Yeah, for drizzle. What wouldhe call me? Shizzle? Yeah?
I was, yeah, Shawn's don'tyou know him though? Who?
Snoop? Yeah? I mean I'venever actually met him as an s C

(02:08):
guy, I never met him.We probably got it. We probably should
probably gummy up together. I knowyou were a B lister, you mean
him? Maybe they should go askhim? Have you you haven't met Sewan?
You right? Right, let's let'ssurely. I mean, who's cooking
in the kitchen with Martha Stewart meor the Snoop Dogg? You don't get
stoop dog You're right, it isso. I guess he is bigger than

think I should me and me anddog just I call him dog becames when
you're really tight, you call himdog, right? I uh, I
love Snoop Dogg. Yeah it is. You know, it is weird after
all those years that I haven't shoulderedto shoulder with him. I mean from
Denzel to Feral you know that,to Winkler, you know, the fans

(02:51):
of Rally the fawns guy, damncheck that out. I mean from Selleck
this fons of Rally to guy.Yeah you know, uh, but but
who's who's counting? But who's right? But whose name drop? Right?
Yeah? You think they go upto Snoop like when he does a podcast
and say, hey, sc theystarted listening. I wrung around Sean Salsb.

(03:13):

not, No, probably probably not. Yeah, I'll tell you what I
got on Snoop. Did you seehim in a Sandler movie? Did not?
Thank you? I didn't shut theshout down. I could shove it
right now. I like the SnoopDogg, so I'd be shizzled for him.
Texans fifty percent chance force hit theplayoffs. I like it. I

(03:38):
got to come clean on something.Yeah, for the first time in a
decade. I've told you I've beena one game here, the NFL game
you getting ready to go, ButI've been on one end of it was
the Cleveland games. I told youBaker Mayfield was Cleveland's quarterback. I left
about eight six minutes before halftime, and when watch the bar, I didn't

(03:58):
I could. I didn't stay.Okay, and I love football, but
I don't. I told you I'mnot an NFL in person guy. For
the first time, I didn't goto a game when Watson was here throwing
the ball all over the lot watchon TV. It's easier for me to
I like replay. I like tohit rewe, I like all that.
I like to just be in mywell, you know, I get in
my feels, you know what I'msaying. Yeah, I can really I

(04:19):
can really analyze this right, andI know I love the tailgating, but
at the distraction, sitting in thestand, everything going on, I just
can't fe I don't know what itis. I just don't like it.
Yeah, But you know what, for the first time in a decade since
being here, because I went tothat game because just we were going to
meet some people, had some peoplewe want to meet beforehand, and then

(04:39):
went in and left by halftime.I am not sure if I'm thinking about
going this weekend. Yeah, I'mthinking about it. I woke up,
went to bed last and I thinking, you know, should I just strout?
And I don't know. I knowwhere they got Arizona this week right?
Yeah? And maybe I'll wait.I'm not committing to it, but
I can tell you I've been toa half. I never saw JJ Watt

(05:00):
in person there. Yeah, Inever watched, ever watched the game in
person. A NRG only game I'veever watched full in person. There is
a high school football game or therodeo. Yeah. Other than that,
I've never seen a game there.NFL wise, and I stroud makes me
in the way the energy makes methink that could I enjoy four quarters of
football in person in at NF nota college game. I love college NFL

(05:24):
game watching it and man, didI there's never even when I've been invited
and now I'm good, Man,I can give the tickets somebody else.
You need somebody for those tickets.Never I've had zero interest in going to
a game. It doesn't matter whatcity, just we're happening to Houston,
and this cat has me thinking Ineed to go. I haven't been since

(05:45):
twenty twenty, that season where Ithink they had like the stadium open at
like twenty five percent. You hadto wear a mask and all that bs
or if you just carry around abeer or any kind of drink, you
cannot have a mask on. That'sthe last time I went. Bill O'Brien
was was still the head coach. So you masked up. I wore one
of those gators. You masked up. Well, I wanted to get into

(06:08):
the building spend as Yeah, intwenty twenty, you masked up. I
mean allegedly allegedly now, but nowI don't want to go. If I
were to go, I'm coaching thisweekend or last term in the fall.
If I was, if I wouldwant to go, I want to go.
Not this weekend, but next weekendwhen they're hosting the Jaguars. That's

(06:29):
going to be a hell of amatchup. Now that's the game that I
want to go to. Yeah,do you call them the Jaguars or the
Jaguars? Well, it's like programor program? Yeah, program or program.
I'm a when I'm talking like likethe probably say program quickly. But
when somebody stids, so you know, go to the program. Yeah,
a little change up pitch, butso you're more of a jag wires.
So it's spelled j A g wI r e s pretty much. Yeah,

(06:54):
Jaguars, Yeah, Jared Jags.A lot of those around right there
are so that. Yeah, I'mthinking of man, which is don't you
find it odd that? I don'tknow, is that odd? But I
find a lot of my friends thatplayed don't go to games. I don't
think it's odd to me, No, not at all. I mean they'll
go and you know, do thestuff beforehander they'll go to games sitting a
swear. Now, there are somethat go every week. In my crop.

(07:15):
My buddies and mine men are constantlythere. You get invited at time.
Only time I've been to a fullgame is when I've covered it.
Yeah. Since I left, I'vecome across some athletes that are like really
good at what they do, butthen outside of that, they really don't
even enjoy what they do, meaninglike it's worked. Yeah, it's work
exactly. It got to a pointwhere it's just worked to that and it

(07:35):
wasn't the money you said. Forsome it was just a job. Yeah,
go enjoy the fellows. Now.Always when you leave, you always
wish you had more time talking withthe fellows like that. But I most
many of the guys I know don't. I don't know what that is.
I don't know if it's the factthat you've it's just it's been shoved down
your throat so much over your careerand you've got since you were for some

(07:59):
a youth football player, and allof a sudden, I know it's different
every sports, but the physical, emotional, and emotional and mental demand of
it. Finally, when you're done, you walk away. I think it's
twofold early when you walk away. The reason you stay away from it a
little bit as far as going inperson, Now, if you're a Hall
of Famer, you got to goand they always going to get put you
in a ring of honor of thatstuff. But if you just if you
played and had a good career orplayed a couple of years, I think

(08:22):
the region people kind of turn awayfrom it immediately. If you're not in
a broadcast businesses, it still sticksin your mind that you still kind of
want to It's hard to walk awayfrom, right, So that's hard because
you crave going back. And yetI'm telling you right now, Tom Brady
still misses it, and JJ Watsonin that studio he still like to play.
I'm just it doesn't go away thatunless you're forced out because of injury,

(08:46):
you will even then you're like, man, I wish I could still
play. And then three or four, five years goes by and you say,
then you stand on the sidelines fora game, watch those guys hit.
You're like and coming back for that. But then then the later you
go, I think you just getremoved from it because different generations of players
come. And I know guys rightnow that couldn't name ten players on teams
across that are I'm talking about that. We're great players. They just don't

(09:07):
pay attention. Really, Yeah,on Sundays, they're out playing golf,
They're going to brunch and hanging around. Oh yeah, there's a game.
They may watch their team once, but they're not like you and I tuned
in all these TVs and watching everygame. It's a it's a weird dynamic,
it is. But and for some, and I think some in truth
hold a bitterness to the game oftheir injury, or maybe they don't feel
like the NFL treated them. Iknow that that some feel like they were

(09:30):
slided when it comes to insurance orbenefits that you get different layers of it.
And then there's my buddies who playedthat, like some of the Oakland
Raiders that go back, that arein Vegas, that go every week,
right, And there's a lot ofit has to do with how welcome I
know in Minnesota, extremely welcoming, how welcoming the franchise is, no matter
who the when, when general managercoaching changes, how welcoming they are to

(09:52):
their former legends. They come backand play we want you back all the
time, right, And a lotof times the coach handles. I mean,
we'll say, you know, Idon't Pete Carroll loved it at SC.
Yeah, some people love it inthe pros. Some people don't.
They don't grasp it. But Isee forty nine ers like Rice and Montage.
I see those guys back at fortynine games all the time. So
and it had not to do withyour love of football to think maybe it's
the love of that moment. Sometimesyou kind of like that. And I'm

(10:15):
just always been like doing in silencewatching a game, right, but I
may go strouded. Yeah, andthe energy in the building is giving me
a point to where you now almostfeel like you're gonna miss something if you
don't go with him or the team. Yeah. And he just a couple
of days ago he was asking forTexans fan to pack out Energy and RG
Stadium this weekend. I don't knowthe last time they've actually had a full

(10:37):
house. They'll say that they do, but you can see pictures of before
the game, during the game halftime, so I would expect the better.
As he continues to play better andbetter, you almost feel like they're still
tread and lightly wondering if they're overthe hump yet. I don't know,
I really don't. I don't knowhow really good Texans fans feel when it
comes to that and go into thesegames. I feel like they're still probably

(11:01):
a sour taste in Sum's mouth becauseof the way that ownership has been.
You got to let that go,though. Man, the person who's holding
the grudge and all that hit thatright because right now the people from the
past regime what's going but they don'tcare. I mean, it's just like
if you're holding the grudge against them. Yeah, you're probably suffering more than
the ones you're holding the grudge againstif they don't even thinking about you.
Yeah, if you're holding a grudge, then you're waking up and just being

(11:24):
miserable life every day, right,And this guy and this team and the
demico and the way that this team'splaying will help you get over that quickly.
It's also to the point where youthink, Man, I don't want
to take this for granted. Bro, the guys like this just don't roll
out of bed, fall off aturn up truck and land in your lap
at the quarterback position. No.I mean we thought. I bet a
lot of people thought when Deshaun Watsonwas a quarterback here that we have the

(11:48):
same excitement that we have right now. But we saw how that panned out,
and I think this guy's better.I think it's hard to say that.
Yeah, I think this guy's better. Yeah, that better pure of
the football, in my opinion, there's no doubt when it comes to that.
C J. Stroud was on thatpodcast with Tom Brady. Tom Brady
had some really high praise for CJ. Stroud. We've got the audio,

(12:09):
we'll hear it and we'll discuss nextgot so much to get into today on
the Sean Salisbury Show. Yeah, and I got high praise for Men's T
Clinic. It's the total wellness authority, that's Men's TA Clinic. Hey,

put yourself through Oh I should havedone it twenty years ago. Don't be
that guy. Both are causes.Men's T Clinic is dedicated to all year

(13:41):

dot com or one eight hundred twofour six low T. That's one eight
hundred two four six low T Men'sTaclinic dot com. Tom Sean Salisbury SENTI
going non stop showing with former QBSean Salisbury. You know from the moment

(14:11):
should go around. She know howto back it up and jump it down.
Houston Texans continue to practice this weekout of their game against the Cardinals.
Garrett Cole, Blake Snell, yourcy Young Award winners in Major League

(14:31):
Baseball. Draymond Green spent a fivegames for his rolling a scuffle the other
night in the NBA like a pillowfight, but five games Tom Brady had
some high praise for the Texans quarterbackc J. Stroud on his Let's Go
podcast. This is what the greatestof all time I had to say about
c J Stroud. Your ability tocare about your teammates is what the leadership's

(14:52):
all about. There's no footballs bullshYou know, you can't get in a
pregame speech and hey, guys, you know after you had a I had
week of practice and all right, this is the time. Now it's important.
No, it's important every day. You're realizing that early halfway through your
rookie season and you know you havebig goals ahead of you, and you
know you have such a fire withinyou and and it it burns really bright

(15:13):
and everybody sees it. So I'mreally proud of you. So Tom Brady
talking about some leadership for CJ Stroud, Yeah, he's right. It's an
everyday thing to be a leader. It's not a part time gig man,
No, it's a it's an everydaything. Matter of fact that even Rears
has said more when things aren't goingwell, and they've been going well a

(15:37):
lot this year for him and ateam in particular, which is a good
thing. So Yeah, leaderships.Listen, it ain't popular and it ain't
easy, and because to be agreat leader, guess what, there's a
lot of people who you know asa great leader, you bring him ahead,
but there's a lot of people thataren't going to that are gonna have
opposition to it. Leadership. Leadershipcomes in many shape, sizes, and

(15:58):
fact, but it's you've got tomake some uncomfortable decisions and say some uncomfortable
things too. When I say uncomfortable, i'm talking about harsh. May be
a little harsh for me to sayit that way, but things that make
players' teammates uncomfortable because you have tochallenge them. Great leadership in a boardroom.

(16:18):
And you know, if you havea whole bunch of guys just sitting
around and only leading when things aregood and are afraid to take either criticism
and or insight from people, itis it can't lead. You just can't
do it. You can't lead continuous. You can't just lead out in front
when things are good. Matter offact, you've got to jump out in
front when you look behind you andbring people along when there may not be

(16:41):
a whole bunch of them behind youor side by side with you. Yeah.
And we were doing a PSF meetinglast night with all our NBA media
casters and when we're going to openthe meeting, and the thing I said
is that we talk about leadership andit kind of applies to what C.
J. Stroud is that leadership's allfine and dandy. But I said,
depending on when they're doing their mediacasts and their game casts like the Manning

(17:04):
cast, and they're doing their showsjust like here, if only one guy
has all the ideas, if Iwas sitting there and everything, I said
to these NBA, hey, dude, it this way, this way,
this way, this way. They'resitting in it. You're in it,
man, I said, you gotto. I mean, part of this
thing of getting this thing right isthe only way we're going to do it.
You're the engine. The talent's theengine that's going to drive it.
We just we built everything around it. Now they got to drive it.

(17:25):
Without talent, it can't succeed. And so I said, you know,
constant communication about what will make itbetter. Don't be afraid to tell us
what you think makes your podcast oryour media cast better. And it's the
same here that you take all thatinformation. But sometimes it can be uncomfortable
using the word no, or we'regoing to do it another way. And
it looks to me that CJ.Stroud's talking to you, asking you,

(17:48):
showing you, and guys are like, if he's doing it, it seems
like that's the way to do it. And like I said, sometimes it's
not real popular being a leader becausewith the good stuff, you also got
to be the guy that's out infront of the things that aren't so good,
when things when you're losing or you'velost the game, and you're the
one who's the guy that's going tostand up. Two people I know are
going to be standing up at thepodium every single week, the Miko Ryan's

(18:11):
c J. Stroud, come hellor high water. You always like to
say, good movie whenever it isso there you have it and he's doing
it, and if the Tom Brady'sof the world are noticing it, it's
right and Brady, he's so spoton. You write a book on that,
not just a chapter of book onwhat he sat alone. Just one
thing is you can write five hundredpages or a thousand pages on simply leading

(18:33):
every day, every day of practice, every It's not just leadership on Sunday
giving a pregame speech. And that'sa hard thing to do because, like
all of us, sometimes you wakeup and said, I don't feel like
being the guy that leads today.I don't want to sit back and watch
everybody else. But they're all haveyou ever noticed when you see something like
that or the day you think aboutthat on your on your team, with
your your select team, they're alllooking around like what's wrong. So it's

(18:56):
like a comedian. They want youto be on all the time. Sometimes
you can't be on all the time. But even when you're not, you
got to baffle them with some bsto make sure they know that's it's the
truth. Yeah. Yeah, Evenif you got whatever you got going on
your personal life, I mean, you check it at the door, and
even if it affects you a littlebit while you're on the field or in
the cages or whatever you're doing, you still have to put on the what

(19:17):
coaches face, leadership face and grindthrough it. Best way to lose a
team in any jobs in sports, best way to lose a team is disappear
as a leader when things are bad. Right, go ahead. I can
find anything that's like a dog tuckinghis tail and run it. Yeah,
I can. I can just disappear. A matter of fact, they need
you more than when you're winning.Everything's cool, I don't. We're good

(19:38):
when I talk. That's why I'vealways said I'm a the criticism. If
you have something or you've got somereally hardcore coaching to do or teaching to
do, do it when you're winning. Yeah, I mean the criticism part
because people are more receptive to itbecause like things are going good, Okay,
I'm I'm open to it when youstruggle and you you know, strike
out twelve times in fifteen at bats, or you're throw them picks or you

(20:00):
got your ass kicked, and thencriticizing guy for fumbling three times while he
already knows you're beating him down. And I'm not sure that's good leadership.
So throwing him on your shoulders andcarrying him through it seems like this kid
has a pretty good idea to doit. And he doesn't seem to be
an outlandish over talker as a leader. You know what I mean. There's
a I mean, you've got tobe able to do both. But he's
not a it doesn't seem to beto be a guy that has to overtalk

(20:22):
to lead. Matter of fact,he feels like the guy that when he
did everything he says less but accomplishesmore than some people who talk all the
time. Pretty impressive man, Atleast from this vantage point, it looks
like this guy's got this business.And I say licked, but I don't
mean literally yet because he got along way to go. But it feels
like nine games in he's so farahead of the curve it's unbelievable. You

(20:47):
see the bet that him and TomBrady made for the Ohio State Michigan game.
Yeah, and you don't believe thatin either. Tom Brady said,
if Ohio State wins, you getone of my Super Bowl rings. If
Michigan beats Ohio State, then yougot to give me all your youth,
your agility, time in the fortyand all your future years in the NFL.
C J. Stroud said, that'sa bet. Yeah, well one
you can't give him, the otheryou can. So if you take the

(21:08):
ring off his finger, that wouldbe funny if he went and got a
Jostin's, you know, like aring of a replica made if they got
beat. Now the question is who'sgoing to win that. What's that a
week from Saturday? Right, Yeah, that's coming up Thanksgiving weekend. U
huh, that's coming up. Theygot Nebraska. I think Michigan does any
Oh yeah, tough test for thefor the Michigan Wolverines without their head coach.
You know what, they call thisthe battle of no you know what

