Speaker 1 (00:02):
Lunchtimers.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
This is the Matt Thomas Show, twelve oh three in eight, sound.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
Good, mornage trippers, gonna cut it off because we got
so late today.

Speaker 4 (00:24):
It's a Friday edition of The Matt Thomas Show. Went wrong.
This is Sports Talk seven ninety. I've got another shut
your ball mass up, you do, and we're gonna let
the man who's asked to be shut Huh, that's weird.
That's what we call you. The candy cane in they
call me mister chocolate, white chocolate. No, I'm dark chocolate.

(00:46):
You know what I'm I'm milk chocolate. I'm smooth and delicious.
I don't want to hear you see your flash in
my face? Your phone flash? Okay, clip that please. Well,
we're gonna ease anyway.

Speaker 5 (00:58):
And that roll off on the entire group.

Speaker 6 (01:01):
It rolls off on the office line, it rolls off
on the quarterback, it rolls off on the defense.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
I'm about doing the inflatables. Eleven dollars for three inches
four on a good day. I don't know, post alone,
squint country, Why can't heat they did? Yeah? Postpones one person?

Speaker 7 (01:16):
Mat?

Speaker 4 (01:16):
Oh, sorry, would you calm down? Wasn't that bad? I know,
good Dicus Cohunter Connor's laughing as it made me laugh.
How about Jamaico Ryan's making his first Friday New Open appearance. Damn,

(01:38):
Matthew slides in with one yes, and there Gordy is
in there. That's what I'm saying. We need more of
the other people in the station. I listened to the
station a lot, well, most day parts. There's something I
don't but that's yeah, we can figure that out. The
only time I really don't listen is between six and
seven on non game nights. That's huh. That seems wildly specific. Well,

(02:02):
I mean, I'm just being honest. Good after it, everybody,
but I gap on Sports Talk seven. Idys, it's next
to seven. It's basically a regurgitation of other shows. It's
not true at all. It's original programming last night, Okay, mean,
guess Texans offensive line issues? Well, we started off rockets. Yeah,
we did play a couple of Bobby Slowing bites. Gotcha

(02:24):
talking about the protection issues? Yeah, and then we went
a Trey Walker was producing. We went around the NFL,
talked a little bit, Pook and a coua and other
things going around the NFL, poking a coua. If you
weren't a sports fan and I said, y'all want some
pook and a coua, what do you think? I would say?
It sounds delicious. Pokin akua sounds like a like a

(02:46):
foreign country porridge, like an oatmeal on would you like? Hey,
there's special flavors of week. What do you got? I
gotta gotta got a special poo pooka Okay, sounds like
a paiea. Yeah, yeah, something something from a tropical island.
It sounds delicious, all right. It isn't anything goes Friday
herefron Yeah, I'm trying to say my voice. I feel good.
Still got a little bit of a cold, scratchy throat

(03:07):
that I think probably got from you, which is not
look like you're on your deathbed. No, I feel actually
I got actually energize a little bit. Your eyes are
sunking in them. I have been concerned about a couple
of things, and we will get to those on the
show today. Oh okay, Well, this is a bad day
for you, Matt. It's not a great day for a
lot of its warm blood.

Speaker 7 (03:23):
Mont.

Speaker 4 (03:23):
You're crumbling a little bit. There's I've received no less
than about five texts from my friends today, a variety
of listeners and or friends that are saying, did you
see the headline? So we'll discuss that here momentary. That's
pretty fun. Is anything goes Friday? Here on the show
seven one three two one two five seven ninety seven
one three two, one two five seven ninety Well at
one o'clock today, talk to Kelvin Samson. You these exhibition
games that they are. Usually you play like Outer Mongolia

(03:47):
or North central Arkansas or Eastern ass of Alaska. You
get to play like real good teams. Texasing and m
Aggie's and the Houston Cougars are playing a major. Oh,
it's just a major, a exhibition game that's gotta have
a little teeth to it. So we'll talk to coach
Sampson and I alreadly thought about what he expects from
his season. Cougar's coming in preseason number four in the nation. Wow,

(04:08):
number four in the nation. So by that metric, they
should make the final four. I would certainly hope so.
And second in the Big twelve Conference. That just shows
you how filthy Arizona, Kansas, Houston all in the same conference. Baylor,
I'm sure we'll not be far behind either. My guess
I didn't count, but I think there's at least six
teams in a top twenty five twelve. It's going to
be a tough basketball league. Yeah, football not so much.

(04:31):
But best we're getting there. We're working on it. We'll
talk about the Cougars, of course, if you want to
to breakdown with the Cougar's Utah game, if you would
like full breakdown, I wouldn't say full. I'll say maybe
a maybe a thought or two maybe tops Okay, I
don't know. We have the Texans going against the Colts.
We'll get an update on that with Derek Schultz from
our friends in Indianapolis. Used to work at that radio station,

(04:51):
but he doesn't work there any more, so we'll give
him a little plug. But he does about fifteen other things,
including a variety of podcasts. He's legit media. I'm on
the Colts like a mudda.

Speaker 5 (04:59):
You know.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
We'll talk to Derek Schultz at win thirty. We have
non Flora stories at two thirty. Hell y a now
at two fifty, and at twelve thirty today we're gonna
get to Taylor mathis a little bit here. I would
not say she's a friend of the show. I would
say she's been a conversation friend of yours. She lives
rent free in your hell Ross be better. I gotta

(05:19):
hate that term. I hate both those terms. That's why
I said it. Okay, So Taylor is in some trouble, yes,
and we'll explain, because honestly I didn't. I couldn't put
two and two together. So I went to you and
you were able to put it together for us. Yes,
you have a complete understanding of what Taylor Mathis got
in trouble for you. I saw tweets about it, and
then of course the first thing I thought about was
Matt Thomas, which I think, like you said, five of

(05:42):
your closest friends all texted you the same thing. Because
I will say, two really good friends of matter are
like and these are not like listeners. These are like
colleagues that are like, what happened to our girl? And
I'm like, I'm working on I'm trying to figure it out.
So if you don't know about Taylor, Mathis will be
discussing her at twelve thirty. And yes, we have moved
on to other people, but there's only one Taylor. Well,

(06:02):
maybe she'll unlock her account at some points and you can,
you could get back in there, and as long as
the Securities Exchange Commission is not going to be chasing
after her, it'll be fine. They're launching a probe. We
got that. We have another horrific call in the NFL yesterday.
Oh a non call. Yeah, non call, but basically so bad.
And we're talking about Minnesota Rams game. And by the way,
Rams put up thirty points. So if Minnesota's killing ourselves

(06:24):
over the one non the non face mask call against
Sam Darnold, how about your defense make a couple of
stops here, Like the Rams offense was just juggernaut all
year long. A little Cooper Cup came back in the
game yesterday. Fantasy defense zero points. Thanks Minnesota. Oh you
had Minnesota's defense in two leagues. Yeah, yikes. So we'll
get to that. We do have Game one of the

(06:46):
World Series coming up tonight. Did you see the umpiring
assignments for this I did not. Is it C. B. Buckner?
There is a website that I don't know if it's
if they if they label them base off of balls
and strikes or just overall performance. But the umpires assign
in this major league Baseball World Series. There is not

(07:08):
a top fifteen guy in there, hmm, which I would
don't you. Normally, even though we hate some of the
NBA officials because we think they're always against our team
or they think they're they're bigger than the game, they're
typically ranked very high among those in the NBA. Yes,
So this is purely on balls and strike calls. Well,
that's what I'm trying to figure out, okay, But whatever

(07:30):
ranking they have is very low. I would assume it's
it's gotta be balls and strikes because you're not you're
not determining whether or not a guy can get to
second base in time and that kind of thing. So, okay,
so we'll run through that. We have the Texans, we
have rockets tonight are taking out in the Memphis Grizzlies,
and then tomorrow night in San Antonio. So really it's
literally and anything goes Friday here on the radio program

(07:53):
we love. Is there something that I've not brought up
that you want me to bring up? No, I don't
think so, okay. Seven one three two one two five
seven nine. That's how you reach a show seven one
three two one two five seven nine zero if you
want to follow us on Twitter. Greatly appreciate that. A
lot of my accounts that people follow me that have
turned off are dormants. My Twitter accounts down a little bit,
which is I'm fine with get rid of those fake accounts,

(08:15):
get rid of those uh crypto accounts, get rid of
people to turn them off. Well, Taylor didn't get rid
of the crypto accounts. She wasn't following me, so I
didn't lose her. Okay, will she come back? She hadn't
deleted her account, she just locked for a little bit. Yeah,
she's trying to delete a bunch of stuff, clean up
some things. She's probably cleansing the account as we speak.
Seven one three two one two five seven Honey Cougars

(08:37):
and the Utes Tomorrow night, six o'clock TDECU Stadium made
his homecoming. And if you want to see a night
of thrilling plays and hard hitting action and unforgettable moments,
you need to be at TDECU Stadium for the Cougars
against the Utes tomorrow night at six o'clock. There's a
homecoming offer that will include four tickets and a parking
pass for just seventy dollars. How about that four dollars

(08:59):
seven four four tickets and parking pass for seventy bucks.
All you gotta do to get this deal is go
to Uachecougars dot com slash Home. It's easy, Uchcougars dot
com slash Home. Come early, stop all the bud light backyard,
tilgate area to enjoy food, beverage and tailgate games. And
the most importantly, be loud, come early and wear red
as we hope to pack the stadium for homecoming tomorrow

(09:21):
for the Cougars in the utes. Uachecougars dot Com slash
home for the Cougars in the utes six o'clock t
d's the u Stadium be there is more.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
Matt Thomas now on Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 4 (09:44):
Twelve eighteen on Sports Talk seven ninety Why do we
have this conversation a year after year after year with
officials blowing plate calls? Again? Yesterday in this game between
Minnesota and the Rams, Sam Arnold was taken down for
a safety because there was a sack. And the reason
sack took place is because his face mask was grabbed

(10:06):
and pulled into the ground. It would have been a
bailout because he was going to get sacked anyways, and
the defender just happened to grab his face mask, but
it was by roll is he ripped them down by
the face mask. Yeah, and there's a referee like literally
looking right at apparently saying I couldn't see it. How
could you not see it? We saw what you saw?

(10:27):
We have Your point of view was terrible. Yeah, you
must have been I don't know. Maybe he was looking
at his shoes make sure they were tied right when
the place. It didn't make any sense. I mean, we're
running into a lot of official problems now in the NFL.
We're running official problems everywhere. And again the issue is
it's too hard. It's too hard. It's just too difficult

(10:49):
of an event to make that happen to be really
good all the time. So what do you have to do?
You have to have lots of reinforcements, correct. I think
reinforcements would be extra sets of eyes, an extra use
of insurt a playing all sports. I know you're worried
about timing game. I know, I know, I know. That's
one of the reasons. That's why the NBA went back.

(11:11):
They went backwards. They were weren't they auto reviewing everything
under two minutes? Yep, like, you know what, this is
taking too long. Let's go ahead and dial is back.
And yeah, the NFL, they they did the past interference
thing and they're like, you know what, these aren't getting
overturned and it's slowing there seeing we're going to get
rid of these calls. It should have been overturned, not overturned.
It was ridiculous, just awful. So again, my my philosophy

(11:36):
has put a real live human being as an extra
official in the press box to communicate directly with the official.

Speaker 5 (11:42):
Is that?

Speaker 4 (11:43):
What isn't that?

Speaker 7 (11:43):
What?

Speaker 4 (11:44):
What is the replay assistance? He's helping? But I think
you that person should have been very helpful. Yeah, but
I think that person should say, look, you're on the
field whatever, mister hockey, and I'm seeing something that you're
not seeing like buzz in immediately that was a face mask.
Very obviously, let's go, yeah, we give them more rain.
I guess yeah, case, I think the NBA should put

(12:04):
an official, a true official, a fourth official at the
scores table instead of having to go to secaucus and
having these long video conversations. Let's call it quick, let's
get it going. Maybe a little higher up for a
higher up than you can't really see. Fouls are so
hard to call in the NBA. I don't know. Yeah,
maybe the scores table, so you know. And again they
put real officials in secacas and they rotated the round.

(12:25):
It's like a different stop that go. When you sat
there for the PA, what did you feel like when
calls were missed that there was a lot of stuff
that you had perspective on. I don't remember being there
going how they missed that. Yeah, but I remember this
being a long, convoluted process that could have been a
lot simpler if the person that fourth official I'm speaking
of was sitting right next to me, because there's a

(12:47):
monitor right in front another set of eyes you can
see because again I'm not looking at the game from
an officiating standpoint, or the official who's a paid official
is doing that.

Speaker 5 (12:56):
So I don't know.

Speaker 4 (12:57):
It just felt like to me that we're in we're
not getting any further with the with the ball strikes calls,
and I mean, Rossie, how many times have we argued
over the course of the year with audience. Your Twitter
count is literally with striking ball. As much as some
I really try not to do it, I mean we
almost to agree, we're all going to call you roster
bows eventually after a while to see it's not that bad.

(13:19):
That's every game. I really try to I try to
rein in how much I can plain about the umpiring.
So yeah, to me, I can't do it much as
a broadcaster because I don't want There are guys in
the NBA that call games that just do it so
much that it just it infiltrates their broadcast and it
just becomes a wine fest. And I don't want anybody
to go, Hell, I don't want to listen to this
game because all that broadcaster is going to do is

(13:41):
a bitch about officiating. Yeah, And frankly, from the viewpoint
that I've been a lot of times in the NBA
these days, I'm not seeing any things much better. Binoculars out,
yeah exactly. This hip this what they called hip drop
tackle thing finally got called against the Ravens this past week.
But that it wasn't a bunch of mills. Yeah, we're
seeing a bunch of Yeah, we're seeing that being missed.

