Speaker 1 (00:02):
Sulsbury Salisbury. Hot, Okay, let's do this. Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
To usc true, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
Dan Matthews, this is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
Robert Beldiz allows a first pitch single, then strikes out
the next three and after one Astros two a is
nothing to one, and that's hit through the drawn and
infield and then a left for a base hit. Du
Bomb scores al two. They goes to third Esac Paradis
and RBI and the Astros lead is four to nothing.
Bright Henders Scott McGuff and Christian Walker lines his first
pitch deep to left field and that ball is off
(00:46):
to the top of the wall and over for a
home run for Walker. Christian Walker with his twenty fourth
home run of the season, and the Astros lead is
eleven to one. Walker with his third RBI of the
afternoon rich second.
Speaker 4 (01:02):
Astros lead eleven to five.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Two two Swaying in a mesh, struck it out on
a slider and that is the ballgame. The Houston Astros
pour it on early and in their five game lucic streak,
defeating the A's eleven to five in Sacramento. The Astros
now a half game behind Detroit by the final wildcard
spot in the American League.
Speaker 5 (01:26):
A blessing, a blessing from the Lord God be praised,
Little Monty Python the Holy Grail for you, and away
we go here in good morning on the Sewn Salisbury Show,
Sports Socks seven to ninety, Robert Ford giving you the
details of how yesterday in West Sacramento went. Now it
is can you do it? Can you handle your business?
(01:48):
And can somebody either dominate the series in Boston or
can the Boston Red Sox win two out of three
and you win three? And if you do that, well,
then postseason baseball awaits you. So Sean Salisbury back in
the fold. Great to have you back, buddy, while you
(02:09):
were away. Yeah, and one thing about it is real
quick and it's great to be back. And it's nice
to come in on a Friday knowing that there's a weekend.
Speaker 4 (02:16):
Yeah, I need to do it your way.
Speaker 6 (02:18):
There you go, brother, and we got to ride a
cup about to start. It's going to be awesome. Epic
weekend is when people say they control their own destiny.
They don't control their own destiny, folks, They don't control
of your own deatine means which you do controls everything.
They don't control their own destiny. That Red Sox and
Detroit teams have something to say about that. Now they
(02:38):
control their own opportunity when they got dealing with what
the Angels for three in the final three of the season.
Speaker 5 (02:45):
But they do not control their own destiny in this
That's what always cracks me up. That saying is right
up there with fully guaranteed. It's on the list.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
It's on the side of the refrigerator. Controlling your own.
Speaker 5 (02:55):
Destiny by virtue itself. You can't do that because destiny
is determined for you.
Speaker 6 (03:02):
Yeah, the very meaning of it. Okay, And also fully
guaranteed we all say it. Yeah, isn't that redundant?
Speaker 4 (03:09):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (03:10):
I mean doesn't guarantee means, Hey, the contract's guarantee guarantee.
Speaker 4 (03:14):
If I wanted an eighty.
Speaker 6 (03:15):
Percent guaranteed, I would say, the contract's eighty percent guarantee.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
Some of it's guaranteed.
Speaker 7 (03:19):
Right.
Speaker 6 (03:19):
When I say guaranteed, that means it's all guaranteed in compass, right,
unless you state something else. That's it. It's the same
thing here. You don't control your own I mean, I
understand we've used that termin forever. But when you're also
in just if that, if that was the exact meaning
control of your odesty the way people use it in sports,
that's still not right here because there's another series. You
(03:43):
have to have help now. You no longer get to
control your You have to have help now to get
into this thing. So it's a I can't wait to
see it. I'll tell you what, and we can be
as kind as we want. They're even getting in. I'm
sure there's a lot of people that are questioning, if questioning,
if you know how good they'll be in the postseason
(04:05):
to get in.
Speaker 4 (04:05):
You got to get into the tournament to go.
Speaker 6 (04:07):
Well, we'll going find out how far they go and
if they can overcome a short series all that. But
I can tell you this, it was I know, all
injuries aside. But if we're going to say we never
make excuses, they are in the middle of an epic meltdown, dude.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
Now last night.
Speaker 6 (04:22):
Now, the problem in this town is offense, at least
in two sports, and both the Texans and the Astros.
We saw the Astros struggle with offense for the most
part all year inconsistently, and now the Texans for three
straight games. Is if I'm a defensive player with the
Texans and I know we'll get to that, I'm about
to start open up a cann of Woo pass unless
you guys start pulling your weight.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
Okay, and they haven't. They are.
Speaker 6 (04:42):
If they're close on offense, then I also am the
offensive coordinator in Houston. They're not anywhere near being close
on offense. And I dare say, there's no way they
can't explode this weekend, right, No way, right? So I
would see right. So, but the Astros, obviously, this is
an important series. And listen, go go ahead and lose
(05:02):
one or two and you can forget it. So you've
put yourself in a buying You talk about resilience in
grit and grind, it's right in front of your face.
The problem is you're hoping somebody else doesn't have it.
Speaker 8 (05:12):
Now.
Speaker 5 (05:13):
Well, I mean that's the thing is usually you'll see
teams when they get out of a losing streak.
Speaker 4 (05:17):
That's when they get on a run.
Speaker 5 (05:18):
And I mean look for Detroit for them, you need
Boston to win two out of three here.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
I think maybe even do better than that.
Speaker 5 (05:26):
But you need Detroit to lose that series, and you
sweep for you to get in, or if it's the
other way, like I said, and the Tigers finally realize,
hey we're still that team, you know, Scooble pitching, all
that kind of stuff will be all right, and they
sweep that series. Well, then you handle your business in Boston,
see you.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
Right, which will cut the semi deep. Not with the ash.
Speaker 6 (05:49):
I the way, keeping Detroit out and having Boston and
Houston n would be my ideal thing.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
Yeah, that's gonna be a tough task. It will be
for sure.
Speaker 5 (05:58):
And you know I was starting with while you were
away because me and Gordy were trying to figure out
what the hell happens, like who broke something, who upsets somebody?
Whatever it is to to have Houston sports just completely
over about a five day span, completely fall apart.
Speaker 6 (06:14):
The gut wrenching of Fred van Vliet situation and stuff.
Weare awful, it's awful. I mean, nobody's got it in
for Houston unfortunately just ran into I mean, the two
of them are controllable by those players. The Fred van
Vliet things a bummer. It's just a flat ass bummer, man.
And you know they're still going to compete and you
got to do it. But they put a little depth
in a little point guard issue because now you're going
(06:36):
to realize how important Van Vliet was to this team.
Speaker 8 (06:38):
Right.
Speaker 6 (06:39):
Unfortunately, sometimes it takes I'm not saying this organization doesn't know,
I've done about all of us to understand. He may
not be Steph Curry, but for this organization, with hadd
and KD and the group to it, he was probably
the perfect And the guy knows how to win, he does,
and he's got a ring on his finger. So I
that was just such a bummer because the things you
(07:00):
can't control, and it's like, oh, they're so close in
the verge. Now it says we'll find somebody else is
gonna have to elevate their game. And I know that
sounds cheesy, but it's just a fact. So it's a
it's been a rough go and all the while out
in Seattle they have just do what they have done
since when they started this run has been pretty incredible.
(07:22):
And then we get to get down to the MVP
talk and I don't know how you vote for this man.
Speaker 5 (07:26):
Oh it's easy for me. You think it's cal Raleigh Bingo? Right,
sixty home runs, Yes, That's what I said on another show.
Speaker 6 (07:33):
I do and yeah yesterday when I got in late,
you know did later yesterday. Is I to crouch behind
home plate and do what he's done? Is what been
seven guys hit sixty home runs or something in history
of baseball.
Speaker 4 (07:47):
And as a catcher, then maybe the fatigue factor.
Speaker 6 (07:50):
We know judge and judge his numbers from last year
this year again, dude, he said, you know, he's elevated
his batting average the last two years, cut down on strikeouts.
If Aaron Judge wins it, you can't come. Dude, his
numbers are stupid. But if cal Raley is a premium position,
he's played phenomenal defensive catcher this year, which is no
shock and to do what he's done, and quite frankly,
(08:11):
I don't want to say single handly because you can't
do it single handly a team sport, but I can
tell you this, Without cal Raley, they don't sniff where
they're at right now, even with all that good pitching
and upgrading at the trade deadline. But to me, and
I said, I said, there's that fatigue fact. We know
who judges every year, and there's no way. I mean,
maybe there's a way. But if he hits forty home
runs next year, we'd go, oh my gosh, what a
(08:32):
great year, and everybody else say, well, what a bummer year.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
No, this is like it.
Speaker 6 (08:36):
You just don't do what he's done and then still
be able to crouch and do your thing defensively on
a first place team. So it's a listen. If there
was ever a co MVPs this year, you give it
to him. And then you look at Judge who's at
eighty points higher at the plate than cal Raley, and
he plays the outfield and it's important he's a team captain.
Yet cal Rawley's crouching behind the plate. I don't know
how many games he's had to play. One hundred and
(08:57):
forty some games this year. He's had to because you
need his at in the line up the whole time
and to do what he's done. You know, at some
point in time, I think people thought he's gonna fall off.
Speaker 5 (09:05):
Well, I know that people say that batting average, that
batting average is an antiquated stat, but I mean you
just talked about it hitting about eighty points higher.
Speaker 4 (09:13):
But here's how it breaks down in one hundreds and.
Speaker 6 (09:16):
You still get down, you still get to the you're
you're you're on base more normally right to higher average.
So it does matter, maybe not as much as it
used to, but it still does matter.
Speaker 5 (09:25):
I mean, the difference here is exactly about eight hits
right in between out of one hundred that bats. So
I mean, it's really that much of a difference.
Speaker 4 (09:33):
I just it is.
Speaker 6 (09:34):
I it is if you're talking on the team's scheme,
because if those eight hits, somewhere along the line you
drove in two runs and it caught the Astros. There's
eight hits in runners in scoring position. That is going
to mean the difference in winning making the playoffs or not.
Speaker 4 (09:48):
No, you're one. You get my point.
Speaker 6 (09:50):
If those eight hits, if because both those guys seem
to come up with big hits all the time, Imagine
if five of them, you're a second place team and
it keeps you out of the playoffs. And if five
of those, it's three of them were runs in scoring
position and won you two games, which is very real
when you're talking about guy sitting in the middle line up.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
Talking different about the Astros right now, If that's the case,
you're damn right.
Speaker 6 (10:09):
We are so well agreed on the big picture of
the individual statue like not that big a deal, but
when you apply it to how it applies to your team,
it could be a monster deal of when you got
those singles or doubles that drove in, you know, two
more runs, that got you two more wins. And boy
wouldn't the Astros love that right now? So I'd vote
cal Raleigh, as I said, And you know, in New
(10:30):
York Seattle more people watch Judge than Raleigh. It's just
like when Andrew Luck was playing quarterback, people didn't know
and he could have won the Heisman. You just sometimes
you don't stay up that late, most don't and you
win a Heisman and he you know, you just don't
see him. So people on the East Coast may not
see it as much. But I'd vote cal Raleigh. But
on the other side, I don't think you can complain
either way. The other guy can't say that guy didn't
(10:53):
deserve it, and none of us can. But man crouching
that much in the hitting sixty dude we expected with
the Yankees and Judge, you do, we just do. That's
Aaron Judge every year, right, And maybe that fatigueal helped
cal Raleigh. But you didn't expect that, especially what's been
the most he's hitting the season? Yeah, has he hit
Has he hit thirty five ever in a season?
Speaker 4 (11:14):
I don't think so. I don't either.
Speaker 6 (11:15):
I think he's like more than doubled his highest production
in the season. I think, now I may be way off,
but I don't. I don't know if he's hit over
thirty in a season. I mean, he's still always quite
a home run hitter. Oh yeah, power, But I'm talking
about dude, that dude, you're talking about home run hitter
to go to double it up, that that's a whole
that feels like previous high was last year thirty four. Okay,
there you go one time. So that's it's and and
(11:38):
he's damn dear doubled it up. It's impressive. So I
think it makes for one one hell of a good
banter and debate. But both and you know what I
love about both of them. Neither one of them very
significant in what they're doing in the leadership and everything
they got to do. But neither one of them is
a self promoter. And I know some people would rather.
(12:00):
I love it. They just do their gig. Everybody else
talks about him, and neither one of them spent a
whole lot of talking about saying I or me. I'm
big on both of them. And look what one guy
does to elevate his team. Both are going to the playoffs,
and both ones won the division. The other, who we
come down to, stretches trying. Isn't a two horse race
to win the division in the East with the Yankees
(12:21):
in Toronto. So it's a good watch man.
Speaker 5 (12:23):
It's funny you mentioned the Andrew Luck you know Heisman
time is because it reminds me when Christian McCaffrey was.
I think it was the year that Henry won it.
Derrick Henry and i'd written a story in my digital
media days of why Derick Henry's deserving and then one
guy sent me probably about a foot long length email
(12:44):
about Christian McCaffrey, to which I only responded, brother, I'm
not reading any of that right, Like, it's just like
I get.
Speaker 4 (12:50):
What he did.
Speaker 5 (12:51):
I but like, look at who Christian McCaffrey did all
of this against as opposed to Derrick Henry.
Speaker 6 (12:58):
And if you remember that last part of day Derrick
Henry's season, Nick leaned on him saving I think he
had ninety carries in two games. Yeah, I think he
went like forty five and forty three back to back
before they got into the next level. I mean, you
talk about, hey man, you are you're loaded up, and
we need you to carry the ball almost one hundred
(13:19):
times the last two games to get us where we
want to go. And I'll be damned if Derrick Henry
didn't do it. And they leaned and leaned and leaned
and leaned and leaned on him, and it was phenomenal
that year. So as much I love McCaffrey, was the
most versatile player in America, but they threw a five
(13:39):
hundred pound weight on Derrick Henry and said carry this
load to the tune of about eighty eight or ninety
carries whatever it was at the end of the season.
Speaker 5 (13:46):
And it was for that reason too that people were like, well,
he could be another Trent Richardson, to which people who
knew were like, brother, he's twice the size of Trent Richardson,
and he can run like nobody's business, there's no doubt.
Speaker 6 (13:58):
And well to get to push forward, he's had, I mean,
people greatly overestimated the demise of his career. Did theyvid
Tennessee and look at him now, he just got to
quit laying the ball on the ground. That and Baltimore
is still a major threat. So all those things coming
to play in the Ryder Cup. Bryson Deshambeau, John Ram
hit just so people, the Ryder Cup has started.
Speaker 4 (14:17):
In the Forsoms Rom hit first and.
Speaker 6 (14:19):
Hit it and then hit his yes yes say you
addressed in red, white, blue, the red got the blue.
Travis Matthew cap you and I are devoted and dedicated.
And Bryson de Shambo came up about what ten to
fifteen yards short, hit it right in the fairway, just
fifteen yards short of drive in the green crowd's going crazy.
(14:40):
Advantage whole one with Justin Thomas hitting second, a little
flip wedge in their little pit shot. Advantage USA because
they're hitting from a little deeper rough on shot too,
which will be Terrell Hatton. I begged for this matchup
on another show yesterday, these four because of the fire,
and we got it and I can't wait to see
it now.
Speaker 5 (14:58):
It's gonna be awesome. So the Ryder Cup under got
the Astros tonight. You got the Texans over the weekend
looking for their first win against the Titans. All of that,
but will continue the Astros conversation. You want to get
involved one three, two and two five seven ninety against
seven one three two on two five seven ninety when
it comes to the Astros possibly making the postseason. I
(15:18):
gotta be honest. I think a lot of you've been
looking at it the wrong way. And we'll discuss that
right here. It is a Sean Salisbury show on a
fight Song Friday, Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 9 (15:27):
Now.
Speaker 6 (15:27):
DNM Leasing just delivered a truck to a customer who
had listened to DNM for more than twenty five years.
Think about that, and he'd been hearing these commercials forever,
right for decades, he believed leasing was just renting a car.
I put in air quotes, something you only did if
you couldn't afford to buy. And who hasn't been there,
right guys. But DNM Leasing's here to change that. That
changed when the dealership offered him an eighty four month loan.
(15:49):
He knew he'd trade the truck in in a few years,
and he knew he'd end up well upside down again
owing more than it was worth.
Speaker 7 (15:57):
Well.
Speaker 6 (15:57):
That's when he remembered the DNM commercials. I've ever seen
a Texas title? Uh, and when you trade in a
long finance contract, the only thing you own is negative equity.
Those quotes, so we called DNM leasing showed him is
that leasing isn't about what you can afford. It's simply
the smarter way most people pay for their vehicles. Smarter.
See what smarter does for you, And DNM leasing is smart.
(16:20):
Leasing isn't renting. Let me say it again. Leasing isn't renting.
It's smarter. Who doesn't want smarter? Harder doesn't always work.
Smarter does, and especially when it puts money in your
pocket and makes it easier for you at the beginning,
the middle, and the end. Dial seven one three two
nine zero one thousand seven one three two nine zero
(16:40):
one thousand, or visit us at dn M it's DNM leasing,
dmauto leasing dot Com, dmauto leasing dot Com. They continue
to win awards and there's a reason why DNM it's
dmauto leasing dot com.
Speaker 1 (16:56):
More Sean Salzburg, get in, strap in and right here
(17:41):
d A S T A T E.
Speaker 4 (17:45):
Florida State, Florida State, Florida State.
Speaker 6 (17:48):
Yeah, there you go a little update for you ryder cuppers,
we'll do the along the way. Deshamba hits it to
about ten yards in front of the green. Justin Thomas
came up a little short with his chip. They missed
their birdie. Put on a nice little chip to get
up on two by Terrell Hatton. John Ram missed his
and about fifteen footer looked like to you fifteen seventeen
(18:08):
foot thereabouts right there. And then Deshambo does what he
does in a gladiate arena where he friggin loves this stuff.
He buries it for a birdie, us up one as
they start to they start the ryder cup.
Speaker 5 (18:21):
Love it as we'll be updating you on that all morning.
Also to the Strows. When yesterday in West Sacramento eleven
to five over the A's, so that sets up an
all important weekend series in Anaheim against the Angels, and
it's gonna be Jason Alexander on the mountain tonight. He's
looking to bounce back in a huge way after the
(18:41):
way last Sunday went against the Mariners. But the Stros
badly in need of a sweep and some help from
either or the Red Sox or the Tigers for them
to be able to get in and the Texans gonna
get the Titans on Sunday by the way too. I
mean we're gonna get into the Astros conversation, like I
said in just a second, But I mean for the Texans.
Speaker 4 (19:03):
They lose on Sunday, go ahead.
Speaker 5 (19:06):
Yeah, if they lose on Sunday, brother dirt road in
this town. Because watching that Thursday night game last night,
I'm like, they have to go to Seattle and play
against that defense. And you saw that defensive front getting
after Arizona yesterday. I'm like, how's it gonna look against
this patchwork offensive line.
