Speaker 1 (00:02):
Saulsbury. Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Sewn Salisbury to usc truth, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
Brian Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sewan Salisbury Show.
Shawn Salisbury, Brian A Lima, Manuel Elmore. Rockets beat the
Bucks last night over at the Toyota Center. Astros rolling
along with spring training. Cam Smith, the Big Time Prospect,
(00:36):
hit two bombs yesterday for the Astros. Demico Ryan's over
at the Combine. He spoke to the media yesterday as well,
talking about improvements they need to make.
Speaker 4 (00:47):
Sean Trippley, what's happening? Good morning? What's going on? To
walk out?
Speaker 5 (00:51):
There is brutal, man, Ye, patches of it. I didn't
get it all the time. I got a little bit
out where I was. The freeway was pretty open for
me on I ten. I just should have checked in
with sky Mike.
Speaker 4 (01:03):
Yeah, where's sky Mike Man? I haven't seen him partying.
Probably probably on the helicopter this morning.
Speaker 5 (01:07):
It's probably just probably changing, you know, making sure traffics
were flowing throughout the country.
Speaker 4 (01:13):
He's got a nation to please. Oh, sky Mike does
Diana TROSSI retiring by the way from the WNBA grace
of all time.
Speaker 6 (01:21):
Man.
Speaker 5 (01:21):
Yeah, great, great career she had. Man, what a career.
Unbelievable college career. It's rare that college careers match pro
careers or vice versa, where you dominate both. She dominated both.
What a great player. Ucon baby, Yeah, what a great player.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
The uh you know, as we will continue to you know,
talk about excuse me, uh astro spring training and everything
that comes with that. But over in the NBA, the Rockets,
UH physical game last night against the Bucks. They win
that one. The Suns and Grizzlies one fifty one to
eight was a final in that game. Yeah, I didn't
(01:58):
even see it. Was there overtime? No? Yes it was
there was I thought there was. Josh sent them the overtime.
Speaker 5 (02:03):
Okay, how do you have a if that was a
four quarter game with no overtimes, that would have been ugly.
So I saw the score, but I didn't pay attention
to the game, so I figured it was overtime.
Speaker 4 (02:16):
Was there was just one or two overtime? Was there
one overtime? One? That's still poor? Here we go, Yeah,
one extra period. Two hundred ninety nine combined points were
the most in an NBA game this season. Twenty two ties,
twenty two lead changes. So was zero defense two ninety
nine combined points. Yeah, that's ridiculous, man, that's your NBA.
(02:38):
There you go. That is absolutely ridiculous. That's just literally
no defense. And hey, you're Lakers, man. Look out.
Speaker 5 (02:47):
They're better with the Luca than they were with Anthony
Davis City Star because he's a better player at this
stage and he's starting to tune up. And I didn't
think the Lakers had a shot at winning another one.
But I'll tell you what, when they if they stay
healthy and they're taking care of their business man, they're
dangerous in the West. And it's a good time to
win the West. It really is. I know Oklahoma City
(03:09):
doesn't play, but I'm just telling you that. You know
he may old Lebron may have one more in him. Man,
he may even have more than one. But it was
the Mavericks fed to a what everybody thought. Lakers win
the trade, and it's they're dangerous, very dangerous.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
They did a tribute video for Anthony Davis last night.
They tweeted out tribute to a Lakers legend, Anthony Davis.
Speaker 5 (03:36):
Okay, I saw this question asked or I saw somebody
pose this, not even gout Anthony Davis. But as much
as I love the Lakers, how long has Lebron been
a Laker?
Speaker 4 (03:45):
Now? Five years something like that, it's been that long.
Did he go in twenty twenty? He was there in
twenty twenty, right when they won the Bubble Championship.
Speaker 5 (03:53):
I thought he was there the year before that. He's
a good five years. I think it hasn't have been
five years. Man, take time flies.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
He got to LA in Yeah, it's bless you. Twenty eighteen,
twenty nineteen was his first year. So he's been there
one two, three, four, five six seven, seven years, seven years.
Speaker 5 (04:17):
I'm not talking about his whole career, but in a
Laker uniform. Has Lebron done more for the Lakers in
a uniform than Elgin Baylor, Jerry West, Abdul Jabbar, Magic Johnson,
Wilt Chamberlain, Shack O'Neil, Kobe Bryant. It's a great I mean,
you think about the Lakers obviously, is the history of
(04:38):
that roster of Celtics and Lakers. Yeah, and there's more,
but we didn't I didn't mention James Worthy, Jamal Wilkes,
any of those guys. So I'd ask you, is Lebron
does he belong on the Lakers five best players of
all time?
Speaker 4 (04:55):
No, I don't think so either.
Speaker 5 (04:57):
Now as far as if you're talking about of all
those guys of all time, of all counting his whole career, everywhere, Yes,
I'm talking about in a Laker uniform.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
He ain't above Abdul Jabbar. You can forget that.
Speaker 5 (05:08):
It's not above Kobe, you can forget that. Not about
Magic Johnson, you can forgive that. I don't think he
can be above Shack And I don't think he's above
Wilt Chamberlain. And he's not above the logo Jerry West.
And I'm a I'm a Lebron James Uh much respect
for his game. I marvel at how what a physical Yeah,
(05:31):
it's just it's crazy. Now, I'm not big on Lebron's
some of his his his rabbit ears and all that stuff.
And but but I'm talking I'm compartmentalizing the guy away
from basketball for me, is I can? I mean, he's
made a difference in charity and all that. I'm not
talking about if he's a good guy or not. I
don't know the depth of his goodness. But sometimes he
makes my eyes roll because he thinks he needs to
(05:53):
immerse himself into everything, yep, and then disappears. And some
of the things he said that he never had to
you know, account for, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (06:01):
Plus he loves to read books.
Speaker 5 (06:02):
Right, So, but all that stuff I have major respect for,
you know, the difference he's made and for the the
impact he's made in basketball. Guy's been a phenomenal player.
But as a Laker, he does not belong in the
top five. Were saying that he should be.
Speaker 4 (06:17):
I saw something that had him they left out West Chamberlain.
Oh yeah, he had. I saw it on social media,
and I'm like, no, no.
Speaker 5 (06:26):
No, he is not a He's not He's not a
He's probably seventh or eighth on the list. I can
the starting five Lebron ain't it when it comes to
their impact in a Laker uniform. So as much what
are you talking about his overall career, No doubt his
impact in the Laker uniform. You can't put him in
(06:47):
the top five Lakers of all time. Yeah, he just can't. No,
you can't. So he may not won't believe that, But
I hate to say it. It's it's it's a stone
cold fact.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
Yeah, I just feel like with the legend that you
you named, he's not He's not up there. He isn't
now in the grand scheme of basketball, he's arguably the
greatest player ever. Yeah, but as far as his career
with the Lakers, it does not compare to the career
of Shaq, Kobe, Magic, Johnson, Wilt Abdul Jabbar, and Jerry West,
(07:18):
Elgin Bayley, Elgen Bayle.
Speaker 5 (07:19):
There you go, those are all the legends. I think
that's eight of them. Yeah, he could make team. He
can probably he'll He'll make the second team. There are
ten guys out there. He makes the second team. He
ain't making the first. But that being said, when we
shift our gear to now, they're dangerous in the Western Conference. Yeah,
and Luca, Luca was a huge git, huge git. Matter
(07:43):
of fact, Luca with Lebron, Lebron gives you a better
chance than Luca with Kyrie to.
Speaker 4 (07:47):
Win a championship.
Speaker 5 (07:49):
Let's see, Kyrie and Anthony Davis have less a chance
to win a championship than Luca and Lebron do they even?
Speaker 4 (07:56):
Make no mistake about that. Nineteen points, fifteen rebounds, twelve
for Luca last night.
Speaker 5 (08:03):
Look at that impact and triple double without having to
score thirty.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
Yeah, pretty Ace, He's pretty good. Lebron James had twenty
seven and twelve. Austin Reeves like sixty, Austin, He's still
doing it. Austin Reeves baby dropping twenty. Shout out to
the basic white guys. Yep, let's go.
Speaker 5 (08:21):
You gotta have one of those guys, you know, just
there's there's a basic like there's a lot of basic
white guys floating around in the NBA, but there's nothing basic.
The truth is there's nothing basic about Luca or Austin Reeves.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
Reefs. Here's a good one for you, Ruey Hashimura Lawler.
There you go. That's a good name for you. It
sounds like a golfer, Rueye Ruey sounds I sound like
I trying to say Rory Ruy Ruy Hashi mora.
Speaker 5 (08:52):
Yeah, it got guarantee for the Lakers, got game good good,
Uh just a he's a good compliment player, man.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
And then you know you look right here with the Rockets, man,
they got after it. Last night with the Bucks, Aman
Thompson got fouled or excuse me, got ejected for hard
foul and Giannis Antetokumbo Jannis had twenty seven and ten.
You had Jalen Green with twenty five, Alpern Shingoon with
twenty three and eleven, Dylan Brooks sixteen, Tarry Easton twelve
(09:24):
coming off the bench, Jabari Smith Jr. He's back in action.
He had thirteen.
Speaker 5 (09:29):
Yeah, a lot of double figure scores, turning in some
star power on this team. Man, I like it, big
one and you know, amen for Amn. They really they
honestly they are. They're gonna be looked at as a
team the next few years where like when people talk
(09:50):
about it in other cities, all Houston come down, all
they're loaded.
Speaker 4 (09:52):
Yeah, that's where you're gonna start hearing. And I'm here
for it.
Speaker 5 (09:56):
Impressive to watch and I'm anxious with when Shin Gun
actually matures. I mean, think about it. He's still in the
infancy of his game, as are I mean, we can
roll through as is the majority of this dominant part
of the roster. So but Brooks keeps doing his thing.
They got some compliments as well. They they're probably not
(10:20):
ready for June as an NBA team yet, probably not,
but they are going to impact the postseason.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
I fully believe that. How old do you think alperin
shun is he's like twenty four, twenty three, he's twenty two.
Speaker 5 (10:34):
Yeah, he's just he's I mean, we feel like we've
been talking about him for like eight years, but he
is basically still learning how to play basketball. And he's
twenty two years old. And he's got massive game, as
witnessed by his All Star parents, you know, them voting
him in this year.
Speaker 4 (10:49):
So that's been good.
Speaker 5 (10:50):
Yeah, he can play now. That is I've been I've
felt that last year and I said I think he's
best player on the team all around.
Speaker 4 (10:58):
Now I didn't say the most explosive.
Speaker 5 (11:00):
And the All Star voters felt the same way this year.
The guy puts up numbers, man, and he's a good player. Yeah,
he was learning, you know, a little commitment on the
defensive end. They're getting more out of that because then
a lot of that's the culture of the coach and
how what he's brought to the table. Yeah, and I
love that All Star game.
Speaker 7 (11:16):
Man.
Speaker 5 (11:16):
Yeah, you get elected to it, but who the hell
would want to play in it? But they, I mean,
don't get me started on the trashy part of the NBA. Season,
which is the All Star Game, not the players, the
game and the way it's structure.
Speaker 4 (11:32):
It's just gimmick after gimmick.
Speaker 5 (11:34):
We just keep trying to look for him instead of
just play basic basketball. Just go play defense. We'll raise
the pot, bring back some competition, have a little pride
like that. Do you know how you get to the
players is when you say, hey, man, I guess you're
not as competitive as Jordan was.
Speaker 4 (11:48):
Are you? Oh? Yeah? To their face.
Speaker 5 (11:50):
Yeah, you say say, oh we really, Oh I guess
Larry Bird would have chewed you up and spit you
out if you played an All Star game and a
humiliated you, Oh really, Bird ain't got anything on me.
M J got anything. I mean, we'll prove it. Place
of defense. Don't clear out a lane so a guy
can go dunk. Contest is dunk if he's got the
balls to take it to the rack. Yeah, I'm honestly,
(12:10):
And if that means so those guys took it serious
and that's the way to get out of skin. Oh yeah,
remember those old old heads that you guys like to
call him. Durant likes to use that phrase all the
time when he frofers to like Barkley and all those
old old head they criticized his old head.
Speaker 4 (12:25):
He's an old head.
Speaker 5 (12:26):
I'll garant ask to you as good as Kevin durant
Is one time down the floor and Gary Payton even
though he's undersized, or uh, you're getting a little a
load to Rick Mahorn or these guys who want to
compete in an All Star game. Uh take it in there once,
especially when you're one of those hot shots. Right, They're
gonna make sure you understand who what league you're playing in.
So yeah, and not that they're talented enough to do it,
(12:49):
but I would love them to have a shift in
paradigms to say, you know what fellas, No, no, no,
We're going to give the fans a real basketball game
just once in this new era of All Star games.
Let's give it to him just one time, because we
keep hearing the old heads talk about all and right now,
in an All Star game, give me the five from
the eighties or nineties against this group. Talent wise, this
(13:11):
group can compete with anybody just sheer grit on an
All Star game. They get their ass handed to him,
say I always got to do is get in there,
Hey man, Kobe took this serious because every time down
the floor he wanted to defend you and wear your
ass out to prove that he could dominate not only
during the season, but beat the best in the world
in that game. Yeah, and that's how you get under
(13:33):
their skin.
Speaker 4 (13:34):
But the question is will they take it that serious.
Speaker 5 (13:36):
I'd love to see them once take their talent to
match the effort they put in with three minutes to
go in a playoff game one time, and for a
quarter in an All Star game.
Speaker 4 (13:47):
I don't think we want not say it. You won't
let it be nice? Yeah, it would be nice to
be nice, be entertaining as hell. It would be nice
more than what we see now. There's no doubt about it.
Someone else that's entertaining. Cam Smith for the Houses Astros
spring training rolling along. Yesterday the Astros beat the Mets.
Cam Smith had himself a day. What happened we'll discuss next.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
The Jean Salisbury Show continues.
Speaker 4 (14:15):
The Astros taking on the Nationals today in West Palm.
Twelve oh five is the first pitch camp. Smith yesterday
had himself a day. Two bombs three RBIs. He is
a aircraft carrier man. He swings it well, good, miss, Yeah.
Speaker 5 (14:37):
I wonder what kind of impact it'll have if he
continues to do this in spring training? Of why not
let him stay up and just rake on the major
league level?
Speaker 4 (14:49):
See what you got?
Speaker 5 (14:51):
I mean, why not plug him right into the big boys.
Maybe he's made for it.
Speaker 4 (14:57):
I don't.
Speaker 5 (14:58):
I've never quite understand said why it's a mandate that
somebody had if they Okay, are we worried kind of
like we are with first round quarterbacks? That yeah, if
I play him too soon, I'm worried about his fragility
and that, oh he'll if he play him too soon
and he gets hit, it might ruin his confidence. Well,
should have drafted him in the first place, then, So
(15:21):
I've always wanted if a guy goes through and impresses
in spring and they say great, especially on a team
right now, that you can't I'm even including jose Al Tuovy.
Now he's going to play great. But if it wasn't
for Josel two Vay's bat, we'd be utterly concerned. Oh yeah,
him going to left field, because you say, okay, what is.
Speaker 4 (15:39):
It going to be?
Speaker 5 (15:39):
And I know he's he's probably it looks to me
and from all sounds of it that he's that he's like,
it's almost like he's rejuvenated, starting something with something new.
It like adds youth to your life, and so he'll
he'll be fine. But if he wasn't jose Al too
By the great hitter, and he was just moving, he
was an average player, and you're moving the left field,
(16:00):
you'd be even more concerned. His bat makes you feel
better about his left field, and he may end up
being thriving out there, but we don't know. You sure
as hell don't know what you're gonna get offensively in centerfield,
and you don't know what you're going to get offensively
in right field, and quite frankly, none of them are
going to have arms that make you go wow. So
with this, I've just never understood the concept. Maybe I
(16:22):
think different. If I'm playing football and I'm coaching a
team and the freshman quarterbacks better than the varsity starter,
I'm playing the friend play him, I.
Speaker 4 (16:32):
Have no problem.
Speaker 5 (16:33):
Well, aren't you worried that if he throws an interception
the first half? What if it ruins it for the
rest of his high schoolreer career? Then he was going
to get ruined anyway. And you tell that person says
that your mindset sucks. Yeah, if that's the way goes,
because I guarantee the freshman quarterbacks mindset isn't thinking like that, right,
And my job as a coach would be to convince
him not to think like that, but to think like
(16:54):
I tell them all, oh, you're fresh to gett ready,
and it's okay to play freshman or JV ball, but
I want you thinking like you can start on the varsity.
Preparing like you're gonna start on the varsity coming right
out of the eighth grade.
Speaker 4 (17:07):
Why not? It sets your side time, But be prepared
that okay.
Speaker 5 (17:12):
If it's not gonna if it's not a reality as
a freshman, that's okay. But I want him to train
like they own the job. I didn't say, act like
you own it. Train like you own it, and then
when you get there, make sure that the guys around
you know that you own it by performance, not by
talking about it.
Speaker 4 (17:30):
And so the same thing here.
Speaker 5 (17:32):
If this guy continues to prove he can handle major
league pitching throughout spring training, and I know it's spring training,
but well let's send him down for a couple months.
How about bringing him up for a couple months, see
how that works. With the availability to send him down.
He may never go that. We've seen it happen with
Bob Horner. There's guys that have just come up right
out of the blue, you know, even if it's been
(17:54):
a minimal amount of time. Bryce Harper was in the
minor league but a minute, and I understand even Harper
and Trout go to the minor leagues.
Speaker 4 (18:02):
I get it, But is it a rule.
Speaker 5 (18:05):
Does it have to be a mandate that yep, you
know what, he's automatically got to go down. Well, if
he's a big stud and he proves a man I
can handle this, go test his ass.
Speaker 4 (18:13):
Especially on a team.
Speaker 5 (18:14):
If there was ever a time that young guys could
make a major league roster, it's now on the and
they we haven't able to go to spring training saying
that very often on this franchise because of their success
and veterans in a lot of positions, and it's a
hard team, and it's been a hard team to get
through to make the roster because the guys in front
(18:36):
of you are producing at your position and I'm just
one of those. Yes, send him to the miners. Let's
make sure he says, starts at double A. Okay, Well,
if he proves he can rake there, why can't we
go the other way? Let him go up there and
see for me it's like anything else. Go to the
batting case, rightan just for fun on a pitching machine
(18:57):
and put it at one hundred and you know you'll
you'll shock you how good quickly that gets you? Yeah,
but then put it at eighty five and watch how
you rake?
Speaker 4 (19:08):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (19:09):
Why does it always have to be I'll go to
eighty five. I'm not saying miles proper, but you get first.
But yeah, and then all of a sudden, get Up says, whoo.
You're never going to get used to a buck up
in your kitchen and a guy who can that can
maneuver this. I don't care if you've been playing it
for fifteen years. Those guys that could throw strikes and
hit the black you're always going to struggle with it.
I mean, they're they're good. Listen, Greg Maddox is going
to get you out. Yeah, But I don't understand if
(19:31):
the guy's mentally tough and he's proved he's at the
physical prowess to handle pitching, if he does or not him,
anybody why it's a necessity that we can't just say,
you know what, why can't you start with the big boys?
