(00:26):

Salisbury Show here on Sports Talk sevennine. You can also listen to us
on the free iHeartRadio app. SeanSalisbury, Brian Lalima, Emmanuel Elmore here
with you this morning. The Rocketslose to the Mavericks. Mark Cuban selling
a steak of the Mavericks. Alsogoing to be leaving Shark Tank in twenty

(00:51):
twenty five. It's going on withMark Cuban. Bobby Petrino agreed to be
the next Arkansas offensive coordinator. Heis leaving Texas. A and M.
David Tepper, the owner of thePanthers, speaking on firing of Frank Reich
and drafting Bryce Young. CJ.Stroud also in that mix. A lot
to get into. Got the collegefootball playoff rings. They were updated,

(01:11):
a lot of talk about some ofthose rankings. Why is Oregon above Texas?
Why is Ohio State above Texas andAlabama. A lot to dig into
this morning. Sean Triple Lee,Good morning, fellas. David Tepper had
some interesting things to say Sean yesterdayand is a little press conference talking about
c J. Stroud, the quarterbackfor the Texans. Yeah, he's a
different owner. Now, he's notexactly the most patient guy. But yeah,

(01:38):
I don't know if you I'm anxiousto hear this again. But then
I read about it. But yougot your own guy that they say that
they're sticking with. So if theypick first in the draft, they're going
to pass on it. Just stickwith Bryce Young. Excuse me, And
I get it. Eleven games isn'tenough to judge a coach, and it's
not enough to judge a player. But they did judge the coach on eleven

(02:00):
and a few others moved on.And I think it simply comes down to
two things. One is looking atthe success of c J. Stroud.
They're wondering why they're not having thatwith Bryce Young. CJ. Stroud's success
is a big reason why Frank Reich'sfired. I'm just telling you now so
I can guarantee that as I'm sittinghere, But you know, damn will.
He's looking across saying, well, why are they having success? Because

(02:21):
look, we fired McCown do Staleyboth offensive coaches, and Frank Reich,
another offensive coach, as the headcoach and play caller. So for me,
that's one reason, and two isI think they felt they were going
the opposite way. I don't thinkthey felt like improvement was made in eleven
games. And they may be right, but David Tepper reserves that right as

(02:42):
a billionaire owner, he can makeany decision he wants. But where there
is no continuity, there is nosuccess. So at some point in time,
Dave Tepper is going to have togoing to have to patient up and
let it happen. And it didn'thappen here, and the next one is
going to be saddled with a toughtask. Is they even with the first

(03:04):
pick of the draft, they're notdrafting a quarterback according basically to that According
to them, I can assure youthat one player is not going to turn
Carolina into a great team. Thereare four players away from being four players
away. But it'll help. Yougot to build it sometime and at some
point in time, I think BryceYoung will be a good player. I
don't think Bryce Young's ever going tobe able to carry a franchise on his

(03:25):
back, but I don't think anyof us thought that anyway fits into a
team. Bryce Young needs good playersaround him. Now you say, well,
who doesn't, of course, butsome people can play better football even
when they don't have great players around. Bryce Young is going to need.
Well. The guy we got here, I think he can take a more
an average offense and make it andmake it a playoff team, where Bryce

(03:47):
Young I think needs a good offensepersonnel around him. So I expect both
of them to be good. ButCJ. Stroud's success has a lot to
do with Carolina's moving on from theircoach during this season because they don't understand
I'm telling you why that was goodand not similar rosters were supposed to pick
late, or supposed to pick earlyin the draft again or at least get

(04:10):
that pick. And who who's gottheir pick this year that early? Whoever
they traded up, I can't rememberwho they tried. The Bear, the
Bears, I believe, so yeah, Bears had the number one pick.
I'm talking about when if the Texansare the Texans next year, they they
traded their pick for to move upfor first uh Will Anderson, and they

(04:33):
went from I don't even know whothey traded it to. I can't even
remember off the top of my head. I got so much Cardinal There you
go. So the Arizona Cardinals aregoing to get their pick. So the
point is is that when you lookaround and you're saying, well, what's
the difference? That too one wasdrafted higher? He should be making progress?
Why aren't we? They have similarplayers? That's this is a better

(04:57):
roster than theirs is in Carolina, and this is better quarterback right now than
theirs is. So I get whyDave Tepper is impatient, But I also
know that eleven games is hard tojudge anything by. And I don't know
what he expected going in. Didyou think you're gonna win nine games?
Not a good division? But they'renot a good team by any stretch,
and they they probably got to startto look at how you're going to get
big and protect that quarterback from takingall these friggin hits he takes, meaning

(05:18):
Bryce Young. So what do youthink it was? I mean, obviously
I know the success of c.J. Stroud, but Frank whit Wright
couldn't even get through his through afull year. So what was it which
is offensive identity? I mean playcalling, like well, judging from what
the decision they made, it's morethan It's comes down to a handful of

(05:40):
things. They didn't think they weregetting better, this is my opinion and
watching and they weren't getting any better. Bryce Young got better from the beginning.
He's made more plays, but youknow he's missing and watching him a
handful of times this year, it'severything seems to be laborious. I mean
they labor over everything, and it'sjust doesn't look it doesn't look like I

(06:00):
got a lot of people on thesame page. And with that you always
go to, Okay, why isn'tWhy isn't there more rhythm? Why isn't
there been you know, quantum leapstrides from my quarterback and offense. He's
the first pick of the draft.Wee expect see what the truth is.
Bryce Young's playing like rookies are supposedto play. C J. Stroud's playing
out of his frigging mind and he'sa freak. And to compare the two
is the mistake. Compare him toWill Levis, compare the start looking at

(06:23):
other rookie quarterback that may have gota chance to play. C. J.
Stroud's different now. Going in youdidn't know that, but we do
now. And Bryce Young is gota long way to go. But it
comes down to the fact that onein ten will cause you to lose a
lot of patience. But in thatone in ten, the body of that
work from the beginning to now, when you're watching tape, if you're Dave

(06:44):
Tepper or if you're the general manager, are you seeing improvement? Because I
don't think you can. Anybody canhave the wild you know that wild hair
that says we're gonna win nine gamesthis year. Can you see improvement not
just in the win column, butimprovement in your team? Is there more
rhythm to the office. It isBryce Young getting better with mechanics and execution,
We're getting out of the huddle, all those things that come in to

(07:04):
play. When you're watching, youcan see with the naked eye they haven't
improved much. And I'm telling youthe first sign of problems is when you
take when you call him plays, give them away and grab them back.
Two weeks later, you're basically sayingI don't trust my staff, and in
turn, you're saying, we're scramblingaround. I'm going to take it over
right then and there, the organizationand the now they're seeing you sweat as

(07:27):
opposed to don't ever let them seeyou sweat. And if you're Dave Temper,
that's where it starts. And Frank'sbiggest mistake was he probably should have
turned it over to a coordinator rightwhen the season started. And then then
you have the out and I'm like, I don't mean this to I confess
he did it, but I knowcoaches do do this. Yeah, Sean
McDermott, let's give me to KenDorsey. Then then we'll fix that and

(07:51):
we'll have Joe Brady call the playsnow. So right now there's that sense
of, oh, it had tobe Ken Dorsey's fault. I'm not saying
that was Dermot's thought process, butwhen you turn it over to them,
it's now in. Even though they'reyour guy. Now it's on them Jack
del Rio and defense or given upto any points. I'm gonna make that

(08:13):
change. I don't know if it'sgonna save Ron's job or what have you.
But they haven't made strides this year. They're one in ten record wise,
But to me, when it's arookie quarterback and it's a new coaching
staff, I'm always looking for, what do we do to get better?
Have we gotten better even though itmay not come across and wins in within
the win column? Have we gottenbetter in our execution and the way we're

(08:35):
doing things? And if that answeris no, I get why Dave Tepper
has moved on this fast. Ifhe said three years from now, we're
not gonna be much different. We'llget better in the win column. But
this is not a championship leadership orwhatever it is that he thought. Whether
you think he's you know, volatileor not, which he is, he's
got value. He makes some volataldecisions on a regular basis, temper does,

(08:56):
but he's a billionaire to do whateveryou want when it comes to his
team and decisions he makes. Butwithin that I can normally see, okay,
they've made strides, Like the Texansa couple of years ago when Mills
played great the last five games. You started to see strides, and then
they came back to down earth thenext yunie, I get rid of the
coach. That's the way it works. But and you see strides here look
around and say that guy's getting better. This team, that offense, this

(09:18):
team isn't it? And with them, not only were they losing, but
it wasn't getting any better. Andwhen you got the first pick of the
draft, your first thought is,well, what else does everybody else doing
in this drift? Oh? Haveyou seen the Texans? I think it's
both and I think it's not gettingany better. And C. J.
Stroud in a roundabout way, gotFrank Wright Frank Wright fired. I mean

(09:39):
in a roundabout way. It goeslike back into what you've always said and
what we've discussed plenty of different times, is when coaches try to do both
being the head coach and a coordinator, most of the time it doesn't work
out. Well, how's it workingout for st how's it working out for
the Saints? And Dennis Allen? They're not very good? Did work out

(10:01):
for Frank Reich? Not very good? It just doesn't. They're six and
six? No, Leslie Frasier, isn't Sean McDermott called the defenses? Uh
huh? Does it? It's rarethat the Sean Payton's Andy Reid. But
if you watch Matt Naggie when hewas there Eric enemy. They're working hand
in hand. Andy is the playcaller. They're given Okay, here's here's
our let's use this backfield. Hegive it to him. They suggestion Andy

(10:26):
our best third down run, blahblah blah. But Andy's the the engine
behind all that. But it's rare. You know, even Belichick has giving
up all that stuff over the courseof his career because why, at some
point in time you got to trustyour staff and you got to get production
out of them. But to me, it is it is. I mean

(10:46):
it's hard, but I don't justlike I don't like the head coach being
the full time GM either. Ilike him having say in personnel decisions.
It's just it's hard to go andget your your medical degree. I mean,
you go through all your and bea doctor in orthopedic surgeon and also
that you're the you're you're a defenseattorney. You ain't doing both. Okay,
it's hard to go, you know. Let mean, it's a lot

(11:07):
of school. I'm a dentist onMonday and Wednesday, but on Thursday and
Friday, I'm an orthopedic surgeon. What where's your specialization? I mean,
I know it's that's a little hyperbolic, but you get my point in yeah,
but it's I don't think it isthough, because like money through Friday
you're on the radio, and thenMoney through Friday you're also pulling, you
know, it's like and then inthe afternoons you're also like out in the

(11:28):
yard and you know, you're likeyou're etting things up, thumbing it.
Yeah right, and then you're throwingpins at the flag sticks. So what
do you want to do? Golfer? Golfer by day, man and playmaker
at night. But in truth theythink about it though it's really hard.
Yeah. Two. Now, Iknow it's different fields, football's football,
but to be able to lead andoversee all three. If I'm the play

(11:50):
caller on offense and your head coach, where do you think my mind is?
Truthfully, Well, if you're inbetween series, I'm calling the plays
and I'm the head coach, mymind is on what I'm doing the next
series. My offense has the ball, focus on your offense, focus on
the mix in the defense thing allthe time I'm already looking at my play
sheet. Well, now, Iunderstand you don't want to micro manage your
team, but to me, DennyDenny Green, who he had missed,

(12:13):
was great. He would just helet him do their job. But if
he wanted something specific, they knew, and then they let him go coach.
And if it didn't work out andthey weren't doing their job the right
way, I guess what you moveon from them. It's the ego,
the control thing of what got themto be the head coach is being a
great play caller, and you knowby having success doing it. But once

(12:35):
again, every we are in thistime when we think that everybody that's a
great play caller automatically qualifies to bea head coach. When we get through
that and stop and start seeing thefact that being a great x's and o's
guy does not lead to being agreat head coach or play caller. There's
three different turn there's XS and Oposition play caller get into the rhythm of
a game call and plays, andthen there's the head coach who oversees it

(12:58):
all. I personally do not needthe best ex'es and o's head coach on
the planet. He got there becausehe's good at it. I need the
best leader and buy in guy. Then I'll go higher. The same guy
that I was ten years ago,if you're the head coach that got it
there and built that and now everybody'sgot a specialization and everybody knows their role.

(13:20):
I think sometimes when you're doing both, you lose sight of the role
and the light becomes dimmer. Andif you're not getting great players, and
with a rookie quarterback, that's toughto execute. And at some point in
times, Tomiko Ryans will not becalling defenses here right, He's gonna hand
that off and it probably sooner thanlater when the trust factor kicks in completely.

(13:41):
Yep, couldn't agree more. AllRight, Let's hear from the owner
of the Panthers, David Tepper. He spoke yesterday to the media for the
Finer Frank Reich, and he mentionedc. J. Stroud, the quarterback
of the Texans. What do youhave to say about Stroud? We'll hear
it and discuss next on Sports Talkseven. Hey, guys, Men's t

(16:18):
Woe night, womne down, Welcomeback to the Shawn South ratio.
Here on Sports Talk seven ninety,Sean Bryan and Triple Lee Rockets fell to
the Mavericks last night. They turnaround. And played the Nuggets tonight in
Denver, eight pm. Tip off, seven o'clock to the launch pad right
here on Sports Talk seven ninety Texansback of practice. They take on the
Broncos this Sunday. Latest college footballplayoff rankings release. That's Georgia, Michigan,

(16:44):
Washington and Florida State Top four TalkingTexans the day off yesterday taking all
the Broncos and Shawn before uh weget to this, David Tepper audio.
The Broncos playing pretty well right now. Five in a row. They one
coming into town take on the Texasa Sunday. Yeah, and they're underdogs.
It's crazy you're gonna have. Thisis a whole different matchup than two

(17:10):
months ago. Would have been.Six weeks ago would have been this team's
playing really good football and Russ Wilson'splaying good football. This would have been
I mean to me, at thebeginning of the season, we'd have been
laughing and said, CJ been towfor five hundred on this team. Defense
has gotten better, they're running itmore efficiently and the quarterbacks making better decisions.

(17:30):
When you're twenty versus four touchdowns topicks, it's one of the the
most the more impressive turnaround seasons inthe league. And not only is it,
especially after the way they started. They were laughed at and now they're
doing some smirking themselves and in aplayoff hunt. This is going to be
a really good football game. Andif you turn it over and miss give

(17:55):
up big plays, you'll find yourselfback to five hundred. You're the Texans.
This is a tougher game, likeI said, than we would have
thought it would have been when theseason started. Yeah, especially the first
month. Yeah, be tough.Sean Bain's done well with turning that organization
around, or at least the teamwise. With Russ Wilson speaking of c
J. Stroud, David Tepper, owner of the Carolina Panthers, spoke about

(18:18):
their original plans when it went intothe draft, and it has to concern
with c J. Stroud. Whatdid he say? This is it?
But as far as those decisions, whether it's Frank right or it's Bryce Young,
those decisions were made and in acase of Bryce it was almost I
believe it was Unanis's decision and thecoaches and the in the scouts and very
strong opinions at the time. Nowit's been reported, and we talked about

(18:44):
it. Originally we were going togo to the number two picked him,
and we thought we'd get CJ.Because we thought the Texans were going to
pick Bryce, and listen, wepreferred Bryce. He was our number one
pick. We had a lot ofconviction and answer to your questions, it's
just not the way the process wasdone. The process is done on the
way the process was done. Theythought the Texans are going to take take

(19:04):
Bryce Young. Well, everybody didwell with the first pick if they could
get to the first pick, andit turned out that the first pick was
not the better pick. Right now, Like I said, you're gonna get
a lot of people out there thatare going to bury Bryce Young and say
he's not going to be good.I'd give the guy more football credit than
that. You've been pretty resilient onhow good he's been. Alabama sure as

(19:25):
hell isn't should I say Carolina,Sure as hell is an Alabama and vice
versa. But Bryce Young will bea better player than they're one in ten.
I don't know if he's ever goingto be c J. Stroud type
of player, better pure thrower theball Stroud, he just he just different.
And I don't care about the height, but the height works well for
him, and he's got good feetand the team will have a lot to

(19:48):
do with dictating that. But BryceYoung will be better than he is and
c J. Stroud is the betterof the two. But I would have
taken everybody, the majority of peopleout there, if you got we're able
to get by in Bryce Young's playing. It's not like he's getting banged up,
right, There's plenty of guys thatthey're bigger than him. They're on
the sidelines with injuries and banged up. Is it Bryce Young? This organization,

(20:12):
regardless what they tell you, ifthey had the first pick, Bryce
Young was going to be the firstpick of this draft. Right. You
may hear different now and fans willsay, yep, see, I told
you so. Not many fans Iheard wanted ce J. Stroud. Matter
of fact, there was more fansthat wanted Will Levis and Anthony Richardson then
wanted Bryce Young. Quite frankly cJ. Stroud listening to them because they

(20:33):
get intrigued with size. C J. Stroud's performances. He just got great
DNA and a hell of a player. So you know, it's crazy how
things work. Out and what wewish for. And thank goodness you didn't
get the wish of that last gamevictory, Yeah, because it would have
put Sometimes you let the first teammake the pick and then you go get
the next guy. It turns outwell, and it did in this case,

(20:55):
because the Texans are going to tellyou they got their guy and they
did it too, but it won. I'm not sure j Stroud would have
been their pick, right. Yeah, it's crazy to look back at everything
with the Davis Mills. I broughtthis up last week. The Davis Mills
bomb into the end zone for atouchdown, they lose or they they win.
That final game drops them to thenumber two spot, with the Bears

(21:15):
going ahead of them with a betterrecord or worse record, and then we
saw how everything happened transpired from thereon. Think about the groundswell. What
would have happened to this franchise rightnow if they'd listened to social media and
watched it. Oh, they wouldhave taken so they would have taken Will
Levis or not Will Levis, theywould have taken Will Anderson. It too,

(21:36):
stayed where they were another receiver orand drafted a guy in the second
round Yeah, that's what they wouldhave done I'm talking about by the majority.
And you save it, please pleasesave it for you. See,
we got people that are regular callersto this show. They wanted nothing to
do with CJ. Shroud. Butthat's the way this process works. It's
if it was an exact science,we'd all be billionaires. Right, it

