Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Matt Thomas Show with Ross.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
One ah down, good morning, and welcome you want Thursday
in this show to the Matt Thomas Show with Ross.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
This is Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
I'll break up, thous. I'm all baby two.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
We're gonna play some highlights, but we are searching for
them right now.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
I promise you. The Rockets were bad of the bone
hi Ross. Hey Matthew, how are you doing great?

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Rockets did win yesterday, dominant second half after kind of
a I wouldn't say lackluster first half. Way too many
turnovers in the first half and a lot of Maxine
Rainode highlights which I didn't have to have in my
bingo card. For the general public, that's Houston, Texas and
really the rest of the NBA, who like, who the

(01:04):
hell is Maximum Rhinod.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
We got to find that out. We got Russell west
Broll last night.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
We got Russell Westbrook Duncan on the Rockets and blank
talking after it. But you know what, he's playing for
a five win basketball team. Gotta be careful on they go,
blank talking, says Chris Paul. Uh, well, well we'll see
future Houston Rocket Chris Paul. Yeah, no, No, no, no, no,
I ain't got anybody got time for that. I'm just kidding.

(01:33):
I think, Um, I wouldn't say kick the tires, but
I wouldn't. No, no, I'm saying I didn't like, Hey,
y'all want to make a phone call, and you're saying
you would kick the tires. No, no, no, no no. At first,
I wouldn't kick the tires. Okay, but I didn't do
a whole lot of kicking the tires. On whether the
Rockets roll is rockets inside, yeah, I mean I'm the inside.

(01:54):
I meant rockets insider. I'm on Texans. Oh yeah, I
gave you again. Kens are running by coming back. I
think I told you the next wow as the Alsharire
will be ginning a penalty for hitting Pat Mahomes late
this Sunday.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
Okay, let's see. No, yeah, I feel very confident on that.
I do. I do all right? Where we're going with this? Oh,
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
I hope God that does not happen. Now I'll never
hear the end of it. I didn't have you.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
I mean again, nobody else in the marketplace to tell
you the Joe Mixon was gonna play this year. I
don't listen to anybody else in the marketplace, so I
can't confirm. So there's one person tell me nobody in
the marketplace is saying anything.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
And I just didn't have to believe you.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
That's true, that's true.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
I don't.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Okay, we do a real talk Thursday or story. I
listened to music. I listen to podcasts. I don't for
a couple of reasons. I like to get away from
it because I watch a ton of sports and then
I talk it for four hours and I'm getting invested
in it. I like to get away when I'm not
in this seat. I unfortunately do not have to watch games.

(03:03):
I would do way too much hate listening. Okay, there's
a lot I don't do that. So that's the problem
I have, and I'm trying to get better at it.
And I will say, in fairness of my partner here,
he's always trying to make me a better person.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
I am.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Actually it's sometimes it feels like we're spitting into the wind.
But I'm going to fight the battle matter. You keep
doing it, my friend, You keep doing it. Good morning, everybody.
That's sex ten o five. What a lozzy weather stretch
we had it rained the the way home last night,
and it rained about seventy half percent of the time.
Get him here to the office. As long as you'r
home and safe. Though it's good. I like the rain.

(03:35):
I'm only happy when it rains. There are amazing rain songs.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
Okay, have we done a fantasy We don't want to
know if we've done a rain No, because we did,
because we argued over who could take thunderstruck.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
I think if it was, if it was eligible, and
what do we say about it? I don't remember all
these fantasy fives run to do a rain song.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
We I mean, we could do it again. That's probably
we've done something.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
We've done.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
We've done some repeats. We actually bring the other guys
in sports, women in sports. We've done that twice. We're
due for a refresh on that. Sophia Forgar's still the
hottest woman on earth. She's the hottest woman in sports. Yeah,
she plays for I don't know, manage soccer games. Yeah,
I got it, I get it all right. So, yeah,
the Rockets won yesterday. Yes, and we will play some
highlights over the course of a couple of hours.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
Uh, and beat up on the Sacramento Kings.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
We have Yazd the Goombo maybe trying to work his
way out of Milwaukee, and you and I have kind
of had this conversation, and I might be I mean,
I very well could be wrong.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
I could be my minority.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
I don't think if the Rockets were to make a
move on this, which I think would be unlikely, but
if they did, I don't think the name of men
Thompson would be.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
Part of the mix. Okay, I think, in my mind
not that Rafel and I have broken bread over this.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Maybe in this law as trip, I'm taking it in a
couple weeks. Maybe he'll do that, don't you guys hang out?
I think we show to the Italian embassy. He he's like,
let's cook at coffee on the road on the next
last rotra Like I got to have a far our
shover dating. Oh that was a good thought. At least,
I said, yeah, yeah, that pretty nice off. I appreciate
the offer. I will say this, Uh, I think a
men's untouchable, I really do. Okay, I'd say he's Luca

(05:23):
Dunchiss has taught us that no one is untouchable. That
is accurate, but that's just a flawed basketball probably that's true,
they're paying the price with nucle Dunchess is greater than
a mend Thompson. Correct, you're gonna fight me on that. No,
I can't fight I should but but.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
But let me put it this way.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
Let's do this, and this probably has happened for a
lot of different players and teams of a variety of
sports teams. I think Ross, you can be not the
best player, but you can be untouchable to a sports team.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Of course you could be. C. J.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
Stroud is untouchable for the Texans right now, but I
don't know. I mean, there's ten better quarterbacks, right Jane
Daniels probably maybe has more value or whoever, but they
that's he's not going to come up in trades. Yeah,
but Johannistintakopa in the NBA, everybody's on the table. And
by the way, do he leave the game yesterday? It

(06:16):
was a calf injury that Doc Rivers said after the game,
which I forgot he was even their coach.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
What are they thinking?

Speaker 1 (06:22):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (06:23):
Doc Rivers saying after the game that it is they
have confirmed that it's not an achilles injury.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
But what has led to another we have seen more
when in doubt the calf eventually works his way.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
They generally guys who are pushing themselves in the playoffs
as well, Like I mean, well Wemby had a calf strain,
Zion's got every string possible. More and more soft tissue
issues in the in the NBA, they've been cropping up lately.
But Jiannis last year averaged thirty points, twelve rebounds, six

(06:55):
and a half assists, all three numbers which significantly clear
A men Thompson, and he finished eighth and the defensive
Player of the Year, and Amn was NBA First Team
All Defense, as was Jannis. That's the type of player
we're talking about now. Of course, when you factor in age,
you factor in contract, and then that's when things kind
of get a little bit different. But well, okay, so
that so that makes my point is that if it

(07:17):
is player for player, you course make the deal.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
But it's not player for player. There are other parameters. Two,
it's gonna costume four value A men Thompson. I think
in the end, the Rockets mind is more valuable to
the Rockets at his level, his age, his salary, then
Giannis would be to the Rockets. Now again, if you
if Yannis called rafel Stoner called the Fertiitas and said, Hey,
I want to come play for Houston.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
They figure something out. My guess would be several first
round picks. I would think probably would be two or
three other players. We've not mentioned their names. I just
in my used to be large. Are the Bucks going
to take? What? What are you offering?

Speaker 4 (07:57):
Then?

Speaker 1 (07:57):
Well you are.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
You could give him Jabbar, you give him out Burn,
give them Tario. Do your give Alpraham before you would
give him in. I'm not saying I'm not saying I
would do any of this, but I'm saying, if you
can't have two untouchables.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
You can't. You can't.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
You cannot work in a world of sports and say
I've got the only good players. I the ones my
my franchise. Young guys are my untouchables. Well, this ties
into the Kevin Durant conversation we had in the offseason,
because in theory, you are correct the question as far
as you know the value in being happy. I'm sure
the Rockets love him and Thompson. They're very happy with

(08:31):
him in Thompson and Alprin Shingun and Jabari Smith Jr.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
The question is where.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
Do the Rockets see themselves and do they see themselves
getting to where they want to be with what they have?

Speaker 1 (08:42):
That answer was no when it came to Kevin Durant.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Is that answer no when it comes to the gold
standard right now in the NBA is the Oklahoma City
Thunder and they are in your conference. So you can
say they're there if you if you wave a magic
wand and get the Thunder out of the NBA, the
Rockets are Tier one contenders, but right now they're Tier

(09:05):
two because of the death star that is the Oklahoma
City Thunder. So if you're saying to yourself, the only
way can we get close to that with what we
have or do we need to push all our chips
in and get closer some other way with more superstar
talent that that comes available. But you are so forward
heavy as it is to begin with you. If you're
gonna go make a move sports Rvy, well you're gonna
go on for backcourt pound. Now, well you're gonna clear

(09:26):
guys up though, You're gonna, like you said, you're gonna
trade Jabari, maybe Alpburn, maybe a men Thompson, I mean
a men Thompson.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
I know we don't want to use that name. But
a guy.

Speaker 2 (09:36):
Who can't who plays great defense, can't shoot and is
a good playmaker and a good and paint Gianni's is
the better version of what Amn Thompson is right now. Uh,
He's the more evolved, better version of a men. What
does a men Thompson do better than Yannis attends a gumbo?
Probably ball handling, I don't think so. I mean probably

(09:59):
there are eternal ratio here's my just my and maybe
because maybe I'm too close to them because I love
him in a lot, I love him in too.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
There's more trend on the tires. Yes, there's a significant
salary distribution change in that.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
Yes, you're gonna have to match some a lot of money.
And I don't know if it's the rule would be.
There's one basketball yeah, so I mean, well it's it's
certainly interesting for a discussion. I don't think it's gonna happen. No, Honestly,
the team I think would to be worried about. I

(10:39):
think it's the Knicks one and number two. I think
maybe san Antonio staying in the East. Oh, don't say that,
just throwing it out there. Those would be the two
teams if you were to make if I was to
make an educated guest, keep him out of the West.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
Please, it's enough. It's been two plus decades of this.
The West is ridiculous. It's absurd how good it's been.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
And now in your entire career broadcasting, have you ever
had the East? No, it's been since I was I
was like in middle school. I was a kid Boston, Philadelphia.
I was Chicago with Jordan's when it was the Bulls
and it was the Heat and the Knicks. Yeah, and
I don't know, the Pacers, like maybe the East the turn.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Of the century. It's the last twenty five years. Yes,
it's too much. I feel like, who tell your side
Feld keep them in the eights.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
That's wrong with us.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
I don't know, it's your fault. Keep him in the East.
How about we just win the West and we'll take
our chance against say, by the East.

Speaker 3 (11:43):
Okay, Well, hey, everyone's seven with Oklahoma City. Remember I
told you that yesterday.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
Well, if you got Nikolakic on the squad, you got
Nikola Jokic went full on insane mode for seven games
and they lost with Aaron Gordon, with Jamal Murray, did
they still have Michael Porter?

Speaker 1 (12:04):
Junior last year.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
Yes, I traded him in the offseason. History will not
repeat itself. Let's get a banner up here. That's me
being positive. Yeah, I pushed the seven and they lost.
All right on, Rockets got pushed a seven and lost
to the Warrior. I ain't worried about them Warriors, shell
of what they used to be and what we were

(12:25):
saying this time that this time, no, no, no, no.
I look, we went to Golden STATEUM one. You know
how rare that is. I've been going there for ten years.
I've seen like three victories in San Francisco on my life.

Speaker 5 (12:34):
Eh.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
All right, you say you're not scared of the boogeyman,
Steph Curry, mister night Knight.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
I'm I'm afraid of people. I ain't afraid of Boogieyman.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
Okay, Rockets can lease, let's say this Rockets and just
ripe ad punch current.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
Nobody send this to uh in this audio westward.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
Now they're fine.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
Hey, on the show today, I just don't get it
at eleven thirty, which that's self explanatory. There are things
out life you just don't get and we'll get to
that on the show at twelve noon day well, if
you don could join us for his weekly visit at
twelve fifty, the Return of the Rotten Five. It's been
a few weeks, Rossy. Have you been able to spend
Oh man, We've been in a lab. Yeah, updating the spreadsheets,

(13:12):
running our algorithm millions of iterations.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
Remember, it takes absolutely no talent to give you the
five best teams in the NFL. We asked Sports RV
to give us the five worst teams. Will have it
for you today and then we gotta to believe it
or not. Today it one fifty. So I got a
busy show here and we want you to be a
part of it. We love you ten o'clockers. I gotta
be asked with you. I think I have a better
relationship with the ten oclockers than I do with eleven
and twelve railers. Why is that? Because I just feel
like you're there for us and that means a lot

(13:38):
to us. We do appreciate you.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
We love ten to two all the way through, but
we really appreciate the ten oclockers. I met a great
listener yesterday who won my Rockets tickets really for knowing
that I there should be no photos of me in
a bikini, which is really smart on his part. Did
you sign an autograph? I didn't ask for you, didn't
ask for one, didn't ask for a picture, didn't ask
for an autograph. He just said, Matt, thank you very much.

Speaker 6 (13:58):
No what.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
He was just soaking in the moment. That's beautiful. He's like, God,
it is so great to meet you.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
Man.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
You are remarkably handsome. Now he said, thank you very
much for there's zero chance.

Speaker 2 (14:06):
He said that ten fifteen of the Matt Thomas Show
with Ross seven one three two one two five seven ninety.
That's seven one three two one two five seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (14:27):
Matt and Ross with you here.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
We were just talking about I need to buy uh
Rossia University of Rhde Island shirt. Yesterday was early signing
day and congratulations to you.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
It's weird because the Humble Id School District does one
big signing day in February and that's where I'll be
off that day because we're going to have all of
our coaches come in and teammates and like that.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
Wonderful. But yesterday was kind of a you can officially
sign and do your things. It was kind of very
informal thing and I was you know, I wanted I
wanted to be there, but I.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
Needed to be with you. So may be the big one.
I'll beat the big one. That's fine, I'm taking Yeah,
we ross solo that day. But what's the date that's
in fa. You're good, right there, you're good. I got
a calendar now, I'm ready. I'm prepared.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
Have you got one for twenty twenty six? By the way, yeah,
look well it goes, it goes until April.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
I'm going to tell you right now, tomorrow the shows
shut up, the shows ten to two.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
Yes, I gotta beat the rien hit five.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
Okay, as soon as it shows up with tomorrow, we're
going to rough as Rax okay, or to Maples and
we're going to get you a timer at day Timer
for twenty twenty six. Ok I just want nothing bigger
than eight by ten. You need one size bigger than that. No,
this is fine. It's you got too much chicken scratch.
You're a scratcher chicken scratch. I am a doodler. Look,
I make doodles. I don't know why, Jonathan, you wore

(15:42):
a doodler or a scratcher. Joet doodler all day. Be
a doodler. Don't be a diddler. That should be a
T shirt. No, it shouldn't, by the way, real quick, yes,
oh you know, I'll say that far.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
I just don't get it.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
Later on, I guess, uh, because I got some issues Facebook.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
Well, don't go on there.

Speaker 2 (16:02):
This this is my this is my advice for Facebook
navigating Facebook.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
Don't don't go on there.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
It's misinformation, it's AI ridden Instagram with I'm getting about
fed up with all this Instagram AI as well.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
Yeah, we're we're so I'm reading these stories again. I shaw,
I'm saying this.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
I'll to say this, and I have to go to
legit websites to see if these Facebook stores that are
being put up there are accurate.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
And nine times out of ten the Facebook stories.

Speaker 3 (16:30):
Are made up.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
Yes, I know it's ridiculous. Mark Zuckerberg needs to do
something about this. So we'll talk more about this, and said,
and I just don't get it. Coming up a little
bit later on seven one three two five seven ninety
seven one three two one two five seven hoey, where
we will have an updated injury report from the textans
later today.

Speaker 1 (16:49):
But are we a little bit nervous?

Speaker 2 (16:51):
How lengthy the one was for a Wednesday or are
we Like I'm saying, it's mid to late season, and
as you kind, yeah today yesterday. I wake me up
up when it's Thursday, and really wake me up when
it's Friday.

Speaker 1 (17:02):
Yeah, yeah, I would have to go back.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
I just want to make sure because there were some
significant players on there with some things that would just like,
for instance, when it's Will Anderson rest, okay, but.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
He's got like multiple animates. Is he gonna walk out
there at sixty percent?

Speaker 2 (17:17):
He's been mauling quarterbacks for fourteen thirteen weeks, So I'm
okay with that. Get him some rest, all right? So,
like I said, the report today will be a little
more closer to it. Paying good attention, of course. Our
Texans reporter texts, uh Adam Wexer will be out there,
our Texans insider, we appreciate him. He doesn't break stories.

Speaker 3 (17:35):
I do.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
Period.

Speaker 3 (17:36):
He broke who wasn't in practice yesterday. He didn't break it.
He wasn't by himself out there. He didn't didn't see
your break show me your tweet. I didn't see you
breaking any stories. I've told you about Joe Mixon six
months ago, you said you don't think he's making it. No, no,
I said.

Speaker 2 (17:50):
He didn't pass Texans Insider Robert on seven ninety ten,
twenty four Robert, good morning to becoming my favorite bit.

Speaker 6 (17:58):
Good morning, Matt, Good morning pretending my call. I absolutely
love you guys. You've helped me through a lot of
sleepy mornings driving my truck, so I appreciate it. Hey,
I honestly think the Rockets should just not even entertain
the Yannis trade because for the simple fact that the

(18:20):
standard that they are the NBA's going for right is
to be able to compete with Oklahoma City thunder right
at which the Rockets, with their team that they have,
were able to do that and push them to a
double overtime, and I really think that it would be
a seven game series between those two. And so why
would you even entertain breaking up your core to get

(18:43):
a guy that you know, yes, the numbers don't lie
for him, but you also are wanting to, you know,
because Oklahoma City is not going anywhere for a while
because they're young. And then I was reading something about
draft picks that they might have control of, like top
to top ten draft picks.

Speaker 3 (19:02):
Yeah, yeah, it's.

Speaker 6 (19:04):
Gonna get worse they're they're yeah, they're not going anywhere.
So why would you break up your young core that
you're trying to compete with them, that you already did
compete with them, and push them to a double overtime.
I just think, you know, it's it's insanity that even
for them, Like I mean, I obviously you guys in
the media are entertaining it, but I just don't. I

(19:26):
don't think the Rockets should even uh entertain it. I mean,
it would be a joke. And if you look at
the Warriors, they they didn't break up their core too,
you know, they they added pieces that they saw fit,
you know, that didn't break the bank or Durant though.

Speaker 1 (19:45):
Yeah, but I mean, yeah.

Speaker 6 (19:46):
I'm saying like they didn't break up they didn't break
up their core to.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
Bring him in, right because he was a free agent
and and they were and Kevin Durant took a discount. Okay,
But anyway, the part of one problem with what you're
talking about is Kevin Durant is thirty seven years old.
So if you want to then it depends you make
some valid arguments to Robert Is, the Rockets and Roughhels
don't have to weigh what they did this offseason. They said,
do we want to trust our young player, that being

(20:13):
Jalen Green, or do we want to go for this
established player, that being Kevin Durant And it also cost
him Dylan Brooks, so they're going to have to do
that again. Do they want to trust this young court
plus Kevin Durant and think that they can grow and develop,
or do they want to push all their chips in
to give themselves a better chance for a championship now

(20:34):
but a worse chance for championships down the road.

Speaker 6 (20:37):
I just I personally don't see that Jannis would put
them to don't. I don't think that he would make
them what they are already now. I think they have
the best chance right now to give Oklahoma City fits
because they already did.

Speaker 3 (20:58):
They've proven that they did.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
I think they need to leave.

Speaker 6 (21:01):
It alone and run this for the rest of the
season and see what happens.

Speaker 4 (21:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (21:06):
I appreciate you. Yeah, thanks Robert.

Speaker 3 (21:08):
That's good stuff. That's a good point.

Speaker 2 (21:10):
I mean, it's a fair point if you if you
think they have enough. I don't think they have enough
to beat the Oklahoma City Thunder. I don't know if
they have enough if they're giving up men Thompson plus
whatever to get you honest, if they have enough so
that that these are just the things you have to
think about.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
Does it get you closer?

Speaker 3 (21:27):
How much?