Speaker 4 (19:45):
Why not?
Speaker 5 (19:47):
It's a parent that we can take a high school
kid and turn him into a I mean, there are
high school kids that would leave right now to go
to the NBA and then and they can adjust in
a hurry. Why can't we do that? And I know
it doesn't happen to all of them. But the leisure
about baseball is ask uh, ask the big picture that
(20:07):
we keep talking about. Force Whitley, Ask him how that
feels to be. He's been down there a long time,
and hopefully he's ready for My point is, it doesn't
feel to me like you always have. That has to
be the mandate. If a guy proves he can rake,
and on this roster, there's an opening if you compete
and you see it, can't you go opposite of it
and say, what are you worried that if he comes
(20:28):
up here in his first fifty at Patch struggles. Oh,
he said, oh well that's okay, go back down to
double or to triple A, go rake in sugar Land.
You'll be back up. He's one of about eight million
that have done. It did not not that have gone
right from pulling, you know, getting coming out of college
or high school and playing or college after a couple
of years and playing baseball, getting drafted out of high school.
Speaker 4 (20:50):
I don't mean that.
Speaker 5 (20:51):
But if he proves that he can handle it, let's
give him a little more credit mentally that he can
handle failure.
Speaker 4 (20:56):
He'll face it, but he'll face failure. Okay.
Speaker 5 (20:59):
Would you rather fail at sugar Land or failed in
the major leagues? I'd rather get the big leagues right
and and think, Okay, you know what, I was hitting
two twenty, but I so now I get it. Yeah,
now I get because you can Rake and sugar Land
and still come up here in struggle.
Speaker 4 (21:14):
Oh bad? Ask does Ze the right? Ask Joey Loberfio
when he was here, that's right.
Speaker 5 (21:18):
But it's almost like, oh, I'm gonna I'm getting Oh,
you're moving me up. It's like when you're a kid
and they move you up too great because you're you're
just better, and they move you up. Or your your
dad tries to fudge your birth certificate and you and
you play well enough, yeah, or you struggle you say, oh,
now I get with that. Twelve year old and I'm
nine in his league. Now I know what he's trying
to do. Yeah, that's no different than when they're this age.
(21:40):
So for me, I understand. But you don't have everything.
Doesn't have to be.
Speaker 4 (21:45):
Some guys are outside the box players and thinkers.
Speaker 5 (21:48):
I don't know if he is or not, but I
can tell you what the way we see a skill
set in the way people talk about him, maybe he's
the different one and why not so?
Speaker 4 (21:56):
And I don't know.
Speaker 5 (21:56):
If he hits two twenty in spring, maybe he's not ready.
But if he proves he is, why do we automatically
get it? We're so worried about people's fragility it drives
me nuts. I mean, you already know such a soft country.
Did we automatically think one guy gets to do it?
That one guy goes through adversity and his career's ruined.
Speaker 4 (22:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (22:14):
Now for the guy who goes to adversity and his
career's ruined, he was never going to lead you to
a championship anyway. Exactly at some point in time he
would have wilted.
Speaker 4 (22:21):
Right. I like to find out early what kind of
wilt factor you got. We already know that the discussion
that we're going to have if if he starts and
because it was it was said when he was traded
here that he was going to be assigned to double A. Okay,
so now if he has a good spring, he's either
he's probably going to start in triple A. If he
(22:42):
goes down there any rakes and continues to do well,
the conversation is going to be we'll bring him up,
bring him up, bring him up. What are you waiting on?
What are you waiting on? So if he has a
good spring, why not just put him on the big league? Ross?
Speaker 5 (22:55):
I have no idea, And you know what bothers me,
just what you said when they traded for and I
know these guys see once again, you don't have to
do things. This is when it gets back to why
I'm not an old head or a boomer or what
have you, and certain rules. I think, why do we
got to do it the way they did in two thousand? Yeah,
why do you got to do it the way they
did in nineteen eighty five? Maybe every now and again
(23:17):
there's a guy that's different, and if he's mentally tough,
the physical skills will rear their head. Here's what they
traded for him. What's the first thing you said? They said,
we're designats of double Why why is it an automatic?
We're assigning him to double A just because you know, sometimes,
guess what, when you're going upstairs, do you automatically take
one at a time, or every now and again when
(23:37):
you're feeling energetic to.
Speaker 4 (23:38):
Do you take trips?
Speaker 5 (23:40):
So I just don't get we almost put a vice
grip on there. It's almost like we build in limitations.
Why don't you give him the whole, the big picture,
and then let them make it more compact and compressed
as opposed to because I could. I'll tell you what's
worse for confidence if you ask me go to triple
(24:01):
A or double A and struggle and get your ass
kicked there because in your thought processes, I'm never getting
up there. How about get up there, have some success
and some struggles and say I get it. Okay, they
sent me back down, But the next time that'll be different.
Because I can tell you what highlights don't help. You
got to learn it with you. And you know what
stand in the batting practice, soft toss ain't doing you
any good against one hundred. So I just to to me,
(24:25):
maybe I'm a different thinker, and I'm not saying everybody
that's everybody just but that's my point is everybody doesn't
have to be looked at the same. Every guy that's
like designated for Double A maybe a guy you look
at it and say I scouted him wrong. That guy
ain't a double A player. That guy's ready for the
big leagues. Now I don't know if he is, but
we got to get out of this, that this drudgery
(24:46):
of limiting lineup ten players. If they all thought the same,
then why don't we just play AI baseball. They don't
all look or think the same, So maybe I think different.
But it was impressed yesterday and it's one game. But
just as your I said at the end of if
he's doing this and he's dominating pitching, why not.
Speaker 4 (25:04):
Yeah, he might be the guy. Josh Beckett is one
that I remember vividly. I was young because he grew
up two neighborhoods over or a couple of blocks away
from me, graduated from my sister because he went to
Spring High School, so I grew up watching him. He
was in the minor League Sean for like a year.
I know he was in the minor leagues for two
thousand and then he got brought up in two thousand
and one by the Marlins. Was because he was different,
(25:27):
he was ready.
Speaker 5 (25:28):
Well, then there's the Todd. I think it was Todd
Van Poppoel who was a pitcher. Tell you, I think
he might have been a Texas guy, high draft pick.
Didn't I don't think he spent much time in the miners,
if any at all, briefly came up and his career
was never with the expectations. We Worthy moved to the
bullpen later in his career, but he didn't spend a
lot of time. I think it was Van poppel if
I'm not mistaken, and he was so highly regarded, and
(25:51):
his career didn't turn out with a hype, and so
you're gonna have one of those two. But I got
news for you. Josh Beckett did. He was just like
Josh Beckett. He spent barely a year in the minor league, right,
and his career didn't turn out the way that the
hype was, but he still played. He played for a while.
Beckett's turned out to be a big time career. So
that that's the only way to find out is to
throw their ass into the fire. Let's find out, especially
(26:13):
if they've proven they can handle it. So we come
back in eight.
Speaker 4 (26:15):
Yeah again, it was just one game, but man, dude,
the pop the pops there. The looks good obviously, the
physical prowess.
Speaker 5 (26:21):
And he's gonna strike out three times in a game too,
for sure, A big deal. Yeah, you know who's not
striking out? Jbar and Barbara jam right, Dan Man. Also,
I always do.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
Well.
Speaker 5 (26:32):
I can go, I could eat a I can eat
brisket at breakfast, biscuit burrito, I can eat brisket, throw
it all on me, potatoes out at seven in the morning.
Sounds finding me. And they got everything. Location when it
comes to parking and access to to and from that
ballpark right there, easy at the Dyke in Field, Dyke
and Park. What a great place and what great customer serce.
(26:52):
I love that place, man, have been there, and uh
it's one of those places you go even if there's
no game.
Speaker 4 (26:57):
They've got a beautiful pit room. Central Texas style brisket
meets housemade sausage. My gosh, remember what good that Cheddar
sausage was? Some chad? Yeah, man, you like chedd you
like sausage?
Speaker 5 (27:08):
Who doesn't want a cheddar sausage on their mouth on their.
Speaker 4 (27:12):
List, especially from from a good group.
Speaker 5 (27:15):
Following up by brisket a nice drink who doesn't want
that wash it down? There's some great stuff, but they
got it all to jbarm bro Yeah, no doubt. They
got a brunch menu that is off the charge. Saturday
and Sunday eleven am to three pm. Gets you some emosas,
some Bloody Mary's. They've got some badass breakfast food there
as well. Of course, they got a full lineup of barbecue.
They've got live music events too. To zero one Leland Street,
(27:38):
like Sean said, is a couple of blocks away from
Toyota Center and Dyke in Park two two zero one
Leland Street. Jbarnbbq dot com Shawn is a perfect place
to go pregame, postgame.
Speaker 4 (27:49):
We're just heading downtown and get you some of the
best barbecue around. Uh yeah it is jbar mbbq dot com.
Stop missing out, head over there. Tell them Sewn and
Brian sent you jbar m Barbecue. The Sean Salmsbury Show continued, Roddy,
good morning.
Speaker 8 (28:08):
Good morning guys. I hope that uh cam Smith isn't
singing that song at the beginning of the season's killing
time is killing me. If he's ready to be brought up,
and bring him up, That's what I wanted to ask
you about. Wasn't there or isn't there a rule or
if the rules still exists? It held George Springer down.
(28:29):
It also held Carlos Carea down. UH bared about the
Super two two years and they had the if they
were brought up, something about starting the clock.
Speaker 5 (28:40):
That was the same thing that happens with with Chris,
the third big from Chicago who played saf UH won
the m v P Chris Chris Bryant.
Speaker 4 (28:49):
I remember that.
Speaker 5 (28:50):
I was at spring training in Chicago in Scottsdale at
a Cubs game and he was up for his first
at bat and the buzz we were talking about going
in because they talked about how and then we got
actually talking to Cub fans.
Speaker 4 (29:03):
Yeah, man, we're talking about what a star he's going
to be. But that bringing him up.
Speaker 5 (29:07):
They were going to delay it, and they did so
they could what it bought him another year.
Speaker 4 (29:12):
Or something in the contract. I don't know the exact day.
Speaker 5 (29:16):
I know what the rule is, but I wouldn't be
able to describe the rule to detail or how long
or but that was they had to hold him back.
He was clearly ready, but for selfish reasons, for the
the reasons favor of the organization, not the player. Okay,
So whether that exists or whatever, it was, it super too,
(29:36):
whatever it's called. But that first time I really paid
much attention to it because it was so allowed, was
the Chris Bryant situation. I'm sure it happened before then,
but I can remember distinctly sitting there in Scottsdale at
Salt Riverfields and that that was being discussed with a
group of people that were Cubs fans and sitting around
and we indulged in the conversation.
Speaker 4 (29:55):
So maybe that's the same thing.
Speaker 5 (29:57):
But the truth of the matter is if a guy's ready,
let him up, let improve mentally and physically, he can
handle it. I don't like, well, we got to automatically
start him somewhere.
Speaker 4 (30:06):
Why arbitrary? Yeah, arbitrary, no doubt, no doubt, you know.
Speaker 8 (30:09):
And it's funny because, of course, you can go all
through baseball history and find stories of guys who were
brought up too soon.
Speaker 7 (30:16):
And guys who were held down.
Speaker 8 (30:18):
The classic story of course is the story of Willie Mays.
And he went over twenty something or other, went into
Durocher's office bawling, you know, send me down, and Leo,
who was probably one of the meanest, toughest managers, the son,
you ain't going down, You're ready, you're here.
Speaker 5 (30:37):
You know, good foresight by Leo Durocher. Huh that turned
out that one turned out pretty good.
Speaker 7 (30:44):
Pretty good.
Speaker 4 (30:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (30:45):
And also Pooholes came up.
Speaker 7 (30:47):
What was he at twenty when he came up?
Speaker 8 (30:50):
Albert Poohles came up from a ball, So, I mean,
you just never know. And at least it seems that
Dana Brown is willing to try to give guys as
a shot at pushing him. So if if the guys ready,
I don't know where you have to put him. If
you have it doesn't matter where you put him. If
he can swing it, bring him up.
Speaker 4 (31:09):
Yeah, with your appreciate the college going. Yeah, if Cam
Smith's ready, man, like, let's let's get him up. Let's
get it going. That's not just him, do Enzo. Is
he gonna make the major league roster? You know what
I mean? Like, there's these other prospects, So I'm excited
to see Uh, these young guys and you know kind
(31:29):
of where they fit in. But man, there's there's gonna
be some decisions that are gonna have to be made
because you've got some guys that are vying for spots.
Brendan Rodgers did I don't know, did you buy a chance?
See the couple of the plays that Giirmo made yesterday
at shortstop? I did not. Oh my goodness, back in
in the hole whosing a dude he's playing, he's playing
short veteran infielder, didn't see him. Yeah, man, he's uh
(31:55):
watching some college hoops.
Speaker 5 (31:56):
I didn't even pay attention to much nighttime baseball or
baseball at all.
Speaker 4 (32:00):
It was outside highlights. Yeah, you were probably in the
planner boxes at noon.
Speaker 5 (32:06):
Actually, they had to do some clearing out and the
landscaper had to come over and we got to add
some mulch and some extra dirt to the to the property.
Speaker 4 (32:14):
You have a landscaper coming out.
Speaker 5 (32:16):
Yeah, just to do some to do some extra to
put the load stuff in his truck to bring out
my Oh no, he comes out and brings dirt, and
you know, sometimes I got to have them do some
Uh he's got some uh adding a sprinkler for me,
you know those types of things, just the detail one.
Speaker 4 (32:33):
Or there's the one he used to run through that's
like yeah slow yeah, spits.
Speaker 5 (32:38):
No, just some adjustments we got to make on a
sprinkler and then I got to add one and so
a few things. But uh, I need him to truck
up some mulch and some some dirt because I got
some spring planning to do.
Speaker 4 (32:48):
Yeah, and that that wasn't what I was doing last night.
I was a deal. It was an odd day, Brian.
Speaker 5 (32:54):
Yeah, it was that day of at least, you know,
the temperature change, trying to get the golf course, getting
some some some uh you know, golf thoughts him, but
had to take care of business first. So man, last
night around six thirty seven o'clock, what it was beautiful.
Speaker 4 (33:08):
Yeah, unbelievable.
Speaker 5 (33:09):
So yeah, I didn't see much spring baseball yesterday and
last night. My full focus was after it was a
little college shops and then you know, taking care of
big getting them sheets and here we are again today.
Speaker 4 (33:20):
Yeah. It was uh yeah, it was. Yeah, he's there.
There's gonna be some decisions that are gonna have to
be made, so let's go through it. Let's got some
excellent sports stock seven ninety. Let the celebration start war
Sean Salisbury.
Speaker 1 (33:35):
It's a Sean Salisbury show.
Speaker 4 (33:38):
Talk about Cam Smith. Last segment had two bombs uh
in the game against the Mets. They wanted eight to five. Also,
you had Est Sok Perettes making his debut. You had
Christian Walker, Chris Walker bang went off the uh, excuse
me off the wall. Looked good over at first base.
(33:59):
You have some other guys that are gonna be vine
for some of these spots. Again, we've talked about Brendan Rodgers.
You've got Zach Dezenzo, Shay Whitcomb, u Forest Whiodley also
pitched yesterday. My goodness, he looked good. He's gonna have
to pitch at the big league level this season. They've
got some holes in that middle relief of the bullpen,
(34:21):
especially kayleib Board's been hurt. Sean Dubin is shut down
for a while. He's got shoulder inflammation. He was flown
back to Houston. Comes back that he's shut down for
a while. Pedro Leone is shut down for a while
with a Grade one MCL strain. So you have, uh,
you have some things going on in the middle of
the bullpen forest, Whilly is gonna have to have to
(34:43):
pitch well? I and I almost look at it. He
gets to pitch in the major league level, it's time. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (34:49):
And if not now when healthy ready to go, he's
you know, it's you. I almost feel like you have
to force him in there, even if he's not ready
to make your buddy, I do. I think that you
have to test these waters and see if he can
(35:11):
be a dominant guy in the bullpen. And who knows, dude,
maybe he's you know, maybe it just took this long
for him to discover himself. I don't know what role
it's going to be permanently appears a bullpen now, but
he may turn into something special there.
Speaker 4 (35:25):
Who knows what was his fastball yesterday? Do we see?
I would have again, I didn't see it for whatever reason.
You know, they don't even have the automatic ball strike
system at their stadium in West Palm. That's weird. And
then they didn't have the velo up on the TV.
Speaker 5 (35:39):
I'm just wondering if he's worthy hitting on that thing consistently,
because you know, you get a guy with that bullpen
depth wise who can give you a you know more
than an inning. I mean, force Whitley could be a
weapon for them. We got to find out, and I
hope for him what a comeback story would be after
all the ups and downs for that guy's career. There's
(35:59):
plenty of people who would have quit. Oh yeah, who
would have Who would have said I I'm done right?
Who would have said that they're done? And good for
Forest Whitley. I hope it works out this this year.
I can't wait to see what his arsenal of pitches
is and and how he executes him.
Speaker 4 (36:13):
Yeah, he was uh, he was really good. Yesterday Joe
Spota said that he was quote unquote electric in his
outing for Uh, for Forest Whodley. Also another guy Bennett's
SUSA returning to the mound he missed all last year.
He was a guy that was added to the roster
in twenty twenty three, pitched really well, but was added late,
so he didn't get to pitch in the postseason uh
(36:35):
in twenty twenty three, and he looked really good too.
He's a lefty. He will be another guy that is
vying for a spot in that bullpen. Yeah, not to
be confused with Kaiser.
Speaker 5 (36:47):
Yeah, that's a good point. And that could be confused, right,
but he uh, he may dominate though, you never know.
Speaker 4 (36:53):
What's the what's the gangster's name in Rounders? RGB? He's
that man his mind? Yeah, that boy, what a movie
that was. Huh good reference. Huh I've seen I like you.
I like you to know what Rounders is all about.
That was such a good movie. Man, Yeah, we're watching that. Uh,
round it out your top ten?
Speaker 1 (37:11):
What is that?
Speaker 9 (37:12):
Man?
Speaker 4 (37:13):
Hey? That man is KMANI any call RGB? Is that
what it was? KGBG? Teddy KGB? He's a Russian mobster?
Speaker 5 (37:24):
Well yeah, well THEO I call him THEO. Teddy's a
good Russian name, right, Yeah, Teddy Teddy kg B.
Speaker 4 (37:32):
There you go, man, thirty thousand bank roll in a
single hand in that movie triple Have you ever heard
of the movie Rounders? No robin out?
Speaker 5 (37:41):
Yeah, it'll really it'll really round out your thinking in
your top ten triple A.
Speaker 4 (37:45):
It really will.
Speaker 7 (37:47):
Good movie.
Speaker 4 (37:47):
Yeah, yes, very good. And I'm not if I'm not mistaken,
I think they're bringing I'm think they're about to make
a Rounders two.
Speaker 5 (37:54):
There's a shocker that Yeah, Rounders. That creativity Hollywood, Hollywood's
brought on the last eight years. Sap is very possible.
Oh we've seen that one fourteen times. Okay, yeah, so
what this movie was ready for The Astros man?
Speaker 4 (38:16):
Are you? Yeah? Released in ninety eight, Brian, Yes, I
watched The Astros. Yeah, where's Brandon? How'd you talk about bread?
Because that's pretty good? You go, there you go. Oppressions
are forms sincerest form of flattery. Yeah, love him, Good
luck cam Smith two home runs yesterday. There you go
out in West Palm Beach. Wouldn't get to break and