(21:59):
isn't, And that's what happens.And like I said, then you'll get
the guy. Oh I knew BryceYoung sucked. Now you didn't know that,
and you still don't know it.I guess we should have quit on
Peyton Manning and Troy Akhen their rookieyears. Bernie Kozar what that? What
those guys suck? Suck? Oh? They were all three pretty good?
Right? Yeah, so Steve Youngin Tampa. Steve Young was not good
in Tampa. He was that averageplayer, got his way to San Francisco,

(22:22):
was the backup learning beyond Montana. Now he's in the Hall of Fame.
And we knew he was good whenyou first saw me. What's he
going to be like? That's whatyou're saying about Bryce Young. This is
normal rookie stuff. C J.Stroud's not normal. And yeah, so
I mean I if social media wouldhave if the Texans reacted and did what
social media wanted them to do,Will Anderson would have been picked second a

(22:48):
receiver at twelve, and they'd havegone and another pick, and then they'd
have gone and tried to find aquarterback in round two or three, just
like they did with David Smells. That's what would have happened. But like
David Tepper was talking about his team, you go through your process, your
evaluation, regardless of what anybody says, and you make scout. And for
them it was unanimous on Brightshow. That tells you the difference here, whether

(23:11):
it's unanimous or not. They madethe right choice by not listening to the
majority people who said and I don'tknow why they didn't like CG. Straud
other than the fact that you heardwhat He's not a great leader's he not
a good test taker, not agreat good test taker and the test got
it bad. He's got an agentthat doesn't like the Texans all that.
That agent probably likes the Texans rightnow, probably you know it likes Demiko

(23:33):
Riots and CJ. Stradd looks prettyhappy here. And they made the right
choice at least eleven games in itlooks like not only they make the right
choice, they made a monumental franchisechanging choice, but the majority of people
did not want that right. No, they did not. On the way
to break, I got a wealthyuse of stage for you. Ready,
Yeah, my baseball thing I alwaysgot to give use on June fourteenth,

(23:55):
nineteen seventy four. Good year.Nolan Ryan through two hundred and thirty five
pitches and struck out nineteen over thirteeninnings versus the Red Sox two hundred and
thirty five pitches and probably was goingto punch the manager in the face if
he tried to take him out attwo hundred and I promise you he didn't

(24:17):
miss his next start. I wasgonna say, did he turn around and
throw three days? Olad, goahead and look at June fourteen, So
look at like June twentieth, nineteenseventy four, and find out for you.
I'll bet you anything that's crazy. His next start probably was over one
hundred pitches as well. I'll betyou two hundred and thirty five pitches and
struck out thirteen and thirteen innings.Y Caxino, punk, bitch, No,

(24:38):
he sure isn't that's the knowing thereisn't that's the Ryan Express. Yeah,
times two, two hundred and thirtyfive pitches, wild nuts. Let's
keep it rolling talking these Texans. When you compare these two teams and the
Panthers and the Texans, why dopeople continue to say that the Texans had
the better roster when this season we'lltalk about a next on Sports Talk seven

one of Sean's favorite songs. Whata cut? Here we go. This
is who Morgan Wallen and Florida Georgia. Yeah, yeah, what a cut
when they were actually together? Yeah, cut them for politics, tore them
apart. They let's get that backtogether. Let's get that group back together,

(27:03):
a good group. Put those politicsaside. Nobody cares what you can
vote any way you want, butyou still can sing together. Okay.
If one wants a mask up andone doesn't, go ahead, but just
sing together. Okay, we gotgood group, little b b Rex in
there. Why not have done acut with her? What's the other dude's
named? Brian? And damn it? I don't know. I just call

(27:26):
him Florida and Georgia. Yeah,Florida and George Florida. Want to Georgia
and Ryan and Tyler? Yeah,Tyler Hubbard. I just want to honestly,
with some cold beer and just sittingaround in b f E. I
mean, who doesn't want to bepart of that? You ever been to
bf E? You have time ortwo? Yeah? Yeah, we went
together. I've lived in bf Eyeah yeah, yeah. Where's that at

(27:48):
when you live out where? Yeah? Yeah? I was just trying to
well, where was it? Californiaat one point? And then in Arizona
lived on a on a arm?Is that BFI out away from everybody?
You call that BFF? That farmsin Arizona? The desert cowboys and as
many damn near as many cowboys thereas there are here. Okay, we're

(28:11):
sitting out there in BFF man speakingof cowboys, not the Dallas cowboys.
You want to see what what youwant to see what our head coach at
sol Ross State rocks when he's coachingbasketball. Did they delete it? Nope?
Nope. Here just check this badboy out. This is head coach
Xavier Web Sol Ross State. Baby. Check that out. Mullet boots,

(28:37):
he got the blow tie, theblue on blue, the patterned shirt with
the gray sports coat jeans. Greatis that gray jeans or gray suit?
That's a great that's a great suit. Tweeted that out yesterday. He looks
freaking horrible. He looks stupid andhe and I hate saying that because it's
just that's it, you know what. Man like. At least he he

(29:00):
done wore the he wore the workboots out on the court. There's only
one guy who can get away withthat at any sport level. And who's
that, bum Phillips. Oh yeah, cowboy boots and his in his big
old belt buckle on the sidelines withhis cowboy hat. There's only one dude
who can get away with that.I will say, sure as hell,
can't do it on a basketball court. No, he this is now.
He dresses regularly though so at leasthe's not it's not like great, you

(29:21):
know, he's just doing it.He's just great. Look, man,
they recruited you. Come on.Yeah, and you can see how you
can see where I went. Idon't know if I if he had recruited
me for basketball, I'd have gonethere and average about thirty five. Yeah,
probably so probably uh soul. ButI had looked at him and said,
dude, you might want to puta sweatsuit on or something. You
can go crushed valor sweatsuit over that. Yeah, man, no wear that
out of the court. We couldhear your boot heels kick it on of

(29:45):
scuff of the floor, the hardwoodon your walk down to the table.
How do you argue with the refereesof that? Yeah, you're come walking
up like that, because me ifI meant I'm leading the league at teas
dude, Yeah, I'm sure hegot to have tennis shoes on. What
I will argue with the refere right, Yeah, at least you know,
at least wear your dancing boots outthere. So we've shore the boots.
Yeah, we've We've changed this wholething on TV. Now we get these

(30:07):
guys will come out with a nicesuit on in white Nike shoes with the
blacks. Then swoosh. Yeah,it's like at least put the dressed tennis
shoes hut, right, we seethat on TV. Outside it's like,
you got this beautiful suit and thenwhite tennis shoes. No, not not
in November December. Maybe put alittle maybe, how about a black Chuck
Taylor, you go there, I'mgood with that. Just dress it up

(30:30):
a little bit. But now we'vegone from wearing tennis shoes with a great
suit on TV, and now theguy who should be wearing those tennis shoes
on the side, on the courtcourt side has got cowboy boots like he
just got done holding an auction forcattle for four h at Texas A and
m okay, and then to topit off, he wo old school bolo
tie on their acid. Here wego, tell him Rhyanstone cowboy with John

(30:55):
Travolta left that back of the seventiesand let's get to move it. He
called and wanted his outfit. Goodgracious, Yeah, he called, said
that outfit. Doesn't he work here? Yeah? The the du popular thing
now is uh like ask for danOrlowski, dan Orlovsky. Uh, once
a week wears a baby blue suitand yeah, and Jordan's that's the look.

(31:18):
You know, at some point intime, is that look gonna go
away? Uh? I don't thinkso. You don't know. I think
it's it's here. It's running morerampant now than anything. Yeah, okay,
yeah, it's it's suiting. Jordan'slike course suiting. And like you
know how Cole Ha has those greattennis shoes. Yeah, the dressed tennis

(31:38):
shoes. Yeah, comfortable, offthe charts. I got a pair of
them. Are phenomena, off thecharts. They are worth two hundred bucks
or whatever. And your feet feellike a million bucks. And when you
put a suit on, it lookslike they look good. It was met
for the suit, correct, nodoubt. Yeah, you got it.
I just that big, No,I got I got I'm wearing you got
the clouds on it. The cloudsI'm not. I'm just not big on

(32:00):
the Okay, if you're gonna listen, I know it's what everybody does now.
I mean, we even got collegegame that we can wear tank tops
on college game day now, butwe got you know, you're wearing white
shoes. I just think that ifyou're wearing a gray suit in the in
the fall, darken up the shoesa little bit gray or black shoes makes
sense, Yes, yes, ina spring. If you want to break

(32:21):
out a seersucker suit on TV,have at it. And then you can
wear your white you know Chuck Taylor's. You can wear your straight white dressed
dress whatever little spring it up.It just it looks to be kind of
like a yellow canary yellow suit inthe fall on television with a yellow turtleneck
was probably a dog on Dicky too, which is the worst look you could

(32:45):
ever with a matching gold yellow wats. I just told to me, and
like I said, it looks good. I like to look. I just
I'm laughing because it used to be. I'm not not that look. Young.
You're talking about the tennis shoes.I don't mind the coming because when
I was there, we'd wear jeansand shoes, but you were not allowed
to go open collar on the setand you in twelve years, I was

(33:06):
never allowed. And if you walkedoutside you know how you do a stand
up in front of a big screenand doing it, oh yeah, then
that day you had to wear dressshoes and slacks, you know, suit
pants you couldn't go out there injeans because they didn't want to look.
Now, hey, put a golfshirt on and some kind of tweed sport
code and come out into any tennisshoes you want. I think it looks
slobbish at times. But if youwear a suit and put on the cool

(33:28):
dressed tennis shoes, that's the look. I understand the style. I just
don't think a black suit with whiteNike Swosh tennis shoes in November gray Nike.
So even if you want to goall great, you know the dress
and whatever, Yeah, whatever youwant to go, like like these right
here, Yeah we're wearing that.Just everything kind of blends in. It
looks like dressed tennis shoes. Ijust think we've dumbed it down too much.

(33:51):
That's just me and I wouldn't wearcowboy boots on the court side.
That's bum phillips on a football field. Nobody else should get that. That's
like Jackie Robinson's forty two. God, Jackie Robinson's forty two. That should
be the only guy well on thosejersey and on his day everybody wears Roberto
Clementa. It's like bum phillips.Pastoray that's his look. We don't need
you. You don't need to dothat a basketball court. This isn't We're

(34:12):
not man This isn't the hick fromFrench lick. Okay. I always kind
of feel like it's this could bejust me. I always feel like it's
kind of crazy that our head coachesand well not managers, they wear the
uniform. Head coaches wear suits tocoach in you think about it, like
most head coaches are former players, they're athletes, most of them, and
they're wearing suits. Used to beyou could only used to be. Hank

(34:36):
Strand wore suit. Tom Landry worea suit all the time, right,
Lombardi back in the day those states. And I remember when Jack del Rio
one time when he was either inOakland or in Jacksonville, you were allowed
to do it once a year.If you can't right now. For instance,
if if Demico Ryans wanted to weara suit, and let's say Tom
Landry was this guy and honor himor bum Phillips's probably a find. Oh,
you can't think. I think maybeone time they allowed Remember when Peyton

(34:59):
Manning at point time wanted to wearhigh top shoes and place the giant and
we're nineteen for Johnny and I would'tlet him wear high top black cleats.
It's crazy. You can't even wearlike socks. You can't. You can't.
You can't wear a sweater like JimTressel. You can't do that on
the NFL sidelines every week. Youcannot do the unified. They will not
let you. You can't even havecustom cleats anymore. Nope, they will
find your ass. You want towear a suit, right, and for

(35:21):
me, who'd want to? WhenI'm sweating? And I get there if
it was like respect to Tom letcoach Landry or or whatever I mean,
you know, and and then let'slet the uniformity. I get it.
But there comes a point in timewhen I just think I lot casual and
look good. But we're joking aboutthe tennis shoes. Just don't wear a
yellow suit. But if you're gonnawear a black suit, you know,
wear around Christmas, I'd probably suggestyou put on darker shoes that maybe look

(35:45):
like dressed tens shoes. But I'mjust a simple caveman. I have different
expectations. Nor do I need toqualify it or apologize for it? Okay,
No, I like, I like, if you're gonna wear the Jordan's
with a suit, I would ratheryou do it in the summer. That
would make a little bit more dressup the Jordan tennis shoes to match the
color of the suite. The contrastof white tennis shoes on a black suit
in December doesn't really fly with me, right, Seersucker in December doesn't work?

(36:08):
Guys? Yeah? Sorry, whatare you a fashion cond of shirt
connoisseur more than most of them?Yeah, your damn driks, especially being
on TV for as long as youwere that they forced us to wear a
tie. There's times we want towear a Gulf shirt. Nope, colt
and tire. That camera's not comingon you. That's the way it was.
But they changed times change, man. You got to just Yeah,
if people were ever questioning your fashionconnois soreness, dude, let them know

(36:32):
you wear Tommy Mohammad. They don't, Okay, listen, they don't.
Let them recognize fools better, Yeah, they better, damn right. You
know what. The hoose do toorecognize And they got to eat. They
gotta eat, you know what I'msaying. Don't blame them. Yeah,
looking ahead to the Denver Broncos.Dimico Ryan spoke to the media yesterday talked
about one key for them. Whatis it? We'll discuss next Sports Talk

Welcome back to the Sound Southbury Showhere on Sports Talk seven. I need
lot to dig into today. Rocketslose to the Mavericks. They're back in
action against the Nuggets tonight eight pmtip off, seven pm launch pad right
here on seven on your home forRockets basketball Texans back of practice they take
on the Broncos this Sunday. Collegefootball playoff rankings updated and release. Georgia,
Michigan, Washington and Florida State areyour top four? Real quick?

(38:07):
Before we hear some audio from NamiicoRyan, Shawn, I know you're a
big in season tournament guy for theNBA. The Rockets officially knocked out of
contention for that in season title. All right, I don't know what I'm
gonna do. Yeah, the endseason tournament? Uh? Where are how
long is this thing going? Idon't know, To be honest with you,
I really don't know. Tell meagain, I think, why is

(38:28):
this? Wasn't a desperate cry forattention for the NBA before like Christmas Day?
While football is going to tell meagain, quarterfinals are like next week?
I think. I don't know.Isn't it just a game? Still
count as a game? Correct?Yeah? Yeah, yeah, I got
you? Yeah, okay, allright. And so they did that,
and they put down some of theworst courts of all time, like the
the like the these like that isthis? That's that's just to tell us

(38:52):
it's a yeah, you think peoplefrom the Boston Old School Boston Garden where
the parquet floor was back in theday or that, like what is this?
Of course? But that's okay.If I don't know, I'm actually
to see if the ratings in theNBA changed with an insert you see some
tournament group play. I don't know. I don't even know Who's I think
I saw the Sacramento Kings or fourto ozhero. Yeah, there than one

(39:13):
at the top of one group.Yeah, the A or B. I
don't know. I haven't paid itto. Honestly, I paid it to.
Obviously I love the NBA, Butas far as the nd season tournament
goes, I if somebody said,Sean, come on and explain this to
us, I'd say it's just anNBA desperate move. I have no idea
what the big reason is we're doingthis, other than I don't know.

(39:34):
Just by the name tournament, it'ssupposed to ramp up your game. Yeah,
it doesn't change my viewing pleasure.I'll watch the NBA whether it's an
n season tournament. No. Amatter of fact, it's almost like,
you don't you don't need to callit this. Yeah, So the the
Rockets all about more money. It'sjust the players getting more money. That's
all it is. During a seasonwhen they already make plenty, it's just
a chance to give them another millionin their pocket or whatever it is they're

(39:57):
getting. Yeah, it's it's like, Okay, if you're the player,
you're like, hell, yeah, give me a chance to make a million.
So I don't want to sit thebench and we can go get paid
during the in sur season tournament. It's like an in season twenty games in
bonus and I can get a millionbucks extra. Yeah, that's my philosophy.
Keep keep paying the players more money. Just give them more money during

(40:20):
the season so we don't have toget them. So they don't want to
sit out because you know, aren'tthey all getting the same amount. Aren't
they splitting a puff for instance, all it's not like Lebron's getting paid more
than Anthony Davis in this tournament. They're gonna split it even lay them on
them. So if you're the twelfthguy on the bench, aren't you saying,
Lebron, don't take any nights off. We need you to play.
You get my point. So that'sit. But basically it's it's the two

(40:43):
reasons the NBA front office league officepandering and begging for you a gimmick and
to come in and watch during footballseason, when if you're an NBA fan
basketball fan, you'll watch anyway whenthe game comes out. And secondly,
it's to say, hey, man, players, thanks, don't sit this
one out. Here's here's what thebig purse is for the n season turn

(41:04):
We're gonna hand you a huge bonusbefore Christmas as if you needed it.
So there you go. Yeah, but you fans, you're still gonna play
the same ticket price, right,We're not giving you a break because tournament.
Yeah, yeah, no, no, we're not. Uh. The
Rockets have lost all six of theirroad games this season. They went into
last night uh number one in theNBA by allowing an average of one hundred
and four point four points a game. They gave up one hundred and twenty

(41:25):
one last night. Luca Donch hashad over forty Yeah when they are Yeah,
that guy's a monster. Yeah,he was a monster. It was
forty one nine nine. Yeah,he's a great player. Yeah. I
just for me, they continue toplay defense, things will turn out.
Yeah, continue to keep that hoveringaround. You know, between ninety nine

(41:45):
and one oh five, they're gonnathey're gonna be really this will turn around
for them the way they want to. They just got to get better on
the road. Yeah. And speakingof that that court, the courts that
we were talking about for this nseason tournament, the Mavericks didn't use their
especially built court for either of thehome tournament games, and they cited dissatisfaction
with the quality. Okay, gofigure, I don't know why we just

(42:08):
couldn't put like a little sign thereand then just keep your same court.
But what do I know? Yeah, he's simple cave simple cave man,
right, yep? Is that whatwe're Yeah, well, I don't know.
The N Season Tournament's over for theHouston Rockets if you're but they're still
playing basketball, right, they arecorrect? Their season continues. Yeah,
they are eight and seven now, they're still about fives. Making sure they