(21:30):
the game. They call this anask trap game. No way they're going
to beat him by thirty they callit could be a trap game. You
never know, Ohio State next toYeah, trap your ass right into about
forty to ten. Braska sucks.Oh yeah, it's a little harsh,
that kind of you know what.Honestly, if Tom Brady really did try

(21:51):
to give c. J. Stroudone of his rings because he lost the
bet, there's no way taking it. You know why Stroud doesn't want that,
right. He wants his own, right, damn right, He wants
his own dude. And you knowwhat, sometimes you just got to go
to the arcade and get you alittle twenty five fifty probably not even twenty
five percent how much your arcade gamesthese days? You know, with inflation
and everything else and twist, areyou talking about like a video like an

(22:12):
arcade game where you play it in. Yeah, I still think you get
it. I don't know what's atoken cost. You get five tokens for
a dollar or I don't think it'sthat tokens for five dollars anymore. No,
not anymore. I dot it reallydidn't give really tokens anymore. You
get to get them on a card. Oh yeah, that's right, right,
swipe the card then you've got points, right correct? Yeah, yeah,
okay, I feel it out.Yeah, probably expensive these days,

(22:34):
Yeah, probably expensive. I don't. I don't know. I don't.
I don't spend a whole lot oftime in arcades. I just I don't
seem like an arcade guy I usedto be. I love them. I
mean, I love the games. It's just i'd just assume I want to
go get them, like and putthem in a game room. You know
what I'm saying. You show medog like, ah, I love it
like a pinball or like NBA,JAM NFL, Bullitz or you like old

(22:55):
school like literally like pinball. Well, I love old school pinball. I
tell you what I do too?Is I like what was the golf one?
Oh? A golden tea golden tea. Yeah, Golden Te's right.
You get a couple of buddies andyou go to a bar that's got Goldie.
See, you were literally pitting outdrinking beer. Oh, I know,
that's like one of the funnest thingsto do. Alright, let's keep

(23:17):
on talking Texans. What did JJWatts say on the Pat mcavie Show in
regards to the Houston Texans. We'llhear that audio discussed next on Sports Talk
seven ninety, But first it's timefor the University of Houston Cougar Daily Update,
presented to you by dose Echis. After practice yesterday, Patrick Paul and
Nelson Caesar of the Koug's football teamboth received invitations to the Senior Bowl to

(23:42):
good honor for both of those players. It's the Reese's Senior Bowl, which
is after the season. It's anall star game. It's a big time
if you want to get some looksand try to get drafted into the NFL.
So it's a well deserved honor forboth Patrick Paul and Nelson Caesar of
the Houston Koogs. And when you'rerooting on on the Houston Cougars, make
sure to do it with the doseSekis do Saki's nose. Game day is

(24:03):
filled with iconic traditions, the fightsongs, the rivalries, the iconic stadiums.
Whatever your game day tradition is,make sure you're doing it with the
real one, and that is doseekis raise one with a real one where
your favorite jersey, watch with friendsor family and enjoyed. Do sekis responsible?
It's twenty twenty three. Do Seki'simported by servaceist may Conna's White Planes
New York get a dose. Let'sgo on. This is the Sean Salisbury

(24:26):

on the regular love Peddy. You'relistening to the Shawn Salisbury Show. Here
on Sports Talk seven ninety Sean Bryanand Triple Y Taxan is gonna take on

(25:11):
the Cardinals this weekend. They continuepractice Garrett cole Blake's Know Your Cy Young
Award winners in Major League Baseball.Draymond Greens spent in five games for his
role as a scuffle between the Warriorsand t Wolves. JJ Watt was on
the Pat McAfee show. It's aweekly guest for that show, and he
hinted had a potential to return tothe NFL. Is what do you had

(25:34):
to say? I think I JJwas playing football game the Oh my god?
Oh yeah, yeah, you thinkI would go to I mean,
if you think about it, who'sour brains for a second here? If
if you're going to go somewhere.Obviously you speak about Pittsburgh because my brother's
there, But there is there anotherteam that's playing incredibly well right now,

(25:56):
who's got a quarterback that's crushing it. That's I've got one for you.
Lot of connections, Like I mean, that guy one I'm struggling, actually
got one for him. I can'tthink. I think Debucket probably right down
there to be a guy right nextto you and he goes on and he
says, the guy that could benext you would be Sheldon Rankings. Sheldon

(26:19):
Rankings. Do you too? Wasabout to ask you about what Sheldon Rankings?
There you had a JJ wattish gamethree on the stadium. Yeah,
yeah, there you go. Firstof all, there's no shot that's happening.
No. No. Secondly, andI mean this with affection and his

(26:42):
career, I don't think JJ wantsany part of that. Right now,
it looks like he's trimmed down inthe studio with the suit and tie on.
Life's good on Sunday. You getto do all the all the analysis.
You don't have to have everybody talkabout your team. Now. Would
be fun to go in there andwin again. I'm sure that if he
was still playing in Stroud, cameit make you say I'm gonna play two

(27:02):
or three more years if I can. I don't think I'm not sure how
many minutes jj'd get right now comingout of that studio right there. Probably
right, all great, but youknow, once you've checked out on the
part of football, it's like I'min this broadcaster, behold doubt mad.
Now he's such a you know,an intense player on the field. Obviously
give him a couple of weeks,he probably be in good enough shape to

(27:22):
be ready to roll. But thatain't happening, And why would he want
to do that now? Like Isaid, if you were on the team
and say I was going to retirenext year, Stroud's here, yeah,
and Demiko, make oh, Ithink I got three more in me by
give me about oh thirty snaps fortysnaps a game half the snaps. Yeah,
different, different story, but Iknow it was all fun and games
when they were talking about it.I think, I really JJ is in

(27:45):
a seat that he probably wants tobe in a little bit more. Although
I guarantee he missed the competition.Who doesn't when they leave? Yeah,
I think it's kind of funny. How excuse me? The guys on that
show like couldn't figure out that hewas in referring to the Texans guys like
the Lions and the Steelers. Yeah, there's a guy playing great quarterback right
now in his home right. Whywould he want to go to the Lions

(28:08):
because he's in Detroit, Michigan andif they're near Wisconsin because they're winning.
He probably like Dan Campbell type ofguy. And he's got the kid from
Michigan as the defense. What's mythe the uh great player, the kid
who was drafted second Hutchinson. Yeah, Hutchinson's there kind of like the Rankins

(28:30):
type of thing on another team toget to, you know, another energetic
guy who plays a lot like whatwith his motor meaning in a Hutchinson and
they they're going to win that division. I would imagine unless the Vikings keep
getting that they're out of body experiencethe way they're playing. But yeah,
the one right in Houston's not abad idea. Yeah, I just don't
like Fellas. He's literally in thering of honor here. If he would

(28:52):
if he were to come out ofretirement, if he was legit about coming
out of retirement, why would henot just go back to where he feels
most comfortable, and that would bethe Houstons. Well, we both know,
actually all three of us probably knowthat's not happening. Ju's not coming
out of retirement. No, he'snot. No, he's not. I
don't even I mean, you know, the body's probably starting to feel pretty

(29:15):
good. Yeah. No, beena good run. You only got a
you know, a handful of yearsto wait before you get inducted into Canton.
You got a nice, probably sevenfigure gig right there on CBS is
set worked a couple hours a weekend. Yeah, it's a good gig.
Speaking of guys coming out of retirement, I saw a thing. I'm trying
to pull it up. I shouldhave saved the Browns. In regards to

(29:38):
the Cleveland Browns, there was anaccount Yester. Yeah, here we go.
This is from let's see m Lfootball and it's a verified account with
a gold thing, a little goldstar on on Twitter, and they said
the Cleveland Browns knee to call PhilipRivers. Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger,

(30:02):
Andrew Luck, Alex Smith, RyanFitzpatrick, and Drew Brees. You tell
him, here's your chance to takeover a really good football team, and
with the right QB, they couldbe a Super Bowl contender. And if
the only way to get some ofthese guys is a small part of ownership,
then you have to do it.If you're the haslums, go through
that name with the list again, who's the first one on the list,
Philip Rivers. Well, if aslong as you give him about a two

(30:26):
inch of the radius to move in, Philip Rivers ain't helping Philip Rivers right
now? Competitive why, as Iget it. But as far as athleticism
and making plays, I don't thinkhe's given you much more than PJ.
Walker at this stage of his career, right Tom Brady? Yeah, Brady,
I'm in with because I think Bradywith that team, I honestly Brady

(30:47):
could take him to the playoffs. He's not too far removed from being a
baller, he could play. Whoelse Ben Roethlisberger has been in has been
shape right now, there is physicalconditioning. I know. Apparently I forgot
what team was they were rumored totry to bring him back. Jets,
Jets, that's right, Yeah,Andrew Luck, that ain't happening. Well,

(31:07):
everybody tries to get and I don'tthink and loves football anymore. He's
coaching if I'm not. I meanas far as playing in the I think
he just went he lost that.Yeah, he lost that love. It
felt like it went away in ahurry though. And you know some guys
flirt with it. Whenever you talkto him, it's there's never it's been
out, equivoc come back. Hewants no part of it. I think
he's got so many interests outside offootball, you know, the Stanford or

(31:30):
what I mean. I think he'sseems like a fairly simple guy, right
Yeah, Well dude had a flipphone right right all the way up until
like yeah last year or something crazyas a Stanford graduate. Yes, we're
all technology, all the tech techcompanies at all that Northern col But I
uh, I know, and MattRyan, the answer is no, Ryan

(31:53):
Drew Brees the answers. No,Well, if you want to keep your
offense to throwing at like twelve yards, you go get Drew Brees and he'll
be accurate. He won't miss it. Now, the ball won't hit the
ground, right, But if you'retrying to throw twenty five yards or more
and have a vertical stretch, that'snot the way to go. Cleven's gonna
live with what they got. Idon't know if they did. They sign
somebody. I'm sure they're going to, but it ain't gonna be to be

(32:14):
the starter unless Tom Brady says, you know, i'd like a run in
Cleveland for a year. It's nothappening. Let's see their depth chart.
It's PJ. Walker. I don'tthink they signed anybody yesterday. Let's see,
they're gonna have to sign somebody.I guess PJ Walker. And uh,
actually they've got Dorian Thompson Robinson asthe Yeah, dr No, he's

(32:35):
got They got them listed as thestarter on their depth chart right now.
Yeah, PJ. Walker's second string. All right. Well, either way,
I'm sure they're both going to seethe field at some point. I'd
imagine I would think PJ. Walkerwould be the starter. Don't don't think.
Okay, just do yeah, yeah, just do it. PJ Walkers.
PJ Walker is the one who started, you know. But the maybe

(32:57):
dtrs they think they got more potentialthan the run game with him. Who
knows? I guess. I guessthat this whole Deshaun Watson thing and the
injury and how it's gonna affect theTexans and the AFC, That's that's what
I want to talk about nexs withthe Texans. You know, obviously these
percentages, they're percentages, right there'sthey're analytics and things like that. Over
a fifty eight percent chance for theTexans to make the playoff according to ESPN

(33:22):
Power Index when it comes to theNFL. So, how does Deshaun Watson's
injury affect the Browns and that AFCplayoff picture with the Texans right there?
We'll discuss that next right here onthe Sewn Salisbury Show. But first,

protegee? How much I think theyshould pay it instead of being gracious.
Was that time you heard this songSean? Driving in Oh you did?

(36:06):
Were you driving a Classic Elite vehicle? I was, and I was on
my I just have Spotify golf.Okay, what about the free iHeart radio
app? I just thought, butI heard this song. I had to
see my buddy might have a podcast. But I heard this cut, so
I just left it on. Okay, Yeah, I go to the iHeart
radio app. Yeah, that's whereI get my music, you know.
But let's say, in fact, sometimes you do a little change up.

(36:28):
Sometimes I went to Holly too onSatellite seventy nine. I'm serious, except
okay, so never said Holly Christmascarte. I got you, I got
you. The Christian I usually don't. Yeah, I start on Christmas Day.
We need to put me on Christmasdown Thanksgiving like this before Thanksgiving Day
after and I already started. Thisis what we need to do. We
need to collab together and put outlike four or five Christmas cuts together.

(36:51):
I was thinking about doing a dozen. Well we canna do twelve. Just
like we got a producer that's abig music guy in the in the other
hall or in the other room inthe hall, Manny Many Fresh, not
to be confused with Manny Fresh fromCash Money Records, Right, Yeah,
I feel your dog. Yeah, just saying, man, it's the opportunity
is there. It's let low hangingfruit that we could just probably probably get

(37:15):
discovered. Right And you know what, before we start making our Christmas album,
Many's gonna look at us and say, I'm just gonna let you guys
cook. Well, if you haveit. Yeah, I'm not gonna associate
with anybody who doesn't let us cook. You know what I'm saying. If
you if you don't let somebody cook, then then get the hell out of
the way. Well, then you'renot a chef. You're exactly. I

(37:37):
mean, you're not enhancing, right, somebody's ability to be a chef.
So do you tell your son, since he's an executive chef, do you
tell him, Hey, man,I'm just gonna let you cook. I
don't need to because even if Ihear right, he ain't playing. Man,
have you ever heard of somebody sayI don't play no the first time?
Yeah? You know, when youknow, when you hear like some
of the words of the motivational speakingthat I do on this show, and

(37:59):
you like lookhim in your like, wow, dude, I've never heard that.
Oh you mean, like score morepoints than the other team, you
win one hundred percent of the time. Great motivational speech for riveting. But
like I said back, I letyou cook right, right exactly. So
when you just said, you know, he don't mess around and you don't
play like, I've never heard that, Oh, he don't play like.
I'm about first to share, right, Yeah, Well I'm you know,

(38:20):
I'm a vibe. Oh damn,Yeah, I'm a vibe. We need
to He's a vibe. We needto get that. There's a big day
hard He's the system. He's thesystem. Well that system they're own five
with him. Yeah, I'm avibe. I feel like I'm a vibe
though, just I really that's why, dude, I'm a vibe. Wrong

(38:42):
with you? I don't know,but I feel like a vibe today today
or every day every day? Today, say I'm talking about motivational speech.
I live in a moment, Okay, I live in the moment. You're
if you're stuck in the past, you're left behind. Huh. If you're
worried about the future, you can'ttake there of the present, so you're
not going to get where you wantto go in the future. So I'm
just living in my vibe right now, Okay, right now, And if

(39:09):
you want to be part of thevibe, ah, knock three times on
the ceiling and maybe I'll let youin to why the ceiling? You ever
heard that song knock three times onin if you won't hold me knock why?
I think it's if somebody's living aboveyou, you know, twice on
the pipe means the answer is no, means you meet me you know about

(39:38):
meeting people in the hallway at yourapartment structure. Don't you knock three times?
I believe knock three times? Yeah? Do I know about what?
You know? Well? It saysand twice on the pipe means the answer
is no. On the what dumpbump bump means you'll meet me in the
hallway. So basically, I meanyou had an apartment knock three times?

(39:59):
If you said, yeah, haveyou ever gone down like you picked up
on anybody in the hallway at yourapartment complex? No? You haven't.
Okay, why not? Doesn't everybodygo to like wine Thursdays or something?
You mean down Wednesdays at their apartment? Yeah, Thursday, Yeah, yeah,

(40:19):
we have a little wine down Wednesday. I mean, sing this to
her and you'll pull her. Whatthe hell is this? Just give me
a little volume to that must weYeah? Right now, there's some people
right right now. Biscuit right nowis going be blown now, Tony Orlando.

