Speaker 1 (00:02):
Saulsby.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Okay, let's do this.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Sewn Salisbury to usc Troup, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 4 (00:14):
Dan Matthewscus. This is the Sean Salisbury Show.

Speaker 5 (00:23):
So Sanchez a seeing I RBI signal, give the Astros
a want nothing lead runner.

Speaker 6 (00:29):
A third with two ounce and another one two home.
He's lifted in the left. Sanchez is too, he's left
and he's right there to make the catch and from
Burvaldez seven shutout innings. This evening for the Astros works
from the extreme first base side of the road as
it deals. And this is Clapbard deep to left field and.

Speaker 7 (00:49):
That is into the Crawford boxes and gone. Cam Smith
goes deep for the eighth time this season, and the
Assros double their advantage to nothing here in the seventh inning.

Speaker 5 (01:04):
One one, and that is smoked deep to center Doyle
racing back onto the warning track, he leaps at the.

Speaker 7 (01:10):
Wall and it is gone.

Speaker 5 (01:17):
A two run blast for your and on Alvarez, his
fourth half out of the year, Astro's latest ford to
nothing one two to Bernabelle Tway. You got a mesk
out him on a high fastball, and that is the
ball game. We Houston Astros into two game skin even
this series at a game apiece as they defeat the

(01:37):
Colorado Rockies ford to nothing.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
A little bit better. We enjoy results like that a
little bit more thanks to Robert Ford Garrett Green on
the call of last night's Astro's Rockies game. And with
that we say away, we're going. Good morning here. Sean
Salisbury show on Sports Talk has seven ninety KBM E
Houston and iHeartRadio station as the Stros able to Sean,

(02:02):
I mean, let's let's go ahead and give kudos first
before you know, we do the other parts. But the
kudos are fromber Valdez. Where you been, brother, I mean
we've been, We've been looking for you. We've been almost
putting out an APB for you. Maybe even they still
do milk cartons, any of those things. I think it's
a phone notification, Yeah, looking for fromber Valdez to be

(02:23):
a front of the rotation guy. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (02:26):
I think you found well, you found him against a
team that you should find him against. But it was
a great, really good performance seven strong and you know,
then the bullpen time and did their job. That's not
supposed to look, especially when you're playing Colorado one. But
also when you're fromber that look like now catapult into
the next hand full of starts when the competition competition
ramps up. Obviously another one with Colorado today, But I uh,

(02:49):
it was impressive, even though they still squandered some opportunities,
you know, the double play ball with the basis packed
in the fifth and then ninety nine that Walker swung
through in the sixth. I mean, had opportunities also where
it could have you know, even made it worse. But
I'll take four. I'll take one as long as nobody
else scores. And Fromber did did his gig last night?
Really pitched well And anytime you get a shout out

(03:12):
in Natty, no matter who it's against, is a good thing.
But that looked like a baseball team, you know, a
couple of home runs. I'll take that one, no question
about it.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
Seven innings, five strikeouts, scatters three hits and only walks
two and of course with the four to nothing final,
doesn't give up a single run in this one. No,
it was great to see that out of him. I mean,
and you know where you really need it at this moment,
because Hunter Brown, I mean, I think if nothing else,
the way that things have been going lately, you would

(03:42):
have probably thought, Okay, Hunter Brown had this performance Fromber
had the one that Hunter Brown had. But I mean,
don't we know what this twenty twenty five season sean
nothing makes sense? Absolutely not.

Speaker 8 (03:56):
I think it made sense was yesterday winning four it
to nothing when looking like a first place team. So
but you're exactly right, there is not a lot of
sense to it. And but hell yeah, like I don't
care if it's ugly or not. I'll take ugly wins
at this point. But last night was solid.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
Man.

Speaker 8 (04:15):
You know, defense didn't have to do a lot. Pitching
staff did their thing. And when your start gets you
the seventh inning, I mean, I know it's a little
nerve wracking when it's won to nothing, but a couple
home runs late, Now that's what we're talking about. Come out,
get a lead, even though it wasn't a big one,
but then turn around and make sure you close it
out with a couple of home runs. It one solo
or one two run job doesn't change the difference in

(04:37):
a game any job. So it was an impressive performance
the way it's supposed to be with him.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Quite a bit of ground balls from Frombers, so obviously
we know what he brings, and it Brian King getting
the scoreless eighth, a couple of strikeouts out of him,
and then going with Brian to brave you there in
the ninth. Then I don't think most people would have
noticed unless TV and radio had mentioned it at a
time you're in the game. But Joe spatta out with

(05:03):
an illness as I think he showed up to the
park from what I heard, and then it kind of
got progressively worse, and then he finally said, hey, Omar Lopez,
you mind taking over tonight because I've got to go
home and hit the sheets. I'm I'm not feeling great.

Speaker 8 (05:18):
Happens happens, and they did their job. That's you know
what you know, you prepare for that if a guy
gets ejected, you know, I mean, you hate to see
Joe miss games. Hopefully he's okay and back at it today.
So but yeah, good job and Omar, when your pitcher's
going that good and you and you keep them out
and ski what three hits from from fromber like you said,

(05:39):
and then you take care of it late for a month.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Pretty easy to do your job. When I guy's pitching out, well,
you don't have to do a whole lot. Well, I
think that's good on him. I think that's when Josh
Miller said, Hey, what's this chair and ottoman doing in here?
And why are you sitting in it? I mean, that's
pretty much what it was for him last night. It
was kind of point and click here of hey, just
a couple of guys get hit, and then you know, Fromber,
just be Fromber. There's not really much I need to
do on my end. I mean, maybe every once in

(06:02):
a while sin Josh Miller over there to make sure
someone's up in the bullpen. But aside from that, it's
pretty simple tonight.

Speaker 8 (06:08):
The business as usual. Unfortunately, well for us, it wasn't
business as usual. The up and down as I was solid.
You win a lot of games that way, it doesn't
matter who it's against. When you get a picture that
you know that looks like the acer staff, that's the
way it's he's supposed to look. And man, they're they're
facing up they I'll tell you what, they're starting to
pump it up there now. They we said they got

(06:30):
a few pieces that are some pretty good players. But
you know, unlike the day before where they looked like
they were disinterested. They looked into it last night, and
you can it's easy to get once Fromberg gets rolling
to get a little bored because he's pitching well, but
you never want to get bored because he's such a
groundball guy, you know. So defense was on point, they

(06:50):
hit Pitcher was on point and hit the ball of
the park and clutched, you know, in moments to extend
the lead. And I got out early. And then when
when you're pitching like that, one or two runs is
you're feeling pretty good about it. That looked like an
ace of his staff, and at least for a day,
it quiets down. Oh my gosh, how'd you lose to Colorado?

Speaker 2 (07:09):
M Now, it's definitely and last night with the runners
in the scoring position, you're one for four, so you
didn't have as many chances. But still, I mean, you
talk about the pena double play that you grounded into
in the fifth and you're just like, oh, man, come on,
I mean it was it was a lot of frustration
leading up to that point. And then cam Smith finally said, yeah,

(07:30):
you know, I know I've been on a homer drought,
but it's time to end that. And then Jordan Alvarez
where earlier and I put out the tweet as soon
as he hit the deep fly ball, Sewan I said,
ah man, he just he just doesn't have that strength
back yet. I mean, that's that's one of those that
if ord On had been going for about twenty thirty
games at this point, that's maybe up off the bricks,
the community leaders signs out there, maybe you know, up

(07:54):
off the bullpen fence something like that. But it was
just a deep flyout. And then I mean, he proved
me wrong when he hits the home run late in
the game in the eighth inning, and you're like, oh, okay,
well maybe maybe there's hints of it in there right now, Yeah,
no doubt.

Speaker 8 (08:08):
And let's see his was in the eighth and Cams
was in the seventh, right yeah, bottom seventh, bottom the eighth,
back to back innings. You know that that was a
game that you're watching. And when he got to the
seventh inning and Fromber got out, you know, through the seventh,
and you're like, okay, one run, you start to think
this is going to be one of those wasted moments.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
And remember at one.

Speaker 8 (08:30):
Point, was it was it in the sixth or seventh inning?
When Fromber had a guy on third and.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
Got out of it. Believe it was the seventh, that's
exactly right.

Speaker 8 (08:39):
So I think it was either it was he got
the last pitch, got him out and stranded a runner
on third base. At that point, you're thinking, this can't
be one of those bloops. Oh you know what it was,
and he hit the guy hit the line drive to
left field. That was Carris. That's right, Kyle Carris, who's
hit three hundred this year. Yeah, I mean, hell, let's
you want to talk about aging yourself. I mean I

(09:00):
used to go to Dodger Stadium on it felt like
on a daily basis when I was going to college
and you know, watching the Dodgers, and then when Eric
Carross went there, it was just like a regular thing.
And now his sons hit three hundred on a major
league level. His kid's a good player.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
So it kind of looks like him to have kind
of the same hair.

Speaker 8 (09:18):
No doubt, no doubt, little wave to it, a little longer.
Oh yeah, looks like his pops. And but he smoked
that rope the left field and I'm thinking, if that
all with it? Yeah, if that ball's twenty feet to
the left that's a gapper, and that kids that'd stand
on second, possibly third announce one to one, and you're thinking,
after all this performance, giving up three hits with it,
which would have been the fourth, and then by not

(09:40):
giving him run support, you've allowed a team to get
that one hit that goes to one, ball leaves the ballparking.
Next thing you know, you're like, oh gosh, now they
went and scored again later. But at that point you're thinking, well,
this has been a really good performance, but please don't
let you know, some guy swing through one and in
contact ball where he gets one of those cheap bloops

(10:00):
it hits, and then all of a sudden, the next
guy Homers and Walker had that's exactly right. Oops, there
you go, so right. You'll take them when they're for you.
But I'm thinking, don't let one run or two runs
blow a good performance, because last night was not only necessary,
it had to be intentional. They needed to win last night.
Can you imagine going into Game three thing and he

(10:21):
already lost the series to this team. It's LESSI that.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
Hasn't won forty games, so only a half game up
on Maritith Seattle at that point.

Speaker 8 (10:28):
Exactly right, So it was it was. I like the
way they closed it out last night. It was definitely
nice to see.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
So Yeah, as we've been talking about strows win last
night for nothing over the Rockies and from were great.
Jordan Alvarez home run. Great to see that. Now chance
today to be able to close out the series with
the stopper Jason Alexander on the mound for the Astros.
And usually when you thought you wouldn't say that last spring, No,
last spring. Hell yeah, when he made his debut there

(10:59):
in Sacramento. I mean that's one of those you know, Hey,
who are you? Oh, I'm you from the future, And
let me tell you about Jason Alexander. You think he's
pitching well to night, wait until we get to August.
He's gonna be one of the most counted on guys.

Speaker 8 (11:11):
You got he is, We're in trouble then there is
no doubt it. Uh sorry, I'm just I'm smirking, Triple.
He said something in my ear. We'll we'll keep it
all private.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
Damn you, Triple. What remind me what your question was
a war time? Oh? Just about Jason Alexander being one
of the most counted on guys.

Speaker 8 (11:32):
Yeah, because we said we don't even know who isn't
And now look at him. You called him a stopper,
and in truth, over the last four or five starts,
he has been your most consistent starter. Now Frombert obviously
got back into it. I thought that, you know, Hunter
Brown pitched pretty damn good, you know, even with like
we said yesterday, even him though, you know, giving up
six hits and two earned runs. But in giving up

(11:53):
six runs, that's just not like him. Even though there's
an aerology you just when you look at it, you
want it to be dominant, right right, and and if
you didn't see the game, but when you watch, he
was pretty damn good. So the two front guys took
care of their business, even though the ashros didn't help
Hunter Brown.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
But you'll take it now.

Speaker 8 (12:07):
You go win a series, because we said win the
series each series and you got a chance to go
do your thing, but you got to sweep teams like Colorado,
and unfortunately for this series that won't be the case,
No won't.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
But you'd like to be able to win this one
and then move on and take on an Angels team
that's been scuffling. And boy, I mean it was bad
for them last night in Arlington. I think they lost
twenty to four. I think was the final where I
want to say that it was multiple position players that
pitched twenty to three, even worse, but still multiple position

(12:38):
players that pitched for the Angels in that one. And well,
the Ashros have lived that life. I don't think they
want to live that life anymore. I think I think
they're good living that life for the rest of twenty twenty.

Speaker 8 (12:46):
Fials to me, like it's hard to give up twenty
runs at a baseball game in Major League Baseball feels
really hard for me to do.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
That, probably, I mean, and especially though too, I mean,
as bad as the Rangers have been this year offensively,
and boy, I mean they get bad news with Vivaldi,
it it almost kind of does it almost kind of
feel like and I haven't seen anything you know that's
concrete out there. But you think Bochie walks away at
the at the end of the season, especially to Kevin

(13:14):
Polar what you said about that clubhouse and and everything
like that, Like you think Bochi's just like, hey, look man,
I don't need this.

Speaker 8 (13:21):
I think he probably here. Here's what I do know.
But and knowing Boach, but I don't know what his
decision would be. I know this, as long as he
feels like he's making a difference and they're competitive and
he's healthy. You know, sometimes he burnout kicks and these
guys they're like, this is too much. I think Dusty

(13:42):
would have wanted to continue coaching managing.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
Don't you imagine that he'll turn.

Speaker 8 (13:47):
No, but no, I'm not talking about in text sometimes
about had the different Dusty would have kept managing, and
other three years if it would if they would have
worked it out. Sure, I don't think and you think
about him, you think this he didn't need it anymore.
I mean, he'd proven everything. He's a hollow. Go drink
his wine, right, dude, exactly? Well, so Boach, I think
on this second opportunity, you come back because you number

(14:07):
one miss it. Number two, you're healthy and you're feeling good,
and you think, you know, I can make a difference,
and immediately did.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
They went to the World Series. You say, it's hard
to argue with the met This is this is what
year two three?

Speaker 8 (14:18):
That's right, this is year three because last year they
struggled their ass off, and year three I think this
is one of those I've going from year two to
year three. It was no brainer obvious, you know, come
back trying to you know better what you did last year,
especially when you're coming off the.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
Year before World's Tears went.

Speaker 8 (14:33):
I I would guess that he's gonna what he'll do
judge at this stage, Guys like that career like him
and Tito Francona, guys like is to just re evaluate.
You don't just reevaluate your players. Are you having fun?
Do you think that you still there's the locker room,
still paying attend to the clubhouse, still paying attention? Is
our buying? And if there is, and you're having fun

(14:54):
and they why not keep you young? Have fun baseball?
Because I doubt Boach is gonna walk away this time
and then want to do it. You know that it's
another comeback if unless he walks away and somebody else
hires him and he does it right away and he
says okay because Texas fired him, if he leaves it
with which to me would be silly. But I think
he's one of the best, if not the best manager
in baseball still, but you got to get by it

(15:15):
and you got to be all in. And I don't
think he'd do it if he wasn't all in So
I think it's one of those year three. Let's reevaluate,
Let's reevaluate how you think about me, Let's reevaluate how
I feel about the organization, the direction we're headed. And
if we think that we're head in the right direction,
why not you guys? I mean, you get to stay young,
you be around baseball.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
Who doesn't like that?

Speaker 8 (15:35):
But it's a grind, and at his stage of the game,
maybe the grind's not for him. But I think he'll
reevaluate and find out if it's still the same as
it felt when he came back the year they won
the World Series, And if it is, I don't see
why he wouldn't come back.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
Yeah, we're very used to the grind of a Major
League baseball season, and trust me, we've been through the
grinder in twenty twenty five. Continue the Astros conversation. You
want to hop aboard seven one three, two and two
five seven ninety against them one three, two one two
at five seven ninety A must for the Strows. We'll
discuss right here. To get going on a Thursday edition

(16:09):
of The Sean Salisbury Show, but also getting going here
on a Thursday. Some of us have already eaten breakfast,
some of us not quite yet. You're on your first
cup of coffee. That's cool, But then lunch is gonna
come around. And when lunch comes around, twenty two oh
one Leland Street, Jbarn Barbecue, it's calling your name. You
don't need a dinner bell, just head over.

Speaker 8 (16:28):
And you also don't need reservations. But what you do
need is the ability to go inside and outside. See
that great? You know, we grab yourself a nice cold beer,
cold drink indoor outdoor. The food's off the charts. I listen.
We get all the pomp and circumstances awesome at restaurants, right,
but sometimes the pomp and circumstances you go to and
all that is trying to cover up the fact they

(16:48):
and got good food. Sure at Jbarn Barbecue, they when
you walk in the door, the smell, but the food's delicious.
You can't go to goodbye and people will sift through
barbecue that's not good, right, is like, oh come on man,
but when you walk in there, you say, when am
I coming back? And the menus off the charts? I
mean from brisket to the jalapeno cheddar sausage to the

(17:10):
potato salads, send them and roll on the way out
the door. But I just love the way it's set up, Dan,
I do. I love it just feels comfortable to me.
One of those places you can make it so you're regular, right,
and so if you're going in, you'll love the facility
and you don't have to have a reason to go
there other than great food. But also go by and
pick it up if you can't stick around and take
that great barbecue to the house, which I'm sure a
lot of us, including meal do this year college football

(17:32):
NFL season. But I think jbar and barbecue from my
evaluation going to other places, and I like to compare,
I don't really think there's a close second in my mind,
and it's not just we're part of the family. But
once you taste the food, I think you'll agree with
us and agree with me that it is as good
as you'll have in this state.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
And you mentioned the test too, because you can't fool
Houstonians and Texans on good barbecue. Thank you. It's either
you got it or you don't. And jbarm in between, right, No,
there is there isn't and some okay, make this good barbecue,
but how's the chicken or how's the when it's all good,
And then all of a sudden you say, well, man,
I could live off the greens in the damn potato
salad if I wanted. That's I love sides, right, So

(18:10):
everything about it, man, And then the location and the
and while you say, well, it's got a great parking lot.
That's important down in that area, and I got it,
and it's just a phenomenal facility. But the customer service
and foods through the roof at jbar and Barbecue. Go
check out the menu at jbarn Barbecue dot com. Again,
you don't need reservations. Absolutely, twenty two oh one Leland Street,
jbar M Barbecue. The football team in third ward getting

(18:32):
going the night. I know a lot of you wearing
red and white gonna be over there at J bar
M Barbecue. Let's go. This is the Sean Salisbury Show.
As last night mentioned about fromber Valdez going seven innings
and being able to pick up the win. I mean
we'd mentioned it the last five starts he had not

(18:54):
been in that good whatsoever, And almost to the point
where I mean, I told, I told you the last
time he started Sean, Yeah, I said, he's no longer
on Mike can be counted on list like I can't
count on this guy.

Speaker 8 (19:06):
Well no, and rightfully so, because it's it didn't happen once.
It happened like four or five starts. I mean, a
guy should be a cy young candidate every year. Now
are you treading lightly into game three? While I was,
I was enthused by what happened last night, you know,
a couple of the long getting uh, Jordon back in
the mix. And even though at that point in time,
at three, oh, you think the games you hope the

(19:26):
games decided for him? Or was it two to nothing?
Smith was a solo job in the seven? Smith's was
a yeah, it was a right on the hook, right,
But Jordon hit the two run job right, yeah, so right,
it wasn't Cam with the two run Ord on solo.
So at that point you're, okay, take care of it.
But did the positives that Look, I say, okay, they

(19:47):
did this. There's you can always find something negative, you
can always find something good to find too, And so
while they did that, there's still part of me that today, Dan,
I'm like Okay, I've been I've been teased with with
the long and that performance.

Speaker 2 (20:01):
Can we go?

Speaker 6 (20:02):
Now?

Speaker 8 (20:02):
I trust Jason Alexander's is going to get through this tonight.
I mean, I mean I put two bits on the
fact that he gets to six innings. That's just the
way he's pitched right through five, hopefully through six. Save
the bullpen again and Birdie the par five. Hell, this
should be an eagle to I, especially that they got
you in game one.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
You should go.

Speaker 8 (20:21):
This should be a reachable two and hit it to
three feet type of thing. And that's what it should.
But while I'm excited about what I saw last night,
I also temperate and tread lightly because I've seen the
up and down movie all year about Okay, who is
this team? By now we're supposed to know, And in truth,
you know they're talented, and you know they're resilient, and
you know they'll battle, and you know they can overcome injuries.