(42:29):
haven't quit their schedule because the NSeason Tournament's seventeen games in. Let's go

college football playoff rankings updated and release. Georgia and Michigan, Washington Florida State

(45:35):
are your top four. Let's talkTexans and their matchup with the Broncos this
Sunday. Dimico Ryan spoke to themedia yesterday and he talked about the offensive
line going up against the Broncos, and this is what the head coach of
the Texans had to say, tellingus to our guys up front is to
just have that physical mindset to finishevery snap. Make sure our had placement

(45:58):
is in a proper place. Itmakes sure we're creating displacement up front.
Right, Denver's gonna be a toughrun defense. Right at five across the
line, It's gonna be a toughrun defense. We had to make sure
we can create displacement. We cancreate lanes, running lanes for our running
backs, and our backs have torun and finish. Every yard matters,
right, It's just about pressing forwardin a run game with every carry that

(46:20):
we get. So that goes intowhat I asked you know you yesterday,
Sean, when we were talking aboutthese Texans. You saw some split carries
between Damian Pierce and Devin Singletary.Singletary being activated after being hurt for a
couple of weeks. But the weeksprior to that, Devin Singletary is rushing
for over one hundred yards each week. So what should the Texans do when

(46:43):
it comes to the run game?Give him the majority of the carries?
Well, I think that that's thegoing into a game. The plan to
me is to get a certain numberof touches for your I mean the balance
that you want from your team.I don't think you go in saying,
unless, of course you got DerekHenry, say, man, if he
touches at thirty times, we wineighty eight percent of the time, so
you keep him in. I thinkyou go in wanting to give both guys

(47:06):
touches. That's the one that Imean. Receivers. We got four of
them, so you say or youknow, three wide, one tight end
or four wide. If you're thethird receiver, you're really you're you're a
starter anyway. If you're the fourthreceiver, you're going to get a lot
of run. So it's not likewe just have one guy. Same with
the running back. It's not whostarts to two finishes the game for you,
that's who you're you trust more.If if Devin Singletary is in on

(47:29):
the last drive, that's dude. They're telling you who they trust more with
the game on the line. Pierceis a good player. He still learned
how to be patient. As I'vesaid with this zone scheme, he just
is and Singletary seems to understand ita little more. And that's good.
That's fine. But with that,I don't mind both of them going into
a game. You think, andI'd like to get both work. But

(47:50):
if all of a sudden, onone drive, bam, bam, bam
bam, one's going I'm playing justlike you would at a blackjack table.
Keep the same dealer. Okay, when that dealer gets up and lead and
you're hot, probably best you goto the sideline. Let somebody else take
over for a minute. Yeah, definitely. So it's the same thing here.
It's okay to get him both. You don't want to wear them out.
But I saw Singletary handle twenty plustouches a handful of times and be

(48:14):
damn good at it three straight weeks, as good a runner as there was
in a league. So he's mystarter. The question is who's my finisher,
And if it's him. He isthe starter right now. He's the
better back. I didn't say moretalents, He's a better back in this
scheme. Go in with both. But if one's running, I don't have
to explain to the other one whythe other guy is getting the work.

(48:36):
Yeah, yeah, no doubt. It's funny to hear that audio from Demico
Rimes and he talks about the rundefense for the Broncos. And I understand
he's played in the league, knowsit like the back of his hand.
Don't want to take a team lightly, but do you know where the Denver
Broncos rush defense stands in the league? Probably mid to late I mean,

(48:58):
i'd probably say in the eight teamto twenty two range. They are dead
last. They by fifteen yards. They allow one hundred and fifty five yards
rushing every single game, which isodd because they're winning and their defense is
playing better, and it starts tomake you wonder, Okay, are teams
looking at that number and saying wehave to force the run down of their
throat so they're getting more carries andmore attempts. Yet in the five wins,

(49:22):
I guess you can look at havethey been doing it? How are
the five wins in a row havethey played and they're giving up yards?
But are they giving up points?Yeah? So yards per game? Total
yards per game, they are thirdto last with three eighty eight. So
let's see you look at points.Points per game, they are fourth to

(49:46):
last. They average they give uptwenty five and a half a game,
but go all the way down toBut here's the problem. At the beginning
of the season, you remember theywould give up seventy That will skew a
lot of things. Yeah, that'sthree games. Yep. So he's watched
the tape and I know you're sayingit to make sure they don't take it
for granted. But I don't thinkyou go in thinking it's going to be

(50:07):
easy to rush for one hundred andsixty yards against Denver. I don't think
that, but statistics say it shouldbe. The question is how they're going
to play it. And he talkedabout five down and that what you're going
to see across the board. Andthe truth is, even though Denver's rush
defense hasn't been good, I knewit was a bottom third. I didn't
think it was that bad. Imean their last Yeah, hard to compliment

(50:28):
somebody yet he sees something on tapethat tells him something different, right,
Yeah, he just does. Andthat's why I mentioned that he knows the
league. Yeah, like the backof his hand. Right. So he
played it a bit misleading, especiallyif you're not if you don't feel your
team's the most successful at running it, you're gonna sit there and say because
the stats you look at it andsay, oh, they're just gonna run
it forty five times, Well,be careful because you mane up the long

(50:49):
yard of situations. We know who'sgoing to that the quarterback is going to
be the difference on both teams. But the run defense, you've got to
be able to win on first down. So it's it's quite amazing Denver's doing
what they're doing considering where their defensewas where it is now, and that
the fact that they're getting hammered inthe rush game. So in their five
game winning streak, they've allowed seventeenpoints of the Packers nine points to the

Right, Denver's gonna be a toughrun defense. Right at five across the
line, it's gonna be a toughrun defense. We had to make sure
we can create displacement. We cancreate lanes, running lanes for our running
backs, and our backs have torun and finish. Every yard matters,
Right, It's just about pressing forwardin a run game with every carry that
we get. So that goes intowhat I asked you know you yesterday,

(53:38):
Sean, when we were talking aboutthese Texans. You saw some split carries
between Damian Pearson Devin Singletary. Singletarybeing activated after being hurt for a couple
of weeks, but the weeks priorto that, Devin Singletary is rushing for
over one hundred yards each week.So what should the Texans do when it
comes to the run game. Givehim the majority of the carries. Well,

(54:00):
but that's the going into a game, the plan to me is to
get a certain number of touches foryour I mean the balance that you want
from your team. I don't thinkyou go in saying unless, of course
you got Derek Henry say, man, if he touches it thirty times,
we win eighty eight percent of thetime, so you keep him in.
I think you go in wanting togive both guys touches. That's the one

(54:22):
that I mean. Receivers. Wegot four of them, So you say,
or you know, three wide, one tight end or four wide.
If you're the third receiver, you'rereally you're you're a starter anyway. If
you're the fourth receiver, you're goingto get a lot of run. So
it's not like we just have oneguy. Same with the running back.
It's not who starts to too finishesthe game for you. That's who you're
you trust more. If if DevinSingletary is in on the last drive,

(54:45):
that's dude. They're telling you whothey trust more with the game on the
line. Pierce is a good player. He still learned how to be patient.
As I've said, with this zonescheme, he just is and Singletary
seems to understand it a little more, and that's good. That's fine.
But with that, I don't mindboth of them going into a game.
You think, and I'd like toget both work. But if all of
a sudden, on one drive, bam bam, bam bam, one's going.

(55:07):
I'm playing just like you would ata blackjack table. Keep the same
dealer. Okay, when that dealergets up and leaves and you're hot,
probably best you go to the sideline. Let somebody else take over for a
minute. Yeah, definitely. Soit's the same thing here. It's okay
to get him both. You don'twant to wear them out. But I
saw Singletary handle twenty plus touches ahandful of times and be damn good at

(55:29):
it three straight weeks, as gooda runner as there was in a league.
So he's my starter. The questionis who's my finisher, And if
it's him, he is the starterright now. He's the better back.
I didn't say more talent, he'sa better back in this scheme. Go
in with both, but if one'srunning, I don't have to explain to
the other one why the other guy'sgetting the work. Yeah, yeah,

(55:52):
no doubt. It's funny to hearthat audio from Demiico Ryans and he talks
about the run defense for the Broncos, and I understanding he's played in the
league, knows it like the backof his hand. Don't want to take
a team lightly, But do youknow where the Denver Broncos rush defense stands
in the league? Probably mid tolate I mean, i'd probably say in

(56:13):
the eighteen to twenty two range. They are dead last. They by fifteen
yards. They allow one hundred andfifty five yards rushing every single game,
which is odd because they're winning andtheir defense is playing better, and it
starts to make you wonder, Okay, are teams looking at that number and
saying we have to force the rundowntheir throats so they're getting more carries and
more attempts. Yet in the fivewins, I guess you can look at

(56:37):
have they been doing it? Howare the five wins in a row?
Have they played? And they're givingup yards? But are they giving up
points? Yeah? So yards pergame? Total yards per game they are
third to last with three eighty eight. So let's see you look at points
points per game, they are fourthto last. They average they give up

(57:01):
twenty five and a half a game, but go all the way down to
But here's the problem. At thebeginning of the season. You remember they
would give up seventy That will skewa lot of things. Yeah, that's
three games. Yep, sou he'swatched the tape. And I know you're
saying it to make sure they don'ttake it for granted. But I don't
think you go in thinking it's goingto be easy to rush for one hundred

(57:23):
and sixty yards against Denver. Idon't think that, but statistics say it
should be. The question is howthey're going to play it. And he
talked about five down and that whatyou're going to see across the board.
And the truth is, even thoughDenver's rush defense hasn't been good, I
knew it was a bottom third.I didn't think it was that bad.
I mean, their last Yeah, hard to compliment somebody. Yet he sees

(57:44):
something on tape that tells him somethingdifferent, right, Yeah, he just
does. And that's why I mentionedthat he knows the league. Yeah,
like the back of his hand.Right. So he played it in a
misleading especially if you're not if youdon't feel your team's the most successful at
running it. You're gonna sit thereand say because the stats you look at
and say, oh, they's runit forty five times, well be careful
because you maine up a long yardof situations. We know who's gonna that.

(58:05):
The quarterback is going to be thedifference on both teams, but the
run defense you've got to be ableto win on first down. So's it's
quite amazing that Denver's doing what they'redoing considering where their defense was where it
is now, and that the factthat they're getting hammered in the rush game.
So in their five game winning streak, they've allowed seventeen points to the
Packers, nine points to the Chiefs. So seventeen and nine is what twenty

(58:29):
six game yep, twenty two tothe Bills. Okay, that takes it
back up to I don't want todo all the math right now, but
let's say you're giving up sixteen pointsa game, twenty to the Vikings,
seventeen points a game, and thentwelve to the Browns. Fact, so
they're somewhere in the last five gamesbetween what fifteen and seventeen points a game
you're gonna win? Well, youshould be in position to win all of

(58:51):
those and they have. So there'sthe difference in regardless of what you're running
for. Remember I always talk aboutattempts. I don't care if you throw
for eight million yards. If you'renot getting in the end zone, I'm
gonna beat you. Now. Egowise, you don't want that happen because
it's embarrassing for your secondary coach andyour players. But you can't. I'm
more intrigued with four plays over fortyyards that that the Texans gave up or

(59:14):
red zone efficiency. How many yardsyou rush for doesn't mean a hillobein's how
many attempts you get tells me alot. And and I ought to tell
you they look at the points andthen look at the yards that they give
up rushing a game. And you'reseeing right now that that their defense is
finding ways to keep you out ofthe end zone, even though between the
twenties you may be getting five yardsof carry. It's crazy to look at

(59:37):
Yeah, it is. That's crazyto look at all these stats are basically
bottom five defense in everything, andyet they've writted off five straight wins against
the chief Two of those wins areagainst the Chiefs and Bills. Yeah,
it's like I said, stats canbe misleading when automatic people go, what
do you mean they can't stop therun? He sees something in their defense

(59:58):
and they're in his own offensive line. They may say, now, we
don't know what approaches. They mayhave the approach and I'm gonna say this,
but we're gonna wear their ass outup front. And if that's the
case, fine, if you cando it, but you can't force that.
You got to allow your formations andyour play calling and decision making to
create that for you. Right.Yeah. And another thing is you just
can't let Russ cook. Well Iwould imagine Sean Paige's going to try to

(01:00:21):
let him cook. Yeah, itlooks like Russ Wilson. Another thing this
year looks to me like he's losta lot of weight. Yeah, I
actually thought. I actually thought helooked baby hueyish fat last year. Yeah,
honest to god, I did. It's almost like he didn't take the
off season serious. It didn't takelike I mean, you can speak to
this more than I can. Whatwas your regiment like eating wise during the

(01:00:43):
season and weight room and things likethat. Well, it was you were
on. It was a like akid going to like a kid monitor time
for everything. Here's when we eatlunch, Here's when you're eating breakfast.
Here's what time you got to bein for your meetings, here's what time
your lift is. Like in Minnesotawith Denny when they said, like the
longer you're in the league, thetime my tenth year, your lift could
be at lunchtime. In between. When you're a rookie, your ass was

(01:01:06):
in at five point fifty five, right to go at six am during the
week, six o'clock. And Dinnyevery single day would walk into our team
meeting and say, Steve talking toour guy, our strength and condition guy,
the whole team in there, everycoach, everybody, how we do
today? That's how he started outthe meeting. All but one coach meeting.

(01:01:28):
One was late. It was arookie. It was from Texas and
one of the damn good player, love him and everybody a rookie and he
was a good player. Came backa week later. How we do today,
Steve, even though he asked everyday everything good coach had won late.
Now see what late? With DinnyGreen, you know sometimes say hey,

(01:01:51):
your workouts at six, I meanyour lyft, say you're rolling at
six you're putting your tape on yourwrists or whatever. Start at six'
ten no no, no clock meansyou're on that bench, pressure whatever,
your first exercise is in your circuitwith your partner, your teammate. At
six o'clock you are sitting down lifting. You're not walking down the hallway.
And I'm being dead ass serious aboutthis. So he asked him again,
it's like five forty five, youget yourself ready to go. At six,

(01:02:14):
you better be inside there talking tothe strength and condition coach at your
doing because you had your forty fiveminute workout. How we do today?
Steve had one coach. He stoppeddown and he said, is it the
same one as last week? You'dbetter not be He said, yeah,
coach, it is. Oh no, he cut him. He said.

(01:02:36):
He stopped the beating, and thenthe voice started to raise, and he
said, let me tell you guys, and he looked at the veterans.
He goes, you veterans, youbetter, he goes, he's a good
player. He goes, you veteransbetter make sure he gets there on time.
Where I'm holding you now accountable?Oh my god, And he said,
and if he misses one more time, you know, I me on
this football team meaning late yeah, and never missed again, and veterans grabbed

(01:02:58):
by the nap of the net becausethe guy's a good playing Nobody liked him,
but he just had a propency showup late and six o'clock for Dinny.
It wasn't a team. This wasa workout where he just kind of
troll in. No. So itwas regimented and you're eating habits and everything.
You know, nobody told you whatto eat. But we have a
schedule and in the off season. That's the discipline of time management. Schedule.
Russ looked to me last year likehe was on the banquet circuit.

(01:03:19):
Yeah, a little bit here, going to this concert, hanging out here,
fague m kills, driving through McDonald's. I'm not dog. It just
he just bled tiktoks here and there. And now look, maybe a couple
of his sunches. He looks trimmer, and he's and he's more active with
his feet and so I don't knowwhat the waight difference is, but he
always like he's wearing rib protector. He looks thicker in the but now it
looks like he's more streamlined and it'sand it's good for him. It's probably

(01:03:40):
coaching accountability. Yes, and it'sright, dude, you're fat, lose
weight, right and need you andyour legs to do it. And I'm
not now Parcells would have told himhe was fat. He's done that before.
I don't know. Maybe Sean.Now Sean's a Parcels guy. He
probably looked at him said, hey, it's your fat ass in there and
start eating right, and gets youback to being who Russ Wilson is,
right, And now it's with apH and he's playing great football. There

(01:04:00):
you go. They've turned it around, right. It off five straight wins.

what are you hearing out there? Now? The Salisbury Stakeouts' Shelsbury takeout on

(01:05:48):
the Sean Salisbury Show. It's timefor the steakout here on the Shawn Sean
Salisbury Show. Sean, Bryan andTripley here with you. The Rockets fall
to the Mavericks. They played theNuggets to night eight o'clock, the tip
off seven o'clock launch pad right hereon seven nine year home for Rockets basketball

(01:06:10):
Texans. Back in practice to date. Latest college football playoff rankings release Georgia,
Michigan, Washington and Florida state yourtop four? All right, Sean,
for my stakeout question for you. We're gonna stay in the NFL,

(01:06:31):
and it has to do with AaronRodgers. Aaron Rodgers is gung ho on
returning this season. You got tostop. I'm giving you no answer for
this. Why if you ask meif he's returning this season, I'm just
telling you it's him. It's hetalked about it the day yesterday. He's
not happening, So then why ishe just is this? Is? This?
Is this who Aaron Rodgers is?Just gets people off. He's gaslighting

(01:06:54):
essentially, is what he's doing.Well, I'm gonna I'm a did you
do you didn't know that? I'mall not only doing this, but I'm
going to be the lead analyst forthat. They're getting rid of everybody at
Fox, and I'm going to bethe lead analyst, the lead guy,
just me and Skip Ballis. Didyou know that? No, I'm just
telling you it's gonna happen. Ohokay, I'm just telling you it's going

(01:07:15):
to happen. Well, Sean, have you talked to him? No?
Not really, they have a clearBut I'm just telling you it's gona happen.
I'm gonna make five million a year. Ask me again, are you
going to I'm absolutely going to.I should be and I'm listening. I'm
primed for it. I've got theexprem ready to go. I've trained hard
for it. I've been on TVbefore I got I'm going to be that
guy Sean wins the contract. Oh, I don't know, but I'm just

(01:07:35):
going to be that guy. There'sno way Aaron Rodgers takes a snap under
center in a game this year ifhe had if or qualify this, If
all the medical talk is true andhe had a torn achilles, he's not
playing this year. And secondly,if you're the Jets and you let him
play, and you're five games outof a playoff spot, and you let

(01:07:57):
him play just because he wants to, then you're the dumbest organization in the
world. Well, and then there'sa chance that he what doesn't come back.
Well, they heard it once.Doesn't mean it's gonna be hurt worst,
right, But what purpose are youserving just because Aaron said he's coming
back. Listen, I don't putanything past the guy. Guy's a phenomenal
competitor. He's trolled the world amillion times. Why wouldn't he keep doing

(01:08:19):
it because guys like us are comingout here talking about it. Do you
really think he's playing a football gamethis year. I don't know, so
I don't So what was your question, Well, it wasn't gonna be is
do you think he's gonna play?I already know where you stand on that.
Why does he keep saying it?It's that? And it's going to
go into more about that organization.I feel like that he's handcuffed this organization.