(14:04):
We're I just think there's needs to be an officiating summit.
Don't you think that'd be something simple? And you know,
part of The problem is is that we're not growing
and recruiting the very best people to do this. And
why because of the the youth, because where they start,
they don't want to They people want to say this

(14:24):
is not worth my time. They that's the that's the
best solution to me is start your own ref academy
and get them working. I mean on basketball, it's easy.
You could put them in the G League. You could
put them in h I mean wherever. Yeah, just a
w n B A. That's a good that's a good idea.
Uh NFL maybe a little harder. I don't know about

(14:46):
college or UFL, but like you need to get some
sort of investment. That's the only way it's going to happen.
But as of right now, the leagues don't want to
spend that extra money. The pay is good. When you're
making money as a college or pro official, you're making
very good money. HM. So that isn't the issue. It's
the issue where you're in eighth grade getting yelled at
by a bunch of forty dollars a game. You don't

(15:06):
want to do it like when I was. I mean,
I will say this, I'm not trying to brag, but
I'm gonna go ahead and brag, go ahead, I was
a very good softball umpire. M wow, that's one of
the worst brags you could have brought some now. But
the reason why I quit was like I got guys
yelling at me with an ankle bracelets. I'm like, I
don't need this for thirty five dollars a game. Oh
hell no, right, so, or how about injecting some money

(15:29):
into those as as a league you could be even
more hands off of the NFL or Major League Baseball
partner with those softball leagues. Yeah, and pay the umpires
a little bit more so instead in the in the
youth leagues, you've got old people that have got nothing
better to do than just doing it to because they
want to get around a little bit. But you're not
seeing twenty you're not seeing young people at fifteen, sixteen,

(15:51):
seventeen years of age to say, you know what I
want to grow up at be an official Yeah, or
they're just giving up on it. Like there's viral videos
of guys like umpires walking out in the middle of
games because they're getting yelled at my parents and stuff.
Yeah yeah, seven one three, two, one two five seven
ninety seven, one three two one two five seven, and

(16:11):
then let's go to a Brian in Laredo at twelve
twenty five on The Matt Thomas Show with Ross Brian.
Thanks for holding good afternoon.

Speaker 8 (16:18):
Hey Avenue, Matt. I'm in Dallas today.

Speaker 4 (16:20):
So okay, well everywhere.

Speaker 8 (16:23):
Yeah, I'm a truck driver, always on our road listening
to you guys.

Speaker 4 (16:26):
Thank you.

Speaker 8 (16:26):
I appreciate you guys being on every day.

Speaker 4 (16:28):
Thank you.

Speaker 8 (16:30):
So I've got an idea for MLB Major League Baseball.
The big problem for me is strikes and balls, man
Like they just it's it's impossible for that for that
umpire to get those right. Why not put an earpiece
in the umpire. He still stays back there and call
strike or calls ball, but he's not actually making the
decision we see on TV, which wonder strikes, which under
ball very clearly. Why not just relate to him, Hey strike,

(16:52):
and he calls the strike or hey ball, he calls
the ball. That seems like an easy, simple thick. I
don't know why they haven't done that.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
Uh, They've been doing it in the league since twenty nineteen,
and then they've switched to half challenge system half full
automatic balls and strikes. But then this year they've they
went to full challenge system, which is probably what they're
gonna roll out in a couple of years.

Speaker 8 (17:13):
Yeah, there should be no mistakes, should be the zero
error right there, it should go Okay, that's one hundred strike.
Really really, that's the own party. He calls the strike.
I mean, I don't understand what's so hard about that?
Seems so simple.

Speaker 4 (17:27):
Uh, you know what I don't. I think they're just
deathly afraid. And Brian, thank you for the phone call.
They just don't they want the human element as part
of it. They want they just don't want technology to
take over the entire game. But meanwhile, technology is you know,
I was thinking about this today that you watch a
college and pro football game. You've got coaches with headsets
on talking to players in their helmet. Yes, I mean

(17:52):
thirty years ago, you never would have thought that would
have possibly happened. No, and now it's like a federal offense.
If the if the quarterback has a hard time here
and play from miss coach. Well, yeah, they used to
do hand signals and then people stole the signals and
so they went to the headsets and they're going with that,
and it's easier and I think, I guess it probably
makes the product overall better as well. Or the old
and olden days, the quarterbacks would call their own place.

(18:15):
But the word human element is just a euphemism for
bad calls. You just want bad calls and missed calls.
That's what the human element is. The human element is
not getting it right, and they just don't last night,
last night, a buzzer should have gone off yes and said, hey,
whoever the rev referee was, And I don't need anybody
challenging anything. I just saw something that needs to be

(18:37):
called immediately. I saw blatant hold. I saw a chopped block.
I saw a face mask. Yeah. I saw the left
tackle leave early of a Laramie Tunzel's case. I saw
the defense nose tackle crossed the line of scrimmage on encroachment.
We've we've got to do a better job of taking
some things out of the officials hands if they can't

(18:57):
handle it. Yeah. The only problem you'd have to pick
and choose which types of calls. I think face mask
should be called. The thing is that the old, the
old adage you can call a holding on every play
is really true. So may. You know, it's it's tough.
You don't want a holding on every play because if

(19:18):
there was a call to holding on every play, then
offenses would get backed up and then every game would
end seven to three. So in the NFL doesn't want
that second and thirty six. Yeah, exactly, So there there
is a fine line to toe to get the calls right.
But also, I mean al Michaels's last night is complaining again.
Oh who, there's a shock, there's another flag and there's

(19:40):
a flag on the field. I know you're surprised, and
like he's commenting and we see it and we're talking
to calling at the National Flag League, which I'm guilty of,
and it's like, there's a flag on every play. So
if we're getting these calls right, that means that's even
more flags and then that waters down the product. So
it's tough. It's not easy. It's not easy. So we
have to decide can we live with flags and get

(20:01):
the calls right or do we just let some things
go and then be pissed about the Monday after and
call your favorite radio show. Ratings and revenue keep going up, Matt.
You know, ratings and revenue are a King. That's right,
all right. When we return, we're gonna have to open
up the law and order, uh notebook here for one
one of our new favorite Well, I was gonna say follows.
I didn't follow her because I just want to make

(20:22):
sure I don't get in trouble. Seven one three two
one two five seven ninety seven one three two two
five seven eight. It's twelve twenty nine. It's and anything
Goes Friday on The Matt Thomas Show of Ross. As
you listen to Sports Talk seven ninety all right, it's
twelve thirty three in The Matt Thomas Show of Ross
and uh, we've got Kelvin Samson at one o'clock, Derek
Schultz from Indianapolis at one thirty. They give us a

(20:44):
little cults preview Wonderful Non Florida Stories at two thirty
Helly Air, not two fifty. So if you've listened to
this show the last few weeks, you know I have.
You know I've I've discussed on occasion the Taylor matthis
Twitter account and who is she?

Speaker 5 (21:02):
Matt.

Speaker 4 (21:03):
She is a busty girl who walks without a brawn, jiggles, laughs,
has a bright smile, and makes bad sports bets, and

(21:25):
she tries to help you with sports bets, and she
brings no analytics, doesn't talk about coverages or defenses or
really much of anything. She's chesty because that's the whole
point of exactly. Yeah, boy, I wanted to hear that
whole bite. Go ahead, play it, go ahead, kind of

(21:46):
get it out of the way, because that's the whole
point of these videos is to see these racks being
bouncy and bouncy everywhere. So Taylor got picked up by
a sports betting agency which we will not discuss the
name of it. Oh, they spend some money on the station,
but not they do. Yeah, I never heard it, man
door Fleet. Again, I didn't never heard of it, all right,

(22:08):
So Taylor was able to go on some trips to
I believe Aruba. Yes, she went to some other place.
She went. She's going to a bunch of casinos where
these people are running act like you don't have a
map on your wall with a little pins and everywhere
she's been. And she was doing these walking bets, which
you're becoming quite popular, which she also got accused of

(22:28):
stealing from another woman who was very upset. Yeah, but
I would have to say the other woman doesn't have
as good Taylor's were better. Taylor's what walking bets. So,
come to find out late last night, I'm getting all
of these tweets from me like what's going on with Taylor?
And then I get the text from my buddies today,

(22:48):
what's going on with Taylor? So I walk in the
office today and I said down, I get ready for
the show, and you walk in. I said, hey, do
you know what's going on with Taylor? And thankfully you
have done the research on what is going wrong with
Taylor Maths is like, if you're in the last twenty
four hours, yes, So apparently Taylor mathis partnered with some
crypto bros. And they made a Taylor coin. And this

(23:14):
Taylor coin, of which she became associated with and was
given two percent ownership of, went viral. She started to
pump it up on her Twitter account. The value of
this means nothing at this point, right or does it?
It reached a No, it sounds like a made up cryptocurrency.

(23:36):
But there's a lot of horny virgins on Twitter and
some other people who are really into whatever she does.
She said to go buy this crypto and it got
up to a six million dollar market cap, which, of
course Matt Quickmath makes her stake about one hundred and
twenty thousand dollars in crypto. Yes, okay. Then apparently the

(24:00):
coin quickly dropped after last Saturday and the market cap
went down to as little as two hundred thousand dollars.
So in the middle of it tanking, Taylor sold her
steak in the coin in the coin, then she sent
missage messages saying she didn't want to be involved in it.

(24:20):
Then it kept on tanking lower and lower, and then
she bought some back up and then started talking about
the coin again apparently. So this is what can be
commonly known as a pump and dump scheme, where a
stock or a crypto coin in the currency in this case,
gets pumped up, people sell it for profits and then

(24:41):
they move on. And so I don't know if this,
I don't know if there's going to be a probe
by the Securities in Exchange Commission or what. But she
has since deleted a bunch of her tweets and mad
made her account private, talking about the account made her
account private, and uh it was mathed Means, which she
was partnered with, has been taken off of her profile,

(25:04):
So I'm not sure if she lost her sponsorship deal
with my guess that the answer would be yes. Seems
like it has.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
Now.

Speaker 4 (25:12):
The question I have for you is did Tom Brady
invest in this? I don't think he did. That was
crypto dot com? Is that what he was on?

Speaker 5 (25:20):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (25:20):
Or to ftx Yeah, because that was the big running
joke at the Tom Brady Rose was that he invested
all this in the crypto and he turned to be zero. Yeah.
So in three days it ran up to six million dollars,
went all the way down to like, uh, I guess
one hundred thousand dollars after the market dipped. Yeah, hmm.

(25:41):
So the the crux of the story is is Lesson
learned just bounce and talk about bets and don't get
involved in crypto. Don't get involved with crypto bros. And
it's funny because she didn't. She bring this up a
few weeks ago talking about she's taken crypto course, and
I was like, Oh, this doesn't seem much. Yeah, she's

(26:02):
getting some terrible advice. So I don't I think she's
She lives in the Midwest somewhere. I hope that she
had a great time in Aruba, and I know how
she was in the Aruba. You watched all the videos.
I mean I was looking for her bets and her selections.
Oh okay, you can't bet legally in Texas, man, I know,
but I was passing the information along to my friends

(26:24):
lots of the week. So there you go. There's the
Taylor matth This update for those of you that wanted
to know. That's long or nearly as bounty today as
she was yesterday. Hmm. So just to recapture it seems
like she may be a crypto scammer. Yeah, and it's
probably costing her her last remaining minutes of fame. Although

(26:46):
if she goes to only fans, she'll do dress quite
well for herself. You know what's funny. I was literally
thinking my head. I was like, I'm not going to
make an only fans joke. As as it came out
of your mouth. Mm hmm. That seems tell me how
she does she does? Yeah, I clip that. Uh, she's

(27:08):
that's how she makes her money back if she's in
if she's in economic distress right now, only fans immediately,
she'ld just be just fine. I think she would do
quite well. Yeah, she had to do my more than
walk out? Why did you have to make it worse
and worse? I just said she gotta more than a walk?

Speaker 3 (27:28):
What is that?

Speaker 7 (27:30):
I mean?

Speaker 4 (27:30):
I don't have an only fans description anybody, but I'm
going to presume that you have to do more than
just walk on an only fans count make money? Just
your friend. The prepaid visa card has a scriptureption. It's
not you, that's not eligible. I don't think, not that
I would know, and that issues that your Taylor Math's
update for the day. We will keep track on her.
We will keep concept updates, make sure she's back on

(27:52):
her feet and back walking. I don't I didn't get Seriously,
how do you come back from this? If you're hurt?
Only fans people forget? Who can no? And in six weeks,
nobody's gonna remember any of this. As long as she'll
she'll delete all her crypto tweets, she'll unlock, she'll start
bouncing around again, and everybody will forget. Yeah, have you
seen twenty twenty four? So the issue is, if we're

(28:15):
looking for bets, who do we go to next? The
other walking girl? Well, it's her name. I don't know.
I don't remember, Okay, well, but she's apparently dancing, doing
some grave dancing after all this. Oh yeah, she's like
hyeah scoreboard biac. All right, there's your Taylor at Matthews
update on the radio program today. We got to Kelvin

(28:35):
Sampson coming up at one o'clock this afternoon. We've got
one thirty Derek Schultz, and we have an update on
what's going on in Texanville with who's practicing. Somebody came
back today for the first time in a couple of days,
and that Friday injury report could mean everything. By the way,
have you noticed stand to this all during a show?
I mean just endless segments about the offensive line, endless

(29:01):
ROSSI how about just do your job and protect the quarterback.
If athletic then you can't do it, then the Texans
are gonna be screwed. But if it's timing and it's
road crowd noise, then you got to practice that. But
this team has got too much money and too much
experience at this point to have the issues they're having

(29:22):
in their on their offensive line. Seven games in the
season seven one three two, one two five seven ninety
seven to one three two, one two five seven ninety.
A huge shout out to Big Citny Wings King Went
Location yesterday for hosting a little volleyball team party for
my daughter and her buddies. It was great. We had tenders,
we had wings, we had fries, we had salad, and
we had fried oreos and funnel cake fries for dessert.