(40:39):
All right, so you want totie yellow ribbon around the old old
tree, you know, Daz.She listens to us at atx Hobo girl
on uh on. She loves rightnow and I would love to know what
she thinks of this song. Thissong meansy answer, Oh, it makes
you ain't gonna show? Yeah,if you? If she you're just twice

(40:59):
on the pipe means the answers noand you're not gonna show. So you're
telling me this is a vibe.Oh dude, I am a vibe,
and so is Tony Orlando. Thinkabout this. Okay, the next time
you think you're gonna pull at yourapartment complex, whatever that is, I
want you to start. Put thison, Turn this up, crank it
up. You know when your neighborslike, dude, turn the volume down
it's Wednesday. Yeah, but whenit's wine, what is it called?
Wind down Wednesday? Turn that thingup. And then all of a sudden

(41:21):
go like this, like if there'ssomebody lives blow you think it's pretty fine,
So thine what a jam? Andthen what happens when listen the words?
You know, like the maintenance staffcomes and knocks on my door and
says, hey man, why areyou knocking on the floor. Simply tell
him You're not part of my vibe. So I should tell him, hey

(41:42):
man, I'm trying to cook.Means to me me the way. Yeah,
what music did you listen to?You? D this was a this
was this ain't in my Spotify, okay, but I'm just saying this has
been a vibe forever Tony Orlando andDons old school seventies. Man, we'll
get old again on this cut.You asked for it, I didn't.
So do you mean you listen tothis? Seventies on seven? I have

(42:05):
before? You have? Yeah, been known to tell me if this isn't
kind of a jam for you, you're starting to feel a little bit.
I'd rather listen to a hall ofnotes beyond, of course, but just
sometimes you got to step outside ofyour own comfort zone. It really doesn't
have like a banger vibe to it. I like the trump in the background.
Just try it at home, tryit at the crib, knock three
times on the seal and see ifyou can pull. So what is this

(42:27):
song about? Like these dudes areliving in an apartment complex and they got
a zoid that lives upstairs and they'reknocking three times. Yeah, do you
want some come on down? Yeah? Wants to play? Yeah, there
you go. So this is thevibe for you? No, it's I
said you listen. I could listen. Yeah, I could take I could
take a bag over my head andturn it into a vibe. Okay,

(42:49):
it's all about attitude. So yousay that's not the vibe. I can
turn that song into a vibe andfind somebody who loves the cut. Uh
huh, just like I can.I can do pretty much just about it.
I mean, yeah, if yougotta vibe, you can break through
barriers. Right wow, wow,I doubt if you're if you're pulling at
your apartment complex, I would doubt, like when you're pouring wine, you're

(43:12):
going out to meet him on wineout Wednesday or whatever Wednesday, and you're
like really cheesy and stuff right pickingup. My first thing is I doubt
you'll invite him up and pump inon your on your cuts. I doubt
you're gonna pump in Tony Orlando andDawn on. Yeah, knock three times
on the ceiling. But but yousee, if it's not it's like it's

(43:34):
like the haircut or not real quick. Okay, if you get a haircut,
if you have it's not the hair, it's it's it's the it's was
the hair dude or does the dudemake the hair dude? Makes the hair
or the lack thereof right, it'sa vibe. Hey, we got a
couple of comments here real quick beforewe get to the top of the hour.
Hodgepack sports up in Abilene, hesaid, just got in the car
and I'm jamming out here in AbileneBingo. He was at the Battle of

(43:55):
I twenty McMurray beat the Lobos andthen uh, what, no, there's
no yes, sir, a greata great leader takes the takes it on
the chin. You guys got youask he did, can take your punish.
And then at b dizz seventeen,Brandon says, what is Sean smoking
with a crying laughing emoji? Thissong is so random? A little bit

(44:20):
of what this song is so random? And well, you asked for it.
I just said, I mean,I was just you asked me about
a vibe, Yeah, and vibe. I said, I'm a vibe,
and so I gave you a cutthat even that cut can make you a
vibe. Well, might have toadd that in. I mean she might
have parted hair down the middle andfeathered on the side, so you have
shagged carpet at the crib. Butother than that, that's a vibe is

(44:43):
Jijing ping a vibe? Uh?Well for that goofball in California, the
California governor, he might be.For a normal human being, He's not.
No, he's not not at all. Let's get to the uh seven

the Cardinals on Sunday at NRG Stadium. Garrett Cole and Blake Snell winning the
Cy Young Awards in Major League Baseball. Draymond Green suspended five games for his

(46:19):
role in a skull the other nightin the NBA. Deshaun Watson gonna be
out for the season for the Browns. Well, how does that affect the
Houston Texans. Obviously they got somedraft picks. I guess before we get
to the draft pick Sean. Howdo you think with him being out,
how does that affect the AFC playoffpicture. Well, I think it affects

(46:40):
it a lot. I mean, you're talking about they're in position to win
the division. They're in position.Your two best offensive players are now hurt
when it comes to I mean I'mtalking about skilled to them. You know,
they've got some good offensive lineman there, but it's and Mamar Cooper is
a good player and all that, but the it's two Bester, Chubb and
Watson, And it affects it becausethat AFC North right now has four teams

(47:07):
that are going to battle for aplayoff spot and they're one of them,
and then the winner of that divisionis going to surely be battle tested and
say thanks, we need a break. If they can continue on and find
a way, it's going to betough to get home field advantage throughout with
that division. But you start tothink about sometimes and look around for the
Texans also with Jacksonville up and down. The way the Texans are playing,
they've already beat a team in thatdivision and lost to another one. It

(47:30):
just put it this way, you'dlike to as many good teams are on
the North and there's some teams thatare hanging around. The AFC to me,
is a stronger conference, a deepershould I say with depth wise that
you could actually get to nine winsand you want to eliminate any team you
can if possible. Now, itdoesn't mean the Browns aren't going to make
the playoffs. They've already posted sixwins. So then truth is, if

(47:53):
they play five hundred football the restof the way, they're going to make
playoffs. They go for and they'regoing to get ten wins more likely make
the playoffs as a wild card. You'd think, now we've had seasons when
a ten win team hasn't made theplayoffs. So yeah, to me,
you're just trying to eliminate one. You'd love it if one team could go
by the wayside and say okay, and then you get rid of them,

(48:15):
and then all of a sudden, think about that, if Pittsburgh's offense continues
to do this, how do theykeep up? Now you've said, okay,
could it possibly be two teams?Because going into this year there wasn't
one of us. It said twoteams from the AFC. I mean the
AFC South are going to make theplayoffs. Nobody thought that. Now,
depending on what happens at quarterback andhow the depth is there and Pittsburgh,

(48:37):
you have two teams that are battledfor playoff that have already posted six wins
season, I mean six wins inPittsburgh and Cleveland. If if the one's
offense sucks and the other's offense isgoing to be greatly reduced without Deshaun Watson,
then you just creates one more spotfor you and one less team to
have to compete with. But playingfive hundred football, can a backup quarterback

(49:00):
do that for them? Meaning Cleveland? So yeah, it affects them.
But if you're the Texans, youare, honestly, I guarantee you if
you went and asked Dimico, Ryansor anybody, you know what their first
thing is to say, We're notworried about the Cleveland Browns. Yeah,
we're worried about Tank. Care whatwe do and guess what. Look now,
push forward down the road. DeshaunWatson and the Texans play each other.

(49:23):
That very well could be for thelast wild card and if you beat
them, then it so you're goingto get that head to head opportunity against
them, and without Watson, thechances to win are greatly increased for the
Houston Texans. Yeah, the game'son a Christmas Eve. As it stands
right now. You mentioned the PittsburghSteelers, they have the five seed in

(49:47):
the AFC, and then the Brownsare at six, the Texans at seven,
Bengals at eight, So that roundsout the bottom four in the playoff
hunt. Here where are we atnine games? In ten games? In
Chiefs, Ravens, Jags, Dolphins, Steelers, Browns, Texans, Bengals,

(50:07):
then the Colts and the Bills andobviously the bottom tier of the AFC.
So I think with Obviously, withall of those AFC North teams fighting
for a playoff spot, Deshaun Watsongoing out is massive right for the playoff
picture. But then you got toremember that the Texans still have the Browns

(50:28):
twenty twenty four first round pick, and with him going out, if they
lose more games, that's gonna makethat pick better pick right now sits at
number twenty four, right, andyou've got the Browns defense ranked number one
and total defense and they're going toface four teams who average under twenty points
to finish the year for the Browns. So right now, if you're asking

(50:50):
me that, that's the next layerto this the effect of what draft pick
I mean where they're get what they'regiving up, right, So, yeah,
it is. So they're sitting wherenow twenty four as of right now,
that's what they get, yeah, meaning the uh for Watson, that's
what the Texans are going to getat twenty four. Correct. The ABB

I think it affects it a lot. I mean, you're talking about

the Texans are playing, they've alreadybeat a team in that division and lost

(53:32):
to another one. It just putit this way, you'd like to as
many good teams are in the North, and there's some teams that are hanging
around. The AFC to me,is a stronger conference a deeper should I
say with depth wise that you couldactually get the nine wins and you want
to eliminate any team you can ifpossible. Now, it doesn't mean the

(53:52):
Browns aren't going to make the playoffs. They've already posted six wins. So
then truth is, if they playfive hundred football the way they're going to
make the playoffs, they go fourand four, they're gonna get ten wins
more likely make the playoffs as awild card. You'd think. Now we've
had seasons when a ten win teamhasn't made the playoffs. So yeah,
to me, you're just trying toeliminate one. You'd love it if one

(54:15):
team could go by the wayside andsay okay, and then you get rid
of them, and then all ofa sudden, think about that, if
Pittsburgh's offense continues to do this, how do they keep up? Now you've
said, okay, could it possiblybe two teams? Because going into this
year there wasn't one of us.It said two teams from the AFC.
I mean the AFC South are goingto make the playoffs. Nobody thought that

(54:35):
though, Now depending on what happensat quarterback and how the depth is there
and Pittsburgh. You have two teamsthat are battle for playoff that have already
posted six wins season. I meansix wins in Pittsburgh and Cleveland. If
if there one's offense sucks and theother's offense is going to be greatly reduced
without Deshaun Watson, then you justcreates one more spot for you and one

(54:58):
less team to have to compete with. But playing five hundred football, I
mean, can a backup quarterback dothat for them? Meaning Cleveland? So
yeah, it affects them. Butif you're the Texans, you are,
honestly, I guarantee you if youwent and asked Dimico Ryans or anybody,
you know what their first thing isgoing to say. We're not worried about
the Cleveland Browns. Yeah, We'reworried about taking care of what we do

(55:19):
and guess what. Look now, push forward down the road. Deshaun Watson
and the Texans play each other thatvery well could be for the last wild
card and if you beat them, then it so you're going to get that
head to head opportunity against them, and without Watson, the chances to win

(55:42):
are greatly increased for the Houston Texans. Yeah, the game's on a Christmas
Eve. As it stands right now, you mentioned the Pittsburgh Steelers, they
have the five seed in the AFC, and then the Browns are at six,
the Texans at seven, Bengals ateight, So that rounds out the
bottom four in the playoff hunt herewhere we at nine games in ten games

(56:05):
in Chiefs, Ravens, Jags,Dolphins, Steelers, Browns, Texans,
Bengals, then the Colts and theBills, and obviously the bottom tier of
the AFC. So I think withobviously, with all of those AFC North
teams fighting for a playoff spot,Deshaun Watson going out is massive right for
the playoff picture. But then yougot to remember that the Texans still have

(56:30):
the Browns twenty twenty four first roundpick, and with him going out,
if they lose more games, that'sgonna make that pick better pick right now
sits at number twenty four, andyou've got the Browns defense ranked number one
and total defense, and they're goingto face four teams who average under twenty
points to finish the year for theBrowns. So right now, if you're

(56:52):
asking me that that's the next layerto this, the effect of what draft
pick. I mean where they're getwhat they're giving up, right, So
yeah, it is. So they'resitting where now twenty four as of right
now, that's what they get, yeah, meaning the uh for Watson,
that's what the Texans are going toget at twenty four. Correct, And

(57:15):
that's a big help because you Imean, without Watson that changes that now
they can't think about that either.Obviously when all this, when the seasons
said and done, you want todo it. But the Texans, I
mean, I put it this way, if the Cleveland Browns over the next
eight games can play six and threefootball with a backup quarterback, what are

(57:35):
you going to do? Right?I don't believe they can. But and
you said it's sitting at twenty fournow, so it is you know that
part when I was just talking abouton the field play. But of course
Watson as far as slot and thedraft pick where they're drafting. Of course,
the Watson in availability makes it awhole different ballgame for the Houston Texans,
which they're like, Okay, thisis different story now, well do

(57:59):
you mean it is? And you'dlike that to keep creeping up so you
could get yourself one of the teamswould be great, but I don't know
how they're gonna lose. I don'tsee the Cleveland Browns. So let me
just put to you this way. With that defense, and they're gonna commit
to running the football, even withCream Hunt, right, who's a good
player, I don't see how they'rewhat two and six the rest of the
way. Yeah, in their schedule, I mean, they've got the Steelers

(58:22):
this weekend at the Broncos at theRams home against the Jags home against the
Bears at the Texans home, againstthe Jets at the Bengals. So there's
still a few tough games for thisteam, meaning the Browns and obviously against
the Texans on Christmas Eve. Butthe Jets not very good, Bears terrible,

(58:44):
what kind of Jaguars team will showup for that game? Broncos up
and down, Rams not very good? And then obviously it's an AFC North
matchup against Steelers this weekend. Sothere's a couple of games that are still
gonna be tough test for that Brownsteam. But if they can, if
they lose, that's obviously going tomake that Texans pick go up. And
you know there's gonna be some thingsthat need to be added to this team

(59:05):
regardless of how they finish, right, And like you said, hell if
you go from twenty four to eighteen, you'll take it, right. Yeah,
So yeah, that effect it's onthe field, but effects obviously in
April, what happens next year wheneverthe draft is April early May, whatever
that falls on. Do you thinkdo you think the Browns can maintain winning
with PJ Walker or the winning rightnow? If you're them beg for a

(59:28):
five hundred record, just give meif you you're not going to tell your
team that you're saying, you're goingto the approach of a doesn't matter,
next man up. You're going touse all the speeches you give and hope
the guy goes and plays well enoughto get you. If they go five
and three, they're they're in theplayoffs and may win the division with eleven
wins. Right, So yeah,it's you know what stay of the court

(59:49):
can they go for? And foryes they can, they can go for
and four and ten wins should havethem right there. Get in. But
there's also that thing, you know, you don't know how good one of
these guys, young players, andnow we're getting to a point where it's
gonna get colder, it's going tobe tougher to play. It feels it
hits a little different. I meanyeah, it's going to be a completely
different battle and a completely different battlenow when they as they go with the

(01:00:16):
guy because the comfortability with a guywho's just a better playmaker. With Deshaun
Watson, you're just better. That'sjust well, let me ask you this,
as good as Davis Mills can be, would you feel comfortable then making
the playoffs of C. J.Stroud wasn't playing the last eight weeks.
No five hundred football? There yougo, there you go. Yeah,
I mean they can, but fivehundred football it'll be a tall task.

(01:00:38):
Right, Let's get to the steakeout next. Right here on the Shawn
Salisbury Show, you Spindle Tap Breweryjust outside the Loop. I'm telling you,

Let the celebration start. War SewnSalisbury. It's a Sewn Salisbury show,

(01:02:34):
all right, Sean? What areyou hearing out there? Now?
The Salisbury stakeout? Salisbury's takeout onthe Sean Salisbury Show. It's time for
the stakeout right here on the ShawnSalisbury Show. Let's go to Major League
baseball. You know what I'm hearingout there? I don't know what are

(01:02:57):
you? Absolutely nothing to the pavement? No, but I got my nose
to the grindstone. You know whatI'm saying. That's right? Yeah,
Yeah, that's right, that's right. Yeah, let's go to a Major
league baseball Hey, why can't seereal quick? Why can't see j Stroud
win the MVP? You don't knowwhy I mean if they don't make the
playoffs, he can didn't We havetwo cy young winners who neither one of

(01:03:19):
them? Yeah, and Blake Snelland Garrett Cole neither made the playoffs.
Maybe that maybe this is a littlewhat do we call it fore shadows?
I can say foreshadowing? Yeah, yeah, get CJ in there. Good
and playoffs matter more than the MVP. Winning both would be great. Yeah,
that would be great. Major LeagueBaseball's Competition Committee is weighing a proposal
that would reduce the pitch clock withrunners on base from twenty seconds to eighteen

(01:03:45):
seconds next season, aiming to reversea late season trend that saw the average
time of game increase by seven minutes. And what's your question should they do
it? Is that what you're asking? Did your life change for seven extra

(01:04:06):
minutes? No? I got alot of other baseball suggestions for them.
They're grading a vumpire thing would bea good start. You got a lot
of other things they can work onthan me. The time it takes you
to get up from your couch,go to your refrigerator, make yourself open

(01:04:31):
a cold beer, run in brushyou go to the restroom and come back
out and PLoP some in the microwave. Is about the time you know you're
going to heat up your meal fromthe day before. That's your seven minutes
and we're really going to haggle.Listen, if you're a baseball fan in

(01:04:51):
the postseason and late season trend hasyou bitching about seven frigging minutes, about
well, it's seven minutes I've nevergot back, then quit watching baseball,
take your ass and go do somethingelse. If you're really in that type.
The last thing I'm now, thereare times like when it's a twelve
inning game, you know, likeyou're doing that. But back before we

(01:05:12):
put a runner on second. Whatwas at the Red Sox game like eighteen
innings of the postseason and Camber youknow when when Kimberll was pitching, I
can I can remember it was eitherthe World Series or postseason. I didn't
get up. I didn't miss apitch that date. And I'm like even
then, I'm like, man,it's getting late, But you know what,
I didn't even think about hitting thesheets, right. I just to
me, are we really looking?Hey guys? If you're television, you

(01:05:32):
know what you should be doing sayingokay, if it's seven minutes. There's
more delays. Great, just throwmore ad time in there and make you
more money. To me, ifyou really are, then you just don't
love baseball. Now if you toldme it was forty eight extra minutes because
of the extra few So we're gonnatrim two seconds and we're gonna keep adding

(01:05:56):
up all these seconds. We're gonnawe're gonna reduce the quality of baseball to
maximize your extra seven minutes. Yep. If that is what you're doing,
then then you've probably should quit watchingpostseason or late season baseball. If that's
seven minutes really is the difference inyou having a great day. I've got
a suggestion, take your ten minutepower nap at two thirty in the afternoon
and you'll be fine. Yeah. Also in this same proposal, they want

(01:06:18):
to shave that clock down as wellas cut down on mound visits from five
per game to four. Are thethings that these rules committees and change in
the game. Would I tell youevery year you got to change something to
change something? Yeah? Now,with two seconds matter, well, I
saw two seconds at the end thatI mean two seconds at the end there

(01:06:41):
the guys would push the clock tillthe end they'll wind up and pitch right.
Yep, Why do we are we? Are you? Are you complaining
over seven extra minutes? No?No, not in the late season?
Are you really complaining? But areyou okay the difference scene two fifty one
and two fifty eight. Is thatbothering you during the season? Not at
all. I just didn't notice it. Yes, I don't understand it.
If you love baseball, Yeah, there are those times. Oh my gosh,

(01:07:02):
it's twelve to one, it's thefifth ending and they've they got eight
pitchers. I mean, I getit. Then you know what, turn
the TV off and don't watch thedamn thing. It's a blowout anyway,
And if you miss a twelve run, comeback, DVR the damn thing and
go watch it the next day onyour time, and you could skip through
the extra seven minutes you didn't wantto watch because it was taking too much
time. I think it's just dumbthat every off season, because certain people

(01:07:27):
on this committee get paid, wejust got to change to change. Sometimes
things don't need changed, and thethings they're not changing do need some changing,
like getting balls and strikes correct asoften as possible. I just to
me that if the seven minutes reallybothers you, Then, you know what,
then you're a clock watching what thegame going on, and you're not
really paying attention anyway. So Iif that's the biggest issue major League Baseball

(01:07:50):
has, boy, baseball is reallyin good shape to me. And then
speeding up mound visits and stuff fourof them. What if the one guy
needs it as a closer and youcan't get to I We've already changed it
to make it. The game wassped up this year during the season.
So what it takes a little longerin the postseason. Everything takes a little

(01:08:10):
longer in the postseason, and you'retrying to get it right. We got
bigger fish to fry than seven extraminutes. And if you're a fan and
you can't handle seven extra minutes, then take your ass to bed. Seven
minutes doesn't bother me. It shouldn'tat all. It's not that the extra
sell you know what, the sevenminutes most people are gonna do. They're
sitting there, watch it, getoff your damn phone. I was gonnay
the seven extra minutes. You don'thave to go on social media on your

(01:08:30):
phone and sit there and bs yourselfand waste that seven minutes. Okay,
I like the drama baseball. I'mokay with extra seven minutes. I'm fine
with it changing. Just to changei'd i'd be staying on the table in
that meeting room saying, could youguys change something else? Enough of this
crap? You guys are that botheredby seven extra minutes after what was a
really good fun baseball season to watch? Stop it? Yeah, let's don't

(01:08:53):
stop it. Let's hold our umpiresaccountable. How about that. That's a
good start. Maybe change that up. So let's get out to the phone
line seven one three two one twofive seven. Iight's go to Randall,
Randall, what's up? Hey,good morning man? Seven minutes doesn't make
a difference. Uh. They takingthe fun out of baseball? What about
rain delays? What about pigeons? What about people's running on the field naked?

