Speaker 1 (00:02):
Salisbury. Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Sewn Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (00:12):
To usc true longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Dan Matthews, this is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 4 (00:23):
It's one nothing.
Speaker 5 (00:24):
Astros Freed with the high light kick delivers this one's
pounced on deep to left field, going back to Mingez
that it's off the wall. L Twovey around third base.
They're gonna send him here he comes, He's gonna score.
It's two nothing. L two by scored twice. Walker with
a big RBI double.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
Three two weekends.
Speaker 6 (00:45):
Smith lines it over the head of Rising down the
right field line.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Corea scores, Walker scores in.
Speaker 6 (00:52):
The third base Sanchez a two run double for camp
Smith and the Astros leads four to nothing. Hey, it
hits it well at de Ta left field, down the line,
and that ball is go. Carlos Carrea goes yard and
the Astros go up five to one.
Speaker 4 (01:11):
Carre is knife home run of the season. Oh two,
Swaying got a mesk.
Speaker 6 (01:15):
Good morning, good afternoon, and good night Anthony Volpi, and
that is the ball game. Brian King strikes out the
side of the ninth as the Astros defeat the Yankees
seven to one to take two out of three in the.
Speaker 4 (01:27):
Bronx, just the way the Astros drew it up.
Speaker 7 (01:31):
Yesterday afternoon at the Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. And
with that we say away we go in good Morning
here on the Sean Salisbury Show. Stros take two out
of three from the Yankees over the weekend, and Sean,
I mean, disdain Dan had to come out, and it
had to come out in a huge way on Saturday
(01:53):
because multiple opportunities to be able to try to take
a lead, keep a lead, and be able to enforce
a lead go by the wayside for the Astros or go.
They lose that game five to four. But then yesterday
a different story, right.
Speaker 8 (02:10):
Yeah, so they win two or three. Good morning morning,
and you're and you're still disdained Dan. You wanted to
do you want a full blown sweet I mean you
talk about you went from disdain Dan to greedy Dan. Yeah,
so a different g GD we can use here, Yeah,
the one you can't use on the air. You can't
(02:32):
say that. Plenty of people unfortunately, do you know, I
never use that, you know, never use that word in
my life. Really think about it, think I swear to you.
Think about that for a second. I mean, I'll drop
that bomb like I'll drink water if nobody's no kids.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
Are around or something. But I've never used that word
in my life. Good for you, weird, But I digress.
Speaker 8 (02:53):
But there's times when I've needed to Well, no, I
take that back, We've all wanted to. But they at
least they hung around on Saturday, right, I mean they
put it this way. The Yankees knew every single game
they had to earn it, and they only earned one.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
And then in the Texans, the Texans, the we'll get
to them.
Speaker 8 (03:11):
The Astros took care of two of them and they'll
come home for another three. So accomplishment or goal should
I say, at least in the win Colm, win the
series and win the rest of your series, and you're
going to win this division.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
So a good one going on the road.
Speaker 8 (03:28):
And you know, missed opportunity Saturday, but Friday and Sunday
took care of it.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
Was a good thing to see.
Speaker 7 (03:34):
Yeah, I mean, in all and all, I mean when
you factor in the sweep last weekend, which gosh, every
yep Sean I threw it out in the tweet this morning,
finally home. Doesn't it feel like they've been on the
road for like a month. Well, it's seriously like it
feels like it does.
Speaker 8 (03:47):
Yeah, it feels like we haven't seen him at home
since well, it feels like we haven't seen him at
home since the damn All Star Game.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
I know, it's weird. It's been a minute, there's no
doubt about it.
Speaker 7 (03:58):
Yeah, I mean, a couple of off there, but you
get swept last weekend against the Red Sox and then
you take two out of three from the Marlins and
then same deal up in New York. So it's a
four and five road trip. I mean, and to the
point you just brought up, it's incredibly valid about winning
series because that's not what they had been doing. They
had lost five of their last seven series, and that's
(04:19):
why you see the lead now down to a half
a game over the Mariners. But it's also too the
same time with Seattle, they're going to lose again. It's
not like they're going to continue this you know, Gargagia
and wind streak that they're on right now, and it's
going to be so much that it buries the Astros
going out on the East Coast, a place they have
not played well at.
Speaker 8 (04:40):
There is absolutely no question but for them, they've got
to be Seattle has to feel good. I mean, you're
the Astros went two out of three and you still
find a way to gain ground. I meaning, you know,
your half game out of first place. So this is
but this is going to be a blast to watch, Dawn.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
It is.
Speaker 8 (05:00):
I mean for Houston fans probably gripping a little more,
and I would imagine you are too if you're Seattle.
But they both distanced themselves a little bit from the Rangers.
You have to have a major I mean, the Rangers
are going to have to play great baseball to hang
around six and a half out. It's not you know,
it's not a hill you can't climb, but it's still
it's still a pretty significant one. But with the Astros
(05:23):
in Seattle, yeah, half a game, but a place to
go on the road. They're exactly right. What's sixty eight?
And I mean they're both what they're a half game
up in the lost column? Are the Astros? I think,
if I'm not mistaken, whether they've played one more game
than the Astros have. So yeah, I'm I'm really looking
forward to this run, Dan, because I told you I
(05:45):
love this time here and I'm a glutton for punishment.
I enjoy I enjoy the drama, and I think they're
better when they have to play like this.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
I do.
Speaker 8 (05:54):
I think I was watching, you know, watching golf yesterday,
Dan and you know these FedEx Cup and watching poor
Tommy Fleetwood who just can't close. Good gracious, I love
the guy. It's just a bummer. But justin Rose and
you're thinking, Okay, he's three shots back with three to
play or whatever it was, or two to play and
could and he closed it out in extra holes against
(06:17):
the guy who wasn't leading.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
It was against JJ spond. But the fact that he
just talked. He had mentioned in his postgame interview how
he got better when as it started to go, he goes,
I get I get nervous.
Speaker 8 (06:30):
You know, he's a forty five year old brit and
everybody's like he seems so poised, like this is just
kind of he's toying with a bunch of kids, right Well,
he gets competitive and says, no, I don't want age
for anybody to give that too much credit. Hecker, I'm
still pointing pretty good golf. But he s hid it
farther and he did when he was thirty. But as
he made a great point, he said, you know what,
And he's always brutally honest. He says, I just I
(06:53):
feel nervous.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
He goes, But as I get as it continues to
go on and it gets a little more intense, and
it gets a little more He didn't use word pressure,
but I can't remember the word he used, but that's
that's what he was insinuating. It felt like it brought
out better golf than him.
Speaker 8 (07:08):
And you know, the parallels and some of these things
in other sports compared to the one year we're talking about,
are pretty you know, like when you talk about life
and football, the parallels and getting kicked in the teeth
and getting back up or in baseball pressure, it may
come down to one swing of the bat or one
putting the ball in play. Golf, same way, guy missed
the fairway by two feet in that rough, you've got
(07:28):
no shot. Guy misses it a foot to the left
and it's in the first cut of rough, and now
you got a shot.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
I mean, it's incredible.
Speaker 8 (07:37):
And when he said that, I was thinking, is the
day when thinking about the Astros and thinking this is
kind of who they've been two years ago.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
Got to win five out of six. They do.
Speaker 8 (07:48):
While they lost in the playoffs last year, the ups
and downs of their bats last year, boom, they find
a way to get in although they they but they
seem to elevate. You know, we see the great players
on Karrea and you know those guys who are great
at the end of games, you know in postseason when
Springer was here and Correa seems to always do it,
(08:10):
and boy.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
Is he really good and been a great addition to
this team.
Speaker 8 (08:13):
But the point I'm making is, even though the lead
is closed, I don't think we should expect the Astros
to play their worst baseball. I think it's quite the opposite.
And I saw that from a veteran in Justin Rose,
who's been in these situations a million times, and he
hadn't been real good in the playoff record, but he's
put himself in position.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
Well he won yesterday.
Speaker 8 (08:33):
And now you got the askers who seem to have
these situations all the time. But if we're not going
to trust history, what are we supposed to trust?
Speaker 9 (08:42):
Now?
Speaker 8 (08:42):
It's different bodies on this since twenty seventeen, but you
do have to give some trust in that goes back
to something we laugh a joke about but the resilience
and grit talk every week here they are.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Even though the lead's diminished. I almost liked them in
this situation more than I do with it nine game lead, Dan,
the division. I want the comfort level.
Speaker 8 (09:03):
But what happens when you've got to play like this
the rest of the year, Dan, when it gets to
the post. As long as your bullpens rest and your
starters are doing their job, and let's just see how
I'm playing the same baseball. Don't you believe in the
fact that staying competitive matters? Think about when you do something, Dan,
take two weeks off. You're kicking ass for rolling on
this show. It's going to take a two weeks, but
you know you're gone for two weeks and take a
(09:24):
week vacation.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
You come back, doesn't it feel different.
Speaker 8 (09:30):
At least to start, at least not even sluggish, just
the you know you're excited to be back with getting
into it right, that that laser focus on right exactly
because you've been out here like, oh yeah, I saw
part of the game, but I really one thing about
its deep sea fishing, right, And I'll get back and
I'll catch back up. And so you and then when
(09:51):
you do, it's like, Okay, I'm right where I need
to be. This is who I am. That when when
you get a nine game lead, isn't that vacation time
with twenty games to go, It's like, come on, now
we're gonna rest people our mindset. Now what is your mindset?
You're thinking postseason? So you kind of forget and I
just think being in the moment is a good thing. Dan,
(10:12):
I'm a big believer. I think being in the moment.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
Is a good thing. And I think by there's a
there's a plus.
Speaker 8 (10:19):
When there's a minus, I think there's you may take
a step back, but instead there's two steps forward here
because I think this is when the ass was going
on the road. Oh you got to go into Yankee Stadium,
oh the hated Yankee and you went to a three
and could have swept series. And now you get to
come home against Boston. See, you've got to stay on
edge the whole time. There's no vacation time.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
Yet. Now the stuff you and I have been pining
for is what.
Speaker 8 (10:41):
Play your guys every day while your starters every day
a nine game lead. Guess what you're not doing the
guys that need rest like altu vele get a day
off here and there, But opinion, they got to be
in a lineup and this almost forces that hand because
you know what, get down game and a half for
two and a half games, now you're that pressure shifts.
(11:04):
Now you are three shots down with four holes to play,
and that's not fun.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
That is not fun. So I'm a glutton for punishment, guess.
And I don't know if the metrics bear this out
over this last decade, but from my eye test since
I've been here and the lot, I feel like the
Astros thrive on this stuff.
Speaker 8 (11:25):
It's close now, it's a day to day thing, and
I kind of think they like living like that.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
That's just me.
Speaker 8 (11:31):
Everybody wants the comfort of a cushion, but sometimes everybody's
not good with the comfort of the cushion because they.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
Get too relaxed. I don't think that's the Astros.
Speaker 8 (11:41):
I love that the divisions is tight because it tells
me that the focus is going to be in for
these last forty three forty four games and they're gonna
have to do it again this week this week to
start this three game series against the Red Sox.
Speaker 7 (11:53):
Yeah, it doesn't get any easier tonight because the guy
that's going to be on the bump for the other team,
Garrett Croshing.
Speaker 4 (12:00):
He's pretty good.
Speaker 8 (12:01):
Yeah, when I say names like Hutter Brown or Fromber
and Tarrek Schouble, and you know, when Otani's right, there's
about a handful of names you'll mention and guess whose
name this year, And guess whose name's in the first
three or fourteen picture. The way he's pitching, now, there's
(12:22):
nobody pitching better. Let's put it that way. He's pitching
as well as anybody in baseball. And Garrett Crochet is nasty.
So they're going to have to the hitters are going
to have to say, we've got to find a way
to do it at manufactor whatever you got to do,
because on the other side, and then your pitcher knows
that you don't get to you don't get to scatter
(12:44):
seventeen hits.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
And give up nine runs when that guy's pitching.
Speaker 8 (12:47):
This is like when the other team has to face
a great Fromber or when Hunter Brown's at his best,
you know he's coming to town. You're like, everything you
do has got to be playoff thoughts. And that's both
with the obviously they're both in that mode. But well,
you're facing Garrett Crochet.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
You have to be you.
Speaker 8 (13:03):
You have to be selective, and you have to pick
and choose your spots, and when they're there, you can't
miss that guy's pitching that.
Speaker 7 (13:10):
Well, yep, definitely is it is going to be Christian
Hoveer tonight making his twenty twenty five debuts. So see
what he gives the Astros and the Stros. As we mentioned,
come back home for three against the Red Sox and
then three over the weekend against the Baltimore Orioles.
Speaker 4 (13:25):
You can jump aboard if you want.
Speaker 7 (13:27):
Someone three two on two five seven ninety against seven
one three two one two five seven ninety. We've talked
about a little bit. We'll expand on into even more.
The formula is simple for the Astros and we'll discuss
it right here as we're just getting going on a
Monday edition Sean Salisbury Show, Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
Some more. Sean Salisbury on Sports Talk seven ninety We're
Astros and Rockets play and Real Texans Talk.
Speaker 4 (13:55):
Sean.
Speaker 7 (13:55):
Good news from Demiko Ryans. We do expect CJ. Gardner
Johnson back on the field at some point this season.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
That's good news.
Speaker 8 (14:04):
I mean, I'll tell you though, his leadership can work
with without without him on the field. Does that make sense? Man, Sure,
there's a guy. There's guys who can hang around and impact.
He feels like a voice loud enough and he's in
tune enough that even if he is or isn't there,
he's there.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
You know those guys that hang around.
Speaker 8 (14:23):
So I'm I'm you want him obviously every single day
around because the guy has winning culture and he gets
it and he's also so he's he's the guy that
when you go into play them, you know, you know
he's there too the opponent does. So yeah, that's good news.
(14:44):
I mean, the good news is anytime you can get
him is a great thing. But I also think the
best news is that when you got him this offseason,
you've got a guy who will be involved no matter what.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
And that's a good thing. Yeah. And I didn't Dann Beyond,
I didn't watch.
Speaker 8 (15:00):
I was, you know, from baseball and then and was
knocking balls around. I did not see. But a couple
of minutes of the game don't to me. I'll go
back and I take it, go back and watch it,
which I haven't. I don't care about the score of
the game. I care about seeing you know, backups and
starters that are young guys are coming off an injury play.
(15:21):
But having him around is always a good thing. And
it's preseason, so we'll have some chance to temper all
the thoughts to go around. Because if we go by
by one game, around this team and any other team
shod Or Sanders and Tyler Sugar in the Hall of
Fame MC. I mean you, honestly, you look around and
(15:42):
right now crown them in the Hall of Fame, and
that that we don't have to play anymore.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
And the point I'm making it's a good thing.
Speaker 8 (15:48):
Listen, you don't listen while this the game doesn't matter.
Speaker 1 (15:55):
Or the game doesn't count. It does.
Speaker 8 (15:59):
But you know what I'm saying, Like I've always said,
it may not matter to Yesterday, to st.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
CJ.
Speaker 8 (16:04):
Stroud, you want your guys are round, But the score
of the game may not matter to Kevin O'Connell. But
you know what, like Dinny Green always told us, if
you're going to play and win them, meaning if you're
a backup and you go out to play, it's contagious.
You want to win you're not going out there and lose.
You going out there to win. But well the score
doesn't matter. It's a bunch of the truth. Dan, which preseason.
(16:26):
I don't mean you go off the beaten path. We'll
get back, I know on these astros because I don't
want to bear the leave Jason Alexander.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
Was off the charts. But we'll get to that.
Speaker 8 (16:33):
Is what happens is it's simply individual. But it is
during the regular season too, but more in the preseason.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
The focus is guys trying to make teams.
Speaker 8 (16:44):
How do they validate what we've seen on the practice
field in a good way or some validate it in
a way that you're like, they haven't practiced. Well, let's
hope this guy's a gamer, right, and then they go
out there and they realize, well, he doesn't practice.
Speaker 1 (16:56):
Well, any isn't a gamer. Okay, Now you go into game.
Speaker 8 (16:58):
Two thinking does this guy belong on this roster and
the opposite history you're like, damn, he practices.
Speaker 1 (17:04):
Butt off. We drafted the guy in the sixth round
or he was a free agent and undrafted free agent
he's practice is ass off.
Speaker 8 (17:12):
Let's go see what he does on the game is
this just is he a practice field All American? And
then he goes in place pretty well, You're like, okay,
make me a little put a little marked by his name,
knowing game two, we're gonna put him in some other situations.
Speaker 1 (17:25):
So it's individual games in a matter of a game.
Does that matter?
Speaker 8 (17:28):
Does that make sense that that's how you're judging preseason
and the daily grind. I've said every day, can the
guy sustain three four days in a row of practicing
and the input we put in and put it in
the library and the handle on the medal, and then
the game's just validation. So well, the score doesn't matter.
Danny Green always believed and I'm with him that if
(17:49):
I'm the backup and I know him facing it in
my career, especially early when you were a backup trying
to make an impression on Wood in the first round
draft pick, how important do you think this? Not only
