good morning, Hey he's giving up.
Speaker 4 (00:51):
Turn that mic on. Let's know the people got to
hear there you go? Yeah, go ahead, Please come to
Boston in the springtime. Yeah, hey, fellas, we made it.
We did.
Speaker 5 (01:06):
Happy Valentine's Day, triple A. Happy Valentine's Day, buddy.
Speaker 4 (01:11):
I don't think that I did. I restarted the computer
because I can't see you, So don't think I did.
Don't think I didn't plan Valentine's Day. Look at my
look you get the red on yeah yeah, red blue? Yeah? Yeah,
I mean I just I actually care about this important
holiday for people about Yeah, I agree, Why are we?
(01:32):
And I think of holidays that you should get off.
I think, you know, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Saint Patrick's Day, Yeah,
Martin Luther King, President Day, D's Nuts Day, really good one.
He's one of the best, you know, anybody, Yeah, a hero, legend.
(01:53):
And then then then there's this day, yeah, Valentine, you
know the day that's equal male female. You know it's
it's a two way stream. I mean there's nothing there's
I mean, do you expect gifts today? Don't you? I should? Yeah?
I do. Yeah. So did you guys bring gifts? I did?
I came, I come bearing good. Yeah, triple you didn't
bring any? I got you. I got you in a
(02:13):
little heart candy. Yeah. Do you think more people think
this holiday is overrated, underrated, properly rated around men or women.
Speaker 5 (02:21):
I'm just saying once, last time you went to your
local h B over in Katie full.
Speaker 4 (02:25):
Sure, they put you. They put more stuff in there
for Forvale than Thanksgiving. That's what I'm saying. You walk
in the door, it's right in your kitchen. You leave
the building, it's in your kitchen, and everything every aisle
from sweet tarts to flowers, balloons to candy, to toys
to well, that didn't sound right. Yeah people probably day four,
(02:48):
probably just every day, you know, they would plug it
up for you. That's what I got you. Thanks, Thanks,
I needed a new one. Don't say no VP man.
Speaker 6 (03:00):
There you go.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
Yeah, I just I don't want to bash this holiday
because I know it's for lovebirds. They don't want to,
but it's such a forced holiday. I guess what I'm
trying to say, right, hey, it's like what do we
gotta do? We got you know, okay, look how can
we crowbar Valentine's Day? And to make sure that you know,
I don't know. Then you could be the cheesy guy
like I'll be right now saying well, you know, for
(03:25):
some of us Valentine's Days every day, we don't need
a special holiday for our loved ones. You know what
I'm saying? Another day, man, just another day. And went by.
Uh I'm not a big Kroger guy, I'm an hib guy.
Oh yeah it up.
Speaker 5 (03:40):
I went by kay Rogers and they have a tent
set up in the parking lot for today, a Valentine's
Day tent. Yes, like a massive is it is it
flo it's Kroger, he said, yeah, they saw.
Speaker 4 (03:52):
What is it like? Is it a drive through like
a donut shop and it's flowers? You can do and
pin in there with a mobile where it's just like
they're flowing through something. Have to go in and get
the flowers. You're coming over work late flowers.
Speaker 5 (04:04):
Yeah, you just walk in. It's not drive through, but
it's it's one of those massive tents. You walk in
and they've got nothing but just huge bouquets like and
I'm sure they're not cheap. Actually another well, they're gonna
double charge today because they not get them two thousand
excuse me, two thousand and nine. I'd waited till the
last minute. The girl I was dating, I went and
bought flowers from a tent at Kroger And yeah, it
(04:28):
was like eighty bucks back then, so that's probably about
what one hundred and sixty now double from nine.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
Yeah. Huge bouquet though, yeah, which reminds me. You just
see the movie you see the reach of movies you
didn't with Tom Cruise, Jack Reacher. Yeah no, no, it's
on the bucket list though. Yeah, so no, then I
won't run it for it just reminds me of when
you buy flowers when you're trying to solve a crime.
When they do it on the show. Just to give
a little hint, there's a and Tom Cruise is like,
(04:55):
you know, doing Old Jack Reacher. Yeah, that you can't
when somebody, uh how somebody brings flowers? How did they
you know what? It'll come to me. But when they
had the way, the way, the time of day the
guy bought the flowers made it easier for him to
understand what was going on. He was taking the flowers
(05:15):
bottom early to take him to a lunch place instead
of bring them home to his wife. You got shot.
They never know. But why would you buy flowers at
noon going to work as opposed to it coming home,
which meant you either got somebody you're taking them to
a friend at work, or you got something else going on, right, Yeah,
And that's how they figured that. They figured it out
(05:37):
and another one had a watch on the same day
she did, and they were going to meet to get
so you'll see. It's the way it's it's it's a
little uh, it's kind of nice how they weave through it.
So I just want to throw that in not to
have to put a you know, the damper on people.
Just whatever you do, just don't be on a Jack
Reacher move and get shot today.
Speaker 5 (05:52):
So how many how many fellas from a long range
from a long rife watch phenomenal. They're really good. You
gotta watch it. So how many fellas this morning are
waking up putting out their bouquet of flowers for their
wife getting ready to head to the head to work.
Speaker 4 (06:07):
Well, I don't think. I don't see how many of them? Well,
if you got the flowers, how'd you hide the flowers?
She got them either last night or you're getting them
on the way home. Because if you got them last night,
and maybe you have an extra refrigerator in your garage,
you put them in or whatever, or a vase outside,
put them in water. But it's rare that you buy
him the night before, unless it's not. Let me given
to you now, just to let you know. And the
rest of the gifts are coming tomorrow because you can't
(06:30):
where you're going to hide them. This in a wilt
even overnight, right with that, So it's normally it normally happens. Flowers.
I'd be willing to bet you as I've done my
deep by deep diving, right, ahoul, Sergeant Salisbury, right exactly. Lieutenants,
I'd prefer to be lieutenantant okay, all right, or captain.
Captain is that's on your way home unless you've decided
(06:50):
that you're going to give them to them early, because
very rare. Unless the guy got up at six, went
to he grab some flowers and came back before he
went to work. But yeah, they I think the majority
of flowers are delivered between two and five on Valentine's Day.
Hub did extended hour holiday hours. There you go, like
the dude during Christmas for Valentine's Day. Yeah, I don't know.
This is I know, we joke around the holiday. For some,
(07:12):
I'm sure it means a lot. I just it's never
really been a I've never I had to be with
all the red and all the you have to be
reminded of her to kind of flies fly by. Oh
if you didn't have a significant other something out there,
why would you? Yeah? I think that this I mean
but yeah, ok, yeah, you know what I'm saying. For
(07:32):
some it's huge. You know, people, there's gonna be a
whole bunch of engagements today. You know, people are gonna
get original. Oh yeah, that's my point, right, So, but
I you know, if if, if, if this holiday means
something to somebody, it's just never been a it's never
been a it was a bigger deal when I was
in elementary school filling out Valentine's Day cards and put
(07:53):
it in the back of the a little holder on
the back of her chair, or all your classmates, and
you say certain ones for certain people. I don't I
can't remember Valentine's Day being into bigger than that in
my mind.
Speaker 5 (08:04):
Man, back in elementary nervous right, ye, man, Yeah, we
used to have Yeah, you had your you had it
on the back of your seat.
Speaker 4 (08:11):
Or you had it in the very back in their pouch. Yeah,
you put in the pouch and so they wouldn't see
you put it in and they'd have to go when
they go, look, oh this is yeah, it's crush you
want to talk about, dude, I'm telling you, vill lady. Yes,
it's never been bigger for me than Yeah. That was
also disrespect to you know, the lady in your life,
if you've been married, you've got a significant other, No disrespect.
But my memories of Valentine's Day are far greater when
(08:33):
I was eight, yes, than when I was eighteen, twenty eight,
forty eight y you know what I'm saying. Valentine's Day parties, Man,
I just and then you'd hope the girl would come
back the next day, and you were hoping in yours
that she was thinking the same thing. Right, and then
you give try to give the cool one to your buddies,
but you're not sure. You got to be watching everybody
got one? Why don't we do that anymore? I have
no idea. Is it because they don't want people to
(08:53):
feel left out? And it's it's it's bs get one
to one Halloween parties because somebody's beliefs don't believe in
a Halloween party, comes do something.
Speaker 7 (09:03):
You know.
Speaker 5 (09:04):
It's like even an elementary like either got it or
you don't. You could be a late bloomery. You know
that it's fine. Maybe you're ugly as hell in elementary and
you're gonna blossom into a into a you know, a
really good looking kid. Plenty of girls in middle school,
in high school, there's plenty of guys and girls that
was me Valentine's Day from their lover, I mean, from
their their crush in this in the fourth grade, fifth grade,
even when they had a head gear, I rocked coke
(09:26):
bottle glasses and a bowl cut in elementary, I was
still getting the post card.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
No, but I still got a couple. But okay, so
there's perfect case. But if even if you had actually
had a couple couple, you talking to dog, you're talking to.
Speaker 5 (09:43):
Yeah, I got got My nickname was like Harry Potter.
So yeah, put it to you that way my nickname.
Tell me about it.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
Don't stop looking at me. But I really serious, Am
I right? It's never been more my memories. I remember
those more than I do. I can. It's it's so
I can still I guess. I know.
Speaker 5 (10:06):
I can still feel the butterfly type feeling when you
open up that we used to have.
Speaker 4 (10:11):
So it depends.
Speaker 5 (10:12):
We had the pouch up one in one grade, and
I think in like fourth grade they switched it to
just white bags, white paper bags, and you like decorated
it and you can just put you know, candies or
whatever in there. I can literally still feel the butterfly
type feeling when you open it up and you saw
a Valentine's Day card from your crush. Oh, no doubt,
and you're looking at it's got like a little note
on and you're like, oh, I can't wait to.
Speaker 4 (10:33):
Get that A drawn heart with an arrow through. What's
going on with Yeah, I'm telling you, I do. I
can think about I even remember the names of the
crushes in that grade too.
Speaker 5 (10:45):
So when we were just literally two minutes ago, I
was like, in my mind, I said, the two names.
Speaker 4 (10:51):
It's crazy. Is that it's absolutely crazy, And like I said,
it's no disrespecting to go along. But the I guess
a lot of times when it happens, for a first,
the impact that had, it's so vivid, like how nervous
you were Valentine's Davey more more nervous than that than
you were on a test or anything else you had
to do. Right, Yeah, it was crazy, man, But I
I you know what I don't Well, it was innocent,
(11:12):
I know, it was what was so what was so white?
Why why don't we do that anymore? I mean, because
kids have their phones and they's some gratification all the stuff.
But it was part of the it was part of
the journey and the chase of your crush. You'd like
walking at school for three months recess.
Speaker 5 (11:26):
Recess, Yeah, regularly think about how did you ever? I'm
sure you did, but it's like for me third grade.
I'll I remember the exact name, in the exact situation there.
I was chasing my crush around. She fell offside and
broke her arm because I because we were playing tag, right,
you know, like what you did, Bryan, you ruined it
for everybody, man, social media for ever? What you did
social media and technology ruined it for everybody.
Speaker 4 (11:48):
You think about that, man, And the it was I
just don't understand why we I mean, well, adults are
and everything. For the most part, there was adult adults
and everything. But it was so it was so it
was so cool, you know, fun, Yeah it was. And
it was then you wanted to get the right way,
and you'd have your mom help you, and you well, Dad,
(12:08):
what do I say? I mean you pop, don't say anything,
just U cool? Yeah? Right, And and then the next
day you're like, what's she going to do? She look
at me, right, and you'd start to say, well, man,
she smiled at me the same and I said, oh,
the impacts it, yeah, And you weren't going to hang
around them anyway. You're still hang around your buddies, right,
And then again recess. How about that you can't. I mean,
as it got old. When my kids were young, go
(12:29):
have lunch with them. They have to line up to
run back out and play. If you skin your leg,
they're worried about people suing them. I mean they literally,
I'm telling you. When it was in San Diego in
scripts franch they're like the third and fourth grade, second
third grade, third and fourth grade. My boys were, my
daughter was younger. I'd go have lunch with them from
traveling once a week, I mean the buddies. I'd bring pizza.
(12:50):
Sometimes i'd clear it with the school and i'd bring
all their buddies of sixth grade seventh grade. They'd be
right out. I bring a couple of large pizzas once
a week, and ten of their buddes would sit around.
We bring it to lunch, and we didn't, and still
it was right. It was awesome for me too, Yeah,
because I'd be doing television to come back on one day.
I just wanted my kids enough, so I'd do for
all three of my kids. Once a week, I'd bring
something either for them or for their little group. And
(13:10):
then sometimes they front, well, you don't have enough for everybody.
I'm not here for I'm here for my buddies, my
kids four friends or they're eight friends, but regardless. And
then one time I said, why I'll never forget it.
I was with the principal. There's a ffferent because you know,
you know, you're always around. I said, why is it
that after these kids eat, they're excited to wonder that
the last second half of school everybody's fall asleep. I said,
(13:31):
they eat their sandwich, half of it, they throw the
other half away. Who doesn't eat your cupcake or whatever
it is they're eating now? And why is it they
make them line up to go out and play. It was,
you eat in two minutes, so you have so you
can have thirty five minutes to play with your buddies,
play basketball, marbles, whatever it is you were playing on
the playground, kickball. Well, we can't. We can't play dodgeballing.
(13:53):
We used to play dodgeball tup. Well, because somebody gets hurt, well, really,
if they get hurt, fix the black eye, if you
fall on the concrete and get a scar under your
chin and get a stitch, welcome to being a kid.
Exactly like they wouldn't let him, I said, are we
really Yeah? Sean, you know the principals. He goes, hands
are tight, he goes, you'll get it. Somebody falls and
skins there. An'll sue us what I'm dead serious? And
(14:15):
he said, I said, Sean, I said, come on, man,
who what family does it? He goes, happened plenty of
times here? How many times they can? So they have
to walk out in single file to go to the playground,
and then they're monitored. Listen, free guy comes in skins
his need. Teacher say, and you know how you'd rip
your pants? You put it down your mind. You go
home to your mom, say what are you doing? Those
are bills? You just got those for your birthday or
(14:36):
for Christmas. But you'd go to the nurse's office. You
were still an anchy, and you smell like dirt, right
and sweaty. Yeah, and the teacher would I mean, then
the nurse would talk to you and be your best friend.
Put put a band in it, cleaned out with the
Macua chrome or whatever the hell they were using. It
burn a little bit. Put ada. Didn't call your parents,
and you tried to get as quick as you could,
(14:58):
so you may have ten more minutes to go play
on the playground, and now we're walking, and then you
wonder why kids are falling asleep and have zero attention span.
They just ate lunch, You make them walk, they can't
get fit, you know, have fun out on the playground.
And if a guy falls in a little tackle touch football,
oh well, you know, and then you send him back
to class and the teacher, and you wonder what kind
of advantage of the teachers have. They're sitting there saying,
(15:19):
these kids are either jumping off the walls or they're
falling asleep on me. And so it's just the whole thing.
I never understood. You know how old school, Well, times change.
There's certain things we need to go back to old school.
Get the kids off their ass, don't let them have
phones at lunch, and get you out there and go
old school. Let's play some mush softball so you didn't
need a glove, whatever it is, and go play. And
(15:42):
it's it's the same. And I don't know how we
got off, but it's the same thing. They found. These
kids need bring Valentine. Yeah, they're not sexually doing anything
wrong when they bring a third grader brings this crush
hell a Valentine, big deal.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
Look, at it.
Speaker 4 (15:58):
I mean, dude too, I'll never I can't. I remember
Valentine's Day then more than I do any one in
but since then, Yeah, it's crazy.
Speaker 5 (16:06):
I miss I missed those pe days with the the rug,
the carpet gym, playing dodgeball. Oh dude, the brown carpege
gym at hersh Elementary was the best gym on the planet.
Speaker 4 (16:18):
Hit in the face, your nose, your eyes, your eyes
would water for a few minutes. You're out until the
next one, and you couldn't wait to get it back. Bay, honey,
what happened to your eyes? It's a little black. Oh no,
not a big deal. We got no big deal. In
the nurse, ain't calling your family. Okay, listen to the murgency.
Just stop it? Okay, yeah, stop it, go outside and
play man that and our school system did we've put
(16:40):
teachers in a buying put I mean, and then there's
some watch job teachers because they put themselves in behind
it too a time. You know that too. Yeah, but
third graders or Valentine's Day was pretty cool?
Speaker 5 (16:49):
Yeah, you know, damn it. I should ask. So I
had my TENU practice last night. I think those were
third graders and fourth graders. I should have asked them
how they were gonna be navigating.
Speaker 4 (16:57):
I think you're twelve and the seventh grade, So like
fourth and fifth that missed opportunity name it. They may not,
well they unless their parents have shared it with them.
They have no idea what we're talking about. Yeah, true,
because they don't do it. Yeah, it's a very good point. Hey,
how you guys feel about the Astros outfield? M m
m mmm.
Speaker 5 (17:14):
Chas McCormick had some interesting thing, interesting things to say
about that Astros outfield at spring training yesterday. We'll hear
it discussing next to Sports Talk seven.
Speaker 7 (17:23):
Ninety the most refreshing way to start your day shower,
shave and sean they're done.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
The courtesy flush is old ways appreciated.
Speaker 4 (17:36):
Thank god, Thank the good Lord.
Speaker 7 (17:38):
Thank you from the management team here at Sports Talk
seven ninety.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
Back to Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 4 (17:46):
Come blasting in about love ballads from nineteen eighty five.
Remember those commercials. I love the love ballads, so love
oh ballads or ballads? I call them love ballads. B
A l it is a ballads or ballads. I mean
maybe there's a duck out there for a mallard but
I think it's I think it's ballads, is it? I say,
love ballads? Yeah? Where I come where I come from? Yeah,
(18:08):
love cone, bread and jigg And it's love ballad, I believe. Yeah,
I love ballads of the eighties. That is what I'm
looking at. So what did you call them all your life?
What you just learned today?
Speaker 8 (18:17):
No?
Speaker 4 (18:17):
No, no, I just missed. I just mispronunciated it. I
watch you investiate ballads, Sean. Today's twenty twenty five, and
I just learned it's a love ballard. I mean, it's
not a love ballad. It's a love balld. It's kind
of well perfect because there's still people that call Valentine's
they spell it T.
Speaker 7 (18:31):
I M.
Speaker 4 (18:31):
Yes, that's all the times Valentine's Day really heard all
the time. Valentine's Day. It's Valentine's yeah, just like it's
love ballad not ballad. Yeah. Yeah that's what I said,
love ballad.
Speaker 8 (18:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (18:42):
But what I'm saying, Oh it's Valentine's Day. No, there's
no there's no him in valentine ballads. Yeah, b A
l A that's what I said. Oh is it? Yeah? Yeah?
I had some coffee. Are like the four times you
said it with it was just it was that's so bad.
I'm just trying to read when you go give a speech, Yeah,
well you know, I love love Ballards and then the
guy says, hell's I love Ballard? Who's this guy? He
(19:04):
just does just be looking out for my people? Why
are you right now? It's a ballad. I'm just looking
looking out for my peep. Love me looking out for
my peep. But Valentine's Day, there's no amine, no down.
Valentine's Yeah, seven seven and is the number to join? Allen?
Good morning? Oh tripley. Will you punch him up for me?
Speaker 9 (19:24):
Please?
Speaker 4 (19:25):
Alan? What's happening?
Speaker 10 (19:27):
Alright? What's going on?
Speaker 4 (19:28):
Man?
Speaker 9 (19:29):
No?
Speaker 6 (19:29):
I was just on my way to Lake Charles Drown.
I started thinking about the Bragman contract. How players are
just you know, it's this free agency that just taste
the money. So there's really no loyal to in my opinion,
to teams like they used to be. I've been follow
the Astros says that the code forty five, but I
started thinking also about forty million a year, and then
(19:52):
I started chuck because I go up into thirteen. MANA
that has to be the fact.
Speaker 10 (19:57):
That he has to listen to that Neil diamond.
Speaker 4 (19:59):
Song every God Bless Him. Yeah, what a great song,
best seventh inning song in the history. My man.
Speaker 6 (20:08):
Okay, I doesn't get still Diamond, but I got to
drive me up a wall everybody believe, you know, to
the top.
Speaker 4 (20:17):
But you know what, Alan, if you were a player
for forty million a year, you'd sing along, you and
I both, would you know? I just you know everybody
can be balling. Yeah, then then it's self admitted. You
can be I'll be by you can buy me when
it comes to that forty million to listen to Neil
(20:37):
Diamonds sing every home game I'm in Yeah, forty million,
appreciate your thank you. Just ask with this bregnant thing. Yeah,
we can talk about it, huh. Anyway, he'd taken a
short term contract here if the money was right in
(20:57):
your mind, just a guess. I think it's something to
discuss for sure in any way that like, for instance,
if they had come back and said, we're not going
six years, but let's get you up in the rarefied
not forty million. Yeah, but you know twenty nine, twenty eight,
they're just just something. Yeah that says four year deal,
three year deal for less than even the Red Sox.
(21:19):
Would they have would the Astros have come off that
and said, oh, three years for twenty nine million or
thirty million, or or four years for what you? Is
this all on Bregman's party?
Speaker 5 (21:31):
I think part let's discuss it because I think it's
Excuse me, I think it's twofold.
Speaker 4 (21:36):
I mean because Boris is going to get blamed all
the time. For sure, He's gonna get blamed bays all
the two ways. But the question is if you, if
you're his player, you want and he's your agent in
that way harder. Yeah, get to try and get it
to the point. And the length of that contract negotiation
and or the posturing or whatever got him forty million
(21:56):
for three years, that's what buyouts after everyone. So yeah, dude,
he's got this contract. Matter of fact, for me, I
understand that guaranteed me. It might be better than six years. Yeah,
because after one year for forty months, what if he's
what if he plays like Bregman and Fenway Park always
does and he's a monster, it's three and then somebody
(22:20):
comes back Tom scud forty million a year for five years?
Was it worth him holding out for? Yeah? Yeah, so
I just thought I did these put it this way.
You know, where the negotiating when this happens, it's somewhere.
It lands somewhere in the middle. They they had their stubborness,
they had their stubbornness is somewhere in the middle the
contract and go the truth of all the things that
(22:41):
went on land right right. Posturing is a big thing
in this. So just curious if you thought that maybe
or anybody thinks that that what you have taken, what
he have taken less years here, Yeah, that really never
was broached.
Speaker 5 (22:53):
Well, no, it wasn't ever ever. I think it's just
worth discussings. Let's talk about it. Seven seven ninety right
here on sportslocks.
Speaker 4 (23:00):
Hey guys, uh oh, you know what, let's get uh
well the microphones not we're well, I'll talk to we'll
do Let's get to break Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 1 (23:10):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued.
Speaker 5 (23:14):
With the Astros, Pictures and Catchers reporting yesterday seven one three,
two one two five seven ninety is the number to
join Brandon, Good morning.
Speaker 8 (23:23):
Good morning, Brian, say that again, Brandon.
Speaker 4 (23:28):
We're good Brian. Oh what's up, Brandon Brando? I don't
know your call from the truck. Yes, I ain't calling
from the truck. What's happening.
Speaker 11 (23:39):
We're going to Barbo, Colorado, Colorado.
Speaker 4 (23:44):
Oh, we're going, well where in Colorado? Know all about Pueblo, Colorado.
That's where you go on Peblo. I think that's what
he said. Yes, here we go.
Speaker 12 (23:53):
We're getting we're stretching trucks.
Speaker 4 (23:57):
Okay, we're going skiing, Mama, we're going. No, we're just
switching trucks. I'm selling my truck to my brother and
taking the one he is.
Speaker 5 (24:06):
Oh my goodness. And you guys are driving all the
way to Colorado and coming right back. Yeah, Brandon, Brandon,
are you gonna you're gonna miss the You're gonna miss
the NBA All Star Game?
Speaker 4 (24:16):
Oh darn oh wait that was mom? No, Mom's right,
who cares? Yeah, I'm well that's a good that's a drive.
That's a good mom and my mom and son drive.
There you go, love it spending time together. What's on
your mind about these astros?
Speaker 2 (24:32):
Brando?
Speaker 4 (24:34):
All right, I'm ready for Yes, me and you both, buddy,
full workout start next week and the weather that comes
with it. There you go, well, brand go ahead there
where in Florida. In Florida should be in the I
would have say in the seventies, right, I would think
(24:55):
sometimes somewhere unless there's a little cold front. I know
in certain parts theres but I would say it's in
the day in the seventies, breezy in the seventies. It's
Sean Salisbury show. Ninety two degrees here in Houston, little
rain in the air. But Valentine's Day, Kiss your lover.
We'll be right back.
Speaker 1 (25:12):
Right now.
Speaker 5 (25:13):
It's seventy four degrees in West Palm Beach, Brandon, it's
gonna be a high of eighty two ninety seven percent humidity.
Speaker 4 (25:21):
Perfection other than the humidity. Oh awesome. Well you guys
be safe. Yeah, Mom, thank you for uh quite frankly,
I'm being sis sharing your son with us every day.
We love it and uh listening to it. Well, thank you,
and you guys be careful. That's a long haul, but
get that rig and get on back home. And Brandon,
we always appreciate you, buddy. You guys have fun by
(25:41):
the time you get back to be full swinging pretty
much in uh what's a three or four day or
going to and from Idaho, right, Yeah, Scott we're just
we're meeting in Idaho. He's coming from idahose so we're eating. Okay,
So they're meeting in Pueblo there, Yeah, I gotcha. Okay, Yeah,
you guys be safe. Oh yod be careful. You let
a brandow joy your weekend, buddy. Don't think about that
(26:03):
Hall my mom. Thanks, guys, see think about the hold
my mom. I mean they're going to Pueblo, Colorado. Yeah,
and they're turning right around coming. They'll be it takes Friday.
They could be home by siding. I know about that.
Speaker 8 (26:13):
Hall.
Speaker 4 (26:13):
Okay, they've done it. You love that. I knew so,
but it's it's uh warms my heart when moms and sons,
or dads and daughters or dads and sons take those
road trips together. Yeah, memorable. I know you're not a
dry I am. I'd rather drive then I would fly
unless I'm in a dude. I was looking at a
picture real quick to digress. Have you seen like the
Gulf Stream eight Hunter, the new the g eight Hunt. Yeah,
(26:36):
oh my dude, it's it's a hotel.
Speaker 5 (26:38):
In the I was gonna say, it's literally like seventy
five million new if you were worth a billion, would
you not buy one to take out all the travels?
If I could afford a private jet, even if I
could put it, you become a plaint snob. I would.
I would never fly a great I would never fly commercially.
Speaker 4 (26:53):
Very few styles. You know where I can eat for
the hot eye? How much? I don't care. But if
if I was worth if I was a billionaire, or
even dude, if I was worth five hundred million, because
the interest on that alone, you're not gonna be able
to spend that yearly inhow imagine it? But I would.
I looked at it and said, I'd become a plane snob.
Not that, because I'd take it's like fits nineteen or
