season against the Brooklyn Nets. He will be out today
and Thursday as it is the start of NBA season, folks,

missing some days here and there. But the Rockets getting
the win last night, so that is good news. In
his stead, we will have Adam Clanton hanging out in
the one o'clock hour, and I convinced him to hang
out for a little bit longer.

hurricanes in Atlantic.

Okay, well, uh, prayers out to our good friends in
Jamaica because it does not look like a good situation.
And this, this is just depressing me. I mean that

it look so menacing when it's just a cloud formation?

We're on a first take. Well, actually, I do want
to talk about that. Of course, I know you didn't
catch much of it. How much did you catch Gordy
before you knotted off?

I fell asleep in extra inning, so it was like
the tenth or eleventh, and I woke up around twelve forty.

And could not believe that that game was still going on.

Still going on. It went on to like two a am.
I was okay. Normally I'm like a night out anyways,
I'll be honest with you, folks. I usually fall asleep
between like midnight and one depending, but sometimes I'll stay
up a little bit later if I can't sleep. But
I just I was too invested. I watched that entire
I watched the entire game. It was got over like
two am. I get to the point nobody scoring just end.

I don't even like Oh, don't get me wrong, I
hate the Dodgers and I want him to lose. But
every time the Blue Jays got three outs, I was like,
all right, whatever, just in this this something. And then
finally Fredie Freeman walked it off in the eighteenth inning,
eighteen innings, eighteen innings. I mean, and you enjoyed that.
I'm not gonna say I enjoyed it. I just like

I said, I was like pot committed. I'm like, I
can't miss some crazy walkoff moment and I can't go
to bed.

I don't know why.

And then there was a couple of almost walk off
home runs.

It did make me laugh. To Dodgers fans were like.

Oh yeah, every the morning track, Tom Barshaw camping under it.
He's pitched a tint, he's got a fire building, he's
hanging out. It's a can of corn. Shut obamass up,
Dodgers fans.

But Otani homered in the seventh and we had to
then go eleven innings before it.

With double homer, double homer, and got intentionally walked four times.

Well, he walked five times in the game.

And then he walked again when they finally pitched to him.
It was really an unintentional, intentional walk. They pitched around him.
He he he did not see a strike in that
at bat. I don't believe. I think it was four
straight balls. So yeah, it it was insane, and folks,
we're gonna have to have a serious conversation at some
point this day, Like, I understand we hate the Dodgers,

but Shoho Tani is an absolute force of nature. I mean,
I mean people are arguing, I mean, and I'm listening
to the argument already arguing like the greatest athlete in
the history of American sports except for this dude, Victor
winbin Yama, who's with the San Antonio Spurs.

And we hate the San Antonio Spur.

So I actually, at some point on the show, I
do want to have a discussion with folks, like how
much can we like appreciate this greatness that we're seeing,
but but how much do we have to hate them
and not accept how good they are because they play
with the Doge and the Spurs two different sports, two
different forces of nature, and two different basically. I mean,
at least Victor women Yama has got a ways to go.

But as far as talent, one of the all time
greats and Shoe Tani already one of the all time.

Shoyotani wasted one, two, three, four, five, six years with
the Los Angeles Angels. Yeah, no playoffs in two seasons
and with the Dodgers two postseason runs. He has twenty
six career walks already. Oh my god, a few more

Many Ramirez tied for the most postseason walks ever with
seventy two. Well show he's at twenty six in two
postseasons so far.

best time of year if you're just a sports fan,

get an extra TV. I think he watches in his
office or something like that, because he's always like, which, hey,
would you have what were you doing? Were you flipping around?

So yeah, so on Saturday I had three TVs. Yes,

Yeah, you can find cheap throway TVs or your old TV's, like,
you don't have to have a bunch of four ko
put an antenna on it.

Baseball oftentimes, like we're talking about, how fifty games isn't

trap that we fall into, how everybody's the worst and

He's been playing with confidence. You can tell that that

has been certainly something that is being coached into him
and talked about from last year where he definitely just
looked a little pensive, look like he was maybe scared
to make a mistake, not necessarily having full confidence in
his abilities. He's getting to the basket, he's putting up shots.
They haven't been going down consistently yet, but that was
an encouraging performance from.

Yeah, I mean he's looking like getting a little bit

he does. Don't act like surprise. Yeah, So the three
point shooting so far.

Of course, we're dealing with very small sample sizes right
now with this season. We're three games in thirty five
percent from excuse me, forty four percent from three so
far early on in the season, but only twenty seven
percent from the field. But how about a men Thompson
and Reed Shepherd combining for sixteen assists and only two turnovers.
So that was good to see as well for a men.

