Speaker 1 (00:02):
Soulsby. Okay, let's do this. Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
To usc Troupe's longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Dan Matthewscus, this is the Sean Salisbury Show.

Speaker 4 (00:23):
A pitch timer violation on Delos Santos and that'll bring
a run and his Rice scores and it is three
to one Yankees. Joe A spotted out of the dugout
to talk with Adrian Johnson.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
He can't believe it.

Speaker 4 (00:36):
One ot of Grisham and that is hammer down the
right field line. If it stays fair, it's gone. It's fair,
and it's gone into the second deck. Trent Grisham a
three run homer, and the Yankees lead is eight to three.
Bed Nark comes set at the letters one two swing
and a mess curveball gets him and that is the ballgame.

(01:00):
The New York Yankees hold on to defeat the Astros
eight to four as a Yankees take two out of
three in the series.

Speaker 5 (01:12):
I mean, it's a football Friday, it's a fight song Friday.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
It's all of these things.

Speaker 5 (01:17):
And you just heard Robert Ford telling you the final
details from last night over at dyke In Park. And
with that we say away we go, and good morning.
It just seriously just seems like the old Who song,
Meet the new Boss, same as the old boss, and
especially to Sean when it comes to runners in scoring position,

(01:37):
runners on base, and just overall offensive futility.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Down on the woes, little offensive woes. Out of Friday,
I am on the I am on the woes.

Speaker 5 (01:48):
I mean it went from disdane last night, which I
think there probably is still a little bit of Disdane left,
but I mean I feel like I kind of emptied
the tank on the tenth Inning show.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
And Jay got it out of your sister. I did
some fights on the air maybe no fights, no fight,
no fights.

Speaker 5 (02:04):
As a matter of fact, it was met with man
really appreciate you telling it like it is, and all
was just like, well, no, I appreciate that people loved
your style.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
Dad, that's it. That's it. You know, get me.

Speaker 6 (02:13):
Fired up, because you know I checked out about after
that was it was. It was in football last night,
so watched it. It was you know happens. I wasn't
gonna let a bug me last night.

Speaker 5 (02:24):
Well, I mean at least there wasn't actually no, there
was a second spinner, so there was. Yeah, So McDowell
was in the bushes when it came to Jalen Carter
in in dak Prescott last night.

Speaker 6 (02:34):
But the difference is, let's make let's not try to
throw them in the same category. That feeling when somebody's
way and you kind of look down the ground and
spit down the ground like come get some and then
one walks up and spits in his chests in front
of the red's let's not get out of hand here
when they say it's the exact same thing, it wasn't
anywhere near the same thing. Jalen Carter's an idiot when
it comes to that. The refs right there, it's just stupid. Okay,

(02:55):
what should I say this? It was an idiotic move.
How's that not not exactly the high football IQ for
your best football player? They need to open the season
that even get a snap in a game, and it
showed because the Cowboys moved the football and that game
should have been I mean, the Cowboys couldn't stop for
the most part. The Eagles could do anything they want.
And tell me again, you guys out there and the
why Jalen hurts it, you don't put him in the

(03:16):
top elite category. He makes plays every single time in
big games. Jalen Hurts is a great player. All this not, Well,
he's a game manager good, you know what, I'll bet
you there's teams around the league would love to have
a game manager. So I was all in on that.
The spit thing, first off, it's despicable. So there's nothing
worse other than stealing from a teammate that you can do,

(03:38):
worse than spitting on an opponent. Those are those are
the two things that they'll get you. Well, you'll get
your ass kicked, whether it's Jalen Carter or not. There's
still somebody who can kick his ass too, whether he
thinks so or not. So there's always somebody tougher.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
Right. Well, it just.

Speaker 6 (03:54):
It's such a selfish move. Well it's competitive, no, save it.
That's not competitive. That's just dumb. That's just dumb football.
That's just that's selfish. Look, here's what I'm gonna do,
and I'm gonna get it. You know, if you want
to go over there and talk trash at deck like
we like people did in college, go for it.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
After I understand that part of motion.

Speaker 6 (04:13):
You're in a game, you'll hit somebody late because you work,
you know, on the fly trying to hit somebody at
me and you hit him out of bounds or get a
little extra shoving happens in competition. Spitting, I don't know
what makes a guy think, you know, this is a
perfect time to spit. Or when you see when you're
see in politics or people on the street when they're
mad at somebody for not getting a COVID shot, they
spit on them.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
You know, all that nonsense. It's it's just absurd, right,
which seems like it's counterproductive.

Speaker 6 (04:38):
You think, you think, maybe that's their point, but you
know what I'm saying, you see it. Unfortunately though win
in doubt. Spit on somebody, I mean, who does that?
I'm just telling you now, it doesn't really matter if
the guy's tough. If somebody spits on you, there's no
longer chatter involved, right, Think about that, there's no the
chatter ends. And I understand you're in a game. Dak

(04:59):
Press got you know, spits down kind of antagonized it
and then he spit right on them while the real
officials like a foot away, as if he wasn't going
to see it.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
But for me, there's no all bets are off. You
may tea even if.

Speaker 6 (05:13):
You're the guy who got spin on and you go
out for somebody and you take an ass whooping, Oh
well to me when you spit put it this way,
you want to fight me, find me, look me up
because you don't like one of my takes.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
Find me at heb and spit on me.

Speaker 6 (05:28):
That if you if you don't like me, you want
to induce labor by getting me to get going, just
spit on me. Look me in the face, and spit
on me. And you can be a seven degree black belt.
You can be carrying a glock nine milimeter. I don't care.
When you spit on somebody, all lines are off, there

(05:48):
is no blurd, it's on. And if you end up dead,
oh well, okay. I mean, I'm telling you, dude, I
there's one thing I can't. I just can't. It's just
it's the lowest form a scum in the world. Now,
I don't encourage you to go out and spit on somebody.
I'm just saying it's a I'm kind of using it
to paint a picture that that's how to me, there

(06:09):
can be nothing more despicable and trashy and classless than
doing that.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
Even in a football uniform.

Speaker 6 (06:18):
Yeah, matter of fact, it may be worse because you're
just You're supposed to be some tough guy punk and
you just prove that it's a coward move. And he's
a great player and probably is a tough guy. But
when you do that, realize that's the best way. You
want to get him to spit on me, and I
can assure you there will be no Hey Sean, be patient,
there will be none of that. If it means I
got to spend a night in jail, then we're fighting. Okay,

(06:40):
that's the way if you want to get it me.
I hated you you said about the from or great
spit on me and we can fight. That's the best
other than that, I'm a grown ass man. I'm not
walking it.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 6 (06:51):
Spit and then we can That's the easiest way if
you want to get it me and most I would
think are the same way.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
But there's no longer talk involved. Now.

Speaker 6 (06:59):
Dak Prescott did the right thing by not responding because
he would a get kicked out. But there there, there's
Dak bears a little bit of that responsibility by at
least when they're away, and then he made him walk
over there. But he did look down to spit on
the ground. It wasn't at somebody. It was down, But
I think we knew the meaning of why now guys
spit in uniform in through their helmet all the time.
But maybe it was one because Dak got a little

(07:21):
smirk after he spit down. If you saw spit down like, well,
you won't come get something. And then he went and
spit right on his chest then dropped the gloves. Man,
this is right there, and I won't get in the
middle of anybody fight after somebody got spit on, they
deserve an assholen.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
Where's Dak's offensive line? Though? That was my thing?

Speaker 6 (07:38):
I don't they had to be standing right there listening
right well they were, I mean, but it's I mean
a right guard.

Speaker 5 (07:44):
Somebody as has got to jump in. Here's the only
problem with that in a game uniform. When I was
talking about spit on me in public, and it so
is opening game on the road, young offensive line, Now
you should have stepped in there and said don't spit
on my quarterback and grabbed him. But if you hit
him and take your you know, hit him and cause fight,
then you're getting ejected too. And now you're host even

(08:06):
though your offensive guard's not as good as Jalen Carter.

Speaker 6 (08:09):
That's not a one for one swap. I'm with you.
There's some that says you should what what what are
you doing? And jumped in there and ben the heel
for pres just just to let him know and let
them know, doesn't matter if I got to get It's
like a pitcher who has to get kicked out of
a game to retaliate because somebody hit your star after homering.
So I uh, you got to be paying that. But
in real life, I just what happens if those two

(08:33):
are sitting in a bar and that happens. Oh, I
mean you gotta believe somebody's throwing a punch.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
It, thank you. That's exactly right. Well, I don't encourage it,
but I got to do.

Speaker 6 (08:41):
So if youre getting spit on and you don't, then
you and I aren't cut from the same cloth.

Speaker 5 (08:45):
More often than that, I've told you my theory on fights,
Like if somebody does that to you, I mean, if
they really want to start something, then they're gonna they're
gonna punch you. So in that case, still a punch
because that guy, that guy really doesn't want me.

Speaker 6 (08:58):
I'd rather have you walk up to me and punch
me in the face, then spit on me.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
Respect wise, at least I know you. Now.

Speaker 6 (09:06):
You may be a cheap shot. Now if I turn
my back and you hit me from behind, different story.
But you want to walk up like when you see
hockey fights, a great thing about them. They'll tap you
on the shoulder and let you turn around. Then they'll
fight you and then they'll get after it. And okay,
then you got your tooth doct out. I got mine, great,
No problem, no problem. I just assume you punched me

(09:26):
in the face and then it's on. Oh okay, damn.
If you knock me out, well then good on you.
But if you don't, then you may still get me.
But I'm gonna get a few in I know that.
But if you spit, the conversation's over. It doesn't end
any and I don't know how it's going to end
in the fight which finds j and Carr is probably
not a wise idea, But I'm not real smart when
it comes to that, because when you see red, I

(09:47):
just I don't shine, No, I just that's hell, that's
my that's my uh, your red line.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
There is, it's and it's etched in stone. Brother, there is,
there is. You know I'm not moving a goalpost for that.
I'm just not. I'm not.

Speaker 6 (10:05):
So anybody doesn't like me, that's the best way to
get me. I'm sure there's plenty of them that wanted to.
But if you want to, then that that's that's that's
how Sean. I can't stand that you picked the Eagles
to beat the Cowboys last night.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
Well spin on me and then we can have the
conversation after the fights.

Speaker 7 (10:20):
Do so.

Speaker 6 (10:21):
But I just and Jaylen Carter, you just got to
think why it'd be wiser because it did.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
Dude.

Speaker 6 (10:28):
That was He's as good a football player as there
is on the field. He's not exactly a smart decision
maker in pregame, but he's one hell of a player.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
And it showed.

Speaker 6 (10:39):
The Cowboys moved the football pretty good and early on
nobody could get a stop. I was at That's the
biggest shock at the game too. Cowboys offensive line played
pretty decent football and the Philadelphia Eagles defense. If Jalen
Carter is that important, I mean to the point where
you you the Cowboys have their way and can make
some things happen. Now it ended up. Their defense settled
in and did all that. But Philadelphie's got some things

(11:02):
to get done. But they had a few guys banged up.
So Philadelphie's a better team.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
But the Cowboys are gonna score some points this year
as long as that offensive line holds up well.

Speaker 5 (11:09):
And I know that a lot of people are blaming
CD Lamb for that final play.

Speaker 6 (11:13):
He dropped three late one dive. That's a tough one,
the diving, say, the other two he's got to make.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
That's the one.

Speaker 5 (11:19):
Like when I saw people getting on him, I'm like,
he left the feet and I mean, yes, he is
an NFL receiver.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
He is one of the best.

Speaker 5 (11:26):
Receivers in the leach Most of the time, I think, sure,
we make that catch. But it's like also though too,
It's like, you know, a little responsibility on the quarterback too.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
Yeah, don't make him dive.

Speaker 6 (11:37):
But the other two, you know, I dropped a deep one,
dropped another one and hit him in a hands he
he uh, it was rough. He won't leave many on
the ground. But unfortunately, kind of like leaving runners in
the scoring position, hm, you left it on the table.

Speaker 5 (11:50):
I was gonna say, I mean, do you feel like
maybe Taylor Tremmell got spit on by Aaron Boone with
them Hey check that bat? You know it might be
shaved down. And I love Tremmel after the game because,
like I said, I did the tenth inning last night
and he was like shaving down the bat. He's like,
I don't even know how to do that, Like like
what does that even mean?

Speaker 6 (12:08):
Well, it's just isn't that the Isn't that the Aaron
Boone way though? To just get your goat a little antagon.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
Try to work the umpires?

Speaker 6 (12:17):
Yeah, yeah, all doubt, Yeah, there was no doubt if
that get kicked out.

Speaker 5 (12:22):
Well, I mean, you know, according to the Yankees too,
had they lost that game last night, than it would
have been because of the Ryan McMahon, which it should
have been a line drive out, but it wasn't.

Speaker 8 (12:34):
That.

Speaker 1 (12:34):
That's the way it would have been.

Speaker 5 (12:36):
Like I gotta tell you, since twenty twenty, I don't
think there's been a more disappointing fan base or organization
than that organization, The organization who should be above all
that kind of stuff. And then you got some real
you know what's to try to chide somebody else about
cheating when you guys were probably one of the most
forefront and foremost teams when it came to the performance

(12:59):
and hand some drugs.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
For years, You're talking about how caddy the Yankees are.

Speaker 5 (13:03):
It's just that, I mean, just everything, everything's a personal
affront to them, like it's just.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
Just play baseball, just play baseball.

Speaker 6 (13:11):
There, you know who they are, the Yankees who I have.
And you know how much I love Aaron Judge. I do,
and I think you do too. We talked about the respect.

Speaker 5 (13:19):
Twenty five of them. I can deal without them, but
but Aaron Judge I can deal with.

Speaker 6 (13:25):
They are the frivolous lawsuit team. Oh, if you're like
a human, you know the person that that spills coffee
on their lap on purpose to assume you know that
the suit the fast food place that serves hot coffee olipped.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
On the grape. Oh my god, my, oh, oh my god.

Speaker 6 (13:39):
I want hot coffee and four big backs. Oh the
hot coffee burned my mouth. I'msuing you who you asked
for hot coffee? Did you put a temp on it?
Or that frivolous lawsuit that walk through and slams on
the brakes on perpse.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
You know, you know what I'm talking about.

Speaker 5 (13:54):
The Yankees are the frivolous lawsuit perpetual victims.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
Oh they are. I confess he did it. Oh it
only had to be them.

Speaker 6 (14:03):
And all the while they're setting back saying, man, we're
trying to fool the world. That that's what they are
there that what dude, you can't your kid skinned his
knee at school, falling down playing like a kid does,
and you want to sue the school because they let
him jog across the playground. I mean, that's who they are. Are,
always looking for something right always, and one thing they

(14:25):
haven't had in a while as the World Series win.
So I'm sure that bothers him too. Well, there is
that they took care of business last night. Yeah they did, Yeah,
they absolutely did. You know they beat the Astros eight
to four. The Stros load the bases in the ninth inning,
Carlos Korea strikes out and then Christian Walker strikes out.

Speaker 1 (14:43):
Yeah yeah, I mean and down Walker, my dog. Dude.

Speaker 5 (14:50):
Just the disdain Dan here, here, here, it comes, here,
it comes. I'm telling you, like you know, a pot,
a watch pot never boils. Well, you know, for a second,
there we weren't watching the pot and it's boiling because
it is going to be a bubbling here.

Speaker 6 (15:07):
And we will get into a little ex so longer
where you're watching the pote. Sure does take a while
for that's all. It seems like that talk. Dam Yeah,
here your pasta.

Speaker 5 (15:14):
I was gonna say the pasta. That's that's mostly what
I'm what I'm boiling for. But we'll get into the astros.
And of course it is a fight song Friday. It
is a football Friday, so there will be a lot
of Texans in NFL. And I mean there's not much
on the college scene this weekend, but anything there may
be is we can get into. But the number to
get in seven one three two one two five seven
ninety against seven one three two one two five seven

(15:37):
ninety And yep, disdained Dan.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
Like I said, they did it again. We'll talk about
it here.

Speaker 5 (15:42):
It is the Sean Salisbury Show on a Friday, Sports
Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 9 (15:48):
Back to town, bring the juice, let's go.

Speaker 1 (15:53):
The Sean Salsbury Show continues.

Speaker 10 (15:56):
I was definitely on Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (16:10):
All right, maybe that will help cut into the Disney.
Maybe just a little bit of bits.

Speaker 5 (16:15):
It is a Sean Salisbury show Sports Talk seven ninety
on a fight song Friday.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
I can't help what can I say?

Speaker 5 (16:21):
College marching bands are something that will make me feel
a little bit better.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
So triple e, thank you for that. You get bricked up.
You're a little bricked up with college, not bricked up,
per se. I mean kind, I mean in no uncertain terms. Yeah,
I mean ill energy.

Speaker 5 (16:36):
It gives me energy, It boosts the mood, It puts
me in a great mood.

Speaker 1 (16:44):
All that tremendous.

Speaker 6 (16:46):
I mean, I didn't have one ance of disdain and
Dan and me today about the ass I'm gonna I'm
gonna buy it at the Light is a long season.

Speaker 5 (16:54):
Right, Yeah, it's just one of those stretches, you know. Yeah,
it's based all baseball.

Speaker 1 (17:02):
It did. It's a long season.

Speaker 5 (17:03):
See, I was almost out of it and then of course,
you know, the music stops. So hey, no now now
now I'm snapped back in the place.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
Listen.

Speaker 6 (17:13):
People get tired. Dan gott to rest them. Sometimes I
think Jordan doesn't need any rest, has it? He got
eight hits that I just can't say.

Speaker 5 (17:21):
I mean, where my god, where would you be without
Jordan Alvarez right now.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
Seriously, Hey Dan, maybe you need to sit him down.

Speaker 5 (17:31):
You ain't sitting him down, all right, I personally it's real. No, No,
not right now, not not where you're at, not when
you're three and a half games up and only five
games in front of the Rangers at this point.

Speaker 1 (17:45):
No, no, you're not playing, are you. I am no
bull driving, No, there is no now.

Speaker 5 (17:52):
I I will I will say somebody that I'd be
willing to listen to here in just a second. But
the Shrows do lose last night eight to four. Cowboys
lose to the Eagles on the opening night of the
NFL season twenty four to twenty.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
But the one I am willing to listen to jose
Al Tuve.

Speaker 5 (18:12):
I mean, it's it's unbelievable right now, just how rough
he has been in that three hole in this lineup
right now.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
See, he's a non factor. And it sucks to say that,
it really does. But you're down on Joel Tuve one
hundred percent, one hundred percent right now. I am.

Speaker 5 (18:33):
And he's not the only one. I mean, I said
that last night. I don't need to hear from Christian
Javier after that game. I don't need to hear from
anyone else. I need to hear from a guy that
you're supposed to count on that is now two for
his last nineteen and then Christian Walker, who I believe
is one for his last twenty yeaterdas the same deal

(18:53):
he had to double the other night. All right, fine,
that's that's all good and fine, But guys that you're
supposed to be count on three through six right now,
Three of those guys absolute non factors for you right now.

Speaker 6 (19:05):
So you're saying Dana wasn't playing when he said the
other day that Jordan's here, I mean, he's gonna make
it go. The problem is he's doing his thing. And
my question to him was, well, what if Jordan's raking
but the rest of the guys played the same inconsistent basement, Well,
everybody will get better.

Speaker 1 (19:26):
And that should be the case, right.

Speaker 6 (19:27):
I mean, you think the collateral part of having him
in the lineup and seeing pitches and all that. We
saw it in the first game when he came for
Christian Walker pitcher, you know, pinch hitter, boom, come around,
get a different picture, boom and Christian Walker does his thing.
So with that, they you're gonna need this. Listen, the

(19:49):
stars we're gonna have to play well. They you just
at this time, you just have to. And one of
those is Altuve. He needs to go on a run.
He absolutely has to go on a run, right, Yes,
if he doesn't forty four, can't, can't.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
Can't just be the guy who keeps halving to Rake
every single day? Fair, No, there's just they're not good
enough to overcome seven guys hitting the average at a
certain period of time, even with the big man Raking
in a lineup. So I'm with you.

Speaker 6 (20:18):
I understand your frustration only for Walker, for runners in
squaring position, and for al Tuvey, who's just as capable as.

Speaker 1 (20:24):
Going on one of those runs. But it needs to happen,
especially now.

Speaker 5 (20:27):
I mean, and it's and it is much more than
just those guys, but I mean, it's just the entire lineup, Sean,
It's the same thing every single night. This is the
easiest team in baseball to pitch too. It's not even close.
You throw him a pitch on the outside corner, you're
going to beat him. It really is that simple.

Speaker 7 (20:43):
Now.

Speaker 5 (20:43):
Carlos Carel last night, the double he had to lead
off the second inning, As soon as I saw that,
I was like, okay, like that, that's what you're supposed
to do. But instead, Hey, you know what, I really
got to be able to pull this baseball up. There's
another bouncer to third base. It's the same thing every
single game. Like you, honestly are beyond and scene at

(21:05):
this point. If you think that this is going to
change and that this team is going to magically get
hot and that they're going to be able to put
together four or five wins in a row, I'm not
even sure they can put together three wins in a
row right now with how just awfully inconsistent that group is.
And it's beyond frustrating at this point because one group,

(21:25):
like the pitching last night, I get that, and people
brought that.

Speaker 1 (21:27):
Up to me.

Speaker 5 (21:28):
Danny gave up eight runs. Hey, that's not lost on me.
Kaylo Board had a rough night. But you know what, Kayla,
Board's also been for you, somebody that has stepped up
and been nails for you the last few games that
he's come in.

Speaker 6 (21:39):
He's been pretty damn good a majority of the time
he's been hanging around this season. Correct, Yes, I mean
he's been He's been a great. Put it this way,
when you think of his name pops up when you
talk about people you need. You know, when we talk
about King and or those are guys that have had
to end have for the majority already this season, done

(22:01):
their job, and sometimes you do run into that. But
those are the nights somebody else has to pick you
up at the plate. Correct it is?