Speaker 4 (19:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (19:24):
I'm just gonna tell you, man, who would have thought
four weeks into the season that you are in a
must win situation against the team that you are supposed
to uh, that you're supposed to beat. And quite frankly,
we're not sure right now they're prepared for it. Prepared
is probably the wrong word, primed for it, whatever it
might be, Dan that did whatever the word you use
(19:47):
I or phrase you use for this, I'm actually baffled.
And how poorly they've played offensively. It's a horrible watch.
And I'm telling you what that defense now every game
they give you a chance. I'm sitting here begging for
three touchdowns against Tennessee, and I know everybody's all. They're
(20:08):
gonna get right and they're gonna go Okay. So when
the for instance, when the Astros hang that and do
what they did to the A's yesterday, do we all
of a sudden automatically think, well, the Astros have arrived. No,
the answer is, man, where's this been? You're supposed to
beat the A's. They're out of it. But of course
young and dangerous because they free swing and they've taken
care of their business two of the three games that
(20:30):
put the Astros in a major bind. Right, But you
win once you get a little excited. But in truth,
we're just still sitting here saying, who are the Astros bats?
Speaker 7 (20:38):
Right?
Speaker 4 (20:38):
And what gain damage are they gonna do?
Speaker 6 (20:40):
If they get into the postseason facing two front line
pitchers at the top, we'll see and they got a
couple of them themselves. So it's the same with the Texans. Man,
I gotta tell you, brother, I what do they do
well offensively? Namely a thing that they do well offensively?
Right now, throw it underneath? Okay, great? What average five
(21:00):
yards per attempt.
Speaker 4 (21:01):
Yeah, pretty much.
Speaker 6 (21:02):
Okay, So tell me what they do that leaves you saying.
I'm not saying they can't, and I'm not saying they won't,
but I'll tell you tell me out of three weeks
where he tells you they're close offensively see.
Speaker 5 (21:15):
And that's something we're going to talk about too, because
I'm hearing Nick Kyley talk this morning and.
Speaker 6 (21:20):
Nick Cayley's looked overwhelmed for three weeks. And I'm not
saying he's not smart none. It's not personal. Nick Cayley
looks like a guy who's real and looking for around,
looking for somebody to help him get through this. It's
because his play calling right now looks as if he's like, well,
let me just get a quick completion, yar. I don't
like he's trying to find like a rookie player. And
(21:41):
I get it, not that he's not dude, the guy
w's been around football. He knows x's and o's. But
as I've told and I've stressed a million times, play
calling is different than understanding x's and o's, far different.
Speaker 4 (21:52):
It always is.
Speaker 6 (21:54):
You can be the greatest x's and o's guy, get
on the board in the classroom and tell your players,
here's what we're supposed to do. And then when they
hand you the play and you're putting it in to
get into a play sheet, rhythm is a whole different art,
and it is an art.
Speaker 4 (22:07):
There's been a million x's.
Speaker 6 (22:08):
In those guys that just don't that aren't good at
calling plays and they go back to position coach and
their epic for years now.
Speaker 4 (22:15):
You got to find out who they are. And that
doesn't mean he can't be.
Speaker 6 (22:18):
But three games in he looks like a rookie play
caller that's overwhelmed at times. And the problem is, when
you're a rookie play caller, you got to have a
team that is capable of overcoming your flaws or your
mistakes as a rookie play caller. Does that make sense?
And the problem is they don't. They've got a running
game that's reeling. They don't just dominate you. Offensive line
(22:38):
still trying to find its way, although anybody that just
blames the offensive line ain't watching the big play, run
after the catch, explosives, vertical push, CJ. Stroud's ability to
make plays that he's normally made. He is not playing
very well.
Speaker 4 (22:53):
Nico Collins fumbling in the red zone. That's exactly right.
Speaker 6 (22:56):
They're they're doing something all the time that either stalls,
drives or stalls. And well, we've been close. Yeah, you
know what, there's no category that says, see, it's wins
and losses and ties, and there's no other category that says, hey,
you know what, man, they got they got close.
Speaker 8 (23:11):
Man.
Speaker 6 (23:11):
No, they're maybe close in a couple of games, but
their offense is nowhere near When you watch Baltimore, Detroit, Buffalo,
the Rams, when you watch those offenses play, well, Sean
they've been yet well I didn't hire the rookie coordinator Arizona.
When you watch them play, there's a different attack. And
I'm just I mean, where's there's a trust? Do they
(23:34):
not trust CJ to CJ not trust the coordinator? Is
the receiving corps? Do we overrate them? I mean what
is going on? So listen, Defense isn't just close. Defense
has played well enough to win the majority of these games,
and they should be able to get after and hammer
Tennessee's ass.
Speaker 4 (23:52):
Now, who are you going to be?
Speaker 6 (23:54):
And even if they win this game, look at the
schedule for the Texans after they did ain't gonna be easy, brother,
and you and I both know it.
Speaker 4 (24:02):
And we've already proven that.
Speaker 6 (24:03):
Well, apparently Jacksonville and the Colts are pretty good in
this division. And we didn't mean acid Texans from last
week and the Colts finally punted three weeks in. And
Daniel Jones, you're your MVP category. So I just I
don't want to hear close. I want to see execution.
I just do. He's damn right, Driko is about his defense.
Oh but I'm gonna tell you, remember what I told
(24:25):
you about. There's that line of when a defense gets
to the point where like, are you guys gonna pull
your weight? You know what I'm talking about. I know
people tell you that doesn't happen, Oh what happens. I've
seen it. I've been on a team when it needed
to happen because our defense was kicking out.
Speaker 4 (24:39):
We need to pick it up.
Speaker 6 (24:40):
And they've got to match whatever it is that makes
them great, because right now their offense is one of
the worst.
Speaker 4 (24:47):
I watch in the NFL weekly.
Speaker 5 (24:50):
As far as I mean, and I haven't watched all
thirty two, but as far as I can see, it's
the worst.
Speaker 6 (24:55):
And I have and I will tell you this, it's
one of the worst I've seen, if not the worst.
Without their defense, they're the New Orleans Saints. Now, he
might to say louder for you the first time without
their defense, we're talking about them like their offense looks
like hell the Saints offense moves the ball.
Speaker 4 (25:16):
Even better, or the team that you're playing this weekend.
That's exactly right, man.
Speaker 5 (25:20):
And then speaking of being close, you know what your
good buddy Mike Leach said about being close, being close,
we should have won.
Speaker 4 (25:27):
The damn game. That's yeah, close doesn't do any good.
Speaker 6 (25:30):
Close as there's no doubt and and Leech explains it
better than anybody does when he when he God rest
his soul. And we missed the Mike Leach uh that
we got to see every single week. But it gets
to a point where it's like, oh, that's fine and dandy,
but I got to have results when you're close in
the stock whole.
Speaker 7 (25:48):
Man.
Speaker 6 (25:49):
We were close, we almost hit it, but I didn't quite.
I should have got in that last game close exactly man.
I picked four power ball. I had a bunch of numbers,
but don't take your money. That's exactly right. And nobody
remembers that you were close, right, so they just remember
you got your ass handed to you. And that's the
situation there. And this offense right now is a not
just a hard watch, it's a putrid watch.
Speaker 4 (26:11):
All the way around.
Speaker 6 (26:12):
Agree, I don't look at one aspect of their offensive
game and say as a group, that's a dominant group.
And when you get that combined with can't put it
in the end zone, can't close out, well, then you
lose the teams like Tennessee.
Speaker 5 (26:24):
Not where do you want to be? That's for sure.
Seven one three, two one two five, seven ninety. We'll
get back into the Astros conversation about the potential postseason
for the Strows and also keep you up to date
on what's happening at Bethpage Black, part of the Ryder Cup.
All that straight ahead right here Sewn Salisbury Show Sports
Talks seven to ninety. But you know, Shawn I said
all the time with Jbarm because I mean, you know,
(26:47):
some of us hadn't even eaten breakfast yet. And that's fine,
but in a few hours you're gonna need lunch. We'll
be joining you today over there at Jbarm Barbecue for
lunch and I tell you about the specials all the time.
Today fried catfish with some fries, some coalslaw housemad tartar sauce.
There you go fish fry Friday over there at Jbarn Barbecue,
to go along with the elite briskets, the jalapeno cheddar, sausage,
(27:10):
the ribs, all of that.
Speaker 6 (27:11):
Come son, You give me a fish fry Friday. You
give me the end. Hey, you feel that weather when
you got up the Christmas you're gonna start kicking in.
You sit out of that patio for college foe. And
if you don't like college football tomorrow, then don't watch
because you got a monster schedule tomorrow. You get the
great customer service, the cold drink, the drink specials, music, pop,
and bring your dog on a Saturday morning. And then
(27:31):
you're gonna throw me a fish for on Friday. And
then give me that brisket and that chicken and that's
that sausage in those sides, and then you give me
the customer service. I don't have to wait long, and
the price is right and the food's the best barbecue.
And I tried another barbecue place when I was gone,
and it's not even in this State, and I came
back to, boy, are they missing out on what we
got here at Jbarn Barbecue. And you don't need an
event to want to stop in there, and if you
(27:52):
need to pick it up and take it go, but
enjoy the venue while you're there.
Speaker 5 (27:55):
Kind of sweeten the pot because we know Chef Roche,
we know you know our guy back in the in
the pitroom tonight after five o'clock Steak night with Chef Roche.
Speaker 7 (28:05):
Great.
Speaker 6 (28:05):
Yeah, and oh so let's just add another double signing
bonus to your thing. You're gonna pop in there. We'll
throw some steak on there mixed in with everything else.
Pop in there and get it, because I got news
for you. You're gonna absolutely love it. If you haven't
had it, you're missing out on Houston's best barbecue, no
doubt about it.
Speaker 5 (28:21):
Plenty of parking, a huge dining room, as Sean mentioned,
that full service bar, beer garden outside, all of that
to go with the elite and amazing barbecue that they
have there at Jbarm Barbecue. It's jbar M Barbecue twenty
two to one Leland Street right there, and itto J
bar M Barbecue.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
And we're there for the Sean Salisbury Show continued, don't
even really need.
Speaker 4 (28:57):
To explain what today is, but for those who don't know,
fight song Friday around these parts on the Sean Salisbury Show.
Sports Talk seven ninety Stros.
Speaker 5 (29:06):
Eleven five winners yesterday against the A's. So now that
sets up an all important final weekend series against the
Angels in southern California, and waiting to see what happens
between the Tigers and Red Sox this weekend along with
what they do. And you of H tonight over in Corvallis,
(29:27):
Oregon taking on the Beavers of Oregon State and that
coverage is gonna get over on KPRC nine fifty a
little bit later on. So you got that to look
forward to. So, I mean, what a night too. I
mean you're thinking about this. U of H has a
chance to do something they haven't done in literally ten years,
and that start of season four to zero, the Beavers
are they are defeated this season. They do not have
(29:50):
a single win their win lists on the year. So
Willie Fritz and the crew, so I would go ahead
and just tell you this, if you're gonna do the
multi screen set up this weekend, go ahead, just set
it up tonight because tonight you'll have the Coogs and
Beavers and then you'll have the Astros and Angels going
on at the same time.
Speaker 4 (30:08):
Koogs will win that game.
Speaker 6 (30:09):
Hopefully the Astros will take care of those business their business,
and Jason Alexander gets his and then tomorrow you got
from Ryder Cup to college football all the way through.
Speaker 4 (30:16):
Tomorrow's a phenomenal day, morning, afternoon, and nights.
Speaker 5 (30:19):
I mean you started off in the morning, you got
college game day and then you can have the Ryder
Cup going at the same time. Just leave one TV
for the Ryder Cup. No, no, then leave it for
turning around for everything else. I mean, your guys, big
noon kickoff tomorrow, and I know your head coach was
not very happy.
Speaker 6 (30:34):
But yeah, the early thing we got late, with the
latest one last week, get the earliest one this week.
But the truth is, with that schedule and being in
the conference, if you're Lincoln Riley, you're telling you guys,
oh well, we were really good at that in the
NFL and hand with John Robinson because coach Robinson his
philosophy and Danny Green always told you he goes, I
don't care if the bus is late don't care if
the meals cold. Those are things we can't control. And
(30:56):
you know what, matter of fact, just anticipate that's going
to happen and then go deal with it and early
wake up calls, listen. Even though it's different for them,
they got to play too, and nobody, nobody cares about
Oh it's colder, it's hotter, it's indoors, it's outdoors. So
the best way as a coach to Haley, Yeah, it's odd.
You know, it's a bummer for the DA to do it,
but you don't want to even not that's thinking. You
want your team to say, oh cool, they're putting us
in that bund today. Then we're just gonna go take
(31:18):
care of our business. But this is a test. Illinois
got their ass kick last week. They were humiliated physically,
and that's where Brett Beilama thrives. And what's the biggest
question about USC over the last hand, physically physical and
do they play defense? Because I would imagine you're gonna
get a better Brett belam a team in Champagne playing
in this game. So if this is the first Purdue
is a semi test. But when it comes to this
(31:40):
is the first big test when it comes to a
team that's pissed they're at home. You're bringing in a
team that's you know, that's a that is playing really
good offensive football, and it's it's gonna be a good
test on the physicality mark for USC and I'm I'm
actually really anxious to see it. But it goes all
day and your Tiger's got a big one tomorrow, Ma dud,
(32:02):
there's there.
Speaker 4 (32:03):
They're all.
Speaker 6 (32:03):
Then we got the teams along the way that are
either reeling or strugg Oklahoma, how they're going to respond
as this season rolls along without John Butttier, which is
the biggest injury in the country right now so far,
to a team guy at the top of the Heisman
Trophy race, and the way that they're playing defensively, Oklahoma
looking and you know what, boy, I wanted to see
Matier and Eli, I mean need Eli but Arch play
(32:24):
in the in the in the shootout you know, in October,
and Matier won't be ready for that either. So Oklahoma
is going to have to find out just how good
their backup is and if he's prepared from was it Hawkins?
I think who is to have the same game, you know,
to play. You're not going to be Matier, but he's
why Matier, you know, Materears beat him out and he's
the guy. How is he going to be able to
(32:45):
respond now as a back? Has he grown? And it'll
be a test because that the Texans deep, I mean,
the Longhorns defense is no joke.
Speaker 4 (32:52):
That's in a couple of weeks.
Speaker 6 (32:53):
So they'll have a tune up and I think they
have Kent State, so he has a chance to get
it going. I think that's who they play. But then
they go on a brutal schedule. Run is obviously in
the SEC is what happened. So there's a lot of
good stuff to watch, not the least of which is
Sunday to see if the Texans can help us not
to dry even our mouth offensively, and if the Astros
can stop you know last night they did, but stop
(33:15):
reeling and prevent this epic what the hell happened from
keeping them out of the postseason. It's been a long
time since they've not been in the postseason.
Speaker 5 (33:23):
Yeah, we're due for a good weekend around here, so,
like you know, I pray we manifest all the time.
Speaker 4 (33:28):
Let's manifest a good weekend.
Speaker 6 (33:30):
That right, it's gonna be a good weekend regardless, but
a good sports weekend epic.
Speaker 4 (33:34):
Yeah, locally, that'd be nice. So hopefully we'll start it
out tonight. All that.
Speaker 5 (33:37):
There, you go, let's exercise the demons, let's feel good.
Let's you know, enjoy Monday. But in the meantime, enjoy
today and enjoy the weekend.
Speaker 4 (33:44):
Amen. That so what we got?
Speaker 5 (33:46):
So yeah, like we said, the Ryder Cup ongoing right now.
You've got one for the US and one for the
Euros right now in terms of matches. So we'll keep
you up to date on that, but we'll continue the
astros conversation. Seven one three, two, one two five. Seven
to ninety is the number to get in. Now, let's
talk a little postseason astros. If there is going to
be postseason astros, we'll discuss right here. Sean Salisbury Show,
(34:09):
Sports Talk seven ninety. All right, guys, let's discuss doctor
Jeff Witz at in Vision. Okay, he's been nothing but
spectacular for me. I always say when I want to
know it.
Speaker 6 (34:19):
First off, how in the world would somebody who's never
used lasik or never been to the eye doctor for
something important, how in the world would they be able.
Speaker 4 (34:30):
To speak on somebody. Talk to the people who've used it.
Speaker 6 (34:33):
Doctor Witz has been with me every step of the
way for the last seven or eight years. Every step
he's been phenomenal. So talk to and friends I've sent
him same way. Talk to those people, not the one
who Well, I'm thinking about getting it done. But here,
let me tell you about this company. How about talking
about somebody who's been there, done it. I'm seeing better
than I've seen the last thirty years, and if there's
anything that needs adjusted, he's doing it. You have the
(34:54):
best doctor right here. You don't have to travel out
of state to go get the Lasik procedure. Guy that
you want to get it done right eye care doctor.
He's phenomenal. He'll walk you through it, take away your
anxiety stress because there always is when you're talking about
your eyes. But with the greatest equipment, with his great
eye and hands to make sure that you get treated
the way he'd treat his own kid's eyes. Isn't that
a nice, nice bonus we get? And then the recovery's quick,
(35:17):
You're not on the table long, and it's not invasive.
All those things, plus you can work out your payment plan.
Get it done right with doctor Jeff Witzet because your
eyes are important, as you well know, and he's going
to make sure you understand just how comfortable you can be.
And that's a good thing. He's the best in the business,
and I'm grateful. I am a patient. It's seven one
three three sixty five ninety seven nine seven one three
(35:40):
three sixty five ninety seven ninety nine. You can get
him at witsit vision dot com. Go for your free
review wits it vision dot com.
Speaker 1 (35:51):
This Sean Salisbury Show continues to.
Speaker 5 (35:53):
Continue Sean Salisbury Shows, Sports Talks seven ninety Astros now
(36:42):
in Anaheim taking on the Angels for a weekend series.
Speaker 4 (36:46):
Need a sweep? Need it in the worst way.
Speaker 5 (36:48):
It's gonna get going tonight seven thirty Astros on deck
coming your way. Jason Alexander on the mouth. Texans are
at home for the Titans and they're looking for their
first regular season win in the Ryder Cup. You got
three groups out right now and us say us say
up one oh right now Scheffler, Scheffler. Their group just tied.
Speaker 6 (37:10):
Uh what Ludvigan, Matt Fitzpatrick, Scheffler and Russell Henley. He
made about a twelve footer for Bertie, so that one's
tied up. Uh and the maricw the mclroy Fleetwood, Marikawa
Harris English are both sitting in the rough with the
t shots hitting their second shot at at number one.
Speaker 5 (37:28):
I've had a friend and my brother that have gone
to the Ryder Cup. It's on the list, like I
do want to go. Oh my gosh, and my buddy
that went to the one in Rome. The day that
he went in Rome, went in Rome, he addressed as
the pope.
Speaker 4 (37:41):
I like it, so he should. He was there as
the Pope. That's not sacrilegious. Now that's me.
Speaker 5 (37:46):
If you're if you're Catholic, yeah, that's you know, it's
it's one hundred percent getting some respect.
Speaker 9 (37:50):
You know.
Speaker 5 (37:50):
I was gonna say, if one of the Protestants, you know,
do it, then of course we have to have an issue.