(27:14):
twenty plus the pilots. I would just fly. My buddy
would go to I would. I would make it. If
you're gonna live life, why not they also have that plan.
I looked at it, I said, and you could see
watching it's you're basically in a hotel slash resort in
the air and it goes. Dude, the length of travel
on those things. It's just I was reading on and thinking, Okay,
(27:35):
if they ever sell one of the coming of a
billion dollars I'm going right there and spending seventy five
million in cash and I'm buying that, and I'm taking
my friends and we're gonna fly around and we're gonna
play golf at every golf course in the world, and
we're gonna have a blast and share it with your
friends and have no regrets none. Because I've become the
ts getting doing to an airport. I've gotten to the
point now I never want to be a snob about
(27:56):
anything like that, like a coffee snob. I am a
snob about uh or a beer side about If if
I could do that and resist having to walk through
an airport ever again, Yeah, I'm all in. Yeah, because yeah,
it's about the only thing.
Speaker 5 (28:09):
You drive up to an executive airport, you can quite
literally just drive onto the tarmac, you jump out, you
got your bags, you walk right onto a plane.
Speaker 4 (28:14):
If you had that kind of money, Yeah, why wouldn't
you do it? If you're one of those PGA golfers,
why wouldn't you fly private every all of them?
Speaker 5 (28:22):
Even if I because some of these private jets they
have like memberships, so you get a certain amount of flights.
Speaker 4 (28:27):
Yeah, yeah, I would do that. You will like the
wheels up or any of them, your net jets. You're
buying fractional ownership. I would do that, you buy one
hundred hours for a certain amount of money. But if
it got to that point, if I had that kind
of money, that didn't matter. Seventy five million with seventy
five million, right, yeah, and then I'm buying that leaving
it parked, and if I get a whim, I'm out
out later and Pilot tell me you're out of town
(28:47):
this show. That's right? Yeah, the better it's talked to
Austin real quick for we get a break down. Austin,
what's up?
Speaker 13 (28:55):
Good morning?
Speaker 4 (28:57):
Terrible war here, buddy, what's happening?
Speaker 13 (29:00):
I hang in there, but we will.
Speaker 14 (29:03):
I Well, I was thinking about Bregman and him moving
to second base to join the Red Sox. Last year
he had that arm issue, and I'm wondering if that's
got something to do with it, and y jose Al
two bays willing to move to left to help him
to move over to second base so he doesn't have
to go across the diamond all day.
Speaker 5 (29:24):
Well, from everything that we understand, he had that surgically
fixed this past offseason, so I don't think there's any
issues there anymore.
Speaker 4 (29:32):
And I think the issue Austin in Boston isn't Alex
Bregman's arm. It's Raphael Dever's not wanting to play any
position other than third base. But if Boston's smart, the
truth is they will do the right thing and you
move him. You move him because his glove is a
is about a four compared to Bregman's ten. If they
(29:55):
want to be a better team defensively, Bregman plays third
base in Boston, not second base, in my opinion, and
I would think in most people's opinion, because Devers is
he can rake, but he's not a he's a He's
a serviceable defender at best. And that's from a guy
who watches about one hundred and thirty Red Sox games
a year. He he just that's not his strength. But
he's the face of the organization because he can rake.
(30:17):
And so I think that's the issue, not Bregman's arm.
Maybe five years from but I think Bregman's arm is
still good enough to play third base. But you know
they they Red Sox know they they smart move would
be to play Bregman at third until his career is over.
Be honest with you.
Speaker 1 (30:32):
Yeah, just well I do.
Speaker 14 (30:34):
I do have to agree with you know that it
brightens my day every morning here in Brandon, and.
Speaker 13 (30:39):
You all talk as well.
Speaker 4 (30:40):
Thank you, appreciate you. But I Austin's question is valid
because of that the you know, the elbows and the stuff.
He got very very valideh and he may two years
from now that may be the case. It may be
just like when you get a catcher that's knees or
born out, they move him to first base. Of course,
well Piazza, eventually all of them, Hey exit stage right,
(31:03):
go play, go play first base or dh right, But
then you wonder how much more, how many more years
Joe Marad had in his career as good as he
could hit when he played five more if his knees
weren't shot right. But I think Austin makes a good
point that that's a valid question. I don't. But I
don't think that's the reason. The reason uh Altuve is
going to move to left field would be if you
(31:24):
had to keep Parades and Bregman in the lineup at
the same time, play, Paradis would have had to learn second,
That's in my opinion. And then but Boston this is
just a rap field. Evers likes to play third base,
and in truth, you're a better defense by far. If
Bregman's at third base.
Speaker 5 (31:40):
With Astros right around the corner, you need a pregame spot.
Sean jbar M Barbecue.
Speaker 4 (31:48):
Say, we, you know, formed this partnership with them, and
yesterday was our first day talking on them, and they
are when we first walked in and when I drove
up to it, I thought I didn't know to play.
Su existed and we're here to help with the brand wearest,
but once you walk in there, you won't. It's over.
It's over, Johnny. It's over. Food, spectacular, spacious but cozy
(32:11):
outdoor patio for when the weather. This is the listen
closest to the ballpark. When you want indoor, outdoor and
great food, this is the place you need to go
before and after. Jay barn and Barbecue's off the charts,
and you and I found that out. And then when
you eat the food, it might as well be caught
in candy melting in your mouth. It's off the charts.
Speaker 5 (32:28):
And you know, when we talk about a pregame and
a postgame spot for whether you're going to the Rockets, game,
whether you're going to the Astros game, free parking, you
don't have to park on the street. They have their
own parking lot. I know that's a big deal over
its all downtown area.
Speaker 4 (32:40):
Yeah, no doubt, man. It's two to zero one Leland Street.
Speaker 5 (32:43):
It's literally a couple of blocks away from both the
Toyota Center and Minute May Park. They got world class barbecue,
live music and events and Sean that outdoor patio Migrant.
Speaker 4 (32:52):
Is great food, phenomenal customer service, and the locations off
the charts. What else do you want other than get
your butt there. And I will have people calling us
on this show after they go in there and say, well,
you guys didn't lie because the food sucks. It's not
even good. The food is even better than the parking
and everything else that goes along. And that's saying something
(33:12):
because it's top shelf all the way around. Love those guys.
Jbar and Barbecue. Thanks guys.
Speaker 5 (33:15):
They've got brunch specials, they've got a full menu, they
got chicken tacos, they've got brisket qeso, they've got turkey,
they've got everything you need, chop beef, and it's all
right there at Jbarm Barbecue dot com. Jbarmbbq dot com.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
This Sean Salisbury Show continues to continue.
Speaker 5 (33:37):
Also got some audio from Chas McCormick. We're gonna play
next segment at seven o'clock. He talked about the state
of the outfield. You have concerns. That's next at seven o'clock.
But this segment, Sean, do you think that Alex Bregman
would have come back to the Astros for a shorter
term deal with a higher AAV?
Speaker 7 (33:56):
I do?
Speaker 4 (33:57):
Me and you both I do?
Speaker 9 (33:59):
I do?
Speaker 4 (34:01):
I think there was a perception, I asked, Well, I
asked you this three weeks ago. I said, is there
a perception that with the way his contract worked it
looked like a pay cut? To me? Yes, I said,
it was the hell it was pushing a month. We
said this immediately when you're talking about the mind when
(34:21):
the season was over. I'm sure other people said it too,
but it was just like, okay, because I know how
athletes think. They just do. There's ego and private comes
to I don't want it to look and plus in truth,
you don't want it to look that way. With the CBA,
with the players Union, Well, why is a player like
him taking a pay cut even though he had some
struggles offensively, you know what I mean. Yeah, so but
gold Glove. I mean, when you're that good, you can
(34:44):
cover a lot of holes on defense for your team.
And so when you're going through that, I said, okay,
so I get after they you know, when you load
it and front loaded, and all of a sudden it's
at the end, it's a little less. It looks like
you took a pay cut, but you didn't. But in
the athlete's mind, a lot of times they want this
feeling of the optics matter and then they do let
alone the money. So if you're asking me if I
(35:06):
think that would he come back with the Astros have
offered what Boston did at the beginning, if he didn't,
if they didn't know any want a short term contract,
I gotta believe they whether it's short term or long term.
Wouldn't you cover all the bases and say, okay, here's
three different types of contracts I'll take right. If you're Boris,
you put it on the table like that so and
we can we could walk through all of them. You
put the oh, I want the six seven year deal
(35:28):
for the long term money, I want the short term
with opt outs, and then I want the short term
if that's the last alternative with a short term deal,
a three year deal and one hundred million or ninety
million bucks. So do I think if it would have
looked a little different, even though it's more short term,
that he would have considered coming back. I do. Now,
(35:48):
if you offer twenty eight or thirty for three years
and the other team's offering forty, you're leaving, right' it's
thirty million bucks over three years. You got to if
you don't leave, then you're not real smart, right.
Speaker 5 (36:01):
So let's see, excuse me, the way that they set
up his contract in the final two years, final two
or three years, he was making around thirty million because
they backloaded it. It was a five year, hundred million
dollar deal. And as he got a little bit older
and into that contract, that's when the money started to
go up. So I want to say, final three years,
(36:22):
he was making around thirty So he takes let's say when.
Speaker 4 (36:25):
They back they backloaded it, so he had thirty So
if they offer him twenty six to five, that's when
I say cut. Most of them do backload it instead
of front and like that, some will frontload it into
football when they changed the contract up and you redo
it so you get more money out front space. Right
in baseball, they backloaded. So what it looks like is
that at thirty million, even though it was backloaded under
(36:45):
the average, it looked like on the contract that people
that wouldn't know, like you know, hitting Spatra, whoever has
the numbers that well, if you're only offering twenty six
twenty seven, I was making thirty, it looks like a
pay cut win. In reality, it's not. But it looks
like that, and it bothers athletes. I don't know if
it bothered him. I wouldn't know insight to that, but
(37:06):
it would bother me. So do I think you would
listen to a short term deal at the right price.
I do.
Speaker 5 (37:13):
Yeah, So thirty thirty MILLI year, three years, ninety mili
if that would have been the offer two weeks ago.
Speaker 4 (37:25):
I don't think he's in Boston, right, I don't think
so either. I don't think it would have got to
the point of Boston. Oh that's what you want. The
question is would he have done that without an opt out?
I would think so, especially if it's I would think,
But you know what you got to ask, if you're
the player, you want him because it gives you more leverage.
But do I think yes? But when forty million comes up,
you have no choice, you know, And they were never
(37:47):
going to get close to that.
Speaker 5 (37:48):
And then it just makes me think, you know, when
we discuss this off air, it just makes me think, like,
what are they going to do when Jordon Alvarez comes
up for free agency?
Speaker 4 (37:57):
Well, if he's the player that he's been and that
assent can tinues and he's in his twenties when it
comes up, he's a got to be a forty million
dollar a year player for five six years? What's that
forty eight one hundred and twenty you're talking that he's
a he's a depending on the length of the contract.
(38:18):
You know, I don't do ten year deals, but what's
seven times forty? That won't be No. Sorry, I was
going to say, the truth is, how is he not? Yes?
I do too. So even if by the time his
contracts up and he rakes and continues to let's say
(38:38):
he's a fifty million dollars year player and it's six years,
that's what three million dollars? I mean, three hundred million dollars,
Is that right? Yeah? Fifty hundred Yeah, Yeah, that's it.
That's right, right, correct, he's making Put it to you
this way, Sean. He's making three hundred million for six years.
Right now, he's making fifteen points eight Next year his
(39:01):
contractor go up. They also backloaded. He's the most under
He's the most underpaid star on the late There's no question.
Speaker 5 (39:06):
He ranked number seven on MLB dot COM's MLB Network's
Top one hundred list.
Speaker 4 (39:11):
They hold him in the highest regard, and rightfully so.
The guys that hit or not a power hit. He's
a hitter first and a power hitter second. Three years
ago he was number nine. Last year, he was number eight.
This year he's number seven. Think about that. Okay, So
where does it end? I mean, I listen, Soto's not
four hundred and fifty million dollars better than Alvarez, but
you got to have the player that's willing to pay that, right,
meaning thirteen years. So do I think that forty five
(39:34):
to fifty mins if this continues, that he's a that
he's a two hundred and eighty million dollar guy for
six years, five years, I absolutely do. Will they pay it?
Speaker 10 (39:43):
No?
Speaker 4 (39:44):
No, At some point, don't you got to I don't
mean you got to step out of the mold, but
don't you got to step out of your comfort zone
just for just for one player, keep the player point
you have to At some point people what they said
the same. But how many times do we hear that
about Kyle Tom I get it, and they didn't. It
wasn't any they to get into negotiate because they knew
it was gonna be too high, right, So you know,
and if you get if you're paying yourd on for
(40:05):
a ten year deal, if somebody comes up pays him
a ten yure deal, it at forty forty five million
a year. If this assent continues, he'll be worth it.
He's at some point, do you just say, you know
what I got, I'm going to disrupt. I'm going to
disrupt what I normally do. I gotta pay him. He's
twenty eight years old. I understand, like, it's not time
he's thirty five. By the time he's thirty, it's a
new deal. Thirty one.
Speaker 5 (40:25):
Uh, he'll be He'll be thirty one when the contract expires,
So twenty twenty nine, he'll be a free agent. After
the twenty twenty eight season, he'll be a free agent.
Speaker 4 (40:34):
Four years at forty five million a year. One hundred
and eighty that's two hundred and twenty five million.
Speaker 5 (40:39):
Is that he'll He'll be thirty two going into the
twenty twenty nine season, so you could lock him up
four to five year deal at forty.
Speaker 4 (40:45):
Five a year. I would do it. By that time,
the salaries are going to go out. He stays healthy
and continues to rake like that's ninety ninety hundred and
eighty and at forty that's what. That's what? Two hundred
twenty five million for five that's at forty five a year. Yeah,
forty five five times is what twenty five?
Speaker 5 (41:02):
At some point, don't you don't you have to adapt
and adjust to the way you do business. You have
for at least one player you.
Speaker 4 (41:08):
Would have to pay. If you don't, then eventually you'll
have to start over again, like all franchises do. Because
think about it this way.
Speaker 5 (41:14):
As we get into seven o'clock hour, think about it
this way, Sean, what do we can continue to hear
about this young core that they've got down in the minors.
Bryce Matthews, Jacob Melton, cam Smith, whom I'm missing Zach Dezenzo,
Shay Whitam. All those guys are at some point gonna
be the next Alex Pregman, George Springer, Carlos Korea.
Speaker 4 (41:34):
You'll have free but you'll have a lot of space
because they'll be under their first contract.
Speaker 5 (41:40):
Right, So, if you're gonna lock up and Jose al
Tuve will be coming towards the end of his career,
you're gonna have to lock up a guy like Jordon Alvarez.
Speaker 4 (41:47):
You need him for that young core. You'd think you
would think, right, that's where you got to break your mold. No,
you don't have to shatter it, No, but you got
to You got to create a little space for for
for yourd on too workout, and then and then and
then take care of your business.
Speaker 5 (42:02):
And then at some point, yeah, then you're gonna have
Jeremy Panya coming into his quote unquote prime. You have
Yan your Diaz coming into his prime. Okay, there's a
lot of things that are gonna have to happen. I mean, again,
there'll be a couple of years from now, but there's
there's just some decisions that are gonna have to be made.
Speaker 4 (42:15):
When it comes to contracts and how you stand from
I don't think always and never or smart when you
when you're talking about sports, I think at times always
can't be always and never can't be never. So when
it comes to them, and I'm not you know, I don't.
I don't own the team, but at some point in time,
I would think if you want to keep part of.
Speaker 5 (42:30):
Your core, that'd be a good place to start. Would
He'd be the anchor man, Let's get in and not
not to talk about the movie. Let's get in the
seven o'clock hour right here on Sports Talk seven ninety.
How concerned are you with the state of the Astros outfield?
Speaker 4 (42:42):
That's next kd E Houston, HD two Houston.
Speaker 15 (42:47):
I Heart radio station, the Astros, the Rockets, rocketss befall
your home for your home teams.
Speaker 1 (42:55):
This is Sports Talk seven ninety. Saulsbury.
Speaker 4 (43:06):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 1 (43:07):
Sewn Salisbury.
Speaker 2 (43:11):
To usc truth, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (43:13):
Bryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (43:21):
Texans new offensive coordinator Nick Cayley was introduced to the
media yesterday. We got some audio that we will discuss
with him as well, talking Astros baseball, baseball season right
around the corner. Obviously, Ben Gammel was added last week.
(43:44):
He's going to be in that outfield. Chas McCormick spoke
to the media yesterday, Triple just let me know when
you have that audio ready, ready to go. Uh, this
is Shawn, this is Chas McCormick talking about mentioned a
little bit about Alex bragman An he talked about the
state of the Astra's outfield here.
Speaker 4 (44:02):
He is definitely we want to surpress some people.
Speaker 16 (44:05):
You know, obviously they think that field is not gonna
offensively do as much, but you know, I think we will.
Speaker 4 (44:09):
I think we'll have a great outfield.
Speaker 9 (44:11):
How are you feeling right now?
Speaker 4 (44:12):
Dan Mischief? We thought you were swinging with.
Speaker 17 (44:14):
That well and yeah, yeah, I feel good. I locked
it in this offseason. You know, last year was last year.
It's a new year, and uh, I feel good. Swing,
feels good, mentally, feel good, physically, feel really good.
Speaker 4 (44:24):
So I'm ready to go. I'm excell you.
Speaker 18 (44:25):
But as you looked back this winter at last season,
was there a mechanical thing that you saw was there?
Speaker 4 (44:32):
Was it more mental?
Speaker 19 (44:33):
Like?
Speaker 4 (44:34):
Where where did it kind of go a skew from
the offensively.
Speaker 13 (44:37):
There was.
Speaker 4 (44:37):
Yeah, there is a couple of things.
Speaker 20 (44:38):
I mean, I would say both mentally, mentally physically, but
ye know, I cleaned up my swing a little bit
and also just wanted to do a better job play
discipline wise.
Speaker 4 (44:48):
You know, swing the right pitches.
Speaker 20 (44:49):
When I swing the right pitches and have your good
direction to my swing, I should be in good shape.
Speaker 4 (44:54):
That's uh.
Speaker 5 (44:55):
Chas McCormick speaking to the media yesterday at Astroal spring
training triply, Can you do me a favorite? Can you
run the first ten seconds of that? Just real quick?
This is I want you to hear this one.
Speaker 4 (45:06):
Sean. Definitely. We want to surprise some people. You know.
Speaker 16 (45:08):
Obviously they think that Alfie is not gonna offensive. We
do as much, but you know, I think we will.
I think we'll have a great outfield.
Speaker 5 (45:14):
Okay, all right, Gotta love the confidence. Gotta love the
confidence from Chas mccorny. But the fact is that outfeel
is not very good and they're gonna go They're gonna
surprise the people.
Speaker 4 (45:25):
Listen. I hope Chasm's right, But we use the term
great a little too loosely these days in everything. Hey man,
what a great tackle? You mean the tackle that he
was supposed to make at the line of scrimmage. What
a great run his job. He gained two yards off tackle.
Oh man, what a great play. No, that's exactly what
(45:45):
he's paid to do. And to label, I would say
that Chaz probably would be the only person that's labeling
the spring training outfield. Yeah, that's great. Now they listen.
You never know what gets people going negative. If they
have three career years out there, then God bless them.
We'll sit back and say proved us wrong and then
then sustain it. But I don't think many people are
(46:08):
going In a matter of fact, I think most people
are going to say, what's the weakness of the Astros
and it losing Bregman and Tucker's obviously weakness, but they're
both Tucker being part of the outfit. I think most
people would say that, going in on paper, which doesn't
mean a hill of beans, that this is the bottom
third outfield offensively, I think that that's what you'd get
from most Yeah, that's that's the biggest weakness. Oh and
(46:31):
it's a glaring weakness, no question, You're seventy eight time
for it is, yes, And and the hitting from last
year and last year is last year. Yeah, but we're
going to find out if it's a trend or if
Chas is right. Now, the McCormick we got two years ago.
That's upgrade. You damn right it was, so we'll see.
Baseball is a crazy sport.
Speaker 10 (46:47):
Man.
Speaker 5 (46:48):
Well, here's your starting outfield as we look at it.
With Ben Gamble being added, I'm assuming he's going to
be fighting for a starting spot. But here is your
starting outfield in center field. Jake Myers hitting a whopping
two nineteen thirteen bombs with an ops of six forty six.
Chaz McCormick starting in right field. Last year he hit
(47:09):
two eleven five bombs with an ops of five seventy six.
Mauricio Dubond, you're starting left fielder ops is six fifty seven,
batting average two sixty nine with four bombs.
Speaker 4 (47:21):
Well, the one thing they are lacking is a little power.
Well do you say thirteen six and four? Uh, Chaz
had five, Jake Myers thirteen and thirteen five and twenty
two home runs from three spots. Yeah, now good. I'm
not sure i'd call it great, but there's put it
this way. There's nowhere to go but up.
Speaker 8 (47:46):
There.
Speaker 4 (47:46):
You go give me some see you later from our guy.
You have some see you laders, see you letter, give
me a seal you later? Real quick? What's what?
Speaker 14 (47:56):
What do you like?
Speaker 9 (47:56):
Better?
Speaker 4 (47:57):
See you later? Kiss it goodbye? You can kiss it gabye.
I like you can forget about it, and you can't
kiss that one goodbye. That must have been back to
back jobs or another. The number five train is left
Union Station. Blummer. Yeah, love it, love the energy. Hopefully
they'll provide forget about it. Wouldn't it be great if
(48:19):
we're sitting here in the middle of July and we're
saying two guys are having career years and the third
ones going the All Star Game. Wouldn't that be nice?
It would be nice. It's not gonna happen, No, but Brian,
let me dream. Yeah, they don't take away my dress.
You can kiss that goodbye. You can't kiss that one goodbye.
Speaker 9 (48:36):
You can kiss that.
Speaker 4 (48:37):
One good bye. I really love Bobby before, don't you.
Speaker 9 (48:43):
Man.
Speaker 5 (48:43):
Yeah, he's got I'm excited to have Steve Sparks back
on with us man every Monday during baseball season.
Speaker 4 (48:48):
That's our guy. Yeah, and general manager Dana Brown on
Wednesdays nine. Yeah. Good we've had a good run, shug,
and it's just it's just getting started. All I know
is get Jake Myers out of this outfield. I just
you know, I'm gonna go get it. A matter of fact,
give me some I'm gonna look for some prop bets
for Jacob this year. Well then you're just gonna burn
(49:09):
might as well just burn your money, Just burn him,
Just burn it. That's a hatred.
Speaker 9 (49:13):
Give it to me.
Speaker 4 (49:13):
No, that's good point. Why burning? And I just hand
it out right? Uh? What about did your your disdain
for Jacob's bat? Yes? Is is really hot? I don't know.
I mean, Trimpley and I are just trying to look
for some positive too.
Speaker 5 (49:29):
I mean, you know, let's look at it this way
seven and twenty twenty two with a five eighty two
ops two twenty seven and twenty twenty three with a Uh,
with an ops is six seventy eight and two nineteen
and twenty twenty four with a six forty six.
Speaker 4 (49:42):
Make you a deal, Make you a deal, He hits
two seventy No, I'm not done. No chance that happens though. Okay,
well then you're then you'll have no problem taking this
bat I'm taking it right now. Whatever it is. He
hits two seventy two sixty nine, it's too to give
it to sixty nine and below to seventy on the
number or above. You got to donate five thousand dollars
(50:05):
to my favorite charity or to Jake Jake Myers. Whatever
can we do? Five hundred? No, five thousand. I don't
have two thousand dollars. WOA. Before I even laid it
out there, you said, whatever it is, I'll take it.
Speaker 1 (50:17):
The parameters, the.
Speaker 4 (50:18):
Parameters, not the money. Five thousand. You know how much
I make here? But five hundred, five hundred bucks, I'll
do five hundred. We'll stop five. Well, who set the bet?
Speaker 9 (50:27):
Me or you me?
Speaker 4 (50:28):
Okay, Okay, okay, it's my game. Okay. You said he
has no shot at hitting too soon? He doesn't, So
why would you care about the money that's add to it?
If i'll add to it. If he hits less than
to twenty five, I'll match yours. Okay, five hundred, Okay,
(50:54):
that's fair, five hundred, five hundred bucks. Five hundred bucks not.
That's not making a million, that's not making you nervous
all year. I want you to be saying that gives me. Now,
I want it to be the last series. And he's
got to seven. He's just hitting on two seventies. If
he gets f to hit and he stays there, no,
he'll become you when you're peeling down your legs, Sean,
(51:15):
what am I gonna do? Seoan? What am I gonna do?
Speaker 5 (51:17):
He'll be I need a sighting bonus, dude, He'll be
hitting what too to twenty two and then you'll be
like one, Jake, I need a couple of hits, dog for.
Speaker 4 (51:25):
Five hundred, I'm willing to pay it hundred fair. So
I say over to twenty five and you say under
two seventy. Yeah, there is just not a chance in hell.
So I match your five hundred if he's under to
twenty twenty five, if he's over two seven, So two
seventy or above, dude, your your sears is far safer
(51:47):
than mine. The chances are on the one. Pay right,
where's you let's go. I'm doing it though. Yeah, that's
the difference. I believe that he's gonna hit two twenty
six in your host Okay, no, no, but you still win.
Speaker 9 (51:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (51:59):
Still I'm host because the All Star Games possibly yeah,
I uh, I'm host, but I just wanted to get
it because you got to do something else. If he
hits there's gotta be a third part of this.
Speaker 9 (52:10):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (52:11):
Let's say he's above two fifty. Okay, well, two fifty fifty,
you can't wear joggers for a month, Sean, what am
I gonna wear? Then you better find out. You better
take the five hundred you made, go buy something dress.
Fair enough a month? All right, I'm gonna come in
with some bleededs. That's fine. You cannot wear damn yoga
(52:31):
pants anymore?
Speaker 5 (52:32):
No, I don't know. We're right, We're no, don't bring
that back. But but yeah, month, No, that's fine. Fair
enough because I wear joggers in here every morning, right,
That's why that's a lot.
Speaker 4 (52:41):
That's like saying that you love candy, you can't eat
it for six buths, right, exactly, So fair enough to
go buy some dress. If he's below, if he's if
he's if he's would I say it's gotta be two
fifty or between two fifty and two seventy for you
to not wear joggers. Correct fifty, yes, right, okay, And
then it's above two seventy you not only can't wear joggers. No,
(53:03):
I won't make you do that. If it's above two
seventy to five hundred, below two twenty five, it's the
my match it. Yeah. If it's between, it's below to fifty,
nothing happens.
Speaker 9 (53:13):
Right.
Speaker 4 (53:13):
If it's above two fifty, no joggers for you for
a month. I sound like a dad talking to his kid.
No dessert for you for a month, joggers? Right? Yeah,
the second half, none of it's going to happen. Dude,
I'm to pay five hundred and your host nothing, You
will do nothing. You have no stress when it goes
to it, you know, talking about money and donating. If
you need help with your money, what to do with it?

