Speaker 1 (00:02):
Saulsby, Okay, let's do this.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Sewn Salisbury.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
To usc true longtime friend Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Dan Matthewscus.

Speaker 4 (00:17):
This is the Sean Salisbury Show.

Speaker 5 (00:23):
Shangoon takes the inbounds pass Draymond's with him, hands it
to Fred left side launch of a three.

Speaker 6 (00:28):
It is up and it's all the way and Goon
big triple. First basket not named Shangoon or Thompson in
this quarter twenty two for Fred rebounded Draymond Green into
the hands of Curry across McCourt to his right for
heeled slides up to his left three for the lead.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
It is up to.

Speaker 6 (00:46):
Ten mayor one O two one old one shot clock
at five baseline left.

Speaker 7 (00:52):
Butler can test a three.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
He's found.

Speaker 7 (00:57):
By Dylan Brooks base line right.

Speaker 6 (01:00):
Fred van Blie to Shanghu with ten seconds remaining, at
the top of the key at the free throw line,
a jump book from fourteen feet side rate right missed
the rebound Jimmy button over the fowl four seconds left,
four seconds remaining.

Speaker 7 (01:15):
Sengland's got to end on it. Gives it to Fred.
He's at mid court right side, going to launch a
three for the tie. It is on the way and
it's an airball and the Warriors winning the.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Name, Yeah, that happened. Rocket's now on the brink of elimination.
Down three to one to the Golden State Warriors in
the Western Conference playoffs following a one o nine, one
oh six loss. But the Astros beat the Tigers save
five in the opening of their series at dyke In Park.
And with all that we say away we go. Good

(01:45):
morning here on the Sean Salisbury Show. Yeah, good morning man.

Speaker 5 (01:49):
It's uh, it's gonna be tough to overcome for the Rockets. Again,
not great at the free throw line, right, They're okay,
you know, keep watching it. They you know, went on
the backboards and do their thing. But and Shengoon did
his thing. But once again, Jalen Green was not the
three losses. He's been bad. When I say bad, I

(02:12):
mean it's put it this way. The distance between the
extremes between the good and the not so good in
this series for him, his first playoff series as it made.
That's a distance between here and Abilene, it really has.
And look at the result and it's not just one
guy's fault, but it is Golden State. They know how

(02:33):
to play and they did that with Steph Curry scoring
I think seventeen last night.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Yeah, and so watch it.

Speaker 5 (02:41):
They're just you run into something who's got a little
bit more experience and gets it done. And when you're
playing teams like that, and especially going on the road
in a series, once you end up going anyway, no
matter when you play in the playoffs.

Speaker 8 (02:53):
But you get my point is.

Speaker 5 (02:55):
You got to I mean, I know it's easy to
play at home, but you have to have your best
on the road.

Speaker 8 (03:00):
You just do.

Speaker 5 (03:02):
Teams that win championships in all sports you look back
at their like road record. I remember when the when
the New York Giants beat those Patriots in the first
Super Bowl started off that year. They weren't very good,
but they want to they were so good on the road.
You look when Aaron Rodgers won his first Super Bowl
when they're a wild card team and injured. When I'm

(03:23):
going the road, road road, win a Super Bowl, you
just have to be great on the road.

Speaker 8 (03:27):
The team.

Speaker 5 (03:27):
Now, I know with playoff in seven games series, well
of course you doah, yeah you do. But you know
a lot of teams, if you have home court advantage,
you just win the games at home. You're good, but
that that's not realistic. Mostly it's not usually four to
three and you won all four at your place and
they won three in their building, right where an you're
the and you're the higher seed. So they just they're
they're they're getting valuable experience. But I'm this isn't a

(03:49):
moral victory. You know, Tuesday normally a moral victory Monday
coming out of the weekend for the Rockets, they're down
three to one. Now series isn't over, but this is
tough sled. Put it this way, who would you give
a better chance to come back Rockets against Golden State
three to one?

Speaker 1 (04:05):
Lakers against when they both are three to one. You know,
you would think that the answer would be the other.
But I gotta go Rockets just because of what Minnesota
has with Anthony Edwards, Julius Randall, Dante, Evencenzo, I mean,
just a much better team as opposed to the Lakers,
who pretty much it's Lebron and Luca and I just

(04:27):
I feel like much better team.

Speaker 5 (04:28):
But I think the experience like Golden State, if it
was reversed and it was Golden State, Chase and Houston
and the Lakers, I'd give them both of the just
because of their postseason chops.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
That's my thing.

Speaker 5 (04:40):
Do I think that the Rockets are more talented from
top to bottom than than Golden State.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
I absolutely do. But the fact that.

Speaker 5 (04:47):
Lebron and Luca have been in it for a minute,
I would give the Lakers a better chance to come
back than the Rockets.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Well, I mean, and you were talking about how Steph
Curry last night was held much in check. Brandon Pajenski
with twenty six points, Jimmy Butler twenty seven exactly, and
then Quinton Post off the bench thirteen points. I mean,
the Rockets have been running a pretty tight rotation of
just three guys off the bench, Tarry East and Jabari
Smith Junior, who was really good last night. Can't take

(05:18):
away from Jabari Smith Junior, who I think actually has
taken a step in this series. And then Steven Adams
was outstanding for you. But I mean, you mentioned the
free throws nineteen of thirty one. That's sixty one percent
from the free throw line. You you cut that number
by four right there, twenty three of thirty one. That's
still not great. But we're talking about a Rockets win

(05:40):
today as opposed to a three point loss.

Speaker 5 (05:42):
When we started this series, did I what did I say?
Just like in college? Sheops, I said the same thing.
I said, You're gonna have to contest and defend. Obviously,
you got to get in the backboards. When I put rebounding,
I'm talking about on the offensive end too, I kind
of put that in with playing defense.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
They're rebounding to you.

Speaker 5 (05:58):
Know, blue collar hard work, get in positioned, grind for it, right,
those things, that's what defenses. So I kind of put
them in the same category. You're going to have to
knock down open look threes, and I said, most importantly,
you're going to have to also shoot free throws, a
stayut of foul trouble, just basic stuff. And in truth,

(06:19):
the basics either get you beat or get you a victory.
And this is perspective. The Rockets shoot free throws in
this postseason like a center wood that has no touch. Well,
think about it now.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
I mean, I'm laughing because you're one hundred percent right,
But it's also I mean it's played itself out because
that's been albranching good right, And that's.

Speaker 5 (06:44):
What I'm saying. It's like you take take it on
the personality of it is my point. They shoot free
throws when you got a bigger ah, here comes the
seven foot or so, unless it's a Novitzki or a
guy who can fill it right at the line as
an eighty ninety two percent free throw shooter, it's your
normal big not shack, but not abdul Jabbar, who's like

(07:06):
seventy two percent from them right at least somewhere in betwards.
A big man, it doesn't really have any touch that
you want to foul him when it's the hack time
and send him to the line. Sixty one percent, that's
how they shoot, like a big man whose hands are
too big for the basketball. Percentage wise, that's what it
looks like. Oh yeah, sixty one percent. You can't And

(07:27):
I know some of that may fall on a guy
who is a sixty percent free throw shooter most of
the time anyway, because he gets to the line more.
But the point is is that when you come out
nineteen to thirty one, the distance was a three point shot.
That was that was a margin of victory, just a
knockdown three, which, like you said, if you go five
extra free throws and you're twenty four of thirty one,

(07:50):
is that really too much to ask on a basketball
team for.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
It shouldn't be exactly, it shouldn't be.

Speaker 5 (07:55):
And you think about all the thing, and there's other
things that go into it. I get all that, But
when you go back and look at just the base stuff.
In baseball from little league, if your pitcher isn't any good,
you get beat in high school football, if you don't
have defense, you're probably getting beat in NBA basketball. Just

(08:17):
like in seventh grade Swickly, Pennsylvania, or San Diego, California,
in your junior high league, if you shoot fifteen to
twenty eight and they shoot twenty five of twenty eight,
guess who's winning, Usually regardless of what happened on the
court during play. Not stop down to shoot free throws.

(08:38):
The most elementary of things that your dad took you
to when you were in the fifth grade in a
free throw shooting contest is what this team unfortunately can't
knock down. But damn, open look threes are a higher
you know when you get to and it's not legit,
it's a little hyperbolic, but it feels like, oh, open
look threes or shooting long range jumpers gives you as

(08:58):
just as chating much chance to is to shoot a
free throw. Well, there's a bigger difference. Nobody's shooting sixty
one percent from thirty feet. You get my point, though,
the optics look as if Okay, what's the baseline, what
is the undercurrent of a series? They played pretty good
defense at times in the series they did, I mean

(09:19):
a lot of times good stops. They didn't match it
on the offensive end, and they for the most part,
I think in most of these games they won the
rebounding battle, so that that goes to defense. So I
don't think there's any question about the effort of the
type you're putting in or playing smart defense. Think about
this the Oh, by the way, statistic just shoot free throws.

(09:41):
Make free throws. You tell your eighth grade kids that
make free throws. High school, make some free throws, college,
make some free throws.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
NBA. Just because you can shoot and dunk, guess what,
you still.

Speaker 8 (09:52):
Gotta do make throws. And they didn't.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
Well, I mean, it's so much to the point that
Steve Kerr had his team doing the hack of Steven Adams.
Hacking Adams, wouldn't you, I mean, why not? Yeah? Exactly,
because I mean, I mentioned the Rockets were sixty three
percent from the line. You know what the Warriors were.

Speaker 5 (10:11):
Do the math on the distance and just the free
throws alone. Even though I think the Rockets shot more,
I didn't see the total number for Golden State's thirty
one free throws. I don't think they shot as many.
I think I was going to say twenty three, but
they were like twenty of twenty three or nineteen of
twenty three.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
Right, yeah, there you go.

Speaker 5 (10:29):
You just they just didn't miss, and that ends up
being the difference in a game.

Speaker 8 (10:35):
Free throws the.

Speaker 5 (10:37):
Very basically, we kind of oh, it's the oh, by
the way, stat oh yeah, they're they're good. And then
you start even on these the shows, you know, the
talk shows, the pregame shows and all that, Oh do.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
All this, do all this, do all this.

Speaker 5 (10:49):
I'll play defense, can get it to the big man
as Shane Goudon's got to run the court, Jalen Green, O,
you got to stop Steph Crey from shooting. And you
know Draymond Green's antics on the court. And oh, by
the way, that did. Jimmy Butler would a great addlet
oh yeah yeah, and make sure it's the out the
door screen by the coach, not that they do it.
Hey hey, knock down your free throws, get a few
in and warm ups nineteen to thirty one.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
Well, it's the special teams of basketball. I mean, because
especially when you get into the playoffs in the NFL,
for example, it's both team missed extra points in field goals.
It's missed extra points in field goals. It's all sides
to take you out of field goal range. You know,
put a massive hold or even a return called back.
There you go, or you know, as we saw the

(11:31):
Texans last year, a fifteen yard personal foul penalty that
puts you on your goal line and in your quarterback,
it's sacked in the end zone, the game's over. I mean,
it's it's all of those things. And I mean, and
these are things, Sean, It's not like that they necessarily
had a precipitous drop off in the season. They were
bad during the season. Oh, there's no doubt. I'm just
trying to you know, I'm trying to compartmentalize. Say, okay,

(11:52):
the trend of they weren't a great free throw shooting
team anyway, which tells you how good they are when
the ball is actually in play right, that they've really
had a good season, but they didn't shoot great free throws.
But I'm always thinking, okay, I don't like to judge
a team in the preseason from in the regular season
by what they did in the preseason. Thinking okay, man,
because you're experimenting here going and I'm thinking, dang, because
if you watch, the trend tells you they weren't going

(12:14):
to shoot good free throws, right, But you're hoping that
there's okay, it's you know, a little more focused attention
to detail, whatever it is. Yeah, raise your game.

Speaker 5 (12:22):
But I'll be damn dude.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
You are what you.

Speaker 5 (12:27):
Water and feed. And it's the old Chuck Knox used
my coach, my rookie year, the old school Chuck Knox.
She say garbage. He called it gigo g I g
o garbage in, garbage out. And if that's I'm not
saying the team's garbage. But free throws. Missing free throws
makes you feel like gar It's like, oh, that's trout.
How do we not do it right? You're standing there
fifteen feet knock it down and we all say hell.

(12:50):
In a pair of shorts and a T shirt, I
can go out there in a baseball cap or a
suit and time make nineteen to thirty one, and I
believe I can't. But then there's the pressure of the
game and all that, right, it all comes into play.
But the truth is is you go through all these
you know, the preparation and all the things that matter,
and the basics, simple basics of what help you win

(13:11):
and lose games, and you may work. I mean, whether
it's I don't know. I would like to think it's
more important. I mean, you know, you applied special teams,
which a spot on it's almost like small ball bunting
to guy on second. Can you just hit the ball
the right side one time or lift a fly ball
to deepen se second to third time. Whether it's but
I don't care. How you do it, find a way
to move them over the same thing here and this

(13:32):
should you feels like it should be easier because the
ball's coming at you ninety five miles an hour.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
This one.

Speaker 5 (13:36):
You're standing there, nobody's containing your got a knock down
free throws. But the trend of okay, now, it's the
intensity of the postseason. Maybe that there's attention to detail.
But think about that, you're going back the simplest thing
that you probably started doing before you even shot jump shots.
You worked at the free throw I know I did.
I get free throw and make free throws. That's where

(13:57):
you started. Move the free throw line up when you
were young, and move it back, kept going and now
here you are and you're the thing that's going to
cost you in this series that you're gonna go home
is is if you don't win it is You're not
knocking down nineteen to thirty one against Golden State and
winning three in a row. I'm just gonna tell you
that now. That's basically the point I'm trying to me.
You ain't knock if you go nineteen to thirty one

(14:18):
in one of these three games, let alone more than one.
If that shooting sixty percent from the free throw line,
you will not win three in a row.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
You just won't.

Speaker 5 (14:27):
You may do that against Miami when they're getting given it,
getting beat by fifty three. You may do that with
them or fifty five are you and getting swept, But
you ain't doing it right now with the Golden Sea.
You just not too much experience, because I guarantee you
they're they're not shoot nineteen to thirty one for the
free throw line, especially if the point guard's the guy.
You know, if the guard's got the ball but logged

(14:47):
a lot of minutes, say just whatever it is, but
you don't change your entire coat of armor from regular
season to postseason. We probably should have seen it coming.
That's why they got to put them and better position
the other place. But this team, I'm not telling anything.

Speaker 8 (15:03):
They don't know.

Speaker 5 (15:03):
You just got to be able to and I'll sewan
it's harder than it looks. Well, probably, but if there's
one thing to do where you know guarantee you're getting
a uncontested shot shooting free throws, you can't go nineteen
to thirty one expect to win, especially when you're playing
against a team that goes twenty to twenty two or
twenty of twenty three, whatever it was.

Speaker 1 (15:18):
Well, if you hope for championship results, you gotta do
the championship things. Then going nineteen to thirty one from
the free throw line is not championship and.

Speaker 5 (15:25):
It can't be an oh, by the way on the
way out, it's by the way. It is the thing, Well,
it starts there, that's the basis of it. Then it
works the other way. It's not the other way where
that's not the inverting the pyramid where the free throws
is you know what I'm saying they are, that's where
the base of a defense. Shoot free throws, be well
conditioned and get on the backboards. Then we'll work from there.

(15:46):
I got those four things in each boom boom, boom boom.
Now I got a chance to go. But you got
two of them and two of them are left out.

Speaker 8 (15:53):
What happened?

Speaker 1 (15:53):
That crumbles?

Speaker 8 (15:54):
Right?

Speaker 5 (15:55):
Can't you have to do those things? And I'll be
damned if if you can't move runners over. Hard to win,
can't kick the ball of the ballpark at times, win
runners in scoring position. Hard to win, you don't pitch well,
it's hard to win. It's really hard to win the
playoffs if you can't shoot a free throw.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
Yep. The Rockets have found that out again, down three
to one in the series one six loss last night
to the Warriors in Game five tomorrow night, Jason, see
you're right there, and we can continue the Rockets conversation
here because the difference is striking when it comes to
the Rockets against the Warriors. We'll talk about that here.
Sean Salisbury show this is Craig Busy.

Speaker 5 (16:31):
You're listening to Sean Salisbury on Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 2 (16:36):
Ft.

Speaker 8 (16:37):
You're home with the stros.

Speaker 1 (16:39):
Oh, I'm made of questions and I'm also made of emotions.

Speaker 5 (16:42):
From it your but your poetry in motion, I mean,
I don't know what the rhyming scheme is. Maybe I'm
a haikup Okay, although haikus are relaxed, I'm not really,
mister movie quote. Yeah, let's see if you can do
it with the cuts?

Speaker 1 (16:58):
All right?

Speaker 5 (16:59):
When I say you are poetry in motion, what song
has that phrase in it? Mister movie cut?

Speaker 9 (17:07):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (17:08):
When it comes to lyrics, I'm I'm all the way out.
You're out.

Speaker 5 (17:11):
So it doesn't all the time, your lyrics don't match
your You can't like if I say what song is
this in I give you that phrase that you you
won't be able to do it like it.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
But if I say that.

Speaker 5 (17:20):
In like like, hey, you can't handle the truth, you'll
find out.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
You know the movie right? You know that?

Speaker 5 (17:26):
So if I say, of course, poetry in motion, right,
you don't know what song it is? Now? If I
do this, it's this magical voice right now. If I say.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
Poetry in motion now she's making love to me. Is
that just deep as any ocean?

Speaker 8 (17:44):
Now do you know what song it is?

Speaker 1 (17:45):
Is that she blinded me with science thing? Go there
you go, say da frig I was gonna say that,
you know, not rhyming, the the melodic you know way
that you went through it all. I was like, I
was like, okay, I get the rhythm here.

Speaker 5 (18:00):
I don't know if I'm supposed to say, damn, Sewan,
you brought it going acapella and poetry in motion, blinding.

Speaker 1 (18:05):
Me to sciences early in the morning.

Speaker 5 (18:07):
I mean it took three cents and you got it,
which either tells me either paying attention or that my
voice is well a combination of Fergi and Jesus. Yeah,
a songbird of this generation. Yeah, I really am.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
John c. Raley wasn't talking about bre're not about you
did not mention him.

Speaker 5 (18:24):
Just keep your niz. That's off my drum set.

Speaker 8 (18:27):
You not.

Speaker 5 (18:29):
I don't touch my drum set. Okay, what are you doing?

Speaker 2 (18:31):
Yes?

Speaker 5 (18:32):
But see so poetry in motion, see what I did there?
So I think it has to do with my the
magic in my acapella voice. Really really, if you just
ask me, if you want to know I'll make sure.

Speaker 1 (18:45):
I feel like Kendrick is in this room. Yeah, there
you go. Is that the kid's perfect? Perfect?

Speaker 5 (18:51):
Yeah, a lot of good voices in that. There are
a lot of good voices in those movies. I'll tell
you one thing. I'm just teasing it. You're basically a pentatonic.
Now bad, they're pretty good. At Christmas time, I'll get Setatics. Yeah,
good Christmas group them and Boublay. That's right, they absolutely
just bring in the royal time. I called him Michael Bubble.
That's what I like to call him, Yeah, because I

(19:11):
think that is his name, probably is. I think his
name is Michael Bubble. And at one point time when
he hit about twenty one or twenty two, and they
said you're a kroner dude, Yeah, you're a crooner, you
got you got a voice.

Speaker 1 (19:21):
Somebody somebody finally went to him and said, it can't
be Bubble, dude. You put a tuxedo on this guy.
We tighten up his haircut a little bit and give
him a little bit the accent mark on that e.

Speaker 5 (19:29):
Yeah, and we'll go boue Blaze ups perfect. Yeah, Hey,
Michael Bubble. Now, ladies and gentlemen, Welcome to the Grammys.
Michael Bubble, I mean Michael bou Blay. Yeah, Bubble right,
Michael Bubble, No, dude, we can't do that. Let's try
that again. We like, welcome to the stage. You're twenty
twenty four, five time Oscar nomination and two time Grammy winner.

(19:51):
Michael Bubble. Now no, Michael boo Blaye, Yeah, ya say
yeah Bubble Bubble. He he's the lounge act in Vegas.
Boo blaye, Yeah, Well Bubbles the Bubbles he opens for Bouble. Yeah,
that's that's that is. I'm just going to say this
on the tees, Okay, I know we got callers to
get to I say this on the teas for a
topic we are going to talk about.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
You are just as close to.

Speaker 5 (20:16):
Nineteen seventy six age gap from now to nineteen seventy
six as our topic will be an age gap. I
want you mull that one over and tell me it's
still not undefeated.

Speaker 10 (20:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
I was doing the human version of a dog growl
right there, because I mean, it's just it's it's the
type the rage that is filling me right now by
the day with the shortan Hudsons, Why do you have
a kid.

Speaker 5 (20:42):
Oh, can you imagine he's a daughter? Can you imagine
being that dad right now? And I said, imagine if
she's a daughter. Yeah, well, if it's a she she's
a daughter.

Speaker 8 (20:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (20:50):
Man, she guys still think that's the case in twenty
twenty five, Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, I think you're still good.
Rockets beat Ore.

Speaker 1 (20:58):
I wish they beat They lose the Warriors one O
six to uh our one O nine to one O
six and the Astros though, when eight.