(20:42):
But when I say who is this team? Who is
this team? Is it just to get in the playoffs team?
Is it scramble to get in and man, thumbs up, boy,
what you've overcome this year? Or is it in spite
of all that we get in and look out because
in a long series, our front two guys and our
third guy are going pretty well. You on his back
and we're going to get hot. You see my point?
So who are they? And in truth of all the

(21:05):
first place teams in baseball, I'm not sure yet. I'm
not sure we know with twenty what are we at
twenty nine games to go? Correct, twenty nine games to
go that we're not really sure who they are. We
know the identity of the players, but you're not sure
who they are in a seven game series nut cut
in time this year. I know the inconsistenty have been there,

(21:27):
but if they could be kind of consistent in the
seven game series with a four to three in a
longer series, okay, so you just look at it in
a shorter series. Are they the ones that are gonna
come out? So depending on how they finish the season.
But I still I'm not fully sure what their team
identity is?

Speaker 2 (21:43):
Are you? I would say that it is a team
that has good pitching that is overperformed and good hitting
its underperformed that's woefully underperformed. There you go, which tells you, Okay,
so what's the identity is it? The overperforming pitching staff.
Yet the starters they've you hope these last two or

(22:03):
three starts, you see that probably the track record of
the guys you have in the lineup. It's more about
the lineup than it is about guys like Steven Okert
and Jason Alexander pitching wall for you.

Speaker 8 (22:13):
So basically, we're saying, if you were going to say,
give me the identity of this team, not including injuries,
which is you know, everybody goes through more, this team
more than most this year in baseball, this team's identity, truly,
and you hit it is the identity is capable at
the plate, but underachieving, and their identity has been inconsistency.

(22:33):
Is that fair? It's very fair? Okay, what's been more blatant?
Pitching staff really good all year. I mean, I'm just
saying at times, you tell me if I said, here's
the only get these two choices. Identity has been pitching
staff's been outstanding all year long. But I'm talking about
bullpen and starting included or the hitting has been later

(22:54):
that you don't.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
Even have to finish it. See, that's how easy the
answer is that.

Speaker 8 (22:57):
And when it's that easy, and I would say the same,
you wouldn't be able to finish the sentence either. That's
who they are, which tells you that why being comfortable
to twenty nine games to go as a fan, I
wouldn't be and as a player, quite frankly, I hope
they play on edge.

Speaker 2 (23:14):
I do.

Speaker 8 (23:15):
I hope they play like their four games out of
the division win and if they don't win the division,
they're not making the wild card. If there's that sense
of urgency with their hair on fire, then we may
see more consistency from them, and I hope they do
play like that. Hey man, we're four games out with
twenty nine to go, and if we don't make it,
if we don't win the division, we're not getting in
the playoffs. That mentality, if that's the mentality, then then

(23:39):
we'll get.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
To see the truth who the true team is.

Speaker 8 (23:41):
And if it stays like it is you say it's
the inconsistent hitting, then it really won't matter Dan, because
they won't make it through the postseason. Does that make sense?
Absolutely so. I think that's where we are right now
with the Astros.

Speaker 2 (23:52):
Well, somebody had called and had a suggestion for Joe
Aspata last night and maybe before he left, then he
penciled up lineup card. He might have listened to you.
We'll discuss it. Is a Sean Salisbury show here on
a Thursday Sports Talk seven ninety Hey Sean here.

Speaker 8 (24:08):
And I asked the DNM Leasing executive the other day,
who is your ideal customer? Is it someone who writes
checks for ultra luxury cars and is having second thoughts
about that depreciation. Is it someone who trades away three years,
constantly accumulating negative equity while making higher payments every time.
Or is it a budget conscious customer looking to say
forty to fifty percent in monthly payments with reasonable terms.

(24:30):
His answer was, it's all of them and more white
glove concierge experience at less costs. Luxury suv sports cars,
pickup trucks, family sedans. We do it all at DNM Leasing.

Speaker 2 (24:40):
With fifty thousand active customers, we have the program for you,
and our experts currently are on standby all of them.
Leasing is not renting, it's the smarter option for most.
If you've listened to us for all these years, you
have not reached out, It's time you call now Dial
seven one three two nine zero one thousand that's two
nine zero one thousand or Dmodeleasing dot com. The Sean

(25:06):
Salisbury Show continued. The plot of it is that Hank
and Peggy went across to Saudi Arabia to work for
his propane company over there, and then they came back
and it's all of the changes of you know, ride
share and oh really you know, veganism and like just
like a lot of the stuff that Hank probably was

(25:29):
sheltered from over there, and then he comes back and
it's just kind of assimilating back into the way life
is now, no doubt is uh. Think about how long
some of these shows like to have withsted the test
of time, and they just keep coming up with new humor.
Let's say it's my Judge. I mean, if there's anybody,
if there's anybody that probably can give you a sociology

(25:49):
lesson of like how things are. Like, there's people who
now say, with the way that life is currently in society,
that the movie Idiocracy is quickly becoming a documentary. Right, Yeah,
there you go, Mike, Judge, I saw it a long
time ago. If we're getting dumber and this is not
going on a path that really leads you to believe
that it's going to get any better, and.

Speaker 8 (26:09):
They capitalize on it every I mean weekly, right the
yearly impressive.

Speaker 2 (26:15):
His jokes punchline hits every day, there's no doubt. I
mean probably even every minute, every second.

Speaker 8 (26:20):
So I always felt about two and a half men
with that group of writers and stuff. I felt the
same way. It's like they just don't miss very often.
Now now pre Ashton, Oh yeah, I'm talking about Chuck Sheen.

Speaker 2 (26:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (26:31):
The second it it jumped over that line, I was out. Yeah,
I was completely at because you had two people in
the same house that were too much alike, you know,
I mean one rich. But point is Ashton Kutcher was
a little He wasn't he was too worried about what
other people thought. Chuck was, well, what Shane, what you
loved about Charlie Sheen's character on the show is it

(26:53):
was him and like dingo, I was gonna say, you
just took it right from me, like you you were, like,
he's not playing a character, He's playing himself right when
it comes to work, he just knows he needs to
know the theme of what burden And then we're gonna
say and just react like you would.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
Charlie in your life.

Speaker 8 (27:10):
Oh so that's all I gotta do to get to Yeah,
and four years, make it a pile of money and
make it as laugh. Oh, there's no doubt you wanted
to the discrepancy You want to talk about runs discrepancy
in the plus minds going from Charlie Sheen to Ashton
Kutcher at that on that show, it was that's that
that's Penthouse.

Speaker 2 (27:29):
Uh too, we're just.

Speaker 8 (27:31):
Trying to buy time, whoever are we gonna do here
type of thing. It wasn't even close.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
It was.

Speaker 8 (27:36):
It actually became semi unwatchable. I mean, I was still
watched to see like we all, but after a while
it's like, I'm no longer interested Shane and that to
and I've been that group that.

Speaker 2 (27:47):
Was on that was that was set your your weekly
watch by it. Then well it was like The Office
after Michael Scott, after Steve Carell left, Like it's like
he is the show, right, Like you can't sustain this
with Jim and Pam and White, right.

Speaker 8 (28:01):
Yeah, you're not doing the good, the bad, the ugly
with with some cowboy that nobody you're doing with Clint
East right, just like you're doing Sheen with that I'm
not comparing them, but in there and that, in that space,
there's no doubt about it. Steve Krell goes, guess what
the offices? You might as well find another sitcom. I mean,
it's like when the lone Ranger rides away. I mean,

(28:22):
you know nothing against Tonto, but you can't sustain the
show with Tonto. And then you go try to find
another loan ranger, and unfortunately that loan ranger rate the
same loan.

Speaker 2 (28:29):
Ranger, and Batman, you know, fully becomes Bruce Wayne and
starts running. Wayne enterprises what Robin's going to continue to
save the day.

Speaker 8 (28:37):
It's the selfrid, same bat time, same bat channel. Okay,
but what Alfre? Yeah, hey, Alfred was a goat? Who
Batman of Robin? The original, the original Batman Adam West
who pulls more?

Speaker 2 (28:51):
Oh Batman, you think you don't know Robin sneaky? Robin
might come in here like no, the only way, the
only way he polls is by being Batman's literal wingman,
so you basically he'd get the runoff from Batman. Is
the only reason. Yeah, Robin got laid. Yes, that is it. Yes,
it's another show. Example, He's he's the Entourage on Entourage,

(29:14):
So he's Drama Turtle. He could sustain himself. He did
well for him. So but Drama and Turtle had to
have Vince much more than Vince needed them.

Speaker 8 (29:22):
So you're basically saying to me that the only way
Robin delivered pound cake was when it was dropped, right,
I mean, I mean you couldn't not deliver pound cake
because of Batman.

Speaker 2 (29:35):
Maybe it's not outwardly said, but at least it's inferred
or at least silently thought. Well, the only reason I'm
really with you is because I couldn't get him. That's
the way it is.

Speaker 8 (29:46):
Oh yeah, yeah, but but you still want to hang
around him, You want to still be in the circu
But are you sure Alfred didn't pull Alfred sneaky pull sneaky. Yeah,
Alfred kind of laid the cote over is, you know,
form and pop on out and let Batman says you
take the night off.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
Well, I mean, he's what's alpha Alfred might be pulling.
He's as the saying goes, And I know Ross will
use this every once in a while, real g, real
g's move like Lasagna. That's Alfred. Oh I don't know.
I mean I mean remember at the end of one
of the Batman's he's in you know, a spoiler alert
if you know twenty years ago you didn't see it.
There's no spoiler if you had now screw you right.

(30:25):
It's Alfred just, you know, chilling somewhere in England drinking
are over in Europe drinking an espresso and he looks
over and sees Bruce Wayne and it's just kind of like,
you know, yeah, hey, I know we know each other,
but you know, you do your thing. I'm gonna do mine.
That's Alfred.

Speaker 8 (30:41):
Oh, there's no doubt, you know, you know that golfer
that steps up and you're like, he's about it. You
don't look at me and say, oh, he's probably not
real long. And then at the end of the week,
what's the what are the broadcasters calling him?

Speaker 2 (30:54):
Oh, he's sneaky. He's sneaky.

Speaker 8 (30:57):
He's averaging three h four from the tea box this
week and his normal average has been two ninety three.
Solid ball striker with his Yeah, he's a solid ball striker.
Hits it close. He's been stuffing his irons. But I'll
tell you what don't take He can reach this par
five and two. He's sneaky long. That's Alfred. H dude,
were you like, what's Alfred doing? Not quite sure.

Speaker 2 (31:16):
It's just like a guy I played golf with is uh.
We called him Canadian Rob, but he lived over in England.
He was an attorney, but he was from Canada and
wasn't very long off the tee. But then you know,
as we're tallying up the scorecards at the end of
the round, shot eighty three, you.

Speaker 8 (31:30):
Guys all buying for him, right, Yeah, that's the way
you crushed us by. He crushed us by. At least
he's always hitting first, yeah, and always collecting the money
at the end because he makes putts and doesn't three
put that guy right, yeah, oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (31:42):
Irons off the tee, all that kind of stuff.

Speaker 8 (31:44):
Yeah, you're longerre thirty yards longer than you're always okay, dude,
you're hitting and then you hit to the green side
bunker and he hits it to fifteen feet two puts
and he's already one up and you haven't even got
out of them.

Speaker 2 (31:52):
He might he might be on the front fringe, but
then he's going to be able to get it close,
tap in for bar and keep it moving.

Speaker 8 (31:58):
So you're you're convinced that the only way Robin delivered
pound cake was because Batman's runoff.

Speaker 2 (32:04):
I'm convinced and I know that that's the case. Robin
can't show up somewhere and be like, you know, hey,
you know I'm let me tell you what I what
I really am, but be like, hey, ain't no play.

Speaker 8 (32:20):
But if you waltz in and you're Robbin and like
your bar play is hey when they say what's your
I'm Robin, but my friends call me the boy Wonder. Dude,
if you're a zoid, aren't you thinking? Now, boy wonder?
What are they talking about? That's just a boy wonder?
But he's he's bringing it. He's a boy wonder. What's
the wonder part is it?

Speaker 2 (32:40):
Is it? The nickname me? Oh, don't get misled.

Speaker 8 (32:42):
I'm sneaky long no pun intended, but you can get
my point right.

Speaker 2 (32:47):
But I'm way that you use it. I think what
all is said and it goes well.

Speaker 8 (32:52):
I think what all is said and done at the
end of the day, while Batman's the obvious pull, I
would think, but I think when it's said and done
that the one who settled for Robin may say, you
know what, and then you start comparing stories, you know,
because they're friends too. They picked the couple and next thing,
you know, Robin's girl Batman's girl is like, oh the

(33:16):
boy wonder huh And and bab was like, whoa, whoa,
whoa Robin.

Speaker 2 (33:20):
Let's how I forget who runs this show. I think
I think Robin might be a sneaky poll, just just
a hunch. Well, I mean, but that's the thing though,
is that Batman had a twofold. I mean he had
it both in his personal life as Bruce Wayne where
he's got swagged that way, yeah, and then of course
as Batman.

Speaker 8 (33:36):
Yeah, it's like Clark Kent Superman. Right, so it's kind
of a double poll.

Speaker 2 (33:40):
Have you watched Peacemaker on HBO Max? No with John Cena. No,
it's funny. He gets into an argument with his dad's
neighbor and his dad's neighbors, Oh, you know, you're no
honorable superhero, You're no Batman, and he goes off on Batman.
It's so good, look it up, it will so good.
Where he's like, he's like, Batman is a you know
what he's like because you know why Batman doesn't kill

(34:02):
any boy, I have to come in and kill them.
There you go, There you go.

Speaker 8 (34:06):
So Batman, Okay, I just was curious who you thought
might have pulled more Batman? What's Batman called the caped Crusader?

Speaker 2 (34:13):
Caped Crusader?

Speaker 8 (34:14):
Yeah, and boy wonder now the Cape Crusader you label
that nickname? You're right, that's that's all Batman all the time. Hey,
what's your nickname? I'm the MF and Caped Crusader.

Speaker 2 (34:23):
I mean, you know, do you think the bams and
pals on the punches from Adam West?

Speaker 8 (34:27):
You like to call that AUTOMATOPEA yeah where I come from?
People like, what the hell are you talking about?

Speaker 2 (34:32):
Sean? Google it? Okay, imagine that orchestra for that show?

Speaker 8 (34:36):
Oh yeah, Google what is it when they say boom bamam,
that's called automatopia.

Speaker 2 (34:44):
Yeah, that's exactly what it's called. So what a show?
Just I mean, no doubt, but the tights really set
me back though. That's another thing that's not working for Robin.
His costume. Yeah, come on, how can you take that? Seriously?

Speaker 8 (34:56):
Can't looks like Ronald McDonald, You can't take he's a
boy wonder boy won at ease. Okay, yeah, yeah, Batman
pulls more? Okay, Ashley, what.

Speaker 2 (35:07):
Does your boyfriend do? No, he's a clown.

Speaker 8 (35:09):
Yeah, he's a boy wonder Well, what's his best friend do?

Speaker 2 (35:12):
He is the Cape Crusader. And then your mom and
then her mom says, well, why aren't you going after him?
Exact Clay and I know how these go. Make sure
he keeps the cape on? Yeah, ok yeah, go yeah,
freaky they you know, look, I've said it numerous times,
freak flags flying, let them fly.

Speaker 8 (35:30):
And Batman's freak flags were flying. Oh yeah, I try
to say that fast three times. You can get yourself
in trouble.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
Yeah you can't. Don't leave the Yeah, take you gotta
you gotta, you gotta tread lightly. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (35:42):
Sure, Well we've just discovered that. Every day we like
to put it in Batman pulls more. Oh yeah, pretty simple.

Speaker 2 (35:48):
Yeah, No, it's it's it's it's a definitive fact. All right,

on iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (37:56):
He must for the strows. I know that it's all
always a joke. On the Matt Thomas Show of today
is a must win. But I mean, you can't come
out of this series with a series loss to a
team that has thirty eight wins. We did the cap,
we did the the whole thing yesterday about the Astros.
When did they get their thirty eighth win? And I

(38:16):
think we said what June twelfth? And then rock somewhere
near the middle of GM and the Rockies just got there.
So it's been over two months since you got to
where the Rockies are right now. That just shows you
how the season's going. Yep. But then you've got a
division team coming in in the Angels, and then you've
got the Yankees coming in next week to close out
this homestand it the Yankees a three gamer Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

(38:39):
It's a Tuesday through Thursday, I believe. Or no, no, no, no,
it's it's Monday.

Speaker 8 (38:43):
It's the beginning of the week at the it's not.
Let's see, it's the beginning of the week. Okay, beginning
of next week. So you got who's who's the weekend?

Speaker 7 (38:52):
Is that?

Speaker 2 (38:52):
You said? Angels?

Speaker 8 (38:53):
Angels? Okay, so you got the Angels right. So starting
a lead Labor day, the Yankees aren't time?

Speaker 2 (38:58):
Is that correct? That's correct? Okay, that's right.

Speaker 8 (39:01):
You know what's crazy, animals, but lay always even for
the labor days a Monday. Labor days like Friday, Saturday,
Sunday all bunched into one, so they come here for
a three gamer right, yeah, okay.

Speaker 2 (39:10):
Friday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday. You imagine how the office
is going to look tomorrow at this time?

Speaker 8 (39:17):
Can I imagine you're talking about the same it looks
at five of the morning?

Speaker 2 (39:23):
Brother, lie, there is going to be tumbleweed going through here.
Truth when a holidays on a Monday. But our god,
Doug Pik's going to be out there, brother, you know,
I will.

Speaker 8 (39:34):
You know it's the truth about labor Day. And I'm
sure you're far and wide for all businesses or people
that go to work. Is when you say, oh, I
got a three day weekend. Don't lie when when Monday
is a holiday, it's a four day weekend, people of Okay, fine,
three and a half.

Speaker 2 (39:52):
Like you get in at nine, Hey, guys, take a
long lunch today. What's a long lunch? Well, don't come
back after lunch.

Speaker 8 (39:59):
What time do you get you know, nine thirty what
time is it now? Well, it's ten forty five when
you leave it at eleven and you put it in
your time.

Speaker 2 (40:06):
It's a four day weekend for most, it really is.
And just follow some of them on social media too,
because you'll see, you know, getting a workout at like
noon on a Friday, country club at it. Oh yeah,
oh yeah, oh tea time? Huh oh what what? What
holl are you on already?

Speaker 9 (40:19):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (40:19):
You're on number seven.

Speaker 8 (40:20):
But I'm selling, that's that's great. Yeah, I'm talking business.
I'm going to buy a company. You know, some CEOs
out there, buy a company. Yeah, Friday for all people.
I mean, hobnobbin is needed. Sometimes you got a hob
nob yeah yeah, but you're good at it.

Speaker 1 (40:32):
Do it.

Speaker 8 (40:33):
Damn well known. Most businesses across America. If you got
a Monday holiday, people have pretty much check out. That's
why if you're trying to do brothers, pounce on the
ones who check out on a Friday and go boom,
do it because there's an opening boom to jump in there.

Speaker 2 (40:48):
Because three o'clock by day, dude, three o'clock today. And
I'm not talking about our office, about every office. I'm
talking about every around the country. See what that production is.
It's probably March Madness level production at that point.

Speaker 8 (41:02):
So you're actually going to give them satisfaction around the country.
Say they're going to wait.

Speaker 2 (41:05):
Till three, you're asked, dude, after lunch.

Speaker 8 (41:08):
By the time you're eating jbar and barbecue at noon,
they will have they will be they will already be
two beers deeply.

Speaker 2 (41:15):
Yeah. Yeah, well we'll see some of them over there.
But uh, I misspoke to about the it's a four
gamer actually with the Angels where it's going to go
Friday to Monday. There you go.

Speaker 8 (41:24):
You don't get those very Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, for they're
going one after right after the other.

Speaker 2 (41:29):
That's right up there, being rare with the the two
games series that sometimes you have. But U so you'll
have these four four gamers. I didn't know if it
was the Yankees, and I knew one was coming up
and the day Thursday, So there you go. There you go.
So got that to look forward to. But yeah, the
astro's going to be out it this afternoon noon. Astros
on deck coming your way, all right, you know, getting

I just like great football. But I talked to, you know,
on my other show. I talked to Mattie Mow last night.
I saw that yah and he was frigging on fire. Yes, dude,
I'm telling you, people were going crazy.

Speaker 11 (44:46):
He was.

Speaker 8 (44:47):
And I asked them one question about fix the he
uh n I L and h in transfer portal. I
wouldn't do a thing, And I'm like, would you just
say to me? And dude, he went on and he
and you know, he's always well prepared and he's opinioner.
So I got him, I got you, I got Gordon,
he had three LSU guys and kind of a kind
of Georgia guy because you were there.

Speaker 2 (45:08):
That's fair.

