Speaker 2 (02:17):
Let's go Taxens.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
He's gonna get in the car that sense make his
twelve hour drive to Kansas City. I'm very busy because
those damn airfares. I guess Dark Breast is at seven hundred,
somebody told me. But Shrine is over a grand hmmm,
it's like four connections. Yeah, drive's not that bad. Let's
go through sleet and snow and ice. Yeah, make it
on up there, breezily. Hey, I will say this for

(02:42):
Saturday at three point thirty. Yeah, I mean it is funny.
Sports media watches a website that said Kansas City is
the marquee team of all of them. Yes, unless they
play an opponent, no one cares about it. That sweety. Well,
the reality is Ravens was always going to be marquee. Well,
the reality is you have to play, is that you

(03:04):
wanted to get as many Saturday teams playing on Saturdays,
so for for racing purposes, right, So you're extra So
your decision was between the Lions who were the off
the bye and the Chiefs that were on the buy,
and you had to figure out which of the two
matchups were going to be the more appealing of the
two Monday team is always was always going to play

(03:24):
on Sunday. Money was always going to play on Sunday.
Mm hmm. So you then had to decide between Detroit
versus whoever the lowest seed was going to be, which
Jim Daniels made I mean, my goodness, was he good yesterday?
Yes he was? Or Texans and Chiefs where the Texans
were outstanding. But again, just don't carry any sort of

(03:46):
national cachet. You know, at this point it doesn't matter.
You're down to the matter. You're down to the final eight.
I mean, it is what it is. I mean, somebody's
got to play early. Keep winning, you'll be on prime Time.
Keep winning, you'll be on Sunday at five point thirty. Yeah,
if you win this week, your playing for our championship.
Probably a two o'clock. It's fine in either Baltimore or

(04:07):
in Buffalo. Oh lordy, they're really gonna have to earn
that bad boy go bills less. You're the two evils
you're ready for us? Should I save this for all
the truth? Yes, I'm gonna save it. Okay, I'm gonna
say what I was about to say till twelve thirty. Okay,
that's it's actually too long of a forward tease, because

(04:29):
I would love for all of y'all to say with
me for the all the way, you'll three garrans and
we'll hear you back at twelve thirty. People, I gotta
write them talk right. I want to write this down
because this is is writing down what he's gonna say.
But yes, big at Texans win over the weekend, a
lot of people doubting them. I want to hear, you
know what, I don't hear from people that want to
apologize for doubting the Texans. And I want to hear

(04:50):
from people who have believed in the Houston Texans and
by the one, three, two, five seven and by the way,
by the way, if you don't pick the Texans and life,
it doesn't mean you're anti Houston. I had some JABRONI
come after me and Sean, you you live here, you're
supposed to pick that. No, that's not how it works.
What's his name? I want to this guy's making a

(05:11):
lot of good points. No, he's not. I want to
follow this guy, readtweet him. He's got a lot of followers,
both of which are porn bots, so you know, and
and again shame on me for even interacting. I No,
they don't, man, I told you. He told you twenty
five Matt straight to them. You button. I'm good. I'm
gonna do it now. I'm gonna find this guy. Where
is he? I don't know? Oh m D two. Yeah,

(05:33):
he's got five followers. Okay, so let me read you
his tweet or do you want to read it because
you're taking personal pleasure out of this. I certainly am.
Go ahead. I read the clapback at Rex Ryan right now.
But let's remember to hold Sean unfiltered in sports MT accountable.
Pick the Chargers all week against the city literally work

(05:54):
for against the city they literally work for. He was correct,
I was incorrect. I mean, yeah, I don't work for
the city Houston. I worked for the listeners and sports
fans of Houston. If I put it this way, and
think about this, if you if you've done it down,
if you literally picked Houston in every sporting event, if

(06:15):
you literally picked Chicago because you lived in Chicago. You're
gonna be wrong more than you're right. Well, I mean,
so if I picked the Texans to win seventeen times
this season, I'd have been wrong seven times. Yeah, but
you'd have been right ten. That's eleven. Now, that's pretty good.
It's a good clip. If I'd have picked the Rockets
to win three years ago, eighty two times, I've been

(06:38):
wrong sixty. If I'd have picked them to win date
when Money Mills was quarterback in the Texans, I'd have
been in the fourteen loss. Git, what were those records
back then? Five and eleven, four twelve, Something that wasn't
going great would have been going great the last couple
of years. This show is about us making predictions. It
ain't personal. It's just what the predictions are. And the predictions,
by the way, Had Lost Had the Chargers is a

(07:00):
favorite this entire week, and from what I read and again,
I'm just this is just what I saw on TV
on saturdayays. I had a lot of free time, frankly
because of the cancelation Atlanta. Yes, is that the money
was coming in heavy, heavy, heavy on the Chargers, and
that really really holden me. You know why, because the
money was coming heavy in the chargers and they didn't
move the line. Yeah, so what does that mean, because
I I don't really know. That means the books feel

(07:21):
confident in their line. If their line is moving big
with a bunch of sharp money, they'll move it. They'll
move at half point or a point. But the fact
that all the public money was coming in in the
chargers and it didn't move, that made me even feel
better about my prediction that my Texans would win. Yeah.
So that guy with pornbots loves you and he hates me.
Appreciate it. He does follow me, so I appreciate it
him follow me. That's okay. He's smart guy. By the way,

(07:43):
I'm not gonna if you don't follow me, I'm not
interacting with you ever. Again, I'm not wasting my time.
At least have the Stones have follow me? Then you
follow me, then we'll get him a conversation or a
pleasant debate. But most times you get on Twitter, you
just don't have pleasants following this guy back. You can't.
You can enjoy that he didn't tweet much. I appreciate

(08:05):
him though. He's making a lot of good points on
like on the interwebs, yeah, by the way, really convenient.
Nice Uh Twitter name? What is it again? M D
two A A Part three Mm hmm, well again, shame
on me for debating somebody that even follow me. You
follow me, we'll we'll have a conversation. Oh look, he's
actually issued apology. Did he really? Yeah? Just now what

(08:27):
does it say?

Speaker 8 (08:28):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (08:28):
You're making come back? You're making this up. You're not
even gonna read it to you right now? You know what?
If he is, then I, you know what, as a
grown ass man, I will accept his apology and I
will apologize back. Maybe he doesn't have pornbots. I am
waving the white flag. I was under the influence of
a few Crawford Box Saturday night, and I should have
directed my excitement in a positive manner. Wow, I'm gonna

(08:49):
give him a like M I like. I don't want
to still like his original tweet, Stand your ground MT
two m D two all is forgiven. We're now besties.
Say how easy I am. I'm forgiving forget guy Ross.
You criticized me for a lot of things in my life.
It's time for you. In the next twelve seconds here
before we go to break to tell how people how quickly,

(09:09):
I forget about stuff. Next segment coming up after a
short break. Here, what do you want me to do?

Speaker 9 (09:15):
Just sell?

Speaker 4 (09:15):
How how easy breezy I am when it comes to
you're gonna lie to the people. No, well you mean
the a I mean lie. The Ashurson lies four times now,
Matt holds grudges for years and decades. That's not even
true whom I holding and grudge it and getting with
it and even get me started. Hey, justin Herbert was embarrassed,

(09:37):
and we'll talk more about that when come back. Your
football team embarrassed? Throw up baby? Uh No, we do
not throw up h's on this shows ridiculous. I'm a gobuta.
Throw up some w's. That's what you throw up. They
did throw up? You throw up at big w uh
huh seven one three two one two five seven. Hoety,

(09:59):
Your squad took a quarterback who was throwing three interceptions
the entire regular season, yes, in through four to one game.
Well one was off the hands of Will Disley. By
the way, Charger receivers did him zero favors. Correct. Well,
Ladd mcconconque find Saturday afternoon, right down the middle of
the field, it's in any five of your touchdown, all

(10:19):
the Chargers are back, Oh the black of the kicks,
and then they come back to Maconky. Sorry, iron stereotype.
Ireland thinks you're racist. Seven one three, two one two
five seven AUTI it's a Matt Thomaschilross.

Speaker 10 (10:33):
Get into it right now and let's celebrate, celebrate, celebrate.
You know what I want today is that three dog night.
I don't want any corny generic bumps from you today.
Conned Day, Oh hey, I want seliment. He made a
lot of good points when we don't go generic.

Speaker 4 (10:47):
We spend four minutes talking about the song, and he's
boring a memory about watching I saw Donny Marie on
on Soul Training. I will not come in at any
of the music we played. No, I swear all the
way to two o'clock. Okay, all right, Sports Talk seven
nineywhere I got to talk to you about this over
this weekend. I'm going to tell you I was having
a lot of fun. I made some picks. I'll make
some more coming up later on the show. Talking about

(11:09):
Draft Kings pick six, I mean some on the Buccaneers
game they didn't go so well. We don't have to
talk about that. But if you haven't gone onto DraftKings
pick six, what are you waiting for? You got to
get on it. NFL playoffs are here. Time is running out.
The official daily Fantasy sports partner of the NFL is
DraftKings Pick six. They do it like no one else.
You play for better payouts on pick six. Very easy

(11:30):
to get started. Two or more players choose if they're
going to have more or less of a stat touchdown, yardage, sacks,
and more. Pick six is available and legal here in Texas.
Draftking even sweeter for you first timers. How about just
putting down five dollars for new pick six customers and
getting fifty dollars in pick six credit win more cash
on pick six by downloading the DraftKings app DraftKings Pick

(11:53):

Speaker 1 (12:25):
This is the Matt Thomas Show with Ross on four
Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 11 (12:34):
Obviously, you know you get with als high noise, and
it just is what it is. Everybody got an opinion about,
you know, a team, but when it come down to it,
bro like, when they come down to it, when you
get to the white lines, you know, for sixty minutes
or more, you know, like I say, it's a playoffs,
No stat matter. The only thing that matter is then win.
You gotta go out there and pitch o bet and tape.

(12:54):
And we displayed at a day.

Speaker 4 (13:00):
Mixing putting that blank on tape today.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
Over one hundred yards.

Speaker 4 (13:08):
By the way, we need to clip that, Joe Mixon,
just that part, put that blank on tape today. You
don't like it? Sure you squinched your nose. You obviously
did like it. So I'm sorry. Bad idea, Connor, it
was a bad idea to stop. Do whatever you want, Matt. Geez.

(13:28):
I just think production value to a show is important.
I agree, and I think that would be a funny
little clip to play. Just do it. No, we'll say
twenty five carries, one hundred and six yards for Joe
Mixon and a touchdown. The touchdown that was clenched the game. Yeah,
it was the gravy. It was the brown gravy on
top of your chicken fried steak. Cream gravy on chicken

(13:51):
fried steak. I agree, but you can go brown as well.
I just want to do it to irritate you. It's
all about the cream, Matt Cash rolls everything around. You've
been saying that for a long time. Cream get the money,
dollar dollar bills, y'all. So what does brown get you?
What can it do for you? Be inferior to cream gravy?
Give you the runs? All right? Back to football talk? Yeah,

(14:12):
Joe mix an outstanding again. I think we should clip it,
absolutely so. So I want you to clip it today sometime, Connor,
and then I want you to say organically thrown in
the show somewhere and see it fits.

Speaker 11 (14:25):
We displayed at the day.

Speaker 4 (14:26):
I don't even know what he's saying. I missed the quote.
It matter. It just sounded good. I just like a bleep. Yeah, okay,
so one of my good friends in my life. Ed
has been lifelong friends school since we were in the
sixth grade. Is a large Chargers fan, and I have
not reached out to him. I didn't send a text
Sorr if you're lost, because I actually like him. We

(14:47):
did talk at half and he was basically popping pills
and drinking large amounts of alcoholic beverages because he was
so sad. That wasn't the Charger team that we had
talked about all week going in. That wasn't a Charger
team the team that came in to play the last
four weeks. And I would say, probably if you were
to break get a pie out and say, all right,
what percentage? Watch the Texans defense was. Will Anderson was

(15:10):
absolutely amazing. So I would say probably seventy five percent
of what we saw on him was because the Texans
put together this defensive game plan and were just outstanding.
Stingley was great, well, Anderson was great. The Neil Hunter
was great. I mean, there were so many Alzisha sorry
after he got hurd, came back all over the place.

(15:31):
But the Texans and gotta be fair about this, That's
what we wanted to do. We gotta be fair. The
Texans also caught Justin Herbert on one of his worst
days ever. He was constantly overthrowing intermediate receiver passes to
his running backs in his tight end, and if for
Murconcky there was nothing else going on for them, he was.

(15:51):
He was terrible and credited Texans for making a guy
who was having a really good season looked terrible. Yeah,
I think maybe Justin Herbert had a better day, but
a lot of that was the Texans putting him into
off days and getting into I mean, and having the
talent out there Kamario Lass making plays and They're Shirley
making plays, and the lot it was at all three levels,

(16:11):
the Texans were winning in that defense. And then I mean,
we kind of talked about it on Friday about how
they they basically had a bye week against the Titans
for some of the people, some players did have a
bunch of snaps, but a lot of players, a lot
of the starters were able to rest and get ready
to go. And you're at home in a loud, noisy environment,

(16:31):
and this defense obviously has a lot better time, has
a lot easier time at home than they do on
the road, and they they harassed Justin Herbert and did
a great job starting with stopping the run. And we
talked about it and all we like, you know, all
these run, these running backs and Justin Herbert and this
offensive line of the Chargers. Texans, I mean just flat

(16:51):
out destroyed them. Six points in the first quarter, three
of those off the turnover, off the very first off
the rip. You had to be if you were a
Charger fan, you had wigging out that all you got
out of the first two possessions were six points. Yeah,
especially one was completely gifted to you with the John
Matchi fumble on the I mean that was at that
point I was like, oh my god, is this just
gonna keep rolling into a Texans disaster. They stabilized. Credit

(17:14):
to the to the defense for holding to a field goal.
There CJ Stroud. While he wasn't perfect the entire evening,
I thought he made a more than a handful of
special plays, including with his feet. And this was Texans
football that we wanted to see from the outset. That is,
this is there a second twenty point win of the year.
The only other one was against the Patriots. So this

(17:36):
is We've been waiting and waiting and waiting for them
to play their best football. We saw their best football
on Saturday. It was beyond impressive, especially because they were
able to withstand what was a very awkward start of
the football game. Yeah. Another twenty point one was the Cowboys.
I forgot that one, but you could get my point.

Speaker 12 (17:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (17:54):
Yeah, nothing more than you can say than than just
a really dominant performance against a team. I mean, Jim Harbaugh,
you know they would, they would show camera. He was like,
this is not the team I'm watching. I can't believe
my defense is getting so tired. And how about the
ball that done, the bad snap that Strode takes, the scrambledles, right,

(18:16):
he's forty five in the year, was it Hudgerson went
to catch on that one? Yes, he was wide over.
I mean my god, that was your's. Good defensive teams
turn that into either an interception of bare minimum or
they wound up sacking the quarterback forcing the fumble. And
it turns they were The Chargers were shell shocked. They

(18:37):
had the number one scoring defense in football, So that
was a good defense. It's the credit to Street J.
Stroud for keeping his composure, keeping his eyes downfield, finding
Xavier Hutchinson, making the throw in Hutchinson making the catch,
and that's really when it kind of felt like a
switch flip. That's when things really started to turn. And
it's like man CJ. Stroud looks so much more confident.
He was stepping into his throats even under pressure. There

(18:57):
was too many times this year where he he wasn't
he was either seeing ghosts in the pocket or are
not setting his feet because he felt like he had
the rush things. He wasn't rushing things. He used his feet.
That's the best I've seen him move in weeks. The
only lineman I thought really struggle as Titus Howard and
the CBS folks made a point of that multiple cases,

(19:19):
but generally speak, the offensive line did its part. Yeah,
they didn't pick up that stunt when Khali Matck came in.
That was bad on Titus Howard or Lerman Tunts or whoever.
But for the most part, they did their job. Yeah,
this is this is the way it was supposed to go.
If talking about preseason or way we thought what this
team is capable of. Yeah, let's go the phones. Talk
to Eddie and Katie on seven hint at ten to

(19:40):
twenty six. Eddie, thank you for holding good morning to you.
Wayit rossly put him on. Hi Eddie, are doing good?

Speaker 9 (19:50):
So quick question?

Speaker 3 (19:52):
Y'all brought it up in the last segment, and it's
kind of new to me. I've been a Texans fan
basically since the inception.

Speaker 9 (19:59):
And I haven't I do a game in a while.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
I was in the game on Saturday and there's just
this like overdoing of throw the h is up and
a few new chants of like Texans swarm or Texans Hold.
They still kind of have the old classic first down
things they do, but now instead of saying another Houston

(20:21):
first down, it's another h Town first down. When did
all that change? Because I was kind of like just
caught off guard when I was at the game. When
did this whole throw up the h things start?

Speaker 4 (20:31):
Well, it depends on who you ask. It could be.
It could be from the hip hop community. It could
be from people that just represent the city Houston. Cal
does it a lot. It's frankly awkward to me, but
I don't. I don't do it, but I'm not going
to judge those that do it. Man, maybe I judge
a little bit, but I'm.

Speaker 3 (20:48):
Basically just like the metal symbol.

Speaker 9 (20:50):
But you turn your hand around.

Speaker 4 (20:53):
Yeah, up the horns. But I mean, I don't know
what h do people in Dallas throw the D Maybe
they're doing something with the D.

Speaker 13 (21:04):
I don't know if to throw it up.

Speaker 4 (21:05):
Yeah, if you're from Dallas, are you throwing up your D?
Just asking for a friend, That's all I got.

Speaker 3 (21:14):
I was curious because, like I said, I've have been
to a game in a while and they just kind
of really really put that on it.

Speaker 4 (21:21):
Everything every it's a little much, but thank you for
the fun. But it's just like I mean, I'll be
honest with you, Rossy, we have a state of hand
signs for our college teams. Most teams in the country
don't have hand signs. When I went to Minnesota I
was living there, I was like, what do y'all do
for the Gophers put hands on? Like what are you
talking about? Hand signs? The same thing in Utah when
I was doing Utah gas, Like what are you talking about?

(21:43):
I said, well, TC, Whu's got one, Baylor's got one,
Houston's got one, A and M's got one. Texas has one.
They're like, hand sign what do you need hand signs for?
So maybe maybe what just a handsy state yeah, I
don't know. I think I think the first was the
Aggies with their thumb up and that it's cool. I guess, yeah,

(22:05):
you know, so maybe we're just we just need to
represent our hands more so that's what they throwing the
h is up. Yeah, I would say it's definitely got
more popular in the last ten years. It's been something
for a while. Oh yeah, probably. Yeah, it's what the
hip hop community matter. Yeah, I'm not. I'm not an age.
I mean, I love Houston. Matter of fact, I spend

(22:27):
more time defending us than that I want to ever do.
I was a dinner with a friend last night that's
not living here, that doesn't live here, and he's like,
so explain this to me. I'm like, relax, okay, we're
just we're just a little bit different. We are. He's like,
y'all don't ever show up on time for sporting events.
I said, yeah, I know. Well they're relative to other markets,

(22:48):
there is oftentimes a lack of sports passion. Yeah, but
if you're listening now, you're passionate about sports. We appreciate it. And
that's what I'm worried about. I'm worried about the passion
for sports fans. I don't care about what they do
in the d if a thurther d up or not? Hmm.
You don't throw an a up in Austin, do you?

