you. I've been I've been
a good driver. You know that's good that you know,
we don't have to be apologetic for something every single

(01:08:28):
week and before it if that, if we're sorry for
everything every once a week, then we got to roll.
We got a lot of problems in our life. Maybe
sorry for the scam callers I blocked today, I don't
know on that one. I'll come back to you what
you got this week. Uh, I'm sorry for advocating as
much as I did for legalized gambling. It's not working

(01:08:51):
on I mean, I honestly didn't think there were gonna
be some ish big issues. I don't know, I was stupid.
Every by the way on their national podcasts and radio
shows are presuming this is only gonna get worse for
it gets better. You are you in that grade? I
think I would disagree. And also another thing, people want

(01:09:11):
props off the board now, and I'm like, well, because
the props were on the board, that's how they caught
these guys. So if you keep the props on the board,
then you can it's it's easier to monitor correct or
no wall, you can just to eliminate them all together. Yeah,
say that's what people want. If you eliminate them all together,
then you're gonna be manipulating spreads, and that's maybe harder

(01:09:31):
to catch somebody. It's easy to catch Terry rose Ear
when there's two hundred thousand dollars of extra activity on
Terry Rosier props. Yeah, so I don't know, Well, the
bare minimum you're gonna see even you can't spend a
lot of money in these props to begin with. I
just wanted it legalized. So if I wanted to put
twenty bucks on the spread because I feel like it,
I should be able to do that. But this advertising

(01:09:55):
with the sports books on every little bit of every
little bit of a sports broadcast and the pre games
and the halftimes and all that type of stuff, it's
it's crazy. Well that I want you to go to
those television networks and tell them to turn their advertising
money down. They're not going to. Then you're spending years
code nine to eighty seven when you sign up for
DraftKings Pick six, But always gamble responsibly. That's all I'm saying.

(01:10:17):
And as we said before, when we speak to you
about these, because we have a little variety of advertisers
do it. We're doing it because you guys are just
want to have a little bit of fun, and we're
not doing it because you're trying to create an income
over I load up a few bucks on DraftKings Pick six,
and I put a couple things together and it makes
the games more interesting. That's that's all I'm doing. That's
all I want you to do. Have some fun, yes,

(01:10:37):
and not compromise the sport on which you work in correct,
even to give insider information, even if we were all
whack jobs in terms of spending crazy money, we don't
work through I mean, I worked directly for the NBA,
so if I was doing it, there'd be an issue.
Because I'm I'm going to be I'm going to have
some availability of some information that the general public is
not going to have. I've known about injuries before. You

(01:10:58):
guys have known about it, but I can't say anything
about it. Oh, by the way, did you see this
what a halftime show tell me for the Rockets and
Pistons tonight? Can man? I guess sure, Paul Wall it's
Paul Wall. I saw it on Twitter last night. Actually
I got it. I'm sorry. I just thought of it.
I want to say I'm sorry. Tell my mom. Okay,

(01:11:18):
when I came back to Dallas.

Speaker 1 (01:11:21):
Uh.

Speaker 11 (01:11:21):
She always tells me, okay, text me when you get home,
because he doesn't. I got back and I just started
doing laundry. I started cleaning up, and I just get
a phone class seven thirty FaceTime and she's just staring.

Speaker 2 (01:11:36):
She face timed you too, with a stare. Didn't say
a word. It's like a good one minute stare and
she's looking. I'm just saying, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, and
then you talk about the phone. So, uh, yeah, I'm sorry.
I got home safe. I just you know, I let
your mom. I thought you were asking for gas money
or something. I don't know. Uh, you know what, I've
never facetimed my parents ever. Have you you're doing my mom?

(01:12:00):
I'm out my dad he doesn't have he's got Android. No. No,
I've never I FaceTime my wife and my kids. That's it.
Never my never, my my mother. Okay, she got an iPhone. Yeah,
what's your facetimer? I probably should. It's good. Well see
at a little boy's face. You know, we'll see the
young lad Tom and downtown. Who are you apologizing to?

Speaker 7 (01:12:23):
All right, I'm apologizing to the girlfriend.

Speaker 13 (01:12:26):
Uh.

Speaker 7 (01:12:26):
We were talking on the phone and I was like
real short.

Speaker 2 (01:12:29):
To get off the phone so I could watch the rocket.

Speaker 5 (01:12:31):
Finish up their there you know, there the game against
Oklahoma City, not realizing we're.

Speaker 10 (01:12:38):
About to go to two overtimes.

Speaker 7 (01:12:45):
Tom.

Speaker 2 (01:12:46):
We've met what a couple of times over the years? Correct?

Speaker 8 (01:12:49):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (01:12:49):
Yeah, yours always involved women, and I don't know what's
going on if I should congratulate you or feel sorry
for you because your conundrums in life have usually been
around the opposite sex. Do you care to explain? You know,
dating is difficult, that's all. At least you put yourself

(01:13:13):
out there, Tom, scaring up something I don't. Again to Tom,
thanks for the phone call. Tom may have like a
secret life. It's good life, because again, every time he
tells us something it's involving a relationships. It's not good.
Maybe he wants to settle down, you know, Matt, So
I was playing in the field, run around and get tired,

(01:13:35):
go to church thing, meet the girl there? No, is
that a no from you? And I'm just saying the
crazy ones that at church too? Oh? Are there really? Okay? Yeah?
The one that sometimes with the craziest ones. It's true.
I've heard the guy when I was in my twenties
before I met Kim. The craziest parting I ever did

(01:13:58):
as a young adult was with a son. It was
with the son of a preacher. Mm hmm. And I
told some people about him and they're like, yeah, Typically
preacher's kids are the craziest because they have been not
initially sheltered, but have been contained for much of their
young life that once they become adults they can go
out and experience things. The greatest thing this guy ever day,

(01:14:20):
May he rest in peace, is he flipped somebody on
the road we were going to We went to Fort
to the Houston, Texans. He flip somebody's car. No, he
flipped a girl. She was lesbian. When she got to
the restaurant, she turned, he turned her straight. I was impressed.

(01:14:42):
Can't move sorry, And I mean we knew she was
lesbian because she was with her girl and there was
a lot of holding of hands and whatnot. And then
five or six beers later, also, oh yeah, in Fort Lauderdale,

(01:15:04):
when was this gotta be ninety three ninety four? Orders
are still around. I told you by young rabbl rousing
Matt Thomas, WHOA, I didn't do it, he did it.
You were involved though, definitely I witnessed it, but I
was in prout like he's a witness. Just no, just
the relationship developing, not the actual. But he's like, I'm

(01:15:27):
gonna flip that. I'm like what he did. H. I
don't know how the other girl felt about it, but
she didn't go home with the girl she came with.
She went home with my buddy.

Speaker 15 (01:15:40):
Hm.

Speaker 2 (01:15:42):
Wow, that's Matt's story time for now. Thank you. Matt
eleven forty three on Sports Talk seven ninety. We're gonna
wake the strippers up in about ten minutes. We have
the news at noon coming up. We got a Rockets
opener tonight. Yeah, if you all go in the game,
then I would you please get there at seven or

(01:16:02):
no later than that. It's all I'm asking. You can't
ask all you want Katie's debut, come on home debut
at least? Yes, I wouldn't hold my breath. Okay, I
want you to text me at about seven to ten
when the games will stip off in. Okay, let's I
want you to have your first I'll have the same perspective.

(01:16:25):
But we gotta makeure we're gonna match. We're matching. Okay,
see here come on, everybody, if you have tickets for tonight,
you know what game time is at five point fifty. Sure, right,
we could. I mean when the eight to thirty games,
people seem to be there on time. Yeah, but everybody else.
They have some eight thirty home games this year. I

(01:16:47):
think they have a lot of TV national television. But
I mean other NBA cities get there and be there
at seven o'clock, then have crappy traffic to Chicago. They're
there at seven o'clock. Toronto, their games are in downtown
in Toronto, they're there early. Matt, I'm sorry. I just
I just want us to be better. There's a handful

(01:17:07):
of things I asked for. When them is a nice
full building for I mean, this could be a I
mean you want to overembellish. It just could be a
potential NBA Finals preview. I don't know if the trout's
gonna be good enough, but the trout's wide open in
the it is an over embellis written. That's fine, Ryan,
What are you apologizing for?

Speaker 16 (01:17:25):
I want to apologize to Uh. The guy I work with,
his name is Dan. We're at a job side the
other day and I kind of m fed him a
little hard kind of laid into him, and I just
wanted to dan, I'm sorry.

Speaker 2 (01:17:35):
That was uncalled for. And what did you get mad
at him for?

Speaker 16 (01:17:40):
You're just trying to like undercut me on price of shingles.
He really upset me, but he has a job to do,
so I shouldn't have reacted the way I did.

Speaker 2 (01:17:49):
I didn't mean that all right, Well, you know it
was nice. So I would suggest you now call him
and apologize. See how things go. Thank you all. The
public platform of seven nine he's also very powerful as well.
That's true absolutely, because if you're willing to say what
you've done and embarrass yourself to force an apology and
put on the airwaves, that actually means more just a

(01:18:10):
larger audience available to you. That way. Let's continue on.
Let's go to uh something called q Q. What are
you sorry for?

Speaker 8 (01:18:19):
Man?

Speaker 17 (01:18:20):
I got a three parts I'm sorry, Wow, I'm sorry
to those seet a Mariner cheer for a man getting
hit by ninety eight miles, second come back, last, but

(01:18:40):
not least.

Speaker 7 (01:18:42):
I'll pick you all.

Speaker 2 (01:18:44):
Oh, Q, I'm so Q. I want to say I'm
sorry for our phones. It seems like it's usually like
the eleven o'clock hour too. Is it a certain is
it a certain area code that gets us and gets unfortunately? No,
I think it's a carrier. No, it wouldn't be area. Yeah,
the top of you. It's either the IP address or
a carrier or I mean, it shouldn't be an issue regardless,

(01:19:06):
it's not never supposed to be your fault. So we
say we're sorry. Q. We have phone issues sometimes daily.
Everything's better on the internet. Everything's better on the web.
But he was talking about Mariners fans. Yeah, they should
apologize to George Springer. Oh, they did. They should apologize
for putting shoes on their head. You're big, You're big

(01:19:27):
on that shoe in the head. It's so stupid. What
do they call that pitchfork thing? The trident? Yeah, yeah,
that's of course Poseidon's weapon of choice? Is it? How
many choices did he have? I mean, or Aquaman? Achaman
had tried it, Aquaman was good, Oaman had think about it.