I'm dead. What do they say? There are savage tweets? Yeah,
there are some savage tweets.
Speaker 5 (41:22):
We're just teasing it because I I want to spend
the next three hours breaking this down. You can break it, honestly. Oh,
there is no question about it. And I actually can't
wait till seven fifteen.
Speaker 4 (41:34):
Oh gosh, that's coming up on the steak out. You're
not gonna want to miss that one. Unbelieve the internet
by storm yesterday.
Speaker 5 (41:40):
Unfreaking believable. I didn't pay one ounce of attention for
the most part to social media. At the end yesterday.
You know how you get caught it, which is a
good thing. You need to doubt, you know, get away
from it. I missed this one until this morning, and
I got to tell you trash. But the gifts are
and the tweets are we got there's some really clever people.
Speaker 4 (41:59):
Oh yeah, people. You know what people do.
Speaker 5 (42:01):
They are at their very best beating worst. Yes, when
it comes to you want some laughs, go to Twitter
after because there's some clever people when they piece this
stuff together. I can't help it, man, I can't help
but laugh. And they they bring back old gifts that
I'm crying.
Speaker 4 (42:17):
Tom Brady video of him turning around, Oh dude, it's hilarious. Yeah,
I can't wait till we talk about this. It's coming up.

Speaker 12 (42:52):
A couple of things. Uh One, I was you know,
I think the Astros pictures need to start running wind
sprints because when I hear somebody has a sore shoulders
because their legs.
Speaker 4 (43:00):
Are given out.
Speaker 13 (43:01):
You know, it's like I called in yesterday.
Speaker 1 (43:02):
You know, it's all about the legs, right.
Speaker 4 (43:04):
Yeah, we know you like the half Man. Yeah, yeah,
you're right.
Speaker 11 (43:08):
And uh and.
Speaker 4 (43:12):
And uh are you guys going to watch the Pro combine?
Speaker 11 (43:15):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (43:15):
This year?
Speaker 12 (43:16):
You know starts at twenty seventh And I was wondering
who you're going to be watching and Anthony Richardson you're not.
I hope, I hope that you're not going to use
your centuries old tablet and report that stuff like Anthony
Richardson didn't hit his outs. You know, I hope you're
going to have some accurate dat you know, accurate data.
You know, you need a technology upgrade, like serious man.
Speaker 4 (43:34):
I tell you, Hey, well, well, John, how's that that
completion percentage doing? For Anthony Richardson in Indianapolis.
Speaker 1 (43:42):
Not good, No, but I mean he did hit us.
He didn't hit his outse at the combine though.
Speaker 4 (43:46):
I got that. Yeah, what a monster, What a monster.
He was in shorts and a T shirt. Hey, John,
look hout far we've come, man, look out far we've come.
Speaker 1 (43:53):
Uh yeah, well yeah, step by step, yeah.
Speaker 4 (43:57):
Man, yeah, day by day. Hey, just enjoy the process us.
Right well, it's all about the pros. It's all about
the process, right absolutely. I mean, who are some names
that you're going to be are you? I'm assuming you're
gonna watch on John? You know, yeah, you know.
Speaker 12 (44:10):
I you know, last year I was hoping that the
textics would get Lad McCaughey, right, oh yeah, that didn't
work out. But the guy that I i'd like, you
know that I would like to see. I don't know
if he'll last for us to get. But you know
that Dante Thornton.
Speaker 13 (44:23):
You know, he's like a wide receiveres like six' five