did daily practice to validate? I mean was playing my
ass off in practice. I don't mean that braget, I
just was. It was one of those where I needed
to that six quarterbacks in camp. I had every single
practice and there was three veterans in one that had
(18:12):
got drafted now and I had shredded my knee twice,
so I was already in a battle right knowing that
every single you know how some guy misses a throw
during one on one, well you can miss him. But
for me, it was like, I can't let the ball
hit the ground one time. And it just also has
to make good mental decisions and audible checks in the
(18:33):
run game, any of that.
Speaker 1 (18:35):
But so you go validate.
Speaker 8 (18:37):
Then you go play a game and validate. So the
next week you're like, this is our six quarterback. The
damn we may have miss judged this. Then the next
week you've moved up and you're getting more practice reps.
So it really, well, the score doesn't matter the game
does I mean the game does? It matters to Davis Mills.
It matters to maybe not even as much as him
(18:58):
anymore because he's a solidified back, but it does matter
to those guys around the league that are trying to
scramble and make a team. Matter of fact, Summer never
going to see the field again, wants pre seeds over
they'll never get on chance, or that aging veteran who's
nine years in the league's a little bit of a journeyman.
Makes more money than the rookie. Hees trying to impress
that you need me on this team. So while, like
(19:19):
I said, the score, you're not looking, but you are
looking for little things that tell you something about each player.
And those are the things that we should be looking
for in preseason.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
And then if you.
Speaker 8 (19:30):
Do both and validate practice on the game, then you're
going to find a way to pick up a check
paycheck and make a team and a life changing moment
for you.
Speaker 1 (19:38):
That every kid's you know, rooted for.
Speaker 8 (19:40):
So but there are guys on the team that don't
need to see the field that can still make an impact,
and you mentioned one in CJ. Gardner Johnson, and I
think we're headed for a good game. So fans, if
you get beat by Minnesota, it's not that big a deal.
Look at the game, inside the game. That's what Demiko
Ryan's luck but did. But Denny did. He said, listen,
the back of are in there. If you're the third
(20:01):
string quarterback and you've got to you get to play.
Speaker 1 (20:03):
A half, you don't want to lose. You're treating that
like a regular season game.
Speaker 8 (20:08):
I can assure you Shador Sanders did not treat this
like a preseason game needed a cam Ward. They did not.
He did not treat this like a preseason game. Matter
of fact, I thought I heard deonce say, no, he
treats this like you would anything else. Like in a
press before the game, he goes, and you'll come out
of this and he'll he'll have a leg up.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
He goes. He doesn't treat He didn't get caught up
on to him. It was a game.
Speaker 8 (20:31):
And if that's who Shadeur Sanders is, and it's going
to bode well for Cleveland.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
So it does matter.
Speaker 8 (20:36):
And those those those moments matter. The score doesn't. So
to the to the Texans and the Vikings. There are
players on that field that this was everything to them.
And next week will be even bigger.
Speaker 7 (20:48):
Yes, and next week we'll be in front of the
home crowd too, as I mentioned, back home to practice.
But talking about the Astros, and we can of course
carry this over Sean, but I mean, how often do
we talk about you need the big guys in this
lineup to be able to factor for you. Two for
five yesterday, Carlos Korea two for three, Jose Al Tuve
three for four, Christian Walker.
Speaker 4 (21:11):
More of that from the Astros. First basemen. We need that.
Speaker 1 (21:13):
Yeah, there's no doubt, Dan.
Speaker 8 (21:17):
If you mean we were told he will start to
get hot and when he does, he'll play.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
Like a pro sign of coming attractions, You damn right.
Speaker 8 (21:26):
And boy, if there was ever a time that coming
attraction needed to be a ride that everybody around the
country was talking about because it was so awesome that
they need that. They absolutely need that. And you know,
I haven't paid attention to every offseason moved by every
I mean all start the trade deadline move by every team.
(21:46):
Paid attention to a lot of them, the big names.
There may be a sneaky name we don't talk about,
but I can tell you this, you'd be hard pressed
to go into that trade deadline and look around the
team teams that were improved by a player or four,
and say that guy's impact is bigger than this guy's impact.
(22:09):
You're gonna you can't look me in the face and
tell me Carlos Queer right now isn't one of the biggest.
And I get skeptical about that stuff. I was well
and you and I talked about, well, what are you
gonna give up to get him?
Speaker 1 (22:19):
Well? Not much?
Speaker 8 (22:19):
Okay, that's the start. Is this that still alive and
well will he be comfortable home?
Speaker 10 (22:25):
Dan?
Speaker 8 (22:26):
Okay, who who's been a better impact, play everyday player
at the end that's come right in? Donnis thing plays
gold well third base? I could like he's been playing
it forever and impact, can hit the leadoff, can hit
in the three hole, can hit in the four hole,
and then just the presidence alone. You tell me a
guy who's played, who's brought more to his team as
(22:46):
far as just the overall need since the All Star break?
Speaker 1 (22:49):
Who's it been?
Speaker 8 (22:51):
I mean Suarez given more, He's given, He's homework. What
a couple of times? Maybe I understand Seattle's hanging around,
but who who in my missing Somebody give me an idea?
Speaker 7 (23:02):
Well, I mean Suarez has been pretty good, Naylor Homeward
yesterday for the Barners.
Speaker 8 (23:06):
Seattle's trade deadline was a good upgrade. That was That's
that's not the point.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
The Rangers, on the other hand, eh, right.
Speaker 8 (23:14):
So can you look at me and tell me honest
that Suarez has been a much bigger impact than Carlos Grant's.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
I can't. I can say they both impacted.
Speaker 8 (23:23):
My point is is it was a brilliant get Carlos
Korea here is an astro. When all is said and
done this year, if this keeps up, your people are
going to point to it and say this was an
important get. You know, I don't know if it's gonna
have it's the Verlander impact, but this is impactful, man,
because you got to look at it's not just batting average, right,
(23:45):
but it was I was. I've been so impressed with
just his presence and wanting him to play every day.
It's a it's a pretty it's a damn good look.
So him being here, even though I know it's diminished,
it's it's I'm just talking about him the individual and
his performance because I can tell you one thing. He
ain't playing a half game of baseball since he's been here.
(24:07):
He's played really good baseball home and again over the weekend.
So I think Carlos Gray's impact here is going to
be felt, and it is going to be felt big
these last four It has to be. Let's put it
that way, and so I give him a lot of credit.
Number sands, just the numbers. I'm just talking about the
entire impact. There'll be very few since the All Star
Break that have done for their team what at least
(24:28):
feels like he's doing for this team, let alone the
performance on the field.
Speaker 4 (24:33):
For sure.
Speaker 7 (24:33):
Let's continue this conversation because I mean, I think that
there is even for the non traded guys at the
deadline that are doing exactly what you're just talking about, Sean.
Speaker 4 (24:43):
So we'll do that here.
Speaker 7 (24:44):
It is a Sean Salisbury show, Sports Talk seven ninety
again the number seven one three two one two five
seven ninety. Again it's Sebone three two one two five
seven ninety getting going here on a Monday Sports Talk
seven ninety.
Speaker 8 (24:56):
Hey, guys, men's tea clinic, let's get started. Or hey,
it's six to six in the morning here, six twenty
eight in the morning. The point we're trying to make
is when you get the men's tea clinic and get
that rejuvenated full body wellness, wellness optimization, six point thirty
in the morning doesn't mean a hill of beans to
you other than you're up early and get to see
(25:16):
the sun rise like I do every day. And while
some of you are saying, no, Sean, I want to
sleep in, but it is that feeling, Okay, I got
to get up.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
How do I feel well?
Speaker 8 (25:25):
Do you want to feel sluggish and irritable. Do you
want to feel like you know, you can't even roll
over and have fun with Mama in the morning because
you just not feeling it. You're it's almost that bored
feeling of I don't want to do anything but sit around. Well,
then you get the Men's Tea clinic, draw a little blood,
and by the end of the day get your results
on testosterone. It's normal to have low testosis you get
(25:46):
older dominisally, it's not an embarrassing thing. It's just one
of those things that happens to people of all ages.
But it is controllable. And that's where you go in
to Men's Tea Clinic. Eleven years now they've been celebrating,
they've been dominating now eleven year anniversary in Dallas and
here they've been changing lives, and they're changing lives. The
hardest thing you have to do is just to go in,
(26:08):
to go in, and then when they get it normalized.
Guess what happens After they get it normalized. Then you
get to get back to living your life and at
a lower gear of it, in high gear and twelve
cylinders and sexual lives better. You're feeling better with your
weekend warriorship where you're dominating again and here's loving life
and you're feeling it not only in the sheets, but
(26:28):
full body wellness, and it's wellness. Optimization is what you're
looking for. That's the phrase of twenty twenty five, and
there's no reason why it shouldn't be the phrase the
rest of your life. If it's not being optimized, then
you need to get the Men's Tea Clinic, unless, of course,
you like staying stuck and quick saying your life isn't
very much fun like it used to be.
Speaker 1 (26:45):
Don't wait, get it done.
Speaker 8 (26:47):
And Men's ta Clinic's there to assist you and to
make your life better. And they've been making lives better
for eleven years, changing them and even in some cases
saving them. When I say that, it's for the reason
of oh, they're getting to do stuff that they knew
they could do that they haven't been doing. And for
some of us, that may be saving you because you
don't want to get locked into feeling that's the.
Speaker 1 (27:07):
Way you're supposed to be. The way you're supposed to
be is living life. Do it. Men'ste Clinic can telp
menstek Clinic dot com five convenient locations Wellness Optimization, men'ste
Clinic dot Com.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
The Sean Salisbury Show continues.
Speaker 4 (27:25):
No, now, you.
Speaker 7 (27:26):
Know, Sean, I threw out this tweet yesterday as I'm
watching Jason Alexander pitch and I said, you know who
he reminds me of. He reminds me of Brad Peacock.
Where Brad Peacock was one of those guys in twenty seventeen.
That not the greatest stuff, but he threw strikes, he
got outs, and he a lot of times would get
(27:47):
you a five six innings in an outing and you're like, Okay, hey,
that plays.
Speaker 4 (27:50):
I like that. That's good stuff.
Speaker 7 (27:52):
Jason Alexander, for the better part of his time with
the Astros, every time he's gone out there, he's given
you a length, and he's also given you're a really
good production. Almost at the point here, Sean that even
though Christian Hobby here is going to throw tonight, you
got Spencer Aarraghatty going tomorrow night. Soon enough, maybe even
Luis Garcia. I don't think I'm taking him out of
this rotation.
Speaker 8 (28:14):
How can you take a guy out that's gone? What
if if my knowledge and memory served me right? Not
just from this one, but his previous start. Are we
looking at it the guy that's gone six scoreless and
back to back games? I believe So, haven't we got
six or seven scoreless innings and back to back games.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Out of him? I believe we have.
Speaker 8 (28:33):
You're you're talking a guy who his last two starts
they haven't sniffed a.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
Run on it.
Speaker 4 (28:39):
Yeah, he hadn't given up a run in twelve straight innings.
Speaker 1 (28:42):
There you go.
Speaker 8 (28:43):
So if it's not a matter of I'll be honest
with you, Dan, and I'm a what are you doing
for me now?
Speaker 10 (28:51):
Guy?
Speaker 8 (28:52):
Not that the history, not that we've we talked about
with the Astros history of there's got to be respect
because every year they perform. I understand history. But there's
a lot of players on this team now that weren't
on it five years ago or three years ago.
Speaker 1 (29:08):
So in life, I get it.
Speaker 8 (29:10):
We there's got to be a respect factor for the
history of what somebody's done. But if you've been great
for six years and two years straight, you're you're hitting
one forty seven and you're thirty nine, it may be
time to think that, well, you ain't playing like you
did six years ago or.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
For the last six years.
Speaker 8 (29:27):
So I'm a history does matter in the legacy and
how you look at a guy or how you approach
some respect wise. I get it in sports and in
life I do, But when it comes to now, I mean,
when it comes to who should or who shouldn't, I'm
an algo and I'll tell you another thing I don't
care about when it comes to this situation. I really
(29:47):
don't care about you with the name on the back
of the jersey tells me oh, And I'm only using
him as an.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
Example because I give him love.
Speaker 8 (29:55):
But he's going through some downstown and with injuries, but
where he's had to discus her and rediscover himself a
Christian hobber. I'm just using his name as an example
because he's getting his start. I don't care about the
name on his back of his jersey. When it comes
to performance, I just don't. Now history says you damn right,
you put him in. If history's right and we get
(30:16):
the guy that got a pay raise at that postseason
that led him to a pairs, You're like, yeah, if
that's the Hobbyer, then in three starts now we'll be
right back at it. But know about now, history. What's
going on Jason Alexander. The Jason Alexander you know, sat
at the end of a bar, or should I say,
was on a comedy a sitcom?
Speaker 1 (30:35):
Right, So that's the Jason.
Speaker 8 (30:37):
Alexander we've be Oh yeah, I know, great actor. No,
this dude, if he's acting, he's doing a hell of
a job of it. This Jason Alexander. You do not
sit down a guy. I don't care who.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
The name is behind him. Then you'll move somebody else.
I see.
Speaker 8 (30:52):
We spend too much time and I love giving respect
for even remove hobbyer from him. Grab another team I
loved give and respect to people. You could use Lance
mc colors. There's no way on God's green Earth I
can start Lance mc colors over Jason Alexander right now,
if that came down to that decision, you can't for
the betterment of the team because if it's goll for ten,
(31:14):
is all the reputation you want. I don't care, but
right now today, and it may change. It's not a
hater or wishing success or failure on anybody.
Speaker 1 (31:24):
It's just a performance. I'm a performance based guy.
Speaker 8 (31:27):
Right now, and put it this way, they would be
making a huge mistake, at least from what we've seen
the last two starts.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
Taking that guy out of the rotation. You can't.
Speaker 8 (31:37):
Why would you now if he goes to the next
two starts and you're in age down is like okay,
we're back to saying okay. Then he gave us two
great Now we got to make a decision based on
what's happening the most recent two after that. So I
personally now listen if show Heyo Tani gets her, the
name on the back of the jersey will pull weight.
Speaker 1 (31:57):
I get it. I think you understand.
Speaker 8 (32:00):
My point is the back of the jersey's not making
decisions for me. Performance is, and I'm playing the guy.
The five guys are the guy who is giving me
the best chance to win, and right now on this
staff the last two games, he's pitched better than anybody
has on the staff the last two games. When it
(32:22):
comes to keeping runs away from home plate, Is he
better than Brown or Fromber Absolutely not. But I'll tell
you what's gone deeper and giving you more than most
to have the last couple of times, So you can't
pull him out now. Somebody's in my opinion, the guys
like them colors that are chasing arena have to show
me a lot to get to the point in their
(32:42):
next star that this guy doesn't belong in your in
your five right now, he's performing, so right now you
roll him out there, It's like I'll see in the
seventh inning, the way he's performed now, is that feasible
to continue? Who the hell knows? So yeah, Dan, I'm I'm,
I'm all for unequivocal at this stage of the season.
Performance is going to get you better, more distance with me,
(33:05):
and I ain't making these decisions than reputation. If we're
making decisions on performance based on past reputation, which goes
back to the back of the baseball card, I personally
don't care if you prove it, yes, because Jason Alexander
the last two starts is proven that he belongs there
because he's doing exactly what you need during this streak.
If it changes, then you can make a change. But
(33:27):
while it's going, you better ride it. A guy belongs
in this rotation right now with the way he's pitch.
No argument for me, that's for sure.
Speaker 7 (33:35):
And yesterday he gives you the fourth start of at
least six innings this year, he's gone no more than
six in any of those four games, but still another
good performance out of him and a second straight win
while he's on the mound too. So that's another thing
that you'd love to see out of your starting pitchers.
Speaker 4 (33:53):
But you mentioned one of.
Speaker 7 (33:55):
The guys that's going to be making his return tonight,
Christian Hobber.
Speaker 4 (33:59):
What can we expect l Repteel.
Speaker 7 (34:01):
We'll discuss that as we get into the seven o'clock
Houry here Sean Salisbury show on a Monday Sports Talk
seven ninety.
Speaker 8 (34:07):
And while guys, this may be labeled a spindle tap
because my guy who owns it runs this is one
of the big founders of this league as well or
heavily involved. Should I say, I got Brody Chapman. But
this is about your child playing football and getting them
taught right at the right league. As you heard with
(34:27):
our last Friday last Thursday, having our group on that
came in and from the Southwest Football League and visiting
to talk about what they're doing. It's a fragile age
when your kids are in the third and the fourth
and the sixth and the seventh and the eighth grade.
The Southwest Football League not only provides great teaching great teaching,
(34:47):
but also provides great mentorship to make your kid better.
Speaker 1 (34:52):
So if you're looking for a.
Speaker 8 (34:53):
League, Southwest Foota League is a nonprofit independent football league
that's been in business since two thousand than three. That's
what we're standing the test of time. They have tackle,
flag and they also have cheer so the gals or
guys whoever doing it can be part of the cheer
practice and getting involved in the Southwest Football League cheerleading
(35:14):
as well. But when it comes to football, and take
it from a guy who did not play tackle football
until he got to high school, flag matters too. The
flagship tackle team is the Oilers Awesome, which is a
seventh and eighth grade team. They've got some great coaches
on board, Weldon Brown, Jonathan Banks, Will Wallace to Code
Allen all that we mentioned last week and when we
(35:36):
had Weldon Brown in the group on They've also got
scholarships available for tackle football. There's been people that have
gone on a recent one to Saint John's on a scholarship.
So they're seeing great players come out of this league
and get a chance to have a scholarship at the
next level. Isn't that what it's about? And it's being
(35:57):
taught right. Their starting conditioning week this week right now,
get out there if you can tonight. It's August eleventh,
Today is the day get out there during conditioning. We
can sign up. You can show up and sign up.