(01:08:41):
I guarantee you he Hackett came backor not came, but followed him
to the Jets. And yet you'veseen Zach Wilson has not paying out.
They've bat They're terrible, They're notgood, and he'll make him better.
If if you'd have told me hepulled like there's a strain of his achilles
and that he could rehabn't be readyfor the second half season, I'd have
bought in. Yeah, so hesaid yesterday on the Pat mcaveewe show,

(01:09:03):
he said, quote, I thinkit's always been about first, am I
healthy? Then? Are we init? Are we playing good enough to
make a run? Can I stepin and protect myself and play the level
that I feel like I'm capable ofplaying. Can I protect myself? Can
I move around the way I wantto move around? And that answer is
no, this dude actually thinks thathe's gonna play good. If he didn't
think he was going to play, then he wouldn't be able to play.

(01:09:24):
I mean, he'd take longer.That's that part. I love the I
love the vibe of wanting to play. But if you heard him say,
can I move the way I wantto? And are we still in it?
Jets? Still in it? No? They have less than a one
percent chance to make the playoffs.They suck, So I don't I don't.
They have a coach that looks likehe's checked out already well during games.

(01:09:45):
From what I've seen, Robert Salahasn't opened his mouth and coached in
about a month. He stands inwith his arms folded, look it out
into the abyss, like what haveI got myself into here with the Jets?
And it almost looks like walking onthe field, like like the three
is a chore? Right now?Just back, I'll put a smile on
your face. But I got newsfor you all those things he said,

(01:10:06):
If I can move, if myant had balls, she'd be my uncle.
If I feel like I'm mobile enough, if I can live up to
my expectations and my performance, ifwe're still in it. And guess what,
none of those answers are going tobe this year, not on what
he said about playing. He's notplaying if it was a torn achilles,
like we said, Superman's not comingback from that this fall. And while

(01:10:30):
he may be Superman as a playerand he's in shape and all that stuff,
well, somebody could be built different. I ain't never seen anybody built
that different to where they over atthat position, quick twitch and have to
move, reset and throw. I'msorry, I don't buy it. I'll
donate money to his charity. Ifhe plays a football game this year in
the NFL and starts for the Jets. The Jets will have twenty one days

(01:10:50):
today five dollars donation, but I'llmake a donation to his favorite charity.
Some sort of donations better than nothing. Jets will have twenty one days to
decide whether to activate him from injuryresort. Rogers is reportedly aiming to come
back and play on December twenty fourthagainst the Washington Commanders at MetLife Stage.
You know what I'd do if Iwas them, I would put him on
injured reserve the rest of the yearso he doesn't so he doesn't keep bothering

(01:11:12):
you, right, I'd say, dude, I'm sorry to tell you you
got to save Aaron Rodgers from himselfin this case. The guy's too good
a player and as competitive as hell. And if he did play, I'm
assuming he'd played better than Zach Wilsonon one leg. That's not the idea.
If now, do you want himfor the future? What's going on?
Even if he does play, guesswhere they're not going. We're not
going to the playoffs, and ifthey got in the playoffs, they're not
gonna last. With that, hejust he's not gonna be able to do

(01:11:35):
the Aaron Rodgers things that we do, meaning that we expect him to do.
Now, the twenty fourth, that'sthat's less than a month. That's
like three and a half weeks. Are you ready for this? Yeah?
You're ready for him to be readyin three and a half weeks on a
torn achilles in the same season hetour and he's playing. Yeah, I'm
not even sure he's gonna be readyto play full speed at mini camp.

(01:11:56):
Do you understand this? He'll beready, dude, He's gonna go on
another darkness retreat, right a right, maybe maybe popping a couple of vitamins
on his way back. Well, they are they gonna haircut? Okay?
Are they gonna put a fake Achillesin there to figure out did Yeah?
Maybe they did? Maybe they did? And all of a sudden, he's
we've got then, I guess Achillestended injuries. No longer put a person
on the shelf for a year.Well, he's under contract until twenty twenty

(01:12:18):
six with the Jets, so wellput him on ihar you're not playing this
year, and if you let himplay your your dumber organization, then we
think that's that's saying something. Let'suh, let's look at some updated power
rankings. Where did the Denver Broncosfall. They come into town this weekend
to take on the Texans. That'snext on Sports Talk seven ninety. The
Shawn Salisbury Show continues on seven ninetyand continues in your home, Say Alexa

(01:12:45):

(01:13:30):
off, seven pm. Launch padright here on your home for Rockets basketball
Sports Talk seven ninety. This isthe Shawn Salisbury Show, Shawn Bryan and
Triple Ley Texans back of practice. We're gonna talk college football in these college
football playoff rankings at eight o'clock thismorning. Georgia, Michigan, Washington and
Florida State are your top four beforewe give to these power rings. Got
out to the phone line seven one, three, five, seven nines,

(01:13:53):
go to Roger. Roger, what'sgoing on? Tripley? Can you go
ahead and click him in, please? Roger? We got you. What's
up man? What's going on?Fellas? Uh My, my comment today
is about the Rockets. Uh theTexas a founder killer. I'm not gonna
worry about them too much. Ithink time will just time will just tell

(01:14:14):
with them. And I feel goodabout the Texans all the way around.
It's with the Rockets. They theygot the system in place, they got
the coach in place, they gotsome really nice pieces there. They got
one. They got they got akiller and and and they got a killer
in in in developing with Shangoon, the only the only, my only niche
with him is that he needs tofinish learn how to finish those those three
point opportunities. Seems like when hehears the visits the whistle, sometimes he'll

(01:14:38):
just kind of like just let it, you know, just let it ride.
Maybe maybe he looks different on TV, but from what I point I
see, I just feel like hejust you know, he hears a whistle
and that's kind of like play theplay goes dead. And he looks like
he can finish a lot more ofthose three porn opportunities. But with Jalen
Green, what year is Jalen? Is he in his third or second year?

(01:15:00):
Third year? You're I'm not fittingthat. I'm not seeing that development,
that push that that young superstars usuallyhave. Maybe it'll be later in
his career, but for right now, he's just he can be a good
piece for you, but we're we'relacking one of those killers. And that's
that's all I had to say.Fellas, have a great, wonderful day.
Now, appreciate it, Roger, thank you for the call. I

(01:15:24):
think there's a little bit of progressionthere for Jalen Green, but also he's
got to buy into what may Udoka'sdoing. Yeah, just another level and
it's it's time to turn that cornerin year three. And I know it's
a new coach, but I thinkthat he's got them obviously more committed in
buying in on the defensive end.And Jalen Green is a talented guy and
you drafted him to get to anotherlevel, and that is that if he's
going to be that guy or notjust a guy who gives you a scoring

(01:15:45):
once in a while, but everysingle night you're looking at the you know
you're looking at and he's controlling games. That's the that's the next level.
Luca's doing it. I mean thegreat ones are doing it now. He's
still young, but in the nextyear or two, aren't you gonna ex
that from him? And when youdraft him, that's what you expect,
right, Yes, that's exactly whatyou expect. And so I think there's
strides, but there's there's still anotherlevel and he's he's still a kid.

(01:16:09):
But at some point in time yougot to become a grown ass man in
this league, and it's getting tothat point. Let's look at some NFL
Power rankings as of wek what weekis this thirteen? Yes, correct,
week thirteen. The Broncos climbing upthese NFL Power rankings, obviously with the
help of Russell Wilson. So farthe season, he's thrown a completion percentage

(01:16:31):
of sixty eight point three percent,tw ninety nine yards, twenty touchdowns,
only four picks. He's averaging almostseven yards every pass attempt. The interceptions
being low is a big thing thatstands out to me, Sean. And
then in these power rankings, whois your top team? Oh, it's
Philly. Okay, Philly is numberone. Number two would be Kansas City

(01:16:56):
or San Francisco, either one, take your choice. They've got Kansas City
at number three, san Francisco atnumber four, and then they'll probably then
at number two they have either Dallasor Baltimore. They've got Dallas, Baltimore's
probably five. Baltimore's six. Okay, then five. Let's see, it's
not Detroit. It's let me thinkwho I missing. I got Dallas in

(01:17:17):
there, yep, Miami, yep. They've got the Miami Dolphins of five,
Baltimore at six. Seven is theJacksonville Jaguars eight the Lions, nine
the Pittsburgh Steelers, then ten theTexans, and then the Broncos have jumped
up six spots to number eleven. If this was college football, everybody being

(01:17:40):
an outrage that why are the Steelersahead of the Texans? They beat them
in head to head play, whichI know we're going to get to that
conversation about college football soon eight o'clock. And I yeah, those sound about
right. Your first six, youknow, move them around any way you
want, but I wouldn't. Iwouldn't have anybody else in the first six
as opposed. You know, youmay jumble them, but those are your

(01:18:03):
best teams. Philadelphia, San Francisco, Kansas City, Baltimore, Dallas,
and Miami. Those are your sixbest teams. However, you can put
move and how you want one,and to me, one is a no
brainer. Two and three are prettyfair, and then you jumble three,
you know, four, five, and six how you want. But Philadelphia

(01:18:27):
needs to be at the top ofthat and the rest of the top ten
will take care of itself eventually. So I and Denver's rise, and there's
some teams on the rise, andthere's some teams that you look at Pittsburgh
and say, are they really oneof the ten best teams in the league,
And my answer would probably be no. But did I say, well,
defensively, they get after it,the coaches gets it, and if

(01:18:49):
they just get any kind of offensiveplay like they did last week, they're
going to hang around. It's prettyimpressive. And we've talked about coaching jobs.
I thought Mike tomlins coaching job lastyear was one of the best that
he's had. They had no businesswinning nine games last year. I know
last year, and you know what, this one may even be better.
I think this one is better.Their offense is not good, right,
and it's it's pretty and you've hadto get rid of your offensive coordinator and

(01:19:12):
you're still winning. It's it's uh, just as good as Mike Tomlins had
his team going one way. Theinconsistency of Denver, I mean of Buffalo
going the other way. They've beenup and down and they got to get
this right or Sean mcdermot's job isgoing to be in danger. But yeah,
I'm not putting Buffalo can beat anyof them. The problem is Buffalo
can also lose to the nineteenth rankedteam on any given Sunday too. It's

(01:19:36):
Philadelphia may run into somebody, butthey're not going to lose to Carolina,
even if they're playing that. They'rejust not They're not going to lose to
Carolina, right unless unless fifteen oftheir players take load management. There are
teams that are gonna well, ithappened here. Carolina's one win came at
the imagine Now he said it wasgoing to affect him. The season's over

(01:20:00):
and you get to December and youif you get to eight or nine wins,
you are gonna be beside yourself thatyou let the one guaranteed win coming
out of a bye week get awayfrom you. And then also, I
hope that's not the reason. They'llalso look back at that Atlanta loss another
game that should have been won.At least Atlanta and Atlanta went out and

(01:20:23):
beat the Saints. At least Atlantacan line up and run it. And
they've got some I mean London Drakeand Pitts and Jehan Robinson. They at
least get some formidable players. Imean Carolinas now there's good players, but
they are you got to fight andscratch to find them. And that I

(01:20:45):
just hoped that's when we get toit, and it's weird how things work
out. You got to take careof the par fives, man, you
know, they didn't Another team that'son the rise in these NFL Power rankings,
and some credits got to be handedout to Shane Stikeen and the Colts.
They're six and five, number thirteenin the power rankings with a backup
quarterback who quite frankly is probably rightnow gives them a Minshew's been in the

(01:21:09):
league and seeing enough systems that hehas a pretty good and wasn't Stiking.
His coach in Philly wasn't. Hewasn't Gardner. Minshew there with him,
so it was easy verbiage for himto hit the ground run with. And
I can tell you this, theexecution of a play. To me,
if the mental part is good, the physical is easier. I can be

(01:21:30):
physically gifted, but if I don'tknow where to throw it and when to
throw it, it won't matter howphysically gifted I am a lot of the
time. So Minshew's advantages. Heknew this going in while it was a
learning experience on the run. Forthat gift to Anthony Richardson, who's extremely
gifted, I mean he's going tobe a monster in the league as well
as long as he continues to progressand he seems to have high football IQ.
But Minshew, actually, right now, for what's going on on a

(01:21:51):
young team like this, wanting whatStiching wants. Physically limited but mentally sharp,
gives you a chance. Yeah, and they've got a relatively soft schedule
the rest of the world, whodoesn't In the AFC South right now,
we talked about Jacksonville is easy. The text when we say easy, softer
than most. The Colts and theTexans all have the path to get there

(01:22:15):
with their schedule looks much easier thana lot of other teams in this league.
Colts still have they take on theTitans this weekend. Then they've got
the Bengals, the Steelers, theFalcons, the Raiders, and the Texans.
So the Steelers will be a toughgame, Falcons could be a tough
game, Raiders not so much.Texans obviously will be a divisional matchup.

(01:22:35):
Yeah, they're a I mean,they're not a slouch. And well they
just lost Jonathan Taylor again. He'sgoing he's got to have thumb surgery.
He's gonna miss a couple of weeks. Yea, So take it up and
let's roll. Yeah, man,put some what is it, rub some
dirt on it? Get back outthere. You got to rub dirt on
it. Yeah, and not theway to do things, you know what?

(01:22:57):
You know what you also gotta do. Let Russ cook that you I
mean, elevate and celebrate. Comeon, man, elebrate, elevate and
celebrate. Yeah. Jonathan Taylor, what are you doing? He's hurt.
Thumb surgery, he's hurt. Needsome load management, dude. Michael Pittman
still out there somewhere, you Coltsfan. I keep tabs on certain players
Fantasy Trojan Trojan, there were threeguys working out of my gym yesterday,

(01:23:25):
all wearing USC shirts. Trojan'd liketo yoke up. I like to do
that. I like to get yoked. Yeah, I was gonna asks in
their DNA. Are they young guys? No, they were they Honestly,
they probably looked like they could havebeen some of your teammates. There's one
what it looked like it was probablytwo older guys that were probably brothers,

(01:23:45):
and then one of them there wastheir son. I guarantee you he may
have been recruited by a USCSC littlesc connection that the gym. I like
it. They're everywhere, man,Trojans are everywhere. Michael Pittman is an
indeed leading the team and receiving yardsfor the Colts tripley four fantasy. Love
to hear it, Yeah, GardnerMinshew lighting it up with almost two thousand

(01:24:09):
yards, throwing eight touchdowns, seveninterceptions, and you have their six and
five right there of the playoff one. It's wild sure good for Shane Stiching.
Let's keep talking NFL. Next asports Talk seven to eighty. We
want to win. Sean Salisbury continueson seven ninety. Baby Lee, all

(01:24:31):
back here, relags, kick yourpretty feet up on my dash. No
need to go nowhere fast, listen, enjoy right here we are. Who
knows where this road is? Supposedlywe got nothing the time. Headlong as
you ride here next to me,everything's gonna be. Here's another one you're

(01:24:59):
pulling, baby is. Let itbe you're pulling at all of his hard
strings this morning. Triple e Whata cut on a west on a western
Wednesday. Let it be rid withrid with me, see how this thing
goes? What a cut? It'sa banger, What a banger? Western
Wednesday here on the Shawn Salisbury Show, A, do you want to interrupt

(01:25:24):
this voice? Do you really wantto talk over this voice? I mean
you got great headlights? Yeah, but BBS saying yeah, would you call
bb would you call her bae?No? What, I'll call her anything
she wants. She wants me tocall her late for dinner. I'm calling
her late for dinner. I runthis household. Okay, fair, it'll

(01:25:48):
be baby is Let it be?You got some good harmonizing in this song
too. Have you seen bb rexa? Have you seen Florida Georgia lyne red
with easy? How this thing goes? Yeah? Bb rexa, she's thick
with two c's, she's strong man, good voice, really good voice singing.

(01:26:16):
That's what that should be the polequestion? What's that? Will Bryan
Tyler get back together Florida Georgia line? Yes, dB is gonna get him
together. BBI and Morgan Waller aregonna combine and get him together so they
can sing more duet. I doubtthat's happening. Let me just listen this
bag. Let it be? Whata cut man? Did you by chancey

(01:26:48):
the kid that was wearing a TravisKelcey Jersey at the Kansas City and Las
Vegas game this past weekend. Hewas wearing a Native American head dress and
he had his face painted half blackand half red. He did not see
that? Okay, I did Iknow what you're talking about? Brokay?
Did you see? Okay? SoI didn't go politically crazy? And guess

(01:27:11):
who was behind it? Let mesee here a bunch of deadbeat asses.
Come on, think about it,who's behind it? It was in Kansas
City. Yeah, so this thiskid, They tried to say that he
was wearing quote unquote black face. There was a Chiefs game, yes,

(01:27:33):
and his face was paying black andred. So yeah, but there was
a camera that only caught one sideof his face and that picture went viral.
Guess it was? It was deadSpin. Dead Spin put out an
article that says the NFL needs tospeak out against the Kansas City Chiefs fans
in blackface native headdress and the pictureis only one half of his face.

(01:27:54):
The other half is red, andthen it like the Twitter blew up.
So you know how they have communitynotes now on Twitter to where it shows
context and it shows if things arefake news. So forth have paid attention
to it. Okay, So here'swhat I'm talking about. So if they
find something that is fake, seethe note below, it blow the picture
right here. Yeah, basically theyfact check everything on Twitter now or for

(01:28:16):
the most anybody fact checking the factcheckers. So this community that I don't
know, but this community note saidthe kid is not wearing quote unquote black
face. The dead Spin article ispurposely deceiving, as several fans in attendants
noted, the other half of hisface is painted red. So then I
just saw a video of it.The kid's mom came out and this this
video that was that was posted onTwitter. It's got like over ten million

(01:28:39):
views right now. He is doingthe you know, the chop, whatever
you want to say about the chop, racist, not racist, whatever.
He this kid can't be older thanten. Yeah. In this video he
is sitting front row doing this andthere are Chiefs players doing it with him.

