So the Western Conference first round series between your beloved
Houston Rockets and the hated, I mean hated Golden State Warriors.
It isn't anything goes Friday here on the radio program,
which means, well, you know, Ross does a talking about
(03:36):
this for fifteen years now.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
Ross explained the essence of it, anything goes Friday. Yes, Matthew,

That's good.
Speaker 5 (04:19):
I'm proud of you.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
Full four.
Speaker 10 (04:22):
Can you be all right?
Speaker 3 (04:23):
I can't control the Rockets travel schedule. I mean I
would like to calling man say can we wait till
two thirty to leave. But then don't just typically listen
to me.
Speaker 5 (04:30):
We'll get you some electrolytes in that third hour. I
know you're gonna be tired.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
Oh stop, I gotta pace myself. Ross, I got a
playoff game to call, Tonime.
Speaker 5 (04:37):
I know you were like two and a half days
this week. I'm proud of you.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Oh my god, oh my god. You know what, when
I work four or five Saturdays in the next two months,
when you're sitting there relaxing at the jazz labl, it'd
be like, what are you doing?
Speaker 1 (04:48):
Ross?
Speaker 3 (04:49):
All right, listen to some great jazz like I'm working
Astros versus a Saturday back off buster.
Speaker 5 (04:55):
Well, that day is not here yet, Matt.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
I know, hopefully it's not for a while.
Speaker 5 (05:00):
Well, we'll see. All right, I must win Friday night.
Let's go.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
It is an absolute must win Friday Night. I did
put a poll question up on the Twitter account at
plus emptu. I said, mind, very simply, who you got
in game six? One hundred and twenty eight votes are
in in the last thirty six minutes. I have thirty
one eight hundred followers, so I would assume i'd get
thirty one eight hundred votes.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
But I know, now it's a lot there, bots, porn bots, scammers.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Correct princes, Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, all these people. Also,
these these young kids are the class of twenty twenty eight.
They are five to six athletes on my brut Yeah,
if you're five six, you're not playing college four. I'm sorry,
I got terrible news for you.
Speaker 11 (05:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:42):
So one hundred and twenty eight votes are in sixty
eight percent Rockets thirty two percent Warriors.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
That's lower than your last couple of polls. Correct, it
is the lowest of the last three.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
That would be fairly accurate. And thanks for bringing that up.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
I mean it is on the road and you're in there.
Hey yeah, they're in their house, their backs against the wall.
They got a little bit of rest. Treymond Green didn't
see much action in the second half.
Speaker 5 (06:09):
He's rested.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
Nope, I will say I did watch the morning sports
shows because man, I mean, I just I'm sorry, I'm guilty.
You want you want to.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
Watch Mike Greenberg set a record for how many times
he can blink in a minute.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
No, I don't watch my green does he blink so much?
He's my most annoying Meridia person. I mean, I would
take Steve and A Smith over my Greenberg. He just
he drives me. He's so pretentious. I justugh.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
I'm sure he's a wonderful huan being, and I'm totally
mischaracterizing him.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
I apologize. But if I want Jets conversation, I go
to ESPN. You know I don't. I don't need that.
So my point is this, They've had Jason Williams on,
They've had some other people on. I went looked at
some Twitter accounts, Zach Low, Hudson, people on his thing today.
I feel like American media now that grand their their
(06:58):
their opinion means no more than any of you listen
to the show right now or for that matter, Ross
and myself. But most American sports media had the Warriors
winning this game tonight.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
They are five and a half point favorites. Give me
the Rockets plus five and a half.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
It bumped, it went from five and a half to
four and a half, then it bumped back up to
five recks. Uh, okay, that's that's a Vegas how's everything?
Speaker 9 (07:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (07:22):
Yeah, Rockets were minus three and a half on Wednesday.
They won by sixteen, Yeah, or fifteen.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
And the number one thing The storyline that I'm hearing
about is it's gonna be Jimmy Butler's night that he
that Steph's thumb whatever hand is not one hundred percent.
He's gonna score because he was born to score, woke
up scoring. But if Jimmy Butler can take over the
game in the mid range, especially get to the basket,
get to the free throw on like he did twelve
(07:51):
times in game number four, the Rockets will have a
hard time beating that. And we will discuss that with
Emai a Doka when he joined us today too.
Speaker 5 (08:00):
The coach at win Matt, Sorry, I stein, I screamed
over it.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
Twelve fifteen, twelve fifteen, twelve fifteen Central time, Well no, it's.
Speaker 3 (08:09):
Twelve to fifteen Hawaiian time. Ross come away talking about
I don't know. I'm just making sure. I mean, I'm
the one of the screwy times.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
Yeah, that's why I'm just making sure. Twelve fifteen Houston Time,
your head coach of your Houston Rockets coaching game six
tonight on this show.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
Wow, Yeah, I mean a huge must win game six.
Oh So if you want to put your vote in,
go to at sports empty on Twitter. Follow me by
the way good things will happen to your blood pressure
will go down, your four oh one K will resume
its high number, and you'd be like to my more people.
I mean, it really is no negative in following me
on Twitter at sports empt so.
Speaker 12 (08:45):
Well.
Speaker 5 (08:45):
I have a response to that Jimmy Butler thing. He
looks gassed.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
The hip injury I think is limiting him severely, and
it's going to be another every other night game. Now
we're talking what fourth game in seven days now Ross Saturday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday.
Oh yeah, it was a strange series. You had the
two days off in between each one of the first two.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
Games, and then you went boom boom boom, boom boom
after that. It's weird.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
And the Warriors have looked progressively more sluggish as every
other day games have been happening. So, I mean, I
don't think I don't see the openings. I don't see
I mean, I actually last night rewatched both games four
and five, and I don't see Jimmy Butler getting open.
I don't see him getting those free runs at the basket.
He can make some moves here and there, but I
mean he's been extremely limited as far as his mobility.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
Yeah, all right, I'm gonna give you one thing, and
you can write this down. You can tell your friends,
you can tell your neighbors. If the Rockets win this tonight,
they're winning Game seven. I'm with you.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
Hey, you're stealing my thunder.
Speaker 5 (09:45):
I said that yesterday.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
I apologize.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
Come on, man, gosh, I mean I'm used to you
running over and stealing my bits. But man, okay, blood
freaking go. Yeah, put your name on it. I'm putting
my name on it. You heard me.
Speaker 3 (10:03):
If the Rockets.
Speaker 5 (10:04):
Wind tonight, it's a coin flip game. Will make a
prediction later. If the Rockets win tonight, they're winning Game seven.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
But tonight it's the biggest hurdle. Absolutely, Tonight is the
biggest hurdle. That to me means ross. That means hitting
free throws. That means non silly turnovers. Not it'd be
a turnover free game is ridiculous. It just doesn't happen.
Doesn't mean that.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
I think you need to reiterate. I think the thing
you said for one needs to be one, two and three.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
Yeah, hitting free throws now again, you would like to
hit all of them. M hmm, but that's not practical.
I mean this is a team that, again, even if
they hit at their season average, which was a low
seventy four percent compared to everybody else, I can.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
Live with that.
Speaker 5 (10:47):
There's still below that.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
Even though they went eighty four percent or whatever on
what they're still at sixty nine percent for the series,
So they can still some regression can still happen. They
can make them free throws tonight right.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
Need to be aborted under most circumstances. And Rossie and
Jalen is fine than he is, Okay, nothing to worry
about ross He's got to step up. You just don't
want to play with fools gold here if he's scoring
in low numbers for a second consecutive and try to
win it.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
Yeah. I think the last couple of games you've gotten
huge help by what Fred van Vliet has done with
with Jalen Green not doing much of anything offensively, it's
been kind of shorn up by what Fred van Vliet
has done offensively.
Speaker 5 (11:33):
And Amn Thompson.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
Now I think I can kind of bank on him
in Thompson scoring because he's so aggressive and he's been
getting downhill and all that type of stuff. I honestly
cannot bank on Fred van Vliet having another hot shooting night.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
It would be probably out of the ordinary for Fred
to hit as many threes in three straight games. Like
he's in the rights too. But I'm here for it,
I mean, I don't.
Speaker 1 (11:53):
I mean, hey, yeah, I want it to happen, But
I think banking on it is foolish. You need easier
buckets at the basket, and one of the ways that
the rockets are offense opens up that way, whether it
be Jalen Green at the rim or finding others like
he did when he found Tarry Easton on a corner
three in game number five and he was making a
couple of plays. Is yeah, him getting to the basket,
staying under control and not and taking care of the
(12:16):
basketball and.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
Just look like he's vested, look like he wants to
go to the lane, doesn't mind drawing the traffic, get
to the foul line. Because Jalen Green, one of the
things that makes him so much better this year as
compared to previous years, he can't use a free throw
line to his advantage. Seven one three, two one two
five seven ninety To join our shows, then anything goes Friday, literally,
anything you want to talk about today, you can do
(12:40):
so up until two o'clock.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
It is, and anything goes Friday at ten twenty Matt
here in San Francisco, rossback in Houston.
Speaker 3 (12:49):
Man, you know, I'm a for you aholic and it's
a terrible thing. While else I can't find anybody has
a rocket twenty the night. I just can't. In fact,
somebody just said that. Zach Lowan his podcast is already
previewing Tim Wolf's Warriors Round two already.
Speaker 5 (13:01):
Oh no, is he really?
Speaker 3 (13:06):
Yeah, you have to have an opinion.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
I mean I get it.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
You have to have it. And I mean if you
and I were doing Orlando Radio, would we probably picked
the warders because it's a game six, it's a home
it's Steph, it's Butler, it's Draymond, it's you know, it's
being in San Francisco.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
I mean, I mean, I get it. I mean I'm not.
I think crush it's not stupid. I think we as
a sporting public, though, too is is we're not sometimes
paying attention to the details and we get caught up
in the names. I think that's why the the Lakers
were two to one favorites in the series Price And
I don't I didn't think that was the right price.
(13:46):
I think that's why. I mean Luka Doncic and Lebron James,
and I think that's happening here. It's Jimmy Butler, It's
it's Steph Curry, it's Draymond Green. But yeah, the Lebron
James is forty years old and he can't play a
look of defense.
Speaker 5 (13:57):
Neither can Luka Doncic.
Speaker 1 (13:59):
These this Warrior team is on every other night again
now for a fourth straight game. Jimmy Butler's hip injury
is limiting him severely. If they had either a two
days rest or be Jimmy Butler is more healthy, I'd
be more apt to agree with the America Sports betting
or watching public. But I just think this is gonna
(14:22):
be another knockdown, drag out game. Steph Curry can rise
above it, but the Rockets have been limiting him all
series long, and he looked worn down and completely gassed
in Game number five, and same thing for Draymond Green
and Jimmy Butler. So yeah, maybe Brandon Pejemski goes off
and has a big game, or Buddy Healed knocks down
(14:43):
five six threes and really helps them rise above or
Fred Van vlier. The Rockets can't hit a lick from
three like that happened in Game one when they went
six of twenty nine.
Speaker 5 (14:51):
It can happen.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
But to act like this is just gonna be some
runaway coordination from the Golden State Warriors, I do not
see that at all.
Speaker 3 (14:58):
Yeah, and again we've got the local bias to it,
and I understand that.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
Now I'm completely unbiased, Matt. And I'm wearing a Dunktu're
not Rocket shirt right now?
Speaker 3 (15:07):
Yeah?
Speaker 13 (15:08):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (15:08):
Is it whiter? Is at red?
Speaker 5 (15:09):
It's the red duncture not shirt.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
Oh good?
Speaker 3 (15:12):
I mean so it's got no collar, which is no
surprise you typically for you.
Speaker 5 (15:15):
That's fine, it's radio. What do we need to wear
a collar for. I'm not on TV.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
We could get you on TV. You've been on TV
before in the old Spacity network.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
Yeah, I wore a collared shirt or I think at
least a black T shirt. I want to go Steve
Jobs and just wear a black T shirt every day.
I'm tired of deciding what to wear every day.
Speaker 3 (15:30):
It tings you out a little bit, is what it does.
Speaker 5 (15:32):
What you're saying, Yeah, it's slimming.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
No, that's not why I'm gonna do it, but yeah,
you lose it white.
Speaker 5 (15:36):
Now just put on a black shirt.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
I think it works, of course. Thanks, okay, seven five,
seven nine. If you want to time in you tenant' clockers,
we ross and I'm talking about today, Liu ten o'clockers
a little slow to wake up a little bit. I mean,
were you not entertainment the previous show?
Speaker 1 (15:52):
I mean, come on, we we're hearing well our day. Drunks,
potheads and slackers don't normally get up until afternoon, Matt.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
We appreciate them. It's funny when when the show up
to ten o'clock, we didn't make the strippers up at
ten they're still sleeping.
Speaker 5 (16:02):
Yeah, so that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
They got an hour and a half there.
Speaker 1 (16:05):
There's not said yet. And the guys that were getting
dances from the at three am are still sleeping.
Speaker 3 (16:10):
That is true. That is fair, all right. Other things
going on, Astro start a weekend series with the Chicago
White Sox in Chicago at bait Field, which is maybe
the worst name in sports right now. Uh huh lances,
but colors will throw on Sunday, very curious to uh
figure out what's gonna happen on that.
Speaker 5 (16:28):
Let's do that's a huge story.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
I think, let's write it down and just just for blanking.
Let me give you some over unders and you take
the overs and the anders on this.
Speaker 5 (16:40):
Let me put it this way.
Speaker 1 (16:41):
As long as you don't we hear the word discomfort
or set back, I'm happy, I'm gonna say, let me
just say that first, but.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
Just happy to be out there that you're looking to hear.
All right, four innings over under, Oh my god.
Speaker 1 (16:54):
Literally we did got feelings one of the days, one
of the many days you were out and I said
four innings exactly for him. So that's a good line
in my opinion. I'm gonna go over and be optimistic.
But I could see I could see him go out there,
walk a couple of guys, rack up like thirty pitches
in the first inning, give up a run or two,
and then kind of settle in and go four. I
think four is probably a very very good line. Sixty
(17:18):
five pitches over well, the runs, hits, walks, we can't guess.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
I mean hitting or not, yeah, I mean.
Speaker 5 (17:29):
Strikeouts over fifteen.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
Let's go okay, now you're high, well, yeah, I would
say if you get four from him. That's a win.
Mm hmm.
Speaker 5 (17:42):
But you know, issue predictions, your prediction.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
I'm gonna go, oh man four, so good.
Speaker 3 (17:53):
It shooting?
Speaker 1 (17:54):
I do it.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
Yeah, it's the White Sox. It's the White Sox. I
will go under slightly.
Speaker 5 (18:02):
Oh come on, I.
Speaker 3 (18:05):
Think pitch count will wind up being his biggest detriment.
Speaker 5 (18:08):
Hey, that could happen. I mean, look, he ran me.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
I think it could be.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
It could be like three and two thirds, giving up
two runs, four hits, four strikeouts, two walks. Pitch counts
at seventy six are like, you're done.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
Well, let me bet you do you know where the
Chicago White Sox ranking team?
Speaker 5 (18:24):
Ops?
Speaker 3 (18:25):
I do not.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
They are thirtieth, Matt. How many teams are there in
Major League Baseball? There?
Speaker 3 (18:30):
Last time I checked, there are thirty. So you're saying
that in the Astros White Sox series all weekend take
the Unders.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (18:38):
Well, yeah, the Astros are twenty third.
Speaker 3 (18:42):
Like I said, kicking Anders could be your friend.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
No, it's time to wake up baby, time to destroy
rate field.
Speaker 3 (18:52):
I mean, what a wretched names. Yeah, nobody cares about
the White Sox. It's too close for to A very dangerous.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
Word is it with a letter PI.
Speaker 3 (19:03):
All right, Okay, I'm just saying, well, I'm saying south
side of Chicago is you know what?
Speaker 1 (19:12):
We're not gonna say anymore plans of colors Junior on Sunday.
I'm going over the flour in then innings. But I
think it's gonna be exactly four.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
All right, put in the car before the horse on
this one.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
How long?
Speaker 3 (19:25):
When are we gonna see a stretch where that becomes
eighty eighty five pitches?
Speaker 1 (19:29):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (19:30):
I would not expect at any points this year to
lands for throw a hundred pitches. I just think that.
I think the body's gonna say, you know what, you've
worked two and a half years to get your butt
back on the.
Speaker 5 (19:38):
Cur any iron the year.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
No, I think he has to at some point if
he's gonna stay in this rotation and actually be a contributor,
he's got to get around there at some point, you
really think, so, Yeah, I will.
Speaker 3 (19:48):
I will gut feeling this for next Tuesday. He doesn't
throw one hundred pitches in a game this year, just
because it has taken so long to get back, they
don't want to take any any chances.
Speaker 5 (19:58):
That's a long year. It's May second.
Speaker 1 (19:59):
I mean there's if if they throw him out, if
he's I don't know, a like seventy five win inning
and they put him back out there.
Speaker 3 (20:05):
Yeah, it could happen, all right. Seven one three two
one two, five o'clock, five o'clock, seven one, three, two
two five seven on eight ten o'clockers, wake up, let's go.
Then it goes Friday, San thirty three. It is The
Matt Thomas Show with Ross here from San Francisco, California.
Ross Uh, I was just telling this to my wife
before he came on the show today. This is probably
(20:25):
as an expensive as a city as New York is
to eat and drink and enjoy yourself.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
Mm hm.
Speaker 3 (20:30):
So if you're coming to California, especially on the northern side,
be ready to spend some moolah. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
I'm curious what the highest cost outside of you know,
like Hampton's or something something niche like you know, Palm
Beach or something.
Speaker 5 (20:43):
Right like major metro cities.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
Yep, probably New York, San Diego, San Francisco, somewhere in there.
Speaker 3 (20:49):
I think if you took the entire sate of New
York and entire sit of California, and you went against
the field. You probably went with those two states. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
Oh wow, here Galveson's the number two.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
In what I'm just kidding? Oh my god, look at
the Galveson hat coming in all.
Speaker 5 (21:07):
Dy does that hate? I'm just making a joke.
Speaker 3 (21:11):
All right, you know what the rock.
Speaker 5 (21:12):
Man he had number one.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
This said, this list is Honolulu to San Jose and
then San Francisco.
Speaker 3 (21:18):
Oh yeah, so too of the base.
Speaker 5 (21:19):
San Jose's expensive like that.
Speaker 3 (21:22):
I think it's just because well, I mean all the
tech companies, I guess. I mean you gotta realize from
San Jose North all the way up here to San Francisco,
it is nothing like you know, Pinterrist.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
Is here, Google is here?
Speaker 3 (21:34):
Yeah, who else is here?
Speaker 5 (21:36):
Is Apple around there?
Speaker 1 (21:37):
Somewhere?
Speaker 3 (21:37):
Got Apple's not far? Uber Uber is here, Lift is here.
Speaker 1 (21:42):
I mean Pescilla used to be there. I don't know
if they're there. I think they moved to Austin. Right.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
I almost wade mode for the first time yesterday. Oh
it's way mode. That's where the driverless cars.
Speaker 5 (21:51):
Oh okay, I'm staying out of that.