(29:46):
I mean the dinner Champions. And tonight, if you don't
feel like cooking and you want to watch the World
Series and you want to watch the Rockets game, and
you want to watch some college football tonight, it can
all be done at any of the thirteen Big City
Wing locations, Big on Wings, Big on Sports, Big on
big screen TVs. And tomorrow all their locations will open
up at ten thirty so you can get there and

(30:06):
plenty of time for those eleven o'clock kickoffs. Whether it's wings, sandwiches, salads, fries, desserts, appetizers,
they've got it all. Great prices, reasonable prices in fact,
for all the delicious food. We had again a great
time in our party yesterday, and you should have a
party there as well at Big City Wings thirteen Houston locations,
Big City Wings dot com. Really the Rockets have Red Nation.

(30:31):
Matt Taz Mattie Nation. Things are going to start happening
to me.

Speaker 2 (30:36):
Now you made it. I'm not funny now more Matt Thomas.
Now it is twelve forty eight. It is the Matt
Thomas Show with Ross Sports Talk seven. I think we
take this program today until three o'clock.

Speaker 9 (30:51):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (30:51):
We mentioned what's going on in Texanville. We got some
good news. Henry Toatoa did partake in practice today. I
know that a lot of people are driving around the
streets to Houston concerned about that situation. Oh thank god.
That's actually pretty good. Uh yeah, I mean death is
where it's at. I mean, was not considered much of
a player last year, came in and did a nice job,

(31:11):
and now is considered one of the veteran leaders. I
would say he's one of their good run stoppers. He's
not like, you know, yeah, it's not gonna be all
pro or anything like that, but it's good downhill, diagnosing,
running lanes, finding the right spots aggressive. I like Henrito
Kamari Lassiter practicing for the third day in a row.
So that's good on that. So that's helping out a
little bit defensively, and we'll get another injury report from

(31:33):
the Texans a little bit later on uh seven seven nine.
If you want to jump in it and anything goes Friday,
meaning literally anything you want to talk about. Anything could
be sports, Yes, could be an MLSU tomorrow, could be
bouncing crypto grifters, could be uh, it could be hmmm, Oh,

(31:56):
I got one for you. Here's a baseball note this
Jim Bottom guy, yes, rights for the athletic. I think
that's some TV and radio, is a former general manager
of the Reds. I want to say of yesteryear. Okay,
this was taken off of a Sports Illustrated story that
I think they were basically aggregating from the athletic m hm.

Speaker 6 (32:20):
He has a.

Speaker 4 (32:21):
Prediction on Alex Bregman's next contract. Okay. You're gonna be
happy about this because we have a small bet on this,
and I think I'm gonna win the bet. He has
it at seven years, okay, which would be one more
than I than we have. We have set the average
at six. The line is six point zero, right. The

(32:43):
dollar amount he has it at one hundred and eighty
five million, seven five. That's not thirty million dollars a year. No,
it's not that even. That's not even close to thirty
million dollars a year twenty six point four to two.
So he's gonna take a longer term deal at less money,

(33:04):
the first time he's really been able to test the
free agent waters. Now the seven I was thinking about,
they take it. I'm sorry, I think I asked this,
but I have a short attention spanding. This is gonna
be the Astro signing this or somebody else, somebody he says,
the market's going to set it at seven and one
eighty five. Okay, I I think it's going to be

(33:25):
less than seven, just for the sake of our bet.
But one eighty five to me was the was the
surprising number. Not that people are running around sources they're
telling them this, or is this his prediction? Okay, you know,
And again, former general managers have a pretty good feel
of this is what they do for a living. They
kind of guesstimate with the markets out there and who's available. Yeah,
maybe there's because there's quite a few third basement available
out there. I don't know what the reason would be,

(33:45):
but that feels kind of low, honestly, seven and one
eighty five mm hmm. So if that is the case,
if it's really seven to eighty five, wouldn't you, if
you're the Astros, do that deal?

Speaker 5 (34:04):
I don't.

Speaker 4 (34:04):
Well in theory, yes, but you also have an owner
who has taking a hardline stance. I don't do over five.
So that'd be two years more than what he would
normally would like to or has has set as a
precedent as a limit. But if you were budgeting him
being a thirty million dollars year player, if seven to

(34:27):
eighty five would be in that same range for six years,
six eighty, what have the case? Maybe Paul DeJong is available, No,
not great. Kevin Newman is available from Arizona, who plays
a little bit of everything, second, short and third. Abraham Torrel,
former astrogrades available. Okay, yeah, maybe you pay up for Bragman.

Speaker 1 (34:51):
Maybe you do pay.

Speaker 4 (34:52):
Up a wit Merryfield's available. Whit Merryfield. You know, Kevin
Bigio has played some third base before. Okay, come on,
he got released by two teams last year. I'm just
throwing these names out. Oh what's going on? I thought
you'll hand me out. Sweat could be for sure, or
you know, and Mancatta. I think those are the two
that you would like to if you can guarantee one

(35:13):
of those two you feel better about losing losing pregnant. Yeah,
so then that it's gonna be tough. I just I
just saw that number nine. Was kind of surprised because
that is for a seven year contract. That feels significantly
lower than us. I would agree, I would agree. So
we'll see what Jim Madden is on about. See seven
one three two one two five seven. Honey Jeff in

(35:35):
downtown is with us. I'm the Matt Tomas Show with
Ross Jeff. Thank you for holding good afternoon.

Speaker 10 (35:40):
A happy Friday, My time flies. I wanted to get
your review of Cougar football this year. I mean, you
play Utah tomorrow for homecoming and try to get a
win up in Kansas City. It fell a little short.
I just wanted to see what you thought.

Speaker 7 (35:56):
Love the show. Though.

Speaker 4 (35:58):
We need significant talent. That's that's my thought. We need
a quarterback. I thought the defense was its supposed to
be okay happening. I gave up a bunch of points
last week, and a lot of that was because the
Cougars turned the ball over four times. That's no way
to go through life. Yeah, the run pass option really

(36:19):
burned them. Last week against the Jayhawks, they just were
just a step light on that kind of stuff. Short
field didn't help the cause. They've got some athletes ROSSI
but they need a serious infusion at running back, a
legitimate and when we've gone through four or five different
guys this year, none of them been able to stand out.
The quarterback spot's not been good. Then you wide receiver depth.
They need serious offense. I mean, they need everything. I mean,

(36:40):
I'm not saying I mean, I don't mean to be rude,
but the question was asked and it's now going to
be answered. They need significant talent to challenge in this division.
I thought they brought in sixty three new players or
whatever it was. Well, that's setting records. That's not a record.
You're bragging about sixty three bright young faces ready to play.
Well the next year they might be ready to play it,

(37:02):
just aren't they any good? I think that's a that's
a nick Saban. Isn't that a Nick Saban saying there's
a reason they're in the portal? Yeah, for the most part, Right,
why do you guys transfer? Well, because they're unhappy they're
not getting playing time, they're not getting play on time.
That means maybe they're not that good, unless it's somebody
who's trying to upgrade, like I don't know Jordan Addison
who went from Pittaer to USC or Tray Moore, the

(37:25):
pass rusher that the Longhorns picked up. He was I
think Utsa or U T L Pass or that jerk
Matthew Golden and one of those kinds. Oh yeah, yeah.
Sometimes you get called up to the big leagues, you know, No,
sometimes Golden. Sometimes on a toil in front of nineteen
thousand people, you just get cash. Wet. He wants to
be chucking his horns up in front of one hundred
thousand in Austin, Texas with a top ten team who

(37:47):
got their ass beat by Georgia last week. Yes they did.
He was there for that, so he was. He was
on the field, he was. They just need towent and
they need cash. So if anybody would like to donate
some money to the nil so the being paid players, Well,
how about somebody who has a large platform and always
speaks about how the school is the Harvard of the Southeast.

(38:08):
There the great pro this great program. I'll call Jim
Nass as soon as I can. Always calls them a
Tier one institutional, Tier one, the greatest athletic department in
the land. Maybe that guy could could cut some checks. Okay, well,
as soon as you get a hold of him, I'll
be happy to call mister Dans and see if you
can do that. Seven one three, two, one two five
seven nine zero seven one three two one two five

(38:29):
seven the Yeah, the Cougar football program is.

Speaker 5 (38:35):
Will.

Speaker 4 (38:35):
He's trying hard. He just doesn't enough players. And I
think anybody that's watched the team this year would back
that up. And the thing we have going for us
is that Willy everywhere he's gone has taken a team
in similar situations it made them significantly better. I mean, hell,
he made two lane relevant. Nothing else. You mean, Georgia
Southern relevant. How do you do that? Because you're a

(38:57):
good coach, not a recruit. Now it's a little bit
for now times. They are a change.

Speaker 5 (39:02):
God.

Speaker 4 (39:02):
I had the check ready Yankees Keith at twelve fifty
six on seventy before we talked to Kelvin Sampson.

Speaker 11 (39:07):
Go ahead, Keith, Okay, it's Yankees in six and again
I'm gonna repeat that. Aaron Judges the MVP of the
World Series.

Speaker 7 (39:18):
I also have a Rockets question. Yeah, so Jamari Smith,
this is this his third or his fourth year?

Speaker 4 (39:26):
It's his third season.

Speaker 7 (39:29):
Okay. If he doesn't average, he was like the our
top draft pick a few years ago.

Speaker 11 (39:36):
If he don't average like seventeen and eight by the
trade deadline, don't you think he should go?

Speaker 7 (39:43):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (39:43):
We mean just to trade him? Just to trade him?
Or are you trying to trade him to get a
superstar here? I mean, what are you hit him for?

Speaker 7 (39:48):
What?

Speaker 5 (39:48):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (39:48):
What are you looking to trade him for?

Speaker 11 (39:50):
Tradeing for him and somebody else for a package by
the trade deadline?

Speaker 4 (39:55):
Okay, So if he's underperforming, what are you gonna get
in return? If he's overperforming, then why would you rade him?

Speaker 7 (40:02):
Well, first off, he is he's never going to be
over performing. Well, he's pretty.

Speaker 4 (40:07):
Soft, Clarion, I'm not a member of his family. Sounds
like to me.

Speaker 7 (40:12):
No, he's pretty soft man.

Speaker 4 (40:14):
Well, you know what. You know what, Keith, I've got
Jabari in the phone line right now. Why don't tell
him to his face how soft he is.

Speaker 7 (40:20):
You're I'm five ten, one hundred and seventy five miles.

Speaker 11 (40:25):
He's sixty eleven, about two fifty.

Speaker 7 (40:28):
I'll tell him to his face.

Speaker 1 (40:29):
You're soft.

Speaker 4 (40:32):
You're all right, thank you, you're Prince Keith, you really are.

Speaker 5 (40:35):
Thank you for this.

Speaker 4 (40:35):
Last Jerry, he averaged about fourteen and eight and shot
thirty six percent from three.

Speaker 5 (40:39):
It's good.

Speaker 4 (40:40):
Yeah, I don't know if he's much more than sixteen
and seven. I don't know. I mean, if Sheng Guon's
gonna you can't have shng Gon and Green and Jabbari
scoring twenty four points every night. Just doesn't work out
that way. He hasn't shown himself to be good enough
to earn you running some of the offense through him. Anyways. Yeah,
I think he is a open spot guy. Let's shoot
and make some threes, and he's got to do that tonight.

(41:03):
We talked to Kelvin Samson next here on Sports Talk
seven ninety after. I tell you to get your act together.

Speaker 1 (42:45):
Lunchtimers. This is the Matt Thomas.

Speaker 4 (42:49):
Show one O two on Sports Talk seven nine eight hour,
number two of three on a very busy weekend. We've
got college football, we have the NFL, We've got the
Rockets tonight here in tomorrow night in San Antonio, and
then Sunday. I'm very happy to be calling the game
on television. It's a special exhibition game featuring the Houston

(43:09):
Cougars and the Texas A and m Aggie's in to
talk about that game and all things college basketball. Is
my good friend at Kelvin Sampson here on the Matt
Thomas Show with Ross Coach. I love that the nc
DOABLEA allows you guys to play some heavy hitters. I
know it's not gonna mean anything on the scorecard, but
having this kind of early season tests has got to
be good for your guys, right.

Speaker 7 (43:30):
It is.

Speaker 5 (43:30):
We're coming off a.

Speaker 9 (43:33):
Secret I guess in parenthesis sacred scrimmage last Saturday. So
now when you go back to practice or some things
that you know you need to clean up, you're still
trying to get the new guys in and so you
can evaluate them so they can get comfortable.

Speaker 5 (43:53):
You know, we have a new point guard, getting him
where he can figure.

Speaker 9 (43:58):
Out who's where and who does what best where and
so he can get to know his teammates better. And
your practice is practice. We know the moves, we know
who the shooters are, who the shooters aren't. We work
on this, We work on that.

Speaker 5 (44:13):
But you know, to be able to.

Speaker 9 (44:15):
Take our our system, if you will, and go play
somebody else in the month of October, even knowing the
big picture. You know, a month from now, nobody's gonna
remember this game. But it's it's part of the process
for us.

Speaker 4 (44:29):
It is crazy, though, Coach, that Anderson Garcia and the
rest of the Aggas are coming to town. He's the
guy hit that three pointer that gave me a heart
attack when you guys were playing the NCAA tournament.

Speaker 5 (44:39):
The only thing I remember about that game, Matt is
we won.

Speaker 4 (44:42):
There you go. I like that much better, much better.
That's cool. So tell me about your off season. I
know you've the recruiting folks love it. I know you're
trying to get some replacing Jamal who said a nice
start to his young NBA career. Got a lot of
returning guys coming back. You've got a couple of guys
changing uniform numbers in a w what not. Was this
offseason any different than previous years. I mean, obviously the

(45:04):
folks at the Associated Press level were going to be
being number four in the country starting the season.

Speaker 5 (45:09):
No, not really.

Speaker 9 (45:13):
You know, our season ends, you know, because we've been
going to the Sweet sixteen or Final four, Leite eight, whatever.
Our season is ending later. So by the time you
get back, you're almost into April. And there's NC double
a rule that when the season ends, the players have
to have a two week break, and we do that regardless.

Speaker 5 (45:34):
I mean, it's not like we're gonna start practicing right.