(01:29:00):
And yet this dumb ass, Iwouldn't even call it news organization whatever
you want to call it, causeda stir for nothing. Isn't that who
society is? Though? Yeah?Looking for no context. Listen, if
you're the mom and the the mom, let me just give you a little
hint, don't explain yourself, givehim the middle finger, tell them to
kiss your ass and keep it moving. Yeah, you don't owe an explanation.

(01:29:26):
You don't know have to apologize tothe chiefs or the players. They're
doing it. It's a ten yearold kid. It's like apologizing for a
Halloween costume because you were a ghostand you're scaring people, and we don't
do that at school anymore. Juststop it, just go fines, don't
don't you have something better to do. I wouldn't even read the comments.
I imagine most of them defended thekid. Yeah right, I mean you've

(01:29:49):
got to be looking for problems totry and seek that out. My day's
over, and I'm telling you nowevery day that goes by, I'm getting
more hardened too it for other peoplefrom listen, I know what my rock
bottom looks like. Say they'rein't amother thing you can do to me that's

(01:30:09):
going to be anything I'm gonna fearany more than I did twenty years ago.
Middle finger these nuts. Okay,So if I'm that kid and that
family or anybody else out there, and you're and you're doing it with with
with in good spirits, but notblackfi. The obvious stuff that you should
not do, that a family shouldcontrol. You're at a game, chiefs

(01:30:31):
colors, you're ten years old. He's a kid. We got to have
something that that. Somebody's got toget a hobby. Not the kid.
I'm talking about the people that arecomplaining about it, whoever that is.
If that's you and you disagree withthem, I'm not explaining to you.
You don't deserve an explanation. Givethem the middle finger and keep it moving.
Who cares what they think. They'renot dictating that kid's future only if

(01:30:56):
the kid lets him even know whatTheir opinion of me doesn't matter, and
it shouldn't matter to the kid.You know what they see They tried,
didn't they They sure tried, Thankgoodness. Social media jumped on it and
said no, so for me done. Yeah, now they can they can
do whatever, they can, complainall they want, have common sense,
do right by the kid. Whenyou're a family and no, you know,

(01:31:18):
for it was blackface, you shouldnever now then we'd be having a
different conversation. But to create thiswith the side of the face on purpose,
to see if you could basically tryto ruin a ten year old kid's
life whoever that I don't even Idon't even say that name anymore. Okay,
So with that in mind, noexplanation ever needed. Again. If

(01:31:40):
somebody's got a problem, let themsolve it themselves. I'm not here to
fix your I'm not here to fixyour hang up. So I'm just not
if i'm them, and I'm sureas hell not doing it no more and
trying to creep back in this societaleverybody's got to kiss everybody's ass and explain
why you know you don't. Ihope he shows up in the next game

(01:32:02):
with the same costume on and tomahawk, chop your ass off if the players
are doing it with you, Andif somebody got to in the black face,
stop it. Quit trying to createa narrative that wasn't there. If
it's blackface, then his parents shouldbe ashamed of himselves. Yeah, but
it wasn't. So yeah, thisthis this panda and and meek and submissive

(01:32:24):
approach because you're afraid of society andafraid of what somebody's going to react to.
I don't give a rats ass whatthey think. I don't and nor
should anybody lid in credence to itor anybody else that wants to try and
ruin somebody just for good, justfor good measure. A ten year old,
Yes, stop what we're doing.Stop. It only happens if you
let him. They got zero powerover anybody. Yeah, what a joke.

(01:32:46):
I would assume that they're gonna likeretract your statement, but yet what
they do, they double down onit. Unbelievable. Yeah, I got
a big old white ass they cankiss. How's that? And fat with
a pH too, maybe a halfsometimes in a couple of squads. Get
that fat, just the stuff? What do you told me? That's like?
Oh, great, chare who nowhas a fake outrage? That's the

(01:33:12):
biggest probt fake news and fake outrage. Fake whoa that kid? Like?
Like that ten year old's bothering myday? Right? Whoa man? I
can't believe it. Let me flyto Kansas City and go picket, grab
a sign, and walk the picketline outside of his house because he was
rooting for the Chiefs in a twocolored face. I gotta explain it.
No, you don't explain anything tome. Come to my house and there'll

(01:33:35):
be a fuam middle finger sitting outin front of it. Okay, and
I'll hang any damn flag I want. How's that? There you go?
Thank you. It's get to theeight o'clock hour. College football playoff rankings

is the Sean Salisbury Show at Otwo. Here, Houston, Texas,
Welcome into the Shawn Salisbury Sewan SportsTalks seven ninety Sean Salisbury, Brian Lima,

(01:35:53):
Manuel Elmore. Rockets lose to theMavericks. They play the Nuggets tonight
in Denver, eight o'clock, thetip off, seven o'clock, Launch bad
right here on Sports Talk seven onyour home four Rockets Basketball, Texans back
and practice. They play the Broncosis Sunday. Let's talk college football.
The new rankings were released last night. Georgia number one, Michigan number two,

(01:36:18):
Washington number three. Florida State jumpsback into the top four at number
four, Oregon number five, OhioState six, Texas seven, Alabama eight.
Everybody else nine through the rest areat least one or two law or
excuse me two losses except for Libertyis undefeated at twelve and Ohero coming in

(01:36:41):
at number twenty four. Oh andthen two lane sorry twenty two. Living
in one two things at last nighttells you, Yeah, there's lots to
dig into with this. Yeah, there's plenty of them that'll tell you.
One is Florida State. If Oregonbeats Washington and Florida State beats Louisville,

(01:37:05):
they're going to consider Oregan's win bigover Washington. They are going to jump
Florida State. You know this, right, you do know they're going from
five to four if they beat Washington, which is the number three team in
the country, and Florida State eventhough they're thirteen and oh, if they
beat Louisville. I believe, now, maybe I'm wrong. I believe the

(01:37:29):
committee is going to have Oregon jumpFlorida State number two. I tried to
tell you, and I tried totell it again yesterday that the committee.
I didn't say you and me.I said the committee. I told Biscuit,
this is going to treat the winover Alabama, whether we like it
or not. They're going to shrinkit because of when it happened, which

(01:37:53):
is the dumbest thing in the Thenwhy count it, let's throw you get
to throw out one game all yourday? Why count it? Why even have
those games scheduled? Then if theydon't get held any water late in the
season, right, it makes nosense to me? Makes sense. So
that's what happens when human air kicksin. Go play Stone Rock or Stony
Point or whatever it is. Oh, do you think about this? Texas

(01:38:14):
is not just below Oregan. Texasis below Ohio State. How the hell
is Ohio state ahead of Texas andAlabama? It makes no sense to me.
Well, what I'm telling you isthis committee is that. Like I
said, like I've been telling you, the Committee's gonna look at the You're
not gonna get the respect for thewin that Texas deserved in Week two or

(01:38:39):
Game two whatever in September, thatLonghorn fans and that you and I expected
them to get. I told youthe Committee is going to look at that
out of sight, out of mind. It's there, But I'm not saying
it's right. I'm just telling youI've tried to that. That's why Texas
must have Georgia win this foot againstAlabama ABS and they got to beg for

(01:39:02):
Louisville to take care of Florida Statebecause the Committee holds Oregon in higher regard
than they hold Texas. They provedit last night. The Committee also,
while they may have Florida State overhigh regard, they already know the plan.
If Oregon beats Washington, they're goingto jump them. I'm I'm just

(01:39:23):
telling you that's going to happen, right, especially if it's impressive. With
Texas, you're below a team thatjust got beat and didn't even make it
to the conference championship in Ohio State. That's how the Committee feels about them.
So with this in mind, Texasis A Texas win does not guarantee
them a trip to the Final Four. Matter of fact, if everything stands

(01:39:45):
like it is and all these teamswere talking about win, Texas is not
going to the Final four. Judgingif Florida State wins, hou's Texas jumping
them? Well, according to thecommittee there it's not going to happen.
If Texas wins this week against OklahomaState and Florida beats Louisville, I'm talking
about buy the committee standards. Howare they jumping them? They're not?
All right? So there's that ifOregon wins and Oregon's already ahead of Texas,

(01:40:11):
and if Oregon goes and beats thenumber three team in the country,
Washington, how is Texas jumping Oregon? They're not. Oregon's going to go
up to three and Florida State willstay at four, and then Texas will
be on the outside looking in.According to the Committee, Well, if
Alabama beats Georgia, I'm not sureGeorgia. I see if Alabama beats Georgia,

(01:40:35):
I would think that you're gonna haveGeorgia before Michigan one, Michigan one.
If and Oregon beats Washington, Oregon'sgoing to find their way into the
four. Michigan would be in thefour. The winner of the PAC twelve,
meaning Oregon Michigan the winner if Alabamawould move into the final, would

(01:40:59):
move into the You do know thiswith the win over Georgia, so let
me and then Georgia from one.You think George's falling out of the top
four of the I don't think Georgiawill. But I don't think Alabama's a
showing to get in because look atthe look how they're rated right now.
Gets ahead of is ahead of Alabama. Who's who's Alabama plan? Though Alabama's
playing Georgia, I get that. And who's Texas planned? Oklahoma State?
We're Oklahoma State ranked like twenty threeand the number one team. They're gonna

(01:41:20):
jump them. You know, ifthey beat them, they're jumping them.
I don't think that's I mean,I don't think it's a guarantee. But
I'm just telling you, yeah, there, I know how we're on the
sand when it comes to the committee. You're not kd E Houston, k

(01:44:50):
How the hell is Ohio state aheadof Texas and Alabama? It makes no

like I said, like I've beentelling you, the Committee's gonna look

The winner of the PAC twelve, meaning Oregon Michigan the winner, if
Alabama would move into the final, would move into the four. You do
know this with the win over Georgia, so let me and then Georgia from
one. You think Georgia's falling outof the top four. I don't think
Georgia will. But I don't thinkAlabama's a showing to get in because look

(01:47:39):
at the look how they're rated rightnow. Again, it's ahead of is
ahead of Alabama. Who's who's Alabamaplaying? Though Alabama's playing Georgia, I
get that. And who's Texas plannedOklahoma State? We're Oklahoma State ranked like
twenty three and the number one team. They're gonna jump them, you know,
if they beat them, they're jumpingthem. I don't think that's I
mean, I don't think it's aguarantee. But I'm just telling you,
yeah, they're I know how we'reon the same when it comes to the

(01:48:00):
committee. They're not ahead of FloridaState. Dude, I know when when
we talk about how the committee sothis is all committee correct, and I'm
on the same page with you.But I think it's almost just cut.
I think it's bs the way thatthis this thing is shaking. Of course
you do, and so do Ione hundred percent. But the committee is
loud and clear. If everything stays, it is Oregon wins, Texas wins,

(01:48:25):
Florida State wins, Georgia wins,Michigan wins. Guess who the odd
man out is? It's going tobe Texas. Yes, based on what
the Committee's doing. Now, Alabamawins, I want you Nick save and
Alabama SEC champion? Do you wantto believe there's an actual chance that Alabama
is not jumping into the four bythe committee's standards? Can you imagine them

(01:48:49):
winning the SEC Championship, beating thenumber one team in America and being left
out? I mean you could imagine. You think the Committee is going to
do that? Leave him out?Yeah? No, because if you leave
Georgia, if you leave Alabama outafter beating Georgia, then Georgia with one
loss, sure as hell isn't stayingin. No, but then there goes
your chance for a threepeat. Committeedoesn't want that. So if you're telling

(01:49:11):
me Georgia's staying in with a loss, you've got to tell me Alabama is
getting in with a win. Thatmeans that two SEC teams would have to
be ends, right, and thenMichigan. And now you've got to decide
between Texas, Oregon and Florida State. And if Oregon beats Washington, they're
jumping Florida State and they're already headof Texas and Texas is playing Oklahoma State.
It won't matter. Oregon will bethe fourth team committee wise. Committee

(01:49:34):
wise, we could argue, I'mjust saying committee wise, it just don't
get too comfortable, don't do donot. And if Washington wins, Washington
staying right where they are at numberthree, Michigan wins, are staying where
they are, Georgia wins. Sothen it comes down to if those three
teams win, Florida State and Texas, and right now, where's Louisville ranked.

(01:49:57):
Louisville is fourteenth. I was justabout to Louisville is going to be
a more impressive win for Florida Statethan Oklahoma State loss would be for Texas.
Texas has to have more than onething happened for them to get in.
How is Ohio State still ahead ofTexas and Alabama? Here's how Texas
gets in. I'd like tried toexplain it yesterday. No, they got

(01:50:18):
it simple. Alabama loses to Georgia, Michigan's gonna beat Iowa, they're in,
Washington beats Oregon. Washington's gonna sitin the three hole. Deal with
it all. If that happened, and then they need Florida State to lose
to Louisville. And they beat WashOklahoma State didn't. We're done. It

(01:50:41):
is done. There's your four.It is over. That's why I said,
you want Georgia and Florida State?Do you want Georgia to win and
Louisville to win. If you dothat, it doesn't matter what happens out
West, because a winner of thatwill go and then you take care of
your business. That would mean thatyou go. And if Oregon loses to
Washington, it's Washington, Texas,Michigan, Georgia. If Florida State lose,

(01:51:05):
Florida State lose their obvious side,Hell, there's a chance that they
win. They're not going correct. So but I can tell you this,
if they win, you can doone thing. I will guarantee you if
they win, and if they win, Texas is done because the winner of
the PAC twelve, Oregon's already aheadof him and Solas Washington, the winner
of that game is in. Isgoing right if Florida State wins Texas,

(01:51:30):
If Florida State and Georgia, whenTexas is not going to play in the
final four via from what the waywe're looking talking about commitee stuff, Yes
we can we come back. Inargument I'm just telling you they've got to
beg for Georgia's win, which isgoing to be the favorite. They got
to beg Louisville to play a greatgame and go get after him and win
that game. Because if Florida Statewins and Georgia win, I mean,
if Florida State wins and things going, the PAC twelve winners going, Michigan's

(01:51:54):
going, and the winner of theSEC is going. If Florida State wins
and Texas wins, Florida State's goingto be in the final, in the
Final four, like it or not. That's this committee told you what they're
doing yesterday with the last night it'sand talking about Oregon and Washington. Looking
at the odds, it's still attheir nine and a half point favorite.

(01:52:15):
They if I'm not mistaken, itwent up a point. Weren't they eight
and a half and a half yesterday? Okay, it's getting closer and closed.
So Washington at three they're automatically andif they win in Oregon, all
they gotta do is Florida State. But their win is gonna be more impressed
in Florida State. They're gonna trump, They're gonna jump in. Yeah.
So that's why it is. Yeah. One of the things that was discussed
on that college football playoff ranking showlast night was the eye test. Well,

(01:52:35):
let's look at this eye test betweenthese top eight teams. That's next
on the Shawn Salisbury Show. Letthe celebration start or Shawn Salisbury on Sports
Talk seven ninety won night, wombonedown, womb More, first one in,

(01:53:12):
last out, give him this timeoff and talk Kataki college football.
They don't. Right here on theShawn Salsbery Show on Sports Talk seven ninety
some news from Ian Rappaport out ofthe NFL. Texans are gonna lose Titus
Howard for the rest of the year. He was carted off this past Sunday.