Speaker 8 (23:03):
No?

Speaker 4 (23:03):
It's hook of morns. People in the Philadelphia throw up
their pea. Believe started with shadow puppetry? Is that right
in Philadelphia?

Speaker 14 (23:12):
Did they?

Speaker 4 (23:12):
Did they move? They throw up their pe ten thirty
Sports Talk seven just asking disappointing. I'm just I'm just yeah,
I don't. I don't disappointing. I'm not worried about the age.
W're about the H teams? How about that? Is that better?
How McNair's throwing up the H That's all you need
to know. Did he get slimmed on the TV broadcast?

(23:35):
Or was that?

Speaker 15 (23:35):
Was that?

Speaker 4 (23:36):
I know Joe Mixon did on the Nickelodeon broadcast. Did
you watch any of it? I didn't watch one because I
was on the plane flying back from Atlanta for the
first quarter, and then I got in the car, listened
to the second quarter, and then watched the second half,
and I didn't I didn't even forgot it was on
Nickelodeon until that stuff was showing up. I mean, I
wonder what the ratings were for that did a bunch
of kids go?

Speaker 9 (23:56):
Man?

Speaker 4 (23:56):
SpongeBob is doing color commentary this. I mean, I don't
know what the what the Austin Benefit Analysis says on that,
try to ches it cost him to put on? Put
that on and then how much does it help them?
You're trying to get kids in the NFL. I guess
was it trying to get creation? They're trying to get
them at a young age for sure. Ten thirty one
Sports Talk seven ninety seven, one, three two, five, seven Ninetie.
If you're not throwing up the HS but still on

(24:17):
talking about the H, we'll do it here at Sports
Talk seven ninety Yeah. I was getting my ds mixed up.

Speaker 1 (24:23):
That is on three two back to battle Red Ross
and Liberty White Ass Matt Thomas.

Speaker 4 (24:31):
What what is?

Speaker 12 (24:32):
What?

Speaker 9 (24:33):
I am?

Speaker 1 (24:34):
Real Pale Texas Talk continues on the Matt Thomas Show.

Speaker 16 (24:39):
What in my see doesn't matter what you talk about
all week, It doesn't matter what you said or who's
supposed to be who.

Speaker 9 (24:49):
You gotta go out there and put it on tape.

Speaker 16 (24:50):
So if there's a bad play guy willing, you get
another chance to make a good one. So I think
that's what we just did, just took it literally one
play at a time.

Speaker 9 (24:57):
And I mean you look up by the scoreboard, wing
the games all and you win.

Speaker 3 (25:00):
The name Idle care the way, because.

Speaker 4 (25:08):
So I put a Paul question up and it was
very early. It was like literally after we found out
that the Chiefs we were going to be the Texas opponent.
By the way that Pittsburgh Baltimore game wolf Yeah, Denver, Well,
we kind of got excited for like five minutes when
Denver scored on their opening possession and then that game

(25:30):
turned to a wolf man. It's so funny. We are
so prisoner of the moment. And it's even worse with
social media, Like after that touchdown, they're like draft people
I follow and like, uh, fantasy people of NFL, people
like see Bonex. I told you all, guys, Bonex is
the truth. And then he was horrible the rest of

(25:52):
the game and they didn't score again the first quarter.
And I think, like Mike Florio does this all the time,
like trying to dunk on stuff in the first quarter,
Like how stupid and short sighted can you be? Things
can change, things can turn, and they did in a
big way, and the Bills dominated that game thirty one
to two seven. Yeah, yeah, it was bad, all right.

(26:14):
So the pole question is, think about what you thought
about the Texans postseason before they embarrassed the Chargers. So
what was what was your mentality about the about the Texans.
My mentality was they were gonna beat the Chargers and
they they're they're gonna win with their defense if they're
gonna win games. Okay, So you had them beating the Chargers, yes,
they were gonna probably play the Chiefs. Yes, And then
you had thought before the Priests, before the postseason start,

(26:37):
what was gonna happen with Texans and Chiefs. I figured
they would lose to the Chiefs, Okay, And I don't know.
I don't know if you've changed your opinions at this point.
I still feel like they're gonna lose. Now after the
game and with Casey next week, how you're feeling. I
have five hundred and thirty five votes. You got four hours,
four and a half hours left to vote on this
if you want to. Okay, it's fifty to fifty down
the middle. Usually anything texts and anything Houston Sports willater

(27:01):
probably leans seventy thirty to the positive side. I was
gonna say negative for depending you know what, man, I'm saying,
who do you like? Okay, So while there is excitement,
and there should be because you beat the Chargers are good.
You beat a good football team. They weren't fluky getting
in the playoffs, and it wasn't a fluky game log card,

(27:23):
it wasn't a fluky game either over the weekend. Like
you beat them down, you u beat them in all
three phases. Absolutely so right now the poll has it
at fifty to fifty, and it's been fifty to fifty
just about the entire way you think. I don't think
seventy percent of people would think that they're going to
beat the Chiefs. But I'm saying and typical usually you
put something up. If I would have put Astros Nationals,

(27:45):
seventy percent would have said all the Astros are going
to beat the Nationals. Yeah, but the Chiefs are a
much better football team than the Texans. That's different to me.
The texaball fame been fake. This is very First of all,
this is very unscientific. Second of all, really homerrific. If
you lean towards that direction, I'd say fifty to fifty
is homerrific. Result there's they're eight. They opened eight and
a half point dogs. Now it has dropped a little bit, right,

(28:06):
I see anywhere between seven and a half and eight.
Said I wish they had legal betting. I would, as
I already said, I mean via text to people like
eight and a half. I'm on Texans all day. Seven
and a half feels a little right now. It's uh
it opened at uh seven and a half, and right
now is the ESPN bet is seven and a half

(28:28):
and you have to lay one fifteen so slightly that's
basically close to an eight. I would still at this moment,
I mean, we'll think about it as the week goes along.
I would still take the Texans plus seven and a half.
They went there a few weeks ago and they were
three and a half point dogs. Yeah, over under is
forty one and a half. And if you were to go,
if you were to go to a sports book legally

(28:50):
of course, and bet the Texans to straight up win
the game, not even with points what they call money
line win, you get almost three and a half year,
one year ti erar one one dollar. Yeah, that's a
stay away for me. Now. Could firstly, if you think
the Chiefs this is shows how things are weird. If
you think the Chiefs are going to win but can't

(29:11):
cover the seven half, so they win twenty three to
twenty two. Money line them, you want to money line them.
It's a minus four to fifty. You got to spend
four to fifty to win one hundred. Yeah, that's called
big obvious. That's where the books win. So the real
number is in between. So it's about four to one.
So that gives a Texans about a twenty percent chance.
Four to one is twenty percent. Yeah, and I'm not

(29:34):
a super big percentage guy. But if you said the
Texans play the Chiefs ten times in Kansas City, could
they win two times?

Speaker 9 (29:41):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (29:42):
Absolutely they could, right, Could one of them be Saturday
at three thirty. That's what you're opening, that's what you're
hoping for. Real faster go the phones. So I went
look at the airfare. As I told you, Schmine's over
about nine hundred thousand, Dark Breast nine hundred or thousand
for the round trip. Dark Breast is looking at about

(30:04):
seven hundred. But that was asking about five o'clock yesterday,
so maybe anything's bought up there. It's a twelve hour drive,
it's not ten and a half. You go fast, it's
not eleven. If you catch up, it's twelve hours. Yeah. Now,
from what I understand, the seat the ticket brokers there
may not be as much. I think there's maybe a

(30:26):
little bit of we've been there, done this. There's also
probably some weather issues. It's going to be in the
twenties for the game. I'm good you might be able
to get in the stadium At Arrowhead. A lot of
their fans are still recovering from the frostbite they got
like last year. And I you know, remember I went
to Airhead for the first time this year and a
grande was for U H. Kansas. I went for a
Chiefs game. They're in a bad seat in the house. Okay, really,

(30:48):
so even if you're away in the upper deck, you're
not there's no obstruction. It's a it's a clear view
of the facility of everything on the field. You're not
having to look around somebody. I mean, it's I mean,
it's a it's a typical nineteen seventy five Builts football
or whatever it was football team that just got enormous
amounts of seats. I imagine it's not going to be
flush with Texans fans. Yeah, so let's let's say we

(31:11):
did this on the cheap. Let's say we got tickets
at about one hundred and twenty five of posits. Is
that how much they're going for. I'm just throwing that out. Okay,
I'll go find that. Want me to find the get
in price. Yeah, let's take a phone call before you
do that. Let's talk to and we'll so we can
figure this out and see what we would afford it
would be to cost us to get there quickly. By
the way, get in at the at the championship. As
of Friday, when I was looking two thousand at the

(31:32):
College Football champions you are twenty two hundred. Get in Now,
that'd have been the same if Texas was there thinking
about it. Oh my god, Hi Pete, Nowvin, you're on
seven ninety. Good morning to.

Speaker 17 (31:41):
You, Hey, tell let's how you're doing good. I grew
up in Dallas, not a Cowboys fan, since I gave
up homes when Jimmy Johnson left and the way he
was treated. I just had enough of it and start
rooting for the Texans when they opened up in two
thousand and two. I think I know where the ahe
town thing came from. It was uh according to people

(32:01):
in Dallas, it was the officials in Austin, the government
naming the two biggest towns in Texas, Big D and
H Town. And then I think the owner of the
owner's husband and wife of the Texans this past of
isn't use it for marketing with their new alternate uniforms.
That's that's what I got the story from.

Speaker 4 (32:24):
Yeah, I I you know it. Everybody's got their own story,
but or thank you for the phone call. Everybody's gonna
have their story where it originated to me. The first
person I ever saw throw the h's up was my
friend Bun. Bun b yes. And then after that, like
if Bun, let me tell you something. Bun is the
epitome of cool. So anything Bun does, I ain't complaining

(32:45):
about that, But I don't mean other folks doing it.
It's just getting appropriated by the by the mcnairs. That
looks corny. Yeah, I'm a big You should just throw
your fists up, like whenever you get take a picture
with a boxer, be like, you know, like Ringo Star,
the grass drummer of all time, puts up, puts up,

(33:06):
Peace and love signs all the time. Be like me
doing it all the time. Matt, You're not Ringo Star.
You're not the grass drummer of all time, Oh dear,
He's not anywhere close to the greatest drummer of all
time in your mind. Point being, some people have sand
signs that are their So I'm doing this to irritate you.
There are some people that have signs. You just let
them have them, bun be if you're listening what you

(33:27):
do sometimes and for that, I love you for that. Yeah,
the anxious is you. Everybody else looks corny. Okay, that's
all I got. Thank you, Matt, Thank you.

Speaker 9 (33:39):
All right.

Speaker 4 (33:40):
So we're gonna arbiter of all things cool Matt Thomas Weekdays.
Send it to Matt Thomas trol Ross.

Speaker 8 (33:46):
All right.

Speaker 4 (33:47):
So we're gonna figure out how much is gonna cost
for anybody to go to Kansas City. Okay, can you
do Kansas City. I'm the cheap We'll have the tails
on this next. Plus, we're gonna continue to hear from
sound come up to eleven thirty. Demiko is gonna speak
to the media. We'll have that for the news at noon.
We have to tell the truth at twelve thirty and
believe it or not at one fifty. So a busy
show today. We want you guys involved at seven one
three two one two five seven ninety seven one three

(34:09):
two one two five seven ninety right now. Want to
tell you about the folks at the Shell Federal Credit Union.
These are wonderful people that have said, Matt, please tell
them what your experience was like, and it was outstanding
when I got an auto loan from Shell FCU and
you can get it two five simply going to shell
FCU dot org. That shell FCU dot org where right
now auto loan rates are as low as three point

(34:31):
nine to nine percent on a thirty six month note.
You can also get a couple of skip it pays
a year. You'll get twitter to fifty dollars in cash
back and deferred payments. Is certainly an option all on
a new vehicle, a pre owned vehicle, or you want
to refinance a vehicle that you're currently in. Do me
a favor. Just go to shell FCU dot org and
get the process started. Shell FCU dot org for the

(34:53):
Shell Federal Current Union for a new, used or refinance
of a vehicle that you're currently driving. Get that auto
today from the shell Federal Credit Union Shell up, see
you dot org.

Speaker 1 (35:04):
Mattic Ross return returned on Sports Talk seven.

Speaker 18 (35:12):
Early in the game, and like they way through the game,
you know, we had some plays, you know that broke down,
but the fly as the game started getting along, you know,
those guys start getting tired and we were just getting started.
So you know, in the fourth quarter we was able
to control the game by running the ball.

Speaker 4 (35:24):
They couldn't stop us.

Speaker 9 (35:26):
They couldn't stop us up front, they couldn't stop Joe.

Speaker 18 (35:28):
So I mean we can lean out there for the
rest of the playoffs because we know CJ is gonna come,
you know, ready to play every game. And him and
Nico's the play he made a hutch. You know, it's fantastic,
So we can build all.

Speaker 4 (35:38):
That an excuse for Connor to play. It works out well,
all right. I stuf about that. You can't talk about
it anymore. JT got the hits. I mean, Tyus, I'm
just glad you're able to visit the media after you're

(35:59):
really frankly, your worst game is on the offensive line.
But everything else worked, all right. Did Larmie get any penalty?
I don't think Laramie got any. He did give up
a sack to Khalil Mack.

Speaker 9 (36:09):
But you know, I sometimes.

Speaker 4 (36:11):
Khalil Mack greater than the person in front of him,
you know what I mean. That's what it was, all right.
So I went and I went to the maps app.
It's eleven hours I think I said twelve. It's eleven
hours to stop for gas to Kansas City. So, yeah,
you gotta stop, you gotta eat, you gotta hit the
buckets in Madisonville, hockey loves in Oklahoma. So you're looking
at probably eat gas twelve and a half hours. Yeah,

(36:34):
twelve and a half hours, A couple of rounds of
blackjacket the men's mar oo up there on north of
the state border. Oh my gosh. Yeah, okay, let's let's
let's be consistent. Focus. Let's go thirteen hours, two hours
of bathroom gas in food. Yes, okay, I'm gonna put

(36:57):
you at a hotel, probably in Kansas City country club area,
with a lot of shops, at a restaurants, not necessarily
a five of the slums. I'll go what is the
palace and equivalent, I'll go stay there. Well, there's a
there are there is a Rwy in right next to
Arrowhead Stadium. I think it's a ry in. You evidence droke.

(37:21):
That was stroke ruy In, bruy In. He's slurring his word.
We have a rowery in down the street from our
office here. I know what you're doing. Okay, So what's
what's the gas on that? So many times you fill up? Okay?
So I can go four hundred miles for thirty five
dollars in my car? What if you get a messle

(37:43):
I need to just recharge? Oh that you're gonna then
you're gonna add multiple hours of your trip, you know.
So you're damn if you do, Dan if you don't. So,
what's the gas gonna cost us for the whole trip?

Speaker 8 (37:52):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (37:52):
One hundred and fifty. Well, a brown trip round trip's
do three hundred dollars. I don't know a total. Guess
three dollars in gas. Uh, hotel will put it two
nights at one twenty five. Okay, that's attack. So it's
another two fitts five point fifty. You gotta eat, Yeah,
you gotta buy. And we have a free breakfast at

(38:13):
the brewery. Free breakfast at brewery. That's good. Lunches at
a fast food. Dinner is at a casual like a
like a Release or a rash Burger. No, no, that's
fast food. It's fast casual, like if you're going to
Booby Roose Days. Oh Jesus, I hate this rhyming too late,

(38:36):
stuck his head. No, you go to Kansas City. You
want to get some ReBs or something. Okay, you gonna
have one good canvas city meal. Yeah, I mean even
if you want to do it on the cheap rossy,
you're still looking at a bout and I'll buy the
way you Now you have the ticket price get in
price is one four literally the back row of the
top section. If you want sweet, tickets are gonna cost

(38:57):
you about thirteen hundred. That's that's what the heat. Now,
Taylor's gonna be one of those sweets, so you may
get a chance to get a glimpse of her. Taylor. Oh,
not Taylor. You are Taylor. Don't say hour she's our.
Taylor's not mine, she is ours. I'm not affiliated with
her anyway. You know, bottom level of the end zone
you can get for three fifty, let's say two of
those seven hundred bucks. You're still looking at five, seven, twelve,

(39:22):
fourteen probably plus parking. Playoff parking is gonna be expensive.
You're looking at Oh, no, you take an uber because
you're getting smashed hammered at the game, but the ubers
are gonna run expensive at the sporting events? Are you looking?
Can you do it on the relative cheap for about
two grand? Probably that's minimum. So the question is would

(39:47):
you spend two grand in thirteen hours each direction?

Speaker 9 (39:51):
No?

Speaker 4 (39:55):
You could. You could leave Friday. You could like knock
off work early Friday. Listen to us. You leave work
at noon, You'll be there about one am, take a nap,
take turns driving with somebody show up, but you have
to still at a room. Yeah. Yeah, I was gonna say,
if you're gonna leave, you might as well get to
the You might as well leave it and take a
whole Friday off. Get up there and at least get

(40:16):
a good night's rest, come back Sunday. Yeah. It's a lot, dude,
It's I mean, I know somebody will do it. Yeah,
I'm sure there are some rich Texans fans that will say,
you know what, I will fly Melta if I have
to go through Atlanta. Melta through Atlanta. By the way,
I was Atlanta on Friday. They canceled over a thousand flights.