Speaker 3 (21:55):
I think for a short drive like within Like I mean,
I wouldn't go from the to the airport from here
with those things. But I think it'd be kind of
fun just for a couple of miles if you're staying
around the city Spezer.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
Okay, well, I don't want to get in the wreck.
And then also, you're supporting the workforce, Matt. You're supporting
those uber drivers who need to make a living.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
Yeah, but some of those uber drivers don't like to
take a used deodorant and so that's an issue for me.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
Well, then they put that in the comments section. Oh
say this brow this maunds like a bag onions. Put
it on there when the comments bring some right guard.
Speaker 5 (22:29):
Yeah, put in the comments degree cool rush is your friend?
Speaker 1 (22:35):
Uh you, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (22:36):
I just I wouldn't do it on the regular put
it that way, but I do want to do it
at least one time. You can do it anonymously, and
I'm talking about the way moo oh.
Speaker 5 (22:45):
Yeah, I'm staying off of it.
Speaker 3 (22:47):
They are very popular here, I mean now here that
there's a lot of people are saying, well, you don't
have to tip the driver anymore, but the rates are
more expensive than the.
Speaker 5 (22:57):
They're more expensive. I'm definitely not take it in now.
Speaker 3 (23:01):
Yeah, I think we should do it once just to
say we did it. I mean, I wouldn't be one
of those the regular No, all right, yeah again, I
just I just don't need body odor and I'm not
just music in my car. In the car, I would
say eighty Yeah, eighty five percent of my uber driver
or is just fine. I would say eighty five is
a good number. That's that's a fair number. But that
(23:21):
fifteen it's like in that episode of a Sign Fel
when the guy has bo and you can't sho, you
can't shake the beat.
Speaker 5 (23:27):
It's not that bad.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
It is.
Speaker 3 (23:30):
Oh, it's been bad, trust me. Yeah, okay, you've been
in cars before bo drivers, you know. Yeah, but it
doesn't stick on you like in that episode of the show.
Maybe not all right seven one three two one two
five seven ninety seven one three two one two five
seven nine zero Ross go a little bit of astros,
(23:52):
got a little bit of the rockets, and we're going
to a lot to that again. Email Dug is going
to join its A twelve fifteen Today, I just glanced
Shadre Sanders and his crew already making enemies in Cleveland.
Speaker 5 (24:04):
I did not see that.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
I saw them putting videos of him running up a hill,
talking about how he's grinding hard and getting to work. Wow,
so they're going to sell this He's gonna help him
throw a football and he's running up a hill.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
Yeah. I really think and we've talked about it very
briefly on over the weekend on Monday. I really do
think this is going to be a headache for the
Cleveland Browns that I think his PR team is going
to do everything inhumanly possible to say you are on
the NFL goofed up as compared to is going down
(24:36):
with his head down, going to training camp like most
fifth round picks do. Ross. I think the social media campaign,
the energy behind him. I think his dad will be
saying a lot of things. There'll be a lot of
things that a lot of NFL teams will say, this
is the reason why we didn't drap the guy until
or didn't draft him at all.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
Yeah. I think they're already running like a counter PR campaign,
And what they need to do is just stay in
the shadows. They just need to let him quietly work
and improve and get better. As you know, Matt real
G's moving silence like Lasagna, and that's what he needs
to do.
Speaker 3 (25:08):
On this What did you just say?
Speaker 1 (25:12):
Real GE's moving silence like Lasagna? Where is that from?
I respect it, I just don't know where it's from.
It's from American poet laureate Lil Wayne. Come on, Matt, don't.
Speaker 3 (25:26):
You come on me. You don't even know who the
Beg's were three days ago? Shut up?
Speaker 1 (25:29):
I know is.
Speaker 9 (25:32):
No.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
So that's what he needs to stay in the shadows
on this. I don't know if they're gonna do it.
I don't know if he even has the capability the
way that he's grown up and been at the forefront,
and maybe he just either needs to do that or
think that's just how things go. But he just needs
to quietly work, put his head down. He obviously there
was a lot of embarrassment with the draft, but your
career starts at the draft.
Speaker 5 (25:52):
It doesn't end at the draft. So he can still
improve and get better.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
Because here's the thing, no one needs him at this
point to prove any The storyline has already written. You're
a fifth round draft pick. Now you go into training camp, ross,
are you going to the preseason? Or you figure out
a way to get on the field. At some point
in twenty twenty five, and you start doing things. Then
you can do the social media campaign, then you can
(26:16):
do the I told just so, then you can do
the you know here I am working, but right now
you should be an afterthought. There is no other fifth
round pick in the NFL among the thirty two teams
that is getting any attention.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
And my guest is Ross.
Speaker 3 (26:31):
In the last I don't know, fifty years of the
NFL draft. Fifth round draft picks don't get media attention
in early May, no YRK. And that's why I think
he ultimately and I don't think there's any chill factor
to him. I think he has to chill out, because again,
if he's good, I'm okay with that.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
I mean, the player itself is fine, but all this,
I mean, the entire weekend of the draft was just
what's going on? Whose fault is this? The fault is,
it's the Sanders family's fault. It's the he just can't
turn it off, he can't be low key for a while.
And now you've got ESPN radio hosts in Cleveland fighting
(27:09):
with the members of the Sherdor Sanders team.
Speaker 5 (27:11):
It's just I didn't know that what happened.
Speaker 3 (27:15):
I just saw that it's one of his group members
or whatever his in his entourage, his entourage.
Speaker 1 (27:22):
Can you afford an entourage on a fifth round salary? Well,
this little toe whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa whoa.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
Hey, guys, we're.
Speaker 5 (27:29):
Having chicken nuggets tonight for dinner. I gotta mean that.
Speaker 3 (27:31):
You mean the colorad of Buffalo salaries?
Speaker 1 (27:33):
What you tell?
Speaker 3 (27:33):
It's true?
Speaker 5 (27:34):
Still, but I mean that's got to dry up at
some point.
Speaker 1 (27:37):
Man. Sorry, right, guys, we're eating everybody get five pieces
off the fifty piece nugget from Chick fil a.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
Yeah, but those nuggets of Chick fil are too small.
Speaker 1 (27:45):
I know that's from saying times. It's tough on that
fifth round salary, Matt. You got to go almost got
plateful of nuggets, don't you. Well, at least he can
get some good veteran mentors mentorship from Deshaun Watson.
Speaker 3 (27:56):
I mean, I have all places for him to go.
That probably wasn't the top spot.
Speaker 1 (28:00):
Although do you even think that Deshaun will be in
the facility much this year? He's rehabbing all year long.
Wouldn't you just tell him go away for a while?
Speaker 3 (28:06):
Yeah, And by the way, why would Deshaun want to
be around that because all they've done is brought in
four quarterbacks in the last twelve months.
Speaker 5 (28:13):
Yeah, I don't think he would, all right, So just.
Speaker 3 (28:17):
I you know, I think the more and more we
see of him, maybe this was just a one off.
Speaker 1 (28:23):
But the more and more.
Speaker 3 (28:24):
Of the videos we see and the constant headlines, I
think more and more NFL executives are gonna say this
is the reason why and wake us up when you're relevant.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
Yeah, but maybe with this is ross.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
Maybe this is also a byproduct of what has turned
into the segue between college athletics nil in the NFL.
Speaker 5 (28:46):
It's some of it.
Speaker 1 (28:47):
But also I think he's a special case because of
who he is and who his father is.
Speaker 9 (28:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (28:52):
Yeah seven one three two one two five seven ninety
seven one three two one two five seven nine zero
is how he reach us in forty six Sports Talk
seven on he he's Gordy in our studios. No, okay,
this is his Friday segment typically, Well, he must be
(29:14):
very busy, Are you serious? Maybe he's maybe he's applying
for lockdown something.
Speaker 5 (29:20):
He's got a lot to.
Speaker 3 (29:21):
Do, are they really mm hmm.
Speaker 5 (29:23):
He's programming three stations, now give him break.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
He did. He did work the six to eight portion
of the Seawn Salisbury show. Yeah, he he did, so,
he did six to eight okay, Yeah, and yesterday he
filled in for a certain host on this show who
left early.
Speaker 3 (29:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
And then he also was in for Adam Weser. He's
programming through stave him give him break. We Weser missed
the first couple of hours. I think it was, honestly,
I think with a personal matter or something I can't remember.
Speaker 3 (29:51):
Okay, so all right, we understand that Gordy is on
his satellite line joining us. Oh okay, the compound on
the lockdown, SECDI or Gordy, what's going on?
Speaker 9 (30:00):
What's up? You guys got me?
Speaker 3 (30:02):
Yes, yes, sir, we do.
Speaker 9 (30:04):
Yeah, Sorry, I didn't really.
Speaker 8 (30:05):
Somebody said it to me yesterday one of the guys
working on my house actually yesterday, he goes, dude, were
you on all three shows today? Because he listens to
seven ninety all day long? And I was like, I
think I was. I was on with Sean, I was
on with you you guys. I was on with the eighteen.
Did did the triple header yesterday?
Speaker 3 (30:23):
Well, Gordy, did you explain how deep our depth chart
is at seven ninety. Did you explain to the guy
that that was That's part of the reason why is
we we we just need you in so many different avenues.
Speaker 12 (30:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (30:34):
Soon, in the next five years we will just be
the station will just be Gordy, Matt and Ross.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
That's what the station will be. I love it.
Speaker 8 (30:43):
I'll stand a noon, We'll take the afternoon till seven.
Speaker 3 (30:49):
I'll do overnights. Oh, very good, love it all right?
So what are you working on these days? What brings
you to the table on this glorious Friday.
Speaker 9 (30:57):
Well, I'm look. You guys have been all over the rock.
Speaker 8 (31:00):
Some of us are are going to be doing some
Astro stuff this weekend, and it's an important series for
the Astros, going up against the White Sox, who stink.
But I don't know, Like Dan asked me earlier, is
it too much to ask the Astros to go sweep? Yes,
it is too much to ask the Asters to go
sweep because they're gonna face Jonathan Cannon tonight. Do you
guys remember that name from last season?
Speaker 1 (31:22):
No?
Speaker 5 (31:24):
John want.
Speaker 8 (31:27):
Nearly pitched a complete game shutout against the Astros last year.
He went eight and two thirds against them. Couldn't get
the last out. Somebody else came in and got it.
But he absolutely.
Speaker 9 (31:38):
Dominated this team. And that was a lineup with Bregman
and Tucker.
Speaker 8 (31:41):
Now it's a lineup with Christian Walker, Christian strikeout Walker and.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
Oh he's been hitting home runs lately. Man yours? Why
I don't need you bring in this certainness to the show?
Canna tell me the Warriors are going by nineteen to
night too? Is that what you want to bring to
the table. What's not with you? Gordy?
Speaker 8 (32:01):
You're the ones saying mccullors will never touch one hundred
pitches again.
Speaker 3 (32:05):
Yeah, I mean that. That's not a crazy take. And
you guys know I'm right.
Speaker 1 (32:10):
He threw seventy one in his last rehab start. He's
building up, he's ramping up, baby.
Speaker 3 (32:14):
Okay. If he's not.
Speaker 1 (32:14):
Gonna throw a hundred pitches, he doesn't need to be
on his team.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
I think you could, you could, You could be a
starter and not three hundred. I mean it's twenty twenty five.
Speaker 8 (32:25):
There was a certain coach host on the station who
used to build a board. I think mccullor's is gonna
build up. He's gonna build to that one hundred pitches
over the season.
Speaker 3 (32:35):
Who used to build a board? You remember who? Rick
Smith used to build a board? That's all I remember.
Speaker 8 (32:46):
Uh apparently, you know, Nick Casario has no board because
they just they never draft for for need.
Speaker 9 (32:52):
They just take whoever's there.
Speaker 3 (32:55):
Yeah, I you know, yeah, I know. He just he
just wanted to grab I away state receivers because that's
the league needs more of it. But that's fine, okay. So,
uh we got a weekend series with the White Sox
and they go to Milwaukee to take on to the
Brewers for three and then finally maybe some home games
coming up, and the Reds will be in next week,
so you know, ultimately, hey, they're hanging around. And oh,
(33:16):
by way, have you guys noticed the Rangers suck right now?
Which is terrible news, just terrible news. That's a shame.
Speaker 9 (33:23):
Yes, and that's the crazy part.
Speaker 8 (33:25):
The Aos has been a pretty tight race here so
far out of the gates, and yes, like the Rangers
in fourth place, but there's still only three game backs,
three games back of Seattle. The Angels have lost six
in a row. They're now six back. I think they
may be faught like this thing, that they may fall
completely out of this and maybe in a month from now, guys,
we're talking about just a two horse race between the
Maritors and the Astros.
Speaker 3 (33:46):
And oh, by the way, Mike trot going back on
the ajur list of one understand?
Speaker 1 (33:49):
So uh for real death TAXI hmm, poor Mike Trout,
that's to be expected.
Speaker 8 (33:57):
And Ron Washington, how are things going there since they
hired him? Fantastic?
Speaker 3 (34:02):
I mean, look, I don't want to be an ageist,
but the reality is Dusty Baker got the Astros' job
because they needed some stability. He'd also had almost two
thousand wins. He went everywhere where he went. Ron Washington
did have some success in Texas. But what were the
(34:22):
Angels thinking? I mean, were they thinking the guy that
had been out of the baseball as a bench coach
for the last handful of years was gonna be a
guy who's gonna all a sudden reinvigorate the Angels. They
can't keep people healthy, and Mike Trott, as great as
he is, can't stay healthy.
Speaker 8 (34:38):
They saw Dusty Baker and they saw Bruce Bochie and
they said, hiring old is in and yeah, and they said,
maybe if we could just keep his nose clean.
Speaker 9 (34:46):
He can be a good.
Speaker 5 (34:47):
That's all right, come on that years ago.
Speaker 3 (34:50):
God, seriously, you were certainly when I got in the
car yesterday listened to you talking about Aaron Holliday making
a super big difference in the series, and now you're
surly with with Ron Washington in his nose.
Speaker 1 (35:02):
I think they just wanted to hire an old manager
that could get there until the team gets better.
Speaker 3 (35:06):
All right, So if we're going to listen to the
Rockets tonight on katr age to listen to the Astros
in seventy, how are we going to pair it with
Chris Cordy. How are we gonna handle that?
Speaker 10 (35:16):
Well?
Speaker 8 (35:17):
Hopefully you guys are drinking ice cold Crawford bock from
our friends at Carbock Brewing. I had a friend in
town this past weekend. I took him to an Astros game,
It's first Astros game ever, and he said, what's this
interesting beer served at the ballpark? I said, my friend,
you were in for a tree. It's the Crawford back
from Carbock Brewing. We had a lot of fun out
there last Friday with Ross and I at our the
watch party on Friday night with all the Astros fans
(35:38):
out there, and fun to be back at the ballpark
in just a couple of days. We'll be drinking that
ice cold Crawford Bok, watching the Astros, rooting them on
and expecting wins. Gotta win, gotta win for Lance mccullors
on Sunday, Gotta beat Jonathan Cannon tonight.
Speaker 9 (35:51):
I'm gonna call it, Matt. They're getting a serious sweep.
Speaker 1 (35:54):
Ooh, I love it.
Speaker 3 (35:56):
Is that a Gordy gut feeling right?
Speaker 13 (35:57):
There?
Speaker 12 (35:58):
Is?
Speaker 3 (35:58):
He putting his name on it?
Speaker 1 (35:59):
Yeah? I like it.
Speaker 3 (36:01):
We have some breaking news when it comes to what's
happening with the San Antonio Spurs.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
I think we shuhit? The sounder a Ross?
Speaker 5 (36:10):
Oh really? How many I didn't see it?
Speaker 3 (36:12):
Don't look, don't look, don't look.
Speaker 1 (36:13):
Ok by the way, the throne bruise for Mike Trout.
Nothing serious those two, well there was one and a
half kind of okay, we got to educate the young man. Jonathan.
You don't get to decide. We decide he did it. Three.
Speaker 5 (36:29):
I think I know the news.
Speaker 14 (36:31):
You know what.
Speaker 3 (36:32):
I'm gonna go ahead and agree with him on three?
Oh wow?
Speaker 5 (36:37):
See, uh okay, can I guess I promise? I?
Speaker 1 (36:40):
Oh, now, I actually promise. I gave it away.
Speaker 3 (36:43):
Some of it already.
Speaker 1 (36:43):
I think, well, it's also up on the ESPN board.
You're not gonna believe. I didn't guess. I was gonna
guess Popovich's it was stepping down.
Speaker 3 (36:49):
He is stepping down.
Speaker 1 (36:51):
I mean he's old and he's had multiple strokes. What
I mean this is? I mean, I guess for the
history of basketball, it's a three, but for like the
amount of shot, it's like a zero.
Speaker 3 (37:01):
No, no, no shock zero. But still yeah, he's the
all time winning his coach in the NBA.
Speaker 1 (37:06):
That's pretty good. It's five championship, pretty good. As a
surly m.
Speaker 3 (37:10):
F R uses politics to in his media press conferences.
That's when he started giving zero f's mm hmm. He said,
what are they gonna do?
Speaker 1 (37:18):
Fire me?
Speaker 3 (37:19):
And fired the coach that took the during the late
nineties and then he left.
Speaker 5 (37:24):
Was it John Lucas or was that different?
Speaker 3 (37:26):
No? No, I think it was PJ. Carlissimo or Hill
maybe now Brian Hill, Greg which who did he replace?
I'm staring at him right now. I can't remember his name.
But it was not No, it was not. It wasn't
p J. Carlisimo No, it was oh, Bob Hill, Bob Hill,
Bob Hill and Brian Hill. Bob Hill at the Glasses,
(37:47):
Brian Hill did not Brian Okay.
Speaker 1 (37:48):
John Lucas was just before that, I got you and
PJ Carlismo was one of his assistants. That's what I
was thinking to him.
Speaker 3 (37:54):
Yeap, So Pop is stepping down. My guess is his
health is not in great condition and that's the reason
why he's going to transition to team president, which my
guess is would probably be just a name.
Speaker 1 (38:05):
Why is he even gonna do that? He's seventy six
and he just had multiple strokes.
Speaker 3 (38:08):
Hang them up, Pop, well, because I think there's a
lot of money attached to his name still at this point.
Speaker 1 (38:12):
Wow. Yeah, he's probably made literally like one hundred million
dollars in his career.
Speaker 3 (38:17):
But he was didn't you get a new deal a
few years ago? Was paying him obscene amounts.
Speaker 5 (38:20):
Of Yeah, that's what I'm saying. In life's too short, Pop,
hang them.
Speaker 3 (38:25):
Up Emay Doka and Pop are very tight, So we'll
tell you him about that. But ten at twelve fifteen,
So there you have it. So Greg Popovic officially stepping
down five NBA titles, six NBA appearances, one thousand, four
hundred and twenty two regular season wins. What do you
(38:48):
put that Spurs team all time among the greats.
Speaker 1 (38:50):
It's not, it's not. Uh.
Speaker 3 (38:52):
I don't think it's Showtime. I don't think it's Celtics.
I don't know it's Bulls.
Speaker 1 (38:57):
But could that be the fourth greatest group of guys collected?
Speaker 5 (39:00):
I hit somewhere up there.
Speaker 1 (39:01):
I mean, they broke through the Kobe shack Lakers.