Speaker 4 (37:53):
But yeah, like what do you do coming over into
the crib?
Speaker 9 (37:55):
Right?
Speaker 7 (37:56):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (37:56):
Yeah, what do you what do you think our denomination
is a joke to you?
Speaker 4 (38:00):
What the hell is your problem? But I'm allowed to
do it because I but.
Speaker 5 (38:03):
I was gonna say, I mean, I think if I
ever went I would really try to lean into it
and dresses, Paul Revere.
Speaker 4 (38:08):
Why not?
Speaker 6 (38:09):
Yeah? Why wouldn't you? Yeah, why wouldn't you? This is Halloway,
do you get addresses? Nikobad Graide too right?
Speaker 5 (38:15):
I mean if I was the headless Horseman, that probably
wouldn't work out well for me. You know, I love it.
It could be, it could be in play for many
different reasons. But no, we'll we'll keep you up with
what's going on with the Ryder Cup, but with the Strows,
and we can carry this over into the seven o'clock
hour if you want. But I hear people all the
time call in and say, well, they get into the postseason,
(38:37):
they're not going to do anything. And it just dawned
on me last night. That's not the point. It's not
the point. The point is I at least want to
take a shot. I don't want to. Hey, what could
have been? Or man, that was really disappointing at the
end of the season. If you get in and you
get knocked out in the first two rounds, okay, fine.
Speaker 6 (38:55):
Well you have no shot if you don't get in.
And I've always I've had this happen when I was
playing people. Would you'd hear people and people come and say, hey, listen,
would you rather get in and get beat in the
playoffs or you don't make a super just go home early.
And I'm like, you know, if you're like an underdog
going in, you got in on the last day. And
I always love when people say you backed in. You
don't back in because you've created a situation where you're
(39:16):
in position. If somebody lose, you win, you get in.
So backing in is really it's an unfair statement because
all the work.
Speaker 7 (39:23):
You put in.
Speaker 4 (39:23):
It's like, well, how dare you man? We didn't back in.
Speaker 6 (39:26):
We may have got beat the last game of the season,
somebody lost as well, and so we did get in
because we won the tiebreaker. That's just doing enough to
win the tiebreaker. And I don't know a player now,
maybe some, but everybody believes they have a chance when
you get in.
Speaker 4 (39:40):
Everybody does. And no, it's not better to go home.
Speaker 6 (39:43):
Well, everybody wants a little extra playoff cutting sports, sup
But regardless that once you get in the playoffs, honest
to god, the money, even when you're a rookie that
loves playoff money, that's not making the money. Like when
I came, it's like, man, that playoff money be great,
But once that there's that threshold. Once you get to that,
it's like, send about money, dude. This is about advancing,
and we'll take it at the end. But this is
(40:04):
about being able to walk into a place and having
a big ass ring on your finger and saying all
the years you prepared for this. You were not when
you were eight thinking about You didn't say, man, I
just hit a shot for a million dollars. When you're eight,
you hit the shot that everybody's telling you the greatest
in the world, because you want a championship.
Speaker 4 (40:18):
As you get older, you start to look at it.
Speaker 6 (40:19):
Oh, that money looks nice too, But the one people say,
oh that's for that, that's just fan media stupidity banter
to say, oh, what's the big deal, Thay, well, if
they get into maybe maybe they run on a three
a three week cock streak and they get it. Now
maybe the chance to say, well, the team's banged up,
maybe they can't, but we've seen it, and so you say, well,
(40:40):
of course you want to get in and have a
run for it. So the fact that well they got
no shot getting in, well you may believe that's sit
at home, but I got news for it. In every
locker room I've ever been in, we look at that
and say, you're out of your damn mind.
Speaker 4 (40:50):
Yeah we do got it.
Speaker 6 (40:51):
Well, you get in and you never know what one play,
one hit, one pitching out in one inning, one.
Speaker 4 (40:56):
One throw is gonna make. And it does.
Speaker 6 (40:58):
You know, four or five plays get you to the
second round, and then you start to feel it again.
You're like, wait a minute now, and I'm just telling
you with teams that are underdogs are not supposed to
be there, let them hang around and get to belief
and you'll see the difference between the first team and
the last team. Ain't that big a deal. It's about
two players, about six plays, and a little bit of luck.
In all sports, that's about what it comes down to.
(41:20):
So that flies well, if you get in. I just
simply said, I don't know how big a chance they
got to roll through the playoffs, but in order to
have a chance, you got to get in. And no
player I know goes in thinking we got no shot.
We're the wildcard, we got no shot. Well, win two
in the wild card and guess what you're doing. You
got into a longer series.
Speaker 4 (41:38):
There you go.
Speaker 6 (41:39):
So I'm all for getting in and then taking your
chances there because the difference, even though maybe one game
that gets you in, you're still playing and that's the
whole goal.
Speaker 5 (41:50):
It absolutely is, And the Astro is able to set
themselves up for this because of a great performance yesterday
out of fromber Is it gonna make a difference in
the all grand scheme of things. We'll talk about it
right here as we get into the seven o'clock hour
here on a fight Song Friday, Shawn Salisbury Show, Sports
Talk seven ninety. But I've told you numerous times and
(42:11):
I'll continue to tell you just because that's how big

Speaker 11 (44:01):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 1 (44:02):
Sean Salisbury.
Speaker 2 (44:06):
To usc Troupes, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 1 (44:08):
Dan MATTHEWSCU. This is the Sean Salsbury Show.
Speaker 5 (44:17):
Astros taking on the Angels this weekend in Anaheim. After
beating the A's yesterday eleven to five fromer Valdez seven
innings out of him, Welcome back Fromber. That's all.
Speaker 4 (44:27):
It was just just you.
Speaker 5 (44:29):
Know, cut the crop and then be able to go
back out there and be the guy that he used
to be.
Speaker 4 (44:34):
That's all I loved.
Speaker 5 (44:36):
I was, you know, watching the TV side yesterday and
Blumber goes. I guess this is the reverse Sampson, you know.
That's That's the only thing I can think.
Speaker 4 (44:43):
Of on this.
Speaker 6 (44:46):
Yeah, it looked like Fromber is supposed to look, and
it was, and you kind of know, and then you're
hoping that there's not the one sideways inning right, and
if there is, that he can come out of it.
There was some that looked like you can go that way.
But then yes, that's exactly right. Then the key for
(45:06):
me for him is a fast start, not just for
him the offense. Yes, it's like when they oh, you
blink and it's five to nothing and you're like okay,
and then from where you can see, you know, walked
one and struck out six, you're like, okay that Now,
now he's into that. There's no tension. There's one swing
of the bat doesn't change the course of the game.
(45:27):
It's almost as if he needs Okay, they they posted
for me, Now just go do my thing. Because when
they do that and he's pitching, well, dude, I looked
at that thing. When I've said you're watching, it's like
the fourth inning, I'm like, they got no shot. Now,
then now he has settled in. They they posted that lead,
they got no shot, and then they continue to build, obviously,
and then when you score double digit runs, you're gonna win.
(45:48):
But I never saw him. I mean, he is really
really good when you when you give him some really,
I guess most are, but for him, it's almost he's
almost he comes almost unhittable at times when he has
that feeling going.
Speaker 4 (46:03):
Now, hopefully they.
Speaker 6 (46:05):
Will get into the postseason and you'll get to see
that fromber and the Hunter Brown, we know, doing their thing.
But you can't. You can't have one mental lapse the
next three games. You just can't. And Jason Alexander get
back and do what you did to help get him
to this position. You can't have one where you just
kind of oh man, and do not let the angels
(46:27):
hang around where it's two to two in the seventh
or the eighth inning. You have got to put your
literally your cleat on their throat early and bury any
opportunity so you start to put pressure in another series
and make sure they know what's going on. You can't
let any doubt sneak into this one. Plus that would
end up meaning you're four in a row heading into
the postseason.
Speaker 4 (46:46):
All if it works out the way it's supposed to do.
Speaker 5 (46:48):
Well, and it's the good thing for you that you're
gonna know what you need to do. I mean, you
know that you need to win regardless, but you're gonna
know what's already happened with Detroit and Boston. You're gonna
know what's happened with the.
Speaker 6 (47:00):
East coasters as opposed to right the West Coast game
that you're gonna be dealing with it. You'll have an idea.
The truth of the matter is, you don't take care
of your business, it won't matter. Truer words never spoken Frombery.
Speaker 5 (47:12):
Yes, today, seven innings, ten strikeouts, walks, a couple, gives
up a run, but scatters seven hits during that performance.
And I mean it's it's almost like a little part
of you is you're ecstatic that he did what he
did yesterday. But then the other part of you is like, brother,
I mean, couldn't we have done this like maybe about
a month ago.
Speaker 6 (47:31):
Like three or four times in a row. Yeah, Yeah,
like the guy we've seen when he's going on one
of those heaters where you just like every time he
shows up, it's a no brainer. He's getting you out right,
we're unfortunately before, man, what are we doing right before?
But yeah, a little freshness and getting on them, but
before the fresh.
Speaker 4 (47:48):
Cup makes a difference.
Speaker 6 (47:49):
Right, you talk about now you talk about a streaky pitcher.
When he's going good, you're like, oh, that's four and
five and six in a row. You're like, it's the
best pitcher on baseball.
Speaker 4 (47:57):
There's a reason there's hashtag good from right.
Speaker 6 (47:59):
And then there's the when he's not going good in
the streak is the other way. You're like, you're not
just a guy, dude. People pay big money to have
your stuff. Okay, they would pay here. It's like it's
like the lady when you see like my son and
I and I don't mean this. My son has the
one who just got married has a lot of waves
and curls in his hair, and condos love that because
(48:20):
I cut my hair.
Speaker 4 (48:21):
I do my hair.
Speaker 6 (48:22):
You saw the old school, long and wavy and curly, disnatural.
And I always joke, I say, hey, women pay big
money for this stuff to go and get it done
where it's satural. It's the same thing people pay would
pay huge money to have that skill set, right, You'd say, oh,
if I just had that, if I have had the
ability to make people hit ground balls and to get
people out and have that talent, people pay huge money
(48:44):
for that.
Speaker 4 (48:45):
Some do it illegally to.
Speaker 6 (48:46):
Try and get that kind of stuff, you know what
I mean. In other sports, it's like, damn this guy,
this guy, so just apply that if we can get
that fromber in the postseason. But you're right, the streak,
but when he's not going good. That's the from where
you're like, know, no, people also pay big money to
get rid of those sideways emotional moments that bog him down.
(49:07):
People pay big money for that to go try to
have somebody else tell you, hey, man, here's how you
get through that. Golfers walking up and down the course
with their bob Rotella's of the world. Right, So what
from are you gonna get? But right now it doesn't
matter because Romber is not going to have any Now.
I don't know what happens if they get to Game
three and you need all hands on deck, you sweep. Yeah,
he may get it anything or two.
Speaker 5 (49:28):
And that's what I was even thinking about too, is
can't leave anything on the table. You got the first
two games like it is going to be Johnny Hohlestaff
time on Sunday, first season baseball.
Speaker 6 (49:37):
All of them are up. Yes, and you're not worried
about what about the game one?
Speaker 4 (49:39):
I don't care.
Speaker 6 (49:40):
I got I get In order to get the Game one,
I got to do it so you may see him that.
That's exactly you may see him in game three of
this series for any who knows.
Speaker 7 (49:50):
Right.
Speaker 6 (49:51):
So with that in mind, it's it's and you hope
that Fromber is that guy that you saw yesterday, And
but a lot of that also stems from that confidence
that we all get when it's like, as a quarterback,
when I go out there and they've already they've got
a defensive touchdown or they got to stop punting from
their own ins on we get the ball to forty
two yard line. After the first series of the game,
you're like, and then you go score. It's like, then
(50:13):
they all get a next stop, and before you know it,
you're up fourteen to nothing, and you know it. While
the offense went and scored, it really was dictated by
the confidence the defense showed and setting them down twice
giving us a short field go in. It's basically the
equivalent with that offense yesterday of giving your pitcher the
short the short field to go in, or like you
shortened the game for the pitcher. All he's got to
do is just pitch normal, not spectacular to get through it.
Speaker 5 (50:34):
It's exactly what the Texans did after they got the
turnover on Sunday, where I'd even said it, I go,
this is when you take a shot right here, and
then sure enough you get Nico Collins double move on
Tyson Campbell when he's wide open and you get them.
Speaker 6 (50:46):
I'm a big quick change turnover, take a shot guy,
always have been. And that's you know normally when you
see it, get the ball turned over at midfield at
your own forty. Therefore, you can usually count on the
coach who comes back and runs inside zone and gets
rid to people are pitted. You can use now how
you dial up the big play and it may be
the second play of the series. You run a slant
(51:06):
and then go a slug, go a slant and go.
But those quick change turnovers because the chain the defense
comes back on the field like, oh my gosh, we're
already tired, we haven't got our gator and they haven't
even settled in. So you try to get them creeping
or sleeping or a little bit casual and you run
by it. But then you got to complete the play. Now,
you definitely do. And sometimes those downfield throws. That's been
(51:26):
an issue for CJ. But here's the other thing is
which is so odd because that's is a rookie.
Speaker 4 (51:30):
That's what he wanted.
Speaker 6 (51:31):
He was the best mid range thrower, as good as
we had in the league. Off balance in the pocket,
whatever in the pocket even more. And the shots, those
deep overs, the dig routes, the the bank pulls, everything
was in in. What he throwing in rhythm was just
on time and right with the proper layering of the throw.
He's got to get that back, which goes back to
this defense. You can't continue to carry the burden of
(51:53):
you know, damn near and when I say pitching, shoutouts, dude,
in NFL, you're giving up just thirteen seventeen, less than
twenty point.
Speaker 4 (52:00):
It's a week. Your defense is pretty damn good. It's
all encompassing.
Speaker 5 (52:03):
I mean, it's a number of plays, it's the time
of possession, it's all of those things where, yeah, you
do need to prolong drives. But here's the thing that
I've never bought about Fromber and his impending free agency.
Oh this is going to hurt him with teams. I
think that the cross up definitely did. I do think
there are probably are teams out there saying we want
to give this guy a long term deal.
Speaker 4 (52:22):
Yeah, no thanks.
Speaker 5 (52:24):
But how many times, though, Sean, do we see that
a guy is aces in the postseason, either hitter or pitcher,
and that gets them a big deal.
Speaker 4 (52:33):
Well, listen.
Speaker 6 (52:34):
I just want to you guys have to understand this
and people that he is going to get a huge deal,
because if you're worried about the cross up, you know
what you do as an organization during free free agency,
whether it's here, you bring him in the said and
say what happened?
Speaker 7 (52:46):
Man?
Speaker 6 (52:46):
Because everybody believes they can fix somebody. Yeah, the other
team says, now here's how you wait. You say, I've
always said this when it comes to like when you
run into guys who've had a problem off the field, right,
he asked, is the headache bigger than the talent?
Speaker 4 (53:01):
If it is, stay away from it. We see it
all the time.
Speaker 6 (53:03):
If the talent's bigger than the headache, but there's still
a headache, you say, well, is it a migraine or
is it just a little dull. Well, I'll take him
because I can deal with a dull headache. Some even
think they can handle the migraine. Maybe just avoid meta
there you go, whatever it might be. And yeah, yeah,
imatrex for you migraine people out there. So but when
it comes to this, you'll say, okay, does the one
(53:25):
time cross up? Can we fix him? Does he They'll
talk about it, But you just look at this stuff.
I don't care. If he goes out in the first
game of the postseason and gets his ass handed to
him on a platter, then why would you pay Kyle Tucker.
He hadn't been good in the postseason. That's exactly right.
So when it's a premium left hander, it doesn't matter.
(53:48):
I got news for you that didn't cost him a dime.
For some, it may say, do we want to is
he worth that price at thirty million for six Some
may just decide all of it may not be worth it.
But that incident which pissed us off and is like,
you'd be a better teammate, and you owe it to
your team to be a better teammate. But he's still throwing,
and they talk about competitive and you know, people here,
(54:09):
when you can pitch like he can, he's getting paid,
and nobody's gonna dock some guaranteed or in well, it's baseball,
they're all guaranteed. Nobody's gonna go ahead and say, let's
take five million dollars off the side because what he
did with his cat with with you know, the catcher,
that David Salazar, that's not gonna happen he is going
to get paid, whether it's here somewhere else, regardless of yesterday,
and that may be the last start. He may have
(54:30):
pitched his last moment with the with the Astros, and
if he did, he's going out and people are gonna
pay him big money. He will be one of the
hot commodities this offseason. Whether we like it or not.
He is going to be because of his stuff.
Speaker 5 (54:45):
Tip of the hat as from Ervalda is able to
put together a hell of a performance yesterday. Hope to
get to see him at least one more time this year.
All right, stake out time because a sport that Sean
loves and it's near and year to his heart. Could
we have seen a king be part of said sports?
Speaker 4 (55:03):
Maybe? So we'll talk about it right here.
Speaker 5 (55:05):
Sean Salisbury Show on a fight Song Friday, Sports Talk
seven ninety.
Speaker 6 (55:09):

Speaker 1 (56:48):
Now back to Sean Salisbury. All right, Sean, what are
you hearing out there now? The Salisbury's takeout, Alsbury's take
out on.
Speaker 9 (57:02):
The Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (57:22):
It is Sean Salisbury Shows, Sports Talk seven ninety's the
Strows when yesterday in West Sacramento over the A's and
they take that one eleven to five. They're an Anaheim
taking on the Angels. Texans get the Titans on Sunday.
They're looking for their first win of the regular season.
We got four matches out there at Best Page Black
Day one foursome's out there. You got two for the US,
(57:45):
two for the Euros right now leading their matches.
Speaker 6 (57:48):
And John Rahm is in uh. It looks like a
big part what do we call we call that pint.
That's not pint straw grass, I forget what they call it.
It's like it's the thicket. Yeah, he's exactly it. It's
and it's well, we've all been there. The difference is
Rong probably knows how to get out of it and
those of us as we amateur don't.
Speaker 4 (58:08):
But this is a hard shot.
Speaker 6 (58:09):
They're down one to Dishambo and Thomas and it doesn't
look real good because Deshambo hit his ball from the
rough to about eight ten feet.
Speaker 5 (58:17):
Yeah, that's one of those right there that if you
know we were able to which number one? I mean
with that, if you're just out there hacking it around
on the weekend, that's great shot.
Speaker 6 (58:27):
And it is like fifteen. He has no business hitting
it out of there. He has no business movie get
ten feet. He moved it to ten feet from the flat.
Speaker 5 (58:34):
We're taking on plaid and we're watching it on TV.
And it's what always cracks me up to And I
remember my mom pointed this out years ago. It was
a chip at the Masters that somebody had in there,
like this is impossible, and they chipped it to like
three feet, and her point was valid. They're pros for
a reason. Yeah, it's impossible for me, right, not impossible
for him. We're flying it in the Rays Creek. I mean,
(58:55):
there's no doubt.
Speaker 6 (58:55):
Like I said, if you saw the lie there, it's like,
there's no way he gets this matter effect just to
hit it the bunker and how he's.