(40:37):
If weather hits bad in Atlanta, Georgia and you're flying Melta,
good luck twenty four degrees supposed to be at this
moment Saturday. I'm good. I think what you do is
you go home, you turn your heater on, maybe cold
here too, and you go to the grocery store and

(40:58):
you go spend fifty bucks on cold bever just in food,
and call to Day and get your big AGD screen
out and watch them that way, and get some little
smokies and some barbecue sauce, toss them in the crack
pot and have yourself some cards. Yeah, okay, play a
little spades. You know the kids are playing spades now,
the kids have been playing spades for decades. Yeah, but
I mean I didn't realize. My seventeen year old was, Oh,

(41:18):
can I give you a quick spades conversation? Very fast?
This is a woman I swore to get back to
the Sorry Connor. When we played in college, Yes, we
would go around. We play for you know, you played
on opposite teams. Let's say you and I were on
a team. Okay. I would look at my cards and
I would say, Ross, I've got three and a possible. Yeah,

(41:39):
And the next person would say and You'd say, well
I have two and a possible and I said, we'll
be six. Then mm hmm. Carly, my seventeen year old, says,
what is this possible? Bellow me m I've heard of possible,
but it's not And not everybody plays like that, okay.
And I was like, I know people have played spades,

(41:59):
but four and said possibles. She just like, Dad, that's cheating.
I'm like, it's not cheating, it's what I you. You
ask how many bids? How many you forget? And you
say I had three and impossible, and then you pull
a rash you go three and as you go three
in impossible possible. You know what I mean? You always
forget you But she was just she was she was

(42:22):
bortline mad at me for doing that. I said, but
I'm playing with your mother. We need some help here.
I guess Kims does a lot of great things. Playing
cards is not one of her suits. I'm a good
spades player. Oh are you spades ace at Thomas the
Ace of Spades. So if y'all want to come to
nickname for you now? So Saturday, we won't. You can't

(42:42):
come to the house. I'll be in Portland. But next
week in a home hall, we come to the house.
Will I'm out of practice. In high school, I was
probably decent, but I haven't played spades regularly. We're playing
spades all the time now. Yeah, so there is I
just want to make sure that the possible thing was
the magic didn't make up because I was taught way
you could say, you could say three and a possible three.
I've heard of it, but it's not calm. It's not

(43:03):
something i've heard. Okay, all right, there's your car talk
for the day.

Speaker 9 (43:06):
A lot.

Speaker 4 (43:07):
We've given you car talk. We've figured out how much
it's gonna cost you go to Kansas City. We got
another one for you. Yeah, you have to call UNO
when you have one, and when you win, not when
you win, just when you have one. Okay, but man,
we'll fight you. But man, I will pounce on you
if you don't say UNO at one. I will yell
you get no saving, make you do it for the win,
and they get mad and they say you didn't win. Really, yeah,

(43:28):
I had not heard that. That's what I'm saying, Matt.
You gotta go getta let the gotta let lay the
house rules down before the game because fights will break out. Okay,
you come to my house, you can you have to
say you can say possible when you're playing spades, and
you don't have to say uno twice. And by the way,
we will also be throwing dice in a back corner
seven one three and something or second do all that
stuff and unlimited loans from the bank and monopoly. There

(43:50):
you go. Seven one three, two, one two five seven
ninety seven one three two one two five seven nine zero.
We have got more on the Texans really announced standing
super impressive performance. Can it translate to Saturday in Kansas City?
I mean, the optimist India says it hopefully has that
the real Texans showed up, because that was the real Texans.

(44:12):
That was the most dominant performance they had even over
the Buffalo game earlier this year, even though the games
against Dallas and New England were blowouts. That was domination.
More on that. Plus we're gonna figure out what the
hell happened with Ross's longhorns in that goal line offense
eleven o'clock on Sports Talk seven eighty.

Speaker 1 (44:31):
Launchtimers. This is The Matt Thomas Show.

Speaker 4 (44:35):
You'll hear from Dimiko Ryans coming up in one half hour.
Here The Matt Thomas Show with Ross. He will be
speaking the media. His Texans George Texans American sections will
be playing a game at three point thirty on Saturday
against Kansas City. Are you ready to spend two g's
going or just want to sit back? I'm good, all right,
I'm good. I got I got responsibilities here. I only

(44:57):
got premium and rockets on Saturday's in a late start,
so that's true. I gotta get pregame. I mean, I
gotta keep an eye on my lemon tree. It's the colds.
Really we're gonna take That's what I'm saying. Matt got
to wrap her up and water her properly. Eleven o
three seven one three two one two five seven ninety

(45:19):
seven to one three two one two five seven nine
to zero. I don't much more more. Look, the game
was a couple of days ago. We've all had a
chance to digest a little bit, and we have a
You have a form here on this show. You can
do that, and the other shows in town don't care
about talking to you.

Speaker 19 (45:34):
We do.

Speaker 4 (45:34):
We like to talk to you. I'm still riding high, Matt.
You should be battle at Ross feeling good. I mean,
it wasn't the worst thing to think the Technans could
win the game, because the Chargers don't have this distinct
playoff history. I mean, what's his face, Herbert only been
in one playoff game, So it wasn't like you're going

(45:56):
to battle tested team like obviously you've got with Kansas City.
But the Chargers just didn't show up. I mean, well,
they were up six nothing until win the middle of
the second. Yeah, and then the defense was out there
a long time, started to and CJ made some throws
at the ninety nine yard drive that was really put

(46:16):
them up seven. I think the Hutchinson catch was the
one that was just like, this isn't our day. That's
when it felt like, yeah, a switch was flipping. That's
when they That was the drive they went up seven
to six. And how many times it will Anderson's name
get brought up in the first half alone in that game.
I mean, he was done. He was the saving grace
of the squad. I also think it's probably a bad
idea to let him go through completely unblocked Chargers and

(46:39):
then I'm Okay, I'm excited. And then of all people
to get to pick six Eric Murray, who has been
i mean basically largely said, just a guy. He's been
picked on, honestly by the other teams, right, but he is,
but he's filming better about himself. Yes, And that was
a very poorly thrown football. Derek Stingley had a good

(47:00):
evening yeap, Kamar first team All Pro. Derek Stanley with
a great day. He did, he was fantastic. Kamar Lesser
was good. I'll say here was good. Harry Tatole was
in there. I mean, all your familiar buddies and friends. Yeah.
A lot of talk about Rashaun Slater and Joel being
one of the best tackle tandems in football, and they
each gave up four pressures, so I mean the Texan

(47:21):
defense got it done. Yeah. And and CJ. Sharad was
good enough. Yeah, I mean he made a lot of
good throws. So if you were to say, how does this,
how do you take what you saw Saturday and translated
to or next Saturday? The same tech Texans pressure now
Herbert's I mean, look, Mahomes, I don't think it's gonna
make the same time of mistakes that Herbert made. But

(47:43):
I'm gonna agree Pat Mahomes is better than Jess. So Herbert,
you're gonna probably have to even put even more pressure
to force Mahomes out of his comfort zone. Although every
time somebody says that he just wants up turning to
his left, throwing to his right and finding these incredible catches,
I would think probably would it be fair to say
Texans offense has to be better than it was this
past Saturday? Yes, you're all. I mean, again, you went

(48:05):
up against the best scoring defense in football. I think
it was with the Chargers, So you're again you're going
up there's Yeah, you're going up against another tough defense.
So uh to me, the last couple of years, that's
what the Chiefs have been winning with is with their
defense and not as many you know, back in the
day when it was Tyreek Hill and Prime Travis Kelcey
and stuff like that. Yeah, So I think there's a

(48:27):
lot of things are being encouraged about. Today should be
a celebratory day. We'll start thinking about the Texans LT
of this week. Now, you go on a Kansasity radio
show all the time, so I do hopefully and your
buddy came out with what came out when you were gone.
We did, So you're gonna set up the contact. We
didn't you get star on the show on Friday. Okay,
he's available, he'd be available. He's very busy, not that
busy big time radio. I think he starts it too,

(48:50):
so it should work out. Oh yeah, work up. He
was on with this last time and we got a
bad connection. So we didn't get a better connection this time.
Oh really, it was probably our fault. I mean not probably,
it was definitely our fault. Okay, so we will get
to a little perspective on that. Uh, we have a
national championship game one week from today. Yes, that one.
We got to bring them just a little bit. Let's

(49:11):
move on. Go ahead, And I know you want to
justify the play call, but you'd probably be the only one.
What are you talking about. Nobody's like that was a
good play call, just wasn't executed proper. Where did I
say it was a good play call. Yeah, we were
in the in the prepper room earlier. Yeah, and the
prepper room, I said. What they did was they admitted
that they couldn't line up, So you probably again you

(49:34):
couldn't line up with Ohio State. The interior of the
line hadn't been good. Absolutely, I'm with you. I don't
know where Arch could ever should have been. Maybe it's
because he almost fumbled. I don't think that's it, and
then he had fumbled before I think so. So maybe
Sark was a little bit worried about the turnover possibilities.

(49:54):
But I mean, just sneak it twice. Just put Arch
in there and sneak the ball. I think a toss sweep.
And I have no evidence to this because I just
take an immense amount of time. Well, what we saw
was the absolute worst case scenario. You lost eight yards
on that play. But why would you toss sweep from
the one when your quarterbacks already in shotgun? Put you

(50:16):
hit the four, then the toss would put you to
the seven or eight. You're then having to ask your
running back to get a to really amp it up
for six seven yards to get the one yard. Ye're
at the very least like faked put a lineup in
an I formation, fake it, fake a fullback dive, and
then toss it out. Try to get the linebackers a
little bit off off step. Well, the easy solution wasn't
this so all we can do is because we're great

(50:37):
the second guessers in life, it's just put arch and
an RPL. Yeah, I mean, even when they were tossing
it outside. It's just there's so much sideline to sideline
speed on that Ohio State defense, and it's hard anyways.
I mean, look, Ohio State was better than Texas. Ohio
State is more talented team overall than Texas. It was
the two most talented teams left in the field in
my opinion, but they just weren't good enough. Offensive line

(51:00):
wasn't good enough. And Quinn Travian Weisner is a decent
running back, but he wasn't ever supposed to be the
number one all year long. Well, look, you need to
spend that Ale money on getting some running backs. Well,
Baxter is supposed to be back, Okay. Jayden Blue is
declaring for the draft for whatever reason. I guess he's
getting some intel that he's supposed to be so drafted
and we're still here. The lean right now is for

(51:22):
Quinn Ewers to go to the draft. That's what Pete Damill.
He got an interview with Pete Damill before the game
that they aired before the game, and he said, do
you expect to be in college football? And he said,
I don't expect to be. So that wasn't some people,
it was a lean. It got sensationalized by clickbait headline people.

(51:42):
Quinn viewers declares for the draft. No, that's not him
declaring for the draft, because he kind of left a
little whigger. He's like, I don't expect to be if
Carson Beck gets four millie, that's what I'm saying to
go to Miami. Are we supposed to believe that Quinn's
getting six to go somewhere to an unnamed school at
this point? Maybe I mean, you tell me, is he

(52:02):
is Quinn Yours worth six million dollars? I'll stick with
my gut feeling. I expect him to well authors for
my gut feeling, am I I think to tell the truth.
If Quinn Yours is getting six million dollars to play
next us in college football, he needs to stay in
college football.

Speaker 8 (52:15):
Now.

Speaker 4 (52:15):
Whether he's getting that or not, it remains to be seen.
But his professional contract will not be worth six million
dollars unless let's in the second round back right, he'd
have to be in the second round or better, which
I don't expect. But people reach on quarterbacks all the time.
Well it's also because they can also he can also
have an impressive combine too. You never know, I don't know,

(52:36):
all right. Seven one three two one two five seven
ninety seven one three two one two five seven ninetie.
This is Matt Thomas Show with Ross. We will hear
from Demiico Ryans coming up in about twenty minutes. Right now,
Jacob is with us here on the Matt Thomas Show
with Ross. Seven one three two one two five seven Ony. Hello, Jacob, Yeah,
what uh Yeah? I told you I was gonna be

(52:58):
double digits. I said twenty eight, y'all, I said twenty
a seventeen. I said fourteen with you like eleft. They
even they even get the seventeen points. I knew it.

Speaker 20 (53:10):
I don't know what people are looking at far as
when they come to their defense.

Speaker 4 (53:15):
My man was hurt.

Speaker 20 (53:16):
They said he spirited or the head spirit or whatever
he did, and they disease. They they you know what
I mean. He coming back from a suspension. The boy
he was the drug for drugs. They kicked him out
for they defense is the guys man in the rookie.
Let me tell you who turned the game around was

(53:36):
the rookie when when CJ made that turnover and they
came back in the in the in the red zone,
and he got the next play, he got out, he
got an interception that flipped the whole defense. Then then
the defense will charged. Dan Stingley got his and then
then they caught up. I'm gonna telling you, first of all,
Herbert was overrated, and like I was telling you, man

(53:59):
them days over them them guys. Look who left in
the playoffs. Now you gotta be door threatening. You're not
making it. You're talking about you be talking about your
guy Cincinnati, Joe, Joe.

Speaker 4 (54:09):
You forget about it.

Speaker 13 (54:10):
Bro.

Speaker 9 (54:10):
He and plus he in there with Lamar.

Speaker 4 (54:11):
You can just cancel him out.

Speaker 20 (54:13):
He got to go back to college, be like back
beck The only reason why back left because of Shador and.

Speaker 9 (54:20):
My man wore they you know, and he was not.

Speaker 20 (54:22):
He ain't have a chance of being in the top,
so he falling back and then he think next year
he can come out. He'd be the first or second
quarterback selected. And your boy in Texas, he need he
needs a transfer like beck Man, because he gonna do
the same thing because the way he came, he didn't
come through for Texas. He's not going to get picked
up like that. So maybe he can go transfer, get
the bag somewhere else. But the Texans are looking they

(54:46):
can beat Cincinnati. Bro, I'm telling you they my man.
You know he ain't been having the best yet, all
the ding dongs with the field goals, you know, they
can put the pressure on him.

Speaker 19 (54:55):
Man.

Speaker 20 (54:55):
They ain't got the running game like the Texans and Lamar.
But now when they run into the Lamar yo, because
well mine Buffalo go date finish smash. I can't wait
till they beat Buffalo. The breaks off Buffalo.

Speaker 9 (55:06):
Hi yuah.

Speaker 4 (55:09):
I would like for those of you that just listen
to that phone call to dissect that phone call if
you are able to do so. That's Jacob seven one
three two one two five seven AUTI. If you can
dissect that phone call, call in and tell us what
you think he said. He said a lot fill over

(55:30):
the place, and he was right. He did call last week.
I told him he was crazy because he was talking
about them winning by like fourteen. Okay, I'm not worried
about I'm not worried about Farni's call. I'm worry about
today's call. Okay, break that down like a mota all right.
Seven one three two one two five seven ninties seven

Speaker 1 (57:07):
The Matt Tanna Show with Ross continues so on Sports
Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 4 (57:17):
Eleven nineteen. That's sports Talk. Oh oh that's one. There's
another one. I say, yes, I don't know what the
news is now. Five is the most right? Yes, I'm
gonna give you another one. Three Okay, now I'm really intrigued.

(57:39):
Connor worth worth a four and definitely a five? Or
maybe this is a five? Do you think it's worth
a fourth? Connor? Really, I actually don't know what it
is either. Okay, yeah, you judge Matt hit An am
hit it one more time? Four? Are you serious?

Speaker 14 (57:55):
Is c J?

Speaker 8 (57:55):
Stroud?

Speaker 2 (57:56):
Okay?

Speaker 4 (57:56):
It's something involving in Houston sports. Thank god, I think
I think Houston sports teams are five star. You have
to leave him in there. Five okays? Hit the music
Please Dallas the greatest instrumental TV theme song in television

(58:20):
history disagree. Mike McCarthy out as Cowboys coach. Besides, could
not agree on length of contract, and McCarthy will pursue
other opportunities. He leaves Dallas with a winning record in
three playoff appearances. Were they four four stars? That's fine,

(58:44):
you're a big Cowboys guy, you're a big go back
to Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 8 (58:47):
Whatever.

Speaker 4 (58:48):
But I think it's it's the most recognizable sports team.
They base themselves America's team, even though they haven't won
a super Bowl in over thirty years. They're four and thirteen.
Every year they be on national television six times Hillaysia's rating.
So yeah, I think it's a big deal. It's interesting.
I went My personal thought was they should have let
him go to Oh my god, they're not gonna let

(59:09):
him go to. I think you're gonna try to resign him,
which again that's that's his business. Then the Chicago Bears
wanted to talk to him, and then the day Cowboys
said you're not allowed to talk to our guy. But
now I've believe starting tomorrow, since he has no contract,
he can talk to anybody. That's right. Tomorrow he is
a lot of his contract. Why that's the date.

Speaker 15 (59:29):
But This makes me sad because I don't think Mike
McCarthy is a very good coach overall, and now the
Cowboys can actually be good.

Speaker 4 (59:43):
Mike McCarthy as their coach puts a limit on them.
I think to me, you you can win with Mike McCarthy.
You're not gonna win because of Mike McCarthy. I mean,
he is a Super Bowl winning coach, right, And I
think those teams won because not with Mike McCarthy, because
Aaron Rodgers in those ways, weapons and those players were
really good. So do you, and I'm not trying to
overly simplify this, do you think that Mike McCarthy was

(01:00:06):
drawn up plays and creating schemes and Aaron Rodgers like, look,
I'm better than when anything Mike McCarthy can throw at me.
I'm just gonna improvise my way to a championship. I
think when you get it's a little and I'm not
saying it's a lot short, it's a smid short side. Okay,
Well I disagree with you. Okay, you can win. You
can be a coach that's not great and you have
great players and win a Super Bowl. All right, let's

(01:00:30):
go back. Can we name a really, I don't know,
Barry Switcher with the Cowboys. Let me go look at
super Bowl champions now he inherited that. Yeah, Mike, you
want to his super Bowl winning coach, But I think
my I think Mike Hogren there before. It didn't Yeah, okay,

(01:00:51):
did they okay, Gary Kubiak and the Broncos. Gary Kubiak
great super Bowl winning coach? Or did they win because
he had great defense?

Speaker 21 (01:00:58):
Well?

Speaker 4 (01:00:58):
I mean, name a team that has had a great
coach and Lossey players when the Super Bowl never happens? Right?
But maybe maybe my philosophy is I think the job
is too difficult to be just a guy that walks
out there. Like I mean, I like David Cully is
never gonna would ever lead a team to the Super Bowl.
I what if you were stacked with like twelve Pro

(01:01:18):
bowlers if David Cully was coaching this Ravens team this year.
I don't know how many games it depends, but I'm saying,
of course both matter. But I think you have coaches.
I think Andy, I think Bill Belichick brought the paratriots
to New Heights or brought them over the in many occasions.
But Belichick's number one thing is what did he never
won without Tom Brady? Yeah, that's true. He never won

(01:01:39):
a Super Bowl without Tom Brady. But they won ten
games with Mac Jones. They won eleven games with Mat
I'll just say this, and I think we're maybe just
arguing semantics.

Speaker 12 (01:01:46):
I I.

Speaker 4 (01:01:48):
Just will I only I'll ever say, my god, how
is this guy winning? He must be a complete idiot.
Barry Switzer is a good example of going to Dallas
and inheriting that. But Barry Switzer was a very successful,
super successful Oklahoma coach. Yeah, and then he was washed
out in the NFL. How about Doug Peterson with the Eagles.

(01:02:10):
Doug Peterson's just incredible. Now, the Philly special play was
fun and they scored a lot of points in that game.
That was wild.