(01:19:47):
I mean, how many crimes are committed on the scene.
He's many maritime laws can you violate? If he he
was the least worked superhero? Yeah, Batman was always busy.
Superman was trying to save the whole globe. Woman was
taking care of the female generation. That was the ink
you know, Acoman just had to take care of the waters.
Was the name of Linda Carter all Timer. All Timer.

(01:20:11):
We ever got a Wonder Woman live action movie? Like recently,
what there's multiple I don't want to see gal Gado
gal Gado very honestly the first wonder Woman, Like I
couldn't even look at the screen. She was so hot,
which I was like, I can't watch like this makes
me It's like she's so hot. You were sweating in
the movie. Beautiful. Oh my gosh. Ye, now she's a

(01:20:32):
horrible actress, but she's beautiful. You said it to her face. Oh,
she asked me, Hey, what do you think of my
acting skills? I'll let her know. Remember we told you
stop being so honest. It doesn't help. Yeah, yeah, I know. Well,
whatever you would say, Gail, you call her Muscados. If
she said, hey, Ross, what do you think of my
acting skills? I would have to be honest. I would
absolutely one a percent live. I'm not gonna tell her

(01:20:54):
acting skills are terrible. No chance. She doesn't care, and
she wouldn't ask me. And I probably actually my lip
would be quiver. I'm being able to say anything.

Speaker 5 (01:21:05):
What you we doing.

Speaker 2 (01:21:09):
Eleven fifty five next Friday? I mean, have you seen her?

Speaker 7 (01:21:14):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (01:21:15):
Yeah, I'm very impressed. I just forgot about her. Hello, Geoe,
what are you apologizing for? Hey, guys, man, I'm just
going on here, man, because I want to say you.

Speaker 8 (01:21:24):
Sorry.

Speaker 2 (01:21:25):
Man, I already apologize to you on Instagram. Jugger dot
Thomas was very rude, so so rude. In all fairness,
John called your mega mind. So that was worse. That

(01:21:45):
was worse in fairness, in fairness, I'm sorry, man. We'll
see Thank you to you.

Speaker 10 (01:21:52):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (01:21:52):
By the way, we will have a three thousand Instagram party.
It happened today. I am at three thousand and one
Instagram followers. They thank you very much. Everybody party to
be determined. Hey, you got fifteen followers? Sixteen actually, oh man,
you know what I'll do. I'll give you all shout
out right now, the brand new followers, because that's what

(01:22:14):
I'm gonna do. I can't I can't guarantee a follow
but I can guarantee you. What do you mean one
of the worst. You never because you never mentioned Instagram
until I started talking about mine. You're the worst. Shout
out to Darkness VJL, Codfish fifty nine, hold on, hold on,
go I want to see because I want to shout
out the people that followed me but didn't follow I mean,

(01:22:34):
followed you but didn't follow me. Okay, Codfish, we're good.
TP Petty twenty Yeah, we're good. Terry's road to recovery.
Oh Terry, I hope. I'm wishing you the best on
your road to recovery. You though you didn't follow me.
Christopher M six eleven. Yep, Christopher didn't either, but oh no,
Christoph followed me. We're good. Pea can't followed him back.
P kN To twenty two, Riz one P Marthur fifty nine,

(01:22:54):
A BOOSTA marilynd Dueen do u I n E ninety
seventy five. Oh Sheriff, Well, I mean now she's following me.
She's lovely and be good one Hello. Shout out to
you and Michael L. Golden Darkness VGL and kurd Ashton
six among those. Thanks everybody follow me on fairness to
calling you out. I'll eventually get to you, I promise
at Sports RV I'll follow you back.

Speaker 1 (01:23:19):
This is the Matt Thomas Show with Ross twelve.

Speaker 3 (01:23:28):
Three.

Speaker 15 (01:23:31):
Sound good morning, Stern Bears.

Speaker 2 (01:23:51):
This is our three about Thomas show with Ross Sports
Talk seven ninety. You know, I've been heard in my
Bill Cosby in a lot that's really not bad. See.
I mean, he's a dangerous, terrible person, but it's a

(01:24:13):
good impersonation. I mean, there are people have been personating
terrible people all their lives, no comment. Some will impersonate
great people too, but that Bill con I mean you
should apologize to the to the Cosby family and the
Cosby Foundation. There's no such thing as a Cosby Foundation,
and if it is, it's probably out of business. It's

(01:24:33):
probably for a legal defense fund. Yeah, it's true, man,
We've had some in our lifetime. We had a Heisman winner,
a two thousand the first running back ever to run
for verse for two thousand yards, a television and movie
not superstar but star a guy who transcended their sport,

(01:24:54):
and we had one of the funniest comedians in the
history of comedy. Both become the worst human beings on earth.
What about a Hall of Fame basketball player and current
NBA coach with mob ties, tipping off mobsters and participating
in rig poker games. Yeah, two where we live in

(01:25:19):
Crazy by the way, real fast forget to the news.
At Nune, did you know there were four mob families
actively running around the street. I mean I've heard of
the five families. Yeah, that's very now. You don't get
into mob stuff. I understand the average it to the
Mob Museum with us and your son, right, we did
a great time. It was great. They talk about the
five families there. But I mean it's twenty twenty five.

(01:25:41):
I think in nineteen seventy eight there were a collective
group of people that were maybe perhaps way more concerned
with the mob than we should have been. In twenty two,
I think, I guess obviously they've evolved into I mean
there's a lot of legitimate businesses that they run now
these days. And then core there was a lot of
the rico cases of the sixties, seventies, eighties, nineties. It

(01:26:03):
was wasn't that there was a whole bunch of family.
There was a whole bunch of cases, and there was
like a name for it. It was like the something
Winter or whatever. But I mean we remember, we don't
need to ask your son because he knew everything. My
middle boy, he knows that you know I knew a
lot about the mobs. Yeah, I literally just read a
book on al Capone and he knew more about al
Capone than I than I did. Well, he's a history major,

(01:26:24):
so I'm saying he's impressive. Your son is very, very intelligent.
So but the point is that I think in the
news in this if we were doing if we were
doing a talk show in the seventies or maybe the sixties,
we'd be hearing about these mob like, oh did you
hear what happened? Or that's terrible, or you we haven't
heard of a mob called underground Matt, But I mean

(01:26:45):
even underground stuff becomes mainstream and we and we've we've
we've said in the more mob more times in the
last twenty four hours, we've said in the last five years,
ten years easily probably It's just yeah, I knew they
were operating. They're just hanging more under the radar. And
a lot of stuff they were doing back in the
you know, running numbers and I guess you could still
do loan sharking. There's still see the own underground study
bought off police, which I'm presuming they don't buy a

(01:27:06):
police anymore. You never know, all right, twelve nine on
Sports Talk seven ninety It is timed out for the
news at noon, and with that we go to the
Tom Brokaw of UH Sports Tide at Houston, Texas. You'll
have the Houston Rockets facing golf fulgets the Detroit Pistols

(01:27:29):
for their home opener, Kevin Durant making his Houston debut,
as it will be Paul Wall the halftime act for
your Houston Rockets. Met your favorite Paul Wall song, My
Teeth Look Pretty? Is these girls still a bit? I'm

(01:27:50):
gonna go with the Way I Am Freestyle? Now. Of
course that's a little underground for some of you folks.
Some of you all real ones know what I'm talking about.
But it's on the eminem uh. It was on one
of the Swisher House either before the caap is one
of the after the Caps. Perhaps, Matt, I know you're
a big fan and preveyor of those. Why are you
making a face like me like I'm speaking Chinese to me?

(01:28:11):
You are speaking Chinese? You completely lost me here, tell
me all know what I'm talking about. After the Kappa,
before the Cappus, swish a House freestyles the Way I
Am Freestyle.

Speaker 7 (01:28:19):
Paul Wall.

Speaker 2 (01:28:19):
That's the greatest of all time Paul Wall song. If
you ask me, Okay, we can't play it on the air.
I wonder, I think, I wonder if we get Paul
to the broadcast booth. Why I don't even know who
he is or know his music. What do you care?
But he's obviously famous, Yeah he is. Is he famous
outside of Houston? Like ridiculously famous? Ridiculously? But yes, people

(01:28:41):
know him. He was on a Drive Slow with Kanye
That was a great song. He was on Grills with
Nelly that was a great song. But I mean, how
many people are getting grills generally speaking? It's just him
and his buddies, Him and yeah, him and TV Johnny
T Johnny Oh geez, yes, Matt, I'm here to educate you.
That's you are. Thank you very much for that. Okay, Well,

(01:29:03):
there you go. Rockets dabut Kevin Durant making his Rockets debut,
and the tip off is at six point fifteen. Okay, listen,
it's seven o'clock. Please get there by like six forty five.
The food is good and it's expensive, but you're spending
money anyway to go downtown anyway, So what's the difference
be there and cheer on when Kevin durantets announced with
the very first time, and of course, bring your radios

(01:29:23):
with you, all right. Elsewhere in the news Man, the
New York Giants Brian Dable and Cam Skataboo all fine
stemming from violations of the concussion protocol surrounding the evaluation
of rookie quarterback Jackson Dart during the Week six game.
If you remember Brian Dabele immediately rushing into the tent

(01:29:44):
basically out, He's like, get him out of there. He's like,
I don't what my job is on the line, and
Russell Wilson is on the field. Please, for the love
of God, clear Jackson Dart. That's right, That's exactly how
it is, pretty much what happened. Well, he claimed that
he was I was just trying to check on Jackson Dart,
but he said he understood how the optics were bad. Well,

(01:30:04):
the Giants assessed a two hundred two hundred thousand dollars
fine for violating the protocol. Brian Dabole himself fined one
hundred thousand dollars, and Camp Scatabou fined fifteen thousand dollars
for conduct detrimental to the league. I like it should
have happened. Absolutely, Yeah, Daboll cannot mess around with a tent.