Speaker 2 (21:28):
And this is kind of you know, back to Darrel Morial,
which of who Rufhelstone is a disciple. You You everything
is up to chance and you all you can do
is give yourself the best chance and weighing that with
that the here and the now in the future. If
you're giving up first round picks, can I give you

(21:51):
a biased reason why I think rockets Oklahoma City could
be a sexy not coin flip. It's not a quick flip,
but not a I don't know what phrase. Is not
a slam dunk for Oklahoma City. Again, a purely biased
viewpoint of this, and I'll do it next. Okay, ten

(22:12):
twenty nine on Sports Talk seven ninety seven one three
two one two five seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
Ten thirty four. It is Madden Ross.

Speaker 3 (22:26):
Jonathan's our producer and I have all of you with
us today. Thank you very much for being a part
of this show. It means a lot to us. We
are here for a full four hours. I'm just happy
I can see Jonathan, I'm like, hey, yeah, I mean,
so far we've had one phone called it worked.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
I've seen John in the whole happen. It's a beautiful
miracles here at the ol Heart. You know, I enjoyed
the little things in life, Matt, I think so, I
think so. All right, So my point is this, mm hmmm,
if what do they say about the playoffs when the
playoffs happened? The style of play, Uh, it's knockdown out physicality,

(23:01):
and who plays that really really well? The Detroit Pistons, okay,
in the Western Conference. Oh, the Houston Rockets they do, Yes,
they do. The Rockets are one of the slowest paced
teams in the NBA. Not intentionally, it's just kind of
how they're built now and men and Thompson wants to
go up and down the court after grabbing a rebound
and go link to the floor and jam went in
front of your face. That's different, but generally they work

(23:22):
shot clock, They move the ball around. They screened the
hell out of people, double screens, triple screens. You got
two amazing pick and roll guys, and Steven Adams and
out bring Shangoon. You got you know, Kevin Durant's gonna
dribble the ball.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
You gotta.

Speaker 2 (23:34):
I mean, it's your When you go to a Rockets
game or watch them on television or thing hopefully listen
on a radio, you are not listening to a track
meet mm hmm. So that plays well to what basketball
is in April. And I really wish that the style
of play would be the same in the regular season.
But I've been wishing for that for twenty years and
that's never gonna happen. The game slows down, it gets muckier.

(23:58):
You rely on free throw shooting, you rely on possessions,
you rely on defense, you rely on things that you
thought were getting calls.

Speaker 1 (24:05):
You don't get.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
All the things I'm describing to you is why I
think the Rockets now they wouldn't be the favorites. And
as much as I love the Rockets, they wouldn't be
the favorites in the series.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
And I think Oklahoma City is going to be the
could be the start to finish potentially being a champion,
and certainly start to finish favorite.

Speaker 2 (24:22):
But if a somebody, it's gonna get them a run
for their money. Maybe Taket six, maybe Ticket seven, and
maybe pull off an opset. It'd be a team like
the Houston Rockets who played like this and it's perfect
for them that type of year, time of year. Yeah,
it's just going to boil down to how much more
of a chance do you think it gives you? Is

(24:43):
that chance negligible? And then what is it going to
cost you to get to that chance? And I'm gonna
guarantee you they're running models and doing all this, and
I know you talk about nerds not having sex and
all this. The Rockets have nerds, they have droves, nerves,
nerds and droves, a sea of nerds, yes, and the
sea of poonhounds.

Speaker 1 (25:02):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (25:03):
Are running models and saying we have this percent chance
to win the championship. Now, we have this percent chance
to win the championship if we get Giannis and give
up Amen or first a first round picks or whatever.
So then rafel Stone is gonna spit out a number
and he's gonna say, do I, first of all, do
I believe these numbers? Every number needs context and every number,

(25:24):
you know, should be under scrutiny. And then he's gonna say, is.

Speaker 1 (25:29):
This worth it?

Speaker 2 (25:31):
And where do our odds go from this year to
next year to the year after, because the counter argument
from our caller the last segment was hey, let this
young core grow. That is true because you have Amen
and Jabbari and Alpi who are all twenty three years
and younger. The problem is this Kevin Durant guy is

(25:51):
thirty seven. Steven Adams Matt, I think you know you've
talked to him a couple of times, like he he's
kind of a little bit of a secret sauce to
the rocket success as well. And he's no spring chicken,
and you need all those types. It's not only your
top one, two three, it's your four, five, six, seven
if you want to beat the Oklahoma City Thunder. So

(26:11):
it's it's a lot of moving parts. It's a lot
to consider. Raphael Stone is really smart. He's made a
lot of good move and great moves things that I
didn't think we're going to work out that have So
he knows more than I do. And he's going to
weigh this, by the way, and we're not gonna let
the show dominant, because again it's just trade conjection. Yeah,
but it is interesting. I went to ESPN's trade machine.

(26:32):
No no, no, no, Okay, I was gonna say the trade well,
I mean, I do like the trade machine. What is
it the uh oh, that's what they call the opening page.
What is it called the homepage? Homepage?

Speaker 1 (26:42):
Let's play out Giannis's trade market. Oh okay, I've offers,
including how the Rockets could land him. Now see they're uh,
they do that.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
They have your IP address or your account or whatever,
and they put rocket stuff in the front.

Speaker 3 (26:56):
That happens.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
No, that's how they get me because they put longhorn
stuff in there, not to talk about long horm. Okay,
so let me just tell you that there are five trades,
five different teams, and I want to go into particulars
of them because I don't think you care whether Atlanta
is going to get back.

Speaker 3 (27:08):
I don't, we don't care.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
Atlanta Hawks would be one team they're thinking about, The
New York Knicks would be another team. Another team State
I mentioned San Antonio, huh, and Golden State would be
a team. And the fifth team in that group that
this ESPN story is running about would be the Houston Rockets.
Though they're projecting if this is just what would be
the case, the Rockets would get Giannis and his brother Thanasis.

(27:31):
Oh thank god, they're really a duo.

Speaker 1 (27:37):
You get one with the boat, you get both. You
don't get just you know what n Brownni around.

Speaker 2 (27:43):
Rockets would have to give up in return. According to
ESPN Alpi fred In a twenty twenty seven first round
pick that seems light, that seems like get or done.

Speaker 3 (27:55):
I mean, if so, I'm going to say yes to
that fastest, I'm.

Speaker 1 (27:58):
Going to have you.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
When I tell you, I really believe the men's untouchable.

Speaker 2 (28:06):
Okay, And like I said, unless literally i'm talking about
we're talking about a two time MVP here, yes, like
he is on a very short list. It would be
like him Yo kich and he's on and you honest,
he's on the friend So I'm not I'm not calling
you crazy, I understand. Uh, I'm just saying it would
be like you know, Yo kicch don Chic Sga like
anyway that at the very Nurkic. Now, you can't have

(28:29):
a Nurkic or Dario sarch either. We're good on that.
Not a yakasovicis any of those guys. So it's gonna
be fun. I do believe that the NBA trade deadline
is prop now for our audience. Baseball trade deadline is
way more intriguing, but basketball is not too far behind

(28:51):
when it comes to number two in terms of man.
I like, when the NFL trade deadline came in past,
we're kind of like, Okay, it's fine, nothing, nothing happened.
We weren't expecting anything from Nick Asia and we didn't
get anything from Nick Asserio. I was just kind of curious.
I just pulled this up. The Ringer did a top
one hundred NBA players right now. This is updated November
twenty sixth, so that's less than a week ago or

(29:12):
about a week ago. Yeah, Yolkic one, SGA two, Yiannis three.
Then Doncwimby is the top one. So if I'm look,
if I'm Milwaukee and looking at these trade proposals, I
don't I think I can find a better deal than
the what the Rockets would in theory would be offering.
They have Shingoon fourteenth. He wakes up with a triple

(29:32):
bubble almost every night.

Speaker 3 (29:34):
We give it up a lot.

Speaker 7 (29:35):
EASi.

Speaker 1 (29:36):
She had a big old scratchy out on his arm
last night too.

Speaker 2 (29:38):
That's always man, these big all these stretches, all the
RL shoulders, and I remember a yow Yows used to
look like somebody was hitting them with a rake every game. Enough,
go cut y'all's nails. You guys are multi millionaires. Manicure
those bad boys. I'm in Thompson, number thirty four on
this list. That's great, he's cracked the top fifty. Yeah,
he's good, really really good. Probably could have had even

(29:59):
more points in a handle. There were a lot of
buckets left on the front ende of the rim in
the game last night. You want to guess where Durant is,
I'll give you a hint. He's top twenty really for
thirty seven years old. M hmm, about to approach thirty
one thousand NBA points by the way, mm hmm. Got
to be eighteen eleventh. So they other Rockets with three

(30:20):
top thirty four players. So let me just close out
this this conversation by saying this, if the Rockets were
able to get Giannis, we'd be losing our mind.

Speaker 1 (30:29):
Okay, we would be I don't care what we would
be losing our.

Speaker 2 (30:32):
Mind, but but I can, but I can comfortably live
like It's the same thing I felt like with the
like when the Kevin Durant conversation was going on. You
heard me, I wasn't this has to happen. They must
do this.

Speaker 3 (30:46):
I was waiting.

Speaker 1 (30:47):
There's two sides of this. There's that's okay, we're not
on first take.

Speaker 3 (30:50):
We're not.

Speaker 1 (30:50):
Yeah, we're two guys talking sports.

Speaker 2 (30:52):
Yeah, because I would have been happy with I mean, look,
there is a part of the Rockets team of twenty
twenty five and twenty six, which is right now that
missus Dylon Brooks. There is a moxie that is missing
from this team. But you have to again, trades have
to hurt. I've never seen a trade that involves impactful
players that once I goes man, we shortly fleece them.

(31:13):
Twenty one and one the thunder Our. That's what you
have to think. Can I pray for can I pray
for injuries? I you can do whatever you want. The
question is does that make me a bad person? And
the answers yes, yeah. But I can live with being
a bad person, I know. So that's what I'm saying.
If you're good with that, I'm very comfortable praying for injuries. Now,

(31:34):
I'm not looking for like answer or but she's got
a torn pack muscle. I mean, I can't hurt you
recover from that. It probably does hurt. I'm about a
torn a cl for somebody over there. Honestly, that's what
you're gonna need. I'm just gonna be real. If the
if the if the I can't I can't hate you
that I don't want.

Speaker 3 (31:54):
Like Rick Ashley once told me, never gonna give you up,
never gonna let you do the thunder healthy.

Speaker 1 (31:57):
The Rockets have no chance. I'm gonna star.

Speaker 3 (32:00):
I'm just saying, sorry, what I just told you. They're there,
They're playing in line every other night. No they're not.

Speaker 2 (32:08):
Yeah they are. In my mind they are. Have the
Rockets almost beat them opening nights?

Speaker 3 (32:14):
Yes, if not, yes, yeah, we have three more shots
at them.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
Win day with the rebound called the time, they don't
have any time. Sex Sharber didn't see it, thank god,
Zach one of the fine officials in the NBA.

Speaker 3 (32:30):
When is their next matchup?

Speaker 2 (32:31):
They got? Are they doing? They got fours this year?
Let me look, I know that we're going there for
a one off. It's also national televised game. Oklahoma City
will be here Thursday, January the fifteenth. It's market on
calendars on Prime video. Early started me, thank you, and

(32:52):
I think that's it. They're only coming.

Speaker 3 (32:53):
Once and then they go there.

Speaker 2 (32:56):
Saturday, February seventh, ABC, all three matchups on National THIESE networks.

Speaker 3 (33:01):
Aren't stupid you gotta go there twice? Come on, man,
it's not fair.

Speaker 1 (33:06):
Well, that's how it usually works with division opponents.

Speaker 2 (33:08):
I know at this year's case where you go to
Denver three times and they only come to us twice,
and then we go to la once and then Clippers
come here three times.

Speaker 3 (33:16):
Don't get me started. Yeah, all right, let's get to
Saint NBA Cup. Let's get to the Texans now.

Speaker 2 (33:21):
Adam Silver ten five on Sports Talk seven ninety It
is the Matt Thomas Show with Ross.

Speaker 3 (33:26):
Normally we go anybody out there, but we do believe
you're out there, and for that we thank you.

Speaker 1 (33:30):
Seven one three two one two five seven ninety seven
one three two one two five seven nine zero. Have
you been reading about the fallout of the final days
of Old Miss. We'll talk about that a little bit.
We get some Texans to get too. And I just
don't get it at eleven thirty.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
All right, I just don't get it coming up at
eleven thirty today we have the news at noon, actually's
not the news and news community.

Speaker 3 (33:52):
May I don't get noon. Yeah, how about that? Hey,
he can read us the news.

Speaker 1 (33:58):
I listened to your post game show and it was
so good.

Speaker 2 (34:01):
Yeah, I was a one thank you And he's like,
what did you tell the guys at halftime?

Speaker 1 (34:05):
And I'm paraphrasing. He's like, I don't want to you
guys playing like a junior varsity team.

Speaker 3 (34:10):
That was pretty funny.

Speaker 1 (34:11):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (34:12):
Uh So the Texans are back on the practice. But
my guess is they're in the bubble today. The weather
is cold, rainy, which I guess would be a terrible
thing because what is the Kansas City forecast? I would
assume December in Kansas City is not gonna be delightful.

Speaker 1 (34:26):
Probably a little chili. I can pull it up NFL weather.

Speaker 3 (34:29):
I don't see Kansas City. I already have it.

Speaker 2 (34:33):
Twenty four degrees, most of cloudy, eleven mile an hour winds.

Speaker 3 (34:37):
That's good.

Speaker 1 (34:38):
That's football weather, right, it's getting me in the club seats.

Speaker 3 (34:40):
Weather.

Speaker 2 (34:41):
Oh my god, you you are so soft. Yes, you
know what. I'm sad to say. I thought about you
a brief moment when I was at the Longhorn game
on Friday because it was missing it was cold, it windy,
it was a little cool. It wasn't cold. It's a
little windy. It felt good. Look I'm a little missed.
Like out in the Elements gets some football. I was like,
you know what, Matt Thomas would be hanging because there
was I saw people going into their suites and not

(35:02):
sitting in their seats and it may be sad.

Speaker 1 (35:04):
And I was like, you know what, Matt Thomas would
be one of these people. Yeah, terrible, but at least
I'm consistent. Get out in the Elements. It's all right,
not gonna hurt you. They used to only live in
the elements. I used to be an element. I used
to be element guy, and then I became a sweet guys.
Oh yeah, but don't go. I mean that I think
you got changed when you moved to Minnesota or something.
You're not in Minnesota. It's all right, my very fast story.

(35:26):
They'd be you know, in January, faper would be like
minus thirteen. One day we had a warm up.

Speaker 2 (35:30):
It was thirty one degrees, which is a forty degree
temperature change.

Speaker 1 (35:34):
Yes, and your body.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
I don't know if it's in your mind or acclimates,
but I remember a day it was thirty one degrees.
It felt so good that I actually went outside in
my in the front yard of my house in Saint Paul.
I had my shirt off. I was like, man, this
is amazing. Thirty one degrees. And then the police were
called the children I believe, uh disturbed. Well, there was

(35:58):
a quick conversation, Okay, where's that going. Oh okay, so
ESPN and I'm sure the Athletic and some I know
ESPN because I read some of it. I was I
had a tough time sleeping last night, so I was
just bruising on the ESPN. There's a long investigative report
about the final days of Lane Kiffin at Old miss

(36:18):
mm HM, and you know when Lane had his press conference,
he's talking about, you know, there was some talk of
me coming back for the championship game, and there was
a little bit of talk and we couldn't really decide
until the very last second was gonna happen. Well, the
Ole miss ad comes out and says, wait a minute, Brah,
you're telling false stories. They had the conversation weeks ago.

(36:39):
Because again, if Lane Kiffin was searching for this job,
probably the moment that Brian Kelly got fired at LSU.
He put his agent on the on the sniff on
the prowl. Yes, So I don't know if Lane was
forthcoming to the administration, Ole Miss or somebody to the
grapevine told the old miss ad Ole miss AD's like, bro,

(37:01):
if you take this LSU job and we're in the
college football playoff, you're not coaching. Is This is not
a conversation, This is not a for conjecture. You're not happening.
The only thing they couldn't decide on was if Old
miss was going to play for the SEC championship game,
whether Kiffen would be able to coach that, and obviously
that that's not an issue because it's Alabama and Georgia

(37:22):
playing this week. I will say this, and this is
in real life. This is not just about college coaching.
We tend to recreate stories to fit our own narrative.
Like if somebody says, well, why did you leave that
restaurant as a manager? Oh, is because I wasn't hecked
with the food service, or I wasn't happy with the
the hours I was putting in in a disagreement. Maybe

(37:43):
the boss that you know, because he was skimming off
the top. I mean when somebody leaves and leaves somebody
in the dust. There's always going to be two sides
to every story. And then in most things in life,
Ole Miss eighties like I'm getting out there. You think
you're gonna tell your side of the story, I'm gonna
tell you the real truth. And I believe Lane Kiffin
is a liar. I believe Lane kifferin stretches the truth.

(38:04):
I believe Lane Kiffin is an excellent football coach, but
allows a human being so big based off of past
history and the way he conducts himself, the way he
treats people, and the way he can you know, I
totally believe the old Miss ad by Ole Miss saying, Hey, yeah,
we're hearing your name out there. You're not You're You're
doing a very difficult job of trying to hide this.
If you think you're coaching the college football playoff, you're high.

Speaker 3 (38:25):
In the night.

Speaker 2 (38:26):
Well did you see Also the players there were players
who came after Lane Kiffin. There was an offensive lineman,
Bryson Sanders. Okay, so he responded, quote tweeted Lane Kip.
Remember Lanekiffin put out that little press conference with the
h after a lot of prayer, blah blah blah.

Speaker 1 (38:41):
Bah blah, which is all lies.

Speaker 2 (38:42):
And then he put in there despite the team asking
me to keep coaching, Uh, despite the team asking allow
to keep coaching, that he wasn't.

Speaker 1 (38:53):
Able to blah blah blah anyways.

Speaker 2 (38:56):
Quote tweeted by Bryson Sanders, a sophomore offensive lineman on
All miss despite the team asking me to keep coaching.
I think everyone that was in that room would disagree.

Speaker 3 (39:07):
Crazy.

Speaker 2 (39:08):
Then that was quote tweeted by another offensive lineman. Uh,
let's see Paris Wilkins, who is a senior offensive lineman.
Let him know every single person, as in every single
person would disagree with what Lane Kiffin said.

Speaker 1 (39:25):
Kiffn's putting out the statement.

Speaker 3 (39:26):
You have the team. You know they begged me to
coach him, and I really want to coach him and
I want to be there, but you know they wouldn't
let me. And the players are like, what are you
talking about? That is a complete lie. This guy's line.
This is why I have my gut feeling on Tuesday.

Speaker 2 (39:40):
Sorry, LSU fans and Chris Gordy, is this a gut
feeling like this guy's a scumbag. That's a gut feeling
I'm sorry, but you can know I don't think it's
a gut feeling. I think it's true, but it doesn't
mean you can't be a good football coach. No, correct,
but I think thing bad things are gonna happen. That's
what I said. Unfavorable circumstances. It ends within four years.
He's not going to be long for it. I don't

(40:01):
think I think he's gonna wear them. And we have
not had any at least when I you and I'm
working this week. We have not anybody calling that's an
LSU guy.

Speaker 1 (40:08):
And look, we have Gordon, we love him, uh, but
you know he could have Basically, I don't know who's
the worst person on Uh.

Speaker 3 (40:18):
I don't even bring up a name.

Speaker 2 (40:19):
Jeffrey Dahmer. Jeffrey Dahmer coach LSU and Gordy be like,
you know, he does have some positive attributes to him.
Does Gordy represent LSU fan base or are there some
people that are LSU fans that are feeling dirty about this?

Speaker 3 (40:34):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (40:34):
Lane Kiffin's quote was Keith Carter despite the team asking
him to allow me to keep coaching them so he
could better maintain their high level of performance, and the
players are like, what nobody did that?

Speaker 4 (40:45):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (40:47):
Does every LSU fan think this is a groovy decision?
I think there's some Some people are like, we'll see
if it works and real quick, speaking of that, and
we gotta get to some high school recruiting stuff here
in a second.