School, yeah he can, run and he's a football. Player
he feels like a football. Player plays, TRACK i mean runs.

of just a track guy trying to learn to.

as the quarterbacks Behind, warden and should say in my
mind he's the third, quarterback AND i think in a
lot of people's mind he's pushed himself into that. Way
he's a really Good, uh he's an explosive talent if
he's coach, right and boy we saw some of that
(45:34):
At Ole Miss.
Speaker 4 (45:35):

Houston both of them go to ole miss word on
The twitter. Streets Mary Kate cornett banged her boyfriend's dad.
Speaker 17 (52:59):
And.
Speaker 4 (52:59):
Buddy The twitter streets got hold of it and it took.
Off it. Is it was literally trending all day. Yesterday
it's still training this. Morning it is that this whole
story is, awful but, man the memes and the videos
and the gifts are. Hilarious it's he ain't. Lying the
(53:23):
thing about this is.
Speaker 5 (53:25):
Okay there's there's the one side of this is, yes
you see people in like the gifts are. Priceless yet
you can't help but laugh at the gifts without laughing
at what's going on.
Speaker 4 (53:38):
Now unfortunately people are. Relentless unfortunately for Relent.
Speaker 5 (53:47):
I'm not talking about relentless in winning games and like
fighting through on field. Adversity i'm talking about just relentless
with their their incredible pursuit of who's gonna put out
the next tweet unier than the?
Speaker 4 (54:00):
Last, okay this one THAT i just. Saw have you
heard the you've heard, That like usually with a group of,
girls there's, like let's say it's a group of really pretty,
girls there's always the ugly one or the big, one
the big ugly one that always like, yes that says
that she didn't do her. Job there's a picture It's
(54:21):
Mary Kate cornett and her friends and they're they're, attractive
but then there's one big one not very. Attractive and
some guys said the one time she could have stopped
something worth, stopping and where was she a wall circle
the big?
Speaker 1 (54:35):
Girl she didn't.
Speaker 4 (54:41):
Stray, bullets but they'd be in the mix when you
try to exactly.
Speaker 5 (54:45):
Game, yeah but she needed to go Old Charlie brown
on him that. Time but didn't listen the funny part of,
it because some of these gifts All alevi in tears
and THEN i step aside as a, dad AND i
don't want to put a buzzkill on, it BUT i
step aside as a, dad thinking at least have the
(55:06):
common courtesy if you're going to do something that. Stand
i'm being obviously facetious. Here could you take the girlfriend's,
girlfriend not the girlfriend. FRIEND i, mean if you're going
to be a, pig at least make sure one they're over,
age which they.
Speaker 4 (55:25):
Are two that you're not moving in on your son's. Territory, man,
Dude i'm serious as a, dad can there be anything.
Speaker 11 (55:36):
More?
Speaker 5 (55:36):
Humiliated that's Now i'm going to tell you what the
scars from that kid and that. Family we laugh, now
AND i get why we're laughing at the. Gifts i'm
not laughing at the situation the gifts because you can't.
Help but, like oh my, gosh there's a guy sprinting
down the street that, says can't wait to be the
next guy to put a gift the way the way
he's running to get, to like to where he could
make the next social media.
Speaker 4 (55:57):
Post now that's.
Speaker 5 (55:58):
Funny that's hilarious when you think about the deep damage
that this is gonna do to her. FAMILY i would
imagine if they both go to school. Today at some
point at ell miss. It at some point in time
both families have run into each other at a tail.
Gat but can you imagine your as a son to your. Dad,
(56:20):
listen isn't there enough fish in the, sea, yeah that
you don't have to bang your son's girlfriend or fiance or.
Speaker 4 (56:29):
Wife or college college. Sweetheart.
Speaker 5 (56:35):
Terrible, Man there's gonna be some that are going to
call the dad the goat because he was able to
pull it, off which is. Awful his, buddies his buddies
and when they're having a beer away from, it his,
boy they're good on the, golfers, Dude But i'm saying
there are gonna Be there are gonna be some of
it his. Golfing but oh, man they're gonna ask what
(56:56):
it was. Like i'm just telling, you and you AND
i both know it's. Mortified then there's going to be
the type that people now when he walks like into,
church walks into a, restaurant people going to look at him, like, exactly,
well he is a scumbag by doing, that.
Speaker 4 (57:12):
By the, way, Right and then there's gonna be think
about the fallout for the. Kid these kids are they are,
related what are his.
Speaker 5 (57:20):
Fraternity if he's in a frat or at the, thing
when he walks through a, bar they're gonna be looking at, saying,
oh you couldn't keep. IT i, mean think about how
rude people can. Be, Dude i'm just telling you the.
Scars and then the, deepest worst part of it is
he just destroyed a, family at least from my vantage, point,
right she does his, wife so how does she trust?
(57:40):
Him and then now the first thing that would come
to her, MIND i would think is how many other
times have he done?
Speaker 4 (57:45):
It and then that then the sun is, like that's my,
Dad that's the GUY i go play catch.
Speaker 5 (57:51):
With that's the dad THAT i drive down that's supposed
to tell me What i'm supposed to stay away. From not,
now we all make but, listen we all make mistakes in,
life you, know like we're you, know we were late
getting up in the, morning or we miss a, day
we miss opportunities to teach our.
Speaker 4 (58:06):
Kids we all.
Speaker 5 (58:07):
Do we try to do it the right. Way but
this Ain't this isn't a. Mistake this is a. Choice
AND i can't think of anything worse to do to
your kid than embarrass him like, this and ruin a.
FAMILY i, mean the collateral damage for the for however
long that relationship has or will, last is ABSOLUTELY i
(58:28):
know that people, saying oh, man he's making a joke of,
it but this. Isn't, hey this isn't a bunch of
bros sitting around joking about a date they went on
twenty years, ago and the girls now happily, married and
the guy's happening there and they made a mistake in
college by sleeping with their buddies. Girlfriend because all that
stuff that goes. On this is a, dad his son's
girlfriend that he actually obviously went after and she allowed
(58:54):
it to, happen or vice. VERSA i Just i'm not
in my moral high, horse trust me at. All Not
even the act of the sex isn't the Thing i'm
Talking i'm talking about just the process of getting to,
it thinking about of all the things that are out,
there you can, do whether it's a son or a
daughter doing that to your, kid it cannot be.
Speaker 4 (59:15):
Worse it's.
Speaker 5 (59:15):
Principle it is, complete, principal complete. Principle, listen we'd all
be sitting. There let's say he was single and the
girl was single in, college and he went to watch a,
game and she's twenty one years old and he dated,
her we'd alwa be, saying kind of, weird you're.
Speaker 4 (59:30):
A little too.
Speaker 5 (59:30):
Old she's old and she's your daughter's age if he
has a. Daughter but you'd also look back and, say,
damn you must have some.
Speaker 18 (59:36):
Game.
Speaker 4 (59:36):
Dog but when it comes to you're married the, other her,
family your, son.
Speaker 11 (59:44):
The.
Speaker 5 (59:44):
Embarrassment now your son is going to be a gift
or that situation. Forever and it's JUST i can't. THINK
i think about my boys and my, daughter And i've
made plenty of mistakes as a. Dad that ain't a, mistake,
dude that's a choice that now and then you're gonna
wonder forty years from, now when you're on your, deathbed
or you're gonna wonder At thanksgiving why your kid doesn't
(01:00:05):
want to hang around. You, yeah and Maybe i'm. Wrong
maybe it's like the kids, like oh, good it's all.
RIGHT i wouldn't think, so, THOUGH i would think he's.
Devastated oh. Yeah so, yeah we laugh at the gifts
because some of them are hilarious and, funny but at
the expense of think about your.
Speaker 4 (01:00:19):
Kid.
Speaker 5 (01:00:20):
Now you know, me, DUDE i like to laugh and
have fun as much as, anybody but as a father of,
THREE i cannot think of anything worse to do other
than abuse. Them but this is a form of mental
scars and. Abusive see we usually think of abuse of
a child Or i'm talking this is young. Adult this
is mentally abusive you can be to a. Kid, yeah it's, awful,
(01:00:42):
MAN i got. It then the Question i'd asked, dad
was it worth?
Speaker 4 (01:00:45):
IT i don't think. THAT i think that he's been doing, this.
GUYS i think like this wasn't a one time. THING
i read like with the with the girl, Girl, yes
they this has turned into a. Relationship i'm gonna send, you,
guys the. PAIR i don't know if you have. Read,
YEAH i read THE i read the real long you're
talk about on the big long paragraph or. Whatever. Yeah so,
yeah but one time.
Speaker 5 (01:01:06):
If they fell in, love well got married down the,
road it's still the scars you leave for your son.
Awful the gifts are, funny but when you think about
the collateral damage for the family and the, kid.
Speaker 4 (01:01:19):
How awful is?
Speaker 5 (01:01:20):
It would you ever bring a good anybody around your dad?
Again SO i THINK i want to think to the. Dad,
okay ten years from now when you can't pull or
twenty years, whatever he's what he looks, like he's what fifty.
Something so so when you're seventy five and your kids
married and has grandkids and doesn't want to bring him to,
you was it worth?
Speaker 7 (01:01:37):
It?
Speaker 5 (01:01:37):
No we all make stupidents say and this is LIKE i,
said it's not a self righteous holier than. Now but
when it comes to your, kids you're supposed to protect,
them not add to the. Chaos i'll never understand, it,
Man i'll never. Understand but the gifts are. Funny but
WHEN i THOUGHT i it's as IF i wasn't a,
Dad i'd PROBABLY i probably get.
Speaker 4 (01:01:55):
A few more. Laughs but is a, Dad i'm, thinking
how can you do? This your? Kid you want me
to laugh for? You go, ahead you.
Speaker 1 (01:02:02):
Guys you guys are.
Speaker 18 (01:02:04):
Dad you guys are, dads and you're gonna be one
day or somebody's.
Speaker 4 (01:02:07):
Son just put yourself in the. Shoes you don't want.
That so there's the tweet THAT i HOW i found
out about this was it's a picture of the. Dad
it's a picture Of Mary Kate. Cornett and then at
the very bottom is the it's the video Of Kevin
garnett after he won the, championship and he's screaming anything as.
(01:02:29):
Possible it's. Hilarious there's one under, it a reply that,
says if there's one positive thing you could say About
Mary Kate, cornett it's, this in the age of only,
fans she was still out there grinding for dinner and
drinks the old fashioned. WAYS i think you kind of
have to respect. That a little, hey game recognized. Game
(01:02:49):
some of the stuff shots on gold and some of
the stuff is. Funny he shot his shot and it.
Worked the dad Or i'm wondering who made the first.
MOVE i guest it was, him. Dude so apparently in
the in the, story she went to support the little
sister he. Got now we're getting a little sister. Involved
he got her. Drunk you, know she's a young college
girl who knows man when he got. Dreams, yeah, dinner yeah.
(01:03:11):
Man but at what point time are you the Dad
you're thinking this isn't gonna be?
Speaker 2 (01:03:17):
Right?
Speaker 4 (01:03:17):
Yeah well, so and Then i've done some more due
diligence on this. Story apparently he's been cheating on his
wife for, like, yeah that's What i'm. Saying this isn't
the first.
Speaker 5 (01:03:24):
Time, well, yeah he didn't just wake up and decide
to go and find some some hotty toddy from old.
Miss can you, imagine, though think about like they're sitting
at the dinner table in the dad's eyeball in the.
Speaker 4 (01:03:35):
Day it's so, creepy, Dude it's just it. NOW i
know we want to. Laugh if we're in a fraternity
back to college and you're looking at the, dad you.
Cool but, yeah, NO i wouldn't even do that. Though,
no But i'm talking about. People i'm not talking about. You,
YEAH i mean about.
Speaker 5 (01:03:47):
People So i'm not trying to buzz kill their laughs
because some of the gifts are. Hilarious, yeah but it's
at somebody else's. EXPENSE i the only Reason i'm you,
Know i'd like to think we have some morals a,
values Although i've we've all at some point in our
life taking a step back from morals and. VALUES i get.
It so it's not self. Righteous i'm preaching to. Anybody
i'm preaching as a. DAD i can't think of a
(01:04:07):
more heel thing to do to my. Kids if you're,
him and then you start to think.
Speaker 4 (01:04:11):
Of, It, hey you're.
Speaker 5 (01:04:12):
Pregnant you guys wanna you guys want to be buddies?
Again can CAN i meet the? Grandkid, No, dad you
left that on the table WHEN i was at. Ole
miss or you know when to say you think the
kid's gonna invite the dad to the wedding the next
time when he gets.
Speaker 4 (01:04:27):
Married how's a mom? Feeling keep an eye on that. Story.
Speaker 5 (01:04:31):
NOW i don't know what the mom's doing, stuff but
you know what the collateral damage of. Embarrassment the mom's
going to walk into the grocery store with the, dad
or they go to church and everybody's gonna be looking him,
like first of, all why are you still with? Him
but second of, all you're in your kid's. Life hopefully
the kid will. RESPIRE i mean WHEN i say ruined his,
life the scar is not going to go. Away the
one guy you're supposed to be able to trust no matter,
(01:04:51):
what to protect you as a daughter or a, son
is Your. Popsy LIKE i, said we make a lot of.
Mistakes but one Thing i'll tell you. What kids are
frigging off. Limits, dude there they are off. Limits you
want to fight Like i'm killing for my. Kids you
want To i'm protecting. Him the one thing you said
at the dinner table or the kitchen table with your
mom or dad at night after you break up with
(01:05:12):
your high school. Girlfriend they're giving you thought it's gonna be,
okay you'll find love, again and then to find out
that your.
Speaker 4 (01:05:18):
Pops is the.
Speaker 5 (01:05:19):
Reason come, on, MAN i want to laugh at the,
gifts but the story is That dad is SO i
can't even fathom. That eric to us they're astro. Fans,
apparently well, great he Probably eric judging.
Speaker 4 (01:05:34):
Him what a pig. MOVE i don't know what to
say to, him BUT i, AM i am.
Speaker 5 (01:05:39):
Too i'm trying To, No, NO i don't Want eric. One,
NO i don't WANT i. Don't he'll, say have you
ever walked on old missus? Campus?
Speaker 4 (01:05:52):