Speaker 5 (21:07):
To five after that awfully sluggish start. Yeah, but you know,
Christian Walker gets the train going.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
The player. You hate that guy. I don't hate him.

Speaker 5 (21:15):
I think christ TRIPLEI did you hear yesterday, like five
other times during the shows that Dan said he hated
Christian Walker.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
Remember that this is erroneous on all accounts. Remember what
he said.

Speaker 5 (21:28):
I hate him and I don't hate him personally, but
I hate his game and I wish they'd send him
back to Arizona.

Speaker 1 (21:33):
Remember when he said that.

Speaker 8 (21:33):
I'm trying to recall this.

Speaker 5 (21:35):
Yeah, I could think I could pull that up. That
tape is not in there, you are, that's it is
fake news. You are fake news. You think that's fake dude?
I thought I heard you say bench him for de
Zenzo and send him back there as you said, send
the bum back to Arizona.

Speaker 1 (21:52):
Did I hear you? Some of those things came out
of my mouth? Okay, been you? Yeah, I am having falsehood.
It's placed on me and I will not stand for this,
right because.

Speaker 5 (22:00):
I remember saying, be patient the guy sitting the ball hard,
it's gonna happen because he's a pro. Then you said, no,
I can't stand. I hate his guts. It's personal, tobate.

Speaker 1 (22:08):
You've got the measure, and usually I don't for many things,
but this is not one of them.

Speaker 5 (22:12):
So basically it's fake news. It is fake news. Good
on Christian Walker. You a fake news.

Speaker 1 (22:19):
He was every single day. Yeah, you're sitting you're sitting
in the front row.

Speaker 5 (22:23):
Don't ever put my name and that name in the
same sex. Yeah exactly. That's just as bad a fake
news by including me in that clown's name too. No,
not Trump, I'm talking about a Costa. Yeah, jack him up.
But anyway, Yeah, you didn't really say that about Christian Walker,
but he got going a little bit last night at

(22:44):
the right time. After all, two v and al two
bays that's been dropped. Moving the two hole too. How
about that we'll change up pitch.

Speaker 1 (22:50):
Uh, we'll throw that. We'll throw that into the conversation today, Jason,
Roger Arthur promise, get to you guys, and then also
to that difference for the Rockets, all of that still
to come. Here. I'm the Sean Salisbury Show, Sports Talk
seven ninety. Hey, guys, jbar and Barbecue. If you've not
been there, I don't care. If you're listening in the
woodlands hell. You may be on the iHeartRadio app in Dallas.

(23:11):
Come on four hours. It's worth it.

Speaker 5 (23:14):
Get on that dog, get a hop on the interstep
on the interstate, get on forty five and roll right
on in and you stop twenty two oh one Leland
Street and realize exactly what I'm talking about. The best
barbecue in the city. The locations off the charts over there.
You don't need reservations. You got indoor, you got outdoor,
you got music, you go bring the dogs. You got

(23:37):
cold drinks, you got drink specials. You got Hall of
Fame menus and the Joe a Spotted Dish or the
or the Kelvin Samson or Clyde Drex it's all there
and when you taste the food, even if the entertainment sucked,
which it doesn't if the facility was sitting on top
of a building, but it doesn't. It's got its own
parking lot. It's phenomenal indoor outdoor. The food's off the charts,

(24:00):
hafe in the group. There is nobody better when it
comes to customer service, and they're there for you. And
you don't need a sporting event for a reason to
go to Jbarm Barbecue.

Speaker 1 (24:10):
You can go there. It's a standalone.

Speaker 5 (24:12):
Like I said, you come far away to taste the food,
get the customer service, and get that indoor outdoor entertainment
at night and during the day in a lunch crowd
wall is it too busy at lunch, It doesn't matter.
You roll right through there. Everything's efficient. It's the best
food here. It is the best barbecue, whether it's the
meats or the sides that you will find in this town.
And the atmosphere is off the charts. For a game
or not, it's worth your trip. It's jbar M Barbecue.

(24:35):
That's Jbarmbarbecue dot com.

Speaker 4 (24:39):
We're the Sean Salisbury Show continued.

Speaker 1 (24:45):
I'm one three two, one, two, five, seven nine. You
will start with Jason, Jason, good morning, how you doing.

Speaker 9 (24:52):
Hey, I wouldn't mind losing a bet in the night
at Bucky. They got good food. I'm just saying.

Speaker 1 (24:57):
Now, Well, many other things too, but the points to the
holes for sure.

Speaker 9 (25:02):
Oh yeah, how y'all doing this morning, Fellas, so far,
so good?

Speaker 7 (25:06):
All right.

Speaker 11 (25:07):
I've been.

Speaker 9 (25:10):
Living in Houston for about six years. I married my
wife Lube Houston. They're big Rockets fans and and and
every time, you know, I get to her to wanna
root for her team, and ruport the an Law's team,
they just they never fell, something goes wrong. You know,
I thought, for once the Rockets did something right this season. Hell,

(25:31):
they got the number two seed and they're going up
against Golden State, which, let's be honest, half of America
can't stand because you know, they just they just don't
like the Warriors. But you know, the thing that bothers
me the most is not the fact that you know
the Rockets are losing. It's just that Whynie Butler man

(25:55):
at White a little bitch. I just can't stand him.
He got his way out of Miami just to go
to get to a good situation to get to to
get to Golden State and then possibly if they do
get past the Rockets, I think they got the easiest
path to the finals and at least the Western Conference Finals,

(26:15):
and we just got to sit there and watch it
and suck it up as basketball fans. I just I
just can't stand that idea. And you know, and it's
I mean, we got young, talented superstars on the Rockets,
you know, and they're young. You know they're gonna make mistakes,
but you know, let's be honest. You know, they they're

(26:36):
way much better on the court this year than the
Golden State Warriors were. We should have beat them in
Game three when they didn't have Jimmy Butler. I mean,
but it's just as someone who likes the NBA and
someone who you know, married a Houston fan, and I
got a lot of fans, you know, friends that are
Houston fans, I just feel awful because I mean it

(26:59):
just yeah, it just seems like every time we played
Golden State, you know, we just can't get.

Speaker 12 (27:05):
Over that damn hump.

Speaker 9 (27:06):
So I feel bad for y'all.

Speaker 1 (27:08):
I really do, all right, I appreciate the call Jason.
A couple of different things. Number One, it's not a
precipitous difference between the Rockets and the Warriors. The Rockets
won fifty two games this year. Golden State won four
less than you did. They won forty eight. So like
to act like that this is just a massive you
know NBA years of you know, yesteryear where you know

(27:29):
the two was playing against a seven and a seventh seed.
Might be a couple of games above five hundred. You're
supposed to be much better than they are. Like, there
wasn't much of a difference between everybody not named Oklahoma City.
Sean it wasn't too much of a gap between seeds
two through ten would agree.

Speaker 5 (27:47):
You'm talking about not just records, but how good the
teams are. Sure, I mean, well the record kind of
indicates who you are, right, but just just the optics
of the whole conference would agree clearly Oklahoma's that he
was just different than everybody else. And that's the other
thing is Jay stated no hack, which I mean did
they this was they were favorites going in the series,

(28:07):
were they not?

Speaker 1 (28:08):
They were pretty huge favorites. They opened his minus too hard.

Speaker 5 (28:10):
That's my point is, so is that the perception of yeah,
and I'm with him. I think on pay I failed.
We said it deeper roster. The key is the two
best players in the series both play for Golden State
when Jimmy got there.

Speaker 1 (28:23):
And it's a fact. Well, but it's also to the
guys who are supposed to be really good for you,
I e. Jalen Green. I mean three one of the
four so far. I mean, you know, I understand the
plan that Steve Kerr and his coaching staff put together
for him in game three. That's fine, you got coaches
on your staff too, make some adjustments, get that guy involved,
find a way. And I understand that it's also about

(28:45):
him because five turnovers and you send them the line
for the technical free throw, he misses the free throw.
I mean it gets to a point where why isn't
Jalen Green on the floor because Emi Udoka straight up
told you I can't trust him. That's why.

Speaker 5 (28:57):
Okay, now you do this in the three laws is
what's his combined points?

Speaker 1 (29:01):
I think it's like twenty one points combined something like that. Yeah?

Speaker 5 (29:06):
Was he was he under double figures in all three?
I know, yes, I'm I was trying to remember in
the last note, this recent one but.

Speaker 1 (29:14):
Seven in game one eight last night. There you go.

Speaker 5 (29:17):
Okay, So I was thinking of their the loss that
the loss in between he was like nine or so
he was below. Yes, I think he was low double
digits and all yeah, and either way you said it again,
low twenties, right.

Speaker 1 (29:31):
But that shouldn't be the bar for him.

Speaker 5 (29:32):
That's that's well, that's even more so that that's even
more so why this struggle continues. Aside from the free
throws three the free throw line. If Steph Curry is
in single digits three of these four games, guess who's not.
I know he had seventeen last ange, but guess who's
not up three to one.

Speaker 8 (29:50):
It's the other way and right.

Speaker 5 (29:52):
So the point is the expectations for Jalen Green have grown,
and rightfully so, he's earned it, which can be a
blessing and a curse. When did you play like that?
The blessing is you get rewarded everybody recognize how good
you are. The curses, we also expect it every single night,
and I'm sure he does too. So with that, he
scored more in the game he dominated by by by

(30:14):
double digits than he has in the other three combined.
He has to put the ball in the basket. And unfortunately,
whether we like it or not, and we know how
good he is, he's going to be judged by what
how do you judge Harden. I'm not saying he's Harden yet,
but get my point here. It's it's it's a bit hyperbolic,
but how do you judge James Harden? James a great score,
MVP can do whatever, he can do it but for

(30:37):
different reasons. But what do we say about him but
can't get it done in the postseason? Say it again,
can't get it done in the postseason. And it's way
too early to say that about Jayden Green. Four games
into his Poston career. That clock has started. But because
of the expectations he placed on us by the way
he performed and he and he's earned the high praise,
but he also the criticism can't go away because even

(30:59):
though it's first four after the first say okay, you're
not a rookie, it's your second time now and you're
third and fourth, and three of the four games has
been a little overwhelming for him. The one game he
took over, well you saw the result.

Speaker 1 (31:10):
Yeah, and you know, on top of it all, too Sean.
I mean, you know, Jason, another thing he brought up
that I knew was going to come up this morning. Oh,
it's mental for the Rockets. There's only one person in
this entire organization that is part of the on floor
operation that was in uniform the last time these two
teams played in the playoffs, the head coach, the assistant coaches,

(31:31):
the general manager, the rest of the roster. They had
no experience against Golden State in the playoffs, So that
has nothing to do with it.

Speaker 5 (31:39):
Well, if they put it this way, if it does,
then then mentally they let something that'd be like saying, well,
something you've never done right sounds says something you never
never have been. Nowhere you've ever been, and all of
a sudden, when you get there, it's like, yeah, the expectations,
we expect you to act like you've been here eight
thousand times before, but that's that's not reality. But when

(32:01):
you get there, now we shift from okay, the regular
season judgment to this.

Speaker 1 (32:06):
But you're exactly right.

Speaker 5 (32:07):
The the none not all the expectations, but the reality
of the playoff series, no doubt.

Speaker 1 (32:15):
Roger Arthur Caesar, see, you guys will get you involved
in your conversation real quet at me in the road.
Do you think did you think that this would be
overwhelming for him? For Jalen Green, Yeah, I hoped not.
That's the best answer I can give you. I hope
that it wouldn't. But I had my doubts, right, And
that's why. See, even though matter how good he was,
and because he's young, and it's like I said, he's

(32:36):
played four games and this series isn't over. He can
he goes on and carries him for the next three games.
We'll look at him different. But in the big scheme
of things, when it.

Speaker 5 (32:44):
Comes to our great players, we usually say, you don't
want to butt after the man. A great player, but
tough in the postseason.

Speaker 1 (32:50):
You know, you know what he needs, he needs John
Taffer because I remembered an episode of Bar Rescue once
when a guy just kind of oh woes me and
he finally slammed down a bottle. John Taffer did anger it.
The guy broke the bottle and goes, you know, yo,
geez man get angry will.

Speaker 5 (33:05):
Yeah yeah yeah, wins enough enough?

Speaker 13 (33:08):
Right?

Speaker 1 (33:09):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (33:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (33:10):
The kid's such a good player, but you don't want
to go into the off season carrying this with you now.
If you do, and then you've got to shift the
narrative in your off season about how you're gonna approach
next year. But I don't really want to think about
next year until we see how he's going to finish.
I know it's three to one. It's it's not insurmountable,
but it's a it's a tough, tough climb.

Speaker 1 (33:28):
The mentalist and I and I and I don't say
that lightly. But what this team needs before tomorrow night
you bring in John Taffer. The stress test is already done.
You know that you failed. You've got a lot of
work to do with the bar.

Speaker 5 (33:41):
Do you think they're playing tentative watching them? Do you
think the playoffs? Yes, instead of just cutting loose, I
would like you know you're down three to one playing tentative,
how about three? You just let cut it loose, let's
see what happens, and just give me five more makes
at the free throw line.

Speaker 1 (33:55):
There's there's credence to that. There is no question about that,
all right, So like I said, you guys on, hold
stick and stay right there. You want to join them?
Someone three two and two five seven ninety continue the
rockets conversation here on the Shawn Salisbury Showy, this is
the Sean Salisbury Show.

Speaker 8 (34:12):
Get back at it.

Speaker 1 (34:14):
Arthur wants to wigh in. Good morning, Arthur, good.

Speaker 14 (34:18):
Morning, Brefect's time breakfast, Timass.

Speaker 8 (34:22):
Good morning.

Speaker 1 (34:23):
I like it a little bit of Matt Thomas. I
see you working there.

Speaker 15 (34:26):
Art hey.

Speaker 16 (34:28):
Man.

Speaker 14 (34:29):
Before I get to the free throws, I want to
say this, hire brother Jalen Green. Yes you have to
go man. You know, we get our hopes high. And
this guy is very inconsistent. He appears to be lost
out on the court. It's like he don't even understand
the game. Now to the free throw shooting. I want

(34:52):
to get a sisters from Alexa. So she's gonna give
me the fundamentals of shooting three throws. So what a
lesser said was she's talking to a bunch of a
group of boys and girls on how to shoot free throws.
To improve your free throw shooting, focus on technique, practice
and mental approach. Start by understanding the fundamentals of the shot.

(35:15):
Ben your knees slightly with your weight, balance on your toes,
grip the ball which a dominant hand, issuring the lacers
on horizonta across your fingers, extend your shooting on and
follow through with the snap of your wrists as the
ball leaves your hand. Those are the fundamentals, boys and girls.
So by the time you make it to the big leagues,

(35:35):
you had it down. Pat shouldn't no grown men making
millions of dollars on a consistent basis be pathetic and
shooting free throws.

Speaker 8 (35:46):
And that's what lost the game.

Speaker 12 (35:48):
I won't say, oh.

Speaker 8 (35:49):
That's not what lost the game.

Speaker 14 (35:50):
The free throw shooting lost the game on last night.

Speaker 8 (35:55):
It's pathetic.

Speaker 1 (35:57):
Appreciate the call, Arthur. Part of me right there was
thinking we were going to get a Sean Salisbury show.
First there Sean of that. He was actually going to
ask Alexa, and then we were and then we were
going to get But then I thought about that, Yeah,
well wait a minute, he's on the phone, so.

Speaker 5 (36:11):
You know, maybe but I thought maybe you had a
second one was yeah, maybe I was. He was gonna
put it up the phone. I was waiting for Alexa.

Speaker 1 (36:16):
To sound off, right right, you know, So if anybody ever,
you know, can do that, I mean, I'm not opposed
to it. So maybe the groundwork has been laid for that,
But no, I mean that was the difference in the
game last night. You missed twelve free throws, miss twelve.
They missed two, and the difference in this game was
three points. Yeah, it's probably I'm not asking you for

(36:37):
for you to cut that in half and make six more.
I'm asking you for you make four more. No no lies,
no lies noticed in that. It's fact.

Speaker 5 (36:46):
It's when you and they start that up, you think
okay early and they keep going in and when you look,
the stats can be overrated. That one's not certain stats
can be overrated, like time of possession in college football. Well,
when a team plays fast and can score like Ole
Miss or Tennessee in four plays, and they do it
twenty you know, four times in a game, you're down

(37:08):
twenty eight to seven.

Speaker 1 (37:09):
Yet they've got the ball longer.

Speaker 5 (37:11):
Than you because their drives sixteen plays, eighty yards, grind
it out and they lose by. You know, you end
up losing by. You know the four touchdowns at the
end of the game, Well, they one time of possession, Yeah,
because their drives stalled with a field goal on eight plays.
Then you get team that plays fast, runs ninety plays
a game. Well, guess what they're going to score more.
I mean, they're gonna they're going to play faster, touch

(37:32):
the ball less, but bigger play team, overrated stat, time
of possession, just what rates stat depending on what kind
of offense you're in and where you're playing, what level
you playing at.

Speaker 1 (37:40):
That's what gets Kevin Gilbrid punched by Buddy Ryan dated reference,
I know, but still that's how these things happen locally,
there's no doubt.

Speaker 5 (37:48):
So yeah, it's to a point where it's like, that's
an overrat set. I'll tell you one that isn't is
playing defense, whatever those numbers are. But making free throws,
that's and there's no simpler job other than making a
layup and shooting an uncontested free throw, and you just can't.
And they they were fortunate to get by in the

(38:09):
regular season for whatever, not being a great free throw
shooting team, but these things usually find you in pressure situations.
And I'll be damned, their free throws have put them
in a major bind this series.

Speaker 1 (38:22):
And don't foul a three point shooter in a tie
game with under a minute left to go.

Speaker 5 (38:28):
Isn't that one of the biggest sins in basketball?

Speaker 1 (38:30):
It is the biggest sin in basketball, And I knew
as soon as I saw where his hand was, I
was like, they're not overturning this. Yeah, you just though
there's certain things you can't do. You can't.

Speaker 5 (38:42):
Just go up and you've got it shot clocks going down.
He doesn't have anywhere to go. Just go up. That's
not a physical decision. That's a that's a mental misty.

Speaker 1 (38:50):
Yes, it is for a guy that should know better
and he didn't. Let's continue it. Caesar wants to weigh
in a good morning.

Speaker 8 (38:56):
Caesar, Hey guys, good morning.

Speaker 17 (39:01):
I just wanted to say this series is going to
go to say if.

Speaker 2 (39:05):
We're news once again, man, there's.

Speaker 17 (39:08):
Gonna be devastating.

Speaker 18 (39:10):
Daylon Green as a number two dress. He wanted to
come in, wanted all the smokes, wanted everything about the series,
and has not showed up.

Speaker 17 (39:23):
I get it.

Speaker 2 (39:23):
You know you're young.

Speaker 17 (39:24):
This is only four game playoff games.

Speaker 8 (39:28):
But for you don't want to be a.

Speaker 17 (39:31):
Star in this league, you have to come. You have
to come in and dominate. There's no excuse if you
don't have your shot.

Speaker 18 (39:40):
Drive to the lane, right to the buckets, figure out
how to get a bucket.

Speaker 17 (39:45):
Just look ass out there.

Speaker 18 (39:48):
There's no excuse for missing twelve people as well the team.

Speaker 17 (39:54):
I mean, I couldn't agree more with our teachers looks out,
he looks there's awesome there and maybe this off season
maybe they should consider seeing.

Speaker 18 (40:05):
What's available for us for him to get better.

Speaker 17 (40:09):
To me, when it comes down to it, there's nobody that.

Speaker 11 (40:13):
Can make a bucket.

Speaker 17 (40:15):
There's not a go to person that will make.

Speaker 11 (40:17):
A clutch bucket when you need it.

Speaker 17 (40:20):
The play with the second down was drawn up for
Shun Boon and then present Leaves and Daming Green on
the bench.

Speaker 11 (40:30):
Why so you can't trust me?

Speaker 1 (40:33):
Yeah, appreciate you don't know what something go ahead.

Speaker 17 (40:38):
I mean, I don't know what something, but I mean
it may be premature to pull the twitch on him,
but I mean him and che Gun has.

Speaker 18 (40:45):
The same amount of playoff experience, and you could see
who the killer is now right now and who she
should build around.

Speaker 8 (40:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (40:54):
Now, I appreciate the call, Caesar. We're up against it
to get into the seven o'clock hour, but we can
continue this, you know, with the conversation, because I do
have some thoughts about Jalen Green, and I know that
Roger wants to weigh in as well. But The moral
of the story is the little things that you're trying
to do that you have not done well, and some
of the mental mistakes have had you down down three
to one in this series. And that's where things stand

(41:16):
at the moment. So we'll continue in here Sean Salisbury Show,
Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 4 (41:21):
Kb E Houston, a CBS HD two Houston, an iHeart
radio station, the Astross the Rockets, Rockets as befall your.

Speaker 2 (41:30):
Home for your home teams.

Speaker 15 (41:32):
This is Sports Talk.

Speaker 4 (41:34):
Seven ninety from the Parsons that match next studios.

Speaker 1 (41:41):
Saulsbury, Oh Sisbury, Houston.

Speaker 15 (41:46):
Okay, let's do this.

Speaker 2 (41:48):
Sean Salisbury.

Speaker 3 (41:51):
To USC Troupes, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 4 (41:54):
Dan matthewsuse. This is the Sean Salisbury Show.