from six to eight pm on the eleventh through the fourteenth.
They got equipment which is free and available for all
the first time tackle football players, so you don't have
to spend and it's expensive. It's the Southwest Football League.
And if your son wants to play tackle football and
he's in the third to the eighth grade, this is
the place for him. The fields and the facilities are phenomenal.

that well guess what he's on the other. Team but no.
Booing i've said at numerous Times sean THAT i don't
tell fans how to. Fan but in this, case right,
here the guy did what was right for. Him he
(38:35):
gave you a lot of great things here In. Houston
let's show the respect and, say, hey, man appreciate everything
you did, here helped us win two world. Titles now
go be great up, there just not so great in
these next three games after, that go?
Speaker 1 (38:49):
Off, yeah why Would i've delve into?
Speaker 8 (38:55):
This And, DAN i was thinking about this over the weekend,
too like when it came to like some of the
football players and ATHLETES i hear And i'm going to
answer your. Point But i've never understood you can compartmentalize
where you can break down give good. Analysis we all
have in our. Opinion don't mis understand strong opinion on
(39:15):
people you do and.
Speaker 2 (39:15):
Don't.
Speaker 8 (39:16):
Life now There's, sands somebody who's been a criminal or
abusive and then they let them back into the.
Speaker 1 (39:21):
League i'm not talking about that. Guy i'm talking about
just a rookie in. General they got drafted by a
team you didn't want them to go.
Speaker 8 (39:29):
To when they're playing against your, team, heck you hate them.
All you, are right in baseball terms or in football,
terms it's, competitive it's. Gamesmanship you want them to fail against.
You you don't Want bregman to hit nine home runs against,
you no. Doubt BUT i was thinking of this And
Shador sanders came to. MIND i understand the family and the,
hype and the kid played the draft, wrong all those
(39:51):
things that you can question and have good, analysis good,
breakdown good insight. On and you can do all, that
and you could say his game and give me the.
Reasons and when some when you do, that there'll be
some who, say, oh you just don't like him because
his last, Name you don't like him because he didn't,
whatever which is Not i'm talking about for. Anybody if
(40:11):
you give, honest good breakdown. Opinion we all have. Opinion that's.
Okay it doesn't have to be, opinions just that if
it was, fact we'd call it.
Speaker 10 (40:20):
Fact.
Speaker 1 (40:20):
Opinion everybody has. One but you don't, also on the other.
Speaker 8 (40:24):
Side have to root for people's failure unless they're playing
against your favorite. TEAM i sure as hell as A
raider fan or, folks as A texans, fan do not
want a guy that you watch you, say, man he's
got a good. Game to come here and tear you,
apart and like Like Ty hilton did T Y hilton
did when he Played it's like may. Alive can't stand
(40:46):
the guy when he plays us because he made a
career playing against, Us but you don't have to root
for his failure or his demise when he's playing football.
Elsewhere just in those three. Hours you don't want him.
Hurt i've just never understood the. CONTENT i see it
on social media all. Time there's quarterbacks THAT i may
not like their game AND i don't like the way
they go about their. Business but IF i can give
good analysis or a right guard or a defensive, Back
(41:09):
i'm giving the analysis on WHAT i see and breaking down.
Speaker 1 (41:11):
Tape but why DO i have to root for their?
Speaker 8 (41:14):
Failure In Shaduro sander's, CASE i wouldn't have picked him
in the first.
Speaker 1 (41:18):
Round it's one.
Speaker 8 (41:19):
Priest if he's going to The hall Of, fame Then
Tyler shug is. Too, okay there's another rookie quarterback after their.
Group really good performances when you break, down WHICH i
will this week on some other STUFF i do and
going on show In cleveland's WHAT i thought was really
good About Shade sanders and what he. Missed BUT i
had no time root for a person's failure BECAUSE i
(41:40):
do believe in. Karma i've just never understood why we
can't compartmentalize and SAY i didn't like, this, this this and,
this and then you to, say, Well Sean, man you
just hate.
Speaker 1 (41:49):
Him, no, no, no. No and the.
Speaker 8 (41:51):
Opposite is true that the people tell, you, oh you
gotta hate. Him he came From. Colorado look at how
he handled what is the young. Man he's a little
misled on sometimes and would he you, know a little,
uh flashy and. Stuff BUT i don't root for people
to fail unless they're playing against your. TEAM i don't
want him to. Win it's the same thing here With.
(42:11):
Bregman why would you boo? Him why would you because
he left you and he was free now. Trading you
should never boose somebody because they got. Traded but you're
Cheering carlos korez Ass, on, right H he left you
blatantly and went To minnesota because he wanted more money
and you weren't paying. Him he's back and he's a
(42:32):
back to being a. Hero, Well bregman's not. Back the
truth of the man who knows what's going to happen
in the. Future what he, did he helped put a
ring on a finger that's never had a ring on a.
Finger so, well that's exactly. Right But i'm talking about
the first. ONE i, mean he's been a part of.
It and, listen whether he's your favorite player or, not
you could root for him to go for four and
(42:52):
you get to get the golden. Sombrero Here i'm talking
about when he's not playing your, team like when somebody's
drafted or do they. Go you know what he did
he did with everybody else in the. World AND i
know people will, say, Well win's enough. ENOUGH i don't,
know But win's enough enough for, You, Dan win's enough
enough for the guy across the. Street win's enough enough for.
ME i don't know when of money, WISE i don't
know that. Answer BUT i just have never understood AND
(43:16):
i don't. THINK i Think Ashlo stands will Treat bregman
well and with.
Speaker 1 (43:19):
RESPECT i.
Speaker 8 (43:19):
Do i've just never understood The, hey he thought it
was best for his family to go To boston and
for his. Pocketbook And i'll say it, again WHICH i said,
before if you're a doctor or you're a construction worker
and somebody In, Dallas, Wow, Sean i'm never going to.
Speaker 1 (43:35):
Ouse just.
Speaker 8 (43:36):
Stop if they offer you two hundred and fifty more
thousand dollars to run a construction, company they want you
to be the guy that comes in and takes over
a construction, company a big one because they're struggling and
you've had success In uston and they're offering you three
hundred thousand.
Speaker 1 (43:51):
Dollars more base.
Speaker 8 (43:52):
Salary you know what you're, doing and and you're not
a retirement, age you're not a. Billionaire the money, Matter,
okay you're Taking you got a grand kid or you
got a couple of young kids that are getting ready.
Speaker 1 (44:04):
To go to. College are you taking? It? Yeah? Yeah
does that mean you Hate houston or the guys you
were working? With? No absolutely.
Speaker 8 (44:11):
NOT a nurse that gets elevated to be the top
nurse at a hospital and all of a Sudden mayo
clinic calls are someplace At Johns hopkins and you're In,
houston which is a great medical, city or vice versa
year there and you come here and somebody, decides, oh
are you're the chief of staff doctor now or you
were the head surgeon now you're the chief of staff
and you're making a million extra dollars and you're running the.
(44:33):
Building now you're leaving in a stand and you're not a.
Millionaire the money, is it's another part of the. Goal
the nest egg you're leaving. Now it's when the guy
comes out and, SAYS i got to feed my family
that's making twenty five million a. Year you look at
him like you're an. Idiot somebody needs to give. Perspective
so With, BREGMAN i have zero. Idea bregman wasn't my
(44:55):
favorite player here much respect Hell. SPRINGER i hated it
When springer, Left but WHY i blew. Him he didn't
get paid what he thought was right and he goes
and we're all in the same. Category sam's a few
people that when it comes to quality of life right,
now if the quality of life.
Speaker 1 (45:10):
Just complete would completely. SUCK i get. It but you're
at least gonna. Test it doesn't mean he can't come.
Speaker 8 (45:16):
Back so, UH i would anticipate That Alex bregman gets
a decent hand here, tonight AND i would encourage.
Speaker 4 (45:25):
It, yeah, no AND i think he absolutely.
Speaker 7 (45:28):
Will and you, know not only is he going to
get a decent hand, tonight he's also going to be
facing A Christian xavier for the first. Time and you,
know we can pick this up a little bit. Too
after the stakeout shown WHERE i mean three four Innings,
TONIGHT'S i think is what you're looking at With. Javier
you're not looking for length tonight out Of Christian. Javier
if you got even more than, that that's a massive.
Speaker 8 (45:49):
Bonus you're gonna get a walk. Tonight he's going to
give up a. Hit more than likely he'll he'll strike.
Out you, know he may strike out the side one
any because that elevated fastball that seems so heavy you
can't get. To but but you're you're not coming out
of here with seven innings and no hit ball and
one hundred and two pitches and pull him out the
Temporary you're going to see some, good some, bad and
(46:10):
probably a couple ugly where he can't find the strike
zone with a. Batter, okay that's. Where so let's just
temper our expectations on now anything above that day where
he goes out and most of, it if he gives
you A Jason alexander, performance guess what we should all
be like backlip look, yeh look out rest of. Baseball
so expectations, matter and the expectation the fact that he's
(46:34):
pitching again is my biggest. Expectation get out of a
couple of innings and let's see what it looks.
Speaker 7 (46:39):
Like especially after you didn't think it was going to
be the case this, year and that is.
Speaker 8 (46:44):
Any like four months ahead of time in your. Mind,
dan you thought you were seeing him in the spring
of twenty twenty, six and you AND i both know.
Speaker 7 (46:51):
That so DID. I, YEAH i mean that's that that
seemed like it was going to be the. CASE i,
mean you, Know gordy, brainer and it's, like, yeah anybody
you talked with at the ass they were, like, eh
not so. Sure and THEN i mean he was just
able to continue with the rehab and now we see
him back in the. Fold so it's definitely a good
sight to see. Someone three, two, one, two, five seven

if you are A Paramount plus, subscriber you'll be able
(51:17):