(01:30:25):
You just can't. No, you can't get especially when it's concussion.
They have to follow the protocols to get the independent
physician Team physician doctor Scott Rodeo was being yelled at
by Daboll as he was as Dabell was a waiting
word on whether Dart would be cleared to return to
the game. Coach said he was simply trying to see
if Dart was okay, not trying to co work a

(01:30:47):
complete and utter lie. The average person lies four times
a day, and that's probably a little higher for NFL
head coaches. He's like, uh, you better clear his ass.
By the way, who said the camp Scataboo is going
to have a better rookie year than Ash and j team?
Just tell me, uh, did you say that? No? I'm
just curious you didn't say that. No, I didn't say

(01:31:07):
I was gonna say no. I mean I said that
as Jenny was gonna you carry are probably close. Camp's
goat who has scoring a bunch of touchdowns for sure. Well,
he's been way more impact now, granted, now there's Giants.
They're not significantly better than the Raiders, but they're a
little bit better. But still genty has been as I
thought he would be mid. Yeah, I said it, and
I'm probably gonna lose eventually when he rushes for nineteen

(01:31:29):
forty and twenty one touchdowns. But right now he's been mid.
He's yeah. They there. I believe their offensive line is
twenty eighth in football and the Texans are twenty nine.
Not that over there because the poo Hounds don't always
know everything. That's true. One data point, folks, you just
want not into meal. Not gonna hurt you. And one
more quick note, man, of course the World Series. Now

(01:31:51):
you call it tipping off in basketball, you call it
kicking off in football. Are you pitching off in baseball? No,
you just say first pitch. Obviously they're saying first pitch. Oh,
you're calling you an opener. Opener of the World Series.
By the way, we'll check on how much tickets costs
we come back, Okay. Boba Schett has had a spring

(01:32:11):
ankle since early September. He is on the roster for
the Blue Jays. Now does that mean he's gonna play
or a pinch it roll. We'll see. Also, Clinton Kershaw
is on the roster. Unfortunate for a lot of people
here in Houston. The greatest out Astros outfielder of all time,
one of the greatest, should be an Astros Hall of Famer,

(01:32:33):
was left off the roster. This feels like this is
tongue in cheek, which Joey Joey Loper Joey off the roster.
He's the great of the all time?

Speaker 14 (01:32:45):
How could they.

Speaker 2 (01:32:45):
Trade him away? Well, he's off the roster, Astro. Twitter,
go get Ross at sports rvy, get him because you are.
Every Twitter comes after me this day. Maybe everybody got
go attack sports RV because he doesn't like Joey loperfieddo
I can't hurt me because I believe in myself also
believe with the mute button that's an old bad mute.
Oh he's your friend. It is my number one friend
on social media, and go ahead and follow me on

(01:33:07):
Instagram at sports rvy. As Bonnie Joe was saying, Fancy
Matt won't follow people back, but I do. Bonnie Joe,
do I not follow you? I'm gonna go follow Bonnie
Joe back. Right, This second great of the show hater. No,
I don't hate you. I love Bonnie Joey Sports RV
for a followback. We're extending it by fifteen minutes yours
and then he's gonna. He's gonna this week too. He's consistent.

(01:33:29):
Not true, Just do you. I'll just go look at
his follower count in about two days it will be
seven hundred eighteen ten to fifteen lower than it is today.
Not true. Seven liar five seven seven, one three two
one two and anything goes Friday, Come on in and
join us, doctor Rote with It's at one o'clock here
on Sports Talk seven ninety. All right, Texans taking on

(01:33:56):
the San Francisco forty nine ers on Sunday. This Vegas
is holding SETTI. It went up a point when party
was for sure out yeah two and half. Well, we
had to Greg Silberon from San Francisco earlier and he
was he was way more bullish on Mac Jones and
perhaps the rest of America is yeah. Well, Mac Jones

(01:34:18):
has been had been good when he first started, but
the last two games he's got no touchdowns and three picks.
But also they've been getting they haven't needed them to throw.
The defense has been playing well even with uh Fred Warner,
Nick Bose, I mean, not only the two best defenders
on the Niners, but two of the best defenders at
football going down and they and they've still been able
to get it done. That West is uber competitive. You

(01:34:40):
do you have the Rams? I mean, could it be
crazy enough to say maybe the Rams, Seahawks and Ford
and A'll make the playoffs? They're all five and two?
Are there enough playoffs spots for that? They're all in
right now? I think, go look this up. Oh you're
looking standings, aren't you. I'm so proud of you. Love standing. Yeah,
they're all in right now. Yeah. And and this is
the mean I mean, unfortunately, the Texans are playing a

(01:35:02):
year where this is the enit. They're having to play
the NFC West regardless of record. They have to play
all the teams in that division anyway, So uh, you'll
be done with them except forget the Arizona game coming up.
But Arizona's just a mess right now. Texans not in
the playoffs right now.

Speaker 7 (01:35:16):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:35:16):
And again last night with the Chargers winning, it did
not help as that's one of the teams you'll be
fighting with for a long card. It's true or are
they division leaders right now? I think they are right
till the Chiefs play. Yeah. Yeah, because they've got a game.
So let me ask you this. If the Texans lose
this game on Sunday, oh, is it a must win?

(01:35:41):
I'm gonna go even a little bit deeper than that. Okay,
are we going to do what the Chronicle did to
the Astros and put it in barium? Two and five
is a little early, but you're close. It's completely over
if as far as playoffs, if they lose the next

(01:36:01):
two right then they'll be two and six. Texans are.
Oh by the way, Denver's coming in next week. Denver
a team that wants an AFC wallet card spot. Denver
is good. But they've hit a couple of slip ups too.
But they're I mean they're five and two now. Granted,
Jacksonville was four and two until they look like complete

(01:36:21):
dog crap against the Rams in London. So I mean
the Giants absolutely. When you have to score thirty three
points to win a football game in the fourth quarter,
you do give them credit. But my gosh, they beat
the Jets thirteen to eleven. Yeah, they won them. Went
against the Eagles. I mean they're better than the Texans.
They're better than the Texans. But the Texans will be home.
And then, let me tell you, the Texans are going

(01:36:42):
to beat the Jaguars badly. They just are. So you
got you got one guaranteed winning the three coming up.
I'm just gonna say it. You think they're gonna be
I don't know they did, Jackson, are no slouts. Really
they looked did you see the game in London last week?
They were terrible. Everybody looks sluggish in London. No, that's
not true. True. The other team looked very good. The

(01:37:02):
Rams Matthew Stafford throw five touchdowns. That was it. That's
the anti sks, all right. He only threw a hundred
and eighty yards though, but five touchdowns. Yeah, Devon Tannam's
caught three of them. That's anti sluggish. Well before that,
the Jets and the Giants were it was like a
thirteen to eleven game. Jaguars are still better than you
by record wise, by a record by point to French

(01:37:25):
when they're not. But also the Texans blew out the
Titans and the Baltimore Ravens that were walking wounded. Oh see,
here's the problem that Jaguars before they come to Houston,
will go to Las Vegas to play the Raiders. Raiders
are not very good. So the Jaguars if they're gonna
if they're gonna maintain a spot as competing for a
wild card, they're gonna have to beat the Raiders in
Las Vegas. Was that I'll tell you what. November the

(01:37:49):
ninth will be the day they will either keep Hope
alive or bury the Texans. So the answer is win baby.
So the question I will say to you is are
we burying him this week if they lose? The answer
is no. I will till November the ninth to put
the feder can play in the Texans season. Twenty to sixteen.
Texans win this weekend. You heard it here from Texans
lose twenty one to thirteen. They can't score, they're going

(01:38:14):
to man. They make it a defensive touch. And Noel season,
I mean he showed ols we're going with Noel. I
think we're going no. He showed some signs. Now Higgins
has not done much. No Xavier Hutchinson, he's gonna be
blocking like a matter set. Maybe you don't even believe yourself.
What do you mean he's a good blocker, yeah, but

(01:38:34):
I don't need good blockers. Kevin Walters was a good blocker,
yeah he was. Or Walter Walter, Yeah, Walter and Daniels
and Daniels very confusing. There's no downfield, right, there's nobody
that scares him. Now, canol be that guy Brexen Barrios downfield? Baby?

(01:38:54):
Braxen Barrios is painful to watch him play. It's not
painful to watch him. I don't think I can return guy, yeah,
but I don't want him taking twenty with the receiver.
Did you sow many important snaps he took against Seattle
last week to way too many? He's just a guy
that that Dalton Schultz play action kind of having him

(01:39:15):
leak out play action to the right and then having
Dalton Schultz we got leak out to the left or
with strong side and then having him week out leak
out weak side. That's not I don't know that's gonna
keep working because that worked about four times last week.
That's obviously on tape, so we'll see what happens. I
don't expect nine catches for ninety eight yards that like
Dalton Schultz got last week. Let's do this now, we're

(01:39:38):
not doing props. We're just talking about We're just talking listening.
Will will he get will he even get nine targets
this week? I mean, if you're the aren't you the Giants?
Aren't you? I mean, if you if you are Salah
who knows who knows defense? He's a lossy hahah football coach,
but he knows defense. Aren't you going to try to say,

(01:39:59):
you know what, I'll let no beat me. I'll let
Hutch and be me. I'm not letting Dalton Schultz catch
ten yard crossing patterns all throughout the game, because that's
exactly how the problem is not gonna happen. But I
mean it's it's easier said than done. Everybody has to
do their job. Nobody wants anybody to catch any passes.
But you also get a chance of practice against one
of the best tight ends of the business when George
Kittle on, When you're a practice during the course of

(01:40:19):
the week, and George Kittle's win more accomplished than Dalton Schultz,
is that is true? So I don't know, I just Rossie,
I can't see them scoring and what you know what,
they don't have to score enough. You know what, get
get to Kymie Fairbarry three field goals and a defensive score.
Their protection has been better at home. The mix of

(01:40:41):
Nick Chubb and Woody Marks is not terrible. Far from elite,
Far from elite, doesn't hear anybody, shouldn't scare anybody. Maybe
you can get a little something, I mean some a
couple of good runs out of them, some good play
action game, and you're gonna win with your defense. That's
what you're doing. I'm gonna win to what an ugly game,
maybe ugly than what I'm talking about, like sixteen to thirteen.