Speaker 3 (39:06):
Beat them up, took them out, put them at the side.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
Now, the two thousand and two to two thousand and
eight nine ten area of basketball was just it wasn't
it was. It was horrible. Quite frankly, it was horrible.
It was it was borderline unwatchable. They had to make
a lot of rule changes. Lebron hadn't kind of risen
to the heights or Kobe was kind of just doing it.
But then they also broke through and they destroyed they
(39:31):
destroyed the Lebron Heatles.
Speaker 3 (39:36):
So is that group better than Shack Kobe led Lakers?
Speaker 1 (39:40):
And they should have beat him in twenty thirteen when
Ray Allen hit that shot in Game six, Yeah, I.
Speaker 3 (39:49):
Mean, when you're winning all those five, you gotta be
the fourth greatest group. You just do, I think by
just by by pure number of NBA championships, even if
the league was down.
Speaker 5 (39:58):
And it was yeah, kind of two different area.
Speaker 1 (40:00):
Is that last one they won in fourteen was Kawhi
Leonard was on his assent he won that NBA finals,
Tony Parker, Manager Noble and Tim Duncan were kind of
on their way out.
Speaker 5 (40:08):
But that was a great team, was it?
Speaker 1 (40:10):
Like Boris Diao, Thiago Splitter, like the ball movement on
that team is one of the all time greats.
Speaker 3 (40:16):
And it's not what that group of guys today. I
don't think could win right now, honestly because it's so
dependent such a three delete league at three point shot
dependent league.
Speaker 5 (40:27):
Yeah, it's the basketball is way different now.
Speaker 3 (40:30):
But I'll say this, you have to play to the
what I mean, somebody's gotta be the best in something
every year, right, Yeah, they were the best usually you
need to get credit for beat them.
Speaker 1 (40:39):
There were still thirty teams in the league, and they
ended up the best yeap and they beat the Lebron
I mean Lebron Wade and Bosh team.
Speaker 3 (40:48):
Yeah, all right. Ten fifty eight on Sports talk seven
ninety in one half hour, you're gonna call in and
apologize with the things you've said this week and done.
I feel like my list is fairly long. I feel
like every Friday, my list is long and it sh
but it's a cleansing.
Speaker 15 (41:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (41:03):
No, you usually apologize for other people. Are things that
other people did? You never admit falls on anything in
this segment.
Speaker 3 (41:10):
All right, the first three things I will do this week, uh,
and in half an I will be things that I
have done and a pot will apologize. All right, Matt
and Ross with you here on the midday show that
we call the Matt Thomas Show. Ross Time is eleven
three seven one three two one two five seven ninety
seven one three two one two five seven AI. We're
going to do our sorries coming up in about twenty
(41:31):
five minutes. We'll have the News at noon.
Speaker 1 (41:32):
It'll be a shorter edition of the News at noon
because we've got Ima A Doka joining.
Speaker 3 (41:35):
Us at twelve fifteen today, getting you ready for Game
number six Rockets v. Warriors. Ross before we go to
the phones and talk to the great people of Houston, Texas.
One hundred and seventy three votes are in sixty six
percent say Rockets win tonight and thirty four percent say
the Warriors. Your that's not that's not a positive chuckle.
Speaker 5 (41:56):
That's a creepy it's a worry chuckle.
Speaker 3 (42:01):
But I get it.
Speaker 1 (42:03):
You're on the road. It's game six, it's a seven
game series. It's I'm sure the the Warrior. If we're
on Warriors Radio, Matt, it's a must win the game
tonight for the Golden State Warriors. They can't send this
series back to Houston.
Speaker 3 (42:23):
Yeah, I'm going on I'm going on one of the
San Francisco radio stations as soon as I'm undone with
you us today. So well, I'm sure i'll be hearing that.
Speaker 5 (42:32):
Okay, tell them I said, suck it.
Speaker 9 (42:37):
Really no.
Speaker 1 (42:41):
This, ask them if they're hiring, do you really want
to move here? Probably not.
Speaker 3 (42:48):
I mean, if you came to me, this isn't honest.
This is and you and I've had this conversation off
there many times. If you can't you've come to me
with a hey, what do you think about this? Or
what do you think about that?
Speaker 1 (42:56):
Uh huh.
Speaker 3 (42:57):
And I've been very honest with you. San Francisco is
a really, really great sports market, but doesn't necessarily mean
it translates into a great media market. Does that make
sense to you?
Speaker 5 (43:11):
I guess so. I think there's been one. There's massive
layoffs everywhere.
Speaker 1 (43:15):
Yeah. See, you're talking Niners, Warriors, Giants.
Speaker 3 (43:21):
Giants are huge here. Niners are huge here. Warriors or
the hockey team doesn't really resonate and they have a
hockey team the channels, oh okay, and then the colleges
don't really resonate here either, so it it'll be minimal
of zero.
Speaker 5 (43:34):
College breaking down cow Bears like a mutta.
Speaker 3 (43:37):
You're not talking about the upcoming Stanford Oregon State game
straight ahead? Okay? It is so weird that Callen and
Stanford are in the NCC.
Speaker 1 (43:45):
It's like you're not always breaking down Houston versus the
Akron Zips around here that happens.
Speaker 3 (43:51):
Yeah, yeah, I think the only city that probably balances
pro and college for like fifty fifty. Can you guess
what do you think?
Speaker 1 (43:57):
I did?
Speaker 3 (43:58):
The only major city, noth say, the only one the
one that comes to mind of a city that balances
its college sports and it's pro sports fifty to fifty.
That's that would be an accurate I'm the Wahine probably
does get some coverage, but there's no pro.
Speaker 1 (44:13):
Teams in Honolu, so that wouldn't be moot. I don't
know Atlanta. I thought it was Philadelphia. No, the college
basketball Nova.
Speaker 3 (44:27):
I've never really heard much Philadelphia sports radio talking college basketball.
Speaker 1 (44:30):
Bill Cosby calling in about the Temple Owls. All right,
let's hear Bill Cosby calling in about the Temple Owls.
Speaker 16 (44:38):
Temple Owls or in the American Conference a couple of
more putting pops.
Speaker 1 (44:44):
They could be in the Big Ten with with the.
Speaker 16 (44:47):
Rest of the Penn States and the Isles and in
the other schools, and maybe we go to the ace ACC.
Speaker 1 (44:55):
We could play some U and Georgia Tech. Rubbru Hi,
my name is Ross and I'd like to personal I'd
like to personally apologize for what just happened in the
last twenty seconds of these airwaves here on Sports Talk
seven ninety. What just happened is not normal. We're dealing
with somebody who is off as meds and we're looking
(45:15):
to uh correct the situation as quickly as possible.
Speaker 3 (45:18):
You know why.
Speaker 1 (45:19):
I guess I've been in San Franisco too much and
I think it's the reason why what so you start
talking about Bill. You do Bill Cosmi impressions. You eat
rice and rome.
Speaker 3 (45:27):
The air is different here in the Bay Area.
Speaker 1 (45:29):
It is nice and cool. You bring your jacket.
Speaker 3 (45:31):
Uh yeah, I brought a couple of sweatshirts.
Speaker 1 (45:33):
Yeah. Okay.
Speaker 3 (45:35):
There's weed smell here, constantly, constant weed smell.
Speaker 5 (45:39):
That's in Houston, Texas.
Speaker 1 (45:40):
Now too pasto, But I mean I go downtown Houston
and not smell too quick.
Speaker 5 (45:44):
Get the loud clouds everywhere you drive somewhere.
Speaker 3 (45:47):
Some of you guys were lighting up at the Tota
Center in thenight, just saying, yeah, it's gonna happen.
Speaker 5 (45:54):
It's somebody lit a skunk in here.
Speaker 3 (45:57):
Biscuit eleven O seven on seven ninety bus good, good.
Speaker 13 (46:00):
Morning, cougar Man, cougar Man. First of all, man, you
heard the coach find a big time at the coach
of Okay State, right.
Speaker 3 (46:10):
Uh, yes, this is a coach.
Speaker 13 (46:11):
Yes, and he got a recruiting a seven foot from
the sixth class.
Speaker 3 (46:17):
Then can Wen.
Speaker 13 (46:20):
Samson sitting on the gold mine over there? Man, I
hope so, but let me say this, mad man, can
we get a young fellow chance man?
Speaker 11 (46:29):
Listen?
Speaker 13 (46:30):
Man, I if we here reported Shador is not listening
to the coaches, or he ain't in the playbook, or
he's out of the club, or you know, he's putting
some hands on somebody. That's fine, but he's running up
a hill, and we're gonna get mad because he running
up a hill.
Speaker 1 (46:46):
No no, no, no, no, no, not no, not mad?
Speaker 5 (46:49):
Who got mad?
Speaker 1 (46:50):
Who got mad?
Speaker 13 (46:52):
If we criticizing him for doing it?
Speaker 1 (46:55):
I think he needs to know.
Speaker 3 (46:57):
I think I think he I think he didn't learn
anything the draft this past weekend.
Speaker 13 (47:01):
And when you know what, let's how you know. We'll see.
Let's see if he get up to the playbook. Let's
see if he laid the move meetings. Let's see if
he disrespectful to his teammates. Not if he I've seen it,
could be went to the inner city school and talked
to to you. Is that you got problem with that?
Speaker 1 (47:21):
Well, of course not.
Speaker 13 (47:23):
Okay, some people do, man, some people are.
Speaker 1 (47:26):
Somebody's got a problem for him going to somebody got mad,
that's not true, just making somebody.
Speaker 13 (47:33):
You look at the emotional media, you'll see it. You'll
fee it more than mad. He got high jersey sales too.
There's gonna be people mad because of that. And that's
not his fault.
Speaker 1 (47:42):
Why would be mad about that?
Speaker 3 (47:43):
I mean, people have people are allowed to used their
money the way they want to. They're anders fans.
Speaker 1 (47:48):
There's I'm just.
Speaker 3 (47:49):
Saying that, I hate hold on. If you have not
learned that the twenty four hour seven PR machine doesn't
help you, then turn the machine off for a while.
That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 13 (48:02):
Well, I'm saying is mad. Let's judge him on what
he does on the field. Let's judge him what he
does football related in his off time he has, he
can do whatever, as long as it's not detrimental to
his football. I could give a fire and flip what
he do. Let's judge him on his football. Let's judge him.
Let's see what he does when he actually gets to
(48:24):
the facility.
Speaker 1 (48:25):
Get that's what we're doing. We didn't bring up his football.
We didn't bring it up.
Speaker 3 (48:29):
I'm telling you three days after being put to the
fifth round because he was considered a PR machine and
his dad got in the way, and the interviews were
bad and the lack of preparation going into it. He's
out there doing this to try to rebuild his image.
Speaker 1 (48:42):
It's not gonna happen. No one cares.
Speaker 3 (48:45):
Just go away and go to camp and do with
the things you're just saying, and go earn a spot
on the football team, and then you can have all
your shine. But right now, be low key. There's nothing
low key about pay or his family has. That's all
I'm saying.
Speaker 13 (49:01):
Nothing I'm saying to you, Matt. Why does he have
to be low key? As long as he's handling his business.
Speaker 1 (49:07):
He is handling his business.
Speaker 3 (49:08):
He's a fifth round draft pick, he's gonna be a
he's gonna be a backup in the NFL in twenty
twenty five. That's handling his business.
Speaker 13 (49:14):
What I'm what I'm saying to you, Matt. Going forward
from now, we understand that he didn't have no interview process.
All that we understand he.
Speaker 3 (49:21):
Didn't work out, didn't go to the combine, did everywhere.
Speaker 1 (49:24):
He could not have screwed it up any worse.
Speaker 3 (49:26):
And so guess what the pre draft process and you
get the reward of being a fifth round draft pick.
Learn from your mistakes, That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 13 (49:35):
All I'm saying to you, Matt, is he is off time.
He does not have to stay at home. He gets
long Is he not doing something detrimental. He's not, of
course not. I don't. But you don't need to get
your camera, you know. I'm just saying you don't need it.
Speaker 1 (49:51):
You don't need to put the camera on.
Speaker 3 (49:52):
You don't need to go run to social media for
if you're having a chicken sandwich, you don't need to
put a fit video up there. If you're running around
and doing your workouts and pumping iron, you don't need
video of it.
Speaker 1 (50:01):
Just go do it. That's what today's problem with biscuit.
Speaker 3 (50:05):
All they want to do is they want to run
to their videos and show you how what they're doing
is compared to just doing it.
Speaker 13 (50:11):
I've seen Jalen Hurst squatting in the field of eagles thing.
That's not okay, man, I'm saying to you, Matt, it's
not if he does it okay. But the main thing
is what does he do when he's on the field.
What does he do in the locker room? What does
he elate the meetings? Is he late to stuff? Is
he not paying attention? That's what's I can Whatever he
(50:32):
do off the field in his free time, it don't
even matter to me.
Speaker 1 (50:37):
That's then stop talking about that. Mattered. When you can
stop talking about it, I'm.
Speaker 13 (50:40):
Done with it.
Speaker 3 (50:42):
Because it's my show. I get to talk about topics.
I'm sorry, biscuits, my show, I get to bring out
the fact that a guy who didn't learn his lesson
from the draft is out there trying to images. Sorry,
it's images belt, Sorry it is it just is okay.
He can change it by his performance on the field.
He can be low key. You know the kids, Rossi,
(51:04):
they use this term called low key, be low key, bisket.
Speaker 1 (51:07):
I'm not basket. I'm done talking about this, nobody, the
audience is. I'm losing audience members by this.
Speaker 3 (51:12):
Right now, what else you got?
Speaker 13 (51:15):
And the Rockets to night, you gotta hold down the
others present Ski Buddy Hill. Yeah, I don't think God
to State can score enough points if they can hold
those guys, now.
Speaker 3 (51:25):
God, it help you to me all right, thank you
for the phone call. That's good. I'm good. Thank you, Biscus.
Appreciate it, always appreciate the debate. Rossi of Brandon Pajemski
scores twenty six points. The Rockets are in trouble.
Speaker 5 (51:39):
I could agree with that.
Speaker 3 (51:43):
They can win with Jimmy Butler doing Jimmy Butler.
Speaker 1 (51:46):
Thinks if they can keep Curry under thirty, put Jimmy
at the twenty to twenty five category and then the
combination of Moody Peyton with a couple of baskets here
and there.
Speaker 3 (51:57):
But if Brandon Pajemesk is hitting six three pointers the
rocket or toast, and they shouldn't let that happen because
Brandon is not that good of a shooter. He's good,
not great.
Speaker 1 (52:07):
Yeah, I think I think they're gonna do a pretty
good job of what they've been doing and focusing on
certainly Steph Curry number one, and then Jimmy Butler, and
I think the key to a warrior's victory if we're
going to that side, would be Buddy Heeled or Brandon
Pajemski or both getting around fifteen twenty points or more. Yeah,
(52:27):
I am, I mean, I don't even I don't even
count Moses Moody the twenty five head that a night
doesn't even count to me, It just doesn't.
Speaker 3 (52:34):
That was all in garbage time seven one three two
one two five seven ninety seven one three two one
two five seven ninety em doka in one hour. If
you want to say I'm sorry anybody, to yourself, to
your radio partner, to your girlfriend and your wife, to
the neighbor down the street that's coming up in fifteen minutes.
Speaker 1 (52:52):
It's Sports Talk seven ninety eleven seventeen. It is mad
at Ross.
Speaker 3 (53:00):
I'm here in San Francisco for game number six tonight.
Speaker 1 (53:03):
Rockets and Warriors.
Speaker 3 (53:03):
We'll have it free beginning over on our sister station,
news Radio seven to forty k tr each Ross. You
get the launch pad at seven, which I will feature
a conversation I'm sure with em Adoka, who we with
us in one hour here in the whoo. I'm ready,
I beg you'd be ready on that.
Speaker 9 (53:17):
All right?
Speaker 3 (53:19):
In the circle of trust, when it comes to reporters,
where do you put the Brian Windhorsta.
Speaker 5 (53:24):
I would say comfortably.
Speaker 1 (53:27):
I mean Shams and WoDES were the OG's and he's
right these next tier, but I mean just a small
step down.
Speaker 5 (53:34):
He gets things right.
Speaker 3 (53:35):
I would say, so, are you one of the He
was on one of the morning shows today and they
were talking about yiannisent the coomposure, and they said there
are about four or five teams that would like to
kick the tires if Yiannis wants to leave Milwaukee because
Milwaukee's in salary cap trouble. They have no draft picks.
Lillard's going to be out probably another full season because
of his injury that he suffered last week in the playoffs.
(53:56):
So their cash strap, their salary cap, they need come.
They need some draft capital. Two teams that have come
out of the group, according to Winhurst, more than anybody else,
the San Antonio Spurs h in the Houston Rockets. Hm hmmm.
(54:19):
Now that's just him throwing stuff against the wall, that's
what he's hearing.
Speaker 1 (54:23):
That could be.
Speaker 5 (54:25):
No, I don't think he's making that up.
Speaker 3 (54:27):
No, No, I don't think I'm no, he's I shouldn't
say thrown against the wall. I would say he's got
phone calls, okay, that are he's taking or making and
he's hearing this mm hmm. And I think he understands
in his position that if he throws something like that out,
he's not doing it just because he's trying to incite
a deep conversation. He's saying, Hey, I've got this information,
(54:48):
and I think I'm gonna be I can say with
somewhat certainty that those teams will be very interested if
if indeed, Giannis wants to leave Milwaukee. Now, everything that
has been told so far, at least of what I've seen,
is that it's got to be up to Giannis to
tell Milwaukee I want to move. He's thirty years old,
he is in the prime of his NBA career.
Speaker 1 (55:09):
He scored a prime thirty points per game this year
twelve rebounds. Here's the only two things to drive me.
Speaker 3 (55:18):
Next, he can't shoot free throws, and he's not a
good three point shooter.
Speaker 1 (55:22):
Well, he's shooting sixty percent from the field and scored
thirty points per game.
Speaker 3 (55:27):
Maybe would you say the best downhill NBA player in
today's NBA.
Speaker 1 (55:34):
I think there's an argument for NBA history on that.
Speaker 3 (55:39):
And when we might downhill, meaning the ball goes to
him at the top of the key or the free
throw line. He puts the ball in his hands, he
takes one dribble, he goes the.
Speaker 5 (55:49):
Lane literally one dribbles.
Speaker 3 (55:51):
He hangs, he slams it in front of you. He
makes you look bad. One dribble, top of the key,
free throw line, and scores with incredible efficiency.
Speaker 11 (56:04):
M hm.
Speaker 3 (56:06):
That's when we talk about downhill.
Speaker 5 (56:09):
Yeah, Like, you might as well just start heading the
other way.
Speaker 1 (56:12):
Not a pull up guy.
Speaker 3 (56:13):
I mean he can and has taken fewer threes in
the last couple of years than he has earlier in
his NBA career. What is he about? Thirty one percent
I would say twenty eight.
Speaker 1 (56:22):
Point four percent in his career, twenty two percent this
year he took under one per game.
Speaker 3 (56:27):
Though, oh, I apologize I gave him actually too much grudt.