extra hundred bucks to be able to WATCH. UFC i

pay per view fights that were of the, past well
now no longer.
Speaker 8 (51:33):
That's a good, thing, man all, right it's a good.
Thing those guys are printing money, Anyway so what the
hell you know for?
Speaker 4 (51:40):
Sure All?
Speaker 7 (51:41):
Right we talked About Howard stern last week and just
about how he doesn't get. It, WELL i think that
a story THAT i saw over the weekend shows you
that he clearly doesn't get. It The New York post
putting out a story that after he found out That
serious is going to move away from paying him millions upon,
(52:02):
millions they're going to cancel a. Show all of those
things that insiders tell them that he wants to quote
prove he's still one of the best interviewers. Around considering
a shift to video, Streaming, sean that's not the issue with,
Him like it's one of those things that like when you,
know let's just take a buddy of yours or maybe
(52:23):
somebody that you don't necessarily, like but at the same
time you see that they're doing things and you feel
like you're in a position to tell, them, like, hey,
dude like this is why things like this are happening
to you in this case right.
Speaker 4 (52:35):
Here For, stern the interviews were not the.
Speaker 7 (52:37):
Issue the issue was he lost who he was he
was the guy that went against the. Norm he was
the guy that went against the. Power he fought the,
man and then he became the. Man and once that,
happened most of his audience, said, yeah, dude not. Interested
you Have Jenna jamison, On, yeah who.
Speaker 8 (52:54):
Cares, Yeah Howard stern's ability to interview, somebody the fact
that he doesn't interview him the right way, anymore it's
the problem and who he. Is there's no and you're
right about the Interviews dan that you. Know put it this,
way When Howard stern for years he's with The, king
(53:16):
you'd tune, in be driving out of the street, laughing
and it was can't, miss can't listen. Radio it just,
was and, yeah you knew what you were going to
get if you were tuned. In you knew that there's
stuff that you'd, Say oh my, gosh did you just say?
Speaker 1 (53:30):
It but we'd. Laugh people would, laugh.
Speaker 8 (53:32):
Even if you didn't like him or his personality or
just some of the things that his radio show.
Speaker 1 (53:37):
Was he was brilliant with what he, did his.
Speaker 8 (53:40):
Approach hence why somebody was paying him a hundred million
dollars a year for like fifteen years or whatever it.
Was you, know every five years and get a new
hundred million dollar. Deal the deal With Howard stern Is
Howard you're exactly. Right he became the people he used
to either interview somebody about or you, them or make fun,
(54:01):
of or laugh with or joke. With he was just
he was can't miss and then he went. Wacko, okay
listen when the hardest core listeners Of Howard stern can't
stand his can't stand his show because of what he's.
Become and even, then even if anyone goes back TO
(54:22):
i don't have to Like Howard, stern AND i wouldn't.
Go he's not a GUY i want to go to
a ballgame.
Speaker 1 (54:28):
With but when he was doing his.
Speaker 8 (54:30):
SHOW i wanted to listen BECAUSE i laughed and it
was he.
Speaker 1 (54:35):
Did make you think he was really good at.
Speaker 8 (54:37):
Interviewing now he did it in a unique, way but
there was nothing he feared at. All and you've got
to be able to tow the line between it's great
radio and we got to tap you on the shoulder
now in serious accent and say whatever you, want but
tap you on the. Shoulder did you might want to
back off that little? Bit and they let him go
they let him do his, thing and then all of a,
(54:58):
SUDDEN i don't know where it kicked.
Speaker 1 (54:59):
It it had to Be, covid, Right, dan isn't that
about the? TIME i?
Speaker 8 (55:03):
THINK i, MEAN i know that's the big part of,
it but there may have been something else.
Speaker 1 (55:06):
Where he. Went he went.
Speaker 8 (55:09):
Crazy he lost not only his, edge but his radio
show wasn't the same all's he wanted to.
Speaker 1 (55:16):
Do it's like late Night talk When carson.
Speaker 8 (55:19):
And leno And letterman going through all the they would
they would have us fun and make us laugh and
even at times found make you laugh and doing their you,
know doing their stand up before they'd sit down. Interviews
every now and then you'd make fun of a, politician
which is. Great they all deserve to be made fun.
Of but it's stuck to make you, laugh sit down
on the, count have a. Blast it made us go
(55:42):
to bed with a smile on our face When letterman
would do, It Howard, stern when you get out of the,
car you'd pull up to your, DRIVEINGS i gotta listen
to one more. Segment i'm gonna be late for, dinner
BUT i gotta, listen or, BREAKFAST i gotta listen or,
lunch and then he got to the point where it
WAS i can't listen to the. Guy, everybody the things
he said about people that thought different than, him and
(56:02):
then he went. Whack he was the guy that we
all now, say, dude get back into your, basement keep
your glasses on and at your mom's house and lock
the dead, bolt stay down in there and do.
Speaker 1 (56:12):
It he became a. Nutjob, okay it doesn't mean that he.
Speaker 8 (56:16):
Wasn't, great that he's not a, legend that he wasn't,
great and maybe he can get it. Back but the
only way he's getting that back is if during his
interviews and he comes back in digital whatever he, says
he still wants to.
Speaker 1 (56:27):
Prove to the. World you didn't have to prove. Anything
you were.
Speaker 8 (56:30):
There you allowed your disdain and hate for other people
and their decisions completely ruin your, show and it.
Speaker 1 (56:39):
Did he could not.
Speaker 8 (56:41):
Compartmentalize it's every now and then to get it dig.
In it's, fine we all do. It oh, Man i've said.
It look at that whack job walking down the street
with a mask on and NON covid and they don't
have any.
Speaker 1 (56:52):
There they're not, there immune systems.
Speaker 8 (56:54):
Normal it's, like what is wrong with, you and then
you get back to life and you don't hate the.
Speaker 1 (56:58):
Person it's like. Whatever but he.
Speaker 8 (57:02):
This is self Inflicted, dan because he could continue to
write his own. Check if he was still doing The
Howard Stern radio that when the contract expires here it's
about to or it's whenever it, does or it's close to,
it they would have re upped.
Speaker 1 (57:18):
Him they would have given him his.
Speaker 8 (57:20):
Way had he kept Doing Howard Stern radio the right,
way they would they would have re upped. Him but
the problem With Howard stern and he shown what he was,
doing is that he went one hundred and eighty degrees away,
everything the rate and people and. Blame and now he's
on the wrong side of that. Now he, thought if
he didn't get vaxed forty seven, times you WERE i,
(57:43):
mean he just and it was, everything and then that
affected his. Performance the strikeout the day before affected the
next day for him like a baseball. Player, well instead
of moving, on well guess what it's it's it's cost.
Speaker 10 (57:58):
Him.
Speaker 8 (57:59):
Now he'll always go down as a. Legend he belongs
in every Radio hall Of fame on the. Planet he's
been A i, mean he was that guy and now
he's become the guy that we don't laugh, with we laugh.
At and it happened literally. Overnight he went from what
what did he? Say and now his most fervid and
the people who listen to him and love him now are,
(58:21):
LIKE i haven't listened To howard since that. Time i've
not listened to one segment since twenty twenty of, him not.
Speaker 1 (58:30):
One and so, yeah all this, stuff you're.
Speaker 8 (58:33):
Gonna do it, well if you're gonna get into your,
interviews then you better be able to get out of your.
Basement quit tripping and being like, mister the world's coming
to an end if anybody walks, out and everybody should
be doing it the Way Howard's. Stern you're a friggin radio.
Host you're not a, doctor you're not a your, name
not a scientist, Here you're a frigging radio. Host get
those guys on who know how to talk about, it
(58:54):
and then do what.
Speaker 1 (58:54):
Good radio people.
Speaker 8 (58:55):
Do get the opposite opinion on there and interview them
and make them laugh and get your fun actors. There
brilliant at what he, did and is a brilliant. Mind
the problem Is Howard stern's brilliance went to hell in
a handbasket because everything he did was made personal towards
everybody that didn't think like, him and All. Republicans he
got to Understand republicans listened to his show, too or
(59:17):
people that aren't baxed to listen to his show, Too
so he just ran everybody out on.
Speaker 1 (59:22):
Print this is all self.
Speaker 8 (59:23):
Inflicted no other nobody caused this But Howard stern. HIMSELF
i do not feel sorry for him. Now if he
would come back and, say, Listen i'm gonna do it.
Different i've screwed. Up if he had the nerve and
the humble pie to come and, say you know, WHAT
i did some things that cost me all. THIS i
want to make it right and then prove to us
for six months that he can and get. OUT i
(59:44):
don't know if he's got that in. Him, talented, brilliant all,
that but self inflicted nonsense to the point where he
became the butt of the, joke just like everybody was for.
Him when he go on there and make us laugh at,
anything poorn the, actors it didn't.
Speaker 1 (01:00:02):
Matter he could. Make he could turn anything into.
Speaker 8 (01:00:04):
Anything now he's the guy that when you're doing a,
show he's the guy that we're making jokes about of
how pathetic he became over the last five.
Speaker 1 (01:00:14):
Years that is nobody's, fault but.
Speaker 8 (01:00:16):
His it's not his, partners it's Not i'm quite sure
some of the people that worked with him probably looked
around said, dude what do you do? It but his
ego wouldn't let. Him so if it will let, Him
i'm sure somebody will welcome. Back i'm sure he'll get a.
Chance but he's not the same, guy and the only
person that can fix that is. Him Howard stern buried
himself because he did exactly what you can't. Do everything
(01:00:39):
was personal to him since twenty twenty's and he's become
a whack, job a talented one if he.
Speaker 1 (01:00:45):
Wanted, now, listen you can come back from. Things but
it ain't the money he. Needs it's the it's the
respect that he's trying to get back from because everything
he built he lost the last five years BECAUSE i.
WON'T i, wouldn't not just from, me it wouldn't matter to.
Speaker 8 (01:00:59):
Me but the people, who even the people pay him
a hundred million bucks a, year have looked at him and, said,
dude you're not moving the needle, anymore and it's not
because he's not. Talented it's because he lost his way
and it was caused by.
Speaker 7 (01:01:10):
Him, well it's funny what happens when you tell half
your audience to go away and never come, back and
guess what they'll. Do they'll go away and they'll never come.
Back it's like this, Business sean is like owning a,
restaurant owning a. Bar you treat your customers. Right you
let them know that they're. Valued you let them know
even if you disagree with things, personally, politically whatever it
is with, them you still, say, hey your money SPENDS
(01:01:33):
i need to keep this place.
Speaker 11 (01:01:34):
Open.
Speaker 8 (01:01:35):
Yeah so somebody who's a reply that if you're A
democrat and you Hate. REPUBLICANS a guy walks, IN i
know you can't eat here because you've voted for SOMEBODY i.
Speaker 1 (01:01:42):
Didn't then you're. Stupid you're just an.
Speaker 8 (01:01:45):
Idiot as long as there's, respect whatever comes to the
time when what are the times when you didn't care
all you?
Speaker 1 (01:01:51):
Did good people are good. People there's clowns and tricks
on both sides of, it doesn't. Matter good people are good.
Speaker 8 (01:01:57):
People Howard stern had premeditated everything about other, people AND
i got news for. Him When fauci is your go,
to you probably should start.
Speaker 1 (01:02:07):
Over, okay, start start, over, Okay.
Speaker 8 (01:02:10):
Just like if somebody else on the other side is
just like a conspiracy, theorist and when you walk across the,
street you can't because you're gonna Get.
Speaker 1 (01:02:17):
But he's become that.
Speaker 8 (01:02:18):
Guy IF i walk, outside what's gonna happen is a
germ gonna fall out of the sky and hit me
WHEN i got eight masks.
Speaker 1 (01:02:23):
On and four. Hundred, okay, fine if you feel that that's,
you don't heap it upon the rest of. Us he
basically did what you shouldn't.
Speaker 8 (01:02:30):
Do he alienated a bunch of, people and then he wasn't.
Funny and If Howard stern's not, funny his interviews aren't
good and he goes, away.
Speaker 1 (01:02:40):
He'll get a.
Speaker 8 (01:02:40):
Chance but he is going to have to fix. It
nobody else could Fix Howard. Stern his ego is so.
Big if he doesn't want to fix, it you'll never
see him in the same light you did before all
that nonsense of twenty.
Speaker 7 (01:02:50):
Twenty Alan, tyler see you guys right, there work you
guys into the. Conversation you want to join? Him someone
three two one two five seven. Ninety you can it's
someone three two one two five. Seven in about twenty,
Minutes Steve sparks joins us for his weekly Visit this
is The Sewn Salisbury. Show Sports talk seven Ninety.
Speaker 2 (01:03:08):
The Sean Salisbury show continued.
Speaker 4 (01:03:13):
Pointing, Out, hey what's going, on, guy what's?
Speaker 12 (01:03:17):
Up look As, sean it's BACK.
Speaker 1 (01:03:21):
Nfl there, is, yes it.
Speaker 12 (01:03:25):
Is, Hey, hey SURE i was looking at The i'm
gonna give a shout out To.
Speaker 2 (01:03:33):
Indy.
Speaker 12 (01:03:33):
Kollod he was calling the game ON tv. LINE i
think that was one of the best things they could have,
did Because Indy kollud was a great mind and uh
he made a point about when they uh end of
the first, quarter second, quarter they started getting some runs
on our defensive, line and he was mentioning, that you,
(01:03:56):
know they was motioning a lot from the three technique
to the from the. Five that's why the gaps wouldn't
Feel AND i think he did a great. Job that's
first TIME i seen him do on our preseason games on.
Television Indie clue was kind of in depth with what's going,
on and it was a good little shout out The Indie.
Kolud uh second Invall SHUN i.
Speaker 8 (01:04:14):
Just no shot the indie clues as big a pro
as there ever has. Been the guy's always ready for
guy's a phenomenal at his job and a phenomenal human.
Beings so there's no surprise that he was good at.
Speaker 12 (01:04:26):
It, yep, yeah, yeah because he mentioned some tactics that
you just don't, hear you, know outside of you shun
the detail of. It and sometime we just look at
the game and people that's not, entuned and it's good
to listen to the, callers especially a person Like ingdi
yourselftion can get. It and why why why a guy?
Lose the defense sucks not necessarily depends on the technique
(01:04:50):
and all that and how they switching because motions and
all that in the PLAY. U But, SHUN i spoke
to this tip and you can tell me what your
thoughts THAT i hang up and listen look at. It
you need to call on In how about Them? Texas?
Shun WHAT i was talking about? It And i'm gonna
rep it about the offensive, LINE i just Think i'm
gonna put the needle at average or an arrow pointing.
(01:05:11):
UP i just think that get an adjustment to these,
Guys shun and you can speak to this these, guys you,
know we get down on them or.
Speaker 10 (01:05:19):
Whatever BUT i.
Speaker 12 (01:05:19):
Understand the difference because these guys are pros before.
Speaker 10 (01:05:22):
Anything so if.
Speaker 12 (01:05:24):
You think these guys with all this money would not
make the adjustments and, detail AND i think it just
was a little bit Shun and you can tell me
If i'm wrong with the coach and last year the
off o line because WHAT i seen in that game
shun those guys was locked. In AND i tell you,
what LIKE i, SAID i take four guys BEFORE i
(01:05:44):
take five.
Speaker 9 (01:05:45):
Names on the back of the.
Speaker 10 (01:05:46):
Jerseys we got guys a's dogs and.
Speaker 12 (01:05:48):
Hustles these guys have to be locked in their mind that,
Hey i'm gonna pop you on your mouth and i'ma
you not gonna get. Me and that's WHAT i think
before you either go out to play that. Game that
mindset is so important to get these guys a being
mad and like a dog like they did in their last.
Practice enough, enough get after, it get in there and
(01:06:08):
do what you need to. Do AND i think that's.
Good with the new office of coordinating with The, Miko
ryan em is trying to do get these guys in
tuned in their mindset and be. Dogs it ain't About
Pro bowls and all. That just make The knicks. Right
Play quite, SHORT i hang up the vision show.
Speaker 8 (01:06:24):
Man appreciate the. Call oh you're, right real, Quick i'll
just tell you. This, yes they give me dogs with
attitude and. Nasty i'm gonna win more than the guy
who's worried about how his uniforms latched up when he
goes out to. Pregam it's good to look. Good those
guys up, FRONT i don't care about. That and they
will be better this. Year they got no choice but
(01:06:45):
to be. Better AND i Know Demiko ryans and making the.
Change they will be.
Speaker 1 (01:06:50):
Nastier they won't punish themselves as much pre snap. Penalties
they'll be. Better now it's pre.
Speaker 8 (01:06:55):
Season we got to see how they, elevate and they,
will but they will be, better and nasty will be
the number one thing they need to. Do the nastier they,
are the better they'll. Be this team can't go.
Speaker 1 (01:07:07):
Where they want to, go regardless of everybody, else unless
those five cats up front change the way that they.
Play and hopefully and there's new ones there and hopefully
they'll get it done. Right because if they do this team's.
There there is no. Ceiling last, year the offensive line
was a detriment to.
Speaker 8 (01:07:23):
Them at times most of the. Time this year it's
going to. CHANGE i don't know how deep it's going to,
change but it will get.
Speaker 7 (01:07:29):
Better just almost felt like you were playing with one
hand behind your back at times last year. Too and
even with that, said you still won the division and
you still got to do the divisional round.
Speaker 8 (01:07:38):
Weekend so hopefully you use both hands this. Year and
where they're going to divisional round, weekend right and where
they're going that's not there to the point, now just
to get they can get this, division they can get
to the they win the, division play an average offensive,
LINE i, think but play decent or better and upgrade
the division isn't where they want to. Go we know
(01:07:59):
that they have higher, expectations but they won't get there
unless the offensive line plays. Better AND i will wholeheartedly
believe they'll be taught better and they'll be a better
camaraderie getting it done up, front and.
Speaker 1 (01:08:09):
Nastier they have to be nastier for.
Speaker 7 (01:08:12):
Sure Tyler biscuits see you guys right, there working into the.

in the.
Speaker 1 (01:08:39):
Market in their market.
Speaker 8 (01:08:40):
Too, well consider this new vehicle transaction prices right now
hover around forty eight grand, yep forty eight grand a.
Day that's double where they were in just twenty, ten
double in fifteen. Years what's it going to look like
in twenty thirty five or twenty forty, right, well it
far outpaces wage. Increases as you guys, know affordability is a,
(01:09:04):
problem the biggest, problem and with talks of tariffs and other,
noise customers are looking for a, solution and that solution
is affordable monthly. PAYMENTS i put that in capital, letters
affordable monthly. Payments some banks have dealt with, this and
extending financing turns out to get this eighty four. Months
can you imagine seven years? Long twenty percent of auto
(01:09:24):
loans are seven years. Long twenty percent of auto loans
are seven years. Long that's how long you got to
stay in a marriage you don't want to be in seven.
Years it's not a, mortgage. Folks we ain't taking out
mortgages for. Cars if you, are let's fix. It that's
why clients are considering leasing more than any other time
in recent. History DN M leasing is the nation's leasing,
(01:09:45):
leader and that's a, fact the nation's leading leaser with
fifty thousand satisfied customers and clients on the road, today
with forty nine years in the, business almost five decades
they've been doing.
Speaker 1 (01:09:56):
Business so they've listed.
Speaker 8 (01:09:58):
The test of time experts speci IN yep solving high
payment problems with easylease ez lease uh no money down
payments significantly lower than buying and.
Speaker 1 (01:10:10):
Terms that makes.
Speaker 8 (01:10:10):
Sense why wouldn't you call DN M leasing, today, unless of,
course you like seven year loans and like giving your
down payment away when you could use it for something,
else and you want to spend more a, month DON'T
Dnm leasing can.
Speaker 1 (01:10:23):
Help it's called Easy. Lease give them a call today