Speaker 1 (40:59):
Uh uh, Penn State get away? Oh I sent that article.
I know you sent it. Go nitty Lions, go away,
knitty Lions.

Speaker 3 (41:16):
Hmmm. How good is that job?

Speaker 1 (41:17):
But we talked about that yesterday. Nobody wants not a
great job. No greened.

Speaker 2 (41:22):
If he's gonna you're gonna cash strap somebody to it,
it's a better job than Houston.

Speaker 1 (41:27):
I don't think so. Well, you're wrong.

Speaker 2 (41:30):
I don't care what you think. I know what I know,
not what I think. Number one quarterback in the past.
Let's ask thousands, you know what, Let's ask every college
sports writer on the planet who exists. Right for Kook's
takeover dot net and chassa is den dot org dot
org for profit. That's terrible. No, I hope that was

(41:53):
just throwing a name out just to throw a name out,
which happens all the time. Absolutely well, the article did
say that the interest is only on the Penn.

Speaker 3 (42:00):
State side right now.

Speaker 1 (42:01):
Yeah, because WILLI is like, I'm not going to the
state College PA. It's cold, cold, miserable. You're gonna be
no better, I mean, no better than the third best
team in the Big Ten.

Speaker 2 (42:10):
If you're a coach and you're looking at the level,
I'm sorry again, you got USC.

Speaker 3 (42:15):
You should be fifth. You just were in a semi final.
You were just in a semi final, and then you
lose three games and you're out. Who wants to be
Who wants to have that kind of anxiety and stress
about their job?

Speaker 8 (42:26):
No?

Speaker 2 (42:27):
WILLI is a lifer and then number one quarterback in
the country as many years as he has left is
a life in coaching with Houston as well eleven o'clock
Sports Talk, seven ninety seven to one to three to two.

Speaker 1 (42:38):
I just you know, he's just trying to just twist
that night. That's fine.

Speaker 2 (42:40):
I do the same thing. I don't think Starks going
to Penn State. But if he wanted to go, oh
please let him enjoy that. Talk about it. Go down
a couple of runs on the ladder. But isn't it
funny though? One hundred thousand seat, big time public university,
great history, great fan base, huge fan base. It's the
most it's the most successful school east of ann Arbor,

(43:06):
most ugly and overrated uniforms. Well, then I know they're
just non described. It's like they look like they're in
a Russell Athletic commercial. Yeah good and frankly could use
could could own this into Pennsylvania. But problem is Pensvane.
That's not what it used to be. Damn Marino ain't
walking through the door. He went to Pittsburgh. Seven one
three two one two five seven ninety seven one three

(43:29):
two one two five seven ninety eleven oh five and
the you have You're on Sports Talk seven ninety hour,
number two of the Matt Thomas Show with Ross underway.

(43:50):
Phone lines open at seven one three two one two
five seven ninety Should Willie Fritz take the penn State job?

Speaker 3 (43:55):
Seven?

Speaker 1 (43:56):
We change the topic?

Speaker 2 (43:57):
You want to seven ninety is your phone number?

Speaker 3 (44:01):
God has the SF A coach still there? He should
begin a new job eventually soon. Here I'm telling you
he's signed a lifetime deal. No, he's like, I love
that Golden crowd. I can't leave that. His wife got
an h t O. It's two O likes water. It's
it's for t it's a T spot and she bodied
the spot. H t owns that whole tea like being

(44:23):
on North Street, there's no way to leaving.

Speaker 2 (44:26):
That's a big hopping spot there and really the only street,
it's the only paved street. Electrician on the street.

Speaker 3 (44:34):
That was rude. I'm sorry the electricity on that street.
You know, you know sometimes the power lines come down,
but uh, no shows complete with us in the break Yeah,
please do go ahead, knock it out.

Speaker 2 (44:53):
We're talking about Lane Kiffin and the athletic director saying
that's not what you said, Lane, and then the the
player saying that's not what happened Lane. And there was
a certain someone who burst in here Morty literally waiting
the second for us.

Speaker 3 (45:09):
To hit break correct and saying, ah, this is there
crying over spilled milk. This is a smear campaign because
they're all butt hurt that he left, all right, So
what he told us is the very last thing, and
it's like a Chris Gordy gut feeling. He said, at
least twelve players wow from Old Miss will transfer to LSU.

Speaker 1 (45:26):
Twelve.

Speaker 2 (45:26):
I think he said twelve. He made not exact number,
but I thought he said it. I thought he said twelve.
I mean, look, he'll be right. They don't hate him
that much. If they're coming to LSU. We'll see how
many he brings.

Speaker 1 (45:38):
That seems like a lot.

Speaker 3 (45:39):
I don't. I don't.

Speaker 2 (45:39):
Look, you're telling twelve guys and LWS you to go away. Yes,
that's what I'm saying. Like he I, well, didn't. I
wouldn't it like the entire team hit the portal when
when coach Prime came to Colorado he said, I'm bringing
luggage with me and it's Louis.

Speaker 1 (45:54):
Y'all need to hit the portal. By the way, why
is he still coaching?

Speaker 3 (45:58):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (45:58):
He's got all these health problems to Yeah, and his
recruiting class. I think yesterday was ranked eighty seventh out
of how many? Oh what one and thirty?

Speaker 3 (46:07):
Yeah, I think SFA had a higher recruiting babe, you
know hearing that probably, I'm just teasing.

Speaker 2 (46:16):
Where were the Cougars they had that big quarterback were
thirty somewhere in that range.

Speaker 3 (46:20):
That's good for the Cougs. It's not good for top
tier program, so it's good for the coug So here's
the first thing I thought of. And by the way,
we need to do a recruiting update, and it's brought
to you by the Joint Chiropractic Recruiting Update fortieth on the.

Speaker 2 (46:35):
A four seven whatever I mean, Hey, got A two
four stars and a five star.

Speaker 3 (46:39):
That's good.

Speaker 2 (46:39):
Fifteen from tech This about updates about brought to you
by the Joint Chiropractice Official Chiropractor of the University Houston.
Seventeen high school signings fifteen from Texas to Louisiana. Nine offense,
eight defense. One quarterback Keishawn Henderson went to something called
the Legacy of the School of Sports Sciences.

Speaker 1 (46:57):
Sounds good to me. I wish I could have called
the institution.

Speaker 2 (46:59):
I learned by the way he is going to be
enrolling at U of H in January, so he's coming
there early.

Speaker 1 (47:04):
Oh really?

Speaker 3 (47:05):
Uh?

Speaker 8 (47:06):
You know.

Speaker 2 (47:06):
The very first thing I thought of was, Okay, so
Connor Wigman, I'm going to presume that he made some
decent money to transfer from A and M to Houston.
What's his eligibility looking like? Got one more year left? Okay,
So Wegman's don't help them win nine games. You're not
let number one high school recruiting quarterback in the country
sit the Pine are you unless I mean Arch did it?

(47:30):
But is again, I don't know, Roster construction is significantly different.
I mean, is Quinn yours? That's a question for coach
Fritz quin yours to Arch, the same as the parallel
it would be from Connor Wigman to Key Sean Henderson.

Speaker 3 (47:44):
Gets a little different. And here's another thing, do you want? Okay,
let's let's assume and I'm just gonna throw numbers out. Okay,
let's assume that Connor Wigman got five hundred thousand dollars
to come play at you of age. Okay, I'm going
to presume that Kei Shawn would probably get three times
out amount when you're the number one, right, when you

(48:07):
have a certain number of values. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (48:09):
I'm trying to pull up on three does estimations? Okay, stuff,
So I'm trying to you subscribe to that. I don't know. Well,
how do you how do you sneak away from getting
paying them?

Speaker 3 (48:18):
What do you mean?

Speaker 2 (48:18):
I don't sneak away anything, because every time I try
to go find someone on three that they want to
charge it, I'm saying they do evaluations. I'm going to
go see. Okay, I don't know what. They have a
list of some deals. He has Hellman's Mayo. Well, this
can't be right, Aggie's United. No, that can't be right.

Speaker 3 (48:37):
I don't know. It doesn't say Vegas is if if
you pay it, it is undisclosed.

Speaker 1 (48:41):
That's two million dollars for one position and one guy
can only play it one time. Now, we'll have Willyanne
before the bowl game, and I don't know how my
assumption would be he would not have a firm answer
on this. We're focused on this year, Matt, which is
you know what if I was in his spot to
exactly focus on We're We're focused on beating Louisiana Tech

(49:03):
in this bowl game.

Speaker 2 (49:04):
No new new, new, new, new new. We are playing
a much higher competitor.

Speaker 3 (49:08):
Oh okay.

Speaker 2 (49:11):
The point being is that you some schools can withstand
paying two million dollars for one position if only one plays.

Speaker 1 (49:17):
I don't know if the university used to can do that.

Speaker 9 (49:19):
M M.

Speaker 3 (49:19):
So we'll have to see.

Speaker 2 (49:21):
Oh, pop Tarts Bowl, that's versus Miami or Georgia Tech.
There are three balls that I'm seeing pop Tarts, Texas, Alamo. Hmm,
I'm voting for Alamo. Yeah, I'm always make an Alamo
Bowl jokes. I'm gonna sit in your seat. You gonna
make the Alamo Bowl jokes.

Speaker 3 (49:41):
Let's go.

Speaker 1 (49:41):
There is a seat at the thirty yard line.

Speaker 3 (49:43):
It's good for the goose, it's good for the jackass.

Speaker 2 (49:46):
In the third deck of the Alamo Dome, all the
seats are blue there except there's one orange one.

Speaker 1 (49:51):
I don't get in the third deck. That's roster cheat.

Speaker 3 (49:53):
Now those seats are cheap. You can get nice seats
at Alamo Dome that you could.

Speaker 8 (49:57):
I think.

Speaker 1 (49:57):
I think I'm gonna go if it happens.

Speaker 2 (49:58):
If they play, you should because it's on the thirtieth
and I could go to we're playing the uh, the
Knicks or Brooklyn on Yeah. San Antonio was nice. Yeah,
you know, if you don't have the budget to go
somewhere nicer, I mean, I'm o for one and in
that Sam also go five hundred mm.

Speaker 4 (50:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (50:16):
Last time I was there didn't turn out well, So
I gotta go back and get that game back.

Speaker 3 (50:19):
You've been there more recently than I have.

Speaker 2 (50:21):
Maybe it's the it's the house that Thomas built. I
went to the Bill Saints game there way back in
the day. You did, Yeah, I was a crowd.

Speaker 3 (50:28):
It was good.

Speaker 2 (50:28):
A lot of Saints fans, remember, they wanted it. They
were like, we're proving we need to have a team
that didn't work out. Jerry Jones said, shut your bum
mass up.

Speaker 1 (50:36):
Yes, he's like, you know, Santoan's my territory.

Speaker 3 (50:38):
Yes. Canna's like, I'll take whatever you got left San Antonia.
You ain't gonna get it.

Speaker 2 (50:43):
You could build a you could have built a fan
base in San Antonio if you would win.

Speaker 3 (50:47):
They just don't win. Texas just don't win.

Speaker 2 (50:50):
No, you know. And and they're not building anymore. They're
building an arena for the Spurs, burning one downtown.

Speaker 3 (50:55):
That's the vote pass. The boat did pass, like fifty
forty eight of things.

Speaker 2 (50:59):
What it was, They're going strain all the algae from
the river walk and sell that off or something.

Speaker 3 (51:07):
It is pretty dirty. It is dirty. I was a
cad I loved it too.

Speaker 1 (51:10):
Is it a grown ass adult?

Speaker 8 (51:12):
You know what?

Speaker 3 (51:12):
That was rude.

Speaker 2 (51:13):
I'm not sorry, but that was rude. Well at least
you thought you were sorry. I'm a little sorry a
little bit. Remember, Ross of the two of us is
way meaner. He portrays himself as a sweet see I
just say uncomfortable truths and it gets taken as meanness.
I just say mean things and typically mean them. You're
you're more vicious.

Speaker 3 (51:34):
I just I do. Oh hey, no, I'm just wow.
I'm just speaking truths. Okay, if if if flavorless cheese
sticks hit my mouth, I'm just speaking the truth.

Speaker 1 (51:44):
I'm not being mean. I'm just telling the truth.

Speaker 3 (51:47):
A lot of things hit your mouth. You're happy with
the truth, selsh a lot of that. I'm happy, very
happy with the truth. Self shall set you free. Matthew,
me too. I'm I'm truthful too. People don't like it
when I'm truthful. I just think.

Speaker 8 (52:02):
I think.

Speaker 2 (52:03):
What I'm gonna do is I think for twenty twenty six.
I'm gonna temper my brutal honesty in soft play, okay,
seven one three two one two five seven ninety.

Speaker 3 (52:18):
I just don't get it coming up in ten minutes.
Mine's about Facebook. I might want to say Lane Kiffin,
but I don't want to get a lectured again. I'm
getting lectured a lot lately by Gordy or by other
lsup by probably anybody like we have like we call
we have people we work with you, we call him
the LSU mafia, because it's like eighty percent of our

(52:39):
audience or our office's.

Speaker 1 (52:41):
Lupe helps to know people. Folks always network.

Speaker 8 (52:45):
I don't.

Speaker 2 (52:46):
They're not running around bragging about this. I think they are.
I mean, he was the crown jewel of the coach.

Speaker 8 (52:51):
He was.

Speaker 2 (52:52):
He was a number one pinaching carousel, number one pick piers.
And like I said, I can separate good coaches from
good people, and I don't.

Speaker 3 (53:00):
Lane Kiffn's a good person, but he's a good football coach.

Speaker 2 (53:03):
If you had the one guy that every school, whether
they would ever want him in it or not, would
have loved to have had.

Speaker 3 (53:08):
It's Blane Kiffin. Good for them.

Speaker 1 (53:10):
They got the guy and they bankrupt their state, which
again I'm not worre about their finances. Who's going on
with that?

Speaker 3 (53:20):
By the way, didn't the governor say like he came
out and said, we're not signing some big contract. Yeah,
that's why when he said that, I was like, I
want to go there.

Speaker 2 (53:29):
I was going off of his vibe. John Sumroll, come
on down. Meanwhile he goes to Florida. They're all pissed
off in Florida for going after that? Is LSU the
only fan base that's really happy about their hire. Arkansas
is happy the staging protests. State doesn't have a coach.

Speaker 1 (53:46):
Coach. I think people in Missouri are not happy that
ELI drinkers they got.

Speaker 2 (53:53):
Fans can't be happy they got Pat Fitzgerald, the old Northwestern.

Speaker 3 (53:57):
Coach es Michigan State. I mean, yeah, they used to
have some cachet a little bit. They used to occasion. Yeah,
that's actually not bad. But an analogy from you, I'm impressed,
Thank You're welcome. Yeah hmm.

Speaker 2 (54:17):
These these mega conferences are really putting a lot of
things in perspective that you've got to spend money, you
have to go get recognizable names, you would think.

Speaker 3 (54:31):
And also, I don't know, do these mega conferences because
of the conference relation you should really dumb down the
schedule a little bit because there's a chance ROSSI, we
could have not two none P four conference champions not
in the NCAA tournament or then that's ridiculous.

Speaker 1 (54:52):
But the ACC sucks. Be better ACC, that's my point.

Speaker 3 (54:56):
Would we should do non automatic bits top twelve are
in no matter what conference you're in, it.

Speaker 1 (55:01):
Is what it is. Top twelve. That's the way it
should be.

Speaker 3 (55:04):
The conference.

Speaker 2 (55:04):
You're never gonna agree to that because they're gonna want
their auto bids to be a part of it. Well
that's why this, this, this very well could be the
second to last year of twelve teams. I think we're
gonna get something so whacking screwed up here. God, can
we not do twenty. We're gonna get sixteen. I think
twenty is eventually, I would bet you. I bet you
they're gonna tell me then we're gonna have the conference.

(55:25):
They're gonna have this the CFPB as long as the
season basically, well you.

Speaker 1 (55:30):
Know why more money isn't the FCS twenty?

Speaker 3 (55:34):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (55:35):
Do they play eleven or twelve games FCS regular season?

Speaker 3 (55:39):
I do not have the answer to that question. I
think SFA was ten and two, all right, at least twelve.

Speaker 2 (55:45):
Of course, I also played a technical school off of
fifty nine and Will Clayton huh.

Speaker 1 (55:49):
Yeah, that's not They played for the old Oaken Spatoon.

Speaker 8 (55:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (55:54):
What does the SFA's got arrival?

Speaker 3 (55:56):
Well, they play Sam Houston was the they play for
the Battle honey Woody longer it was the last one
stopped it.

Speaker 1 (56:04):
Because Houston graduated.

Speaker 3 (56:05):
Sam Houston Big Brodom Okay, you got by Sam Houston.

Speaker 1 (56:11):
Use Texas State. Who is the rival now for whom
they don't have one?

Speaker 3 (56:16):
Yeah, technically it's still the same Houston, but we don't
have like official rival anyone.

Speaker 2 (56:20):
So we used to give those tickets away, literally give
them away like it was.

Speaker 3 (56:24):
It was tied until it should.

Speaker 2 (56:26):
Have called it the Battle of Roby Enrollment. We had
like a roll of toilet paper. We're just handing them out.

Speaker 3 (56:32):
They used to put that game in at Energy, Yeah,
the last one with the Energy.

Speaker 1 (56:37):
Yeah, so rivalry. It was a good rivalry.

Speaker 3 (56:40):
It went on from eighteen something in Sam Houston.

Speaker 1 (56:42):
You're lovely people, but you playing your games at Shell
Energy Stadium was a complete disaster.

Speaker 2 (56:46):
You got embarrassed what happened. They read they're refurbishing Bowers
Stadium in Huntsville. So they had to make a decision
about where to play for a season, and the athletic director,
i think, said, we can't plan. They Tomball's high school
sitting would be available. I don't think Huntsville' high school
team was available. But the nicest stadium in that neck

(57:07):
of the wood you could have Woodland Stadium, you could
have had where Tom Ball plays and had drawn you know,
seats twelve or thirteen thousand. It's plenty for Sam Houston
and been a lot closer they were. They played their
home games downtown Houston.

Speaker 1 (57:18):
What did it draw? That seems like a bad idea.
I can't get the student section.

Speaker 2 (57:22):
Well, I think they would have announce three to four
thousand every time if there were games where there were
less than five hundred people in the building including workers.

Speaker 3 (57:31):
Yeah, it's just.

Speaker 2 (57:33):
I felt bad for Sam Houston fans because every week,
you know that Brick Center highlight, that Brick Center Twitter
account would basically show this video of Shell Energy sitting
for an sfus A Sam Houston game, and NOMA would
be it's Brick Center. That's a a what it's a
Twitter account that makes fun of sports things accounts. I
haven't seen them. I'm most of those because sometimes I

(57:55):
post fake news. Yeah, well, as long as you know what,
I don't follow. But it shows up with a four
youtub All right, Oh, we got Emai Doka coming up
in thirty five minutes.

Speaker 1 (58:03):
Excitedly get that?

Speaker 3 (58:04):
Yeah, I'm extremely excited.

Speaker 2 (58:06):
Yeah, and we have uh, we have Ross's NFL Rotten
five at twelve fifty today.

Speaker 3 (58:10):
Oh yeah, and believe it.

Speaker 1 (58:13):
Yeah, you had some work ahead of you.

Speaker 2 (58:15):
If I'm gonna if I'm gonna keep it a buck,
you can probably guess who the worst team in the
NFL is?

Speaker 3 (58:18):
Is it Ryan with the Banks? Oh? Bets?

Speaker 2 (58:24):
Hmmm, you can guess just g oh, it's it's Amy
Crunk's drunk. Okay, Well, well you don't know.

Speaker 3 (58:32):
We'll find that.

Speaker 1 (58:32):
What was that score against the Jaguars this last week?

Speaker 3 (58:36):
Cash? I mean, they're not.

Speaker 2 (58:38):
Even showing a way. Are we rooting for the Jaguars
or the Colts this Sunday? Or do we not care?
I guess you don't care because they control your destiny
against the Colts. So you root for the Colts and
then and beat them yourself. It doesn't matter, It doesn't
matter who you root for. How about this? It was
like this for a quasi spicy take. It wouldn't surprise me.