(01:09:14):
Uh? And I think it's adistraction to the umpires because they have
to watch the clock and watch thepitch. You know, it's a total
distraction. And I think Draymond Greenshould be traded. Let's bust his bubble
and trade him because he's not biggerthan basketball or the Golden State Warriors.

(01:09:35):
I just don't understand him. It'stime for him to go. Thank you,
Randall great said, He's so rightfirst off, about the umpire's job
does get tougher. Now, yougotta have you seen on the mound watching
the pictures. Now, how theireyes dart to the clock, dark dark?
Guess who else has to watch theclock? The empire? Yeah,
and he's got It's tough enough tocall balls and strikes with these guys throwing

(01:09:55):
one hundred and then and throwing adog on uh uh slide piece or an
off speed pitch or a ball thatdives down on a cutter. You got
to pay attention. It's not aneasy job. Why are we making their
job more difficult? Randall's exactly righttaking the fun out. If it's exactly
right, well seven minutes. Ifyou love baseball, come on, are
we really trying to? Are arewe really splitting hairs like this? It's

(01:10:17):
just stupid? And then I wantless left. Why don't we just do
Why don't you guys just be dumbenough? Why don't you just cancel all
mound visits? Just cancel them all, and let's let's play the game in
an hour and twenty minutes. Andget crappy ass baseball and crappy ass ump.
And how's that? Let's just dothat, take every bit of stretch.
Matter of fact, I got agreat idea. Put man holes at
second base, first base and thirdbase, and if the guy doesn't slide

(01:10:40):
right, he just falls in anddies. Why don't you just do that
to him? Breaks? I mean, what are we doing here? I
got a great hey, take abase, you know, like you'll see
a cartoon take. Just put aneight by eight out there to where you
only got to. All you gotto do is stretch, and from you
could keep your left foot on firstbase and put your right hand on the
second base. What are we doinghere? And with time can the picture

(01:11:02):
like it goes back to this? All we want is offense. Yep,
that's it, because you know what, who does it benefit the picture or
the hitter? That's going to benefitthe hitter normally because he guys speed up,
he's got to watch it. All'sthe hitter as say, oh,
I got to be in by thistime. He's got it right out there
in a big old screen. Boompop in. It's easy to go.
Yep, for the we do it. We are taking a fun in Randall's

(01:11:23):
wouldn't it be a slap in Draymond'sface? And Draymond is not bigger than
the game at times. I thinkhe feels like he is though, Yeah,
Randall spot on that with his andnow Draymond's a hell of a player,
but he's also you start to wonderwin is the headache bigger than him
and having him? And I thinkit's he's a distraction at times, but
he's a hell of a player,the hell of a player. But he
does this stuff all the time.He puts his team in the mind it.

(01:11:44):
Yes, yes, five games.I thought they would have done more,
Yes, but they did not.All right, that's going to do
it for the Steakouts. Keep ontalking baseball. What' should the Astros do
when it comes to some contracts thisoffseason? Let's gouss the next on sports
Stalk seven to eighty. This isthe show, Salis Green, show sales
grea. That's beautiful. They seeme rolling, hating, patrolling and trying

(01:12:24):
to gets me right, trying tokiss me, riding dirty, trying to
kiss me, ritting dirty, tryingto kiss me, riding dirt, trying
to get meday my music soul.Mattress Mac gonna come hang out with us
for a couple of minutes here aroundseven forty, gonna talk about a first
Responder's giveaway which is coming up atthe North Gallery Furniture headquarters that's on Monday,

(01:12:46):
November twentieth. And also he's gotanother one going on, the Caretaker
Christmas Giveaway holiday season. Gallery Furniturewants to give away one hundred caretakers of
family members a great tempor pedic mattressso they can sleep and continue providing loving
care every day. So we've gotMattress mamcing to join us set around seven
this segment. Obviously, we knoweverything the Mattress Mac does for this community,

(01:13:11):
the city quite frankly, other statesthat are in neat as well,
and we're getting ready to get intothe holiday season, so you know he's
gonna be doing anything and everything hecan to provide for the less fortune that's
coming up at seven forty. Healways does it' sure it does yep.
With the Astros offseason, a coupleof reports that came out a couple of

(01:13:32):
days ago that we discussed briefly, what should they do with jose Al Tuve
when his contract comes up after thisnext season. Alex Bregman is in the
same boat you've got from er Valdezanother contract, Kyle Tucker, Let's let's
talk Bregman first. All right, what do you want to know? Well,

(01:13:54):
I saw you comment on something earlier. Okay, what did I comment
on? It was too peeps though, Yeah, I know what I commented
on. Yeah it was. Let'ssee. I want to read it correctly
here. I want to keep merolling. You like that million day?
Yeah, that is the cut. There was a tweet that was put out
by Michael schwab Manny Machado signed athree hundred and fifty million dollar deal over

(01:14:17):
eleven years with the Padres. AlexBregman most likely could get could get three
hundred mili over ten if you reallywanted. That's what happened when Machado's set
that market. Do you really thinkBregman will return on a team friendly after
twenty twenty four. I don't know. I don't know if he'll return on
a team friendly. I don't knowif he'll be here, but I can
tell you this, he's not goingto sniff three hundred million for ten years.

(01:14:40):
Yeah, there's no way. Agedifference between him and Machada when Michada
got his one two is well.Bregman's a hell of a player. There's
nobody in I mean, he couldif he wanted me and I think Michael,
I mean, if he decided toleave somebody's pain of three hundred there's
not a team in Major League Baseballit's given Alex Bregman three hundred million for
ten years, and that's not gonnahappen. There's no way. I think

(01:15:04):
there was a comment on there.Marcus Simeon got what a bucks seventy something
for six or seven years. That'smore like it. There's no way if
you pay it. And I gotall those respect in the world for the
Alex bregmant think he's a hell ofa player, hell of a competitor.
I don't know if I've seen abetter eye in baseball since Tony Gwynn.
I mean, there's a guy Imeans just the way. And I can

(01:15:24):
say that because I've watched I satthere and grew up watching Tony Gwynn the
same town I was in. AndI'm not saying he's as good. He's
not as good a hitter as Gwynn, but I'm talking about his ability to
command the plate and know the strikezone is uncanny. But I can tell
you this, there is There's noAlex Bregman cannot command three hundred million dollars

(01:15:45):
for ten years. If somebody paysthat, let him have him. There's
no way. I couldn't. There'sno way he's sniffs three hundred million.
Kyle Tucker is gonna get three hundredmillion somewhere probably close to it. If
somebody's willing to go ten years, you're not going. You're not giving Alex
Bregman ten year contract and going topay him three hundred million dollars. Sof

(01:16:08):
of the course of that time, there's no way. If that's If that's
the case, if I was JimCrane, I'd say have at it.
There's no way. So for Machado, when he signed his ten year,
three hundred million dollar contract coming upon five years ago, he was twenty
six years old. Bregman right nowis coming up on thirty being thirty years

(01:16:29):
old, and it'll be thirty onewith that contract right around then somewhere that
so, yeah, he'll be thirtyone, coming up on thirty two.
Actually, yeah, no, shotnow that's no disrespect to Bregman. I
hate to tell you this. He'snot worth three hundred million and ten years,
but I don't think many are.I think that's rarefied air. Yeah,
And a lot of times when youdo pay that for somebody, they
don't live up to it. Theydon't live up to it. There's no

(01:16:54):
there's no way. And I thinkAlex Bregman's one of the best third basemen
in the league, both to theplayton in the field. He's up for
a goal Glove every year. Listen, there's no way. Yeah, Well,
if you're not paying Carlos Korea threehundred million, why are you paying
Alex Bregman three hundred million? Right? Good point. And Correaz was younger
when the three hundred million was comingto fruition. If he wanted it,

(01:17:15):
yep, or wanted it, there'sno way. And I think a lot
of people thought, well, he'lljust go get three hundred million somewhere else.
There wasn't a team in the leaguethat was willing to give him three
hundred for ten years, And there'sno way. If I'm a GM and
Scott Boris calls me up and says, we want ten years, three hundred
million dollars. I'm saying we'll pass. And that is, like I said,
has zero to do with my respectand admiration for Alex Bregman's game.

(01:17:40):
He ain't ten years, three hundreddollars now. He's worth what he can
negotiate. Even the Great Scott Borisain't sniffing three hundred million for ten years
for Alex Bregman. Xander Bogart's thirtyone years old playing shortst off of the
padres. He's making twenty five pointfour a year. Alex Bregman is going
to make thirty mil a year.Okay. So now if you're saying,
Sean somebody paid him one hundred andtwenty million for four years, okay,

(01:18:04):
let's just say for then they say, okay, that's fair to me.
It may even be still yearly,a tad high, a tad high.
But there's no friggin way ten years, three hundred million dollars. That's not
happened, not for that length.Speaking of a guy who can, we
should pay ten years, three hundredmillion dollars to Mattress Mack. How you

(01:18:27):
doing, buddy, Hey, letme I'll grab it real quick. Talking
to that one. Nope, we'llhave him talking that one's I think is
working here back. How you doing, buddy, I'm great, a good,
great to have you in with us. Man, we were just talking
about Alex Bregman and ten years threehundred million. We're just talking about what

(01:18:47):
contracts are going to be in frontof the Astros. You know, nine
outs away from another World Series.A lot of money. A lot of
people aren't paying ten years three hundredmillion these days? Are they them?
Both fishing? I don't think he'sgetting that again either, but he's gonna
get it to sit it hold nowand have a cold beer. So ye,
seventy five million of it back.Always great to have you in and

(01:19:10):
all twelve months is your time ofyear, but I know there's at this
time of year it's it's even steppedup even more. And we got two
things I want to first hit inhere. You're the First Responders give away
Monday, November twentieth. Tell usabout it. Yeah, we're gonna we
teamed up with our friends at SimmsBeauty Rest Mattress coming. You're gonna give
away one hundred mattresses the first Responders. If you're a farming policeman at MT

(01:19:32):
and you can have your badge, your ID. Come out to the gallery
Frontshire Mind in November twenty sean whenseven and nine am get their early.
People line up all night long, and we'll give away a one hundred matches
courtesy of Simmons Beauty Rest, andwe have turkeys and hams the courtesy of
Kroger. Or you get a SimmisBeauty Rest mattress and a Turkey era ham
for Thanksgiving so you can sleep greatand eat great and we say thank you

(01:19:55):
all those first responders. So Ihave to eat that ham of turkey.
That mattress could be sitting right therewith your livery. They could go lay
all that thing and you ready togo knock the self out. That's it
exactly right, and Max, that'son the twentieth. Let me make sure
I get it right. Twentieth ofNovember on a Monday, Monday the twentieth,
we start giving away at seven o'clock. People probably lining up all night.
So if you're the first finder toget there early and you get that
Simmis Beauty Rest mattress and that Kroger'sham or turkey, would be a great

(01:20:18):
day. Are you do you cook, Matt macs? Are you a cooker?
With that? Cook water? Solet me ask you real quick,
what's your favorite holiday meal? Imean, are you a turkey a ham
guy? Is it one of thefixings? Are you a stuffing guy?
What's your favorite thing? Like turkey? You do? Yeah? Turkey and
stuffy. Yeah, reminds me ofreminds me of my mother used to making

(01:20:42):
for us kids. It was aidyllic situation. But you're but you're still
not boiling water, is what you'resaying. Going even if you even if
you did cook, cook water, boil water? Do you even have time?
I'm either selling mattresses or sleeping ona match. Probably not. I
was gonna say, the only waythat happens if it's actually at his store
for the waters where he's working.I'm just glad to see you on the
tower anymore. Thank you. Howwas that? It was seventy two days

(01:21:06):
of It was fun, but itwas very hot and very loud. I
haven't had there's a car in Houstonhas a muffler mattress. Mac joins us.
That again is Monday, November twentieth. It's the first Responders giveaway and
first one hundred people in line receivea free turkey or ham and a free
mattress from Gallery Furniture and Mac.All right, then you have the Caretaker

(01:21:28):
Christmas Giveaway, which is really awesometo talk to us about it. We've
been giving away furniture for forty twoyears to needy families and as I've been
up there over the years, myanecdotales knowledge is so many people come in
there with a adult child who's gotdown syndrome or something, and those parents
are loving and caring for that childtheir entire life, you know, or
somebody never stops caring right and neverstops carrying. Are some forty year old

(01:21:51):
couple comes in there caring for theirelderly parents. So those caregivers to me
are the modern day saints. Soone of the things it takes to give
great cares a great night sleep. So we're gonna give away one hundred premium
mattresses to caregivers. Just right tome Mac at Gallifirnshire dot Com tells you
what you do and who you takecare of them. We give away one
hundred matches to caregivers our way ofsaying thank you so they can provide even

(01:22:15):
greater care of their loved one.And when you see that, it restores
your faith in mankind and this crazyupside down world. People selflessly helping their
loved one or their relative or justtheir neighbors very inspiring. Yeah, I
just Mac, when it comes toboth of these giveaways, what does it
mean to you when this type ofseason, we all know that everything you
do for the city, for thiscommunity, no other states that are in

(01:22:36):
need. But as we get closerto the holidays, what does it mean
to be able to provide and tohelp needy families and less fortunate, especially
the kids. You know, it'sgreat to help the people that are less
fortunate because we're trying to give thesepeople a leg up and let them have
a better life. And for forinstance, the first responders, they're risking
their life every day for all ofus, So giving them a simis beauty

(01:22:59):
risk bat just check your hand isjust a simple way of saying thank you.
And I think the first responders andthese caregeers don't get thanked enough,
and their life is twenty four toseven caring for other people. How can
you leave the lead a more fulfillinglife than that? Yeah, Mac,
I think you make such a greatpoint. I think there's times, I
mean, we do in first respondersand our military and people that are less
fortunate, the homeless, which allneed care. It does feel at times,

(01:23:23):
and not on purpose then, andmaybe maybe I'm wrong, but from
a distance it almost feels at timeswe do. Because if you've had and
I had a caretaker in my familythat takes care, you know, when
when somebody can't change, when they'reold and chant it out of bed and
are dying, and caretaker there andit's a constant, a constant, daily
grind, and they do it ata love man. And I think for

(01:23:45):
some most of us, I don'twant to say, we take it for
granted, but they do get overlooked, don't they. Mac I absolutely get
overlooked. And at the same timethey're overworked, but they never complain.
They just keep going and keep trucking, and they show that love for that
loved one, of that parent ofthat child. I got people come out
there all the time with their fortyyear old son or daughter who has severe

(01:24:06):
autism or down syndrome, and youknow they never abandoned that child. They
stayed in the fight. You gotto love those people. Oh my gosh,
you do. I I had oneof my best friends had a son,
Sam with Down syndrome insta he's stillalive. And yeah, and I
just the way every single day.Yep. It's a and it's a it's

(01:24:28):
a labor it is. And whenyou you and you at times you say
man the grinder when we're talking, they don't look at as a grin.
It's the laborer love you're talking about. It's what they do. And I
do believe the old good Lord putthem on this earth because they're different and
special. I'm not even just talkingabout down centerm. I'm talking about the
caretakers who take care of them grownadults, kids all the way through life.

(01:24:48):
Because you're right, you know, when we get to a point of
your eighteen year old kid goes offto collegs around their own dad, I'll
see you when I need venmo, right, yeah, you know, need
a little cash pops. Right.I used to call my kids been,
Hey, what do you venmo?Dad? What do you do? Can
we They call and tell you theylove you, And then there's this whole
ball. There's always oh, bythe way, but when it comes to
the caretaking, it doesn't stop ateighteen. Now, we always love our

(01:25:10):
kids and they're always welcome, Butit doesn't stop at twenty, it doesn't
stop at fifty. It's a lifelonglabor of love. And it must give
you great satisfaction to see either thetears or the smile, not only on
the kids, but the adults andthe caretaker's face. Yes, it's inspiring
to see people who live a lifeof giving and caring for their loved ones.
And they, you know, toomuch for our society is throw away.