Speaker 4 (01:10:53):
Tyler gets us, going what's going? On tyler?
Speaker 13 (01:10:56):
There if you mind IF i go back a minute
to That howards during. Conversation, sure, yeah so my thing
is AND i get your comment about you, know him
always trying to be counter of the man and now
he became the. Man but to, me it's more simple than.
THAT i think if you go, woke you go. Broke
and essentially what he's done is he, said, hey half my,
(01:11:17):
AUDIENCE i don't agree with, YOU i don't like. You
and how are you supposed to keep a show going
when you essentially take half your audience and, say, hey
there's really no place for you here. ANYMORE i think
that's what. Happens, yeah and.
Speaker 1 (01:11:29):
You know, what real quick before your next, comment it's
a great. Point you know.
Speaker 8 (01:11:33):
What can you imagine if he had just shifted his
narrative and, SAID i don't agree with, you BUT i love.
You it's, okay we all have an. Opinion you don't
take the VACS i. DO i don't do THIS i.
Will it's.
Speaker 1 (01:11:45):
Okay i'm glad you're along for the.
Speaker 8 (01:11:47):
Ride we all, eventually we'll all kind of settle into
what we. Do would you still listen To Howard? Stern
THEN i would Have, yes you're. Exactly he completely. Alien
he didn't go fifty to. Fifty no, problem, Man we could.
Disagree it's ACTUALLY i remember a time when we used
to disagree, profusely and we called it banter and. Disagreement
and two minutes, later whether it's your friends in high,
(01:12:10):
school or your buddy's in, college or your, job you're
right back at doing what you do and being buddies.
Again he turned it to the point where if you,
don't you're a horrible human. Being, listen if you got,
vaxed you're not a horrible human. Being if you, didn't
you're not a horrible human. Being Howard stern made it
feel like if it wasn't what he, wanted the rest
of us, sucked and he turned. It, yeah and fifty
(01:12:31):
percent of that, audience that's a big. Audience it's this
one hundred percent self. Inflicted you are one hundred percent, correct.
Speaker 10 (01:12:40):
AND i agree with what you just.
Speaker 13 (01:12:41):
Said AND i think it was a question of, timing
and if you look at a lot of the tonight shows,
now it's they still haven't made that. Switch and for,
him he actually to his credit When Donald trump was,
reelected he, said that's not WHO i want, it BUT
i wish him the. Best he's our, president And i'm
going to stop talking bad about. Them but for, that
he deserves more credit than. Most but at that point.
Speaker 10 (01:13:04):
It was like it was already too.
Speaker 1 (01:13:06):
Late, yeah at that, point, well it almost felt when
he said, THAT i hate to say, This i'm going
to try to give him. Credit i'm not reading into.
Speaker 8 (01:13:12):
It it almost felt like it was a makeup, call
that he saw the writing on the, wall, like oh my,
gosh and and here we. Are so you know, What,
listen everybody should be making fun of. Politicians, hell they're
easy to make fun, of, Right but when you're making
fun of, you and you can make fun of your,
audience that's who he.
Speaker 1 (01:13:30):
Is but now the audience is making fun of. Him
if you just SAID i, DISAGREE i don't like, it
well we'll ask, questions but will have. Fun but you know,
what there's.
Speaker 8 (01:13:39):
There's three hundred million of if you're having many, people you,
know in The United, states how many people listen to the.
Show i'm not we can all roll. IN i just
don't understand why you have to hate somebody that you think.
Different then it's never been a and and he he.
Is he will now be the poster child for how
to alienate half your.
Speaker 1 (01:13:55):
Audience and it cost him one hundred million dollars a.
Speaker 7 (01:13:57):
Year, TYLER i appreciate, it. Buddy we got to. Run

Speaker 4 (01:14:20):
As A.
Speaker 2 (01:14:21):
Rocket this Is Sports talk seven, ninety your home for
your home teams from The parsons that match Next Studios, Salisbury.
Speaker 1 (01:14:37):
Oby. Houston, okay let's do.
Speaker 2 (01:14:40):
This Sewan, Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (01:14:44):
Sury so usc, troups longtime Friend Shawn, Salisbury Dan.
Speaker 2 (01:14:47):
Matthews this is The Sean Salisbury, Show.
Speaker 7 (01:14:56):
Take two out of three over the weekend from The
yankees In New. York now get The Red sox back
here at home And, sparky let's start with. That where
yesterday you get the six innings out Of Jason alexander,
scoreless he was. Fantastic you get Both Jose altuve And
Carlos korea factoring at the. PLATES i, mean just how
huge of a boost can that be for this team
(01:15:17):
as they come home for a Crucial homestand, yeah it's.
Speaker 10 (01:15:21):
Perfect dan In New york when you Get korea AND l,
two they just contribute and play so well against The
yankees and very frustrating for their fans of, course and
they haven't been playing, well but The astros to be
able to win pull out of six in that road
trip is perfect before the homecoming Of.
Speaker 8 (01:15:38):
Korea, steve you AND i have been having these conversations
on here for years now about This astros resilience and
grit and AM i? Nuts Maybe i'm just a glutton for,
punishment which is well. NUTS i know you're going to answer, that,
yes of course your, Nutshean BUT i know it's only
a half, game BUT i like it and maybe the
metrics don't bear it, out but maybe it's the player in.
(01:16:00):
Me BUT i like, This, STEVE i DO i like
the fact that it's close and that they got to
stay on edge the whole. Time, sure you'd like a
ten game lead with a week to, go but if
it's gonna be like, this Advantage. Astros they seem to
rise in moments like this two years ago five out
of six to get in and win the.
Speaker 1 (01:16:19):
Tiebreaker So steve AND i.
Speaker 8 (01:16:21):
Don't know what your thought process and if you liked
this as a, player but to, me The astros thrive
and these elements more than they would if they were
comfortable with a twelve run, Lead SAMs getting rest for their, players.
Speaker 10 (01:16:34):
You, KNOW i as a, BROADCASTER i love it as a.
Player the only DRAWBACK i Think sean would be you,
know and this is fresh on my mind just because
the way we saw A. Bray you come into that
game yesterday going ninety four ninety five miles per, hour
and you're, going, man what's going? On pret good, moment close,
game and then he finishes up with three pitches ninety,
(01:16:58):
eight ninety, eight ninety, Nine so they can he kind
of tiptoe into this game as they tend the night
IS i.
Speaker 1 (01:17:04):
Mean what is going?
Speaker 10 (01:17:04):
On SO i think there's some relievers that would definitely
love to have a little bit of some breathing rooms
so they could get some, rest but that's just not
going to be the nature of this race this. YEAR i,
mean very similar to last year with The mariners nipping
at their. Heels BUT i think it's going to go
down the. END i Think seattle is really good AND
(01:17:26):
i think The astros are very good, too SO i
think it's going to be a, really really fun. RACE
i don't want to discount The, rangers and they might
be able to get on a run, too but this
is going to be a fun race AND i love.
That AND i think you're. Right it does keep them
on point and, now and you guys have probably talked
about this this. Morning correy is a difference in moments
(01:17:49):
like this because he keeps everybody on. Point there's no
mental lapses With Carlos carray out. There he keeps everybody,
alert he keeps everybody, energized AND i think he's re energized.
TOO i THINK i don't think they could have gotten
anybody better at this point in time to their franchise
than to Get Carlos carea back in the.
Speaker 1 (01:18:09):
Fold, Yeah, steve with, that there's a big part of.
Speaker 8 (01:18:12):
Me, now there may be somebody with better numbers across
the league since The All Star breakdows. Trade there was, traded,
RIGHT i get. That i'm talking about The i'm talking
about the whole.
Speaker 1 (01:18:21):
Umbrella over the entire player in impact on their new,
team which is his old team but new.
Speaker 8 (01:18:27):
Team there can't be a guy who and he's performing
on the field as. Well there can't be a more
valuable pick up at this point in, time considering the
circumstances with a bunch of injuries they're trying to get.
Healthy Then Carlos korea to this, Team.
Speaker 10 (01:18:45):
Joeyceha he's so. Happy think ABOUT i, mean his parents
live In, houston his wife's parents live In. Houston he
still has a house In houston to be able to
come home and be with some of these lifelong friends
he played with Him Josh. HATER i, MEAN i know
he's gone all over the, place but those two were
teammates in a couple of different spots in the mind.
(01:19:07):
Leagues there's a lot of close friendships on this. Team
In korea is a big part of. This but when
you watch the, games AND i know they probably talked
about on the television broadcast. Too he goes out to
the mound and the catcher's, there and then all three
of the other infielders. There he's like a. Magnet everybody
wants to hear what he has to say in a
(01:19:27):
conference between a pitcher and a, catcher so HE i,
mean there's a lot of validity to what he says and,
does and he's going to keep everybody on their toes
AND i love. IT i think they needed, it they
needed an extra. Leader AND i remember What Joe espotta
was talking. About you, know we were At fenway and
we were listening To joe and one of the things
(01:19:49):
he said Was carlinos just kept talking calling me and
he wanted to know About Christian. Walker he wanted to
know about so and so and, so and that he
wanted to know made guys. Click and he wanted to
be the best teammate he could for all of these
guys as soon as he stepped in the door and he.
Asked but he wanted all that information just about the
(01:20:11):
personalities of his new.
Speaker 7 (01:20:13):
Teammates Steve spars joins us for his weekly visit here
on The Seawan Salisbury Show Sports talk seven Ninety what
did we see different From Brian king yesterday because the
previous outings had not looked like what.
Speaker 4 (01:20:25):
Yesterday's did.
Speaker 10 (01:20:27):
You know WHAT i asked the pitching coach last night
we were on the. PLANE i just, said, hey Did
brian race his arm angle a little? Bit looked to
me like he, had you, know got his hand up
a little bit higher on his. Release and he, said,
well if you saw, IT i trust.
Speaker 9 (01:20:44):
THAT i don't.
Speaker 10 (01:20:44):
Know we didn't talk about it specifically because he had
just pitched the day, before so he, didn't you, know
have any conversations with about with him about. It but
most likely he probably watched some video it probably noticed
that his arm had dropped a little. Bit this is
my eyes AND i, just you, Know i'm a little
bit of a ways, away BUT i see these, guys
AND i THINK i can usually see when when something's
(01:21:07):
a little bit. Different but he was getting underneath some
of his pitches and they were flattening. Up. YESTERDAY i
thought he got it up a little bit, higher maybe
two or three, inches and he had that great deception.
Back SO i think that was the little correction he
was able to. Make and they're going to kneed him
down the. Stretch they're going to need everybody down the.
Stretch AND i think that was a, nice little subtle
(01:21:29):
adjustment he, made and he looked great striking out the.
Speaker 1 (01:21:31):
Side, Hey, Steve steve sparks ash those broadcasters weekly visit
on A. Monday steven AND i get asked the question
a lot on quarter. Mechanics you And i've discussed the whole,
mcka the pitching and, quarterbacking the similarities and arm angles
and all those things and getting back to to, king you,
know and people will ask, me, well how does a
guy who's locked in with mechanics sometime during the, season
(01:21:52):
how does it? Change how does the arm angle change as?
Speaker 8 (01:21:55):
Well Number, one legs get a little, tired and when
legs get, tired it affects.
Speaker 1 (01:21:59):
Ress arm angle may.
Speaker 8 (01:22:00):
Drop or if you're Like, tiger If Tiger woods needed
a golf instructor to watch his swing when he's winning
four hundred straight, tournaments they then we all. Do, Right,
Steve but with, that explain to, People explain to, people you're,
going you're, going you're. Going then all of a, sudden
you wake up one day it's like the arm angle
drops when you see. That how does that happen three
(01:22:20):
quarters of the. Way is it simply just tired legs
or is it not attention to detail and losing? Focus
what happens with?
Speaker 10 (01:22:27):
That, LOOK i don't need to violin and talk about
The astros. Travel you, know it's very, good you, know
everything is, perfect, right but it's a long, schedule you,
know and you're getting in very late at. Night you,
know everybody you know watched The astros game probably or
listen to the game yesterday and they were. Done and
(01:22:50):
it was seven hours later THAT i walked in my,
door you, know after people turn off their televisions and
we're happy about The yankees WITH i, mean it's just
a lot long or portion of these. Days so The
astros and seasons go, along and you're traveling in a
very nice. FASHION i get, it but it's it's tiresome
(01:23:11):
and it's grueling on your. Body and to go out
and play. Catch like if somebody one of The astros
relievers goes to play cast out in the outfield AS
i can park, tomorrow not every single one of them
is going to throw every baseball with perfect. Intent. Right you,
know you be having a conversation with, somebody you might
(01:23:31):
be talking about something you watch on your on your
iPad on the plane the night. Before you you, know
your mind wanders from time to, time and if you
don't do things perfectly and practice bad habits creep. In
and that's the point of this is it's really hard
to stay on top of that for an entire, season
(01:23:52):
especially for a reliever who might come into the game
sixty or seventy times during the course of a. Year
every once in, while things are going to creep, in
and you just you, know sometimes and Thank goodness for
this video in what they're able to be able to
capture to see what they were doing. Right and they
can they can put something on top of another tape and, see, okay,
(01:24:12):
yeah my my hand was down lower about an inch
and a. HALF i need to get it up again
and turn my wrist. In you, know they can figure
out what they're doing well and what they're doing differently
when they're not going so. Well so make things a
little bit easier in that. Sense but those habits can
create them very.
Speaker 1 (01:24:31):
Easily And, steve you make such grand people that are.
Speaker 8 (01:24:33):
Listening if you're listening as a young baseball, person this
is such a great point be.
Speaker 1 (01:24:38):
INTENTIONAL i tell them all the, time see what you can.
Speaker 8 (01:24:41):
Have so you can still be laughing and joking with the,
fellows but when the ball hits the, hand it's there's
got to be a. Purpose and because it's, so it's much,
easier it's much easier to lose than it is to.
Retain it just is so you can get into those bad.
Habits all. Right SO i got a bregmant QUESTION i
want to ask you After dan has. His BEFORE i
get to that, QUESTION i do want to if you
(01:25:03):
had The, rangers AND i know you brought you The
astros are your, team but just remove yourself and.
Speaker 1 (01:25:08):
Just be a baseball pitcher and a baseball.
Speaker 8 (01:25:10):
Fan, astros The mariners and the uh, uh The rangers,
pitching starting. Pitching i'm just sticking to starting. Pitching, see
they're all good when they're all. Healthy on, paper what
would the majority who's got the strongest starting staff as