Speaker 5 (01:05:53):
Don't, No, ABSOLUTELY i just can't. Fathom as a guy who's,
LISTEN I i just can't fathom doing that to chat
to my.
Speaker 4 (01:06:02):
Kids, NO i just. Can't, no it's.
Speaker 1 (01:06:03):
Terrible.
Speaker 4 (01:06:04):

Man, No, no It's this ain't the kids. Fault, NO i,
know it's not the kid's, fault BUT i you, know
LIKE i.
Speaker 5 (01:06:32):
Listen sometimes we don't discipline them. Enough sometimes we discipline them.
Enough sometimes we argue with our kids because and they
don't talk to you for three.
Speaker 4 (01:06:40):
Months because you know What i'm. Saying we go through.
It it's, happened, Right but not for, This, okay not for.
THIS i, mean there's got to be a.
Speaker 5 (01:06:48):
Line it's etched, in not a ligne in the, sand
as all the concrete wall that says the girlfriends.
Speaker 4 (01:06:57):
The girl for your kids in off. Limits.
Speaker 5 (01:07:00):

obviously branches to. This i'm just talking about the first.
One protect your. Kids, man that's your, Son that is
your friggin. SON i, don't, Man i'm. SORRY i just
like you. Said the gifts and memes are very. Funny
(01:07:20):
the internet does light up with stuff after this. Happens
but it's also the psychological psychological damage to that.
Speaker 4 (01:07:28):
Kid.
Speaker 5 (01:07:28):
YEAH i know you'll get some, say oh tough, Enough, no, no,
NO i shouldn't have to tough en up around when
it comes to my father protecting me when he was.
Alive it JUST i, MEAN i don't, know IT'S i
don't get. It but when you, Think i'm thinking as a,
DAD i know people out there that don't have to
(01:07:49):
like summer, laughing AND i just it's not.
Speaker 4 (01:07:53):
Good it's not. GOOD i don't know how you repair that.
Speaker 5 (01:07:56):
Relationship you don't and that should be the dad's number
one priority in life right. Now, yeah finding a way
to repair it with your son and your. Wife, YEAH
i don't. Know, listen the one thing about, kids it hits.
Different i'm not telling anybody how to run their own
household with their wife and. Stuff because people cheat on
people all the, time, wives husbands all the. Time i'm
not saying that's, okay but they.
Speaker 4 (01:08:16):
Do everybody's.
Speaker 5 (01:08:17):
Made but whatever their relationship, is if they know what's
going on and they're, allowed that's on, them. Right i'm
not telling them how to be, married BUT i don't.
Care divore whatever it is you're. Doing the ultimate thing
in life is your kids got to know their loved
and you can't put those scars on your. Kids there's
enough scars in life as a. PARENT i don't want
to be one of. Them they are a couple silver.
(01:08:38):
Linings so there isn't one for the. Kid, well he
knows that he's with the wrong.
Speaker 4 (01:08:43):
Girl, Well Evan saliz is getting a bunch of money
from some randoms On. Venmo literally a bunch of people
are donating money to. Him and then also there's from
where they're, from and his dad's good that that money's
probably probably not an, issue, no, No but then there's
also you know the fact that he's going to walk on,
campus you, know and people dudes are probably gonna give
them a hard. Time BUT i guarantee you there's gonna
(01:09:03):
be a group of girls that are gonna feel bad
for him and throw themselves at He's.
Speaker 5 (01:09:07):
God, now now there's there's gonna be some that may, said,
Oh i'm gonna Give Mary kay to taste of rowing.
Medicine yeah, good the girlfriends on, campus, Right oh, yeah
he's he's a bigger leg.
Speaker 4 (01:09:17):
Man well he's the biggest legend on campus right.
Speaker 5 (01:09:19):
Now but some of it's gonna be laughed, at and
so's to be laughed, with and they're going to rally,
around you. Know but it doesn't help if that's a
silver lining when all is said and, done your dad
not your, buddy which is bad. ENOUGH i can't even
do that to a best, friend, right but your, Dad,
well you guys don't understand it because you're not Dad's.
Speaker 4 (01:09:39):
YEAH i know that's Why I'm it's just it, sucks
but both your dads do that to. You i'm whooping
my dad's ass even though my dad terrified. Me i'm gonna.
Speaker 7 (01:09:46):
TRY i.
Speaker 4 (01:09:47):
COULDN'T i couldn't my. Dad my dad was too. TOUGH i.
Couldn't at my BEST i wasn't ever whooping my dad's.
ASS i COULD i. COULD i don't try, try even
WHEN i would. Like my dad was in his.
Speaker 5 (01:10:01):
Sixties same, anyway he wouldn't have AND i was wouldn't
lasted long my, dad my, dad that old man strike
up Forgetting, NO i. WOULDN'T i was afraid the death
of miss and he never didn't raise a hand of.
Me but he didn't need to.
Speaker 4 (01:10:10):
Remember there was. Man my old man would have never
thought about. THAT i doubt my dad wouldn't have, Either
but my mom would have whooped his. Ass, yeah my
dad was. SEVENTY i think. It me and him got
into it pretty hard during the, holidays and we Were
my dad was five, nine maybe five ten at the
max of, Course i'm six. TWO i was looking down at,
it but he was, LIKE i was, Like i'm Not
i'm not doing this at no.
Speaker 5 (01:10:29):
TIME i mean there's times when you, started you get
up and taking it in to you and near feeling
yourself and you're getting in. DISAGREEMENT i never took one
step towards my. Father, yeah freaking life hell because he
but mile may he. Did, No, yeah, NO I I i.
UNDERSTAND i, MEAN i, ride you know. Hard we all
(01:10:52):
have like A i'm a thrill. Seeker that ain't a
thrill of trying to trying to raise up on my. Pops,
no that wouldn't have ended well from. Me, no but
and my dad would have never been in that position
to do. That But i'm going to, Retify i'm going
to reemphasize. THIS i get the laughs at the.
Speaker 4 (01:11:08):
Gifts, well you, know it doesn't Help sean that His
instagram profile picture is him wearing a shirt that Says Daddy's.
Speaker 5 (01:11:15):
Home, yeah so you know. That just of COURSE i
get the, laughs and you know, me, DUDE i will
laugh Until i'm. Crying but the dad part of me
kicks in And i'm, thinking at any point in, time
if you've had a disagreement with your kids and you
haven't talked for a couple of. Weeks it's gut, wrenching,
right but over, This, no no. Kids the job job
(01:11:37):
is to put a blanket over them and protect, them
not to make it worse for.
Speaker 4 (01:11:41):
Them, yeah not good, man not. Good. Eric, again if
you're out there, Listening, budy you know, it give us a,

can't think of anything worse to do to your child
other than abuse them as a young. Kid this is
just as bad as abuse to a college kid because
it's gonna scar him for.
Speaker 4 (01:15:33):
Life. Period anything else you want to say about, THIS.
Speaker 2 (01:15:39):
I just think you.
Speaker 19 (01:15:40):

steak out? Segment? Yes or? No? Okay so our steakout,
segments let me tell, You, John, so our steakout segment
is we have a prep that we. Do we talk
sports about eighty five percent of the, time but we're
(01:16:13):
on here for four hours on a morning. Show the
steakout segment is designed by. Me it shown up on
a segment that is not a part of our. Prep
he has no idea What i'm going to bring, up
because that's why it's called the. Steakout it's designed to
get away from the a. Topic so we spent twenty
minutes talking about. This it is a massive. Story that's
(01:16:34):
why we went to, it and that was designed by.
Me but what we said multiple, Times, john is that
this thing is not, funny it's not. Cool we had
some lass about the. Memes so don't get off your
moral high horse and do not come on to our
show and tell us you guys are above. It if

Okay so, boy all, right a little?
Speaker 1 (01:18:01):

Speaker 4 (01:18:02):
Great so you know, what, man we're so immature, Though, john.
Speaker 1 (01:18:05):
Boys all, right little boys running radio.
Speaker 4 (01:18:07):

Speaker 4 (01:18:21):
Mature, Okay?
Speaker 5 (01:18:22):
John have you, okay so you're the host of this.
Show we'll let you be the host for a, Second
so a story comes over and your co host brings it.
Speaker 4 (01:18:30):
Up are you how are? You how are you going
to answer?
Speaker 19 (01:18:33):
It perfect, Example i'll give you the. Example you talk
about it and let it go, okay and and and it's.
Frustrating on one, hand you're saying it's really, bad this
is really, bad but the memes are.
Speaker 7 (01:18:45):
Funny it's really, bad but let's, oh he's gonna be a.
Speaker 6 (01:18:49):
Hero, uh this is a sports radio talk.
Speaker 7 (01:18:51):
SHOW i don't get.
Speaker 4 (01:18:53):
It you want four hours sports?
Speaker 1 (01:18:55):
Man you guys are a.
Speaker 6 (01:18:56):
Man and you're, Like i'm freaking you or.
Speaker 7 (01:18:58):
Something i'm.
Speaker 4 (01:18:59):
Not i'm, like, no you just you just caught. Us
you caught us little. Boys you caught us little.
Speaker 5 (01:19:05):
Boys so the same things that we're doing about, laughing
you get to we're supposed. To we're getting you a.
Platform WELL i thought, you so do you want for?
It just be quiet for a, Second just just just be. Quiet, Okay, bye,
Bye Thanks. John we appreciate the criticism and the. Critique
(01:19:30):
back to the gifts and the. Memes, look, MAN i
designed buzz But i'll take it on the chin for that.
One i'm not worried about the. Criticism taking on the
chair he's about he'll listen. TOMORROW i don't have is
he Does john ever called our. SHOW i don't know
Who john, Is but that's, Okay. John John's john's GOT
(01:19:55):
i Being can you imagine having to wake up and
listen to? Him never let He he's got two ears
in one mouth and he doesn't use them. Accordingly BUT i.
UNDERSTAND i don't have problem with. It i'm sure he's
a good. GUY i don't have problem with the criticism
Because i'm critical of this story as. Well and it's, Okay.
John we did to, it we talked about, it and
then we're going to let it. Go but you just
enhanced the story for fifteen more, minutes so you obviously
(01:20:18):
wanted to talk about it was bugging.
Speaker 11 (01:20:19):
You i'm a.
Speaker 5 (01:20:20):
DAD i don't know if you're a, Dad, john if
anybody could even tolerate you at the dinner table because
they'd never get a word. In but that being, said
we allowed you a, platform and, yes WHAT i meant
by we love our, callers but we didn't book a
guest appearance for. You we open up our phone lights
because we want your. Opinion but you jumped. On you
didn't hear you only chose one side to, attack and it's.
(01:20:42):
OKAY i think my shoulders are big enough to handle.
That the other side of it is you didn't hear the.
Side where as a, DAD i just soon punched the
guy in the face AS i would laugh at the. Gifts,
okay even more so so if you heard. It there
was no self righteous part of. This but there also
is A, yeah as a, DAD i can't even fathom,
(01:21:04):
this And i've made plenty of mistakes raising, kids not like.
This that's not a, mistake that's a. Choice, So, john
it is a sports show for four. Hours BUT i
can promise you one thing on this, show as long
As i'm sitting in this chair and as he's sitting
in that, chair we're doing this, show that you will
never have us come on here and talk x's and
o's for four straight. Hours the day that somebody forces
(01:21:28):
us to do that will be the day that this
WILL i won't do it. Anymore we do sports all the.
Time sometimes we even need a break from it because we're. Tired,
yeah because we're tired of talking back up second basement
for the. Astros and that's just the real part of.
It and if this story can't take a side step.
Forward you get to choose how you want to approach the,
(01:21:48):
story and you can call and criticize all you.
Speaker 4 (01:21:50):
Want that's no.
Speaker 5 (01:21:50):
Problem but when you keep talking and don't let us,
respond how are we going to get it? IN i
got no issue with, You, JOHN i don't know you From. Adam,
well we'll probably never have a beer together in our,
life and you can call back. Tomorrow but if you're
gonna g if you're gonna you, gotta you, gotta you
can get it all. In and maybe we're above, it
but sometimes we're immature, too so that's A if that's
a fault of, ours we'll raise our. Hand but the
(01:22:11):
fact that what they, did what he did to his,
KID i Think i've made myself pretty clear on how
how this, is BUT i am. Not what they do
in their home is their, business but when it becomes,
public it's. Something our responsibility as show hosts is to
talk about things that are going on in, public that
are on the. Internet sports having some we laugh at
(01:22:31):
some we. Don't nobody's laughing at the collateral damage is
going to. Cause if they, are then they probably need.
Speaker 4 (01:22:36):
It but go, on go, go go.
Speaker 5 (01:22:37):
On social, media and you'll see people that if if
you're judging, us, boy or you're gonna have a tough,
day so you call you coming in here.
Speaker 4 (01:22:44):
Anytime we're laid in to. Break BUT i don't. CARE
i don't.
Speaker 5 (01:22:46):
Care i'm sure somebody's out selling the next. Segment but
you're always welcome on. Here but make no, mistake you're
not getting four hours of sports on.
Speaker 4 (01:22:56):
Here, no you just.
Speaker 5 (01:22:57):
Won't so if that's what you, WANT I i got
plenty of shows for. You this ain't, yours but we'd
love to have you back because most time we talk,
sports BUT i got news for. You i'd quit sports
IF i had to talk at eight hours a day
AND i already damn well Do so you know, What
we're going to take a little time to talk about
the stories of the world and then you get to
judge whether you think it's a good one or. Not
and the fact this is an atrocious story and some
(01:23:19):
of the gifts are, funny they're just at the expense
of probably psychologically damaging a kid unfortunately and a. Family Thanks,
john appreciate your. Call can't wait to hear from you.