Speaker 8 (45:09):
And so I wonder where all the awards are going
to go when we make our preseason picks. Okay, just
to just a teaser, is your national championship team in
one of the two big conferences?

Speaker 2 (45:19):
Mulling it?

Speaker 8 (45:20):
Okay, so you're still you're still you're you're playing that
final four in your head.

Speaker 2 (45:24):
Who you're gonna pick? Fair enough?

Speaker 8 (45:25):
Okay, So I'm only kidding because we're kind of we're
not really just an SEC country. Although if you're saying
Texas at A and M, I get that. But you
know what, a lot of people in this town are
Oklahoma fans, a lot of LSU fans SEC Houston. I
saw some new facility pictures yesterday. It was freaking awesome.
We will in the next week or so, we will
get we'll have the the A D at Houston on

(45:46):
and so well that'll be fun to talk about. Man,
just where they're going with the facilities in the program.
And we're quite frankly, how heavy an nil. I want
to know that from the and so we'll have that
happen here. But yeah, man, it's gonna be a fun
hour because dude, think about it, you're forty eight hours
away from us teeing it up and we're playing college football.

Speaker 2 (46:05):
Man, forty eight hours isn't that what it is? Well
less than twenty four hours away from it.

Speaker 8 (46:09):
I'm talking about the Saturday, well, Saturday's game course, so
we're literally forty eight right, yeah, because right right about
now is when you've had your bloody rerry, your breakfast.

Speaker 2 (46:17):
For twelve hours away from it. Yeah, twelve hours, because
I mean you of h plays us. See, I know I'm.

Speaker 8 (46:23):
Talking about I'm talking about Saturday's games. Yes, no, of course,
foot we already know it started weeks here. But I
met that where you're waking up on Saturday morning openings
right tomorrow and important last week and important opening and
it was important last week Iowa State and Kansas State.
That was a I know when people say we're going
over there for some exhibition in Dublin, that's a late day.
That's a late game win, close it out, and that's

(46:43):
a conference.

Speaker 2 (46:44):
Game that that touchdown that was wiped off the board
late for Iowa state was significant to some Oh.

Speaker 8 (46:50):
Asked Al Michaels, and Brett Musburger would let you know too,
that's overwhelming. Yeah, exactly so, but important. Yeah, I'm just
saying we are literally forty eight hours from the leak
corso right in there, and I'm I'm here for all
of it. Can't wait, man, So this nine o'clock I
will be fun.

Speaker 2 (47:06):
I got something on that too, that that that we'll
get to a little bit later on the show. But
Shrows win last night for nothing over the Rockies, and
they're gonna go for a series win today. Texans sign
and players, they're practice squad tackle Trent Brown one of
those guys. And you mentioned it College Football Week one.
It's gonna start tonight, you of h hosting Steven F.
Austin over in third ward. Coverage is gonna start at

(47:28):
six over on our sister station, KPRC nine fifty. But
with the Astros conversation, you know, mentioning about the muss
for this team of a must. You got to win
this series today. Another must is no worse than a
split against the Angels. I would even say, Sean that
usually asking for three out of four in a series

(47:50):
is tough enough. I need three out of four in
that series.

Speaker 8 (47:53):
Out of the astros, Oh yeah, dude, you got well,
you got one that just gave up twenty right mm hm,
and you have one that's given up eight million.

Speaker 2 (48:02):
And then I mean now that there's gonna be some
lingering injury for Mike Trout, that they're gonna be like, oh,
he shut him down, We're gonna shut him down. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (48:13):
As much as I love By, I would have loved
to see, like Griffy Jr. I would love to see
just how good their careers would have been if they
were healthy their whole career.

Speaker 2 (48:22):
It's gonna be the all time what could have been
Mike Trouts.

Speaker 8 (48:25):
And yet we're saying that if he retired today, is
he a Hall of Famer? Look at all the MVP Awards.
You can't win what three or four of them?

Speaker 2 (48:31):
Sure?

Speaker 8 (48:32):
And then finished second and third like eight more whatever.
It's been that that he is a really interesting dynamic,
isn't it? Because he in my opinion, I mean, he
is as good as we've seen, I mean, post Bonds overall,
when he's healthy, Mike Trout's been as good as player
as we've had. I know, tany this late. I mean
since he's been in it's different. He's he's he's a

(48:54):
freak unicorn, whatever it is you want to label.

Speaker 2 (48:57):
He's just the most unique.

Speaker 8 (48:58):
I think he's the most unique athlete let on baseball
player of all time. And that's not saying Bo is
not a better athlete. I'm just going unique. That'd be
like Bo being able to play quarterback and starting middle linebacker,
not baseball and football. I'd be like Dion being the
starting corner and being the best of all time, and
then going on the other side and playing wide receiver,
which he did, but also being one of the best

(49:19):
of all time. I mean, or at least the best
in your era. Does that make sense. It'd be like, well,
it'll be equivalent if Travis Hunter goes in and is
the best receiver, he's better than Jefferson and Chase for
ten years and is also the best corner in the
league that he's Dion or Rod Woodson for ten years.
That's what you'd have to be to be OTAWNI. But

(49:40):
Mike trout his numbers playing like an average and what's
what's he probably average.

Speaker 2 (49:44):
Over score one hundred and twenty five games a year.

Speaker 8 (49:46):
If you take all the years and throw him into
one hundred and sixty the game and divide him by
hoever many years he's played well one hundred and twenty
five games. Yet if he plays on hundred twenty five games,
he puts up MVP numbers, always has. So I'm just
you know, are we ever going to see Trout play
on somewhere? He's played in two playoff games, dude, two two.
So I I love him, I do. I think he's

(50:07):
a phenomenal player, but he is going to be Oh okay,
all these m vps. But what if he would have
played all those games? What would they what would it
look like? Are we talking about him like we do
Willie Mace? Honestly that we're not exactly, but we would be.
You'd be saying, well, in your era, you'd never seen
a better you know, he was that guy. So it's

(50:29):
just as a bummer. But yeah, you angels come to town, dude,
and they're probably at some point you hope it's not
serious for Mike with me if they shut him down,
But angels come to town. You do got to win
three or four, you just absolutely do. These are again,
you're getting fortunate you got back to back part five,
so you can go, you can lap the field with
with a with an eagle on both and.

Speaker 2 (50:49):
The Yankees have been playing better baseball. But the Yankees
are not a good team.

Speaker 8 (50:53):
Yeah, and they're and and they're gonna be hanging right there.
The Yankees, to me just it's the continued under and
when I say under achievement, maybe that's not fair, but
as an overall hole, they still just don't live up
to the sum is the parts are far better, sure,
don't you a great because they've got some parts now,
But for whatever reason, we're always in this situation. The
last however many years have been where and I know

(51:15):
they were in the World Series last year, don't misunderstand.

Speaker 2 (51:17):
That we're saying this, and it's like they're but I'm
you couldn't even handle losing in the World Series.

Speaker 8 (51:23):
Yet here they were in the World Series and the
best team in the American League with by getting to
the World Series. Yet we're still sitting here question are
they Are they really that good? And I think that
we're still hell, we still have that question about them,
which is which is odd for a team that just
finished going to the World Series two times.

Speaker 2 (51:40):
This morning. We've talked about dudes with huge melons, Bruce
Bochi and Michael Michael Kay. You see Michael Kay walk
into a room, you go, geez, heard about how large
the large this guy's cabeza is. But now I see
it in person.

Speaker 8 (51:54):
You know, some guys will walk in and their bodies
about three minutes behind them.

Speaker 2 (51:57):
There.

Speaker 8 (51:58):
It's like you said about Jack Forehead. And I'm telling
you Oj, we were sitting in the keg in Seattle,
me and Reggie Mackenzie, the all time Buffalo. He was
his blocker at the Electric Company in Buffalo, and OJ
was meeting us because he flew in to see Reggie,
and because I'm a trojan, said let's meet and you

(52:18):
and Sean go over and have some food and drink.

Speaker 2 (52:20):
So we did. I was in my rookie year in
the league and i'd met him before. So this was before.

Speaker 8 (52:24):
Okay, this is oh yeah, No, there wasn't post, because
I kept an eye on his golf bag. No, it
wasn't post. It was pre and he was the king.
He was OJ Simpson, right. He was the most popular
former athlete in the world.

Speaker 2 (52:37):
He just was.

Speaker 8 (52:38):
And so you weren't going to miss that Reggie said, Hey,
Juice wants to gosh, I'm in So he go in
there and we're sitting the keg Reggie, I got there
before oj did he come walking into it?

Speaker 2 (52:46):
And I'm telling you right now, his head came in.

Speaker 8 (52:48):
The rest of his body rushing for two thousand and
three yards back in the seventies, came in about two
minutes behind him. Matter of fact, his head had a
beer before the rest of his body sat down. That's
how big that He's got a foresighted poster head. Well,
God rest his soul, but it was enormous, dude. Well
that's a nine and a third helmet.

Speaker 2 (53:06):
Speaking to speaking of his golf clubs, Joe Rogan's producer,
Jamie he bought him in his The States sale. Oh
did he really were club? We were.

Speaker 8 (53:15):
Kato Kalin came to my golf tournament. This was post now, dude, the.

Speaker 2 (53:19):
Right What did you know? Kato man level with us?
What do you know?

Speaker 8 (53:24):
We I got buddies like Shannon from the Saint Louis
of the Saint Louis Shannon's and the buddies I went
to school at my tournament.

Speaker 2 (53:33):
We were relentless on him, you.

Speaker 8 (53:36):
Know, And he was such a great sense of humor.
Hed fit right, I mean national lampoo afterwards. Here, my
buddies don't get getting I mean he walked in first thing.
One of my buddies say, hey, man, uh you still
got the knife?

Speaker 2 (53:46):
Did he kill him?

Speaker 8 (53:47):
I mean, did he kill him? They swear, I don't
mean that disrespectful of it. You know, at some point
these late nights past were making fun OJ and stuff,
but you did, and he'd kind of laugh and say, man,
where's the golf bag? And he'd play for for a
full weekend. Dude, he was nothing but great. But my
buddies were redless. Oh good, great. I mean to the
point of, if you're looking at me, it's like, dude,
I'm sorry, these are my buddies, Thanks for coming to

(54:09):
the golf tournam Man just smiling and having a blast
and was nothing but great. But uh yeah, Oj, hell
you had to have a second You probably have a
second place for to bury his head.

Speaker 2 (54:19):
It was so damn bit. And that's the thing with him.
That guy shows up anywhere. I mean, you just got
such a unique look. He shows up somewhere and you're
just like, oh yeah, hey, I gotta know man, Yeah,
that's that's how that conversation always get started. I gotta know.

Speaker 8 (54:31):
Yeah, we hey Kato, good to see if welcome to
the golf turnt. By the way, the next question that
comes out him with did he oh yeah, come on, yeah,
but he was there's.

Speaker 2 (54:39):
Always a shot in the chaser to that conversation there
for sure, there's no doubt.

Speaker 8 (54:42):
And he was a good sport as good as sport
as you can be. Considering a couple of years earlier.
He was like in the strangest part in time of
his life.

Speaker 2 (54:50):
Look, man, we all have a lot in life, okay,
and and some of us are more fortunate than others.

Speaker 8 (54:54):
Yeah, well just you know, you got a grin and
Barrett's that case. Yeah, that lot of life ain't ain't
one of them.

Speaker 2 (55:00):
Okay.

Speaker 8 (55:00):
But back when oj was Oja, we all thought he
was then. Yeah, it didn't take away from the fact
that he still had I don't know how they fit
a helmet for him.

Speaker 2 (55:10):
That was a big ass head. Now big head, but
he knew that.

Speaker 8 (55:14):
Like you say, you know, it was like the guy
I mean, bobble, he just kind of bigger than his
body r. But boy, he had that forward lean that's
why he was such a good runner to forward lead
and I could still contend Barry Sanders in the conversation.
Has there ever been a better college and NFL running
back combined?

Speaker 2 (55:30):
Probably not just on the field, Yeah, I mean it's.

Speaker 8 (55:33):
He was the best running back in college, one of
the best in history, and at that point in.

Speaker 2 (55:37):
Time he was. You're being honest, you still have him
in the conversation with like Jim Brown.

Speaker 8 (55:41):
And when you say both college and NFL, there's not
Barry Sanders in the conversation, but there's very few production
wise that have done more than he did. Now that's
notwithstanding all we're just talking football related. There's no doubt
you can't not recognize that, and but you can compartmentalize.

Speaker 2 (56:01):
You're gonna have to with him. We just made Adam
Clanton proud with the OJ talk right there. So if
maybe somebody wants to wake them up and tell them,
Roger will get you involved in the conversation. And indifference
is the reason for this decision being made. But were
they told that's the discussion right here. It is the
Shawn Salisbury Show on a Thursday Sports Talk seven.

Astros win last night for nothing over the Rockies. They're
gonna try to go for the series win later on
this afternoon noon Astros on deck coming your way. Texans
GM Nick Assario non committal on Joe Mixon's chances to

(58:40):
play this season, already said to miss the first four
weeks of the year in college football, gonna get started tonight,
like we said, soft openings tonight and tomorrow, the hard opening,
the grand opening of the twenty twenty five season coming
up on Saturday. But you have h gonna host Stephen F. Austin.
Coverage starts at six over on KPRC nine fifty. Hey Dan,

(59:00):
real quick about that? Uh yeah, what what? What were
we just talking about?

Speaker 8 (59:07):
Oh about Joe Mixon? Noncommittal on the season. I've got
something on that. Yeah, I'm maybe that's just aaron on
the side of Ben. It'll be a great break and
a bonus for us when he gets back. I'm just
telling you that do not unders understate even four to
six weeks that injury. And I'm I'm hoping that the

(59:30):
Nick Chubb that that I believe who he is is
the guy you're gonna.

Speaker 2 (59:34):
Sayarn me a d and my fancy draft last night.
According to one of the companies.

Speaker 8 (59:38):
Well they well guess what will that D can turn
into an A or a B real quick because they
will run the football. I hope Nick Chubb is Cleveland
Brown's healthy Nick Chubb because he's really frigging good and
by the way, work to do it. Yes, that that
he sure will and he's rehabbed his butt off. That
Renegade Fantasy Uh you know commercial I just did. Did

(59:59):
the draft? Is said timber Second at eight o'clock eastern.
Just make sure they know. September second, eight o'clock eastern
gets your team the Salisbury League. It's Renegade Shawn Salisbury
dot Renegade Fantasy dot com. It is the only league
that you can actually substitute in real time so you
don't lose points. So Salisbury League and I'm team unpaid,
So pop on in there, Sean Salisbury dot Renegade Fantasy

(01:00:19):
dot Com. Just want to let him know because there's
some great opportunities and there's five grand on the line.

Speaker 2 (01:00:24):
So that's pretty cool though. Speaking of college football, so Ralphie,
the live mascot that the Colorado Buffaloes have, Yep, you
see that Ralphie is retiring due to indifference to run.
So he's in the jogging phase.

Speaker 8 (01:00:39):
Now, are they bringing another Ralphie or is it are
they just going to do away with the Ralphie completely.

Speaker 2 (01:00:44):
Yeah, that's that's what I'm trying to figure out. But
five year old Imber is being retired for indifference to running,
typical of many mammals, both four legged and two legged.
The school said in a statement it was determined that
it was in best interest based on her disposition and
to focus on relaxing strolls on the pasture, which is

(01:01:06):
her favorite hobby.

Speaker 8 (01:01:07):
Well don't you think that that's I'm okay with that,
aren't you. No, I'm fine because they'll get another Ralfie.
That's their mascot. But you know what five years that
get put them out like, put put it out there
and let it do its things.

Speaker 2 (01:01:19):
Like like what did they like try to do a
test run once and they're like, all right, here we go,
you know, because I mean that's that's one of those
where you know, the the handlers will get the ropes
already and then they swing open the gate on the
on the truck to have it run out and then
makes its little turn and well what if he runs
into the next truck and they pull it away.

Speaker 8 (01:01:36):
If you're if you're bull riders only, and you're you're
you know, you're trying to ride out and they keep
opening up and to shooting, and that bull comes kind
of come out walking. It ain't a bucket, then guess what,
Maybe it's time to go just stud it up or
whatever it is you do. And the same thing with
Ralphie the buffalo. So there'll be another one, I'm sure,
but I'm all for it. You get to a point

(01:01:57):
I don't even want to push these animals to the
point where they can't even you know, be healthy to
stand up and walk. Put it out there and let
it go enjoy its retirement because it's friggin earned it.

Speaker 2 (01:02:05):
But it's an animal, though, I mean, how does it
let you know that? Like, Traveler, you know you're you're
a usc Trojan. All right, well let me know soon enough, Traveler,
you know where Tommy Trojan will you know, be trying
to All right, Traveler, you know we're gonna jog the sideline.
I'm gonna hold my sword up, you know, and fire
up the twenty five thousand fans that are here at
the Coliseum. Yeah, there was a shot. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Hey, look,

(01:02:27):
I mean it's far from the Peete Carroll days. And
I still I still have some love for the mater.
But that was an awful That was a pretty low blow.
Right now, you've seen you've seen some of the crowd
shots and put the stadium that size. It's pronounced, I'm
sorry it is. Now when when I tell them that
COVID was over and you can fill up the stadium again?

Speaker 8 (01:02:45):
When I when when you know when good team comes
to town? Well, well, well, if L S U and
S we're playing in the opener, there'd be ninety thousand there, But.

Speaker 2 (01:02:53):
Michigan schools like that. The problem is they're gonna be
wearing blue and you know, blue and yellow.

Speaker 8 (01:02:57):
Yeah, when you when you toss state, uh no, disrespect
to Utah State shows up, there's probably sixty thousand. Yeah,
it's a it's a pain in the ass, but that's
the way it is. We're in the historic Coliseum, which
was probably now the most historic venue in college football
just because, and the Rose Bowl where UCLA plays their
home games, but neither one of them have been filled
enough the way they wanted to so but a nice

(01:03:19):
dig by you.

Speaker 2 (01:03:21):
Hell, I don't remember where I was going. I apologize.

Speaker 8 (01:03:24):
Yeah, it's okay. I can't even remember what I was
going to say. Now they had to defend my tropes. Sorry,
now what were we talking about?

Speaker 2 (01:03:29):
Oh? Just I mean, because it's like, all right, so
maybe a few times that happens, which I mean, I
understand the whole peda angle of all of this too,
and oh yeah, no, I I don't care. I don't
play like l LSU stopped. LSU's contention of why they
stopped doing the Mike the Tiger in the cage and
taking it around in the cage on game days was

(01:03:49):
that the these sidelines were now more compact, so they
wouldn't have room to be able to move it around.
But then the governor decided last year before they played Alabama,
well let's bring into other tiger, not Mike, and do
it with them. And then they got smacked by Alabama.
So usually when things like that happened, then fan bases
are like, don't do that ever again. Like Georgia used

(01:04:11):
to love the black jerseys, now they're thought of as
being a jinx because they played Alabama one year in
Bama crushed them.

Speaker 8 (01:04:17):
Well with a you asked how an animal would know?
First of all animals, And I've been around a lot
smarter animals at times, and I have human beings common sense.
But let me ask you this. Do you know when
your dog's tired? Do you know what time your dog
wants to eat? I mean, for the most part, idea,
do you know when your dog's not feeling the same?
You can kind of tell with their body language. And

(01:04:39):
what's the difference in the buffalo for people who train
that buffalo or somebody.

Speaker 2 (01:04:43):
But the fact that we're calling it, here's the problem.
Here's the fact.

Speaker 8 (01:04:48):
When you're calling uh, you know, Peter, I'm an animal lover,
But Peter doesn't get to decide what I do. If
you're a hunter, you're a hunter. They don't get to
decide what I eat and what I do. And I
let me finish before before before Pete jumps involved here.
But with that, I think you probably and the fact
that we say training an animal, well, we shouldn't be

(01:05:11):
training a buffalo. But I get the mascot, so I'm
not one of those out How dare them? Its abuse? Listen,
They've been doing it since the beginning of Colorado University
for the most part. But I do understand that, you know,
five years in it's a good run. Let them go
do their thing. They've earned the retirement, so I don't
have problem with that. But there'll be another Ralfie, and
I'm sure that Ralphie will be up and ready to
run because that Ralphie.