He was around thirty thirty one percent early, Yeah, earlier
in his career, when he was taking four or five
a game. Now he's it's gone down every year. He's
he took point nine to three pointers per game this year. Okay,
So he knows his limitations and I respect that as
as you get older and get more mature and know
(56:48):
that what you can bring to the table on what
you cannot. Yeah, I mean goes a free throwing a
lot in Missus quite a bit, which is aggravating to
those that are maybe not necessarily honest attractors. But Yannis realist.
Speaker 1 (57:00):
Yeah, he's been horrible. Sixty one percent this year, sixty
nine percent his career, his career. Early his career, he
was making them. He's seventy seven percent early in his career.
Speaker 3 (57:08):
Yeah, what a ROSSI what are his defensive metrics?
Speaker 1 (57:11):
I mean great? I mean, well let's see. Uh, I mean,
what do you want?
Speaker 5 (57:14):
Like a defensive wind shares?
Speaker 1 (57:16):
Mat you want? Plus? You said defensive metrics? Oh, you
just mean like steals and blocks?
Speaker 3 (57:22):
Yeah, I mean I I when I watch when I
when I'm calling you honest game, which I only call
two games a year, concerned the Eastern Conference, obviously, and
I want to watch a little bit here and there.
Speaker 1 (57:30):
I mean for his physical.
Speaker 3 (57:31):
Stature, you would you would think he'd be a guy
that would be tough to score on.
Speaker 1 (57:34):
Yeah, about to steal a game? About a block? One
point two blocks per game?
Speaker 3 (57:39):
Oh, I'll take one point two blocks per game. That's
really good. All right, to the phones we go. Let's
talk to uh Easy at eleven twenty two on seven
any Easy, Good morning to you.
Speaker 13 (57:50):
Good morning, mister Thomas.
Speaker 17 (57:51):
I don't know what the Golden State I Air is doing. See,
but that call with Bisco was a little ooh cringey.
It's taking about the Jonas. Who would you give up
to pick up that? And uh, the second thing I
was gonna bring up, Uh, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
Speaker 9 (58:08):
Man.
Speaker 11 (58:08):
Then the second thing was gonna bring up.
Speaker 17 (58:09):
Do you all see Marttin Mantonado out there in San
Diego doing this thing?
Speaker 12 (58:15):
Uh?
Speaker 11 (58:15):
I'll hang up and listen, gentlemen.
Speaker 3 (58:17):
All right, I know he was in town when the
potters were here recently. I honestly don't pay attention to
San Diego Pottery baseball, so I don't know what is he.
How is he doing?
Speaker 11 (58:25):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (58:26):
Sorry, I was Martin Maldonado.
Speaker 3 (58:28):
Uh not Well, well, I mean you're you're presuming let's
take a look at the old let me look it
is Martin Maldonado.
Speaker 1 (58:34):
Okay, Yeah, I'm sure he's hitting three fifty with an
ops a nine hundred. Well, I mean that's now. If
you were listening to that last call from my buddy, easy,
you would presume that he's saying, look what he's doing
out there in San Diego. So he's hitting two o
nine with an ops of five oh six. He's got
a negative war negative point three.
Speaker 3 (58:51):
Okay, So easy, my friend, we went out and looked
at what he was doing out in San Diego. Two
oh nine, nine hits, one home run, forty three at back.
Speaker 1 (59:00):
Okay. So he's basically Martine who's been a negative player. Yeah,
all right, so there's your answer.
Speaker 5 (59:06):
Great for him.
Speaker 3 (59:07):
I'm sorry Johnas's concerned. I I I don't know.
Speaker 1 (59:11):
I mean, well, do you want to hear the athletics
proposal please? Albrynsching Gooon, Jalen Green, Cam Whitmore, Jock Landale,
Amen Thompson.
Speaker 3 (59:28):
Not happening, stop right there.
Speaker 1 (59:29):
Twenty twenty five lottery pick that would be this year's
and then a twenty seven Phoenix pick. Here's the one
I'm seeing. This is from clutch fans.
Speaker 3 (59:41):
It put in an hour ago, Amn, Jalen Cam, Donovan
Klingen twenty twenty five, Phoenix first, twenty twenty seven, Phoenix
first twenty twenty nine first.
Speaker 5 (59:53):
Yeah, that's that's the same trade. That's from the athletic
It's the same trade.
Speaker 1 (59:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (59:58):
Yeah, Rockets get antiped Goopo and Jeremy Grant.
Speaker 5 (01:00:01):
That's actually not bad.
Speaker 1 (01:00:03):
Here's the problem.
Speaker 3 (01:00:03):
Jeremy he can't stay healthy, but when he's healthy, he
scores like Jeremy Blazers get out bringing gun and Jack Landell.
Can I be very very honest with you and not
that under any circumstance. Rafel Stone and I break bright
when it comes to talking about who he's keeping who
he's not. I feel very confident in telling you Amn
(01:00:24):
Thompson's untouchable. I feel extraordinarily confident in telling you that
a man's untouchable.
Speaker 1 (01:00:37):
I get untouchable. But you're hoping he develops into the
player Jannis already is.
Speaker 3 (01:00:47):
I think, I mean, he's not.
Speaker 5 (01:00:49):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:00:49):
First of all, he's not gonna be honest, But I'm
talking about the style of type of player downhill transition
scores in the paint. I mean, are we thinking that
a men Thompson to years in he's shooting like twenty
percent from three? Are we think he's gonna be a
thirty five thirty eight percent shooter at some point, I'm
gonna I'm gonna use this comp I don't know, and
maybe most people in the NBA would not, at least
(01:01:10):
Houston fans wouldn't know a more.
Speaker 3 (01:01:13):
Effective scorer, a better andre Iguidala, a higher scoring andre Iguida.
Speaker 5 (01:01:22):
A better andre Guadala.
Speaker 1 (01:01:24):
Yes, who was basically a six Man of the Year
candidate several times did win a Finals, MVP Finals YEA,
and MVP of the Finals for holding Lebron to like
thirty six points per game We're all proud of you, Andre.
Speaker 3 (01:01:39):
I think defensive intangibles for Ema a dook would make
a huge difference.
Speaker 5 (01:01:45):
Well, Giannis has been defensive Player of the Year.
Speaker 3 (01:01:48):
So you're saying, if you're moving, if you're getting honest
here and a man is has to be a part
of the trade.
Speaker 5 (01:01:54):
Now, Uh, I don't want it to know.
Speaker 3 (01:01:58):
I know it's okay, it's gotta hurt. It does have
to hurt.
Speaker 1 (01:02:02):
Alprn would hurt Alpron's a little literal all star. You'd
have to find somebody who believes Jalen Green's got more ceiling.
Speaker 3 (01:02:13):
It is a double double machine now is officially in
the category of a double double. You are going to
be able to grab a double double machine as part
of between.
Speaker 5 (01:02:22):
He's a double double machine.
Speaker 1 (01:02:23):
Who's a field goal percentage has gone down in three
straight years from fifty five percent all the way to
forty nine point six.
Speaker 3 (01:02:34):
Okay, yeah, I guess there should be no untouchables. Ever,
it's what you're trying to say.
Speaker 1 (01:02:42):
I'm not really Look I'm scoffing at this too, but
I'm just trying to think out loud here.
Speaker 5 (01:02:49):
We love.
Speaker 3 (01:02:49):
You're saying, if you're getting Yannis and prime thirty year
old Yannis where he is right now, it has to stink,
It has to absolutely go oh, I don't want to
do this, but yannest Is that is what I.
Speaker 1 (01:03:01):
Think Jannis and what he's already proven at the NBA
level is higher than what the ceiling of any of
those players individually is. I think I don't think am
Men Thompson's ever going to be a good I don't
think he's going to be an MVP because Giannis is
literally won an MVP, right or two? How many MVPs
has he won? I think Aman Thompson's very good, and
(01:03:25):
he will improve and he'll get better, and he can
be around a twenty point per game score. He's at
fourteen now, can he get to twenty five? Can he
get to thirty? Can he get to thirty while being
a defensive Player of the Year candidate year in year out?
That's what he also, he's also at twenty years old. Uh,
you're looking at You're looking at potentially ten years.
Speaker 3 (01:03:44):
Of twenty points, eight rebounds, four steals, two blocks and
being your best defensive player, right and he want to
give all that up. I'm just saying, I'm just throwing
it out there for right now, a prime thirty year
old who's probably.
Speaker 1 (01:04:00):
Got three to four years of being that.
Speaker 3 (01:04:06):
That's that's the question you have, that's what you'm all over.
I will tell you.
Speaker 1 (01:04:09):
I will. I can say with confidence that Jannis is
what Jannis is right now is better than a men
Thompson will ever be um.
Speaker 3 (01:04:16):
Yeah, because Jannis is a generational player. A man is
an excellent basketball player.
Speaker 1 (01:04:20):
Yianness is scoring thirty points per game at sixty percent,
shooting twelve rebounds a game, six and a half assists
a game.
Speaker 3 (01:04:29):
I'll put it this wing. I'll get to a break.
I think when you trade for Durant it's stings. If
you trade for Giannis, it has to hurt. Does that
make sense to you?
Speaker 5 (01:04:37):
No, I think I I think Giannis has way more
value than Durant does.
Speaker 3 (01:04:40):
At this point. No, No, sting and hurt is two
different things.
Speaker 5 (01:04:42):
Okay, well, sting sounds worse.
Speaker 1 (01:04:44):
Oh No, sting is a beasting hurts. Okay, is like
baking a bone.
Speaker 3 (01:04:48):
Okay, So sorry if I didn't relate it.
Speaker 5 (01:04:52):
Yeah, I misunderstood.
Speaker 3 (01:04:54):
Sting is a mosquito bite. Oh, okay, like a beasting. Yeah,
besting hurt is like you've cracked your skull hurd? Is
you get a right cross from Mike Tyson? Oh all right,
let's get some more phone calls in. Then we'll get
time I'm sorries after that eleven twenty nine Sports Talk
seven ninety. All right, get the lines ready to go,
because in a matter of moments we're gonna ask you
(01:05:15):
guys to call in and ladies too, to say I'm sorry.
It's a Friday's Table of the Matt Thomas jold Ross
here from San Francisco seven one three two one two
five seven nine zero seven one three two one two
five seventy. Before we get I'm sorries, let's go back
on the phones and talk to the wonderful people that
are our audience, and we say hi to Blake on
(01:05:35):
seven ninety Blake, good morning.
Speaker 1 (01:05:37):
We're in Hey.
Speaker 18 (01:05:39):
I just wanted to uh come in on the Yannis conversation.
I know that we want to upgrade somewhere in the
power forward position. I mean, what's the potential in maybe
upgrading point guard. I know Fred has a huge contract.
If we take that team option, right, you know, potentially
(01:06:02):
we get a better, more consistent three point shooter and
a guy who can dole out a lot of assists
to help with our floor spacing.
Speaker 3 (01:06:12):
Uh so what are you saying, somebody to replace Fred
or somebody to back up Fred or combination? To me,
if you are replacing Fred, which I'm not sure that's
what they want to do. I mean, I think there's
gonna have to be a serious conversation about money and
(01:06:33):
what Fred wants to do and extensions and refinancing. But
I would like to see a Men Thompson with a
ball in his hands running point for the seam. I
think Ross he can do it.
Speaker 1 (01:06:43):
He's got a limited turnovers, get a little out of
control sometimes.
Speaker 5 (01:06:46):
He's getting better at that for sure.
Speaker 1 (01:06:48):
But yeah, if if you're having the air Apparent to
be your point guard it you would I think a
Men times And is a logical choice unless.
Speaker 5 (01:06:56):
You're a big read schepper believer.
Speaker 3 (01:06:58):
And and again I think Blake that Reid will get
every opportunity to make his way in the rotation next year.
I think he's going to have to have a very aggressive,
hard offseason to get his mojo back. I think it's
lost a little bit. I think that's not atypical for
guys that play one year in college basketball to have
a tough start, but I don't think the Rockets have
given up on him, and I think just this year
(01:07:20):
was just the moment may have been too big, and
I think he'll have an opportunity to get that shot
to what we're talking about. So could I see a
if you were to move on from Fred, whether it's
through trade or just not re signing him or you know,
I could see if it works out properly, a men
backed up by Reid as your kind of your starting
point guards or backup card.
Speaker 1 (01:07:42):
Yeah, I can agree with that.
Speaker 18 (01:07:43):
Hopefully we are able to restructure Fred because what does
that cap?
Speaker 1 (01:07:46):
At forty four.
Speaker 3 (01:07:47):
Million, it's big and like I said, I don't know
what the dollars and cents are on this because they've
got Steven Adams is a free agent coming up.
Speaker 1 (01:07:55):
Not that he would take a huge chunk of that,
but you know, and maybe you know. And thank you
for the phone call, Blake.
Speaker 3 (01:08:02):
This has been an unpopular opinion by some, but there's
gonna be contracts ross in the NBA with every team
that people are gonna go head scratcher. I think if
Fred comes back on that dollar amount, people are gonna
be like he's not shooting well, he's sporadic, he's getting
a little longer in the tooth. He's minutes have gone
down a little bit. I still believe there is that
(01:08:27):
Emay deals in value beyond what's on the paycheck. And
then it's statue and there's crazy, crazy trust in Fred
van Vliet. He's playing what ROSSI thirty nine minutes a
game in this series. There's a reason why he may
trust him to run his basketball team.
Speaker 1 (01:08:46):
And there's a reason why when he's out and missus time,
they struggle even more offensively.
Speaker 3 (01:08:51):
Yeah. So again, they're not going to give out any
any information and they're not telling any what they're going
to do with that. But I do believe there will
be a serious, closed door heart to heart with the
Rockets front office price and say, can we afford to
do this? Or does a Fred bringing back on a
(01:09:12):
team option? Does that limit us with doing something in
the greater big picture. Remember, the Rockets can also do
none of the above. They cannot kick the tires. I
mean I think they'll kick I think they will not
be interest. You know, they may not go after durant
if Gianna says he's committed to Milwaukee. It's a non starter.
I do believe they're going to figure out what the
next step is, or they very easily could say our
(01:09:33):
five best players A ROSSI are twenty five years and younger.
And look where we are right now.
Speaker 1 (01:09:38):
Yeah, they're a head of schedule. Did the philosophy of hey,
we're ahead of schedule anyways? These young players can get better.
Jalen Green can get better. Albrin Shagoon is already an
All star. Give Reed Shepherd another year development, same thing
for Amn Thompson, and let's run this bad boy back.
I could see that, and I would be okay with.
Speaker 3 (01:09:53):
That, because realistically, who are we to be afraid of
next year in the NBA? Here we are looking way ahead.
Are we to assume now you can say yes to this.
Are we to assume that Oklahoma City is going to
be a potentially a dynastic team.
Speaker 1 (01:10:13):
Yeah, I'd have to leave their payrolls and what they
got going forward because they don't like spending money long
term at Oklahoma City.
Speaker 3 (01:10:19):
But right now, yes, now, they will be wind up
paying uh shake yields Alexander seventy million dollars a year.
Speaker 1 (01:10:25):
Yeah, I mean chet is young still on a rookie deal.
Here's my point, Jalen Williams, I don't know. You don't
making the Lakers unless they retool, are not going to
be in that group to be fearful of the Clippers.
Speaker 3 (01:10:39):
James and Hart and Kawhi are long in the tooth.
Denver doesn't know what their coaching situation is and they're
about to be bouncing. They could be bouncing in the
first round.
Speaker 5 (01:10:50):
It's a game seven.
Speaker 3 (01:10:51):
It's a game seven if I lose on that help
me out anybody else in the West that Dallas.
Speaker 5 (01:10:55):
I don't know what Wolves.
Speaker 1 (01:10:59):
Edwards and and how long Rudy Gobert is gonna be
effective and Juli's Randall yep.
Speaker 3 (01:11:04):
But point being is this, there is nobody that's again.
Oklahoma City has had the best team all season long,
and they just finished off Memphis in four.
Speaker 1 (01:11:11):
But they haven't still have done yet.
Speaker 3 (01:11:14):
They haven't won their for they haven't even won a
Western Conference yet, much less put together several championships. So
if you weren't of the belief to keep it right
where it is with a with a with a tink
or of a slight adjustment here and there, that wouldn't
be the worst thought the Rockets could do either, because
again they're five best players are twenty five.
Speaker 5 (01:11:35):
Under you'd be you'd be hoping on internal development that
you would.
Speaker 3 (01:11:40):
Time for you to say I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (01:11:45):
Twelve four in h Town, good.
Speaker 3 (01:12:06):
Monster Rippers, and welcome in the third hour.
Speaker 1 (01:12:11):
I'm about Thomas shewing Ross. This is Sports Talk seven ninety. Jackie,
no Jackie either, Like Jackie Wilson, there's no men called themselves. Jackie.
(01:12:33):
You tell Jackie Robinson that I can't well, Matt hates
Jackie Robinson more. And then the next second Jackie used
to pick up the ladies and it works. I'm a
hot mess, baby, but I want you to be a
mess with me. You know who taught me that like
(01:12:54):
that Jonathan did back in the Bay. He was when
he when he was an embryo. I would never talk
something like that.
Speaker 3 (01:13:09):
He's thinking about having a beer in in the middle
of a game, which you know, thinking about it.
Speaker 1 (01:13:13):
Yeah, he's tapping the Rockies. Yeah, I mean some guys
drinking him up.
Speaker 3 (01:13:17):
Some guys are drinking Vitamon juices at halftime, Lucas looking
for a PBR.
Speaker 5 (01:13:21):
He's he's slamming a bush like Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:13:24):
He's got.
Speaker 5 (01:13:32):
Some closest place.
Speaker 12 (01:13:33):
It's neaters.
Speaker 5 (01:13:35):
Readers, Marie real readers.
Speaker 3 (01:13:39):
I don't know this, It's fine, it's uh Burger's chicken sandwiches.
Speaker 14 (01:13:43):
Why not.
Speaker 3 (01:13:44):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:13:52):
Thelma out rated, Velma.
Speaker 5 (01:13:54):
Underrated, by the way, exactly who Velma was.
Speaker 3 (01:13:57):
No way, I'm dapping for the win. Daphne won, and
then the jets and daughter number two.
Speaker 5 (01:14:05):
Okay, this is getting weird.
Speaker 3 (01:14:09):
You know, I'm a scaredy cat. I would say you would,
you would be you would take a loss if it
was I was one the one hundred, I'd run away
from the situation as fast as ponsible.
Speaker 5 (01:14:17):
No, you don't have a choice, man. You gotta pick
being eye poker or.
Speaker 11 (01:14:31):
You.
Speaker 3 (01:14:31):
When you get an age Ovie Lane, you must be
as fast as humanly possible your carts no.
Speaker 5 (01:14:38):
No, no, you gotta go minimum seventy eight minimum.
Speaker 3 (01:14:45):
By the way, Judy Jetson was a hotting Jane wasn't
bad looking either back in the day. If you think
about it, it is the Matt Tomas Show with Ross
on this Friday. We've got email dookee coming up at
eight minutes.
Speaker 1 (01:14:56):
Ross.
Speaker 3 (01:14:56):
If we present the audience right now at twelve o
seven the News at noon and we present to you
the Keith Oberman, a sports journalism.