a lot of sities on radio shows and listen to
(01:35:36):
other shows right That i've been on over the course
of thirty, years And i'm not sure That i've had
a better group of callers daily than we have on our.
Show whether whether they agree or, disagree they make a,
point they. Laugh we've gotten some, knockdown drag out stuff
with our Guy John. Over Anthony richard so great so
and he's one of our favorite people on the.
Speaker 4 (01:35:56):
Planet. Right we love.
Speaker 5 (01:35:57):
It, listen good shows are made from different. Opinions fans
that call in that, laugh it's. Okay laughing doesn't always
mean you're doing as somebody else's. Expense it means you
just we all need them as. Well AND i got
news for. YOU i don't know a caller on this
show that if that young, man the college student walked
into their into their, house wouldn't put their arm around
(01:36:19):
him and, say, MAN i hope everything's, okay, right just,
honestly so it's. Listen it's a. Story people are talking about.
It but the point is our callers are so are
are really. Cool they uplift the show and a lot of.
CALLS i can tell you, this most stations in this
country can't say that about their. Callers i'm being, honest
(01:36:39):
but it's not an it's a fact that, sometimes LIKE
i don't want to take, CALLERS i actually look forward
to some of the stuff they even when it's even
when it's in our getting after, us because they've had
to correctness.
Speaker 4 (01:36:51):
Plenty of times and it's. Good and Even john And, magnolia.

Speaker 20 (01:38:50):
Man you, know they done went up at least fifteen
hundred dollars on my season tickets for this season for
The Houston Texas, Man And i'm, wow it's it's forty
five hundred. Dollars they're actually for now and ONCE i
bought the, tickets they're like you don't have to pay
as much once you do the personal seat. License that's
(01:39:12):
the hardest bill you. Have the tickets are now up
to forty five hundred. Dollars, John this question is for
you with what's happened with the young? Man and then
you hear about What Steve Smith junior. DID i guess
that Got john ain't having read that? Report and isn't
it a clause for the those cheerleaders not to be
(01:39:35):
involved with the?
Speaker 7 (01:39:36):
Athletes And i'll just hang up and Listening you.
Speaker 5 (01:39:38):
Guys, appreciate appreciate the. Call, YEAH i real quick reg
was WHEN i was playing in THE, NFL i know
that they frowned upon dating player to. Cheerleading NOW i
know at times to the course players have ended up.
Marrying they may have frowned. Upon then they end up
(01:39:59):
getting and they kind of turn the, other but they
do they frown upon it for obvious. Reasons you, know
guys playing a game with the cheerleaders on the, side
it's like. ANYTHING i, mean But i've known some that
have fallen in love and they've gotten married and that's.
It so, Yeah but for most, TEAMS i can't speak
for all the. Ones iron it was usually.
Speaker 4 (01:40:19):
It was usually.
Speaker 5 (01:40:22):
Frowned upon to go to to get into a relationship
with him right now the only time in, truth and
it wasn't in. COLLEGE i mean my college girlfriend for
three and a half years was A usc song, leader
so that wasn't an. Issue but in THE nfl they,
did it was frowned. Upon it probably more on the
cheerleader side than the players, side but it's happened where
(01:40:44):
people have gotten together and they've end up getting married
in formal. Relationships SO i don't know how you monitor
it all the, time, RIGHT i don't know how they.
Do but it was frowned. Upon that's and in THE.
NFL i OBVIOUSLY i didn't date a cheerleader in THE
nfl and in, college but they and they're usually not
in true and the SAME i, remember they're usually not
in the same place as you. Go does that make sense?
(01:41:04):
Right AND i don't know if it's planned or what have,
you but it is frowned upon in most. Places it's
not encouraged athletes and cheerleaders or what you, know this
on the sidelines that you know for obvious reasons to.
Speaker 4 (01:41:16):
Date, yeah BUT i. DON'T i don't know how THEY
i don't know how they monitor. THAT i don't, Know
Steve Smith. Junior, stuff that's. It that's terrible. Stuff i'll
we don't need two negatives on The Bull. Show no
we do. Not seven one, three, five seven. Ninety let's
get back talking To, Astros brad And brain will get

a radio convention and we did about sixty interviews with
(01:43:55):
country artists last week in about three. Days AND i
tell you, this it gets really tiresome and really just
kind of monotonous when you sit there and talk about
the same thing for four hours and doing a radio.

to at the same.
Speaker 5 (01:44:23):
Time brandon before, you before you long enough to know

that's one of the THINGS i just like to piel
a curtain, back if you.
Speaker 1 (01:45:41):
Will.
Speaker 4 (01:45:41):
Like one of the things that you taught me very
early on was, like, look, man we're on this show
for four. Hours there's a couple of things that you're gonna.
Learn you don't have to get everything in on one.
Show we have five days to talk about. It if
there's an astros topic that we can get to on A.
Monday we can talk about it on A tuesday Or.
Wednesday and then other thing is we will never talk
sports for four straight. HOURS i will leave if that's
ever the, case, Right AND i was, like, okay, good
(01:46:02):
BECAUSE i don't want to talk sports four straight. Out
we're on a morning drive, radio.
Speaker 5 (01:46:06):
Right and the last, thing no matter what's going on around,
you when we hit the ground running at, six that
can't affect it's four. Hours because our fans deserve one
hundred percent of. Us, yeah every, day that's why they tune.
In we want one hundred percent of them when they call.
In then that's our. Job and if we can't do,
that then you should turn your paycheck in and and
and and give. It you know What i'm, Saying they
(01:46:26):
just if if that's the, reason because all you, know
when we say when People i'm, tired we're all. Tired
but one THING i, know when it hits the ground
run at six, o'clock we got to go and we,
do AND i and, prepared and then we learn a
lot from our listeners and callers as. Well we've got
to be open to it. All SO i think we
apply all those pretty well. Thoughts so man like that.
Speaker 4 (01:46:43):
Fun just.
Speaker 5 (01:46:44):
Listen IF i, haven't if you're not laughing at seven
in the, morning then IF i can't If i'm driving
IN i know ALLS i say is, well When i'm, DRIVING.
Speaker 4 (01:46:52):
I got to. LAUGH i want.
Speaker 5 (01:46:53):
TO i, WANT i do want our callers and our
listeners to at some point in time spit their coffee.
Speaker 7 (01:46:59):
Out.
Speaker 5 (01:46:59):
Laugh, yeah just as long as it doesn't get on
them And burnham right, right because then we can all
see together it's McDonald's fare you. Go but that's WHAT
i want where it's, like, damn those dudes just said
THAT'S i think the wow factor is part of good, radio,
right and we don't get it right all the, time
BUT i think that if there's if if we're short
on brains or or even we're even bigger on.
Speaker 4 (01:47:19):
Immaturity so, exactly you know, What and the last Thing
i'll say about the that. Caller, look, man this is
a locker. Room this is a fraternity for, us and
we just let everybody into, it, exactly and With sean And, tripley,
like you guys are like family to. Me so this
is my locker. Room and like when we had stand,
here we used to talk about all the time we
(01:47:41):
were passing over. Shows this is the locker, room, Man,
like we talk about things that probably no one else
is ever gonna, hear but when we get on on
this radio, Waves, yeah it's. Poor it's the locker room
because we're sports, guys.
Speaker 5 (01:47:52):
Right and the greatest thing about it is the stuff
you'll never hear in the locker room without Throwing. Nate
we don't know we're a bus tossing, anybody but it
just this is as close as you'll ever get to
it again unless you're. Coaching so it's, funny and we
get to bring in people that have been in their
own locker rooms or. Haven't AND i, Mean i'll tell you.
What the ladies on this, show they call in the
show kick as much ass as anybody. Does so it
(01:48:13):
just you, KNOW i JUST i absolutely, dude Where i'm, At.
Mike the babysitting days are. DONE i just enjoy.
Speaker 4 (01:48:23):
Laughs AND i don't take it that serious. EXACTLY i
TAKE i take BUT i take the job.
Speaker 5 (01:48:28):
Serious, YEAH i would take myself that serious at, This, like,
listen there'll be mistakes to be, had and there'll be
more radio AND tv and all that stuff to be.
Done we all want to get paid but the DAY
i don't enjoy, IT i got plenty of, options just
like we all. Do we can all go do something.
Else and right NOW i love this too.
Speaker 4 (01:48:43):
Much, yeah, man. Exactly, Yeah and let's get To. Brad,
brad we appreciate you holding what's, up.
Speaker 11 (01:48:48):
Buddy you, Know i'm kind of scratching my head on
This aeronado and they're.
Speaker 4 (01:48:54):
Interested.
Speaker 11 (01:48:55):
Again the main, thing what who do you want to
give up up for a declining athlete or he might
have just had a bad. YEAR i don't, know but
he is thirty FOUR i think thirty three or thirty,
four so that's not any. Advantage but who would YOU
i sure wouldn't give up half of the top thirty.
(01:49:19):
PROSPECTS i give him maybe a couple of SINGLE a players.
Speaker 1 (01:49:23):
You've never heard.
Speaker 4 (01:49:24):
Of, So, brad the thing about The aeronauto, trade if
it goes, through if this actually, happens as we discussed
this a couple of days ago On, monday is if
you are going to try to go Get, aeronauto there's
a lot of money attached to, it so you can't
give up. Prospects you're going to have to give up
guys that are on the active roster so you can
move around some. Money SO i don't even think it'd
(01:49:45):
be a, single a, double a. TRIPLE i don't think any.
PROSPECTS i would think it's going to be a guy
Like Rafiel montero and somebody, else you know WHAT i,
Mean because there's money that's got to be moved, around
Because aeronauto's making quite a. Bit if you go and do,
IT i don't, know we'll see.
Speaker 11 (01:49:58):
Though, Yeah and then all of a sudden you got
Cam smith that like blew me, away and who's to
say he doesn't continue. This you can't put that guy
in the. MINORS i, mean you've already got rid Of.
Brigman well he got rid of, himself and then you
traded the other guy for Cam. Smith, hey you've already passed.
(01:50:20):
That now it's time to move on with some of these.
Youngsters you Got, decenzo you got Cam, smith you Got Shae.
Wickham they're all ready to take a. SPOT i think
you just. CAN'T i Think Aaron ottis is just gonna
mess it. Up they didn't learn their lesson with that
first baseman that they are still playing his last year
(01:50:42):
of a twenty million that's not even made in baseball.
Anymore So i'm thinking you've already passed all these who
cares go with these, youngsters and, like LIKE i was
telling you, again Cam, smith what if he keeps doing?
This you, can't you. CAN'T i, MEAN i remember When
bragman first came. UP i think he got like a
(01:51:05):
like a cup of coffee in the minor. Leagues he
was shot right up to the major.
Speaker 7 (01:51:09):
Leagues so that's.
Speaker 11 (01:51:10):
WHY i THINK i would keep Cam smith on the.
Roster and if he takes somebody's, spot maybe he takes
the right field and then you put one of that
right field that they got into center, field and so
somebody's going to be sitting on the.
Speaker 4 (01:51:24):
Bench, yeah it just deepens your. Bench great. Stuff brat
got to run to break great. STUFF i will say,
This it's it's one Thing i've Been it's been on
my mind for a while AND i keep just you,
know it's a note THAT i DON'T i don't talk about,
enough but need. To and it hit me again it
needs to be repeated.
Speaker 3 (01:51:43):
In.
Speaker 5 (01:51:43):
Life think about in business and everything we, do whether
you turn on YOUR, tv sports or, reporters or in
any walk, life you hear the phrase a young infuse young.
Talent we're not afraid to put young, people whether it's
whether it's a an, influencer whether it's a.
Speaker 4 (01:52:02):
You, know any.
Speaker 5 (01:52:03):
Job, Right we're throwing young people into stuff all the,
time all the. Time we got people competing in The
olympics at eighteen years, old at, sixteen at. Fourteen why
are we so afraid when they get to the pros
to promote a young person right?
Speaker 4 (01:52:17):
NOW i don't. Know how are we afraid they can't handle?
IT i, Think but THEN i get.
Speaker 5 (01:52:22):
It but there's a part of me that the more
shelter you put, around protecting them is one, thing sheltering
him is. ANOTHER i don't think that. Helps it's just
weird to. Me baseball is the one. Way AND i
know sometimes, well if you'd have, waited did maybe the
guy'd be. BETTER i know there are stories like, that
but there's also the great stories that we waited too
long to promote a. Guy we listen in this, building
we bring in a guy Like. Tripoli Imagine i'm just
(01:52:44):
gonna use him as an. Example imagine If i'd have
said when you two came, in If i'd have, said,
Yeah brian hasn't done this very.
Speaker 4 (01:52:52):
Long he's new at.
Speaker 5 (01:52:53):
It you know you've been doing. It i'm saying you.
Weren't you hadn't been doing at fifteen. Years she's too, young, Dude,
right you've been all. That you were in the gas
oil and gasp is bring you? In it's, like, eh
not yet would have been a huge mistake because this
has been the best Partner i've ever, had, period And
i've had a lot of good, ones And i've had
more love for this in my. Life imagine If Win
TRIPLE e when we interviewed, him yeah and said too,
(01:53:16):
young let's let him seizing himself on a show that's
not morning drive in one of the big markets in the.
Speaker 4 (01:53:23):
Country what we'd have missed out.
Speaker 14 (01:53:25):
On.
Speaker 5 (01:53:25):
Yeah why is it that we don't do that in
baseball because we're afraid, That, well it's money's invested all. That,
yeah but you find out great things and then the
tough minded ones will learn through their. Mistakes that's the growth.
PART i think we shelter minor league players too. Much
if there's, room let them let it.
Speaker 4 (01:53:42):
Rip, yeah let's, say, yeah let's, go let's discuss. THAT
i think that's a good good topic to. Discuss next right,
here on SPORTS tluk seven to Eighty.
Speaker 5 (01:53:49):