Speaker 1 (42:03):
Heading in the game five tomorrow night, Astros take the
opener against the American League's best Detroit Tigers eight to
five and Robert Woods new home with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
We can continue the Rockets conversation here at someone three
two one two five seven ninety Roger on the northwest side,
You've been patiently waiting.

Speaker 8 (42:22):
Good morning.

Speaker 19 (42:24):
Hey, what's going on?

Speaker 13 (42:25):
Dan?

Speaker 19 (42:25):
Sean Timpley, Hey, yeah, I just you know, it's it's
funny what you brought up the one hit Wonders with
Tomas Dolby with that song Ji SI.

Speaker 12 (42:37):
The thing.

Speaker 19 (42:37):
The thing is, you know the one hit wonder on
our team is Jalalen Green, because you just never know
what he's gonna, what is gonna, what's gonna happen with
this kid? I think, uh, I think them bright and
burning too bre too bright for him.

Speaker 10 (42:49):
Man.

Speaker 19 (42:49):
I think he's he's uh, he's out of his element.
I I I saw this happen in two thousand and
five with uh, with step Francis and Jeff bag Gundy
quickly him out of here. And I'm just you know,
you don't as a bottom line guy, bottom line business,
and you know he don't tolerate stuff like that. I
just I just wonder, you know, uh, you just kid

(43:12):
have to the bounce back in him. We're about to
find out.

Speaker 8 (43:15):
I just I just hope that.

Speaker 19 (43:17):
This is just an apparition, But now I just feels
like this is what what he's gonna be. And I just,
you know, it's just shameful that it's gonna have to
happen this way at the minds of another playoff runt
of the Warriors. Man, it just just sucks everywhere every
way it's possible. So doesn't matter what who's wearing that
Warriors jerseys, they're gonna get a burn this because I

(43:40):
guarantee you putting guys like like a Tom gun and
and and Pajempster on another team, they just don't do
as well as they do Warriors unim against us. So
with that being said, Man, I just hope you can
turn it around and making a series at least.

Speaker 1 (43:55):
Yeah, you guys, got you, buddy. I appreciate the call.

Speaker 12 (43:59):
I mean.

Speaker 1 (44:00):
The last part that he brought up there, Sean, it's
more for us. I mean, this is the way the
Yankee fans feel about the Astros after all these years.
I'd have to believe so, because it's kind of the
same playoff domination. It's more about that for us than
it is for the players. There's not a single Rocket
player on this team not named Jeff Green that has
been around for any of those playoff losses. So I

(44:22):
don't think that there's anybody in that locker room that's like, oh,
you know, we've never beaten these guys, So I don't
really know if we can it's a we never played them.

Speaker 5 (44:30):
Yeah, but if you are looking at like the first
way you said it, that's probably why you're down three
to one. You walk into the building half defeed it.
If you're like, oh, we have a hard time beat him,
You're exactly right. Some team who plays fifteen years after
eight years after five years after that was never on
the roster when it started.

Speaker 1 (44:50):
It has zero, I mean zero to do with it.
Zero to do with that.

Speaker 5 (44:56):
They just it's a bunch of different rappers just happen
to be in the same building, I mean with Gold State.
So I can't it is You're exactly right. It's more
that's more fan media. What what's going on? I can't
imagine a player goes into a game saying, man, they
beat us at it the last night, and now you
may say that saying over the last couple of years
since I've been here, yeah, I'm tired of this. But
when you go to playoffs in postseason, the history of it,

(45:18):
when you when there's one guy who said in the
building that's seen it, who cares what you care about?

Speaker 1 (45:24):
Step on the floor, that's right, So you haven't even
threatened the step on the floor.

Speaker 5 (45:28):
Now getting minutes. So what's that impact. It's a whole
new This is just completely different. I mean you may
be facing this well, man, that picture pitched for the
Yankees when they dominated. For the Astros, well, now he's
pitching in Toronto. The pitcher is a picture, but the team.
So he travels in Toronto, or he travels somewhere else.
Automatic Well, he went with me dominated, so he's going

(45:48):
to dominate us in well maybe just as your number
has nothing to do with Jersey and this has nothing
to do with history. The fact is it can't make
free throws and they're better than you right now, that's
I mean, history has no history stops once the balls tossed. Okay, unless,
of course you're the team that allows it to happen.
But as fans and Roger, you and me the rest
of us are like, damn, they just have the history

(46:08):
kicks in for us. But the players are spending time
playing now when the series is over, they will be reminded.
So he just can't you know, they'll hear it again.
The way you prevent all this all can't beat him
is just take the series and then nobody brings it
up again. Look, with these guys, they had had nothing
to do with their past, So don't let it affect
your president or your future. Right free throws missed people

(46:30):
aren't stamped the free throw. If I don't make this cash,
they're going to compare us to the fact that we
couldn't beat him, even though I had no idea. Matter
of fact, most of those kids that playing this team
had no idea going in unless somebody mentioned they read
it in the paper, heard it on the show that
Golden State dominated HIMY had no idea. Asked me what
Minnesota's record was against Chicago and Green Bay before I
got there in Minnesota or our team then with John

(46:53):
Randall and Chris Dolman and Chris Carter Chris, I couldn't
have told you what. I can only tell you what,
Oh yeah, last year and or earlier. This year we're
playing twice, I can't tell you. I can't tell you
what happened four years ago unless I watched it on
TV as a lifelong Vikings or.

Speaker 1 (47:09):
Bears fed right, I don't know what the same thing here.
Some of your might.

Speaker 5 (47:12):
Hey, you know you guys haven't beat them in nine
years in the postseason. US guys, what do you mean
us guys, I was playing. I was at my high
school throwing footballs the last time, so I was zero idea. Right,
So it's the same thing here, and we're all looking
for a reason. The reason is you're a star scorer.

(47:36):
One is not playing like a star, but one game
your overall team cannot shoot tree throws and their stars
at the right time are stepping up, making place, and
they got great bench play.

Speaker 2 (47:49):
And and all that.

Speaker 5 (47:51):
What's it lead to? Right back to as fans and media,
these guys they own us. We can't stop this. We
can't as a player. You're not thinking, you know what
I'm going to there. I can't believe what happened in
two thousand and seven, Right, that's not what you're thinking,
or two and ten. You're, like I said, some of
them were trying to make varsity basketball. Right, So that

(48:11):
doesn't matter. But we'll remind him of it when they
do lose. Well, when they win, it's move on, like, well,
you didn't even think about it. A matter of fact,
if this series over and they win, do you think
somebody's going to come out and say, yeah, man, I'll
tell you what's on our mind. The fact that when
we weren't here. They were going to play our series.
Nobody thinks like that, at least the athlete on the court,
doesn't the rest of us do. Yeah, if the Rockets

(48:32):
are able to pull this off, it's not going to
be in the locker room of you know what. This
was for Eric Gordon, this was for James Harden, This
was for us Rustbrook, this was for Mike Dan Tony,
this is when Chris Paul. This is for Paul's hammy, right,
you know, And it's it's true, you're like, you don't.
I don't think about it if we if we to Now,
if I'm playing quarterback and a defense has beating me

(48:54):
into the ground nine times in a row and I've
been on the team, Yeah, Sean, you guys are going
on the road, you've lost nine straight in your numbers,
are you're completing forty two percent against a Well, I
guess I better play better, right, And then the tenth time,
you guys won't be able to talk about this anymore.
Then I get it because then he starts. Now, you know,
you're part of the reason that the struggle. I ain't

(49:16):
part of the struggle. If I wasn't part of the team,
and that's this whole team, the nast part. I got
it for the free throws. Now the light bulb came on.
I can't I can see it right now. Conversation we
had with Steve Sparks yesterday. I remember taking a deep breath,
find the glove. How about tomorrow night we.

Speaker 1 (49:32):
Send Sparky eyeball the back of the rim that we
we send Sparky over there to the arena, So you
want him to be the motivational speaker, and spark Sparky
addresses the team and just says that the free throw line,
just find the net, just find the net.

Speaker 5 (49:46):
Well, what happens if they're thinking airball, find the net?
I like Draymond last night, find the bottom of the net.

Speaker 1 (49:55):
Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 8 (49:56):
There you go.

Speaker 11 (49:56):
See.

Speaker 1 (49:57):
It's it's words, it's it's delivery, it's all of those things.
That's why you're here. The mother in the basket. Yeah, motivation, Yeah, hey,
there you go. You go ahead and find the debt.
I'm just telling you, put the mf or in the
frigate basket. Sometimes free sometimes, Look, the tough love approach
does help. Like you know, I'll go a movie example
here and it's uh major League back to the minors,

(50:19):
not one that you thought I was gonna go with,
But somebody had told Scott Bakula, the manager, that Ruby Baker,
you know that some of his throwing issues were from
a traumatic childhood. And he finally just goes, you throw
another ball down the right field line, You're off the team.
And he finally was like, oh, okay, sometimes it has
to happen violated focus. Here's your consequences. Yeah, speaking of

(50:40):
consequences and not a funny way game five Jalen struggles.
They could beat Oh what if thing you getting shopped
in the off season. We can start the off season
conversation then, because yes, I do think that conversation start
to creep in. But what I believe that they would

(51:00):
do is I believe that they would try to find
somebody to take that pressure off of him. If that
means you're.

Speaker 5 (51:07):
Talking about you, but you're talking about that means a star.

Speaker 1 (51:09):
Because I think that they look at Jalen Green much
like we believe now that Oklahoma City should have looked
at James Harden.

Speaker 5 (51:16):
Does Kevin Durant make Jalen Green better?

Speaker 1 (51:19):
Kevin Durant years ago does That's why everybody throws him out,
and I'm just like, have you been watching the same
guy that I've been watching?

Speaker 5 (51:24):
I only said his name because that seems to be
a name that continues to be sure, you know mentioned.

Speaker 8 (51:29):
And that's the problem though, is that they can score.

Speaker 1 (51:31):
Right, I mean, there's not many options out there as
opposed to here's one that that I think probably and
it would not shock me. And you know, we're not
there yet, So the hunch still plays. I think Gianness
is gonna want out of Milwaukee. I really do, especially
with the news that happened yesterday. Well, dude, if yeah,

(51:53):
Damian Lillard is out with he's probably gonna miss all
of next season. If you're honest, you're you're on the
other side out of thirty at this point, Why would
you want to sit around for a team that maybe
could eke out a four or five in the East.
What are we? What are we in? Mid April? Late April? Yeah,
late April, right, yeah, May, June, July, August. It takes
about a year to get back from that.

Speaker 5 (52:14):
So so he if he does play, it's at this
time he'd be ready for the postseason next year.

Speaker 8 (52:18):
Bingo.

Speaker 5 (52:19):
If he does, yeah, it's it's tough for now to
come back from an achilles and it is a torn
a cl and in that sport, especially a guy you know,
you make hard cuts and slashes and you know Lillard
working off the ball, all all the things you gotta do.
I mean, I know it sounds crazy, but some guys
that their quick twitch stuff's a little different, right. That's
that's a year injury if you want to get him

(52:40):
back to full And then it's it's the mental grind
of that very first you could practice it, but that
very first time you put the ball on the deck
and got a cross over and that boom, that that
that tennishoe hits the pavement, I mean the hardwood.

Speaker 1 (52:53):
You there's still the question of can I Can I
do this? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (52:57):
I questioned the first time with an A C L
and achilles? You know the first time I put my
foot in Bergan and push off my back foot is it?

Speaker 1 (53:05):
You know with my knee? Am I gonna be able
to set it? Be firm and not?

Speaker 5 (53:08):
You know, tiptoe back there and put my drive through
the throw same thing here the very and once you
do it, you go into but there's always that what
if I make a cut in my foot?

Speaker 1 (53:17):
Is it as strong as it needs?

Speaker 5 (53:18):
All those things that go through your mind, Right, Lillards
a year away, they're not winning an NBA championship, not
only with that, not without without him, but if he
missed the full season. Yeah, if you if you're Giannis,
it's it's something consideration. But you're gonna have to give
up a lot more to get Yannis if it was
just Jayalen Green.

Speaker 1 (53:36):
But it's a start, right, His wife went to Rise.
I'm just saying, I'm just I'm throwing it out there,
throwing it out there. The owner's got some bucks you
could pay, and he wants to win, just like anybody.

Speaker 8 (53:49):
Of course he does. Who's turning that down?

Speaker 1 (53:52):
I wouldn't.

Speaker 8 (53:53):
Of course you wouldn't.

Speaker 1 (53:54):
It's a bona fide superstar. It's a guy that you know.

Speaker 5 (53:57):
Else, wouldn't he Doka No, because you know you're going
to get an effort that Udoka likes on the court.
Because you can say anything you want about Milwaukee or
Yannis or anything. The Duode will get up and down
the floor.

Speaker 1 (54:09):
And it's it's another place with a young, good core here.
I mean, it's something to think about. But again, you
might have a rejuvenated MVP thing, right, it'd be nice
back here, be nice. We know you can ball, so
we'll see.

Speaker 5 (54:21):
The key for this is who's Jalen Green going to
be now when it's nutcut and time again. It's been
the playoffs, yes, but now it's late. A single elimination,
it's literally that, And you've been throwing that out that.

Speaker 1 (54:32):
I mean, it's pretty much sitting single elimination you're thrown
out in the regular season. It's literally that now, right, and.

Speaker 5 (54:37):
Throwing it out to the point where you get to
plaint where single and there are games that come on
during the season that you have to treat in any
sport like its single elimination, whether it's to send a
message to your own team, whether it's to send a
message psychologically to yourself, or quite frankly, it literally is.
Because being down four games with six to go is
a lot to you in baseball is a lot tougher
than being down two games on a two game swing.

Speaker 2 (54:59):
They lose you.

Speaker 5 (54:59):
You know I'm saying with three games to go, I
mean it's a lot. I mean, it can be overwhelming.

Speaker 1 (55:05):
This looks to be the.

Speaker 5 (55:06):
Way they've played in the three losses and overwhelming tests.
They lost by a three point shot and nineteen to
thirty one from the stripe. It's an actually listen if
you wanted to have some stuff where everybody's leaning one
way right now, this is an opportunity for Jalen Green
to do what he did in game two after game one,
and he's going to need it if they're going to

(55:27):
shoot free throws like this to be in the game.
If not, Golden State will move on. He I hate
to say, well, it's not about one guy a lot.
In basketball, it's more about one guy than in other sports. Now,
in football, your quarterback year and eates down his leg.
Unless your defense gets four turnovers, you're probably in fairly
bad shape, unless you're a team that runs at seventy
five percent of the time. In basketball, when your best

(55:47):
player three of the four games has not shown up
the way you expect from his regular season and his
improvement over the last year, then you're in trouble. And
then you're relying on other guys to have to have
out of body experiences at times, which they have during
the regular season. We always say I treat every game
in the postseason like this one game elimination because there's
got to be a sense of urgency if they don't
have it now, and I would imagine that's a you know,

(56:10):
I think U Doca knows how to appreciate this better
than we do. But it's a fact he has got
to rear his head and play like a superstar, not
a star, a superstar. That's what these guys do in
these moments.

Speaker 1 (56:20):
Speaking of single elimination, there is a one day's old
question that is out there that I think would fit
great segue by you. I'll lay out the scenario here
on the Sean Salisbury Show.

Speaker 2 (56:32):
The Houston Sports World.

Speaker 4 (56:34):
Yes, Sean Salisbury knows how to play the game because
he really played the game.

Speaker 2 (56:40):
Yeah, former prol QB right here.

Speaker 4 (56:43):
He actually has it on his name tag former pro
QB right here. Back to Sean on Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (56:54):
All right, Sean, what are you hearing out there now?

Speaker 4 (56:57):
The Salsbury's takeouts take out on the Sean Salisbury Show.

Speaker 1 (57:04):
It is John Salisbury's Show. Rockets now down three to
one to the Warriors, one one six losers. Last night
out in the Bay Area, Astros though beat the Tigers
eight five to take the opener of that series. All right, Sean,
this was thrown out yesterday on social media, and they.

Speaker 5 (57:22):
Thrown out I mean nobody wanted to see it. You
put in the trash or thrown out there, meaning they
wanted us.

Speaker 1 (57:27):
To say they wanted us to see it, and people obliged.
All right, were you much obliged? I have not necessarily
taken part in that. This is my first, you know,
time with this exercise, because your first foray into it.
That is because the first time I found out about
it yesterday was listening to the Matt Thomas Show with
Ross and Ross had mentioned about a text thread that

(57:47):
he has with friends family. I can't remember who exactly
it was, but this is all over Twitter and that's
where they were going with it. Could one hundred men
defeat one single gorilla? So if you had one hundred
dudes just you, you had them together, could they finally
inviting their hands?

Speaker 8 (58:07):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (58:08):
And by defeat I would probably have to mean kill
because it's it's not like the gorilla has any concept
of being able to tap out. Hey, hey, Coco, are
you good? Oh guys, guys, hey, back off, back off, Coco.
Is that enough? He's tapped? He's good? It's it's all good.
Like no, it's a wild animal there. There is going

(58:29):
to have to be at least all one hundred of you,
no weapons, just hands, yeah, one of it.

Speaker 5 (58:34):
There's only one way to win at the beginning, because
the longer you wait and send in a guy or
two at a time, you'll be down to like four.

Speaker 1 (58:43):
Then you're done. There's strength in numbers.

Speaker 5 (58:45):
You have to make a plan and go surround sound
and it's like countdown one, two, three and all hundred
got to attack, and you got to if you're the
first dude in, you just gotta know that you may
be taking one for the team because if you decide
to go and you two go in and then we'll
come in to see how you are when you're wrestling,
then it can't be one of those because you've got

(59:07):
no shot, and especially if you're you know, it's like saying,
are you gonna catch a deer without a gun? The
truth matter you hunt deer? I mean, yeah, what a
disadvantage that's literally bringing a gun to a well.

Speaker 1 (59:20):
Uh grays fight. Yeah, you have to go caveman that
you're gonna have to make it.

Speaker 5 (59:27):
You're gonna have to and your dog's not catching it
either unless you've knocked it down with it with a
shot rifle.

Speaker 1 (59:32):
Correct. So now look at this.

Speaker 5 (59:34):
You go in bare handed, you better have a good
supply of body bags unless you go in full force.
So it can't be there's only one to your game
plan's got to be. You know, you talk to General H.
Norman schwartzkof he's sending in one hundred of it. You
gotta go, okay, count and when I get to we'll
go on my five four three. You got to go
and get because your only shot is to have one

(59:56):
hundred where he just can't get. I mean, there's just
too od that's too much body. Wait now, who you're
sending in one hundred snowflakes? You're sending in a hundred
dudes and know that they can take a punch if
you that can handle it a little tougher and we too,
you got a kyp You got to know your personnel right.
So I'm going to take the one hundred people over
the gorilla. If if if your coach and teacher has

(01:00:17):
game plan it and your leaders as plant right. But
if you're afraid to be the first one in, you
will definitely be tossed out.

Speaker 1 (01:00:25):
At some point, I was gonna say, you probably need
somebody who does become the field general at that point,
kind of like Maximus in the arena and uh and
Gladiator one or Maximus's son and Gladiator two. Have you
got to have a plan of attack, you know, and
do you believe in your field general. So before I
give you the particulars of what AI says, how this
this matchup would go between one hundred men, our right

(01:00:48):
that there is somewhat of precedence of this something like
this happening before, because we had a man wants wrestle
a bear, as told to us by legendary wrestling analyst
and announcer Gordon Solely.

Speaker 10 (01:01:02):
Bears, of course, are natural wrestlers, no question about this.
They instinctively know a snap mare, a leg sweep. They
don't know some of the finer holes such as a
pig R four what have you. Once he gets a competition,
stand up competition going, then he just naturally wants to wrestle.
And you can see there he went for a leg sweep.

Speaker 1 (01:01:24):
Yeah, there you go, see the nature's first grapplers.

Speaker 5 (01:01:29):
I'm going pile driver. I'm gonna land a pile driver
on the gorilla on the gorilla. Yeah, that's help.

Speaker 1 (01:01:36):
Getting that damn thing up, because these things are like
a thousand pounds hopefully hopefully adrenaline. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:01:41):
Well, you know they say you're stract with your life's
all the light, right that the smelling salts plus the
other Yeah whatever selling salt. Dude, you're dying one way.
I gotta go all in, right, So I'm uh, I'm
gonna go pile driver on it and hope that my
friends got my back. You're saying there's no shot.

Speaker 1 (01:01:59):
I was gonna say, I mean, I think you probably need.
I couldn't go to the crane on him. I mean
this is the yeah, and I mean yeah, you could
try to land the kick. But I mean the thing is, though,
is gorilla is you know that this the skull is
pretty thick.

Speaker 5 (01:02:12):
Yeah, I don't even go, Well, who hasn't run into
a thick skull along the way.

Speaker 1 (01:02:16):
I might company, I might go Daniel Son.

Speaker 5 (01:02:20):
I could just think about Daniel Son got hurt, went
out there, but came back out the match was over,
and he karate kid him where he went crane on
his ass and kicked him right in the mug. I'm
going it's either one hundred men or Daniel Son if
you pick if Daniel Son or the or the field.
Mister right MEOGGI probably doesn't now Miagi does do it.
I can't believe. I can't believe that. H who you

(01:02:41):
who'd you ask you asked?

Speaker 14 (01:02:43):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (01:02:44):
Google? Who'd you ask? The right? You asked them?

Speaker 13 (01:02:49):
If?

Speaker 5 (01:02:49):
If they if you just said, could Daniel's son kick
gorilla's ass?