Speaker 5 (22:10):
Yeah, And that's why after the game, when Joe A.
Spot is up there, all you know, I liked our fight.
Your fan base is tired of hearing it, Joe Like.
I got to be honest, and I'm one of your
biggest fans. They're tired of hearing that from.

Speaker 6 (22:20):
You, and I you know, I know you're just disdained
for this, but I also know your affection for Joe Spot.
I mean, good good man, good man, right, but still
got to criticize when it's necessary. Here's the thing that
bothers me when when you say that, what does that?
What does fight mean? What does that mean you'll beat
eight four? What does the fight mean?

Speaker 1 (22:41):
Do you do you scored a couple of runs and
had a chance to win. Grind for you?

Speaker 6 (22:45):
I just for me fight. Whenever I hear that, are
you telling me. Then at times they don't. That's what
I'm not just here. But I hear it all you
know in the football you hear it on shows all
the time. Hey man, they fought and competed. You get
paid to fight and compete. That that should not be
the outlier. That's the norm. That's your job. So you're
telling me when you're down four to one, or you're
down four to two, or at seven to two or

(23:07):
eight to three, that we're supposed to just man, I'm
just going to tell you what I don't ever do.
I told you I don't ever coach effort. I'd like
to teach my players or kids when they're doing it
to know what the ramifications of not giving effort are.
But when you get to a grown adult and you're
in a college locker room or in a high school,
college or NFL locker room, if I got to teach

(23:28):
you effort, we're in trouble. If I'm coaching effort, we
got too many other things to coach. To coach your effort,
that's a you thing. That's a DNA deal. Okay, you
do that, and the other side is not just that,
not just coaching effort. But if I got to coach
competitiveness when my team's down. If you told the guy

(23:48):
who listen, I'm taking your paycheck back. If I see
any loafer you don't play hard, you'll never have to worry.
But that's the way that there should be the built
in rule. Now, we all have our lapses in man,
don't take that playoff or you know, you get caught mind,
you're you're down and your mind's wandering, your wife's about
to have a baby, or you get the point right,
you're in a slump and you're grinding too hard, squeezing

(24:09):
the sawdust out of the bat. I get all that,
but I never why why would I give a team
credit for playing hard? Then, I'm being honest, a grown man.

Speaker 1 (24:17):
Why why would I You shouldn't am I supposed to
give my You're in the middle of a pennant push,
So that to me, that's like saying, hey man, I
give a person credit for showing up on time to work.

Speaker 6 (24:28):
Now, some out there that I've seen think it's like that.
To show up for work is kind of you're you're
putting workers and you shouldn't expect them to be on time.
You know, you see those news reports, what when when
did that change that? That has nothing to do with
Boomer and gen Z egetics. That's called a lifelong lesson.
Show your ass up on time. Okay, show you not

(24:49):
seventeen minutes late. Show up on time when before the
dollors close it, you know, ten o'clock at night or
one o'clock in the morning or eight in the morning,
whatever it is, Show up on time and playing hard.
It falls under that same category competing. Hey, we what
do you?

Speaker 1 (25:06):
What do you say? He called it we fought?

Speaker 5 (25:09):
I don't know at this stage of the season, do
I really have to pat my guys on the back
for fight in any building?

Speaker 1 (25:16):
See?

Speaker 6 (25:16):
To me, that's just a fill And I love Joe,
that's a fill. Word, that's a fill where where we
got beat. We're trying to be mister congeniality, but you're not.
You're not the hottest girl in the building. You're the
hottest guy in the build.

Speaker 1 (25:30):
Mister.

Speaker 6 (25:31):
It's well, we fought, that's the go to. We gave
it our best effort. Tried you right, well, great paut
of the back.

Speaker 1 (25:39):
You tried.

Speaker 6 (25:40):
Listen, there's a lot of people who try and get
an ass whoop, and there's a lot of people who
try in an interview and don't get the interview. Why
they weren't any good at it. We had somebody else.
It's a numbers game. We hear that in sports all
the time. But personal to me, I'm sorry to tell
you I'm not giving any grown man that makes that
kind of money or the truth matters. If it was
five thousand dollars, if you signed up for it, you
go do it. You show up on time, and you
play hard. I'm not giving you any effort for fight.

(26:04):
I'm not giving it.

Speaker 1 (26:05):
Now.

Speaker 6 (26:05):
You blow out your hamstring and you tape it up
and wrap it up, and you're trying to fight through
it and you're still playing. Different story that. That's the
outlier I'm talking about. Hey man, it's any seven and
we're fighting. Well, you're in a playoff race, you're getting
your ass kicked in the game in the eighth any way,
You're damn right, you're fighting.

Speaker 1 (26:24):
I'd hope so.

Speaker 11 (26:26):
So.

Speaker 5 (26:26):
I don't for competing and fighting, don't. I don't give
I don't give players extra credit for that. That's the norm.
That's the regular grading scale. You don't get an A
plus because you fought harder when we were losing. Nah,
not here, not anywhere. I don't ever do it. And
I think if you've got to coach that you're left behind.
If I'm coaching your effort and your fight, we ain't going.

(26:47):
This team won't win it. If that's the case.

Speaker 6 (26:49):
If that's really the case, that I got to coach
fight and credit them for fighting getting after it at
this stage, Nah, can't do it.

Speaker 1 (26:57):
Man.

Speaker 6 (26:57):
If I got to do that motivational and getting them going,
but that's on them.

Speaker 5 (27:02):
I'm not giving one person credit for hanging in there
and fighting. I think there's something else that adds to
the frustration, and we can talk about it if you
want to get in someone three two and two five
seven ninety against someone three two and two five seven
ninety Sean Salisbury show Fight Song Friday here on the
program Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 6 (27:18):
Hey, guys, DNM Leasing just delivered a truck to a
customer who had listened to D and M for more
than twenty five years.

Speaker 1 (27:25):
That's two and a half decades.

Speaker 6 (27:26):
Obviously, he believed leasing was just renting a car, something
he only did if you couldn't afford to buy. But
that changed when the relationship and the dealership obviously offered
him an eighty four month loan. He knew he'd trade
the truck in in a few years, and he knew
he'd end up upside down owing more than it was worth.

(27:47):
That's when he remembered the commercial in them, the DNM
leasing commercials ever seen a Texas title? And when you
trade in a long finance contract, the only thing you
own is negative equity. Remember that commercial? So he called
DNM leasing. He showed them, and they showed him. Leasing
isn't about what you can afford. It's simply the smarter

(28:08):
way most people pay for their vehicles. Pretty simple, right,
Leasing isn't renting, it's smarter. Dial seven one three two
nine zero one thousand. That's seven one three two nine
zero one thousand. You can visit them also at dmauto
leasing dot com. I'll say this to my guys, and
they do unbelievable customer service. They delivered my vehicle as

(28:32):
an influencer for them, delivered my vehicle to my home yesterday,
and that black tahoe with the black wheels is off.

Speaker 5 (28:37):
The friggin charts. Thank you. You guys can get that too.
D and M Auto Leasing, dmauto Leasing dot com leasing
ain't written.

Speaker 3 (28:50):
The Sean Salisbury Show continues.

Speaker 5 (29:40):
Sewn Salisbury Show Sports Talk has seven ninety astros eight
to four losers last night to the Yankees. Jake Myers,
though expected to be back in the lineup over the weekend,
at least expected to join the club in Arlington after
a headh last night for Sugarland and the Texans. I'm
gonna get ready for the Rams on Sunday in La.

(30:02):
Seven one three two one two five seven ninety the
number to get in, Sean.

Speaker 1 (30:06):
The frustration that I have is.

Speaker 5 (30:09):
People throw out accountability all the time, and like, you know,
I had a guy last night.

Speaker 1 (30:14):
Here's what I'd say to Christian Walker.

Speaker 5 (30:15):
Well, first of all, Christian Walker knows that he's struggling.
You don't need to believe with the point on that,
but it is facts are facts. The guy was brought here,
paid sixty million dollars over three years to be able
to not strike out with the runners on every single
base and lose a ballgame. And it seems like it
happens time and time again with this guy, and it's

(30:37):
just like, dude, soon enough, you've got to live up
to what you were brought here.

Speaker 1 (30:41):
To do. You have to do it.

Speaker 5 (30:44):
I think the frustration that I have is where's the emotion,
like break a damn bat, throw a helmet, do something
to show me that you're just not going through the
motions every single day, because it really just comes across like, oh,
we got this, so it's fine. And maybe they do.
That's fine, and in the past they have been able

(31:05):
to show that they can get out of this. But Sean,
this has been an ongoing thing for not only this season,
but last season as well. You know what, I'd venture
to say that probably amongst the division leaders, this team
is the worst offense of all of them that are out.

Speaker 6 (31:18):
There, you know, the fire things. Sometimes body language can
be misleading and sometimes it's spot on, you know. But
also I'm a guy who'd like to see it as well.
I'm trying not to just like, Okay, they handle it different,
but in truth, what do you think about over the
last couple three years or so.

Speaker 1 (31:37):
When it comes to like.

Speaker 6 (31:40):
And it's good we tell people don't get too high
too low, you know the same cliche. Sometimes you need
to get run out of a game. As a manager,
sometimes you need to step off the mound and take
a look at the hitter who you know is talking
trashy or slow walking a home run, and you know,
follow them down to first basew you know, those kind
of things you do.

Speaker 1 (31:58):
It's just part of the game.

Speaker 6 (32:00):
But as a whole team, they are if you wanted
calm and that's what you were looking for. When when's
the last time a player was run on this team?

Speaker 1 (32:17):
I can't remember. I'm trying to think.

Speaker 6 (32:20):
I mean over balls and strikes, turned around and dropped
the helmet and said, no, no, no, not today.

Speaker 1 (32:23):
I tried. He tried.

Speaker 5 (32:26):
I mean I in truth, when you think about it,
I think about you know, you see highlights on other
teams and you're watch another team play. When it comes
to that jump through the roof, showing emotions at all,
it works for them because they don't show much of it.
I can remember they they showed a whole kinds of
emotion when they were early on. I mean that stuff

(32:48):
in the dugout, whether you call it swagger, you know,
they it's I don't know if people wanted it toned
down or you're a little mature and get older. But
this team over the last few years productive as hell.
Obviously one of the best we've seen in baseball for
the last decade, nine years, whatever it's been.

Speaker 6 (33:05):
But you are right. I've said, you're trying to think
the red ass approach. Right, they win, So I got okay,
But if we're looking for it, I did this is
this is not a team. This ain't the Detroit Pistons
when they were playing the New York next to the
Chicago Bulls.

Speaker 1 (33:23):
Right. And I don't mean dirty play.

Speaker 6 (33:24):
I'm talking about just physical the the oh man, you
got me, I'm jumping up. I'm going to elbow the
guy under the you know, the low block type of thing.
They're productive. They don't show a lot of when things
when things are going sideways of yet we're saying that,
you know the emotion. Yet we're saying it. The one
thing we want is a guy like from to be

(33:45):
less emotional. So I get every now and then when
things are going like go, get run, get kicked out,
I get it. Yeah, you're you're spot on. Then the
question is does it make you a better team. Are
they built that way or are they just built to
be calm all the time with players and everybody stays
settled down and we expect to play well. We expect
to win. I get it every now and then. I
want a guy to be just a royal prick and

(34:07):
get run or a play I do. I'm with you,
but that may just be my emotion of wearing it
on a sleeve too. It's like shot because I feel
like I'd be more Bobby Cox than Joe a spot
of when it comes to uh or more. Honestly, I'd
probably between Aaron Boone and and Joe Spotted that I
get run too many times on times I probably should

(34:28):
didn't need to, but that's just me.

Speaker 1 (34:30):
The pitch timer violation.

Speaker 5 (34:32):
He should have come on glued right, he should have
come unglued right.

Speaker 6 (34:35):
This is I've come to the conclusion that this team
is just not about that. They're about winning. But I
don't if you're looking for that, that that that fire,
that visible fire in their belly like that, I don't think,
and that's not a bad thing. They're probably I mean,
they win, but I know it's a frustration for the
fans because every now and then at home, people are

(34:57):
throwing remotes against the wall thinking I would somebody give
me the same emotion I get that I do.

Speaker 1 (35:02):
Whether it's right or wrong.

Speaker 6 (35:03):
I don't you know again, I want from her to say, dude,
don't let us see you sweat. I don't want to
just stay calm all the time, do your thing. And
then on the other side you say, yeah, man on
that thing, pop up out of those dugout steps and
go get yourself runt out of this game, just once, please.
But there's just a different approach by them, and it's
not going to sit well, especially when you're going through

(35:25):
the frustration that fans are going through at home and
you feel hopeless or helpless at home because you're in
your hands, aren't on the game, you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (35:31):
So I both ways.

Speaker 6 (35:33):
I'm a guy who, in certain situations you'd say, why
an't you more emotion? I'm calm, but there are times
when the little things will drive me crazy in baseball.
Like you said the pitchclock, I probably, if I was
probably would have got run just because those say It's like,
little things in my life drive me far crazier than
the big things, to the point where most of you
are like, well why is that bug? Yeah, the big things,

(35:54):
the big things really never bothered me. So I get
I'm with you one hundred percent because I've said it
a million times. Is anybody gonna turn on this picture
and say you've hit three batters now and you're gonna
or is anybody gonna get on the ump and say
not just from the dugout, dude chest to chest, turn
the hat around and run me. You know, I get
that player, or man, I get it.

Speaker 5 (36:15):
Maybe it's it's not viable for true to sustain success,
but I still want it.

Speaker 1 (36:21):
So I'm with you on that.

Speaker 5 (36:22):
Well, I mean, and again to the accountability thing that
we can continue talking about, because I mean, I've said
it numerous times. It just doesn't feel like you're hearing
this enough from the guys you need to hear it
from and we'll discuss that. It is Sean Salisbury Show
on a fight song Friday, Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (36:41):
This Sean Salisbury Show continues to.

Speaker 12 (36:44):
Continue Sean Salisbury Show, Fight Song up Friday.

Speaker 5 (37:18):
Here, It's a football weekend, both college and NFL. But
the Astros lose last night eight four to The Yankees
dropped that series. Now it's the Rangers up in North Texas.
Texan's gonna get ready for the Rams on Sunday out
in LA and the Eagles open up the NFL season
with a twenty four twenty win over the Cowboys. All Right,

(37:40):
I was talking about the accountability part of it all,
and I mentioned last night on Twitter that I said,
I don't need to hear from a pitcher. I don't
even really even need to hear from the manager because
I knew exactly what we're gonna get from the manager.
All stuff was good, All of that just ran in
a little bit of trouble. You know, we fought hard. Oh,
it's just one of those. Just trust me. We've heard

(38:01):
it all and I get it. He's the guy who
has to speak every single day. Not a single hitter
in this lineup not named Jordan Alvarez should not have
been readily available in front of their locker after last
night's loss, not a single one. That to me, is
ducking accountability if you're not. And I understand people are
gonna say, well, they've got stuff to do after the game,

(38:22):
and you know, there's there's there's treatment, there's all these
different things. It can wait. It can wait because your
fan base wants to hear from you. Christian Walker, you
strike out, the base is loaded, to lose the game,
you're the tying run at the plate. Your fan base
wants to hear. I got to come through in those spots.
I got to find a way to keep this thing going.
I've got to find a way to be able to
give us a chance to win a ballgame, and I have.

Speaker 1 (38:42):
Not done that lately. Why were they not available? I
have no clue to the explanation. I don't have one
because I wasn't in there.

Speaker 6 (38:49):
Would they have been available if you if you come
from behind and win that game ninety eight? I mean,
I can't can't tell you for certain, but I just
know that I'm asking. I don't know just when when
you have been a woefully underperforming group who does the
same thing every night, the same thing, pitcher that throws

(39:11):
a sweeper slider on the outside, You're gonna have a
field day against this team because they're not gonna take
you the opposite way. They're not going to do anything
to be able to move a runner over.

Speaker 5 (39:20):
Space City Sports on Twitter, I love one of the
tweets you had last night after Grisham it's the three
run homer. That must be nice to have somebody on
your team that could hit a three run homer, because
what was the last what was the last real big
extra base hit we saw out of this team up
until Monday's game that they won eight to three.

Speaker 1 (39:36):
They didn't have one for nine straight games.

Speaker 6 (39:40):
You're talking about the hit when it mattered, right, So,
I mean, like it's just it's maddening.

Speaker 1 (39:46):
It really is.

Speaker 5 (39:47):
It really is because guess what, you know, anybody that's
ever been through a breakup and you realize, hey, you
know things didn't work out, So what do you do
to try to get better from it?

Speaker 1 (39:58):
You try to learn from it? Right, this is you
keep asking her out and texted her. But this is
this is that's that's what they're doing. That's one hundred
percent what they're doing. Right, I'm not the problem. Then
your phone turns a different color and you've texted four
other times and nobody's picking it up. It's like, get
the hint, dude, Yeah what they do? It's like there's

(40:18):
an yeah, I mean, you know what a huge spot.
And they didn't see that, Dan, I didn't see the
three hundred text.

Speaker 5 (40:25):
But the runner runner, the runners on the corners and
less than two outs, we're going six to four to three, dog,
I mean, how many times can you see I've tried
to add a little light, dude, because I'm so pissed
at it too. I'd so Friday, they can't get me
today for you, they can't get me today, good for you. Yeah,
I'm not letting them get me today. I'm just not.

(40:45):
I'm not. I'm not letting them get me today. But
I saw football last night.

Speaker 1 (40:48):
I got to talk about a spittle I got some
spittle talk with jay let Carter was full. That was hoktua.
Yeah that that let's bring her back or when you
need her. Okay.

Speaker 6 (41:02):
Now, if he'd done that in his own hand and
been a hawk too, I had cried laughing the Jalen
Carter would have done that. Otherwise he spit on his
chest and then them fight words. But they're not getting
me today, Dan, I went to bed last night.

Speaker 1 (41:13):
I did.

Speaker 6 (41:13):
I went to bed last night. So I just wanted
you to let you know that. But I was, you know, up,
just started going online looking at some Peter bal Art
clothes online that your football games getting late and you
know the delay and in the baseball game, and I'm like,
they're not getting me, brother, not today, son. It's Friday,
first or second week into the football team. But post
Labor Day.

Speaker 11 (41:33):
You know.

Speaker 1 (41:34):
Now we're in the throes of it, NFL week. They
ain't get me. The cribs ready to go for the week.
And no, you don't get to get me cause I
didn't really get to celebrate.

Speaker 5 (41:41):
The way I want you last week because I was celebrating.

Speaker 1 (41:43):
With my son in Los Angeles. Right, Yeah, so I
know they're not getting me.

Speaker 6 (41:48):
They're six to four to three and getting me pop
ups the first base on a on a on on
a sweeper on the outer half and he's not on
the outer half on it, maybe about four inches off
the You're not getting me the rollover. Listen, I'm leaning
on your Dan's four last night, even in a loss.
But they listen, I just want you to understand something

(42:09):
which you just don't quite understand.

Speaker 1 (42:11):
Dan. They learned me something. They fought. Oh god, they
are they fought last night. Listen. It's baseball. We have
remember back in the hockey and the grind.

Speaker 6 (42:25):
Yeah, but no, remember about twelve years ago, ta what
the last time we had hockey maybe it was even
more than that, fifteen years where we had win lost.
There was like a fourth column for like tie, you
got points for tyet and I mean, it was like
five con it's a winner loss And I hate ties
in football, so we should not have ties in any sport.
You play it till you win it, forget it to
tie it screw ties. But when when loss? We got

(42:49):
a new category D in baseball, it's win loss tried
hard category. We get points for showing up and trying hard.

Speaker 5 (42:58):
It's it's every single time it's a flyout to the
warning track. Oh he just missed it. How many times
does this team have to just miss it? Seriously? How
many times? What would you love more right now?

Speaker 6 (43:10):
Being serious, a two run blast to win a game
in Toronto, or a you may lose a game but
all of a sudden you see so much fire in
the belly. Two players get run and a manager gets
run on a bad balls and strikes that they're just
fed up. Would you sacrifice a win to see it?
Or do you need to see the two run job

(43:31):
first run you do execution? You'd like to see both
in the game, though, that's what you'd like.

Speaker 1 (43:37):
I mean, yeah, it would be nice, but dan, show
show that you have a pulse.

Speaker 5 (43:41):
See I'm not letting you get that. They're not getting
me today. Good for you man getting me today because
they're getting me.

Speaker 1 (43:48):
Right now. You're in the tank.

Speaker 6 (43:50):
It's not effecting your injury, but you're in the tank
right now. They've they've tugged on your emotions and you've
allowed them to get into.

Speaker 5 (43:56):
Your It's the only thing me alive right now, man,
it really is. It's the only the disdain is what
is fueling me.

Speaker 6 (44:03):
So even if you're running on fumes, disdains carrying you through. Okay,
now now that I feel, Yeah, But what I like
is you're playing hard.

Speaker 1 (44:10):
That's it.

Speaker 5 (44:11):
Like them, Well, at least I'm hoping, hopefully I'm coming
through with with runners and scoring position.

Speaker 6 (44:16):
You can hit a gapper. You just hit a gapper
and you had a chance and you legged it out
for a three bagger. All right, Well, it gives you
a chance. Appreciate that. I at least want a chance.
That's all I want.

Speaker 1 (44:28):
That's it.

Speaker 6 (44:29):
You just want to fight and chance, that's it. Keep fighting, dah.
I'm grinding for you. Yeah, well, good, I appreciate it.
If if you don't have my back, I don't know
who else want.

Speaker 1 (44:39):
There's no call that can make me mad today at
the ASTRO, I'm not you're not doing it. Too excited
to wake up and got bloody. Get it going of
a little bloody married tomorrow morning, Cigar in the middle
of the day.

Speaker 6 (44:50):
Get ready for the Texans and the Rams the next day. Dude,
you can't get me.

Speaker 1 (44:54):
You just can't.