Speaker 2 (01:05:30):
Hals asked, Now, I think one of the former War
Eagles at Auburn actually did fly out of the stadium once,
because I mean, the whole thing is too is they'll
you know, show it on the video board there at
Jurdenhair Stadium and it's Jorden by the way of you know,
them opening up the kennel and the eagle starts flying
around and everybody wore and then you know, once the
eagle flies down to its handler, that's when everybody yells

(01:05:53):
out eagle. So for that one, I was like, so
what did people just keep you know, doing the twirling
their hand and in war for whatever the eagles name is,
when it just said the hell with this, I'm out
of here. Did it ever come back? Oh? I think they,
I mean I think they have trackers on it, so
they eventually, you know, found it and we're like, okay, hey,
well you don't have to do that anymore. It's all good.
There you go. So you know you don't want free

(01:06:15):
food and that's cool. It's all good.

Speaker 8 (01:06:16):
There's a reason why people have animals as mascots because
animals are cool.

Speaker 2 (01:06:20):
Oh you know, as I mentioned with with you know
the free food, maybe it was fried chicken, maybe the
maybe the bird said no, no, I'm good cold fried chicken.
The next day. You don't want that argument again to do well, No,
you laid out your talking points very well on that.
Roger will get you involved in the conversations. Swing back
into the Astros as that the Stros trying to get
a series win today. And we've talked about the muss

(01:06:41):
for the Astros. Maybe there's another one too, we'll discuss
it is a Sean Salisbury show here on a Thursday,
Sports Talk seven ninety sort of propainter sordopro dot com
free estimate.

Speaker 8 (01:06:51):
I'm getting my house painted because I want a new
color and I can't wait till sort of pro does it.
And it will be done efficiently, on time, local timely
always and the paint will be spot on. Why because
they're going to help me pick it because they are
the best. They'll do the same for you. That's why
they provide great customer service. Sortopro dot com for your
free estimate. And they've done interior an X tier for me,

(01:07:14):
and they've done it so well that my DIY painting
skills are now put on the back burner because well,
I want it done right the first time, and they
do it right and efficient, and it's expensive on a
home man and you can do it for your homewore
business Interior X here. It is expensive, so I'm not
sure why any of us wouldn't protect it with good,
nice quality painting and paints from curt of Pro painters.

(01:07:36):
And they're insight. Listen to your paint, your heart. That
is the presentation, right, we talk about curb appeal. Nobody
wants to see that. If you're selling it, you want
it to look good. If you're keeping it, you want
it to look good pride ego and to preserve what
your investment is. And the interior who doesn't like to
look around saying, man, those that couch really pops with
that paint. Curt of Pro can direct you any way
you need it. It is sort of pro painters again,

(01:07:58):
sort of what they see again, sort ofpro dot com
for your free es men. I'm so grateful to be
a customer first because then I got to see, well,
this is how good they are. And take it from me,
the painting was done to perfection at my place. And
if it wasn't, they'd be back. But they haven't had
to make a comeback. Why because they got it done
right the first time. It's sort of pro surtapro dot

(01:08:19):
com surt of pro painters. That's painting happy.

Speaker 2 (01:08:23):
The Sewn Salisbury Show continued and Keegan Bradley leaving himself
off the Ryder Cup team, picking Justin Thomas, Colin Marricawa,
Ben Griffin, Cameron Young, Patrick Cantley and Sam Burns as
captain's picks. We're talking strows right now. I know you
want to weigh in, as Roger has been waiting patiently. Roger.

(01:08:43):
Good morning, Roger, Roger, good morning, good morning. Sorry, Sorry,
it just came out of me. Roger. It's not you,
it's me.

Speaker 1 (01:08:55):
You're good. You're good. Hey, just one real quick, i'llk you.
It was a nice one list, but I'll still see
some lack of determination firing these guys, and uh, Parides
I think is a big, big loss. I think he
was a glue to this team being successful. I think
they need uh, they they lacked that glue guy. I

(01:09:20):
don't know who's going to be. It's certainly not going
to be there. Not going to be Christian Walker. Christian
Walker to me, is a pourd on guy. Whenever things
are going good, he'll pour it on. He'll get you
a home run. But he's not going to bust a
game open like Parides would have. And you know, in
some cases of course with you with on two day

(01:09:40):
and then got you know, of course operations back. But
I just think we like that glue guy. I'm not
sure who's gonna come from. But next year Paridis has
to be on this team no matter what. I don't
care what we do, but Pard's has to be on
this team. And that's all I've got.

Speaker 2 (01:09:54):
Guy, all Right, I appreciate that. Yeah, you as well, Roger.
I mean I would say on this surface, Carlos Carea
is that guy. But I mean with the bat in
his hands, the last couple of series or the last
couple of games, not great out of Korea, but I
mean he's the one that you look to Jeremy Pania
clearly is that guy too. But I mean I get
what he's saying because these have been snoozefests the last

(01:10:17):
couple of nights, Monday night clearly was or Tuesday to night,
you get what my point is. And last night, I
mean up until the seventh inning. Yeah, you get the
one run on the Hayesus Sanchez RBI single, but that
was a seeing I single that gets through and Fromer's pitching. Well,
but I mean you also, as we mentioned the seventh inning,
you got the runner on third base and Karras almost

(01:10:38):
carries Sanchez to the wall with his line drive. That
You're like, boy, that was lucky and good thing he
was standing where he was. Otherwise we're tied right now.
I mean, I get it that it is kind of
a feeling of playing with your food a little bit.
But are we arguing over a ford and nothing to
shut out win? Are we?

Speaker 3 (01:10:54):
Are we?

Speaker 8 (01:10:54):
I mean, taking when you can get them. I understand
that the optics didn't say they had seventeen hits, eighteen
hits and hit four home runs, and I mean I
get that, but and I know it's Colorado, but damn
we saw what called with the old I know it's Colorado,
you should hammer them what they did the day before,
and they had to fight and scratch all the way
through this one before they actually could close it out

(01:11:15):
at the end of the game with a couple of
home runs, even with a one zero lead at the
time it's seventh inning when Frommer went out. So I
personally I'm taking them then, because at this stage of
the game, if it was if it was a month in,
you'd say, really, come on, man, and it was a trend,
then I'd say, well, you got to get it fixed.
This is it is boring, it's a snoozefest, but a

(01:11:35):
seven inning performance, scatter in three hits and get a
couple home runs late. I'll take that snoozefest over man.
That was a pretty nine to seven loss. And it's
not like we can set up here and say, oh,
this is one hundred and five win team and man,
we'll see you in the in the ALCS. They don't
get they're not good enough to turn it on and
off like a light switch on a consistent basis, like
we've said. So I'm taking it. I understand Roger's point,

(01:11:59):
and yes, whether it's glue verbally or glue performance wise.
Eastak Paradis prove that he belongs here. Now, I don't
know where you're going to find him, of coraz here,
where he's going to play. I don't care idea because
I do too. But his bat showed me that that
he can play. And there's going to be some that
are going to pine for one of them to be

(01:12:20):
the first baseman next year, I assure you.

Speaker 2 (01:12:22):
And I know where most Astros fans are going to lean.

Speaker 8 (01:12:25):
That's what that's what you're going to to you know, think, well,
is it a natural progression? But he's a player, and
he's good at bats, and it also permeated that it
when when you have a good at bat like that,
you're going to see more pitches because well, or you're
going to get rid of that picture sooner because well
you've worked the count and more guys doing that. So
I'm with him, but I'm not bitching to complain. Yeah,

(01:12:47):
bases loaded, ground out six to four to three, double
play bummer ninety nine miles an hour to right down Broadway,
and Christian Walker couldn't catch up the next inning. Yeah,
I get it, but I'm also not. I ain't bitching
over a four shut out win, because in Los Angeles
right now, we'd say what an effort. If it was
in New York, say man, what a performance Boston, Oh

(01:13:07):
crochet was outstanding. So it's okay to say here, especially
going into this when Fromber's been reeling.

Speaker 2 (01:13:14):
I'm taking this anyway I can get it.

Speaker 8 (01:13:16):
Man and a four to Roho shutout, you give me four,
oh shut out fifteen more times before the season is over.
Ugly or not, I'm taking it. Snooze fest my ass off.
That's like winning a football game seventeen to thirteen and
you ran the ball for one hundred and eighty yards
and threw it twenty two times and it was just
kind of efficient but not explosive. I'm taking them. I
like boring teams.

Speaker 2 (01:13:35):
I do the win. I like boring wins.

Speaker 8 (01:13:37):
Exciting losses are fine, and Danny, when you got a
ten game lead, I just like, oh man, it doesn't
spin as well?

Speaker 2 (01:13:43):
He can spin it. He's got a great arm, does it?
Is it accurate?

Speaker 8 (01:13:45):
I'll take Peyton mannings a little bit of wobble before
I'll take a guy who can throw it through a
car wash without getting it wet, but can't hit a
car wash. Give me that all day. Same thing here.
I'm never bitching. There's pieces and compartmentalized. You got to
go well, still got to drive.

Speaker 9 (01:13:58):
In more runs.

Speaker 2 (01:13:58):
It's going to take more runs.

Speaker 3 (01:13:59):
Again.

Speaker 2 (01:14:00):
It's a good team all that.

Speaker 8 (01:14:01):
But I'm not bitching after what I saw the day
before on a four to h win, where you shut
out and from Bervaldez actually look like a guy that's
not just a guy.

Speaker 2 (01:14:09):
I'll take that all day long. As I've said numerous times,
it's not college football. There's no committee doing press. So
it's do you have seventy three wins? Do you have
a game and a half lead on the Mariners. The
answer to both of those is yes, and the astro
is going to try to increase that today. Garrett. See,
you're right there. We're working in you want to join them.
Seven one three two on two five seven ninety agains
seven one three two on two five seven ninety continuing

(01:14:30):
talking shows right here on the Sean Salisbury Show Sports
Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 8 (01:14:34):
Yes, we'll also talk men's tea clinic. Man, this is
the time of year that energy. I know you'll get
that energy from just football season, fellas, But think about it.
That could be fleeting. That's kind of like that. You know, man,
motivations temporary, but discipline's permanent type thing, and we're all
pumped up for it. But imagine now you've gone into

(01:14:54):
Men's Tea clinic. They've been in business eleven years, and
you go in and check your testosterone and let's say
it's low, because that's why your slug is sure, you
feel like you got a little brain fog, or your
sex life is sucked at home and Mama and you
are at odds. It'll make everybody happier. But it's not
just sexual well, this is full body wellness wellness optimization.
So let's just say you hit that and all of

(01:15:15):
a sudden, the first game or two in the football
season that, oh man, it's a tough week in college football.

Speaker 2 (01:15:21):
There's not a lot of great teams.

Speaker 8 (01:15:22):
Well, if you've normalized your testosterone and you're all hitting
on all of them, you twelve cylinders. Guess what now,
you're thinking to yourself, I didn't need the motivation, I
got the discipline. I walked into Men's tea clinic, got
things taking care of, drew a little blood non invasive
and now they can get to work at normalizing it.
So this energy is on a Tuesday, on a Friday,

(01:15:42):
on a Thursday, on a Monday, and at home things
are changing, and you know it is happy Mama, equal
happy home. And that's part of this wellness optimization, full
body wellness. And it's provided by the great team at
Men's Tea Clinic. It's Men's Teaclinic dot com going there,
work the pain plan, get this done because you can
control this and let Men's T Clinic help. Eleven years

(01:16:04):
in business making a difference, changing lives, Men's T Clinic
dot com, MIN'ST Clinic dot com.

Speaker 2 (01:16:10):
Let the celebration start.

Speaker 4 (01:16:12):
Or Sean Salisbury on Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 2 (01:16:17):
Hit the Google machine real quick. Well, I mean, I
don't doubt your knowledge of knowing that there's such a
candy bar called Abba zabas, but I think.

Speaker 8 (01:16:25):
It's you'll find it in old school candy stores. I'm
convinced that abbas Aba is a candida. Okay, I've seen him. Now, Like,
is it like kind of yellow and checked visits? Yeah,
black and white.

Speaker 2 (01:16:33):
Yeah, it just doesn't really look like it's like taffy
with a peanut butter Center. There you go.

Speaker 8 (01:16:39):
Otherwise simply known in these parts as an abada was
made in California, so you probably grew up eating these.

Speaker 2 (01:16:45):
That's what it is. I don't hate, Okay, that's fine.

Speaker 8 (01:16:48):
No, I'm just saying I don't like your judgment on Abasabas. Dude,
the name alone says I got to eat it, having
not had it. I don't really have much to judge.

Speaker 2 (01:16:57):
I just look, branding is a big thing, and this
just looks like a candy bar that I would probably
just pass by. Well, who's list of the test tests
the time? Uh?

Speaker 8 (01:17:07):
Some nasty like the well I was gonna I was.
You don't want to say what I was going to say,
because people get you know, if you if you offend
the Texas restaurant or something.

Speaker 2 (01:17:17):
It's like, you know, we don't do that. Yeah, there's
three that you don't offendaking of hope, Yeah, I mean
judging for a guy, it's got to be, well, what
a Burger's top of the list? Of course, Shipley's well
actually without the s see that's the way. Well, it's
not Winchell's Donuts, Shipley's, shipley Shipley's. Believe it or now,
oh that's Ripley's okay. The third one I don't know,

(01:17:40):
is it uh BUCkies?

Speaker 3 (01:17:42):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (01:17:43):
Yeah? Are those the three? You can't? Those are the
three that it's I mean, of course you know the
donuts here, you do that, or you try to say,
like some other brand of donuts, Well then people are
because I mean it's it's like you said, water Burger
and then you know another one that if you say
you like the other one, then people well if why
don't you get your ass out of here?

Speaker 8 (01:18:02):
Well what if you think that neither one of them
are the best burger on the planet.

Speaker 2 (01:18:05):
Well, I mean, I'm sure that that's probably not the case,
but I do have a clear which one I like.
And it's also to look, I've said this numerous times
when it comes to that argument, it's what you grew
up on. What if you like both? Well, and you
can and I do. I mean, I think I'm just
saying that one night I favor more than the other.
It's kind of like your kids.

Speaker 8 (01:18:20):
I think you disrespect Superstar with cheese at Carls Jr.
Or the Carls Western Bacon cheeseburger. Excuse me, excuse me,
disrespects East of the Mississippi. It's Harty's, Okay, hotties. Yeah, Hardy's.
That's good point. Sometimes it's one of one of the same.
They have the same car and Hardy's, I think it is.
I think they're the same yellow sign and all that
TIFFs too. I think it's the same parent companies. I'm

(01:18:42):
trying to remember which ones, like Rallies and Checkers. And
here's another thing. Okay, So if I've eaten at a
West Coast donor shop like Winchels, and I've eaten at
a Texas don a shop like Shipley's and you haven't yet,
you say, no, way, nothing's better than Shipley's, but you
haven't eaten them.

Speaker 2 (01:18:56):
How can you make that argument. No, that's a fair point.
So if you've tasted both, then you can come with argument.
Don't tell me you like coke better than pepsi. If
you've never eaten drinking a pepsi or coke, Well, it's like,
you know, you grew up in New York, but then
you moved to Chicago. The pizza is totally different. You're
gonna have people who are gonna be like, well, no, no, no, no,
Chicago pizza is so much better. But if people from
New York are gonna be like no, because ours is

(01:19:16):
actually pizza.

Speaker 8 (01:19:17):
Right, But if you've tasted both, you have a much
better argument than if one person is no, you got
the only thing that's the best pizza in the world
is he was right here? Well, if you taste both,
no Detroit pizza, have you Nope, Well then you don't
have an argument. All right, Okay, it's the same thing here.

Speaker 2 (01:19:32):
Donuts.

Speaker 8 (01:19:33):
Listen, Good donuts are I mean hard to come by
at times, but in truth, it's hard to mess up
with glaze.

Speaker 2 (01:19:39):
Don't it right?

Speaker 8 (01:19:40):
You would think so, I mean, you think that you
can make a good gladze? Don't It is in a circle?

Speaker 2 (01:19:46):
I mean.

Speaker 8 (01:19:46):
And Shipley's more than I have any donut shops since
I've lived in Texas because you can find them everywhere, right,
And I like, but I'm telling you why they're building
a duncan right by the crib and duncan sneaky long.

Speaker 2 (01:19:57):
I guess, I guess I just had a good cough. Yeah,
good coffee. But yeah, they expanded their roster too. Man.

Speaker 8 (01:20:05):
The protective and I love Texans the way they protect that.
And I've become a hell I've been in Texas now
twenty four years. Okay, so that's a long time. That's
a long time life. Yeah, that's a long time considering
you know where. And I'm thinking in one place for
in one state for a long time because my career.
You know, go to college and you'll grow up in
southern California and then you're playing everywhere else. You're live

(01:20:27):
in where you play, and so yeah, been here a
long time. So I consider myself, you know, California born,
but Texas is my home.

Speaker 2 (01:20:32):
And I would not live in California right now with
the way it is. I'll visit, but I'm not.

Speaker 8 (01:20:36):
Living, Okay, but I i Texans are far more offended
by you saying what a Burger doesn't have the BA
if you know, if you think somebody Burger's better than
Californians are about now, you'll get in an argument with
him if you've had both right or both either way,
whatever you like. But Californians are just a little more,

(01:20:57):
I guess, less protective, but a little more casual that
I've been around that. Okay, you love in and out great,
but they don't. Or you love waterburger cool man, Yeah
I do too. They probably argue they don't protect in
and out because now it's it's it's everywhere now and stuff.
But what a burger is California. It's as if it's
their baby, right, and I love their protection. But listen,

(01:21:17):
the fries it in and out, and the burger fresh good.
But there's there's listen. It's hard to screw up a
good burger too, yeah, but you have to try. But
give me, give me the give me the Paddy Melt
at Water Burger, dude, And I'm want it like a
chicken on a June bug.

Speaker 2 (01:21:32):
The new the new bacon burger they have out right now.

Speaker 8 (01:21:34):
I haven't had it. I haven't had it been much
fast food, but I do love a Patti Melt. And
they have for a fast food Patti Melt. Oh dude,
it is. It is the sauce on it. They do
sell the sauce and I do buy it. So whenever
I make my own burgers, you know, you can really say, okay, man,
there's a fast food Patty Melt. Really that's one of
those places where you go in you don't feel like,
oh this is nasty. Yeah, it is frigging off the charts.

(01:21:55):
I'm not telling you guys anything you don't know. And
my favorite there by.

Speaker 2 (01:21:58):
The way too for one of the rivals of Waterburger
right there, even they said, deuces, California, we're out of here.
Who's that in and out? Oh in the Tennessee. Oh Coln.
They're not stupid. Yeah they're saying that with this. Yeah,
it's really this noise anymore. Get out of here.

Speaker 8 (01:22:12):
If you take the eagle and pride to where you
come from out of it. There's something to love on
both of men. There's their plans for a reason. You
can go back every once in a while, but you
just live somewhere else.

Speaker 9 (01:22:20):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:22:20):
It's exactly I know that life. Ye all right, Garrett,
see you're right there. You want to join them? Seven
one three two one two five seven ninety Back into
the Astros conversation. Here on a Thursday, Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 4 (01:22:32):
KB Houston a CBS HD two Houston, an iHeart radio station.

Speaker 12 (01:22:37):
The Astross, the Rockets, Rockets your home for your home teams.
This is Sports Talk seven ninety from the Parsons and
Manchine Next Studios.

Speaker 10 (01:22:53):
Say oh, by Houston, Okay, let's do this show on
Salisbury USC troups longtime friend Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 4 (01:23:05):
Dan Matthews. This is the Sean Salsbury Show.

Speaker 2 (01:23:14):
Maybe four nothing wins for the Astros helps quell the disdain.

Speaker 8 (01:23:19):
How often a week do you think dis day and
Dan shows up over under is probably at two and
a half and a lot of times I do think
I hit the under, but it it toes the line,
it gets to about two. What is your biggest disdaining
about is that Astros?

Speaker 2 (01:23:32):
Oh? Yeah, that's one of that gets in your crawl
the most. Yeah. Like, my dad's been at the house
the past couple of nights, and you know, he's like,
it's like, Bud, you take this too personally, And I'm like,
I don't think I take it personally enough. Dad.

Speaker 8 (01:23:45):
Yeah, I probably not for you, but I probably lean
on leaning on side of your pops, not for not
for you, for all of them. I don't I get
over now. The next morning after that six to one
lost for David here, yes, yesterday, Yeah, it gets you,
but I do get even though by the end of
the day when the next game started, I was moved on.

Speaker 2 (01:24:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (01:24:05):
Maybe that's the athlete part, or you're in it because
I've had my ass kick plenty of times on the field,
so I get it, and one plenty do you say, Okay,
we're good.

Speaker 2 (01:24:13):
Got to move on anyway, But it is.