(01:25:32):
You can't throw away people. Yougotta love them and you got to
stay with them even when the watergets hot. So God bless all those
care Let me ask you something andwe talk about this. And I know
you you don't like it when peopleare complimenting you and all the stuff you
do. But why do you keepdoing all this? Man? I'm talking
about It doesn't matter if it's inMississippi, if it's in Houston, if

(01:25:54):
it's in Dallas, if it's inCalifornia, if it's a fire, if
it's a hurricane, if it's amattress, if it's somebody, We're somebody
can't sleep. You got mattresses aresleeping in your showroom on the mattresses.
Why do you continue to do thisgrind like you do every single week and
day of the year. You knowit said that we don't live in the
past, but past lives in us. I learned all this from my father.

(01:26:16):
A quick story I was at Iwas my father started vision went high
school, a large Catholic high schoolin Dallas. I was the third graduating
class, the first graduating class. One of the guys played quarterback. His
name was Jim, and my fathergot him a work to get him a
scholarship at Dartmouth College. You knowIvy League, you play football. So
Jim went up there for first semesterback then freshman, didn't play varsity and

(01:26:39):
played on the freshman team, didwell. Came home to Dallas to for
Christmas, and his family didn't havethe money to get him back to Dartmouth
College. So he's gonna have todrop out of this Ivy League education.
My father was afraid of flying allhis life. He put Jim in the
car, drove him back to DartmouthCollege, and if the guy ended up
graduating from Dartmouth, ended up beingVice chairman of the Royal Bank Canada in

(01:27:00):
large part because of the education hegot. And he always tells a story
about my father. So you know, when you have good roll, Miles,
it's easy to do. Boy,it sure is, and it lives
in you forever. And you're obviouslythe best example we have in this town
and maybe across the country. Isthat one sports question, please please?
What's it type for the Texas Longhornsto make the Final four? Man?

(01:27:20):
A little bit of luck? Luck? Yeah, George Alabama losing twice,
that's gonna help Florida State getting upto a couple of these undefeateds to get
to one loss. Now it's afree for all, right, because it's
hard when you're the conference champion.Even if then it gets down to you
don't want to leave it for youknow, if you're a one loss team

(01:27:41):
and somebody else a one lost teamand you're a conference champion both, then
you leave it up to thirteen orso people said that are roomed to decide
a little bit of luck, acouple of blowouts and a loss by a
team that down the stretch, maybeeven a loss by both Michigan and Ohio
State. Right one of the Idon't know how that's going to happen,
Michigan. You beat by Nebraska, but you're gonna get a little help.
You gotta need a little help fromthe PAC twelve and probably a little help

(01:28:03):
from the ACC if you can pullit off, and maybe if Georgia could
lose once and Alabama gets beat again, should be great to see those Longhorns
in Houston on January. Yes,well, I was gonna say that you
maybe, I don't know. MaybeI'll see on that long Horn football team.
I don't know. Before we letyou go back, can you tell

(01:28:23):

a difference and you did something forsomebody in a year. Can't imagine when
somebody goes, oh, you're adifference man. That dude's a difference maker
rolling out of bed. It's crazy. Yeah, always honored to have him

(01:35:36):
Cone Man Peg. This is theSeawan Salisbury Show, AYO two here in
Houston, Texas. Welcome into theShawn Salisbury Show on Sports Talk seven ninety
Sean, Brian and Triple are herewith you this morning on a Thursday.
Texans continuing practice this week ahead ofthe game against the Cardinals on Sunday at

(01:35:57):
NRG Stadium. Garrett Cole and BlakeSnell say you award winners in Major League
Baseball. Draymond Greens spent in fivegames for his role in a scuffle between
the Warriors and t Wolves. Let'stalk college football. College football playoff rankings
came out a couple of days ago. Georgia on top, Ohio state number

(01:36:20):
two, Michigan number three, Floridastate number four. I don't want to
talk about those teams. I wantto talk about Washington, Oregon and Texas.
Let's do this. Can I addsomething to that? Absolutely? Because
we're pozs Yes, Potzy is listenhere for a second. Pozzi. Alright,
Pods, Let's go one through eight, okay, and just you can

(01:36:43):
either go eight to one whatever. If you're a top to bottom guy or
a bottom to top guy. Idon't really care, all right, you
know what I'm saying, Pozzi,Yeah, yeah, I get okay,
yeah, and we're gonna say howwithout help from others or with a little
help from others, maybe we'll bothget maybe a sentence on how they get
in fair enough in our thought pot. Now, listen, there's a million
metrics to get it. You know, numbers that if this team, there's

(01:37:06):
a lot of ifs. I guesswhat I'm saying makes sense, But let's
just kind of give a from thevantage point of not us, but from
the committee's thinking, what they maybe thinking that would be the reason why
a team would or wouldn't get infair enough. So you can start at
the top. Georgia, Georgia wentout, no brainer, Yes, lose

(01:37:28):
one, still in the hunt.Okay, they the committee, I'll give
you my one. The Committee loves, They're going to love a chance for
what they think is the best teamthis late in the season, the best
team in the country. If theyget beat by the hottest team in the
country, which is who maybe Alabamaat least close right, if they get

(01:37:49):
beat by them, you know what, they love an opportunity to get a
three peet. The Committee love tosee it for there, they would the
overall college foot and so would telland so would television just for that alone.
Undefeated, no brainer, one lossstill in the mix. Okay,
Ohio State, one loss done done. If they don't run the table and

(01:38:10):
win the Big Ten Championship and putthemselves in one loss, they're out,
unless all of a sudden, Washington, Oregon Tech. They these guys get
hammered there. I don't think there'sany way a one loss team in the
Big Ten will do with Ohio State. Ohio State loses their out, Michigan,
run the table, Ohios and therethey're beg Listen, even if you

(01:38:31):
said, well what if Michigan,Well, if they lose to Ohio State,
they're not getting in. They'll beend up playing with Iowa in the
Big Ten championship game. Is there'llbe some that even if it's close,
if you if you get to theBig Ten championship game, because I don't
see how Iowa's beating either one ofthose teams. I don't see how they're
going to score enough points, eventhough their defense is really good. For

(01:38:54):
me, the loser of that gameis out Michigan, Ohio State, and
the way it's going There's a lotof people that probably think that are gonna
the Committee is going to have ahard time wanting to put Michigan in because
of, you know, with what'sgoing on. But you can't keep them
out if you're not gonna punish themother than Harbass suspension. The winner of

(01:39:14):
the Big Ten has to be undefeatedto get in. One loss. Team's
not getting in this year. FloridaState got to win, gotta stay undefeated.
They lose once, the committee willbecause the ACC is not as tough
as the Pac twelve or the Bigten or the SEC. They are Florida
State as good as they've played allyear. One loss there, you can
forget it. They're eliminated. Allright. Now, Let's get to the
teams that are outside the top four. Washington run the table. They're in

(01:39:40):
one loss, they're going home now. They lose a game, and that
I got to look, but isI think there's still a way that they
can lose there the way they playWashington State the last weekend of the season.
If they lose to Washington State andstill be in the Pack twelvechampionship,
So I believe there's still a wayto do that and if they do,

(01:40:04):
who do they play this week?Oregon State? That's right? And then
they play Washington State the following week? Is that correct? In their Apple
Cup? I believe that's it.Right point is Washington. My gut tells
me this a one loss non Ifthey do lose and still get in,
you're gonna have a hard time puthim in. But the big a PAC

(01:40:28):
twelve champion one loss team Oregon orWashington. But Washington in this case gets
in if Washington runs the table andwhen's the rest of their games? They're
obviously undefeated in Big ten? Imean Pac ten champion, Packed twelve champions.
Should I say I played in thePac ten, then Washington's an automatic?
I think a one loss automatic.I think a one. I do

(01:40:48):
believe that a Washington, with theirschedule and the way the Pac twelve's been
this year, I believe that Washingtonand I know we'll get to Oregon a
second that a one loss conference championin that conference is going to the to
the final four. Oh you do, one lost conference champ the conference champan
right? If Oregon runs the tableand Washington gets beat by let's say they

(01:41:11):
get beat and there if they wereplaying in the Pac twelve Championship. And
because remember it's no longer the Northand South, it is first two.
It's then Oregon with one loss, and their loss would have been to Washington,
and they'd play Washington again when Washingtonwas undefeated. Oregon's going yeah,
and they've got the leading candidate forthe Heisman Trophy. Saulsbury Salisbury, Houston.

(01:41:36):
Okay, ahead, let's do this. Shawn Salisbury out there, you
see John alongside friend Jeln Salisbury,Ryan La Lima Lobo. Stop to the
Shanka chop top. This is theShawn Salisbury Show, A two here in

(01:41:58):

that they can lose the way theyplayed Washington State the last weekend of the

(01:46:09):
season. If they lose to WashingtonState and still be in the Pac twelve
Championship. So I believe there's stilla way to do that. And if
they do, who do they playthis week? Oregon State? That's right,
and then they play Washington State thefollowing week? Is that correct?
In their Apple Cup? I believethat's it right. The point is Washington.

(01:46:30):
My gut tells me this a oneloss non If they do lose and
still get in, you're gonna havea hard time put him in. But
the big A PAC twelve champion oneloss team Oregon or Washington. But Washington
in this case gets in it ifWashington runs the table and when's the rest
of their games? They're obviously undefeatedin Big ten I mean Pac ten champion,

(01:46:53):
Packed twelve champion. Should I sayI played in the Pac ten then
Washington's an automatic. I think oneloss automatic. I think a one.
I do believe that Washington, withtheir schedule and the way the PAC twelve
has been this year, I believethat Washington and I know we'll get to
Oregon a second, that a oneloss conference champion in that conference is going

(01:47:15):
to the to the final four.Oh, you do, one loss conference
champion, a conference champion, rightIf Oregon runs the table and Washington gets
beat by let's say they get beatand there if they were playing in the
PAC twelve Championship, and because rememberit's no longer the North and South,
it is first two, it's thenOregon with one loss, and their loss
would have been to Washington, andthey'd play Washington, and given to Washington

(01:47:38):
was undefeated, Oregon's going yeah, and they've got the leading candidate for the
Heisman Trophy on their squad right now. And then Oregon, sitting at six
nine to one, gotta win outand that means get to the PAC twelve
Championship, take care of their business, and go win, and you're gonna
have a hard time denying them becauseyou will have probably played Washington, which
is the which at that point intime will be more than likely in a

(01:48:00):
position to be a top Well, they will be in the top four because
Ohio State or Michigan lose, they'regoing to be out next week. Wow,
Texas, I think of the teamsyou've mentioned so far, if the
if Florida State stays undefeated, Alabamabeat Georgia, we'll get in Alabama out.
We'll get to them in a second. For Texas. I know how

(01:48:23):
big that Alabama win was, andit's huge. I think obviously Texas has
to run the rest of the tableand win the Big Twelve championship, and
I think they got to get somehelp and hope that the committee sees them
as the dominant team that they've been. Honestly, for them to get in,
Alabama has to get beat by Alabamahas to lose another game, right,

(01:48:43):
That eliminates Alabama, which put Georgiain the winner of the Big Tens
going between Ohio State. Listen, what if Iowa Here here's the thing.
What if Iowa was able to pullthis off? Dude, and Iowa won
the Big Ten championship, So thatwould knock out Ohio State and Michigan,
and you know what, you haveto send them, which would be a

(01:49:04):
heinous watch, but I can't.You can't dog them right, No,
I don't see how they're gonna doit. We're just assuming. But if
they did so, the Big tenchampion winner is going. Now you're down
to the PAC twelve Big twelve inACC. If Florida State runs a table,
and I don't see why they wouldn't, Florida State's in. Yeah,
they got a really tough game thisweekend Northern Alabama. Florida State more than

(01:49:27):
likely he's in unless somebody Yanks wentout in the ACC Championship game, right,
which could happen, but they gotto go undefeeded. One loss Florida
State team, which would probably comein the ACC Championship, would eliminate them,
and I think that eliminates the ACC. If Florida State's not in the
acc' is done. Put it thisway, if the ACC champion and Texas

(01:49:49):
champion, it came down to thosetwo, Texas gets in ahead of the
ACC champion as long as the ACCchampions not undefeated, meaning Florida State fair
enough. Now where the question comesin is if Washington gets beat by Oregon
and Texas runs the table and youhave Oregon and Washing Oregon and Texas both
one loss teams. Guess what thatmeans? One of those conference champs get

(01:50:14):
left out. Now, what's what'sIowa's record right now? Iowa, they
are let me get to it.Five and two, eight and two overall.
Here's the here's what Texas would loveto answer Max question. And this
is a this is a stone coldfact. If Iowa was able to pull
off the Big Ten championship, FloridaState goes undefeated and wins it SEC Georgia

(01:50:40):
or let's say Georgia beats Alabama inthe SEC title game, george is in
right now. If Washington runs thetable there in. But let's just say
Washington gets beat by Oregon. Oregon'sone lost Texas is one loss. They
go and win the Big twelve, and the Big Ten winner is Iowa.
They beat Michigan thirteen to ten inthe Big Ten championship. That's the one

(01:51:03):
that gets left home. A twoloss conference champion of the Power five win.
Every other team either zero losses orone loss. Iowa can't go.
They make you throw up in yourmouth with their offense. So then it
would go winner of the Pac ten, Pac twelve, winner of the Big
twelve, winner of the SEC,winner of the ACC. Listen Texas's best

(01:51:29):
run the table and beg friggin' begfor two things, Washington to get beat
by Oregon and for Iowa to winthe Big Ten championship. I'm not saying
there's not other ways, but that'sif you want the clearest path. Even
though it's not clear because Iowa,I don't see how it beats Ohio State
or Mission, but if they do, now that is a two loss Big

(01:51:50):
Ten champion that does not deserve tobe in the national title hunt. With
the final four, that's how theyget in. No two loss team this
year, even if you're a conferencechampion, deserves to be in if everybody
else is undefeated one loss. Yeah, that's just why I look at it.
It's gonna be tough. Sleedting, dude, because if it comes down
to the PAC twelve, the Pactwelve, if Florida State goes and Georgia

(01:52:16):
goes, and Washington runs the tableand wins, now it comes down to
Big twelve and Big Ten. Andthen if the Big ten's undefeated, well
there's your answer. They're going. And now the other thing is if Alabama
beat Georgia. What happens to Georgiathat in this whole thing, and is
the committee still favor a second SECteam even though they're a non conference champion

(01:52:41):
and they're one losshit they were rankednumber one and got beat by the hottest
team in the country. If itis Alabama, and now somebody's gonna get
left out the great the clear scenarios. You hope that they're begging for Iowa
to win. You are begging forIowa to beat and win the Big Ten
championship and two losses. I'm notputting Iowa in with four other conferences that
are better and better teams. Georgiatakes on Tennessee this weekend. Ohio State

(01:53:02):
takes on Minnesota, Michigan at Maryland, Florida State at North Alabama, Washington
at Oregon State, Oregon at ArizonaState, Texas at Iowa State, and
Alabama taking on one of the toughestteams in the country Chattanooga. A joke
of a schedule for for Florida Stateand Alabama. You hate hate the in

(01:53:25):
bs should be allowed to do thislate and seeon Chattanooga. Chattanooga and Alabama
should not be playing in November joke. Man, it's an absolute joke.
Yeah. I could tell you though, be careful if you're a team like
Washington, mess around with Oregon Stateand go around there and lay the ball
on the because you know what, what if it's raining sideways and you get
one of those type of games youcan never tell somebody gets hit on a

(01:53:45):
special teams play all these teams. You better guard against thinking. Because we're
already talking about who's in the final, you still got a couple of games
to play that it's going to betough on some of them to win.
But Iowa would be the one conferencechampion if they able to pull it off
in the Big Ten championship game, they would have to get left out.

waking up. What does that? What did you just do? I was
reaching for my water. Yeah, yeah, I do that quite often.
What is that? What is thatyou're drinking? Uh? It's what is
that? It's a tall boy? What is that? Though? Looks like

(01:56:44):
it looks like a tall Biller lightcan? A tall boy. No,
we don't drink Miller light. No, we drink dose Texies. No,
we actually do drink spintle tap.So what do you need? This is?
This is mountain water, natural artesianwater, spin tap? What doesn't?
That's water? There's is there?That's water that's not. There's gotta
be caffeine in that damn thing. There's not. This is called liquid death.
Well what does that mean? It'sthe brand of water that's liquid Death.