Speaker 1 (01:02:53):
That'll be the next question. So what was the response
on one hundred men? All right? So it starts with
the gorilla strengths. So number one, the number one advantage
that the gorilla has is massive strength that a silver
back guerrilla significant than multiple humans combined. They can lift
and throw objects far exceeding their own body weight. A
powerful bite. See that's the part of it too that

(01:03:15):
people don't you know, think about you think that you
get into close contact here, these things bite you.

Speaker 5 (01:03:20):
A gorilla, well I could bite two, okay not not
not the gorilla say it's like a Texas tea bag.
But you gotta do survival, man, You have to serve.
They say, you'll eat anything, maybe even a tea bag.
You know, look, bags off your forehead. You gotta deal
with the gorilla.

Speaker 1 (01:03:37):
Look up, woman attacked by chimpanzee. It's not pretty. And
then the chimpanzee car door off of a cop cruiser. Okay, great,
I told you you got no shot going in alone.
But I mean land a pile driver.

Speaker 5 (01:03:51):
Maybe you just got to I mean, the gorilla bites,
you gotta bite back, and then you gotta compete.

Speaker 1 (01:03:55):
Dude, your wife's on the line, Dan, Now, what are
the potential advantages for humans according to AI overwhelming numbers.
We know that coordination and strategy. See what I said,
General South Maximus, Right, yeah, that's what you need.

Speaker 5 (01:04:08):
WHOA, don't diminish my ability to general I told you
at the same time, and you're can put it on maxim.

Speaker 1 (01:04:14):
You're Maximus and his son. Yeah, you know, fictitious Roman characters.
And then coordination and strategy. If the humans can work
together and utilize tactics, they might be able to overwhelm
the gorilla or burst strength. Humans can have bursts of
speed and power.

Speaker 5 (01:04:30):
I told you, it's like when your life's on the line,
you feel a little different. I'm going pile driver and
one hundred on one gorilla. If you don't have a
bunch of guys. I'm not going to be the one
to go in if you time it right. One hundred
is just too many for the gorilla to handle.

Speaker 1 (01:04:44):
But here's the bad news with the burst strength though
it says that is not sustainable.

Speaker 5 (01:04:49):
Well, one hundred guys, that's one quick attack, right, and
that's why it's got to be tactical, and you've got
to go in at the right time.

Speaker 1 (01:04:56):
Maybe it's a night thing, I don't know. Maybe it's
the first thing in the morning.

Speaker 8 (01:04:59):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (01:05:00):
But guess what, Gorilla the fights on and that's part
of the leadership. You come in unannounced, that's right, and guys,
there's gonna be guys.

Speaker 1 (01:05:08):
We're going in. There's there.

Speaker 2 (01:05:11):
You know.

Speaker 5 (01:05:11):
Some of you aren't coming out. Okay, some of you
aren't coming in, But that's got to be. That's got
to be your approach. That's got to be your approach.
That's why you joined the fight the gorilla military.

Speaker 1 (01:05:21):
That's the teacher in days to confuse when they asked
to try to leave school early so they don't get
paddled by the seniors. It's like my It's like my
commanding officer told me in Vietnam, men. Most of you
are going in, some of you aren't coming out.

Speaker 8 (01:05:36):
That's right.

Speaker 5 (01:05:37):
And when you fight the Grills, somebody's going down for it.
I mean, you're you're gonna just get overwhelmed by him.
But in the process, that's what you're That's what what
our foot soldiers are for. Dan to go in there
and be the first ones in again, God bless them.
Now back to the bear that Gordon solely had mentioned.
Gorillas now like an actual bear. I mean, you know,
can you imagine if a bear actually did know the
figure four leg lock? It comes to the to the

(01:05:59):
ring in the uh in the the feathered robe of
Rick Flair, and it lets out aloud.

Speaker 1 (01:06:06):
Right, you know you're in trouble.

Speaker 5 (01:06:08):
Oh, there's there's absolutely no doubt, dude. People don't know
if we're ever going to see this, but I would
like to, uh consider it.

Speaker 1 (01:06:15):
See in the final thought on this, I thought about
this last night, thought about it was actually on on
the way home from dinner. Of you have to remember
that people are now worried about AI or robots. Here's
the one for here is playing out of the apes.
Don't start messing with the apes, dude, I'm telling you

(01:06:37):
don't start genetically modifying these things. And we're already starting
to teach sign language, and some of these things are
letting themselves out of out of cages. And here's a
coup de gral of all of this. What if the
gorilla that you're ganging up on with one hundred men
is doing it for Harambe, then you're in trouble. O
R I P Harambe because that gets back to that gorilla. Hey,

(01:07:00):
they say, Harambe tried to help the kid, and then
Harambe tried to help the kid, and they said, screw
the TRNK. See what in the world are you saying
right now? Harambe was the gorilla? How many people?

Speaker 2 (01:07:11):
Right?

Speaker 5 (01:07:11):
I woke up and say, would you just give you
that last those last few cents? Gorilla says I'm doing
it for Harambe. Yeah, then we're all in trouble. And
what was the other name you mentioned at the end,
you said something pal Oh? Just you know, Yeah, they
said screw screw the TRNK.

Speaker 1 (01:07:25):
There you go, there you go and unloaded.

Speaker 9 (01:07:27):
Right.

Speaker 5 (01:07:27):
No if yeah, then it's a whole different ballgame. You
might as well realize that you're done finished. That's a
lot of attitude bringing it.

Speaker 1 (01:07:37):
You might think we're the superior species. Venue matters too.
That's the other part of this quarterback. If we're if
we're doing this in the gorilla's backyard, it ain't gonna
go well. Now, if you have this in a controlled environment,
then you might have a shot. You got to get
a hundred warriors though.

Speaker 19 (01:07:53):
It is.

Speaker 1 (01:07:54):
It is again kyp So one hundred men against a
gorilla losing a bet. I mean that's happened to us before.
But if you ever lost a bet like this and
had to do the payoff that this guy did, we'll
explain it here. Sean Salisbury show you guys want to

Speaker 4 (01:08:39):
I had to live out there for the Sean Salisbury
show continued.

Speaker 1 (01:08:45):
Absolutely, would tripley? Could you could you?

Speaker 5 (01:08:48):
Could you get on get on the island and not
I meane get the fever? Would you need to have
a second crib, like a crib there in a place
to come to it? You know you can stay on
the island.

Speaker 1 (01:08:55):
Not here now, money, money, no object. I would disappear
in Hanolay and you would ever find me again?

Speaker 5 (01:09:01):
Yeah, great golf course and just a fat cat on
the beach, yeah, eating that fresh fruit.

Speaker 1 (01:09:06):
I would. I would be one of those guys that, like,
you know, if it ever like was fame, notoriety, money
and all of that, just hey, where did he go?
And then you just show up right there to Tahiti Knui.
You're a really good spot right there. If you're ever
in Honolay, love it uh and just hey is that him?
And you see me right there? Flip flops Hawaiian shirt.
I want to open one of those. A bar on

(01:09:26):
the beach, you know, literally on the sand. It's not
about money. It's just about sitting there and you're giving
him like fresh like.

Speaker 5 (01:09:34):
Fish, sandwiches, some seafood yea, and some cold drink or
cold beer where you just sitting back. You know enough people,
there's enough bars. He sit there and people are just
happy because they're always happy at the beach, right. Yeah,
And like you said, money is no objects, so you're
just keeping yourself busy getting in the water, yeah, grabbing
a surfboard.

Speaker 1 (01:09:51):
Little golf like sun. I envy hearing about Woody Harrelson
that he doesn't have a cell phone, that it's his
assistant does, but he doesn't email any of those things
that would be me.

Speaker 5 (01:10:02):
I thought about getting a flip phone this past weekend
and saying, but okay, if you weren't in the if
you weren't in this profession, would you would you get
rid of a smartphone?

Speaker 1 (01:10:16):
Or you just need it for too much now? Or
you pass the point of Yeah, I'm past the point
of no return. You have to like social media and
stuff like that. I absolutely okay cut off social media. Yeah,
it was for the career, Okay, not not Hawaii. Let's
say on the mainland, where would you guys go pick
a city Tripoli. You and Dan, I know you tease

(01:10:36):
some We'll get to it in the next segment. Yeah,
for sure, Where would you go in the United States
with that? Money is not an object.

Speaker 5 (01:10:45):
You can work if you want or not, or you
can open up a side business, or you can stay
in this business. Not an object. And you can do
this job from any city. But it's got to be
on the mainland, the US man, Where would you go? Oh,
mine's easy, Clearwater, Florida, clear water floor, no question, Yeah,
no question.

Speaker 8 (01:11:00):
Somewhere in Arizona.

Speaker 5 (01:11:03):
Yeah, I'm I now listen the politics of a state
coming to play for me too, and my home state.
It's the people who've ruined my home state, not the
beauty of the state.

Speaker 1 (01:11:13):
So I would agree with that.

Speaker 5 (01:11:15):
I would start with Corona del Mar, Newport Beach Highway
one right there in Newport, you were right there where
you can walk on coast, the breakfast. I like places
where you can walk or drive to them. Plus there's
all the sports. You know, you got the you got baseball,
you can get to. I can get up to l
A to go like the weather. Just the Newport Beach
feels like that's ingrained in my you know Sandy from

(01:11:40):
Newport down to San Diego, somewhere Dana Point, San Diego,
del Mar, Carlsbad, you know, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, that's
out in the desert, King Palm Desert. But I'm okay
with that too. I love But the ocean, I got
you're talking about Money's no I can have that crib.
There's some space and property and then there's golf. Yeah,

(01:12:03):
I would start there, but considering you said today, I
mean I said today, since the until until the governor
changes and the politics change. But then again, maybe you're
to the point where if you said money is no object,
You're like, I don't care what he thinks, right, but
that would be the place start because the ocean and
the beauty of the state, and it's so there's rest

(01:12:23):
everything you want, right, But I'm with him. I probably
start Scottsdale would probably be my because I can get
to the ocean at least pretty quickly.

Speaker 1 (01:12:31):
I would probably say.

Speaker 5 (01:12:33):
Right now, but I'm going to tell you not far
behind for me and charging hard to the point where
like summer visit to see if this is where would
be Cord of Laine, Idaho, a place called Gazer's. Look
it up where there's golf and a bunch of my
hockey buddies and stuff live there.

Speaker 1 (01:12:49):
That's where their home is.

Speaker 5 (01:12:50):
I got a bunch of coaching buddies that live out
and what's my place out there that I told you
your parents Horsey Bay. Love that area too because my
kids in Austin. My kids are right so that too.
But there's a body of water there. So I would
for me at this quarterline, Idaho because I love to
go to the same breakfast spot in the morning and
see you know, I love small town feel And then,

(01:13:14):
like I said, we're going somewhere where you just shutting
it off, but you can work if you want or not.
But he's no object. And I love like there's some
beautiful areas in like Utah, Montana, Wyoming that I like.
I don't want to be the guy that's so far
away it takes me four hours to get the heb Okay.
I want to be close enough to go watch a
movie or go eat dinner at a steakhouse, but far

(01:13:37):
enough away to where drive back in and I've got
twenty five acres and I feel like I'm out in
the middle of nowhere but close enough with running water
and all that stuff. I don't I don't want to
rough it so much for I mean, I like the
country life, I guess, and I've lived to this city plenty. Sure,
But we're saying, where would you go to just shut
it all off Woody Harrelson style, right, Yeah, I mean

(01:13:57):
in Hawaii like Mick Fleetwood's crib. Yeah, Scottsdale because it's close.
But I'll tell you what what's growing on me even
more is the where I can fish golf. If you
want to hunt, go to the small town you know,
have that small town field. There's a candy store.

Speaker 10 (01:14:17):
You know.

Speaker 1 (01:14:18):
I don't know why, maybe to throw back to the
days and it was simpler for me. Simple.

Speaker 5 (01:14:24):
I like simple. So there's there's a couple of places
at the bottom of the Wahsatch Mountains. I've looked at property,
but I would start in Scottsdale. And I'm telling you
Idaho and Newport would be the first start for me,
meaning California. But the the way that state and gas
proay's it's just annoying enough to keep you away to
go visit, not live. But I'd head west to one

(01:14:45):
of those mountain States or Scottsdale. And I think Nashville
is starting to grow on me too, like Franklin, Tennessee.
Yeah yeah, And I you know, I love Texas. Don't misunderstand.
I love Columbus because there's property out there. I'm talking
about it. And you had to move out of Texas.

Speaker 8 (01:15:00):
Is my point.

Speaker 1 (01:15:00):
If you are leaving here, where's your.

Speaker 19 (01:15:04):
This is?

Speaker 1 (01:15:05):
This is where I can shut it off.

Speaker 11 (01:15:06):
See.

Speaker 1 (01:15:06):
That's the thing with Florida though, too is Florida's got
all those things that you just talked about, and then
also the hunting aspect of.

Speaker 5 (01:15:11):
It, right, and you got your warm ocean too, good
fish and you can go down to you know, you
can head down to the golf.

Speaker 1 (01:15:17):
There's a lot of great place there.

Speaker 5 (01:15:18):
But you know, like I said, when you land like
in Florida, or you're drive into your place what was
it again, clear Water, When you drive in there is
there a feeling of like a piece that hits you,
Like now you feel like, okay, this is kind of
like a home, right.

Speaker 1 (01:15:30):
Because I know that we're going to go to Krabby
Bills and then go to Shepherds that night. Yeah, that's
kind speaking of good breakfast spot Blue bonn A cafe
Blue Bony Cap, known for its pie happy out. Okay,
well she shows it shows you the lifestyle right there.
I like that because like four or five different golf courses.
You got lake, and you got buddies, you can go
play you know, your same group can go play golf.
I'm kind of into that.

Speaker 5 (01:15:51):
And then I want a place with space so all
my friends can come over and we can have a
July fourth grill where people are swimming and there's plenty
of that, and then you know, practicing putting. We said
money wasn't an object, so that's why, you know, we
get it. So yeah, I'm heading that way because you
need a lot to get Florida. I get why Florida
is a temptation. I like Dustin as well.

Speaker 1 (01:16:10):
Mm hm great. Thirty A Yeah, that seems like that's
that's the one that everybody else. Yeah, you know, like
the popular stickers on people's cars. Thirty A.

Speaker 7 (01:16:18):
Oh, we get it.

Speaker 1 (01:16:19):
There you go, Yeah, you make the drive over there,
you go through you know, uh Mobile and Pensacola and
all those areas. Just got by the Trent Jones trail
on the way there.

Speaker 5 (01:16:28):
You know, Yeah, you got that. So no doubt you
got all that for you. Just stay off Highway sixty five.
Highway sixty five sucks. I can't drive sixty five though.
Oh or is it fifty five? Fifty five fifty five?
That's the cut, right, yeah, Sammy? Yeah's Hagar.

Speaker 1 (01:16:40):
There you go? Is he Cabo Wabbo?

Speaker 5 (01:16:41):
Is that him?

Speaker 1 (01:16:42):
Yes? Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 5 (01:16:43):
I could go there too, by the way, yeah, and
live happily over after Andy, you framed it, damn right.

Speaker 1 (01:16:49):
Yeah, so could I. And then Brooks met him there,
so they're not Brooks. I'm trying to remember Morgan Freeman's
character's name anyway, it doesn't matter. But yes, good, good
exercise to get us in the right mindset. Speaking of
getting you in the right mindset, you lose a bet. Well,
there's worse places to hang out at. And that's what
a buddy of your mind found out. We'll talk about
it here Sean Salisbury Show.

Speaker 2 (01:19:14):
This is the Sean Salisbury Show sales.

Speaker 12 (01:19:18):
That's beautiful.

Speaker 1 (01:19:21):
In that four run seventh inning and the toast of
in the bullpen was Caleb Ort making his season debut
and he gives up two run homer to carry Carpenter.

Speaker 5 (01:19:29):
But and that was the only basically blemish in the
bullpen for the most part. Yeah, happens.

Speaker 8 (01:19:34):
And then what was it?

Speaker 1 (01:19:35):
Myers the ball just out of the reach of him
for what would have been the third out and final
out of the game. And then you had to have
Hobby Bayaz up there and he fouls a ball off
his back knee, which Steve Sparks I think that he
was channeling. I think that he was channeling Chevy Chase
from Christmas Vacation Clark Griswold when he said, you know,

(01:19:56):
it's almost like he got whacked with the hammer as
with the squirrel. You know, what are you gonna do, Clark,
I'm gonna wrap in the coat and whack it with
a hammer. So that's that's what I think Sparky was
going with. I knew where he was going. Yeah, there's
no there's no doubt about it.

Speaker 5 (01:20:08):
So I uh, I know exactly that this team they
still now now can we get that the rest of
the series and this is still remember how two Vay's homer,
but his batting averages started to dip. I love what
Steve Sparks said about about Panya. I loved the little

(01:20:30):
change up in the two hole didn't you and him
in the one hole? Yeah, with his speed, get it
to get to running. But you're concerned for Jordan's palpable Now,
I think that my concern even though well and you
I'm talking, I still think but it was he's about
two ten right now, right twelve.

Speaker 1 (01:20:46):
Thought I thought you were going maybe with the slide
at second last night. Oh no, no, no, I'm talking
about just to still the plate approach. Taking that walk
that he did last night. He laid off some pitches
that I was like he'd been swinging at those. That
was nice to see.

Speaker 5 (01:21:01):
Well, last night when he took the walk, looked like
jord On the normal guy that we normally see that's
selective at the plate.

Speaker 1 (01:21:07):
Yeah, and hammer stuff. That's close. Right, Let's just hope
that that slide at second and then Joe a spot
after the game, I hope you okay, yeah, precautionary and
then watch we get to the park today and it's
yeah discovered.

Speaker 5 (01:21:19):
Yeah, we don't want to hear that, Yeah, ankle discover.
Oh you're always concerned with the big fellow.

Speaker 8 (01:21:24):
Noah does that.

Speaker 5 (01:21:25):
But one thing I love is that he's a ballplayer
and he plays like one.

Speaker 1 (01:21:29):
So I'm gonna throw this out and maybe we can
carry this. Sob oh, maybe we got to do it. Yeah.
A buddy of mine, David Hale, college football writer long time.
He is also with the ACC Network with Andrea Adelson
and they have a games picks that they do all
throughout the season and kind of like we see with
fancy football, like the one guy that lost and he

(01:21:51):
had to spend twenty four hours at a waffle house. Well,
the loser of this bet had to spend twenty four
hours out of BUCkies. And look, I'm not gonna do
the Matt Thomas show with Ross thing. It's not in advertisement.
We know these places exist. Get past it. But he
spent twenty four hours and I think he's wrapping up
in an hour for his twenty four hours because he

(01:22:12):
got there. Yeah ten am yesterday morning. Well, I mean
you're you're not sleeping, because I mean where are you
gonna sleep? What are you gonna put some what are
the arctic coolers together and sleep on those? You're gonna
be able to lean up against the the sunglass you know,
little display they have there to the expensive sunglasses.

Speaker 5 (01:22:31):
But at eleven o'clock at night at eleven o'clock at night,
is it? Are they twenty four hours? Yeah, they're twenty
four hours, are they? They're open at three in the morning. Yeah,
normally that driving by him at that time and well
on the way out, but when you're leaving to head west,
they'll eventually run out of Texas and it's time right.

Speaker 1 (01:22:47):
Chicken and fries, as he pointed out on social media,
are are are not open at certain times? Okay?

Speaker 5 (01:22:52):
Everything else well, I mean, I wouldn't imagine at three
in the morning. It's a that there's like it is
at noon, So I would imagine. And there's plenty. There's
so many things in a BUCkies. Hell, you could actually
hunt from an inside of a buckis. I'm sure you
can probably get an I don't know, I've been you know,
we've been through them many times. There's clothes and hats,
I can warm up, I can sit in a corner

(01:23:13):
and you know, when you're really fall asleep and you lean. Hell,
you can with the TV as loud as is, you
can set up straight up on your couch and fall asleep.
That's no punishment. You get all the food you want,
all the treats you want. You get a sugar hangover,
which you'll put you to sleep. You got coffee if
you need it. You got the clean Hell, you could
sleep on the floor of the bathroom and know it's
just as clean as as as a freshly cleaned home.

Speaker 1 (01:23:36):
With the way they take care of their stuff.

Speaker 5 (01:23:37):
Just a little bit, if you could give me something else,
tell me you'd have to sleep in a convenience store
out in the middle of El Paso where there's no
Now you're like, what the hell am I doing? This
is a BUCkies. It's got every amenity you'd want other
than a king sized bed. But there's enough clothing for
me to lay it down and lean up against them. Well,
a couple hours of sleep, and who hasn't had the

(01:23:59):
all night? You can bring a few of your buddies
where you just sit up there talking. I'm laughing and
drinking from acc network there with him. But I don't
know if necessarily he had that.

Speaker 1 (01:24:08):
That's not punishment.

Speaker 5 (01:24:09):
Twenty four hours punishing him and send him to a
place that doesn't have the luxuries but has the same
type of stuff, but as smaller. That's not a luxury. Hell,
you could send him to a quick trip and that's
pretty luxury. Quick Trip was always your number one to
me before. Yes, I agreed again advertisement right, No, not
at all, but quick Trip and that's still a good place,

(01:24:29):
but more punishment maybe because it's smaller, doesn't have all
the stuff BUCkies does. The best convenience place like this
gas BUCkies anywhere in the world.