(01:41:07):
I yeah, if the Texans win. If they win, they
don't have to score twenty. It's going to be Mac
Jones throwing multiple interceptions, which we've seen other quarterbacks do
in this building before. Look, when y'all are allowed at
twelve noon or whenever y'all get there twelve thirty, y'all
can be loud. But the question is going to be

(01:41:28):
this is a team that has been large and disappointing.
The fans don't show up on time. It's not a
raucous environment to begin And I think I will say this,
and I don't mean to put too much on fans
because you look, you buy the tickets, you can show
up when you want to go. I've never accomplished that.
They've never made an AFC championship game in the twenty
plus year. Yeah, I mean people aren't showing up, let's understanding.

(01:41:49):
But a football vibe can certainly I think move things
a little bit more. Basketball vibe of a full building
can certainly help that, especially if it's late in the game. Well,
it's how we roll in Houston. If you want to
be two in four and not accomplish anything that people
are too and whatever's two and four, two and four,
people aren't going to be showing up and they they'll
be there, but they're gonna be on. Tell you we

(01:42:11):
need everybody to be passionate and ready to go and loud.
It's like, okay, give us something. Yeah, don't give us
three and out. It's not been beautify football. And don't
give us multiple false starts and uh illegal contentalies to
get cleaned up. Yeah. The penalties and the intention of
detail are my biggest concern. And guess what that is.
THAT'SO Ryan Persol. I'm with you. I think we have

(01:42:35):
to stop. And I think you and I have been
pretty protecting of him. We're gonna have to back off
a little bit on a little bit of that.

Speaker 15 (01:42:42):
I think.

Speaker 2 (01:42:43):
I think, I think it makes us look silly if
we say that Dimico doesn't have to wear some of this.
I've never said in all that he's not responsible for
any of this. Well, I'm saying now I'm starting to
change my tune because uh, from his word salad and
his generic and it's or only one possession away, Well,
you're again ninety percent of NFL games over within one possession.
Join the club, win games, go out, coach to detail matters.

(01:43:06):
Every small mistake piles up, and you can't afford because
the margins are thinning in the NFL. Seven one three, two,
one two five seven out of is how you reach
a show. We've got anything goes Friday. If you want
to get in on the Texans, you want to talk
some college football, My Cougars are taking on Arizona State
tomorrow night in Phoenix. That'll be a seven o'clock start.
If you want to listen to it's on nine to fifty.
We'll begin that at six o'clock. We have Texas a

(01:43:28):
and m uh really nervous about LSU at least the
Aggie family, members of mine and your beloved Longhorns going
to Mississippi State. Right, that should be a win.

Speaker 8 (01:43:38):
Right?

Speaker 2 (01:43:38):
They need more cow bells and a half six and
a half. Yeah, I'm going to turn the sound down.
The cowbell bit is awful. Yeah, it's fine. You say
it's fine, But I think your ears are going to
ring in a three and a half hours into it.
You just are I'll make it. I'm not that worried.

(01:44:00):
One three two one two five.

Speaker 1 (01:44:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:44:02):
Got a partner named Tim running twenty inch when you
were getting really nervous for a second, I was like,
why are you guys? I sent it to him. I
sent it to him. I thought so. I thought maybe
he thought I meant this for him to play it.
I was scared. No, no, no, no, I just played it.
I listened to the ones who take it. It's okay,
thank you, We're all good. Everybody's everybody's good, everybody calm down.
Nothing to see here. I don't think anybody knows drebbing.

(01:44:24):
I just saw you getting nervous. And by the way,
oh did you how long did you go? The first
twenty minutes are good, and then the next twenty minutes.
I was like, I'm gonna watch something else for right now.
The first had a lot of laughs the first twenty minutes.
I told you this before, flat out belly laughing, and

(01:44:44):
then the movie went south. I'm going to finish it.
It's just I wasn't motivated to Naked Gun the remake.
Oh but you said it was like a five, Matt,
five out of ten is what you get. Here's make
it worse. No, No, it was a nine in the
first half hour and then it fell down to a two.
So I think I average a doubt.

Speaker 11 (01:45:05):
You know what the movie I saw was very funny, Matt.
I thought you would like it. Some comedy Balls of Fury,
that Pink Pong movie.

Speaker 2 (01:45:11):
I haven't. I've I've always seen bits of that. It's
actually really good watch. Matt might like that. Yeah, I've
never heard of it's like a slapstick. Yeah, to look
at it's on TV, I think too. B Okay, is
that a pay channel or two's free? But it has ads?
It's fine, I mean chargemount at least you Yeah, you
got pay stuff with ads. Now, Disney Plus used to

(01:45:31):
not have ads. By what you see, who's adding some
more commercials to their presentation. Oh is it Red Zone?
You're gonna add a few more see, of course. See,
this is the thing when you have these water carrying
people like Ian Rappaport and Adam Schefter who are protecting
the shield and being like, guys, it's only sixty seconds. Yeah,
that's right now. I thought they were gonna add more

(01:45:52):
like next year. They're doing more like week eight. They're
already adding more. It was gonna happen, It's gonna happen.
But I've watched straight weeks of six hours. Yes, there's
a handful. It's not even bad. It's not that it's
not bad, but it's about the sanctity of what Red
Zone was. It's Scott hansl to come on there and say,
get ready for seven hours of commercial free radio. Of

(01:46:16):
course we can live with it, of course. But this
is just all emblematic of the way of the world.
More and more and more and more and more and
more money and charging us more and wages, staying stagnant
and all this other. It's just it's just everything. It's
just don't even give me on myself. We're talking about
streaming service and ads and all that stuff. Yeah, Like,
do you guys like as the age like that came

(01:46:37):
up to it and it was like we want our
own when we don't pick what we want on TV
and everything, do you guys kind of regret that? How
like a La cart you're talking about?

Speaker 11 (01:46:44):
Yeah, like how Disney Plus and all these stream platforms
aren't there now. Before it was like you had cable
and you had the cable on.

Speaker 2 (01:46:50):
Right, Cable was better, but you have more you can watch.
I don't know what's better. I'm actually surprised in twenty
twenty five we can't just call our cable operators or
call our satellite providers and say, hey, I want these
nineteen channels and they say, all right, that's a dollar.
That's a dollar fifty, that's a dollar seventy five. You

(01:47:11):
would think technology would be able to do that by now, No,
because I mean there would just be channels that nobody
would get and play. It's like an Ion channel or whatever. Yeah,
those poor Ion folks. I mean, we're you gonna catch
your murder, she wrote. I don't know. They want to
make a package deal, especially with the companies, whether it
be Viacom or what is this. Here's here's how I

(01:47:32):
do this the Red Zone. I upgrade my satellite TV
sports pack, so for twelve dollars a month, I get
all the regional sports channels, which they're dying. Those are
dying and they don't have any on their most stuff
blocked out on those and then they're blacked out, so
it doesn't do me any good. But as part of
the twelve dollars, I get the red Zone. So for me,
I'm paying twelve dollars a month for the next five

(01:47:54):
months to watch NFL football. That's sixty dollars for me
to get six to get seven hours of red Zone
with a few commercials. That's not terrible value for me.
I feel I feel like I have red Zone space
all the time. I get what I'm paying for comfortably.
I'm getting seventeen weeks, No eighteen weeks. When you have
to buys eighteen off weeks, you get eighteen weeks of

(01:48:15):
if you If you can to watch the red Zone
channel for twelve dollars a month, that's fine. I can
live with that. I mean, you want everything to be
discounted and everything to be reasonable, and you you something
you just say I just can't do it. This is
one of the situations that I say, I can I
can stomach this. It's just yeah, it's crazy how splintered
it is, and how many different things are, and how
they keep going up and they keep adding ads. Like

(01:48:37):
I said, Disney Plus used to not have ads. I
think Netflix. Does Netflix have ads?

Speaker 4 (01:48:42):
One?

Speaker 2 (01:48:42):
Now I think too, yes, and you're gonna pay extra
for note there used to be no ads on Netflix.
Who definitely ads? Who was kind of felt like Amzon.
You know Amazon Prime, you watch a Thursday night game
last night in the NFL, They've you get just so
many commercials you would have during the regular NFL and ads.

Speaker 11 (01:48:56):
You know, I just don't get that because if you
have Prime Video and they say the movie on there,
you still have to pay for some of the movies
even if you have You.

Speaker 2 (01:49:03):
Know why that is is because for I don't pay
for Amazon Prime Video. I'm an Amazon Prime member. My
family is. So we get the channel for free in
theory in theory, in theory in theory. So I could
see why they're like, well, we'll give you this channel
in theory for free. So we're now it's an extra
three dollars a month if you want no ads. It

(01:49:23):
used to be free. It's every it's every it's honestly
for me, it's all calculated as a sports connoisseur. Ninety
percent of the stuff I watch in Amazon Prime will
be the NFL, which has been on Thursdays, and then
now the NBA is gonna be on there one, you know,
once twice a week. So that's what I'm going like,
tonight's the first Amazon Prime NBA doubleheader. Here's a reality.

(01:49:44):
If you're an NBA fan, and we're gonna see this
with baseball eventually and maybe even the NFL. It costs
you a couple thousand dollars to watch the sports, and
no one's going and if you're a diehard of the sport,
you're not gonna blink an eye but for the cash.
The casual fan and be like, you know what, what's
it's on? Is on? Like I have a lot of
friends that live and die by YouTube TV. YouTube TV

(01:50:07):
does not have UH space in the network, so anytime,
the only time they ever get to the rockets is
if you're an NBC or on ESPN mm hmm, and
they're not batting, then eight of that or days or
if you have Dish Network. And these are some other character.
And these are decent people that I know that are
sports fans. They just said, you know what, they we
just have a certain threshold. We just can't surpass it.