(59:00):
Three teams in the ANC South make the playoffs?

Speaker 3 (59:02):
They could. We thought it.

Speaker 1 (59:04):
We thought it was a joke of a division.

Speaker 2 (59:06):
Movie did That's why we should always sometimes listen to
our old shows back in August, which you're right, though
the Jaguars are a paper tiger.

Speaker 3 (59:12):
I have our predictions. I can find them, save them
for the end of the year.

Speaker 2 (59:15):
Okay, seven one three two one two five seven.

Speaker 1 (59:18):
Unty.

Speaker 2 (59:19):
Now, the next half hour of the show is something
we do every Thursday, and it's called I just don't
get it and uh we it's actually I think we
consider this a public service to our audience.

Speaker 1 (59:29):
We have three different generations of people in this studio.

Speaker 3 (59:32):
Here.

Speaker 2 (59:32):
They give you perspectives on things that happen in your life,
whether it be sports related, whether it be your life related.
And which you will do is you call in and
you will tell us what's going on in your life
or something that happened at work. And you'll say, hey,
Matt Ross and Jonathan, I just don't get it, and
we will try to help you navigate these murky waters
that you which.

Speaker 3 (59:50):
You live in.

Speaker 2 (59:51):
Yes, and we'll give you our own examples. Mine is
about Facebook this week.

Speaker 8 (59:55):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (59:56):
Jonathan always has one, usually involving traffic or the burritos
on the amount of eggs and get and his breakfast tacos.
I'm something similar to that, Yeah, and Ross, you don't
usually typically get people in your commute from your five
minutes from the apartment to your house to the office here, right,
I don't normally what you don't use, that's what you
don't get is white people will continue to be terrible
drivers there that actually had you, you'd be actually surprised

(01:00:19):
on it. I have literally like a five minute commute,
and I I do. I can road rage in those
five minutes. It's crazy because we have a rite on red,
we have a cust we have a merged situation, we
have another light with an underp Like every every day
somebody's driving stupid.

Speaker 1 (01:00:33):
It's crazy.

Speaker 2 (01:00:34):
I have a fifty eight minute commute and I road
rage every day. Don't road rage, Matty. I swear with people,
I call people names I hate. Listen to sports radio
Clean and Serene, Mattie, I'm a little worried about you.

Speaker 1 (01:00:46):
You should be.

Speaker 2 (01:00:48):
Got a nice text, by the way from our friend
of the show yesterday, John McLean. He got a Twitter
account back and can I send him to a proper contact?
And he's taked to me four and I thought it
was did you make a Google Authenticator account? I don't
think I can do that now?

Speaker 3 (01:01:01):
Why not?

Speaker 1 (01:01:01):
It doesn't give me the option? Will you do it
for me? They'll do it for them.

Speaker 3 (01:01:06):
We don't need this. We don't need no crypto. No,
it's kind of.

Speaker 2 (01:01:08):
Funny when he gets hacked. Though it's not funny, it's
very irritating. I mean, for me once, shame on me.
Will me three times?

Speaker 1 (01:01:15):
You for me fifty five times? I'm getting hacked, shame
on you.

Speaker 8 (01:01:18):
Man.

Speaker 10 (01:01:24):
Do you have something in your life that's just don't
get No need to worry, no need to We will
just do for something to see if we comprehend the
things that they.

Speaker 1 (01:01:36):
Can use our friends. It's time to say I just
don't get it. What don't you get We're here for you?

Speaker 2 (01:01:50):
Seven one three two one two five seven ninety all right,
So look, I am an adult, and I know that
everybody has their favorite, uh social media platforms, whether it's TikTok,
whether it's Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, whatever dat's on Twitter. But

(01:02:11):
you know, when you're bored, or you're like if you're
waiting to get your car oil change, or you can't
sleep in the middle of the night, you're gonna prove
your Facebook.

Speaker 1 (01:02:19):
You're watching a mindless television. You want to see what's
going on.

Speaker 2 (01:02:22):
I run into stories all the time, and it's not
because I follow these sites. It just happened beyond my
page about these variety of news stories that aren't real,
Like I'll see a woman gets on top of the
counter to bed bath and beyond and yells at the
people for stop using old coupons and gets arrested for it.

Speaker 1 (01:02:42):
That never happened.

Speaker 2 (01:02:44):
So what I wind up doing is I'm looking at
these incredible stories of these crazy x that are of.

Speaker 1 (01:02:51):
Negligence and crime, and I'm like, how does this happen?
Why are people wigging out?

Speaker 2 (01:02:56):
Like woman waitress and waffle house throws seventy three waffles
up in the air and discuss because of a bad tip.
And then I go to Google to see if these
stories happen or where they happen, and they're fake.

Speaker 3 (01:03:07):
Facebook, what are you doing? Why are you creating these
fake stories? I'm not following those people. I'm not interested.
Y'all is doing this pisses me off.

Speaker 2 (01:03:18):
I don't know if I don't know how monetizing Facebook works,
if they get money for engagement or what. But if
you see something, say something, Matt, I report those I'm
saying it right now. I just don't get why I'm
seeing fake stories on my Facebook account. I don't know either,
but I'm saying, like, you report the accounts, I should
always report the accounts.

Speaker 1 (01:03:38):
I would see them. I need to mean more proactive
about that.

Speaker 2 (01:03:41):
And I think, yeah, I think it's easy to just
kind of be like, oh, that's weird, that's made up,
and then just move along. But because here's a report
those I want pictures of your kids. I want pictures
of you and your husbands or girlfriends or best friends,
your bros going on great trips like frost your ig
that day. Lots of pictures of you at in Austin,

(01:04:01):
at the game that was that stuff I live for.

Speaker 3 (01:04:04):
I don't want politics, I don't want religion.

Speaker 1 (01:04:07):
I just want nice, easy, breezy lack of viciousness on
a social platform known as Facebook. I'm not asking for much.
I'll even tolerate a recipe or what you cook for dinner,
not throw with those kind of things. But I don't
want fake news stories. Okay, I didn't ask for them,
I didn't punch on them. I don't inquire about them.

(01:04:28):
I just don't get it.

Speaker 3 (01:04:31):
You want my chili.

Speaker 1 (01:04:31):
Recipe, No, I really do.

Speaker 3 (01:04:36):
Okay, why would you know? Let me ask you?

Speaker 2 (01:04:39):
This isn't that a secret family recipe. No, you want
the people to know you're you're not giving away a
whole recipes. Don't do it. No, keep that to yourself.
You've got very something. It's a recipe. I finally tuned myself,
so then Dad, Yeah, I borrowed some from you know,
I did a little borrowing.

Speaker 1 (01:04:55):
I remixed it. You gravy trained off somebody.

Speaker 3 (01:04:57):
That's not true.

Speaker 1 (01:04:58):
Bitstole, which I'm used to that man.

Speaker 3 (01:05:01):
Never mind, Like, for instance, I don't want to know
the recipe to KFC use original recipe.

Speaker 2 (01:05:07):
They're thirteen original spices and herbs. You can find that
on the internet. I got one for you. I love
going to Loopy Tortilla from my Fajetas. They have a
marinate on their steak. That's amazing. I have not got
soy sauce in it. I've got no interest in learning it.
I want to go there and eat it. So don't
put it out there. That's good if you if you
know the recipe for it, keep it to yourself. Maybe
I'll maybe I'll make a chili truck.

Speaker 1 (01:05:29):
Would you call it? I don't know yet, ROSSI vese hmm.
Now what the cool restaurants are called?

Speaker 2 (01:05:34):
Like the you take your first name and you add
a letter to it, and you just put the last
initial of your chili.

Speaker 1 (01:05:40):
It's easy. That's what it's called. That's a terrible name
for a food.

Speaker 3 (01:05:43):
Why not?

Speaker 1 (01:05:44):
Why is it terrible? Chilik and carne, that's all you
would say.

Speaker 2 (01:05:47):
That's what it's called. That's what the dish is called.
But there could be one hundred trucks. What makes your
chili ca and carne better than somebody else's.

Speaker 1 (01:05:54):
It's very simple, Matt. Just keep it simple.

Speaker 3 (01:05:56):
Just try it.

Speaker 2 (01:05:57):
What makes Burger King? Oh, we're the king of burgers
chili ca? Well, how's that working for them? Mcgred's like
home my beer like Burger King's making profits? Hold my
filal fish. Yeah, they got the new SpongeBob meal too.
McRib is still available.

Speaker 3 (01:06:10):
I have not seen I had one in a week
or so. I hope not.

Speaker 2 (01:06:13):
I think they clear enough gunk out of the machines
to press press all the sheets and they're good for
a few months. Terrible all right? Uh, Jonathan, what don't
you know it? I don't get people eating the McRib,
Shut up.

Speaker 11 (01:06:24):
I ran.

Speaker 2 (01:06:24):
I actually ran into a listener at a restaurant yesterday
where eat.

Speaker 3 (01:06:28):
Uh, can you say it? I'm not gonna know.

Speaker 2 (01:06:30):
There no free plugs, thank you very much. I wasn't
eating with him, I ran, I was eating for myself.

Speaker 3 (01:06:37):
And yeah, and you've.

Speaker 2 (01:06:40):
Met this person before. I actually came to tow you're
brewing before. Oh nice, And he said, I gotta be honest.
I got to side with Matt. I love the McRib.
I don't get you people. What's the gentleman's name?

Speaker 7 (01:06:51):
You know?

Speaker 3 (01:06:52):
Frank, Frank, you're simp with the best all of you.

Speaker 2 (01:06:57):
Let me tell you something. If I was to give
away my money, your palette is jacked on in.

Speaker 3 (01:07:02):
My funeral, If like I've had some extra side money,
I'd give it to those of you.

Speaker 2 (01:07:06):
That like the McRib over those that don't. You have
further confirmation today your palette's jacked. I don't like cherry.
What's wrong with cherry? I just don't. I like Apple,
like Apple Pie, Apple, Danish Apple, Cowboy.

Speaker 1 (01:07:21):
I'm not a Cherry fan.

Speaker 3 (01:07:22):
Can I say what happened?

Speaker 7 (01:07:23):
Sure?

Speaker 3 (01:07:24):
Go ahead. You said it was pistachio, like, oh, this
is pistachio.

Speaker 1 (01:07:28):
I don't like it.

Speaker 3 (01:07:29):
First of all, it's red mad.

Speaker 1 (01:07:31):
It tastes like pistachio. Second of all, is like, this
is not pistachio.

Speaker 3 (01:07:35):
Okay, see you got you just got your your wires
across and your taste.

Speaker 2 (01:07:38):
But do you ever watch Hell's Kitchen. They get their
they get their palates wrong all the time.

Speaker 3 (01:07:42):
I'm sure they do. So you know what, us geniuses
cows and gesus, we'll get it wrong. Genius is okay,
Chef Monsieux Matthieu, all right, Uh so you don't get
McRib lovers joy.

Speaker 1 (01:07:55):
What don't you get?

Speaker 12 (01:07:56):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (01:07:57):

wouldn't you want to take some caffeine or something. I
don't know. I just I think that's what I was
gonna say. I get it until you said it was

(01:08:59):
your girlfriend. Because I know people who are like parents,
and they they're like they're running around all day and
the movies like their time, and they end up falling asleep.
I'm not saying they should, but like, especially if they're
going like a movie with their kids, they're like, yeah,
this put this kid's movie on.

Speaker 2 (01:09:13):
I'm about to take a nap. But yeah, if you're
at a movie that she wants to see, what time
was the showing start?

Speaker 3 (01:09:19):

I will go this it's delicious, but it's.

Speaker 3 (01:13:21):
Not my preferred Try not to order it. It's not
my preferred meat.

Speaker 2 (01:13:24):
And a barbecue place, my perfect, my perfect barbecue plate, ribs, jlowpeno, sausage, beans,
ku slalaw, potato, salad, pickles, and onions, maybe a halopeno
and bread.

Speaker 1 (01:13:35):
Period.

Speaker 3 (01:13:36):
Can't have brisket off the plate in Texas.

Speaker 1 (01:13:38):
You just can't. Hmmm.

Speaker 2 (01:13:41):
And I swear to God, if you've never had try
tip before I have, it's talking to you. You try
some try tip. For those of you that it's again
it's a Western thing more than it is in the Texas,
you'd be like, damn this try tip's good. It's actually
juicier and leaner. Juicier and leaner. That makes no sense.

Speaker 3 (01:14:01):
Yeah, it doesn't need it doesn't need artificial fat. It's
it's just got the juices fat get the juices come
right out of the meat.

Speaker 14 (01:14:08):
Is that what you like?

Speaker 3 (01:14:10):
I I try tip and brisket when not overly cooked
is delicious. So you like when the juices are coming
out of the tip?

Speaker 2 (01:14:22):
Ross you me and Connor Day McGovern although probably not
gonna be until the first of the year because.

Speaker 1 (01:14:26):

Speaker 2 (01:14:28):
I got a lot of time coming off, folks, So

Let me refreshed.

Speaker 1 (01:14:36):
Come January. I hope me get a long flu during
the time.

Speaker 3 (01:14:40):
You're so rude. I'm being honest, you're so rude.

Speaker 1 (01:14:46):
And again, the best part about the McRib infatuation for
me is that there are so many closet McRib fans
out there that y'all finally come out there and show yourselves.
And I'm proud of you.

Speaker 3 (01:14:55):
You know what, somebody's got to take the bullet for
those people that are make rib haters and I'm taking it.

Speaker 1 (01:14:59):
That's fine because I'm a man of the people.

Speaker 3 (01:15:00):
That's okay.

Speaker 2 (01:15:01):
You're on the forty side. I've done a lot of
Twitter poles. It all comes out sixty forty. You're with
the forty And I'm telling you the key now is
extra barbecue sauce. You can so you can take the
barbecue sauce and uses a dip for your fries. Oh
and also so you can taste that nasty pork sheet
less with bumps on it, extra onions, pickles, bumps on it.

Speaker 3 (01:15:24):
Why do they add the bumps for beauty? So there's
no ribs there, there's not a rib moon. They put
bumps on it, so you know, like they press it
with a bump. It's so weird.

Speaker 1 (01:15:36):
People are tired of you talking about it. I'm not
going to bring up bring it up that guy.

Speaker 3 (01:15:39):
It's a matter of sandwich. Yeah whatever, Alex on seven Ony, Alex,
what don't you get?

Speaker 8 (01:15:46):
You know what I don't get.

Speaker 15 (01:15:47):
I don't get Taylor's shirt and now I don't get
land Man. I watched the first episode and everything was
cool right up until his daughter starts walking around with
her poom poom hanging out and she's supposed to be
seventeen years old and high high school and they're talking
about where her boyfriend's gonna lay uh, plant seed if
you will, everywhere except but you know what's wrong with you?

Speaker 1 (01:16:10):
Why would you write that in?

Speaker 8 (01:16:12):
That was a choice?

Speaker 12 (01:16:13):
Bro?

Speaker 14 (01:16:14):
Like you you you made a choice there to include that,
and there's something that didn't need it that.

Speaker 3 (01:16:20):
Was That's so creepy, dude.

Speaker 1 (01:16:21):
I'm out, thank you.

Speaker 2 (01:16:23):
My wife and my mother are obsessed with land Man. Okay,
they have they binge watched the two as many episodes
they possibly could. I have not looked at it yet
because I don't mean I've been so busy.

Speaker 3 (01:16:35):
With games and whatnot, so I don't got time for that.
I don't have time.

Speaker 1 (01:16:38):
Uh have you looked? Have you seen Lambanet? Any interest
in it?

Speaker 4 (01:16:41):
No?

Speaker 1 (01:16:42):
It's got an eight point two on IMDb? Now good.

Speaker 2 (01:16:44):
Demi Moore is one of my all timers. I mean
all time, all time. I'm Demi Moore.

Speaker 3 (01:16:52):
Let me tell you what.

Speaker 2 (01:16:53):
Whatever she is now and ain't far from prime. Mmm,
she gotta be sixty, but she's still just humans, is
what she is. With that being said, I don't have
time to watch the show. She's all right, all right,
what are you talking about?

Speaker 7 (01:17:09):
What do you hide?

Speaker 3 (01:17:09):
Go back and watch strip tease. Oh yeah, your girlfriend
can't be there. Let me tell you something kicked out.
You'd have movement during Ghosts, trust me? Oh ghost ghost
And I don't like short hair I did during that movie.

Speaker 1 (01:17:24):
Yeah, a saint almost That was the same almost fire
she was into and all those all those eighties movies.

Speaker 3 (01:17:31):
I like that one. What was that summer movie something
Summer when one Crazy Summer or something?

Speaker 2 (01:17:36):
Is she one of those Robert Redford movies about paying
a million dollars have sex with her or something like that? Yeah,
One Crazy Summer? Oh with John Cusac, Bobcat, goldweighte Demi Moore.
That's a that's a classic, right there, Jimmy Moore, Oh
strip tease to my god, Oh changed your life when
you're thirteen years old.

Speaker 1 (01:17:57):
I've been changed for forty years. What was the movie
that she was in with a indecent proposal?

Speaker 3 (01:18:01):
Right? Yeah, I didn't catch that one.

Speaker 1 (01:18:03):
Yeah that was that.

Speaker 3 (01:18:04):
That was where Robert Redford said, uh was it, Dewoodie Harrilson,
I'll give your wife, I'll give you a million dollars
and let me sleep with your wife. Land Man seventy
seven percent fresh by critics, fifty two percent fresh popcorn meter,
which is fans.

Speaker 1 (01:18:19):
Man Kim can I mean like I don't see Kim
for hours.

Speaker 3 (01:18:22):
She's fifty all right.

Speaker 1 (01:18:25):
Lastly, before we get to Emay James, what don't you get?

Speaker 8 (01:18:30):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:18:31):
First of all, I don't just come out bad. I mean,
Willie Fritz has been a blessing since he's been on
the covers. But how does a guy that went to
a school that nobody knows is the number one quarterback
recruit in the nation. I mean the school Legacy Medicine
or whatever.

Speaker 1 (01:18:48):
Where's that school at?

Speaker 2 (01:18:50):
I don't care where it is. I know where he's
gonna be going tho though next year, starting in January.
I know that the reality is this The reason why
James is that there were a lot of people that
wanted Henderson to be a non quarterback and Willie Fritz
identifying him early and said, if you come play at
the University of Houston, you will be a quarterback for us.

Speaker 3 (01:19:09):
And I think that was where as a name is
Keishawan and Henderson, is that what it is?

Speaker 6 (01:19:13):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (01:19:13):
And that really appealed to him because a lot of
schools were trying to make him a receiver or a cornerback.
Sometimes guys just have it in their mind they want
to be quarterbacks, and that is a very appealing to
schools when you're just trying to decide.

Speaker 3 (01:19:25):
Whore you want to go.

Speaker 2 (01:19:26):
Like Mac Brown wanted to turn Johnny Manziel into a safety.
I wanted Robert Griffin the third to play defense too.
I think, good job Mac didn't answer phone calls from
Jameis Winston.

Speaker 1 (01:19:37):
Good job, Mack. Sorry I'm bringing up past. This is
this like post bitterness.

Speaker 3 (01:19:42):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (01:19:43):
I didn't mean to bring up past traumas. I gotta
let it go.

Speaker 2 (01:19:47):
You you need one coach in Texas to coach a
big game. Let's say you're playing for a conference championship.
You want They're okay, oh man, sure dk R? Why
not you want DKR? I guess I don't know what
his coaching style really was. I mean they used to
run the ball a lot, they run the triple option
and whatnot, wish bone, wing tea, whatever it was. Okay,

(01:20:08):
there it is. I'll go with Fred Acres. I'm going
Dave McWilliams to the win. I'm going Charlie Strong. He's
gonna get the boy, He's gonna get the guys fired up. Now,
does he have good coordinators? I'm going John Meckavic. If
he's got good coordinators, I don't mind Charlie Strong. Have
we basically announced every Texas quarterback to the coach? Last
fifty years?

Speaker 3 (01:20:25):
Nick Brown would just get recruit dudes and be all folksy,
and then he'd have good coordinators and then good players
and win.

Speaker 2 (01:20:30):
It wasn't some genius coach joining us online two Coach Brown, coach,
how the hell are you?

