Speaker 1 (00:00):
Is The Matt Thomas Show with Ross jed oh One
Inn h Town.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Good morning, and welcome to a Monday edition the Matt
Thomas showing Ross. This is Sports Top seven ninety. I mean,
good noe, what a day for Houston sports teams. My goodness. Look,
(00:39):
the Rockets played was one regulars is a game, so
I'm not gonna put them on the same level as
a Texans game that's got one of seventeen.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
But that was startling. How I know many of.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
You that are Texans fans were thinking, all right, here
comes the start of the offseason. Let's start getting into
draft conversation, and let's figure out if Nick Cassario's gonna
be able to keep his job. We got to figure
out what they're gonna do in terms of offensive line fixes,
wide receiver, maybe additional depth, certainly getting a new running
back in there. I mean, all sorts of things. It's
(01:15):
Davis Mills. Can't win with Davis Mills, but you did
an truly unbelievable come back yesterday for the Houston Texans.
Good morning, everybody. Four minutes past ten o'clock. It is
a Matt Thomas Show with Ross. Ross is out this week.
(01:35):
I am battling a cold. Not that I can't. I
mean I still look amazing. Okay, going, what did you say?
Speaker 3 (01:43):
It's okay taking a word for it, you should.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
I wanted to stay back in my king wistude because
I want to make sure that you were not going
to catch anything. So I'll be back tomorrow. But yeah,
it is when you're going back and forth between seventy
five degree temperatures and forty it kind of get messes
with your mind and brain a little bit so in
your body. So yeah, a little bit of the cold.
I feel good again, look spectacular, and ready to visit
with you today up until two o'clock. All right, So
(02:08):
back to the Texans for a second. Can I just
flat out and tell you how the hell have that happened?
I mean, here's the reality of my day. So I'm
watching the game on my phone and I'm doing my
pregame responsibilities for the Rockets against the Bucks yesterday and Milwaukee.
You know, it's a two thirty starts, so obviously I'm
(02:30):
gonna call the game. But I have my phone in
front of me, so during timeouts of the Rockets game,
I can see what's going on, and every time I
would check the Texans were making some sort of comeback,
and the Bills are in the Bills, the Jaguars are
going three and out, or Trevor Lawrence is doing something stupid.
By the way, I can say this and look, it's
not meant to be mean, because I'm a really friendly
(02:53):
person generally speaking, unless you get sideways with me, and
then I hate you more than life itself. And Trevor Lawrence,
I don't know if he's a good person. I don't
know if he's a bad person. I don't know if
he's the sweetest kid on earth. He has made a
lot of money in the National Football League in his
young NFL life, and he sucks. He really sucks. And
(03:17):
I mean, you can go through the rookie issues, the
sophomore slumps, the third year, there's film on you, or
you're just not very good. Imagine being the chosen one.
And I'm talking about before we ever stepped on the
field at Clemson, he was the chosen one, one dash one.
(03:41):
It was no if answer butts. He was going to
be one dash one for whomever team got him. And
Jacksonville got him. And he sucks. That whole team sucks.
That is now. Look, the Texans have to make plays
to win games, so it's not that elementary as well,
(04:02):
did the Texans win the game or did the Jaguars
lose it? It can't be that elementary. It's got to
take You have to take two to tango on that.
But with that being said, the Jaguars shook that game away.
I don't know what they were doing, and again I
didn't see every single intimate detail of it, but it
looked like they got uper conservative. The Texans Pastor Rush
(04:25):
started to really get in the way of Trevor Lawrence.
And then you got Davis Mills who just even though
he probably would start for maybe I don't know, four teams.
Max in the NFL was calm, it was cool and
never let him sell you sweat, and he delivered. He
(04:46):
was significantly better than the quarterback on the other side
of the field, and I mean significantly better. So if
I'm Jacksonville, I am flipping out, and I'm glad you
brought that up because on my for you tab and
look for you is sometimes can be dangerous, but the
(05:08):
for you tab this morning had a bunch of Jacksonville
stuff on there for media people, and we don't do
a whole lot of playing other people's sound bites and
interviews and commentary from other cities. But we're going to
today because Jacksonville is flipping out. And the number one
thing you will hear during the course of the conversation
(05:29):
when we play these time bites over the show will
be one, how did this happen? You had control of
this thing. You're gonna be right in the midst of
an AFC playoff picture because you're gonna beat the Texans.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
You were gonna kick the Texans out of the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
So there's no hope, no wishes, no dreams, no aspirations
of them making a wild card. Instead, you give a
victory to a team in your own division, you give
up a three touchdown lead, and you are doing it against,
of all people, Davis Mills. That's the over running sentiment
(06:04):
you will hear today from the people we play from
the audio in Jacksonville is you did this against Davis
freaking Mills. So we'll play some of that. Needless to say,
Jacksonville is wigging out. If we were in Jacksonville doing
Jaguars Radio, we'd be flipping out.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
I mean, I know it's been tough being a Texans fan.
I get that.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
It's been harder probably to be a Jaguars fan because
you had the number one overall pick. You have spent
money in free agency. You've got a good running back
in Trevis Aintenn. You've got a defensive line that features
Armstead and heinz Allen. I mean, you've tried, You've tried
to be good. You got a kicker that kick sixty
(06:54):
nine yard field goals with his eyes closed, and yet
you choked away the game.
Speaker 3 (07:03):
Again, credit to the Texans. They deserve it.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
Even you know what, if teams give you an open opportunity,
open a window for you, you got to go through it.
And the Texans did. But damn, the Jacksonville suck and
Trevor Lawrence sucks. And I hate to use the word suck.
And if Trevor Lawrence walked in here right now and
he say, did you say I sucked? I would say yes.
He would then beat me to a pulp. And that's fine.
(07:29):
But at least I was consistent. When someone comes to
me and says, Matt, you said it's about me, you
would say, yes, I did. Trevor Lawrence absolutely is pathetic.
May be a small human being, but he is not
a good NFL quarterback. And if I was in Jacksonville today,
I'd be like.
Speaker 3 (07:44):
I'm done.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
I'm finished, because not only did you have a chance
to beat a division upon in the division opponent Bury
the Texans, you've now given them life. Doesn't mean the
Texans are a favor to make the playoffs, but it
hurts your chances significantly. So that's jack That's a Jaguars issue.
Other things to get to on the radio show today.
(08:07):
The Rockets came back from double digits. They were down
I think fourteen to Milwaukee Bucks. Kevin Durant awesome, Alprin
Shingoon fantastic and read Shepherd another he reached. Shepherd had
a great road trip, played really well in San Antonio,
played well in Memphis, and was lights out yesterday for
the Rockets in Milwaukee against the Bucks. We will get
(08:29):
to that on the conversation piece today. Also college football
this weekend, Texas Tech, you did your school proud, sold out,
the stadium, got crazy, and you beat up on a
BYU team that showed basically a little life in that
game against the Red Raiders. A and M beats Missouri,
IU holds on for dear life against Penn State. We've
(08:49):
got betting scandals in baseball with two pitchers that basically
were throwing pitches literally. We'll get to that, but we
have to get to how Jacksonville handled everything yesterday. We
want you to join us today on an open line
Monday again. I'm with you till two o'clock. Cole Thomas
is gonna come in and help the cause. Between eleven
o'clock until one, we'll hear from Nmiko Ryan's at eleven fifteen.
(09:11):
We'll have to tell the truth at twelve thirty, and
believe it or not, today will be half Paul Taglebou
and half Lenny Wilkins, the former commissioner passing away yesterday,
as did.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
The former longtime NBA coach.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
Ten thirteen of The Matt Thomas Show with Ross. It's
eighteen The Matt Thomas Show with Ross. Ross is off
this week. Our buddy Cole Thomas. It's gonna hang out
way for a couple of hours at eleven o'clock until one.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
We have to tell the truth at twelve thirty.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
Today we're gonna push you back to twelve thirty because
Dimiico is gonna talk at eleven fifteen. Don't want to
interrupt that. Also, we'll have believe it or not today
at one fifty. But with Ross gone, it's me and
you a little bit more than normal, So if you
want to come on in and say hello and discuss.
Was a startling event yesterday Energy Stadium seven to one
to three two one two five seven. Now you know,
(10:02):
Iron Eagle does the game on CBS. We had he
had him on the show on Farty. He was awesome.
Mark VanderMeer does Texans Radio, and obviously Jacksonville has their
radio announcer as well. I was able to find on
the Twitter streets an alternate play by play feed of
a couple of plays in the game. First and foremost,
I don't know who this person is, but he was
(10:23):
very happy that Derek Stingley came up on an interception.
Here was his call on the alternate broadcast feed us
in them throw.
Speaker 4 (10:34):
Stang lay ahead, that stanglaya.
Speaker 5 (10:42):
Oh my god, oh my god, dangle.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
That was not Gus Johnson. By the way, We'll be
playing some gusts before the show is over with, for sure.
But that whoever, that person, I don't even know who
that person is. I mean, that was pretty intense and
he has did he have the cowbell with him when
he was in the interception.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
I guess the cowbell was his partner.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
M all right, let's go to the other call of
this alternate broadcast feed. Here's Davis Mills rushing for the
touchdown to give the Texans a lead.
Speaker 6 (11:22):
Mills shotgun takes a snap, looking looking he's gonna run
the ball.
Speaker 7 (11:27):
He's running the ball.
Speaker 5 (11:28):
Mill does dotch up, dot dout, dot run, dot down,
Dutch down, Dutch down, dot down, run down.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
Touch down. I need a cigarette after that, don't you?
Speaker 8 (11:58):
Oh my good?
Speaker 9 (12:00):
Oh he was jumping to the helmich. Y'all can see
the video, oh man.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
Yeah, I have no idea what that is. And he
obviously loves his Texans. We all want to love our
teams like that. Dude loves his Texans. I don't know
if he's going to use this for an audition tape,
but trying to get some games. I don't know what's
going to work out particularly well for him. But again,
the four utab was working in overtime for me yesterday
(12:27):
as I was flying back from Milwaukee, so I just
happened to see that and thought, you know what, put
it up there and let y'all now we have the
Gus Johnson call of the Indiana game against Penn State.
Let me play that real quick. So Jonathan, find that
I sent it to you too, and let me know
when that's ready. So Indiana Penn State are playing Saturday,
(12:50):
and Indiana was a huge favorite. Penn State was playing
in holl Remember they got an intern coach, they let
James Franklin go, and they were leading quite a bit
of the game, and Indiana went on this line long
drive a couple of minutes left to go in the game.
All right, and here is Gus Johnson. This is national
number one college football announcer on Fox Gus Johnson calling
(13:11):
the touchdown. It wasn't great play, it was a great catch.
I don't know if you can figure it out, but
obviously Gus thought it was. Here was the call that
was the winning touchdown for Indiana on Saturday.
Speaker 10 (13:22):
Mendoza, don't shut up, besil.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
Get drove it up.
Speaker 3 (13:39):
Did you hear him go full falsetto on there?
Speaker 9 (13:42):
He sounded like Mickey Mouse.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
Jonathan, I'm fifty three years old. I can't go to
falsett off. I tried, Gus lost it.
Speaker 9 (13:53):
That wasn't the same catch though. That was nuts.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
That wasn't insane catch. Remember only it takes one foot
to stay in bounds in college. It was one of
the catches of the year for sure, But damn Gus.
He went Craig cray on that. Now, some people thought
it was over the top. Some people thought it was manufactured.
You know, Gus has been doing this for thirty years
(14:16):
this way, so it's not out of the ordinary. But man,
play it again. Listen to his falsetto. Gus is older
than I am. How did he get up that high
into his octavion?
Speaker 10 (14:26):
Mendoza then shut ups up?
Speaker 2 (14:43):
Who Now, if I didn't have my cold, I could
try it, but I would probably crack my voice on
the show and it wouldn't sound particularly great. Man. Gus
Johnson one in a million, A really good dude. I've
had a chance talked to him several times over the years.
Really nice guy.
Speaker 11 (14:59):
But that was.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
Way way over the top.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
I mean, dude, he went into a different octave.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
Let's talk to Adam and Tomball at ten twenty four
of the Matt Thomas Joel Ross, Adam Good morning to you.
Speaker 8 (15:13):
Good morning, Matt. It is a great morning to be.
Speaker 12 (15:17):
A Texans fan.
Speaker 11 (15:18):
That's all I gotta say. With Money Meals with Balls
of Steel, that's Money Meals.
Speaker 8 (15:24):
That's his new name, that's.
Speaker 12 (15:26):
What we're gonna name him.
Speaker 11 (15:28):
And that's the name I got for him at least.
But you know what, I just hope, I just hope
that this sparks something under c J. Strial that we've
never seen before. Plus I didn't see him on the sideline.
He should have been the number one person over there
giving meals dabs or given him a high five, or
I didn't see him. But that's all right, I'll save
(15:49):
that for another day. But all I gotta say is,
I just hope this sparks, you know, some fire under
us and does what it needs to do. And I
mean the defense did it job too. I mean, you've
got to give credit to the defense as well. They
they they battled, they you know, were and we've had
this up and down bipolar season. It's been it's just
(16:10):
been crazy. But you know, I'm just I'm just proud
of the team as a whole.
Speaker 12 (16:15):
We we fought, we we you know, we.
Speaker 11 (16:17):
Fought to the end and that's what that's what really matters.
Speaker 13 (16:20):
And I mean to see that to say that we, you.
Speaker 12 (16:23):
Know, don't have that playoff pedigree.
Speaker 11 (16:25):
I think we do, and to waste a super Bowl
caliber defense.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
I don't want to do that.
Speaker 11 (16:31):
I don't. It's going to be sad.
Speaker 8 (16:33):
If we do that.
Speaker 11 (16:34):
And if this, just if this, if a backup needs
to go in and so show c J strout just
you know, just what it takes and some heart and
you know, maybe he'll start playing better. I hope.
Speaker 14 (16:45):
So.
Speaker 11 (16:45):
But that's my you know, that's my take.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
And you know, y'all doing a great job.
Speaker 11 (16:49):
You and Jonathan and y'all have a great day.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
Prank you very much. Well, look, it's not that CJ
wasn't trying as best. CJ got hurt. CJ was rushing
for a first down when he got his head hit
the ground. I mean, CJ was having a good season,
not an incredible season. And I'm not going to take
the small sample size of Davis Mills, but who, by
the way, throw an interception on is on the very first.
Speaker 3 (17:12):
Drive of the series of the game.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
I mean, Davis Mills was excellent, But this team is
going to make a playoff run. If they're going to
get there because of c. J. Stroud, not because of
Davis Mills. To the caller's point, the defense has been phenomenal.
Five sacks yesterday, constant hurries. I mean, the completion percentage
yesterday for Trevor Lawrence was terrible. The interception that turned
(17:39):
into be a touchdown at the very end was all.
I mean, the Stingley iron t the fumble recovery of
the sack, I mean, you're right, there is there are
a lot of people in this world thinking that maybe
the Texans defense is super Bowl worthy and that you're
gonna hate to see all this success go for nothing
if they can't make the playoffs. It is going to
take you chore to make the playoffs. I said this
(18:01):
last week before they got the victory over Jacksonville. I
think they have to go seven and two. Well, you
got one down, you gotta go six and two. I
really think you do. Because I think the NFC the
AFC is a log jam. I do believe that Baltimore
is on the com and the Pittsburgh is on the
way down. I think that division is only gonna carry
one playoff team. I think that there's a really strong
(18:25):
chance you could get three teams on the playoffs out
of the AFC West. So you need to start rooting
for teams that are playing those AFC West teams. And
you've got to hope that Jacksonville continues his implosion. What
is Jacksonville gonna do? Is Jacksonville gonna just roll up
in a fetal position and be done? Or are they
gonna say, man, we are highly embarrassed the way that
we played.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
They barely beat Las Vegas. The only reason why they lost.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
They beat Las Vegas two weeks ago was because the
Raiders couldn't score on a two point convention conversion at
the end of overtime. And you gaggle up a three
touchdown lead in this game. So I don't I'm not
buying on the Jags. I think they're pretenders. So there
is a window that's open, but it's gonna take a
(19:12):
lot of other teams. You need the Colts to start regressing.
I think the AFC South is no longer in play
because look, you are still looking at being uh what
four and a half games out. You'd have to ba
You'd have to, no doubt sweep the Colts and hope
other things to happen for the Colts to go down.
The Colts could have very well lost that game to
Atlanta yesterday in Berlin, but Jonathan Taylor is like, yeah,
(19:35):
I'm gonna take over the game, and he did so.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
So the window is open.
Speaker 2 (19:40):
The window would have been completely shut and closed if
it lost the game yesterday. So credit to the guys
wearing the blue and white yesterday to keep the season alive.
Seven one three, two one two five seven niney if
you want to chime into the conversation. Seven to one
to three, two one two five, seven ninety is a
Matt Thomas Show with Ross. We've got Tamiko, Ryan's eleven
five Dean to tell the truth. At twelve thirty, my
(20:01):
buddy Cold Tooms it's gonna come hang out with me
for a couple hours as well, and we're gonna play
some more audio from pissed off people in Jacksonville.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
That's up next ten to twenty nine on seven ninety.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
All right, it's the Matt Thomas Show with Ross and
Sports Talk seven ninety. Ross is off this week. I'm
bat a little bit of a cold again. I still
look amazing, but uh, I'm gonna fight through this. Because
you know what, that's what we do as warriors. Here
in the show, we fight. We could go through the pain,
and there's a lot of pain in Jacksonville today. Two
(20:33):
audio samples for you. First, First, by way, if you
want to join us, come on in and be a
part of the program at seven one three two one
two five seven ninety seven one three two one two
five seven ninety. The more you talk, the more I
don't have to talk to the more I'll leave you
a little more longer leash. That's how we do it
on these things here seven one three two one two
five seven ninety. So, uh, there is a host in Jacksonville.
(20:58):
I think they call him Hacker. I don't know for sure,
but again it showed up on my four you tab.
His name is Ryan Green of ten ten Xcel Radio.
His Twitter handle is hacker or not handle, but that's
what he says on his line there, and he hosts
the postgame show on the Jaguars station. And here was
(21:19):
Hacker yesterday talking to his audience on his in on
his x account before he went on the air.
Speaker 15 (21:26):
It would be very easy for me to come on
right now and just completely flip out about what transpired
in Houston text, it would be very easy. Here's what
I'm going to tell you, and I'm gonna be calm,
and I'm gonna say it in a manatone or in
a tone of voice where I don't have to completely
freak at what happened. The Jaguars were up three touchdowns
(21:53):
against Davis Mills in the fourth quarter of a division
game that would have buried their division rival and would
have put the Jaguars in a situation where analytics tell
you they would make the playoffs at a seventy percent
clip at six and three, and they lost to Davis
(22:13):
Mills by being outscored twenty six to nothing in the
fourth quarter, getting physically whipped on the offensive line and
the defensive line. I've lived in Jacksonville, Florida, the entire
existence of the Jaguars. I've been lucky enough to be
on sports radio stations in this market dating back to
August of two thousand and two, and I was here
(22:35):
on opening day of ten ten Excel in April of
two thousand and seven. This is not hyperbole, This is
not overstating this. If you can tell me a more
disheartening regular season loss than what we just saw this afternoon.