Speaker 8 (01:24:38):
Okay, face facts. Yeah, that's not punishment.

Speaker 5 (01:24:41):
Matter of fact, we could do one of those and
go and you'd stay there gladly because we get some
treats and have fun.

Speaker 1 (01:24:47):
To your point, ten hours ago, he posted his Apple
watched with the steps and he had walked over ten
thousand steps in a mass four and a half miles
just in the store alone.

Speaker 5 (01:24:59):
So do it and listen. It makes for good story value. No,
that's not punishment, that's something that you did. Oh I'm
going to BUCkies people. It feels like when you go
into BUCkies you're stopping for Christmas all the time. I
mean there's so many different things. Oh yeah, that that'd
be an easy bet, payoff easy BUCkies.

Speaker 1 (01:25:17):
I mean they look I'm I'm up for the challenge
if anybody wants to challenge me, and if that means
that I'm spending the night at the what's the what
was the winning person? What what did you get to do?
I god, well, what's the winning person get to do?
Stop in bragging right here? Yeah, stop in during the
time and then leave whenever you want.

Speaker 8 (01:25:34):
I guess.

Speaker 5 (01:25:34):
So just kind of like going to BUCkies in general. Yeah, No,
that's no, that's that's a reward. That isn't a punishment.
Sleep outside on the concrete by the gas pumps at BUCkies.
Different story. And then you get the cicadas after you. Well,
that's punishment. You lost the damn bet. Sleep on that
grass out there. We can stop and let your dog
go to the rest. Sleep out there, a little more punishment.

(01:25:55):
You got to deal with the bucks inside of BUCkies.
That's a country club. Well, at least there's no truckers there.

Speaker 8 (01:26:00):
You go.

Speaker 5 (01:26:00):
You got that going for you, all right, Al Brandon,
see you guys right there, all get all the loud
trucks and stuff so you can sleep.

Speaker 1 (01:26:07):
Well, let me straight up tell you no, no eighteen wheelers. Right,
you have a good conversation. That's where you want. You
want to say.

Speaker 5 (01:26:14):
Oh yeah, yeah, guys, you sit there in the night
that your time will go fast. All those great truckers. Hell, yes,
that's where that's where you wants. Trucker buddy. We got
a bunch of them, Yeah, got a bunch of them.

Speaker 1 (01:26:25):
Yeah. Call in Hank the horn. You're good buddies with us.
Al Brandon see you right there. We'll also get in
some astros talk here at eight o'clock hour, Sean Salisbury Show.

Speaker 15 (01:26:34):
KD E Houston, k t D E h D two Houston,
I heart radio station.

Speaker 1 (01:26:41):
That a Rocket.

Speaker 4 (01:26:43):
Sports Talk seven, your home for your home teams from
the Parsons that match in next studios.

Speaker 12 (01:26:59):
Houston.

Speaker 8 (01:27:00):
Okay, let's do this.

Speaker 2 (01:27:01):
Sewan Salisbury.

Speaker 3 (01:27:04):
To usc true longtime friend Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 4 (01:27:07):
Dan matthewsues, this is the Sean Salisbury Show.

Speaker 1 (01:27:16):
Rockets one O nine one six losers to the Golden
State Warriors. They are now on the brink of elimination,
down three to one in this series. Astros though eight
five winners over the Tigers. As Jose Al tub batting
second last night and at his request telling Joe a
spot it, I just need ten extra seconds jogging in

(01:27:38):
from left field and that's where we can start the
conversation at seven one three, two, one two five seven ninety.
If you want to jump aboard. Speaking of both of
those things, Al wants to weigh in here on the
south side. Al, good morning, Hey, what's going on, guys?
What's ups up?

Speaker 8 (01:27:58):
Hey, Sean?

Speaker 13 (01:27:59):
I won't talk with it a bit about Uh real quick, Dan,
y'all was discussing Bill Belichick yesterday. Oh and we so well, yeah,
you was talking about it's just a story. And Sean
can allude to this shun you know, uh the way
these days in time, me and Sean.

Speaker 8 (01:28:15):
You know this here, Dan, I don't know if you
realize just.

Speaker 13 (01:28:19):
To get a story out of Bill Belichick, just to
sit down with an interview outside of football, it's monumental.
And I just think sometime reporters get into.

Speaker 8 (01:28:28):
Your business personal life. I didn't I agree with Bill.

Speaker 13 (01:28:32):
I mean, you don't have to really go into detail,
but Bill Belichick, sewn, No, just even get him to
sit down because he stot football over is a big
old step because Bill, I think Bill, and uh, Sean,
what's my coach in San Antonio, Patsovich? Yeah yeah, and
Nick Savor Sean know this here, man, them guys, it's

(01:28:52):
about business.

Speaker 8 (01:28:54):
They don't get caught up in the whirlwinter.

Speaker 16 (01:28:56):
Uh.

Speaker 13 (01:28:56):
This new intro and they take the interview twisted and
all that. So kudos to be a Sean. Let me
talk about the rocketd real quick go asstros. I think
that trade coming up this season because it seems like
they came nail a coffin in the end, they had
a game, a couple of games in their hand, and

(01:29:17):
just I think we do need to make a trade
coming up this season.

Speaker 8 (01:29:21):
And I think Mayor.

Speaker 13 (01:29:22):
Thompson Shun some kind of way. This guy have crawled
into a shell, you know, and really it's time for
him to step up in this game. And the series
shows where you got the man up, and I just
see him acting like passing for something.

Speaker 8 (01:29:39):
I don't see the great the grind on season.

Speaker 13 (01:29:42):
I don't know so Shun and I can tell pretty
good off the top by the basketball player and the
way he made Doka had these guys playing. It seems
like you meet to go in with the Draymont Green
or whatever whatever man you got the ball man, you
got to get off your you don't even get on
the Shun. You know that mentality. You don't let nobody
run over you or bully you. You know what I'm saying.

(01:30:03):
I know he's still young, but he may have to
go into this trade. Sean and I hang up and listen.

Speaker 1 (01:30:08):
I appreciate the call.

Speaker 5 (01:30:09):
Al, I will take calls this offseason. He's not one
of them. I'm willing to take call on Oh no, uncle,
but they're gonna take calls on a trade. Part of No,
that's something. And I mean this conversation will expand once
we get to that point. But if you don't, then
it becomes a question for me of rafel Stone, of
if not now, when, like, like when when are you

(01:30:30):
willing to take the third step to this because you're
no longer in a rebuild. I know that they said
it was the second phase. It's not a second phase anymore.
You're a fully built organization right now with the guys
that you've got.

Speaker 1 (01:30:42):
You just need to make some fine tunes here and
there on the offensive end, because well, that's what's doing
this team in right now. So no that that has
to happen this offseason. And I don't think necessarily just
only the fan base is gonna be asking for it.
I also even think you're gonna have Tilman and in
his side of the operation saying hey, we're not there yet.

(01:31:04):
We need to do something to be able to get
to that point. So I sure, as you're born, that's happening.

Speaker 8 (01:31:10):
I like that.

Speaker 1 (01:31:11):
I like that term as people don't know. Agreed.

Speaker 8 (01:31:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:31:14):
But the Astros, though, you know, we're talking about this
just a little bit before we brought al on where
you get last night you talked about it. Christian Walker,
the two run homer, Jose al Tuove the two run homer,
you get that four run seventh inning, decent enough pitching
out of Renault Blanco, the bullpen. Of the guys that
you have counted on to this point, they step up

(01:31:37):
and do well. Steven Oker, Brian King, abray you and
then also Josh Hater there in the ninth. But it
was the story before the game, Sean of twofold, of
number one, Jose al Tuove, Joe as bott it telling
the reporters in the dugout where he's asked, hey, you
know al Tuove baton two today? He goes, yeah, it
was his idea and I obliged and I put him there.

(01:31:58):
And it's also it's kind of with Jose Altuve of
we know what a great teammate he is, but I
think that he probably being able to sit the other
day in Kansas City and watch the team win and
be able to play well, and seeing Jeremy Panias at
bats out of the lead off spot, where again the
light bulb popped up for him and he said, you

(01:32:19):
know what, maybe that guy's actually pretty good in that spot.
He feels comfortable there, he looks good. Why don't he
take that spot? I moved to number two.

Speaker 5 (01:32:27):
And with the guy's you know, speed is Steve's sparks
had mentioned and the constant effort of running things out.
He feels like the perfect leadoff guy as long as
he's plate disciplined right and willing to take walks.

Speaker 12 (01:32:40):
Well.

Speaker 5 (01:32:40):
What I love about Altuve always have and it just
becomes more and more rearing his head on a regular
basis is the guy truly is about as you said,
the light switch goes off, truly is or clicks on.
Should we say all about what gives us the best
chance to win?

Speaker 1 (01:32:57):
He always is.

Speaker 5 (01:32:58):
This guy's a lead off hit or through and through right,
But how do we get paying up at the top.
What's best for the team. I'll move to the two hole. Okay,
let's try it. I just I love the guy's approach.
Even when he's struggling, it's not usually about him. And
I know that seems so elementary. Yeah we've heard it before,
but he lives it, man, And uh, you could be

(01:33:19):
onto something we'll see and the and it also by
putting paint you up there. I think that the more
and more we see this, the more if the guy
can lives up to what we think and it becomes
that selection at the plate, that I think he's the
next a chance to be a next big leader of
this team.

Speaker 1 (01:33:38):
I really do. Joe said, as much did you say?

Speaker 5 (01:33:42):
I didn't hear his quote, but I just feel like
he can lead in a lot of different ways. With
that happened to constantly talk. But his performance, to his effort,
his play regardless of the score of the game, moving
him up to the front, his defensive gems that he
makes everything about him just sounds like that's a good

(01:34:03):
see on the chess type of guy.

Speaker 1 (01:34:04):
And to your point, the new player up when it
comes to uh, you know MLBPA stuff, Uh huh number
three put in trust there you go. So it's just
and he hasn't pined for it.

Speaker 5 (01:34:16):
He just kind of, you know, kind of just rolling
and doing his thing, But it almost feels like it
almost feels like he's taken on a lot of what
without you know, probably a little less verbal than Carlos
Korea maybe and less animated, but feels like he's taken
on that and almost understands the situation, the teams that

(01:34:37):
change in a little bit, and he can be a
solid foundation for it. I like this move, and I
like that Josel two they likes this move, and I
would imagine that Jeremy Paynia embraces.

Speaker 8 (01:34:48):
It as well.

Speaker 1 (01:34:49):
Well, I mean again, you know, getting back permanent. Yeah,
getting back to Joe a spot of talking about it.
I mean, he said that he observed last year that
Pinya he could tell kind of hold his tongue on
things of Well, wait a minute, I'm not Verlander, I'm
not Bregmant, I'm not any of those guys. I don't
really feel like that I've got the speaking power that

(01:35:09):
those guys have enough skins in the game yet. But
now those guys are gone. So you elevate yourself.

Speaker 5 (01:35:15):
You're you're in that spot, and what usually happens is
that you don't have to elevate yourself. They do your
your teammates do just just by the way you know,
you become. You know, it's like magnetic and he walks
into things are different when he speaks, there's more ears
and eyes. You know, eyes get wider and ears perk
up a little more. And you don't have to It
doesn't have to be a self appointed thing. Normally, what

(01:35:36):
happens you just kind of flow it. Organic stuff in
the world is a pretty good things, great thing it is.

Speaker 1 (01:35:41):
It's the best thing.

Speaker 5 (01:35:42):
And to me, especially when it comes to leadership and
all that, when you don't have to go get it
and it's heaped upon you, there's a reason because guys
and a lot of times guys will see stuff that
you don't even see in yourself because you're just going
about this.

Speaker 1 (01:35:53):
Is the way you live, sure, it's the way you prepare,
it's the way you do things.

Speaker 5 (01:35:56):
And those to me are the best or leaders are
just kind of one day you wake up and it's like,
who's the leader of this team? And the dudes will
just take their index finger and point to the shortstop.
I think we're on our way there.

Speaker 1 (01:36:07):
Well, I mean, how many times have we seen Jeremy
Paine's going This team goes. Saw it in twenty two
when they won the World Series.

Speaker 5 (01:36:13):
He immediately puts some big ass pressure on you when
he's on first base. He's becoming and I don't know
how long he's going to stand it. And you know,
leading off, but if this becomes part of who they are,
and now two they sitting in the two hole, and
you got him to the top, you're gonna get more
threat on the base pass. And I love Jose, but
Jeremy Page is a better base runner and got on

(01:36:33):
a low bar, there's no question. So, and I think
he probably will take the responsibility proudly and say this
is what I need to do at the top of
the order to let me go.

Speaker 1 (01:36:42):
He feels like a.

Speaker 8 (01:36:43):
Natural leadoff him. Yeah, he just does.

Speaker 1 (01:36:46):
My guy got thrown out by five feet last night
at second base on that stolen base.

Speaker 8 (01:36:51):
I was like, oh, I love him.

Speaker 5 (01:36:53):
If we ever look back and say what was the
weakness of his career, it may be that, but hell,
at least we found one right.

Speaker 1 (01:37:00):
We all have our cross right. And you know what,
no man or woman is perfect. It's nothing.

Speaker 5 (01:37:05):
It's the one thing that he hasn't perfected yet. But
you know what, I'll cut him some slack if it
happens in game toy, you just don't do it in
game four of a playoff series, right, But how can
you not love him? He's aggressive sometimes, he probably stay
on the base at times, don't need to, you know,
he's he's not your best base runner, Jose, And I

(01:37:27):
mean it kindly or affectionately. I've tried to be kind
about it. You're not real good at it. So maybe
maybe maybe this is a good movie.

Speaker 1 (01:37:34):
Hey, let's let's cheat the angle here, all right, let's
try to take the extra ninety feet. Not you, Jose,
but let's try to take those extra ninety feet, all right.

Speaker 5 (01:37:41):
I think Jose's probably at the point of his career.
Well alls he could do a smirking spile, say you
know what, you might be. You might be a little
bit of a just for me.

Speaker 1 (01:37:48):
It's one of those where you realize your shortcomings and
you're just kind of like, hey, you know what, Yeah,
you throw the hands out to the sun. You're kind
of right, what can we say? You got me on
this one? Right, Yeah, I'm on this one.

Speaker 12 (01:37:59):
There you go.

Speaker 1 (01:38:00):
I'm pegged.

Speaker 5 (01:38:00):
He's got somebody, He's got somebody done Yeah, he's got
so many w's by his day, he's allowed to have
one flaw.

Speaker 1 (01:38:05):
I was gonna say, I I think that is the
back of his baseball card.

Speaker 5 (01:38:09):
I know I'm going to get shocked for that, but
the back of the phrase on this show, Dan, all right,
that's fair, that's fair.

Speaker 20 (01:38:15):
You know.

Speaker 1 (01:38:15):
Look, hey, like I said, people got their weaknesses. Maybe
it's not present company excluded. All right, Brandon Edwards, see
you guys right there, we'll work you in also too.
Speaking of rewarding Jeremy Pania, well there's some ideas about that.
We'll talk about it. Here's John Salisbury's show.

Speaker 5 (01:38:30):
Doctor Jeff witz it at wits at vision dot com.
W h I T S e T T the very
best in the business. Talk to those who've gone to
the Lacy procedure like me, or that get eye care
from doctor Whitson. When you're talking about your eyes, pretty
damn precious, right, So you might want to maximize that
and go visit with people.

Speaker 1 (01:38:47):
Will tell you what I'll tell you. There's nobody better.
He is attention to detail.

Speaker 5 (01:38:51):
He'll treat your eyes like he'd treat his own families
or his own eyes, and he'll walk you through all
the steps of Lasik and the post I care.

Speaker 1 (01:38:58):
It's non invasive.

Speaker 5 (01:38:58):
I wasn't on the table ten minutes and it's and
seeing better than I had since the prime of my vision.

Speaker 1 (01:39:02):
So for me, there's nobody better.

Speaker 5 (01:39:04):
It's doctor Jeff Witzeit at witsit Vision dot Com again
w h I T S E T T. When you're
looking for your eyes and they are precious, you want
an expert, right. You don't want to leave anything to chance,
and you won't chance anything but success with doctor Jeff Witzett.

Speaker 1 (01:39:18):
It's witsit Vision dot Com. Witsit Vision dot Com. That's
wits it Vision dot Com.

Speaker 4 (01:39:25):
The most refreshing way to start your day, shower, shave
and Sean, They're done A courtesy flush is old ways appreciated.

Speaker 1 (01:39:36):
Thank God, Thank the good Lord.

Speaker 4 (01:39:38):
Thank you from the management team here at Sports Talk
seven nineteen.

Speaker 2 (01:39:42):
Back to Sean Salisbury.

Speaker 5 (01:39:45):
I mean, I know, I understand that the rumors are
out there, but how do rumors get started started by
the jealous people in that song?

Speaker 1 (01:39:51):
Know the song? Well, it's just you don't know that either.
It's it's just a you know, like for example, Sidney
Sweeney and Glenn Powell. Everybody just thinks like, oh hey,
it's happening. It's happening.

Speaker 5 (01:40:00):
So what's your perception if you had to bet one
hundred grand?

Speaker 1 (01:40:02):
What do you think? My initial thought is no, triple.

Speaker 5 (01:40:08):
I think yes, I'm going to say yes to yes.
I think, you know, the Snoop's got good just kind
of like so relaxed. I think I think America probably
Martha might. I think Martha's got more vibe than you
think seeing and Stoop's one of those people too. It's
like Shack. It's like Matthew McConaughey, like you know, you

(01:40:30):
can sell anything right, Like you know you see him
and it's like, oh man, another commercial with Snoop.

Speaker 1 (01:40:36):
Hell right, no question, Yeah, I gotta get a picture.
He's a good Those.

Speaker 5 (01:40:41):
Three guys you mentioned are all like approachable belief, but
you kind of trust what they're selling very much.

Speaker 1 (01:40:47):
I'm going to go with tripley.

Speaker 5 (01:40:48):
I'm going to think that Snoop Dogg and they're still
good friends with kind of you know, the benefits say.

Speaker 1 (01:40:52):
I'm just gonna guess. I don't know if it's happened.
If I had to bet the.

Speaker 5 (01:40:55):
Hundred grand, I'd go that way, but story value triple
E do you what do you think if it's you, yeah,
you turned you turn it down?

Speaker 1 (01:41:04):
Or yeah, shot, yeah dad, I'm gonna pass.

Speaker 5 (01:41:10):
You are we're assuming that there you get the you
get the what's my guy, Tommy Joe, Tommy Lee Jones.
They flashed that light back in black, so you can
it will go away after Yeah, yeah, and you're you're
you know, this is just the hall pass you get
from your lady. But assuming that she you know, we're
just kind of putting that aside, that you're not gonna cheats.

Speaker 1 (01:41:33):
It's no disrespect to her, but I would you know,
it's kind of like you've got your challenge. Don't waste
your challenge.

Speaker 5 (01:41:41):
What's the male right? What's the male equivalent?

Speaker 1 (01:41:43):
So just to the first questionable call, you might need
that challenge later on for me with the with the pass,
I would say.

Speaker 5 (01:41:50):
What's the male equivalent to Martha Taffer?

Speaker 1 (01:41:53):
In a different way? Guy fiery other triple D.

Speaker 5 (01:42:03):
Elusive and she's got to make love to him on
like the kitchen counter at one of his diners, drivings
and dives.

Speaker 1 (01:42:11):
That's theirs. And with Martha you have to I don't
know We're now going to be exclusive, that's exactly. Or
you get to drive around?

Speaker 2 (01:42:22):
What they do?

Speaker 1 (01:42:22):
They fly his car to Hawaii?

Speaker 8 (01:42:24):
What he's going to do?

Speaker 1 (01:42:26):
Can you imagine having a gig? I ain't going in
a rental car. No, I'm not driving there. You can't drive.
I'm not showing up the four tours.

Speaker 5 (01:42:34):
But yeah, just so people know, you can't drive to
Hawaii from California, but you can stay it on me
corvette or I don't do it. But isn't that basically
what's going on? We got to do with diners, drivings
and dives. You're gonna do it on the beach this week? Well,
I'm driving my convertible Corvette to the beach. Certain certain
talent do not perform without a rider. And I think

(01:42:55):
his rider is that he wants his ride. But think
about it. They got to ship that truck every he's like,
he lives in Vegas and somewhere. I mean, think about
think about where. They got to ship that everywhere he goes.
They got to ship that vet, right, I thought he
drives it everywhere? You act he's not putting miles on
that classic car. I mean heems like he does, doesn't
he yeah, you know, vingut driving the winds blowed through

(01:43:17):
his hair, yes, and his frosted tips.

Speaker 8 (01:43:20):
I get that.

Speaker 5 (01:43:21):
But there's no way I'm letting anybody. You know, you've
got a fifty six bell Air. I ain't putting miles
on the dam shipping. That's called poll where they say
part of the travels every week, I do this, you
know whatever they probably do six you know, six months
of shows or whatever they do and tape them all
boom boom, and then the six months off. He's watching
them like we are right, But can you imagine have enough? Well,

(01:43:44):
you're taking my vehicle everywhere because he's because he ain't dry.
Now imagine he probably drives from California to Vegas or
bag Vegas and California. But I'm not putting miles out
of classic. And so we went from Fierti and he's driving.
But so he's the equivalent to Martha Stewart. That's the
hall for the ladies. If you get the story values from.