Speaker 8 (01:24:14):
That's why athletes are always able to move on quicker
than the normal. And plus you're in the in the mix,
so you can kind of control the game, right and
you're not from the outside. Man, how do I control this?
But oh, there's no doubt And hint, hence the fandom part.
We all take it too far now, certain teams of mine. Dude,
it's a different story. But I used to be far worse,
Like it used to bug me for four days, but

(01:24:37):
since played and got out of the league and covering
it because you got to cover it fair if you're
doing it right and on both sides, good and bad,
and hopefully a lot of it's good.

Speaker 2 (01:24:46):
I don't. I don't.

Speaker 8 (01:24:47):
It doesn't fester for me. The Monday stuff I'm done
with now. If you go back as a reference point,
it'll be like, yeah, you can't do that. But by
the next one, I'm living off the four to zero
win now as opposed to the six to one loss.

Speaker 2 (01:24:59):
Yeah, and that's what the Astros are living off this morning,
because that's what happened last night over the Rockies. Yourd
on Alvarez to run Homer frommer going seven in the win.
Nick Assario non committal on Joe Mixon's chances to play
this season, already set to miss the first four games
in college football. Maybe that's why I'm fired up because
Week one starts tonight, U of H hosting Steven F.
Auston over in third ward coverage are gonna get started

(01:25:21):
at six on KPRC nine to fifty, speaking of college
football about an hour from now, Chris Gordy Curtsy at
Carbak Brewing, college football, Astros, everything in between. We'll be
talking it with gorda tron. Let's keep it going on
the phone lines seven one three, two one two five
seven ninety Cypress we go. Garrett Awaits Garett, good morning.

Speaker 9 (01:25:40):
Hey, Good morning, Sean and Dan. Thanks for working me
in and I appreciate the time. Uh, it's good to
talk to you all again. I had just a real
small question, you know, because one of the astros prospects
that we haven't really talked about because he's been injured
is finally healthy again, Drew Leone, and he was on

(01:26:02):
the sixty day IL with the knee issu and he
just got put back on a rehab assignment Sugarland and
he's doing well. And I've always thought that he greated
higher than Jacob Melton, and I was kind of curious
on the echelon how he worked in of Jacob Meyers.
So I was just curious what you guys thought ultimately,

(01:26:25):
what they're gonna do with pedro Leone. Is he gonna
get healthy, is he still a prospect? Or do you
think they're gonna maybe move him by next year. That's
about it, and uh, great show as always.

Speaker 2 (01:26:39):
HeiG appreciate that, Garrett, have a great weekend, Thanks Garrett.
Leon is twenty seven, and as Garrett mentioned, he's been
hurt for most of the season and now finally getting
a chance. But I feel like Leon has also been
that guy that we've been hearing about for years, like, hey,
you know this guy's gonna get his chance, and you
know he can be a real contributor to this team.
And then last year you finally gave him a chance
and he hit one hundred for you. So I almost

(01:27:02):
wonder if you get to a certain point where he
shows enough good things and maybe I don't know, September.
You give him a chance that a team out there
could look at him and say, maybe a little bit
blocked there. But we feel like if you put him
as part of a deal, we can work them in there.

Speaker 8 (01:27:15):
Part of the problem for being an organization, and I
know with what happened with the science stealing and stuff,
that you were set back as an organization as far
as minor league, right, I mean, you were punished, and
I get it. And Peter Leon there's been the name
we've been talking about off and on for it's been
what for me since what five six years here?

Speaker 2 (01:27:36):
I mean right, yeah, he was always the one that
you're like, oh, yeah, it.

Speaker 8 (01:27:40):
Is, you know it is, and not for the same reasons,
but it may mean some of them because of injuries.
But you know, it reminds us because and as hard
as an Astro's a young player to break in, because
all those years at Bregman and Tucker and that whole
group Korea, you had players that in other organizations would
have been up maybe even sooner. You know that at

(01:28:00):
this time of year if you're in Colorado, but you
couldn't make this roster because they're always competing, they're always
good and they're not. They weren't old, so you were like,
you could be a good player, and you're like, damn,
I gotta go some. Corey Lee is a perfect example. Yeah,
for a long time, but a guy who's looked at
as a future boom got bipathed, moved him on for
an asset or two, whatever it was, and bam, here
you are and you think you have your catcher of
the future now, right. So you know what reminds me

(01:28:23):
of think about how many times, like I said, for
different reasons, but as an everyday player, it's he's the
Forest Whitley of the minor leagues and the astros, meaning
big potential, when's it gonna happen? You're anticipating on that
now Whitley's had more opportunity. I get it. I get
what happened there. And you exhausted them. You haven't exhausted

(01:28:44):
all with Leon, But the chatter we have about potential
and men expecting me because he can play center field,
he can play shortstop, and he's a and we know
he's got a bat. But where's the spot for him?
Well it's center field?

Speaker 2 (01:28:55):
Well is it?

Speaker 8 (01:28:55):
They've been in love with Jake Myerson and now Myer's
validated him at the plate this year, So were you
putting him? And we got Jacob Melton now, who plays
good defensive center field. If you mean speech soil you
a couple rags. So I tend to think that he's
an asset as opposed to that maybe that they're and
there may still be a future for him here. Hell
of a talent, but we're talking about him every year.

(01:29:16):
It's like, Okay, Peter Leon, Peter Leon. It's the same
feel for different reasons about Force Whitley. The question is
will it ever happen here? And I'm sure his frustration
grows and like I gotta finally grow into a position
where I can get a chance to play.

Speaker 2 (01:29:30):
Say it numerous times too, where injuries play a part
of your story. I mean, for Lance mcculler's junior, it's
a huge part of his story. I mean, you think
that you know mcculler's all right, hey, when healthy and
when he's able to throw strikes, which both of those
things are ifs at times that he can be a
really good option for you out the rotation. The problem
is he doesn't do those two things consistently, and with Whitley,

(01:29:53):
It was exactly that where they tried to give him
every single chance, let him work his way back from injury. Hey,
let's put him out in the bullpen. Some good stuff there,
and then in effectiveness where they finally were like, we
can't keep waiting, like we've got to be able to
give other guys a shot that he might be more
talented than they are. But for the other things that
we just mentioned, like I was talking about with mccullors,

(01:30:14):
it's exactly that that plays a part of it. That's
part of the evaluation.

Speaker 8 (01:30:16):
Well, it's part of in every position in every sport.
And you're exactly right. If I'm evaluating he Yo, you
don't want to be the guy. Then when you say, man,
great potential, got a chance to be a player.

Speaker 2 (01:30:28):
Butt.

Speaker 8 (01:30:29):
And then after that the butt is can he stay
on the field, can he stay healthy?

Speaker 2 (01:30:33):
You're one hundred percent correct.

Speaker 8 (01:30:35):
We say it about well, we've already said it about Trout,
but to two Playoffkames, man, can you imagine if he
was hell, I mean, what a great player?

Speaker 2 (01:30:42):
Butt?

Speaker 8 (01:30:43):
Can you imagine if he was healthy? Ken Griffy Jr.
The home run record would be out of reach and
it would be done without anything but a great swing.
If Griffy plays all his the majority of his games,
that he's not hurt in right, So it just yes,
it is part of the story. It's a part of
your growth, and it's also part of the reason why
you do or don't get a chance or somebody either

(01:31:03):
keeps or loses faith in you depending on it. To me,
durability is the most underrated part of pro sports. It
is we talk about, like the Mannings, I just use
them for far all the numbers they put up, those
three quarterbacks far of Eli and Peyton, just off the
top of my head. Do you know what makes and
mahomes right now doing it every single week too. You
know what they are. They're durable. I can count on

(01:31:25):
them to post every friggin week, and when they post,
it's a pretty damn good post. But they show up
and you're damn right. It's part of the evaluation. Keep
me away from the guys that are the sometimes guys.
Sometimes they're good, sometimes they're great, but sometimes they're really unhealthy.
And unfortunately the sometimes becomes a lot of the time
that guy. You can't count on them every day. And

(01:31:48):
if it's like that, I'm one of those guys that
suggests once you figure out who a guy is when
it comes to injuries or durability, and they're not durable,
but man, when they play, they're pretty good. I'm moving
on from that, regardless of who it is, because I
can't live like that. Well what about today every day
going to the ballparker to the stadium, wondering I'm only

(01:32:08):
getting seven games a year out of him in football?

Speaker 2 (01:32:10):
To me, I move on from that sooner than later.
Seeing that's funny that that's the perception of jord On
because he's played more than he hasn't I mean, twenty
twenty in this year, that's the most pronounced. And then
of course get.

Speaker 8 (01:32:22):
When it comes to all that because for different reasons, right,
I mean it counts.

Speaker 2 (01:32:25):
In the record, I get it, trust me, I get it.
In the mentions too, Oh wounds, he gonna finally decide
he wants to come back. I'm like, you do realize
that this is only his second real injury that he's had, right,
I mean he's had some il stints. We get that,
which players do you know? It's it's part of it,
But like, he's not one of those guys that you
were just mentioning, Yeah, where he plays once.

Speaker 8 (01:32:47):
Missus three, plays two, Missus ten play, you know, plays
twenty and then missus half a season. He's had a
couple of seasons. But that's big fellows banged up. It
happens now. But when somebody comes to me, he's not
in the top three or four, aren't there when I
say traits injury prone, isn't one of them.

Speaker 2 (01:33:03):
He hadn't played in almost four months and he just
took someone to dead center last night. That shows you
how good he is. It's pronounced.

Speaker 8 (01:33:09):
It's pronounced this year because they've desperately needed him, and
unfortunately he's been hurt. But being injured once or twice
doesn't call you that you're not durable. Right? Has Aaron
Rodgers been durable in his career? Yeah, he missed the
whole season due to an achilles. All of a sudden,
we're gonna say, yeah, that's durable, right man?

Speaker 2 (01:33:28):
What happened? Right?

Speaker 8 (01:33:29):
So you get the point, So, yeah, you could still
be durable as hell. Not everybody's ripken. Matter of fact,
nobody is. So nobody ever will that. That's exactly well,
they won't let him. They did, the organization just won't
let a guy be Ripken anymore, even if he wants
to be let it. Yeah, oh yeah, they won't, just
will not let it happen. I mean, dude, it's hard
enough for you to get somebody to want that plays

(01:33:50):
three hundred straight games. I wonder what the longest I
know it's bigger than that. I wonder what the longest
current game consecutive game streak is right now. But you know,
the day off nowadays, it's like, oh, I'm not asking you,
I'm telling you you're taking the day off. Then Kyle
Ripman was going to fight you if you didn't put
him in a lineup. So there's change, man. The research

(01:34:11):
team is going to start crunching the numbers on that.
Gil will get you involved in the conversation.

Speaker 2 (01:34:15):
I also do want to get into a little bit
of college football because this is something carrying over from yesterday.
I understand the news. I just don't really like the poll.
We'll talk about it. It is the Shawn Salisbury Show,
Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 8 (01:34:26):
Hey Sean here, And I asked the DNM leasing executive
the other day, who is your ideal customer? Is it
someone who writes checks for Ultra luxury cars and is
having second thoughts about that depreciation. Is it someone who
trades away three years, constantly accumulating negative equity while making
higher payments every time, or is it a budget conscious
customer looking to say forty to fifty percent in monthly

(01:34:47):
payments with reasonable terms. His answer was, it's all of
them and more white glove cossierge experience at less costs.
Luxury suv, sports cars, pickup trucks, family sedans. We do
it all at DNM Leasing. With fifty thousand active customers.
We have the program for you, and our experts currently
on standby all of them. Leasing is not rinting. It's

(01:35:08):
the smarter option for most. If you've listened to us
for all these years, you have not reached out, It's
time you call now. Dial seven to one three two
nine zero one thousand. That's seven one three two nine
zero one thousand for Dmudoleasing dot com.

Speaker 2 (01:35:23):
Let the celebration start more. Sean Salisbury on Sports Talk
seven ninety. It is a Sean Salisbury show, Sports Talk
seven ninety. Stros win four nothing last night over the
Rockies and they're gonna go for a series win this afternoon.
Astros on Deck coming her way at noon right here.
Sports Talk seven ninety Texans GM Nick Casserio non committal

(01:35:46):
on Joe Mixon's chances to go this season, as he
has already said to miss the first four weeks of
the year. As we'll be talking a little bit of
college football here, but I know some of you still
want to get in a little bit on the astros
and everything else that we've gotten to, so what we
will do that, So we continue on the phone lines.
Gil wants the way and good morning, Gil, what's going on?

(01:36:09):
What's up? Man?

Speaker 1 (01:36:10):
So very refreshing that yor Done hit that one gets center. Man,
it was that was awesome.

Speaker 2 (01:36:16):
I was with my son watching the game and he's like,
you know they were walking in the way. Yeah, they
treat him like Barry Bonds kind of do you think so? Yeah,
I mean he's definitely got the uh, the talent that
warrants such treatment. For sure.

Speaker 8 (01:36:30):
I'm not letting him beat me. Somebody else has beat me,
it ain't gonna be him.

Speaker 11 (01:36:34):
Yeah, because they walked him the first game back and
then walked them and then it was like be gave
him a good pitch and boom.

Speaker 1 (01:36:40):
That that was awesome. Anyway, Sean so did did?

Speaker 9 (01:36:45):
Uh?

Speaker 11 (01:36:46):
Was it Burger in and out Berger were just starting in.

Speaker 2 (01:36:48):
California, California. Yeah, yeah, good burger. If they're like the
tiny can compared to w B. Yeah, but I mean
it's just they're they're different, that's the other that's the
other thing is too Gill. I mean, they're like they're
they're different. And as I've said, it's it's what you.

Speaker 3 (01:37:08):
Grew up on.

Speaker 2 (01:37:09):
Yeah, and you know, a double double is pretty good size.
I mean it's not.

Speaker 8 (01:37:12):
I mean, there there's some other burgers out there that
are bigger. But we were just talking about the taste.
I mean, I think that there's something to like on
all the menus and in and out. It's not trash.
It's a good burger. I'm not a big fries guide.

Speaker 2 (01:37:25):
In and out.

Speaker 8 (01:37:25):
I think they could, you know, whether it's your animal
fries or not. But yeah, it's they're not real big.
And when you're growing up, they all look bigger. The
big Mac looked enormous, right, and now you look at it,
it's like the big Mac is like a two bider Ghill,
you know what I mean. So, I don't know, I
think there's things like that's one of those, Well you
can't like that one. Yeah, I can like all of them. Actually,
I can actually like In and Out and I can

(01:37:47):
do yeah, just like when I want that chicken strip
barbecue souch.

Speaker 2 (01:37:50):
That's much. See this, these are mine? Yeah, you got
one yourself, and.

Speaker 8 (01:37:53):
I can like them all. We could argue on wan
who's better. Fine, because there's times and I've had water
Burger and I'm like, this is the best thing in
the world because of the timing of it. There's times
I've had In and Out and say, oh my gosh,
this double double right now, just hit right fresh, ready
to go. And there's times also when while you while
you're bull driving, dell talk, I mean a a jack

(01:38:14):
in the box tackle, it's just as good as.

Speaker 2 (01:38:16):
Any of It's like a Marine Corps rifle. There are
many like it, but this one is mine. That's that's
exactly right. So it just see time and a place.
But they're all pretty good.

Speaker 8 (01:38:23):
I'm wonder if I'm assuming Gil liked In and Out
but it just didn't wasn't massive.

Speaker 2 (01:38:29):
Enough for him, right, Gil Gill's not there anymore. Oh,
I think he'll quit. Oh, no, Gills aren't going. Man
driving somewhere. I think he'll.

Speaker 8 (01:38:38):
Or he's maybe he didn't retire, but he's alway. He's
always on the road and over in the A and
M area and driving around doing stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:38:46):
But yeah, I'm one of those guys. I'm not. Well,
you can't like this one better?

Speaker 8 (01:38:49):
You've done it at eight o'clock in the morning, any
don't if I if I get a donut, it better
damn will taste good no.

Speaker 2 (01:38:54):
Matter where I get it. Well, it's like you know
it Chid, the guy that comes on after us, Matt
Thomas all the time, who has self proclaimed himself as
Miss Texas. But I think that he has just said
that brisket is just fine. Maybe maybe I'm misrepresenting. I'm
sure I'm gonna get a text here. What's Matt's food?
If Matt if Matti, what's he's He likes a mic rib? Yeah,
I've never had one a day in my life, and

(01:39:15):
I don't think I ever will. So Matt wants the
micrib year round. Because if I'm going to do barbecue,
if I'm going to do ribs, then I'm going to
go to a barbecue place that I know makes good ribs.
I don't need it. De boned and on a sandwich
and who and who even says that it's even remotely
the same. So do we know that? Do we know
that about Matt? That his fact? You've heard of his

(01:39:36):
fa favorite. Yeah, that fileo fish sandwiches too, trust me
of him and Ross eating it. And Matt had the
huge thing of tartar sauce on the side of his mouth.

Speaker 8 (01:39:47):
Oh man, that'll make you horny. So that's the gig, huh.
I mean it was probably intentional that I left that
part in the video. So you so yeah, so you
say that, Maddie, He'll tell you barbecues it's fine.

Speaker 2 (01:40:00):
Yeah, yeah, And you have to do it the way
that he does it too. Now you like barbecue, that's fine,
that's fine, that's fine. It's so nonchalant, right, So what
would his what's his like'? You hear him all the
time and you've worked with him. What is his food
like at all? Like his number one go two meal,
not fast? We just at any time? What's this like?
Is he a meat and potatoes guy? I would have

(01:40:21):
to believe. Is that is that who he is?

Speaker 13 (01:40:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:40:22):
I'd have to believe. I mean, I know one time
when I talked with him and Matt can kind of
put the personal business out there. Tacos were being made,
so I mean, who doesn't like to do it? Doesn't
like taco? Is there anybody in the world that doesn't
like Mexican food? I would say it can't be some
spicier than I'm a big spicy guy. Out of the
hotter the better.

Speaker 8 (01:40:41):
But I'm just curious who doesn't like Is there anybody
out in the on the planet that does like Mexican food?

Speaker 2 (01:40:47):
Would probably say people in the Northeast, even though they
love it, because I would think that they'd love like
when they go on a trip to San Diego because
it's got great authentic Mexican food.

Speaker 8 (01:40:57):
I would think that they'd love it because I crave.
Like if you like a deep dish pizza once in
a while, deep dish pizza all the time, you can't
do it, But when you fly to Chicago, for me,
I'm getting it. I'm mortar and ahead of time. In
an hour, I'm getting deep dish pizza. Now you're eating
two pieces will make you sit the full for three
straight days. But that's what I gotta do. So in

(01:41:18):
the norse because I don't.

Speaker 2 (01:41:19):
Get it enough. In the Northeast. I would think that
if you've had Mexican food and you don't get the
type of Mexican food you want, you can't wait.

Speaker 8 (01:41:26):
It's like I love seafood. I know we haven't Galles
and but I miss you know, San Diego. You know
there's some good seafood restaurants down there, but you can
get those in Florida. You can get them here. But
with Mexican food is there there's some people don't like fish,
some think it's too fishy, some don't like the texture.
But who doesn't like other it's text mex or Mexican food,
whatever you're into. Who doesn't like Mexican food.

Speaker 2 (01:41:46):
I would even say maybe even South Floridians because that's
more of Caribbean. So I mean, you got jerk chicken
type of chicken. Yeah, you get Jamaican eats, some.

Speaker 8 (01:41:55):
Jerk chicken with rice. It destroyed jerk absolutely triple You
like Mexican food.

Speaker 2 (01:42:01):
Just had something last night there?

Speaker 8 (01:42:03):
Yeah, I'm just trying to even if you don't like
a certain like if you don't like enchiladas but you
like burrito, if you don't like hard shell tacos but
you like soft shell takers whatever. Hell I missed the
old school taco bell tostada. You don't get enough of
those on a flat hard what they try to call
it chilupa, but it's not really a chilupa. But your
point is, I love it. But I just I can't

(01:42:23):
fathom that anybody doesn't like Mexican food.

Speaker 2 (01:42:26):
It's a regional preference to I mean, like I said,
up in the Northeast, like they're more of Italian. But
I'll go ahead and put them on the spot. My
uncle's sixtieth birthday, it's pretty awesome. We were up there
and went to a Yankee game. Sweet it was a
really awesome time. Then we go back to his house
and he says, oh, yeah, hey, this Mexican spot that
I really like. Here is is catering the dinner, and
I'm like, Mexican food in Westchester County, New York. I've

(01:42:49):
got my doubts. My doubts paid off because the enchiladas
were basically manicotti.