we sit, today not performance, wise maybe on paper the
perception of what the national people would, Say, WELL i
(01:25:34):
think THAT.
Speaker 10 (01:25:34):
I think The ash The rangers are very similar with
The baldi and De gram and The ashs top two
AND i think they're very. Similar then they're they're they're
looking for that, third, fourth and, fifth and guys are
have done. GREAT i, Mean Jason alexander in Phenomenal Blue
ball was phenomenal on the road trip In. Arraghetti. Uh
i'm sure it's going to be really. Good AND i Think,
(01:25:55):
cobber you, know you're you're crossing your fingers that that
he can get back in it. Too BUT i think
The rangers And astros are more similar to each other
than they are The, mariners BECAUSE i think The mariners
starting staff one through five is better than either of
the other. Two so that's what they hang their hat.
On that's what they've hung their hats on for two
(01:26:17):
or three years, now and that's why they took so
much criticism for not doing anything for their offense last
off season in the, winter like how can you continue
to roll out this almost historical starting staff and make
that offense a little bit? Better and they address. That of,
course it's a trade deadline With naylor And, suarez BUT
(01:26:39):
i think this is going to be, unbelievable almost exact
Scenario sean is last. YEAR i think The mariners were
just a couple of percentage points behind The astros at this.
Juncture and The astros center. STUFF i want to say
twenty eight and sixteen or twenty six and eighteen something
like that to win the. Division but they're going to
need every bit of that to win the division. Again
(01:27:01):
and it's going to be fun watching them to see
how this. Unfolds and not just because you have the
best starting. STAFF i MEAN i think The astras all
the way one through, thirteen as far as the relievers
and all, THAT i think The astros are the.
Speaker 7 (01:27:14):
Strongest sparky you Mentioned, fromer are we in skip of
start territory with?
Speaker 4 (01:27:18):
Them with his last two, OUTINGS i don't.
Speaker 10 (01:27:21):
Think they can afford. That, dan and you know you
Need fromber to get out there and do his. Thing you,
know velocity, wise there was nothing, wrong SO i don't
think there's any alert as far as like a tired.
ARM i just, think you, know he couldn't land his
curveball for a strike his last, game just never got
a Feel and kind of back to WHAT i was
saying About Brian, king maybe just watch a little bit of,
(01:27:43):
video make a simple. Correction this time of, year and
he's been one of those guys who's been able to
roll out of bed and throw that curveball for a
strike just about any time he. Wants so that last
game began to The yankees was pretty odd in that
sense that he wasn't able to throw up for strikes
only one sling myth on its curve. BALL i think
that entire. Outing so once to get that ironback, OUT
(01:28:05):
i think we'll see, him you, know rattle off a
lot of a lot more good starts to finish the.
Speaker 8 (01:28:10):
Thing, steve you Mentioned korea and how his impact changes
other people's.
Speaker 1 (01:28:16):
Approach he just has that.
Speaker 8 (01:28:18):
Leadership another guy who was a big part of this
team and his coming to town is having a good
year Of. Bregman and we hear all the time about his,
mindset and we.
Speaker 1 (01:28:28):
Hear, it what do we mean by?
Speaker 8 (01:28:30):
That what's different about his, mindset whether it's here or
anywhere else that others don't.
Speaker 10 (01:28:36):
Have, YEAH i mean that's a good way to Put
his mindset was different from. Most And i've told this
story a few times And i'll tell it. Again it
was towards the end of twenty eighteen, seasons so he
was fresh in the. League he's probably twenty four years
old something around, then and The astros were going to
(01:28:59):
have one more series that, season and it was Against,
baltimore but the games didn't matter at. All The astros
were already in the. Playoffs they already knew who they
were going to. Play they're root to Play. Cleveland and
my wife had met me on the road. Trip we
were In baltimore the night before the series started and
we went downstairs to grab a drink AND i Saw
(01:29:21):
bragman downstairs and he, goes, hey WA's WHAT i do
during this? SERIES i, go what are you talking? About he, says,
well these games don't. MATTER i Know cleveland's going to
have their scouts in the stands to scout their advanced
scouts for the for the division, series And i'm going
to get jammed the whole. Series i'm going to break.
(01:29:43):
BATS i go what he, said, yeah watch. This so
sure enough we're calling these games and he's shattering bats
and they're. JAMMING i think he goes one for, eleven
he gets an infield hit, something but it's just, firewood
and sure Enough alds first, Game klueber tried to come
(01:30:05):
inside On bregmant he takes in Deep. Bregman the second
game of the, SERIES i Think bauer comes in that
game he tries to get inside On. Bregman he takes
in Deep GREGMAN i think goes five for. Nine he
walks four. Times they're continually trying to pitch him. Inside
but he threw away a complete series just to get
(01:30:29):
a scouting report to take a pitch yim. Inside and
he wrecked them in that. Series and if they would
have had AN mvp for The American League division, series
he would have won that going. Away but that was
JUST i couldn't, believe you, know it was just another
example of the way he thought of what he needed
to do to get an advantage in that first game
(01:30:50):
in the, playoffs which games meant. More so that was
Classic bregman for.
Speaker 1 (01:30:54):
Me and you know what's crazy about, That, steven what
a frigging great story Is, also you're sacrificing batting. Average
you're just sacrificing, media media and social media.
Speaker 8 (01:31:05):
To, say what's wrong With. Bregman it's at the end
of the, year he's not ready for the. Postseason oh my,
gosh alls you got to do is pitch him inside
and he can't hit bingo bango, bongo and here we.
Speaker 1 (01:31:16):
Go so the brilliance of.
Speaker 8 (01:31:18):
That is not only a message for us to, take
but also opposing team to understand that they all. Matter
you're working gamesmanship on all of. Them frigging great, story
but that's kind of been the way he's gone about
his business his whole, career which made him, successful, Right.
Speaker 1 (01:31:32):
Steve, yeah, REALLY.
Speaker 10 (01:31:35):
I appreciated everything he brought to this. Team you, know
he was a winner and he was going to do
everything he could to help his team win A World.
Series AND i think that's what it's all. About AND
i think that culture still lives. On but it's because
the guys like. Him his culture still here because he
taught a lot of these. GUYS i, mean Asked Hunter
brown About Alex bregman and he'll. Gosh SO i hope
(01:32:00):
he gets the nice round of a pause he.
Speaker 8 (01:32:01):
Deserve, YEAH i, agree one hundred, Percent, steve great stuff,
man awesome as, always, brother for, sure for.
Speaker 7 (01:32:07):
Sure, sparky you're the best. Man see at the ballpark
later on the.
Speaker 8 (01:32:10):
Night take, care, Guys thanks for having MEANS i have
a good Serious thanks for sure. Stuff does that surprise you? Though,
no you can't, coach that's can you?
Speaker 1 (01:32:20):
Have most? Guys, NO i can't do.
Speaker 8 (01:32:22):
That it'd be like a quarterback dropping back to pass
and in a game that was, meeting let's throw the
ball eight feet over a guy's head on a certain
route like eleven times in a.
Speaker 1 (01:32:30):
Game, well your fans just, say did he got the?
Yips what is going? On the guy's? Done what are
we gonna? Do who's our?
Speaker 8 (01:32:36):
Backup and then you help pop into the playoffs and
he goes thirty to thirty four and you're, like, uh
he didn't miss that throw one.
Speaker 1 (01:32:42):
Time so, yeah that's great.
Speaker 8 (01:32:44):
Stuff but it doesn't surprise me because his FOOTBALL I
i mean his baseball IQ's through the.
Speaker 4 (01:32:50):
ROOF i, mean no.
Speaker 7 (01:32:50):
Doubt it's kind of the only other one that kind
of sticks out to me and reminds me of it
is the story Of Greg maddox Baiting Jeff bagwell of
giving up the home running the regular season and, saying all,
right we were setting them up for making them look
foolish in the postseason with different, pitches and that's what they.
Did so some guys just play the game, differently, Man
(01:33:12):
some guys are playing a different game than we all,
are and you just can't they're.
Speaker 8 (01:33:15):
Checkers they're, checkers they're ahead of, Us they're a step
ahead of, everybody which gives them an, advantage which is
a good.
Speaker 7 (01:33:21):
Thing great stuff By. Steve for, sure he's the. Best
we'll continue The astros. Discussion, also do in this hour
want to get into Some texans too as? Well you
want to jump aboard seven one three two one two
five seven ninety against seven one three two one two
five seven ninety. One Thing sparky did, say, Though, sean
THAT i do want to chop up. Here we'll do
that right. Here it is A Sean Salisbury, Show Sports
talk seven.
Speaker 2 (01:33:41):
Ninety The Shawn Salisbury show continues on seven ninety and
continues in your. Home Say, alexa Play Sports talk seven
ninety On.
Speaker 7 (01:33:51):
iHeartRadio the last two outings we've had out of from Er,
valdez that's not winning, Baseball. Sean so if you're not
able to get that out of, them is it? Fatigue
is it maybe the emotions getting the best of, them
any of those things that maybe skipping a start would
benefit him to be able to get him back on.
Speaker 1 (01:34:10):
Track all, RIGHT i understand what you're. SAYING i get.
Speaker 8 (01:34:13):
It, Well i'm On steve's side on. This you'll never
be able to convin now unless the guy's day after
day after, day and. Catch i've said, this now you
know what? Pitch what message AM i sending for a
guy in his. TWENTIES i understand he's. Tired steve makes
(01:34:33):
a point, listen like in The king, situation you, know
if you're not, focused And steve made such a great
point about, that say it all the.
Speaker 1 (01:34:40):
Time have all the fun you want when you're warming.
Up how many times.
Speaker 8 (01:34:43):
Are you going out dan and play catch with somebody
or when you go, well you, know guys are just
kind of throwing its side arm and kind of joking
around and you, know flopping fun and then all of
a sudden you're by your your Your AND i know
this sounds, cheesy BUT i can tell you of all
the years of coaching the quarterbacks and that your body
and your mind they're gonna it's gonna remember what you're
(01:35:05):
teaching it. Everything that's WHY i always say every rep
ain't a good. REP i know that you've got to
have fun to do. It but when the ball is
in your hand and leave in your, hand you have
got to even when you're playing just casual catch play
now every, well listen, once why hey, man watch me
throw this underhand. Fastball, joking but the rhythm of fifteen
twenty thirty forty five throws warming up in the, outfield
(01:35:28):
and you're not starting for three more. Days it, does
or you're not coming out of the. Bullpen you just
had your bullpen. Session you know you came in and
pitched back to back. Days you're not going to pitch
for three.
Speaker 1 (01:35:36):
More it can. Happen i've seen, that having a quarterbacks.
STUDE i told you a.
Speaker 8 (01:35:41):
STORY i was training a. KID i went out of.
Town he got it for for a. WEEK i finally
took a. VACATION i, Said i'll be. Back we'll get
back into it the. Summertime he couldn't, wait so he had.
Somebody he started going and had somebody he'd, known like a,
local good buddy of his. Coat he went on and
trained with him for one one hour. Session he was
(01:36:01):
going to be the starting quarterback for this high. School very,
athletic great. Kid but as he started to, paying we're
like a month and a half away from. Camp i'm,
like your arm needs.
Speaker 1 (01:36:10):
Rest it's. OKAY i got. Back his dad called. Me
as a matter of, fact he dad called me BEFORE
i was back from, vacation, said when you come. Back
we got to get to. WORK i, said what's the.
Problem he goes his arm AND i. Can't he can't
hit basically the broad side of ARM i, said what
are you talking? About his arm?
Speaker 8 (01:36:26):
Angle he, goes, well he worked with a guy for an.
Hour i'm, like what this was like five, six seven years.
AGO i came. Back then his arm who his army
had completely. Changed it was, like what is going on?
Here then it affected his Mental he never started another quarterback.
(01:36:46):
Game and another guy strain his backup who was two
years behind, him started and beat him out and they were.
Friends but the point and he moved him to another.
Position he played defense and was. Great he didn't get
a chance to be the starter because he couldn't get
it back because then we got to the point where
we're two weeks. Away you start changing it now you'll go.
Complete never got it. Back, Never and that was one hour.
(01:37:09):
Session it happens all the, time and get like and,
yes getting tired or arm, angle so it can. Change But,
Dan i'm With steve on. This you can't afford for
him to miss the start unless he's.
Speaker 1 (01:37:20):
Hurt you just.
Speaker 8 (01:37:22):
Can't they've done enough of that this year With javiers
and guy in mccaug guys who've been banged up and
blisters and shoulders and. Elbows this is a twenty seven
year old Ace. ACE i, know maybe legs are.
Speaker 4 (01:37:37):
Tired it.
Speaker 8 (01:37:37):
Is it's a grind of a. Season then you better
spend two extra hours in the. Tub you just better
you're getting your legs fresh on whatever it takes to
get rest in between.
Speaker 1 (01:37:46):
Starts they got time to. Bleed So i'm With. STEVE
i know your point of, man skip a.
Speaker 8 (01:37:53):
Start what if you skip a, start get hammered and
that's the, hat that's the, game you lose the?
Speaker 1 (01:37:57):
Division, Well, sean is that gonna? Happen we've seen, it so,
listen the ball ain't. Heavy.
Speaker 8 (01:38:04):
Now if it Was, verlander i'd say absolutely different. Story
by the, way did you See verlander pump ninety eight
the other?
Speaker 1 (01:38:11):
Night?
Speaker 8 (01:38:12):
Yeah damn he still Got so point is, is WHILE
i get it, now something was wrong and you're.
Speaker 1 (01:38:17):
Like, man are you?
Speaker 8 (01:38:18):
Okay and he says my elbow or my shoulder and
my four bothering? Me, yeah well then you're you got
to have some, sanity.
Speaker 1 (01:38:24):
But just a little.
Speaker 8 (01:38:25):
TIRED i hate to tell, you, Buddy i'm not real
sympathetic for twenty somethings to get tired and He i'm
not saying he's asking for, it but he just got
to grind through, it keep the ball on the, ground
and even if that means give you six innings of
eight hit, ball but you still. WIN i got to
have him. PITCH i can't let my ace on the
left side. There you don't have time for. It unless he's.
(01:38:48):
Hurt you get those legs. Fresh you have got to
keep him in the. Lineup And i'm one hundred percent
on the on board With steve. Now he's pitching unless
he's hurt, well and especially. Too you know that there's
many different versions Of. Fromer we just would love to
see Good fromber a lot more down the stretch someone
three two one two five seven ninety speaking of a
(01:39:08):
good version or a bad. Version seems like we're getting
a little bit of one of the versions right now
of An astro's, player and it looks like he's starting
to fall out of favor with the. Manager we'll talk
about it.
Speaker 7 (01:39:20):
Next it is The Sean Salisbury show here on A
Monday Sports talk seven.
Speaker 8 (01:39:24):