Speaker 1 (01:44:02):
Martha Stewart, right, God, where's there?

Speaker 5 (01:44:08):
Oh man, you pulled the girl who gets the Fietti
Hall pass or the basically who pulls more Martha Stewart,
the whole past, which one gets more banter? If you
like if if you if the a celebrity guy, Martha,
a celebrity girl, chose question, chose Fietti Martha. Yeah it's Martha,

(01:44:30):
no question. Who's freakier? Like, who do you think would
be freakier? It's probably gotta be fear you think, like
who has the race? Let's all and again it's got
to be he thinks.

Speaker 1 (01:44:39):
I actually think, you know, yeah, good point. And I
remember once somebody did throw out guy Fieri does this,
you know, saying like you know, he he does the
deed and he was signing autographs. He looked up immediately
pointed at the guy like you know it, buddy, Yeah.

Speaker 8 (01:44:54):
There you go.

Speaker 1 (01:44:55):
So it's just all in good fun.

Speaker 5 (01:44:56):
But I just was wondering this Snoop Dogg, and I
don't know how he got onto this, but we were
talking about during the break and I think that I
think there's the possibility that that that that happened.

Speaker 1 (01:45:05):
That's just me.

Speaker 8 (01:45:06):
It could have been they could have made love.

Speaker 1 (01:45:08):
Well, I mean, look, inquiring minds sometimes continue to inquire,
and that's all manufactur. I was gonna say, I mean
that maybe maybe that's like, you know, a deathbed thing
of a snoop.

Speaker 2 (01:45:18):
Did you do it?

Speaker 8 (01:45:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (01:45:19):
I did.

Speaker 7 (01:45:19):
Oh.

Speaker 5 (01:45:20):
I think if he's got his tight buddies around, he's
smoking a split he process.

Speaker 1 (01:45:23):
Yeah, come on, man, I mean secrets. We're tight. Yeah,
but we're tight and you don't mind necessarily getting Yeah,
it's not really, but there also are something you've done
in fun, right, you take to the grave. Like in
this age of social media, it seems like people a
buddy of mine had this line of we we give
away more information than we probably should or that you
need to. Yeah. Yeah, and I think that's one of

(01:45:44):
those that got you in for breakfast, and nobody cares
about the concept of taking it to the grave sometimes
is is you know it's not a bad thing just
to take it there? There's absolutely no question. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:45:55):
I uh, but I don't think that's that's that news.
Like well, for instance, I think Billichick. I think Bill's
in love. Oh god, oh god, I think Bill is
in love. Like I told you in the team. Sorry,
starting to bubble up. I think Bill could be in love.
She's twenty four, he's seventy three. We are just as

(01:46:18):
close to nineteen seventy six in years traveled as we
are to Bill and Jordan's age difference.

Speaker 1 (01:46:27):
I gave you a shorter scenario, but it still plays.
And that is, he won his first super Bowl in
two thousand and two. She's twenty four years old. She
was in diapers when he won his first super Bowl. Well,
think about this, when he was in the prime of
his coaching career, she was in the womb. He will

(01:46:49):
be ninety eight and she will be in her forties.

Speaker 8 (01:46:53):
I mentioned yesterday.

Speaker 1 (01:46:54):
I just I just figured i'd throw that out one
more time. I never thought I think they love each other.

Speaker 8 (01:46:58):
Oh yeah, clearly.

Speaker 5 (01:47:01):
I don't think she does it for power or or
fame or money, and I think he does it because
he loves her. I don't think it is I think
he just loves a canoodle it. It's like it's like
a buddy of mine. Once I was like, hey, wa,
why why is she with that guy? And the guy
was filthy rich, and he goes, you know why what
you knew here? Yeah, exactly, what's the biggest age gap

(01:47:23):
that you did a guy for a female? They gotta
be Cole Smith, They got to be a legal age gay.
I'm talking about what's what's I guess it's his life.
He can do what ever he wants. But what do
most people if you, when does the judgment start and
no judgment starts? I mean, what's the age gap for
We'd say cool Bill's dating somebody twenty years younger than
No judgment.

Speaker 1 (01:47:41):
Would be north of thirty. I would say north of
thirty because it's also there's a feeling of you've had
some life experience. Okay, So if you're sixty, she's twenty four,
she has no life experience. Right.

Speaker 5 (01:47:53):
If you're sixty and you're making love to a thirty
year old guy to girl, I want every but legal. Okay,
guy to a girl? Is it okay? If your daughter
brings home with a guy thirty years older than her.
She's twenty, he's fifty, she's thirty, he's sixty, where does
the where's the oh gosh gross?

Speaker 1 (01:48:15):
Or this is it feels weird? Is it ten years?
Twenty years? You said it's thirty year gap? Now I
can tell you this.

Speaker 5 (01:48:22):
Even at this age, Bill's probably got buddies that are
saying you cool bastard, right, and then you've got the
other if you've got the like, what the hell is
he doing? Yeah, what's going on here, right, especially his life,
and he can do it. They're not bothering anybody practice, right,
that kind of stuff, the meddling and the you know
that she's basically feels like she's running or whatever the
hell they were doing right, doing stuff that doesn't seem

(01:48:43):
Bill can do whatever he wants. But real quick, do
you where's the cutoff? I'm sure curious what our what
our listeners think to the cutoff?

Speaker 2 (01:48:50):
Triply?

Speaker 5 (01:48:50):
What do you say twenty to? Is it thirty years,
ten years, fifteen years? Is it also held if the
guy's eighty, is it okay that he dates fifty? Or
when you or eighty, does it shorten? Well, you got
to date, you know, or marry somebody seventy? Or for
the female, for the female when she's forty, can she
date a guy twenty? What's the age limit for them
when they're the ones that are older? And what's the

(01:49:12):
age like the cougar thing, or what's the age limit
for a guy when you're like when people aren't skissed
a side eye on you? What's the age limit where
you can date somebody? What's the gap he's forty nine years.

Speaker 8 (01:49:23):
That's fifty.

Speaker 1 (01:49:26):
Roughly? Yes, like I said, sorry, you can start talking.
That's age. Yes, she is, basically yes, she would have
to double her age twice. She'd have to go.

Speaker 5 (01:49:42):
To think about it, she's twenty four, she has to
go twenty fourth, she has to go twenty four to
forty eight, and then forty eight. Add twenty four more years,
and that's about where you are.

Speaker 1 (01:49:52):
Add forty eight years.

Speaker 5 (01:49:54):
So double her birthday two one time and then another
time to get to his age. So I know that
difference is a little bit mind bogging. What is the
difference where it's no longer it's ten years? Nobody's really
shaking a stick out now. Thirty to twenty seems a
little odd. Forty to thirty doesn't Women are more mature
than dudes are anyway? All right, yes, fifty to thirty,

(01:50:15):
Well we're starting to tread a little more lightly. Twenty
years now, relationship we're just you know, do you just
decided you guys are just friends with benefits? Yea, there's
got to be a difference, right, yeah, so friends with benefits?
Maybe you change the gap can go wider. Is that
that didn't sound right? Let me back that up. The
age gap okay, now, okay, and then but when you're

(01:50:38):
gonna marry him, does it feel like it's got to
be closer or their relationship wise is there a difference.

Speaker 1 (01:50:43):
I'm just curious. I wonder how people feel about it. Well,
like I said, North to thirty, But we can continue
this and also too soon enough get into a little
bit of Jeremy Pania discussion. John Brandon Edwards. So you guys,
as a matter of fact, you know what, speaking of
Jordan Hudson, I can't wait. We're doing that next. It's
coming up. Sean Salisbury Show. The Sean Salisbury Show continued.

(01:51:08):
Get some of you in on the phone lines, Sean.
We played yesterday the bit of the interview that he
did with CBS Sunday Morning Belichick. That is where Jordan
herself stepped in and you know when Bill was asked about,
you know, how did you two meet and she said,
we're not answering that. Apparently there were numerous other interruptions

(01:51:31):
during this interview that it all started as well, where
Belichick showed up for this interview to talk about his
new book, The Art of Winning, and the crew for
CBS apparently was surprised when he showed up with no
PR person, nobody from University of North Carolina, no other
representation than just Jordan.

Speaker 5 (01:51:51):
He showed up with this PR person. Well it happens
to be his who run enterprises right and obviously runs
the practice schedule as well. Well, we saw that. I
never seeing a guy who is so no way would
this ever happen. Have his stones just completely yanked from him?
It's by a twenty four year old. We'll get to

(01:52:11):
that in a second. But apparently she had other interruptions
during the interview that it started to kind of throw
off the interview e for CBS. That including one of
them was where she got up and stormed out of
the room, basically beckoning to Bill to join her, and

(01:52:31):
it delayed the interview for over thirty minutes and they
left those interruptions out. TMZ Sports had this also, Mike
Floria had this that it finally got to a point
where it could be arranged for a second interview, and
the higher ups at CBS said, no, we're not doing this.
We'll make the most of what we've got and that's
what we'll go with. But it was a complete and

(01:52:54):
utter disaster. And it's also it's just like is Hubert's
right word of her, because you know what this is.
It's the old saying life is easier for pretty people,
because it is. I don't think she's that hot. See
that's part of it. Highly overrated from my eyes, and
that's she may be a nice person. I don't know

(01:53:15):
clearly she's right, but like it's it's also like, what
is that the heart of all this for me? You're
twenty four years old. You don't have any life experience,
You don't know anything you do, you don't have the
foundation to stand on to make demands like this. Okay,
so shouldn't the older guy. Shouldn't Bill Belichick who's put

(01:53:35):
teams and organizations together and has an organized practice schedule
and is is by dialed in by the minute of
what you do during your day.

Speaker 1 (01:53:44):
Isn't it his responsibility to.

Speaker 5 (01:53:46):
Say, like I said, maybe they love each other, but
if she doesn't, like you said, no life experience, why
is he letting her run practice? Because I say run practice,
that's a hyperbolic. But out there in go go boots
on the field. I would he even think that if
he if he, if he she was gonna stay this
like helicopter ish to this to him in the program

(01:54:07):
that he'd say, go put tennis shoes and a pair
of sweatpants on in a North Carolina Tar Hill powder
blue hoodie. Not something you'd wear when we're going out
in Vegas at night. My teammates Mi, Mike, Mike. The
kids I'm coaching are on the practice field that are
closer to your age by forty five years.

Speaker 8 (01:54:25):
Than I am.

Speaker 5 (01:54:26):
Here's how we're gonna do it. She doesn't get to
run the practice. I mean, we got we gotta be
serious here, buddy.

Speaker 1 (01:54:32):
Come on now. I love Bill. I do this is
and I'm not telling him who he should be dating.

Speaker 5 (01:54:38):
But while the optics are one thing, like I said,
if they really don't love, get married and spent happily
ever after I have four kids.

Speaker 1 (01:54:42):
Good for them.

Speaker 5 (01:54:43):
Okay, but the reasons why the meddling. I've never seen
a guy go from mister macho man, this is the
guy too?

Speaker 1 (01:54:53):
Who is this guy?

Speaker 13 (01:54:54):
Right?

Speaker 1 (01:54:54):
So fast? And it's you know, people all the time,
like the concepts of cult. You know, Jim Jones, all
all of those things. Oh man, that could never happen
to me. But then it's like you meet somebody that's impressionable.
Enough on you, and they start to make you believe this,
and then believe that, and then soon enough continue to
kind of stretch things out. Well, then soon enough you're

(01:55:15):
instead cult And I think in some ways right now
Bill is like, it's to the point, Sean where I'm like,
where are his kids?

Speaker 11 (01:55:22):
Like?

Speaker 2 (01:55:22):
What do you think?

Speaker 1 (01:55:23):
Nick Saban thinks of all of this? What are you
going to say?

Speaker 19 (01:55:25):
Though?

Speaker 5 (01:55:26):
Dad, don't do it. Try that to your kid, Dad.
They'll say, No, you're gonna tell me who I'm gonna date.
I don't tell you you're going to date. Why would
you be able to tell me that's what a that's
what a kid? Or I mean if the kids, if
if what are they doing?

Speaker 1 (01:55:38):
Yeah? Of course, but what are you doing?

Speaker 5 (01:55:40):
Don't you think broached a little bit, I mean and
brought to the tension. But if you're Bill, you heard
him in the interview, I don't really much care what
anybody thinks. I'm gonna do it's best for me. He
should care what his kids think, Absolutely, I would hope.
So I just think of the optics. Let's see, if
you had another child with a twenty four year old,
that'd be my age, and then my kids who haven't

(01:56:00):
had kids just yet.

Speaker 1 (01:56:02):
If their younger brother or.

Speaker 5 (01:56:04):
Sister, and how let's see, if my son had a child,
one of my boys had a baby, and then I
had a baby, they'd be so I'd be a grandpa
to his child, his child would be an a cousin
to my child, and my child would be the younger

(01:56:27):
brother or daughter or younger brother or sister of my
three kids. And the uncle and or the aunt would
be the same age. As this is where it's going, right,
that's weird. This is absolutely where it's going.

Speaker 1 (01:56:41):
Well, isn't that the next step in this? It absolutely
is the next step in this.

Speaker 5 (01:56:46):
Then we're gonna have another conversation. Like I said, it's
his business. They're not harming anybody that I mean, they
got to get approval from me his Like you said,
maybe they don't need approval or of validation from the
kids and her and her her prime assuming her parents
are both alive. I don't know, but all that, But
the truth of the matter is, when all said and done,
you're gonna do what you want to do. It just
optically makes us shake our head. But we see this

(01:57:06):
in Hollywood all the time. Right twenty years younger thirty
years younger, not telling them how to live their life.

Speaker 1 (01:57:12):
It's just a little bit different. I'd say.

Speaker 5 (01:57:15):
If they're in love, God bless them. Honestly, it's not
my business, but it it's good banter for us to
talk about forty nine years difference. What but undefeated and
you know exactly what it's talking yep.

Speaker 1 (01:57:29):
Now makes you do weird things. And we're seeing that
it's all yours the next that's all there. That's it,
I guys, get it. See you all right there, We
got full boards. We're gonna get to you all right
here and Chris Gordy join us in fifteen minutes. Sports
Talk seven ninety. Hey guys, the Texas Lottery. Listen, it's time.
The dream vacation's big, right. Who doesn't want to go
on a dream vacation? Correct?

Speaker 5 (01:57:51):
I know I do, and I imagine you do as well.
And I think it's a good thing because if you do,
you got a chance to win by playing the scratch
scratch off tickets. Right, Who doesn't want to play that
the scratch for a dream vacation to get off your
bucket list? So three million dollar cash scratch tickets from
the Texas Lottery and you could do just that get

a chance for to win a sky cruise and it's
the Paris Roman Lisbon.

Speaker 1 (01:58:17):
How cool is that? That's right?

Speaker 5 (01:58:19):
You could win a dream vacation via private jet to
Europe which stops in Paris Roman Lisbon. Plus you could
win three million dollars instantly. So play the three million
dollar cash scratch tickets today and enter for a chance
to win a European skycruise and three million dollars cash instantly.
Texas Lottery dot com, Texas Lottery dot com.

Speaker 2 (01:58:42):
This Sean Salisbury Show continues to continue.

Speaker 1 (01:58:47):
Edward and West Houston, good morning.

Speaker 8 (01:58:50):
Hey, how y'all doing?

Speaker 1 (01:58:51):
Good? Man?

Speaker 16 (01:58:53):
Hey great? Look the rocket I don't know, man, Mick Crepo,
nobody got and you're shooting at the line. So I
don't understand why you can't make three throws. They missed
twelve last night, so lose by three, So you know
you got to make the three throws, man, that's the
bottom line. And the Astros, I just want to say

(01:59:16):
I thought there was a great win for them over
Detroit simply because Detroit had been fifteen and oh when
they get three runs of more first. So that was
a great, great win for the Astros last night.

Speaker 1 (01:59:31):
Yeah, I mean on both, you know, both things we
talked about. Appreciate the call Edward to me. And you
know we've covered the free throw things with the rockets
with the Astros. I mean I think that you know,
it's one of those what a difference a year makes, Sean,
is that this time last year, the Astros lost that
game last night, they didn't get the clutch hit. They
weren't able to capitalize, you know, on earlier opportunities in

(01:59:54):
the game, i e. Clutch hit, making a play, whatever
it might be. But it seems like this team has
kind of turned the corner on that of you need
the defensive play, you need that key pitch or in
the case of last night, Hey jose L two Vey,
we're down three to two, it'd be nice if you'd
put one over the wall.

Speaker 5 (02:00:10):
All right, guys, I got you. And how many times
he done that in his career plenty much needed, no
question about it, And that was a phenomenal. That's one
of those, like I said, you point to certain victories
throughout the year. You get down to a good team
and you take care of it and get back into
it and chip away at it and get a couple
of long balls. There's that novel concept we've been talking about,

(02:00:30):
and uh, you find out getting.

Speaker 1 (02:00:32):
You know, you get another win.

Speaker 5 (02:00:34):
Solid, I mean, is gritty a better word for your
you know, Blanco hung in there, you know what I'm saying,
hung in there, and yeah, long enough for sure.

Speaker 1 (02:00:43):
Toughed it out.

Speaker 5 (02:00:43):
But you've got you got really good bullpen. The home
run obviously, but bullpen's been pretty clean man when they've
needed it. And Hater another save, so well did he get.

Speaker 1 (02:00:53):
No same situation? Yeah, that's right, you got.

Speaker 4 (02:00:57):
Game.

Speaker 1 (02:00:58):
That's exactly right.

Speaker 5 (02:00:59):
So he got another save and he's you know, has
not blown one yet one and so it's been the
bullpen mix and match has been pretty impressive.

Speaker 1 (02:01:08):
So a good thing. There's things to like.

Speaker 5 (02:01:10):
But I think Steve had alluded to it, kind of
said it, we may have to understand that this is
a peak and Valley team at the plate. He didn't
those are my words, but talked about, you know, the
consistency of it, that there's still a ways to go, right, Yeah,
and so but the pitching will keep you in it,
just like we've talked about. So I'm big on the
fact that I think that, you know, sometimes you just

(02:01:33):
gotta have this one of those years where you're just
gonna have to grind it out, maybe a little tougher
because it's different and maybe a little bit more unique
and something we're not used to here.

Speaker 1 (02:01:41):
Just doesn't look like you know, twenty one, twenty, nineteen seventeen,
all of those.

Speaker 5 (02:01:46):
It's just different, and different doesn't mean bad, but it's
probably not going to be as simple. When I say simple,
they've made it look much more simple. Last year it
was a grind as well. They're used to it. But
there's new bodies here, so it may just be that pitching.
He's got to keep doing your thing. And hence they've
done one hell of a job. The starters and bullpen
of being the star of this team.

Speaker 1 (02:02:05):
So far, they hit, they win. It's as simple as that.
John on the Northwest Side, Good morning, John.

Speaker 12 (02:02:10):
Hey Fellaws, what's up man?

Speaker 10 (02:02:12):
You know?

Speaker 12 (02:02:13):
Uh, I come back to the NBA somewhat because I
watched the Rockets and I do love the physicality.

Speaker 11 (02:02:19):
I hadn't seen that in a many years. I'm enjoying it.

Speaker 12 (02:02:22):
Although I think it's just a little bit too much
physical news of this goon stuff.

Speaker 11 (02:02:28):
Some of that gotta be cut out of so much
going on that they're not even playing basketball. But let
me say this, man, I see Odoka trying and I
love him. The debt, you know, he said, he said,
Jamen Green down for a while, he brought nothing. Then
he brought him back in he brought nothing. I thought
the coach went with him just a little bit too long,
Sin said him on the bench.

Speaker 12 (02:02:51):
I don't care if you got to sit him on
the bench for the whole game, and if you win
the next game with him on the bench and leave
him on there, because he needs to learn and listen,
Torry Eason and bring with more in there. Let's see
what he have. He's a scoring machine. Maybe maybe the
storm won't kill him. But Tory reason, the storm does
not seem to bother him. Give that little kid, I

(02:03:16):
was telling y'all about the other Aaron Holiday, give him
a few minutes not to go guard Curry Chris, to
guard that other little kid with the current they have Riskey,
whatever his name is. But the thing about Aaron Holiday, also,
the storm doesn't seem to bother.

Speaker 8 (02:03:32):
Him very much.

Speaker 11 (02:03:33):
When you know when it comes to office, you know, I.

Speaker 12 (02:03:36):
Mean, go with that, man, But actually, yeah, I'm kicking
on Jalen Green. But the whole team, all the guys
in all four games have not played well on offence.
And Jesus, I've never seen teams miss so many free throws.
The preson has really gotten to them mentally, you know.
I mean, heck, you could have won all four games

(02:03:57):
just if you'd have made maybe ten free throws. You know,
but Odoki is trying. They young, but still, you know,
Jalen Green, I am very disappointing you because I've cut
for Jamen Green. They have a safety being there. I've
heard people talk about trading him and this and that
and everything. And mind you, now these guys are still young.
But Jalen, you in the NBA, now you're getting paid

(02:04:19):
big money.

Speaker 11 (02:04:19):
You can't do that.

Speaker 12 (02:04:21):
You got to show up, show up at least three
out of four games, two out of four game. Now
you have one one good game and all the other
three you're not even in there.

Speaker 11 (02:04:30):
Sit on the bitch, you know. I'm frustrated. Man, y'all,
y'all have a good day.