Speaker 9 (01:02:19):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:02:20):
It feels like to me there have been very few
now saying impossible, but very few overmatch head football coaches.
Like I said, I don't think he's over match necessary.
I don't think he's a bumbling I don't think Mike
McCarthy's a bumbling fool. Now, I will agree with you
on this. Does Mike McCarthy take you to the Mike
McCarthy take you to the next level because of his
incredible schemes. Probably not. Yeah, that's what.

Speaker 10 (01:02:41):
That's what.

Speaker 4 (01:02:41):
That's what I'm saying. But I but I, but if I, if
Mike McCarthy was available, I would interview him. Why the
compos letting him go?

Speaker 14 (01:02:50):
Then?

Speaker 4 (01:02:50):
If he's so good? Because it couldn't come come up
with a contract. Why did Chicago Bears as they just
pay him? Why did Why did Chicago Bears ask? Yeah,
they're asking to interview him, they're gonna hire him. I
don't know. Well, now I have to ask permission. Thing,
Just go talk to him. You want to, Well, when's
the last time the Chicago Bears, by the way, hired
a good coach? Well, Lovey Smith? Yeah, like I said,

(01:03:13):
what's the last time I want Like I said, man,
Matt Nagy, damn Like I said, you're running through a
lot of Chicago coaches. Dicka, Yeah, Dick was it was
a good coach, Dicket Air. Would you rather have a
bad Would you have a short Dicka running a good

(01:03:33):
team or a good good dia Back coaching a bad team?
A hurricane or Mike Dick hold on the name of
a hurricane is Hurricane Dita. You know uh Mike Dicka
as as a tight end when he was playing the NFL,
or Dicka yelling at you with a headset on bears brass.

(01:03:54):

Welcome, good afternoon, the best sports lunch and each town.

Speaker 4 (01:05:03):
Matt's really smart. He works hard, he has a good
grasp of players, He's been around the game. You love him,
We love them so excited for the opportunity that Matt
has in front of him. For sure, this is the
Matt Thomas Show. All right, let's go to jamake O.
Ryan's over at Energy.

Speaker 9 (01:05:25):
I'm like you guys, get five seer changes the tire.

Speaker 22 (01:05:31):
Can you talk about players and coaches.

Speaker 23 (01:05:36):
When you have struggles in the game, you know player, coach,
you know offensively, defensively, special teams. It's a matter of
just continue to stay persistent and understand that.

Speaker 9 (01:05:46):
So why the games are four quarters.

Speaker 23 (01:05:47):
You just have to stay of course and understand where
those mistakes happen and how you can improve. But it's
a matter of everybody continue to believe in each other
and do the things we need to do to play well.
Everybody knows who you make mistakes or you're inconsistent. They
know what the issues are. Is just a matter of
getting them fixed within game. And we're fortunate to be

(01:06:09):
able to overcome some mistakes that we had in this
last game with the turnovers, we were able to answer
get some stops defensively, Kamara is able to go and
get a takeaway after one of them. So just a
matter of the team continue to play around each other.

Speaker 9 (01:06:24):
That's how you overcome.

Speaker 23 (01:06:25):
Those transform and when you have the big players CJ
made it, does you know, lift everyone?

Speaker 9 (01:06:36):
I think just the energy, the morale.

Speaker 23 (01:06:39):
Of the entire team, even though it's not going great,
when you see that that one player can it sparked
the energy, sparked the enthusiasm for our entire team, and
it was it was a difference maker for us and
our guys fed off of it.

Speaker 22 (01:06:53):
Watched Kamari Lassador and at Georgia and school some of
the initial impressions and now kind of what he's become.

Speaker 23 (01:07:00):
And Kamarai has been consistent. He's a tough, hard nosed player,
old school. He's a corner who loves to play physical,
which is rare these days. Kamari likes to tackle and
he brings a different intensity and out on the perimeter
than most corners because of his physicality, but also just
his smart intelligence and his playmaking ability.

Speaker 19 (01:07:22):
You talk about the opportunity your team has this week
to do something this franchise has never done with if
you can get a.

Speaker 23 (01:07:29):
Win, We're excited about the opportunity we have. We understand
what's in front of us. Great team. Case has done
a great job for the past few years of really
dominating the league, you know, being there at the end,
have great coaching staff, great players, a great team all
the way across the board. So it's a really tough

(01:07:50):
challenge for us. We're excited about the opportunity we have
versus KSE. We know it's it's a tough, tough team
to be all right. It's going to take everything that
we have. It's gonna take all four quarters. Similar to
our last game. We just have to stay the course,
remain persistent throughout the game, and find a way to
win in those critical moments.

Speaker 24 (01:08:10):
Faced Kansas City. Always like you, if you were in
that game, that was the game you've dominated. What do
you take from that as you prepare to go and
place them this one game?

Speaker 9 (01:08:20):
Different game.

Speaker 23 (01:08:21):
I don't take much from it. It was a game
that was that week. You know, it's different circumstances that
happened in that particular week. Now it's a new game
for me, fresh start, new game, right, we'll attack it
just like it's our first time playing these guys again.
So we'll go in with the fresh set of OZ
and see the things we need to do to be better,

(01:08:42):
the things we need to do to close out the game.
And that's how you always go into each game with
the fresh set of OZ, not really harping on a
lot of what happened in the previous game.

Speaker 22 (01:08:52):
It's a lot of defending every playograss on the field.
When it comes to defending packinger homes, all the angles
and the things he does to create passing LANs, we're
some of the special challenges of trying to account for him.

Speaker 23 (01:09:05):
Whenever you're tasked with playing call it eleven on eleven
football with the quarterback who is able to run the ball,
it just presents different challenges, like you have to be
sticky in coverage. You have to plaster that's what think
you think. You cover guys once and the play is
still going on and you have to look to cover
them twice. So guys have to be very disciplined when

(01:09:27):
you're playing and coverage versus Mahomes because we know his
escapability and not just him running the ball, but also
the threat of the run and him still being able
to keep his eyes down field and make passes. Guys
are wide open a lot on their film or because
of the threat that he poses. And he just requires
so much attention because he's such a elusive guy in

(01:09:51):
the pocket. He's such a man, a unique playmaker with
the different angles and the way he can throw the football,
the way he gets the ball out, whether it's under arms,
side on however he wants to get it out.

Speaker 9 (01:10:02):
He has the confidence to get the ball to his playmakers.
Derek hasn't an unique ability to track balls in the air.

Speaker 23 (01:10:12):
What do you think about that ability in him and
does it remind you of any anything? Yea, dere Derek
has done a great job all year of you know,
when people challenge him down the field, he he has
a great ability to track the football and go make
the play.

Speaker 9 (01:10:27):
Not many guys have that ability to track the football.

Speaker 23 (01:10:29):
That's while a lot of guys play dB because they
can't catch it, but Derek does a good job of
you know, playing with great awareness but also having great
hands to finish the play and make teams pay.

Speaker 25 (01:10:41):
What Joe brings this team on the field, like everyone
gets that, but off the field his mentality, what does
he bring this team just to mental state?

Speaker 9 (01:10:49):
You know in between weeks?

Speaker 23 (01:10:51):
Joe provides confidence as he brings it every week, like
the way he goes about his business, every like what
he has to say to the guy all throughout the week.
He provides confidence, like you see a confident guy who's
trying to exude that confidence off on his teammates.

Speaker 9 (01:11:08):
And that's what he brings. Confidence.

Speaker 23 (01:11:10):
He brings positive energy to everyone, and that's what you
need at this point in the time of the year.
Like you you have to believe first and foremost, and
Joe brings that belief. And if you don't have it
you hear him talk, you bet you'll get it really quickly.

Speaker 4 (01:11:25):
So how much.

Speaker 19 (01:11:29):
Of a boost is it to have a special teams
unit that makes the kind of big plays like yours
has been doing for you this year?

Speaker 23 (01:11:36):
Special teams just came up. He came up big for us,
making some impact plays. Anytime, special teams can affect the
game where it's taking the ball away, blocking a kick
like it, it.

Speaker 9 (01:11:47):
Changes the game drastically.

Speaker 23 (01:11:49):
And our guys have made some plays throughout the year,
whether it's executing a fake punt, you know, blocking kicks,
getting great returns. It's all about winning a hitting yardage battle.
And our special teams have done a really good job
all year that coaching other chances.

Speaker 26 (01:12:04):
Speak with some of the players after the game and
it's the same as far as the last two weeks
is concerned. They've been talking about how good the practices
have been heading in to the Tennessee game, head again
to this wild card game.

Speaker 4 (01:12:17):
Was there anything different.

Speaker 26 (01:12:18):
Or did you just see that, you know, Joe even
told us there's not a lot of doovers that we
have to do likely you know previously or earlier in
the season. What was it about these practices that that
was different.

Speaker 23 (01:12:30):
With our practices the past couple of weeks. The difference
for me has been how locked in our guys have been.
When when our guys work the right way, it shows
up in the game. Right we have practices where we're
doing a lot of repeats or guys are not quite
on it, like it shows up the inconsistency show up
in the game. So for me, it's always I've always

(01:12:51):
been a stinkler. For the work you put in throughout
the week, it'll show up in some way, some form
of fashion on game day. So I just always implore
our guys us to our first day out like there's
no time to waste, there's no wasting reps. We don't
need to waste time when we're in practice because all
those things will show up later, you know, in the week.
So it's important to me that we work the right way.

(01:13:14):
And when I talk about being relentless and effort and
all the physicality, all the things that I preach for
our guys, I want to see.

Speaker 9 (01:13:21):
It throughout the week.

Speaker 23 (01:13:22):
When we exhibit that throughout the week, it'll help it
helps us to play better on game.

Speaker 26 (01:13:27):
Dan say, there's a lot of the big names are
going to stand out, of course from this game with CJ,
Joe Deco, will you know Derek, But what about those
guys who also contributed, like a Miles Bryant, like the
d' angelo Ross, like an Eric murd When you look
back and you watch the tape, what stood out to

(01:13:48):
you about that.

Speaker 9 (01:13:49):
Going back and watching the tape versus the versus the Chargers.

Speaker 23 (01:13:52):
I could, I could name everybody on our team right
who stood out, who contributed, and we're a big part
of us playing well in game. First, I think up
front talented our defensive line and play well. And Foley
him being back and that was the reason why we
played well in the run game. I thought he impacted
the game there a Z's making a huge play on

(01:14:14):
a third and two, physical play getting them the fourth down.
Zz Henry was consistent with where he was supposed to
be all day and coverage, Miles Bryant stepping in playing
Nickel he was. He helped us with guys just with
the communication, getting guys a line being where they have
to be, and him just being able to do his
job consistently.

Speaker 9 (01:14:36):
Just a lot of.

Speaker 23 (01:14:36):
Guys all across the board helped us to win this game.
So and that's what it's what team football is about.
And that's what you need now going down the stretch.
You need everybody to contribute. And I always tell our
guys like our best players have to play their best
and if you consider yourself our best player, and we
need your best and that's all everybody.

Speaker 9 (01:14:56):
So it's our best.

Speaker 23 (01:14:57):
Player all forty eight guys who suit up, so I
need everyone's best. We need everyone's best so we can
go out and compete at the highest level.

Speaker 27 (01:15:06):
Know what your relationship has been with Andy Reid over
the years, but coming up when you're kind of up
through the ranks before you landed this job, what have
you admired most about what he's been able to accomplish specifical.

Speaker 9 (01:15:16):
Air, Kansas City.

Speaker 23 (01:15:17):
What I've admired most about Andy is the consistency in
which he's led his teams. Has He doesn't change in
his approach. Uh, it's been effective. Of God's love to
play for Andy. I love playing for Andy. He's a
He's a great head coach. Smart coach. Puts his players
in positions to thrive. You see him, you know, kind

(01:15:37):
of Taylor the offense to fit Patrick's abilities, and it's
worked out well for him.

Speaker 9 (01:15:43):
Right, He's been very successful. Right.

Speaker 23 (01:15:45):
He has a lot of good coaches around him as well.
Andy does a great job of just finding a way
to win. You know, whatever it takes to win games,
Andy's gonna find a way to do that, and that's
why he's been one.

Speaker 9 (01:15:56):
Of the most successful coaches. You know, in our game.

Speaker 4 (01:15:59):
Early talk a little bit about.

Speaker 24 (01:16:02):
There's a lot of credit given to your guys up
frown me as well, Daniel when you mentioned folk, just
the work that you get from that entire up front
guy like Deniko, the whole funt seven, This is the
first time you had I guess that whole funt starting seven.
Is that that you envisioned this team right.

Speaker 22 (01:16:18):
Of the season?

Speaker 9 (01:16:18):
Ye seeing all of our Yeah?

Speaker 23 (01:16:21):
Was it all nine guys we have on the defensive
line who are up on game there.

Speaker 9 (01:16:25):
They all help in some form of fashion.

Speaker 23 (01:16:27):
But when it comes to the run game specifically, like
the run game isn't stop without our d tackles, right,
And that's that's Foley as Mario, Tim Settle, Tommy stepping in,
Deniko's like, all those guys contribute and with them playing
with great awareness. They're smart players, so that allows us
to play. It's not just you know, firing off the

(01:16:50):
ball playing blind like. They play with great awareness and
they put us in position to make a lot of
plays in the run game by eliminating space. So that
D line, it's about a collective effort from all those
guys and them working together. I know a lot of
praise goes to our edge rushers with Will and Daniel,
but a lot of those things that they're able to

(01:17:10):
do is set up by the guys on the inside.
So the way those guys continue to work together and
feed off of each other, it'll be important to our
success moving forwards.

Speaker 22 (01:17:19):
Had a big game actually sept record passing yonder Hopkins.
How much do you need from the other guys to
compliment him and do a little more than what you
had against the charters.

Speaker 23 (01:17:29):
Very proud of Niko for what he's been able to
accomplish this all year, everything that he's done. You know,
even when everyone knows the ball is going to him,
he still makes the play. So excited for him and
just his trajectory as a as a probe, and he's
done an outstanding job this entire year. And you know,
when it comes to other guys around him and for us,

(01:17:50):
it's just about how we need to move to football
the game yards, whoever it's task would get in the ball.
Just want guys to protect the ball, press forward. It
really doesn't matter if you get it, do your best
with the football.

Speaker 9 (01:18:06):
How was your attacking ma Shiet But now as much coordinator.

Speaker 5 (01:18:12):
Procaus you deep us type of well, but they take
the ball away a lot.

Speaker 4 (01:18:16):
What is the biggest reason you're respective.

Speaker 9 (01:18:19):
Wh you guys are able to have these games?

Speaker 4 (01:18:22):
You force multiple interceptions on something of the best quarterbacks.

Speaker 23 (01:18:26):
We're able to force a lot of takeaways because we
have a lot of good players.

Speaker 9 (01:18:30):
It's not it's not about me.

Speaker 23 (01:18:32):
It's about the players out there making the plays, and
guys have done an outstanding job. That's one of our
it's our main thing that we go into every week
is talking about attacking the football, taking the football because
we know when you take the football away just raises
your percentages of winning the football game. So every every
week our goal is to win the game. So we

(01:18:54):
want to win the game and we take the ball
away and then the defense helping the team win the game.
So our guy has done a great job of owning that.
Not only again I talked about practice earlier, but they
have to do it in practice, and we emphasize it
in practice, and it shows up on game day.

Speaker 25 (01:19:10):
That mentality and defense, that swarm mentality. It's so much
the mental side of desire to play that way.

Speaker 4 (01:19:17):
Who who do you see leading and holding that.

Speaker 25 (01:19:19):
Standard of like this way we play defense here and
like anything below that's just unacceptable.

Speaker 23 (01:19:25):
Who leads the swarm chars that to be a well
you really you really can't go out there if.

Speaker 9 (01:19:32):
You're not about it.

Speaker 23 (01:19:33):
Like and that's what's unique about our defense, Like it's
not one guy. If you want to, you want to
talk about one guy, you can talk about Will as
it will as the guy who leads it. You talk
about disease as the one guy. You can talk about Stingler,
you can. I can name all those guys because each
one of our guys when you play defense the way

(01:19:54):
I believe in playing defense, Like, if you're not about
the swarm mentality, then it's gonna be hard for you
to play defense for me, because not only I see
it one way.

Speaker 9 (01:20:05):
A lot of teams were.

Speaker 28 (01:20:06):
Bang up this time of the year of Kansas City,
probably the healthiest.

Speaker 4 (01:20:10):
State been skilled position wise on offense.

Speaker 25 (01:20:12):
How challenging is what they have with them wise from
my homes.

Speaker 23 (01:20:18):
They present, they present a unique challenge because you know,
when you talk about their skill position, they have five
guys who are all elite playmakers. Right, everybody they put
on the field that's ineligible has a chance to create
an explosive and make plays.

Speaker 9 (01:20:33):
And it's not always the explosive play down the field.

Speaker 23 (01:20:36):
It can be you know, worthy just on a one
yard it's in him turn it into an explosive. So
they present probably the best, the biggest challenge we've had
we faced all year, and it takes everyone.

Speaker 9 (01:20:51):
Right.

Speaker 23 (01:20:51):
That's why I talk about our defense like it's gonna
be a collective effort from everybody. It's not just stopping
one guy. It's not just stopping Kelsey. Right, they're running.
It's really good. I don't think I don't think pron
gets them now a lot of credit. But he's a
guy who's one of the smartest guys when it comes
to pass pro protecting, blocking, running routes. Like he's another

(01:21:14):
guy you have that you can't sleep on him as well.

Speaker 9 (01:21:17):
So they do a really good job.

Speaker 23 (01:21:19):
Of I think Patrick does a really great job just
distribute in the football to whoever's open, and it just
reminds you of everybody makes the a knowledge of the
point guard and in the NBA, but that's what he is.
He's truly point guard and he's dishing the ball to
whoever is open. And it's not only down the field.
It's the short passage. That guy's open, he's getting the football,
and those guys are converting and creating explosives. So everybody,

(01:21:42):
you know, sideline the sideline. We have to play with
great awareness, great odd discipline. We have to tackle really well.

Speaker 22 (01:21:48):
Challenge to like from a from a defensive quota or
standpoint where you really haven't had the visual of all
these guys on the field healthy.

Speaker 23 (01:21:55):
At the same time, no challenge will do, will attack
what they do, and we'll see how it turns out.

Speaker 4 (01:22:05):
All right, thank you, Thank you very much, Tamiko. If
you want to chew on anything that Dimiko had to say,
let us know, come on in and be a part
of the program. At eleven forty eight, it is the
Matt Thomas Show with Ross seven one three two one
two five seven ninety seven one three two one two
five seven ninety We have the news at noon coming
up twelve thirty, we have to tell the truth. And
at one uh fifty today it's another edition of Believe

(01:22:26):
It or Not. A lot to get to. We will
celebrate again another outstanding performance by Houston Texans on Saturday
as well, and we'll do that all the way till
two o'clock today seven one three, two, one two five,
seven ninety very complimentary Dimiko, as is most of the
time when he has one of these impressed availabilities. Seven
one three, two one two five, seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (01:22:47):
More Matt Thomas Show with Ross Now on Sports Talk
seven ninety.