Speaker 4 (59:01):
Gonna have to punch out or something, agreed.
Speaker 6 (59:02):
Yeah, and he it's a damn near as good as
to Shambeau. It is hints why they're Uh, these guys
are phenomenal. To watch the things they can do with
a golf club in their hand that most of us
couldn't do just holding the ball in our hand is
pretty phenomenal.
Speaker 4 (59:18):
All right.
Speaker 5 (59:19):
So this is something that I think is going to
interest you because it's always the football players want to
be baseball players. Baseball players want to be basketball players.
Basketball players want to be football players.
Speaker 4 (59:30):
It's and they all want to be golfers.
Speaker 5 (59:32):
Yeah, exactly, exactly, endless cycle one. The guy we're going
to talk about, he's case in point with that Lebron.
He's picked up the game and he's got the itch
now when it comes to it. But Lebron says on
the DraftKings podcast with Matthew Berry that when the NBA
was going through the lockout in twenty ten, twenty eleven,
that Pete Carroll reached out to him and said, Hey,
(59:54):
do you want to come in for a workout?
Speaker 4 (59:56):
Do you want to you want to see if you
can do this? And the weird thing is on that.
Speaker 5 (01:00:01):
I think that again, it's learning technique, it's learning how
to play the positions, all of that.
Speaker 4 (01:00:06):
I almost feel like with football.
Speaker 5 (01:00:09):
Todd McClure played in the NFL for a long time
and he had a baseball background. His brother is high
up with Marucci pretty much started Marucci bats and played
baseball at LSU, And I remember Todd said it years
ago where he goes, if you're a good enough athlete
and you learn the technique, you can play football. Baseball
is the ultimate either got it or you don't. Basketball.
(01:00:29):
I kind of feel like it's both because you can
either shoot or you can't.
Speaker 1 (01:00:33):
But you.
Speaker 6 (01:00:35):
Can be a banger on the and still find minute. Sure,
there you go, So you got there. There's about eight
different type of skill sets that can you can survive
in the league.
Speaker 4 (01:00:43):
But there's a reason why.
Speaker 5 (01:00:44):
I mean this started years ago with Tony Gonzalez and
Antonio Gates where it was at, you know, Jimmy Graham
of Hey, let's see how the guy's post work is.
Speaker 4 (01:00:54):
Do you have any football background? Yeah, I play a
little bit in high school. Let's get you out here.
Speaker 5 (01:00:58):
LSU's got a guy trade as Green was was a
basketball guy for them.
Speaker 4 (01:01:01):
He's six' seven and can jump out of the.
Speaker 5 (01:01:03):
Gym where it's you get it in the red zone
there you're anywhere close to the goal. Line why wouldn't
you throw it to a guy that has an outstanding?
Vertical is six seven going against a five, ten five eleven?
Speaker 4 (01:01:14):
Corner n?
Speaker 3 (01:01:14):
Right you.
Speaker 6 (01:01:15):
Would and it's then the one thing about the position
he would have, played which is wide Receiver lebron speaking,
of is you know he's got great hands and bout.
Everything every skill set he has points to now had
he had done it from high school to college, PRO i,
mean you're looking at a six' eight beast on. The
outside you're Looking at megatron plus a few inches right
(01:01:37):
and and and his and his Physical Especialities lane kiff
forever there. No doubt, so yeah that's What's Taking, Jimaccus,
russell yes.
Speaker 5 (01:01:46):
You should take. That guy he's going to Be a Hall, of, Famer,
right no We Taking. Jimacus, russell okay and, then yeah
and now look but the lane said the hell, With
this no doubt they said it.
Speaker 4 (01:01:55):
To him but you get. MY point i do.
Speaker 6 (01:01:56):
Get It, So, LEBRON yeah i mean we, joke say,
you know could?
Speaker 7 (01:02:02):
He have?
Speaker 6 (01:02:02):
Could he we just assumed everybody's a good athlete and
Like A russ westbrook could automatically played football maybe when.
They started now now when you're eight years into your
basketball career trying to. Do it there's a big difference
in getting a low block forearm in your back as
opposed to, somebody, saying oh, Like yours well look? How
big it doesn't, Matter, right okay there are a lot of.
Big guys it. Still, hurts okay and to understand that
(01:02:25):
the head on the football as opposed to waiting for
the guy to come. Hit, you now all that, being
said and we don't know as big, and physical is
that that punishment?
Speaker 4 (01:02:34):
You take that's the only?
Speaker 6 (01:02:35):
For me, you, Say, okay Well if lebron, would have
like after, four years would have gone TO, the NFL
do i think his skill set? Says phenomenal, of course
a six eighth guy with hands who could jump and
go play and who's just got high basketball. LIKE you
i would assume he had pretty HIGH. Football IQ but
i know people make it sound that it's easier than.
Said none it wasn't Easy For. Tony gonzalez and now
(01:02:58):
as A basketball i mean you saw he was a
banger and a. Basketball player but to go from when
football is your sport to another sport's tougher than going
from basketball to being a guy because those guys are.
So athletics it's kind of what they do and to.
Do it it's what kind of hits and can you
take on a. Daily basis and that's the only thing
that you would have Questioned About Lebron well sean, how
physical it. Doesn't matter there's still guys that get hurt and.
(01:03:20):
Get Beata julio jones was a. Big Guy larry Fitzgerald
and lebron would have been the most unique wide receiver.
In HISTORY but i would have called him TO if
i Was p caroll to tempt. Him absolutely and.
Speaker 5 (01:03:31):
Speaking Of, tony gonzalez if you go back and watch,
his catches he used to catch the football like he
was boxing. Someone out, no doubt like he would sit
down on his route and almost like, ass out like
keep the defender off of him to get.
Speaker 6 (01:03:44):
The football and you know what's, interesting too is that
they don't catch. The ball the reason those Guys like
Lebron And tony gonzalez at those those that end up
playing tight in or would have played wide receiver is
basketball players catch ball with hands and it's important they
don't get the body. It right so, you know you
throw a quick chess pass to your buddy who's, not
ready hits it bit, a gut but they got it
(01:04:05):
and it, is well the, ball's different, obviously shaped but
there's still that the instincts of hand eye coordination of
catching a ball off a bounce passer you can catch
and get to, the rim all.
Speaker 4 (01:04:16):
Those little things to go.
Speaker 6 (01:04:17):
With it there's no Doubt If lebron james was committed
to being a football player and went through, the oh
he took a hit and can take the. Consistent HITS like,
i said you can be a small guy and take
a lot. Of hits you can be a big guy
and not take. Any hits that would have been the
only thing of going. From basketball while basketball at times
is a. Contact sport football is a, violent sport and
there is a major difference and the hits you take
(01:04:39):
out there and one of those will make, you say you,
KNOW what I think.
Speaker 4 (01:04:41):
I'd rather go back and.
Speaker 6 (01:04:42):
Play basketball but skill, set wise, come, ON dude i
would have been trying AS an nfl coach for the
first fifteen years of. His, career yeah the first decade saying.
Speaker 4 (01:04:53):
You don't want to try double up on.
Speaker 5 (01:04:54):
This thing skill, position skills right, outside linebacker smaller.
Speaker 6 (01:04:59):
Edge, rusher yeah That's. Exactly, now yeah he, ain't playing
he ain't Doing What michael. Parsons DOES but i got news.
For you you want to. Cover him you want to
cover that guy on. The perimeter it's like if you
learn how to run. Precise route it comes to, jump ball,
good luck because there was one time from end in
nobody could Get from indian with a basketball and put
the ball on. The Deck now lebron was as fast
(01:05:19):
as There was indian as we had IN the nba at,
His size, SO yes i think he would. Have, transcend
now not every athlete and basketball people say, Oh Yeah
Shay gildas alex and slow your roll a little, bit
now as if it's just a. Passing fancy but none
of them can go and do what they do is
in their craft for all and then pop into a
batter's box and hit ninety eight up and off speed
(01:05:41):
away and think and see that would have been. Too
tough but when you're a great athlete and the Pro Like,
tony Gonzalez Like, Lebron James lebron james could have been
a phenomenal wide receiver as long as the hits allowed
him to that he could handle that part, of it there's.
No doubt if you're just lining him up, and, PLAYING
say i need. An athlete that's. A. Beast uh has
there ever been any buddy?
Speaker 7 (01:06:00):
Like?
Speaker 6 (01:06:00):
Him, No right SO if i was, At, yeah sewan

you know can you get your hands to the ball
and take. The punishment that's some two hundred and twenty
pounds strong safety's going to. Give you if you can,
do that then with, his athleticism he would have been
a phenomenal watch, in football no doubt.

(01:08:58):
the regular, season sweep so take care of business There, In,
anaheim texans we're going to talk about. Right Now get
titans at Home, on sunday they're looking for their first
win of the regular season And The Ryder cup. Day
one four sums that are out there. Right now you
got two in favor OF the us, right now and
then two in favor Of. The euros Although Lud vig
(01:09:19):
Oberg And matthew fitzpatrick up three through Six on Scheffler And, Russell,
henley yeah that's.
Speaker 6 (01:09:25):
Not good and anybody that remembers a while Back when
Scheffler And brooks koepka got beat By Ludvig olbergen and
UH well i just mentioned his. Name too You Have
victor hoblin nine and seven.
Speaker 4 (01:09:44):
Beat him? By nine was? Set nine start him. To
go scheffler's gonna be out there.
Speaker 6 (01:09:48):
Non flashbacks that's exactly right thinking both of these guys
are also plaguing In This ryder cup Even though i'm
playing against one. Of them he got me, last time
And And victor hoblin's waiting for his opportunit you know.
Speaker 4 (01:10:01):
This afternoon.
Speaker 6 (01:10:01):
I'm, sure, yeah dude you don't want to get, into
that Especially When russell henley And and scheffler or points
you count on and then that we just saw that
they couldn't move that branch underneath that was there because
you're afraid it was going to move. The, ball yeah
and What Is terrell hatton? To do hits it to
about fifteen twenty, Feet dude IT'S like i he had
no business making that or.
Speaker 4 (01:10:22):
Twenty feet so It's a i'll tell.
Speaker 6 (01:10:24):
You what you you mess Around, these, europeans dude they
they will put their foot on. Your throat you have
got to keep pace because those guys are guys Like
Weird mitch bob McIntyre, Rock mckinnar i'm frigging.
Speaker 7 (01:10:36):
Mean.
Speaker 6 (01:10:36):
Ass course oh he's unreal and he loves, this stuff,
so yes they this is this is a phenomenal and
it's another one on the green and gives you a
chance To. Make birdie so this is going to be
a hell of. A thing but you do not want
to get Down to Oldberg and fitzpatrick more than. Three
holes you've got to start to steal a few or
it's a it's, a beatdown and that's not the way
(01:10:58):
you want. To start But the shamba and almost are doing.
Their part This is chafflin.
Speaker 5 (01:11:02):
Can't lay shuffler is going to almost Be Like frank
costanza with cooking because of his Was? It korea was
that where, he was but the flashbacks of making the
guys heave, over There so frank didn't cook.
Speaker 4 (01:11:15):
For years then he Finally said i'm.
Speaker 12 (01:11:16):
Back.
Speaker 5 (01:11:17):
Baby yeah that's that's what, you Need. O sheffler you
need him to make a putt and Then say i'm.
Speaker 13 (01:11:20):
Back.
Speaker 6 (01:11:21):
Baby yes and now here's the opposite part. Of that
if you are able to chase, them down then it
puts it. On them oh and then and and then
beat them leading into. The, Afternoon man, you're like that
is one hell of a shot in, the, arm dude
to do it to come back from. Three, down yeah
that's important because three down feels like you're down three
touchdowns in the, third quarter. You know but that's the
(01:11:43):
great thing about. Match play you blink and it's three,
To three so they got to just start making.
Speaker 4 (01:11:47):
Some putts that hitting, it, CLOSE dude i.
Speaker 5 (01:11:49):
Mean you just mentioning about, THE afternoon i mean you
completely forget.
Speaker 4 (01:11:52):
About that I'm just i'm so excited for me just everything.
RIGHT now i CAN'T even i woke up to spoil the.
Speaker 6 (01:12:00):
Hook up if they can give you out a bed,
At three i'm ready for, this stuff say.
Speaker 4 (01:12:04):
As if, i'm playing, you.
Speaker 5 (01:12:05):
Know right and it's, funny TOO because i got asked
by a buddy, of mine a, YOU know lsu plays
tomorrow you want, To, go like there's part of me
because where we would go is a. Fun place but
then there's part of me that's like then you got
to ask if they're gonna have it ON, the tv
and then, you know can you get it ON? This
tv all that kind, of stuff whereas there's so many
other things you want to watch when it's a. Home,
GAME yeah I mean i CONTROL. The tv i'm, The
(01:12:27):
manager I'M, the gm i'm, The bartender i'm all of.
Speaker 4 (01:12:30):
Those things that's.
Speaker 6 (01:12:31):
Exactly right that's why, one thing when there's a great all, the, games,
Like yeah i'd like, to GO but i can watch
IT on tv and still get the effect with watching
all the. Other stuff when it's one of those there's
two really good college games on You say i'm, all
in and there's Not A, ryder cup and it's it's
a different. Golf weekend it's not, this, Important right i'm.
WITH you i would rather. Control, it everything, the food everything's. Right,
(01:12:52):
There yeah i'm with you one. Hundred percent but while
it's an intrigue, OF going i don't want to miss
all the other stuff that's going to. Go on too
much good, baseball, happening wait too much good. College football
i'll tell you one thing ABOUT the nfl. THIS year
i think the play, is. SUBPAR dude i think we're,
getting offensively we're getting a lot. Worse play the level
(01:13:13):
of play IN the nfl offensively and even at the
quarterback position once you get by the first few has
been is. Not good, right, now Dude and i'm telling
you it leads from all the everything we do in
high school and college to get. TO it i don't
think we're as prepared as we've been in the past
because of all the off. Schedule stuff but that's for.
Another conversation, but, yeah man there's there's too much good
(01:13:33):
going on this weekend, with, baseball golf and football and
both COLLEGE AND nfl uh to to be settled in
on just one for me.
Speaker 4 (01:13:40):
IN person i got to watch.
Speaker 5 (01:13:41):
Them All so Debbie the texan is gonna like what
somebody said inside the building yesterday about a.
Speaker 4 (01:13:47):
Great person she, is too but she's a, huge fan
but she is of. Her, text, yah no all. Of
THEM but i, Gotta, SAY debbie i. Don't agree. I'm sorry.
Speaker 5 (01:13:58):
We'll discuss here Is A sean, Salisbury Show sports talk
seven To.
Speaker 6 (01:14:01):
NINETY Now dnm leasing just delivered a truck to a
customer who had LISTENED to dnm for more than twenty.
Five years think, about that and he'd been hearing these,
commercials forever right, for decades he believed leasing was just renting.
A car i put in, air quotes something you only
did if you couldn't afford to buy and who hasn't, been, there,
Right GUYS But dnm leasing's here to. Change that that
changed when the dealership offered him an eighty four. Month
(01:14:23):
loan he knew he'd trade the truck in in a,
few years and he knew he'd end up well upside,
down again owing more than it.
Speaker 14 (01:14:31):
Was.
Speaker 6 (01:14:31):
Worth well that's when he REMEMBERED the dnm commercials ever
Seen a texas title and when you trade in a long,
finance contract the only thing you own is. Negative equity,
those quotes so HE called, dnm leasing showed him is
that leasing isn't about what you. Can afford it's simply
the smarter way most people pay for. Their vehicles smarter
see what smarter does, For YOU and dnm leasing. Is
(01:14:54):
smart leasing. Isn't renting let me say, It again leasing.
Isn't renting it's sm who doesn't. Want smarter harder doesn't.
Always work, smarter does and especially when it puts money
in your pocket and makes it easier for you at,
the beginning, the middle and. The end dial seven one
three two nine zero, one thousand seven one three two
(01:15:15):
nine zero, one thousand or visit us at D. N

press conferences where whenever a head coach gets hired and
then they have him do the school, you know the,
school THING like, i, think, uh well was It Didn't
mike elko kind of get dragged For the aggie warham
sway or Was? It jimbo it was one of, the
(01:16:17):

hey look maybe explain it to him first before they
know what they're. Getting INTO but I Remember bila man
has studied and. Practiced it his wife up there doing
the calling. The hogs, but anyway for the razorback fans,
out there we. Got you there, you go even if

now and the stro is getting ready For the Angels
in anaheim after Beating the. Ace yesterday so you need
a good series. This Weekend, jeremy pania by, the way
strained obleik on the. Left side he's day, to day,
he says so hopefully you get to see him. This
weekend But the texans who were talking, about right hay.
Speaker 6 (01:17:23):
Obleak injuries they've happened way. Too often it's a drive.
You Nuts but derek, extinly too is that the new thing?
Speaker 15 (01:17:30):
For us?
Speaker 6 (01:17:30):
Right now strained, o bleaks didn't we have didn't haven't?
We Seen al twovey has been through one like in,
the past, right yeah we see. HIM there, I mean
i know with the torque and the upper body turn.
AND stuff i mean, between golfers and you'd think golfers
and baseball players probably suffer it more. Than others, but,
yeah uh, if anything and going into, the postseason guess
who you need really really healthy that cat if you're
(01:17:54):
able to, get there and it'd be great to have
him fully healthy in these.
Speaker 4 (01:17:57):
Next THREE so i Noticed A.
Speaker 5 (01:17:58):
Daniel vogelbacher any of those guys never really. Got obleed
you can't, pull, cheese well That's what that's. What Said
ozzie gian was like the guy that eats burgers and drinks. But,
heavies yeah, that guys that guy's. Not pulling you can't.
Pull fat think about when you get.
Speaker 6 (01:18:12):
Some moods when you're, pulling cheese you just stretches, and
stretches nice.
Speaker 4 (01:18:16):
Little hot you can't pull a, love, handle dude. That's
true you know.
Speaker 6 (01:18:19):
It's true it's all tightened up and you Got your
see here's. The difference guys in shape call. Them obliques
guy's fat out of shaped gold. Love handle yeah you
can't yet the guy with. Its, shape yeah the guy that's, in,
shape well he pulls it obleaque and it. Say's out
you never hear a fat guy pulling. It oblique, why
BECAUSE like, i said you can't, pull cheese man.
Speaker 4 (01:18:41):
Stretch cheese you just can't. Pull it the hell With
make america? Healthy again, you, know, hey look you know
if you're a little over, obleaques fat.
Speaker 5 (01:18:48):
It makes there you go that sexans you seeing any?
Progress offensively well maybe you, might Not and. I'm not
but if You Ask, nick kayley he said he.
Speaker 4 (01:19:00):
Is from a.
Speaker 16 (01:19:01):
Process, standpoint look when we go out and we execute
and we do the things that we're supposed to do
out on the practice field or even in moments in.