Speaker 5 (02:04:35):
Man, all right, see you, John, I mean, at this
point John, John's beside himself.

Speaker 1 (02:04:41):
You know, Game five, you're down three to one. I
mean his point about Aaron Holiday one hots. I mean,
at this point your season is legit on the line.
Switch it up a little bit. You want to talk
about a.

Speaker 5 (02:04:56):
A buzzkill for Jalen Green if you decide that he's gonna,
you know, sit and not get as many minutes after
I mean, but you're talking about sending at this point
in time, single elimination, send a message. It's not about
one guy, it's about Everybody's what you're saying. I got
to get better game out of him. I'm not this
world to do you any favors. Yeah, that's the decision
they're gonna have to make. My gut is that ain't
gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (02:05:16):
My gut is it.

Speaker 5 (02:05:17):
He's going to play and get a lot of minutes,
but he's got to elevate. It's going to be the
off season. As good as he's as much as he's improved,
the off season talk and chatter will elevate. If you
go Game five and the same thing happens, well, first
of all, they'll have trouble advancing. But he truthfully has
to He's got to be that closer, like you know

(02:05:37):
when your turkey out on the tenth hole, I mean
tenth hole at the on the bowling alley, in the
tenth frame, bingo bango, bongo and.

Speaker 1 (02:05:43):
Close out with the turkey. He has to do that
right easily.

Speaker 5 (02:05:48):
Yes, I mean as close to it as you can.
So you're saying, okay, this guy, he's elevated four playoff games.
I don't know if I'm really ready to quit, But
I also I am not in the feel good business
of let's let me slage of personality if you're not
showing up my responsibilities to the other dudes that are
on to the organization. I got to get the best
guys playing their best basketball against Golden State, and things may.

Speaker 1 (02:06:09):
Have to happen. Reputations start for a reason, for sure.
Speaking of a guy it's got a good reputation, he's

On the brink of elimination one nine one six losers
last night to the Warriors in the Bay Area. Three
one is the deficit. Astros though eight five winners over
the Detroit Tigers. Good to see that. And the draft
came and went over the weekend. All these things that
we'll touch on with Chris Gordyon, and you know, maybe
even we even a little bit of Bill Belichick Jordan

(02:07:41):
Hudson with him to Sean Well, we'll have to see
because Gordy joins us twice a week every week courtesy

I mean, thousand foot forew here just last night's game,
I mean, every single frustration just realized what this team
on the offensive end.

Speaker 8 (02:08:00):
Yeah, it, dude, it's it's frustrated.

Speaker 20 (02:08:02):
That felt like one they had, Like I mean, it
felt like they had to win, and it felt like
they were going to win. I don't know if you
guys stayed up for it, but it was I stayed
up all quite a bit of it.

Speaker 16 (02:08:12):
Oh.

Speaker 20 (02:08:12):
It was just it was so frustrating. And they have
the ball down one with thirteen seconds to go. They
call a timeout and they come out. They drop a
play for Alpi. He hits a runner in the lane
and it just falls off and there's Jimmy Butler right up,
grabs the rebound file. He goes the line. He doesn't
miss a free throw. I mean, like every big free
throw down the stretch he got follow on that three.

(02:08:34):
Dylan Brooks followed him on. He makes all three. It's
just that's what's frustrating to me last night was the
disparity in those guys made their free throws in big
spots and the rockets just I mean, Dylan Brooks with
with Ama Thompson with I mean.

Speaker 8 (02:08:49):
Dude, free throws.

Speaker 20 (02:08:50):
I'd be if I'm Imodoka when this season ends, which
is my end this week. I want every guy every
day of the off season, shoot a thousand free throws.

Speaker 8 (02:08:59):
Like, there's no excuse your professional athlete. This is like
a field goal or a field goal kicker shank in
twenty nine.

Speaker 1 (02:09:05):
Yarders, like, this is what you do continually.

Speaker 8 (02:09:08):
It's the easiest thing. Now, shock when the ball is minusculing.
Your hands are massive. I get it.

Speaker 20 (02:09:14):
It's hard, like a baseball in his hands. Dylan Brooks,
Simon Thompson, Jabari Smith. Bro you've been shooting free throws
your life.

Speaker 1 (02:09:20):
Gordy, Here's what I said.

Speaker 5 (02:09:21):
As a team, you can't shoot free throws like as
a group like Shack, you got to shoot them like
a point guard. Yeah, and going into the series, it's
so elementary, but we did say you have to make
free throws and the same thing that you had to
do in the seventh grade when your dad took you
to a free throw shooting contest. They it's going to

(02:09:42):
be their demise in this series if they lose it.
Two things. Jalen Green's inconsistency is a guy that you
needed to be a star, yes, and the ability to
to the inability should I say to not to knock
down free throws, not just at any point in the
game A clutch, but at any point the game to
keep you close. And the amazing thing you still have

(02:10:03):
a chance with three points. All you got to do
is knock out freaked you know, four of them, and
we're looking at some different You can't do that against
an average team, let alone a good team that on
the other ends shooting eighty five or ninety.

Speaker 8 (02:10:19):
Team of six were twenty for twenty two.

Speaker 5 (02:10:23):
Now look at rebounds, Gordy, They they out rebound him
in this series. Go they out rebound them. They've they've
done a pretty decent job defensively.

Speaker 1 (02:10:32):
The problem is.

Speaker 20 (02:10:34):
Time they get a fifty seven to fifty lead and
they hold the Warriors scoreless.

Speaker 8 (02:10:39):
Select those last two minutes.

Speaker 1 (02:10:39):
That's exactly right.

Speaker 5 (02:10:40):
So the defensive commitment by it, all those things, and
he say, okay, if we got that good but the
two things you had to have, what do we So
two of the game outpis dominated inside. You knew he'd
show up and get his He advantaged him in this series.
And thank god for Fred van Vliet last night, Yes
and the boys. Van Vleet continues to log forward minutes
after forty minutes, after forty minutes two, Thanks your star's

(02:11:04):
got to play better, obvious captain obviously, And you can't
go nineteen to thirty one against Golden State. You can't
go nineteen to thirty one against Oakill Academy. You know
what I'm saying, You've got to make frithos. But that
has been a problem for them. And can you imagine
going into your offseason saying, yeah, a guy who has
to score for us and free throws sent us home.
Think about that now. So not that they're just so

(02:11:27):
much more talented in overhead, two of our guys got hurt.
Oh you had chances and you couldn't shoot freetows in
Your star was one for four.

Speaker 1 (02:11:35):
That's he's hitting two fifty.

Speaker 8 (02:11:37):
To lose to that team.

Speaker 20 (02:11:38):
Though Draymond and his got the fact he done not
get ejected was an absolute joke. I mean, the they
this is the second time this year that he gets
a technical early in the game, and they have another
example of what should be a technical and they go
to the film and go no flagrant, Like.

Speaker 8 (02:11:54):
It's absolutely you're knowingly doing it to not eject them.

Speaker 1 (02:11:58):
I mean, and it wasn't even the grabbing Tari Easton's
jersey as Eddie Johnson and that's and that's it too.
They're like that alone warrants the technical where you throw
him out.

Speaker 20 (02:12:10):
He is literally the brother and sister when the mom
turns his back and like punches you and the mom
turns around.

Speaker 8 (02:12:14):
What we didn't do anything?

Speaker 13 (02:12:16):
Like?

Speaker 8 (02:12:16):
He literally does whatever he can when the refs you.

Speaker 5 (02:12:18):
Throw the eraser at the teacher, Yeah, and you look
at it and it's everybody else's what are you doing?

Speaker 1 (02:12:24):
Don't look at me?

Speaker 5 (02:12:25):
And we all know who threw it, right, So what
is two technicals equal in a basketball game?

Speaker 1 (02:12:30):
You're on, You're done, see you and they don't.

Speaker 20 (02:12:34):
They won't do it because it's it's almost like a
memo was sent from up above, like like Adam Silver,
we know he's dirty, but ratings and all this, whatever
you can do to keep him in.

Speaker 1 (02:12:46):
The guy's got a Hall pass, he served his suspension,
you know, he's you know, he was good during that,
so I mean it just taps him with you. I
don't understand.

Speaker 20 (02:12:58):
He got the two seed and this is who we got,
Like I'd rather lose to the thunder, Like I'd rather
lose to somebody that you're like, well, they're just better
than us. This team isn't just downright better than you.
They have stuff Curry, they have a Jimmy Butler, Yes,
but like Rockets have made plays, they just it's they
stupid mistakes.

Speaker 1 (02:13:15):
But it's getting back to Jalen Green. I mean, it's
Brandon Pajemski last night, twenty six points, It's Buddy Healed,
It's Gary Payton Junior in Game three, where it's like
the other guys have to be able to fill in too,
And it's like, you know, we talk about this team
doesn't have one singular guy, and we're kind of putting
it on Jalen Green. But then it's like, all right,
well what about the other guys.

Speaker 8 (02:13:36):
Let me pose it to you guys. Because this just
came out from bed online.

Speaker 20 (02:13:38):
Giannis Antetokumpo is probably going to be out of of
Milwaukee the next team. Odds, the Brooklyn Nuts are the
favorite three to one. The Houston Rockets second best odds
at four to one.

Speaker 1 (02:13:50):
Talked about it earlier. We did discuss that you have
to do.

Speaker 8 (02:13:52):
Is there is there anyone off limits?

Speaker 20 (02:13:54):
They love Aman Thompson, they will protect him at all costs,
but is everybody else on the team?

Speaker 5 (02:13:58):
How much good basketball? How much superstar MVP type basketball.

Speaker 1 (02:14:02):
You think.

Speaker 5 (02:14:04):
Years, I say a solid five. Let me tell you
a little secret. Everybody is on deck and then Thompson,
I get it. You'd like to say, this is our
one of the guys we're putting aside Shoon, Jayden Green,
jar every single when this is a different cat. This

(02:14:24):
is even different than Kevin Durray if you had a
choice too. It's not close right now. As much I love,
you're not getting that Kevin Durant now, depending on what
you had to give up with assets and current players,
that guy instantly elevates your team even if.

Speaker 8 (02:14:37):
You lose three.

Speaker 5 (02:14:39):
Because I was going to ask the question before you
do this, is Jalen Green after this series if this
continues movable? And the answer is absolutely, well.

Speaker 20 (02:14:46):
Look at the way they structured his deal. They rewarded
him do this, but it was easy to get out.

Speaker 1 (02:14:50):
That's exactly right.

Speaker 8 (02:14:51):
But can he play with can Yannis and Shingoon?

Speaker 5 (02:14:54):
I think that I that I do, I do, and
it's suppressed when a guy like that comes in, it's
not you're telling Yannis to adjust to him. Shn Gun
has Now I don't know who'd be who's easier to
adjust to the other guy. But we put it this way, Gordy,
to answer that question, it's a problem i'd like to
have to deal with.

Speaker 1 (02:15:14):
Okay. I'd like to say, okay, right, so you hear it.

Speaker 5 (02:15:18):
You've got to give up three points in your position
here and do the we'll work it out. I'm willing
to take that shot to work it out. Yes, you
jump into the fray. Yes, you pay him and everybody
even though you got something you'd like to say, Well,
don't talk to me about this guy, which of course
they will, but I'll damn well tell you. If you're
the second best Dodgs, jump up and be the first best,

(02:15:39):
get out in front of him.

Speaker 1 (02:15:39):
Do it, and I can.

Speaker 5 (02:15:40):
There's no way. Udoka sitting back saying we'll pass. Yeah,
this is different.

Speaker 20 (02:15:46):
We tried the young core with the two Vets and
Fred and Dylan, but it's Superstar time. That's it's the
young This is you're close, but you're the two seed
and you're gonna get You're gonna lose in the first
round here, Superstar.

Speaker 5 (02:16:00):
That's the thing. You got two guys, blue guys. You
get your agitator, Dylan Brooks a good player. Get Fred
van Vliet, who's got a championship ring and is solid.
But you don't have the guy that when he walks
into the arena, everybody knows the best player on the
floor is that catch.

Speaker 8 (02:16:15):
Jimmy Butler is the reason the Warriors are going to
win it.

Speaker 5 (02:16:17):
And guess what, Giannis is a better player than Jimmy.
Although I love Jimmy. So you bring it here, you
instantly walk into every reena knowing if that guy plays
his best, we've got a chance to win the West
with still a good even though you're gonna get people up,
you're still going to have a good array of young,
skilled players here.

Speaker 1 (02:16:34):
And it's also too there's fools golden believing that this
is a championship roster because you're so deficient offensively. Yeah,
like you know the whole I'll running back offensively, And
that's exactly it I mean of, I'll run it back.
Then what you become possibly the New Orleans Pelicans of
last year.

Speaker 11 (02:16:51):
I've heard.

Speaker 20 (02:16:51):
I've heard a couple of bills say, tied your own,
the point guard from the Calves would fit here. Great,
he's gonna be a free agent. No offense to Fred,
but he's got on a forty two million dollars option next. Yes,
look love you, Fred, But I mean if you can
bring in Tide your rome as a point guard and
make a trade that you get Giannis in here, whatever
combination of who's left over, that's a that's a pretty
damn good you know, championship caliber yea.

Speaker 5 (02:17:14):
And the truth is this isn't just like, oh, we're
just kind of chasing a ghost and staring in the
sky and hope. This is a legitimate situation with Giannis
for the NBA and for the Rockets. This is a
legitimate offseason. He's moving and if you're him, why wouldn't
you want.

Speaker 8 (02:17:28):
To be here? I think of Milwaukee, what what's Brooklyn got?

Speaker 20 (02:17:32):
The Rockets have all these future picks and the young talent,
You're gonna be able to put together a much better package.

Speaker 1 (02:17:38):
That's if you're looking.

Speaker 5 (02:17:38):
If you're looking for the value you want in return,
the Brooklyn's not in your in your area code. They're
literally not and figuratively not as well.

Speaker 10 (02:17:48):
Well.

Speaker 5 (02:17:48):
I mean, especially to the draft capital the Rockets have.
That's part of the assets that you're gonna have to give.
But that's okay for him.

Speaker 1 (02:17:54):
Time for Astros Yeah, they look good man, let's do
that again.

Speaker 8 (02:17:59):
I like b J. Hinch was nice pay back for
that playoff loss. That's here.

Speaker 1 (02:18:03):
Well, I mean you know you got good with that,
which you know Crawford Bock goes with that, but also too,
I mean Carbock help us after last night.

Speaker 20 (02:18:11):
Yeah, we had a good Uh. We did a watch
party on Friday night. It was good to see a
lot of folks come. Buy of this weather is it's
so nice. Get outside right now, get out to the
beer garden over there, car Box. It's a perfect time
of year it because you know, in two months this
thing's gonna be absolutely miserable out there. But it was
fun to be out there. A lot of folks came
out for the watch party at Carbock on Friday night.
And then I was at the ballpark last night. Plenty

(02:18:31):
of Crawford Bok being served up. And so it's the
it's the beer that goes perfect with Astros baseball. When
you're watching over there at dyke In Park, grab you
an ice called Crawford Bach and hey, another one tonight.
Let's see if the Astros can make this. Can they
win another one? Can they win three in a row?

Speaker 8 (02:18:45):
Guys?

Speaker 1 (02:18:45):
Oh my gosh, we will you know, well you can
call that a winning streak. I mean you did, duck folks.
You know you hit multiple home runs two times in
a row here, so why not go for three? And
by the way, nice seats last night. I saw that
you must know some high people.

Speaker 8 (02:18:59):
Yeah, I know people down the hall who said we
have tickets of Verae.

Speaker 1 (02:19:01):
Now you're a maka. Don't sell yourself Shore.

Speaker 2 (02:19:04):
That's good.

Speaker 1 (02:19:04):
That's a good person to know though.

Speaker 2 (02:19:06):
That got down the all way.

Speaker 5 (02:19:07):
That's a good ticket day, buddy. You want to go
to the game of gotcha? Well, we know who the
real Barrieds are. It's a her in this building and
we know who that is, right, she's right of the
whole show. That's a good thing. It's always good to
have friends, for sure. Gordy, you're the best, buddy. Appreciate
it all, Jets, I'm gonna go find gorilla.

Speaker 1 (02:19:22):
Oh yeah, that's right.

Speaker 2 (02:19:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:19:25):
It's all about the venue and it's all about strategy.
That's what we came down to. Bum rushing with one hundred.
That's a strengthen numbers. That's what you're looking for, Brandon
j See you guys right there also to the Jeremy

Speaker 1 (02:21:22):
How are you guys outstanding? How about you, Buddy good?
It's on your mind? What's on your mind today about
the rockets?

Speaker 8 (02:21:31):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 12 (02:21:34):
I do not want to.

Speaker 2 (02:21:38):
When maybe we're in.

Speaker 12 (02:21:39):
The whole thing.

Speaker 1 (02:21:41):
I like your style, Brandon, but uh, how did they
how do they do it. You gotta start tomorrow night
and then you know you got to go back to
Golden State. So you still you still believe in these guys,
You still believe they can do it?

Speaker 2 (02:21:55):
Yes, all right?

Speaker 1 (02:21:56):
What's what's your belief? Who who you believing in? Okay,
all right, I'll ride with you on that. He played
well last night and yeah they've needed him. But what
about Jalen Green Buddy, we got to have him, yes
for sure? What about these astros? Hey we won yesterday. Yeah,

(02:22:18):
nice to see Christian Walker, jose L two, they both
leave the yard. Josh Hater closed the door. Those are
good things.

Speaker 10 (02:22:24):
Yep.

Speaker 18 (02:22:25):
Hey, I'm gonna be leaving on Friday because we're going
to my mom's all work.

Speaker 1 (02:22:31):
Okay, nice, fair enough man? You excited about it?

Speaker 12 (02:22:36):
Yep?

Speaker 1 (02:22:37):
Awesome, man, Well have some fun and I know you'll
talk to us before before Friday, so uh yeah, man,
we'll talk to you again here tomorrow.

Speaker 15 (02:22:46):
Hey, where is the eighteen at went tomorrow?

Speaker 9 (02:22:52):
No?

Speaker 1 (02:22:52):
On Friday, Oh Friday, I'm in studio, That's that's my guess,
just because of the TV side. But tomorrow, Uh, they're
gonna be there at the Corona Lounge right there inside
Toyota Center.

Speaker 11 (02:23:05):
You know what I will.

Speaker 3 (02:23:07):
I'm gonna be there sometimes.

Speaker 1 (02:23:10):
Okay, well, if you if you see him, drop by
and sayalo to Adam and Adam for us. Okay, yeah,
they'll love to hear from you, but.

Speaker 8 (02:23:16):
Absolutely, Yeah, you guys have a good day.

Speaker 1 (02:23:19):
See Brandon appreciate it, buddy. Brandon always gets the most
out of it, doesn't he always. I always appreciate that
from Brandon.

Speaker 10 (02:23:27):
You know.

Speaker 1 (02:23:27):
He he's he still still believes in his rockets and
he's excited about the Astros and uh yeah, I'm with
yeah for sure.

Speaker 2 (02:23:37):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (02:23:37):
Jay on the northeast side, Jay, good morning.

Speaker 17 (02:23:41):
Hey, what's so?

Speaker 1 (02:23:42):
What's up?

Speaker 11 (02:23:43):
Hey, Sean he experience.

Speaker 5 (02:23:48):
Oh, I don't think there's any question. I don't think
there's any question. What you know, we want to call
it little old man's strength whatever it is. Yeah, old
man strength that can still you know, like when you
when you're you're your pops gets a little older and
you think I'm at the age I can whoop him,
and then you kind of just toying around with him
a little bit and he gets you in a grip
and you're like, Okay, Pops, I still.

Speaker 1 (02:24:09):
Can't get you that may be the case here.

Speaker 5 (02:24:11):
Well, talent obviously shines, but talent the old pup, which
is poison under pressure, Golden stats just been better. Gold
Stat's just better at it. Then this team is experience.
Yeah sometimes And you know what, Jay, I asked myself
this a lot in sports, and I'll ask guys that
are far better at you know, more experienced or experts
at it that I think I know, and I overrated, underrated,

(02:24:36):
And rarely have I heard experience underrated when it gets
to postseason in any sport. Familiarity, comfort, guys that go
to a second super Bowl, it just you know, all
the stuff that goes with it. So I do Jay,
going into the series, I felt free throws stars got
to rear their head, as we know, and you have

(02:24:57):
to deal with that moxie as I called it, the
ability that this old man's strength stuff. They just kind
of know what to do in the right situation. You know,
you know how to change the tire better than the
first time you teach a twenty one year old, right,
oh man, Dad, or a sixteen year old or however
they are when we teach them at twelve, right, and
you just although they get good at it, they're just
not comfortable with it. It feels like that's what I'm

(02:25:17):
seeing in this series as part of it.

Speaker 11 (02:25:20):
And I think the Rocket's got a better team.

Speaker 5 (02:25:22):
But I do too, more depth, more depth, I agree.
How do you stand at the free throw line and
not knock down free throws?

Speaker 8 (02:25:30):
Buddy?

Speaker 1 (02:25:31):
Whether it's nerves or something.

Speaker 5 (02:25:32):
Yeah, and the other team Old Man's strength is knocking
them down at a really big clip.

Speaker 11 (02:25:37):
I think they're going to have a blowout game five,
but when they go for Game six, that's when they're
gonna lose it.

Speaker 8 (02:25:45):
They're gonna turn.