Speaker 5 (44:55):
For you good, hang in there. Disdain that that that disposition.
I I I I do appreciate Rogers.

Speaker 1 (45:01):
See you right there? You want join Hey, Roger real quick.

Speaker 6 (45:03):
We'll get you involved in the conversation here at seven o'clock.

Salisbury Show.

Speaker 1 (45:11):

Speaker 9 (45:17):
And the Rocket Sports Talk seven ninety your home for
your home teams.

Speaker 13 (45:23):
From the Parsons that Matchine Next Studios Houston.

Speaker 1 (45:34):
Okay, let's do this. Sewn Salisbury.

Speaker 2 (45:39):
To USC Troupes, longtime friend Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 3 (45:42):
Dan Matthews, ujesus, this is the Seawan Salisbury Show.

Speaker 6 (45:51):
I gotta tell you, Daniel, book them, Dane. You know
all about Hawaifi. Of course, I'll tell you watch that.

Speaker 1 (45:57):
When I say book them, Dane, you know exactly what
I'm talking about.

Speaker 5 (45:59):
I had an uncle of mine who used to do that.
When I was a little kid and it annoyed that.
You know what's out of me?

Speaker 6 (46:03):
Well, I'm not your uncle, I'm not your aunt because
I got balls too.

Speaker 1 (46:06):
So there you go. You have completely you.

Speaker 5 (46:09):
Know, I get the reference now and it's not repetitive
like they used to do it.

Speaker 1 (46:14):
Book the book and book book.

Speaker 5 (46:16):
Yeah, there are there are certain people in life who
set out to be annoying and like it's one of
those two, like you know, I know a few of them.
Oh god, yeah, I mean, and you love your family,
but you also can be annoyed with your family and
that's one of them. Like where it's just like you
really just don't know how to.

Speaker 1 (46:32):
Read a room, do you? I do your family? Yeah?
I try to.

Speaker 6 (46:38):
Well, Dan, you read this room, Okay, read these nuts? Okay.

Speaker 1 (46:43):
You you're all kind of forced, but I'll go with it.
It was very forced now you and it didn't fit.
So there you go.

Speaker 6 (46:48):
Something you just your crowbo. You could just call me
king Crowbar. Is it your buzzkill with the astros today?
Do you let them get you? I told you they
ain't get me. They got you, right, they got you.
You're killing fight song Friday because you know what we
got Big Jay who wanted to fight Song Friday, Aggie Doug,
we all are They love it because they hear there

(47:10):
Alma Mater, here are the one that they have disdained for.

Speaker 1 (47:13):
And here we are. Don't we have Rice in Houston tomorrow?
We do. Yeah, we got by bucket. Then we got
to buy you bucket.

Speaker 5 (47:19):
Hey, you got eleven am kick between ut and the
damned Rice San Jose State tomorrow, San Jose State.

Speaker 1 (47:26):
Man, here you are. You can't pay me to be
in that stadium for that game. I can't wait to
see it, the first three minutes of it anyway.

Speaker 5 (47:33):
Sure, anyway, I'm just talking about how hot it's gonna.

Speaker 1 (47:35):
Oh yeah, it's gonna be hotter than two rats.

Speaker 5 (47:39):
To have an eleven AM game in the middle of summer.

Speaker 1 (47:44):
Still, all right, Dan, listen, that's what we do in
football uniforms. Dan, We're not soft. Weather doesn't affect us
unless it's lightning.

Speaker 6 (47:53):
As I say that, the Cowboys are walking it off
the field because lightnings in the distance. But yeah, I mean,
here we are, Fight Song Friday, and you're worried about
somebody popping up to first base man or somebody or
strike it out with a bad and scoring position, or or.

Speaker 5 (48:09):
There's uh, you know, a runner on first and third
and in less than two outs and a pitch on
the outside and oh here, yeah, hey, let me uh,
let me come all the way around on this one
and hit a weak little bouncer to third base, little
candy hop that then they can turn a five four
to three double play?

Speaker 6 (48:28):
What's what's a better double play? Let me let me
ask you what rolls out the time more? It's okay,
I got one for you one, all right, I take
it back. Uh, let's see six to four. Uh see
what you say? You said the five to four six
three right right?

Speaker 1 (48:44):
Yea four to six to three. Eh, it's a little
six to three is a little bit more circuitous, but
still gets the job. Are you a three to six
to three guy? Now? Those are incredibly rare? What about
the what about six to one?

Speaker 5 (48:59):
You know, the the the south central Texas area code
three six to one.

Speaker 6 (49:02):
Yeah, yeah, the three to six to one. But it's
truly as a chopper towards short six to four.

Speaker 5 (49:08):
But for pitchrees, you know, just the tough one right
there is you got to make sure you don't get spiked. Yeah,
because I mean, the toughest thing is also where's the bag?

Speaker 6 (49:15):
The angle, how you're coming in, that's the worst feeling,
six reaching around, where's the bag?

Speaker 1 (49:20):
Where's the bag? That that's you don't want the high
chopper to short. Okay, first you were having the six
to four two balls, two strikes, slider on the slider out,
oh swing and a miss or or an high pop
fly towards first.

Speaker 5 (49:41):
Milo Milo once, I think it was the sixth season,
as somebody hit an O two home run and Milo
just you want to talk about disdain?

Speaker 1 (49:49):
He was on an O two pitch. Unacceptable I think as.

Speaker 6 (49:53):
The phrase meaning the Astros pitcher gave it up, right,
I say, it's acceptable.

Speaker 1 (49:58):
It hit an O two pitch out of.

Speaker 5 (49:59):
The if anybody wants to do it, but you know
they don't hold my breath.

Speaker 6 (50:03):
It's okay, Dan, you've I mean, but now you're you've
you've leaked your disdaining into of Fridays and we have
fights on Friday.

Speaker 1 (50:13):
Maybe maybe I'm about to reach bargaining. Yeah, how about that.
It's it's really it hurts, man. I'm over here antagonizing
the hell out of it too. Six to four three,
that's the one where the umpire after it's they get
six to four three where he turns or the slow
roller to said and throws him out of the hard
ground water short and beats him by five feet, and

(50:34):
then you know he's out. And so the the uh.

Speaker 6 (50:37):
Umpire first base turns and starts walking down the third
baseline and gives this signal while he's walking away like
got him like, and the runner is already halfway into
the dugout. Then he finally signals got him. Yeah. You
hang in there, Danny, hang in there. A lot of
disdaining for you.

Speaker 5 (50:52):
Today, going through all all the stages of grief. I
guess which I mean. It is a regular season game,
so you're probably like Dan, calm down a little bit,
but you know, it's it's still It's just it's it's
it's accumulation of things.

Speaker 1 (51:04):
Right now, I wish you were that crouching tiger and
hidden dragon.

Speaker 5 (51:08):
I mean, I think I'm the tiger right now, I don't.
I mean, the fire is there, so maybe a little
bit of the dragon.

Speaker 1 (51:13):
I got a fresh haircut, though, fresh haircut.

Speaker 5 (51:17):
And the weight loss is happening, so I mean I've
got those things. You know what Sean, you're right, I
need to focus on the positives. Yeah, that's what I
need to think about. All the great things in your life.
I've got a few of them. I mean, don't go
to the morning.

Speaker 6 (51:28):
When you're getting down, Yeah, when you're walking to brush
your teeth, the first thing that comes to your mind
is six to four to three.

Speaker 1 (51:33):
You know what?

Speaker 5 (51:34):
That was the first thing too, Like I just got
up and it was just like, God, damn it, just
your bases loaded.

Speaker 1 (51:40):
There's a high shot, we'll roll over. Frankly, the way
that it ended it, it would have been better to
have had that and jord one, there's a gapper first
and six.

Speaker 6 (51:51):
Yeah, it's okay, hang in there, buddy there. I told
you they're not getting me today. Well, yeah, I get me.
It's all happy Friday for me. There's no there's no
empty the bucket on unless you spit on me. Then
then you want to get this day. Yeah, that's the one.
There will be no more talking because boom boom, boom
boom may.

Speaker 5 (52:08):
Maybe even be proactive and and step in before the
spit can even be Do you.

Speaker 1 (52:14):
Like to call it spit or spittle?

Speaker 6 (52:16):
Spittle is is a formal way of saying it's it's
kind of came. Bill Cower used to have spittle when
he was excited.

Speaker 5 (52:21):
It's unintentional, right, it's unintentional, right, but spitting is intentional.

Speaker 6 (52:26):
Like, you have to be able to spit or spat. Yeah,
what do you do? I spat on somebody?

Speaker 1 (52:31):
Yeah? No, not good? No, not good? Yeah, Man, tough
sledding for you today.

Speaker 6 (52:37):
Yeah, I'm not talking. I'm going all Tony Robbins on
you having a zig ziggler. You into being happy, Jean Maxwell,
you to be happy?

Speaker 1 (52:45):
What about Jordan Peterson? What about him? Your buddy? Well,
know that you can find a way to be able
to make somebody happy.

Speaker 6 (52:54):
Seven Habits for Highly Disdained Peoples by Sean Covey.

Speaker 1 (52:57):
There they're walking in a group, just the way the
Marxist want it. There you go. So I'm just trying
to help you out.

Speaker 5 (53:03):
Man, you're doing You're doing a fine job, Sean, you're
doing a great job. It's either one or the other. Well,
when you walk a couple of people, that's that's usually
how that works out.

Speaker 1 (53:15):
All right, Roger, can it go? Texans?

Speaker 5 (53:17):
Oh that that too, that too, you'll have that for you.
We got all of that right here. It is a
fight song Friday. I'll get better, I promise.

Speaker 1 (53:27):
This is this Sean Salisbury Show. Yes, yes, that's very
nice now with that fresh leather scent.

Speaker 3 (53:36):
On Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (53:44):
All right, Sean, what are you hearing out there now?

Speaker 3 (53:47):
The Salisbury's takeout, Salsbury takeout on.

Speaker 5 (53:51):
The Sean Salisbury Show. It is a fight song Friday.
Here steak out time. Astros lose eight four to the Yankees.
Drop that series. Now it's up to Darlington take on
the Rangers. The Texans gonna get the Rams on Sunday
out in La. Cowboys and Eagles Philadelphia and went in

(54:12):
on their home field last night. Twenty four to twenty
seven one three two, one two five seven ninety is
the number to get in. You know what, enough of
me being e or for everybody out there bringing down
the mood, I get it. I understand. Look, it's just
one of those days. It's a case of the Mondays
on the Fridays. You know, you can't have anybody ever

(54:32):
say that to you at work, Lawrence, no man, hell,
no man, Well movie that I believe you get your
hasskicked saying something like that.

Speaker 1 (54:39):
Oh, it's off space, off of space. Enough of the
episodes Lawrence, Lawrence's next door neighbor. I called him low,
good guy, very low.

Speaker 6 (54:47):
Yeah, so Peter, it's Friday, man, Friday's can never be Mondays.

Speaker 1 (54:53):
They just can't. It happened.

Speaker 5 (54:54):
It's it's only seven twenties. So maybe maybe finally step
out of it. Maybe maybe Actually I think I got
a good way to do it anyway, Roger, get us
going this morning, Roger.

Speaker 14 (55:05):
Good morning, Hey, good morning fellas.

Speaker 15 (55:08):
Hey your name Michael Bolton's.

Speaker 1 (55:17):
Hello?

Speaker 15 (55:18):
Hello?

Speaker 14 (55:18):
Hell do you got me?

Speaker 15 (55:19):
Okay?

Speaker 16 (55:19):
All right?

Speaker 15 (55:19):
So, uh yeah, speaking of Office Spade, maybe if somebody
show to interview Christian Walker and say, hey, what do
you think you do here?

Speaker 1 (55:31):
We need the bobs. You're right, you're right. We need runner,
the runners in scoring position consultants. That's what we need.

Speaker 15 (55:40):
Yeah, man, I don't know, man, It's like Bruce Lee
told the stupid Ones, we need emotional content.

Speaker 14 (55:46):
It's not happening, man, It's.

Speaker 15 (55:48):
Just and I know it's funny emphasizing more because it's
the Yankees and you hate him, blah blah blah. Hey,
but I'll give. I'll give at least Aaron brew with
a little bit of credit for Aaron. He's got a
he's got a pulse. The guy's got a pulls. Uh,
you know, I just wish something some of that what
was with the Astros it used to be. But uh,

(56:09):
you know, we're just camp.

Speaker 11 (56:10):
We're not.

Speaker 15 (56:10):
We're that guy on like the the old school guy
cat still reading the paper, the newspaper with the with
the paper folded up, you know, really ain't going to
really ain't going to notice.

Speaker 1 (56:21):
My what's wrong? What's wrong with that? Roger? What's wrong
with that? That's what I just learned.

Speaker 15 (56:32):
It's all good, it's all it's all good. That's really
gonna bother I really wish something did bother the ass
because maybe maybe that's what they need. I'm kind of
kicking the rear.

Speaker 14 (56:41):
I don't know.

Speaker 15 (56:42):
I just you know, we got we got these games
and he got to.

Speaker 14 (56:45):
Turn the page quickly, and it just feels like, uh.

Speaker 15 (56:49):
This team is just is what it is. And I
just I just yeah that that whole first base, that
whole defective first basement, it's uh YEI laughed. It's just
it's just it's like you can't feel that spot. It
just seems like it's just avoind there, you know, tay Kate,
Christoph walking the money and just now delivered the goods

(57:09):
and exactly. And it's that. It's that guy who was
without to me yesterday. He got the career a favor
of hitters Coniday, it goes up to me, let me
just go ahead and steal base. No, you get to
cut off and just stuff like that. It's just annoying
to watch over and over and over again. And I

(57:31):
hope these guys just get with it, man, and I
have a good weekend. Uh, got a golf, got a
t off, got a t off on Saturday. Uh, and
I hope it doesn't rain. Yeah, man, just just uh
just just just see. I hope you see what happens
to roller coaster riding. Let's let's see what we got.

Speaker 1 (57:50):
We got it right, thanks man.

Speaker 6 (57:53):
I'll pay it off today Saturday and Saturday. If I
do study, it's got to be awfully early both Saturday
and Sunday. I got to get college game day. You
know what I'm saying, Dog, Yeah, you're a dupeus. Yeah,
you know that's that's what's needed during football season. Roger, Roger,
I love you, man, I really do.

Speaker 1 (58:12):
I what do you disdate for Roger? Now, not disdain.
It's just like Rogers, Rogers our guy dog. He is
one of them. We got a lot of good peeps.

Speaker 5 (58:23):
And I'm glad that you feel comfortable with us, man,
I really do, and and and and we feel comfortable
with you and and we want you to be here
at all times.

Speaker 1 (58:31):
But what are you saying?

Speaker 5 (58:33):
It's I just said, just sometimes you just land the plane, Okay,
just land the plane long long enough, long.

Speaker 1 (58:42):
Long enough to scent to the runway.

Speaker 7 (58:43):
There.

Speaker 1 (58:44):
He's going to golf man, good for end, Like Rogers,
good for him. You need a little golf, I do.
I do need more golf. I definitely do more golf
less baseball.

Speaker 5 (58:54):
That's probably exactly what I need, because you know, it's
a little bit.

Speaker 1 (58:57):
More certain they don't hit. They're going to be playing
more golf up.

Speaker 5 (59:01):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'll be seeing them out there. Yeah,
be like, hey, you know, it's middle of October. Why
don't you at the ballpark? Oh yeah, yeah, this happened.
That's it. Gotta gotta work on the grip, gotta gotta
make sure the tempo's good, all of those things.

Speaker 1 (59:15):
Kenneth, good morning.

Speaker 17 (59:19):
Yeah, I wanted to hit on a couple of things
about that game last night, and first of all, about
these astros. And I like to give a perspective from
somebody been in this town all this life and and
never knew what it was like to have a world
serious team and watching us get it and every year

(59:42):
showing up, uh every year, and we look and see
them now they seem like they can they can make
the playoffs, and they sleep And I think it's kind
of a right now is a lack of fire and
and and uh.

Speaker 18 (01:00:00):
It's just my opinion is that it's they're just not
as hungry as they You know, a lot of teams
that never been there. You got players that you know,
a lot of players on the team they know they
got their ring. You know, you just don't have that
same five somebody that hasn't been there. And I'm very
optimistic about them, but I don't think without a.

Speaker 17 (01:00:27):
I think it's kind of like a culture in which
a culture change. You damn have to strip a team
all the way down to the frame to change a culture.

Speaker 1 (01:00:37):
Because no, no, no, you don't think so. I live
through it.

Speaker 5 (01:00:42):
In twenty eleven, twenty twelve, twenty thirteen, if you want
that all over again, Kenneth, then you go enjoy that.

Speaker 1 (01:00:50):
But no, no.

Speaker 18 (01:00:53):
You know you don't feel that the culture would have
to kind of change with the whole team, all right.

Speaker 5 (01:01:00):
Usually I'm not the one to put things in perspective,
but they're three and a half games up for first
in the division. Being frustrated about the way things are
going are a lot different than things need to completely change. No, Kenneth,
I'm not tra I don't have Lance Berkman here in
roy Oswalt and the Hunter Pence and a handful of
other guys. I have a team that should still be

(01:01:20):
competing to win a world title.

Speaker 18 (01:01:22):
So no, you don't think You don't think they just
lacked that five o'clock.

Speaker 11 (01:01:26):
They're not hungry.

Speaker 17 (01:01:27):
You don't think that.

Speaker 5 (01:01:28):
There may be is that when you brought up that point,
and I know that when Sean had Emmitt Smith on
talking about what's the problem with the Cowboys, he was like,
they just they don't they don't have the drive that
we had to want to be able to.

Speaker 1 (01:01:39):
Reach that point.

Speaker 5 (01:01:41):
So maybe there is something to that, But in terms
of just completely flipping this thing upside, give me a second,
Kenneth In terms of just flipping this thing upside down
and starting over from scratch again.

Speaker 1 (01:01:51):
No, I'm not signing up for that.

Speaker 18 (01:01:53):
No, No, I'm not saying the two start over. But
we got well, we all because accumulation of good taals
over a good time. Okay, you got a foundation and
what happened. You got to win in spirit. But you know,
it's kind of more to it, you know. But I
wanted to touch on this before ago. It was about

(01:02:14):
like last night of that game, and when I seen
this this you know, this quarterback getting spit on like that,
and and Bill Ramanovsky came to mind, and he did
the same kind of stuff, even let some things come
out of his mouth he couldn't take back. And I

(01:02:35):
put him right on the side of another player that
was with somebody man, And I would ask Sean, how
would he feel looking over the line that Dick Buckers.

Speaker 16 (01:02:44):
Big Buckers played in a rage, but he just never did.
Was known for.

Speaker 18 (01:02:49):
Spitting on people, saying different things and off the field.
If anybody knew, anybody that knew him, that guy was
totally the other side of the coin. But overall, I
looked at that game last night, I looked up I
think there was something like full penalented for personal personal
uh uh conduct versus you know, procedural talented. I think

(01:03:15):
they came into that game last night on a mission.
I think they came in there with with with the
attitude to hit those cowboys.

Speaker 5 (01:03:23):
And yeah, can't I appreciate it?

Speaker 1 (01:03:27):
Man.

Speaker 6 (01:03:31):
Well, let me tell you guys before we go to
break about Country buzz riofic DN, please deal. It's Country
with the k Boys with a Z proud new members
these last couple months, the better Business Bureau, which is
important add Zach to the fray. He's now Steven f
Austin graduate John Sun works for the company, so they've

(01:03:54):
even upgraded that great team. They'll go anywhere in Houston
to fix your roof. It doesn't matter how big the
job is or how small the job is, and the
insurance claims which suck, they'll help you navigate them.

Speaker 1 (01:04:08):
Now.

Speaker 6 (01:04:08):
I love it too because they're also now in the
finance part where they can help you financing through the company,
so you can double dip and do both in the
same building with John and the group of Countryboys roofing
and at a time when people price gouge you during
well storms and at a time when you can't quite frankly,

(01:04:28):
shouldn't have to deal with that stress and anxiety. One
thousand dollars off when you mentioned my name on the
full roof, and fifteen hundred dollars off if you're a
first responder, educator or military. So even in tough times
for you, they try to make it easier, not tougher.
That's who he is and that's who they are. Great team,
great customer service, and they do great work and it's

(01:04:51):
for the right reasons. It's a country with the K boys,
with the Z countryboysroofing dot com, countryboysroofing dot com.

Speaker 1 (01:05:01):
We're fat there.

Speaker 3 (01:05:02):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued, What do I feel like
this is one of.

Speaker 5 (01:05:21):
The California schools, like cow or somebody?

Speaker 1 (01:05:24):
No, wrong.

Speaker 5 (01:05:26):
Region of the country, Tripoli, I couldn't do you just
tell us who what it is?

Speaker 1 (01:05:32):
Said is Boise State?

Speaker 5 (01:05:34):
Oh okay, Yeah, you could have told me that this
was Uh, you don't have a phone, a friend or anything.
And probably even if I did have a phone a friend,
none of us would know this, Like no, who Boise
State is.

Speaker 1 (01:05:46):
But like if you had said it's their fight.

Speaker 5 (01:05:48):
Song, that had been like Okay, Well, at the beginning,
it sounded like maybe like cow or like U C
L A or somebody like that.

Speaker 1 (01:05:55):
Yeah, just yeah, you're saying that on the West Coast,
we have more energy in our fight songs.

Speaker 5 (01:06:00):
Well, nobody in terms of the non HBCU bands, because
HBCU bands take a level, a thousand different level. But
I would say, and some people are gonna say, oh,
come on, you're a Homer. I think the band that
brings the most energy of any of them is LSU.
They bring, they bring, they bring some of the HBCU
energy to their band, like going to their games.

Speaker 1 (01:06:24):
It's it's one of those you know, everybody, oh.

Speaker 5 (01:06:26):
The Aggie marching band all of that, which they're fine,
you know, and then you got the Texas ones with
their little cowboy hats and all of that. Okay, that's fine,
but l L s U is Homer. Homer's fine.