Speaker 7 (01:22:55):
Bowles ripped and bowls, bowles ripped, thrown edges up.

Speaker 4 (01:23:06):
Lots of have a two piece throwing up the hes.
Maybe cheek can we play this on there? Is this
really even legal to be playing? It's a clean version.
Are you sure? Who sings us to? Multiple choice? Who
sings a song? Sings? Who raps this song?

Speaker 1 (01:23:27):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (01:23:27):
You want to give you choices? Okay, d J D
M D, Big Hawk, Fat Pat, Paul Wall, slim Thug,
some Mike Jones, some Thug. Okay, good job. Slim Thug
is rapping right now. It is a technically a Mike
Jones song with Slim Thug and Paul Wall. Slim Thug
is on the first verse, so a lot of people
think it's a slim Thug song. That is incorrect either way.

(01:23:51):
This is where each town burst onto the scene as
a as a national rap conglomerate. I suppose Kennar getting
lots of promos for his Super Bowl halftime, his Super
Bowl Yes, uh, he's also up for like six seven
gram He's coming up in the beginning of February. By
the way, I'm going to send you what every tweet
about Kendrick Lamar's on Super Bowl Sunday. Why what do

(01:24:12):
you mean? Because it's gonna it's gonna run fifty to
fifty fifty percent. Country's gonna like this is amazing, fifty
percent gonna hate. I don't care. Just like every other
halftime performance, I didn't need the validation, but I still
want to send it to you. I know it'll help
me kill time. Okay, because because the super Bowl may
be a blow out, you never No, Actually, we haven't
had a blow in quite some time, have we. We've
been on a pretty good run, have we. That's there

(01:24:32):
have been Last year went to overtime, right, it was
like the first overtime. Yeah, it wasn't it. I want
to say Blackjack in the in zone or something like
that was the last blowout the the Seahawks Broncos forty
to eight. Yeah, it's been a while, But when I
was a kid man, every every year was a blowout. Yeah,

(01:24:53):
I mean the league. I'm not saying. You know, you
could say the league was better but back in my
day or whatever. But everybody's good now. Yeah, more than
like schemes you get, like anything that happens, people get
better and better and better as the years go on.
I don't know, like like math or physics or whatever.

(01:25:14):
People learn faster. The athletes are bigger, stronger. The fifty
third guy on every roster is closer than the fifty
third guy on rosters back in the day, and salary
caps level the playing. Absolutely the hard cap for as
much as the players fight back on it. In baseball
and basketball, the hard cap has made the NFL the
most is a big not all of it, but is

(01:25:35):
a part of why the NFL is the most interesting
league year to year with the most parody. Yeah, by
the way, television ratings down a smidge from year to year,
that's fine, okay with that. You know what it is,
and it's it's not because the NFL has less interest.
I think that sometimes you get some weird sampling. Sometimes
when you're the big dog and your ratings go up

(01:25:55):
every every single year and year and year and year,
you get a tipping point. You slip back some and
then it's like, I'm sure, I'm sure in the owners
meetings or whatever, like they got a like a group
text or something with Jerry Jones. A lot's going on
with these writings. They're down. It's okay, Jerry, It's fine.

Speaker 8 (01:26:09):
No.

Speaker 4 (01:26:10):
I I like, you're still making billions of dollars. I
want to see the numbers are because I mean, I
want to say it was just a tinge. Oh, Buccaneers
Chiefs is a blowout. Just as I pull it up,
that was thirty one to nine, twenty one, okay, but
yeah before that the Panthers Broncos wasn't a blow They

(01:26:33):
got to like a fumble sixty. There had been some
lousy games. It was forty three to eight, not forty
to eight. Yeah.

Speaker 9 (01:26:39):
That bothers me.

Speaker 4 (01:26:40):
Fine, you're fine. Yeah, I must have gotten rid of
the email because I was I'm looking for but uh
oh the ratings writing thing again just a tinge. But
I I when I looked at the headline, I'm like,
I don't. I don't think anybody in the NFL circles
is like, oh man, our sport needs to be fixed.

Speaker 8 (01:26:57):
Right.

Speaker 4 (01:26:57):
Remember it's also sampling too. We have a very the
way we way we measure audiences, it's just not it's
just not consistent, and there is plenty of room for interpretation.

Speaker 9 (01:27:08):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:27:09):
Every time I see a game on television, I see
sol out crowds, I see an intense social media interaction.
And I have two games that were sold on Netflix
for one hundred and fifty million dollars. NFL is doing okay.
Salary cap keeps a reset. The salary cap every year
keeps going up. That means revenues have gone up. It
is time. We're gonna go with the Houston song. We're
gonna throw the ages up for our Houston song. At

(01:27:30):
the top of the hour, Let's do it with some
highlights of the awesomeness that was okay Saturday three thirty
two with it, and then the news at New the
News it New, and to tell the truth at the
bottom of next hour. It is the Matt Thomas Schebrawl
seven one three two one two five seven nine. If
you want to join the conversation seven one three two
one two five seven ninety want to tell about affordable

(01:27:51):
tree service And look, the weather's like good this week,
but letters just think it's gonna get cold, we get
more rain coming, and what I want is I want
to check makes if your trees are in the best
possible condition. And that's why you call Affordable Tree Service
at seven one three, six nine nine two sixty sixty
three seven one three, six nine nine two six sixty three.

(01:28:11):
Please call Martin, have him come out evaluate your trees
and give you an estimate of what's gonna take to
make sure that your tree had the best chance of
surviving during these up and down temperatures. If you've not
had your trees deep root fat, if you can't remember
the last time you had your trees prune evaluative for
overall health, now is the time to call. He's not
super busy right now, so it's a really good opportunity

(01:28:32):
to actually speak to Martin personally. He's kind of crazy,
but he's a good guy. I'll love his family and
you'll be able to speak with him and get your
trees looking their best for the upcoming spring. Seven one three,
six nine, nine two sixty sixty three seven one three,
six nine nine two six sixty three. Affordable Tree Service.

Speaker 1 (01:28:51):
Yeah, lunchtimers, this is the Matt Thomas Show.

Speaker 5 (01:28:56):
So the Chargers take over eleven thirty nine to go
in this first half, out of the pocket, Herbert dials
it up across his body and.

Speaker 6 (01:29:04):
That one's intercepted. Come Laurie Lassiter with the.

Speaker 2 (01:29:08):
Pitch, didn't play the dry a minute two on the clock.

Speaker 5 (01:29:14):
Strout laces in, tucks down Nico Collins.

Speaker 2 (01:29:23):
Texans on the board.

Speaker 6 (01:29:26):
Herbert pump Frow intercepted Eric Murray pick six touchdown Texans.

Speaker 5 (01:29:36):
Chargers leaving quickly side off In.

Speaker 6 (01:29:38):
Intercepted off the deflection by stinging stingly down the sideline,
tackled inside the fifteen.

Speaker 5 (01:29:48):
Extra pointed Dicker. It gets popped up in the air.
Dicker numbs it away and gets clubbed on the play,
and they've.

Speaker 7 (01:29:59):
Got it running with a t'angelo ross taking it all
the way for two, fourth and one.

Speaker 2 (01:30:07):
It's Mixen first down and more.

Speaker 6 (01:30:10):
Mixon, it's the pylon, tusdown.

Speaker 4 (01:30:17):
Tixan's let his parents make every game. How proud are
they right now?

Speaker 5 (01:30:26):
Deep shot picked off fourth of the day for Houston.

Speaker 2 (01:30:31):
Derek Stingley. His second is.

Speaker 4 (01:30:34):
His song on my iPhone? Yes or no? It should be?
That was the question, and a ride like every play. Shoot,
come on, Matt gets the people going. By the way,
just to finish up, we were talking about last hour,
the NFL is a two point two decrease in viewers.

(01:30:57):
Oh my god, by the way, this is the Rockets
play this at every victory. Correct, I'm too busy saying
Rockets win. Well, I say tonight, Yes, especially with our
good friend John Morant questionable with an illness. All right,

(01:31:19):
dad is going to be part of what I believe
to be the news at noon. Yes, that absolutely, we're
going to talk about the Houston sections as they were
able to take care of business against the Los Angeles Chargers.
A lot of people doubting them on the national scene.

(01:31:41):
They were able to get the victory. And while actually
normally we go to the side of the Houston Texans,
let's hear from Justin Herbert talking about the Texans pressure
being an issue.

Speaker 28 (01:31:53):
Yeah, I think they did a good job. You know,
it's on us to be able to execute and handle that.
And you know, I think it did a poor job
handling the pressure. And you know, I got to find
the quick outs, you know, throw the ball away, do
a better job for taking the ball.

Speaker 4 (01:32:05):
Also, Justin Herbert squarely putting the blame on himself.

Speaker 28 (01:32:09):
I let the team down, and you can't turn over
the ball like that and expect to win and put
the team into a tough position there with four turnovers
like that. So you know, the defense hunked off. They
got some turnovers. They gave us opportunities. But I just
have to be better.

Speaker 4 (01:32:22):
I'll agree with them. One thing he sucked. He didn't
blame anybody else. Accountability from Justin Herbert and his four picks. Also,
just fifty yards rushing overall for the team on eighteen carries.
That's under three yards per carry for the Chargers. Also

(01:32:43):
four hundred and twenty nine yards for the Texans offense.
Matt Now, they were going up against the number one
scoring defense and a football They did get thirty two points,
although one of some of that did come from the
pick six, and of course the two point runback. But
four hundred and twenty nine yards I get most the
Texans have had all year long. Doing it against a

(01:33:03):
very good defense. You know what, you save your best
for almost last, and that's exactly what the Texans did. Yeah,
it'd be nice to have Stefan Diggs and TANKDLL going
up to Kansas City, But the Texans opening up as
eight and a half point dogs. Now most places, you
look still about eight to seven and a half holding

(01:33:24):
most places Saturday at three point thirty, also known as Texans.
You know somebody has to play the early game on Saturday. Yes,
it does make sense. It's either going to be the
Chiefs or the Lions. So they both had the buy.
So you had to pick and choose what would be
the more, the sexier the two matchups and the sexer
the two matchups. Is Washington Detroit? Yes, and then of

(01:33:48):
course we'll get more on the NFL rewind tomorrow, Matt.
But Bill's Ravens set for five at thirty pm. I
mean that I'm not calling it a super Bowl preview,
but this very well is a super Bowl caliber matchup,
with the Bills in the Ravens being to me two
of the best lot of time. He's on Game Ball
five point thirty, Sunday, January nineteenth. All right in baltimorefo, No,

(01:34:13):
it's in Buffalo. Let's take a look at the forecast
for Buffalo. Wow, the line already flipped. It opened with
see I need to get an account. It opened with
Buffalo as one one and a half point favorite. It's
already flipped to Baltimore minus one. Sunday's high in Buffalo
will be twenty four degrees, the low will be fourteen,

(01:34:34):
So my guess will be about in twenty degrees around
kickoff times. Okay, do you feel like that favors either
side as far as Buffalo or Baltimore both just to
cold weather. I think it favors a team with a
really good running game. But Cook has been really good
for the Bills, and there was awesome yesterday. Derrick Henry
is still an animal. Yeah, yeah, that's a coin flipper

(01:34:54):
to me. I agree, Oh, that's a one point spread,
not a coin flip. Elsewhere on the news at noon,
as you mentioned, Matt, you do have the Houston Rockets
tonight at the Toyota Center taking on the Memphis Grizzlies.
This game getting picked up nationally. It will be on
NBA TV right now. The Houston Rockets minus three and

(01:35:15):
a half spread wise, of course, some implications for the standings.
Rockets a full game ahead of the Grizzlies in the
two spot. Two in the loss column, so three in
the lost column. They can get up on the Memphis
Grizzlies if they're able to get the victory tonight. Be careful.
Denver is making a push. They beat Dallas last night
in the d I think dismissing Denver would be foolish.

(01:35:37):
I'm with you, so to me, Denver posed to be
a bigger threat for the two seed in the West
than what Memphis will throw. I think there's the thunder
and Tier one, and then I think the Rockets are
in the mix of Tier two with a fully held
with when they get fully healthy Mavericks, Team, Nuggets, Grizzlies, Rockets.
That's the next tier. Got you in the NBA, and
we'll see what happens tonight. Rockets have won three in

(01:36:00):
a row. By the way, Reed Shepherd is back from
the G League. Yes, as we expected. That's coach told
us that last week. Appreciate it all right, Matt Well.
Apparently over the weekend this is kind of offbeat, but
also sports sure. UFC Hall of Famer Kabebe Nargo Medov

(01:36:24):
was kicked off a plane, with many sources including Barstool
Sports and TMZ reporting it was an Alaska Airlines flight,
but apparently it was a Frontier I'm sorry Montier flight,
and Kabebe is not happy a lady came to him
with questions. This is his statement, was very rude from
the beginning. Even though I speak very decent English and
can understand everything I'd agreed to assist, she still insists

(01:36:47):
on removing me from my seat. What was the base
for that racial national or the other one? I'm not sure.
She called security and I was deem playing from this aircraft.
After one and a half hours, I boarded another airline
and left to my destination. I did my best to
say calm and respectful, as you can see on the video,
but crew members could do better next time, just to
be nice with clients. As he was removed from an

(01:37:09):
air flight, no reason for it. No, there's just a
video of him getting tossed off the plane and he
was talking with the lady. I don't know if they
thought he was being combated or what. But apparently a
Kabeb doesn't want to fly Montier anymore. By the way,
he's a UFC Hall of Famers, got money. What's he
doing flying more? You're going to Montier in a budget Yeah,

(01:37:32):
you're wearing your everybody of your clothes and your entire
trip on your flights you able to pay for the bag. Yes,
you're bringing your own water. Uh um, Well, I'm trying
to find his net worth real quick. Apparently it's around
forty million dollars. That's on him for flying Montyr. I'm
with you, Matt, and there's your news at noon. All right,
there you go, twelve fourteen on Sports Talk seven on

(01:37:54):
it we have the bottom of the r We have
to tell the truth. Well, I've got four takes, ROSSI,
I only believe one of the four this week. Okay, okay,
hold on, wait you there's four and you only believe one? Correct? Okay,
got it, You're right now on that one. I'm okay.
I feel like I gotta slow it down for you. Yeah,

(01:38:15):
thank you seven one three two one two five seven
seven one three two one two Quick time out, come
back with more of you as we celebrate a Texans
win seven one three two one two five seven nummy.

Speaker 1 (01:38:28):
Back to Matt Thomas and Ross via Real on Sports
Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 29 (01:38:34):
Wow, big, they were the better team today. I'll respect
UH to them, and not being the better team today
is I'm accountable for that.

Speaker 9 (01:38:47):
So that's that's on me.

Speaker 29 (01:38:49):
And UH congratulations to uh Amiko Ryans and the UH
and the Texas they were the better team.

Speaker 4 (01:38:59):
Sure appreciate you. Jim Harball set off to the offseason
to count how many Khakis he has in his drawer,
so he said he's accountable for the loss against the Texans.
Justin Herbert also said he's accountable for the loss as

(01:39:19):
he turned the ball over four times. And well, whoever
wants to make themselves accountable, I'm okay with that because
the Texans are on to the divisional round. As we
go along and move along here on the third hour
the Matt Thomas Show with Ross at seven one three
two one two five seven ninety seven one three two
one two five seven nine zero and one's like in

(01:39:40):
the office textas got a chance on the Chiefs. Of
course they do. They got play the game of their life.
I mean, but I meant to save this for to
tell the truth, I just couldn't phrase it properly. ROSSI,
if they beat the Chargers, then beat the Chiefs, then
beat either Buffalo or Baltimore, even if they don't win

(01:40:07):
the Super Bowl. Is that the greatest postseason run in
Houston sports history? I mean five rockets, three super heavyweights. Yeah,
ninety five rockets? Was how many. Was it like three
sixty win teams. I wouldn't say the Charger was super
heavyway let me let me preface change that. I know,
but as you put on Twitter yesterday and it was

(01:40:31):
absolutely right, Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson is going to
get eviscerated this weekend. Yeah, no matter what happens, the
team that loses their quarterbacks and be like that guy
is not a win I can't win, right, which is unfair.
That was my point. But what I will say it
is if you don't have good quarterback play like Justin
Herbert was awful. That was That's the storyline to me

(01:40:53):
of why the Chargers lost the Texans. I don't think
Justin Herbert throws for three point fifteen and they still
lose a football. You have to have good quarterback play.
If C. J. Strag goes nine for twenty for one
hundred and nine yards and two picks, Texans have no
chance to win that game. I mean, their Texans defense
is good, but they've got to do something offensively. Yeah,
unless they getting a bunch of pick sixes or something.

Speaker 9 (01:41:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:41:14):
So I to me, you have mean and I feel
like every single week we get the latest example of this.
Quarterbacks that are elite are getting paid fifteen million dollars
a year for a reason. Yes they are, and there
is such a discrepancy between the top quarterback and the
top running back and the top wide receiver. You can

(01:41:35):
win what ad Nico Collins finished with on Saturday one
hundred and plus seven eight catches and go look it
up with a touchdown. Yeah, seven catches for one twenty
two with a touchdown. Okay, So maybe that's not a
great example. My point being is this Joe what was
Joe maxon An a good game?

Speaker 9 (01:41:54):
So maybe you maybe.

Speaker 4 (01:41:55):
Had twenty five carries for one hundred and six yards. Yeah,
you need all that in a touchdown. But if you
don't have good quarterback play, you're not on CJ. Stroud
two eighty two, one touchdown, one pick. Like, for instance,
when Buffalo and Kansasity played in that championship game. Remember
that Buffalo Knsady overtime game. Yeah, they were both scoring
back and forth. They both had great games. Thirteen seconds
to go and the Bills are like, we're finally gonna

(01:42:15):
make it. You can get away with that even you
have those elite quarterbacks. If you don't have an elite
quarterback who plays really, really poorly, You got no chance.
And Herbert, Yeah, Herbert to me yesterday really took a
step back in terms of the national perception of him.
I feel like this in really all sports, especially when
it comes to playoffs and laden playoffs. You can do

(01:42:35):
all the game planning you want, all the preparation, all this,
at some point it just comes down to this guy
made a freaking incredible play, whether it be Michael Jordan
in the playoffs, Tom Brady Eli manning those couple of
times Pat Mahomes where it's like there is no amount
of preparation and game planning or anything that you could
have done to where it's simply like that dude made

(01:42:57):
a play. Yeah, And there's going to come that moment
in the playoffs to me where whoever it is gonna
be and that player will either get made or it won't.
And then those are the those there are the great
moments that we remember. Like CJ. Stratt is at a
certain level right now, he wins the next two games
because he's gonna have two great games. Yes, he's gonna
be put into a different stratosphere if it happens. Of course,

(01:43:22):
the Texans defense isn't good enough to withstand What if
if if CJ puts up Herbert numbers in Kansasity this week,
probably not I would agree with that. Okay, let's talk
to some people. Let's go to Philip and Parland at
twelve twenty three on seven. Honey, Philip, good afternoon.