Speaker 9 (45:36):
Away, but by the time the two week break comes,
now you're backing up into final exams at the end
of April.

Speaker 5 (45:42):
Schools out early May, and so we don't really work
with our guys individually.

Speaker 9 (45:50):
Position wise, team wise till June, and by that time,
you know, the new guys are there. Milos Uzan, Mercy Miller,
Chase McCarty are the three new guys. And then we
had Jack and McFarlane red shirt last year, so's he's
back in the swing of things, and Cordell Jefferson.

Speaker 5 (46:11):
So we've got five new faces.

Speaker 7 (46:13):
We've got.

Speaker 9 (46:15):
Eight of our top ten back, so you know, just
trying to mix them all together and see who fits
where and who can do this, who can do that,
and pick up our system and go play. You know,
it's so early in the season to be making any decisions,
so we're just gonna let a lot of guys play,
you know, the winning and losing this game.

Speaker 5 (46:35):
We'll see how that goes.

Speaker 9 (46:36):
But I think it's more important just to get a
look at your team so you can evaluate your new guys.

Speaker 5 (46:41):
Well.

Speaker 4 (46:41):
I love your non conference schedule. You have that big
event going out in Vegas, I guess Thanksgiving week, but
you know, in a couple of weeks of the TOTU Center,
you guys are gonna play Auburn, so you're not messing
around with some top flight competition. That's was that one
of the things, and again everybody's gonna say we try
to balance best we can. But I like what you
guys have done, at least from the non conference schedule wise.
For the.

Speaker 9 (47:03):
Games in Vegas is strictly for all the teams there.
There's eight teams there. On our side of the bracket
is Alabama, Notre Dame, Rutgers, Houston. The other side is Oregon, Creighton,
San Diego State, and Texas A and M. So we'll
play two teams on our side and one team from
the other side probably, and then we have Auburn on November.

(47:24):
I'm sorry, Yeah, November nine's is so word. I couldn't
believe I was saying that. But November ninth, like last year,
in the same game at the Toyota Center, we played
Texas A and M. So, you know, I think our
schedule non conference schedule was fine. I doubt I would
be doing the tournament in Vegas unless it was a

(47:44):
huge nil payday for US. But you know, we have
twenty conference games. That's a change. Last year we had eighteen.
This year we have twenty. So you've got twenty big
twelve games. So any coaches got common sense, it's not
going to load up on non conference schedule when you
don't really need to.

Speaker 4 (48:03):
Well, it's still a very fierce skit together before you
guys get going to league play. LJ. Carr you mentioned
on your conference call a few minutes ago at the
meeting you want him to be even more aggressive than
he was a year ago. Would you further explain that
for us?

Speaker 9 (48:16):
Yeah, you know, l J is one of those kids,
Matt that makes the right play and and I'm never
ever gonna change that mentality with him because that's what's
makes him special. But sometimes sometimes when he can create
a window for himself, either on a slidestep or step
back where he can get get a window for himself,
I want him to shoot that ball.

Speaker 5 (48:37):
He's an outstanding shooter, and he's a.

Speaker 9 (48:39):
Senior, and this is it for him. You know, he
he's gonna be our leading scorer again. I'd just like
to see him a little a little bit more aggressive.
You know, We've got to see how we're gonna play
with Milos. That's a that's that's a big question mark
for us. It's going to get answered. It's just gonna
take time. He needs to play in games. And that's
why this early season's schedule will be a challenge for us.

(49:04):
But you know, the great thing is is that every
game we play, I think you'll see, especially Milos get
more comfortable with the h with the returners. You know,
he played two years in the Big twelve, so that's
not gonna be a change for him. The biggest change
is he's got new teammates and that that always that's
always a little bit of a process.

Speaker 4 (49:25):
You didn't hit somebody, did you. We're hearing a bunch
of beeps in the background. Everything okay, but with you.

Speaker 7 (49:31):
No, I'm good. I'm good. That's not me.

Speaker 4 (49:33):
I want to make sure he didn't hit somebody because
I don't need you that filing insurance claim on my behalf.
That's what I'm saying. One kid I loved watching develop
last year was Jojo Tuckler and just all freshman Big twelve. Obviously,
the foot injury late near end of his season, I'm
gonna assume, first and foremost he's close to being if nine,
one hundred percent right now, and what do you expect

(49:55):
him to make the next leap going from a freshman
year to a sophomore year, Because, as you'd also mentioned,
the media early today, freshmen gotta do a lot of
observations and a lot of freshmen don't get to play.
He was able to give you some valuable minutes for
you last year.

Speaker 9 (50:08):
Yeah, I think Jojo JoJo's different. You know when he
when he goes in there, he just creates havoc. When
we lost him when we we played at Baylor last year,
that was that was his last game. So I think
we played six or seven games after that, and I
thought that's when our season went a little bit sideways

(50:29):
because we didn't have You don't just go get another
Jojo Jojo. Probably it was as good as any of
our post guys now. J One Roberts role and his
skill sets different. Javier was a veteran. He really improved
as the season went on.

Speaker 5 (50:44):
But you know, we feel like we have.

Speaker 9 (50:47):
Three starters up front with Jojo, Javier and Jojo. I'm sorry,
Jay One, Joe Jabier and Jojo, the three Jays. Those
those three guys all can start, and it really doesn't matter.
You know, Javier and Jay One will start. Javier has
been banged up with a little bit of an injury.

Speaker 7 (51:07):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (51:07):
He did not play last Saturday.

Speaker 11 (51:10):
Uh.

Speaker 9 (51:10):
If he plays Sunday he plays. If he does and
he doesn't, that game's not nearly as important as the
game on November fourth. I think, uh, going forward, he'll
he'll for sure play on November fourth, But I'm not
sure that thing's bothering him at all. Uh today or tomorrow,
We'll just hold him out because you know, the most
important thing is not the game Sunday, it's the game

(51:31):
November fourth.

Speaker 5 (51:32):
That's when our season starts.

Speaker 4 (51:34):
Last thing for you, this is big picture stuff because
I always value your opinion on so many things. I
don't know how well you know Tony Bennett, but universally,
his resignation from Virginia I sent a lot of shock
waves throughout the sport, and some of them I think
it was because of the transfer portal in the NIL
and and I was telling my partner, I said, you know,
I don't want to see great coaches leave the game

(51:57):
for things that they can't control on the court. So
as you get into another part of your career, because
you didn't deal with this fifteen or twenty years ago.
You dealt about recruiting kids and winning basketball games and
filling up buildings. You didn't have to worry about portals
and anils and whatnot. How do you now navigate these
waters as we're seeing some really good people leave the

(52:18):
industry because of the fact that so much of this
is done off the court and frankly with the dollar bill.

Speaker 9 (52:25):
No, you're right, and it's an individual thing. Tony was
a good friend of mine. I think three or four
years ago.

Speaker 5 (52:34):
He called me.

Speaker 9 (52:37):
In the spring and said, you know, he'd like to
bring you know, Duke came to Fortita Center and we
had a closed door scrimmage with them. I think Tony
found out about that and said, well, he'd like to
do the same thing. He'd liked to bring Virginia. I said,
I don't want to scrimmage you, Tony, Let's play. So
that's how the Home and Home of Virginia was set up. Yeah,

(52:58):
the Nidel thing, the portal thing that was that just happened.
I don't know any of us had a handle on it.
And now all of a sudden it went full board
with no guardrails. It's like a roller coaster without brakes.
You know, we're just up and down, flying and trying
to figure things.

Speaker 5 (53:17):
Out as we go.

Speaker 9 (53:18):
But you know, the things that I enjoy most about
My job, matt Is is working with these young guys
and helping them reach their dreams and goals, and teaching
them about the competitive side of life and how basketball
can help that, and and helping them grow and reached
their dreams and chase their goals.

Speaker 5 (53:40):
That hasn't changed for me.

Speaker 9 (53:41):
And I told someone at media Day the other day,
I refuse to let transfer Portal or the ni L
change who I am. I still love what I do
and that's not going to change. I will evolve and
change because you have to. I still remember coaching before
the shot clock, before the three point line. When those

(54:02):
things came in, it was like, oh wow, that's messing
up our game. Nobody remembers when there wasn't a shot clock.
Nobody remembers when there wasn't a three point line.

Speaker 5 (54:11):
So now we have benil.

Speaker 9 (54:13):
It is what it is, figure it out, do the
best you can with it, and go forward. But the
reasons I got into this profession to begin with, I still.

Speaker 4 (54:21):
Love outstanding message there coach, Thanks for the time. He's
always best of luck not only getting the guys out
there for a warm up on Sunday, but the entire
course of the season and We'll see you in the
Fortuda Center on Sunday afternoon at four o'clock.

Speaker 5 (54:34):

Matt Thomas returns on Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 4 (56:15):
Time is one twenty. It is the Matt Thomas Show
with Ross Sports Talk seven. I ain't great to have
you with us on this, but it's gonna be a
very busy weekend. We've got the Vanderbilt Goldpost maybe going
down again for a second consecutive home game. How would
you say that? I don't know, because it's not true.
Come on, you're not letting that short little quarterback beat you.
He's been really good. He's fine. What's his name, Diego Pavia? Well,

(56:40):
he's he is a After he beat Alabama, he goes
right on TV and he starts swearing up and cussing
up a storm. What's wrong with that?

Speaker 12 (56:47):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (56:47):
No, college kid cusses. Can't do it on ESPN Big
money okay, can't can't face those fines yet? A and
m versus LSU tomorrow? Yeah, okay, what time is that game?
Is the national game? Okay? I mean that's not all national,
but that's the big game of the week, the big
game of the week. The second big game of the

(57:07):
week is Utah Houston at six o'cock. Maggie's fans to
be happy or do I want Gordy to be happy?
And Dan Matthews, Oh, I'm really bothered by Dan for
a variety of things. What do you mean trying to
go up to Austin for the Georgia game and now
going to college station for LSU. He went on his
Instagram account and started dancing with Georgia gear on and

(57:30):
now he's going to be doing that with lghit. Yes,
I must have missed that one. And now if LSU wins,
he's gonna be doing the same thing with LSU gear
That's like being a fan of Texas and A and M.
I'm sorry, I just can't get past this. But Dan's
a swall fellow, so we will let him be.

Speaker 7 (57:47):
Yes.

Speaker 4 (57:49):
Oh, that line is down to A and M minus one.
Wasn't it more before? Yes, I pay attention to one. Yeah,
so we got that. We got the Texans and the
Colts on Sunday.

Speaker 5 (57:58):
We have.

Speaker 12 (58:00):
We go.

Speaker 4 (58:00):
Oh, we got Dallas San Francisco on Sunday night football,
which I think is gonna be very very good. Yes,
Texans versus Colts. Who's on the call on that one?
I scared. I'm scared to ask. I'll let you take
a guess. It's CBS. Okay, you think it's Jim Nantz.

Speaker 7 (58:15):
No.

Speaker 4 (58:15):
Do you think it's Iron Eagle? No, I think it's
Kevin Harlan. No, it's Andrew Catalan. Yes, yes, it's Andrew Catillan. Okay,
there's the number four game this week among all of them. Well,
Nurse seven on CBS, so they're right in the middle.
Like most things. Sexs Texans Colts at noon sounds about
right with Andrew Catalan. Yeah, the I think the big
early game on CBS would have to be. Let mean,

(58:38):
I can tell you right now. Uh what is the
big CBS game? I don't know, keep stalling. I'm stalling
A Sports Philly Cincinnati. That's good, yeah, stacent. I mean,
since A wins that game, they're right back in the
thick of things in the in the AFC North. What's

(58:59):
the game the week? The Ulternate Commanders. The number one
game of the week probably is Bear's Commanders. Yeah, but
Jayden Reid's not supposed to I mean, sorry, Jayden Daniels
is not supposed to play. Well, they could be a
lower scoring game Kansas City tries to go to seven
or oh this week or excuse me, maybe trying to
go to eight.

Speaker 8 (59:15):
No.

Speaker 4 (59:16):
Well, actually, Jade Daniels was limited today, but was DNP
the for previous two days. Usually two dnp's and a
limited as a no go Usually that usually means one hit.
He's probably gonna be done for the game exactly, So
why would you put him? Has been tenderized Oh what's that?
Oh Dan is weighing in. Oh, here we go. Let's
see what Dan had to say. Uh okay, Georgia read

(59:41):
football rejuvenated my career after leaving a radio station. If
it's them against LSU, I'm all Tigers. But see I
wouldn't boast about being all Tiger. Would you just wear
a split jersey and sit at the fifty? That sounds
very ou Texas of him. No, I just kidding, wouldn't
do that. Could you imagine? Is there do you think

(01:00:01):
there's anybody that has an A and M and a
Texas jersey split Maybe because the kids they went there
or something like that, Like I have I have one
son at A and M or did, and then I
had a Texas Tech graduate. So and then if Carl
got a scholarship offer from the Longhorns, she would say yes.
I'd say, hook, come, let's go. Exactly. I would be
the biggest Texas honk. You had me wearing Texas gear

(01:00:23):
every year, that's right, I would say Texas volleyball and
by the way, and M volleyball be Texas volleyball. They
did in Austin back to back reigning national chant. That crazy?

Speaker 13 (01:00:32):
Is it?

Speaker 4 (01:00:32):
I guess a M volleyball is very good. They're good, Yeah, okay, good,
they're really good. All right, we've had anything goes Friday,
and we've only had one call today so far, and
it was off of UH too No Yankees, Keith and
Oh we had UH Jeff in downtown asking for a
U of H cougar breakdown, which I think he was
just trying to depress you going into the Weekend's kind

(01:00:53):
of fair. Jeff makes me depress freankling with his phone calls.
And then we had the call about the MLB strike zone,
so it's kind of what the essence of and he
goes Friday is right there for you, and you already
to make a prediction on the Texans game. I did
right now. Yes, I'm gonna steal your score. What I'll
let you say it first twenty eight to twenty I
got the same thing. Okay, six? Oh no, I actually moved.