Speaker 1 (01:06:39):
It's fine. I'm just telling you. I mean, I I
could play some of their some of their music, and
I just pay attention to my Trologan marching well.

Speaker 5 (01:06:46):
Like yesterday, I like, I need to be fired up,
And LSU has this defensive song that they play where
like it's just you know, the horns are playing dum
du like I need I needed to be fired up.
I pulled it up on YouTube in the car and
I was driving around listening to it.

Speaker 1 (01:07:00):
Did last long? You got mad at the astros? See
I need that and I need a bacon, egg and
cheese breakfast.

Speaker 5 (01:07:07):
Now I much respect, you know, Like that's I just
I thought about that, like the you know, the the
candy bar commercial, no free plugs where you're not yourself,
You're not you're you're not yourself when you're hungry. Yeah,
so maybe maybe I'm just people people know it's out
there exactly.

Speaker 1 (01:07:29):
Boise, what would be a way to you know? But
blue Field? Is that how you said? Blue Field?

Speaker 5 (01:07:34):
Ian Johnson, Idaho, Jared sid I just remember the guy
that got punched by Legarrett Blunt's last name was Hout.
That's it, how to get punched in the face. H
o u T there you go.

Speaker 1 (01:07:48):
I remember that.

Speaker 5 (01:07:49):
I just remember like he goes up and he's, you know,
kind of jawing at your at Legarrett Blunt, and Blunt said, okay,
here's my jaw or my fist to your jaw.

Speaker 1 (01:07:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:08:00):
Well, what a what a talented player he was but
you want to talk about a guy who was off
his rocker a few times.

Speaker 5 (01:08:07):
Yeah, that was Jeremiah as Zoli those old Oregon teams.

Speaker 6 (01:08:12):
Bill Belichick put him to use on important in New England.
He was a good player.

Speaker 5 (01:08:16):
Instead of Doug Peterson. Damn right, he did both of
those places. You damned rights, you damn rights. What do
you think Grant Scott for you?

Speaker 1 (01:08:22):
Dude? Do you have any Are we sitting new rules
for the car?

Speaker 5 (01:08:24):
You said, yeah, I was gonna say which. By the way,
Strozle was last night eight four. They'll get the Rangers
this weekend. Texan's gonna play this weekend, uh in l
a against the Rams.

Speaker 1 (01:08:34):
But what the callers look?

Speaker 6 (01:08:36):
Okay, they've got your this day, daddy, just shining bright
lya today.

Speaker 5 (01:08:40):
I like to think of I like to think of
the audience as friends and family, because they are.

Speaker 1 (01:08:46):
They're on the friends and family plan. They are.

Speaker 5 (01:08:48):
Think about it this way, Okay, you go out to
drinks with your buddies. One of your buddies buys you
a drink. You don't abuse the privilege they buy you
a drink, you buy I'm a drink back.

Speaker 1 (01:09:00):
I wish my buddies didn't they abuse the privilege? Oh no,
there was, there was.

Speaker 5 (01:09:05):
There was an old buddy I had, and he's still
out there and I see him from time to time
where this guy seriously like leans into being a mooch
and as soon as you see him, you walk into
a bar, Hey, hey, you buy me a beer? Me
like in my response now is I don't even give
a response. I just walked past.

Speaker 6 (01:09:20):
I got one of those who's a good buddy of
mine that just never quite has his wallet for twenty
five years, exactly, I ain't bs no exactly. Then what
he does bring his wallet? He buys you a light
beer during happy hour and thinks he's got you.

Speaker 1 (01:09:35):
Yeah, and he spent.

Speaker 6 (01:09:36):
Four hundred dollars on his take dinner for the seventy
fourth day of the year.

Speaker 1 (01:09:41):
Uh oh mean I look at my wallet. But no,
that's the thing, like you know, it happens well rarely.
I mean we should trace atkins. You find out who
your friends are. Yeah, that's well, no, that's a find
out who your friends are? Is Tracy Lawrence? Tracy Lawrence,
that's right. I think it's Ken Chesney and Tim McGraw,
isn't it? Is it? Those three it's a trifecta. What

(01:10:01):
was Was it a collaboration? Yeah? They all, they're all.

Speaker 5 (01:10:05):
I just remember the music video that roy Oswalt was
in the music video.

Speaker 6 (01:10:08):
Try they got a three person cloud. But I think
it's Chesney McGraw and uh and Tracy Lawrence. I think
that's I think those three are the newest version. I'll
find out who your friends are. So but yeah, you know,
sometimes you just got to laugh at it. But so
basically you're saying, call, make your one hard point, you
got a minute, and then get out.

Speaker 5 (01:10:28):
Because it is it is also to the whole family
and friends thing where it's got other people waiting.

Speaker 1 (01:10:33):
Bingo, domanopolize the time. That's it. There you go. That's it.

Speaker 8 (01:10:36):
Man.

Speaker 5 (01:10:36):
We love you, we want we want to be able
to talk as much with you as possible.

Speaker 6 (01:10:40):
We really do make a strong heart. Because we're five
days a week, so you can call tomorrow bingo. So
you want come in, make a quick hard point and
get out, bingo, and then we'll we'll I answer you good, right,
just because other people are waiting. So you want to
test your theory with grant here in full, sure.

Speaker 1 (01:10:54):
Let's do it.

Speaker 5 (01:10:55):
Here you go in your neck of the woods right here,
I'm right, Grant's right in my neck of the word. Great,
good morning, budd, Yeah you do.

Speaker 14 (01:11:01):
I'm doing well.

Speaker 1 (01:11:02):
Though.

Speaker 15 (01:11:02):
As I'm doing well, I know why y'are film like it.
Some Monday, y'all got folks from the senior living facilities
calling in talking.

Speaker 5 (01:11:08):
About shots shots shots.

Speaker 14 (01:11:12):
Come on, it's ridiculous.

Speaker 1 (01:11:14):
Who ridiculous?

Speaker 15 (01:11:19):
It's fight song Friday, and I'm calling in to see
why Sean's directional school from California duck in the University
of Notre Dame on the football schedule, and I'll take
your comments off the air to be quick.

Speaker 6 (01:11:33):
Get this guy, well, he's in fullshre so I'm giving
him that credit because we're obviously we're We're not far
from each other. Matter of fact, we probably ate it
Cheapa together at one point in time. Maybe not together.
Good sounds shop by the way, really, Oh yeah, I
love a good sandwich, no doubt, and uh ducking us now,
I would be careful with that one. We ain't ever

(01:11:53):
duck Notre Dame in our life. Okay, much respect to her.
I think it's as good a rival as Ears. And
I'm gonna give Grant a hard time, but it's a
respect rabet. That rivalry is not going away. Don't worry.
We'll we'll we'll be playing it and it'll be in
South Bend this year. I do think we'll show up.

Speaker 1 (01:12:07):
You'll be there. I do think we'll show up.

Speaker 6 (01:12:09):
And they are the standing uh final two in the
national chair. They didn't win it, but I got nothing
but respect for no Day and he's saying and he
knows we're not ducking him.

Speaker 1 (01:12:18):
It's okay, university has spoiled children.

Speaker 5 (01:12:20):
But grant you make sure you call in during that
week because I got I'll have a bet.

Speaker 6 (01:12:24):
And I don't even know how good my trophy are
gonna be. Now, I know one thing that we can
score from the parking lot. Now can we get off
the field, I don't know. And Notre Dame's got a
good young quarterback and that CJ. Carr can play so
and we got a real good one because I think
he was player of the week in the conference or something.

Speaker 1 (01:12:38):
I always want to call him Malvea, but my Leva,
our quarterback.

Speaker 6 (01:12:45):
You know, I'm trying to get into the tongue and
you know the tongue and someone pronunciation. Yeah, they're the
Polynesians in the community, right, my guys. But yeah, well
that's not leaving a schedule. It takes two to tangle.
We ain't Texas A and M in Texas.

Speaker 1 (01:12:59):
WHOA.

Speaker 6 (01:13:00):
See what I did there in that rivalry where the
administration everybody wanted it and they decided not to happen.

Speaker 5 (01:13:05):
But that was more of a and IM finally wanting
to have the upper hand on it. Right, Well, that's
what either way. Grown adults should fix that a long
time ago. Finally we got to fix SC Notre Dame
won't get to that point. I know they're going through
it this offseason about the negotiations, and I get all that.
There's no way college football is going to let that happen,
let alone the conference of.

Speaker 1 (01:13:23):
I met you have to have it.

Speaker 5 (01:13:24):
And I mean even the state to the north of US, Oklahoma, Bedlam.

Speaker 6 (01:13:27):
I mean that game should be play always. It's every year,
there's no question. So I know what you're saying, Grant,
We'll never duck you. We'll show up now that I
promise you. Now, I don't know if we're gonna win,
but we'll show up. So I would enjoy this run
while you can, because at some point in time, we're
going to play defense and we're gonna be kicking people's
ass again, because when you're USC you don't go a
way long, just like Texas, just like LSU, just like
Notre Dame. Notre Dame's had their ups and downs. But

(01:13:50):
I know he's kidding, but I got a hundred regardless
of the spread.

Speaker 5 (01:13:54):
The song girl's going to be there. Oh when we
play Notre Dame. Yeah, they show up big fans a
certain game, and I don't wake fan. I don't blame you.

Speaker 6 (01:14:01):
Okay, Do you want to talk about the cheerleading squads
across the country like your band at l s U.
You think we're in the team picture? Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:14:10):
I was gonna say, like, in terms of the out rushmore,
it's like recruiting rankings. Yeah, now five stars across the stars, elite, elite.

Speaker 6 (01:14:20):
Yeah, so Grant, I got you, man. You guys have
the upper hand now. But we'll see, we'll see. I
love nothing but respect for Notre Dame. Well loved my
recruiting trip there. But when it gets to the week,
I'll talk a little more trash. I'm gonna let him
enjoy that because they are the reigning other the second
place team in the country. But I think my Trojans
will be just fine eventually as long as we play defense.

(01:14:41):
I don't know how good they are defensive. That was
in person there last week. We played Missouri State last week.

Speaker 5 (01:14:46):
It's funny enough like last weekend was throwback weekend where
Miami they win, Florida State wins sc even though you
know they still want but still, I mean, like it's
it's it's those programs that most of us can up
watching Michigan Ohio now like this this generation like well,
I mean the other two they've wanted.

Speaker 6 (01:15:05):
You're talking about these powerhouses. Okay, we're oh yeah, yeah,
there's no doubt. And then some people don't realize how good,
even back to Reggie Bush and Matt Liiner, they don't realize.

Speaker 1 (01:15:15):
How good that's. I think it's not that long ago.
But then you look at the calendar and you're like.

Speaker 6 (01:15:19):
Twenty years nineteen twenty years, Yeah great, I got you man,
respect pointed your way. But you don't ever have to
worry about us showing up. That's one thing I assure you.
The Cardinal Goal will always do.

Speaker 5 (01:15:31):
Steve see you right there, get you involved. We can
work in the Astros. We will get into the Texans. Oh,
we're going to get into the Texans.

Speaker 1 (01:15:39):
You're scared. You're not scared? No, no, no, no, quite the opposite.
Oh yeah, really, yeah you're not scared. No. I think
you might. I think you might be a little scared.

Speaker 8 (01:15:47):
Dan.

Speaker 5 (01:15:49):
I think thinking and doing are two different things. And
you're thinking and you're wrong.

Speaker 6 (01:15:52):
I'm wrong on this. Yeah, yeah, you were wrong, sir.
So you're going with the Homer pick already, we used
to put it out there. I'm curb Street to course.

Speaker 1 (01:16:00):
So what are you doing before the game? They're sweetheart, you.

Speaker 6 (01:16:02):
Know they do which he walks around. So you're giving
me an insight. You're telling me the Texans are going
on the road. No, I'm gonna win this game.

Speaker 1 (01:16:08):
Yeah. I can't wait to hear that at all.

Speaker 5 (01:16:10):
Okay, right here Sean Salisbury Show, Sports Talks, seven ninety.

Speaker 3 (01:16:16):
Sean Salisbury continues on seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (01:16:31):
That's so on Friday.

Speaker 5 (01:16:33):
Here Sean Salisbury Show, Sports Talks seven ninety. Astros eight
to four, losers last night, one for eleven with runners
in scoring position as they dropped that series to the Yankees.
Now they get the Rangers up in Arlington. The Texans
is gonna be on the field on Sunday in LA
against the Rams, and the Eagles open up the NFL
season last night with a twenty four twenty four twenty

(01:16:57):
win over the Cowboys. Up one three two one two
five seven ninety is the number to get in. Steve
on the Northwest side, Steve, Good morning, Steve the Pirate?

Speaker 1 (01:17:10):
Are you there shitting? I guess not? All right, so
let's let's let's try Adrian, Good morning. I know he's here. Morning.
You're always on the spot.

Speaker 8 (01:17:28):
Steve must be uh waiting on a guy that just
left me for my prescription this morning, Like he just
showed up.

Speaker 5 (01:17:35):
It's like, who was it last week? Was it Duayanne
and helpaso? Where he had his door open and it
was the ding.

Speaker 6 (01:17:43):
And it was just so you mean, and then you
asked him, hey, you might want to close that discust
up your seatbelt and then let's go.

Speaker 1 (01:17:52):
If we can hear it, you can hear it? Yeah, yeah,
just Adrian, and we know you're ready. What's what? What's up?

Speaker 5 (01:17:57):
Buddy?

Speaker 1 (01:17:58):
What do you got? Hey?

Speaker 8 (01:17:59):
That's what I set my appointments early and my prescription
doctor already knows. Let's get it done anyways. Ah, Joe Spottle,
you're nice, you're cool, you're calm, you're collected. Those are
all nice things. I appreciate you. I understand you. But

(01:18:20):
like my mama say, sometimes that foot, you gotta put
it down and put it down with anger. He's a
grown ass men, grown ass athletes. I don't care if
you got to go in there, kick over a chair,
throw it to a window. You're making enough money, and
I'm sure Jim Crane won't have too many problems replacing
what you need. Sure to give him excuse to make

(01:18:41):
something bigger. So come on, bro. Let them drop too
late in the season to keep them up tucked. Mama
then gave you a vacation and you still walking around
with them in a purse, and you buy yourself with
your boys in the Bahamas. Come on, Joe, let's hear
them cling instead of mush the Texans. I'm really excited

(01:19:01):
this weekend. They're already being you know, the minus four
and a half. Well I got him at minus seven
and a half because my boys from up the road.
So we'll see. But my opinion is I agree with
this offensive lineman we heard you roll with the Texas
this year. Monday, you're gonna remember, Oh lord, let's not

(01:19:24):
play that again. No time soon, cej all this sophomore slump,
we all know it was BS. Let's go out and
show him what time it is and the rest of
the world. We made it to Friday, it just started.
Have a great day, go get that pay and hey
the weekend it's on the way.

Speaker 1 (01:19:47):
Appreciate Adrian. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:19:49):
I mean, you know, with the Spada, as I've mentioned
numerous times, we know what he's going to bring, we
know who he is. We know that you're not going
to see any of that, at least in the public eye.
I mean, who's to say that it's not in the
private eye too. We kind of ran into the same
thing with Gary Kubiak when he was the head coach
of the Texans. You didn't have to ask that question.
With Bill O'Brien, we would see it and hear it

(01:20:10):
on a regular basis. But with the Texans, I mean,
that's the mark of a football team that if you
get that out of a team, you're like, oh man,
all right, we're really getting things going. If you have
a post game and a team is talking about how
physical they were, and you don't want to face them
again Alabama when they were rolling good. You lost to them,

(01:20:31):
and then you lost two or three more after that
because of how much they beat you up in that game.

Speaker 6 (01:20:36):
Their success will be dictated on how healthy they are
in their offensive line.

Speaker 1 (01:20:42):
I'm not worried about anything else. It's pretty simple. It's
a pretty simple solution for me. The quarterback's good, they
get phenomenal defense. Their receivers are going to grow into
it when you got a good quarterback. Yeah, well it
helps the quarterback if you got good receivers. Good quarterbacks
that throw on time with accuracy, elevate receivers and take
a guy who's supposed to be your third receiver and

(01:21:02):
make him better, and that's going to happen. The run
game get mixing healthy's big. We don't know about the
run game yet. We don't.

Speaker 6 (01:21:11):
I think I know what Nick Chubb's all about, but
we haven't seen him carry the load twenty five thirty
times in a minute, so we'll see. But their success
is going to be dictated on the way they play
up front. Pretty it's a pretty simple solution.

Speaker 1 (01:21:23):
Now.

Speaker 6 (01:21:23):
Getting to that points. One thing, especially after last year.
But they can't be any worse. They can't, so everything
will be an upgrade. And how nasty they are, we'll
go find out. It's easy to talk it, but we'll
go find out. And I got news for you. You
thought Texas had to come out and play somebody pretty
good in the opener, the Front seven they're playing in La.

(01:21:43):
If your faint of heart's probably the wrong game to
show up for. They will knock the hell out of you.
Let let's make let's not forget, let's not feel if
they had Aaron Donald, I'm not sure who's blocking him,
but let's not forget. As good as Philly was last year,
the Rams had him on the ropes, dead to rights
day late in the game. So this isn't just oh man,

(01:22:05):
they got this team case Stafford's health. And if you
if you decide that you're playing an average we're gonna
pillow fight somebody this weekend. The Rams will destroy you
at the line of scrimmage. So this is a great test.
So if you wanted to find out just how good
they are, you're gonna know real quick how quickly a
punch to the face, how you respond to it, because
you're gonna get one, and they are gonna give it.
So this is a legitimate Super Bowl team as long

(01:22:27):
as as long as nine's under center.

Speaker 5 (01:22:30):
And I'm gonna find out just how good that team is,
as they got a big match up this weekend. So
the Strows too, and we'll talk about them. To start
up the eight o'clock hour here if you want to
join us someone three two one two five seven ninety
against seven one three two one two five seven ninety.
It is a Sean Salisbury Show, Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 3 (01:22:49):
Kbm e's Houston ADHD two Houston, an iHeartRadio station.

Speaker 9 (01:22:53):
The Astross, the Rockets, Rockets East, Befall your home for
your home teams. This is Sports Talk seven ninety from
the Parsons that mentioned next Studios.

Speaker 1 (01:23:11):
Okay, let's do this. Sean Salisbury, USC.

Speaker 2 (01:23:19):
Troupes, longtime friend Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 3 (01:23:21):
Dan Matthew, excuse, this is the Sewan Salisbury Show.

Speaker 1 (01:23:30):
I'm going to be you the rest of show. I
don't care. Friday suck. I feel like Monday.

Speaker 6 (01:23:35):
You want to breakfast talking? No, I don't want to
breakfast talking. They sucked to that's not true. But first
and third six to forty others, but they're still really good.
I don't care about it. The astros are driving. I
think I think we got a way to boost your movie.
I think we got away. You got a gummy well,
I mean in this hour, Uh it could got a

(01:23:57):
mocktail from spittletap, maybe make a little belt to die,
but it defeats the purpose of the surprise.

Speaker 5 (01:24:04):
If I just go ahead and tell you got a
surprise for me. Yeah, oh nice. I'm really not disdaining shawnee. Yeah,
I know, I'm simply noticed the shand.

Speaker 1 (01:24:12):
I feel like that.

Speaker 5 (01:24:13):
Probably I was about like six o'clock, I would say
that now I'm about eight going to nine on the disdain.

Speaker 1 (01:24:18):
I think I'm about there. I think I think nine
would make it worse. No, I would like you to
you're on you're on the upswing.

Speaker 6 (01:24:25):
Okay, so you're getting you're worrying towards midnight is what
you're saying, Okay, or noon twelve o'clock.

Speaker 1 (01:24:29):
There you go. All right, I got you. That's what
it is. I got you. Yeah. So I'm coming out
of it. I'm coming out of it, all right.

Speaker 6 (01:24:37):
It's just so I've talked to you to being a
little happy. Yes, yes, you have the disdain and going, yeah,
woo saw it basically you got a wo saw it?

Speaker 1 (01:24:44):
Well you do?

Speaker 5 (01:24:45):
Yeah, meditation helps you think woo saw works, Yeah, you do,
absolutely well.

Speaker 6 (01:24:50):
How come what I'm sitting here trying to hit a
five iron to a back left pen place, but I
leave it out right and I got a putt from
thirty feet and be prepared to three jack.

Speaker 1 (01:24:58):
I can't woo saw that. I want to go up
there and I might not have that shot in the bag.
And for it, whoa daddy trying to be That's what
that is. I take it personal. You're saying I don't
have a turns into Michael Jordan that personally, you don't
say I got a you know, a five iron to
a back left pin from two ten. You don't think
I got that shot? Huh, it's nothing. I'm not saying
that you don't. I'm just saying that you don't. Maybe

(01:25:23):
we all have to pay our strength.

Speaker 6 (01:25:24):
And you're thinking, you're thinking, shot, it's okay, man, you
just too putt from there and we'll get out with
the par and we'll move on to the next one.
So you simply said it's my caddy on that shot.
Maybe it's not your bag.

Speaker 1 (01:25:35):
I mean, I'm also judging the wind, seeing I'm seeing
the pen place. Ted tells that to Scheffler. I mean
it like I'm Scheffler. Well, okay, maybe there's a major
difference there. He's got that shot in and the keyword
is major. Yeah you think, but then that's at the end. Yeah,
the difference is he's probably hitting eight iron. Right, That's

(01:25:55):
exactly I think I told the story. And we'll get
some of you on the phone lines and no, no,
you're gonna do it. I think you're lying to him. No, no, no,
I'm not lying.

Speaker 5 (01:26:03):
Well, we'll get to But I remembered years ago I
took a theories of uh of of coaching golf class
in college.

Speaker 1 (01:26:11):
And that's the beauty of college, you know, electives all day.