Get out To john Northwest. Side, John welcome in. Brother
how you, doing hey?
Speaker 7 (01:55:06):
Man what's?
Speaker 4 (01:55:07):
Up all? Good my? Man how about? You hey?
Speaker 1 (01:55:10):
Man i'm.
Speaker 7 (01:55:10):
Good i'm. Good you, Know i've just been listening to the,
talk you, know and everything in the house. Season, LOOK
i watched the game. Yesterday. Man, LOOK i know it's, early,
man but a Host.
Speaker 23 (01:55:22):
Kate so the avery red is a little bit there
that That Cam smith, boy the boy got powered with only.
Speaker 7 (01:55:30):
You see it and you hit?
Speaker 4 (01:55:31):
It, Man, YEAH i. Did.
Speaker 5 (01:55:33):
John do you have a problem with are do you
ever worry about because that guy does he's got to
he's about. Sixty he looks like he can play outside.
Linebacker but you saw the power the other. Way and he's,
young AND i know he's a he's a number one.
Prospect are you ever concerned that if you bring a
prospect up too soon that he might ruin his? CONFIDENCE
i think opposite of. THAT i THINK i look at
(01:55:54):
it that if it suffers a little, bit that's part
of the growth of being a great. PLAYER i have
never had a problem with bringing a guy, up even
if at times maybe he needed another month to get.
Ready maybe this would be good for. Him do you
have a problem with him being on the major league
roster early or are you concerned about his?
Speaker 23 (01:56:09):
Youth, well this is my deal right. HERE i don't
think That dash, Though Danny brown then is gonna bring
him up. Further i've always seen great. PLAYERS i played
sports myself WHEN i was a, kid which is not.
Professional But i've always believed in a man if he's
if he's the real, deal you don't have to bring him.
Speaker 7 (01:56:30):
Up he's gonna force his way.
Speaker 1 (01:56:31):
Up just like that makes.
Speaker 4 (01:56:32):
Sense, yeah makes.
Speaker 7 (01:56:33):
Sense. Man you, know if you're the real, deal you're
gonna force.
Speaker 5 (01:56:36):
You, well you're to the point of that if the
guy's so good that they just can't they can't keep him,
down that's. Yours that's what you're talking. About that he'll
dominate so well that they're going to have to bring him.
Up they they have no choice makes sense as.
Speaker 23 (01:56:49):
Well ye look at all the look at a lot
of the players in the, past be you bag well
uh uh at to a guys like.
Speaker 7 (01:56:58):
That guys like that that the real.
Speaker 4 (01:57:00):
Deal.
Speaker 23 (01:57:01):
Man one can ignore them if they want. TO i
wouldn't think they. Will guys like, that, man they push
their way.
Speaker 7 (01:57:06):
Up to the you, know to the major.
Speaker 23 (01:57:08):
League i'm not. Concerned they don't need to rush this
kid up. Here BUT i think the kid gonna be
up here some time this. Year but he Got if
he's that, good you gonna puce his.
Speaker 7 (01:57:17):
Way.
Speaker 23 (01:57:17):
Man BUT i like, it, man so. Far it's very,
early BUT i still didn't like those bombs. Outside y'all tell, me, Man,
Yeah i'm about a, player y'all know. Me i'm about
a player that can play pretty well out on both
sides of the, ball not one. Side if you want
to want my, interest you bet to be able to
hear and play deep.
Speaker 5 (01:57:35):
Ends there you, go, Brother appreciate, It, john great, stuff,
Man and you make a great. Point and maybe that's
with baseball because it's a it's a little. Different there's
so many, layers you, know in, football this spring, league
but it's really. Not their college is really the feeding
ground for THE. Nfl in THE, NBA i, know there's
THE G, league but you don't usually draft the second
pick of the drafter you want him to play right.
Now when you go get A Jalen, green you want
(01:57:56):
to play. Him THE g leagues for, Something and it's
a good it's a it's a closest thing we. Have
the minor, leagues THE G league not named, baseball in
pro sports, hockey they played junior league and they come,
up they're drafted at eighteen and they're playing on that
they're playing in THE nhl the next. Year so it's
pretty impressive to see. It but in, Baseball, johnny you
make a good. Point Maybe i'm one of those guys
(01:58:17):
THAT i don't worry about the guy's confidence BECAUSE i
think you've made it this. Far you've had pitfalls along
the way in your career and you're gonna kick ass
and overcome those. Anyway and that's part of the growth
of being a great player or great in any.
Speaker 4 (01:58:27):
Business you do.
Speaker 5 (01:58:28):
Held the suffering and the adversity actually is what in
the scars frame you AND i think make you who you,
are along with the. Talent but maybe in baseball's, case
And john's points, good and it's happened to a lot of.
Players there's so many layers to. It they will force
their self upon you the great players give you no,
choice and maybe Maybe Cam smith's one of. Those But
(01:58:49):
i'm WITH i Think i'm in the majority with most people.
TOO i don't think i'll put it. THIS i think
you'll see him in a major league uniform extensively. Year
if this is what we see now is real and
all the, talk but it's still early in spring. Training
great point By. John It's Sports talk seven, ninety rolling

or your meal prep with some really healthy.
Speaker 18 (02:01:27):
Protein you'll pop your coke open. Up you ascribed him

on a honey. Bun i'm, like, dude you just add four.
Tacos they were like turkey tacos and all of.
Speaker 5 (02:01:45):
That you're and you'll, look you'll give me the look
out of the side of you are like a kid
who got, caught like steering with the brownies at your
cookies at your mom made and you're, like look at,
Me you're Like.
Speaker 4 (02:01:56):
And there was one day you don't have to hide.
It one day a couple weeks, AGO i had meal
prep every, day and there was one of the DAYS
i WAS i had a badass honey. Bun SO i
usually eat around seven thirty eight and Then i'll save my,
little uh you, know my little my little little honeybun
or WHATEVER i bring for like the nine o'clock hour.
TRIPLELY i. Was it was during a break and SO
i turned AND i had my back fist To sean
(02:02:19):
and he heard meat like he's gonna. Throw he, said
what are you doing and he said, nothing, man AND
i started eating. It that turned. Around he was staring at,
me AND i, said don't judge my honey, bunty because he,
said you're trying to hide it from. ME i was like,

look like moon, pies but their, fruity those little those little, Things,
YEAH i got them from get. Him they're like they're

Speaker 5 (02:02:43):

like thirty minutes, later all of a sudden.
Speaker 4 (02:02:49):
There's that cot accompanied by two bottles of.
Speaker 5 (02:02:52):
Water, yeah and then all of a, sudden all here
he bites into one and he, goes he'll give me
that look a don't judge, me and they're like eight
minutes later he. Gags sometimes all those days he's got
his second one and he's, like, dude what what do you?
Speaker 9 (02:03:05):

the first TIME i got a chance to put my
eyes on the astros and, man to say that you're
impressed with Cam smith would be an.
Speaker 4 (02:04:44):
Understatement, yeah an.
Speaker 24 (02:04:47):
Understatement but the One i'm the One i'm really excited
about is the fifth, starter the West. Nesky, yeah kid
fills up the strike, zone he throws. STRIKES i THINK
i don't think he's gonna have arm trouble hopefully knock on.
Wood but WHAT i really want to talk, about, guys
is Is iHeart. Radio if it wasn't For iHeart, RADIO
(02:05:07):
i wouldn't be talking to you right. NOW i wouldn't
be listening to you BECAUSE i don't have A i
don't have AN am radio in my, house which a
lot of people. Don't And i'm not in my car
that often anymore Because i'm. Retired so you're talking about the.
App you're talking about the, app, right The iHeart radio. App, Yeah,
tony it's, awesome isn't. It it's easy, too isn't.
Speaker 4 (02:05:25):
It it's?
Speaker 24 (02:05:27):

in my, HOUSE i do.
Speaker 3 (02:05:54):
Not.
Speaker 24 (02:05:55):
UH i, have you, know computers and tablets and. Stuff
but Thank god For. iHeartRadio but the astros, listen this
is this is going to be a transition. Season but
if If sean you were talking about this, earlier if
they'll just have a little courage and give the and
and believe in these kids and bring them, up let
(02:06:16):
him struggle a little, bit because going out and getting
An aeronaudo right now is a.
Speaker 4 (02:06:21):
Mistake it would be.
Speaker 24 (02:06:23):
It would you just, listen if we would have Traded
bregman last, year imagine what we'd have gotten for, him
what we look what we got For tucker this. Year
we waited one year too. Long at some point you
got to. Start you don't have to, rebuild but you
have to. Retool you gotta retool on the. Fly SO
i like the. TRADE i Wish Alex bregman. WELL i
(02:06:45):
appreciate his contributions, here but it's time to move, on,
man and can't Camp smith is the real, deal.
Speaker 4 (02:06:51):
Y'all he he he he. IS i don't know where
he's gonna.
Speaker 24 (02:06:53):
Play he may wind up playing at down the, road
he may play first.
Speaker 4 (02:06:57):
BASE i don't, know but you got to get his
bat in the, lineup and you know, what you know,
What tony before you.
Speaker 5 (02:07:03):
Go the one thing about it is and having the
courage to let him, struggle as you AND i have both,
said And, brian no, doubt but you also may discover
through this trade that you found your next outfield superstar, too.
Speaker 4 (02:07:16):
RIGHT i know it's it's, early but he sure has.
All he has all the the optics and the look
at the, plate the body to everything that says that
is a full fledged. Monster and NOW i think about,
it even though they Got Kyle, tucker that had to
be hard for The Chicago cubs to part with. Him
that's that's an, asset. Man that is a. Player that
(02:07:37):
was the one, Chip that was the one.
Speaker 24 (02:07:39):
Ship That dana. Required that was that was that was
that was what the WHOLE i think the whole trade
was pending. On it was not Wasn't. Neskin it wasn't
the third. Baseman it was Camp smith's and that's the
one that they did not want to part. With i'll
tell you WHO i was excited about yesterday as. Well
uh not only the way he, pitched but the way
he spoke afterwards in the. Dugout that's that's uh force
litlely uh man he was he was up to ninety seven.
(02:08:02):
Yesterday it just it just the way he, spoke and
it's like he gets. It, man he's had some, injuries
he hadn't been on the field and he, realized.
Speaker 4 (02:08:09):
You, know he said that he talked about the elephant
in the. Room But, tony that.
Speaker 5 (02:08:12):
Also validates what you're talking. About Forest whitley's been through
baseball hell and. Back baseball. Hell i'm not about life
held baseball hell and back for a lot of different,
reasons which which which a lot of people would have.
Quit they would they would have wilted this. Guy the
wilt factor has not existed because injuries and wait and
(02:08:33):
command and everything that you could imagine that you, say,
dude are you have you had?
Speaker 4 (02:08:38):
Enough? NO i.
Speaker 5 (02:08:39):
Haven't i'm getting back up off this damn canvas and
all this even though it didn't happen, Early it still could,
happen and it could be epic for. Him is all
the stuff he's been through, will if he's, healthy will
make him.
Speaker 4 (02:08:52):
Better it just.
Speaker 5 (02:08:53):
Will even though at the time he's going through, it
he probably can't even think about what the what the
the other end of the tunnel looks. Like but that
stuff there is exactly what you're describing. About it is
he's been through baseball hell for a guy that the
expectations were through the, roof and you know, what he's
pumping it at ninety. Seven he may very well find
himself now after all. This And i'll guarant ask to
(02:09:15):
you when he's interviewed three years from, now if he's
had great, Success, tony you AND i both know, it
he's gonna say going through those times was SOMETHING i
hated at the, time but, man it proved he's gonna.
Learn he learned something about. Himself i'll guarant asked he.
It SO i couldn't root harder for, him, MAN i.
Couldn't i'm pulling for him big. Time and and the
thing about, him he's twenty seven years. Old if he
(02:09:36):
if he if he he made his first he made
his he made his debut last. Year so you're gonna
have control over him through his through his uh dominant
years man twenty seven to thirty thirty, two, right his productive.
Speaker 4 (02:09:48):
Years so and then you got control over. Him you
don't have to you.
Speaker 24 (02:09:51):
Know you, KNOW i spent a whole lot of. Money
So i'm pulling For Force. Whitley i'm REALLY i really
want to make see him make the ball club AND
i want see them use him in a way that
it's beneficial for both him and the, club AND i
want to see him have. SUCCESS i think HE'S i
think he's like you, Said, sean he could have quit
a long time.
Speaker 5 (02:10:10):
Ago easy to root for, Him, Yep i'm with, you
easy to root For how you guys have a great day, Too.
Speaker 4 (02:10:15):
Tony thanks.
Speaker 5 (02:10:16):