Speaker 1 (01:20:36):
I heard what you said about me there, Ross was
not very fair because I was winning you national championships
and you didn't respect me in my program.

Speaker 3 (01:20:42):
He's right, he knows, all right.

Speaker 2 (01:20:43):
Right, Let's talk to emy Doka next at eleven fifty
eight on Sports Talk seven ninety's The.

Speaker 1 (01:20:51):
Matt Thomas Show with Ross.

Speaker 3 (01:20:57):
Twelve oh one on Sports Talk seven, Honey, let's spend
ten minutes with the head basketball coach of your rockets
who disposed of the Sacramento Kings last night, Emadoka with
us here on seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (01:21:08):
Coach, it's Matt and Ross.

Speaker 2 (01:21:10):
I got to ask you, did you really call the
team at junior varsity squad at halftime last night?

Speaker 4 (01:21:16):
I said, stop playing like one, looking like one, take
the ball to play with them forth and something like that.

Speaker 2 (01:21:26):
You're just the best teamail. I'm gonna tell that right now,
and I'm not trying to blow smoke. I'm just saying
you go in there, and they obviously listened to you.
That is what did you get the bluntness of your life,
And I certainly appreciate because I'm a very blunt person myself.

Speaker 4 (01:21:40):
I just always liked, honestly myself, you know, don't want
the coach or anybody you know, kind of blowing smoke
and so, and you're direct with them and don't sugarcoat it.
They can tell if you're be a thing or lying anyway,
so might as well get them direct. And I think
guys respect that approach.

Speaker 3 (01:21:55):
You certainly did that.

Speaker 2 (01:21:56):
Not only did they cut the turnovers down, you put
it together in ansing third quarter and the three point
shot was not a huge part of the team in
the second half. Were you surprised by that or is
that kind of what Sacramento dictated because they gave you
so many opportunities in the paint.

Speaker 4 (01:22:11):
No, we just take what the gang gives us. I think,
you know, we'll shoot them if they're available. But a
lot of times they were bringing their big up in
the pick and roll to take away some of our
walking threes. When we hit out bringing guys in the pocket,
they stayed locked up on some of our shooters, which
allowed us to get downhill and get to the paint.
And obviously, if we're gonna get all those paint points
seventy eight and you don't need to take a ton

(01:22:33):
of threes as we won't.

Speaker 2 (01:22:35):
The I'll bey to a men Thompson combination was working,
vice versa was working as well. Have you noticed even
a better chemistry with those guys since they first step
to get on the same floor, because it feels like
they have a real good sense of knowing where each
other's at.

Speaker 4 (01:22:50):
Yeah, definitely, I think the time spent together over the
last years is really paid off. You know, a mend
was a guy that handled a bunch, but now we
have them in the dunker spot, we have him in
the corner slashing and you know, playing in the pick
and roll at times, so Alpie is always looking for him.
A lot of teams pack the paint not just with
the big but bring the local man across. And our
men as great at slashing behind, defining his rhythm and

(01:23:12):
obviously he's a lot threat there so for being the
great pass it is constantly looking for him.

Speaker 2 (01:23:18):
Reed Shepherd didn't get to start yesterday, but he did
play twenty eight minutes, So what factors into your decisions
about the rotation starting guys, And I mean he's still
getting his minutes even though he wasn't starting in a
line in the starting lineup.

Speaker 4 (01:23:31):
Yeah, A lot do to personnel with the other team.
We like balance as well for our team, so you know,
I have some really good scores that we wanted Josh
and them in the guard Levine and and de Rosen,
and for the most part, he did a great job
on them in general, you know, twelve points and only
two for Levigne, and so went with the more defensive
mind of rotation, but also balance as well. You know,

(01:23:54):
we have a lot of our really good scores in
the starting lineup and reads punch off the bench that
has been good for us most of the season.

Speaker 2 (01:24:00):
Rocket Tech coach imy Doka with us here on at
Sports Talk seven ninety. I have a more philosophical question
for you because I noticed last night Russell Wilson, Russell Westbrook,
I should say, made the first couple of threes. Percentages
are up this year for him, but you guys were
still backing off of him. What goes into that decision
making as far as gaining enough sample size to maybe

(01:24:24):
change your stripes when it comes to any player, as
far as getting a hot hand or coming into the
game if percentages are up relative to their career, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:24:34):
I mean it's game plan wise and what teams like
to do. They're a team that likes to get the
paint and he's really good at that obviously, so you
want to keep him away from the basket as much
as possible. And you know, it's funny at times you
encourage guys to shoot and hope they make their first
one or two, and they'll keep shooting a lot of
times and the percentage usually catch up. And so, like
I said, we did a really good job on Murray,

(01:24:56):
you know, two for eleven for five points. DeRos and
only to and Levine too, will live with some of
the others making and taking some tough shots. And he
hit his first two but it went home for five
after that as well as the kid right now made
two threes, but it had twenty five points. But if
he's scoring twenty five and the others are held to
single digits, we'll take that trade off every day.

Speaker 3 (01:25:16):
You know, you've had a lot of nice stretches, were
a couple off days in between. We've had a busy
stretch of games.

Speaker 2 (01:25:21):
Now we've got a busy stretch coming up before the
next weekend and a long road trip. Have you had
to alter in terms of practices, workouts, guys you know,
wanting to get their shots up and still get some
downtime away because the schedule is about to pick up
a little bit and here in the next few weeks.

Speaker 4 (01:25:38):
Yeah, we definitely have. We got a good three day
break after the Golden State game, and so we took
a good amount of time off. No, we had a
back to back against Utah coming out of it. You know,
time changes, coming back home for Thanksgiving and going back
out west and now you know, five to seven days basically,
and so a lot of lot less practice time. Now
the back to backs are eventually catch up to you,

(01:26:00):
and so we're conserving as much energy and saving rates
as much as possible. So some of the teams we've
just seen Phoenix, so we can limit some practice time
and more film work and walk through and get ready
for that.

Speaker 2 (01:26:11):
And the tlaspactor back go back to back with Utah,
you beat them up pretty good on Sunday and they'll
drop the game on Monday. Is that a lesson for
the next time you got back to back to the
same team or is it just a one offer in
your mind.

Speaker 4 (01:26:25):
No, you have to understand when you beat a team
by thirty, you know, on their home floor, and you
have to play them again, they're going to come out
with a different mindset and you try to guard against
that and prepare for that. And you know, our intensity
wasn't the same definitely in the second game, especially in
the first half. We got down twenty and then has
always fought our way back, got to three points late
in the game, and so if we bring that same

(01:26:45):
intensity early in the game, it's a different story. But
understanding the teams are going to take that hit and
be more aggressive, you have to meet that for us.

Speaker 2 (01:26:54):
As for you were talking with Ross about the lineups
and who starts and who's not, and I thought Kevin
was pretty good yesterday about talking about Josha Kogie. And
he's not going to have a lot of shots. He's
probably not more than the fourth or fifth option and
you're starting five. But his plus minus always seems to
be good. He's always very active.

Speaker 3 (01:27:11):
And I know you've been asked about it a few times,
but has he been a low key kind of Wow,
he even brought more than maybe we even thought he
would when he finished signed with the team.

Speaker 4 (01:27:20):
Yeah, so you look at more so the defenders are
the people he's guarding. You look at their numbers, and
like I mentioned, those guys that were held to five
and two and twelve points, you know they have a
twenty one point score and three eighteen point scores, And
so to hold those guys down, he's done his job
as far as that. He'll play off the other guys
and be a recipient if he if alp in kV

(01:27:41):
get double team to get on transition or so be it.
But overall, I think just the impact he's has been great,
especially with the injuries. I would say that's the reason
he didn't expect it as much. With Dorian being out
and Jay Shawn starting the season slow. Him getting that opportunity.
He really looked good and as soon as he got
here training camp and everything else, and so taking advantage opportunity.
And it's great to have another defender out there to

(01:28:03):
take some of the load offs.

Speaker 2 (01:28:04):
Man, Steven Adams continues to be a plus for you.
Eleven points and eight rebounds off the bench. You also
had five of those on the offensive side. Can you
just break down for us, like, what is it about
him that makes him so good on that end? How
much of it is instructions from you guys, the coaches
and just some kind of innate ability he has to

(01:28:26):
be so effective offensive rebounding.

Speaker 4 (01:28:29):
Yeah, had nothing to do with us. He's been doing
this his whole career. We you know, double and triple
down on it and encourage him to do it more
as well as other guys. But when we got him
from Memphis, we watched a ton of tape and saw
the impact he had on that end of the floor,
in that area specifically. But you know, it starts with strength.
You know, you got to be strong enough to hold
guys off Wedgem under the basket. But he has a

(01:28:51):
great timing in sense of where the ball is going
to come and anticipation and so combination of all very
high a Q player that knows his role and knows
how he impacts the game. And you know, obviously he's
brought that toughness and and those second chance points to
us since he got here.

Speaker 1 (01:29:06):
Last question he may.

Speaker 3 (01:29:07):
Do you think Dylan saves some material for you tomorrow
night coming in town for the first time since the trade,
and have you saved some of your material for him
as well?

Speaker 4 (01:29:16):
Yeah, I mean he hugged it up with everybody. He's
gonna talk and do what he does. He saw the
Laker game obviously the other day, but had a really
good game against us as well, and so I think
he's always gonna be excited to play. He carries that
edge and chip on his shoulder regardless, and there's no
ill will between us, but he always wants to show
up in next team, I'm sure, and so doing a
great job, especially with a booker out. You know, thirty

(01:29:38):
plus points against the Lakers the other night, twenty nine
against us, and he's really finding his way offensively and
brought that edge and toughness to Phoenix that that needed.

Speaker 3 (01:29:45):
All right, Del'll be in town tomorrow night, Rockets and
sons and a quick trip to Dallas after that. Coach,
thank you for the time. We'll see you tomorrow night
and grats will win last night against the Kings. We
appreciate him as always.

Speaker 4 (01:29:55):
Thank you, guys.

Speaker 2 (01:29:56):
I will see emy Dooka with us here for weekly
is it on Sports Talk seven? Great stuff is always
so you guys are playing like a junior varsity team.
It's pretty good.

Speaker 3 (01:30:09):
God, the material is so good and it's so low key.

Speaker 2 (01:30:13):
I mean, as a matter of fact, you listen to
email and look, we ninety percent of our conversations are
with the microphone on ten percenter off.

Speaker 3 (01:30:22):
But that's he's pretty much there there. There's no on
or off microphone for him.

Speaker 2 (01:30:28):
I mean some screaming or yelling, but not just you know,
not just like out out and out yelling and making
a Yeah it is sincere.

Speaker 1 (01:30:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:30:38):
And when he wants to attack you and say things
bad about you, it can be very cutting, very biting.
Kind of reminds me of me. Oh really, yeah, okay,
things I say about behind your back. Oh, some of
the material is amazing. I'm sure it's great.

Speaker 1 (01:30:52):
All right, Hey, we're gonna go from one team that's
getting a lot of positive conversation to another one. There
is an ESPN analyst that was loving on your beloved
Houston Texans, and I have a question for hm.

Speaker 3 (01:31:06):
Oh no, wait, I guess it depends on who it was.

Speaker 1 (01:31:10):
Well, I think you're wearing a funny hat. You know
you're gonna be okay with it.

Speaker 2 (01:31:12):
Okay, We're gonna play the audio for you, and I'm
gonna then ask you this question. Do you like all
this extra lovin the Texans are getting because sometimes you
may want to be low key and just kind of
off the radar. Okay, I think the Texans are being
put on the national stage on the radar. We'll talk
about that next. It's twelve eleven on Sports Talk seven ninety.

(01:31:34):
If you would like to join us, we'd love to
have you at seven one three two one two five
seven ninety seven one three two one two five seven ninety.
We have the Rotten five coming up in forty five
minutes and believe it or not, today at one point
fifty seven one three two one two five seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (01:31:50):
On Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 2 (01:31:55):
All right, how do we feel sports RV? Because you
are battle rend rass about the national folks loving on
the beloved AFC South team. It's net yet to make
the playoffs because at the season and that they wouldn't
be in.

Speaker 1 (01:32:07):
But they are one of the hottest teams in the
National Football League.

Speaker 2 (01:32:10):
They are well tell me exactly who was speaking well
about them and what was said. I will say this,
this is one of the lossiest NFL players ever to play,
one of the lousiest NFL players ever to play. But
maybe my favorite NFL analyst danie Rolowski, dan Orlovsky.

Speaker 1 (01:32:28):
He was on the show Texans Legend dan Orlosk.

Speaker 2 (01:32:31):
He was on Get Up, which I don't want that
show because it's basically that win bag. Mike Greenberg time
too much, loves the Jets for four hours underneath Dad.
But when he lets Orlovsky speak, I tend to listen.
And here is what Dan is seeing lately in two
things that I never think, we would never think an
NFL analyst would ever have to say about what's going
on right with the Houston Texans.

Speaker 3 (01:32:52):
The Chiefs at this point.

Speaker 16 (01:32:54):
But let's zero in a little bit on the Texans
because they are on this four game win streak.

Speaker 11 (01:32:58):
Well, what's changed for their offense specific.

Speaker 16 (01:33:00):
It's the most improved offensive line in football, and it's
the most improved offensive.

Speaker 3 (01:33:04):
Coordinator in football.

Speaker 16 (01:33:05):
Shout out to Nick Kyley his growth this season. We've
talked for years, about two years about how bad this
offensive line has been a Houston and the impact on
the quarterback. It looked like twenty twenty three c J.

Speaker 1 (01:33:16):
Stroud.

Speaker 16 (01:33:17):
The firmness in the middle of the pocket allows for
what I would say.

Speaker 1 (01:33:20):
One of his strengths is is that react and reset. Reacted, reset,
react and reset. Ball over the middlefield.

Speaker 3 (01:33:25):
Shotgun once again goes.

Speaker 1 (01:33:27):
To the bottom. Wants to throw the out route.

Speaker 11 (01:33:28):
Not there.

Speaker 1 (01:33:29):
How firm is the pocket for him?

Speaker 16 (01:33:30):
Firm enough where he can hang hang now, climb on
a huge third down, no body.

Speaker 1 (01:33:35):
Near him, thumb the ball off for conversion. This is
my favorite play, my favorite play of the game. This
is vented CJ. Stroud ball fake.

Speaker 16 (01:33:42):
I want to throw the in route right now at
the bottom of the screen.

Speaker 1 (01:33:44):
It's not there.

Speaker 16 (01:33:45):
Middle linebackers there. Reset to the top, but I got
to have the pocket to do it, and then throw
the ball to the out route right on the sideline.

Speaker 3 (01:33:53):
Beautiful.

Speaker 1 (01:33:53):
That is twenty twenty three. This offensive line was terrible
last year. Look at the number of difference.

Speaker 3 (01:33:58):
Okay, this point.

Speaker 1 (01:34:00):
Last year, one hundred and four pressures and.

Speaker 16 (01:34:03):
Twenty one hundred and sixty four pressures, twenty five sacks.
Right now, one hundred and six pressures, So a little
bit more than fifty less fourteen sacks.

Speaker 1 (01:34:11):
That's eleven less.

Speaker 16 (01:34:13):
That is huge by that center guard or that guard
center guard.

Speaker 1 (01:34:17):
Trio totally has changed.

Speaker 16 (01:34:19):
It's the most improved offensive line in football, and it's
the most improved and developed offensive coordinator in the game
right now.

Speaker 3 (01:34:26):
All right, I believe fifty two percent of what he said.
Only fifty two percent?

Speaker 2 (01:34:32):
Yeah, why uh, the facts bear it down, and we've
talked about this with the Pro Football Focus grades. The
offensive line is playing much better, Yes it is, and
so that's really indisputable. The pressures, the sacks allowed, yes,
the pressure rays, the pancake blocks, all that can be found.
I don't think Dan Olowski's watched seventeen or how many

(01:34:55):
Texans games twelve. Nick Kelly is not significantly better season
to season. First of all, this is first year as
an offensive coordinator. He might be better than he was
six weeks ago. Yeah, but he came across glowingly to
Nick Kayley it's not a glowing season for Nick Cayley.

Speaker 1 (01:35:16):
I'm sorry it's not.

Speaker 2 (01:35:17):
It's a better run as of late, and a lot
of that is because the defense is covering up the
wards of the offense.

Speaker 1 (01:35:23):
But this is not a high acten offense.

Speaker 2 (01:35:26):
It's not an overly enthusiastic, creative play calling offense. Now, granted,
three of the games have been with Davis Mills, so
you're gonna pbly limit things here. The team still struggles
in the red zone. It's better, but it still struggles.
It still relies too much on Kymi Fairbarn. It's better,
but I think Dan was a little a little anxious

(01:35:47):
in his praise for the Texans offensive er.

Speaker 1 (01:35:51):
That's why I disagree.

Speaker 2 (01:35:52):
It's not like they're ripping off thirty thirty points a
game or anything like that. But I do think Nick
Kaylee has been better. We're seeing more play action. We're
seeing Mike for example, well you're seeing around on Nico
College's fantastic a red zone and I was just about
to bring that up a end around. We're seeing some
more creativity to where, okay, we're not getting great push
up the middle here, so let's get a little creative
let's do something else rather than a run just rather

(01:36:14):
or an end zone fade and a run up the
middle smashed wood, he marks into a pile for a
negative one yard. So I think we are seeing a
little bit more creativity. We are seeing more play action,
Dalton Schultz getting more involved in the game. And it's
all it all is on the pillar of the offensive line.
It starts with all that Nick Cayley's play calls. I'm
gonna tell you he wasn't calling plays in Week one

(01:36:37):
that had no chance. They have chances as long as
everybody's on the same page and things hold up. And
what you need to do is have things that can
still work when things aren't going your way, especially with
the offensive line and when it comes to blocking. So
I do think he's improved. Is he top five coordinator
in the league or anything like that. No, But he
went from what the heck is this guy doing out here?

(01:37:00):
Two things that are looking a lot better. And one
way for the offensive coordinator look better is to have
a better offensive line, which he's had as well. Not
to say that his job was ever in jeopardy, although
there is precedents out there the coaches can get fired
after one season he could. I'll ask you this all right,
if I said no, if fans or butts, Nick Caley

(01:37:21):
is coming back as the offensive coordinator in twenty twenty six,
are you feeling good about that? I think there's still
a lot of season to be left. But I would
say right now he is a heavy favorite feedback. I'll
go three to one. We'll put this way. I didn't
think he was gonna get fired for doing Paul. What
is a polymarket that betting side?

Speaker 4 (01:37:39):
I do now?

Speaker 2 (01:37:39):
But all mantey right now is if you went back
and looked at the average textan tweet, whatever that is. Yes,
Nick Caley did not want to look at his Twitter
feed in September and October of this year, it was
what are the Texans doing again? There were endless jokes
ROSSI about the Nick Cassario pipeline, that small college he

(01:38:03):
went to and how he only picks guys that have
had patriot ties or where he went to school.

Speaker 1 (01:38:08):
That was six weeks ago. This wasn't a year ago.

Speaker 2 (01:38:12):
So that's why I said, I largely agree with dan Orlovsky,
but I can't go.

Speaker 1 (01:38:18):
All the way through.

Speaker 2 (01:38:18):
I think we still have to see how this thing
turns out in the crucial games. And I think, frankly,
if Nick key Kelly can call an outstanding game on
Sunday and spice things up against the Chiefs, because again,
I think it's gonna you're gonna have to do a shoot.
I don't if it's gonna be the high scoring, but
you're gonna have to go monol mono obviously with points.
I like what I've seen diversity wise. I want to

(01:38:39):
see more of it. I want to see it against
a good team on the road and you know, Chili conditions. Yeah,
Nick Keayley is not some footballing genius, but I think
things have been improving and getting a lot better. And
you're it's not an accident. You're not hearing his name
brought up as much because I mean, it's it's low
hanging fruit. Let's go after the hitting coaches, go after

(01:39:00):
the offensive coordinator, let's go after the defensive coordinator.

Speaker 3 (01:39:03):
All that stuff. Special teams coach miss extra point, you
gotta fire him. Yeah, no, And that's what it is.
It's did you see young way Ku by the way, Yes,
ram his foot into the dirt.