Speaker 5 (55:41):
Time for the steak out here on the Sean Salisbury Show. Sean,
Brian and Tripley with you this morning, All Star Break

They are thirty four and twenty one at the break astros,
(56:02):
pitchers and catchers continuing their workouts this morning.
Speaker 4 (56:04):
Gordy is gonna join us live from West Palm Beach.
Speaker 5 (56:07):
Texans new offensive coordinator Nick Kayley introduced yesterday to the media.
Speaker 4 (56:15):
What are you hearing out there?
Speaker 9 (56:16):
Man?
Speaker 4 (56:17):
A lot? I heard sources close to me said. Bregman's
gonna sign with the Red Sox that's always the good one.
When sources close, do you tell you after after Yeah,
like twelve hours after, eight hours after? Yeah, I got you,
bab Yeah, I got you covered. That's good. That's what
I'm hearing out there.
Speaker 5 (56:36):
Okay, all right for the uh stakeout our good buddy.
Uh Steve Kerr, Well, really, this is Friday, and I'm happy. Okay,
it's Valentine's Day. We're happy. You know, they got some
love ballards as you call it. It could be a
love ballad that's playing on the music and you want
(56:56):
to bring Steve Kerr up?
Speaker 4 (56:58):
Yeah? Is it how good a coach he is? Or
is this something to do with politics? Well, of course
what he says you can't resist it. Kje.
Speaker 5 (57:08):
Yeah, he had some things to say. It's I wouldn't
say it's it's it's not politics. Surprisingly, obviously we know
everything that's been made out with Nico. Uh not Nico Collins.
He plays for the Texans, Nico the general manager in Dallas.
What the hell is his last name? Nico Dallas Mavericks,
(57:28):
Nico Harrison. There you go, Nico Harrison. He has some
things to say about Nico Harrison and what he's been
going through since trading Luca.
Speaker 4 (57:36):
This is this is this good old happy Steve Kerr.
Speaker 18 (57:41):
You know, I I generally never really liked to comment
on other team's trades, so I don't think I'll talk
about it in terms of, you know, what Dallas did,
what the Lakers did in that regard. I have been
following the you know, the stuff with the fans, you know,
death threats for Nico. I mean, it's it's brutal. It's
(58:02):
really it's really sad, and and you know, you kind
of feel for everybody, because I mean, it's a very
emotional business and it's what what drives the businesses. You know,
the fans obviously love this stuff. And and if you're
a you know, a MAVs fan and you're heartbroken, that's
(58:22):
that's that's really difficult to you know, to to handle.
And so that's what I'm kind of mostly interested in,
is just you know, seeing seeing that and you know,
seeing Nico go through stuff that he shouldn't have to
go through. It's it's all, it's all really kind.
Speaker 4 (58:42):
Of surreal, to be honest, all right. So my whole
point in this is he was asked about his answer.
Speaker 5 (58:48):
He was actually asked about a game plan and he
turned it into something about Nico Harrison. Now, the death
threats and everything like that pathetic, absolutely uncalled for.
Speaker 4 (58:59):
Well, it's it's not only it's disgraceful.
Speaker 8 (59:01):
It is.
Speaker 4 (59:03):
But if you like your sports team that much you're
gonna put death threats on the guy who made him,
then you're not really a real fan, you're just a punk.
Speaker 5 (59:10):
He But also in the same sense, the death threats
and everything like that, the criticism and the people questioning
that move, it's one hundred percent warranted.
Speaker 4 (59:18):
Oh yeah, and did But I think Steve Kerr meant that.
And like you listen, Steve Kerr can be an irritating subject.
Needless to say, he's been a really damn good coach
and he's got an opinion on a lot of things.
But I think when he said, hey, the fans is
an emotional business. The fans are going through this and
I understand it. I think that he understands the emotion
(59:38):
and why they can criticize and you can criticize without
telling somebody you want to kill him, Okay, And I
think that's where Steve Kerr And so I think the
message is right. How you you know, we translated. But
he's right. It's it's disgraceful the death threats over a
sporting If you don't luke it, didn't you know, LUKEA
didn't want it, fans didn't want it, But gonna turn
(59:59):
around to kill the guy because he made a decision
based on his career and what he thought was best
for the Mavericks, even though everybody else didn't. But death
threat is just disgraceful. And Steve, he's one hundred percent
correct about that. As far as fans, they and he
said they drive the business and that it is emotional
and they are critical and complimenting critical. I never have
a problem, but they've gone beyond making it personal. They've
gone making it where the guy's got to I would
(01:00:21):
imagine have extra security around him over a trade. If
you like sports that much, sorry to tell you just
enough that you're threatened to kill somebody, even though most
don't have the balls even but they wouldn't mention it twice,
but they do because they can hide behind a computer,
keyboard to phone. Is if if you love sports that much, now,
(01:00:42):
if you've bet ten million dollars on the trade, then
you're an idiot. Okay, if you said that was going
to come down you lost them, then then that's your problem.
But just to be a fan because you hate it
and to give death threats you love sports too much,
Find a hobby, find out I played it and didn't
love it that much. Yeah, okay, and I love sports
not at the expense of being disgraceful to somebody else
who made a trade. And we can criticize all we want.
(01:01:04):
We criticized Jerry Joe. People who make stupid deals all
the time or don't make enough deals, criticize here in
this city for a deal you did or didn't make.
But I can tell you this, death threats when it
comes to that, best you just find something else to do.
And I'm talking about the people who make the threats,
not the guy you make the threats against.
Speaker 5 (01:01:18):
So the way that I perceived this, and maybe it's
just because I can't stand Steve Kerr, but the way
that I perceived it is again, I'm gonna separate the
death threat stuff because that's just there's no place for that.
But I also feel like in these comments he made
the fans out to be the bad guy.
Speaker 4 (01:01:35):
Of course, and as he put it on bro, if
he put it. The one thing he did, he put
a blanket statement over fans, and fans quite frankly, most
fans wouldn't give death threats. Most fans are good and
and sane. Yeah, sane. He's speaking to the ones that
aren't saying and they shouldn't have to go through it.
But I guess that's how you translate. You're right, and
I know that's how I perceive it. And but again,
(01:01:55):
like I said, well his history, he can be a
little bit he just haddie, yeah, just yea dude.
Speaker 5 (01:02:00):
I mean so, I'm more interested in seeing how Nico
works through all this blah blah blah, Like, come on, dude,
they asked you about a freaking game plan, like shut up.
Speaker 4 (01:02:09):
Well, yeah he has to. He he likes to crowbar
certain stuff in there. He always does, always, has no
question about that. But Nico does not deserve this.
Speaker 5 (01:02:18):
No, not that the death threats. Yes, and I would
have and fire Nico signs. Hey man, like you brought
that upon yourself with that stupid ass trade.
Speaker 4 (01:02:28):
As long as they're safe and you Yeah, but death threats,
Like I said, there's a lot of fans that love sports.
I don't love it that much. Yes, they're trying to
tell you.
Speaker 5 (01:02:38):
A couple of obviously some Dallas Mavericks fans saw this
and had some comments on it. One guy said, every
every time I see a Steve Kerr press conference, I
understand more and more as to why Michael Jordan punched him.
Speaker 4 (01:02:49):
They got in a fight to practice practice and Jordan
hit him in the face. Yeah. Uh that that guy's
exactly right, he is right. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:02:55):
Another dude said, uh, no, one is actually giving death
threats to Nico. We just want him fired and banned
for life from Texas for doing the worst trade in
the history of the NBA.
Speaker 4 (01:03:05):
That's all that. And that criticism is okay, Yeah by
the fans, it's been rightfully so. And the one thing
about I mean Steve Kerr, you know that if I'm
giving him benefit dout on hopeful the way he thought that,
it's saying something because there's very few things that Steve
Kerr says that I like to listen to.
Speaker 8 (01:03:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:03:19):
Another guy said, this is such a Steve Kerr take.
Oh it is. There's no doubt, that's a fact.
Speaker 9 (01:03:25):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:03:26):
Seven one three, two one two five seven ninety is
the number to join. What do you expect from Forrest
Whitley this season.
Speaker 4 (01:03:33):
That's next.
Speaker 5 (01:03:36):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued. Valentine's Day, It's our favorite holiday.
I don't even know why we're working today, mean national holiday, federal?
Speaker 4 (01:03:46):
Well, who are you talking about about? Working to day? Yeah?
Good point?
Speaker 5 (01:03:49):
No points seven one three two one two five seven
ninety is the number to join.
Speaker 4 (01:03:56):
John is a shoot her out and about this morning?
Or no, shoot her When he heard your voice.
Speaker 5 (01:04:01):
Gosh, dang it, triple tripley. Get him to call back.
He sounds like Mickey Mouse, the bad connection. I don't
know John on cricket wireless.
Speaker 4 (01:04:08):
Or what he had? A helium balloon? Yeah, not good?
Not good?
Speaker 2 (01:04:13):
Man.
Speaker 4 (01:04:16):
Well, you know, tell John to figure out his service
next time. I woult that. We'll see if it's here.
I got him tripley. Let's see.
Speaker 5 (01:04:22):
Here we go, John, you're there, I'm here all right, now,
you got good service? What's happening?
Speaker 10 (01:04:28):
Hey?
Speaker 8 (01:04:30):
Hey, by the way, shooter ran into the other room,
so I got to round him up later.
Speaker 4 (01:04:34):
Why you don't like you don't like good singing or what?
Speaker 9 (01:04:38):
Come on?
Speaker 8 (01:04:38):
Man, you're the only one that makes his ears drooped
and he kind of like looks like he looks like something.
Speaker 4 (01:04:45):
Looks like I was gonna say, it looks like exactly,
looks like damn.
Speaker 9 (01:04:49):
It, what I do?
Speaker 4 (01:04:50):
This time Brian's singing again. The shooter treats Brian's voice
like most dogs do fireworks. Sorry, yeah, okay, Hey, I
think the Astros.
Speaker 8 (01:05:07):
I think string training is going to be interesting. I mean,
they didn't get Santander's so I mean, but uh, you
know the outfield, I think there's gonna be some you
know in the mix. I think it's like Taylor Trammel
and Ben Gammele and uh the one they say.
Speaker 4 (01:05:21):
It sounds like Trammel and Gamble. Trammel and Gamble both lefties.
Hey they're both lefties too, how about that?
Speaker 16 (01:05:28):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (01:05:29):
But uh and then they say pedro leone. You know,
he has a lot of talent, they say, but he
just doesn't stay healthy.
Speaker 4 (01:05:36):
But uh, I think i'd be interesting.
Speaker 8 (01:05:38):
I like to see like a good uh see who
wins out in the battle because I could see like
two players squeezing into the outfield regular you know, out
of that mix. Maybe, uh, depending on what happens in
the spring. But uh, I'd like to see some competition
in the spring.
Speaker 4 (01:05:54):
I think that'll be good.
Speaker 8 (01:05:55):
I think that'll be healthy.
Speaker 4 (01:05:56):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, and uh and.
Speaker 8 (01:06:00):
Then you know, like on the uh Texans, just shifting
gears a little bit. You know, they did the introduction
and uh, I do I do like some of the
comments where they said, you know that the thing was
slow walk because he was just you know, beholden to that,
to to the offense, you know, the Kubiak type of offense.
(01:06:22):
And they said, yeah, they want a better mix of plays,
you know, not just so be so dedicated to the runs.
So I'd like to see him open it up. And
if this guy can do it, he's got he got
an interesting background. I mean, I'd like to have gone,
you know, somebody more proven, but you know, I'm willing
to give this guy a shot and see what happens
because he's got an interesting mix in his background and
(01:06:43):
maybe he could mix it up a little better than
what we had certainly, and we'll.
Speaker 4 (01:06:47):
See what happens. So I just wanted to time chime
in on that appreciates John Joy weekend Man. Yeah, yeah,