I'm all ears leon because I don't think one exists.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
Whoof that means worn't at any today.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
I thought about calling him to see if he wants
to come on the show, but I don't need to
pour salt in that man in the wounds, right, Yeah,
he sings, though he seems a little fluster, a little unhinged.
He's like tweeted like seven times. He tweeted it from
his garage. He tweeted it from his car. You don't
know what to do. Remember, that's a one trick town,
you know what I mean. I mean, that's all they
(23:21):
have of the Jaguars.
Speaker 9 (23:22):
That's true, that's true. You're right.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
Yeah, So think about that, Jonathan. If you if the
one team in your town who is a plus five
hundred record, who is competing for an AFC wildcard spot,
who has a chance to make the postseason, when you
got nothing else to do except talking about Jacksonville Dolphins
basketball right in Florida football, which has been a disaster.
They fired their coach. Yeah, what else are you gonna
(23:45):
talk about? I mean, good god? All right, So that's
example number one. Now with it being a one pro
sports town, the TV guys do the same thing. This
is Dan hickin on Action Sports Jaguars. This is about
a minute forty five, and I kept trying. He went
five minutes on this. I didn't want to play the
(24:06):
whole five minutes for you, but I figured the first
one forty five would pretty much back up what I
told you before. They're embarrassed they lost. They're super embarrassed
they lost to Davis Mills. Here he is again, Dan.
Speaker 16 (24:19):
Hickin twenty nine to ten in the fourth quarter with
the Jags leading against the Houston Texans twenty nine to ten,
and your six and three with fifteen minutes to go,
and the Texans are three and six, and you have
done what you needed to do what you're supposed to
do against a backup quarterback. Twenty nine to ten with
(24:41):
fourteen minutes to go, twenty nine to ten, with thirteen
minutes to go, twenty nine to ten, twelve sixteen to go.
Texans get a touchdown in a two point hang on
a second Jaguars go three and out. Texans come back
and score again. Jags get another three and out, Texans
driving about ninety seven yards or the game winner. Jags
get the ball back. Just get it to the fifty.
(25:03):
Give Cam Little a shot. Can't even do that. What
a freaking disgrace, What a disgrace, What an inept performance
by a National Football League team, Allegedly they're allegedly a
National Football League team. They blew a three touchdown lead
in the fourth quarter of an NFL game.
Speaker 7 (25:26):
I don't have it in front of me.
Speaker 16 (25:27):
I can't imagine that ever happening before with our Jacksonville Jaguars.
My mind is blank right now because I was so
sure that the Jags were going to win this game
and get to six and three and show the world that, yes,
we are a playoff team. Potentially that team that we
just watched against a backup quarterback who threw for two
(25:49):
ninety two. He threw for two ninety two, the backup quarterback.
They're missing two offensive linemen. We can't get to the quarterback.
Are starting offensive line played daneil Hunter at four sacks
four sacks. Not a very good team. We have Travis
(26:10):
etn we have Parker Washington.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
No, it's enough, Johnathand you're the guy that was warning
the TV station, screaming the back ring.
Speaker 9 (26:19):
Who That's why I laughed and the production over there
upset as well.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
Man, when you got production guy getting mad at you
and interrupting your beat.
Speaker 17 (26:28):
Lord there, man, then they're wearing it today in j Hill,
they are wearing it.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
Do you see what your football team did, Houston? They
destroyed the soul of a northern Florida city. Now they
solve a better record than you do. But man, they
could have kicked the Texans of the curb and said
syonara later and they just were beaten up a Texans earlier.
(27:04):
The interception, they drop ball on the coumppunt return, the
kick return for this, I mean everything was like this
was setting up to be a funeral procession for the
Texans on Sunday, and you let money Mills come back.
Speaker 3 (27:20):
No pass rush, says Jacksonville TV guy.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
Daneille Hunter is tasting the breath of Trevor Lawrence with
four sacks. So when I tell you it's tough being
a Houston sports fan, it is. But some people have
it just as bad. And guess who has it bad today? Jacksonville.
(27:46):
Now I've never been to Jacksonville before in my life.
If any of you want to tell me what it's like,
I'd be more than one to hear it. Now, I
can stereotype it. It's northern Florida. It's got a nice
butch community, but it's also got a fair number of
what we would like to call quote unquote white trash people.
(28:06):
Nothing's the thing wrong with white trash, but it's a
mixed bag over there up in North Florida. I mean,
they play one game overseas intentionally every year because they
don't want to fill up. They can't fill the stadium
up eight times a year for sure. Sean Conn is
always considered, you know, playing international games as a opportunity
(28:28):
to make some more money because it can't draw flies
in Jacksonville. But hell, if I was Jacksonville, I wouldn't
be spend that money either. You have Trevor Freakin Lawrence
who cannot finish a game off. They were looking for
any sort of offense in the fourth quarter and couldn't
get nothing. They settled for field goals, and yes, their
field goal kicker kicks a boatload of long field goals.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
Cam Little, but that was disgraceful.
Speaker 2 (28:52):
Credit to the Texans, Credit to the Texans defense, Credit
for Davis Mills for not giving up, But damn Jacksonville
sucks they I mean, do you hear that in their voice?
The guy, the TV guy went to the WEI card
in our card. You're not supposed to do that in journalism.
(29:14):
You know we's and ours. You don't play for the team. Now,
if you're employed by the team, that's one thing you
can do it. Then I don't do it very often
because even though I'm employed by the Rockets, I don't
do that. But I occasionally do because I live and
die with what they do on the court. We're gonna
get to the bucks when in a minute here, But
that's TV dude, that's TV guy. That's the guy that
(29:38):
you'd be doing the five, six and ten.
Speaker 3 (29:40):
Hey, this happened. This happened. He went to the WE
and R.
Speaker 2 (29:47):
Houston. You broke Jacksonville, the Texas broke the Jaguars. How's
that flight home, by the way, two hours and ten
minutes or whatever it is. And I wouldn't be serving
them squad on the plane. I'd been giving them those
nasty sacks, the snacks that Schminy gives her people. Wouldn't
(30:10):
be No, they don't deserve a full meal. After that,
you were up twenty nine to ten, I mean, little
kicks the field goal. Actually that's not Yeah, twenty nine ten,
Aten scores a touchdown, they go for the two point.
Don't get it. It's twenty nine to ten with a
minute thirty three left to go in the third quarter,
(30:32):
and you can't finish it. For shame.
Speaker 3 (30:36):
Ten forty four the Matt Thomashaul Ross.
Speaker 2 (30:39):
You guys want to chime in, how does it feel, Houston,
Texas that you broke another city? Ten fifty one on
the Sports Talk seven ninety Oh my gosh, I gotta
(31:04):
be honest with y'all for a minute, and everybody feels
it's about their own individual city, about all our teams
get screwed. We've had terrible losses. It's been the worst.
Can I just celebrate this a little bit more with Jacksonville?
I mean, by the way, my Twitter follower Brian sends
me the email or a tweet about Jacksonville. I've remember been.
(31:26):
It's one of the few cities I've been to and
not been to major cities in North America. It says
Jacksonville is fine, nothing special, great golf courses, however, but
fans who have no clue that their team is chronically
bad most years I don't know. Every time I watch them,
there's always a bunch of empty seats there. I'm gonna
(31:47):
take this because guess what, We're gonna have some more
heartache on our town. It's just a matter. You get
three teams here, you get three major You've got a
major college team in this town, so you're gonna have heartbreak.
I'm gonna live with it. I'm gonna enjoy this because
Lord knows, I still will never get over the Buffalo
Bill's wild card loss. I won't get over the divisional loss.
(32:09):
I won't get over stagger Lee. I won't. I mean,
there's so much stuff I got so much pent up
disappointment in my life for my sports teams. Damian Lillard
beating the Rockets in a playoff series on a buzzer
beat at a deep three pointer. Jesse E Rosco striking
on Kevin Bass in the eighty six National Championship Series.
(32:31):
You know what, I think, I need a therapist. It
wouldn't be about my wife or my kids, or my
finances or my job. It'd be about the sports turm
all of my life. My Houston Cougar's losing two National
championship games in my lifetime in the last ten seconds
of both games. Yeah, I need therapy. I don't know
(32:57):
why this took me so long to figure this out. Okay,
think about it, Jonathan. I flew. I flew to San
Antonio to watch it in person.
Speaker 9 (33:08):
I got out.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
Yeah, I got sick after that. And then and then
when I was a kid, I cried like a baby,
cried like a baby when Cougar's lost in five Samma Jama. Now,
my astros have won two World Series. I'm very happy
about that, but one of them tarnished unfortunately. So this
I got that going for me. I do have my
(33:30):
two Rocket Championships. Very happy about that. But hell, that
was thirty years ago, and I was sixty pounds ago
for me. Yeah, very closer to seventy. Oh man, I
was fat.
Speaker 9 (33:44):
You little, you're a little twig. Now, Yeah, you got something.
Speaker 2 (33:47):
I know. I gotta get some meat on these bones,
I know. I think I gained five pounds on the trip.
By the way, that's good, that's good. I'll do way
I need to all right, seven one three two one
two five seven ninety Yeah, I needed supports, therapist, because
you know what I'm doing right now, Ladies and gentlemen,
I am taking the light in Jacksonville's misery. Yeah, I'm
(34:09):
doing it because Lord knows, if you've been a Texans fan,
you've got the other end of that many a time.
So you know what, Texans fan, no need to feel
apologetic about what your team did because they played really well.
Miles Schultz, uh, Nico Collins, this's the other run game
(34:35):
did yesterday. Okay, twenty you know what Mark sixty three,
Chubb forty seven. I mean it's not spectacular. I mean
Chubb only carried it five times. Mark's got in the
end zone after being hurt earlier in the game. So
I mean that wasn't terrible. But Davis Mills threw for
(34:56):
two ninety two, and after that one interception he threw
in the very first drive, you're thinking, oh, hell, this
is gonna suck.
Speaker 8 (35:02):
You did Okay?
Speaker 2 (35:05):
He was calm, he didn't panic, and he outperformed the
number one overall pick in the draft a few years ago.
So celebrate this, Houston, because unfortunately it's gonna maybe come
back and haunt us down the road. And again, the
Texans have got a lot of work to do if
they're gonna make this playoff. Chase. I think it's gonna
(35:26):
have to take ten wins.
Speaker 3 (35:27):
I really do. I think there are too many teams.
Speaker 2 (35:30):
You've got Chargers, You've got Denver, You've got the Chiefs.
Now one of those three teams has to win the division.
So but you got those two teams fighting for playoff spots.
You got Pittsburgh, who looked terrible last Sun against the Chargers.
They're still in the think of things. They're in the
first place in the AMC North. But you got Baltimore
playing better than out of Lamar Jackson is there in
the East. You got Buffalo, and you've got New England,
(35:54):
and then you've got the Colts well, you know right
now dominating the AMC South. Question is do the Jaguars
fold or do they you know, rally from what they
just did yesterday and make a playoff run. Texan's got
to get to ten wins. It's gonna take a seven
and two ending. They're right now one seventh little way
(36:14):
to get in there. You gonna go six and two
the rest of the way, all right. Cole tops is
gonna come by and help the cause for a couple
of hours and we'll get his thoughts on what he
saw yesterday seven one three two one two five seven ninety.
If you were impressed with the Rockets performance against the
Bucks yesterday, you should be. Kevin Durant was magical, apron
chingoun had one of the best full court ninety four
(36:36):
foot dribble drives, spins, turns, three sixty paroet movies you'll
have seen in a long period of time. That was
cool watching that. As the Rockets go to Milwaukee and
beat the Bucks. It was their first win against a
team above five hundred, which was kind of cool. We'll
get to all that, and we will get to Tamiko
Ryan speaking the media in about a little less than
twenty minutes from now seven to one to three two
(36:57):
one two five seven ninety seven to one three two
one two five seven US is the Mat Thomas Show
with Ross eleven oh one of Sports Talk seven ninety.
It is a Matt Thomas Show with Ross Ross of
the week off Cal Thompson. We call him, we call him.
(37:21):
We don't call you mister Texan, because that's when that's
what I am. I'm mister Texas.
Speaker 4 (37:25):
Please don't ever call me that.
Speaker 2 (37:26):
We're gonna call you the effortless tireless twenty four hour worker. Man,
you are all over the place. You you are covering
the SEC, you do the Texan stuff. You're you're producing
our shows. You're filling in for us. God bless you.
How the hell are you?
Speaker 4 (37:41):
I never sleep?
Speaker 8 (37:42):
I'm good.
Speaker 11 (37:43):
You know.
Speaker 18 (37:43):
It's uh getting ready for week twelve with the SEC.
Speaker 4 (37:46):
Fun week, Texas. What do you gonna do?
Speaker 18 (37:49):
This is the opportunity for you to kind of man
on up and say, look, we've arrived, We're right back
in this hunt for a college football playoff bit or
you can get completely embarrassed by Georgia Texans win last
night yesterday. Now I'm gonna be completely awested. It feels
more so to me like this showed that Jacksonville wasn't
a playoff team than the Texans were right back in
(38:09):
the hunt.
Speaker 3 (38:10):
You know, it's funny because I brought that up at
the ten o'clock hour.
Speaker 2 (38:12):
I said, you know, sometimes people like to go to
the well, was it more the Texans won the game
or Jacksonville lost it? And I don't mean to be
that simplistic guy, but we played some audio from the
Jacksonville side of things last hour, and there's an overwarning
thought is, how the hell do you allow your team
to be up three touchdowns against Davis Mills and you
(38:34):
lose the game.
Speaker 18 (38:36):
I think it's more in that, dude, just like think
about yesterday, just in general around the NFL. So Jacksonville
nineteen point lead, they find a way to give it
up to Davis Mills. They let him bend them over
and just say, who's your daddy?
Speaker 8 (38:49):
That was it?
Speaker 18 (38:50):
Yep, Miami, they lose emphatically. The week before two a
time of I low was supposed to get benched. Buffalo
beats up on Kansas City, Miami wins the football game.
Chicago down by ten points to the New York Giants,
they find a way to give it on up. Baltimore,
no love, nothing really going for them at the start
(39:12):
of the year, the worst defense in the NFL. They
outscored the Minnesota Vikings with a high profile passing attack,
twenty seven to nineteen. New Orleans one of the worst
teams in the NFL. Carolina one of the hottest teams
in the NFL. Yeah, Carolina loses seventeen to seven. Like
yesterday was just one of those days in the world
of the NFL where Yeah, certainly you could say, oh,
(39:33):
any given Sunday, somebody can win.
Speaker 4 (39:34):
No, dude, it was just a lot of teams sucked.
Speaker 18 (39:37):
A lot of teams that you thought were actually pretty
good showed that they had their faults to them. And
for me, the standpoint is it never was the fact
that the Texans were a good team.
Speaker 4 (39:46):
Like the Texans, Yeah, they have.
Speaker 18 (39:47):
Some pieces, but this war so showed what were the
faults of the Jacksonville Jaguars on Yeah, you can make
whatever movie you want. You still have Trevor Lawrence as
your starting quarterback. You still can't pressure the quarterback into
making fundamentals mistakes. You shoot yourself on the foot consistently.
Your offensive line is a turnstyle of misery. You have
too many drop balls, your defense can't get out of
(40:07):
its own way, and you let Davis frickin' Mills running
twenty six nothing come back against you in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 4 (40:14):
I mean it wasn't even with the final fifteen minutes.
It was with twelve minutes left.
Speaker 18 (40:17):
You get out scored twenty six to nothing and have
three straight three and outs. Dude, that says more about
where you are as a team than where the Texans are.
Speaker 2 (40:25):
Yeah, and what you did is you allowed the Texans
to think they've got a glimmer hope. Now again, they've
got to win some games against a much better competition.
They've not done that this year. What is there?
Speaker 3 (40:33):
What's their most quality win of the entire season?
Speaker 18 (40:36):
San Francisco probably, if not, if not Baltimore, I mean,
but Baltimore. You gotta remember, dude, there was like eight
defensive starters.
Speaker 3 (40:43):
I don't cant bault rush.
Speaker 4 (40:44):
So yeah, San Francisco.
Speaker 2 (40:45):
Yeah, so by the by, by far, it's a nine
ers game, and they were missing some defensive players. But
that's we gotta get past that if you're gonna make
the playoffs. I said this last week he was seven
to two, and that includes probably, well, seven and two
means you gotta you gotta go to beat three out
of four two Colts games, a Buffalo Thursday night game
and a Monday night game.
Speaker 3 (41:05):
There's a Sunday night game in Kansas City against Chiefs.
Speaker 4 (41:07):
Yeah, that doesn't get flex, which I don't think it will.
Speaker 2 (41:10):
No, no, no, no, no, that's that's a difficult chore. But
now at least we're thinking about it. It's compared to
if they don't lost the game yesterday, it would have
been seasons over with, start thinking about the draft, and
probably n Casseiro's worried about whether or he's gonna keep
his job or not.
Speaker 18 (41:24):
Here here's my big question, dude, are you at all
nervous now because of you win this game? Comeback fashion?
Morale isn't an all time high? You get a Tennessee
Titans team coming off of a bye week, Does that
give you any concern going into Nashville the potential you
find a way to drop this one.
Speaker 2 (41:42):
No, No, they're going to be They're gonna beat the
Titans badly. What is going to happen, and whether this
is just what's going on inside their building or the
city or its fan base, is you're going to get
this false sense of bravado that thinking, all right, here
we go, all all these close games we played, so
says to Miko, all these these this nice sort of
(42:05):
run we've had here and things are starting to turn around.
Now if it really does want to turn around, what
you have to do is you gotta beat somebody you're
not supposed to beat. And that's what I want to see.
I want to see them beat Buffalo in a short
week I want them to it the very minimum.
Speaker 3 (42:19):
Split the Colts games.
Speaker 2 (42:22):
At the very minimum, you cannot, under any circumstance lose
to you know, the Cardinals game.
Speaker 3 (42:28):
I mean there are You've got just little, little little
room for air.
Speaker 18 (42:32):
But like that to me is where like I'm getting nervous,
Like I'm looking at the Texans. I'm saying, okay, there
remind me of any team in the SEC that knows
to play in a high profile game like Texas A
and M for years when they were Texas eight and four.
You put the number next to Alabama, guess what they're
gonna show on up for that game. They're gonna be
ready and prepare to go toe to toe with a
top twenty five team in the country. And then here
comes old Mississippi State. In Mississippi State, they don't have
(42:54):
a good roster and their defense is given up five
hundred yards per game, and you crap the bed. And
I'm looking at that match up against Arizona. I'm like,
watch this team find a way to go beat on
a short week Buffalo the MVP and Josh Allen, watch
them go into Lucas Oil Stadium shut down Jonathan Taylor,
who's having an MVP season. They turned Danny Dines back
into being Danny Nichols who can't get the ball off
(43:16):
when he was in New York. And then they get
ass kicked by Arizona. But Jacoby Bris said, as a
backup quarterback, like, that's where my brain's at right now,
because if there's no reason they should have lost to Denver,
I mean, you had such a good a defensive game
plan and you showed how big of an actual liability
bo Nix's as a quarterback, and you still couldn't get
(43:38):
out of your own way. And that's why I think
is gonna happen, is that they're gonna win over Buffalo,
They're gonna win over Kansas City, and then here comes
Las Vegas but nothing to play for. Okay, yep, here
we go watch them find a way to lose by
ten to Gino Smith.