Speaker 1 (01:39:16):
Those who didn't see it, it was the game.

Speaker 2 (01:39:17):
The Patriots and the Giants, and he is the Giants kicker,
and he went to go kick a field goal and
he came up short. He was like, uh, it would
be the example would be using your wedge and hitting
the grass so hard that you don't even swing and
get part of the ball, which I've done frequently. I've
given up on golf. I have never have you ever

(01:39:40):
seen that in a football game. I have never seen
that now the NFL game. I've never seen that in
high school.

Speaker 3 (01:39:45):
It was like, he literally it would be like again, uh,
going to on your driver at the number one t
swinging as hard as you can and whiffing and coming
up well short with a massive divot behind the ball.
It's like if you put a stilt on his leg
and he forgot how long his legs were. Your legs,
you changed the length of the club, Lenka, change the

(01:40:06):
length of your legs.

Speaker 1 (01:40:07):
This is still the same young way who that beat
the Texans last year.

Speaker 2 (01:40:09):
Yeah, and he well, he got released by the Falcons
because he was bad, and then got picked up by.

Speaker 1 (01:40:13):
The Giants, who are awful.

Speaker 4 (01:40:16):
Oh.

Speaker 3 (01:40:16):
Speaking of that, we're twenty minutes away from the rotten five. Oh,
let's believe it or not today one fifty. Oh man,
it's gonna be a good one.

Speaker 2 (01:40:28):
I asked hold on. First of all, I asked you
for a topic an hour. You could have worked on
it during the game. Last I asked you for a
topic an hour ago. All right, let's find out what's
going on the world of Twitter to see if there's
anything worthy of a What is the trending thing going
on right now?

Speaker 3 (01:40:42):
Trending?

Speaker 2 (01:40:42):
Let's see here, Walter Payton now own National Cookie Day? Hmm,
Merry Christmas? No paramount? Earl Campbell's trending? Why I hope
he's okay? M Happy birthday? Dan is trending on Twitter?

Speaker 1 (01:41:03):
Dan Matthews, Happy Birthday, Dan? Sun Belt Billy is trending?
The hell's Sunbaye? Who the hell is sun Belt?

Speaker 3 (01:41:09):
Builty? Emily Emma Stone is trending? That's good? Or Moon
is trending? What's going on?

Speaker 1 (01:41:15):
All these oilers trends and they're just tailored for you?
So rotten? Five twenty minutes from now?

Speaker 3 (01:41:26):
What's the matter?

Speaker 1 (01:41:27):
What you were like trying to hold it in?

Speaker 3 (01:41:29):
Something?

Speaker 17 (01:41:29):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (01:41:29):
No, no, anything sounds great, looking good? Breaking? Wait you
have breaking news or something?

Speaker 6 (01:41:35):
No?

Speaker 2 (01:41:35):
Okay, you're right, I'm doing great because expect that seven
one three two one two five seven. Any if you're
doing great, give us a shout out. We've had calls
north of IT ten today. Have we had taken a
call south of IT ten?

Speaker 3 (01:41:48):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:41:49):
I want to hear from you.

Speaker 3 (01:41:53):
South Houston, League City, Parlama like Parland.

Speaker 1 (01:41:58):
Where are you calls from the rig Hobby Airport? Where
are you at?

Speaker 3 (01:42:01):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (01:42:03):
Seven one three two one two five seven. I'm about
to ask you a stupid.

Speaker 3 (01:42:17):
NFL question. If the Texans win this game, all right,
then they have.

Speaker 2 (01:42:30):
Arizona, then they have Las Vegas, then they have a
trip to LA against the Chargers. And we know the
Chargers are I mean, they're not any more of a
solid team to win the AMC than the Texans are.
And they and then the Texans win the final game
against the Colts. What kind of streak is that? Sports Harv?

Speaker 3 (01:42:51):
Is that a nine gamer? Here comes a stupid question,
and I apologize in advance gain What my question is?

Speaker 1 (01:43:01):
No, Okaka, maybe.

Speaker 3 (01:43:05):
Does it scare you that a team is that hot
going into the postseason?

Speaker 14 (01:43:08):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (01:43:09):
No, of course not Again, if you trying to go
ninety three Oilers on us, or does it.

Speaker 2 (01:43:14):
Ninety four ninety four, because that's the last time I
remember a team that I loved playing so well like that.
And then so they they open up the year one
in three and I think they finished twelve and four
home playoff game.

Speaker 3 (01:43:33):
They get the they said the first and second one
in two seats back then, and good to buye. Now
it's only the one seed. We hosted Kansas City, Montana
the week before, seventy five year old Marcus Allen. Marcus
Allen and one of those tech those twins from one
of the tight end twins from Texas a way back
in the day. Forget who they were.

Speaker 2 (01:43:54):
Yeah, it was in ninety three, Oilers, but the game
was in ninety four. The playoff game was in ninety four.
That's why I brought that up. And again, if you
think I'm completely false, first saying that, I apologize. They
started at one and four and finished twelve and four.
Well twelve and five, of course, but yes, yeah, okay, yeah,
eleven in a row. So you're saying they got no

(01:44:16):
by weeks, Yeah no, no, no, that was division round.
Look this is bye week week five. Oh yeah, they
used to two by week. Yeah, I shuld talk about
during during the season. Yeah, they used to have two
weeks off.

Speaker 3 (01:44:29):
I didn't know that.

Speaker 1 (01:44:29):
Yeah for a short time, one very long.

Speaker 3 (01:44:32):
That's a good idea. Sixteen to two.

Speaker 1 (01:44:34):
Yeah, extended its eighteen weeks back then too, But there
were only four television partners.

Speaker 3 (01:44:40):
There was another. I shut your b mass up. Get
on the now, there's a lot player safety player safety
player safety.

Speaker 1 (01:44:45):
Oh what, Oh, we need to make more money near mind,
get rid of bye week.

Speaker 2 (01:44:49):
I meant to tell you about that that you were
talking yesterday about that Sports Broadcasting Act. Yes, you are right,
there is something about that. It's like a fifty year
old thing. It's basically protecting high school football. Yes, and
I couldn't recall the details. I'm gonna give you the details.
But because I looked at on an awful announcing. The
reason why I bring this up is that Roger Goodell

(01:45:09):
wants to make some more schedule changes for next year
in the foreseeable future, and one of them is adding
potentially a second Black Friday game. Okay, and there are
some roadblocks, roadblocks that Broadcasting Act. And we'll take about
it a little bit. But I just was saying so
if I tell you the Texans enter the playoffs with
a nine game winning streak, that doesn't doesn't even a

(01:45:30):
wee bit scary you at all.

Speaker 3 (01:45:31):
No, Okay, No, that's fine. It shouldn't. Okay.

Speaker 2 (01:45:34):
I mean, as long as they're all healthy and good
to go, I don't care about that. Grant if they
also won seven to nine, and they could be, they
could have one bad something in lose Gamber's fallacy. Eight
reds in a row. You're like, oh, it can't be
another red. It doesn't matter. It's made it there, there's
no math to support that. There can't be another red next.
That's how I feel about three blacks and you see

(01:45:55):
your dealer, get three black shacks in a row. Guess
what you leave the table. Fourth one can come. I've
seen it, so same thing good with the bad. It'd
be nice. They would have all the momentum, Matt. They
would be the hottest team. They'd be the pick. Remember
I said, never ever ever with Cassario running the team,

(01:46:18):
that a good super Bowl I'd beat.

Speaker 1 (01:46:20):
That'd be the all time crow eating moment.

Speaker 3 (01:46:23):
I would love it so much.

Speaker 2 (01:46:25):
I'll get your battle red Stroud jersey. You know what
I'll get your battle red custom made Nick Cassario jersey.

Speaker 3 (01:46:31):
No, he doesn't have a jersey. I'm gonna get you one.

Speaker 2 (01:46:33):
Give me a vest, Casio battle red battle Let me
put that battle red sweater vest.

Speaker 1 (01:46:41):
Can you buy one. Here's what's gonna happen. If the
Texans make the Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (01:46:45):
I will stop making fun of their number of fake
media that get credentials for their events. Oh, here we go,
sixty three bucks. I'll get your battle red a little
sweater vest. All right there it is, keep your core bookmarket.
I will buy that to pay for this, dude, No,
I'll I'll pay for it. I'll pay for it. I
will buy that vest and wear out in public. It's

(01:47:08):
got a nice little pocket zip. And then, by the way,
you know you, I become deep steel mad at that
point too. On all your liberty white Matt, why do
you say that?

Speaker 3 (01:47:16):
Why not? I got some soul in me because you
know you will you embody liberty Matt and freedom. What
are you talking about? Call me liberty Matt? Then don't
call me liberty white Matt.

Speaker 1 (01:47:25):
You're not steely. You should come me Rhythm and soul,
m T.

Speaker 3 (01:47:33):
Rhythm and soul, Yes, sir, give me one song that
rhythms that you know, wonder that's such a give me,
give me something that.

Speaker 2 (01:47:44):
Coming to me by Luther No, James ing madd didn't
even know who Funkadelic was. Come to me by James Ingram. Okay,
let's what, Okay, Mad didn't know Frankie, Beverley and mayswere.

Speaker 1 (01:47:56):
That's not true.

Speaker 3 (01:47:57):
That is true. Actually I was blown away.

Speaker 1 (01:47:59):
I can't.

Speaker 3 (01:47:59):
Can I give you some Shaka Khan shocking Shaka Khan?
All right, let's move on.

Speaker 1 (01:48:04):
Roger on seven ninety forty, Hello, Roger, Hey.

Speaker 8 (01:48:08):
God, before we move forward, Man, what am I eating
right now? What did I just get?

Speaker 4 (01:48:13):
Hell?

Speaker 3 (01:48:14):
Yeah, your lady, you're disgusting.

Speaker 1 (01:48:17):
Your lady disgusting.

Speaker 8 (01:48:19):
I just I just got her the thing with a
green grid Son.

Speaker 3 (01:48:24):
So no, can't do it, hey, Roger, tayl lad you're
gonna make sweet love to her? Then I thanks thinking
thinking make rib that goes without saying my friends, all right,
very good.

Speaker 8 (01:48:34):
Anyways, it's so okay.

Speaker 13 (01:48:38):
Uh uh.

Speaker 8 (01:48:39):
Steven Adams is his presence becoming more and more valuable
the day, every every game that goes by, because I
see a difference in the Rockets with him on the
floor that I those don't see when he's not playing,
either back to back or whatever it may be. But man,
this guy is very I don't think I don't even
think he had was gonna know how valuable this guy

(01:49:03):
was gonna be to this team, because I see a
very big difference when he's in the when he's in
the game. Uh.

Speaker 14 (01:49:09):
I'm just saying that.

Speaker 8 (01:49:11):
Toughness kind of like it doesn't go away, but it
becomes a lesson to the factor where you know, people
can just go into painting and get multiple lafts. Now
that might be because of focus or whatever, but certainly,
certainly it's a difference, a noticeable one. And as far
as the Texans are concerned, Yeah, man, I don't see.

(01:49:32):
I really hope this is the time that they go
into uh to Arrowhead Stadium and just you know, you know,
knock him out, you know, get rid of them, and yeah,
and then hopefully you know, they don't regress and and
you know and fall into any trap games. Guys, stay drive,
got my mcgrids. Life is good.

Speaker 1 (01:49:53):
Life is great. Thank you, Roger.

Speaker 2 (01:49:55):
People discuss me, would you like an analogy that I
don't think you're going to like even mister analogy, what
do you got. I'm one for one of my analogies
so so far to that, I'm proud of you. Are
the Texans to the Chiefs, like the Aggies and the Longhorns,
m like they're they're people don't want to admit it,

(01:50:18):
but they're their daddy. Like, for instance, the Textans are
having this great run, just like the Aggies had this
great run.

Speaker 3 (01:50:25):
But they're seven and five.

Speaker 1 (01:50:27):
Okay, so start saying it doesn't fit.

Speaker 3 (01:50:30):
Go ahead, go ahead, mister analogy.

Speaker 2 (01:50:31):
Flesh it out, because everybody's ready to proclaim them the
future AFC champions even though they're not eligible for the
playoffs just yet. But if you can't beat big Brother,
you should be in the conversation. No, I would say
it's not gonna fit because the Aggies can still win
a national championship. The Agies could always win a national
championship even if they lose a text every single year.

Speaker 3 (01:50:51):
That's true.

Speaker 2 (01:50:52):
Go asco, you can win the Super Bowl even if
they lose the Chiefs depending on that. You're not in
the playoffs. Yeah, do you imagine a Texas text thing
in playoff game? That would be we won't be imagining
that in that this year because Texas is getting slighted
after losing in the difficult environment of the swamp and

(01:51:14):
you had it was a peskiar trip to Lexington than
it was.

Speaker 4 (01:51:17):
I know.

Speaker 1 (01:51:18):
Oh hold on, now, don't get lectured.

Speaker 3 (01:51:21):
Startville is a little more difficulty to lectured.

Speaker 2 (01:51:23):
By Longhorn Scott for saying they had difficulties with Mississippi
State first pointing out a truth, just do it, Ohio stated,
does just beat everybody up.

Speaker 3 (01:51:34):
They just win, Babe, beatle. You can beat Ohio State.
That was a winnable game. You can beat Florida that game.

Speaker 2 (01:51:40):
Honestly, the committee came out and said Hunter your check
and others, and it's absolutely one hundercent true. Twenty nine
to twenty one doesn't even reflect that they got beat down.
How bad they beat got beat down?

Speaker 1 (01:51:49):
Yeah, thirty five to ten to Longtin was closer, It
was it closer in twenty one was more of a beatdown. Yeah, yeah,
that's right. As I think he said, they didn't have
fifty yards rushing in that game. So you're telling me
that the CFP committee did some homework, then that's what
you're trying to tell me.

Speaker 3 (01:52:05):
No, No, listen, A Longhorn fan. They're getting slighted this one.
We're gonna cancel all the games. I'm seeing Longhorn fans
and I do get it, So it's not just that
I don't get.

Speaker 1 (01:52:13):
It, but cancel the games.

Speaker 3 (01:52:15):
Canceled next year's game with Ohio State, candle the upcoming
games with Michigan. We're going to tick I bought and
go home.

Speaker 1 (01:52:23):
Wa fun of it.

Speaker 3 (01:52:26):
We're used to that.

Speaker 2 (01:52:26):
With the Texas arrogance. Where did this not from up? No,
they knew from a college fan base is whiny. They'll
get me started on your kooks fans. No net no,
they're they came after you too. They're nice people.

Speaker 1 (01:52:38):
We love you to be fired.

Speaker 3 (01:52:40):
We've been disrespected for too long. When where's steppingtone?

Speaker 1 (01:52:45):
Program?

Speaker 3 (01:52:45):
They never won anything?

Speaker 2 (01:52:46):
Shout out cook fans love you guys, bunch of whiners
and losers. Matt Thomas show with Ross. If you feel
sorry for Texas and are pounding this seven, one, three, five, except.

Speaker 1 (01:53:00):
They've gone there. They they draw flies. It's Ross's rotts
in five.

Speaker 3 (01:53:09):
This don't smell quite right. Oh, such a good song.

Speaker 2 (01:53:19):
By the way, I failed to mention what happened yesterday
in the Rotten five of college basketball.

Speaker 1 (01:53:29):
Yesterday. Yesterday in Austin.

Speaker 3 (01:53:33):
Hold on, they're at the rotten five. I think they are.

Speaker 2 (01:53:37):
They're like a top fifty team according to Kim Palm.
So it was the acc SEC Challenge. Yes, that wasn't
much of a challenge.

Speaker 1 (01:53:46):
No challenge.

Speaker 3 (01:53:46):
In Austin, Virginia goes to Austin and beats the Longhorns
on their home floor at the beautiful Moodie Center. Yes,
eighty eight to sixty nine. It was a real barn burner.
Longhorns are six and three three, Okay your point?

Speaker 13 (01:54:04):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (01:54:04):
No point.

Speaker 1 (01:54:06):
Now, let's go check on the SFA Jacks. Oh wow,
I like this.

Speaker 3 (01:54:11):
Oh my god, they're six and two. Come on, now,
give me some stack. Let's run through who they've pleting
so far.

Speaker 2 (01:54:18):
They open up the year with a win against Millsaps,
then they won Arkansas State. They won it at Rice
by twelve, PROG beat Ablene Christian by ten, lost by
two to Fresno State, lost at Pepperdine by three, and
lost at UT Arlington by five. In the month of December,

(01:54:40):
they took care of U t Rio Grande seventy three
sixty and have a matchup with U l. Monroe this
Sunday in Naka nowhere.

Speaker 3 (01:54:48):
Hmm. Other non other games coming up before the end
of the month.

Speaker 2 (01:54:53):
A game at home against A and M Corpus Christy,
a game against Dallas, just playing Dallas at East Texas
A and M and at Northwestern States.

Speaker 1 (01:55:03):
Ouch.

Speaker 2 (01:55:08):
Now, without any further ado, we take zero talent to
give you the five best teams in the NFL. Who
are the five works we present to you Ross's Rotten five.

Speaker 1 (01:55:17):
Thank you, Matthew, appreciate you.

Speaker 2 (01:55:19):
Let's go ahead and get things started with the New
York Footbald Giants. They are on a whopping a seven
game losing streak, the latest coming at home against the
New England Patriots, where Jackson Dart, who's already had injury
issues this year, was getting completely.

Speaker 1 (01:55:38):
Blown up off the sideline.

Speaker 3 (01:55:40):
Then after the game doubled down and said, hey, check
my high school tape, bra this is how I play.

Speaker 1 (01:55:47):
Well, this ain't high school, Jackson Dart. You gotta get up.
You're up to the big leagues now.

Speaker 2 (01:55:52):
And if you want to keep on lowering your shoulder
and lowering your helmet on people, you got some brain
scrambling a coming New York Giants are two and eleven.
They're horrible, and their franchise quarterback thinks it's a good
idea to go square up with linebackers. They're the fifth
worst team in the NFL. You lose, good daiser, all right,

(01:56:14):
this team won a couple of days ago, but they
excuse me, a couple of weeks ago. But it was
only against the Raiders, who are going to be on
this list later. They still lost four of their last five.
Their latest was an absolute embarrassment against the San Francisco
forty nine Ers. Shador Sanders is not the answer. They
are not a good team, even though their defense is

(01:56:34):
pretty solid. The Cleveland Browns right now three and nine
on the year, not sure that Shudor Sanders is going
to be the savior. Dylan Gabriel even getting some action
in the past week as well. The Browns, You are terrible.
You are the fourth worst team in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (01:56:52):
You are a factory of sadness. I know, I know,
all right, Well, now let's go down to said Louisiana, baby,
because the New Orleans says are terrible. They are two
to ten on the year. They have lost six of
their last seven games.

Speaker 1 (01:57:08):
Not even sure.

Speaker 3 (01:57:09):
How they won that.

Speaker 2 (01:57:09):
Game against Panthers a couple of weeks ago, lost this
last week against the Miami Dolphins. Doesn't matter who their
quarterback is, is it Spencer Rattler?

Speaker 1 (01:57:18):
Terrible?

Speaker 2 (01:57:18):
Tyler Schuck not good? Who's have you heard of Devin Neil?
Did you pick him up off the waiver wire? That's
the RB one right now. For the New Orleans Saints,
They're bad on both sides of the ball. They're awful.
They are the third worst team in the NFL. But yeah,
go sick the head up though, I know I love
having the New Orleans Saints in the Rotten five so

(01:57:39):
we can continue to play that.

Speaker 7 (01:57:41):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:57:41):
What the heck happened to Pete Carroll and the Las
Vegas Raiders. They have lost six games in a row.
They have only won two games on the season. How
in the heck did they beat the New England Patriots
in Week one? Gino Smith has been terrible, Ashton Jin
he is not gonna sniff one thousand rush yards for

(01:58:03):
the lost NITAS.

Speaker 3 (01:58:04):
Sider told you that.

Speaker 2 (01:58:05):
By the way, fifteen carries for thirty one yards. It's
funny how you are backing off that opinion. And now
it's looking good and you're back on the train. That's
funny anyways, two point one yards, but carry for genty
I mean Gino Smith terrible, Las Vegas Raiders awful, second worst.