(01:50:29):
And you you have to check out, you have to
pick and choose. You got to share some passwords. That's
a lot talk on your bra. Yeah, or you go
to the illegal streams, but a lot of times those
are unreliable and they fall apart and they skip and
you got to reflesh fresh and you got to go
to this stream and that stream and the other stream,
and it's just but whatever, it is what it is.

(01:50:50):
But the revenues keep the the all these sports leagues
want their revenues to keep going up. So what does
that mean? More ads? And no one's turning it down.
You know, Look, the NBA doesn't and I love the NBA,
but the NBA doesn't care if how you watch anymore.
They've got the checks coming in. They've they've got they
got paid, and they're and they're they're hoping that you

(01:51:12):
will join those networks and those channels. It's more exposure
for them, right. I mean, the last couple of years
it's only been ESP and A b C. We will
have the there'll be over two hundred nationally televised games.
What was the last couple of years because now NBC
and Peacock in addition to a b C, ESPN, Well,
I would presume it was just it was just it
was just NBA TV and then ESPN, N T n T,

(01:51:35):
who else? Oh tn T. That's right, So there was
let's say, I want to say it's it's most double
the amount. So if you are now again, how many
hardcore I'm not talking about Houston, I'm talking about this
just in general. How many hardcore NBA fans want to
watch a Randall Minnesota versus Portland game. I don't think
very many, but if you are, depends you have a
chance to see it. I I was watching uh Spurs

(01:51:59):
Mavericks on Wednesday because I want because I saw Wemby
like dominating and I flipped I saw it on social
media and I was like, oh my gosh, he's going nuts.
I'm gonna flip it on. And then he's just ragged
alling Anthony Davis like he's his little cousin. He was
a little kid that came in to the karate class
and just beat everybody up. It's like mar Yeah, crazy,

(01:52:19):
that's what it was. Yeah, it was crazy. I'm scared
quite frankly, I don't need him to be that this
good because he's gonna get in the way of my
ring and I can't have that. Oh my god, I
gotta get this year and then Matt, we gotta get
it right now. But again, exactly, I want the ring now.
He went overnight from m VY he to MVP favorite.

(01:52:41):
I know tonight until steps hitting forty footers to go
to sen games overtime. Yeah, we'll see and and shake
goes Alexander scoring forty points again two nights and double
the most talented player in NBA history, I'm not I
can't say that right now. Yeah, because I think we
were saying about Yiannis two years ago. I just I
just feel like America was don't know if I was

(01:53:02):
saying about Yiannis two years ago. He's never had the
shooting touch. Yeah, but a guy his size and his
ability to to the greatest downhill player maybe in the
hit history of the I think, and I've been probably
sticking with Lebron, I mean, Wilt Chamberlain. This is the
short list, I guess wil Chamberlain Lebron James, like those
types of uh, what Wimby's on that short Kevin Durant,

(01:53:23):
Will Chamberlain's on that short I mean, uh, Victor Wommenyama
is on that shortlist already. To me, I'm thinking about it.
I know it's choking you up. I'm sad too, because
he's in San Antonio and we wanted him here, and
those don't forget we wanted him here. Don't letnybody forget that.
We don't love him, man, Yeah, we love him. And Thompson,

(01:53:45):
I love him. He's and he's my bestie if he
knows my name, but we're besties. At twelve fifty one,
The Matt Thomas Show with Ross Doctor Roto coming up
in about ten minutes from now. It's the fastest thirty
minutes in major market radio on Tarls. Already down heavily
to Justin Herbert. And remember our old producer Trey. He's

(01:54:05):
beat me like by thirty seven points. He's already used
two players. Even his kicker got double digit points yesterday.
Cameron Dicker, Yeah, I know, Longhorn legend, Yeah yeah yeah
seven one three two one two five seven ninety let's
talk to Dave In spring on the Matt Thomas Show,
Ross Dave Howard.

Speaker 4 (01:54:23):
Hey good, I hope your phones are working today. Hey listen,
I just heard Ross talking about Wen ben Yama. Reminded
me I already call you guys. I don't hope you
don't mind if I bust on your buddy Adam Clanton
a little bit just good nature here. But I got
to tell you about a call last spring.

Speaker 2 (01:54:39):
I called him.

Speaker 4 (01:54:39):
He went on a rant about how the Rockets were
so lucky that they didn't get the first picked two
years ago in the draft because they would have taken
Wen ben Yama and missed out on Amen Thompson. I
called him and I said, then is the dumbest take
I think I've ever heard. There's not a GM in
the league then or now who would ever select as
good as he is Amen over Wendy and now we're

(01:55:02):
seeing you know you didn't need to wait till now
to see how good Win was going to be. But
he defended that position up and down, told me I
was an idiot. So it's too bad. It's not a
shut your bum ass up opportunity here. But that is
what I would say to Adam Clanton.

Speaker 2 (01:55:19):
Pass it on, all right, thank you. Adam listens to
the show occasionally, so if you're Adam, you're listening usually
around now. He's he's getting ready, he's in the shower
right now washing his back. What I don't get bathing
himself typically what you do atull washing his legs as well?
Why his legs? That was a big debate on Twitter.

(01:55:40):
People don't watch their legs? Who doesn't? Was the man
got scared? I'm glad you do, Matt. Yeah, I was
a little worried.

Speaker 11 (01:55:49):
Showed yeah, and the dude came on stage and he
was like, what do you do? As nobody else does?
And he says he doesn't wash himself below the knees.
Who said this again?

Speaker 2 (01:55:58):
I was in a comedy show and said different us
and said that, oh that's the thing.

Speaker 4 (01:56:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:56:02):
It was a huge Twitter controversy because there were people
who are like, yeah, I want to wash my legs.
You just the soap drips down. There were like what
you gotta scrub yourself, you dirty ass? I know I
wash everything good. Who's fault? This is your fault? Why
do you look at you anyway? So yes, uh, well,

(01:56:24):
we were talking about wimby the other day, and then
Adam Clinton was texting in about how I don't know
I crown him or whatever. No, I mean, just because
you have the a dynamic player does not guarantee a championship.
I mean, Kevin Durant's been one of the lebron James
have been two of the greatest players ever to play
in the last fifteen years, and they don't they I mean,
they both got titles, but you don't want them every

(01:56:45):
single year. I love him and Thompson. I may be
the biggest of men Thompson fan outside of Adam Clinton
in this marketplace, but it doesn't mean I can't appreciate
what Victor woman Yama is going to in theory do
for the San Antonio Spurs. The only thing you got
going for you if you're not in that team Wemby
Club and I'm not on Team Webby, but I appreciate

(01:57:06):
it is the fact that seven foot four, seven foot
five guys have a history of not staying healthy. I understand.
I mean personally, I do my best not to let
biases get into the way of of why I love
sports is to see the greatest athletes and competitors on

(01:57:28):
the planet, like basically the best of what the human
race is capable of or can do in pressure situations
and athletic accomplishments like I was talking about an Adam
Klannon was disagreeing with me on this too, like showy
o Tani. Look, I understand he wears Dodger blue and
we don't like Dodger blue. But six innings a shutout

(01:57:50):
ball with ten k's and three bombs, that is all
time historic, insane stuff. And Victor winbin Yama. Now, of
course it took a lot of qualifiers. It was like
seventy five percent true shooting percentage, forty fifteen rebounds, no
turnovers like that was all time historic stuff what he
did in the opener. But if you open your eyes

(01:58:14):
and take off your rockets, red glasses and watch what
he is able to do at seven foot five. He's
doing left handed inout dribbles, step backs, crossing up, like
mixing up, cross up step backs like he's Steph Curry,
who is six', three he's seven foot. Five it's insane

(01:58:36):
what he's able to. DO i, mean he's doing the
pump fake around the, cradle around the, basket reverse, dunks
almost hitting his head on the rim basically just standing.
There it's insane what he can. Do AND i understand
he's wearing, spurs silver and, black and we don't like

(01:58:58):
The San antonio. Spur BUT i can separate that WHEN
i watch what he does on the floor and ON
tv in these highlight, reels that he's he's an, alien
like his, nickname the alien that. Works he's an absolute
freak of. Nature but in the reality is. This if
he stays, HEALTHY i don't think he's going to. CHANGE
i think he's only going to get. BETTER i think
he's gonna he's going to be as unguardable as any

(01:59:20):
other player would be in THE. Nba he's and, look
there are a lot of there's a handful of. Unguardables
he may be the number one top but remember, AGAIN
i need to see. Attendance, yes he's twenty one years,
old he's about to be twenty, two and what he,
can what he's done already is. Insane and if he's
really seven to, Seven i'm really. Scared he's listed at seven,

(01:59:42):
Five boban. Said he looks up at. Him boban's seven
four real, quick before we get to Roto, Gene you're
on seven to. Ninety good afternoon to, You thank you.

Speaker 13 (01:59:51):
AFTERNOON i know you're talking a lot of, basketball and that's,
great love, It BUT i want to, know what do
you think The texans chances are this? Weekend in the game.

Speaker 2 (02:00:02):
The, TEXANS i think they're gonna. LOSE i are they
they Chance they're gonna win their Favored they're gonna run the,
Ball they're gonna win with. Defense Geane jones. Sucks, jean
the defense can keep The texans. ALIVE i just don't
know how they're gonna score any. Points they have their
Two Christian. Kirks i've been on the main go through,
threat but when you have No Nico, collins your running
game has been non. Existence your offensive line is rotating.

(02:00:23):
GUARDS C. J stroud still takes too many bad sacks
of long. DISTANCES i think it's gonna be a low scoring.
GAME i think The texans will have their, chances BUT
i just don't think they're gonna have a very difficult
time getting in the, score in the score in the end.
ZONE i think if The texans, win they gotta get
another defensive touchdowns, somehow some.