And you did what you need to do against the
Brooklyn Nets. You got to blow out. You were able
to not have to play your starters very much and
men Thompson only played twenty five minutes, Barsmith Junior only
played twenty four and Durant only played twenty five minutes.
And you got some work for some guys who needed it,
like Tarry Easton, like Reed Shepherd, You got Jayshaun Tate
into the game, like Aaron Holliday got some minutes. Overall,

very good performance and exactly what you wanted to see
from the Rockets against a lessonstellar competition. I mean, look,
let's be honest, it was like a preseason game last night,
and everybody got their work in.

So it's still at the end of the day.

Speaker 3 (16:53):
I was pretty happy to what we saw from reed Sheppard,
especially with the assistant turnover ratio. Combining that with the
men Thompson and Encourage early on one and two. Both
games could have gone either way to start the season,
and then you got the easy victory against the Nets.

Durant twenty five. I mean, I know most people played.
I mean, Chin Gun played thirty a Kokie played thirty one.
Durant at twenty five. Is that just situation of where
the score was or are they gonna maybe kind of
like you see those minutes in some of these kind
of games be twenty two to twenty three.

H Yeah, Men, Tomson only played twenty five. I think
if they'd needed him, they would have played more. They're
gonna be very I think they're gonna be very conscious
of it. I'm gonna tell you, I don't think it's
an accident. Yeah, but it's just kind of a I
don't know. I thought initially.

When they signed him, I thought it was gonna be
a little bit of okay, some rests, some I mean
probably back to backs.

Yeah, we'll see. So far, he's playing all three games.

We asked him when we had him at Rockets Media
Day and he said, my plan is to play all
eighty two and play all forty eight minutes. Obviously that's
not gonna happen, but we'll see. That's how he's preparing
for the season. But I'm gonna guess he's not gonna
play back to backs, but I'm not sure. I think
it'll be a situation dependent maybe as well. Yeah, depending
on where they are in the standings and how things

go later on in the season. So yeah, it's gonna
be an interesting situation to be sure, to kind of
see how it plays out. But they haven't had a
back to back yet, and well, god, they don't have one,
I don't think for a couple of weeks. I was
looking at the schedule last night. They they've been actually
having a pretty easy go of You've had too you
play played on Tuesday, a couple of days off, and
they had Saturday Sunday off.

It's it's the weekend before Christmas.

They are, ok They're Thursday in New Orleans off, Friday,
Saturday in Denver, Sunday in Sacramento.

And they might have some NBA Cup games mixed in

what happens. But yeah, the NBA has been conscious of
not having as many back to backs, so that's good,
especially when you have an older star like Kevin Durant.

Florida State, LSU. There are like ten to fifteen programs
who say, if we're not winning championships, we're failing. Well,

only one team can win the championship every year. I mean,

these programs who are disappointed and you have a team
like Penn State that made the semi final and then
now literally six games later, they're they're firing their coach.

But let's back it up a little because James Frankel
was given how many years there at at Penn State.
But do you think a lot of really good seasons, Yes,
a lot of ten to eleven win seasons, but go
look up his record against like top ten teams.

could never win the big game. It wasn't great for sure.
And he had he had flet's see one, two, three,
five top ten finishes, okay at Penn State.

But eventually you got to get over the hump.

was doing a pretty good job overall. It couldn't have
been better, especially in bigger games. Absolutely, But how many
times when he did lose those big games against Ohio

three teams said you need to be winning every three years.

And that's where I put LSU, That's where I put Texas.

with you. They think they're in Tier one. I know

I'd put Florida in that tier with the LSUS of
like once every four to five years. They're not going

those people and you go seven and five next year,

let's rebuild. We're rebuilding for that next year. But for

By year four, this was his most talented team. This
was supposed to be the team that could make a
championship run. Now again with the twelve team playoff, nobody
was saying win a championship. They were saying, make a

was pretty happy to what we saw from Reed Sheppard,

with al Prin Shangoon as the screener. I think that
is something that they can build chemistry on and bear

a lot of fruit because a lot of times the
Rockets are being trapped because they don't have elite ball handling.
Ben Thompson good ball handler, not elite. Kevin Durant, Alp
Prinching Goon good ball handlers, but not elite. Those guys
can be prone to turnovers here and there, so they
are getting trapped a lot. They are getting blitzed on
these pick and rolls, and it's been kind of effective

against him. That's something they're gonna have to figure out.
And he made Doka was talking about that, I think
in the postgame the last couple of games, and maybe
even pregame yesterday, like, yeah, guys are gonna get up
on Kevin Durant and others and they're gonna dare them

these guys who sometimes you know, dribbling the ball at
their feet losing the handle. How often can you recall

seeing like alprin Shangoon going for a dribble and he
just dribbles it off his foot or he loses it

of times he can pull it off, and he's very