Speaker 5 (01:26:14):
So we would go to the golf practice area where
we went to school, and I remembered I was trying
to do the flop shot and flop shot, and the
golf coach for our school was the one who taught it,
and he just comes up to me and goes, what
are you doing? And I just said, well, I'm trying.

Speaker 1 (01:26:28):
I'm trying.

Speaker 5 (01:26:28):
I'm trying to fill golf, the flop shot, he just
does the quick little pat on the shoulder and goes
it's a lot.

Speaker 1 (01:26:34):
Of practice, Brothers, you're not Phil. That's a that's a lot.
That's a lot.

Speaker 5 (01:26:39):
Like basically, he was saying, Hey, I don't want you
to hit a hostle rocket and it smokes some girl
in the shin.

Speaker 1 (01:26:44):
That's that's what I don't want you to do.

Speaker 6 (01:26:46):
It takes a lot and usually at the practices when
you're by yourself, just flop shot and balls around the
green at the practice facility at your club.

Speaker 5 (01:26:53):
And in tin Cup when he's got the yips, he's
I love Romeo. You think you're showing chili peppers. Lee Janson's.

Speaker 6 (01:27:05):
Two time US Open winner Lee Johnson man, yeah, big,
I think. Yeah he won twice. Right, that's exact because
I saw him winning Olympic in person in San Francisco.

Speaker 1 (01:27:12):
But they're getting back to, yeah, that's it.

Speaker 6 (01:27:15):
Hey, that takes a lot of practice, does or or
you try to Like I've said before, you know you're
you're sitting there staring at a green from two sixty
and water surround it.

Speaker 1 (01:27:23):
You got a three wood in your hand. You're like,
I'm an amateur. Those guys aren't trying to hit that shot. There,
kay be a little wiser, right.

Speaker 6 (01:27:31):
And then if you say, well, what do you say, well,
I'm going to hit it like Scheffler, the simple answers,
guess guess who you're not.

Speaker 1 (01:27:36):
I was gonna say, you got, you got a couple
of green jackets. I don't know about it. You got
a US Open, but they don't have the Masters. That
is the US the one he doesn't have. He doesn't
have the British. Does he know he's got? He have
the British this year? Oh, that's right, exactly right, he's got.
I think it's isn't it the PGA that he doesn't have?
Maybe it is for some or maybe hell it's one

(01:27:58):
of those two. He got the British this year, that's
exactly he's got. He's at three or four. Now.

Speaker 6 (01:28:02):
If he's at four, then he's at four two degree Masters,
one other major and than the British. So I'm not
sure if it's the US Open. He obviously didn't win
the US Open this year. That was at Oakmont and
that was our guy, that's spawn j. I'm trying to think,
was it last year he won a PGA Championship, so fo,

(01:28:22):
he's he's got four majors so and two of them
are Augustus. So yeah, when they say I'm going to
hit that shot like Scheffler does, Sean, guess what you're
you're you're you're not Scheffler. And plus he's hitting one
hundred and ninety yard. Yeah, the US is the only
one he doesn't have. Okay, So he won the Masters
one pg A, which he did this year, and then
the the Open.

Speaker 1 (01:28:40):
I want to take a bet in the future's bet
that he wins one. That's that's the old. Hey, you
want Tiger, you want the field?

Speaker 5 (01:28:48):
That's on Scheffler, Right, That's that's that's that's one of
the go tos in sports radio, along with July Mount
Rushmore month.

Speaker 6 (01:28:54):
Oh, that's the June. Let's go around Mount Rushmore. Let's
put lists together because there's nothing else to talk.

Speaker 1 (01:29:00):
Hey, in the US Open this weekend at Southern Hills,
you taking Tiger, you're taking the field? Yeah, you mean
lazy people's radio, brother, that is that is basically that's
called mail it in day.

Speaker 5 (01:29:12):
No, that's one hundred percent what it is. It's it's
uh ketchup or Mustard seven one three, two two.

Speaker 7 (01:29:18):
If you.

Speaker 1 (01:29:20):
Answer nothing, is there anything other than ketchup? You're a moron.
There you go. I love ketchup on how do I
like them? Both do too.

Speaker 6 (01:29:27):
But you're gonna give Steve another shot and you're gonna
bypass him. We're gonna go John First, you're gonna put
your making You're putting a baby in the corner.

Speaker 1 (01:29:34):
That's it. Sorry, you know the look. It's your spot
you get you're getting your lot. Look whatever, that's fine.
I get it. That's fine. We all we all have
lives to live. But same time, you know us in
the audience, we got lives to live too. You're putting
baby in the corner. It's okay.

Speaker 5 (01:29:50):
He'll be fine. Yeah, he's gonna be all right, Steve,
Steve will be good. But John, let's talk some astros
who lost last night eight for to the Yankees.

Speaker 1 (01:29:56):
John, what's going on?

Speaker 14 (01:29:58):
It was that old fellas.

Speaker 11 (01:29:59):
Hey. The one thing I like about this show.

Speaker 7 (01:30:01):
We do sugar cake, sugar coat nothing on this show.

Speaker 11 (01:30:04):
We tell it like it is.

Speaker 7 (01:30:05):
I'm I'm f the ruff of some cellars this morning.
Go all right, let me go. We got you know
what the.

Speaker 8 (01:30:13):
Thing is is this yere.

Speaker 11 (01:30:14):
We got two guys on this team that we all
looked up to a mile.

Speaker 7 (01:30:18):
You know, we're sayings of them, and we always looked
for them to be the leader of the team.

Speaker 11 (01:30:23):
Because they want championships.

Speaker 1 (01:30:24):
They've been here.

Speaker 7 (01:30:25):
They're supposed to inspiraate despire other young players play like them,
but they ain't. Then Jack in this Jankeie, I'm talking
about college corel and I'm talking about a two bay
because them guys had runners on base. They're straking out
a two bays, straking the balls a while, call Correll
hitting double players, and they making all kinds of states

(01:30:46):
that you wouldn't think they would make them the leaders
of the team. You would think they would set a standard.
But so far they haven't showed me anything other than
you're done who they rested the other night. We see
what he did the last two games he's been back
pan up about.

Speaker 15 (01:31:01):
I just think that.

Speaker 7 (01:31:02):
Something need to be done with. Somebody need to call Cols,
Carrillo and a two bay to the side, say y'all
leave of the team. Man, y'all leave me his own base.

Speaker 11 (01:31:12):
And I just don't like that fellas.

Speaker 8 (01:31:15):
I got rough them fellers, But I gotta call it
like this.

Speaker 1 (01:31:19):
I appreciate John. Thank you John.

Speaker 5 (01:31:21):
There's there's somebody I follow on social media. He's over
in New Orleans and he goes by holding the Mayo
and he has a line that call that he says
can't find him with a search warrant. Well, right now,
that's kind of the case with L two ve Christian Walker.
I'm not gonna put Korea in there, even though he's
kind of slumping a little bit too. Two for five
last night. Three K's in that, But I mean, that's

(01:31:44):
just the problem, is it. It seems like that if
one of those guys is off, everybody's off, and you
just you can't win that way. You've got to have
I mean, the Astros have won before with jose L
Twove slumping. They had to really work hard for it,
but they've done it. And in this case right here,
that's what's compounding the problem. He's slumping, so is everyone else,

(01:32:05):
and anybody not named Jordan Alvarez really can't be counted
on right now.

Speaker 6 (01:32:12):
So is there a remedy? I would say that they
can attain. Do you think they can get hot and
sustain twenty games of great baseball? To get to win
the division going away and to carry it in the playoffs.
I would just say, look, the approach you're having clearly
is not working. Okay, So in season this late, can
you make a judgment so you're locked into who you

(01:32:33):
are is there? Are you living more on hope and
reputation or are you living on the the ability that
they're just see. I think they're so talented still, but
sometimes you're in a season where it just you know
you're going to a nine and eight year and you're
hoping to get in the playoffs. Now they're three and
a half games from the first place. It's a phenomenal.
It's a great phenomenon considering all that's happened to them.

(01:32:56):
I think they're capable of it. The question is we
know they're capable of it. The question is are they
good enough this year to get it done. I think
it's a pretty fair and simple question, and I think
most of the people's answer. If you're removing yourself from
the fact that our emotion is rooting for the Astros
to win, if you're just like looking on a national
scope and you're covering all what thirty teams in Major
League Baseball, correct. Yeah, and you're covering and say, okay,

(01:33:18):
let's go down the strengths and weaknesses of each, not
the potential of each.

Speaker 1 (01:33:23):
But we know that's there. The Astros have proven that
over the last decade.

Speaker 6 (01:33:25):
But the strengths and weakness is in twenty twenty five,
there's a handful of teams you're putting in front of them.

Speaker 1 (01:33:31):
When it comes to hitting. Yeah, that's organisation right now
for sure.

Speaker 5 (01:33:36):
So the team you just played on it this way
this year when you have a better lineup on paper
than they do right this year, no doubt this year.
The normal outlier for the Astros in the past and
they're going good has been you know, a few gaffes
along the way, but it gets fixed in their stretches
of good baseball longer. This year, the inconsistency has been

(01:33:56):
the norm. And I think right now we'd probably be
a little more shocked if they went on a seven
game dominant run as opposed to a seven game blah
run where they where they're two and five. I think
you'd be more shocked if they went eight and one
as opposed to two and six.

Speaker 1 (01:34:12):
Yeah, I mean, that's brother, they've been living in blaw
so that's what I'm saying.

Speaker 6 (01:34:16):
So right now, if I said you had to bet
on it for ten games, closer to three and seven,
closer to two and eight, three and seven, or should
I say closer to seven and three or three and
seven three and seven, that's I think that's the mentality
that a lot of people feel that this year. That's
where we're hanging on a little more hope they can

(01:34:38):
get it done, as opposed to the pass where I
think most of us have said, we know they can
get it done right, and I think that's where we're
living right now.

Speaker 1 (01:34:44):
That is a major difference.

Speaker 5 (01:34:45):
Continue the Astros conversation because it is a huge weekend
and you know, as promised, Steve will work them in.
I'm sure sure probably the colaschi all of that's been digested.

Speaker 1 (01:34:55):
We're all good to go.

Speaker 5 (01:34:56):
But anyway, it is the Sean Salisbury Show here on
a fight song Friday, Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (01:35:02):
I am a dip guy, you say, Shama kind Well,
I can tell you what kind of dip. Daisy French
onion dip and the daisy ranch dip. Now I am.
I'm like the finger food appetizer chips, you know, throw
a fredo in their chips to get the dips. Sometimes
to the point on college game day or during Saturdays
and studies get up put the spread. It always has

(01:35:24):
the daisy French onion dip or the daisy ranch dip.
Was in the local grocery store over the weekend picking
it up, and why because well, the other food's fine
and dandy later in the day, but in order to
get you through. And don't you do it on holidays too,
you do it on Labor Day, you do it on holidays.
You do it sports and it's sports season. This is
this is daisy French onion dip and ranch dip time

(01:35:44):
of year, right and now it comes out with this
delicious French onion dip.

Speaker 6 (01:35:48):
As an obsession of mine. They are delicious as homemade dip.
You can add whatever you want to be you won't
need to because they got the real rbs and spices
and the other ingredients you'd find in your own kitchen.

Speaker 1 (01:35:57):
But they're doing it for you.

Speaker 6 (01:35:58):
Pop on into your local grocery store and find out
what I already know and have known. And I'm grateful
to be part of this where I get to well
spend my college football Saturday and Sundays or any other
day of the week doing what really is the strength
of a meal. My chips and dips, and it's Daisy
French onion dip and Daisy ranch dip.

Speaker 1 (01:36:19):
I can go to my refrigerator and take a picture.
You'll see it. Now, visualize it, and then go out
and do it.

Speaker 6 (01:36:25):
Get to your local grocery store and look for Daisy
French onion dip at a grocery store near you.

Speaker 1 (01:36:32):
Let the celebration start.

Speaker 3 (01:36:34):
Or Sean Salisbury, it's a Sean Salisbury show. Sean Salisbury Shows, Sports.

Speaker 5 (01:36:58):
Talk Astros eight four losers last night to the Yanks.
Get the Rangers up in Arlington for a huge series
this weekend. Texan is gonna be in La taking on
the Rams. That's gonna start on Sunday. And the Eagles
take out the Cowboys last night twenty four to twenty.

(01:37:19):
Shout out to the Baylor Bear fans out there this morning.
Tough one last week against Auburn, but they'll bounce back,
you know, see.

Speaker 1 (01:37:27):
What they can do.

Speaker 5 (01:37:28):
I now there's a lot of proud Baylor alums out there.
Charlie what's her name, Charlie ed City from Channel thirteen.
I know she's a proud Baylor alums, so I know
that they're looking forward to us seeing what David Randa's
team can do this season. But continuing along here on
a fight song Friday, you want to get in? Seven
one three two one two five seven ninety the number

(01:37:49):
to get in Steve on the northwest side, Steve, what's up?

Speaker 19 (01:37:53):
Good morning, guys. I learned my lesson.

Speaker 20 (01:37:55):
Now is my boss on the phone to Pace signed
my checks? But I totally my priorities right now was
seven ninety sports.

Speaker 1 (01:38:01):
So you get you get an excuse, You get an excused.
Uh there, I like to take the boss's call next next.

Speaker 5 (01:38:09):
Time, it's it's gonna be bear crawls. It's gonna be
it's gonna be the punishment for you. All right, But
you're good now, you got it?

Speaker 8 (01:38:16):
You got it?

Speaker 1 (01:38:17):
Got so hey.

Speaker 19 (01:38:18):
You know I've had my share crow in the world.
Uh my whole life. I eat a lot of crow
because I'm wrong a lot.

Speaker 20 (01:38:25):
But I don't see this team getting through the Texas
Rangers twice and the Mariners. There's no discipline on this team. Uh,
Like Sean was saying, I would say more of a
three and seven than an eight and two.

Speaker 19 (01:38:39):
I don't see it out of this team. They're very
undisciplined at at the at the plate.

Speaker 20 (01:38:44):
I just it is to me, this seems like it's
probably one of the worst kidding teams we've had in
a long time. And we've had some teams that were
borderline good, but this team is just it's I don't
know how they're in first place is beyond me. I mean,
the good thing is the Mariners keep losing when we lose,
and the Texas Rangers are probably gonna, I think, take

(01:39:07):
the division. But you know, I just don't see anything
that's gonna change in the next ten to fifteen days.

Speaker 19 (01:39:15):
And I want to ask you a question, who's our
hitting coach?

Speaker 1 (01:39:18):
Alex sent Tron.

Speaker 15 (01:39:20):
Okay.

Speaker 16 (01:39:21):
I would hope to.

Speaker 20 (01:39:22):
Think that they do a little bit of a coach
changing and this guy's gone for he's teaching. Unless it
is just a baseball player type mentality that they're not
going to change. I think something's got to change in
the clubhouse coming next year.

Speaker 19 (01:39:38):
Guys, have a blessed weekend and I'll talk to you later.

Speaker 1 (01:39:41):
Mak Stein appreciate Steve.

Speaker 5 (01:39:43):
I mean, it kind of gets back to the point
of he was just bringing up about the Rangers and
the Mariners. I mean, the only saving grace of how
you've played throughout the month of August and here in
the early going in September is that those teams have
not played incredibly well. I mean, the Rangers were surging,
they were playing well, then they went to Arizona and
lost a couple of games, and you hope you can

(01:40:04):
prolong that.

Speaker 1 (01:40:05):
I mean, we don't even know who's starting the night
for the Astros.

Speaker 5 (01:40:07):
My guess, if I had to put a guess, is
it'll be my Colors, just because he needs somebody to
be able to step in and it would be a
chance for him to be able to do that.

Speaker 1 (01:40:15):
Maybe even aj blue Ball. I'd be fine with that too.

Speaker 5 (01:40:18):
But this is the most important series you've had this season,
this one this weekend, because you go up there, you
get swept. All of a sudden, there are only two
games behind you. You lose two out of three. Now
there are four games behind you. So this is one
where you take care of business, then you don't necessarily
have to worry.

Speaker 1 (01:40:38):
You don't take care of business, well, then some of
those hitting.

Speaker 5 (01:40:42):
Troubles you're having the squeakiness at the plate, ripping the
sawdust out of the bat.

Speaker 1 (01:40:48):
Then it starts to get even tighter.

Speaker 6 (01:40:50):
Yeah, Steve, here's and Dana here's the way I'd look
at that. When we talk about fire a guy or not,
I'm not there, neither of you, none of us are
about what is hitting philosophy is you can watch players
swing the bat and get an idea of the philosophy
of the team. Like when you used to watch Charlie
Lao with George Brett's teams of Canstey Rose. You know,
one hand off the bat, who then Walt Rennie act

(01:41:12):
the kruck and all those guys A rod one. You
know that teaching style. There are styles, now.

Speaker 11 (01:41:17):
Do you?

Speaker 6 (01:41:17):
Does everybody follow the same style? No, regardless of whatever
the about Alex Centron is. I evaluate everybody in the offseason,
including him, and it's real simple for me. Are we
better or are we worse? And is there a trend there?
If it happened once, listen, everybody has them. If it
happens you know twice, it's happened twice or consistent like

(01:41:38):
I always say three times, whether it's three seasons, three things?
You do you know you run a red light three times,
eventually a CoP's gonna get you rolling stop third time.
It's a trend. Cops gonna pull you over and say
can't do a rolling stop. Boom, here's this same thing here.
So you get to a point where I listen and
it's not regardless of your emotional love for an astro

(01:41:59):
or whoever it is is. It's real simple for me.
Are we better because of you at any position? And
if we're not, or we're getting worse, then I have
to make a change. It's the same thing as a player,
Are you making us better? That doesn't mean you quit
on a guy after five games, but you know what
I'm telling it's expanded out and the players and the

(01:42:20):
coaches because it's a long you got to evaluate them.
Like I'm not calling Bryce Young at the failure after
his rookie year. Let me see a body work. Now
three more years of his rookie year, then we got
to look at say this is not Trevor Lawrence has
enough body of work to say he has not lived
up to the first pick of the draft. He's shown
flashes of it, but hasn't. Bryce Young now going his
third year, better in his second year, we'll see, so
we're not gonna quit him that soon. But there's enough

(01:42:42):
body of work for the hitting coach to decide, to
evaluate enough, whether it's Joe Spot of Dana Brown, Jim Crane,
and to go in there and say, are we better,
does he enhance the batting order? Do we get are
we better because of him? And if you're worse, if
you're better in spite of him, you got to find
somebody else. If you're better because of him, you got
to get him a contract extension. And if you're staying

(01:43:05):
the same, which this year has not been good, it's
been average at best at the plate, then that's right now,
wouldn't serve any purpose, especially this late, but when the
season's over, because you're not going to make adjustments with
the new hitting coach in twenty games, but to get
their trends in and what they like. But at the
end of the year, if you look at and say
we are not better because of him, and we've we've declined,

(01:43:27):
then you have to look at that and anybody else
in the evaluation process.

Speaker 1 (01:43:31):
I'm big on it.

Speaker 6 (01:43:31):
I just nothing personal. Man, I love you, you've been here,
but are we better because of you, or are we
better in spite of you? And if we're not better
because of you, or we're getting worse, then it's time
to make a change. Whoever that is at any position, pitching, hitting, manager,
bench coach, third basement, doesn't matter.

Speaker 1 (01:43:47):
It's the same year, it's the same at every job.
It should be. It is, I mean, it is it.

Speaker 5 (01:43:51):
If I came doesn't mean you had crap chemistry after
you and Brian, then I wouldn't like it, but I'd
understand the decision go a different direction.

Speaker 6 (01:44:01):
Yeah, sure, and guess what adjustments have to the And
one thing I will say, and I've always believed this,
my offensive coordinator and quarterback coach was not responsible for
a decision I made and a throw I made. Now,
could it have been a horses ass play call? Sure,
we've all been that, just like we've made horses asked

(01:44:22):
decisions in our job. Say, man, I could have done
better in that They sent in a play call. Man,
that's a bad play considering it's third and six and
they're a zone team and you called a man beater
and they're playing too deep. Well, if that's me, I
got two choices as a quarterback. I either got to
get out of that play and get us to a
smarter one because coach guessed wronger the they changed up
their game plan because they want to blitz more midfield,

(01:44:44):
or I got to be smart when I drop back,
make a decision to throw that ball, throw the check down.

Speaker 1 (01:44:49):
We'll live to play another day. And it's second and
six and we'll go forward.

Speaker 6 (01:44:53):
If I drop back and it was a horrible play
call and I compound that by throwing a hitch route
into a roll corner and he squats and takes it
the distance for a touchdown. That ain't on my quarterback coach,
It's just not now. If he's teaching me in the
film room, Sean, when they have a roll corner and
we have hitch on instead adjusting it where you're out

(01:45:14):
mandatory outside release up in the hole, We're going to
keep the hitch on now, if that's what and you
throw it, if you think you got space, if he's
teaching it, then you got to fire the coach because
nobody should be throwing a hitch route into a roll corner.
If he's tea he can get my point on the philosophy.
But if he's told me a million times.

Speaker 1 (01:45:30):
Hey, sean.

Speaker 6 (01:45:31):
They if they go they guess right and go to
too deep and we're running all hitch work inside out.
Don't throw the outside hitch. We're out throwing a corner.
That's the oldest seventh grade swiftly Pennsylvania football. Don't throw
a hitch and I throw it. That ain't on the
quarterback coach or the coordinator who called the play. It's
just not and no offense of your tea. Now, if
you're saying, chase pitches outside the strike zone, we want

(01:45:52):
to be overly aggressive, and that's what he's teaching, then
it's time to make a change. But if he's also
teaching guys on the switch, this is their pitch, you
got to lay off it. Until this point he's teaching it,
and everybody's agreed with the philosophy. But you just can't
catch up the high cheese or you can't you can't
stay disciplined enough to layoff non competitive strikes that ain't
on the hitting coach. You get my point, right, I

(01:46:15):
don't think we put enough accountability on players at times.
We automatically Now coaching matters and all that, but it's
the philosophy that we don't know what they're teaching, and
if you're not paying attention, then the hitting instructure either
has to change his philosophy to reach everybody in the lineup,
or you got to replace him, or the player's got
to make sure that you're a pro. You've been to
carlscru has been a league long enough, Alex Cintron. It's

(01:46:37):
like having a great golfer. Scotty Scheffler has a golf coach,
and you think, what the greatest player in the world
is going, Yeah, tinkering all the time now too, That's
exactly right. If his if coach Smith is Randy Smith,
I think soon as guys is teaching chefer, Hey man,
I want you to I want you to overroll your
right wrist when you're with a five iron. He snap
hooking everything and sky. Well, I'm just doing what you're teaching.