walk frigging love like.
Speaker 1 (01:07:13):
John's usually on top.
Speaker 4 (01:07:14):
Of his pronunciation annunciations, Bobby slow. I'm gonna miss slow
just for the pronunciations. It went from Bobby Slovak box
slow walk. That's what your dog shooters taking a slow walk, Johnny.
You gotta love him, though, don't. You're right? He's always
I'm okay. He mispronounces what's well, But I love that.
(01:07:36):
That's that was a new version of the Bobby slow walk.
That is classic. Man, car callers and listeners are price.
Speaker 5 (01:07:44):
Is it spelled s l O w o k like
walk as in some Chinese food? Or is it slow
walk like walking.
Speaker 4 (01:07:50):
W A L Put it on the board slow Yeah,
slow walks like that? Where is it there? On the call?
On the calls from number four, Bread comments slow walk.
That's a classic Bobby slow walk, Dude, Bobby slow. I
love it, man, I love it.
Speaker 5 (01:08:09):
Nick Nick Cayley gonna be uh the new offensive coordinator
with t J.
Speaker 4 (01:08:14):
Strauss. M uh huh. I hope Nick Kelly does a
good job. Hey, Brian, that's John said, that's what you're singing.
Does it scatters his brain?
Speaker 5 (01:08:21):
That's fine. It's all Bobby slow Walk. Baby good, add
that to the list.
Speaker 4 (01:08:28):
What's I hate on? Bobby slow Walk? What's up for us?
Speaker 9 (01:08:31):
Hey?
Speaker 4 (01:08:32):
What's up guy?
Speaker 21 (01:08:33):
Mister mister Challas Burrow?
Speaker 4 (01:08:35):
Well, how you doing? Yeah? Exactly classic. I heard that
the minute, at least two minutes.
Speaker 21 (01:08:45):
I as should be up their studio in a couple
of hours to drop off and pick up some goodies
from my buddy Doug Pike here a little while.
Speaker 4 (01:08:51):
Are you bringing us anything?
Speaker 1 (01:08:54):
Well, if I know, what do you mean?
Speaker 4 (01:08:56):
If you would have known we're the same Stay radio station,
So what you would you get? You're bringing something to Dougie.
Speaker 21 (01:09:03):
Actually actually actually both Actually he made rep it in
y'all's face.
Speaker 13 (01:09:07):
So don't get me.
Speaker 4 (01:09:08):
Don't hate on me if you don't share.
Speaker 9 (01:09:09):
What what do you what?
Speaker 4 (01:09:10):
Are you bringing him? Well, no, I'm a I'm one
of his collars on it on the weekend. Yeah, yes, I'm.
Speaker 21 (01:09:17):
Bringing in some uh some venics and pans sauce, Colm,
couple of biscuits.
Speaker 5 (01:09:21):
Come on, man, Doug was literally Dave Forrest Wild In
all honesty, Doug literally just popped into our studio about
ten minutes ago and mentioned nothing.
Speaker 4 (01:09:30):
So you're getting you're bringing him some nice venison and he.
Speaker 21 (01:09:35):
Though he doesn't even know it yet, I just toold him.
Speaker 4 (01:09:36):
I'm bringing him a goodie. That's nice. I guess you know,
I guess, Sean, I guess we got to have an
outdoor show.
Speaker 10 (01:09:41):
Now.
Speaker 4 (01:09:41):
Yeah, I guys, stay out guns and golf colds and
golf courses and fishing polls and all that deer sausage.
What are we doing? You're talking about a guy who's
cornered the market.
Speaker 5 (01:09:55):
Dougie fresh right, Doug Pike show every Saturday Sunday, I
think from eight to ten, every morning.
Speaker 21 (01:10:00):
Seven to seven to ten Saturday, h ten, old.
Speaker 4 (01:10:02):
Son, there you go, good plug, I.
Speaker 13 (01:10:06):
Know, you know.
Speaker 21 (01:10:08):
And Alex Bregman real quick, you know, uh you know,
I get the generational money, want the aa V and
all that, But when you look at taxes versus the astros,
what he got, you know, is that separation enough to
sacrifice your legacy and your name hanging up in the rafters.
Speaker 4 (01:10:25):
I mean, I just I thought I knew Bregman. I
thought he was gonna be a bagwell bigio too, big guy.
But what's y'all's view on the money versus the legacy?
Appreciate it for us all asked this for Thanks Gump,
he called mesels love for us coming, and we're gonna,
We're gonna know, we're gonna do. We're gonna hoodwink and
bamboozle dug stuff. We're just gonna beat him the punch forrest.
(01:10:48):
Thanks brother. He he makes a great point. But most
of the time, I hate to say this, in this
day and age of sports, money's gonna trump legacy. And
there are some who probably think that Alex Bregman's put
enough legacy here to end up in the rafters already.
Yeah has he No? Okay, so since he's not a
life and he's not the rafters, so it comes to
(01:11:10):
it that the truth is it you want to You
obviously want to do both. Al two day is getting
paid and gonna statues and raw and jerseys and all
that stuff hanging from any rafter he wants. I would say,
for from the guys I've been around that the money's all.
I won't say always, the most of the time it
go money first. Legacy. Yeah, it's different era now you
(01:11:32):
asked that question twenty five thirty years ago. It might
be different, but it might be. But the money, the
money's gonna come around and always be at the top
of the list when it comes to this, at least
in the majority of the time. Yeah, it's money, man,
Money's going to trounce anything these days, right, I mean, legacy,
unfortunately is not paying the bills unless you're a guy
(01:11:52):
like I don't mean it like the you know, I
got to be able to pay my bills, but the
money and the ego of how you're getting paid or
to some just as important one.
Speaker 5 (01:12:03):
Yeah, it's it's unless you're Jose Altuve or Jose Ramirez.
You look at the team friendly deals that both of
those guys have taken. Some other guys Kara left, Springer left,
Bregman left obviously, Garret Cole was probably never going to
come back to the to the Astros. He did his
two years here, did really great things, and he went
and got absolutely paid.
Speaker 4 (01:12:26):
So if legacy mattered, certainly, I mean, Dan, it does
to some. I mean what it happens is you want
the money and at the end you hope the legacy
matches right and you hope it's there. But you know,
a guy like Verlander's Hall of Fame pitcher one, two, three, four, five,
teams twice with the Astros once in New York, once
at his new place and now and then started Detroit.
(01:12:46):
Yeah then, I mean so in truth, the rare part
the the aberration is the stay for the legacy.
Speaker 9 (01:12:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:12:53):
The norm is leave for the money, right and hope. Now,
if you get then then the the third part is
do you want the money and the legacy? And you're
fortunate to get both and those guys like al tuo
v and Ramirez. In order to get the money in
the legacy, usually you gotta be willing to take less.
And al Twove is underpaid. Yeah, and so is Jose
Ramires by baseball standards. Yes, so both of them. Yep.
Speaker 5 (01:13:14):
Seven pet three two point two five, seven ninety is
the number to join. We'll continue to talk about the
Houston Ashers next right here on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Aqueduct plumbing locally owned, family own and operated, friendly, honest, transparent.
If you're a homeowner and you have some issues with
your plumbing, you need to trust a contractor. You need
to depend on that contractor when they come out and
do some work on your home. That is aqueduct plumbing.
(01:13:36):
They've been doing it forever right here in the city
of Houston, and they are the best when it comes
to quite literally anything you need. All jobs large or small,
foster repairs, drainage issues, tankless water heaters, tunnel jobs, whole
house repiping, leaked detection, remodels, sewer jobs. They even take
on commercial and residential new construction. With that whole house repiping,

that's a big one. They have done thousands and thousands
and thousands of these jobs. And they install PEX piping

have peace of mind. That's your most valuable asset, which
is your home will not be without water or subject
to very costly restoration resulting from leaks. Check them out
online Aqueduct Plumbingcompany dot com. They are all over this city.

you are in the city. It's right here in Houston.