Speaker 1 (01:15:06):
In Houstonsfield realitey did he wet himself on air or
something he did?
Speaker 3 (01:15:10):
Hear Ana, And I'm saying, all right, man.
Speaker 5 (01:15:12):
I don't want to be associated with that. And anyways, all.
Speaker 1 (01:15:16):
Right man, a lot of stuff going on. We will
hear from coach Udoka. We'll ask him about what's going
on with Game of six tonight, the Rockets taking on
the Golden State Warriors. That will be on sister station
news radio seven forty k t r H. It will
be a seven o'clock Rockets launch pad with yours truly.
Here was a Udoka said after game five about the
(01:15:38):
message to the team for game six.
Speaker 19 (01:15:41):
It's not just when the game, it's when the possession,
the quarter, the half, and stay locked in as far
as that. You know, however long it takes, whether it's
a quick start like tonight or grinding him out like
we have before and gotten back into games, we have
to figure out how to get it done.
Speaker 12 (01:15:55):
And so.
Speaker 11 (01:15:57):
With our group, I don't look at the home and
away thing.
Speaker 19 (01:16:00):
I look at how we're playing and how we're starting
into what our focus level is, and so go go
to go and stay do it and put some real
pressure on I'm bringing it back here.
Speaker 5 (01:16:09):
Got a lock in, Matt for game six tonight.
Speaker 3 (01:16:12):
I'm locked in.
Speaker 1 (01:16:13):
I was locked in yesterday, if you say so for
our flight all right, Astro settling in for a weekend
set in the South side of Chicago fromber tonight, Hunter
Brown Tomorrow one ten to start and then Sunday one ten.
Lance mccullors junior, Matt, did you make your official predictions
(01:16:34):
for his line?
Speaker 13 (01:16:36):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (01:16:36):
Slightly under four innings, Like I'm thinking three and two thirds,
somewhere in that range.
Speaker 5 (01:16:40):
I got a complete game shutout.
Speaker 3 (01:16:42):
I love that idea. That's optimism.
Speaker 5 (01:16:44):
I'm feeling really optimistic. Okay, maybe I'm lying all.
Speaker 3 (01:16:48):
Right, else, we're in the news, Matt.
Speaker 1 (01:16:49):
As we mentioned Greg Popovich stepping down as the Spurs
head coach, interim coach Mitch Johnson already named as the
head coach of the San Antonio Spurs to usher in
their new era with Victor Webbin Yama coming back from
deep vein thrombosis and Brian Winhor saying they're in the
mix for a possible Iannis trade.
Speaker 3 (01:17:10):
So you're telling me the Spurs next year in theory possibility,
not probability, but a possibility of Baron Fox Victor Wembinyama.
It's the fine castle, and yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:17:21):
The goop castle's got to be part of that trade.
Speaker 3 (01:17:24):
I would think.
Speaker 1 (01:17:24):
So that again, it's got to not sting.
Speaker 5 (01:17:26):
It has to hurt, which is worse.
Speaker 1 (01:17:30):
Yeah, hurt hurts. Okay, sting is temporary, that's true. Well,
I mean you pinch your arm, you could hurt.
Speaker 6 (01:17:35):
So.
Speaker 3 (01:17:35):
I don't know what if I hit you with the
two by four.
Speaker 5 (01:17:38):
You know that's that's called assault, man, You'll be going
to jail.
Speaker 3 (01:17:42):
It still hurts.
Speaker 5 (01:17:43):
I will sue you to the full extent of the law.
That seems he King would have stick. Gonna be mine,
all right, we'll put it on the market.
Speaker 1 (01:17:49):
All right.
Speaker 5 (01:17:50):
Anyways, Uh are we done here? You want one more
news item?
Speaker 19 (01:17:55):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:17:55):
One more sure?
Speaker 5 (01:17:55):
Okay, let's go.
Speaker 6 (01:17:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:17:58):
Well, you know we were trying to get early out
early for Udoka. I know, just one more thing, Okay,
one quick thing. Jalen Brunton with a big three pointer. Whoa, whoa, Hey,
the Knicks defeat the Pistons. Three point game winner from
Jalen Brunton. He scored forty points in the contest. They
eliminate the Pistons. Nuggets lose at the Clippers. We're on
(01:18:21):
to game seven in that series.
Speaker 3 (01:18:23):
Who wins that series? I think Denver wins that game seven.
And once again James Harden will not go believe to
one in five in game sevens in his life.
Speaker 1 (01:18:32):
Well, he had twenty six twenty eight points, six rebounds,
eight assists last night, so James Arden was pretty good.
Took over in that third quarter as well. And if
we get will we get another game seven in the
first round, Matt, Yes.
Speaker 3 (01:18:45):
Because the Rockets are gonna win the night. Now we
have two game seven and that's your new double loss
for me. That's your news it noon, Thank you very much.
All right, let's get to emy A Doka. He joins
us in less than five minutes here on the Matt
Thomas Shold Ross. But for grab, coach I Meyodoka right
now for a few minutes before he gets ready for
the team shoot around, which will be getting ready for
tonight's game number six Rockets and Warriors. We'll start it
(01:19:05):
off at seven o'clock on KTR. Each tip time at
eight o'clock here from the Bay Area coach. First of all,
congratulations on a spectacular win in game number five. They
must win the mantra obviously in effect. How are the
boys approaching and everybody feeling leaning into tonight's game in
terms of coming here, two close games, two winnable games,
(01:19:25):
and now you got to get one here to send
them hopefully back to Houston.
Speaker 11 (01:19:29):
Yeah, guys are feeling confident.
Speaker 19 (01:19:31):
Obviously to your point, we had some really close games
and I had opportunities in both of them, and it
was time to flip the script. Obviously, you got to
win these games and then make a few subtle adjustments
to come out with a different outcome.
Speaker 3 (01:19:45):
The subtle adjustments, obviously, you want to keep those close
to the vest as best you can. Have you been
surprised by the different number of lineups that Steve has
put out there against you guys so far in this series.
Speaker 19 (01:19:55):
No, I wouldn't say that, obviously, Butler being injury was
part of it. But you know, some of the things
we're doing with our matchups have given them some problems,
and so they want to put more threats out there,
and you know, try to pick on Alpy and pick
on different guys and not have the favorable matchups that
we like, and so we've adjusted well to them, and
it's just a chest match back and forth. Our big lineups,
(01:20:16):
there are small lineups and everything in between. And obviously
the team that adjusts on the fly quicker and obviously
in game will have an advantage.
Speaker 3 (01:20:25):
You're such a smart man when it comes to staying
away from social media, and for that I applaud you.
I cannot do that. So what I've done is looked
around and everybody's given me their expert opinions on what's
going to have to happen for them to win the game,
or what's gonna happen for you guys. It feels like
to me, the overall sentiment is that Jimmy Butler's going
to have to have a bigger role offensively. You would
like to curtail that. What's the most effective thing you
(01:20:47):
think your guys have done to make him a non
effect of the last couple of games.
Speaker 19 (01:20:52):
Well, attention to detail with what he likes to do,
but the main thing is keeping them off the free
throw line. Obviously the game he had twenty seven year
twelve free throws twelve or twelve there and other than
that regard him. Okay, I think he was seven for
sixteen from the field, and if you don't put him
at the free throw line, nine of his twelve or
not not even on shots, they were just files. We
gave him off ball. I mean the one three pointer
obviously late hurt us. But keep him off the free
(01:21:14):
throw line. Stand down on the pump fakes and understand
he's trying to bay fouls is a big thing, and
he has his big games traditionally across the board. When
he gets the free throw line and he can get
his rest, he can get everybody else set defensively, and
so we got.
Speaker 11 (01:21:27):
To keep him off the line.
Speaker 1 (01:21:28):
ROCKETEC coach Emi Adoko with zero on Sports Talk seven
ninety coach. One thing that people don't really talk about
a lot nationally is when this series shifted from a
couple of days off between games to just one day
off in between games. I feel like that gives the
younger team in your squad the advantage.
Speaker 5 (01:21:47):
Would you agree with that?
Speaker 1 (01:21:48):
And just in general adjusting when a series does go
to the every other.
Speaker 19 (01:21:52):
Day, Yeah, I think you know, the fresher younger teams
of an event. Is there you got the main three
players are thirty five and over, and so the way
we want to be aggressive defensively and physical and and
you know, have attention to detail on these guys. You
want to make a tough on him every possession, and
so physically I starts to wear on you obviously mentally
(01:22:12):
as well, and the freshness goes away when you don't
have two days of the rest.
Speaker 11 (01:22:17):
And so we like where we're at right now.
Speaker 19 (01:22:20):
Like I said, we can duplicate what we did last
game and be physical there.
Speaker 11 (01:22:24):
And without fouling. That's a that's a benefit to us.
Speaker 19 (01:22:26):
And you would think part of the reason they shut
it down early was to try to get rested up
for this game.
Speaker 1 (01:22:31):
Jalen Green looked like you had a bit of a
knee issue at the beginning of the game. How is
he feeling and what are your expectations for him in
game six?
Speaker 11 (01:22:40):
Oh, he's good to go. Jalen's always good. He's gonna
play through everything.
Speaker 19 (01:22:43):
He cut cut baseline and bump kneed to knee with
Curry and so literally came out, got some ice and
heat on it and it was good to go from there.
So minor bumped that he's gonna play through, as you know,
and just a quick stinger in the game.
Speaker 3 (01:23:00):
The free throws were going down, the jump shots were
going down. Fred's had two really good games. Honestly, to me,
if you guys win this series, I don't think it
has to be out being Jalen by himself. I love
the balance scoring, and obviously you want to get everybody involved,
but that hadn't been as pleasing about box score for
you to look at to see so many different guys
contributed in that game five victory.
Speaker 19 (01:23:22):
No, definitely, I think we've always been really good when
we have balanced and anybody can it could be the leader,
you know, as far as scoring that night, But to
your point out he had fifteen nine to nine. Obviously
you're not scoring a ton like he has in the thirties,
but the nine as sister because of the double teams
and intention the draws and he's making the right play there,
and so starters all in double figures. You had Aaron
(01:23:43):
with nine off the bench, Tarry with nine, Jabari with seven.
Those guys all obviously played a significant role, and so
we're hard when we come with that, with that balance
and coming those waves, and so anybody's night. Obviously, Dylan
with twenty four, a man with twenty five and with
twenty six is huge, But changed our team really attacks
well together and when the ball is moving around the gym,
(01:24:04):
guys are all sharing the ball and finding those shots.
Speaker 11 (01:24:07):
Like I said, it makes us that much harder.
Speaker 3 (01:24:09):
Look, you need to win, you need to win a
game based off of forty eight minutes. But there were
two stretches in game four here that really hurt. The
early start and then the eighteen to one start for
them in the third quarter. Obviously you want to erase that.
Is there anything do you chop up games like that?
I've actually had before, But do you think about those
five or six min integral parts of games that go, Hey,
(01:24:31):
this separates us from winning a close game like we
can do against this Golden State team.
Speaker 11 (01:24:37):
Definitely a big part of this series is to avoid
the runs.
Speaker 19 (01:24:40):
They're a big momentum team that gets going off of
turnovers and things of that nature.
Speaker 11 (01:24:45):
Putting them at the free throw line, and we did
all the above.
Speaker 19 (01:24:47):
Obviously, it started the game we had too many turnovers
that got out ran, and then to start the third
quarter it was a little bit more the same. But
love how We bounced back last game obviously forty to
twenty four in the first quarter, so we got extremely
well and we were obviously scoring at a high level,
so bounce back from that. I loved how the starters
came out there and then did the same thing in
the third quarter.
Speaker 1 (01:25:08):
This's been a very physical series with a lot of
trash talk, which I'm sure you love, and there's been
a lot of reviews for altercations. But what is it
like for you as far as talking to the team
about you want to keep that physical and mental edge,
but you don't necessarily want to give up free points
with technical fouls, and you also don't want anybody getting ejected.
Speaker 11 (01:25:27):
Yeah, it's a balance.
Speaker 19 (01:25:28):
If you understand both teams are being aggressive, you can
play physical without being dirty or anything like that. And
so for us, we know who they are, they know
who we are, and you got to avoid the antics
from certain guys and not get caught up.
Speaker 11 (01:25:41):
And then I think our guys have done a decent
job of that.
Speaker 13 (01:25:43):
Overall.
Speaker 19 (01:25:43):
There's going to be some physicality and things that happened
as far as that, but for the most part, if
you do get a technical or something, you move on
to the next play. But not getting bait into things.
That's the main thing, and so big, big theme going
into the series was not getting caught up in certain
things by certain players.
Speaker 11 (01:26:00):
Think we've done a decent job of that.
Speaker 3 (01:26:02):
For lets you're on Coach Pop announcing officially he's going
to step down as head coach. I know you have
been in contact with him over the last few months
in his recovery just from a what I learned from
the guy as a coach, as a as a as
a man that it's you know, been a huge part
of your life. Just a thought or two about the
legacy that he will leave San Antonio as a as
(01:26:22):
a coach of a multiple time championship team.
Speaker 19 (01:26:27):
Yeah, you know, bittersweet obviously, and and you know I
talked to him last week and knew it was coming,
and so for him, just happy that he's you know,
moving on at at peace and can spend time with
the family and he's in a good place. And so yeah,
I mean, he means everything in my career as far
as as a player. You know, the place I played
for the most of my career two and a half
years there and then spent seven as a coach. But yeah,
(01:26:50):
the lessons is It's funny you take these lessons, you
hear about them all these years, and then just random
times during the game, you start thinking about things that
he's either said or things you've uh witnessed with him,
and they go go into your mind in live game time,
and so so much, so many things.
Speaker 11 (01:27:06):
Obviously the best to do it, in my opinion, and
I got to.
Speaker 19 (01:27:09):
Learn from the best and his honor, And like I said,
well we'll continue, I'll go visit him after the season
and we'll continue to do what we've always.
Speaker 11 (01:27:17):
Done, have that relationship.
Speaker 13 (01:27:18):
But uh, you know someone I owe everything too, honestly, he.
Speaker 1 (01:27:22):
May thank you for the visit.
Speaker 3 (01:27:24):
Best of luck for you in the squad tonight, and
uh looking forward to getting us Game seven back in Houston, Texas.
Speaker 9 (01:27:30):
Thank you, you got it.
Speaker 3 (01:27:31):
Amy and Dooka with us here onto the Matt Thomas
Show and Ross and they are about literally about to
step on the court for shoot arounds. We appreciate him
grabbing a few minutes of his time before they do that.
Twelve twenty six, Sports Talk seven ninety If you want
to chew on anything that he may had to say,
seven one three, two, one two five seven, ninety seven,
one three two, one two five seven, Ninetie and Ross. Honestly,
maybe the best thing that happened out of all the
(01:27:54):
fracases is that Dylan Brooks is trying to stop fights,
which is something that you just don't see very often.
He was what's his career?
Speaker 1 (01:28:00):
He was pulling him in Thompson off of I can't
remember who it was that he dunked on. Yeah, yeah,
those good times.
Speaker 3 (01:28:06):
Yeah, all right, we are with you until two o'clock.
We have non Florida stories coming up in an hour
from now. Ross, where's your non Florida story.
Speaker 5 (01:28:14):
From Well, they'd be outside of the state of Florida.
Speaker 3 (01:28:16):
Matt, we're gonna I just texted Vanessa Richardson she's gonna
be at shoot around, so we're gonna see if she
can join us late in the one o'clock hour as well.
Before we get to those non Florida stories, get kind
of give us a perspective what's happening today at shoot around,
and then, believe it or not, today we going all things.
Ruth Buzzy, who I knew you were gonna say that.
(01:28:36):
A physical comedian, she was best known for her days
on Laughing. She was eighty eight years old. She passed
away today.
Speaker 5 (01:28:41):
May she rest.
Speaker 1 (01:28:43):
I hope. So I was thinking, Greg Poppach, Greg Poovich,
I mean I'm throwing a couple of Ruth Buzzy.
Speaker 12 (01:28:51):
I know I was.
Speaker 1 (01:28:52):
I was kidding. If you know who Ruth Buzzy is,
let us know. I don't think many of you do.
Speaker 3 (01:28:57):
But just saying no, yeah, all th Greg Papovich is.
He retires officially as the head coach of the San
Antonio Spurs.
Speaker 1 (01:29:07):
Whole question is up on the Twitter account. I did
it about Uh?
Speaker 3 (01:29:11):
I need three hours ago?
Speaker 1 (01:29:13):
Ross? Dang should I pin it? You think? Why?
Speaker 12 (01:29:16):
Not?
Speaker 9 (01:29:19):
Sure?
Speaker 5 (01:29:19):
Why?
Speaker 1 (01:29:20):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:29:20):
I'm gonna pin this tweet. Who do you got in
game number six? Only one hundred and ninety FI votes
are in. Do we have that lackluster of interest in
just making a simple poll question?
Speaker 5 (01:29:30):
Yeah, it's just your account's not that big.
Speaker 3 (01:29:33):
I don't doubt that. Frankly, I'm trying to get rid
of I think I've blocked close to ten thousand people.
Speaker 5 (01:29:37):
I'm very happy about it. Stop doing that, just let
it happen.
Speaker 1 (01:29:40):
No, I don't like to have.
Speaker 3 (01:29:41):
Fake accounts out there, and cryptos and porn stars and
just fake fake bot accounts. I like to be authentic.
That's what they called me. Mister authentic.
Speaker 1 (01:29:55):
Jonathan, you cannot comment. You got no, you didn't know
your role.
Speaker 12 (01:30:00):
Yeah he was.
Speaker 5 (01:30:03):
He thought he thought that that was a great line.
Speaker 1 (01:30:05):
Matt.
Speaker 3 (01:30:06):
Oh, okay, John, don't be so defensive.
Speaker 1 (01:30:09):
Matt. Well, I was like, oh I heard. Oh it was.
Speaker 5 (01:30:14):
The praises, you know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (01:30:15):
Okay, that's a.
Speaker 5 (01:30:16):
Cross eyed I don't know, it's weird.
Speaker 3 (01:30:18):
I mean I'm sixty hundred miles away from you, guys,
I don't know. I can't see your Rockets. Sixty seven
percent of you have the Rockets winning tonight, thirty three
percent Warriors. Okay, and again I put the tweet at
the very top of my Twitter account at sports empt
who you got Rockets in Game six? Rockets still holding
it a five and a half point underdog, Not that
(01:30:39):
that matters, only takes one point to win. Hey, what
why are you pausing? Because I'm just mulling things over.
Speaker 5 (01:30:51):
I mean, are we gonna be real or we're gonna
be blind homers?
Speaker 3 (01:30:55):
Well, we can do both, all right. Let me give
you the blind Homer take. Okay, the Rockets are physically
more gifted than the Golden State. Yes, okay, let me
give you that's just let's make that number one number two.
I don't believe Steph Curry is one hundred percent even
even if the legs. If the legs are okay, I
think the hand is not okay. And the Rockets are
(01:31:16):
going to do whatever they can, just like anybody would do.
Uh if if you were to exploit something that wasn't
working or heard or injured or ailed. I mean, that's
that's today's NBA number three. I still choose to have
glass half full on Jalen having a special game to
continue this series.
Speaker 1 (01:31:37):
Uh, and I I'm trying to even one more thing
go ahead.