Speaker 2 (43:53):
See, I don't see it that way. I understand why
you see it the way. I see them beating up
on the and these second tiers and struggling against the excellence.
Speaker 18 (44:02):
So you see them beating Arizona on Las Vegas, Vegas, tennessee, right,
So that's seven wins, but that puts you at seven
and ten.
Speaker 4 (44:10):
And that's the problem is that.
Speaker 3 (44:11):
You can't go with the ten. You gotta get the ten.
Speaker 2 (44:13):
That's why this team, to me doesn't have the offensive hutzpah.
There's a term for you to beat an up rational
on teams, at least at this point. It's why it'll
be hard to win two against the Colts. It'll be
hard to beat Buffalo in a short week. Although I mean,
and again, I saw nothing of Buffalo Miami yesterday because
I was getting ready for the Rockets. But how the
hell is Buffalo lose to Miami who was thinking about
(44:35):
their new coach already.
Speaker 4 (44:36):
Probably it was terrible. Well, well, okay, the turnovers.
Speaker 18 (44:39):
I mean, like that was the bottom line is that
they had four turnovers in the game, and three were
inside the red zone. I mean, you have an easy
touchdown pass to Josh Allen and he throws it into
double coverage like it was. It's one of those games
to where you look back and you say to yourself,
we're always doing one, like everyone is due to have
a bad game. This was Josh Allen's single war game
(45:00):
that we had seen all year.
Speaker 4 (45:01):
Because it wasn't like Tua was light in the world.
On fire.
Speaker 18 (45:04):
He had two terrible interceptions. The problem was that Buffalo
had four turnovers. That's how you lose.
Speaker 2 (45:10):
Well, maybe they're a different team away from Buffalo because
they're certainly Jackal and Hyde on that bad Boy for
I mean, they beat Kansas City and do look good
on at home games and then all of a sudden
they go on the road and you know that's their issues.
That that that AFC East, by the way, is uber competitive.
Speaker 18 (45:25):
Can we talk about New England? How will they've they've
looked so far this season as well? We're not going
to it's stupid, but like we lived in a world
where we finally got rid of the Empire and now
it's like, oh here comes Drake may as Anakin Skywalker
two point zero, go ahead and just destroy us all
because Mike Rabel's going to turn that team and do content.
I don't think it's this year, but they're back in
the They're back in the fold, dude, they are.
Speaker 2 (45:46):
They're gonna be a threat, yep, adding one more contender.
And that's why Texans have got to figure out their
situation offensively, because defensively they were ready to win a championship.
A lot of work to do on the offensive side.
It is ten minutes past eleven o'clock. Tomko's going to
speak in a few minut so let's get that out
of the way now. If you'd like to join us,
you may do so at seven one three two one
two five seven ninety seven one three two one two
(46:08):
five seven ninety. My man Cole TOMPs is gonna hang
out for a couple of hours. We want you to
join us as well. Seven one three two one two
five seven ninety eleven fifty on Sports Talk seven ninety
Matt and Cole with you here for a while. We
got to tell the truth. Come up at eleven thirty
at twelve thirty today. No, I'm gonna do it at
eleven thirty, but since we're gonna hear from Dimiko, come
(46:30):
up at a few minutes. Okay, so let me let
me go. You're gonna go glass half full or glass
half empty.
Speaker 4 (46:36):
I'm always a pessimistic let's go glass half all.
Speaker 3 (46:38):
Right, so glass half empty?
Speaker 2 (46:39):
Does? Was this a one off for the textans yesterday
or was this something you build off because you had
a backup quarterback doing this amazing thing and amazing comeback
that has happened very often in the NFL.
Speaker 18 (46:49):
Okay, you know what the first thing I thought of
after they found a way to get into the end zone.
By the way, Davis Mills crowd to you, dude, shoot
or shoot. You had a terrible twenty nine minutes of
action and then like the last twelve, you decide to
go full pro bo mold.
Speaker 4 (47:02):
But you know what I thought of. Remember the game.
Speaker 18 (47:04):
Against the Tannsey Titans in twenty twenty three.
Speaker 2 (47:07):
C J.
Speaker 18 (47:07):
Strouds a concussion protocol Dalton Schultz end zone. They're wearing
the Oilers jerseys. You just shove one up to Amy
Adams Strump because you don't care about her anymore and
how bad of an owner she is. They came back
home the next week and they got embarrassed by the
Cleveland Browns. That is what I'm worried about with this
next game against the Testsa Titans, is that you used
all of your good luck in this matchup to come
(47:29):
back by nineteen. And this is gonna be a game
to where we see cam Ward live up to the
billing of a number one overall pick fresh by week,
you still have some good offensive pieces they slow down
Davis Mills.
Speaker 4 (47:41):
They don't make the running game happen.
Speaker 18 (47:43):
I don't want to believe it's gonna happen, but that's
where my brain went after I watched Davis Mills across
the goal line.
Speaker 2 (47:50):
Uh, you're saying trap, I'm saying Tennessee sucks. Well they do.
I mean they're really really bad. I no, I don't now.
Am I expecting thirty five zero? No? But I if
I'm a Texans fan, I'm thinking they're gonna go up
there and they've been given a last gas. But life,
I mean, think about it. They lose that game yesterday,
(48:11):
the season's over. You know how depressing it would be
to be talking about Texans football from mid November to
the end of the season with no playoff aspirations.
Speaker 18 (48:19):
Now we're not even half We're literally at the halfway
point of the season. Like we would be talking for
eight straight weeks about the draft.
Speaker 4 (48:26):
Who wants to do that in the city.
Speaker 18 (48:28):
Wex Yeah, to be fair, he's already looking at mock
drafts right now and seeing what positioning the Texans are in.
Where do they go for an offensive lineman that Nick
Casserio is gonna trade out that pick to begin with,
so sound like we're gonna have.
Speaker 4 (48:40):
To even worry about that.
Speaker 18 (48:41):
We'll get two first round picks for pick number fourteen,
and then in two years, when Nick Asserio still is
the GM, we're gonna trade it once again.
Speaker 4 (48:48):
We're gonna be picking in the second round forever.
Speaker 2 (48:50):
Yeah. Yeah, I to me, they'll beat Tennessee, they beat
the second tier.
Speaker 18 (48:55):
Let me ask you, do you think it's more so
one of these games that is a thirty five to
ten victory Davis Mills connects with Nico Collins for two
touchdowns and one hundred and thirty yards, or do you
think it's going to be like a twenty one seventeen
kind of sweating things out fourth quarter comeback by Houston.
Speaker 2 (49:10):
I'm gonna go with they don't sweat this in the
fourth quarter. Okay, And you know what, if I'm CJ Stroud,
I rest.
Speaker 4 (49:16):
Oh CJ's not playing this week.
Speaker 18 (49:18):
If what I thought of yesterday watching as the fourth
quarter was able to kind of be in favor of Houston.
Speaker 4 (49:26):
Dude, if you can't beat the Tennessee Titans.
Speaker 18 (49:28):
With Davis Mills, you don't deserve to be even in
the college for I mean, even in the in the
conversation for the playoff.
Speaker 3 (49:33):
Yeah, so it works out.
Speaker 2 (49:34):
Well, you give another week off, short week, get on
the field against Buffalo, be the hero the Buffalo. How
about this, let's make this grandiose statement. The Buffalo game
determines how the season goes with the Texans.
Speaker 18 (49:46):
I don't hate that. Now here's the interesting part. Buffalo
takes on Tampa this week and it's a short week,
so I wonder do they use all their momentum to
get back on track beat a team like Tampa, a
playoff bound roster with a good quarterback, and then they
don't show up against on a short week against Houston
to where maybe Houston once again. This is where you
(50:07):
kind of look at it as not the trap, but
I would say you're caught back into the gusto.
Speaker 4 (50:11):
Look at us, We're six.
Speaker 18 (50:12):
And five, things are turning the corner, and here comes
Indianapolis as they proceed to beat us by twenty Like,
is that what we're gonna see?
Speaker 4 (50:19):
Is my main question.
Speaker 8 (50:21):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (50:21):
It's you know, uh, Buffalo can't afford I mean, Buffalo's
lost to Miami yesterday really hurt them. I think they're
gonna come in all guns of blazing. It'll you know, look,
Tampa Bay may take a lot out of them, maybe
a high scoring game, so they may just not be
at a juice. By the way, I thought the NFL
was not gonna make teams travel that far. It's a
break for the Texans. Frankly, yeah, I know they're trying
(50:42):
to improve the Thursday night games, but all these teams
traveling two time zones or like fifteen six hundred miles
to play a game in the middle of the week.
It's so okay.
Speaker 18 (50:51):
So here's why I think is actually what they said,
We're not gonna make you do that when you have
away game. So the game for Buffalo is at home
this week against Tampa. So if they were in Tampa
and then having to come back to then leave two
days later to go play against Houston, that's where I
think the NFL was like, Eh, we're gonna stop with that.
We gotta give you at least a fair fight. So
(51:11):
maybe that's what it is. I don't know, man, Something
tells me that they will find a way to beat
Buffalo because Buffalo is just not gonna come in prepared,
whether it be because of a bad offensive performance from
Josh Allen again, or the defense can't stop a lick
to save its life. CJ coming off of two weeks
of rest looks the part, but then Houston goes out
(51:33):
and they get embarrassed at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Speaker 4 (51:35):
That's that's kind of where my brain's at right now.
Speaker 2 (51:37):
Uh yeah, I mean I all those scenarios come in
play again. To me, if you're gonna be a real team,
you gotta go beat somebody better than you are. You
gotta gotta that victory back. Let's go to the press
conference now for Jamiko Ranks.
Speaker 19 (51:49):
I think Danny Williams and boxing two thousand dislocated shows
We've got to knockout.
Speaker 8 (51:54):
Yeah, we went into the videos.
Speaker 20 (51:55):
I get a lot of I get a lot of
things from a lot of different people just throughout this the.
Speaker 8 (52:02):
Season goes on. Just get messages.
Speaker 20 (52:04):
But uh, our team chaplain Mercado Headson that sent me
a clip like a couple of weeks ago, And you know,
I just always try to find the appropriate time to
show things. If it's pertinent, if it's relevant to the team,
and I think it would resonate with the team, then
I'll show it. So I felt like there was a good,
a good moment for us and something we needed to see.
Speaker 19 (52:24):
Well, everybody talked about it, so it obviously resonates when.
Speaker 18 (52:29):
You went back and looked at how you guys performed yesterday,
what stood out to you the most?
Speaker 4 (52:34):
I mean we always hear you say how to secute?
Speaker 2 (52:36):
Is that the epitome of what that?
Speaker 9 (52:37):
That looks like?
Speaker 8 (52:38):
Yeah? The Yeah.
Speaker 20 (52:40):
The thing that stood out to me the most is
how we finished the game. I would say, uh, because
like in that in that boxing match, a lot of
bad things happened. The guy was down pretty bad and
it didn't matter right. He had a wheel and desire
to win. And that's what I wanted our guys to see.
That's what I wanted them to do yesterday. It just
(53:01):
showcase that desire to win no matter what happens, no
matter how the game looks in the first half, like
how are we coming out and how we finishing in
the second half. So I'm most proud of how we finish.
Speaker 8 (53:13):
Uh.
Speaker 20 (53:13):
We still have things to clean up, we can execute better,
but when when it counted, when we needed it most,
like now Davis, the receivers they made, I mean outstanding
the plays, the the touchdown pass of Dalton. I mean
there's such a huge play, and then to come back
and make another huge third down pass to Dalton there
towards our sideline.
Speaker 8 (53:33):
I mean, those are.
Speaker 20 (53:34):
Huge plays that Davis made, and you know he doesn't
make those plays without the protection being good. I thought
our offensive line protected well and allowed Davis to make
those plays. So I I'm just really proud of how
we truly finished the game.
Speaker 21 (53:47):
Okay, so the decision to start and see so and
given the success that the offensive line group had late
in the game, Uh, if you are to get some
guys back, how might that change is an approach or
how much you look.
Speaker 20 (54:02):
At ye for the offensive line, we will continue to find,
you know, what works for us and you know, the
best guys that we can put out there, we're gonna
try to you know, And it's it's a culmination of
a lot of things that you guys don't see from practice,
from how we're seeing guys work throughout the week, how
they're doing just with the mental being where they're supposed
to be doing the things that we asked them to
(54:23):
do on a consistent basis. Like a lot of things
going to play there. So still a lot of things
that we can clean up a lot of things. Just
with our entire team, we can just be more consistent
on doing the things that we're asked to do.
Speaker 8 (54:36):
And so we're gonna keep moving.
Speaker 20 (54:38):
Guys around to we find the right group that's gonna
do it the right way, do what we're asking them
to do every single time that they're out there.
Speaker 22 (54:45):
What can you say about the performance that Jared and
Trent had when they're ready for their opportunity and we're
able out there.
Speaker 20 (54:51):
And Yeah, I thought the protection was good. I thought
Jared did a good job of battling. He and he
battled and strength and fought like that's all we're asking for,
and he did that no matter who he was up against.
Speaker 8 (55:05):
Thought.
Speaker 20 (55:05):
Trent came out, did a did a great job of
you know, really displacing guys at the line of scrimmage,
did a great job protecting on the right side. Uh
any rusher that was on in one on one, he
won that rep every single time. So Trent did a
really good job and for his first time being out
there with us. So I'm pleased with what he did
(55:26):
and encouraged to see how he can continue to progress.
Speaker 8 (55:29):
Any what is actually beat Mike Tyson. He did, Yes,
he did that.
Speaker 13 (55:35):
On the other side of the football, at safety, do
you feel like you have a lot of flexibility.
Speaker 8 (55:39):
And say, if you knew, get Jalen back this.
Speaker 9 (55:42):
Week kind of the protocol, and you also.
Speaker 8 (55:44):
Have Miles Brian, you got some guys from Jailer Reed. Yeah.
Speaker 20 (55:47):
Unfortunately with our safety position, U MJ went down yesterday
with a quiet injury and he'll be out for the season. Uh,
he'll have surgery here over the next couple of days. So,
you know, unfortunate for MJ. He was doing a really
good job, playing really good for us in that starting role.
He meant a lot to our team. So we're gonna
miss MJ and what he brings to our team. So
(56:09):
opportunity for other guys to step up, whoever.
Speaker 8 (56:12):
That may be. We'll see who's ready to step up.
Speaker 23 (56:15):
Game yesterday with the combo, a little bit of box
at Chubb and Uh and wood he marks how that's progressing.
Part of the question, persary, when you look at kind
of what the ursery did yesterday, it's pretty good.
Speaker 20 (56:28):
Ye had to start with our running backs, I thought Woody,
you know, he he played fast, He made plays, especially
plays on the perimeter, which is where he's seen him
shine the most when he can get the ball in space.
And you know, he did a really nice job of
handling the bulk of the carries for us. And when
Chubb came in and and got his opportunities, man, talk
(56:49):
about it. He had some explosive runs. He ran physical,
you know, he looked like he had a little extra
burst to him. So it was it was good a
one two punch that we were able to us. Those
guys did a really good job and Tay is he
did a great job of battling. We know how the
first game ended, you know, with Jacksonville, so I know,
if anybody you know, he has a lot of pride
(57:11):
in himself to go out and you know, kind of
correct what went wrong the first game. And I thought
he did a great job all game protecting getting out
on the edge. There are a couple of plays we
had on the left side, you know, getting the ball outside.
You know, we're we're springing those plays because of what
Tay is doing. So as a rookie again playing the tough,
toughest position, you know, on the offensive line, he's doing
(57:33):
a great job holding his own as a rookie, and
he's getting better as the season is going on.
Speaker 24 (57:37):
But do you know, if any up on how CJ's
doing and do you expect him.
Speaker 9 (57:41):
To return this week?
Speaker 8 (57:42):
Yuh?
Speaker 20 (57:42):
For CJ, Titus and Jalen, all three guys are still
in the concussion protocol, so we'll see, you know, how
they progress throughout the week.
Speaker 19 (57:51):
Dere see interception at the end, able to have help
people all have momentum going into halftime.
Speaker 9 (57:56):
And the way that he you know, made that interception.
We're surprised about what he did. Are you do you
get surprised.
Speaker 8 (58:02):
By anything he does? As an interception by Stingler was
I mean it was? It was huge for us.
Speaker 20 (58:06):
You talk about the momentum shift, being able to you know,
limit them from being able to get points there at
the half. We know their field goal kicker has a
great leg, outstanding range, so we had to try to
knock them back as best as possible, So trying to
pressure them there and Stingley did a great job of
being sticky in his coverage and undercutting the crossing route,
(58:26):
playing with speed and outstanding in one handed cats and
you just you don't see that play happen a lot,
but Stingley getting great ball skills, great effort, great train,
and that's what that's what allows him to make that play.
Speaker 9 (58:40):
Everyone make the big comeback.
Speaker 21 (58:42):
But then you guys finished the way that you guys
have finished.
Speaker 9 (58:47):
A lot in the previous seasons. How good was it
to just see your team kind of implement that.
Speaker 20 (58:53):
The nag or you trying to instill it been here,
which is finish.
Speaker 8 (58:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 20 (58:58):
As a coach, you you want to teach things, you
want to harp on, you know, a certain play style
and what is it gonna take to win a game?
Speaker 2 (59:09):
Right?
Speaker 20 (59:09):
And when you see your players go out and do
that in a manner that you've been asking them to do, like,
it's it's encouraging, it's it's exciting. As a coach, you see, like, man,
that's why you coach, to be able to get guys
to see and do things that they may not.
Speaker 8 (59:26):
It may not look great from the onset, but it's.
Speaker 20 (59:28):
Just that belief that I have in all these guys
as their coach, like, I know they can do it.
Speaker 8 (59:33):
I know we got great players.
Speaker 20 (59:35):
I know we have a great team, and I'm always
urging and pleading with them just to hey, let's just
do it the right way. Let's execute the right way,
Let's finish the right way, because I know we're capable
of doing it. And that's what it looks like like
when you're when you just do the things you're supposed
to do, you make the plays. I mean, it's just
it's a fun, fun film to watch. Hopefully it's a
(59:55):
confidence booster for everyone when when you do it the
right way, we can win a lot of games.
Speaker 4 (01:00:02):
The operation and help Davis handle things.
Speaker 20 (01:00:06):
For the play not just yeah, Davis did a great
job with his operation, not only in the game, but show.
Speaker 8 (01:00:13):
It showed all throughout the week. So he handled himself
really well.
Speaker 25 (01:00:17):
It's like when you.
Speaker 20 (01:00:19):
Have Anderson coming at you for one way, and Daniel,
I'm happy I never played quarterback because I'll probably be
taking a lot of sacks. You know, those guys man
the way Daniel, the way will plays. You know, we
know the effort, the intensity that he plays with. And Daniel,
I mean he was he was exploding off the ball yesterday,
(01:00:41):
playing violent like not slowing down. And that only works
with the interior guys getting the right push. So I
thought our tackles did a good job when we were
able to push the pocket and they were able to
collapse the edge.
Speaker 8 (01:00:53):
That's how the rush works together.
Speaker 20 (01:00:55):
So deal Will and Daniel, they're definitely a scary force,
you know, on the edge and two of the best
edge rushers in the league.