We want to win.
Speaker 1 (01:14:37):
Sean Salisbury continues on seven ninety.
Speaker 22 (01:14:40):
Hey, Brian, before you go back to the phone lines
and whatnot, yep. We had a caller as his name
was Wan. He just wanted to say hello to you
guys and thank you for doing what be due every morning.
That's wacher guy.
Speaker 6 (01:14:52):
Was that one?
Speaker 5 (01:14:52):
That's one that calls in from the shop, he said,
is a forkliff always shuts down because of my singing?
Speaker 4 (01:14:57):
So love one. Hey likes your dad jokes on, Well,
oh he does, he does. Joe's right, we love one.
Uh well, I hope he calls one more time sometime
during the next week. One more time, Yeah, good tea. Yeah,
one more time, yeah, one, two or three? Yeah, you
get it. One and one. I actually think he's wonderful,
(01:15:19):
isn't sheet nuts?
Speaker 9 (01:15:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:15:21):
She lovely is wonderful? Yeah yeah, yeah yeah, funk railroad.
Yeah you're on the right path, he said, isn't she lovely?
Isn't she one? Dufuh? Yeah, there you go. That's right.
I can't believe what God is done. Yeah you see
what you feel me? Yeah? Ship it up to Boston. Yeah,
(01:15:44):
cud is that drop kick Murphy's man? Yeah, yes, that's right.
They're not They're a good thing. They're not Irish. Drop
Kick Murphy's not at all. Yeah, not at all.
Speaker 8 (01:15:53):
Man.
Speaker 4 (01:15:54):
Has it set in yet, Bragman no longer here. I
I had geared up for it in September two years ago. Yeah,
it would have been I would have I would have
been more surprised how he had come back than if
he left left it here just because the money. Yeah,
you knew. I've had a pretty good idea he was leaving.
I think we all did. Yeah, there was no doubt
now I think, well I said there was a little bit.
(01:16:15):
It became a little doubt down the streets. Yeah, it's
doctor Connord James wants to talk about Bregman. What's up,
Connord James.
Speaker 12 (01:16:22):
Yeah, So I've been thinking about this issue about Breakman
and pay and about what he's getting in Boston, and
I actually think it was a better deal to stay here.
So uh So, first, I see teams now being more
(01:16:42):
careful with their money. Perhaps they feel like they're hitting
the ceiling now where they can't afford a lot of
these salaries that these players are demanding, because you still
got to have fans in the seats, and of course
every ticket is marked up. Well, if you have to
(01:17:03):
mark up your tickets, then the tickets are even higher.
And then all of a sudden, you're not having fans
in the seat because you priced everybody out. Now, Brakeman, Okay,
I don't see how this Boston Red Sox is a
better deal because, okay, he's got one hundred and twenty
(01:17:24):
million for three years. Okay, but from what I read,
the first two years, the Red Sox have an opt out.
Now we already know he's got a swollen elbow and
he's getting older. It's it's very conceivable that he gets
(01:17:44):
injured again and then that money's gone with the Astros.
I believe that money was guaranteed.
Speaker 4 (01:17:53):
Conor James.
Speaker 5 (01:17:53):
The the opt out that they have is Bregman has
the opt out, not the Red Sox. To the first
two years player opt out not not the Red Sox.
And he also got his elbows fixed, so he can
leave after this year. If he has a great year,
he can leave after next year. If he has two
great years and go get paid. It's his opt out,
(01:18:15):
and that money is guaranteed if he decides to stay there.
If they cut him, you know, if they're not good,
I don't even know how much we do that. If
they let him go, what do you call him?
Speaker 4 (01:18:23):
DFA him Still he's still getting a hundred twenty million dollars.
But if he wants to leave because he thinks there's
bigger money, so to me, no disrespect to here, because
we'd love to have him here. This is a far
better deal than he was going to get. He won.
He won the deal now, the fans and being here
in legacy and all that. But for one hundred and
twenty million on three years, there's still room for another contract.
(01:18:45):
He's playing out, he's playing in a ballpark he plays
great in and he got opt outs after one and two.
He's never getting an opt out here. This deals better
for him.
Speaker 12 (01:18:53):
Well okay, well then okay, So please answer my question
about are we hitting a ceiling with how much teams
can actually pay? Because he's not an Aaron Judge. He's
a damn good third baseman, but he's not a monster
like Eric Judge. So I'd like to hear about the
(01:19:14):
salaries and the other thing too that we have to remember. Okay,
Bragman's going to be three years older at the end
of his contract. Do you really think a team is
going to pick him up three years for now and
make up the rest of that two hundred million that
he really wanted.
Speaker 4 (01:19:34):
At thirty four years old. He'll be thirty one in March.
At thirty four years old, if he plays really well
and stays healthy the next three years, he will absolutely
get another. It won't be a ten year deal, it
won't be an eight year deal, another three year deal.
If he plays really all start to caliber baseball. Oh yeah,
And that would mean if in order to get to
the two hundred million, would somebody pay him eighty million
(01:19:56):
over the next three years if he plays like an
All Star that the question is absol or The answers absolutely,
they will, because in three years, salaries are going through
the roof. And I'll tell you this, Conrod James that
I've been saying this since nineteen ninety in two thousand
and twenty ten, where's the ceiling? When does it end?
The answer right now is never pe And we talked
(01:20:18):
about you just paid one so to seven hundred and
fifty million. The Mets fans are still going to show
up if they're winning. If they just are somebody you
give it up. Somebody else is gonna pay. Yes, they've
had Are they out pricing the person who can't go
to but one game a year? No question, But when
does it stop. Well, baseball doesn't care because they don't
have a sour cap. First off, if you want it
to stop a little bit, put a sour cap on it.
(01:20:40):
They have the luxury tax, but they don't have a
sour cap. You could pay a guy take ten billion
dollars if you want, but it always trickles down. Somebody's
going to pay for it. And the fans, unfortunately, don't
have a seat at the table.
Speaker 9 (01:20:52):
No they do not.
Speaker 4 (01:20:53):
No, I'll tell you you got one. They don't give
you one. If they gave you one, they'd be charging
you two dollars for a beer every night. Don't get
a seat at the tables fan, and you never will unfortunately,
which means all of us. You're you're not going to decide.
They're gonna keep going because because the greatest, the greatest
motivator in the world for many is cold hard cash money.
(01:21:14):
That's exactly right, bread cheddar iron uh stat Benji's yes,
notes notes, that's exactly right. A bunch of them Chad
shed yeah yeah, who had like a little shed on
their walk? Yeah? Nice? Yeah called by you pass? Okay,
(01:21:38):
that's money. It is whoa whoa what what? While you're
talking about my guys, and that wasn't me. That was
somebody else on the line. That was my guys that
asked whatever whatever whatever that you know, Hey, man, get
out a couple of bassos. Men, it's Valentine's Day.
Speaker 19 (01:21:51):
I gotta go get my my my uh boys and
like that.
Speaker 4 (01:22:00):
That's not my boys as the streets to ask put
respect on the way to go get my lady. Latina,
many Latina.
Speaker 8 (01:22:07):

Speaker 4 (01:22:08):

Speaker 2 (01:22:57):
To usc true longtime friend, Sewn Salisbury.
Speaker 1 (01:23:00):
Ryan Lima, go Lobo. This is the Sean Sells very show.
Speaker 5 (01:23:08):
At thirty four and twenty one. Astro's pitchers and catchers
working out this morning. Chris Gordy is gonna join us
live from West Palm Beach with a couple of updates.
Speaker 4 (01:23:16):
Joe A.
Speaker 5 (01:23:16):
Spot is set to speak to the media at eight thirty,
so we'll get Gordy after that, get his thoughts on
that and what some of the squad looked like yesterday.
Texas new offensive coordator Nick Cayley was introduced yesterday to
the media. What interests you more sean Valentine's Day, Joe
spot is speaking to the media or Nick Cayley spoke
(01:23:38):
to the media yesterday, Everything but Valentine's Day.
Speaker 4 (01:23:43):
I go in the order of give me a spot
of first because they're their regular season football is great,
but that's I can you know, man, here's this off
season with the draft will come. I have pretty good idea.
What kay you know? You can I can pretty much
say what the press conference gonna sound like. We're gonna
do some stuff. We're gonna be a aggressive, got a
great quarterback. We're building something together. I'm grateful to Demiico.
(01:24:05):
I think that that this is a special place to
be and I'm so grateful for the opportunity and and
got a lot of We've got a lot of work
to do this offseason, that's it. And then good news.
We've got to you know, valuate players and we got
some stuff to do. But what a great place to
be and this is a I'm blessed by the opportunity. Okay,
so that'll hold us over into the off season and
(01:24:29):
then uh as we go through the draft and free
agency and the draft and all that, and then around
Junior July, we'll say, Okay, how do we think that
the coordinators going. So I'm not real worried about that.
This will be a feel good you know, that's of
course it will be right new into town. But the
other part will be and if they ask him, well,
what do you think about last offense? Long, we haven't
having a chance to evaluate it yet. We're all gonna
(01:24:50):
look at the tape and you'll get that, yeah, with
the spot and we're talking about who's there, Yeah, and
it's time. This is a it'd be the same as
we were talking about preseason preseason football all the or
off season early off season astros. You'd want to hear
preseason football a you're getting ready to roll. But in
preseason football during that's right in the heart of baseball season.
(01:25:10):
So give me Joe a spot as press conference voluntine.
Valentine's Day for all those who love it great and
I think it's it's it's awesome. I'm not a It
doesn't move the needle you try to, you know, for
me back in the fourth grade, it did. But it's
it's great. And it sounds like we're haters. I'm not hater.
It's just it's it's we we've crowbaught a holiday and
(01:25:30):
it's okay. It's fun.
Speaker 5 (01:25:32):
Hater is for our our Monday shows. Yeah yeah you yeah, yeah, no, no,
it's us. Well yeah, that's a good calls us. I mean,
you know, it's good to hate once in a while.
I don't hate on Valentine's Day. It's just not a
It doesn't move the needle for me. And when it
comes to holidays, it's okay, it's fine. I don't think
twice about it now. I mean, but there's some out
(01:25:52):
there who this is the this is the holiday of
the year.
Speaker 4 (01:25:56):
I haven't seen any proposals just yet. It is to
break your relationship today, is it for who if one
day breaks the relationship, I got to get out if
I was you know, if I was married. Man, No,
I'm kidding. I understand why it matters to the ladies
want to feel. But it's not a guy. It's not
a lover's holiday. That that's the part. I guess. I'm saying,
(01:26:17):
this is a this is a female holiday, and that's okay,
that's okay, But it is a female holiday. Am I correct? Yes,
you are correct? Right? So do you get one of
those a male holiday? Yeah? But I know they say,
what that's what's that? Yeah, March, that's not real. But
(01:26:39):
I mean it's real. But it's not like it's okay
to be on something. Let the but it's okay for
the ladies to have their day. I agree. But when
we say it's a lover so, no, it's a it's
a female HOLDI and rightfully so they they they deserve
more than a day. And there's no question. Am I kissing?
Enough asked?
Speaker 9 (01:26:53):
Right now?
Speaker 8 (01:26:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:26:54):
But the truth is the truth is is it? I
just it doesn't I like Hell, I like Saint Patrick's
Day even better because you have a beer and everybody's
and that's now, that's the two way holiday. The ladies
like it. The guy's like, I almost feel the obligation
of oh what if I don't get the right gift.
Don't you ever feel like that over your years of
like it's kind of you can guilt trip yourself into
(01:27:17):
this too, right, there's no doubt. But if it's you know,
here's the way you got to look at it. If
it's important to your lady, if you have one or
your guy in your case, you know, your dude, if
it's if it's important to them, then we got to
make it important. Yeah, right, No, but it's true. If
it's a board to somebody, Listen, Brian, step out, step
(01:27:38):
out of your selfish comfort zone, your shallow, selfish self,
and give Brian, you a trailer, You a trailer or
a truck. Be the truck. Don't be the trailer. Pull
them along, let's go, don't don't don't have to be
pulled along with this, Brian, shallow? How man? Well, look man,
it's it's like, uh, you know, want all the benefits
(01:27:58):
of what when it comes at the end of a
night with a lady, But you don't want to sacrifice, Brian,
You don't want to sacrifice for the ladies. I mean,
you can't blame gravity for falling in love. Yeah, that's
a half way to happen, A short way to happen.
Speaker 8 (01:28:16):
There.
Speaker 5 (01:28:16):
I wonder if Bobby slow Walk is going to be
celebrating Valentine's Day to day he got?
Speaker 4 (01:28:20):
Is he married? I don't know, you got a lady
Bobby's slack. He might be. He's in Miami now, right, Yeah, yeah,
so let's let Bobby slow Walk. Let him go, bro
let him, let him, let him, let him eat, let
him cook. That didn't sound right. No, I did not
let him know. Yeah, I mean, just let him eat,
like let the big dog eat. You know what I'm saying.
(01:28:40):
I love when my computer just goes to you know what.
I want to thank you. I want to thank Memphis
last night. You want some money? Come on?
Speaker 11 (01:28:48):
So?
Speaker 4 (01:28:48):
Okay, So now six and a half point favorites on
the road at South Florida. Damn yeah, they were playing
South Florida. The idea of a bet Brian just to win, Okay,
that's where that's that's where the amateur.
Speaker 1 (01:29:05):
Just creeped in.
Speaker 4 (01:29:06):
Okay, you're not an amateur much, but with this, with this,
that that's saying, right, there tells me you bet all
the big games. You bet the big game because it's
on TV. Just what that money I want is gonna cash?
Just fine?
Speaker 1 (01:29:20):
I love it?
Speaker 4 (01:29:20):
Said, Oh, well it's Memphis and South Florida, Solida team
in the country. You should well, isn't that? Would you
rather become your man? Thanks Memphis, your ranked fourteenth or
sixt a half point famite can't beat South Florida. The
whole object of bet betting is to win. Yeah, I
(01:29:40):
mean if you're if you have if they winning matters
to you. I guess I like money, right, So like
I said, like like the significance of it was, it
lessens because it was South Florida. That money still cashes
in Florida too. I know you never go broke taking
a prophety. Somebody told you that one day, didn't No, No,
that was from me. Yeah I made that one, So.
Speaker 8 (01:30:03):
There you go.
Speaker 4 (01:30:04):
But I just wanted to thank Memphis's going sixty five.
Speaker 1 (01:30:07):
That was a sure bet of the night.
Speaker 4 (01:30:09):
This branch on, that's the perfect pace to say it again.
It was the most sure bet of the night. Oh
that's how you make them. Oh so sure? And I
know what you like, I know where to find the
sure bet he makes me money, I thought, or something
on somebody. No, they don't know. Yeah, the forty teen
parley and hope that they all land. That's fine, and Daddy,
I wanted to win last time much. I put it
(01:30:30):
down on that I felt I can't. I can't confirm
here tonight. It's less than ten thousand and more than
twenty thousand, twenty twenty dollars. It's more than that and
less than ten thousand, so somewhere in between.
Speaker 5 (01:30:45):
You probably bet. I've known you and your betting. Yeah,
you probably bet. I would say you bet fifty on them?
Speaker 4 (01:30:52):
Really, that's all you're giving men? Yeah, I would I
celebrate that much if it was fifty dollars bet. Probably
I like you because the winds like whatever. But it's
but if it's as blatant a pick as you said,
wouldn't I be more knowing I'm gonna win? Yeah? Okay, Well,
so you bet probably two thousand thousand. WHOA looks like
(01:31:15):
I just simply thanking Memphis for taking care of it.
It looks like Bobby slow Walk is married by it.
For Bobby, well, then I'm sure that him and is
my hay and mom are going to celebrate nice tonight
because it probably matters to her. Lucy. It would be
nice if you weren't social, Bobby and Lucy, you didn't
just hate other people, missus. Slow walk, Yes, yeah, maybe
they'll hold hands and go on a slow walk together
(01:31:35):
in the neighborhood right out there. See the beach in Miami.
You know there's a moon over it tonight. Apparently moon's
over Miami. There you go, Huh, I'm dad Joe. Lucy
played basketball Michigan Tech. Nice. Oh, she'll take Bobby to
the low block and just drop step on him in
a hammer of dunk. Well, Miami, now, South Dade County,
(01:31:58):
that's where he said it. So I'm sure he's going
to the beach. He didn't live in Galveston here, I
don't think. Uh, the long commute and to prepare to
put a game plan in Miami's kind of overrated. C Yeah,
just so Miami Da Miami to me, he's got a
(01:32:18):
little Vegas in it. You can go for three or
four days, max. Yes, then you got to go. Now. Now,
if you're on the beach the whole time and you
got a beach and all, that's fine. But if you're
going for the night life, it'll it'll it'll beat you
to wear you out.
Speaker 5 (01:32:30):
Oh yeah, quick man, it will beat you quick, faster
than in a hurry. Quick faster than a hurry. You know,
Miami is good. I mean, you can go for two days,
two days or you know, I'll.
Speaker 4 (01:32:39):
Give you more than that. If it's a vacant of
golf's included and I'm playing, you know, sitting there it's
like eighty five degrees on the beach, I'll give you
more than that. But in the night life, when you're
going there to stay up all night, yeah, it's just
like Vegas that's playing trip out. You're like, oh gosh,
I gotta get I need another week vacation. Yeah. Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:32:56):
Major League Bay or the MLB network, I should say,
excuse me, released their top ten players in baseball right now.
Jordan Alvarez made the list. Where does he fall?
Speaker 4 (01:33:06):
That's next? Let the celebration start.
Speaker 1 (01:33:10):
Wor Sean Salisbury to Sewn Salisbury shure.
Speaker 4 (01:33:16):
You know what I mean, because that's what David Coverdale wanted.
The front. You've made the decision. The white snake it
and that's David Coverdale.
Speaker 5 (01:33:26):
Okay, do you ever see White Snake in concert. No,
I have not no led Zeppelin a white Snake. Unbelievable, man,
it cuts deep, not seeing white Snake. Where do you
think white deeper?
Speaker 4 (01:33:38):
Not seeing led Zeppelin? Where is the origin of a
chance in the seventies and eighties to go and I
seventies would have been too young, But in the eighties, Yeah,
cut me deep man, white Snake. Where do you think
they're from?
Speaker 8 (01:33:52):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (01:33:53):
Great Britain, London, England. There you go. That's pretty good man,
aren't they all? That's pretty much.
Speaker 5 (01:33:59):
That's pretty small on. Dude, David Coverdale just recently left
for Deep Purple.
Speaker 4 (01:34:05):
Do you think I was Do you think I was
just throwing stuff at you and not backing it up
with facts, straight facts? New Life and it. Who's Thin
Lizzie a great old school seventies group? Oh, man, rock
and roll group, love Thin Lizzy not to be confisurated,
fat Lizzo. Yeah, Well, once again the shaming continues. The
guys shallow, shallow Brian, Uh, thin Lizzie, Yeah, old school?
Speaker 5 (01:34:29):
Oh look at that Thin Lizzy an Irish rock band
off the charts. Are there any American rock bands?
Speaker 4 (01:34:34):
Well, who's the greatest American rock band of all time.
They're British, are they? Yeah, they're not American. Let's say,
let's see, I don't know who is it? Well, Yes,
Eagles have got to be the top of the near
the top of the list American rock bands. Eagles will
be mentioned in there. They're they're going to be at
the top of that list, The Eagles, the Doors, Yes,
(01:34:57):
Steely Dan Morrison was a use la Guy Steely Dan
Leonard Skinner Ard. That's no question there guns in the
top ten that if you're talking about the hardcore stuff,
guns and rows have got to be a part of it.
Aerosmith stick top shelf, top shelf, kiss, Oh, it's got
to be a Metallica there and there the conversation as well.
(01:35:18):
So there, there you go. But you'll find, you know,
far more bands you know that are from across the
pond that you will here, as far as when you're
talking about Hall of Fame legendary bands. But yeah, then
Lizzy off the charts across school. Gotta love that saying yeah,
I gotta love the same.
Speaker 5 (01:35:35):
A Major League Baseball MLB network released their top one
hundred list.
Speaker 4 (01:35:41):
We didn't get to the top twenty, so can we
work from twenty down. See if I can find it. Man,
Top twenty. You got to the top, you got the ten.
I need to know who the top twenty is. All right,
let's go. That's what I hate about it be MLB network.
Speaker 5 (01:35:55):
They releast the they release the list of one through ten,
and then they take take their time putting out tweets
for each player. So there's a one about Bobby Wit
and Wan Soda. It's like, damn, dude, just put up
the list, man, So you got well, come on now,
come on your and Alvaroz made the Top ten, by
(01:36:15):
the way again first thirty year straight, which is a
pretty good uh, pretty good thing for him. Gosh, dang it, dude,
they quite literally did not list one. Uh you said
you wanted ten, eleven through twenty, is that right?
Speaker 4 (01:36:32):
Yeah? Yeah, Oh my gosh, man, you have a little
trouble finds.
Speaker 5 (01:36:36):
Yeah they didn't. Okay, no, no, that's top ten cubs.
This is ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (01:36:42):
Soose the list is out though, Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:36:45):
They released Top twenty yesterday or excuse me, two days ago,
and then yesterday was the eleven through twenty app Yeah. Man,
but they don't put a graphic up with it. So
that's that's depressing, all right, Well, I love doing that
live on air. I've got number twenty Chris Sale, number nineteen,
Zach Wheeler. I'm just gonna have to go through this
(01:37:07):
one by one, number eighteen Katel Marte. Okay, so go
back to twenty Chris Sale. Okay, nineteen, Zach. What a
comeback he's made. Wheeler at nineteen, Yeah, Wheeler at nineteen
eighteen Katel Marte. For the Diamondbacks, number seventeen, Corey Seeger Dude,
he was sixth last year.
Speaker 4 (01:37:28):
He is now seventeen. Drop off.
Speaker 5 (01:37:32):
Ronald Occunya junior number sixteen. He's only there because andrewe injury. Right,
he was the number one player last year.
Speaker 4 (01:37:38):
He's a top five guy if he's healthy. Paul Skeen's
number fifteen. Good run, good start to a crew of
phenomenal future looks like Kyle Tucker number fourteen, King Who
King Tuck, King of the North. He's a North end
that's coming off of season. He missed seventy plus games.
Speaker 5 (01:37:56):
Vlad Gerrero junior number thirteen, Bryce Harper number twelve. Tark
Scooball number eleven.
Speaker 4 (01:38:06):
Keeping Harper out of the top ten.
Speaker 5 (01:38:08):
Yeah, yep, and then one through ten is start at ten, ten,
Gunner Henderson for the Orioles, Jose Ramirez number nine, Freddie
Freeman eight, Jordan Alvarez seven, Francisco Lindor finding himself in
the top ten this year at number six. There you go,
Mookie Bets number five, one Soto number four, Bobby Witt
(01:38:32):
Junior number three, Aaron Judge number two, Sho Hao Tani
number one.
Speaker 4 (01:38:39):
Three Dodgers in the top ten. Yeah, ridiculous. Streeman, Bets,
and Otani. Right. The name who's off that list we're
looking for is Mike Trout. Yeah, who would normally be
in the first five guys mentioned He's one number one
player of the year like nine different times in his career.
(01:39:00):
About a guy who's probably looking for, he's probably if
he stays healthy, he's probably like, I'm gonna have a
monster season because I'm tired of this, right, So if
they stay healthy, Yeah, there's no question, man, dude. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:39:12):
So here are the number one players the last fifteen seasons.
Albert Poolholtz, Matt Kemp, Mike Trout, Mike Trout, Clayton Kershaw,
Mike Trout, Mike Trout, Mike Trout, Mike Trout, Mike Trout,
Mike Trout Show, Hal Tani showhal Tony, Ronald Junior Show, Heotani.
Speaker 1 (01:39:29):
Now Mike Trout.
Speaker 4 (01:39:30):
Yeah, dude, Yeah, I'm gonna tell you think Trout had
any respect from the people who we're picking lists one, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
Speaker 5 (01:39:44):
Eighteen times, Mike eight times eight times between twenty thirteen
and twenty twenty one, has won it three times.
Speaker 4 (01:39:53):
And it be healthy for the full season. He'll be
right back in that top ten. He will be right there. Yeah.
It is sickening. Yeah, absolutely is. It's a good word.
Speaker 13 (01:40:02):
It is.
Speaker 4 (01:40:02):
It is hard to fathom how good he is whin
he said, And even like one hundred and twenty game season,
he puts up like numbers. You're like, oh, he's still
in the MVP talk. He's with sixty games. It's nuts, man,
sixty five games and still hit three ten with like
thirty bombs. Yeah, guy's phenomenal. It's just ridiculous like this.
I want to see him healthy for a whole season, man,
give it to us. I agreed.
Speaker 5 (01:40:23):
Seven one, three, five, seven, ninety is the number to join.
Continue on right here on seven ninety.
Speaker 4 (01:40:27):