Speaker 3 (01:31:46):
I can't imagine Johnathan Cominger that Brandon Pajemski is going
to hit six the reason the game again. He could,
Butler's gonna get twenty five. Curry'll be in this twenty five,
twenty six. You know what, if Gary Payton and Moses
Moody and Brandon Pajemski and Quinton Post and all these
other guys are going to win, then you need to
(01:32:06):
give them their flowers. I don't think they can do it.
So there's the blind Homer of me. The realistic viewpoint
is this Rockets have had a couple of opportunities to
win games in this series in this building and have
not done so. Free throws have been a season long
issue and in games that are close, you need to
be able to get to your number, and the Rockets
have still not shot their percentage even during the course
(01:32:28):
of the regular season. Curry does special things in the
big moments when the lights are brightest. Jimmy Butler has
been held in checked the last couple of games. You
would expect playoff Jimmy to come back out there. As
I mentioned to you yesterday, ross those mid range jumpers
that Alpi was getting the front rim, the back rim,
the side and dropping. Those tend to follow in a
(01:32:50):
home building that they don't fall on the road and building.
So he's got to be even more confident in that
mid range shot and have it with confidence staying on
a foul trouble. Again, history does play a factor. Golden
State's been there, done that, and the Rockets have not. Yeah,
it starts with me with free throws. Free throws, free throws,
(01:33:11):
paint scoring, especially in minutes when Draymond Green is not
on the floor, Whether it be a men Thompson Outbreadshing Goon,
I don't even care. Steven Adams put backs whatever, get
to the paint, especially when Draymond is not on the floor,
and continuing to just have that physical, physical defense without fouling, and.
Speaker 1 (01:33:33):
Draymond's gonna get is going to have an opportunity to
get into the heads of the Rockets at some point
in this game tonight and communicating well hopefully not yeah,
keeping your cool in those moments and then communication during
the zone defense. I think a few times, honestly, they
got lucky a little bit in games four and five
to where they everybody was getting lost in the zone
(01:33:54):
defense and there were wide open threes that weren't going down.
And the reality is, if you're going to deal in reality,
it's the percent.
Speaker 3 (01:34:00):
I just have said that Fred giving you three straight
games of highly efficient threes is not on the betting
side of things.
Speaker 5 (01:34:08):
Yeah, I'd love to see it.
Speaker 3 (01:34:11):
I'm gonna say this ear in the show. If they
can pull this off today, the Rockets are gonna go
to Game seven and they're gonna win the series. I'm
one with you, and but that's that. That's way in
the distance as far as I'm concerned.
Speaker 1 (01:34:26):
Yeah, in this series, Fred has had a two for
twelve night from three, He's had an eight for twelve
night from three.
Speaker 5 (01:34:32):
So let's get closer to the ladder.
Speaker 3 (01:34:35):
That's why to me, and I know the balance scoring
is something I brought up with you mag just a
few minutes ago.
Speaker 1 (01:34:40):
There's a there's a certain part of me that says, Jalen,
come on, we gotta get you to take off tonight. Yeah.
They have to be ready for blitz. Is they have
to be ready for I mean, he's got to be.
He can't be Oh, I'm just gonna get blitz. I'm
gonna throw the ball away and then I'm out of
the possession.
Speaker 9 (01:34:55):
He can't do that.
Speaker 5 (01:34:56):
He's got a he's got a reset. He's got to
cut to the basket. He's got to move a. He's
got to be.
Speaker 1 (01:35:01):
You can't just get shut down by by simple quick
double teams. She's got to go around those. He's got
to try to split them. You can't just allow that.
You can't just say they're taking the ball out of
my hands. I can't do anything. Throw your hands up
and throw it to somebody else. He's got to move
without got to be aggressive, yeah, and moving without the ball.
Speaker 3 (01:35:17):
Yes, absolutely, Let's go to Willie and Cyprus or twelve
thirty eight on seven ninety Willy, good afternoon to you.
Speaker 14 (01:35:24):
Matt, Good afternoon.
Speaker 1 (01:35:25):
Ross.
Speaker 14 (01:35:25):
Appreciate your efforts.
Speaker 1 (01:35:27):
Matt.
Speaker 14 (01:35:27):
Briefly just to point out something and you're it.
Speaker 13 (01:35:31):
Let me to do so right.
Speaker 14 (01:35:32):
You mentioned you kind of delete Orange Stars, but product
of calling Outlastrippers is kind of a little bit in
the network of that. You know, I guess job choice,
so you know, give that thought. Let me did to
make those choices, and kudos for you to doing that.
With that said, just a little bit on Jalen Green,
and I appreciate sports thought because you get the many
(01:35:52):
faceted perspectives from fans. My perspectives of that being I
did take close attention to Jayalen Green the last three
games of the season. I know that's the time to
get healthy people, to get you know, ready for the playoffs.
That said, if you look at some of the greats,
maybe it's right to do this. Maybe it's not to
compare him to those, but a Kobe mindset, even a
(01:36:12):
Steve Nash in preparation of the playoffs, if you are
the man your mindset has gotta be I gotta do this.
If no one's with me, a Chagoon, I gotta be
ready to mentally to go out and attack, figure out
what I'm gonna do. That said, yes, progression does need
to happen to Biscus point, he does need to go
through it to persevere. But mindset, mentality, Uh, if you
(01:36:34):
just look at Jalen Green, just the overall, that's something
I was concerned about going into the playoffs. I wanted
to see that go get it mentality and that kind
of plays into your point. Other areas of contribution that
he can make just haven't been consistent enough, and that's
kind of why the the indictments out there. I think
obviously he still has to grow, but part of that
was what is his mentality going into a situation where
(01:36:57):
he's just a man by himself. Chagoon's not there, others
aren't there.
Speaker 20 (01:37:01):
What are you gonna do?
Speaker 14 (01:37:02):
And from that I like your perspective on that point,
and I'll hang up and listen.
Speaker 5 (01:37:06):
Appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (01:37:06):
Thanks for the phone call.
Speaker 1 (01:37:08):
Yeah, he I don't need to score thirty ross.
Speaker 3 (01:37:14):
I don't, but I.
Speaker 1 (01:37:16):
Twenty to twenty five efficiently well, problem is like three
of eight from three Jalen isn't.
Speaker 3 (01:37:23):
It isn't even when he gets to the twenty to
twenty five, it may take a more shots than you
probably want.
Speaker 1 (01:37:27):
Well, he's gonna have to No, he's gonna have to
get to the free throw line. He's gonna have to
be aggressive. Honestly, he's got to get calls. I think,
just in his career for whatever reason, he sometimes because
he looks a little out of control and they won't
call it even though he is fouled. Yeah, but you
cannot in this series right now, Shangun is leading you
in basically everything, points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, whatever.
Speaker 5 (01:37:49):
Jalen Green is fourth in points. That cannot be that.
That's not a recipe for success for this Rockets team.
Speaker 3 (01:37:57):
All right, I'll make it simple. I don't think the
Rockets can in the night if he's under twenty points.
Speaker 1 (01:38:02):
Hmm.
Speaker 3 (01:38:04):
I mean in theory or anything is possible.
Speaker 5 (01:38:06):
I get that, Yeah, I know. But the your key
to victory, the.
Speaker 3 (01:38:13):
The I feel better about things is that he's and
I'm not saying he's disinterested at least mentally, but the
box score can't lie if you're only taking eight shots
and you're just out there and and look he make
and feel it if he knows it, he's pulling him.
Speaker 1 (01:38:29):
And he did.
Speaker 3 (01:38:30):
We've seen it, and he's done it before in in
play in a playoff series.
Speaker 1 (01:38:34):
He's pulled him in a playoff series. There's eleven seconds
left in the game. The Rockets are down one. Coachy
Dooka said, this young man cannot help me win the
game was out there instead?
Speaker 3 (01:38:43):
Yes, yeah, I think it really comes down to the starters.
I really do. I And and look, Steven Adams has
been fantastic in his defensive rebounds Taris and has had
its moments. Who else am I forgetting about?
Speaker 13 (01:39:00):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (01:39:00):
Jabbari a men's Yeah, Jabbar has been good and men's
have some good moments.
Speaker 3 (01:39:05):
Yeah, I kinda I kind of want to Jalen Green
because I do root for Jalen and if you guys
got to know Jalen you would root for him.
Speaker 1 (01:39:15):
Umm. But the evidence is if he if he's.
Speaker 3 (01:39:19):
Four of sixteen the night and is not an integral
part of his team and turns the ball over. There
were some the turnovers he had in Game four was
it ROSSI with Buddy Heel guarding him right at.
Speaker 1 (01:39:29):
The three turnovers right away react a bad pass albren
Shingoon buddy, heel pokes one away and then he's just
like spinning, dribbling, doing and one dribbling drills at the
top of the key and losing the ball. Yeah and
and yeah, I think two of the maybe two of
those resulted in buckets.
Speaker 5 (01:39:46):
This can't happen.
Speaker 3 (01:39:49):
Not trying to put too much on Jaalen Green's plate,
but Jalen Green's about to.
Speaker 1 (01:39:52):
Be a focus up and don't lose your mind. Yeah, exactly.
He's making a hundred million dollar. He's not making you know,
max max money. But you were drafted number two overall
and he's got to be better. You cannot have three
out of four, well, four out of five, we're eleven
points are fewer.
Speaker 5 (01:40:11):
We call it double digits. I mean that's ten. He
got eleven.
Speaker 1 (01:40:14):
It's not like he was going off right, So four
out of five eleven points are fewer in this series.
That is not acceptable. And you know what, he knows it.
Speaker 3 (01:40:23):
He's not he's not watching a different game that we're watching.
I promise you on that twelve forty three matten Ross
with you here. I'm here in San Francisco for game
six seven one three two one two five, seven nine.
If you want to jump in, we'll talk to Jimmy
and De Paul. We come back. We want you guys
involved as well, and ladies don't be afraid to call
the show either. Seven one three two one two five
seven Niney Vanessa Richard's going to join us. At one
(01:40:44):
twenty one thirty we have Don Florida stories and at
one fifty today it is Helly iron out all things
about Greg Popovich you've not heard. He is officially retired
as the head coach of the Houston Rockets, ticking on
a team of the Santornio Spurs. I should say, uh,
taking on a presidency rose his name, Mitch Johnson, is
that the new coach?
Speaker 1 (01:41:02):
Rossie? Is that who it is?
Speaker 9 (01:41:03):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (01:41:04):
I said it earlier. I think that's correct. Yeah, yeah,
Mitch Johnson.
Speaker 3 (01:41:08):
Yeah, oh. Took over for pop when he left because
of the stroke. Twelve forty three Sports Talk seven.
Speaker 1 (01:41:14):
Ninety Ladies and gentlemen.
Speaker 3 (01:41:17):
On every Tuesday, we do gut feelings on this radio show,
and uh we usually will save the bragging four said
gut feeling hits to Tuesday but I just felt like
since the calendar month turned yesterday, Rosseille, I remember I
told you that Alex Bredman was going to about eight
hundred ops in a month of April. How'd that go?
Speaker 5 (01:41:39):
You gotta be over rigeling.
Speaker 3 (01:41:41):
I originally had it an eight fifty, but I downgraded
to eight hundred years right, I talked you down, you
talked me down.
Speaker 1 (01:41:47):
I finished.
Speaker 3 (01:41:47):
He finished the month of April with an ops of
nine to seventy eight.
Speaker 5 (01:41:52):
All right, well that's gonna dive bomb.
Speaker 3 (01:41:55):
Seven home runs twenty six are beyond my stolen base
three twenty six.
Speaker 1 (01:41:59):
The average he's hitting three twenty six. He's never hit
three hundred in his career for a season, his curer
batting average is two seventy four. He's three twenties next
six and again it's only one month. But yeah, he's
got a cool off. He's gonna they're all off or
he's ounting out and getting a big time deal.
Speaker 3 (01:42:17):
They're only they're only two games about five hundred, I mean,
making that big of a difference.
Speaker 5 (01:42:22):
Well, just think of where they would be without him.
Speaker 3 (01:42:25):
Poof, and where the Astros would be with him. Although,
oh you suck is doing okay, mister triples power.
Speaker 1 (01:42:31):
Yeah, he's suck. Yeah, triples power, he'suck. Paradise has been good.
Speaker 3 (01:42:35):
Yeah, and batting average isn't great, but he's still doing
his thing. I mean, still hitting the uh Crawford box,
home runs, fielding his position, probably a lot better than
we thought he.
Speaker 5 (01:42:44):
Was going to be honest with you, Yeah, he's been good.
He's been a lit now. He's not been super ranging,
but a little bit more ranging than I was expecting.
Speaker 3 (01:42:52):
Yep, Jimmy and Tom Ball to twelve fifty on seven
Hot Jimmy, thank you for wedding in a good afternoon.
Speaker 21 (01:42:58):
Good afternoon, guys, Happy Friday. And uh but Matt, uh,
I know it's a couple of segments late, but I'm
gonna just issue and I'm sorry ahead of his comment,
but I gotta.
Speaker 13 (01:43:09):
Call you out.
Speaker 21 (01:43:11):
You were talking about sting versus hurt, and you said
hurt is worse. Well, Eya Dooko just now said that.
Speaker 11 (01:43:18):
Uh.
Speaker 21 (01:43:19):
You know, Jayalen bump knees with Curry and uh got
down a little bit of ice and heat and just
a little stinger. I mean, if he was hurt, he'd
come out of the game a little. He specifically said
just a little stinger.
Speaker 3 (01:43:32):
So I so basically you're it's actually furthering on my point.
Speaker 1 (01:43:35):
Sting means he can't play. I mean he can play
hurt as he can't play stings. He's out there, he's playing.
It's just a sting. It's good. I'm right, you're right.
Way I apologize, say you're sorry. Sting's hurt. Do stings
hurt or hurt sting? Sting?
Speaker 3 (01:43:54):
No, sting's hurt?
Speaker 5 (01:43:55):
Well, what about a hurt sing?
Speaker 3 (01:43:57):
A hurt sting means you're probably closer to just be
generally hurt.
Speaker 5 (01:44:01):
But what if it hurts after it stinks, then you're
definitely hurt.
Speaker 1 (01:44:04):
Hm.
Speaker 3 (01:44:05):
But it's not just a sting anything else.
Speaker 1 (01:44:08):
Jimmy, I believe not he. I think he took his law,
he took his out and left.
Speaker 5 (01:44:15):
Thank you, Jimmy, appreciate you.
Speaker 1 (01:44:17):
Yeah, he said it was a sting, So stings me
and he gets back on the court is worse.
Speaker 3 (01:44:23):
No, hurt is worse than sting.
Speaker 1 (01:44:27):
Go to the original how you said it the first time,
because now I confused.
Speaker 3 (01:44:32):
If a b stings you, okay, that's a sting.
Speaker 1 (01:44:37):
You put some neo sporn on it. You're done.
Speaker 3 (01:44:39):
You get back to doing your deadly life. If you
hurt your ankle, it swells up and you probably can't
walk and you're in pain.
Speaker 1 (01:44:47):
That hurts.
Speaker 3 (01:44:47):
What if it's just a little hurt, I still say
a little hurt is greater than a sting. What if
it's a big hurt, that'd be Frank Thomas then. But
now I said, come on, now you thought that's hit it,
(01:45:09):
Let's go to Paul and Mareland on Anything that goes Friday?
Speaker 1 (01:45:14):
Hi, Paul, Hey, what's going on? Ross? And miss you
on the miss you on the Nightcap. I'm sorry, Paul
was not successful the first of all, it was a
highly successful show. The ratings. The ratings were pretty good.
I'm just saying, hey, hey, I just throw the facts
out there. I'm just throwing the facts out there. The
ratings are pretty good. But they attacked on an extra
(01:45:35):
hour to this show, Paul. So that's my four hours
a day.
Speaker 22 (01:45:39):
Yeah, And I'm sorry to hear you haven't to get
up so much earlier in the morning. I know you're
letting me here, night person.
Speaker 5 (01:45:44):
I like to sleep in. If I have to wake
up before noon, it's early for me.
Speaker 1 (01:45:47):
Paul. That's what I'm talking about.
Speaker 22 (01:45:49):
But I just wanted to pay my respects out to
Ruth Buzzy watching her slap Ardie Johnson upside the head
with her purse when he'd make a pass at her
on that park bench. One of the best parts of
the laugh In. So you all have a great weekend,
and let's go astros and let's go rockets.
Speaker 3 (01:46:06):
There you go, Paul, thank you very much. Yeah, Ruth
Buzzy would hit Artie Johnson all the time on uh
who Artie Johnson. He was also another comedian on that show. Okay,
do you don't.
Speaker 1 (01:46:16):
Even know what laugh In is? Do you really know
what it was?
Speaker 5 (01:46:18):
It was a comedy variety sketch kind of show.
Speaker 3 (01:46:22):
Yeah, it was basically Saturday Night Live in the late sixties.
Speaker 5 (01:46:26):
H But was it live?
Speaker 3 (01:46:28):
No, It was before its time, all sketches. It was
like hee haw, but not country no no no, no, no,
no no way, way, way, funnier way, more edgy, like
study out live edgy, but for Prime sixty late again.
Speaker 1 (01:46:46):
I never saw it obviously live or on record. I
always saw the YouTube videos or old shows.
Speaker 3 (01:46:54):
Perhaps it's most famously known for Richard Nixon was the
I believe was president at the time when he made
a guest appearance on the show and his most famous
line was socket to me on that show.
Speaker 1 (01:47:07):
And he was wasn't that the million dollar question? The
first guy that won a million dollars? Who wants to
be a millionaire?
Speaker 3 (01:47:14):
That you might be right about that?
Speaker 1 (01:47:16):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:47:16):
And the guy called his dad is like, Hey, Dad,
I'm good. Just want to let you know I go
to be a millionaire.
Speaker 3 (01:47:21):
How good is that? You ever called your dad like
that before? No, I've always called my dad and said Dad,
can I borrow a million dollars? Forgetting about getting of
the million dollars?
Speaker 1 (01:47:29):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:47:29):
I think it was Richard Nixon said socke to I
don't know if if Socker to me was on that
show with a lot of people singing, but yeah, he
he was on that. That was one of the most
famous moments in TV history, was having a current president
go on a sitcom and do that. The most famous
laugh in star. Can you guess who that would have been?
Speaker 5 (01:47:50):
Of all the stars on that show, that would be
Dom DeLuise.
Speaker 1 (01:47:54):
No, I'll give you a hint, female blonde movie star
of the Goldie hon Oh, you got it right. How
did you get it?
Speaker 3 (01:48:05):
You looked it up.
Speaker 5 (01:48:05):
I didn't. My hands are up.
Speaker 3 (01:48:08):
There's no way you would have just randomly said Goldie hawn. No,
it's no chance.
Speaker 1 (01:48:11):
You don't want to tell you how I know be
the witness. Yeah, you want to tell you how I knew?
You brought it up before, like years ago?
Speaker 3 (01:48:16):
Oh did I Okeay?
Speaker 1 (01:48:17):
Yeah? How do we feel about Goldiehn's daughter, Kate Hudson,
big fan?
Speaker 5 (01:48:23):
She seems great. How do you feel about her?