Speaker 8 (01:43:44):
Hey Matt, Hey Ross. I think San Diego choked. You
know they had that why donpen receiver, I don't know, a
tight end near the ten. He dropped it, just flat
out dropped it. And then those the interceptions, the overthrows
by Herbert, you know, they got really lucky there where

(01:44:06):
they became interceptions. And then and then the number three play.

Speaker 4 (01:44:10):
How did they get really lucky? The number an All
Pro first team cornerback was hawking the ball from from
Justin Herbert, and one did go off the hands of
Will Disley. I'll give you that one. But how is
that luck?

Speaker 8 (01:44:24):
But but two of them, Ross, two of them were
overthrows where they could have been.

Speaker 4 (01:44:31):
He was under pressure. Yeah, Justin Herbert, when he's getting
harassed by by Will Anderson and Denico Autry and Daniel Hunter,
he's going to be under pressure. He's gonna make mistakes.

Speaker 8 (01:44:41):
Yeah, they weren't mistakes though, I mean the overthrow slightly
the MAKONKEI might have been a mistake. But the other one,
I mean he was right in his hands early on
the tight end. Uh. And then and then the interception.
I still infuriates me, I kind of anyway that they
don't call that an interception number three in the end zone.

(01:45:02):
I forget dropped the ball?

Speaker 4 (01:45:04):
You mean when he dropped the ball?

Speaker 3 (01:45:06):
He dropped the ball?

Speaker 8 (01:45:07):
What are you kidding me?

Speaker 12 (01:45:08):
He had it in his hands, Philip, You charger talking
about Oh, maybe we are You're talking about Derwin James
dropping the ball in the number three right when they
took the Yeah, on the right side.

Speaker 8 (01:45:26):
What do you mean he dropped it? How do you
construe he dropped it? It was going that to me.

Speaker 4 (01:45:31):
He didn't survive the the one where they overturned it. Yeah,
you think they shouldn't have overturned that. No, you must
have walked out of the room. But did he dropped
the ball? He filled the ball came out. There is
not a single soul in the part when he hit
the ground.

Speaker 8 (01:45:52):
What he hit it still being questioned in his hand.

Speaker 4 (01:45:56):
You haven't survived the ground. He didn't survive the ground.
Is go back to the rule.

Speaker 8 (01:46:00):
Look, Philip, it popped out after that.

Speaker 4 (01:46:03):
Yes, go back and look it up. There's not a
single soul on the planet that thinks that was a
bad Sure. Yeah, it's you, my friend. Man, I've checked
out of this conversation. I don't by the way, Texans
first downs twenty to fifteen over the Chargers yards four
twenty nine to two sixty one over the Chargers. This
is this was a lucky win. They beat them by

(01:46:25):
twenty points.

Speaker 8 (01:46:25):
Well, I think if I think if the tight end
catches in the red zone there, I think it might
have changed. Yes, the score in the first half.

Speaker 4 (01:46:35):
And if your anhead balls should be your uncle.

Speaker 9 (01:46:44):
I don't know.

Speaker 8 (01:46:45):
I you know, it's the first game i've seen. Uh.
The offense, look, you know it was good in moments.
Uh it was. I love the way they mixed running
with the pass in the second half was getting eight
yard carried at a pop that was really well coordinated

(01:47:06):
by the offensive coordinator. You know, they looked on defense,
they looked small compared to San Diego. What they're very athletic.
And the are you doing with Davis mantra, Philip.

Speaker 4 (01:47:22):
Are you doing measurables on these people? I didn't realize
they looked small.

Speaker 8 (01:47:27):
I don't know. Maybe it's the uniforms, but compared to
San Diego's a sense they looked smaller.

Speaker 4 (01:47:32):
Yeah, it must be the Power Blue somehow. By the way,
those uniforms are the best San Diego, San Diego. San
Diego has the best uniforms to get their ass whooped
in and NRG Sandy Diego Superchargers, Sandy Way you go charge.
He's the first person on the planet to say that
was a lucky win by the Texans. Like what, No, No,

(01:47:55):
Herbert made mistakes because the pass rush was very consistent. Yeah,
I used to have the Chargers sign. Hopefully San Diego
will be able to bounce back from that next year. Yeah. Whatever, No,
there is nothing lucky induced with what the Texans did.
The Texans forced the issue. I mean, what is it

(01:48:17):
he's talking about that Derwin James pick. That wasn't right.
He dropped the ball.

Speaker 9 (01:48:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:48:20):
And by the way, Derwin James is amazing. Derwin James
is a fantastic, fantastic player. Wasn't good enough? He was?
It was he was a one man game for the defense,
if you will, all Rightill Mack was pretty good. Joey
Bose got a sack. Yeah, but Joey looks slower. He's
got a lot of injuries, a lot of injuracing back
in my argument, they look slower, all right. Steve hank
Ty Robert hank Tight will get to both of you

(01:48:42):
coming up in a matter of moments. Twelve twenty eight

Speaker 1 (01:49:50):
Come back to Matt Thomas and Ross Viaiales Fine Fine
Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 4 (01:50:01):
I never know why you don't know, but Ross and Connor,
I do know how to tell the truth, and I'm
about to do it here on Sports Talk. Seminey, I

(01:50:22):
have four takes. These are takes, not facts. These are
four opinions. I have one of them. Connor, you listen
to me one. I believe, Ross one of them. I
believe I got it. Time for you to decide which
one I'm telling you the truth. Okay, let me write

(01:50:42):
this down. Number one. The only road team winning this
weekend in the Divisional playoffs in the NFL will be
the Baltimore Ravens. They will win at Buffalo. Okay, sure,
Number two, So Mike McCarthy is now out as a

(01:51:02):
Dallas Cowboys coach. Jerry Jones is got a fan base
that continues to have a lot of issues in terms
of people respecting his role past his prime speaking to
prime hm. Okay, being prime in Colorado ain't gonna last

(01:51:24):
much longer because everybody else is gonna jump in at
a game if Jerry Jones really wants to make a
splash higher and go somebody that would not necessarily follow
the company line, because that's what I think people think
that Jerry Jones gonna do. Okay, He's going to get
Dion Sanaders because the Raiders have already told Deon Sanders
thanks but no thanks. Hmm okay, and Dion's a former

(01:51:47):
Dallas Cowboy. Number three. It is so late in the
game boys. How late is it that Alex Bregman need
not worry about signing a contract until somebody gets hurt
at spring training before signing a new deal. Scott Boris
did that with three of his clients last year. What's

(01:52:08):
won in twenty twenty five. Well, one of them fired him,
wanted to fire him, Yes, that's true, but the other
two did not. Blake Snell did not. I believe Blake
snails a Scot boroughs Sky. Right, yeah, he did not.
And then he regretted not having a spring training because
he was awful his first couple of season. He got
a new contract, so he's doing fine. Yeah, I think
I think it's so late in the game now with

(01:52:29):
the spring training, that's what's another few more weeks. And lastly,
Mike McCarthy just got fired from the Dallas Cowboys or
decided that he was not going to come back. He
didn't take a year off. Another jobs go lare over
the place, but all of the jobs suck except New England.
They just hired Mike rabel the the other day. Take

(01:52:50):
a year off, come back in twenty twenty six. Better
jobs might be available, including teams that might have winning
programs that might be looking for a new coach or
new coach retires. I say, if I'm Mike McCarthy, I
sit out twenty twenty five. Do some television, regroup, rebrand yourself,
get rid of the stain that was a Dallas Cowboys
come back bigger and better and stronger in twenty twenty six.

(01:53:11):
Now you say he should or he will. I think
he should. If I was giving advice to m McCarthy,
I'd say take a year off. Here we go. Only
road team that wins this weekend is Baltimore. Jerry Jenones
needs to go higher, Dion Sanders, Alex Bregman should wait
till spring training starts before signing a dealer picking a team.
And Mike McCarthy should take a year off. Which one
of those four? Am I telling you the truth? Connor McGovern,

(01:53:40):
what are you thinking?

Speaker 21 (01:53:43):
I don't know. I'm kind of these last three are
throwing me off. Well, okay, sorry, one, three and four
kind of thrown me off. I'm throwing out too. He
doesn't actually believe Cowboys, Sanders, Mike McCarthy. Matt's advice to
mc McCarthy being to take a year off, I don't
think is accurate. I don't think Mike McCarthy might won't
get a job. I don't think he will get a job,

(01:54:04):
but if he's offered to one, I'm sure he'll take it. Yes,
Alex Bredman waiting until spring training.

Speaker 4 (01:54:12):
He probably doesn't want to.

Speaker 21 (01:54:14):
Yeah, so that that also kind of throws that one out. Yes,
so I think it's gotta be one. I mean everything
you said, I would echo those sentiments. One is also,
I mean the games that are set now the home
team's lions.

Speaker 4 (01:54:32):
And what's the other one? Lines and Chiefs are big favorites. Yeah,
we don't know the last matchup, but the Eagles would
be big favorites over either team that they could play. No,
they wouldn't be big favorites of the vikings. All right,
I'm gonna go with one. Are both sticking to one?
You guys are done? Ye? All right, here we go.
Mike McCarthy, he's coaches like the coach. He hasn't take

(01:54:55):
any year off. There's plenty of jobs out there, so
he's gonna probably go after another one. Well, they get
to it or not, You're right, Connor is a debate,
but I would not say better. Look, every year bad
jobs open up, never great jobs open up. Yeah. The
only example I might think I would be maybe if
Sean McVay was to quit the Rams might be a
better job, But all his job was a good job.

(01:55:15):
And Jim Harbaugh ticket, but he's took over for a
five and twelve team. But yeah, okay, So I would
say Mike McCarthy needs to go back. I think waiting
for spring training would be very foolish for Bregman because again,
why do you want to go through six more weeks
of this? And by the way, any player that really
misses spring training or misses part of it really winds
up picking off to a slow star. And that's one

(01:55:37):
thing Alex Bregman doesn't need it. As a new team,
it'll be the same thing, actually be part of the course. Yeah,
or we get into it even slower stars. What I'm saying,
you can you need if you're on a new uniform,
you got to make sure you're off to a rain
Buoks just a good start. The last thing you want
to do is beat behind everybody else's spring training. So
I would say him waiting would be foolish. And Dion
Sanders ain't playing for the Dallas Cowboys coaching your coach. No,

(01:56:02):
So Boys, you were right. The only wrote Tim, I
think it's gonna win this week is the Baltimore Ravens
winning in Buffalo. And you both figured out which one
I was telling you the truth. That's a spoiler. I'm
as of right now, I will be picking the Ravens
as well. Lamar kind of needs it for his own now.

(01:56:24):
He's got plenty of money, but for mental health sake,
to have to face the is Lamar Jackson a winner
and face frankly josh Ana. The last two years he's
beaten the Lamar Jackson, his injury prone allegations. He's been
fairly healthy. Although anything can happen. It's the NFL. Yeah,
beating the Lamar can't win in the playoffs allegations are
his next stay. Well, it's like if you're on ESPN,

(01:56:46):
if you're hosting Ruse Rake, you got it in the
this quarterback and you just insert Lamar Jackson or josh
Allen can't win the big game. It's already locked and loaded.
The first four segments for next Monday already locked in
on us. They each score a touchdown on each of
their possessions, and it goes to overtime and like the
first team to get the ball, it's it's gonna be yeah, yeah,

(01:57:08):
God forbid one of them throws a pick or fumbles.
It's the playoffs gonna be tough. Both of them are
great franchise quarterbacks. We'll see what happens this weekend. To me,
like I said, not a super Bowl preview, but super
Bowl caliber matchup for sure. All Right, that's tell the truth.
Let's talk to Robert and Katie at twelve forty on
the Matt Thomas Show. Ross Robert, Good, afternoon.

Speaker 9 (01:57:30):
Hey, how's it going well?

Speaker 30 (01:57:33):
I think I guess you don't think the Texans are
gonna win?

Speaker 4 (01:57:37):
No, and I and I'm very, very impressed with what
they did Saturday. I mean the most impressed I've been
with them in a long period of time, really since
last year's Cleveland game. Were they destroying Joe Flacco. But
Kansas City, you're going up in weight class and talent,
and I just I mean their Kansas City's defense has
probably been as good as it's been a long time,

(01:57:58):
probably even better than last year's defense. The offense is
slept a little bit. Could Kansas City be in a lull?
But Andy Reid doesn't typically let his team's get to
know a lull for a long period of time, And
even when they're not their best. They lose two games
this year. One of them was because all the backups
were in. It'll be twenty four days since they played Rusty.

Speaker 30 (01:58:16):
And maybe they might take Texans for granted.

Speaker 4 (01:58:20):
No, do you hold on? Hold on? Do you really think, Robert,
the tech that any team would take to anybody for
granted this level in the NFL.

Speaker 30 (01:58:28):
I still think we can do it. I think if
any team we were going to play, this is the
team I wanted to see us play. If we had
a chance, we have a chance to get into the
next next following week, I think this is the road.

Speaker 4 (01:58:40):
We needed to take.

Speaker 9 (01:58:41):
I don't know how y'all feel about that, but that's
my opinion.

Speaker 4 (01:58:43):
Yeah, I think I give you.

Speaker 9 (01:58:44):
I buy that.

Speaker 4 (01:58:45):
I mean, it's crazy to say that. It's Yes, the
back to back Super Bowl champion and number one seed
Kansas City Chiefs were the ideal opponent for the Texans.
There were no ideal opponents. All three were so much
in terms of star power. That's not disagreeing, But when
you say it out loud, no, no, Robert, I will

(01:59:05):
agree with you that they feel the most vulnerable, but
they're also chasing history. Yeah, the back to back super
Bowl champ, number one seed Chiefs, back to back to back,
going for it. They try to do the be the
first ones ever in the Super Bowl era. I don't
know if anybody in the NFL Championships if if they

(01:59:28):
do it. How close does Andy Reid get to Bill Belichick? O?
How close does Pat Mahomes get to Brady TV? Is
he even thirty? What's he twenty nine to thirty?

Speaker 8 (01:59:40):
Mmm?

Speaker 4 (01:59:42):
These are great debate points. Let's talk to you, Steven
Hoffman at twelve forty two high.

Speaker 9 (01:59:47):
Steve, Well, Hi, ain't Matt, how are you? I? But
let me throw this at check.

Speaker 14 (01:59:55):
Let's just say we replicate the same numbers against the
Chiefs we did against Los Angeles, minus the turnovers in
all areas. I think I think if we could do
that somehow, we'd win the game. Now, the main reason
I called you as I saw something Saturday that I

(02:00:19):
hadn't seen, and that is somebody I don't know what.
Stroud finally got it in his head. I think I
got to run the ball and be part of the
offense of my legs. When he started doing that, things
opened up. He's gonna have to do that. The other
thing is he needs to reintroduce himself to Hutchinson. Every

(02:00:44):
time I've seen that guy get a pass thrown his way.
He's done nothing but please, So they're gonna be all
over Collins and try to take him away, or they've
got to go to other areas. Hutchinson, you know, would
be definitely money in the bank as far as I'm concerned,
and not just because he just happened to be on

(02:01:05):
the end of a thirty four year busted play. I'm
talking about this season body at work. So I think
that's my take on things. Yeah, I know the Chiefs
are are the gods of all football right now. But
you know, my dad once told me on any given day,
one team can beat another one. And well, you know,

(02:01:29):
Northern ill Nois beat Notre Dame and that's the only
team that beat him so far.

Speaker 4 (02:01:36):
All right, thank you, Steve, Steve. All Right, I mean
there's a you know, we've we've figured out what the
what the folks in Las Vegas happen to think. They
think there was about a twenty percent chance of Texans win,
meaning that if you played ten times, it beat him twice. Okay,
so could be Saturday three thirty all you need is
one baby, or it could be in six years at

(02:01:56):
three thirty. Well, and unfortunately they only play once. But
Xavier Hutchinson just a guy like there is nobody in
there receiving corps that's anything more than just a guy,
except for Nico Frankly, John MATCHI, please hold onto the ball,
John MITCHI to me, probably is playing his last season
for the Texans. Unfortunate, great story. I mean, Frankly has

(02:02:19):
gotten better, has the season gone along? The second best
pass catcher it's Dalton Schultz. Hey, man, don't sleep on
Kate's over like that. M I mean he's fine. I
mean they do use a tight end quite a bit.
I mean that's the case in point with those guys.
You get two guys. Yeah, what did Dalton Schultz end
up with? I thought he only two catches? Why did
I think it was more?

Speaker 9 (02:02:40):
Still?

Speaker 4 (02:02:40):
Four for twenty eight, Dalton Schultz had four targets, eight
for Mechi, eight for Nico Collins, who cut seven. He's
just dynamic. Yeah, you're gonna have to get Nico Collins
the ball. Isn't incredible that Niko is the best receiver
on the team, best pass catcher among any of them
by far. The drop off to the second is significant,
and yet it doesn't matter. He still gets one hundred yard.
So that's what an all prout. I know, by the way,

(02:03:02):
I thought Bobby Slower did a great job. Bobby Bobby slogan,
cain't going anywhere, so you can all can stop that.
Why am I going to the jets? Okay, he's not

When I listen to the Matt Thomas Show, I don't
even understand the eclectic nature of the show, the dicotomy,
the ostentatiousness, the perfunctory that sounds about as smart as
leva ball. Back to the Matt Thomas Show, whoever he is.

Speaker 23 (02:05:01):
That's the complimentary football that you know we've been looking
for and we've been needing as a team, and it's
just an outstanding performance on all three phases. Really proud
of all of our guys. I can go through each
position group. Everybody stepped up and made a play. We
need to make plays. Our best players stepped up.

Speaker 4 (02:05:25):
So if we were to do a video of staying
Alive with the Texans c J. Strode acting in his
role as Barry Gibb and his brothers Gibbs, who do
you have on the left Will and he's the leader?
I don't even know if Will Anderson is left, which
one's the leader? Barry? Okay Stroud? Yeah, even though I

(02:05:46):
mean it was a team effort. De Stroud did very well.
Will Anderson his left shoulder, on his right shoulder, he'd
have Nico Collins. Sure, where's Aziz al Shaier? Where's Foley Photocasi?
I don't think they made the video background dancers? Yeah, okay,
part of the rhythm section. That's fine. Twelve Who's slapping

(02:06:07):

Speaker 9 (02:06:23):
He's still he's still.

