Following yesterday's afternoon game, the Texans emerge as huge victors over rookie Drake Maye and the New England Patriots down in Foxborough with a final of 41-21. Still without Nico Collins on the field this week but with the return of Joe Mixon back to the offense, the Texans looked phenomenal in most aspects of the game yesterday. From the offense having multiple possessions and scoring drives, to the defense creating and forcing turnovers both sides of the ball played effectively in contributing to the Patriots blowout loss at home. Now 5-1 and with the heat of the scheduling beginning to pick up as we enter Week 7, can the Texans sustain this run all the way to January to the postseason?

Joe just got back.

Speaker 5 (01:57):
This is what I've been wanting to see. Run evenly,
pass evenly, see how off set the Patriots were. Even Belichick,
I don't think would have been expecting that one. He'd
adjust the second half.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
We all know that.

Speaker 5 (02:11):
But yes, these are the dogs I want to see.
But you dogs better stay hungry because we going Midwest
next week and we're playing with a completely different vicious animal.
So uh, I look forward to next week, and I
can't wait till this line comes out, because, like I said,

Good morning, Joe, Hey, good morning.

Speaker 5 (03:05):
Hey.

Speaker 7 (03:05):
My buddy used to call it mad money. He called
me up one day and said, hey, Joe, call in
sick to work today. Uh, me and my old lady,
we're not talking, and I got some mad money put up.
We're gonna go day drink And I was like, what
the hell is mad money? And he said, that's money
put up. That is why I didn't know about. So
we ended up having a good time.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
I like to call it a hush hush, little hush hush.

Speaker 7 (03:30):
Now I was gonna ask, is this the best start
the Texans have had?

Speaker 5 (03:34):
And if not, what was.

Speaker 7 (03:37):
In the next five games? In the next five games,
how do you see the Texans doing? Considering playing some
good teams? And I'll hang up in this and.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Thanks, I appreciate Joe.

Speaker 6 (03:44):
Yeah, twenty twelve was there fastest start date? And tell
this one, what is uh? Who do they play? We
got Packers here, you know it's in Lambeau. We got
the Packers. What's their next five?

Speaker 1 (03:54):
Look like? I'll pull that up. I think they go
Packers in a couple of divisional games. Yeah, Packers at
the Packers, then home against the Colts, and then at
the Jets. One of those, I believe. So you've got Yeah,
it's a Thursday night game against the Jets, and what
about the other two? And then and then you you

(04:15):
welcome in the Lions Sunday night football, and then then
at the Cowboys.

Speaker 6 (04:21):
All right, So Packers, Jets, Jets, Lions, Cowboys and Bears.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
Oh my nice.

Speaker 6 (04:35):
Colts are tough even on the road because Flacco he
makes them better. Well, they're home, Oh they're home.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Oh that's right.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
They're at the Packers, then home against the Colts. I'm
at the Colts.

Speaker 6 (04:45):
Colts are coming here, right, So Joe Flackell in another building,
he won't be phased by it. Then the Jets in
New York tough on a Thursday night. Turned around after
the Colts. You may be getting a team that's turned
it around themselves. We're gonna have a look at them tonight.
And then you have Lions here.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
Ye, Sunday night football. Not easy.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
I consider them as good as there is in the NFC.
And what's the last one.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
At the Cowboys Cowboys? That's well, right.

Speaker 6 (05:13):
Now, it looks like an ass kick and the Cowboys
are gonna they're they're going to get issued to them
by the Texans. To me, it feels like they should
be favored in two and well, they'll be fair. They
they'll be favored against the Colts, and they'll be favored
against the Cowboys. They should be I'm not sure. I mean,
if it was here, depending on what goes on the
next couple of weeks. Against the Jets, they they I

(05:36):
don't know if they'll be favored in Lambell. That's gonna
be a close one. They're inside inside the field goal
right now, rine out. Yeah, Packers by three? There you go,
and uh, the Lions may be a road favorite two
and a half now. Actually Lions. Okay, sorry, and the
Lions were coming here. You said, yes, I wonder to pay.
I guess it'll it will depend on what goes on

(05:58):
the next few weeks. But today I would I would
think the Lions might even be a road favorite.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
In that game. I wouldn't be surpried. Probably two and
a half three.

Speaker 6 (06:06):
Oh yeah, under a field goal, because Texas are pretty
damn good. I'd be happy if we come out of
that three and three and two. I really would five
and one now, which would get you to eight and
three three.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
Yeah, it's not bad. I will take that. Yeah, I mean,
I know you want.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
Five and oh.