Speaker 8 (01:42:54):
Well that's not an enchilada. No, it's not a real
cheese enchilada is not stuffed with mannicotti.

Speaker 2 (01:42:59):
That's not it. Oorn tortillas, cheese meat gravy, sprinkle.

Speaker 8 (01:43:04):
Cheese, and I like some green sauce on mine too
at times, and the red distich sometimes I mix both
because I like the spice of it.

Speaker 2 (01:43:11):
Yeah. I like Christmas in New Mexico. Yeah, I just
don't understand how. I mean, maybe, but I guess not understand.
I don't know anybody that doesn't like.

Speaker 8 (01:43:19):
Whether it's a breakfast burrito, that's that's a Mexican breakfast burrito,
you know has how if you're I'm a huge Uh,
what's the sausage, the spicy sauce cheriso guy? Oh freaking
love choresa and my mom made homemade cher so. So
I'm just trying to figure does anybody not like Mexican food?
Have you ever run anybody said I don't like Mexico.
Not is their favorite, but just like it.

Speaker 2 (01:43:37):
I had a buddy and teammate in college that was
from Schenectady, New York, and we would go eat at
a Mexican spot there in Singein. He'd get a burger, yes, literally,
that's what he got. Yeah, But I didn't blame him
because he didn't grow up on it, right. He grew
up on like his comfort food is Italian food and pizza, right,
like he tell us every time he went home, that
was the first thing he got.

Speaker 8 (01:43:56):
But I would be the one that says, dude, just
do me a favor. We can get a anywhere anytime
we want, you know, just just give me here here,
try this Tomali. But I probably wouldn't go Tomali's early
because sometimes, Yeah, the basic build your own fijeta, get beef,
chicken and shrimp, and you just just take which one
you like, throw a little sour cream or gualk in
there if you want, and let us demand and let

(01:44:17):
it rip, and then we can build onto the stuff
the cheriso and the tamalis that are that are authentic,
homemade Mexican real style tamalog.

Speaker 2 (01:44:27):
That's probably too much to get him early. But you're right.

Speaker 8 (01:44:29):
You can't ruin a You can't ruin a fieta, right,
especially since you're doing it yourself. As long as the
beef and the chicken are cooked.

Speaker 1 (01:44:35):
Right.

Speaker 2 (01:44:35):
Here's the key when it comes to especially beef fihtas.
People don't understand this. Citrus citrus matters. Oh I always
citrus lime, lime on my fajeta, lime, lemon or orange. Yeah,
and you throw them in the bag too, Let it
sit overnight, then take the bag out to the grill,
tongs onto the grill. Yeah, if you're making it at home,

(01:44:59):
oh there's no there, there's no doubt. I can share
a recipe if people want it at Dan Matthews h
o U DM with with the all at.

Speaker 8 (01:45:05):
Once, the sweet and the spice at the same time.
You know, when you're talking about the UH, the the
part of UH. I mean that the lime and the
lemon not sweet. But it was when I say sweet,
I met sour. But you mix that with the spice
and and and you finally dial it up to perfection.
That's rebo in there. Yeah, it's hard for me to
figure that people don't like Mexican food. I don't know

(01:45:27):
anybody that does that doesn't I don't even know if
I want to know him.

Speaker 2 (01:45:30):
But I don't even know who you are anymore. Dan,
it's not me. Don't look at me, dude, I don't
even know who's also. So you try to do this
with college football. Now you're gonna try you know what,
you hate college football. I'm Mexican. It's shameful down you know,
there's there's there's one person here who's not being one
hundred percent honest with the audience. I'm not going to
point any fingers and it's not you. This isn't that
I confess he did a thing. I'm just telling you,

(01:45:53):
all right. So speaking of college football biscuit is actually
leading me into something I want to talk about because,
like I said, I thought this was really dirty poll
and I did not like it. We'll discuss right here.
It is the Sean Salisbury Show on Thursday Sports Talk
seven ninety.

Speaker 8 (01:46:06):
Hey, let's talk Trasan. Well for a second. You planned
your vacation for next summer. Yet how much time and
effort you put into it to saving money and prepare
so you say you're not pension pennies when it gets there,
worried that you're going to miss your vacation. Well, if
you've done that, then are you doing that for your retirement?
A local trusted financial fiduci is right here, and in
my talks with them and meetings with them, every time

(01:46:28):
I visit with them, it becomes more apparent that if
you get started right, they've got great answers to your
questions and the test and great insight and great teaching
things you can learn at DIY Investors. I get it,
but imagine this. Take your skills and apply them with
a free review with Trajan Wealth and match them up

(01:46:49):
together and think, well, I prepare to year from my vacation.
Now I got to prepare for twenty five years or
thirty years of retirement. Are you ready? If you're not,
give them a call three four six three seven one
three thirty three four six, three seven one thirty three
thirty for your free review. You prepare, whether it's four
one k rollover, whether it's preparing for how much money

(01:47:10):
it's going to take to stay retired. You want the
option to be yours. You don't want to be forced
back to work because all you didn't prepare properly. So
whenever you're starting, put a plan together, plan your work
and work your plan. And Trasian Wealth is there to help.

Speaker 2 (01:47:23):
It's Trationwealth dot com, Trationwealth dot com. You deserve peace
of mind, tras Wealth is there to help you find it.
Trasanwealth dot Com Advisory services off through Trasian Wealth LLC
and SEC Registered Investment Advisor. Paid advertisement for the Sean
Salisbury Show continued the Dave Portnoy News. You know oh

(01:47:46):
you know, Fox decided and then you know it wasn't
us at Ohio stage. You know, it's just that they're
not going to have their their desk crew in there.
All of this. Somebody said something, somebody put out the report,
and all I could think about the last couple of
days with that, Sean, is what dirty pool? Because we
know what's happening this weekend. The main attraction is the
game itself, Texas and Ohio State. We get that this

(01:48:08):
is Lee Corso's weekend. Like and I'm not saying that
like this is going to sway people to watch and
oh is you know big noon kickoff? You know with
Brady Quinn and all of them, are they going to
make this into something like professional wrestling that hey, here
comes Dave Portnoy coming in on a drone, Like I
don't think there's going to be any stuff like that.

(01:48:29):
And really, honestly, he's such an in consequential character of this.
Like I saw that Bobby Carpenter guy you hear on
some spots on our station, former Ohio State guy. He
doesn't know football. You're missing the point, Bobby, That's not
why he's there. He's there to provide the pat McAfee,
part of what he does on college game day. But
for all of this, somebody said something lay low for

(01:48:51):
this weekend. You want to do this again at another time,
like Michigan plays at Ohio State something like that. That's fine.
You think this was planned, Yes, one hundred percent. I
think this was. They're like manipulated and say because they
knew all eyes would be on Lee Corso and everything,
which look from ten thirty to eleven o'clock our time,
we're all going to be watching, and probably all going
to be watching the entire time, and probably with tears

(01:49:12):
in our eyes because Kirk's gonna start crying. They're all
going to start crying. There's gonna be tributes, everything like that,
the family will come out, all all of these other
things that you know or remember coach who, as Bear
fairly pointed out yesterday, is the reason why we have
Inside the NBA and some of these other shows. Because
they looked at it and said, hey, that works. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (01:49:32):
It went from you know, they were they used to
be people seem so far away, but they used to
be in studio weekly, right, and they they'd go to
a hand then they started then they started going to
a hand full of games in on a week that
was like maybe a week schedule. They weren't going to
smaller schools like you go into Montana or Montana State
have a Nick Faldo do picks in his off season,

(01:49:53):
you know what I'm saying. They were just kind of
and then it got to twenty.

Speaker 2 (01:49:55):
Well wait, like Indiana Jones, Right, it got to a
point where it's like, okay, we're doing four of these,
but everybody, it's not just the big schools.

Speaker 8 (01:50:02):
Hell, matter of fact, some of them are. When you
show up at a smaller school, it's even more impressive
because this is the one time they get it. They're
not Ohio State. They've been there a million times and
they don't take it for granted. But we've seen the
movie and that's exactly where it started for Lee and
exactly where his final broadcast is going to be. On
the college game day set. I listen, I like Portnoy,

(01:50:22):
and I get the why they're doing it. There's no
doubt it's the he's the Pat McAfee McAfee lightning Rod
saying stuff that goes over in pizza, all the stuff
that he's going to bring to it. But make no mistake.
Regardless of all that, I don't really care if they're
let him in are out of the same. This week
my TV, I'll have it on a bunch of TVs,

(01:50:43):
but I'm gonna be focused on Corso the whole time.

Speaker 2 (01:50:46):
I mean Corso the entire time.

Speaker 8 (01:50:48):
I gotta tape it because as well, a gift for
my son is getting married from his future father in law.

Speaker 2 (01:50:52):
We're actually flying out tomorrow. Go watch Scplane now.

Speaker 8 (01:50:55):
We ought to hammer because his future father in law
is Alma mater is who these playing. But I'll have
that tape and I'll watch it from where we are
a hotel room or whatever. Right, But yeah, I'm not
missing that for oh it's portnoy in or out. I
like Dave and I think he's going to bring something.
There's no doubt that crowd, the barstool crowd fans. But
in truth, there's no way you guy got news for you.

(01:51:17):
People on the Fox set are watching Corso. The people
I'm talking about during commercials, and people in the production
they've got a TV on, they know what's going on.

Speaker 2 (01:51:28):
There will be rob Stone, there's going to be a
by the way, you know, our friends over at ESPN
we want to wish Lee Corso the best Nance does
when they do the gusts and say, man, the US
Open ten. He'll turn it over our guys at NBC.
There you go, We'll turn it over to our friends
for the next three weeks and the Golf channel. That's
exactly right.

Speaker 8 (01:51:48):
So listen, you can have great competition and still recognize legends.
And this is they they should and Rob Stone worked
at ESPN for a long time and so there is
no doubt that the right move because you're not taking rating,
you're not gathering ratings when Corso's giving. You're just not
going to steal this weekend, this weekend, regardless that you're

(01:52:10):
a pregame show and all that stuff and adding portanoy. Well,
you're watching Corso this week, you just end the reaction.

Speaker 2 (01:52:16):
You just are. So the best thing to do was
would be to recognize it, because that'll go a long
way in relations. You just should. Then you can kick
back into the competition.

Speaker 8 (01:52:27):
This is this is recognizing greatness and a legend and
the biggest legend in the pregame show business. And he
deserves your attention this week, and I'm giving it to him.
And I know most people are as well.

Speaker 2 (01:52:38):
He's going to have it. I've already told buddy of
mine that I'm hanging out with this week, and I said, hey,
eight o'clock breakfast, tacos are going to start being made
on the stove, and we'll even start popping some tops
doing all of that. We're going to start grilling out
for the early game. It's yes, a weekend. I'm already
in that mode right now, all but dude, in my

(01:53:00):
mind first, but it's going to be trending that direction
for you.

Speaker 8 (01:53:04):
If you ask me this in June, I would I did.
I'm not ready for college football right now, Dude, somewhere
I wasn't. That's not But this is the time in
June when people say, man, you're ready for football. No,
I'm not ready for football. I'm ready for June, relaxed,
boom Europe. I'm not that guy who wants football year round.
It burns me out. I'm ready for it now we've

(01:53:24):
kicked into late July, early August. Now it's the time
in June when they say you excited for football. No,
I'll look forward to it, but now I'm excited. I'm
still in baseball mode. In golf mode when I'm in
June and there's room for both for me.

Speaker 2 (01:53:37):
Yeah, I can. It's all all the prognosticators and books coming.
That's fine.

Speaker 8 (01:53:42):
I'm not gung ho on whoo man. I can't wait
till June comes and I can start talking football. Gimme
right now.

Speaker 2 (01:53:48):
Now. It's on Saturdays. I don't want to burn out, right,
and Biscuit wants to weigh in on this. Biskeyit. You're
gonna lead us off, and we'll continue the college football
conversation because something that actually you just had a conversation
almost somebody else that I want to get into. So
we'll do all that, and then don't forget Chris Gordy
the entire nine o'clock hour hanging out with us courtesy
a Carbock Brewing Sean Salisbury Show, Don't go anywhere Stay

(01:54:10):
sort of pro painters. I use them. I used them
before I became well a guy who's part of the team.
And why'd I use them? I tell you why.

Speaker 8 (01:54:18):
It's sortapro dot com for the free estimate. And you know,
each and every sort of pro business is individually owned
and operated. Though those are the obvious things, but I
think it's also obvious. If you go to somebody who's
used curt of Pro, you'll see a difference.

Speaker 2 (01:54:30):
And to me, that does matter.

Speaker 8 (01:54:32):
You know where in the corner, well, oh, they missed
a spot that's not curt of Pro. Maybe it's you
as a di Wire or me, but it's not them.
And getting into your home is a local timely and
treating your home as if it's their own home and
what they're doing in their house. You have a couch
and you say, well, I'm not sure if the pillows
on this couch pop on that wall, what do you think.

(01:54:53):
They'll know the color and they will know.

Speaker 2 (01:54:56):
They will know the exact paint that pops matt shiny, whatever, glossy,
whatever is. You're looking for experts and they do it right.
So regardless of where you are, you.

Speaker 8 (01:55:06):
Moving, you want it presentable, you're staying, you want it
presentable just for your own eyes. Forget the ego and
pride of everybody saying, man, that paint job's awesome, which
is great, But for me, I want it done right
and I want to there's pride in it. And while
being a di Wire is great to me, my pride
is in the fact that they get it done right,
and it looks great and I can move forward because well,
my DIY now can go to somewhere else because I

(01:55:27):
got the best paint job on the planet from the
best company. I will not do it myself anymore lazy, no, smart, Yes,
because Curt of pro Painters will do it for me.
Sirdopro dot com sort of pro painters, sort of pro
that's painting.

Speaker 2 (01:55:42):
Happy boy, you're back. This is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Get back at it. Our got biscuit. What's going on, Biscuit?
Good morning, Hey, Top of the morning. Brothers, same man.

Speaker 13 (01:56:00):
This is and Sean you could probably be a chime.

Speaker 11 (01:56:02):
And this is one of those things, Shine, that makes
you start feeling old man. Lee course, so man, Shine,
I hear. I'm Rual Indy at elementary school, middle school.

Speaker 13 (01:56:15):
Lee came over there.

Speaker 11 (01:56:15):
And recruited some of the big, big time of dudes
around our neighborhood. Played football at IU. And we're talking
about when IU football was nothing, Shine, you know, back
in the day. This is when Bobby was in the
middle of his run with the IU basketball you know,
undefeated teams and all that. So you're trying to get

(01:56:36):
somebody to play football at IU. Come on, man, and
Lee Corso, it just came over there and made him relevant.

Speaker 9 (01:56:41):
Man.

Speaker 11 (01:56:41):
They even what one of my buddy's brother played on
the team that won that first bowl game for IU
and football. So you know, old Lee Corso man.

Speaker 2 (01:56:52):
Just legend makes you feel old.

Speaker 8 (01:56:54):
Yeah, you talk about getting old. Dude, I played against
he coached. We had my freshman year, I mean my
freshman year Marcus had we can do the math at
Indiana right there in Bloomington. Marcus had forty carries for
I think two hundred and seventeen yards, and that Lee
wasn't real happy with that, and we beat them like
a I think Babe Lafenburg was a quarterback then.

Speaker 3 (01:57:13):
It was.

Speaker 2 (01:57:13):
It was awful. They had some good players, but we
Marcus Allen was looking people up. Dude. It was like
I'm watching it. He was every week. He's two hundred yards.

Speaker 8 (01:57:21):
And then the next year we played him in our
building and we beat him down in our building and
I was scrambling to the side and I scrambled and
ran when I when I at that point I pre
knee surgeries, dude, I could move and I got about.

Speaker 2 (01:57:37):
Two yards out of bounds.

Speaker 8 (01:57:38):
One of their linebacks came and unloaded on me, hit
me about five I mean, do my head hit the
ground first? Bruce Matthews never missed a game due to injury.
And Bruce came on a dead sprint and I'm talking
about biscuit. He laid a body block on the guy
who hit me late, protecting the quarterback, and a guy
landed on our track because we have a track that

(01:57:58):
surrounded the field. I'm talking about. He went farther than
I did on the hit. And that's not Bruce was
always mean when the ball snamp. Bruce was always calm.
Corso's Bruce tells the Corso's m F and HM of going,
you know, standing over him and pointing down. And Bruce
gets up and I've never heard Bruce cuss. He said
up and gave him and he Bruce tells the story

(01:58:19):
about what he told his kids. Well there's that guy.
He goes, yeah, I got to tell you a story
about that the shade and Bruce dropped up on them.
They kicked Bruce out and I said, I take pride
and my number one that you protected me and were
that into it. But secondly that it was Corso and
after all these years he's retiring, not only as a
coach now, he's retiring from game day. But that's the
only game Bruce has ever been kicked out, and once

(01:58:41):
he signed after a holdout with Howard Slusher. When he
signed here, he has never missed a game due to injury.
So I said, I take great pride we got one
on him. The only game you ever got kicked out
of was an f bomb at Lee Corso on the sidelines.
Take that with you what he says, thanks, and Bruce
tells a great story. But I'll never forget it. Bruce
hit that guy so hard and they ran him, Bruce,
and that's shocking to Bruce. Bruce Matthews didn't do anything

(01:59:03):
to ever get run other than dominate your ass. So yeah,
Biscuit Man a long time, but great memories. And I'm
going to miss cours So, but it's time for him
and he's earned this special day for him on Saturday,
you're here.

Speaker 13 (01:59:15):
Yeah, I'm definitely gonna be watching Man. And like I say,
Man is living living in Indiana. Man, he made Indiana
football somewhat relevant. Man, And like if they hats off
the lead course, So Man, like I say, I want
to see uh he get a good fend off man.
And he's a great guy man from what I've seen.

Speaker 2 (01:59:36):
Some phenomenal human being.

Speaker 8 (01:59:38):
And his recall all those years, you know, and they
slowed his after the stroke, slowed down, but he's still
that energy. And I know you knew that from Indiana.
He was fiery as hell. Remember when he first started
on TV, right, Biscuit, I mean it was it was
wild watching him get after it.

Speaker 2 (01:59:54):
Yeah, I love him, man. And he's such a class
guy too, good sense of humor too.

Speaker 9 (01:59:58):
Man.

Speaker 2 (02:00:00):
No doubt we'll be watching for sure. Enjoy your opening Saturday, brother.
What's that? Yes, sir, there's no doubt about that. Great stuff.
Biscuits appointment viewing and a good buddy of mine when
we were in Atlanta, Fred Khalil did TV there for
a long time and he played for Lee at Indiana
and he used to tell the story of we'd be

(02:00:21):
out of practice. And you know, some teams now they
just have like a built in like airhorn, like you know,
it sounds like you're at a basketball arena to let
you know, hey, we're going to period two. But the
old school days and some of them still do. It
is usually the equipment guy, you know, hey, sound the horn, Dan,
and uh, it would always be coarse. So he said,
you can hear him during practice, he'd be out there,

(02:00:42):
horn man.

Speaker 8 (02:00:42):
How much time? We got two minutes, coach, and they
stay on They want to stay on time, right, So
practice on time. And then if you can even go
back year when Lee started, when Lee was a player,
I'm damn well sure his head coach was yelling into
a megaphone, you know what, a cheerleader saying. That's how
they did it. Then before they advanced to someble, stand
up in that tower and look down and have the
megaphone up there with a mic on, making sure everybody

(02:01:05):
hears coaching. The way you approach practice changed and now do.
When I was going to school, we didn't have any
music playing a you know, we focused your folks, do
you want to focus in? Got to hear the coaches
got that story right, And then all of a sudden
it went for one hundred and eighty degrees. It was like,
no noise, the noise is out here, we're talking, we're
coaching our players. Then it got the point, dude, you

(02:01:26):
bet they do it not just for the jam and
during stretching. So it's a distraction where you got to
deal with all this crap and you're communicating and you're like,
what is the pain of ass?

Speaker 2 (02:01:35):
Like okay, man, I can handle this music. And then
it just becomes white noise, right, and it's a good thing.
It's like Jim Mora Junior once he told them about, Hey,
I played in Indiana. We probably handled you guys, and
Fred goes, no, beat your ass in Bloomington. Then we
beat your ass in Seattle with Don James.

Speaker 8 (02:01:50):
There you go, speaking of which, when Jim was a
coach at UCLA and I went and spoke and worked
with their quarterbacks and nol Mazoni. They were loud, they
had drones flying over, music pumped all the time to
create the distraction. And everybody's doing it now for the
most part, and it's a good thing.

Speaker 9 (02:02:05):
Man.