(01:53:39):
So tough news for the offensive linefor the Texans. Another bit of
adversity they're gonna have to deal withand overcome. Yeah, they've been dealing
with offensive line injuries pretty much allseason long. They do a pretty good
job frustrating, but best Titus Howard. Hopefully you'll get right and get ready
to go next year. I meanbetween Garden tackling now back at left guard
and then getting hurt, tough bummer. Yep. So they're gonna have to

(01:54:01):
figure that out again. They'll sha'vedone all season long. All right,
let's talk about this eye test withthese college football playoff rankings again. It's
Georgia, Michigan, Washington, FloridaState, Oregon, Ohio State, Texas,
Alabama. That's your top eight nowwith this eye test Sean. Last
night on that show, which wasthe college Football Playoff ranking show, it

(01:54:25):
was Rhys Davis, Kirk curb Street, Booker McFarlane, Greg McElroy and Joey
Joey Goshtang Joey Galloway. And oneof the things that they were discussing and
Kirkurbstree was getting a little fired upboutit. And one of the things that
he said was he talked kind oflike we've talked, when everything's said and

(01:54:47):
done, are the four best teamsgoing to be in the final four?
And that's where Florida State comes into play. And one of the things
that Greg McElroy was trying to pushis that even if Florida State doesn't have
their quarterback and they win, they'rea shoe in to get in because of

(01:55:09):
the ACC champs and they're undefeated. But yet, if you look at these
other teams, they're not They're notone of the top four. And Kirkirbsree
was arguing the fact that you gotto look at the eye test, you
got to look at who is playingthe best football, who has all of
their players available, so forth andso on, and he said that's not
how the committee thinks. The Gregmcwortz, that's not how the committee thinks
and how it works. And KirkKerbsree says some along lines of well,

(01:55:29):
it's got to change. These semifinal games the last couple of years have
been brutal. Yeah, they haven'tbeen good. Yeah, I mean,
we like to see him until welike to see the Cincinnaties of the world
get in there, got boat rangeduntil they get curb stopped in the game.
Twelve team playoff would be great everynow and then you're gonna get the
upset. The better teams are usuallygonna win over the course of a tournament

(01:55:50):
like that because they got more depthand they got more you know, they're
just they've been better all year long, and the longer they play, the
better they're gonna get. As opposedto you, and an injury here diminishes
your roster because you don't have thedepth if you're the tenth team that the
number one or two, or threeor four team have. But I'm okay
with expanding it because if Texas getsleft out, I'd sure like to see
them play. If Florida State leftout, I'd like to see him play

(01:56:13):
without quarterback. See how they do. Let's go, you want it in,
let's go. I disagree with McElroy. I'm on the with Greg on
this that so does he want theconference champions to all get in or undefeated
conference champion? Because if his AlabamaCrimson Tide win, they have one loss,
should they get in according to histhought process? All right, because

(01:56:34):
they're one loss. But there's more. But the problem is, if Oregon
wins, there's another team with oneloss, Texas has one loss, the
SEC champion would have one loss, only the team only the ACC and and
the Big Ten would have undefeated championsunless Washington wins out in the Pac twelve.
So there's a lot of ifs.But listen, Florida State under the

(01:56:55):
current circumstances, is not one ofthe four best teams in America. They're
not one of the six best teams. Their record says they are and I
put a ton of respect on it. The eye test will tell you that,
but all the other stuff doesn't.And even if they go undefeated,
I don't think they're shoe in.They are a shoe in. They are
a shoe in. If Washington wins. If Washington wins and Florida State beats

(01:57:19):
Louisville, Florida State is going andonly other way they're not. If Alabama
beats Georgia and both Alabama and Georgiaget in, then that would mean it's
Michigan, Alabama, Georgia and thewinner of the PAC twelve, because the

(01:57:41):
winner of the PAC twelve. IfWashington's already three, if they win,
they're going to stay at three.Correct. Oregon's already ranked just one behind
Florida State Florida State's four. IfFlorida State wins and Washington wins, why
would you move Florida State behind Texas? You didn't lend credence last night to
the victory over Alabama. What makesyou think are going to change it next
week in Louisville. Win by FloridaState will be more impressive than a win

(01:58:03):
by Texas over Oklahoma State a court. This is all committee talk we're talking
about how the Committee's gonna think aboutthis. They told you last night that
Florida State, they're more impressed withFlorida State than Texas. Has win over
Alabama in September didn't quite matter asmuch to them. That's just what they
told you. So West Florida State. Let's say it gets down to Florida

(01:58:26):
State and Texas for the final spot. Let's just however, it works its
way out and Florida State wins overLouisville and Texas beats Oklahoma State. Who's
going, Well, that should bea pretty easy answer. Is Florida State's
already ahead of them. Yeah,it's Florida State. If Florida State and
Texas both win and it's for thefar let's say this is for the forest
spot, who's going will be FloridaState by the committee, right, Well,

(01:58:49):
they're the ones who are gonna choosethis. They're in so Texas absolutely
needs Georgia to win. So Georgiais not it's a second team from the
SEC that they still in play ifthey get beat by Alabama. The rest
of the groups aren't in play.If they get beat, Washington's out.
If they lose Texas is out ifthey lose, Florida State's out if they

(01:59:11):
lose. Michigan would be out ifthey lose, although they're not going to
lose, and Georgia is the onlyone of the teams right now that if
they lose, still has a chanceto stay in Texas according to what the
committee has done. So why wouldthey take they going to lend more credence
next week, next Tuesday to Texas'swin over Alabama, then they would if

(01:59:35):
this week then they did. Theydidn't they have thought. They said Florida
State's more impressive. That's what thecommittee said. Now here's the thing where
Biscuit was saying yesterday, if infact Alabama beat Georgia, goes back to
how are they doing it? Well, we weren't really impressed with the win

(01:59:56):
that Texas over Alabama because it happenedtwo and a half months ago. Does
it all of a sudden heighten there? Now are they impressed? Ooh,
Alabama beat Georgia, so now they'llwin back in September that you didn't give
me credit for last week for themost part yesterday, now you're gonna give
me credit for it. And it'sgonna heighten Texas. So that would mean
that George is gonna fall below Texasbecause Texas beat Alabama. They didn't give

(02:00:17):
enough credit this yesterday, so thatwas going to extend the credit next week
if Alabama wins, How are theygonna flip that right? Oh, we
should have taken it into camp nowthat it's a real impressive win that Texas
beat Alabama because Alabama beat Georgia,Well it was just as impressive even before
they played Georgia because they were thenumber three team in the country. See,
I don't understand the committee's thinking.Yeah, that's the whole thing.

(02:00:40):
And even last night on this collegefootball playoff show, they had on Boo
Cardigan. He's one of the he'sthe North Carolina State athletic director. He's
also part of this committee. Likewhen he was asked about why Oregon was
ahead of the rest, he talkedabout common opponents, He talked about bo
Nix's complete percentage. Like some ofthe things he said didn't make sense.

(02:01:02):
So if you're gonna talk about acommon opponents, meaning Texas in Oregon have
a common opponent of Texas Tech, and that's something you're looking at, well,
then don't you think you should beable to still give credit to Texas
for taking down Alabama when they werenumber three in the nation. At Alabama
of course, but yet it's notreflected, like it doesn't make sense.
So all of a sudden it's gonnabe reflected next week in Georgia. Yeah,

(02:01:25):
is that? Is it gonna bereflected for Texas because if Alabama wins,
they're in. Right, they're gonnajump off hand because everybody's gonna give
wu they beat Georgia, it's thedominant number one team in the country.
But are they gonna all of asudden give you the old after the fact,
Oh hindsight twenty twenty. Oh thatwe're sorry Texas. That was an
impressive win. They should get that. Texas should already have credit for that.
Yeah, we play a full season. We don't just play from October

(02:01:46):
on. They beat him in September. That should matter. But according to
the committee, what they did fortech, Texas has got to have Georgia
win and has to have Florida staycan beat by Louisville, then they're in.
If they take care of their ownbusiness. If Floyda comes down to
Florida State in Texas and they bothwin. Florida State is going to the

(02:02:08):
final four. Whether you like itor not, whether I like it or
not, that's going to be thecommittee's decision. Yeah, they have a
wild hair for Oregon and they're goingto it's going to jump Florida State.
I think if Florida State, ifOregon beats Washington the number three team,
because they're going to call it animpressive win man the eye test, bam,
they'll jump to four and watch FloridaState fall out of that thing because

(02:02:32):
Michigan and Georgia with a win aren'tmoving and the PAC twelve, if it's
Washington, they're sure as hell notmoving. Right. Yeah, let's keep
talking about this college football playoff rankingsand specifically the committee. Why is Oregon
ahead of Texas? Why is OhioState ahead of Texas and Alabama? Let's
discuss it next on Sports Talk sevento ninety. Hey, Trajan Wealth,

(02:05:17):
three two point two five seven Ineed Let's go to Wayne on the North
side. Wayne, Good morning,Hey morning, thanks for taking my call.
A longtime listener, I call fromtime to time. I enjoy the
show. Thanks brother, what's onyour mind? So here's just my opinion,
and uh, I agree with everythingyou are saying to some of these
you know, ideas and moves andthoughts and with the committee, but you

(02:05:40):
know, a committee is kind oflike a cific association board. Me is
kind of like it's a thankless job. No matter what, somebody's going to
complain about something because that's just theway it's set up. But my opinion
is just this is just my thoughts. Uh. If you look back in
the way they ordered these these teams, like three or four years ago,
Alabama had one loss, didn't evenplay in a car Frist championship, and
beat out Ohio State to get inthe playoffs somehow, and those two fan

(02:06:03):
bases came on glue that the committee. So I think what they're trying to
do is avoid some kind of backlashesbanking on Georgia beating Alabama and Florida State
going undefeated. If Oregon beats Washingand they put them in, then you
gotta wash between Texas, Alabama, and Ohio State fan bases because they're all
going to be outside of the boxlooking anyway. And that's just my opinion,
and I'll hang up and listen.Thank you, Thanks Mane spot On.

(02:06:26):
Yeah, those those meetings have people, you know, those town halls,
screaming and yelling. But and youcan't mean nobody, I mean half
win halfway. There's always somebody putpissed if they are. And the committee
is banking on the fact that Georgeis gonna win, that Florida State will
take care of Louisville, which Idon't think that's a stone cold lock by
any stretch of the imagination, andthat the PAC twelve winners going if it's

(02:06:48):
or they've already told you that.If now here's the deal, let's just
say Florida State loses, okay, and Oregon wins. Okay, Okay,
Washington falls Flida State. That's goingto open up two spots. Oregon goes
in and then Texas. Right, what if Alabama beats Georgia and those other

(02:07:11):
two situations happened? That was becauseI'm going by what Wayne said about right,
Yeah, Alabama not even when playingthe conference championship and still going don't
kid yourself about the Alabama Nick Sabanfactor and all this thirty four to thirty
one, Alabama wins Oregon beats Washington, Florida State beats Florida State beats Louisville,

(02:07:35):
Michigan would be number one. Uhhuh, probably probably the winner of
the PAC twelve possibly bolts to tworight possibly possibly or according to them,
Florida State would be number two.Think about that, they're four right now.

(02:07:55):
Yeah, the two teams in frontof I mean, if all of
a sudden, I mean, whoever, but the four, you'd get Alabama
SEC champions in correct? PAC twelvechampion's it's Oregon is in correct? You
assume, Yeah, Texas wins Texas. Okay, let's let's let's go with

(02:08:16):
the five. It would be Michigan, Alabama, Florida State, Oregon,
and Texas. Okay, Now Georgiacomes into play because why they just got
to beat by Alabama. So nowOregon's eliminated Washington. Organ's already ahead of
Texas. If both Texas and Oregonwin, who's going into the four ahead

(02:08:37):
of each other? Oregon will bein ahead of Texas. Oregon shouldn't be
even ahead of tax I'm just tellingyou what the committee. I know,
I'm staying between you and I,but they are right. They shy,
but they are, So what's thepoint. Let me ask you a question
real quick. On that thought,Let's look at these how everything comes into
play. I test strength, theschedule, so forth, and so on.
Oregon has one top twenty five win. Their best win is number twenty

(02:08:58):
Oregon State their common opponent, whichwas set on that show last night by
the committee. Guy, Yeah,go ahead. They beat Texas Tech by
eight points. Texas two top twentyfive wins. They beat Alabama at Alabama
and they kicked the breaks, beatthe breaks off of Texas Tech by fifty
How is Oregon ahead of Texas? They hold the PAC twelve in higher regard,

(02:09:18):
yes than they do. And theeye tests the eye test. Listen,
you can say all you want aboutwho they beat. Test Oregon is
the eye test with Oregon right now. The eye test says Organ's playing better
than Washington henton nine and a halfpoints spread. Eye test, Organ is
probably the number two team, andthat's in the country right now or three
right now. Yeah. I stillthink I'd slide Michigan ahead of them because

(02:09:39):
of the physicality. But Oregon's defenseis filthy Oregon. The eye test.
Oregon has the eye test, butnothing else. I test Oregon, they
are a top four team in America, right, agree and so, and
then they got a wild hair form. They like wild here in a good
way. Right. I like thisteam. That's how the committee feels.
But right now, yeah, Igave you the sixth scenario. Okay,

(02:10:01):
Oregon beats Washington and Texas beats OklahomaState. Texas is not jumping Oregon.
You do know this, right, correct? Because they will have beaten the
number three team in America one lossor not. They are in. Alabama
beats Georgia. They are in asthe conference champion in the SEC, beating
the number one team for three straightyears in America and adn't lost many Alabama's

(02:10:28):
in Michigan is gonna should curb stomp. And when I say curb stomp,
twenty to three, Iowa they're in. Now you're coming down to two choices.
And then there's a third hint hereFlorida State beats Louisville, Texas beats
Oklahoma State. Georgia loses by afield goal walk off to Alabama. Who's

(02:10:54):
the fourth team that's got to beGeorgia, talking committee, right, correct?
Committee? I test? How doyou leave Georgia out of the final
four. Guess what if the eyetest, they'd be favored by double digits
over both Texas probably like Oregon Washington, and they be favored by more than
double digits two touchdowns plus over FloridaState. I agree with that. So

(02:11:16):
see there, right right, Ihate this. I'll ask you this.
I'll ask you this. If Georgialoses to Alabama by three points, you're
gonna tell me that Alabama is stillnot one of the four best teams in
the country. They'll be favored overeverybody they play Alabama. No, I
mean Georgia, Georgia. Yeah,Alabama beats Georgia. Do you still want
Georgia in the final four? Arethey one of the four bestI you I
want the top four teams. IfGeorgia gets beat by Alabama one of them,

(02:11:39):
yes, are they one of yourfour teams? All right? They
are? Then then Texas is donewell for me according to According to that,
it won't matter I know State,Florida State or Texas want to get
in. By your standards, it'sgoing to be Oregon, Michigan, Alabama,
and Georgia according to what you justsaid. So in Florida State or
done. Yeah, Florida State isI was gonna say it done, but

(02:12:00):
that would also exact. That's whyyou need Georgia to win. So it
takes two teams in the floor. Now, if it was listen, if
Georgia had one loss right now andthey were playing and they got beat by
Alamatad, they're done done. That'sthat's my point. Yeah, they they're
going to hold Georgia at one loss. In my opinion, the committee is

(02:12:20):
going to hold Georgia in higher regardthen Texas as a conference champion and Florida
State is an undefeated conference champion.I don't still think they're going to shove
Georgia out of that. Didn't TCUlose their conference championship game last year and
still getting on one loss tcuh IfI'm not mistaken, and they got in

(02:12:41):
and they end up beating Michigan andgoing to the national championship. Now they
got beat but still got curb stopped. But they were playing there you good
football. Was it Kansas State thatgot them? Yes? At the end,
yes, so overtime I what itwas? I got news for you.
The Committee holds Georgia in much higherregard they did tc And if TCU
got in with one loss after losingtheir conference. I know there was some
other factors. I still see youby point and I mean go back,

(02:13:01):
Am I right when I tell youyou must beat Oklahoma State, but you
have to have Georgia win and FloridaState get beat by Louisville. Yeah,
then you are in. It isa guarantee. Then it goes Texas Pac
twelve big ten sec. If Georgiawins winner, the biggest the biggest disruption
is gonna be if Georgia loses toAlabama. Two worthy teams are gonna have

(02:13:28):
their ass sucking, buttermilk more thanlikely because of Georgia. Right Committee,
Now, Committee, correct committee,Committee. But if you're asking me now,
Sean, if Georgia loses to Alabamaand the close one, do I
still think George is one of thefour best teams in the country, I
would pick them to still win thenational Championship. I would say unequivocally,
yes, agreed that George is stillone of the top four teams. All

(02:13:48):
right, we'll get to your phonecalls next seven, one, three,
two point two, five, seven, nine of the see we got Biscuit,
Jay and Mike. You guys hangon, We'll get to your questions
after this break. And also JoelKlatt had some things to say about the
committee. What did he say? That's next Sports Talk seven ninety. Oh.
Also check this out. I shouldhave worn if sewn Holy cares about
cold hard. Back to the SeanSalisbury show on Sports Talk seven ninety talking

(02:14:20):
college football in these playoff rankings theywere released last night, Georgia, Michigan,
Washington, Florida state. That's yourtop four, talking about scenarios to
get Texas in if Oregon beat Washington, so forth, and so on.
Seven one, three, two,one two, five, seven ninety the
number to join. Let's start inorder of longest wait and let's go out
to biscuit, biscuit. What's happening? Man, Hey, le meme Sean

(02:14:45):
Man, we need to go througha sports boar somewhere. I told Sean
the committee Texas is a long shot, and to me, Sean, I
think. To me, I stillthink, Sean, they gotta pat of
themself to Alabama. And the onlyway they get in there is if there's
an argument about, hey, howare you gonna put Alabama in front of
us? That's the only way theyget in you don't want Alabama to win,

(02:15:11):
Dude, you don't. They gotto win, Johnny Biscuit, We'll
do Listen, listen, no,no, listen, what's that? How
are you gonna jump three teams? And if you don't have no argument they
be? Well, first off, let's backtrack for a second. Back up
for a second. What did thecommittee tell you right now? If Texas,

(02:15:35):
Florida State, and Oregon all win, Let's forget Georgia and Alabama for
a second. If Texas, Georgia, if Texas, Florida State, and
Oregon all win this week, guesswho's not going to be higher than Florida
State. And this isn't what Ithink. I'm just telling you what the
committee is gonna do. I tryto tell you this yesterday. If Texas

(02:15:56):
and Alaba, if Texas and Oregonand Florida State all win, guess who
the third team of those three is? It'd that's one? Okay, that's
one. So that would mean Michigan, Oregon or Washington Florida State are in
correct? All right? So youwant Alabama to win and you think you're

(02:16:18):
getting in and Alabama's going home whenthey didn't give you credit. Let me
finish when you didn't get credit forthe win in September yesterday, when the
committee already told you, we don'tseem to hold that one in high regard.
You think because if they beat Alabamabeach Georgia, they're gonna say,
well, let's give that victory backin September a little more credence. Now

(02:16:43):
they've told you it doesn't matter asmuch to them with what they did yesterday.
So if Alabama beach Georgia, you'rebegging because you're I'm telling you what
you're wishing for. If you're notcareful. If Alabama beached Georgia by three
points, yeah, Georgia may bethe very team that knocks Alabama. I
mean that knocks Texas out of thisall. If Louisville beat Florida State,

(02:17:07):
you don't you need Georgia to win. I don't know why you think they're
gonna give Texas more credit if Alabamabeats Georgia. They didn't give me any
credit for September. That's why they'rebelow Florida State. We know the eye
test. Texas is better than FloridaState. We know eye test Oregon.
They hold them in high regard inthe body of work in the Pac twelve.
My point is, I don't knowwhy you want why you want the

(02:17:30):
SEC. You want Alabama to beatGeorgia, and you think you're in over
Alabama. That's what you think. No, I'm saying you get in over
Georgia. Conference champions. Okay,But last year, who is a conference
champion in the Big twelve? Lastyear, I don't even know it was
Kansas State And guess who went tothe final four? TCU. Now you

(02:17:58):
think they hold TCU in higher regardthat last year than they do Georgia this
year as a two time national championand hasn't lost in since nineteen forty.
You if it's a close game,so they're gonna take Georgia and drop them
to six after a loss to anAlabama team that some think is the hottest

(02:18:18):
team in America. Right now,let me say this, Sean, this
is my scenario you put just inthere. Let me put this is and
this is only for the Longhorns andis very improbable. This is what happened.
But I'm just saying to me,Sean, this is the only way
the Longhorns get in. This iswhat I'm saying. I don't think they
gonna get in because the way thecommittee shows you, like you said,

(02:18:41):
they don't respect the win they got. But the only chance they got to
get in, in my opinion isnumber one, Florida State gotta lose because
you're win over Oklahoma State is notgoing better than they're win over Littleville.
I've stated that that Florida State hasto get beat by Louisville. That's one
one, and then you know numbertwo. I think that Alabama has to

(02:19:03):
beat Georgia by double digits, No, Timia by double digits. Then you
can say, hey man, we'rethe only thing to beat Alabama. What's
an easier path Alabama? No,No, I'm talking about I'm talking about
in your in what you're saying foryou, what's an easy what's an easier
I think Louisville is going to beatFlorida State. That's my opinion. I

(02:19:24):
think Louisville can without the quarterback. Now I believe they can. So Okay,
let's let's assume that happens. What'sa more likely scenario by a long
shot, Georgia beating Alabama by threeor ten or whatever, or Alabama beating
Georgia by two touchdowns that isn't goingto happen this this Saturday, and you

(02:19:48):
and I both do it, Okay, So why wouldn't you want this?
For Longhorn fans? Here's the easierroute. You say, the only way
they get in is by Alabama beatingGeorgia, huge in by Florida State losing.
I flip that. If the winnerof the PAC twelve is going,
the winner of the Big ten inMichigan is in. So let's put those

(02:20:09):
two aside. So it's three tomake two right now. If Louisville beats
Florida State, all you need isGeorgia, Georgia to beat Alabama and they're
favored. Texas is in, Georgia'sin, Oregon or Washington are in,
and Michigan's in. That's what youwant, and that's the easier path for

(02:20:31):
Texas. Let Louisville go take careof Florida State. Florida State's done,
the acc is done, Georgia, just go do what everybody expects you to
beat Alabama, and then your finalfour is Texas, Georgia, Michigan,
and the winner of the PAC twelve. The bucket where the buck guy's going
to fit in? You think aone lost Buckeyes team is going to take

(02:20:54):
over a conference champion Texas even thoughthey're in front of them now, they
get one extra No, but theyget one extra game, is my point.
Oh yeah, yeah, you're right, they get the extra game.
Thanks. The extra game is goingto jump them over Ohio State. We
had to roll. But now getwhat Biscuits saying, they got to beat

(02:21:16):
him. But the likelihood is thatLoueville is going to beat Florida State and
that Georgia is going to beat Alabama. That's much easier and Georgia witted.
It's much easier than Alabama hapened towin by two touchdowns. For Texas,
Texas needs his Their eyes need togo to two places Atlanta, yeah,
and to Charlotte. And if theytake care of it like supposed to.
Just Texas got to take care ofthem. Just beat Oklahoma State and Ohio.