(01:01:18):
It was six and a half out of five. A
lot of confidence in Vegas over there. But I'm saying
they cover that line. They cover the original line Lock
of a Week, even though the Texans money line was
my lock of a Week last week. It was the
money line pick of the week. Yeah, oh well, all
say this. Do you think we're gonna get confidence back
in this team or are you gonna say, well, you

(01:01:39):
kind of beat the second tier team in the division.
Are gonna be at home. The protection issues aren't going
to be as as prominent. They are playing an inferior team.
They're gonna win. I like, how you think? Quick question?
What does this say? NBA question for peach Basket?

Speaker 8 (01:01:54):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (01:01:55):
Did you put that?

Speaker 13 (01:01:56):
You know?

Speaker 4 (01:01:56):
I didn't know. I'm asking Connor? Was that Connor being
an editorial there on that? That is what Vince told me.
This ought to be quick. Vince, what do you need?

Speaker 12 (01:02:06):
Yes, sir, listen. I was watching the game the other night,
the Rockets game, and LaMelo ball. He palms the ball
all the time. Okay, and you got you got John.

Speaker 13 (01:02:17):
Morant coming in today. He's probably one of the worst.

Speaker 4 (01:02:20):
Of doing it as well.

Speaker 12 (01:02:21):
So I went to the NBA rules book to see
what is the actual rule about dribbling, and they don't
mention anything about that.

Speaker 13 (01:02:30):
So is it, like, wasn't that a rule where you
couldn't put your hand under the ball and hold it
and take two or three steps and keep dribbling or
they just they did they just delete that rule from
the book. I don't know, so I'm hoping you can.

Speaker 4 (01:02:46):
That, Vince. I will be honest with you. I've not
checked on the NFL and the NBA rule book in
quite some time. You don't have a printed out and
keep it with you in your in your bag?

Speaker 7 (01:02:54):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (01:02:54):
I don't, but maybe I should for calls like that. No,
I would assume that there's going to be a very
simple explanation and for what you can do with what
is constitute's illegal dribble. Now, I'm trying to find the
actual rule book. Is there even such a thing? A
player can't put his palm under the ball and turn
the dribble over? Well, there he gets on a website.
But yeah, I'll take We'll take that. Where's NBA rule book?

(01:03:16):
Why you do that? Well, we'll try to wake the
audience up here a little bit. We're gonna talk to
our buddy Derek Schultz in Indianapolis coming up in a
minute seven one three two one two five seven ninety
seven one three two one two five seven ninety I
have been telling you for weeks now that Martin spoon

I wouldn't say super busy season for Martin, which means
you need to get in there right now to get
your trees prune, to get him deep root fed so
they can withstand any issues with the winter coming up,
and then make sure they're going to be the very
best come springtime. That's why you call Martin. You know

(01:04:01):
nothing about your trees. Martin will come to your house,
give you an assessment, and treat them like they so
richly deserve to be treated. That's because they're a big
part of your neighborhood, and they're a big part of
your house, and you're a big part of your property.
Seven one three, six nine nine two six sixty three.
Number once again is seven one three, six nine nine

Affordable Tree Service Texans on three.

Speaker 2 (01:04:31):
Back to Battle Red Ross and Liberty White ass, Matt Thomas, what.

Speaker 7 (01:04:38):
Is what I am?

Speaker 6 (01:04:40):
Real pale Texans talk continue to spawn the Matt Thomas Show.

Speaker 4 (01:04:46):
Yeah yeah, this is just the rudest line that we
have and it just never stops. That's one of my favorites.
I know it is. You buy up right it. I
didn't write that one. Liberty white ass Thomas say that.
Let's see, this is very rude. It is, doctor you

(01:05:06):
get you're getting broken up about it? All right? No,
not happy? All right, let's talk to I'm gonna talk
to my friend because you're not my friend. A man
who's got more jobs in Indianapolis than I have in Houston,
Derek Schultz. He is with Purdue University, I s he
is Portsnet, IBJ News, Indie Monthly, Golden Black dot com.

(01:05:27):
And you're also an uber driver. Correct.

Speaker 6 (01:05:31):
That's the only thing I'm not doing. Uh yeah, I
I I don't know why I list all those things
in there. You know, Twitter is not LinkedIn, so I
should probably just lead that to my LinkedIn. But I
want to sound like relevant and important.

Speaker 13 (01:05:41):
Matt.

Speaker 6 (01:05:42):
I don't know the radio show like you know.

Speaker 4 (01:05:44):
What, You're just a Bragger's what you are. That's all
I want to tell you, but we always appreciate you.
You've been coming on us for a long time when
we certainly appreciate your visit with us. Alight, I'm gonna
give you a blanket statement without watching every game involving
mister Richardson, he sucks, right, Look, there are here?

Speaker 6 (01:06:03):
How do I handle this diplomatically? There are serious and
legitimate reasons for concern. That said, I do think that
some of his struggles so far can be explained away
because we're still talking about a guy who has made
at last count. I think nine NFL starts. Nine starts

(01:06:24):
is not a lot. Nine starts certainly is in a
sample size that you can go on. But are there
red flags for Richardson and the completion percentage and the
things that we talked about being red flags as a
prospect and those red flags not being unraised. Yeah, absolutely,
there there are real legitimate concerns about Anthony Richardson with
where he is about halfway through year number two.

Speaker 4 (01:06:42):
Now, because we saw him obviously in week one throw
the deep ball beautifully, but the intermediate routes are a
disaster right now? Why why do you think that is?

Speaker 6 (01:06:52):
It's just something that he hasn't gotten a hold of.
You know, Matt, it's not a processing problem. He seems
to be making the right reads and he's throwing to
the appropriate parties. The problem for him is that he
can't put the ball where it needs to be. And
it's not like the Colts. You know, you've been covering
these Texans Colts games for a long time. I mean,
the Colts had a couple of years there was like

(01:07:13):
t Y Hilton, you me and Ross out there that
was their receiving corps, you know what I mean. And
now they do have some legitimate players and some legitimate talent,
and Josh Downs went a great rookie year and Michael
Pittman junior who's a very good like a high WR
two low WR one type. Alec Pierce has had a
little bit of a coming out party here. So they
have talent and weapons as far as pass catchers, but

(01:07:33):
he just can't put the ball where it needs to be. Now,
he still has the legs. Now that gives everybody here
severe anxiety because he's injury prone, so they don't like
when he gets hit. But that's still an elite trait
that he has. And it looks like He's gonna get
Jonathan Taylor back this week. That's another thing about Richardson, guys,
that I think at least needs to be talked about.
And this is me being a Richardson apologistic defender. Okay,

(01:07:54):
full disclosure. He's only had four games with Jonathan Taylor
in the backfield at the same time, and I think
that's something that he can really lean into, and they
can lean into each other and make this a more
effective offense and obviously make Richardson a more effective signal caller.

Speaker 4 (01:08:09):
Yeah, Ross with you here too, Derek. And what is
the pulse of the fan base. What are they feeling like?
Is there like a Joe Flacco faction, a Richardson faction?
How are things handled there with the Colts fans about
this quarterback situation.

Speaker 6 (01:08:24):
There's definitely the Flaco faction because I think that's what
Colts fans are used to. They really like crappy old veterans.
They liked Gardner Minshew, you know what I mean. They
liked Philip Rivers even though Rivers was obviously he was
a good player. Matt last year, I mean, yeah, Matt
Ryan didn't go so well. You guys saw what happened
with Carson Wentz as well. This has been just kind
of a long line of that, and then there are
some fans that are like, look, who cares about this year?

(01:08:46):
The number one thing about this year is finding out
if Richardson's the guy. If he's not the guy, then
you go ahead and move on. So it's been a
little bit split. But there's just a lot of frustration
here because this is now the tenth season since they've
won the division. They've won one playoff game in that span,
and a lot of this fan base was used to
the heyday of the Peyton Manning and the early Andrew Luckiers,

(01:09:08):
where you roll out of bed, you win ten, eleven,
twelve games, you win this division and you know, call
me in January. And for a long time now, for
almost a decade, that hasn't been the case. So I
think that frustration is really what's wearing thin and is
making people less patient with Richardson and this current team.

Speaker 4 (01:09:22):
You mentioned Jonathan Taylor coming back should be big. Also,
DeForest Buckner, what does he mean to this Colts defense.

Speaker 6 (01:09:29):
I mean, he's the whole, He's the foundation that the
house is built upon. He's not only is he the
best player on their defense and arguably the best player
on the entire team. But he sets the whole tone
for everything that they want to do, which is start
with stopping the run and allowing the pass rushers to
do what they do best, which is to rush the
passer and not have to worry about the opposing team's

(01:09:50):
running back. So I don't think you can understate what
Buckner's value is. And that's one thing the Colts have
going for them. I mean, this is a really critical game.
Surprisingly it's for first place, because the Colts stylistic style
points wise, have not looked like anything close to a
first place team. But they get their two most important
players back, likely both of those guys quote unquote tracking
very well. According to Shane steich In earlier today to

(01:10:11):
play on Sunday.

Speaker 4 (01:10:12):
The big issue here in Houston has been the fact
that the offensive line has just not protected C. J.
Stroud anything close to what it was a year ago.
You're adding Butckner to the mix. Overall, though, what has
the defensive pass rush been like for the Colts this year?

Speaker 6 (01:10:27):
Just kind of okay, it's been about what it's been
the last couple of years. Laotu Latu, who was their
first round pick, who was actually the first defensive player
drafted in the twenty twenty four class, has really flashed.
He got another sack last week. They still really like
Dio Dangbo, who was a draft a second round pick
a couple of years ago. But it's been a little

(01:10:47):
bit pass rush by committee, where you know, they've got
a bunch of guys who are like eight to ten
sack level guys and not a guy like a Robert
Mathis or Dwight Freeney, you know, I keep you up
at night type guy that you have the game plan for.
They're hoping that Latsu can be that guy. But this
is a pass us that that has been effective and
can continue to be effective. And you know, it's not

(01:11:08):
anemic like it was a couple of years ago. They've
really improved that room, all right.

Speaker 4 (01:11:12):
So if Richardson plays the efficient game, tell me what
his line looks like in terms of passing yards, completions,
How much is he running, how much is he being
able to avoid getting hurt, because obviously that was a
huge part of the reason why he his season was
so short last year.

Speaker 6 (01:11:29):
Yeah, I think an a ficient game for him. And
you guys are gonna laugh at this, but this is
kind of how low the bar is. I think an
efficient game for him is like twelve of twenty can
you get that off?

Speaker 7 (01:11:41):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (01:11:41):
Can you get that fifty five to sixty percent? I
mean that's how low the bar is right now. I
mean that would be an improvement based on who he's been.
But twelve of twenty four bucks fifty a bucks seventy
five and then fifty to seventy five on the ground,
a couple of touchdowns, maybe limited to one or zero turnovers.
I think most Colts fans would take that, really, guys.
That's the most troubling thing. Like with Richardson, there had

(01:12:04):
been moments, There's been a throw a series, even sometimes
a quarter. I remember the beginning of the game last
year in Houston. He looked amazing for the first quarter
and a half before he ended up leaving the game.
The problem is is that we don't really have a
game to point to in Indianapolis where you say, hey,
that was a really good game for Anthony Richardson. And
you know that's troubling about a year and a half

(01:12:26):
in that you can't really point to a full four
quarters and say, hey, that was a really good performance.
We're only getting little flashes and plays and throws kind
of mixed in there.

Speaker 4 (01:12:36):
You said fifty to seventy five yards. Is that what
Shane Stichin wants? Is that number of rushing Ritsromis quarterback?

Speaker 6 (01:12:42):
Yeah, he's not scared about running him, and he's come
out and said as much. He knows that that is
the NFL ready skill that he can tap into right away.
Everything else requires more development as far as him being
a quarterback and especially him being a passer, but the
running stuff translates right away, and they know that using
Richardson and having that threat unlocks Taylor as well. One

(01:13:05):
thing that's held the Colts back the last couple of
weeks is that they've had Tyler Goodson and Trey Sermon
back there, who are you know, basically practice squad level
running backs. And then with Joe Flacco when he has started,
the running game hasn't been a threat at all. But
with Richardson and Taylor, that's something that opposing defenses are
really going to have to pay attention to it and
maybe can unlock some things in the passing game as well. Again,

(01:13:27):
as long as Richardson can tap into some semblance of accuracy.

Speaker 4 (01:13:31):
All right, you mentioned first place on the line. Of course,
there's a lot of football still to be played, But
how do you feel this one plays out on Sunday.

Speaker 6 (01:13:39):
Yeah, I feel that it's going to be probably pretty
similar to Game number one. I think once you get
Taylor and Buckner back, that gives the Colts much more
of a fighting chance. Also, you take Nico out of
the equation as well, who's caused them a lot of problems.
I'm seeing again a close loss. It would be great

(01:14:01):
for the Colts to go in there and win, but
this is really a murderous stretch that they're about to
go into. And frankly, guys, in the last couple of weeks,
they've beaten a hurt Will Levis. They've beaten the Miami Dolphins,
who I think had me at quarterback yep for most
of that game. They've eaten a lot of competitions in
the Chicago Bears, They've been a lot of light competitions
so far. This is a real step up here where
they get the Texans and the Vikings and the Bills

(01:14:22):
and a bunch of real contenders.

Speaker 4 (01:14:25):
All Right, great hearing your voice. I'll let you go
back to that Kaitlyn Clark fan convention you were at
earlier today and we'll talk in maybe come playoff time.
You never know. Thanks Derek for the visitors always.

Speaker 6 (01:14:34):
I'll send you guys a signed jersey.