(01:57:08):
So do you die if you drinktoo much of it? No?
No, you murder your thirst?Yeah? Yeah, nice little tall boy.
You know what I mean? It'sa recyclable can of stone cold mountain
water claw clawed its way from deepinside the earth to murder your thirst.
Hell, hell of a slogan. Is that what we're calling that? A

(01:57:30):
little wordy on that one? Yep? Yeah, all right, let's get
to the phone lines seven one three, two, one two five seven.
I need to start with Brandon.Brandon, good morning, good morning.
How how you guys, good man? What's on your mind this morning?
I can I say if when theAstros start spring training, it's gonna be

(01:57:54):
in late February. Yeah, pictures, pictures will and catchers will report mid
February or so, and in acouple of weeks after that, the entire
organization will roll down there and therest of the players will report. So
you got a couple months to wait, my man, and then you're Asters
will be teeing it up with JoeSpot and a new new flavor and a

(01:58:15):
new approach, probably the same approachbut different energy and a new energy in
spring training. So that'll be inprobably mid February. Brandon, thanks for
the call, man, Appreciate youalways. February thirteenth, pitchers and catchers
report. There you go. Thatis right around the corner. Let's get
out to the Woodlands. There wego the woods, Baby Bobby, what's

(01:58:39):
up? What's going on? FellowsWoodlands in the house. Bob knows ball.
Baby Bob knows ball. Ay Bobknows ball, knows ball, and
he also knows how to win MVP. So we got a quarterback here in
Houston that has snuck his way intothe MVP conversation, and obviously that's based
on his play, but kind oflike the Heighs race in college. A

(01:59:00):
lot of the reasons CJ's getting hyperight now, no one's really grabbed that
MVP by the reins and put theirname on it. So obviously Mahomes is
in the conversation, Lamar Hunts inthe conversation, Jalen Hurts is in the
conversation. Let's workshop an MVP winfor CJ Stroud. So first things first,
the thing's working in his favor.MVP not a statistical award, It

(01:59:24):
is a narrative award, right,So writers love narratives, they love stories.
To be the first MVP rookie sinceJim Brown, so that's working in
his favor. Second thing, likeI just said, no one's really taken
it and grabbed it by the horn. So how can we get CJ and
MVP. You've got to win outfirst things first, you gotta win out
and you gotta win the division. We need Bengals to handle the Ravens tonight,

(01:59:46):
put some more paths on them.We need the Chiefs to beat the
Eagles on Sunday and a close onewhere neither quarterback shows out. Maybe a
Chiefs defensive stop on fourth down, maybe a little push push stop on fourth
down in the fourth quarter. Needthe Eagles to maybe drop another one to
San Francisco. Maybe the Chiefs haveanother like Broncos esque stinker. Maybe Antonio

(02:00:08):
Pierce the Raiders get them wild up. You're twenty twenty three MVP. CJ.
Stroud? What do we think?Thank you, Bob. I mean
that's a lot of that's a lotof ifs. Man. I like your
style, and I don't think hesnuck up on it. I think he
came roaring through with the way he'sperformed. But I get what you're saying.
First off, I can tell youthis, and I don't mean this
negative. I just mean it realistically. They ain't winning out. They're not

(02:00:30):
gonna win every game here on end. That would take them to thirteen wins
and they would be the clear cuthome field advanced throughout the playoffs. Is
it possible? Yeah, probable. No, they're not winning out, but
that doesn't mean c J. Stroudcan't play great and off the charts.
And yes, the writers do lovenarratives, but it is a statistic driven

(02:00:53):
award as well. This one isone throws for five thousand, another one
throws for thirty six hundred, oneof throws for five thousand, and if
both make the playoffs, that guy'swinning it. But I think I think
he's onto something understanding that you know, we can keep pushing it out there.
But the play of c. J. Stroud is you know, he
said, the play of c.J. Strout is what's going to carry

(02:01:14):
this. But you have to winnow. If they don't win out,
I just say, get in,you get in the playoffs. And if
he continues to play like this, you can't. It's not You're not going
to need any favors from somebody else. It's going to just come down to
how did did Mahomes go off thelast eight weeks? Did Lamar Jackson go
off the lace last eight weeks?Or Joe Burrow. There's about five or
six Jalen Hurts. Those guys arein it. But if he goes off

(02:01:36):
and matches them statistically and they getin the playoffs, it's you can't not
give it to him. But thatnarrative, you're right, rookie haven't had
one since Jim Brown. Never hada rookie quarterback win the MVP. What'll
help c J. Stroud's causes keepwinning. And the only way they're going
to keep winning is if he playswell, so they will go hand in
hand. I don't see him winningeight and you know eight more would mean

(02:02:00):
what nine in a row? Itwould be ten in a row because they
won the last two weeks right comefrom behind and then last week against Cincinnati.
So I don't see it happening. But if you get close and push
ten wins and he plays like this, he doesn't. He doesn't. He's
not gonna have to beg for helpfrom anybody. He'll be right there with
a chance to win it. Yeah, let's keep talking CJ. Stroud and
this MVP race. Next right hereon Sports Talk seven ninety and let's talk

Joe Burrow playing better as of late, could be in the hunt for the
MVP. C J. Stroud hasmade headlines all weak Long Sean, and

(02:06:18):
he continues to get national attention, which we haven't seen in a while.
Yeah, well here you haven't,you know, and he deserves it though
it's not this isn't you haven't hadto manufacture this. Nobody has. And
you know, we say, well, the Texans are disrespect Nobody covers them.

(02:06:42):
They always send the sixth the teamto cover them. Not anymore.
And you know why, because youwin when you have a a premier player
at an elite position that is dominatingthe league throwing the football and you're winning
and beating good teams, not justteams you're supposed to beat. It's a
really good thing. Yeah. Andhe's playing his ass off, so the

(02:07:04):
attentions well deserved and it appears thathe's handling the success like you have to
to sustain greatness and he's really playinggreat football. Yeah. And going into
the game against the Cardinals, youknow they have Kyler Murray back. This
this game seems like a game thatthey should handle pretty easily, I would

(02:07:25):
think, But I know, Iknow, it's the NFL. The Cardinals
are two and eight, they're ownedfive on the road. Texans are let's
see, favored by five and ahalf sixty seven point six percent to win.
Oh, I don't listen. KylerMurray's back. You know, you
never know what he's going to showup, and he may have a little

(02:07:46):
incidentive coming back to his home state. He's an Allen High School guy.
So I'm sure I have some peopleat the house, you know, here
inn RG watching him play and maybeyou know he's a dynamic talent. The
question is which guy is he goingto show up? And where's his head
at and all that. I mean, he gives them a better chance to
win than than Clayton Tunewood right now. Yeah, so, but I I

(02:08:11):
the Texans are just a better team. It's this would be it to me
another inexcusable. You can't lose thisgame. This is game and now they're
all pros and you got to beatArizona. You have to. Yeah,
you can't. This is a gameyou have to win like that. There's
no way to say this. Theylose this game, in my opinion,
they're gonna be in a it's gonnathey're gonna have to that'll take you to

(02:08:31):
five and five, which you're stillin position when you say, well,
there's no way they can make theplayoffs. Seven games go. Yeah,
if they win five to seven, they're still going to playoffs. It just
makes it optics wise, it makesyou cringe a little bit and think they
got beat by Carolina and Arizona.I just don't see it happen. I
think this I don't think this teamhas those type of sustained lapses they went

(02:08:52):
through one against Carolina. I thinkthis team overcomes quicker and I kind of
like it. And you're not gonnasee to not playing three bad games in
a row. I mean, he'splayed two really good games in a row,
and he'll when I say two reallygood games statistically turning it over.
He wants to eliminate those, butthe numbers are still off the charts,
and he's given your team in anunbelievable chance to win. This team's more

(02:09:13):
than just CJ. Stroud, though, flying around better on defense that run
game. If that run game rearsits head like that, not only will
they beat Arizona, they will makethe playoffs because the quarterbacks is going to
continue to play well and that willjust make him better, which also uses
up more time, which also keepsopposing offenses that can be threatening off the
field, and which makes them chase. The Texans have done enough time chasing.

(02:09:35):
And then since I in the lastdecade, it's time for them to
be chased, and they've got someweapons now that are doing it. And
quite frankly, of all the playoffteams right now that are sitting in a
playoff position, very few national peoplewould have put the Texans have exceeded expectations
already, not just not going towin lost con they have to date,

(02:09:56):
but they want more than five winsthroughout the season. But in the way
people view this franchise now and thenthis team and how you prepare for them
or how you watch them, thisis a whole different look. And of
all the playoff of the fourteen teamsthat would make the playoffs right now,
I would bet you that the Texanswere the lowest rated of all fourteen heading

(02:10:18):
into the season. Oh there's nodoubt. There's no doubt coming in,
you know. I read that statisticearlier. Coming into the season, they
had a fifteen percent chance of makingthe playoffs. Now it's up over fifty
eight percent. All of these ratingstowards the Texans were low, low,
low, and lower. Everybody talkedabout how bad this roster was, even
adding in some good rookies. Thewide receivers were not let's see not number

(02:10:43):
one receivers. How were they goingto play? Is see justtro going to
be able to throw to anybody? And even at one point they were making
memes that had this wide receiving corpslisted as trash cans, Like, how
ceedstro going to throw some trash cans? Now, with the way that they
played, the narratives completely switched allTank Dell, what a rookie he's been,
Nico Collins is elevated, Noah Brown'scoming out of nowhere, Dalton Schultz
getting back into what he did whenhe was with Dallas. It's just crazy

(02:11:07):
how all this flips just because theTexans are winning five games or five and
four, All that talk, allthe noise, just negative talk after negative
talk, and now people I lovelike. The thing that makes me laugh
is how every time you talk aboutc J. Stroud outside of the MVP
talk Rookie of the Year, somehowit always leads back to him and Bryce

(02:11:30):
Junk. They always compare him inBryce Young and I always will because the
same draft class, right, Andthey always say, oh, c J.
Stroud walked into a better situation?Did he though? Did he walk
into a better situation? Or ishe just elevating his players a little bit
better than Bryce Young. I don'tthink that's obviously. I don't think that's
one hundred percent fair to Bryce Young. But when you compare those two situations,
they were pretty much. I wouldsay the Texas were a little bit

(02:11:54):
better, but not by much.Coming into the season. Agreed, there
was agreed. They have. Allthe respect they're getting doesn't come from this
isn't fleeting, This comes from Thiscomes from phenomenal performance a lot. They're
they're they're earning every step of this, and I think that the coach has
put that accountability on them. AndI don't think they're playing for National Prognosticator

(02:12:18):
respect. They're playing for winning andtaking care of that respect in their own
building. Yeah, yeah, noquestion about it. Uh. Dan Campbell
and the Lions trying to get toa playoffs. Well, let's look at

(02:14:03):
scammy here to day. That's forme, of course, is like John
Waste the grand at the ball Listento Sean South Gray Show on Course Stark
seven and John Brian and Triple herewith you. Oh but through that headset

(02:14:24):
on kind of you got something, you got something talking about. We were
talking about man, we're talking aboutthis man, Look are about to jump
to the screen. No, no, no, we're not. Uh a
J swanging bangstrows. I was talkingabout Texas Alabama, and Texas beat Alabama

(02:14:45):
in Alabama on the road. Iget all that. There's a lot of
things that come into it. Nobody'ssaying Texas isn't making it. But I
can tell you this, if Alabamaruns the table in Beach, Georgia in
the national title I mean in these championship game, I don't care what
Oregan or Texas do with one loss, it doesn't matter. Alabama. The

(02:15:09):
Nick Saban factor and the fact thatat the end of the season, which
bodes a lot more for the finalfour than the beginning. You damn right,
you got to take in head tohead of Texas beating Alabama. That
ought to be. If the committeedoesn't then they're on crack. But make
no mistake about it, it's notbetween Georgia and Oregon, or Georgia and
somebody, or Alabama and Oregon,or if Washington gets beat and then gets

(02:15:33):
back into the pack TOWLD Championship losesone game. If Alabama runs this table
and beats Georgia in the SEC titlegame, I guarant ask to you it
won't matter what the rest does theyare in that they're in. You might
want to argue more about Georgia gettingin with one loss if they lose a
close game to Alabama in the SECtitle. Now, I don't know what

(02:15:54):
that means for Texas or a oneloss Oregon if they beat If they get
to the and they win the PACtwelve Championship, if Washington goes undefeated,
we know they're in. If FloridaState goes undefeated, we know they're in.
If Michigan Ohio State go unefeed,we know they're in. Let's say
that happens. If Washington beats Washington, beats win's the PAC twelve Championship,

(02:16:15):
goes undefeated, correct, they're in. Automatically, Yes, Florida State wins
the ACC and they go undefeated, they're in. Automatically, Yes, Michigan
or Ohio State win and win theBig Ten Championship, go undefeated. Whoever
loses that game is out. Whoeverwins it will be undefeated and win's the
Big Ten chip they're in and thenit comes out of the SEC Championship and

(02:16:35):
Texas will not make it. Justso you understand this, if Georgia loses
to Alabama and Alabama goes and wins, this thing runs the table and what's
that make them eleven in one andwin's the SEC Championship game. I hate
to say it, and listen itgrinds on because Sarks my guy, I

(02:16:56):
love him. Now. You hearhim on here talking about listening to Sean
Wing. He I'd love it.If that's I'm to tell you the last
thing Texas wants, even though theybeat Alabama earlier in the season. I'm
just telling you Alabama the SEC champion. Georgia or Alabama are going to the
final four. Period. You betterhope if you're Texas, Florida State comes

(02:17:20):
up with a loss, Oregon beatsOregon's able to win that with one loss,
then then you can have that argumentabout Texas and Oregon have it all
you want. If Washington, FloridaState, and the Big Ten champion are
undefeated. Now, if Georgia goesundefeated and beats Alabama, all of them
takes well the Big twelve ound argument, that's exactly right. But if if
Alabama with one loss and that andthey beat Georgia and win the SEC Championship

(02:17:45):
game, there is no way inhell. If Washington, Florida State,
and let's say Michigan or House oneof those undefeated, there's no way Alabama
gets left out. Sorry to tellyou, Alabama and the SEC champion,
whether it's Alabama or Georgia, willbe playing in the national title game,
come hell or high water, dependingon now. If Alabama gets beat between

(02:18:07):
to Auburn or loses in the SECtitle game, we'll guess what they're out.
But a one loss Alabama team thatruns the table from here on out
in beach Georgia in the SEC Championshipgame. And if Washington, Florida State
and Michigan and or Ohio State areundefeated, the Big twelve champion, if
it's Texas and they have one losseven though they beat Alabama, they will

(02:18:28):
not be in the playoff. Thatis a fact. I just don't see
a world where they leave out aone loss. They're not a champion.
They're not I know what I'm saying. Now Here would be if let's say
Texas would have never lost the game, and the all five Power five conferences
are undefeated, who gets left outand we're not going to face it?

(02:18:52):
Who gets left out this season? This season, I'm sorry, probably going
to have to be the big twelvepack twelve. You could almost make an
argument that the ac C, I'msorry, Florida State, if they can
be acc but they're playing such good, consistent you have to look at I
completely. I will put Texas andplayed infield. I would put an undefeated

(02:19:15):
Texas team who beat Alabama in overan undefeated an undefeated Florida State team completely.
I forgot about the age if theyIf they were all undefeated, Florida
State stays home and they can finishfifth and Texas is in. If Washington
the winner of the Big Ten andthe and the ACC champs are all undefeated
and Alabama beach Georgia in the SECtitle, Alabama will jump Texas and will

(02:19:37):
be in the national championship run.In the playoffs, in that scenario,
and it's a very real scenario ifthey can handle out the way they're playing
in that scenario. Out of thePower five conference, Big ten has a
better conference than the ACC, obviously, the SEC, the Big twelve,
and the PAC twelve. If youlook at the ACC right now, they
have three ranked teams Florida State,Louisville, and North Carolina. You look

(02:19:58):
down, you can make a caseto Big ten. They've only got three
ranked teams. No, they gotfour, I'm sorry, Michigan at three,
Ohio State at two, Penn Stateat twelve, Iowa at sixteen.
The Big twelve's got Texas, OklahomaState, Oklahoma, Kansas State, and
Kansas all ranked. And then thePac twelve. We know how good they've
been. What we know what theSEC. Listen, the PAC twelve championship

(02:20:20):
winner is. I believe it's goingyes, but if it's undefeated, it's
a no brainer. I hate Listen, it didn't me. I'm not telling
you what Pack twelve winner, NoBig ten, I said Pac twelve winner.
If they're undefeated, Washington, Okay, sorry, yeah, just understand.
It's not the goal I'm pining forfor that to happen. I'm just
telling I'd love Texas to go Hell, you kid, meet Texas right here

(02:20:43):
and then it would be awesome.Oh yeah, it's stadium. I'm just
telling you, Washington's in. Ifthey're undefeated, Florida State's not going to
be undefeated and fall out of thetop four. If they stay undefeated and
they're an undefeated conference championship, achampion is going to the final four if
you're a Power five school. Georgiawins, it's an no brainer. So

(02:21:03):
if they all four go undefeated, then the Big Ten champion, then then
Texas is gonna miss out. Sothey don't want that to happen. But
if it's three undefeateds and Georgia getsbeat by Alabama and Alabama's got one loss
even though Texas beat Bama, anotherreason why we need more than four teams
in it because Texas deserves to beit, because Texas can beat all four
of those teams that would be infront of them. If Alabama runs the

(02:21:26):
table, beat Georgia, Alabama, nick Saban, they are going the SEC
champions, not getting lessed out unlessthey had two losses, and that's not
happening. So there you go.It's it's it is that that's the way
Texas gets left out is if Alabamabeach Georgia and the other three are undefeated,

(02:21:46):
unfortunately, Texas is going to missout on a playoff. Not I'm
just telling you that's gonna that's realisticright there. They're not going to leave
out a one loss SEC champion ifit's Alabama, especially when you're if you're
Alaba late in the season, it'slike the Heisman. You showed that Heisman
moment late. You bet you beatGeorgia late in the season, and now
they've overtaken Ohio State is the numberone team in the country. There's no

(02:22:09):
way Alabama's missing out on this.Could you even they beat Georgia. Could
you even make a case that thecommittee could look at two SEC teams in
the College Football Playoff rather than bringingin a Texas team Or is that a
little bit too much? Say itagain with uh. If Georgia loses to
Alabama in the SEC championship, couldthe committee make a case to try to

(02:22:31):
bring in two SEC teams to theCollege Football they could before bringing in a
one lost Texas But here's what Ibut for me, no, because then
the big tall champion. But here'sfrom my vantage point. You're the Big
twelve champion, one loss, you'reGeorgia as good as you are. You
don't get a light, you don'tget a Hall pass. Yeah I would.
Georgia would miss out because also rememberif you're talking about who they played,
they got a bunch of teams inthe top twenty. But also Texas

(02:22:54):
beat Alabama, and Alabama beat Georgia, that would be the best scenario for
somebody else, so they could getin. You can't put in my You
shouldn't put if Georgia gets beat byAlabama. You should not put a one
loss Georgia team in over a oneloss conference champion Texas with one loss and
they beat Alabama and they're building andput it on them. Yeah, but