Speaker 13 (02:00:40):
Way is a mixing never gonna come back this.

Speaker 2 (02:00:43):
YEAR i don't think. So they have been super super
quiet about, it and don't dare ask or they'll get
they'll scold.

Speaker 7 (02:00:48):
YOU i.

Speaker 13 (02:00:50):
See, Okay well look you'all have a great.

Speaker 2 (02:00:52):
Weekend thank, You gane appreciate. It let's get To Doctor rodo.
Next we'll do that and get you ready for your
fantasy football week is twelve fifty. Eight here On Sports
talk seven ninety is.

Speaker 1 (02:01:00):
The Matt Thomas show With ross.

Speaker 2 (02:01:19):
Who waiver claims.

Speaker 14 (02:01:22):
Have to be made And i've got trade proposals fly
in my. Way my first round pick turned out to
be a big. FLOP i don't know which wide RECEIVER
i need to.

Speaker 2 (02:01:43):
Drive Doctor roto give me the. NEWS i really don't know.

Speaker 3 (02:01:51):
WHAT i should.

Speaker 14 (02:01:52):
Do my quarnerback keeps getting. Sacked i've got a bad,
cass unfair to see.

Speaker 2 (02:02:02):
With it is the fastest thirty minutes of major market.
Radio we present to you the one the Only Doctor
roto will take your questions in your comments about your.
Teams in the second segment of the show seven one
three two one two five seven, Ninety Doctor roto tell
me you were watching The Giants denver game and you
were talking about Boon. Nicks were thinking about how bad

(02:02:25):
a Bon knicks game was until he put together the
thirty three point fourth quarter and his fantasy numbers skyrocketed
literally in fifteen minutes of.

Speaker 7 (02:02:32):
Play it's so crazy BECAUSE i remember telling everybody how
MUCH i liked Bon nix last, week right where it's, like,
oh Bon, nicks there's gonna be a great, game and
then all of a, sudden you look like you have
no idea what you're talking. About and then The giants,
Defense what is up with? That Shane? Bowen how does
a guy keep a? JOB i, mean twenty six to
eight in the fourth, quarter late in the fourth, quarter
you got to close that game, Out SO i mean you.

(02:02:54):
Can you can cut this kicker all you. Want it's
not just a kicker's. Fault this, week, though we're going
back To, denver going and playing The cowboys who play
who decided to change up from his zone defense to
man coverage because they weren't doing well on. Zone don't
want they.

Speaker 2 (02:03:09):
Don't do well in man.

Speaker 7 (02:03:09):
Either you know who does do well in man? Coverage,
Boonix Courtland, Sutton Troy. Franklin load up on Your broncos.

Speaker 2 (02:03:16):
Again loading up On broncos. Things we never thought we'd
say in twenty to twenty, five if you got a
question for the good, doctor we'll start taking those coming
up in a matter of moments at seven one three,
two one two five seven ninety seven one three, two
one two five seven ninety all, Right so what do
we want to start this? Week? Boy oh, boy oh?
Boy The. Patriots we can't waiting For Drake may to

(02:03:39):
have an off. Week it was very, good not. Spectacular
can he get those numbers back up against The browns
this weekend In New?

Speaker 7 (02:03:47):
England, YEAH, MT i know you have. Him so look
what we love about this game is that The browns
very hard to run. Against so last week we, knew,
right we Knew Ramandra stevenson is going to run the.
Football we knew that that's how you beat The. Titans
how do you beat The? Browns you throw? It So
brown's play a lot of man. Coverage who do we?
Like we Like Stefan, diggs we Like Keayshawn, Butte we

(02:04:11):
Like Drake. MAY i Think Drake. Mays there is at
least two touchdowns this, week maybe even a. THIRD i
mean not gonna be the highest scoring. GAME i think
this game finishes like maybe twenty four to twenty or
something like. That by out the twenty four, points it's
probably going to come through the air because it's really
hard to run On.

Speaker 2 (02:04:26):
Cleveland are we back all in on The eagles after
their win Against Minnesota Life?

Speaker 7 (02:04:31):
SUNDAY i think we got to be very. Careful Aj
brown has not practiced this.

Speaker 13 (02:04:35):
Week there's a.

Speaker 7 (02:04:36):
Good shot he's. Out if he's, Out DeVonta smith is
a lock. BUTTON i, MEAN i also, think, look the
last time these two teams, Played barkley did. NOTHING i
don't think that happens the second time to, You SO
i think they lean on the running. GAME i think
they lean On DeVonta smith as of right, NOW Aj
brown very questionable hurts is of course in. PLAY i
mean you're gonna get a tush, push most likely at

(02:04:56):
some point during the. Game BUT i mean he's not
going to have the game he had last week or
they just threw it all.

Speaker 2 (02:05:00):
Day do you get as mad AS i do watching
the tush? Push first of, ALL i think there's an
illegal formation or a shift almost every single time it,
Happens and NOW i just get angry about. IT i
don't have a dog in the. FIGHTER i just don't
go against Many eagles and don't Have eagles on my.
Team but it's just irritating part of the game for, me.

Speaker 7 (02:05:17):
Honestly, No i'm with, you AND i, think, look make
a decision either say it's good for every team and
we're just. OUTLAWED i think it's just easier if the.
Outlaw it just feels like a play that somebody's going
to get really. Injured.

Speaker 2 (02:05:27):
Up Does Aaron rodgers go against his old team this
week and have? Success?

Speaker 7 (02:05:33):
YEAH i, mean, look you don't Think rogers is circling
this game on his. Calendar of course he. Is you,
know this is one of those games that you live.
For The packers defense has been not as good as
people think it.

Speaker 13 (02:05:45):
Is, right all The packers defense it's been.

Speaker 7 (02:05:47):
Great have they really gotten a pass?

Speaker 13 (02:05:49):
Rush.

Speaker 7 (02:05:50):
NO i think this is gonna be a higher scoring
game than people are. Anticipating steelers defense has also let
up a lot of points as. WELL i Think Jordan
love has a good. GAME i Think Aaron rodgers has
a good. GAME i think we're gonna Play, Metcalf we're
going to Play Josh. Jacobs you, know, look you better
have a big league going Into. Sunday night because a
lot of guys can be scoring in that. Game Romeo,
Dobbs Tucker, craft you, know load up on this, one all.

Speaker 2 (02:06:12):
Right buccaneers an off week last week In. DETROIT i
don't know if it's off because it was A monday
night game on the. Road but tell, me uh what
a difference going from a LEGITIMATE nfc title contender to
A saints team that's one and. Six if you've Got,
buccaneers you're loading? Up correct this?

Speaker 7 (02:06:28):
Week, well you are loading. Up BUT i think there
were some bad calls there from the REST i mean
reviewing These Kate oughton played. Twice have you ever seen
that in THE nfl? Before not. Really baker was really
annoyed all game, long AND i don't blame. Him so,
look Losing Mike evans is. Terrible Kate aughton has become
a player that people are going to. Want Tz johnson

(02:06:48):
is a player that people are going to. Want And
buka is a tremendous play Where Sean white is a.
Play The saints are not a great, team but they play,
quickly so the pace is. High this is a game
WHERE i think you want to load up on Your.
Buccaneers baker has a good. Week Rashad, White LIKE i,
Said Kate ott AND i love him And buka And Ted.
Johnson on the other, side you can't run On, tampa

(02:07:12):
so what are you going to? Do Spencer rattler is
likely going to throw. It Maybe rattler has a better
day than we think he. Is Chris, Olave Rashid, shaheed
all names you want in what could be attract?

Speaker 2 (02:07:22):
Me is it time to give up on the skilled
players for The Baltimore, ravens especially Because lamar is practiced
so little this?

Speaker 7 (02:07:28):
Week, NO i am all in on The ravens this.
WEEK i could not be more in on The ravens
THAN i am this. WEEK i Think lamar is going
to come back and have a really good. Week he's
practice in a limited. CAPACITY i think that there's no
need to push. IT i think he'll be. FINE i
Think Derrick henry is going to. SCORE i think he's
A flowers is going to have a really good. Week

(02:07:48):
on the other, side keep a watchful eye On Cole kmet's.
Injury If Cole comett is, Out Colston, loveland the rookie
out Of university Of, michigan he will be In ravens
do not stop the tight end very. Well this could
be its national tight ends, week could be A Colston
love and score touchdown.

Speaker 2 (02:08:05):
Week all, right what a terrific segue into The. Texans
Dalton schultz was the main go to. THREAT i would
assume That robert sala is going to game plan to
make sure that that he is not a part of the. Game,
well that being, said if he is the go to
guy and has been there for much of the. Season
With Nico collins probably not going to play this, week
Is schultz a heavy? Play tell me about The texans.

(02:08:25):
Offense we're really worried about how they're even going to
score any points a week against The niners.

Speaker 7 (02:08:31):
As, well you. SHOULD i mean it's not Like schultz
is a picture of health. Either so If niko's probably not,
PLAYING i don't Think Christian kirk. Plays i'll tell you
the guy who is super sneaky for The, Texans Jalen.
Nole because the one thing the forty nine ers don't
really do, well they don't clover slot receivers, well SO
i Think noel could be. SNEAKY i Mean Dalton schultz,

(02:08:53):
obviously WITH. Cj strouds number one, guy you Need Nick
chubb to do Something Nick. Chubb we knew was going
to bad matchup for him last, week, Right seattle very
good against the. RUN i think That Nick chubb has
to be able to get the you know on first.
Down let's make it second and. Five let's make it you,
know second and. Six you've got to get four or

(02:09:13):
five yards on first down or you're in big. Trouble
on the other side of the football here this, WEEK
i Expect Matt jones to play. AGAIN i Expect ricky piersoll.
BACK i Think George kittle's probably going to score a
touchdown this. WEEK i, mean he did nothing last. WEEK
i don't think that happens two weeks in a. Row
so The texans is a tough little stretch here for.
THEM i think they're in trouble all.