Speaker 8 (01:01:03):
And and we're we're.
Speaker 20 (01:01:04):
Blessed to have both of those guys as rushers, you
know on our team.
Speaker 22 (01:01:08):
That's a pretty uncharacteristic game from the special teams.
Speaker 20 (01:01:11):
What was kind of the message mid game to those
guys as some of those early hiccups pumped up. Yeah,
for a special teams, we gotta tackle better. It was
not from a lack of not having guys there, not
having guys in position to make the plays. Again, nobody's
gonna go make the play for you. You're free to
the football.
Speaker 8 (01:01:28):
We gotta go.
Speaker 20 (01:01:29):
We gotta tackle like there's no reason for us to
give up a return like that, give up plays on
the kick like, we gotta go tackle. We gotta get
off blocks, and we gotta go tackle the football. And
everybody got a swarm and we gotta finish to the
football much better.
Speaker 9 (01:01:43):
Sheldon talked about at the end of the game.
Speaker 4 (01:01:45):
We asked if he got the ball, but apparently you
went and got to celebrate with him. When you saw
him scoop that ball up.
Speaker 9 (01:01:53):
What did you think?
Speaker 18 (01:01:54):
Who?
Speaker 8 (01:01:54):
You know?
Speaker 20 (01:01:56):
Well, I was, man, I know it was over, like
we finally fit, So I was, you know, he took
off with the ball wheel Again. I can't talk about
that play without talking about the two previous plays, which I.
Speaker 8 (01:02:09):
Think it kind of gets shadowed cast over.
Speaker 20 (01:02:13):
But Will on the play to draw the penalty with
the hands to the face, that was such a huge
play in the game. That's him just rushing with that
relentless intensity and thru the penalty. And then on the
last play of the game, like him still giving everything
that he has, all the effort, everything to finish the game.
Will makes that play and the ball just happens. Sheldon
(01:02:35):
happened to be the beneficial area of being there and
the ball just landed in in his hands there and
he took it all the way through the end zone.
Speaker 8 (01:02:43):
So I was just so elated to.
Speaker 20 (01:02:45):
Dow that we had won the game, and knowing the
effort that it took from everybody, a team effort, coaches, players,
everybody pull a lot into that game to get it done.
Speaker 8 (01:02:55):
And now we're excited about it.
Speaker 20 (01:02:58):
We're happy forward and now it's put it in vand
and it's on to the next one. So it was
a It was a great win for our team, great
win for our organization.
Speaker 18 (01:03:06):
A lot of focus on what happened at that point
where he gets tackled and turn into a touchdown.
Speaker 9 (01:03:11):
But the alignment you put everybody.
Speaker 4 (01:03:12):
In the secondary and how much have you worked on that?
Speaker 26 (01:03:14):
They had no time out, so obviously everyone was playing
the sideline.
Speaker 20 (01:03:17):
We had the situation of football things we worked, we
worked at every week.
Speaker 8 (01:03:21):
Yeah, so we're we're ready for him.
Speaker 1 (01:03:24):
Was hard.
Speaker 22 (01:03:26):
Sorry, Obviously the ends will and you know, they rehab
the whole lot of offensive tackles and quarterbacks. What allows
them to perspect them to have that ben while still
being able to be exposed to around that corner, what
he think allows them.
Speaker 8 (01:03:41):
To consistently be able to get into.
Speaker 22 (01:03:43):
Opera positions but still being with russia field to the quarterbacks.
Speaker 20 (01:03:48):
Yeah, most of that for defensive ends when they're at
calling the moment of truth when you get to the
level of the quarterback, right, can you have enough ankle
flexion to be able to get to the you know,
make the turn a tight turn to get to the quarterback?
A lot of that is just God giving ability. Some
guys are able to do that. Some guys can try
to work it as much as they can improve it,
(01:04:09):
but some guys are much better at it just because
I feel like it's just a god given gift and ability.
You have the ankle flexion that you have, you have
that explosiveness and the agility to be able to turn
tight corners, and both guys do have that.
Speaker 2 (01:04:25):
Coach, at what point did you feel the game starting
to change, start to turn for you all of a sudden.
Speaker 20 (01:04:31):
Yeah, the game started to change for me, I would
say with the Higgins touchdown and when we were able
we were driving down in the red zone.
Speaker 8 (01:04:39):
You know, we've had a.
Speaker 20 (01:04:40):
Lot of red zone woes here from seeing for a
long time.
Speaker 8 (01:04:46):
So yeah, Woody getting in on.
Speaker 20 (01:04:47):
The flip crack play, that was a great play just
to see everybody see, okay.
Speaker 8 (01:04:51):
We can score. We can't get an end zone.
Speaker 20 (01:04:53):
Right, but to come back again and when we needed
it most there, you know, higging the connection from to
Higgins to get that play. I think that was the
one that really sparked everything for our team.
Speaker 19 (01:05:05):
Where you want to score, had Davis Mills scramble like
them lived his fourteen yard scramble back to back penalties.
Speaker 8 (01:05:13):
You know, it looked like, well, here we go again.
Speaker 2 (01:05:15):
You know you're right there.
Speaker 19 (01:05:16):
And even when they ran to play when the marks
had scored, but then you know, two false starts marching
back at that point that you still have that feeling
that you know we could still do this.
Speaker 9 (01:05:25):
I know that we still have you know we still
do it.
Speaker 8 (01:05:27):
Never a doubt in my mind like that. It was
never a diut in my mind.
Speaker 20 (01:05:31):
And you know, when for us to battle back, how
we battle back, it was it was only right for
us for us to finish that game. So you know,
I had all the faith in our guys go out
and and execute because we they just showed it me.
Speaker 8 (01:05:45):
We made the play.
Speaker 20 (01:05:46):
Woody Higgins scored, Dawton scored Nico on a two point conversion.
No one's talking about that cat. That was a sick
catch and for him to get in. So we we
had made positive plays, especially on that. I think we
scored all of our touchdowns on that end. We got
to make sure we're going that way every time offense.
But it was I was I was confident that we
(01:06:08):
would make a play, and I don't think anybody's expecting
Davis to scramble and make it, but man to see
him step up, put the team on his back, tuck
the ball, made a great decision. It wasn't there in
the time and of the play. He was able to
step up and get in the end zone. And hats
off to Davis for being clutched for as one we
(01:06:29):
needed it most alight.
Speaker 2 (01:06:30):
Thank you, Bryan's Davis, Mills and clutch in the same sentence.
There you go, eleven thirty five on Sports Talk seven.
I don't even got to tell the truth coming up
in an hour from now. Cole Thompson hanging out with me.
You guys can hang out with me as well. Seven
one three two one two five seven ninety if you
(01:06:51):
want to chime in on the conversation seven one three
two one two five seven ninety as we celebrate a
startling performance from your Texans in the second half and
an ultimate choke job by the Jacksonville Jaguars Rockets of
the Winding college football on the agenda and two Cleveland
Guardian pitchers throwing balls away literally to collect checks. Eleven
(01:07:16):
thirty five on Sports Talk seven ninety. All Right, Matt
and Cole with you here till one o'clock today. We
got to tell the truth coming up? Have you ever
played to tell the truth? Uh, Cole, No, not with you.
I've done I'm trying to think.
Speaker 18 (01:07:29):
I've done the Thursday show with you before, I've done
a Tuesday show with you before, I've done Friday show
with you before the morning.
Speaker 2 (01:07:35):
I have four takes and I believe three of them.
Which one do I lie about? So you got to
listen for that. I'm a pretty good liar actually, so
it works out well.
Speaker 18 (01:07:44):
Yeah, I remember you you had to take about something
with tech with Nick Saban and I was about rady
to lose my mind coming on in one day that.
Speaker 4 (01:07:50):
He was supposed to come back to coaching.
Speaker 18 (01:07:52):
Yeah, thankfully you were telling the truth that he doesn't
need to come out to coaching.
Speaker 4 (01:07:55):
But I was on the verge of my seat about
ray to lose it on you.
Speaker 2 (01:07:59):
Yeah, they're there are so many great jobs, but Nick
just enjoyed television.
Speaker 4 (01:08:03):
He's so good at it, that's the problem. Like if
he sucked the way Drew brees di.
Speaker 2 (01:08:06):
In want to do two things. I wanted to do
one get rid of the Greecian formula and just go
with a great and he's all white, you know he is. Yeah,
and stop mentioning his wife with the word miss in
front of her name.
Speaker 4 (01:08:18):
But that's what we call her now in Tuscaloosa, Like.
Speaker 3 (01:08:20):
We don't do anything. No, nobody calls her that.
Speaker 18 (01:08:22):
Everyone in Tuscalusa.
Speaker 2 (01:08:26):
That's weird.
Speaker 4 (01:08:27):
How is it weird?
Speaker 2 (01:08:28):
Weird?
Speaker 18 (01:08:29):
It's a respect thing in the southeastern region of the
United States.
Speaker 2 (01:08:32):
The only person that could ever be known let me
tell you, Jonathan, listen to me very carefully on this
a YouTube call. I. I am friends with a family
that the family called the mother miss miss Ellie. That's
the only one I could ever think of. And the
(01:08:52):
other friends of mine, they live in the Dallas area.
It was kind of strange. They were all living together
in this one big ranch house. Is really crazy, and
they had a bunch of ruthless brothers. When was a
decent guy. One was kind of a snake. But yeah,
they called her mom. They called her mom miss Ellie.
So that's it. No Miss Terry. That's ridiculous.
Speaker 18 (01:09:12):
See, I still to this day with my friend's moms
still call them miss Yeah.
Speaker 9 (01:09:17):
See, I'm gonna call them this one that's how we do.
Speaker 18 (01:09:19):
That was always raised, is that ever, whoever you walk
into the house, you do two things. You never call
them by their first name, and you always say yes
ma'am and yes sir afterwards.
Speaker 2 (01:09:29):
It's like all of Carl's little friends my daughter, Yeah,
they call me mister Matt. I don't like that.
Speaker 3 (01:09:32):
It just Matt Matt's fine.
Speaker 18 (01:09:34):
See, I'm gonna be that way as a dad. I'm
gonna watch you call me by my first name. It
doesn't bother me.
Speaker 2 (01:09:38):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:09:39):
By the way, mister Matt sounds mister Matt sounds creepy.
Speaker 9 (01:09:42):
Yeah, cartoon character.
Speaker 18 (01:09:45):
No, that sounds like somebody wouldn't trust my child to
hang out with. That's for being sure. I know you're
going to hang out at mister Matt's house. Know the
hell you're not.
Speaker 2 (01:09:54):
You know what I have? You know, I was saying
about my friends in Dallas. I forgot about them that
I haven't talked to them in a long time. I
feel like I've met the them wrong.
Speaker 18 (01:10:00):
Huh, why they're in Dallas? There's nothing that you have
to worry about in that standpoint.
Speaker 2 (01:10:04):
Well, I mean they you know they've got they have
so they used to own an oil company and now
they're no longer in business.
Speaker 18 (01:10:08):
So okay, so they no longer own an oil company.
Why the hell are they saying out in Dallas? They're older,
so why not read to Florida like everyone else who's older.
Speaker 3 (01:10:17):
That's a good question off to call him?
Speaker 2 (01:10:19):
Uh Yeah, I'm friends with all the brothers, Bobby Jr.
Speaker 3 (01:10:24):
And then a raised raisor.
Speaker 2 (01:10:27):
Was a ranch hand while he was there at the ranch,
and so I didn't know him very well because I'm
not a big ranch guy.
Speaker 3 (01:10:32):
But he's he raised the horses and the cattle, that
kind of thing.
Speaker 18 (01:10:34):
So he's our friends with John Dutton. You have no
idea even know what I'm talking about?
Speaker 2 (01:10:40):
Do you?
Speaker 3 (01:10:40):
You don't have any idea what I'm talking about either.
Speaker 4 (01:10:42):
Well, I heard that you were talking about Dallas the
TV show and you said Jr. Oh, I gave it away.
I was like, who are you talking about?
Speaker 9 (01:10:50):
Because I had no idea.
Speaker 4 (01:10:51):
What like, are you really going to try to pull
the Dallas joke on me?
Speaker 2 (01:10:57):
Sasi said John Ross.
Speaker 8 (01:10:59):
Damn it.
Speaker 4 (01:10:59):
I would have never Oh God, that was said?
Speaker 18 (01:11:00):
Why is he friends with the Cincinnati Bengals bust wide receiver?
Speaker 3 (01:11:06):
Folks? I got him going for a while.
Speaker 18 (01:11:08):
You never had me from the get go. The second
you said Jr. Is like this set of a gut
is really trying to pull the wool of her mate
with that Eightyes TV show, which, by the way, is
a great theme song.
Speaker 2 (01:11:18):
What if? What if I would have said, uh, Suellen,
Would that have done anything for you?
Speaker 18 (01:11:23):
Nope, not even a little bit. That would have thrown
me completely off the trail.
Speaker 2 (01:11:27):
By the way, I put a pull question up today,
how happy are you after the Texans win?
Speaker 3 (01:11:32):
My two options were gutsy victory, love it or Jacks choked?
Speaker 2 (01:11:35):
Nbad no big deals. The kids would say sixty three
percent gutsy victory. Thirty seven percent said Jacks choked. He
feels about right right.
Speaker 18 (01:11:42):
You want to talk about somebody who's choked yesterday? The
New York Giants who just fired Brian Dabele. Oh no,
Brian dabel out as head coach of the New York
Giants following the implosion that was against the Chicago Bears.
Speaker 2 (01:11:59):
Yeah, don't think gets to be a topic on our
show today.
Speaker 4 (01:12:01):
Yeah, but still, I mean just that.
Speaker 18 (01:12:04):
But that's the thing is that it's it's exactly oh
w f an God bless got God bless sal and
those idiots up there who are going to find a
way to spin this into like saying that they're positive.
Speaker 4 (01:12:13):
No, I mean, like again, it was.
Speaker 18 (01:12:15):
In my opinion, it was a choke job by Jacksonville
more less so than it was a gotsy bicker by Houston.
Speaker 2 (01:12:20):
Okay, but somebody's got to do it though, right, Yeah,
of course they do. Seven one three two one two
five seven ninety seven. One three two one two five
seven ninety If you want to join our conversation, we'd
love to have you right now. Seven one three two
one two five seven ninety one. So Brian Dabold is
(01:12:42):
out as a Giant's head coach. We got like fifteen
college jobs opening. Yeah, hmm, Cole, which one do we want?
If we had a chance to pick and choose our job,
which one we want?
Speaker 18 (01:12:55):
I'll tell you from the college standpoint, just because Okay,
Number one, I love the say Luisia because the food.
Like I've always said that nobody in Louisiana is fat
but just well fed, because that's how good the.
Speaker 4 (01:13:05):
Food is down there.
Speaker 18 (01:13:07):
LSU when it's at its peak, is the best job
in college football.
Speaker 2 (01:13:10):
Are we sure their facilities are good enough? Are we
sure they have money to pay athletes?
Speaker 18 (01:13:14):
Are you sure that they have enough money to pay
Brian Kelly fifty three million dollars to go away, and
then they they.
Speaker 9 (01:13:20):
Pay their track athletes. They definitely have money.
Speaker 4 (01:13:22):
They pay for everyone.
Speaker 18 (01:13:24):
I mean, like, like, that's the thing with Scott Woodward,
like his t his legacy is going to be tarnished
because he made two of the biggest deals that had
the biggest buyouts in college football history. But he's brought
a national championship to gymnastics. They pay for Livy down
and her boyfriend down there. They've won two national titles
in baseball. They paid for Kim Molky to leave Baylor
and head back to Louisiana. They have the best asset
(01:13:45):
that is, we can recruit our state and nobody can
go ahead and touch us, because if everybody wants to
play at LSU, it's like, I think you're throwing the
food down there. I love crawfish, I love every type
of seed.
Speaker 2 (01:13:58):
For the exac telling me you would take a job
over just because of the food, that's crazy.
Speaker 18 (01:14:02):
I would take a job one hundred percent at the
University of Louisiana State over anywhere else in the country
because of the food.
Speaker 4 (01:14:08):
That'd be a selling point for me.
Speaker 3 (01:14:11):
You're an easy to get then, basically.
Speaker 18 (01:14:12):
I'm a very easy gut I am. I am a
I am a cheap dinner. That's all you gotta take.
Take me to a great crawfish place, and I will
easily go ahead and spread.
Speaker 2 (01:14:19):
So we're gonna give you a chance to recruit all
the top kids from our own state. We're gonna give
you good facilities, We're gonna give you a chance to Basically,
it's open enrollment an LSU. It's done hard to get
kids in. Yes, we're prtally honest, and we're gonna be
able to give you unlimited crawfish. A two fake sign
me up to what you're saying.
Speaker 18 (01:14:35):
Give me, give me a poe boy on Fridays, give
me some type of black and catfish on Tuesdays. Give
me all the recruits in the country. I'll wing you
a national title and I'll get paid.
Speaker 2 (01:14:44):
I will say. One of my favorite places to eat
in the South is Chimes in Baton Rouge.
Speaker 4 (01:14:48):
Oh, it's so good.
Speaker 2 (01:14:50):
They have roles which are really good.
Speaker 18 (01:14:51):
Right that what the their roles are really good there
that they also have this black and catfish dist that
is to die for. I just had a buddy that
went to Baton Rouge for the LSU what was an
l s U Florida game a couple of weeks ago
one of that one and had the time of his life.
Speaker 4 (01:15:06):
Best food he was.
Speaker 18 (01:15:07):
He kept sending me mes, guys sending me food picks
the entire day, and I wanted I got to him
to kill him.
Speaker 3 (01:15:12):
I gotta be honest. I try to send two of
my kids l issue.
Speaker 2 (01:15:16):
I want a carl to play volleyball there, and I
want a camera my oldest to go to school there.
And he's like, no, I like texta tech more.
Speaker 4 (01:15:22):
Well, at least text to tech one this weekend. The
kid crap on a b YU.
Speaker 2 (01:15:25):
They they kicked the crap out of the go ahead.
Speaker 18 (01:15:28):
No. I was just gonna say, are you celebrating that
or are you just waiting? Because Houston still has an
opportunity to get in the Big twelve Championship.
Speaker 2 (01:15:32):
That is exactly what I'm doing. Thank you all right?
Speaker 27 (01:15:34):
Hi Vis, Hey, how you guys doing.
Speaker 18 (01:15:37):
Hey?
Speaker 27 (01:15:38):
I wanted to mention a couple of things about well,
one thing about the game Davis. Davis was lucky he
didn't throw at least four interceptions. He threw some balls
up there that could have easily been picked off and
that would have been totally different story. But of course
he's a backup, so whatever. But I want to want
to get your thoughts on Dimico because man, I'd hate
(01:15:59):
to see him get fired because one, you know, if
this season doesn't turn out well, because those guys played
really hard for him, and the defense is probably one
of the strongest in the league and it's because of him.
And so if there's any firing to do, I think
they should go after the general manager whoever, what's his name, Nick?
Speaker 18 (01:16:23):
Nick?
Speaker 27 (01:16:23):
Yeah, yeah, exactly, because the offensive line issue is just
something that's been nagging us and continues to And I
don't see any light at the end of the tunnel
because the good linemen hard to find. So I just
want to get your thoughts on that.