Speaker 4 (01:14:35):
How about that? Oh, you know what I would do it.
I'll put on an eBay right away. They could get
some value out of that. Hey, thanks for the guest.
All Rudy Seeler, Derek Schultz, get us some kayl and
Clark autographed gear. Ross, I'll tell you that, I'll take
that for a decade. That's your retirement plan. O. Yeah,
but if you didn't play, they have a little lockout.
What are you gonna do about that? I'll play eventually, yeah,

(01:14:57):
will all right? One on Sports Talks, Ross, Where is
your non Florida story from today? From outside of the
state of Florida? Man, I mean, why do you always
ask that? Because I want to put you on the spot.
It's the exactly where you found. It is from a Romania.
Mine is from a Germany. Wow, so not too far away.
It doesn't involve an airplane either. For once. Those are

(01:15:18):
kind of my favorite. Matt we might have the same one.
Oh oh yeah, you'll gonna do go ahead and convenece. Okay,
if you have my story, I'm gonna let you have it,
because I'm gonna go try to find one that's a
little more cedre. Okay. Seven one three two one two
five seven Natti seven one three two one two five Sevenatti,
it's one forty five Matt Thomas shild Ross continues here
on Sports Talk Sevenatti. This is Ricky Williams. I may

(01:15:42):
have worn a wedding dress on a magazine cover, but
it still looks better than any outfit Matt can put together.
Let your wife dress you man. Texas fine, Texas fine.
Back to Matt Thomas on Sports Talk seven ninety. All Right,

(01:16:03):
so Connor did steal my U non Florida story.

Speaker 13 (01:16:06):
Steal?

Speaker 4 (01:16:10):
Nobody olds one story in the sea for the segment.
Steal is a strong term. It's just for the segment,
all right. Seven one three two one two five seven
ninety seven one three two one two five seven ninety
I'm looking at I always go to the New York
Post for stories sometimes because they always they're a little
slatious over there in that publication. Do you know that

(01:16:32):
Bill Belichick's girlfriend's twenty four years old. Yes, I've heard
that before, I mean stated some older other older men, right,
or am I thinking of al Pacino's lady. Well, al
Pacino's lady birth the child al Pacinos, So he's in
his eighties right?

Speaker 5 (01:16:50):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:16:51):
But damn, why would any attractive twenty four year old
want to hang out with an old seventy something plus coach?
You know there's somebody for everyone, Matt, Is that what
it is? Yes? And Bill Belichick's probably got a lot
of money. Oh I think he does too, for sure.
But I'm just saying, I mean, you can still find
fifty four year old dudes with money. Well, maybe she

(01:17:14):
likes eighty year old dudes. Is that a fetish or
some sort of death or death matic with a grandpa issue?

Speaker 5 (01:17:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:17:22):
But if if I'm seventy five and a twenty four
year old wants to hook up with me, you're not kidding,
I'm gonna what Well if, of course, if, well, you're
happily married now, yeah, so it will be an issue.
Theoretical we're in the out of the multiverses where you're
not married at this point, you wouldn't I'd sign a prenup.
I can tell that for damn sure, marry me all

(01:17:44):
you want. You're not getting my money. You'd be yeah, whatever,
be jumping in with both feet. You wouldn't even think
about it. You you think so little of me. Uh,
I don't know how to respond to that Statement's adult.
Don't even do it. Don't even do it? Seven two

(01:18:07):
one two seventy. So dar buddy, Derek Schultz likes the
Colts to lose the Texans for a second time. I
mean at the Colts, let me take it. And not
that I'm something football savann, but the the Texans are
significantly better than the Colts. Pittman's been a major disappointment
this shirt receiver. They haven't had Jonathan Taylor consistently week
after week after week. He's coming back, but Christ Budner

(01:18:29):
coming back Hart and sold the defense. Okay, well, it's
gonna take a while to get the Engines reped up again, right,
I didn't. I guess they've been practicing, getting ready to go.
I mean, even though you are missing Niko and he
has been a cult killer. Yes, it's not like Stefan
Diggs can't move down the field. Not that they can't
use Dalton Schultz more in the offense. Not that they

(01:18:51):
can't get they can make a concerted effort to start
get tanked Dell More involved in the offense. Mm hmmm.
It's just you know what you kind of need. You
need ten to fourteen point win to get your mojo
back a little bit. And if you don't, you're really
gonna have some people you you think Stan Norfleys but
wanting to jump off the the off the bridge after

(01:19:12):
last week's loss. If they lose the Colts, all those
fake Texas media people are gonna lose their mind because
I'm not gonna able to get a part of their
championship rings. So what you're saying is this is a
must win game. I'm not saying it must win game
because the division's porsche I mean poor, I mean it's
not good. Jack Wuarre's one two of the last three.

Speaker 2 (01:19:28):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 4 (01:19:28):
I got a tough part of their schedule coming up, though. Yeah,
Titans are a hot mess. Titans are terrible. Yeah, they're
they're giving up. They're literally trading away their receivers. They're
giving up. They're gonna have to go get a quarterback,
Yes they are, because they ain't well, and that's what
Thomas Sports Enterprise. The sports enterprises will have the official
to take the l when they draft a quarterback in
the first round. Well, you know what, maybe he was
drafted in the second round. Maybe he can have a

(01:19:50):
late career renaissance like Baker Mayfield or Sam Darnold. But
right now at Tennessee and what he can renaissance unless
you've had some good times to begin with. But he's
not the ball over He's not that bad. The problem
is he's just turning the ball over a ton, and
they're the worst kind of turnovers. They're not the ones
that are deflected or it was in tight covered or
fifty fifty maure Well, Thomas Sports Enterprises remains bullish. M hm,

(01:20:14):
but we're backing off slightly. You noticed we've not had
much concerning him.

Speaker 8 (01:20:18):
Now.

Speaker 4 (01:20:19):
I know, it's fine, the mayonnaise eater. The fact is
this is a tough week for the text. You got
the Sunday game and then you go to New York
on Thursday. Not granted the Jets are not very good,
but it's a short trip trip, yes, sure road long trip.
They could have a Son Reddick back by then. The
Jets what's going on with that situation? Apparently they're the
sides are meeting now that his his ca AA fired him.

(01:20:42):
You should explain what he does his agency. Yes, a
son Reddick. He's a very good defender for the Jets.
Didn't the Jets trade for him to begin with? And
then he hasn't played or hasn't remember. I think he
just wants a deal and he's been holding out. He's
lost like he's been hemorrhaging money. Yeah, he's lost millions
and millions, and it's holding out and the Jets hold
all the control, they have the leverage yet Yeah, so
they're like, you know, I won't get in until every negotiate.

(01:21:04):
Well then, well he hired Drew Ro's in house. Now
they're gonna try to iron it out. So Drew's gonna
save this thing.

Speaker 5 (01:21:10):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:21:10):
I hope not. I hope He's not playing against the Texans,
all right, So that's coming up on Thursday, So I
don't almost see. It's Thursday night. Bit every week. It's
tough on these teams. Let mean, are the worst teams
winning on Thursday night? Or is the home team just
have a significant event? I mean, there was the Rams
are three point dogs last night, but the Rams are

(01:21:32):
nothing close in terms of talent. Who's going to coup
back and Cooper cut back? And both of those guys
are funny enough. You get to your best, your two
best receivers back in the offenses a lot better. They
scored what twenty eight to thirty points on the best
defense in the league. Thursday night game Week two, The
first one was Bill's won by three touchdowns at Miami. Well,
their Bills are a better team. Who was brain exploded?

(01:21:53):
Jets won by three touchdowns against the Patriots. Patriots suck, yes,
and then the Cowboys barely one of the Giants the
week after that, and then the Falcons beat the Buccaneers
in overtime. Well, there's I don't see a train.

Speaker 5 (01:22:06):
That was it.

Speaker 4 (01:22:07):
Yeah, it was a back and forth. That was actually
a really good game. And the Bronco through like five
hundred yards, stole the souls of any remaining member of
the New Orleans Saints fan community last week spills so
Ratla couldn't come through. Yeah, it's bad, it's bad, all right.
Seven one three two one two five seven nine zero
seven one three two one two five seven ninety It
is anything goes Fridday. What is your prediction on the game.

(01:22:29):
I have it as twenty eight twenty. What that's my prediction? Yeah,
twenty That's how I know I'm gonna be way wrong. No,
you should feel good that somebody's backing you up on
your prediction. That's a Texans covering and over for those
of you playing at home. Yeah, those are you playing
at home? I have the Cougars beating Utah, okay in

(01:22:49):
a low scoring affair. Okay, twenty to seven, bandy in
the upset. Correct, I have Texas beating Vanderbilt. If you
made an LSU and n prediction, LSU, and we'll keep
in mind who our bosses are at, LSU will win
an A and m Oo spicy, and there will only
be one undefeated in league team remaining. And then LSU
where they where they have the they have the leade

(01:23:11):
like the leaders in the clear path. Yeah, the championship
Yeah probably.

Speaker 10 (01:23:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:23:15):
If you stay unefeated in the league, you're going to
the championship game. Everybody else has a loss. I mean,
could there be other two losses left in LSU schedules?
My question, I don't know, And that's a question for Gordy.
Let's see number eight in the land. They play at
A and M home versus Alabama. Alabama needs to get
a revenge game back to it so they can get
their stake in the championship game at Florida and then

(01:23:35):
home for Vandy and home for Oklahoma. So really, if
they beat Alabama, they're going to the SEC championship game,
and of course A and M in Vanderbilt, and do
your boy diego Pavia eleven touchdowns, one pick, having a
good year, they upset Alabama. I saw him very very lucky. Well,

(01:23:56):
they did lose to Georgia Southern, just saying or Georgia State,
one of those one in Georgia State, one fifty eight
on Sports Talk seven ninety nine Florida stories and a
half an hour, But laeve it or not? Today is
all things about the World Series. I was gonna say,
how did you know that? But now I remember, go Dodgers,
Go Dodgers, Let's go Dodgers. I still feel like a

(01:24:19):
dirty horse, saying, can you you want Brian Cashman to
get a ring after what he said? No chance. I
don't want to even get a ring. I want the
game to be canceled due to a lack of interest
with the two biggest brands. I'm curious to see how
these ratings look. First of all, they're gonna blow away
the lowest ratings ever from last year there like by
seven one three two one two five seven ninety seven
one three two one two five seven ninety final hour

(01:24:40):
Matt Thomas Show is Ross Next.

Speaker 1 (01:24:44):
Lunchtimers, This is the Matt Thomas Show.

Speaker 6 (01:24:49):
All right.

Speaker 4 (01:24:49):
It is two oh three on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Good afternoon, it is Matt and Ross with the final
hour of the show seven one three two one two
five seven ninety seven to one three two one two
five seven ninety. I want my lines lit with Texans
people calling him with predictions and when I wanted, what

(01:25:11):
I get is two different things. Okay, I don't know.
I just tell me, give me, give me. The pulse
of the city. The pulse of the city says that
they get really excited for the game about Sunday, about
eleven o'clock in the morning. Better than that. Interest is up,
but they're not exactly taking over the city yet. And
that's basically how things because the five and Saw five

(01:25:34):
and two is that the reason why tell me. I
wouldn't call it that. Things are looking up, okay, but
you need to see you need years of sustained winning.
It took that with the Astros. It took that with
the Rockets. Well in the nineteen nineties. The interest was up,
and we took a lot of Rockets calls back around

(01:25:54):
sixteen seventeen eighteen when they were making Western Conference finals.
I just want, I'm asking for is it? And look,
we don't have anything Astros to get to. I know
we got a huge Astros audience. There's nothing new on Bragmant.
We won't know anything on Bregmant at all until at
least five days after the World Series, because the Astros
will offer him a qualifying deal, he'll decline it decline,
and then the conversation begins after that. You know, I

(01:26:19):
think our college interest is spread out over a bunch
of different schools, fractured. I don't know what the spread
out spread out it's worth. Yeah, fracture would be that.
That sounds like it's nobody wants any part. Uh, you know, art,
do Texans fans just check out of the game because

(01:26:40):
it's the Colts coming up? I don't know, because we
didn't get much buzz for the game against Buffalo going in.
We got zero buzs in the New England game going in.
Everybody's locked in on the election, Matt.

Speaker 5 (01:26:50):
Is that what it is?

Speaker 4 (01:26:50):
Yeah? Maybe there's getting dozens of calls on ktr H. Well,
all I know is I'm leaving for the toilet center early.
I don't get caught up any traffic. Yeah, ridiculous. So
you have all these celebrities going to these political conventions,
these rallies. If I was to run for political office, Ross, Yes,
who should I bring with me to my rally? Taylor?

(01:27:13):
Matthis you let her be girls going through enough for
her issues right now. That's I don't know who's who
are your celebrity friends. I would go Paul McCartney, bun
Bee and Paul and Bunbee. Paul McCartney does not know
who you are? Well if if, if he believed in
the political I don't. What's your political platform have you
running on? I'm not running on for I'm running you

(01:27:35):
know I'm running on. No more texts from political people.
That'd be great. One just to get your message out
by my my vocal cords. Maybe a text city text.
I would here's here's my political philosophies. Okay, no more
reclining seats on airplanes, no matter, come on, nope, nope,

(01:27:56):
you're not getting my vote. I thought you would be
voting on band wave platform. Ban the wave twelve months,
full mcribs available at all. Oh yeah, they're not getting
my vote at all. Gambling in Texas pork gristled sheets
year round, that's what should that's the platform. You're choosing,
Matt with tangy barbecue sauce, delicious pickles, onions and a

(01:28:18):
toasted butN full time gambling. Well like that, Now you're
getting me in my vote. Four day work weeks now, okay,
I'm in.

Speaker 1 (01:28:27):
Let's go.

Speaker 4 (01:28:30):
What else? And lower Uber costs I ever have to
drive again? Lower Uber costs? Yeah, well you're gonna talk
to Uber about that. Yeah, drivers aren't making It's not
like the drivers are just you know, here are the
things about drivers that makes me sad. And I don't
know if they're doing this because they want me to
tip them more or whatever. But I've had the two
of the last maybe five or six Uber rides I've
been in saying they've asked me how much I've paid

(01:28:50):
for the route that I was on, and I would
tell them and then goes, oh, we're only getting twenty
five thirty percent of that. Mmm, they probably shouldn't be
asking me correct. No, that's interesting. I don't know if
if Uber changed the I thought that they generally the
driver I thought made like seventy percent or something. I
don't think it's that much at all. But that guy,

(01:29:13):
the guy that was that took me from the airport
to my house made me feel terrible for him, so
I gave him alargauz general. Maybe airports could be different.
That's true. Maybe airports are different. Uh, seventy five percent
of the fare price is what this Google says.