(01:46:59):
Then you got to change the hitting instruct now. If
he says, dude, you don't need to change it. You're
in perfect grip. You just need you just square the
club up, blah blah blah, and the golfer is not
capable of doing that. Got to separate. That's on Scotty Scheffler.
It ain't the caddy's fault. When Scotty says, hey man,
which he doesn't do very often. I'm just using him
the best in the world. Hey man, we're two hundred

(01:47:20):
yards away and it's a stock club. Oh stock to stock.
That's from me, it's for him. It's a stock seven iron,
whatever it is, right, no wind pin, cut back right,
You're a key hits high cuts.

Speaker 1 (01:47:31):
Oh, Scotty, this is perfect for you. Well what do
you think talking to this caddy, Ted, what do you think?

Speaker 6 (01:47:35):
Well, no wind stock seven iron, Just hit your high fade, brother,
and we'll be within three feet and Scotty hits it.

Speaker 1 (01:47:42):
That's what they do. Now.

Speaker 6 (01:47:44):
If Scheffler doesn't have that shot in his bag, then
the caddy's saying, hit that shot, dude, I haven't hit
it all year. You know, a cut five iron around
a tree to a two hundred and forty yard pin
that's got water surround it. No, you go for it,
and he talks him into well, Scotty should be smarter,
but he would do that, and Ted should be wiser,
and then you got to change. But if he's been
hitting that shot all year long and in one tournament

(01:48:06):
he's he can't he can't hit it to a back
right pin, which is his strength. That ain't on Ted,
that's on the guy with the golf club in his hand. Well,
but you're not replacing Scotty Chef. You're not replaced that
exactly all those guys, right, So if you're not getting
the most at of him, you have to evaluate it
and say, if he can't reach them and we can't elevate,
not only is it on them, but it's always al
tuo Van going.

Speaker 1 (01:48:26):
The hitting coach would go first.

Speaker 6 (01:48:28):
The coordinator your quarterbacks, Dak Prescott ain't going if the
helping get gets fired with all the money, Brian Schottenheimer
is the one that would get fired. But sometimes it's
not right. But the question is what's being taught, and
the players still has to take some accountability. Hey, I
don't know a guy in the world that teaches swing
it pitches off the plate in a two count that's

(01:48:49):
on the hitter. Sorry to tell you, it just is,
especially if you're a grown ass man you've been in
a league a while.

Speaker 5 (01:48:54):
Well sometimes too, you can have like in that bat
like Jeremy Panel last night, or try out looking and
not a single one of them was in the zone
and that doesn't all.

Speaker 6 (01:49:03):
That looked a little bit like undisciplined pain yet times
when he struggled in the past. Yeah, he's had such
a hell of a year. I love his aggressiveness and
he's doing his thing. Those are going to happen, but
you're like, why are you chasing that many out of
the zone?

Speaker 18 (01:49:16):
Right?

Speaker 6 (01:49:16):
Okay, you kind of kind of crept back into a
little bit of old school on discipline. He's the reason
he's gotten better. Hit the ball to right field like
he did the other day driving a run, and has
been and has laid off those non competitive pitches and
he's fine. So I don't want to say hall pass
because you need it all the time, but you're not
gonna get it all the time.

Speaker 1 (01:49:31):
It's baseball.

Speaker 6 (01:49:32):
So he's been a good example of a guy who's
actually got better this year. Is that because of Centron
or is it because of Jeremy Panna. That's the evaluation
that a spot in this group has to have when
the season's over, including Dana Brown when he's evaluating what's
best for their team in the clubhouse, the dugout, and
on the field.

Speaker 5 (01:49:50):
Carl and Allen, see you guys right there, get you involved.
You want to join him seven one three two one
two five seven ninety against someone three two one two
five seven ninety. It is John Salisbury's show, Sports Talk
seven ninety and we're.

Speaker 1 (01:50:03):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued.

Speaker 5 (01:50:40):
Shawn Salisbury Show, Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (01:50:43):
Fly High, Rice House, Yes, the Rice House any very fly? Hi?
We got, we got? We got the mob going right now?
U h by twenty Really?

Speaker 5 (01:50:53):
Wow?

Speaker 1 (01:50:53):
I don't know who's gonna win and a half? I got, Yeah,
I got. I might have to make a bet on
this game. Bye, I got. But he's both you know,
the rice Oles love him in University of Houston. It
should be fun. Man, I'm anxious to stay. Do you
think I asked you a question? Oh God, I've always.

Speaker 6 (01:51:12):
Wondered guys who have dictators, and I've asked my guy
this before. You're looking at me because I'm curious where
you're going. You know where I'm going?

Speaker 1 (01:51:20):
I do. You're like you said, you just don't know.

Speaker 6 (01:51:23):
Breakfast with Sky Mike our guy, right, Uh huh, he's
my guy Sky. I'm just wondering, you know, because you
can ask this. I think I don't know if he's
at the single or dating and stuff, and it's not
Mary right, And I love sky May. He's one of
my favorite guys. You know, comedian. He's a class clown
that you know I'm talking about to make people laugh
in class and I love it.

Speaker 1 (01:51:44):
He's he makes me happy every time I see him.

Speaker 6 (01:51:46):
I'm just wondering. I've asked him this too. What do
you think like when he's making love? Do you think
they call him Mike make love to me Mike? Or
do you do they use this nickname? I've always wondered that, Well, Son,
did you ask him? I did, smiled, and I think,
what do you mean that I ask him? You don't
mean tripley. I have a question to ask for. I
need to know the whys and hows. And that's why

(01:52:08):
they call him whiskers. He's curious like a cat.

Speaker 1 (01:52:10):
So do you think that what do you what? Would
you be? Your guests? I don't even know if the
audience wants me to answer.

Speaker 5 (01:52:16):
You said, how's that taco that you It's yeah, it's
it's it's feeling like it's about to take the elevator
off both of you guys. When I said, well, do
they call him skuy? You're like, oh gosh, so what
do you think though it's it's it's one of those
that I mean, somebody had to have handed him the
nickname a few years ago. But I don't think like
you can go with it in terms of oh, I

(01:52:36):
think you gotta I think you gotta wear it now,
like and uh, yeah, what's like j T the Brick.
Remember a buddy of mine told me he came up
and introduced himself at Super Bowl Radio Row and they're like,
they're like, j T the Brick. It's like, it's like,
is it the or the Yeah, exactly. And when people
talked to him, they called they'll call him his full name, Brick. Yeah,

(01:52:58):
what's up, j T the Brick, that's Brick.

Speaker 1 (01:53:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:53:01):
So I just wonder for Sky what they call him.
And I know only it takes a whack job to
think about those things. But I'm not denying that I'm
a whack job. There's no think I know. I don't
know what I don't want to know. The answer that's definitive,
make love to me Sky or make love to me Mike.

Speaker 5 (01:53:18):
It's penn not pencil, by the way, for my for
my answer, as a matter of fact, will go sharpie
to make sure it's really written down.

Speaker 6 (01:53:27):
Oh man, I just I don't know, Man, i'd some
weird ass thggs sometimes enter my mind.

Speaker 1 (01:53:32):
I'm just curious. You're a treasure. Oh yeah, well, thank you.
I appreciate that. But I would you say I'm not
even a legend or in my own mind or oh no,
no household name of my own home? And why would
I slight you?

Speaker 15 (01:53:42):
Like?

Speaker 6 (01:53:42):
But but would you call me? You said your treasure?
Oh yeah, you canceled. You're a whack job, but we
love you, God bless but I do.

Speaker 1 (01:53:49):
I just kind of wonder because if you had that
nicknamed you, you know.

Speaker 6 (01:53:54):
There, yeah, yeah, do you roll with it? Like, hey, man,
what's your name? Oh you're I'm Mike.

Speaker 1 (01:54:00):
You sound like Skymike, and that's and then all of
a sudden, before you know it, you're making love and
she's calling you Sky.

Speaker 5 (01:54:07):
I don't know, just curious, but I just actually actually
would be kind of understood to wing man Mike and
see how this goes.

Speaker 1 (01:54:13):
We go to see who pulls.

Speaker 5 (01:54:14):
Yeah, I was gonna say, I think that I might
actually have to see this through now, right, I want
to be I never thought I never thought I would say.

Speaker 1 (01:54:22):
That Sky, what the hell? Yeah, try some new things
in life, right, you might get out of your comfort zone.
D that's it. There you go. Hey, there's great ladies
here there are When does that happen? And then then
all of a sudden they come over they want Sky's on. Yeah, Sky, dude, Sky, Mike. Okay.

Speaker 6 (01:54:39):
I just it's been on my mind and I just
wanted to share with you guys. I want to share
with the class. We're glad you tell of.

Speaker 5 (01:54:46):
Course, you know, of course, and you definitely you definitely
showed and you're definitely told.

Speaker 1 (01:54:51):
Yes I did.

Speaker 6 (01:54:53):
Oh, I brought the break, and I wanted to bring
the people into the locker room. Damn Sky, Like we.

Speaker 1 (01:54:59):
Said, friends and family, you know, we're all here.

Speaker 6 (01:55:01):
Maybe if we have a lady that calls in about
the ass or something, we could ask her, well, would
you call him Sky or Mike?

Speaker 1 (01:55:05):
God?

Speaker 5 (01:55:07):
Real God, Now now it's now it's gonna be interesting
because I'm actually gonna see if a lady does take
you apart.

Speaker 1 (01:55:13):
Actually, as a matter of fact, I'm rooting for it
to happen. Now, please make it happen. What you call it?
Two one two five seven ninety what if she calls
up as I dated it for a year at all
I called him was sky.

Speaker 5 (01:55:25):
Oh God, then we get the personal affairs out there, Yes,
then then that would probably have to be a a
Sean hold down the fort. I'm going to get them.
I'm in the middle of a traffic report. Traffic is
not as important right now.

Speaker 1 (01:55:39):
Trust me.

Speaker 5 (01:55:42):
Whatever the traffic desk is, they're going to understand, they're
going to understand, trust me. And funny enough, he just
walked right by the studio.

Speaker 1 (01:55:50):
You never know, over the window, a little sliver of
a window we have right here.

Speaker 5 (01:55:55):
I saw im walk by Tennessee, you know, creamsicle, orange shirt.

Speaker 6 (01:56:00):
See, there's a method of my madness. Dan, I've distracted
you so much, you're no longer disdained Anny.

Speaker 1 (01:56:06):
He's happy. And he's a singer too.

Speaker 5 (01:56:08):
By the way, I found that out because I worked
out downstairs once and then like I had already showered.
I was, you know, lacing up my shoes about to leave,
and he had music in the shower and he's singing
along to it. So I was like, it's like, all right, interesting, Yeah,
I mean some look, if the mood hits me, then
then maybe I'll belt out of tune or two in
the shower the car does shower.

Speaker 1 (01:56:30):
Yeah, they're not in the not in the toilet though.

Speaker 5 (01:56:32):
It's like it's like, you know, you go to any
type of service, either Sunday or if you know, if
you're if you're of the Chosen One faith, there's always
somebody who thinks they can sing.

Speaker 1 (01:56:42):
It's like the person who thinks a funny the hymnal. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:56:46):
Yeah, it's like two or three you know, pews behind
you and they think they can sing, and you're finally like,
I know that we're in like we're not supposed to
be judgmental here, but yeah, yeah I'm judging you, like
you can't sing.

Speaker 1 (01:56:57):
Yeah, but they're blurting it out. They're exuberant. Just hospel's real,
just just hum along. See how I'm trying to keep
everything right today. So maybe you want to muzzle on
the choir on this, on this congregation.

Speaker 5 (01:57:08):
I mean, look, we all worship in our own ways,
but you know you prefer to worship in silence that
I prefer to do the the the humming along there
you go, I feel you. So I just wanted you
to think about that for a while I'll think, and
I know you're going to tell what's your tell the
callers what to tell them.

Speaker 1 (01:57:25):
We'll get to you next, Yes, but we will. It's
gonna be it's gonna be rapid fire.

Speaker 11 (01:57:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:57:29):
But what do you say though, that's you don't say
we're gonna get to you next. That's not how you
approach this.

Speaker 1 (01:57:33):
Man, Carl Mike, Hey, I see you, I see you,
I see.

Speaker 7 (01:57:42):
It is.

Speaker 1 (01:57:42):
What are you doing? You're sorry? See you're so disdained.

Speaker 5 (01:57:45):
Man comes, I'm seeing red and I can't even see straight.

Speaker 1 (01:57:49):
You know what, what what can we do?

Speaker 5 (01:57:50):
And now you're wondering if Sky Mike gets called Sky
and the works are gummed? Man, the they it is overflowing,
how much they are. But yes, we will do that'll
do right here. It is the Sean Salisbury Show on
a Fight Song Friday, Sports Talk seven ninety Hey.

Speaker 6 (01:58:06):
Guys, dn M auto Leasing, D and M auto Leasing,
dmudoleasing dot com is where you go. You know, when
you talk to executives that the things you look for
and when you hear these commercials or in the past,
and that's happened before a guy who's always have thought that, well,
it's renting when you lease a vehicle, well, when you're

(01:58:27):
not giving any money down and your payment's cheaper. Yeah,
Or when you go spend an eighty four month bank
loan like a mortgage for your vehicle and you come
back and say, well, I'm upside down now and I don't.

Speaker 1 (01:58:40):
Have any value in it. You want to talk about renting.

Speaker 6 (01:58:44):
You want to talk about no equity when you lease
a vehicle that ain't renting and it's sure seck not
it renting at DNM Leasing. So I'm at my home
yesterday and they there's an influence. So they delivered my
brand new Tahoe to the house. I thought I'd go
back and pick it up. They're even doing that. They
deliver it to your door and grab on a dog
on just a simple customer service which matters. They've been

(01:59:06):
in business almost fifty years and fifty percent. You know
there's fifty thousand should I say, happy customers and clients
on the road for DNM Leasing.

Speaker 1 (01:59:15):
So this isn't rental.

Speaker 6 (01:59:17):
This is lease who doesn't want to keep the down
payment in their pocket and who doesn't want lower monthly payments.
And as an influencer and a guy that gets to
speak on behalf of DNM Leasing. Man, I can tell
you customer services an all time high, and I love
my vehicle and I can't wait to show people on
social media exactly who DNM auto Leasing is. So it's
DNM Audo Leasing, dmauto Leasing dot Com, dmauto leasing dot Com.

(01:59:42):
This isn't rental, this is called leasing and it may
very well be the best thing you can do when
it comes to getting your vehicle Dmaudoleasing dot Com.

Speaker 3 (01:59:53):
The Sean Salisbury Show continues on your game console. Listen
to Sports Talk seven on any device with our free
iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (02:00:13):
Football Friday, Fight Song Friday.

Speaker 5 (02:00:16):
We're in between making you feel good heading into the
weekend as it is Sean Salisbury Show, Sports Talk seven
ninety Astros eight to four losers last night to the Yankees.

Speaker 1 (02:00:26):
They dropped that series.

Speaker 5 (02:00:28):
A huge series coming up against the Rangers that will
get started later on tonight. The Cowboys lose to the
Eagles twenty four to twenty to open up the NFL season.
The Texans gonna get on the practice field and then
fly out tomorrow to La to take on the Rams
to start up their season. Seven one three, two, one
two five seven ninety is the number. I know that

(02:00:50):
a couple of you want to get in on the Astros,
so we'll do that right now. Carl and Dickinson leading
us off. Carl, good morning, Oh.

Speaker 21 (02:00:58):
Guys, I've seen something very very positive last night. Our
regular Astros are bringing it. They're getting on base, they're
doing all the great things. Okay, Alvarez the momentum. That
game should have been winnable last night. What the problem
is if those three knuckleheads in the I think there's

(02:01:19):
seventh and eighth maybe or six, seven and eight. Those
three guys troumo Euriahs, who else, Cam Smith, they're killing us.
If they would have got on base one of them,
two of them said, then Alvarez came in and got
that big whack we would have got.

Speaker 1 (02:01:39):
That game would have changed.

Speaker 21 (02:01:41):
Those three guys are killing the Astros. I'm telling you,
I saw something really good. I saw the Astros coming back,
our regular stars you know of the past. But these
three knuckleheads are gonna ruin our season. And you people
say it's not the coach's fault.

Speaker 16 (02:02:00):
It is the coach's fault.

Speaker 21 (02:02:03):
Now, that move he made getting cam Smith out and
putting Sanchez in his Fanciz hit the home run.

Speaker 1 (02:02:09):
He did his job, okay, so that was great.

Speaker 21 (02:02:12):
But bringing in that knuckle head with a base of
loaded who's already struck out three or.

Speaker 16 (02:02:17):
Four times in a row.

Speaker 21 (02:02:18):
I think he went old for five last night.

Speaker 1 (02:02:21):
Rias whatever his name is.

Speaker 21 (02:02:23):
They're killing the Astros. We got to make a change.
Wangled triple a guy up, you know, the guy from LSU,
somebody that can hit. I didn't mean to go off, man,
but I'm pissed off.

Speaker 2 (02:02:35):
We could have won that game last night.

Speaker 21 (02:02:37):
Al Rez, you're doing a great job.

Speaker 2 (02:02:39):
My brother got you.

Speaker 1 (02:02:40):
I appreciate it, Carl.

Speaker 5 (02:02:41):
I mean, I'm not gonna get upset with the bottom
end of the order guys, because if you get anything
out of them, that's bonus. It's the guys in the
middle of the order that are hurting you right now.
Jose L Twova is hurting you. Christian Walker is hurting you.
Jan Diaz is hurting you. And to his point too
about bringing in hey Zeus Sanchez comes in facing a riety,

(02:03:02):
takes it into the Crawford boxes.

Speaker 1 (02:03:04):
That helps you out.

Speaker 5 (02:03:05):
Taylor Tremmell too, with that double there in the ninth inning,
that sets you up with an opportunity to even have
a chance to tie up that ballgame last night. So
I mean he was able to help you out arius
he said or miss, and we knew that about him.
He was brought in more for his glove and somebody
that could provide some depth there at the position. It's
not necessarily about trying to count on him every single day,

(02:03:26):
but with his glove, you do have him in the lineup.
But no, it's more about the middle of the order
guys than it is about the guys in the back
end of the of the starting nine.

Speaker 1 (02:03:36):
Mike and Richmond. You're gonna close out the hour? Mike,
what's going on?

Speaker 17 (02:03:40):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (02:03:41):
I s wanted to make a point about the hitting,
he blended batting coach.

Speaker 1 (02:03:46):
First of all, we're fifth ranked, fifth.

Speaker 22 (02:03:50):
In the league in hitting an average. Okay, that's who
about it. Having an houris a year. And then how
much time.

Speaker 1 (02:03:57):
Parades has been at Let's not go there with that.

Speaker 22 (02:04:00):
And the thing is about the Yankees, and we beat
them two three in New York maybe two three.

Speaker 8 (02:04:05):
I would like to win the serious here, but it
is what it is.

Speaker 1 (02:04:07):
The Yankees are good, rob Don's good.

Speaker 22 (02:04:10):
And uh as far as the actions go. We all
know how talented they are, we know how the postseason is,
will be there and hopefully with all injuries, whatever we
get back, we're.

Speaker 8 (02:04:21):
Going to go in one hundred percent and see what
we can do.

Speaker 16 (02:04:24):
And it is what it is.

Speaker 2 (02:04:25):
Let's not put the blame on any button one person.

Speaker 1 (02:04:27):
I'll have nothing. Listen, appreciate its call. I don't know.

Speaker 6 (02:04:30):
I don't think our caller when called in about hitting coach,
was putting just the blame on one person. I'm a
big believer it's players always take more accountability. You should.
Now when a manager's decision to win, to play somebody win,
to pinch it, when to pitch him, that's that's where
he's got to take the accountability. My simple thing was
that if you're not getting better, then you've got to
look at all your coaching staff and every like the

(02:04:51):
offensive line of Texas. As you did and get better,
got worse, you make you make a change if you
feel I'd just simply say, for me, evaluate I always
put more more us on the player. You got to
bat in your hand, Joe spotted doesn't the hitting coach. Now,
if your philosophy is not getting better and then then
Joe needs to make the decision on it.

Speaker 1 (02:05:09):
Okay, are we best moving forward?

Speaker 6 (02:05:10):
But right now the struggle and you talk about you know,
singles and the long ball and power and you know
driving in runs. They have struggled to get the clutch
hit on a regular basis this year. It's pretty simple.

Speaker 1 (02:05:23):
I don't know. The remedy is a lot tougher than
the conflict. We know what the conflict is.

Speaker 5 (02:05:28):
They just haven't been able to find the hans just
to the test on a consistent basis this year. Hey,
you got runners in the scoring position, put the ball
in play. It's not much coaching, and it doesn't need
to be said. They know that, they understand what the
situation is. There is a runner on second, no oubt,
it's got to get him to third. Right, however, it
does two run job.

Speaker 1 (02:05:46):
Yeah, I'm with you.

Speaker 5 (02:05:48):
This is more on the players than it is anybody
giving any sort of tutelage. All right, let's get into
the NFL. Let's get into the Texans, because Sean I
got a way to turn those frowns upside down.