(02:23:16):
if all three teams going to feedit in, Alabama beats Georgia, yeah,
Texas will not make the playoffs.Let's keep talking college football. Texas

ninety, Sean Salisbury, Brian Lalima, Emmanuel Elmore with you this morning talking
college football, talking little Texans, little Astros. Draymond Green got suspended for
five games. Garrett Coleen Blake Snell, your Cy Young Award winners. That's

(02:25:48):
on Thursday night football. Got someaudio, tripley, I'm gonna send you
some audio. Joe Klatt on hisand play the whole thing. He's in
the Houston Fox's number one team incollege I'd like to hear it. You
know. It's a couple of minutes, and he and he talks about he
talks about Texas and this college footballplayoff and kind of how he sees things

(02:26:09):
fit. And so while Tripley's processingthat audio, let's get out to the
phone lines. Let's go out touh. Let's go to Seabrock our guy,
Bill, Bill, welcome in man, how you doing. Good morning,
gentlemen to Sean. To follow up, you were saying about the Texas
Flores Day Georgia Alabama. If andthey'll never do this, they never do

(02:26:31):
this, but if Texas were toplay either Georgia or Alabama Saturday, who
would win? If Texas were toplay Alabama or Georgia Saturday, both Alabama
and Georgia would be the favorite.Okay, That's what I thought. The
way they're playing right now, I'mnot saying who. I don't know who'd

(02:26:52):
win? Are you saying? Intheir home to the spread Georgia spread would
be it would be probably a touchdownbetter than Texas. I don't know how
these guys do this, would wouldthey how much would that Texas win over
Alabama? Way oh, it wouldweigh it would wait, I'll tell you
what. I'll tell you when itwould weigh bigger if it would have happened

(02:27:13):
two weeks ago, it's still big. They hammered him two weeks ago because
we are we are recency biased societyand committee. It's like the Heisman.
You don't remember what bow Knicks didin week two right now? Do you
remember? But I can damn welltell you what people did to what he's
done last two weeks. Sure whenit comes over. Yeah, and it

(02:27:33):
is the we are and the committe. I'm just telling it. I mean,
listen, I love Texas to getin. But I'm but if all
three of those teams Big ten,PAC twelve and ACC are undefeated and Alabama
beach Georgia, Texas is not going. Alabama's going to jump them and be
in the final four. The SECone loss or undefeated champion is going to
the national have a chance to winthe national title. Now, in that

(02:27:56):
scenario, if Texas was playing FloridaState, I would think it a push.
I like Texas. I think Texasis better than Florida State. I
think Texas can beat all the teamsin front of him. But I would
think that gamblers, let's say,on a neutral site, with the way
it's going today, the way they'replaying, Georgia would be a favorite.
Georgia will be a favorite over Alabamain the SEC title game, and Georgia
would be a touchdown favorite six anda half seven points at a neutral site

(02:28:20):
over Texas right now, Alabama wouldthey take into it. I still think
the way they're playing field goal three, three and a half points right now,
even though I think Texas can beatAlabama again, but Nick Saban playing
him twice a year is tough.I think that Vegas would make Alabama the
favorite over recency bias. Not sayingit's right, but I think that would

(02:28:41):
happen. I get you because I'veseen I've seen them both the last few
weeks. Yea, Alabama looks somuch better now than they did two months
ago. I'm not right. Listen. As good as Washington's played at,
Oregon's playing great football, Texas hashad a great season just in the last
two to three weeks. The wayMilrose elevated his game at Alabama, I

(02:29:03):
think they're as dangerous as anybody now. I'm telling you. As six weeks,
eight weeks ago, I would havesaid I would have favored Georgia by
two touchdowns over Alabama right now.I'm just that is that that game is
going to be nasty if this continues, because they are playing their best football
right now and Nick sabans what heis. You can tell he's coaching pissed

(02:29:24):
because he ain't been in the nationaltitle game in a minute and this bothers
him. Like I said, Texasmay get hosed in a crazy situation,
but make no mistake about it.One conference, you don't even have to
think twice about If Georgia or Alabama, whoever wins the rest of these games
and wins the SEC championship, theyare going to the final four. Georgia
obviously, Alabama one loss with hisSEC title, they are in the final

(02:29:46):
four. And it's not it's noteven a question. Good show, Brothers.
Thanks appreciated, Bill Triple you gotwe We got that audio up and
ready to go with Joel Klatten. This is a couple of minutes long.
Yeah, it's about two minutes.Okay, well let's you want to hear
this. Okay, Okay, that'sgood. Yeah, just Joe Klatt talking
about what Texas needs to make happento try to get in is in a

(02:30:09):
bind, a real bind. Whenyou start looking at these closely, you
start realizing that Texas is being boxedout, probably three different ways, and
it's gonna be really tough for themto overcome this. Texas needs help.
Okay, Texas needs help. AndI know that you already knew that,
Longhorn fans, because there is apath where there's four undefeated Power five champions

(02:30:33):
and you would be left out inthat sense. And so you're like,
Okay, well, I get thatwe're gonna need some help. You would
need some help because Florida State lookslike they can remain undefeated. You've got
to at least imagine that Ohio Stateor Michigan will be undefeated. So that's
two spots. Then you're looking atGeorgia could remain undefeated and Washington could remain
undefeated. So that's the first way, and that's the most obvious, right

(02:30:54):
And in that case, it's like, Okay, you tip your cap.
If you're Texas, you had agreat year and you move on. You
wish it was the twelve team playoff, but it's not. So that's the
first way that they could be boxedout. Here's the next way that they
could be boxed out. Florida Statewins. You've got the big ten winner,
Ohio State or Michigan they went out, they're thirteen and er. And
Georgia wins out. They're thirteen andoh. Then Oregon beats Washington just straight

(02:31:20):
up and they're they're twelve and onein a champ And the committee has shown
now week over week that they thinkOregon is better than Texas. So that's
number two. A Houston ad twoHouston, an Ihard radio station has run

Triple you got we We got thataudio up and ready to go with Joel

(02:36:50):
Klatt. This is a couple ofminutes long. Yeah, it's about two
minutes. Okay, well let's youwant to hear this. Okay, Okay,
that's good. Yeah, just JoelClatt talking about what Texas needs to
make happen and to try to getin is in a bind, a real
bind. When you start looking atthese closely, you start realizing that Texas

(02:37:11):
is being boxed out probably three differentways, and it's going to be really
tough for them to overcome this.Texas needs help. Okay, Texas needs
help. And I know that youalready knew that, Longhorn fans, because
there is a path where there's fourundefeated Power five champions and you would be
left out in that sense. Andso you're like, Okay, well,
I get that we're going to needsome help. You would need some help

(02:37:33):
because Florida State looks like they canremain undefeated. You've got to at least
imagine that Ohio State or Michigan willbe undefeated. So that's two spots.
Then you're looking at Georgia could remainundefeated, and Washington could remain undefeated.
So that's the first way, andthat's the most obvious, right And in
that case, it's like, Okay, you tip your cap. If you're
Texas, you had a great yearand you move on. You wish it

(02:37:54):
was the twelve team playoff, butit's not. So that's the first way
that they could be boxed out. Here's the next way that they could be
boxed out. Florida State wins, you've got the big ten winner, Ohio
State or Michigan. They went out, they're thirteen and ozer and Georgia wins
out, they're thirteen and oh.Then Oregon beats Washington just straight up and

(02:38:15):
they're twelve and one in a champAnd the committee has shown now week over
week that they think Oregon is betterthan Texas. So that's number two.
So now, all of a sudden, like I just don't believe Texas is
going to win an argument over Oregon. In particular, if Oregon is able
to avenge their lone loss of theseason against Washington in a PAC twelve championship

(02:38:39):
game, I don't think that they'regoing to win that argument based on what
the committee has given us. Butthen now there's a third way as well,
and that third way you can hearit. You can hear the drum
beat. You hear it every Saturday. You see it on social media.
You heard it last night in therankings release. You hear this drum beat
for a twelve and one Alabama thatit's like, well, it's different,

(02:39:03):
and they're so much better now,and hey if they beat number one Georgia
and they in that wind streak, and so now you're sitting there, Florida
State remains undefeated, the Big Tenshamp remains undefeated, Oregon goes twelve and
one, or Washington goes undefeated, and Bama beats Georgia. Guess what.
Guess what, there are gonna bea lot of voices, not mine,

(02:39:24):
but a lot of voices spewing thepropaganda that Bama deserves to be in the
playoff over Texas, which is patentlyabsurd. That listen, you remember all

(02:39:45):
this talk that we've been talking aboutis committee based, right, not you?
And I no, it's committy based. Yeah, I got listen.
Do I think Texas can beat Alabamaagain? Your damn rights? I do?
And he is one hundred percent right, just like I said, it's
third to think that automatic in yourthoughts, that Alabama, from our standpoint,

(02:40:07):
should automatically get in. I'm justtelling you when I say unequivocally,
it's not my opinion. I'm justtelling you what the committe Committee is shown.
And he's exactly right about Oregon.Oregon wins the PAC twelve championship,
the way that they've played in thisthis recency bias of how hot they're.
The polls are telling you this. The people who do the way that the
committee's already voting, Organ's more likelygetting in. Washington's no brainer. Ify're

(02:40:31):
undefeated, the a SEC champ undefeated, it's a no brainer. The Big
ten champ undefeated is a no brainer. It's Georgia. I mean, Georgia
undefeated. We know Alabama because ofrecency, there's going to be a lot
into it. I'm just telling youwhat the Committee's gonna do. I'm just
telling you we may not, likeI mean, we can cry to the
high heavens and sing as loud aswe want pissed. Like Klatt said,

(02:40:54):
right, he knows damn well, just like you know, just like I
know, and just like the matterof fact, the third, but he
said, and here's the third waythey could get boxed out. I actually
think the third one is even morerelevant than the first one about Oregon being
on winning the PAC twelve championship overTexas. I think the Alabama thing and

(02:41:16):
the feeling of the committee is wecan't leave an SEC champion with one losser
out and it's Alabama and it's NickSaban. You're gonna get that. Imagine
Try will it be easier for thecommittee to explain Alabama going and Texas not?
If that scenario rears its head, like it or not. That's the
human element that comes into play withthis football committee. They're gonna make a

(02:41:39):
bias at Alabama over Georgia as thenumber one team was more impressive then Texas
waltz it into Alabama's building in Tuscaloosand kicking their ass. What you and
I want stuckle matter? Yeah, try to sell you tell me right now,
think just on the national scope.Sell to the committee Texas twelve and
one, they beat Alabama with anAlabama you know how they'll do the say,

(02:42:01):
oh yeah, Texta won beat beatAlabama. But Alabama was going through
three quarterbacks. They hadn't found theirguy. Yet here's the excuses you're gonna
hear. But they did find theirguy. Now look mill Rose playing,
they went in and they beat Georgiain the SEC Championship and they kicked their
ass. Recency. Now, differentstory. If Texas would have beat Alabama

(02:42:22):
last week, and the scenario we'retalking about still rises, if Alabama may
get left out. Right, ifTexas is playing in Alabama this weekend and
beats over Alabama, playing Chattanooga andbeat them in Tuscaloos and the Alcabama,
they're gonna wins the SEC Championship.Texas is going, Texas is going that's
exactly right, I agree. Orthey're gonna put Alabama in and they're gonna

(02:42:43):
let them jump Oregon. That's whatthey do. I think when it comes
to the fact that it's a playoffcommittee, right of people, we're not
with the computer system anymore, andthere's only four teams that are going to
get in. The recency bias andthat excuse of all Texas only beat Alabama
and what week two, week three, whatever it was, and they were

(02:43:07):
shuffling the quarterback. That's what Ibelieve. I'm with you on that page.
I believe that those people in thatcommittee are going to bring that up.
You can look at strength the schedule, you can talk about big signature
wins and things like that, butat the end of the day, I
just find it hard to believe thatthe committee is going to leave out an
SEC champion if it's Alabama with oneloss, and they're also going to say,

(02:43:31):
look what Alabama did once they tookthat beating. Yeah, they came
back and played and they hammered everybody, and look what they've done. I'm
just telling you, like it ornot, it's week two right early September.
Yeah, I don't look at it. Hey, a win's a win
no matter when you have it.And it was a big one and Texas

(02:43:52):
knows it too. But I mean, you look at me. We'll get
to break. I want to keeptalking this college football stuff. Just with
these top six, seven, eightteams. Man, there's a lot of
things that could happen, a lotof things that could change this college football
playoff, especially in its championship gameright down here in Houston. Yeah,
I mean, it's just like Isaid, it's not This isn't a knock
on. No, I'm with Clattand I are thinking exactly the same way.

(02:44:16):
I want to look at strength andcommittee. Yeah, I want to
look at strength schedule. Let's discussthen next on the Sean Salisbury Show,

Sean Salisbury continues on seven ninety one. This was for you, but

(02:46:24):
I guess things changed. It's funnyhas someone else's success brings pain? We
did no longer get involved that personhas it out. Welcome back to the
Shawn Salisbury Show here on Sports Talkseven and Hey, there's some up breaking
news out of the uh out ofMLB. MLB owners unanimously voted to allow
the Oakland A's to move to LasVegas. Pay Me the Way, for

(02:46:46):
the second relocation of a baseball teamin the last half century. Unanimous vote.
The Oakland, A's officially headed towardsLas Vegas. Keep on talking to
college football seven one, three, two two five seven. Let's get out
the jay in spring. Jay,what's going on? Hey, how y'all
doing? Fellas? Uh? Justabout this college football talk? I watch
a lot of ut over the years, and I could tell you this year

(02:47:09):
they have nobody to blame but themselves. Man Like, it's no excuse for
them. They've been up big againstU of H, against Rice and it
comes down and ends up being aclose game and they eke it out.
So to me, if they goby strict to schedule, they gonna look
at that. And so I haveno call with Alabama being raked over there

(02:47:31):
or Washington or you know whoever,because that's that's on them. That's that's
that's that bad. They had theteam to do it to blow out be
saying if Georgia, when Georgia playsVanderbilt, where Alabama plays Vanna Building in
these lesson school they beat the hellout of them, Well, Washington places
Freshno State and these other programs that'sbeen deep, they beat the hell out
of them. So to me,it's on them that's that bad. They

(02:47:54):
get skipped over and I ain't gonnalisten, thank you, Jay. What's
more? I mean, is itmore impressive that Alabama beat Georgia or that
Texas beat Alabama at the stage ofthe season they're at first off after all,
this scenario. Mike Mike my buddyon Twitter, he says he loves
the conversation this morning. He goeswith his face, facts, ain't nobody

(02:48:15):
beating Georgia. And he may beright. It may be a moot point
because you're gonna have to play yourvery, very best football to get through
that. I mean they and theyjust keep you. I mean ole miss
Waltz in there is the eighth rankedteam and they beat him senseless. They
oh my gosh, so now they'rebeat a bull. But like when when

(02:48:39):
you first saw Georgia at the beginningof the year, we said it on
here, it's doesn't look the samewith Georgia and understandably so you lose a
guy who won the MVP at quarterback, you're starting to he's a getting his
first college start in Carson Beck. You lose all those in the last two
years, all those defensive draft picksin the first round. Say, how
do you keep over co in this. Well, here we are. You

(02:49:03):
know, Mconkie's been hurt. Imean they Bowers has been hurt, and
they still beaten their curb stomp andeverybody. So the truth is it may
be a moot point. And ifyou want to argue Oregon in Texas,
if it's twelve, if if theyif they win the PAC twelve, have
at the argument. Yeah, hey, you have at it. And I'm
all in for the argument. Idon't care if I'm a PAC twelve guy

(02:49:26):
or not. If you can showme the case that the committee we're talking
committee now now what we'd vote committee? Yeah, just telling you how they
think. And so was Joel Klatt. So if if you can't understand that,
then you're dumb as a pile ofrocks. That's just who the committee
is. So you got to askat the time. At the time,
you tell me what would be moreimpressive. I don't I don't know the

(02:49:46):
end. I mean, I haveto moull this over. But I'm just
I'm asking for Texas's second week winover Alabama and it was impressive and they're
building by what two touchdowns? Yep, I believe or Georgia would get beat
on a neutral site by Alabama thislate in the season, when George is
the number one team in the country, which one's going to hold more water
to It'll be it'll be the lategame or a late season because it's the

(02:50:09):
lates. It's late in the season, right, it was Week two,
and it sucks because Texas would deserveto be in it. But as Jay
said, they let a few teamshang around that shouldn't have hung around,
and that will take over. Andyou know what, it would have been
easy because at the time that youknow, Oklahoma played out of their mind.
That's a game you have to wintoo, right, Yea, But

(02:50:30):
hey, listen, one lost teams. Oregon got beat in the game.
I mean that that happens, hell, and then Oregon beats the dogun breaks
off Utah too and manhandled ub right, So one of the more physical teams
in this country. There's no morethan four teams are going to deserve a
shot at this, but it couldvery be. Listen, we could have
four undefeated teams and Texas will haveno argument. I mean, think about
how we're talking about it right now. In this college football playoff ranking system,

(02:50:52):
there are eight teams that have argumentsto get into that final four.
Eight not far where we see sometimeswe're talking Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan,
Florida State, Washington, Oregon,Texas, Alabama, All eight of
those teams, if things go theirway, could have an argument to get
into the top four. This expansioncan't come soon enough because what they're expanding

(02:51:16):
to, what twelve or sixteen, whatever it's going to be. That's that's
twelve twelve, right, that can'tcome soon enough. Yeah, I would
think so. I just it's gonnasuck because now, listen, you want
to end this thing pretty easily.Let Florida State go get upset by somebody