Speaker 7 (01:29:27):
Is that right?

Speaker 4 (01:29:28):
That's pretty good then, plus you get one hundred percent
of tips. It's yeah. I don't think it's a it's
a pathway to to Uh, nobody's retiring on my job
as a stockbroker to drive cars.

Speaker 5 (01:29:42):
I get that.

Speaker 4 (01:29:43):
Yeah, but you gotta get lucky. You gotta find the
right spots.

Speaker 7 (01:29:48):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (01:29:48):
You got to be in places where fares are going
to surge. And well, back when I was driving, there
was no tips. Maybe I should get back into it.
I think you should. I've told you on multiple occasions.
I really want you driving for the stories. I got
no stories. See, you do have stories. You've never told
the stories, and you're never going to tell the stories.

(01:30:10):
No stories, no stories. You've got them, I swear to
God you do, but you won't tell them. What if
I paid you to tell them? Nothing? Well, now then
maybe we can talk. But you know we can called
uber forms. Remember how penthouse forms back in the day.
H h Yeah, I was all made up. So I'll
make up some stories if you're gonna pay me. No,
I need to be organic and true. If I didn't

(01:30:31):
hate driving, i'd be an Uber driver. Yeah, you do
hate driving, but it's really I mean, the thing about
Uber that's really good and it's also left is that
you work your own hours. Yes, you can pick up
any ride you want to or say no. They don't
command you to go somewhere. If you're living comfortably enough
to where you can have a car where that's the
only thing you do in that car, it's it's probably

(01:30:54):
it's a good side gig. I think if I had
to maintained the car and all that stuff and clean it,
if I had an electric car, probably would do it.
Where I live. I know that there's people that do
Uber driving because uh, I see them always cleaning their
car and stuff and literally that one time I called
an uber at my place and they picked me up.
Really yeah, they were in there. We were in the
same parking lot. What a shady deal that is? Why

(01:31:17):
is it shady?

Speaker 8 (01:31:17):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:31:18):
There's waiting to pick up fares and there you're sitting
at home waiting for a fair to ping, and then
at ping then it happened to be at my play.
So no, it's not shitty though. That's actually very smart
on their behalf. It's coincidental. Yeah, but see, I think
if we're going to go to an uber, we need
to do something more like should we have uber themes?
What do you mean? Like Uber sports talk? Uber?

Speaker 12 (01:31:39):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (01:31:39):
I like that Uber Uber political talk. Oh, I wouldn't
want to get in that one. Like if you were
voting for Kamala Harris, you could you would only you
could only talk about democratic politics. Democratic politics. Well, sometimes
I get in the Uber and they have seven ninety on.
Mine is usually eclectic eighties music, like yeah, it's I mean,

(01:31:59):
it's up in a couple of times at em is
that they call it, M Yeah, I have, I have
DM had half the time interesting usually never mind, but
I've gotten in a few times when they've had seven
ninety on. Then I'll I'll start talking sports with it.
Do you do you act stupid? Like, do you ever
listen to that show?

Speaker 11 (01:32:15):
I do?

Speaker 4 (01:32:15):
Absolutely? Has it worked out? Okay, Well because my Uber
account it has my first name, which is Paul Oh,
so you could actually get away with it, yes, and
then sometimes and yeah, yeah, Connor had this happen to him, right,
and and then at the end of the ride, I'll
be like, oh, my name is Ross, I'm on the
The Matt Thomas Show. And thank god my name's on
the show now. So I don't sound so stupid. You're welcome.

Speaker 5 (01:32:39):
I guess.

Speaker 4 (01:32:39):
I don't know, okay, but well, yeah, I would. I
would have to do. We didn't. If we're going to
create another business, we gotta we gotta, we gotta make
it ours ubers separate from everybody else. But Connor, Connor,
weren't you somebody was listening? Or what happened when I
forget you were tweeting about it.

Speaker 14 (01:32:54):
I was on the way to the airport, Yeah, and
I walked in the I sat in the car and
he was listening to seven to ninety and I asked
him what his favorite show was, and he said was
a Matt Thomas show.

Speaker 4 (01:33:02):
You give him a big tip? Oh yeah I did. Yeah,
that's good. Yeah. If you ever, if you ever take
me anywhere in this town, which I ride dubers sometimes
here in Houston, I'll if you mentioned my show name,
you're gonna forty percent bump. Wow. If you mentioned another
station town, especially with a pair of hosts that I
don't like, you're gonna get no tip and zero stars
hashtag bad taste.

Speaker 5 (01:33:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:33:22):
I've never been in a car, thankfully where they said
they didn't like the show. That hasn't happened to be
really awkward.

Speaker 5 (01:33:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 14 (01:33:28):
I wouldn't have told him I was the producer if
you said he didn't like the Matt Thomas.

Speaker 4 (01:33:32):
Kay, that's good, that's good.

Speaker 5 (01:33:33):
That's good.

Speaker 4 (01:33:34):
All right, it's back to the time you should have
confront them. Yeah, you know what you like, You gotta convert. Yeah,
you get your job will be to convert. Okay, Like,
have you listened to the Friday Show opens? They're pretty good.
The Friday Show opens are fantastic. I mean, people around
the city tuning in Fridays at noon. Yes, yeah, seven
one three two, one two five seven ninety seven one

(01:33:54):
three two, one two five seven nine zero. World Series prettytions. Well,
we know you have Dodgers and five that was locked
in very early, terrible. It's to tell the bad takes.
So by the way I was listening, I was watching
the Today Show today. Okay, they're remember they're not sportsy

(01:34:16):
people at all. They are faux sportsy. They're yeah, they
pretend to be sportsy. Yeah, the series everyone in the
country has been waiting for. I don't think so. No,
the evil Empires. I get a feeling that Billings, Montana
didn't really particularly care was in the World Series. Yeah,
and do you think it's kind of an added element
of because it's an uncapped because baseball's payrolls are uncapped

(01:34:39):
and those are two of the biggest spenders. I think
if it were too evil, what are the evil empires of, say,
I mean, we don't have this another sports basketball when
it's Celtics and Lakers, don't I don't think people are
as tuned out, No, they think nflould What would the
the absolute evil empire would be Cowboys and who oh
the bitter rival and the AFC side would be the

(01:35:01):
Raiders or Steelers. That's a hard cap league.

Speaker 5 (01:35:06):
I say.

Speaker 4 (01:35:06):
I just feel like whoever's in the super Bowl, whoever
it is? No, I think the people the reason why
people tend to think that the Dodgers Yankees is a
sexy series is because it's La versus New York, It's
West Coast versus Broadway. But I think a lot of
the backlashes. Those are two of the hugest spending teams
over the years, and it's like, oh, you're buying World
Series rings. But the average fan, but the average person

(01:35:27):
come by fan, the average person doesn't know that on
some of the average person. I'm just talking about the
average people who are into baseball and like kind of
soured somewhat on this series. But let me ask you this.
I know for me, when the Astros don't make it
for the World Series, who's the most attractive team you
want to see from the American you see nobody don't
know the Orioles se Yeah, you don't. You don't even believe,

(01:35:49):
Like Elias and the Boys, you don't believe it. Oh,
the Jacksons and the Jets and the whoever they have
the ad Ley's. My answer, honestly is I don't care who.
If it's not the Astros, I'm not going to pay
much attention. Will I turn it on regardless of who
it is? Like I turned Diamondbacks Rangers on last year,
but it doesn't. But it was not very interesting, sick
human being. But I mean, I'll when I get like

(01:36:10):
we've got it. Tonight after the Rockets game, I'll be
going to the airport. I'll turn the game on the
radio and see who's winning, okay, Or I'll be listening
to the Rocket raund Go Dodgers. Yeah, I will say
wrapped with Dan Matthews. Yeah, I will say, go right
to swap so you can go and root on it.
One of his one of his college teams, the LSU Tigers,
Rockets and Grizzlies tonight at six thirty of the pregame

(01:36:31):
show with Adam Clinton. I'm sure will be great and
you'll be sitting in the stand North Fleets Teach tonight.

Speaker 5 (01:36:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:36:36):
They stan Norfleet section is how it's known, even though
they're your tickets. Seven one three, two one two five
seven out eight is the Matt Thomas show with Ross
seven one three two one two five seven ninty.

Speaker 1 (01:36:47):
This is the Matt Thomas Show on Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 4 (01:36:58):
Ross will be giving you a full report on Dudes
on Dudes on his nightcab show. Next time he has
one's a minute by minute breakdown Dudes on Dudes and
then a minute three Rob Gronkowski lost his train of thought.
Then minute five he lost his train of thought again.
He said, Mom, want some more cheetos? Yes, you even

(01:37:20):
knows on meaheads called their mother's Tom Brady. And then
minute eight they started talking about Tom Brady again, and
then they said their name Dudes on Dudes, and they
started uh. Minute nine, ashock, twenty minutes awkward silence followed
by awkward laughter. It's a great program. I'm sure I
would download it if I cared seven one three two

(01:37:40):
one two five seven ninety seven one three two one
two five seven license Connor stold my non floora story.
I'm going, oh to New Zealand four miles not real? Yeah,
I said, a couple of weeks ago, I had one.
I lost it. Where's my store?

Speaker 12 (01:37:53):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (01:37:54):
I was gonna do the one, the North Dakota one.
I'll find it. Okay, we got that coming up at
the bottom of the hour seven one three, two one
two five seven nine zero. So we're going, let's go Dodgers.
We got that taken care of. Let's go Texans. Yes,
let's go Tigers or let's go Eggies. On Saturday night,
I think Ellish wins, but you know the middle Son's

(01:38:15):
and Aggie, so I got I kind of have to
help him root for his squad. I had the rooting
interest in that one. I don't think. Yeah, what else
we got going? Let's go Niners. Beat the Cowboys, put
them under five hundred and three and four. Sure, go Diners. Yeah,
I always root against the Cowboys every week. It's fun.
It is easy, isn't it. Yeah, because when Jerr is mad,
America is happy. Does Jerry even know where he is happy? Yes,

(01:38:38):
he does, Matt, he knows when he's on a radio
show and he's threatening into those guys, John, I guess
apparently he went back on that show. Oh he did good?
How did it go? Let buy gowns be back on?
Oh good? He cooled off. Yeah, that's great. I will
give credit when general managers and coaches do weekly shows. Yes,
you used to have the monthly Jeff Luno Show. Yeah
that was fun. Yeah. That was also when the team

(01:38:59):
was losing ninety five game year and it's like, tell
us about this guy at w A Joel Spring. Yeah,
you knew every single you'd be talking about some guy
in low A Ball who was never gonna be anything,
twenty three years old and low A ball and he
still know everything about Well, that's what general managers supposed
to do. Yeah, that's what Dana Brown. I mean, that's
Dana Brown special. He was the monor leagues, or at
least drafting get Mona leagues put to put together. So

(01:39:19):
far they're draft I mean they've been promoting them aggressively.
Things have been going well. And the Matthews this year
we may see. Is it Derek Mountain?

Speaker 9 (01:39:26):
Is that who?

Speaker 4 (01:39:27):
Jacob Jacob Milton? Jacob Milton enterprising you know man, Yes,
he was. These are names we better start to memorize
and get to know because we're gonna lose some more
players here in the not too distant future. What are
you talking about. You're gonna need a new right fielder
and after next year you think so you knew, right,
you're gonna need a new third baseman this year coming up?

Speaker 7 (01:39:49):
Is it uh.

Speaker 4 (01:39:52):
Shay wickham season? I mean I would take Zach Desenzo,
but that that that was only try like for an
inn so and that was by necessity. I think defensively,
he does not profile as one who can handle that job.
Along term Shay Wicken, he had three airs and one
in the well a short term he looked pretty bad. Yeah,
that was the other setting records hashtag offseason. You never

(01:40:14):
want to set a record defensively at third base. It's
probably gonna be errors. All right, It's almost make some
more predictions. Okay, when we get together Monday at twelve noon,
will we be discussing, Wow, glad to have CJ with
that offensive line protection or CJ's a miracle worker again
being able to do what he did despite all the
pass rush. I think the it will be better. It

(01:40:37):
would be better. First of all, they're at home. Second
of all, you couldn't have played any worse than you
played last week. I can't be any worse than they
were last week. They were better in the second half. Yeah,
and the pass rush not is great for the Golts.
Bobby Sloan's been wearing it lately. People do not like

(01:40:59):
Bobby Push, but you loved him eight weeks ago when
the season started. Love the offseason and the off season.
No Bobby Slock is getting interviewed by who though with
Falcons or else. Bobby, please stay just to start of
something at the beginning of greatness here one more year,
one more year. Now week six, they're five and two
and six weeks and Bobby Slowack sucks. Okay, Shanahan Tree stuff.

(01:41:22):
Don't be surprised. They try to establish the run every week.
Guess what they're gonna try to establish a run this week?
Two shocking. You wanna go five wide and throw it
sixty times a game, that's not gonna be Bobby Slowik
and that's not gonna be this team. And that's that's
never been something that Demiko has ever wanted to talk about.
I mean, they're really good teams have controlled running games.

(01:41:42):
Not that you're giving it thirty five times a game
to you're running back, but you're you're using to make
sure that first down gets you four to five yards.
You're not setting yourself up with second and long and
the third and lungs. Because the more you do often
you do that, the more predictable. You becomings an offense,
and that's more turnover prone when you're finding yourself in
law long distances on second and third down. Look at

(01:42:03):
you met. But how about Bobby's lolow giving him credit?
Said that goofed yesterday? Yeah, he said, I never on me.
He says the third down play to take down was bad. Yeah,
they were expecting one coverage, they got another. And he
said he's not coaching the protections better. Well enough. Well,
the thing I don't necessarily understand. It's what he didn't

(01:42:23):
want to say was I didn't make it. That play
call didn't make any sense because if you were running
it on first and second down and you didn't get
what you wanted to get, Yeah, you might as well
force the Packers to burn the third time out because
you're giving him about the same amount of time.