Speaker 2 (01:16:40):
I will say this, I don't think either. First of all,
I think the chances of Demiko of Ryan's being fired
a zero.
Speaker 18 (01:16:45):
Pro Say, Matt, did you have you heard anybody say
fire Demika?
Speaker 4 (01:16:48):
Ryans like no, no.
Speaker 2 (01:16:50):
No, And I and I will say this again, this
is on a previous to tell the truth, I don't
think Nick Cassa is gonna lose his job either. I
do believe he's if they don't make the playoffs as year,
next year he will be on the bullseye board Square
one look at him. He's gonna have to He's going
to have to have even if he even at the
Texans who squeeze in as a wild card, he's gonna
have to have an amazing draft coming up. He's gonna
(01:17:12):
have to manage, massage the salary cap more. You cannot
for the fourth consecutive year. I'm assuming next year before
have a below average offensive line. They they Matt, we're talking.
Speaker 18 (01:17:25):
We're talking five years the entire tenure of the Nick
Cassario regime. A mediocre offensive line, and I'll be you're
six of it being that bad.
Speaker 4 (01:17:33):
That's the problem that we're looking at.
Speaker 2 (01:17:35):
Okay, well, then he's got to either just who is
trusting or not let somebody else handle it, because yeah,
to me, I will say this, I'm going on record,
I don't think either one lose their jobs this year.
Even if the Texans don't make the playoffs. I do
believe they will be intense. The seat will be externinarily
warm for Nick going into next season.
Speaker 4 (01:17:53):
Yeah, I mean it's ice cold for Demiko.
Speaker 18 (01:17:55):
Like you, you will see GTA six officially, actually come
on out, not he delayed six more times before de
Mika Ryan's fired.
Speaker 4 (01:18:03):
That's a that's not on Clanton job. What did you
just say, GTA six? Have you not heard that they're
delaying the game again?
Speaker 3 (01:18:11):
Oh that's the grand theft at all, Yes, grand theft?
Aughto see, I'm an adult. I don't play video games.
Speaker 18 (01:18:16):
So so Clinton's not an adult. Okay to be fair,
but Clinton's and Manchild's.
Speaker 2 (01:18:20):
Not an adult yet. I'm going to go and say
that on the record, he's not an adult. All right,
Let's get to Willie before we get to the news
at nude. Willie, thank you for holding Good morning, you're
at LYM fifty seven. What's going on?
Speaker 14 (01:18:31):
Thank you for taking the call.
Speaker 8 (01:18:33):
Now.
Speaker 14 (01:18:34):
We watched part of the Texan game yesterday. We had
recorded in the second half, and then we realized they won.
We had some other things to do, but it was
amazing to watch it recorded because you just can't figure
out how this happened. You tried to predict and it's
it's just like one of those I don't know. I
(01:18:55):
don't want to call it a fluke win, but maybe
that's what it was. But anyway, congratulation text, and I
am to Davis Mills. I think he's shown that he
has a little something and the coach anyway I'm calling
really about the Cougars and their comeback win.
Speaker 28 (01:19:15):
Yeah, oh, I mean.
Speaker 14 (01:19:17):
The coach Fritz that hey, the hugest smile on his
face when that game was over. I don't think he
believed it himself. But anyway, I just I'm still very
proud of that team, and I know they had a
happy flight home.
Speaker 2 (01:19:33):
They did have a happy flight home. Thank you for
the phone call, Wellie, I appreciate you. The Cougars are
still in play now. It's going to take a lot
of maneuvering here, big twelve standings. I don't think are
you got to climb with two teams to get over
the team?
Speaker 11 (01:19:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 18 (01:19:46):
Climb three? Did you forgot Cincinnati? That Cincinnati saws ahead
of you? So you have Utah, Cincinnati MBYU. Now the
good news is Cincinnati could get knocked out this weekend
when they face off against BYU. So that makes your
job a little bit easier and you get a bye
week to get better, but not entirely by the way,
will you no offense, Bud? But do you want to
(01:20:07):
why it was so easy to go ahead and predict
that the Jacksonville Jaguars were gonna find a way to
lose that game because they suck because it's Jacksonville, Like
they're not a good team.
Speaker 3 (01:20:16):
Like Jonathan, let me to Johath excuse me? Uh cool?
Speaker 2 (01:20:20):
I don't like using the word sucks when it comes
to a particular person about their abilities. That's very harsh.
You understand that. So with that being said, Trevor Lawrence sucks.
Speaker 4 (01:20:29):
He sucks, he sucks. He's so bad, so bad.
Speaker 18 (01:20:34):
Like okay, you want you want to what I learned yesterday,
Matt when I watched once again Trevor Lawrence crap the bed.
Stop using the term generational because if that was the
one player that everyone unanimously in the NFL drafting landscape
said generational talent, so he was a generational suck fest?
Speaker 4 (01:20:54):
Is that what we're talking about at this point?
Speaker 18 (01:20:55):
My god, how much longer do you at the Liam
Collins throwing his head said, and James Gladstone bashing his
head against the side of a wall yesterday should have
been the ultimate sign that that regime royally screwed on
up signing him to a two hundred and sixty five
million dollar extension.
Speaker 2 (01:21:12):
He sucks, he can't, He overthrows his receivers. He has
terrible awareness about pressure coming. He takes worse sacks than CJ.
Stride would ever dream of taking. He's terrible. We will
celebrate the victory for the Texans. We will celebrate the
Rockets victory against the Milwaukee Bucks. All that plus the
(01:21:34):
news at noon to tell the truth. Bottom of the hour,
one fifty. It's a half of rest in peace to
Lenny Wilkins, a former longtime NBA player and coach. And
have to Paul Taglibu, the former commissioner of the NFL,
both passing away yesterday. All coming up. It is twelve
noon Here on Sports Talk seven ninety is the mac
Thomas Show with Ross No just jump a walk on
(01:22:11):
another song beside this one.
Speaker 4 (01:22:12):
No, this is the only one that is right, Matt.
Speaker 18 (01:22:15):
This is one of the top ten greatest songs ever
written because of the name of the song and the name.
Speaker 8 (01:22:20):
Of the band.
Speaker 9 (01:22:21):
Now you had cold jumping the whole time.
Speaker 8 (01:22:22):
I kid you not.
Speaker 18 (01:22:23):
Jonathan's watching through the camera as I am just channeling
my inner nineties version of myself.
Speaker 2 (01:22:29):
You were three years old, I was.
Speaker 18 (01:22:31):
I wasn't even born when this song came out. I
think it was two tub thumping Chumbawamba.
Speaker 4 (01:22:39):
How do you write? This is what I'm talking about?
Speaker 18 (01:22:41):
That is the most peak nineties song of all time
because of what the name is of the band and
what the name is of the song, it made no sense.
Speaker 2 (01:22:50):
So this song reminds me of a this is so
how old I am? The comments wont WNBA championship point.
It was a it was a big party.
Speaker 9 (01:22:59):
To stop.
Speaker 4 (01:22:59):
You can stop right there, you said, comments we already know.
Speaker 2 (01:23:01):
Okay, So wentto this party and this song came on
and everybody went to the dance floor. And one of
our fellow broadcasters had a wife. She was a lot.
Speaker 8 (01:23:13):
She was out there.
Speaker 2 (01:23:14):
She was out there, and so every time the song
would go, I'd get knocked down, she would fall to
the ground, and then she'd jump herself back up.
Speaker 18 (01:23:24):
Did she get up in time like in rhythm? Like
I get knocked down, hit the floor, I get up again?
Speaker 2 (01:23:30):
Pop up. It was in rhythm. It was such an
incredible athletic achievement. Grand She was only about five feet
tall and maybe weighed one hundred and ten pounds max.
But see a woman drop and then get back up
in in rhythm was quite a magical experience for all
of us that were sitting there. Going first of we
(01:23:50):
were all pretty hammered and sex So was she hammered?
Speaker 4 (01:23:53):
It's the main question, I would think.
Speaker 3 (01:23:55):
So why would you drop the floor intentional then get
right back.
Speaker 18 (01:23:57):
Up because there's people out there. You just said she
was out of left field. That seems like an out
of left field thing to do doing it sober.
Speaker 2 (01:24:04):
Yeah, she was super odd. Now, granted this couple is
no longer married and I can't really go in much
beyond that, but she was. She was an odd bird.
One of my children were not wasn't born at the time,
and she was preparing to predict like she she went
over my wife's belly and saw how the quarter would
(01:24:27):
move back and forth. Oh, it would land a certain way.
And then we said that where we said, Hey, and
I won't mention this girl's name, I said, but if
that happens every time you're telling me that every sex,
every sex is based off of this, that the way
that the way the quarter moves. Yeah, the quarter moves.
She goes, of course, and she was wrong, which is fine.
Speaker 9 (01:24:48):
I was gonna.
Speaker 4 (01:24:48):
Say, what was this? But Carl was this with the
other one?
Speaker 2 (01:24:51):
This is my oldest king think because yeah, he was
born in two thousand and the comments were wonning their
championships like in ninety seven, ninety eight in that range.
Oh yeah, she was odd. She was also said she
used to take care of Oprah's cats and stuff. Oh
my god, she's a cat lady.
Speaker 3 (01:25:10):
Well, I mean, that's problem one of one.
Speaker 18 (01:25:11):
But when you say, let's just start there, you already
talked about her being an odd ball. Just start off
with the fact that she's a cat lady, doesn't like dogs.
Speaker 2 (01:25:18):
Yeah, but then she took care of a celebrities cat.
There's cat Oprah's Oprah. What the hell? That's why I
saw them?
Speaker 3 (01:25:26):
Is that part?
Speaker 2 (01:25:27):
We don't know?
Speaker 3 (01:25:27):
If we don't know if we have believed her or not.
Speaker 9 (01:25:29):
I wouldn't.
Speaker 2 (01:25:30):
I'll give away two inch informations. I gotta move on.
Let's get to the news at nude. I'm getting in trouble.
No she's.
Speaker 4 (01:25:36):
She's listening in right now.
Speaker 2 (01:25:38):
There's zero percent chance. All right. So Cole answered this
question because we've talked about the texts a lot to
where were you? What were you thinking late third quarter
when Travis Aten got to the end zone of making
twenty nine to ten in favor of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Speaker 18 (01:25:52):
How is Nick Cassario going to trade a top ten
pick and sell us on the idea that things are
turning the corner on the offensive line?
Speaker 2 (01:25:59):
And then what were you thinking at the very end?
The final play of the game is Lawrence fumbles it
and Rankins goes thirty two yards in the recovery to
win it thirty six to twenty nine.
Speaker 4 (01:26:09):
The NFL is stupid.
Speaker 18 (01:26:10):
Thank god Trevor Lawrence plays quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Speaker 2 (01:26:13):
Terror he chiss is terrible and that's your NFL. Rewin
from the Texans game, Brian Brian dabol Is out as
a Giant's coach.
Speaker 3 (01:26:20):
No surprise there, NBA.
Speaker 2 (01:26:22):
From last night, Your beloved Rockets are Rockets, America's Rockets.
Kevin durancecors thirty one points as the Rockets win by seven.
The best part of it last night cole as he
took only fifteen shots to get to thirty one points.
Speaker 18 (01:26:38):
I think my favorite stat line so far this season
has been how consistent the three point shooting was for
the Rockets this year and LASTI they had a season
low of thirty eight point five percent.
Speaker 2 (01:26:47):
Yep, I'll be at twenty three. Eleven and seven. Jabari
Smith Rechepherd each had at sixteen. And by the way,
the Reid haters are having a tough week. He had
a really good road trip.
Speaker 18 (01:26:57):
He was awesome against San Antonio. To watch all of
the game against Milwaukee, but I really thought that the
San Antonio game was the best forward to the game.
Speaker 3 (01:27:05):
All Right, anything else going on in the world of sports?
Speaker 2 (01:27:07):
Whichould mention?
Speaker 3 (01:27:07):
Obi?
Speaker 2 (01:27:08):
Did you hear about these Cleveland Guardian pitchers?
Speaker 4 (01:27:11):
Yeah? They were with Classe and who's the other one
or tease?
Speaker 8 (01:27:16):
Ah?
Speaker 2 (01:27:16):
They were throwing pitches literally, And here's the thing. They
were people betting on whether or they were gonna throw
strikes or balls. How could you bet on that? That's
the sickness.
Speaker 18 (01:27:29):
How do you have the okay if you can honestly
predict if you're gonna throw a ball or strike either,
you're presenting yourself an opportunity to give up the home
run because you're throwing just a slosh fest up the middle.
Speaker 8 (01:27:41):
Or you have.
Speaker 18 (01:27:42):
Such perfection, how are you not hitting the zone every
single time?
Speaker 4 (01:27:46):
That's the course that I have.
Speaker 2 (01:27:47):
Here's the story. Ortiz's involvement started in June to twenty five,
when he agreed with Classe that he would be paid
five thousand dollars to throw the first pitch of the
second inning for a ball. Class received five thousand dollars
for arranging the alleged fraud to betters wage a total
of thirteen thousand dollars in the pitch or teas receive
a payment of ninety thousand dominic in pay sales approximately
(01:28:10):
fourteen hundred dollars. Class directed him to lie about the
purpose of the money, and if asked and said, quote,
this payment is for a.
Speaker 3 (01:28:16):
Horse or t said okay, perfect, Okay.
Speaker 18 (01:28:21):
So we've already had Terry Rozier be the guy in basketball, yep.
Speaker 3 (01:28:25):
We now have a.
Speaker 18 (01:28:26):
Manual class saying in baseball, yep, who's gonna be in football?
Speaker 2 (01:28:31):
No, we're not saying that there is some no, no
guarante doing the exact same thing. I'm not letting you
do this. Oh come on, No, you cannot get You
cannot predict who's gonna get in trouble.
Speaker 18 (01:28:41):
So predicting who's gonna get in trouble, I'm saying, if
you had to bet on one person, who is the
guy that is the one that is easily throwing games?
Speaker 3 (01:28:49):
Do this on your six o'clock show.
Speaker 2 (01:28:51):
We're We're not, we're not. We're not slandering people unnecessarily fair. Look,
I team slander, but we're not doing it without some
sort of purpose.
Speaker 18 (01:28:58):
Well, neither one's gonna be playing in them again. Neither
one is going to be back on the Cleveland Guardians again.
Rozier is not going to be playing again.
Speaker 3 (01:29:06):
And how about my guy David Jones.
Speaker 2 (01:29:08):
Oh my god, he had to mortgage his family's house
to get to pay the bail. I mean, my god,
my god.
Speaker 4 (01:29:14):
That sucks.
Speaker 2 (01:29:15):
That's terrible, and I should I guess he can't be
my guy anymore, can he?
Speaker 18 (01:29:19):
I mean, yeah, he still can be your dude. He's
your dude behind bars, but he's so your dude.
Speaker 2 (01:29:23):
Yeah, such a sad situation, so so stupid, And.
Speaker 3 (01:29:29):
That's a sad way in the news of noon.
Speaker 2 (01:29:30):
But we just did it.
Speaker 3 (01:29:34):
Shout out to Mine News to.
Speaker 2 (01:29:35):
Cougars, the Associated Press top twenty five pull is out
in college basketball, and granted it is the second week
of the season, but you ah is two and zero
and we're number one, That Houston, Purdue, Yukon, Duke, Arizona,
all in the top five, all undefeated.
Speaker 18 (01:29:54):
Which one scares you the most of de Throne yet
number one?
Speaker 2 (01:30:00):
Probably Purdue?
Speaker 4 (01:30:02):
Yes, that'd be my guess.
Speaker 2 (01:30:04):
I'm not dug into college basketball talk this yet and
probably won't get until March, but andre it White can.
Speaker 18 (01:30:14):
I think, Yeah, Houston's gonna win it this year.
Speaker 4 (01:30:19):
And that's not me being homer Ism. Are you sure
that's not me being homer Ism? I did not say
that last year. Last year I picked out Obama to
win the whole dang thing, and they can.
Speaker 18 (01:30:30):
Of course, That's what I'm saying, like, but this year,
I don't believe in Bama. I think Natoates is a
good coach. I think that he has a roster that's solid,
but they've looked terrible at times. I mean, they had
a very big slop against UH Saint John's Masson Square
guard on Saturday.
Speaker 4 (01:30:45):
So I think I think Houston's got it.
Speaker 18 (01:30:48):
I'm also saying this with a two game advantage early
on the season, with little to no information whatsoever on
the Houston Cougar should I have yet to watch a single minute.
Speaker 2 (01:30:58):
Well, you need to start watching loving them. They are
America's team, all right. Uh. Indiana versus Penn State on
last Saturday, Not that we would get into it, beat
a deep Big ten conversation, but Penn State played up
really really well, sure and lost the game on a
last second touchdown by Indiana. Jonathan, let's get the call
(01:31:19):
of Gus Johnson ready to again here for those of
you did not hear it, we played a little bit
early in the show and worthy of playing again. As
a play I play broadcaster myself. You can lose your
mind sometimes on great plays, great calls. But he lost
his mind and his voice at the same time. Here
is Gus Johnson calling the Indiana touchdown late in the
(01:31:41):
Hoosiers win.
Speaker 10 (01:31:44):
Mendoza then shut upsip.
Speaker 4 (01:31:58):
Jump it out fan or not a fan?
Speaker 2 (01:32:04):
Well, it's it really can run both ways. I don't
think he forced it. But even if you don't force it,
and that's just how you feel. You're also a broadcaster
for a game that has to maintain some assembments of
a professional call. Does that make sense to you?
Speaker 8 (01:32:24):
Yes?
Speaker 18 (01:32:25):
But the thing that I will say is that is
stereotypical Gus Johnson. Like if that was not that was
an out of left field type of moment of he
never does these type of things. Yeah, I would say
a little bit too much, but that is what Gus
Johnson is known for, having these type of calls that
just immediately catch the listener's ear and you have to
(01:32:46):
go replay a million times.
Speaker 2 (01:32:47):
Then do you do I mean ask you this, Do
you think Gus Johnson did that because he knew he'd
go viral with it? Now me answered that, I think
it's Yes, I think Gus Johnson plays into what he's
supposed to do.
Speaker 18 (01:32:59):
Yes, But also when you watch that play, I mean,
how do you not react that way?
Speaker 2 (01:33:04):
It was one of the greatest catches you've ever seen
a colleg football game. It was fantastic football game.
Speaker 4 (01:33:08):
Yeah, like, my dad's not you, alum.
Speaker 18 (01:33:10):
And he even calls me after that and he's losing
his voice. He does not care about football whatsoever. He
likes baseball. He is losing his absolute mind. As Omar
Cooper's foot barely stays in bounce, so it's like at
that standpoint, Yeah, I think that makes sense that Gus Johnson,
who again probably you are right, plays into the charade
(01:33:32):
of being the dude who is known for the iconic
viral calls on Twitter. He probably knew what was coming.
But that's I think how you're supposed to react to
a catch like that.
Speaker 3 (01:33:43):
It was one in a lifetime.