Speaker 2 (02:09:35):
Right time now for The Sports rvy Weekly rotro question
of the, WEEK i don't know how MUCH i have for,
Well i'm just curious your thoughts on some of the.
Backfields but you you Mentioned Woody marx And Nick. Chubb
how viable do you think either of those? Are are
you sticking with guys Like Rico dwell and some others
who have been splitting. Carries Isaiah pacheco just some of

(02:09:55):
these backfields are kind of.

Speaker 7 (02:09:56):
Muddied, Yeah so what happens is is that you really
need to look at each week and then the. Matchup
SO i was all in On Woody marks last. Week
Why seattle lets up the most receptions to opposing running? Backs,
now the crazy thing was they should have Used marx
more out of the. Backfield they gave the ball To
schultz more Than. Marx but what we didn't know is
That Nick chubb was going to do nothing. Right so

(02:10:18):
that each week when you go into a, game you've
got to, say how is this team going to? Play
so Against, buffalo how do you Beat? Buffalo you run the.
Football Rico daddald's going to get at least fifteen. Carries
Chuba hubbard's going to get at least ten to. TWELVE i,
mean they're going to try to ram the football down
The bill's throats because you really don't want to throw
on The. Bills so that's ONE i don't Love. Pacheco

(02:10:40):
keep your eyes On Brashod. Smith they're trying to get
him more. Snaps he's a very exciting young. Player Against,
washington The chiefs are going to have their way Against
washington And. Mariota so this is one of those games
where don't be shocked at See Brashot smith's FIRST nfl.

Speaker 2 (02:10:54):
Touchdown all, right time out for you to get your
questions and For Doctor rowe you may do. So it's
seven one three two one two five seven. Ninety seven
one three two one two five seven Ninety Doctor rodal
with us to the bottom of the hour here On
Sports talk seven, ninety the one and Only Doctor roto

(02:11:33):
with this to the bottom of the. Hour come on
in and join us at seven one three two one
two five seven. Ninety all, Right, SORRY i was thinking
About Prime Uri. Kerry go, On Doctor. Rotal your thought
is she is she At doctor r the first rounder right?
There Dr, roto she had a lock of the.

Speaker 7 (02:11:48):
Weeks that's the first. Round that's a lock of the.
Week walk that.

Speaker 2 (02:11:52):
One all, right seven one three two one two five seven.
Ninety let's talk To josh on seven ninety For Doctor.
Roto go. Ahead, Josh, hey, GUYS i.

Speaker 9 (02:12:02):
Got two separate flex, questions Please Juwan, jennings.

Speaker 2 (02:12:06):
P rvey Or terry. McLaurin and then on the other,
team it's Deebo Zamuel.

Speaker 14 (02:12:11):
Terry mclauran.

Speaker 13 (02:12:15):
Or good, Okay Marks.

Speaker 7 (02:12:17):
Okay so as of right, now the, EXPECTATIONS i don't
know whether we, know, well that's not. True McLaurin practice,
fully so there is a chance that he. Plays it's
not a great matchup for, him but if he's out,
there and Both diebo and McLaurin didn't have, limitations so
OBVIOUSLY i Think i'm going to lean Toward deebo on
the second one and McLaurin on the first.

Speaker 2 (02:12:39):
One all, right thank you very much for. That does
you still see Doctor? Roto do they have flex, Start
Crosskey merit Or Cuba? HUBBARD i Have rico O'Donnell already.
Starting what are your thoughts about The carolina backfield right?

Speaker 7 (02:12:55):
Now so, Listen they're going to run the ball about
twenty eight times Against, Buffalo SO i don't think it's
the craziest thing to have both guys in. There it's
like this Week Jeon robinson And tyler. L jeer they
both could do, Well So Crosskey, MERRITT i like the.
Player not a good matchup Against Kansas city on the,
road who stops the run real, Well so you almost

(02:13:17):
might want to go with Both, panthers who you know
are going to be committed to running the football With
Andy dalton back.

Speaker 2 (02:13:22):
There all, right it's how About Crosskey merritt Or Tuba
and if you can.

Speaker 7 (02:13:26):
Choose That's.

Speaker 2 (02:13:27):
Truba, okay very? Good uh seven one three two one
two Five sevenini seven one three two one two Five
sevanini For isaac on The Matt Thomas. Show Ross, isaac
what's your question For? Rodo?

Speaker 13 (02:13:38):
Yeah, hello was?

Speaker 8 (02:13:38):
Up.

Speaker 5 (02:13:38):
Y'ALL i got two separate.

Speaker 13 (02:13:40):
ONES i Got Chris olive Or terry, McClaren i Mean.

Speaker 4 (02:13:44):
Terry, McLaurin and the other one Is Kyle pitts Or Mason.

Speaker 7 (02:13:48):
Taylor, Okay so first we're going to love for sure
that game is going to be high, scoring AND i
won every part of that. Game second, one With pitts And.
Taylor we will only Play Mason taylor only if a he,
goes because right now he's questionable and be If Tyrod
taylor is a, quarterback If Justin fields is the, quarterback

(02:14:09):
don't even think about. It Play. Pitts but If Mason
taylor starts And Tyron taylor, starts Play Mason. Taylor he's
got a good, matchup.

Speaker 2 (02:14:18):
All, right thanks for the phone calling that seven one,
three two one two five. Seven, ani let's go TO
jp for Doctor rod'll go, AHEAD. Jp good.

Speaker 8 (02:14:26):
Doctor got two, questions tight end and wide. Receiver the
tight end question is SHOULD i go with Uh craft
From Green bay or SHOULD i go With Dallas? Goddard
and then for the wide receiver, Question waddle Versus Pittman.

Speaker 7 (02:14:40):
Junior, yeah, Okay so first of, All i'm Going. CRAFT
i think that's going to be a high scoring. GAME
i don't Hate, goddard BUT i really do Like. Kraft
the only THING i might say there is IF Aj
brown is officially, out Then goddard becomes more interesting to.
Me BUT i still feel like this is more of
A saklon in The DeVonta smith. Week on the other, side,

(02:15:00):
there this is a tough. ONE i Think miami is
in big, trouble But Jonathan taylor is gonna run all,
over all Over, tennessee all, over so this is gonna
be one of those. Weeks And Josh downs is, back
so this doesn't feel like A i Need Michael pittman,
week But miami's gonna Need Jalen. Waddell SO i Think
i'm gonna Go. Craft And. Waddle all.

Speaker 2 (02:15:20):
Right on the email side of, Thanks clifford, says which
three of these? Receivers, Bote, jennings born on doonsay which?
Three which one sits of that?

Speaker 7 (02:15:29):
GROUP i think you're gonna sit one of the forty nine.
Ers you're gonna Play, Bote you're gonna Play roman to
themsee WHO i think will have a better? Week give
Me Juwan, jennings but it's, close all?

Speaker 2 (02:15:42):
Right and which tight end? Plays kittle or Craft?

Speaker 7 (02:15:46):
Man two GUYS i really like a. LOT i think
the better matchup Is tucker craft in the higher scoring.
Game but don't count Out George. Kittle just because he
did nothing last week doesn't mean he's gonna do nothing this.
WEEK i like.

Speaker 2 (02:15:56):
HIM i like him all, Right Lamar jackson or way
do we can start Bon nicks this? Week what do you?

Speaker 7 (02:16:02):
Think? Oh that's an interesting. One I'm i'm in On Lamar,
Jackson i'm in On. Baltimore there's no they lose this.
Game it's over, Empty it's literally over. NOW i do
think Bon nicks is gonna have a Great week. Two
but look When jackson goes, crazy and this is one
of those games where he could go, crazy you can't
miss out all?

Speaker 2 (02:16:19):
Right seven one three two one two five. SEVEN ainti
for doctor roto seven one three two one two five, Seven, Ainti,
jannis you're on with Doctor. Rote go, Ahead, Janis, Janis you're?

Speaker 7 (02:16:32):
On? Ohkay not a QUESTION i would normally, ask but
based on last, Week kittle Or, Kelsey, yeah, no it's
a fair. QUESTION i Like kittle this, WEEK i really.
DO i think the thing With kelsey moving forward now
that you have a Healthy chiefs, offense right and this
is a completely healthy, team, right not completely but pretty much, Healthy,

(02:16:54):
Rashe rice And worthy In, Hollywood brown And JU i
don't think they're relying On kelsey as. Much so it's
not that he's not a bad, play sees a fine.
Play But craft is a special. Player AND i think
if we had a draft right now in, fantasy he'd
go two or three rounds earlier Than.

Speaker 2 (02:17:09):
Kelsey kelsey Or goddard in your mind this.

Speaker 7 (02:17:13):
WEEK i think It's goddard BECAUSE i once AGAIN i
do THINK Aj brown is going to be, out and
IF Aj brown's, Out goddard has to be looked at.

Speaker 2 (02:17:20):
All, Right Davonte, Smith scataboo And higgins who does Our
twitter follower sit in that.

Speaker 7 (02:17:26):
Three, well, look you never want to Sit scataboo because
when you would have done it two weeks, AGO i
don't want to play this guy against The. Eagles what
do you do he had three? Touchdowns, Well Jalen carter
was out AND i Think Jalen carter will be, back
AND i don't know whether it'll be, great but you
can't rule that guy. Out the problem WITH T higgins
is This Sauce gardner's. Out so Without Sauce gardner and
Without Garrett, Wilson cincinnati's going to put up five. Touchdowns

(02:17:49):
but you got to think they're going to run. One
you got to Think Jamar chase is probably going to
get one or. Two so it's not THAT i don't Like,
higgins but it's harder to Trust.

Speaker 2 (02:17:56):
Higgins, McMillan dobbs Are, pickins which two of the three.

Speaker 7 (02:18:00):
Play i'm Playing pickens for. SURE i Think i'm Playing.
Dobbs it's not THAT i don't like. McMillan i just
think they're going to commit to the run this.

Speaker 2 (02:18:08):
Week all, RIGHT a lot of us are Without Jamior,
gibbs Including Jana is On, Twitter, Algier Tracy junior Or
Kareem hunt as AN rb.

