Nemo comes in, gets a basehit on second, no outs, and
they did not surrender that run.In the ninth, which would have put

you know, the winning run drivenin by Jake Myers, and then you
get some insurance. It just itwas a really impressive job by the Astros

the Mariners, I think, andthe Rangers are off abbreviated schedule for most
of Major League Baseball, but theyget a day game because they got four
against Toronto. This has been ahell of a role by them. Man.

a lot of people had left themfor dead and accept themselves. And ten
days ago they were ten games out. They are now three and a half
games out and don't look now,but I got news for you. The
pressure starts to fall squarely on theSeattle Mariners heading towards the second half of

done that. There's a team calledSeattle that has rarely been there and has

never done that, meaning the WorldSeries. So here we freaking go and

all that. But if you don'thave talent, you won't win sustained.

some talent, they get ridy,they'll win once in a while at a
grit and toughness, but they can'tsustain. You can't sustain winning without talented

years have been as talented as anyroster in baseball for the most part.
Yesterday was a bullpen game, surewas, and you find a way a
bullpen game, but you can't turnthose bullpen games into throwaway games. It

King, pitched an inning in twothirds, no hits, one walk,

one. K Seth Martinez came infor an inning. Uh, he got
roughed up a bit, three hits, two eur and run in just eighteen
pitches. Brian and Brave of course, gave up that game tying home run
Ryan Presley with a clean inning,and then we talked about Taylor Scott.
He comes in after the rain delay, two innings, one hit, one
run, one walk, twenty ninepitches and then Contreras came in to finish

the game. They win ten tofive. There's some good and there's some
there's some concern to this. Goodis the way they performed, And doesn't
the bullpen deserve You know, whenyou're in class and you're like in the
fourth grade and you get a starfor being a good student, finish in
your math before everybody else to putit on the board to simb me up
and give you, don't they deservesp I mean, I know the struggles

at the back end of the bullpenearly in the season, but in truth,
what you've expected from then, fromall the three or four guys that
you replaced, that we were workhorsesin this lineup that are no longer here.

to kill the guys in the bullpenif they keep having to pitch them.

i'd like to see baseball. AndI'm totally a traditionalist, but I'm changing

my mind about some of this stuff. Baseball needs to adopt a rule for
their pitchers the way hockey teams do, where you have a roster set,
but each game you have to declarethree or however many players not eligible to
play that day. And they shouldbe able to do that with the pitchers
without having to send a guy downto the miners and not being able to

bring him back for ten days becauseI don't know who they would send down
right now, who's gonna you know, who's gonna pitch? And think and
think about this, Ronnie. Youknow, with the rules, and I'm
with you, and sometimes it's thethey're even hard to follow how they change.
Think about this. You get aguy who's been grinding, who comes
up and down for you and givesyou innings, then they send him to
triple a and he comes up anddown for it gives you more important things,

finished two hours early because they shotsixty and they were the fifteen, they
were the first group off because ofa poor Saturday or what have you.
But with this it's not just thewarm up, it's the intensity of the
warm up, right, I wouldsay I would. I don't know what
the exact average is, but I'mI would assume twelve to fifteen pitches when

you go out there on the moundwhen you're pitching, like you come in
for two hours or three outs,fifteen maybe twenty maybe if you're a three
out guy, a one inning guy. If you're warming up the first time
and you feel it's about to go, you have to ramp up your intensity
to the point of you're not throwingat seventy percent. You're throwing it.
I would imagine ninety percent of youryour efficiency too, because you got to

You can't because if you didn't andyou walked out there and took your certain
warm up tosses, now you're puttingyourself in an injury mind, just like
you would if you're doing it twoand three times in the bullpen, and
especially if you're in a double barrelsituation where two guys are warming up and
then you get up again. Soit's the intensity of the throwing. So
in truth, if you throw twelveto fifteen high intense pitches to get into
a game, to stit the sweatand gets a little flow going and then

then you do go in and youthrow fifteen more pitches for them. Thirty
pitches is you're more than likely notpitching the next day, unless you are
one of those long relief guys.Right, And so I do get why
they do it. The intensity.Now, all of a sudden, they're
going good, and you're you knowhow they're taking their kroll hop to warm

up their first ten throws like anoutfielder. And then before you get on
there, oh, then you gotto speed up and go Now, I
get it. Sit down, andyou haven't even really got into your major
flow. And they go out thereand delay with the coaches, with the
manager's visit and all that stuff pitchingcoaches visit. But the ramping of intensity,
So in truth, you may bethrowing thirty pitches instead of your normal
twelve to seventeen or eighteen pitches.And I think that's a lot of what