Speaker 1 (01:58:21):
Team in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (01:58:25):
And my goodness, gracious, what can be said about the
Tennessee Titans that hasn't been said about Afghanistan? They are
terrible one and eleven and honestly, you know that one
game that they did win against the Cardinals, that was
like the luckiest win in NFL history. Since then, they
have lost seven, count them, seven games in a row.

(01:58:49):
Defense actually showed up a little bit against Texans. They
were a little bit better in a close game against
the Seahawks. But how about laying an absolute egg against
the Jaguars, who are not very good, losing twenty five
to three in that game? Cam Ward, I mean, time
will tell on him, but this doesn't sound good. Hey,

(01:59:10):
twenty four to thirty eight this weekend, that's pretty good
for one hundred and forty one yards. That is three point.

Speaker 3 (01:59:19):
Seven yards per passing attempt. That is a bad rushing
attempt number. Three point seven yards per pass attempt. Cam Ward,
what do you gotta say about that? I mean, we're
keeping a book round now as.

Speaker 2 (01:59:34):
Absolute worst team in the NFL. Your Tennessee Titans.

Speaker 3 (01:59:41):
Love it.

Speaker 1 (01:59:42):
They're horrible. Believe this is maybe the best Rotten Five
drop ever.

Speaker 3 (01:59:46):
I mean, we're keeping a book round now as.

Speaker 1 (01:59:49):
So good.

Speaker 2 (01:59:50):
You know, he was the most unheralded one dash one
in probably ten or fifteen years, and it's playing right
up to par.

Speaker 3 (01:59:59):
Trying to think.

Speaker 1 (02:00:00):
Ligneman maybe was as non sexy as he was.

Speaker 2 (02:00:03):
Yeah, wasn't it Travon Walker that the Jaguars took last
year the year before I may.

Speaker 3 (02:00:10):
Yeah, I mean, yeah, I'm not trying to dispute you.

Speaker 2 (02:00:12):
It's people were like what I think we played the
Chris Gordy had the gut feeling in April, since you
were out, knew we had a for gut feelings. He
had cam Ward as a bust relative to them. So
we're gonna do a very important housekeeping issue here. You've
got some time coming off. You'll be next Thursday year
going to be here for the Rotten Five. You will
not be available on the eighteenth of the Rotten Five.

(02:00:34):
That'll be my birthday trip.

Speaker 1 (02:00:36):
You will not be available the following Friday Thursday because
that's Christmas. You want to do the Rotten five on
Rockets launch Pad?

Speaker 2 (02:00:43):
No, okay, you're gonna have to do the Rotten five
on December twenty fourth, Christmas Eve.

Speaker 1 (02:00:51):
Yeah, may shut jobmass up. Why I don't want to
do that.

Speaker 3 (02:00:54):
Why I don't want to work extra on Christmas Eve's
only one second you're working anyway.

Speaker 2 (02:00:58):
That's too much. And then January first, we're out of town.
I'm putting Rotten five on the twenty fourth. I mean
we're off, We're off on January first. What about January?
What about January eighth?

Speaker 4 (02:01:08):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (02:01:08):
No, up to do it?

Speaker 1 (02:01:09):
That wolf to do like the regular season bleeding into January? Now, yeah,
what is the last one? January?

Speaker 4 (02:01:14):
What is it? You know what?

Speaker 2 (02:01:15):
Yeah, let's be like everybody up in the regular offices
were off till January. See you next year. Yeah, it's
like we we'd go in there and yell at them,
but they're not. In the twenty twenty six. Yeah, we're
gonna we will have at least two more Rotten five
for the end of the year, one at the end
of season BS and one for like next Thursday. Thanks,

(02:01:35):
all right, let's get the final hour of the mat
Thomas Show started.

Speaker 1 (02:01:37):
We got with Ross. Let's do what is today's edition?

Speaker 3 (02:01:40):
I believe or not?

Speaker 6 (02:01:41):
You want to?

Speaker 3 (02:01:42):
Hell, we do din or a live I can do
it in an hour. Oh yeah, you know what, I'll
do it. Okay, I'm a team player. Don't hurt yourself.
Twelve fifty nine on Sports Talk seven ninety is.

Speaker 1 (02:01:52):
The Matt Thomas Show with Ross.

Speaker 3 (02:02:01):
All Right, we had email Doka one hour ago and
you're like, we missed it. Well, what do you think?
Yes or no? It's great stuff. I think it was.

Speaker 1 (02:02:13):
You know, well, let's play a few minutes of it
at one time. A few minutes, A few minutes, that
the whole thing.

Speaker 2 (02:02:17):
Yeah, we'll do one thing we catch on the podcastpet
sports Talk seven ninety dot com. There you go, seven
ninety and am out ninety four point five HD two Yes,
iHeartRadio app, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Spreaker Alexa, Yes, Alexa play
Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 3 (02:02:35):
By the way, I just found out that my number
one station on my iHeartRadio app is ours. That's mine too.

Speaker 2 (02:02:42):
I listened to the eight Team when I'm on the
road after the show, and it usually puts me to sleep,
so it's perfect. Were you looking at your Spotify rap
I don't have Spotify. Oh, but people are really upset
because they're aging them very poorly. Why poorly, Because everybody
that's been putting their their photos of what their Spotify
thinks they are.

Speaker 3 (02:03:02):
They're thinking they're sixty nine to seventy five years old.
Now there's people who are young.

Speaker 1 (02:03:07):
No I'm saying, but people, But if the Spotify doesn't
understand is if you listen to old music, it interprets
you as being old.

Speaker 2 (02:03:14):
Try not interpreting it as they're just saying you're listening age.
If you're listening something from fifty years ago. For example,
mine says my age was sixty nine. They said, I
like stuff from the early seventies. So somebody who was
born in the fifties would be well, okay, hold on,
what's sixty nine minus seventy five. That would be born
in sixty six, right, yes, So if I'm listening to

(02:03:35):
early seventies music, which it says I am, and then
I was born in sixty six, that's my listening age.
Because what would you be listening to if you were
around the age of a young person listening to that music?
So how would you describe my Spotify age, but ninety
seven one oh five times. I was just kidding you
might be younger than mine, because mine said early seventies
and it has me at sixty nine.

Speaker 3 (02:03:54):
You can find it on my Instagram.

Speaker 2 (02:03:55):
Hot sports are you. Yeah, I know some people who
got the eighties. Somebody sent me a DM of theirs.
They're they're eighty three. Somebody was sixty nine. My uh
my mom was like twenty three. Really yeah, that's interesting. Well,
also the kid the little kids take over her stuff
and listen to K pop demon Hunters, Well ninety I'll

(02:04:16):
be brutally honest with you, ninety percent of music I
listened to was created between say, nineteen seventy and nineteen
eighty four. See, I thought I was gonna be older,
But I do listen to like you know, of course
America's Songbird, Kendrick Lamar and other. I listened to the
New Clips album, some other some other modern raps. So
I think honestly that like brought my average down or something.

(02:04:37):
I thought I was gonna be older than sixty nine.

Speaker 3 (02:04:40):
Yeah, so.

Speaker 2 (02:04:43):
Yeah, I would say my average age of the music
I listened to is I mean, I go to concerts
on the youngest person there is what it is. Yeah,
see that's what I went to doobies. It is the
youngest person went to Berry Manil. I was the youngest
person with the Paul McCartney youngest person. Yeah, I know
went to Eagles. They handed out oxygen masks at the
at the Barry Manila. Let's get to the news at one. Yeah,
that's what I said the news at won today.

Speaker 3 (02:05:04):
What do you got?

Speaker 4 (02:05:05):
Well?

Speaker 1 (02:05:05):
He death stared me. Matt go away.

Speaker 2 (02:05:08):
A lot of news to report here at noon, Matthew
a couple of news items. Giannas Atada koombo a Tetokumpo
is out two to four weeks with a right calf strained,
sources tell ESPN's Shams Sharonium falling to the floor while
trying to get back on defense. It was a non

(02:05:29):
contact injury, which people, of course were worried about a
possible Achilles injury. They were immediately dismissed by head coach
Doc Rivers following the game after a preliminary mri I
was conducted to the Kombo, missing four games last month
with a groin strain, now going to miss a couple
of weeks with a calf strain. Does that put any

(02:05:50):
cause for concern for his trade ability? We shall see,
because he and his agent apparently asking for a trade.

Speaker 3 (02:06:00):
Sure that they exploring, reported that it's compared to exploring
and asking for two different things.

Speaker 1 (02:06:05):
Make sure we're clear on that he.

Speaker 2 (02:06:07):
And his agent, Alex saratsis having conversation with the team
and discussing whether his bet fit is in Milwaukee or elsewhere.
Also reported by him's Sharania elsewhere in the news.

Speaker 3 (02:06:21):
Ole Miss ad.

Speaker 2 (02:06:23):
Disputing Lane Kiffin's version of his exit to LSU Athletic
director Keith Carter disputing several claims made by Lane Kiffen
appearing on Super Talk Mississippi, Matt which I know you
never missed an episode, said a lot of things publicly
I'm not sure are totally accurate, Carter said. Kiffin and

(02:06:46):
his representatives were told several weeks earlier that ole Miss
in the CFP was not possible if Kiffen took another job.
The only potential change was if ole Miss qualified for
the SEC title game. Carter had not decided whether Kiffen
would have coached that game either, like doubt.

Speaker 3 (02:07:03):
I don't believe you, Chris Gordy, I believe that lane
Kiffin is reinventing the story to make him look like
a nicer person. Hum I beloved he was in Oxford.
They told him to shut his bass up get out
of there.

Speaker 2 (02:07:13):
Also claims being disputed by several Ole Miss players, saying
that he did even though lane kiffen in his.

Speaker 1 (02:07:24):
What would you Call It?

Speaker 2 (02:07:25):
Farewell post Welcome to LSU post on X talking about
how several players were pleading for pleading to a dy
Keith Carter to let Lane Kiffin coach, players said didn't happen.
A couple of offensive linemen for the ole Miss Rebels
saying not a single player said that they wished lane

(02:07:46):
Kiffin could stay in coach, but Gordon came in here
running yes, said that that's just damage control by those
people campaign. If you with us, your against it hurts
and Ole Miss players will transfer to LSU once.

Speaker 1 (02:08:00):
Mark his words. Yeah, we're gonna mark him all right.
Some NFL news.

Speaker 2 (02:08:04):
Veteran cornerback Daris Slay was claimed by the Buffalo Bills
on Wednesday, said me's so sure I'm gonna be reporting
to Buffalo. According to his agent Drew Rosenhouse quote, Sleigh
is honored that a first class organization like the Bills
claimed him. But he's gonna take some time away from
football right now and decide in the next few days

(02:08:27):
if he wants to keep playing. Released by the Pittsburgh
Steelers on Tuesday, thirty four years old, Darius Lay claimed
by the Buffalo Bills. Not sure if he's going to
show up and continue to play. Why wouldn't you play
with the Bills. You got just as good a chance
as anybody else in the AFC to win the Super
Bowl ring And maybe he doesn't want to ride the pan,

(02:08:49):
So who knows if he's trying to finesse his way
to a free agency situation. But Darius Slay not sure
he wants to report to the Buffalo Bills. Elsewhere in
the NFL, Eagles defensive tackle one of the best in
the biz, Jalen Carter out for Monday Night's game against
the Los Angeles Chargers after going undergoing a procedure this

(02:09:10):
last Monday on both of his shoulders. According to ESPN's
Adam Schefter, going to undergrowth treatment considered week to week
to return.

Speaker 1 (02:09:20):
Hopefully he will.

Speaker 2 (02:09:21):
He's hoping to be as close to one percent as
possible for a playoff run. According to Adam Schefter and ESPN,
what are you feeling about the pecking order in the
NFC right now? We were saying the Rams are the favorites.
They just lost this last week to the Panthers. Best
record in the NFC would be your Chicago Bears and

(02:09:46):
the Los Angeles Rams and Seahawks. I like the nine
and three records, Like the Rams still in the nc
even though they lost to the Carolina Panthers, who were
actually surprising them. Good are the Bears the most anonymous
nine and three football team in history? New England's probably saying,
you know, I weren't there with you. By the way,
we got a Texans update for you on who's out
there and who's not. Texans update, go ahead, practice, Maddie.

(02:10:07):
Not our Texans reporter Wex obviously had Texans insider Wex
What did he have?

Speaker 1 (02:10:12):
So Texan Sadner is with you in the building right here? No, No,
is the insider in the room with us. Yes he is.

Speaker 2 (02:10:18):
He's there right and he's the handsome man to your left.
Well Anderson practicing, Denico Autry practicing, Trent Brown practicing what
he marked practicing, Alziz Auscheier, who will be penalized this
week for a late hit against Pat Mahomes is practicing.

Speaker 1 (02:10:34):
Apparently.

Speaker 2 (02:10:35):
Those that are unavailable would include Tim Settle, Kamari Lassitern,
and somebody named Jamal Hill kamor Lassener not out there.
That's a little bit more of a warning, says concern. Yeah,
this is concerning. We'll see, we'll get the injury report,
and then we'll get some more news on Friday. Last
news item in the news at one.

Speaker 3 (02:10:57):
Your Houston Rockets with a big victory, a huge, rousing victory.

Speaker 2 (02:11:01):
Let's play some highlights. Let me play two or three,
play some highlights? All right, man wants to hear his
own voice. Let's go Shngoon and Company with a two
point lead. He's got the basketball off a pass from
a men Thompson. Then Durant is gonna get a pass
from Alpi to the free throw line, bounce past to
Alpi left elbow, going against Reino.

Speaker 1 (02:11:19):
He'll turn right, spin left, turn right again.

Speaker 3 (02:11:21):
And drop it in for two.

Speaker 1 (02:11:23):
Alpbring Shinghu now with fourteen, just beautiful day.

Speaker 3 (02:11:32):
I know you could.

Speaker 1 (02:11:35):
Keep your hands above the waist too while you do it.

Speaker 2 (02:11:38):
All right, Roa scratch down there, Rockets get the one
to kind of hardest scratch.

Speaker 3 (02:11:43):
No what I'd like to apologize for that remark.

Speaker 1 (02:11:44):
That was rude.

Speaker 3 (02:11:46):
That's who you are, uncalled for. See, I'm gonna say,
you know what, I'm writing that down. People think that
ross is so sweet. That's exactly what kind of material
I get from mostage. It's even worse off air, isn't it?
All Right? Rockets get the one twenty one to ninety
five win over the Kings. You had Alpi Schengoon with
a great game. He had twenty eight points and ten rebounds.

(02:12:09):
How about Kevin Durant eight assists, no turnovers. That was
nice to see. Yep, I mean Tompson five turnovers and
only four three point attempts the whole team in the
second half yesterday.

Speaker 1 (02:12:18):
That was very well.

Speaker 2 (02:12:19):
When when they were running a layup line, I believe
on that King's defense, I don't know why you would
shoot they threes layup line. Sorry Sacramento fan listening to
it was like sixty four percent. I think they shot
from the field the second half something like that. So
they rallied, they got down, but they were able to
come back with a huge twenty six point win of
the Sacramento Kings, most importantly keeping pace in that Western Conference,

(02:12:42):
where they are in the number three spot right now,
in a virtual tie with the Spurs and Nuggets, and
a half game behind the Lakers in the two spot.
We already know who's in number one. We don't even
have to discuss.

Speaker 3 (02:12:52):
We'll play a little snippet of email coming up at
the bottom of the yar biscuit once talking about the
Olders Texans comp talk. Hmmm hm, maybe I'm on to
something or I'm on something. You never know.

Speaker 1 (02:13:02):
Plus Ross, we need a ruling on a college football
team trying to improve their resume by creating in a
game that's never been in uh, that's not even existing
right now. We'll talk about that in a minute.

Speaker 2 (02:13:12):
One fourteen Sports Talk seven ninety seven to one three
two one two five seven ninety seven to one three
two one two five seven.

Speaker 1 (02:13:19):
Ninety with now, I will go with y'all eat each
to morrow. But five, I need to nap.

Speaker 2 (02:13:24):
But I got a nap in No, you're gonna want
to nap after? Okay, real quick, two quick things. I
gotta mention Chris Paul. He's a blank talker and he
doesn't respect authoritie. Okay, there was an event where Chris
Paul pulled the team his teammates when he was with

(02:13:45):
the Clippers, still asking teammates to raise their hands if
they felt the Tyron Lows twenty sixteen Championship gave Lou
authority to speak out on the requisites of winning.

Speaker 3 (02:13:53):
No way, this is really no hands went up. I
don't tell this is real. So Tyrone Lu said, listen, bitch,
I got something for you.

Speaker 2 (02:14:05):
He asked players to raise their hand and they gave
a damn about Paul's farewell tour.

Speaker 1 (02:14:09):
Oh no, this is not real.

Speaker 3 (02:14:11):
No, you're not real. You're reading fake news. You're reading
fake newsta Oh, I know you got duped. For a second,
I was like, there's no way. Can I still read it?

Speaker 4 (02:14:24):
Though?

Speaker 3 (02:14:24):
Go ahead? This hi, this is fake news that Matt
is reading.

Speaker 1 (02:14:28):
It is not all.

Speaker 3 (02:14:29):
Screw it, forget it. I gotta do.

Speaker 1 (02:14:30):
I gotta block this ball sack. I got her, you
got ball set.

Speaker 3 (02:14:35):
Damn it. How could you fall for that? That was real?
There's no good story. Such a good story though. All right,
now I know there's I got a legit one for
you real quick. So Vanderbilt is trying to improve their resume,
they tried to schedule a thirteenth game this year.

Speaker 1 (02:14:51):
What they don't believe this either, This is coming from.

Speaker 3 (02:14:56):
A bullsack Tony. Yeah this probably no no no no
no no, no, no, no no no.

Speaker 2 (02:15:03):
This WSMB channel four, channel four on Nashville. Yeah, here
it is right here, see that channel four, WSMB Channel four.
Vanderbilt pushed for thirteenth game in the last minute fight
for college football playoff. First of all, nobody plays thirteen games.
The only time me you can play thirteen games, I thought,
is if you have to go to Hawaii to play
a game. Did Vanderbilt play a game in Hawaii this year?

Speaker 4 (02:15:30):
Not that I know.

Speaker 1 (02:15:31):
Here's the athletic director. We explored the thirteenth game option
for one reason. This team has earned the chance to
keep fighting.

Speaker 2 (02:15:36):
Coach League Bes said he's played any time anywhere, and
our guys would have stepped on the field with a
phone calls. Notice, the logistics and the legislative constraints didn't
make it possible, but nothing changes the truth. A ten
and two Vanderbilt team four forged in the nation's toughest conference,
finishing its best November and football deserves a chance to
be for the championship. Vanderbilt shut yo, bum ass up.

(02:15:57):
That is hilarious. Look you want to talk about Texas whining?
I mean that is what Vanderbilt. That is so Texas
of you to try to add an extra shohut up,
No it is not. It's Vanderbilt off. Then Texas didn't
do that. Now sorry, Keizy and is lobbying like he's
running for president God terrible. Just taking nine wins or
whatever you got and go. He's on like good Morning America.

(02:16:17):
He's on Wake up. First take, next, take, last take.

Speaker 3 (02:16:20):
So nobody's listened to my take, Biscuit on seven ninety biscuit?

Speaker 1 (02:16:25):
What you got?

Speaker 4 (02:16:27):
What's happening? My brothers, what's happening?

Speaker 3 (02:16:30):
Tell us?

Speaker 1 (02:16:30):
Go ahead?

Speaker 13 (02:16:31):
Hey first, hey, Ross, I will tell you that sixty six.

Speaker 1 (02:16:35):
Was a great year man. That was you know, I
heard you say something about your music youth.

Speaker 3 (02:16:40):
You would have been in the sixty six. That was
a great year.

Speaker 5 (02:16:42):
Man.

Speaker 1 (02:16:43):
Wait, I did the wrong, I did the math wrong.
That would be fifty six. Right, Oh okay, came I
can't out No, I can't count you no, I said
sixty six. Yeah, I'm a great year.