Speaker 7 (02:18:17):
Two, yeah so long As algier suits, UP i think
you play. Him so here's the interesting thing about The.
Falcons Jhon, robinson, right you can run the. Ball all
of a, sudden he runs down to the eighteen yard. Line,
okay they give him a. Breather algier comes in and
he scores on that next. Play you're, LIKE whoa DID
i just lose A Bijon robinson? Touchdown it? DID i
Think algier could go for sixty or seventy yards in

(02:18:38):
a touchdown this. Week so it's just one of those
games where you, know the More falcons you, have the Better.

Speaker 2 (02:18:43):
All Green bay Or cincinnati's.

Speaker 7 (02:18:46):
Defense cincinnati's, DEFENSE i know that's a. Shocker but Without Darrett,
Wilson i'm not even sure who The Josh reynolds there
number one. Receiver had it come to.

Speaker 2 (02:18:54):
That, okay flex this week half POINT ppr fourteen team
League Troy franklin Or Aljier and Is josh downs droppable For?

Speaker 7 (02:19:03):
Franklin, No Josh downs is not, droppable. RIGHT i would
Take Josh downs because when he has a big, week
he has a huge. WEEK i, Think, Look franklin's, fine
but did you see how he scored his touchdown last?
Week ball bounced off The sutton's hands And franklin caught.
IT i don't want to rely on that every week
so long As algiers, playing and he was a little
questionable early in the. Week if he's playing On, sunday

(02:19:25):
you play. Him LIKE i, said feels like a real
good bet for a.

Speaker 2 (02:19:28):
Touchdown robert on seven ninety for Doctor Rodal go, Ahead.

Speaker 7 (02:19:31):
Robert, hey how's it?

Speaker 5 (02:19:33):
Going DO i go With Cayla williams AT qb this?

Speaker 2 (02:19:35):
Week or DO i pick up Bow.

Speaker 7 (02:19:36):
Knicks, LOOK i don't Dislike Caleb. WILLIAMS i don't Trust Caleb. Williams,
okay Bow knicks is a very good player who runs
well WHO i think even last, year he just got
more confident as the season went. On that game last
week gave them a lot of confidence to come back like.

(02:19:57):
That now you play A cowboys, defense which is Terror
please give Me Bo, nicks all?

Speaker 2 (02:20:02):
Right Starting Daniel jones Or drake May.

Speaker 7 (02:20:07):
Ooh this is a closer. One the only Reason i'm
going to start may is BECAUSE i think that The
colts game could get out of. Hand and when it
goes out of, hand Maybe Daniel jones throws like fo
one hundred and eighty yards in a touchdown Because Jonathan
taylor ran for. Two maybe the defense got a defensive.
Touchdown it's got me A colt's. Onslaught SO i think
make it have two or three, touchdowns all?

Speaker 2 (02:20:28):
Right and should a listener Drop Jackson dart and pick
Up Jordan.

Speaker 7 (02:20:32):
Love you, KNOW i never want to tell you somebody
to do, that Because Jackson dart runs the. Football so
in those weeks where he gets like forty or fifty
yards rushing in a touchdown to eleven points right, there
he throws for another two hundred and in a touchdown
he got. Fourteen i'm not good at, math BUT i
have twenty five points right there from a, quarterback and
that's going to win you a lot of.

Speaker 2 (02:20:51):
Weeks all, Right let's go To gino In San antonio Or,
houston depending where he. Is, gino you're on with Doctor.

Speaker 7 (02:20:57):
Roto, hey what's Up tonio right?

Speaker 4 (02:21:00):
Now But i'm.

Speaker 7 (02:21:00):
WONDERING i guess you kind of almost answered my. Question
who SHOULD i? Start Daniel jones Or Baker? Mayfield, Oh
Baker mayfield all. DAY i have those two guys in
one of my, Leagues i'm Starting Baker mayfield in a
game where they're going to be. Throwing baker's annoyed after last.
Week they're on by next. WEEK i think they could
put up forty this.

Speaker 2 (02:21:19):
Week all, right, Ladies, jim we Asked Doctor rodo once
week to give us an unbelievable. Selection the guy is
gonna make our week for. Us he is my, friend
he Is Doctor, roto and he's also gonna provide You
Doctor rodo's lock of the.

Speaker 7 (02:21:33):
Week and he's their worst team right now defensively Than Miami.
Dolphins they can't stop the. Run Jon, Robinson, hello my.
Friend one hundred and twenty five yards in one, touchdown maybe.
Two this is gonna be one Where mike McDaniel may
not even make it out of a. Stadium he could
be fired On monday.

Speaker 2 (02:21:52):

Speaker 2 (02:23:48):
World there's nowhere again eligible Non florida stories literally can
be from anywhere outside the state Of. Florida it's our
Non florida stories part of the show here On Sports
Talk Cemoniy believe it or not, today it's all things
about as hell you or? Not was It San Fransco

(02:24:08):

Speaker 13 (02:24:09):
That?

Speaker 2 (02:24:11):
Yes, OKAY i THOUGHT i was going with The houston.
Story it just didn't make. Sense i'm going to go
on to another story somewhere.

Speaker 7 (02:24:20):
Else.

Speaker 2 (02:24:20):
Gentlemen. UH a lot of people go to church to
hear their, sermons get their sense of. Spirituality it's a
place of, quiet it's a place of, reflection, right all
the things that the church can offer you in to
each his own well compigence At Legacy Faith church In Doppin, County, Pennsylvania,

(02:24:42):
well they had a different type of. Service they were
confronted by their, Pastor Philip. Thornton you're, saying what Did
Philip thornton? Do he was wearing and wielding an assault
style rifle to illustrate his points during a. Sermon thorough
were his. Points thornton used the firearm to, quote clear

(02:25:04):
the room or use spiritual violence against. Unbelief at Times
thornton Point at Times thornton pointed the gun at the
congregation with a laser bouncing off of church. Members If
i'm going to church and my pastor has got an
assault style rifle attached to his, Body i'm running out

(02:25:25):
of there as fast as. Possible the church released a
statement after concerns were brought to, light saying the gun was,
disabled the firing pan was, removed it was cleared and
publicly known to be m. Free But thornton also SAID
i could get, you any one of. You the statement
closed with gratitude for bringing quote great attention to the.
Church after, all there's no such thing as bad. Publicity,

(02:25:48):
YEAH i believe there. IS i am not of the
BELIEF rossi that there is no such thing as bad.
PUBLICITY i think a pasture or a man of the
cloth up on the dais saying what he's saying with
a firearm is not a great way to really inspire the.
Congregation that's one day to get people to. Donate you better,
donate you Gonna this thing is staring at you right

(02:26:10):
now in. CHURCH i don't. Know i've never been threatened
to church by violence like. That, well you, Know i've
been badgered by the pastor in my. DAY i, mean
he wants you to, contribute for. Sure he just wants
you to stop drinking so much coffee. Too it's another. Level,
yeah but, MAN i don't need an assault style right
at The mormon, church, well you, know you're just you
just you go to you, know you're in the middle
of the. Hummeline you go get a cup of. Coffee they're,

(02:26:31):
like you just stay in. Here you've done that. Once,
okay it was during a it was during a. Gemonished
it was during the conversion classes THAT i have taken
when The holy water burned your, skin you. Know so
that so that delicious caffe to coffee THAT i needed
for a nine to thirty wake, up get some sacrament

(02:26:51):
wine could Be, YEAH i didn't THINK i should be
judged by. That but you, AGAIN i don't think you
have an assault style rifle should be up in front
of the. Day probably. Not and that's my Non florida
stores In Doppin, County. Pennsylvania oh, OKAY i forgot to
check with With. Jonathan I'm, baltimore are you, no, no, no, no,
okay Nice Baltimore's baltimore's a sweet spot for. Us by the,

(02:27:11):
Way Baltimore county where there was a young man Named Taki.
Allen he Was, Taki, taki TAK i, okay it's a.
Key Maybe, NO i think taki sounds. Good GO. Takei
allen was sitting with Friends monday night outside Of Kinwood High,
school eating a bag of chips after our football, practice
just hanging, out and about twenty minutes, later police officers

(02:27:34):
showed up with guns walking towards. Him eight cop cars
came pulling. Up according to Mister, allen no, RELATION i
don't believe To Jonathan, allen you got any family In. Baltimore, no, no,
No we're. Good at, FIRST i didn't know where they were.
Going and then they started walking towards me with, guns
talking about get on the, ground AND i was like. What,

(02:27:58):
well he was informed by police after being put on his,
knees held behind with his hands behind his back and
cuffed that AN ai detector looking at cameras thought he
had a gun in his? Hand what did he have
a bag of? Doritos that's a very easy. MISIDENTIFICATION i

(02:28:21):
just saw. This, actually he had a bag Of dorito's
in his, hand and THIS ai detector alerted authorities that
he had a, gun so they all pulled up with
guns drawn and put him down and cuffed. Him, thankfully
nothing crazy happened, here but this is What i'm highlighting
the dangers OF. Ai MAY i ask one very important, Question,

(02:28:42):
yes cool ranch or a regular? Flavor they? Were it
looks like they were, Not, JOE i WISH i prefer
the cool. Ranch you, know the first DRILL i ever
had was the the old. Oglane oh, yeah they don't
do those. ANYMORE i don't. Think so everything is like
fire and, yes salsa. Burde so, unfortunately the principle of

(02:29:05):
course had to release a statement. Apologizing please note that
ensuring the safety to our students in school community is
what of our highest. Priorities blah blah blah blah. Blah
but it was just a dorito's. Bag, thankfully nothing worse,
happened but he was cuffed and then he was, like

(02:29:25):
once police determined that he did not have a, weapon
can he sue the police. Department it feels like you
should be able to do artificial intelligence Saying i've got
A dorito's bag and they're Saying i've got a weapon
in my, hand got a great and they're pulling up
with eight guns. DRAWN i, mean that's a lot of
emotional distress for. Sure at least get like a lifetime

(02:29:47):
bag of chips or, something, yes Because i'm sure he
didn't want to eat the chips that he was sitting.