Speaker 7 (01:42:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:42:39):
The well, he said, the play call, the intended play
calls for them to try to get a touchdown, so
they were trying to score. And again everything is everything
is glass classifl is twenty twenty, if that play would
have gone for a first on hindsight touchdown, oh what
a play call? You just sucker the man you were
thinking are gonna run in a third time? Yeah, run
on first go down goes negative one yards. This is stupid.

(01:43:02):
Why are we running on first down? Run on first
down goes for nine yards? Oh my gosh, great execution, guys.
Players got to execute as well. And nine times out
of ten, it's about the execution. I mean very rarely
have we ever seen a team look at the sideline
with their hands up in there like you want us
to do this? Yeah, if every run, if every run
play is blocked perfectly, it's a first down.

Speaker 5 (01:43:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:43:24):
If every pass play is blocked perfectly, well, okay, I
guess you can cover it, but you get my point.
If it's not executed, if people are blowing blocks Ginan Green,
then there's gonna be issues. But the fact is Bobby
Slow can call a perfect game and CJ. Strout can
make all the throws, which we know we can. The
line gave no chance to do that, and the line
did not play well in the fourth quarter when Joe

(01:43:45):
Mixon needed a few yards to get forward to get
even to the end zone threat for a touchdown to
make it a more than a field goal game. And
they'll be better this week. They're playing a worse defense.
They're at home. I expect a high scoring game for
the text. So if the Texans win this one, we're
gonna be like order is restored, feeling good. Had to
do what they had to do.

Speaker 7 (01:44:05):
Now.

Speaker 4 (01:44:05):
Just don't go lose one on a short week at
the Jets. And if they lose this game, it's full panic.
Texan Darlene cancels her trip to New York. No, she
wouldn't do that because she wants to get on TV.
So forget that. I said, Yeah, six and two versus
five and three and tied for first, that's that's yeah,
that's huge, important game this week. Do the Jets are

(01:44:27):
not very good? They could be better. DeVante Adams another
week of practice, Garrett Wilson is tough. Priests Hall is
a good running back. Yes, they're giving Breese Hall all
the carries now. They have too many start They have
too many stars on the team to be as bad
as they are.

Speaker 6 (01:44:43):
I agree.

Speaker 4 (01:44:46):
Maybe their offensive line sucks. I don't know. I've been
breaking down a whole lot of Jets too. Who watches
the Jets? Why would you? You should all be watching
the Jets because they're on national television. This year's version
of the Denver Broncos. Remember Denver was on national TV
every week last year like all good Jets, National Game. Great,
All right, now I'm Florida. Stories are up next to
twenty eight on Sports Talk seven ninety. Uh, we've got
believe it or not today coming up at two fifty.

(01:45:08):
It's all things about is it the history of the world? Serious?
Is that right? A history? And you really went back
to the archives to get some stuff? Yes, and these
are all eight fresh questions? Really? Yes? What kind of
your cheerios today? That's good? I don't know, an extra
bite desk. I don't have to stay around for never
mind for that night cap. Yeah, because that show nobody
cares about it. You just hey, I like doing the show.

(01:45:31):
I just don't like hanging out for three hours to
The right thing would be to put Wexler and Clanton
from three to seven. Well I don't, that's that's your opinion.
But they know they want to get the numbers up,
so they put me on at six. You know, is
that what it is?

Speaker 1 (01:45:45):
I'm kidding.

Speaker 4 (01:45:49):
You did most about those as those night camp numbers
are in the baseball She's an ironical enough. I didn't
boast anything, Oh I I I do have the comments

Speaker 1 (01:47:06):
With the people of Houston.

Speaker 10 (01:47:11):
It's time for non Florida.

Speaker 4 (01:47:18):
I'll time for non Florida.

Speaker 1 (01:47:28):
Stored on coast to coast will bring strange and wild.

Speaker 4 (01:47:36):
There's no alligator tails, but something that will make you smile.

Speaker 1 (01:47:44):
It's time for last from far and wild in this
crazy world, there's nowhere all.

Speaker 4 (01:47:59):
Right, mine is rather tame. I was gonna go with
cocaine and pizza. But oh I didn't mean to give
that story away. See how he bitterly spoils your story. God,
that was terrible. I apologize. No, no, no, it's it's
a tease.

Speaker 12 (01:48:15):
Child.

Speaker 4 (01:48:16):
If you like your cocaine and pizza, you'll find out next.

Speaker 12 (01:48:21):
All right.

Speaker 4 (01:48:22):
If you're flowing into the Duneton, New Zealand Airport, we've
found another airline story. Yes, the what now, Duneden, New Zealand.
I thought you said Dundee. I was like, there the
airport after Crocodile Dundee. No, no, dun Eden, do you
and the meat? I am Dunnedon New Zealand. Isn't there Dunedin, Florida? Yes,

(01:48:42):
there is the home of the Toronto Blue Jays. Okay,
go ahead if you haven't. Now, when you drop people
before I go in for there, when you drop somebody
off of the airport running through? What that what that's
like for you? When you drop a friend off at
the airport or at the airport, Yeah, and you park
and you get their luggage out, you give them a
hug and a smooch and maybe a quick squeeze and

(01:49:03):
then you get out of there. And how long would
that normally take? Okay, I'm glad you brought that up,
because the folks they're needed in the New Zealand Airport
are now adding a new three minute time limit on
goodbye hugs the airport drop off area. What are people
making out for two minutes? It is intended to prevent
lingering cuddles from causing traffic jams? Are they doing lingering cuddles?

(01:49:27):
Get a room. There is a sign outside the terminal
that says, quote max hug time three minutes.

Speaker 1 (01:49:33):
Nah.

Speaker 4 (01:49:37):
It says those seeking quote fonder farewells should head of
the airport's parking lot instead. The cuddle cap was imposed
in September to keep things in the cuddle cap was
imposed in September to keep things moving smoothly. And the
redesigned passenger drop off area outside the airport. It's the

(01:49:57):
airport's way reminding people that the zone was for quick
farewells only. How do they enforce this? It must be
cops that do it. Are they screaming at people? They
got a timer? Okay? Is it like a shot cluck
bur So, you described what ninety nine point nine percent
of the people do when you drop somebody off of

(01:50:17):
the airport. What does the other point one do? Does
it become a makeout session? Have you ever in my
life and I've been dropped off of the airport let's
just say five thousand times, Okay, I have never seen
anyone full of making out at an airport before they
leave off? Just leave, say goodbye. No, I've gotten in

(01:50:38):
a smooch or two. But again, this is a max
of about seventy five seconds, right, Yeah, I don't know.
I don't know what these New Zealand. Maybe it's a
cultural thing in New Zealand. Does they just sit there
and hold each other? Maybe they do that whole Uh
what's that stomping dance that they do? Maybe they do
all that. Now they want you to go to the

(01:51:02):
parking area. If you need a longer than three minute
huck m That's basically let's have sex in the car.
If we're going to be longer than three minutes, well
can't you do that beforehand? That's my point. You go
to the cell phone lot and start romping around? Why
do you why do you want to mess around on
the cell phone lot? Yeah, to use a baseball vernacular.

(01:51:25):
Can you get to first base in a cell phone lot? Oh? Gosh,
you just had to turn it here, didn't you? Second base?
You can? You can slide into home? How tended are
your windows?

Speaker 12 (01:51:43):
Now?

Speaker 4 (01:51:43):
I've heard of this, I've heard apologized for participating. I've
heard of people going. There's observation areas on Lee Road
by the bag report where people will probably have done things.
Observation area. Yeah you know your car? Oh you watch? Yeah,

(01:52:04):
But the poor people in Dunedin are having three minute
embraces before they leave. That seems absurd. Get the bags out,
tell him good luck, text him, tell them to text
you when you get there. Give a quick pick, peck,
kiss and get out. Okay, I agree, Matt so dunnedin.
Good for you for the cuddle cap and that is

(01:52:26):
my non Florida story. Okay, thank you, Matt. Only take
you to Minott or Minot, North Dakota, where there's a
woman named Ena Thea Kenoyer who was betrothed to Steven

(01:52:46):
Riiley Junior. And well, they had heard some good news
that they were going to inherit because of a death
in the family thirty million dollars. They with a state
lawyer on September third of twenty and twenty three. Later

(01:53:06):
that day, mister Stephen Riley became ill, with paramedics arriving
at his home the next day to find him unresponsive
and unfortunately, he was declared dead the next day. Sorry
to hear about that. After an investigation, police found that
Ena Thea Kenoyer, thinking that she was going to be

(01:53:30):
the beneficiary of a thirty million dollar windfall, poisoned and
killed her husband with anti freeze. Ooh, that's gotta be
painful and not tasty. It gets worse. Investigators also learned
that the inheritance was not real. They were getting scammed

(01:53:50):
by this inheritance lawyer who was trying to grift money
from them. She was a found guilty of murder and
Ryan Riley, the son, was very Upset released a statement
talking about how you took a son from his mother,
father from his son's et cetera, all for a scam.

(01:54:13):
She poisoned and killed her husband in North Dakota. Now
did she make a cocktail with this Andy Freeze in it?
Or how did did she just open his mouth and
port down his throat? I don't know. It does not specify,
just that she poisoned him with Annie for a Freeze
thinking she was gonna get thirty million dollars, but the
couple was getting scammed. We got to get the rights
to this movie. No, we don't, because I've got to

(01:54:34):
show somebody drinking Annie Freeze. I'm good, it's not gonna
be real acting. Yeah, there's murders and movies. I don't know.
Seventy five percent of movies, I don't know. I like
romanic commentats, I know you do. You're right, you like
if the Real Housewives were in it, you'd be down, Yeah,
that's true. Or remembers of Beverly Hills out on two
and Oho, and you like meeting somebody at the tree
farm and falling in love. In your lifetime movies, we

(01:54:57):
would you hear about Hallmark lately the hall movie. What happened?
The former casting agent at the Hallmark Channel is being
sued because they told the Hallmark Channel. The Hallmark Channels
told this casting agent stop hiring old people to be
in their movies. The old people Holly Robinson Pete who's

(01:55:17):
now sixty years of old, and Lacy Schobert who used
to be on Party of Five, she's forty two, And
they said, looking for some young talent. Okay, and how
do you How is the Thomas household handling this name?
I despise the Hallmark Channel, Matt, No, I like Lifetime movies.
They're much more salacious Hallmark. They always endpleasant, and I

(01:55:38):
don't like pleasant ending. So it's not tomato tomato. There's
a difference. Oh there is, Okay, Lifetime movie, y'all know,
y'all lddies listened to the show. No, there's a difference
between the Lifetime in the Hallmark. I have no idea.
Don't watch either one of them. No, I don't Real housewives,
all right. Tom m Conyer's got the story of the
twice spoiled story from Matt. Oh, it's twice teased. What's

(01:56:00):
your what's your favorite type of pizza? Guys, pepperoni and mushroom.
I'm gonna go with a classic supreme, a little bit
of everything. Have you ever had your favorite pizza? I thought, hmm,
you know where would go well with this some cocaine?

Speaker 12 (01:56:14):
No?

Speaker 14 (01:56:15):
No, Well if you would have answered yes, then this
German pizza who would have been the place for you.
German police busted at pizzeri in the western city of
Dussel Dwarf that also delivered a side order of cocaine
when customers asked for the item number forty on the menu.

Speaker 4 (01:56:27):
Ah, so you that was like the code word. Yeah, yeah,
I kind of get a side of number forty on
that Yeah, okay, interesting quote.

Speaker 14 (01:56:34):
That was one of the best selling pizzas, a German
criminal director told reporters. Police was first tipped off by
suspicious food and inspectors in March when drug squad officers
began observing the restaurant. They soon discovered why pizza number
forty was so popular. When police buzzed the apartment of
the pizzeria manager, the thirty six year old allegedly threw
a bag of drugs out the window, which quote fell

(01:56:55):
right into the arms of police officers. The bounty included
three and a half pounds of cocaine, fifteen ounces of
cannabis and almost three hundred thousand dollars in cash.

Speaker 4 (01:57:03):
Wow.

Speaker 14 (01:57:04):
The restaurant manager, who was released from detention just a
few days after, soon reopened his business and started and
started selling pizza number forty with a side of cocaine again.

Speaker 4 (01:57:12):
Ah wait did he make his cash bag to make bail?

Speaker 14 (01:57:15):
That gave it investigators an opportunity to look into the
supply chain, and after several weeks, oh one hundred and
fifty officers busted an entire drug ring in western Germany,
arrested three suspects, including the twenty two year old head
of drug the operation, and raided homes and businesses of
another twelve suspects. The pizza manager was arrested when he
tried to flee abroad and remains in custody. And before
you ask, police did not say how much the pizza

(01:57:37):
rea charged for the special number four I was won and.

Speaker 4 (01:57:40):
Do if you don't get it delivered in your house
and then thirty minutes is it free? Remember that scam
raminos used to have. Why was it a scam? Because
those drivers were getting in car action's getting their time
at thirty minutes. Yeah, that was a bad idea. It
was a really bad idea for Ramino's. Raminos in their
meatia okre pizza, good crust. Everything else is purely average.

(01:58:04):
Not a fan. I'd rather have Ritza hut and honestly,
it seems to have re They have reinvested in their ingredients.
I'd rather go with middle mess. No, no, Maze bread
is good, but that's it. No, I'm serious. I got
tricked into trying their their news. It's actually better. They
it seems like they reinvested in their product. It used

(01:58:26):
to be terrible and taste like cardboard. It's actually better.
Trust I'm good, okay, just saying all right, Uh, somebody
was asking about Taylor off air and I did check
her twitter. Accout, it's still closed in the lockdown protected posts.
You didn't follow on your burner, so you can't go
check the tweets. There is the way busters follow her. No,
what is she saying? She's saying nothing at this point, Well,

(01:58:47):
she's got to be tweeting something under the protected to

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships.