(02:51:37):
the now Texas is like, ain'tno way you're taking an ACC team.
It's one loss over US conference champion. Not doing that. So it just
it sets up, and you've gotto understand, don't kid yourself, there's
a Nick Saban factor in all this. Yeah, winning doubt. When push
comes to shove, you're gonna leanon it. They're gonna lean on late

(02:52:00):
season, They're gonna lean on NickSaban. They're gonna lean on an SEC
champion because the perception is the SECis always the best conference. I don't
think it's the best conference this year. But you have an argument, right,
the argument that's all you need withthis college football playoffs? Right?
All right? Texas A and Mcontacting an NFL team? Who was it?
That's next on the Shawn Salis RayShow, is Kyle Tucker catch every

left here on The Sean Salisbury Showon a Thursday morning in h Town,
Thursday Night football Bengals and Ravens.Draymond greens haspent in five games for his
role in a scuffle in the NBA. Garrett Kole Blake's Now, when the
cy Young Awards in Major League Baseballcontinue to talk about this college football,

(02:53:46):
we all said, Uh, I'mnot gonna can't You can't pronounce what the
twitter swing bro swinging bang yeah is. At one point he said, well,
that's why the Committee hasn't put Alabamaahead of Texas yet. Of course,
it's why they haven't. They beathim a head to head, both
have one loss. That's not thepoint of this conversation. Point of the

(02:54:07):
conversation looking at it from the committeestandpoint and what they have proven to us
over the years, if any ofus have paid attention, is if you
beat Georgia, they're not going tobe ahead of them in the rankings Alabama,
whether we like it or not.So yeah, Texas should be ahead

(02:54:28):
of Alabama right now. If Alabamabeats number one Georgia in the SEC title
game, you better just strap iton and realize they're going to the final
four playoff. It'll be easier forthem, whether we like it or not,
easier for them to explain why theytook Alabama over Texas and why they
took act Texas over Alabama. Ifthey beat Georgia. I'm just telling you

(02:54:52):
now, if it's a six tothree thriller, maybe they'll reconsider. I
just don't know how one loss orundefeated SEC team in the committe mind,
they favor the SEC. How they'regonna miss out now two losses, it's
done. Georgia loses, and thenlet's say Georgia, Georgia somehow would have
lost the game and or they getbeat by Alabama. They're not taking two

(02:55:13):
season. Georgia's one loss. Ifeverything goes the same, they're out.
You can't do that this year.As good as Georgie is. The whole
key is, you're gonna have tobring a lot. You're gonna have to
bring about fifteen bodies. It wantsto beat Georgia. But Alabama's playing phenomenal
football right now. So listen,if all go undefeated, it won't matter.
If Alabama beats Georgia. Alabama's in. Yeah, we're going. However

(02:55:37):
else, you want to slice theOregon game, if they beat Washington,
if Oregon, if you want theargument with Oregon and Texas, it ain't
gonna be the argument with Oregon,Texas and Alabama. The argument shifts to
Oregon and Texas. I'm talking aboutfrom the committee's point of view, and
you and I both know that.Ye Committee, sure, No, I'm
not telling you listen, I'm tellingyou I believe Texas can still beat Alabama

(02:56:01):
on a neutral field, but itwould be a lot more difficult now.
I can tell you now. Theway they're playing now, Texas is not
waltzing into Alabama Tuscaloose at this stageof the season and beating them by two
touchdowns. Now, they may beatthem, they're not going to curb stomp
them like they did the first time. They can still beat them, but

(02:56:22):
the Committee ain't saying, well, they can still beat them, because guess
what, they ain't playing them again. The winner of the SEC from here
on out is going to the final. Georgia. It's obvious Alabama. It
may not be obvious to some ofus, but to the committee, it's
going to be obvious. They're inTexas. A and M reached out to
the Lions to see if they couldhire Dan Campbell as their next head coach.

(02:56:46):
Campbell played his college football Texas Aand M, and they tried to
make a play to get Dan Campbell. That'd be a great get that he's
what Dan's not going to do.He's not going to A and M leave
Detroit to go recruit. Why whywould they go to a man that is
coaching an NFL team that is sevenand two. Well, I'll tell you
why. The alma mater stuff runsdeep, buddy. Oh yeah, well,

(02:57:11):
especially get it you're usually I amfar more committed to my Trojans than
I was to than I am tothe Minnesota Vikings. And I'm talking about
the emotional commitment that there's something aboutthe emotional commitment to your alma mater,
especially if it's a powerhouse, thatis hard to let go. Andy Reid,

(02:57:33):
b why you got see BYU doesn'tlook at it when they when they
hire a coach, it's not justa hire coach, it's a calling because
church related, right. And AndyReid when the end of Philadelphia, you
know, they did offer him theywanted him to be the by you head
coach, and he did consider itfor a minute because of the higher he's
LDS. Right, and Andy consideredit because of the church part of it.

(02:57:58):
The why wouldn't you at least listen? Right, I mean that's and
why you spent a lot of timethere the Lavelle Edwards. Andy, Andy
knows all about the BYU stuff, right, So it was hard that for
me, let's say the Raiders andthe USC Trojans both came to me and
offered me a job as a headcoach. I'm just using my two favorites.

(02:58:22):
It'd be hard for me to sayno to the Trojans quicker than it
would be the Raiders. Yet,if I was the Raiders head coach and
we were winning, I may notleave because I'm close enough to loving the
Raiders as much as I did growedup they had emotion. Then I'd probably
pass because you know what, someguys don't want to go out on the
road and tell some eighteen every eighteenyear old kid, you're the best player
I've ever seen. I love you. I love you, and recruit the
parents, recruit the kid and nowwith name, image and likeness and transfer

(02:58:46):
portal. Once I have you,I'm there to teach you, coach you,
be a father figure, be anexample, be a leader. I
shouldn't have to keep recruiting you.Now give you opportunity to compete, But
I am not going to kiss yourasses third year sophomore to get you to
stay at my program. If justbecause you want to go get more money
or you haven't started, somebody elsebeat you out. I unfortunately I'm not

(02:59:09):
in that. That's not how Ithink so, I would understand. If
you're Dan Campbell, you just getto go to your work and do your
thing. You don't have to goout and recruit unless it's free agency.
Right with there, you're out recruitingtelling on Friday night. I'm gonna tell
you the college jobs a lot moredemanding and harder than the NFL job.
It just is because you go towork and those guys go home. Make

(02:59:31):
sure the kid's academically eligible. Oh, the parents are mad. Oh,
this kid's not starting, so he'sgonna leave. Oh, this kid came
into a meeting, and I mean, it's just it's it's crazy. Oh
he wants to transfer because we're notpaying him three million. We're only paying
him one point two million. Uh, Dan Campbell. While I'm sure he'd
be flattered, I what he's buildingthere. You can't leave now. If

(02:59:52):
he was on the verge of twoyears ago, if he thought he's getting
fired, but they gave him nextyear, he may consider. Yeah.
And if he does flor with lockwith with texting him, you know what
the Detroit lines are gonna do,which a lot of guys do do.
Let's give him an extension and increasespaid it nine million a year or whatever
it is. Right, So whileit's a it's nice, I can't imagine
Dan Campbell will do it. Butthe Alma motern part of it. That

(03:00:16):
Listen, if Florida State offered DionSanders a job, hard for him to
turn it down. They're not gonnaget it because Mike Norvell is doing a
great job there. So I mean, it's really hard to turn down unless,
of course you're on Let's say youwent to Slippery Rock, which I'm
I don't mean that disrespectful, andall of a sudden Alabama offers you the
head coaching job. Well, yeah, there's a big difference in the salary
there. Right, you're gonna takethem one to give you a chance to

(03:00:37):
win a national title? Well,I mean every now and again you get
beat in the battle by twenty. But if it's so raw, state,
throw out all the records, youtake that gig. What do you think
they're paying their head coach? What'swhat's up budget? You think? Over
there? Over there? Yeah, over there in the pine. I'm not
at liberty to discuss that, man, you're not. I mean, if

(03:00:58):
you guys, guys on the borderregions. Look, man, hey talking?
Is it? Is it a twohundred and fifty thousand dollars job?
Is it a five hundred thousand dollarsjob? One seventy five to twenty five?
Where are we at? Quarter ofa mill? Maybe? Ballpark?
Yeah? Bet a quarter of amill? Allegedly yeah, legedly yeah,
quarter of a mill? Maybe solRoss pulls man the pine. Dude,

(03:01:22):
when you roll into the pine, you better come you know what? You
better? What do they say?You better? Uh? No? You
roll? No? Come direct? What's what's uh? You come correct?
Yeah? You better come correct? There you go. When you roll up
into the pine, you better comecorrect. I'm just telling you. Look,
I've lived it, man, youknow what it's like to come correct.
I've lived. If you decide toroll up into the pine right now,

(03:01:45):
it's soul Ross state and you don'tcome correct, you might as well
might you might as well just getthe step. I'm just saying you might
end up in tearior Lingua. Yeah. Yeah, there's only two guys that
could take that shot. Not alot of people go down to go unless
you're wanted the chili cook off.Other than that, probably you're probably avoiding
the trip, you've come correct,or you're heading where you're going? Toling

(03:02:07):
d damn right? You are youever seen shooter? You know what happens?
And damn rights? I do?Did end up? How do you
know about all this? Yeah?I got the shovel to prove it.
Yeah. Yeah, you don't wantto head there? Right? No you
don't. Hey, guess, dude, guess who got hurt in an NBA
game last night? Let me guess. Or it's got to be williamsitteror Davis

(03:02:30):
Zion or a d that's I'm justgonna go one of those two. I
don't know, triple who do youthink it is? Yeah, I'm going
eighty. I don't know. Idon't know. Pretty uh tough ludding.
It could be. I can tellyou af you guys, it isn't.
It's probably not gonna be like DameLillard. I mean they're going to compete.

(03:02:50):
It's it's one of those two.I guess. Oh, no,
James, his commitment to fitness isunparalleled. Let's talk about that. Next.

of my favorite rappers. I justlike I think Lil Wayne's I like him
too, do you Yeah? Ilike a big sports fan too, big

(03:05:43):
time, but he's not like Drake. He just doesn't go to find every
uh every good sports team in Curson. It'll be tough on Drake to travel
to games, uh because he needslike four four uh like Louis Vauton luggages
to carry all the jerseys in forwho's gonna win on the road trip?
Yeah? Eight fly on seven fiftysevens? Yeah yeah yeah, And it's
his own, right, that's hisown. Yeah. Yeah, I like

(03:06:07):
the private Hey you want to goon my sixteen seater? No, I
got one of those jumbo ones thatfour hundred people can ride on, but
there's only eight of us on it. Nice to have, it's nice to
have papers. We like me.That's what they do, man, I
don't hate them. Hey, you'relaid plenty of it. Your Lakers lost
last night again. Didn't Bronny gotriple double on him? Bron Bron Bron
triple Bronni Bronni's his son Bron Bronthough triple dubb Didn't he lebrono triple double

(03:06:31):
on him? Was that in factcheck? Okay, I'm not sure if
I can confirm nor deny, butI'm thinking Lebron with triple double on Let's
see, I know the bone hashad one for sure. They lost one
twenty five one ten? Pull itover? Was it Bron Lebron with triple
double? Or am I tripping Lebron? James indeed had a triple double?

(03:06:52):
Twenty eight points, ten rebounds, twelve assists. There you go, that's
still legendary. Anthony Davis his age, It's stupid good, is what it
is. Anthony Anthony Davis nine pointsmm hmm, hammy terrible last night.
He said his injury is not toblame. I said it's about a week.

(03:07:16):
We'll be talking about somebody else.Tightness in his left hip flared up
in the first half Wednesday night.Pop in that locker room, Grab yourself
a shot. Let's go who isbuilt better? Anthony Davis, Zion Williamson

(03:07:37):
or Lance mccullors. Junr. Whywhy would you do that? It's fair,
though, isn't it? No?Because two of them played basketball,
But Lance always gets hurt, justlike Zion, just like Anthony Davis.
Could we pick somebody out? Canwe keep it out of who else?
Said Trout? Yeah? Fair?Okay, fair, Yeah, that is

(03:07:58):
fair, keep it out. Who'swho's No, you gotta always keep it
local. I keep it local, but keep the injury. But we don't
want that here anymore. It's fair, though, blows ass. It's fair,
all right? Who's better? It'sfair? Who's built better? Zion
Williamson, No, Anthony Davis,Mike Trout. All three get hurt every

(03:08:22):
single year. Well, I'm gonnago with Trout because he's won like multiple
m v ps. How's that sohe's built better. He's built better because
he's played at least long enough towin m v P. Say, does
that make sense? That's fair? That's fair as well. Who's built better
Zion? Say this, I meanthe lesser A two evil. Yes,

(03:08:46):
yes, I'm gonna give a dcredit because he's played longer. Okay,
yeah, I think that's I thinkthat's fair as well. I feel like
Anthony Davis is even mentally tougher.I'm talking about on the court, I
do. I feel like there's alittle more mental toughness in Zion right now.
Zion's got a lot to prove.I mean, talent doesn't have to
prove anything. He don't have toprove crap to me anyway, My opinion
is he's still got to g atleast Anthony Davis has grinded out season after

(03:09:09):
season, even if he hasn't playedfull seasons. Zion's way too young for
us to be calling him injury riddledhis whole career. Yeah, how long
has Zion been in the U?This is year what three? Three?
You think it's three? Actually thisis year four? I four? Yea,
And that COVID year screwed everything?Yeah, the VID, I'm sure

(03:09:30):
glad we don't have to deal withthe VID. Well it's still out there.
VID. Screw the VID. Yeah, Hey, did you uh did
you take Travis Kelsey's advice and goget you a flu vaccine, in a
COVID vaccine or no. I thinkthe last I think the last one I
had was that tet this shot thatleft the big old thing back in the
day when I was growing up.You put it in the side of your

(03:09:50):
arm and you're like eight or sevenwhatever, going to school. No,
I've never. I've never. Iwouldn't even know what a flu vaccine looks
like. Same, sure as hell, don't know what the VID one looks
like. The same. I couldn'ttell you. The only thing I was
intrigued with with the band aid theyshow on the arm when they show it
right now, I don't. Ihaven't. I wouldn't know, dude.

(03:10:11):
That's that's for somebody a little morequalified to talk about those things that actually
went and did it. I'm notinterested. I love I love how we're
about halfway through the NFL season andnow we're starting to talk about hot seat
with different coaches. Obviously, BillBelichick is a popular name that he could
leave. Here's a report that cameout. Bill Belichick is the favorite to

(03:10:33):
go to the Chargers if he leavesthe Patriots and the Chargers believe to decide
to move on from Brandon Staley,And I said to the Washington what commanders,
Yes, yeah, yeah, WellI think they'll be a line,
don't you. It's the equivalent ofNick Saban leaving Alabama and if he still
wanted a coach. Yah dani Orlofskisaid this yesterday on the Pat McAfee show,

(03:10:54):
that he's heard that Bill Belichick willtake over and this is even better.
He could take over as a headcoach or front office a GM.
Yeah. I think that's very real. Wherever he goes, he's gonna want
the power to at least make decisions. And because he's Bill Belichick, some
general manager or general manager be he'sgonna miss out because Belichick is gonna have

(03:11:16):
the power of the building. Whereverhe goes, he will have the biggest
He'll be the biggest voice in thebuilding when it comes to personnel and all
those things that go on. Orhe won't take the job, right,
But yes, he could go eitherone or do both. But if it's
the stale, I don't see howyou're winning a title with Mac Jones right
now. I think I don't thinkthat city's Mac doesn't feel like Boston grabbed

(03:11:37):
him, you know, meaning ina good way, grasp like this is
our guy. I almost feel likethey feel like he's an outsider and he's
playing like it. At times he'sa he can still play. He probably
needs a change himself. But Ican see Bill looking and saying, all
right, who gives? Okay, where do you usually start? Money?

(03:11:58):
The guy, the people, you'rethe owner you're working for, buy in
right. The owner believes in youand loves you the length of the contract.
But when it comes to what else, aren't you going with the best?
Where you think the jobs available withthe best quarterback? Yeah? Okay,
so the job it's not gonna beavailable in Kansas City. You ain't
getting Cincinnati's job. I mean,we can go through a handful of dudes.

(03:12:18):
But I'll tell you what. Thebest available job where a quarterback.
I mean, where there's a reallygood quarterback and the job may be available
is the Chargers, because Herbert's areally good player, and Belichick and the
right coordinator may make him. Whatwill end up happening, Bill will go
there, He'll take Josh McDaniels.Bill will go to the Chargers. They'll

(03:12:39):
start winning, and Josh will havewill lead the league in offense with that
quarterback at some point in time, and then somebody three years now and Rode
will say, oh, he's provenhe can be a head coach again,
will say, oh, not again, just stay as a coordinator. Do
so. Yeah, if you're Belichick, you're saying, who gives me the
best chance to win when it comesto that position? And you're going to
say, well, is it hereor here? And that obviously would be

(03:13:00):
the best quarterback available position when itcomes to guys that have tremendous potential that
would be available at the end ofthis year. Probably Yep. It's gonna
be crazy to see if if thePatriots can turn it around for the same
turn it around. They're not goodenough. Their offense sucks, they're not
turned around. I don't know ifBill's leaving. Bill may stick it out,
he make it a long term dealer, move up to the front office

(03:13:22):
and choose his own head coach. But I can tell you this that that
team will do just what you andI are doing in January watching TV the
playoffs on TV. They ain't gotanywhere, They're awful. That's gonna do
it for the Shawn Salisbury Show.He is Sean Salisbury. You're great.
Thank you appreciate so are you?Yeah, thank you. I appreciate that.
Thank you, I appreciate you.Just be a vibe, that's just
the story. Just be a vibe. Yeah, today that's the theme of