Speaker 2 (01:33:46):
I would say this, if you love Gus Johnson, you
loved every bitut of it. If you thought Gus was
embellishing your thought though, that's Gus being Gus again. So
I don't think you changed your opinion even though the
play was incredible. Now, I don't know if you heard
this earlier called we did find an alternative broadcast of
the Texans game this weekend. Do you hear about this? Uh, Jonathan,
let's go to the Stingley interception. This is from an
(01:34:08):
alternative feed. This is not Iron Eagle, this is not
Mark VanderMeer, this is not Jacksonville Radio. This is just
some dude calling a Stingley iron t do send them
throw stang lay ahead that stangla.
Speaker 5 (01:34:31):
Oh my god, Oh my god, dangle.
Speaker 4 (01:34:36):
Is that like barstool?
Speaker 3 (01:34:39):
You know what, I don't even know who this is.
Speaker 4 (01:34:41):
Jonathan's that barstool.
Speaker 2 (01:34:43):
Oh my god, let me let me say I can
tell you who it is. Okay, So we got one
more for you here, just here is this is this
dude to whoever this dude is doing, the Mills touchdown
run Listen to.
Speaker 6 (01:34:54):
This Mills shotgun takes a snap looking looking he's gonna
run the ball.
Speaker 2 (01:35:00):
He's running the ball.
Speaker 5 (01:35:01):
Mill does dot dout ad run dead, dot down, dutch down,
dot down, dot down, run down ahead.
Speaker 18 (01:35:20):
So that's his brother, because that's the only person whould
ever cheer that hard for David Mells.
Speaker 2 (01:35:27):
This guy's name is Jeremy Beadling and he goes by
Jeremy Chuggs on Twitter.
Speaker 4 (01:35:33):
That's chugs. Oh my, oh my god, come on chugs.
Speaker 2 (01:35:38):
God.
Speaker 4 (01:35:38):
That's so performative of him too.
Speaker 18 (01:35:40):
No, because the guy works at this company called chat Sports,
and he comes up with these things every single week
where it's like, if you think the textans should do X,
Y or Z trade texts one in the comment section.
And he's such a very nonchalant type of play a
guy when he does these type of bits that is
so performative.
Speaker 2 (01:36:00):
He's got four thousand, two hundred followers. He lives in Dallas.
Speaker 4 (01:36:03):
They all to Dallas the sports Boys.
Speaker 3 (01:36:05):
You got a YouTube page, imagine that.
Speaker 4 (01:36:08):
Are you gonna subscribe? Is that another podcast you're gonna
listen to?
Speaker 2 (01:36:12):
Matt's Office. That's one of ninety Texans podcasts I will
not be listening to.
Speaker 18 (01:36:17):
I think that's the one you do is subscribe to
m So was it a bit for him to do this?
Speaker 4 (01:36:23):
Or I think it's a bit.
Speaker 18 (01:36:26):
I personally think it's a bit because Jeremy is not
one of these guys that I could imagine actually doing
that on the regular, especially because of he would never
do that for CJ. Shroud, So why are you doing
it for Davis Mills, Nasasha Davis Mills.
Speaker 4 (01:36:39):
That's just being honest here.
Speaker 18 (01:36:41):
There's been so many more moments where Ciga has had
that type of play and yeah, reacted that way.
Speaker 3 (01:36:45):
Jeremy's not listening to the show, but Jeremy one.
Speaker 2 (01:36:47):
Because I've never played a Jeremy Beadling count in my
entire life, so I can't. I didn't even know he
was until about two hours ago. That's I'm telling you
call the danger of this for U tab is pretty
is pretty profound.
Speaker 8 (01:36:58):
Here.
Speaker 2 (01:36:59):
You can find all sorts of out there on the
four you page on Twitter on the for you Yeah yeah, sure.
Speaker 18 (01:37:04):
I sadly there's way too many things that I look
at that currently are on my for you page that
probably don't need to exist.
Speaker 2 (01:37:11):
Yeah, and don't tell your wife about half those things?
Dress all right? Seven one three two one two five
seven ninety seven one three two one two five seven niney.
If you want to chime in on all the Texans, uh,
if you did anybody watch a Rockets game last night,
because that was pretty impressive too.
Speaker 3 (01:37:27):
We'll get to that a little bit.
Speaker 18 (01:37:28):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:37:28):
Anything from college football you want to get to as well,
including whether or not A and M should jump Indiana
in the college football playoff rankings. We'll get to that too.
Seven one three two one two five seven ninety Please
join us, come say hello on Texans, Rockets, college football.
Even some astro chatters certainly welcome. Oh but I do
(01:37:51):
ladies and gentlemen, now remember I do like to lie
and Cole you know we've broken bread a couple of times.
Speaker 3 (01:37:59):
I'm a fan fantastic liar.
Speaker 4 (01:38:01):
You were terrible on it.
Speaker 18 (01:38:02):
I've caught you in every single one whenever I've seen
these episodes of Tell the Truth.
Speaker 2 (01:38:06):
All Right, it's fine, it's fine. Three of the four
takes I'm gonna give you. I'm telling you the truth.
One I am not. It's up to you to figure
out which one of the forum lying with you. Ready, yep? Now,
Jonathan Bat's about two fifty. Ross Bat's about six hundred.
So all right you are.
Speaker 4 (01:38:21):
I'll go and say you're two eighty five back.
Speaker 2 (01:38:23):
Okay, right here we go.
Speaker 3 (01:38:24):
Number one to tell the truth.
Speaker 2 (01:38:26):
This week. I watched a little bit of that Pittsburgh
game last night. I watched the way Baltimore has been
playing as of late. The Baltimore Ravens are going to
win the AFC North as long as again, obviously Lamar
Jackson stays healthy. Okay, they're going to overtake everything there.
Speaker 22 (01:38:44):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:38:44):
Number two, the Texans guys are going to get a
deal they can't refuse in the offseason. They're gonna trade
Davis Mills. Somebody in the NFL is gonna make Davis
Mills the starter next Seasonnumber two. Number three, I know
the Chiefs aren't in the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (01:39:05):
If the season was to end.
Speaker 2 (01:39:07):
Today, but I don't care. They are still my pick
to win the American Football Conference and number four, the
Aggies should be thinking about Mike Elko being quartered by
other teams. I think eighty Trev Alberts needs to bump
(01:39:27):
his pay and rework his contract to keep Mike Elko
in College Station. Now, these opinions do change on the
regular sure, so this is how I feel us to
today because the reason why I bring up Mike Elko
is because there are now so many jobs opening still.
Which one of the four am I not telling the truth?
(01:39:47):
I'll recap him again. If the Baltimore Ravens are gonna
win the AMC North, the Texans are gonna get a
deal they can't refuse in the off season. They're gonna
trade Davis Mills. I know the Texans are not in
the playoffs. The Chiefs aren't in the playoffs, but I
an end of the day, but I don't care. When
the season ends, they will be the AFC champions or
the act. You should be thinking about Mike Elko going elsewhere.
(01:40:07):
It'd be smart for Trev Alberts to bump his pay
to keep him in College Station. Which one of the
four am I not telling the truth?
Speaker 4 (01:40:15):
Well, number one is a fact, so it's not a lie.
Speaker 18 (01:40:17):
They're they're winning the AFC North, that's for certain. He's
still he's really believing that. I don't no, hang on,
hang on, hang on. I think he's selling the truth
on Mike Alco because Mike Outco will get paid this
offseason Penn State, and he is from Penncil. He is
from New Jersey too. I don't think he'll go pro stay,
so I think those two are out. I think he's
(01:40:39):
telling the truth on both them. Matt, what to you
is a deal that is so hard for the Texans
to pass up.
Speaker 4 (01:40:49):
Regarding a Davis Mills trade.
Speaker 2 (01:40:51):
Well, mid round draft pick.
Speaker 18 (01:40:53):
So you're saying a third round pick, let's start through fourth. Okay, Okay,
here's the thing. If you get a third round pick
for Davis Mills on that one year contract, you are
one mak of that move because he's probably worth it.
I think a fifth round pick, you're getting your recoupance
on what it costs you to go get him. I
(01:41:17):
don't think that they're gonna be offering a third round pick,
is the question. So a mid round pick would you
give that up to go hit recent on the back
of quarterback position is the main thing. Kansas City still
has Patrick Mahomes. That's the that's the trump card.
Speaker 26 (01:41:31):
Is that Broncos, Colts and Cowboys back to back to back.
Speaker 18 (01:41:34):
But just okay, does Matt really believe that Daniel Indiana
Jones is going to actually make it into January?
Speaker 9 (01:41:39):
But you're saying the whole league, right man.
Speaker 4 (01:41:41):
You're not saying He's saying the AFC, AFC.
Speaker 18 (01:41:43):
So that would mean the Bills, the Patriots, Colts, Colts, Broncos, Texas.
I'm taking the Chiefs, You're taking the Chiefs.
Speaker 26 (01:41:57):
I'm taking that. There's no at this plan point if
Matt believes that I got today on that. But I'm
taking that one.
Speaker 18 (01:42:01):
There's no way I'm gonna be I'm gonna be bullish here.
I'm gonna go out and say that Matt does not
believe that the Texans will get an offer for Davis
Mills a third round pick to turn it into we're.
Speaker 4 (01:42:16):
Giving up our backup quarterback.
Speaker 18 (01:42:18):
I think he's lying on that because I don't think
he believes that Davis Mills is going to go for
a third round pick.
Speaker 2 (01:42:23):
So you think I'm lying about Davis Mills, Jonathan, you
think I'm lying about the Chiefs. Here we go, guys.
The Baltimore Ravens are gonna win the AMFCP. Okay, the Steelers
are totally. I mean Aaron Rodgers was terrible yesterday. And
by the way, I know that Joe Burrows down a
twenty one day return for the Colt for the Bengals,
they can't stop a nosebleed defensively, it doesn't really matter
(01:42:45):
when he comes back.
Speaker 3 (01:42:45):
So yeah, the Ravens are winning the AMC North.
Speaker 2 (01:42:48):
I do believe that Truv Abberts is gonna be pressured
to give Mike Cole salary bomb. I mean, look where
the Aggies are, Guys, they haven't been this way. I
don't know every nine was the last time they were good?
You bumped the guy salary up. I think the AFC
is so wide open that a team like the Chiefs,
who are on the outset looking in, could run the
(01:43:10):
table and win some games.
Speaker 3 (01:43:12):
So I do believe the Chiefs are still my pick
to win the I'm.
Speaker 26 (01:43:15):
Gonna remind him of this the next three mondays. The
next three mondays, I'm gonna remind him of this.
Speaker 2 (01:43:21):
Uh, the Texans can't move away from Davis Mills. C J.
Stroud's had back to back concussions, and even if they
got a decent round pick, he makes He makes decent
money for a backup, not extraordinary money, exterordinary money. But
the reality is you need him as an insurance policy.
And if your insurance policy for one game or two
games a year can throw for two hund andy two yards.
(01:43:41):
I know it was against Jacksonville. You got to keep
him because CJ gets hurt, he just does so. I
don't think the Texans would trade Davis Mills just about
under any circumstance.
Speaker 3 (01:43:52):
So Jonathan, you're wrong.
Speaker 8 (01:43:54):
Cole.
Speaker 2 (01:43:55):
You were able to figure out which one I was lying.
You know what I'm telling you the truth.
Speaker 4 (01:44:02):
I feels so.
Speaker 9 (01:44:02):
Good hate watching the Chiefs from here on out.
Speaker 2 (01:44:06):
You know what, You watching the chief who.
Speaker 7 (01:44:10):
Wants to see them once again?
Speaker 9 (01:44:12):
Go because there's no way you believe the Chiefs can
take it all?
Speaker 2 (01:44:15):
Oh, I believe you give me the reasons why New
England is a young football team. Drake May is not
going to run the table to win the AFC UH
the Colts. Daniel Jones has regressed the last couple of weeks, Thankuman,
who else?
Speaker 3 (01:44:29):
Santy?
Speaker 2 (01:44:29):
Theers? The Los Angeles Chargers have numerous issues. Denver, Denver
can't score at all. Tell me why Kannasity can't win
those games.
Speaker 4 (01:44:39):
I'll tell you. I'll trump all of you.
Speaker 18 (01:44:40):
There's one there's one reason you have the best quarterback
in the NFL to bail you out of trouble.
Speaker 4 (01:44:46):
That's all I need to say.
Speaker 3 (01:44:47):
You got two tight ends, you got five wide receivers.
Speaker 18 (01:44:49):
You got top ten defense, a great play caller by week.
Speaker 26 (01:44:54):
Can we agree that Mahomes has looked sloppy this entire season?
There's not one game you can go back to like, yeah, Holmes, No,
he's been gray, Okay, other quarterbacks.
Speaker 18 (01:45:02):
Can we also agree that he's bought himself enough.
Speaker 4 (01:45:04):
Equity over the last nine years to be.
Speaker 18 (01:45:06):
Able to have a bad season to then be able
to put it all together in the playoffs.
Speaker 26 (01:45:10):
Well, reas this conversation in three weeks, they better win
these nights.
Speaker 2 (01:45:14):
You're gonna you're gonna be peppering me over this, aren't you?
Speaker 9 (01:45:17):
Well, because no way, I don't. I just don't believe that.
Speaker 2 (01:45:19):
They have had the hardest schedule in the NFL this
season period industry.
Speaker 18 (01:45:23):
I'll tell you this, Jonathan. Here's the way I look
at it. Matt knows for e fact that Texans are
not getting a third round pick for Davis Mills, and
therefore you can still believe that the Chiefs can win it. Ah,
nobody is paying a third round pick for Davis Mills.
Speaker 9 (01:45:35):
I'd agree with you that. I'm just I'm just I'm not.
Speaker 18 (01:45:38):
Giving them up for a fourth like I'm giving them
up for a Day two pick.
Speaker 2 (01:45:41):
You give me a time. I'm not giving him up
because my quarterback goes down once a year. That's just
the reality of it. Two concussions back to back years.
I won't push Davis Mills a great insurance policy.
Speaker 4 (01:45:52):
He just is he's up.
Speaker 18 (01:45:54):
In the great words of Matt Thomas, He's fine.
Speaker 2 (01:45:57):
Yeah. I mean put it this way, if Davis Mills
is running your team for seventeen weeks, you're not making
the playoffs. I mean, damn You're You're going at best
six to eleven, right, So why would anybody want to
overpay for some of that? I mean, would you would
if you're would you have Jacoba Pricett or Davis Mills.
Speaker 18 (01:46:13):
Jacob He looked kind of no, he looked awful yesterday.
He won me fantasy because of I had Seattle's defense.
They got me twenty two points.
Speaker 2 (01:46:19):
I mean, Davis Mills all of a sudden turn Arizon
into a winning football team. Probably not? No does Aaron
does Jacoby Brissette? I mean, is this a Davis Mills
turn the Browns into a playoff contender?
Speaker 4 (01:46:27):
Probably does he at least turn them into a five
win team.
Speaker 2 (01:46:31):
That's a question. But you're not paying a third round
pick for that, exactly.
Speaker 18 (01:46:34):
That's the point is that you you're not giving up
anything more than a fifth round pick for that.
Speaker 2 (01:46:37):
Jonathan, you sound ross bitters, which you sound.
Speaker 9 (01:46:39):
No, you know what. This probably is my saltiest loss.
Speaker 4 (01:46:41):
I'm not glad it is your salties thousand baby.
Speaker 2 (01:46:44):
All right, Jim and Ians, we'll get to you in
a couple of minutes if you want to back up,
Jim seven one three two one two five seven ninety

Jacksonville Media. They're paying off and we got to believe
it or not. Today all things about Paul Tagley Boom
and Lenny wilkins Man. They both rest in peace twelve
(01:47:06):

some breaking news.
Speaker 4 (01:47:12):
Let's go.
Speaker 7 (01:47:15):
That's one.
Speaker 2 (01:47:20):
That's two, all right, it's three an a taurus stop there,
and it's a fraud. It's a fraud, breaking news.
Speaker 4 (01:47:29):
Oh boy, I knew it too.
Speaker 9 (01:47:31):
But what is it?
Speaker 2 (01:47:32):
What do you mean?
Speaker 3 (01:47:33):
How do you know it's fraud?
Speaker 18 (01:47:34):
Because I have Twitter pulled up on four different apps
right now, my laptop, my phone, my work laptop.
Speaker 4 (01:47:41):
I would have seen it to.
Speaker 2 (01:47:43):
Make rib is back. Baby, let's see it really?
Speaker 4 (01:47:45):

Speaker 2 (01:47:46):

Speaker 4 (01:47:49):
Oh my god, light leight read me another one hit?
Speaker 3 (01:47:52):
One more, one more breaking, one more.
Speaker 18 (01:47:56):
I didn't realize that Matt Thomas and I were the
only two mcgrib stands.
Speaker 4 (01:47:59):
That one on the menu year.
Speaker 3 (01:48:00):

Speaker 2 (01:48:10):

I will will buy. And here's the only problem. I
went to mcriblocator dot com. There are only four locations.
According to mcriblocator dot com, it's serving him right now.
Speaker 26 (01:48:25):
M riston dot com.
Speaker 2 (01:48:29):

Speaker 18 (01:48:54):
I mean, like, I'm not asking that we don't need
to have. I'll drive the Spring. I mean, I'll drive
to the Woodlands. My parents live there. I don't really care, right, right, right, really,
none of Houston, none of Cypress.
Speaker 4 (01:49:04):
Like I'll drive the twenty minutes of the Cypress when
if I have to.
Speaker 2 (01:49:07):
Well, here's what I mean. This could be a false
thing too. I mean, I don't know how legit this
McRib located doc.
Speaker 4 (01:49:12):
I mean, I'm going to McDonald's after this, just this check.
Speaker 8 (01:49:14):

Speaker 2 (01:49:15):
I'm not kidding, we don't. The only McDonald's I can
think of by our office would have to be somewhere
in West tim Or.
Speaker 4 (01:49:21):
Correct, it's the one across Yeah, it's literally right across
in post.
Speaker 2 (01:49:24):
So oh okay, so here's what you gotta do. I
want you to call us in a one o'clock hour.
Speaker 18 (01:49:30):
I will call you in the one o'clock hour. I'm
not I'm not joking. And when the McGriff's back, I
come on the first day. I always get a large
fry and at Dr Pepper.
Speaker 2 (01:49:36):
Okay, And then if it is, then tomorrow, because you're
gonna do, You're gonna a couple hours me tomorrow from
twelve to two. Yeah, so you can come in on
your way in and Brett and by mcgribble.
Speaker 18 (01:49:45):
I will be bringing in the GRIBs form you, me
and Jonathan because we will all indulge in the greatest
food has.
Speaker 2 (01:49:51):
The greatest fast food sandwich out there not named the
Big mac mac. Eh, let's not go crazy.
Speaker 18 (01:49:58):
I'm sorry, Matt, I'm not even joking. I remember the
first time I had a mcgrib at nine years old,
and I have begged McDonald's ever since. Who cares about
the twenty four hour breakfast?
Speaker 26 (01:50:06):
My name Jay said he just went to McDonald's. It's
coming this week. If it's not at the every location, well.
Speaker 18 (01:50:12):
I'm going to the one right across the street. I'm
going to be demanded to give me a mcgrib good good.
Speaker 2 (01:50:17):
We will eat mcribs and we'll do a video of it,
and we'll show Ross what he's missing on it because
he hates it and he gets he's he's a food snap.
Speaker 3 (01:50:24):
Period.