The games this year We've done we've had success and done,
good things and there has been efficient runs and there has. Been,
production okay it just hasn't been to the, level of,
you know being. Consistent ENOUGH and i believe in. THE
process i believe in what we're asking the guys, to
do and we're going to evolve and change. To do
(01:19:22):
we're not gonna ever ask a guy to do something
that we don't believe that they.
Speaker 11 (01:19:24):
Can.
Speaker 16 (01:19:24):
DO that i would never do that in. Any situation so,
you know the focus is on just playing, cleaner football being,
more consistent and if we can, Do that i'm confident
that you'll.
Speaker 2 (01:19:34):
SEE results i really am.
Speaker 4 (01:19:35):
All right two.
Speaker 5 (01:19:36):
Things here, NUMBER one i appreciate the brevity of your
answer and not giving us two and a half minutes, of. It,
DISSERTATION yeah i appreciate it said nothing? Is right and
what was your? Second thing the second Thing is i'm
not seeing?
Speaker 6 (01:19:47):
It, okay well and when he HERE'S how i always
am looking for keywords in this.
Speaker 4 (01:19:53):
For moments and on the. Practice, field hey we're doing
it on the. Practice field. That's awesome how about decide
the first thing gotta.
Speaker 6 (01:20:02):
Be cool but the first thing he said was we're
doing it on the practice which, You know i'm a,
big believer and if you, practice well you have tendency to.
Play well and teams that are bad. Practice teams eventually
it gets caught up to, you know the preparation and what.
You're expecting, you know don't be jumping, off sides, execute
this get on. Your block that's the only judge you
have going into. A game but how do? We practice we? Practice, well,
(01:20:22):
okay well AT least i feel good. Going in but as, you,
saw moments moments on the practice field and moments in
the game, went well everybody has moments in. The game
and then, he said the one thing we're just not doing,
it consistently. Sustaining it. That's football you play sixty five or,
seventy plays And in, texans case there's others that aren't.
Going well forty five. Forty six you ain't beating anybody
(01:20:44):
running forty, plays unless of course you scored on eight.
Of them and you've Got a, texans defense but they're
not good enough to do that right. Now OFFENSIVELY so
i dig DEEP when i listen to somebody, saying, it
yeah i'm. Practice field i'm sure you're executing because you
get to draw up the defense and you say here's
what they're, gonna play and you call up to attack.
That defense we don't draw up plays that we can't be.
Good at they just so you know when they put
(01:21:06):
their script and, cards together we're gonna run this play.
Speaker 4 (01:21:09):
Versus cover we'll run this one play. Number Nine but
i'm not really confident in.
Speaker 7 (01:21:12):
It.
Speaker 6 (01:21:12):
Yet, no, no, see now if you had the defensive
guy just dropped any coverage that the other team runs
and didn't tell you what they were running during. Scout
team then now. It's different but oh we're dialing. This up,
well yeah verse two deep inside zone's supposed. To work so,
point is at least if you're executing on, the practice
but it hasn't translated to the field and they're doing.
It moments moments get you a, First down moments doesn't
(01:21:35):
get you fourth quarter touchdowns the rest. Of it so
while he and he's got to, say, this listen he
sees it and, he says. The process who's that sound
like It's. A belichick it's. A process It's a. Sabin thing.
The process the key is the process is fine once
you start executing the process and put it. To work
but now you're game four against the team you. Should
beat you've got to see more than. Just moments you
(01:21:55):
got to see moments when you're not doing it as
opposed to moments are what you're leaning on when you don't.
Speaker 4 (01:22:00):
Do it, for moments.
Speaker 6 (01:22:01):
That's football but the problem is if you're leaning, into
moments that's that's just not Enough To ben as, we've
seen they haven't been good enough for executed well enough
offensively to quite frankly.
Speaker 4 (01:22:12):
Beat anybody at times.
Speaker 6 (01:22:13):
They have which has put him in with a chance
to win, games late but they have been able to
close out and those are the moments, you need and
unfortunately those moments haven't been there at the. Right time
there's always something going on that limits. You Offensively, all RIGHT.
Speaker 5 (01:22:25):
Maybe i didn't believe, him here BUT maybe i do
believe HIM because i don't think it's.
Speaker 4 (01:22:30):
His Fault and i'll explain once.
Speaker 5 (01:22:31):
We get into the eight. O'clock hour here it is a. Fight,
Song Friday Shawn, Salisbury Show sports talk Seven.
Speaker 1 (01:22:36):

absolutely yeah how do you not? Love him he's.
Speaker 4 (01:24:00):
The best. I'm huge we're pretty lucky with our local
coaches here to be doing what.
Speaker 5 (01:24:05):
They're doing so one of my really good friends' dad's just,
passed away and he was Teammates with Willy At pittsburgh State.
Speaker 4 (01:24:13):
AND Willie H pittsburgh Stake.
Speaker 6 (01:24:15):
In kansas it is Yea the gorillas and so it
has been a in, the past has been a hell of,
a program.
Speaker 4 (01:24:20):
No doubt and my friend's dad was a captain on
the team with Him And. Sam, pittman oh there you
go There At, pittsburgh state great offensive line TEACHER and,
uh coach a great head coach and.
Speaker 5 (01:24:30):
Coach coach fritz acknowledged and and had actually even met
up with my.
Speaker 4 (01:24:35):
Friend's dad Oh that's awes when he got. To TOWN
so i appreciate him. Doing that. Very rich he's a,
good man and he's and and they're they're gonna win
a lot.
Speaker 5 (01:24:42):
Of games he's a hell of a football coach going
all the.
Speaker 4 (01:24:44):
Way, back yeah it kind of has. A.
Speaker 6 (01:24:46):
FEELING now i don't know if they're ever going to
get to the point where they're Doing what kelvin's team
doing every ye where they're getting to the final four
and being in position to. Win ALL but i can tell, You,
this uh this is how. It starts this is how
you start to. Get people you don't lose the five
star recruit a bigger school and THEY say i want
to be a part, of this and it starts, to
grow and it starts, to grow and then there's a
culture not just in their building a college football there's
(01:25:07):
a culture in that Building how calvin feels you Know what,
i'm saying and with what they start, to produce and then, you,
SAY well i got to, keep up and then the
expectations rise for everybody And Everywhere willie fritz has been
he knows how to Win and we've Seen coach sampson do,
that TOO and i do believe they go hand in
hand because it's almost they becomes contagious in.
Speaker 4 (01:25:26):
The building you see it in cities all.
Speaker 6 (01:25:28):
The time one team wins the, world championship all, a
sudden the other team fields and before you, know it
the city's won two or three championships. That YEAR so, i,
think coach they'll go in there and play Well Against
oregon state and.
Speaker 4 (01:25:38):
They, say.
Speaker 5 (01:25:40):
Yeah you can start thinking about bigger goals than just
going to a, bowl game.
Speaker 6 (01:25:44):
And that'll be a that that'll be a tough one
next week because that teams and that team in the
next couple of years is gonna spid. So, much buddy
they're Gonna get, guys, Say Ooh texas tech's. REALLY good
i enjoy, watching, IT man, i DO and i enjoy
Watching coach fritz do.
Speaker 5 (01:25:56):
His thing wellbock's a, good town that's, for sure but
the tech underrated by the way it. Really is, you
know you go, out there it's a. Fun TIME so
i said that there are a couple of things that
Are Not nick. Kayley's, fault well the couple of things
are first and foremost his quarterback is gun shy.
Speaker 6 (01:26:12):
Right now he's. Shell shocked and you've seen, it first
more frantic in the pocket than he was as.
Speaker 4 (01:26:17):
A rookie, i mean first first play of, the game
first pass of. The game.
Speaker 5 (01:26:20):
You see so then you get people, out there, oh well, You,
know kaylee you. Know unimaginative why are you calling all these?
Underneath throws because he doesn't trust his quarterback?
Speaker 4 (01:26:28):
Right now.
Speaker 5 (01:26:29):
That's why because at least a handful of THROWS that
i can remember this year where he's had downfield throws that,
he led, his guy, overshot him whatever, it was and
then you go back and you see the replay. Of
it feet, are apart throwing off his, back foot sales,
on him either of.
Speaker 6 (01:26:45):
Those, things listen when you analyze it like you're doing, Right,
now dan there's there'll be some, who well you can
not allowed to criticize. The quarterback yeah? You can you
are we? All listen. You can't you can't Are you?
Stroud's talent you can't argue what he did as.
Speaker 4 (01:27:03):
A rookie it.
Speaker 6 (01:27:03):
Wasn't fake you can't do that for that many games
and be a. Fake SEASON but i can tell you it.
Is real when a quarterback starts to chase a ghost
and see things that. Aren't there regardless. Of, that, now
listen some are better. At it some can get the
hell kicked out of him and have a bad season
and it doesn't affect.
Speaker 4 (01:27:20):
Them mentally that's just a. Different cat. It HAPPENS and I.
Speaker 6 (01:27:23):
Think cj stroud is built FOR, the NFL and i
think he's. REALLY good i don't call it. A slump
i called a guy who right now is reeling and
needs needs a needs a couple good weeks of pure
pocket to get going back to, you know it's like
a hitter struggling what made go back? To basics and
he is and he needs to get back to. Basic
mechanics set in, his feet just keep keep his head
on the dog on coverage and take off the. Pass
(01:27:46):
rush and the word that you're going to get is
trust that somebody's going to finish at the. Receiving position
trust that you're going to, get protection because right now
he is going through. A feeling whether they admit it,
or not he's right now not the. Same player that
doesn't mean that same talent or he's not going to
be a, great player but he's missing STUFF. That cj
stroud absolutely didn't miss. And sad the Crazy thing i'm
(01:28:08):
watching even closer aside from, the Mechanics which i'm a
fanatic about that is is it misses aren't. Small misses
there's some, big misses like on stuff that, you, say
well that's our guy makes us so's all. The time
and you can start from the bottom up and the
bottom up for mechanics and the head down for the
mental belief and trust so and they got to meet
somewhere in the middle where he gets back to trusting
(01:28:30):
because you don't throw it like he throws it and
not be good. At it the problem is like a,
golf shot DUDE and i do a quarterback playing golf
to me are. So similar you can't be mad at
it and. Be successful, you also if you're mechanically unsound
that little circle in the middle of the golf club
did if you hit it too low on the face
or too high on, the face it comes, up short comes,
up high hit it on. The house it's the same.
(01:28:51):
With quarterback one little mechanical flaw with. Your feet ball
misses by, six inches that's a, tipball interception or it's
a ball that that doesn't hit the receiver or you
throw behind him and all those things he's, going through and, he, say.
Speaker 4 (01:29:03):
Well WHAT do, i?
Speaker 6 (01:29:04):
Do dude get back to going basics when you're, on
there hit just get back to square in, the club
face up and get back to square and your mechanics
up as. A quarterback and, quite frankly he's got to
get a little help from people getting open. And separation
there's a trust problem, going on whether they admit it.
Or not even maybe he's not trusting himself the way
he did as. A ROOKIE and i also think there's part. Of,
it dude he just dropped back and let it loose as,
(01:29:25):
a rookie maybe no expectations because they weren't supposed to.
Be GOOD and i think what happens we all. Do
it the more you do, something well the more. You
tinker and when you start, to tinker then, You're like
I've used i've used, Four, putters oh i've, My Mechanics
oh i've used this different. Arm angles get back to
doing what you did when you Were In. Rancho cucamonga
dude has just let it rip, Right RIGHT and i
(01:29:50):
think right now there's that there's that feeling. Of deceleration
for a guy who's, putting poorly you decelerate the deceleration
of just, drop back put to foot in the ground
and let it go and let's see. What happens because,
right now the result of overthinking it and over coaching
it and over analyzing it has put you in a point.
Of INDECISION and i can tell, you what there's no
more sports position in, the world no matter what, anybody
(01:30:13):
says there's no if you are. In, decision hell you
can be indecisive with a golf club and you, go
along but can still chip. It back when your indecisive
as a quarterback and, you hesitate you have.
Speaker 5 (01:30:21):
Zero shot and indecision leads to. Hospital BALLS and i
don't think he wants to be throwing hospital Balls To
nico collins and, anybody else because that's the other. Part
too two out of three weeks crippling, Turnovers crippling well
that you've had what do, we say two of them
fumbles and then two of them last WEEK C j
stroud getting.
Speaker 6 (01:30:39):
Picked off the, turnover game the rushing. Attempt game their
defense is getting off. The field for the, most part
they're making, you know, at times have.
Speaker 5 (01:30:49):
You stop Travis, etn well they ran fifteen more plays,
than us so eventually it was going.
Speaker 4 (01:30:53):
To happen, you think how many more series.
Speaker 6 (01:30:55):
That is that's five if you don't get a, first,
down right if you don't get a, First down so
whether it's the Come, to jesus but the Come to
jesus doesn't mean more uptight the Come. To jesus we're.
Owing three.
Speaker 4 (01:31:11):
We got to. Owing three?
Speaker 6 (01:31:12):
Overthinking it how about get to one, in three letting
it rip and see. What happens act like you're a.
Rookie again don't, overthink, it man play just play the
position because no matter what, you say you can have.
Great talent if the quarterback position, is faltering they re
bring the rest of the group. Into play when the
quarterback is, playing well everybody. Feeds it it's just at.
(01:31:33):
EVERY level i hate to say. That pressure and it's
NOT just cj the reason, they're struggling but everything in
this league is so. Quarterback driven if you're not, playing
well there's too many other things that have to happen
for your team to. Do WELL and cj is underachieving
this year even though their team, is too and it's
just part of it because we have expectations for a
(01:31:54):
guy who set the bar.
Speaker 4 (01:31:55):
Really high as. A, ROOKIE now i know some people,
out there what about the?
Speaker 5 (01:31:58):
OFFENSIVE line i look as an it's the free space
on your, bingo card because we know that that group is.
Not good despite their, best efforts they're. Not good and
the truth is is it gets going EVEN. If cj
stroud plays, great again which he will at SOME point
i believe in in.
Speaker 6 (01:32:14):
Big time this is. Not critical this is just fair
analysis of great. Last year there's no doubt we were
just not seeing enough. Of them the bottom line is
there is NO quarterback i know that can succeed and
sustain success in this league where the guys up front
aren't doing their job in the runner, Pass game eventually
it will catch kept up, to you catch up. To
you and the biggest detriment to this team over the
(01:32:36):
last three years has been the offensive lines inability to
not at times when but to dominate and good teams
do and right now this team's not. Doing it and
when you couple that with your best receiver laying the
ball on, the ground your depth is a. Little hurt at,
wide receiver you're, running back you're running games a. Little
hurt your defense is doing, their part but, on offense
there's a flaw everywhere offensively, right now and then you
(01:32:58):
get guys rushing the gap being able to pick up,
simple protections and then your quarterback struggling normally if, everything's,
going hey why but your quarterback's, Playing great you're still
in it. Right now none of it is like to
the point where, you say put it, this way there's
Not one pro bowler on offense.
Speaker 4 (01:33:12):
Right NOW and i know where.
Speaker 6 (01:33:14):
A lot but one of THE reason I Say pro
bowl is the guy that, you're like he's playing at
the highest level he's ever. Played at that that's not
happening offensively, right now and it's got to because the
defense will eventually you'll give up like you do seventeen
points and still.
Speaker 5 (01:33:27):
Get beat can't do. IT now i mean there have
been some. GOOD things i mean shown some. GOOD things
i think what, he, MARKS honestly i want what. He
mark he needs to. Play more he needs to catch
the ball. In space you need to get. More involved
forget the. Rookie thing he is a playmaker and a Football.
Playing jesse he's got to touch the. Ball more he.
Speaker 6 (01:33:44):
Just does but the problem is when nothing's, going well
it's heightened on. The quarterback but he's also not, above
criticism so when, he elevates you'll just naturally. See elevation
but it's hard to elevate when the rest. Isn't Happening
nick cayley needs to immerse himself intoading and immerse and
marks into more offensive football because he gives you more
(01:34:05):
Versatility that joe was giving you when he's in in the.
Speaker 4 (01:34:07):
Past game who do you, Tolerate more Harry hatchet ass
or Football. Playing, jesse oh.
Speaker 6 (01:34:12):
We'll see Harry hatchet ass is just a guy that,
you know, HEY man i just showed up and he's,
just like. We're Good, so Harry like harry hatch to
raise them. Morale, Yery yeah harry can just show up
and play because things. Are fine everything else around him.
IS good i Could plug Harry hatchet ass in and,
we'll win. Right bute but Football playing jesse is The
reason Harry hatchet ass, can play because if you're a Football,
(01:34:34):
playing jesse you're like perfect description of Football playing jesse is. Like,
scataboo yeah that's A Football miles garrett is a Football playing.
Jesse man that's what He Uh pokin naka is a Football.
Playing jesse that's The guys i'm. Talking about that's, exactly
right and you'd like.
Speaker 5 (01:34:51):
To have more, of those And the texans definitely.
Speaker 4 (01:34:53):
Need them.
Speaker 5 (01:34:53):
All right we Got, two john's we got al we
got a few. Spots open if you want to get
in someone three two one two five, seven ninety you
can seven one three two one two five. Seven, ninety
also could it be a little bit of a fork
in the road For the texans, this season and for
reasons that you might, not like we'll. Discuss Here Shawn,
Salisbury Show sports talk.
Speaker 4 (01:35:13):
Seven ninety.
Speaker 1 (01:35:15):
Let the celebration Start War, Sewn salisbury It's A sewan.
Speaker 11 (01:35:20):
Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (01:35:48):
Sean, Salisbury's Show Flight, Song Friday sports talk. Seven ninety
it is not going well At beth page, right NOW
and i emphasize that it is not going well well.
Speaker 4 (01:36:00):
Right now nine.
Speaker 6 (01:36:01):
Holes In ludwig Oldberg And matt fitzpatrick Are destroying Scheffler.
And henley through nine they're up four McElroy, and fleetwood
which this was a mismatch. Going now i'm telling, You
What harris english will hit. It close he's a. Good
player Colin mor cow has got to step his game.
Up right he won't see another foursome or a. Four
ball they're down five through. Eight holes McIntyre and hovelin
(01:36:25):
are down One to Shafflan, And cantley Rom And terrell
hatton are Over to Shamba. And thomas they're one up
on heading Into what they're, through ten so they're. On
eleven so two of them are. In play but the
big time guys And the scheffler number one in, The
World mori cow is the top ten in, The World
(01:36:46):
hex schawfle is one of the best players in.
Speaker 4 (01:36:48):
The world is A.
Speaker 6 (01:36:49):
Top i mean other than, their group the two in
the middle that you expect to. Play better even Though
more coyle hasn't had a, Good Year harris english, Is
solid Scheffler and henley are getting their ass handed, to
him and McElroy and fleetwood are hitting.
Speaker 5 (01:37:01):
Everything close you get skunked in, the morning that's. Not
good then this is Done by. Sunday, Morning, yeah well
if you get skunked in, the morning don't. Come Back
more cow will. Not SEE like, i said if he
doesn't start picking. This up he's Had a when You
change caddy's, five years you're little or five times or
six times.
Speaker 4 (01:37:16):
Any year you're a.