(02:21:39):
You will jump Ohio State because youget the extra game. In my
opinion, you don't want Alabama towin. You don't know. You can't
Georgia and Florida State lose. Georgiawin, Florida State lose. Yeah,
you can't have Alabama win, especiallyby like a field goal. Then that's
going to muddy the waters even more. Then I'm going to tell you right
now. Yeah, then I don'tbelieve Texas is jumping Georgia. Yeah,

(02:22:01):
Georgia win Louisville Wine and the otherand Texas take. Then Texas will be
a Texas wants Georgia. And thenyou look at Ohio State, then the
biggest gripe in the country would beyou put Ohio State in over Texas.
No, it's not happened, andthey don't have an extra game, absolutely
not. Yeah, no, notha chance. We're gonna keep talking college

reason that could be maybe the committeestarted what I saw them boys over there
off of color its guy gave yout the business. If it wouldn't be

for that spot that we got onthat potential first down. And I know
my boy Sean is the whole ifGrandma had balls thing and all that,
but that was a huge call. Are you talking about you talking about when
they played you of age and itwas just a one score game? Yeah,
yes, yeah, are they gettingyeah, go ahead. Are they

Last night, after the rankings cameout, he tweeted the idea that a
room full of administrators, for themost part, are the best we can
do to rank college football teams properlyis laughable. These rankings are just silly.
Agree or disagree, Sean uh Iwould say silly in some cases.

(02:27:01):
Listen, it's not silly to haveMichigan where they are, to have Washington
where they are, to have Georgiawhere they are. It's it's silly considering
why certain ones are ranked or whatthey're looking at. When somebody comes on
from North Carolina State and says bobo uh Nix's completion percentage, Yeah,
that's great, then give him theHeisman Trophy if that's what you're talking about.

(02:27:22):
We're not talking about the Heisman Troil. We're talking about the team effort
of going. Just say you likeOregon more for a couple of reasons,
don't give us mode then I cangive you. Well, then the three
lost LSU team because I Jade andDaniels has a great completion percentage. Stop
it. Okay, uh, thisis a whole team hole the effort,
but individuals do come into it,and it's gonna end up hurting Florida State

(02:27:43):
more than likely if things go theway that Texas would want him. But
then again, the backup quarterback maycome in there and play out of his
mind. They may be Louisville. The simple thing for you, Longhorn fans,
you better root for Georgia and youbetter root for Louisville. And then
obviously Texas got to take care oftheir own business. They lose, then
that's that's on them. In theirgame against Oklahoma State, they need to

(02:28:05):
focus on what they're doing and hopethat it works out. You don't want
to get too caught up in everybodyelse and forget to go play and get
you and get your ass handed toyou by Oklahoma State. So the back
the Pac twelve winner is in,so you just accept it. The Big
Ten winner is not in. Ifit's Iowa, it's gonna be Michigan.
They'll win those two. The SECchampion is going, and you got to

(02:28:26):
hope it's Georgia. If you're Texas, Georgia wins and Florida State loses the
Louisville and you win at Texas, you are going to the four. Ohio
State's not gonna stay in front ofyou. Why they're not playing the extra
conference championship playing it and winning it, not playing it like TCU didn't lost
it and they still got in.Playing it and winning it gives you twelve

(02:28:48):
and one record. Now you willthen then the okay, we beat Alabama,
we did all this, it willcome into play. You're not going
to credit Ohio State more for losingit in regular season, then you are
Texas for winning it, beating Alabama, having a tougher schedule than people in
front of you, and get in. You better pray that Georgia wins,

(02:29:09):
which they're the favorite. You gota much better chance at Georgia winning than
Alabama winning by seventeen points, andthat Louisville plays better football than they did
last week against Kentucky and takes careof their business and knocks out Florida State.
Plus it's a it's even. It'llbe worse for Florida State if Louisville
does that. Why because Louisville alreadyhas that loss to Kentucky as well,

(02:29:31):
so it would say, it wouldtell you all the eye test told is
Florida State doesn't belong in the foureven with a loss. Florida State has
to win and they're still not sureto getting in. But but the committee
told you last night that if FloridaState does win, they are going to
be guaranteed to get in because they'realready in. They're not going to drop

three is going to be more impressivethan a win against twenty three or whatever

Yeah, if Georgia wins in FloridaState wins Texas, if Oregon wins or

Washington win, Michigan get upset byOhio State's not going to jump and stay

(02:37:54):
in front of you. If youbeats Hopes are done. I'm sorry,
Ohio States are done. Their hopesare done. In my opinion, yeah,
because if Alabama wins, Alabama,Georgia is the one who is your
competitor for the four slot house. If Georgia wins, alls you got.
If Georgia wins, yeah, Louisvilletakes care of Florida State. Texas is

(02:38:15):
in if they win, it shouldbe Georgia, Michigan, Washington, Florida
State, Oregon, Texas, Alabama, and Ohio State should have fallen to
eight. In my opinion, theyshould not still be ahead of Texas and
Alabama in these rankings. That's onlya week. Like I said, Texas
wins, Yeah, I mean they'regonna go to Alabama with Alabama jump them
all. Alabama warning up as theone seed, but they'll end up like

(02:38:37):
the three or four. Isn't itcrazy how far we've come with these college
football playoff rankings and what it usedto be with the BCS with a computer
system. Everyone bitched and complained andmoaned about the BCS. Now we get
a playoff system and you look backhistory. They don't want human they don't
want the human area. You don'twant now you don want the human human
elements. Think about this, ifif in fact, Georgia does lose to

(02:38:58):
Alabama, there's a chance this couldhappen with the committee, that Michigan would
go to number one. We knowthat Washington at number three would jump to
number two if they beat Oregon.Yeah, the number three team would then
be more than likely, more thanlikely Florida State if they beat Louisville and
then you've got Georgia would go.Well, I take that back. If

(02:39:24):
Alabama wins, Alabama and Georgia morethan likely are going to be the three
and four team, And whoever playsFlorida State in that semi final is going
to kick their ass. So whatif Florida State. If Florida State gets
in, they're gonna get their asskikes regardless. So let's the PAC twelve.
If Florida State beats Louisville, Texasis out, they're done, right,

(02:39:50):
Assuming Michigan bets Iowa. So Michiganin packed twelve. R in now
Alabama beats Georgia, Alabama is goingto jump in. How do you say?
How do you how are you goingto keep them out? From a
committee standpoint? Committee, from acommittee standpoint, and the eye test last
six weeks, you were gonna lookat Alabama, and again, I know

(02:40:11):
it took a miracle fourth down heaveby Jalen Milroe to beat Auburn, to
beat Auburn in the in the rivalrygame, I understand all that. What
a great throw. From a committeestandpoint, how are those dudes and women
gonna leave out the SEC champion ifit's Alabama? Right, I don't think
they are. I don't think theyare either, And so that would mean

(02:40:31):
can you imagine though Alabama beats Georgiadrops back down? Alabama then becomes three,
Georgia four, Washington two, andMichigan's number one team in the country.
Is that is that the final four? Yeah? Yes? Even if
Texas wins at Oklahoma State. Yeah, I mean from the community. Fortunately,
My point is now Georgia could affecttwo of them. What if Texas

(02:40:52):
wins, Georgia loses, and FloridaState wins. For me, Florida State's
umber four? Right? Yeah?Is there any way on God's Green Earth
that the committee can say that FloridaState's a better team than Florida State won
and is the conference champion. Georgialoses by a field goal to Alabama.

(02:41:16):
Can you imagine Georgia is staying inthe four I mean I can and Florida
State missing out because Georgia lost Alabamaand they're still ahead of him. And
Florida State did their job with thebackup quarterback and won the conference championship.
Can you imagine I could? Icould by some of the rankings that we
got right now. I just havea hard time believing they want Georgia.

(02:41:37):
You're gonna you're gonna drop many,so you're gonna drop Georgia four spots now
out of the College football playoff. Now, let me give you this one.
What if, real quick, Alabamawins and the committee decides, you
know what, I wasn't impressed withthe Auburn win. They're already out of
the four. Texas wins, Washingtonor or Organ win, Michigan's in and

(02:42:01):
Florida State wins. Do you realizeif the committee had that wild hair,
that you could actually have Georgia andAlabama out. No representative from the SEC.
Now that would be crazy. Whatif is there any chance in hell
did a blocked kick saves a winfor Alabama? And Alabama wins but still

(02:42:24):
doesn't make it and Georgia does Noway right, No, this isn't.
This isn't can't I know, butget my point? Yeah, I get
it. We've seen the movie justto have different rappers. So the key
here is if Georgia loses, donot count them out. If Georgia wins
and Texas takes care of their businessin SODA's Louisville, then they're in.
But I don't see how you're goingto put Florida State out of it if

(02:42:46):
you already have them at four andthey win this week. Yet there is
that chance. What if it's comesdown to Oregon in Florida State, Michigan's
in Alabama, Georgia's in uh,Michigan, and George's in with Washington.
But it won't because you know why, their their win over three would push

(02:43:09):
them up to three Oregon and wouldpush keep Florida State at four. Texas
would still miss out. Yeah that'scommittee wise, correct, Yeah, it's
committee wise. Let's look at whothe next University Houston football coach could be.
There's some odds that have been sentout. There is a couple of
familiar names on here. You know, Sean we Uh talking about all this

(02:43:31):
these scenarios that it makes me wantto grab a beer. Man, you
do you wandle tap? I meanI prefer Heineken, but I know you
like to look at my pas.Can you tell me about yourself? Yeah,

(02:46:24):
said. This song makes me wantto run to the convenience store, right,
grab a six pack of tall Boys. I heard that, Uh huh,
A couple of maybe even cart andthe Cowboy Killers and hit the dance
floor. I mean, listen toLady A. You mean Lady Annabellum.
Yeah, Anabellum. Sorry are theycalled Lady A now though, aren't they?

(02:46:46):
Yeah? But it's Lady Annabellum. You know, back when all the
people were freaking out about name.Yeah. Yeah, like when they were
the Dixie Chicks and they had tobecome the Chicks society. I mean,
dude, you put on a trip, you put on a pair of Looke
Casey boots and get after it.Uh damn free plug. I'll take a

(02:47:07):
Looke Casey endorsement right now? Yeah, you and four million others. Yeah,
but allegedly we're on the street,so trip you're not from? Are
you from you? No, You'refrom Tulsa, right, correct? Do
you want a pair of cowboy boots? I do you do? Well?
Then? I wouldn't say they cowboy, but they they boots for you know,

(02:47:31):
outside and doing you know, likeoutside outside or like you know,
out outdoors, like outside or outdoors, like when you go outside outdoors?
Okay, outdoors, I'm gonna saythey're square toe? Are they square toe?
Uh? Are they round to rot? There's just some ropers. It's

(02:47:52):
just some ropers like Coach Webb outat soul Ros State Ross. Did you
know? What do you what doyou say? Tulsa? Do you all?
Do you say what city you're from? Or if you're from Tulsa,
you like from t town? Whatdo they call it? The town?
Whoa? I'm I'm I'm huge inthe Tulsa community. Are you? Yeah?
Okay? Shn big in the Tulsacommunity. I mean that's the word

(02:48:16):
of the street. Is that thestreet word on the street. I'm big
in Tea town? Hate uh?Little ropers? Cold beer cold or cold
cold beer? Cold beer cold? There's no d at the end Elliott cold
beer, cold beer, cold beer, hot pizza, hot pizza, pizza.

(02:48:39):
Yeah, I'd rather have a coldbeer and hot pizza. Yeah,
hot hot pizza. Maybe a stick, maybe a grit dart. Yeah no,
I don't. I don't really smokepole though, I don't really mean
that's a once in a while thingbasic. I mean, do you realize

(02:49:01):
perhaps did you? You're poll smokingbecause of you? The cigar thing?
Have you ever, Well, I'mgonna ask you one last time. Has
anybody in your life ever said, hey, let's go smoke a pole?
Well, they were talking about cigars? Ever, Yes, name one,
call them. I want to hear. I want to hear who it is.

(02:49:22):
There's a couple of guys in college. Name them. I can't name
them because they didn't exist. Yeahthey did. They were on the basket
They're on the basketball team. I'mnot throwing them under the bus, okayr
Zach was one of them? WasZach? That just sounds like a basketball
name. There could be a Zachon eight million of them. No,
okay, Zach. He said, yeah, I'm gonna go smoke a pole.
And what was your first reaction whenhe said that? I said,

(02:49:43):
what was your first reaction? Hey? Cool, me too, Zach Revel?
What did you say, Zach Ravel? Okay, smoke what a poll?
He asked me if I wanted tosmoke a pole? And for you,
you didn't know it was a cigar. You actually thought it was a
pole. So you said, hell, yeah, I've done that many times.
No, they just found my forehead. That's that. No, I

(02:50:05):
can, Yes, they do.I'm telling you I didn't just pull that
out of my ass. Pause,Yeah you did, No, you did.
No, I didn't. Even anamateur cigar smoker doesn't call it that.
They called a pole. I'm tellingyou no, because you don't just

(02:50:26):
sit around. Hey, man, grab me a pole. I'd like to
smoke one. Nobody says that.Nobody, Hey, what are you gonna
put? Well, I got myhumid o over here, but I'm going
to smoke a pole. Then you'regoing to smoke a cigar. It's like
a post you know, post makinglove grit. Right, they've got smoker
poles. Don't got what they've got? Smoker poles? What's that? It's

(02:50:48):
where you it's when you're smoking adart and you need somewhere to put the
butt. No, that's not asmorker. Yes, and they don't call
it that, though they do.They call a smoker's pole. They're on
sale right now on fifty two ninetynine. Smoker's pole. Correct a pole
a cigar? No? I mean, look according to Urban Dictionary, smoking

(02:51:09):
a pole, according to what UrbanDictionary do well there's where there's there's that's
like you're going there for your societalinformation. Okay, then tell me what's
a flying camera? Why didn't youread that one on there? Papa?
What the donkey? There are kidsthat are listening to the show Sean Relaxed.
But we're talking about smoking cigars donkeys, and you're like, I'm talking

(02:51:31):
about donkey. Donkey punch is simplywhen you walk by and a donkey kicks
you in the back of the head. Okay, look here, smoking you
grew up on a farm. Wellyou grew up on a farm. Yeah,
so smoking a pole is the actof taking a fat rip of some
dank ass. You know what, not a cigar? Then why did you
say? You know what? Yousaid a cigar? Said? What do

(02:51:54):
you know? I can't, Ican't say this word. It's a cigar.
No smoking some dank ass. Don'tsay it. Das is the acronym,
right, I got you. Yeah, whether it be from a bubbler,
a bong, a grit weed,or or a cigar, if you
like, it's not a cigar.Okay, So just just let you know,

(02:52:15):
no, smoking pole is taking afat rip. So it's a fat
rip of a Then why are youafraid to go into a bar and tell
somebody that I'm not I'll go doit right now, name me a bar.
Let's go. Why are you afraidto go in? I'm not trying
to go to Montros? Come overlike at a Christmas dinner when everybody's together,
say hey man, I'm gonna gosmoke a pole. All right,
right, okay, just do that. See how people look. Watch the
heads at the table looking like you. Hey, we just took talked about

(02:52:39):
this a couple of segments ago.Who cares what other people think? I
don't see, I don't I'm justwaiting for the laughs. Is here for
the laughs? I don't care whatthey think because I wouldn't say it.
You say a camel punch? Ohno, don't look those up? Is
just it's it's it's the flying camel. It's strictly a classy move. Okay,
yeah, you don't want you're gettingyour information Urban Dictionary. That's why

(02:53:07):
I sometimes go to reference things todonkey. So yeah, use that at
the family dinner. Hey mom, pops, ye, hey dad, did
you ever grow up? Yeah?Don't do it? Is it the flying
camel? That's strictly a classy move. Okay, yeah, ye see,
Yeah, you don't want to,Yeah, don't. Urban Dictionary is probably

(02:53:28):
not You're made for air commenting leaders. It's called smoking a cigar. I'm
just gonna save you the trouble.Okay, yeah, exactly exactly. It
says strictly the fact that Urban Dictionary, you guys, are referred to for
your favorite moves, and that they'rethey're kind of the they're kind of the
funny, they're they're get that's they'rethe ones that are gonna give you.