Speaker 1 (01:48:27):
Terrific?
Speaker 9 (01:48:29):
Yo?
Speaker 3 (01:48:30):
Ahx hopo grosses. Everybody used to say it on the show,
socker to me, So she knows.
Speaker 11 (01:48:34):
So.
Speaker 3 (01:48:34):
I guess it would get celebrities to come out on
the show and say soccer to me. Okay, Like I said,
I don't think I've ever watched a full episode. Yes,
and in Diesel few Costa Nicol, don't go old West.
Though it was nineteen sixty eight, it wasn't that far.
I mean it was a long time ago.
Speaker 5 (01:48:50):
It is a while ago, Maddie.
Speaker 1 (01:48:52):
But you went nineteen thirty three on and the number
one car was the Ford Fair Lane. We loved our
Ford Fair Lanes.
Speaker 3 (01:48:59):
You know what I'm gonna have you do your voice here?
We got one minute left in a second. Why don't
you give me your nineteen sixty eight I have Woodstock?
Speaker 5 (01:49:08):
Yeah, man, what's up?
Speaker 15 (01:49:11):
Man?
Speaker 1 (01:49:12):
You're watching laughing? That's more than the what's his name Brewer?
Jim Brewer, Yeah, Jim Bury. Tommy Chong, Yeah, yeah, that's Geese. Man.
Speaker 5 (01:49:20):
You know Cheech and Chong are reuniting for a movie.
Speaker 1 (01:49:23):
Yeah. There, I think is Chech eighty six? Man, there's
somewhere somebody's eighty six. Gordy Sin is Hurt and Sting
and it's Jalen Hurts and Derek Stingley. We were supposed
to say, the Semantics battles for two to six. Matt
(01:49:44):
What am I? I don't get this?
Speaker 3 (01:49:45):
Hurt Sting? What does this mean?
Speaker 1 (01:49:47):
Jalen Hurts and Derek Singley. We've been ordering about Hurts
and sting this whole time.
Speaker 3 (01:49:52):
Oh oh my god.
Speaker 1 (01:49:53):
Yeah, come on, Gordy, I'm thinking about Socker to me
on laughing.
Speaker 5 (01:49:58):
And nobody's thinking, well you and the octagenarians everywhere.
Speaker 3 (01:50:03):
I'm thinking about you going back to your nineteen sixty
eight voice.
Speaker 5 (01:50:06):
All right, you want to just talk like this, man.
Speaker 1 (01:50:09):
Mama's in the papas are playing there. They gotta go
check him out. They're groovy.
Speaker 3 (01:50:14):
That's horrible too.
Speaker 9 (01:50:15):
That was great.
Speaker 3 (01:50:15):
But what was worse my Bill Cosby of two hours ago?
Speaker 5 (01:50:18):
That right there, Bill kozy about the show to a
screeching halt.
Speaker 1 (01:50:22):
No it did not.
Speaker 5 (01:50:23):
Did hear the dials turning?
Speaker 3 (01:50:24):
No they don't. You didn't want to go listen up
to Texans draft evaluations at this point?
Speaker 1 (01:50:29):
Still no, they listened to this show?
Speaker 3 (01:50:31):
Got too all right?
Speaker 1 (01:50:33):
Uh yeah, hurt Or Stingley. Hmmm, good job Gordy. Let's
Gordy stepping up his game. Listen to the show. God
love him all right?
Speaker 3 (01:50:41):
Final hour of The Matt Thomas Show, with Ross coming
up here. We're gonna check him with Vanessa Richardson in
twenty minutes. Non Florida stories in thirty and hell yeah,
are not all things about Greg Popovich? Plus your phone
calls at seven one three two one two five seven
Hot oh four Sports Talk seven hunty. We are down
to fifty six minutes of this vidio program. I want
(01:51:01):
you to come say hi to it. Seven one three
two one two five seven ninety Rate in Spring will
start with you to manner moments seven one three two
one two five seven ninety Ross Pole question is up
two hundred and fifty eight votes are in. Still six
hours and twenty six minutes left to vote, if you
so choose who you got in game six, Rockets seventy
one percent so far, the Warriors at twenty nine percent,
(01:51:22):
which is a little bit closer to what people had
had in the previous games of the series. Rossie, time
to put your name on it. I'm going to clearly
put it on the Rockets because that's my team. I
call their games the absolutely zero interest in me watching them.
The Warriors won on this home floor, so the purely
bias in me steps in and says, Rockets win it
by five.
Speaker 1 (01:51:43):
I hate you.
Speaker 5 (01:51:44):
I was gonna say one O four to ninety nine, all.
Speaker 3 (01:51:48):
Right, Taking those two numbers and subtracting it, it's five points,
all right, fine, one O three to ninety nine, okay,
so lower scoring than what we saw obviously in game
number five of the series. Yes, okay, pick the click
and I'll let you go first.
Speaker 5 (01:52:07):
I'm gonna keep it simple. Alprin shangoon out down.
Speaker 1 (01:52:11):
See, you know what we got a problem with these
and gentlemen, he can go Johnson, I just think way
too much alike and He's always embarrassed by it.
Speaker 3 (01:52:18):
Now I'm embarrassed by it.
Speaker 1 (01:52:20):
Um.
Speaker 5 (01:52:21):
Okay, fine, I'll swap. I'll pivot to him and Thompson.
Speaker 3 (01:52:26):
Like a late steel dunkers.
Speaker 1 (01:52:29):
Three steals, twenty points, close to a triple double, do
twenty points, eight rebound, seven assists. I think Alpy.
Speaker 3 (01:52:40):
Has more success against Draymond Green than he's had so
far in the series. I think Alpi will find Quentin
Post and try to posterize him multiple times.
Speaker 1 (01:52:50):
Okay, that's a plan. Words, I'll see you there. I
think Dylan's Dylan.
Speaker 3 (01:52:58):
I think Fred probably not, probably more than likely, wouldn't
give you the type of offensive numbers. Although he's gonna
he still got a tits and threes.
Speaker 5 (01:53:06):
Yeah that's okay, Just don't go two for thirteen.
Speaker 1 (01:53:08):
Yeah, he's gonna, he's gonna get his looks.
Speaker 3 (01:53:12):
I could see maybe Tarry Eastan having a little bit
more of an explosive game offensively the time he's on
the floor, just kind of just fun, trying to find
some little things here and there.
Speaker 1 (01:53:20):
Okay, yeah, I'm gonna go.
Speaker 3 (01:53:24):
I don't know the number, but I'm gonna go Rockets
by five because I am purely biased I want them
to win.
Speaker 1 (01:53:31):
I don't like the Warriors.
Speaker 3 (01:53:33):
They're mine. They're my, hands down the least favorite team
in the NBA, and even close. I think it's so
cute that Steve Kirr wants to change the rules about
UH players being able to hit hands af their shots
are taken after they've been doing this in the NBA
for hilarious. Oh man, the whining.
Speaker 1 (01:53:51):
You know what, I forgot what a bunch of whiny
punks Warriors fans were and their broadcasters are too.
Speaker 5 (01:53:57):
Oh my god.
Speaker 3 (01:53:58):
Zach Lowe, who's an NBA expert, had been around a
long time. I think most people that follow the amazing
he goes on his podcast, it's like, isn't it rich?
The Golden State Warriors are, he says, the hands down
most biased NBA television crew out there. I could see that,
and that for a team that employs as many I mean,
(01:54:19):
we can say thugs because Draymond's a thug, right, thuggish player,
not a fuck is human being.
Speaker 1 (01:54:25):
But he's an enforcer. Matt Well, he's a dirty player.
Draymond's certainly a dirty player.
Speaker 3 (01:54:30):
Enforcer, dirty player that they're the ones complaining about how
people will go for swipes and no, if there's swipes
in their fouls, their fouls, but you're gonna you know,
and and Steph's had plenty of those in his life
as well. Jimmy's gonna score a bunch of porns tonight.
I feel confident in that.
Speaker 5 (01:54:48):
I don't think. I don't think I'm sure about that.
He's he's a hit, he's not moving.
Speaker 1 (01:54:52):
I don't know. He's still hurt. He's playing hurt and
they're playing every other day.
Speaker 3 (01:54:56):
Yeah, Uh, Curry's still gonna get his points. I just
don't need Brandon Pajemsky to score twenty six points.
Speaker 5 (01:55:04):
Yeah, I think.
Speaker 1 (01:55:07):
Not a key to victory because there's nothing you can do,
like like if Buddy Healed and Brandon Pajemski start going off.
It is what it is. But I I think on
the flip side, a key to victory for the Warriors,
if we were doing Warriors Radio, would be those guys
need to do something. One of those guys needs to
go for like twenty.
Speaker 3 (01:55:22):
Because I'll take my chances with Moody. I'll take my
chances with Gary Payton cutting into the lane like he did.
Speaker 1 (01:55:30):
Buddy.
Speaker 3 (01:55:31):
He could be a sneaky pick as a third go
to guy, I would just say, if they have three
big scores as compared to their normal two rockets in trouble,
mm hmm, you get single days from everybody else, Like,
for instance, Draymond Green, you know, scores those early threes,
sets some momentum and then he kind of goes back
(01:55:53):
into his normal shell. I don't I don't need Draymond
Green knocking down three three.
Speaker 5 (01:55:57):
Keep taking threes. I'm okay with that man.
Speaker 1 (01:55:58):
Keep taking them.
Speaker 3 (01:55:59):
I just don't need to make any of them. Let's
go to the phones and talk to people. We'll talk
with Vanessa Richmond coming up in about ten minutes from
now as well. Let's go to ray On seven ninety
at one oh nine. Ray thanks for holding a good afternoon.
Speaker 15 (01:56:11):
Good afternoon, guys, wonderful show, great take on Jalen Green.
We just need to see him, see him show up strong,
and maybe everybody else to do their jobs.
Speaker 12 (01:56:19):
Hey.
Speaker 15 (01:56:19):
I don't know how you guys got on the ruth
Buzzy thing, but actually there's a sports angle to this comment.
The funniest thing Ruth Buzzy I think ever did was
the Dean Martin celebrity roast of Mohammad Ali. If you
have not seen that, it is unbelievable. Howard Cosell is
totally Howard Cosell. Billy Crystal makes his first appearance on
(01:56:43):
television doing his Howard Cosell and Billy Crystal excuse me,
and his Muhammad Ali. Apparently him and Mohammad became very very.
Speaker 5 (01:56:51):
Close after that.
Speaker 15 (01:56:52):
But anyway, she Ruth Buzzy goes off on Muhammad Ali
and it is hilarious.
Speaker 3 (01:56:58):
And she's in character correct, and she's in the bag character.
Speaker 15 (01:57:01):
She hasn't left She hasn't left character since the sixties, okay,
but anyway, she it's just YouTube Dean Martin celebrity roast.
Some of the humor is a little bit dated, you know,
because they were ruined. They were like the mel Brooks
humor in that you you you're you're out overt because
you're trying to make fun of racism. So some of
(01:57:23):
the humors a little bit. But my god, Billy Crystal
is everybody went nuts. That was the start of Billy's
career by standing up there and doing his his feel
with Muhammad Ali. And of course everybody tries to rap
and try to be Muhammad Ali. But it is It
is definitely mussy YouTube.
Speaker 3 (01:57:42):
Okay, well, Ross got something to do at two o'clock today, Ray,
thank you for the phone call.
Speaker 1 (01:57:49):
Did you did this?
Speaker 3 (01:57:50):
Is there another radio show in the marketplace that's going
to give you two ruth Buzzy calls in one.
Speaker 5 (01:57:55):
Show, probably for the better for the other shows?
Speaker 3 (01:58:04):
Would you rather cuss and discuss Texans linebackers or get
into a ruth buzzy deep dive.
Speaker 5 (01:58:12):
Texans linebackers?
Speaker 3 (01:58:13):
All right, let's go to uh Vince in Midtown at
one to eleven on seven Honey High.
Speaker 1 (01:58:20):
Vince.
Speaker 12 (01:58:22):
Hey, how are you guys doing good?
Speaker 9 (01:58:25):
Hey?
Speaker 12 (01:58:25):
You got I'm wondering I got a follow up too.
Speaker 11 (01:58:29):
I'm wondering why Gabari Smith isn't playing more in this series.
Speaker 12 (01:58:34):
I feel like when the Rockets made their last run
during the season before they set out all their players,
he was one of their most effective, efficient players, and
it's like he's barely getting any minutes in my opinion
this series.
Speaker 3 (01:58:49):
I don't think barely is a term I would use.
Speaker 1 (01:58:52):
He's played twenty five, four, six, two, and then fifteen.
Speaker 3 (01:58:55):
In the blowout.
Speaker 1 (01:58:57):
Yeah, I wouldn't say barely. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:59:00):
I don't think the Rockets need Jabari to play thirty minutes.
He just I mean, he's just.
Speaker 1 (01:59:06):
The fourth go to guy on an offense, right, I mean.
Speaker 5 (01:59:09):
Yeah, he's good.
Speaker 1 (01:59:11):
He's doing it.
Speaker 3 (01:59:11):
He's playing his role.
Speaker 5 (01:59:12):
He's knocking down threes.
Speaker 12 (01:59:15):
Okay, well, let me ask you this. So so, so
let me ask you this. So let's just say the
Rocket the difference the let's say the off season difference
between whether they get knocked out the first round or
if they advance to the second round. How do you
think the front office will proceed?
Speaker 3 (01:59:34):
Uh, that is a great question. I'm gonna tell you this,
and I've mentioned this a bunch, and thank you Vinci
the phone call. Just the sense I get, is.
Speaker 1 (01:59:44):
There going to go on a sabbatical ross you know,
maybe go to like two Creeks cross Res or I
don't know, I they'll go there or not whatever, and.
Speaker 5 (01:59:51):
They will or a tropical island.
Speaker 3 (01:59:53):
Or a tropical island, or they go to Vegas, or
they'll go somewhere nice and they're gonna they want to
get away from it all and they'll have this super
high nice week in Dallas and Texas exactly at the
Saint Louis. That's one of Tillman's properties. They'll open up
a conference room and they are going to have some
really tough, hard, brutally honest conversations. But they're good problems
(02:00:20):
to have. You know, if you're Phoenix, you're like, what
do we do with Durant? What do we do with Booker?
If you're Milwaukee is sunk? You know what I'm saying,
those done uninteresting, painful. This is fun and interesting, but
still I don't know if opinions could shift on a
(02:00:41):
game to game basis, a season a season basis. But
I think literally, they're going to put everything on the table,
and I think you're gonna probably have some people in
the room that could be Tillman. It could be Patrick Furtita,
it could be Emay, it could be Rafel, it could
be any one of the many lieutenants that are going
to come up with a compelling case to say I
(02:01:02):
think we can do this. And I mean, and I'm
not trying to cop out, I'm just telling you that
is the sense I get when Raful and I have
talked about this very informally. He's like, Matt, we're gonna
talk about everything, and that does include keeping the core together.
They don't have an itchy trigger finger. But the question
(02:01:25):
is going to be when this season is done.
Speaker 1 (02:01:26):
Whenever it's done, wrongs, it's how close did we get
and how far are we with the current group we
have to get to over the next level to get
to the top of this Western Conference. Yeah, I mean
to me, it's very simple. Is Albrin Shingen kind of
continue to grow and get better? I think the answer
is yes. Is Jalen Green going to continue to get
grow and get better? And I think the answer is yes.
(02:01:47):
It's but are they going to get better enough? Better men?
Thompson I'll throw in there as well. To win us
a championship, that's what they have to decide. They don't
have to do anything. They can run this team back
and I don't think that's like general managing malpractice. They
run this team back there they're a fifty win team
next year again, I think so, And if you get
(02:02:10):
more improvements, they're already had a schedule. This is the
thing we're talking about them and head of schedule, he
won a championship.
Speaker 5 (02:02:14):
How do we come for the thunder? They were barely
supposed to be in the plane this.
Speaker 3 (02:02:17):
Year because if you ross if you get anything from
Reed Shepherd next year, that's a perimeter jump shot off
the bench you're looking for, it'd be nice. All right,
let's check in with Vanessa X one fifteen. It is
a Matt Thomas Old Ross. This is Sports Talk seven
ninety twenty one. Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 1 (02:02:32):
Matt and Ross with you.
Speaker 3 (02:02:33):
I'm here in San Franusco for Game for six Rockets
and Warriors. Radio is seven forty KTRH. Television is Space City,
and you need to watch Vanessa Richson, who's going to
join us right now on the show. She is at
a shoot around Vanessa before we get to the Rockets.
I got an email from a friend of mine says,
ask Vanessa who her favorite Sex and the City character is.
(02:02:54):
So I'll go ahead and answer that.
Speaker 20 (02:02:55):
Interesting. Hey, I have never seen it, but I feel
like I would connect with Who's the one that's really funny,
the one.
Speaker 12 (02:03:06):
That you like?
Speaker 13 (02:03:07):
Right?
Speaker 1 (02:03:08):
I like Samantha. Samantha is my favorite.
Speaker 20 (02:03:10):
Okay, yeah, I've never seen it. Somehow, once again, you
have more female tendencies than I do. So I'm sorry
that I let you down.
Speaker 1 (02:03:18):
That's personal and we'll discuss this affare here shortly all right,
you are at shoot around.
Speaker 3 (02:03:24):
Give us the vibe right now.
Speaker 20 (02:03:26):
Okay, so I just left shoot Around and I'm actually
at the mall because that's what women do, we shop.
Speaker 19 (02:03:33):
The vibe is good.
Speaker 20 (02:03:34):
The vibe shoot around was very, very focused. I think
when you take inventory of what we've seen so far,
these guys are growing game by game and uh, not
only are they focused, but they're very self aware and
they know what they need to do. They know that
they need to be aggressive, they know that they need
to hit first. And so I'm excited to see tonight.
(02:03:56):
You know it's on the road. It's going to be
a very hostile environment. But I know that our guys
can handle it.
Speaker 3 (02:04:02):
You know the things that we've we've been trying to
diagnose this thing throughout the course of the show. Today.
I need be better free throw shooting. I want Jalen
invested early in the contest. You've watched his body language,
obviously being on the court as much as you have been.
What are you sensing from him as you will watch
him through these last couple of games and obviously getting
ready for today when you were a shoot around, does is.
Speaker 1 (02:04:25):
He where it is it? Is he trying to be
business as usual. What's going through his mind? Do you think?
Speaker 20 (02:04:31):
I think the good thing is he understands what he
has to do. And myself and Lisa Salters, who is
sideline of course tonight for ESPN, you know, we were
able to interview Jalen after shoot around and she, Lisa
actually asked him to you know, self scout, and he's
he's not happy with his performance in the playoffs so far,
you know, minus of course, not one game. I believe
(02:04:51):
it was Game two in Houston where he absolutely went off.
So he Look, you and I are both around Jalen.
We know how good of a person is. We know
how hard these guys work. And you know it's not
just showing up and playing basketball. They have a whole
routine all day. So I believe in Jalen. And there's
something to be said about this being the first playoff
(02:05:12):
series for so many of these guys. And I remember
a men telling me Amn Thompson told me he didn't
feel like he played like himself until the end of
the four the fourth quarter of Game four. I mean,
it's like it's taking some of these guys a while
to adjust. That's part of having a young team. So
I very much believe in Jalen. He's focused, he's very
(02:05:34):
self aware, and I think he knows he needs to
come out aggressive tonight. That's what he said in the interview,
So look for that for sure.