Speaker 6 (01:37:17):
Little, indecised now he's a, great player he has not
had a good Year and xander has not had a.
Speaker 4 (01:37:22):
Good year they've got to pick.
Speaker 6 (01:37:23):
It Up, but scheffler this is all too Familiar with
ludwig on the, other team and they are pummeling them.
Right now they've got to start making.
Speaker 5 (01:37:31):
Some, putts yeah us down three matches to one. Right
now the only One is Sean Mentioned xander Schoffle And
patrick can'tley in Front of robert McIntyre And. Victor howlin
not feeling good about, that one especially with one guy
they have in. That group we've Been talking stros they
won yesterday eleven. To five they Get the angels, this
Weekend talking, Texans TOO and i know a lot of
(01:37:51):
you want to get in. On that seven, one three
two one two five. Seven nine you get fired up.
This morning john on the, Northwest side, Good, Morning john oh.
Speaker 1 (01:37:59):
Good man on and then, Listen. HERE sean i hope
you had a.
Speaker 12 (01:38:03):
Nice vacation this has been eaten up at me the
previous two seasons and even into these. Three games you
WERE an. NFL quarterback i watch. You play you can
speak on this more. Than anybody why in the world
is these coaches not teaching this boy how to kill
(01:38:27):
or get him off.
Speaker 4 (01:38:29):
The field stroud is.
Speaker 12 (01:38:30):
Getting kill he been getting killed the last two Seasons
because shuks is not making an effort To block. Kip
nothing he runs out there to catch the ball and
all we see is the same defender on his side That's, sacking,
stroud man and then he's gonna go over there And
give stroud fired like everything is, all good while these
(01:38:52):
coaches still letting. This happen this happened under the previous
two seasons under the same under THE other, o season
and it's still happening now under this oc that is
supposed to be some kind of tight. End guru and,
more importantly the offensive. BEHIND coach i know these coaches
see this. On film why are they not? Stopping it
(01:39:14):
and it's kb by design to get your. Quarterback kill
if if the kid is not gonna chip there in what,
he's doing get him off. The field explain that, to,
me Man because i'm distinct killing. Me Man so i'm
gonna hang up. AND listen i don't have a, nice day, All?
Speaker 6 (01:39:31):
RIGHT John, I uh i think part of it is you're.
You're right when you're an offensive line coach and a
coordinator and you're in this league and you're you're IN,
the nfl you have a pretty good idea at least.
Why now the question is why it's, happening now how you?
Fix it and the problem is this is going to
be a bummer, TO say i just don't know if
(01:39:52):
they're good enough to. Fix that that that that that
would be talented enough the, offensive line but that doesn't
mean they don't have, good players but as an overall
group where they're still reeling, right now and it's another,
new coordinator offensive line coach as you're but you see
other teams ad. Just quicker here's the problem is also
he's and. He's, Right OKAY so i. THINK different i
(01:40:13):
don't think go minimal protection and then we'll work our
way up to. MAX protect i go the. OTHER way
i got to make sure our quarterback's. Protected first then
then we'll filter down before we get to the point
where we're. Really GOOD then i can run five man
protections and we'll. Be fine i'll get guys out Clean
and i'll SCAP prot i don't need a chipper on.
The web this team right now needs all the help
(01:40:35):
it can GET because i can just tell you protections
and understanding protections is an offensive line and, a quarterback
but also maximizing whatever talent. You have and if that
means you've got to max protect or keep a tight
end in and a back in to chip or keep
them in longer to allow your quarterback to make two
and three man receiver where you can't get four and,
five out then that's where it's got. To start and
(01:40:56):
the quarterback also has to understand protections and how you're
directing to make sure where the free runners are. Coming
from the, problem is it's not just, free runners it's
simplistic protections that are that are given way at times
and propressure in, your quarterback which that comes down to
me vers you dan and if you're better, than me and,
that's me then HOW can i do that to? Three
(01:41:17):
guys you can't you. Can't chip you can't chip, a guard.
You can't you don't. Chip inside once, you're inside you're there.
To stay you can chip the, outside guys you don't chip.
Inside guys so that means once back stays and got
to stay in and they don't want to get. The,
GUYS wait i mean. There is it's not, just talent
it's also understanding how to do it right and what
we're trying to. Get accomplished but it all gets back
down To what. John's saying the foundation for any great
(01:41:40):
offensive team is those five cats. Up front and it's
not just how good. They are it's the protection schemes
and how you use them at the. Right time but
you also just got to be able to block. Base
protection and that's a problem here the last two years the.
BASE stuff i got five to, BLOCK four i. GOTTA
win i just. GOTTA win. I can't now you got
six to. Block five then the quarterbacks got to find
(01:42:03):
the unblock guy and get the ball out on a
side adjustment or a hot read and we got. To
go the problem is they're not doing it. All together
and then you get, to play say we got to
max protect a four or five man RUSH and i
only get two. Man route that's, a problem. That's right
and then when when ONE guy i can double the
other guy by rolling covers, that way and THEN so
i gotta find somebody else that can. Dominate it right
(01:42:24):
now that that somebody else has either been hurt or,
hasn't elevated so it's like the cumulative effect though from
an offensive line that's been subpar for two, straight years is. A,
PROBLEM well i mean That's Why caatee stover was.
Speaker 4 (01:42:36):
DRAFTED too i mean was for that.
Speaker 5 (01:42:38):
Very reason and when it Comes To dalton schultz his
play on, the field.
Speaker 6 (01:42:41):
They've lost their two most physical tight ends, to injury
and he's He's Like.
Speaker 5 (01:42:44):
Jesus sanchez but as a, football, player enough, Like enough i've.
Speaker 4 (01:42:48):
Seen enough, All, right fine he can catch. The, Ball
great that's that's.
Speaker 5 (01:42:51):
That's to be locking me and YOU because I mean
i go back to that Play and i've mentioned it
numerous times because it was a just absolute prime examp
of why is the play that he had where he
was in position to get a first down and he's
trying to do a hurdle job and he gets a
rosencopter where it's you're a tight end going up against,
defensive backs LOWER your dm shoulder and get.
Speaker 6 (01:43:11):
Through ONE and i want you to figure this out,
for anybody whether you're the, play caller as.
Speaker 4 (01:43:15):
No Excuse nick cayley's got to figure. It out that's.
Speaker 6 (01:43:17):
His job that's why it gets paid as an offensive
quarter he and the offensive line coach have to figure
out scheme wise to. Give, them well it may not
be the best chance to, score thirty the best chance
to keep your quarterback, up right and then the quarterback
has to elevate on knowing where protections and he and
the center understanding where to. Direct them so you're giving
yourself the best chance. Each play easier said, than done but.
(01:43:38):
This team can you imagine and you think about any job,
you do coming in before you turn on, a mic
before you open up a sales, meeting room before you
make a decision on a, financial decision you're. An investment
imagine going. Into that think, About, it dan and going
in and right off knowing that YOU are i don't
(01:44:01):
want to say understaff that you are at a disadvantage.
Going in so if you're for some, of THOSE then
i don't even. Do it what would be the human
nature of a quarterback that is going in, and realizing
whether he admits it, or not going in because he's
playing like, he's like. There's confusion he is doesn't mean he's,
not good but he's playing.
Speaker 4 (01:44:20):
Like it but it's a.
Speaker 6 (01:44:21):
Cumulative effect imagine going into that every time you break,
a huddle wandering in past protection or even in the. Run,
game man we're at a disadvantage going in what do you? Naturally,
do oh head's going around That position, like golf your
head can't move when you take the club away. Your
head the only way your head should be moving as
(01:44:41):
a quarterback is through, your progressions not the back of
an offensive line's, jersey number because you don't know if
that guy or they're going to be sound enough to.
Speaker 5 (01:44:50):
Protect it CJ's got enough to, think about and that's half. The,
problem yeah because you're seeing it, play out and in
fairness to, EVERYBODY. Else cj stroud's not playing like the
second pick of the draft three. Years ago he's playing
like a guy that you're. Still wondering whereas if you
didn't see his, rookie year you'd be wondering if he's
your quarterback of.
Speaker 6 (01:45:07):
The future you saw. THE rookie i know he's the
quarterback of, the future but we can't keep. Saying that
he's still got. To elevate so part of it is.
Speaker 5 (01:45:13):
On him it's completely flipped between Him And. Bryce young
Like Now bryce young looks like the guy that you
thought he was going to.
Speaker 4 (01:45:19):
Look like AND.
Speaker 5 (01:45:20):
C j stroud looks like the guy that people worried
that he was going to, look like.
Speaker 4 (01:45:24):
Right and you AND. C j stroud's talented enough to get.
Speaker 6 (01:45:27):
It back but there's a lot that goes into this
position that just isn't what we see dropping back in the,
you know, you know guy's open throat, to him but
there's a there is a big difference in the way
he was missing as a rookie and the way he's.
Missing now it's the old am small miss small mentality of.
A sniper his misses are bigger, than normal which tells
(01:45:47):
me mechanical flaws are. In play you see what the
guy At the University of. Texas too he's going through
some mechanical flaws as well as a.
Speaker 4 (01:45:55):
Lot do but If he texas fans would tell you
fixed it, last week well just.
Speaker 6 (01:45:58):
Ask, Him, okay well then the competition's gonna WE'LL see,
I Hope so florida's gonna, SHOW you. I. Hope so
so it just for me is there's, right now everything
that you could ask for not to happen on offense.
Is happening at some point. In time you just got
to go in with a smaller. Game plan limit the big,
game plan but make sure you know motions and formations and.
(01:46:20):
All that but limit the game plan and execute what
you do well and see if, that's enough because it
doesn't mean putting. In more it means executing what. You
got less. Is more when it comes, to confusion limit
the confusion because the pre snap confusion is a huge
problem on.
Speaker 4 (01:46:35):
This, Team, offensively john and now we'll work.
Speaker 5 (01:46:37):
You in you want to join them someone three two
and two five SEVEN ninety a. Defensive problem that's that
fork in. The road we'll, discuss That Plus aaron wilson
going to join us top of. Next hour we got
a lot still to work. Through here On The Sean
salisbury show On A Fight, Song Friday sports talk.
Speaker 6 (01:46:52):
SEVEN ninety i am a, dip guy, You say sean
will kind, OF well i can tell you what kind
Of daisy french onion dip in the daisy ranch DIP now.
I am i'm like the finger food, appetizer chips, you
know throw a fredo in their chips to get. The
dips sometimes to the point on college game day Or during.
Speaker 4 (01:47:12):
Saturday and studies get up put.
Speaker 6 (01:47:13):
The spread it always has The daisy french onion dip

their first win of the. Regular seasons, someone three two and,
two five seven ninety is. The number we Go from
john on The northwest side To Just john john.
Speaker 7 (01:49:37):
Good MORNING actually I was john on The.
Speaker 11 (01:49:39):
NORTHWEST side i was the.
Speaker 1 (01:49:41):
Original one but there.
Speaker 4 (01:49:42):
You go well you can, have it.
Speaker 8 (01:49:46):
No, problem yeah, You know i'm just gonna Reiterate what
i've been saying. ALL along, I MEAN i i just
DON'T get i Blame the texans problems like ninety percent.
ON management i don't know what The Heck nick cassio's
been doing with these. Draft picks i've been very disappointed
in the drafting and the free agents what he's. Been doing,
(01:50:06):
and uh, you know like to Look At. Kansas city
they learned their lesson In The super bowl back when
they when they lost It to tampa because, you know
they lost their TWO interior i think it was their
guards going into, that game and, You know mahomes couldn't.
Do ANYTHING and i Don't blame stroud at all for
a lot of. This stuff, you know any quarterback that
takes the beating he's, been taken they're all they're all
(01:50:29):
going to get. Happy feed it doesn't matter who. They
are and, you know you look At What kansas. City's
done they really value the. Offensive Line they've They've Signed
tray smith to ninety, Four Million creed humphrey nine seventy,
two million and then you know on the, Defensive Side
chris jones gets one hundred and fifty. Eight million but
they know they know where the. Value is you got
you can't do anything without a good, offensive line and
(01:50:51):
we have not been doing anything to shore. That up
the only time we ever had a decent offensive line
was back in twenty twelve when we were twelve, and four,
you know and we lost the whole right side the,
next Year And arian foster got the heck beat out
of him the, next year running over four hundred times
and he was never the same. After that but but,
You Know kansas city has it. Figured out, you know
(01:51:11):
LAST year i wanted us to Get Like, stanley staley
the guy That the ravens end, up.
Speaker 4 (01:51:17):
Signing Like, ronnie stanley, Their Tackle.
Speaker 8 (01:51:20):
Ronnie stanley, Excuse Me. Ronnie stanley, you're Right It's. Ronnie
STANLEY and, i, JUST uh i. DON'T know i don't
know why we don't get it because we don't place.
Any value we don't put any, money there and that's
where we. Should be, and UH can i make a
quick comment on?
Speaker 6 (01:51:34):
The?
Speaker 4 (01:51:34):
Rock yes? Go, ahead, okay.
Speaker 8 (01:51:38):
Yeah okay so you Know if Fred, van fleet it Seems. Like,
boston uh, you know they've got some cat problems And
there's i've been hearing rumors of a case for a
trade where we Could Get, derek White the rockers have to,
give up, you know probably a wealth of draft picks
and maybe, you know Somebody Like reed shepherd. Or SOMETHING
but i, don't KNOW but i think it would be
(01:51:58):
something worth. GETTING to i think it actually be a
little bit of an Upgrade.
Speaker 7 (01:52:03):
From.
Speaker 8 (01:52:03):
Van Fleet but i'd like to See the rockets make
a move to get a significant point guard because. THAT'S everything, I,
mean oklahoma, that's there that's the key. To them, you
know they got probably the best young point guard in
the in the league right NOW And, SA anyways i
just want to make, those comments, you know both On
the texans and and just, you know the trade rumors
With the rockets what to do about the point. Guard
(01:52:25):
Situation so i'll hang up.
Speaker 7 (01:52:27):
And listen thank, You Guys, thanks john.
Speaker 4 (01:52:29):
THANK you i.
Speaker 6 (01:52:30):
Can listen if you do not value the offensive line
as much as you value. THE quarterback i know that
sounds crazy you when, you, Say, well sean you got
to get of course. You do, but listen, great quarterback
bad offensive line equal. Average quarterback great, offensive line average
quarterback equal. Better quarterback you have to place the same
(01:52:52):
value and it can't be. You can't you can't piece
meal you try to piece meal is to save it
when you're nine games in and. Three injuries, the COMMITMENT
and I Think nick cassira has done a hell of
a job, drafting players but it is there there buy
in to make AN over i don't even if it's
an over commitment overpay. At times that, offensive line it
has to be addressed because they are not a. Championship
(01:53:15):
offense they're. Just not they're not close to being a.
Championship offense and you won't be close to being a
championship offense Even if stroud's playing LIKE an mvp and
the receivers are back unless the offensive line is the. Domin,
that LISTEN when I, say detroit.
Speaker 4 (01:53:31):
What do you say? Offensive LINE when I, say philly
what do you say? Offensive line when you Usually, say
baltimore what do? You say? Same deal when you Say,
the texans what do? You, SAY no, i mean, it's
not it's, it's not. It's not it's not.
Speaker 6 (01:53:47):
By chance why do you Think the vikings went out
and committed what they do the offensive line? THIS offseason
i mean you have. To Have the chiefs have Lost
Two super bowls largely because the front seven on the
other team.
Speaker 4 (01:53:58):
Dominated, them Yeah both Tampa and phil In Those.
Speaker 5 (01:54:00):
Super bowls and it's not a question of effort or
priority or anything. Like that has those guys want to
play hard. And, win no they just saw it from
the draft in the way that they handled their moves last.
Off season it's just the PROBLEM is i don't trust
the guy that's in charge of making those moves with
being able to find guys that can make meaningful impact
on that on that.
Speaker 6 (01:54:18):
Position group it went in out from. Here forward, find,
dogs dude it. Doesn't Matter the effort's one thing you.
Told me those guys don't want. To win, of course
the offensive. Line one and they want to stay in.
The lead of course. They do the problem is it's
just that they're as, a group the sum is not.
Very GOOD and i don't think when you Play the
texans you're worried about. That position matter, OF fact i
(01:54:40):
think you can. Exploit it that's how, people are and
they are and it's unfortunate because they get most of
the blame and the collateral damage affects. The rest but you,
know what can't lay the ball down when you got
to catch and fumble the ball in the. Red zone
you can't kill you if you're if you're coming out to,
the kid that's. Exactly right and, then everybody and the
truth is we ask every quarterback in every city to
do what elevate when things. Aren't good you just there's
(01:55:02):
just this natural to make your. Receivers better That's What tom.
Brady did don't we hear it all?
Speaker 7 (01:55:07):
The?
Speaker 6 (01:55:07):
Time, Yes right so if we're Gonna Say drew, brees
did if we're, gonna, Say well lamar's got to elevate
his Players Or josh allen or anybody else.
Speaker 4 (01:55:16):
The same.
Speaker 6 (01:55:16):
As Here so, john said he Isn't blamed steget there's
still he's not, voided criticism but he is at a
disadvantage because going into, every game the defensive front is
usually about i'd say nine out of, ten times so
when they're playing the defensive front seven is usually better
than the offensive line that we're throwing.
Speaker 4 (01:55:36):
Out there That's What peyton manning.
Speaker 5 (01:55:38):
Did, well yeah he Also in indy Had two Hall
of famers and also a really good tight end and
then inde and differ.
Speaker 4 (01:55:45):
In a pretty.
Speaker 6 (01:55:46):
Various Times, jeff saturday it's a pretty. Good, play yeah,
they were, so listen it all goes hand. In hand
but the focus. Her team when you build the offensive
line in the interior year, defense first the rest usually
falls into place because they've they've look at they're Gonna
give bryce and you mentioned him just it's giving him
a little. More protection they're playing. Better football they just
(01:56:06):
they they Boat raced atlanta. Last week he's got some
he's got a he's like a, football savant he. Really
is and now the talent started. To come they're starting to,
build it but you got to build it. Inside out
until the offensive line Of the texans is a is
ay where you go in and you say they're the
best unit on. The field when you Start doing philadelphia,
every week they feel like they're the best unit on.
The field, detroit saying look What they they Man handled
(01:56:30):
baltimore's front seven to the Point, of baltimore we're looking,
at now the way they played that they're A soft.
Speaker 4 (01:56:34):
Detroit's problem you're damn right.
Speaker 6 (01:56:36):
They are and they they man had the restaur almost
two and a quarter or whatever, it was man. Handle
them and it wasn't like the. Lucky knockout that's The
ones i'm. Talking that they body blowed them. To death
and they they they dismantled their.
Speaker 5 (01:56:48):
Front seven that's that's the score is not indicative of
what the.
Speaker 6 (01:56:51):
Story was that wasn't as close as. The Game and
baltimore's really. Damn good so when we go into a
game and the last thing you're talking about, is well
when you don't even have to mention the, offensive line
you know that they're the best unit on. The field
that's what most of The time Detroit and philadelphia are
going through And usually baltimore's, offensive front not. Defensive front
(01:57:12):
that's one of the bigger weaknesses going in the league.