Salisbury show continues, I'm saying something. Yeah, Okay, I think
I think No, I think music is a is a
I actually think music is a big part of a
good show. I agree, But I'm just talking about from
(01:42:14):
the listeners. You think the love ballad love ballads? I
will change it up. No, I'm just asking we both
agree to go love ballad, but is it is it
a banger? For it that one?
Speaker 13 (01:42:22):
Just now?
Speaker 4 (01:42:22):
Yeah? No, No, I've never heard it though, So you're
like love love will give it together. Deal, Okay, we
don't want to hear that either. Why not blows?
Speaker 1 (01:42:35):
Mmm?
Speaker 4 (01:42:37):
Do you think I'm negative negative Nelly right now? You
feel good about it?
Speaker 8 (01:42:41):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:42:41):
I do.
Speaker 9 (01:42:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:42:42):
Well you could take a poll too, and you could
take a poll. You could ask a pole question and say,
would you rather hear bangers or love ballads? A fair question,
but a love ballads bangers some can be when you're banging,
that's a love ballad? Is this love banger? All right?
My wife's think yeah, yeah, yeah, you're down on it, dude,
(01:43:03):
you are. It's the disrespect man. No, I'm just trying
to feel like if I I guess because I'm if
more people think like we do, that love ballads may
not be their get their their gig right now, and
it may not even matter who cares. Yeah, I mean
if we love love ballads, then we'll play love ballad right,
But you know sometimes we try to, you know, make
the peeps love them triple you break the tie bangers
(01:43:27):
or slow rolling love ballads for the last ninety minutes.
I love music, so either Ori is fond with me.
I like a beat and I like slow music as well.
The one I just told them. That wasn't the question
to either one of you guys, what would get you
fired up the last ninety minutes. I'm a vibe person,
(01:43:47):
like I feel like the vibe into the love songs. Yeah,
but they love ballads doesn't have to be slow. You
too too, It's with this is the democracy, brothers to
you to your majority of rules.
Speaker 8 (01:43:59):
There you go.
Speaker 4 (01:43:59):
Yeah, but but love ballads don't have to be slow.
Speaker 9 (01:44:01):
Like.
Speaker 4 (01:44:01):
I'll think of some stuff that's a little more upbeat.
Speaker 1 (01:44:04):
What is love?
Speaker 4 (01:44:05):
Never mind?
Speaker 5 (01:44:05):
The song that we got coming up next is gonna
be upbeat? Okay, yeah, we'll get that song. Hey listen,
I just you could just trounce us both and say, look,
I'm executive decision. Play some country, make an executive decision
right now. But I'm gonna grid with my peeps, you
know what. I'll sometimes that sometimes you gotta ride with
your peeps and play it out. And let's see, let's
(01:44:26):
see I got some we got to Winnie Houston on
the way. Well, yeah, we'll get it figured out. It's
really not that big to chap your ass, No, dude,
we can play to put it out there. And now
I'm got of backtracking on it.
Speaker 4 (01:44:41):
No, we could play Happy Bye Pharrell. No, don't do that.
Oh no, don't ever play that song show. I won't
play that.
Speaker 1 (01:44:48):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (01:44:48):
I mean if you want to go play it in
a third grade class, go ahead, not here, Okay, it's
for the kids. A few, that's who you want on
A few? No, all right, yeah, no that's a you
know what well, I know it hit, but it's not
my cut. You feel me on that triple A mine? Yeah,
not my cut? But anyway, what about like what about
(01:45:10):
you make my Dreams Come true by Holland Oates? You
were making my dreams come true? Yeah, not a bad cut,
not a bad cut, but uh, I digress. Okay, we'll
get it. Go all right, Good luck to you, buddy,
Thank you.
Speaker 8 (01:45:27):
Man.
Speaker 4 (01:45:27):
See at the beach seven talking about these astros, Chris,
good morning, good morning.
Speaker 9 (01:45:35):
Uh you guys were talking about or one of the
callers was talking about legacy and pregnant's legacy, and it
got me thinking, Uh, labor Day, I was over in Houston.
I get over Houston a good number of times a year.
My family's still all over there, so me, my brother,
a bunch of guys we grew up with. We're sitting
around by the pool having cocktails and cigars one evening,
and we start talking about the legacy of Houston sports
(01:45:58):
athletes and where where they sit on that mountain, and
so conclusively we all agreed that, well, at one point
only Elajawan was on that mountain, and then once al
two Bay got that second title, signed that contract that
pretty much assured he'd retire. We all agreed they're both
on top of the mountain together. So then we go
(01:46:19):
on and we're having a discussion and they start talking
about Nolan Ryan and so you know, there's always that
one dude, and I'm that one dude. So they're talking
and they paused for a minute and I said, you know,
Justin Burlander has a better legacy as an Astros pitcher
than Nolan and Ryan. And I mean, they they gave
(01:46:40):
me the look like they didn't even know what to say.
Speaker 4 (01:46:43):
Do you really believe that, though? Do you believe that?
Speaker 9 (01:46:46):
Absolutely? Absolutely? I didn't say as a picture as an
Astros picture. And I'll say for a couple of reasons.
Number one, they were both here about the same time
six and a half seven years Burlanders got two titles.
Ryan doesn't. Burlander has this Cye Young. And then on
(01:47:07):
top of that, I mean Ryan is in the hall
wearing a Washington senator's hat, so that that kind of
is something else. But the thing that really seals it
for me was kind of Ryan himself and his kind
of post career grifting between the Astros and the Rangers
based on who he thought would let him buy into
(01:47:28):
ownership or who would employ his son, that kind of thing,
and that just kind of his to me, taints his
legacy in Houston, not as a picture is a picture,
I think he has a greater legacy than Justin Burlander,
but as an Astros picture, I think Burlander definitely does.
Speaker 4 (01:47:48):
Thanks for a hell of an argument, Chris, good call man,
I haven't ever thought about that. I mean a legacy, yes,
but with those two in particular, isn't Nolan Ryan he
sands a cy Young in his whole career, right he
did not want to sign and Roger Clemens his sands
a no hitter? Right?
Speaker 8 (01:48:05):
Right?
Speaker 4 (01:48:09):
Is Ferlander's legacy bigger if you just talk about pitching
for the Astros, not everything that went before it or
after it, then Nolan Ryan, who's who who gets who's
all who's on the legacy Mountain. I don't know. I
have a hard time keeping Earl Campbell off that. I
think you have to have him on that. And I'll
tell you you know, who else is pretty damn good here?
(01:48:31):
Who you could put if there's your room for more
than four Warren Moon's career here was pretty freaking good. Yeah,
people people sleep Hall of Famer, first African American to
make the Hall of Fame as a quarterback. Yeah, people
sleep on Warn Moon in this city. It's because he
didn't win the title. Warren Moon is the best quarterback
that's ever rolled through this city. Yeah, yeah, any argument,
(01:48:53):
but the Elijah want and now too, they are there.
There is no argument, right, there is no that's unanimous
choices for ballot, unanimous choice when it comes to the
legacy of this city. And this question gets asked all
the time and talked about. But and then there's twenty
five guys that you want to throw in their second
right or third and fourth. Warren Moon's Name's got to
(01:49:14):
come up. How is Earl Campbell? Nolan Ryan? But is
justin Verlander's legacy as an astros pitcher run deeper than
Nolan Ryan's.
Speaker 5 (01:49:25):
So Nolan Ryan spent nine seasons in Houston. Verlander had
seven seasons here. Verlander had two titles.
Speaker 4 (01:49:31):
Right, that's what's going to if anybody's leaning that way,
they're going to lean towards Verlander because of the championship.
Speaker 5 (01:49:40):
Yeah, and I think people lean because of him being
traded here in twenty seventeen is essentially what turned catapulted
them into that playoff run.
Speaker 4 (01:49:50):
Well, and it's fair because it did. Yeah, everybody got better, right,
but just straight out on the mound, my fear for
Nolan Ryan was far greater. Yeah, I mean, playing Nolan
Ryan most must watched because every time he went out there,
you were thinking he can throw a no hitter. And
when you're busting, when you have one of the best
curveballs in baseball and then you're also pumping it one
(01:50:12):
hundred plus and your your mean is a junkyard dog.
And I mean on the field he was. If he was,
he was an afraid you should be. He wasn't afraid of.
Forget the Robin mature thing, Nolan Ryan. If you decided
the inside of your like Bob Gibson, that bad, bad mistake.
He's taking the inside of inner half of that plate. Yeah,
(01:50:32):
you don't get to dominate that, right. So I don't
know that the Championships are going to lean towards Verlander, obviously,
but it's just when they take the mound man, I'd
be hard pressed it. As much as I like justin
Verland to take him over.
Speaker 5 (01:50:45):
Nolan Ryan, I would take Nolan like right now, I
would take Nolan Ryan. Yeah, I feel like Nolan was
a is this city, Yeah, but part of it. But
because of the trade to go get Verlander, the Hurricane winning,
winning the World Series for the first time and how
it happened, that's what's gonna I would agree push people
(01:51:06):
towards Verlander's legacy, would get a statue first.
Speaker 4 (01:51:09):
Nolan Ryan. There you go, Nolan Ryan should get it first.
But yeah, but that but he makes a good call,
he said as an Astros pitcher. Yeah, it's a hell
of an argument and great. I think I think people
would probably lean towards Verlander. But old school's gonna go.
The old school would be older school is going to
go Nolan Ryan. Yeah, new it's the it's the third,
(01:51:30):
the third in between the two. Yeah, newer school, order
school that did love baseball but don't care about arrows. Right,
and then then who would they? Who would they? And
the truth is it's Astros fans and what they've said,
And I wonder what the Astros organization would say. Who
did crowns that guy?
Speaker 11 (01:51:47):
That?
Speaker 5 (01:51:47):
I would love to hear some of these people inside
the organization what they feel. Absolutely that would be great.
Man seven one, three, two five, seven ninety is the
number to join. Get back out to the phone lines.
Next on the Shawn Salisbury Show.
Speaker 7 (01:52:00):

Speaker 1 (01:52:19):
Sean Salisbury Show continues right now.
Speaker 13 (01:52:26):
Was that, Mike, I want to talk about people that
have left the Astros. First off, have any of them
won MVPs? Have they gone to a championship instead of
staying with the Astros.
Speaker 10 (01:52:43):
And winning championships?
Speaker 4 (01:52:45):
Garrett Cole is the only one.
Speaker 13 (01:52:48):
Yeah, So that should be something they look at when
they leave the Astros. There's the management of this team
has been so good that they've been able to put
together champion ship seasons every year, whereas like the Carlos
Koreas of the world, even Bordlander when he went. When
(01:53:09):
he left, they didn't win anything. And it's if they
want to win. And I understand the money part of it.
Everybody should be able to make as much money as
they can, but they're they're not really helping the teams
that they're going to to win championships.
Speaker 4 (01:53:30):
Good point. I appreciate the call. Just talk to Andy, Andy,
what's up? Hey guys. Hey, by the way, I do
enjoy your music. It's pretty good there you go that.
Speaker 23 (01:53:42):
Yes, Hey, so Sean, I'm guys, I'm sixty years old.
So I saw everybody that we've talked about this morning,
live and in.
Speaker 4 (01:53:50):
Person concert whise you're talking about No, No, Nolan Ryan
and Justin.
Speaker 23 (01:53:58):
I saw everybody on the list to team everybody. So
the Mountain Caem's at the top, and uh, I think
you got to throw Al Tuvey.
Speaker 4 (01:54:10):
Right there with him for multiple reasons.
Speaker 23 (01:54:16):
But the Nolan Ryan thing. You know, if Nolan Ryan
is not from Alvin, Texas, okay, and are when he
was playing for the Angels, if he moved to California
and never came back, I don't think that we have
this discussion even if he played for the Astros for
six years.
Speaker 10 (01:54:36):
So you know the.
Speaker 23 (01:54:40):
Time bias is with Verlander. But you know, Justin want
to Cy Young here? How many do he win in Detroit?
Speaker 10 (01:54:50):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (01:54:51):
One or two? Man, he's got three he's won if
he did if he's got three, he won two.
Speaker 23 (01:54:56):
There, okay, and he played there for ten years, so
so you know it's a balance. I mean, he's got
rings here. You know, his stature with the Astros is
way up there.
Speaker 4 (01:55:12):
At some point.
Speaker 23 (01:55:13):
You know, success breeds this. When you have a club
that are our teams that do well, you know you're
gonna have these discussions. And by the way, Sean, you're
totally correct on Warren Moon. I that guy was a
total stud and a lot of us here in Houston
(01:55:33):
we didn't pay attention to how good he was. You
know during his career he was outstanding. Right, I got
a hot but great show. Thank you, buddy, appreciate it.
Good stuff. That's a good point.
Speaker 5 (01:55:45):
Justin Verlander won one Cy Young with the Tigers, two
with the Astros. Oh so it was the other way around, Yeah, okay,
didn't you think it was two there? One thought it
was two the year but he won he won the
year the Astros twenty nineteen, and then again in twenty twenty.
Speaker 4 (01:55:56):
Two won the year we thought was going to win.
It was one and two. Yeah that's right, Yeah, that's right.
Let's talk to Kenneth. Good morning.
Speaker 10 (01:56:02):
Kenneth's one thing I wanted to bounce off for both
of the y'all. First, I wanted to ask you, Brian,
you know what if somebody said, uh, a certain player
in baseball was a natural? Uh, what would come to
your mind?
Speaker 4 (01:56:19):
A natural?
Speaker 1 (01:56:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (01:56:21):
I don't hear that.
Speaker 10 (01:56:23):
The accident is is that this ladest thing with this
mass player. I ain't gonna mention his name. And I
haven't seen this kind of clamor since the times, you know,
used to hear that karm a lot towards baseball players.
Was this guy the natural? That guy's the natural?
Speaker 9 (01:56:41):
What about what about you?
Speaker 13 (01:56:42):
Uhh?
Speaker 10 (01:56:44):
When do we stop hearing that?
Speaker 4 (01:56:46):
Uh? You know, because I don't hear that no more
like like when we talk about Willie Mays or even
just going Bonds, Ken Griffy Jr. Yeah, the guy's just natural.
Well I could apply that to yord On Alvarez. This
isn't he just to me natural? I don't know. I'm
not sure Kenneth, how you put it into how you
(01:57:06):
define what natural and baseball means to you. To me,
it means it looks too easy. You know what I'm
saying around you very much. You're exactly right. You're you're
years ago times a year. That's right, You're exactly right here.
Speaker 10 (01:57:23):
I just wanted to throw that out there because, uh,
this big deal over this guy that wanted to leave. Man,
you know, I just the term comes on my mind
and I just said, man, this guy is not no
natural and then like I.
Speaker 13 (01:57:35):
Can see it.
Speaker 10 (01:57:36):
He was a nast. You don't have to be way
around it and every I mean you had to be
kind of rounded out, but kind of good at everything.
And you know, like mister baseball is almost you know.
Uh but uh, I was just wondering about it because
I just don't hit that terror no more.
Speaker 4 (01:57:52):
Thanks the hell of a point. It's true. And when
I think of that, look, when you watch natural short steps,
when you watch Alex play here, it feels a little
more rigid. He doesn't look like a natural player. When
you watched Ken Griffy junior play that's a natural. Yes, yeah,
that guy roh and I watch Ronald Lecunya play baseball natural,
(01:58:14):
it feels to me like I'm just watching. I mean,
it looks too easy. Everything looks see to me. And
it was like in football, like when Brady was playing
quarterback or Joe Burrow. The reason I say them true
drop back guys right or go back to the time.
I don't care Marino. It's just everything that just looked
like they were too casual. But they weren't right. They
were moving, but the rest of us, like, man, it
(01:58:35):
looks so easy, fluid, I mean so so to me.
Mookie Betts has got a lot of that. I think
Acuna has a lot of that. There's guys that are
great players but feel like more of the grinder. Like
Scott Roland was a grinder yea. You know, they didn't
feel anything natural yet he might have been a natural
born baseball player in it, but I felt like Roland
and his name just entered my mind, thinking he's a
George Brett felt natural to me. I think the word
(01:58:58):
now that we hear all the time is pure oh yes,
or generational talent. We hear that in football all the time.
So yeah, I mean, of all those guys, Willie Mays
comes to mind. Back in the day. See, Pete Rose
didn't feel natural to me. Petee Rose felt like he
grind grind, right, Ken is natural a baseball player. When
he played in center field. It looked easy when he played.
(01:59:20):
I mean, he just as his natural when he hit
his swing. Is you know what unparallel beauty?
Speaker 9 (01:59:25):
Right?
Speaker 5 (01:59:26):
You look at like the three some of the three
of the best hitters, Pete Rose, Tony Gwynn, Wade Box
all grinders.
Speaker 4 (01:59:31):
Oh yeah, oh yeah, finders. But those are the guys
that you felt were in their garage grinding and at night,
at midnight when twelve, Yeah, yeah, there's no doubt it
feels and and I know that how hard Griffy and
those guys work. I feel like Griffy rolled out of
bed and could show up while everybody else that had
been batting practice for two hours and his first four
(01:59:52):
at bats in high school, you're like, how's this guy good?
But the natural guys put a lot of hard work in,
don't just understanding it, just they make it look a
lot more so. Baker Mayfield doesn't look like a natural
quarter He's kneecaps and elbows everywhere. When you watch Joe
Burrow drop back and throw. It's like even Josh Allen
doesn't look that Josh when you watch like Burrow, just
(02:00:14):
because he said the mechanics are perfection, and it looks
like his attitude doesn't care. Yeah calls he's right, kiss right.
We don't hear it used anymore. But there's a hand
to me, when I watched Jordan on average swing the bat,
he looks he looks like he was born hits. Yeah,
exactly everless five ridiculous. Yet when you watch a grinder play,
it's like just a bregman. To me, he was a grinder.
Speaker 8 (02:00:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:00:36):
I didn't feel like anything he did was natural, but
he just made it. He was good at it. Yeah,
and in a certain places great at it. So it's
it's it's really it is weird how that that term
doesn't get his used as often.
Speaker 5 (02:00:48):
Yeah, I've kind of it's kind of been lost along
the lost in the week when they play it's like
a runner.
Speaker 4 (02:00:54):
When I watched I told you, when I watch Xavier
Worthy run the other day, when he split the difference
and caught the deep touchdown passed from Mahomes, Yeah, it
felt like he was just kind of and and he's
still running by him. Is this There's certain people who
just make it look so easy that you almost feel
like they're not trying. Griffy's swing looked like he's he
really trying. Yeah, he's kind of and then bam he
(02:01:17):
pumps one four fifty right, and it's like that looks
way too easy for him. That's natural stuff, right, That
is natural. That is just when you watch Steph Curry shoot,
it's just like he came out of the womb with
the basketball and hand shoop and jump shots and jumpers.
Everything about it is smooth and relaxed. There's nothing rigid
about it, right. So, yeah, we don't see that term
very often, very much as we use it as much.
Speaker 5 (02:01:38):
As we get into the nine o'clock hour, We're going
to welcome in Chris Gordy live from West Palm Beach