Speaker 4 (01:50:25):
Why does he hate mcribbs. Is he a communist?
Speaker 3 (01:50:27):
Come exactly? He is hoity toity. I want to sit
in line for three hours and by and wait for barbecue.
Speaker 2 (01:50:33):
You know what.
Speaker 3 (01:50:34):
I go through the ten minute drive through McDonald's and
be just found.
Speaker 18 (01:50:37):
I will be very much indulging in that fake pork
meat that's sloughing barbecue sauce withwiions and extra pickles.
Speaker 2 (01:50:43):
Onions, extra pickles, fries, unsweet tea.
Speaker 4 (01:50:47):
Let's go switch to doctor Pepper. But still you and
I are speaking the same language.
Speaker 2 (01:50:50):
Brother, That's what I'm talking. Oh my god, that's why
you're always walking on this show. Jim on seven ninety,
thank you for holding in good afternoon.
Speaker 25 (01:50:58):
You bet hey, Yeah, you're you're your three li Your
three are truce and a lie was a lay down.
They're not as long as Sieja keeps getting hurt, they're
not letting Davis Mills go. He gets you one or
two wins a year, he's worth it. But that's not
why I called. The reason I called was I watched
the game from home yesterday and I cheat. I'll tell
you I cheat.
Speaker 28 (01:51:18):
I record the game.
Speaker 25 (01:51:20):
I started about forty minutes late. That way, I don't
have to watch commercials. I fast forward all the commercials.
Speaker 28 (01:51:26):
So I'm watching.
Speaker 25 (01:51:27):
It and I'm thinking, ah, they're down.
Speaker 28 (01:51:31):
And I look up.
Speaker 25 (01:51:32):
Half the people have left the upper bowl a reliant
are NRG and about a third have left the bottom bawl.
And I'm like, I'm gonna turn it off. And my
wife's like, she's looking at it online and she goes,
don't turn it off.
Speaker 28 (01:51:46):
I'm like, what, no way, man, They're down.
Speaker 14 (01:51:49):
They're down by damn near twenty points in.
Speaker 28 (01:51:51):
The fourth quarter.
Speaker 25 (01:51:52):
They got to backup quarterback in it's over cooked done.
One of the best games I have ever seen in
my whole life, essentially being a lifelong Houston Texans fan.
Speaker 2 (01:52:03):
Here you go. I you know what I hear. I
hear the excitement in your voice, and it makes me
happy because people don't have enough excime in their voices sometimes. Yep,
good for you, good for you. And by the way,
nice moving the forty minutel. The problem is I could
not stay away from Twitter.
Speaker 18 (01:52:20):
So my thing is fantasy will tell me the updates,
so I will see the update of so and so
get in the end zone, so like I have Travis Etn,
I would have seen he was in the end zone
on a forty minute delay.
Speaker 4 (01:52:32):
Okay, well that's where the game's over.
Speaker 3 (01:52:34):
Are you ready for my son?
Speaker 2 (01:52:35):
This is let me take him a little peeking in
my life. Here. My oldest who is a diehard Texas
tech fan prog graduate of the Texas Tech University. He
got dressed up to go to the Renaissance Festival on Saturday.
Speaker 4 (01:52:48):
I applaud him for that.
Speaker 2 (01:52:50):
Actually, okay, so that was strike one.
Speaker 18 (01:52:53):
That was a strike. I'd give him a conflict. I
give him a cheer for strikes.
Speaker 2 (01:52:57):
I'm a costume for the Once festival.
Speaker 4 (01:53:01):
Was it over under one hundred and fifty?
Speaker 2 (01:53:03):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:53:03):
I am not spoken to him. He's he's at work
right now.
Speaker 18 (01:53:06):
Kans Well ask him if it was over under one
hundred fifty he was at one twenty five.
Speaker 4 (01:53:09):
I give him a cheer.
Speaker 2 (01:53:11):
So he addressed up for that number two he said,
I'm going to go and I don't want to know
about the BYU Tech game. He's going to turn his
phone off, and he did.
Speaker 29 (01:53:23):
He came home.
Speaker 2 (01:53:24):
After he's staying with us right now, okay, hashtag saving
money and so he came home and watched the game organically.
And I do applauding for that. So while I give
him a little bit of crap for going to the
Renaissance Festival one, going in costume two, I do give
him credit for not looking at his phone to see
(01:53:45):
how BYU Tech did see.
Speaker 18 (01:53:47):
I give him a strike for going to the Renfest.
When college football was on television, I would wait till Sunday,
cause again with Texas Technical, I'd have.
Speaker 2 (01:53:55):
Been to the Renaissance Festival one time in your entire life,
in my entire life. Oh, I'll take it and all
they did and go.
Speaker 3 (01:54:02):
Would you like a turkey leg?
Speaker 18 (01:54:05):
It's a fantastic turkey leg, Matt Thomas.
Speaker 4 (01:54:08):
It's the best barb of calicious.
Speaker 2 (01:54:09):
But I don't need to go spend one hundred and
fifty dollars.
Speaker 3 (01:54:11):
On a turkey leg.
Speaker 4 (01:54:11):
You're not spend one hundred minutes dressed up.
Speaker 2 (01:54:13):
You spending my son you're spending.
Speaker 18 (01:54:15):
One hundred and eighty five dollars on an experienced where
you're sitting in the hot squattery sun of November watching
a jousting match go on while drinking an ice cold
beer in one hand, shooting a bow and arrow in
the other hand, and having a turkey leg surrounding around
your neck, Like, how are you not enjoying that that?
Speaker 2 (01:54:31):
I want my son living with me to save money
to get his own apartment. I do not want him
spending one hundred and whatever dollars it was on every
ridiculous I would.
Speaker 4 (01:54:41):
Gladly spend one hundred and fifty dollars.
Speaker 18 (01:54:43):
I will give your son one hundred and fifty dollars
right now to go enjoy and take you to the Renfest.
Speaker 2 (01:54:50):
Right now.
Speaker 3 (01:54:50):
I'm gonna ask him how much it cost the costume.
Speaker 8 (01:54:54):
I will pay.
Speaker 18 (01:54:54):
I will match that price if you dress if you
dress up to go to the ren FESTI I can.
Speaker 4 (01:55:00):
I will pay that price.
Speaker 3 (01:55:01):
Not Roger, you're on seveer.
Speaker 13 (01:55:06):
Hey, what's going on? Guys man? Everything was great this weekend, uh,
with the only hiccup being the spurs.
Speaker 24 (01:55:14):
Uh.
Speaker 13 (01:55:15):
You know, kind of like giving us three pointer deaths.
Speaker 24 (01:55:18):
Uh.
Speaker 13 (01:55:19):
To no end. I just don't know what happened in
that game, But everything else I can't complain about, even
your even the Coubs came back and and won that game.
Uh yeah, I nick ribs. I'm thinking, really seriously thinking about,
you know, just buying five or six of them just
for a side spread on the Thanksgiving table. I don't care.
Speaker 2 (01:55:38):
Yeah, what idea.
Speaker 13 (01:55:41):
They're gonna be there. They're gonna be there just as
an option. Hey, you don't have to do them, but hey,
there they are if you want to. I'm having one,
that's for sure. Uh yeah, for sure. And we don't
even relieve you. I mean, we don't like turkey like
I give it after the next couple of days. What
are you doing with turkey? You pretty much give it
to the animals. I'm doing sorry, don't do it.
Speaker 18 (01:56:04):
If you must have paid the price, Roger, don't tell you, dude,
go for it.
Speaker 13 (01:56:08):
Thanks side traditional side, thanks you, side all good and
side side the option of ribs. Baby, let's go, let's go.
Speaker 2 (01:56:17):
Thank you, Roger, thank you very much. Yeah, a platter
of mcribs on Thanksgiving.
Speaker 3 (01:56:22):
What a wonderful treat to I.
Speaker 18 (01:56:24):
Would not complain about that. And you know what it
to get that keeps on giving Matt Thomas.
Speaker 2 (01:56:28):
All right, by the way, I just got a word
from Cameron. One hundred dollars he's spend in this costume.
Speaker 18 (01:56:31):
You know what good that's it's a fair price. That's
a very fair price.
Speaker 2 (01:56:34):
Camera that helps pay for electricity in his apartment when
he gets down the road.
Speaker 4 (01:56:39):
He can't get an apartment. He stay with you forever.
Speaker 2 (01:56:41):
God, he's gonna be with me.
Speaker 4 (01:56:42):
He's gonna be with you for twenty more years.
Speaker 2 (01:56:45):
All right, Hey, you need to go get a going
to Okay, you're going to McDonald's down the.
Speaker 18 (01:56:49):
Street right literally getting in my car as soon as
I get off the mic and going to McDonald's.
Speaker 2 (01:56:53):
Go get us an update on McRib and call us
a call. Call from the drive through. I will call
from the drive through and get to get some fries
for Jonathan.
Speaker 4 (01:57:01):
He's hungry, Jonathan, what do you want?
Speaker 1 (01:57:03):
You know what?
Speaker 26 (01:57:03):
Actually, I'll get you something, but I'm get I gotta
get these left up with my girl gave me. If
I don't, oh, you got definitely forget it.
Speaker 2 (01:57:10):
So tomorrow tomorrow, if there's a m there's mcgribs tomorrow
at the location in your office. I'm buying, so don't
bring any food. We'll figure that out, all right. Coming back,
final hour of The Matt Thomas Show with Ross here
at twelve fifty eight Here on Sports Talk seven.
Speaker 1 (01:57:23):
Ninety is the Matt Thomas Show with Ross.
Speaker 2 (01:57:32):
Want to shout out one of our listeners, Peyton and
uh Peyton told me moments ago that you can go
to the McDonald's app and you could put in your
current location in the McDonald's nearest to you, which would
be for me on King would drive and the king
would drive a location has the McRib. So go to
(01:57:55):
your McDonald's app and let the magic happen. Oh, this
is fantastic. This is Let me tell you something. The
Texans win yesterday, the Rockets win yesterday, the Cougars win Friday,
the mcribis back.
Speaker 3 (01:58:14):
I mean, things happen in fours, right.
Speaker 9 (01:58:17):
I thought it was threes, but we'll go with it.
Speaker 2 (01:58:19):
I like it. Well, death only happens in threes, Jonathan,
it's the it's the other stuff that happens in four.
Speaker 9 (01:58:24):
Remember you, we were right with that. That was like
three days in a row, three deaths, and that one week.
Speaker 3 (01:58:28):
We had two deaths are anything. We had Lenny Wilkins
and Paul.
Speaker 9 (01:58:31):
Taglibo, see get bad your bad jinks.
Speaker 2 (01:58:34):
I don't know, and bad I'll dying today. I don't know. Well,
maybe there will be people that will die for sure.
All right, Oh man, I'm in such a better mood now,
I'm all of a sudden. My cold's not nearly as bad.
My voice got a little extra bravital to it. Yeah,
you noticed how best better I feel?
Speaker 8 (01:58:49):
Now?
Speaker 2 (01:58:50):
Maybe the doctors saw you need serious of some mcribs
to calm you down and make you feel better.
Speaker 3 (01:58:55):
Let's go the phones, talk to some people.
Speaker 2 (01:58:57):
Uh one o four on Sports Talk Sevenini, we've gone
to believe it or not? Coming up at one point
fifty it is all things about Lenny Wilkins, the longtime
NBA coach, and Paul tagli who would be a longtime
NFL commissioner. Let's talk to Easy at one o five
on seven, Honey, Easy, what's the good word?
Speaker 11 (01:59:16):
First of all?
Speaker 28 (01:59:16):
On fifty nine Litter York, the mcgrid is back hurt.
Speaker 2 (01:59:20):
Oh hell yeah.
Speaker 28 (01:59:23):
I was about to go get a couple of hamburgers,
and I thought the final I was like, oh, extra
pickles please.
Speaker 2 (01:59:29):
Yes, sir, and the shaved onions. Make sure you get
a plenty of shaved yeah.
Speaker 28 (01:59:33):
Yeah. And you can't talk to nobody after that because
your brother's gonna seem like crazy. But that's fine. I
wasn't gonna talk to nobody after that. I had a
couple of things that I'm wanting to ask you about
that Saturday the fighting game again? Was it Saturday against
the Spurs? Was it a lot of flops that you
saw that they shouldn't have been called that that even
(01:59:55):
even that flagrant that was called U should that have
been appreciated?
Speaker 2 (02:00:02):
You know, they look at those things easy with a
fine uh with not like a microscope, but they look
at those things over and over again. I think it
was a men Thompson. I called for a flicking correct
and when he went for the swipe. I didn't think
there was anything that was so noticeable. I could have
seen the calls flip either direction on a lot of
that stuff. Flopping is becoming a problem in the NBA,
(02:00:24):
and it has been for a long period of time.
The only thing is is that the NBA is trying
to do a better job of catching the floppers. They're
calling technical files now more than I ever had before.
So I'm encouraged that this is going to stop. This
is not going to be a current trend.
Speaker 28 (02:00:38):
I gotta I gotta rint his own story for you.
I went the only time I've been. It was during
a field trip in high school. And my teacher, which
was my anguish teacher at that point, Yeah, sheet bought
a couple of rounds of beers. I paid for them,
but seat bottom and we Yate drank the ya ale
(02:01:01):
I was eighteen years old.
Speaker 3 (02:01:03):
Wait a minute, wait, wait a minute, wait a minute.
So you went to it. Did you go on a
school trip or was this this a trip that your teacher?
Speaker 28 (02:01:10):
It was a school trip. We went on a bus.
We were in a school trip, and this is this
is my high school teacher from the ninth grade and
then in the twelfth grade. She was also my English teacher, Okay,
and she bought her the round of beers. That's the
funniest stuff.
Speaker 2 (02:01:26):
I lazy? Were you?
Speaker 3 (02:01:28):
Was she?
Speaker 2 (02:01:29):
What was her point in doing that because she wanted
to be the cool teacher or was she trying to
I'll let you finish it. What was her point?
Speaker 28 (02:01:39):
I took a side and the ass report and she
said yeah, And it was not just me, it was
like five of us. So she bought us all a
couple of rounds of beers.
Speaker 2 (02:01:49):
You're pretty proud of yourself, aren't you a little bit?
Speaker 28 (02:01:53):
I mean that was a long time ago. But by
the way, shout out to your son Texas Tech. My
going there now.
Speaker 2 (02:02:00):
Yes, I love Texas.
Speaker 28 (02:02:02):
Yeah, I need to my need to go in there now.
He's gonna be great in what he does because that's
a great school, great game, great game against BYU. And
I love you guys. And next time I see you,
I'm gonna bring you some more hals like I did
the last time we were at the ETO. And I'm
gonna hang up and lit all right.
Speaker 2 (02:02:20):
Easy, good to hear from a friend. Thank you very
much for the phone call. Yeah, I like Tech. You know. Look,
I didn't like when Texas Technic Mike Cougar's I get that,
but I respect the hollow Texas Tech.
Speaker 3 (02:02:30):
And you know what they're doing it the right way.
They're paying players.
Speaker 2 (02:02:33):
Texas Tech defense is exemplary why they pay players to
go to West Texas. So we got to just acknowledge,
we get we have to acknowledge Texa Tech couldn't draw
flies when it came to good defensive players until Cody
Johnson said, I'm gonna write y'all checks, and he did,
and his checks have directly helped Texas Tech go to
(02:02:54):
the College Football Playoff. And I'm presume they're gonna go
because they were really good. And my guess is will
play BYU in the Big twelve Championship game again if
they if everything holds, if they lose that game, it'll
still go. Yeah, tex texts astonishing and you know what
I've also I don't know if y'all caught this or not,
but you know, the game Day crew was there.
Speaker 3 (02:03:17):
I'm the show is really good. It's too long for me.
Speaker 2 (02:03:20):
I can't watch three hours of College Game Day just
because that's just that's just too much. And McAfee kind
of drives me nuts. But I will tell you I
love the kicking contest. Yeah you do.
Speaker 3 (02:03:35):
I live for that kicking contest.
Speaker 9 (02:03:38):
DoD He's legit, like, actually, why wouldn't it be? I
don't know. I just I thought it was kind of
you know, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (02:03:45):
I don't know now, I don't know how they know
to your point, though, I don't know how they picked
the kids.
Speaker 9 (02:03:49):
Yeah, you see what I'm saying.
Speaker 26 (02:03:50):
I don't know, like that's like you picked somebody to
crowd for real.
Speaker 9 (02:03:52):
I don't know how that goes back.
Speaker 2 (02:03:54):
So the dude had text attack on front Saturday. He's
offered five hundred thousand dollars.
Speaker 9 (02:04:00):
And they get this money. Correct, This is like.
Speaker 2 (02:04:02):
Apparently they do. And first of all, whoever's sponsored now?
And that's why I'm missing their no, because I don't
even know who does it, but I guarantee you he
espn this. I ain't eating cutting checks by himself. I mean,
there's gotta be somebody that's behind this. So the dude
misses the first kick. He didn't win in a shank,
but it was definitely wide left. So then everyone's like
one more kick, one more kick, one more kick, and
(02:04:23):
so he goes, Okay, I'll give you two hundred and
fifty thousand dollars and then we'll kick in two hundred
and fifty thousand dollars to the school for scholarships. So
he's still kicking for five hundred thousand dollars although he's
only gonna get half of it.
Speaker 3 (02:04:36):
And the kid trained it. He took a shoe off
Jonathan and made the kick.
Speaker 9 (02:04:41):
Oh he was Yeah, he was ready.
Speaker 2 (02:04:43):
So my question is, how do you apply for that?
And how much time do you get advance notice do
you get? Because if you're gonna be kicking for a
half million, don't you want a few warm ups?
Speaker 26 (02:04:53):
See what I'm saying. If it's right on the spot,
I respect it, like okay, you know.
Speaker 2 (02:04:59):
Like for instance, if you gave me a half million
dollars to go kick a football, you could give me
five hundred times. I would never do it. Could I
get the ball off the ground, yes, But could I
could get thirty yards? Probably not. Now my son who's
twenty five, who kicked when he was in little league.
You give him some warm.
Speaker 3 (02:05:18):
Ups, he probably could do it.
Speaker 2 (02:05:22):
That's also a lot of pressure though, too. I gotta
ask somebody to ESPN how you do that, because again,
the kid was a soccer style kick. He kicked it
like soccer style, and he had his foot he had
took a shoe off, missed the first one badly, and
then drained the second one. But I'm living for this.
It's like the half court shots during the college basketball game.
Speaker 3 (02:05:42):
Now I love that. This is awesome, So good for them.
Speaker 2 (02:05:45):
For ESPN forgiving me a reason to watch because I
never want to miss those kicks during the pregame show.
Let's talk to Craig at one eleven on Sports Talk
seven ninety Craig, good afternoon to you.
Speaker 12 (02:05:56):
Good after me, Matt. This is the glorious day ever.
I just had my first McRib of the year.
Speaker 2 (02:06:02):
Yes, Lord is now complete. Yep. I couldn't.
Speaker 12 (02:06:06):
As soon as I saw it on the app the
other day, I had to let you know. And so
I was like, I have to have this first thing
Monday morning, and this was my lunch, This will be
my dinner, and this will be my lunch and dinner
for the next week.
Speaker 2 (02:06:18):
I hope, Yeah, I will.
