We've ever had ever asked you who's your college team?
Who are you root for on Saturday?
Speaker 1 (00:44):
Who?
Speaker 3 (00:46):
I'm a former Carolina pirate ball.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
That's right, that's right. I knew you were the ECU,
So you're okay. There you go. Nice the home of
what Jeff Blake, Right, wasn't Jeff Blake and East Carolina guy.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
Quarterback Jeff Blake, Robert Jones, Jars family, and Larry Shannon.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Uh yeah called the game there one time.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
I loved it. Yeah, it was awesome. That's great. ECU pirates.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
Right.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
There you go, and we're joined by the great Aaron
Wilsons coach.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
Was he really yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:20):
Great Chuckgana. Then I later covered Chuck when he was
even square for Baltimore, right, And I toldal I sa
a coach, he can only work with so much. But hey,
he played hard.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
And you know where he started.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
You know where he started his career as a graduate
assistant at USC Pegs.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Was there when I was there? Yeah? Awesome.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
He should talk about that in this time of U
n l V all the time. Yeah, you he was
in Miami, he recruited ed.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
Yep, that Wanstead north Turner, John Robinson connection with Miami.
John went to Vegas after he was at SC in
the Rams. So yeah, pretty cool man, good stuff. All right,
let's get to this NFL. Yeah, phenomenal he being I
love packs. Okay, so and his brother John's great dude too.
So with this in mind, we head up to Green Bay.
Do you believe home field advantage in Lambeau is like
(02:09):
it was when it was a definite home field advantage.
Is that the same as it's been or is it
a little more equal ground now that it's not the
same impact that they had twenty years ago.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
It's not the same It's not the same as the
bread farv or even the height of Aaron Rodgers era.
It is still some mystique about Lambeau, but I think
that the league has changed the emphasis of intimidating home environments.
Things like that is, you know, kind of going. I
would say the behavior of the fans, it's better in
(02:45):
almost every stadium, like like the old Cleveland stand. They
are throwing batteries and rock sets and stuff like that anymore. So, Yeah,
I think that's all gone downhill as far as you know.
This is amating atmosphere. Some places are louder than others,
but no, no, I don't feel that way. Yeah, cover
of games up there, and I think it's just it's
(03:08):
a normal road game.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
I like that, and that bodes well for a Texans
team who still hasn't played their most complete game finding
ways to win. I think, Aaron, you correct me if
I'm wrong. I'd love to hear how you feel. I
think it'll take their most complete game. I think this
is the most complete team they've played, and that includes
Buffalo at least this season so far. That's counting Minnesota too,
even though I think Minnesota is better. But I think
(03:31):
overall this may be is complete a team Minnesota is rising,
they're playing great defense. If they're not, they're in the
category of the most complete teams they've played this year.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
And the quarterback's really good.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
Right where Minnesota has one wide receiver that's the I
think the best in the game. Agreed, These guys have
a better quarterback, they have a better tailback and Josh s. Jacobs.
They have a diversity of targets. They have Jaden Reid
who is outstanding, and so they do so many things
very well. They have an emerging tight end, they have
(04:04):
a lot of weapons, and you know, they got defenses
pretty opportunistic. I think Nagra McKinney especially leads NFL interceptions.
So it is very difficult. And you know, the only
thing that really has been a problem for them is kicker.
So you look at Green Bay and I think it's
(04:24):
it's a surely difficult game.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
Sure is.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
Now, how do you with Josh Jacobs, who's a thumper,
like mixing, I mean, the two good quarterbacks, two really
good guys who can handle you know, inside outside and
handle a load. How do you play if you're defensively
this week? I mean, if you play two high safeties,
you're the run struggle and you've got Jordan Love's feet
as well. But Love can beat you in a lot
(04:47):
of different ways as well. So I would imagine this
is back to the old school thing. And it seems
like the running backs are making an impact in the
league this year big time. The devaluing of them is
sidestep because of the way they're playing U It's got
to be a game where you got to control the
line of scrimmage first, even though Jordan loves a major
threat in and out of the pocket, correct.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
Right, Well, they're going to have to have self performance
as New England self performance other weeks that they had,
like the way they play against Josh Allen. They're gonna
be that kind of game out of Will Anderson, Junior,
Neil Hunter and now Daniel Austrey. So you have those
guys that is the only real equalizer because they are
going to have some issues with the personnel behind them,
(05:29):
a lot of injuries, so you're looking at potentially losing
five starters and so that means, you know, as he's
all Shire, we can see he's in some pain. Can
he get it out of play? Does it make sense
for him to play, So you're gonna be down, you know,
your team captain potentially. I know that Kamari Lassiter and
(05:50):
Jimmy Ward are out of order reported that so they're out.