Speaker 8 (01:40:02):
It back in twenty, ten it was half, that half,
that and it is far outweighing and outracing your wage.
Increase if automobiles go, up and sometimes your wages, aren't
that becomes a. Problem that's double where we were in twenty.

Answer you want to be able to afford. It in
(01:40:23):

to eighty four. Months and you even see that twenty
(01:40:44):
percent of the auto loans now and they're doing the
metrics on, this twenty percent of the auto loans are
seven year. Loans you're married to seven, years good. Grace

The Sewn Salisbury show, continued.
Speaker 7 (01:45:20):
Really really solid two twenty four is HIS zr so
work cut out for the stros tonight's and that you
gotta wonder because, yesterday after a Rough, saturday we did
not See Yiner diaz in the. Lineup even with the.
Lefty you would, think all, right still get him in.
There you probably want if you're gonna Use Victor krattini
(01:45:40):
from the left side of the.
Speaker 4 (01:45:41):
Plate And JOE.
Speaker 7 (01:45:42):
A spottas, said yes, Day, NO i mean we mentioned
it earlier in a good way With Christian walker's signs
of coming.
Speaker 4 (01:45:48):
Attractions hopefully that is the.
Speaker 7 (01:45:49):
Case is this kind of a sign of Where joe's
gonna go down the stretch of, saying, hey look, man
you're gonna continue to expand the zone and swing over
that pitch that you know you're not going to hit
and you're going to strike out and cost us at
bats and cost us chances with runners in scoring.
Speaker 4 (01:46:05):
POSITION i can't use, you.
Speaker 1 (01:46:07):
Man, Yeah, dan it's is concerning the right, Word, yes very?
Speaker 4 (01:46:15):
Much?
Speaker 1 (01:46:16):
Yes is, well let me ask you, this And i'm
not telling. You i'm not asking if this is the
right or wrong. Answer i'm posing these questions because we
got some great listeners as well and callers that maybe
they have a different answer or maybe they have an
answer to it because they watch like we.
Speaker 8 (01:46:31):
Do is there any part of do you owe him
to play through it at this stage of the?
Speaker 1 (01:46:40):
Season? No is he earned that? Right? NO i THINK
i have a tendency to agree with. You.
Speaker 8 (01:46:47):
Now, now one thing you have to do is. Compartmentalize
when you do, this the risk of do you lose
is do you lose him mentally and? EMOTIONALLY i would
hope not Right your PRO i would think at this.
Stage you've had your ups and downs in your. Career
does it bury you for the rest of the season
(01:47:08):
when it may when you may need. It, secondly that's
the question you have to. ASK i, mean he's young
enough for to. Listen if we're talking about A. Bregman
do we ever think we were going to Lose bregman
after slow starts every single? Year, no as he even
from his rookie you just built into that that callous THAT.
Speaker 1 (01:47:26):
I can do, that no big. Deal Cam smith will
go through some of these.
Speaker 8 (01:47:29):
Same things you mentioned him last week in a similar
in a similar, light is it time to send him?
Down do you like you know those things we asked?
Speaker 1 (01:47:37):
You like him? Here should he stay?
Speaker 8 (01:47:39):
Up but get him with, you sit him on the
bench and platoon him right then you go to the
dais the problem with The? Ironer it's been like this
all year? Long, right and he's not a, rookie so
you do have to.
Speaker 1 (01:47:51):
Question, okay what? Happens where's? Confidence?
Speaker 8 (01:47:54):
Dan i've never been In i'm cognizant to it as a,
Coach i'm sensitive and compassionate to, it BUT i also
know THAT i can't wilt to it as a manager
or a coach in football or anywhere else is as
a player as. Well then when the, decision if it
was made on my behalf the, FEELING i. Can't i'm
in the. Field i'm not in the feel good. Business
(01:48:16):
i'm in the winning. Business and winning feels. Good, listen
the feel good. Business wh you're feeling good and playing,
well it's one. Thing but if one guy's not feeling
it and you're still trying to, WIN i can't slow
down for one guy if it's going to put me
in a.
Speaker 1 (01:48:30):
Mind now does this? Mean here's the other part of.
Speaker 8 (01:48:32):
This when you do something like, this you know, what
people automatically start to assume.
Speaker 1 (01:48:37):
Done future is?
Speaker 8 (01:48:38):
Over where's the kid from Sam Houston? State victor's the?
Future you?
Speaker 1 (01:48:42):
GO i mean immediately people start to say. Done that's
not the.
Speaker 8 (01:48:46):
Case he can just be going through this grind being a,
CATCHER dh and that. Listen in, truth most, CATCHERS i,
mean you're Not Cal rawley this year or When Buster
posey was swinging the Batter. Piazza you had to give
up a lot on defense to Get piazza at the.
Plate everybody goes through. It but right now you're in
a position that can you. AFFORD i don't know the
(01:49:09):
answer perfectly. YET i think about it every day because
we talk about it every. DAY i don't know the.
Answer do you Treat javier the way you Treat Christian?
Walker not hobby are But? Das do you treat him
the same way every day as you would? Know?
Speaker 1 (01:49:25):
Why the body of, work the length of? Work? Right
would you THINK i.
Speaker 4 (01:49:32):
Don't have anybody else THAT i trust to right him?
Speaker 8 (01:49:34):
There that's exactly, right unless you were gonna Put carotena
in there. Permanently, right that's exactly. Right that the guy
behind there's too big of a. Gap, Correct, yes With,
walker even when he's struck right, now the catcher. Position
here's part of the problem with. Ds if he was
the only guy, there you wouldn't even be asking, this you,
know you'd say fight through. It the fact is that
the guy behind him is a better hitter than he
is right, now and you AND i both know it
(01:49:55):
so and he's still and it's not as If AND
i don't mean this, disrespectful BECAUSE i Think Jiner das
can be a great player in this league with, power
and he's gonna. Improve he'll improve defensively as he goes.
Along but in, truth if you're not, hitting what do
you need to? Do dan dominate on the other, side,
right we've seen guys like, that you hit one. Nineties
Jake myers has been a perfect. Example why do you
(01:50:17):
keep running him out? THERE i can't hit well this
year he's, hitting you, know but in the past it's
been gold glove, centerfield elite. Centerfielder we'll play with eight
players at the plate and hope that one day or
two he gets. Hot did the same thing With Martine.
Maldonado now we're not. There he's not hitting one seventy.
Five don't misunderstand, Me but you do have a guy
backing him up who is a, veteran who can rank
(01:50:40):
and who can call pitches and all.
Speaker 1 (01:50:42):
That so this is another car.
Speaker 8 (01:50:45):
Compartmentalization just because if you were to do what you,
said you can't worry that you're Gonna you can't all
of a sudden, say, well, man he's no.
Speaker 1 (01:50:54):
Good for the organization down the.
Speaker 8 (01:50:56):
Road that's not true Because Dana, brown as we said
two years, ago said hits our catcher the. Future well
is he? Still it's all about performance in this, league,
Man and WHILE i love, him he's also got to
understand that if he did get sat, down it wasn't,
playings but it wasn't getting. Bats guess, what the other
guy's playing better than. You and that's just a simple
fact of the analytics. Metric just the naked eye for
(01:51:17):
anybodyho's not, watching it's pretty easy to.
Speaker 1 (01:51:19):
See but there is that ability to.
Speaker 8 (01:51:21):
Say the one thing that teases is, man he goes
on one of those home run, rampages we got a
pretty good. Player the pressure From caratini's every day play
and him falling off and chasing non competitive pitches and
looking like a rookie makes it. Hard and he doesn't
play gold glove behind the plate and not like he,
say he's Not Johnny benstone.
Speaker 1 (01:51:41):
Or Pud rodriguez with his pop. Time he's.
Speaker 8 (01:51:44):
Not it's just he's not doing anything great right? Now
does that make? Sense so doesn't mean he's not going
to be a hell of a. Player so we got
to look at it like. THAT, i If i'm making the,
decision can't be worried about losing his.
Speaker 1 (01:51:57):
Confidence and the truth of the matter is we've seen.
Speaker 8 (01:52:00):
Players it's not getting into the, doghouse it's just getting.
Speaker 1 (01:52:02):
In if it is a dog.
Speaker 8 (01:52:04):
House it's more a poodle doghouse than A Great dane, doghouse,
right a little. Smaller you got to get me back.
Going but right, now listen and back to the. Dude
it's a half. Game every at bat is, significant every
base runner is. Significant So i'm with. You it's not
the same guy we've been. Seeing he's going through some
(01:52:24):
tough times this. Year but do you sacrifice twenty five
others because you got to make sure you don't. LOSE
i don't know anything about his. PERSONALITY i wouldn't imagine
he's very. FRAGILE i hope, not AND i wouldn't think
that they would think that he is. Either BUT i
can't worry about, That. DAN i just can't a catcher
in a, quarterback you, know. Tough got to be in
(01:52:46):
there playing every, day got to take, hits balls bouncing off,
you and then you've got to go.
Speaker 1 (01:52:50):
And you got to.
Speaker 8 (01:52:51):
Leave even when you're not playing, well you've got to
make a. Difference point guard's not, scoring still has to
get the ball to people on their. Spot you've got
to be able to impact a game when you're not
doing the things you wanted to. Play and right, now
the metrics aren't going to tell you that you're gonna
get gold, glove so gold glove catching, WELL i still
think he's got an extremely bright. Future the best lineup
(01:53:15):
right now on this team, Today Victor, Karantini Victor carratini
should be playing more every.
Speaker 1 (01:53:23):
Day he just should be.
Speaker 4 (01:53:24):
No argument for.
Speaker 7 (01:53:25):
Me those offensive first, guys they've got to be able
to live up to that first part if you're going
to have them out there and right. NOW i, MEAN
i mean a couple of games in The marlins series
he was, good but outside of, that it's just kind
of been inconsistent at best all season long FOR. Youanr,
diaz and be interesting to see how they use them
the rest of the. Way someone three, two, one, two
five seven ninety see a couple of you there on

one of us been.
Speaker 8 (01:57:11):
There it'll either slip out of your hand going, back
or you try to throw it and you yank it
into the ground because it falls out or goes to the.
Side you're, like, uh it just got it, Sucks but
you become a gift in the meme forever and hey remember,

Speaker 1 (02:01:47):
Good, Morning hey.
Speaker 15 (02:01:48):
Guys this is my first time to call. WELCOME i
got a couple of comments and get something off my.
CHEST i turned Y'all loan and y'all was talking about the.
HONOR i know he's going through a, slump BUT i
want to take us back two years, ago Which i've
always believed That Dusty baker is the one that kept
(02:02:12):
us from going to The World series by Playing. Modernado
moderonado couldn't hit the water if he fell out of
a boat.
Speaker 1 (02:02:20):
And and never. Played yanner had twenty home runs.
Speaker 15 (02:02:25):
As a rookie that at about two sixty.
Speaker 1 (02:02:27):
Five and, uh and NOW i know he's going through a.
Speaker 15 (02:02:33):
Slump but DID i hear one of y'all say that
he needs to be hit to the?
Speaker 10 (02:02:38):
Miners?
Speaker 1 (02:02:39):
No, no nobody said.
Speaker 4 (02:02:41):
That none of us said.
Speaker 8 (02:02:43):
That, okay and let me ask you who was the?
Catcher just remind me real, quick who was the? Catcher
who was the starting catcher when they? Won When dusty's
team won The World?
Speaker 1 (02:02:51):
Series do you, Remember, well it was Probably, modernado but
it was.
Speaker 2 (02:02:58):
That the Year i'm talking.
Speaker 1 (02:03:00):
ABOUT i, mean he had that rookie, Anyway.
Speaker 9 (02:03:06):
SO I.
Speaker 10 (02:03:11):
Yannor's batting what.
Speaker 1 (02:03:12):
Too fifty right?
Speaker 15 (02:03:13):
Now with fifteen sixteen home runs and fifty rby.
Speaker 12 (02:03:18):
You, KNOW i mean he's going through a little.
Speaker 15 (02:03:21):
SLUMP i take, that and AND i can See, carotene you,
know starting in his place right. Now BUT i just
wanted to see if y'all had said something about made
me want to know what we.
Speaker 8 (02:03:35):
Said was did through, this AND i. DISAGREE i don't
think Cam smith And rightfield should go to the. Minors
he's proven that he could play through, it and he's
hitting over. Today he's gone through some. Slump, no hell,
no you're not Sending yon Or dias to the minor.
Speaker 1 (02:03:48):
Leagues but it would be.
Speaker 8 (02:03:49):
Okay you can't worry about his feelings If krotene's giving
you a better chance to win more often right, now
it's just something you got to struggle. Through, yeah neither
one of those guys belonging the minor. Leagues and sometimes
you just gotta find you and sometimes you find yourself
pretty good sitting there watching somebody else. Play he's not
Having it's not. Horrible it's just not the same guy
we saw on right. Now you got to play the
(02:04:11):
best guy during matchups as the guy you. Saw, no
neither one of us suggested they should go to miners at.
Speaker 15 (02:04:16):
All good AND i appreciate y'all. SHOW i will say
this And i'll Be i'll hush. Up uh you got
you got a couple of guys later in the day
that all they talk about is uh music lives themselves
instead of.
Speaker 1 (02:04:32):
SPORTS i like WHAT i like about. Y'all y'all stay
to the. Point so thank you very. Much well appreciate.
THAT i appreciate. It thank you very. Much appreciate. It call, again,
Man it's good to have.
Speaker 7 (02:04:42):
Y'all, no, absolutely AND i, mean look to this point
that he brought up About. Maldonado it was it was
no secret Why Martine maldonado was in the. Lineup he
was in the lineup for how he handled the pitching
staff and what he gave you. DEFENSIVELY i, mean the
only reason he was in the.
Speaker 1 (02:04:55):
Lineup that was.
Speaker 9 (02:04:57):
IT i, mean and.
Speaker 8 (02:04:58):
Dust he trusted that more than he he felt he
needed that more than he needed a. Bat and we
all Agreed maldonado's bat would have got him out of
the league five years before. That but his ability to do,
that that managerial feel that he had.
Speaker 1 (02:05:14):
It drove people. Crazy but you know, what it ended
up helping put a ring on a team's. Finger SO
i get.
Speaker 8 (02:05:20):
It and those are decisions the manager asked to make
and That joe's going to have to deal with here
and they das is nowhere near What maldonado.
Speaker 1 (02:05:27):
Was as a as an offensive.
Speaker 8 (02:05:29):
Player Meaning maldonado's not even in yannerd is his class
when it comes to a bat in his, hand even when.
Speaker 1 (02:05:35):
The d is a struggling no.
Speaker 7 (02:05:36):
Question, yeah, WELL i mean if he, was you could
stomach these a little bit more than you can right,
now BECAUSE i mean that's kind of the double whammy
when it comes to this situation With Jiner gary in.
Speaker 4 (02:05:47):
Spring what's going?
Speaker 9 (02:05:48):
On?
Speaker 17 (02:05:48):
Gary, hey good morning. GUYS i was going to chime
in on the catcher. Deal but, first did y'all hear
on THE tv side What blumber said When i'll Two vey.
Speaker 1 (02:05:57):
Hit his home? Run, NO i did not.
Speaker 10 (02:06:01):
Know, yeah he always comments when they ran in third
base on that on some of them he, said he,
Said I'll, bouvey you, know because everybody booz him and.
Speaker 9 (02:06:09):
Everything he, Said.
Speaker 17 (02:06:10):
I've but, ANYWAY i was going to comment on the.
CATCHERS i see it a little bit, different AND i could, see, Uh,
SEAN i could see your your. Side it makes sense.
Speaker 16 (02:06:21):
Too but WHAT i see is That yainer is the
quarterback of the pitching. Staff you got uh, uh you
got uh the new.
Speaker 17 (02:06:31):
Guy i'm drawing a blank on his name on third Base,
cabrera he's the quarterback of the of the position. Players
so uh, uh that's WHY i want him in there
all the. OFFENSE i want the other catcher in when
he's Relieving yanner on the day, off and when he's
Relieving walker at first, base AND i want him batting left.
(02:06:51):
Handed he's kind of slumping right now to both of them,
are BUT i think he's better left handed than right.
Handed so that's kind of WHAT i see and WHY
i think That yanner should be the full time. Catcher but,
anyway just roll the time.
Speaker 10 (02:07:04):
In on, that.
Speaker 7 (02:07:04):
GUYS i appreciate, It. GARY i, mean he's not wrong About.
Kartini he's kind, of you, know dropped off a little
bit here with more at bats that he's gotten here
in recent, months with all the injured guys you've been
having to navigate. THROUGH i get all of, that but
you also like what he gives you a little bit
more Than yiner does behind the plate. Defensively, yeah And.
Speaker 8 (02:07:24):
I'm not listening and tore the callers of a lot
of our colors.
Speaker 1 (02:07:29):
Points i'm one of those.
Speaker 8 (02:07:30):
Guys I'M i like guys having to fight through it
unless it's crushing My team's not killing the team right.
Now he is just doing stuff that's on and then
they'll admit. It you got to chase better. Pitches you,
know you got to. STAY i mean WHEN i say
chase some hunt better pitsches and lay off the.
Speaker 1 (02:07:44):
Bat he can't. Chase he's going through. It and, yes
the more at bats keroteen he's gotten. Me he struggled
a little.
Speaker 8 (02:07:50):
Bit but right, now IF i said go to the
plate with a runner on, second two outs in the
bottom of the, night who would you.
Speaker 1 (02:07:55):
Rather have with the plate today of those two oh car?
Team right?
Speaker 8 (02:08:03):
Right that's my. Point now does that mean a week from? Now,
See i'm a moment, guy living in the right. Now
and LIKE i, said things change all the time in.
Sports that's WHY i always and never don't work in.
Sports they just.
Speaker 1 (02:08:16):
Don't oh, Always, no they don't and never that's not.
Speaker 8 (02:08:19):
True and when you're when you're, critical once, again you
don't hate a player or want a player benched or
sent away because you're being honest about his analysis and
anybody that's watching him knows potential through the roof is
the future catcher here and the present got big, power
has a lot on his. Plate you got to Catch
you got to manage your, staff and we expect you
(02:08:41):
to hit like you're not a, catcher and So yiner
and he's, young so he's still learning how to play the.
Position so you can obviously analyze what he's, doing what he's.
Missing that doesn't take much and and still either keep
him in the lineup and not hate him and want
him benched and traded and sent in somebody else to.
Speaker 1 (02:08:58):
Play i'm a, now, guy what are you doing for? Me?
Speaker 8 (02:09:01):
Now now there's some BUT i also want a guy
to play through certain. Things it's okay if he goes
oh for, four oh for, eight it's just that now
it's more, Heightened, Dan why because every game you're half
game in. Front we it's it's more hyper. Sensitive so
and they're both going to, Play they're both gonna get.
Bats yiner's not going to the minor, leagues And Victor
carrottin he's not your everyday. Catcher those things are not going.
(02:09:23):
AWAY i think the point is is that at, times
even if you play him back to back, games Meaning
Victor carratine catcher And, jiners it's. Okay it doesn't mean
a guy can't, play but you'll know down the stretch
here who The astros trust more Under clutch and it
may Be, yiner but both of them pick their temple
up because that position is going to be, monumental regardless
(02:09:47):
of who it is that it may be.
Speaker 1 (02:09:48):
Both as we run down here these last forty plus, Games.
Speaker 7 (02:09:52):
John roger And larry And, STAFFORD i mean to talk
about a good lineup right. There you guys be worked
into the. Conversation you want to join? Them someone three
two one two five seven ninety continue The astros. Conversation,
also do want to work in Something texans, Related, sean
that you talked about a little bit earlier THAT i
want to expand.
Speaker 4 (02:10:10):
On so we'll do that right.
Speaker 7 (02:10:11):
Here it is The Shawn Salisbury show on A Monday

Speaker 7 (02:10:45):
NOW i feel even more confident WHEN i step out
of the office over there At centergenics And. Relationship you,