Speaker 8 (02:02:05):
It just forces you to got to dial in read
lips when a quarterback's talking all that craziness. But thirty
years ago, dude to say we're gonna play, we're gonna
jam during practice, coaches would have looked like you, like
you're an unfocused bear. Bryan up there in the tower
with a run it again exactly, and they didn't want
to say run it again too many times and they
get pissed.

Speaker 2 (02:02:25):
Yeah on the ball, yep, either of those things. And
then one you don't want to hear as a player
is get them going, yeah, because that means the whistle
is going to start blowing and your chest is gonna
be hitting the turf and coming back up. Okay, coach
them after let's go tempo, that no doubt, so remember
them all. All right, nine o'clock hour is here. That
means our good buddy Chris Gordy in for the hour.

Speaker 8 (02:02:46):
A lot of scared. I think Gordy scared now he's not.
I think he's scared of making predictions. Now you and
him are scared. You don't want any part of the
of the Pac twelve. Well that's right, we don't have
Pack twelve.

Speaker 2 (02:02:56):
That's the third one on the pack two or however
many they got in there now two, Well we added
a few, yeah, I say, now basically the Mountain West.
We'll talk about it here. It is a Sean Salisbury
show on Thursday Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 8 (02:03:07):
I man, it's not even a new obsession, it's an obsession.
So yesterday I go home because I'd cut up some sausages.
I get home and I get the chips out, and
you know, the scoops, and I get the dip out,
and I'm in my refrigerator. I pull out well French
onion and ranch, and I also have the sausage I
cut up and some cheese that were cut up as well.

Speaker 3 (02:03:26):
Well.

Speaker 2 (02:03:27):
Guess what. Guess what?

Speaker 8 (02:03:27):
That was a daisy French onion dip. You don't have
to tell me a new obsession. Hell, I'm obsessed even
before I was doing this. So for me one of
the guilty pleasures during football season, a really year round.
For me, football is just the added Oh got to
do it. And I started yesterday as my pregame, already
before Saturday. Chips, wings, veggies, all that while watching the
big game. And you've got your french, your daisy French

(02:03:50):
onion dip along with that daisy ranch dip. Listen, delicious
daisy French onion dip and with that ranch dip. They're
just like homemade dip, right but better. It's already you
don't have to mess with it at home. You got
all the same ingredients, spices and herbs you'd get if
you were making it home.

Speaker 2 (02:04:06):
But done for you.

Speaker 8 (02:04:07):
Pop that in refrigerator, get it out and dip away.
Listen when you do it, I'm gonna suggest get out
there and get it done. Pop it open and get
yourself ready because by the time you get to the
main course, hell, I might be full anyway. Why because
of this, I'm a big chip dip carrot all that
in and it all starts with Daisy French onion dip.
That's Daisy French onion dip and Daisy ranch dip. And

(02:04:28):
you know where you get it at your local grocery store.
I'll beat you to it, don't wait. Daisy French onion dip.

Speaker 4 (02:04:35):
KDM Houston, KTVZHD two Houston an I Heart Radio station.

Speaker 2 (02:04:39):
Yes, that's a Rocket.

Speaker 4 (02:04:44):
Sports Talk seven ninety your home for your home teams
from the Parsons that match it.

Speaker 2 (02:04:50):

Just text this nationwide Keyword Festival to two hundred two hundred.

Speaker 4 (02:05:05):
You look at a confirmation text and info standard TATA
and message rates applying this nation White Contest.

Speaker 2 (02:05:09):
Text Festival to two hundred two hundred Saulsbury old very
sury House did. Okay, let's do this. Sewan Salisbury.

Speaker 3 (02:05:24):
To Usc Troves, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 4 (02:05:27):
Dan Matthews. Ecuse jesus, this is the Sean Salisbury Show
talking a little bit of Strows.

Speaker 2 (02:05:37):
Because they won last night for nothing, I'm gonna go
for a series win this afternoon. We'll get in a
little bit of Joe Mixon to Nick Assio, non committal
about him playing this season after he's gonna miss the
first four weeks. And then, of course college football. As
I mentioned, you have aged hosting Steven F. Austin to
get the season started tonight and you can listen to
it over on KPRC nine to fifty. I know we're
gonna be majority college football in this hour, but you

(02:06:00):
know the other two things I mentioned, We can get
into a little bit of that here in the early going.
Jordan Alvarez last night, I'm sure you saw my tweet
where I said the deep flyout, Yeah, the strength might
not quite be there yet. He proved me wrong pretty
quickly of going dead central. Yeah, I had a bet
with a friend. He said, uh, he said two over
under two and a half games for back.

Speaker 14 (02:06:21):
For Jordan to hit a home run, I said, under
he took the over so I hit, so I probably
would have been your buddy.

Speaker 2 (02:06:28):
Yeah, it uh, I just I just had a feeling.

Speaker 14 (02:06:30):
I mean, he was feeling good in Corpus and I mean,
shoot now, I mean the afternoon game today, does he
get the bonds treatment?

Speaker 2 (02:06:40):
They walk him every every bat? I mean it's like,
why would you pitch that guy?

Speaker 9 (02:06:44):
What?

Speaker 8 (02:06:45):
But yeah, why would you? Honestly, why would you? I
mean the rest of my situational bases loaded. Like I said,
bases loaded. You're down to run a guy and you
have to pitch to him.

Speaker 2 (02:06:57):
Yeah, two outs and he's up. Yeah, of course you
take your base. That's right.

Speaker 8 (02:07:01):
But I just to me, I don't understand, especially on
a team that's been inconsistent with the bats, I would
I'm not somebody else is beating me and it's gonna
be well.

Speaker 2 (02:07:09):
Correct.

Speaker 14 (02:07:10):
I like what they did yesterday and moving them up
great night before with Christian Walker behind him, he's just
been too inconsistent that gosh, you gotta have somebody who
can deliver. I know it was an overnight for Korea,
but at least he's been hitting. I mean, he yeah,
what like a ten game or eleven game hit streak going.

Speaker 2 (02:07:26):
So the twines back or something on that swing. Yeah,
I hope not. He's had a history at back stuff.

Speaker 14 (02:07:32):
But yeah, I mean he's still Korea is still batting
three thirty three, so you know, again, I like that construction,
and you get a little something from Jesus Sanchez as
of l A too, so that's good to see as well.
So I'm I like that lineup. Now, again, there was
no Altuve in there, so I don't know how you
construct that. But the Peina Alvarez, Korea Sanchez, I kind

(02:07:53):
of like that.

Speaker 2 (02:07:53):
Oh for ten in his last ten at bats for
l Twove, I mean he's streaky. I mean, then he'll
come back and have hitting five straight games. So that's
probably the idea behind that is give him the day off,
get him into the getaway day, and then see if
he can get it going again. Yeah, I mean, and
then Joe Spotted got a day off too.

Speaker 8 (02:08:11):
To me, yeah, the whole thing here was I don't
think he looks at that way, but your point, sure,
you from are getting control back and command of the plate.

Speaker 2 (02:08:20):
Even though that was the biggest sement.

Speaker 14 (02:08:22):
You know what I mean that that was huge and
we had I was all in Matt yesterday with Brian
bogusvin Gone, and I said, I said, Brian, that's this
is a massive start for Fromber just from a standpoint
of he has been so bad in the month of
August and coming up the hills a Hunter Brown not
good and it's like, God, you just need you need
some kind of confidence. Because Bugus Evic said it, He's like,

(02:08:45):
if this team's going to go anywhere in the postseason,
it's got to be that one two punch of Hunter.

Speaker 8 (02:08:49):
Brows, no doubt. If they're average, they got no shot. Yeah,
they just don't. I guess you could say that about everybody,
but you'd at least have a bigger chance of your
mashing most of the year, and the inconsistency of the
plate says you might get a good when you might not.
But you're hoping that if you face a guy like
Schooble in the playoffs, then you're or Crochet, you're your
host because they're going to keep the score low as well.
So you got him most of the time. So yeah,

(02:09:11):
those two guys, and Brian's one hundred percent correct. If
they don't pitch. Well, it's it's it's kind of hard
to get through regardless of what's your third guy, guys Jason, Alexander.
You've got to get those guys dominating performance. And last
night looked like fromber the player were used to seeing.

Speaker 2 (02:09:24):
And Dana mentioned with you yesterday when he was on
with us that this team is built for the postseason.
I'm sure a lot of people out there are like, Okay,
you got to start hitting. I mean, we're twenty nine
games left to go, Gordy. I understand what Dana has said,
and we've seen it in spurts, but we haven't seen
it consistently. They're only twenty nine God, yeah, I mean so,
I mean, it's it's it's a it's a handful of

(02:09:44):
games left. I mean, it's kind of like what me
and you talked about yesterday, Sean. I mean, if then,
then when are you gonna do it? Because I haven't
seen any semblance of hope that it is going to
be something you can count on.

Speaker 8 (02:09:57):
Listen, Gordy, I don't know if you feel the same
way you do, but let who you starting in the opener?
If it was if you had to win it, who starts.

Speaker 2 (02:10:05):
In the postseason. Yeah, it's a deciding game. I think
you still feel good about Hunter Brown. Wouldn't you start
him first?

Speaker 14 (02:10:11):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (02:10:11):
I thought you were going to be more definitive with that,
because I'm definitive with it. You damn right, it's Hunter Brown.

Speaker 7 (02:10:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (02:10:16):
To me, I don't even think it's a question yet.
Fromber could go on one of those runs. We've seen it.

Speaker 2 (02:10:20):
He's a streaky pitcher where he goes and wins his
last four or five starts. What do we got twenty
nine games ago. He got the start.

Speaker 8 (02:10:26):
Yesterday, so you say five to six starts from yesterday,
So now down to five, four or five starts, depending
on where they are.

Speaker 2 (02:10:34):
Yeah, because that's the thing over these last couple starts.

Speaker 14 (02:10:36):
What if Farmer goes seven seven shot out innings three
to seven innings of one run ball and seven shot
out innings and Hodter Brown is five earned runs, I mean,
I'm gonna go with the hot hand.

Speaker 8 (02:10:46):
That's exactly right. See for me, I think right now
i'd say Hunter Brown. But if Frober goes on this
role because he keeps the ball in the ballpark, how
would you say, as much as it drives us crazy
and it's maddening at times that if he goes on
that role leading into it.

Speaker 2 (02:10:59):
Guess what you saying. Look at frommers June. Yeah, and
he already of one seventy four he was, I mean
every time out it was he like he was as
good as there was in baseball in the month of June. See,
there's gonna be that cheese too. And we'll talk about
it here on the other side because I I you
mentioned trying to happen, right, you mentioning that really makes me,

(02:11:20):
you know, take a guess of what's coming next. So
we'll talk about it again. Like I said, Gordy in
with us courtesy at Carbok Brewing for the entire nine
o'clock hour as we continue here Sean Salisbury Show on
a Thursday Sports Talk seven ninety But Sean, I mean
we talked with you a couple of hours ago about lunch.
It's coming up. Well, guess what I mean. You're in
the office now, and like we said, this is basically

(02:11:41):
Friday for people. You're already thinking about, Hey, there's lunch.
Maybe a couple of pops involved in there. Boy, if
there was a place that had great brisket julapeno cheddar, sausage,
everything else. That's amazing, plus a full service bar and
beer garden.

Speaker 8 (02:11:55):
Yeah, and it's supposed to and lo and behold, isn't
it supposed to cool off a little bit too?

Speaker 2 (02:11:59):
That's the How cool would that?

Speaker 8 (02:12:01):
That's a Saturday night or Saturday morning special or evening special? Right,
great place with the facility, listen, is awesome, but don't
you get caught up in oh man, what a great building, well,
what a great place to park, and they have that
and great customer service. But if you walk through there
and it's all of a sudden, give me that brisket
and it tastes like trash or it's just average barbecue
in this state. Nah, But when it's off the charts,

(02:12:22):
next level not just barbecue, brisket or chicken, but the
side's hit right everything in their hip right Listen. We're
pretty transparent and honest man. And about this, well, you're
speaking on behalf, but I can tell you I'd call
them up and say you listen, I want to read
you on that. No reduce, The only redo you want
is more more of it. You'll never leave there hungry.
I think jaybar and Barbecue is the best barbecue in

(02:12:43):
the state. And I love the fact they don't have
to make reservations. You walk through, load it up, put
it on your platter, and get to go. First time
I had it was off the charts and realize there
will be a second, third, fourth, and four hundred time.

Speaker 2 (02:12:53):
And this is a good weekend to start. When it
comes to text or when it comes to barbecue intext
mex but in this case barbecue, there's two groups of people.
There's frauds and there's legitimate Jbarm's hard to find it
in between.

Speaker 8 (02:13:04):
And you know who the winners are, Jay, And it's
been recognized as one of the top barbecue plays in
the state. And way do you get a load of them?
For about another year, the competition will be left behind.

Speaker 2 (02:13:15):
Jbr M. It is the brainschild of mister John Toomey
and a rash is back there in the pit room.
You got Hoffey out in the front making sure that
you're enjoying your experience, the food, the drink, the ambiance,
everything that are inside JBARM and outside there in the
beer garden. It is going to meet the expectations. JBARM
Barbecue twenty two, one one Leland Street, jbar M Barbecue

(02:13:36):
right there in Ito. Hey, this is Charles Barker. When
you guys thought I put on some way since my
playing days, you shall see Sean Solisborough horble. Now back
to the Sean Solisborough show. What a knucklehead. Yeah, sorry, dad.
And my sister was better than all of us.

Speaker 8 (02:13:56):
She was the oldest, but I said, he she's better
at all you boys are doing this, stuffy dad, you
give me a basketball and a baseball and football.

Speaker 2 (02:14:02):
Let's go do this. I was gonna say, yeah, you know,
you just you just weren't being But you learn the
hard way.

Speaker 8 (02:14:08):
You know what you learn when you grow up in
that family, like that construction blue collar fight, You learn
awfully quick how your dad says you want to do
what I do and you're like, nope, Well do you
want to wake up at five o'clock in the morning
to do what you got to do and put roofs
on and build homes and do construction. Then get your
ass to school and make sure you're getting things done
in sports.

Speaker 2 (02:14:24):
That's that's the old school. Because I'm reminded of at
Oseron's story about when he left LSU and his dad said,
all right, you're coming to dig ditches with me. That's
what you're coming to do. And then so quickly get
back to school. And it's when when Mickey, when Mickey
Mantle wanted to quit baseball, his dad came up there,
and he's thinking, his dad's gonna you know, hey, it's
all right. You gave it a shot. His dad came
up there and said, go ahead, pack your stuff up,

(02:14:46):
let's go. You're gonna come back and work the mines
with me. So then he quickly realized, oh, being a
big shot in New York City or working the mines
there in rural Oklahoma. I guess I know what I want.
I actually think Mickey Mantle made the right decision. I
think you do. He made some other mistakes, but you
know who's perfect. There you go, there you go. But
Stro's gonna be taking on the Rockies close out the
series this afternoon. Noon Astros on deck coming your way.

(02:15:09):
They're trying to win that series. Texans make their roster
cuts a couple of days. Agoes practice squad. Sign college
football going to start tonight. Get into some college football
here coming up. But I do want to get into
the cheese because you guys talked about it of this
is the run for fromber now where we start to
see six, six, seven innings of him on the mound
and able to be the dominant Frommer that we saw

(02:15:32):
in twenty twenty two. Because then you know what captains
next astros. Twitter starts firing up. Pay the man, give
the man the money, do all of that. I hated
that with Kyle Tucker and all.

Speaker 14 (02:15:43):
It's like the guy goes six nights without a hit
and then that seven night he hits a home run
and everybody goes pay the man.

Speaker 2 (02:15:49):
I'm like, yo, we're doing it the last five nights.
It's just so funny how that hit a Grand Slam
in the World Series. That's got to count for something,
you hold on.

Speaker 14 (02:15:57):
People do that all the time. It's like guy goes
through straight knights of nothing that he hit.

Speaker 8 (02:16:03):
Yeah, the night before he just took the golden sombrero
and comes back the next time last night. Right, I
can tell you who's not paying attention to pay the
man stuff that he's doing it. The way that the
model's built is a man who owns the team. Okay,
here's how we're gonna do it. We're gonna do it
this way, and it's been a great business model here.
And if Frober's from Fromber is not going to be
pitching here next year, well, and that's the thing, if

(02:16:25):
he prices himself out right, is that a possible exactly
what we're talking about, because there's no perfect pitcher, there's
no perfect player.

Speaker 2 (02:16:31):
I get all of that. It's just the Dow Jones
effect with Fromber that I can't give him five or
six years. I cannot do it. Somebody's going to as
you well know. But for five, five or six years,
what would it.

Speaker 8 (02:16:44):
Be going right, twenty eight to thirty million somewhere as
a premium left hand or two.

Speaker 2 (02:16:48):
It's like, what did Max Free just get something like that?
Thirty for six, thirty for five.

Speaker 1 (02:16:53):
Uh.

Speaker 8 (02:16:54):
If that's the case, if that's the price tag, it's
not gonna be here. I mean, I'm not Dana Brown
and I'm not Jim Crane. I'm just going by recent
history since I've lived here. And that's okay. And the
only and listen, you always got to say, well, is
the money better than the what we're going to get
out of the next six or seven years? And there
may come a time when some guy gets an eight
year contract. It's a player here, that's that's outlandish money.

(02:17:16):
Maybe it'll be paying you, who knows, But especially when
it's the dow Jones part of it, the up and down,
it's like, I'm just not sure. Now they took the
risk of keeping him here and that through the trade
day lie.

Speaker 14 (02:17:29):
The fact that he's here, the fact he's here on
his last deal, tells you he is not going to
be here, right, I mean, that's no doubt. Every god
the Astros have signed, they've signed before. It's gotten to
that that.

Speaker 8 (02:17:39):
Last year it's almost a listen, put it this way,
it's the outlier would be if he's here, not the norm.
The norm is going to be he's going to be
pitching as a left hander opening day for somebody else
next year more than likely.

Speaker 14 (02:17:52):
Yeah, last year was the year to get an extension. Yes,
the fact they didn't tell you this is last year,
but enjoying well, you can't. Look, if we can make
one more run and when another World Series with this group, let's.

Speaker 1 (02:18:03):
Go for it.

Speaker 2 (02:18:04):
Absolutely. And that's the thing too, is you know, Gordy,
we had this discussion earlier about how exactly did you
you know, set it up about the former and the latter.
Is it more about the pitching than Gordy?

Speaker 8 (02:18:16):
I said, Okay, if you were to choose the traits
or the identity of the team this year, would you
say when the pitching for the most part, When if
somebody comes here says okay, describe to me what the
astros are, would you say, oh, great pitching? Would that outweigh?
You know, we say great, you're starting and bullpen together.
They've had a really good season for the most part, right,

(02:18:38):
Or would you say inconsistent, maddening consistency or inconsistently with
the hitting? To me, it's the second one. Yeah, I
think it sticks out more than the pitching does. Agreed,
but positive or the negative.

Speaker 14 (02:18:54):
But I also feel like you're on the cusp of
getting Jig Myers back, by the way, he went one
for four last night and his minor leaks art, so
he is on the cost of coming back. I feel
like that narrative will shift a little bit when you
get him back. With your on back Korea added Sanchez
added again, we'll keep a look at Christian Walking growing
Walker going. Hey man, anytime you want to turn on

(02:19:15):
turn on Yan air Dia, same thing. Al Tuvey. I mean,
I think that narrative shifts because we start to go
this is the best iteration of your lineup right now
then has been all season?

Speaker 2 (02:19:28):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 7 (02:19:28):
Right?

Speaker 8 (02:19:29):
So, if you went on MLB New, we're gonna say,
what's your insight? But you don't get you don't get
to anticipate when Myers is gonna be. As we sit today,
what side would you have taken? The inconsistent hitting outweighs
the pitching as far as the overall national narrative of
this team, what would you say?

Speaker 14 (02:19:43):
I mean, I gotta say I'll lean the pitching just
because they're seventy three and sixty like they're they're they're not.

Speaker 8 (02:19:50):
You think they've overachieved. They've they've overachieved more than the
hittings under achieved.

Speaker 14 (02:19:54):
Yeah, I'd probably say that. Yeah, because it was funny
reading people on social media last night. One goes like
this team sucks, and all one guy goes, yeah, man,
it sucks to be thirteen games above five hundred, Like
we need to take a step back and appreciate what
you're seeing, what we have, because you know what could
happen in five years. This team could be sub five hundred.
It could be half empty ballpark, like enjoy the good

(02:20:16):
times while you're in them.