In case of last year, he's going to be out
not just this week but more weeks. And that's probably
the case for Jimmy war two. So you know you're
we down two defensive starts in the secondary. You're plugging
in at linebacker likely w ew It and Jake answer
those on Phillips since hearing To too is out with
(06:11):
the concussion. They playing with one hand behind their back
on defense on So it's gonna be tough, and it's
gonna mean that without a great name from those guys
and there the juniors, that's a tough day. I mean,
it's hard to win to shootout when you don't even
have your starting eleven on defense.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
No doubt.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
So do you do you expect this to be an
aggressive game from play calling for the Texans? Try to
limit possessions or is it business as usual? You're going
to kind of go with the hot hand. I know
they want to be two dimensional where you can run
it and throw it and have that great mix, but
an attack and that defense. And we mentioned that the
injuries on our side of the defense, so they're gonna
(06:52):
have to the backus. They're gonna have to come in
and play some really good football. But how do you
attack it from the offensive standpoint here? Because they've got
some explosiveness even without Nico.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
Collins, right, I think that you've got to still be
mildly aggressive, controlled aggression. But he cannot, you know, lose
the football. That's the recipe for disasters and interception. So
they got to be careful about the ball. You know,
there's been a little few more interceptions than usual from
DJ Stroud. He's thrown four normally, you know, has a
(07:24):
lower interception totals from that based on his track record
from last year. And I think controlled passing game, you
got to you gotta run the ball. You need balance.
That's what something what Bobby Sloke about was that's kind
of what they want to be, is a team that
can run the ball. You saw the big holes they
had against the Patriots. I think they got to pack
(07:45):
a running game for this one. This is gonna be
a Joe Mixon kind of game. But I don't see,
you know, them just getting wide open against tire Alexander
Xaber McKinney. I think they can move the ball. They
can certainly complete passes and you can find of light
down the field with a series of intermediate thrills, but
I don't know if the deep ball if it's there,
and if it's not, then you have to march down
(08:07):
the field manufacture drives, and I would think that'll be
kind of the game plans. So if you can pound
the football a little bit, you know they've got some
guys too. They've got no pretty good front seven and
overall decent defense, but some people have had success running
against Screen Bay, and I think they'll try to do that.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
Aside from the injuries that we know about this football team,
what's still missing? And I know that's weird to hear
a five and one team, but I think you and
I both agree we haven't seen their best yet in
a game. We've seen flashes of it, but a full
sixty minute good team domination against the team they're supposed
to beat, or that they can beat them because they've
(08:48):
got some equal talent on the other side. What's the
one thing that's going to prevent them from beating a
team like the Packers, Well, they have.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
Lows where they kind of don't keep it up on offense.
They've had enough penalties this year that when they don't
have penalties, it's kind of like an upset, like they're
get to paddle the back. That's that's a factor that
hasn't gone away. I think it's better. And you know,
you look at other issues they have, you know, just
(09:19):
the personnel problems. They're going to have. No one tested
Dangelo Ross last week without Kamar Lassiter, so they'll try
him this week. He's gonna get involved and you know,
so there are some of the the factors for Houston
that could hurt them in this football game. That said,
you know, they're five to one for a reason. Ye
(09:40):
expect them to be a good game. And I think
that you know, there's some matchups I like for the Texans,
especially against their offensive line. I have a lot of
confidence obviously well Anderson Junior, THESH Decnis Player of the
Week and Neil Hunter. But these guys have got to
eat on Sunday. I think those days where the defensive
(10:02):
line is going to gott to carry you and they
get a you know, they put a huge investment of
this defensive line. They got to earn their money.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
All right.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
When we come out of the game and we wake
up on money and are talking about this, will we
be saying one of these two things. This team, whoever
it is, or you can name the team you feel
this team, uh made many more chunk plays in the
big explosives than the other team. Or this team dominated
the line of scrimmage, running the football, that's why they won.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
Which one would you take?
Speaker 3 (10:33):
Green Bay?
Speaker 2 (10:35):
And you would say, and if those two, you'd say
they beat it with big players running the football.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
Okay, bigger plays, more explosives.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
Okay, I think they're more vulnerable to that than them
pounding the ball.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
And who wins green Bay? Close?
Speaker 3 (10:53):
Uh? Yeah, I think relatively close? Uh certainly under ten points.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
So a game in the twenties read Bay like one type,
give me a score and.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
Twenty four to seventeen twenty four Bay touch For the record,
I picked I picked Minnesota to beat them last time.
So yeah, I don't you know. I'm not saying that
he can't beat them, just saying this is my opinion
of how it'll go. I think the injuries on defense
proved to be a factor. Yep, little game. You know,
I'd even mentioned, like fully, Potocosi might be out with
(11:28):
the shoulder.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
They've got a lot of guys.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
We're going to see practice and blow receive if anybody
kind of is a surprise and gets out there. But
I know that you know, a lot of those guys,
like one, guys that concussions, they can't play. So it's
gonna be you know, the majority of those guys that
we're talking about can't play in this game.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
Tough test at the line of scrimmage, running it and
defending Jordan love play action could become big as well. Hey,
great stuff, brother, Enjoy and we'll look forward to our
conversation next week.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
Always grateful to have you on.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
Thanks for talking you too.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
That's Aaron Wilson. We'll come back and discuss. I think
a lot of people and on tear leaning towards the Packers.
Times right for them to have their most complete game,