(02:53:52):
There you go. Urban Dictionary ishilarious. Can read I can't read that
because you just can't. I've triedto save you from having to push a
dump button four hundred times on thisshow. Don't do it. I'm ready
to keep your finger on that.Yeah you don't want to. I'm not
gonna say it. No, no, no, I'm just okay fine.

(02:54:13):
It's a Clese Lily says, strictlyglassy move, commonly commonly mixed up with
the flying camel and a donkey punch. They could be confused, right correct,
Just just animals out there grazing andstuff. My gosh, all right,
let's look at some of the oddsfor the next University Houston head football

(02:57:09):
tonight against the Nuggets, eight o'clockto tip off, seven pm. Launch
pad right here on seven ninety yourhome for Rockets basketball. Texans losing Titus
Howard for the rest of the seasonknee injury suffered this past weekend against the
Jags, Georgia, Michigan, Washington, and Florida State. Your top four
in college football. Got a scenariothat we're gonna get into with some of

(02:57:33):
these rankings and conference championship games comingup this weekend. But real quick,
Sean, some odds just coming outfor the next coach of the University of
Houston. Guess who has the bestodds. It's a name you mentioned to
me a couple of days ago. We've heard about Jeff Traylor, We've heard
Willie Fritz, We've heard Gary Patterson. Who do you think lead is leading

(02:57:56):
the way with these odds? CliffordKingsbury Bingo, Cliff Kingsbury plus two hundred,
Jeff Trailer at plus three hundred JeffTraylor had an interview with University of
Houston. Gary Pattison obviously a namethat has been rumored, Willie Fritz plus
five hundred, Jeff Banks plus ninehundred, Will Stein plus eleven hundred,
g J. Kine plus twelve hundred, Emmett Jones plus fourteen hundred, and

(02:58:18):
Jimbo Fisher's name at plus sixteen hundred, Cliff Kingsbury leading the way, Well,
he does know the Big twelve.Wasn't he here under Kevin someone?
Yeah, he's been here before.Yeah, as a coach, Yeah,
I believe so. Offensive coordinator wenton to A and m obviously we knows

(02:58:45):
USC Hire coordinator left to go takeArizona job before he started that got the
Arizona job, I mean Texas Techobviously between there, Yeah, and then
got the Arizona job while he wassupposed to be the offensive coordinator at USC.
But he took that as rightfully. So he got his what four years

(02:59:05):
in and then went back to USC. And now I'm sure waiting for a
head coaching opportunity, And the questionis will somebody give it to him?
And what are you going to getout of it? Are you going to
get? Unfortunately what's been going isgreat offense. You're gonna let players just
look at their phones during the Imean remember at Arizona we to let him

(02:59:26):
have their phones and meetings. Whatis Cliff? What is Cliff learned over
the course of time watching Lincoln Riley'sdefense at USC, watching his defense at
times at uh Texas Tech, andthen being on teams that you know he
was on that manzieldt wasn't he allthe staff of Manziel he was. So
Cliff's seen some good things and coachedsome really good you know too. The

(02:59:50):
guy's great play caller in hell ofan offensive coach. The question is how
are you going to instill in yourteam that finesse isn't the way. I
mean, we'll be listen. WheneverCliff or Lincoln or those guys are coaching
teams, you're gonna throw it andyou're gonna don't matter who the quarterback is.
You're gonna win some games and you'regonna put up a lot of yards
because they know how to design offense. The question is can you put the
right staff together to get rid ofthe stigma that has and will continue to

(03:00:13):
follow him and Lincoln and guys inthat type system around and it's rightfully so
successful. Bright finesse got to getphysical. Even the best of the best
that we've looked at, we lookat him and say, hmm, man,
they're awesome, but they're gonna giveup thirty five. How are you

(03:00:33):
going to fix that? With yourstaff? And you're recruiting to now in
the Big twelve, get yourself whereyou're dominating defensively and listen if you want
do you want points? And Imean, well, Cliff comes from the
Dana Tree. It's it's similar theDana Leach. You know that whole group
starting with how Mummy right on downto the you know all those things that

(03:00:56):
these spread offenses and they're successful, but you still got to add some physicality
to it. Gundy, who theTech Texas is playing? This is all
us Tech? What does the UniversityHouston want from this? And if it's
Cliff, then Cliff Staff he's gonnahave to get outside of his friendships and
go find people that are gonna playdefense because I know he can coach,

(03:01:16):
and I know he can coach x'sand o's and call plays. I feel
like Cliff Kingsbury would also know theHouston area and the Strondow for recruiting wise,
there's no question. I think that'speople know how to recruit. That's
the biggest thing that's gonna put UniversityHouston in contention with the Big twelve is
going to be recruiting. This cityis two. There are too many good

(03:01:37):
players in this city that go unnoticed. Well, you got to keep the
great player from north Shore Katie here. Yeah, we got to keep him
here and not let him get in. He's getting recruited. And the guy
who's getting recruited by Texas and Aand M and Southern cal and Michigan.
How are you going to keep himin house? How are you gonna put
a fence around fifty square miles andsay we are now in the Big twelve.

(03:01:58):
I don't have to sell you onPower five. We're here, and
here's what we're going to do different, And here's how we're going to get
this thing back to the way hehad it when Dana was taking care of
his business and you know, whenthey were winning and when Tom Herman had
them where they wanted to be.I mean, we've seen this team,
this team get really close and dosome great things. But you've got to

(03:02:20):
play some defense in order to getwhere you want to go. And you
see it. Oklahoma got better ondefense this year. Now, look remember
last year. Heck they were alreadytalking about where's venables? Invenibles? Lost
a little sight of it. Hegot back to doing what he likes to
do, immerse himself shoulder to shoulderwith the guys. So they played better.
That's the thing when you're a headcoach, you've got to find a
way to pay attention to all ofit. And now he's going to be

(03:02:43):
looking for a new offensive coordinator andhis at his place because Jeff Levy's now
the new head coach at Mississippi State. So a lot of changes going on
and people are moving and it's obviousit sounds like Cliff's either going to get
or already has had an interview, right, But if it feels like he's
going to get one, well Oddsor Vegas Odds are putting that out there.

(03:03:05):
They know something. Yeah, there'sgot to be some I mean,
they don't just throw it out therefor that right, right candidate. And
also another thing to you talk aboutthe Power five and the Big twelve for
Universe Houston with the playoffs, aboutto expand the twelve teams. If you
eas can find themselves a top theBig twelve or one of the top teams
in the Big twelve, who's tosay they can't make the Top twelve for
the Clage Football playoffs. Think aboutthis, If we were at twelve teams

(03:03:28):
this year, Louisville beats Florida State, Louisville would jump from fourteen to probably
the nine or ten because that's thenumber four team in the country. They'd
get in. They would get in. Yeah, so they would still be
playing for something. Another team thatwould be in there would be too lane
right and rightfully so played the one. That's another guy, Willie Fritz.
He's on this list. He's coachinghis ass off there. I don't know

(03:03:50):
how people aren't beating his door down. I know that's that's the old man.
Jeremy brought up a good point whichI've kind of stated, how two
Big ten teams could get in.Yeah. Biscuit brought up, if you
know, with this weekend, aboutwhen if Georgia wins, can Ohio State
creep back in. Now, there'sonly one scenario in my well, there's

(03:04:11):
a cup. But and it's realquick and we'll discuss it, but I'll
just tell you what it was.If Texas and Florida State lose, which
is a pot. Listen, allthis talk, nobody's talking about Oklahoma State
coming, You're gonna have to playwell. I mean, I'm sure Texas
is focused on it because if youdon't win, it won't matter what the
rest of them do. You gotto take care of your business. But
if Texas and Florida State lose andWashington, Michigan, and Georgia all win,

(03:04:33):
well, Washington, Georgia, andMichigan are all in. You know
who then becomes the fourth team? You be Ohio State, Ohio State.
Let's talk and loss. Let's talkabout that next. Right here on the
Sewn Salisbury Show, it's time foryour University of Houston University of Houston Cougar
Football Daily Update, and it's indeedright there with the search for the head

(03:04:54):
coach. And then this update ispresented to you by dose echis Cougar is
looking for their next head coach. On betting odds have come out Cliff Kingsbury
leading the way plus two hundred,Jeff Trailer plus three hundred. Obviously he's
done a great job at utsa,Gary Patterson, the former TCU coach at
plus five hundred, and then WillieFritz doing a phenomenal job down at two
lane. He's got the green waveat eleven and one, playing in the

(03:05:16):
conference championship. Who will be thenext head coach of the University of Houston.
We will have to wait and see. And when you're waiting for that
Cougar job to be filled, oryou're rooting on your favorite college football team,
make sure you're drinking a dose Sekisdo Ski's nose. Game day is
filled with iconic traditions, the fightsongs of rivalries, the iconic stadium.
So whatever your game day tradition is, make sure you're doing it with a
real one. And that is doSeki's raise one with a real one.

Enjoy do Sekies Responsibly. Twenty twentythree Dose Seki's Imported by Servaces Maxicona's White
Planes in New York. Get adose. This is the Sean Stalis Curry
Show and his name is sure Sean. Really. We're on Sports Talk seven
ninety the Head and Clown final segmenton a Wednesday, a Western Wednesday,

(03:06:20):
on the Shawn Salisbery Seawann Sports Talksseven ninety Next up, we'll standing Northfleet
and Chris Gordy Coming up next.Rockets taking on the Nuggets tonight in Denver,
eight pm. Tip off seven o'clockto the launch Pad. Texans back
in practice. They lose Titus Howardfor the rest of the season with a
knee injury. Georgia, Michigan,Washington, Florida State your top four in
college football. All right, let'slook at this scenario. One of our

(03:06:41):
followers on Twitter, presented to usJeremy at JD e M Underscore nineteen ninety
two, says, who gets inIf Texas and Florida State lose but Georgia,
Michigan, Washington all win, Well, those three would be in.
Then you start to break down,it's obvious Oregon would be with two losses.

(03:07:05):
The number six teams Ohio State, they lost to a team that was
ranked number two in the country ornumber three in the country at the time,
number three because Georgia was too OhioState one, or Georgia was one,
Ohio State was two. You lostto the you beat the number two
team. Ohio State lost to thenumber three team. If they come back
at number six that I mean,Oregon would be eliminated there in the five
hole. Florida State would fall outof THEIRS, and Texas is already back

(03:07:30):
at seven, and Texas would havetwo losses and Ohio State would have one
even though they didn't play in theConference Champion Chip. Under that scenario,
Washington I mean Washington, Washington,Michigan, Georgia, Inn. Texas and
Florida State lose, they're out.Alabama lose, they're out. It would
be Ohio State as your fourth team. And I have no problem with it.

(03:07:52):
A one loss Ohio State teen losingin Michigan. If that scenario presented
itself, for Texas and Florida Stateboth lost, Michigan, Washington, and
Georgia all win, Ohio State shouldbe the fourth team. Yeah, scenario,
and there is. I'm gonna tellyou what, that's a real scenario.

(03:08:13):
If if Oklahoma State and Texas playtheir best football, Texas is beating
them handily. If Texas doesn't.Gundy's seen this movie. He understands how
to play. And obviously Louisville isgood enough to beat Florida State. So
that's not like that's so far fetched. Now, if you play eighty percent.
Gundy's team comes in here and playsone hundred percent, you're in trouble.

(03:08:35):
So let's not lose sight of whathas to happen before any of this
matters. For Texas is they gotto win. But that's a scenario that
if they fumble one in, ifthey play like they did in the second
half against the University of Houston, guess what's gonna happen. They're gonna get
beat. If they play like theydid against Texas Tech and against Alabama,
Oklahoma State has no shot. Butthat scenario is real. Washington's hind and

(03:09:00):
a half point dog, yet they'reranked ahead of that. It's a neutral
site that ought to tell you theeye test of what Vegas sees as well
with Oregon. But in that scenario, Ohio State would be the fourth team
and they should be. So they'reholding out hope, and it's legitimate hope
that Texas and Florida State both loseand if that's the case, then they

(03:09:24):
are in. Now here's another interestingone. What if those that the same
scenario happens with Alabama beach Georgia,So that would put oh then then then
it'd be Georgian and Alabama. That'sthey wouldn't get in right in Washington,
Michigan, Alabama, Georgia, thatwould push Ohio State out of it again.

(03:09:48):
So in that scenario, Georgia's Georgia'ssmoking a grit. Oh we got
this man, no big deal. Now they want to win and they're now
they just lost their dB coach,Fran Brown, who's now the head coach
of s here cause one the bestrecruiters in the country. I'm talking about
for next year in the recruiting. This dude can recruit. Now he's the
head coach at Syracuse and good goodon him, really good and coaches a

(03:10:09):
defensive backs I'm pretty sure, whichis a Kirby Smart Nick Saban. They
love their back end players right thatback their secondary. So that as I
digressed, but that scenario, ifthat happened, Georgia would pop back down
to the fourth team. Alabama wouldbe third, Washington would be second,
in Michigan would be first. Butif it happens that way in Georgia,

(03:10:30):
Washington and Michigan all win, andTexas and Florida State lose. Ohio State's
back in. That's what they're theystill have something to watch for. This
weekend. Who do you think Doyou think Alabama has a chance? Oh
not, they have a chance.A bad way to put it. Ye,
Will Alabama beat them be Georgia? No, yeah, I don't think
so either. I got Georgia winningthat game. Close. Yeah, But

(03:10:50):
I'm going to tell you right now, ain't kind of come down. You
know what's going to have to happenis front seven is gonna have to hit
Carson a lot. But the otherside of it is if Milroe is too
dimensional in this game, very dangerousmeaning he goes out there and rushes for
a buck twenty five, but alsois is really efficient throwing it, He's

(03:11:15):
gonna have to make. I expecthim to make some runs. I do.
He is going to have to makesome big time, tight window,
get hit in the mouth throws inthis game to beat Georgia. And if
his arm and his legs are equallyeffective, I'm gonna tell you, brother,
then then then you're onto something. Now you are onto something. If

(03:11:39):
he can, If he he isgonna have to make some throws in this
game. And he's thrown it bettersince the last time Texas and that group
came all He's gotten better every weekas far as more efficient with that when
he's two dimensional that and I'm asgood as George's defense is. They're not
Georgia's defense from last year in theyear before, but they are damn good.
And hints why they're still we keeptrying to ride it like, oh,

(03:12:01):
at some point they're gonna lose, right, and they just keep beating
your brains in And the quarterback skillset wise is the best they've had in
a minute. Now, Now he'sgot to perform. Now if this was
we know who'd perform well in thisgame if he was there, because he
just seemed to do it when hewas there, you know, the the
former quarterback. Yeah, no,not Bryce, I'm talking about Georgia Benett.

(03:12:22):
So with Bennett, yeah, andbut Carson Beck's a really good player.
So if if Alabama is to win, mill Row has to be the
MVP in this game. That's uhthat line right now. Six Alabama's are
Georgia's favored by six points. Iought to tell you Vegas feels pretty good
about him over under at fifty threeand a half. Right now, let
me ask you this, would therebe any other team that they'd play Michigan,

(03:12:45):
right now that over under you thinkit put this, let me ask
you this would if they if theyif Georgia was playing Michigan. Yeah,
what would the spread bee? Iwould say that on a neutral field,
yeah, I would say Georgia getsby three points point two and a half
or three. Okay, what aboutFlorida State double digits? Right Georgia.
Oh, it'd be like a fourteenpoint double digits, yes, Texas,

(03:13:09):
right, just like what Washon hason Washington, Washington double digits with the
ass Oregon probably Oregon. They'd treatOregon in Texas similar to be like nine
to nine, eight and a halfto ten points, Florida State double digits.
So the truth of the matter is, of all these teams that are
hanging around, even Ohio State inthe top six or seven, do you

(03:13:31):
know, aside from Michigan, whothe who would be the lowest point spread
difference? It's the one right now, Alabama against Georgia in that game I'm
talking about. So Ohio State's beggingfor Florida State Texas to lose. Texas
is begging for Florida State and Georgiato win in Texas and Florida State to
lose Oregon and Washington don't give arats ass. They take care of that.

(03:13:52):
They're controlling their own, Michigan's controlbecause when people say it, I'm
just telling you, if it getsdown to Oregon and Florida State and they
both win, who's going both?Man, He's going Oregon in Florida State.

(03:14:13):
It would have to be both, right per the committee. What if
Alabama wins, Okay, well, then Georgia's one loss. They're better than
Florida State. That's to say, like they're better than Florida State. Now,
if it goes chalk all the wayaround, Oregon, Texas, Florida

(03:14:33):
State, Michigan, and Georgia winTexas, we'll see you on January first.
Yeah, I have six new yearsix bawl. Yeah, that's and
that's the way the committee's showing it. At what those rankings last night,
right, I got news for thecommittee right now, is crawling ten miles
over broken glass to get Georgia atthe final four. Yeah, that's a

(03:14:56):
fact, and they're probably crawling eventhat far to I hope that they don't
have to make the Florida State decision. Yeah, I hope. I'm being
serious. Yeah, I know,I don't want to do it. Texas
fans all week long. We'll keepthrowing it out there. You've got a
root for Georgia to win in FloridaState, to lose, and you win,
you're in. You're in. Yep, it's gonna be crazy. We'll
talk more about it tomorrow. Heis Sean Salisbury. Our producer Emmanuel Moore,

(03:15:18):
Triple E. I'm Brian li Lima. Thank you for listening. We're