Speaker 1 (02:02:49):
Chris, welcome you.
Speaker 4 (02:02:51):
Good to have you on, brother. We appreciate you, uh
calling in and giving us this great update. So a
spot of spoke today overview and I know we'll have
some sound on it too, but give us an overview.
What what was learned?
Speaker 9 (02:03:04):
Yeah, so the the big thing we're looking at is
Lance mccullor's is going to speak to the media. I
expected to speak to the media about an hour. Joe
kind of said, uh, you know, he didn't want to
get too into it, but he's gonna let Lance talk
about where he's at. And you know a few people
I've talked to you said it's it's a good thing.
It's not nothing bad. So you know he's he's on track,
(02:03:25):
not going to be ready like we've you know, it's
already been reported. I could be ready for the start
of the season. But he's on track to get back
here and contribute to this team, you know, hopefully sooner
rather than later. And you know, Spotty even went on
went on to talk about you know, he was on
that other side, the spotted was on the bench with
the Yankees since seventeen and you know that game when
mccullor's just was coming, curveball, curveball, curveball, and you know,
(02:03:50):
the Yankees knew what was coming and they couldn't hit it.
And so he just talked about want of an impact
that that mccullor's has had on this organization and that man,
he's just ready to get back out there and pitch.
And funny, so somebody said he did a you know
you sign an autographs for a fan a couple months ago,
and one of the fans asked, did you retire? I mean,
that's how long it's been. It's been I think game
three of that twenty twenty two World Series. I mean,
(02:04:11):
where you're going on almost three years since we've seen
the Colors pitching a competitive game. So it'll be interesting
to hear from him. At about an hour. We'll have
that up on our website. Sports of a Night dot Com.
Speaker 4 (02:04:21):
All right, Gordon, let's assume that he's healthy. Okay, let's
assume he's as healthy and he's gonna get twenty four
to twenty five starts this year if he did, I mean,
he was healthy enough to get that many starts. Do
you believe the organization, if they know he's healthy, envisions
him as a starter or a bullpen guy.
Speaker 9 (02:04:39):
Now, yeah, I think he's still a starter. I mean, here,
here's the thing to think about, guys. You need an
average MLB team needs about twelve guys to get through
a full season.
Speaker 4 (02:04:51):
And a postseason star. Twelve starters, right, twelve starters?
Speaker 9 (02:04:54):
Yeah right, Yeah, I mean we could talk about a
five man rotation, but you know, you're you're go back
and look throughout the years. I mean, you know that
seventeen season there were multiple guys who came up and
made spot starts here and there. I mean, the injuries
are gonna happen and you're gonna need other arms. So yeah,
I mean, look as much faith as we have in
this current five five man rotation, you know they're gonna
(02:05:17):
get Christian Hobbyer back at some point. They're gonna get
Luis Garcia back at some point if lights mccullors can go,
you know, let's just say a month into the season,
he's ready to go. Now he'll be a starter. I
think they got enough guys in the bullpen that can
hold down those spots that I think McCuller still sees
himself and I think the organization still sees him as
a starter.
Speaker 4 (02:05:36):
Chris Gordy ourpedi here also does a lot of work
on Air Force and is in Wes Palm as he
is every year Astro spring training. Joe Spottuspoke today will
have sound on that you can get his Sports seven
ninety dot com and all the stuff Gordy's bringing to us,
including this interview. Gordy, let's switch to the outfield. I
know it's a topic of conversation. I know Chas McCormick
(02:05:57):
had said that he thinks they got a chance to
be a great outfield. But do the Astros view this
as in we talked about it with Joe a spot
and when we were at the fan fest. Is it
Is it really an open competition at all three positions?
Speaker 9 (02:06:12):
I mean, they're they're gonna say that. I mean I
think they're they're hoping in the perfect world, Chazz walks down,
you know, right field, Jake locks down center, and then
you know it's really just about figuring out left field.
And you know they're still rumbling and said jose L
twov is gonna get some repisodes there. We'll see. But
you know, Taylor Trummel is here in camp today. I
just saw him walk by out to the field. So
(02:06:35):
that's a guy who's you know, played for the Maritors,
played for the Yankees, and you know his numbers aren't great,
but he's a guy who you know, all it takes
is one season for it to click. You know, he's
a guy they're certainly looking at that that can compete there.
And what's so interesting, guys, is there's this hodgepodge of
guys who were just watching U some of the some
of the young guys take grounders out here. You got
(02:06:55):
Bryce Matthews, who's down at Triple A knocking on the door.
You got Shay Whitcomb who came up here and played
a little bit. You got Zach Dezenzo who played a
little bit, uh, and then you've got the top prospect,
Cam Smith. Basically all four of those guys can playing
multiple positions, and almost all of them they've talked about
being able to play second base, being able to play
the corners, being able to play shortstop, being able to
(02:07:17):
play outfield. That's one of, to me, one of the
most intriguing storylines of where are all these guys gonna play?
You know, if if some of these guys get called
back up and make the big league club, like you
know it, all it takes is one guy to lockdown
one spot and say this is where I am. I mean,
who knows Cam Smith could get to triple A at
the start of the year and just crushing bombs and
(02:07:37):
maybe comes up as your everyday left fielder. I mean
that that's on the table. You know, they're gonna play
to Zenzo a little bit in the outfield. So it's
gonna be really intriguing to see what happens with that
group of guys, because one of them can emerge as
a consistent bat and can lock down one of those spots,
and then it just gives you even more versatility.
Speaker 4 (02:07:56):
Yeah, one of the ben Zobras, We've got four guys
with some ben zoebris can play them all and play
second base as well.
Speaker 9 (02:08:03):
Well. Look at the Dodgers. I mean, their their whole
bench is utility guy.
Speaker 4 (02:08:09):
And those guys are Chris Taylor, nic centerfield, shortstop, second base,
first base, catcher, third base. Does it all absolutely, That's
that's month sy.
Speaker 9 (02:08:16):
I mean, you know, hey, coach, where am I playing
to that? I mean, it's it just gives you so
much versatility as a manager.
Speaker 4 (02:08:22):
Yeah, Bets was playing shortstop a year ago. So yeah,
the versatility of that that team, and they've built on
it and they're all productive. Chris Cordy joins us from
the West Palm Gordy going into year two. We always
talk about players, let's talk about the manager and we
we we you know, did talk to Joe and what
you'll learn when we had spoke with him at FanFest.
But what do you think his biggest challenge going into
(02:08:45):
spring training? You know, if he was writing him down
or if you were writing him down, what's his biggest
challenge in year two?
Speaker 9 (02:08:52):
Well, I'll tell you. I mean, just being here a
couple of days, I've seen a more assertive Joe a Spotta.
I mean he's always been a guy that's been you know,
very player friendly, very friendly with guys, and you know,
very hands on so far these first couple of days.
I mean, he's he knows what he wants to do,
he knows what the vision is, and you know, much
(02:09:15):
more Certace. Well, we'll see how this plays out once
we get into into games. But I just see a
guy who I think is a little bit more confident
in the role this year than he was a year ago.
So again, we'll see once we get into games. But
the team almost kind of needs that guys. I mean that,
you know, it's one thing to put your arm around
a guy and be the players the players manager, but
(02:09:35):
you also need a guy who you know, buckles up
his belt and says, let's go. It's not it's go time,
you know, let's get out there and execute. So we'll
see when we get into games man, but yeah, he
just it just seems like a little bit of a
more assertive Joe a spot of this year.
Speaker 4 (02:09:49):
Is there a chance you mentioned all the pitching that
they could have. Is there a chance that we know
going in in the bullpen now I'm talking about that.
Is there a front runner for the a seventh inning
guy I am. I'm assuming bra who's going back to
the eighth inning and with Hater as a closer. Do
we are we talking about a litany of guys or
is there one in mind that may have an advantage
(02:10:11):
going into this.
Speaker 1 (02:10:13):
Today?
Speaker 9 (02:10:13):
Right now, I think it's Taylor Scott, and that's a
guy who pitched some really good innings for you last year.
But you know, there's there's plenty of candidates. I mean,
Caleb Ord, you know, is a guy. You know, we'll
see what Whitley looks like. I think in a in
a perfect world, you'd love for him, uh, him and
Sean Dubin to kind of battle out for that long
reliever room. You know, when a starter gets in trouble,
(02:10:35):
the guy can come in and just eat up innings.
But yeah, I mean Taylor Scott pitches some big spots
for them last year. You know, I think Brian King
is another one that's that's that's in the running. So
you know, they got plenty of good arms. It's just
a matter of seeing who you know who gives you
that confidence they can go out and get you at one, two,
three innings. So yeah, today I'm penciling Taylor Scott. But
(02:10:58):
certainly that that's bought is.
Speaker 4 (02:10:59):
Up for a lot of awfully quiet and maybe that's
a good thing about you know, the the hype and
pub with Jeremy Panna, you know, going in replacing Korea.
We saw the rookie year then all the way he
played in in the postseason going into year two, you know,
getting the expectations, had his struggles. So even though the
pomp and circumstance isn't there, I know when we saw him, Gordy,
(02:11:20):
there appears to be a different approach and a quiet aggressiveness.
What do you see from him this year? And what
are your eyes going to tell you in the spring
training that we need to see.
Speaker 9 (02:11:30):
Yeah, he's one of the few guys who isn't here
just yet, him and L two Bay, but you know
they should be here pretty soon. But that's the guy. Guys.
I was looking at the MLB network, you know, did
their top rankings top one hundred players in baseball? And
Jerry Penney's not in there. And this is the guy
who was a World Series MVP just three years ago, right, and.
Speaker 4 (02:11:48):
He's off a little bit. That's got to be irritating,
right sure, I mean, this isn't.
Speaker 9 (02:11:55):
Like a thirty two year old that want to you know,
a World Series MVP and then just fell off the
tate of the earth like this, a young growing player
who I thought had some really nice moments last year. Now,
I'd like to see the power come back, right, I
mean that the Jeremy Pagne was crushing bombs a couple
of seasons ago. Would love to see that comeback. But yeah, man,
I mean Joe Spotty even talked about it the other day.
(02:12:17):
You know they lost Bregman. Sure he was. He was
a clubhouse and a and an on the field leader.
Who's going to be that guy? And he singled out
Jeremy Panna mentioned his name as the guy who could
potentially emerge as a leader in this club. Now, he
did say leaders aren't chosen by the manager, they emerged
from inside of the club. But man, it would be
(02:12:37):
great if Payya could be that guy. And yeah, I
think he's I think he's gonna come in a little
bit of a chip on his shoulder saying man like really, yes,
don't even think I'm a top one hundred player in baseball.
Speaker 4 (02:12:48):
Let me show you, yeah, absolutely that that could be
a driving force. Well, Gordy, I know this. If a
Royal rumble breaks out with Payna, uh Jordan Descenzo and Smith.
I I got them winning against any Would you look
we were watching Smith take ground balls. Yeah, I said, man,
(02:13:08):
we could line up with the bookends, he and Descenzo
outside pain, you can play strong safety. We know what
Jordan's about. I mean you start to look at the
way the young impressive optics. This team's loaded with him. Brother.
Speaker 9 (02:13:21):
Yeah, and let me just tell you, I just posted
I got a couple of minutes with Cam Smith this morning.
We posted on our sports Talks of a ninety Twitter.
I mean, his kid's got it all, man, I mean
he's got He's humble but confident. He's got a smile
that will. I mean you can put on billboards and marketability.
But I mean you look at his size, just his build,
(02:13:42):
his body build. You see why he instantly became the
astros top prospect in our system after the Kyle Tucker trade.
So yeah, man, he's he's won again. They're gonna try
him a little bit in the outfield. They're gonna you know,
they know how good of an infielder he is. It's
just all about finding a spot for him. But it
would not shock the guy. He put this way. I
don't think he's going to be in sugar Land very
(02:14:02):
long this year. I think I think Cam Smith will
make his big league debut this year at some point
with me after us. We just don't know where, but
total package with that kid, superstar in the making. Hope
it all pants out.
Speaker 4 (02:14:12):
There's going to be some prodigious batting practice home runs.
It's spring training this year with a handful of those guys.
Can't wait to see it. Gordy, I know Carbox has
been taking care of us for a long time and
taking care of you as you go down to the
spring training. We appreciate you joining us brother, have at it.
Speaker 9 (02:14:28):
Yeah, man, it's a you know with the Crawford Bock,
it's always in season, but particularly when we get into
after spring training. Make sure you guys lull it up
on play at Crawford Bock from our friends at Carbock
Brewing and they make this possible. Always love them covering
our spring training coverage, our postseason coverage, and hopefully they
cover you when you're at tyk And Park and joining
an ice cool Crawford Box from our friends at Carbock Burrowing.
(02:14:48):
Appreciate you, guys, and by the way, we'll have some
updates on the station throughout the weekend. So Saturday and Sunday,
keep the lock every hour you'll get an update for
me here at spring training in West Palm.
Speaker 4 (02:14:58):
Great stuff out there, man, great in and appreciate your Sharon.
We'll look forward to having you back here and all
the great stuff you're sending down the line. Appreciate it.
That's Chris Gordy. Awesome stuff from West Palm Beach. We'll
come back. We'll discuss and high praise in the especially
for camp Smith. When you see him, you're like, Okay,
I get it, and apparently when you watch him and
talk to him, it's even more impressive. Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 1 (02:15:22):
The Jean Salisbury Show continues.
Speaker 5 (02:15:25):
He's the astros number one prospect. He's going to be
assigned to double A Corpus Christy came out of Florida State,
really really really good talent. This young core of players
that the Astros have is definitely something to look forward to.
Camp Smith, Jacob Melton, Bryce Matthews, Walker Janik.
Speaker 4 (02:15:48):
He's twenty two years old.
Speaker 5 (02:15:49):
He's the catcher from Sam Houston and I don't know
if you've ever seen any video on this kid, Sean.
Speaker 4 (02:15:53):
He has got an absolute hosts Sam Houston, Right, Yeah,
you just said, yeah, Sam Houston, when I didn't know
much about him until when they when they went and
got him. Yeah, and then I went and watched. But
that ball got great pop and that ball comes.
Speaker 5 (02:16:05):
Out and his his when his evaluation from scouts, the
first thing written about him is Walker Janik was the
best pure catcher in the in his class with a
plus arm. There's that word pure that we talked about. Obviously,
Zach Dezenzo. And then the pitcher aj blue Ball. You
heard his name a lot last year. He pitched one
(02:16:28):
game in Double A and then was promoted to Triple A.
So he will uh probably, I would assume maybe make
his debut this year at some point. Then you got
guys like Shay Whitgam pedro Leone. How are they gonna
fit in? You know that that team in Sugarland, Man,
they won that championship. That's a good, good squad down
there with guys that are already up here at the
(02:16:49):
big league level. But the but some things to look
forward to. Man, if you are an Astros fan, it's
gonna be a little different this year. No bragman, no
no Tucker, but different doesn't mean bad though, Yeah, not
at all, not at all, man, be good. Yeah, So
it's gonna be interesting man to see how Paradis Uh
plays and Christian Walker. But I think it's good gets
at the corner for both of those guys. So it's
(02:17:11):
a lot to look forward to. Man, I couldn't agree more.
Speaker 4 (02:17:13):
Seven seven ninety is the number to join What's up?
Roger by what's going on?
Speaker 9 (02:17:19):
Fellas.
Speaker 11 (02:17:19):
I'm glad you had that interview with Gordy first, because yeah,
I bought some inside of the question. I was gonna
ask you the question, We're not the question by the statement.
You know, Dana Brown, if anything else, he's best British attribute,
not only as a gentleman. He's a scout. He comes
from the Scout department and he knows how to out
the way talent. So I'm guessing he's gonna throw them
all on the table and say, you know what. I know,
(02:17:41):
we're going to go into the season with a looks
like a pretty questionable outfield. But my, my, my inclination
is this guy, this guy's gonna go ahead and let
it ride. He's gonna I think he's gonna go ahead
and include camp Smith and in the season, even though
he's not there yet, I'm thinking his sentence is going
to be very fast. His rise is gonna be pretty
(02:18:03):
pretty uh forwardable, and he's gonna be in that roster
quicker than what we might think he is. So that's
pretty why why you're just sitting back and relaxing and
not really worry about too much about the outfield, because
I think I think he thinks he's gonna come up
pretty fast. And that's a good thing because it's a
lot cheaper. It's a lot cheaper than going to get
(02:18:24):
get an agent best and uh, you know, I would
like to have for do go bat, but maybe we'll
make those decisions, you know, later on in the season.
But yeah, I get some good insight there from from
Gordy and that's it. Man, have a good weekend.
Speaker 4 (02:18:39):
Appreciate Roger. You play a little golf this weekend? Point,
Oh you already know?
Speaker 11 (02:18:43):
Man does a one leg a Dutch swimming circles?
Speaker 5 (02:18:46):
Debatable? Debatable? Brother straight hit him straight. Roger appreciates your weekend.
Speaker 4 (02:18:52):
Yeah, you too, appreciate it. I mean, does the one
leg of ducks swim in a circle? He got no choice?
Speaker 5 (02:18:58):
What if he's getting tug boted along by somebody else.
It's just like it's like, man, I wish these cameras
up and rolling, you know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (02:19:08):
It's just like in Nascar. In Nascar, turn left and
it's just keep it on over your turning left man
all the time. Right, same thing here for a duck.
He's just going and sir, it's like the electric football
set when the two guys lock arm circles. Didn't you
have your own figuring in that?
Speaker 9 (02:19:25):
Right? What?
Speaker 4 (02:19:25):
Man?
Speaker 9 (02:19:26):
Right?
Speaker 2 (02:19:26):
What?
Speaker 4 (02:19:29):
Damn? What? Man? Can't have any prime? Uh?
Speaker 9 (02:19:36):
You know what.
Speaker 4 (02:19:37):
I could either confirm that or deny it. But I
love that game. I loved it. Do me favor I
never mind, I'll tell you tell you all fair bad radio. Yeah,
there there's no no inside jokes. Yeah, that's right, that's right,
don't yeah, we don't do that. Yeah, So it's okay anyway.
Speaker 5 (02:19:56):
Aircraft carrier for camp Smith though you know there's no
I tweeted it out of Brian McTaggart uploaded a video
if I showed you of him taking ground balls and
their uh their uh excuse me, their groundball work, their
pre pre infield work, working on prep step and short hops.
This dude is an absolute unit. Jesus man, he is jacked.
(02:20:20):
Him and Decenzo both those are two edge rushers right there.
Speaker 4 (02:20:24):
It looks it's impressive. Look my in my perfect world,
Smith can play right field, descend, descenzo and left field,
you know, and then let him let him hit. You
know what, even if they got to hit two twenty
decided let's play way through it and let's let's go. Yeah,
those are monsters.
Speaker 5 (02:20:41):
Let's uh, let's talk about that because I think that's
pretty interesting, especially with the state of the outfield right now.
Speaker 4 (02:20:44):
That's next. On Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 1 (02:20:48):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued.
Speaker 5 (02:20:52):
So we did a post show video and Sean said, man,
we ought to we ought to party. You know, we're
about to party for the coops. Blah blah blah. He said,
play party all the time. So what the hell is
that they played? And I was like, oh, Michael Jackson,
bru I had no idea about this song. And so
we did a video. Me and Sewn are dancing like
idiots on social media. Where's the video. It's on sports
(02:21:15):
Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 1 (02:21:17):
I know y'all got to have it.
Speaker 9 (02:21:18):
I got.
Speaker 4 (02:21:20):
No no it's on, It's on our, It's on our.
Speaker 15 (02:21:22):
I g.
Speaker 4 (02:21:25):
Go ahead.
Speaker 5 (02:21:25):
Sean's grabbing the mic as if he's like literally in studio.
Damn right, Clabin. It's good though, man, what a banger, dude.
Speaker 4 (02:21:33):
Yeah, and you know you threw Michael I mean high
praise to throw Michael Jackson on Eddie Murphy when it
comes to the voice, right, yeah, Eddie brought it? Man,
great cut by him?
Speaker 9 (02:21:43):
Is it?
Speaker 4 (02:21:44):
Look? You love it? He's buying champagne and roses Valentine's Day,
so he doesn't understand it. Why do you want to
hurt him after all the time? Gorid cut though? Man,
Now that'll get your energy pumping exactly. Now, that'll get
you going on Now, you guys can't see what aren't
up and going?
Speaker 3 (02:22:03):
You know?
Speaker 9 (02:22:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:22:03):
I love how he did nine to ten. Thanks appreciate it. Joseph,
good morning.
Speaker 9 (02:22:13):
It'll have it.
Speaker 4 (02:22:15):
What's up, Joe?
Speaker 9 (02:22:16):
Hey?
Speaker 4 (02:22:17):
Hey, how y'all doing good?
Speaker 2 (02:22:18):
Good?
Speaker 4 (02:22:19):
Okay? Yeah, you're doing good? Yeah man, we're good.
Speaker 9 (02:22:23):
What's up? Yeah? I got a quick one quick courses there.
Speaker 13 (02:22:27):
I haven't worry anything about singing to me.
Speaker 9 (02:22:29):
Do you stand on the contrary?
Speaker 24 (02:22:31):
He is?
Speaker 9 (02:22:32):
He is?
Speaker 13 (02:22:33):
Okay, So he will be there.
Speaker 9 (02:22:35):
He will be there with the rest of the team. Man,
I didn't know I had to hear anything about John Singer.
Speaker 4 (02:22:39):
He sure will.
Speaker 9 (02:22:41):
Okay, all right, yeah, I have a good day to day,
have a good weekend.
Speaker 4 (02:22:44):
YouTube appreciate Man, can you say that to a guy? No,
you're not what you say having Valentine's Day to him?
So basically to him whoever his loved ones are.
Speaker 5 (02:22:54):
Like I would, I'll say, I'll say a big well
to you and Big Jay. Big J calls and I'll
tell him Happy Valentine's Day.
Speaker 4 (02:23:00):
So yeah, but when you say it to a guy,
aren't you basically saying Happy Valentine's Day for you and
your loved ones? Or is it come off? He's like,
when you're saying Happy Valentine's Day, it's kind of like,
yeah that yeah, does that be in disrespectful? You could
say it like two dudes, Yeah, that's being together.
Speaker 13 (02:23:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:23:17):
Is that what it sounds? Is that what it sounds
like when I say Valentine's Day to a guy? Kind
of yeah, that's a good point. It's kind of exhilarating
saying I'm I cann lie to you. Okay, next guy
that comes home and tell them to go after himself. Well,
I mean you can tell.
Speaker 5 (02:23:28):
I guess if you're gonna tell a guy Happy Valentine's Day,
you probably should throw in the ay man, Happy Valentine's
d exactly, not like because you know how you say,
tell me about it, Stud, it's kind of like, hey,
happy Valentine's Day.
Speaker 1 (02:23:42):
At that kind of you can't.
Speaker 4 (02:23:43):
Look at ude his eyes and say Happy Valentine's Day
if you're really not trying to sing him Happy Valentine's Day, right,
unless it's a.
Speaker 5 (02:23:49):
Hey, look if you you and your guy have Valentine's
Day plants today, Sean, that's fine, man, I'm not judging you.
Speaker 4 (02:23:55):
We accept everybody, all right. Uh, now that I've got
Clarence Clarence, let's go.
Speaker 9 (02:24:03):
Girl.
Speaker 4 (02:24:03):
I don't understand, Brian, I don't understand why why you
want to herd me? I don't. I don't. Hey, did
you guys go to the Travel Softball game last night?
Speaker 9 (02:24:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:24:11):
That invite got lost in the mail.
Speaker 5 (02:24:13):
Mini Park. Yeah, they have the HBCU yes, Diking Parks.
Sorry yeah, sorry? Uh they have the HBCU Classic this
weekend over at Minime Park. Gosh, dang at Dyke in Park.
Texas Southern will be there get lost in the mail.
One of my college teammates, Eli Diego, is an assistant
(02:24:34):
coach for Texas Southern.
Speaker 4 (02:24:35):
Do you call him a Lego Diego? I think that
was what Michael Michael Diego was, Michae Lego Diego, like
Lego Diego, you.
Speaker 5 (02:24:45):
Know with that Soul Ras State taking on Angelo State
this weekend. Angelo State's number two in the country. Dude,
we are about to get our asses.
Speaker 4 (02:24:56):
Why why is sol State? Seems like every season we're
talking about how bad well getting asking? No, No, it's
it's for football.
Speaker 5 (02:25:02):
It's actually for all sports because we just made the
jump from D three to D two and the lone
Star Conference is it ain't no punk bitch, it's there's
some really, really really good teams in the well.
Speaker 4 (02:25:12):
Welcome to elevation, brother, dude, step up your game, right
Soul Ross Yeah man, yeah, let me read you some
scores against lubb It Christian. This is the Soul Ross segment.
I like it, dude, this is not good. We just
got our asses kicked.
Speaker 1 (02:25:30):
Love it.
Speaker 5 (02:25:30):
Christian beat us eighteen to four, sixteen to ten. Where
are the other four? Hold on the other two sounds
like pitching is the strength for you guys. We lost
fifteen to seven, twenty five to one, sixteen to ten,
and eighteen to four.
Speaker 4 (02:25:49):
The hell are you guys rolling out there? Probably eighty five?
That's it, eighty five and with no zero movement with
with cement mixer, curveballs. Sh yeah, man, not good, hey,
but I'll tell you what we Basically, you guys are
throwing batting practice.
Speaker 5 (02:26:03):
We stole one from Saint Mary's, though Saint Mary's also
a really good program. We won sixty two. We lost
two out of three to them, though, I don't worry.
We'll get back in there. And nothing says you gotta
take your lumps, you.
Speaker 4 (02:26:15):
Know, nothing says eighty two and straight take twenty five
twenty five runs and average at about fourteen or fifteen
on the staff, love it.
Speaker 5 (02:26:24):
Chris is a launching pad though I got to play
there my sophomore year. Yeah, the launch pad's one thing,
but it's twenty five runs.
Speaker 4 (02:26:30):
It's a lot of runs. That's where I played against
the Mike Marshall kid. Yeah, you can be sitting on
top of the fence and not score twenty five runs, right,
That's how that's a lot of runs are scoring in
a game. So Mike Marshall, that you know is there's
two Mike Marshalls, right, former, the Mike Marshall before my
most seventies. Mike Marshall appeared in one hundred and twenty
(02:26:50):
games or something. Yeah, one hundred and twelve games as
a relief pitcher for the Dodgers. My Mike Marshall, the
guy who's I was in his wedding as a groomsman,
and there you go, and Sacks and I is the
first baseman number five who played for the Dodgers during
the World Series with Gibson. He was first base, Sacks
was second base Sacks and nine Beach Cressey. Who's Mark
Cressey has a son who's the hell of a baseball player. Yeah,
(02:27:11):
he was the third grooms and there was three of us, myself,
Steve Sacks, and Mark Kressey. Cressey was a bullpen coach
at the time for the Dodgers. So the first baseman,
Mike Marshall's myke guy, the guy with the all time saves,
you know, our all time appearances, who makes one hundred
and fifteen or hundred and twelve or I want to
say one hundred and twelve. It might have been one
hundred and eighteen, one hundred and twenty one appearances in
(02:27:32):
one hundred and sixty two games. So this is so old.
Mike Marshall you're talking about. Is the Mike Marshall my friend? Ye,
his kid.
Speaker 5 (02:27:39):
So Mike Marshall, the one that played first baseman, first
base for the Dodgers. That was who you were in
that wedding. Yes, his son, Mike Marshall.
Speaker 4 (02:27:47):
Yeah, Mike. We grew his daughter with me, his wife.
Uh huh, sc gal. His Mikey is what we called
him when he was born.
Speaker 5 (02:27:57):
He played I played against him in college. I was
a sophomore. He was a junior at Lubbitt Christian. He
had transferred in from Stanford. He was starting at Stanford
as a freshman, good baseball in the College World Series
and transferre to Lobbitt Christian because at the time, Lubbett
Christian was NAI, so you could essentially get drafted. Let's
(02:28:19):
say you went to a ball and you got cut,
you could come back and play at an NAI. It
was crazy at rule, their starting shortstop that year had
played two years for the Giants and came back to
college to try to get his draft stock to go
back up. Mike Marshall hit two bombs against US, played
first base. He finished that he finished that season. He
also pitched. He was nine to zero well a four
(02:28:39):
point four ERA, one hundred strikeouts. He also hit three
thirty seven fifteen bombs and sixty eight RBIs. He got
drafted by the Phillies that year. Yeah, you think it
was pretty good? Was his dad was a grinder.
Speaker 4 (02:28:52):
Yeah. We used to get on on road trips for
when he was rehabbing. We'd go and take batting practice
a Dodger stadium and had a blast. And Mike was
the ultimate pro. He's going to show up and work
his ass.
Speaker 5 (02:29:03):
A kid that year had a broken foot and threw
a three hit shutout against Louisiana State Treeport l s
U s AT in the NAI World Series. All these
years and there Brad Kressey I coached against Mark, Brad Marks,
Mark Cressey's son. I coach against Brad Kressey's son. Or
I coached against Brad Kressey and his son is Bert Kresty,
(02:29:25):
one of my favorite got Mark's grandson. Yes, that's Mark's
grandson and Brad I I know Brad personally, like we
we coach against each other.
Speaker 4 (02:29:32):
We hit some what a small world US four getting
ready for that wedding. Yeah, I can sax and we
had so many laughs and so much It was memorable
because all Beach Cresty, all time great dude, and Steve Sax.
He's been a guest on the Steve's Great and Mike
we can get my con. I haven't talked to him
in a while, but I he was boyle boy was
(02:29:52):
he was he? That was a great group to hang around, man,
and there was fun. Fun to go to Dodger Stadium
on a regular basis and watch those guys. What was
it was a blessing? I bet that was insane. Yeah,
good times all I bet.
Speaker 13 (02:30:04):
Man.
Speaker 5 (02:30:04):
Let's get into the final segment here on a Friday
edition seven one, three, two, two five, seven ninety. Couple
of calls left and we'll continue to talk astros on
Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 7 (02:30:14):