Speaker 13 (02:16:58):
Now let me uh, let me say you to you, Matt,
I think that the if the Texas were to get
into the playoffs, and it's a big gift, but if
they were to get in there, I think it'd be
totally different if they ran the table than the team
in ninety four. First of all, the team in ninety
four was totally in turnoil in the locker room and

(02:17:19):
what had You got coaches throwing fist on the sidelines,
and you know they were winning, but you know it
was chaos going on. This team is way more connected.

Speaker 2 (02:17:29):
You know, you don't know a hand's hand on everything.
She could be really grumpy behind the scenes.

Speaker 3 (02:17:32):
You don't know that.

Speaker 1 (02:17:33):
Maybe she's gotta Socknick Cassario in the throat, right.

Speaker 13 (02:17:37):
And then also we don't hear them no fire offen
the coordinator talk too much anymore.

Speaker 1 (02:17:42):
Dude.

Speaker 13 (02:17:42):
What happened to that group? They wanted Chip Kelly in here?

Speaker 8 (02:17:45):
Well, how you going right now?

Speaker 1 (02:17:47):
Kelly?

Speaker 3 (02:17:48):
He's on the beach right right?

Speaker 13 (02:17:50):
And it was the Cash brothers, Matt, That's what it was.

Speaker 1 (02:17:53):
Yeah, I knew it was a Texas twins.

Speaker 4 (02:17:55):
I knew that.

Speaker 13 (02:17:56):
Yeah, yeah, man, man, But those games I was at
both of those games than the Dome.

Speaker 3 (02:18:00):
Man.

Speaker 13 (02:18:02):
I think so I had a cousin at the time
that played for the Chiefs, and I think the fact
that the Oilers beat them thirty to nothing early in
the year, I think they kind of underestimated the Chiefs,
even though you know they had Montana and what have you.
But they just blew them out. So they kind of
came in, didn't. I wouldn't say take them lightly, but
they they wasn't on their p's and q's, and you know,

(02:18:25):
got beat at the end. But I just think, man,
the way the team is playing right now, with the
defense and CJ and off of the line improvements, I
think the Texas man they get in the playoffs and
with the lack of a really front running the airc
this year, I think they can run the table.

Speaker 4 (02:18:44):
Man.

Speaker 1 (02:18:44):
It is you know what it is.

Speaker 2 (02:18:45):
It's thank you for the phone call. Biscuit is completely
wide open. There's just one problem. You still got to
get in. And I think ten gets in.

Speaker 3 (02:18:52):
Nine is not.

Speaker 2 (02:18:54):
Ten should get you in. It's just going to be
how crazy what the time breakers are going to be.
You were on the table, you're definitely in. If you
get to ten. I think you're in. I always felt
like you were definitively in. But it depends on who
you lose to. Frankly, one, ten and seventeen did not
make it last year. Oooh okay, and that was in
the NFC. But I mean points stands. Ten and seven

(02:19:16):
teams can't get left out. It literally happened last year.

Speaker 1 (02:19:18):
I think it's better.

Speaker 3 (02:19:19):
There's a better chance of a bunch of ten and
seven teams all in the same division, being the AFC South.
It was the Seahawks.

Speaker 2 (02:19:26):
Now, if there's a three way tie between the Colts, Jaguars,
and Texans, I think, my guess, the Texans would win
the AFC South. I think because they would have two
Colts wins. You would presume, yes, two Tennessee wins, four
and they've beaten Jacksonville once.

Speaker 3 (02:19:38):
It's five.

Speaker 1 (02:19:39):
That's five and one against the other to I mean
the Jags that have to have swept the Colts. Yeah,
all right, let's go.

Speaker 3 (02:19:45):
It happened.

Speaker 1 (02:19:46):
Let's go to Scott on seven uety Scott at one
twenty seven Scott, Good afternoon, what's going on?

Speaker 4 (02:19:52):
Good afternoon.

Speaker 18 (02:19:53):
I wanted to give some praise to Matt.

Speaker 1 (02:19:55):
I'll take it I'll take it. I get so much
I get so much heat.

Speaker 3 (02:19:59):
On the show, right.

Speaker 18 (02:20:02):
I listened to your play call in a few games
this year, and I'm gonna put you on a pedestal
with a late great Houston commentary, and that's Milo Hamilton.

Speaker 3 (02:20:13):
Well, thank you.

Speaker 4 (02:20:13):
You are in that range. Thank you in that range.

Speaker 18 (02:20:16):
Brother, Keep doing what you're doing, and please don't move
and call for another team.

Speaker 2 (02:20:20):
Thank you, Scott. I'm not going anywhere with Scott, thank
you very much. I am dying on the mine. The
Rockets will be my last team in this radio station,
will be my last radio station, and hopefully that both
are ten to fifteen years still ahead.

Speaker 3 (02:20:33):
You're doing a great job, Matt, I hope. So that's
Russa smiling right now? Why why can I smile? I'm
at that guy complimented man, I said he does a
great job.

Speaker 1 (02:20:42):
Mappening.

Speaker 3 (02:20:42):
I got you, man, I got you mad? What did
I do?

Speaker 5 (02:20:46):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (02:20:46):
What did you do while you were all that was happening?

Speaker 2 (02:20:49):
I was looking at they since they've gone to seventeen games,
there's the act. The Seahawks last year are the only
ten and seventeen to not make the playoffs. Really, yeah,
and then one year that they were under five hundred
and made the playoffs and beat the Saints in Seattle.
So I mean, but the it's it's looking like that
in this AFC right now, that it could be another

(02:21:09):
ten and seven team left.

Speaker 3 (02:21:11):
Out because you got you got the Chargers could be
ten and seven. You've got the Jags could be ten
and seven, the Colts could be ten and seven, the
Texans could be ten and seven. I don't think Pittsburgh
could be ten and seven. I don't imagine Baltimore being
ten and seven.

Speaker 2 (02:21:22):
So when you end up with the reason, you can
end up with so many ten and seven teams because
the bottom is so bad. Titans, Raiders, Browns, Jets are
so horrible. All these other teams are piling up wins
in the conference. H yeah, let's go to Greg on
seven eight one twenty eight high.

Speaker 4 (02:21:38):
Greg.

Speaker 7 (02:21:40):
Hello, I just wanted to just let you know, you know,
I won't be buying Sports Sitting Network because I really
don't need to see the A team on you know,
my team.

Speaker 1 (02:21:52):
But they're so handsome. Why would you not want to
see the eight team? They're such handsome, rooting, gentleman programming
right there?

Speaker 7 (02:21:58):
Well, well, you know, you know whatever. But and also
I just listened to seven ninety for baseball and basketball.

Speaker 3 (02:22:07):
Thank you is off?

Speaker 1 (02:22:09):
Oh Greg, you are my best friend for you know.

Speaker 3 (02:22:12):
I need more of this. We should thank you Greg
for the funk. We should dedicate a half hour every
week of just praise of me. I think we should. No,
I would say six hours because it feels like they
are twenty one and a half or twenty nineteen and
a half or rip the crap out of you.

Speaker 1 (02:22:25):
That's not true. Who ripped you? I ripped daily? What
did I rip everything?

Speaker 3 (02:22:30):
Nothing? Food takes, it takes, Okay, those takes. It's different.
I'm not ripping your play by play acumen.

Speaker 2 (02:22:38):
All right, thank you very much, real quick before we
get to em Adoka Dave on seven ninety at one
thirty high Dave.

Speaker 14 (02:22:44):
Hello, Matt, you're doing a great job with Thank.

Speaker 3 (02:22:48):
You very much. I appreciate that.

Speaker 2 (02:22:49):
This is I need more of this. Let's get only
people that like me calling you. If you hate me,
just block me on Twitter like many others have.

Speaker 1 (02:22:57):
What's up, bra Hi?

Speaker 3 (02:22:59):
How's it going, Dave?

Speaker 7 (02:23:01):
Going good?

Speaker 14 (02:23:02):
Going good? Someone said I listened to you guys every day,
and someone said ten ten wins would get the use
in Texans them. That was me, I don't, that was you, Matt. Okay,
maybe if there is a three way tie in the
AFC South between the Texans Titans and I'm not I'm

(02:23:23):
not not Titans, scratch that, Texans, Jaguars, and Colts at
three way tie in that division, then the Texans can
count their tickets to the playoffs. But I still think
they got to beat Kansas City in order to accomplish that.

Speaker 4 (02:23:42):
Or what do you think?

Speaker 14 (02:23:43):
What do you guys think about that?

Speaker 1 (02:23:44):
Because what I think what you're saying, and it makes
some sense. You need every time breaker, and you possibly
can if it's a meddle mess at ten and seven,
and frankly, to be honest, beating Arizona is not nearly
as important as beating Kansas City, I think, is what
he's trying to say.

Speaker 3 (02:23:57):
And I agree with him on that.

Speaker 1 (02:23:58):
Well, yeah, if you can pick one to win, and
you'd pick Kansas City. But when I want to both.

Speaker 3 (02:24:04):
Look at line one. You see what line one's there?
Praise for Matt Thunderbears. Wait a minute, wow, see you
look at this, Matt.

Speaker 11 (02:24:11):
You know we need to.

Speaker 2 (02:24:12):
Record this for you I have never received praise for
my Thunderbears played by a play. I'm about to get
it right now, Rick, good afternoon.

Speaker 4 (02:24:21):
Hey.

Speaker 8 (02:24:22):
I just want to say, you know that call you made,
you know, Clint Dozel dropping back yes before touchdowns a
football game?

Speaker 3 (02:24:29):
Your ever, thank you, thank you so much. The Thunderbears
was the deal.

Speaker 2 (02:24:35):
Thunner Bears for life, Thank you very much. Can I
tell you very quick Thunderbears star Texas terror guy. So
Greg Cook and I are in des mor in Iowa,
and we are calling a game and we are literally
on top of the field.

Speaker 3 (02:24:47):
There's a fan.

Speaker 1 (02:24:48):
There's two guys behind behind us.

Speaker 2 (02:24:52):
I think I've told her before, and they're just yelling
and berating the Thunderbars, making fun of the team name,
making fun of it. And this is a close game.
This is I think Kurt Warner was at Iowa bar
Strom at the time. Is how far back it is.
And Greg, as a fiery personality, as you would know,
ross during a time out, he takes his headset off
and he puts it down on the table right next
to me, and he turns around and tells those guys,

(02:25:13):
if I hear one more word out of either one
of you. I'm going to turn around, I'm going to
beat both your asses to a pulp. He was so
matter of fact about it. It was amazing. And we
didn't hear a word from them the rest of the day.
That's great, God bless Greg Cook. Still with us, Yes,
still still listening. Okay, So they were Were you with

(02:25:36):
them when they were the Texas Terror the first couple
of years? Yes, I couldn't remember if they went from
the tear to the Thunderbears the Thunderbears they went thunderbears.
I mean, those are both bad names. They did a
they did a a focus group, and they said that
people were afraid of the name, which I'm like, what terror? Yeah, scared.

Speaker 3 (02:25:50):
I don't want to go to the terror. So they
went they went to the other direction. They went with
a scary bear, a thunderbear. The hell is a thunderbear?

Speaker 3 (02:31:04):
You are not tradable. I don't care whatbody says. In
my mind and the minds of good smart Rocket Dad.
Don't don't even come in Emai Doka. We caught up
with him earlier today. We'll play a couple minutes.

Speaker 2 (02:31:18):
I don't much because we've got to get to believe
it or not here, but we asked him about did
he really tell the boys they were acting like a
junior varsity team at halftime of the game last night
against the.

Speaker 4 (02:31:25):
Kings last night, I said, stop playing like one, looking
like one, take care of the ball, to play with
them forth and something like that.

Speaker 3 (02:31:39):
You're just the best man. I'm gonna tell you that
right now, And I'm not trying to blow smoke. I'm
just telling you. Go in there, and they obviously listened
to you. That is what did you get the bluntness
of your life? And I certainly appreciate it because I'm
a very blunt person myself.

Speaker 4 (02:31:52):
I just always liked honestly myself. You know, don't want
the coach or anybody you know, kind of blowing smoking.
So them and you're direct with them and don't sugarcoat it.
They can tell us you're be a thinger lying anyway,
so might as we'll hit them direct. And I think
guys respect that approach.

Speaker 3 (02:32:08):
You certainly did that.

Speaker 2 (02:32:09):
Not only did they cut the turnovers down, you put
it together an amazing third quarter and the three point
shot was not a huge part of the team in
the second half. Were you surprised by that or is
that kind of what Sacramento dictated because they gave you
so many opportunities in the paint.

Speaker 4 (02:32:24):
No, we just take what the gang gives us. I think,
you know, we'll shoot them if they're available. But a
lot of times they were bringing their big up in
the pick and roll to take away some of our
walking threes. When we hit out bringing guys in the pocket,
they stayed locked up on some of our shooters, which
allowed us to get downhill and get to the paint.
And obviously, if we're gonna get all those paint points
seventy eight and you don't need to take a ton

(02:32:46):
of three as we won't.

Speaker 2 (02:32:48):
The I'll be to a men Thompson combination was working.
Vice versa was working as well. Have you noticed even
a better chemistry with those guys since they first step
to get on the same floor, because it feels like
they have a real good sense of knowing where each
other's at.

Speaker 4 (02:33:03):
Yeah, definitely, I think the time spent together over the
last few years has really paid off. You know, Amn
was the guy that handled a bunch, but now we
have him in the dunker spot, we have him in
the corner slashing and you know, playing in the pick
and roll at times, so Alpie is always looking for him.
A lot of teams back to paint, not just with
the big but bring the low man across. And our
men is great at slashing behind, defining his rhythm and

(02:33:25):
obviously he's a lot threat there, so being the great
pass it is constantly looking for him.

Speaker 2 (02:33:30):
Reed Shepherd didn't get the start yesterday, but he did
play twenty eight minutes, So what factors into your decisions
about the rotation starting guys, And I mean he's still
getting his minutes even though he wasn't starting in a
line in the starting lineup.

Speaker 4 (02:33:44):
Yeah, a lot to do to the personnel with the
other team. We like balance as well for our team,
so you know, I have some really good scores that
we wanted, you know, Josh and him in the guard,
Levine and and derosing and for the most part he
did a great job on them in general twelve points
and only two for Lavin, and so went with the
more defensive minded rotation, but also balanced as well. You know,

(02:34:07):
we have a lot of our really good scores in
the starting lineup and reads punch off the bench has
been good for us most of the season.

Speaker 2 (02:34:13):
Rocket Tech coach imy Doka with us here on at
Sports Talk seven ninety. I have a more philosophical question
for you because I noticed last night Russell Wilson, Russell Westbrook,
I should say, made the first couple of threes. Percentages
are up this year for him, but you guys were
still backing off of him. What goes into that decision
making as far as gaining enough sample size to maybe

(02:34:37):
change your stripes when it comes to any player, as
far as getting a hotthand or coming into the game
if percentages are up relative to their career.

Speaker 4 (02:34:46):
Yeah, I mean it's game plan wise and what teams
like to do. They're a team that likes to get
the paint and he's really good at that obviously, so
you want to keep him away from the basket as
much as possible. And you know, so it's funny at
times you encourage guys shoot and hope they make their
first one or two, and they'll keep shooting a lot
of times and the percentage usually catch up. And so,
like I said, we did a really good job on Murray,

(02:35:09):
you know, two for eleven for five points, DeRozan only twelve,
and Levine too, will live with some of the others
making and taking some tough shots, and he hit his
first two, but it went oh for five after that
as well as the kid right now made two threes,
but it had twenty five points. But if he's scoring
twenty five and the others are held to single digits,
we'll take that trade off every day.

Speaker 3 (02:35:29):
You know, you've had a lot of nice stretches, were
a couple off days in between. We've had a busy
stretch of games. Now we've got a busy stretch coming
up before the next weekend and a long road trip.

Speaker 2 (02:35:39):
Have you had to alter in terms of practices, workouts,
guys you know, wanting to get their shots up and
still get some downtime away because the schedule is about
to pick up a little bit and here in the
next few weeks.

Speaker 4 (02:35:51):
Yeah, we definitely have. We got a good three day
break after the Golden State game, and so we took
a good amount of time off. No, we had a
back to back against Utah. Come out of it. You know,
time change is coming back home for Thanksgiving and going
back out west.

Speaker 2 (02:36:09):
All right, Well, email was no longer ready to speak
to us. Hashtag editing system. All right, full conversation available.

go to that West Sports sent any website. You'll see
a couple of stories up there'll be of interest to you. Okay,
we should probably we should probably podcast a half hour
as great calls about people who love me. O. We
should actually I want to actually have that recorded and

(02:36:29):
just play on a loop for you.

Speaker 1 (02:36:30):
I'd mean that's great Christ's programming.

Speaker 3 (02:36:33):
I think so too.

Speaker 1 (02:36:34):
We best of we'll just run those five minutes for
four hours straight through.

Speaker 2 (02:36:37):
I think we should. Let's play Believe or Not. You're ready,
it's dead or alive. We're as you've not seen these,
so you're gonna to ask you first for your editorial system. Yeah,
it's like some tertiary character from some sitcom I never watched,
but we'll see.

Speaker 3 (02:36:47):
These are all famous people, Okay, I mean in my mind, man, Yeah,
get seven one three, two, one two, five seven ninety
Alive or dead, Believe it or not?

Speaker 2 (02:36:55):
Next one four on Sports Talk seven ninety. We're gonna
check in with Kansas City tomorrow. Store on Petro's gonna
be with us for a few minutes on the program. Yeah,
you used to be on that show a lot. Yeah,
they stopped calling me. That's fine, they can't call me in.
I'm like, I'm always busy. I say, called Ross. They're like, nah,
that's fine, Okay, they lost my number. Well I told

(02:37:17):
him no a couple of times in a round because
I was busy. I was on vacation or whatever. So yeah,
that got me off the they got me on the
S list. Maybe that's fine.

Speaker 1 (02:37:23):
Yeah, So we'll check in with Kansas City tomorrow and
we will have doctor Rotro with us. We'll have our
non Florida stories. Yes, I'm looking forward. We got like
two weeks where of the clips?

Speaker 3 (02:37:34):
Oh my god.

Speaker 1 (02:37:34):
Yeah, we've got some clips. Remember, So how's it looking
over there?

Speaker 3 (02:37:38):
It looks good. I've gotta go. I want to I
like to pick out the very best ones. And now
remember we got to save Ross is gonna be gone
for seven days in the next few weeks.

Speaker 2 (02:37:48):
All right, uh seven week days. I'll be gone for
more than the days than that when you can't weekend.
This handball game is pretty interesting. Yeah, netl, I'm I'm
kicking a we blind picked. I got you took to Nie.

Speaker 1 (02:38:00):
Yeah, I do.

Speaker 2 (02:38:00):
The home team they're down twelve five. Well it's in Europe.
It might be the home team might be the first one.
That's how they do soccer. The girls are healthy, which
doesn't that make sense? Like the home team is the
zone by the way, Yeah, they're running a two three zone. No,
it's like a five to one zone right box and one.

Speaker 3 (02:38:17):
I can do some play.

Speaker 2 (02:38:18):
I play this handball, go ahead, Mildred over to Denise. Denise, Oh,
drop the court and he's gonna.

Speaker 3 (02:38:23):
Go pick it up. And I think you only get
one dribble or something. It's very confusing. And when they
turn over, they just drop the ball. Now there's no
officials on the court everywhere anywhere?

Speaker 7 (02:38:30):
Is there?

Speaker 14 (02:38:31):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (02:38:31):
There is, there's one.

Speaker 1 (02:38:32):
Okay, five minutes up to go. In the show, what
should we do? We should Playmerica's fastest growing sports radio
game show. We simply called it be Believe It or Not.
And here's how it works.

Speaker 2 (02:38:45):
Now, when Ross does are rotten five, I like to
help them out a little bit and do believe it
or not? So my tried and true formula is, is
this person alive or dead? I will ask Ross first,
Then I will ask you let me close my laptop,
turn my phone off? All right, I will ask Ross verse.
Then you he's gonna give you some editorial assistance. If
I give you a person, and this person's alive, you'll

(02:39:06):
say this, believe it. If this person is dead, you'll
say this to believe it or Not's in a row,
win you apprize, and we are playing for today a
variety of nights gifts.

Speaker 1 (02:39:14):
One would be a seven unty t shirt.

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