Speaker 1 (02:05:59):
I have a frown today. You have good? Yeah, no
frowns here, You're good, especially this guy Mike story and
though don't break you up. That set us on the
right path, right, charis Elle did good for you. Let's go.
You're You're who you are for a reason. We love
you for it. Dan, I'm, I'm you know what. I
just aimed a place. Dan, Well, you do a good job.

(02:06:20):
You do a good job.

Speaker 5 (02:06:21):

Okay, let's do this. Sean Salisbury.

Speaker 2 (02:07:55):
To USC Trouphs longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 3 (02:07:58):
Dan Matthews, Steve Jesus. This is the Sewan Salsbury Show.
On the Seawan Salisbury Show.

Speaker 5 (02:08:09):
We need a mood booster too, because the Astros lose
that series to the Yankees dropping the finale last night
eight to four. They're gonna get the Rangers in Arlington
over the weekend, the Cowboys and Eagles. Last night in
Philadelphia it was the defending Super Bowl champs taking it
twenty four twenty and the Texans is going to be
taken on the Rams Sunday in LA to open up

(02:08:32):
their NFL season. Sean as I mentioned, it's fight song Friday,
and we've had a lot of good ones today.

Speaker 1 (02:08:36):
I haven't heard USC yet, I haven't heard Dead in Surprise,
I haven't heard tribute to Troy Tripoli. And you're just
staying for the Trojan.

Speaker 5 (02:08:46):
I'll throw up the V for victory too, and I
know that Nick Skerfield out there will throw it up too.

Speaker 6 (02:08:50):
I don't know why you guys want to hate. I
just showed up trying to hope that my you know,
my tropes is my lowly tros. We're just trying to
survive after scoring seven many three last week. Guy, Yeah, school, Yeah,
we're just trying to you know, we're just trying to
show up, play hard, take it one game at a time,
Lord Will, and we'll be ready to play the next week.

Speaker 5 (02:09:09):
Well, I mean, did you go, you know, cry your
crocodile tears to Tommy trouch a tough statue, tro I mean,
come on, dude, Yeah, I mean, don't worry about the
eight Heismans in the building.

Speaker 1 (02:09:18):
It's not that big a deal.

Speaker 6 (02:09:19):
I mean, but who's counting, you know what I'm saying, Dan,
I mean, really, who's counting the eight Heismans and heritage Hall?

Speaker 1 (02:09:25):
The sword in the National Championship? I'm not counting.

Speaker 5 (02:09:27):
I mean, would you the sword that they have that
you know the players will touch when they go out
to the practice field.

Speaker 1 (02:09:32):
Yeah, I touched it once. Was I allowed to do that?

Speaker 16 (02:09:34):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (02:09:34):
Yeah you did. And you're probably the reason we haven't
won a national championship in a while. Dan, thing it
was a couple of years ago. Well, there you go.

Speaker 6 (02:09:41):
You've got coaches fired, you got Lincoln Riley's defense not playing.
Way to go, Dan, stay away from my campus.

Speaker 1 (02:09:46):
But it's cool. You two guys.

Speaker 6 (02:09:47):
Don't put any love or respect on the trunch. We're
just a lowly private school in the middle of Los Angeles.
Tough times, hard times right there. You know we're hard
time spread. You're a real dusty road. Yeah, I mean, yeah,
hard time he is spread in Tell you what, Yeah? Yeah,
I don't know why you guys just completely disrespect. It's okay,
don't play our fight song. We'll just play Georgia Southern.

(02:10:09):
This week I win by fifty, But not that big
a deal.

Speaker 1 (02:10:12):
Clay Clay Hilton's there, isn't he not now? Oh? Oh,
you beat it at George he was? Is he still there?
I think he is.

Speaker 6 (02:10:20):
Well, then we'll probably score six. Play good Houston family.
His dad was a great offensive line coach and stuff
love coach. Yeah, he used to take like love connection
questions on here. They called him the love coach.

Speaker 1 (02:10:32):
Kim Hilton.

Speaker 6 (02:10:32):
Yeah, and Kim was a hell of the hell of
a good coach. And play Clay's got He's Clay's good coach.
He just sometimes it can be overwhelming in that gig.
But do you guys know what triple you don't worry
about it. You go and play, you know, go play
Georgia Southern's fight song. What's a big deal? Maybe Missouri
State's after last week.

Speaker 1 (02:10:47):
I don't know. Play lsu is. We got a bunch
of that.

Speaker 6 (02:10:50):
We got a bunch of seventy five Hawks in the
building that are LSU fans here. I mean, you walk
into this game, may give the people what they want. Yeah,
I mean, yeah, and you guys, but we're just still
lowly private school in the middle of Los Angeles. Dan, Well,
who's counting all the national championships, all the All Americans,
all the guys who've gone pro, any eight Heisman trophies.

Speaker 1 (02:11:09):
I'm not score. Yeah, We're just we only we hung
on a team we're supposed to be.

Speaker 6 (02:11:14):
You know, you burdied. We didn't just burdy it. We
albatross to par five last week. We only scored seventy three.
But then again, who's counting? White songs are not just
made for college football though, because okay, here we go.

Speaker 1 (02:11:25):
Are just to fire me up? Right now we go?
Are you ready? Yeah?

Speaker 6 (02:11:28):
I mean you guys have already tried to, you know,
to hurt my feelings by not playing the Trojans get
to my sensitive side.

Speaker 1 (02:11:35):
It's cool. No, no, no, no, no, I'm just pouting
my way through. Yeah, I'm ready. Are you ready? Yeah?
Fired up? You know, baby, it's not that the guy
that used to sit in this chair. It ended when
he walked out that door. Well, the Texans will be
on one. N Texans will be done. They're on one. Wait,

(02:11:56):
walk in here and convince you to this The home opener.
The man who belts out this tune, we'll be singing
the national damn right he will. So you guys are okay?
Starting felt cowboy hat I told I told my guy
to Lima. So you guys are okay. You guys are okay,
playing a song to get some and one. What happened

(02:12:19):
to the field? I can't control you, know how we
were talking about evaluating coaches. I gotta valuate you two
guys and your choice of music. That's fine, Please you
take it. Don't come back here to me, got broad shoulders.
Don't come back here whining to me when you goer
and one and everybody thinks it's because you played this
damn song. Hold on now, beltic play.

Speaker 6 (02:12:42):
By the way, Lilima, we're thinking about you this morning, buddy,
and you know why, and we love you and hope
you're doing well. But also as much as I love you,
the fact that you reintroduced this to this show.

Speaker 1 (02:12:56):
Welcome to the greatest city of it. You know what
we're gonna do triple in Houston, Texas.

Speaker 6 (02:13:03):
Let's see Brian jump jumped into the Brian jumped into
the uh, you know, oil and gas business. In March right,
Dan came in, Dan, what are you got going on
in October? Because it sure ain't gonna be here, man,
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (02:13:18):
Maybe maybe I'll throw on a hard hat and be
working in an oil field somewhere who knows.

Speaker 1 (02:13:23):
Right that where the gushers are. That's it, you feel me? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (02:13:27):
And then me and Li Lima will become Johnny hansapp Yeah,
we'll become John Hamm and Billy Bob Thornton. He'll be
the Billy Bob Thornton, He'll be the John Hands. Well,
let's let's not get too full of ourselves. Okay, Okay,
I'm just a lowly trojan right now, I got you, man,
But this song blows. They're all in one. They'll get
the twenty seven rams beat him because of this song.

(02:13:47):
If you think that song is bad. It was either
the second or the third year. In the preseason they
tried to roll out like a new Texans fight song
and it went something along the lines of Houston, Texas
Sins go down the field, Houston and it And I
just remember being at that preseason game and everybody's looking around,
They're like, the hell is this?

Speaker 7 (02:14:09):
Well?

Speaker 6 (02:14:09):
You guys, go ahead, hopefully the Texans by the time
they get on the plane for Sunday's game, which leave tomorrow.
Usually let's leave u Saturday the day before is uh,
hopefully they've got this out of their mind, which you
two just brought to the table and ruined their opener.

Speaker 5 (02:14:25):
No, it's it's gonna be the complete opposite. Derek Steinland
is gonna lock down Pooka. The offensive line is gonna
gel together. You're gonna you're going to have the edges
getting after Matthew Stafford.

Speaker 1 (02:14:38):
Yeah, all of it.

Speaker 5 (02:14:40):
As a matter of fact, just got now, just got
a text, hey man heading out to the practice field.

Speaker 1 (02:14:45):
That fired us up. Let's go fired up? From who?

Speaker 15 (02:14:50):
What?

Speaker 1 (02:14:51):
Do you never reveal my source? Seventh grade Woodlands youth Football.

Speaker 5 (02:14:53):
I can't reveal my sources. I say this, that song,
that song blows. It's ran its core, Okay, thank you? Yeah, yeah,
that song blows. Look I if you insult that song,
you insult Clay Walker, insult the city of Houston.

Speaker 6 (02:15:11):
I'm sure the city of Houston is gonna get over it.
Here's what I do know, and I and I love
Clay Walker.

Speaker 5 (02:15:16):
Do you think Clay though kind of stole a gimmick
because the blackfelt cowboy hat was Clint Black.

Speaker 6 (02:15:21):
Okay, Well, Clint Black was the original blackfelt cowboy, and
they'll get you know, black felt that black felt cowboy. Yeah,
the black felt hat cowboy, no doubt, it's no deabt.
He'd been doing it forever, the spring in summer, Clint Black.
But I can tell you this, I like Clay Walker,
love him, but like anything, Okay, I like uh, Chris

(02:15:41):
Stapleton a lot.

Speaker 1 (02:15:42):
I love Chris Stapleton, but his Richard Petty hat.

Speaker 6 (02:15:47):
Give me, give me one of his songs with whiskey
in it, Okay. With that being said, one of my
favorite all times. So I love it, the soul in
his voice. But we heard it so many times there
was a time I needed a break from Tennessee. Whiskey hut.
White Horse, yeah yeah, right horse, yea, thank you, thank you?

Speaker 1 (02:16:04):
Okay. White Horse is another one that I went to
fire up. But you can love a guy and at
some point say, you know what the cut, let's slow
it down a little bit. Playing it too much this? Well,
why is that on him? It's just the popularity other
people are playing. I know that I love it, But
my point is it's the same with this all these years.

Speaker 6 (02:16:23):
Can we get a new Maybe it's time we'll bring
it back once in a while, you know, maybe the
honor at twenty five years from now.

Speaker 1 (02:16:30):
Okay, it's on blows.

Speaker 5 (02:16:33):
I mean, Texas Run, Texas Ultimate War, you know, all
of them. Matt Thomas's favorite people and the Tennessee whiskey
can never get old. But you know they were playing
it so much like cash. Give me some other Stapleton cuts.
They're sold in these other songs. Clay Walker's got other cuts.
We need somebody new to create a theme song for
the next generation.

Speaker 1 (02:16:51):
What's it? So you should probably leave? That's a good one. Yeah,
you should probably lead you. No, I'm back to the
Texans and you're still on Chris Stapleton. Why why not
to go?

Speaker 6 (02:17:01):
Lets him, let him create one for you. I would
love that, you know, get him in there or somebody
like Tommy Tommy Red or something some.

Speaker 1 (02:17:07):
Some sort of connection to the city of Houston. Let's go.

Speaker 5 (02:17:10):
But I mean it's also I mean, because I know
that like Slim Thug and a bunch of them came
up with a couple of different versions of a Texans
song that had the NFL on Fox as like kind
of the.

Speaker 1 (02:17:20):
Single track on it, So I mean, you know, something
like that.

Speaker 6 (02:17:24):
Yeah, but just you know, hopefully they'll overcome your in
Triple E's stupidity for playing that song today.

Speaker 1 (02:17:30):
I don't look at the Texans will take care of
their business.

Speaker 5 (02:17:33):
Just hey, look man, you boosted my morale earlier, you move,
you boosted my mood, right, I just I tried to
do it.

Speaker 1 (02:17:40):
I feel like I did it. Appreciate it.

Speaker 6 (02:17:42):
You're soft selling me here, but I feel like I
did it. I'm underplaying it a little bit. Downplay, a
little downplay. When slip Thug gets fat, if he ever
gets fat, does he change his name?

Speaker 1 (02:17:55):
I mean I'm trying to think, Uh, probably not.

Speaker 6 (02:17:58):
I mean, if he gets up to like ninety, well
as tall as he is, he can he can't carry it,
carry it, so that's fair. But if he got to
the point where he was, like, you know, the performance
was struggling because he got big, will we change his name?

Speaker 5 (02:18:10):
It's where it's like, uh, you know, like like little
bow Wow soon enough just became bow Wow because he
was lil. Yeah, he wouldn't, he wouldn't lill anymore.

Speaker 1 (02:18:18):
Right, So do we call him fat thug if it
ever gets to that point, I don't know that's that
doesn't stay fat. That almost sounds like it does stay
slim thug, because well, that's just kind of a thing,
even if he's four hundred pounds. Like my dad was
really tall, and my grandma called him shorty, but just because,
you know, for the kind, just because made it. That's
that's the way she looked at it.

Speaker 6 (02:18:38):
So I'm just wondering if slim Thug ever becomes fat,
if we call his name fat thug.

Speaker 5 (02:18:44):
Oh, it's like Totty Cicero, like you know, it could
be with the pH. I'm just curious. You know, I
got a lot of curiosity today in case you hadn't noticed.

Speaker 1 (02:18:52):
Fat not.

Speaker 5 (02:18:56):
It's never it's never good to that thrown at you.
He's fat, but it ain't with a pH. Yeah, that's
a bad thing. Trust me, I have no doubt. I've
lived both lives. I've found that out in the worst way.

Speaker 1 (02:19:07):
John, John Daniel. We'll get to you on the other side.
Uh why am I even here? Do we get to
you on the other side? Do you know what else?
Tell them, Dan, tell them what we're going to take
their call? Your own phrase. Yeah, how come we got
to remind you of your phrase your go to because
I'm on like four hours of sleep. Okay, so what
do you say to them? We'll thank you. In the conversation,

(02:19:28):
Triple E, what's going on with dan O today? I'm good?
Yeah you are? Yeah, I'm good. I'm powering through you
really are. I'm grinding through the five innings now, Bob.
I'm grinding for it, grinding for you.

Speaker 5 (02:19:39):
That's it, you know, brother, only for you, TRIPLEI in
the audience, full service operation around here. This is Sean
Salisbury show Sports Talk seven ninety oh trasing wealth. They'll
be grinding for you too. I love them and I
love the way they teach me when it comes to
finances and retirement. I think we all have an idea
what we want, what that picture looks like. But as

(02:20:00):
your financial advisor, your wealth advisor, your local trusted financial fiduciary,
or whoever that might be, who you're leaning on, how's
their pizazz and spice for you, and how's their dedication
to making sure that they are standing shoulder to shoulder
with you and doing what's necessary to prepare you, whether
you're in retirement, preparing for retirement, or even thinking about it.

Speaker 1 (02:20:22):
It's never too early to get started, right. What are
you trying to build? Legacy?

Speaker 6 (02:20:26):
Legacy money, generational wealth. Do you understand for a one
k rollover if you're at the last few years of
a job and you're going into another one before you retire,
do you understand what it's going to take, the risk tolerance,
what it's going to take to stay retired money? People
are living longer. What if you're retired thirty years, you've
prepared for that. What if it's five years? What if
you retire late? There's a lot of what IFFs. But
when you have what ifs, if you've got a conflict

(02:20:47):
and not knowing which way to go, what if there's
an answer to the test through those what ifs? And
it's tradtion wealth that they there. Listen, we talk about
planning vacations. Think about when you plan My son's about
to get married. I'm thinking, man, you got to plan
all this and prepare for it. Are you doing the
same for retirement? Don't you owe to yourself? I can
tell you this peace of mind is one of the
most important things we all have in life, let alone

Speaker 1 (02:21:53):
The Jean Salisbury Show continues.

Speaker 5 (02:22:17):
Sean Salisbury's show, Fight Song Friday Sports Talk seven ninety.
Astros lose eight to four last night to the Yankees.
They dropped that series two out of three, five and
five homestand for them. Now they head to Arlington to
start up a road trip with three against the Rangers.
The Eagles beat the Cowboys last night twenty four to

(02:22:38):
twenty to open up the NFL season. The Texans is
going to take on the Rams Sunday in LA to
fire up their season seven one three two one two
five seven ninety. Here's where involving people in the conversation start, Sean,
because we start with John Alivill, John, good morning, good.

Speaker 1 (02:22:56):
Morning, John, Yo, good man, good light.

Speaker 7 (02:23:00):
Hey.

Speaker 14 (02:23:01):
I don't know, you know, been tied up stuff.

Speaker 15 (02:23:03):
But let's.

Speaker 16 (02:23:07):
Sean Dan, what uh yeah, let's oh wait, yeah, that's
the second worst freaking fight song. Don't ever, Sean, don't
ever let them play it again or write them a
check and stuff, because man, I can't be going through
this clay Walker stuff anymore.

Speaker 14 (02:23:24):
I mean, I thought we got to do it. That
was when when Leman decided to go.

Speaker 1 (02:23:28):
Play it again. We'll play it again. Yeah, I just
I want to know we can play again. I want
to give the Texans a fighting chance. Let's play it again.

Speaker 6 (02:23:35):
I want to give the Texans a fighting chance, and
playing that song doesn't give them their best chance to win.

Speaker 1 (02:23:39):
I disagree.

Speaker 16 (02:23:39):
That's the second worst song in Houston sports history.

Speaker 11 (02:23:44):
You know, so let's talk about it.

Speaker 16 (02:23:49):
Do you think they do anything with dak.

Speaker 1 (02:23:52):
What do you mean? Oh, the suspension like instigating.

Speaker 15 (02:23:58):
Dark Prescott.

Speaker 16 (02:23:59):
Let's let's look at him, Dak Prescott. I think personally
they knew exactly what they were doing. They got Jalen
Carter to react. Look, man, Jalen Carter's Jama Carter's the hook.

Speaker 15 (02:24:13):
He's from the hood. He's short tempered, he's quick. He
ain't pretty boy, Dak Prescott and all that.

Speaker 16 (02:24:19):
Prescott initiated it. He instigated it. He spit I under stint.
Do I condone what Carter did?

Speaker 1 (02:24:27):
They don't know.

Speaker 16 (02:24:28):
Carter should not have done that.

Speaker 8 (02:24:31):
He got provoked.

Speaker 6 (02:24:33):
Well, there is a big difference in staring at somebody
and then turning while they're a hand. I'm not giving listen.
Prescott should know better. And if it was a bait job,
which it was, it appears that way. But he looked
down to spit on the ground, which I see happen
all too often. You know, it's nasty, but I get
people gotta spit. But and then he looked up and
he had that smirk, and then Carter come walking over

(02:24:54):
and spit right in front the ref on the shed.
To me, there is a difference in spitting on the ground.
I know the intention when Prescott's doing that I'm gonna
get your eye, I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna antagonize you.
But then to respond by spitting right in the guy's chest.
I can't treat if they do get suspended, both of them,
that you can't. One's got to be longer than the
other because the retaliatory you want to spend the guys

(02:25:14):
to spit right on a guy, to me is still
has different oby. It'd be the same as me threatening
to hit you and then you fall back and and
and and hurt your hamstring because you tried to get
away from me, threatening to heat when I didn't, and
then you come back and punch you know, you punch
me right in the face and cole cock me when
I'm not looking. Well, that's a you problem, not a
meat problem. So uh well, I don't consider both the same.

(02:25:37):
Although I know what he was trying to instigate, and
he did and it worked, even though they still lost
the game.

Speaker 16 (02:25:43):
No, yeah, it it worked beautifully. I mean it because
who would have ever thought? I mean, because all we
keep hearing about you know, I think it's funny, is hell.
I'm not gonna get you know, I'll get to that,
but Carter.

Speaker 6 (02:25:56):
Yes, eight games, no pay, and that that's never gonna happen,
though I understand that he'll be lucky maybe two at
the most, he's gonna get one, but he not getting
more than two games for that. And Prescott maybe a
fine or maybe I don't think you're gonna instigate. Maybe
a fine for instigating it. But it's like anything else.

(02:26:16):
The first guy never gets caught.

Speaker 1 (02:26:18):
Hey, John, it's always the second guy, John, And you
know that, Yeah, John, John, real quick man, because we
got others. We got to get you. Yeah, Cede Lamb.

Speaker 16 (02:26:30):
The diving catch, I'm not gonna count that and put
that on him. But the dropball in between the numbers
in the first quarter and then the second and the
second and the third in the fourth quarter, the two
that the other two that he dropped, I think is
freaking hilarious. Good job there, Dallas Cowboys. It's hilarious.

Speaker 11 (02:26:51):
Guys.

Speaker 1 (02:26:51):
Have a great week, brother, aybody appreciate it.

Speaker 6 (02:26:54):
And I went to Ceedee Lamb's credit to complete blame
for it. He said, I'm working my butt off for
these moments, and I take full responsibility. I got to
make those play. He and I'm paraphrasing a little bit.
He took one hundred percent responsibility about place. He's got
to make it, but he normally makes That's.

Speaker 5 (02:27:10):
What it just seems like with the Cowboys too, like
there's always something missing, Like there's always something off. And
I mean, I'm with you guys. On that final one,
you leave the feet, I understand it. It hit your hands,
you need to catch it. But that's also that would
have been a hell of a catch to make. It's
the other ones that it's like, hey man, you're gonna
be paid as one of the top guys in the league.
You put a ball on the ground every once in

(02:27:31):
a while. I understand that, but you paid like that.
You got to be about as automatic as you can be, right,
and you know what.

Speaker 1 (02:27:37):
I assure you he will. It's a hell.

Speaker 6 (02:27:39):
You know, it's a bummer because also hyper focus, it's
your rival. It's a it's on a Thursday night game,
the opener. And but but guys like him don't even
when they drop a ball in practice, it bothers them.
You know those guys I'm talking And I played with
Chris Carter and with Steve Largent. They took it just
as serious and practice because they knew you can't practice

(02:28:01):
average and be good, you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (02:28:03):
So I'm assuming that Ceedee Lamb doesn't lay that on
the ground very often. You and I both know that.