Speaker 3 (02:05:41):
You have been on the floor for these games in
this series, and we've seen so many technical fouls and
flagrant fouls. What is your as you watch this from
your vantage point? How ridiculously intense and maybe at times
absurd has things gotten between these two guys in terms
of mouthing off and talking and getting each other's minds?
Speaker 20 (02:06:02):
Well, you know me, I love old school basketball. I mean,
I love aggressive, intense. I love the double triple big,
I love you know, the trash talking I think is
a lost art and so I love it. You know,
look like call it both ways is my only thing
with anybody that's refereeing a game. And I'm not saying
(02:06:22):
they haven't done that. I'm not, but I just I
would like the whistle, you know, being consistent, I think
is something that the guys look for. But I I've
enjoyed the fact that it's intense. I've enjoyed the fact
that the Rockets have not backed down against a veteran
established team, and you know the fact that Dylan Brooks
had to hold him in Thompson back the last game
(02:06:43):
I thought was really funny as well.
Speaker 12 (02:06:45):
So I like it.
Speaker 20 (02:06:46):
I really like you know, and obviously I'm fortunate to
have a very good seat. You'd be surprised that the
things that are said that the broadcast does not pick up. Yeah,
so you know, we are not you and I do
not cover a team that's known to be quiet. And
you could take that, you know, whatever way you'd like,
but it's it's there on camera Emay chirping at Lebron
last year, and you know, Dylan and Lebron and then
(02:07:10):
Emay and step and Jimmy Butler and Dylan, like, we
do not cover a team full of guys that are
shy and quiet. So I really enjoy it and hope
to see more of it, as long as everybody's safe.
Of course, I don't want anybody to get hurt, right.
Speaker 3 (02:07:24):
You know It's funny that because you would think you
could go to e May or any of the players
and say, man, what do you think about all this
Draymond stuff, and you got, yeah, Spencer head Bunning and
they're kind of ambivalent to it because that's kind of
how they're built in a certain respect.
Speaker 20 (02:07:41):
Yeah, I mean I think I you know, I did
realize Emay and Draymond were as close and had as
much respect for each other as they did until I
interviewed Emy before the playoffs began, and he couldn't say
enough good things about Draymond and called him the heart
and soul of the Warriors team. And you know, obviously
Emy worked with Draymond a little bit with Team USA
as well. So I think these guys have a respect
(02:08:04):
for each other. And I think the other thing people
need to keep in mind and fans need to keep
in mind sometimes what is said at the podium or
what is said in interviews, sometimes there's a little bit
of a strategy there, right, So you know, take out
whatever way you want, but whether it's saying something to
maybe ignite the other team or ignite your guys, you know,
(02:08:27):
there's a little bit of a mental game as well.
But I May has said you have to beat Draymond
physically and mentally. That's going to be a big thing tonight.
Speaker 1 (02:08:38):
All right.
Speaker 3 (02:08:38):
Last question is, obviously we were all kind of putting
our names on and how what's going to happen, close
your eyes. As long as you're not driving, what you're not,
you're at the mall. Give me the scenario. Give me
if the Rockets win, how does it happen? How close
of a game is it? And give me, like the
last thirty seconds of what's going to happen tonight if
the Rockets win.
Speaker 20 (02:08:56):
Pretty much, pretty much all of these games have been closed.
I think it's going to come down to, let's make
the free throws, so the Rockets give themselves a chance.
You know, you've heard the Rockets have their mottos. Sometimes
you sometimes meet always us. So it either needs to
be a very very balanced scoring sheet or you need
(02:09:17):
Jalen slash Alpi slash Amen or like Fred just you know,
makes nine threes. You either have to have the balanced
scoring sheet that the Rockets team has thrived under, or
you need one guy to just step it up and
make every shot. So I'm really looking forward to it.
I think there's a lot of scenarios that could happen.
But again, the coaching staff has said, this is not
(02:09:38):
just a physical series, this is a mental series, and
I think our guys, I very much believe in them
and I'm saying Rockets and seven.
Speaker 3 (02:09:47):
Oh from your mouth the basketball God's ears. Thank you
Vanessa so much. Enjoy your shopping and we'll see you
at the arena later on this afternoon.
Speaker 1 (02:09:53):
Thank you.
Speaker 20 (02:09:54):
Akay see yeah, thanks Matt.
Speaker 11 (02:09:55):
See.
Speaker 3 (02:09:55):
That's Vanessa Richardson with us from Space City Home Network
at the mall, enjoying a little pregame shopping and so
Rockets and Warriors play tonight again. It's going to be
seven o'clock on kt r H with the Ross Villa
Reale lead launch pad, which is gonna be I believe
you've got a chance to make a Pulitzer Prize winning
and performance out of that.
Speaker 5 (02:10:15):
Do you know now, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (02:10:16):
It's very difficult to win a Pulitzer Prize map, but
I don't even give it away.
Speaker 3 (02:10:20):
For King or the Kendrick Lamar pregame host hosts.
Speaker 1 (02:10:23):
No, not quite, not quite up to that level. Map,
But I'm trying. I'm trying to right, trying to be
stronger every.
Speaker 3 (02:10:28):
Day seven thirty Network pre game with Adam Clinton and
then I'll have to call at eight o'clock here from
Chase Center.
Speaker 1 (02:10:34):
Non Florida stories are up neck.
Speaker 10 (02:10:39):
rEFInd interesting stories that sure outside the state of Florida
and share them with the people.
Speaker 1 (02:10:50):
Of hust It's time for not Florida.
Speaker 17 (02:11:01):
I'll time for non Florida.
Speaker 1 (02:11:10):
Store from coast to coast.
Speaker 12 (02:11:13):
Upgrading strange and wild.
Speaker 10 (02:11:18):
No alligator tales, but something that will make you smile.
Speaker 1 (02:11:26):
It's time for laughs from foreign and wild. In this
crazy world. There's nowhere.
Speaker 3 (02:11:44):
Excuse me, get over, punter time down for a weekly
second we call non Florida story is. This is where
we h go find stories that we think our interest
to you. The only one rule is it cannot be
from the state of Florida unless one of us is
in the state of Florida. Ross, mind's a short story
this week. It's not gross. I guess in some respects
(02:12:05):
it could be gross. Mine are usually work a little blue,
but that's not here nor there. Ross and Jonathan, do
you guys brush your teeth on the regular?
Speaker 1 (02:12:14):
I would hope you guys did too, Yes, twice a day. Well,
I'm glad to hear that.
Speaker 19 (02:12:21):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (02:12:21):
Usually you do it once at night before you go
to bed, and once probably when you wake up in
the morning. It can go on with your day. Correct,
and you know what, there's always that minty fresh, there's
always that bubble gum.
Speaker 1 (02:12:32):
Maybe there's just a generic. You're always trying to figure
out ways.
Speaker 3 (02:12:36):
To really add flavor to your to your toothpaste. Correct, Okay,
all right. There is a website called his Mite. It's
actually his Smile. H I s I m l E.
It's a it's a website, and I did look at
it the legit and uh. It was recently selling a
flavor of toothpaste that's sold out in forty eight hours.
Speaker 1 (02:12:58):
The flavor Kentucky Fried Chicken.
Speaker 3 (02:13:06):
The product is currently available only in the United States,
but it's already sold out. The toothpaste is a blend
of eleven herbs and spices delivery.
Speaker 5 (02:13:14):
So it's original recipe and not extra crispy.
Speaker 3 (02:13:17):
Designed to delivered quote the irresistible feeling of biting into
a piece of hot, juicy, original recipe chicken. Now, I
do like original recipe chicken. I'm way more than I
like the extra crispy. I'm with you on that, but
I do not want to brush my teeth and have
the breath of eleven original herbs and spices on my
(02:13:40):
breath all damn day long.
Speaker 1 (02:13:44):
Smell disgusting and it's sold out and it sold out
in forty eight hours.
Speaker 3 (02:13:52):
Kentucky Fried Chicken toothpaste.
Speaker 5 (02:13:55):
That's disgusting.
Speaker 3 (02:13:58):
Why are we doing this? This same company, in twenty
thirteen created a cupcake flavor toothpaste, which I somewhat get.
The second flavor they also came up with the twenty
thirteen which is hard for me to understand, is bacon.
Why do you want to smell like bacon all day long?
(02:14:18):
Why do you want to smell like Kentucky Fried Chicken
all day long?
Speaker 5 (02:14:21):
I put a little bacon grease behind my ears every day.
Speaker 3 (02:14:24):
That is nasty. I'm just kidding. And that my friend
is friends are is my non Florida story. The KFC
toothpaste currently unavailable, selling out in forty eight hours.
Speaker 5 (02:14:36):
Hmm, who.
Speaker 3 (02:14:42):
Thank you, Matt. That was thank you.
Speaker 12 (02:14:45):
You're welcome.
Speaker 1 (02:14:46):
Incredible gripping as they say, you know what I'm gonna
go next? Matt okay man, are you familiar with the
military conflict off the coast of Yemen? I am not.
Please inform me. Not really, I'm not really informed on
it either, But apparently out there is the USS Harry S.
Speaker 5 (02:15:06):
Truman.
Speaker 1 (02:15:07):
It is an aircraft carrier off the coast of Yemen
where apparently you know, there's uh, there's stuff going down,
missile attacks, fire, all that type stuff that's terrible to hear. Well,
while the aircraft carrier was under attack, unfortunately they had
to make a hard turn and an faaighteen super Hornet
(02:15:28):
fighter jet fell off the aircraft carrier into the water.
A sixty million dollars fighter jet just completely fell off.
The boat has sunk and now is lost at sea.
Tax players dollars a gone. The aircraft carrier was making
(02:15:54):
a zigzag tacket tactic. Unfortunately the fighter jet was not
secured and it just rolled off the boat into the water.
Speaker 3 (02:16:03):
Okay, first of all, this is a terrible story because,
as Jonathan brought up, we're losing money on this right,
this is gonna cost us some mixed significant dollars and
submarine should never zigzag correct.
Speaker 5 (02:16:16):
No, well, yeah, it's an aircraft carrier.
Speaker 3 (02:16:18):
Aircraft carrier, they should not be zigzagging anywhere.
Speaker 1 (02:16:23):
Who gets fired for that?
Speaker 5 (02:16:24):
I don't know. There's an investigation underway right now.
Speaker 1 (02:16:28):
Who's running this?
Speaker 3 (02:16:29):
Do we have a corporal's name, we have a lieutenants in,
we have a captain's name.
Speaker 1 (02:16:32):
We need names, captain, don't. I don't have the captain's name,
unfortunately for you right now, Matt, okay, So what's the
end result on this? I think we're just out sixty
million bucks is what I'm reading. This can affect my
four o one k Underney circumstances, I don't think. So
(02:16:53):
are you invested in Boeing or Raytheon or whoever?
Speaker 3 (02:17:02):
Highly depressing?
Speaker 5 (02:17:05):
I'm sorry, Matt, No, we should all be sorry.
Speaker 1 (02:17:09):
I am. So what's the end result? Where's where is
this missile?
Speaker 3 (02:17:13):
Do we know where it is?
Speaker 5 (02:17:14):
It's a it's a fighter jet, it's a whole fighter jet.
Speaker 3 (02:17:16):
No, it's oh I thought it was a missile of
the whole j So where is it?
Speaker 1 (02:17:21):
Is it like down with the Titanic.
Speaker 5 (02:17:23):
Yeah, it's underwater. Now we're getting a movie out of it, hopefully.
Speaker 3 (02:17:29):
With a girl in the in the in the car,
in the car naked taking getting a portrait made of
her what.
Speaker 1 (02:17:36):
Like in Titanic. Then then off the coast of Yemen.
You haven't seen Titanic, Well, I guess that makes two
hours trying to do it. It is very lak It's
not that it's like three and a half. Now, come on,
Oh yeah, let's see, let's Titanic a run time. Let
me look three hours and fifteen minutes. Yeah, so you
were embellishing. You gotta put into like the ads and
(02:17:58):
like you know, pond Wait. You can get you can
get two weekend at Bernie's Movies and and one one Titanic,
Matt And you can also get a popcorn in a box.
We talked about that yesterday. Remember well, I told you
I saw that movie at the Magic Johnson Theaters. I
didn't realize it was three and a half hours long,
almost and I was holding That's the most I ever
had to pee at a movie theater.
Speaker 3 (02:18:17):
I was like, all, hold it, No, you need to
go to the bathroom during it.
Speaker 12 (02:18:19):
No.
Speaker 1 (02:18:20):
I was like, a movie's almost over, it's been an
hour and a half. We're probably good, right A little,
did I know? Shout out to the Magic Johnson Theaters
on the North Side. I wonder if they do the
popcorn bucket way they rest.
Speaker 5 (02:18:37):
I think that they're folded. Is there any Magic Johnson
theaters left in the world.
Speaker 1 (02:18:41):
I don't think so.
Speaker 11 (02:18:42):
I don't think so.
Speaker 3 (02:18:43):
All right, Charlie, what do you got?
Speaker 1 (02:18:45):
All right?
Speaker 23 (02:18:45):
I got a guy for Dann McConaughey, thirty, from Glasgow, Scotland.
The story goes he assumed that he was dead and
had an air affection for a couple of years and
his hearing had became impaired, the Daily Record reported on
April fifteenth. But one night he had woke up with
a surging feeling impressure in his head and something starting
to move.
Speaker 1 (02:19:05):
He had thought his ear had ruptured.
Speaker 23 (02:19:07):
He felt something small, hard, sort of pop out and
he was absolutely terrified, thinking it was a bug. So
when he tried to on his phone light it turned
out to be a tiny one by one piece of
lego covered in wax, digged into his all the way
down his ear. Mc conachiy said he hadn't played with
legos since he was a child, and he's been having
(02:19:28):
this ruptured like this ear infection for at least ten years.
Speaker 1 (02:19:31):
Oh my god, Wait, wait.
Speaker 3 (02:19:32):
A minute, you would have a ten year earache and
you wouldn't have it looked at before then.
Speaker 5 (02:19:36):
It was twenty years he had it, apparently, and.
Speaker 23 (02:19:42):
He says, I don't remember sticking the brick in my ear.
I genuinely had no clue it was in my ear
all that time.
Speaker 3 (02:19:50):
God, do you hear anything stuck in the earboys, e're
wax a woman's tongue.
Speaker 1 (02:20:00):
It wasn't stuck, that's true. I didn't think of it
quite that way, Jonathan. I'm sorry, this man is corrupting
your brain. No, he finished the line. I just threw
the question out.
Speaker 3 (02:20:17):
I had him. He finished it. So there was a
lego in his ear for twenty years?
Speaker 5 (02:20:23):
Give her take?
Speaker 12 (02:20:24):
He doesn't.
Speaker 11 (02:20:25):
It's been there.
Speaker 1 (02:20:25):
He's had that pain for since like twelve years, so
who knows how long that thing was in the air.
All right, there you have it.
Speaker 3 (02:20:33):
So we have Kentucky fright toothpaste, we have an aircraft
carrier that's going to be a major l for our
American government, and we have a lego stuck in guy's
ear for twenty years. We just gave you the essence
of the non Florida stories.
Speaker 1 (02:20:49):
Thank you very much.
Speaker 3 (02:20:52):
By the way, Chuck sports Bar says, the carrier's CEO
and the airball should be relieved with duty. I think
that feels the right about right. Greatest movie involving a
submarine in an airship? I mean, are we gonna go with.
Speaker 5 (02:21:05):
What McHale's Navy Top Guns starring Kelsey Grammer.
Speaker 3 (02:21:10):
Oh that was a bad movie. You went with a
Kelsey Grammar movie in the middle on this show, and
you're complaining about the Ruth buzzy talk.
Speaker 1 (02:21:21):
Uh, you're gonna go with U five seven one. That
was a classic Crimson Tide Never Saw It? Oh, geez,
here we go.
Speaker 3 (02:21:29):
You me and Jonathan are the same categor We always
can go to the never saw It card way more
than anybody else can. What about doss boot? All right,
let's play Hell here dos Bolt.
Speaker 5 (02:21:39):
Was a classic?
Speaker 1 (02:21:40):
Yeah? Oh, the Life of Aquatic was Steve sisu Wes
Anderson film. Nope, it's kind of depressing, honestly. Oh, here
we go down periscope. Oh that was that was Kelsey Grammar.
WHI should I say? What did I say? Chal's Navy?
Speaker 5 (02:21:57):
That was Tom Arnold?
Speaker 13 (02:21:59):
Right?
Speaker 11 (02:22:00):
Oh?
Speaker 12 (02:22:00):
Hell?
Speaker 3 (02:22:00):
Then there was a re wasn't there a show? And
then there was a remake.
Speaker 1 (02:22:03):
Yeah, the show was popular in the sixties TV.
Speaker 3 (02:22:07):
Oh Man the oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:22:11):
The nineteen ninety seven films starred Tom Arnold, David Allen Greer,
Deborah Messing, Tim Curry, and Ernest Doord nine. Sneaky Hot,
by the way, What's sneaky about It? She's gorgeous. Well,
I do think people would. Man, you always say sneaky,
and this woman's like one of the hottest women on
the planet.
Speaker 3 (02:22:27):
I don't think Deborah Messing and hottest women the planet
in the same sentence.
Speaker 1 (02:22:31):
Okay, she's not one of the hottest women in the plane,
but she's hot, she's there's nothing, there's no sneaking around
about it. Oh that's good. I'm glad.
Speaker 3 (02:22:38):
I'm glad.
Speaker 1 (02:22:38):
We you you do not agree on that.
Speaker 3 (02:22:39):
Let's play a helly air or not? Next seven one, three, two,
one two, five, seven ninety All things about Greg Popovich.
Speaker 1 (02:22:45):
Next we play helly Air not one forty six Sports
Talk seven ninety pretty quick things rossy number one, whole question.
Still have five hours to vote. Rockets are Warriors seventy
three percent? Rockets Warriors twenty seven percent. That's more like
the lion we saw earlier than in the previous games
of the series.
Speaker 3 (02:23:03):
How about that? Okay, number two?
Speaker 1 (02:23:06):
What do you think about.
Speaker 11 (02:23:09):
J. J.
Speaker 1 (02:23:10):
Reddick saying that his team's got to get in better shape.
He's basically calling out one person.
Speaker 3 (02:23:14):
He's right, I mean, let's not He's not wrong. You're
not wrong. I think Luca got dohier in La.
Speaker 5 (02:23:21):
You think, Yeah, how did he get fatter in La?
Speaker 1 (02:23:25):
The food's dude out. The food's good, but it's all
a bunch of workout freaks. Yeah, it's a lot of
beautiful people. You think you look you feel like I'm
here in Houston. I feel like, all right, I could
lose a few You got to La. You're like, my god,
it's time to turn boleemic.
Speaker 3 (02:23:39):
Yeah, if you do, if you're carrying ten pounds of
pounds of belly fat, you're not gonna make.
Speaker 5 (02:23:44):
It in Yeah, I'm flowed probably below average in Houston.