Speaker 4 (02:06:24):
The coach in North Carolina today right now, Okay, it's
not gonna change. By the way, I think I went.
I got every game right except one. I got the
Texans game wrong on Saturday. I think I got Washington covering.
I have I had Buffalo covering, and oh, you had

(02:06:44):
the Broncos covering. I think no chance, you know, no, no, no,
there was no no, no, uh huh. I definitely had
the Broncos covering. I said late no, I said late
score for the Ravens. I think no. I think I
had Buffalo given the points up. I think I had
Washed to pull the tape. You god, you know I
you know Rare. I don't want, I really ever want
you to pull the tape. I want you to pull

(02:07:05):
the tape. Pull it. You might have had Buffalo. Yeah,
what about Baltimore? Ummm, I don't Baltimore. I was actually
supposed to write these down and I did. Wait, I
thought we were writing them down though, you told me
to write them down, and I brought up the prediction thing,
but I I forgot to write it. I'm sorry. Unless

(02:07:26):
I wrote him somewhere, I mean, I thank guds. You're
not a bookkeeper for an accountant for a company mine,
I would be goodness, I would be the worst accountant
in accounting history. The worst part of was is I
thought you were tapping that in. I was reading the
old one this one, and I was making a new
tab and I must have got distracted.

Speaker 9 (02:07:44):
I forgot.

Speaker 4 (02:07:44):
Your assignment is to listen to the little shift from
Friday Show. M Okay, I think we did it late.

Speaker 8 (02:07:50):
Well.

Speaker 4 (02:07:50):
I still have it here that you had the Bengals
and Niners in the Super Bowl. Oh, you can raise
that part. I'm leaving it. It'd a been good Super
Bowl season. Predictions are hard. I had Chiefs Niners. Yeah,
the Lions. We should have been on the lines a
lot sooner than we were. No, I'm still I'm sticking

(02:08:13):
with Eagles. I think the Lions lack of defense will
come to bite them at some point. Okay, short turnaround
this week for the winner of tonight's game. You know
it's unfair and it's terrible. And they did it for money. Yes, yes,
and especially yes. It almost feels like, if you play

(02:08:33):
this game tonight, you should be the automatic late game
on Sunday. That yeah, I get you a few extra hours,
but it's gonna be they've already They've already got them
at two thirty. Whoever wins tonight, Vikings or Rams, and
again it comes down to national appeal. Mm hmm, well,
I think at least they have to do with in
the favor of putting them on Sunday. Oh no, there's
no way they could put them on Saturday. That would

(02:08:55):
be that's that would be terrible. You would have to
basically have to call in the NFL and say this
is not gonna you have to get government involved. We
don't do that. If Lord knows, I want to do that.
Uh not brought the Rockets much today. They do play
Memphis tonight. We'll have it for you here on seven hunty.
The launch pad is hosted by whom At six o'clock
I believe it would be one Dan Matthew. Dan Matthews

(02:09:16):
is coming up at six o'clock, and then we get
six point thirty for the network pre game. Seven o'clock
tip time from inside the Toyota Center. The Rockets are
holding on to the second spot in the Western Conference.
Adam Clinton, who will be leaving early, so I'll be
filling in five to six on the eighteen. WHOA, which
means you're gonna be on TV for an hour. Yeah,

(02:09:37):
I gotta go. Should I go? I gotta go wet
my hair. I'm in a Texans hoodie and like my
hair is quite disheveled. I'll go. I'll go clean up.
You know what, if anybody from space it is listening,
you can go and turn the TV off. Hey, I
mean keep to use the audio, but just use like
graphics for the entire out. I'm about putting up a
couple of pictures of Adam and I'm just sitting there

(02:09:59):
looking at each other. Yeah, we could do that. I'll
go fix my hair. You're gonna have to. I'm terrible.
It looks terrible. Oh shut up. You know what, you'd
be easy the well hanging for it would at least
I've got it. Well, you know me, I've never I
didn't do that. I've never worried about it though. See
I didn't do that. I look fantastic. Okay, No, you
don't but at least I don't make both. I always

(02:10:19):
tell people I have two thousand things to make fun of. Madam. Yeah,
don't involve something that's out of it control. The fact
that you don't have hair. Yeah, and it doesn't and
you've known me, it doesn't hurt. Yeah, well, I don't
even do it. Bald guys shouldn't worry about it. That
fall is beautiful. It's a stay away from me. Well,
we have deficiencies, deficiencies in some areas, we've got some
extraordinarily things. It does is the faults to point out,

(02:10:40):
apart from your baldness, I am yeah, they call them. Yeah,
easy to make fun of. That's fine, all right, Steve
and our buddy in Los Angeles is going to visit
with us. Start the one o'clock hour of the show Ross.

I heard you rite the first time.

Speaker 9 (02:11:10):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (02:11:10):
I was like, I don't think he's mispronounced it. But
not automotive show. Okay, very good. Those are nice things.
That's just good to hang out and just watch look
around and do some people watching and look at some boats.
We love it for you. Coming up in an hour

Speaker 1 (02:11:31):
Launchtimers.

Speaker 4 (02:11:33):
This is the Matt Thomas Show. What four at Sports
Shock seven ninety It is the final hour of the
Matt Thomas Show with Ross. Mike McCarthy will not return
his Cowboys head coach, will pursue other opportunities. I think
he's going to wind up getting a job, right, But
Chicago is still open, Jacksonville is still open. Uh, the
Jetropolitans are still open.

Speaker 8 (02:11:54):
Right.

Speaker 4 (02:11:56):
The only jobison Field is New England with Mike Rabel. Yes,
trying to think about any of other jobs that are
open at this point, I nothing coming to mind immediately.
Did you mention Las Vegas? Oh, Las Vegas is open?

Speaker 9 (02:12:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (02:12:13):
How about Las Vegas? We're on the streets. Well, like
thirst year, FRINDI the Dion Sanders would be interested in
the Raiders job. And then late Frini, the Raiders put
the word we're not interested in Dion Sanders. Thanks, but no,
thanks Dion? Where is Dion in three years? Give me

(02:12:33):
some options and I can I choose some onener you
when Okay, still at Colorado? Okay, coaching in the NFL. Okay,
or out of coaching completely? How about coaching a different school,
coaching that Okay, yeah, coach, that'll be option C, coaching
at a different school, Option D. Out of coaching, coaching

(02:12:53):
at a different college. And here's the thing. In the NFL,
you don't have to worry about out.

Speaker 22 (02:13:04):
N I l.

Speaker 4 (02:13:06):
For about kids going to school. But these today's twenty
three year olds, twenty four year olds would check out
of Dion's my way, the highway out of atmos attitude
so quick. In the NFL. How many more children does
he have matriculating through college football? I think it's wondering, right, Okay,

(02:13:27):
I honestly, I'm just like, I'm not trying to be funny.
I don't know, No, You're you're trying to figure out what, yeah,
how long he would get would be a package deal
with something that's interesting, right? Because think about this. If
if if all his kids are high first round draft
picks and they're you would presume they're probably a very
bad football team that he would want to go somewhere
where they would be looking for a head coach and
a franchise changing type player. Well guess what you two

(02:13:47):
for the price of one Shiloh Shador and there is
Shalomi Shiloh shador in Shiloami. Sounds like a bad law firm.
They might be good. Thank you for calling Shalim Shalomi.
So mommy, hmm, oh wait Chilomi is a woman or
a female, Well, then probably she will not be as

(02:14:08):
very high of draft pick considered too. I've kind of
forty she runs or okay, so you know what I'm
gonna say, out out of coaching in three years doing
what television you throwing? I mean you don't have to
do anything, but yeah, I would say out of out
of major college coaching, maybe he could be an assistance
because he's because he's tired of the NFL rule following

(02:14:29):
or what I think it'll I think it would all
wear thin the act, especially I mean he's doing it
for his sons. That makes sense. Howld's primes. He got
to be sixty right somewhere around God. If he's sixty
years old, great, By the way, I want you to
I want you to notice how old you are. If
I tell you fifty fifty seven, okay, fifty seven, I

(02:14:51):
already look older than him. Yeah, he's got a solid
grain of beer. You got your You get the salt
and pepper going.

Speaker 9 (02:14:59):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (02:15:01):
Although a few more weeks of this show you may
be in the I'm telling you, man, I know it's tough.
I started in this show. You were all wrinkles, all black,
so optimistic about this business. You were thinner. How much
thinner now you're fifteen years of Matt Thomas wears on

(02:15:21):
your folks. Salt and pepper. Yeah, gain a few extra pounds.
You could see it all five o'clock on the eight.
He again, I don't know. I would go home, and
I'm not putting a suit off, put at least a
sports code on. I'm gonna at least I'll put some
oil in my hair, get it looking nice and shiny. Really, yeah,
you know, little Moroccan on sleek oil. I onn't got
a shave yesterday at a barber shop in the Willerbrook area,

(02:15:43):
and they put a little shine on my head. That's good. Yeah,
because you want some shan, I said daily twelve ten
to two, let's go. She's like, what does that mean?
I said, don't worry about that. Yeah, they kicked you out.
I give her a good tip though. She's happy. Seven
one three, two, one two five is seven Outie Stevens
in Los Angeles won away on seven ninety Stephen, Good morning,
Good afternoon. Do you actually it's good morning to you?

(02:16:04):
Still eleven o'clock out there?

Speaker 13 (02:16:06):
Listen, sir, how was everybody doing today?

Speaker 4 (02:16:08):
Excellent? Thank you.

Speaker 13 (02:16:11):
Just got a couple of points that I want to
get your take on, the first one being do you
think that the win on Saturday validates the season? You know,
I mean sameor records last year, but you played a
first place schedule and for the second year in a row,
you walloped a team that was favored in your building.

(02:16:31):
So I just want to get your take on that
before you get to the next question.

Speaker 4 (02:16:35):
Uh. The validation for this year to me was what
everybody was thinking in August. Get the AFC Championship game,
because if you lose this week, you're exactly what you
were a year ago. You're exactly what you were seven
or eight years ago when you were winning those AFC
Soil championships. The only true validation in my book, regardless
of schedule, is how far do you take this team

(02:16:57):
come postseason wise? And they've never gone on a championship
game in their entire existence of a franchise, which is
now what twenty three years. That's how you validate a
season is getting further in the playoffs. Do you ever
have to see it?

Speaker 14 (02:17:09):
So?

Speaker 4 (02:17:10):
I think just playing a first place schedule, Remember you
still Stevens, still played just the AFC South and they
were just as awful as always. So you want to
validate it. You want to be better than you were
in years past. Go do something you've never done before,
and that's advanced with a championship game. That's least. How
has I see it?

Speaker 13 (02:17:31):
Yeah, that's that's fair, I mean, and it just kind
of brings me to my next point, which is what
gives me hope, you know, And that's uh. I put
that in quotes because I know it's a very tough
tast to be the chief at Airheads. Is that we
saw CJ the playmaker, you know, on Saturday which we
hadn't seen for most of the season, and I mean

(02:17:54):
for it just felt like, if not most of the season,
the second half really felt like his base Well I'm sorry,
as football judgment was clouded. And then what happened on
that busted play where he ended up making a play,
which is what you want your playmakers to do, was
that it just looked like his football instincts kicked in.
And we know we saw him making accurate throws. We

(02:18:16):
saw him, you know, going through his progressions, and when
they weren't there, he was running for first downs and
it just looked like the player that we all saw
last year. And if we can get that j to
play this Saturday versus the Chiefs, I get a chance
as well as it's a fair fight and the rest
are doing what the rests usually do. So I appreciate

(02:18:37):
the call, guys.

Speaker 8 (02:18:38):
I'll hang up there.

Speaker 4 (02:18:38):
Thanks appreciate.

Speaker 9 (02:18:41):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (02:18:42):
Good friend of the show. Brian a Lima host co
host of The Sean Salisbury Show. Yes, put a photo
up on his Twitter account of the weekend. Uh huh
that showed a referee with Kansady Chief colors and a
logo on the hat. Yes, is that real? Don't even
ask that question. Point being is this, Do we have

(02:19:05):
a hyper sensitive group of Texans fans that think the
Chiefs gonna get every call. I think it's America thinks
the Chiefs get a recall, and they do. The star
calls are a thing. Yeah, I mean Michael Jordan got it. Yeah,
John Moran gets it. James Harden got it, James Harden
got Lebron, James Lebron, James, Greg Maddox got it. Kevin Durant,
Luca don Well, Luka Doncic gets calls and still complains

(02:19:27):
every time every strip down the floor. I think when
you're at a super elite level as part of the
like if you're a super league, here's what you get.
Big contract appearances on Saray not Live, You get to
do commercials for Rubway, and you get rhyming that's your
favorite place in Memphis. Correct, No, it's not. Never been

(02:19:48):
to a Rubway in Memphis. Okay, I've been to a Remyrons,
but never a Rubway. Okay, you see what I'm saying now,
that's no, you get, you get all those things, all benefits. Absolutely.
Tom Brady didn't get calls. Tom Brady got calls. Peyton Manning.
Oh yeah, you sneeze on Tom Brady. It's fifteen yards

(02:20:08):
Farve got calls. Yeah, all the greats. Do you got
to protect the product that puts the brand in the
fifteen billion dollar club. And honestly, no disrespect to what's
the backup quarterback in Kansasity. What's his name? I'm drawing
a blank. Carson Wentz. America don't want to see No

(02:20:30):
Carson Wentz playing for the Chiefs. They want to see
Pat Mahomes. Guess what if Travis Kelsey gets hurt on
a dirty play or questionable play and ends a drive.
America does not want to see Taylor Swift cry She'll
be all right and then she'll go writing a song
about it. Is she back on our tours? No, the

(02:20:51):
tour is done, she'll be there. Oh okay, cool. Great
for her being Bamma Ray with herd of Kansas City.
You know she getting driving there? No, she's taking her
private jumbo jet. She probably has at least five. I
think she's got five jets. My wife says, keeping the
carbon emissions up. Let's go, baby. What does one person
need five jets for? Ask Taylor Swift. I really should

(02:21:17):
get a free run on that. Follow the money I've
spent on those concerts for her the last couple of years,
at least one seat, at least one ride. Yeah, one ride, Okay,
get in the swifty plane one and go. That'd be great,
all right? Uh one fourteen Sports Talk seven nauty It
is the Matt Thomas old Ross. Hey, listen, we got

(02:21:37):
the celebratory times coming ahead. Yes, where do you put this?
One to me? Of Saturday was way more impressive than
the Cleveland game last year because it was Joe Flacco,
I mean, and Joe Flacco caught lighting in a bottle
for one game against the Texans come regular season. But
the Texans made Joe Flacco look very old about four
weeks later. Yeah, so it feels a lot better making

(02:21:59):
Justin Herbert pedestrian then forty year old Joe Flacker. That's
how I see it. Seven one three two one two
five seven ninety seven one three two one two five
seven ninety Yes, making Justin Herbert look pedestrian was great.
Texans also making look JK. Dobbins look pedestrian. Lots of
great football over the weekend. As I mentioned on Friday,

(02:22:19):
my DraftKings pick six players. This past weekend, I had JK.
Dobbins under lower than the sixty one and a half
yards nine carries for twenty six rushing yards. That's a win.
I also had Russell Wilson more than two hundred and
seven and a half passing yards. He had two hundred
and seventy passing yards. That's a win as well. So

(02:22:42):
if you took my advice, you went two for two.
I am just saying for these weekends games, I think
it is something about the Chiefs running game. I might
go to that. Well again, maybe the commanders in the
passing game will fine tune that. We'll have my spotlight

Speaker 1 (02:24:00):
At Thomas Ross Veriel It's the Matt Thomas Show with
Ross Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 32 (02:24:11):
I was just having an opportunity to play another you know,
wildcard game here in Houston, and to get a win.
You know, our crowd was rocking. Just an honor and
a privilege to be able to be you know, and
the shoot and I don't take it for granted. And
I'm just so grateful.

Speaker 4 (02:24:35):
At CJ on what it was like hanging out with
y'all three thirty on Saturday. The crowd looked full of kickoff,
which was good, loud and proud, baby put anybody putting
their h's up, Yeah, put your hes up, win or lose.

Speaker 9 (02:24:54):
As you do.

Speaker 4 (02:24:54):
Matt, what are you thinking eight minutes in the first
quarter when they were down stair nothing. Yeah, you could
have two thoughts. One we're in for a long day,
or two they're lucky that they're only down six nothing
and that one score could really change the vibe of
the entire time. I think my thought was the defense

(02:25:14):
was playing well, and I thought that. I was like,
at the offense doesn't get in gear, then this is
going to be a long day for the Texans. But
then the offense did getting gear. I mean certain hosts
in the station wanted to leave the stadium. Yeah, what
was he tagging me for that? I never lead games.
I think it was a should team X give up

(02:25:35):
type of a slant on them. Then you just which
is a clot out steal the bit? Then talking about
Adam Clanton of course coming up two to six here
on Sports Talk seven ninety wonderful video. Give some I'll
be on at five. I'll be listening when I'm on
the show, that's true. Well, others don't know. Well TBD. Yeah, okay,

(02:25:58):
so where we're going with this? So a lot of
me thought, my god, they are getting a ninth live
on this. They better fix their issues or it's going
to be twenty four to nothing at the half and
people are gonna be putting the boot birds out.

Speaker 9 (02:26:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:26:12):
That the first few drives, I mean, you fumbled the
ball away on the first play. I will tell you
in that moment, I was like, oh my god, this
is about to be a long Saturday. My faith didn't
go supery once they took the lead. That's when I
think I started to believe. In the second quarter, I
was like, they can beat this team because the defense

(02:26:35):
for the Chargers on the field of a long period
of time. That was a long ninety nine yard drive.
I mean that switch flipping with CJ. Shroud and the
play that he made, and Herbert wasn't getting any better.
He was still overthrowing receivers. They were still throwing passes
and were intercepted. They were shutting down the run game.
There was no running game to speak of. The Ezekiel
Elliotting got on the field on Saturday. I don't think

(02:26:56):
he was acting active. Yeah, that was just I guess
what the ultimate insurance policy. Yeah, the Chargers looked really pedestrian,
and Justin Herbert is no longer going to be discussed
in a conversation of elite quarterbacks. I mean, he had
a sluggish start to open up the year because he
was hurt, got better. People were bragging about the few

(02:27:18):
interceptions he threw. He threw more receptions in that Walt
Card game than he threw during the entire regular season. Yeah,
and didn't get me help from his receivers. But it
was I think really, if you really looked at it,
at it with the microscope, you probably said to yourself,
these passes just weren't very good. They really started to
open things up as the season went along. As far

(02:27:40):
as throwing the ball. They would definitely run, run, run, run,
and then run some more to start. And then he
started playing very well towards the end of the season. Yeah,
did Justin Herbert remember what we talked about that stat
though that the Texans had a minus sixty point differential
against playoff games playoff teams. The second worst team in
the NFL was the Chargers. They had like a minus
thirty something, which is crazy because they have the best

(02:28:01):
they have the best scoring defense going into the under
the game. That's why you got to contextualize things too.
How hard was their schedule? How many good off top
offenses they go against? You know, how many? How many
playoff teams did they play?