The most overrated UH holiday there is Man just had

Speaker 4 (02:30:48):
Name we're we are with? Oh yeah, Hayden wes Nesky?
Speaker 21 (02:30:54):

Speaker 17 (02:30:55):
What?
Speaker 4 (02:30:56):
When? Do when do Sneesky or whatever?
Speaker 5 (02:30:58):
They you know, the callers are gonna call yeah, not Webbing, No,
not Webbing I mean, and not to be confused with
Bobby slow Walk.
Speaker 4 (02:31:06):
Or the general Bobby Slovic. Ain't that the best though?
Like it's like just a running joke on our show.
Just every time a caller calls in. It just absolutely
butcher TJ. Strauss, you know what I mean, that's the
quarterback for the Texans. It's good stuff.
Speaker 24 (02:31:20):
I'm not even gonna lie. I go back and listen
to the call. I love Joseph Man. He's a great dude.
He called in earlier, but.
Speaker 4 (02:31:27):
Birkmin he wanted Birkman back. Alex Breckman, Yes, and I'm
still worried. I don't know where Lance Brickman is gonna sign,
so I don't know. It's funny, good stuff.
Speaker 24 (02:31:39):
Hey man, y'all have a great weekend. Hope you get
a little Valentine's Day love. Happy Valentine's Day at all
the bbw's and all the torqued us out there.

Speaker 5 (02:32:03):
But I'm gonna be I'm gonna be following this Aaron
Rodgers drama all weekend. The Jets that they were moving
on from him, They officially told him college hoops.
Speaker 4 (02:32:13):
For me, you're not watching college I'll turn on the
All Star Game, like for the starting lunch, to see
if they're doing what they always doing. If it's like
ninety to forty or ninety to ninety eight, at ninety
to eighty eight at the end of the first quarter, yep,
although you know, four hundred total points in the game,
I'll be done, but you know I won't. I'll turn
it on for a second just to see, and all
(02:32:34):
of a sudden, I see some defense. I might stay tuned. Man,
you know some were clearing the lane out for throw
off the backboard dunks that we see every year. But
I used to love the NBA All Star Game. To me,
it just it's it's just filling space and it's you know,
it's a fan thing. But I don't even know if
the fans love it like this, but I guess they
do because it's a celebrity filled in for Where is
the All Star Game being played this year? San Francisco? Okay,
(02:32:56):
So it's at the Golden State Warriors facility. Yeah, their
their stadud the stadium, so the bay. Yeah, I I
you know what, it's not put it this way. I'll
have to Is it a night They used to have
it in the middle of the day. Is it a
primetime game. It's primetime, So they used to have it
like in the afternoon, and it was even better. It
was better when I went to the All Star Game
of the fabulous form. I told you that when it
(02:33:18):
was it was like a one o'clock start, let's see,
and it was freaking awesome. Man, you got the celebrity
game tonight. Yeah, no, so I'll watch it, but I
I don't the All Star Games. If grown tired, it sucks. Yeah,
it's grown tired. So it's not uh, it sucks. It's
not like it used to be. No, and that's not
old head. That's just the fact the All Star Game,
(02:33:40):
you're you're watching it when they're scoring one hundred and ninety.
Speaker 5 (02:33:42):
Oh yeah, I forgot that. They changed up the whole format.
So now it's there's four teams.
Speaker 4 (02:33:47):
Oh that's right. See how much I pay attention that.
That's exactly No, I'm not watching.
Speaker 5 (02:33:51):
It's Team Kenny versus Team Chuck at seven to twenty,
and then it's Team Shack at Team Candice.
Speaker 4 (02:33:58):
And those two play each other again, and then the
win play each other at nine and nine o'clock. Yeah, yeah,
I forgot about that. That show goes to show you
how much I care. Yeah, I forgot that that the
new format. I'll pass nine o'clock at night. Yeah, on
a Sunday, Yeah, even though it's a holiday Monday, I'll
be and I'll be bellied up in the sheets or so.
I'm watching reruns A Dead Bang with Don Johnson and
(02:34:20):
Harley Davidson. The Marlborough man.
Speaker 5 (02:34:24):
Our guy Ryan said Happy Valentine's Day to Sean and Brian.