Speaker 4 (02:12:06):
Good i'm very.
Speaker 11 (02:12:10):
Disappointed, uh first of, all we are, here uh disappointed
about how do you when in the world? Happened how
do you blow an almost seven game.
Speaker 9 (02:12:21):
Division lead down two point?
Speaker 1 (02:12:23):
Five?
Speaker 11 (02:12:25):
Uh there must be a breakdown. Somewhere and another question for,
you what's this blockbuster deal With? Correa they're really hyping
that up pretty, good AND i want to know if
there's really a power hitter in the. Lineup let me
(02:12:46):
starting up And i'll listen to.
Speaker 1 (02:12:47):
You, well CAN i ask the? Question what what blockbuster
deal are we talking? About DID i miss? Something?
Speaker 11 (02:12:52):
Correa a blockbuster? Deal well from my leaguer for for
a minor leaguer.
Speaker 4 (02:13:03):
Is a salary By, Minnesota, yeah.
Speaker 11 (02:13:06):
Thirty nine million dollar. Cash so let me ask.
Speaker 8 (02:13:11):
You this before you, Go, john what are you just
talking about the semantics of some because of LIKE tv
you'll put on on their thing one thing you have
to understand and like when somebody's writing an article that
the person who writes, it or if you're ON, tv
the persons.
Speaker 1 (02:13:24):
Are people that are like.
Speaker 8 (02:13:26):
Us if you're ON tv and you see it ON,
tv it says blockbuster deal For. Korea that's just to
call the. Teas The blockbuster deal was that they're bringing.
Back it's not like they traded in for seventy four.
Players the blockbuster part of that Means Carlos korea is
now an astro where he started in One World. Series
so as far as what they gave, up they didn't give,
(02:13:47):
up it's not and then they saved some money because
Of minnesota paying some of the. Money but The blockbuster
deal doesn't mean that that fifty four players were.
Speaker 1 (02:13:55):
Transfered that's.
Speaker 8 (02:13:56):
One two Is i'll tell you how they lose a,
lead is the other teams playing Better at times they
haven't played, well they're still a half.
Speaker 1 (02:14:03):
Game and this is kind of what we. EXPECTED i.
DID i didn't expect them with all these injuries to
be running away with this. Division, yeah we're proud of
what they're.
Speaker 11 (02:14:12):
Doing really considering where they, are you, know and what they,
have and you, know they're they're doing. Great but, well
i'll tell you, what they just need one more. PERSON
i Wish jordan would come, back but it's going to
be it doesn't sound very.
Speaker 8 (02:14:25):
Good, Right, well let's let's hope that power that power
hitter you. Want let's hope that guy comes back to
meet sooner than, later the guy you're.
Speaker 1 (02:14:33):
Looking then we're really then the.
Speaker 11 (02:14:35):
Awesome, well then we really have an awesome.
Speaker 4 (02:14:37):
Lineup there you, go Brother sir appreciate? It, yeah you,
KNOW i.
Speaker 8 (02:14:44):
Don't there's not one guy that every time it comes
place in that ball can leave the park like yourn To.
Korea provide some of. It you're going to get some
From Christian walker when ironers swinging the, Bat you're going
to get a little bit From, yes there is Alto
bay to say he's your team leader right. Now that's
that's a exactly. Right so if you're talking about when
they line, up or you sit there and, say oh,
(02:15:04):
man they got, three four and five are all? Thirty you,
know oh Cal rawley's coming to the. Plate now he's
not on this team right. Now he happens to be
hurt and. Injured let's hope it. Changes but how you
lose leads is, well you don't score a lot of
runs and runs in scoring position and the other teams
play really good baseball, happens, Man but this is WHERE
(02:15:24):
i expected it to, be not with a seven game.
Speaker 1 (02:15:26):
Lead game, lead with all these. Injuries so it's not cutting.
Time let's, go, Man let's do this.
Speaker 7 (02:15:31):
WELL i, mean The astros in their last ten games
are five and. Five The mariners they're nine and one
on a seven game win. Streak that's another way.
Speaker 8 (02:15:38):
That'll that'll close gaps in a, hurry, Brother and they're
not exactly chopped. Liver they're pretty good for.
Speaker 7 (02:15:43):
Sure and The, ASTROS i, mean as you mentioned In
john mentioned trying to Get jordan. Back that's Where roger
wants to. Go, roger what's going?
Speaker 17 (02:15:51):
On good?
Speaker 18 (02:15:51):
Morning, oh good, morning, Gentlemen good.
Speaker 17 (02:15:54):
Morning.
Speaker 18 (02:15:55):
YEAH i just you wanted to see maybe they would think, about,
uh you want To patuon back there with the cancer,
situation maybe a mix of power and and just good,
hitting because you make no, Mistake You're ier is good.
Power he's the power, hitter he's the power. Threat you's
to say that maybe in the late, inning, uh you,
(02:16:18):
know switch him out for uh For kartini because he you,
know he just makes more. Sense you, know every now
and then you need that base, rock that base off the,
runners it's going, position and that's sometimes that's just all you,
need a good. Hit and Maybe Jeremy, TING i, mean
Uh yner can take a little advice on those he's had.
Already maybe talk To jerremany because When jeremany was his second,
(02:16:40):
year he was having all kinds of trouble with that
a low and a way slider and he just couldn't
he just couldn't back. Off it couldn't fail like A moster.
Flame so maybe they could do some in house networking
and troubleshoot it that. Way but, yeah it's it's definitely
gonna have to uh get get fixed at some point because,
yeah he's he's uses his uh he's really the same time.
(02:17:01):
Man and with The jordon, SITUATION i really wish they
would just tear the cover off and just let everybody
know that he's not coming, back because that's just what
it seems. Like and JUST i, know we like to
hope on hope, man but we. DON'T i don't really
see see us winning it without Jord. On but maybe
we CAN i don't, know kind of mask it up
(02:17:23):
a little, bit you. Know, uh but, YEAH i JUST
i just really have to be more honest with you
On that's ALL i.
Speaker 7 (02:17:29):
FELL i appreciate, It, ROGER i, Mean, SEAN i will
say this, this this is a huge week for Jord.
On i've got to have more than just taking swings
behind the l, Screen coaches throwing to him in the
cage and on the. FIELD i need to hear this
week that he's taking, live live. Reps and if he,
doesn't THEN i don't count on him the rest of the.
Speaker 8 (02:17:47):
Way, Yeah, DAN i have been saying this for a,
While alex, SAID i trust that they're doing everything they.
Speaker 1 (02:17:53):
Can you you have to because they're not. Stupid they they're.
Speaker 8 (02:17:58):
Smart dana And joe's out of the, organization they understand
how important.
Speaker 2 (02:18:04):
He is going to be.
Speaker 1 (02:18:07):
Just presence alone in the lineup. Period.
Speaker 8 (02:18:10):
NOW i told You dan at The All star break
THAT i was concerned that you won't go to see
him again this year because you can't keep how long
can you?
Speaker 1 (02:18:19):
Say he's?
Speaker 8 (02:18:20):
Close So i'm not saying That's dana's, fault because that's,
sure that's the word he's. Getting LIKE i said he
doesn't want to play doctor on our radio.
Speaker 1 (02:18:26):
Show but how? Long, okay so if this ONE i mean,
close they thought he might be back.
Speaker 8 (02:18:32):
HERE i don't know if is is there any update
this morning That i've missed or last night that has
him doing?
Speaker 1 (02:18:37):
Anything but what you just, said not.
Speaker 7 (02:18:39):
MUCH i, Mean dana said pretty much the exact same thing. Yesterday, yesterday, okay.
Speaker 8 (02:18:43):
Exactly so if that's the, case how long do you
say we're, close we're, close we're, close before you just say.
Speaker 1 (02:18:50):
We're not, close shutting him. Down he's going to have.
Speaker 8 (02:18:51):
Surgery i'm not saying THAT i wish, that but there
does come a point in time when that if it's
if you're not improving that and when they said we'll
take him at seventy five, Percent, no, no, no because
if you take him at seventy here's the WAY i
look at, it seventy five, percent Yord on would be
(02:19:14):
playing right now if he's.
Speaker 1 (02:19:15):
Close correct.
Speaker 8 (02:19:17):
That i'm just, daid, Right i'm trying to read through
the lines of just playing, like, okay nitpicking at this
where you're, like you, know like looking at every word that.
Said it's Not dana's. Fault dana's trying to give you
what he, knows and the doctors and all of.
Speaker 1 (02:19:31):
It but If i'm just.
Speaker 8 (02:19:32):
Looking at it from my point of, view if somebody
did to A demion on this, show just looking, okay.
Speaker 1 (02:19:37):
He's, close he's.
Speaker 8 (02:19:38):
Close and then At dana at one, POINT i think
he had told the weekend when he did his weekend
interview with that group at one point That i'll take
a seventy five.
Speaker 1 (02:19:47):
Percent yord on over most players on did he do
we not hear?
Speaker 4 (02:19:51):
That it was almost worth?
Speaker 8 (02:19:52):
Word, yeah that's exactly, okay so close if you're if you're,
close you're more than seventy five percent in my, mind,
Right and then it comes down to threshold of. Pain
if he's not getting surgery and it's, healed then it's.
Threshold and so then it's on ur done because we've
also heard, well when he's when he tells us he's
(02:20:13):
good to, go we're. Going so then that means he
hasn't said he's good to. Go and if he has
said he's good to, go that means he's not fully
healed because he's not. Playing and if you're trying to
get him in, RHYTHM i guess you'd put him into
minor leagues against live pitching and let's.
Speaker 1 (02:20:25):
See So i'm just.
Speaker 8 (02:20:26):
Trying i'm just trying To Maybe i'm too investigative on
this when it comes just my own personal. Thoughts real,
Quick dan is if he's if you'll take a seventy
five percent youord on and he's, close shouldn't he be?
Speaker 1 (02:20:39):
Playing, yeah under those.
Speaker 8 (02:20:41):
Trips so either he's not, close or he's not seventy five,
percent or the other option to his threshold of pain
is he's just not he's just not feeling it after
a workout and it's taking. Longer i'm just trying to
piece it. Together when he comes, back it's a. Bonus
maybe their teases all a, sudden he shows up and
we're good to. Go But i'm telling, you if this
(02:21:03):
continues and we hear he's close for another week to ten,
days that tells me he's not.
Speaker 1 (02:21:07):
Close that that's my, opinion well only my. Opinion SO
i just if.
Speaker 8 (02:21:13):
You're seventy five, percent you, PUT i don't want to
play yourd on at seventy five percent because that tells
me he's not healthy AND i don't need another. Setback
so if he's seventy five percent and that's what you'd.
Want and you, say, man well he's good to.
Speaker 1 (02:21:25):
Go there's no.
Speaker 8 (02:21:25):
Threshold then why is it he playing? CLOSE i don't
know what's? Close is close a month from? Now as
close next? Week we've been close for about forty five
days and we're not, close so or we are? CLOSE
i don't know the, answer BUT i know, this you
have got to start to be concerned that you're not
seeing him in this month.
Speaker 1 (02:21:44):
Either if this keeps, Up i'm gonna.
Speaker 4 (02:21:47):
Have to start using That, hey did you get this done?
Speaker 7 (02:21:50):
Close i'm gonna have to start using that sean because
clearly there's quite a bit of runway there to work.
With because we got close for about two. Months it's
like a few and a.
Speaker 1 (02:21:59):
Couple.
Speaker 10 (02:21:59):
Damn.
Speaker 8 (02:22:00):
Yeah WHEN i say a, couple that means. Two, right
WHEN i say a, few that means three or more
on a wiggle room for? Sure there you go on
this is close BEING i don't know what's? Close is
close you're part close to a car where they can't
get out of the driver's, side or is? Close, Man
i'm close to, him But i'm two lanes, away so
he still got room to open His ferrari, door so.
Speaker 1 (02:22:21):
He doesn't ding. It, Okay SO i don't, know BUT
i know This i'm approaching As i'm not counting on.
Him i'm just.
Speaker 8 (02:22:29):
Not and if he's, there it's the greatest bonus The
asss have had in quite some.
Speaker 1 (02:22:33):
Time that's HOW i look at.
Speaker 7 (02:22:35):
It, yeah, WELL i think there's a lot of people
who look at the exact same, way BECAUSE i, mean
AS i, said two. Things Number, one you got to
get him live pitching this, week if indeed you are
going to have him for any significant amount of. Time
and the other is he has another bout of inflammation
or anything like, That i'm, Done i'm.
Speaker 4 (02:22:53):
Out that's.
Speaker 7 (02:22:53):
It like you shut him down for the, season that's,
it and then over the offseason figure it out and
make sure that this at least doesn't continue to happen for,
you because clearly something medically is happening to keep him
from the. Field AND i, mean we've had this in the,
past and we've had it now at least a couple
of different times this, year so hopefully they can avoid.
That larry And, stafford we know he'll bring the, fly
(02:23:15):
we know that he's gonna bring the, Fire so we'll
talk with.
Speaker 4 (02:23:18):

that IF i ever start sounding LIKE i don't know
what the Hell i'm talking, about like some of these
callers that call, in to take my phone away and
delete all sports talk radio numbers out of my phone
(02:26:31):
and don't let me have that phone ever. Again if
we're gonna sit here and talk about Why dusty Played
maldonado Over yanner during that, time did y'all really want
That rickie trying to catch That greenki And, kakuchi or
or even how psychologically Crazy Frand ravaldez. Is you needed
(02:26:52):
somebody Like maldonado behind the plate to make sure of
them pictures didn't lose their damn. Minds and he was
a steady, influence and he was the caster on Our
World series team That dusty. WON i don't know what
everybody is crazy By yanna's gonna be. Fine he's a young.
Player and here's the thing about. Baseball baseball is the
hardest thing in the world to. Do if you get up,
(02:27:15):
there somebody's throwing the ball at you at ninety nine
miles an, hour and all you have is a stick
in your hand and your hand eye coordination isn't there?
Good your ass is gonna miss that. Pitch the only
people THAT i can actually say THAT i would bet
that they would not do that Is Barry Lamar buns
And tony gwyn because those dudes were elite. Hitters so
(02:27:38):
don't get all caught up in all this other. Stuff,
Man yanna's gonna be. Fine young players like him And
Cam smith are exactly what they're going, through and that's
the process of becoming a Good Major league baseball. Player,
now having said, That i'm sorry For Christian harrier, tonight
And i'm excited about him being, There But Christian, harrier
(02:27:59):
you are not the biggest and most important piece that's
gonna be over there On crawford. Tonight that, Boy carlos
Her carrera is back, Though and when you get the
vic fella back into the, stadium my boy a, too
Vate zack and that ball over the wall In New.
York now y'all. Finish see what it's life where you
can come home. Again, SEE i always tell, people when
(02:28:21):
you let something go and it comes back to, you
it's meant for. You that means you can hold on
to it for a. Lifetime Carlos herrera should have never
left The Houston assos in the first damn. Place he
is the. Captain he is Like Derek zetter over. There
and to have him back over there and that In
Many Main. Park, YEAH i know it's dancing or whatever the,
hell but It's many made to. Me to have him
(02:28:44):
back over there is a philixir for my. Soul. Man
now let's move on to, football. SHIR i saw that
boy Ariaanteo airseri this weekend up In, minnesota o something,
ground looking like a man amongst.
Speaker 10 (02:28:59):
Boys.
Speaker 12 (02:28:59):
Shauh he was.
Speaker 9 (02:29:01):
Taking the dogging boys up. There and, see that's WHAT
i like to. See that's the kind of young player
you get in there and you develop him and let
him get the feel of what The National Football league game.
Is to see that he's playing against grown men and
see how he's doing. It he played a hell of
a game This saturday In, minnesota AND i like the
potential that this young man has to be out starting
(02:29:23):
and left tackle with his size in his, feet he
didn't look, overwhelmed and he looked like he knew what
the hell he was. Doing and he made my Boy Davis,
mills WHO i apologized to when he was under colored
Because davids was. Garbage but Now i'm starting to like Old.
Davis you got to be able to have an offensive
line to give these dudes trying to. Protect and that's
WHAT i.
Speaker 1 (02:29:43):
Like ersery was.
Speaker 9 (02:29:43):
Doing and my Boy Woodie mark's picking up them. BLITZ
i like what them boys got going over, there Because
i'm gonna tell you Some Cole popovich is showing these
boys this is how you play offensive. Line last tame
BEFORE i let y'all go. SHUT i need, YOU i
need your help on. This i'm gonna give You bill
to Check Andy, Reid Demico rids And Nick, soriani and
Then i'm gonna give You Tom brady And Pat mahomes
(02:30:06):
And Mark jackson And Josh. Allen you don't have nobody
on your. Roster you don't have no, managers no, coaches
no no. NOTHING i need you to draft them for.
Me put them in that top, four top eight order
and let me know how you. Going because your son
believes that you would take a coach before you take a.
Quarterback AND i had to put my son outside and
(02:30:26):
make him sleep in the teeth a tent because he
did not know what the hell he was talking, about
you cannot win in The National Football league without a
quarterback in our.
Speaker 4 (02:30:34):
Hall you go.
Speaker 1 (02:30:37):
When we come back from one to, Eight, YEAH i
can do. THAT i can tell you, this as much
AS i Love, belichick IF i was his, quarterback he
ain't got all Those Super bowl. RINGS i can promise
you that he maybe he gets one if we're, fortunate
but he ain't getting that.
Speaker 8 (02:30:51):
MANY i can tell you. This brady went To tampa
to answer part of your, Question, larry AND i will
give you one date if you'd. Like he went To
tampa and immediately got him A Super bowl and had
him in another. One SO i think we know that.
Answer we'll continue to discuss. IT i got news for
you About. Ursery he go play and we teach our
(02:31:12):
guys AT usc to block people on. Offense now we
just got to tackle on. Defense so there you. Go