Speaker 8 (02:28:11):
Well?

Speaker 4 (02:28:11):
They played one on Saturday and they got on.

Speaker 9 (02:28:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:28:16):
And usually the Chargers fans are the first to say, well,
we got we have bad karma or something flucish happening.
There is a bad juju that there is terrible. Look,
I'm when one of your best friends is get that.
I hear about it all the time. There was no
bad new juju. Justin Herbert played very poorly. Yeah, well,
the Texans defense played very well. They played extraninarily well.

(02:28:37):
And you know what, both things can be said and
be accurate. Doesn't be one or the other. Now you're
going from seventy degrees in a warm building with lots
of your friends, yes, to twenty five degrees and seventy
three thousand people that want you to lose. Yeah, it's
gonna be different. And the defense always seems to do

(02:28:59):
a lot better at home home, at least recently.

Speaker 9 (02:29:02):
Why do you think that is?

Speaker 4 (02:29:03):
I I don't know. I mean, it's just it's just
is just the karma of being a home game versus
the road game. You could go with the crowd noise.

Speaker 9 (02:29:10):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (02:29:11):
I think, I think, I don't know. So I'm trying
to think in the last couple of years, was there
Ravens didn't have problems at home?

Speaker 28 (02:29:20):
No?

Speaker 22 (02:29:21):
No, no.

Speaker 4 (02:29:21):
And that's the thing about the Texans defense. It's been
a little bit up and down. I mean, this Rossel
it was thirty one to two on Christmas Day. That
was what twelve seventeen, eighteen days ago. Are you telling
me that Texans all of a sudden played the Tennessee
Titans in which their starters play with series or two
and that fixed all the issues? No, it just shows
you that you wake up one day and you may

(02:29:45):
be a completely different team than next. Yeah. And that's
exactly what the Texans did. If the Texans and Chargers
played ten times, right, my guess is they split the
series or somewhere thereabouts. Perhaps if they're all ten in Houston,
then I think I would favor the Texans for sure.
Hell for that, man, I don't think anybody going to

(02:30:05):
LA to play a game the Chargers stadium is all
of a sudden going ooh, the Charger fans may be
a big issue. That's the thing. I mean, if the
Texans and Ravens play ten times, thirty one to two
is probably about as bad as it gets. Yeah. But
also I mean, do you do you have more time
as if the offensive line have more time to gel
play together more?

Speaker 9 (02:30:25):
You did have?

Speaker 4 (02:30:26):
I think the starting three linebackers for the Texans, it
was their first time all three starting together.

Speaker 14 (02:30:31):
Hm.

Speaker 4 (02:30:32):
I mean, you were as healthy as you possibly could be.
You come out of the game relatively healthy, right. I
don't think it was anybody of a serious injury coming
to mind. We'll see the practice reports as the week
goes along. I mean, you can't go to Kansas City
feeling any better than you are right now. But the
question was brought up to our front from our friend
Steven Los Angeles earlier this hour. What makes indication? I

(02:30:53):
mean I answered it my way. I said, you have
to do something you've never done before for it to
be a really really success. Valid eate the season, you
tell me you my expectations preseason was the AFC championship game.
But as we go along, I think you can recalibrate,
like I'm recalibrating my Rockets expectations. They've gone up. Thing
is if you've gone down, if you say AFC championship

(02:31:15):
or bust, that's that's a pretty tough You're one of
the final four teams that were best to in the AFC.
That's a that's a tough challenge, tough ask. But I
think for an organization that doesn't know what it's like
to even get there. Yeah, you want to say what
validates a season? Validating us losing at three thirty on
Saturday is just like what they've done for many, many,

(02:31:37):
many years. It's typical when you validate something, it's something
that's atypical, something that you don't normally see. And that's
why I think a lot of folks, at least as
my perspective is, you really want to say this season
was significantly different, even with all the different changes in
the offense and picking up some key defensive players and

(02:31:57):
you know, drafting a corner and lasted it has been
I had a really good season. It's do something you
haven't normally done before. I would say ten to seven
and into the divisional round, especially to where they were
mid season, especially where they were to we were after
the Ravens game. I think the season is a success
right now, as long as they don't, you know, get
thirty one to two by by the Chiefs, which I
don't think they will. So if they lose twenty one

(02:32:20):
to seventeen, you will still say, you know what it is,
it's given a B grade for the season. Yeah, B minus.
And you know what, bees get degrees just like c's
get degrees. But you know what you want to do,
don't You want to make a's. You want to go
to the honor roll. Yeah, you want to be in
the National Honor Society. You want to get that specific
smoking jacket, being the cool kids club. Yeah, you want

(02:32:43):
to be kum alaude. What positions you play? I believe
he's a punter, kum lare. Yeah, he's good. How many
inside twenty we're done? Seven one three, two one two
five seven, Dotty, I was a straight should begin with
my fault, totally mine. We weren't gonna blame anyone else. No,
I would have blamed me for sure. Seven one three,

(02:33:06):
two one two five seven ninety seven one three two
one two five, seven ninety. We you know, we've not
had one Texas person call today about the evangelists. Oh
you mean long Horns? Yeah, where's a long horned Doug.
We don't have to talk about it. I think we should.
Can I get one person though, to please chastise the
long Horns with that boneheaded play call them in the

(02:33:29):
red zone and are we already? I got a terrible, hot,
taky conspiracy theory about your longhorn. I can't wait. It's
up next on seven ninety. It's up next after I
talk about the fact that we are at January thirteenth.

Speaker 1 (02:34:37):
This is the Matt Thomas Show with Ross on four
Talk seven nineteen.

Speaker 23 (02:34:46):
Yeah, when you have the big player as CJ made it,
does you know lift everyone?

Speaker 14 (02:34:51):
Think?

Speaker 23 (02:34:51):
Just the energy, the morale of the entire team, even
though it's not going great when you see that one
play can it's the energy sparked the enthusiasm for our
entire team, and it was it was a difference maker
for us and our guys fit off.

Speaker 4 (02:35:07):
So yes, the play was drawn up perfectly bots the
center exchange. Ball's gonna take one bounce land properly into
Cjy's hands. Is gonna heap it and complete it for
forty five yards or whatever it was to Xavier Hutchison.
In the course of an NFL game mat sometimes you
will have to go off schedule and improvise and come

(02:35:27):
up big in those moments.

Speaker 17 (02:35:29):
And c J.

Speaker 4 (02:35:30):
Stroud did for the Houston Texas. He's mister big game improviser.
Well he's now two and one as a playoff starter. Yeah,
and the Texans feel like they're about tripling up the
number of wins over the Cowboys in the postseason over
the last ten years or so, but still haven't won.
And you can't really bring that card when you haven't

(02:35:51):
made an AFC champions You know you can't. That's why,
that's that's why you really got. You got so much
material over Dallas. You just can't bring that one to you.
It's a lame in hollow. It was fun in like
twenty twelve or whatever. They're like, yeah, take that, but
now it's been it's been twenty three years of the franchise.
You have not made a championship game. Stop bringing up
playoff success. Yep, all right, my teas, this is feels

(02:36:15):
very hot, Taky, I don't even know if I even
believe it. Oh, you don't even believe your own takes.
Let's I can admit it. What is this the other station? Sorry?

Speaker 9 (02:36:28):
Go ahead?

Speaker 4 (02:36:30):
Is there a part of you that believes a Sark
is not trusting of arch? Yes, I would totally agree
with that as I as I tweeted at sports rv Okay,
and I must have just seeped through your brain because

(02:36:50):
you're on a similar page to where I am. Everyone,
Matt I would have I would imagine you agree. Quinny
was a good nut. He is the complete definition of
good and out grade like goodnight grade gets you a
third round draft grade. This whole thought of him being
maybe an early round two it feels almost comical with

(02:37:14):
me for draft that's not even good with quarterbacks to
begin with. You see he's good, not great. I see
he's good, not great. The entire country draft people, everyone
sees he's good, not great. It is he that much
better than arch Manning? So that begs the question is
start being loyal to quin yours because quin Youewers came
back to the program and really helped found this new

(02:37:35):
era of Texas Longhorns football to where they're okay, not
achieving championship success, but in the final four of the
playoff two straight years and saying this is my guy.
I'm sticking with my guy. Is this A lot of
coaches go with upper class loyalty if it's close between
a red shirt freshman and a junior, but ross you're
at the University of Texas. Your expectations are to play

(02:37:56):
for a national championship. When you go to school like that,
and when you coach at a school like that, you
cannot have any sort of favoritism. This is not you,
El Monroe. Yeah, so that's what I'm asking is is
it either of those things? Or is it that Arch
isn't ready and it's got to be something? It's something

(02:38:17):
right because he won't play him? Is it because he's
almost fumble the ball before and he has fumbled before,
and he wants him to take care of the ball
better and he doesn't trust him.

Speaker 17 (02:38:25):
To do that.

Speaker 4 (02:38:25):
There is either a lacking of trust or a blind
loyalty to Quinn yours, or some sort of belief in
Quinn that he's greater than he is about this one
is a scenario which I think if it's if it's
even a little valas weak is if I put him
in there, I don't want argue a week after week
about whom I starting quarterback. Yeah, that you can't think
that way. You've got to put the best eleven out there,

(02:38:47):
regardless of position. Then why did he do it in
the first Georgia game. It's like if and then he said, Okay,
Quinn's my guy. Like I wish we had a mole
in the Texas practice. Maybe Arch just isn't all that
in a bag of cheap There's a lot of people
that talked about his five star status and possibly being
overrated because he came from a small school and now
it's the same school that the de Manning boys came from,

(02:39:09):
an Odell Beckham Junior. Others, whatever right it private to
private school boys get unfairly rated because of the big
numbers they put up it is. It does beg the
question how much does Steve Sarkisian believe in Arch Manning.
If he really believes him and thinks he's great, then

(02:39:30):
he would have put him in. It feels like I'm
just and I'm not just talking about just the game
against Ohio Sate, although again he really should have been
in the running play. But there have been times where
Ewers looks battered in bruised, looks like he could use
the series off to get his mojo back, and it
was never even considered. And especially against Georgia and the

(02:39:51):
SEC Championship game where they struggle against running quarterbacks. Somebody
with the mobility of Arch Manning would be nice to have. Yeah,
So I just didn't wanted. I didn't want to come
across as. You don't know, but that that's just a
very very from a distance viewpoint of maybe we've sold
Arch a little hard, or maybe maybe not the Texas

(02:40:12):
folks haven't, but maybe America has those that are the
Oh this arch Manning. You know it was gonna be
the great decision. Was he gonna go play where his
his uncle played, or he's gonna go play where his
other uncle played, or he's gonna go play where his grandfather.
I haven't seen enough and I almost made it a
gut to tell the truth about maybe we shouldn't be

(02:40:35):
thinking about arch Manning leading Texas to a to a
back to where they are in the next couple of years.
But Texas still is just so flush with talent. Your defense,
ROSSI was spectacular, championship, wasn't and kept your squad to
where it is. So I I couldn't. I couldn't do
that with a straight face and thinking that maybe Texas
would take a slight step back. Those are gonna be

(02:40:56):
right there the Mexican next year. Nine touchdowns, two picks
for Arch this year, but again, who is that? Again?
Four of them were against UTSA, one against Colorado State,
and two against ULM, so not so the resume isn't
really deepen into a it's Mississippi State. Well again bottom

(02:41:17):
n open enrollment kind of thing. Yeah, So I was
just like I thought that, I was thinking that. I
was like, I want to save this for the show
because I was afraid Ross was going to destroy me.
But you didn't destroy me.

Speaker 9 (02:41:28):
So I feel a.

Speaker 4 (02:41:29):
Little feel a little more validated. Yeah, I mean, we're
on this. It just begs the question, what is it about?
Is it that much belief in Quinn or Arch? Is
it ready? It's gonna be one of the other. Because honestly,
I think about this and this is this should never
go cross through a coach's mind. But we're in the
new world of financing. Arch is making a lot of
money with nil. If you want any rate of return

(02:41:52):
on that nil, you want your player out there? Oh
who's paying arches N? I l well, it's ACME motors,
Oh act mess school acting motors. Is like, man, I
know this losing investment to begin with, but damn, I
want to least my guy out there. At some point,
I don't know, Arch doing quite well for him, so
you know it's make donating the charity. But as I

(02:42:12):
said that, as I say that, could you could you
imagine NIL putting a pressure on a coach to put
a player in because of the bunny beings mad. You
can't do that, Although there was a didn't. Rick Barnes
have a quote over the weekend like you can't play
like this if you're getting paid what you're getting paid,
or something like that. Go find the quote.

Speaker 14 (02:42:32):
I I.

Speaker 4 (02:42:32):
You know, the one thing about NIL is is you're
going to have these coaches be able to be a
little more forthcoming with their criticism. You're getting paid six
seventy five to shoot forty one percent of the free
throw and get out of practice. Yeah. After the Rick
Barnes led Tennessee volunteers beat the Longhorns over the weekend,
Rick Barnes talking about Chaslin here, I told him, I said, quote,

(02:42:54):
if you're not going to do what you're getting paid
to do you sit over here. Oh, such a such
an NBA line. This is a professional sports line. The
new era of college sports is here, and now we're
gonna start seeing schools actually literally paying these players yeah,
so that guy got bench. Chaslin Air was bench in
the second half because he wasn't doing what he's paid
to do. They know what his payment is. No idea,

(02:43:19):
although in Tennessee you probably have to pay all the guys, right,
I mean, you're gonna be one of those, you know,
blue ribbon type schools with huge academics. You got to
pay everybody. Yeah, somebody's getting paid. Yeah, we talked about vcus.
Those guys are getting what to seventy seventy five it's
gotta be somewhere around there. For Tennessee, you would imagine, well,
they do have a twenty thousand seed arena now the

(02:43:41):
you know, so they'll they'll when the intitablea finally, finally,
these schools are gonna start eventually paying them. Now legally,
Tennessee won't worry about it because then they're filling up
one hundred thousand sea football teams in twenty thousand seat
basketball arenas. And they beat uh, you know, the common
folk in the SEC like Satura, and they got destroyed
by Ohi State in the playoffs. Oh well, all right,

(02:44:03):
believe it or not, Today it's all things about the
brand new coach of the New England Patriots. His name
is Michael Rabol. We'll hear about that. We are playing

Ross's NFL Rewind will be at twelve thirty, and then
I will jettison at one o'clock head up to Denver.
A lot of road games with the Rockets this month.
It's kind of pain in the ass. Honestly, it's been great.
You're such a fire. It's fine. It's busy January. Rockets

(02:46:55):
are winning, feeling good.

Speaker 12 (02:46:56):
You know what?

Speaker 4 (02:46:56):
And I and I, You and I share the same sentiment.
It's nice to have the Rockets winning. I like calling
winning basketball. You're a basketball junkie like myself. It gets
it's nice to have another sports team in town doing well. Honestly,
it gets me into more than the NBA as a whole.
I find myself on Thursday, Friday, whatever nights wants, ESPN,
T and T. I watch more just because the Rockets

(02:47:18):
are good. Yeah, I find I have the league pass
at the house and I will watch a lot of
dang you fancy come over if you want. I'm busy.
Watch me a little uh what I see last night?

Speaker 16 (02:47:29):

I could say, you're not telling the truth, but you

You'll say this, believe it same, it's erroneus full of bunkin,

(02:48:12):

so bad about screwing this up every time. Now I've

Speaker 15 (02:48:52):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (02:48:53):
His senior year in high school, Mike Rabel was all
stayed in Ohio at both the hammer throw and the
shot put Believe it or not?

Speaker 9 (02:49:02):
Believe it?

Speaker 4 (02:49:02):
No, Ross made that up. I'm sorry, but thank you
for playing. Let's go to ron on seven ninety run.
You're ready to play Believe It or not?

Speaker 9 (02:49:11):
Believe it.

Speaker 4 (02:49:12):
Mike Vrabel spent one year playing juco ball at Hocking
College before transferring to his childhood dream school of Ohio State.
Believe It or Not?

Speaker 9 (02:49:21):
Believe it?

Speaker 17 (02:49:22):
No?

Speaker 4 (02:49:23):
What it made you think? Of that junior college? She
literally googled Jucos in Ohio one of them. How good
for you? Seven one three, two one two five seven
ninety Kevin on seven ninety. Were ready to play believe
it or not believe it. Mike Vrabel caught ten passes
in his NFL career, all of them for touchdowns. Believe
it or not. That's to believe it. That is statement

(02:49:46):
number two for when Mike Vrabel frequently made Ohio State
Michigan wagers with Tom Brady. Brady wants had to wear
Rabel's jersey during practice. Believe it or not.

Speaker 17 (02:49:56):
Believe it?

Speaker 4 (02:49:57):
That's all right? Congratulations, Yeah, oh right, Kevin loves playing
believe it or not? And then we're gonna go to
the next show and the next game, the next next
week and the week after. Oh that's not nice. Maybe accurate,
but it's not nice. Paul on seven, aintie, Paul, you're
ready to play Believe it or not believe it. Following
the Patriots loss in the two thousand and seven Super Bowl,

(02:50:19):
Mike Rabel considered retirement, but was convinced by Bill Belichick
to come back for one more year with the team.
Believe it or not. That is correct. Ross made that
up Statement number two for the win. According to the
book All American Murder, Mike Rabel was the first Patriot
teammate to raise concerns about Aaron Hernandez to both Bill
Belichick and Robert Kraft Believe it or not?

Speaker 9 (02:50:42):
Believe it?

Speaker 4 (02:50:43):
No, he did nothing of the such gene On seven
ninety gen, what was your favorite part of today's radio show?

Speaker 9 (02:50:53):
Just happy about the Texas?

Speaker 4 (02:50:56):
While coaching at Ohio State, Mike Brabel was one so
fired up that he had buttered a player without a helmet.
His head was gashed and he required stitches. Believe it
or not?

Speaker 9 (02:51:07):
Believe it?

Speaker 4 (02:51:08):
Yeah, He's basically a statement number two for the win.
Mike Rabel's son, Tyler, played offensive line for Boston College
and went undrafted back in twenty twenty two. Believe it
or not.

Speaker 8 (02:51:23):
Not?

Speaker 9 (02:51:23):
Oh, but he did?

Speaker 8 (02:51:25):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (02:51:29):
And that is today's edition of Believe or Not? Ross.
How do we say farewell to the people? You know?
This room's feeling low energy, Matt oh, I can definitely
tell us a lot of low energy in this build.

Speaker 9 (02:51:37):
Energy.

Speaker 4 (02:51:38):
Why are we dragged through the days of low energy