Speaker 5 (02:25:46):
Cool, all right, Sean, appreciate you y, great stuff man,
you two buddy. Thanks, But I think it's a big
part of it, Dan, I do. I don't think it's underrated.

Speaker 1 (02:25:53):
Well, I mean, you know it's Frank Castan to try
to cheat that. Try to teach that to George Castan's
as part of the feats of strength festive This is
not over until you pin the old Man. Well, you know,
make sure you end Festivus here if you're if you're
the Rockets, the old Man, and remember the old old
Man knows all the side roads to get there. You
know what I'm saying or the side moves is that
he learned that you you've kind of forgot about. He

(02:26:16):
knows them.

Speaker 5 (02:26:16):
And and the fact is Golden State may have a
little bit of a little gray or beard and longer
in the tooth, but they're still talented depth wise. This
team is more talented at the top. The two best
players reside with the Golden State Warriors in the series,
and quite frankly, of all of them, you're taking those
two first in a short term type deal. They just

(02:26:38):
that that's just the way it works.

Speaker 12 (02:26:39):
Man.

Speaker 1 (02:26:40):
It's the steps in manhood of you know, you know,
can you beat the old man at one on one?
And then you finally do and you're kind of like, well, now.

Speaker 5 (02:26:46):
What, well, you know what happens is the old man
no longer Then it's like you can no longer play,
turn the keys over to you, I've handed you the court,
I'm done, and now they sit back and observe.

Speaker 1 (02:26:56):
Yeah, and they finally get you. I've had it with
my kids and finally gets you.

Speaker 5 (02:26:59):
It's like, oh, okay, all right, now we're talking right,
or at least they compete with you, and then they
want to get you to you know, two of them
playing you once in the next week and you find out, Okay,
now I'm actually in for a this is a matchup.
Now my kid's taller than me. Now it's it's a ballgame.
Now I got to rough him up a little bit,
because that's the just skill set takes its toll. Little
experience in skill set because they've seen it enough and

(02:27:21):
then they recognize your moves and they're better at your
moves than you are because they finally figured it out.
Golden State's got that over the Rockets. The Rockets haven't
figured that part of it out.

Speaker 1 (02:27:29):
Yeah, the Rockets are the young wolf and Golden State
seemingly as the wise old owl. That's how this thing
is playing out right now. You know, we'll get back
in some astros conversation here because interesting stuff about Jeremy
Pania yesterday set about him and then also his reaction.
We'll talk about it here Sean Salisbury Show.

Speaker 5 (02:27:48):
Hey, guys, let's talk about Men's Tea clinicmen'st clinic dot com. Guys,
there's no reason to stay stuck in lower gear. The
word or the phrase should I say that I want
you to think about for the rest of twenty twenty five,
and today a sluggish brain fog. Sexual wellness isn't going well.
Things aren't going the way you want. I'm twenty twenty
five started off sluggish. You need your energy, whatever it is,

(02:28:09):
testosterone on your mind. Get to mensty clinic five convenient locations.
You don't need to stay stuck in lower gear. It
is not non invasive. You're gonna draw a little blood
and then they're gonna put a plan together to normalize
your testosterone and watch your life change. Don't you want that?
Don't you want to get up and feel good. Nobody
wants to be miserable when they wake up, so it
could be just a simple adjustment and optimization wellness is

(02:28:33):
a phrase I'm talking about for twenty twenty five.

Speaker 1 (02:28:35):
You've heard it, now go put it to work.

Speaker 2 (02:28:38):
Listen.

Speaker 5 (02:28:38):
Motivation is a good thing. It's the new year motivated.
I gotta get over it. Well that goes away, but discipline,
discipline to do it with optimization wellness, Now that's permanent.
And then once you get that feel, you're like, Okay,
I'm gonna stay and consistent with this and be consistent
all the way through. So get out of twenty twenty four,
get into twenty twenty five or already a quarter plus
in what are you waiting on? Optimization wellness to get

(02:29:02):
you full body wellness? Put it all together and twenty
twenty five becomes epic in your favor. It is Men's
T Clinic, Men's T Clinic dot com, Optimization Wellness, great team.

Speaker 8 (02:29:13):
What are you waiting on?

Speaker 5 (02:29:15):
You do not have to be stuck in lower gear
and Men's T Clinic can help. MEN'ST Clinic dot Com,
MEN'ST Clinic dot Com. The Shawn Salisbury Show continued, that
was quite a few. I'm sure probably once the show
started to get notoriety. Well, I think he has actually
talked about his impersonation of him and how Steinbrenner took

(02:29:36):
it right. He's what a brilliant comedy guy, everything right,
all of it, Curby enthusiasm, every bit of it.

Speaker 1 (02:29:44):
That's why I always love people bring back Seinfeld. I'm like,
you're watching Seinfeld. He's doing it for you right here.
The guy was the emphasis for George Costanza. He's right
in front of you. But anyway, Rockets lose last night
at one nine, six to two the Warriors, and they're
now down three one in the series. Astros though eight
five winners over the Detroit Tigers. And speaking of the Astros, now,

(02:30:08):
we've talked the E word on this show, sean extension,
and we've thrown it at Hunter Brown as of recent times.
And it's also when you resigned fromber do all those things.
What about Jeremy Pania, Because that topic was broached yesterday
as Jose Altuve again catching up with the media there
on the field after the lineup, came out, Hey Joe,

(02:30:29):
why is Jose batting second? Well, it's his idea. He
talked about that, but then he also threw this out
about Jeremy Pania, of course, who was batting in front
of him last night and heaping praise and also a
request to the Astros front office. I think he's more.

Speaker 21 (02:30:44):
Mature, and he's a guy that you know, works hard,
plays in our shows up every day, willing to go
and play and willing to learn. And when you combine
all those things, you're gonna have a great year. You know,
you're gonna become a superstar. And he's a very valuable
player for us, and you know, I'm very so proud
he's not signing to a long term year with you know,

(02:31:05):
deal with with the Astros. You know, he's a guy
that you really want him on your team for the
long term. So I think, you know, Donna Brown and
mister Crane needs to start.

Speaker 8 (02:31:14):
Working on that.

Speaker 7 (02:31:16):
That's exactly.

Speaker 1 (02:31:17):
Yeah, jeez, heads up over there is sound like, uh
you had a ricochet off one of the nets out
there that nearly came over to the media. That was
you got you get. Never turn your back on the
ball field. That's that's that's the number one rule in
in baseball.

Speaker 5 (02:31:31):
You know what I like too about Jose You have
you noticed he always likes to get in a about
contracts with players that he wants.

Speaker 8 (02:31:38):
I love it.

Speaker 1 (02:31:38):
Oh, by the way, if if you know, Dan.

Speaker 5 (02:31:41):
Brown and mister Crank can start working on that contract
for long term, that'd be a great thing.

Speaker 1 (02:31:45):
It's it's kind of it's kind of getting he does
that for his guys. I love where it's like it's like, hey,
you know what, Look, you know you didn't do it
for Bregman, but uh yeah, I'll cut you a little
bit of a deal here to in my career with
you guys, and you know, would be nice to keep winning.
So you didn't give me give to Penia, Now there
you going not a bad game? Yeah, I was gonna say,
or Bregmann, well you didn't give them, and then Hunter

(02:32:06):
Brown too, and I saw somebody else throw out and
Fromber as well, I was like, first things first, because
I mean, you gotta throw and I understand that the
numbers aren't there right now, but Jiner, you gotta throw
that that name in there. But the last seven games
for Jeremy Penia three eighty five with a four nine

(02:32:27):
on base percentage.

Speaker 5 (02:32:28):
Well, if you're putting it, he's no doubt. And if
you're putting them all into a hopper and say which
one do you want to come out? First, it's Hunter.

Speaker 1 (02:32:34):
Brown easily, That's that's number one on my list. And
second may very well be Jeremy Pania. Yeah yeah, I
mean because he's in a conversation for second. First is
I don't think there's a conversation. No, it's the big
right hander. Well, I mean, and that's something that I'm
telling you that you need to start working right right.

Speaker 5 (02:32:53):
But the priority is going to be well if I'm
talking about if they do it because of the timing,
obviously Fromber's is coming up before.

Speaker 8 (02:33:00):
I mean, this is I mean, it's either now or.

Speaker 1 (02:33:04):
You think he's right. I think the mind's made up
on from right and it may very well be.

Speaker 5 (02:33:09):
But if you're talking about extensions to guys that aren't
in the last year of their contract, it's got to
start with their number two in the rotation.

Speaker 1 (02:33:16):
Who's quite frankly an Ace. Oh, he is your number
one right now, no doubt as far as I'm concerned,
like you, we're not going to get a lot of argument. Well,
I mean we we we did the old you know
what would be your you need you need to win
a must win game today. Yeah, it's it's number fifty eight.
It's nothing against fromber But I trust Hunter Brown one
hundred percent more than I trust Fromberville. Does both can

(02:33:37):
be true?

Speaker 5 (02:33:37):
They're both really good top of rotation guys is good
at left handed right hander combination. I mean they're in
that team picture of you're saying, who's the best one
to two guys in baseball? They they belong when they're
at their best, and even when they're not, they can
grind it out. And Hunter Brown's better at it right now.
And I don't think there's any argument that he's that
around baseball that the guy is becoming. Oh, we got

(02:33:59):
a guy type guy and he's pitching like it. He's
done nothing to get better since this time last year,
and he hasn't looked back.

Speaker 1 (02:34:06):
And Jeremy Pana responded last night in the clubhouse when asked,
quote love Houston, loved the city, Houston, loved his team
all I've known, and I feel like it's every kid's
dream to play their whole career for the same team.
As of right now, my focus just to show up
every single day and play. I admire Al Tuvey's great teammates,
so for him to say that means a lot. The
focus is just to play in when ball games. It

(02:34:28):
gets back to the leadership thing that you brought up
earlier about him, of a guy that's kind of bided
his time, waited his turn, and now he's one of
the more senior guys in that clubhouse, and the guy
that's gotten as much run from the experience and the
success that he's had here that you've got guys in
that clubhouse that he says something, Oh, I'll listen because
I see the work that guy puts in. I see

(02:34:49):
the production he's given us. And if he's saying something
that's going to carry some weight.

Speaker 5 (02:34:53):
Plus you talked about there's a leadership that goes with maturity.
It's really hard to play great when the only thing
when the thing is thinking about is the dollars and
cents that you're going to get at the end of it.
It's hard to be at your best. And I know
it sounds so cliche. I'm just going to go and play.
But those guys who can compartmentalize and get into when
they walk, their focus is on doing everything right.

Speaker 1 (02:35:15):
The money will come.

Speaker 5 (02:35:16):
It doesn't go the opposite where you you you hope
the you're you're thinking money, but you're not putting the
time in. I believe pain you really is putting all
the time in necessary to be rewarded. It's a really
hard thing to do, and it's hard not to think
about life changing money coming your way. Right, But with
that in mind, it's hard to get to the life
changing money if you're not taking care of your day job.

(02:35:38):
And I think he has the right perspective, Well, you've
seen it happen to guys where they don't with him.
When you mix talent with a guy who's willing to
put his time in and then just take on roles
at whatever they want him to do. He and the
talent matches the work ethic and playing smart. Jeremy Payne
has got a great future here, and want to tell

(02:36:00):
you this, it's probably better to get him in early
than it is to wait, because then the big boys
come in and you got to compete with them, and
that's when guys get priced out. That's why you got
out in front of your don why you need to
get in front of Hunter Brown or eventually the big
boys come in and now the bidding war.

Speaker 1 (02:36:14):
And most of the time when.

Speaker 5 (02:36:15):
A superstar and the Astros, I know, there's still what
three years of control or whatever it is. But most
of the time, when you're in a bidding war with
the big boys and the astros, the Astros, there's a
line in the in the stone for the Astros, or
there may be a line in the sand for somebody else.
And those guys their wallets just they may not be deeper,
but they're willing to go deeper into it because they
haven't set a hard line like mister Kraneas.

Speaker 1 (02:36:34):
And it's worked here.

Speaker 5 (02:36:35):
The question is how long can it work if it
keeps having sometimes better to get him early than late. Yeah,
well you can revise the core too.

Speaker 1 (02:36:43):
I mean what the core was, what the guys that
we've mentioned, I mean it can now be you know,
one of the guys that's the cornerstone of that, Jeremy
Pania for sure. All right, Sean, I know that the
angrier side of me came out earlier. But when yes
I did at Bill, Yes, I still can't help myself
because there's another county heard from, and this one I

(02:37:06):
think might make me even more anger. You're gonna get
madder at this than you did for dollar bills. It's
a distinct possibility. I'm trying to make it a slow
boil here. Let's go. So we'll do that right here.
Sean Salisbury Show, Sports Talk seven to.

Speaker 5 (02:37:18):
Ninety Country Boys roofing My guy John, honorable and trustworthy.
That's where it starts. Anyone price, goadga. What else would
you want? Then? Great customer service, quality work, and it's
not costing you for you know, three years of paycheck
and a second mortgage to fix your roof and the
shingles on your roof well because of storm hit or

(02:37:38):
because they're old, or you're getting out in front of
it because it's old and you don't want another storm
to hit and put your family in a bad way.
That's where you call Country Boy's Roofing country with the
K Boys, with the Z country Boys Roofing, Countryboysroofing dot Com.
He's got a great team of John Zach Connor and himself.
Country Boy's Roofing is certain certain shingle certified as well

(02:38:01):
as certified installer of Atlas. We know that windstorm certified
as well. Great discounts that I'll mention here really quick,
and you know they're gonna help you navigate the insurance
claims which are switch suck. They are going to go
anywhere in Houston you need him. The job is not
too big or too small for them.

Speaker 1 (02:38:18):
The job is there.

Speaker 5 (02:38:19):
They're going to find it and they're going to find
you and give you great service, customer service for that
full roof. And if you're a first responder, military or educator,
you get one thy five hundred dollars discount on the
full roof. If you're not any of those one thousand
dollars discount on the full roof. And that comes all
the time, that's not all the storm hit. Let's change
that rule. They're not moving goalposts for you. What they
are moving is shingles to get the right ones in

(02:38:41):
at the right price and give you honorable, trustworthy, good
hard work that well, quite frankly good companies do. And
now they're proud members of the Better Business Bureau.

Speaker 1 (02:38:50):
What's not to like?

Speaker 5 (02:38:51):
And John is as affable and as good as there is,
and he will take care of you and his team.
They're doing it right without price gouging. Country Boys with
k Z at the end, the K at the beginning,
Z at the end. It's countryboys roofing dot com. Countryboys
roofing dot com.

Speaker 2 (02:39:11):
Sean Salisbury continues on seven.

Speaker 1 (02:39:13):
Ninety Another county heard from, and this one is somebody
that usually elicits such responses, and it is Colin Cowherd
who basically yesterday on his show said that Jordan Hudson
is helping the UNC program and helping Bill Belichick in

(02:39:34):
terms of not only his visibility but also the program's visibility,
saying that quote, she has taken this role seriously. The
NFL Draft has happened recently, did it not. And in
the NFL Draft, let's see, Ohio State had the most
players taken fourteenth. You're a guy that advises kids, you know,

(02:39:56):
on college process. All of that, you know, maybe even
you go go back to when you are deciding, so
have the mindset here of your recruitment. But also too,
you're a parent taking your child through recruitment. All of
this is going on. Do you necessarily look at that
program at UNC and say, oh, yeah, no, things are
on the straight and air, and not even that like
there's anything nefarious going on. It's not what I'm talking about,

(02:40:19):
but that your son is going to go there and
be developed as a player. More importantly, you would hope,
even though it seems like this fleets by the day
in college sports, academically, they'd have his best interests at
heart all of those different types of things, or that
he wouldn't be micromanaged by a twenty four year old
who doesn't know a damn thing in life.

Speaker 5 (02:40:39):
If you are asking me, is my son or if
I was getting recruited, would I be going to North
Carolina because her presence, yes, the answer is no. I'd
be more apt to wonder what's going on with the
guy that I admired, that ran the show all the time,
and not saying.

Speaker 1 (02:40:54):
She's not a good person.

Speaker 5 (02:40:55):
Like you said, there's anything wrong going on, it's their relationships,
their business. But when their relationships keeps over to the
practice field, and that we would say put it this way,
if she was sixty, I don't think Nick Saban wants
his wife.

Speaker 1 (02:41:09):
She was present, but she wasn't the program, right, that's.

Speaker 5 (02:41:12):
The point present to support that come over for dinner,
we're cooking for the kids, and or show up players.
She's mom to all of us, right, Well, you don't
want these players hugging a twenty four year old all
over the field and the distraction that goes with it.
Number One, that not that his wife isn't they don't
love her, but it's it's it's a different feel, right,

(02:41:33):
And she was present but not overwhelming. So now on
the other side, if you're a family, there's a feeling
of grandma. I don't mean that she's a Graham, you
know what I'm saying, The feeling of when you're going
to school, that your kids are taking care of away
from home.

Speaker 1 (02:41:49):
I don't think that.

Speaker 5 (02:41:51):
Matter of fact, there's nothing about if I'm getting my
kids getting hey, go there.

Speaker 1 (02:41:54):
Bill's got a really stellar and steady and.

Speaker 5 (02:42:00):
Backing there. No, I don't know if it's temporary. I'm
going there for the coach and what kind of academics,
but also what kind of program I going What am
I gonna do?

Speaker 1 (02:42:07):
Offensively? What am I gonna do is quarterback? Who's my coordinator?

Speaker 10 (02:42:09):
She?

Speaker 1 (02:42:10):
What is she helping with?

Speaker 5 (02:42:12):
Lua twenty four recruit that's got eyes for or a
twenty one year old or an eighteen year old kid
that's like, man, she's hot.

Speaker 1 (02:42:17):
I'm gonna stay here. I don't know.

Speaker 5 (02:42:19):
Maybe, but I'm not sure that the mom and the
dad are going to North Carolina because it's she's brought
stability to Bill Belichick. That's the last thing I think
of Bill had stability in it? Is it before I
got there? Okay, that's just my opinion. I hope they're
in love. I know that it's a fantasy where I
mean that kind of I do hope that they that

(02:42:40):
they care about each other, But let's look at the
reality of it. I'm just trying to figure out what
they have in common. Maybe Bill's not as maybe they
have more common than we think, but from a distance
it looks weird. And no no recruits showing up there
because she's there. They may go anyway because Bill, but
they're not showing up because she's a GA or whatever

(02:43:01):
it is, head of ops whatever in football. I don't
know what her title is, Bill's girlfriend, but yeah, matter
of fact, it would turn you off if she became
too helicopteris because you think what happened to the guy
that we knew was that had his hands in every
part of the program.

Speaker 1 (02:43:15):
Ohio State just had fourteen players taken in the draft.
I'd go to Ohio State. Georgia just had thirteen players
taken in the draft. I'd go to Georgia, Texas twelve,
same deal, Ole miss No, maybe not, but they had eight, Alabama, LSU,
Florida seven. So you get my point here, Like there's
numerous different options that are out there. Clemson, Dabo Sweeney,
what he's done all these times, I'm trying to figure

(02:43:36):
out out there. I'm trying to figure out what Colin
Coward's point was. That's I mean, she's she's taking her
job seriously, as he says, all CEOs need somebody like her. Well,
see with some experience. That's bingo, there's one right there.
But it's also too this is more of a benefit
for her than it is for anybody else. She's not
looking out for anybody else. She benefits more from this

(02:43:58):
relationship than Bill Belichick benefits from her. To him, it's just, oh, yeah,
she's really hot. Yeah, that's the way the outside world
looks at it.

Speaker 5 (02:44:06):
And the truth is with her overseeing my program is
sitting there during interviews in helicopter in it is she
is this really an unselfish I want the best for
North Carolina and and Bill?

Speaker 1 (02:44:18):
Or is it what I want the best for me?
And she wants to be in control, right she wants
to you know what it is? Oh, you know he's
that way I can change.

Speaker 5 (02:44:25):
Him or I'm I'm going to prove to him that
I'm in more control than he is in this relationship.

Speaker 1 (02:44:30):
It just seems odd. I hope it works for them.

Speaker 4 (02:44:32):
I do.

Speaker 5 (02:44:33):
I don't know if we'll be having the same conversation
five years from now, but uh, I could tell you
what it feels to me, like she's jumping into every
part of the program and you're not leaving when he's
getting has to see see here on all emails.

Speaker 1 (02:44:45):
That's what I mean? Are you Are you kidding?

Speaker 5 (02:44:50):
She's worse than Jackie used to be this is gonna
be this this, This seems like it's gonna be a
tough thing because at some point in time they're gonna
lose a game and she's gonna try to coach him up,
and that ain't gonna be fun coaching up the guruy.

Speaker 1 (02:45:04):
Yeah, bad idea.

Speaker 8 (02:45:05):
Just my opinion.

Speaker 1 (02:45:07):
This is going to hope it works for him, though
I have my root for it.

Speaker 5 (02:45:10):
Well, there's a lot of doubt. I just hope it works, right,
and say, would I hope it does? Because who doesn't
want people to have peace of mind and be in love?

Speaker 1 (02:45:17):
Dan? Well, we don't. We don't hate people. So hey,
that's okay, Dan, we don't. We don't need hope on
this show. We believe in the Seawan Salisbury show. Right,
It's been a lot of fun for four hours. He's
Shawn Triple, Emmanuel Elmore, Dan Matthews here The Matt Thomas
Show with Ross coming up next. Talk to you in
twenty hours.