Speaker 6 (06:23):
Well, let's be realistic. The fact that they I don't
think they're going to be ten and one after the
next five games. Somebody gonna beat them. Yeah, but it
would be nice if you could pull off eight or
nine of those. Just stay that way and keep yourself
within in that position to the last month of the
season or the last six weeks. See, can go get
yourself home field advantage and played here.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
Yeah, that's that's the goals. Take a quick call before
we get to break. Stalk to Andy, Andy, good morning.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
Good morning.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
I say about slowik Is, even with college gone, he's
got to extend the field. I mean, how many times
last year do we show catching the ball twenty yards
pass the line of scrimmage. How many times we see
Dell do it? And this year, I mean, since Collins
has come in. Of course, it's a whole lot easier
to throw the six foot four guy down the field.

(07:12):
But you can't tell me that Collins and Davis can't
get open deep. And we've seen Chiltz get open deep.
They they've got to extend a field a little bit.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
So did you were you bothered by the game yesterday?

Speaker 2 (07:26):
No, of course not.

Speaker 4 (07:27):
You won forty one twenty one. You had all the
rushing yards, you had two big, huge rushing plays that
contributed to the yardage. Yet finally Hunter actually got to
a quarterback and hit a quarterback. That was kind of
nice to see. And Anderson's well, he had a hell
of a game. And how about that. I think Bullet
played great.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
He did.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
I was watching him a lot on defense. That guy
was all over the field for a rookie and stepping
in because Ward was hurt. I was nice to see
his play. But hey, I don't y'all said it this morning,
but I guess who's coming back next week?

Speaker 1 (08:04):
Denko Autry.

Speaker 4 (08:07):
And let me tell you something, Maria or Edwards and a.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
Fata Mario Edwards, well know I know Edwards. What's the
other name, whatever his name is.

Speaker 4 (08:20):
Yeah, now add now add Autry and then whenever you're
gonna spell Hunter or Anderson put a defensive end, I
mean that defense automatically gets better with him coming back
next week and he's fresh, yep. I mean that he's
a real good player, a fresh, real good player come

(08:40):
in the seventh week. That defense gets gets gets elevated easily.
The pass rush helps the secondary out so and they're
gonna need it because uh love. It looks like he's
back on you know, back on his rhythm like he
finished last year.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
And he thanks brother, appreciate you, brother, thank you. Good call.
I Autrey gives you some more versatility too. You can
move him around. See the sacks.

Speaker 6 (09:10):
I think dan Neil Hunters played good football so far.
He's pressured they, like I said, their pressure rate is up,
but he elevated and will and Anderson was spectacular yesterday.
I think the vertical What I like about it is
they're winning without having to throw for three fifty and
four hundred yards, and the vertical passing game will have
to come into play. And he's right, you're not gonna

(09:30):
play horizontal football and win.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
Look at the Raiders.

Speaker 6 (09:32):
They've been playing a bunch of horizontal football and can't win,
and they lost again yesterday. Teams that play that way.
If Drew Brees isn't the guy thrown with accuracy, it's
tough to play. You got to take shots, and they'll
take them. They will take shots. Impressed with the running game,
Impressed with the movement of the line of Scrimmage and Bullock.
You would think the way the Bullock plays that SC's
defense was off the charts. The parts were better than

(09:54):
the sum trust me, when he was there and still
but he is flying around. I'll tell you what he's
been in packful rookie, hasn't he? They got one there, yeah,
man alive. They've got some players now, and that defense
is gonna elevate. People always ask me, would you rather
have two good corners or a great front seven? Give
me the front seven, first corner second, Yeah, Because I

(10:14):
can tell you this, no matter how good you are
in the secondary, if the quarterback's got three and a
half seconds to throw, he's gonna kill you two. The
opposite is true. You can give me even at their
average and their corners are not average. But if they
were and you had a front seven that was miserable
to deal with, like Philadelphia two years ago when they
had seventy sacks, you know, I got news for you
that makes your secondary a lot better. So give me
that push in the interior and give me that front

(10:36):
seven to dominate. I always believe in building defenses, and
quite frankly, football teams inside out, not outside in.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
Yeah, seven one, three, two, two, five, seven ninety. Alex
will get to you next. Let's take a look at
the AFC South Texans, the clear front runner. Everybody else
is yeah, just okay. What's going on in Tennessee? Got
some issues down there as well. We'll discuss it next
on sports Stock seven to eighty