Right now it's going To prevent baltimore's their. Defensive front
so but until you build it, like that it's going
to be a problem For.
Speaker 4 (01:57:20):
The texans it.
Speaker 5 (01:57:21):
Just Is peyton manning won That Final super bowl Because
Of gary, kubiak saying we have to run. The football
this guy can't do. It well it goes to the
fact that here's one Of the Gulf.
Speaker 6 (01:57:29):
Te peyton almost did It With, drew brees, no doubt
one of the all, time greats and he was limited
in what he could. Do physically and it goes back
TO what, i said great, offensive line average, quarterback play quarterback,
plays better, you know good enough's good enough. To win
great quarterback play with a bad offensive line equals average
quarterback equals you don't. Win championships and that's Where the
(01:57:50):
texans are. RIGHT now i will work.
Speaker 4 (01:57:52):
You in you want to?
Speaker 5 (01:57:52):
Join them, someone, three, two, one, two five seven. To
ninety could a defensive problem arise For the texans and
maybe their? Entire Team Discuss Shawn, Salisbury Show sports talk seven.
Speaker 4 (01:58:02):
To ninety.
Speaker 1 (01:58:04):
Buckle Up The Shawn salisbury. Show continues it's gonna be.
Speaker 15 (01:58:09):
A hell.
Speaker 4 (01:58:25):
Firing you up for the weekend Fight.
Speaker 5 (01:58:26):
Song Friday Here Sean, Salisbury Show sports talk seven ninety
about five minutes away from our Good Buddy aaron wilson
joining us for his Weekly visit Stros, in anaheim taking
On the a's Or the angels after they Beat the
a's and you're Gonna Get Jason Alexander tonight astros on
deck coming your waist seven thirty And The ryder. Cup
again it's not. Going WELL the us is up. And
(01:58:48):
one the problem Is the euros are up in. Three
others they're four up and four up and two of
them and two up in. Another one so it's not.
Speaker 6 (01:58:58):
Going well and in that one In The Oberg, Fitzpatrick Scheffler.
Henley russell henley flew the green into the Rough and
ludwig hit it to about eight feet And Then harris
english just blew one by to win, the hole which
is a little bit of a tester. Coming back so
(01:59:18):
it is a it's a struggle right now FOR. The
us and then you're talking in danger zone because the
way that Mcelroyan and fleetwood are throwing balls at. The,
flagstick dude they have five birdies THEMSELVES and i think
the rest OF the us teams total have like seven. Birdies,
already yeah they they're gonna.
Speaker 7 (01:59:38):
Have to pick.
Speaker 5 (01:59:39):
This, up yeah not good. For sure better have better.
Afternoon golf let's continue it on the. Phone lines al
on the, South side, Good, Morning.
Speaker 4 (01:59:46):
Al.
Speaker 7 (01:59:49):
Hey, Good Morning.
Speaker 15 (01:59:50):
Hey sean great to. Be beg i'm gonna hit you
with a couple of days and get your Takeover and
i'll be quick shout Out to john The. First john
he kind of HIT what i was trying, to say
just removed amazes me to See That nick caserio with
This new england. COMMODITY out i don't, get, it man
but that's neither here.
Speaker 16 (02:00:11):
Or.
Speaker 15 (02:00:11):
There there we've been watching this team. FOR years i
ain't just a fad STARTED.
Speaker 7 (02:00:15):
Watching.
Speaker 15 (02:00:15):
Tj stroup first, Of, all sean we've been having a
problem with tackling for the LAST folk cj. Got here,
you know a lot of these GAMES. C j stroud
have kept him in due to, a fumble the Pullback
And nico collins dropping. That ball these couple of games
could have been. Actually won even in the middle of,
all this he ain't looking. At it the reason, all
this he always gonna put you in the position. To
(02:00:38):
win it ain't like we've been blowed out the. Whole
time so what that, Tells, me seun you bring a
guy in From, the rams never. CALL plays, I, mean
sean let me ask. You this when you get it
with a, young quarterback you got to have somebody with
a quarterback pedigree on. The team no one on that.
Coaching staff domico can't ELEVATE. C. J stroup this guy
(02:01:00):
can't sit in the ROOM. With cj strout and point
Out To peyton Manning the eras and All The New,
England Patriers, tom brady nick k he don't know nothing about.
A quarterback so you LOOKING. For cj strott to elevate
this is his second year plus. Three games what are we.
Talking about he's trying to find. His Way and i'm
gonna tell, you This and i'm gonna, Hang. UP sean
i don't care If You peyton Manning Or, tom brady
(02:01:22):
you cannot. Play authanized we're not talking about our school And.
Probably warner you got to have an, Offensive, line john
they had max perfection on one of. The, guys ersay
they had max three guys on, that side and the
guys here both ween GOT the, Cj strout you got
erthe in the, wrong position. His position he's then they
say the other side of this. Wrong side it's too
(02:01:44):
much mixing and matching with your. Offensive line but the
death you had two guys on the. Offensive line.
Speaker 11 (02:01:49):
They left he.
Speaker 15 (02:01:50):
Got paid we don't spend the money on the. Offensive
LINE and i don't care what. You Say. It's sean
it's the offensive line THAT Makes nfl. Quarterbate elevate can't
do it.
Speaker 7 (02:02:00):
With that it's, like.
Speaker 4 (02:02:01):
Nobody, ALL right i appreciate.
Speaker 6 (02:02:04):
It out that's BASICALLY what i Said after, john called
is that if you don't invest, in it and that
doesn't put it, this way you will shrink a good
quarterback with poor offensive. Line play you will take a
good quarterback and make him far better with great offensive.
LINE play i think that's the obvious elephant in the
room that. Everybody KNOWS and i can tell you the
(02:02:24):
hardest thing to do on a team is to create
physicality if if it's not there right during during during,
a season it's the hardest thing to all of a
sudden wake up a month into the scene, and, say
hey we're going to decide to get. Physical now that
puts even more pressure on a rookie play caller who
is still trying.
Speaker 4 (02:02:43):
To learn how to.
Speaker 6 (02:02:44):
Call plays when the quarterback's got, more expensive more, more
expensive more experience running plays than the guy does. Calling
them that's a. Hard Nothing And nick calee's been in
the league a, long time but it's. Still there there's a,
learning curve and unfortunately they're not good enough to wait
on a learning curve, right now and he's going to
Have to and then now he's got to, Worry, about
(02:03:05):
okay HOW do i dial up my play calling to
fit the guys up front to at least give us.
Speaker 4 (02:03:10):
A chance AND like, i said.
Speaker 6 (02:03:12):
Going in, each week the biggest weakness they have is
how are they going to protect and move the pile
in the run game and protect. Their quarterback BUT like,
i said it's not just it's unfair to just put everything,
on them because there has been sacks that have BEEN.
On cj stroud as well and hits to. The, Quarterbacks
you so it goes. Both ways but your foundation of
your team has to be those guys. Up front if,
(02:03:34):
it's not eventually you will. Wear out whether even if they. Played,
well now if the offensive line isn't good and then they're,
not physical it's hard to create physicality in the middle
of a season and execution at the. Same time the
offensive line sustains you and gives you a chance to win.
Tough games bad offensive lines give you a chance to.
Speaker 4 (02:03:50):
Lose them every.
Speaker 5 (02:03:51):
Week at nine, o'clock hour we hit up our, Good
Buddy aaron wilson will do that right here On The Sean.
Speaker 4 (02:03:56):
Salisbury Show sports talk seven TO Ninety AB.
Speaker 1 (02:04:00):
Houston Atvhd, two Houston an iHeart, radio Station the Astross,
The rockets rockets your home for your. Home teams This
Is sports talk seven.
Speaker 10 (02:04:12):
Ninety From the Parsons And Matchine, Next Studios.
Speaker 5 (02:04:17):
Texans INSIDER for us here at, seven ninety but also
to does some WORK with. Kprc two aaron, appreciate. It
buddy let's just go ahead and get it started off,
here offensively and we played the Cut From nick kyley
earlier of seen some. Good things awesome guys are doing
some good things in. Certain spots but overall do you
feel like he's maybe just trying to tell himself that
(02:04:39):
or are we actually seeing some good?
Speaker 4 (02:04:40):
THINGS offensively.
Speaker 7 (02:04:44):
I think he's just trying to. STAY positive i think
a lot. Of this, you know when people go to,
the podium, you know you have to think about what
you're training, for media how do you approach? These SITUATIONS
and i, would say, you know coming From The New
old patriots and also just football coaches, in general if
he goes up there and he starts ripping, his guys
(02:05:04):
obviously he'll lose, his players lose the. Locker ROOM and
i Don't think Nick Is sarity grant would like that. At, all,
so yeah he has to maintain a unified. Positive front
and he's also a rookie, offensive coordinator so what has he?
Done before he's been a good. Assistant coach this is.
Entirely different it's like someone hasn't driven a. Car before
(02:05:28):
you just you're, out there you're learning on. The job And,
FOR kaylee i don't think he Like Just. GICANTINK gaffs i,
WOULD say i don't think the personnel really fits the
scheme he's trying, To run if that. Makes sense he's
trying to do something and it's really it hasn't adapted
to not having a a very good offensive line and
(02:05:50):
not much of a. Running game who scares you On
the texans offense if you're the opposing. Defensive coordinator Nobody
Just Nico. KYLE well, i Mean, like nico, Doesn't it,
but yeah no. One else there's no one else that you, Can,
say man that's. A threat if we don't stop him
or account, for him we're losing this game and we
(02:06:13):
might get. BLOWN out, I. Mean cj strade is still a.
COMPETENT quarterback i would say he's been deeply affected by
lack of open receivers and an offensive line that's, now
struggling and it could be. EVEN worse i think maybe
some of what you're hearing. FROM him i think the
(02:06:34):
most interesting thing he probably said was that we're not
just copy Pasting the. Patriots offense that was an, interesting, comments.
Speaker 4 (02:06:42):
Right you?
Speaker 6 (02:06:43):
Know What, and AARON when I say Nico cons i'm
talking about when things aren't, going well nobody scares and
when they're, going good that's the guy you have to,
take away. No doubt so let me go back, to
this and this may be a difficult one. To answer
then why why If You're, demico ryans why GO get
i know the background of new ing in, the rams
but why go get a rookie play caller after you
(02:07:03):
just left with the second year of play caller didn't?
Hit it you got were fortunate when he was a rookie.
Play caller why not go the opposite and go get
a veteran that you don't have to start all? Over
again why? Do it almost feels what's, not ancestual but
you know like, it's family and it is because Of
the fdnina, Ramps familiarity but sometimes you got to step outside.
(02:07:25):
The box they got a guy who was going to
have to learn on, the job and that's not what.
You want why EVEN though I Think nick cayley can.
Be good, right now it feels like, they're swimming but
your if their feet are moving one hundred miles an
hour like a water polar person under.
Speaker 7 (02:07:37):
The water, you know it was The Whole nick cassara
recommendation and his Background with sean mcsay, different systems just created.
Some appeal interviewed, very well is very smart and, you
know be just a very, good person high. Character guy
he made a. Great impression he had his, own ideas and, they,
(02:08:00):
thought well can he take us the? NEXT level a
lot of, it too like when you, interview anybody what
impression they leave? With you and then, sometimes though you
got to go back like what you're talking about, and,
say well what else is? Out there so they met
with someone that's highly experienced In chip kelly and ship
wanted an exorbitant amount. Of money they never even even
got really very far down the, road like oh. They're
(02:08:21):
outbid it's just like A. Brief chad it didn't seem
like he was. Going anywhere he was interested in the,
raiders rights interested. In him he got, six million which
is a crazy amount of money FOR. An oc but
they were going with someone they thought was up. And
coming he still may be up. And coming it's not
like all of a sudden everything he did that's out.
The WINDOW what i think they got To do sewan
(02:08:44):
is they've got to be able to hang INTO The
Afc south race while he learns on. The job and
the way he is is off a tworter four games
in is not the same as he'll be ten twelve.
Weeks in it's the hope for them in. The building
and you know some of these things, they do like
throwing it short of sticks or not getting out of.
(02:09:06):
THE huddle, i mean so these things. Are fixable you
can tangibly change your style if, You're HIM and i
think he's catching on to that because he's saying some
things in the press conference that they're, TELLING me i,
get it we're not doing that. Well ENOUGH so i
know there are trying to address to that behind the
scenes tangibly to actually fix some of. The stuff but
(02:09:26):
it's a lot of things to fix all.
Speaker 1 (02:09:27):
At.
Speaker 7 (02:09:27):
Once yep and this offense is a mess. Right NOW
but i don't think that, they're hopeless right is my
greatest takeaway, From.
Speaker 4 (02:09:36):
It especially as a rookie.
Speaker 6 (02:09:37):
Play caller all, the stuff when you got to, fix
that it's hard to focus on the one thing you
need to do is get your team offensively in the
right play on a. Regular, basis okay so let me ask,
you then at, this stage heading into, game four what's
better for them to expand to get more production or
to simplify to get.
Speaker 7 (02:09:55):
More production simplify and it really needs to be as simple.
As this stop bunching up. The receivers these uh three
guys all standing near each. Other drifting that's got to.
Get correct and that was one of the things that
came up yesterday during the. Press conference that's kind of obvious,
to everybody, you know you. See it these guys are all,
(02:10:16):
close together so you gotta have. More spacing you can't
all just be standing next to. Each other that basically makes.
Everybody Covered now, it's like if you're gonna run away
from uh people are, chasing you would you all run
in the. Same direction now you'd spun out. You need
it's kind of the same concept there on offense running
(02:10:40):
you can't abandon. The run you can't just. Stop running
you've got to still attempt to run. THE football i
think that's something they got away from too much this
past week because, To me Chubb and marks still have.
Some upside there's some yards and THOSE guys i agree
with Not Having damian pierce out there or Not Playing. Drigoga,
(02:11:01):
walle yeah they've shown you what they're gonna, be LIKE
and i think they ignore the tight end. Too Much
dalton schultz is playing pretty. Good football let him get some.
More targets if they're they're All, over nico throw it
to the. TIGHT end i thought last week was just
a knockoff the rust Week For. Christian kirk but there's
probably something there that they can tap into to get
(02:11:25):
a little more out. Of him but, you know they
weren't really. In sync they threw to him, eight times he,
HAD like i think three catches twenty. Five yards so
there's gotta be more there and offensive line not ship
Blocking for ariantia nursery when he's out there against Shosh,
heinzo on one of the most efficient rushers. In football
that was the biggest THING that i call him sort,
(02:11:45):
Of malpractices like you got to help. This kid he's out.
There swimming he's a good kid and he's got a.
Lot outsign he's, working hard but he. Needs help can't
just leave ma alone.
Speaker 5 (02:11:56):
Out There aaron wilson again HERE With Us sports talk
Seven Ninety, texans insider also with some WORK with. Kprc
two find Him on Twitter At aaron WILSON underscore nfl
and the secondary.
Speaker 4 (02:12:12):
Right NOW and i know that the news earlier.
Speaker 14 (02:12:13):
THIS.
Speaker 4 (02:12:13):
Week Cj, gardner johnson you talked about It with Matt.
Speaker 14 (02:12:16):
And.
Speaker 5 (02:12:16):
Ross yeah one of the official talking points, Out there
aaron is that struggled to catch On to. Demico's, scheme
aaron the guys played in the league for about. Seven
years do you really? Buy, that like, come, On, man.
Speaker 7 (02:12:28):
No he refused to play. The scheme from, my sources,
He freelanced he did what he wanted, to do and
then he would blame other people when it was his
fault for a. Big play then he would make fun
of guys contracts and say he should be. Paid more
and he constantly compared this Situation. To philadelphia that didn't
(02:12:49):
sit well. With people and, in general he was. Just
well he'd have his, good days he have a lot of,
bad days and you know this. Annoyed guys there's some
people that, liked him like, his energy thought he was
cool and he was fun for. The MEDIA and i,
LIKE him I mean. I was i was. AROUND him
i always had fun talking ball, with him and he's
(02:13:11):
one of the more. Colorful characters he reminded me of
some Of the RAVENS guys. I covered not as good,
a player but, you know kind of that just sort of,
eccentric Energy Like ed reed guys. Like that, but yeah
and he's just a little off out there and he didn't. Fit,
inmate yeah he was a. Bad teammate he wasn't a.
(02:13:32):
Great teammate he one time he said this. TO me
i met, with him and, he Says sometimes i'm, Too
much AND basically i felt like that was a really
true moment from him where, he's, Acknowledging hey i'm. A
lot and that's when one of the teammates, told, me
so this guy is, a lot and he had, To,
go uh it's not he's a. Bad person it's just
(02:13:54):
but he the things he did don't fit well into.
This culture and there's a reason why he's changed teams so. Many,
times guys he was not. Fitting in and this was brewing.
Four weeks i've been hearing, about it and he was
almost let go. Weeks ago he asked for. A trade
he did a bunch, of stuff even though they converted
(02:14:16):
his contract and they're on the hook. For that they
just it's been a lot that they're paying him not to, be.
Speaker 6 (02:14:23):
Here especially, That early Dan, and aaron when you know
this a month into, the season that's not just a
kind of, a problem that's a, major issue and you
can either or get, him out and they did what.
Speaker 7 (02:14:37):
They, FELT yeah i think they're better off WITH. M
j stewart and Eventually Built jimmy ward if he gets
free of the NFL's kind of like the last legs
of their. Due diligence and he's a couple of weeks
away from maybe being able to get out there and
do something. IN practice a guy that's Closer As, jalen
reid the hard hitting Rookie From, penn STATE and i
(02:14:59):
think he COULD get i designated, for return and then
it's probably a couple of weeks because he's. This time
you need a couple of weeks when you've missed a
month to get your legs back under you.
Speaker 4 (02:15:09):
Real, Quick, here aaron before we get you out. The
door Anything On. Joe mixing.
Speaker 7 (02:15:14):
He will not be playing, anytime soon if. AT all
i have not penciled them into any lineups for. The
season anything they get from him will be considered. A bonus,
IT'S uh i KNOW that i think some people are
gonna probably think because this is the fourth week, he's eligible,
but no he won't be. Being activated it's just a
(02:15:37):
tough and complicated medical situation is where his sources have
described it, to me lots of extra procedures he had
outside of. The building that's why there's a reason why
it's called non. Football injury they are, paying, him though,
and yeah it's just unfortunate what's Happened, to Joe because
joe probably would make this offense look at. Least decent But,
(02:15:59):
without joe it's it's just not. The same, BUT yeah
I wish joe. Speedy recovery, but man it's been a
lengthy recovery.
Speaker 6 (02:16:07):
FOR him i think he was the toughness and heartbeat of.
THE offense i know we got to let, You, go
aaron but, to me this is even a much bigger blow.
Speaker 4 (02:16:13):
Than we EVEN think.
Speaker 6 (02:16:14):
I do it's, been great there's a attitude everything that
goes with toughness. He epitomized and his production is pretty damn.