Like, man are you listening to the.
Speaker 25 (02:15:23):
Show it's getting a little, feisty AND i didn't really hear,
it But i'm kind of piecing it all.
Speaker 4 (02:15:28):
Together and you, know here's my, thoughts. Guys Number, one
for you, guys it's got to be, hard, right it's four.
Hours you can't just talk.
Speaker 25 (02:15:36):
Sports forty percent of the TIME i want to hear the,
sports but sixty percent of the TIME i want to
hear you. Guys cutting, up like talking About sean's days
In San diego and and The Cody johnson stuff and
all the stuff that we're talking.
Speaker 4 (02:15:51):
About so once AGAIN i say this, before but we love.
It we love it when you guys you know you're,
Stupid we're. Stupid, yeah every DAY i consider myself the
third biggest city stand in. Line.
Speaker 5 (02:16:05):
Right you know what s, Dude Big jay IS i
always when people talk about it's a sports, Show, well
WHEN i turn on like country and music station or
a rock, station you know what they do talk about at?
Speaker 4 (02:16:16):
Times? Sports, yeah the True so you know What i'm.
Speaker 5 (02:16:19):
Saying so it's actually, okay it may be a sports,
station it's an entertainment stake we were trying to do
and we spend most, sports but, man live if the
hosts are going to get bogged down by sports four
hours a, day five days a, week talk About, now
it's important to talk sports when it, matter but it's
also to weave in some, laughs real life stuff that
people are driving in laughing.
Speaker 4 (02:16:38):
At to, me that's why you'd keep coming.
Speaker 5 (02:16:41):
BACK i, mean the sports is, awesome but you gotta
have you gotta have we got to be able to
laugh at. Ourselves and have some, fun, Man and we
do that every, day so that's never going to. Change
And I've i've made that point. Clear IF i had
to work with somebody who saw sports four hours a,
day guess what one of us is.
Speaker 25 (02:16:56):
Gone they do, it that's, right like The copagan story
the other, day and that was one of the most hilarious.
Things and then to fit The robert Url king, Song
oh my, gosh come, on you can't script anything better
than that Left.
Speaker 4 (02:17:11):
You're sure as hell couldn't have scripted that copenhaggend, night,
BROTHER i promise you. That no, man little little little
lippy right. Up oh, yeah you, Know andy, SAID i
think he Was andy who was talking about the honey.
Buns the best. Honey, Yeah i'm gonna finish with. This
the best way to eat the honey bun is off A. Bbw.
Speaker 1 (02:17:28):
Baby you guys have.
Speaker 4 (02:17:29):
A great rest of the. Week love you by the,
way BIG. Jj you're you're so immature.
Speaker 11 (02:17:39):
Year old.
Speaker 4 (02:17:39):
Man one of these Days i'm gonna grow.
Speaker 5 (02:17:41):
Up don't because if you do grow, up we don't
watch it on THE Showct you, go, thanks, brother appreciate
you the best.
Speaker 4 (02:17:49):
Man he sure.
Speaker 5 (02:17:50):
Does, man he gets losses and which one is the
honey buns Exactly Kennon good, Morning.
Speaker 6 (02:17:59):
Yeah wanting to hear on the mastros and, Uh i'm
glad y'all brung that took my attention. Before, man it
was about that, hour, heart BECAUSE i spent time Between
houston And, chicago AND i was missing the show WHILE i,
was uh at my second. Home and one THING i
wanted to see what attracts me to the. Show, uh
(02:18:21):
that's there's no sports widows. Here you got some female, callers,
Man they really know their business and, uh And i'm
pretty impressed with. Them AND i wanted to hit on.
THIS i missed on it. YESTERDAY a lot of times
the callers always end up seeing WHAT i want to
say BEFORE i get on. Here BUT i wanted to
come in about the sports nutrition and these injury prone
(02:18:44):
uh playoffs. Man AND i looked at Like Hank. Aaron
did anybody ever Seen Hank? Aaron and during his, time.
Speaker 4 (02:18:53):
You didn't have.
Speaker 6 (02:18:54):
Nutritions his nutrition was pretty much like, mine my, mother you.
Know and, uh this guy, here you, know and he
was he wasn't a physical, specimen uh like a bear
ball into these other guys and nothing like. That but and,
(02:19:14):
uh like one of your call is seeing something this
morning about protecting and. Sheltering do you think they sheltering
them into this kim reserving these guys and not letting
them have theohold not they should have to make it
because you, know if you're not strong, enough you get
pushed out the. This but look like in this baseball bomb,
(02:19:36):
system they keeping in the this Of. Blake you, KNOW
i just wanted to put that out, there you.
Speaker 5 (02:19:41):
Know, YEAH, jp great stuff and great, point AND i
think that kind of goes he just AND jp if
something that Was kenneth WHAT i, Said, Oh JP's up, Next,
Kenneth sorry about. That kenneth calls all the, time which
that we love hearing From. Kenneth you you make a phenomenal.
Point and even if somebody says what you had on your,
mind the way you frame it's, different AND i like.
Speaker 4 (02:19:59):
IT i think it's important and the way you framed
it is. Good you're. Right do you keep him in
the nest too?
Speaker 5 (02:20:04):
Long AND i think that's the genius of like The
Dana browns or when you, Know Jeff luno or, whoever
And Dana brown now of anybody in any sport when
to know, when especially in baseball with the focus in minor,
leagues you know SINGLE a and DOUBLE a and all
the different opportunities and get into TRIPLE a Sugar land
when to do it and when not, to but also
when to take the chance and when not.
Speaker 4 (02:20:25):
To AND i think part of that is finding out.
Speaker 5 (02:20:27):
Which guys see they're just we think that they're study
that they just study the physical side of how good
a player, is right five? Tools do they have? It
but you also got to study the mental toughness of a.
Guy how does he respond after he strikes out four
times in a? Game takes the oh what the the golden? Sombrero?
Right or how does he respond when he when he's had?
Success does he still work the same after success as
(02:20:48):
he does after? Failure because the tendency for most is
when you're when you're when you're, successful you can back
off a. Little when, truth that's when the real grind.
Stays so you stay there and maintain that and sustain
that level of consus. See BUT i thought he can't
point it out great about at? Times DO i do
you think that they did not just here but anywhere in?
Baseball do the guys stay in the nest sometimes too,
(02:21:09):
LONG i, DO i think at. TIMES i think for
the most, part the scouting departments and in front offices
and general managers and when to bring them. UP i
think for the most, part most of them air on
the side of. Protection, yes because it's an, investment, right
AND i get. It but sometimes it's like, gold you
get your precious. Metals but you got to take that.
(02:21:31):
Chance can you mean you take a chance On Ronald
acuny it works, out you know What i'm. Saying Bryce,
harper it may work out here and some it. Doesn't
there's there's probably more stories that it. Didn't but whether
you took a chance on him earlier or later, on
guys that are destined to be great players are going
to get. There we just so for us as, fans
sometimes we want it a little, quicker, yeah. Faster And
(02:21:51):
kenneth makes a great. POINT i do think there's that nest.
There sometimes you just got to give him the boot
and say get your ass upstairs and go, play and
we'll see how you handle the six and.
Speaker 4 (02:22:00):
FAILURE i think it's important seven one, three, two one two, five.
Seven it has continue to rollong right here On SPORTS
tlok seven to. Eighty The Sean Salisbury show. Continued Corona, Hummel,
Paradis Corona Hummel. HUMBLE i think It's Kennedy, Corona, Yeah
(02:22:20):
Hooper hummel East Soak. Paradis, yeah so we have a
a have A uh who did give me the first?
One who's?
Speaker 1 (02:22:27):
Leading? Now?
Speaker 5 (02:22:28):
Kennedy, Yeah Corona, corona we got a. Beer uh huh
driving in a hummer and celebrating a. Parade, Yeah Kennedy corona.
Playing Thenter Field Cooper hummel if you remember, Him. Blummer
he likes to uh thing music and.
Speaker 4 (02:22:43):
Then play as the. Guitar paraders is our versatile. Infielder
and Then ethoch played the. Parades there you. Go see
they can go bango and. Bongo you got the slim
down And Jack John thingleton over at, First he'll go,
Ahead john Will hill one upstairs this. Year, YEAH i
can't wait to see. Upstairs oh, yeah that's gonna be
nice to that flip king. Man but but he does
(02:23:05):
it all in one fell swoot so.
Speaker 5 (02:23:07):
Smooth most hesitate and take a step and look and
then Batflor he's boom home run while the bat's still finishing.
Speaker 4 (02:23:13):
Batflies, johnny he's got that, down, Man. John That's. JOHNNY
i like, It, Johnny johnny on the, SPOT, jp good,
morning what's going?
Speaker 11 (02:23:24):
On?
Speaker 14 (02:23:25):
FILLERS i usually called in The john From, richmond but
after that last, MAN i WAS i had to change
my damn name up a little.
Speaker 7 (02:23:32):
BIT i wanted to GET i wanted to get you guys.
Speaker 14 (02:23:36):
Up i'm, sorry, Triply i'm Usually john For. RICHMOND i
had to call in THIS, jp BUT.
Speaker 7 (02:23:41):
I wanted to get you.
Speaker 14 (02:23:42):
Guys appearing on the UPCOMING nfl, Draft why did they
talk about the quarterback from will From Ohio State Will.
HOWARD i think he's a better prospect than both of
the guys named ahead of, him cam what's his?
Speaker 6 (02:23:57):
Name Cam?
Speaker 4 (02:23:57):
Ward And Sdor? Sanders sure, Man.
Speaker 14 (02:24:01):
Sehn what's your opinion?
Speaker 7 (02:24:03):
On what's your grade on On Will?
Speaker 4 (02:24:04):
Howard man And i'll hang up the list APPRECIATES, JP.
Speaker 5 (02:24:07):
JP i think that he is A i learned a
lot about him this, year going to a team that
threw the ball a little more than where he was
at At Kansas state before.
Speaker 4 (02:24:16):
That, right.
Speaker 5 (02:24:19):
He is not going to be drafted. High he's going
to be a, guy big body and pretty damn athletic
for a guy.
Speaker 4 (02:24:26):
Who you know what it. Is he's one of those
guys that you.
Speaker 5 (02:24:29):
Run he, says he that fast does he make things,
Out but he's a really he can play two. DIMENSIONAL
i personally think he's a guy that gets drafted somewhere
in the let me, say third to the fifth, round
probably fourth or fifth.
Speaker 4 (02:24:40):
ROUND i don't really care about.
Speaker 5 (02:24:43):
GRADES i care about, production AND i think there's things
to like about him more than the other two guys
THAT jp.
Speaker 4 (02:24:49):
Mentioned he.
Speaker 5 (02:24:52):
Did he's not a this way he doesn't Do he
doesn't do most of the stuff where it's like epic and.
Speaker 4 (02:24:58):
Great but he's. Accurate he's, accurate and he can. Move
and he.
Speaker 5 (02:25:03):
Proved to you under the worst to serve or under
the most pressure of. Circumstances remember, now he didn't get down.
Proper remember the opening game Against, oregon time out problems right.
Right they got beat By, michigan no doubt got beat By.
Michigan all the stuff That Ryan day was going, through
so Was Will. Howard of all questions should he be the?
(02:25:24):
Court you heard it all and as the season went
on in the, postseason he played his best. Football he
was accurate and he LED i THINK jp he's a,
guy developmental. Guy he's a little, older has been in
a lot of, football that you can trust a little.
Sooner he's the guy that hangs, around makes a roster
and or at least have a. Chance now he's gonna
(02:25:46):
have to shine in training campus depending on who they
draft him from, him he's the guy who put on your,
roster feels like a coach on the, field and that
you can trust because he's played a lot of football
and he now he knows what it feels like to
win a. CHAMPIONSHIP i like his. ACCURACY i think he's
a little bit underrated. PROJECT i think he makes a squad.
Speaker 4 (02:26:03):
Now who's.
Speaker 5 (02:26:03):
Knows he's a guy that ends up in the league ten,
years who goes First quen yours or Or Will howard
yours soon but won't be in the first. Round the
third quarterback on that list to me Is Jackson.
Speaker 7 (02:26:15):
Dart.
Speaker 5 (02:26:16):
Yeah, now the great thing or the unfortunate thing for
those who draft him Is i'm not sure the fourth
or fifth guy on this. List let's just, use for,
instance The syracuse kid who was At Ohio state That
Will howard, replaced that went on and had a broke
the all TIME acc passing Record cord and he did
(02:26:38):
a Good he played well At Ohio, state but you
saw his ability shine throwing the football At. Syracuse how
do we know he's not going to be the best
of all of? Them normally there's a chance in this
one that the fifth guy Out i'm talking about guys
outside that, now the fifth guy in the first, round
and Like Lamar jackson back in his, day you, know
he was drafted a little bit later later has proven
(02:26:59):
that he belongs at the top of that. Class right
one of, THEM i think That Will howard's the type
of guy who can prove that he can make things,
happen or A kyle. McCord So i'm not dead set
That ward Or Sheder. Sanders ten years from, now we're
going to say those were the two, best but we
could also say that those were the dominant ones because
they're both got great. ABILITY i think like one and
(02:27:20):
two are a little bit, separate BUT i think there's
a six or seven guys that in five years we could, say,
man the seventh guy was better than the third, guy
and it should not shock. YOU i Think howard's got
some ability because he's wins and he's. Accurate, yeah and
those two things matter at THE nfl. Level, Yeah and
the second half of the season he played lights out.
Speaker 4 (02:27:40):
Football.

not good for. Us let's he was that he.