Speaker 12 (02:06:20):
I will run them out of it.
Speaker 2 (02:06:22):
Yeah, you have people. If you have people in your
life like I do, like Ross, who's shame us for
loving to McRib Get them out of your life.
Speaker 12 (02:06:30):
See, he's not one of us. He's not a beautiful
bald man like we are.
Speaker 2 (02:06:33):
You know, correct? Correct?
Speaker 12 (02:06:36):
All that luscious locks that he claims he has. It's
just sickening. But yeah, it's only on the app right
this time. I don't think they're advertising yet. That's why
we need to get the McRib crew out there to
sacrifice themselves and get as many of the PRIs as possible.
Speaker 3 (02:06:51):
So here's what we have to do.
Speaker 2 (02:06:52):
Correct, anybody that goes out for a mccrib today, send
me a photo and send me your location so we
could tell people about it. Correct.
Speaker 12 (02:07:00):
I did, I did. I already tweeted you it's over here.
I got two locations in Cyprus that have it.
Speaker 2 (02:07:05):
All right, Thank you very much, friend, Thank you for
the phone call, and thank you for your service by
the way, for that Pat mccaffee U phthography.
Speaker 26 (02:07:12):
Yeah, he Matt just called a caller and said that
he pays that out of his own pocket.
Speaker 9 (02:07:17):
Nobody else helps him.
Speaker 2 (02:07:19):
Are you serious?
Speaker 26 (02:07:20):
That's what that's that's I don't know to a soon,
but that's when he came. He called a media and
tell me that.
Speaker 2 (02:07:24):
Well, I'll tell you what if McAfee's making I wonder
if McAfee's making like ten to fifteen million dollars a
year and that part of that money goes towards the contest.
Speaker 9 (02:07:34):
Yeah, it can be a text right off.
Speaker 3 (02:07:35):
Probably, huh No.
Speaker 2 (02:07:36):
I think I think he's like, we're I think ESPN
could say to him, we're going to give you fifteen
million and you're gonna give up three of it to
your to this college kicking bit. You know what I mean.
Speaker 9 (02:07:46):
I'll get you, I'll get you.
Speaker 2 (02:07:49):
Well yeah, I mean, look, I love the contest, but
I don't love it enough to give away mailon money
for it. A right, we gotta get a live update
right now, really quickly. Cole Thompson joining us from the
McDonald's across the street. I'm post oak at six'. Ten,

Speaker 2 (02:08:41):
Now oh my, god he would be destroying me over.
This that's okay in McRib we, trust oh. Man i'm
in a good mood.
Speaker 3 (02:08:51):
Down my middle Son peyton is.
Speaker 2 (02:08:55):
Home my son spent less under and twenty five dollars
on his cost at The Renaissance festival and The ribs are.
Back The texans, won The rockets, won The cougars. Won
My cougar basketball team's number one in the. Country what
could possibly go wrong between? Now on The other show
seven one three two one two five seven ninety seven
(02:09:16):
one three two one two five, Seven, nintie we don't
like to make fun of other media and other. Cities
we just have to understand what they're going, through and
we'll tell you about that coming up in just a
couple of. Minutes right, Now alan is with us at
one twenty two one. Seven, alan thank you for wedding
in good.
Speaker 30 (02:09:29):
Afternoon, hey thanks for having me on, Man i'm avid,
listener first time.
Speaker 3 (02:09:36):
Caller thank you very. Much it means a lot To, so, YEAH.
Speaker 30 (02:09:41):
I just want to give a shout out to The wilkins.
FAMILY i, mean that's like that basketball legendary stat is
coming out of the, game you know What i'm. Saying
SO i think we should pay attention a lot to
that Because Lenny wilkins brought a lot to this, game
especially Put cleveland basketball on the, mat BECAUSE i, mean
(02:10:03):
no one even heard Of Cleveland cavalier basketball until my
man got.
Speaker 28 (02:10:07):
There Brought Brad darty and all the.
Speaker 30 (02:10:10):
Boys in the in. There SO i, just you, KNOW
i think we should pay alms To Lenny wilkins a
little more than what people are really mentioned in.
Speaker 2 (02:10:18):
Them, well the reality is, this you, Know lenny's probably
greatest achievement was winning the seventy nine championship with The,
sonics but that was almost almost fifty years. AGO i,
mean he just has been you, know he's late. EIGHTIES i,
mean it's not a, time it's not a talk show,
conversation but if you put on THE nba channels or
you go to various, websites you would find not only
(02:10:39):
his success as a, player but as a coach as,
well and truly one of the nicest people apparently ever
to walk the. Earth so as my Buddy's sophie a
KG r And Seattle radio, says you can't find anybody
In america who said a bad thing About Lenny, wilkins
which is hard because you remember he's coached a lot
of teams and had with a lot of players over the.
Years so, yeah absolutely one of the all time. Greats
(02:11:00):
Can't you really.
Speaker 30 (02:11:02):
Can't BECAUSE i had the chance to meet him WHEN
i was playing baseball at The university Of, washington.
Speaker 27 (02:11:07):
And he is just a class.
Speaker 30 (02:11:09):
Bag that's really ALL i can say about the.
Speaker 2 (02:11:11):
Man will literally, alan thank you for the phone, call
and rest in, peace my. Man that's To Lenny, wilkins
and we'll be talking about him During Believe it Or not,
today as also with The Paul tagliboo who passed away
yesterday after a long. Illness so, uh and we hate
to do THAT I believe it or, not but reality,
is it gives us a chance to kind of honor
(02:11:32):
these guys and we don't normally get to. IT i
don't want to give away too much On tagleboo because
some of the QUESTIONS I believe or not will be
revolving around. Him but you, know he was the one
that kind of had to go. Through he was the
commissioner on record when a nine to eleven. Hit he
was the commissioner that had to try to get they
(02:11:54):
were to take The Super bowl away From phoenix And
arizona if they were not going to Pass. Mlkday so
he was very influential even beyond the. Legislation he also
expanded THE nfl and it was not on his watch
that The texans got their. Franchise so you, know, look
commissioners are never very popular to begin. With WE i understand,
(02:12:16):
that you, know everybody gets. Booed as matter of, FACT
i was In Oklahoma city for The rockets game against
The thunder And Adam, silver the commission of THE nba
was booned when he got. ANNOUNCED i just you, know
it's one of those things that's. Low it's low hanging.
Fruit it's a it's a very rewarding. Job It all
the Commissioners i've been around all my life are very highly.
(02:12:38):
Compensated and then ultimately they also have to bear the
responsibility of being the.
Speaker 3 (02:12:42):
Fall guy for the owners that they work.
Speaker 2 (02:12:44):
For the commissioner works for the, owners and if the
owners want to make one guy a bad guy Like
Roger goodell certainly has, Been paul Taglebo bud, Sealing Rob.
Manford there's a price with. That you want to get
boon in the, arena that's one thing you want to get.
Paid thirty five million dollars a, year you'll probably Want
i'm doing. IT i would do it for thirty five
(02:13:05):
million dollars IF i. Was IF i was Public enemy number,
one and the people that were my, bosses the twenty
nine or thirty or thirty one other owners like WHAT i.
DID i could live with that all. Right the QUESTION
i have on The twitter poll today was about how
are you feeling about The texans performance after the game?
Yesterday and the Poll quairn is out there and it
(02:13:26):
is how happy are you after The texans? Win sixty
eight percent of you say it's a gutsy.
Speaker 3 (02:13:31):
Victory love. It thirty two percent of you said The jags.
Speaker 2 (02:13:34):
Choke no big. Deal jacksonville media is not. Happy we'll
let you hear from them next we believe it or
not coming up in twenty five. Minutes seven to one
three two one two five seven ninety if you want
to jump in seven to one three two one two
five seven. Anty by the, Way texans And titans Play
sunday In nashville and The texans are currently an eight
(02:13:55):
point favorite in that game on the.
Speaker 3 (02:13:57):
Road seven one three two one two five seven.
Speaker 8 (02:14:01):
Ninety sit.
Speaker 2 (02:14:02):
Down you know what remind Me jonathan When ross gets
back to shame.
Speaker 3 (02:14:07):
HIM i got so many nice people sending me.
Speaker 2 (02:14:09):
Tweets messages On instagram and On facebook about they're going
to get their mcgribs today they have shot pictures of. It,
Ross he'll shut yobamass.
Speaker 3 (02:14:20):
Up mCrab Is America. Sandwich you just had.
Speaker 9 (02:14:24):
A whole, community you, know you know.
Speaker 2 (02:14:27):
What the mcgrad community is coming together as one And
i'm here for. It all. Right we're gonna hear from
Jackson omedia in just second here because they are. Pissed
let's go To matthew at one thirty one On The
Matt Thomas show With Ross, Matthew good afternoon to.
Speaker 9 (02:14:42):
You.
Speaker 8 (02:14:44):
Hey can you hear?
Speaker 2 (02:14:44):
Me, yes?
Speaker 24 (02:14:45):
Sir THEY i have a SO i wanted to talk
ABOUT dj shroud is the main. Topic And i'll start by,
SAYING i have a couple thousand dollars in in sports,
cards so maybe there's like a little side deal That i've.
Got why it sets an interest to, ME i don't.
(02:15:06):
Know AND i feel like we're being surface level talking
About jacksonville media and how their reaction is and everything.
Else but there's definitely some issues with The, texans AND
i just LIKE i THINK i look AT i looked
at all OF i didn't watch the. GAME i was
at the skating rink doing my daughter's birthday, yesterday so
BUT i heard AND i saw the game cast and.
Everything AND i think all three touchdowns That Davis mills
(02:15:30):
was a part, of two were, passing one was a.
Rushing they were all in the red, zone, okay and
and prior to this, game we've had major issues in
the red. Zone so and that points the fingers THAT. Cj,
stroud LIKE i guess he's everybody loves, Him LIKE i,
SAID i got The sporting sport card, thing and and
everybody loves. Him every time he gets postgame, interviews he
(02:15:51):
thanks His lord And Savior Jesus, christ and everybody loves
him for. That and obviously the man's got. Talent he's,
good but it's like maybe he's not the, guy and
WHICH i hate.
Speaker 11 (02:16:03):
THAT i don't.
Speaker 24 (02:16:06):
KNOW i just wanted to know what you guys like
honest opinions of that.
Speaker 2 (02:16:10):
One, Well i'm glad you asked for my honest, opinion
and my honest opinion is C. J stroud is ten
times a quarterback Of Davis. Mills Is that's just a.
Reality you're taking a one game sample size against a
very Subpar jacksonville team and putting it up against what
has turned out to be a very NICE nfl career FOR. C.
J stroud is an ELITE nfl. Career, no had there
(02:16:33):
been some bumps along the, road, Absolutely. Matthew but the
reality is is that it wasn't Because Davis mills did
things yesterday that C. J stroud couldn't. Do it was
that there was a quarterback on The texans, sideline regardless
of who it, was could have done the same type of.
Thing jacksonville's defense offense could not move the ball in
the fourth. Quarter Trevor lawrence was terrible and The texans
(02:16:55):
took advantage of. It but to try to compare the two,
QUARTERBACKS i, thought DON'T i think it's a fair, comparison
especially because has such a larger sample size Than Davis
mills has the last three.
Speaker 24 (02:17:07):
Years, true AND i definitely don't want To i'm not comparing.
THAT i wouldn't COMPARE.
Speaker 2 (02:17:13):
Cj To.
Speaker 24 (02:17:14):
Davis but it JUST i, mean if you forced me,
TO i would look At davis mills game yesterday and THEN.
Cj stroud's previous what seven or eight games of this.
Season as far as Like i've noted that as you,
know the red, zone we're all everybody is aware.
Speaker 2 (02:17:31):
Of you, Know, look, uh there's no quarterback to thank
You matthew for the phone. Call there's no controversy. Whatsoever C.
J stroud is the. Quarterback he is the future of this.
Team Davis mills is just a nice. BACKUP i, mean
that's just. Reality the backup quarterback is going to get
a little bit more. Run but if you gave me
(02:17:52):
a fifteen game sample size of C. J stroud versus
a fifteen game sample size Of Davis, Mills i'm going
to tell you that every single time that fifteen games
sample signs of C. J strausing being way more. Effective
i'm JUST i, mean they're REALLY i, MEAN i don't
really know any other way to say. It everybody loves
(02:18:15):
the backup until he becomes a. Starter it's like people
Loved Case keenan When Deshauna watson went, down, WELL i
Mean Deshauna watson until he got.
Speaker 3 (02:18:23):
Hurt was established THE nfl starring.
Speaker 2 (02:18:25):
Quarterback case keenen was a nice, Backup But Case keenhan
was not a regular. Starter So i've Just davis played well.
Yesterday davis is an incredible insurance. Policy, see if this
team is going to do, anything it's a C. J
straud at quarterback long, term Not davis. Smells all, right
(02:18:45):
let's go To jacksonville real quick before we go back
to more of your. Phones this is ten ten radio
guy In jacksonville doing the first ninety seconds of his postgame.
Show after The jaguars give up a three touchdown lead and.
Lost as they were all scored twenty six nothing late
in the game, yesterday it.
Speaker 15 (02:19:06):
Would be very easy for me to come on right
now and just completely flip out about what transpired in us.
Context it would be very. Easy here's What i'm going
to tell, you And i'm going to be, calm And
i'm gonna say it in a manatone or in a
tone of voice WHERE i don't have to completely freak
(02:19:27):
at what. Happened The jaguars were up three touchdowns Against
Davis mills in the fourth quarter of a division game
that would have buried their division rival and would have
put The jaguars in a situation where analytics tell you
they would make the playoffs at a seventy percent clip
(02:19:49):
at six and, three and they lost To Davis mills
by being outscored twenty six to nothing in the fourth,
quarter getting physical whipped on the offensive line and the defensive.
Line i've lived In, Jacksonville, florida the entire existence of The.
Jaguars i've been lucky enough to be on sports radio
(02:20:10):
stations in this market dating back To august of two
thousand and, two AND i was here on opening day
of ten TEN xl In april of two thousand and.
Seven this is not, Hyperbole this is not overstating. This
if you can tell me a more disheartening regular season
loss than what we just saw this, Afternoon i'm all
ears leon BECAUSE i don't think one.
Speaker 2 (02:20:31):
Exists if you think that's, bad Even SMILEY Tv guy
And Jacksonville television went in a. Rain here's. That we'll
take some more calls after, this but just to let
you go little sample, size you think we got a
bat here In, Houston North florida feeling it?
Speaker 16 (02:20:50):
Today twenty nine to ten in the fourth quarter with
The jags leading against The Houston, texans twenty nine to,
ten and your six and three with fifteen minutes to,
go and The texans are three and, six and you
have done what.
Speaker 7 (02:21:07):
You needed to, do what you're.
Speaker 16 (02:21:08):
Supposed to do against a backup, quarterback twenty nine to
ten with fourteen minutes to, go twenty nine to, ten
with thirteen minutes, ago twenty nine to, ten twelve sixteen to.
Go texans get a touchdown in a two point hang
on a, Second jaguars go three and.
Speaker 7 (02:21:23):
Out texans come back and score.
Speaker 16 (02:21:25):
Again jags get another three and, Out texans driving about
ninety seven yards for the game. Winner jags get the ball,
back just get it to the. Fifty Give Cam little a.
Shot can't even do. That what a freaking, Disgrace what a,
Disgrace what an inept performance by A National Football league,
(02:21:46):
Team allegedly they're allegedly A National Football league. Team they
blew a three touchdown lead in the fourth quarter of
AN nfl.
Speaker 7 (02:21:56):
GAME i don't have it in front of.
Speaker 16 (02:21:58):
ME i can't imagine that ever happening before with Our Jacksonville.
Jaguars my mind is blank right now BECAUSE i was
so sure that The jags were going to win this
game and get to six and three and show the world, that,
yes we are a playoff. Team potentially that team that
we just watched against a backup quarterback who threw for
(02:22:20):
two ninety. Two he threw for two ninety, two the backup.
Quarterback they're missing two offensive. Linemen we can't get to the.
Quarterback our starting offensive line Played Daneil.
Speaker 7 (02:22:32):
Hunter at four. Sacks four. Sacks not a very good, Team.
Speaker 2 (02:22:40):
JONATHAN i mentioned this before you AND i. Agree the
best part was that cameraman.
Speaker 26 (02:22:43):
Going, OOH i CAN'T i met oh on live everything he's.
Speaker 2 (02:22:49):
Had those sound. Effects oh, oh let's go TO. H
lewis at seven. Ninety, lewis thank you for holding good.
Air the DUDE.
Speaker 31 (02:23:02):
Mt how are?
Speaker 2 (02:23:02):
You i'm Amazing, lewis thanks for. Asking oh, well that's.
Speaker 32 (02:23:08):
Fantastic, ANYWAY i want to talk to you a little
bit about the. Rockets i'm bored with This texan.
Speaker 12 (02:23:12):
Stuff so a couple of.
Speaker 32 (02:23:14):
Things let me tell you my opinion of, yesterday AND
i want to see what you think since you're sitting right.
Speaker 2 (02:23:24):
There, Okay Reed.
Speaker 32 (02:23:27):
SHEPHERD i think they have possibly found a position for
this guy to basically come, in be a spot, shooter
be a past do on. Defense AND i get, it he's.
Speaker 2 (02:23:42):
Going to get back down a.
Speaker 32 (02:23:44):
Lot BUT i think if he continues to do all
this other stuff and a nice, CLIP i think this
is a guy that is going to be a big
part of our. Success and my other point, is And
i'll Hang i'll let. You i'll. Listen jabbari Smith, man
that was a, huge huge three, yesterday AND i just
(02:24:08):
think That durant is giving them what they were hoping to,
get just a, calm calming influence out there and keeping
everybody from not. Panicking love your show and let me
hang on and.
Speaker 14 (02:24:26):
Listen Thanks, Matt.
Speaker 2 (02:24:27):
Thank you very much for the phone. Call here's the,
reality And i'll make this very instinct Because i'm short on.
Time The rockets are going to win a championship with
multiple people doing the. Job Kevin durant's gonna give you
thirty when he needs, To he's not going to give
you thirty every. Night if you Get jabbari An alpi
(02:24:51):
and a men and a guy Like Red shepherd off the,
bench or It's Tarre easten off the, bench you're talking
about six guys with high ability to get double digit.
Numbers you're gonna make it a defensive nightmare for. Teams
they're not going to shoot forty three percent from three
point range all season. Long that ain't gonna. Happen hopefully
they don't turn the ball over as much as they
(02:25:12):
have done so. Far they turned it over just six
times in the second half. Yesterday but this team can.
Shoot this team puts a Men thompson in that dunker
spot and low block. Scores Kevin durant lives at the.
Elbows If alpi's going to knock down an occasional, three
that adds an extra link part of his game, offensively
(02:25:34):
And jabari same. Thing corner, threes mid range post up.
Moves they're going to score some. Points. Folks defense still
work in. Progress turn the ball over too, much, absolutely
but there's enough stuff here that makes you should be
very excited for what should be a very fun rest
(02:25:55):
of THE nba. Season let's talk To Rockets keith Had, Rockets,
keith good afternoon to.
Speaker 28 (02:26:03):

of the things they asked for YOUR id AND i

a military idea and they get the tickets or whatever