Speaker 6 (02:28:08):
But unfortunately it came for him and his Cowboys at
the wrong time. And in truth, he's the best player
at his position more than anybody on that team. Isn't theirs.
Prescott's a really good player. But if you're ranking receivers,
you ain't getting out of your first five or six
without mentioning Ceedee Lamb. I am getting past the first
five or six without mentioning Dak Prescott, even though I

(02:28:28):
respect Prescott's game. So a Hall pass, he don't want
a Hall pass, he takes a can. That's when I
know a guy gets it. And Ceed's had to go
through some growing pains as well. But when I know
a guy strives not to just be good, but to
be great because the great ones. The truth of the
matter is the great ones.

Speaker 1 (02:28:45):
What do you have?

Speaker 11 (02:28:46):
Three?

Speaker 6 (02:28:46):
They considered it three drops? The third one on the
diving attempt, it hits both hands. Receivers expect to catch it.
The great ones do. I'll bet you he doesn't have
three drops. The rest of the Year on Clean Catches.

Speaker 5 (02:28:56):
Well, gonna be definitely hitting up the jugs gun even more,
that's for sure. Larry Daniel John see y'all will involve
him right here. It is the Shawn Salisbury Show, Sports
Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 3 (02:29:07):
We're fat The Seawn Salisbury Show continued.

Speaker 5 (02:29:21):
You know what we do around here on a Friday,
Sean Salisbury Show, Sports Talking seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (02:29:26):
You don't play the USC fight song. That's it. Don't
control that. I'm sorry, I'm not trying to put people
on the spot here. Well, I do play freaking USC
fight song. One of these breaks could be a fight,
could be. But I'm in a great mood today. You
are Jesse, who's got the biggest point differential in the
country right now? USC.

Speaker 6 (02:29:45):
I think so seventy three to six, seventy three thirteen,
Oh god, we're only sixty in the plus site.

Speaker 1 (02:29:51):
We're good. Like I'm trying to milk everything came. Yeah,
we play teams that are a little more freaking than
all others.

Speaker 5 (02:29:59):
There you go, brother, No, I totally get it. Get
college football this weekend. Buy you bucket, by the way,
gonna be over on KPRC nine to fifty You'll have
the Longhorns against San Jose State tomorrow morning, ten am
right here on Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (02:30:13):
Who plays for the Old Oakan Bucket? Is that Minnesota Perdue?
I think? Is that Minnesota in Wisconsin? Wisconsin?

Speaker 7 (02:30:18):
Is there?

Speaker 1 (02:30:18):
They playing for the what the Old Oakan Bucket?

Speaker 7 (02:30:20):
I think so?

Speaker 5 (02:30:21):
And then like, was it Paul Bunyon's axe? No, I
think that's what's Paul Paul Bunyon's axe?

Speaker 1 (02:30:25):
Is that one?

Speaker 5 (02:30:26):
There's like a bucket of nails too big? Ten's got
some trophy, they really do. It's pretty nice, big trophy thing.

Speaker 6 (02:30:31):
Yeah, and they got the main one standing in there,
Ohio State's national champion. Right, So we'll see now here
we go. You got some people you want to get
to here, Danny, Yes, we do.

Speaker 5 (02:30:40):
After the Astros lose eight to four last night to
the Yankees and uh drop that series. Now they're gonna
get the Rangers on the road and the Texans also
going to be an action Sunday up in La. Someone
three two one two five seven ninety is the number
John on the northwest side.

Speaker 1 (02:30:55):
John, Good morning, Hey guys, I don't expect to be
on this quickly. Hey, Sean You're just lucky you don't
draw the golphers this year.

Speaker 2 (02:31:06):
That's all I can say.

Speaker 1 (02:31:07):
Yeah, Now, golfers, my golden Golphers.

Speaker 6 (02:31:10):
You know, I'm gonna tell you real quick, John, we
had uh, we had our guy bearon uh interviewing him. Yeah,
Chris FeliCa from Fox, who you know who does all
their stats and buddy and stuff.

Speaker 1 (02:31:22):
He says, well, he thought one.

Speaker 6 (02:31:24):
Of his sneakiest teams that you needed to keep an
eye on the Big ten this year was Minnesota. Honestly,
he thinks they got it as a sneaky, outside looking
in type of playoff team. He liked him a team
we're not talking about that we should be. He thought
the Minnesota Golden Golfers were improved. Now, my trophrens are't
afraid of your Golden golphers. Dog as you well know,
you're lucky we didn't, Josh, we want to ninety.

Speaker 15 (02:31:45):
One last year.

Speaker 1 (02:31:47):
Yeah, I know.

Speaker 15 (02:31:47):
Well you know.

Speaker 1 (02:31:48):
What, John, listen, we don't do revision? Is history on here? Okay?
Oh yeah yeah, Now guess what John, we would be
if my team would have won. I just said, hey,
we got.

Speaker 8 (02:32:00):
You know, I think we should I think we should
have Shaboozy write a song.

Speaker 1 (02:32:05):
I think I think that'd be great.

Speaker 16 (02:32:06):
You know, especially you know things are going well or
even going bad.

Speaker 1 (02:32:11):
Do some song by Chaboozi.

Speaker 21 (02:32:12):
Two, the three, to the four, bring another round, tell
them we need plenty more John.

Speaker 1 (02:32:21):
John, Yeah, he's bringing the good news, shaboos Yeah, let's go.

Speaker 15 (02:32:25):
Yeah, we got news. I vote for I vote for Chabooz.

Speaker 1 (02:32:30):
I'm gonna second. I'm gonna second that and raise you
four more votes. I like you has got good energy.
And any times you can be around the name Shaboozi,
you gotta be good. If you're carrying. If your name Shaboozy,
you gotta be bringing. I like him, man, I think
he's a good entertainer. I'm with John on this.

Speaker 11 (02:32:46):
I love this song.

Speaker 15 (02:32:47):
I love that tipsy song.

Speaker 1 (02:32:48):
I love that doing what I really do?

Speaker 16 (02:32:50):
Ye okay, Hey, I have a great weekend.

Speaker 1 (02:32:54):
And then you got some other callers, but John, great
stuff go golfers. All right, there you go. We got
some Minnesota ties together, Old John and I do you
know that, can't you guys in? Matt Thomas? Yeah, Matt
Thomas spent a little time up there. Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 5 (02:33:11):
So got the Astros, Texans anything you want to get
to someone three two one, two five seven ninety Uh,
Larry and Safford.

Speaker 1 (02:33:23):
For Larry, what's up, Larry?

Speaker 11 (02:33:26):
Yes, you know it's a big wiki. And for me, man,
it's it's that that time of life where nothing else
truly matters. Man. And see it's it's Texas all day
and every day. And you know, the Astros are still
gonna be on my list of things that talk about.
But we got we gotta focus on them boys. Going
to l a man. But so you're you're not the

(02:33:46):
only one that got times in them Golden Gophers. Man,
Your boys spent some time up.

Speaker 1 (02:33:50):
There, that's right.

Speaker 11 (02:33:53):
You know. They had them six ft five Scandinavian German
women up there, so you know what that's all about.

Speaker 1 (02:34:01):
They were dunk dunking on me crazy stuff, that's right exactly.

Speaker 11 (02:34:09):
But hey, look here man on that game last night. Man,
that was a huge disappointment that Jalen Carter did that. Man,
And he's gonna get a game. It ain't gonna be nothing.
It ain't gonna be eight games or nothing like that.
But he should be suspended because see, you cannot start
the season off on national TV and do something that

(02:34:29):
disgusting and nasty to a human, man, because that's the
worst thing you can do to somebody, spit on him,
because if your ass was out on the streets, your
ass would still be getting pounded in the head, man,
because you just don't do that the folks.

Speaker 23 (02:34:42):
Man.

Speaker 11 (02:34:42):
And it was a great football game because you know
Dallas was out there doing the thing. Once they they
realized that he wasn't gonna be in the game, yep,
they were going at them Eagles.

Speaker 23 (02:34:51):
So I was.

Speaker 11 (02:34:52):
Disappointed about it, man, But overall, it was a great
way to start the season off watching football, man, because
that's what it's about.

Speaker 23 (02:34:59):
Man.

Speaker 11 (02:34:59):
When football comes back around, it makes you feel alive. Man,
And everybody that's opposing each other in all these other
things that they impose each other in, we start having fandomware.
There's a collective group of people that want to come
together and see their team do one thing. And y'all
know what my team is, them boys. And I am
excited about this season, man, because I think it finally

(02:35:21):
has lined up that these guys can take us to
the AFC Championship and maybe further than that because we
got everything that we need over there, starting from the
management to the quarterback, to every other player on that
squad that Demico and Nick has handpicked. So it's gonna
be a fun time this weekend man out in LA
And I'm sure that when everybody get out there, it's

(02:35:42):
gonna be a big party because Texans fans traveling like
nobody else in our hall.

Speaker 1 (02:35:47):
I appreciate Larry stuff.

Speaker 6 (02:35:48):
That's fun. I can't wait till the scene. In all seriousness,
this is a this could vary. Both of these teams
could be playing in February. They're both capable of it.
Rams and Texans. Now we may say there's some things
we got to see Stafford's health and offensive line here,
but I honestly, I don't see how this division is close.

(02:36:08):
If the Texans playing no good football, I don't. The
Titans are going to go through struggles, They're going to
get better, and cam Ward I think can be a player.

Speaker 1 (02:36:16):
I don't.

Speaker 6 (02:36:16):
I honestly there's about two or three teams in the
league that I still don't really know who they are.

Speaker 1 (02:36:21):
The closest one would be Jacksonville.

Speaker 6 (02:36:23):
But Trevor Lawrence, That's my point is I he'll beat
you in a game and then for two you're like,
that's what, Yeah, yeah, I think there are you. I
don't trust them enough. They can they're capable of dominating you,
and they're also capable of You're like, you did what
they can lose three in a row and you're like,
where'd they go? And the Colts, Dude, their quarterback position,

(02:36:44):
even if Daniel Jones plays well, I don't know if
they just have enough flat ass playmakers to go make
a difference. If the Texans play good football, they win
the division by two games. If they play great football,
they're they're they're battling because of the division for even
though the rest they got to schedule that they're battling
for home field advantage in the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (02:37:03):
But I mean, we've seen good, and the problem is
is good doesn't beat Baltimore. Good doesn't beat Kansas.

Speaker 1 (02:37:07):
City, doesn't beat Buffalo.

Speaker 6 (02:37:08):
And this year, in this year, it won't be It
probably may not beat Cincinnati, may not beat the Chargers.
We'll find out who the Chargers are tonight as well,
at least at least to start. But they have the potential,
and I hate that. The potential is one thing, but
now it's it's a moving year for them. It's time
because if they come out of this season and they're
not a top five defense in the NFL are better,
I will be shocked.

Speaker 1 (02:37:29):
Shocked. Now, you just got to make sure you're aggressive.

Speaker 6 (02:37:34):
But in the process, I want to see them able
to win thirteen to ten game when they're having a
bad day and they find a way to grind it
out in the run game, in the offensive line, the
reason you won that game. I know Stroud's gonna have
a four hundred yard passing game.

Speaker 1 (02:37:50):
I know that there. We know those things.

Speaker 6 (02:37:51):
Niko Kin's gonna have a game where you've got eight
catches for a bucks seventy five and two touchdowns. What
we don't know yet is can they physically manhandle you
when you got to three, you got a three point lead,
and you know the defense is going to shut them
down because they've only given up ten points and you
got a long drive. You're backed up at your own
ten yard line and you got to go ninety yards
and you got to do it for eight or nine minutes.

(02:38:12):
And it depends heavily on one group of dudes. When
I see that, I'll know that there's another I won't
worry about the finesse stuff. That'll take care of itself.
I can upgrade that the offensive line if they if
they're not bringing that attitude, then will every week be wondering.
I want to see them do that against a good
team where they wear your ass out on a nine
minute drive up thirteen to ten and the defense gets

(02:38:35):
another final stot because that's who they'll be this year,
and you wear it out without having to be too cute, downhill,
in your mouth, in your face, knocking you in the right,
in the mouth and in the teeth. And then when
it's all said, I know that says, well, that's a
tough guy.

Speaker 9 (02:38:47):
No.

Speaker 6 (02:38:47):
I know teams that can do it, and we see
it regularly by the philadelphia'll do that to you in
a heartbeat, dude, in a heartbeat. Hence they're the Ranning
super Bowl champions. Once you get to that point where
you're controlling that offensive line in a game when you're
not playing well, that that's when I'll know there's another
step that they took.

Speaker 1 (02:39:07):
When I'm watching them this year.

Speaker 5 (02:39:08):
See if there are any other things to talk about
in terms of wild card parts of the Texans this year,
we'll do that and also get you ready for the
astros in Rangers this weekend in Arlington. It is a
Sean Salisbury Show here on a fight song Friday, Sports
Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 3 (02:39:25):
The Sean Salisbury Show continues on your Roku. Listen to
Sports Talk seven ninety on any device with our free
iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (02:39:53):
Well, that's right, typically m a little snare drum.

Speaker 6 (02:40:17):
Yeah, man, this doesn't get you song leaders and Sweaters
band going probably kicking to tusk to represent we got
that cut. Yeah, this fight song is Yeah, he used
like think of like the past with it too.

Speaker 1 (02:40:36):
Reggie Liner, Salisbury, Carson and Salisbury, don't bury the leads paths.
Oh yeah, I think you know who else. Billy D
was good. Billy D's nuts got your ass. Usually he was.

Speaker 6 (02:40:57):
Bringing Roy Foster, Jack del Rio, Dwayne Dickens, Marcus Allen.

Speaker 18 (02:41:02):
He was.

Speaker 6 (02:41:02):
He was a push He like Bryant Cushing, Ray Mala
Luga Play, Matthew Matthews Jr. Well Man you kidding me,
Regin Old Bush, as you said, Palmer Lioner.

Speaker 5 (02:41:15):
Rodney Pete even you just talking about man. The rest
of the showing, you can just rattle them off. Charlie
White Charlie White. Oh yeah, we we could. I could
keep naming him by the time show was over, we would.
We still wouldn't have got through them. I mean, but
who's counting, who's counting? All America said pet Petrows just
looked like a guy that had to go to sc
We used to go to his dad.

Speaker 6 (02:41:36):
The restaurant is a Greek restaurant. Yeah, we'd go there
once a year on night before a game. Right, take
us there and we'd go load up the buses and
go because you stay at a hotel obviously before we
go down to the San Pedro and we go to
Papa Doctors Greek restaurant, and dude, I'm telling you, it
was a blast. There's eighty five ninety of us in

(02:41:58):
that restaurant and patrols. His dad is, We're the Greeks.
They know how to party now. And so you go
and we get this meal. They keep bringing food right
in the carbs for the next day, and all of
a sudden, the music kicks in and we're breaking glasses
inside the dog on firefight. I mean, I'm telling you,
hopping around, We are hopping around dancing. It was like

(02:42:20):
if you'd never been to like a Greek wedding or
any of that. Growing up, it's like, and dude, I'm
telling you, the whole team gets in and you walk
out of say, and then we'd go to Paramount Pictures
and see a movie before it came out. It was like,
but that restaurant was rocking, and his dad did it.
His dad was a former player, Dad Jack, Dude, his
his pops is a stud. So we'd go there and

(02:42:40):
have a blast. Man and I can always remember when
you see our coaches are getting after it, having fun.

Speaker 1 (02:42:45):
We just it was silly, but silly fun.

Speaker 6 (02:42:48):
We had a frigging blast and that energy that at
that point in time, you know, the Italians, the Greeks,
I mean the Greeks get after it. Man, and he
had and the food was off the charts. We had
a blast.

Speaker 7 (02:43:00):
Man.

Speaker 6 (02:43:00):
Always look forward to our visits at Papadacus's Restaurant, which
are great firing.

Speaker 1 (02:43:03):
You up for the college football weekend.

Speaker 6 (02:43:05):
I can't wait, man, Man the other weekend this every Saturday, Sunday. Man,
We've got a great NFL game tonight too, big Ones,
Huge Chiefs Chargers down in Brazil. And my guy real
quick before we wanted we're going to get to all
the three of you guys. We'll roll through as quickly
as we can. I just wanted to make this point.
My guy Dan Patrick made this point, and he's right.
I don't mind going to Brazil to play. We're going
to San Polo, Brazil, right, beautiful, all that global and

(02:43:28):
all that. Why are we going there with an opening
sea a week season with a conference, I mean, a
divisional game. Why why are we sending I understand you're
sending your stars, Chargers of Stars and Harbaugh and he'll
embrace it and make it a business trip in Kansas City,
Andy and Mahomes and he's the biggest all those things.

Speaker 1 (02:43:46):
But really we're really doing.

Speaker 6 (02:43:49):
Brazil's fine, But to open it on a Friday, which
is not your normal schedule, and in a divisional game
with those two that are going to be battling each
other in late December.

Speaker 14 (02:44:00):
Ah.

Speaker 6 (02:44:00):
I'm all for globalization, I'm all for expanding the game.
I don't want the Super Bowl anywhere else but here.
That's our game. But they're going to at some point.
I got a real problem with the opening game as
a division game. No problem there, like the where the
Cowboys and Eagles played in Philly. Yeah, this game should
be played in an opener in Kansas City or in
LA and let's go Brazil.

Speaker 1 (02:44:23):
Love you. They could have waited until the middle of
the season, all.

Speaker 5 (02:44:26):
Right, Sean said, we got only a few minutes, so
we'll get you in as quickly as we can. Now,
let's go Daniel and DFW. Nice name, Daniel, Good morning.

Speaker 1 (02:44:35):
Good morning guys.

Speaker 24 (02:44:36):
Hey, I just wanted to say that I think the
yes not having Jalen Carter was huge for the Eagles,
but I think CJ.

Speaker 16 (02:44:44):
Gardener Robinson was a better huge loss for them.

Speaker 24 (02:44:47):
Their secondary Lamb and Pickens both ten to fifteen yards
down the field. We're able to get separation, so their
secondary is now just average, It's not elite anymore. When
Mahomes would escape the pocket during the Super there was
nowhere for him to throw the football. And I believe
the Chiefs receiving corps better than Dallas's and CJ. Gardner

(02:45:08):
Robinson in practices they've shown on KPRC and local media. Collins, Kirk,
and Higgins, none of them are getting separation away from CJ.
Before his injury, so I hope he can go Week one.

Speaker 16 (02:45:22):
I'm not sure if he can or not.

Speaker 24 (02:45:23):
But I believe the defense, like you were saying, Sean.

Speaker 8 (02:45:27):
I don't think it's going to be top seven.

Speaker 24 (02:45:29):
I think the defense is going to be a top
one or two.

Speaker 1 (02:45:32):
Well, I said top I said top five, So, Daniel,
and thank you for the call. I listen.

Speaker 6 (02:45:38):
I was impressed with the Cowboys offense. So I thought
the Cowboys showed up last night and I didn't. I
thought this would be maybe a backdoor cover. But I
liked ten points with the Eagles. I was impressed. And
I can make the argument here. And Dan, you make
a great point about how important guys are to a defense.
I think the text and I said top five at
the worst. If they're not in the top three, well,
if they're in top three real quick, and we'll get

(02:46:00):
to big Jay is the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver
corps is not better than.

Speaker 1 (02:46:05):
The Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 6 (02:46:06):
Matter of fact, the first two receivers on the Cowboys,
talent wise and skill set, are better than the best
receiver on the Kansas City Chiefs right now, in my now,
in another year or two, what's my Texas guy's name
that with the run sect four to one? Yeah, xavier'
worthy now he's got some game now and he can
flat out fly. But and Kelsey's obviously aging a little

(02:46:27):
more production fell off.

Speaker 1 (02:46:29):
You give me the.

Speaker 6 (02:46:30):
Ceedee Lamb and Pickens. Oh no, the Cowboys are gonna
score points a yall, I'll take those guys. If he
had those perimeter people to see, the kans City Chiefs
will probably be back in the Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (02:46:39):
Big Ja close us out?

Speaker 23 (02:46:41):
Hey, good morning, Happy fight song Friday, God blessed fight
song Friday. Although it is really a cupcake weekend. Only
one decent game really this weekend on the schedule. Hey, Shawan,
you forgot to mention the most famous of all Trojans,
the white sweaters and the white Oh no, we did.

Speaker 6 (02:47:02):
We've mentioned, We mentioned it more than one Yeah, numerous times.
The best cheerleading squad in the country. Check those check
those ears, brother, we got you.

Speaker 23 (02:47:09):
My bad, My bad? Okay, the white skirt. Hey, I'm
excited about the Texans man. The three things I'm going
to be watching. How is Nick Chubb? Can he tote
the rock for us? Right? Joe Mixon is out right?
The young wide receivers, who's going to step up as
a tight end? I want to quick shout out though
Quero Texas. Jordan Whittington, the fourth wide receiver on the Rams.

(02:47:31):
He's the only one that I want to have a
decent day. You guys have a great weekend and hook him, baby.

Speaker 6 (02:47:36):
It's amazing. And then offense line, it's amazing. All the
things that we want to see that we're questioning are
on the offensive side of the ball.

Speaker 1 (02:47:42):
Yeah, receivers, an offensive line. There you go.

Speaker 5 (02:47:44):
Receivers were the the running back position with Joe out,
let's get a Texans win two out of three from
the Astros.

Speaker 1 (02:47:50):
I'll take both. There we go, There you go.

Speaker 5 (02:47:52):
He Sean Salisbury triple, Emmanuel Elmore, Dan Matthews. Yeah, we
came around. We came around the matt I did Okay,
I did, Yeah, I did triple. And I were laughing
the whole time I saw catch you. I'm sorry here
I am, but you're just day Danny. But the mat
for the Matt Thomas, you know, I'm just kidding. We'll
see him soon next We'll talk to you in sixty

(02:48:14):
eight hours.