Good too it's a. Major blow not having him this
year is going to be an uphill struggle in this
run game the, entire time, no doubt no.
Speaker 5 (02:16:28):
Doubt ye, all right, Good, stuff aaron appreciate you Again
Our sports talk Seven ninety texans INSIDER kPr c two
and find Him on Twitter At Aaron WILSON. Underscore nfl, Next,
week aaron we'll talk. To you you sure, see, you
Buddy and i'll see Him on sunday inside. The building but,
defensively though one of the things, HE mentioned i think
(02:16:49):
that is something that we can talk about because well
maybe that was a little bit of go ahead and
nip it at, the bud because you know you've got
other problems on. Your hands we'll. Discuss here it Is
The Shan. Slury Show fight So, On Friday sports talks.

The Jong salisbury show Continues.
Speaker 5 (02:17:22):
Fight So On Friday Sean Salisbury Show sports talks. Seven
ninety stros beat the AA's yesterday eleven.
Speaker 4 (02:17:30):
To five now they're gonna Get. The angels start off
a three game.
Speaker 5 (02:17:32):
Series tonight astros on deck coming your way at seven.
Point thirty tigers Beat the guardians And The red sox
lose To. The jays so that means this weekend Series
at fenway is going to matter And the texans Get
the titans at Home on sunday looking for their. First
win special Thanks To aaron wilson for joining us for
his weekly visit talking ABOUT. The Cj gardner. Johnson situation
(02:17:56):
just the defense as. A whole there had been something
off with the SECOND because i Know that stingley goes
out with, the injury but the group as a whole
has not played. Well whatsoever and clearly he was a
huge part of that of just saying the hell with,
The scheme i'll just DO what i want. To Do
And tamiko ryans very, clearly, said no that's not how
(02:18:16):
it goes. Around here and there's. A reason now you're
about to be on your sixth team IN. THE nfl i.
Speaker 6 (02:18:20):
Don't understand why a guy would come here with the
chance to be on one of the best defenses in
the league and you're you're here to add a depth
to already really before he, got here as good as
young secondary as there is in.
Speaker 4 (02:18:36):
This league You heard aaron say exactly what the.
Speaker 5 (02:18:39):
Reason was he Won A super bowl, last year so, he, thought,
oh well that's why they're bringing. Me here they're bringing
me here to, you, know, hey guys here's the. War,
stories here here's how we. Did it here's how you're
supposed to. Do it all, OF that i got to, say, that,
okay fine if you're a top. Tier receiver SAY If
aj brown, WAS here i think people are gonna LISTEN
To aj brown because they're going, to say, all right
it's a guy that can, make Us And gardner johnson
(02:19:02):
could but he's A safe.
Speaker 6 (02:19:03):
But who the hell sits in a, meeting room sees
the scheme that's had success and decides to do exactly
what he wants to do as opposed to what a
team wants. To do number one Two IS and i
don't know. Him personally i'm sure guys.
Speaker 4 (02:19:16):
Like him he's a.
Speaker 6 (02:19:17):
Good guy i'm talking about simply as, a teammate not
personal judging from Listening To aaron. Wilson talk judging from
the fact that the guy is on his sixth team
and is that talented but still is a journeyman in
the league for being a guy who's a good player
and gets here and coming into a good culture in
the locker room with a really, good defense and then
four weeks into, the season is such a team a
(02:19:39):
turd teammate that he's gone already and he hasn't played the,
fourth game and he's, not injured he didn't get traded.
For somebody he didn't just bench. Him first all, these
things or sit him down and put him on the
inactive week of roster for, the week all these things
that you just flat, ass said you're out doing your
own thing and not, fitting in and then making fun
(02:19:59):
of players who are making more money.
Speaker 15 (02:20:00):
Than you.
Speaker 6 (02:20:01):
All that that's not. A teammate that's a guy who
should be. Playing golfer i'm not saying golf and test players,
are selfish but that's an individual sport not Named The.
Ryder cup then go do. Something else i've known the
reputation in the past, from him but there also comes
a point in time when you mature, into, Saying okay
i'm gonna CHANGE how i go about being. A teammate
you when you're and he's a, good player and then
(02:20:25):
this quickly that's all you need. To know so on
the outside, people say why would? He go why would?
He go let me tell. You why guys like that
go because you're a turd as. A teammate i'd just
say as, a person as, a teammate and you got
to be a real big one to be run out
three games into the season on a defense is actually
(02:20:46):
still playing, pretty well missing, some tackles, little undisciplined but
has given you a chance to win in.
Speaker 5 (02:20:51):
Three weeks i've been mentioned every week the fork in
the road for. This team this is the nipping and
the bud. RIGHT here i love the fact that they
didn't wait on this because while he's maybe criticizing, his
teammates and Don't doubt aaron's reporting, On, that eventually what
happens you have another poor, offensive performance that's a guy
in the full team meeting that says something or in
(02:21:12):
the locker room, says something and that's when you get
a report that maybe gets out of either word he's
not doing, his. Job bingo but that's something that, You,
know hey, you know we'd be fine if these, guys didn't,
you know keep us on the field for fifteen more
plays than.
Speaker 4 (02:21:25):
They, do yeah you KNOW how I how i feel.
Speaker 6 (02:21:27):
ABOUT this i confess he. Did it guys bother me
as much. As anything and it's a PARENT that, i, confess,
meaning hey it's not, my fault it's. Somebody else's he wasn't.
In it team concept just doesn't seem to fit. Him
well and they wont obviously in spite of Him, in
philadelphia not because, Of, him no because, you're right as,
(02:21:49):
a teammate you just gotta. Be BETTER like, I said
i don't know when he comes. To, anything man he's
gonna upgrade, the energy, some Toughness super, bowl experience, all
that and quite. THE opposite i Guess super bowl experience.
For him thought, that, means, hey uh, you know go
do whatever you want whenever you want to. Do IT like,
I said i'm sure he's a. Good GUY when i,
Say it i'm talking about as. A teammate you know
(02:22:10):
how hard you have to work to be a guy they're.
Counting on and to have them run you out three
games into the season and you've got. No INJURY when i,
say injury they don't cut a. Guy injury but that
isn't contributing as, a player just kind of doing your.
Own thing it's hard to get, run, Out dude it
is hard to get. Run out and they, very well
and he. Very WELL did.
Speaker 5 (02:22:28):
I understand, you know the locker room is who, it
is and You know demiko trusts his guys all, of
that but they lose. This week and it's similar to
the way that last, week looked or even the first
WEEK Against U. Tampa bay don't you think that some
of that frustration boils?
Speaker 6 (02:22:42):
OVER, now, i oh. NO doubt i can tell. You
this they lose, this week you can you can, miss
Me and i'll always be UPBEAT because I think i'm as,
A guy i always believe you can turn. THINGS around.
I do i love comebacks and the rest. Of it
but you can miss me with. The enthusiasm this team
is still going to win the division, if ball If
The apples, colts winning you lose, this week You're you're
(02:23:02):
you're not winning, the division.
Speaker 4 (02:23:04):
Let alone making.
Speaker 6 (02:23:04):
The playoffs no years, as well especially when you look
at the optics of how, They've played you're, damn right
you're not making. Up four they haven't played well and
if you get Beat, by tennessee that's a rock bottom
low over the last. Few, YEARS now i don't expect
them to GET beat i think that they're gonna win.
This GAME yet i thought they'd Go, into jacksonville where They've,
owned jacksonville and they didn't play. Well there so you're
(02:23:26):
you're staring at a situation where you can be you
can still be upbeat and be excited every week to
try and get some. Wins going but you go down
four h enthusiasm, and well. We're close you're going to
have to miss me with that because you're close To
what oh? And, FIVE yeah i understand as a coach
you've got to be enthusiastic and. His Fans and i'm
a glass half, full guy but THAT that i got news.
For you, the, glasses uh well it may be. Half full,
(02:23:48):
it's raw it's it's it's uh. Spoiled milk if that's,
THE case i got news. For you oh and four,
DOESN'T work.
Speaker 5 (02:23:55):
I mean and it wasn't For despite jacksonville's best efforts,
To Say, hey texans whyn't y'all take?
Speaker 4 (02:24:00):
This, game yeah here, you go here, you.
Speaker 5 (02:24:02):
Go it's yours to win, the day And the texans
just pretty, much said now, we're good we're gonna fumble
in the.
Speaker 6 (02:24:07):
Red, zone well how many times they fumbled in the
red zone with a chance to win a game?
Speaker 14 (02:24:10):
This year?
Speaker 6 (02:24:10):
Two times there, You go and they're not good enough
to overcome that on a regular basis?
Speaker 4 (02:24:14):
Right, Now, offensively.
Speaker 5 (02:24:16):
Yeah and You get Josh heinz allen just absolutely wearing
OUT around tiersi it.
Speaker 6 (02:24:21):
Was a Mess Y so aaron's, Right though it's tough
enough to move a, rookie around and now he's trying
to settle him in at one of the most difficult positions.
In sports and then, to say go do it by
yourself against the most elite athletes in, the world and
that means, Edge, rushers yep hard.
Speaker 5 (02:24:34):
To do, have fun, All right so let's get back
into the astros conversation because despite, THE temptation i, am, begging,
Begging Begging, joe espada please don't.
Speaker 6 (02:24:45):
Do This And chuck edel next. As well checking out
dot com will get his picks real quick during the
week and continue.
Speaker 5 (02:24:50):
The conversation, chuck first then the Right Here shawn, Salisbury, SHOW.
Speaker 6 (02:24:54):
Hey dnm leasing just delivered a truck to a customer
who had LISTENED to D and m for more than twenty.
Five years think, about that and he'd been hearing these,
commercials forever right, for decades he believed leasing was just renting.
A car i put in, air quotes something you only
did if you couldn't afford. To buy and who hasn't, been, there,
Right GUYS But dnm leasing's here to. Change that that
changed when the dealership offered him an eighty four. Month
(02:25:16):
loan he knew he'd trade the truck in in a,
few years and he knew he'd end up well upside
down again owing more than it.
Speaker 13 (02:25:23):
Was.
Speaker 6 (02:25:23):
Worth well that's when he REMEMBERED the dnm commercials ever
Seen a texas title and when you trade in a long,
finance contract the only thing you own is. Negative equity,
those quotes so HE called, dnm leasing showed him is
that leasing isn't about what you. Can afford it's simply
the smarter way most people pay for. Their vehicles smarter
see what smarter does, for YOU and dnm leasing. Is
(02:25:46):
smart leasing. Isn't renting let me say, It again leasing.
Isn't renting. It's smarter who doesn't? Want smarter harder doesn't.
Always work, smarter does and especially when it puts money
in your pocket and makes it easier for you at,
the beginning, the middle and. The end dial seven to
one three two nine zero one thousand seven one three
(02:26:06):
two nine zero, one thousand or visit us AT. Dn
M it's, dnm leasing dmauto leasing, dot com dmauto leasing.
Dot com they continue to win awards and there's a
reason WHY. Dn M It's dmauto Leasing dot com and.
Speaker 1 (02:26:22):
We're Found The Shawn salisbury. SHOW continues.
Speaker 6 (02:26:34):
I always Like our fridays and our Fight. Song friday
normally We Get chuck edel On, on thursdays but with
me being at my son's wedding back, in town here On,
a friday ready, To roll so we're gonna give you
guys winner said he always seems to. Do, it uh
we're Here With, chuck edel who once again gave all
our listeners another winner with an under in The Green bay. Cleveland, Game,
well chuck, as always, my man you nailed that three
(02:26:56):
to zero halftime and ten, to three thirteen to ten
final way under the posted. FORTY one i sure hope
everyone is taking advantage, of IT because i sure am
paying attention to what. You're doing and if, they are then.
They're winning and with all the on air winners that
are listening and winners also by calling eight hundred eight
zero eight three four. Eight one that's eight hundred eight
(02:27:17):
zero eight three four. Eight one that's one eight hundred
eight zero eight three four, eight One or chuck wins.
Dot com and, with that, my man another big weekend
for you and a big week, In ahead so you,
must love absolutely love casting them tickets in.
Speaker 13 (02:27:31):
My, man, YEAH hey i. Appreciate. That yeah, you know
when you bet hunters IN, the nfl you know how.
It goes you're pretty much usually sweating the, whole, game,
right right so the whistle. Blows right that's why the
public loves betting, the overs because you know you could
be over at a half. Time unders you got to
sweat the whole, Game out but that was one that
handled pretty easy at it three to nothing a halftime felt, Pretty, good.
Speaker 6 (02:27:54):
Chuck, THIS weekend i was just gonna say go and
if you had something, else say but we'll get back
to if there's some you wanted to add. Of that
but looking forward to, this weekend. THERE is, i mean
we're the time when the when teams are starting to
establish who. They are about a month to six, weeks
in we start to understand. Their identity and maybe that
also goes with some of these betting lines and how.
(02:28:15):
They trend but you know this far better than, we
do and that's why you keep. Picking winners so what's
your first thought about this, weekend's FOOTBALL this nfl schedule?
Coming up to put some winners back in to. Everybody's,
pocket yeah.
Speaker 13 (02:28:28):
To, your point. Well, made there there is a lot
of things to take advantage of still early on in.
The season ONE thing i do want to SAY is
i do have a big play goal, of tonight and
what we want to do is for your the first
fifty callers who call up the one eight hundred eight
zero eight three four eight one one eight hundred eight
zero eight three four eight one first, fifty callers we'll
(02:28:50):
get to play tonight and the weekend plays for free
year for the first, fifty callers and the one game
it kind of jumps out and it's in your, hometown There, The.
Houston tennessee here IN, the nfl, you know you have
two to zero to three teams playing against. Each other
now the the, you know the normal let's say the
(02:29:10):
Novice sports better looks AT two oho and three teams
and they, Go out i'm getting, plus seven they're both ow.
And three i'll take the. Plus seven but we have
a different dynamic here with. This game, you know first,
of all one of the Differences is houston has played
a tougher schedule and they played, you know they've lost their,
three games but they Played. The rams they only lost
by five One. To tampa, last week they lost by
(02:29:33):
a Touchdown. Of jacksonville tennessee has been basically blown out
in all. Their games two of those games were. At
home And cam moored is, really struggling and it's. Not
real it's not. His fault as. You know he has
a bad. Offensive line they're. Banged up they can't run.
The Ball tony pollard's only averaging three point six yards.
Per carrey as Bad as houston is, playing offensively their
(02:29:56):
defense has been playing great and they should manhandled offensive Line.
For tennessee houston only giving up seventeen points. A game
tennessee meanwhile on their defense giving up thirty one point
three points. A game secondary is. Banged up they just traded,
Their cornerback Jarvis brown lee over To. The jets they're
having all sorts of problems. Over there the Coach for
(02:30:17):
tynessee gave you the offensive play call into the coordinator.
This WEEK so i Think this houston offense would get
really healthy here versus A weak. Tennessee defense and, You
know houston. Obviously not You, KNOW scroud i believe plays
better at on that home field, as WELL and i
think that more who's been sacked fifteen times and hit
(02:30:38):
a lot. THIS year i think the defensive line produce
and will dominate. THE game i see a lot of
good field Position for, houston HERE and i think that
minus seven is a.
Speaker 1 (02:30:46):
KEY price I.
Speaker 6 (02:30:47):
Like, Houston yeah chuck, real quick AND then i want
you to reiterate what you got going on on a.
Special tonight but, you know or for this week the
first fifty callers about getting, the pick the free pick that.
You have but With the texans in your study and what's,
GOING on i know that offensively they've been very very average,
at best and this is a good week to. Get
healthy but is there a chance that you think that?
(02:31:10):
Moving FORWARD and i know you'll look at trends, each
week but just from your naked eye and as a
big time winner when you, bet weekly does this team
look like it can do anything moving? Forward offensively or
is this who?
Speaker 4 (02:31:20):
They, are.
Speaker 13 (02:31:23):
Yeah it's an interesting thing that you know they have
to be able, to start, you know, You know chubbs
still maybe not one. Hundred percent they're banged up at
the wide. Receiver position, YOU know i still think maybe,
you know they could, you know maybe add add somebody or,
you know need somebody to step up on the wide.
Receiver position but, you know when you have, A, defense
houston as long as the offense could keep the defense
(02:31:45):
off the field for a while and let them do.
THEIR thing i think you know your division isn't. SUPER strong,
I know I know indianapolis has got off to a,
good START but i think you know this is a.
Big game you got to win, this, one OBVIOUSLY and
i think there's still Hope for houston here with, you
know we know what they're. Capable of i'd like to
see that offense get. Going, though yeah wouldn't that?

Speaker 5 (02:38:26):
I'm in a charitable giving mood today because somebody wants
to talk college football and then somebody wants to Talk
About larry fitzgerald As a Hall of. FAME nominee, i
mean we don't do Anything goes. Friday here it's the
next guys. After us but what?
Speaker 6 (02:38:37):
The hell and by, the way he's not Only a
Hall of fame nominee he's getting in.
Speaker 5 (02:38:42):
Exactly what i'm curious what the question? Is there, You,
Go dave you just had your question answered. For you
anthony And. Deer park, What's? Up, anthony hey good. Morning,
Guys HEY so i was curious if y'all had. ANY
thoughts i THINK The Lsu ole miss game this weekend
is a massive game for. Both teams WE thought lsu
had a, marquee win But that clemson wins looking less and,
(02:39:04):
less Impressive And trinidad chambliss is quietly putting together an
excellent season For. Whole miss just curious who which team
y'all think has more? To prove and how y'all see
that game? Playing out they appreciate? THE call, i, mean, Okay,
hey anthony you KNOW what i was wrong. TO assume
i appreciate you being in. The wheelhouse there comes down LSU's.
(02:39:25):
Offensive Line braylin moore makes that group capable when he's,
not playing which he's banged up a little bit with a.
High ankle then that group Struggles And ole miss is
pretty good. Up front here's the, Thing, is Yes ole
miss is Undefeated and chambliss has been good for him since.
Coming on but they Haven't Faced blake baker in this,
(02:39:46):
defense yet, so defensively you get him a couple, of
turnovers you got. A chance i WOULD say lsu with,
that offense because we haven't really seen much of that offense.
Speaker 6 (02:39:55):
This, year no and they've got a veteran quarterback who.
GETS it I like lsu in, the game but this
is a. MONSTER game i think two, PLAYOFF teams, I do,
i THINK and I know. LSU is i Think ole
miss this is you know who needs. IT more, i
mean they both could. USE it I think i Think
ole miss for just to prove that they can handle
and this game's in uh It's in. Oxford TODAY but I.
(02:40:16):
LIKE lsu I think lsu is still a national title,
type team and this is for the showcase part. Of
it it matters too to see for their own to.
TEST them i like their defense a. LITTLE more i
think it's gonna be a. Great GAME and i still
Think ole miss has a chance to be a. PLAYOFF
team i. THINK there i think this is a. Huge
game it's my favorite game of, the weekend and there's
a lot. Of them dave, thirty seconds.
Speaker 14 (02:40:36):