Speaker 8 (02:20:17):
They just like picture of the Saint Louis Cardinals ballpark,
Joe Buck posted, it's empty, and that's Saint Louis. He said,
I ain't at this time. You rarely see it like that.
And even when they're not out of it, the fans
still show up there. They're they're they're they're tired of it.

Speaker 14 (02:20:30):
And I said, we're gonna have to have Hello Kiddy
night every night, like the night every night to get dollar.

Speaker 2 (02:20:34):
Dog Knight for seven for just seven weeks in a row,
three beer. We actually mean it, Torow. We're not shutting
the bar off in the seventh n We're keep this
thing going.

Speaker 11 (02:20:43):
Guy.

Speaker 8 (02:20:43):
But you know what Gordy with that, Like I said,
we had called Roger, who's one of our great callers.
Still the frustration of of you know, wanting to see more,
and as I told Dan earlier, is that are we
really going to bitch and complain about it? For all
of us about a uh started going seven innings, who's
been kicking it around a little bit and you're getting
a couple of home runs late to secure victory and

(02:21:03):
you win four to nothing. Shut him out at home,
even though it's Colorado. Uh, while I was frustrated Monday,
I'm going by the last one and I'm not shaking
a stick or pissed at a four to zero win.

Speaker 2 (02:21:12):
Right now. We'll rejudge him today after the game goes on.
Your race is on the mount.

Speaker 14 (02:21:17):
Yes, Jason Alexander four starts this month in the area
of one fifty four. Guys, he's your best picture right now.
The stop right now, he is your best picture now.
I could change her quickly this afternoon over.

Speaker 2 (02:21:27):
Under six and a third under, because I mean, he's
never gone above six, he's gone six to six.

Speaker 8 (02:21:32):
But it's Colorado. But then again, I say it's Colorado
and they won six to one. They still outscored you
in the series, is what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (02:21:40):
Well, but the good news is the guy going for
them today, Kyle Freeland an e R below six.

Speaker 8 (02:21:44):
So maybe you have a chance. Maybe, so you would
say six and out. That doesn't get into the seventh inning, right,
that'd probably take you on. That's fair, and they probably
even by plan.

Speaker 2 (02:21:55):
But is that crazy?

Speaker 14 (02:21:56):
A guy that was in Oakland a a few weeks
ago like this guy went and gotten. He has been awesome.
I interviewed him on our pregame show last week and
good yeah, oh good dude. And even he's like a
little bit amazed by I'm sure he is. I said,
I had to be a shot in arm to go
from a bad team to a team like this. He goes, Oh, man,
he goes, you're you ain't kidding. Yeah, you get here

(02:22:17):
around al and all these guys.

Speaker 8 (02:22:18):
Yeah, you can hear the conversation with the people in
the left field while you're behind home plates. Hey, hey
you do you don't need a cell phone to reach them. Yeah, yeah, hey,
you can move over if you want. That seats better
over there. All right, let's get in a little bit
of college football here. Yeah, we got Gordy. Yeah, I
think you guys are scared. Man, No, he might be
a little scared. Now now we're ready to go, Freddy
your you're gonna give me like fifteen teams that can

(02:22:39):
win the national title right now, there's no him and
in Han you're not going to ins direct to the
point you get a hammer hall.

Speaker 2 (02:22:44):
No, neither one state to win it all. I'll tell
you that, we'll cover it all soup to nuts sewn
Salisbury sports thoughts.

Speaker 8 (02:22:53):
Yeah, but I got some what I'm not I don't
put nuts in my French onion dip, my daisy French
onion dep I ain't doing that now.

Speaker 2 (02:22:59):
Maybe a little hot South on the side, mixed in
with some chips and dips. I'm a dipper.

Speaker 8 (02:23:04):
I dip pizza and stuff and I love chips and
take the cheese to dip it in some of the
sour cream. When to sour cream. But I'm talking now
about daisy ranch dip. Daisy French onion dip off the charts.
I've been at dipper forever. The problem is I do
so much of it with the Daisy French onion dip.
By the time I get to the main course, I'm

(02:23:25):
already full because I've hit chip after chip after chip
and dipped it in the Daisy French onion dip or
the Daisy ranch tip. You can do the same as
football season. See, I don't need football season to be
a reason for me to just eat the hell out
of Daisy French onion dip. If you do, that's okay,
But once you do, you realize, well, this isn't just
a season it is a year round. It's just football,

(02:23:46):
so it adds to it. So when you get in
your spread, Daisy French onion is where I go and
have for a long time. Just get to talk about
it now even more delicious homemade dip. And they're made
with herbs.

Speaker 2 (02:23:56):
And spices and other ingredients you'd find in your own kitchen.

Speaker 8 (02:24:00):
Nothing outland is. He's like, ugh, this is the very
best French onion dip. It's daisy French onion dip, and
I like to mix in the daisy ranch side by side.
So I am double fisted rolling with my chips and
dipping everything in sight and the Daisy French onion dip
and the daisy ranch dip. The big games are coming up.
It starts this weekend, but you really can do it
on a Wednesday Tuesday. It's just a nice excuse to

(02:24:22):
double dip with daisy French onion dip and daisy ranch tip.
Look for Daisy French onion dip at your grocery store
and at a grocery store near you for the Sean
Salisbury show continued.

Speaker 2 (02:24:37):
But I don't start yet.

Speaker 8 (02:24:39):
Ye who's the Okay, who's the who's the most famous
non football playing celebrity alum there Nicholas there, right, let's
say non football playing that football? Yeah, who is it?
I don't even know. I mean Nicholas will be at
the top of list. But who's like, is there a
country singer or a or a any kind of musician

(02:24:59):
or actor that's That's like when Kansas State does the
guy from h Well, I mean, I.

Speaker 2 (02:25:05):
Guess you could have said Steinbrenner or but they're no
longer with us. You're probably not gonna go jd Vance,
Nick Swisher, d White, Yoakum went to Ohio State. R L. Stein.

Speaker 9 (02:25:22):
No.

Speaker 2 (02:25:22):
So I guess so you're saying no to Goosebumps. Huh
so Jack Buck is deceased, So I guess, uh, I
guess uh, I guess Lebron's gonna be I was gonna say.
I mean, I think that you know you want star
power there, and I mean, if there's a camera rolling
in a live microphone and they invite him, Lebron's gonna
show up.

Speaker 8 (02:25:41):
Well, let me ask you what money is on Lebron.
Who was the first guy got something, who was the
first guy at league. I don't know if he's alive
or not. Who was the first guest picker at Ohio
State for when Lee Corso was there?

Speaker 2 (02:25:52):
Was it Chris Carter?

Speaker 8 (02:25:53):
I don't know whoever the first guest picker at Ohio
State was why not have him back? If he's alive
or her and and you know you started with it.
If they're still live and well and doing it, why
not in with it. Who was the first guest picker?
I mean it wasn't Ohio State, but I mean no,
I'm talking about the first time he went to Ohio State.
Oh Charles Barkley.

Speaker 2 (02:26:13):
He was the first one. That was two thousand and four.
I just looked that up.

Speaker 14 (02:26:16):
The very first celebrity guest picker was two thousand and
four Barkley when Tennessee was hosting Auburn. The weekly recurring
segment though didn't start until two thousand and nine with
the guest picker.

Speaker 8 (02:26:27):
Okay, so where was it? Who was the when he
went to because Ohio State his first. He's been to
Ohio State, I think more than any or he's picked
Ohio State more than any I think.

Speaker 2 (02:26:35):
Well, they've had the most appearance is sixty seven of them.

Speaker 8 (02:26:37):
So I'm wondering if the first, the first time he
went to Ohio State, who was the picker and see
if you really want star power? And by the way,
isn't ESPN broadcasting a bunch of aren't they part of
the other the other best studio show with Barkley and Shack,
He's the obvious choice. I don't want Barkley there more

(02:26:58):
than I want Lebron. Alex Bregman was was the celebrity
guest picker. There you go, I want Bregnan. I mean,
I want Barkley more than you know you're gonna get energy.
You know, he'll give Lee Corsol all the love Charles
will to me. It just seems logical. A guy who
was with him years ago. They're coming over in the NBA.
So there's some pub there and it's Charles, you know,
the Olfan and Charles loves football. Doesn't that seem like
the most obvious celebrity if you can't find somebody else.

Speaker 2 (02:27:20):
And Lebron's only done.

Speaker 14 (02:27:21):
It once, I'm looking at Ohio State. Yeah, Lebron was
the first. In two thousand and eight, Ohio State beat
Penn State. Lebron was the guest picker, So there you go.
It's a good call. I'm telling you it's it's gonna
be Lebron.

Speaker 2 (02:27:34):
They also had Santonio Holmes. I don't know if he's
relevant anymore. I think people were forgotten about that, you know,
tight rope catchup m VP, right, yeah, but still, I
mean that was like over what seventeen years ago.

Speaker 14 (02:27:44):
I met him at a Super Bowl party a couple
of years ago, and hey, you san Antonio, Like, he's
just walking around, nobody knew who he was.

Speaker 2 (02:27:51):
I'm like, this is a Super Bowl MVP, right, nobody cares.
That's classic, though, is it? And that's classic? I'm like
being an elected beat on radio Row this year and
what is it? Oh? The Stu Gotts No.

Speaker 14 (02:28:04):
Forty nine Ers Quarterbacks, bar Brock Party, Young Montana Montana.
Joe Montana is sitting right across from me being interviewed,
and nobody's paying attention because Shador Sanders is walking by
with his whole crew with him, and everybody's running to
follow him. And I was like, what does that say
about the state of that Joe Montana sitting right there
and no one.

Speaker 2 (02:28:24):
Gives it him, That Joe Montana. They're going to do
Joe Montagne. Okay, who do you want?

Speaker 8 (02:28:30):
More? At college games, Lebron James or Charles Barkley just
for the league corts the whole experience.

Speaker 2 (02:28:34):
Who do you want more? I mean I would probably
go Chuck because I know it's going to be entertaining,
but I mean it's not a connection, and Lebron's is
loose at best. But yeah, but because he was born
in Ohio, that's why we're doing it. And he's a
diehard Ohio well he says he is. I mean, how
many teams does lebrona come there? At some point in time?
He's war on Ohio State Jersey. I mean, he wears

(02:28:55):
everybody else's. It's just a death man. You don't want it,
so for me, I'd rather have Barkley.

Speaker 8 (02:28:59):
But it may sense with what you're saying an Ohio
guy and the rest, But to me, Barkley's been a
part of Lee Corso's life far longer. And if you
want entertainment and they're bringing the NBA pub hell, I
don't know, do you put two guest pickers on there?
Would you be willing to do that? Lebron's welcome it.
Charles and Lebron have had a.

Speaker 2 (02:29:17):
Say if there was gonna be a time that you
had multiples.

Speaker 8 (02:29:19):
This could be it, right, sure, but we'll see or
at least guess that come on and give an experience.
Maybe you have three or four that come on there
and give it back like I remember this storytelling. But
it'll be interesting. It's it's one of those guys, no doubt. Which,
by the way, to Drake, you know, talking about the curse.
He announced in September of twenty twenty three that he
was moving to Houston. Has anybody noticed what's not happened

(02:29:40):
around here since September of twenty twenty three? I mean
a championship he pushed you of h basketball. Doesn't he
have a bunch of big bunch of acreage going down
to nineties? I mean a big old spread out there.

Speaker 2 (02:29:53):
Yeah, I thought he did. Feel like he's just sitting
courtside at Rockets games every night. That's the point. We
don't have home played it as I'm good buddies with
Fred van vliet So. I mean probably a lot of
other people are. So what I'm clamoring for, Chuck, aren't.
Aren't you a Toronto Raptors fan?

Speaker 14 (02:30:10):
Leave us alone, man, I would bring him like Corso's
family or something, you know, make it make it a back.

Speaker 2 (02:30:15):
And I was, that's such a great point.

Speaker 8 (02:30:18):
Maybe you bring people on, like I say, to give
a you know, to say a few words, but when
it comes to it, isn't this all corso all the time?

Speaker 2 (02:30:25):
So sweetheart? Yeah, you don't want you don't want a
star that comes on there that gets more pub than
on his day. Maybe.

Speaker 8 (02:30:33):
I mean, you know who who should show up for
this and unfortunately he probably won't be able to because
he's calling a he's calling is having Fowler there? Yeah,
that would be cool too, make it work, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:30:46):
No doubt about it. I know they all have other
gigs they got to go to, but that that spring
from the other set. He's in the stadium. We know
Dave Port and I won't be there. All right, it's
a little bit more college football here as we've got
some predictions to make, boys and we're going to do that,
know him and in Halland like I said, Sean Salisbury

(02:31:06):
show Sports Talk seven to ninety all right.

Speaker 8 (02:31:08):
Guys, let's discuss doctor Jeff Witzitt in Vision. Okay, he's
been nothing but spectacular for me. I always say, when
I want to know it, first off, how in the
world would somebody who's never used lasik or never been
to the eye doctor for something important. How in the
world would they be able to speak on somebody? Talk

(02:31:30):
to the people who've used it. Doctor Witz has been
with me every step of the way for the last
seven or eight years. Every step he's been phenomenal. So
talk to and friends I've sent him the same way.
Talk to those people, not the one who Well, I'm
thinking about getting it done, but here, let me tell
you about this company. How about talking about somebody who's
been there, done it. I'm seeing better than I've seen
the last thirty years, and if there's anything that needs adjusted,

(02:31:50):
he's doing it. You have the best doctor right here.
You don't have to travel out of state to go
get the Lasik procedure. Guy that you want to get
it done right in eye care doctor. He's phenomenal.

Speaker 2 (02:31:59):
He'll walk you through it, take away your anxiety stress
because there always is when you're talking about your eyes.
But with the greatest equipment, with his great eye and
hands to make sure that you get treated the way
he'd treat his own kid's eyes.

Speaker 8 (02:32:11):
Isn't that a nice nice bonus we get? And then
the recovery's quick you're not on the table long, and
it's not invasive, all those things, plus you can work
out your payment plan. Get it done right with doctor
Jeff Witzett, because your eyes are important, as you well know,
and he's gonna make sure you understand just how comfortable
you can be.

Speaker 2 (02:32:29):
And that's a good thing. He's the best in the business,
and I'm grateful. I am a patient.

Speaker 8 (02:32:34):
It's seven one three three sixty five nine seven nine
seven one three three sixty five ninety seven ninety nine.

Speaker 2 (02:32:47):
This is the Sean Salisbury Show sales. That's beautiful well

(02:33:07):
pre cursor to Fight Song Friday. Here on the Sean
Salisbury Show, Big Jay return.

Speaker 8 (02:33:13):
Big Jay said, man, we gotta get fight song. Friday
tweeted us, and well, here it is. It's a teaser
on Thursday, but just to give you a load of
fright song Friday. Man, we love to do it and
it's a good way to start.

Speaker 2 (02:33:25):
Absolutely as we'll have college football tonight over on KPRC
nine fifty Koogs and Steven F. Austin taking on each other.
The astro is going to be here on your radio station.
Astros on deck coming up here in a couple of
hours as the Stros try to go for the series
win over the Rockies. Prediction time. Boys, we've been gearing
these up, getting ready for the season, Sean, you had

(02:33:47):
told me and GORDI, I know you've got yours prepared.
Final four Heisman, Coach of the year, biggest disappointment, biggest surprise.
Sounds good. So let's start with coach of the Coach
of the year. Yeah, you want me first? Sure, Brian Kelly.

(02:34:07):
They went on Saturday. This team will be no worse
than ten and two this year. Coach of the Year,
Brian Kelly, and I and I do think that they
get Alabama back this year at Alabama. Okay, so you
got Brian Kelly, so eleven and one that send you
to Atlanta, you win the SEC championship pretty much. If
you win the the SEC or the Big Ten, you're

(02:34:27):
probably coach of the year. Okay, Gordy, Coach of the Year,
I might.

Speaker 14 (02:34:32):
I'm gonna go with Sark. I think Texas ten and two.
I think, uh, I think I think Steve.

Speaker 8 (02:34:40):
Sark's reason why, I mean, are both of you guys
are picking teams that are national championship type teams, right, yeah,
I get mine. Okay, No, I'm just uh, do you
I guess the way to phrase it is, do you
guys give them do? We usually choose to coach of

(02:35:02):
the year by improving by a team or the best
team with the best players, best coach that one right there.

Speaker 2 (02:35:07):
So but you do battle it.

Speaker 8 (02:35:08):
Out why one or the other sarkes in for you guys,
and Brian kell I have my explanation about his hearing
a little bit.

Speaker 2 (02:35:13):
Let go, let it rip. Well, it's the biggest disappointment
because I think Texas loses no less than three games
this year. Loses three. I think I think they lose
to Oklahoma. I'm not so sure that they go to
Florida and win and A and M at the end
of the season.

Speaker 14 (02:35:30):
Marcus Freeman was Coach of the Year last year, and
then one of the other coaching awards went to Kurt Signetti, who,
by the way, didn't beat a ranked team all year,
yet coach of the Year in Indiana because he'd beat
up on high schools, but congress to him. So yeah,
so when you think about that, I mean, Marcus Freeman,
he is at the ground running at Notre Dame and
to have them where they are, so who can.

Speaker 2 (02:35:52):
Be that kind of guy?

Speaker 14 (02:35:53):
I just I feel like just the hype and the
build up of Texas, I get you think they're going
to take a step back, and it's a good argument. Well,
everything they lost, but I look at that defense. They
were one of the top scoring defenses until the final
week of the season last year.

Speaker 2 (02:36:07):
I think that defense is gonna be nasty. This is
going to pain me to say.

Speaker 8 (02:36:12):
And he's not my favorite coach and I don't think
they're winning the national championship, but I don't think we're
talking enough about him, and I think they got a
chance to make it to the final four. I'm gonna
go with James Franklin at Pennsville and I'm gonna tell
you that, dude.

Speaker 2 (02:36:36):
Me for me to believe.

Speaker 8 (02:36:37):
But the only reason I'm doing this and my other candidate,
because I think they can win the national championship is Dabosweeney.
I think Clemson has a chance to win the national
title and they played right, but they may.

Speaker 2 (02:36:51):
Too. So the only reason I say Franklin, I'm not
going to choose.

Speaker 8 (02:36:55):
I'm not going to take the same guys you guys did,
And I also don't think my defense at SC's. I'm
trying to take somebody that I wouldn't normally root for.
I had Dan Lanning for a new quarterback. I had
him in my second choice out or third choice behind
Dabo Sweeney. Listen the reason why that Penn State is
a national caliber team right now, national champion team. I'm

(02:37:17):
not as sold on the quarterback as everyone else's and
throughout it, I'm just not no. And I got to
see him do it and Muskan and I talked about
yesterday in huge games. I'm one hundred percent, but this
seems like a good flyer to take because we're not
talking about them that much. They're in a good conference.
I wouldn't choose him, and he wouldn't be my choice
as a coach, but I'm gonna take something different than you.
I'm going to say this is the year he does

(02:37:37):
win a big game. Nuss Buss is my heisman.

Speaker 2 (02:37:40):
Okay, how about you.

Speaker 14 (02:37:41):
I've been gleaning that way too. He's the only returning
four thousand yard passer in college football. They added more
weapons around him and Barryon Brown and Nick Anderson to
go with Chris Hilton and all the other pieces.

Speaker 2 (02:37:52):
I think Garrett Nusmart's got a great chance. I mean
Arch is up there too.

Speaker 8 (02:37:57):
Gimme kd Klubnick and nuss Meyer won. But on my
sneaky pick, like I said, if he's at Leonora, Sellers
at South Carolina, good one.

Speaker 2 (02:38:05):
Quick final four, Ohio State, LSU, Clemson, Georgia for me,
go ahead, Yeah, I'll go Ohio State, Ohio State, LSU.
God can Clemson get back there? I mean it's it's
crazy they can Lose'll get there. LS you can't. I'll
put them there and then probably like an Oregon.

Speaker 8 (02:38:24):
Jimmy Clemson, Ohio State, Texas, Clemson, Ohio State, Texas and LSU.

Speaker 2 (02:38:31):
There we go. We're feeling good about the Tigers and
you're gonna be able to hear them all season long.
Right here supports top seven.

Speaker 8 (02:38:37):
Veteran quarterbacks like Nesmeyer coming back, and they've had great
history of guys going into their last year at the
quarterback position that have taken him to a whole new
level and their game to a whole new level.

Speaker 2 (02:38:46):
Nesmeyer could be that guy. Two more that have done it.
He's sean triple Emmanuel Elmore, Chris Gordy hanging out with

we'll talk to you in twenty hours
